We’d love to believe TV shows are perfect creations with choices made purely for creative reasons, and not scheduling, finances, ratings, studio exec whims, etc. However, that isn’t the case in an industry where the bottom line is the top dog, and so television history’s annals are riddled with fractured storylines, forgotten characters (like Chuck Cunningham) and completely ignored histories. Some of the biggest shows of their respective eras, like Friends and Yellowstone, are just as guilty as those with less pristine productions.

It’s a wide-ranging topic that TV audiences love to get into nitty-gritty discussions about, with yours truly in that group for sure, and one Redditor sparked a ton of conversations with a recent post asking for others’ thoughts on shows with unresolved plots. A ton of different shows were namechecked, going far beyond the usual suspects like Lost, that holiest grail of “Did that mean anything to the plot?” inquiries. (Even though some can argue that Lost’s story gaps don’t matter.) So let’s dig into some of the gripes that fans laid out.

To kick things off, quite a few commenters were quick to point to Taylor Sheridan's rather hectic writing habits as a frequent offender of introduced-and-forgotten ideas on and around the Montana ranch in Yellowstone. I'll no doubt carry the third one listed below to my grave.

Yellowstone's Forgotten Plots

• In the first few episodes of Yellowstone, Kayce is having trouble adjusting to civilian life and calls his old commander and says he wants back in. The CO says "Pack a bag, im sending a chopper". Kayce says "i never unpacked" No helicopter ever arrives, no mention is ever made again of Kayce rejoining the service. Hell, at the end Sheridan's super cowboy character is at the Yellowstone helping with the liquidation auction. Then Teeter asks him for a job, and he says "why do you want to leave this place?", she says "too many memories". Both of them apparently forgot they just finished liquidating the ranch. - @UnderwaterKarma
• Still waiting for the bomb on the airplane to blow up on Yellowstone. - @PhutukKusi
• The one that immediately springs to mind is the kid - the grandson - finding the dinosaur. - @BlackbirdsGarden
• Also, when John stops to help the lady change her tyre and they both get shot we never find out what happened to her son. Makes me think that boy was originally going to be Carter since he appears at the start of the next series - @OnafridayR

I mean honestly, those dinosaur bones could have (presumably) been used in SOME way to argue for the ranch to be seen as a historical site of value. And it's not like fake bones would have another TV show to shoot that would conflict with a resolution. The same goes for Kayce's military background, which didn't come up nearly as much as it seemed like it might earlier in the run.

Now let's shift our focus to some shows that introduced main characters' family members and then dropped the siblings from the face of the earth.

Missing Siblings

• In the first episode of Sherlock it is deduced that John Watson has an alcoholic brother named Sam all from the appearance of his phone. This sibling is then said to be a sister. They are never referenced again even at Johns wedding. Nor is this quirk of Sherlock getting something 95% right because Sherlock is the one to notice and admit he deduced poorly. - @HatOfFlavour
• Seinfeld mentions he has a sister in the Chinese Restaurant episode ... She's never mentioned again. - @RunDNA
• In Brooklyn Nine-Nine, it’s pointed out that Amy is the way she is because she has 7 brothers, and not only do we only meet one (Lin-Manuel Miranda by the way) but none of them even to come to her wedding! - @alehansolo21
• On New Girl, Jess having a sister out of nowhere, and then sister disappearing again right after she was introduced. - @nomnomsquirrel

So often, TV siblings are just vehicles to bring in guest stars, which has a lot to do with why we never see them again. That wasn't so much an issue for Friends' Joey, whose gaggle of sisters showed up several times in the show's run. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for Phoebe's long-lost-then-found dad.

• Also, there's no mention of Phoebe's biological father after she meets him for the first time. The storyline of her search for her dad was so great, and was the main story for a number of episodes. Then she finally meets him, and it looks like the two might be able to slowly heal old wounds and form a relationship. Then he never came up again and it's like the whole storyline never happened. For me, that's the most frustrating one in Friends by far. - @Scarred-Face

This is definitely the kind of story issue that bothers me the most, when more than a single episode of plotting goes into tracking down a specific character, where conversations are had about the importance of it all, and then it just never comes up again.

Speaking of lengthy build-ups to fatherly reveals that go the way of the do-do:

Jon Snow's Lineage On Game Of Thrones

• Everyone talked up Jon being a Targaryen for fucking YEARS too before it officially happened on the show. It was going to have such massive consequences and either put a massive wedge between him and Dany for their claims to the Iron Throne… OR it would draw them closer together to give them an undoubted authority to claim the throne together. Then as soon as its confirmed… no one really mentions it as being important that he’s the son of Rhaegar Targaryen. In a setting where names mean eveything and are the most important factor in determining who should be sitting on the throne. - @dynesor

This was one of those book plot points that the HBO series could not stop fans from talking about and theorizing over during the earlier seasons. But then when it came time to finally make Jon Snow's ancestry live-action canon, the showrunners didn't go as far as they could have in drawing out possible ramifications.

While I would have little problem with singling out tons of other TV plots that never panned out, let's go through a quick selection of snipes targeting Pretty Little Liars, Blindspot, and more.

• Aria murders someone in the season 5 premiere and this incident is barely mentioned again. The whole show was so messy but the good outweighs the bad for me so I still have a lot of love for it- even if the night Allison disappeared is extremely convoluted - @athmeystic
• Blindspot. Jane Doe shows up covered with clue-based tattoos related to various future crimes and terror attacks. We eventually find out who tattooed her and why, but not where they got the foreknowledge for them to be cued by things like sports scores and other unpredictable events - @Fancy-Television-760
• Landry killing a guy on Friday Night Lights. Just swept it under the rug - @spokanetransplanted
• Just as a new one that nobody mentioned: Thawne/Wells was seen to be stealing genetic tissue or blood or some shit from captured supervillains in a pre-credits sequence in the first season of the Flash but this never came up again. - @ContinuumGuy

If only we all had the powers of The Flash (or even Reverse-Flash) to go back in time to convince all of these showrunners to wrap up their stories in better ways. Justice for Judy Winslow!

It’s always fun to see what is trending with my Netflix subscription and find a show like Blindspot. Starring Jaimie Alexander as Jane Doe, a woman with amnesia covered in tattoos that she doesn’t understand, the twisty series first ran in primetime on NBC, building its fandom between 2015 and 2020. So far, I’m only a few episodes into the first season, but I’m already worried it could go the same direction as The Blacklist, another show I enjoyed at first, but completely tuned out of by the end. Here’s why I’m worried.

I Actually Like Procedurals And ‘Story Of The Week’ Network Shows

I grew up in the 1980s watching lots of primetime TV (it’s all we had!), so I actually really appreciate network shows that tell self-contained stories in 45-minute chunks. In the age of streaming (and DVDs before it), television obviously evolved, and even in broadcast, most shows tell longer serialized stories across entire seasons.. Some of the best shows of the peak era of television, like The Sopranos, Dexter, and Game of Thrones, are great examples of how prestige television has changed the whole game.

I really miss the old version of TV in that way, though. There are still a few popular shows on the 2025 TV schedule that mostly follow procedural narratives, such as freshman hit High Potential and veteran drama Grey’s Anatomy, among others. I can still veg out on old (and new) episodes of Law & Order all day, while The West Wing, which was a combination of both formats, is one of my favorite shows of all time.

The Blacklist, starring James Spader and Meghan Boone started like that, telling a core overarching story about Red Reddington's shady past and his connection to Boone's Liz Keene, while also deftly telling a cool “story of the week” as well. That is, until it didn’t, and it became all about Red’s backstory, with the serial aspects completely taking over.

Blindspot Feels Like The Blacklist

So far, Blindspot feels a lot like The Blacklist, and for now I mean that in the best way. There is a greater mystery to be solved, but with each episode exploring self-contained pieces of the grander puzzle, each based on one of Jane Doe’s (played by MCU star Jaimie Alexander) tattoos. This isn’t unlike the self-contained adventure of each of the Blacklist episodes based on a name on Sapder’s character’s list.

I loved that early on, The Blacklist would reveal some clues about Spader’s relationship to Boone as episodes went on, but that those details were wrapped into the story of the week. So far, so good with Blindspot on that front, but given the way most TV plays out these days after multiple seasons under network constraints, you can understand why I’m concerned about where the show might be going.

I love shows that tell long stories and have huge over-arching plots that take multiple episodes or even multiple seasons to play out. However, not every show has to turn into one giant mystery where the golaposts move to keep the suspense going. Sometimes, like reading a book of Stephen King's short stories, I want something that puts a nice bow on a story in under an hour. I can't wait to see just how Blindspot wraps up.

Blindspot wrapped up its run this summer after five seasons on NBC with an open ending that left fans to decide on what really happened. Now, Blindspot’s creator is moving forward. Martin Gero already has another big and mysterious TV show in the works.

It is going to be tough for the new project to top the various twists and turns of Blindspot. That said, the show’s creator has a murder mystery that might do the trick. Deadline reports that NBC has officially moved Blindspot creator Martin Gero's new potential show, which he's working on with Blindspot executive producer Alex Berger, into development. What is it about?

The show is billed as a mystery drama, and the plot quickly reveals why. Written by Alex Berger, the potential series would follow a determined young reporter who witnesses her sister’s murder. As one would expect, she starts an investigation to find those responsible for the murder. And there's more!

In doing so, she enlists her legendary yet estranged father. He owes his legend status to his work as an investigative journalist. The two must work out whatever personal baggage they have in order to join forces and solve the mystery. The Blindspot executive producers’ potential show does not have a title yet. Something tells me that solving the murder mystery at the heart of this new project could take a while.

Interestingly, the plot description mentions “people” being behind the murder of the lead character’s sister. That sounds slightly conspiratorial and in the vein of the still-not-rebooted Alias. And Blindspot, for that matter. If this becomes a show, it should balance the human struggle of father and daughter reconnecting after so many years apart.

It is unclear how long their estrangement has lasted. Perhaps it has been for the daughter’s safety? Dad is a “legendary” investigative journalist, and it is easy to imagine he found something dangerous that could threaten his family while pursuing a story. Now, he will have to follow this new one with his daughter. The project is now only in development, so answers may be a while off.

For now, Blindspot fans will have to enjoy the potential of this show rather than a Blindspot spinoff. Thankfully, the creator did say he is open to one tied to Zapata. Warning! The following has spoilers for the Blindspot finale, so don't read it if you haven't watched and don't wish to be spoiled.

Blindspot came to an end recently, though there's still a debate about how it ended. The final episode of Jane Doe and the FBI team's adventure was given two endings in which we saw something really happy, and something really sad. Creator Martin Gero has said one end is the actual finale but hasn't revealed which. I'm not sure he has to anymore, thanks to one key detail that may give fans the answer they're waiting for.

Full disclosure, I was already pretty on board with the idea that the true ending of Blindspot is that Jane died shortly after the ZIP bomb was disarmed. I had some good reasons for thinking this at the time, and now I have one more thanks to a tweet from @rickem_3 after watching the finale. As Rick pointed out, the happy ending likely isn't the real ending, because Boston has all his fingers.

For those not following, Boston had lost a finger in the midst of doing some forced hacking for Ivy Sands in the penultimate "Love You To Bits And Bytes." Boston tried to make a case that he needed all of his fingers to get the job done as fast as possible, but Ivy seemed to think that the fact his life was on the line was motivation enough to work as quickly as possible. Boston lost a pinky finger and was dropped off by Patterson and Rich later without recovering it.

Jane wasn't a part of the whole bit with Boston, so it would make sense that her hallucination of him would be just as she remembered him regularly. I suppose it's possible Boston went back to the scene of the crime, recovered his finger, and then went to a hospital and got it re-attached with no hitches after he was dropped off, but all of that would've happened off-screen. That's quite a bit to go by unexplained, especially for an event that only happened the episode prior.

Now, just to be fair to happy ending folks, it's also possible Blindspot simply forgot about the detail of Boston's finger being missing when filming the finale. These things happen even with shows with enormous budgets, so it isn't impossible that the same thing happened here. I'll also entertain the theory that since we have no idea how much time passed since the Times Square incident in the happy ending, any number of scenarios could have resulted in Boston having a completely normal pinky finger once more. Who am I to say there weren't significant advances in medical technology in that gap?

My theory is that Boston lost his finger in the penultimate specifically so that eagle-eyed viewers would realize he had it in the finale. Think about it! Was there any plot to be drawn from Boston losing his pinky finger? Beyond the fact he was bandaged up, it was barely even touched on again after it happened. I guess the fact that he and everyone else had to disarm a bomb took precedence, but still, it's a weird event to happen to a character so close to the finale and then not be addressed again. Unless, of course, it was to confirm the true ending, in which case it makes perfect sense.

Blindspot recently aired its series finale and, while it certainly gave its fanbase a lot to talk about, there's always the crowd that wants more. Specifically, they're wanting to see a show that follows another member of the FBI team, now that the story of Jane has, one way or another, come to an end.

Granted, creator Martin Gero did somewhat put that on himself. The Blindspot creator made an in-joke in the finale about Rich and Patterson having a spinoff as world-renowned treasure hunters so, of course, questions were going to come about how he's feeling about the next chapter in the franchise. Deadline spoke to Gero about the possibility of a spinoff centered around Zapata's character, and he said the following:

Interestingly enough, Martin Gero would be open to a Zapata spinoff, especially considering the in-show joke was Patterson and Rich being the jet-setting adventure duo. As for Zapata, she was a private investigator in the midst of vetting someone for a corporation and raising the baby she was pregnant with via Reade. It wasn't enough to get a full read on what all she was up to, so a spinoff would be welcome to fans wanting more on what she's up to after the FBI.

Gero is on board but, of course, interest isn't the same as development. The Blindspot creator is pretty busy soon and ran down the projects he has coming to television in the future:

The real question I'm wondering is: did Martin Gero just tip off the true ending of Blindspot by sharing his thoughts on a Zapata spinoff? Keep in mind Zapata's future as a P.I. was only revealed in the happy ending, so maybe this is a sign things were happily ever after for Jane and Weller after all. I guess Zapata could still become a P.I. in either reality, though I'd hope we'd eventually learn the answer to which end was the real one.

NBC's Blindspot has aired its series finale, and man, it was a doozy of an episode. Jane's exposure to ZIP allowed for an obscene amount of cameos from past characters, and also delivered an ending that will have fans going back and forth on what happened as much as Sopranos fans do to this day. I won't be one of them, because I'm relatively sure I know which ending is real.

Blindspot viewers were shown two endings after Weller and Jane (who used her recent ZIP exposure to help her solve the case) disarmed the ZIP bomb in Times Square. In one reality, the two got their happy ending, fostered a bunch of kids, and everyone had come over for a family dinner of sorts. Patterson (whose first name is great) and Rich (who was with Boston) were adventuring around the world, and Zapata was a private investigator and a happy mother. Everyone was having a grand time together at a party, right until Jane was hit with an odd realization. It all seemed too perfect.

At that moment, Jane flashed back to the ZIP bomb disarming and Blindspot viewers saw a different scene. Weller and Jane kissed, the bomb was disarmed, and Jane collapsed to the ground. Paramedics arrived on the scene, but they were too late. The ZIP had taken over Jane's body and she was dead. In an ironic twist of fake, she was zipped up in a bag in Times Square.

So which ending is accurate? To me, it's obvious the answer is that Jane died, and the downer ending is the show's actual ending. My first argument is that while Jane said she got the antidote "just in time," we never actually saw that happen. Doctor Horne was far away from the action when the bomb was disarmed, and Jane even said she knew she didn't have much time left. Are we to believe she miraculously held on long enough to get the treatment?

To take things back even further, let's revisit the wedding scene. As Jane was traveling through the weddings of various characters, she was told by the hallucinations that it was all a construct. It was said to be a bunch of "bad bounces" and her brain attempting to give her a "happy ending before it shuts down." My thinking is this is exactly what happened after the ZIP bomb was defused, because again, Jane wasn't going to hold on for much longer.

I think I'm right, though only creator Martin Gero and perhaps a privileged few of the Blindspot team know the real answer. Gero shared his thoughts on the two endings with TV Guide, and apparently, confirmed that one of the answers is correct.

Gero's thoughts only make me more confident Jane died (like another beloved character), though I could be entirely off base. Had the happy ending shown the trip to Jane getting the antidote as opposed to magically stepping off the elevator, I would've believed it. Unfortunately, it didn't, and just like Patterson didn't die even though it seemed to happen offscreen, I believe Jane was not cured in some location unseen by Blindspot viewers.

Blindspot is done, but that doesn't mean there's a reason to have your mind wiped of its memory. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for updates on whatever comes next for the creators and cast, and the latest happenings in television and movies.

Hulu's TV Highlights for August 2020

Just when you thought you'd seen all of the Coronavirus-influenced material the entertainment world had to offer, Freeform's miniseries Love in the Time of Corona is about to make its debut in the next month. But instead of focusing on a drama involving harrowing stakes and tense encounters, this series follows four stories of emotional connection and enrichment during the recent pandemic. Central Park and Hamilton fans, you're going to want to watch this one, as Lesile Odom Jr. is one of the producers and cast members alongside real-life partner Nicolette Robinson.

If you're a fan of the time traveling dance show Find Me In Paris, the third season of this Hulu series for young adults will be making its debut in the compliment of returning series. Also coming online is the seventh season of CBS' hit sitcom Mom, as well as the final season of NBC's Blindspot, which will be available in its completed form around a month after its finale has aired on network TV.

Hulu's Movie Highlights for August 2020

Movie-wise, Hulu has quite a few impressive options heading to its library. Started with the latest original film on the platform, The Binge is basically what would happen if The Purge wasn't about murder or crime being illegal for a single day, but rather what would happen if that lack of enforcement applied to drugs and alcohol. Vince Vaughn and The Righteous Gemstones' Skyler Gisondo co-star in this comedic spin on a rather familiar pitch.

If you want something more heartwarming, and have been looking forward to seeing Shia LaBeouf and Zack Gottsagen's triumphant adventure The Peanut Butter Falcon, you can finally catch that film on Hulu in August. Blindspot Season 5 has been a wild ride all along, and it's looking like it may end just as strongly as it started. Just when it seemed like the FBI team was well on its way to being free and clear of prosecution, Ivy Sands and the Dabbur Zann continued with carrying out Madeline Burke's master plan. The team had to act, but it all came at a devastating cost.

The biggest cost potentially being what happened in the penultimate episode's final moments. Jane had tracked down Ivy and was able to contain the ZIP in the location. Unfortunately, she could only do that by air-locking herself inside the room, thus exposing herself to the ZIP. If the chemical does what it's designed to, Jane will lose all of her memories all over again.

It was a heart-wrenching sacrifice made all the more tragic as Weller watched from the other side of the glass. He tried to get her out of the room, but Jane didn't want to expose anyone else to this. She knew exactly what would happen, and ironically, it's looking like Blindspot may go full circle with Jane undergoing a complete memory wipe.

If there's any upside to this, it's that Jane likely spared the rest of the city a cruel fate, and won't remember that the FBI team may be screwed anyway. Jane, Weller, and the formerly shaky Zapata were on their way to stop Ivy when the interim FBI director gave a direct order to stop the operation. Weller informed his colleagues that if they stayed the course, they would undoubtedly risk legal repercussions and hurt their case for exonerating themselves. They all collectively decided it was too big to back down on, and went ahead anyway.

It was a noble act, and upsetting considering just how hard the Blindspot team fought to defeat Madeline Burke. While they stopped her reign of terror and Madeline had killed herself, it seems like the second part of their goal to return to their normal lives may be unattainable. Quite a downer ending if Blindspot intends to follow through with it!

Meanwhile, Ivy Sands and the Dabbur Zann are still out there, and potentially able to set off more ZIP in major cities. It sucks, but perhaps there's some opportunity for Weller and the team to redeem themselves, even if Jane is out of commission. Needless to say, the stage has been set for what should be a very interesting finale, and with the death of Madeline Burke already done, it's difficult to predict how this whole series will finish. NBC is no help with the synopsis for the episode, which quotes a Beatles song:

"Tomorrow Never Knows" is a fantastic song, but not helpful towards decoding what's going on with Blindspot's finale. Will the FBI team get the happy ending they deserve or is this series about to go out on a very sour note?

The Blindspot team almost had a big ally against Madeline Burke after Zapata convinced Burke's son she wasn't the person he thought she was. Unfortunately, Madeline was once again one step ahead, and with the use of ZIP, wiped her son's memories of her permanently so as not to derail her master plan.

It was a huge blow to the FBI team, though they still have their ally sending cryptic messages via news articles. Jane and the others don't know who their ally is, but Blindspot revealed the mystery helper for the viewers at home. It turns out the mysterious ally helping to bring down Madeline Burke is none other than Jake Keaton.

Jake Keaton was last seen being reassigned to Malta in an promotion/exile of sorts in Season 4, and hasn't been seen since. Apparently, he's gotten tired of sitting out and is now helping the FBI team from the sidelines as well as working in collaboration with Weller's ex, Allison Knight. Even though it seems like the FBI team can't get a leg up on Madeline, it looks like they may have more allies working to take her down than they know!

That's a good thing because the promo for the upcoming Blindspot episode shows that shit is going to hit the fan in a big way for the team very soon. Check out the trailer for "Ghost Train," which shows a rough episode ahead for the team as they fight to survive an attack.

