It’s a well-documented fact that the Baywatch movie cast really trained hard to get fit. The Rock's pretty much always fit, but amped things up for the movie. Zac Efron has most notably talked about going overboard to the point where he set unrealistic standards for himself. His co-star Alexandra Daddario also worked hard for her Baywatch body, and nine years later she’s still holding onto those abs.

Daddario is a well-known yogi and has partnered with Alo Yoga before while getting bikini fit. Whilst on Baywatch, she admitted to adding strength training into her routine to help those muscles pop. She’s kept up her deep core workouts in the time since, however, and showed off the work during an episode of White Lotus a few years later. Now, she’s sharing exactly how she’s kept fit with some deep core moves.

There's some glute work in there, but I mostly love she's doing a reverse crunch into a shoulder stand, which is great for isolation. These moves have been trendy on social media in recent years as people have moved away from the crunches and situps that dominated traditional workouts for years. With isolation exercises like these you can really hone in on either your upper or lower abs, and these aren't crazy fitness moves that only mavens could do. Anyone can try or work into what Daddario is doing here.

While spot targeting is a myth, and fat loss is always ultimately the best way to land a 6-pack, you do really need to be working out all abs and not just upper abs. This is a really good way to achieve that, and it’s nice to see Ms. Daddario still going hard with work outs years after her swim-forward film. Of course, she doesn’t need to worry about looking “supernaturally” fit these days, but wanting to stay in shape is never a bad goal, particularly for someone who spends a lot of time on camera as Daddario does.

The now 40-year-old actress (I know, time flies) and her ex Andrew Form had a kid back in the fall of 2024 before their split. Moms everywhere know getting back into shape afterward is no mean feat. It’s on brand that she’s sticking to her roots with yoga and pilates moves, and it’s nice to see her going about her workouts with intention. Plus, I'm always enthusiastic when celebrities share how they do it at the gym, even if her Baywatch co-star The Rock and others are sometimes reticent to do so. I’m just saying, more where this came from, please.

Even if you’ve never seen an episode of Baywatch, you’re still probably very familiar with the iconic red one-piece swimsuit that the female lifeguards wear on the show. It’s as famous, if not more so, than the show itself. And with filming for the reboot underway on the beach in California, we’re about to see a whole lot more of its new cast. Along with seeing more of them, we're also learning more about working on the show, and why filming on the beach and in that suit is both a chore and an honor.

Cast member Shay Mitchell spoke about working on the beach, putting on the swimsuit, and how, while it is very exciting to wear the iconic red costume and act by the ocean, it is, well, work. It's true, filming in a swimsuit may not always be so blissful, as the cast of the original series can attest; however, it's also great. Speaking to those points, the Pretty Little Liars star said on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle:

While she didn’t dive into details about why she doesn’t want to go to the beach for a while after they wrap on Baywatch, it’s not hard to imagine why that’s the case. When you spend so many hours in the California sun, it’s hot, you have to pick sand out of your hair, and it’s likely exhausting. However, overall, as the actress said, “The office is great,” but the beach is her job now, and work-life balance is important.

But don’t misunderstand, Mitchell is still grateful for the opportunity to wear that swimsuit, which is such an identifiable part of the series. The Dollface star said:

Mitchell is no stranger to iconic TV shows. After seven seasons playing Emily on Pretty Little Liars, she’s made her move to Baywatch as Trina, a former lawyer who left a top-tier firm to become a full-time lifeguard. Joining her on the beach, Stephen Amell is set to play Captain Hobie, the now-adult son of David Hasselhoff’s character from the original series, and reality star Brooks Nader will play Captain Selene.

The original series debuted in 1989, running for 11 seasons with an ensemble that, along with Hasselhoff, included Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, and Jason Momoa. Just because the reboot is a fresh take on Baywatch, from Burn Notice creator Matt Nix and executive producer McG, that doesn’t mean you won’t see some familiar faces. Actor David Chokachi, who played Cody Madison for three seasons on the original show, will be returning, while Erika Eleniak, Kelly Packard and Michael Bergin will guest star. Oh, and we can't forget the fact that this new show will also take place on the beach and feature those iconic red swimsuits.

Until the reboot debuts, we won’t know much about what type of stories they might tackle over the 12-episode season, but any good TV drama will likely have its share of tension, romance, and various obstacles to overcome. It will also be interesting to see how relationships evolve among the new cast members. According to Shay Mitchell, the Baywatch reboot will focus its first season on the friendships between the characters:

With the series being based around Mitch Buchannon’s son, Hobie, and a handful of familiar O.G. Baywatch faces already set to appear, the door is open to plenty of Baywatch cameos, especially if it’s a hit. It sounds like all the pieces are in place for what could be a really fun time, so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out once it debuts.

However, in the meantime, I hope the cast is having fun filming on the beach in those incredible red swimsuits. I hope they get a nice break from them too, because as Mitchell implied, you can't be on the beach all the time, and while this gig is an honor, it's also still a job.

I love everything about Fox’s quirky charmer Best Medicine. Josh Charles is rarely a miscast, Port Wenn is a picturesque setting, the rom-com component is twisty, and the side characters are divine. So, obviously, I assumed this series was going to be cancelled after one season. Turns out, it avoided the axe this spring, which is great news. Even better news? It will return in the fall instead of the spring. Sadly, this doesn’t mean what I initially hoped it would mean.

News broke this week that Best Medicine will hit the 2026 TV schedule on September 22. This continues its Tuesday night airing slot on Fox, and it will still be lined up with Doc. It also means we won’t have to wait until midseason for new episodes. I honestly thought this was great news when the date came down the pipeline, because Season 1 had aired in a tougher dead of winter slot. Bumping it to fall shows confidence in this little series, which makes me happy.

When Best Medicine initially aired, it only got a 13-episode order, which is honestly sometimes normal for network TV shows the brass aren’t sure about, and is particularly typical for shows airing at midseason. However, if you have watched a network TV show or two over the years, you should know most scripted programming still gets significantly more than a Baker’s dozen of episodes. Really popular shows, like NCIS, can sometimes get 24.

It’s not unusual at all for Fox to hand down shorter episode orders for new shows hoping to reel viewers in. For example, Baywatch is getting the midseason slot at the start of 2027, and will have 12 episodes, similar to what Best Medicine was given when it kicked off. This gives the network the chance to see if a show works.

Because Best Medicine was shifting to fall, I was really hoping it would get more episodes, and I sort of got my wish. Season 2 will feature 14 episodes rather than 13. I really shouldn’t complain, as that’s an improvement over Season 1, but what I’d really hoped for was a full episode order, something more akin to 22 episodes. That way we would have gotten new episodes throughout the entirety of the fall and spring schedule.

As it stands, I’m almost wondering if Baywatch will slot in to the Best Medicine slot in the spring.( I also think waiting on this show may be a mistake.) As you can see from the first trailer for Baywatch, the two shows really don’t have much in common, but I do think there’s something endearing about swapping from the most quintessential small coastal town on the east coast to the larger, flashier west coast.

Fox has put on a mini-clinic in how to advertise a TV show. The example being used today is the upcoming reimagining/requel Baywatch, which is set to make its debut as a midseason entry (which feels less than ideal for a beach-set drama). Is there a better way for the network to market this series than with swimsuits and slo-mo, the two elements that made the original series' intro so classic? I doubt it.

Case in point, we finally have a decent look at several of Baywatch's new characters in (heavily slowed) action, with everyone donning the signature red suits. And sure, the marketing team could have tacked on another minute of footage focusing on plotlines, side characters, and other elements, but it all comes back to those two key ingredients. Hit play below and indulge in the sweaty nostalgia.

Okay okay okay, so I technically fibbed. The last bit, where we actually get some dialogue, is in real time, and Stephen Amell is fully clothed, as opposed to being shirtless and faux-riding an ATV. But Amell's Hobie and Hassie Harrison's Nat agreeing that they share "the best job ever" hardly derails the swimsuit-iness shown just prior. If anything, it cements the idea that that this existence is bliss. (Granted, filming in a swimsuit may not always be so blissful, but that's to be expected.)

Plus, the preview starts off with Amell's Hobie in lifeguard mode, followed by Harrison's Nat, so there's no mystery behind what their costuming will look like. Their shots are followed by Noah Beck's Luke leaping over people lying on the beach, then Jessica Belkin's Charlie Vale rushing forward worriedly. Not to forget about Livvy Dunne in her acting debut as Grace, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Brooks Nader as Selene, and Shay Mitchell as Trina. It's quite a good looking cast, to say the least.

I certainly hope that we get to see the new Baywatch crew letting off some steam when their shifts are done, as hinted at by the final shot of everyone in a bar. That said, it won't just be new recruits populating this new show, which is also bringing in Mary McConnell as Hobie's mom and Charlie's grandmother.

Fans. can look forward to seeing returns from several stars from the global smash's original sydicated run. We have David Chokachi back as Cody Madison, with Kelly Packard once again playing April Giminski, while Michael Bergin and Erika Eleniak are returning as J.D. Darius and Shauni McClain, respectively. No word yet on whether or not David Hasselhoff will return to complete the Buchanan family connections, but here's hoping.

Though it unfortunately won't be hitting Fox before the 2026 TV schedule wraps, Baywatch will be making its debut soon after the new year arrives.

I am over-the-top enthusiastic to see what Fox is able to do with the Baywatch revival. I feel like I need to point this out first thing. I’m pumped to see Stephen Amell on board, I’ve been genuinely excited about how excited the ladies have been to throw on the infamous red suits and get to work, and I think everyone’s had a sweet attitude despite knowing how tough it can be to actually film this series. Seriously, I’m a fan of what’s coming, but I do think Fox has already made a mistake with the Baywatch reboot. Hear me out.

First, I Think Fox Has Done An Excellent Job Marketing Baywatch

From the second Baywatch was announced, Fox has done a great job with the marketing piece. There was the splashy casting of Amell and several ladies who already have large social media followings like Brooks Nader, Livvy Dunne and Shay Mitchell. After the Baywatch cast rounded out, Fox set up an actual casting call event that inspired thousands of people to show up in costume for a chance at a role on the network TV series.

Our eyes were largely on the show at this point, and it hadn’t even started filming. So, then when the show did get off the ground, the hype was incredible. Right now, people are very interested in the drama from a novelty standpoint, and seeing if the models and social media stars can really pull their weight on the small screen. There are some haters, but in general the goodwill is there, and there’s reason to believe that people will at least tune in to give the series a chance. However, this is where Fox has completely lost me, and the fall 2026 TV schedule is involved.

I Think Holding The Show Until Midseason Was A Huge Miss

The latest tease we got for Baywatch has come during this World Cup Run. In it, fans just get an extremely short clip of Brooks Nader slow motion jogging across the screen. The logo for the series flashes, and we get the show’s premiere date: “Coming January Fox (Next Day On Hulu).”

Listen, Fox. The hype is here now. It’s bikini weather now. People are ready to see what the series is all about right now. You hold this show for the dead of winter, and I’m not sure the reception is going to be as high. Not only am I less interested in seeing fabulous people in tight swimsuits when it’s 20 degrees out Fahrenheit, I just don’t know how the network is going to sustain interest at this level for another six months.

It honestly feels like an impossible task. Most network TV hits the schedule in September. Network programming usually gets 22-24 episodes a season, but this isn’t always the case. Freshman shows in particular sometimes get a partial order, and Baywatch is getting 12 episodes for Season 1.

Something similar actually happened for Stephen Amell’s last series, Suits LA, which only got 13 episodes for its inaugural season on NBC. That series was later canceled, so it never got a full network order run. I don't want that to happen with his new show.

I get it, sort of. With a partial order, the network needed to either pick the front of back half of the season to air Baywatch. There’s less competition in the spring, and I’m sure the thought process was it would be easier to launch when everyone’s already-established favorite shows aren’t returning at the same time.

