As stated earlier, this news comes not even 24 hours after Clarkson postponed her Las Vegas residency. She also shared a statement about that, saying that she was taking time to be with her family amid Blackstock’s illness.

In a message on Instagram, The Kelly Clarkson Show host wrote about why she wouldn’t be playing her upcoming shows, explaining:

Before this, there had been rumors going around that Blackstock was sick. The singer had missed quite a few tapings of The Kelly Clarkson Show, citing that it was for a “private matter.” Later, it was alleged that Blackstock was ill; however, that was not confirmed at the time, and his illness was not specified.

It’s been nearly four years since Kelly Clarkson filed to end her marriage to Brandon Blackstock and two years since the ink dried on their divorce settlement. But while the former couple may have come to terms on custody of their two children and ownership of their ranch in Montana, the legal battle continues into a fifth year regarding her past business dealings with her ex-father-in-law Narvel Blackstock’s Starstruck Management. Clarkson has filed a new cross-complaint to possibly increase the $2.6 million her ex-husband was ordered to pay late last year.

After the Blackstocks sued Kelly Clarkson in 2020 for over $5 million in unpaid commissions, the American Idol champion countersued, alleging that Starstruck had violated the law by acting as a talent agency in those dealings. The court sided with Clarkson, and now she’s asking them to determine if she’s owed more, suing for judicial intervention regarding their interactions for the entirety of their working relationship, per Rolling Stone. According to the filing:  

Brandon Blackstock had appealed the 2023 ruling, Rolling Stone reports, saying his family and the Starstruck firm were entitled to a full trial, as they allegedly claimed they weren’t allowed to call witnesses and present evidence in their defense, per OK! magazine. That request is still pending, but in the meantime Blackstock’s lawyer Bryan Freedman responded to Kelly Clarkson’s latest legal move, telling Rolling Stone: 

Narvel Blackstock sued Kelly Clarkson in 2020, shortly after she filed for divorce from his son. He alleged that she was in violation of their oral contract and owed over $5 million in unpaid commissions from her role as a coach on The Voice, partnerships with Norwegian Cruise Lines and Wayfair, and hosting the Billboard Music Awards. 

Labor Commissioner Lilia Garcia-Brower ruled in November 2023 that those deals should have been handled by Kelly Clarkson’s talent agency Creative Artists Agency, and Brandon Blackstock was ordered to refund the money that had been paid to him for those deals — a total of over $2.6 million. 

The commissioner, however, ruled in Brandon Blackstock’s favor in regards to his work getting her The Kelly Clarkson Show, saying that deal was executed “at the request of CAA.” Blackstock also continues to receive over $45,000 a month from his ex-wife in child support payments, though the $115,000 she was paying in spousal support supposedly expired in January 2024.

We’ll have to see how the courts rule in Kelly Clarkson’s latest filing, and if the legal battles between these two will ever be put to rest.

Leave it to the 9-year-old to try to find a loophole in the rules, too, because Clarkson said:

Forbidding Instagram may not be the most popular decision in her kids' eyes, but Kelly Clarkson’s parenting is drawing praise from parenting organizations like MomCo International, who told TMZ: 

Kelly Clarkson does have a pretty big platform with her talk show that holds a coveted afternoon time slot, so MomCo would seemingly be correct that the singer’s social media ban could embolden other parents to do the same. Another organization, the National Association for Child Development agreed, saying Clarkson’s decision is respectable and should be honored. Parents know their children better than anyone and are responsible for ensuring their online environment is safe and age-appropriate, according to the association.

Now, two years since they did finalize their divorce, Clarkson’s ex-husband has been ordered to pay her over $2 million in fees he collected from booking several jobs while acting as her manager — despite the fact that she’s still on the hook for child and spousal support.

Even after coming to terms on their divorce, the legal battles waged on between the talk show host and the Blackstock family, with Brandon and his father Narvel Blackstock saying Kelly Clarkson owed them over $5 million in unpaid commissions. Clarkson countered that their agreement was “unenforceable,” and it seems the court agrees. Per TMZ, a California labor commissioner has now ruled that Blackstock must repay $2,641,374 in fees he collected from booking several jobs for Clarkson as her manager.

