The timelines of the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises in film and television are fairly complex, but they don’t really hold a candle to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point. There are not only dozens of blockbusters and multiple streaming shows, but even multiple realities to keep track of. And did we mention that there are always more upcoming Marvel movies and upcoming Marvel TV shows on the way? We sympathize with anyone trying to keep track of it all, and we put together this feature to help you in that endeavor – whether you want to watch everything in Chronological Order or in Release Order.

If You’ve Never Seen The Marvel Movies Before

If you’re a complete newbie when it comes to the goings-on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s no real reason to be cute about picking a specific entry point: you should stick with the Release Order route. You can start getting creative after you’ve watched everything and you start doing rewatches, but when you’re just getting into the MCU, your best path to take is the same path that all existing fans took into the comic book franchise.

If You’ve Seen The Marvel Movies Before

Are you a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan who remembers seeing Jon Favreau’s Iron Man on the big screen in 2008 and have seen everything else on opening weekend ever since? Rewatching all of the films and TV shows in release order may be too basic for you, so allow us to recommend giving Chronological Order a whack. You’ll be able to properly witness the full scope of the timeline going back to the first half of the 20th century and may pick up on things that you didn’t notice or understand during previous viewings.

Marvel Movies In Chronological Order

The filmmakers at Marvel Studios like to play around with time – and I don’t just mean via time travel (though that is certainly a part of it). The effort to construct a cohesive universe means crafting a firm and verbose timeline, and that has been accomplished with movies and TV shows set in the past, present, and future. Want to start a new MCU rewatch by witnessing the true launch of the Age of Heroes in the canon? This is the order you should follow.

Captain America: The First Avenger (Set In 1940s)

The full story set furthest into the past in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Captain America: The First Avenger – an adventure that entirely takes place towards the end of World War II. Spanning about two years (1943-1945), the story takes us from the transformation of Steve Rogers into Captain America, to his bold sacrificial move in the Arctic Circle that led him to being frozen in ice for decades. It’s in this film that we are introduced to not only the incredibly important titular hero, but also key supporting characters like James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes, Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, Johann Schmidt a.k.a. Red Skull, and Arnim Zola, all of whom have key roles to play in later movies. It's also the first of many stories to involve the Tesseract a.k.a. The Space Stone.

Captain Marvel (Set In 1990s)

There are flashbacks in Ant-Man, Ant-Man And The Wasp, Captain America: Civil War, and Black Panther that give audiences a peek into events that occurred after World War II in the MCU timeline, but the truth is that most of the 20th century remains open for exploration in future movies. The one part of the period that is an exception to this is the mid-1990s, which is when the events of Captain Marvel take place (specifically 1995). Naturally, this is where audiences get to meet Carol Danvers for the first time, and it’s also the introduction of the shape-shifting Skrull Talos, but from a chronological perspective, this also marks the debut of Phil Coulson and Nick Fury.

Iron Man (Set In 2010)

The opening scene of Iron Man 3 shows what it was like for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to experience the 2000 New Year’s celebration, but the timeline zooms ahead to 2010ish for the next big arc, and that’s the movie that started it all: Iron Man. It’s in this story that we get to watch Tony Stark transform into an armor-clad superhero, but also get to know James “Rhodey” Rhodes, Pepper Potts, and Happy Hogan. Plus it’s an opportunity to check in with Nick Fury and Phil Coulson more than 15 years after Captain Marvel.

Iron Man 2 (Set In 2010)

The reason why the setting of Iron Man is a couple of years after its release date is because the story directly dovetails with the events of Iron Man 2, which is set in 2010. The film begins with the same scene that ended the previous movie – Tony Stark declaring to the world that he is Iron Man – and gives fans a chance to catch up with James “Rhodey” Rhodes (who becomes War Machine), Pepper Potts, Happy Hogan, Nick Fury, and Phil Coulson. This is the movie that also marks the first appearance of Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. Black Widow, who is operating as an undercover S.H.I.E.L.D. agent spying on Tony as he struggles with a life-threatening illness, confronts the possibility of his technology being proliferated, and weighs entrance to the Avengers.

Thor (Set In 2010)

In Iron Man 2 we see Phil Coulson leave his assignment babysitting Tony Stark for a developing situation in New Mexico, and it winds up being revealed that the situation in question is the arrival of Thor on Earth a.k.a. Midgard (which means that it too is set in 2010ish). The first Thor movie is big on introductions, as we get to meet not only key Asgardians like the God of Thunder himself, Loki, Odin, Frigga, Heimdall, Sif, and the Warriors Three, but also notable humans such as Jane Foster, Darcy Lewis, Erik Selvig, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jasper Sitwell, and Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye.

The Incredible Hulk (Set In 2010)

If you are paying attention during the second to last scene in Iron Man 2, you’ll notice a familiar broadcast playing on one of the monitors – specifically a news report about a rampage by the Hulk at a college. This is because The Incredible Hulk is yet another story that takes place around 2010. It’s not the most significant movie on the MCU timeline, as it only features two characters who go on to be really important (not counting the Tony Stark cameo), but it is noteworthy that those two individuals are Bruce Banner a.k.a. Hulk and future Secretary of State Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross, who is on a global hunt for the green monster.

The Avengers (Set In 2012)

Following the Iron Man 2/Thor/Incredible Hulk cluster, there is a small gap in the timeline, but things pick back up with The Avengers, which is set in 2012. This particular adventure was obviously notable for bringing Marvel’s established ensemble of characters together, with an alien invasion bringing together Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Loki, Erik Selvig, Pepper Potts, and Phil Coulson in the same story, but the movie also marks the arrival of both Maria Hill and Thanos to the live-action canon.

Iron Man 3 (Set In 2012)

Immediately post-Avengers, both the chronological and release date timelines sync up for the most part. Iron Man 3 was the first movie to come out after the 2012 blockbuster, and it’s also the first story in-universe to follow it – taking place around Christmas of that year. Given that it is a more introspective story, with Tony Stark gaining a larger understanding of what it means to be Iron Man, the only important new character we meet is The Mandarin… who turns out to be a fake anyway. That being said, the film does also bring James “Rhodey” Rhodes, Pepper Potts, Happy Hogan and Howard Stark (albeit in video form) back into the action.

Thor: The Dark World (Set In 2013)

Thor: The Dark World is set during an unspecified season of 2013, and while it doesn’t expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe at all with new characters, it does update audiences on what has been happening with almost the entire ensemble that was featured in the first movie, including Thor, Loki, Jane Foster, Odin, Frigga, Heimdall, Sif, the Warriors Three, Darcy Lewis, and Erik Selvig. Plus it has an adventure that centers around one of the most significant elements in the canon: the Reality Stone.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Set In 2014)

It’s in the calendar year of 2014 that the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier play out, as audiences primarily catch up with Captain America and Black Widow as they sniff out a conspiracy within the goings-on at S.H.I.E.L.D. The blockbuster notably also brings back Bucky Barnes (now the Winter Soldier), Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Jasper Sitwell, Peggy Carter (now in her 90s), and Arnim Zola (now a computer), but also has fans get to know Sam Wilson a.k.a. Falcon, Sharon Carter a.k.a. Agent 13, S.H.I.E.L.D. Secretary Alexander Pierce, and strike team operative Brock Rumlow a.k.a. Crossbones.

Guardians Of The Galaxy (Set In 2014)

Thanks to particular title cards in the beginning of the movie, we know for a fact that Guardians of the Galaxy takes place in the year 2014, though the narrative that unfolds in the movie couldn’t be set further away from the main action in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is, of course, the story that brought the likes of Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, Groot, Nebula, Yondu, and Kraglin into the live-action canon, while also seeing Thanos conspire with Ronan The Accuser to find The Power Stone.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (Set In 2014)

Because of the release schedule, most Marvel Cinematic Universe sequels are set at least a couple years after their predecessor, but that’s not the case with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which is set just a few months after the first movie – letting it come directly after it in chronological order. This adventure is very different than the last, centering on the titular group as they meet a being who claims to be Peter Quill’s father, and a great new addition is made to the team with the arrival of Mantis.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron (Set In 2015)

Back on Earth in the year 2015, the Avengers reunited for a world-threatening crisis of their very own making – namely Tony Stark’s creation of the deadly artificial intelligence known as Ultron. Avengers: Age Of Ultron not only brings back together Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Falcon, War Machine, Nick Fury, and Erik Selvig for the first time since 2012, but also has a huge impact on the future of the franchise. This is the movie that initially put Scarlet Witch in action (not counting her Captain America: The Winter Soldier post-credits cameo), features the creation of Vision, has a role for Ulysses Klaue, and also involves two Infinity Stones: the Mind Stone and the Space Stone.

Ant-Man (Set In 2015)

Thanks to a particular line about the Avengers dropping cities out of the sky, we know that Ant-Man is set after the events of Avengers: Age Of Ultron, and as a result it’s pretty easy to pin it to its release year: 2015. It’s an important chapter for the MCU, as while the story about the heist of top secret technology doesn’t have much of an impact on the larger continuity of the franchise, it is the first movie for a lot of recurring characters, including Scott Lang a.k.a. Ant-Man, Hope van Dyne (pre-Wasp), Hank Pym, Luis, Kurt, Dave, Paxton, and Cassie and Maggie Lang. It also has cameos from Falcon, Howard Stark, and Peggy Carter.

Captain America: Civil War (Set In 2016)

It’s in the year 2016 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that a monumental change begins to take effect in regards to the way in which people of the world view superheroes. Understanding that there’s a serious risk in having costumed vigilantes operating without oversight, the Sokovia Accords are ratified globally, and it’s an issue that causes a great divide between members of the Avengers. This is obviously one of the most significant stories in the franchise timeline, both bringing together the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, Falcon, Vision, Winter Soldier, Agent 13, Ant-Man, Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross, Crossbones, and Howard Stark, while introducing T’Challa a.k.a. Black Panther, Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man, Helmut Zemo, May Parker, the Dora Milaje’s Ayo, and Everett Ross.

Black Panther (Set In 2016)

While there were four Marvel movies released between Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther, the latter is much closer on the timeline to the former than any other feature. With the 2016 blockbuster featuring the death of the Wakandan ruler T’Chaka, Black Panther is a film set in the aftermath as T’Challa returns home. While dealing with a challenge to the titular hero’s throne from a previously-unknown cousin, the new film brings in a couple of familiar faces with Everett Ross, Ayo, and Ulysses Klaue, but mostly features new characters, including Ramonda , Shuri , Okoye, M'Baku, Nakia, W'Kabi, and Ayo.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (Set In 2016)

Like Black Panther, Spider-Man: Homecoming is also very much set in the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, but a little more time has passed in between the stories. While the plot has Peter Parker struggling to be the best Spider-Man he can be while operating under certain restrictions from Iron Man, the film also introduces audiences to all of the important people in the hero’s life, including his classmates Ned Leeds, Flash Thompson, Michelle, a.k.a. M.J., Betty Brant, and teachers like Mr. Harrington. May Parker also makes her second MCU appearance, while there is also a part to play for Happy Hogan and a cameo from Pepper Potts.

Black Widow (Set In 2016)

Cate Shortland's Black Widow may have been released as the first title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Four, but it's a chapter that is still embedded amidst the various events that comprised the latter years of the Infinity Saga. While the blockbuster isn't set as close to the events of Captain America: Civil War as either Black Panther or Spider-Man: Homecoming, the plot is very much tied to that period – specifically in the sense that it picks up with the titular heroine on the run due to her disobeying the orders in the Sokovia Accords.

Doctor Strange (Set In 2016)

Dr. Stephen Strange gets specifically name dropped in Captain America: Civil War, but evidence suggests it’s because of his advanced skills as a brain surgeon – not because he eventually becomes one of the most magically gifted individuals on Earth. On the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, Doctor Strange doesn’t actually go through his whole origin story until after the events of both Black Panther and Spider-Man: Homecoming - which pins the start of his journey in late 2016.

Thor: Ragnarok (Set In 2018)

Where Thor: Ragnarok sits on the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline is most easily perceived by its proximity to Avengers: Infinity War – which is evident from the post-credits scene that directly ties into the massive blockbuster. Without any specific dates available, the best guess is that the bulk of the movie takes place in the year 2018, with the God of Thunder going on a wild adventure that sees him travel to a garbage planet while his sister, Hela, takes over Asgard. This movie is important to the canon in that it refreshes audiences on the whereabouts of Hulk, Loki, and Heimdall, while also showing the fates of the Warriors Three and Odin. There's also a fun supporting role played by Doctor Strange, who is shown to possess very skilled control over magiks, and the introduction of fun new players including Valkyrie, Korg, Meik, and The Grandmaster.

Ant-Man And The Wasp (Set In 2018)

Like Thor: Ragnarok, we know that Ant-Man And The Wasp takes place very close to the events of Avengers: Infinity War because of what is shown during the end credits (namely the effects of The Blip). However, because the story plays out over less time, and goes further into the future than the third God of Thunder film, we’re putting it next chronologically. While tracing a plot that finds its main characters working to rescue the long-missing Janet van Dyne, this movie catches fans up with all the key Ant-Man players, including Scott Lang, Hope Van Dyne (who finally becomes Wasp), Hank Pym, Luis, Kurt, Dave, Paxton, and Cassie and Maggie Lang.

Avengers: Infinity War (Set In 2018)

Taking place in the spring of 2018, Avengers: Infinity War plays out the first chapter in a two-part saga that Marvel Studios planned over the course of more than a decade. Following Thanos’ journey to collect all six of the Infinity Stones, the film features far too many characters to list here… and at the end of the day winds up killing approximately half of them.

Avengers: Endgame (Set In 2023)

As for Avengers: Endgame, the most significant events of the blockbuster take place in the year 2023, five years after the devastating ending of Avengers: Infinity War… but it’s also a hard title to specifically put on a timeline specifically because of the time travel antics that are featured. To get into all of the details here would be a touch too confusing, not to mention the crazy number of heroes and villains who appear, but the fact that the movie jumps the MCU canon into the near future is really the big takeaway from a timeline perspective.

WandaVision (Set In 2023)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe entered a new era with the release of WandaVision, not only because it's the first title in Phase 4, but also because it's the franchise's first Disney+ series. It's also an interesting story to consider in the Marvel timeline, as it's actually set between the events of Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home. It's specifically said in dialogue on the show that the plot really begins about three weeks after the final battle against Thanos, and head writer Jac Schaeffer has confirmed that the events that play out happen over the course of about a week.

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier (Set In 2024)

Beyond being clearly set in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Disney+ series doesn't really provide too many anchors regarding where it sits in the timeline, but given the featured animosity regarding political restructuring after The Blip, it seems fair to say that a few months have past, putting it after the events of WandaVision.

Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings (Set In Spring 2024)

Thanks to its central antagonist having lived for a millennia Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings is a movie that features scenes that go way back in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – but the vast majority is set in the “present”. It's not easy to pinpoint exactly when the events of the film occur in relation to Avengers: Endgame, but there is a moment when Wenwu says that the portal to the mystical world of Ta Lo will be open during the Chinese holiday Qingming Jie, which is celebrated in the spring.

Eternals (Set In 2024)

While many Marvel movies have featured flashbacks that are set centuries in the past, Eternals is a special case in that it goes back a remarkable 7,000 years in history, chronicling its characters' journey shepherding human society. That being said, the bulk of the action takes place in the post-Blip "present," and while there aren't really any specific seasonal markers, it feels safe to line it up in release order and say that events transpire around the time or after what happens in Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings.

Spider-Man: Far From Home (Set In Summer 2024)

Although Spider-Man: Far From Home was the first MCU film released in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame – evidence suggests that it takes place after a number of the films and shows that followed it. The set up of the story suggests it takes place in the summer of 2024. The fact that Tony Stark is dead still weighs heavily on the minds of characters in this story, but once again we get to reconnect with the important people in Peter Parker’s circle, including Ned Leeds, Flash Thompson, M.J., Betty Brant, Mr. Harrington, May Parker, and Happy Hogan.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (Set In Fall 2024)

Given the cliffhanger ending of Spider-Man: Far From Home, with J. Jonah Jameson and Mysterio revealing the web-slinger's secret identity to the world, Spider-Man: No Way Home had to be set in the immediate aftermath – and it delivers. It's made clear that the story is set in the immediate aftermath of Halloween (given that MJ's boss at the coffee shop requesting that decorations be taken down), and the narrative doesn't unfold over a great deal of time.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness (Set In Fall 2024)

A considerable percentage of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness takes place outside of the normal MCU timeline, but there is still plenty of action set in the 616 Universe (which the movie designates). There aren't many details revealed within the film itself regarding when it is set – other than it being after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home – but thanks to the timeline order featured on Disney+, we know that it takes place between the events of the webslinger blockbuster and...

Hawkeye (Set In December 2024)

If you look closely in Spider-Man: No Way Home, you can see billboards for Rogers: The Musical, a fictional Broadway production that is more prominently featured in Hawkeye. With the blockbuster ending in November 2024, it's logical then that the Disney+ series is set in December of the same year – and specifically around Christmas.

Moon Knight (Set In 2025)

The Disney+ series Moon Knight in general has very few connections to the larger happenings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it most definitely is set within the canon, and we do have a general idea of when it's set thanks to the aforementioned official timeline on the streaming service. According to Disney, the events on the show take place after the events of Hawkeye – and given that Hawkeye is set in December 2024, it's fair that we pin the events to taking place sometime in 2025.

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law (Set In 2025)

Notable mention of Wong's battle with Abomination featured in Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings gives us at least one standout way in which to pinpoint She-Hulk: Attorney At Law's exact place on the MCU timeline, but still we're mostly relying on info from Disney+ here. The streaming service puts the show's events after those that take place in Moon Knight, but notably it is set before the events of the Marvel show that directly preceded it...

Ms. Marvel (Set In Fall 2025)

The Ms. Marvel series was released prior to She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, but the streaming service that debuted it says that they didn't come out in chronological order where the MCU is concerned. We don't know what exact month the events take place during, but it's worth noting that Kamala Khan is depicted as starting her junior year of high school, which means that it takes place in the fall.

Thor: Love And Thunder (Set In Late 2025/Early 2026)

Although we know that Thor: Love And Thunder takes place a fair amount of time after the events of Avengers: Endgame, it isn't perfectly clear exactly how far. The best guess we have to the setting comes from Thor telling Mighty Thor that it's been eight years, seven months, and six days since he last saw her... but that only gets us so far considering we don't know exactly when they broke up. We know that happened before the events of Captain America: Civil War, but details are vague, leaving us to pin the movie to 2025/2026.

Werewolf By Night (Set In Late 2025/Early 2026)

The Special Presentation Werewolf By Night opens up a new monster-filled corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though in doing so it doesn't get too specific regarding when it takes place in relation to other events that are happening in the canon. Disney+'s timeline says that it takes place after Thor: Love And Thunder, but because we don't really know when that blockbuster is set, it's hard to get an exact read on the timeline spot for the MCU's first full-on horror project.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Set In Late 2025/Early 2026)

In the case of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, fans will have to suss out the specifics when it comes to months/seasons, but at the very least we do know its position on the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline thanks to producer Nate Moore. The filmmaker confirmed to CinemaBlend that the blockbuster's setting is "potentially concurrent" with both the events in Thor: Love And Thunder and Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania.

