We may only be half through the 2026 TV schedule at this point, but it's that time of year when we get to celebrate all of the most amazing performances, writing, direction and more from everything we've watched in the last year. This time around, we won't have The Studio and Adolescence sweeping all the major categories, so there may very well be some surprises to look forward to. (At least anywhere that The Pitt isn't nominated.)

The yearly nomination announcements are happening today, with The Bear's Liza Colón-Zayas and Widow's Bay co-star Jeff Hiller on hand to make the announcements. (All my non-existent votes go to Widow's Bay for all the awards, even TV movie.) This year's telecast will be hosted by Law & Order: SVU great and Knicks superfan Mariska Hargitay, who will hopefully have a fun way to stymie long acceptances speeches like Nate Bargatze did last year.

I've also added my own predictions for who will come out on top in each category, and it'll be fairly obvious which ones I'm talking about.

The 2026 Emmy Awards will be held on Monday, September 14, and will be airing on NBC and streaming via Peacock subscription at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Teyana Taylor has stayed busy since being recognized for her work on One Battle After Another with an Oscar nomination, and on Sunday she was named an Ultimate Icon. In fact, the actress took home quite a few trophies as the BET Awards aired on the 2026 TV schedule, and she looked good doing it, too. Latto, Keke Palmer, Queen Latifah, Muni Long and more also brought the celebrity fashion goods, but man, Taylor was hard to top on this night.

The stars were out for Culture’s Biggest Night, with Druski taking on BET Awards hosting duties inside Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater. The energy was high, as several artists took the stage — including Lauryn Hill, who gave a surprise performance after being presented with the inaugural Living Legend Icon Award. Teyana Taylor, however, showed exactly why the Fashion Vanguard trophy was one of the honors bestowed on her, because she ate and left no crumbs in this impressive burgundy number on the carpet:

Teyana Taylor’s Stephanie Rolland gown featured a wide structured hip with a fitted bodice and a dark, beaded design in the center of her bust. She paired the look with a matching burgundy hat, her hair styled straight and sleek down her back.

This was, in my opinion, the look of the night, but there’s no way she would have been able to sit down in that dress amongst her peers. Inside she changed into a beautiful blue dress, which she wore to accept the Best Actress, Video Director of the Year, Fashion Vanguard and Ultimate Icon awards.

Teyana Taylor wasn’t the only one turning heads at the June 28 ceremony, though. Latto slayed the see-through trend, donning a black sheer corset, reportedly by Lily Phellera. She wore a feathered stole over the dress and accessorized with a statement diamond choker and earrings, styling her hair in a slicked-back bun:

Keke Palmer was also quite a hit at the BET Awards in a sleek and sparkly Gucci gown. Her one-shoulder dress featured rows of crystals that glittered as brightly as she did, laughing and dancing all night. The back of the dress was mostly left open, the low sides connected by a delicate chain that we like to call a butt necklace.

The I Love Boosters star sported jewelry from Gucci as well, finishing the look with black pumps and wearing her hair in long, copper boho braids.

There were so many great looks to choose from, but I just can’t stop thinking about how gorgeous this shade of blue is on Muni Long:

The dress is held up by thin straps, allowing the blue sequins to shimmer down her body like the clearest ocean water, slightly flaring at her feet. She wore her hair in an up-do that showed off sparkling dangle earrings.

I could go on about how fabulous everyone looked at the BET Awards, but to be honest, it’s that burgundy number from Teyana Taylor that’s going to stick with me (as well as that hilariously relatable moment where she fussed at her kids to get off of their phones).

Over the course of Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet’s relationship, we’ve seen the makeup mogul consistently by the actor’s side, supporting him at awards shows and even sneaking into movie premieres to maintain a low profile. Well, it seems this partnership is a two-way street, because as Jenner launched her new Meta eyewear designs, Chalamet was there in a “cute” — albeit incognito — way.

Kylie Jenner held an event to debut three different styles she designed for Meta sunglasses with smart technology. While Jenner and her shades were naturally the stars of the show, fans couldn’t help but spot a figure lurking in the background, with one fan posting video and screenshots on X (Twitter).

A Vogue editor was able to confirm that the ballcap-clad, hoodie-wearing entity was, in fact, Timothée Chalamet, with the above-mentioned X user commenting on how endearing it is to see the Marty Supreme star supporting Kylie Jenner:

Just like Kylie Jenner sported multiple little black dresses at awards shows over the past couple of years — showing her support for Timothée Chalamet while trying to make sure the focus stayed on him and his work — the actor’s hoodie and ballcap make it look like he’s attempting to blend into the background.

Whether he was successful in his perceived endeavor is arguable, but it is pretty sweet to see the effort, and that he’s keeping his eye on her the whole time!

It’s easy to see why he might not be able to pull his focus away. Kylie Jenner sported a neutral-toned Gucci dress from 1999 at the event. The vintage piece featured a halter top with a rosette at the top, and she paired it with open-toed Gucci heels that, according to Page Six, retail for $1,250.

As far as jewelry, she kept it simple, sporting only earrings, so I guess we can assume the rumors that a Knicks championship might inspire Timothée Chalamet to propose were false.

That’s not altogether surprising, but these two can’t seem to escape rumors of a Chalamet-Jenner engagement this year (it’s either that or gossip about an impending breakup).

Three years is a good amount of time to be together, and sure, we often see celebrity relationships go one way or the other by this point. However, Timothée Chalamet’s presence at Kylie Jenner’s Meta event would indicate the couple is doing just fine as they are. Chalamet may have even recovered from the “wear and tear” he suffered after the New York Knicks’ NBA championship.

Apparently, Jon Hamm is going to be missing out on recognition from the Emmys. That's because the actor, who's been nominated for 15 Emmy awards of the course of his career, could potentially be completely shut out at the awards show this year due to an error by Apple TV. Hamm was submitted this year for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, though it turns out he is actually disqualified from competing in that category this year and therefore, will not be recognized for his performance in Season 4 of The Morning Show. Let's talk out the specifics of this, shall we?

Per reporting from Variety, in 2025, the Emmy committee passed a rule that prevents actors that were previously nominated in lead and supporting categories from competing as a guest performer. Hamm had already been nominated for his work in previous seasons of The Morning Show in the Supporting Actor category, therefore he would not be able to be nominated as a guest performer. This is despite the fact that Hamm only made a short appearance as Paul Marks on the drama series this past season.

It is important to note that this rule only comes into play if an actor has already been nominated for an Emmy for the same show. This is why Bryan Cranston was able to win guest performer last year for his hilarious performance in The Studio, despite being nominated and winning the lead actor prize previously for Breaking Bad. The rule also notably allows an actor to be nominated for the same show if they are playing a different character or role. With that, SNL alumni who were nominated for their work as cast members can still be recognized as guest actors if the SNL star returns to the late night show as a host

The whole situation is mighty confusing, so I can understand how Apple would make the mistake of submitting John Hamm for his Morning Show work. Unfortunately, because of the clerical error, Hamm was completely thrown out for his work on the show and can’t be resubmitted for supporting actor to abide by the new Emmy rule. Personally, I think complete disqualification for an error seems a bit silly, but rules are rules.

The good news is this doesn’t mean that Hamm will be shut out from the Emmys all together. He was all over the 2026 TV schedule, and can still be nominated for another Apple show, Your Friends & Neighbors, in which he plays full-time financier and part-time thief Andrew Cooper. Hamm could also be honored for his voice-over performance in the animated show Grimsburg.

All that to say Hamm could still easily add two more nominations to his whooping 15 so far. Hamm also has only one once for his performance in Mad Men, so I’m personally rooting for another win this time around, even if it can’t be for Morning Show.

Hilary Duff is strutting into summer like it’s 2003 all over again. After premiering her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover last week, the How I Met Your Father star made an appearance at the American Music Awards on Sunday for the first time in more than 20 years. And just like she stunned on the cover of SI despite not wearing a bikini, she shone on the red carpet in a plunging silver gown.

It’s been 21 years since Hilary Duff last walked the red carpet at the AMAs in 2005, and she made quite the spectacular return in a shiny silver dress by Rabanne. Wide silver straps supported a plunging V-neckline, as the actress left her shoulders bare. Check out her look below:

Wow, more like Hilary BUFF, am I right? The Lizzie McGuire vet showed off a sleek silhouette in the floor-length dress, shining as brightly as any trophy. She kept the jewelry simple — sporting just some drop earrings and a couple of rings — and smartly kept the focus on the shimmering gown.

Her hair was styled in a straight blowout with a center part, and she finished the look with shiny silver open-toed pumps to match her dress.

Hilary Duff has been candid about some insecurities regarding her body, saying she didn’t feel particularly model-worthy when she was first approached to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated. She’s been working with the fitness app Ladder to help her stay motivated, and whatever she’s doing is definitely working.

Many women can relate to what the singer/actress has gone through struggling with self-confidence, and it’s great to not only have her speak out about her experience but to see her push through these fears in order to have these experiences like modeling for SI and presenting at the AMAs.

Hilary Duff certainly seems to be back in the headlines a lot — and not just for that “toxic” mom group drama that we couldn’t turn away from. In February she released her sixth studio album luck... or something — her first since 2015 — which features a track called "We Don't Talk." The song went viral because it discusses her fractured relationship with sister Haylie Duff.

It’s been great to see so much of her again, especially since she’s been touring with her new music. She’s even delighted fans by recreating her viral “With Love” dance. Hopefully all of these opportunities and show-stopping looks will lead to more on-screen roles.

She hasn’t acted since How I Met Your Father ended in 2023, but she is set to star and executive produce the upcoming drama Pretty Ugly, in which she plays a former teenage pageant queen who wants her 10-year-old daughter to follow in her footsteps. We don’t have a premiere date on the 2026 TV schedule for that yet, but it will be available to stream with a Hulu subscription when it hits the streamer.

Those who watched the winners get handed out at the 94th Academy Awards in 2022 will not soon forget the sight of Will Smith storming the stage and slapping presenter Chris Rock. It was a shocking and upsetting turn of events that resulted in widespread industry chatter and consequences: Smith was forced to resign his membership to the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences, and he was banned from attending the Oscars or any other Academy event for a decade. In the aftermath, Wanda Sykes (one of the three co-hosts that night) was one of the most outspoken critics of the moment, and in recent reflection on what happened, she explained that it wasn't just the slap that upset her but also the immediate reaction to it at the ceremony.

Sykes recently appeared as a guest on an episode of The Breakfast Club, and the subject of Chris Rock came up in conversation with co-host Charlamagne Tha God because of the significant role that he had in her career: one of her first big breaks in the industry was writing for The Chris Rock Show in the late 1990s.

The two comedians remain close. So, when asked about her reaction to the notorious Oscar slap, she explained that she was "sickened" to see to first see the assault and then watch everyone pretend that things were normal. Said Sykes,

As noted by Sykes, Will Smith ultimately went back to his seat after slapping Chris Rock, and the incident was very shortly followed by Smith winning the Academy Award for Best Actor. There was no real interruption to the proceedings, and it wasn't until after the show that consequences were handed down.

In the aftermath, Wanda Sykes did get a call from Will Smith, but she was sick at the time and he left a message. She responded with a text thanking him for reaching out.

Sykes has since said that she would never host the Academy Awards again, but she is doing just fine otherwise: in addition to regular acting work in film and television (both live-action and animation), she is a hugely popular standup, some of her recent work including the 2023 Netflix special Wanda Sykes: I'm an Entertainer.

It’s kind of shocking that Adam Sandler has never been nominated for an Oscar, especially given how many times he’s absolutely delivered in dramatic roles. If you ask me, he should have been in that conversation years ago. But with a new project on the horizon, there’s a real sense that might finally change, because it sounds just like exactly the kind of role The Academy usually pays attention to.

Per Deadline, Sandler is teaming up with director Scott Cooper for a new psychological drama, Time Out, and it sounds very much in his wheelhouse, in the best way. The film follows a man who loses his job and, instead of telling his family, builds an increasingly complicated web of lies to hide the truth. It’s a premise that leans heavily into shame and desperation, all things he's proven he can play incredibly well.

Adam Sandler fans know that having a Netflix subscription is the easiest way to find his best movies. But if you need a reminder, let’s take a quick walk through some of his strongest dramatic roles, the ones that should have earned him a nomination, if not full-on Oscar gold, and prove he’s always been more than a comedic actor.

Adam Sandler Roles That Deserved An Oscar Nomination

For years, Adam Sandler has been stuck in this strange spot where everyone agrees he’s capable of great work, but the awards recognition just hasn’t followed. So let’s run through a few performances that easily could have been contenders for Oscar gold:

1. Punch-Drunk Love: This is still probably my favorite of his dramatic roles. Sure, Paul Thomas Anderson just picked up a Best Picture win for One Battle After Another, but Punch-Drunk Love is a modern masterpiece in its own right, and a big part of that is the Sand Man. He’s awkward, a little unhinged, then suddenly sincere and romantic. It’s such a specific, strange performance, and it totally works. I love that movie.
2. Reign Over Me: Sandler plays a man dealing with the loss of his family after 9/11. It’s heavy, emotional, and a clear reminder of just how much range he has when he leans into this kind of material.
3. The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected): Here, he plays a divorced man moving back in with his father. It’s quieter, more grounded, and full of those small, lived-in moments that don’t always get flashy recognition but absolutely should.
4. Uncut Gems: This one feels like the biggest miss, as, for my money, it's not just one of Sandler's best movies but also A24's best flicks. That performance is pure anxiety in human form, chaotic in a way that’s almost impossible to pull off, and yet, no nomination.
5. Hustle: Even his more recent work continues to prove the same point. In Hustle, he plays an NBA scout on his last shot, bringing a worn-down, believable edge to a role that could’ve easily felt formulaic in someone else’s hands.
6. Jay Kelly: In Jay Kelly, Sandler stars alongside George Clooney in a Noah Baumbach drama about fame and legacy. Clooney plays an aging movie star, while Sandler plays his longtime manager. It’s another example of him settling into that more restrained, character-driven space he’s been quietly excelling in.

At this point, it’s not really a question of whether Sandler can deliver a great performance. He’s done it, over and over again. It’s more a question of why those performances haven’t translated into Oscar nominations yet.

Why 'Time Out' Gives Me Hope

Time Out is a remake of the French psychological drama L’Emploi du temps, and it feels like a slightly different lane for Adam Sandler. He’s been bouncing between broad comedies and more grounded roles for years now, and what’s always stood out is how easily he shifts between the two. One minute it’s something as big and silly as Happy Gilmore 2, the next it’s Jay Kelly, and it never feels like you’re watching two different actors. But this one sounds heavier.

Director Scott Cooper has been circling the project for nearly 25 years and has described Sandler’s character as someone “on the brink.” He didn’t have to pick something this intense, but he did.

There’s also something about the story itself that just clicks. Cooper has talked about how it explores identity, work, and self-worth, the kind of themes that tend to stick with you longer than your average drama. And then there’s the cast. Willem Dafoe, Gaby Hoffmann, F. Murray Abraham, Steve Zahn, Adam Horovitz. That’s not a casual lineup. That’s the kind of group you bring together when you’re aiming a little higher.

Look, predicting Oscar stuff is always a gamble. Great performances slip through every year. But this one? It feels like the right kind of project. The kind that gives Sandler space to do what he does best when he locks in, which is make something messy, human, and a little uncomfortable in the best way. I, for one, cannot wait to see what he does with this part.

Time Out doesn’t have a release date yet, so it’s still unclear whether it’ll land on the 2026 movie calendar. But as soon as that gets locked in, we’ll keep you posted.

I get that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce getting engaged is probably objectively their biggest relationship development. However, as a life-long Swiftie, seeing them together at an award show felt like a ginormous milestone. That’s because the pop star has almost always attended these shows either alone or with friends and/or collaborators. So, yes, seeing her dance with her fiancé at the iHeart Radio Music Awards hit different.

Now, I know, we saw Kelce on the Eras Tour stage, and Swift appeared on New Heights. Their support for each other has been clear and very obvious for a long time now. However, the “Opalite” singer is known and loved for dancing at award shows, and she’s almost always doing that alone or with whoever she’s sitting next to. Therefore, seeing her partner by her side and grooving along with her was absolutely amazing, take a look:

First of all, without even considering the song they’re dancing to, this is adorable. However, the fact that they’re dancing to Raye’s hit track “Where’s My Husband!” is absolutely iconic. Like, the fact that they were jamming out to this song, and Swift doesn’t have to wonder what is taking her husband so long, makes my heart swell.