Only agents — not managers — can lawfully secure roles for talent, according to the ruling. Billboard reports that Kelly Clarkson’s former husband was ordered to refund $1,983,155.70 for securing the artist’s role as a coach on The Voice; $208,125 for a deal with Norwegian Cruise Lines; $450,000 for an agreement to promote Wayfair; and $93.30 from her hosting gig at the Billboard Music Awards in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Those were deals that should have been handled by her talent agency Creative Artists Agency, said Labor Commissioner Lilia Garcia-Brower.

The commissioner, however, ruled in favor of Brandon Blackstock when it came to commissions earned for helping to get her The Kelly Clarkson Show, as Lilia Garcia-Brower said that work was done “at the request of CAA” and therefore did not violate the law.

So it looks like money will continue to change hands between the exes, but it won’t just be Kelly Clarkson writing the checks. Per the terms of their divorce settlement, the American Idol champ agreed to pay over $45,000 monthly in child support, and the order to pay $115,000 a month in spousal support (down from the original ruling of $150,000) expires in January 2024.

The “Since U Been Gone” singer has been fighting with Starstruck Management, which is owned by Narvel Blackstock, since 2020, as the firm filed a major lawsuit against Kelly Clarkson in the months after she separated from Brandon Blackstock. Could the ruling mean she can finally put this chapter in the rearview mirror?

It’s been an intense couple of years for Kelly Clarkson, and she poured all of the emotions from her big breakup into her songwriting, reportedly penning around 60 songs in the aftermath of the split. She also quit The Voice, and her comments about how she was struggling on the show and didn’t “feel like smiling” anymore makes me think Season 23 wasn’t just Blake Shelton’s final rodeo on the singing competition, but Kelly Clarkson’s as well. As unfortunate as that is for longtime fans of The Voice like me, I was just happy to see the two of them palling around with Carson Daly one last time on Barmageddon.

As it’s been more than a year since Kelly Clarkson’s divorce from her ex-husband was finalized, and you may be wondering where she stands with her ex-mother-in-law Reba McEntire. While making a guest appearance on Watch What Happens with Andy Cohen to promote her upcoming album Chemistry, the "Since U Been Gone" singer revealed if her relationship with the country singer had been affected.

It appears that these two powerhouse singers are still very close. As Clarkson and McEntire have been friends since 2002, the "Breakaway" singer still sings high praises for her long-time friend. These two award-winning performers may not be family members anymore, but it looks like they still hold a special place for each other in their hearts. Back in 2021 Reba talked to ET about this familial connection amid the divorces, saying:

In promotion of her 10th studio album Chemistry, Kelly Clarkson has begun her Las Vegas residency, opening up her catalog for a more intimate experience with fans in lieu of going on a whole tour. During her shows, she’s continued to cover other artists’ songs — a well-known fixture of The Kelly Clarkson Show — singing Harry Styles’ “As It Was” and Gayle’s “abcdefu,” to which she added her own topical, post-divorce twist. At her recent show she debuted a new version of the title track off her 2015 album Piece by Piece. Introducing the song, Clarkson told the audience (per ET): 

The song was reportedly written about Brandon Blackstock, praising him for being a better father to their two children than her father was, thus restoring her faith. However, in the version she sang this weekend, “He collected me up … He filled the holes that you burned in me,” became “I collected me up … I filled the holes,” taking back the credit for her healing. The lines, “He never walks away. He never asks for money. He takes care of me. He loves me,” became: 

Furthermore, instead of singing, “I will never leave her like you left me, And she will never have to wonder her worth, Because unlike you, I'm gonna put her first. He'll never walk away. He'll never break her heart. He'll take care of things, he'll love her. Piece by piece, he restored my faith that a man can be kind and the father should be great,” the new version went: 

Those lyric tweaks might not be as cathartic as belting, “Fuck you and your dad and the fact that you got half,” in her cover of Gayle’s hit, but there’s something so brutal about erasing Brandon Blackstock from a song about being a good father. Check out one fan's video of the performance below:

Shortly after Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock in 2020, the American Idol OG was hit with a major lawsuit filed by Starstruck Management, which is owned by her ex-husband’s father, Narvel Blackstock. Nearly three years later, the marriage may be over, but the legal battle wages on. The end, however, may be in sight, as a time frame has been determined for the decision on whether or not Clarkson owes her ex-father-in-law over $5.4 million in unpaid commissions, or whether the agreements made over a decade ago will be declared “unenforceable.”

