Spoilers below for most of the first season of The Beauty for anyone who hasn’t yet watched on FX or via Hulu subscription.

Sometimes the best TV just holds a mirror up to society and dramatizes the loudest reflections, and sometimes reality is already so warped that an extra bit of zhuzh is necessary to take the story over the top. Ryan Murphy and Matthew Hodgson’s The Beauty is just such a show, bringing an already prescient and stellar comic book series (from creators Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley) fully into the billionaire-spotted wasteland we call the present, centering on a perfection-encoded STD that people are perfectly willing to doom themselves to contract.

The Beauty is certainly unlike anything else hitting the 2026 TV schedule, but it also stands apart from a lot of the other projects that Murphy has created, co-created and produced over the last 27 years, despite sharing similar genres, themes and cast members. I’m admittedly not a completist when it comes to his TV oeuvre, and more readily flock to genres that show off his darker interest,, but I feel very nearly entirely confident in saying The Beauty is his best work yet.*

That qualifying asterisk will get explained lower, but I’d rather jump right into talking about why I think this weird and hilarious body horror mystery thriller is a Murphy-tethered creative team at the top of its game. I know the first season isn’t even over yet, and that this might sound like early bell-ringing, so let me talk out some of the reasons why I think The Beauty rises above.

The Beauty Is Telling A Gripping Story That Has A Clear Beginning, Middle And Endgame Scenario

Less an issue with streaming shows than network and cable projects, but Ryan Murphy creations can often start off extremely strong before going completely off the rails in every which way. (Which has its own inherent enjoyment factor, to be sure.) Many other cases will hook audiences for the majority of a season, only to poison the well with an ill-advised ending, a la The Watcher. (Or for just continuing the madness for too long in general, cough-Nip/Tuck-cough.)

The Beauty, however, even as it jumps around from the present to the past, has never once felt as if characters or story beats were spinning out in place without a clear next step in the narrative. Even as it jumps from romance to action to grossness, even as giant twists are introduced, and even as episodes get seemingly hijacked by unfamiliar characters, the forward momentum hasn't wavered.

The Beauty's Superb Cast And Their Characters All Feel Of The Same Universe

Similar to how plotlines can veer into questionable territories when seasons go on a little too long, some of the cast members and characters that populate the dozens of Ryan Murphy creations can sometimes feel as if they're in a completely different production that does not run parallel to anyone else's arcs and performance energy. Issues like these tend to crop up in episodes where creators/showrunners aren't as heavily invested, with other writers and directors stepping in, with the shift in authority making it easier for tonal inequality.

That's somehow not the case within The Beauty, possibly because so many of the characters exist on heightened plains of self-obsession. Evan Paters' Cooper is the most "normal" person on this show, but even he feels like he stepped out of a pulpy, whiskey-soaked P.I. novel from the '40s. So even if his energy isn't ramped up to where Ashton Kutcher's is at any given point, they're still both highly performative, and thus don't feel at odds.

The Twists Aren't Too Twisty (The Clown), And The Drama Isn't Too Melodramatic

Many of the surprises embedded in The Beauty are smart and organic to the story, such as having Jordan get infected with the Beauty so early on due to a lapse in judgment, or Jeremy's arc of trying to be a better person than his life as an incel. Elsewhere, twists come from learning new information in flashbacks that changes what we know about things in the present. It's not exactly rocket science, but the American Horror Story-verse is full of batshit, out-of-nowhere twists that aren't nearly as germane.

The ongoing theme here is obviously "moderation," and that also goes for the story beats that could have very easily fallen into maudlin and melodramatic territory, such as everything involving the daughter of John Carroll Lynch's Meyer Williams and his wife Juliana, portrayed by Kelli O'Hara. I was fully ready for that story to take some horrendous turn involving their progeria-afflicted daughter Joey (Kaylee Halko). That dark turn could still come, certainly, but the fact that there was a "happy" ending to begin with is almost unheard of for a Ryan Murphy horror.

Asterisk Explained: The Reason I'm Not Fully 100% Behind The Beauty Being The Best

Okay, there are technically two reasons, but they're both minute enough to get smashed together and count as one.

First, the last two episodes of the season still haven't aired, and for all that I'm hyper-confident that they'll be just as great as the preceding nine episodes, there is absolutely the possibility that any and all of the aforementioned graces will be shat upon and returned to sender as the story spins wildly out of control. I don't think the chances are very high, but I know they exist.

Second, there's a part of me that will never be able to love another Ryan Murphy show as much as I love American Horror Story as a whole, despite not feeling as strongly about certain seasons as others. Some of my first large-scale writing for CinemaBlend was covering AHS: Murder House, and the years I wrote up those seasons will always be cherished. Of course, even that first season spread across the entire spectrum from "really good" to "dog fart soup." But that was 15 years ago, and we're all smarter and better now. And The Beauty is undeniable proof.

Of all the Ryan Murphy-produced TV shows showcasing obsessions with physical looks and lust, The Beauty may very well feature the most blatantly vapid and conceited characters. Seeing it in live-action makes the comic book source material all the more palpable (and pulpy, per the viscera), but it the horror-tinged thriller all THAT far from our current reality? Star Ashton Kutcher doesn’t think so in the slightest.

As the attractive billionaire Byron Frost, or the moniker The Corporation, Kutcher is absolutely killing it playing a poster child (or grown ass man) for the show’s central STD that grants its “sufferers” gorgeous faces, chiseled physiques and all the fixins. When CinemaBlend spoke with the actor (alongside co-stars Anthony Ramos and Jeremy Pope), I asked if he thought there was a situation where it would actually be justifiable to opt in on getting the Beauty, and he pointed out that we’ve been heading down that road for years. In his words:

I can't tell if it's a good or a bad thing that nobody needs to have sex in order to get Invisalign, but it's probably a good thing.

Kutcher continued pointing out a wide range of examples of cosmetic changes becoming the norm, saying:

As seen in the video up top, I was jokingly taken aback by his comments, seeing as how I am one of those people who shaves off my mustache while letting the rest of my facial hair go wild. To be fair, though, I don't think my mug would pass Beauty-related muster, regardless of whether I had a mustache or not. Maybe if the show was called The Derpus...

Ashton Kutcher wrapped up his assessment by pointing to another highly controversial, DNA-altering practice that has raised concerns over the years. As he put it:

At this point, one of the biggest ways reality stands apart from the world of The Beauty’s central disease is that most of the cosmetic changes made in the real world don’t cause massive amounts of sudden involuntary pain that literally alter the entire configuration of a person’s body. Not that I think such pain and goopy messes would be a major hindrance from those interested in catching it, though the murderous rages and head explosions might sway some.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have long been celebrities, meaning people judge your every move and every habit as shared. This includes personal hygiene as, in 2021, the couple found themselves at the center of a cleanliness rumor. At that point, Kunis revealed that she and her husband didn't bathe their kids with soap and water as frequently as most people. That led to speculation that they didn't shower, either. Now, Kutcher is finally addressing those rumors.

The That ‘70s Show alums have both shared their own takes on showering in the past, with Kunis saying she grew up not showering much, while Kutcher admitted he only cleaned his “armpits and [his] crotch daily and nothing else ever.” Many people subsequently assumed the duo meant they didn't shower at all or very, very little. During a recent interview with People, though, Kutcher confirmed he his bathing habits while reflecting on the chaos that their original comments sparked:

It’s not surprising that his and Kunis’ comments were taken out of context. However, it does sound like they do, in fact, shower and keep clean. Considering all the events they go to and jobs they have, it's especially easy to imagine they'd want to stay as fresh as possible. Plus, with Kutcher going to the gym, showering is necessary. While Kutcher has finally put the rumors to bed, anyone who still has doubts, should listen to Kutcher’s The Beauty co-star, Anthony Ramos, who added:

It's honestly wild to see what kind of rumors tend to swirl around celebrities in regard to their personal lives. Despite the brouhaha, though, the showering rumor doesn’t seem to have gotten to Kutcher or Kunis. To that point, Kunis previously (and jokingly) congratulated The Rock on showering while reflecting on her original shower comments. If anything, this is something the couple can laugh at now that a considerable amount of time has passed.

Meanwhile, Ashton Kutcher’s showering habits are not the only personal details that have gone viral over the last few years. For instance, in 2023, the Ranch star admitted to putting orange juice in his coffee rather than creamer, and it’s yet another detail that is absolutely mind-boggling to me. Since that was a few years ago, it’s possible things have changed on that front, but I still find the notion of orange juice-infused coffee to be nuts.

It can't be said for sure whether Kutcher and Kunis have even more weird habits or rules while working that they have yet to reveal. Should they divulge any further habits, though, I'd expect them to be careful with their wording as not to be misunderstood. We'll have to see if they come clean (sorry, had to do it) about any other aspects of their lives.

As a comic book fanatic, I've long been primed for Ryan Murphy's adaptation of the twisted comic book series The Beauty, with cast members like Evan Peters, Rebecca Ferguson and Ashton Kutcher only helping to stoke my lofty excitement. Those hyped expectations have somehow only grown even larger now that FX has released the show's heightened and surprisingly hilarious first trailer, which puts the spotlight on Kutcher's character and the highly coveted STD that the show is named for.

That's right, the upcoming horror series The Beauty is about a sexually transmitted disease that people are clamoring to get, as it turns the afflicted gorgeous and model-esque, with the unfortunate caveat that the disease obliterates one's life expectancy, and can also turn sufferers wild and murderous just prior to their hyper-violet deaths. So ju-u-ust a touch different from your crabs and HIV.

Seen in the trailer above, Ashton Kutcher portrays the bazillionaire douchebag seemingly responsible for unleashing The Beauty onto an unsuspecting population. As if that weren't awful enough, the character goes by the name of The Corporation, which I'm pretty sure no respect-worthy person has ever called themselves. Not that he's bothered by his morally repugnant behavior or the effects that his product, so to speak, is having on users. Here's how he puts it:

While the full series could certainly prove me wrong, I can't help but think this looks like the most fun Ashton Kutcher has had with a TV role in ages, and that includes his and Mila Kunis' returns for That '90s Show.

While Kutcher is clearly the bad guy here from a viewer perspective, despite being a hero to those "suffering" from the Beauty, Evan Peters and Rebecca Ferguson are on the case as protagonist detectives Cooper Madsen and Jordan Bennett, respectively.

Also on board is Anthony Ramos, and I love seeing him back in a fun-loving villain role after he proved adversarial in the MCU's Ironheart. Here, he'll be portraying the similarly vaguely monikered The Assassin, and his trailer moments do indeed play up his deadly nature. Not to mention his stylish fashion choices.

As if those marquee names weren't excellent enough on their own, we can also look forward to seeing Jeremy Pope in a recurring capacity, along with guest stars such as Bella Hadid, Isabella Rossellini, Vincent D'Onofrio, Ben Platt and Jessica Alexander. Here's hoping a few other Ryan Murphy go-to stars pop up in surprising ways.

The Beauty was created for the page by writer Jeremy Haun and artist Jason A. Hurley, with the original series running for 30 issues from 2015-2019. Haun and Hurley reunited for a new comic book story arc that coincides with the FX show's arrival, with the first issue having hit shelves in October 2025.

Mila Kunis spoke in the past about her and Kutcher's kids watching inappropriate movies at a young age, so I can't imagine they'll be allowing the offspring to check out this comic adaptation until they're in college. But you can bet I'll be cemented in place when it debuts, even if I'm looking worse for the wear while doing so.

The Beauty is set to shake up the 2026 TV schedule with its body-dropping run on FX and via Hulu subscription starting on Wednesday, January 21, at 9:00 p.m. ET.

There’s no denying Mila Kunis is a certified movie star. Her career took off in the late ‘90s and thrived into the 2000s and 2010s, appearing in That ‘70s Show, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Black Swan and many more. But you may noticed she’s only made a few movies over the past five years. The last time we saw Kunis was for one film in 2024, the Michael Keaton-led comedy Goodrich. Her absence on camera is not because she’s out of work, but rather due to a set of rules she and her husband, That ‘70s Show co-star Ashton Kutcher, put in place as parents working in Hollywood.

Raising kids is not an easy job, especially when you’re an actor with crazy hours and month long sets hours away from home. Hollywood power couple Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have one rule they live by for the sake of their kids, and the Ted actress told Extra TV it’s the reason why she has been missing from our screens:

The movie-star duo might have had some parenting fails over the years, but I think this is something they got right. Stars like Reese Witherspoon have shared the struggles of raising kids as a working actor. In fact, raising children away from the craziness of Hollywood has been a key factor in a lot of celebrities deciding to leave L.A. So if the Punk’d star and the Bad Moms actress are in the group deciding to stay, I can see why they might put some boundaries in place to provide stability.

Mila Kunis also confirmed that she tries to only sign onto one movie a year to be more present at home with her 11-year-old daughter Wyatt and 8-year-old son Dimitri. This is what made me realize that the That ‘90s Show parents must be pretty successful to be able to live off one movie a year (for the most part). Of course, our humble self-aware queen acknowledged that not every actor is afforded that “luxury,” and she doesn’t “take that for granted.”

I have to imagine this deal she and Ashton Kutcher have struck up is not only healthy for their family unit, but also their marriage to each other. Too often do you see celebrity marriages in Hollywood end in divorce, but Kunis and Kutcher are still going strong. Who knew ex-co-star friends-with-benefits could result in 10 years (and counting) happily married?!

Honestly, they’ve always handled the celebrity life maturely, and this working arrangement once again highlights their excellent communication and respect for one another. I’ll never forget how they handled those separation rumors back in 2019 by posting a hilarious video reacting to the tabloid gossip together:

Thankfully, we don’t have to wait much longer to see Kunis return to the big screen. The Jupiter Ascending actress picked one of the most highly anticipated films on the 2025 movie schedule for her one movie this calendar year: Wake Up Dead Man. The latest Rian Johnson Knives Out Mystery has already screened to rave reviews, and will be available to stream December 12 with a Netflix subscription.

A mega-producer who often has multiple TV series airing simultaneously, Ryan Murphy is currently celebrating the success of Monster: The Ed Gein Story on Netflix, with his network TV offerings 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville recently debuting on ABC. Plus, there's the Kim Kardashian-starring legal drama All's Fair, the anthology Love Story's debut, and the Bret Easton Ellis adaptation The Shards. He's a busy dude, to say the least, but the project of his I'm most excited for is the comic-sourced horror-thriller The Beauty.

Based on the acclaimed comic book series co-created by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley, The Beauty takes place in a world where a serum is developed that gives users a miraculous new lease on youth and vigor. Of course, miracles come with stiff prices; in this case, anyone who takes the imperfect “beauty” formula is guaranteed both a shortened lifeline and a wildly violent ending, and it’s up to a specialized group of government agents to figure out what’s happening

Speaking at New York Comic-Con (via EW) alongside various cast members, Ryan Murphy offered up a synopsis that points to the dangers invested in the new show’s narrative, saying:

Murphy is talking about Evan Peters and co-star Rebecca Hall, who are presumably playing Drew Foster and Kara Vaughn, respectively, the comic book agents whose lives become enveloped in a rash of high-profile deaths that lead them further into a wide-ranging government conspiracy. And that's likely where Ashton Kutcher's character comes in.

Last seen starring in the 2023 Netflix rom-com Your Place or Mine and cameoing in That ‘90s Show Season 1 with Mila Kunis, Kutcher returns to serialized TV as The Beauty's biotech billionaire baddie, even if he isn't necessarily a villain within his own story, nor to the many people actively seeking out and enjoying the benefits of the age-defying concoction.

Ryan Murphy Makes The Beauty Sound Like Nothing Else On TV

Already, The Beauty's storyline is a unique one, even if it may outwardly seem to share similarities with network crime procedurals. But Murphy shared that it truly does mash together all kinds of styles and moods, saying:

How many times have you seen a buddy-comedy project that also boasts "a lot of body horror?" The first thing I can think of is Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil, and there aren't a whole lot of other examples easily following that one. But even that beloved feature didn't exactly hang on a great love story, and maybe didn't have action sequences that earned an "amazing" descriptor.

As well, how many times do we get to see Evan Peters as the hero and Ashton Kutcher as the villain? Never in the same show before now.

Murphy's explanation also works to describe the comic book, which skews a bit more horror than anything else, which isn't a genre that most of its stars are known for, from Kutcher to Jeremy Pope to Anthony Ramos. (It also applies to Bella Hadid, who plays one of the unfortunate supermodels mentioned above.) Which just makes me all the more excited, knowing how well-versed Peters is with darker storytelling after earning praise for Monster's Jeffrey Dahmer and many seasons of American Horror Story, both from Ryan Murphy.

The Beauty doesn’t yet have an official release date locked in, but Murphy indicated that audiences with FX and/or Hulu subscriptions will be able to enjoy all the head-exploding fun during the “third week of January” 2026.

It’s only been around a year since the très-scandalous Mormon TikTok influencer group MomTok made The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives a sensation for fans with Hulu subscriptions, and the second season was already released during the first half of summer on the 2025 TV schedule. Needless to say, the mothers have amassed quite the following, including Mila Kunis. She’s so much of one apparently, husband Ashton Kutcher surprised her with a phone call from the cast.