It’s making fans all emotional and excited too, as the comments on the video said things like:

For years and years, Taylor Swift has walked red carpets alone (which she did do at this show too), and she’s unabashedly had a blast dancing at award shows, even when she was the only one standing. We love her for this, too. Her independence, as well as her support of the artists performing, has always been wonderful to see.

However, there’s always been this looming question of whether she’d ever bring a partner to one of these and dance with them. Well, she just did, and it feels historic.

So, mark your 2026 TV calendar, people, because March 26 is a monumental day. It’s the day that Travis Kelce attended his first award show with Taylor Swift, and they danced the night away together.

As the lyrics in “Opalite” go, it felt like they were “dancing through the lightning strikes” together, and that just makes my heart oh so happy. Now, hopefully, we’ll get to see more of it too. The Life of a Showgirl is sure to be an awards contender this year, which means we could see Swift at more award shows. Hopefully, that means we’ll get to see Travis Kelce with her too, because as I mentioned, this whole thing just hits different.

The Oscars were, as usual, a big night for Hollywood's elite this past weekend. We saw some big winners and huge Oscar moments. Of course, for every winner there are several losers, and prior to the show, Conan O’Brien had some fun at the expense of the losers, claiming that consoling distraught nominees was actually his primary job as host.

Speaking to THR ahead of the Oscars, O’Brien pointed out that, as the night goes on, the vast majority of the people in the theater are people who have failed to win an Oscar. It’s an obvious fact, though I admit it’s one I hadn’t really considered until now. O’Brien then joked about a part of his job as host that we (apparently) never see, which involves him trying to make the Oscar losers feel better about losing. He said:

Right now, I’m imagining Conan O’Brien going down into the audience during every commercial break to find the people who didn’t win and tell them everything is going to be ok. In my imagination, everybody is sobbing uncontrollably at the fact that they lost. I also imagine the winners are laughing manically.

This isn’t how it actually looks, of course. While I’m sure nominees are disappointed they didn’t win, I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of a nominee needing consolation for not winning. Usually its fans who are the most upset when somebody is snubbed. Even if they really wanted to win, or believed they would, it would be a bad look if they made it that obvious.

While I’m sure winning an Oscar is wonderful, and everybody nominated really wants to have their name called, there is something to be said for the whole “It’s an honor to be nominated” concept. Some stars have said that the nomination is the thing that really matters, far more than the win, so to that degree, I’m not even sure anybody minds not winning.

Still, Conan jokes that in the end, his job as host is really to console people. The whole being funny stage thing is just a small part of his responsibilities. He added:

Whatever made Conan O’Brien a great Oscar host, he was good enough at it last year that the Academy wasted no time in signing him to return this year. While Oscar ratings were down compared to last year, most who saw the show seemed to be complimentary of it, and of O’Brien as well, so it will be interesting to see if O’Brien goes back for a third consecutive time.

It would put Conan O’Brien in elite company alongside some of the best Oscars hosts of all time.. Only three people have ever hosted three consecutive Oscar ceremonies: Billy Crystal, Johnny Carson, and Bob Hope, and it hasn’t happened since Crystal did it in the early ‘90s. I’m sure they were all really good at consoling the losers, too.

The biggest night in movies has come and gone, and those following along with all of the Oscars action witnessed plenty of big moments, including One Battle After Another’s big wins, an A+ performance of Sinners’ “I Lied to You,” and tons of jokes from host Conan O’Brien along the way. Timothée Chalamet may not have won the Academy Award for Best Actor, but he still attracted plenty of attention, and now a lip reader is revealing the warning he supposedly gave his sister about Kylie Jenner.

Chalamet was accompanied by his partner of three years to the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, which aired on ABC and was available to stream with a Hulu subscription. Timothée’s sister Pauline Chalamet (who starred on The Sex Lives of College Girls) was also there, and cameras caught a possibly awkward moment between the three, showing the Marty Supreme star quietly saying something to his sister. E! News shared the viral clip:

The video shows the siblings greeting each other, with Pauline Chalamet pointing out where she’s sitting. Kylie Jenner then appears to fawn over her dress, reaching out to Timothée’s sister before standing for a quick hug. According to lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling for The Mirror, the actor then leans in and seemingly tells Pauline:

From the angle shown above, I certainly can’t tell what Timothée Chalamet told his sister, but I also don’t claim to be a lip-reading expert.

Kylie Jenner always seems to find herself in awkward positions at awards shows, whether she’s being snubbed by Demi Moore or made to eat weird British snacks, and I guess we can add the 2026 Oscars to that list, too, because regardless of the exchange between Timothée and Pauline Chalamet, many fans clocked that it looked like the first time Pauline and Kylie were meeting. Kylie Jenner has been dating Timothée Chalamet for three years now, so it does seem weird that their first meeting would come now — and at the Oscars, of all places. I mean, we know that Timmy hangs out with the Kardashian-Jenner family, and Kris Jenner seems to be friendly with Nicole Flender, at least parasocially.

On the other hand, both siblings are busy with their acting careers — Pauline Chalamet will appear next in The Devil Wears Prada 2 when it hits the 2026 movie calendar in May — so maybe the timing was never right.

Hopefully the Call Me by Your Name actor’s alleged request for his sister to “go easy” on Kylie Jenner isn’t a sign of tension, but I’m sure we’ll all be on the lookout for more clues.

The Academy Awards changed things up this year in how they handled the Best Original Song nominees. Rather than feature live performances of all five songs, only “Golden” from Kpop Demon Hunters and “I Lied to You” from Sinners were given such treatment as the 2026 Oscar winners were announced. That meant expectations were high for those two numbers, and the Sinners segment definitely delivered with a performance that got the crowd moving and featured some surprising cameos and, yes, even some vampire fangs.

Regardless of how the Oscars play out awards-wise, the Sinners cast and crew came into the March 15 awards ceremony as winners with their record-breaking 16 nominations — not to mention the red carpet fashion statements by Wunmi Mosaku and her co-stars. Go ahead and add this live performance of “I Lied to You” to the list of the night's memorable moments.

Raphael Saadiq kicked off the segment with some soulful blues guitar before Sinners star Miles Caton joined in. Dancers took over the stage and the aisles within Dolby Theatre to recreate one of Sinners’ best scenes in one of 2025’s best movies. Just like in the film, several different dance styles and cultures were highlighted by the cameras panning across the stage.

Among the dancers was iconic ballerina Misty Copeland, who did her thing with Timothée Chalamet sitting in the front row, not an hour after the Marty Supreme star was roasted in Conan O’Brien’s opening monologue for his recent controversial statement about ballet and opera.

Jack O’Connell, one of the Irish vamps from the film, appeared in character — fangs and all. Brittany Howard joined Raphael Saadiq and Miles Caton on stage and killed it on guitar, as other musicians including Buddy Guy (who played the older Sammie in the movie to Caton’s younger version), Shaboozey, Eric Gales, Alice Smith, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Jayme Lawson, Li Jun Li and Bobby Rush all came together to finish the number.

It was a powerful moment, undoubtedly felt by the crowd of celebrities, all of whom were on their feet cheering. Michael B. Jordan gave an approving nod from his seat, as the dancers continued the on-stage party into the commercial break.

If we only get two live song performances at the Academy Awards, I’m certainly glad this was one of them. Hell, if we’d only gotten one, I’d be satisfied with what just happened. As disappointing as it is for the other nominees — "Dear Me," Diane Warren: Relentless, "Sweet Dream of Joy," Viva Verdi! and "Train Dreams," Train Dreams — I kind of understand why the decision was made.

In a ceremony that already runs over three hours, dedicating a combined 25 minutes to one category is a pretty big ask, though it seems really unfair to include only two of the five. We’ll have to see how this is handled in future years, but for now, I’m just grateful we got to witness this celebration this year.

Anyone who’s following along with the 2026 Oscars knows the fun starts long before the actual ceremony. The brightest stars in Hollywood were dressed to impress, and of course that includes the stars of Sinners. Many are hoping to see Michael B. Jordan, Delroy Lindo and Wunmi Mosaku get their flowers for their performances, but if I may be so bold, Mosaku was a winner before she even entered the venue, looking simply perfect in a sparkling, emerald green gown.

Wunmi Mosaku was glowing on the red carpet Sunday, and it wasn’t just her stunning Louis Vuitton dress. The first-time Academy Award nominee proudly showed her baby bump — she is reportedly nine. months. pregnant. with her second child on this night. Let that sink in for a minute. The stunning actress struck a pose outside the Dolby Theatre:

Green was a popular choices amongst the evening's celebrities, but I'm not sure anybody did it better than this. Her sparkling floor-length gown was shimmering brilliance, as the Best Supporting Actress nominee turned heads ahead of the Academy Awards ceremony with her stylish shoulder cutout. She wore her hair up and accessorized with David Yurman earrings and rings.

Of all the great performances by Black actors in 2025, Wunmi Mosaku was unquestionably near the top of the list, portraying Annie in Sinners. She brought gravitas to the Hoodoo conjurer, and for all of the supernatural elements that the horror movie encompassed, it was what Mosaku brought to the role as Smoke’s wife and a mother who had lost a child that is contributing to the very deserved recognition she’s getting.

Wunmi Mosaku debuted her baby bump at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year, where she proved just how important color is to her wardrobe in a stunning yellow number. She didn’t take home the trophy that night, but she has won so far this year at the NAACP Image Awards and the BAFTAs.

We at CinemaBlend have made Oscar predictions, and our collective guess is that Teyana Taylor may beat Wunmi Mosaku out for Best Supporting Actress, but I personally wouldn’t be upset to see the Sinners actress take the trophy.

Best Actor is also going to be a category to watch, naturally, with Michael B. Jordan going up against heavy-hitters including Timothée Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio. All of them are Oscar-worthy, so I’d be afraid to place any bets on this one.

No matter how it plays out, nobody can take this moment away from Sinners, and most notably Wunmi Mosaku. Honestly, who shows up to the red carpet nine months pregnant and then shuts it down? My love and respect knows no bounds.

The time is finally upon us. The 98th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O’Brien, are this Sunday, and here at CinemaBlend, we’ve made our picks on who we think will take home the top eight categories of the night. Three of the categories (Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress) have clear-cut favorites amongst our staff. The remaining five (both screenplay awards, both supporting actor awards, and the award for Best Actor) are, quite honestly, very tricky to guess, because our opinions vary quite a bit.

The ceremony will be live on March 15th at 7pm ET on ABC, and available to stream live with a Hulu subscription. There are sure to be some surprises, but we’ve done our best to predict what we think will happen (though not necessarily our personal choices). We’ll start with the Best Screenplay Awards and work our way towards our pick for Best Picture, hitting all the acting awards and Best Director along the way. Each of our picks will be in bold among the list of nominees.

In our staff poll, the Best Adapted Screenplay choice is perhaps the most divisive. All five nominees were favored by at least one writer, and it was quite close between Hamnet, Frankenstein, and One Battle After Another. This highlights just how tricky this task can be, because it’s easy to make a case for any of the five. Ultimately, in a very tight poll, Paul Thomas Anderson came out on top for One Battle After Another.

Sinners set the record this year for the most Oscar nominations for a film ever, with 16, including this nomination for writer Ryan Coogler. The momentum for Sinners has only been growing as this very long awards season has gone on (thanks, Olympics). While the staff pick wasn’t as close as it was for Adapted, there was quite a bit of support for Marty Supreme and Sentimental Value, but in the end, Sinners came out on top. This isn’t quite a slam dunk, but it’s the most definitive of the five awards that weren’t easy picks for us.

Best Supporting Actor

This race has been truly all over the place. Del Toro started the season strong with a string of critics' awards, Elordi won at the Critics' Choice, Skarsgård won the Golden Globe, and Penn has come on strong late with wins at BAFTA and the Actor Awards (formerly The SAG Awards). Four of the five nominees were picked by at least two writers each, and though Lindo hasn’t really been in the conversation until very late, on the strength of Sinners and his amazing performance, he is a real contender now. In fact, he is now the frontrunner, in our opinion.

Best Supporting Actress

• Elle Fanning for Sentimental Value
• Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas for Sentimental Value
• Amy Madigan for Weapons
• Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners
• Teyana Taylor for One Battle After Another – Our Predicted Winner

Like Best Supporting Actor, the race for Best Supporting Actress has been a wild ride, but it seems to have come down to three: Madigan, Mosaku, and Taylor. Each of the three has taken home awards this season, and while our choice ultimately had quite a bit of support, it’s impossible to rule out one of the other two women winning. Two months ago, it seemed like Taylor was going to sweep the season, but Madigan and Mosaku clearly have a lot of momentum as we get to the end here. We still think Taylor is the favorite for One Battle After Another, but just barely. Madigan and Mosaku are considered the favorites by quite a few folks around here.

Best Actor

• Timothée Chalamet for Marty Supreme – Our Predicted Winner

• Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon
• Michael B. Jordan for Sinners

Now this is a fascinating race, and CinemaBlend’s poll reflects that. We asked the staff to name both who they would vote for and who they think will win. While the majority of staff have predicted Chalamet to win, a huge majority picked Michael B. Jordan as who they would have voted for, personally. It’s safe to say the race is between these two, and, in full disclosure, much of our polling took place before Jordan won at the Actor Awards. There seems to be a late surge happening in favor of the Sinners star. It would not surprise anyone if he takes home the Oscar, but we predict that Chalamet will win in what could be a historic victory.

Here’s where we’re getting to the Oscars that everyone on staff is most confident about in our predictions. In fact, in the Best Actress race, there haven’t been any surprises at all leading up to the Oscars. Jessie Buckley has completely swept the awards leading up to this Sunday, and there is no reason at all to think that will change at the Academy Awards. Buckley’s performance in Hamnet is incredible, and it’s hard to imagine anyone sneaking in and winning this over her. Stone and Byrne did receive some support from the CinemaBlend staff, but an overwhelming majority picked Buckley to win Best Actress.

Best Director

Like Best Actor, the race for Best Director comes down to two men, Ryan Coogler and Paul Thomas Anderson. All season long, the general consensus is that this is PTA’s time and he’s going to walk away with the win. Our prediction is no different, as a huge majority of our staff believe that this is Anderson’s award to lose. Could he, though? Well, interestingly, yeah, he could. As with Michael B. Jordan, when we ask the staff for their favorite, most picked Coogler as their personal choice, even if almost everyone still predicted PTA to win.

It has gotten trickier and trickier to predict Best Picture over the years. Sure, there are times like two years ago when everyone pretty much knew that Oppenheimer was going to take home the biggest prize of the night. But then there are ones like last year when Anora came on very strong at the end of awards season, but was a little bit of a dark horse on Oscar night. This year could be either.

The strong consensus of the CinemaBlend staff is that One Battle After Another will win Best Picture, but as in a couple of categories, a majority of the staff picked Sinners as their personal favorite. This isn’t surprising, after all, Sinners was our choice for the best movie of 2025. The late momentum for Sinners has turned this award into a real nail-biter, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see Ryan Coogler on stage accepting the award at the end of the night. However, as a group, we have to stick with our prediction, given that all but three staff members picked One Battle to win (interestingly, the other votes all went to Hamnet).

Other than KPop Demon Hunters winning Best Animated Feature and “Golden” from that movie winning Best Song (sorry again, Diane Warren) being pretty much foregone conclusions, there are close races in every single category.

Those who fired up their Netflix subscriptions on March 1 to watch the Actor Awards were given quite the treat, from stunning red carpet fashion to lots of love for Sinners. For some, however, the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the sweet cast reunion that brought some of the stars of The Office together on stage, and apparently we’ve got Mindy Kaling to thank for that.

On Sunday night, Angela Kinsey, Ellie Kemper, Jenna Fischer and Mindy Kaling took the stage to present the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series (The Studio took the honors), and according to Actor Awards executive producer Mark Bracco, that never would have happened without Kaling. The EP told Variety:

It honestly speaks to how beloved the show is — by its fans and cast — that Mindy Kaling was able to secure the actresses in less than two hours. It’s fitting, too, that she would have the other Dunder Mifflin ladies there, too, since they were presenting an award for an ensemble.

The actors responsible for portraying Pam Beesly (Fischer), Angela Martin (Kinsey), Kelly Kapoor (Kaling) and Erin Hannon (Kemper) also used their platform to reflect on how much has changed since The Office wrapped in 2013, particularly the long seasons. They said:

• Mindy Kaling: We are women who survived 22-episode seasons.
• Angela Kinsey: There were no short orders.
• Ellie Kemper: You didn’t plan a season around a pregnancy.
• Kaling: Yeah, you just gave birth on camera and named the baby after a grip.
• Jenna Fischer: Then you came back the next week with another episode.