The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special (Set In December 2025)

Marvel Studios celebrated Christmas 2024 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the adventure in Hawkeye, and set one year later is the shenanigan-filled Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special. There isn't a specific mention of the year that things are happening, but it's clearly set after the events in Thor: Love And Thunder.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania (Set In Late 2025/Early 2026)

Because the film is primarily set in the time-warping Quantum Realm, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania is not the easiest blockbuster to place on the Marvel timeline, but Nate Moore's comment about it being concurrent with Thor: Love And Thunder and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever gives us the confidence to at least pin it to late 2025/early 2026.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 (2026)

As noted, the adventures in Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 happened very close together on the MCU timeline, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has a similar relationship with the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. It's not made explicitly clear when the movie is set, but references are made to that Disney+ adventure, pinning the blockbuster to the early months of 2026.

Secret Invasion (2026)

The Disney+ original series Secret Invasion is heavy on flashbacks, dipping into many different eras of the MCU, but it's mostly set post-Blip. There aren’t any specific dates mentioned that specifically tell us whether or not the events are happening before or after the story in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (a tricky thing to pin down since so much of that film is set away from Earth), but we're going to stick by the rule of thumb and put it after.

The Marvels (2026)

Unlike Captain Marvel, which took audiences back to the 1990s in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Marvels is set in the contemporary era as to unite Carol Danvers with a post-Ms. Marvel Kamala Khan and a post-WandaVision Monica Rambeau. Even though it also features the return of Nick Fury, we're left to only assume that the events take place after Secret Invasion.

In Canon/Outside Of The Timeline

Clearly there is a lot going on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe… but you also have to remember that it is one of an infinite number of realities included in the multiverse. As the franchise has dug further into this idea, it has resulted in some projects being produced with stories that take place outside the MCU canon as it is generally recognized. We’ve included this special section in our feature to highlight these titles.

Loki

Technically a spin-off from Avengers: Endgame, Loki chronicles the version of the titular God of Mischief who managed to escape from the grasp of the Avengers thanks to a misplaced Tesseract. Having messed with the time stream, he is arrested as a Variant by the Time Variance Authority – and when he is brought to their headquarters, he finds himself in a location that exists outside of normal time and space. The series, which ran for two seasons on Disney+, doesn't really fit on the chronological timeline as a result, but it is at the very least best watched only after the aforementioned 2019 blockbuster.

What If

Debuting on Disney+ in summer 2021, What If is a series that is developed by Marvel Studios that exclusively focuses on stories that play out on alternate timelines that are similar to the events featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe... but with special changes altering everything. What if Peggy Carter had gotten the super soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers? What if the Ravagers kidnapped T'Challa instead of Peter Quill? What if Ant-Man and Wasp accidentally unleashed a zombie plague from the Quantum Realm? All those stories and more are told in this multiverse-centric animated series, and following the release of Season 2 at the end of 2023, a Season 3 is in the works that will spin even more of these kinds of tales.

Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine was heralded prior to release as the arrival of X-Men characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe... but that's not really what ends up playing out in the 2024 blockbuster. While there is an early scene set in the MCU and plenty of discussion about it between characters, the film mostly takes place in the Time Variance Authority, the universe from the X-Men franchise, and The Void at the end of time.

The construction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wasn’t an accident. Executives and filmmakers didn’t simply put a bunch of project titles on slips of paper in a hat and pick them out at random to create a release schedule. While not all of the stories unfold in chronological order, there is a design behind the introductions of specific heroes and villains in the construction of the franchise. Avengers: Endgame was one of the biggest movies ever made with one of the most impressive casts ever assembled. And part of what makes the movie that much more impressive is the fact that, while a multitude of movie tricks could have made the impressive cast only appear to be on screen together, they largely all were there-- even for a simple crowd shot where nobody spoke. The crowd is so big it might even have some uninvited guests. Because a new set photo from Endgame at Tony's funeral has me asking questions.

A pair of images have been making the rounds from the funeral scene at the end of Avengers: Endgame. The image confirms that all the stars of the movie were on hand for the funeral scene and it wasn't done by creating a composite image of several different groups. However, somebody is asking a question that we now can't stop asking. Who exactly is that on the far right of the image in the CGI pajamas?

The second image shows the assembled mourners at Tony Stark's funeral, and it's a massive crowd. It honestly looks bigger here than it did on the movie screen. But then off to the right we see a character standing alone who appears to be a stand in for a CGI character. The most obvious candidate for who this would be is Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, but the first image shows Hulk in the middle of the pack, not off to one side, so that wouldn't seem to make any sense.

Some are suggesting that this is simply an alternate take, that put the actors in different places, so this could still be Hulk, but that doesn't necessarily work either. This character clearly isn't holding his right arm in a sling, as Hulk would have been. Having said that, there's no other obvious CGI character in the crowd that could be Hulk, so maybe it is.

Other fans on Reddit are suggesting that it could be some other character, like Korg, who was perhaps filmed to be in the funeral sequence, but wasn't ultimately used in the final cut. Korg seems like an odd choice to be off on his own like that. Korg has always been a comic relief character, but perhaps that's why he was cut out. If there was an attempt to include a joke here, maybe in just didn't work given the overall tone of the scene.

The Russo Brothers have previously said that there were three CGI characters in the scene, Hulk, Rocket, and Groot. Based on the height of the character, it's likely not Rocket, so perhaps it could be Groot, again, in an alternate version from what we got in the final film.

Whoever that is, it's still a pretty impressive picture of a cast brought together, especially considering none of them apparently had any idea what they were doing there. And maybe the crowd was even bigger than we thought as some guests of the funeral didn't make it on camera.

Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes' story in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier brought about new respect and friendship between the two. That teamwork and camaraderie came courtesy of Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s on-screen dynamic. Of course, their off-screen dynamic is quite different from Wilson and Barnes'. They have a strong brotherhood that fans have continued to witness off-screen too. The latest example came courtesy of Mackie as he sent his co-star a great message on his birthday.

Given how tight the MCU family is, it’s no surprise that Anthony Mackie decided to acknowledge Sebastian Stan on his recent a special occasion. The Captain America 4 star took to his Instagram to give Stan a nice birthday shout-out. Mackie shared a post with his Falcon and the Winter Soldier co-star on his special day:

It was nice to see Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s bond is still strong after the conclusion of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+. Hopefully, Stan felt special knowing Mackie was thinking about his birthday and even shared that poignant post that included a message about the Avenger Boyz.

The Captain America 4 star’s Instagram shout-out shouldn’t come as a surprise. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan have shown on multiple occasions how close they are. It was most evident during Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s promotional run as they gabbed about topics ranging from Sam and Bucky’s text messages or Mackie’s almost run-in with Prince. Before the series finale aired, the two MCU stars also shared an adorable exchange on Instagram. The Disney+ series seemed to further cement their friendship formed over their shared MCU experience.

The Falcon and the Winter Solider may not be the end of Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan's on-screen time. Stan proposed, shortly before the finale, that he and Mackie team up for another television project. Some fans want that friendship to go further, though Mackie hasn’t been too keen on some fans taking Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes’ chemistry too far. He has a love for Stan, but fans trying to ship the two Marvel characters together he feels sullies the partnership they've built. So, The Woman in the Window star wants to keep his and Stan’s on-screen relationship at a platonic level. Given Mackie’s previous comments, the fan shipping didn’t ruin his friendship with the Pam & Tommy star.

Now, Sebastian Stan knows how much Anthony Mackie cherishes their friendship. With Mackie officially taking over the Captain America mantle, maybe he can convince Stan to pop up in Captain America 4. Warning! The following contains spoilers from the Loki episode "Glorious Purpose." Read at your own risk!

Loki did a lot of things in its premiere episode. It seemingly put the final nail in the coffin for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. being part of official MCU canon, explained that Loki wasn't actually as evil as we thought during The Avengers and confirmed that Infinity Stones make great paperweights. There are even some who claim it definitively solved any time travel issues presented in Avengers: Endgame, but let's pump the brakes there.

Since the beginning of time, time travel as a plot device has complicated numerous fictional works and will continue to do so until time is no longer. To say Loki fixed Avengers: Endgame's time-travel issues is an incredibly bold statement I've decided to dissect, no matter how many headaches it may cause. Once again, there will be spoilers ahead for Loki, so exercise caution!

The Problem With Avengers: Endgame's Time Travel

In Avengers: Endgame, various heroes traveled back in time to retrieve the Infinity Stones, all in an effort to restore the lives Thanos took. Hulk was specifically warned by The Ancient One that he'd be creating divergent timelines by removing the Infinity Stones from their rightful place, and those divergent timelines would suffer as a result. Hulk said that wasn't a problem because the plan was to ultimately return immediately after they took them via time travel to ensure that didn't happen.

Avengers: Endgame's time travel sounds like a solid idea on paper, but it starts to fall apart quickly when you think about it too long. Is there any way the heroes could've traveled to the past and not caused any problems with their visit? Even if they arrived at the point right after they took the Infinity Stones, it would still be a divergent timeline, right?

If you're looking for answers from the Russos or the writers, they can't agree on whether Steve Rogers traveled to an alternate timeline or lived a second full life as Peggy Carter's secret husband in the main timeline. The main problem is that no one seems to have definitive answers on what the Avengers did and didn't do to the MCU with their time travel. This may be why it was so exciting to hear Loki give some real answers on that, however flawed they may be.

How Loki "Fixed" Avengers: Endgame's Time Travel

At Loki's sentencing in the Time Variance Authority, the God of Mischief tried to throw the Avengers under the bus as the true time criminals in his situation. It was surprising enough that Loki sniffed out two Tony Starks in the same building, but not quite as surprising as what the TVA judge said in response. According to this judge, the time travel that The Avengers did during Avengers: Endgame simply didn't matter.

It's certainly nice to state and believe that, but the simple fact of the matter is I don't think that's true. We can't write off the Avengers' actions in Avengers: Endgame as things they were "supposed to do," especially considering the big glaring mistake they made during their ventures back in time.

Why Loki's Explanation Didn't Fix Avengers: Endgame's Time Travel Issues

In what world does it make sense that the Avengers were supposed to travel back through time, but their actions gave Loki an opportunity to escape? It's not like Tony or any of the heroes intended that to happen, but their actions resulted in something that the TVA has explicitly said wasn't supposed to happen.

And Loki was only one of the clear mistakes we witnessed. It's impossible to know what other mistakes the Avengers created that the TVA deemed unacceptable. Of course, it's assumed the TVA is aware of these mistakes because, as Mobius said, they know everything. Mobius also explained it's important not to think of what the TVA finds acceptable as "right" or "wrong," which feels about as convenient as Hulk's explanation of how time travel works in the MCU.

Fans are running with Loki's explanation justifying the Avengers' time-travel in Avengers: Endgame, but they didn't really give us more answers than "don't worry about it." Let's be honest, we still know very little about the TVA in this series, and given that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is coming down the line after this series, we could assume they're not quite as good at their job as we've been led to believe. After all, if they know everything about the Sacred Timeline Loki, why haven't they been able to catch the variant Loki they're in pursuit of?

Why I Feel This Is An Issue

Loki's first attempt to untangle the time travel issues presented in Avengers: Endgame is, in my opinion, sloppy at best. We're told not to worry about the consequences of the Avengers' time travel because they don't matter, and yet it's looking like Loki could be the precursor to Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.

Marvel Studios is committed to building on plot threads it introduced in Avengers: Endgame, which can be problematic if it hasn't 100% worked out or reached a consensus on the effects of all the time travel that occurred. It's easy for the TVA to dismiss all of it as inconsequential, but it doesn't have to deal with the knowledge that Steve Rogers may have frenched his relative unless somehow he went and lived a life with Peggy in a divergent timeline.

It's entirely possible that the TVA doesn't know time as well as it thinks, and that Loki will eventually explain that. For now, though, the premiere left us with a flawed explanation justifying Avengers: Endgame, and a missed opportunity for Marvel Studios to put a lot of the speculation about the MCU and the effects of divergent timelines and multiverses to rest. There's a chance that it all will be cleared up down the road, but should Marvel continue to build on premises that it hasn't fully explained to its audience, I fear there's a good chance things get more sloppy going forward. Of course, Marvel has done a great job with its storytelling over the past decade, so maybe my fears about where things are headed are misguided.

Loki premieres new episodes Wednesday on Disney+. Despite this long rant, there's plenty to love about the new series, outside of the fact that it could all result in a really sad ending when all is said and done.

After Black Widow's significant delays due to the pandemic, the Marvel film is finally almost here. The studio is gearing up for its long-anticipated return to theaters (and MCU newcomer Florence Pugh has confirmed the press tour with some enthusiasm). Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson has also been discussing the difficulty of telling Natasha Romanov’s story as well as contemplating her future in the MCU. Now, Johansson has explained why she’s not bent out of shape moving on from the role of Black Widow.

Scarlett Johansson has been one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most important and beloved characters for the last decade. Black Widow will be the final appearance of Natasha Romanov in the MCU, and you would think it's probably a big deal to be moving on from something that you have been a part of for a big chunk of your career. Scarlett Johansson discussed why she's actually not too bent out of shape, telling Total Film:

Scarlett Johansson feels like she is leaving the role at a good point, noting she has accomplished a lot as the character, and going out on top is the way to go. Black Widow will transition from one Black Widow to the next, with signs potentially pointing to Florence Pugh becoming the MCU’s new Black Widow. Having no regrets and leaving on your own accord is a luxury, and Scarlett Johannson deserves a hero’s sendoff after the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Scarlett Johansson goes on to say how proud she is of how Black Widow turned out, and she is anticipating what everyone will think when they finally see it. Johansson says she will always love her experience playing Black Widow. There is always the potential for people to come back into play in the comics and the movie universe is probably no different. Still, the finality that Scarlett Johansson has been giving off looks like this might be it for Natasha Romanov on the big screen for now and maybe forever.

Black Widow is Marvel’s big return to theaters since the global shutdown in 2020. To Me, Black Widow is the perfect opportunity for MCU fans to finally get back into the regular experience of seeing Marvel movies in theaters. Black Widow has released its final trailer, and the film previously released an epic clip of Scarlett Johannson and Florence Pugh in an insane car chase.

Black Widow is the theatrical start of Marvel’s Phase Four, kicking off a packed roster of upcoming films. The film is shaping up to be both a send-off and a new beginning for Black Widow in the MCU. July 9th can’t get here soon enough.

On Friday, Avengers Campus opened to the general public at the Disneyland Resort. As one might expect, the land is full of easter eggs and references to Marvel Comics, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and every other corner of Marvel's superhero brand. However, as it turns out, one element of Avengers Campus was actually already seen in the MCU. In this case an easter egg reference went in the other direction. It turns out that the Quinjet seen in Avengers: Endgame was actually designed by Walt Disney Imagineering for Avengers Campus.

I attended a special media preview for Avengers Campus prior to it opening, and during a Q&A session with several key personnel with Walt Disney Imagineering at Disneyland Resort, they were asked what their favorite easter egg in the new land was. Scot Drake, Creative Executive at WDI for the Marvel Global Portfolio, revealed that his favorite easter egg in Avengers Campus wasn't a reference to a comic or film in the land, but an easter egg in an MCU movie that was actually a reference to the land. Drake explained...

The Quinjet in question must be the one seen at the end of Avengers: Endgame when Hawkeye uses it to go home to his family. It seems this particular Quinjet was not designed by people at Marvel Studios, but rather Walt Disney Imagineering, as it is the same design as the Quinjet that now sits atop the Avengers HQ building inside Avengers Campus.

It's not the first time that we've seen Disney's films reference their theme parks, even before the theme park was a real thing. There's a reference to the Black Spires in Solo: A Star Wars Story, which are only found inside Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The movie came out a year before the first theme park land opened.

The purpose of a theme park is to make you feel like when you're inside a land or on a ride that you're really inside the world that space creates. This often means feeling like you're in your favorite movie. Seeing that Quinjet on the roof of the building in Avengers Campus is part of what does that, but knowing that the design was literally in the movie makes it all feel that much more real.

It will be interesting to see how Avengers Campus and the MCU continue to build each other moving forward. It's already been teased that as new characters are introduced in the MCU, many of them will likely appear in Avengers Campus in short order. And now we may need to keep our eyes open in future films for references to the theme park as well.

When I marvel at the jaw-dropping accomplishments of Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Endgame (and I do it often, because I still can’t really believe that this movie exists), I tend to point to one specific scene that melts my brain at the sheer number of things that occur in it. It happens when Captain America (Chris Evans) throws Mjolnir through the air so that Spider-Man (Tom Holland), while holding onto the Infinity Gauntlet, can soar long enough for Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) to catch him on her flying horse and whisk him to safety. How does that exist on screen?!

So of course, Marvel fans on Reddit have now spotted a technical error in that specific sequence in Avengers: Endgame, and I can’t deny that it’s there:

As you can see, when Spider-Man lands on Valkyrie’s flying horse, his left hand appears to hover over her shoulder without actually touching it. You’d assume, this means, that Spidey would fly right off the second Valkyrie begins her nose dive. And he does scream at an unusually high pitch… but he holds on, without ever really holding on.

How does this happen? Well, let’s get into the reality of big-budget, special-effects-driven blockbusters like the Avengers sequels. These characters aren’t really in the same scene together. In fact, in a scene like this, there’s a good chance the actors aren’t involved, at all. Animators, visual effects wizards and graphic designers often build these scenes from scratch in a computer. They may model the actors in CGI suits to somewhat capture their body language. But for the most part, it’s computer-generated imagery.

And whoever was supposed to line up the CGI Iron Spider on the back of Valkyrie’s horse didn’t look at it long enough to realize that they missed the proper alignment. It happens.

The third act of a massive blockbuster like Avengers: Endgame can be a constantly changing and fluid construction, as well. Yes, co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo might know well in advance that they want to create a scene where Spider-Man rides through the air thanks to Mjolnir, but the choreography of the sequence could go through multiple iterations before it’s finalized. This also explains why Giant Man can be seen fighting in the background of the Attack on Avengers Campus scene, even though it had been established that Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and The Wasp (Evangeline Lillie) were in Scott’s van, trying to fix the Quantum portal.

Mistakes happen.

And this is what happens when a movie hits 4K Blu-ray, and fans are able to watch, rewatch, and analyze every frame of a massive Marvel blockbuster like Avengers: Endgame, catching visual wrinkles that are entertaining, and prove that the MCU is fallible. Doesn’t matter to me. I still love Avengers: Endgame more than almost every other movie. Make Mine Marvel.

After the lost year that was 2020, it feels like Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Endgame was released a decade ago, but it's actually only been two years. In fact, it has been exactly two years, as it was on April 26, 2019 that the epic Marvel blockbuster first arrived in theaters around the world. It's an event that fans have been celebrating on social media, and the movie's directors shared some cool behind-the-scenes photos, but Robert Downey Jr. has unquestionably delivered the present of the day, as he has posted footage from the moment when Tony Stark snaps the nano gauntlet and destroys Thanos and his army.

The post on Twitter came with a short and sweet message to fans with the hashtag #ILoveYouAll3000, but it's definitely the video that has our attention. It's only 25 seconds long, and it doesn't feature any dialogue, but you can still get all of the emotion of the moment from Robert Downey Jr's face (not to mention that the sound of the snap emotionally echoes):

It's a cool video to share, and a wonderful look behind the scenes of Avengers: Endgame – but it is worth noting that this isn't the take that is actually featured in the movie. In fact, this is a far more peaceful version of Iron Man's "snap" moment, as his hand raised and his eyes closed give him a look of peace and commitment to what he's doing, understanding that it's a sacrifice.