While attending a Tiff premiere for her new movie, Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man, she shared the stan-like behavior with ET. After the interviewer asked her about the Salt Lake City based show, the 42-lit up and claimed she could tell them anything about it. Then, quickly jumped into revealing how and when the telephone conversation went down with Kutcher. Kunis explained he was working on the east coast and called early with a tease, saying:

There’s one main thing that pops into my mind as she begins the retelling. As someone who grew up during the MTV Punk’d era, I don’t know if I could ever trust the 47-year-old. Clearly, she’s either an incredible sport of antics or he’s no longer reveling in that type of pranking. Either way, I’m glad that she stayed after his promise.

Quickly after the statement, Kunis said that he turned the camera around to reveal that he’d run into the girls from the newer reality show. Along with it, she shared that she was elated, and jumped right into a memorable chat, as she said:

It’s one hell of a surprise and maybe showcases a more positive angle on his current pranks. Regardless, as a fellow fan of the women of MomTok, I’m sure it was an A+ experience and conversation. You can check out the full clip of the anecdote below:

Her whole moment was kind of crazy, right? Barely coherent to greeting some of the world’s current most famous Mormon faces. And their popularity is just rising, Taylor Frankie Paul is the newest and buzziest Bachelorette along with Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt having joined ranks with announced DWTS contestant Alix Earle. I hope that this story’s quick twists and turns reflect 2025 Netflix streaming release Kunis is in and Season 3 of SLOMW. Fingers crossed!

For now, I’ll be content replaying Kutcher’s surprise video call of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives talking with his wife. Along with it, I’m happy to know another celebrity can be added into the reality TV fandom.

The trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs is certainly gaining a lot of media attention due to the accused being a famous rapper and media mogul. However, that’s not the only reason so many people are following the trial closely. Many of the charges surround exactly what took place at the often massive parties Diddy has thrown in the past, and many of those parties had a lot of major celebrities in attendance.

Now, Brad Pitt, as far as anybody knows, never attended one of Diddy’s White Parties, which made it that much more interesting when his name actually did come up during testimony at Diddy’s trial. His name is just one among many that have been mentioned, or likely will be, as the trial continues, so let's discuss why.

Celebrities Who Attended Diddy’s Parties

While many celebrities have been playing down their relationship with Diddy following his arrest, a lot of names had previously been connected to the rapper because we knew they went to his various parties. Jennifer Lopez once dated Diddy, and their relationship was originally confirmed when they were spotted at one of his parties together. Lebron James is another star who we know attended some of Diddy's parties in the past.

There’s been viral video of Kevin Hart in attendance at a Diddy party, and Ashton Kutcher has been asked, and avoided answering questions, about what went on at the parties in the past. If Brad Pitt had appeared at one of those parties, it honestly wouldn’t have been out of place. However, despite the fact that he didn't attend one, his name came up at trial for a very different reason.

How Brad Pitt’s Name Came Up At Diddy’s Trial

Brad Pitt came up during testimony this week by a former assistant to Diddy, who testified (via People) under the pseudonym “Mia.” Mia was with Diddy and his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura when they attended the 2012 Cannes Film Festival premiere of Brad Pitt’s movie Killing Them Softly.

Mia testified that Combs and Ventura were speaking in the theater when the rapper became agitated and began “digging his nails into her arms.” Diddy then allegedly told Ventura to leave, which she did, despite the fact that, in Mia’s words, “no one ever leaves in the middle of a premiere event.”

Interestingly, People reported at the time that Combs was in attendance at a party that Pitt threw following the premiere. So while Pitt never attended one of Diddy’s parties, the reverse is actually true.

The party was so long ago that Brad Pitt had only just become engaged to Angelina Jolie. At the time, it was reported that Combs had shared a drink with Pitt to congratulate him on this big moment.

There have been all kinds of different eras throughout WWE’s history. The New Generation, the Attitude Era, the Ruthless Aggression phase, the PG-TV days, and others quickly come to mind. Parents understand this dilemma. From the moment you have kids – at least, if you are a movie lover – you start to brainstorm the movies you can’t wait to share with your sons and daughters. Sometimes, they are movies the whole family will love. In fact, if you are a family looking for an evening together in front of a great movie, here are the best options streaming at the moment. But other films were special to us growing up, and we hope that they are going to have a similar effect on our kids. Except, our memories of these movies might not be as sharp as we had hoped.

This has happened to me a number of times over the years. We have two boys, and they are now 20 and 16. But as they were growing up, I tried all sorts of movies that were impactful to me as a kid. And maybe only half of them worked on my kids. Usually, they’re just dated, and move too slow for a more modern audience. Other times, they are not appropriate, and I surprise myself by thinking, “I watched this when I was 10?”

Something similar happened to Mila Kunis as she and Ashton Kutcher were showing their kids a film for family movie night. The Bad Moms star ended up being a bit of a bad mom, sharing this story as she made the press rounds to promote her new movie Goodrich, co-starring Michael Keaton. Kunis told CinemaBlend about a family road trip they took through Iowa, and on a beautiful summer night, they decided to pull the camper over, set up a projector, and show their kids Raiders of the Lost Ark. What could be bad about Indiana Jones searching for the Ark of the Covenant? Well, as Kunis describes it:

Who can blame Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher for trying to show their kids Raiders of the Lost Ark? Indiana Jones is a seminal hero in American cinema. And it’s not like they teed up Temple of Doom! That movie was so disturbing, it helped lead to the creation of the PG-13 rating at theaters. The later Indiana Jones movies are more family friendly, though The Last Crusade still has its fair share of Nazis.

What’s funny is, Mila Kunis didn’t stop there. As it turns out, she had another personal experience of firing up a movie from her youth that she thought would go over really well, only to have it bomb. As Kunis explained, her daughter had a friend stay over, and both girls – who were around 9 years of age – were super into cheerleading. Kunis, like most of us, immediately thought of Kirsten Dunst’s classic comedy Bring It On. Great pick, right? Well, Kunis admitted to CinemaBlend:

Still, sharing Bring In On has become a rite of passage for some. I mean, look at Bring It On co-star Gabrielle Union and her baby daughter rocking matching Bring It On outfits for Halloween. That’s adorable. I wonder when Union will show the movie to her daughter? Probably older than nine.

We don’t think Mila Kunis is a bad mom for trying to show Bring It On and Raiders of the Lost Ark to her kids. I mean, she could have popped on Ted. Or even Black Swan. That would do some permanent damage.

The floodgates are seemingly opening wider for claims and stories about the allegedly salacious house parties thrown by rapper and business mogul Diddy, who is currently still being detained in Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center after his bail attempts were denied. Most of the stories surrounding him are of a critical nature, from various sexual assault and abuse accusations to that time he mistook Selena Gomez for a valet, but positive-minded are also spreading, such as a resurfaced Ashton Kutcher interview where he addresses their fast-friendship.

Several years ago, Kutcher appeared on the fan-favorite Internet series Hot Ones, where he engaged in the normal guest behavior of chowing down on mouth-scorching wings while answering personal and professional questions asked by host Sean Evans. In an awkwardly worded question, Evans mentions that Diddy party stories are a “favorite genre of anecdote” on the show, and cues the Steve Jobs star up to share one, and it’s the latter’s immediate reaction that’s caused the video to spread around again.

He stammered and hesitated a bit at first, saying:

While Ashton Kutcher gets the benefit of the doubt here, it's perhaps not so impossibly difficult to understand why netizens are suspicious about the way the actor tackled that question. By directly stating there are stories that are too saucy to be shared even within a candid-minded setting like Hot Ones, Kutcher makes it seem as if he knows details that others would not want to be made public. (Himself possibly included.)

Plus, when he did actually tell a story about Diddy, he intentionally skipped right past anything vaguely controversial and instead talked about how they first became friends, and noted that they would watch football together a lot. But then he told a quick story about an impromptu run with an unprepared Diddy that speaks to the latter's perceived inability to be lesser-than. As the '70s Show star put it:

That can't lose mentality is one that no doubt played a huge part in Diddy's successful career over the decades, as well as his previous success in mostly staying out of jail despite a history of legal issues.

Amidst other celebrities whose past comments about Diddy are resurfacing, Ashton Kutcher's comments specifically stand out due to the actor's long-standing relationship with former co-star Danny Masterson, who was convicted on forcible rape charges in May 2023. Kutcher and wife Mila Kunis (who also appeared on Hot Ones a couple of years later) came under a ton of public scrutiny after it was revealed they both penned letters of support ahead of his prison sentencing in September 2023.

The couple put out a statement after news of the letters spread around, more or less defending their choice as a request they honored for Danny Masterson's family, saying they described their relationship with him and gave their impressions, but did not question the validity of the judge's decision nor his victims' claims.

It's not clear if (or how many) more videos will surface of Ashton Kutcher and/or other notable Hollywood mainstays sharing stories about Diddy's parties, freak-off sessions and more. As well, it remains to be seen if Kutcher will release a new statement or interview addressing his and Diddy's long-standing friendship.

It’s been over 18 years since That ‘70s Show ended, but it's till one of the most rewatchable series and is easily accessible via streaming. The Fox sitcom produced many eventual stars, like Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Wilmer Valderrama and Topher Grace. In Valderrama’s new memoir, An American Story: Everyone’s Invited, now out, the NCIS actor is now getting real about his own experiences working on the teen comedy. That includes his friendly competition with Kutcher and the secret to filming before a live audience.

Wilmer Valderrama and Ashton Kutcher played friends Fez and Michael Kelso, respectively, but they had a somewhat different relationship off-screen. While the two were buddies, they were also sort of like brothers in that they tried to one-up each other. Via Us Weekly, Valderrama wrote in his memoir that the two of them would come to set “extremely prepared” and would end up challenging one another while filming:

Oh, to be in the audience of a That ‘70s Show taping. I can only imagine how fun it must've been to watch the actors mix it up during and between takes. Considering Fez and Kelso were arguably two of the funniest characters on the series, it’s not so surprising that the actors who played them were basically having a “laugh-off.” I just hope they were able to get takes done with no problem and didn’t raise any eyebrows from producers, but that doesn’t seem likely.

Wilmer Valderrama shared that he and his co-stars gave themselves the nickname of the “two-takers." That term alone sums up the pair's approach to filming in front of a live audience, and it sounds like a smart approach:

The thought of filming in front of an audience week after week is daunting, so I can appreciate anyone who does it. The approach that the two '70s co-stars stars took to their work seems like a solid way to both ease tension and get the work done effectively. Kudos to them for figuring out a smart way to not only have fun with each but to entertain audiences as well.

Many now dub That ‘70s Show a series that went on too long, especially given that Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher exited as main cast members before the final season. Still, there are plenty of reasons why the show still holds a special place in fans' hearts. Among those factors is the charisma of the cast, and I love hearing more about their work together. Wilmer Valderrama and Ashton Kutcher seem to have been able to bring out the best in each other. And this recent BTS tidbit is just another reason why I appreciate the performances of these "two-takers."

Ryan Gosling has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and so it makes sense he would open a restaurant in Beverly Hills. Co-owned by the Barbie star and Chef Ben Benameur, the Moroccan joint serves up delicious food in a cozy atmosphere.

Joanne Germanotta was a beloved aunt to Lady Gaga (whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta). Not only did Gaga name a 2016 album after her, but the family has also opened Joanne Trattoria on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. In true Gaga style, the restaurant is not only a great place for Italian food, but it supports local artists, hosts regular drag shows, and has regular performances by local musicians.

Robert De Niro first became a regular at chef Nobu Matsuhisa's LA sushi joint Nobu way back in the 1980s. In the mid-90s, De Niro approached Matsuhisa about opening a New York spot. Nobu opened in 1994 in Tribeca and the company has since become a powerhouse in the hospitality industry, with dozens of restaurants and hotels all over the world. 

Michael Imperioli - Scarlet

White Lotus star Michael Imperioli has dabbled in the restaurant industry for a long time. In the mid-'90s Imperioli and his wife opened a speakeasy-style bar called Ciel Rouge, in Tribeca. Almost 30 years later, and 20 after Ciel Rouge closed in 2005, the couple opened Scarlet on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It sticks with the classy, chill speakeasy vibe that made their first venture successful. 

Sandra Bullock - Walton's Fancy & Staple

Walton's Fancy & Staple in Austin, TX, is pretty much exactly what you would expect from Sandra Bullock. It's an upscale neighborhood place with hearty food and a cheery atmosphere. Walton's is the Speed star's second restaurant in her adopted hometown. The first, Bess Bistro, closed in 2016 after a successful 10-year run. Walton's opened in 2009.

When Susan Sarandon and her fellow investors opened SPiN in 2009, there was a surge in the popularity of table tennis (or ping pong). The fad was pretty short-lived, but the table tennis-focused restaurants have remained successful with multiple locations around the country. 

Dan Aykroyd - House Of Blues

One of Dan Aykroyd's most beloved SNL characters, Elwood Blues of The Blues Brothers, has proven to be more than just a role for the actor. On Thanksgiving Day 1992, Aykroyd and his partner Isaac Tigrett (who founded the Hard Rock Cafe), opened the first House of Blues in Cambridge, MA. It has since grown into one of the largest chains of live music venues in the world, and serves some pretty delicious food, too. 

Eva Longoria - Beso

Eva Longoria can do no wrong on the big and small screens, but she didn't have much luck in the restaurant industry. Her steakhouse in LA, Beso, ran into multiple problems in its short run, though none were the fault of the actress. 

Kevin Hart - Hart House

Kevin Hart's LA chain Hart House was ambitious. He wanted to create an affordable vegan chain, and despite rave reviews, it just couldn't make it in the market. The company closed all of its locations in 2024 after initially finding success. 

Issa Rae - Hilltop Coffee And Kitchen

Issa Rae is a true force of nature both in front of and behind the camera. She's also found success in the food industry. Hilltop Coffee And Kitchen brings high-end coffee vibes to historical Black neighborhoods in LA, like Inglewood and View Park. 

Danny Trejo - Trejo's Tacos

Everyone loves tacos and every loves Danny Trejo. So of course a concept like Trejo's Tacos is sure to work and it has succeeded greatly. The chain has multiple locations across LA and has even spawned a second concept: Trejo's Donuts which also opened to rave reviews. 

Channing Tatum - Saints And Sinners

Saints And Sinners, a bar on Bourbon Street in New Orleans co-owned by Channing Tatum was a wild success... at least for a time. The industry is notoriously fickle and Tatum and his partners learned that the hard way when the bar closed in the summer of 2024 after 12 great years. 

Justin Timberlake - The Twelve Thirty Club

Justin Timberlake first dabbled in the food industry in the early teens when he helped design a Memphis-style BBQ joint in New York City called Southern Hospitality. Though he wasn't an owner, he was involved in the concept phase of the place and was a regular there. More recently, he has teamed up with restauranteur Sam Fox to open The Twelve Thirty Club in Nashville. 

Nicholas Braun - Jac’s On Bond

Cousin Greg may not always get the most respect on Succession, but the actor who plays him, Nicholas Braun, sure gets respect in the hospitality industry. Braun is an investor in multiple restaurants in New York City, including a chill bar and restaurant called Jac's on Bond Street in the trendy NoHo neighborhood. 

Zach Braff - Mermaid Oyster Bar

MacDougal Street in New York's Greenwich Village is home to some great restaurants, like the legendary Caffe Reggio and Mamoun's Falafels. It's also where you can find Zach Braff's more upscale, but still laid-back seafood spot appropriately called Mermaid Oyster Bar. 

Anthony Mackie - NoBar

Like others on this list (and in the world), Anthony Mackie has had mixed results as a bar/restaurant owner. His most famous spot, NoBar, opened in Brooklyn in 2011, followed by a second Booklyn location in 2013. Sadly both closed in 2015. 

Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis - Planet Hollywood

The granddaddy of all actor-owned restaurants has to be Planet Hollywood. The first Planet Hollywood opened in New York City in 1991. Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis, among others, were all investors in the concept and, at least at first, the restaurant was a huge success, opening additional locations across the globe. At its peak, there were upwards of 60 locations in the late '90s, but the fun didn't last. Things started to unravel and the stars started to jump shit and most of the locations, other than their most successful ones, closed. 

Richard Gere - Bedford Post Inn

Legendary actor Richard Gere doesn't just own a restaurant, he owns an 8-room bed and breakfast called the Bedford Post Inn in... appropriately, Bedford, NY. The stylish and quaint inn does include a spot to eat, the Bedford Post Tavern, and the inn and the restaurant both draw all kinds of celebrities for a restful stay or a delicious dinner. 

Robert Redford - Zoom

It shouldn't come as any surprise to learn that Robert Redford's former restaurant in Park City, UT was home to a lot of home to a lot powerbrokers during the Sundance Film Festival for many years. Prior to closing in 2016, the hot spot was where the elite met to eat and strike deals during one of the biggest film festivals in the world. 

Hugh Jackman - Laughing Man Coffee

The origin story for Hugh Jackman's Laughing Man Coffee is one of the best on this list. The Aussie actor and his wife took a trip to Ethiopia to learn more about coffee and how the beans were grown. There, according to the coffee shop's website, Jackman met a coffee farmer named Dukale. Dukale gave Jackman a real hands-on experience and after the trip, he and some partners opened Laughing Man Coffee with the goal of working directly with farmers around the world to bring their coffee to New Yorkers. 