In the meantime, there’s only so many clips of Stephen Amell riding fake ATVs I can be amused by before I feel like I’ve already mostly seen what the series will offer prior to its release. I still think the show could be a fun breath of fresh air for Fox as a network (which sorely needs more originals dramas), but I really wish it was coming in September.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been nearly a decade since Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario donned the famous red swimsuits for Baywatch. If we need any evidence that time passes swiftly and that everything comes full circle, just shortly before the movie turns 10, Fox will be premiering its brand new and heavily hyped Baywatch revival TV series at midseason. Ahead of this, Efron is now warning against having to stay so fit.

I would be remiss if I didn’t note it’s well-known Zac Efron’s swimsuit-ready body on Baywatch was a slog for him. He’s spoken out about it before, saying he went so hard in the paint with workouts and eating he got depressed and the experience totally “burned” him “out.” He learned from that experience, and so when he did The Iron Claw a few years later, he figured out how to beef up in a way that was healthier.

These days he has a better perspective on his fitness, and he really wants those working themselves to the limits to take heed, telling Heat Magazine:

While it’s certainly hard to stay Baywatch fit, I do think it’s worth noting the reboot on Fox is in good hands. It stars Stephen Amell, who is known for his Green Arrow physique and whom I have seen doing literal salmon ladders to keep his fitness as in check as possible. If you’ve seen footage of him on the Baywatch set, it’s hard to believe the man’s in his mid-forties; he’s got some Tom Brady genes going on.

People hang onto body fat at different rates, and the diligence it took on the 2017 movie makes it clear the level of consistency and sacrifice it took Zac Efron to maintain was not healthy. He said it took some soul-searching to get to a place where he’s more comfortable with himself and what he wants.

He moved to Australia and away from the Hollywood limelight years ago, and more recently he’s been in the news lately because he’s building a sustainable compound with the help of designer Joost Bakker that’s being dubbed a “Futurecave.” I doubt we'll be getting a cameo from him in Fox's upcoming production given he feels about how he punished his body in the pursuit of physical perfection.

Believe it or not, Baywatch has always been a grueling job; even the OG cast attests to that. But it's also iconic, aspirational, and fun. The idea of the show coming back was so popular that thousands of people showed up for a casting call, and there's a whole new generation of men and women who will "only run in slow motion now" as the show gears up. Hopefully, they have a better relationship with fitness than Efron did when Fox's reboot hits the 2026 TV schedule this fall.

After talks in 2024 about a Baywatch TV project being in development, the upcoming lifeguard-centric reboot series is getting off the ground. So, bring on the red swimsuits, the slo-mo running sequences, and the sun-soaked beach drama that will surely keep audiences afloat (so to speak). Now, just when you thought you couldn’t get enough Baywatch content, priceless BTS footage showed a shirtless Stephen Amell looking pretty serious while hilariously fake-riding an ATV.

If you loved watching Stephen Amell in action on Arrow, then prepare to see him trade his green superhero suit for those red trunks in the upcoming Baywatch reboot. He’ll be playing the adult Hobie Buchannon in this Baywatch cast, who will be walking in the footsteps of his father, the OG character Captain Mitch Buchannon. Now, while the original series was known for its campy content, it doesn’t look like the reboot is far from it, as the footage of a shirtless Amell fake-riding an ATV is absolutely priceless:

So, that’s how it’s done! I’m honestly surprised that the actor can keep a straight face. With a screen in the background showing sandy roads speeding past him, the shirtless Suits star wearing red trunks is just sitting on a stationary ATV.

How the talented actor was able to film this scene seriously, I’ll never know. Based on this footage, it looks like the cast didn’t need any ATV training to pull off the high-speed beach sequences after all.

As the Baywatch reboot won’t be premiering until 2027, footage of the new Fox series has been short but sweet. The first Baywatch footage had no problem showing the new cast in their red swimsuits, slo-mo running towards action. It looks like not only will the reboot series take place on the same beach as the OG, but it will feature similar signature elements that made the ‘90s series such a pop culture sensation.

The BTS set photos are also exactly what I’d hope to see, too: a new generation of lifeguards posing in the sand with sunset landscapes making an appearance. Even new star Brooks Nader showed off her set photos of how she “perfected mouth-to-mouth” with her CPR training.

Through each BTS post we get, it looks like the new series is keeping the familiar elements of the original beachy drama series while also modernizing itself for new audiences. And with Stephen Amell fake-riding an ATV, I also have a feeling the upcoming series won’t steer away from campy action sequences either.

A serious-looking Stephen Amell fake-riding an ATV for the Baywatch reboot may not have been on my Bingo card, but I’m not complaining! If the Fox TV series continues delivering priceless footage like this, I’m fully convinced audiences are going to get a real kick out of the anticipated revival.

While the surfside series may not be releasing until early 2027, there’s still plenty to watch on the 2026 TV schedule that’ll keep you entertained until then. You can also watch the OG series that started it all with an Amazon Prime subscription.

As Baywatch prepares to return to television with Stephen Amell and others in the mix, former star Erika Eleniak is speaking out that working on the original show was harder than one might think. The Shauni actress confirmed that while she and her co-stars might've looked glamorous onscreen, filming in the beach in those red suits could be pretty uncomfortable at times.

With Fox preparing to bring lifeguards back to television once the 2026 TV schedule winds down, Eleniak spoke to Rewind Magazine about the times when filming on a beach in a swimsuit wasn't all it was cracked up to be. In fact, she said it was at times more difficult to shoot than other shows, and explained the factors that played into that:

Baywatch was a show that thrived on fantasy, and unfortunately, the reality of what it took to create it sounds rough. Carmen Electra previously chimed in about the swimming element of the show, telling the cast that staying in shape to prepare for those scenes is vital. That shouldn't be a problem for Amell, as he did enough salmon ladder climbs on Arrow to last a lifetime.

Even getting cast in Baywatch was a challenge, as Erika Eleniak detailed the multiple rounds of casting she had to go through just to get her job as Shauni. Callbacks are standard in the industry, but I agree this number feels a bit excessive:

Times have changed a lot since then, and we'll even have a star from the OG on the new Baywatch to speak to that. Kelly Packard filmed scenes on the set, and so far has had no complaints about the newest entry. I'll be interested to see what newer cast members like Brooks Nader will have to say, and if they've found ways to minimize any discomfort when filming the series.

That said, there are downsides to working on every set, it seems. I think of CW Arrowverse stars who complained about the discomfort of wearing their superhero costumes, which I'm sure Stephen Amell can speak to. At the end of the day, I wonder if he prefer a swimsuit or his super suit?

The latest Baywatch series follows Hobie Buchanon, Mitch's son, as he continues the family tradition of patrolling and helping others on California's beaches. Little does he know, he'll be passing the torch to his daughter Charlie (played by Jessica Belkin), who he didn't know existed until recently. The footage I've seen so far looks promising, so we'll see how this show turns out when it finally premieres.

The Baywatch revival is headed to Fox in January 2027. It's going to be cold where I'm at, so I'm sure I'll appreciate a show that takes place on the beach to give me some reprieve from the cold winter months.

Filming for the new series kicked off earlier this year, and photos have leaked from set featuring the Baywatch reboot's cast donning the iconic red swimsuits and running on the beach. The show will welcome few OGs, and another franchise icon, Carmen Electra, has advice for the newbies, which I think they should listen to.

Electra starred as Lani McKenzie in Season 8 of Baywatch and, while she only starred in one season of the lifeguard drama, she certainly made a big impact. To that point, she’s already got one new cast member taking after her, as Brooks Nader has been taking cues from her and Pamela Anderson. While speaking with E! News, Electra was asked to share any advice she had for the reboot's new stars and, aside from opining that they should “always be ready,” the starlet said this:

Any show is hard work, no matter what the circumstances are but, with a series like Baywatch, the stars have to remain in good shape and train accordingly. I'd imagine that can be a lot of pressure. Lead actor Stephen Amell, who stars in the new series as Captain Hobie Buchannon, previously shared how intense prep was for Baywatch. Of course, he’s no stranger to a tough training regimen, having portrayed the Green Arrow for eight years, yet this latest show is a different beast, and Amell's also not as young as he once was.

Staying in tip-top shape might have been hard for Electra, but she also recalled having some help on set. There was a real-life lifeguard who would come on to direct some of the episodes and in turn, give some pretty tough feedback to the cast. Based on the comments shared by the Scary Movie star, this particular beach monitor really wanted everyone to commit:

To me, it wouldn't be surprising if the Baywatch reboot had some actual lifeguards on set, much like how a procedural or medical drama has real cops/firefighters/doctors/nurses either in the writers’ room or as on-set experts to help make the show feel more real. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some real lifeguards involved in some part of the creative process. Also, given that there are franchise vets on set, including David Chokachi and Kelly Packard, I would hope they'd impart some wisdom to the newbies.

I can only imagine the kind of work put into Baywatch, especially since there's apparently some Avengers-level action. At this point, I'm excited to see how the reboot compares to the original and, in the meantime, I'm loving that Carmen Electra and other series alums are showing support.

As the Baywatch reboot continues to film, Brooks Nader is making waves. The model-turned-reality star-turned-actress will be starring in the new Fox series as Selene, Captain of the Zuma Beach lifeguards. She knows she’s not necessarily an actress but, in her own way, she's still be very prepared to take on this new role. To that point, Nader has long known how to rock swimwear and, while she's long been a big fan of bikinis, it seems her new gig is changing that.

Nader has definitely shared photos of herself rocking various bikinis and, as a Sports Illustrated model, she’s definitely had to rock the two-piece ensemble. Every once in a while, though, she surprises people by wearing a one-piece, as evidenced by a post she shared in 2025 before landing Baywatch. Apparently, her turn as a lifeguard has been impacting her choice of swimsuit, as she told Page Six Style about her more recent preferences:

Filming for Baywatch is ongoing after kicking off in February, and I love that Nader has apparently taken the one-piece swimsuit trend to heart and applied it to her personal life. Don't get me wrong, there are certainly merits to bikinis, and plenty of stars have rocked them in tremendous fashion. Still, I'd argue that the one-piece has become something of a novelty amongst celebrities, so Nader is certainly setting herself apart from the pack (as per usual).

Not only is Nader wearing more one-pieces in her everyday life, but she’s also been utilizing swimsuits for her runaway appearances. Just recently, while walking in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show, she sported a red one-piece -- on theme with Baywatch -- as well as a black suit with a thong back.

That’s not to say that bikinis are officially out of Nader’s life. While she may not be wearing them to the beach as much anymore or even on the runway, I wouldn't be surprised if some of her further photoshoots include them. Plus, maybe there's a chance that Nader's slow motion-running Baywatch character might even sport a two-piece ensemble in certain episodes.

Apart from her swimsuit choices, the former Dancing with the Stars contestant has apparently been working hard on the Baywatch revival. She’s been taking pointers from OG stars Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra, and she previously responded to the backlash she’d been receiving over her new role. Since the Baywatch reboot cast is filled with veteran actors, reality stars and influencers, I'd say she's a perfect fit, and it's clear that doesn’t care what people think.

The Baywatch show is set to debut on Fox sometime in 2027, and the show is being touted as a fresh take on this pop culture staple of a franchise. If anything, fans who are on the fence about the show should know that iconic red swimsuits will be on tap and that multiple OG stars returning. I'm looking forward to seeing Brooks Nader put her stamp on the franchise and, if this new show is a success, I wouldn't be surprised if she became more synonymous with a one-piece suit than a bikini.

It was previously announced that David Chokachi will return as Cody Madison. However, he won’t be the only one returning to the beach, and I love the sweet photos another OG star posted while filming.

Kelly Packard, who starred in Seasons 8 and 9 of Baywatch, will officially be returning as April Giminski. She recently took to her Instagram to share photos straight from Venice Beach, where the revival is filming, and she made sure to include a photo of her with fellow OGs Chokachi and Michael Bergin, who is reprising his role as Jack “J.D.” Darius. She also left a sweet message for fans about how excited she is:

I seriously can't get over this post. The video of her seemingly walking to set with her Baywatch jacket and the images of her and her old castmates on the beach together made me so incredibly happy.