After the court case was pushed into its fourth calendar year since Starstruck Management Group’s initial filing in September 2020, the “hearing is still ongoing” between Kelly Clarkson and Narvel Blackstock’s company, according to the California Labor Commissioner’s Office (per US Weekly). However, there appears to be light at the end of this tunnel of litigation, with the office also saying: 

According to the trade, a post-hearing brief is both parties’ last chance to plead their case based on what came out during previous hearings. Assuming those were collected on time, Kelly Clarkson and the Blackstocks may finally be able to put this long battle behind them. 

Starstruck’s lawsuit alleged that the former coach of The Voice owed millions of dollars in commissions for her work on the NBC singing competition, as well as The Kelly Clarkson Show. A couple of months after the September 2020 filing, Kelly Clarkson filed a countersuit that accused Narvel and Brandon Blackstock of acting as unlicensed talent agents on her behalf, making their verbal agreement for commissions “void and unenforceable.”

While Starstruck said the “Stronger” singer owed them at least $5.4 million at the end of 2020, Kelly Clarkson countered, saying the Blackstocks acted illegally as her agents, gave false information and charged her “unconscionable fees and compensation” for their allegedly illegal services. Therefore not only does she challenge the assertion that she owes them any money, but she is also asking to be repaid what they did earn by way of her employment. 

Kelly Clarkson’s divorce battle with Brandon Blackstock was a contentious one, with fights over custody, spousal support, validity of their prenuptial agreement and ownership of their ranch in Montana. It took nearly two years to finalize the divorce, and even after the papers were signed and Blackstock was evicted from the home, he did not go quietly. And still, all of that drama has been settled a whole year sooner than the fight with the music management company.

The Emmy-winning daytime talk show host made her feelings about her ex-father-in-law clear when she adapted the lyrics to Gayle’s “abcdefu” on one of her Kellyoke segments, singing:

The long wait is finally over! Kelly Clarkson’s first (non-Christmas) post-divorce album, Chemistry, has been released, and this one gets really personal. The first American Idol winner has compiled a musical journey for her 10th studio album that aims to show listeners the entire arc of a relationship. Clarkson was extremely vulnerable with this new batch of songs, and by extension, that makes it a pretty personal experience for her Brandon Blackstock, as well. The artist said she and her ex-husband did talk via text ahead of the album drop, and she revealed what she told him.

After writing an insane amount of breakup songs in the weeks and months after separating from Brandon Blackstock — and then weeding out those “angry” ditties that went too far — Kelly Clarkson put together a 14-song collection. When asked about her ex-husband’s take on it during an appearance on the TODAY show, the former Voice coach revealed: 

She seemed to acknowledge Brandon Blackstock’s pain in the divorce as well, ensuring him that while there’s plenty of heartbreak on Chemistry to be sure, she also included the joyful moments too.

Kelly Clarkson has made similar comments about the album, assuring fans in much the same way that Chemistry wouldn’t boil down to just the two emotions of “angry and sad,” and that a relationship that meant so much couldn’t be reduced to just one thing. She insisted to Carson Daly and Hoda Kotb that she loves love — despite the single “i hate love” featuring Steve Martin on the banjo — and that each song captures a moment of her journey. As for whether or not Brandon Blackstock will listen to that journey, she mused: 

I can’t imagine it’s easy for Kelly Clarkson to rehash such raw emotions and talk about the things she went through that inspired Chemistry’s music, and I would guess it’s equally hard for Brandon Blackstock to hear. Kelly Clarkson appeared on Glennon Doyle’s We Can Do Hard Things podcast, and not surprisingly, the singer’s seven-year marriage to Brandon Blackstock was a big part of the conversation. Being a year removed from the divorce — as well as writing a crazy amount of music about it — has given her perspective on what she went through, and she told the author that she can see now how the relationship she was in was not the right one for her. Clarkson said: 

That wasn’t something the former coach of The Voice was able to see, however, when she was in the thick of it, and when asked why she stayed so long in that situation, Kelly Clarkson replied:

They were also on her mind when choosing the music for Chemistry, as she had to decide which divorce songs went too far and might be inappropriate for her children to hear.

