January is an odd month, isn’t it? Most of us are coming off the high of the holidays, where we’ve had the chance to relax and spend some quality time with our family and friends, and probably do something fun. And then the top of the year is usually about settling back into things, and perhaps goal-setting. With that in mind, Modern Family’s Ariel Winter put on a cute outfit and just got real about having a not-so-great week, and reflected on last month to feel better.

The 27-year-old took to social media to reminisce on the holidays with a great fit of hers she wore while posing with some festive decorations. She wrote “this week has been hedoublehockeysticks” and diverted the conversation toward the holiday season when she got to see “deer decor” and things “were a lot less stressful.” The second slide is a funny meme of a Hello Kitty stuffed animal alongside the caption “‘it’s up to you’ please don’t stress me out like this.”

She and a friend of hers were being silly at an empty theater where they ended up singing “Part of Your World” together, and Winter looked absolutely fly doing so. While a lot of celebrities tend to post some ridiculous outfits on social media we’d never see in the real world, this one is very stylish and easy to replicate her edgy style.

Winter is of course best known for playing Alex Dunphy for 11 seasons on Modern Family. After starting her career at the age of 4 with commercial work, she nabbed the role of Alex when she was around 11, and wrapped on the show with the cast when she was 22. She also has a longtime career in animation, with the actress set to reprise her role as Disney Junior’s Sofia the First in the spinoff titled Sofia the First: Royal Magic, coming to the 2026 TV schedule.

In recent years, Winter has opened up about her traumatic experiences growing up in Hollywood, saying that since she had access to the internet, she started receiving “inappropriate messages from older men”. She has also talked about being body shamed as a teenager while on the TV show and how it “totally damaged” her self-esteem.

A few years ago, Ariel Winter joined the onslaught of Hollywood stars leaving Los Angeles for Nashville, Tennessee, which means she’s dealing with the big snowstorm happening this weekend. We’re wishing Winter a better next week as we take notes on her awesome holiday fit.

Audiences fell in love with the Pritchetts, the Dunphys and all of the branches of the Modern Family tree during the 11-season run of one of the all-time best sitcoms on ABC. After spending such a significant chunk of their lives together, it’s not hard to see how the cast would become like a real family, and it’s always nice to see them reunite. Julie Bowen met up with Sarah Hyland recently and may have inadvertently shaded Ariel Winter in the process.

Sarah Hyland, who played the oldest Dunphy daughter Haley on Modern Family, is currently portraying Connie Francis in Just in Time on Broadway. Her TV mom Julie Bowen had glowing praise after catching a performance and posted a photo of their backstage reunion to Instagram:

They certainly look like a happy mother-daughter duo, don’t they? I couldn’t help but notice something in her caption, though, as Julie Bowen wrote:

Now, I know for your real children, you’re really not supposed to have favorites — or, if you do, you shouldn’t say it out loud or post those thoughts on social media where the other, less-favorable children might see it. Does that rule stand for fake children, too? Because Sarah Hyland isn’t Julie Bowen’s only fake daughter, and I can’t help but wonder how Ariel Winter feels about this.

Ariel Winter played Alex, the brainiac Dunphy middle child, younger sister of Haley, older sister of Luke (Nolan Gould). This seems like a classic case of middle child syndrome to me, always getting forgotten or ignored. I find it doubtful that Julie Bowen actually meant to throw any shade toward Winter and was likely just really excited about Sarah Hyland’s performance.

However, this wouldn’t be the first time Ariel Winter got snubbed by her Modern Family family. Back in 2021, just a year after the longtime series came to an end, some of the members of her TV family came together for a mini-reunion. Sofia Vergara posted a pic of her, Sarah Hyland and Jesse Tyler Ferguson enjoying a picnic lunch, which prompted Winter to inquire about her and Nolan Gould’s invitations.

The Alex Dunphy actress, however, was present when much of the cast reunited for Sarah Hyland’s wedding, and I’d imagine in actuality Ariel Winter is just as proud of Hyland’s achievements in the theater as their TV mom is.

Five years have now passed since Modern Family aired its final episode, and the topic of a reboot, reunion or spinoff has come up plenty of times, most recently by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who seemed to get a little jealous of Eric Stonestreet’s reunion with their TV daughter.

Only time will tell if we’ll ever see the Dunphys on our screens again to hash out this whole “best fake daughter” thing, but in the meantime, you can still stream all 11 seasons of Modern Family with either a Hulu subscription or a Peacock subscription.

One of Hollywood’s most recognizable young stars — even if she’s not permanently living in L.A. — Ariel Winter is familiar to fans not only on sight, but also for her vocal talents, as she’s been crushing voice-acting roles for most of her life, perhaps most notably as Disney’s mini-princess Sofia the First. Winter’s latest family-friendly 2D performance was for The Sisters Grimm, which is currently streaming via Apple TV subscription, and she told CinemaBlend why she still gets just as excited about animated projects as live-action ones.

In The Sisters Crimm, the first successful adaptation of author Michael Buckley’s YA novels, Winter voices the role of older sibling Sabrina Grimm, who discovers she and sister Daphne have quite the magical family tree as they meet up with characters straight out of fairy tale lore. The actress talked to CinemaBlend ahead of the streaming show’s debut, and I asked whether her opinions have changed over time, in regards to a preference between animated and live-action roles, and her response was delightfully down the middle. In her words:

Currently 27 years old, Ariel Winter has amassed around 100 credits so far across her work in movies, television, video games and more. (I’m especially fond of 2022’s decisions-matter horror The Quarry.) Some of her earliest voice roles happening in the preschool program Tickle U, the game Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, and Bambi II, released between 2005 and 2006, though likely recorded earlier. Meanwhile, she first popped up in live-action for appearances in One Life to Live, LIsten Up, and as the 7-year-old version of Michelle Monaghan’s character in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Just that lineup touches upon a variety of different characters and performance types, and that’s a bit part of why Winter remains excited about both. She continued:

Since Modern Family wrapped up its run in 2020, amid constant calls from fans to revive or spinoff the ABC comedy, Winter has largely opted to lend her voice to animated projects like American Dad, Star Trek: Lower Decks and Phineas and Ferb, with The Sisters Grimm serving as her first series regular role since playing Alex Dunphy. On the flip side, Winter has appeared in a handful of live-action indie movies in the past few years, from the 2023 comedy Tripped Up to a trio of 2025 releases: the drama Like Father Like Son, the coming-of-age dramedy Pools and the Zoom-esque horror Don't Log Off.

Given the long wait time between actors recording their performances and when the fully animated projects are released, I wondered if it's ever difficult for Ariel to get excited all over again while promoting those projects. I was surprised to learn the exact opposite is the case, as Winter said it's more difficult to tamp the initial excitement down in the first place, saying:

It's a good point to make, since live-action projects obviously also take time to come together during the post-production process, even if it's not always as extensive as animation can be. But it's still awesome to hear that Winter doesn't have any trouble falling right back into a pumped-up mindset when new projects are on the horizon. She continued:

It's definitely true that not all projects are created and released equally, so the fact that The Sisters Grimm got such a high-profile release is celebratory in and of itself. It’s no secret that plenty of stars moved out of Hollywood for a myriad of reasons, and more continue to do so. Regardless of whether it’s for professional motivations, such as a hiatus or personal ones, all are fully valid. Show business can be tolling and leaving the glitzy bubble has proven to be a great choice for many stars like Modern Family cast alumni Ariel Winter and her move cross country. And the idea seems to be a family affair with the Dunphy patriarch reflecting on leaving L.A. behind.

Ty Burrell’s move to Utah with his wife and two daughters isn’t anything recent. He shared with People about how pleased he is about the move to the Salt Lake City area after the finale after the ABC megahit in 2020 to raise their kids. He also revealed that when they initially arrived he felt like a fish out of water, not being the outdoorsy type, but adapted with time. The Finding Dory alumni said:

It’s wonderful to hear that the Phil Dunphy actor and his real family seemingly had a similarly positive experience as the multi-generational clan did on screen. Though the move was the reason online rumors that Burrell was dead sparked after he missed a Modern Family cast reunion. The relocation certainly makes travel logistics more complicated, but all the same, it sounds like all is well for the foursome in Utah.

As the 2025 TV schedule drums on, it marks five years since the whopping 11 Season award winning series has been on air, as well as seeing the Mr. Peabody & Sherman actor on screen. As mentioned, Burrell living well outside of Tinseltown territory has shifted his career slightly. Post Modern Family, the funnyman has been voice acting in a lot of animated titles, since it's a lot more flexible than being on a set day in and day out.

The 57-year-old was a part of the animated comedic series Duncanville and has more on the way. First is a comedic podcast series, entitled The Good Life, which he created, and is based on his childhood in the PNW. The other, Tightrope!, is in pre-production and will be a humorous animated reinterpretation of the 1950s show for Roku.

For me, If it’s the closest we can get to Ty Burrell’s comedy vibes without actually streaming Modern Family, with a Hulu subscription or a Peacock subscription, I’ll gladly be sat for both. Thankfully though, the Utah resident did admit he’s dreaming of performing in a non-animated project eventually, so fans can breathe a little easier knowing he’ll return from the mountains someday.

But for now, it seems that the like (on-screen) daughter, like (on-screen) father, decision to kick a California zip code is working just fine for Ariel Winter and Ty Burrell.

Ariel Winter was just 11 years old when Modern Family premiered in 2009, and over the next 11 years, America watched her grow up in front of their eyes as middle child Alex Dunphy. The actress — who has a couple of projects expected to hit the 2025 movie calendar — has not been shy about how “difficult” and “awful” things got, and she again got real about some traumatic experiences she had as a young actress in Hollywood.

Getting braces, going through puberty and constant scrutiny over her weight are issues that Ariel Winter has discussed regarding her experience growing up on TV. But as someone whose acting career started when she was still preschool age, the problematic behavior toward her began long before her teen years. The actress told the Daily Mail:

It seems like her experience as a child in the entertainment industry may have led her to her newest project, SOSA Undercover. The true crime docuseries — premiering on the 2025 TV schedule July 17 on YouTube — follows members of the nonprofit SOSA (Safe from Online Sex Abuse) as they work with law enforcement to conduct undercover operations and apprehend sexual predators and traffickers.

Ariel Winter acknowledged that what she went through continued to affect her into adulthood, saying:

It wasn’t just online, either, and while she didn’t want to go into detail, she did say she ended up seeking professional help. The Modern Family star continued:

Ariel Winter has previously opened up about being body-shamed by fans while she was on the Emmy-winning sitcom. She said she was called a “fat slut” when she was 13, and things only got worse when she got on antidepressants and gained 30 pounds. She has reflected on what it felt like to have grown adults writing about her teenage body, saying it really damaged her self-esteem.

In addition to therapy, the Sofia the First star has made other moves in an effort to heal. Winter left Hollywood in 2022 and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, joining a number of celebrities, including Matthew McConaughey, Florence Pugh, James Van Der Beek and more who decided to get out of Los Angeles. She said living in L.A. never allowed her to have a “normal existence,” and she hated being followed by paparazzi and having pictures taken of her.

Hopefully, Ariel Winter has continued to heal from the trauma she suffered as a child, and through her work with SOSA, maybe she’ll help to prevent others from going through similar situations. Winter reflected to People on some parts of her childhood trauma including the regular scrutiny she faced while playing the middle Dunphy child. When the show started, she was just 11 years old, but with every passing year, she'd face more negative headlines about just about anything, but especially her body. That dramatically damaged her confidence. In Winter’s words:

As a fan of the show and of the now 27-year-old, I hate that she had to go through any of this at 14. Unfortunately, it’s not an uncommon subject for young women and girls in Hollywood. She was only 21 at the time of the Modern Family finale. Maybe it's because I’m in a similar age range as Sarah Hyland and have a parasocial big sister feeling toward Ariel Winter, but it's awful to think about anybody receiving such public critiques at such a young age. I’m just glad that the past co-stars still have the Haley-Alex Dunphy bond to support each other through anything.

The Speed Racer alum did share more about the period, noting she knew that regardless of her actions, she’d be talked about and hated on. She said:

Again, it just makes my heart break for the talent she was and is! I do remember some of the headlines and stories that had harsh angles projected onto Winter and being so bummed by it. To me, Winter held her own among her co-stars, but for commentary on her body to overshadow her performance and harm her is a real shame at such a young age.

Thankfully, after the 11 seasons wrapped, the Sofia the First actress made the necessary changes to move on from past triggers. First, she and her boyfriend, Luke Benward, were among many stars to move out of Hollywood. (Virginia is Winter’s home state before she moved to L.A.). Along with the West Coast for East Coast swap, she shared a glimpse into life post-MF and showed off an F-bomb tattoo. It seems that as more time has passed, Winter is continuing to heal and grow from her childhood and TV traumas.

It’s finally March, which means we’re heading into spring, and now, it’s time to dust off the florals in my closet. Ariel Winter has already done that, and honestly, it’s motivating me to find my flower-patterned pieces to wear as the sun starts to come out again. She seriously looked so cute in her little floral dress and was manifesting springtime with it, and that's the kind of energy we need right now.

Ever since she was part of the Modern Family cast, I’ve always loved Ariel Winter’s style. So, it’s always exciting when she posts a new look. Most recently, she took to Instagram to upload a photo dump of “life lately,” and while it seemed to cover everything from the holidays to now, it was the flowery first photo that really caught my attention:

From Lacey Chabert’s floral and vintage-y dresses and Alexandra Daddario’s classic yellow flower dress to JLo’s lavish live flower gown, I love almost all looks that incorporate the beautiful and colorful plants.

Winter’s outfit is especially loveable because it’s extremely pretty while also being accessible. The bright pink floral minidress is an easy staple for anyone who is looking to add a pop of color to their wardrobe.

Honestly, along with the cute fashion-forward image, the rest of Winter’s life update is idyllic too. Featuring cute photos of her and her loved ones (and her many dogs, too), it looks like she’s living her best life. In turn, that has me stoked about what she’s working on professionally, too, and reminiscing on the happy days of Modern Family.

The trend of stars packing up and moving away from Tinsletown has been pretty consistent over the years. The reasons to leave the bounds of LA or even NYC can vary and involve personal reasons such as privacy or the protection of one's family. Some may agree that the spotlight within Hollywood and its surrounding neighborhoods can be a lot. Former Modern Family cast member Ariel Winter followed in the footsteps of Matthew McConaughey (who now lives in Texas) and others by moving away from LA in 2022 and recently discussed the decision.

The Mr. Peabody & Sherman alum moved to Nashville, Tennessee a few years ago with longtime boyfriend Luke Benward. When the 26-year-old actress was interviewed by E! News, she reflected on why her move was important, and it sounds like she doesn't regret the choice she ultimately made. The former child actor had this to say:

Even with the best casts and crews, the magnifying glass that Hollywood has on it is enough for anyone to leave. And, in the case of the Sophia the First star, she already had a lot of people critiquing her for reasons other than her work. So she welcomed the change of scenery post-Modern Family.

Ariel Winter, who played middle child and brainiac Alex Dunphy on the ABC megahit, was only ten years old when she landed the role. During the show's eleven-year run, fans saw the character as well as her siblings and cousins grow up. By extension, audiences saw the child actors themselves mature. Sadly, some fans body-shamed Winter, and she's been open about having to process that.

The Last Movie Star alum is far from the first star to face scrutiny, and that can happen whether one lives in Hollywood or not. Either way, plenty of actors have made the decision to leave. Aside from the aforementioned Matthew McConaughey, Carlos and Alexa PenaVega moved away as well, citing a desire to raise their kids away from LA as well as audition struggles for Carlos. Mark Wahlberg even moved his family to Las Vegas for a fresh start.

Although Ariel Winter is no longer in LA, she and her co-stars keep in touch. She even revealed to E! that she and co-star Noah Gould, who played everyone’s favorite little brother, Luke, are particularly close. Since Modern Family ended a little under five years ago, there has been a lot of activity amongst all the Dunphy-Delgado-Tucker-Pritchett actors, and even a few of them have teased and formulated ideas for what a reunion could look like.

One would hope that if such a project comes to fruition, Ariel Winter will be ready to accept the call. In the meantime, though, I could see her enjoying her home in Nashville with Luke Benward. I'm glad stars aren’t afraid to take the move for their career and more importantly, themselves.

When it comes to the smartest TV detectives we’ve ever seen, Adrian Monk definitely can count himself among them – right next to Columbo, Sherlock Holmes, and Luther (to name a few). For eight seasons of the USA Network series, Adrian Monk’s tendency to see all the details, often tied with his OCD, matched with his personal motivation to get “the guy” following the death of his wife, Trudy, was exciting to tune into week-to-week. All the while, major actors would often guest star. Some of which were big names before Monk, and others that have since skyrocketed into fame. 

Jeffrey Dean Morgan 

Over a decade before Jeffrey Dean Morgan became The Walking Dead’s Negan, the famed TV actor was in the Season 3 premiere of Monk, “Mr. Monk Takes Manhattan.” In the episode, Monk travels with the SFPD team to New York City to do some work in association with the murder of Trudy, but in the meantime, Monk gets embroiled in the case of a recently deceased Latvian ambassador. Morgan’s character catches the detective’s eye in connection to the ambassador’s death. 