I could very well be wrong here, but it's possible that the footage shared by Robert Downey Jr. is from the original version of Tony Stark's death – as the moment was notably reshot when Avengers: Endgame was in post-production. It was editor Jeff Ford who came up with the idea for the hero to respond to Thanos' "I am inevitable" with "And I am Iron Man," and the scene was redone on a studio lot in Los Angeles (funny enough, it was the same location where Downey Jr. first screen tested for the Marvel role). What we see in the behind-the-scenes video above may be from the scene that was filmed during principal photography in Atlanta, but unless someone from the production confirms it we won't really know. It also could just be that the star did a variety of takes, including one where he took a peaceful beat after delivering his iconic line. Or this could just be from an on-set rehearsal. Regardless, it's awesome that we get to watch the performance in its rawest form.

Two years ago today, the epic finale to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity Saga was released to the public, with Avengers: Endgame picking up where Avengers: Infinity War left off in 2018. To say that Endgame was successful would be an understatement, as not only did it receive a lot of critical praise, but until just last month, it was the highest-grossing movie of all time. So naturally a lot of people are sounding off about Endgame’s anniversary today, including directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

For their part, the Russo Brothers shared some behind-the-scenes photos on Twitter chronicling the intensive, yet fun process of putting Avengers: Endgame together. Take a look at some of these peeks past the proverbial curtain.

Having already helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and being in the middle of putting Captain America: Civil War at the time, Joe and Anthony Russo were announced as the directors of the third and fourth Avengers movies in 2015. The title of Avengers: Endgame wouldn’t be revealed for another three years, but suffice it to say that anticipation ran high for this movie, especially once Infinity War concluded with Thanos snapping half of all life in the universe out of existence. Well, Endgame certainly delivered as a cinematic spectacle, and even though we’re a couple years separated from its release, it’s nice to see more behind-the-scenes look at its production.

I especially like that picture of Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pom Klementieff and many other members of the production getting a kick out of one of the scenes being shot. As already noted, Avengers: Endgame was a difficult movie to put together, especially considering it shot back-to-back with Avengers: Infinity War. But the end result was a worldwide phenomenon, and it’s safe to say that Endgame remains one of the most talked-about entries in the MCU. Even just days ago, some fans paid for a billboard campaigning for Tony Stark’s death to be undone!

Running at a little over three hours long, Avengers: Endgame packed in a lot, from its starring heroes embarking on the Time Heist to fighting Thanos and his monstrous forces alongside their resurrected allies. Plus, in addition to Iron Man sacrificing his life to save the universe, Endgame also concluded Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff’s stories (although the latter will appear again in the Black Widow prequel movie). This was a story 11 years in the making, and it wrapped up the Infinity Saga with a bang, and Spider-Man: Far From Home served as a nice epilogue a few months later.

But even though Avengers: Endgame has come and gone, the MCU continues to deal with its aftermath. WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Disney+’s first two MCU original series, are set just weeks after Hulk snapped the dusted back to life, and the upcoming Loki series will follow along with the Asgardian God of Mischief who escaped custody following the Battle of New York in one of the alternate timelines. We’ll also soon see heroes like Shang-Chi and the Eternals rise in this post-Endgame world, and you can be sure that movies centered on established characters, like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder, will also reference what went down in the fourth Avengers movie.

Well, that’s one way to get your message across. It looks like there are some fans who weren’t satisfied with how Avengers: Endgame left Iron Man’s story. And while Robert Downey Jr. has seemingly left the MCU behind, that hasn’t stopped superfans from making their voices known.

Both the social media account and said billboard encourage Marvel fans to use the hashtag #BringBackTonyStarkToLife on April 24th, marks the two-year anniversary of Avengers: Endgame.

It seems the Marvel fans behind the campaign want to see Iron Man/Tony Stark get a happy ending in the MCU. A number of characters fell throughout Infinity War and Endgame, including Black Widow. But Tony’s death hit especially hard, and his funeral scene was an emotional one considering Pepper Potts and their daughter Morgan.

While both Natasha and Tony died in Avengers: Endgame, Captain America was given a chance at a happy ending. After returning the Infinity Stones to their proper place in the timeline, Steve went back and lived his happy ending with Peggy Carter. It’s likely due to this that fans want to see Iron Man get the same treatment.

Still, it seems unlikely that Tony Stark would somehow be brought back to life in the MCU. The Russo Brothers have spoken about the importance of real stakes, and that includes death scenes. Tony Stark’s death wrapped up the character’s arc, and showed the real sacrifices that come with saving the galaxy.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for bringing serialized storytelling to the masses, most recently extending the story to TV shows on Disney+. Projects like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier have allowed for a number of characters to be further fleshed out, including Emily VanCamp's Sharon Carter. Sharon appeared in the previous two Captain America movies, notably sharing a controversial kiss with Steve Rogers in Civil War. And she was recently asked how Sharon might feel about Steve going back in time for a happy ending with her Aunt Peggy.

Sharon Carter and Cap shared a flirtation in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, before Civil War revealed that she was actually Peggy's great-niece. The latter movie also made Sharon a fugitive, after stealing information and gear for #TeamCap. And considering Steve got his happy ending with Peggy in Avengers: Endgame, fans are wondering exactly how Emily VanCamp's character is feeling about getting the short end of the stick. The Revenge alum was recently asked about his, saying:

Fair enough. Sharon Carter is simply trying to survive in the criminal world of Madripoor. She's managed to make her life in the lawless setting, and has definitely changed as a person. And for that reason it seems that Emily VanCamp and her character aren't really looking back toward Avengers: Endgame.

Emily VanCamp's comments to EW show what it's really like working in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the rabid fandom has endless questions about the behemoth property, not even the cast has all the answers. This seemingly true regarding Sharon's reaction to Captain America's happy ending, at least for now.

While it doesn't look like Emily VanCamp has an official verdict on Sharon's feelings about Steve Rogers, the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame continue to play a major role in the projects that have followed. The snap, blip and five-year time jump has sent shock waves through the universe, and Sharon Carter is one of the many characters trying to live in the chaos.

It should be interesting to see what comes next for Sharon Carter, and if she ends up returning to the silver screen in Phase Four or Five. Putting the former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent back in the action would perhaps allow for her to finally address that kiss with Captain America, and how she might feel about him disappearing and leaving her a fugitive. Only time will tell.

Generally speaking, we expect our superheroes to be super good people. They always fight for the well being of everybody and they have our best interests at heart. Not only that, they never make mistakes. But hey, if a character in a movie never makes a mistake, they would be boring. So basically everybody in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is flawed in one way or another, and they frequently make mistakes.

As a result, we often see our heroes doing unheroic things. Maybe their back is against the wall and they think they have no choice. Maybe they think that in the end, their choice to do the wrong thing is done for the right reasons. Maybe they just get super pissed off and and lash out. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier recently showed us that even those with the greatest intentions are capable of terrible things. Here are a few times that the heroes of the MCU were slightly less than heroic.

Tony Stark Creates Ultron

It's been something of a trope in comic books, and in comic book movies, that the heroes actually create their greatest enemies. But in Avengers: Age of Ultron, that's literally what happens. Ultron literally would not have existed if Tony Stark hadn't plugged the Mind Stone, which he didn't fully understand, into a computer. The result was a super intelligent being that had the voice of James Spader, and you know that means trouble. By creating Ultron, Tony Stark doesn't simply create an enemy to be defeated. He ultimately sets in motion the events that lead directly to Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Maybe it wasn't a great plan.

Star-Lord Causes The Snap

It's a moment that a lot of people were talking about after we all saw Avengers: Infinity War. On Titan, our heroes put together a plan to take Thanos down and obtain the Infinity Gauntlet, thus saving half the life in the galaxy, and it worked. They swarm Thanos and very nearly pull the glove right off his arm. And then Star-Lord finds out Gamora is dead and loses his shit, and everything proceeds to fall part. To be sure, Peter Quill's complete breakdown is understandable; I sympathize with his situation. We all could have made the same mistake in that situation. Still, if it weren't for him, the Snap might not have happened.

Basically All Of Civil War

When heroes are fighting heroes and friends are fighting friends, you know something has gone horribly wrong. That's what happened when the Sokovia Accords were introduced and all of Earth's Mightiest Heroes had to pick a side. They either joined the new order of things and came in line with world governments, or they could try to remain free and potentially become enemies themselves. We're not here to pick a side, but Captain America: Civil War potentially paints everybody as at least a little bit wrong. And if you're fully committed to one side or the other, than clearly the other side is being pretty unheroic, even if we can all disagree about which side that is.

Hawkeye Becomes Ronin

As with Star-Lord's freak-out in Avengers: Infinity War, I'm not sure anybody would ever blame Clint Barton for going off the bloody deep end when every member of his family was snapped out of existence in Avengers: Endgame, but he was not. However, his particular reaction was perhaps a tad extreme, and certainly not heroic. He goes full-on vigilante, becoming judge, jury, and executioner for every manner of low-life who was somehow lucky enough to not be snapped out existence. Catching the bad guys is fine, but generally heroes are willing to put their faith in the legal system. But when Hawkeye becomes Ronin, that all goes out the window. Exactly how many people were killed at the end of his blade, we don't even know.

Nick Fury Manipulates Everybody

Choosing a single moment when Nick Fury is being unheroic is actually tough. While Fury finds himself one of the "good guys," he's not exactly a good person, like, ever. Nick Fury completely manipulated the Avengers in order to get them to do what he wanted, and that was just one example. He lies to anybody or goes behind their backs when it suits his purpose. Nick Fury will do whatever it takes to get the job done, and while there's certainly value in that, he's also willing to build flying battle tanks to patrol the world if that's what's necessary.

Wanda Mind Controls A Town

The initial setup for Marvel's first MCU Disney+ series, that Wanda Maximoff and Vision were, for some reason, trapped in a seemingly endless series of sitcoms, had an obviously humorous premise. However, the reality of the series was anything but funny. Wanda was hurting in a big way, and in her grief, she inadvertently began to mind control an entire town. It doesn't seem that Wanda did any of this intentionally, and she ultimately did the right thing and let everybody go. However, she was given more than one chance to see the truth and refused, somehow knowing she'd done something terrible. Her grief was understandable, but her actions were ultimately not those of a hero.

Odin Wipes Hela From History

Odin was never an Avenger, but he was presented to us as an ideal hero throughout most of the life in the MCU. Thor and Loki both saw their father as a great leader, and they only wanted to make him proud. Which is why it came as a great shock to them both to discover that Odin hadn't always been the paragon of virtue he appeared to be. He became the ruler of the Nine Realms through a massive war, and when his daughter Hela, with whom he did his conquering, became too much of a problem, he imprisoned her and tried to remove any mention of her from history, not even making his sons aware they had a sister. He fabricated history to suit his own ends.

Doing something bad doesn't make you unredeemable. The truth is that even our greatest heroes, real and fictional, are not perfect. In the end, their flaws are what really make them relatable, and how they overcome those flaws is what truly makes them heroic. At the same time, while we might forgive our favorite MCU characters for their worst moments, we, and they, probably shouldn't forget them.

While Avengers like Captain America and Iron Man see a lot of screen time in Marvel films like Endgame and Infinity War, some of the lesser known Avengers have a little more free time during shooting. When it comes to Anthony Mackie, who has taken back up his role of The Falcon in the ongoing The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series on Disney+, he used his free time on the set of Avengers in a pretty amusing way.

Much like his character Sam Wilson in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie hails from Louisiana and is an avid fisherman. In his appearance on Hot Ones, Mackie is asked what his favorite fishing story is. He says that between shooting for the last two Avenger films he would go fishing on the lakes that were present near set. While it was probably a new sight to behold for other’s on set, it sounds like Mackie had a lot of fun. Here’s how he puts it:

I’m not sure why another would have a problem with Anthony Mackie stretching his wings a little in between scenes - a bird’s gotta fly! Whether it was the fishy smell or just that it may have taken a little extra effort to gather the Avengers for filming if Mackie was MIA, I’m sure supplying fresh fish made it all worth it.

It doesn’t sound like this is a new practice for Anthony Mackie, either. In the same appearance, he tells another story of being on set of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter where he caught a giant 5 foot 5 inch gar fish by tying the line to his truck and driving it out of the water. Apparently, Mackie tries to find time to fish whenever he sees water, it doesn’t matter what set he’s on.

It’s interesting that Anthony Mackie’s The Falcon has been set up by the MCU to be from Louisiana and having grown up on a fishing boat, because that’s actually a diversion from the comics. Originally, The Falcon is not the son of a fisherman, but the son of a reverend from Harlem. It almost seems like the MCU may have changed some details of The Falcon’s story to better mirror the actor playing him. This may be a nice touch, seeing as a lot of Marvel’s characters become pretty interchangeable with their actor.

I find it hard to believe that there’s anything boring about being on set of an Avengers movie, but it is true that Anthony Mackie didn’t see too much screen time during Endgame or Infinity War compared to other Avengers. Of course, he was one of the many dusted characters. It’s his time to shine though, and I doubt he’ll be catching many fish on the set of the phase four’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, seeing as he is one of the titular characters and his presence in the MCU is getting more prevalent. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a behemoth in the entertainment industry, recently expanding to the small screen on Disney+. In addition to fighting Thanos and his forces, the starring cast is also known for their friendships and funny social media banter. Mark Ruffalo and Paul Rudd were able to work with each other on Avengers: Endgame, with Ant-Man and Smart Hulk sharing the iconic taco scene. Rudd is celebrating his 52nd birthday, and Ruffalo wished him well by poking fun at his apparent agelessness. Check it out below.

I mean, same. Paul Rudd is known for aging like a fine wine, so it makes sense that Mark Ruffalo would want to get in on the joke when sending a birthday message. Seriously, he needs to drop the skincare info. Or perhaps its the Nano Gauntlet that gives him such a glow.

Paul Rudd first captured the hearts of audiences in ‘90s projects like Clueless and Romeo + Juliet. He’s had a long and successful career, including a run as a superhero with the Ant-Man franchise. Now Rudd is in his ‘50s, and is arguably in the best shape of his life.

Of course Mark Ruffalo isn’t the only Marvel contributor to wish Paul Rudd a happy birthday. Ant-Man director Peyton Reed also took to social media for the occasion. In fact, he posted a photo of... Donnie Osmond? Check it out.

Well, that's one way of showing love to your co-worker. Peyton Reed and Paul Rudd will once again collaborate on the upcoming Marvel threequel Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. The movie's contents are being kept under wraps, but it should be interesting to see what comes next for Rudd's title character. After all, the world of the MCU has been greatly changed in the wake of The Blip.

In Phase Three Ant-Man was able to crossover into ensemble projects like Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame. The idea of the time heist was ultimately his, although the tech was perfected by Tony Stark. And with characters like Iron Man, Black Widow, and Captain America in the rear view, it's expected that other heroes like Ant-Man will become more important in the overall franchise.

Marvel films have some relatable moments, but personally I feel none of them compare to the moments so far in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. One of those moments was the bank scene in Episode 1 “New World Order.” The scene saw so many facets of today play out in one moment. It triggered the thought-provoking question – do the Avengers get paid? It wasn’t only a "triggering" moment for Marvel fans, but the higher-ups at Marvel as well. Series writer Malcolm Spellman recently revealed the scene caused a huge stir at Marvel Studios, as well as what happened.

The bank scene in Episode 1 was a very real moment playing out in the fictional world of Marvel. The moment spoke to so many people on a personal level, especially in a tough economy. The scene struck a chord with the Marvel higher-ups on the same level. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier scribe Malcolm Spellman broke down to ET how Marvel CEO Kevin Feige and company reacted to the pivotal scene:

As Malcolm Spellman pointed out in the interview, the big and small screen have previously never questioned how Earth’s Mightiest Superheroes make a living. As we learned, post-Blip Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes do not have the safety net of Tony Stark and Stark Industries to cover the costs of saving the world. Being a superhero isn’t your average nine-to-five with benefits galore. It also touched on a long-standing issue between Black America and financial institutions, highlighting conversations Black men and women have experienced in dealing with the loan process. It also proved no matter how famous Sam Wilson is, he is still an undesirable candidate to banks and lenders without regular income.

While Sam Wilson’s fame didn’t help his sister, the much-talked about scene did tap into how fame and success intersect with real-life situations. The banker wanting a selfie with Wilson was a very human moment. Malcolm Spellman explained how that scene spoke to the characters’ humanity:

As Malcolm Spellman pointed out, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan were able to flex their acting skills in moments such as the bank scene. Sam Wilson’s spat with his sister about the family business or Bucky Barnes’ therapy session made these superheroes feel more human compared to their scenes in MCU films. Both characters have been allowed more room to breathe in the Disney+ series. Hopefully, as more episodes come out, Marvel fans will get more moments such as the bank scene for every character involved in the series. Not to be a hipster or anything but I liked Scarlet Witch before she was quote-unquote “cool.” I distinctly remember seeing her in Avengers: Age of Ultron and, as a huge Harry Potter nerd, thinking “it’s about damn time we had some Marvel characters with some magic powers!” Only now is she truly getting the spotlight that she deserves, and honestly I am so thankful for that.

So, to celebrate this newfound hype around one of my favorite superheroes/villains, Wanda Maximoff, I’m going to go over some of her best moments yet from the MCU and of course the latest hit show on Disney+, WandaVision. I’m sure there will be several more in the years to come, but for now, these have been some of the times where I am just in awe of this awesome and phenomenal character.

When Wanda Controls The Minds Of Almost All The Avengers – Avengers: Age Of Ultron

This was one of the first times we ever saw the true power of which Wanda is capable of. At this point, we didn’t think anyone would really be a true challenge for the Avengers. But in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Wanda literally steps into their minds and gifts them their worst nightmare, haunting visions that seriously affect them.

I remember the first time I saw this, I was in awe. It was astounding that one woman could easily manipulate the minds of some of the most powerful people in the universe. And yet, just like that, they could be weakened severely by one vision. Truly a show of the strength she has.

When Wanda Joins The Team – Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Of course we love a character that can go from evil to good to evil – it’s that grey area between them that causes them to step into that line, almost like a Loki of some sorts. That’s why the moment Wanda decides to join the Avengers in the fight against Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron, I was cheering in the theater.

She comes out of this torn apart building, using her powers and swinging around these robots like they were rag dolls as if they meant nothing. It was the perfect way to show that she was on the Avengers' side now while still keeping that relatively badass form that she is as a character.

When Wanda Took Control Of The Hulk – Avengers: Age Of Ultron

But now we go back to villain-Wanda for a moment in Avengers: Age of Ultron when Wanda is able to do this. The Hulk is this big, mean, green fighting machine that doesn’t feel like anyone can take him down. I mean, he himself swung around Loki - God - like he was nothing but a little doll back in the original Avengers.

This is what makes this moment that much more powerful, seeing Wanda send the Hulk off into this murderous rampage by taking over his mind, sparking into his anger, and spiraling him. It takes Tony being in a Hulkbuster suit to somehow stop the damage that the Hulk was causing. Nothing else could calm him. It was an insane moment that again, showed the power which laid within.