Kelly Clarkson said she hadn’t even realized how much she had “belittled” who she was to try to make everybody else OK. When it was suggested that she had dimmed her light, Clarkson clarified:

This is supposedly the kind of journey fans will take when Chemistry is released, because despite the long and contentious divorce, the album is about more than just the heartbreak. Her joke on a recently aired episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show went viral, when she said Brandon Blackstock didn't give her a “push present” after the birth of their two children, but it left me wondering just how common this practice is.

Kelly Clarkson had apparently never heard of a push present — in which a mother is given a gift after having their baby. Her guests on the episode, Pink’s husband Carey Hart and Nick Jonas’ wife Priyanka Chopra, had to explain the whole concept to the host, leading Clarkson to lament: 

This was clearly said in jest, but it still seemed possibly a little harsh. Having had two children myself in the same timeframe as Kelly Clarkson (whose children were born in 2014 and 2016), I honestly don’t think push presents were a widely known thing back then. Even now I have to wonder if this is something more popular with celebrities or for people with more “bougie” proclivities. 

A quick poll of four of my closest girlfriends — all of whom also birthed children around the same time as the former coach of The Voice — confirmed that no gifts were received from their partners, nor were they expected. In fact, one friend responded to my question with only several crying laughing emojis.

Again, I understand that the slight shade Kelly Clarkson threw at Brandon Blackstock was at least mostly a joke, and she herself admitted that he probably also didn’t know what a push present was, saying: 

Kelly Clarkson certainly knows that marriage and parenting are hard enough without getting petty over something like a push present. Thinking back to those early days of parenthood, I was grateful to the point of tears for an extra hour of sleep!

Kelly Clarkson has spoken before about red flags she missed during her marriage to Brandon Blackstock, saying that she doesn’t have any regrets about the relationship because she’s learned from it and has become a better person. To her, they reflect a moment in time, but as she was putting together the track list, she was concerned about where the line was, particularly for the sake of her children. It’ll represent the good, the bad and the ugly of the entire relationship, but that doesn’t mean she wanted her kids (or the general public) to hear everything. So, that’s where that dividing line of appropriate versus inappropriate came in. 

Now that the divorce drama has had time to simmer and then cool off, it sounds like Clarkson is in a much better place emotionally. During the interview, she was able to speak candidly about the highs and lows and some of the good things she took from the relationship: specifically chemistry. She said she’s never felt a spark with anyone like she did initially with Blackstock. Their chemistry was something she’d never experienced, which is what drew her in. But the relationship and the time to reflect has ultimately made her realize that the chemistry itself isn’t enough and sometimes you have great chemistry with someone you shouldn’t be with. The Kelly Clarkson Show, which is changing locations, was renewed several months ago through 2025, thanks in large part to how much audiences connect with the popular singer. While the songstress has promised that her upcoming album, Chemistry, will encompass “the arc of an entire relationship” and discuss the positives and negatives of her time with Blackstock, she took a public shot at him on her show during a recent Kellyoke segment. Wow. OK, as you can see from the clip, the “Stronger” singer wasted zero seconds when it came to switching up the lyrics to the song “abcdefu” by Gayle. The original tune features the opening, “Fuck you and your mom / and your sister and your job / and your broke-ass car / and that shit you call art.” Clarkson changed it to a much more topical-for-her and somewhat more daytime TV-ready:

Those lyrical adjustments can’t be anything but allusions to her divorce, the on-going case against her ex-husband and his father, and the star’s thoughts on the relationship that will be revealed on her forthcoming album, which she’s already admitted to having written a whopping number of songs for as she was divorcing.

September of 2020, just a few months after Clarkson filed for divorce, saw Blackstock and his dad, Narvel, sue her for more than $5.4 million in supposed unpaid, estimated commissions to their company, Starstuck Management. The duo managed her for about 13 years, beginning in 2007, but in the wake of her divorce filing, the “Breakaway” singer didn’t take the lawsuit lying down, and filed her own countersuit. 