Malcolm McDowell

The lead of Stanley Kubrick’s masterful A Clockwork Orange, Malcolm McDowell, made his way into Monk during Season 4 in a particularly great episode of the series that takes the detective into the world of fashion. In “Mr. Monk Goes To A Fashion Show,” he decides to pay a visit to the inspector of his favorite collared shirts when he notices recent inconsistencies. It leads him and Natalie to meet a British fashion designer named Julian Hodge, played by McDowell. 

Jennifer Lawrence

Did you know that Silver Linings Playbook Oscar winner, Jennifer Lawrence, was in Monk? Back in 2006, when the actress was a teenager and had not yet starred in any movies, she had a very small role as a high school mascot in the Season 5 episode “Mr. Monk and the Big Game.” Her head is covered for most of her scene, but she does take off the helmet for a moment in the episode. 

Jason Alexander 

Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander guest starred in Monk for the Season 4 premiere “Mr. Monk and the Other Detective” as another P.I. in town named Marty Eels. During Monk’s latest case, the detective begins to be overshadowed by Alexander’s character, which hilariously has Monk calling him a cheater. As Eels becomes a big competitor for Monk, it’s a blast to see Shalhoub and Alexander act together. 

John Turturro 

Monk perfectly cast the detective’s brother in 2004 by bringing in John Turturro in a fabulous guest role, that he would play in three episodes. Turturro, who is famous for being in movies with the Coen Brothers, Spike Lee and Adam Sandler played Ambrose, who suffers from severe agoraphobia and deepened Monk’s backstory. He was so memorable in the series that he earned an Emmy for “Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series” for the episode in which he debuted the character, in Season 2’s “Mr. Monk and the Three Pies”. 

Stanley Tucci

One of the strongest Monk episodes of the series is definitely Season 5’s “Mr. Monk and the Actor.” In the 2006 episode, an actor named David Ruskin is set to play Adrian Monk in a movie based on his life and comes to shadow Adrian on his cases. Stanley Tucci plays Ruskin as the actor goes a bit too method with the role of Adrian and debunks some demons regarding what it’s like to be Monk. Tucci won an Emmy for the guest role, and was actually a finalist to play Adrian Monk prior to his guest role. 

Rainn Wilson 

Just a couple years before Rainn Wilson would become Dwight Schrute on one of the best sitcoms of all time, The Office, the actor made a small guest appearance on Monk in Season 2. He played a massive baseball fan and collector as Adrian Monk looked into a case involving a star baseball player. 

James Brolin 

Longtime TV and movie actor James Brolin (who is also the father of Josh Brolin and husband to Barbara Streisand), made his way into Monk for 2005’s Vegas episode. Brolin plays a millionaire casino owner who becomes a suspect following the death of his wife, and Stottlemeyer brings in Monk to solve the case. 

Sean Astin 

In Season 5, Lord of the Rings and The Goonies actor, Sean Astin crossed paths with Tony Shalhoub’s Monk in an episode called “Mr. Monk Is At Your Service.” Astin plays a young billionaire, Paul Buchanan, whom Monk and Natalie come across amidst a visit to Natalie’s parents' wealthy neighborhood. Monk ends up going undercover as Paul’s butler to learn more about him. 

Sarah Silverman 

Famed standup comedian, Sarah Silverman, guest starred in three episodes of Monk over the years as a character named Marci Maven. She first became part of the procedural in 2004 for “Mr. Monk and the TV Star,”  where she played an obsessed fan of the star of a hit show made up for the series called Crime Lab S.F. 

Danny Trejo 

In “Mr. Monk Goes To Jail” in Season 2, Danny Trejo, of Spy Kids, From Dusk Till Dawn and Desperado (among many of his movies), also got to work alongside Tony Shalhoub’s Monk. During the episode, Monk goes undercover as the cellmate of Trejo’s character, who is a convicted quadruple murderer. As you may suspect, comedy ensues. 

Snoop Dogg 

Snoop Dogg was also in Monk for the Season’s “Mr. Monk and the Rapper,” where he played a fictional hip hop star, Murderuss. In the episode, Murderuss approaches the detective to hire him to clear his name after becoming the primary suspect in the death of another rapper. The best part? Snoop Dogg actually raps Monk’s famous “here’s what happened” segment at the end. 

Alfred Molina

Beloved character actor, Alfred Molina, has also been part of Monk for a Season 6 episode. What’s interesting about Molina, is he was actually one of the finalists to play the lead role of Adrian Monk before Shalhoub was cast. In his guest role, he played a billionaire software mogul whose beach house has a view of a nudist beach. 

Jon Favreau 

MCU actor and famed director Jon Favreau was in “Mr. Monk Goes To The Dentist,” which aired during the series’ fourth season in 2006. Favreau plays a dentist who Lieutenant Disher goes to and swears murdered someone while he was under anesthesia for a procedure. 

Carmen Electra

All-star actor, model and singer Carmen Electra can be found in the Monk episode “Mr. Monk and the Panic Room” which came out in 2004. The episode has the detective investigating a crime scene where it seems like a chimpanzee has killed his owner. The victim is a record producer and Electra plays his pop star wife. 

Craig T. Nelson 

Poltergeist and Parenthood actor Craig T. Nelson earned a very important role in Monk for its two-part finale, “Mr. Monk and the End.” He plays Judge Ethan Rickover, who was on the California Court of Appeals and has a history with Monk’s late wife, Trudy. 

Tim Curry 

In Season 1, an enemy of Monk’s was introduced as financier Dale “The Whale” Biederbeck. After the character was originated by Adam Arkin, none other than The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s Tim Curry embodied the role for a brief time in “Mr. Monk Goes To Jail.” 

Niecy Nash

Reno 911’s Niecy Nash made a guest spot in Monk in the early days for “Mr. Monk and the Girl Who Cried Wolf.” The episode follows Adrian’s first assistant Sharona as she starts to believe she’s losing her sanity when she keeps seeing a man with a screwdriver sticking out of his ear (that no one else can see). Neicy Nash plays Sharona’s friend and fellow nurse, Varla should step in to assist Monk. 

Jeffrey Donovan 

The star of Burn Notice, which also was on USA Network like Monk, turned up in the detective series in the episode “Mr. Monk and the Astronaut.” In the Season 4 episode, Jeffrey Donovan plays an astronaut who Monk is sure killed someone, but his alibi is airtight… considering he was in space when the murder occurred. 

Laurie Metcalf 

Roseanne actress Laurie Metcalf had some fun on Monk when she guest starred in the Season 4 episode “Mr. Monk Bumps His Head.” When Adrian wakes up in a small town with amnesia, Metcalf’s unhinged character uses the opportunity to convince the detective he is her husband. 

Nick Offerman 

Parks and Recreation’s Nick Offerman made an appearance in 2005’s “Mr. Monk and the Election” before he became famous for playing the very quotable Ron Swanson. Look out for the actor in his clean-shaven days during the Season 3 episode that has Natalie Teager running for the school board. 

Jane Lynch 

Before actress Jane Lynch rocked sweatsuits on Glee, she did guest for “Mr. Monk Gets Married.” In the episode, Randy Disher is concerned about his mother getting suddenly married to a man who is 30 years younger (played by Lost’s Nestor Carbonell) than him and asks Monk to look into it. This leads Monk and Sharona to pretend to be a married couple for a retreat that Lynch’s psychologist character is in charge of. 

Amy Sedaris 

The very funny Amy Sedaris was on two episodes of Monk to play Sharona’s younger sister, Gail. She first appeared in 2002’s “Mr. Monk and the Earthquake” before also being part of 2003’s “Mr. Monk Goes To The Theater.” Since she’s an actress in the series, her part in a local play that turns into a crime scene makes the second episode a particularly juicy appearance for Sedaris. 

Rachel Dratch

Saturday Night Live’s Rachel Dratch found her way into Monk for “Mr. Monk and the Missing Granny.” In the 2004 episode, Dratch’s character is stressed about the kidnapping of her grandmother and offers to help reinstate Monk to the police force if he can help find her alive. 

Howie Mandel

The Gremlins actor and game and competition show host played the role of Ralph Roberts in two episodes of Monk in 2008. Howie Mandel played the head of a religious cult called Siblings of the Sun in the Season 7 episodes. Mandel is a germaphobe in real life like Monk is.

Holland Taylor

Two and a Half Men actress Holland Taylor played Natalie Teager’s mother Peggy in two episodes of Monk. In the series, Peggy is a well-off woman who married into the Davenport Toothpaste business. She is part of 2005’s “Mr. Monk Goes To A Wedding” and 2007’s “Mr. Monk Is At Your Service.” 

Gena Rowlands

Gena Rowlands is an Academy Award nominee who starred in movies like Woman Under The Influence and Gloria in her youth before famously playing the older version of Allie in The Notebook. In Season 7’s “Mr. Monk and the Lady Next Door,” Monk becomes friendly with Rowlands’ Marge Johnson, but suspicions about her true intentions begin to grow. 

Ariel Winter

Before Ariel Winter became part of Modern Family’s Dunphy family, the actress was in Monk as an eight-year-old for “Mr. Monk and the Astronaut.” She has a small but pivotal role as the neighbor of the victim, whose place in the story leads Monk to track down the killer. 

Julie Bowen

In Season 7’s “Mr. Monk and the Bully,” Julie Bowen plays a character that Adrian Monk investigates after his childhood bully comes out of the woodwork asking for help from the detective. The Truman Show’s Noah Emmerich plays her husband and Monk’s former bully. Julie Bowen is a two-time Emmy winner for her leading role in ABC’s Modern Family. 

Eric Stonestreet

Modern Family’s Cameron Tucker was on Monk the same year the hit ABC comedy first arrived on network television. In “Mr. Monk and the UFO,” Eric Stonestreet plays a small role as a local mechanic named Boom-Boom whom Monk offends and ends up raising his estimate. 

Sung Kang 

Sung Kang, who famously played Han in the Fast and the Furious movies, also guest starred in Monk as two separate characters. First in “Mr. Monk vs. the Cobra” he plays an employee of a martial arts school they visit while investigating the death of a fictional kung fu star, Sonny Chow. Four years later, Kang stars in “Mr. Monk on Wheels” as the cousin of a criminal named John Kuramoto.

Angela Kinsey 

The Office actress Angela Kinsey had a guest role in Monk as Arlene Boras for two episodes of the series. She plays an X-ray technician who was in Alfred Molina’s episode, “Mr. Monk and the Naked Man.” She reprised her role for the 100th episode of Monk as well. 

Ariel Winter was a fixture in primetime for a decade thanks to her role as Alex Dunphy on Modern Family, but bringing the laughs on ABC didn't mean she couldn't deliver in a dramatic show. Case in point: Law & Order: SVU, which featured the actress as a guest star in a Season 21 episode back in 2019. Recently, the franchise's social media pages have been calling back to her performance as "next level," and revisiting that episode (available streaming with a Peacock Premium subscription) led me to discover just how many Modern Family vets have appeared on SVU.

Ariel Winter In Law & Order: SVU Season 21

Ariel Winter appeared in the second episode of Season 21 of SVU, called "The Darkest Journey Home," back in October of 2019. The actress sported a different look than she usually did as the bespectacled and dark-haired Alex Dunphy, and it was a look she once again sported following the end of Modern Family. She played Raegan, a young woman who was attacked and needed Benson's help in putting her memories back together and catching the men responsible. It was a great episode back in 2019, and the Law & Order Instagram page made sure to remind followers of that recently:

Raegan's storyline was quite dark compared to what Ariel Winter would perform on Modern Family, but it's no surprise that she was eager to join Mariska Hargitay on the long-running drama for an episode. Speaking with EW before her episode aired, she shared:

While most SVU fans likely can't relate to Winter living the dream of getting the opportunity to guest star, I think plenty can relate to becoming a fan of the show thanks to USA airing mega SVU marathons! She's also only one of the Modern Family Dunphys to come to the Law & Order franchise, although she's definitely the most recent.

Other Modern Family Vets On SVU

Ariel Winter is in fact one of four former Modern Family stars to appear on Law & Order: SVU, with one of her on-screen family members actually playing more than one character on the same show opposite Mariska Hargitay.

Sarah Hyland, who played Hailey Dunphy for all eleven seasons of Modern Family (which you can revisit streaming with a Hulu subscription), made her SVU debut back in the Season 3 premiere in 2001, called "Repression." She returned in the Season 10 episode called "Hothouse" in 2009, playing a different character. She would also appear in Law & Order and Law & Order: Trial By Jury for good measure before landing her sitcom role.

Ty Burrell, a.k.a. Phil Dunphy, guest-starred on SVU in Season 3's "Execution," which aired in 2002 as part of the same season as his future on-screen daughter's first episode. He would also play two different characters on the original Law & Order between 2000-2003.

Finally, Julie Bowen appeared in a 2008 episode of SVU just one year before she'd begin her long run as Claire Dunphy. Her episode was called "Trials" and was the Season 10 premiere, also featuring Beverly Hills, 90210 alum Luke Perry.

Fortunately, it's not hard to find any of those episodes if you're in the mood to see the Modern Family stars in roles other than the Dunphys, as SVU streams on both Peacock and Hulu. NBC has also announced the fall premiere date for Law & Order: SVU Season 26, where it will air as part of the network's Law & Order Thursdays in the 2024 TV schedule.

Candace Cameron Bure has made headlines for a few reasons over the years, but one particular viral moment in 2020 truly managed to capture the public’s attention. That year, the Full House alum shared a photo in which her husband, Valeri “Val” Bure grabbed one of her breasts. The boob grab photo sparked backlash from a number of commentators on social media, leading Bure to clap back with some thoughts. Now, a little less than four years later, fellow actress Ariel Winter has revealed a funny boobie grab moment of her own and shared it in a way that differed from Bure’s. 

When the now-48-year-old Fuller House star initially shared the photo of her and her husband, she dropped it on social media as a typical Instagram post. That essentially opened up the pic to less-than-positive responses from the general public. With that, the former child actress deleted the post but eventually reshared it on her Instagram story. 26-year-old Ariel Winter opted to send her latest pic to the latter, and it shows her with 29-year-old boyfriend Luke Benward. The actor can be seen holding the longtime Modern Family cast member’s right breast while they’re taking a selfie. Check out the image, which is apparently a bts pic from a “parent’s night out”: 

Some may still find it hard to believe that Candace Cameron Bure took so much flak for sharing a photo in which her hubby was touching one of her teats. Based on the reactions at the time, some of her followers were of the thinking that it was inappropriate for her husband of nearly 28 years to touch her in such a way. When Bure responded to her followers’ displeasure with the post, she shared the following sentiments: 

At the time, some of the people who left comments also came to the former Hallmark star’s defense. Among the more notable people to do so was her own daughter, Natasha Bure. When reacting to her mom and dad’s boob grab pic, Natasha admitted that she found it “hysterical.” She also marveled over the novelty of such a snapshot, as she explained that her “dad never takes photos with anybody in our family.” Unsurprisingly, the viral pic also made Candace’s “top nine” moments of 2020. I rather doubt that Ariel Winter’s photo will create similar hoopla akin to Candace Cameron Bure’s post at this point. Though, on the off chance that fans screengrab it and share some unfavorable posts about it, I’m sure Winter wouldn’t take much stock in what the haters have to say.

On Wednesday, X-Men: Apocalypse alum Olivia Munn revealed that in 2023, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and that a month after her biopsy, she had a double mastectomy. The 43-year-old star, who was most recently seen at the Academy Awards on Sunday, wrote that her journey has significantly impacted her health, but that she hopes that others find inspiration and support in her story. Since sharing, a slew of celebrities have rushed to social media to support Munn and share their kind words and thoughts. 

Munn shared photos of herself on Instagram undergoing treatments along with a breakdown of what her cancer journey has been like so far. She shared that she’s had four surgeries in the past 10 months, and has spent many days in bed. Munn went on to say that she felt the need to keep her diagnosis private because: “I needed to catch my breath and get through some of the hardest parts before sharing.” Despite the dire news, support from Munn’s peers and fellow stars has been pouring in. Retired competitive figure skater Michelle Kwan wrote:

The actress, who appeared on Tales of the Walking Dead, also wrote that if it wasn’t for her OB/GYN, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, she would’ve found her cancer until a year later, when she had her next scheduled mammogram. She stated that Dr. Aliabadi decided to be proactive and calculated her Breast Cancer Risk Assessment score, which eventually led to a biopsy that showed that she had “Luminal B cancer in both breasts”. 

Another one of the stars who reached out during this extremely tough time was Jillian Bell, who wrote:

Munn continued, stating that she’s a lucky case because she and her doctor were able to catch it early enough before it became too severe, allowing her to have more treatment options. She went on to thank her entire medical team, calling Dr. Aliabadi her “guardian angel”, along with her friends and family. 

She also thanked her partner, comedian John Mulaney, writing: “I’m so thankful to John for the nights he spent researching what every operation and medication meant, and what side effects and recovery I could expect. For being there before I went into each surgery and being there when I woke up…”

Just by the comments, it’s obvious that her emotional post drove many to tears, and she has a huge community rallying around her. Ming-Na Wen wrote:

Olivia Munn’s cancer journey is absolutely shocking and heartbreaking. Hopefully, her story will inspire others to act early and talk to their doctors about testing and preventative measures. We wish nothing but the best for Munn and her loved ones during this time, and are hoping for a complete recovery.