As grueling as the schedule was, the actresses admitted they were lucky to be employed from September to May for each season they appeared on. Their lampooning of one of the best sitcoms of all time continued:

• Fischer: It meant Christmas episodes and Valentine’s episodes and Super Bowl episodes…
• Kaling: And sometimes filler episodes that were kinda bad.

Sure, there are some episodes that didn’t have a chance at making the list of The Office’s best episodes ever, but with more than 200 episodes over nine seasons, there are bound to be a couple of clunkers. Those “filler episodes” didn’t hurt the mockumentary’s legacy, because it was still such a treat for fans to be able to see this reunion. So, our thanks goes out to Mindy Kaling.

Plenty of awards were handed out Sunday night, as the Actor Awards (previously the SAG Awards) streamed live with a Netflix subscription, and those who tuned in were also treated to quite the fashion show as well, with the honorees giving their interpretations of the night’s theme, “Reimagining Hollywood Glamour from the ’20s and ’30s.” Jenna Ortega and Gwyneth Paltrow were thinking along the same lines, as both hit the red carpet in gorgeous lacy gowns with plunging necklines, and I can’t decide which dress I like better.

Let’s start with Jenna Ortega, who was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for Wednesday. She and stylist Enrique Melendez simply don’t miss, and I’m obsessed with this delicate-looking slip dress from Christian Cowan. The cream-colored gown was trimmed with lace at the neckline, which plunged down to her belly button, as you can see below:

The dress was intentionally distressed, with holes allowing skin to peek through around her midriff and fraying along the hemline. The textured edges continued up the thigh-high slit, which showed Jenna Ortega’s light gray stockings underneath that underscored the piece’s lingerie aesthetic.

In a seeming nod to her character on one of Netflix’s most bingeworthy series, Jenna Ortega incorporated touches of black throughout the ensemble, including a choker with black cord falling down her sides, open-toe platform heels and a black manicure. Her glam featured a dark red lip and smoky eye, while she wore her hair down with a glamorous-looking side-part.

Gwyneth Paltrow, meanwhile, also chose a lingerie-inspired plunging lace neckline, though color-wise she went in the opposite direction of Jenna Ortega and wore black. The dress was semi-sheer down past Paltrow’s hips, before flaring out at the thighs into a calf-length sparkling ballgown. Check out her look:

She added a subtle pop of color with vintage turquoise earrings and burgundy nails, and her hair was done up in a bun. I can’t decide if I like this ensemble more, or Jenna Ortega’s, but the best part is that nobody has to choose! The actresses may have interpreted the evening’s theme in similar ways, but they each shined in their own spotlights.

Gwyneth Paltrow has been wearing a lot of sheer lately, including the pretty-in-pink number she sported when she reunited with Kate Hudson to accept a film festival honor.

Gwyneth Paltrow wasn’t nominated for an individual Actor Award on Sunday but she did present a trophy, and she was there in support of Marty Supreme, sitting alongside Timothée Chalamet, Odessa A'zion and other cast members. However, the sports drama was shut out of winnings, largely because of how much love Sinners got.

Marty Supreme will have another shot soon, though, as it’s nominated for several Academy Awards. We’ll definitely be tuning in to see who takes home the hardware — and, of course, to see what all of the stars are wearing! — when the Oscars hit the 2026 TV schedule live starting at 7 p.m. ET Sunday, March 15, on ABC.

We are well into the throes of awards season right now, and if you are a person who watches the Golden Globes winners land their trophies or tunes in for all the wild Grammys fashion, you might be a little familiar with the term “seat filler.” We know, for example, that Kelly Clarkson once got mistaken for one. But what is a seat filler, how do celebrities perceive them and, most importantly, how does one land the job?

How A Real-Life Seat Filler Got The Gig

The Grammys were this past week, and one influencer spilled the tea on how one lands a gig as a seat filler at an events show. It’s both more difficult and less difficult than you might think. Per influencer Arjun Manjunath on Instagram, some of it simply came down to following directions, and having some dumb “luck.”

However, not only are people not paid to be seat fillers, so you have to foot your own bill and follow a wide swathe of specific directions, including what to dress and eating hours before the event. Despite this, the “difficult” part of the gig is actually landing it. Manjunath said they chose “around 300 of us out of 35,000 applicants.” So, signing up is easy, but also getting into the room ain’t. In fact, the influencer said he “didn’t know how” he was picked.

Recently, SNL stars Marcello Hernandez and David Spade were also talking about seat fillers. They mentioned they were even used during SNL50, so there’s all kinds of shows and events with live studio audiences that require signing on random folk to occupy seats. This includes events like the Oscars, The Grammys and other awards shows like the Golden Globes and Emmys, but it’s not strictly the types of events you might guess.

The website currently lists other types of past events they fill seats for, including the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony, The Miss America pageant, Stand up to Cancer, and a variety of other specials that air on major networks. Then, there are late night and other shows that tape with a live studio audiences, including Jimmy Kimmel Live! and more.

Marcello Hernandez And David Spade Say It’s Always Weird To Be At Events With Seat Fillers

Speaking of seat fillers, as I noted prior, one of the biggest events to incorporate seat fillers in recent memory was last years SNL50 production. There were a slew of celebrities who attended, but some who skipped (or were late). Spade recently said on his Fly On The Wall podcast that he got to the event early and was told he’d be sitting in the front row next to Bill Murray. But Billy took his time showing up (or was perhaps backstage getting emotional at this point), and instead the star found himself talking to a seat filler, who was jazzed to be there. David Spade was less enthusiastic.

Marcello Hernandez also recounted some interactions he’s had with seat fillers, most recently at the Grammys. He said he’s always seeing randos sitting next to famous individuals, which can be kind of funny and sometimes awkward, noting one poor girl had just sat down and started drinking from a water bottle before she was yanked out of a chair.

Sometimes being a seat filler can be a juicy gig. One previous Grammys seat filler was sat near Ben Affleck and JLo the year his infamous sadfleck meme ran around and reported on him not seeming happy about being there. Jon Hamm also spoke out about some kid who got a front row seat at the SNL50 concert that aired right before the event, though that had a sweeter ending than David Spade’s snarky comment.

I woke up early the morning the 2026 Oscar nominations were announced, and I was shocked (probably not as much as Dwayne Johnson) to find out that The Smashing Machine received only one nod, and it wasn’t for acting. In fact, it wasn’t for directing, writing, cinematography, editing, or any of the other major categories. Instead, it was recognized for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, a more low-profile yet equally significant category.

Though I would have loved to have seen the wrestler-turned-actor win an Oscar at the upcoming awards show, that ship has sailed. Now I’m investing my time, energy, and good vibes into wishing The Smashing Machine gets some kind of honor at the 98th Academy Awards. I have nothing against the other nominees in this outrageously stacked category, but I really need this to happen.

The Odds Are Stacked Against The Movie In The Best Makeup And Hairstyling Category

Just like the odds being stacked against Johnson’s character in The Smashing Machine, the bafflingly underperforming sports biopic is in one of the toughest categories at this year’s Oscars. I mean, just look at the full list of nominees up for Best Makeup and Hairstyling (and the artists up for the award):

• Frankenstein - Mike Hill, Jordan Samuel, Cliona Furey
• Kokuho - Kyoko Toyokawa, Naomi Hibino, and Tadashi Nishimatsu
• Sinners - Ken Diaz, Mike Fontaine, Shunika Terry
• The Smashing Machine - Kazu Hiro, Glen Griffin, Bjoern Rehbein
• The Ugly Stepsister - Thomas Foldberg, Anne Cathrine Sauerberg

Though I have yet to watch The Ugly Stepsister (a body-horror retelling of Cinderella) or Kokuho (a Japanese historical drama), the makeup and hairstyling in these two look stunning. Then there’s Sinners, which set the record for 16 Oscar nominations, and Frankenstein, a movie that needs no explanation when it comes to meticulous and unique visuals.

Does a more grounded and reality-based sports biopic stand a chance against these juggernauts? I’m not getting my hopes up too much, but crazier things have happened at the Oscars over the years.

Dwayne Johnson’s Transformation Into Mark Keer Needs To Be Recognized

One of the main reasons I want The Smashing Machine to win its Oscar is the fact that Dwayne Johnson is almost unrecognizable as Mark Kerr. I know this was getting thrown around quite a lot from the time the movie was first announced until its release last fall, but Benny Safdie’s intense sports biopic brought out the best in Johnson as an actor. This is hands down his best and most impressive performance, and it’s not even close. And a lot of that is because of his transformation into another person.

Johnson has played dozens of different characters since breaking into Hollywood 25 years ago, and he’s adopted various personas in WWE over the years (his Final Boss character is still the best thing he’s ever done in wrestling), but nothing holds a candle to what he did in The Smashing Machine. It didn’t look or feel like Johnson playing Kerr; it felt like the embattled MMA legend was playing himself.

I mean, I had to remind myself a couple of times that this was the same guy from the Fast & Furious movies and the wrestler I grew up watching as a kid. I didn’t get that same feeling while watching Frankenstein or Sinners, and that’s saying something.

The Level Of Detail Carried Out By The Makeup And Hair Teams Is Insane

Though I was impressed with Johnson’s performance (at least more than the Academy), that and his willingness to become someone else are only part of the reason I want The Smashing Machine to win its Oscar. Most of the credit should be reserved for makeup artists Kazu Hiro, Glen Griffin, and Bjoern Rehbein, who transformed not just Johnson but also Emily Blunt and the rest of the outstanding cast.

The way this team was able to turn one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood (and pop culture, for that matter) into a completely different person without making it look weird or off-putting is something we should be celebrating. The lengths these artists went to turn Johnson into Kerr are insane. The larger brow, the more extreme cheeks, the hair, all of it worked together to enhance the performance. This is especially true in the final act when Johnson’s character shaves his head and adopts a goatee just like the real Kerr in the early 2000s. It was like a completely different person, which further drives home the extent of the character’s downward spiral.

There Were Times When I Forgot I Was Watching A Movie Instead Of A Documentary

Though I didn’t put The Smashing Machine in my list of favorite movies from last year, I’ve long celebrated director Benny Safdie’s obsession with making the biopic look as authentic as possible. For those who don’t know, or simply forgot, the 2025 drama is inspired by the 2002 sports documentary, The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr, and the two are almost identical at times. In fact, I kept finding myself forgetting I was watching the movie instead of the documentary.

I mean, Safdie's decision to shoot in a documentary style and then shoot with the same cameras PRIDE used for the various fight scenes paid off tremendously, and the makeup and hairstyling only added to that. It was a unique experience and added so much to the drama of the story unfolding. Even the non-fighting scenes, including one where Johnson broke a door with his elbow, looked so raw and real.

I Still Don’t Know How The Smashing Machine Received Only One Oscar Nomination

Before I wrap things up, I just have to point out my disbelief that The Smashing Machine only received one Academy Award nomination. Honestly, I went back to the Oscars website to make sure I wasn’t missing something after the nods came out in January 2026. I mean, I’ll take the Best Makeup and Hairstyling category, as it’s better than nothing, but it’s just a shame that other aspects of this hard-hitting movie weren’t recognized.

I understand this is a loaded field with some truly outstanding movies in the Best Picture category and numerous others, but I thought it’d get something else. If anything, Best Costuming should also include this movie.

Hopefully, I hear that The Smashing Machine is named the winner when the 98th Academy Awards air live, Sunday, March 15 on ABC and streaming with a Hulu subscription.

The Golden Globes are considered one of the first big awards shows of the season, but the event is also something of a Hollywood roast, with many of the event’s hosts taking direct aim at the nominees (and eventual winners) with some pretty cutting barbs. This year's host Nikki Glaser has been no exception and many of her jokes this year have gone viral. But if you think these were bad, wait until you see what she didn’t say.

Glaser made an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where she took a few minutes to go through a shortlist of the jokes from her opening monologue that did not make the final cut. Her first snipped-out joke was aimed at Sydney Sweeney and her movie, Christy, which was seen as a major 2025 box office flop. Glaser said:

Maybe Glaser felt bad about drawing attention to such a significant bomb in the career of Sydney Sweeney. Of course, that movie is likely already in her rearview mirror, considering that she followed it with a major hit in The Housemaid, a movie which already has a sequel in development.

You can’t really talk about the last year in Hollywood without talking about AI, and Nikki Claser certainly had that on her list of jokes. Although her focus was less about the A.I. “actress” that was introduced and more a shot at Hollywood power structures when she said:

Some targets are evergreen for comedians, and one is Leonardo DiCaprio’s love life. The One Battle After Another star is known for dating women who are becoming increasingly younger than he is. Glaser actually did make a joke about DiCaprio’s girlfriends, but one that she almost made went:

One up-and-coming star nearly had his name dropped by Nikki Glaser as the comedian had a joke all lined up regarding Jonathan Bailey being named Sexiest Man Alive. Although, as with the A.I. joke, the aim wasn’t really at Bailey, but at others, many of whom were probably in the room when she would have said:

While some comedians don’t really seem to care about the way their jokes might be taken, Nikki Glaser has admitted that when she realizes she’s gone too far, she clearly isn’t trying to upset anybody. That doesn’t mean the jokes aren’t without humor. Check out these, and some other cut jokes in the clip below.

Some of these jokes may have been cut for simply not being as funny as other jokes. Others may have been seen as two mean to too likely to cause problems. Glaser still likely made a few people at the Golden Globes uncomfortable, and if she returns to host again, that’s unlikely to change.

Nikki Glaser made a return appearance as host of the Golden Globes this week, recruiting Jennifer Lopez for fun TikTok trends and roasting celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio. While there were certain A-listers she supposedly planned to stay away from, the same can’t be said for the network airing the awards show. Glaser fired a joke at CBS News that referenced recent events, and apparently she did not get that one approved by higher-ups beforehand.

The 83rd Golden Globe winners were celebrated Sunday night, with the awards show airing on CBS and streaming live with a Paramount+ subscription. However, that didn’t stop Nikki Glaser from making a joke at the expense of CBS News, as she jested:

Sources told Page Six the jab — which was met with loud laughter from the presumably liberal crowd — was not run by the company’s bosses for approval.

However, while Nikki Glaser has faced backlash for her comedy before, that supposedly won’t be the case in this situation — at least from the network — as an industry insider said CBS News is separate from the entertainment section, and that the Golden Globes host was not required to run her jokes by its bosses. The insider said:

Nikki Glaser’s dig was presumed to be a reference to its new editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, who drew strong criticism from the staff and the public over her decision to pull a planned 60 Minutes story about the Trump administration reportedly deporting migrants to a prison in El Salvador, after the White House refused to participate.

Ahead of its merger with Skydance Media, CBS’ parent company also settled a lawsuit filed by Donald Trump over the editing of an interview with then-vice president Kamala Harris — a move highly criticized by Stephen Colbert shortly before the network canceled his late-night show.

The Golden Globes host also referenced Paramount Skydance attempting a hostile takeover of Warner Bros. following its acquisition by Netflix when she joked:

There was plenty of good to come from this year’s Golden Globe Awards — Nikki Glaser’s tribute to Rob Reiner would be a part of that category — and some not-so-good segments as well, including that awkward UFC tie-in with Heated Rivalry. As for where Glaser’s CBS-related jokes fall, I guess that’s up for interpretation.

It’s not rare to see comedians broach controversial topics in their monologues and jokes, and seeing what unapproved content comes out of awards show hosts’ mouths is part of the fun of live TV, right?

Demi Moore stopped by Timothée Chalamet’s table at the Golden Globes to congratulate him and co-star Elle Fanning on A Complete Unknown, completely bypassing the Kardashian in the middle. Well, fans think history has repeated itself a year later, as they are accusing Chalamet’s Marty Supreme co-star of a similar snub. A bathroom selfie, however, might just exonerate Odessa A’zion.

A clip of Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet at this year’s awards went viral, after Odessa A’zion was shown leaning in to give the Golden Globe winner an air kiss. Jenner leaned in as if to offer her own cheek next, but A’zion pulled away, causing an awkward moment for the makeup mogul. However, there doesn’t seem to be any bad blood between the two, as Jenner went on to post a selfie with A’zion to Instagram Stories:

The uncomfortable moment between her and the I Love LA star at the table just seems to be an unfortunate misunderstanding, and come on, we’ve all been there — thinking a stranger in the grocery store was talking to us when they were really on the phone; waving back to someone who was waving to a person behind us; responding, “You too,” when a server tells us to enjoy our meal.

Kylie Jenner’s mishap just happened to be captured on video and distributed all over the Internet so we could share in the second-hand embarrassment.