It’s been almost three decades since Packard was on Baywatch, so it’s great to see her back as April, and with some other OGs as well. I can’t imagine how it must feel to be back on Baywatch after so many years, and it’s clear that even doing only two seasons of the original, the show meant a lot to her.

Plus, her return kind of makes sense. The revival centers on Captain Hobie Buchannon (Stephen Amell), the son of David Hasselhoff’s Mitch Buchannon. Both JD and April were in Hobie’s rookie class, per Deadline, and the three have been close for years, so seeing them as lifeguards together will be a fun treat. In addition to Packard, Chokachi, and Bergin, Erika Eleniak, who starred in the first three seasons of Baywatch as Shauni McClain, will also be returning.

Meanwhile, the first footage from the Baywatch revival has been released, and Amell had an A+ reaction. The teaser included lots of surf, sun, lifeguards, and red swimsuits, as well as running along the beach, and it was definitely reminiscent of its predecessor. With some OGs appearing in the new series, there will certainly be a lot to look forward to, and Packard’s post definitely makes me even more excited for what’s in store.

His next big small-screen chapter comes early next year, and it has sand, rescue cans and the sacred Baywatch requirement: slow motion. Naturally, Amell seems fully aware of the assignment, because he had an A+ reaction to the very first footage from Baywatch.

There have been some photos leaking from set, but we now have our first teaser footage from Fox’s upcoming Baywatch reboot, and Amell shared the clip on his Instagram account with a caption that immediately made sense of the whole beachy opera. The video, which you can see below, shows quick flashes of plenty of surf, lifeguards, red swimsuits and his character sprinting across the sand like the ocean personally insulted him:

Honestly, it is about the best you could ask for from a fresh take on Baywatch. The footage knows exactly what people want from this franchise, and Amell’s caption is perfect for so many reasons. He wrote:

That is the only correct response to the footage, and for starring in the show, for that matter. You don’t just run on that show. You enter a red-swimsuit pocket dimension where every emergency unfolds at 40% speed, and everyone looks like they were carved out of sunscreen, gym memberships and dramatic saxophone. Naturally, slow-motion stretches as far as the eye can see.

The footage itself is brief, but those who cut this teaser know exactly what people expect from this franchise. It is not the least bit subtle, but subtlety has never really been the brand here. This is a show built on beach rescues and beautiful people sprinting toward danger while the camera captures them in a stunning Sports Illustrated level of composition.

The Arrow star’s role is a fun one, too, as he is playing Hobie Buchannon, the grown son of Mitch Buchannon, the lifeguard captain famously played by David Hasselhoff in the original series. To that point, Amell isn't opposed to Hasselhoff or other OGs making cameos. The new show sees Hobie now serving as a Baywatch captain, whose life gets complicated when Charlie, a daughter he never knew, arrives and wants to join the family rescue legacy.

That setup gives the reboot a smart way to tie itself to the old show without simply doing a greatest-hits cover band version of it. Hobie was part of the original Baywatch fabric, so aging him into a leadership role keeps the legacy connection intact while giving the new cast room to make their own sunburned messes.

Amell is joined in the reboot by fellow cast members Shay Mitchell, Brooks Nader (who has been taking nods from OG stars Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra), Livvy Dunne, Noah Beck, Jessica Belkin and Thaddeus LaGrone. The production has already leaned into the classic red lifeguard look, with cast photos and footage showing the team in the kind of beachwear that might as well have its own Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

That kind of return makes sense for a reboot like this. Baywatch is such a specific, instantly recognizable piece of pop culture. Sure, it can be a little ridiculous, but it’s also weirdly durable and completely tied to its visual language. You need the red suits. You need the rescues. You need somebody running like time has politely stepped aside. And bringing back members of the OG cast adds some nice legacy gravitas while Stephen Amell steps into those swim shorts, shirtless and more than ready for duty.

It’s been fun seeing photos and hearing the cast talk about this new iteration of the beloved series, which centers on a group of lifeguards whose mission is to protect Southern California’s shoreline. Not surprisingly, Thaddeus LaGrone, who portrays Brad, told TV Insider that there will be some action for these lifeguards, but I was surprised to hear the action he compared it to:

Considering they are lifeguards, you would expect the show to have at least some action, depending on the situation a swimmer or beach-goer is in, but the Avengers is a pretty strong comparison. And the fact that LaGrone says that as a Marvel buff, has me even more curious about what’s in store. He also revealed some upgrades the reboot is getting that the original didn’t have, and doubled down on the action:

Who knew that a show like Baywatch could have Avengers-level action? Fans can probably expect not to see any super villains or superheroes on the show, and I'm sure these lifeguards will not have superhuman abilities. However, there may be some pretty intense sequences in the water or even on the beach. How is still unclear, but it sounds like Baywatch will be the action-packed show to watch.

While there may be a lot of action on-screen as the cast continues to get their beach bearings, it’s the complete opposite off-screen. The cast is already getting comfortable with each other, as Stephen Amell and Hassie Harrison had a playful interaction on an Instagram post when Amell made a beach-related comment about filming. There is no Avengers-level action when they aren’t filming, but it seems like fans can look forward to quite a lot when the show premieres.

Fans have several months to theorize just what kind of action will take place in the new Baywatch, and even though it won’t be exactly like the Avengers, it still sounds pretty intriguing. A premiere date for the reboot probably won’t come until later this year, but between these comments and the leaked set photos, I’m already getting pumped for it. While Nader knows she’s not necessarily an actor, we should have seen her casting coming after she rocked a red swimsuit for a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue a few years ago. It should be interesting to see her as part of the Baywatch cast as she plays a sassy lifeguard, taking after Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra, both of whom were on the original series. While at the Fox Upfronts, Nader told Extra about her character, Selene, and how her sisters were not surprised at the kind of character she was playing:

Nader has previously said that she’s just like Selene, so it hilariously makes sense that her sisters would take the opportunity to both troll her and be proud of her. The trolling just continues, too, because Nader was asked how proud they are of her, and she just threw them under the bus, lovingly, of course:

Are they really your siblings if you can’t joke with them while also being loving? It’s sweet to see how close Nader is with her sisters, and the fact that they can poke fun at such a big role that she’s doing. They may be jealous now, but perhaps later down the line, they can all appear on the show? Whether as lifeguards or beachgoers in need, it would be fun to see Selene saving women who look just like her and are also sassy and fierce.

Meanwhile, Fox has confirmed that the Baywatch reboot won’t be premiering until midseason 2027, so fans have to wait a little bit longer to see Nader and the rest of the cast donning their red swimsuits and slow-motion running. There have been some photos leaking from set showing off the cast in their red swimsuits, and it can be assumed that as filming continues, we'll get to see more of the production. Since a premiere date hasn’t been announced, that will have to keep fans occupied for the time being.

Get ready for the winter to feel like the summer, as Fox has revealed that the upcoming Baywatch reboot is set to arrive just after the 2026 TV schedule goes extinct, with a January 2027 premiere. So fans can no doubt expect to see a lot of swimsuit-filled promos of the all-star cast for at least the rest of this year, with Yellowstone vet Hassie Harrison all up in that mix. Is there a chance we could see her reuniting with one of her former co-stars?

It’s technically a possibility, in the same way that one of Stephen Amell’s former Arrow co-stars could feasibly show up in Baywatch. Which is to say, nothing’s been revealed in that sense, but stranger things have happened. Until something gets announced, though, we can take some amused comfort in Harrison’s pick for which Yellowstone actor she’d want to pop up on one SoCal shore or another: Ryan Bingham.

Anyone who guessed correctly gets a gold star, as Bingham not only portrayed Harrison’s on-screen love interest in Taylor Sheridan’s universe — Walker + Laramie 4EVR — but he also happens to be her husband in real life. (The two, who met on the neo-western, tied the knot in October 2023.) Speaking with US Weekly, the actress expressed a specific desire for her hubby to appear, saying:

Ryan Bingham is technically more of a musician than an actor, and has released more albums and EPs than he has amassed on-screen roles. While he hasn't taken on any other TV roles since Yellowstone concluded, Bingham and Harrison (and Michael Shannon) co-starred in Jeff Nichols' short film Love Letter to Texas, which debuted at this year's SXSW.

So he's not entirely out of the acting game. And even if it's not the most likely scenario that TV viewers will see a bleached-blonde Ryan Bingham faux-drowning the Pacific Ocean during Baywatch's first season, maybe we can make it happen by sending scores of emails and letters to Fox and showrunner Matt Nix. Or maybe Harrison convincing Bingham is the key element here.

While we still haven't seen any official stills or video of Hassie Harrison's Nat, she did appear with several of her good-lookin' co-stars on stage for Fox's Upfronts, as seen below.

It's probably no surprise that Brooks Nader is decked out in red, making it seem like she's already wearing the iconic swimsuit. Interesting that Harrison is in all black, though.

Beyond Baywatch, Fox is holding off until the new year to debut quite a few new and returning scripted shows. Drama audiences will also be waiting to see Memory of a Killer, and Murder in a Small Town’s new seasons, as well as the debut of Stephen Fry and Jenna Elfman’s The Interrogator. Much of the network’s animated favorites are also being held, such as American Dad, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy and Krapopolis. (Seth MacFarlane’s Stewie will debut later in 2027.)

Baywatch is set to start airing on Fox as a midseason premiere in January, with new episodes streaming the next day via Hulu subscription. So you’ve got seven months to make sure you can fit back in that red swimsuit….themed bathrobe while you watch.

In January she shared another photo wearing that iconic red swimwear, and she’s definitely embraced the red in her wardrobe enough over the years for us to come to the conclusion that she obviously figured out how to stop the passage of time.

If we do see Lani McKenzie hit the beach again, one thing might be different — Carmen Electra said she has no interest in diving into that cold, cold water to save lives. She’d rather come back in more of a supervisory role and leave the freezing-your-butt-off to one of the younger stars, like Livvy Dunne or Brooks Nader.

Speaking of Brooks Nader, the Dancing with the Stars alum said she took inspiration from Carmen Electra in perfecting that slo-mo run. She — like the rest of us — probably didn’t even realize the editing that had to be done on Electra’s running. No wonder the Scary Movie actress is looking for a promotion to captain!

Carmen Electra’s status on the reboot may be unknown, but we have gotten confirmation of at least one OG’s return. David Chokachi is coming back as Cody Madison, and he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to reprise the character he played from Seasons 6 to 9.

Stephen Amell is starring as Hobie Buchannon — that’s right, Buchannon, as in the son of Mitch (David Hasselhoff) from the ‘90s TV series. When asked whether we might see a cameo from his TV dad, or even Pamela Anderson, Donna D’Errico (who still fits in her old red swimsuit!) or any of the other original cast members, Amell said he has specifically asked not to be told any spoilers.

Fair enough. I don’t mind taking that watch for myself when the new series premieres. As for when exactly that will be, we haven’t yet gotten official word from Fox, but given the photos cast members have been sharing from set, it sure looks like they’re having fun working on that 12-episode straight-to-series order. Considering Harrison and Amell’s characters are close, it would only make sense for the actors to build on that chemistry. And what better way to build a bond than by bantering? The water may be cold, but it looks like things are just heating up on the set of Baywatch. At least the cold is going to be worth it, and it just shows how committed the cast is.

Since production only started a month ago, this series will likely be filming for quite some time, meaning that if the cast isn’t used to the water by now, they are going to have to figure out how to be. There has to be a point where they don’t even feel the cold whenever they’re in the water, but it seems like that has not happened yet...at least for Amell and Harrison.

Luckily, She’s also been doing a lot to prep for Baywatch, and has pointed out that her character, Selene, is similar to her when it comes to personality. Perhaps the same can be said for the outfits as well.

A lot of photos have been leaked from the set of everyone running and jumping on the sand and in the water, while wearing the red swimsuits. Brooks Nader may not be trained as a lifeguard — or an actor, for that matter — but she said was prepared to take on this role, just like she took on Dancing with the Stars despite not being a dancer.