Though she may be best known for spending over a decade making audiences laugh as one of TV’s most beyond-her-years youths, Modern Family’s Alex Dunphy, Ariel Winter’s talents certainly aren’t limited to comedic projects. The animal-adoring actress has brought the goods to the majority of major TV and film genres, though it’s arguable that she’s perhaps least accomplished in the sci-fi and fantasy realms. That said, she did go to (fake) space for Fox’s Stars on Mars, and has now shown off her kickass Grogu onesie from a galaxy far, far away. And you can’t tell me Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin would deny how adorbs they are.

Winter, who is still rocking her vivid Jessica Rabbit-esque redhead look, took to Instagram with a mini-photo dump from what appears to be a splendidly relaxing trip to Napa Valley’s Carneros Resort and Spa. And while I would never attempt to deny the loveliness of her babydoll dress, her hat, and the scenery at large, it’s perhaps telling that I’m way more into Star Wars onesies around the house than tipping wine bottles in the sun. (Although still bring on the wine indoors, obviously.) Check out the Phineas and Ferb vet’s IG shots below. 

Ain’t no shame in the “wearing a onesie, fanny pack and tennis shoes 350 days out of the year” game. Especially when the jammies are so strong with the Force as those are. I kinda wish there was a mock hovering pram around the waist, but that would probably be pretty cumbersome and not something one would want to throw on for 99% of 2023. 

Now, obviously wearing something that features the centuries-old being does not indicate that Ariel Winter herself would want to take part in a future season of The Mandalorian, or in any of the upcoming Star Wars movies, such as Dave Filoni’s upcoming mega-crossover film. But what if she did? Would that be a possibility at any point (obviously after the ongoing strikes come to an end)? 

Considering quite a few of Ariel Winter’s past projects were directly tied to Disney — Modern Family, Sofia the First, Captain Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Minnie’s Bow-Toons, Milo Murphy’s Law, and the aforementioned Phineas and Ferb — the connections are already in place for her to make contact with the powers that be behind Star Wars. Even if it was just for a voice role, that would be pretty badass. And hey, since she co-starred with her TV dad Ty Burrell in the Mr. Peabody and Sherman movie, maybe he could also join in on this completely hypothetical Star Wars appearance that I’m pretending is happening. 

While all things Star Wars can be found with a Disney+ subscription, Stars on Mars eps can be streamed with a Hulu subscription, which is also how one can watch all 11 seasons of Modern Family.  

While some Modern Family fans will probably forever see star Ariel Winter through the prism of her role as the brainy middle child Alex Dunphy, the actress has obviously continued to age and mature outside of that fictional world. At 25, she’s coming off of her first big reality competition series, Fox’s Stars on Mars, and the sky's the limit for what she could jump into next. Though some tattoo-covering makeup may be needed if she aims to join any family-friendly ventures, as the new body art she’s showing off features an A+ F-bomb that her former TV parents might not be so approving of. 

Winter, who embraced life as a (dyed) redhead ahead of Stars on Mars, took to Instagram to give fans an early peek at her newest tattoo, which is a fun and wonderfully impolite riff on modern-day Sweethearts candies. Check it out below.

Ariel Winter’s newest piece of tattoo excellence comes from SwampTats, real name Alexander Morales, and while it’s not colorful enough to actually be mistaken for one of the classic conversation heart treats, I’d love to have a bunch of them that say “Go Fuck Yourself.” It’s not so much a conversation as a way to end one, but then being quiet AF for a while never hurt anybody, amirite?

As for her top two hearts, I love the idea of having the word Cozy written someone on one's person. You can pretend it's a button, and then press it, and feel cozy. The same is possibly true for the Go Fuck Yourself option, and one can imagine that she would use it with reckless abandon in reference to her temporary Stars on Mars co-star Lance Armstrong after his controversial transgender athletes tirade, though results may vary.

I'm not sure that Alex Dunphy would be so quick to proudly display a permanent F-bomb on her person, but I kinda think Ty Burrell's Phil would be secretly into it even if he joined in a shared front with Julie Bowen's Claire in questioning the choice. Luke would be all about that shit, though.

As far as her future projects go, Ariel Winter is set to co-star in the wild-night-out dramedy Pools, which she’d previously posted about, as well as the video-chat thriller Don’t Log Off, which also stars her IRL boyfriend Luke Benward. Warning! The following contains spoilers for the series premiere of Fox's Stars On Mars, called "The Experiment Begins." Read at your own risk!

Fox has a knack for delivering offbeat shows like The Masked Singer and Farmer Wants A Wife, but this one takes the cake. Stars On Mars has an out-of-this-world format in which celebrities compete in challenges whilst also challenging themselves and each other. It's a lot to take in but I'm on board with the show after its premiere mainly because these three celebrity cast members already made it a blast to watch. 

William Shatner is a fine host for Stars On Mars, but he's just an honorable mention in this story. Below are the stars that made the premiere a hit for me, and hopefully, they'll stick around long enough to keep me invested in the rest of the season. Actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse could've made this list but will also get an honorable mention after being voted off in the premiere. 

Ariel Winter

Ariel Winter's red hairstyle might've been the center of conversation prior to the Stars On Mars premiere, but the actress' scenes were some of the highlights of the first episode. Winter was a blast to watch because of how hilarious she was, whether it was intentional or not. The actress mistook former pro cyclist Lance Armstrong for astronaut Neil Armstrong and was a splash of positive Gen-Z energy amongst a mainly older group of competitors. I'm very excited to see her continue to compete in this big follow-up to Modern Family, even if she isn't quite up to date on all the historical facts needed for life on Mars. 

Marshawn Lynch

If you've watched Marshawn Lynch's episode in Murderville, you'd already know he's among the funniest former professional athletes acting in Hollywood. The former running back previously proved that with his cameo appearance on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and he's proving it again on Stars On Mars. Lynch was a competent leader in the team's first mission and wasn't afraid to tell people how he thought things really were. I particularly liked the brief tension he had with Lance Armstrong when he asked whether or not cycling was a real sport. Having someone who will stir the pot is always necessary for entertaining reality television, and I think Lynch could be one of those pot-stirrers that propels this show to greatness. 

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey took some time off from the WWE and joined Stars On Mars, but you'd think she was still in the ring based on this first episode. Even though she's not fighting anyone, Rousey's competitive spirit burned bright in the first challenge, and it's clear she's looking to prove she's the best participant as often as she possibly can. I imagine that will cause some tension with her castmates down the road, especially if they're paired with her and not pulling their weight. I could see Rousey getting in someone's face and screaming if she's pushed to do so, but we'll just have to wait and see what the rest of this season holds. 

Stars On Mars airs on Fox on Mondays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Those who missed the premiere can catch the episode the next day with their Hulu subscription and catch up before the next episode. 

Ariel Winter has spent recent weeks teasing her next TV gig, Fox's unique competition Stars on Mars. While fans are obviously excited about her return to the small screen, we've all been just as excited by Winter rocking some Jessica Rabbit-esque red hair for the show. Viewers have only gotten glimpses of her new bright red tresses, but now, they’ve got a better look at the Modern Family alum’s new life as a redhead.

The TV actress hopped on her Instagram account to show off her full look for the upcoming Fox unscripted series. Winter posted official promotional photos from the series, allowing followers to see her in the full form-fitting spacesuit with an out-of-this-world-ish helmet. However, no helmet could possibly derail her red hair from standing out the most. Get a look at Winter giving space-age Little Mermaid in the post below.

Ariel Winter completely owned her look from (crimson) head to toe. While fans might love her dark brown Alex Dunphy tresses, or the hyper-blonde look she adopted in 2022, red is undeniably a good look on her. Having Mars' similar hues behind her makes her new hair color pop even more. Even the red-orange accents of her spacesuit work well with her fire-red hair, and the color popped even more against her fair skin. If the producers reveal that this show is actually just all about making Winter's hair look good, I wouldn't be too shocked.

Seeing her red hair in HD made me even more excited to see what her Modern Family follow-up show has in store for the viewers. Compared to the sarcastic middle Dunphy child, it appears Winter is going to have a fun time as she and other celebrities — including Vanderpump Rules’ Tom Schwartz, 'NSYNC's Lance Bass, and Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Porsha Williams — embark on a faux space mission to the Red Planet. They are joined by Star Trek alum William Shatner, who was perfectly cast as the show's host. The upcoming reality series might serve as a nice departure from the ABC sitcom’s family hijinks. 

Stars on Mars seemed like the first of several projects the 25-year-old actress has coming up in the future. Winter is ready to jump back into the Hollywood grind after leaving Los Angeles for Virginia a few years ago to escape the everpresent grip of the media. She already has another potential series in the work after replacing singer Demi Lovato in the pilot Hungry. Clearly Ariel Winter’s post-Modern Family career continues to thrive as far as acting is concerned. We'll just have to see how the whole astronaut thing pays off. 

Viewers will get to see Ariel Winter and co. compete to become the last space cadet when Stars on Mars premieres on June 5 at 8 pm EST on Fox. In the three years since Modern Family ended, much of the cast has been busy and has moved onto other ventures. Ariel Winter has mostly laid low from a professional standpoint but is now gearing up for her big return to TV. The actress was recently confirmed to be joining William Shatner for Stars on Mars. The show will see an ensemble of celebrities facing off with each other in the hopes of being crowned the brightest star in the galaxy. Winter has yet to earn that title, but she's already shining brightly in new photos that show her rocking Jessica Rabbit-esque hair and an astronaut suit.

Ariel Winter took to Instagram to show off her red-headed look and cosmic getup. Ironically (or maybe un-ironically), her long locks possess a color that similar to the shade of the Red Planet. This is a striking fit, and that's saying a lot because the 25-year-old actresses has showed off some other unique looks in the past. With the color of her hair, I'd say that she's more than ready to compete on the reality series. She's really working it but, of course, we mean no disrespect to the greatness that is Jessica herself.

The upcoming out-of-this world Fox series will see the group of celebrities -- consisting of actors, athletes and more -- take on different quests given to them by Mission Control a.k.a. William Shatner. Contestants will seek to survive weekly eliminations to become the last “celebronaut” standing. Marshawn Lynch, Natasha Leggero and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are just a few of the stars that the Modern Family alum will go toe to toe with.

Ariel Winter’s Stars on Mars gig comes nearly a year after she revealed why she left Hollywood for a more low-key life in Virginia, after living in LA for most of her life. She didn’t necessarily leave the industry, though. She just wanted a change in her life, so, during the pandemic, Winter decided to leave the city with her boyfriend. Some probably wondered how she'd return to TV, and this is certainly an interesting way to do it.

This series is a bit different than what most are used to seeing from the actress doing. (And her reserved character, Alex Dunphy, certainly wouldn't have participated in such a competition.) Still, it'll be refreshing to see her take on such an endeavor. I'm confident that she has what it takes to make it to the top and, even if she doesn't win, she'll look fabulous while competing. 

Stars on Mars doesn't seem to be quite as brutal as Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. Still, I'd expect William Shatner to really put Ariel Winter and co. to the test. The series premieres Monday, June 5 as part of the 2023 TV schedule, so be sure to tune in to see if Winter has the right stuff to become the winner!

It’s been over three years since Modern Family ended, and Ariel Winter is finally making her return to television, and of all the people she could join on screen, she'll be sharing it with Star Trek icon William Shatner. As the Modern Family cast moved on to other projects, specifically of the scripted variety, I bet not many pictured the Alex actress being in the same series as Shatner for her next major project, I know I didn't. 

Winter is set to take part in the new Fox un-scripted series Stars on Mars. Premiering on June 5, the series will see 12 celebrities prepare to launch to the red planet to compete and conquer Mars until there is one space invader left, claiming the title of “the brightest star in the galaxy.” Shatner was previously announced to return to Fox for the new galactic series, and he will be the one to hand out interstellar quests as Mission Control. Although it’s not exactly Star Trek or Fox’s brutal celebrity competition series Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, a fun Mars-centric competition seems like an out-of-this-world idea. 

Joining Ariel Winter in the space station will be Lance Armstrong, Natasha Leggero, Marshawn Lynch, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Adam Rippon, Ronda Rousey, and many more, making for quite the ensemble. The stars will compete against each other in missions and vote to eliminate a crew member each week, and I have not doubt that William Shatner will also be having a grand time seeing everyone struggle and prove their worth for Mars.

Ariel Winter is no stranger to working with a wide range of stars, as Modern Family had some great guest stars over its 11-season run. However, with this news series, I can't help but think about how wild it is that this ABC comedy alum will be joining William Shatner of all people on a space adventure. Knowing that Alex Dunphy is competing for a spot in the galaxy and Captain Kirk is handing her assignments is a strange thought, but it will make for good television, especially with everyone else involved in it.

Since Stars on Mars is a competition series with eliminations every week, it’s unknown how long Winter will be on the series and how much she will interact with Shatner. Even though no one really saw this coming, especially considering it's the actress’ first big role since the ABC series ended, her being surrounded by a wide range of celebrities is bound to be entertaining. 

Stars on Mars is set to premiere on Monday, June 5 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, so in just a month, Ariel Winter will be making her highly-anticipated return to television and appearing alongside the intergalactic man himself, William Shatner. The 2023 TV schedule is heating up for the summer, so while some shows will be ending soon for the season, summer is just getting started, and its programming just might be out of this world.

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams are married! The Modern Family actress and the Bachelor Nation alum finally were able to tie the knot after having pushed the date back multiple times due to the pandemic. The couple didn’t give up their hopes of celebrating with all of their friends and family, and their patience certainly paid off. Among the many guests gathered to celebrate the happy couple were Hyland’s TV family from the ABC sitcom, and seeing the posts from this Modern Family cast reunion is just what my soul needs right now.

The big event was held on Saturday, August 20, at the Sunstone Winery near Santa Barbara, California, per People, as Sarah Hyland welcomed Sofia Vergara, Nolan Gould, Ariel Winter, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Julie Bowen to watch her say “I do” to her love of five years. While the Haley actress and her new husband were not present in the Instagram posts, it seems more than clear that a good time was had by other members of the Pritchett/Dunphy gang!

Also in attendance for the big day were Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s husband Justin Mikita and Sofia Vergara’s son Manalo Vergara. Mikita may have never been on the sitcom, but it’s clear that he’s definitely an unofficial member of the fam! Nolan Gould embraced his honorary uncle while also getting some love from his TV sister Ariel Winter.

During Sarah Hyland’s lengthy engagement, she revealed that back when Wells Adams was ready to propose, he not only asked for her parents’ blessing, but also for the blessing of her TV parents — Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell — before getting down on one knee. It looks like they approved of the Bachelor in Paradise bartender, because “mom” was in attendance! Sofia Vergara made sure to capture her “step-daughter” in one of her selfies at the ceremony:

The wedding guests appeared to be enjoying each other’s company almost as much as fans enjoy seeing them together again! Sofia Vergara shared what appears to be a photo booth shot of her with her crazy Modern Family co-stars:

Photo booth shots aren’t always flattering (isn’t that the fun of them, though?), and Jesse Tyler Ferguson amusingly voiced his dismay about how good Sofia Vergara and his husband looked in the picture:

Wells Adams met Sarah Hyland in 2016, the same year he appeared on ABC’s reality dating shows The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise. He did find love — just not on the shows — when they started dating the next year. The couple got engaged in summer 2019 and had planned to get married a year later in August 2020. We all know how 2020 went down, and with Hyland being immunocompromised due to her kidney transplants, they decided to wait until it was safe for everyone to celebrate together. 

Hopefully in the coming days we’ll get to see some photos of the newlywed with her TV family as well, but in lieu of the bride and groom, at least Sofia Vergara was able to get us a picture of the cake:

A good way for an actor to start out is by making a guest appearance on a TV crime procedural series like Bones — the Emmy-nominated show starring Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz that ran for 12 seasons on Fox. In fact, the fun, clever, and romantic drama inspired by the life of forensic pathologist Kathy Reichs was an early credit, or even first credit, for many actors before really making a name for themselves. Michael B. Jordan (Perry Wilson)

Before becoming one of the most popular and respected actors of his generation with stellar performances in Fruitvale Station, the Creed movies, and Black Panther as one of the MCU’s most memorable villains, Michael B. Jordan was best known for television roles of varying magnitude, such as the time he was guest star on House. Earlier than that, however, he appeared on Season 5 of Bones as a young man who encounters Booth’s protective side when he starts dating Camille Saroyan’s (Tamara Taylor) adoptive daughter, Michelle (Tiffany Hines).

Jaimie Alexander (Molly Briggs)

Another Marvel movies star who guested on Bones just a few years before playing Lady Sif in the Thor franchise was Jaimie Alexander. In the Season 4 episode “The Beaver in the Otter,” Brennan and Booth eventually learn her character knows more than she would let on about the body of a fellow college student found inside the school mascot uniform.