When Wanda Attacked Vision – Captain America: Civil War

Now knowing what we know with the two of them, this moment seems all the funnier and cooler. We know they are romantically linked now, and while it was never confirmed in Captain America; Civil War, you could still tell from a mile away there was some chemistry going on between them.

However Wanda was on Steve’s side of the debate after the Sokovian accords, and she knew that in order to help him she needed to escape Vision and the Avengers facility. So she ends up taking him on and sending him right into the ground, despite the bond that they shared. Knowing now of what happened after makes it all the more entertaining. It’s almost like a couple’s fight when you think about it – but with superpowers.

When Wanda Rips Out Ultron’s Heart (After Pietros Death) – Avengers: Age Of Ultron

The emotions that you see in Wanda’s eyes is enough for anyone to put this on their list. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Pietro meets an untimely death by being riddled with bullets, and Wanda feels that to her core, the very moment it happens. Keep in mind that Pietro was her only family left. She lost her parents when she was a child, so she has no one now.

She uses this anger, sadness, and misery all combined to take on Ultron, and when he’s at his weakest, she stares him right in the face and rips out his mechanical heart, crushing it in her hands, as if to symbolize what Ultron’s movement has done to her. She has nothing. But she could at least get vengeance for it in her own way. Beautiful.

When Wanda Sends Proxima Midnight To Her Death – Avengers: Infinity War

I will always say that this was sort of the unofficial girl power moment in the MCU before that forced one in Avengers: Endgame, because of the simple badassery of this scene.

Wanda is on the ropes in Avengers: Infinity War, but through the help of Scarlet Witch and Okoye, they are able to distract Proxima Midnight enough before Wanda sends her into the path of one of Thanos’ machines, killing her instantly. It’s quick, it’s simple, and it shows her powers off and the strength of teamwork. Definitely one of the best moments for her – as well as the other superheroes that helped her too.

When Wanda Has To Kill Vision – Avengers: Infinity War

You know, I didn’t think I’d find myself crying over the death of an android and yet Marvel has somehow brought that out of me. The moment we see Wanda kill Vision in Avengers: Infinity War, we are heartbroken. Well, at least I was. You can see the love between them. You can see how much they care about each other but Vision knows that she is the only one who can somehow try and stop this.

So, she does, hearing Vision say “I can feel you” to reassure her that this is alright while Wanda is crying at the loss of her love. It’s what needs to happen. While she destroys the Mind Stone, she is also simultaneously keeping Thanos away from him, attempting to stop the titan from getting the last stone, all at once, using all of her energy. It’s truly a powerful scene until Thanos goes and ruins it with that Time Stone.

When Wanda Literally Almost Kills Thanos – Avengers: Endgame

Wanda was this close to killing Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. She appeared right in front of him, remarking to him that he had taken everything from her. Thanos’ response? “I don’t even know who you are.”

Wanda responds. “You will.”

And oh my god, it was absolutely amazing to see the power that this woman can wield. She summons the power to bring up debris at Thanos, before using her powers to hit him and disarm him. Then she forcibly takes off his armor bit by bit, causing him to struggle. She was this close to killing Thanos all on her own if it wasn’t for Thanos calling down bombs. He knew he was beaten if he didn’t. Now that was just a tease of the power of which she holds. My god. Now that is how you do a superhero scene. No other Avenger came close to killing him like that – just her.

When Wanda Sends Monica Back To Reality – WandaVision, Episode 4

This was the moment I think everyone knew WandaVision was more than just some recreated sitcom. When Monica lets herself slip when she mentions Ultron to Wanda in her little made-up reality, we see Wanda grow angry and then force Monica out of Westview, using her powers, with barely any hesitation.

It’s an amazing scene, one that really starts to shift the tone of the TV series, and creates a whole new feeling of amazement at this powerful woman.

When Wanda Breaks Down The Reality Of Grief During A Quiet Moment With Vision – WandaVision, Episode 8

“What is grief, if not love, persevering?”

I’m sure as a Marvel fan you have most likely heard that quote at some point over the last couple of weeks. During Episode 8 of WandaVision, we see into Wanda’s past a bit and watch a quiet moment between her and Vision where she reveals the grief she has been going through since the loss of her brother. In an attempt to understand her, Vision simply says that phrase.

It’s quick, almost like a moment where if you weren’t paying attention, you would miss it, but the line is so powerful and speaks volumes to what will happen later on in the show when Wanda loses Vision – instead of saying a real goodbye, she remains hopeful, her own love persevering, speaking “We’ll say hello again.” It’s raw and emotional and everything you would expect from a woman who has truly lost everything – and is trying to somehow gain that hope and life back.

When Wanda Becomes The Scarlet Witch – WandaVision, Episode 9

Chills, I say to you. I got literal goosebumps all along my skin when I watched this scene. We are seeing the climactic battle between Agatha and Wanda in WandaVision, where it seems like all is lost for Wanda, until she turns the tides on Agatha, casting ruins to stop her from using her magic before Wanda takes back all of her power.

At that moment, we see her become the Scarlet Witch – costume and all. She embraces who she really is, and takes Agatha down to the ground, locking her away in her little “nosy-neighbor” lifestyle until Wanda can find a use for her again. Now that Wanda knows who she really is, God only knows what she will be able to do next.

When Wanda Astral Projects In The Cabin – WandaVision, Episode 9

The final post-credits scene of WandaVision starts out simple, with Wanda sitting outside in a cabin before going in and making tea. However, as the scene pans over to a bedroom, we see Wanda floating and reading the Book of the Damned at the same time, seemingly studying exactly who she is and what she can do. And before the screen fades to black, Wanda hears someone yelling “mother!” from another dimension. End scene.

The amount of depth this scene provides speaks volumes. First of all, we already know that Wanda is going to be appearing in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, which will be coming out in 2022, so this moment will most likely tie into that movie. However, something that you might not have noticed is the theme that is playing at the same time of Wanda’s studying is actually the Doctor Strange theme in a much more sinister tone – is it time for villain Scarlet Witch again?

Honestly, I’m down for it. If Wanda can already astral project as Doctor Strange can, who knows what she’ll actually be able to do by the time the movie comes out. I’m so excited.

All of this is making me hyped for the upcoming Marvel movies even more. In fact, I’m going to go and rewatch WandaVision right now because I have to see every single thing I missed.

The race to the top of the global box office chart heated up back in 2019, when Avengers: Endgame became the first film since James Cameron’s Avatar to hold that position, almost a decade later. But the margin of success was thin enough that should Cameron’s groundbreaking hit be re-released into theaters, it could take the title again. Which is why the news of a select Avatar re-release into theaters might be bad news for Avengers: Endgame fans.

We say a select re-release, because according to THR, there’s a “surprise” re-issue of Avatar headed to the Chinese market. With conventional and IMAX 3D also being included in these late-breaking plans to bring back Jake Sully’s journey across Pandora, and with the theatrical market still a bit starved for content, there’s a chance that Avatar might become the head of the pack again. Especially when the number this new round of theatrical release will need to cross to make it happen is roughly $7.4 million.

As things currently stand, Avengers: Endgame is at $2,797,800,564 with its worldwide grosses, while Avatar sits at $2,790,439,092. On a more granular level, $7,361,472 is all that stands between James Cameron becoming the king of the world yet again. But while it may seem handily within grasp, let’s take a look at some factors that might speak to what might help or harm those chances.

If you look at the Chinese film market’s grosses from last weekend, Disney did manage to exceed that threshold, and with a fresh product as well. Raya and the Last Dragon managed to bring in about $8.5 million, which feels pretty respectable in the climate of current events. So while the similar benchmark of performance in the domestic market may feel like an underperformance, it’s a healthy sign that Disney could be onto something with releasing Avatar into Chinese theaters.

Then again, there was already a re-release campaign that put Avatar into Chinese theaters through the Special Edition run that happened in 2010. Even with the effect of the film’s initial blockbuster release still in the air, all that could be mustered from the fans of James Cameron’s sci-fi epic was around $1.5 million. Additional footage and the new 3D boom theoretically should have been able to deliver something larger than that, and yet the Unobtainium mines seemed a bit dry.

$7.4 million in a normal box office market doesn’t feel like that bad of a benchmark, especially for a groundbreaking film like Avatar. But we’re not exactly in a typical frame of business, and as the folks who rallied behind the domestic re-issue of Alita: Battle Angel will tell you, even with high hopes and a low bar to cross, the results might not be what you hoped. Avatar returns to Chinese theaters this Friday, whereas the rest of the world will have to rely on their physical copies or whatever regional streaming service has the rights to bring the film to them, should they want to relive the fun. But let’s just keep one thing in mind for the long run: Avatar 2 doesn’t come out until December 16, 2022; and a domestic, if not worldwide release of Avatar is incredibly likely in the ramp-up to that big event.

When you look Captain America’s rogues gallery, Crossbones is among the more prominent faces, with Brock Rumlow having been a thorn in Steve Rogers’ side in the comics for over three decades. So it made sense when the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced the villain in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, although Captain America: Civil War took him out of the picture just a couple years later. Then Avengers: Endgame came around and provided Frank Grillo the opportunity to cameo as a past version of Rumlow, but as it turns out, the actor originally turned down appearing in the Infinity Saga capper.

Frank Grillo recently stopped by the Lights Camera Barstool podcast to promote his new movie Boss Level, and when the conversation turned to Marvel, he fondly recalled his time working on Captain America: The Winter Soldier with directors Joe and Anthony Russo. Then he said the following about why he initially didn’t want to appear in Avengers: Endgame:

In case you need an Avengers: Endgame refresher, Frank Grillo’s Brock Rumlow appeared during Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk and Ant-Man’s trip to the Battle of New York in 2012, with Cap specifically setting out to retrieve Loki’s scepter, which contained the Mind Stone. Rumlow and his STRIKE team had already obtained the weapon, but Steve Rogers was persuaded them to give it to him by pretending he was a fellow HYDRA operative. It was an amusing scene that initially looked like it would lead to a recreation of the elevator fight in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

But had Frank Grillo stuck to his original guns, he wouldn’t have cameoed in Avengers: Endgame, as he was dissatisfied with what had happened to Brock Rumlow over the course of just two movies. Remember, we didn’t actually see him as Crossbones until the beginning of Captain America: Civil War, and he died just minutes later. So who can we thank for Grillo changing his mind? That honor belongs to his son. The actor continued:

He may have only briefly popped up in Avengers: Endgame, but at least Frank Grillo can now say he participated not just in the biggest MCU movie yet, but the highest-grossing movie of all time. It’s also worth noting that Grillo hasn’t completely left Crossbones behind, as he’s been recording lines for Disney+’s upcoming animated series What If… ?, which explores what would happen if certain MCU moments unfolded differently.

However, as far Crossbones’ live-action future is concerned, Frank Grillo said last month that he doesn’t expect he’ll be brought back. Granted, he also expressed interest during the Lights Camera Barstool interview in seeing Crossbones return to the MCU, whether he reprises the role or someone else takes over. But considering the character’s ultimate fate and how he was a supporting bad guy at best, he’s probably right that Brock Rumlow’s time in the cinematic spotlight is over. Oh well, at least he got to participate in three of this superhero franchise’s most popular movies.

After various delays, Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe finally began with WandaVision. And while that Disney+ just released its series finale, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be here before we know it. Fans are eager to catch up with the title characters of that upcoming series, especially since Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson was given Captain America's shield at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame. And now Chris Evans has explained why the First Avenger made this choice.

Avengers: Endgame was full of twists, as The Russo Brothers ended the Infinity Saga while servicing a massive cast of characters. This was true until the blockbuster's final moments, which saw an old Steve Rogers return after getting his happy ending with Peggy. Captain America gives his signature shield to The Falcon, despite his longer relationship with Bucky. Chris Evans recently explained why Sam was the right man for the job, saying:

Well, there you have it. And considering how many hours Chris Evans has spent playing his character and lugging around Captain America's shield, he's the undisputed expert on the matter. We'll just have to see how the weight of the weapon and its legacy changes Sam Wilson/The Falcon moving forward.

Chris Evans' comments to Variety come in a long-form piece about Anthony Mackie's role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sam inheriting Captain America's shield is a potential game changer for the MCU, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will show what it's like in the franchise without Cap. As soon as the shield became Sam's in Avengers: Endgame, fans began wondering if that meant The Falcon was taking on the mantle of Captain America. The Russo Brothers were the architects of Phase Three's overarching plot, with the entire Infinity Saga coming to a conclusion with Avengers: Endgame. The MCU has finally returned with WandaVision on Disney+, and the Russos recently explained why they weren't setting up that show's events.

Phase Four of the MCU came later than expected, as Black Widow, Eternals, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier were all pushed back. As a result WandaVision kicked things off, and the show has been massively popular on Disney+. The Russo Brothers were recently asked if they were purposefully tying Avengers: Endgame to WandaVision, and Anthony Russo have an honest answer that might surprise fans. As he put it,

Touche. It looks like The Russo Brothers weren't tasked with setting up any future narratives for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And by doing Endgame's directors and writers could throw everything and the kitchen sink into the movie without worrying about what comes next. Clearly that way of working paid off.

Anthony Russo's comments to Comic Book help to peel back the curtain on what it's really like working in the MCU. The Russo Brothers had to service a massive number of characters with their pair of Avengers movies. They did this admirably, but they weren't too concerned about where the heroes of the shared universe were heading next. And as such, they've presumably been able to watch WandaVision just like the rest of us.

Not only is Chris Hemsworth a superhero in the MCU, he’s also a super dad and he may have just gotten something more precious than that Mjolnir he keeps in his bathroom. This week, the Thor 4 actor shared an adorable post from his son talking about how his famous dad is his “special friend.” Cue the awws. Meanwhile, some of the other big superhero celeb dads out there also seemed to enjoy Hemsworth’s post.

The post comes from Chris Hemsworth’s 6-year-old son Tristan. I know this because someone -- assumedly his teacher -- commented on the post with a hearty “well-done” before he assumedly brought his mini-essay home to share with dad. Take a look.

After the post started running around the Internet, Aquaman (and famous dad) himself Jason Momoa seemed particularly touched and commented on the post with a slew of heart emojis. Other famous superhero dads including other Marvel stars Chris Pratt and Robert Downey Jr. also liked the post. And just to make sure the Instagram love included some good Tony Stark and Spider-man father/son juju, Tom Holland was also one of the individuals to catch the post and give it a solid thumbs up.

It’s not super uncommon for the Marvel actors to loosely support one another on social media, but I’m still here for all the dads (and Tom Holland) coming out for this post. Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth is certainly not an oversharer on social media, but his kids do occasionally pop up in posts, including in occasional fun family photos and more.

Hemsworth previously reflected on this ability, saying that he's made the most of his time away from the movie machine.

Yes, now the actor is back to work, but at least he's not far from home. Next up, he may have to travel though. He has that Hulk Hogan biopic, as well as the already announced Furiosa prequel and, of course, Netflix's Extraction 2 in the pipeline. We'll keep you updated as those move forward.

WandaVision has captured the attention of fans because it has such a unique tone to the greater MCU. Just when you thought that you could not have any more reason to look forward to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, its latest trailer seems to have confirmed yet another juicy plot point. The hints have just the right amount of subtle to suggest that the island Madripoor will be brought to life in the long, long awaited series, meaning that it may also bring us that much closer to the introduction of some eXcellent Marvel Comics characters.

The Disney+ exclusive series has already dropped more than enough details to get fans excited for its premiere on March 19, 2021 (a good seven months after its initial projected release date - Thanks, Covid!). We already know, in addition to Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s reprisal of the title roles, that Daniel Bruhl is returning as Baron Zemo along with Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter and that Wyatt Russell is joining the cast as John Walker, a.k.a. U.S. Agent. However, the introduction of Madripoor into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is an especially big deal.

Of course, more casual Marvel fans are probably wondering what is such a big deal about this place with its shady, remote location and neon, night-life aesthetic and, better yet, what is it exactly? I can answer those questions about Madripoor, and more in regards to how it may relate to the plot of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier below. The following is a quick, comprehensive breakdown of six of the island’s most essential facts, starting with a lesson in economics.

The Capital Of Madripoor Is Divided By Class

Dreamt up by Marvel writer Chris Claremont and illustrator Steve Leialoha and first appearing in a 1985 issue of New Mutants, Madripoor might have gotten its name from its location in the southern part of the Strait of Malacca and southwest of Singapore, in Southeast Asia. The Island is described as a place “for the very rich and very poor,” as most evident by its largest city.

Also called Madripoor, the capital inhabits two separate cities in one: Hightown - the luxurious, high-tech community reserved for the wealthy citizens - and Lowtown - a crime-ridden, nearly barbaric land only open to the less fortunate. However, a grossly unequal socioeconomic reputation is not the only thing the island is guilty of.

Madripoor Has A Notorious Criminal History

Whether you reside in Hightown or Lowtown, any establishment of law is scarce. In fact, it could easily be inferred that Madripoor’s achievement of becoming of one of the top business capitals of the Pacific Rim was not entirely by the book, so to speak. Yet, that is almost by tradition.

In its infancy, the island was a safe haven for pirates - which is somewhat reflected today by its refusal to extradite criminals to other nations where they are wanted. Not to mention, there have been many massive conflicts over Madripoor’s control, one of which resulted in HYDRA temporarily taking over and Viper (then known as Madame Hydra) dubbed ruler. She is not the only famous Marvel villain who has made themselves at home on the island.

Magneto Built His Own X-Mansion On Madripoor

There was one time when Mystique attempted to convert Madripoor into her own safe haven for mutants by flooding it with a power-granting hormone. Fellow Marvel baddie Magneto would later have a similar idea that did not involve the mutation of unwilling participants, but with a despicable hidden agenda, nonetheless.

The mutant constructed a variation of the X-Mansion in Hightown, which acted as headquarters for a group of time-displaced X-Men that he was secretly trying to send back, unaware they were preparing for the moment he may double cross them as well. However, neither Magneto nor Mystique are even the most famous mutants with ties to Madripoor.

Wolverine Co-owns One Of Madripoor’s Hottest Entertainment Spots

One of Madripoor’s greatest claims to fame, at least among readers, is Wolverine’s involvement with its history. The island has appeared in several issues of the Adamantium-clawed hero’s self-titled comic book series, one of which would reveal his anonymous position as co-owner of The Princess Bar - an unusually lavish establishment for its Lowtown location that includes such fine dining and prime entertainment to even attract the attention of Hightown residents by night.

Given its unsurprising criminals ties, it is quite possible that The Princess Bar is the same after dark attraction where a fight appears to break out in the latest Falcon and the Winter Soldier trailer, which almost convinces me that this may mark Wolverine’s MCU induction, or be a major clue to it, at least. That is actually not the only reason I have to suspect this.

Wolverine, Captain America, And Black Widow First Met At Madripoor In World War II

Madripoor has become the site of many fascinating moment Marvel Comics history. Few, however, are as monumental as the initial meeting of three of its most iconic characters. In the September 1990 issue of Uncanny X-Men titled “Madripoor Knights,” a flashback to the Second World War sees island resident Logan come to the aid of Steve Rogers and a Russian man named Ivan Petrovich Bezukhov, who reveals assassin group the Hand has kidnapped the young girl he swore to protect named Natasha Romanoff.