Jon Bon Jovi - Soul Kitchen And JBJ's

Jon Bon Jovi may be most famous for being the voice of the band named after him, but he's dabbled a lot in acting, and a little in the hospitality biz. His first venture was started by his foundation and called Soul Kitchen. The restaurant, located in Red Bank, NJ, sells food for whatever hungry customers can afford. Bon Jovi has also opened a spot on the famous Broadway strip in Nashville called JBJ's which features live music and a full menu, in addition to beer and booze, of course.

Piper Perabo - Jack's Wife Freda

Piper Perabo got her big break playing a bartender in Coyote Ugly and while the New York City chain she's an investor in, called Jack's Wife Frida, doesn't feature half-dressed women dancing on the bar, it's got something even better: delicious Mediterranean food. With five locations across the city, you can always find what you're craving, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 

Jessica Biel - Au Fudge

Au Fudge, which closed its doors in 2018, was something unique in the celebrity restaurant world - a kid's restaurant. As the name implies, Jessica Biel's spot was all about dessert and candy. It also had all the stuff kids love, like chicken fingers, on the menu. The world needs more of these, right parents?

Debi Mazar - The Tuscan Gun

Debi Mazar and her chef husband's love of food was first shown through a cooking show on the Cooking Channel. They spun that into a Tuscany-themed New York restaurant called The Tuscan Gun. The dive bar is everything you could ever want in an unpretentious local water hole, which is no surprise, coming from Theroux. 

Ashton Kutcher - Dolce Enoteca E Ristorante

Ashton Kutcher has never been afraid to make risky investments. Some have paid off handsomely, like his early investments in Spotify and Uber. Others haven't worked out so well, like his short-lived Italian spot, Dolce Enoteca E Ristorante. The hot spot worked for a while but it closed in 2020, like so many other restaurants. 

Ty Burrell - The Eating Establishment

Modern Family star Ty Burrell took a slightly different route to restaurant ownership than most of the other actors on his list. Instead of starting a new spot, he bought an old one. The Eating Establishment, which dates back to 1970, was purchased by Burrell and other investors in 2016 and they've continued to run the popular Park City, UT restaurant ever since.

Jon Huertas, best known for playing Brad Alcerro in Sabrina The Teenage Witch, is the proud owner of Clutch Roadhouse in Culver City, CA. Clutch is known for its great food and charitable works, both very important to the This Is Us star. 

After finding success as a model, Ashton Kutcher quickly made a name for himself in acting by being cast as Michael Kelso in That ‘70s Show, his first role. Playing the lovable doofus for nearly the entirety of the popular Fox sitcom’s eight-season run paved the way for Kutcher’s film career and being catapulted to worldwide fame. When it comes to That ‘90s Show though, Netflix, one of the best streaming services, has opted to cast someone already famous to play Betsy Kelso, Michael’s daughter from the original series, when the sequel show returns to the 2024 TV schedule later this month.

Those who watched That ‘70s Show back in the day, or have streamed it recently with a Peacock subscription, will remember that Betsy was born in Season 7 from Michael Kelso’s brief relationship with Shannon Elizabeth’s Brooke Rockwell, the valedictorian of Point Place High School two years ahead of him. Now we’ll get to see Betsy as a young woman, with Kira Kosarin being cast to play her in the second half of That ‘90s Show Season 2. Kosarin is best known for playing Phoebe Thunderman in the Nickelodeon series The Thundermans, which ran from 2013 to 2018, and the Paramount+-exclusive follow-up movie called The Thundermans Returns was released back in March.

As you can see above, Betsy will run into Nate, the best friend of her half-brother Jay, at a country bar. But in a twist, the That ‘90s Show Part 3 trailer shows that Nate initially has no idea who she is, and him merely dancing with Jay’s sister and apparently becoming romantically involved with her, will cause problems between the two friends. Misters before sisters and all that.

Kira Kosarin will recur as Betsy in That ‘90s Show Part 3, so those who’ve been enjoying the series with their Netflix subscription don’t have to worry about her simply popping in for a guest appearance for one episode and then never being seen again. Unfortunately, don’t count on Betsy spending any time with her dad, as neither Ashton Kutcher nor Mila Kunis are expected to return to That ‘90s Show following their cameos in the first episode. Kunis, of course, played Jackie Burkhart in That ‘70s Show, and we learned that she and Michael were Jay’s parents.

The second half of That ‘90s Show Season 2 will also see Laura Prepon’s Donna Pinciotti, Leia’s mother, be given an expanded role following her appearances in Season 1 and the first half of Season 2, to the point that it sounds like she’s seriously considering moving back to Point Place. If that happens, then Leia would be able to hang out with her friends all year round, not just during the summer. Other faces returning in Part 3 include Jim Rash’s Fenton and Seth Green’s Mitch, and let’s not forget Kevin Smith’s Sonny (the son of Tommy Chong’s Leo) and Jason Mewes’ Bunch. At the end of Part 2, those two crashed into Red and Kitty’s kitchen, but rather than be run out of town, they’ll stick around Point Place and share some screen time with Ozzie… who they apparently call Fozzie. Does he look like a Muppet bear to you?

Thinking back to the early 2000s, a few movies instantly leap to my mind. 

Some of Christopher Nolan’s best films came out in the early 2000s, like Memento, Batman Begins, and The Prestige. My favorite David Lynch movie, the deliciously creepy, Mulholland Drive, came out in 2001, and hell, when we ranked the best movies of the 2000s, we put 2002’s City of God at number 1. 

But, do you want to know what 2000s film didn’t make the cut? 2004’s The Butterfly Effect, starring Ashton Kutcher, which I’ve always been a huge fan of. Now, I know a lot of people don’t even consider this movie when they think about the 2000s, but it left a huge impression on me. Here’s why.  

It Has One Of The Most Interesting Usages Of Time Travel In Any Movie That I’ve Ever Seen 

In our list of great movies about time travel, we included The Butterfly Effect, and I’m happy about that, since it utilizes time travel in a way that I haven’t seen in any other film. In the movie, Ashton Kutcher’s character, Evan, can go back in time whenever he reads his old journals. 

But, since this movie is all about the concept of the butterfly effect, he probably shouldn’t try to change anything that happened to him, no matter how traumatic it might have been.

And, it is indeed traumatic. I’ll talk more about that later, but Evan has the “great” idea to try and fix things that happened to him in the past, only to return to the present to some disastrous results. One of my favorite things about this movie is the whole concept of cause-and-effect. 

One scene in particular that still gives me the creeps is when Evan gets in the way of an explosion that happened in his childhood, only to return to the present where he’s now a double amputee, and he’s shocked by this. 

Because that’s what makes this movie so enjoyable – the consequences. In other time travel movies, like The Terminator, time travel is used primarily as a plot device. It sets the actions in motion. But, in The Butterfly Effect, time travel raises the question about whether it’s even ethical to time travel, as changing one thing in your life could impact so many other people’s lives (which again, is the whole concept of the butterfly effect). 

Either way, I applaud this early 2000s film for taking a concept such as time travel, and showing how mundane it can be (simply reading through old journals), and yet, how deadly it can also be.

The Mood And Tone Is Like No Other Film 

The Butterfly Effect is often listed as a science fiction thriller, but I honestly don’t see it as science fiction at all. 

Sure, it does involve time travel, and time travel is often associated with sci-fi, but I honestly see this more as a horror movie than anything else. And, it’s because of the mood, and the tone. It’s unlike anything else I’ve ever seen in any other movie. 

And, that’s because it makes me feel really uncomfortable. There are, of course, other movies that make me feel itchy underneath my skin, like Martin Scorsese’s, The King of Comedy, and one of my favorite films, Uncut Gems, which gives me severe anxiety. 

But, no other film truly makes me squirm like The Butterfly Effect. There’s an early scene where Evan is forced into a compromising position at a young age that really makes me feel dirty inside. There’s another scene where a dog is burned alive that just makes me want to turn my head. 

All of it is played very straight-faced, and somber, and it’s a tone that’s sustained all the way through. There literally is no single scene in the movie that is meant to make you smile, and I applaud a film with a premise like this for taking itself so damn seriously. 

Ashton Kutcher Probably Has The Best Performance In His Entire Career  

Ashton Kutcher hasn’t been seen in the best light as of late. Whether it was his letter in support of Danny Masterson, or his comments on AI, Ashton Kutcher has mostly been more in the news for things that he’s done rather than roles he’s done. 

However, there was a time when Kutcher was quite prominent in television and film. Of course most people associate him with his character of Kelso on That ‘70s Show, but he also had major roles in Dude, Where’s My Car?, No Strings Attached, and even as Steve Jobs in the 2013 biopic. 

That said, while I’ve always thought Kutcher was a pretty competent actor for the roles he was given, The Butterfly Effect is something else entirely. Kutcher plays a haunted man who has dealt with some truly traumatic events in his life, and you can see that pain written all over his face. 

This is a performance where you can tell that the character hasn’t been happy a single day in his entire life (and any smile he puts on is a falsehood), and one where you genuinely feel bad for him.

The Butterfly Effect is actually the movie that made me believe that Ashton Kutcher could truly act, and it’s a shame that I haven’t seen a movie of his since where he was this good.  

Its Many Twists And Turns Are Still Surprising, Even Today

You would think that The Butterfly Effect is the kind of movie where the twists and turns would be diminished the second or third time that you watch it, but they truly go on such disturbing paths (many of which you wouldn’t see coming) that they still work. 

For example, when Evan’s friend commits suicide, he goes back in time and gets her father to stop touching her, and when he returns to the present, she’s alive and happy. But, her brother, Tommy, is the one who takes the abuse from his father instead, and he ends up being even more dangerous than he already was. 

And, even though I know this is coming, the way it’s presented still makes me think about just how it happens, which impresses me every single time. In fact, there are more than a few twists that I still don’t quite understand the direction of, but that only adds to the twistiness of the plot, which zags when I think it’s going to zig. In every way, the twists in this movie stay effective, even after multiple viewings. 

It's One Of The Few Films Where The Alternate Ending Is Even Better Than The Theatrical Cut 

Did you ever see the original ending to Little Shop of Horrors? In it, Audrey II basically turns into kaiju proportions, and takes over the world. It’s an ending that I feel is substantially better than the ending we eventually got, but honestly, I really can’t think of any other alternate ending that truly changes the course of the movie in such a massive way.

Except for The Butterfly Effect’s, which is so cruel, and so bitter, that I’m actually surprised the theatrical ending was changed to something so safe. In the theatrical version, Evan prevents his friend, Kayleigh from having a miserable future, and he burns all of his journals so that he can no longer travel back in time and affect the present. 

But, in the director’s cut, Evan actually travels back to his body in the womb, and strangles himself with his own umbilical cord so that he’s never actually born. It’s such a cynical, dark conclusion, that I think it’s more consistent with the dire tone of the rest of the film. It’s one of the few alternate endings that I really wish was kept in the final product.

Ashton Kutcher has been in the film industry since the late ‘90s known for the top stoner film Dude, Where’s My Car?, the rom-com Just Married, and one of the best time travel movies The Butterfly Effect. After voicing his opinions on how AI could positively shape the film industry, the internet didn’t exactly take those comments too well. The That ‘70s Show actor pens clarification with his beliefs that ignoring the use of AI would be “catastrophic.”

The 2023 WGA Writers Strike helped bring to light how AI could pose a threat to the film industry if screenwriters were replaced by artificial intelligence software. Even Hollywood actors are afraid of being digitally replicated with AI, while there have been issues of voice actors having their voices misused. 

Ashton Kutcher, however, sees promise in the advanced technology to the chagrin of social media users. After facing backlash for his pro-AI comments, he decided to pen some clarification to his controversial statements.

The Start of Ashton Kutcher’s Viral AI Comments

While speaking with former Google CEO Eric Schmidt at Los Angeles’ Berggruen Salon, Variety reported that Ashton Kutcher sees OpenAI’s video tool, Sora, having a great impact on the future of filmmaking. He liked how the software could create short realistic videos that he felt would have great use in a movie or TV show. However, the What Happens in Vegas actor got backlash when he expressed this particular opinion on AI being cost-effective for the film industry:

Many people on X (formerly known as Twitter) interpreted Ashton Kutcher’s comments as him encouraging jobs to be replaced by the advancements of AI technology. Here are some examples of the negative responses the former sitcom actor received:

Ashton Kutcher’s Responses to the Backlash

Ashton Kutcher must have seen the backlash to his controversial AI comments as he took to X to provide some further clarification. According to the Two and a Half Men actor’s tweet, he described why ignoring the use of AI would be “catastrophic”:

Based on Ashton Kutcher’s comments, it looks like he’s not giving a black-and-white answer on his feelings about AI. He appears to be aware that there could be big changes in the film industry once studios make use of the technology. 

But as the Jobs actor said, the film industry has constantly been growing as many jobs throughout history have been replaced by technological advancements. And like what Disney CEO Bob Iger said about AI, the new technology would be used for the purpose of better storytelling compared to anything unsettling. 

Many social media users weren’t happy when Ashton Kutcher got candid about the benefits AI could bring to the film industry. Nonetheless, he clarified that AI’s existence is not going anywhere and that this is just another advancement towards a growing business. When That ‘90s Show premiered to Netflix subscribers in January 2023, it was packed with That ‘70s Show alums beyond Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp reprising Red and Kitty Foreman, respectively, as series regulars. This included Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis cameoing at the end of the first episode, as Michael Kelso and Jackie Burkhart got back together and were revealed as the parents of Mace Coronel’s Jay. Alas, Kunis has said it’s unlikely she and Kutcher will appear on That ‘90s Show again, but word’s come in Don Stark, one of of their fellow That ‘70s Show co-stars, is going to get way more screen time in Season 2.

We’re Getting A Lot More Of Don Stark As Bob Pinciotti

After guest-starring in one episode of That ‘90s Show Season 1, Stark, who plays Bob Pinciotti, is set to have a “heavy recurring role” in Season 2, per Deadline. Bob is, of course, the father of Laura Prepon’s Donna, which, like Red, also makes him the grandfather Donna and Eric Foreman’s daughter Leia, played by Callie Haverda. According to the outlet, Bob will return to town to reconnect with Kitty and Red, though it’s unclear if that means he’s moving back to Point Place or just around for an extended stay. Stark was on That ‘70s Show’s main cast for the entirety of its run, and his other credits include Star Trek: First Contact, Spider-Man: The Animated Series and John Carter.

It’s also worth noting that when it comes to the actors who made up the younger cast of That ‘70s Show, Prepon is reportedly the only one of them who will appear in That ‘90s Show Season 2. Meaning, in addition to Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis’ absence, we also shouldn’t expect to see Topher Grace and Wilmer Valderrama back respectively as Eric and Fez. Then there’s Danny Masterson, who didn’t appear in Season 1 and won’t ever reprise Hyde since he’s been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

How Bob Was Used In That ’90s Show Season 1

Don Stark’s sole appearance in That ‘90s Show Season 1 was in the episode “The Birthday Girl,” when he returned to Point Place to celebrate Leia’s 15th birthday after having moved to Florida. Bob gave his granddaughter a karaoke machine, so Red and Kitty tried to one-up him during the party. Despite the brief rivalry, Bob was his normal jovial self with his fellow grandparents, even bringing them a bag of Florida oranges… which he used as a pillow on the flight to Wisconsin, but hey, it’s the thought that counts.

Hopefully with Bob confirmed for more episode in That ‘90s Show Season 2, that’ll mean we’ll see him share screen time with Donna again, as Laura Prepon was absent from “My Birthday Girl.” In addition to these two, the Netflix show’s sophomore season will also feature the return of Seth Green’s character Mitch Miller, who recurred in That ‘70s Show Seasons 5 and 6 as an annoying classmate of the gang’s.

That ‘90s Show made a serious splash amongst Netflix subscribers when it premiered on the platform in 2023. So it wasn’t all that surprising when the streamer opted to renew the That ‘70s Show spinoff for a second season, which is set to air later this year. Details on the next adventures for Point Place’s latest set of eclectic teens are scarce at the moment. However, it now seems we have confirmation from Mila Kunis that she and Ashton Kutcher won’t be returning to the show following their guest spots in Season 1. On the bright side though, another great OG guest star is set to pop up again.

Why Mila Kunis And Ashton Kutcher Likely Won’t Return To That ‘90s Show

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, who are married in real life, reprised their roles as Michael Kelso and Jackie Burkhart, respectively, during the pilot episode of ‘90s Show. It’s revealed that the two are about to get married (again) and are also parents. While they only appeared briefly, their scene was easily one of the most-talked about moments of the episode. So it was understandable that when ET caught up with Kunis at PaleyFest, the outlet asked her about possibly popping up on the sitcom again with her hubby. When turning down the notion, the actress provided the following explanation: 

Mace Coronel’s Jay Kelso – the son of Jackie and Michael – serves as one of the main characters on the show. Like his father, he has a tendency to be flirty, but he also has a somewhat earnest side. Based on the sentiments she shared above, the Bad Moms alum seems to be pleased to hand over the reins to Coronel and step away from her role. The notion of Jackie and Michael not appearing again may be disappointing to some, but the logic is understandable. 

Don’t think this decision means Mila Kunis has no sort of affection for this small-screen franchise, though. Ashton Kutcher actually revealed that fans can thank Kunis for making their cameos happen. Amid the show’s release, Kutcher revealed that his wife opined that they should reprise their roles because they owe their careers to That ‘70s Show. You have to appreciate that sentimentality. And, on the flip side, you also have to love that another series alum is pumped about appearing on the sequel series.