Looks like Patterson did something that finally allowed Madeline Burke to narrow down which bunker they're staying in, and lives are certainly at risk. Could Blindspot be serving up another major exit, or will Keaton and any other hidden allies of the FBI team (like whoever Keaton was talking to on the phone) make themselves known and find a way to make sure everyone lives to fight another day?

I'm hopeful for the latter, but with this being Blindspot's final season, I'm not so sure. Reade's death at the beginning of Season 5 was a blindside, so there are no guarantees that another major member of the team won't die soon. I'd like to think the fans suffered enough, especially after learning that Zapata was carrying Reade's child that he would never know, but it wouldn't be a final season if there wasn't a little more heartache to be had before this season is up.

Let's face it, it's going to take a lot to take Madeline Burke down, and I wouldn't be surprised if at least one member of the main cast will be forced to lay down their life to finally put an end to her madness. My money at the moment is on Jane or Weller, which would be a real knife-twist to end the series, but not entirely surprising given how motivated these characters are to clear their names. For now, we can only wait and see if everyone survives the next episode.

Television shows have varying shelf lives. Some go on for more than a decade, like Supernatural and Grey’s Anatomy, while others have only a few seasons to tell its stories. Blindspot is somewhere in the middle. The series was renewed for a fifth and final season (not too shabby!), and Sullivan Stapelton recently revealed why he was actually happy to hear the show was being cancelled.

Blindspot’s future was called into question after NBC made a schedule change while Season 4 was still airing last year. Not to mention that it’s been on the verge of getting cancelled before then. So when the network renewed the show for a shortened and final fifth season, Blindspot’s Sullivan Stapleton was thrilled because it meant NBC execs were letting the story play out in Season 5 instead of abruptly calling it quits after the major Season 4 cliffhanger. Here’s what Stapleton told Collider:

Knowing in advance that Blindspot would end with Season 5 definitely seems to have made Sullivan Stapleton “grateful.” There aren’t a ton of series that get advance notice before they’re taken off the air, so the fact that the Blindspot writers have the opportunity to close out the show the way they planned is fantastic.

Having a definitive timeline for when the show will end might also translate to Sullivan Stapleton’s Kurt Weller getting a proper ending to his arc. Suffice it to say that Weller has had it rough in Season 5, as he’s been tortured and coerced into revealing the team’s location.

Weller will be dealing with the aftermath of his kidnapping as well as the team’s mission, and that’s on top of having faced a traumatic loss at the beginning of Season 5. And despite Blindspot’s final season having less episodes, I’m sure the writers have something great in store for the series finale.

The Blindspot team finally caught a break in Season 5, and for a time, it really seemed like things were looking up. After a weird and somewhat heated reunion with Ice Cream, Jane and crew were forced to put their mission of clearing their names on hold in order to engage in an art heist.

The good news is that Ice Cream had something to make this mission worthwhile, as improbable as that sounds. He had backdoor access to the spy communication app Beaconer, which would give the team proof that Madeline Burke has been in contact with the terrorist organization Dabbur Zann and was in cahoots with its leader Ivy Sands. The news is a big get for the team, and presumably, would tarnish her name and buy the FBI team more time to clear their names.

Madeline Burke presumably doesn't know about any of this, but because she's crafty and hellbent on taking down the Blindspot team, she already has some leverage anyway. The team will have to wait on its plan as they have to figure out a way in next week's episode, called "Awl In," to stop that dangerous amount of ZIP she's hoping to unleash on innocent people and erase their minds. Oh yeah, and a familiar face will drastically raise the stakes.

That old ally isn't just anyone; it's the mother of Weller's daughter. Allison Knight and Kurt were a thing prior to Jane entering the picture, and ultimately fell apart due to Kurt's feelings for Jane. She became pregnant with Bethany after, and will soon be pressed for information on her ex and the Blindspot team by Madeline Burke.

It's a dangerous situation, but it remains to be seen if Allison Knight understands just how dangerous it is. We've seen Madeline Burke can press cooperation out of people whether they're willing or not (usually by killing), though the television message sent in the preview for the next episode didn't seem all that forced. It did seem like Burke was intentionally trying to let Weller know Knight is in her custody, as if to scare him out of hiding to protect her.

A brief moment towards the end of the "Awl In" preview showed Jane and Kurt talking, and he looked conflicted. Jane told him it's okay to be worried about the mother of his daughter, potentially signaling that his anxiety or desire to get her out of that situation won't be seen by Jane as any form of threat to their relationship. Hey, it's good to know they don't have yet another personal problem to deal with, but maybe I shouldn't jinx the FBI team before next week's episode.

Spoilers for the June 11 episode of Blindspot entitled “Head Games” are discussed below.

One Blindspot character had it really rough in the latest episode. Kurt Weller was tortured and drugged, and during the course of the ordeal, he hallucinated and provided a clue to the team’s location. Weller shared that they had taken cover in a bunker in Europe. Hence, one Blindspot star is teasing the aftermath for Weller and the team.

If you thought Weller would be having a tough time after enduring what he has, you are on the right track. Fresh from the effects of Zapata’s second-guessing, Blindspot’s Sullivan Stapleton has teased that the fallout for Weller will reach beyond his own personal torment. On how the experience has impacted Weller, Stapleton told TVLine:

Weller has never needed to be sharper, and yet the situation that he has endured has almost assuredly made it so he is off-balance. When you take into account how much the team has already suffered in Season 5, Weller’s torture could be a breaking point on Blindspot.

The team is already shouldering the loss of Reade from earlier on Blindspot, a tragedy that has left the team mourning. Now comes Weller’s snafu of sharing a generalized location for the team and what exactly their hideout is, and you have a recipe for disaster. It could also lead to the team’s “downfall” on Blindspot as Sullivan Stapleton explained, saying:

Well, this is a frightening notion, Blindspot fans. Essentially, Sullivan Stapleton is saying that the fear now gripping the team is that a member will be singled out and tortured to learn their fellow members’ location. It is a fear that is all the more tangible in light of Ice Cream’s arrival and subsequent demand.

Of course, it may also be the one to ensure the safety of the baby and the team. Weller and the team have some tough choices to make, and while there is some comfort in the non-specifics of his slip-up, something will probably have to give. Will all of this lead to the team’s total downfall on Blindspot? Something tells me some will pull through.

How depressing would the final season be if the entire team was killed by Dabbur Zann? Exactly. That said, Blindspot’s showrunner had teased after last season’s finale that there would be no quick fix to the situation with their adversaries. It seems the action, adventure, and suspense of what will become of the team will be front and center as Blindspot continues.

At this point, Weller will have to carry the heartache of knowing that his admission gave the enemy an inkling about the team’s whereabouts. Hopefully, it does not end in anything awful. Find if it does when new episodes of Blindspot air Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. The show is one of many dramas airing new throughout this summer.

Kurt Weller went through hell and back in the latest Blindspot, and while he ended up okay by the episode's end, he may have jeopardized the safety of the FBI team. Madeline Burke's latest minion drugged Weller after his kidnapping and attempted to pull answers out of him while he hallucinated them as people from his past. Thankfully, minus one small slip-up, she was unsuccessful in learning their location.

The problem is any one slip-up puts the FBI team that much closer to being discovered, which is bad news. Last time the Blindspot team's safe house was discovered, Reade was killed in a drone strike. A drone strike or strike team could get dispatched to their bunker very soon, though Jane explained there is some safety considering Europe has "hundreds" of bunkers.

Weller screwed the team over a little, but really, it was a collaborative effort between him and Rich. While Kurt was getting tortured, Rich, Patterson (whose first name was revealed earlier this season) , and Zapata were trying to save Jane's life after she had been shot. They had the equipment to perform surgery and remove the bullet inside her, but needed blood for Jane to have any chance at surviving surgery. Zapata was ruled out as a donor when she was forced to reveal her pregnancy to Patterson and Jane, but Rich said he knew a blood guy and rushed off to find him.

Rich found his blood guy, and while he ultimately saved Jane's life, his blood guy isn't the best secret keeper. Soon after the Blindspot team had a warm reunion, the bunker elevator started moving. The team pulled out their guns, but were advised not to shoot by a familiar face fans may remember as Ice Cream.

Ice Cream wasn't asking the team not to shoot because he was there to make peace though. He and his crew had devices linked to their hearts that would ping their locations if they died. It was a way to extort the Blindspot team, and help repay a debt that will be covered in the next episode "Fire & Brimstone."

The good news is the team will get to leave the bunker. The bad news is this art heist may attract more unwanted attention with Burke, though they don't really have a choice in participating thanks to Ice Cream. Perhaps this will work out for the best, and Weller and the team will find another location in helping settle the score with Ice Cream? Here's hoping, because personally, I'd rather not see another team member die after their safe house is blown.

Blindspot showed something was very off with Tasha Zapata in its last episode, as the agent's moments of inaction almost cost both the team and herself when it was time to act. Zapata revealed it was largely due to her thoughts on Reade's death, but this week showed that's not the whole story. Turns out Zapata is pregnant, and yes, Reade is the father.

It was a bittersweet reveal to be sure, as Blindspot viewers instantly realized Reade will never know his child and vice versa. It also explained a bit about why Zapata was so shaken up the episode prior, though I'll say the death of her lover Reade was certainly enough. Knowing Tasha's pregnant as well certainly made it surprising she's even holding on as well as she has, and made her ability to battle through that hesitation in "And My Axe" so much more impressive and an applause-worthy moment.

The question is: what's next after this? Zapata only told the news of her pregnancy to Rich, and he was sworn to secrecy until she was ready to tell the rest of the team. Not even Patterson could get the news out of him, though her prying makes it seem like he could spill the beans before long. The news will come out eventually, though Zapata may get a brief reprieve from having to share the news following this episode's surprising end.

The good news is that the episode's end shifted the story away from Zapata enough she may be able to keep her pregnancy under wraps. The bad news is that Jane took a bullet to the stomach, and Weller was kidnapped by Madeline's people. The current situation is laid out quite perfectly in a synopsis for next week's "Head Games," which shows just how quickly things have gone downhill for the team.

To put things in perspective, Weller, Jane, and Zapata just ran the FBI team's last field mission. Now it's up to Zapata to either act with an injured Jane, or figure out a way to get Weller out of his situation to give the FBI team any shot at taking more steps forward to clear their names. Blindspot fans can only hope for the best, though I suspect that even though the chips are down, Zapata and the rest of the team will find a way to get Weller back without losing another one of their own.

Blindspot's drama is only getting messier as the FBI team isn't any closer to bringing down Madeline Burke and she's only gaining power. What's more is that the team is only just holding it together, with a botched mission nearly costing them another life towards the episode's start. It ultimately fell apart due to Zapata's "bad feeling," which could burn the team again down the stretch in Season 5.

A mission went south for Zapata, Jane, and Kurt, and as Blindspot later revealed, it was largely due to Zapata. Zapata was supposed to cover Kurt in the originally discussed plan, but at the last minute, began to feel out of sorts and tried to abort the mission. Unfortunately the team's comms were cut, so Kurt ended up getting pinned by gunfire with no backup. All three ended up making it back safe at separate times, but Jane was forced to take a hostage they wouldn't have taken had the mission gone on as planned.

That Dabbur Zann hostage ended up being a much bigger deal than the Blindspot team thought, and tried to make an escape from the bunker they were all in. The team made it so he couldn't escape, but was then forced to try and find him before he found a way to take any of them out. Zapata suggested they wait for him to surface by staying in the room they were all in, but was quickly shot down as everyone else agreed they didn't have time for that.

The team went on the hunt, and while they had a slight jump on their terrorist hostage, Zapata froze again. The Blindspot character was held at knife point, and could very well have been another surprise exit had Kurt not gotten a perfect shot on the terrorist right between the eyes. Zapata walked away unscathed, and was finally forced to confront the fact that she's not okay.

Zapata later confided in Jane that she was aware something was wrong, and that she hadn't felt right since Reade's death in the Blindspot premiere. It's understandable because she lost the person she was closest to on the team, though she's now realizing that things are as real as they've ever been. They're all in very real danger, and the weight of having to make a call that could cost someone their life is really hitting her at the moment.

It was good of Zapata to open up like that and make Jane (who shared similar thoughts she has had) aware of it, but Blindspot fans have to be worried about her going forward. Her hesitation may be an arc Season 5 revisits in these final episodes, and it feels there's going to be a gut check moment for her coming up. When it's time for Zapata to respond, will she step up to the plate, or will another moment of hesitation cost her or someone else their life?

One of Blindspot's biggest remaining mysteries has finally been revealed: the first name of Ashley Johnson's forensic scientist Patterson. Thanks to a returning guest appearance by Patterson's father Bill Nye, viewers now finally know the character's first name after years of waiting, and they can't even because of how odd and equally perfect it is: William.

The big reveal came after Patterson and Daddy Dearest successfully stopped a bomb from exploding beneath a stage, successfully thwarting Madeline Burke's hit on an outspoken rival. The family reunion was short-lived though, as Patterson needed to go back into hiding with the rest of the FBI team. During their farewell exchange, the in-character Bill Nye affectionately called her by her first name, William. Almost immediately, social media started raining in reactions to the confirmation, with almost everyone left in shock.

The gut reaction is that the fictional Bill Nye was responsible for naming his daughter William, which is traditionally a boy's name, obviously. Oddly enough, there's something really sweet about Patterson basically being the Bill Jr. to Nye's Bill Sr.

It is a sweet gesture, though some Blindspot viewers were able to see the other side of the coin. Namely, the fact that despite however sweet a gesture it was, it was no coincidence that Patterson successfully kept her first name out of her colleagues' ears and mouths for so long.

Patterson was more than a little embarrassed to have her first name uttered within the earshot of fellow agents, though her shame deepened when Bill Nye attempted to take it one step further. According to the Science Guy, Patterson had a Space Camp name, and judging from Patterson's expression, that moniker was way more embarrassing in comparison. Blindspot fans had just gotten a five season long question answered, and in comes another one.

Alas, TV fans' desires can rarely be fully satiated. Blindspot has already given fans a major death and answer to a major question in its final season, and already people are pressing for more details! There are plenty, though, who really held onto the moment and appreciated just how mind-blowing it was to finally put that mystery to rest.

For Blindspot fans, getting such juicy reveals like this in the final season is a good sign for what's still left to come. Obviously, I can't say for sure, but based on these first two episodes alone, I'm getting a sense that there won't be too many people disappointed with this finale when it finally rolls around.

The Season 5 premiere of Blindspot kicked things off with a major death that will shake up the rest of the season. It was shocking, to say the least. After Madeline Burke leveled the FBI team’s safe house with a drone strike, everyone miraculously survived. Everyone except for Reade, that is. Following that game-changing death, Blindspot star Rob Brown reacted to his character getting killed off so early on in Season 5.

Reade and Zapata had only just gotten back together, so when Reade saw that she was trapped underneath some of the debris, he made the quick decision to shift his weight to get her out. However, that one move proved fatal and he was crushed. And so, the Season 5 premiere ended with a surprising fatality that will forever change the FBI team moving forward. Speaking with ET, Rob Brown revealed his feelings about Reade’s death. Here’s what he said:

That’s definitely a positive way to react to the news of your character’s death. Rob Brown always figured that Reade would kick the bucket and could’ve died “at any point” in the last few seasons. And, hey, at least Reade made it to Blindspot’s final season!

In the end, Rob Brown could rest easy knowing that Reade went out like a hero and sacrificed himself for the woman he loved. Here’s how he put it:

Blindspot showrunner Martin Gero revealed that there were “some business reasons” for why one of the leads had to get the ax and that the writers ultimately came to the decision that it was Reade who would die because it made sense creatively. But, if fans think they've seen the last of him, fear not, because Rob Brown and Gero revealed that Reade will be back. He's still dead, of course, but viewers will get to see him again before the end of Season 5. However, how that will happen is anyone's guess at this point.

Blindspot didn't necessarily open with a bang to kick off its final season, but fans certainly saw a massive one later in the episode. The FBI team had been hanging out in a safe house when they got a call from Director Matthew Weitz. Madeline Burke had discovered their location, and had launched a drone in their direction in an effort to see them all blown to smithereens.

Those inside the safe house quickly tried to make their way to an underground passage to get to safety, but were only just inside the entrance when the missile hit. Jane, who was the only person outside the safe house, ran to the wreckage unsure of who was alive and who wasn't. In the end most everyone survived, save one. Reade had shifted his weight in the debris to save Zapata, but crushed himself in the process.

It was a heroic sacrifice for Reade, who knew that by creating space to save Zapata, he'd die in the process. The Blindspot team took the death pretty hard of course, but none so much as Zapata who was seen bawling outside once alone. The two had only just gotten back together, and now she has to live with the knowledge that he died so that she could survive.

It was a sad moment, but as Blindspot creator Martin Gero told TVLine, a necessary move. Gero explained the decision as the show heads towards the finish line, saying this:

So for any Blindspot fans upset that actor Rob Brown won't be around for the show's final run, there is some upside to this exit. More stories are coming that will only grow from this explosive premiere, and hopefully, there will be some justice for Reade before this series is all said and done. There could also be more high-profile exits as well. Who can say when Blindspot went this strong out the gate?

The coronavirus has all but brought the TV industry to a standstill, with shows large and small halting production. This has meant a lot of TV shows will be delayed or incomplete due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the future is uncertain as to when they might be able to resume production on new episodes. Fortunately, some series did already finish producing full seasons, and viewers aren't out of options just yet. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be back, The Masked Singer still has many singers to unmask, and more.

If you're already dreading shows like those in One Chicago, the Arrow-verse, and Grey's Anatomy running out of episodes sooner rather than later, read on for some shows that prove that TV isn't running out of content just yet.

The Masked Singer Season 3 - Fox

The third season of The Masked Singer is currently going strong on Fox, both in the ratings and in the spectacular performances by the mystery competitors. While it is already several weeks into the competition, The Masked Singer is a highly social and sensational TV experience, so it's not hard to drop in and out of the series. The Masked Singer is a solid choice that definitely doesn't dwell on current events. Season 3 has already completed filming, and the season finale doesn't air until May 27, so there are plenty of episodes left to enjoy even if you haven't been watching since the premiere.

How To Get Away With Murder Season 6 - ABC

How to Get Away with Murder is currently in its sixth and final season, with the remaining episodes already filmed and finished. The winter premiere proves the remaining episodes will be somewhat Game of Thrones-esque, and the series finale doesn't air until May 14. With the first five seasons available streaming on Netflix, How to Get Away with Murder can be a complete viewing experience with a beginning, middle, and end, and that's not something many current series will be able to deliver thanks to the coronavirus pandemic delays in the 2019-2020 TV season.

Killing Eve Season 3 - AMC

Premiere Date: Sunday, April 12 at 9 p.m. ET

Far from being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Killing Eve Season 3 is actually releasing earlier than originally expected in the 2019-2020 TV season. The third season of the critically acclaimed and thrilling series starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer will take the April 12 time slot formerly allotted to The Walking Dead's Season 10 finale. When that zombie apocalypse event wasn't completed in time due to the pandemic, AMC made the decision to give Killing Eve the slot. The first two seasons are already available streaming on Hulu, so newcomers can catch up ahead of the premiere.

The Bachelor: Listen To Your Heart - ABC

Premiere date: Monday, April 13 at 8 p.m. ET

Although the coronavirus pandemic has meant that Clare Crawley's season of The Bachelorette had to be put on hold (with spoilers expected to dry up), Bachelor Nation isn't wholly out of luck thanks to the franchise's latest spinoff: Listen to Your Heart. The six-episode run of The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart finished filming back in February, so viewers can look forward to a month and a half of Bachelor drama with a musical twist, as the eligible bachelors and bachelorettes going on dates that focus on music, and their harmony as couples will be tested through musical challenges.

In The Dark Season 2 - The CW

Premiere Date: Thursday, April 15 at 9 p.m. ET

The first season of In the Dark, focusing on a blind woman by the name of Murphy who preferred to drink and coast her way through life until the loss of a friend, ended on some major twists. Like Killing Eve, In the Dark's premiere was moved forward in the schedule after coronavirus delays forced a reshuffling of the lineup. Originally slated to return on May 28, the April 15 Season 2 premiere means fans don't have as much of a wait as expected but newcomers still have time to get through the 13-episode first season on Netflix if they so choose.

Council Of Dads - NBC

Premiere date: Thursday, April 30 at 8 p.m. ET

The freshman drama Council of Dads technically premiered immediately following the Season 4 finale of This Is Us on March 24, but it will be back with its time slot premiere on April 30. Following a family in the aftermath of of a tragic loss, three men step up to act as a "council of dads" to help their deceased friend's kids and form an unconventional family unit. Council of Dads showrunner Tony Phelan spoke with CinemaBlend about the series, and he promised that not only did the show finish filming Season 1, but the team is already thinking ahead to a Season 2.

Blindspot Season 5 - NBC

Premiere date: Thursday, April 30 at 10 p.m. ET

The fifth season of Blindspot will also be the final season, and it will pick up on the Season 4 finale cliffhanger that left fans wondering about the fates of a whole lot of characters, with the notable exception of Jaimie Alexander's Jane. The show will move to its regular Thursday time slot at 9 p.m. ET for the second episode of Season 5, airing May 7. All four seasons that have aired so far are streaming on Hulu, so there is time to watch and/or rewatch the series ahead of the April 30 return and then go along for the ride of the last season.