She responded by filing a labor petition, which claimed that their company went against California’s Labor Code by allegedly not making sure they were fully licensed under the Talent Agencies Act before working on her behalf. The superstar is asking that their agreement be “declared void and unenforceable,” and is also asking that the millions she did pay to Starstruck be repaid to her.

It would appear that her upgrading those lyrics didn’t come at a random juncture, as Radar Online reports that it was just a few days ago that lawyers for both parties appeared before the state’s Labor Commission for an evidentiary hearing, though no decision has been made in the case yet. While it’s truly unfortunate that Clarkson can’t fully begin to move on as this suit lingers, at least fans know that when she begins releasing songs from her new album, they won’t be short on revealing and “completely honest” lines like the one she used in her Kellyoke performance.

A lot has happened in Kelly Clarkson’s life over the past few years: She’s taken her Emmy-winning talk show to new heights, won a season of The Voice and was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But without a doubt the biggest thing that the singer has endured was the end of her marriage and the long, difficult divorce from Brandon Blackstock. As The Voice’s 23rd season prepares to wrap up its audition round, the coaches seem to be settling in nicely with each other. But rumors have begun to circulate that things aren’t as hunky dory as they appear, particularly when it comes to Clarkson and this season’s Mega Mentor, Reba McEntire.

In honor of Blake Shelton’s final season, The Voice is giving him a full-circle moment by bringing back country music legend Reba McEntire, who served as his Battle Advisor in Season 1. The “Fancy” singer also just happens to be Kelly Clarkson’s ex-mother-in-law, and Radar Online reports that tensions have arisen over the talk show host’s divorce from Brandon Blackstock, which was finalized in March 2022. The site alleges: 

These rumors, if true, are surprising, given the fact that Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock split up nearly three years ago, and Reba McEntire — who was married to Brandon’s father Narvel Blackstock for 26 years before divorcing in 2015 — publicly refused to take sides in the breakup. The insider, however, claims that “for some reason” McEntire can’t accept that it’s over.

Kelly Clarkson has opened up recently about how her and Brandon Blackstock’s two children have handled the divorce, and allegedly, Remington and River Rose are at the center of the Queen of Country Music’s concerns. The source continued: 

Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2020, and the proceedings took nearly two years to settle, due to battles over money owed, custody agreements and ownership of the singer’s ranch in Montana. It doesn’t seem likely that Reba McEntire would still be harboring hope for the relationship a full year after the divorce was finally settled. It also seems questionable that the show would bring McEntire on in the first place, if Clarkson wasn’t OK with it.

Furthermore, if the job of the Mega Mentor is handled in the same way as seasons past, Reba McEntire will be in and out of the show pretty quickly. When Snoop Dogg, Taylor Swift and others appeared on The Voice in previous years, they were only featured in one round, so even if there was tension between the two powerhouse singers, it’s likely filming has occurred and the situation is already behind them.

We don’t know what goes on behind closed doors, though, and even if Reba McEntire has remained neutral about the divorce publicly, she wouldn’t be the first mother-in-law to have an opinion, especially if there are grandchildren involved.

Kelly Clarkson had quite the engaging conversation with another fan-favorite host, rapper and radio queen Angie Martinez, on the latest episode of the latter’s podcast Angie Martinez IRL. Given that a mother’s life is so rarely at peace, the American Idol winner shared some candid thoughts about how hard things have been over the past two years of divorce struggles, and obviously not just for her. When the subject of child-rearing came up, Clarkson revealed one big way she’s raising her kids to be the kind of person she is, saying:

As much as it might hurt for a parent to bear witness to their child’s feelings of sadness and conflict, it’s no doubt a healthier situation for them to be open and straightforward about what’s bothering them, without avoiding the issue, and without lying about being bothered in the first place. Even while young, discarded feelings of negativity can grow wildly if left unaddressed, but Clarkson intends to avoid such a turnout with her own offspring. At least as long as they’re in her custody. 