In case the bathroom selfie isn’t enough to convince people of the camaraderie between Kylie Jenner and Odess A’zion, however, there’s another pic of the two of them playing with forced perspective in the mirror:

See, we’re all having fun here. They were also seen several times over the course of the evening sitting next to each other, talking and getting along perfectly well, like in the video below, where Ariana Grande stopped by to greet the trio:

I think after last year’s incident with Demi Moore, fans were likely on the lookout for more uncomfortable interactions involving Kylie Jenner, leading to this admittedly awkward moment getting blown out of proportion. The truth of the matter is, though, that these events are about Timothée Chalamet, not her, and when she accompanies him to awards shows, she knows she's not supposed to be the center of attention.

One has to wonder if that’s why the two-time Oscar nominee walked the Golden Globes red carpet solo on Sunday night. Either way, it seems a good time was had by all, thanks to some bathroom selfies clearing up any misconceptions.

Sunday night’s awards show held plenty of surprises for TV and movie lovers, and I’m not just talking about all of the Golden Globe winners. There was Teyona Taylor’s message to “little Black girls,” Nikki Glaser’s tribute to Rob Reiner and that UFC tie-in with Heated Rivalry that I think we can safely say nobody saw coming. We also got some big news from Sinners star Wunmi Mosaku, as she revealed her pregnancy on the red carpet.

Wunmi Mosaku, who played Annie in one of the best movies of 2025, was a vision in her bright yellow Matthew Reisman gown at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards. While she was one of the Sinners actors who arguably should have been nominated — and one of several women of color who were snubbed — Mosaku did take the stage with her co-stars as the movie won for Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, joining Hailee Steinfeld, who is expecting her first child with her husband Josh Allen.

Fans were so excited for Wunmi Mosaku, who simultaneously announced the news via a poignant essay in Vogue. Many people had some great reactions to the two Sinners actresses (pictured above with co-stars Delroy Lindo and Miles Caton) expecting at the same time. One posted:

Wunmi Mosaku wrote in her Vogue piece that in her Nigerian culture, pregnancies are not typically announced in a public fashion due to their being sacred. However, with Sinners getting so much awards love — and Mosaku herself responsible for one of the best performances of 2025 — she says she was advised to “get ahead of speculation” regarding her body.

She therefore chose not to hide her bump but to celebrate it, ensuring that she and the baby got to experience the moment together. The dress she chose is a celebration of this journey, as the actress wrote:

Last awards season, Kylie Jenner rocked a lot of little black dresses as she made the rounds with Timothée Chalamet, pulling off classic looks without drawing too much attention away from her partner. That was not her strategy on Sunday, as she maybe leaned into the “golden” aspect of the Golden Globes with her eye-catching look. As gorgeous as that shimmering sequined gown was, though, I’m even more in awe after finding out how many carats of diamonds she was sporting.

Timothée Chalamet walked the red carpet alone at the January 11 awards show, but thanks to several jokes from Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser and other presenters, the camera panned often to the actor’s table, giving us a good look at Kylie Jenner’s metallic Ashi Studio dress, which she accessorized with Lorraine Schwarz diamonds, as you can see below:

So just how many carats of diamonds was The Kardashians star touting? According to Page Six, the large earrings alone contained 75 carats, and combined with a ring big enough to make a luxury ocean liner nervous, Kylie Jenner surpassed 100 carats with her look.

While she may have skipped the red carpet, the youngest sibling on the Kardashian-Jenner family tree gave fans a look at her gown on Instagram, showing her strappy, form-fitting ensemble, to which she would add Louboutin shoes and a Judith Leiber Couture Soap Dish bag (we know how she likes her pricey bags).

Timothée Chalamet, meanwhile, who did win the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture for his role in Marty Supreme, looked dapper in a black crew neck and black velvet vest, blazer and pants from Chrome Heart. He completed the ensemble with black Timberlands and his own piece of statement jewelry — a Cartier panther necklace.

His jewelry probably didn’t consist of 100 carats of diamonds, but it still made quite the impression, as it’s estimated the dazzling big cat carries a price tag of around $36,000.

As for other drop-dead gorgeous looks from the Golden Globe Awards, I couldn’t take my eyes off of Julia Roberts, who rocked her own statement jewelry. The After the Hunt actress sported a large strawberry-shaped pendant that she paired with a floor-length black gown.

Jennifer Lopez, meanwhile, proved she’s still one of the best when it comes to celebrity fashion, showing off a picture-perfect example of the sheer dress trend.

I’m excited to see what the rest of awards season brings from Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner amidst their three-year relationship. While the couple continues to maintain their privacy, particularly on social media, the actor has proclaimed his love for his partner during both of his acceptance speeches so far, and the opportunity still exists for them to break out more matching outfits like that Marty Supreme orange leather they rocked in December.

Those following along live with the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday got to see plenty of great moments, like Nikki Glaser’s joke about Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend, Teyana Taylor’s powerful message to “little Black girls” and Jennifer Lopez adding to her fashion icon status with possibly our favorite version of the sheer dress trend. There were some misses, too, including the UFC tie-in as the Heated Rivalry stars took the stage to present, and fans aren’t missing the opportunity to roast the awkward moment.

Heated Rivalry has become such a phenomenon that I’m sure the attention has been overwhelming for its stars, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie. But the way that was handled by the Golden Globes was just plain awkward, as before they took the stage, an announcement was made:

Lights started flashing as UFC fighters Mackenzie Dern and Brian Ortega walked on stage, strutted up to the front and posed, uttering a few words to each other as they were seemingly satisfied with the crowd situation before pivoting and walking back off-stage. It looked more like a fashion show than anything, which one fan noted with the meme:

The fact that Mackenzie Dern — complete with her UFC title belt — and Brian Ortega’s names weren’t even announced added to the confusion of the moment, because I promise you not everybody knew who they were or what they were doing. I’m with fans like this who still don’t know what the point was:

It was clear from the audience’s non-reaction that this segment was not hitting, and another fan posted:

With Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie’s protection being the supposed reason for the UFC fighters’ presence, I thought there would at least be some kind of interaction between them. However, the Heated Rivalry actors then took the stage and proceeded with their own comedic bit about being nervous and picturing everyone in the audience naked.

I can see where a Heated Rivalry crossover with the UFC would make sense on paper. They’re both sports-related, they both include … wrestling (heh), and the mixed martial artists probably would make good bodyguards for Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, but the way the Golden Globes handled it was worthy of the penalty box.

Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner have become the must-see couple at this year’s awards shows after they wore matching orange for the premiere of his film Marty Supreme last month. Golden Globe Awards host Nikki Glaser didn’t make too many jokes about Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner during the show (though there was her Marty Supreme musical number), but we still got a good look at the lovebirds enjoying themselves from their table. Chalamet retired the orange for the evening, opting for all-black in a crew neck shirt, vest and jacket with silver buttons. He went the Julia Roberts route with some statement jewelry, sporting a Cartier panther necklace that stood out amidst all the black.

Kylie Jenner may not have walked the red carpet, but she still showed out in a gold sequined gown that was appropriate for the night. She previewed the look on Instagram ahead of the ceremony, strutting in the low-cut dress that was accented with four thin, sparkling straps grazing each shoulder.

Will these be the next outfits duped by other celebrities after the Hacks stars did their iconic impression of the couple? I certainly wouldn’t argue.

There’s no question that Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet are two of the hottest celebrities right now, with the makeup mogul blowing our minds with extravagant purchases like her $100K-plus luggage and $10K bikini. Three years into her romance with Chalamet, he’s on his own path to be “one of the greats,” and he’s been unapologetically confident in that pursuit.

Behind closed doors, though, a music industry insider who claims to be familiar with the couple says the actor and the reality star are really good for each other, particularly given how Kylie Jenner grew up. The insider told Page Six:

Kylie Jenner was only 9 years old when the Keeping Up with the Kardashians camera crew moved into their Calabasas home, so she grew up dealing with public scrutiny, paparazzi and everything else that comes with being associated with the Kardashian-Jenner family.

Movie and TV lovers are tuning into the Golden Globe Awards to see the best of the best accept awards for the work they’ve done over the past year, but let’s be real — we’re also here for the fashion. Celebrities walked the red carpet in some beautiful and sometimes bold looks, including Julia Roberts, whose classic black dress got a pop from her statement red jewels.

You can’t go wrong with black on the red carpet — just ask Kylie Jenner and all of her LBDs — and Julia Roberts did it perfectly in a floor-length black gown with three-quarters sleeves. The V-neck was just the right neckline to show off a large strawberry-shaped pendant, as you can see below:

The bejeweled berry featured seeds and stems of gold, hanging on a gold chain from Julia Roberts’ neck. She paired it with a matching ring on her right middle finger, where she also showed off a red manicure.

The necklace is such a show-stopper, and if I came face to face with her, I might be tempted to ask if it was doubling as a vial of something — likely some sort of runoff from the fountain of youth. Whatever it is, it's working, because the 58-year-old actress was simply glowing and looked as great as ever.

Tonight’s awards show features the 11th Golden Globes nomination for the actress, who is being recognized in the category of Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama for her role of Alma in Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt. She’s won three trophies at past shows, for Steel Magnolias, Pretty Woman and Erin Brockovich.

I’m not sure if the strawberry jewelry can be considered method acting, but she previously took things to a new level, when she attended the Venice Film Festival wearing a cardigan that featured Luca Guadagnino’s face all over it. She’s truly an icon.

In After the Hunt, Julia Roberts portrays a college professor who gets caught in the middle of a sexual abuse scandal involving a colleague and one of her students (played by Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri) — both of whom she’s close to.

While Julia Roberts no doubt deserves this nod — critics raved about her performance, despite having mixed reviews about After the Hunt overall — some fans think Ayo Edebiri was one of the women of color who were snubbed in this year’s nominations.

Will the Ocean’s Eleven actress bring home the hardware? We’ll know soon enough, but either way, she’s already a winner in my book — in the name of celebrity fashion, that is — with that red carpet look.

Awards Season is upon us, and folks at the 2026 Golden Globes definitely turned out the fashion. While Selena Gomez rocked a gorgeous feathered gown, Jennifer Lopez is the latest star to put her spin on the sheer dress trend. And the look is so striking that I think it's my favorite take on the often viral see-through dress. What can't JLo wear?

The "Let's Get Loud" singer has had plenty of iconic fashion moments, including Lopez's iconic green Versace dress. She once again hit out of the park at the Globes this year, wearing a see-through gown with dramatic tulle at the bottom and flowers that strategically cover part of her body. Check it out below, where you'll also notice that the pop star, actor, and producer remains ageless.

Talk about stunning. Between the sheer panels and the expert styling, this is definitely a Globes look that's going to go viral. The dress is by Jean-Louis Cherrer, and her jewels are by Sabyasachi. I maintain JLo was snubbed for her performance in Kiss of the Spider Woman, and should have included in the 2026 Golden Globe nominations. But you can't deny how effective and memorable this look is at the ceremony.

The trend of sheer dresses began when Florence Pugh wore see-through Valentino dress back in 2022, with the actress facing body shaming online. But that didn't stop her from going sheer, and plenty of other actresses have followed suit. Jennifer Lopez is the latest example of this, and is by far my favorite take on this empowering trend.

Rachel Zegler rocked a sheer dress this past December, and earlier in the fall bot Margot Robbie and Rachel Zegler wore see through looks. It's always fun seeing how each celebrity brings something new to the assignment, and the Selena actress provided yet another memorable variation.

While Kiss of the Spider Woman didn't perform at the box office, I was hoping early buzz for Jennifer Lopez's performance would carry through deep into Awards Season. She gave an outstanding performance, with her talent as an actress, dancer, and vocalist all on display for the movie musical. This isn't the first time that fans like me have been bummed about JLo not getting her flowers, as she was notably snubbed from an Oscar nomination for Hustlers.

You can't deny how much of a fashion icon Jennifer Lopez, and this Golden Globes look is further proof why you want the accomplished multihyphenate at your event. And years in, there are still ways for the sheer dress trend to deliver surprises.

Welcome, one and all, to my 2026 Golden Globes live blog. Given that the fun has yet to begin, let's get everyone's opinions for the four most prestigious awards of the night. First, the more light-hearted fare.

I'm gonna have to go with Hacks there, if history has anything to say about it.

I love how much of a toss-up this is between Marty Supreme and One Battle After Another. And if Bugonia flies in for a surprise win, I wouldn't be so shocked.

Now let's measure everyone's tastes for the more serious entries up for this year's biggest awards. First up, TV.

Is it too early to place all bets on The Pitt sweeping the drama categories?

Once again, the movie category is a stumper. I'll go with Big Willy Stylez and say Hamnet will get the win.

Hudson Williams' Heated Carpet Look

No rivalries here, just Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams rocking a white Armani suit with several buttons left astray. The fact that he also supplied a heel kick to show off his red-bottomed Louboutins is icing on the cake. Oh, and the Russian accent was like...sprinkles and candy pieces atop the icing.

Janelle James' Sheer Orange Dress And More A+ Color Pops

Abbott Elementary's Janelle James plays a character who often plays up her fashion and style as bigger strengths than her administrative skills. I dunno if the actress herself could pull off being a real-life principal, but she definitely looks as fab as Ava ever could in this orange LaQuan Smith dress. (She noted she wanted to wear a Black designer's work.)

I'm admittedly not sure yet who's behind Leighton Meester's look seen above, but I am loving any and all bright pops of color like her yellow dress-topper.

Adam Scott, known for wearing a distinct blue suit on Severance, is on the red carpet in a vibrant red suit that absolutely stands out in the crowd.

Tessa Thompson is in golden goddess mode in her dress, and would totally match the award if she managed to win out for Best Actress for her role in Hedda.

The Running Man Co-Stars Glen Powell And Colman Domingo Are Looking Stylish

Glen Powell managed to snag a +2 for his invite so that he could bring his mom and dad to the show. (He noted voted missed out by snubbing his mom for a nomination, given her cameo in Chad Powers Season 1.) I'm assuming she didn't dress him in his comfortable-looking striped blue suit, though.

Meanwhile, Powell's The Running Man co-star Colman Domingo is rocking a Valentino suit with Boucheron jewels across the left-hand side to resemble a gorgeous, expensive AF garden with ivy rising up.

Teyana Taylor's Bejeweled Butt-Crack Bow Is Wowzers

Teyana Taylor is wearing a wild black dress from Schiaparelli that shows off all kinds of skin, while also drawing everyone's eyeballs to the bejeweled bow in the cutout on her backside. It's not a look I could pull off, but I also couldn't have pulled off her performance in One Battle After Another. I think there's a pattern brewing.

I Hope Julia Roberts' Necklace And Ring Are Actually Flasks

Julia Roberts seems to always look like she's making a red carpet appearance, and her 2026 Globes choices do not stray from that trend. But I mean, Roberts' eye-catching necklace and ring jewels are just so big and bulbous that I hope they're both actually just flasks that she takes nips from throughout the evening. Extra points if it's actually mushroom tea and not just booze...in this hypothetical situation that isn't based on reality.

Chase Infiniti's Dress Could Be A Chase Infinity Mirror

One Battle After Another's female stars are winning the red carpet tonight, clearly, with Chase Infiniti resembling the fanciest chandelier I've ever seen, with mirrored glass set between the myriad sparkly jewels. She could get hired to spin from the ceiling during parties with strobe lights. I would be so afraid to get any part of that dress caught on...well, anything.

Nikki Glaser's Opening Monologue Hits Highs And Lows

Donning a lovely red dress that showed off cleavage and thigh without distracting from all the jewelry on her wrist and fingers, and from all the barbs she threw out. Such as talking about L.A. "where no TV has been made for the past six years," asking George Clooney the once-in-a-lifetime question about what to do about her watery Nespresso. I did actually adore the joke about The Rock being lucky because The Paper isn't nominated. Because rock, paper, scissors jokes are never made on such a big stage.

Here are a few other highlights-ish moments.

• "And by A-listers I do mean people on A list that has been heavily redacted. And the Golden Globe for best editing goes to: The Justice Department."
• About The Rock and Kevin Hart: "You guys are like Steve Martin and Martin Short for fans under 50 IQ."
• "Fun fact: Hamnet was actually the original name for Spanx."
• "Sinners single-handedly saved Warner Bros. For about a month, but still."

She took loving shots at Sean Penn - "What if I slowly morph into a sexy leather handbag?" - and White Lotus, saying the latter had TV's first incest storyline "since Property Brothers Season All of Them." And let's not forget her spot-on comment about Leonardo DiCaprio.

Not too bad. Somewhat tamer than expected, but also started off by taking shots at CBS News, so not totally tame.

WINNER: Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture - TEYANA TAYLOR (ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER)

Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Garner kicked off the night with something of a surprise win for Teyana Taylor and her butt-crack jewelry.

Love that Taylor got to share a moment with Julia Roberts on her way up.

Also a very good speech, both for her being emotional and truly shocked by the win, and for the inspirational message she ended on.