Stargirl - The CW

Premiere date: Tuesday, May 19

Stargirl will be one of the more unique shows hitting the airwaves during the coronavirus pandemic, as episodes of the latest DC superhero series will actually release first on the DC Universe streaming service before premiering on The CW the next day. Focusing on Courtney Whitmore's superhero journey, Stargirl will be a brand new show that is kinda sorta set in an existing universe. The Arrow-verse's "Crisis on infinite Earths" event brought the various DC TV shows (and even the movies) together into one universe. Stargirl takes place on Earth-2 rather than the Earth-1 of the Arrow-verse shows, making it a show suitable for new or returning superhero fans.

The 100 Season 7 - The CW

Premiere date: Wednesday, May 20 at 8 p.m. ET

The 100 marks another series that will come to an end in the 2019-2020 TV season after actually finishing production. Showrunner Jason Rothenberg shared (via Twitter) that the seventh and final season wrapped on March 15, so the saga that has followed Clarke Griffin and Bellamy Blake quite literally across space and time will seemingly come to its intended ending, which is more than can be said for another long-running CW series that was meant to wrap this spring. The first six seasons of The 100 are available streaming on Netflix now, giving time to rewatch or catch up ahead of the Season 7 premiere in May. And there's a prequel coming!

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 - ABC

Expected premiere date: Summer 2020

The seventh and final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has likely been completed or close to completed longer than the rest of the shows mentioned here, but it has yet to receive a premiere date. The last primetime Marvel series standing, S.H.I.E.L.D. finished filming Season 7 back in July 2019 and is expected to release in the summer. The final season swung for the fences and is completed, so it's just a matter of time before it hits the airwaves on ABC.

Interestingly, both Chloe Bennet and Clark Gregg retweeted a fan's request that ABC release Season 7 early while everybody is in self-quarantine, so it seems they at least would not be averse to ABC dropping S.H.I.E.L.D.'s final season sooner rather than later. The first six seasons of S.H.I.E.L.D. are available streaming on Netflix, and Disney+ is packed with more Marvel Cinematic Universe content to keep anybody busy while social distancing continues and the coronavirus pandemic keeps TV productions from picking up again.

These ten options prove that all hope isn't lost for new material on TV even as the coronavirus shutdown continues, and they're by no means the only options for new content. Streaming services like Netflix have offerings already scheduled for release, and some of the biggest shows on broadcast TV haven't run out of episodes yet. The CW is pacing itself to keep to Arrow-verse going as long into 2020 as possible, and some shows that are finished have simply been pushed back for later this year, such as the latest Walking Dead spinoff.

TV fans lost a lot of great TV shows in 2019, as well as a lot of great TV characters, and because the cycle of entertainment life is never-ending, 2020 will deliver an equally sizable batch of series going away. From shows that had long-planned wrap-ups (such as Criminal Minds) to series whose endings were ordered up far more suddenly (such as Anne with an E), the list of soon-to-exit series is filled with stuff that fans will hate to say goodbye to.

What follows is a list of all the major TV shows that were either unceremoniously given the axe or had an exit plan already in place for 2020. Let us know in the comments which shows you'll miss the most.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC)

The lengthiest Marvel TV series to date, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is coming to an amicable and planned end at ABC with Season 7, giving fans hope that Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennett and the rest of the cast get to close this increasingly complex mythos out in satisfying ways.

When Will Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. End? The 13-episode Season 7 is set to premiere in mid-2020.

Anne With An E (Netflix)

Based on the beloved Anne of Green Gables novels by Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne with an E was cancelled by Netflix not long ahead of its January premiere, and though fans and the creator hold out hope for a movie to close things out, nothing has been reported just yet.

When Did Anne with an E End? Netflix premiered the third and final season on January 3.

Arrow (The CW)

The foundation of The CW's impressively expansive superhero universe, Arrow is bidding the world goodbye with its multiverse-crossing Season 8, allowing an emotional Stephen Amell and the rest of the cast to bow out with DC Comics swagger. Will the rest of the shows be able to last without the flagship hero Green Arrow?

When Will Arrow End? The series finale is set for Tuesday, January 28.

Blindspot (NBC)

After four somewhat ratings-troubled seasons, NBC's twisty tattoo-centered mystery Blindspot will close things out with a "celebratory" Season 5 that will hopefully answer everything that needs answering.

When Will Blindspot End? The fifth and final season is set to debut in mid-2020.

BoJack Horseman (Netflix)

Netflix's first original comedy, BoJack Horseman is going to the booze-soaked farm after six seasons of the most hilarious emotional trauma that tongue-twisting animated animals could deliver. (Not the most friendly parting though, considering the creator's post-parting thoughts.)

When Will BoJack Horseman End? The eight episodes comprising Season 6 Part 2 will debut on Friday, January 31.

Brockmire (IFC)

Hank Azaria's disgraced baseball announcer will get his redemption (or whatever the opposite of that is) when Brockmire concludes its fourth and final season, with its cancellation getting announced in December 2019, a few months ahead of the premiere.

When Will Brockmire End? IFC is set to premiere Season 4 in March 2020.

Claws (TNT)

Dwindling numbers were likely to blame for the cancellation of TNT's crime dramedy Claws, though its acclaim and its passionate fandom earned the show a fourth and final season to follow the cancellation.

When Will Claws End? No details have been revealed just about when Season 4 will drop on TNT.

Corporate (Comedy Central)

While never a ratings winner by most stretches of the imagination, Comedy Central's Corporate stands out as one of the network's most incisive comedies in recent years, and its third and final season will presumably leave cuts as sharp as South Park's strongest runs.

When Will Corporate End? No news yet about when Season 3 will arrive on Comedy Central.

Criminal Minds (CBS)

Though the show's audience wasn't the same after the Thomas Gibson debacle, Criminal Minds' status as a signature CBS drama can't be challenged as it goes into its 10-episode final season. (Which, interestingly enough, was filmed almost immediately following production on Season 14, given the in-advance notice given by CBS.)

When Will Criminal Minds End? CBS will premiere Season 15 on Wednesday, January 8.

Dark (Netflix)

One of Netflix's darkest series, appropriately enough, Dark had its fate sealed even before its second season premiered in 2019, with the streaming service choosing to end the German sci-fi thriller with Season 3.

When Will Dark End? Nothing has been revealed just yet for when Season 3 will debut, but later in 2020 is more likely, considering the year-and-a-half wait between the first two seasons.

Dear White People (Netflix)

Based on Justin Simien's film of the same name, the culturally sensitive comedy Dear White People was given a fourth season endgame by Netflix back in October, so fans can look forward to seeing how Logan Browning's Samantha White wraps her vocal and poignant arc.

When Will Dear White People End? While Netflix announced Season 4 will premiere in 2020, nothing more specific has been revealed as of this writing.

Empire (Fox)

At one point a ratings gargantuan, Fox's Empire made completely different kinds of headlines in 2019 thanks to the controversy surrounding former star Jussie Smollet, but it's back to down-and-dirty basics for the Lyon family as it heads to its presumably deadly conclusion.

When Will Empire End? Season 6 is set to return to Fox on Wednesday, January 21, though the finale's exact date is not yet known.

Fresh Off The Boat (ABC)

Even though Fresh Off the Boat made it to its sixth season, despite star Constance Wu's better wishes, ABC announced in November that the show would be ending in February after 15 episodes.

When Will Fresh Off the Boat End? The exact finale date for Season 6 hasn't been announced, but it returns from winter hiatus on January 17.

Fuller House (Netflix)

Netflix found a winner when ordering Full House with the generational continuation Fuller House, but all good-natured things must come to an end, and the Tanner-Fuller-Gibbler families will say goodbye in 2020. (Well, everyone but the Olsen twins' Michelle, anyway.)

When Will Fuller House End? The second half of Season 5 is set to premiere in 2020, but Netflix has yet to say exactly when.

Future Man (Hulu)

One of Hulu's biggest entries in the sci-fi realm, the comedy-driven Future Man put leads Josh Hutcherson and Eliza Coupe though a lot of mind-exploding time travel adventures across its first 26 episodes, and the streaming service announced back in April 2019 that Season 3 would be the final stretch for Future Man's future...man.

When Will Future Man End? Though Season 2 debuted on Hulu back in January 2019, there's no sign just yet when Season 3 will arrive.

GLOW (Netflix)

Across its first three seasons, Netflix's GLOW has delivered the kind of sisterhood that no other TV show could possibly match (beyond the vastly different '80s GLOW series), and fans will thankfully get a fourth season to watch Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin and the rest of the talented ensemble find joy in life, whether it be through wrestling fame or through bitching about Mark Maron's Sam.

When Will GLOW End? The Season 4 renewal came in September 2019, so it'll likely be later in 2020 when the show returns to Netflix.

Goliath (Amazon)

For Season 3, Billy Bob Thornton's crime drama Goliath brought an excellent crop of actors to its already excellent cast – including William Hurt, Beau Bridges, Amy Brenneman and Dennis Quaid – and Amazon followed that season up by ordering the show's fourth and final batch of episodes, which will likely tie up loose ends from previous years while working a new crime into Billy McBride's life.

When Will Goliath End? Amazon has yet to reveal any details about when Season 4 will be available to stream.

The Good Place (NBC)

After multiple afterlives' worth of forking brilliant comedy from Ted Danson, Kristen Bell and the rest of the heavenly cast, The Good Place will hang up its halo (and devil horns) following its fourth season, with creator Michael Schur previously setting a plan in place to end the show around the 50-episode mark.

When Will The Good Place End? The two-part Season 4 finale is set to air on NBC on Thursday, January 30.

Homeland (Showtime)

Claire Danes' Carrie and Mandy Patinkin's Saul have been through a multitude of hair-raising and politically charged situations across its first seven seasons, and it'll all come to a close with Season 8, though it probably won't be an easy ride for the duo, or anyone else for that matter.

When Will Season 8 End? After holding off from airing in 2019, Homeland will return to Showtime for its final season on February 9, 2020.

How To Get Away With Murder (ABC)

Despite maintaining acclaim and goodwill for star Viola Davis, How to Get Away with Murder has seen its audience droop pretty heavily over the years, and ABC decided to pull the plug on the crime drama in July 2019, two months after Season 6 was ordered.

When Will How to Get Away with Murder End? The first nine episodes of the sixth and final season have already aired, and ABC announced that Season 6 will debut on April 2 and will close out on May 14.

Lucifer (Netflix)

Despite being cancelled at Fox, the devilish drama Lucifer was rescued by Netflix for a fourth season and then rather quickly received its fifth and final season order; obviously getting the show back at all was a huge win for fans, but many think that Lucifer's heightened popularity on the streaming service should have been rewarded with more seasons. (Especially now that it's finally bringing God into the chaos.)

When Will Lucifer End? It's not quite clear when Lucifer will return to Netflix for Season 5, but we do know the season is being split into two groups of eight episodes, so fans will get a double dose in 2020.

Modern Family (ABC)

If ABC's Modern Family stayed on the air any longer, it would run the risk of having as many seasons as it does regular cast members, but the creators had other more natural instincts guiding the decision to wrap things up for the Pritchetts, the Dunphys and the Cam with Season 10.

When Will Modern Family End? ABC announced that Modern Family's final episode is set to air on Wednesday, April 8.

The 100 (The CW)

It's almost shocking to think that The 100 has been a mainstay at The CW for even longer than The Flash has been, but the youth-oriented adaptation of Kass Morgan's novel series has attracted a fanbase every bit as loyal as those of The CW's other genre offerings. Unfortunately, while no big reasons were given, The CW decided to make Season 7 the final one for Clark & Co., so expect creator Jason Rothenberg to pull out all the stops. 

When Will The 100 End? The CW hasn't yet announced a premiere or finale date for Season 6, but given The 100 has been a summer entry in recent years, it will almost definitely start up around April or May.

Power (Starz)

Though Power often made headlines because of executive producer and former star 50 Cent's (sometimes scripted) outbursts on social media, creator Courtney A. Kemp has consistently kept Power within the upper echelon on TV dramas, and those Ghost's story is closing out with Season 6, Starz is investing in the broader Power universe with spinoffs on the way.

When Will Power End? The sixth and final season will close out on Sunday, February 9.

The Rain (Netflix)

The Danish post-apocalyptic drama The Rain could probably find way to stretch its survival story out for many seasons, considering how long The Walking Dead is probably going to air, but Netflix decided that three seasons would be the perfect number for Simone, Rasmus and the rest to either find a cure or die trying.

When Will The Rain End? Netflix has yet to announce when Season 3 will debut.

The Ranch (Netflix)

The Ranch is one of those Netflix shows that doesn't inspire a ton of watercooler conversations, but still attracted big enough audiences that the streaming service kept it going for 80 episodes, thanks in part to the popularity of stars Ashton Kutcher, Sam Elliott and Elisha Cuthbert. After detouring around the Danny Masterson controversy, The Ranch set up more potentially deadly mysteries on the way to ending its fourth and final season.

When Will The Ranch End? The final batch of episodes will hit Netflix on Friday, January 24.

Schitt's Creek (Pop)

Similarly to how Breaking Bad and more really found their audiences once they debuted on Netflix, the Pop comedy Schitt's Creek won over viewers and the awards circuit with its silliness, its left-field heartfelt moments, and its perfectly cast quartet of Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Dan Levy and Annie Murphy. The father and son co-creators initially wanted to end Schitt's Creek with Season 5, but settled for one more year when Pop gave the show a two-season renewal after Season 4.

When Will Schitt's Creek End? Season 6 debuted on Pop on Tuesday, January 7, though the finale's date still hasn't been determined.

The Spanish Princess (Starz)

Starz continued its series adaptations of Phillipa Gregory's historical novels (following The White Queen and The White Princess) with The Spanish Princess, and in the middle of the first season's run, the network announced Catherine of Aragon's story would conclude with an eight-episode second season that will no doubt be as gorgeous as the first.

When Will The Spanish Princess End? Production on Season 2 started in September 2019, but Starz has yet to alert fans to a release window.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Disney+)

Like other shows on this list, The Clone Wars had already faced a cancellation in past years, and in this case received a fairly shocking renewal for a single wrap-up season at Disney+. Considering the Star Wars franchise has come a long way since Clone Wars originally ended in 2014, fans can't wait to see what Dave Filoni & Co. have in store for Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka and the rest.

When Will Star Wars: The Clone Wars End? Disney+ has yet to go public with a release date, but it'll likely start up in early spring.

Strike Back (Cinemax)

One of the core scripted series that Cinemax will be remembered for, the action-packed Strike Back was given an early renewal for its seventh and final season – its eighth season in the UK, where it airs on original commissioner Sky One – with Warren Brown and Daniel McPherson's Mac and Wyatt closing out Section 20's story for their third years in the roles. (Cinemax's Strike Back originally starred Sullivan Stapleton and Phillip Winchester.)

When Will Strike Back End? The seventh and final season will kick off on Cinemax on Friday, February 14.

Supernatural (The CW)

No one would have been surprised if Supernatural stayed on the air until well into the Winchester brothers' golden years, but Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are taking down their final monsters, religious icons, and more with Season 15; assuming, of course, that the Impala's door isn't left open for a follow-up adventure or two in the future, since The CW would almost definitely welcome everyone back for more.

When Will Supernatural End? The CW hasn't decided exactly when Season 15's finale will air, but the back half of the season will start up on Thursday, January 16.

13 Reasons Why (Netflix)

Based on the novel by Jay Asher, Netflix's 13 Reasons Why bounced between acclaim and controversy during its first three seasons – going so far as to edit out Hannah's suicide scene in Season 1 after facing a long span of complaints – and Netflix set Season 4 to be the last hurrah weeks before Season 3 debuted in August 2019.

When Will 13 Reasons Why End? Netflix has yet to announce when Season 4 will debut, but fans should expect it to arrive closer to the end of the year.

Tin Star (Amazon)

Tim Roth's Amazon series Tin Star (which is technically an import from the UK's Sky Atlantic) is one that not enough people talk about, but there's still a chance for bigger audiences to get invested by the time the mountain-town crime drama debuts its third and final season.

When Will Tin Star End? No details have been given yet for when Season 3 will hit either Sky Atlantic or Amazon.

Trinkets (Netflix)

One of the few youth-skewing projects to get a noteworthy cancellation, the teen drama Trinkets was out there in the world for right around a month and a half before Netflix issued the cancellation notice, which thankfully came with an order Season 2, giving co-creator Kristen "Kiwi" Smith (who also wrote the novel) ten more episodes to wrap up Elodie, Moe and Tabitha's stories.

When Will Trinkets End? Netflix has yet to announce any specific release news for Season 2.

Van Helsing (Syfy)

Here's hoping Kelly Overton's Vanessa Van Helsing kills off every last vampire in the known universe, because Van Helsing is giving its vocal (if not gigantic) fanbase one more season before putting itself on the stake.

When Will Van Helsing End? The fifth and final season is set to go into production in early 2020, with a premiere coming to Syfy at a currently unspecified date.

Vikings (History)

Now in its sixth and final season, Vikings has meshed emotional narratives with historical influences as well as any show before it, and has kept audiences enthralled thanks to the efforts of creator Michael Hirst and a cast currently led by the stellar Katheryn Winnick and Alexander Ludwig. Its split-in-half final season should keep those same audiences going throughout the year, all in anticipation for Hirst's Netflix spinoff.

When Will Vikings End? Season 6 is currently airing its first ten episodes, with the second batch of ten set to air on History later in 2020.

Will & Grace (NBC)

After three seasons back on the air thanks to NBC's later-stage revival, Will & Grace is coming to its second ending at NBC in 2020, though not before its 18-episode final season gives the characters what will undoubtedly be a different resolution than the retconned first finale. (R.I.P. Shelley Morrison and Rosario.)

When Does Will & Grace End? Though the latest season was initially meant to slotted for the midseason, it debuted in October and is set to return on Thursday, January 9.

You Me Her (Audience Network)

The polyamorous trio at the center of the romantic dramedy You Me Her – Greg Poehler, Rachel Blanchard, and Priscilla Faia – are heading for the final stretch with Season 5, which was initially doubled up with the Season 4 order back in 2018, with Audience Network deciding to pull the plug in the middle of the fourth season's run.

When Will You Me Her End? No specific date has been revealed just yet, but past seasons have all released in the late winter or early spring.

Caution: Spoilers for the Season 4 finale of Blindspot are disclosed below

As Blindspot Season 4 wound down, Jane and company were framed and subsequently forged into fugitives. Blindspot was not done dishing out shocking twists and turns. The drama ended its fourth season with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger. Jane was outside when the cabin she, Weller, Patterson, Reade, and Zapata were staying in exploded.

The culprit being a drone attack from the team’s nemesis, Madeline Burke. To say the life and death twist is heartrending would be an understatement. The horrifying cliffhanger undoubtedly has fans anxious for the final season. How will Season 5 get started? Blindspot creator Martin Gero told ET:

Instead of diving back into the story directly after the explosion, Blindspot is going to make a two-month time jump. That is not an extraordinarily massive leap. Rather, one that allows for a bit of the dust to have settled. It should also allow the surviving parties who may be injured a chance to have recovered.

Expect the team members that survive the explosion to be closer than ever in Blindspot’s final season. After a lot of back and forth, it turns out that the adversity of the dire twist will end up uniting them. Something to contemplate over summer as fans await the series’ return.

In ending Season 4 in this way, Blindspot has left Madeline as an ongoing opponent for the series’ final bow. Why did the show decide to let her have a victory in the penultimate finale? Blindspot’s creator Martin Gero told TVLine:

Do not expect Jane and whoever survives the explosion to get back to their new normal any time soon. That will be for the entire fifth season to work out. NBC announced that it will be the show's last. Blindspot will be doing things a little differently as it heads into its final installment. A move that should shake things up.

What is the goal of Blindspot’s final season? With its central characters on the run and trying to clear their names, there is no shortage of action set to take place. On an emotional level, what is the series' creator hoping to accomplish? Martin Gero told ET:

I think that the plan he has outlined is both ambitious and lovely. Celebrating the characters and focusing on telling a long goodbye should lead to a strong ending chapter for fans. He certainly has his heart in the right place, in my opinion. Blindspot’s creator also promises a “really exciting” grand finale for the crime drama, which has welcomed Bill Nye during its run.

Getting to a finale that fans approve of can be a tricky task. Just ask Game of Thrones fans as the final season turned divisive. There have been shows that went out with what was seemingly a well-liked finale from fans -- including The Big Bang Theory. Time will tell how fans react to Blindspot’s.

After surviving a scheduling change and cancellation concerns, the drama will be back for Season 5. Blindspot will return for its final season during the 2019-2020 midseason on NBC.

For non-insiders of the television world, all the major networks are taking this week to show off their upcoming schedules to ad agencies, meaning execs have been manically cancelling and renewing shows left and right. Last week delivered a particularly brutal bloodbath for axed projects, and the days since haven't been much better for the shows that were left hanging by a thread.

Here, we've rounded up the remainder of all the big network cancellations that dropped in recent days. Fans have hardly had any time at all to mourn these shows, considering the networks have been releasing trailers for all of their new fall and midseason premieres. So let's take a look at all the other shows that disappointingly got cancelled during May sweeps.