The post showed pictures of her trailer with her character’s name, Selene, on a sign on the door, her chair at Baywatch Lifeguard Headquarters and, as promised, Brooks Nader showing off those mouth-to-mouth resuscitation skills. Arrow star Stephen Amell leads the cast as Hobie Buchannon (the character played by Jeremy Jackson in the OG show). Hobie, of course, is the son of Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff in the original). He co-captains the lifeguard crew now, and we have to admit, Amell looks pretty darn ripped in red trunks in this video posted on the Baywatch IG account.

Brooks Nader As Selene

Model and reality star Brooks Nader will star as Selene, who is described as another captain of the lifeguard team on Zuma Beach. Nader is probably best known for her time on Dancing With the Stars and her reality show Love Thy Nader with her sisters, which you can check out with a Hulu subscription. A few years ago, in a moment of foreshadowing, Nader appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition in a red suit, and she's also posted from behind the scenes of the new show.

Livvy Dunne As Grace

Livvy Dunne, a former collegiate gymnast, current SI swimsuit model and fitness influencer, will be making her acting debut as Grace, a junior lifeguard learning the ropes. She's posted a few photos on her IG from behind the scenes, including one of her running (presumably in slow motion, of course) on the beach.

David Chokachi As Cody Madison

One returning cast member who has been announced is David Chokachi, who will be reprising his role as Cody Madison from the final few seasons of the original Baywatch. We have to say, for a guy who is nearly 60 years old, Chokachi is making us all jealous and inspiring everyone, at every age, to hit the gym!

Hassie Harrison As Nat

Speaking of Yellowstone, Hassie Harrison, who played barrel racer and eventually, Walker's girlfriend, Laramie, on the show, will be one lifeguards on Zuma Beach, Nat. We haven't seen a great photo of Harrison in a famous red suit yet, but we did find this this photo of her on the beach with her husband, singer/songwriter Ryan Bingham, from a few years ago.

Thaddeus LaGrone As Brad

Another newcomer in the cast of the Baywatch sequel series is Thaddeus LaGrone. The model, musician and former football player is just getting started in Hollywood, and Baywatch is his most high-profile role to date. According to Variety, Brad is a former marine who has returned home and joined the lifeguard team. He certainly looks the part!

Jessica Belkin As Charlie Bale

You might recognize Jessica Belkin, who is playing a lifeguard named Charlie, from Hunting Wives, one of the steamiest shows on Netflix in a while. She's also a supporting character in the upcoming Dutton Ranch, the latest spinoff of Yellowstone, available with a Paramount+ subscription. We don't have a lot of info on Charlie, but, as she said on Instagram, Belkin is "ready for her Baywatch era! So are we!

Shay Mitchell As Trina

Ontario, Canada native Shay Mitchell is a long way from the Great White North (shout out to Doug and Bob McKenzie) on the beaches of Southern California, but she still looks fantastic in her red suit in the behind-the-scenes photo she posted. Like a lot of the cast members, we don't know a ton about her character, Trina, but as she's proving in her social media post that she's working hard to make sure she's "slow mo" ready when shooting.

Noah Beck As Luke

Noah Beck is proving in this photo that the beach can still be a place to relax. He may not be on the clock or in red, but the former soccer player is still looking the part. Beck is another of the long list of influencers who make up a lot of the cast, something that has occasionally drawn criticism from some fans of the original show.

So that leaves one more big question: will we see any of the illustrious alumni from the original Baywatch? We frankly don't know if some of the legendary cast members will be a part of this new production. We're talking about names like David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Kelly Slater, Carmen Elektra (who has said she would love to, so long as she doesn't have to shoot in the water), Yasmine Bleeth and, of course, Jason Momoa, who got his start on the spinoff/legacy series Baywatch: Hawaii.

Those are hardly the only actors who appeared on the wildly popular syndicated show, so the sky's the limit... or the shoreline is the limit? Who knows? We'll just have to wait until this fall when the new show airs.

It’s hard to believe we’re in the era where millennials are consistently hitting 40. Just a few years ago, I was flabbergasted when the cast of Harry Potter started having children. Now, Alexandra Daddario’s hit the milestone celebrity birthday, and the first thought I had was, “I just saw her in Baywatch.” Unfortunately, my own sense of time is wildly off-base, because that was actually nearly a decade ago.

If you follow Alexandra Daddario, she’s obviously into some real-life Maycraft witchery, because I truly don’t think she’s aged a day since landing Baywatch, and this is even despite welcoming a baby with her (now ex-partner) Andrew Form. Approaching a new decade in life looks good on her, as evidenced by several of her recent posts before her March celebration.

I’m not just being nice because I love her work; her fanbase agrees. Along with the many, many people who were shocked the actress is 40 (“Get out of here! 40?!!”), many of them amusingly cited evidence she has those Percy Jackson Greek goddess genes. So, that’s the key to immortality. Comments on Instagram and Reddit tied back to her breakthrough role as Annabeth Chase, AKA Athena's daughter, in the franchise.

Other fans joked she had played a literal “vampire” in a season of American Horror Story, which may have helped. Another faction of fans also said she looked “31 max,” which was the exact age the actress was when Baywatch came out in 2017. So, I feel a little bit vindicated that I was unclear about how quickly time was passing.

Anyway, celebrities in general have the time and the means to keep up with personal care in ways many of us average folk do not. Forty also means something very different than it did decades ago, as other famous names can attest to. When Kim Kardashian turned 40, she rocked out with a bikini post. Anna Kendrick also turned 40 just last year, and celebrated with a sparkly mini dress. (Yes, I was equally shocked when she hit 40.) In comparison, my mom turned 40 and wore a pantsuit and got “over the hill” cards. Times have changed, and as it passes, the leading ladies in Hollywood are growing more and more timeless.

I hope everyone’s been practicing their slow-motion running, because the Baywatch reboot is coming together nicely for what will hopefully be a premiere on the 2026 TV schedule this fall. The casting process has been interesting to watch, from the open casting calls to the hiring of influencers to don the iconic red swimsuits. Now, Brooks Nader is responding to the backlash that she’s “not necessarily an actor.”

The new Baywatch series will essentially be Brooks Nader’s first acting gig, and her lack of experience has led some haters to speak out against the casting decision online. The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model didn’t seem too bothered by it, though, as she told The Daily Mail:

The original Baywatch series that aired from 1989-2001 helped launch the careers of numerous stars, most notably Pamela Anderson, Nicole Eggert, Carmen Elektra, and Jason Momoa. Now, it’s time for a new generation to don the red suits, with the Fox reboot officially in production. The new series will hopefully premiere on the back half of the 2026 TV schedule, but in the meantime fans are being fed with behind the scenes pics, and the newest Baywatch star’s set photos are everything I hoped for.

While showrunner Matt Nix hosted an open casting call that brought thousands of hopefuls to the shores of Southern California, the Burn Notice creator has also recruited a number of social media stars to his cast. Most recently, it was announced by Deadline that influencer Livvy Dunne had signed on in a recurring role as a lifeguard named Grace, and the former LSU gymnast took to Instagram to share she’s got what it takes to make saves on the waves and look good doing it:

There was little doubt in my mind that the 2025 Sports Illustrated cover model would stun in the iconic red suit, but she really fits the role. While this will be Dunne’s first acting credit, she’s no stranger to being in front of the camera. The American Eagle ambassador has amassed 5.3 million followers on Instagram and nearly 8 million on TikTok.

Dunne’s not the only one. Dancing With The Stars alum Brooks Nader (1.8M on Instagram) and Noah Beck (33M on TikTok) have signed onto Baywatch as series regulars, with limited acting credits.

Arrow star Stephen Amell will lead the newest set of lifeguards as team captain Hobie Buchannan, son of David Hasselhoff’s Mitch Buchannan. Also connecting the ‘90s Baywatch to the 2026 reboot is David Chokachi, who will be reprising his original role as Cody Madison.

In addition to Dunne’s casting announcement, Variety revealed You’s Shay Mitchell has also joined the new Baywatch crew. So, while there are a few TV drama vets on the docket, it really seems like this reboot is relying on the pre-existing internet fame of their amateur actors. I’m not sure how this will play with audiences, and can already anticipate the videos that will be posted poking fun at this new Baywatch.

Of course, that’s already a side effect that these social media stars are used to. It comes with the territory of constantly putting content out, so I doubt they will be phased by any commentary on their casting or performances. So far though, Dunne’s Instagram comments are flooded with immense support from her famous athlete and influencer friends:

Admittedly, part of the draw for the OG Baywatch and its renewed success on streaming is its attractive cast of tan, athletic men and women running around the beach in flattering red swimsuits. I will say, this entire new cast fit the bill.

Another part was the campiness of the storylines that were at some points a bit cringe, but that was part of the charm! The original show took itself seriously, and McG, who is directing the 2026 pilot, says that this Baywatch revival will do the same. I am interested to see how this cast and crew will update the iconic franchise for the modern age, and I am excited to see which familiar faces might wash up on shore.

A new Baywatch series is on the way, with Burn Notice creator Matt Nix serving as its showrunner. Franchise OG David Chokachi is returning, though there are a lot of franchise newcomers donning the iconic red swimsuits this time around. On that note, the show has recently earned attention due to its open casting process. Now, one of the reboot’s writers, Bradley Marques, is acknowledging the fact that many viewed the method as “a stunt,” and he even provided a photo to show that those assumptions were unfounded.

Many of the original cast of Baywatch were relatively unknown actors before joining the original hit show, like Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra and Jason Momoa. The reboot, for which an open casting call was launched this past February and has already concluded, will also feature some unknowns. To that point, Bradley Marques posted a photo to Instagram, which showed him alongside a “talented actress” joining the series:

As noted in the post, the star in question is Hanna Balicki and, according to Actors Access, she’s done commercials, music videos, guest-starring roles in TV shows, and some independent films. Needless to say, this could be a major gig for Balicki (whose exact role remains unknown) and, if that photo is anything to go by, she seems happy to be involved.

The new Baywatch show's open casting call drew a lot of attention and saw countless hopefuls show up to shoot their shot for a role. Said actors also did so while sporting their best swim gear. Many theorized that the producers utilized that method simply to drum up publicity for the show and create conversations instead of giving true consideration to relative newcomers. However, Marques argued that wasn't the case. As he explained in the caption of his post:

Sure, the upcoming Fox series may have well-known actors including Arrow alum Stephen Amell, who's playing the new Baywatch captain. However, it also seems the open casting call was used as a legitimate way for the creative team to find fresh talent to play notable roles.

In fact, Variety reported that 2,000 actors, models, and “wannabes” of all ages and body masses were present at the Marina del Rey Marriott to see if they had what it took to run across the beach for those iconic slow-motion shots.

Apparently, 14,000 people submitted reels and headshots, and 2,000 were invited to audition. The attendees all had unique traits, like a mother-daughter duo with zero acting experience or an influencer who had never even heard of the OG series. With the producers searching for series regulars, lifeguards, barflies and extras, even Amell said, “This whole thing is not normal.” (Now, I’d love to see a documentary about what the casting process was like.)

Other than Hanna Balicki, we also know Sports Illustrated model Brooks Nader will be donning the red swimsuit as Captain of the rival Zuma Beach lifeguards. (Now, that’s great casting right there). While the Dancing with the Stars contestant admits she’s not “necessarily an actor,” she says that’s not stopping her from trying new things. To be completely fair, the open casting call did arguably bring a sizable amount of attention to this latest chapter in the Baywatch saga. Still, based on Bradley Marques' take, the producers were sincerely seeking talent within this proverbial pool. Let's just hope Balicki and the chosen stars will be up for all the action that takes place in and around the ocean. The upcoming Baywatch reboot is literally coming in hot, possibly on the 2026 TV schedule. Despite doing an open call, the cast for the new series is filled with actors, influencers, and even models. Among the cast of lifeguards is Sports Illustrated model Brooks Nader. While she’s proved she can branch out into other things after taking on Dancing With the Stars, she is not really an actor, and she knows it. So, how is she prepping for Baywatch?