Sean Gunn (Dr. Howard Fitch)

Yet another Marvel movie veteran with a Bones episode on his resume is Sean Gunn, who plays both Kraglin and provides the motion capture for Rocket Raccoon in his brother James’ Guardians of the Galaxy films. Actually, Gunn had already completed his stint in the Gilmore Girls cast and made his MCU debut when he a made a small appearance as a forensic science convention attendee in the crime procedural’s tenth season.

Jennifer Holland (Nicole Twist)

Another actor with both personal and professional connections to James Gunn is his real-life romantic partner and Peacemaker cast member Jennifer Holland. In 2011, the former model also had a brief role on a Season 6 episode of Bones as the sole social media friend of a recent murder victim, with whom she had suffered a falling out regarding a counterfeit handbag.

Aldis Hodge (Jimmy Merton)

Speaking of DCEU actors, Black Adam cast member Aldis Hodge is also known for the TNT series Leverage, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man, and the Oscar nominated movie, One Night in Miami…, to name few. He also starred on the first season of Bones as a military veteran still struggling to overcome painful memories when he is questioned by Booth and Brennan about the death of his former comrade.

Laz Alonso (George Warren)

Speaking of comic book adaptation stars, Laz Alonso is best known today for taking out corrupt supes as Mother’s Milk on Amazon Prime’s hit series based on Garth Ennis' The Boys. Years earlier, he appeared on Bones Season 1 as the brother of a woman whose mummified remains were found, along with a bag of methamphetamines, by Brennan inside the wall of a night club.

Giancarlo Esposito (Richard Benoit)

Speaking of The Boys cast members, Emmy nominee Giancarlo Esposito is also known for many other legendary (and very sinister) roles in TV series like Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian. One of his lesser-known (but still pretty sinister) TV characters is that of a New Orleans voodoo shop owner who threatens to curse Brennan when she suspects him of murder in Season 1 of Bones.

Aaron Paul (Stew Ellis)

Speaking of Breaking Bad cast members, three-time Emmy-winning Jesse Pinkman actor Aaron Paul just happened to appear on the first season of Bones before he was cast on the hit AMC series as well. He played a comic book store owner whom Brennan and Booth confront about the murder of a teen who was so obsessed with superheroes that he tried to become one.

Dean Norris (Don Timmons)

Aaron Paul’s Breaking Bad co-star and DEA Agent Hank Schrader actor, Dean Norris, also appeared on Bones — and not just once, but two times. In Season 4, he played the owner of a pitbull who may have been responsible for the death of his own veterinarian, and would return in the uncredited and unrelated role of a court juror in the following season.

Michael Cudlitz (Lucky)

Speaking of actors from hit AMC shows, Michael Cudlitz would join The Walking Dead cast in Season 4 as military veteran Abraham Ford, which is just about his best-known role to date. Years before then, he had a guest spot on Bones Season 3 as the operator of a lodge where people indulge in a unique form a sexual role play involving one person pretending to be a horse and the other their “rider.”

Kyle Gallner (Jeremy Farrell)

In addition to a very brief stint on The Walking Dead (one episode), Kyle Gallner is a bit of an underrated Scream King for his appearances in Jennifer’s Body and the fifth installment of the Scream movies from 2022, most notably. However, his role on the Bones Season 2 episode “The Girl with the Curl” as the older brother of a 9-year-old beauty pageant star harboring a dark secret was not particularly scary, albeit a bit upsetting.

Theo Rossi (Nick Arno)

Theo Rossi of Sons of Anarchy cast and Luke Cage fame dealt with a very different kind of zombie horde when he was cast in Army of the Dead — writer and director Zack Snyder’s Netflix original action-horror flick that was set in a post-apocalyptic Las Vegas. Coincidentally, the actor also appeared on a Season 2 Bones episode that took place in Sin City, playing the owner of a fight club that Brennan and Booth infiltrate by posing as a couple.

Indira Varma (Inspector Cate Pritchard)

There are also members of the Star Wars universe who have made appearances on Bones — such as Obi-Wan Kenobi cast member Indira Varma, who played Tala Durith on the Disney+ original limited series. The actor played a Scotland Yard inspector  whom Brennan refers to as the “British version of Booth” while working a case together in a 2008 two-part episode set in the United Kingdom.

Jordan Fisher (Ian Johnson)

While he was already well on his way to securing himself as one of his generation’s most exceptional, multi-talented young performers, actor, singer, dancer, and Work It star Jordan Fisher got to put his best talents on display when he appeared on Bones. In a Season 11 episode that is easily one of the more musical of the whole series (not to mention how Pentatonix stars Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying also guest star), Fisher plays a member of collegiate a cappella group whose leader is found dead.

Justina Machado (Lupe Rojas)

Also known for busting some epic dancing moves (particularly with her successful stint on Dancing with the Stars) is Netflix’s One Day at a Time star Justina Machado, who had previously had a major role on HBO’s Six Feet Under. In between, she appeared on a Season 6 Bones episode as the ex-girlfriend of a man who was found dead in a cave along with the woman he left her for, which automatically makes her a prime suspect in the case.

Ariel Winter (Liza)

Fellow sitcom star Ariel Winter (who played Alex Dunphy in the Modern Family cast for 11 seasons) also has a recurring voice role on Disney Channel’s animated series, Elena of Avalor, in common with Justina Machado, in addition to both guest starring on Bones episodes. Actually, the then-8-year-old also appeared alongside Kyle Gallner in the aforementioned Season 2 episode “The Girl with the Curl” as a young dancer.

Taylor Kinney (Jimmy Fields)

Also known for playing a solder in the Oscar-winning 2013 film, Zero Dark Thirty, Taylor Kinney is best known from his recurring role on The Vampire Diaries cast and on Chicago Fire as regular character Kelly Severide. Before any of these credits came about, the actor played a collegiate basketball player whose hot-shot teammate is found dead underneath the gym bleachers on a Season 3 episode of Bones.

Ryan Michelle Bathe (Erin Miller)

Speaking of NBC drama stars, Ryan Michelle Bathe had a memorable recurring role alongside her real-life husband, Sterling K. Brown, in the This is Us cast before becoming the heroic lead of The Endgame cast in 2022. Much earlier, she had a guest appearance on Bones in a Season 4 episode as a woman with a “Cleopatra haircut” who serves as the estate lawyer to a family whose recently deceased loved one is discovered by Brennan to have been murdered when she attends his funeral.

Celebrities have been leaving Hollywood for years, but this trend has really accelerated during the pandemic era. Chris Hemsworth and Matthew McConaughey were pre-pandemic defectors from LA, but in more recent years, Ariel Winter left Hollywood for the other coast, as did other celebrities, including James Van Der Beek, who also moved during the Covid-19 era. The list may be long, but among those early defectors were Hallmark’s Alexa PenaVega (and her frequent on-screen partner and husband Carlos PenaVega), who recently opened up about the whys behind saying goodbye to Tinseltown. 

As it turns out, there was a myriad of reasons the couple left Hollywood, but chief among them was her husband’s mental state. In an interview, Alexa opened up about the rejections Carlos was facing during a time of change for them. She told Fox News:

Those "retirement" plans came much earlier, however. The actress opened up about how the family planning component really led them to realize a move out of California made the most sense. They simply felt their kids would do better if they were raised elsewhere, and ultimately did have three kids between 2016 and 2021 whom they've raised outside of LA. She recalled:

A lot of times when people defect from Los Angeles, it’s because kids are involved. Mathew McConaughey’s wife Camila Alves opened up about being ready to leave the city in order for their kids to avoid paparazzi. Alves and McConaughey wanted to give them a “private way of growing up.” In the Hallmark star’s case, though, leaving Hollywood sounds like it was a really tough decision for her personally. 

Her story is a little different than a lot of the other celebrities who decided Hollywood wasn’t for them. In the Hemsworth case, the Thor: Love and Thunder actor and his wife Elsa Pataky wanted to raise their kids in nature, in a place where they could spend a lot of time out of doors and even ride horses. And Ariel Winter previously explained she was ready for a change and just thought “why not?” In her case, kids didn’t factor into the equation at all, so it was a great time for her to make a massive life change. There's no right or wrong reason behind making the decision, and to note, plenty of other celebs do stay in LA over the long haul. 

Alexa PenaVega was promoting the release of her new book What if Love is the Point, which focuses on her career as a child star in Spy Kids, leading into her adult career and her relationship with Carlos. Since leaving Hollywood, the two have continued working, and even work together a fair amount. Hallmark’s had Carlos and Alexa starring opposite one another in the now-cancelled Picture Perfect mysteries series, as well as a few one-off romances like Love at Sea. 

Her next Hallmark movie with her husband actually releases in August of this year. Love in the Limelight is about a couple who interacted as pen pals for years. But will sparks fly when “the former boy band singer” returns to their hometown? That flick is part of Hallmark’s summer movies schedule and will premiere on August 6th.

It used to be common for major actors to live in Hollywood or its sister acting city New York, but over the past several years a slew of celebrities have shifted away from that mindset, leaving Tinseltown. The list of celebrities no longer calling Los Angeles home is varied, from Marvel stars like Chris Hemsworth to a-listers like Matthew McConaughey and even famous TV personalities like James Van Der Beek. Now, Modern Family star Ariel Winter has explained why she’s also continued the trend. 

Ariel Winter has lived in Los Angeles for most of her life, unlike the myriad transplants and actor hopefuls who head there every year. However, she recently revealed on her Modern Family co-star Julie Bowen’s podcast Quitters that during the pandemic she’d really been thinking about what would lie ahead if she moved. She noted people always asked her “where would I go?”

Ariel Winter and her boyfriend Luke Benward moved from California to Virginia, where Winter was originally born before starting work in Hollywood at a young age. The actress notes she still has family in the area, and while the move was a momentous decision, she just told herself, “If I don’t like it somewhere I can leave.” 

It might seem like a huge jump to exit the place you’ve lived for the majority of your life and take a car across the country to move to the opposite coast, but Ariel Winter says the move really made sense for herself and her partner. She says, in fact, that she never enjoyed living in LA. 

The Modern Family star is active on social media and from her comments to Julie Bowen and co. seems to want to be able to control her own narrative, which was difficult to do in sunny California. She went on to say “fame” is not something she’s ever “really had an interest in,” though she has moved to a place where a few other “industry” people have already relocated. Interestingly, her comments mirror those Matthew McConaughey’s wife Camila Alves made several months ago. In the case of the McConaughey family, they moved from Hollywood to Texas so their kids could have a more “private” way to grow up. 

He’s not the only one to move away from the spotlight, as Jason Segel moved to a “small farm town” to get out of the limelight, similar to what Ariel Winter is saying here. And Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky also left LA so they wouldn’t be in “the eye of the storm” and could recharge in Australia. 

Winter’s been out of California for a few months now, but she’ll still likely spend a considerable amount of time there as acting gigs take her back and forth between the two coasts, as she’s been busy since Modern Family wrapped. In fact, she recently was greenlighted for a brand new TV pilot, Hungry, from Hot In Cleveland creator Suzanne Martin. For now, though, she seems to be settling in for a new life that involves way few paparazzi photos. Given the brouhaha surrounding Ariel Winter’s changing body as an actress on the ABC sitcom, I can’t really blame her. 

Some reality TV moments prove that sometimes you just can’t make this stuff up. The Kardashians gave fans a lot of insight into the lives of the famous family, including how Kim Kardashian hooked up with Pete Davidson and some pretty dramatic reveals about Khloé Kardashian’s breakup with Tristan Thompson. One of the funniest moments and most-talked-about moments from the Hulu series’ first season, however, came when Kendall Jenner struggled to slice a cucumber. Modern Family star Ariel Winter, meanwhile, proved she has no such issues, as evidenced by her recent social media activity.

Ariel Winter showed off the results of her knife skills when she went to town on an extra large zucchini. Her Instagram Stories post, however, did not seem to be in response to Kendall Jenner’s shortcomings. The actress was simply exploring her inner “food pornographer,” as she got excited about the girth of her squash (a phrase I didn’t expect to write today). After palming the large vegetable, she showed off her obscenely large slices of zucchini. Take a look for yourself:

The circles of zucchini are pretty impressive — they're the size of the actress' whole palm! She even included some suggestive poll questions, asking if the guys out there were feeling envious, and if the ladies were as excited as she was. While one could only guess how Kendall Jenner would feel about the size of the vegetable itself, she’d likely be pretty jealous of the perfectly sliced, thick rounds of zucchini sitting in the four-time SAG winner's bowl. 

While Kendall Jenner was apparently “not happy” with the backlash she faced after that episode of The Kardashians aired, per sister Khloé Kardashian, she good-naturedly said via social media that she was ready to give it another go , posting a photo of a cucumber on a cutting board next to a knife. Fans didn’t get full closure on the topic, as the reality star didn’t post an “after” shot but, to be fair, we’re only assuming Ariel Winter cut her own zucchini because there was a knife in the background as well as images of the impressive vegetable pre-slicing:

It’s always possible that she had someone nearby to assist her with her mise en place (assuming Kris Jenner was not present to call in her private chef). Either way, the star of new horror video game The Quarry takes this round of the completely fabricated celebrity knife battle, both for perfectly sliced vegetables and having a quality supplier of beautiful produce. Your move, Kendall!

Here at CinemaBlend, it’s not often we shed light and love on video games that aren’t either being adapted into movie or TV franchises, or are themselves adaptations of movie or TV franchises. But some boundaries are meant to be broken, particularly when it comes to my beloved horror genre, and Supermassive Games has been lightly shattering the mold ever since it unleashed Until Dawn’s thrills and kills back in 2015. The company’s summer camp frightfest The Quarry has arrived, and not only is it a total blast, but it’s as close as you’ll get to actually playing a horror movie, with a star-studded mo-capped voice cast (including Modern Family vet Ariel Winter, Scream’s David Arquette, and Prodigal Son vet Halston Sage.

Supermassive’s horror library — which also includes the current trio of spooky, decision-based games in its Dark Pictures Anthology series — is pretty distinct even within the subgenre of interactive, branching-narrative projects (such as Netflix’s Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and others). While visual novels are a dime a dozen at this point, The Quarry is like the cinematic version of that, with completely control over gameplay elements that even make it worthwhile for gorehounds who don’t fall under the gamer category. But more on that below, as we take a spoiler-free dive into why The Quarry is as good as it gets for horror movie fanatics. 

The Quarry Fully Embraces Its Horror Influences And Plays Into Genre Expectations 

As the spiritual successor to Until Dawn, The Quarry definitely wears its affinity for the entirety of the horror genre on its blood-speckled sleeves, meaning players can expect to see a range of influences on display throughout the story. The game takes place almost entirely at a just-ended summer camp in the non-bustling burg of Hackett’s Quarry, with a group of camp counselors fighting for survival after a night of attempted fun and frolicking turned upside-down thanks to local dangers of all flavors. The setting instantly puts classics like the Friday the 13th franchise and Sleepaway Camp films in mind, even though the similarities don’t necessarily extend much further beyond that.

Admittedly, part of the joy invested in The Quarry is not knowing what you’re in for, so it would be somewhat detrimental to reveal too much here. But suffice to say, writer-director Will Byles and co-writer Alex Farnham are extremely well-versed in horror tropes, traditions, and fan expectations, and they cover a lot of ground without the need to throw the kitchen sink in as well. Honestly, it speaks volumes that the game’s creative team was able to craft a 10-hour+ horror campaign without it either growing tiresome or becoming overly predictable. (Seriously, someone let Byles and Farnham take a crack at a Friday the 13th TV show.) The game may not reinvent the wheel, but who’s complaining about wheels? They fucking rock, and so does The Quarry. Slight pun intended. 

The Main Cast And Dialogue Far Exceed That Of The Average Horror Movie

While many horror projects live or die by the quality of their effects and other aesthetics, a terrible cast delivering terrible lines can ruin anyone’s else’s best efforts. And video games are in no way immune to that concept, which makes The Quarry all the more distinctive, as it boasts a sizable ensemble cast without a single weak link in the bunch. The deep bench of talent only helps to highlight the already smart, funny and engaging script, making the characters’ dialogue and behavior convincingly authentic, even when displaying completely opposite emotions depending on which choices are made. Such authenticity is obviously helped along by the motion-capture techniques used, and outside of sporadic graphic hiccups here and there, the characters often looked as if they were pulled straight from live-action. The core cast of counselors is below: 

• Halston Sage (Prodigal Son, The Orville) as the fun-loving influencer Emma
• Ariel Winter (Modern Family, Sofia the First) as the cautious and loyal Abigail
• Justice Smith (Detective Pikachu, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as the soft-spoken but opinionated Ryan
• Skyler Gisondo (Santa Clarita Diet, The Righteous Gemstones) as the constantly troubled Max
• Siobhan Williams (Sacred Lies, Deadly Class) as Max’s determined and badass girlfriend Laura
• Miles Robbins (Halloween, Daniel Isn’t Real) as the self-deprecating and crush-happy Dylan
• Brenda Song (Ambhibia, Dollface) as the hilarious and logical-minded Kaitlyn
• Zach Tinker (Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless) as the horny buff guy with emotions Jacob
• Evan Evagora (Star Trek: Picard, Fantasy Island) as Abigail’s long-haired crush Nick

Not every character stands equal from a quality or likeability perspective — with Laura, Kaitlyn, and Ryan standing out as my personal favorites — but it’s not due to a lack of effort from the actors themselves. Not to repeat myself, but it’s wild how amazing the script-to-performance combination is next to something like a Resident Evil game, and especially compared to truly baffling shit like Deadly Premonition. Even in moments where The Quarry’s branching-narrative format feels its most choppy when going from scene to scene, it never takes long for the characters to pull you right back into suspended disbelief, which absolutely cannot be said for the majority of horror flicks that come out in a given year. 