Which Classic ‘70s Show Alum Is Returning For The Netflix Show?

So far a number of ‘70s Show veterans have reunited with Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith on Netflix’s spinoff. Topher Grace and Laura Prepon returned as Eric Forman and now wife, Donna (formerly Pinciotti) and Wilmer Valderrama reprised his role as Fez. Also re-entering the fold were Don Stark (Bob Pinciotti), Jim Rash (Fenton) and Tommy Chong (Leo Chingkwake). Now, Seth Green is set to return in the role of Mitch Miller, as the star himself revealed that while speaking to ET alongside Family Guy co-star Mila Kunis:

The antagonistic Mitch Miller appeared several times throughout the original show’s fifth and sixth seasons. A smarmy classmate of the OG gang, he got on their bad sides on a couple of occasions and even nearly came to blows with Eric after he embarrassed Donna. Seth Green didn’t reveal how Mitch factors into ‘90s Show, but I’m curious to see how it plays out and am pumped that Green is excited to make multiple appearances on the series.

It’s clear that the producers are definitely looking to maintain continuity between both of the franchise’s shows and, as long as said cameos remain organic (and funny), I’m here for them. Let’s hope Seth Green delivers a memorable return as Mitch, and keep your fingers crossed that Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher surprise us with another visit from Jackie and Kelso.

The career of Brooklyn Decker started off with a huge splash, as both Sports Illustrated and Victoria’s Secret employed the future actor as a star model. Eventually, playing a lead in the Adam Sandler film Just Go with It put Decker on the map; which led to a pretty sweet long term gig as one of the stars of Netflix’s Grace and Frankie.

Lost star and vampire extraordinaire Ian Somerhalder practiced looking ridiculously good looking in the modeling world, before parlaying it into roles that headed up projects like The CW’s The Vampire Diaries. Long before Tyra Banks was trying to help find America’s Next Top Model, she was practically living her life under that very title. Even before teaming up with a “spirited” Patrick Swayze in the 1990 romantic supernatural thriller, Ghost, Whoopi Goldberg knew a thing or two about the dead. The future EGOT winner recalled to David Letterman on Late Night how she used to work in a mortuary putting makeup on corpses and styling their hair.

Matthew McConaughey (Golf Course Armadillo Hunter)

Matthew McConaughey broke through in the industry with his unforgettable performance in Dazed and Confused in 1994. Earlier than that (as he revealed to GQ), the Academy Award-winning Texas native worked at Oak Forest Country Club initially to just rake the golf course sand traps, until he was asked to also help get rid of an armadillo infestation. Christopher Walken (Lion Tamer)

Did you ever notice how often Christopher Walken has played an animal — such in 2016’s astonishing The Jungle Book remake as King Louie or in the 1998 animated adventure, Antz? Well, as the Oscar-winner revealed to Vanity Fair, he actually has a unique connection with animals, having gained some experience with lion taming while working at a traveling circus.

Simu Liu (Birthday Party Spider-Man)

When Simu Liu led the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings cast in the title role, technically, that was not his first time playing a Marvel Comics character. While on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Chinese-Canadian actor shared that he used to dress up as Spider-Man and entertain children at birthday parties.

Jennifer Lopez (Law Office Tax Return Filer)

Most people know that one of Jennifer Lopez’s earliest jobs before becoming “Jenny from the Block” was dancing with the Fly Girls on In Living Color. Yet, the Bronx Times revealed that, before even then, she spent her Saturdays at the Thomas Lavin Law Office filing tax returns.

Margot Robbie (Sandwich Artist)

From the way Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn speaks so passionately about a certain breakfast item in 2020’s Birds of Prey, you might think the Australian actor knows a thing or two about making sandwiches, and you would be correct. The Academy Award nominee spoke to Sean Evans on Hot Ones about her time as a “sandwich artist” at Subway, where she actually invented a few delicious concoctions of her own.

Terry Crews (Courtroom Sketch Artist)

A lesser-known fact about Terry Crews is that he is an exceptional drawer and even showed some of the best examples from his portfolio on Jimmy Kimmel Live. During that same visit, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast member and America’s Got Talent host recalled how he put that talent to great use by working for a television station sketching scenes from local trials in his hometown of Flint, Michigan.

Megan Fox (Smoothie Shop Banana Mascot)

One time when Megan Fox appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actor fell prey to the host’s recurring “jump scare” gag, courtesy of a person dressed as up as a banana. The costume choice was in reference to the Transformers movies star’s first job at a smoothie shop, for which she would, sometimes, have to dress as the yellow fruit to promote the business.

Hugh Jackman (Clown)

While known best for playing very intimidating characters like Wolverine in the X-Men movies, Hugh Jackman is known to be a very funny and charming presence offscreen. It makes sense when you discover the Australian actor used to work as a clown, but would reveal to Howard Stern that his talents were limited to juggling and found entertaining children above three years old quite difficult.

Eva Mendes (Hot Dog On A Stick Vendor)

Fun fact: one of Eva Mendes’ earliest show business gigs was appearing in Will Smith’s 1998 “Miami” video before reuniting with him in Hitch seven years later. Before then, she made dough working at a “hot dog on a stick place,” which she revealed to Australia’s Will & Woody radio show (via Daily Mail) that she was actually fired from for giving an inappropriate Secret Santa gift to a coworker.

Sylvester Stallone (Girls Boarding School Dorm Bouncer)

Even if Sylvester Stallone had not written one of the best sports movies ever, 1976’s Rocky, he could have landed the title role of the aspiring boxer by his physicality alone. According to a profile by People, his jacked frame came in handy when he was 18 and started working at a Swiss boarding school to both teach gym and keep unwanted guests out of the girls dorms.

Wanda Sykes (NSA)

As one of the funniest people of her generation — and the star of one of Paramount+’s best stand-up comedy specials — it may come as a surprise to learn that Wanda Sykes used to work for an organization as serious as the National Security Agency. However, as she explained on The Rich Eisen Show, her job did not involve covert operations or filing classified material, but “buying stuff” for the office, mostly.

Chris Pratt (Coupon Salesperson) 

Before joining an insane amount of franchises (including the MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies to the Jurassic World trilogy), Chris Pratt had humble beginnings as a supporting character on hit TV shows Everwood and Parks and Recreation. However, his true beginnings were even humbler, having revealed during an appearance on Conan that he once sold coupons door-to-door and did well enough to manage his own office of salespeople.

Taylor Swift (Praying Mantis Exterminator)

Years before taking on the world as a hit singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift grew up on a Christmas tree farm where everyone in her family was given a different task. As she told Esquire, the star of the sensational “Eras Tour” had the job “picking praying-mantis pods off of the trees” so that customers would not have an invasion of multi-legged uninvited guests.

Brad Pitt (Chicken Restaurant Mascot)

With how many intimidating roles Brad Pitt has played, from Fight Club’s Tyler Durden to Cliff Booth in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the last thing anyone would think to call the actor is “a chicken.” Yet, you would not have been wrong if, decades ago, you spotted him when he made a living dressed as the mascot for California chicken restaurant El Pollo Loco, as he recalled on The Ellen Show in 2019.

Cindy Crawford (Corn Shucker)

One of the most famous models of all time, Cindy Crawford, first took on that profession in Chicago when she was 17, at a rate of $1,000 per day. A profile for Town & Country mentions that the modeling gig “sure beat shucking corn for $4 an hour,” which is something she did for a summer when she was younger.

Helen Mirren (Amusement Park Blagger)

Academy Award winner Helen Mirren technically got her start as an actor by participating in the National Youth Theatre before she was invited into the Royal Shakespeare Company, but first started honing her performance skills as a “blagger” for a London amusement park. While appearing on Mark Maron’s WTF Podcast, she defined “blagging” as shouting “something incomprehensible out to someone just to get their attention.”

Taraji P. Henson (Pentagon Secretary/Tina Turner Cover Singer)

Some of Taraji P. Henson’s most famous roles, such as Shug in Hustle & Flow and Cookie (a notable TV divorcée) on Empire, are linked to the music industry — a fact that is made even more interesting when you discover she used to work on a Potomac River cruise ship singing Tina Turner covers. Per Vanity Fair, at that same time, the future Academy Award nominee’s day job was at the Pentagon as a secretary.

Steve Buscemi (Firefighter)

While not exactly a “weird” job, it is intriguing to learn that Steve Buscemi used to work as a New York firefighter before landing roles like Mr. Pink in Reservoir Dogs. He would later revisit this time in his both onscreen (in The King of Staten Island) and in real life when — per The Independent — he volunteered to help his old company, Engine 55, search for survivors of the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001.

Ken Jeong (Doctor)

After starring in 2009’s The Hangover cast and the Community cast made him a star, Ken Jeong led his own sitcom called Dr. Ken. The short-lived ABC comedy was actually based on the comedian’s previous career as an internal medicine specialist, during which he pursued comedy merely to “let off some steam,” as he shared to NPR.

Ashton Kutcher (Cereal Factory Sweeper)

Before hitting it big as Michael Kelso in the That ‘70s Show cast and, later, making innovations in the tech industry, Ashton Kutcher got his start in the cereal industry. To be more precise, as he recalled on Hot Ones, the actor swept the floors of loose Cheerios shavings at a General Mills factory.

As a chart-topping Grammy nominee and a non-actor who nailed her SNL hosting gig, Halsey is a person who boasts many skills but has only demonstrated a few to the public, as it turns out. She revealed in a tweet that, when she was still “Ashley Frangipane,” she worked “loads” of different jobs, but the one that caught our eye was taking “license photos at the DMV.”

Zayn Malik (Boxer)

While he did not actually make a living doing this, before competing on The X Factor and joining One Direction made Zayn Malik a star, he trained in boxing in his mid-to-late teens. In 2013, he told Daily Star (via Digital Spy) that he aspired to pursue the sport full-time at some point.

Jennifer Aniston (Bike Messenger)

As part of the Friends cast, Jennifer Aniston became one of the highest-paid actors of her time, but in her earlier years, did several odd jobs for her mother’s advertising firm. One of them, as she shared on The Tonight Show, was being a bike messenger “for a day” that she admits she decided to finish out by taking a cab for final delivery.

George Clooney (Insurance Salesman)

Despite technically growing up in a show business family (his father, Nick Clooney, is a former TV personality, and his aunt, Rosemary, acted), it took time for George Clooney to find fame of his own. According to The Standard, the Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker worked various low-paying jobs early on — one of which was going door-to-door, selling insurance.

Jon Hamm (Adult Film Set Dresser)

Very few A-listers would be willing to admit they worked in the adult film industry, but Jon Hamm had no problem talking to Howard Stern about it. For $100 a day, the Emmy-winning Mad Men cast member worked as a set dresser for, as he described them, “Skinemax movies.”

Amy Adams (Hooters Server)

Many people might say that they first saw Amy Adams when she appeared on The Office in its first season, but others might be able to claim she served them at Hooters. The Academy Award nominee told Entertainment Tonight that the restaurant chain gig was a “great way” to make ends meet during college before she found success as an actor.

Chris Hemsworth (Human Milk Pump Cleaner)

During a game of “True Confessions” with Kumail Nanjiani and host Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, MCU star Chris Hemsworth’s potentially false personal fact stated that he used to clean and repair human milk pumps for pharmacies to rent when he was 14. It turned out to be the truth.

Danny DeVito (Morgue Hairdresser)

An artist known for his morbid sense of humor — as he has demonstrated by his crazy moments as Frank Reynolds on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and by helming movies like Duplex and Death to Smoochy — is Danny DeVito. Perhaps he got it from the several times he worked as a hairdresser for female corpses — a story he shared on The Always Sunny Podcast (via Unilad).

Channing Tatum (Exotic Dancer)

If you ever wondered how Channing Tatum learned to dance the way he does in 2012’s Magic Mike, according to an interview with Flicks and Bits, the drama was inspired by his own life before acting. In 2015, the actor recalled to Howard Stern how he started his brief exotic dancing career when he was 19 after dropping out of college.

Miley Cyrus (Undergarment Collector)

Miley Cyrus is one of the few examples on our list who actually did come from a show business family, but having a rock star like Billy Ray Cyrus as her dad also led to her first odd job. The former Hannah Montana star told Rolling Stone that, when she was much younger, her father used to pay her $10 for picking up women's undergarments that had been thrown on stage during his concerts.

Some of these jobs would make us thankful to eventually be an actor or singer if we were in any of these celebrity’s shoes. However, others sound like an interesting way to make a living.

Jennifer Lopez has been married four times, including twice to fellow celebrities. The Latin superstar married another superstar, Marc Anthony in 2004, after her engagement to Ben Affleck ended. Lopez has twins with Anthony, and the two divorced in 2014. “Bennifer” fans rejoiced when they rekindled their flame in 2021 and finally married in 2022, twenty years after they first dated. There is no more famous Hollywood bride than the great Elizabeth Taylor. The global superstar was married seven times in her life, including twice to actor Richard Burton. Before marrying Burton, she was wed to singer (and father of Carrie Fisher), Eddie Fisher. Her first marriage was to hotelier Conrad Hilton, Jr. and later in life, she married Senator John Warner.

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise’s marriage to Katie Holmes is his most infamous relationship, but before Holmes, the Mission: Impossible star was hitched to Nicole Kidman, after they starred together in Days of Thunder. Tom Cruise’s first wife was Bosch star Mimi Rogers, whom he married in 1987 and divorced in 1990.

Two of the biggest superhero movie stars, Black Widow’s Scarlett Johansson, and Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds were married from 2008 until 2011. When they split, Johansson married French ad exec Romain Dauriac, before divorcing in 2017. In 2021 Johansson married SNL star Colin Jost, whom she has one child with.

Nicole Kidman was married to Tom Cruise from 1990-2001. The two have two adopted children together. After her breakup with Cruise, Kidman dated Lenny Kravitz and was engaged for a short time to the singer. “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is one of the most enduring Christmas songs of all time, but sadly both of Mariah Carey's marriages to celebrities have been less so. Her first marriage, to music business tycoon Tommy Mottola, lasted five years, from ‘93 to ‘98. She walked down the aisle with America’s Got Talent star Nick Cannon in 2008, but after eight years and two kids (twins), the couple walked away from each other in 2016.

Brad Pitt

It’s appropriate that one of the biggest stars on the planet, Brad Pitt, would also be in two of the most high-profile marriages of all time. Pitt married America’s sweetheart, Friends star Jennifer Aniston, in 2000. Their breakup in 2005 amidst Pitt’s rumored relationship with Angelina Jolie was one of the most widely covered stories in the tabloids of all time. Pitt married Jolie in 2014 after years of dating, but it too ended in divorce, in 2019.

Frank Sinatra

NBC’s The Voice is not only responsible for launching the careers of singers like Morgan Wallen and Melanie Martinez but also for bringing together two of the coaches, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Moore married Bruce Willis in 1987 and the couple had three children together, including Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor Rumer Willis. After Moore and Willis' amicable divorce in 2000, Moore eventually started dating Ashton Kutcher, who is 16 years younger than her. The two were married for eight years before splitting in 2013.

There are few stars bigger, and with a more enduring legacy, than the legendary Marilyn Monroe. Nicolas Cage married Patricia Arquette in 1995 as both were on career hot streaks. The marriage lasted six years, and the couple broke up in 2001. One year later, Cage married his second famous person, the late Lisa Marie Presley. Cage and Presley’s marriage would be incredibly short-lived, filing for divorce just 107 days later, which was finalized in 2004.

Before Lisa Marie tragically died in 2023 at the young age of 54, she was famously married four times, including two very highly publicized marriages to famous men. Her first marriage to Danny Keough lasted six years. Her second marriage, to the King Of Pop himself, Michael Jackson, lasted less than two. Still, she went on to an even shorter marriage to actor Nicolas Cage, which lasted less than four months before they filed for divorce in 2002.

Jennifer Aniston became one of the biggest stars in television history when she starred in Friends. That stardom led to a very high-profile marriage with Brad Pitt in 2000. Aniston and Pitt’s divorce in 2005 was tabloid fodder for months (and even years), but the actress eventually found her way back to marriage with another actor, Justin Theroux, whom she married in 2015. The two split in 2017, but have remained friends.

Melanie Griffith is Hollywood royalty as the daughter of The Birds star Tippi Hedron. She married her first husband Don Johnson before either was famous, in 1976, though the marriage would last less than a year. The two would reconnect years later and marry again in 1989. In Between, she was married to Breaking Bad actor Steven Bauer. Johnson and Griffith would divorce in 1996 and Griffith married Antonio Banderas later that same year. Eddie Fisher’s first marriage, to actress Debbie Reynolds, produced his most famous child, Carrie Fisher. Ali MacGraw was a budding star when she married notorious producer movie Robert Evans, who was played by Matthew Goode in The Offer. As shown in that show, that marriage broke up when she left him for Steve McQueen. She and McQueen married in 1973 but divorced in 1978. She hasn’t married since but has been in some high-profile relationships.

Will Arnett

Before Will Arnett became a household name in Hollywood, he had a truly whirlwind romance with actor Penelope Ann Miller. They started dating, got married, and then divorced within about three months in late 1994 and early 1995. His next marriage to a famous person lasted much longer when he married Amy Poehler in 2003. That marriage lasted until 2012.