While we should have seen her Baywatch casting coming after she rocked a red swimsuit, the announcement still came as a big surprise. With your first acting role being on a reboot of a series as iconic as Baywatch, that can be a little bit intimidating. However, Nader is looking forward to the challenge, telling Entertainment Tonight she is as ready as ever:

Nader definitely had some eyes on her on Dancing With the Stars, partly because of her hot showmance with partner Gleb Savchenko, but it proved that she was up for any kind of challenge. Of course, acting is pretty different from dancing, especially since with DWTS, you are expected to start at the bottom with your knowledge of the art. That being said, Nader probably wouldn’t have been cast on Baywatch if producers didn’t think she was able to at least bring something to the role of Selene.

What helps is the fact that her character is similar to her. Nader reveled that Selene, who is a captain like Stephen Amell’s Hobie, is basically her, very sassy and is a “total boss.” So being able to put some of herself into the character probably makes it a little easier. Not to mention the fact that there are some seasoned veterans on the cast, including OG Baywatch star David Chokachi, who is reprising his role as Cody Madison.

Even though I was definitely surprised about Nader’s casting, I am curious to see what she brings to the table. She seems to be up for anything and is serious about doing a good job, which is really all that anyone can ask for. Plus, if she can make it on Dancing With the Stars, doing the Baywatch reboot shouldn’t be too bad. If anything, fans know how she looks in a red swimsuit, and I can almost guarantee she has that slo-mo running down.

The Baywatch reboot has seemingly kicked off filming, per Amell’s Instagram post, so the time has come for Nader to prove she has what it takes. It will be interesting to see how the reboot compares to the original. Of course, nothing will ever come close to the original Baywatch, and the 2017 movie that bombed proved it, but perhaps the new series will bring in a whole new generation.

We’ve had some time to adjust to the idea that we live in a world where Baywatch will soon be a reality on our TV screens again. The show’s already confirmed it’s putting together an eclectic mix of OG cast members, heavy suit wearers like Stephen Amell and some Sports Illustrated cover girls with limited acting experience. The show’s still casting, however, and I found it exceedingly interesting Emily Ratajkowski rocked a red swimsuit this weekend.

Ratajkowski is no stranger to a good swim weather post, and March tends to be the month she starts revving up for bikini season. She once even wore swimwear in a movie theater, so I suppose it was only time before she tried out a red one-piece. Now she’s made the attempt, though, I think she honestly would be a great hit for the reboot.

Of course, this is absolutely not an official casting announcement, or the “Blurred Lines” music video star would doubtless have mentioned it in her post, just like fellow swimsuit model Brooks Nader did in her own confirmation. Instead, Emily Ratajkowski looks to simply be enjoying a pool day in a color that suits her quite well.

The timing may or may not be coincidental. She’s certainly not the first social media star to rock the red in recent weeks, to be clear. One social media star, Kira Pregiato, said her “DMs were genuinely out of control” after she posted a photo in a red one-piece swimsuit, and that was all definitely related to Baywatch fans. Original series star Carmen Electra has also sported a red suit and expressed interest in coming back for the new iteration, as well.

The full cast is not confirmed yet, and the Fox series even held an open casting call a few weeks ago, so in general I think there are a lot of red suits being sported around Hollywood right now. Still, Rajakowski is a social media personality with some acting experience, and a few months back even announced an Apple TV+ project in the works with Lena Dunham and A24.

She certainly has more acting experience than some of the people being cast, with a recent role in Too Much (also a Lena Dunham production), and gigs in high-profile projects like Gone Girl, Entourage, I Feel Pretty and even iCarly on her résumé so far.

We should be hearing more about Baywatch as the 2026 TV release schedule progresses, and Emily Ratajkowski could be a good fit if the rebooted show were to look her way for a bigger role or even a guest stint. I have no idea if that was remotely her intent, but she certainly had my attention this weekend.

When the newest attempt to revive Baywatch was announced, I assumed that the producers would try to lure former cast members in for cameos or more, but any attempts I made to predict future cast members seemed pointless. I definitely wouldn’t have guessed Stephen Amell to be the ab-sporting lead, nor that he’d share the screen with Yellowstone vet Hassie Harrison or social media star Noah Beck. But maybe I should have seen Brooks Nader’s casting coming.

Nader, who grew up a little over an hour away from yours truly in Baton Rouge, LA, was recently revealed as being the newest Hollywood starlet destined to sport the iconic red swimsuit for Fox’s Baywatch revival. (Here’s hoping there are more suits than the original series was afforded.) As it turns out, the model and Dancing with the Stars vet kinda-sorta manifested her own destiny with this role, having already donned the red swimsuit for a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue years prior.

That very post promoting the issue with the red-suited Nader on the cover (as seen below), is currently pinned to the top of her Instagram profile.

Following the casting announcement, Nader shared multiple stories about it on Instagram, with one showcasing on a more inspirational and aspirational message about not giving up and reaching one's dreams.

The original post she shared there also features pics from her childhood, as well as from the Sports Illustrated photo shoot, all playing into the notion that she's been aimed at reaching this kind of career milestone for the bulk of her life. Not that she hasn't been an instantly recognizable face for years now, from her modeling career to her stint on Dancing with the Stars (and the revealing aftermath) to her Hulu reality show Love Thy Nader.

Of course, being on a globally renowned show like Baywatch is a high mark for anyone to achieve, so here's hoping fans love her character.

Who Is Brooks Nader Playing In Baywatch?

Speaking of, Brooks Nader's series regular role will be that of the feisty captain of the Suma lifeguards, named Selene. According to a character description, she's very skilled at her job, but that doesn't mean things are all perfect between her and Stephen Amell's Hobie Buchannon. In fact, they're constantly at odds, and that strain is only deepened once Hobie hires his daughter Charlie to the team. As one might imagine, their history involves more than just beach duties.

It sounds like this will truly be a dream job for Nader, and that's the kind of actors you hope to see taking roles like this, as opposed to someone who'll just phone it in on a day to day basis. Hard to do that on this show, since the phone would get soaked with saltwater.

Will we get to see OnlyFans star Kira Pregiato making the cut, which many fans would no doubt love? Will we get any nods (or cameos) involving Pamela Anderson and/or her character C.J.? How iconic will the new opening title sequence be?

These questions and more will be answered when Baywatch makes its way to Fox somewhere around the back end of the 2026 TV schedule.

When Baywatch originally became a phenomenon in the 1990s, the series sought out actresses who were young, talented, attractive... and who could fill out a swimsuit. There’s no reason to think the Fox reboot would go in a different direction, and now one OnlyFans star says she’s been “bombarded” with fan requests to try out for the new series.

Along with some cast OGs coming back and former Green Arrow star Stephen Amell ready to go shirtless again, Fox put out a casting call a few weeks ago that was held at the Marriott Marina Del Rey. Ahead of the February 18th event, Fox noted they were hopeful people would show up looking “Baywatch ready,” which means they confirmed means being able to rock clothes in a beachy setting.

Enter Kira Pregiato, a rising social media star who has already 100% proven she can rock the infamous Baywatch red piece. She’s not the only person with a slew of followers to make the move in recent weeks, following in the footsteps of former Baywatch star and popular social media personality Carmen Electra.

A recent report indicated at least 2,000 people have already tried out for the series, but if the show is still looking for candidates, a lot of fans already think they have one. In fact, OF star Kira Pregiato told CinemaBlend in a statement that in recent weeks her DMs from fans have been “out of control,” and most of these people have expressed genuine interest in her trying out for Baywatch.

So, did she attend the open cast call? In a statement, Ms. Pregiato says she did not, but that she’d be open if an opportunity arose.

Meanwhile, members of her more than 786 thousand followers are fighting the good fight for her, and whether or not this possibility comes to pass, we can definitely confirm there will be some fabulous people donning the red suits when Fox airs Baywatch on the 2026-2027 TV schedule.

It's been said that back in the '90s, one of the most popular television shows on the planet was Baywatch. That’s not too hard to believe considering that showcasing pretty people in swimsuits is the sort of thing that can transcend cultural and language barriers. It’s also the sort of thing that is eventually going to lead to a potential reboot.

A Baywatch reboot is on the way from Burn Notice creator Matt Nix and McG, who is set to direct the pilot episode of the new show. We can expect lots of pretty people in bathing suits. However, one thing that fans should not expect when the new series debuts is jokes at the expense of the original series. McG tells Variety:

Honestly, I love this. I’m not a big fan of Baywatch or anything, but I’m generally not a fan of reboots or remakes that seem like they’re laughing at, rather than laughing with, previous entries in the franchise. Was Baywatch corny? Sure, it was, but the show always took itself seriously, and it was incredibly successful as exactly what it was.

Matt Nix tells Variety that the new version of Baywatch won’t be campy either. Stephen Amell is set to play Captain Hobie, the now-adult son of David Hassellhoff’s character from the original series. Plus, actor David Chokachi, who played Cody Madison for three seasons on the original show, will be returning. Suffice it to say that the series is being written as a continuation of the original rather than a full reboot, so it makes sense that the tone would remain the same.

This also opens the door to plenty of Baywatch cameos from the original cast. While nothing has been announced, Amell is very open to that happening. It would be somewhat strange to have a show that pokes fun at the original series if it also trades on the star power of that cast.

This will, of course, be in direct contrast to the last time we saw something new from Baywatch. The movie adaptation that starred Dwayne Johnson and Zach Efron was a comedy first, and it absolutely did make jokes at the expense of the series. The movie did pretty well in theaters, but was absolutely destroyed by critics. The people who made the movie largely didn’t have a great time. Efron has called his body "stupid" and regretted the way he prepared for the movie. Alexandra Daddario has been critical of her experience, and even The Rock has made fun of it.

Not making fun doesn’t mean that the new Baywatch won’t have fun. Matt Nix’s most successful TV series to date was Burn Notice, a spy series that had plenty of action and intrigue, but wasn’t afraid to also have a sense of humor. Baywatch could certainly end up being something similar in tone.

Though it seemed rather unlikely that anyone would take another shot at bringing us back to the beach Baywatch-style after the 2017 movie with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron that failed to inspire positive reviews or set the box office on fire, it does tend to be difficult to keep a beloved IP down. Rumblings of yet another take on the property began in early 2024, and those behind the revival are now working on its 12-episode first season, which will air on Fox.

One of the people who’s hard at work to deliver more scarlet-swim-gear action is Stephen Amell, and Us Weekly recently asked him the question every longtime Baywatch fan wants to know: could we see original series stars Pamela Anderson and/or David Hasselhoff appear in the upcoming show? He said:

Alright, Mr. Amell. We get it; you have to keep things like major cameos a big fat secret from the rest of us. But...wait. As his response continued, he actually revealed a cameo-related request he had of the producers, which totally makes a lot of sense for a couple of reasons. Amell continued:

Well, well, well! Honestly? I love this for him. For one thing, as he said, he needs to be dialed into what he’s doing at any given moment, and to do that he feels it’s best to have as few distractions as possible. Knowing way ahead of time that he could be working with either Anderson or Hasselfhoff (Amell is portraying his character’s son) could easily be an unnecessary intrusion, so he’d rather just not know until it’s a done deal and they’re preparing to shoot that episode.

Not being aware of any possible cameos from OG talent also serves the purpose of keeping him blissfully unaware so that he has a much longer time to literally have no big secrets to keep as he does interviews. Sure, he had to keep lots of plot points to himself during his eight seasons on the surprise-filled Arrow, but why tax your secret-keeping abilities if you don’t have to?

We already know that original star Carmen Electra is game to revisit the show, while David Chokachi (who played Cody Madison from Seasons 6-9) is the first Baywatch star to be signed to the revival. So, it’s entirely possible that we do see other actors from the first series show up. Just know that we won’t hear it from Stephen Amell.