The Quarry Boasts Some Legitimate Horror Icons 

Not to dismiss the horror cred earned by any of the stars portraying the counselors, but just about everyone else in The Quarry’s cast is known for starring in at least one iconic horror-tinged movie or TV show, if not multiple. Let’s lay out the rest of the talented ensemble below, though without any character information as not to spoil anything on that front.

• Lance Henriksen (Aliens, Scream 3)
• Ted Raimi (Evil Dead franchise, The Midnight Meat Train)
• Lin Shaye (Insidious franchise, Critters)
• Ethan Suplee (Santa Clarita Diet, The Hunt)
• Grace Zabriskie (Twin Peaks franchise, Child’s Play 2)

To be expected, none of those Hollywood vets fail to deliver the goods performance-wise. At this point in their respective careers, fans have a general idea of what to expect from each of them, and there are no disappointments across the board. In fact, The Quarry allows Ted Raimi to shine as hard as just about any other project in his career. (After his first appearance, be sure to keep an ear out for a reference to his brother Sam Raimi’s classic Evil Dead films.)

Gore? Twists? Awkward Sexiness? Check!

Hollywood has a history of churning out horror flicks with A-list stars that disappoint more than thrill, but thankfully The Quarry’s stacked squad didn’t pull attention away from making sure the storyline and standout sequences embraced everything that makes horror fun. With a general lack of cellphones and other digital devices, the game feels as if it was taken right out of the 1980s, and it plays into that vibe while also subverting certain stereotypes. Especially when it comes to the sex and sexuality side of things, in regards to featuring more than just cis-gender characters, not to mention a bit of standard-shifting self-commentary on horror’s love of half-naked females. 

So while there’s an absence of mo-capped nudity, The Quarry definitely doesn’t skimp on the blood and gore when it counts. One character’s offing in particular literally made me hit pause so I could revel in both the shock of what happened as well as the fabulously gnarly animation depicting the spot where a human’s face once existed. When you consider that everyone who gets introduced in the game could theoretically be killed off in one brutal fashion or another — the story’s twists and turns hint at who is and isn’t worthy of saving — that means more than a dozen potential examples of some of the most gruesome kills in narrative-based gaming. And there’s even a special feature that speaks directly to those whose bloodlust can’t be sated, as noted below.

The Quarry Has A Completely Hands-Off Feature For Non-Gamers

When I was a kid, I distinctly remember setting up Coach Mode in NES’ Tecmo Bowl to mirror whatever applicable NFL games were set for that week, and just watching the computer play itself. It’s weird to think that Supermassive Games’ latest effort represents the current evolution of that tactic, but that’s definitely the case. As a game that already isn’t overwhelmingly interactive in the first place, with only sporadic exploration accompanying the plethora of dialogue and behavior choices, The Quarry knows that might still be too intense for certain people who just want to check out the game for its story merits. 

As such, there’s a Movie Mode option that allows for a completely hands-off experience, though players do have the option of choosing preset personality traits for each of the playable characters, as a way of keeping things from being completely random. If even that is too random for those who wish to factor in predetermined fates, there’s an option where all the characters survive, and an option where they all bite the bullet by the end. And yes, there’s even an additional option for the deaths to be the goriest and most grisly versions. It’s the dream!

Beyond everything already discussed, The Quarry also boasts the Horror History Visual Filter Pack add-on, which allows players to play the game with three different aesthetics: the highly saturated colors of Indie Horror, the grainy washed-out VHS look of ‘80s Horror, or completely color-free gameplay with the Black-and-White Classic Horror filter.

Had this been a straightforward video game review, I might have felt the need to talk about some of the game’s wonkier moments involving dialogue hiccups and erratic facial animation. But even then, I wouldn’t be faulting it for too much, since those moments were thankfully minimal among the wider variety of thrills, shocks and A+ performances. All in all, though The Quarry may not be the most perfect release specifically for hardcore gamers, I believe it’s an ideal experience for anyone and everyone who adores horror movies, and double for those who think they should be roughly 700% longer and include some light button-mashing.

2K Games' The Quarry will be available on Friday, June 10, through most major platforms, including Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Steam/other PC options.

Modern Family wrapped up its wildly popular and awards-filled run in 2020, after eleven seasons, and various stars from its ensemble cast have already made high-profile returns to TV, while others like her on-screen sister Sarah Hyland are putting such returns together as we speak. Ariel Winter, who portrayed the brainiest and most logical member of the show's extended bloodline, is now a member of the latter group, as she was recast for a lead role in the new network TV series Hungry that was initially fronted by singer Demi Lovato.

Hungry, developed by Hot in Cleveland creator and Will & Grace scribe Suzanne Martin, will star Ariel Winter as part of a set of friends belonging to a food-issues group. With part of its focus presumably on eating disorders and other calorically related problems, the project will also put its attention on how friends can lift each other up in times of need during the struggles to find love, success and all things tasty. It should be a nice change of pace for Winter to be part of a cast of similarly aged co-stars, as opposed to one with four generations of actors. 

This won’t be Winter’s very first scripted role in general after her decade-plus as one of the Dunphys, though, as she has several features on the way. She’s set for the party dramedy Pools, the Zoom-based thriller Don’t Log Off, and the upcoming crime drama Crimelands. As well, she brought her Sofia the First vocal skills to work for an episode of the spooky podcast R.L. Stine’s Story Club in 2021. Hungry, however, will be her first potential TV return after Modern Family.

For a bit of background, Demi Lovato was already on board as a star and executive producer when Hungry was picked up for a pilot order at NBC in April 2021. The topical comedy faced a major hurdle as March 2022 began, however, when Lovato pulled out of the show as its lead, citing scheduling conflicts as the cause. That said, they will be staying on board as an executive producer, along with their manager Scooter Braun.

That setback clearly wasn’t a long-term situation, thankfully, and Deadline reports NBC execs were all-in on rapidly finding someone else to fill the role, as they were eager to stick to the plans for the impending pilot’s filming. Ariel Winter is a solid choice, considering the actress has continued building up her fandom in the post-Modern Family years. More on the topic of Hungry, Winter has also opened up about the body-shaming that she dealt with from viewers during the difficult journey of growing up on the comedy series, as well as similar criticisms she’s heard after losing weight.

Ariel Winter is the latest Modern Family to land a starring TV role, with the news coming soon after the reveal that Sarah Hyland landed a role in Peacock’s upcoming Pitch Perfect spinoff series starring Adam Levine and Flula Borg. Their on-screen mom Julie Bowen, meanwhile, put forth some winning appearances in American Dad and Curb Your Enthusiasm already in 2022, and is set to lead the in-development comedy Wilde Things, also at NBC. 

The Hungry pilot —  also starring Valerie Bertinelli, Gabriel Iglesias, Alex Brightman, Ryan McPartlin and Ashley D. Kelley — is set to move forward with a table read on Tuesday, March 8, with the legendary James Burrows on board as director. We adore some Dunphy sister love! Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland starred as Alex and Haley Dunphy, respectively, on the ABC sitcom Modern Family, which ended in 2020 after 11 seasons. Sisters are sisters for life, even if it’s just on-screen, as the two girls really did grow up with each other. After 11 years acting together, it’s not likely that sibling feeling will ever really go away, and Hyland recently made sure to give a shout-out to her little sis, who was celebrating her 24th birthday. 

Sarah Hyland took to Instagram to let Ariel Winter know she was thinking about her on her birthday, saying she missed her TV sister while sharing a beautiful photo of the two actresses together.

Isn't it just like an older sister to show her age by not quite understanding how the kids are talking these days? Ariel Winter responded to Sarah Hyland’s birthday well-wishes with an acknowledgement that Hyland had correctly used the phrase “We love to see it.” Go, Sarah!

There’s clearly still a lot of love between the older Dunphy siblings, even if Sarah Hyland did "forget" to invite Ariel Winter to the mini-reunion the Modern Family cast had last summer. Oops! Hyland can always be counted on for the birthday love, though, as she shared a similarly adorable post on her co-star’s 23rd birthday.

Ariel Winter isn’t the only former co-star popping up in Sarah Hyland’s Modern Family-related posts lately. The actress also recently posted some IG photos with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who played her uncle Mitchell on the sitcom, and his husband Justin Mikita. 

Since the end of Modern Family, Sarah Hyland has had her name attached to a few projects, including the ill-fated fairy tale anthology Epic, which ABC scrapped. She hosted the family competition special Play-Doh: Squished and is set to star opposite Keiynan Lonsdale and Dylan Sprouse in the movie My Fake Boyfriend. Hyland is also reportedly set to headline and produce an ABC comedy series from Oscar-nominated screenwriter Emily V. Gordon (The Big Sick) and This Is Us co-showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, but information regarding that project has been scarce.

Through the COVID pandemic, Sarah Hyland has been focusing on staying healthy, as the actress was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia at a young age and has undergone two kidney transplants since 2012. She and fiancé Wells Adams are hoping to tie the knot this year, after the pandemic forced them to postpone their wedding two different times. And you can bet fans will be seeing some familiar Modern Family faces when that ceremony finally happens. 

Ariel Winter, for her part, has continued voice-acting in recent years, including the title character in Sofia the First and Marina the Mermaid in Captain Jake the Never Land Pirates, but she’s set to appear on the big screen in 2022, starring in the thriller Don’t Log Off, as well as the indie film Pools with Mason Gooding of Scream.

The esteemed actors of the Criminal Minds cast not only had the honor of starring on one of the longest-running and most beloved crime procedurals on TV, but also had the pleasure of sharing the screen with many guest stars who would go on to become some of the biggest stars of today. Considering how it ran for a whopping total of 15 seasons on CBS, you can only imagine how many future Hollywood heavies appeared on the series. The following are some of the most recognizable names we dug up after their roles on Criminal Minds completely slipped our minds, starting with one actor who just a few years away from becoming TV royalty.

Aaron Paul (Michael Zizzo) 

In the premiere season of Criminal Minds (when Mandy Patinkin was still on the show), a 27-year-old Aaron Paul played a young man suspected of murder due to his involvement with a local group of Satanists who were framed by the high school student who turned out to be the real killer. In 2008, the actor played crystal meth dealer and manufacturer Jesse Pinkman on AMC’s Breaking Bad, for which he earned three Emmy Awards and a newfound reputation as a leading man on both the small screen and the big screen. 

Dean Norris (Det. John Barton) 

Speaking of Breaking Bad cast members, Dean Norris is still known best to this day for his role as Hank Schrader - devoted DEA agent and unsuspecting brother-in-law of notorious drug lord Walter White (Bryan Cranston) - on the acclaimed drama. He had actually already been cast on the show when he was temporarily demoted to police detective for a 2010 episode of Criminal Minds, on which his character helps the crew locate the last victim of a serial killer with clues he strangely left after taking his own life.

Walton Goggins (John Cooley)

Speaking of strange criminals, Walton Goggins received his sole Emmy nomination (so far) for playing Boyd Crowder on FX’s Justified, which would lead to an increasingly esteemed film career that includes a villainous role in the Marvel movies (namely 2018 Ant-Man and the Wasp) and becoming a frequent player in Quentin Tarantino’s recent filmography. In between his stint on The Shield and joining the Justified cast, the actor played a longtime friend of Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) who almost falls prey to a murderous priest (Carmen Argenziano) in a creepy Criminal Minds episode from Season 4.

Sterling K. Brown (Fitz) 

Sterling K. Brown also became a Marvel movie star in 2018 after appearing in Black Panther, following his Emmy-winning turns on both FX’s American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson as Christopher Darden and NBC’s This Is Us cast as Randall Pearson. Before all of that, in 2015, the St. Louis native appeared as a security guard for the United States embassy in Barbados in a Season 10 episode of Criminal Minds that served as back door pilot for the series’ short-lived spin-off Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

Mike Colter (Colin Bramwell)

Mike Colter would become a Marvel TV show star in 2015 after appearing on Netflix’s Jessica Jones as the indestructible Luke Cage before getting his own self-title spin-off and, then, reprising the role on the streaming platform’s crossover series, The Defenders. Before that short-lived, but much-loved, phenomenon blew up his career, the Evil cast member played a former Special Forces sniper turned serial killer hired by his former colleague to kill his ex-wife on Season 9 of Criminal Minds.

Evan Peters (Charlie Hillridge) 

Someone who is also known for both Marvel movies (he was Quicksilver in the X-Men movies) and Marvel TV shows (he sort of reprised the Quicksilver role when he joined the WandaVision cast) is Evan Peters, who would initially acquire household name status as a series regular on American Horror Story since 2011. About a year before that creepy anthology premiered, the actor guest starred on Criminal Minds’ sixth season as a young man who was abducted as an 8-year-old by married murderers who would later make him their reluctant accomplice.

Finn Wittrock (Harvey Morell) 

On the other side of that coin, Harvey Morell was the willful accomplice to a killer named Caleb Rossmore (Jeff Newburg), with whom he shared an obsession with the Zodiac Killer, on a Season 7 episode of Criminal Minds. Playing that young killer was fellow recurring American Horror Story cast member Finn Wittrock, who will also add superhero TV shows to his resume when he plays Guy Gardner - a member of the Green Lantern Corps - on HBO Max’s upcoming original series based on the cosmic DC comic book.

David Mazouz (Ryan Hall) 

Speaking of DC TV shows, in 2014, David Mazouz had the honor of joining the Gotham cast as a young Bruce Wayne dealing with the recent murder of his parents for five seasons. Years before the Batman prequel series premiered, the actor also appeared on a Season 7 of Criminal Minds as a boy whose battle with leukemia sends his boxing champ father (Shawn Hatosy) into a murderous rage.

Cameron Monaghan (Jeffrey Charles) 

David Mazouz’s Gotham co-star Cameron Monaghan (who plays a particularly clownish criminal named Jerome Valeska) is also famous for playing Ian Gallagher on the Shameless cast for 11 seasons. You could say that he had some decent preparation for the former, more villainous (and Joker-esque) role when he landed a guest spot on Criminal Minds’ sophomore run as a young boy abandoned by his mother who takes his anger out on three people by bludgeoning them to death.

Elle Fanning (Tracy Belle) 

Cameron Monaghan’s Jeffrey Charles almost claimed a fourth victim - a little girl named Tracy Belle, whom he lures out into the woods before Mandy Patinkin’s Jason Gideon saves her at, essentially, the last minute. Tracy Belle was played on Criminal Minds by Elle Fanning, who - like her older sister, Dakota - would grow up to become one of the most sought after actresses of her generation, known for movies like Super 8 from 2011 and for leading Hulu’s The Great cast as Catherine the Great.

Jessie T. Usher (Daniel)

If we could switch gears for just a moment back to stars of superhero TV shows, Jessie T. Usher is known today as Samuel L. Jackson’s son in Tim Story’s 2019 Shaft movie and Will Smith’s son in the 2016 sequel Independence Day: Resurgence, but especially from Amazon Prime’s The Boys cast as A-Train. Before he had a starring role in anything, he had a guest spot on Criminal Minds’ two-part Season 4 finale in which the BAU investigates a series of murder that leads to make a shocking discovery at a pig farm in Canada.

Ariel Winter (Katie)

Although best known as Alex Dunphy on the Modern Family cast, Ariel Winter also has experience playing a superhero, having voiced a later incarnation of Robin named Carrie Kelley in one of the best DC animated movies, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, in 2012 and 2013. Years before the ABC sitcom made her a star, Winter was on Criminal Minds Season 3 as a young girl abducted and left for dead by her own aunt (Suzanne Cryer) who blamed her niece for ruining her marriage to her pedophile husband (Emmanuel Xuereb).

Melissa Leo (Georgia Davis)

Academy Award winner Melissa Leo (for the 2011 sports biopic The Fighter) would actually make her superhero movies debut in 2021 with the Netflix original action comedy Thunder Force. In Criminal Minds two-part Season 2 finale, the actress played a small town sheriff whose abduction leads to the BAU’s first encounter with prolific serial killer Frank Breitkopft, played by Keith Carradine.

Julia Butters (Gabby) 

Another notable abduction victim from Criminal Minds is the title character of “Gabby,” the 16th episode of the series’ ninth season, which was also the acting debut of then-5-year-old Julia Butters. The starlet would then land a recurring spot on the Transparent cast, a starring role on CBS’s American Housewife, and a memorable, scene-stealing role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as Rick Dalton’s precocious Lancer co-star. 

Sydney Sweeney (Dani Forester)

Fellow Once Upon a Time in Hollywood cast member Sydney Sweeney also made one of her earliest appearances on Criminal Minds as a young girl murdered along with her brother and mother by a serial killer who specializes in taking out whole families in Season 5. She would later achieve acclaim after joining the Handmaid’s Tale cast as Eden Spencer, the White Lotus cast as Olivia Mossbacher, and on HBO’s Euphoria cast as Cassie Howard, to name just a few notable roles. 