Murphy Brown (CBS) - Cancelled After Season 1

One of the most high-profile TV revivals of the 2018-2019 season, Candice Bergen’s Murphy Brown immediately made it clear that it was embracing bipartisan politics in a different way from fellow revivals like Will & Grace and Roseanne (later The Conners). Murphy Brown did okay in the ratings upon debuting, but soon settled into its on-the-bubble rhythm, where it remained. Had critics been wholeheartedly behind it, CBS might have kept it going, but that wasn’t really the case.

Star (Fox) - Cancelled After Season 3

Perhaps the biggest surprise on this list is Lee Daniels’ Star, which lasted for a full three wild and tension-filled seasons on Fox, with Queen Latifah as one of its biggest hooks. Like Empire, Star focused on the darker side of reaching pop-star status in the music biz, and the drama pulled in some impressive numbers in its first two seasons. Unfortunately, the Disney/Fox deal changed a lot of things behind the scenes at Fox, and Star’s drooping demo rating in Season 3 likely sealed its fate.

Happy Together (CBS) - Cancelled After Season 1

Following ensemble-driven runs on Happy Endings and New Girl, Damon Wayans Jr. struck out for a smaller cast of characters in CBS’ Happy Together, which also starred Greek vet Amber Stevens West. Critics weren’t overly impressed with Happy Together, and while the show’s weekly audience was consistent – usually around 4.5 million viewers and a 0.8 demo rating – it wasn’t enough to convince CBS execs to keep it around for Season 2.

Whiskey Cavalier (ABC) - Cancelled After Season 1

A show that seemingly had all the right pieces, Whiskey Cavalier boasted Scandal’s Scott Foley, The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan, and a creative team of writers/producers from Scrubs, Don’t Trust the B, and Key & Peele, among other shows. Whiskey Cavalier started off on the right foot, ratings-wise, but its clever writing, flirtatious characters, and global setting found fewer fans checking in each week, with its most recent episodes bringing in under 3 million viewers. Not all hope is lost, as the producers are shopping it around to find a new home for Season 2.

Presumed Innocent (Fox) - Cancelled After Season 1

Fox didn’t put much of an advertising campaign behind the legal drama Proven Innocent, led by Under the Dome vet Rachelle Lefevre and co-starring TV legend Kelsey Grammer. Which is strange, considering it was a show about wrongful convictions, a concept that took the nation by storm when Serial and Making a Murderer were atop the pop culture zeitgeist. Not a lot of people tuned in during its single-season run, which wrapped up on May 10, and not even a decent DVR percentage numbers could save it from the axe.

Fam (CBS) - Cancelled After Season 1

After years of being fang-deep in vampire romance on The Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev purposefully went against type for CBS’s multi camera sitcom Fam, in which she and Tone Bell became the sorta-guardians of a 16-year-old high school dropout. But in a comedic format, of course. Fam took over Murphy Brown’s time slot when its first season concluded, but ended the season with a demographic lower than a 1.0, and fewer than 5 million viewers tuning in per episode. Not the kind of numbers expected of a CBS comedy meant to be renewed.

Life in Pieces (CBS) - Cancelled After Season 4

Life in Pieces offered viewers the unique experience of digging into four different capsulized stories following different members of the expansive Short family. Combined with a winning cast of actors that includes Colin Hanks and Betsy Brandt (not to mention Veep’s Dan Bakkedahl), Life in Pieces was a winner with CBS audiences. It just appears as if the audiences just weren’t big enough in the end, and the show was cancelled in the middle of its fourth season, with episodes still left to air.

Empire (Fox) - Ending After Season 6

Despite its highly lethal plotlines, Empire might have lasted another decade or so on Fox had it not been for the Jussie Smollett controversy at the beginning of the year. The star’s allegedly falsified attack took over news cycles for weeks during the show’s Season 5 hiatus, the narrative mostly eclipsed by real life. The creative team likely could have kept things going for however many more years, but Fox made the decision to bring Empire to a close after its upcoming sixth season. That’ll take Empire over 100 episodes, helping its syndication efforts, but who knows if the characters will live through it all?

Blindspot (NBC) - Ending After Season 5

After debuting as one of the most mystery-soaked dramas out there, and boasting a winning lead duo in Jaimie Alexander and Sullivan Stapleton, Blindspot lost a lot of its momentum with audiences. Season 4’s Friday-night audience has been particularly low, rarely topping out above 3 million, and its recent 0.4 demo rating hasn’t helped. Considering the show has been on the bubble for a couple of seasons now, fans should count blessings that NBC decided to give Blindspot one more batch of episodes to close the story out properly.

It appears as the latest round of devastating cancellations is over for now, although no one should ever feel too safe. While waiting to see what ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox will be doing next, don't forget to take note of what their summer offerings will be this year, including the highly anticipated return of America's Got Talent.

As network TV goes into the May sweeps period that remains an important aspect for many shows' potential futures, NBC is making some adjustments with its Friday night lineup that may hint at an impending cancellation for Blindspot. The twisty drama has been pulled from the schedule for at least the next month, with the equally twisty drama The Blacklist getting its time slot shifted up to 8:00 p.m. ET.

Before doing any speculating, here's exactly how NBC is flipping Blindspot and The Blacklist around. The two-episode Blacklist block on April 26 is the first night of Blindspot's spring hiatus. On both May 3 and May 10, The Blacklist will air in the earliest slot, while Dateline will get a pair of two-hour broadcasts on those nights. Friday, May 17, will mark The Blacklist's Season 6 finale, which is sure to drop some plot bombshells.

The next week is when Blindspot will return to NBC's lineup, on May 24. Don't get too comfortable, though, because NBC is pairing the drama's final two episodes together on May 31 to close out Season 4 ahead of the summer schedule.

So what does this say for Blindspot's chances of getting cancelled or renewed? It depends on how one looks at it, of course. The doomsday version is that NBC is trying to burn off Blindspot's remaining episodes while giving the more popular Blacklist a prominent placement during May sweeps. (Blindspot doesn't fall into the month-ish-long sweeps window at all.)

It doesn't take speculation to know that Blindspot is currently ranking on the bottom of NBC's drama slate, with a demo rating of 0.5 with adults 18-49. That's as bad as it gets for shows on the Big 4, and its average viewership is less than 3 million viewers an episode. Only NBC's Good Girls has a smaller audience, though its holding on to a slight lead in the demo ratings.

Speaking of Good Girls, let's now flip to the optimistic take on Blindspot's future. The Retta-starring drama has already locked up a Season 3 renewal from NBC, despite its relatively low viewership. So if Blindspot can manage to bring in a slightly bigger (and younger-skewing) audience with its final three episodes, it stands a chance of getting renewed for Season 5.

Also, considering NBC is already aware of where Blindspot stands in the numbers, the higher-ups might just want to give Blacklist more time to shine knowing that Blindspot's core fanbase is going stick around anyway. I guess that's not the the most positive spin on it, but anything that ends in Season 5 is a win all around.

As far as plot-related things go, Blindspot is apparently going to deliver a finale that will "reinvent the show," according to creator Martin Gero. He says the episode will take a hairpin turn and will end with a twist that sets up the kind of narrative that couldn't be done on Blindspot before.

As such, it would be extremely disappointing for everyone involved to get any cancellation news from NBC. As he put it to TVLine, it would be a "very bad series finale" due to the way it shifts things around. However, he believes that the network will make the right call in Blindspot's favor.

That's exactly what fans want to hear, although it would be nice if NBC would officially agree with him.

For what it's worth, The Blacklist isn't doing so much better than Blindspot when it comes to the demo ratings. In its Friday shift for Season 6, The Blacklist has regularly brought in a 0.6, but has dipped to a 0.5 often enough, even though it was doing much better on Wednesday nights. It's hard to know what NBC will do with either drama for the future, but stay tuned to CinemaBlend to find out.

Blindspot will return to NBC on Friday, May 24, at 8:00 p.m. ET.

With each fall TV season, viewers get a variety of promising new series and an even bigger variety of returning hits, though not everything is built to last for the long haul. Even though linear TV viewing is in decline overall, this season has seen quite a few shows breaking the mold, such as NBC standout Manifest and Fox's pickup Last Man Standing. Unfortunately, some shows have much less to celebrate than others.

While no networks have started to pull the plugs on their fall content just yet, we can probably expect to see at least one axe drop before the holidays arrive, with more to come in the new year. For now, here are the nine broadcast TV shows that have the lowest chances of surviving into the 2019-2020 TV season.

The Gifted - Fox

After Fox introduced the non-Batman world of Gotham to welcoming viewers, the network thought it could find similar success with the X-Men-free world of The Gifted. Somewhat surprisingly, though, audiences just haven't been as rabid about a small-screen fight between mutants and humans, despite The Gifted's talented cast and interesting array of comic book heroes and villains. Perhaps because legal issues necessarily hinder the heroes and villains that can be used.

In that vein, it was perhaps optimism for potential X-Men arrivals that kept fans tuned in for Season 1, because viewership has dipped even lower. The Season 2 premiere audience was smaller than every Season 1 episode save for one, and with a demo rating that hovers around the 0.7 mark, it will take a host of powers to save The Gifted from being taken out of the picture on Fox as the new year kicks off.

Blindspot - NBC

Like many dramas before it, Blindspot built its buzz upon a mysterious hook that wasn't necessarily enough to keep viewers regularly tuning in on a year-to-year basis. Of course, the twisty tattoo-driven drama has managed to make it to four seasons, which is more than any other show on this list can claim to have reached by now.

It's Blindspot's second year of airing on Friday nights, which usually means the end is nigh for any show. Season 3's numbers didn't drop so dramatically after the initial time slot swap, but Season 4 has seen a steady down-tick in the stats since its premiere, bringing in less than 3 million viewers an episode. The 0.4 demo ratings definitely don't help, either, so fans should hope for Jaimie Alexander's Jane Doe to have a few miracles up her (tat) sleeve.

Murphy Brown - CBS

Former TV hits Will & Grace and Roseanne made splashes with their updated revivals, so CBS thought it wise to give Murphy Brown another crack at adding political commentary to the primetime lineup. Of course, real-world politics has already been a major talking point across all of television in recent years, watering down Murphy's most pointed jabs and normalizing the once-refreshing sitcom.

Its numbers on CBS are still respectable, although in six episodes, its live audience has dipped from 7.5 million to 5.9 million, and its key demo rating has dipped from a 1.1 to a 0.8. So it's not being thrown into its grave just yet, but _Murphy _Brown's figures are declining in the now all-important delayed viewing numbers, too, and it's failed to get a full-season pickup from CBS so far. Had critics not largely panned and dismissed it upon its return, we might be talking about it in a more positive light.

Speechless - ABC

As a part of ABC's diversity-embracing comedy lineup, the Minnie Driver-starring Speechless found a winning hook as a family comedy in which one member has cerebral palsy. Its first season was a big hit with critics and audiences, and while nothing necessarily changed in any big ways, the attention started to wane in Season 2.

Unfortunately, things got even worse in Season 3, though the most recent declines in viewership and ratings were to be expected. ABC slotted Speechless into its newly reformed TGIF lineup, which meant that the show was sacrificing its mid-week viewers for a Friday night audience. Such time slots are generally TV graveyards, minus exceptions like former ABC sitcom Last Man Standing, and Speechless is currently ABC's lowest-rated scripted show, period.

REL - Fox

Comedian Lil Rel Howery made waves among mainstream audiences on the NBC sitcom The Carmichael Show and in the critically lauded horror Get Out. Unfortunately, his self-starring Fox sitcom REL likely won't be one his fans will be dying to hear about years from now. Though the freshman comedy probably wowed producers with its premiere totals -- 5.49 million viewers, 1.9 demo rating -- those stats were buoyed by a post-NFL time slot.

By the next week, when it was pushed back 90 minutes to a post-Family Guy slot, its numbers dipped to 1.99 million viewers, with a 0.8 demo rating, and they haven't risen above that since. Considering its Live+3 delayed viewing numbers are no longer taking the demo above a 1.0, REL's place in Fox's busy schedule is likely temporary.

Happy Together - CBS

Any time a new CBS comedy debuts, all eyes are on it to see how well it compares to the network's current and past hits. The comparison isn't so stellar for Happy Together, starring Damon Wayans Jr. and Amber Stevens West. The show features a fairly wacky plot where a young pop star (played by Felix Mallard) moves in with his older accountant (naturally) and the show plays off of the generation gap between the characters.

Happy Together can boast that its numbers staying pretty consistent over the first half of its freshman season, but those numbers aren't exactly high enough for the consistency to wow studio heads. (Each episode after the premiere has been watched by fewer than 5 million people.) CBS does own Happy Together, which helps its future chances, but the network has yet to order any remaining episodes for the season, which is as good as a death knell these days.

I Feel Bad - NBC

Ahead of its premiere, the biggest thing that NBC's comedy I Feel Bad had going for it was Amy Poehler as an executive producer. Starring No Tomorrow's Sarayu Rao as the family-oriented character who takes on the titular emotion, I Feel Bad is based on Orly Auslander's book of the same name, though it got far more negative critical reviews than the source material. This isn't a show where bad press equal good numbers, either.

Its doubled-up Wednesday sneak peek fared promisingly enough without a new Criminal Minds airing, but the viewership dropped somewhat sharply between just those two same-night airings, from 5.72 million to 3.98 million. Since then, it's only gotten worse, with episode viewerships topping around around 2.2 million, with around a 0.5 demo rating. Unless something changes quickly, I Feel Bad will start feeling a lot worse.

Lethal Weapon - Fox

By most accounts, Lethal Weapon wasn't guaranteed to make it into Season 3 after the cast-flipping kerfuffle that surrounded former star Clayne Crawford. But it did, with new lead Seann William Scott serving as a new partner for Damon Wayans' belabored Murtaugh. Not too long after, Wayans declared he was stepping away from the show as a lead, citing long production schedules being hard on his body.

With cast troubles come ratings dips, and even though Season 3's premiere got bigger numbers than the chaotic Season 2 finale, the numbers have dropped since. (The Nov. 6 episode showed a slight uptick, but that can presumably be tied to Fox being the only broadcast network airing new eps on Election Day.) Can Scott's Cole save the day, or is everyone getting too old for this shit?

Midnight, Texas - NBC

It's almost strange that we're only just now a few episodes into Midnight, Texas Season 2, considering Season 1 ended last September. Perhaps the second season's delay played a part in the supernatural drama's declined ratings for these early episodes, which fall short of those from the previous year. Of course, it could be the fact that NBC shifted Midnight, Texas from Wednesdays to Fridays. (There's a pattern here.)

Midnight, Texas does have a fairly passionate fanbase, even if it's not the biggest in network TV, and its viewership has been consistent in these early installments. But while those elements may be all-around good news for NBC's witches and vampires hoping for another season, they don't change the fact that Midnight, Texas is currently NBC's lowest-rated drama, earning around a 0.4 demo rating each week.

It's that renewal/cancellation time of year again on the small screen, and viewers have no choice except to wait for news of whether or not their favorite shows will score renewals to return in the future. Fox just axed a number of its shows, but NBC has some very good news for fans of two of its shows. World of Dance and Blindspot will both be back on the Peacock Network for at least one more season. Here's what we know.

Both renewals come as surprises, although for very different reasons. World of Dance was a huge hit when it premiered on NBC, and it ultimately ranked as one of the most-watched TV shows of last summer. It therefore was not exactly a shock when NBC renewed World of Dance for Season 2 after only five episodes had aired. What is somewhat shocking is how early World of Dance has been renewed for Season 3.

Season 2 of World of Dance doesn't premiere until Tuesday, May 29, alongside Season 13 of America's Got Talent. NBC is undoubtedly counting on at least a large chunk of the show's Season 1 audience returning for Season 2. Given that it was the most-watched new summer alternative series in 10 years when it premiered and summer primetime lineups tend to be short on exciting content, the odds are pretty good that World of Dance can continue to perform well in the next two seasons.

The show has a premise that probably won't get old any time soon. World of Dance gives talented dancers the chance to show off their skills in front of a judging panel comprised of legendary dancers Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough of Dancing with the Stars fame, and NE-YO as well as mentor/host Jenna Dewan. With $1 million up for grabs, the stakes are quite high. The second show to get a renewal is a surprise for a different reason.

Blindspot had a spot on our list of big network shows in danger of being cancelled (some of which have already gotten the axe from their networks), and the odds weren't looking too great for the Jaimie Alexander-starring drama to last beyond Season 3. The series started out to massive ratings, but the numbers began to peter out as the seasons passed. The show was moved to Friday nights for Season 3, which is never a good sign.

In many cases, the Friday night slot is where network shows go to die, and TVLine reports Blindspot only averaged a grand total of 3.5 million viewers and a disappointing 0.7 in the key 18-49 age demographic. That said, Blindspot has been consistent, and that may be what gave NBC the faith to keep it on the airwaves. There's no news at this point as to whether Blindspot will move to a different time slot for Season 4, but my money is on it sticking where it is. Just because Fridays didn't prove so safe for Taken doesn't mean Blindspot can't find a home there in the long run.

The 2017-2018 TV season is winding down, which means the time has come for viewers to start worrying about their favorite shows' chances for renewal. Fans of series like The Big Bang Theory and This Is Us haven't had cause for concern, but fans of other series aren't quite so lucky. A number of shows have already gotten the axe this season, and we can be sure that there are many more to come. So, without further ado, read on for a rundown of shows in serious danger of cancellation!

The Last Man on Earth - Fox

To say that no other show on TV is like The Last Man on Earth is to understate things, though we're kind of glad that there is only one Tandy Miller in primetime. In any case, not enough people are watching Will Forte & Co.'s offbeat approach to post-apocalyptic relationships and hair, despite the stellar ensemble and the delightful mix of morbid humor and quirky mysteries. Season 4 has dipped to the lowest numbers yet, and it's getting harder than ever for Fox to justify renewing the silliness for another year. And knowing how the show likes to go out, we shouldn't expect the finale to wrap things up neatly.

Blindspot - NBC

When Blindspot first hit NBC, its tattoo-covered central mystery won over audiences, and it was one of the more popular new dramas that year. Two seasons later, many of those initial viewers have left the series behind, and its totals aren't the kind that generally draw massive renewal interest from networks. No episodes in Season 3 have earned higher than a 0.9 key demo rating, which is never a good sign, and the most recent episode hit a series-low 2.93 million people in Live+Same Day numbers. With just a few episodes left in Season 3, Blindspot would need to bring in a shocking number of new and returning viewers to have a good shot at Season 4.

Champions - NBC

NBC's Champions serves as Mindy Kaling's first TV creation after The Mindy Project, and the first network leading role for Workaholics vet Anders Holm. It's a sweet and amusing family comedy that seens Holm as a gym owner suddenly taking on the duties of fathering a 15-year-old gay teenager, as excellently portrayed by newcomer J.J. Totah. But for all the goodwill and good press Champions has gotten since premiering in March, it hasn't really maintained the relatively small audience that showed up for the premiere. (2.70 million viewers, compared to the most recent episode's 1.68 million viewers.) So while it could possibly sneak its way into a Season 2 renewal, its chances aren't Champions-able.

9JKL - CBS

Starring Mark Feuerstein, and partially based on his own life, CBS' sitcom 9JKL started its existence getting railed on for its uncatchy name, and then it became one of the worst-reviewed new shows of the fall season. Thankfully for all involved on the show, the audience turned up at first, and after its large early dip, 9JKL settled some fairly consistent viewership totals. However, its totals didn't stick up anywhere close to those of other popular CBS comedies, and the network never ended up ordering a full 22-episode season, holding 9JKL's first season run to just 16 episodes. The overwhelming silence over the show's fate since then is as good a sign as any that it's done for.

The Brave - NBC

TV was all about military dramas in 2017, and while CBS' David Boreanaz-starring Seal Team already earned itself a second season, NBC's The Brave is far less likely to experience the same fortune. Had The Brave managed to maintain its audience totals, which were largely in the 4-5 million range, it might have lasted a little longer. But those numbers dipped below 3 million people at one point later in the season, and NBC never ended up ordering up more than the 13 episodes that the network first asked for. Perhaps NBC chose the 13-episode lineup to keep things cheaper, though, and Mike Vogel & Co. might brave the long hiatus on the way to a second season. But...probably not.

Ghosted - Fox

On paper, The Office's Craig Robinson and Parks and Rec's Adam Scott would make for a stellar comedic duo. And it actually holds true in live-action as well, as seen on Fox's supernatural comedy Ghosted. Unfortunately, the show around them hasn't stood quite as tall in viewers' minds, and Ghosted got yanked from Fox's schedule after nine installments, with a sole episode airing in January following the winter hiatus, which came after Fox had ordered more episodes. And it was the most-watched of the bunch, too, though 3.89 million people wasn't enough to convince Fox to stick with it. The remaining episodes have yet to get any kind of airdate, and I don't imagine it stands a ghost of a chance for a second season.

Great News - NBC

Considering what this list is, there are too many jokes to make about this show's name, but this is no joking matter for fans. After premiering on a platform of Tina Fey being an executive producer, Great News did a decent job of winning over audiences with its silly and star-studded look at the world of TV news. And its second season also brought in an impressive number of viewers. Unfortunately, both the first and second season took little time in taking a ratings dive, and its January finale brought in just 2.15 million people. When more people are watching the actual news than your primetime show about the news, it's probably a bad omen.