WINNER: Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture - STELLAN SKARSGÅRD (SENTIMENTAL VALUE)

Bless Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick for bringing the fun husband-and-wife vibes wherever they go. Speaking of, winning actor Stellan Skarsgård thanked his wife for being a "tough lover" and that it's been "very educational." So there you go.

A solid speech and a deserved win, if not the most expected, but arguably nothing about it was more noteworthy than hearing Usher's "Yeah" accompanying the actor on his journey to the stage. (Also proof that no one has a smear campaign against him, as Alexander Skarsgård joked.)

WINNER: Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Television Series - NOAH WYLE (THE PITT)

Priyanka Chopra and The White Lotus star Lisa took the stage to introduce the award, and I almost forgot to listen, given how lovely Lisa's dress is.

But no, this is about The Pitt star Noah Wyle taking home the Golden Globe, of course.

No one saw this one coming, right? Wait, no everyone did. Probably because Dr. Robby recommended a good eye doctor.

WINNER: Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Musical or Comedy Television Series - JEAN SMART (HACKS)

Smartless' trio of nominee hosts came out to take shots at Jason Bateman. And everyone who made "Hacks winning an award" a rule for tonight's Golden Globes drinking game was also taking shots. Since of course Jean Smart took this award home.

Speaking to her being a go-to winner, Smart jokingly kicked off her speech with:

• "What can I say? I'm a greedy bitch."

Whether or not she's greedy, the Designing Women vet is talented enough to keep pulling in the awards. What are voters going to do when Hacks wraps up?

WINNER: Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television - OWEN COOPER (ADOLESCENCE)

No one at the Golden Globes is pulling off the same look as winning actor Owen Cooper.

Cooper is very much still a joyful kid, both at heart and literally in age, with a fun speech where he gave credit to other actors for teaching him while he's still in apprentice mode.

WINNER: Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Musical or Comedy Television Series - SETH ROGEN (THE STUDIO)

Gotta love that The Studio pulled off the act of bringing the Golden Globes into the show, and then Seth Rogen wins for....wait a minute...is this a conspiracy?

SOMEBODY NEEDS TO THANK SAL SAPERSTEIN!! That's the real conspiracy.

• "The other nominees, it's incredible. Steve Martin, Martin Short especially. I remember growing up, watching you guys my whole life thinking 'One day, I'm gonna beat them.' ... I did not think that."

If that kind of shot is right there in front of you, you take it.

Nikki Glaser's Prestige Podcast Ad Is Excellent

The perfect combination of Nicole Kidman's AMC ads and hyper-fandom of podcasts. Loved every second of this, especially a vocal cameo from Blank Check's Griffin Newman for a Bombas socks ad.

WINNER: Best Podcast - GOOD HANG WITH AMY POEHLER

Amy Poehler humbly noted that she's still relatively new to the podcast world, and gave respect to other nominees. But she DID take a humorously irony-soaked poop on NPR.

Also a shout out to Snoop Dogg for looking arguably too fabulous for an award about podcasting.

Can't wait to see if this inspires other award shows to add podcast categories.

WINNER: Best Original Song in a Motion Picture - "GOLDEN" (KPop Demon Hunters)

Nobody got a chance to ask Stranger Things actor Joe Keery anything about the finale before he started announcing the nominees. I dunno about anyone else, but it was not surprising when Keery announced "Golden" as the first K-Pop song to win the Globe for Best Song.

Ejae and Mark Sonnenblick took the stage for an emotional acceptance speech that could easily be in the Top 3 best of the night when all is said and done.

That "KPong Demon Hunters" Spoof Was...Fine

Nikki Glaser making fun of her own singing voice by bringing Fran Drescher out is a good gag. And I also love a good pun, even if KPong wasn't that.

WINNER: Best Screenplay - PAUL THOMAS ANDERSON (ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER)

First, props to the Globes for another superb choice for walkout music: Macaulay Culkin taking the stage to "Return of the Mack." Nothing enigmatic about, but a win all the same.

Speaking of wins, Paul Thomas Anderson understandably took home the win for writing One Battle After Another. Now he just needs to put Culkin in his next movie alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Sandler and whoever else.

WINNER: Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture - ROSE BYRNE (IF I HAD LEGS I'D KICK YOU)

Pamela Anderson and Miley Cyrus presenting this award together made for quite the sight, and also led to the first time anyone's asked this question:

• "Wanna guess where my Bugonia tattoo is?"

But more importantly, I was so worried that Rose Byrne might get overshadowed this awards season by Cynthia Erivo or Kate Hudson or whoever. But thankfully, even though If I Had Legs' category is questionable, her stellar performance won out in the end.

She said she didn't prepare a speech, and her emotional response makes it seem like she truly didn't expect to win. She spoke to the power of indie cinema, pointing out it filmed in less than a month, and was a true passion project for all involved. Let's hope the Oscars follow suit.

Also, Byrne makes quite the colorful statement in this crowd wearing that bright green dress.

WINNER: Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture - TIMOTHĖE CHALAMET (MARTY SUPREME)

A week after taking home the Critics Choice Award for Marty Supreme (and making headlines for thanking girlfriend Kylie Jenner), and also after walking the red carpet solo this time around, Timothėe Chalamet was announced as the Golden Globes winner for his acting chops.

He. humorously pointed out that it would blow his 19-year-old mind if he could go back to tell himself that he'd be thanking Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary for an award, which drew a big laugh from the entrepreneur.

WINNER: Best Performance by a Male Actor in Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made For TV - STEPHEN GRAHAM (ADOLESCENCE)

Fun stuff from presenters Melissa McCarthy and Kathryn Hahn, if not exactly organic to anything happening. Especially when such a serious show ended up winning in the category.

Stephen Graham continued his stream of big acting wins for Netflix's brilliant and heartbreaking series Adolescence. Gotta love seeing fellow winner Owen Cooper filming his former co-star's speech on his phone.

I have to assume the show will win for its standalone category as well.

WINNER: Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for TV - MICHELLE WILLIAMS (DYING FOR SEX)

Not much to say here except congratulations, since Michelle Williams was not present to accept the award.

WINNER: Cinematic and Box Office Achievement - SINNERS

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan's fifth collaboration has arguably been their most celebrated yet, which is amazing considering Sinners is a blues-soaked, crime-infested horror movie. Even though this category is as fluffy as it gets, it's no less deserved for this cast and crew, with the same sentiment going for every nomination the film earned.

Plus, look at how many talented POCs are on the stage. I'm taking back my chide-y comment about the award being fluffy. It's now among the most important awards of the night. I really hope this isn't a sign that it 100% lost out on Best Drama.

The Halfway Point Is Here, And It Could Have Been Funnier

This image kind of sells itself, so I won't give it any further attention.

Judd Apatow Goes On A Silly Rant

From walking out to the track "APT." (timely) to railing on The Martian's categorization as a comedy (not so timely), Judd Apatow got a few minutes to just kind of freestyle rant about stuff. I'd take him co-hosting an awards show at some point.

WINNER: Best Director - PAUL THOMAS ANDERSON (ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER)

Paul Thomas Anderson took this speech to give props to producer Mike DeLuca, and said without him, we wouldn't get movies such as One Battle After Another and Sinners. He also tearfully paid tribute to the late Adam Sumner.

WINNER: Best Motion Picture – Animated - KPOP DEMON HUNTERS

Keegan Michael Key and Mila Kunis are probably hilarious to hang out with. I won't say whether or not that came across during their scripted presenter bit. [Casually shakes head left to right.]

We'll have to wait to see if The Super Mario Galaxy Movie can make any awards-winning progress next year (or whenever it'll be eligible), but this has been an era-defining year for winner KPop Demon Hunters, which has cemented itself as Netflix's biggest original movie to date (with over 500 million total views), an achievement that will be nearly impossible to top for anything that isn't the impending sequel.

WINNER: Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language - THE SECRET AGENT (BRAZIL)

The political thriller The Secret Agent brought Narcos great Wagner Moura back to the forefront for U.S. audiences, and also showcased one of the final roles for the late Udo Kier.

WINNER: Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television - ERIN DOHERTY (ADOLESCENCE)

No one seemed to be more surprised by this win than Erin Doherty herself. Which led to a marquee moment in the night: when the censor messed up and bleeped the wrong part of her speech.

• "I made a promise to my mom that I wouldn't swear on TV, but what the fuck?"

And the "Fuck" was the part that wasn't censored. Standing ovation for that one.

Also love that she also shared love for therapists during her speech.

WINNER: Best Performance in Stand-up Comedy on Television -

Wanda Sykes should be the presenter for all the awards, really. She riffed about all of the nominees after giving Nikki Glaser props. But the most prophetic was this one:

• "Ricky Gervais, I love you...for not being here."

She then joked (or not) that if he won, she would be accepting for him, and that she would be thanking both "God and the trans community" And then he did win, sparking Sykes to ask Teyona Taylor if she could borrow her acceptance speech. It was handled awkwardly, thanks in part to the music coming in as the comedian attempted to say the prepared "Gervais isn't here" bit, but it was still a brilliant burn on her part.

WINNER: Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Drama – RHEA SEEHORN (PLURIBUS)

I won't give any time to Nikki Glaser and Amy Poehler bringing Jeremy Strong's green hat and glasses back from last year's ceremony. Because all attention should go to the deserving Rhea Seehorn for winning out for her stellar performances in Pluribus.

She told me ahead of the CCAs that she was completely dumbfounded by the nominations, not realizing that the show was eligible despite not having streamed all of its episodes by the time the noms were revealed. And then she won both of them!

WINNER: Best Television Drama - THE PITT

R. Scott Gemmill, Noah Wyle and John Wells took the stage to accept the no-brainer win for The Pitt, which will presumably continue to score gold when Season 2 is eligible.

Power to Gemmill for also taking a big part of his speech to shine a light on first responders and healthcare workers like those showcased on the HBO Max drama, and how important they are for the world at large.

WINNER: Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television -

I wonder if it's amusing or annoying when presenter Hailee Steinfeld hears things "Congrats on that Bills win." Hopefully she's cool with it.

In any case, anyone who thought one of the non-Adolescence nominees would win should probably not enter any kind of gambling establishments at any point in the foreseeable future. Of course it won! The Netflix limited series' ability to rake in the accolades knows no bounds.

Creator Jack Thorne gave star Stephen Graham a very special message in saying:

• "Stephen, you are the Larry to my Barry. You fill a hole in my soul, and I love you."

Can't wait to see what they work on together next.

WINNER: Best Television Musical or Comedy - THE STUDIO

Wow, wow, wow. I actually thought Hacks was going to be the show title called out, but Seth Rogen struck gold once again with his Hollywood-skewering Apple TV comedy. Not that I'm against it, since The Studio was easily one of the funniest things on TV in 2025.

Yet somehow, even though guest star Adam Scott was on the stage, NOBODY THANKED SAL SAPERSTEIN! This can't be forgiven. Ever.

WINNER: Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama - JESSIE BUCKLEY (HAMNET)

Okay, I do kind of love Nikki Glaser introducing stars in increasingly bonkers ways, such as implying Chris Pine was a 1970s NBA great. There's always time for comedy, even when there are still several awards left to go.

But don't let that take away from the huge win for Hamnet star Jessie Buckley, who was visibly taken aback when her name was called. And she delivered such a fun and free-flowing speech, too, going so far as to offer up a specific thanks to someone for bringing a giant pot to the production to cook soups and things. A hot meal on set cannot ever be overlooked.

WINNER: Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama - WAGNER MOURA (THE SECRET AGENT)

Hot damn! After The Secret Agent picked up the win for Non-English Film, it was celebrated once more with Wagner Moura's win. Kinda bummed Michael B. Jordan didn't get the win, considering his dual performances, but Moura is a beast on the screen in any capacity.

Love-love-love this part of his speech:

• "I think if trauma can be passed along generations, values can, too."

Obviously values like "ending award shows at their scheduled times" aren't in play here.

WINNER: Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy - ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER

I can't hate on Julia Roberts laughingly calling for the entire room to give her a standing ovation when she came out as a presenter, even at this late-ass point in the ceremony. However, I do not take lightly to her interrupting the winner to talk to Kevin Hart. More like "one unnecessary comment after another," AMIRITE, JULIA?!? Just kidding.

Once again, Paul Thomas Anderson found himself on the stage for a Golden Globes win, this time surrounded by more people at least. But this time around, producer Sara Murphy took the mic to share her own acceptance speech, all while Julia Roberts stood behind him with a grin as big as the day is long.

WINNER: Best Motion Picture – Drama - HAMNET

This show cannot stop interrupting itself, but once again, I cannot hate on this, because Don Cheadle makes everything better.

They certainly tried to stretch things to its limit, though.

Still, that extended bit led to the biggest award of the night, with Chloe Zhao's Hamnet winning out. (Totally predicted it ever so many hours ago!) Steven Spielberg took the mic first before passing it on to Zhao, who looked like she might not ever get over the win. Hopefully she can ride that wave of positivity and joy for as long as possible.

Her touching and emotionally grounded speech will go a long way towards keeping fans talking about the movie. Gotta love that she shouted out Ryan Coogler in the midst of it, also.

Nikki Glaser Closes Out With A Rob Reiner Tribute

Though she didn't give him a specific shout out, Nikki Glaser honored the slain filmmaker Rob Reiner to end the show by wearing a Spinal Tap hat and saying:

• "Well that's our show. This one went to 11."

Love it. Especially for a ceremony without an "In Memoriam" segment.

My Biggest Winners Of The Night

Here's a shortlist of all the night's biggest winners in my eyes, whether or not they actually earned the right to pay for trophies to be delivered to their homes weeks later.

• Whoever hand-stitched Elle Fanning's dress
• Severance, because it's my favorite TV show
• Sinners' Delroy Lindo, because he wasn't nominated
• Whoever programmed the walkout music for presenters and winners, particularly "APT." for Judd Apatow
• The Pitt, Adolescence, KPop Demon Hunters, Hamnet, One Battle After Another and all of the actual winners, for actually winning
• You, dear readers, for showing up for another year of marginally okay fun times with the Globes

With some notable exceptions (like Jonathan Demme’s The Silence Of The Lambs), horror does not have a great track record when it comes to awards season in Hollywood. Movies about monsters and terrors have a tendency to get overlooked by various guilds, organizations, and voting bodies for major prizes. Given this history, it wasn’t terribly surprising this past weekend to see Ryan Coogler’s Sinners (CinemaBlend’s favorite film of 2025) miss out on some of the big prizes at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards – but if you’re among the cinephiles keeping hope alive for the work to receive proper acclaim and hardware in the months to come, you’ll appreciate the nominations that have just been announced for the 2026 Actors Awards.

Formerly known as the SAG Actor Awards, the Actors Awards announced the films and stars up for trophies at the upcoming SAG-AFTRA-centric ceremony, and while Sinners didn’t collect the most nominations of any big screen title (that superlative goes to Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another), it did get the silver medal in that regard. The movie is up for five of the six available prizes, with the only exception being “Female Actor in a Leading Role.” The nominations for the Ryan Coogler film are as follows:

• Cast Ensemble in a Motion Picture - Sinners
• Male Actor in a Leading Role - Michael B. Jordan
• Male Actor in a Supporting Role - Miles Caton
• Female Actor in a Supporting Role - Wunmi Mosaku
• Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture - Sinners

One Battle After Another bested Sinners in the nominations count by having Chase Infinity nominated for “Female Actor in a Leading Role” and both Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn up for “Male Actor in a Supporting Role.”

The Actors Awards marks a good chance for the blockbuster film from last spring to get some love that it didn’t get from the aforementioned Critics' Choice Movie Awards – which I say while acknowledging that Sinners took home four prizes on Sunday, including “Best Young Actor/Actress” for Miles Caton. The movie may have won for “Best Casting And Ensemble,” but the stars struck out in the four major acting categories, with those trophies going to Marty Supreme’s Timothée Chalamet (“Best Actor”), Hamnet’s Jessie Buckley (“Best Actress”), Frankenstein’s Jacob Elordi (“Best Supporting Actor”) and Weapons’ Amy Madigan (“Best Supporting Actress”).

With the nominations now established, final voting for the Actors Awards will take place between January 14 and February 27, and the ceremony will be broadcast live for Netflix subscribers on March 1 – exactly two weeks before the Academy Awards (which will have Conan O’Brien back as host). Per Variety, there is an 80 percent match rate between the winners at the two shows going back to 2009, so if Sinners can get a lot of love from SAG-AFTRA in early March, it may end up with more than a few Oscars mid-month as well.