Clearly, the events of this team-up could not be recreated in their exact form without breeching MCU canon. Yet, the chances of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier at least paying tribute to it (maybe with Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes substituting Captain America and Black Widow) is exciting and, perhaps, more likely than another unique fact about the island.

Madripoor Actually Rests On The Head Of A Giant Dragon

Remember in Avengers: Age of Ultron when the titular, cybernetic villain turned the Sokovian capital Nova Grad into, basically, a giant hovercraft? Well, it turns out that Madripoor also has “mobile capabilities,” the means of which are far more "Lovecraftian."

In Avengers World #1 from 2014, it is revealed that the entire island, measuring approximately 100 miles in diameter, is actually the head of a dragon that had laid dormant in the surrounding waters until the Hand woke it up. This is something that I would kill to see brought to life in the MCU, even if it was resorted to a dream sequence or something like that. However, I think the Hand probably has a better chance of receiving mention, which likely could happen on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

How fascinating that the mere glimpse of an obscure, remote community from Marvel comics in upcoming TV show would open up so many doors of possibility for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, this is certainly not the first time that a canonical Disney+ series has achieved just that. We can only imagine now what other hints and revelations regarding The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will come to light once it finally becomes available to stream in March and, until then, we at CinemaBlend will continue to work hard at keeping you updated.

Avengers: Endgame may not have been the end of The Avengers or the Marvel Cinematic universe, but it sure was an end of an era and the last appearance of some of our favorite heroes. Endgame ultimately marked the capstone of a ten-year run for the cast/crew and would be the last film some would work on together. While the creation of the blockbuster was sure to be an emotional endeavor for all involved, apparently there was an incredibly liberating aspect of creating Endgame for directors Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, as well as writer Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

At the point of Endgame, the directors had already worked on a number of the Avengers movies together. While it’s an advantage for sure to work with the same people creatively to tell a long-running story, Anthony Russo tells Lights, Camera, Barstool that it was nice to be able to work together to wrap up their story without worrying about the future. In the director’s own words:

As sad as it is to hear the continuation of a fan-favorite storyline and beloved characters a burden, we get it. The Avengers and all of the different character arcs were a massive undertaking. The directors had to look back almost as much as they had to look forward. Not only were there different backstories and angles to consider from their Captain America movies, but they had to think about all Marvel films going back to the first in phase one to make connections.

Not only did the directors have a huge job with their MCU films, but they basically had all eyes on them. The reputation of Marvel is overwhelmingly positive by fans, and the pressure to make each film better than the last is very real. There was no doubt a ton of relief when Avengers: Endgame managed to be even more successful than Infinity War.

As liberating as Endgame may have been for the directors, it was a bittersweet film for the rest of us, an epic end of an era. That doesn’t mean fans don’t have a lot of Marvel goodies to look forward to, though. A number of series are in the works for some of our favorite heroes. WandaVision is currently streaming on Disney+ with 3 more episodes set to air. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, and Loki are all new Marvel series set to release this year as well, among others. With every end there is a new beginning, and that is very much the case with the MCU.

Now, a new popular theory indicates that the live-action series might have a secret connection to Captain Marvel's haircut in Avengers: Endgame.

But a new theory indicates this new look might not be simply for fun, but have a deeper meaning. To get into this, we'll be diving into some side spoilers from Disney+'s new series WandaVision. Specifically, fans are wondering if Carol Danvers shaved her head in solidarity with her friend Maria Rambeau before she eventually died of cancer.

This theory comes to us from Inverse, and is sure to resonate emotionally with fans if true. The fourth episode of WandaVision revealed that Monica Rambeau was turned to dust as a result of Thanos' snap, eventually returning years later via The Blip. To her horror, her mother Maria died during that five year period, and she missed it. But could her mother Maria have had support in the form of Captain Marvel? Only time will tell.

Marvel audiences currently have no indication as to what happened to Carol Danvers in the years between Captain Marvel and her eventual appearance rescuing Tony in Avengers: Endgame. It seems logical that she was keeping track of Maria's health, especially after The Snap wiped out half of all life. We'll have to see if this fan theory is confirmed in Captain Marvel 2 or WandaVision.

It's more than possible that this fan theory will remain just that, and that Captain Marvel's sweet new haircut in Avengers: Endgame was merely meant to show how much time had past. Plus, it was a comic book accurate look that delighted purists, especially while she was going toe to toe with Thanos himself. Fans will need patience to see exactly what Brie Larson's signature Avenger was doing in those decades after her origin story.

Teyonah Parris's Monica Rambeau is already expected to play a major role in Captain Marvel 2, so many of these lingering questions will likely be answered. It's also unclear how Monica's story in WandaVision will play out, but that'll no doubt heavily factor into the upcoming sequel. Hopefully we get even more connections to Avengers: Endgame in the process.

The actors spent the past decade or so doing several MCU films together, including the Avengers film series and solo films. Renner’s Hawkeye shared many scenes with Hemsworth’s Thor and Downey’s Iron Man either kidding around or kicking butt. Almost two years after the last Avengers film was released, Renner took to Instagram to show a behind-the-scenes photo of himself, Hemsworth and Downey on the Avengers: Endgame set. As evident by Jeremy Renner’s Instagram post, the three actors were having some downtime while shooting Avengers: Endgame. In the photo, the actor was only one step away from full Hawkeye mode while Chris Hemsworth was halfway made-up as overweight Thor. It was a relaxed moment for the three, given Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr. throwing up the devil horns. Sharing this behind-the-scenes moment was able to show the close bond the Avengers cast had (and continue to have). Despite his departure, Downey has maintained his MCU connection by paying tribute to the late Marvel founder Stan Lee. In recent months, he has looked back on playing Iron Man and relating to the man inside the suit.

Jeremy Renner’s throwback photo captured a moment in the MCU. Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame set the stage for Marvel’s Phase Four slate as Robert Downey’s Tony Stark sacrificed himself to save the world. While Renner and Chris Hemsworth remain within the MCU, Avengers: Endgame marked Downey’s final appearance, despite some rumors suggesting otherwise. As the MCU continues without Downey, Renner will headline a solo series on Disney+, while Hemsworth will star in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Seeing Jeremy Renner’s photo showed an intimate moment between friends at work. The photo showcased the bond the three men formed over a decade of filming together. Seeing the actor along with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth on the set will make Marvel fans nostalgic for some more Avengers films. Admittedly, when I first saw that Apple was releasing a streaming service, I rolled my eyes and said, “God, not another streaming service” and didn’t get a subscription for some time. But then, Ted Lasso came out, and if anyone knows me, I love sports about as much as I love writing, and when I discovered that the series was about a Division II college American football coach who starts to coach actual football, I was like “Alright, sign me the heck up.”

Not only has Ted Lasso had great reviews for the performances of the actors, the story, and the pure optimism of the main character made this show a hit from the start, and while I feel that everyone at some point has seen Jason Sudeikis, the Ted Lasso cast is versatile and amazingly talented and they've been in a slew of different movies, shows, and other projects. From comedy movies to big-time TV hits, this is where you’ve seen the cast of Ted Lasso before.

Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso)

The star of Ted Lasso has been around for some time, and honestly, I’m surprised it took this long for him to get his own TV series. Jason Sudeikis has starred in multiple movies and TV shows, but we can just take a look at some of his most memorable.

First of all, he was on Saturday Night Live from 2005-2013 not only as a cast member but also a writer and had some guest roles on 30 Rock. From there, he went on to have starring roles in We’re The Millers, Hall Pass, Horrible Bosses (both the first one and the second one), and plenty more. Sudeikis also stepped into the voice work world when he went on to be in The Angry Birds movie, as well as its sequel.

If you’re looking for something that might tug your heartstrings, however, Sudeikis has also had a main role in the coming-of-age comedy/drama, Booksmart, so there’s no doubt that Sudeikis has some range, even with his main roles usually revolved around comedy.

Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton)

Oh, Rebecca. I have to admit I wasn’t surprised at her evolution over the course of Season 1 of Ted Lasso, but I have to admit that it still made me smile, as almost cliché as it was. I think that was because Hannah Waddingham did such an amazing job at the role, but only when I looked up who she was before Ted Lasso was my mind blown.

Alright, for all my Game of Thrones fans, this will make you freak. Did you know that Waddingham was actually Septa Unella? You know, the member of the Most Devout and the septa that quite literally tortured both Margaery Tyrell and Cersei Lannister? Yeah, I didn’t know either and practically jumped out of my bed.

I was shocked to see this, considering it was such a different change of pass for an actress, but that just shows how great Waddingham is. If you haven’t seen Game of Thrones, however, you might have seen Waddingham in the most recent remake of the classic 12 Monkeys TV series, or the Netflix comedy, Sex Education, so she has her acting chops spread all over the map. Who would have thought?

Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins)

I love Leslie. He’s such a dork but also the hardest worker I think I have ever witnessed on TV, and Jeremy Swift brings that awkwardness with a side of charm easily on Ted Lasso.

This isn’t Swift’s first time on TV though, as he’s had roles in both Downton Abbey as Septimus Spratt, and the British TV series, Being Human as Emil Parsons, so it’s clear that Swift has had some experience along with the acting world.

But in regards to movies, you might have seen Swift as a spaceman in Jupiter Ascending way back in 2015, or you might have seen him possibly as a lawyer in the Disney sequel Mary Poppins Returns. Since then, however, it seems Swift is fully devoted to Ted Lasso, for now, so we’re going to see Leslie around for a long time.

Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt)

Oof. That’s all I have to say about Jamie.

Nah, I’m not that mean, but Jamie in Ted Lasso is definitely a man to be worked on throughout the show and needs a serious attitude check multiple times. However, that doesn’t mean that Phil Dunster, the man behind Jamie Tartt, is just as bad.

Dunster is relatively new to the film world, but that doesn’t mean that he’s been in anything not seen. Most recently, you might have seen him Murder on the Orient Express, even if the role was a bit minor compared to some of the others. He also recently had a co-starring role in the biopic film about Judy Garland, Judy, one film that went on to get nominated for multiple awards.

In terms of TV, Dunster has had a couple of appearances in TV shows, such as portraying Count Andrei Razumovsky in Catherine the Great, a British miniseries talking about the famous ruler of Russia. Ted Lasso, however, is his first step into the sports world though.

Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent)

Okay. Raise your hand if you hated Roy at first in Ted Lasso but over time you came to like him. raises hand.

Again, another character that really rubbed my buttons the wrong way at first but, unlike Jamie, he really won me back by the end of the season, and that’s thanks to Brett Goldstein.

Like Phil Dunster, Kent is relatively new to the film and TV world, having only been in work for about a decade now compared to some of the others on this list. Even so, he’s had plenty of guest appearances on popular shows that might ring a bell for you. For example, he’s been on Drunk History, the comedic retelling of historical events on Comedy Central, the beloved Doctor Who, and a couple of British sitcoms such as Derek and Drifters, so the small screen is familiar territory for the actor. Ted Lasso, however, it where Goldstein really shines in my opinion.

Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard)

Admittedly, when I first saw Coach Beard in Ted Lasso, I thought he was going to be like the character cliché he portrayed – amazingly cringy and not done well, but over time I actually genuinely began to like his more nuanced personality, and that’s all because of Brendan Hunt and his excellent delivery.

For fans who don’t know, Hunt is actually one of the co-creators of Ted Lasso, so he’s been around for some time as a writer. Even so, Hunt has had a couple of acting roles that you might have seen him in, including Sudeikis’ We’re the Millers as well as Horrible Bosses 2.

Hunt has also had guest appearances in multiple hit sitcoms, such as NBC’s Community, How I Met Your Mother, and Key and Peele, so Hunt is no stranger to the ways of comedic television. It was only a matter of time before he brought those talents to his own show.

Nick Mohammed (Nathan Shelley)

I adore Nathan so much in Ted Lasso. He’s like the epitome of an awkward guy who only wants to be appreciated, and Nick Mohammed does a fantastic job of bringing that sort of shy but sweet characterization to the man. But Nathan has been around in some pretty big films that you might have seen him in.

In regards to drama, Mohammed has appeared in the 2015 space hit, The Martian, as well as The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. He’s also appeared in Bridget Jones’ Baby and has done some voice work acting as Piglet in the most recent adaption of the classic character, Christopher Robin.

Something else that Mohammed shares in common with a couple of other stars on this list is that he has also appeared in Drunk History as well. No wonder he’s so funny in Ted Lasso.

Juno Temple (Keeley Jones)

When I first saw that Juno Temple, who plays Keeley Jones, was in Ted Lasso, I knew that name sounded very familiar, and for good reason, as her career is full of familiar titles. 

One of her earliest debuts was in The Three Musketeers as Queen Ann back in 2011, followed by appearances in multiple other big-time movies. For superhero lovers, you might have seen her in The Dark Knight Rises, one of the more famous Batman adaptions. If you’re a Disney fan, Temple had a role in the Maleficent sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. For drama, Temple had a role in Wonder Wheel, showing off her acting chops, so it’s clear she has plenty of range. You maybe have also seen her in Atonement, Horns and the HBO series Vinyl. 

And of course, she also has appeared on Drunk History in the past. I’m beginning to see a trend here.

James Lance (Trent Crimm)

Trent Crimm in Ted Lasso is someone I can hold a bit of respect for considering I don’t think anyone would have taken someone like Ted Lasso seriously at first if this was a real-life situation. Even so, James Lance brings a bit of humanity to an otherwise stoic journalist.

James Lance has guest-starred in multiple British TV shows. Some of his roles being in shows titled Being Human and the ITV drama Boy Meets Girl, alongside the popular British actor, Martin Freeman.

Anthony Head (Rupert Mannion)

Well, we can all collectively agree that Rupert in Ted Lasso is an absolute piece of human garbage, but that doesn’t mean that Anthony Head is like that at all. In fact, I’d say that Head is a pretty cool dude, and his filmography reflects that. 

You might have seen Head in a couple of popular films, including Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, as well as Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. But, if superhero or fantasy films aren’t your cup of tea, maybe Oscar-nominated films are, as Head had a role in The Iron Lady.

Among his most prominent roles, Anthony Head played Buffy's watcher, Rupert Giles, in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But as of recently, he’s been in Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime and Drunk History like many of his co-stars here.

Andrea Anders (Michelle Lasso)

I’ll always think that their story was pretty depressing compared to the happy, upbeat show that is Ted Lasso, but I think Michelle Lasso is actually a much needed character to balance out the titular character. Andrea Anders does an excellent job of showing that family dynamic, and how unfortunate a divorce can be on a family.

Anders however has been around for some time, and Ted Lasso is not her first go-around of the TV sitcom. Anders has had roles in Joey, the Friends spinoff, as well as Mr. Mom, and a starring role in Better Off Ted.

She also had guest spots on Modern Family and Young Sheldon, so there’s plenty of comedic parts out there where fans of the show might have seen her – even if most were a little less dramatic than Ted Lasso.

While we all wait for Season 2 of Ted Lasso, we might as well do some hunting on where our favorite stars are. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go and watch multiple episodes of Drunk History.

Melissa McCarthy first started to win the heart of millions on Gilmore Girls as the lovable chef Sookie. McCarthy has long passed the days of Stars Hollow. She’s now one of Hollywood’s most bankable actresses. Melissa McCarthy has appeared in movies like Bridesmaids, Spy, and The Heat. She’ll be gaining even more fans when she takes on the role of Ursula in the live-action version of The Little Mermaid.

The Little Mermaid isn’t the only upcoming project Melissa McCarthy has coming out in the next couple of years. She has a few high profile TV shows and films coming soon, including one where she co-stars with Nicole Kidman. Here are some upcoming Melissa McCarthy projects.

Cocktails And Tall Tales With Ina Garten And Melissa McCarthy - March 26, 2021 (Completed)

Cocktails and Tall Tales with Ina Garten and Melissa McCarthy is a Discovery+ original special. Famed chef, the Barefoot Contessa Ina Garten has a one-on-one conversation via video chat, with McCarthy for this special. Both women’s husbands are also supposed to join in on the conversation, making it more of a fun double date. Food Network is creating this special, and it was already filmed in East Hampton, New York, and Sydney Australia (where Melissa has been for a few months).

Cocktail and Tall Tales with Ina Garten and Melissa McCarthy involves the women mixing up new cocktail concoctions, getting to know each other, plenty of jokes, and possibly some other food recipes being shared. It’ll be a one-episode special that you can stream exclusively on Discovery+ on March 26th.

Thunder Force - Spring 2021 (Completed)

Thunder Force is an action-comedy co-starring Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer. McCarthy’s husband Ben Falcone wrote and directed this film. It’s a Netflix original movie that’s about two estranged best friends who develop powers that help them protect their city. Thunder Force’s cast includes Jason Bateman, Bobby Cannavale, Pom Klementieff, and Melissa Leo.

What’s On Netflix gave a more detailed synopsis of Thunder Force. Basically, in the world of Thunder Force, super-villains terrorize the city until scientist Emily Stanton (Octavia Spencer) develops a way to give her and estranged best friend Lydia (Melissa McCarthy) powers. They team up and become the first superhero team. Netflix hasn’t released an official streaming date, but it appeared on Netflix’s look ahead for 2021 video, so it’s definitely coming out in 2021, likely in the spring.

The Starling - 2021 (Post-Production)

The Starling is another Netflix original movie coming in 2021. It was acquired by Netflix after a $20-million deal. According to Deadline, it was purchased after releasing a four-minute promo reel. Ted Melfi directs The Starling. It stars McCarthy, Kevin Kline, Chris O’Dowd, Timothy Olyphant, and Daveed Diggs. O’Dowd and McCarthy play a married couple Lily and Jack who try to rebuild their relationship after suffering a tragedy.

Jack sets off to deal with his grief, while Lily stays home. Jack creates a garden for Lily that brings her much anguish as she becomes obsessed with killing a starling that has nested there. Netflix mentioned it on its 2021 movie list. It’s expected to be released in 2021, and Deadline predicts probably around award season. Since award season is a little different from previous years, it probably won’t be aiming for this year’s Oscars, but maybe next year, so a fall 2021 release would be a good guess.

Nine Perfect Strangers - 2021 (Post-Production)

Nine Perfect Strangers is a miniseries coming to Hulu. It’s based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, who also wrote the Big Little Lies novel. David E. Kelley is the show creator and it will be directed by Jonathan Levine. Nine Perfect Strangers has an all-star cast that includes Nicole Kidman, McCarthy, Luke Evans, Samara Weaving, Michael Shannon, Manny Jacinto, Regina Hall, and Bobby Cannavale.

The Nine Perfect Strangers book follows nine strangers as they all end up at a health and wellness retreat, run by a charming guru. These nine people are very different but all have reasons for going to the retreat. They are supposed to have 10 days of relaxing, mindfulness pampering, meditation, and more. Of course, things don’t go as expected. We don’t know how closely the Nine Perfect Strangers miniseries will follow the boos, but it will likely keep the basic premise. Hulu hasn’t announced a release date, but it’s expected to be released in 2021. If I had to guess, based on the nature of the content, I would say it’s probably a summer 2021 series.

The Little Mermaid - Unknown (Filming)

The live-action Little Mermaid is one of the most anticipated reboots. In January 2021, Javier Bardem, who plays King Triton, confirmed that filming for The Little Mermaid had begun. The film was supposed to begin filming in 2020, but due to COVID-19, it was delayed. Since filming on The Little Mermaid is still at the early stages, it is very unlikely that it will be released in 2021, especially since Disney has announced many of its major movies coming out in 2021.