For The People - ABC

TV's latest primetime legal drama debuted back in March on ABC with For the People. In some ways, For the People had an recipe for success. Legal dramas can be big hits, and Shonda Rhimes was on board as an executive producer for an ABC project. ABC has every reason to have great faith in Shonda Rhimes thanks to shows like Grey's Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, and the recently-ended Scandal. Unfortunately, For the People hasn't established itself as must-see TV, and ABC doesn't necessarily have the motivation to keep it going. Maybe if it was set in the same universe as one of Rhimes' other shows, but as things stand, we shouldn't count on more For The People.

Kevin (Probably) Saves the World - ABC

Actor Jason Ritter seemingly always has a TV show going, and ABC's Kevin (Probably) Saves the World could have been his latest big hit. Unfortunately, the new project from Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters had less of a prayer than Kevin himself, and it's looking like its 16-episode first season will be the only one. One of two new network comedies tethered to religious topics -- the other, Living Biblically, was cancelled before it could make this list -- Kevin (Probably) Saves the World only reached a 1.0 demo rating with its season premiere, and at one point near the end of its run, just 1.55 million people were watching the live airing. We'll see Jason Ritter elsewhere soon.

Taken - NBC

Turning hit movies into TV shows definitely isn't a new process, but instead of an outright reboot, NBC's Taken took the prequel route and looked back into Bryan Mills' past. Taken didn't win audiences or critics over in Season 1, but it still earned a renewal, and a trip to the Friday night lineup. Season 2 overhauled much of the story and characters, and audiences apparently haven't turned out in droves to follow along. NBC pulled Taken from the schedule, with the remaining episodes set to air on Saturdays starting in late May. If there are clearer signs of an impending cancellation, not even Bryan Mills could track them down.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Fox

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been eking along for years now without solid enough numbers to guarantee a renewal. What Brooklyn Nine-Nine has in its favor is that it can boast such a killer cast that it's practically crime that nobody has won an Emmy yet. Also, a renewal would push the show into its sixth season, and Fox may want a live-action sitcom with some history to it once New Girl comes to an end. That said, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has already hit the magic 100 episode number that could lead to long-term syndication, and Fox may not see much of a reason to keep the show going much longer. But surely the show can't end right after Jake and Amy's wedding, right?

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. - ABC

It's no secret that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been on the chopping block at ABC in the past, and Disney reportedly stepped in to stop ABC from cancelling S.H.I.E.L.D. after Season 4 failed to hold on to a sizable audience. Its move to the "Friday night death slot" for Season 5 seemed to indicate that the end was night for the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, and the cancellation of its lead-in Once Upon a Time doesn't exactly bode well. Still, S.H.I.E.L.D. is the final live-action Marvel series on one of the major broadcast networks after Inhumans flopped. Its connection to the larger MCU may be enough to save it again, but we shouldn't count on a Season 6 at this point.

The X-Files - Fox

The first revival season of The X-Files was a huge hit in the ratings for Fox, and the cliffhanger ending meant that there would be a lot of furious fans if the show didn't return for Season 11. Well, fans got their Season 11, but the ratings weren't on the level with those for the first season, and the last episode was just about the most WTF finale ever. It also ended on a definitive enough note that Fox has some good reasons to give the show the axe for the second time. Throw in the fact that leading lady Gillian Anderson has said she's done, and The X-Files is a pretty safe bet for cancellation.

The Exorcist - Fox

No, The Exorcist has not already been cancelled. The TV take on the famous horror movie of the same name isn't exactly the most well-known show ever to hit primetime, and both seasons have aired in a Friday night death slot. Even the showrunner has said that he's not convinced that The Exorcist will score a renewal for Season 3 in the wake of the landmark Fox/Disney merger. The good news is that Fox may not have anything else it wants to move into the unenviable Friday night slot; the bad news is that The Exorcist didn't win the ratings that could guarantee a future on the network. Anything can really happen with this one.

In its ever-growing quest to remain a series on television, Blindspot has transformed a lot over its run. Since its premiere, the show has gone from the series that featured headshots on primetime weeknights to the show that is bringing in Bill Nye for a weird plot twist. Nye will enter the series to play himself, but will also play Patterson's father.

That's right, Patterson's papa is none other than the host of Bill Nye The Science Guy! Anyone who may have assumed Patterson's inherent geekiness and keen mind came from her parents were absolutely correct, as the show will soon feature Nye as the character's father. Nye's presence on the show will be short-lived, as he's appearing as a guest-star-- but at least he'll get a chance to see his daughter, and maybe even analyze one of Jane's tattoos.

Blindspot fans may be scratching their heads right now, and they're right to do so. As cool as it is that this series had the guts to introduce a real-life celebrity scientist to play himself on an NBC drama, why hasn't this plot point come up sooner? Wouldn't someone have managed to dig up this previously unrevealed information on Patterson when she was in the FBI, or better yet, wouldn't she eventually tell someone that Bill Nye is her father? What about the last name? Are we to assume Patterson is actually her first name, and her full name is Patterson Nye?

Surely, Blindspot will answer all those questions, and while it might be super goofy to have Bill Nye on the series, its great publicity for the Friday night show. Its also great exposure for Nye, as the science enthusiast has more acting credits than one may assume. Nye has appeared on quite a few television shows outside of his own products such as Stargate: Atlantis, The Big Bang Theory, Numb3rs, and Inside Amy Schumer. Patterson actress Ashley Johnson is seemingly jazzed about his appearance regardless of his accolades as the two did a cute little sketch to promote Nye's upcoming role:

Wow. Let's just hope Ashley Johnson and Bill Nye's banter is a bit better on Blindspot and that jokes like the one told above are kept to a minimum. Of course, given Patterson's character, there's bound to be some type of goofiness like that to go down between the two when they play father and daughter on-screen. Provided it's more outlandish and fun science experiments and less cornball tech jokes, it should be a great time for all who watch.

In less than one week, moviegoers will be heading to the movie theater to see Thor: Ragnarok, and catch up with Thor, Loki, Hulk, and a bunch of new faces. One face viewers won't be seeing though is Lady Sif, who is sitting this one out after appearing in both of the previous Thor movies. It's been a small subject of mystery as to why this is, but both Marvel and actress Jaimie Alexander have remained tight-lipped about it...until now. Turns out there's no deep reason for Sif's absence other than scheduling conflicts, according to Alexander.

In addition to appearing as the Asgardian warrior Lady Sif, Jaimie Alexander also stars in a television thriller on NBC called Blindspot. TV schedules are notoriously grueling, and it sounds like Blindspot conflicted with a role in Thor: Ragnarok. Alexander told Yahoo! that Marvel did reach out to her about appearing in the movie, but filming for the superhero sequel directly conflicted with her TV show. So, Alexander just wasn't able to do it. Something tells me that Lady Sif didn't have a very big part anyway, so perhaps Alexander didn't miss out on much.

Further complicating things was the fact that Thor: Ragnarok was filming on an entirely different continent than Blindspot. Ragnarok filmed in Australia, meaning that even if Alexander was able to squeeze in time for the blockbuster, she'd never be able to make it halfway across the world in time -- at least not on the short notice Marvel gave her.

While Jaimie Alexander had to sit this one out, there's always the consolidation that Lady Sif probably isn't dead, which means that there's always Thor 4 (which Alexander said she'd be more than happy to do)! While some may be disappointed with the lack of Sif, it isn't like there is already a riches of talent in the movie. The movie is getting near universal praise, with several critics highlighting the performances of Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, and Chris Hemsworth.

Thor: Ragnarok is landing in theaters in less than one week on November 3, so make sure to pre-order your tickets if you have not already done so! Until then, keep up to date with our comprehensive guide.

While The Voice's cemented timeslots don't offer much change, except for its new talent, Monday nights will feature the big new drama The Brave, in which Anne Heche will lead a team of analysts working with special ops agents around the world to save innocent citizens from global troubles. The only other big new show you'll notice is hitting on Thursday nights, and it's the latest Dick Wolf-produced Law & Order spinoff, with this one latching onto the true crime phenomenon that has taken over, and you can bet NBC hopes it gets the same kind of attention that The People v. O.J. Simpson did.

As far as schedule shifts go, everyone will need their tissue shipments to come in on Thursday mornings now, instead of Tuesday mornings, with This Is Us jumping forward two days. Blacklist fans will need to make room on Wednesday nights now, since the twisty drama will bring Season 5 to lead off the highly popular Wednesday night lineup. (Menendez Murders is filling that Thursday night spot.) Those nostalgic for Must See TV's heyday will be pumped to see Will & Grace's revival back in the Thursday lineup. Friday nights got a little more interesting, with Blindspot breaking out as a lead-in for the second season of the film-to-TV adaptation Taken.

A UFC superstar is hoping to kick some ass in something outside of, uh, kicking ass. Ronda Rousey is stepping out of the Octagon and onto network television for what is sure to be a headline event. The 30-year-old former UFC champion has indicated she'd like to further get into acting and is now being given a big shot thanks to NBC, where Rousey has been booked to appear on an upcoming episode of the network's crime drama Blindspot.

For Blindspot, Ronda Rousey will play the role of Devon Penberthy, a prison inmate from a working class family in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The description provided by The Wrap seems oddly specific, so I'm guessing it's all relevant to Rousey's character. Penberthy is tough as nails and is (you're not going to believe this) a talented fighter; she is serving time for transporting weapons across state lines, so it's unknown if Rousey's character will be an asset or enemy in her appearance. The episode of Blindspot is set to air sometime in May, so we'll find out then.

This will not be Ronda Rousey's first time on television, even outside of UFC pay-per-views. The fighter did a live skit with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson during Wrestlemania 31, hosted SNL at one point, and she had a guest role on Comedy Central's Drunk History as well. On the big screen, Ronda appeared as herself in the Entourage movie, and in character roles for Furious 7 and The Expendables 3. Judging from all that work in just the past two or three years, I think it's safe to speculate on what type of acting roles Rousey is pursuing.

The term "female action star" is not a term you hear as often as the flip side, but it's certainly a role Ronda Rousey can fill. While many women have starred in action roles, I can't think of too many who have made a dedicated career out of it. A good example would be Milla Jovovich, who has made a living off the Resident Evil series as well as other action films, and another good actress for Ronda to emulate would be Fast & Furious vet Michelle Rodriguez, who also seems to find herself in a lot of action roles. And when in doubt, there's always Cynthia Rothrock.

The point is, enough actresses have worked almost exclusively in action films and done well for themselves, and provided that's what Ronda Rousey wants, it could happen. The UFC fighter has made no announcements regarding her future in the sport where, after famously losing her title to Holly Holm, Rousey returned after a year's absence only to be destroyed by current champion Amanda Nunes, just 48 seconds into their title fight. Many experts in the sport believe that Rousey is done, but the fighter is high profile enough that no one can make that decision but her. If Rousey wants to fight again, UFC won't tell her no, and people will tune in.

No doubt people will also tune into the fighter on Blindspot, and we'll like see what Rousey decides about her UFC future well after the episode hits. Every fall, the primetime TV lineup is filled with creative hits and misses, but it's usually the number of people tuning in, and not said creativity, that decides which shows are renewed and cancelled. Some do so poorly right out of the gate that networks drop the axe after only a handful of episodes, while some hang on for months without any decisions getting made. Now that most fall shows have aired at least half their seasons, we can deduce which ones may be in danger of cancellation by the end of the 2016-2017 TV block. Elementary, CBS

Elementary is a contemporary adaptation of the stories of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson as they crack mysteries deemed unsolvable by lesser investigative teams. It's hardly unique in that respect, and it's certainly less well-known internationally than BBC's Sherlock. Nevertheless, the CBS series has been critically acclaimed through its five seasons so far, and many here in the U.S. prefer it to the Brit miniseries. Johnny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan - yes, Joan - Watson have been a dynamic duo from the very beginning, and though the ratings have decreased over the last couple of years, a scheduling shuffle in the CBS lineup may be at least partly to blame for the drop. All things considered, Elementary is still strong enough on the creative front to deserve a Season 6.

Blindspot, NBC

Crime drama Blindspot got off to an exceptionally strong start with its series premiere back in fall 2015, and NBC didn't hesitate to extend the episode order for its first season. The number of people who tuned into the Season 1 premiere live meant that Blindspot was one of the hottest new shows of the season right off the bat. Unfortunately, the Season 2 premiere fared far worse with only a 1.50 rating and 7.09 million viewers. While those numbers would be phenomenal for other shows on other networks, they may not be high enough for NBC to stick with the series. The action has taken some fascinating twists and turns that deserve another season for the show to fully explore.

Average Ratings (18 - 49 demographic): 1.21

Average Viewership: 5.55 million

Gotham, Fox

Superheroes are all the rage nowadays on the small screen, and Fox's Gotham is the only source of Batman in primetime. Sure, Batman is only a gleam in the pubescent Bruce Wayne's eye at this point, but Gotham has brought in some of the most compelling characters of DC Comics history and put a unique twist on them. Sadly, not too many people are currently tuning in to Gotham when it airs, and the trend of ratings drops that started with the Season 2 premiere has continued into Season 3. Gotham is a niche series that is part crime drama and part comic TV show with a dash of dark humor, and it's possible that Fox could decide that it doesn't have the widespread appeal to stay on the air.

Average Viewership: 3.45 million

Timeless, NBC

Time travel is the latest fad for network TV shows, and NBC's new offering this past fall was Timeless, a sci-fi drama following the efforts of a history professor, a programmer, and a soldier as they travel through time to try and stop a former NSA asset from changing history for his own benefit. Timeless got off to a solid start with a 3.12 rating in the 18-49 demo and 10.60 million viewers tuning into the series premiere live, and NBC had enough faith in the freshman series to extend its episode order after only five installments had aired. The live ratings have more or less plunged in the weeks since, however, and NBC may decide that the time is right for Timeless to get the axe.

Average Viewership: 5.42 million

Pitch, Fox

Fox's new sports drama Pitch has already finished its first season, and fans have been waiting ever since the beginning of December for word of whether a Season 2 is in the works. Actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar has said that he and his co-stars are planning on a second season, but Fox hasn't made any announcement. Although the show debuted well enough with a modest 1.06 in the 18-49 demo and 4.22 million viewers, the numbers fell to somewhat alarming numbers as the season progressed. Nevertheless, it seems that Pitch has a loyal core following, and it is unlike anything else that aired on network television in fall 2016. With a strong cast and the realism of filming on location in real baseball stadiums, Pitch deserves another chance on primetime with a Season 2.

Average Ratings (18 - 49 demographic): 0.83

Average Viewership: 3.03 million

The Blacklist, NBC

NBC had a winner with The Blacklist in its first two seasons, but ratings and viewership dropped significantly for Season 3, and they haven't gotten any better since. Adopting more serialization into its narrative structure, the show made some bold choices at the end of Season 3 to accommodate leading lady Megan Boone's pregnancy, and it seems that those bold choices haven't resulted in better ratings for Season 4 so far. Not a lot of people watch The Blacklist live, and that could seriously affect the series' future on NBC. The Blacklist may benefit from the facts that its DVR ratings are pretty great and it has a spinoff set to debut in February, but Season 5 is not a sure thing at this point.

Average Viewership: 5.77 million

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., ABC

Although DC is king when it comes to comic TV, at least in broadcast, Marvel has stayed on the map since 2013 thanks to ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Fans of the Marvel movies followed Agent Phil Coulson to the small screen to see the goings-on behind the scenes at the mysterious S.H.I.E.L.D. Despite the show's premise self-destructing after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, S.H.I.E.L.D. has hung on, and Season 4 went in some exciting new directions. But not many people are watching those directions, and the ABC series has actually scored lower ratings than some of The CW's superhero series, and The CW is by far the smallest broadcast network. Throw in the upcoming Inhumans show that's getting a lot of buzz, and S.H.I.E.L.D. could be in trouble.

Average Viewership: 2.62 million

Quantico, ABC

One of the most talked-about shows on television in the fall of 2015 was ABC's twisty Quantico, which followed FBI Agent Alex Parrish as her life was turned upside down when she became the prime suspect in a terrorist plot. While the quick pace and compelling flashbacks won an audience early on, Season 2 lost a lot of those viewers as Alex began living a double life with the CIA and the FBI. Luckily, almost all the elements that were so successful in Season 1 are either still present or recoverable, and ABC recently moved Quantico from Sunday nights to Monday nights, hoping a new time slot could give help the drama's chances. So we may see the show's numbers receive enough of a bump in the rest of Season 2 to justify Season 3.

Average Ratings (18 - 49 demographic): 0.74

Average Viewership: 2.836

Frequency, The CW

Of all the shows on this list, Frequency is by far the most likely to be cancelled. Frequency's had low ratings even by CW standards, and its highest-rated episode only hit a 0.36 in the 18-49 demo, only attracting 1.35 million viewers. For a show that received a big advertising push, was inspired by a well-known movie, and has one of The CW's most popular shows as a lead-in, the freshman drama just doesn't attract audiences. Still, it's been surprisingly cohesive for a CW show about time travel, and its time-altering consequences are different from similar series. Frequency did not get an order for extra episodes and was not renewed when The CW renewed most of its other shows, so the odds just aren't great that it will survive its ratings struggles.

Average Viewership: 0.99 million

It's still early in the year, and some shows that are currently doing fine-enough in the ratings will see their averages go down later in the TV season, when viewership is traditionally less high. However, there are already a slew of shows that are missing the mark in terms of overall viewership, not to mention ratings in the advertising demographic. A couple of these shows have even had their episode orders cut, and others really need to improve if they have any hope of coming back next year. We've compiled a list of the shows that are already doing poor ratings over at the major networks. I have to say, these shows are all pulling numbers that are not enviable. Let's start with the worst of the worst in terms of the numbers.

Notorious, ABC

ABC's Notorious stars two well-liked actors, Piper Perabo and Daniel Sunjata. It also has a cushy timeslot in the Shonda Rhimes-heavy Thursday night lineup on ABC. And yet its numbers have been among the worst of the season. The show hasn't pulled over a 1.0 rating since its second episode and they've only continued to get worse each week, recently pulling a .75 in the 18-49 demographic. ABC has already cut the show's episode order down from 13 to 10 and the only reason Notorious probably hasn't been outright cancelled yet is because the network doesn't have anything to throw in the timeslot until Scandal and The Catch return at midseason. This one is highly unlikely to be back.

The Exorcist, Fox

The major networks have been trying to make TV shows out of movies for the last several years. Some of these, like Lethal Weapon, have worked for Fox. Some of them, like Minority Report, have not worked at all. The Exorcist is certainly closer to the latter than the former, although it hasn't been outright cancelled yet. The show does hold up OK, considering it airs on Friday nights. The genre series has a niche fanbase, unlike some of the other shows on this list, but considering the show has only done a .6 or .7 rating on Friday nights, it may not be quite enough to entice Fox to greenlight a second season, even in that tough timeslot.

Conviction, ABC

Hayley Atwell just can't find a win on ABC. The low-rated Agent Carter was cancelled after a second season, but Atwell is likable enough that ABC wanted to keep her in the fold. She stars in Conviction, a series about a woman and her team who look at wrongful conviction cases and must solve them, often under deadlines. Conviction will not be getting a back nine order this season, although it will air all 13 episodes. While some reports this week indicated the show is cancelled, those close to the show have stated no decision has been made, yet. Still, last week the show dropped to a .6 rating and 3.6 million total viewers. The rating, especially, is not looking good.

Frequency, The CW

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is the CW's lowest-rated show. But Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is already in its second season and gets awards nods. Newcomer Frequency's ratings are close to comparable with the aforementioned worst-rated show, and guess what? It's probably not going to get any awards nods. The CW has The 100 and more programming slated for midseason, and I'm guessing that programming will be what sticks. Unfortunately, Frequency is unlikely to stick around for a second season.

Rosewood, Fox

What's startling to me is how many non-freshman programs are making the list this year. Rosewood kicked off pretty well last season. It got a huge boost because it aired behind Empire in the schedule, but this season Fox has it running with the also low-rated Pitch. Both shows could easily be cancelled later this season, although it's likely that Fox might try to switch up some timeslots to make both of these shows work before axing them. Rosewood is making the list first because Pitch is better liked by critics, its ratings ticked up this week, and it has a bigger DVR following. I'd keep an eye on both shows, though.

Elementary, CBS

Quite a few people still watch Elementary, despite the fact that it airs at 10 p.m. on Sunday nights when a slew of people are already in bed. However, although the show has averaged more than 5 million viewers during its fifth season, that's still fewer viewers than most other CBS programs. In addition, most of those viewers are older than the 18-49 demographic, which means they are less valuable to advertisers. This past Sunday, the show only did a .6 rating, which put it on par with the low-rated Quantico. It doesn't help that Elementary has already hit the 4-season syndication benchmark.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The CW

I briefly mentioned Crazy Ex-Girlfriend earlier in this article, noting that it does have some awards clout at the CW, which the network has been sorely lacking for years. Still, I don't think we can underestimate the fact that it is the lowest-rated program on The CW---and it is also nabbing way lower viewership than it did during Season 1. It does have a fanbase that loves it and that might---strong emphasis on might---be enough to get it greenlighted for a third season in May, but just like the musical Galavant before it, two seasons might be all that the network can manage to pull together before giving the show the axe.