Uma Thurman 

Uma Thurman burst onto the Hollywood scene in the early 1990s and at just 20 years old, she married fellow actor Gary Oldman. That marriage fell apart after just two years and Thurman didn’t marry again until 1998 when she walked down the aisle with Ethan Hawke, whom she met on the set of Gattaca. Thurman and Hawke have two kids together but split in 2003 before finalizing their divorce in 2005.

The original “Bennifer” might have been Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, but Bennifer 2.0 was in full swing when Affleck and Jennifer Garner got married in 2005. Their marriage produced three children and while they divorced in 2017, the two have remained very close. Before Affleck, Garner was married to Party of Five star Scott Foley for five years.

While some Hollywood marriages do indeed last the test of time, some simply do not. Many of the stars on this list have had long marriages to famous people, though most have not. Still, it’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, as they say.

Danny Masterson was retried for rape earlier this year and was ultimately found guilty of raping two women. As a result, Masterson was later sentenced to 30 years in prison. In the aftermath of the verdict, it was revealed that several of the That ‘70s Show alum’s colleagues wrote character letters on Masterson’s behalf. Among them were married couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, who faced significant backlash for their actions. The two have mostly remained silent over the past few months but, in honor of Thanksgiving, Kutcher shared a message, in which he discussed what he’s “thankful for” this holiday season. And his sentiments seemed to correlate with the flak he took for his letter. 

It was on X (formerly known as Twitter) that Ashton Kutcher shared his holiday-oriented comments. The 45-year-old father of two named life, health and friendship as a few of the elements in his life that he’s most grateful to have. Kutcher also went on to say that he’s thankful for two particular words that are part of the English language as well as a few other concepts. And one can’t help but get the feeling that he’s alluding to the situation that went down with his longtime co-star: 

While Danny Masterson is not mentioned anywhere in the message, the sentiments shared near the end could be applied to the situation involving the character letters. The Your Place or Mine actor seemed to indicate through his post that he’s thankful for having the ability to speak out and listen to others when it’s warranted.

It was reported in early September that Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis (and co-stars Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith) had written letters that were submitted to the judge presiding over the rape retrial in the lead-up to the verdict. When writing about his former co-star, Kutcher reportedly said he was a “role model” when they worked together, while Kunis referred to his “exceptional character.” When Kunis and Kutcher later broke their silence on the matter, they apologized and explained that Danny Masterson’s family reached out and asked them to pen the messages. While the pair aimed to write about the Masterson they knew years ago, they said they were aware of the “pain” their letters had caused and stressed that they support victims.

The two continued to receive backlash following the apology video, which at least one PR expert found to be ineffective. As a result of the situation, the Guess Who star also resigned from his post as the chairman of Thorn. The aim of the organization’s leads is to combat human trafficking and prevent the exploitation of children. 

All the while, Danny Masterson remains in police custody and, since his sentencing, he’s worked out arrangements with his estranged wife, Bijou Phillips. After Masterson was sentenced, Phillips filed to divorce him after nearly 12 years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The Men at Work actor also agreed to give Phillips full custody of their 9-year-old daughter, Fianna. 

It seems that Ashton Kutcher, for his part, is now looking to move past the drama surrounding his former on-screen partner. Time will tell how Kutcher – as well as Mila Kunis – navigate their lives from a professional perspective as time goes on. But at present, it sounds like Kutcher is just thankful for what he currently has in his life.

The rape trial of embattled actor Danny Masterson was filled with a considerable amount of drama, and that’s seemingly carried over into the aftermath of his guilty verdict and sentencing. After Masterson was given 30 years to life in prison for raping two women, it was revealed that former co-stars, including Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, wrote character letters on his behalf. The celebrity couple ultimately received backlash, and that ensued after Kunis and Kutcher broke their silence on the matter via an apology video. Now, a PR expert is weighing in on why that clip ultimately proved to be ineffective.

Celebrity apologies are not uncommon, as there have been rare instances in which major Hollywood stars issued statements as a way to address certain actions on their part. Many of those are handled by a public relations team, and veteran crisis rep Molly McPherson is familiar with those kinds of statements. McPherson recently analyzed the video that was put out by the That ‘70s Show alums, and she believes it falls short in one key regard. In her eyes, it lacks any sense of responsibility on the two stars’ part: 

In their video, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher explained that Danny Masterson’s family reached out to them months ago, asking if they’d write the letters. Kutcher, who referred to Masterson as a “positive influence” in his statement, said the letters were meant to “represent the person that we knew for 25 years.” Kunis later added that she and her spouse “support victims” and that their messages “were not written to question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity of the jury’s ruling.” The clip ultimately closed out with Kutcher saying that they never meant to “retraumatize” those impacted by their co-star’s reported actions and apologized if that had taken place. 

Many social media commentators have weighed in on the apology at this point, making note of several aspects. Aside from questioning the wood-paneled background, some have postulated that the two appear uncomfortable in the footage. Molly McPherson, in her email to Insider, believes there’s a specific reason for that: 

As previously alluded to, That ‘70s Show’s Michael Kelso and Jackie Burkhart actors weren’t the only two series alums to write letters on their colleague’s behalf. Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp – who played Red and Kitty Forman, respectively – also spoke to the convicted actor’s character. At this point, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are still dealing with the fallout, which has seen Kutcher resign as the chairman of his anti-sex abuse organization, Thorn.

Since confirming his decision to step down from that position, neither the Your Place or Mine star nor his wife have made any further comment on the letters or Danny Masterson’s situation. Whether the couple choose to speak out again or take any further action remains to be seen.

Following news that That ‘70s Show star Danny Masterson was sentenced to 30 years in prison for raping two women last week, news broke that his former co-stars, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, had written character statements in support of Masterston prior to the ruling. With the couple facing backlash for their decision to take part in his trial, Kutcher has now made the decision to resign from his role as Board Chair for the anti-sex abuse organization Thorn, which he co-founded with Demi Moore back in 2012. 

Kutcher decided to resign following it becoming known that he, Mila Kunis, and reportedly other That ‘70s Show stars penned character statements during Masterson’s trial, on his behalf. He addressed the organization’s board with a statement, which was published by Thorn. He wrote, in part: 

Thorn categorizes itself as “a leader in the child safety ecosystem” that is proactive in defending children from sexual abuse. The organization has worked with the tech industry to create and implement prevention tools and resources to protect children who may be targeted. Kutcher continued with these words: 

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis worked closely with Danny Masterson on That ‘70s Show for eight years. Masterson was first accused of sexual assault in 2017 when at least four women came forward with allegations of rape between 2001 and 2003, which was when the actor was on the hit sitcom. The women went on to file a suit against him and the Church of Scientology (of which he is a member) in 2019 for purported harassment and stalking in connection to their rape claims.

In the character statement from Kutcher, the actor reportedly called Masterson “an extraordinarily honest and intentional human being” who had been a “positive influence" on him. Kunis wrote “Danny has proven to be an amazing friend, confidant, and, above all, an outstanding older brother figure to me” within her letter. 

Masterson was formally charged in 2020 before he pleaded not guilty in 2021. In late 2022, a trial began that ultimately was declared a mistrial due to a hung jury. Masterston was back on trial in April 2023 which resulted in a guilty verdict, and his current sentencing of 30 years in prison. 

Kutcher’s letter continued to apologize for the hurt his character statement may have caused, and he explained:

Kutcher’s decision to step down from his role at Thorn comes after he and Mila Kunis broke their silence about writing the character letters last week. The couple shared an understanding of the “pain” their letters caused, and emphasized their support for victims and their commitment to “continue to do so in the future.” 

As Kutcher steps down in his position from Thorn, the organization shared it would not be where it is without his contributions for the “significant role in the impact” the anti-sex abuse organization has made. 

In August, actress Taryn Manning made headline waves upon sharing (and then deleting) a video discussing her ongoing affair with a married man, complete with details about having “licked his butthole” on a near-nightly basis. She’s now back at the forefront of the social media spotlight for a variety of posts that respectively called out her former bosses at Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black and a Breaking Bad vet that she filmed a TV movie with, as well as married celebs Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.

For all seven seasons of Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black, Taryn Manning portrayed the role of the redneck meth head Tiffany “Pennsatucky” Doggett, who was arguably most memorable for her grody teeth. She was also at the heart of a very grody storyline involving James McMenamin’s CO Charlie Coates. The Season 3 episode “A Tittin’ and a Hairin’” featured two scenes of sexual assault, one flashback sequence in which a teenage Pennsatucky is raped, and a present-day scene in which an angered Coates rapes Manning’s character in one of the prison transport vans.

Taking to Instagram with a post that has since been deleted (via EW), Manning firmly blamed Netflix and the OITNB for allegedly not offering her any kind of guidance when it came to going on the press cycle and having to talk about Pennsatucky being victimized over and over again. Here’s how she put it:

It’s a struggle that more actresses than one might expect have had to deal with, especially in more recent years, with sexual assault being depicted on TV and in films with more candidness and realism, and also far more often than ever before. And Manning clearly feels as if she was underserved when it came to preparing her to deal with talking about such dark and traumatic subject matter in interviews. 

What’s more, Pennsatucky’s arc involving Coates became even more disturbing and seemingly exploitative in the next two seasons, as capped off by a sequence in which the CO watches the prisoner in the throes of masturbatory ecstasy, which she doesn’t seem to mind in the moment. One can imagine that having to answer questions about her character’s mindset during that stretch would also be a difficult situation.

Taryn Manning Claims She Was Abused By A Breaking Bad Vet

Though she deleted the comments involving Netflix, Orange is the New Black, and showrunner Jenji Kohan, Taryn Manning currently still has a video post up in which she first calls out Ashton Kutcher for a Punk’d red carpet segment that addressed her sexuality, and then namechecked her Hustle & Flow co-star Terrence Howard and Breaking Bad vet Raymond Cruz, with whom she co-starred in the 2015 Lifetime TV movie Cleveland Abduction, with Cruz portraying the notorious kidnapper Ariel Castro. In Manning’s words:

Beyond the vaguely positive push for her new song "How I'm Gonna Drive a Car," the rest of that message was quite dour.  Terrence Howard has a history with allegations of physical and emotional abuse. He was accused by his first two ex-wives, Lori McCommas and Michelle Ghent, of physical abuse, and he was reportedly arrested in 2001 for assault, harassment, and more. It’s unclear what incidents Manning may have been referring to in calling him out. 

Manning and Raymond Cruz co-starred in the Cleveland Abduction project back in 2015, with the latter portraying the notorious kidnapper Ariel Castro, and the actress playing victim Michelle Knight. Press interviews at the time did not indicate any abusive issues behind the scenes, but one has to wonder if anyone else will speak up to back up her claims. 

Taryn Manning Put Ashton Kutcher On Blast Over Punk'd Segment

In Manning's initial post slamming Orange Is the New Black, the actress also addressed her friendship with convicted rapist Danny Masterson, and defended the idea of still being able to look back at memories of their friendship in a happy way without the thought of the crimes he's currently serving jailtime for. At the same time, she also slammed Masterson's former That '70s Show co-stars Ahston Kutcher and Mila Kunis, who publicly apologized after they were outed as having shared positive character judgment letters for Masterson as related to the trial process. 

Taryn Manning posted a message on Instagram Stories that took further aim at the aforementioned couple, saying:

The Sons of Anarchy vet's "M.C." comment referred to Mila Kunis' ex Macaulay Culkin, whom she dated from around 2002 to 2011. It's unclear what went on during this alleged plane ride, however.

Whether or not anything further will come from all these claims remains to be seen. Manning previously apologized after publicising her relationship with a married man, but these comments are obviously on a completely different wavelength, and could potentially lead to some form of repurcussion if those accused speak out.

The most significant information that’s since cropped up is arguably the fact that Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and more of Masterson’s former co-stars wrote letters on his behalf. Now, Kunis and Kutcher have broken their silence on the matter.

The celebrity couple discussed the situation in a video that was posted to Kutcher’s Instagram account. The two spoke intermittently while explaining their decision to write letters on behalf of Danny Masterson. Ashton Kutcher started the clip off by acknowledging the “pain that has been caused” by their choice before providing further context:

Mila Kunis went on to state that she and her husband support victims of sexual assault. She later added that the documents they submitted were not intended to delegitimize any part of the legal process in their former co-star’s case:

In his letter, Michael Kelso actor Kutcher referred to his ex-That ‘70s Show and The Ranch co-star as “an extraordinarily honest and intentional human being” that had been a “positive influence" on him. Kutcher also acknowledged the charges and that the women are seeking justice but also hoped that his testimony would be considered. Jackie Burkhart actress Kunis, also said, “Danny has proven to be an amazing friend, confidant, and, above all, an outstanding older brother figure to me.”

Other responses came from fellow ‘70s Show veterans Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp, who played Red and Kitty Forman, respectively, on the classic sitcom and its Netflix sequel series, That ‘90s Show. Rupp referred to the Steven Hyde actor as a “respectful and kind” individual. She concluded the letter by sharing her thanks for “allowing me to tell you about the Danny Masterson that I love.” Masterson’s on-screen surrogate father figure, Smith, called him “a good friend” and later stated that “Danny treated all women on the show with respect, not only the women in the cast, but women on the crew as well.” He also called Masterson “a wonderful father to his daughter.”

As of right now, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are the only high-profile individuals to have spoken out about writing character letters. Time will tell if any others will choose to address the situation. 

Months after being found guilty of rape, former actor Danny Masterson was sentenced this past week. The judge ultimately sentenced him to 30 years in prison for raping two women. Amid this development and throughout the legal process, Masterson’s former That ‘70s Show co-stars have mostly remained mum on his situation. It would seem, however, that he did receive some support from a couple of the sitcom’s alums ahead of his sentencing. It would appear that Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis wrote letters on his behalf. 

News of the 47-year-old’s sentencing was reported by a number of sources, including ABC7 reporter Lisa Bartley. After she shared the news to X (formerly known as Twitter) this past Thursday, she provided an update. Bartley shared that she’d obtained letters that were sent to the presiding judge from the Men at Work alum’s loved ones. It was in that post that she revealed that his two fellow actors – who are married – wrote acknowledgements of their own: 

Knowledge on the specific content of the letters is scarce at this point. Per Good Morning America though (via Hello! Magazine), the pair of stars were complementary. Ashton Kutcher – who co-runs a foundation that combats child sex trafficking – allegedly referred to his former co-star as a “role model.” It’s reported that Mila Kunis made note of the actor’s “exceptional character” within her own remarks.

The married couple has a considerable amount of history with the embattled performer, mostly due to That ‘70s Show, which ran for eight years on Fox. Around a decade after the hit series’ conclusion, Ashton Kutcher reteamed with Danny Masterson for Netflix’s The Ranch. Masterson was ultimately fired from the show in 2017 due to the rape allegations he was faced with. Earlier this year, Kutcher addressed his colleague’s legal troubles during an interview with Esquire. The father of two maintained that he didn’t want to see Masterson “elude the law”  but hoped “for the truth to show he's innocent.”

Danny Masterson – a noted Scientologist – was accused of sexual assaulting multiple women between 2001 and 2003. At least four women came forward with the claims in 2017, and the trial (which saw the Church of Scientology get embroiled in the matter) ultimately began in the fall of 2022. However, due to a hung jury, Masterson’s case was declared a mistrial. The retrial began in the spring of 2023 and ended with the actor being found guilty of rape. Following his sentence, his lawyer, Shawn Holley, revealed that she’s “confident” the conviction will be overturned. She cites “significant evidentiary and constitutional issues” during the case as reasons for that thinking.

As of this writing, neither Ashton Kutcher or Mila Kunis have yet to publicly acknowledge these reported letters. The documents themselves have not been released to the general public in their entirety, at this point. For now, we can only wait and see if more information on the documents comes to the light.

What do you get when you put Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher in a movie together? A Netflix rom-com headlined by a dynamic duo. In Witherspoon's first streaming movie co-produced by her production company Hello Sunshine, Your Place or Mine is about best friends who decide to swap houses for a week. While the two stars of the movie have proven to be great real-life friends, “Boss” Witherspoon admits one problem she had with her co-star on-set and I can’t hold my giggles through this.

You and your friends may have a great thing going with each other, but there’s always that one annoying quality about them that’s hard to ignore. According to a BBC Sounds interview, Ashton Kutcher revealed what about him annoyed his “Boss” Reese Witherspoon on the set of Your Place or Mine:

Too many bathroom breaks, huh? Of all the things that can irritate you about a person, that little annoyance is actually pretty hilarious! I can just imagine the That 70’s Show actor raising his hand announcing to the set, “Ten-One!” I can also totally see Witherspoon getting light-heartedly fed up with his constant need to use the bathroom.

However, it doesn’t mean the actor wasn't taking his preparation on the set of Your Place or Mine lightly. In fact, Kutcher read more books than the Reese’s Book Club founder to get into character better. Since he plays a novelist in the Netflix rom-com, the movie’s director Aline Brosh McKenna gave the Just Married actor ten books to read. 

Reese Witherspoon took the shenanigans up a notch by revealing what else bothered her about her Your Place or Mine costar. Ashton Kutcher took liberties to provide a reasonable and, again, hysterical defense. The conversation went like this:

Witherspoon: I was going to say you farted a lot.

Kutcher: Well, that’s because I had to “Ten-Two.”

And yes, “Ten-Two,” as you can imagine is…the other one. The A Lot Like Love actor was embarrassed to tell anyone he had to “take a dump,” so he decided to hold it in a little longer. It didn’t mean that his flatulence on the set was hidden very well.