The hit HBO Max series Hacks never fails to entertain, and Jean Smart took home a very deserving award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series as the Critics Choice Awards aired Sunday on the 2026 TV schedule. In my book, however, the show had won even before trophies started getting handed out, thanks to Paul W. Downs and Megan Stalter's red carpet look. The fan-favorite duo cosplayed as Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner in matching orange leather, with the Hacks co-creator even sporting the ping pong paddle bag.

The chemistry between Paul W. Downs’ Jimmy and Megan Stalter’s Kayla is a big part of why Hacks is one of the best shows you can stream with an HBO Max subscription, and that chemistry was on display in spades on January 4, when they posed on the red carpet like they were method dressing for Marty Supreme:

The look, complete with a ping pong paddle shoulder bag, is clearly a nod to the matching orange leather outfits that Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner wore to the Los Angeles premiere of Marty Supreme.

I’m actually impressed with how much attention to detail was paid, with the Hacks buddies not just striking the same poses that the celebrity couple did on the red carpet back in December, but getting the smallest details of their outfits just right. If you need a refresher, this was their inspiration:

From their orange footwear to the expressionless looks at the camera, Paul W. Downs and Megan Stalter definitely did their homework. In addition to the outfits, both sported jewelry to match the lovebirds. Stalter’s large cross necklace and hair and makeup to match Kylie Jenner’s is especially impressive.

Orange has been a big part of the Marty Supreme marketing campaign, with Timothée Chalamet also sporting the color with his mom at the movie’s New York premiere. Kylie Jenner has continued to shimmer in the happy hue on her Instagram page, drawing rare public acknowledgment from Chalamet, who gave his approval of the skintight gown.

Speaking of public acknowledgment, the Critics Choice Awards featured a moment that one might have expected more from Jimmy and Kayla — who are pretty openly adoring of each other on Hacks — than from the famously private couple. When Timothée Chalamet accepted the award for Best Actor, he thanked The Kardashians star, saying:

In the end, I absolutely loved Paul W. Downs and Megan Stalter’s ode to one of the most intriguing celebrity relationships, and seeing them together again really makes me hopeful that we’ll get that Jimmy and Kayla spinoff that the showrunners have discussed.

See more of these two on the first four seasons of Hacks, streaming on HBO Max with a fifth and final season on the way. Marty Supreme, meanwhile, is in theaters now.

The Barbie movie was absolutely everything in 2023. From getting everybody to embrace pink in their wardrobes to making poignant statements about the demands put on women and still reminding men that they are “Ken-ough,” there were few things bigger happening in pop culture. One of the best celebrations of Barbie came at the Oscars, with Ryan Gosling’s performance of Best Original Song nominee “I’m Just Ken,” but according to Simu Liu, pulling the number off was much harder than it looked.

There were questions about whether or not Ryan Gosling would perform “I’m Just Ken” at the 96th annual Academy Awards, and according to Barbie’s “Rival Ken” Simu Liu, there were a lot of unknowns pretty much up to the last minute. He told Collider:

Brilliant is a good word to describe it. From the symbolism behind Ryan Gosling starting his performance behind Margot Robbie to including Emma Stone in the scene, he and the dozens of actors around him even had Martin Scorsese feeling the “Kenergy.”

With that caliber of celebrity in the crowd — not to mention how many people were watching the live broadcast — was Simu Liu nervous leading up to the number? He said:

It was a lot of pressure, to be sure, as the number came together so quickly and went through multiple choreography changes, but he said between Ryan Gosling and their choreographer, they were able to avoid anything disastrous. The Marvel actor continued:

That would be the same Mandy Moore that Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone worked with on La La Land and the same one who choreographed a little thing called Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, so yeah, it’s possible that Simu Liu is being a tad dramatic.

I totally get it, though, because on the other hand, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu and the rest are not Taylor Swift, so they’re not used to the demands of live performances and ever-changing choreography. In the end, however, they were more than Kenough.

It’s once again time to look back at everything we’ve watched so far on the 2025 TV schedule and beyond in order to celebrate and honor the very best that broadcast, cable and streaming platforms have to offer. Or, you know, whatever shows everyone in the TV Academy voted for, even if they don’t square up exactly with audience expectations. Praise Kier For All These Severance Nominations!

Holy ORTBO, people! One of the biggest winners of the day is already Severance, even months before the actual awards get handed out. If anyone was worried about the Apple TV+ drama not making much of an impact after a three-year absence, the whopping 27 Emmy nominations is proof that this show is a critical darling of the highest order.

Season 2 earned NINE acting nominations — Jane Alexander, Patricia Arquette, Zach Cherry, Gwendoline Christie, Britt Lower, Adam Scott, Tramell Tillman, John Turturro, and Merritt Wever — and the other 18 nods were across a variety of different categories. From various Picture Editing nods to a pair of Outstanding Direction noms to ones for stunts, music composition, visual effects and more.

Oh yeah, and Outstanding Drama Series, the biggest award of the night. I'm a huge Severance obsessive, so if the show wins all 27 awards, I would come away happy. (And also confused, since several of the nominated talents are competing against each other in the same category, and thus would make it impossible for all 27 to win, but nothing is impossible at Lumon.)

The 6 Most Glaring Drama TV Snubs From The 2025 Emmy Nominations

Even with all the Severance nominations at play, I could still spend the next 10-15 minutes yapping about all the parts of the show that didn't get attention for. But none of that would readily count as a snub, so let's take a look at some of the examples that actually count.

In no discernible order:

1. Barely any love for the long-anticipated final season of The Handmaid's Tale or its star/producer Elisabeth Moss. The only nominee for the previous Oustanding Drama winner is Cherry Jones for her guest spot.
2. For all the nominations that The White Lotus did earn, this is the kind of show that's an embarrassment of acting riches where everyone is relegated to Supporting categories. But it's worth pointing out that Michelle Monaghan and Patrick Schwarzenegger were two of the core stars who did not get recognized by the TV Academy.
3. The Pitt's cast readily deserved more acting honors than the three that were announced. Noah Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, and Shawn Hatosy were certainly deserving, but what about other standouts like Fiona Dourif or Tracy Ifeachor or Taylor Dearden? The list goes on.
4. Allison Janney should probably get an automatic Emmy nom anytime she stars in anything, and her work on The Diplomat did not prove to be an exception to that assumption.
5. Somewhat rare is the Outstanding Drama or Comedy series that doesn't earn nominations for any of its lead and supporting actors, while Star Wars Emmy noms are even rarer. But for all that Andor racked up a ton of below-the-line appreciation, the only two performers nominated are Alan Tudyk for Voiceover and Forest Whitaker for Guest Actor.
6. I guess I didn't really expect Yellowjackets to have a ton of sway with Season 3 nominees, but it still feels like a big middle finger to the horror genre.

The 6 Most Glaring Comedy TV Snubs From The 2025 Emmy Nominations

Now let's thumb our nose at the TV Academy voters whose actions led to the following comedy-centric snubs.

1. I get that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is like Emmy kryptonite and may have a lasting effect on its stars, but I don't understand how Kaitlin Olson missed out on a full trio of nominations. She definitely deserved it for heading up ABC's High Potential, she definitely deserved it for her emotional return to Hacks' fourth season, and she probably deserved it for guest-starring as Sweet Dee in Abbott Elementary's big crossover episode. Get your shit together, dawg.
2. After getting nominated in 2022, 2023 and 2024, Tyler James Williams missed out on his first Emmy nomination since Abbott Elementary began. To me, that’s shocking. One, because he’s remarkable as Gregory, and arguably gave one of his best performances in Season 4, as his relationship with Janine flourished. However, this also highlights a long-standing snub too, as Chris Perfetti was left out once again of the Supporting actor category. So, all around, it’s shocking and disappointing that the actors of Abbott didn’t get nominated. (Written by Riley Utley)
3. Let’s talk about a long-time Emmys oversight: The Righteous Gemstones. Across its four seasons, it has received ten nominations, but none for the major categories, which is a shame. The fourth and final season was remarkable, and while I’m thrilled it picked up six nominations, it should have gotten more. I wish Danny McBride, Bradley Cooper and the cast got nods for their performances. And it 100% should have been a frontrunner for Outstanding Comedy. However, it’s sadly never been a contender. I am very pleased that What We Do In The Shadows earned a nomination for Oustanding Comedy for its absolutely superb sixth and final season, but I'll never understand how this cast doesn't get more awards love. If you have Harvey Guillén hosting the nomination announcements, it sure would be nice if he was also listed among them. R.I.P. Guillermo's Emmy dreams.
5. Yes, I'll keep the horror bent going here by endlessly griping that Agatha All Along was completely shut out of any acting categories, while Kathryn Hahn did earn a nomination for her work on The Studio. Certainly well-deserved, but I know somebody put some kind of hex on this shit. Was it Wanda? So jealous.
6. How is Natasha Lyonne not an automatic lock for this category? She's this generation's vape-pluming Jessica Fletcher, and she deserves awards.

CinemaBlend's Laura Hurley Is Hyped For Matlock, Shocked By Pedro Pascal

Before dipping into another list of big snubs, let's turn back to the positive side for some good vibes from CinemaBlend's own Laura Hurley.

Once upon a time, Emmy nominations were full of network TV shows getting awards love, but that changed with the advent of premium cable and streaming dramas. I’m delighted to see that after Kathy Bates took the top prize for Best Actress as the 2025 Critics Choice Awards for her work in CBS’ Matlock, she has officially been nominated for Best Actress in a Drama at the 2025 Emmys. Not only is she the only star representing network TV in a Drama category, but she has made history as the oldest nominee for Best Actress at the age of 77. I’m rooting for network TV to get some love this year, and Kathy Bates has certainly delivered the kinds of performances as Matty Matlock to deserve an Emmy.

The Last of Us finally returned for Season 2 after two years of hiatus, but fans wouldn’t get another full batch of episodes with Pedro Pascal opposite Bella Ramsey. His character, Joel Miller, was killed off in just the second episode, and Pascal would ultimately only be credited with three of the season’s seven episodes. Don’t get me wrong – I cried when Joel was killed off despite thinking I’d pull through without any tears, but I was still surprised to see Pascal nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series. I’m not predicting that he’ll win up against stiff leading man competition, but I did a double take when I saw him nominated as a lead.

The 3 Most Glaring Limited/Unscripted TV Snubs From The 2025 Emmy Nominations

Now let's cap off our closer look at Emmy snubs with Limited Series and Unscripted categories.

1. I'm not sure what anyone is meant to glean from this, but the fact that both Late Night with Seth Myers and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Kimmel were left out of the Talk Show category's THREE nominations cannot mean great things.
2. Am I wrong for thinking LEGO Masters is still one of the most feel-good reality TV shows out there? Plus, Will Arnett is as great a host as it gets, and he'll be the first, second, and third to agree.
3. Anytime a mainstay nominee like The Voice goes without a nod, it's a shock. And one that leaves the door open for other shows to swoop in.

Timothée Chalamet may not have been among the 2025 Oscar winners, but he sure was at the center of attention during the ceremony. He was seated front and center, and the camera cut to him often, especially when jokes were made about him or a film he was in was mentioned. Then, he went viral simply for being there, as fans noticed around the time Best Actor was called that his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, moved to sit behind him rather than next to him.

Now, an insider is sharing insight as to why this allegedly happened, and if they’re right, it’s super sweet.

Many Noticed That Kylie Jenner Moved To Sit Behind Timothée Chalamet When Best Actor Was Called

During the telecast of the 97th Academy Awards, and specifically during Conan O’Brien’s monologue (and Adam Sandler’s crashing of said monologue), Kylie Jenner was sitting front and center. As you can see in the image above or by rewatching the ceremony with a Hulu subscription, she and Timothée Chalamet were holding hands and watching the show together. However, when it came time to announce Best Actor, fans noticed that she moved to sit behind him.

Then, a video of the two sharing a kiss went viral on TikTok thanks to lonniegal, clearly showing Jenner sitting behind her boyfriend while his mom, Nicole Flender, took the front-row seat next to him. In the clip, the actor was seen leaning back to share a kiss with his girlfriend before leaning over to interact with his mother, while the caption claimed that it was so “[Timothée] could sit next to his mom during best actor.”

During the telecast, when Adrien Brody won the Best Actor award, this move could be seen too. Thankfully, the A Complete Unkown star was wearing bright yellow, so he was easy to spot. After locating him, it became clear (if you look hard at the image below) that Jenner was behind him while his parent was next to him in the front row:

Now, you might be wondering why this happened or if it was planned while the fans gush over what was seemingly a sweet move. Thankfully, an insider shared some claims about why this seat swapping happened.

According To An Insider, Kylie Jenner Moved So Timothée Chalamet’s Mom Could Sit Next To Him

I assumed Jenner made this swap so Chalamet could be by his mom during this potentially monumental moment. At the SAG Awards, when the actor gave his now-viral “greats” speech, his mother was sitting right next to him the whole time, so this all seemed logical. According to an insider who spoke with Page Six, that is indeed why the Kylie Cosmetics founder gave up her chair, as they explained:

Isn’t that just the sweetest thing ever? I already thought Jenner and Chalamet were a power couple after they were seen sitting together at the Golden Globes and other prestigious events. However, this move solidifies that point.

Speaking more about The Kardashians star’s reaction to the night overall, the source also claimed that she’s very proud of her boyfriend, saying:

Overall, the Best Actor race was tight, with Adrien Brody as the primary frontrunner with Timothée Chalamet poised as the other potential winner. Ultimately, it went to The Brutalist actor. However, that doesn’t diminish the Dune star's accomplishments as an actor or the sweetness of this gesture.

Demi Moore is having quite the season, winning awards for her role in The Substance. Many thought she was the favorite to win the Oscars’ Best Actress trophy as well — which was just one of the five Academy Award nominations Coralie Fargeat’s film received. No matter how the cards fall, Moore was a winner already when she walked the red carpet in a silver number that seemed to nod at her character Elisabeth Sparkle.

Anyone watching the 97th Academy Awards on the 2025 TV schedule or following along with our live Oscars blog could see that Elisabeth was sparkling indeed when 62-year-old Demi Moore donned a dazzling silver dress with a plunging neckline and corseted waist to walk the carpet for Hollywood’s biggest night. The dress was custom Giorgio Armani Privé — the same designer who did her winning Golden Globes look. As per usual, Demi Moore wore her long dark hair down, falling over her shoulder with a bit of a curl, and for jewelry she sported just a few statement pieces, including diamond drop earrings, a gorgeous bracelet and ring. Seeing the best of Hollywood walk the red carpet at the March 2 awards show makes me excited for what’s to come on the 2025 movie calendar, but what a special night to stop and take a moment to honor the best films of 2024.

It’s official, the 2025 Grammy’s will be attended by none other than the queen herself, Taylor Swift. The pop superstar has been confirmed as a presenter for the evening, and has been nominated six times for her 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department, along with her collaboration with Gracie Abrams. The world will be watching to see if she nabs the gold statue yet again for her musical prowess, and if she will be attending the event with boyfriend Travis Kelce. However, reports are predicting the latter likely will not happen, as she is expected to walk the red carpet alone.

Why? Let's just say it's delicate.

Why Is A Tayvis Appearance At The Grammys Highly Improbable?

The obvious culprit, per Us Weekly, due to Kelce’s demanding NFL schedule. The tight end will be joining his team, the Kansas City Chiefs once again in the SuperBowl, hoping to win the championship for the third time in a row. The team is in the middle of an incredible run, closing in on a record breaking NFL dynasty. Kelce is one of their best players, and likely won’t be able to sneak away from his intense practice schedule to attend the award show with his superstar girlfriend.

It’s also important to note Swift has never walked the red carpet with any partner. Despite being in various high-profile relationships over the years, including her six-year partnership with actor Joe Alwyn, the Fortnight singer has always appeared at awards shows solo. Swift likely is used to having the individual attention, and probably won’t mind rocking out to the incredible Grammy’s performances with her pals and fellow nominees as she has in the past.

On the other hand, Swift is expected to be at the Super Bowl next weekend to support her beau. She was in attendance last year, and was spotted having a blast and chugging beers with her friends and the Kelce family. She has also been in the (pricy) suite at almost every Chiefs game this year, as her touring schedule settled down when The Eras Tour came to an end in December. She has been ever supportive of her boyfriend, rocking a new cute outfit at every game she could. They have an adorable relationship, and it's worth noting Kelce made several appearances at a number of shows on the Eras Tour, and even joined her on stage for a performance.

While Taylor Swift has famously called her relationships “delicate” due to the intense pressure of the public eye, it seems like Kelce’s expected absence at the Grammys has little to do with the spotlight. The couple has done an impressive job navigating the high-profile nature of their relationship, while also not being afraid to go public and enjoy each other during nights on the town. Even if Kelce’s Grammys debut is unlikely, you never know what could happen with this couple, and they may just surprise us this weekend. Either way, the famous athlete is always in Swift’s corner -- even if it's from a distance.