Following the cancellation of Suits LA, Stephen Amell is setting his sights on another high-profile project, and this one will take him out of the office and into the sand. The Arrow star was recently cast in the highly-anticipated Baywatch reboot as Captain Hobie Buchannan, the son of David Hasselhoff’s Mitch Buchannan. He’s already starting to prep for the show, and that means getting ready to run on the beach shirtless. Despite Amell being know for his physique, I really appreciate his candid take on what's coming next.

Of course, Amell is known for his rigorous training, having spent eight seasons as Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow on The CW. Having also appeared on American Ninja Warrior and done plenty of shirtless scenes for Heels, he's used to being fit. Baywatch will be different, though.

Amell got real about the kind of prep he’ll be going through while speaking with THR, but despite trying for "sustainability" as he hits his mid-forties, it still might not be enough to compete with his co-stars:

It’s definitely tough to be in that kind of position, knowing that you are giving 110%, and someone half your age is able just to go do the same thing with no problem.

Now, Amell is 44, and he looks fantastic. I mean, he probably wouldn't have been cast in Batwatch if producers didn’t think he could look the part. Unfortunately, he also has to look the part while standing next to 20-somethings who can probably chow down on cheeseburgers than don swim trunks with no real concern. But that’s the price of aging, as he said:

It may not seem like much, but it really takes a lot to admit that you aren’t where you used to be physically as you continue to get older. However, Amell can, and he sounds just grateful to be able to throw down with the youngsters decades after becoming famous in Hollywood. If anything, he has proven time and time again that he has the mentality and physicality to really pull off any kind of training -- remember those salmon ladders?! --he’s just a little older now.

At the very least, Amell won’t be the oldest lifeguard on that beach. It was recently announced that OG Baywatch cast member David Chokachi will be returning as Cody Madison, who now runs the bar-and-grill The Shoreline, while still occasionally putting on the red trunks to save lives and serving as a mentor to the younger lifeguards. So it should be fun to see how those two do with the other lifeguards.

As of now, additional casting for Fox’s Baywatch reboot has not been shared, so it’s unknown what other actors will be joining Amell and Chokachi and giving them a slow-mo run for their money. But it will be interesting to see who else will be donning the iconic red swimsuit and what kind of prep they’ll be doing.

It’s almost time to run in slow-motion on the beach with a red swimsuit once again, as the Baywatch reboot is slowly but surely getting off the ground. The new series, coming to Fox, recently cast Arrow star Stephen Amell in the lead role as Captain Hobie Buchannan, the son of David Hasselhoff’s Mitch Buchannan. Casting continues on the reboot, and after it was announced an OG would be returning, I’m in my feels over their heartfelt response.

It was recently revealed that David Chokachi, who played Cody Madison from Season 6 to Season 9, would be returning for the reboot. He is the first original cast member to sign on for the new series, even after Carmen Electra expressed her interest in it. Not surprisingly, Chokachi took to his Instagram Stories to share a message about how honored and excited he was about stepping back into the role almost 27 years later:

According to the character description via Variety, Cody is now runs the bar-and-grill The Shoreline, while still putting on the red trunks for an occasional lifeguard shift. He serves as a mentor and friend to his fellow lifeguards, providing a second home for them, and of course, offering free wings “after a big save.” It sounds like Cody will play a big part in ushering in this new generation of lifeguards, and from the sounds of his message, he is as thrilled as ever to step back into the red trunks.

Considering how big of an ensemble cast Baywatch had throughout its run, I can understand where Chokachi is coming from in terms of emotions. Not only is he returning to a character for the first time in almost 30 years, but the fact that they wanted him back out of everyone truly speaks volumes, and proves that his story is not quite done. Of course, this could also mean that he won’t be the only OG lifeguard returning, whether it’s in a series regular, recurring, or guest role, and there’s no telling who else could be joining.

Even with Chokachi returning, it’s still hard to predict how this new Baywatch will go. Reboots and revivals can be either a hit or a miss, and if the 2017 Baywatch movie is any indication, it’s that it doesn’t always work. No matter how big the original was. If anything, it’s nice that this new series seems to be a continuation of the original, rather than a full-blown reboot with completely new characters and no connection to the original.

I’m curious and excited to see how the Baywatch reboot turns out and if anyone else from the OG will be donning the red-hot swimsuit again. It’s anyone’s guess as to how it will go, but for now, fans can watch the original with an Amazon Prime subscription, as well as the 2017 movie.

Reboots and revivals are still cropping up consistently as part of this entertainment landscape, and another one is on the way. Baywatch is getting the reboot treatment again but, following the 2017 movie adaptation, the franchise is returning to its TV roots. At present, the series is getting off the ground, and casting has started. Now, it's been confirmed that Arrow star Stephen Amell is set to lead the show, and I really don’t mind him trading in the Green Arrow suit for a red swimsuit.

It was recently confirmed that Amell will play Captain Hobie in the Baywatch revamp. This marks his first series since Suits LA, which was canceled after only one season by NBC in 2025. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm excited about the prospect of Amell returning for another show. And, while I loved watching him in that Green Arrow suit for eight years on Arrow, he could definitely look good in red, assuming that the reboot sticks with the franchise's iconic red lifeguard swimsuits. Per Variety, the character description for Hobie Buchannon reads as follows:

For those who are familiar with the original Baywatch, David Hasselhoff portrayed Mitchell “Mitch” Buchannon during the first nine seasons. The head lifeguard-turned-lieutenant-turned-captain had a son, Hobie Buchanon, played by Brandon Call in the first season of Baywatch and then by Jeremy Jackson beginning in Season 2 until Season 9. So I'm curious to see how Hobie will continue his dad’s legacy in this new series. Of course, I'm also interesting in seeing what Amell brings to the role.

Speaking of legacy, there is one piece of Baywatch that certainly needs to be included, and I'm referring to the red swimsuits. It’s hard to imagine watching the series and seeing the characters running on the beach wearing swim gear that isn't red. Even Carmen Electra recently donned the famous red swimsuit after expressing interest in appearing in the new series.

It’s hard to recreate the essence of an IP like Baywatch, and the poorly reviewed 2017 film lends credibility to that notion. So it wouldn’t be surprising if the creative team were to try adding some fresh elements. Despite all that, though, you have to have the presence of red swimsuits is essential in my eyes, and I could certainly picture Amell rocking one.

I’m still curious to see how the Baywatch reboot progresses but, with Stephen Amell on board, I can definitely say the show now has a tried-and-true lead actor. He’s no stranger to taking on projects that are already-established and loved by fans, whether it’s an adaptation, reboot, etc. So this show is right up Amell's alley, and I couldn’t be more excited about it (as long as he’s wearing that red swimsuit, that is).

Hopefully, more updates regarding Baywatch casting will arrive sooner rather than later. In the meantime, check out the OG series and the 2017 movie, which can be streamed with a Prime Video subscription.

The ‘90s nostalgia is real, and fans who grew up watching the likes of Yasmine Bleeth, Pamela Anderson and Jason Momoa running in slo-mo on the beach on Baywatch are definitely keeping an eye on the 2026 TV schedule for the upcoming reboot on Fox. While we’ll undoubtedly meet a new cast of lifeguards, it’s possible that there will be a familiar face amongst them, as Carmen Electra has pulled out her famous red swimsuit.

Carmen Electra played Lani McKenzie on Season 8 of Baywatch’s original run, and back when news of a reboot began to circulate, the actress admitted she’d be game to hit the beach again. The sentiment seems to stand true today, because Electra rocked Baywatch’s iconic swimwear in a new Instagram post:

Excuse me?! Is it just me, or did we all have to scroll through the photos multiple times just to make sure Carmen Electra hadn’t accidentally reposted pics from her original stint? It’s like no time has passed at all, as the actress stood perched at a lifeguard stand, red Rescue Can in hand, ready to resuscitate timid swimmers in need.

However, the caption confirms that these photos were, in fact, taken a whopping 29 years after her initial run on the popular TV drama. Carmen Electra wrote simply “Baywatch 2026 ❣️,” and while it’s not clear if she’s merely celebrating the impending return of the groundbreaking lifeguard series this year or confirming that she’ll have a role on it, I’m really hoping it’s the latter.

When the Scary Movie 4 actress talked about the possibility of returning to the role of Lani, there was one big thing she said she’d want to change — fewer scenes in the water. While she is proud of the stunts she performed back in the ‘90s, like diving off of boats and tandem surfing, she said it was “always just freezing cold.”

If she were to return, she sees Lani in more of an advisory role to the newer lifeguards, possibly their captain.

It will be exciting to see if (and how many) familiar faces do end up joining the Baywatch reboot for either a main role or cameo appearance. Carmen Electra certainly isn’t the only alumni who still has a fondness for the show. In fact, Baywatch and Baywatch Nights star Donna D’Erico also donned the iconic red swimwear last year, bringing back all of those Donna Marco vibes.

As for what we do know about the upcoming Fox series, the Baywatch reboot was given a 12-episode order for the first season, although it sounded like more could be added if it is well-received. Matt Nix — best known for creating the USA Network hit Burn Notice — will serve as showrunner.

While we wait for more information regarding a premiere date and the new cast (red swimwear pics are also welcome), we can at least stream the original series, as those 11 seasons are available to watch with a Peacock subscription.

When Sam Raimi announces he’s made a new horror movie, that’s an event. Through some of his best movies, starting with the ’80s cult classic The Evil Dead, which kickstarted an iconic horror franchise, he basically invented his own subgenre. He gave us demonic goats in Drag Me to Hell and long ago turned camera movement into a character in its own right. Now, after a 16-year break (and no, Doctor Strange 2 doesn’t count), he’s finally back behind the horror wheel with Send Help. I’m almost ready to throw on my bloodiest party hat...almost. One pretty major detail is keeping me from going full celebration mode, however.

What I’m Excited About

The premise is chef’s kiss. The film follows Rachel McAdams (yes, The Notebook icon) and Dylan O’Brien as coworkers—she’s his underling—stranded on a remote island after a corporate retreat goes sideways. Once they crash, office politics turn full Lord of the Flies, and McAdams seizes control. The trailer, which can be seen lower down, teases the Spider-Man director’s signature style while giving Cast Away meets Misery vibes. If the blood-slick pratfalls and chaotic tone are any clue, we’re headed for something gloriously unhinged. And honestly, that’s precisely the Raimi I want.

The cast alone is reason to get excited. I’ve always been a fan of Rachel McAdams, and lately, it feels like she hasn’t had as much to sink her teeth into as she should. (Especially in the MCU, where Multiverse of Madness completely sidelined her.) So it’s great to see her not only back in a central role, but back in horror. It’s been twenty years since Red Eye (which really holds up), and she looks locked back into that smart, scrappy survival mode.

As for Dylan O’Brien—I’m admittedly not super familiar with the full scope of his work, but he looks delightfully insufferable here. I’m curious to see if Raimi plays the dynamic like a seesaw: getting us to flip loyalties between the timid underling and the awful boss as the story unravels.

But then there’s this tiny horror-friendly gremlin whispering in my ear—and yeah, it’s got me a little worried.

Why I’m More Nervous About Send Help Than I'd Like

The iffiest thing about this project, sight unseen, is the writers. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift are the duo behind Freddy vs. Jason, the 2009 Friday the 13th reboot, and (sigh) the 2017 Baywatch reboot. These guys love a big swing, but their work tends to get… noisy, to put it mildly

Their scripts often chase too many tones at once, without, in my opinion, entirely sticking the landing. Freddy vs. Jason is fun but messy all around, and Friday ‘09 has its moments, but it's more sizzle than steak. And Baywatch? It thought it was 21 Jump Street, but it sank far below sea level.

Which is why Send Help definitely needs as much focus and precision as possible everywhere outside of the script. Balancing cruelty and comedy is something Raimi can almost do in his sleep, but not as successfully if the script’s all over the place.