The Blacklist, NBC

People have turned on The Blacklist this fall. I don't know if this has to do with anger over Elizabeth Keen's faked death or what happened between Red and Mr. Kaplan. It might even have to do with The Blacklist's late night timeslot on Thursdays, as the longer-running show has been known to pull in good DVR numbers. Whatever the problem, The Blacklist has been pulling horrible numbers compared to former seasons this fall, with recent episodes only nabbing a wee bit over a 1.0. Of all the shows on the list, you would think NBC would stand behind this one the most, as it is in its fifth season on the network. Plus, NBC has a spinoff for The Blacklist called Redemption already in the works. I'm sure NBC wants to keep The Blacklist, but these numbers do not look good.

No Tomorrow, The CW

No Tomorrow may have a tomorrow, but I'm not certain that next year is in the cards. The freshman rom-com airs in a cushy time slot after The Flash, but it hasn't even managed to maintain a decent-sized portion of the numbers the DC series brings in. While the numbers have waffled on the series a bit, it's doing about the same numbers as Frequency, and with the Archie comics series Riverdale and The 100 coming, there's a good chance the CW will cancel this one in favor of new programming at the end of the season, especially if the two midseason shows aren't disasters.

Son of Zorn, Fox

The Last Man on Earth and Son of Zorn are doing about the same numbers on Fox on Sunday nights. However, The Last Man on Earth is in its third season on Fox and is much closer to syndication than Son of Zorn. In addition, Son of Zorn should theoretically benefit from airing in an earlier timeslot, after The Simpsons, but its numbers don't indicate a lot of people are sticking around. Fox has had trouble finding the perfect Sunday night lineup over the years, and a lot of these comedies don't make it past the first season. I wouldn't be surprised to see Son of Zorn make the list.

Pure Genius, CBS

It is almost always difficult to be a show that gets added to the calendar at an off time. This year, CBS held Pure Genius until the very end of October. Only two episodes have aired so far, with the third set to hit the schedule tonight. Both have done over 5 million total viewers, which isn't a disaster. What is a disaster is the 18-49 rating. The second episode only managed a .8 rating, even with decently high overall viewership. As The Blacklist has already shown, that 10 p.m. timeslot can be rough, but if you are a freshman series without a built-in fanbase and a sequel on the way, it might even be deadly.

Quantico, ABC

Quantico pulled good DVR ratings during its first season, which helped to bump up its early Live+Same Day ratings and boost ABC's estimation of the series. However, because of the format of the drama, Quantico had to kind-of reboot in Season 2, focusing less on some of the characters we already liked and sending Ryan and Alex to CIA training. It's been weird, and it's no wonder that fewer people are watching. Right now Quantico is doing worse numbers than Revenge was doing when it was cancelled, and the most recent episode only did a .6 rating. Secrets and Lies is similarly doing poorly, although it is based on one-off seasons rather than an overarching plot. We would be pretty surprised if ABC brought it back next year.

Timeless, NBC

One of the more controversial picks on this list, Timeless has an enchanting time travel premise with historical twists and turns. It's done enough so far that its numbers aren't exactly dismal, and NBC has even rewarded the show with a few additional episodes. However, it's also among the lower-rated programs on NBC this season, and while it's doing about 62% DVR gains (which is actually fairly high), it's still a fledgling series and the numbers aren't looking great against strong competition on CBS and ABC. We'll have to wait and see with this one.

Even if you haven't watched a single second of baseball in 2016, you are without a doubt aware that we're nearing the completion of the most unpredictable and important World Series in the history of the sport. Game 7, between the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs, will air tonight on Fox, and a couple of other networks have made the wise decision to change their schedules up, replacing new episodes of hit shows with repeats. As of this writing, viewers will have to wait until next week to catch up with a slew of network shows. Here's the list:

CBS, which did something similar yesterday, will be airing a Criminal Minds repeat in place of a new episode. Interestingly, this was supposed to be the first episode with the now-fired Thomas Gibson's character Hotch off on his "extended assignment" that was written up to cover the actor's then-suspension. Also interestingly, CBS is opting not to replace new episodes of Survivor and Code Black with repeats, and fans of those shows can watch them as per usual.

Meanwhile, NBC will replace its three-show lineup with some repeats of its own. The first two episodes of this season of Law & Order: SVU will air in the first two slots, while a Chicago P.D. rerun will follow them.

There will be some sense of normalcy elsewhere on TV, though. ABC is reportedly still moving forward with its telecast of the 50th annual CMA Awards, which is good since it's way harder to postpone a live event. And The CW is at this time planning on giving Arrow and Frequency fans new episodes. That could change, though, so be sure to check your local listings closer to airtime to make sure.

The MLB may not bring in the kind of consistently killer ratings that the NFL does with its weekly contests, this World Series has made Fox pretty happy in the viewership department. Last night's relatively one-sided Game 6, in which the Cubs dominated for most of the telecast, was watched by 23.4 million people, making it the highest rated Game 6 since the 1997 match-up between the Indians and the Florida Marlins, which had a 23.7 million-strong audience. And given tonight's game is estimated to bring in around 30-35 million people, according to TVLine, it is not surprising at all that other major networks are balking at airing new episodes.

Coverage for Game 7 of the World Series will kick off on Fox at 7:00 p.m. ET, with the game itself starting up at 8:00 p.m. ET. Will you be watching along with millions of others, or are you more down for an SVU repeat? Don't let Harry Caray down.

We are a few weeks into the fall TV season, now, and the only shows that have gotten the axe have been programs that aired over the summer rather than in the fall, such as Braindead. Still, there are some fall shows that are faring way better than others, and we've decided to compile a list of network TV's best and worst to give you a taste of which of your favorite shows are doing well and which aren't. Cable shows are a different beast and rely on different types of subscriptions, so for now we've kept this to the big 5 networks. Regardless, The Walking Dead returns this weekend, and we expect that series to be pretty dominant where ratings are concerned.

ABC

Winners: Grey's Anatomy. We can't express how well this show does despite the fact that most original members of the cast have left and despite the fact the show has been on for more than a decade. It doesn't just do well for being old, it also has been crushing all of the other Shonda Rhimes ShondaLand shows that air on Thursday nights in the ratings. ABC's Wednesday night comedy block has also been a solid, with The Goldbergs, Modern Family and black-ish dominating. Newcomer Speechless has also been a surprise winner for the network. If you haven't watched the charmer, I'd give it a shot.

Losers: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hit a series low in its most recent outing and we have to say that 10 p.m. timeslot has not been kind on the series. Quantico has also faltered in its second season, also hitting a series low this past weekend and pulling in only a .8 rating and 3 million total viewers. Even regularly solid performer Shark Tank has dropped in the ratings this season, affecting shows like Dr. Ken, although the Friday night situation is not dire, yet.

Of the other new TV offerings, Notorious and Conviction have worn out their welcome with audiences already. Conviction has done decently in total viewers but the Hayley Atwell starrer has only been averaging a .85 rating in the 18-49 demo. Notorious is in about the same boat.

CBS

Winners: It's too early to tell about CBS' new programs Bull and MacGyver as both had insanely high premieres before faltering somewhat, but right now both new dramas are sitting pretty in their timeslots. Newcomer Kevin Can Wait is also doing well. The usual suspects like NCIS and The Big Bang Theory are also pulling in big numbers, although the latter could still end thanks to some pesky contracts. Regardless, CBS has a lot of shows to be thankful for as we get closer to November.

Losers: Did we mention how hard CBS has been crushing? When your worst fall show ratings-wise is a younger-gearing procedural that has been thrown into the late night timeslot on Sunday and is still doing decent DVR ratings, you know you are in great shape. Elementary has been on the bubble for a few years now, and this might be the year the network ultimately decides to say goodbye to the drama. Sunday nights are tricky, and Madam Secretary is a barely doing over a 1.0 rating right now.

The CW

Winners: While down a bit in the ratings from its last outing on CBS, Supergirl has been a clear winner for the CW so far. The network premiered its programs a bit later than some of the other channels, so we are only a few weeks into the new episodes. Still, most of the CW's DC lineup is doing pretty well and The Flash, like Supergirl, is doing spectacularly, despite also seeing drops. Supernatural is also holding steady, as well.

Losers: The CW shows a notable gap in the ratings between its shows that are doing well and its shows that are not doing well. Newcomers Frequency and No Tomorrow are not doing well. No Tomorrow earned a .3 rating this week, which is low even for the CW's standards. Frequency's last episode did slight better, pulling in a .31.

Fox

Winners: We were a little skeptical about the Lethal Weapon reboot before its premiere, but so far it has proven it is connecting with viewers. The new series actually improved in the ratings last week and pulled a 1.9 rating and 6.7 million total viewers and Fox has already given the show an 18-episode order. Not too shabby for a freshman series. Elsewhere on Fox The Simpsons is also having a great season, mostly thanks to a stellar rating during last weekend's 600th episode. Empire, of course, is still the network's most valuable property.

Losers: While not a total ratings loser, I feel this is a perfect opportunity to lambast Fox for that poorly executed crossover between New Girl and Brookyln Nine-Nine that aired recently. The ratings actually fell during the crossover, dropping to a .9 for both shows, and with good reason. That crossover was barely a crossover, and it did not help Fox's Tuesday lineup out, at all.

Luckily, B-99 isn't Fox's biggest loser right now. Newcomer The Exorcist has failed to entice viewers and isn't even bringing in 2 million viewers each week. Rosewood has failed to maintain its first season audience now that it no longer airs in the same block as Empire, and its viewership, although steady, is not as good as the numbers it was pulling last year.

Winners: NBC has some big programs that are clearly still pulling in viewers, including The Voice and longer-running drama Chicago Fire. Even Law & Order: SVU is still proving its longevity. The network also has a breakout hit this year in This Is Us, with this week's episode pulling in 9.7 million viewers and a 2.6 rating. NBC may not bring in as many total viewers as CBS, but it is figuring out how to lock in the 18-49 demographic.

Losers: Compared to the numbers some of the other networks are dealing with, NBC doesn't really have a huge dud. Most shows are pulling well over a 1.0 rating right now, and so far the big exceptions have been juggernaut The Blacklist, which still pulled a 1.1 rating last night and brings in just huge DVR ratings. Last year's highly advertised series Blindspot also brought in a 1.1 rating on Wednesday. Newcomer Timeless has started dropping in the ratings, but it's too early to tell whether or not this will be a problem long-term.

Following this year's lengthy list of cancellations, the major networks have a bunch of new series on the calendar, including both comedies and dramas. Fall TV isn't just about the new stuff, however, and now that the major networks and cable stations have started releasing their fall premieres, we can start planning our TV-watching schedule.

Potential spoilers for Blindspot are below, but the headline should have told you that.

Blindspot opened its narrative with a mysterious woman with no memory, and while we spent most of the first season believing that Jamie Alexander was playing a woman named Taylor Shaw - somebody who had been missing since childhood - we learned by the end of Season 1 that this was not the case. So who is Jane Doe? We think we might know the answer. We think her name is Alice Kruger.

Who is Alice Kruger? That's the part we honestly don't have a clue about. As far as we know, it's just a name, but that doesn't mean it came out of thin air. We've got some evidence that is supported by information the show's producers have provided. EW recently posted a story with a puzzle inside it, which they promise will reveal Jane Doe's real name. The puzzle, in the form of a poem, looks like this:

So, here's how it all came together. EW has a regular weekly feature called "Spoiler Room" in which they answer readers' TV-related questions. Our TV editor Nick Venable had noticed that over the past few weeks, there had been a couple of Blindspot related spoilers that seemed to have random capital letters spread throughout them. This is where the "capital gains" were "concealed."

In point of fact, there has been a Blindspot related spoiler every week for the past five weeks. If you line up all the capital letters as they appear in order, and find the appropriate word breaks, you will find the "meanings revealed."

So, now that we have them all, it's time to put them "in the mix." If you know Blindspot, then you know that word puzzles have been a big part of the plot. Patterson, the show's requisite tech nerd, loves them and is very good at them. Anagrams have been a staple of the puzzles, so it makes sense that this is what is meant by "mix."

The problem is, there's a lot of bloody letters here. Too many to be able to pull a random name out of, and proper anagrams don't leave letters out. However, the answer isn't simply the name, it's the answer to the puzzle. When you remove the letters needed to spell JANE DOE IS, you're left with few enough letters to work with, C,A,L,I,R,E,E,K, R,G,U. The best name that we can build with what's left is our answer:

Are we sure we have this figured out? Not exactly. However, the fact that we got an answer that fits sensibly makes us feel like we're certainly on the right track. It's possible we got some letters mixed up. For the record, you can also make the name Carrie Kugel with the same letters, so maybe that's the answer, though we like Kruger better as a last name. Alice Kruger sounds like a character in a show like Blindspot. Or A Nightmare on Elm Street.

The name doesn't mean anything to us, but since Jane Doe is supposed to be a mystery, we wouldn't expect it to. Her name isn't actually that important, since Season 2 is supposed to broaden its focus to center on trust and family. But it does matter who she's been working for, and exactly what it is they're trying to accomplish. Things we expect to learn when the series returns. And while we can't guarantee that this is the right answer, we'll hold our heads up high if it ends up being right.

We hope you are excited about movies this month, because there are a slew of new releases that should be worth at least a watch, and may even earn a coveted spot on your shelf. If you like movies about gymnastics, cats, moms, pissed off birds, fairytale characters or even assisted suicide, we've got your covered. Oh yeah, and Disney's new live action The Jungle Book is making its big debut and there are more TV Blu-ray and DVD sets than I really want to attempt to sum up in a sentence. The Bronze Blu-ray Review

Melissa Rauch is a really funny lady. Most people know her as Bernadette on The Big Bang Theory, but in Bryan Buckley's The Bronze, she's nothing like the high-pitched petite lady she plays on network TV. In fact, for most of the movie, Hope Ann Greggory (Rauch) is a lean, not-so-nice former gymnast who hasn't done much in her life in the time since winning a bronze metal at the Olympics. When she is given a chance to train a hotshot young gymnast Maggie (Haley Lu Richardson), she has to be cajoled into it via a promise of money, but while Hope seems a bit unlikable at first, the movie has more of a feel-good comedy angle nearer the end. Thomas Middleditch and Sebastian Stan also star in the flick, which comes to us courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The easy-to-watch little comedy doesn't come with a ton of extras, but deleted scenes are included. As The Big Bang Theory continues to age, Melissa Rauch is certainly one to watch. Keanu Blu-ray Review

Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key might not be producing new TV for Comedy Central anymore, but that doesn't mean they've stopped doing projects altogether. In fact, they've moved on to the big screen for Keanu, an action adventure comedy about two men and a cat. After breaking up with his girlfriend, Rell (Jordan Peele) comes into possession of an adorable kitten named Keanu. But when the kitten is stolen, Rell and his partner Clarence are sucked into an underworld of drug dealing and other gangster activity. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's flick is more action-oriented than comedic than one would expect, considering the movie was written by Peele and frequent TV writer Alex Rubens. The good news? there are enough HPV jokes and weird Blair Witch Project references to keep audiences amused throughout, and occasionally a few absurd plot moments that will keep you in stitches. (Anna Faris even cameos in one.) Extras on the Blu-ray disc are limited, but deleted scenes and the gag reel are worth a watch. You can order your own copy here. Supergirl has only aired for one season so far, but it already has a pretty storied history. Interesting love interests and afew very big twists were introduced during the superhero drama's very first season on the air, and Supergirl has also already dealt with the challenge of hopping networks and moving its production to Vancouver for Season 2. While the show doubtless has challenges ahead of it, the first season capably sets up a world where Kara Danvers brings Supergirl out of the shadows and chooses to use her extraterrestrial abilities to save the world. Melissa Benoist's Supergirl has its detractors, but I've always loved the way she combines certain girlish (and sisterly) tendencies with a steely strength and resolve. Binge-watching the first season for a second time on the Blu-ray disc also made me appreciate Kara's relationship with her sister Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Cat Grant's (Calista Flockhart) quest to discover who the superheroine actually is a bit more. A lot of the extras with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's set are pretty expected, including the gag reel and deleted scenes, although I like that the latter could be accessed in a couple of different places. I also enjoyed "A World Left Behind," which looked more into why Krypton was portrayed the way it was during the firs season. Comic-Con footage is also available, although you can view that footage online too. There are some animated movies that are made for kids but work nearly just as well for adult audiences. Then there are kids movies like The Angry Birds Movie, a fun and entertaining flick about four birds who meet in anger management class: Red (Jason Sudeikis), Chuck (Josh Gad), Bomb (Danny McBride) and Terence (Sean Penn). The four birds are around when some pigs show up on an island, but Red is suspicious of their motives, and rightfully so. It's a silly bit of escapism, but is remarkably watchable for something based on a game with a super simple premise. Like the flick itself, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's set is also geared to the kids. The menu page is extremely simple to use and 4 "Hatchling Shorts" are also available with the Blu-ray disc. There's also a dancing extra and another that shows your kids how to make you own Angry Birds DIY project, if they are feeling crafty. These extras might even hold your kids' attention for a few minutes after the movies runtime, which is a feat. Plus, a DVD and Digital copy is also included. Order your own copy for the home, here.

Castle: The Complete Eighth Season DVD Review

As far as ABC's sets go, gone are the days when we got cool 3D covers and intricate Blu-ray sets, but since Castle only recently ended on the network, we were hoping for some nice retrospectives and goodbye messages from the cast. Unfortunately---and probably because Castle was so abruptly cancelled---the Castle: The Complete Eighth Season set is missing all of those things. Still, fans can relive the feel-good ending of the series on this DVD set and Castle as a whole is a show that looks good in Standard Definition. Plus, there are a few bells and whistles in the form of deleted scenes and audio commentary---but not for the finale---that may be worth a watch to those who loved and stuck with the ABC drama for eight years. I wish that Castle had been given a more retrospective set for its ending, but because ABC wanted to churn this out quickly and feelings may have been hurt after the cancellation, I see why this didn't happen. As it stands, at least all 22 final episodes of the series can be binge-watched to our heart's content. And at least Caskett got the ending that relationship deserved. The Nice Guys Blu-ray Review

You should expect something likable from a movie starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. Throw in Shane Black, who wrote Lethal Weapon, and you know the script is going to be pretty solid. But Shane Black didn't just write The Nice Guys, he also directed it, and those efforts paid off. The Nice Guys is a really fun flick, and one of the biggest surprises of the summer. The plot of the part-thriller, part-comedy follows shady private detective Holland March (Gosling) and capable enforcer Jackson Healy (Crowe), who cross paths while looking into the death of a porn star named Misty Mountain---but quite frankly, her death may not be exactly what it seems. March's daughter, Holly (Angourie Rice), is the type of precocious kid who is more helpful than annoying and the rest of the cast is rounded out by some big names, including Yaya DeCosta, Matt Bomer, and more. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's set isn't really big on the extras, only coming with a short "Making of" featurette and another that segment that gushes about Shane Black's work ethic, but that's not why you were buying this title, anyway. DC's Legends Of Tomorrow: The Complete First Season Blu-ray Review

By now, many fans are gearing up for Legends of Tomorrow's second season, but if you missed the show during its first outing on the CW or are an Arrow or The Flash fan who hasn't given the network's third DC show a shot, this week it a good time to check it out---on glorious Blu-ray or Digital HD. Legends of Tomorrow starts Atom, White Canary and a slew of other heroes and heroines who have created TV's first network superhero team-up show. The first season, which has 16 episodes, mixes time travel and a bunch of different personalities; in short, it has something for everyone. While not the gritty drama Arrow has been or the light-hearted romp The Flash tries to be, Legends does have its own flavor and we hope the show continues to grow as it works through its growing pains and heads into Season 2. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment says the first season set comes with an hour of additional content, and there does seem to be quite a bit of that, here. The big extra is access to the 2015 Comic-Con panel if you weren't there/haven't found that on the Internet yet, but there are deleted scenes and a gag reel, as well. There's even an entire featurette devoted to Jonah Hex, because Warner Bros. totally understands what the fanbase wants. Order the Blu-ray here.

The Huntsman: Winter's War Blu-ray Review

The Huntsman: Winter's War is a big budget movie from Universal Studios that looks stunning, and it knows it by the proliferation of ways the film has been released. You can catch it on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand starting today. We looked at the Blu-ray copy of the flick, and provided you liked the movie, this is one particularly nice set, coming with bonus features that touch on girl power, the visual spectacle---including one particularly fanciful extra on the costumes---and more. Still, it needs to be noted The Huntsman: Winter's War has been facing an uphill battle since the movie displaced Kristen Stewart and chose to focus on The Huntsman Eric (Chris Hemsworth), as well as sorceress Ravenna (Charlize Theron), her sister Freya (Emily Blunt) and a huntswoman named Sara (Jessica Chastain). Despite the stunning cast, Cedric Nicolas-Troyan's movie can be convoluted, although it maintains enough narrative threads that people should connect it with the first movie. The Jungle Book Blu-ray Review

The Jungle Book is a feat of motion capture and animation, set in a magical world where animals talk and a very young boy is hoping to find his place. Jon Favreau's vivid movie is much darker than the original animated Disney classic, but no less watchable. The cast, too, is also top notch, with Idris Elba playing on the iconic Shere Khan, Bill Murray taking on the role of Baloo, Ben Kingsley playing Bagheera, Scarlett Johansson taking on a female version of Kaa and Christopher Walken playing King Louie. Christopher Walken, Lupita Nyong'o and newcomer Neel Sethi round out the incredible ensemble cast, which follows Mowgli running from Shere Khan through various terrains. Walt Disney Home Entertainment's set is beautiful, too, with a carefully designed menu screen and a slew of bonus features. These are more for the Disney adults who loved the film than the kids, however. "The Jungle Book Reimagined" goes into detail about how Jon Favreau got involved with the project---it was pitched to him---and even looks at the musical score and how the movie was made, which essentially included a lot of post-production work first. All of the bonus features are super-informative like that, but they will be a snooze for kids. On the bright side, the whole family can enjoy the flick. You can order your own copy here.