The Little Mermaid follows the story of teen mermaid Ariel (Halle Bailey) as she risks everything to be with Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King). She saves Eric from drowning and then makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy). Ursula gets Ariel’s voice in exchange for Ursula giving her legs to walk on land. The Little Mermaid live-action cast also includes Javier Barden, and voice-overs by Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, and Awkwafina. The Little Mermaid will possibly be released in 2022 or 2023.

God’s Favorite Idiot - Unknown (Announced)

In December 2020, it was announced that Netflix and Melissa McCarthy were teaming up again. The streaming service ordered a comedy series called God’s Favorite Idiot. It’s being produced by McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone. The series will star both of them, and they will also direct and executive produce. Falcone plays a tech support employee, Clark Thompson, who finds love with his co-worker Amily Luck (McCarthy). This love story happens at a weird point for Clark because he just became God’s messenger.

The show promises an impending apocalypse, so sign me up. God’s Favorite Idiot will have 16 episodes in Season 1. God’s Favorite Idiot hasn’t begun production yet, and likely won’t start until after The Little Mermaid concludes filming. Therefore, this series will likely premiere anywhere between late 2021 and 2022.

If you’ve been following along with Disney+’s WandaVision, you’ve likely gotten used to each episode of the show opening with a cheerful sitcom theme song. That was not the case with the most recent episode, as “We Interrupt This Program” instead opened with a look at the real world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. WandaVision wound the clock back to show Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau being brought back to life by by The Blip, which Hulk triggered during Avengers: Endgame.

It was an emotional way to kick off the most informative episode episode of WandaVision yet, and now one Marvel fan has shown the The Blip unfolding in real-time across the Disney+ series and Avengers: Endgame. Take a look at what Twitter user Gugga Leunnam put together:

In case you need a refresher on the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Thanos used the Infinity Stones to snap half of all life in the universe out of existence, and just a few weeks later, he destroyed the Stones so that his genocide couldn’t be undone. Five years later, the reemergence of Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man, led to him, Hulk and the other surviving MCU heroes embarking through the Quantum Realm to obtain past versions of the Infinity Stones to wish everyone back into existence. As you can see in the above video, the heroes weren’t able to enjoy their success long, as the past version of Thanos launched an assault on the New Avengers Facility soon after.

As such, WandaVision marked the second time the MCU directly explored people being resurrected by The Blip, following Spider-Man: Far From Home. However, while the 2019 web-slinging movie took a more comedic approach showing the event, WandaVision focused on the chaos of people who’d disappeared years earlier suddenly reappearing in an instant. For Monica Rambeau, it felt like she’d just dozed off for about 20 minutes following her mother Maria’s successful surgery, but not only did she soon learn that half a decade had passed, but Maria had passed away during that time.

We’re coming up on the two-year anniversary of Avengers: Endgame’s release, but with WandaVision having only just kicked off Phase 4, and all the announced forthcoming live-action MCU projects (except for Black Widow) being set after Endgame, there will be no shortage of opportunities to keep exploring the aftermath of The Blip. Who knows, with four more episodes to go in WandaVision, perhaps we’ll see what being reformed was like from Wanda Maximoff’s perspective. Remember, when she was turned to dust, she was holding Vision’s corpse in Wakanda, so it must’ve been weird for to “awaken” and see that her android boyfriend’s body gone, and then immediately jump into battle.

New episodes of WandaVision premiere Fridays on Disney+ (if you’re not subscribed to the Mouse House’s streaming service, you’re welcome to use this link to remedy that). Looking to MCU films, Black Widow is still slated for May 7, 2021, followed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on July 9 and Eternals on November 5. After nearly a decade of character development for Chris Evans’ Captain America in the MCU, audiences got an arguably perfect sendoff for the Marvel hero thanks to Avengers: Endgame. The Russo Brothers’ film wrapped up the storyline of Steve Rogers with a happy ending that had him going back in time to return the Infinity Stones and returning to his beloved Peggy for a lifetime of dances. Until we heard a report that Evans may be in talks to already return to the MCU.

Deadline claimed that Chris Evans is in “talks” to reprise his role within the Marvel Universe “in some form,” which the actor disputed with a tweet that just read “news to me.” So it’s a slippery slope to say Captain America’s return is concrete, especially when there is a lot more evidence pointing to Evans officially moving away from the iconic character and the MCU set to introduce a slew of brand new characters into the franchise. But speculation is always fun, so let’s talk about the confirmed Marvel projects that might make sense to include Cap if the reports do turn out to have merit. We can do this all day!

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

The most straightforward approach Marvel could take to bringing back Chris Evans is by continuing where Endgame left off and including more Old Man Cap to Falcon and the Winter Soldier. At the end of the movie, Steve gave over his shield to Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, therefore passing off the torch to Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky. This story will pick up with the upcoming Disney+ series named after the pair as they fight off Zemo.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier align the most closely with Captain America and if there’s one place where a return may be merited, this series could be the right place. It could either be through a guest appearance where Sam and Bucky pay their elderly friend a visit to tie the knots or a flashback that fills in some gaps of the storyline. Old Man Cap seemed quite content to be on his way by the end of the 2019 Avengers film and since the first season has already wrapped and is coming this March. This could be possibly be something being discussed should the show continue.

Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness

Another possibility in the mix concerns one of the most highly-anticipated and widely-theorized movies of Marvel’s Phase Four. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will apparently feature Stephen Strange opening the multiverse somehow. The movie will directly follow the events of Marvel’s first TV series currently unfolding on Disney+, WandaVision and involve Strange “unleashing unspeakable evil” whilst continuing research on the Time Stone.

The multiverse allows for a wild card of events that could be taking place, including alternate versions of characters we already know. While the conversation has steered into the Spider-Verse more often than not since Doctor Strange is part of the untitled third Spider-Man film, Multiverse of Madness could technically bring Chris Evans’ Captain America back via the multiverse. Though in that case, he wouldn’t necessarily be himself and could even be a villain.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantamania

Chris Evans’ Captain America could also squeeze his way back into the Marvel Universe by way of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the recently announced third installment of the Ant-Man films starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfieffer and Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang. The movie is confirmed to feature Lovecraft Country star, Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, who is often defined by his abilities to time travel.

Traveling through time was obviously a huge part of Endgame and something that Quantamania is sure to explore again through its massively powerful villain. Depending on where the timelines move in the upcoming film, Captain America could most definitely play a part if things end up intersecting with points when he is alive and wielding his shield. We still don’t know a ton about what’s in store with the next Ant-Man film, but that’d be a solid place for Cap to return.

Secret Invasion

Another newly announced project that could include Captain America should the studio decide to have him return is Disney+ series Secret Invasion set to star Samuel L. Jackson’s Fury and Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos from Captain Marvel. Here’s another project that we don’t have a ton of details about, but fans of Marvel Comics will know the Secret Invasion storyline well as one that involves shapeshifting Skrulls taking over the identities of well-known heroes in order to infiltrate the Avengers.

One Reddit fan theorized that the appearance of Old Man Cap in Avengers: Endgame was actually a Skrull rather than Steve Rogers himself. And while I’d refute the MCU’s ability to play us that hard, Chris Evans being somehow involved in Secret Invasion’s plot line could be really interesting and basically a great way for the actor and Skrulls to punk us somehow. I’m too emo about the Endgame ending to suspect it isn’t true, ok?

A Steve And Peggy Spinoff?

And finally, perhaps Chris Evans comes back but not in the form of any of these already established projects. What if he gets his own spinoff? This seems to be the least likely of the list, but fans have certainly been talking about all the plot holes involved in Cap going back and returning all the Infinity Stones at the conclusion of Endgame. Some of you would like to see Cap actually finish the job and that could be a good way to bring back Evans and still keep the legacy of the character in play.

The shot of seeing Steve and Hayley Atwell’s Peggy dancing together was enough for me to know it all ended well for Cap, but there is some room there for the MCU to explore in terms of how he found Peggy again and spent his alternate timeline.

Ok, so what do you think? I keep leaning toward leaving Evans alone as he moves to other projects and the MCU explores new characters within the universe, but some of these could serve as cool ways to bring Captain America back! Warning: SPOILERS for the latest episode of WandaVision are ahead!

In March 2019, less than two months before Avengers: Endgame arrived to deliver the Infinity Saga’s explosive finale, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans took a trip to 1995 to learn the origin story of Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel. Along with seeing younger versions of familiar faces like Nick Fury and Phil Coulson, Captain Marvel also introduced plenty of new characters, including Maria “Photon” Rambeau and her daughter Monica, with the former being one of Carol’s oldest friends and a fellow Air Force pilot.

Monica Rambeau was a kid during the events of Captain Marvel, but as an adult (played by Candyman’s Teyonah Parris), she’s a major player in Disney+’s WandaVision. Unfortunately, for those of you who were hoping to see an older Maria Rambeau reunite with Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel 2, there's some bad news to break, and it touches on the tragic side of Avengers: Endgame’s fallout.

Monica Rambeau Was Part Of The Blip

WandaVision’s latest episode, “We Interrupt This Broadcast,” wound the clock back to show how Monica Rambeau ended up in Wanda Maximoff’s freaky Westview sitcom fantasy, and the S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient Weapon Observation Response Division) investigation that followed. But before all that unfolded, the episode began with Monica being brought back to life by The Blip, i.e. when Hulk used the Infinity Stones In Avengers: Endgame to undo Thanos’ genocide of half of all life in the universe. Confused by the chaos within the hospital she woke up in, Monica tried to track down her mother’s whereabouts, as from her perspective, it hadn’t been that long since Maria got out of a successful surgery.

But The Blip occurred five years after Thanos’ reign of terror, and while Monica Rambeau was among those who turned to dust, Maria Rambeau survived. Upon finding Maria’s doctor, Monica learned that that her mother’s cancer came back and she died three years ago, i.e. two years after Monica disappeared. Before she died though, Maria, who was revealed to be S.W.O.R.D.’s founder, implemented guidelines to be activated in the event that personnel, including Monica, returned. That day eventually came, but sadly, Monica never reunited with her mother.

How Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home Depicted The Blip

Although we witnessed Hulk use the power of the six Infinity Stones procured from the Time Heist to snap those who’d been turned to dust back to life in Avengers: Endgame, we never actually saw any of the dusted reformed. It was only when Scott Lang noticed the renewed wildlife outside the Avengers’ base and Clint Barton got a phone call from his wife that it was confirmed that Hulk was successful, but immediately afterwards, the time-displaced Thanos and his army launched a devastating attack. With a climactic conflict, Tony Stark’s death and various loose ends to be tied up in the aftermath, it made so that Endgame didn’t delve into the Blip beyond showing the joy of so many loved ones being alive again.

As such, Spider-Man: Far From Home was the first MCU project to direct address the ramifications of the Blip, but it was handled with comedically. Amateur video footage showed people who’d disappeared half a decade earlier suddenly reappearing and freaking everyone out. On the flip side, we also saw the passage of time for those who stuck around best represented through Brad Davis, who was a nerdy middle schooler when Peter Parker, MJ, Ned Leeds and Flash Thompson, but by 2023 was a popular high schooler. But between Peter Parker still grieving Tony Stark’s death and having to deal with Mysterio’s machinations, Far From Home didn’t give the Blip a lot of attention.

WandaVision’s Depiction Of The Blip Was Heartbreaking

WandaVision’s “We Interrupt This Broadcast” was the first time that the Blip was shown through a tragic lens. Yes, it was great that trillions of people were resurrected, but their return was just as chaotic as when they were snapped away, if not more so. Five years after the Snap, Earth, and presumably every other civilization in the universe, had accommodated life going on without these absent people, and now they they had to contend with these instantaneous returns without any preparation. But on a more personal note, the Blip represented lost time.

Look at what happened to Monica Rambeau. Before she was dusted, she was waiting for her mother to be discharged from the hospital. To Monica, it seemed like she only nodded off for about 20 minutes, but when she “woke up,” Maria had been dead for years. You can be sure that she wasn’t the only one who came back to life and learned that a loved one, or many, died during the time they were gone. What’s even more sad is that Maria Rambeau didn’t live to see the day that her faith was rewarded, with Monica and everyone else coming back like she predicted.

With the exception of Black Widow, all of the officially announced upcoming MCU movies and TV shows are set after Avengers: Endgame. So there won’t be any lack of ways for the aftermath of the Blip to keep being explored, although it remains to be seen how many of those projects will do so (personally, I’d like to see what Clint Barton’s family life is like in the Hawkeye series now that his wife and three children are back). As for WandaVision, it remains to be seen if the Blip aftermath in any way factors into Wanda Maximoff’s trauma and why she’s taken over Westview, or if this primarily rooted in her struggling to cope with Vision’s murder. In any case, while it’s been nearly two years since Endgame’s release, the most recent WandaVision episode reminds us that the events that unfolded within the three-hour movie will continue to impact the MCU for years to come.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a place with plenty of surprises, and actor Paul Bettany certainly understands that firsthand. Because after voicing JARVIS for years in the MCU, Bettany was able to make his live-action debut when Vision came to life in Avengers: Age of Ultron. And it turns out that director Joss Whedon originally wanted the actor's signature Avenger to be anatomically correct during his introduction, complete with a penis.

Joss Whedon directed the first two Avengers movies, with the filmmaker's tenure in the MCU coming to an end with Age of Ultron. That blockbuster introduced a slew of new characters, including Wanda and Vision. Paul Bettany's hero appears more than halfway through the movie's runtime, making a dramatic entrance with his red and green skin on full display. Bettany recently shared the story of Whedon originally insisting that Vision's genitals were visible. As the actor put it,

Talk about some bizarre FOMO. Vision's entrance into the MCU in Avengers: Age of Ultron instantly found him as a member of the group, but it turns out that we could have gotten a far more NSFW version of this scene. At least if Joss Whedon's original vision was seen through. Luckily the filmmaker eventually came to his senses.

Paul Bettany's funny story about Avengers: Age of Ultron comes from his recent appearance on the podcast Lights, Camera, Pod. While promoting his leading role in Disney+'s new series WandaVision, the conversation eventually turned to his first live-action appearance in the MCU. It's an unbelievable behind-the-scenes scoop, and shows how much changes along the way when major blockbusters are in production.

Vision coming to life complete with an anatomically correct penis definitely would have been a bold adult departure for an MCU movie. What's more, it likely would have resulted in plenty of comparisons to Watchmen, and Doctor Manhattan's glowing blue private parts. In the end Joss Whedon changed his mind, and Vision's big entrance in Age of Ultron came sans penis. You can watch Bettany tell the story in the video below.

Vision's life seemingly ended in Avengers: Infinity War, when Thanos ripped the Mind Stone from his head in the Battle of Wakanda. And while he was absent from Avengers: Endgame, Paul Bettany's time in the shared universe hasn't ended just yet. In fact, he is currently starring opposite Elizabeth Olsen in WandaVision on Disney+. We'll just have to wait and see exactly what the heck is happening with the hero in that mysterious series.

In total Paul Bettany appeared in a whopping six Marvel movies thus far, either voicing JARVIS or playing Vision. He's truly been there since the beginning with Iron Man, and has a special place in fans' hearts for that reason. But it's unclear if WandaVision will be the actor's final appearance, or if we'll be able to see Vision again sometime in the future. Only time will tell.

Before the premiere of Disney+’s WandaVision on January 15, the last we’d seen of Paul Bettany’s Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, with his lifeless body resting on Wakandan soil after Thanos ripped the Mind Stone from his head. When Avengers: Endgame arrived a year after Infinity War, Vision, alive or otherwise, was nowhere to be seen. However, apparently there had been plans at one point for Endgame to lay the groundwork for Vision’s return.

While partaking in IMDB’s “Ask Each Other Anything” segment with WandaVision costar Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany was asked if he thought he would return to the MCU following Vision’s death. The actor said the following as part of his answer:

Outside of Scarlet Witch indirectly referring to Vision a few times after she was brought back to life, Avengers: Endgame was Vision-less, so one wouldn’t have been faulted for thinking that his story was truly over once the Infinity Saga finale was over. As it turns out, there were plans during Endgame’s production for Vision’s corpse to be shown, thus teasing the android eventual return. Following Avengers: Infinity War’s release, fans had speculated that Shuri had somehow been able to download Vision’s key information into Wakanda’s databases during her efforts to remove the Mind Stone from his forehead without killing him, so it certainly would have been interesting to see Vision’s memories downloaded back into either his repaired original body or a new body.

Ultimately though, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige decided to scrap the body bag scene, and Avengers: Endgame even broke MCU tradition by not including any kind of mid/post-credits tag (outside of the sound of a hammer striking metal being heard, a callback to Iron Man). Paul Bettany was certainly hopeful that Vision would “reanimate” after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, and he knew it was wise to trust Feige’s plans, but eventually it got to a point where he only 10-15% sure he’d return to the MCU. When the day came that Bettany was called into the Marvel Studios offices to talk about WandaVision, he initially thought he was being fired since his contract was up.

Not so, and now we’re following along with Vision and Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff on the small screen rather than in a theatrical setting. Granted, it still hasn’t been revealed yet how Vision is alive again and participating in these sitcom shenanigans with Scarlet Witch. Is he really there, or is he just a figment of Wanda’s reality-altering powers. We’ll have to wait and see how WandaVision answers that question and more in the coming weeks, but perhaps in another universe, Kevin Feige decided to keep the body bag scene in Avengers: Endgame, leading to Vision being put back on the MCU board in a different way.

It’s easy to film a death scene if you know that your character is going to be coming back. Especially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where characters we’ve seen lay down their lives on screen find a way to return, including Paul Bettany’s Vision, currently the star of the Disney+ series WandaVision. Bettany, however, didn’t know that he was going to get a chance to come back for a television series when he had to film that brutal death scene at the hands of the Mad Titan, Thanos (Josh Brolin), in Avengers: Infinity War. He mistakenly believed that Marvel would bring him back in Avengers: Endgame, until Kevin Feige laid out his grand plan. Listen to the story in our exclusive clip above.

Even before Paul Bettany expressed a hope that Marvel Studios somehow would figure out how to “reanimate” him, he tells a very funny story about his contract being up, and him thinking that he was going to get fired. You can’t fire Paul Bettany. He literally is one of the longest-tenured actors in the MCU at the moment, having started way back in 2008 as the voice of Tony Stark’s JARVIS in Jon Favreau’s Iron Man.

I, too, assumed that Vision would get a chance to fight alongside all of the other Avengers in the final battle staged against Thanos in Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Endgame. There was a moment back in Infinity War when Shuri (Letitia Wright) was racing to remove the Mind Stone from Vision’s forehead, and I assumed that key information regarding the android had been stored in Wakanda’s databases, allowing the Avengers to somehow resurrect their teammate.

Alas, that was not “on the cards,” as Paul Bettany explained, and then he went on to say that as he learned, it is just smart to trust in the guiding hand of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Bettany said:

As I joke in the clip above, “Kevin is right” is an excellent tattoo to get if you are a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or even just a fan. Feige has succeeded in shepherding the MCU through 23 films that made up The Infinity Saga, and is transitioning the world into an exciting new Phase that begins with Marvel’s first foray into sitcom television. There’s no telling what else Marvel Studios could try under Feige’s leadership, and there are 11 movies and 12 TV shows on the docket including WandaVision, so MCU fans will be stocked with content.