Another funny moment between the two was when the red carpet photos he took with Witherspoon came out and it looked like the What Happens in Vegas actor honestly didn’t know what to do with himself. His explanation was that he was overwhelmed with people at the Your Place or Mine premiere shouting at him about what to look at for 20 minutes. That’s understandable as it can be uncomfortable standing in place while cameras flash at you and you have to figure out how to stand.

After listening to the hilarious bantering of that particularly embarrassing Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon moment, now I know what a “Ten-One” and “Ten-Two” is. I also now know that when The Butterfly Effect actor needs to use the restroom, it’s best to let him go to avoid constant on-set farting.

Ashton Kutcher is known for quite a few things. He’s the mastermind behind the prank series Punk’d and a business and entrepreneur investing in companies as major as Skype, Foursquare and (previously) Uber. He’s known for projects like Two and a Half Men and for being part of the iconic cast of That Seventies Show, not to mention a cameo in the recent That ‘90s Show. Oh, and in his spare time last year, her ran the New York Marathon. He recently told the story of that venture, and it cracks me up. 

Speaking in a longer interview answering some of the Internet’s most asked questions about him, Ashton Kutcher talked about running the New York Marathon back in 2022. He wasn’t the only famous name to do so. Tike Barber, Ellie Kemper have run the NY version specifically, and there are plenty of other celebs (my fave may be Chip Gaines running with his toolbelt) who have tackled other marathons. In his Wired interview, I learned some facts, including how the marathon works with celebs to maintain their incognito status as their racing.

Well, sort of incognito status. His bib clearly read “Ashton.” In addition, Kutcher went on to reveal the NYPD felt he would need a security detail in such a large crowd of people. This is great in theory, but he told a funny story about what happened when he started running with the police. 

Marathon running isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s 26.2 miles in total and the New York Marathon – while not the wildest of all marathon courses – is known to have some difficulties with hills and bridges. Kutcher doesn’t mention this, but another thing the police officers may not have factored in was the That ‘70s Show actor’s speed. The actor notably crushed out the race and completed his miles in 3:54:01, which means he broke the four-hour barrier and averaged under nine minutes a miles. Anyway, at some point he looked up and --poof -- his detail was just gone. 

He'd said prior to the race his goal was to break four hours and he did it, also raising a slew of money for the charity Thorn. However, perhaps his security detail was not expecting it. Whatever happened, it seems they fell back or bailed out, leaving him a funny story to boot. Though Kutcher going on to become one of just a few celebrities to finish under the four-hour mark at the 2022 race is a story in and of itself.

That ‘90s Show – Netflix’s sequel series to the beloved That ‘70s Show – proved to be just the jolt of nostalgia that viewers were looking for. Though audiences seemed to connect with the new cast of characters, they were also delighted to see a number of familiar faces from the OG show pop up. Ashton Kutcher notably reprised his famous role of Michael Kelso for the pilot. He also appeared alongside his on-screen and real-life wife, Mila Kunis, who plays Jackie Burkhart. Ahead of the show’s debut, Kutcher spoke a bit about returning to the role and, more recently, he revealed that fans have Kunis to thank for him signing on to do that epic cameo. 

Before they appeared on the hit streaming show, it had been almost two decades since Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis had played these roles. Since ‘70s Show ended its eight-season run in 2006, the stars have gone on to do projects that are far different from the Fox comedy. So considering that he’s in a different place in his career right now, one can understand if Kutcher may have been hesitant to bring Kelso back. However, Kunis made a poignant appeal to him that essentially ensured his involvement: 

The statement that the 45-year-old shared with Esquire isn’t wrong. The classic show, which premiered in 1998, provided the pair with their breakthrough roles. From there, both were able to segue into other projects. The Kelso actor, in particular, starred in Dude, Where’s My Car?, The Butterfly Effect, Guess Who and more while still on the show. He’d even produce and star in MTV’s fan-favorite prank show, Punk’d. So with all of those accomplishments in mind, it’s only fitting that the star returned to the root of all that success.

On That ‘90s Show, Kelso and Jackie appear near the end of the first episode, during which it’s revealed that they’re the parents of Jay, a Point Place teen who befriends Leia Forman. The development is made humorous due to the fact that Leia’s grandfather – the gruff Red Forman – isn’t pleased that she’s gotten close with a member of the Kelso family. The interaction between Jackie and Michael is also too perfect, as the on and off lovers – who are slightly more mature – are still as funny as ever. 

Ashton Kutcher updated fans on That ‘90s Show months ago and, at that time, he discussed just how “nostalgic” it was to be on set. In another instance, Kutcher mentioned his former castmastes as part of the reason he decided to return. He also explained that it was somewhat awkward working with Mila Kunis. While he relishes any opportunity to act alongside her, Kutcher noted that this experience was different due how their personal relationship has changed since they were on the original series. I don’t know about all of you, but I couldn’t sense awkwardness, based on their pitch-perfect performances. 

Of course, now that the show has landed a Season 2 renewal from Netflix, one has to wonder if Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis might be open to reappearing at some point. Fans didn’t get to see their characters interact with Topher Grace’s Eric, Laura Prepon’s Donna or Wilmer Valderrama’s Fez. So the door is definitely open for a true-blue reunion between the group, though we’ll just have to wait and see if the producers actually make such plans. Here’s hoping Kunis (should she want to return) can convince Kutcher to sign on again should the opportunity present itself.

Life has a way of imitating art unexpectedly sometimes. Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis made all That 70s Show fans’ dreams come true when they started dating and got married. However, their relationship didn’t start romantic as the couple was just friends with benefits initially. Of course, they have admitted multiple times to the detached origins of their relationship, and have talked about filming competing movies about friends with benefits – Kunis in Friends with Benefits and Kutcher in No String Attached. Now, after being married for a few years, the Your Place or Mine star spoke about the irony of the married duo being similarly themed movies while experiencing the same situation.

The ironic scenario came up as the Dude, Where’s My Car? star reviewed his career-defining moments with Vanity Fair. As he watched a clip from the 2011 film No Strings Attached, Kutcher mentioned the quirky and interesting film script that drew him to the project. He also couldn’t help but look at the romantic comedy and think about his situation with his wife mirroring the film’s plotline. He said:

At the time they were working on their respective movies, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were just former co-workers from That 70s Show due who never had romantic feelings toward each other partially because of their age difference. Both similar-themed rom-coms were released in 2011 to commercial success and mixed response from critics. Kutcher starred opposite Oscar winner Natalie Portman, while Kunis co-starred with Justin Timberlake. 

Then a year after their respective friends with benefits-based movies were released, they reconnected at a house party the actor was throwing. The rest is history, as the couple eventually became more than just friends, and they ended up getting married and now have two kids. Recently, they played a married Jackie and Kelso in the Netflix sequel series That 90s Show, much to Kunis' chagrin, showing how much they've evolved since their first time on screen together. 

Kutcher faced the irony of his relationship again in his trip down memory lane. He conveniently watched a clip from the classic Fox sitcom featuring him and his wife as Kelso and Jackie. Looking at the interaction made him worry about how confused their kids will be when they are the right age to watch the teen sitcom. He wondered how the couple will differentiate “what was real and what wasn’t real” from the show. The Butterfly Effect star revealed he was “terrified” about the explanation they must give someday about That '70s Show, however, I'd be more worried about having to explain what friends with benefits are to kids if I were them.

What keeps him going through the work madness is a good cup of coffee, it seems. That's totally normal, given that many of us need that extra boost. However, Kutcher recently revealed an unexpectedly odd thing that he puts in his cup of joe instead of creamer, and I can’t stop thinking about it. 

During an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the That ‘70s Show alum and the titular host shared some of the things that they've been obsessed with as of late. Kutcher chose to reveal that he’s been loving replacing his creamer with another early-morning staple. He simply said:

This revelation was met with vocal surprise from both the audience and Clarkson herself. While orange juice is another great beverage to have in the wee hours of the morning, you'd think that combining it with coffee would completely ruin both beverages. However, the Jobs actor stood by his choice, explaining how a tiny bit of orange juice actually improves his morning brew. He explained:

This still strikes me as odd, but I guess it’s worth trying. There are always different coffee trends making the rounds, so maybe Ashton Kutcher is just ahead of the curve. After all, he is a businessman and entrepreneur in addition to being an actor, so he’s always forecasting trends and seeing what people are talking about. Maybe orange juice and coffee is the next big thing. This isn’t the first time Kutcher’s seemingly strange practices have attracted attention. He and his wife Mila Kunis, attracted a myriad of thoughts and opinions when they revealed that they don’t bathe their children every day. This statement has since been clarified, though it definitely sparked much debate.

The leading man's latest film, Your Place or Mine won’t require any coffee breaks for audiences, though. It is a fun, flirty romantic comedy that is very reminiscent of the ‘90s favorites that made both him and Reese Witherspoon stars. In the film, two lifelong friends decide to swap homes in order to open up different parts of their lives. They both soon realize, however, that what they were looking for may have been in front of them all along. It’s incredibly charming and might definitely go down easier than a mix of OJ and coffee.

Well, if you’ve been looking forward to seeing Reese Witherspoon star in yet another film that could one day land on the list of best romantic comedies, the past weekend was for you. The Oscar-winning actress joined with recent That ‘90s Show guest star, Ashton Kutcher, to bring everyone with a Netflix subscription the new rom-com Your Place Or Mine, and I was right there watching with millions of others over the weekend, as viewers have helped the movie dominate Netflix’s Top 10 movies list for several days now. 

Critics might be torn over whether or not the movie really works, but what’s more important to me is that the film brought up a lot of thoughts about the characters, the story and life in general as I watched. So, let’s get into them and see if you agree with me on some of the finer points of this rom-com!

This Movie Does NOT Start In 2003

Man, oh man! Right outta the gate I had questions, and it’s all because this movie opens by playing a beloved Gwen Stefani (featuring Akon) song, “The Sweet Escape.” I was grooving along and thinking this was a great start, until some titles pop up on screen to let us know that the year we’re beginning in… is 2003. I knew, immediately, that that was wrong, and a quick Google revealed that I was correct, because the hit didn’t come out until December of 2006. 

Yes, the lyrics of the tune sorta match the “we’ve been in love with each other for decades but didn’t tell the other” theme of the movie, but still. Did it have to be a full 20 years since Peter and Debbie first hooked up? 

The Idea That Neither Of These People Suspected The Other Might Be In Love With Them Is Already Crazy

You’re probably wondering why I feel this way, right? If you take the word of rom-coms, anyway, this kind of loony love misunderstanding (“He just wants to be friends!” “She’d never want me! I’m a mess!”) happens positively all the time. But, when you appear to spend your first waking hours every day on a phone call with your best bud of the opposite gender (even when you’re literally in bed with your girlfriend), how does it not occur to you that your “best friend” might also be in love with you, too?

Does Peter Do Everything In Six Month Intervals?

What’s the deal with this guy? He seems to get broken up with at the six month-mark every time. His consulting jobs appear to only last for six months. And his novel is published (I’ll get into that more later) six months after Debbie gives it to Theo. If this were a horror movie this six month thing would definitely play some creepy part in the proceedings.

“Bangs Are For An Emergency”? Is That How People See Bangs?

I’ve never had real bangs. You know, the kind you cut as opposed to just swooping a full lock of hair over, early-’90s style? So, I am no hair bang connoisseur, and when Debbie’s friend, Alicia, told her that “bangs are for an emergency” I had to wonder if that’s how people see the popular facial fringe. Also, what types of emergencies are we talking about here? Is it just for “I broke up with my boy/girlfriend” emergencies, or could bangs additionally help one with something like a “my dog is in the hospital” emergency? I kinda need to know now.

Is Debbie Really So Innocent That She Has No Clue What “Get Waxed” Means?

Come on, girl. Just stop. I know you’re a (potentially) over-protective mom now and have been for over a decade. But, you have to be aware enough about life in general to know that Alicia is talking about your hoo-ha and not your dumb eyebrows, which are fine! (Not that her lady parts aren't fine, but you get what I'm saying.)

Just In General, I Really Dislike The Idea That Women Need To “Spruce It Up” For Any Man

One last bit about Alicia’s advice to Debbie when they’re talking about her trip to New York to finish her degree. Why does Debbie, who looks great, have to “spruce it up” just so she can meet a “hottie” on her trip? How have we not gotten past this incredibly outdated idea that women need to look a very specific way to meet a man (ANY MAN!!), while men can walk around looking like the adult version of Dickensian street urchins and be desirable as all fuck? DO BETTER MOVIE.

Peter Sounds Like A Shitty Friend

But at least he’s self-aware? When Debbie tells him she can’t come to visit because her sitter fell through, he quickly volunteers and absolutely should have, considering all the things he lists that she’s done for him while he’s missed basically every important event in her life. Her being in love with him has to be the only reason she’s stuck by him, right?

But His Apartment Is Amazing

If you’re going to have a shitty friend, at least have a rich one who lets you stay in their apartment that must have cost many millions of dollars with an awesome view of the city.

I Knew Zoë Chao Would Be Awesome As A Fabulous Friend Almost Immediately

When I say “fabulous,” I don’t mean that Your Place Or Mine cast member Chao’s character, Minka, is a fabulous friend (though she does turn out to be pretty good at that), but that she’s a fabulously well-connected/rich/fun person who’s now befriended Debbie. And I knew Chao was going to rock it when she helped Debbie turn off Peter’s fancy sound system and instead of simply pointing his tablet at the receiver, pulled the fancy, funny move above. Well done!

But Also, Why Was She So Quick To Befriend Debbie?

My first thought is that she wanted to get to know her potential competition for Peter’s heart, but even when she found out that Debbie and Peter have secretly been in love for 20 years, she keeps helping Debbie out. Maybe it did start the way I assumed, and she just liked Debbie so much she couldn’t help but keep rooting for her. If that’s the case, I don’t mind it.

Why Is Steve Zahn In This Movie?

I love Steve Zahn, and he’s great as the goofy, singing neighbor who’s also been in love with Debbie for years. But, the movie really could have used him better. I would have loved to see him try to undermine Peter or do something other than show his butt crack and sing songs.

Peter Has Weird Habits And Bad Ideas

HE THREW AWAY A WHOLE, GIANT PAN OF PERFECTLY GOOD FOOD. Also, he sat on the bed to sleep that first night at Debbie’s place and carefully folded up his T-shirt…and then tossed it on the floor! Peter also thought it was cool to have Jack attempt to bribe his way into getting kids to like him, and let him try out for the hockey team without even vaguely running it by Debbie, along with other oddities and terrible plans. I think he needs therapy.

Debbie Would Clearly Be Better Off With Theo, But It Is What It Is

He’s probably not as rich as Peter, but he seems like a real decent adult who knows how to have mature conversations with people, and is also genuinely helpful. Clearly he’s the better romantic option, but I’m fine with these two dummies just finally getting together after two decades of “friendship.”

No Way In Hell Peter’s Book Got Published In Six Months

Much like I’m no expert on bangs, I’m also no expert on publishing, but guess what? There is no way in hell that Peter’s book, which Theo said “had promise,” could have been rewritten, edited, had cover art made and approved, and all the other things that need to be done for a full ass book to be published and then actually been published within a mere six months. NO. WAY.

You know, I did basically enjoy my time with Your Place Or Mine, as I found it to be a pleasant enough diversion from the trials of daily life, and my guess is that lots of other people feel the same.

The latest romantic comedy pairing to sweep us off our feet just in time for Valentine’s Day are Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher fof Netflix’s Your Place Or Mine. But the on-screen couple didn’t exactly sell their chemistry in real life when they posed for red carpet photos that the Internet found to be super awkward. (Even Kutcher's wife, Mila Kunis, called him out on it!) Following the photos going viral, the actor shared a very reasonable explanation for why he didn’t look the most comfortable during the photos. 

Ashton Kutcher was asked about the awkward red carpet photos while on the Chicks In The Office podcast and got honest about why he didn’t look like he was having the time of his life in those recent press photos alongside his co-star. He also set record straight on the state of his relationship with his co-star, Reese Witherspoon. In his words: 

As the star pointed out, a red carpet is not exactly the most calming setting in which to smile wide for a photo. Numerous photographers are essentially yelling your name to look one way all at the same time, and Ashton Kutcher can’t hear as well as he used to. So it was perhaps even more frustrating. As the actor continued: 

He also pointed out that if he was too cozy with the actress in the photos, he'd inevitably spark affair rumors, so there really was no winning there for him. Obviously, celebrities find themselves on red carpets all the time and often just have to deal with the chaotic atmosphere for a good photo, but the That '70s Show alum’s answer speaks to how odd it inherently is.  

Ashton Kutcher has most certainly been on a ton of red carpets throughout his career, but he has been greatly out of the groove in recent years. This is mostly due to a 2019 medical episode where he was diagnosed with a rare form of vasculitis and had to take a break to recover. The actor lost his vision, hearing and equilibrium and had to work for about a year to get back to working order. As the actor has recently shared, there was a time when he thought his acting career might be over, but he was able to overcome it and seems to be doing well now.

And despite those awkward red carpet photos, Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon really did get personal for Your Place Or Mine, by doing video chats with each other daily ahead of filming to prepare to play longtime and long-distance best friends. Your Place Or Mine, which has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences, is now streamable using a Netflix subscription. You can certainly decide for yourself if the latest romantic comedy pairing are cute together in the movie or have the energy present within those red carpet photos. 