Anton Yelchin (Nathan Harris)

In lieu of the many notable roles that prove Anton Yelchin as one of the most exceptional talents of his time (Green Room, Charlie Bartlett, J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movies, etc.), he gave one criminally underrated performance on Criminal Minds’ second season as a teen with sexually sadistic tendencies. Sadly, Yelchin passed away in 2016 at the age of 27 when his Jeep Cherokee, which appeared to be in park but was really in neutral, rolled backward and pinned him against the security fence outside his Los Angeles home.

People who work in law enforcement likely rarely forget the faces of anyone they investigate, swore to protect, or failed to save. However, if you are guilty of forgetting any of these Criminal Minds characters and the now famous actors who played them,  you are forgiven.

Over the course of 11 years, viewers witnessed Modern Family's child stars go from school-aged kids to young adults. When it specifically comes to Ariel Winter’s Alex Dunphy, she transformed from a precocious know-it-all to an intelligent career woman. While many fans loved and adored Alex, Winter didn’t always receive that love in real life. Recently, the actress and mental health advocate opened up about being fat-shamed on social media by some of the show’s fans.

Like any young woman, Ariel Winter experienced puberty in her preteen years though, unlike most others, her physical development occurred in front of an ocean of TV watchers. In some ways, fans saw her body change overnight. While a number of people showed support for her during that time, others weren’t afraid to express their disapproval. Winter revealed on Red Table Talk: The Estefans the online and media vitriol she received at an early age:

Going through puberty is already tough for most teenagers, but having to experience adolescence in the spotlight is a whole other thing. Unfortunately, this is something that many child stars are forced to go through. Later in the interview, the actress mentioned other issues she was experiencing in conjunction with cyberbullying. Winter also discussed how social media comments led her to constantly shift her appearance:

Ariel Winter has been incredibly candid about her experiences with body image over the years. It’s very disheartening to hear her recall the dark times she experienced while being on one of television’s top sitcoms. She's previously spoken out about the public's fascination with her weight. In one case, Winter explained that she got numerous questions from commentators regarding a possible correlation between her weight loss and her use of antidepressants.

Despite years of cyberbullying, the actress seems to have pushed that aside and is continuing with her work and even embracing the world of TikTok. She appears to be enjoying a new era of her life, and one can only wish her the best as she continues to move forward.

Celebs have been increasingly joining TikTok over the past year+, with some big names like Cameron Diaz (and her wine) and even Dame Judi Dench getting into the fun. The cool thing about TikTok content is that it’s often different than what celebs are sharing elsewhere, and that’s true for the platform’s recent addition Ariel Winter as well. The former Modern Family star's social media has been a bit all over the board the past few years. Her Instagram used to have a very heavy workout focus, especially in 2019 after she noticeably lost weight while filming Modern Family. In the time since, she's moved pretty heavily into fashion, dropping a bunch of really fun pictures with cool clothing. Exactly where she'll end up on TikTok is anyone's guess.

She's only dropped six posts so far, and half of them are dog-related, although one of those is a post about how Instagram is feeding her a steady stream of dog and pizza content. There's also a pretty delightful video of her golfing, which you can check out below. Full disclosure, her swing leaves a little to be desired.

Of course even though Ariel Winter has only been on TikTok for a few weeks, that doesn't mean other people haven't been adding videos of her for years. Many of her workout videos that she originally posted elsewhere on social have been reposted and gained steam on TikTok, specifically the ones where she's working out her glutes. 

No word yet on whether we'll get any motivating gym posts like the one above from her official TikTok now that she's on the service, but regardless, I think we can definitely expect to see exciting fashion, as well as fun and honest glimpses into her personal life. In fact, in just the two short weeks she's been on the service, in addition to those dog pics, we've gotten a fun romper and some complaints about people crop dusting her squad.

That's the great thing about her though. She's raw. She's willing to be herself, and she seems like a whole lot of fun. I've already started following her, and I'd encourage you to do the same thing.

No superhero in the history of comic book fiction has made the position of “sidekick” a more honorable distinction than Robin, who has remained a constant of the BatFamily no matter who is behind the mask. The average consumer of superhero movies may only recognize the Boy Wonder as Dick Grayson - a young orphan whom Bruce Wayne would take in and train to become his first costumed ally - mainly because the DC movies often tend to favor him over subsequent iterations. However, the man who would be Nightwing is not the only name you will see on the following list of our favorite versions of Robin featured in Batman movies and TV shows, starting with one who would become many audiences' first Robin. 

Burt Ward As Dick Grayson On Batman

Holy obvious choice, Batman! The definitive depiction of the Caped Crusader has changed dramatically since the late Adam West played him on the campy, classic series Batman, but many aspects of Burt Ward’s performance as Bruce Wayne’s young ward remain standard to the character to this day. From his sharp perception, impeccable fighting skills, and loyalty to his parter in crimefighting, the ‘60s-era Robin is everything that a superhero would want in a sidekick.

Loren Lester As Dick Grayson On Batman: The Animated Series 

The iteration of Dick Grayson first introduced in 1992 on Batman: The Animated Series (and played by veteran voice actor Loren Lester) is, essentially, the embodiment of everything that made Burt Ward’s portrayal great, but with a deeper darkness and sharper wit that was missing. By the time the Emmy-winning animated DC TV show was rebranded as The New Batman Adventures, Dick would hang up the Robin mantle to become Nightwing, allowing another ambitious, young vigilante to take his spot.

Matthew Valencia As Tim Drake On The New Batman Adventures

DC Comics’ second Robin was Jason Todd, whose tragic storyline was darker than what Bruce Timm and co. could explore on The New Batman Adventures, leading to Matthew Valencia’s casting as Tim Drake. Yet another orphan taken in by Bruce Wayne (voiced by Kevin Conroy), what memorably sets Drake apart from Dick Grayson in the Timmverse is his more rebellious approach to fighting crime under the discipline of Batman, who originally had no intention of training the boy. He also sports a more charmingly boyish quality than Grayson did… in this continuity, at first.

Scott Menville As Dick Grayson On Teen Titans

While his true name is never spoken on the early-to-mid-2000s animated series, it is largely suggested that Robin in Teen Titans is Dick Grayson, but a thorough reinvention of the character nonetheless. In fact, the leader of the titular crew of young heroes voiced by Scott Menville (who would also reprise the character in Teen Titans Go! and Teen Titans Go! to the Movies) almost bears a stronger resemblance to another Robin: Bruce Wayne’s son Damian Wayne, with his one-man army resilience and more stubborn and brooding personality. It is also a stark contrast from his next animated, small-screen iteration. 

Jesse McCartney As Dick Grayson On Young Justice

Essentially a reboot of Teen Titans (or, at least, a far more earnest one than Teen Titans Go!), Young Justice - which is now an HBO Max exclusive - once again follows a team of younger DC characters led by Dick Grayson (this time voiced by actor and pop star Jesse McCartney). At first, the former sidekick to Batman boasts a slightly more relaxed and child-like disposition when not in serious hero mode, which would become more of his default when he drops the Robin mantle to become Nightwing. I actually tend to prefer Grayson as his post-Robin persona, which is why the Season 2 finale of Titans was so satisfying.

Essentially a live-action reboot of Teen Titans (or Young Justice, more so), Titans - which also streams exclusively on HBO Max now - once again follows a team of younger DC characters led by Dick Grayson (this time played by Australian actor Brenton Thwaites). This series actually caused an uproar before it even premiered with Robin confirming he no longer works with the Dark Knight by replying to a group of criminals’ question about his whereabouts with “Fuck Batman” in the trailer, signaling that this show would be fully embracing the Boy Wonder’s dark side. That darkness comes through even better when Grayson become Nightwing (the first official live-action depiction of the moniker), which is why I can understand how some might prefer a lighter take on Robin.

Michael Cera As Dick Grayson In The LEGO Batman Movie 

Well, you will certainly not find a lighter take on Robin than in one of the lightest takes on Batman lore ever produced (but in the most appropriate and passionately executed fashion). Michael Cera of Superbad and the Arrested Development cast voices a young Dick Grayson, opposite Will Arnett’s Bruce Wayne, in 2017’s The LEGO Batman Movie, which brilliantly pokes fun at their infamously rocky relationship. Cera’s Robin is a relentless ball of energy whose loyalty to Batman as a crimefighter is fueled by his longing to be accepted as his son, too.

It was not until Frank Miller’s groundbreaking reinvention of the Caped Crusader in his 1986 graphic novel Batman: The Dark Knight Returns that a father-daughter (or even grandfather-granddaughter) dynamic was applied to Batman’s relationship with Robin with the introduction of Carrie Kelley. Longing to escape her meager existence, the poor, young Gothamite dons a store-bought Robin costume and joins an aging Bruce Wayne in his most dire and controversial war against crime yet. An animated adaptation of the story was released in two-parts in 2012 and 2013 with Ariel Winter of the Modern Family cast voicing the role so well, you may wish she had her own spin-off.

Chris O’Donnell As Dick Grayson In Batman Forever

I will be honest: I was initially hesitant to include Chris O’Donnell’s portrayal of the Boy Wonder in 1995’s Batman Forever, particularly because the actor was obviously not a boy when it came out. However, the Joel Schumacher-directed sequel    deserves points for an otherwise accurate depiction of Robin’s core motivation (the death of his family) and his and Batman’s conflicting personalities. Hell, even 1997’s Batman & Robin sheds light on Dick Grayson’s struggle to fully earn Bruce Wayne’s trust as an equal pretty well.

Working in TV can be an odd thing. Actors and crews go into work day in and day out and see each other -- often for years -- and then one day it’s just all over. There are hugs and goodbyes and then everyone moves on to another project. You can always tell when casts really liked one another because they’ll hang out after a series ends, which is what happened recently when Sarah Hyland, Sofia Vergara and Jesse Tyler Ferguson all reunited for a fun day out. Only they forgot to invite Ariel Winter.

This week, Sarah Hyland took to Instagram to share the look at the picnic event, which featured pups, little ones and several of her former Modern Family co-stars. Everyone looked as if they had a blast in the great outdoors -- even without the full gang being there.

However, the eldest Dunphy sibling may have made a little bit of a social media faux pas, as it seems she forgot to invite her younger TV siblings to the mini-reunion and didn't even try to keep it a secret afterward, even posting about the gathering on the internet! This led Sarah Hyland’s former co-star Ariel Winter to humorously call her big TV sib out with a playful comment, noting (edited for capitalization):

To be fair, the banter on Winter's end was clearly playful here. In the past Sarah Hyland has been great about sharing throwback moments and keeping up with a lot more people from the Modern Family cast, including Nolan Gould and Ariel Winter. It was just a few months ago, in April of this year, that Hyland herself even sent a birthday shoutout to her “little sister,” so they seem to at least be keeping in touch.

As the show was ending, Sarah Hyland also paid tribute to what it meant to be a Dunphy with a very sweet post that also featured pictures of herself alongside Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould.

Modern Family wrapped its run after 11 seasons on ABC back in 2020. At the time, some of the cast didn’t seem to be too happy about the network’s decision to end the series, but there was still a wrap party infused with a lot of emotion (and Green Day to boot). The final episode of Modern Family aired on April 8, 2020 at kind of a weird time, as the world was shut down and more people were spending time on screens than ever.

In the time since, the cast have moved on to other projects, with Sarah Hyland recently making headlines for herself and partner Wells Adams’ alleged Bachelor in Paradise stint as well as having another TV show in the works at ABC called Epic. Ariel Winter has movies Pools and Don't Log Off in the works as well. We'll have to wait and see where everyone from the original cast lands longterm, but it's certainly a new era for everyone involved in the show. The good news? I'm guessing there will be more reunions in the future. Perhaps next time Ariel Winter's "invite" won't get lost in the mail.

With Modern Family over, Hollywood has the opportunity to grab some talents who have largely been off-the-market for live-action stuff for a decade during the show's run. The result of this is that some of the ABC comedy's stars have quickly found follow-up projects to get involved in, with Ariel Winter surprisingly already having wrapped her first project since the series finale.

The news came from the actress herself on her personal Instagram. There, Ariel Winter expressed congratulations and thanks to the entire cast and crew involved on the upcoming movie, which just so happens to be Don't Log Off, a comedy-thriller that is sure to entertain some audiences as more projects that were able to continue during COVID-19 spring up.

As some may have guessed, Don't Log Off is another Hollywood indie that takes advantage of the unique circumstances in which people have increasingly interacted over video conferencing apps. Set in the early days of the COVID-19 quarantine, the plot involves six friends planning a virtual surprise party when the birthday girl goes missing. The upcoming movie is directed by brothers Brandon and Garrett Baer and, of course, features Ariel Winter.

Though the premise is centered on video conferencing, Don't Log Off is described as a hybrid production. Scenes for the movie were shot both on location and through virtual video conferencing. It may sound like a gimmicky premise for a movie, but to its credit, it's a chance to see Ariel Winter in a post-Modern Family scripted role sooner than most Hollywood productions may have allowed. It's the start of a new era for the actress, and given Modern Family fans essentially saw her grow up before their very eyes, there will be some watching to see how the next phase of her career turns out.

Following the end of Modern Family’s 11-season run, series star Ariel Winter no longer needs to maintain her hairstyle and hair color to portray middle child Alex Dunphy. As such, Winter radically altered her hair with immediacy, dying it red and getting it cut in layers in early March. More recently, Winter has opted for another dramatic look by going fully blonde, and adding a fun Game of Thrones reference just in case anyone wasn’t aware of who her hair inspiration was.

With Modern Family having wrapped filming and all the shutdowns preventing actors from working per usual, Ariel Winter has taken to experimenting with hair colors, which honestly isn't a bad way to spend some downtime. Winter posted her new look to Instagram. This time around, Winter went in the opposite direction of the fiery red locks she was sporting a few months ago. Call the dragons! Westeros has a new queen. It sounds like the caption “Winter is coming” is both a nod to the show and to the actress actress, whose last name is obviously Winter. I love a good double entendre, which clearly wouldn't have worked had her Modern Family costar Ty Burrell tried it. (Though just picture him with that hair.) Between the red and the blonde, I guess you could say Ariel Winter may also be going for the full fire and ice references from Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin’s books.

Accompanying the first photo are several different takes showcasing Ariel Winter’s new look. The boldness of the hair color and the shorter cut is admirable. The Modern Family alum really seems to like it, too, which is not surprising since it’s admittedly a very good look for her.

She isn’t the only Modern Family actress to change up her well-known sitcom look for something a bit more daring. Sarah Hyland, who played Winter’s onscreen sister Haley Dunphy, recently said so long to her darker locks and opted for a shade of red (or pink, depending on how you see it) instead. Hyland was especially proud of the look because she dyed it herself. That’s pretty daring, considering I would personally never go near my own hair in such a way without a professional.

Ariel Winter was very young when she was cast as Alex in Modern Family, and has been fairly open about the challenges of growing up in the public eye and the particularly intense scrutiny she’s faced with regards to her weight and appearance. Winter has admitted that the comments about her body still bother her, but that she’d learned how to handle it over the years.

Modern Family’s Ariel Winter may be pretty good at acting, but don’t ask her to cook food for you. Speaking recently in an interview about the end of the long-running ABC comedy, Winter shared the gruesome injury that happened to her thumb, which had to be bandaged up after an incident with an errant tomato.

Hearing someone talking about chopping the end of their finger off is never pleasant. So, if you’re kinda like me and don’t need the nitty gritty details of what Ariel Winter was doing when she literally took off a piece of her thumb, just know the injury happened and there’s a baggie with a fingertip involved and bail the heck outta this article.

Meanwhile, if you love gross stories, Ariel Winter revealed to Access Hollywood exactly what she was doing when she sliced off the end of her finger.

Hey, we all have different skill sets and clearly talking while trying to cut up produce is not what Ariel Winter should stick to. Or at least cooking while multitasking takes a little practice. Anyway, this isn’t the end to the gruesome injury story.

Ariel Winter also revealed in her narrative that her boyfriend had to take her to the hospital because the bleeding got really bad. Oh, and did I mention she’s not kidding when she said she “sliced” off part of her finger. She also said:

I once cut my hand when I was slicing fruit as a bartender and there was so much blood, so it doesn’t particularly surprise me she went to the hospital given she seems to have been bleeding a lot and also lost enough of her finger that her boyfriend bagged it. Which I guess is really thoughtful, but also how does a person even think to do that?

Anyway, the actress did a video interview with the outlet to discuss the end of Modern Family, which just hit ABC back in April. Unlike some other shows that were expecting to end this season, including Supernatural and Empire, Modern Family was able to wrap filming early enough to work the finale in.