Listening can sometimes be the most important job a parent can have, and Kelly Clarkson can personally relate to the mindstate that her kids are potentially tethered to, as her parents also split when she was younger. In her words:

The talk show host, who took over a key daytime time slot following the end of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, has spoken in the past about the toxic behavior she witnessed from her father. She spent many years working to distance herself from that world, and remained estranged from him at the time of his death in 2018. It doesn't seem like her working relationship with Blackstock is a whole lot healther than that one, but she knows how important it is to keep the peace with him for the sake of their youngins. 

Earlier in the podcast episode, after Clarkson pegged her emotional state as being at a maxed-out 11, Angie Martinez asked what the key, number one way was for the Grammy winner to keep herself in that mental zone. According to Clarkson:

For an entertainer with one job that basically requires her to get into silly arguments with Blake Shelton, it's vaguely ironic for the above to be something of a mantra at this point in her life. To that end, though, having faux tiffs with genuine friends is always going to be a lot easier to handle than down-and-out rows with an ex-spouse.  So here's hoping time is also helping to heal all wounds in the Clarkson household, as well as some good ol' country crooning from the celeb herself.

Everything seems to be coming up Kelly Clarkson lately. The Season 1 American Idol winner is set to return to The Voice this March, her revamped talk show won seven Daytime Emmys in 2022, she’s about to release her first new album of original songs in years, and she even managed to take some time off to spend with her kids after her divorce was finalized. With so much behind her, there’s even more ahead, and one might wonder if love is one of the things her future holds. Clarkson definitely has thoughts on that, and offered a blunt response to an inquiry into her current dating life.

Kelly Clarkson spoke with Access Daily about her upcoming album, which she said will include some of the 60(ish) songs she wrote in the midst of her divorce from Brandon Blackstock. The “Breakaway” singer said the album took so long to put together, because she had to get through the split and process all of those emotions before she could release them into the world. When host Mario Lopez asked if, now that she’s done that, dating was even on her radar right now, she quickly responded: 

The hosts laughed, as Kelly Clarkson proceeded to recall advice from her therapist and even her thoughts about getting married again in the future. She continued: 

It is great to hear that Kelly Clarkson is happy with where she’s at right now, with or without the romance. Even when her therapist suggested she could start dating, it doesn’t sound like she found the prospect so appealing. 

Who could really blame her, after the long and painful process she endured to end her marriage to Reba McEntire’s stepson? Not only were multiple lawsuits filed between the parties, but she and Brandon Blackstock fought over everything from custody of the kids to the validity of their prenuptial agreement to what to do with their Montana ranch.

The Emmy winner has been pretty candid about her situation on The Kelly Clarkson Show. She shared some wine with Kaley Cuoco last January as they talked about their respective divorces, and she really empathized with Khloé Kardashian when the Hulu reality star spoke about learning to “un-love” someone.

While Kelly Clarkson has said she has no regrets about her marriage to Brandon Blackstock, her comments to Access Daily regarding getting remarried fall in line with statements she’s made before, and it doesn’t sound like a second marriage is anything she’s interested in. On the Love Someone podcast with Delilah last year, she said she’d be open to love again, however, the singer said, “I do know I won’t get married again.”

Kelly Clarkson has a lot people in her corner, and all that really matters is that she continues doing whatever makes her and her kiddos the happiest. It’s been a big year for Kelly Clarkson and her daytime talk show, as she took over the time slot previously held by Ellen DeGeneres (and Oprah Winfrey before that). The Kelly Clarkson Show also won seven Daytime Emmy Awards in 2022, including for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host. Even bigger changes seem to be on the horizon for the OG American Idol winner, as her show is potentially moving to the East Coast, but coming on the heels of her divorce settlement, would that affect her custody agreement with Brandon Blackstock?

The Kelly Clarkson Show is in negotiations to move production to the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, Variety reports. Nothing has been finalized, but an NBCUniversal spokesperson confirmed to the trade that Kelly Clarkson was the one who requested that the network look into moving the show — which has already been renewed through 2025 — outside of Los Angeles.

As far as her custody arrangement with Brandon Blackstock, however, it’s unlikely to have much of an impact, as Kelly Clarkson has primary custody of 8-year-old River Rose and 6-year-old Remington Alexander. Per the terms of their divorce agreement — which was finally settled last March, nearly two years after the “Since U Been Gone Singer” filed to end her marriage — Blackstock gets the kids one weekend per month, with the singer paying $45,000 in child support to her ex-husband. He can also travel to visit them on a non-regular basis.