Do we find it strange that none of us are questioning how and why Vision is just “back” at the start of WandaVision? That should be weird, right? Unless this story somehow takes place before the events of Avengers: Infinity War? The hardest part about WandaVision is going to be waiting week to week to see the juicy mystery play out, but we are off to a great start.

I’ve never experienced anything like it in a theater. Captain America (Chris Evans), overwhelmed, picks himself up off of the ground. He prepares to face Thanos (Josh Brolin) when suddenly, he hears a voice. “Hey Cap, it’s Sam,” the Avenger hears in his ear. “On your left.” It’s what has become known as The Portals Scene from Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Endgame, and it gives me chills every time that I think about it. Or watch it. And especially when I watch one of those incredible reaction videos where an opening weekend crowd reacts in unison to Portals, and the return of all of the “snapped” Marvel superheroes.

You know who else watches those videos and gets emotional? Marvel President Kevin Feige, who told me during a recent press day for WandaVison that he went to see Avengers: Endgame with a crowd three times. And that moment still hits him in all of the feels, but for a very specific reason. Watch his video above for the answer.

I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that I’ve never seen an audience react that like to a movie in a movie theater. Marvel fans watching the conclusion to the Infinity Saga treated Avengers: Endgame like a rock concert, screaming and cheering and hollering at the screen as their favorite characters returned from the “dusting.” Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) gets a massive cheer. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man usually gets a loud cheer when you rewatch the audience reaction videos. And of course, when Cap (Chris Evans) whispers “assemble,” the audience tends to lose it.

For Kevin Feige, though, that moment (and the footage) means something else. To him, it’s a reminder of the communal experience of enjoying a movie together, like so many of us did for Avengers: Endgame, but haven’t in a long while thanks to the theaters being shutdown. Feige told CinemaBlend:

This partially explains why Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have been so rigid about maintaining theatrical windows for movies like Black Widow or Eternals, not allowing them to go to Disney+. He wants to create memorable theatrical experiences, and we WANT him to give those to us. WandaVision is totally different, and works very well for television. But we are chomping at the bit to get back to a point where we all can enjoy an MCU story together on the big screen. Hopefully by May.

As the final chapter of the Infinity Saga (with Spider-Man: Far From Home serving as a nice epilogue), it was expected that Avengers: Endgame would be the most action-packed movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet. But even then, few could have predicted how wild things would get in the fourth Avengers movie, especially when it came to the final battle between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Thanos’ forces. As it turns out, that climactic conflict could have gotten even crazier through a team-up involving Spider-Man, Hulk and Giant-Man. Man, my FOMO is through the roof right now.

Marvel fans, you know about the Fastball Special, right? That’s where Colossus hurls fellow X-Men member Wolverine towards a target the same way a baseball pitcher throws a fastball. Well, imagine a Fastball Special being performed by Spider-Man, Hulk and Giant-Man. Are you having trouble envisioning that? In that case, take a look at the below artwork from Marvel Studios’ Head of Visual Development, Ryan Meinerding, that was shared on Reddit:

Giant-Man tossing Hulk would be enough to wreak havoc on the battlefield, but at the speed that Hulk would then toss Spider-Man, Peter Parker might as well be a bullet. Alas, this take on the Fastball Special just didn’t make the final cut of Avengers: Endgame. Since all three of these heroes are still running around the MCU, perhaps there’s a chance this action scene could be realized in the future. That said, with so many heroes in this franchise boasting super strength, there are a lot of Fastball Specials combos that could be pulled off in the coming years, should the MCU filmmakers decide that’s worth the effort.

The Fastball Special wasn’t the only Ant-Man/Giant-Man-related Avengers: Endgame concept that didn’t make it to the screen. We could have also seen Scott Lang commanding an army of giants ants during the final battle, and they would have been sicced on a Chitauri Leviathan. Still, considering that Endgame ultimately showed us Scott punching a Leviathan in the face and squishing Black Order member Cull Obsidian, I’d say he came out of that final battle looking like a badass.

While Avengers: Endgame marked the end of Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow’s stories (although the Black Widow movie will flash back to what Natasha Romanoff was up to between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War), Spider-Man, Hulk and Ant-Man all have bright futures ahead of them in the MCU. The third standalone Spider-Man movie is currently shooting, and will reportedly feature heavy-hitters like Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus. Scott Lang will return in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will introduce Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror and see Kathryn Newton taking over as Cassie Lang.

Turning to Bruce Banner/Hulk, he’s set to appear in Disney+’s She-Hulk series, which will also include the return of Tim Roth’s Abomination. As for if we’ll ever see an original Fastball Special in the MCU, the X-Men are expected to be introduced to the superhero franchise someday, though there’s no specific timetable on when that will happen. Whether that lineup will include Wolverine and Colossus remains to be seen, though Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said that the MCU’s take on mutants will differ from what 20th Century Fox delivered.

It’s a popular debate amongst Marvel fans: Do you prefer Avengers: Infinity War, or Avengers: Endgame? Personally, I view them as two halves of one miraculous whole, stories that go together and really work best when thought of as one sustained fight between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Thanos the Mad Titan (Josh Brolin). That doesn’t stop people from arguing over it, and so I put the question to Scarlet Witch herself, Elizabeth Olsen, as she promoted the upcoming Disney+ series WandaVision. Is she an Infinity War girl, or an Endgame girl. Olsen’s answer is in the clip above.

You might think that this is obvious. Elizabeth Olsen had far more to do in Avengers: Infinity War. She and Vision (Paul Bettany) were on the run during the movie, as the Avengers tried to keep The Mind Stone out of Thanos’ hands and IN Vision’s head. When asked to choose between the blockbusters, Olsen told CinemaBlend:

Yes, it’s true that Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) vanished in The Snap, so she spent the bulk of Avengers: Endgame in the void where the “deceased” heroes were left. It did mean that she she got to be a part of the incredible “Portals” moment in Avengers: Endgame, returning to the screen with the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, arguably, the coolest moment in Scarlet Witch history occurs in Avengers: Endgame, so I thought she might choose that movie just because of this:

The future is bright, but uncertain, for Elizabeth Olsen. Scarlet Witch is stuck in a bizarre construct where she and Vision (Paul Bettany) are living an alternate life that resembles American sitcoms from different generations. Who is doing this to Wanda? And what, actually, is happening?

WandaVision is the first of 12 new television series that are coming to Disney+ from here moving forward. They accompany 11 feature films that the MCU has announced, so after having a year off, Marvel Studios is back in full force. Look out for WandaVision when it comes to Disney+ beginning on January 15, lasting nine original episodes and feeding right into the Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.

Since the end of the Infinity Saga, old Marvel Cinematic Universe concept art has found its way onto the internet. Most times, this never-before-seen art is a gift to the fans from the concept artist themselves. A major figure who does this the most is celebrated concept designer Jerad S. Marantz, who recently shared some concept art for Avengers: Infinity War nemesis Thanos.

As the main antagonist for the Avengers, Thanos caused chaos throughout Infinity War and Endgame as everyone was after those pesky Infinity Stones. To say Thanos was intimidating is an understatement. His nonchalant demeanor and massive size made him the perfect nemesis for the Avengers as the Infinity Saga ended. The character’s introduction in Infinity War caused a splintered Avengers to come together to keep him from claiming Earth as his own. With the Avengers films done (for now!), Marantz took to Instagram to share an even more intimidating Thanos. Check it out:

According to Jerad S. Marantz's post, this version of Thanos was more about blocking out shapes and “work on the manikin,” though he mentions loving to show off "the process" of creating iconic character designs. The final design, as pointed out by Marantz, incorporated some of his design to Thanos’ warrior look in both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. As an MCU fan, I can see the similarities between the concept art and what viewers saw on the big screen. The fact that he could work out the design through 3D modeling is a plus – most studios probably would have moved on to another artist.

The concept artist has done quite a bit of work for the MCU. He has worked on the final two Avengers films and X-Men: Apocalypse. He has worked more extensively with Warner Bros. and DC on films such as Shazam! and Justice League, in addition to this work.

Infinity War and Endgame saw Thanos’ reign end (along with Captain America and Iron Man R.I.P.) The days of Thanos’ terror may be over, but that doesn’t mean the MCU is. Despite being delayed due to COVID-related theatre closures, Phase Four is scheduled to start with Black Widow on May 7, 2021. It will be followed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on July 9. Eternals will premiere on Nov. 5, 2021 and the second Spider-Man sequel on Dec. 17, 2021. Thor: Love and Thunder will arrive on Feb. 11, 2022 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on Mar. 25, 2022.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a behemoth presence in the film world over the past decade and change of movies. By Phase Three it became a well-oiled machine, with every single installment resulting in critical and box office success. Chief among them was The Russo Brothers' Avengers: Endgame, which is currently the highest grossing movie of all time. The movie featured the tragic death of multiple characters, most notably Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark/Iron Man. And now the actress who voices his AI system FRIDAY has revealed her own emotional reaction to this plot twist.

In the final moments of Avengers: Endgame's epic final battle against Thanos, Iron Man is able to steal the Infinity Stones from the Mad Titan. He snaps Josh Brolin's character and his forces out of existence once and for all, but the radiation that came from wielding the stones ultimately kills him. Actress Kerry Condon voiced the role of Tony's AI FRIDAY for a whopping five movies starting with Avengers: The Age of Ultron. She recently spoke about her time in the MCU, and the experience of filming her last line during Tony's death scene. As she put it,

Same, though. It's still hard to imagine a MCU without Iron Man, and the character's death in Avengers: Endgame is one of the most heartbreaking moments in the entire franchise. And it was one that broke actress Kerry Condon's heart while recording her role as FRIDAY. It was sad for more reasons than one, including professionally.

Kerry Condon's comments to Collider offer a glimpse at what it's like working within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After revealing how much imagination her role took due to unfinished CGI and spoiler secrecy, the Better Call Saul actress went on to explain her disbelief that Iron Man was getting the axe in Avengers: Endgame.

I'm not crying, you're crying. Iron Man's death scene continues to hit hard a year after Avengers: Endgame's release. This is largely due to the fantastic performance by the actors, with Tom Holland and Pepper Potts adding a ton of emotional weight. Kerry Condon got to participate herself with FRIDAY breaking the news that Tony's body was shutting down. It's tender and sad, despite being uttered by a piece of artificial intelligence.

It should be interesting to see how the MCU functions without beloved characters like Captain America and Iron Man. The results of Tony's sacrifice were tackled throughout Spider-Man: Far From Home, but it's sure to be further expanded once Phase Four finally kicks off. We'll just have to wait and see if Kerry Condon's FRIDAY manages to make any future appearances.

At long last, Disney+ is finally coming to Brazil in November 2020, giving millions access to a seemingly endless well of content to explore. Once the service goes live in the South American nation, subscribers there will finally be able to enjoy shows like The Mandalorian, all of the movies and upcoming originals from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, decades of Pixar films and delightful shorts, all of the classic Disney releases, and so much more.

But when exactly will Disney+ be coming to Brazil and how will subscribers there access the popular streaming service that first launched in the United States and other territories in November 2019? Here is some handy information that will answer those questions and more. Here's how to watch Disney+ in Brazil.

When Disney+ Will Be Available In Brazil

Disney+ will launch in Brazil and other Latin American countries like Argentina, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Panama, Costa Rica, and Mexico starting November 17. At that point, region restrictions for the Disney+ website and application will be lifting, giving subscribers in those countries access to the popular streaming service, opening up a treasure trove of content dating back to Disney's first animated works from nearly a century ago.

Once November 17 rolls around, all Brazilian subscribers will have to do is go to the Disney+ website, sign up for an account, and start enjoying all the great movies and shows from the Disney catalog. As was the case in other regions, Disney+ comes with a 7-day trial for all new subscribers.

How Much Disney+ Will Cost In Brazil

Once the streaming service launches later in November, a Disney+ subscription will cost BRL$27,90 every month or BRL$279,90 for a year if paid in full. There is a special deal that is currently available, however, and it takes a considerable amount off the annual cost of the membership.

If you pre-order Disney+ in Brazil now until November 17, you will only have to pay BRL$237,90, which equals out to BRL$19.83 a month. It should be noted that a discount is only applied to the annual subscription and not those paid each month. Also, those who look to take advantage of this pre-sale will not be eligible for the 7-day trial of Disney+.

Does Disney+ Offer Brazilian Portuguese Audio And Subtitles?

One point of concern that seems to be brought whenever a streaming service launches in a new territory is if content will be made available in the native language. Disney+ already has quite a few titles with the option of having the audio or subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese (or a combination of the two). This means that new shows like The Mandalorian, the newer Star Wars movies, and entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe can be enjoyed in the subscriber's native language.

Not everything in the Disney+ library has this language option, so you will need to check before you start each movie, show, or special.

What Is Included With The Disney+ Subscription In Brazil

By the time Disney+ launches in Brazil on November 17, The Mandalorian Season 2 will already be three episodes into its eight-episode run, so new subscribers will want to catch up before Episode 4 premieres on November 20. Outside of that, Disney+ subscribers in Brazil will be able to watch the new original Marvel Cinematic Universe shows like Wandavision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier when each of those premiere at some point in the near future. And that's just the beginning.

Whatever you do, don't forget that Disney+ will be available in Brazil starting November 17, but also remember that you can sign up in advance and get a nice discount for doing so.

There are so many incredible moments in Avengers: Endgame. I mean here we are, about a year and a half after its release unpacking more hidden behind-the-scenes facts about it. Although much of what we see on screen was carefully crafted by the Russo Brothers and other Marvel filmmakers involved in the making of the superhero team-up masterpiece, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson just revealed an awesome one that was improvised.

The filmmaker took to Twitter to share a small, but quite memorable detail that Benedict Cumberbatch told him about. Check it out:

Whoa, I love this! According to the director, one of Doctor Strange’s final moments with Tony Stark was a small moment that Benedict Cumberbatch thought of on the fly on set. It’s the scene right before Robert Downey Jr’s character is finally able to take hold of the Infinity Gauntlet and defeat Thanos and his deadly master plan once and for all.

It’s also an important moment because it allows the audience to connect to a key scene in Avengers: Infinity War where Doctor Strange reveals privately to Tony Stark the very tight chances the Avengers have of beating Thanos and saving the one half of the universe he snapped out of existence.

Benedict Cumberbatch may not be singing his own praises, but were lucky Scott Derrickson took to social media to share the improvisation with us. There are actually a lot more moments like this in Endgame then you might expect. Karen Gillan totally improvised throughout in her scenes with RDJ playing paper football, and Downey had a number of his own lines, including the “liar” moment in the beginning, and his final scene went through many iterations before it made us sob on the big screen.

Sadly, Scott Derrickson will not be returning to direct the Doctor Strange sequel, but he remains a producer on the film. Spider-Man’s Sam Raimi is taking the reins for Multiverse of Madness, which is getting ready to film right now. It’s going to be exciting to see the legendary director bring his mixture of horror and superhero experience to the highly-anticipated followup.

There aresome especially intriguing elements surrounding Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, since Disney+’s Wandavision will be connected to it and Benedict Cumberbatch reportedly has a role in the third Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland. The connection has fans theorizing that Steven Strange will help Spidey meet up with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of the character.

Although it was unclear what Shuri’s fate was at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame quickly cleared up that that Letitia Wright’s character was among the many casualties of Thanos’ infamous snap. Fortunately, thanks to Hulk undoing the Mad Titan’s genocide, Shuri and everyone else who was turned to dust are back among the living, and now we’ve learned what the Wakandan genius has been up to following Endgame’s explosive events.

A new book has been released titled The Wakanda Files, which details Shuri’s scientific research into various corners of the MCU, including how there might be more to Scarlet Witch’s powers than initially assumed. As far as what Shuri has been personally working on, the book (via Syfy Wire) reveals that she’s been looking into a way to synthesize the Heart-Shaped Herb, the plant that gives Black Panther his powers.

As you’ll recall, during his brief rule as Wakanda’s king in the Black Panther movie, Erik Killmonger ordered that the entire supply of the Heart-Shaped Herbs be burned. Fortunately, Nakia was able sneak out a sample so that T’Challa could later regain his powers, but if the Black Panther mantle is to be passed on to future generations, then it’s up to Shuri to figure out how to regrow the plant.

So how’s this endeavor coming along? Well, Shuri’s managed to create a synthetic Heart-Shaped Herb and has contemplated mixing it with vibranium, but she mentions that she can’t do much more until she’s able to study a sample of the original plant, which is obviously difficult to come by. Shuri also mentioned that she’s looked into Extremis research conducted by the late Maya Hansen. Granted, Extremis’ use in Iron Man 3 caused a lot of people to explode, but Shuri is interested in the idea that if you treat “the human brain like a supercomputer,” then you can make it think “that it has the abilities of cytokini and auxin in plants,” and thus be able to regrow lost appendages.

If anyone can solve the mystery of growing a new crop of Heart-Shaped Herbs, it’s Shuri. Between being one of the smartest people on Earth (if not at the top of the list) and having access to all of Wakanda’s advanced technology, she stands a good chance of discovering a solution to this difficult problem, thus ensuring that future individuals who become Black Panther will be able to gain abilities like enhanced strength, speed and stamina, just like their predecessors did.

Leitita Wright is expected to reprise Shuri in Black Panther 2, which will also see the return of Danai Gurira as Okoye and Martin Freeman as Everett Ross. That said, the sequel is now finds itself in uncertain waters, as Chadwick Boseman passed away in late August. It’s unclear yet if the T’Challa role will be recast or if a different character, such as Shuri herself, will take over as Black Panther, but Wright recently made it clear that she and everyone else attached to Black Panther 2 are still mourning Boseman.

Assuming Black Panther 2 does move forward though, then you can count on Shuri playing an integral role, though we’ll have to wait and see if her research into the Heart-Shaped Herb is directly addressed. Who knows, maybe by the time the events of the sequel begin, she’s already solved that problem, and whoever’s serving as Black Panther has been properly empowered for some time.

When you’re having to edit a massive film like Avengers: Endgame, there’s no doubt a ton of footage will hit the cutting room floor. Butone monumental scene that got cut featured both Robert Downey Jr. and Cursed star Katherine Langford. And she recently revealed the cool way she prepared for her scene that eventually got deleted.

Right after Tony Stark’s final scene in Avengers: Endgame, there was a planned scene with Tony Stark meeting his grown-up daughter Morgan Stark in an vision. Katherine Langford was cast in this role and they filmed the scene, but it didn’t make the cut. Now in an interview with THR, she revealed what she and Robert Downey Jr. did to prepare:

I’d imagine it would be pretty cool to just be on the Avengers: Endgame set, not to mention have a brief opportunity to work with Robert Downey Jr. Even though her scene got cut, Katherine Langford seems grateful to just have been briefly apart of the magic. And we did eventually see the footage thanks to streaming.

For those who haven’t seen it, the deleted scene, that ended up on Disney+, showed Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark entering the same metaphysical station that Thanos had when he met a younger Gamora. Except, for Tony Stark, he got to meet an older Morgan Stark. In the emotional scene, Tony Stark questioned his decision, but Morgan Stark reassured him he made the right one.