But who cares about the end of a long-running show when you have a bandaged actress right in front of you willing to talk about her injury in minute detail? She could have told me Modern Family was already getting revived (she didn’t) and I would have totally missed it because she’d just talked about pools of blood and slicing fingers. Good thing I already ate this morning…

Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy)

Playing Phil Dunphy, the patriarch of the Dunphy family, Ty Burrell found his most well-recognized role in Modern Family. The actor rose to prominence through a Broadway run of Macbeth and several off-broadway plays, as well as roles in Black Hawk Down and the Dawn of the Dead remake, but this series is what helped Burrell turn into a household name. Since appearing in Modern Family, Burrell also booked roles in Finding Dory, Storks, Muppets Most Wanted, Rough Night, and a title role in Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Now that his two-time Emmy-winning role in Modern Family is over, Burrell has booked his next role. He provides his voice to the new animated series, Duncanville, where he serves as a regular player.

Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy)

An established film and TV actress before she joined the cast of Modern Family, Julie Bowen was known for starring in Happy Gilmore, Lost, Dawson's Creek, Boston Legal, and Ed, to name a few titles, before she joined the popular sitcom, but it became her most famous role to date. As the matriarch Claire Dunphy, Bowen won two Emmy awards for her performance in the series. Now that the show has concluded, Bowen has a couple titled lined up next. The first is Hubie Halloween, the newest Adam Sandler Netflix comedy, which is set to come out later this year. Bowen is also attached to Raised By Wolves, the new CBS multi-camera comedy series from the creators of Will & Grace. Though there might've been speculation that she'd quit acting after Modern Family's series finale, that's evidently not the case.

Sofia Vergara (Gloria Delgado-Pritchett)

As Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, the significantly younger wife to Jay Pritchett, Sofia Vergara's profile skyrocketed thanks to the success of Modern Family. The Colombian-American actress became one of the highest paid actresses on television for several years through her Emmy-nominated performance. The former Univision co-host found herself in The Smurfs, New Year's Eve, Machete Kills, The Three Stooges, Chef, Hot Pursuit, Happy Feet Two, The Emoji Movie, and more following the show's success, and she'll continue to be a friendly face on television. Now that Modern Family has aired its final episode, Vergara has lined up her next TV gig. She'll join America's Got Talent as a judge during its 15th season. She has also done endorsements for several companies since she found international fame through Modern Family.

Ed O'Neill (Jay Pritchett)

Previously best known for playing Al Bundy in Married... With Children, O'Neill was already a comedy titan when he starred in Modern Family, though the series gave his television career a great second wave. Having also appeared in the Wayne's World movies and Little Giants, O'Neill got a plush role in this hit series and it renewed his career enormously. Since the award-winning series premiered, O'Neill has also done voice work for Wreck-It Ralph, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and Finding Dory. As Modern Family came to a close after eleven seasons, O'Neill hasn't lined up any new acting gigs, though he's soon set to be seen in the indie comedy, The Last Shift, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. As for the next project, he admitted on Ellen that he's "going along" and figuring it out in due time.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell Pritchett)

Playing Mitchell Pritchett, the husband of Cameron Tucker and Lily's father, Jesse Tyler Ferguson found himself in a major television hit with this role. The performance was nominated for five Emmy awards and it certainly helped his profile, though he was previously well-known for his standout work in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which became a huge Broadway sensation. Recently, Ferguson found himself on Broadway again in the 2016 production of Fully Committed. He also lent his voice to the audiobook, A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo, from 2018, and he appeared in Taylor Swift's 2019 music video for "You Need To Calm Down." He also voiced a character in Ice Age: Collision Course, and he appeared on Project Runway and Drop the Mic. Now that Modern Family has concluded, Ferguson will be the new host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Eric Stonestreet (Cameron Tucker)

Eric Stonestreet was a hard-working actor who finally found his big break with Modern Family. Playing Cameron Tucker, Mitchell Pritchett's husband and Lily's other father, Stonestreet won two Emmys and gained wide acclaim for his beloved performance. Since Modern Family, Stonestreet has also been seen or heard in American Horror Story, Monk, Identity Thief, Bad Teacher, The Loft, You're Not A Monster, and The Secret Life of Pets 1 & 2. Now that Modern Family is finished, Stonestreet doesn't currently have any upcoming acting roles formally announced, though he's taking Heidi Klum's place on America's Got Talent's fifteenth season as a guest judge. He was also recently seen on the revival of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire.

Sarah Hyland (Haley Dunphy)

As Haley Dunphy, the eldest Dunphy daughter, Sarah Hyland found her claim to fame with Modern Family. The young actress, who had previously appeared in minor roles in Private Parts and Annie, found herself in this acclaimed ensemble and it opened a few new doors. Since the show began, Hyland has been seen in Geek Charming, Scary Movie 5, Struck By Lightning, Vampire Academy, XOXO, and the Dirty Dancing remake — to name a few projects. Now that Modern Family has come to a close, Hyland is looking to pursue her next project. Specifically, Hyland is attached to headline and produce a forthcoming ABC comedy series from Oscar-nominated screenwriter Emily V. Gordon (The Big Sick) and This Is Us co-showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Not much is known about the untitled series at this time. Hyland also recently did a single with Jordan McGraw.

Ariel Winter (Alex Dunphy)

Playing the part of Alex Dunphy, the middle child of the fame, Ariel Winter grew in prominence and fame through her work on the popular ABC series. Thanks to Modern Family, Winter has elevated her career in a number of ways, though she primarily works as a voice actress nowadays. She has lent her voice to the lead role in Sofia the First, as well as Final Fantasy games, Phineas And Ferb, Smurfs: The Lost Village, Mr. Peabody & Sherman (also starring Ty Burrell), Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and ParaNorman, to name a few projects. She'll next be heard in the lead role of Little Audrey.

Rico Rodriguez (Manny Delgado)

In his calling card role, former child actor Rico Rodriguez became a household name when he played Manny Delgado, Gloria's sweet-natured son from another marriage, in Modern Family. Though he appeared in Cory in the House, Nip/Tuck, My Name is Earl, iCarly, Epic Movie, and NCIS in minor roles before his time in the popular ABC sitcom, his scene-stealing character made him an adorable favorite on the series, helping the actor find parts in The Muppets, Austin & Ally, and Good Luck Charlie, among other roles. Also, in 2012, the young actor published his memoir, Reel Life Lessons... So Far, which he authored alongside Laura Morton. With the series concluded, Rodriguez currently doesn't have any other roles announced presently, but the actor did recently appear in an episode of Nickelodeon's reality TV program, The Substitute.

Nolan Gould (Luke Dunphy)

In the role of Luke Dunphy, the youngest Dunphy sibling, Nolan Gould was a consistent presence throughout Modern Family. Though he hasn't found the same notoriety as his co-stars, Gould has found several new acting projects since appearing on this popular series. The same year Modern Family hit television, Gould was seen in Space Buddies, and he has been seen in Friends with Benefits, The To Do List, Good Luck Charlie, and more since then. He also made an appearance as himself in a 2014 episode of Whose Line Is It Anyway? Next, Gould has a role in Yes and he'll appear in What's Up North. He's expected to be seen in the comedy-drama, Camp. He's also been doing more music videos lately.

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons (Lily Tucker-Pritchett)

As Lily Tucker-Pritchett, the sweet young daughter of Cameron and Mitchell, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons played a more prominent role in the series as it went along. The show remains her only acting credit outside of a 2014 short film, though she has build a presence on YouTube. Specifically, Anderson-Emmons does the segment FoodMania Review with her mom, Amy. They started making videos in 2015 and they have over a million views and 19,000 subscribers.

Jeremy Maguire (Joe Pritchett)

As Joe Pritchett, the son of Jay and Gloria, Jeremy Maguire became an adorable addition to Modern Family from Season 4 onward. Outside of this show, Maguire has appeared in The Last Ship and 2017's I'm Not There. He'll next appear in the comedy-drama film, The Virgin of Highland Park. He also regularly makes videos on his YouTube account.

Reid Ewing (Dylan Marshall)

Though he only played a supporting role during the early seasons of Modern Family, Reid Ewing found himself playing a main role in the show's 11th and final season. In the role of Dylan, a love interest Haley Dunphy, the character became an endearing presence throughout the show's run, proving himself to be the man for Haley as the show progressed forward. Now that Modern Family is done, the actor-musician currently doesn't have any new acting roles announced yet. There was potentially talk of a spin-off series that would feature Ewing more prominently, but that potential series has not been announced in any official capacity — and it's hard to know if it'll ever come to be. Ariel Winter played Alex Dunphy for eleven years on ABC’s Modern Family. That’s a long time for any actress to be on a series, and she’s amassed a lot of media and fan attention over the years due to the show’s popularity. But, growing up in the public eye was “difficult” and “awful” for the young actress. Part of that public scrutiny reared its head when several people began commenting on Winter’s unexpected weight loss from medication, which was a topic fans apparently won’t stop bugging her about.

When Alex Winter changed up her antidepressant medication, the switch caused the actress to lose thirty pounds. Almost immediately, it seemed fans had an opinion about the way she looked after that and the comments section on Winter’s social media accounts were flooded with those who either commended her on the weight loss or judged her because of it. In an interview with Teen Vogue, the Modern Family star explained that she still received comments and even direct messages about the change in her appearance. In her words:

The Modern Family star conceded that the comments about her weight loss and body still bothered her after all these years, but that she’s “learned to deal with it more.” Still, Ariel Winter said she wished that people could “see the things I do” instead of spending so much time focused on what she looked like.

That said, Ariel Winter believed that it was hard for many to see the real her, primarily because she didn’t put herself out there as much. Still, she knew who she was as a person regardless of how much she chose to share on social media.

Ariel Winter recently wrapped up her 11-season run on Modern Family. The long-running comedy culminated in a two-part series finale that was full of heart, humor, and zero flashforwards. Naturally, the show’s final season didn’t please everyone, but the cast was still pretty upset that the show ended, regardless. Winter didn’t take home any mementos from the set because she has her memories, however, she did walk away with a close relationship with Nolan Gould, who played Winter’s younger brother on the show.

After the process of filming eleven different seasons, a giant TV cast such as Modern Family's can truly start to feel like a family for everyone involved from the creators to the caterers. But mostly for the on-screen stars who actually portray the clans that viewers tune in to watch. That obviously happened for certain sectors of Modern Family's mega-ensemble, especially for Ariel Winter, who revealed one of her biggest takeaways from the show. (As well as what she didn't take from the show.)

In an interview, the Modern Family cast discussed coming to a close on ABC after eleven seasons, and Ariel Winter shared that one of the biggest life gains that she's gotten from the show is her relationship with co-star Nolan Gould, who plays her younger brother Luke. Here's how she put it to the Associated Press:

You gotta love that kind of affection between sitcom youths, since it's generally only when actors are young that they can become super-close BFFs in such a way. It would be amusing if Ed O'Neill and Reid Ewing had become inseparable best friends, but obviously not as likely.

Ariel Winter has spoken up in the past about how awful it was to basically grow up on TV and go through puberty and other things in a position where millions of people watch you on a weekly basis, and while those millions of people also have the freedom to speak openly about it on different online platforms. There are lots of reasons why that scenario would be less than comforting, so it's a great thing (in a sense) that Winter had a co-star in Nolan Gould to connect with and befriend through all those darker days. The "Remember When..." conversations are going to be interesting, to say the least.

Speaking of memories, some of the Modern Family cast talked about what they wanted to take away from the show as keepsakes. Ariel Winter's TV mom, Julie Bowen, had a very specific request, in that she wanted to take home some of the bird paintings that lined an unseen portion of the Dunphy's house wall, sprinkled in with framed cast photos. Bowen felt like they were as much a part of the set's feelings of home as anything else.

On the flip side, Ariel Winter apparently didn't want to take anything away from the Modern Family set. Here's how she put it:

I imagine both Ariel and Alex would have this reaction when asked if they wanted to take the Dunphy coatrack home as a souvenir. Hopefully someone got Stella's stuff before she died.

Best known prior to Modern Family as Al Bundy of Married... with Children, Ed O'Neill plays the Modern Family patriarch Jay Pritchett. 63-years-old when Modern Family Season 1 launched back on September 23, 2009, O'Neill will be just shy of 74 when the Modern Family series finale airs. Jay went through a lot of changes over the years as he became more accepting and more... well, modern as a husband, father, and grandfather.

Ed O'Neill proved his comedy chops weren't limited to Married... with Children on Modern Family, as Jay evolved over the years without losing the ability to deliver laughs. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Emmys three times thanks to Modern Family. He mostly stuck with Modern Family for work since 2009, although he has done plenty of voice work, with roles ranging from Zyrtec commercials to Wreck-It Ralph to Finding Dory.

Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy)

Julie Bowen was an accomplished TV actress prior to playing Claire on Modern Family Season 1 thanks to Ed and Boston Legal. Claire shifted over the years from housewife to working mom to now grandmother of a couple of twins. Bowen herself gave birth to twins in 2009, and her baby bump is visible for eagle-eyed viewers of the pilot. 39-years-old when that pilot aired, Bowen is now 50. She divorced from her husband in 2018, but remains "very good friends" with him.

Julie Bowen did a lot of voice work during Modern Family's run, with projects like DuckTales and Tangled: The Series. That said, she also has live-action films like Horrible Bosses (2011) and Knife Fight (2012) to her name. Modern Family is undeniably her biggest critical success, with six consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress, with Bowen taking home the trophy in 2011 and 2012.

Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy)

The 52-year-old Ty Burrell has spent 11 seasons tackling the role of Phil Dunphy, the goofy dad of the Dunphy crew with a big heart and inconvenient fear of clowns. His bond with his kids changed as they grew up, but his marriage with Claire remained strong. Burrell worked as a voice actor throughout Modern Family's run, with roles in Finding Dory and the 2020 animated sitcom Duncanville. He also had some live-action appearances, with Muppets Most Wanted in 2014 and episodes of Key and Peele.

Notably, Ty Burrell signed a deal with 20th Century Fox TV in 2014 to develop comedy projects, and he produced and starred in the web series Boondoggle, which scored him an Emmy nom for Short Form Comedy in 2017. 42-years-old when Modern Family Season 1 premiered in 2009, Burrell accumulated eight Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor, winning in 2011 and 2014.

Sofia Vergara (Gloria Delgado)

Sofia Vergara debuted on Modern Family as Gloria Delgado at 37, playing the much-younger Colombian wife of Jay Pritchett, mother of Manny and eventually Joe. Gloria is traditional and superstitious, but deeply loving of her family. For Modern Family, Vergara has been nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmy four times. Vergara (now 47) largely appeared in live-action during her Modern Family stint, including Hot Pursuit in 2015 with Reese Witherspoon and Bottom of the Ninth in 2019 with husband Joe Manganiello.

Back in 2019, Deadline reported Sofia Vergara as set to star and produce an untitled female ensemble comedy film. Her first major project following the end of Modern Family will see her move from ABC to NBC as a new judge on America's Got Talent. Vergara has stated that she's "extremely proud to be the first Latin judge on the show."

Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell Pritchett)

The youngest of the adult cast at 34 when Modern Family Season 1 premiered in 2009, Jesse Tyler Ferguson (now 44) has played the gay son of Jay, brother of Claire, husband of Cam, and father of Lily. Originally high-strung and struggling with his relationship with his father, Mitchell was able to loosen up and embrace his family as the years passed. Ferguson primarily stayed off the big screen over the past decade, with TV roles on shows like Hot in Cleveland and Nightcap.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson managed to squeeze in some musical theater productions during his years on Modern Family, and certainly not small roles. Ferguson also appeared in Taylor Swift's "You Need To Calm Down" music video. He and his husband are expecting their first child this year. He joins his Modern Family costars in stacking up the Outstanding Supporting Actor Emmy nominations, with five to his name.

Eric Stonestreet (Cameron Tucker)

Eric Stonestreet was 38 when Modern Family launched in 2009, and Cam proved to be a devoted husband and father, a lover of farms, and a clown enthusiast with a clown alter ego by the name of Fizbo. Prior to Modern Family, Stonestreet (now 49) mostly landed one-off TV roles, with the exception of 13 episodes of CSI. Following Modern Family Season 1's launch, he landed live-action gigs like an episode of American Horror Story in 2011 and The Loft in 2015, as well as voice roles in both Secret Life of Pets films, the Sofia the First animated series, and more.

Unsurprisingly considering this is Modern Family, Eric Stonestreet has been nominated for an Outstanding Supporting Actor Emmy three times, winning twice. In 2019, Stonestreet became a partial owner of the Kansas City Royals. He has expressed interest in working with Modern Family on-screen husband Jesse Tyler Ferguson again.

Sarah Hyland (Haley Dunphy)

The eldest of the Dunphy kids was played by 19-year-old Sarah Hyland when Modern Family Season 1 launched. Haley was never the smartest of the Dunphys, but she always meant well and went on to marry on-again/off-again boyfriend Dylan and give birth to twins. Now 29, Hyland has worked on a variety of projects during the 11 seasons of Modern Family while also struggling with health issues and public perception. She underwent two kidney transplants throughout the run of Modern Family.

Despite keeping busy with Modern Family, Sarah Hyland found time to star in projects like Vampire Academy and the Dirty Dancing remake. She appeared in the controversial latest season of Veronica Mars and also worked as a voice actress, with roles on The Lion Guard, Lego DC Comics Superheroes, and more. Hyland already lined up her next network TV role following Modern Family, which may mean that Haley-centric spinoff won't happen.