But I’m Still (Cautiously) All In

I definitely have my hesitations about Send Help, but I’m not writing it off. Far from it. Because if there’s one director who can whip tonal chaos into something coherent and wildly entertaining, it’s Sam Raimi. The guy has made some of the best horror movies of all time, leaning into comedy. His editing brain can rework a scene’s entire vibe with a single jolt-cut or an evil POV cam. If the script stumbles, he can literally spin the camera until it makes sense.

The filmmaker knows how to calibrate actors. McAdams looks like she’s having the time of her life here, playing frantic, capable, and maybe a little unhinged. O’Brien’s no slouch either. And a Single-location horror forces discipline. A stranded island is a narrative pressure cooker, with no room for filler. That’s Raimi’s playground, and I, for one, cannot wait until it lands on the 2026 movie schedule.

Everything that’s old is new again, even when we’re talking about iconic red swimsuits from the ‘90s. That’s right, Baywatch is slo-mo running its way back into the pop culture zeitgeist in the form of a TV reboot, and thankfully not as a sequel to the 2017 Baywatch movie with The Rock and Alexandra Daddario. The project has been in development for a while now, and the efforts have clearly been worthy, as Fox announced a straight-to-series order for the beach-set reboot, albeit with a big change behind the scenes.

The latest Baywatch project originated many years ago with production company Fremantle, but took a big step forward in early 2024 when Fox gave it a script commitment. At the time, the reimagining was being spearheaded by Lara Olsen, a TV writer known for such shows as Private Practice, Reba, 90210 and more. At the time, she was noted as being the showrunner and executive producer, but it doesn’t appear as if she’s still attached after some behind-the-scenes changes were made.

Baywatch's TV Reboot Now Has A New Showrunner

Taking over for Olsen will be Matt Nix, whose most celebrated creation to date is arguably USA's long-running crime dramedy Burn Notice, with Jeffrey Donovan and Bruce Campbell. Nix also created several other shows that didn't fare nearly as well, such as USA's Complications and the Fox dramas APB and The Good Guys, not to mention Disney+'s Turner and Hooch and CBS' True Lies. Only his Marvel-adjacent series The Gifted went behond a single season.

Nix will serve as both showrunner and EP alongside the co-creators of the O.G. series, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann and Doug Schwartz, with Dante Di Lorteo also on board.

It sounds like Bonann might be offering his talents in a larger capacity behind the scenes, as Fox's President Michael Thorn shared the following statement to hype the news:

Speaking to his poing about fresh stories and rising stars, no actual storylines or casting announcements have been made just yet, but now that the show is 100% happening, those updates will be on the horizon no doubt.

Baywatch's Episode Count And Premiere Window

At the time of this writing, Baywatch is being set up for a 12-episode first season, although this sounds like the kind of deal where the network could attach another nine or ten episodes to it for a full season.

As well, Fox is aiming to bring Baywatch back to viewers beyond the 2025 TV schedule, and is aiming for the 2026-2027 TV cycle, meaning it'll likely be set up with a premiere in Fall 2026. Unless of course the 12-ep order is specifically geared for a midseason arrival.

Fox's previous lifeguard-centric series Rescue: HI-Surf was being developed at the same time Lara Olsen was working on that iteration of Baywatch. The former series was canceled after a single season, making more room for such characters to take over primetime.

Baywatch already made waves earlier in 2025 when the global sensation hit streaming for the first time, following a slew of rights issues and other legal formalities that had to be figured out first. That all came in the wake of the 2024 docuseries After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun, which reflected on the O.G. series' wildly successful run.

When I think of Baywatch, I automatically think of Pamela Anderson’s iconic role in the TV show. However, I just found out how much the actress got paid early on to be in the show, and it’s definitely a lot less cash than what I would have expected. While promoting her leading role in what’s apparently one of the funniest 2025 movie releases, The Naked Gun, the actress spilled on what she originally made and how that compared to David Hasselhoff's amount.

How Much Was Pamela Anderson Paid For Baywatch?

When Pamela Anderson was on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show with The Naked Gun cast promoting the comedy, the host asked what she was making when she joined the series in 1992. Here’s what she said:

That’s not a lot, especially considering that Baywatch was once one of the most watched shows in the world, with an estimated weekly audience of more than 1.1 billion in 142 countries in 1996, per Guinness World Records. Cohen followed up his question by asking when her first renegotiation took place. In her words:

In the docuseries After Baywatch: Moment In The Sun, it was revealed (via The New York Post) that most actors on the show weren’t happy with their paycheck, with Nicole Eggert sharing they offered everyone “like $3,500 a show”. As the actress pointed out, it was a big difference to Friends where they were making “$1 million an episode”. The cast also claimed that “everyone was disposable” on Baywatch, and if you didn’t “fit into their brand” and the “price they were paying you, you were gone.”

How Did It Compare To David Hasselhoff?

After seeing this interview, I also learned that Pamela Anderson actually spent most of her life in debt. In her viral Netflix documentary, Pamela, A Love Story, it was revealed that she spent most of her life dealing with financial woes, even though at one time, she was one of the most famous women in the world. During the same Cohen interview, the host asked her if she thought she made the same as co-star David Hasselhoff. Here’s her response:

I'd like to think that if Baywatch premiered today things would be different, but it is what it is for Pamela Anderson. The 58-year-old icon shared that her kids are “very protective” over the fact that she didn’t get what she deserved on Baywatch and isn’t getting streaming residuals because the medium didn’t exist when she signed her contract. It sounds like they are ready to fight for her, and perhaps change those circumstances.

However, Anderson she said she likes what she’s “doing” right now. Considering CinemaBlend’s The Naked Gun review, we like what she’s doing right now, too!

After she became the Playboy Playmate of the Month back in February 1990, Pamela Anderson rose to prominence as a sex symbol. Whether she played a minor role as the original “Tool Time Girl” in the cast of Home Improvement or sported a red bathing suit in the Baywatch cast, the Canadian native was a pop culture bombshell of the decade. Being on a popular TV show like Baywatch, where she would do infamous slow-motion running scenes in a sexy bathing suit, is intense. Once studios catch on to the sex appeal an actress has, roles based on body type can come into play more than playing a developed character.

Now that Pamela Anderson is moving on to a new chapter in her late 50s, she's owning her look. The Scary Movie 3 actor got real about publicly going makeup-free and why it was important to her:

That’s very empowering of Pamela Anderson to show the world her natural look after years of her career being defined by glamour and makeup. Based on her Netflix documentary, Pamela, A Love Story, and her memoir, Love, Pamela, it looks like the animal rights activist wants to be her true, authentic self with the power to control the narrative. The Golden Globe nominee made sure to say in her podcast appearance that while she had no regrets for her past experiences, she's happy to be where she is now. Jason Momoa’s upcoming TV show with Pacific Islander representation is Chief of War. Coming to your Apple TV+ subscription in August, the Aquaman actor plays Native Hawaiian warrior, Ka’iana, who rebelled against the unification of Hawai’i that took place from 1782-1810. After a sneak peek showed the series lead and his co-stars running “half-naked,” fans are oddly making a lot of Pamela Anderson comparisons.

In the Apple TV+ sneak peek of Chief of War, you see Jason Momoa pumped for his running scenes, getting chased by his co-star, Brandon Finn, whom he described as “the new Tom Cruise.” Now, this I’m looking forward to seeing in full when the series becomes part of my streaming schedule. In Jason Momoa’s most badass roles, I’ve seen him in some wacky looks like a green-and-gold suit for Aquaman, sporting bangs for A Minecraft Movie, and deep smoky eyes and a ponytailed beard in Game of Thrones. The look of Momoa in an ancient Hawaiian loincloth (also called a malo) may not have been on my Bingo card this week, but I’m not complaining. However, fans like @michelewaagaard have pointed out the slow-mo sequence is giving out some Pamela Anderson vibes, and now that’s all I can see:

I love that! While ancient Hawaiian warriors are chasing after Jason Momoa’s Ka’iana, it’s no different than when the Baywatch lifeguards ran in slow-mo to save the day. Funnily enough, Baywatch star Nicole Eggert said the show’s slow-motion sequences came together by accident in the editing room, and the series just went with it when everyone loved it. But something tells me that for Chief of War, the slow-motion running was no accident and a clever way to show these Hawaiian natives mean business.

Yes, one of the fascinating things to know about Jason Momoa was that his start came from Baywatch: Hawaii! The then-19-year-old model was folding T-shirts in a surf shop one day and was chosen out of 1,300 people to play Jason Ioane. He would go on to be part of the shirtless, slow-mo fun for its two-season run and the direct-to-video movie, Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding.

On the other hand, the Fast X actor has made sure not to talk about the ‘90s drama series to his kids as well as Game of Thrones, feeling both those projects aren’t exactly family-friendly. It’s true that they don’t need to see their dad in red swim trunks or brutally killing people on screen.

You’d never think of linking Jason Momoa’s historical drama Chief of War with Baywatch’s Pamela Anderson. But if they keep putting dramatic “half-naked” slow-mo scenes like that, fans might see themselves go back to the pounding waves instead of the pounding drums heard in the background. Few TV shows managed to penetrate pop culture in the way that Baywatch has. Since its premiere on NBC in 1989, the long-running lifeguard-centered drama series has become iconic for featuring sandy beaches, impossibly attractive stars, slow-motion scenes and of course, those red swimsuits. It’s because of the show’s enduring popularity that Fremantle went to such great lengths to ensure that the series would finally be streamable. And, according to an exec, that required a lot of time, patience and of course, money.

In the position of Chief Operating Officer of Commercial and International at Fremantle is Bob McCourt, and he recently participated in the NEM event held in Dubrovnik, Croatia. During the event, McCourt explained (via Deadline) that there were mainly two major hurdles at play in order to get Baywatch ready for the streaming realm. One obstacle was the fact that the vintage episodes needed to be converted to high definition. Additionally, there was the matter of ensuring that the rights to the music featured on the show were cleared:

Clearing music for specific media can be a challenge in a lot of cases. However, imagine having to get that all straightened out for 400 songs across about 250 hours of TV. It’s a costly investment for sure but, in this case, there’s a lot to gain. Just the mere thought of the process seems tedious. Ultimately, many of those tunes ended up being replaced entirely, but the theme song is still present as are the songs of The Beach Boys.

As Deadline mentioned, heavily loved, vintage IPs can be lucrative for a media company in this somewhat unpredictable landscape. Bob McCourt further explained just why he’s now confident that his and his colleagues’ efforts to obtain the rights to the show and make it streamable:

Created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Gregory J. Bonann, Baywatch centers on the daily professional exploits of a team of lifeguards as well as their personal entanglements. After running for one season on NBC, the show was canceled, yet it managed to find new life via syndication, which is how it aired during its additional 10 seasons. The show also served as a springboard for the careers of notable stars like Pamela Anderson, Donna D’Errico (who still sports the swimsuit now and then) and Carmen Electra.

At this point in time, Fremantle is working with Fox to create a Baywatch reboot, which was first reported to be in the works in 2024. Bob McCourt said during the NEM event that he and his colleagues are still in “advanced talks” with the aforementioned network. Specific details are scarce right now, though a few franchise alums have weighed in on it. Pamela Anderson isn’t interested in returning as “C.J.” Parker, though Nicole Eggert – who’s discussed her time on the show – didn’t seem to totally throw out the notion of playing Summer Quinn again.

There are still plenty of questions revolving around the reboot but, even if it doesn’t happen, Fremantle’s business moves ensure that the OG Baywatch show remains available for years to come. As someone who’d hate to see any kind of media lost to time, I smile knowing that the nostalgia-inducing show is available to stream (and own on Blu-ray and DVD).

It’s been over 24 years since the "groundbreaking" Baywatch finished its run, though it remains a beloved part of pop culture. The characters' undeniable collective attractiveness, their iconic slow-motion runs and of course, the iconic red swimsuits are still worth discussing amid the 2025 TV schedule. While it's been some time since the show has been over, some of its stars still seem to hold it close to their hearts. Donna D'Errico continues to rep the show and, in fact, she just tried on her swimsuit -- and it still fits!