Following the divorce and all the drama that surrounded the former couple’s ranch in Montana, Brandon Blackstock purchased his own bachelor pad in Big Sky Country. Kelly Clarkson took part of the summer off, spending time in Montana and enjoying the co-parenting routine they were able to come up with by being in the same state. If and when The Kelly Clarkson Show heads east, that will likely mean longer flights are in store for the little ones.

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock seem to have gotten into the groove of co-parenting, at least as far as how the former couple splits up their holidays with their little ones. The F-bomb-dropping talk show host spent Christmas with their kids, while Blackstock gets them every Thanksgiving. Fans of Clarkson know just how much Christmas means to her, and how much her divorce played into all the holiday music she’s released in the past couple of years.

The singer’s talk show has filmed at the Universal lot in Los Angeles since it premiered in 2019. The plan would be to move production following the end of its current season, and Variety reports that the show hopes to keep as much of its current crew on board as possible. The Kelly Clarkson Show is certainly no stranger to the East Coast. For the past two seasons, the singer has filmed special premiere week episodes in New York City.

While the custody arrangement shouldn’t be impacted too much, should the daytime TV hit move, Kelly Clarkson’s position as a coach on The Voice would seemingly be in question. After taking Season 22 off of the NBC singing competition — which films in Los Angeles — Clarkson is set to return for Blake Shelton’s goodbye season when the show resumes March 6. Following Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstocks’ ugly two-year divorce, which was finalized in March, the singer opened up about one of the major realities that now comes with the holiday season. The former couple shares two kids -- 8-year-old River Rose and 6-year-old Remington -- and with the holiday season in full swing, the singer got real about how she and her ex have handled the holidays post-divorce.  

Clarkson was chatting with Jewel, who has been divorced for seven years, about which holidays they get with the kids, and which ones their exes get. The talk show host explained how she splits the holidays with her Blackstock, saying on The Kelly Clarkson Show that her ex gets them for Thanksgiving, and she gets them for Christmas: 

Jewel revealed how she splits the holidays the same way. As the singer/actress elaborated on her custody agreement, Clarkson chimed in, noting the difficulties of not seeing her kids every holiday. However, she also talked about the silver lining of it all:  

While Clarkson appreciates the me time now, she also opened up about how hard it was to make the adjustment, saying: 

During the year, as the couple's divorce agreement states, the kids live full-time with Clarkson in Los Angeles. They also visit their father in Montana for one weekend each month. 

Amid the legal battles that have been ongoing for years now, Clarkson took a season off from The Voice and spent the summer in Montana working out a routine with Blackstock. (This property in Montana was a major point of contention during their divorce.) However, with Blackstock staying in Montana, after moving to a new bachelor pad, the “Stronger” singer went up North for the season so their kids could spend time with both parents without traveling as much. 

Following this past summer, Clarkson returned to Los Angeles to film her revamped talk show, which took the timeslot of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on the 2022 TV schedule. She will also return to The Voice on the 2023 TV schedule. 

While the divorce was ugly and Kelly Clarkson is still in legal battles with Blackstock’s family, specifically his father Narvel Blackstock, it sounds like the agreement the two made about the holidays works well for them. One would think that Clarkson has some fun things planned for her brood, and it wouldn't be surprising if she posts about it at some point in the coming week.

Kelly Clarkson has been open about how tough the past couple of years have been for her. In 2020 she filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock, embarking on two years of court battles with her ex and his family that will extend into 2023, despite her divorce being finalized in March. For a songwriter like Clarkson, there’s no way she could go through such an emotional time and not have it translate into her music. However, it turns out that while she was trying to navigate all of her complex feelings about the end of her marriage, she was also able to find a different kind of outlet through her Christmas music. 