Ariel Winter (Alex Dunphy)

Only 11 when Modern Family Season 1 premiered, Ariel Winter has played Alex Dunphy, a.k.a. the brainy middle child of the Dunphy family. Although Alex has always been competitive, she loves her family and uses her brains to help them... and mess with them, but she has her their backs. Winter is now 22, and most of her jobs during Modern Family were voice roles, with Sofia the First as a highlight. More recently, she played a very non-Alex Dunphy character for Law & Order: SVU.

Ariel Winter's personal life involved a lot of ups and downs as she grew up during Modern Family, which she described as "difficult" and "awful." After being emancipated from her mother, Winter underwent breast reduction surgery. She went through further changes due to medications that resulted in weight loss, and she has made all kinds of headlines with her bold wardrobe choices.

Nolan Gould (Luke Dunphy)

Believe it or not, Nolan Gould is less than a year younger than on-screen sister Ariel Winter, despite the endearingly goofy Luke seeming so much younger than the much-brainier Alex. Only 11 when Modern Family's first episode aired on ABC, the 21-year-old Gould is a member of Mensa with an IQ of 150, according to Gould himself on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. At the age of 13, he tested out of high school.

Compared to his Modern Family costars, Nolan Gould didn't tackle too many projects during Modern Family, but he does have some notable projects to his name. On top of an appearance in 2011's Friends with Benefits, he went for horror with 2012's Ghoul, and starred in the 2019 drama Yes. Gould told PopCulture that he "took an interest" in Yes because it was so different from Modern Family, but he also told PopCulture in 2019 that he's "one hundred percent on board for a spinoff or a reboot or anything."

Rico Rodriguez (Manny Delgado)

At 11-years-old when Modern Family Season 1 premiered, Rico Rodriguez was pretty young to be playing Claire and Mitchell's step-sibling and the Dunphy kids' step-uncle, but Manny with his sensitivity, love of the arts, and surprisingly grown-up tendencies (played for laughs) always delivered. Now 21, Rodriguez got his big break with Modern Family and didn't branch out a whole lot during the run of the series. He did some voice work on TV projects like Mad and The Lion Guard, played himself in The Muppets in 2011, and landed some one-off TV roles including on R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour and Austin & Ally.

Notably, Rico Rodriguez wrote a book back in 2012, called Reel Life Lessons... So Far. The book included his thoughts on growing up in the spotlight thanks to Modern Family's success, overcoming challenges, and starring on a show with Sofia Vergara playing his mom.

Having grown up on the small screen in her eleven seasons on Modern Family, actress Ariel Winter was for many years synonymous with her character Alex Dunphy, easily one of the smartest people in this extended family. In recent years, however, Winter has become a social media magnet largely independent of Modern Family, focusing in part on her physical attributes and her fashion choices, among other things. And fans might be shocked to see what she looks like now that she's changed her hair up.

Considering Alex Dunphy rocks brunette hair and apparently doesn't harbor any deep-seated goals of dying it all, Ariel Winter previously didn't have an endless supply of options when it came to changing up her hair color or hairstyle, considering the summer hiatus only lasts a few months. But now that Modern Family is packing it up for good, it provides all the free time one would need to make semi-permanent hair changes. The winter season may carry with it mental visuals of fields covered in white snow, but Ariel Winter has brought the fire with her new hair color. Regardless of what nicknames may or may not be applied, Ariel Winter's fans are definitely loving the actress' new look, which is on the opposite end of the appearance spectrum from Alex Dunphy's modest and bespectacled visage. If she's trying to convince Hollywood that she's ready for more grown-up roles that share little to do with Modern Family's sitcom vibes, I believe the past couple of years on social media have done it, with the switch to red hair capping it all off beautifully.

To be sure, Ariel Winter was not trying to keep her hair changes a secret from fans, as she'd written a post in early February about wanting to return to the red-haired look. And she even put a post up for fans prior just prior to changing it, saying "bye bye" to her dark hair.

Fans can't wait to see where Ariel Winter might end up next on either the big screen or the small screen. She popped up last year in an episode of Law & Order: SVU, a show that she apparently loves, and it's coming back for at least three more seasons, so maybe there's something for her there. She's also known for lending her voice to shows such as Robot Chicken, and she also voiced the titular character in Disney Junior's Sofia the First during its run.

Considering she's made more than one post about a certain Baby Yoda in the past couple of months, might Star Wars fans start expecting to see her show up within an episode or two of The Mandalorian in Season 2?

The time has come to say goodbye to the cast of ABC’s Modern Family. The long-running sitcom finally wrapped this week with a big party that came complete with hugs, Green Day and Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland sporting some little black dresses.

As Modern Family wrapped production over the last few days, the cast and crew members also joined together for a little party celebrating the 11-year run of the popular sitcom. Among them was a lengthy, multi-photo post from Sarah Hyland, who shared a touching idea about spending a good chunk of her life as a Dunphy.

The actress shared some looks with co-stars Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould, who all wore black for the big event. (Although the two ladies looked a lot more glammed up than their little TV brother.) Hugs were shared and more, but beyond the tangible emotion, these photos show how much growing up the three young actors did while on the sitcom.

It’s an idea that Ariel Winter even spoke out about recently, noting it was difficult to grow up on-screen as she and her co-stars went through puberty and stuff like voice and body changes.

It’s not just the kids on Modern Family who have been on our screens for a long time. The cast of the ABC sitcom sported a lot of adults too during its lengthy run and made actors and actresses like Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Ty Burrell more popular than ever. Sidenote: Ed O’Neill has been famous for forever, but I’ll still mention him as a major force on the series here.

Other actors and actresses from the set also shared photos from the series wrapping, including one where Green Day’s “Good Riddance” played while those involved with the show hugged and cried. Sofia Vergara shared the video and as you can see she’s extremely touched in the moment.

And finally, Sofia Vergara also shared a look at the cast and crew saying goodbye, which also gives you a pretty cool overhead view of the studio lot and the city outside the lot as well. Modern Family has typically shot interior scenes at the Fox lot in Culver City.

Perhaps the one that spelled things out the best was Eric Stonestreet’s reaction.  (Should we expect anything else given how the actor has handled the emotional ending of the series over the past few days?) The actor woke up this morning on what would normally be a work day just to have the following realization.

Modern Family is over for the cast, but it’s not quite over for the fans yet. The ABC series is expected to continue running through the first part of April. The cast will be at Paleyfest LA in March and then the series finale is expected to air on April 8, 2020. Then and only then will it truly be the end of an era. But I still get how the cast currently seems to feel and we'll continue to share their thoughts as the series comes to its conclusion. In the meantime, I hope they had the time of their lives.

It’s hard to believe Modern Family is about to end. Over the last couple of years, we’ve seen so many staples on TV go. The Big Bang Theory wrapped up its run. Game of Thrones ended, with varying degrees of success. Now, Modern Family and Criminal Minds are saying goodbye. With those endings has come one final table read for Sofia Vergara and the rest of the Modern Family cast.

Taking to social media, Sofia Vergara shared a couple of posts about Modern Family and its final table read. She thanked fans for sticking with the show as the kids have aged and grown and the series has gone in new directions, noting,

Eric Stonestreet, who plays Mitchell Pritchett’s partner Cameron Tucker on the series, also lent a bit of humor to his own table read post with the addition of some music. Finally, Claire Dunphy actress Julie Bowen paid tribute to the writers on Modern Family with her own post from the final table read, giving a moment to those who work behind the scenes on the series.

This all comes on the heels of Ariel Winter admitting earlier this week that there’s only a few more days of production left to get through, as she shared a look at herself on the set of the long-running ABC sitcom.

She’s not the only one sharing her trailer on set, as that’s something Sofia Vergara also did as the series is nearing the end of its run. Not too shabby for a place you’ve had to spend huge chunks of the last 11 years in.

It’s hard to believe it has been 11 seasons since Modern Family first hit the airwaves. That is, until you realize exactly how much the original kids on the show have grown since Season 1. Then, you might really start to feel old.

On the bright side, it's not all over yet. Ariel Winter has made headlines in recent years for her social media presence as she she’s transitioned from a teen actress into adulthood. She’s had to navigate the pitfalls of fame all while starring in ABC’s hit comedy Modern Family and now she’s opened up about growing up in the spotlight and how “difficult” that really is.

In a recent interview Ariel Winter talked about what it was like to be a young person in the spotlight and from her comments, she didn’t really appreciate a lot of the side effects of fame while working on Modern Family.

It’s not just Ariel Winter who really had to go through puberty on the small screen, however. Many of her young co-stars suffered the same fate, particularly Nolan Gould, who plays Luke Dunphy, and Rico Rodriguez, who plays Manny Delgado. Speaking at TCA (via USA Today), Ariel Winter spoke out more about the changes she and her co-stars went through, specifically mentioning braces as a bad time for character.

However, it should be noted that Winter's weight ups and downs have often been commented on during her time on the show as well. Along with Ariel Winter gaining weight, having to wear braces and generally developing during the decade+ the show has been on the air, her other formerly pint-sized co-stars also went through changes with size, weight and the dudes even dealt with their voices cracking on screen.

They weren’t the only ones. Sarah Hyland also had to deal with growing up in the spotlight and having to deal with people being vocal about her body. It was only a couple of years ago when she was forced to address health issues publicly after people accused her of being anorexic. She was already in her mid-twenties when this happened.

Ultimately, Ariel Winter and her co-stars came out the other side of growing up in the spotlight. These days, her character Alex Dunphy has graduated college and gone on to nab her first grownup job on the series. It just goes to show that 11 years is a really long time in the scheme of things for a show to be on the air.

That said, Season 11 of Modern Family will be the longtime sitcom’s last. ABC announced the news last year during the TCA winter tour. At the time, it was good news (ish) as the show was being given a final season to wrap up remaining storylines. However, now that we are partway though that final season, the end really is nigh.

Some of the actors involved with the show have already signed on for their next projects, but perhaps for actors like Ariel Winter, it will give her a chance to take a step back from what she feels have been somewhat negative internet interactions thus far.

The world can be a rough place, but everyone seems to be uniting in their love for Baby Yoda, The Mandalorian’s sweet and adorably fuzzy green creature. The Modern Family actress looks comfortable and well-rested at home, as opposed to filming the popular ABC sitcom’s 11th and final season. Ariel Winter is absolutely right. No one can reach Baby Yoda levels of adorable and I'd like to see anyone try. The character, first introduced in The Mandalorian’s Season 1 premiere, has taken the internet by storm with memes, gifs, and pictures for products that sadly weren’t released in time for the 2019 holiday season.

Anything Baby Yoda does, from sipping soup to blinking sleepily, is considered sacred and precious. Ariel Winter knows she can’t possibly compete with that level of cuteness, at least in a general "everybody is a fanatic" way. Baby Yoda would approve of Winter’s willingness to humble herself before him, assuming he understood what the deal was.

However, perhaps the Modern Family actress could let Baby Yoda borrow the crop top, just so the internet can have more of the cuteness. Just throw the top so that it lands on his head, covering half of his face, and then when he tries to put it on, his whole body just slides through the neck hole. It's just too cute, people!

Besides taking the time to capture looking cute for the camera, Ariel Winter has been hard at work filming Modern Family and hitting the gym to get fit for the show’s final season. A couple of months ago, Winter posted several videos detailing her hardcore gym workouts and they looked intense.

Fans concerned about Ariel Winter's sudden weight loss were soothed by the actress' updates about her health and wellness. Winter revealed that switching medications led to her drop in weight, as opposed to something more problematic. Though it’s been a while since she’s posted about gym workouts, her latest photos seems to indicate that she’s happy with herself at the moment, and it shows.

Because of Ariel Winter’s caption, however, I definitely can’t look at the photos the same way anymore. Her crop top is cute and Winter seems like she’s having fun posing for the photos, but I keep imagining where soup-sipping Baby Yoda could be edited into the photos now that the sweet green creature has been brought up, but maybe that’s just me. If we’re lucky, Baby Yoda could guest star before the show’s end, but that’s a pipe dream. The long-running ABC comedy Modern Family is wrapping up an extended run with a highly-anticipated series ender, and one of its stars has been hitting the gym as the end grows near. It seems to be a growing trend for actors heading into a final season, and star Ariel Winter was a gym frequenter in preparation for Modern Family's swan song season.

Similar to how Tom Ellis has been so gym-heavy going into Lucifer’s last installment, Modern Family's Ariel Winter has been sharing lots of gym videos and updates surrounding her unexpected weight loss. The Modern Family recently explained what's behind the recent changes, with a significant contributor being a change in her medications.

Back in October 2018, Ariel Winter showed off a video of a super exhausting-looking exercise at the gym. Posted when Modern Family’s penultimate season was still airing on ABC, the video's caption stated that Winter was already working on her fitness. Fast forward to October 19, at which point the Modern Family cast had already learned that Season 11 would be the show's last; they'd accordingly shared their reactions to the news. The bad news didn't stop Ariel Winter from continuing her gym routine or sharing her workouts with her Instagram followers, though. A few weeks after Season 11 premiered, Winter showed off the hard work she was putting in at the gym in this video:

This one is of another incredibly tough exercise that is exhausting just to watch, so I do not know how the Modern Family star does it! The Modern Family star is going through the final season on a new medication and a continued fitness regimen. While the ABC comedy has not gotten a spinoff quite yet, it will be interesting to see if Ariel Winter’s Alex Dunphy will play a role if one ever happens. Her on-screen sister has her next TV role lined up, and Winter herself recently cameoed on an episode of Law & Order: SVU, but hasn't lined up a future gig just yet.

What will Ariel Winter get up to next? Time will tell, although the actress probably will, too, considering her social media usage. Modern Family ending has to be an emotional thing for Winter and the entire cast. The 21-year-old has grown up on the show, which started airing back in 2009, when Winter was roughly 11 years old. Getting those emotions out at the gym has to be cathartic in some ways.

ABC's Modern Family is currently airing Season 11, its final season, and fans may have noticed more than just work and personal life changes for Alex Dunphy. The middle Dunphy child also looks like she's lost some weight, and star Ariel Winter has opened up on her own unexpected weight loss.

Ariel Winter, now 21, has been on the show since it began and it's been a roller coaster for her on-and-off-screen. She hasn't had the same health complications as her on-screen sister Sarah Hyland, but she explained that medications she was taking affected her weight as well as her mental health.

The Modern Family star talked to Women's Health about her current workout plan to get more core muscles, a "big butt," and "Michelle Obama arms." She also explained how changing medications led to her unplanned weight loss:

Ariel Winter said the medications she found switched her metabolism back on, leading to weight loss she didn't even work for.

However, she doesn't weigh herself and she's not looking to lose any more weight, she's just aiming to gain muscle.

She does not like, however, when people give her backhanded compliments on her weight loss via social media:

Ariel Winter is never shy about speaking out against critics of her looks. Because fans have watched Ariel Winter grow up on camera, they've seen her physique change through the character of Alex Dunphy. That could not have been easy -- especially on top her Winter's own personal family challenges with her mother, and her sister then filing to become her guardian. Winter said she was emancipated as of 2015.

At age 17, Ariel Winter opened up to Glamour about getting breast reduction surgery from a 32F to a 34D, after the 5'1" star felt like she literally developed overnight and had to navigate being an oversexualized teen in the public eye. She said her turning point to get reduction surgery came when she couldn't find a bathing suit for her shape. But she was also in a a lot of pain from back problems, and the reduction helped with her overall health there too.

Now Ariel Winter is feeling better and speaking out about her health and weight loss, but the emotional loss of Modern Family ending is going to be something quite different.

Modern Family's co-creator has talked about feeling the pressure to stick the landing with this ending. There are still questions about whether a spinoff could come to ABC, but we'll have to wait and see for now.

We're used to seeing celebrities dressed up in assorted costumes for Halloween festivities. That said, it will be hard to top some of the costumes worn by a few noteworthy people last year. The competition is pretty darn high.

Heidi Klum, for instance, is especially known for her outlandish and often painstakingly detailed Halloween costumes, as seen by last year's Michael Jackson-influenced werewolf persona, based on the infamous "Thriller" music video. LeBron James and Gwyneth Paltrow, meanwhile, also turned a few heads last year. The former dressed up as Pennywise the Clown from IT and went all out with his costume. The latter, meanwhile, didn't so much turn heads as much as she put her own to good use, as Paltrow played up the twisted, tragic fate of her character in Se7en for high comedic value.

It's no easy feat to pull off the Pamela Anderson look, but Ariel Winter does it in style, and the Internet is certainly appreciative of the costume choice. Whether or not we'll be seeing Pamela Anderson rocking out an Ariel Winter costume is something that will need to be determined in the days ahead.

If Winter's social media is any indication, she is comfortable showing off some skin. Her style choices land somewhere between Lana Del Rey and Kim Kardashian--or maybe between Rachel Evan Wood and Kylie Jenner.

The difference between most of Ariel Winter's wardrobe choices and this one is the location. For example, there are several images of her in a long pink wig and a skin-baring top for Coachella. There are even photos of her at other events with her Modern Family co-stars where everyone is wearing glamorous gowns and tuxedos. Winter clearly knows how to turn up the volume at the right time. Perhaps someone should have made some calls to see what everybody else was planning to wear.