Me Before You Blu-ray Review

Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin are often the highlights of the projects they have appeared in, and they got the chance to take on lead roles in the messy romantic film Me Before You, which was directed by Thea Sharrock. The film is not your traditional romance, and it needs to be consumed with a box of tissues rather than the usual ice cream. It's main premise---about a paralyzed man and his youthful caretaker---also is not without controversy, as it tackles a lot of ideas about humanity and life that may . Despite how you may feel about the general premise, Sharrock's movie is a joy to watch, filled with life and two likable leads that will pull you into the movie and help you to invest in the unconventional story. If you haven't given You Before Me a watch yet, it's an unexpected gem of a movie, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's set won't cost you an arm or a leg on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital. Blindspot left us with plenty of unanswered mysteries at the end of Season 1, and while it will hopefully fill us in more on Jane Doe's backstory in Season 2, the NBC drama will be making some changes. Most notably, the series was actually fairly violent early on into its run. However, now that the drama is moving to an earlier timeslot for Season 2, the show has decided to restrict the amount of violence it chooses to use.

Speaking at the TCA press tour (via EW), executive producer Martin Gero revealed that Blindspot plans to tone down the violence quite a bit. He also revealed that the 8 p.m. hour is the culprit for why the show is changing its tone somewhat and gave us specific examples of the types of violence that would change. And while Blindspot has always been a show that thrives on gunfights and hand-to-hand combat sequences, I don't think most viewers will really miss seeing people get shot in the head.

The news comes just a few days after Martin Gero actually revealed more information at a panel about where Blindspot is headed in Season 2 at Comic-Con. He stated the show plans to unravel some of the show's mysteries, but he also described where the NBC drama will be picking up, noting:

A show's first season often sets up for what is to come, but Blindspot has already had 22 episodes to explore its storyline. We're already pretty deep into the story at this point, and we'll have to wait and see if the big change regarding the violence and the storyline reset make Blindspot a different show when it returns. Luckily, we don't have too much longer to wait. Blindspot will return to the schedule on Wednesday, September 14 at 8 p.m. ET. Check out the rest of the fall premiere dates with our TV schedule.

Piracy is a growing problem for the television industry. Networks large and small have had to deal with cyber pirates leaking episodes online. If nothing is done to stop the leak of copyrighted content, more and more shows may lose live viewers to online piracy. Now, NBC has found a new way to combat piracy that could be a game-changer. NBC Universal has developed a new technology to help stop the illegal spread of episodes before they're too widely circulated.

NBC Universal has secured the patent to the technology that targets high-volume file sharing of content that has been pirated, according to Home Media Magazine. Users on peer-to-peer networks will find themselves struggling to illegally distribute episodes if the technology is as effective as NBC hopes. The tech is designed to alert websites and ISPs when piracy is detected. Ideally, leaks will be locked down before content can be widely downloaded.

Pirates are often able to avoid authorities by using P2P networks that enable access to copyrighted material en masse. ISPs can be overwhelmed when too many users try to access pirated content at once, which can have significant financial repercussions of all companies and networks involved. If NBC Universal can catch on to piracy earlier, network resources can be dispatched with specificity to prevent wasted time and money.

The new technology has been in the works since 2009. In the years since it began development, piracy has gotten worse for NBC. The Blacklist was the ninth most-downloaded TV show in 2015, and the highly-anticipated pilot for last year's Blindspot leaked online months before it was scheduled to air live. Hannibal executive producer Martha De Laurentiis blames piracy as the cause for the show's low Nielsen ratings and subsequent cancellation after Season 3. NBC could certainly use this new anti-piracy tech as soon as possible.

Of course, NBC is not the only network suffering from illegal uploads and leaks. HBO has been dealing with widespread piracy in recent years; Game of Thrones topped the lists of most-downloaded series in both 2014 and 2015. AMC has been getting creative to stop episodes of The Walking Dead leaking to hopefully avoid earning spots alongside Game of Thrones on the most-downloaded lists. Netflix has factored the effects of piracy into its business model. CBS had Supergirl spreading online six months before it would premiere, and even the comparatively diminutive CW had a big episode of Arrow leaked in 2015. If NBC's technology works, other networks may need to scramble to keep up.

Fall TV premiere season is fast approaching, and networks will likely see piracy problems pick up sooner rather than later. We'll have to wait and see if NBC is able to get the early edge on pirates and stop content from making it online.

Blindspot finished off its first season run with a ton of huge reveals. Namely, we now know that Jane is not actually Taylor Shaw, despite everything that led us to believe that all season. While we were recovering from the startling nature of that shocker, Oscar was planning to wipe Jane’s memories again. She didn’t take too kindly to his plan. She ended up killing Oscar when he walked into her blade, only to get arrested by Weller and the FBI in the finale. Now, we’ve learned that Oscar is definitely dead, although the NBC drama did toy with the idea of bringing him back. Here's why showrunner Martin Gero says Oscar was killed off the show.

Martin Gero's comments to TV Line indicate that the actor was really well-liked on the set. So much so that they tried to figure out a way to keep Oscar around, despite the fact that the series had planned to kill the character off at the end of Season 1. It didn't work out, but it did work out for actor François Arnaud, who actually booked another NBC pilot. That project was none other than Midnight, Texas, the Charlaine Harris book-turned-series which was picked up by NBC just a couple of weeks ago. Talk about getting your foot in the door with a network.

Fans who were intrigued by Oscar or were invested in the information he was able to give to Jane during the show's first season run will likely be a little bit disappointed by the death. Still, Gero and the rest of the writing team aren't interested in apologizing for killing off our favorite characters. It is a series that thrives on constant danger.

That constant danger will continue into Season 2. Blindspot has already been renewed by NBC, although the series will be switching nights next fall. Well, the Season 1 finale was a big one for Blindspot. We finally found out that Jane wasn’t actually Weller’s missing childhood friend Taylor Shaw, and we also know what happened to her, seeing as how Weller’s dad confessed to killing her on his death bed. Mayfair died in a very bloody way in the finale, and Jane killed Oscar and was arrested by the FBI New York Field Office’s new boss, Weller. With all the reveals from the episode, though, we still don’t know who the hell Jane really is or where she came from. Well, if you’re planning to tune in for Season 2, it looks like you’re going to be rewarded with at least a few answers pretty quickly, according to Blindspot executive producer Martin Gero.

Oooooh. You hear that? No more misdirection about who Jane is for the Season 2 premiere. Martin Gero spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the finale and Blindspot’s plans for the seasons ahead, and revealed that they have the story arcs, including reveals to some big mysteries, already laid out for the next season. Usually, shows with big questions like the ones Blindspot has posed over the first season can let those secrets go on for way too long, while still piling on additional mysteries for the audience to obsess over. But, it sounds like this is not going to be a series that tortures viewers with the absence of answers they so dearly desire.

Really, finding out Jane’s real name by the end of the first episode of Season 2 sounds like a good reward for everyone who stuck with the show for the first season. Note that Martin Gero also says that we’ll find out “a lot” about what’s going on in that first episode and that all the info will be the genuine article. So, while I’m sure there will be some new questions introduced in that episode, and during the course of Season 2, we can at least be sure that we’ll be gifted with some answers before too long. And it’s a good thing, too. When a show like Blindspot holds out on answers, it can end up frustrating the audience more than it intrigues them. That can frequently lead to viewers who are so unhappy that they give up on a program altogether.

The 2015-2016 TV season has been pretty exciting so far, with some big dramas like Supergirl and Quantico hitting some schedule and some smaller comedies, like The Grinder and Grandfathered finding their way into people’s homes and hearts. There are some big shows returning at midseason, too, with programs like Agent Carter and Secrets and Lies finding a home on the big networks in the colder months. By this spring, the networks will make some big decisions on whether or not some of our favorites will get renewals, and for now we are keeping tabs on what shows are cancelled, which are renewed and which at least have received full season orders.

This list will stay updated as the year moves on, so we can keep tabs on what will be moving forward and what will ultimately get the axe from the big networks. Good news is listed in green and bad news is listed in red. Sometimes a show will receive a full episode order before it gets picked up for a brand new season. While that's good news, it doesn't necessarily mean that a show will be back next fall.

NBC renewed a lot of programming early in the season, including fan favorites like The Blacklist and Chicago Fire. However, the network is still having trouble, with a comedy lineup that isn't super impressive. Variety show Best Time Ever also failed to stick around this season, and was cancelled by the network a while ago. Here's where NBC's shows stand:

NBC revealed their Fall 2016 lineup today, giving us a look at how the week will play out over at the Peacock. Returning this fall are Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D., along with The Voice, Grimm, Blindspot and others. Joining the schedule are This is Us, The Good Place and Timeless.

As you're about to see, Blindspot has been moved away from its Monday timeslot, while The Blacklist has been bumped back an hour on Thursday night. Here's how it all shakes out...

The Good Place

TV premiere season is always an exciting time for fans of the small screen because new shows are hitting networks large and small. There’s always a wide variety, ranging from medical dramas to comedies to sci fi adventures. Most of us can find at least a show or two worth getting into. As far too many of us know, however, there’s an element of danger in getting invested in brand new shows. The future is almost never 100% certain when it comes to television, and it’s heartbreaking to fall in love with a series only to have in cancelled just as it’s getting really good. Luckily, some networks have been kind enough to already give renewal orders to some of the freshman series. Check out our list of 13 new TV shows that you definitely don’t have to worry about getting cancelled; they're already renewed for Season 2!

Chicago Med

Chicago Med had a recipe for success that made a renewal as much of a sure thing as is generally possible for network television. When it premiered in October of 2015, it was the third show in Dick Wolf’s Chicago franchise (which already included Chicago P.D. and Chicago Fire). Prior to the renewal announcement, Chicago Med was averaging 11.3 million viewers per episode in 7 Day ratings for NBC. The premise follows the adventures of an ensemble of doctors and nurses in the emergency unit of a Chicago hospital. Med both fills a gap left by past Chicago-based medical juggernaut ER and expands the Chicago universe even further. Chicago Med airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

Scream Queens

Scream Queens is a show that almost doesn’t sound like it should work on network television, but Fox found a viral hit with the Ryan Murphy series that combined a “whodunit” murder mystery with a darkly humorous take on the horror genre. The show had a killer ensemble that included Emma Roberts, Glee alum Lea Michele, and legendary scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis. The show wasn’t exactly smashing ratings records, but it created such social media buzz that it became the top show among young adults and earned a renewal for Season 2. The first season of Scream Queens ended its run of 13 episodes in December of 2015.

Quantico

Quantico has had something of an unexpected journey over its first season so far. It premiered in a competitive Sunday night timeslot, and its ratings were solid but not exceptional. What has been exceptional about Quantico’s numbers is that the DVR figures of the first half of the season bumped up viewership by an average of 1.5 million people. The show went on a long hiatus between its midseason finale in December and its midseason premiere in March, but ABC evidently found enough of a hit in FBI trainee Alex Parrish’s exploits in flashbacks and flashforwards to order Season 2. Quantico airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is one of the most surprising renewals given by any of the networks. From almost the very beginning, the show was lucky to bring in more than 1 million viewers. Even for The CW, those numbers are pretty low to warrant another season, and odds were against a second go. Things began to look up when star Rachel Bloom won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy in 2015, and The CW has seen fit to give Crazy Ex-Girlfriend another shot. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

Zoo

Adaptations of books have found plenty of success on the small screen, but CBS’ Zoo pulling off the plot of James Patterson’s novel of the same name seemed unlikely. Animals acting crazy is much easier to do on page than on a television budget. Nevertheless, CBS reported that Zoo was the most-watched scripted summer series of 2015, so bringing the series back for a second go this summer makes sense and is wonderful news for the people who have already been hooked. Zoo premieres its second season on Tuesday, June 28 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.

Blindspot

Blindspot on NBC was a breakout hit during the Fall of 2015, scoring 10.5 million people who tuned in to watch live. Like Quantico, Blindspot has a huge DVR presence, and it was averaging 12.7 million viewers overall as well as an enviable 3.7 demographic rating when it was officially renewed for its second season. Unless Blindspot starts to flop sooner rather than later, star Jaimie Alexander may have a long future of waking up early to get full-body tattoos plastered on her by the makeup department while playing the mysterious Jane Doe. Blindspot airs on Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.

Into The Badlands

Another show that defeated the odds to score a second season is AMC’s Into the Badlands. Despite the constant plugging for the series during commercials for the massively popular Walking Dead, Into the Badlands saw its ratings drop from a premiere 6.3 million viewers all the way down to about 2.5 million by the fourth episode in Season 1. Still, it’s enough of a genre show – featuring an assassin, an adventurous teen, a swordswoman, and a feudal setting – that a core audience is likely to stick around once established. Interestingly, AMC waited more than two months after the Season 1 finale to give the official order for ten episodes of Season 2. Into the Badlands ended its first season on December 20, 2015.

The Expanse

Syfy has had trouble getting any space-oriented TV shows off of the ground for the last several years, but all that changed when the cabler introduced The Expanse. The show has brought in alright ratings, with fewer than a million viewers each week. Still, the network does fine with on smaller numbers and The Expanse has been well-liked by fans of science fiction. It's no real surprise Syfy decided Season 2 was worth it. Unfortunately, fans of the freshman drama will have to wait until 2017 to catch new episodes. It's hard work making a TV series set in space!

Full Frontal With Samantha Bee

Former Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee left Comedy Central to headline her own talk show on TBS. Full Frontal With Samantha Bee has been a hilarious showcase for a comedienne who only got a few minutes per episode on The Daily Show. TBS renewed Full Frontal after only two months on the air for an additional 26 episodes, bringing the count up to 39 and carrying the show all the way to the end of the year. Full Frontal With Samantha Bee premiered on February 28 and airs on Mondays at 10:30 p.m. ET on TBS.

Humans

Humans is an AMC series that is not a spinoff, does not feature zombies, and does not feature swordplay on a regular basis, so it’s not exactly the series that most people associate with the network. That said, Humans brought in respectable numbers for a cable summer series, averaging about 2 million viewers per week. The show is distinctly sci fi with its premise based on artificial helpers usurping the roles of human characters in a future reality. Instead of going to predictable route and turning the series into a constant Battlestar Galactica-esque battle between man and robot, Humans is a more subtle look at what could happen to a society incorporating artificial intelligence with everyday mundanity. Humans ended its first season in August of 2015.

Colony

Colony put USA on the post-apocalyptic drama map in a big way when it introduced a family struggling to stick together and survive a conflict between the Collaborators and the Resistance after the occupation of the planet by an alien force. The show brought in an average of 3.4 million live viewers early on, which was enough to warrant a renewal after only three episodes. With post-apocalyptic veterans Sarah Wayne Callies and Josh Holloway in starring roles, the cast has been solid enough to sell some of the crazier sci fi elements so far. The first season of Colony came to a conclusion on March 2016.

Baskets

It may have actually been impossible for Baskets on FX to be a failure. The series was co-created by comedians Zach Galifianakis and Louis C.K. Galifianakis stars as Chip Baskets, whose dream of becoming a renowned professional clown are foiled by financial troubles to max hilarity. The series premiere actually broke ratings records for FX with 1.75 million viewers. Ratings remained impressive over the next few episodes, and FX gave the renewal order after only five installments. Chip Baskets will be back yet again to pursue his dream in early 2017. Baskets ended its first season on FX in March of 2016.

Legends Of Tomorrow

The CW may be the underdog network on the small screen, but it has paved the way for superhero series by establishing a small empire of DC shows. Legends of Tomorrow was bound to have at least some degree of success thanks to the built-in audiences from parent shows Arrow and The Flash, and the series premiere brought in the highest numbers for The CW in its timeslot in years. The mishmash of heroes and villains from Arrow, Flash, and DC Comics lore has meant that viewers never know what they’re going to get from a given episode. A second season means that the superhero universe can keep expanding on The CW in new and unexpected ways. Legends of Tomorrow airs at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. Now that most TV programs are back from winter hiatus, we’re getting far closer to the time that the various networks across the board are making decisions about whether or not TV programs will be coming back next year. First-year programs are especially vulnerable to the whims of networks, as they are trying to build a brand new audience in a market that has way more original content than it used to. Luckily, there are some freshmans shows that are doing just peachy in the ratings, leading to early renewals or at least what seems to be a vote of confidence for the network. Here are the 14 first season TV shows that definitely won’t be getting cancelled this year.

Supergirl, CBS

Status: Doing very well in the ratings.

What You Need To Know: Alright, we know Supergirl isn’t doing The Big Bang Theory-level ratings. However, while the show had some ratings ups and downs at the beginning, Supergirl’s ratings were always pretty good—just not quite as high as the lofty heights set by the premiere. In the weeks since, Supergirl producer Andrew Kreisberg has said the show has had time to work some of the kinks out, and with the Martian Manhunter twist, the drama has finally hit its stride. Expect it to be around next year.

Chicago Med, NBC

Status: Renewed for Season 2.

What You Need To Know: Chicago Med literally got renewed right in the middle of this list coming together, which is pretty swell, if you ask me. Sister shows Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. are coming back next year (which means crossover opportunities), and Chicago Med is doing strongly in viewership each week. So, consider this show one of the least shocking renewals, ever.

Blunt Talk, Starz

Status:Renewed.

What You Need To Know: Bet you didn’t see that one coming. The Patrick Stewart-led comedy hasn’t been a big show in terms of buzz over at Starz, but if you haven’t been keeping tabs, Blunt Talk was renewed over at Starz quite some time ago. In fact, when the subscription cable network signed on for the Seth MacFarlane and Jonathan Ames-produced comedy, the network agreed to produce 20 entire episodes. Since 10 were produced in Season 1, that means we will be getting 10 more in Season 2. I love it when math works out.

Rosewood, Fox

Status: Full season order. Also, the drama can thank Empire for a steady audience.

What You Need To Know: I’m still not sure Rosewood is the perfect vehicle for Morris Chestnut, but luckily there are plenty of people watching TV on Fox each week that disagree with me. Rosewood has had a pretty cushy timeslot, airing after Empire in the schedule. It’s a lineup that works, and doubtless Fox will give the show a second season. Good numbers are good numbers, after all.

Quantico, ABC

Status:Full season order. No Season 2 yet.

What You Need To Know: Honestly, of all of the shows on this list, Quantico is on the least steady footing, yet that show still crushes each week. The Priyanka Chopra-starrer does consistent ratings, and has has developed a rabid fanbase. It helps that it has one of the most exciting and most interesting new premises of the TV season. Since I’m a betting woman, I’m willing to say that Quantico will be back next year. Watch it if you haven’t already.

Billions, Showtime

Status: Renewed for Season 2.

What You Need To Know: It only took a few days for Showtime to decide its Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis-led series was a winner. Shortly after the Season 1 premiere, Showtime decided Billions would 100% be returning for Season 2. So, yes, we will be getting new episodes in 2017. Even better? Season 1 only started a few weeks ago, and there is still plenty of time to catch up on all the drama.

Blindspot, NBC

Status: Renewed for Season 2.

What You Need To Know: The big networks have made plenty of early renewals this year, but most of these have been related to established shows like Law & Order: SVU and The Simpsons. Ultimately, NBC decided to take a chance on its freshman thriller and signed on for Season 2 of Blindspot months ago. So, if you are Jane figuring out who she is, you need not worry that the show will end this season. Jane will be back.

Scream Queens, Fox

Status: Renewed for Season 2.

What You Need To Know: Scream Queens’ total viewers numbers never reached particularly great heights in the ratings, but on the bright side, a lot of young people seem to have loved Ryan Murphy’s latest TV program. (sidenote: he also has American Crime Story coming up.) Those who didn’t perish during the first season will return for a new set of episodes.

Dr. Ken, ABC

Status: Full season order.

What You Need To Know: While not officially confirmed for Season 2, Dr. Ken has been one of the most successful comedies to hit the schedule this year, despite being critically panned early in its run. ABC signed on for a full season order rather quickly, and we’re assuming Dr. Ken will land the same Friday slot next year. It’s about time, too, as ABC has seen comedies come and go on Friday nights for the last several years.

Fear The Walking Dead, AMC

Status: Renewed.

What You Need To Know:Fear The Walking Dead got the ultimate vote of confidence when AMC actually decided to renew the series before one episode had even aired on the network. The two-season renewal likely allowed the creative staff to look further ahead than just one season on the network and gave Season 1 the opportunity to end on a bit of a cliffhanger. We’ll learn more in Season 2.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, FX

Status: Renewed for Season 2.

What You Need To Know: FX’s show didn’t hit the schedule with a huge viewership, but as it turns out, a lot of people were catching Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll via the DVR. The Denis Leary starrer is expected to return sometime in 2016, but so far even FX hasn’t indicated exactly when that will be. Still, Season 2 is a go, people.

Ash vs Evil Dead, Starz

Status: Renewed for Season 2.