The Baywatch Nights alum is known to share photos of herself in sizzling hot swimwear. Just earlier this month, D'Errico rocked a gold bikini a pic, and she's shared other posts despite naysayers sharing mixed reactions. Her latest post may stir up a bit of nostalgia amongst her social media followers. The Donna Marco actress shared a photo with a plain background and added a simple caption that read, "Guess who found her old swimsuit…" Check out D'Errico's fresh post:

She definitely fills out that outfit perfectly, and it certainly screams Baywatch in the best possible way. I'd say that this is a great addition to the 57-year-old’s collection of swimsuit photos from social media, as it's just as if not more buzzy and attention-grabbing than the others. Honestly, the actress deserves her props, because she still looks absolutely stunning as she nears 60 years old.

Donna D’Errico's social media followers seem to be having a very good time with this particular post as well. Many of them have taken to the comments to show love (and some of them threw in some thirstier messages as well). The successful OnlyFans promoter obviously hasn’t lost her edge, and, quite frankly, I think she could still headline an entry in this franchise even now. On that note, a Baywatch reboot is indeed on the way. Pamela Anderson doesn't seem interested in joining the show, but I wouldn't be surprised if Donna D'Errico expressed interest in joining up. Just imagine Donna Marco overseeing a new generation of lifeguards. I'd love to see her return alongside other veteran characters from the original show (which is available to stream for free on Tubi).

It's cool that D'Errico still has and can still fit into her red swimsuit. This is a strong testament to her continued love for the show that arguably made her a star. I'm not sure if she'll ever reprise her famous role and wear that suit as part of a TV show. However, it looks like fans are content with the kind of content she's dropping right now.

You don’t have to be a regular viewer of Baywatch to know what it’s most famous for. The red swimsuits are iconic, of course, and then there’s the running. The slow-motion running scenes have been ingrained in pop culture for decades, and former star Nicole Eggert revealed the hilarious story about how they started and why some of those early sequences were “not cute.”

Nicole Eggert was one of several actors in the ’90s who found fame on Baywatch (which can be streamed with a Prime Video subscription), alongside Pamela Anderson, Yasmine Bleeth and Carmen Electra, to name a few. From 1992 to 1994, Eggert portrayed Summer Quinn, and she revealed on the Still Here Hollywood podcast that the running wasn’t originally intended to be slow motion. Eggert said:

Talk about a happy accident! The Baywatch run has been parodied so many times over the years, so it’s wild to think it was just an off-the-cuff choice, presumably to stretch that portion of an episode. The problem with that, as Nicole Eggert points out, is that since the production crew didn’t know the scenes were going to be slow motion, neither did the actors. She continued:

If you’ve ever done the Baywatch run (and don’t lie, because we’ve ALL done it), you know there’s a different form to it than simply just sprinting from Point A to Point B. It’s more graceful and, dare I say, bouncy. In a full-speed run (especially on sand), you’re not worried about the lines of your body or your facial expression.

That puts Nicole Eggert and other early-season Baywatch cast members at a huge disadvantage. As she pointed out, by the time others joined the show, everyone in front of and behind the camera knew how those running scenes would air on TV.

Having that knowledge, however, didn't necessarily help when it came to the physical aspect of all that running. Carmen Electra, who played Lani McKenzie from 1997 to 1998, said her running footage had to be edited to make it look like she could keep up with the others around her.

Zac Efron, who starred in the 2017 Baywatch movie, likely has his own stories about how hard the beach run actually is. The actor shared a couple of behind-the-scenes images from the fun flick that show him wiping out spectacularly while trying to do the slow-mo run. Talk about something you don’t expect to see in slow motion!

D’Errico can still deliver when it comes to beachwear, that’s for sure. It’s truly killer that she still easily turn a two-piece look with ease, especially since the OG iteration of the world has been off the air for over two decades! I’m down for as many empowered summer fits as D’Errico will share. Showing off style as well as body positivity at any age is A-OK with this fan.

As mentioned, Donna Marco didn’t enter the Will Rogers State Beach staff until its later years, then subsequently continued onto the short-lived Baywatch Nights. Regardless, she left her athletic and good-natured mark all the same. Now, amid the 2025 TV guide, Marco can only be seen in reruns or available to stream for free (with Tubi), but its cast and influence are still a large part of pop culture.

In addition to reliving the world-renowned series, we can now dive deep into the world with the four-part docuseries, After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun (which is streamable with a Hulu subscription). The special showcased the series' dynamic legacy, and how it continued to rise in popularity and ratings. And it does seem that had as much to do with signature swimwear collection as anything. And I believe D’Errico and her A+ golden two-piece bikini would agree.

This past week, news broke that veteran actress Pamela Bach passed away at the age of 62. According to reports, the star died by suicide. Bach was arguably best known for guest starring on popular TV shows like Cheers, The Fall Guy and T.J. Hooker. She also famously played the role of news reporter-turned-restaurant owner Kaye Morgan on Baywatch. On that show, she worked with former husband David Hasselhoff, with whom she shared two kids. Following Bach's death, Hasselhoff released a statement.

Pamela Bach reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to People. LAPD found the actress’ body at her Los Angeles home sometime after 10 p.m. PT on Wednesday, March 5. After the news broke, David Hasselhoff broke his silence on behalf of himself and the daughters he shares with Bach. Hasselhoff kept his sentiments brief, but he thanked the public for their support and added a request:

David Hasselhoff and Pamela Bach met on the set of the (since-rebooted) Knight Rider, back in 1985, and they eventually began dating. The two actors tied the knot in 1989 and eventually welcomed daughters Taylor Ann (34) and Hayley Hasselhoff (32). It was in January 2006 that Hasselhoff filed for divorce from his spouse. Their split was ultimately finalized by August of that same year. In the aftermath, each of the stars was awarded custody of one of their children.

Amid her various roles, the Tulsa native’s most famous gig may arguably be her stint on the red swimsuit-filled Baywatch (which is streamable with a Peacock subscription). Her character, Kaye, was introduced during the two-part Season 2 premiere, “Nightmare Bay,” and was established as a reporter investigating supposed sea monsters. The Rumble Fish alum would continue to recur as Morgan through the iconic beach-set show’s tenth season. She also reprised Kaye on the spinoff series Baywatch Nights.

Neither Taylor nor Hayley Hasselhof have released formal statements on their mother’s passing, as of this writing. However, did appear to acknowledge the loss through a post shared on her Instagram story. The media personality grabbed a throwback photo from a fan account, which showed both of her parents at the Jurassic Park premiere from the early ‘90s. A simple heart emoji was added above the photo as well.

Pamela Bach’s death is truly unfortunate to hear, and would imagine that her immediate family is currently processing the news in their own ways. Hopefully, David Hasselhoff and his daughters are given the space to grieve their loss as they see fit.

Alexandra Daddario is a big star, and like most big stars, wild rumors about her have spread on the internet. However, when asked if there is an “outrageous” rumor she can’t escape, she revealed a troublesome professional one that she bluntly debunked.

Now, you might expect this “outrageous” rumor to be about Daddario and her husband. Or maybe she might have revealed something that was speculated when she had her baby last fall. However, when Elle asked her to reveal “the most outrageous rumor [she’d] heard about [herself] that won’t go away,” she said:

From True Detective to The White Lotus (both can be watched with a Max subscription) to Mayfair Witches (which is currently airing on the 2025 TV schedule), she has been part of some seriously impressive projects that have shown off her skill and range as a performer. Plus, that Emmy nod is also a great signifier of her talent.

Sadly, though, as Daddario admitted, people might think she’s a bad actress because she’s been part of a few projects that weren’t critically acclaimed. For example, the reviews for 2017’s Baywatch were pretty terrible as it's 18% on Rotten Tomatoes shows, and that film is still brought up frequently when people talk about the actress. The Percy Jackson movies also weren’t met with the best reactions, which led to the franchise going unfinished. However, just about every actor has items in their filmography like that.

It’s an inevitable fact that some movies and shows flop despite having an excellent cast and tons of potential. Most of the time, a project's lack of success does not mean the actors in them are bad, it just means – as Daddario said – the project didn’t “showcase [them] in the way that [they] should be showcased.” It's not just actors who make a film or TV show good, the director, writer, and whole bunch of other folks help make a project successful, too.

Thankfully, the Mayfair Witches star has plenty of projects that do show off her skills as a performer and prove that she is not a bad actress. So, with that out of the way, let’s forget about this terrible rumor and let Alexandra Daddario live her best life as the great actor we know her to be.

The original Baywatch series is one of the most iconic and recognizable shows to air between the '80s and early '00s. When it comes to the characters sporting their signature red bathing suits amid the running montages, the cast seem to be fully in sync. However, Carmen Electra recently weighed in on the difficulties of staying in step with her peers. Funny enough, there amusing ways that the crew solved those issues.

Carmen Electra revealed to People, during their conversation celebrating Baywatch’s 35th anniversary, some of the tougher aspects of filming the show. The 52-year-old actress and model specifically shared that when entering the popular show’s eighth season, the showrunners were looking to hire cast members who could pull off as many stunts as possible. Electra (who's still stunning in red) discussed the amount of physicality that went into a day’s work from the classic running scenes to working regularly in water, saying:

The sheer effort that went into creating the show seems a lot more labor intensive than what the viewers saw on screen, but that's Hollywood. It's interesting hear these kinds of behind-the-scenes details, which I'd say can give you a better appreciation for the work that was being done. For her part, the Scary Movie alum amusingly called the series groundbreaking in that everyone’s bodies were on display for viewers, and I don’t disagree with her sentiments.

Later in the interview, Carmen Electra went on to explain how the show (which can be streamed with a Peacock subscription) helped balance the more athletic males' abilities with hers. She noted that while she was running as fast as she could through the hot sand, the guys would be directed to work in a way that complemented her physical abilities. She added:

Again, the foresight of the the California-set show's production team was incredibly invaluable -- not just for the stars but for our entertainment as well. This makes me eager to go watch old footage to see if the edited version reveals any hint of this BTS magic. This tidbit far surpasses the surprising wardrobe fact about the red swimsuits and how many cast members had very limited wardrobe. Quite frankly, this classic show continues to entertain and intrigue, even 35 years later.

It’s great to hear that Carmen Electra’s physical abilities didn’t deter her from landing Baywatch (which is being rebooted again). Quite frankly, I can't imagine those later seasons without her. And kudos to the production team for bumping up her performance just a tad.

In just a few short years, The Traitors has established itself as one of the best reality shows on the air. The campy competition series (which is streaming with a Peacock subscription) has had some truly iconic moments during Season 3, including when Zac Efron caught some strays by Bob The Drag Queen at the Round Table. And now we now which of the actor's movies the Drag Race winner was referencing when saying Efron wasn't a good actor.

While some fans are still figuring out how to watch The Traitors Season 3, I'm recovering with the twists, turns, and viral moments that have come out of the new season. Bob The Drag Queen's shade at Zac Efron is high up on that list, and when speaking with EW about the show, he revealed that he'd only previously seen High School Musical and Baywatch before making those comments. The We're Here star clarified his feelings for Efron, offering:

Biting is one word for this iconic exchange, which went viral online shortly after the episode aired. Although if he was judging Efron's talent by those two projects in particularly, it might be understandable that Bob doesn't think Zac is the Meryl Streep of his generation.

There's seemingly no hard feelings between Bob The Drag Queen and Dylan Efron, who have posted social media content together after the episode where Zac was roped into The Traitors. Later in the same interview, Bob spoke about the 37 year-old's more recent movie roles, offering:

Indeed, The Iron Claw got a ton of praise upon its release, especially for the performances given by both Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White. While he might not have gotten an Academy Award nomination for his performance, it shows how far he's come from his days playing Troy Bolton in the High School Musical franchise (which is streaming with a Disney+ subscription).

While Bob The Drag Queen was the first Traitor voted off this season, his influence is still being felt. We'll just have to wait and see how many more times the RuPaul's Drag Race fan favorite gets name dropped throughout the rest of the season.