So, why did they get rid of it? Turns out, the Russo Brothers liked the idea at first, thinking it would be a nice mirror image of Thanos’ scene. However, the more they thought about it and saw the scene take place, they realized the audience didn’t have a relationship with Tony Stark’s older daughter. They moved away from it at that point, ultimately giving it the ax.

Katherine Langford has opened up about this short-lived role in the past. Her feelings haven’t changed about the experience, saying it was one of the coolest things she’s been able to do and is happy just to have the memory.

Before all this was revealed, Katherine Langford’s casting in Avengers: Endgame was under extreme speculation and fan theories. Some fans believed she might end up playing Kate Bishop alongside Hawkeye. There are several quotable lines sprinkled throughout Black Panther, though Letitia Wright gets one of the best ones. Towards the third act, when T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) brings Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman) to Wright's Shuri to be healed, the actress quips, "Great! Another broken white boy for us to fix!" It's a very punchy, funny line, and according to the actress, it was actually her suggestion. As she admitted in an interview with Yahoo, she asked director Ryan Coogler if she could throw that line into the mix. Thankfully, Coogler thought it was "perfect" and told her to say it. It was a good thing he did, too. This line is easily among the film's most memorable and enjoyable, and it helps make Wright's entertaining character even more charming and endearing that she already was during the film's earlier moments.

She Is Already Getting Great Reviews For Her Performance In Steve McQueen’s Upcoming Miniseries, Small Axe

The future is looking bright for Letitia Wright. In addition to all the exciting roles lined up in her future, including the upcoming Hold Back the Stars with John Boyega, she's slated to star in Steve McQueen's highly-praised mini-series, Small Axe, which hits Amazon Prime on November 20th. In the first installment, titled Mangrove, Wright plays Altheia Jones-LeCointe, who became a leader of the Black Panther Party in the 1960s and 1970s. This introductory film premiered at the New York Film Festival prior to its streaming debut, and this performance was hailed as "great" and "powerful" by critics who've seen the movie. There was a time when only the hero could be the most charming character in a comic book movie, but that would change forever with the casting of Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the central antagonist of both Thor, which introduced him as the God of Thunder’s adoptive brother, and The Avengers. All thanks to his performance as fan favorite Marvel baddie, his career riding high enough at this point that he would have to be truly desperate to come to the DC movies for help.

With the upcoming release of the Disney+ exclusive series Loki, in which Tom Hiddleston will reprise his beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe role, it is clear that the 39-year-old, British actor has no reason reason at the moment to switch comic book franchise. Yet, there is a part of me that kind of wants to see him make a DC transition, at least sometime in the near future, and purely because there are so many characters (good and bad) whom he would be a perfect fit for. There actually was a time, however, when at least some of us were convinced that Tom Hiddleston’s MCU career might be over after all when the God of Mischief was strangled to death by Thanos (Josh Brolin) in the introductory cold open for Avengers: Infinity War in 2018.

How about, for the sake of conversation, we imagine that the Loki did not achieve his impromptu inter-dimensional escape in Avengers: Endgame, Hiddleston is still looking for a job, and the DCEU has a few positions they have left open for his consideration? Six characters who either have yet to be officially introduced into the DCEU or in a live action adaptation at all (or would even just be fun to imagine him playing) come to mind, starting with one whose big screen debut always seems to fall through the cracks when it to gets closer to reality.

Sandman

Speaking of reality, an omnipotent being called Dream (who also goes by many other aliases) specializes in all things that are not real. In fact, the member of the Endless, who was created in 1989 by the brilliant Neil Gaiman as a reimagining of DC’s Sandman title, is actually the personification of all the dreams we experience as we sleep and the stories we create - meaning he could literally get inside your head and manipulate you into doing whatever he wanted, among many, many other things as well. In other words, Sandman would have quite a few things in common with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, if he was not such an ass.

Christopher Chance

Tom Hiddleston received great acclaim in AMC’s miniseries adaptation of John Le Carré’s novel The Night Manager. His Golden Globe-winning performance as a hotel supervisor turned spy convinces me that if DC were to give the green light to one of their coolest espionage titles, Human Target, they should consider him as the lead character, Christopher Chance, who has been previously adapted for TV, most recently, in two Arrow episodes and in his own short-lived Fox series that depicted him as a typical bodyguard instead of a master at impersonating innocent people wanted for dead, hence the “human target” persona. I think that putting Hiddleston in the role on the big screen (while staying faithful to character, too) would be a well-deserved step up.

Andrew Bennett

There was a time when vampires seemed in need of a “step-up” for a while after the Twilight craze came and went, but with MCU’s reboot of Blade coming up and Jared Leto in the title role of Sony’s Morbius, bloodsuckers may be back in business. Naturally, it is only a matter of time before DC may want to open the coffin on some of their own nocturnal, fanged characters, such as Andrew Bennett: a fully undead, British vampire (otherwise known as I, Vampire) who hunts his own kind, which has earned him a spot on Justice League Dark. 

With J.J. Abrams developing a series based on that title, that might be a good place to introduce the character and, having played a vamp in Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive, Tom Hiddleston might be the right choice.

Deadman

On second thought, if Tom Hiddleston was to become part of the Justice League Dark series cast, I might have an even better role for him. His name is Boston Brand, who is one of the liveliest people you would ever read about in DC comics despite hime being, ironically, a murdered man whose spirit was given the ability possess others, which he decided to use as a force for good as Deadman. All it would take is a clean shave, some gray makeup, and disguising Hiddleston’s British accent with a Brooklyn one (which we already know he’s probably a master at) and Deadman is ready to come alive.

Jason Blood

In the event that Tom Hiddleston would prefer not to hide his natural accent but would still love to be a part of Justice League Dark, there is always the role of Jason Blood. The Englishman is an expert in occultism and demonology, which is something he should know about better than anybody as his body been inhabited by a demon called Etrigan since Merlin bound the entity to him in the 6th Century. This is an exceptionally dark role that I imagine Hiddleston, after years of playing a god, might have fun with.

The Joker

Of course, I cannot imagine any DC villain being nearly as fun to portray as the Joker. On top of that, few actors seem as perfect for the role as Tom Hiddleston, and recent fan art imagining him as the character is not the only reason. The way he relishes in deceit and chaos as Loki could practically be taken as an audition tape to be Batman’s arch enemy, who, as far as we know, has yet to be cast in a future movie opposite Robert Pattinson, so why not let Hiddleston take it for a spin.

Thanks to the extended delay at the movie theaters, Marvel audiences have had more time to sit with the loss of Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), the MCU’s Black Widow, who sacrificed herself in Avengers: Endgame so that Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) would be able to attain the Soul Stone. By now, we were to have reunited with Widow already in the prequel adventure named after her character. But as the new release date approaches, Johansson is opening up about that death, and the parts that she liked about it.

Speaking with Total Film, Scarlett Johansson discussed Natasha’s Avengers: Endgame sacrifice and said she was very much at peace with it, mainly because her action was a choice that the hero took, and not something that was out of her control. As Johansson explains it:

There definitely were a number of ways that Black Widow could have been killed off in Avengers: Endgame. But it’s noteworthy that the two main Avengers who lost their lives in the battle to take down Thanos (Josh Brolin) did it willingly – Tony Stark being the other. Having a hero die in battle without turning it into an act of heroism sends a different message, and its inspiring that Scarlett Johansson sees Nat’s plunge as the natural progression of her journey, a destiny she willingly embraces.

That doesn’t mean that filming the scene that day was made easier. We had the chance to speak with Scarlett Johansson at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, when she thought Black Widow was coming to theaters in May. And I asked her if it was easier filming the Endgame death scene knowing that she’d be returning for a prequel film. Her answer was pretty surprising.

And now, we wait to see if Black Widow actually plays in a movie theater in November. Following the release of Tenet, move studios have become less bullish on pushing their films into multiplexes, and almost everything around Black Widow has bailed. Wonder Woman 1984 shifted back to December 25, though the latest rumors on Black Widow have suggested a Disney+ run around the holidays.

Personally, that move makes the most sense to me. Yes, it’s terrible that movie theaters are closed. But if Mulan did as well as is being rumored, then Marvel Studios and Disney can earn some money back on Black Widow. And the MCU, as a whole, needs to stay on track, because every time a new MCU feature pushes back, it affects the Disney+ television programs, as well as the films that are in the pipeline behind Black Widow. The Marvel Cinematic Universe came to a head at the end of Phase Three, which featured The Russo Brothers' pair of Avengers movies. Whoops. Avengers: Endgame required an insane amount of visual effects, particularly in the epic final battle against Thanos and his forces. And it looks like the detail about Captain America's shield was quickly forgotten when the artists and editors were busy adding in every hero in the entire the MCU and an entire army. In it see can see the massive army that assembled to battle against Thanos, including The Avengers, Guardians, Ravagers, Asgardians, Wakandans, and Sorcerers. It's perhaps the most epic moment of the entire Infinity Saga, although it does seem to feature an error with Cap's shield.

The Russo Brothers fit a ton of thrilling content into Avengers: Endgame's 181-minute runtime, and the epic final battle was no exception. It was a sequence filled with peaks and valleys, including Captain America's solo fight with Thanos. Things looked dire when Chris Evan's hero was left alone facing Thanos and the full force of his army. Luckily, back up arrived just in time.

The image Captain America's broken shield was definitely a powerful one, and teased that the character could seemingly perish at any time. In the end that wasn't the case, and Steve Rogers continued battling on, and got to utter the phrase "Avengers, assemble." And after that fight, the Steve was finally given his happy ending with Peggy.

Captain America's shield will continue to live on, as an aged Steve handed it to Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson/Falcon in the final moments of Avengers: Endgame. Fans will get to see how this turn of events plays out in Disney+'s upcoming series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Is Sam destined to become the next Captain America? Only time will tell.

Throughout his role in the Infinity Saga of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, Chris Evans’ Captain America has been a consistent crusader of the ideals he holds near and dear to his heart. He’s also been a consistently sharp dresser, as Captain America’s costumes have been a conversation piece since Chris Evans first dressed up for the USO in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. But when compared to each other, how do those action set-piece ready costumes stack up; and which is the best one of the lot?

We’re going to take a look at the costumes that Cap has worn throughout his time as an Avenger, as well as rank them based on their look and application in the field. Basically, it’s time to raid Steve Rogers’ closet and pick which action gear looked best on the Star Spangled Man himself. And before anyone asks, the Quantum Realm suit from Avengers: Endgame isn’t on this list, because everyone looked good in that. It’s a killer design that everyone gets to own. Getting down to business, from the bottom to the top, let’s start with the lowest ranked outfit.

8. USO Show Costume – Captain America: The First Avenger

Yes, this costume was never meant for the field, as Captain America: The First Avenger sees the titular hero start off as a propaganda performer. Strutting out onto stage after stage selling war bonds doesn’t require much padding or the ability to protect from enemy fire. It’s cute, but it’s a quaint and theatrical version of something we’d see refined so much better in that very same movie.

7. The Nomad Suit - Avengers: Infinity War

Seeing Steve Rodgers with a beard and shaggy hair was a pretty big shock on its own. But seeing this faded variant of the Captain America: Civil War getup was even more of a signal that Cap had been off the board for some time at this point. While it has a stealth look that totally matches Steve’s new Wakandan shield, it just feels like too much of a costume that screams “edgy Cap.” However, it can be used in battle, unlike the USO Costume which required some creative outfitting to turn into something worthy of warfare.

6. The Battle of New York Costume – The Avengers

Being on ice for several decades does call for some upgrade to the old wardrobe. No one knows this better than the Man Out of Time himself, and when all was said and done, Chris Evans got to walk out in a suit that made a fantastic first impression when The Avengers called for it. Seeing Captain America decked out in a very modern suit for the first time still gives us chills, but when looking at that design in hindsight, it’s got some elements that don’t age very well. We’re looking at you, blocky chest armor.

5. The Sokovian Special - Avengers: Age of Ultron Costume

What good is a team known as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes without a little bit of branding. But the costume in Avengers: Age of Ultron doesn’t just give Captain America a nice little insignia on his shoulders, in case someone needed to find an Avenger right quick. There’s also some really nifty red accenting that shoots off of the tips of the central star on Cap’s chest. And that blocky chest armor from The Avengers? Replaced with smoother, better form-fitting protection to keep this kid from Brooklyn looking good as he feels good.

4. Captain America: The First Proper Costume – Captain America: The First Avenger

As far as tactics go, Captain America: The First Avenger nailed it down with Cap’s final look in the film. Era appropriate, and resilient as hell, seeing Steve smashing HYDRA tanks and taking the fight to the enemy in these duds was enough to cement the man, the myth, the legend known as Captain America on the big screen. Though it wasn’t strong enough to stop us from shedding a couple tears when he crashed that stealth bomber into the ice. The suit can only do so much, folks.

3. The Improvised Rescue Mission Suit – Captain America: The First Avenger

A huge amount of credit has to go to Captain America: The First Avenger’s costume designer, Anna B. Sheppard, for making the man the fashion plate of the MCU he is today. With her iconic designs leading the way, the Captain’s suits have had a large guiding light in how they evolved from those original outfits. But if we’re being honest, the coolest of that first set of suits has to be the one Steve threw together to save Bucky Barnes and the Howling Commandos. Sometimes, a leather jacket and a motorcycle helmet go perfectly with the old red, white, and blue.

2. The S.H.I.E.L.D. Suit - Captain America: The Winter Soldier

While Steve Rogers is all about the good of the nation, he’s also a man of intense principles. It’s part of why he ditched the awesome S.H.I.E.L.D. suit he wore in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and we can’t blame him for throwing of the threads of secret oppression in favor of something a little more Smithsonian. But oh damn, that first act where Steve has the blue and silver tactical gear on is pretty intense, especially when contrasting this stark and powerful look against the more showy Batroc The Leaper in the film’s first big fight scene. At one point it was even Chris Evans’ favorite suit in the lineup, but we’d like to think this changed when our top choice came into play.

1. The Mjolnir Special – Avengers: Endgame

If you ever find yourself worthy to wield Mjolnir, just as Thor always knew you would, you need something to wear for the occasion. With Chris Evans’ final suit as Captain America, it couldn’t have been a more fitting tribute to this moment than taking something traditional and getting a little more medieval. The Avengers: Endgame suit a little more like your standard Captain America uniform for The Avengers, right down to retaining the little logo on the shoulders introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

But the huge upgrade, and the thing that puts this suit at the top of the heap, is the scaling that you see in the chest and arm portions of the costume. Looking like a sort of futuristic chainmail, this costume was worthy of the great banhammer of Asgard, and it looked like a million bucks when it went into battle against the villainous Thanos. This is a look you retire on.

Like a personal stylist to the MCU, we’ve just sorted Captain America’s looks in the field, and given them all their proper due in the Marvel Studios canon. While they’re all impressive in their own way, there was only room for one of those particular costumes as the top pick in our heart. Last year marked the end of an era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Avengers: Endgame brought the Infinity Saga to an explosive ending. Last night, a different MCU era ended with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the first TV show set in this shared universe, airing its final two episodes. While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. toned down its connections to the film side of the MCU in its latter seasons, remarkably enough, the ABC show’s series finale ended up tying into Endgame in a major way: through its use of time travel. That’s right, the Quantum Realm came back into play.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 followed its main protagonists traveling to different time periods in the 20th century to prevent the Chronicoms from conquering Earth. At the start of the season, it seemed like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was operating on different time travel rules compared to the ones laid out in Avengers: Endgame. Specifically, the team adamantly tried to preserve the timeline as much as possible, although this became increasingly harder to do as certain historical events kept being altered.

However, the reemergence of Leopold Fitz, who had been absent for the majority of the season, changed everything. Upon arriving in the mid-1980s through a quantum bridge conjured by a machine pieced together by tech held by agents who survived the Chronicoms’ assault on S.H.I.E.L.D. bases around the world, Fitz revealed that rather than operating in their original timeline this season, his allies have been within a separate timeline, as was the case when Avengers: Endgame’s lead heroes went back in time to collect the Infinity Stones.

As such, while Season 7 has seen crazy twists like HYDRA leader Wilfred Malick living longer than he should have and Daisy Johnson’s mom, Jiaying, being killed years before Daisy was born, these events have no bearing on the original timeline that our main protagonists hail from. Furthermore, Fitz revealed that they could use the Quantum Realm to return to their original timeline, and they did just that, with Deke Shaw, Fitz and Simmons’ adult grandson from an aborted future, staying behind to ensure the trip was successful. The protagonists also used this quantum bubble to pull their Chronicom adversaries back to their original timeline so that the denizens of this other timeline wouldn’t have to worry about these synthetic threats anymore.

You can watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s final two episodes to learn how the rest of the finale’s events played out, but it made for a welcome surprise that the series found a way to connect to Avengers: Endgame before wrapping up. As mentioned earlier, while Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spent its early seasons including tie-ins to MCU movies (especially Captain America: The Winter Soldier, what with the reveal that HYDRA had infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. from the start), that started to die down later into the run, with Thanos only being mentioned once in Season 5 and The Blip not even being addressed. At least the show was able to squeeze in one last connective thread for the viewers who also follow the MCU film series diligently.

While the Quantum Realm was introduced in 2015’s Ant-Man, it was only when the events of Avengers: Endgame rolled around that its time travel capabilities were revealed, as first evidenced by how Scott Lang had been trapped in that dimension for only five hours on his end, yet five years had passed in our reality when he was ejected from it. Since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was willing to utilize the Quantum Realm, perhaps one or more of the MCU’s upcoming Disney+ shows will have characters visiting there too.

Hemsworth is celebrating his 37th birthday, and Ruffalo posted a few delightful set photos from Avengers: Endgame to celebrate. Check them out below.

I mean, how can you not love those two? Because while Marvel blockbusters are being produced like well-oiled machines, they're still made by regular people. And while it's a long and grueling job, it's fun to see Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth having fun while working on Avengers: Endgame. Let's break down what we're being shown in these two shots.

Mark Ruffalo's birthday message to Chris Hemsworth comes from his personal Instagram, and includes two photos from the set of Avengers: Endgame. And while security on Marvel movies are notoriously tight, it looks like Ruffalo still managed to sneak some photos while working on The Russo Brothers' latest Marvel blockbuster. Ruffalo is wearing motion capture pajamas in the shot, and has dots covering face in order for the cameras to properly capture each and every facial movement.

As for Chris Hemsworth, he's seen rocking the new Bro Thor look that his character took following Endgame's five-year time jump. He's got the character's long unkept hair and beard, and it looks like the photo might have been captured while filming Iron Man's funeral scene. Mostly because you can see Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan in his funeral blacks in the background of the shot.

The second photo that Mark Ruffalo shared for Chris Hemsworth is seemingly from the New Asgard scene, in Avengers: Endgame which reveals Thor's physical transformation for the first time. Hemsworth is shown laying on the floor of the set, rocking the extensive prosthetics necessary to bring Bro Thor to life. Ruffalo hopes he doesn't party too hard for birthday like his Marvel counterpart, avoiding passing out on the floor in the process.

It should be interesting to see what comes next for Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Both characters survived Avengers: Endgame, and Hemsworth's Thor will make history as the first hero with a fourth solo flick thanks to Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder. As for Ruffalo, fans are hoping that Hulk appears in Disney+'s She-Hulk series.