When people talk about “awards season” they’re usually referring to awards for movies, like the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs, and the Oscars (which recently announced 2025 noms), but not all of the upcoming awards shows are movie-related. In fact, the Grammy Awards hit in February, as well. It’s the most prestigious award in music, which is why it blew my mind to discover just what goes into making a Grammy statue, because it’s not even close to what I would have guessed.

Considering just how many Grammy Awards are given out every year --Disneyland even won a Grammy once -- I assumed that it took some sort of major operation, an assembly line to rival the auto industry, to produce them all. Apparently not. Grammys are built by hand by four guys in the mountains of Colorado. Yes, it's true, and that's not the only surprising fact about these awards.

The Grammys Are Made By Four People

A story in the Los Angeles Times reveals a lot of details about the Grammy Awards that not only did I not know, but I never would have guessed. The biggest revelation is that every single award is made by hand by a guy named John Billings and his three craftsmen at a workshop in the town of Ridgway, Colorado. It also takes about 15 hours to produce one Grammy.

Billings apprenticed Bob Graves, who produced the first Grammys. When Graves passed away, Billings bought the business and has been doing it ever since. Bill Freimuth, the former Senior VP of Awards for the Recording Academy explained why the Grammys still makes its awards this way, saying…

There’s certainly something to be said for knowing the award you’re holding was handmade by an artist, and one can imagine that musical artists appreciate that. Of course, it does mean that not every single Grammy is absolutely identical, but Billings says that is part of the charm of it all...

One has to imagine this is especially nice for the likes of Taylor Swift and Beyonce, artists who have so many Grammys that maybe they particularly appreciate that each one is a tiny bit different, and handcrafted to boot.

The Grammy Award Increased In Size (And TV Was Involved)

The general design of the Grammy Award hasn’t changed since it was first handed out in 1959, but that doesn’t mean the award hasn’t gone through some changes. In the early 1990s, the award was made about 30% larger, and the reason had to do with television.

Apparently, the feeling was the old award was too small, so when people were watching the Grammy Awards on TV they had trouble seeing what they really looked like. Increasing its size fixed that problem. It was also made less fragile, as the tone arm on the award tended to break off, so it was made sturdier in the workshop.

Winner’s Aren’t Given “Real” Grammys On Awards Night

While the Grammys may have been increased in size for TV, it turns out that doesn’t mean what the artists are handed that night are the actual awards. The show uses “stunt Grammys” for the telecast, then the winners are sent their awards later.

This allows the engraving of the awards to be handled at the workshop. This marks a significant difference from other awards. The Oscars that are given out on the show are the real thing, and winners get their Oscars engraved at the afterparty.

Taylor Swift Accidently Destroyed One Of Her Grammys

Taylor Swift has won 14 Grammys in her career, and she has the chance to win several more this year. Hopefully, if she wins a few she’ll have better luck holding them than she did back in 2010. That year she won four awards, and ended up dropping one and smashing it into pieces. Billings now has the destroyed award, along with a note from Swift that read “Oops.” Maybe that’s why they don’t hand out the real awards on the show.

The 2025 Grammy Awards will be an exciting contest. Beyonce is competing in several country music categories but she's also going up against some massive talent in the general categories including Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Chappell Roan.

Remember the Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson Fast & Furious beef? It's been a long time since we've heard anything about whether the two action stars are friends or foes, but I definitely wasn't expecting the 2025 Golden Globes to be the place for them to interact. At least I have the internet to validate me following the awkward reunion they just had. (Check out our awards live blog if you didn't watch!)

It's wild to think it was close to a decade ago when Dwayne Johnson went off about his Fast and Furious co-stars on social media thus beginning the beef. Here's what happened at Sunday's award show:

Considering Vin Diesel hasn't been in a movie all year, it was certainly a surprise to see him take the stage during the Golden Globes to give out an award. The star came on stage later in the show to present the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement to the Wicked movie's cast, director and producers. Since Dwayne Johnson was in attendance as a presenter as well and up front, Diesel gave him a "Hi" when he walked on stage, followed by a big ol' grin.

It was a tense and kind of hilarious moment, and I'm happy internet reactions like this exist:

Following the infamous slap at the Oscars a few years ago, it does always feel like anything can happen when a bunch of celebrities get together, but this was of the "mild and kind of wholesome" variety, given the lack of on-screen fireworks. It was sort of sweet to see Vin Diesel acknowledge his longtime colleague, but like myself, some fans are wondering if there were ulterior undertones behind that "Hey."

Last we heard about The Rock and Vin Diesel by way of the Fast and Furious franchise was in November, when Diesel shared a photo of himself and The Rock from an earlier franchise entry where he said he was looking forward to "a reunion of that beautiful brotherhood" along with getting "back to real street racing" and "practical stunts" in the next installment.

Fast X: Part 2 is currently slated for the summer of 2026, and is expected to be the end of the franchise after 25 years. Considering The Rock was part of a mid-credits scene in Fast X, we expect Luke Hobbs will be back in action in the future.

It's just unclear if that will be for the next Fast movie and/or the spinoff movie he previously announced in 2023. To our knowledge the movie has not yet begun filming, but we'd expect to learn more about it this year, as we'd imagine the production would need to kick off some time in 2025.

When it comes to award season, Timothée Chalamet has long been a favorite on the red carpet and a frequent nominee for his transformative performances. He was nominated for an Oscar for Call Me By Your Name, and he's received four nods from the Golden Globes all before the age of 30. Even with the frequent recognition, Chalamet has yet to accept one of the major accolades. So, recently, he opened up about what he does with his unread award show speeches, and how strange it can feel to throw them out after losing.

The Wonka actor was interviewed on SiriusXM radio, where he chatted about his upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, and getting nominated for yet another Golden Globe in 2025. While he is honored for the recognition, he admittedly has been nominated multiple times before and has yet to actually accept the trophy. When asked about what he does with his prepared speeches, he got candid, talking about the awkward and self-reflective moment where he has to throw them out. He said:

While the self-deprecating humor might surprise some fans, it’s this mix of charm and humility that has made Chalamet a beloved figure in Hollywood. Actors in general are aware of the absurdity of awards season, however, they often personally put a lot of weight on awards as well.

The 28-year-old actor has been a fixture of awards season for years now, and he understands it all quite well. Having conflicted feelings about winning and losing and preparing for the outcome makes a lot of sense considering his position.

Even if he may feel defeatist and silly throwing out his awards show speeches upon losing, preparing a speech when you’ve been nominated for a major award isn’t narcissistic. The last thing an actor probably wants is to get on stage to accept an award and immediately forget all the people they wanted to thank. Prepping a speech is the right move, even if throwing it out in the wake of losing feels a bit awkward, it’ll all be worth it when he finally does accept his award.

Chalamet especially should be preparing awards speeches. He may have lost the Golden Globe three times previously, but even his losses were likely close calls. He is one of the buzziest movie stars on the scene, and has had two major movies on the 2024 release calendar, Dune Part 2 and A Complete Unknown. He is a contender for both the Golden Globe and the Oscar for his Boby Dylan movie, so he should expect to write yet another acceptance speech, even if he may not use it. If this isn’t his year again, it’s still only a matter of time before the Lady Bird actor takes home the trophy.

The simple but blunt response is exactly right, and so on brand for The Office UK star. A crowd–virtual or in person–can tell if someone on stage is being real, and it's great to know that Gervais made the point very clear to Glaser.

She then explained some of his other words of wisdom, which again, are realistic and to the point:

There’s a reason why Gervais was asked back time and again to host, he understood what the show needed to succeed. So, his advice is solid and should be taken, and it seems like that's exactly what Glaser is doing.

Gervais and the others Glaser reached out to all seemingly mentioned that the room in person is noisy too. They shared that it's more important to talk to the audience at home instead of waiting for the in-house crowd to quiet down, which the 2025 host seemed to be thrilled about. I’m sure that it’s more essential than one may seem to think, especially if the comedian is used to performing to an attentive audience. However, I'm positive the stand-up will thrive in this environment.

Overall, I am excited to see Glaser get up on that historic stage with solid advice in hand and guide the annual good time award show into its 82nd year.

Waiting for a new season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is always a slog, so it’s great to be at a point where the hyper-talented co-stars can be seen in all kinds of other TV shows and movies in the meantime. Fans like myself are currently waiting for Kaitlin Olson’s new dramedy High Potential to hit the Fall TV schedule, but it was her deserving work on HBO’s Hacks that made Olson one of the 2024 Emmy nominees.

Unfortunately for Hacks fans, when the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series winner was announced at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony, it wasn’t Olson’s name that was in the envelope, but The Bear’s Jamie Lee Curtis, who won for her Season 3 performance as Carmy’s mom Donna. Ever the gracious nominee, Olson took to Instagram to share her A+ explanation for why she was just fine with losing to Curtis.

Now, there was probably a sincere amount of disappointment involved, as is natural for such an event. But props to Olson for making it through to the other side with her smile intact and a fantastic outlook, albeit a self-deprecating one. She can leave it to fans like me to gripe about how deserving she is.

For all that I understand her work as Dee Reynolds on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is 20% of a do-or-die ensemble, making it slighly more difficult to affirm whether it's a lead or supporting role, can we just agree here and now to nominate her in both categories? She doesn't need to win both, because that would be too much. (The same goes for past Emmy winner Danny DeVito, who deserves more for his work as Frank.)

While the Emmys may have chosen Jamie Lee Curtis, the Hacks Instagram team gave Kaitlin Olson this sweet shout out in the comments:

The comments were filled with loving replies from fans who agree that she's long deserved Emmy noms and wins for her work on Always Sunny and the canceled-too-soon magnificence The Mick. Not to mention compliments for her gorgeous look for the ceremony alongside her adoring co-star and hubby Rob McElhenney.

Of course, McElhenney broke the Emmy curse with the two wins he shared with his fellow producers on Welcome to Wrexham, which won for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program in both 2023 and 2024. It remains to be seen whether that streak will continue, but his smile certainly looks confident enough in Olson's post seen below.

Though the Creative Emmys were already handed out, the Primetime Emmys proper will air on ABC live on Sunday, September 15, and will be available to stream the next day with a Hulu subscription.

It was a night of excitement, surprises, and the signature green slime for Nickelodeon's 2024 Kids' Choice Awards. The turnout was strong, featuring guests like Adam Sandler, Jelly Roll, and Heidi Klum. GLADD winner Reneé Rapp, also in attendance, accepted the award for Favorite Breakout Artist, and was hit in all directions by green slime when she got on stage to give her speech. She took it like a champ, but it’s the photos she posted after that sparked some controversy with the post-Nickelodeon crowd.

After being slimed, Rapp took to Instagram to post photos from the night, and the slimy pics in question were considered by some to be over-the-top in relation to kids programming. She took some sexy pictures, seemingly in a restroom at the event, while caked in the slime. The photos ended up taking the Internet by storm after being reshared on X, where users didn't offer up the most positive reception. You can see the photos from social media below:

While some fans thought it was cool of the entertainer to embrace the sliming and have fun with the aftermath, others found the photos inappropriate, considering the Nickelodeon slime is a kids thing. Maybe this was the time to keep the sexy photos off of social media, as one fan seemed to suggest with their reply on X to the photos:

Another fan echoed the same sentiment, pointing out that the sliming took place on a network that's geared for family viewing.

For context, Reneé Rapp did not pose like this on stage at the awards ceremony that aired on Nickelodeon. She barely flinched and mostly stood still while the green slime hit her in the face. The photos she posted were taken after and posted on her personal Instagram, which has age restrictions.

Those arguably racy pics are also amidst a number of pictures on the “It’s Not My Fault” singer’s social media that aren’t targeted at children or meant for their eyeballs. In addition, Rapp’s music is very adult, with her latest album being marked as “Explicit.” Also, it’s worth mentioning that Rapp gained notoriety as part of the cast of Sex Lives of College Girls.

Due to all these factors, a lot of Rapp’s fans came quickly to her defense, and even complimented the singer on the photos and questions. Despite the slime, many thought she still made the whole thing look effortlessly cool. As one fan said on X:

Whichever way people seemed to feel about the pictures, Rapp doesn’t seem to care, and looks like she had an absolute blast at the event, smiling big with her Nickelodeon blimp in hand afterward. The slime tradition is supposed to be a way for stars to let loose and have fun. It has a long history, and has been endured by celebrities like Robert Downey Jr. and Katy Perry.

Rapp certainly embraced being in such good company, fully loving the moment. And it doesn't appear as if anyone had any complaints about her on-screen reactions. Say what you will, but nobody knows how to make a splash like Reneé Rapp.

The 2024 SAG Awards were truly an occasion for celebrating both for those in attendance and those streaming with a Netflix subscription. The event was populated with stars, with several fun match-ups for presenters, seeing as how pop culture reunions are a staple of the SAG Awards. Both the Breaking Bad ensemble and the cast of The Devil Wears Prada reunited for the occasion, while one unexpectedly fun exchange happened between Billie Eilish and Melissa McCarthy, whose great bit really got audiences laughing when the “Bad Guy” singer signed the Bridesmaids star's forehead. Of course, the internet had the best responses.

When Eilish and McCarthy took the stage to present Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series, it became quickly apparent that hilarity would ensue. The Mike and Molly alum expressed her love for the pop star, and asked Eilish to sign her forehead. The “Ocean Eyes” artist rather quickly obliged and signed McCarthy’s forehead with a Sharpie. She could barely keep it together while doing so, and giggled the entire time, as seen in the viral clip from Netflix below: 

The crowd of actors was laughing at the ridiculous bit the whole time, especially considering how long it took Billie Eilish to finish signing McCarthy’s forehead. One fan thought the it was hilarious, expressing their delight on X, saying: 

This was a sentiment shared by many, with some also expressing confusion, albeit the happiest version possible, over the goofy situation. A X user said:

McCarthy has yet to post a close-up picture of her temporary ink, but I’m not sure anyone making such signage permanent is a good thing. Still, I’m loving this enthusiasm. 

The SAG Awards is one of the last lead-up ceremonies before the Oscars, and many 2024 Oscar nominees were present at the SAG Awards. It’s safe to say a lot of the stars are probably tired from their long awards campaigns, but McCarthy and Eilish were still able to brighten up the ceremony, and everyone seemed to love their chemistry. I’m sure that Sharpie was probably not the easiest to remove from McCarthy’s forehead, and the comedic actress certainly made a sacrifice for the joke to land. When it comes to Melissa McCarthy, though, I wouldn’t expect anything else than full commitment to a bit. 

This moment between Billie Eilish and Melissa McCarthy  was one of many great presentations at this weekend’s SAG Awards. Anything can happen at the VMAs. MTV’s annual celebration of music videos has always been a hub for pop culture happenings, and with the 2023 show featuring performances by everyone from Olivia Rodrigo to Cardi B, September 12 should be a fun night of the hottest music out right now. Shakira and Sean “Diddy” Combs will receive the night's special honors, but who else will be taking home a Moon Person? Will Taylor Swift surpass Beyoncé and Madonna for the most wins in VMAs history? Follow along with me for a rundown on the winners, performances and other unforgettable moments. 

We’re less than a half-hour away from emcee Nicki Minaj kicking off the 2023 VMAs, and while we wait the MTV pre-show has been giving us a peek at some of tonight’s amazing fashion moments. Video Vanguard honoree Shakira is stunning in a gold gown, while Kelsea Ballerini and her partner Chase Stokes color coordinated in red. I can’t wait to see more! 

Lil Wayne kicked things off in a big way, proving that this night is all about hip-hop. The whole crowd was moving with him. He then passed the baton to Olivia Rodrigo, who slowed things down for a moment with “vampire” before rocking out to “get him back.” It was an entertaining opening to the show.

However, it was when Nicki Minaj made her entrance in a gorgeous pink gown with a matching veil over her face that the crowd really could not contain themselves.

This is not a drill. The members of N*Sync are all together on the VMA stage! Taylor Swift — who has officially made her entrance — was on her feet as the iconic boy band took the stage to present the first award for, appropriately, Best Pop. 

The winner for BEST POP: Taylor Swift, "Anti-Hero"

Taylor Swift has officially won her first award of the evening out of the eight she's nominated for. BFF Selena Gomez stood to cheer for the announcement. The Eras Tour artist nearly couldn't get over N*Sync being her presenter in order to make her acceptance speech, and she insisted that there must be a reason they reunited. I'm with Taylor -- is there a performance in our future?