What You Need To Know: Starz has been fond of early renewals for several years now, and Ash vs Evil Dead earned the ultimate early renewal, landing a second season three days before the show was even set to premiere on the subscription cable network. Awesomeness ensued, and Ash and Co. are set to bring more blood and gore to the small screen in 2016—likely around the Halloween holiday.

When it comes to kicking ass on TV, the women were out in full force in 2015. Ranging from ladies adapted from page to screen to ladies that we wish were on page so we’d have something to pass the time over hiatus, this past year was a good time to see heroines in action. Of course, there are more ways to be a prominent character than to awesomely pummel bad guys, but watching women more than holding their own against zombies and aliens was super satisfying all around. Who says that the girls can’t keep up with the boys?

Peggy Carter, Agent Carter

Peggy Carter may have been introduced to audiences as Captain America’s love interest in Captain America: The First Avenger, but she came into her own as the lead in her own ABC series in early 2015. As a government agent in the 1940s, Peggy was a lone woman among an office full of men who thought her only good for fetching coffee and answering phones. Peggy turned their expectations around and spent most of the first season kicking ass and taking names to clear Howard Stark’s name while the other agents followed false lead after false lead. She may not have gotten the credit that she deserved at the end, but she did get a second season to do it all again in 2016.

Anne Bonny, Black Sails

Some characters may get kick-ass cred just for being pirates, but Anne Bonny of Starz’ Black Sails more than earns the title on her own. A female pirate operating out of the Bahamas in the 1700s, she carries a pair of swords and wears a permanent glare. She’s willing to cut down just about any enemy who stands in her way. In fact, her introduction on Black Sails in Season 1 saw her killing a man in a tavern. While it’s difficult to call her a hero, she’s a pirate through and through, and what’s more incredible than a female pirate?

Jane Doe, Blindspot

One of the newest hardass female characters on television is Jane Doe of NBC’s Blindspot. After waking up naked in Times Square with no memory of who she is or how she got there, the tattoos covering her body lead her to the FBI. Latent abilities began to surface as her past as a special ops agent comes to light, and the question of whether or not she was a bad guy in the past lingers over her search for identity. Not only is Jane great in her action sequences, but actress Jaimie Alexander is the coolest just for dealing with all of the false tattoos applied all over her body for the series.

Brienne Of Tarth, Game Of Thrones

Brienne of Tarth may be a lady by birth, but she’s more of a knight than most of the men called “ser” on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Complete with sword, armor, and squire, Brienne spent 2015 traversing through Westeros and fulfilling vows as best she could. Determined to protect the daughter of Catelyn Stark despite Sansa’s protests, Brienne followed Sansa to Winterfell. In a stroke of luck, she happened upon Stannis Baratheon and was able to finally avenge the death of her beloved Renly by cutting down the brother who had him killed (presumably). Let it not be said that Brienne could ever be called “oathbreaker,” and watching her slice and dice her way to Winterfell was fantastic.

Jessica Jones, Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones was the first female Marvel super-powered hero to headline her own successful series in recent years, and it was just about impossible not to binge-watch the series quickly on Netflix. Although Daredevil paved the way for Marvel on the streaming service, Jessica Jones more than stands on its own thanks to the awesomeness that was Jessica Jones herself in her first season. Traumatized by her experiences with nemesis Kilgrave, Jessica nevertheless fought against her own PTSD as well as Kilgrave’s powers of mind control to epically take him down. Although there’s no official word on a second season, we'll still be able to see Jessica kick some ass on The Defenders and beyond.

Alex Parrish, Quantico

Alex Parrish is another kick-ass female character new to TV in 2015. As the lead character on ABC’s Quantico, she is a top recruit at the FBI Academy falsely suspected of committing a terrorist attack. Between her skills as a problem solver and her proficiency with weapons, she’s a formidable force who is trying to uncover who has framed her and figure out how she can clear her name. Between the flashbacks and present action, Alex is one of the most compelling characters on television, as well as one of the most skilled agents, thanks to that FBI training.

Carol Peletier, The Walking Dead

The past 12 months has been a solid time for the ladies on The Walking Dead to show off just how badass they can be. While Rick was busy creepily flirting with a housewife and Daryl was busy moping, Carol adapted to life in Alexandria so perfectly that it’s somewhat surprising that she has not yet declared herself queen and been accepted. Trading in her bloody travel duds for sweater sets and cookie recipes, Carol played the role of a harmless domestic while gathering intel on how best to stage a coup d’etat in Alexandria. As terrifyingly ruthless while clean and chirpy in Alexandria as she was with a machine gun at Terminus, Carol was essential to Rick and Co. effectively taking over the settlement.

Kara Danvers, Supergirl

Kara Danvers on CBS’ Supergirl gave DC its first female protagonist on television in recent years, and she’s been a fantastic leading lady. Her action sequences are unlike any others on television as she uses everything from flight to superspeed to freeze breath to take down aliens who crash-landed on Earth and are now threatening humankind. Despite frequent mentions of her off-screen cousin Superman, Supergirl has been able to stand on her own as she grows from girl who happens to be an alien with powers to superhero in her own right.

Lagertha, Vikings

Lagertha of History’s Vikings is about as remarkable as they come. Rising from her position at the start of the series as what amounted to the Viking version of a housewife, the shieldmaiden elevated herself through the ranks of powerful characters. Not content to sit idly by while her husband took a second wife, she divorced the lead character, married an earl, killed the earl, and took his rank for herself. Although her earldom was usurped, there can be no doubt that Lagertha will have her vengeance before too long. Besides, any woman who can twist her hair into those braids is automatically kick-ass.

Michonne, The Walking Dead

Carol wasn’t the only woman taking names on The Walking Dead in Alexandria. Michonne insisted that they stay in a place with a certain degree of safety and then blossoming when named a constable was great to see. Arguably the most stable of the group to join the settlement, Michonne adapted to life without losing her edge… or her skills with a katana. There are few things as satisfying on The Walking Dead as watching Michonne slice and dice her way through a horde of zombies, and Season 6 has given her plenty of zombie action to make up for the episodes of Season 5 that saw her sword up on the wall.

There’s no question that every TV season produces some winners and some losers, and this year a ton of low-rated programs, from The Player to Blood & Oil, have already seen their episode orders cut. However, among those poor performers, there are plenty of diamonds that have managed to earn good—if not great—reviews and an avid fanbase.

Each year, we put together a list of the shows we feel will have enough longevity to move forward, not just for a second season, but over the long haul. Predicting a show's trajectory is not easy or exact, of course, as sometimes shows will reboot, lose a showrunner or take a tumble in the ratings after trying out a storyline that fans just don’t dig. Regardless, thus far this season, there have been six shows that have shown signs of sticking around for a long time to come. Blindspot, NBC

While NBC also spent a lot of time marketing Heroes Reborn, Blindspot has been the clear winner of the network’s 2015-2016 fall schedule, pulling in solid numbers each week. The Jaimie Alexander-starrer is averaging 12.7 million total viewers and a 3.7 rating, plus NBC has already announced that Blindspot will be returning for Season 2. This show has a bright future in front of it, and we’d be shocked if it didn’t make it to the five-year mark. Now, NBC just needs to pair it with The Blacklist, and my viewing schedule would be set.

Limitless, CBS

The flashy, bold and sometimes innovative Limitless is one of the few procedurals that is turning the genre on its head right now. Starring Jake McDornan and Jennifer Carpenter and featuring performances from Bradley Cooper himself, the movie-turned-TV series has been innovative with its FBI storyline, featuring plenty of interesting storytelling devices and even fun gimmicky episodes for fans, including a recent one that nodded at Ferris Buehler’s Day Off. It only seems to be getting better since its pilot, and it has a strong audience, too. We expect this one to be around for quite some time.

Quantico, ABC

Quantico comes from Criminal Minds producer Mark Gordon and has a loyal following, although many people are watching on DVR. The most recent episode did a 2.56 rating in Live+3 numbers and increased its audience by 92% in timeshifted viewing. Even though ABC’s Sunday night draw is a bit lackluster, Quantico is a shining star, and the numbers are good enough that the network has signed on for extra episodes. I have no idea where Quantico could possibly go if the network orders a second season, but I hope it sticks with the format and gives us a new plot that is equally as thrilling. If the fast-paced narrative keeps up the thrills, this should be one fans can see for years to come.

Ballers, HBO

This one’s a bit of a cheat as it had a summer premiere, but too often shows with summer premieres don’t make these lists because they don’t fall within the regular TV cycle, and this one really deserves to be here. Why? Because it features Dwayne Johnson and is a savvy, fun comedy that also happens to be filled with sports cameos. The Miami-set series is already renewed for Season 2, and we don’t think getting to a fifth season is a stretch. Find out when Season 2 premieres.

Supergirl, CBS

Two weeks ago, Supergirl was sitting pretty as one of the highest-rated fall premieres. We know this show has dropped viewers since it premiered on CBS. On the bright side, it still did a 1.7 same day rating this past week, which puts it far and away ahead of a lot of other innovative fall shows, including the likes of The Grinder. Supergirl is also doing better ratings than The Flash or Arrow, not to mention Gotham, so it’s definitely the most popular DC TV series. Five seasons doesn’t seem like a stretch, at all.

Fear The Walking Dead, AMC

The prequel to popular zombie drama The Walking Dead had a built-in audience from the start, and earned a Season 2 renewal even before the first season aired. It also did quite well in the ratings, although has not amassed quite the same fanbase that AMC’s other zombie drama has. Still, this show should coast to five seasons, and maybe even beyond. The zombie apocalypse sucks, but it's sure good for ratings.

Ash vs Evil Dead

After just two episodes, Ash vs Evil Dead has already made itself at home in our weekly TV escapes. This is Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell’s return to the world of demonized deadites and chainsaw hands, and there’s no one else out there that could have dreamed of putting this together with such precision. From the silly jokes to the slimy special effects to the legitimate scares, Ash vs Evil Dead is the perfect genre-mixer with bravado and gallons of blood to spare. As always, Campbell is the best thing on screen, but he’s got a strong supporting cast around him to add to the fun.

The Grinder

Watching The Grinder invites one to wonder just how Rob Lowe hasn’t been leading his own comedies for the past decade or more. (As well as some pondering over why Fred Savage so rarely gets in front of the camera these days.) The concept – Lowe’s actor went from playing a lawyer on TV to joining his family’s law firm – is silly, but allows for all kinds of comedic foils that usually has Savage’s family man bewildered by how no one else can see past his brother’s B.S. With a great supporting cast and solid writing, The Grinder is probably the best good old-fashioned comedy of the fall season.

The Grinder airs Tuesday nights on Fox.

Blindspot

If you’re into clue-laden tattoos and large-scale mysteries, then television probably can’t get much better than Blindspot. Jaimie Alexander stars as a woman with no memory of her very busy past, and her entire body is covered in tattoos that have to be decoded in order to stop certain crimes from happening, and it all ties to Sullivan Stapleton’s FBI Special Agent Kurt Weller. Blindspot is high-energy fun, and it’s the kind of show where the episode titles are anagrams and will form a message when laid out completely. If only all shows got that nerdy about their mysteries.

Blindspot airs Monday nights on NBC.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

In recent years, The CW has done a solid job at broadening its programming slate. Created by comedian Rachel Bloom and The Devil Wears Prada screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend doesn’t seem like an easy fit anywhere, much less The CW, but is welcomed with extremely open arms all the same. The basic gist is Bloom’s Harvard grad Rebecca Bunch is a social plug who leaves a successful life behind to move to the city where her first love Josh (Vincent Rodriquez III) lives, hoping to rekindle something. Further bolstered by a splendid supporting performance by Donna Lynne Champlin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is most easily applauded for delivering some of the funniest musical sequences ever seen on TV.

Red Oaks

While Amazon’s Red Oaks, created by Joe Gangemi and Gregory Jacob, may not immediately deserve to stand besides classic period dramadies like The Wonder Years and Freaks and Geeks, but I’d say it deserves the consideration. Set in the 1980s, Red Oaks stars Craig Roberts as David, a guy trying to pass the summer by working at a New Jersey country club as a tennis instructor. Here we have a top-notch cast that includes Paul Reiser, Richard Kind, Oliver Cooper and Ennis Esmer as David’s amiable slimeball of a boss, and a coming-of-age tale that recalls more carefree days when getting a buzz and a date were the most important worries. It doesn’t hurt when your director team includes David Gordon Green, Amy Heckerling, Hal Hartley and Andrew Fleming.

Scream Queens

Created by American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy, Scream Queens is another anthology series, but with far more emphasis on balancing the blood with laughs. There’s no denying that this show, which centers on a series of murders involving a college sorority run by Emma Roberts’ exasperatingly bitchy Chanel, might be a little too harsh for some viewers, but the fans are definitely eating up the catty drama and growing body count. Standout performances from Jamie Lee Curtis as the dean and Glen Powell as super-douche Chad Radwell add to Scream Queens’ surprising charm, and it’s hard to hate on a devil-based whodunit.

Scream Queens airs every Tuesday night on Fox.

Supergirl

While Arrow and Gotham have the small screen cornered on dark and broody comic book fare, we thankfully have bright and cheery superhero tales with The Flash and now Supergirl. CBS isn't a network known for high-flying action and evil alien villains, but it definitely allows for the budget to make those things happen, and Supergirl is a delightful mix of special effects, cheeky dialogue, heavy mystery and charming characters. If there was any doubt before the show aired that Melissa Benoist wouldn't be successful in portraying one of the most important female heroes out there, it quickly evaporates once she's on the screen. Plus, Calista Flockhart is a snappy gem as Cat Grant.

Supergirl airs every Monday night on CBS.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert took a huge leap in moving from Comedy Central’s partisan-satirizing The Colbert Report to the limelight of The Late Show as David Letterman’s successor, and he turned the late night staple into a convention-warping frolic through entertainment, politics and news. An interviewer that regularly draws intelligent interviews out of his esteemed guest list, Colbert was able to dilute his expertly snarky persona into someone interested in hearing what everyone else has to say. In just a few short months, he’s already sat down with everyone from Donald Trump to Joe Biden to Bryan Cranston to John Irving to Bill Clinton to Oprah Winfrey. The late night game has always been a testy one, but Colbert took no time at all to stand tall next to Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel, as well as those who left the profession behind.

Master of None

It was hard to predict anything about Master of None, the latest co-creation from stand-up comedian and Parks and Recreation vet Aziz Ansari, who put this show together with Parks screenwriter Alan Yang. Still, I don’t think anyone could have expected this particular blend of genuinely hilarious and emotionally sound storytelling. Ansari plays Dev Shah, an actor trying to make it in New York, both in work and in love, with friends Arnold (Eric Wareheim), Denise (Lena Waithe) and Brian (Kelvin Yu), as well as romantic interest Rachel (Noël Wells). The concept isn’t fresh, but here we get a rare TV focus on Indian culture, as well as a unique narrative approach that hits upon the absurdity and surreality seen in Louie and Man Seeking Woman.This might just be Netflix’s best original comedy yet.

Getting invested in a TV show a dangerous game. Few series are ever 100% safe from cancellation before a certain point, and the nagging question behind every cliffhanger is of whether or not the show will have time for resolution. Fortunately for fans of some of NBC’s most notable primetime series, there have been surprisingly early orders for extra episodes. Blindspot, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Law & Order: SVU have been ordered to twenty-three episodes for their current seasons.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that these three shows have pulled ahead of other NBC dramas and comedies. The typical episode order for a season of primetime television is only twenty-two episodes, but NBC evidently has a great deal of faith in these four shows.

Blindspot has been a breakout hit of the fall season. Ratings have remained impressive from the very first episode, causing NBC to give the full season order after only a few episodes. The series stars Jaimie Alexander of Thor fame as a tattooed amnesiac with crazy combat skills, and both Blindspot and Alexander have taken audiences by storm. This bonus twenty-third episode is proof enough that the network believes that the early success of the show is not just a fluke.

The other three shows come from the brain of none other than Dick Wolf, of Law & Order franchise fame. While most of the spinoffs of the original Law and Order are off the air at this point, Wolf has proven that he knows how to build a franchise.

The twenty-three episode order for current Law & Order venture SVU is managing to inflate the show in its seventeenth season just a little bit more. Sex crimes procedural SVU has survived some serious cast shakeups that saw the end of the partnership that drove an awful lot of the plots, and NBC doesn’t look like it plans on giving up on it anytime soon.

The other two shows to receive the twenty-three episode order are in a franchise of their own, although there is some crossover with SVU thanks to the grand Venn diagram that is the brain of Dick Wolf.

Chicago Fire follows the stories of the lives and careers of the paramedics and firefighters of the Chicago Fire Department. After its premiere in 2012, the show was considered enough of a success that NBC ordered a spinoff written to coexist within the same universe as SVU and Chicago Fire. Chicago P.D. premiered in 2014 and is now airing its third season.

Blindspot airs on Mondays at 10 p.m. ET, Chicago Fire airs on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET, Law & Order: SVU airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ETC, and Chicago P.D. airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET, all on NBC.

There are few things more disappointing than emotionally investing in a brand new Fall TV show, only to watch it get cancelled before it even reaches the end of its first season. All that time spent suddenly feels wasted, and all that mental energy learning about the new characters seems pointless. Fortunately, between ratings, script orders and renewals, it’s possible to predict with some accuracy which shows are likely to make it over the long haul.

We've already gone over the shows most likely to get cancelled. This is a much happier list. If you’re watching any of the following shows, you should feel pretty good. All of them will almost certainly receive a complete first season, and a very high percentage of them will likely be back for Season 2 next year.

Limitless, CBS

With more than 11 million live viewers per episode and huge gains on DVR, Limitless appears to be a bit hit for CBS. The network already extended the initial episode order to include a full 22 this first season, and considering its solid 18-49 numbers for a station that sometimes struggles attracting younger viewers, the future is nothing but bright, especially for an adaptation of a mediocre Bradley Cooper movie.

Dr. Ken, ABC

Dr. Ken Jeong just keeps crushing. The real life doctor turned Hangover star turned Community regular was gifted his own show this year, and the viewing public has responded in more than acceptable numbers. The premiere grabbed 6.7 million people, and viewership has been solid in the weeks since, or at least solid enough for ABC to extend the series order to 22. None of this might sound overly impressive, but given it’s a half hour comedy that’s assumedly very cheap to produce, the future is very bright.

Quantico, ABC

Quantico is glitzy, it’s polished and its numbers have been decent thus far. It premiered to more than 7 million and its most recent episode held strong with more than 5. Those numbers aren’t going to win any awards, but with the backing of super producer Mark Gordon (Criminal Minds, Grey’s Anatomy, Ray Donovan), reviews over 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and a structure that feels very modern, it’ll be given every chance to succeed. In fact, the first season was already extended by 6 episodes. At some point, it’ll probably need to grow its total audience a little bit in order to earn a Season 2, but there’s no reason to think that won’t happen naturally.

Supergirl, CBS

There was some concern about Supergirl’s pilot, given it was very widely pirated after it leaked online early, but fortunately for CBS, initial interest was huge. The show’s first episode grabbed just shy of 13 million viewers, and it put up really big numbers in the coveted 18 to 49 demographic. Those are incredible live numbers, and coupled with CBS’ likely determination to make its splashy new superhero property work, many are expecting huge things for the freshman drama. If the show holds a solid percentage of its numbers in episode two, CBS will almost certainly come out with a huge vote of confidence, likely by increasing the episode count.

The Grinder, FOX

Never ever bet against Fred Savage. The former Wonder Years lead and Princess Bride secret weapon has spent the past decade or so transforming himself into one of the most sought after comedy directors in the television industry. He’s worked on Modern Family, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Party Down and a whole lot more. Now he’s back in an acting role, and of course he’s crushing it. Reviews for Fox’s The Grinder have been wonderful and while ratings haven’t been huge, executives at the network reportedly love the show. They’ve already ordered an additional nine episodes, and hopefully, a Season 2 order will come at some point. After all, it’s never a good idea betting against Rob Lowe either.

Grandfathered, FOX

John Stamos’ other new project, the Full House continuation, has obviously been getting a whole lot more attention, but Grandfathered has been quietly putting up pretty decent numbers and attracting a lot of behind the scenes fans at Fox. Negotiations are reportedly underway between the network and producing partner ABC in order to finalize an agreement for more episodes. Once that’s completed, it will give Grandfathered a full first season order and alongside The Grinder, the network may look to position the two shows into a comedy block for years to come.

Blindspot, NBC

Thanks to the runaway success of The Blacklist, NBC has spent a lot of time trying to find more shows like the popular James Spader vehicle that would appeal to viewers across many demographics. In Blindspot, executives may have finally found the right one. The freshman drama premiered to almost 11 million viewers, and a half dozen episodes in, it’s still holding at around 8 million live per offering. Those numbers were enough to capture a full season order, and if they continue for a few more months, they’ll definitely be enough to give the show a much deserved second season.

Rosewood, FOX

Rosewood might not be as flashy as some of the other entries on this list or as talked about as its Wednesday night partner Empire, but it has quietly put up very good numbers for FOX. The premiere attracted more than 7 million, and the show has been adding to its audience pretty steadily through Hulu and DVR. At some point, it will need to stand on its own without the help of Empire, but for now, everyone involved seems very happy with the numbers. Rosewood was recently given a full season order, and if it doesn’t dip, it’ll likely pick up a Season 2 order later.