Fans of Fox’s hit sitcom That ‘70s Show were reunited with the Point Place gang and met some new faces in Netflix’s sequel series That ‘90s Show. With the majority of the cast returning, whether it be just for a cameo or for the full season, the series hit people with some major nostalgia. One of the most anticipated, and for a while, unknown, returns was Ashton Kutcher as Michael Kelso. But to him, it was a no-brainer to return to his roots.

When the cast of a show or movie stays in touch after the project ends it goes to show just how close they got while filming, this seems to be true for the crew of That ‘70s Show. There was a Point Place reunion of sorts on Ashton Kutcher’s Netflix series The Ranch when Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith were both brought on for recurring roles. Now, following Kutcher's exciting cameo on the '70s Show spinoff, the Your Place or Mine cast member told Us Magazine the sweet reason why he decided to reprise Kelso for That ‘90s Show, and Smith and Rupp had something to do with it:

It’s definitely sweet that Ashton Kutcher wanted to be back with everyone when given the chance. It likely helped that he got to work with Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith on The Ranch again, which probably reminded him about all the good times he had on That ‘70s Show. The spinoff also allowed him to work with Mila Kunis again, which was likely less awkward this time this time around since they’re actually married. 

After That ‘90s Show was announced, it was hard to predict who would or wouldn’t return to Point Place, especially since a lot of the cast are busy with other projects. Kutcher updated fans on That ‘90s Show last summer after it was revealed he and Mila Kunis would be reprising their beloved roles as Kelso and Jackie. He was as excited as ever, mentioning that the two of them are only in the position they’re in because of the Fox hit. Even though it was only for one episode, it was better than nothing, and it felt like nothing had changed when Kelso came into the Formans’ kitchen yelling, “Burn!”

Meanwhile, fans will have more chances to see their Point Place favorites since That ‘90s Show scored an early renewal from Netflix. It’s unknown how much we’ll see the original gang in Season 2, but hopefully they will. In my opinion, it seems like they all had a blast reprising their roles, so it won’t be surprising if they want to do it again. Though fingers crossed they’re on screen more and interact with each other.

After Reese Witherspoon established herself as an actress, she branched out to numerous other roles, such as being a producer who adapts popular books and starting her own incredibly successful and respected book club. So it’s not exactly a stretch for Witherspoon to play a major book lover in her latest romantic comedy, Netflix’s Your Place Or Mine. However, it was her co-star, Ashton Kutcher, who actually read a ton of books in preparation for the role. 

When the co-stars spoke about Your Place Or Mine during the movie’s press conference, which CinemaBlend attended virtually, Ashton Kutcher revealed that he became a bookworm in a big way as a result of signing on to his first romantic comedy in 12 years after almost quitting acting. In Kutcher’s words: 

Kutcher is referring to Your Place Or Mine’s writer/director Aline Brosh McKenna, who famously penned beloved movies like The Devil Wears Prada and 27 Dresses. Since the actor’s latest role is someone who deeply loves reading, the filmmaker gave the actor a ton of books to read ahead of the role. When Witherspoon asked Kutcher which book was his favorite, Kutcher continued, saying this: 

The Your Place Or Mine writer/director also gave Reese Witherspoon books to read as well, but the actress had an unexpected response to the assignment. As the actress shared: 

The books Brosh McKenna gave Witherspoon were vintage. So while they were not read by a certified book lover, they did find a place on the movie’s set. It’s kind of funny that Kutcher, who shared he’s not a big fiction reader, really got into books for the movie, whilst Witherspoon had to make a solid excuse. I mean it’s fair, she clearly has a lot on her plate and is already rather quite well read. 

In the latest friends-to-lovers romantic comedy, Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon play longtime best friends who live on opposite sides of the United States, NYC and Los Angeles respectively, but keep in touch all the time over video. When Witherspoon’s character, Debbie, gets an opportunity in New York City, but her babysitter bails, Kutcher’s character, Peter, offers to watch her teen son in the City of Angels while she shacks up in his New York apartment for the week. 

During Debbie’s New York adventures, she stumbles on a hero of hers in the book publishing industry (played by Jesse Williams), whilst Peter enjoys quality time with her son in Los Angeles. As the two best friends hang around the other’s living space, they begin to realize that perhaps their relationship could be more. Your Place Or Mine can be streamed with a Netflix subscription on Friday, February 10. 

More so than with pretty much every other type of film, a great romantic comedy needs to have a strong cast (both the leads and supporting characters) with a lot of chemistry to make the story seem believable and work. The best romantic comedies of all time, like When Harry Met Sally, Pretty Woman, and The Princess Bride, all have that in common. It’s too early to say if the new Netflix movie, Your Place Or Mine, will find a spot on that list in the future, but the cast, led by Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher, could put it in the running.

In Your Place or Mine, Reese Witherspoon plays Debbie, a single mom who swaps houses with her longtime best friend, Peter (Ashton Kutcher) for a week as a nice sea change that also leads to some major discoveries about the man she’s known for so long.

Witherspoon is in a league of her own in Hollywood, having not only won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a Primetime Emmy, and scores of other accolades for performances in movies and shows like Walk the Line and Big Little Lies, but also as one of the Hollywood’s most prolific producers, having worked on book-to-movie adaptations like Where the Crawdad Sings and the upcoming Daisy Jones & the Six Amazon series. The ever-growing list of Witherspoon’s best movies includes something for everyone, with popular movies like Legally Blonde, Sing, and Wild appealing to multiple age groups. With multiple upcoming projects (both in front of and behind the camera), we haven’t seen the last of her yet. 

Ashton Kutcher (Peter)

Ashton Kutcher shows up in Your Place or Mine as Peter, Debbie’s long-time best friend, who couldn’t be any more unlike the single mother living on the opposite side of the country, or so he thinks.

Though this is his first romantic comedy in more than a decade, Kutcher appeared in his fair share of rom-coms in the early 2000s, including Just Married, My Boss’s Daughter, Guess Who, and What Happens in Vegas, to name a few. Over the course of the past decade or so, Kutcher has mostly worked in TV, appearing on shows like Two and a Half Men, The Ranch, and most recently, That ‘90s Show, reprising the role of Michael Kelso from the original That ‘70s Show. 

Jesse Williams (Theo) 

Next up is Jesse Williams, who appears as Theo, a book editor who catches Debbie’s eye while she’s trading places in New York City.

Longtime fans of Grey’s Anatomy (as well as Station 19) should instantly recognize Williams from his portrayal of Dr. Jackson Avery, a major part of the show’s cast dating back to the sixth season. Sticking with TV, Williams previously appeared alongside Witherspoon on the Hulu original series, Little Fires Everywhere, in 2020. His film appearances include movies like The Cabin in the Woods, Random Acts of Violence, Secret Headquarters, and multiple others dating back a decade-and-a-half.  Williams also portrayed one of the main characters in the 2018 PlayStation game, Detroit: Become Human. 

Steve Zahn (Zen)

Steven Zahn shows up as Zen, Debbie’s retired neighbor who has left his days in the tech industry behind to focus on putting his green thumb to use with landscaping.

For more than 30 years now, Zahn has remained an incredibly busy actor in film and TV, showing a wide range in the process. Whether it’s appearing in quintessential ‘90s classics like Reality Bites, That Thing You Do!, You’ve Got Mail, and Happy, Texas, Zahn was everywhere in the first decade of his career. He only got busier in subsequent years, landing roles in Riding in Cars with Boys, Shattered Glass, Sunshine Cleaning, and National Security, to name a few. More recently, he’s put on amazing performances in shows like The White Lotus (Season 1) and The Good Lord Bird, and in movies like Uncle Frank, and 8-Bit Christmas. 

Tig Notaro (Alicia)

Comedian Tig Notaro shows up as Alicia, Debbie’s best friend in Los Angeles.

Over the years, Notaro has gone from being one of the most underrated standup comedians in the industry to a talented actor with a long list of credits to her name. One of the biggest movies she’s been in at this point is Army of the Dead, Zack Snyder’s 2021 zombie movie in which she was digitally added to replace Chris D’Elia. Notaro has also appeared on shows like Star Trek: Discovery, One Mississippi (which she created), and multiple others. 

Zoë Chao (Minka)

Zoë Chao is another hilarious addition to the Your Place or Mine cast, taking on the role of Peter’s ex-girlfriend Minka, who ends up helping Debbie when she temporarily takes up residence in New York City.

Chao has been on a roll as of late with memorable roles in everything from Richard Linklater’s 2019 dramedy, Where’d You Go, Bernadette, to the 2022 Netflix original comedy Senior Year, with multiple others in between. Since 2022, Chao has also been a major player on the Apple TV+ original series The Afterparty, including the upcoming second season of the hilarious murder mystery. Her other TV appearances include Strangers, The OA, Love Life, and the Amazon original anthology series, Modern Love. 

Wesley Kimmel (Jack)

Rounding out the main portion of the cast is Wesley Kimmel, who takes on the role of Debbie’s shy and sheltered son, Jack.

The nephew of Jimmy Kimmel, the up-and-coming actor landed his first acting gig as the “Baby Bachelor” on a segment of his uncle’s talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, which he revisited alongside Witherspoon in early 2022. He has also appeared on shows like WandaVision and The Book of Boba Fett, the latter of which saw him play a young Tusken kid. He’s also appeared on Good Girls, The Rookie, and Crank Yankers in recent years. 

But, this is just a portion of the cast, as other actors appearing in Your Place or Mine include Griffin Matthews (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Vella Lovell (Mr. Mayor), and Shiri Appleby (Roswell, New Mexico). In addition to Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon, the Netflix movie boasts plenty of other big names, including Jesse Williams, Tig Notaro, Zoë Chao, Rachel Bloom, Steve Zahn and more. So let’s take a look at what the critics are saying, starting with CinemaBlend’s review of Your Place or Mine. With the house-swapping plot between the two leading characters, Debbie and Peter apparently aren’t actually together for much of the movie. Instead Your Place or Mine uses phones and FaceTime to show their interactions via split screen, and Pete Hammond of Deadline says it’s done well enough that staying home for this movie would be a fine alternative to other Valentine’s Day offerings. He continues: 

Leah Greenblatt of Entertainment Weekly, however, does not agree. She grades the movie a C-, saying that even an audience with low expectations deserves more than what’s delivered by writer/director Aline Brosh McKenna and the “polished, empty leads,” who the critic also calls “two hollow-core planks.” From the review: 

Lovia Gyarkye of The Hollywood Reporter thinks the writer constructs a tight narrative with Your Place or Mine, crafting less of a “will they or won’t they?” and more of a “why didn’t they?” The critic says: 

Owen Gleiberman of Variety, however, says that a middle-aged comedy starring these two established actors should be perfectly pleasing. What it’s turned into, the critic says, is “two bad movies in one.” He continues:

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher both came up in Hollywood during a time when romantic comedies were all the rage, and each made some good ones in what seems like a lifetime ago. Nowadays, each of them have climbed the industry ladder and become producers and entrepreneurs in their own right. Thankfully, Your Place Or Mine doesn’t feel like a step down for them. 

It’s a joyful return to a cozy formula so many of us love, and it's a simple and sweet modern love story about not letting the noise of life stop one from taking a chance on your passions. 

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher make for a believable pair, despite the long distance of it all.

It's no wonder that Your Place Or Mine pulls off the rare romantic comedy spell, as it is written and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna – the talented writer behind such films as The Devil Wears Prada and 27 Dresses, and the popular comedy series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. The movie marks her feature directorial debut, and she couldn’t have chosen more charismatic leads than Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher. Both stars are both back in their element but stepping into a storyline fit for their current ages that they’ve each yet to explore from a rom-com. 

Witherspoon plays Debbie, a high-strung single mother living in Los Angeles with her teen son (Wesley Kimmel) whilst her best friend of two decades, Peter (Ashton Kutcher), is a lonely advertising big-shot living in New York City. When Debbie’s plans to visit Peter in New York City for a work opportunity get foiled when her babysitter bails, Peter suggests that they switch homes for the week. 

From the beginning of the movie, as the best friends talk over video chat as they get ready for their days and then as Debbie goes off to the Big Apple and Peter jets off to L.A., Your Place or Mine makes the difficult decision to run while having its two leads in completely different settings. You’d think it would hurt the chemistry of its love interests, but the movie thrives on the tension between these two being in completely different places but so clearly being two halves who could make a whole. That is, of course, if they could somehow find themselves in the same city. 

The script is not exactly poetry, but Your Place Or Mine definitely counts among Netflix’s best rom-coms. 

Your Place Or Mine isn’t a life-changing look on love and romance by any means, and it runs on some crazy coincidences one would only see in a glitzy movie like this. That being said, Reese Witherspoon, Ashton Kutcher and the cast brush off the script’s shortcomings with their charms. Particularly great additions to Your Place Or Mine’s appeal is Tig Notaro and Steve Zahn supporting the Los Angeles side of the story with a handful of great moments. Zoë Chao and Jesse Williams bring  energy to Debbie’s NYC adventures. 

While many Netflix movies cut corners by simply bringing in big names to rather basic storylines, Your Place Or Mine has the full recipe for a Hollywood romantic comedy the early ‘00s was so famous for. One of those necessary ingredients is a specificity to the love story, and it allows the film to rise above the typical streaming rom-com. It now sits among Netflix’s other outlier best offerings from the genre that had a combination of star power and a lovable story, including All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Set It Up or Always Be My Maybe. This is something that only comes around once and a while. 

Your Place Or Mine walks a great line between escapism and groundedness. 

Many of the best romantic comedies have to balance it feeling like a daydream of what life and romance can be (without the complications of real life), while also getting us super invested enough to believe and see ourselves in the storyline as well. Your Place Or Mine checks off these boxes as we see a set of circumstances just about perfectly un-align and realign for its leads, while a surely relatable right person/wrong time plot line plays out like a vision. 

When the movie's plot threads culminate, it feeds into loads of tropes we’ve seen from romantic comedies, but also makes one’s heart soar watching a potential instant classic moment that can now go down as special in modern history of the genre. Yes, Your Place Or Mine has that unexplainable warm and fuzzy goodness that may have you going in skeptical before full on crying at the hope of love by the time its credits roll. While it doesn’t tread new waters, it’s absolutely worth your time if you’ve been craving an old school romantic comedy that you don’t already know all the words to. 

Jennifer Aniston is definitely one to show support for her friends, and that includes longtime bestie and co-star Reese Witherspoon. The Legally Blonde actress has been very busy promoting her latest rom-com, Your Place or Mine with Ashton Kutcher, and it seems like Aniston also wanted to give her friend’s new film a boost. The Friends alum pumped up the new Netflix film on her social media, showing this duo is always there to cheer each other on.

Both actors have a rom-com past, starring in movies like Sweet Home Alabama and No Strings Attached, so this is basically a match made in heaven. 

This is Witherspoon’s first film with Netflix, and she marked the occasion by wearing “Netflix Red” to the premiere. Kutcher has worked with the studio previously on his own sitcom The Ranch and most recently on an episode of That 90’s Show. They both know their way around the small screen, so I’m sure these two could just sit back and have fun while returning to their old rom-com stomping ground. The duo got really personal while making the film, so I’m sure this chemistry will come across on screen.

Ashton Kutcher has been in the public consciousness for a while. The actor became a household name by starring in That ‘70s Show in the late ‘90s, then went on to hosting the MTV show Punk’d, to now starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in Your Place or Mine. Now, the Jobs actor is recounting how he went from an amateur coder at the University of Iowa to being cast in one of the most beloved sitcoms of the ‘90s within two years time.

The period teen sitcom played on Fox and ran for 8 seasons. Kutcher got more than just a career from starring on the series. The couple share two children together. Netflix recently launched a spinoff series titled That ‘90’s Show where the duo reprised their roles from the original show, giving back to the franchise that did so much for them. Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon return to the cozy rom-com genre this weekend with Netflix’s Your Place Or Mine. The new Netflix movie follows two best friends living on two different sides of the United States who realize they may have a longtime and unexplored attraction when they trade houses for a week. The premise posed two issues right away for the actors: How does one build on-screen chemistry without sharing their scenes and How can two people realistically be best friends when they barely spend time together?

Thankfully, we’re talking about two actors who very much know their way around making these sorts of roles great. Although it’d been 12 years away from rom-coms for Kutcher, the actor has starred in six over the years, including Valentine’s Day No Strings Attached. Plus, Witherspoon has been in nearly ten, including Sweet Home Alabama. The Your Place Or Mine actors opened up about how they made their latest characters believable:

• Witherspoon: "Every day we would send back and forth videos of how's your day going? What's going on? What's happening with you? What are you afraid of? Like what, hold on, what kind of pancakes [do you like]? If you had pancakes, what would it be syrup? All of it. And we're supposed to be best friends for 20 years. So we started sending each other videos every day."
• Kutcher: "Every day we would send back and forth videos of how's your day going? What's going on? What's happening with you? What are you afraid of? Like what, hold on, what kind of pancakes [do you like]? If you had pancakes, what would it be syrup? All of it."