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion just KILLED IT on stage with their performance of “Bongos,” and nobody was more into it than Offset. Check him out:

The winner for SONG OF THE YEAR: “Anti-Hero” by Taylor Swift

Nelly Furtado and Timbaland presented the award to a still-starstruck Taylor Swift. The Midnights artist had 14 Moon Person trophies coming into tonight, and with eight nominations, she has the opportunity to surpass Madonna, who currently leads the pack with 20. With her two wins so far tonight, Swift has now tied Beyoncé at 16. 

The winner for BEST R&B: SZA, “Shirt"

SZA was not in attendance to accept the award. Before announcing the winner, presenter French Montana sent love to his native Morocco, which suffered a devastating earthquake that reportedly killed thousands. He said he is setting up an emergency fund to help. 

Doja Cat just put on a clinic in what many on social media were calling their favorite performance so far. Many celebs — including Tiffany Haddish and resident VMAs fangirl Taylor Swift — were seen rocking out in the crowd to “Attention,” “Paint the Town Red” and “Demons.”

Well if anybody could follow up Doja Cat’s appearance, it would have to be someone as impressive as Shakira. The 2023 Video Vanguard recipient took the stage to perform a 10-minute medley, and not even the flames that flared all over the stage were as hot as the Colombian singer. You know those hips were going strong, and Shakira seemed to be having the best time. The performance ended with her standing on a podium high above her captivated audience. 

MTV kindly allowed Shakira the length of a commercial break to recover from her performance, before accepting the Video Vanguard Moon Person. She thanked many people who have helped her on her visual journey, before mentioning her family, her children and lastly the fans: 

Woo, go ice those hips now. 

The winner for BEST LATIN: Anitta, “Funk Rave”

Anitta said she owes everything to her fans, shouting out the support she has in Brazil and Mexico. She also thanked herself because she works so hard. More of this self-love and recognition please!

Backstage cameras appeared to show Megan Thee Stallion arguing with Justin Timberlake. There’s been a lot of speculation on the socials about what was said between the two, but a source for Variety said there was “zero fight,” while ET’s insiders said it was actually a sweet moment between the two. Timberlake reportedly told Megan, who was getting her hair fixed, "It's so nice to meet you," and she responded, "No no this don't count, this don't count, we gotta meet proper." See the exchange below: 

It certainly doesn't look like a friendly exchange, but for now, sources are insisting there’s nothing to see here. 

Mary J. Blige introduced Sean Combs, aka “Puff Daddy.” aka “Diddy,” saying he’s earned the title of “icon” as not just for his music, but for what he’s done for other artists, his businesses, labels and, last but not least, as a father. His son King Combs was among the rappers who joined him on stage for his own extended medley, and when the time came for him to accept the Global Icon award, his oldest daughter Chance was given the honor of presenting it. Diddy was absolutely giddy, jumping and dancing before accepting the Moon Person from Chance, with his other children joining him as well. 

The winner for BEST AFROBEATS: Rema & Selena Gomez, “Calm Down”

Best Afrobeats was a new category for the VMAs this year, and the first honors went to Rema and Selena Gomez. 

The winner for BEST HIP-HOP: Nicki Minaj, “Super Freaky Girl”

The emcee of the night also got her flowers, and Nicki Minaj accepted the Best Hip-Hop award with “gratitude,” before exiting the stage by shouting, “It’s Barbie, bitch!”

The winner for BEST COLLABORATION: Karol G and Shakira, "TQG"

Shakira and Karol G brought the house down with their performances earlier in the night, but the Latina ladies weren’t done. The duo won for their steamy — and salty — collaboration, “TQG,” and the Colombian singers were sure to shout out their home country in their acceptance speeches.

She’s 3-for-3 so far. Taylor Swift was honored for her work as the director of her “Anti-Hero” music video, and since, “Direction is a team sport,” according to the artist, she brought her team up to accept the award. Will anyone be able to beat her tonight?

The winner for BEST NEW ARTIST: Ice Spice 

Ice Spice accepted her award from last year's winner, Dove Cameron.

A lot of different genres of music were recognized tonight during the VMAs, but as I said before, the night ultimately belonged to hip-hop. The 50h anniversary of the genre was celebrated with a third extended medley that featured some absolute icons. LL Cool J, DMC, Doug E. Fresh, and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five did hip-hop right, along with Nicki Minaj. Lil Wayne opened the show with a bang and he helped to close out the show with the same energy.  

The winner for VIDEO OF THE YEAR: Taylor Swift, “Anti-Hero”

Another win for Taylor! Of the four categories she was nominated in that were shown on the four-hour broadcast, she swept the night. However, there is some confusion amongst fans on social media about winners in multiple categories that weren’t announced. The VMAs ended without telling us who won for Artist, Album and Group of the Year, Best Alternative, Cinematography, Visual Effects and Editing. 

NBC pulled out all the stops to bid Blake Shelton farewell on the Season 23 finale of The Voice earlier this year. The fan-favorite coach became the final member of the show’s original panel to walk away following 12 years in the Big Red Chair. It turns out that goodbye was more of a see you later, as the country star will return to the network to be a part of the inaugural People's Choice Country Awards. There’s a sweet reason behind Shelton’s appearance, too, as he’ll be presenting one of the night’s biggest honors.

Blake Shelton will present the first Country Music Icon award to Toby Keith, when the first ever People’s Choice Country Awards air live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 28. The former coach of The Voice is “eager,” per NBC, to pay tribute to the fellow country music legend from Oklahoma. The presentation will apparently be one of the most exciting of the show, as Cassandra Tryon of NBCUniversal said: 

That’s certainly a meaningful reason to return to the network where Blake Shelton spent over a decade of his life. This isn’t the first time he’s stepped up for his friend Toby Keith, either. Last November the “Come Back as a Country Boy” artist filled in for Keith as the headliner of the Veteran’s Day concert “A Salute to Our Heroes,” when Keith was forced to pull out as he continued to recover from stomach cancer.

The “Red Solo Cup” singer revealed last year that he’d been diagnosed with cancer in Fall 2021, and spent much of the next six months receiving chemotherapy, radiation and undergoing surgery. Blake Shelton made a lot of sense as his replacement at the Veteran's Day event, given the artists’ shared connection to the military. Shelton’s father served in the honor guard in Korea following the Korean War, and his brother served in the Army, while Toby Keith’s father also served in the Army.

It also seems fitting that NBC was able to call on Blake Shelton to help them honor the “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” artist, and it’ll be fun to see him again, even if it’s not as a coach on The Voice. The singing competition may have lost its resident cowboy, but the country music genre is still very well-represented, with Reba McEntire replacing Shelton for Season 24, which premieres September 25. Country duo Dan + Shay, as well, will make history as the first coaching duo in Season 25 next spring.

While the Screen Actors Guild Awards aren't necessarily known for sparking high-profile and viral moments from its presenters and winners, such was the case for the 2023 telecast, in part due to a seemingly awkward on-stage moment involving Aubrey Plaza, her White Lotus co-stars, and her underboob-friendly dress. But now that the dust has settled, one of those co-stars explained the moment as being more innocuous than others first thought.

Why Fans Thought Aubrey Plaza Was Angry On SAG Award Stage

The White Lotus fans know that each season’s cast gets pretty chummy while filming in the HBO series’ picturesque locations, with Aubrey Plaza and Meghann Fahy having tripped on shrooms together while on location. But SAG Awards viewers suspected something was off at one point when the cast and crew took the stage after winning the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. 

As F. Murray Abraham gave an empowering thank you speech that touched upon various topics, fans were quick to notice Plaza’s specific demeanor behind him. Her arguably stern look changed up after Jon Gries got her attention and seemed to address a potential wardrobe malfunction involving her underboob’s prominence. She adjusted accordingly, but didn’t necessarily look overly enthused once everyone started hugging each other, and she appeared be jostled around.

The most shared moment from the speech though, came when the Parks and Rec vet seemed to mouth “Jesus Christ” out of annoyance. To be sure, this behavior wasn’t entirely out of character for the actress (or her characters for that matter), who’d recently revealed she stole a note off of then-Veep Joe Biden’s White House desk in order to prove a point. But some fans were still believing she was sincerely peeved. 

What Actually Happened, According To The White Lotus' Jon Gries

The way Jon Gries explains it, Aubrey Plaza wasn’t bothered at all in the moment, either by his comment about her dress or about what was happening around her. Speaking with Page Six, the actor says he'd initially realized that Plaza was being blocked on stage by others, so he'd motioned for her to look forward. At that point is when he suggested she might want to adjust her dress, but says she was just being "funny" whenever she mouthed "Jesus Christ" and was expressing faux outrage over the idea that her underboob needed to be covered. In his words:

Plaza, who reconnected with her Parks and Rec femmes for a Galentine's Day post, isn't exactly known for leaning into her provocative nature so much as exuding sardonic wit. But if she wanted to give her underboob credit on stage for being part of why The White Lotus' ensemble took home the trophy, who are we to stop her?

That fashion choice wasn’t so wild in comparison to another White Lotus vet, Sydney Sweeney, who recently pulled off a massive butt-necklace-kinda-thing at the Berlin Film Festival. Meanwhile, Zendaya rocked the SAGs with necklaces worth over $2.7 million combined. So if you’ve got it, whether it’s your underboob or pricy jewels, flaunt it. 

Taylor Swift fans are mighty, so much so that droves of them led Ticketmaster to basically break when a historic influx of buyers logged on the site to try and grab their tickets to her upcoming Eras Tour. In the aftermath of tons of Swifties facing the wrath of Ticketmaster, the Senate even called a hearing about the situation. Yep, that’s their power. The recent ordeal was the subject of a joke by Trevor Noah during this Sunday’s Grammys as the host called for Swifties to fix egg prices while sitting next to Swift. Just a couple days later, prices actually fell. 

So, are Swifties actually magic, or what? Before we break down what’s going on with egg prices in the United States, check out the Grammys moment between Taylor Swift and Trevor Noah: 

During the Grammys moment, Trevor Noah commended Taylor Swift for having “the best fans in the world,” noting what they did with Ticketmaster, which now may see a change in policies as a result of what went on with the Eras tour. Noah then asked if the fans could take that sheer power and put it into handling the price of eggs. Swift responded by saying “there’s really nothing that they can’t accomplish” before saying they would “get on it.” 

As you may have noticed if you’ve been grocery shopping over the past few months, eggs have been a lot more pricey lately. Due to a historic outbreak of bird flu in the U.S., Grade A eggs previously rose to record highs to over double their usual price. However, as CNBC reported, coincidently just a couple days after the Grammys, egg prices could finally be on the decline again. It has us double-taking whether Swifties somewhere somehow are behind the sudden shift in the egg market. They were certainly encouraged by the Grammys moment, posting things like this on Twitter: 

The actual news report does not include any reference to Swifties somehow landing on some loophole to lower egg prices following the Grammys moment, so it looks like this is a huge coincidence, but that’s not going to stop Swifties from theorizing about the whole thing (or all of us having fun with it), because it’s what they love to do. 

It’s not enough that Easter eggs in music videos for Taylor Swift’s upcoming music are already all the rage; now actual eggs are in the public conversation alongside Swifties. The report came thanks to trends around egg wholesale prices falling, perhaps signalling that retail prices will soon follow. While this is more than likely a chance occurrence, maybe we should get Swifties on more of our widespread issues? 

Taylor Swift won on Sunday night for Best Music Video for “All Too Well,” which Taylor Swift directed and starred Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink. Coming off her critical-acclaim for what was also essentially a short film, Swift is set to direct her first movie with Searchlight Pictures. Treat yourself to a big omelet in her honor! 

Saturday Night Live alum and comedy veteran Jason Sudeikis has been in the game for a while now. But more recently, the actor has been making waves for playing the titular character in Ted Lasso. The acclaimed comedy has been picking up its fair share of honors during awards season and, just last night, it swept at the 2021 Critics’ Choice Awards, winning in all three of its nominated categories. Sudeikis was humbled by the honors and, in accepting one award, he gave a sweet shout-out to ex Olivia Willde… and, yes, he was wearing another hoodie.

While accepting the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Comedy Series, Jason Sudeikis thanked his two kids before thanking their mother, Olivia Wilde. He also sweetly recalled how she suggested he do a Ted Lasso TV show:

The nod was definitely a sweet moment for what was already a sentimental and humorous speech. And following Jason Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso wins, Wilde took to social media to share her congratulations with an A+ tweet:

When it comes to Jason Sudeikis’ hoodie, I think Olivia Wilde just said what most celebrities are thinking. It’s hard for anyone to deny just how comfortable Sudeikis’ awards show attire looks. The actor previously wore one when accepting his win at the Golden Globes a few weeks ago and later revealed it was branded merchandise from his sister’s New York-based dance studio. So while it was a stark change for an awards show, there was a bit of sentiment behind his decision.

But Jason Sudeikis’ wardrobe aside, it was nice to see the actor thank his ex-partner for her role in the development of Ted Lasso. Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde split up last year after being together for nine years. All in all, the split seems to have been amicable, and the two are reportedly working together to co-parent their kids. Now, their recent exchange is only further evidence that the two still have plenty of respect for each other as artists and as people.

At present, both Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde have been quite busy, with Sudeikis working on Ted Lasso Season 2 and Wilde directing Don’t Worry Darling and an upcoming Marvel movie. One can assume that as time goes on, the former couple will continue to support each other in their endeavors. And one or both of them may or may not be wearing a hoodie when they do so.

Up until the last few years, having a host at the Oscars was a longtime tradition. Over the years, countless stars have taken on the job and have brought their own spin to the storied awards show. It’s unclear how the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science will proceed in the coming years and some have questioned whether a host is still necessary. Thought that hasn’t stopped some people from throwing their hats in the ring for the position, and that includes Aubrey Plaza, who has even dubbed herself “this generation’s Billy Crystal.”

CinemaBlend’s Jeff McCobb recently caught up with Aubrey Plaza to discuss one of her newest films, Black Bear. During the interview, the Oscars came up and, when asked if she would consider hosting, Plaza responded positively, jokingly comparing herself to actor and comedian Billy Crystal:

On the surface, Aubrey Plaza’s answer may sound a bit sarcastic, but the actress would truly love to host the show. She further explained that she holds a lot of fond memories of the Academy Awards shows of the ‘90s and loved the fact that hosts really used to “put on a show”:

Aubrey Plaza is definitely one of the most unique personalities in Hollywood and has already proven that she can be an entertaining host. Earlier this year, she hosted the Independent Spirit Awards, where her signature sarcasm and dry wit were on full display. All in all, she has the chops for the gig and could carve out a place for herself in Oscars history alongside people like Whoopi Goldberg, Steve Martin and Billy Crystal.

Crystal has actually shared some thoughts on the Oscars going without a host for the foreseeable future. The comedian loves the show’s usual tradition of having a host and believes that when you have a lengthy ceremony like the Oscars, it helps to have a host who can mine entertainment from the unpredictable nature of the show. He makes a fair point, as Jimmy Kimmel can tell you just how unpredictable the show can be.

Hosting the Oscars may not be for everyone, but it definitely seems to be a dream job for Aubrey Plaza. Hopefully, the Academy will take notice of her interest and provide her with the opportunity to give viewers an unforgettable show.

The Daytime Entertaiment Emmy Awards are a pretty mixed bag in terms of content and genre. While the primetime Emmys focus on comedy, drama, reality and miniseries, The Daytime Emmys range from morning shows to game shows, children's programming and soaps. The nominations for the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards were announced and CBS came out on top in total nominations, with 50. PBS trailed behind with 44 nominations, and ABC earned 38. For CBS, it was The Young and the Restless that helped it hit the top spot, earning almost half of the network's nominations, with 23. For ABC, it was General Hospital, which secured 19 nominations.

While soaps account for a lot of the nominations - Days of Our Lives earned 17 and The Bold and the Beautiful earned 15 - other types of programming also held their own among the top nominated shows. Sesame Street earned 17 nominations, including one for Kevin Clash, who voiced Elmo in the long running children's program, up until last year when he resigned due to allegations of sexual conduct with minors. Clash is also listed among the executive producers and directors nominated for other categories for Sesame Street.

Among the other top nominated children's shows are R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour (9 nominations), Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness (7 nominations) and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (7 nominations). The latter mentioned series was cancelled by Cartoon Network earlier this year, and fans will likely be pleased to see it among the list of nominated series this year.

The hilariously loud and opinionated Billy Eichner was among the hosts nominated for Outstanding Game Show Host. He's joined by Cash Cab's Ben Bailey, Let's Make A Deal's Wayne Brady, Family Feud's Steve Harvey and Jeopardy's Alex Trebek.

Let's Make A Deal's Monty Hall and The Price is Right creator Bob Stewart will be honored this year with lifetime achievement awards.