The actors shared how they got to know each other during Your Place Or Mine’s press conference, which CinemaBlend attended. As they explained, they decided to talk to each other over video every day before getting to work on the movie and got really close that way. They also told us there were "tricky" moments though, with Ashton Kutcher noting:

The That ’70s Show actor told Variety that starring in the lighthearted, feel-good film was a “genuine” choice that had nothing to do with career advancement or financial gain. Let's be honest, he really doesn't need either of those things at this point in his life. So why'd he sign on then? Well, it turns out the project appealed to him in a personal way:

If any of the cast of That ‘70s Show have the series to thank for their future, it would be Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, as the former co-stars found their way back to each other years after the show ended, eventually getting married and sharing two kids. Now, the two are back reprising their beloved roles of Kelso and Jackie in the Netflix spinoff That ‘90s Show. However, according to Kutcher, things were much more awkward than you think for the two of them when they were filming the original series, despite them being married now.

In a new feature with Esquire, Ashton Kutcher discussed his long career, including the hit Fox sitcom That ‘70s Show and its new sequel series. Kutcher and Kunis make an appearance in the first episode of the Netflix series after Red finds out that his granddaughter just so happens to be friends with Kelso’s son. Throw in a “Burn!” and a “Damn, Jackie!” and it was almost like nothing had changed. Being married to Kunis now as opposed to just being friends way back when, Kutcher reflected on the experiences and the different perspective he had when filming the two shows because of his relationship with his wife:

Just like the rest of the series, Kutcher and Kunis’ return was as nostalgic as ever, even if it was for just a single scene. Not to mention, the scene also involved Jackie talking about them getting remarried (after Jackie and Kelso got back together for what seems like the thousandth time), and since the two actors are actually married, it really makes you think about how much has changed since That '70s Show, and how much fun they likely had while filming it.

However, the same can’t exactly be said for the filming of That ‘70s Show since Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were much younger and not together. Kunis was actually a tad younger than the rest of her co-stars, which initially made things awkward for the pair, especially when it came to filming the romantic scenes, because as the actor explained they didn't have a romantic connection. Now being able to revisit their characters with where they are now in life, Kutcher is feeling all the more grateful:

Even though Mila Kunis did call BS on Kelso and Jackie’s fate since she didn’t exactly want them to end up together, it is nice that they did because she and Ashton Kutcher are actually married in real life and can revisit their characters in a different way. Hopefully, another season of That ‘90s Show will happen so we can get more of Jackie and Kelso, especially considering Kunis and Kutcher’s relationship IRL.

Although reviews for That ‘90s Show have been mixed, the nostalgia is still there, and it sounds like it wasn’t just for the fans. Fingers crossed that Kutcher and Kunis work together again soon because they really are the perfect scene partners, and it’s not just because they’re married.

Reese Witherspoon’s upcoming movie will take her where other A-listers have really started to tread: streaming. The actress and producer has her first starring movie role on a streaming platform coming soon (after headlining The Morning Show for Apple TV+ subscribers), and I’d expected it to be a Netflix trend once it hits the major streamer. That gig, a new movie called Your Place or Mine, will put her in the spotlight opposite none other than Ashton Kutcher, both of whom have been known for their romantic comedy work over the years. 

Fans will be able to watch the Your Place or Mine  streaming this month, and ahead of the official release of the Netflix film, both Kutcher and Witherspoon have been hyping the movie. This week, she went full fashionista in a comfortable-looking but chic dress. Although some movies Witherspoon has been behind creatively have done well on Netflix, this is actually the first movie she’s starring in for the streamer.  So, of course, she chose a “Netflix red” look. 

Of course, Reese Witherspoon almost always looks stunning, but the red, to me, also has a dual purpose. The flick is coming out just in time for the Valentine’s day, and fashion trends have a tendency to shift toward clothing in shades of red, pink, and white before that particular holiday. Given the movie is going to premiere on Netflix just ahead of Valentine’s Day weekend – or Galentine’s for a lot of ladies out there – red is an extremely solid choice. 

I’m not the only one to notice this. Artist Cleo Wade wrote on Witherspoon’s post (and edited for capitalization), “It’s giving Valentines Day icon.” Meanwhile, Witherspoon’s pal and Little Fires Everywhere co-star Kerry Washington sent some (red) heart emojis. 

Reese was feeling the red dress so much she even put up a second post. It was on that one that Drew Barrymore and others commented on, with the daytime host writing “feeling that heat you're giving off 🔥💥👀” after the actress spoke about the California sun. 

Red’s a color Reese Witherspoon is rocking in her upcoming movie as well, as the Your Place or Mine trailer also features her in the signature holiday color (among other exciting outfits). There’s been a resurgence of rom-coms of late, and this one looks to be one people are really excited about and are ready to tune in for – perhaps not just for the plot but for the fashion, as well. Here's hoping outside of enjoy Witherspoon's style, the movie also ends up being one of the great rom-coms of our time.

In a TikTok video from Esquire, Ashton Kutcher recalls the time he was completely in awe of one karaoke singer he was watching at a neighbor’s party.

Or as Gwen Stefani would say, it was “B-A-N-A-N-A-S!” ABBA songs are definitely karaoke-worthy and a great way to show off those “Super Trouper” moves like the film cast of Mamma Mia! did. The Butterfly Effect actor continued to share that he just had to approach this amazing singer and give him his props.

Little did Ashton Kutcher know who he was complimenting. I’ll give you a little hint- he auditioned for X Factor, was a member of one of the biggest British boy bands of this generation, and after Dunkirk landed the male lead of Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling. Allow the Jobs actor to tell you who he discovered was the impressionable karaoke singer. 

With two Brit Awards, a Grammy, and three American Music Awards, you better believe Harry Styles’ got singing talent. Even Texas State University announced they have a course dedicated to the British singer. But Ashton Kutcher has got plenty going on for himself. He returned for the Netflix spinoff That '90s Show with Mila Kunis revealing their characters got back together much to Kunis’ chagrin when learning of their characters' fates. The Dude, Where’s My Car? actor will also be set to star with Reese Witherspoon in the Netflix rom-com Your Place or Mine about two best friends who swap houses for a week without realizing what a life-changing decision that would be. 

Ashton Kutcher's "bananas" story shows a karaoke singer stepping up to the mic could either be an everyday local showing off their singing chops or a renowned Grammy singer. Ashton Kutcher’s upcoming Netflix rom-com with Reese Witherspoon is the actor’s first time leading a film project since 2013’s Jobs. Why? Well, Kutcher has been plenty busy on other fronts. Aside from his previous roles on Two and a Half Men and The Ranch, he has invested in several tech startups and is raising a family with his That ‘70s Show co-star and wife, Mila Kunis. Amidst all that, the actor also was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder that slowed things down for him as well. 

Ashton Kutcher recently detailed the 2019 medical episode when he got a rare form of vasculitis that knocked out his equilibrium, including his vision, hearing and ability to walk. While catching with Esquire, the actor shared that he thought about being “done” with acting in recent years, but would never go as far as announce his retirement, saying this: 

Kutcher shared with the magazine that he doesn’t get why actors feel the need to announce their retirement. Among his peers who have done so are Daniel Day-Lewis, Jim Carrey, Bruce Willis and Terrence Howard. Though there are some who have walked back after retiring previously. For example, the actor’s former What Happens In Vegas co-star Cameron Diaz is set to return to rom-coms too with Jamie Foxx for Netflix's Back in Action. 

The 44-year-old’s medical episode began with horrible migraines before dealing with intense vertigo that left him bedridden. For a month, the actor shared that he wasn’t able to do “jack shit” and had the tough mission to get back on his feet despite the circumstances on doctor’s orders in order to ensure recovery. It took the actor nearly a year to fully recover from it. After getting out of medical rehab, the actor has since gotten back to life as normal, sharing he climbed a mountain in the South Pole and learned to ski among other adventures. 

When it comes to acting nowadays, Ashton Kutcher shared his mindset these days to working in Hollywood following his recent experiences. In his words: 

After the actor found a cameo on That ‘90s Show recently alongside Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher is set to star in Your Place Or Mine with Reese Witherspoon. The movie from the writer of The Devil Wears Prada and 27 Dresses tells the story of longtime best friends from across the country who decide to live in each other’s homes for a week when a work opportunity comes along for Witherspoon’s character in New York City, where Kutcher’s character lives. While she makes big moves in the Big Apple, he watches her son and bonds with him. 

You can look forward to the first Ashton Kutcher-led movie in a decade with a Netflix subscription when Your Place or Mine drops on February 10. 

I would come to side with the more positive reviews for That ‘90s Show overall after giving the new coming-of-age comedy a shot. However, the biggest draw of the new Netflix original series for me was seeing a reunion of the stars of That ‘70s Show — the long-running sitcom the new show is spun-off from. 

In addition to Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp reprising their roles as Red and Kitty Forman, respectively, in the That ‘90s Show cast, some of their now A-list former co-stars — such as Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis — were kind enough to stop by Point Place, Wisconsin, for a sweet guest appearance or two. Let’s talk about what else the original That ‘70s Show cast has been up to lately.

Topher Grace (Eric Forman)

After leaving the role of Eric Forman a season early, Topher Grace pursued a film career that led to a variety of interesting roles like Eddie Brock (a.k.a. Venom) in the final, 2007 installment of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, David Duke in Spike Lee’s Oscar-winning, biographical cop drama, BlacKkKlansman, in 2018, and Anne Hathaway’s boyfriend in 2009’s Valentine’s Day (also starring Ashton Kutcher). 

He also, intriguingly, would make some great turns in three different sci-fi anthology series: Love, Death and Robots, Black Mirror (in arguably, the best episode of Season 5), and Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone revival. Grace’s current day job is a new sitcom on ABC called Home Economics.

Laura Prepon (Donna Pinciotti)

Making her breakthrough as Eric’s girlfriend, Donna, was Laura Prepon, whose first major success after the sitcom was joining the Orange is the New Black cast as drug money smuggler, Alex Vause. However, before landing that Netflix hit, she did have a memorable recurring role opposite the How I Met Your Mother cast as Ted’s vile ex, Karen, and played a fictionalized version of Chelsea Handler on the short-lived NBC sitcom, Are You There, Chelsea? 

Prepon has also appeared in movies like 2016’s The Girl on the Train, and The Hero with Sam Elliott (Ashton Kutcher’s The Ranch co-star), recently continued her directing career with an episode of That ‘90s Show, and co-wrote the health and wellness book, The Stash Plan, in 2016. 

Ashton Kutcher (Michael Kelso)

While his character, Michael Kelso, was certainly not the brightest of the bunch, Ashton Kutcher would go on to prove himself as one of the more enterprising cast members with the development of successful tech-based media company A Plus, investing firms Sound Ventures and A-Grade Investments, and the anti-human trafficking organization, Thorn. 

As for his acting career, the former model played Steve Jobs in a 2013 biopic and replaced Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men, to name a few things. Kutcher also recently received praise for his performance in director B.J. Novak’s Vengeance in 2022, stars opposite Reese Witherspoon in the upcoming 2023 Netflix original movie, Your Place or Mine, and leant his voice to a web series called Stoner Cats, alongside another familiar face.

Mila Kunis (Jackie Burkhart)

Kutcher’s Stoner Cats co-star, Mila Kunis, rose to fame playing his onscreen love interest, Jackie Burkhart, years before — much to their former co-stars’ surprise — falling in love in real life. The Ukrainian-born actor went on to earn a Golden Globe nomination for Black Swan, tried her hand at launching a sci-fi franchise with Jupiter Ascending, did successfully lead a comedy franchise with the Bad Moms movies, and also balanced action with comedy well in The Spy Who Dumped Me. Kunis recently took another dark turn with the Netflix original drama, Luckiest Girl Alive, and is still the voice of Meg on Family Guy.

Wilmer Valderrama (Fez)

Also leading an eclectic career since That 70s Show’s final curtain call is Fez actor Wilmer Valderrama, who starred in Richard Linklater’s Fast Food Nation, played one of the main villains of the series adaptation of From Dusk Til Dawn, and voiced the title role of the animated series Handy Manny. 

He also played a cop on several TV shows — namely the short-lived Awake, Fox’s series adaptation of Minority Report, and, most notably (and currently), in the NCIS cast as Nick Torres. The Venezuelan actor also gave an impressive performance in the Blast Beat cast in 2020, had a memorable role in the Encanto voice cast, and is preparing to play Zorro in an upcoming reboot.

Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty Forman)

After she (temporarily) said goodbye to playing the ultimate ’70s-era mother, Kitty Forman, Debra Jo Rupp, would reunite with some of her co-stars with guest appearances opposite Kutcher on The Ranch and Valderrama on NCIS. She also added movies like Kickin’ it Old School and She’s Out Of My League on to her resume and would (technically) return to sitcom acting by poking fun at the genre on Disney+’s WandaVision. 

Rupp is now preparing to reprise her role from that hit on another upcoming Marvel TV show called Agatha: Coven of Chaos and, for now, it is refreshing to see her back as Kitty on That ‘90s Show.

Kurtwood Smith (Red Forman)

Also back on That ‘90s Show as Kitty’s husband, Red, is Kurtwood Smith, who was previously best known for another demanding father in Dead Poet’s Society, and as the main antagonist of one of the best ‘80s sci-fi movies, RoboCop. Like Rupp, he also went on to star in comic book adaptations — such as the animated series Beware the Batman as Commissioner Gordon — and guest-starred on The Ranch. 

More recently, he appeared alongside Amanda Seyfried on Hulu’s Elizabeth Holmes miniseries The Dropout, was in 2022’s Firestarter remake cast, and returned to the Star Trek franchise (years after playing one of Star Trek: Voyager’s best villains) by lending his voice to the animated series, Star Trek: Lower Decks.

Don Stark (Bob Pinciotti)

Another That ’70s Show cast member with ties to “the final frontier” (i.e., a Deep Space Nine episode and one of the Star Trek movies, First Contact), is Don Stark, whose best know role is, arguably, as Donna’s father, Bob. Since then, he has made guest appearances and landed recurring roles on an eclectic variety of TV hits — including Supernatural, American Horror Story, and Maron, to name a few. You could also see Stark on the big screen in the likes of Disney’s 2012 The Princess of Mars adaptation, John Carter, and the 2019 Best Picture Oscar winner, Green Book.

Tommy Chong (Leo)

The only series regular in the cast who actually rose to fame in the ‘70s was Tommy Chong, who was perfectly cast as aging hippie, Leo. His popularity has, arguably, skyrocketed ever since, as has the variety on his resume, which includes hit animated movies like Zootopia as Jax and one of the best horror movies on Shudder, 2019’s Color out of Space. The Canadian legend has also been known to reunite with his old comedy partner, Cheech Marin, on various projects, including their own brand of cannabis, unsurprisingly. 

It was so refreshing to see the actors above coming back together again for yet another nostalgia-fueled sitcom. However, missing from That ‘90s Show and our list, as you may have noticed, are Hyde actor Danny Masterson —  who is currently facing sexual assault charges — Josh Meyers (Seth’s younger brother), who joined the That ‘70s Show cast in the show’s least favored season as Eric’s replacement, Randy Peterson, and the late Lisa Robin Kelly (as Eric’s older sister, Laurie) and Tanya Roberts (as Donna’s mother, Midge), who are deeply missed.

By now, whether or not you’ve actually sat down to watch Netflix’s popular That ‘90s Show spinoff, you probably have already heard the series did the ‘ol relationship switcheroo. At the end of That ‘70s Show Jackie and Fez had been a thing, but by the time the new episodes pick up, Jackie is back with Kelso and they have a kid together. Most fans seem to love this. Mila Kunis is not most fans.

How That ‘70s Show Fans Feel About That ‘90s Show’s Twist 

As fans caught up with That‘ 90s Show one of the major topics of conversations online had to do with not loving the way Jackie and Fez had ended up in the original series. On the other hand, the new version seemingly fixes that twist.

Another fan noted Jackie was already seemingly close to leaving Fez (and was definitely thinking about Kelso) toward the end of the show. This scene is running around again hinting at this outcome, with Jackie and Kelso exchanging a quick smile. 

People are also loving the kid the new series hired to play Michael and Jackie’s offspring. I mean, he really does look like a solid mix of the two of them, and kudos to the casting and styling teams.

While there’s a lot of love for the returns of Jackie, Kelso and other members of the gang, some former fans are feeling like we need way more backstory! 

How Mila Kunis Feels About The Changes That '90s Show Made

While Fez does appear in Season 1 of That 90s Show, he’s not there as Jackie’s love interest. There’s one person who doesn’t think  that’s fair:  Jackie herself. While her real-life partner Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis herself were pumped to return and film the spinoff, the storyline was maybe not what she would have expected. Kunis, in fact, called “bs” on the entire situation on Netflix, telling Access Hollywood: 

The fans hearts want what the fans hearts want. Honestly, though, the issues with what has transpired on the Netflix show do extend further than just Kunis' personal feelings. Her feelings don't stem solely from Jackie dating Fez at the end of the series. There is also the entire Kelso plotline that was a main component of the original series toward its end. Kelso married and had a baby with a character named Brooke in the latter part of the series. 

That ‘90s Show doesn’t even mention their daughter Betsy (another facet fans have commented on), particularly given the young kids in the new series would be around the same age. Or as Mila Kunis rightly noted: 

The timeline is a little suspect, but hopefully the show will get the opportunity to explore what happened further if That '90s Show gets a Season 2. (I'm certainly interested to learn more given some of the ideas That '90s Show creators have bandied about.) Besides, the world always feels like it's in its natural order when Red's out there, threatening his foot in peoples' asses.