Next year, the OG American Idol winner is set to release her first studio album of original music since 2017. Kelly Clarkson spoke with Variety about all of the emotions she’s felt over the past two years, saying she needed to process her experiences a bit before eternalizing them in album form. That need for a pause had the unintended benefit — for fans and for Clarkson — of additional Christmas music from the artist. She explained: 

I don’t see anything wrong with choosing to focus on something happier like the holidays, rather than relive the heartbreak of what went down with Brandon Blackstock. It’s not like her 2021 Christmas album When Christmas Comes Around… didn’t hint at her personal life anyway, with the first single being a ditty called “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You).” The mix of original songs and covers also includes her popular duet with fellow former coach on The Voice, Ariana Grande, “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me.”

Whatever genre of music Kelly Clarkson is writing, there’s no denying the emotion she puts into it. She estimates that while going through her divorce, she’s written “like, 60 songs,” which was therapeutic, regardless of how many of those end up being included on her upcoming album. 

The biggest struggle Kelly Clarkson may have had in filtering through all of those songs she’s written was figuring out what to share and what to keep private, knowing that her children are going to hear it. She said that’s been the hardest thing to navigate — trying to be completely honest but knowing there are other people involved.

It sounds like whatever she chooses, the star's fans are in for some gut-wrenching emotion when her new album drops in 2023, and until then, she’s given us plenty of Christmas songs to enjoy. Reality star Khloé Kardashian made an appearance on Kelly Clarkson’s talk show this week, and after everything she and the singer have been through with their exes, you better believe they had some stuff to talk about. Clarkson finalized her divorce from Brandon Blackstock earlier this year, as Kardashian broke up with Tristan Thompson in late 2021 after learning he’d fathered a child with another woman. The two women bonded over their experiences, as Clarkson adorably sought advice on how to “un-love” somebody.

Kelly Clarkson welcomed the new mom of two onto The Kelly Clarkson Show on October 27, where she asked Khloé Kardashian about comments she’d made on her family’s Hulu reality show about getting over Tristan Thompson after his latest cheating scandal. The host joked that she was asking for a friend and hilariously requested a pen and paper to take notes, before commenting: 

Khloé Kardashian definitely seemed to empathize with Kelly Clarkson, and responded that she even still loves her ex-husband, Lamar Odom, despite what he put her through with his own infidelity and substance abuse issues. She told the singer: 

Kelly Clarkson agreed, saying there’s no switch that can be flipped to turn those feelings off. The American Idol champion filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock in 2020 after seven years of marriage. Their divorce was filled with contention, with both sides filing lawsuits against each other, and the former couple battling over everything from custody to property. Drama over Clarkson’s ranch in Montana continued for months after the divorce settlement was reached.

Khloé Kardashian, meanwhile, learned that Maralee Nichols was pregnant with Tristan Thompson’s son just days after they’d conceived their own child via surrogate. Kardashian’s journey over the months between their breakup and the birth of their son was chronicled on the Season 2 premiere of The Kardashians, and the reality star told Kelly Clarkson that because the NBA player had been her best friend and the person she called for everything, it’s hard to reprogram, despite knowing that the relationship is not right for her. After playing a fairly significant role in Season 1 of the Hulu reality series, Tristan Thompson has (not surprisingly) been absent for Season 2, which has primarily documented the family’s lives in the months following their breakup. Fans of The Voice were disappointed when Kelly Clarkson announced she wouldn’t be returning for Season 22 this fall, but with everything else going on in the singer’s life, who could blame her? The talk show host took her first summer off since she was 16 years old, following two years of divorce drama with Brandon Blackstock. As she returned to the Montana ranch that caused so many problems for the former couple, Clarkson was apparently able to work out a routine so that River Rose and Remington could enjoy having both of their parents in the same state for the summer.

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock fought at length over the Montana property during their divorce proceedings. However, rather than being a source of bad memories, it seems the ranch was a place of solace for her and the kids after what she told NBC’s morning show Today was “a rough couple of years.” With Blackstock staying in Montana but moving into a new pricey bachelor pad, the children were able to spend time with both parents more easily over their summer break. Clarkson said: 

I can imagine not having to fly 8-year-old River and 6-year-old Remington back and forth between Montana and Los Angeles — where they live most of the time with their mom — was easier on all involved, and it sounds like the exes found a situation to provide their children with some stability.

The getaway sounds like it was healing for Kelly Clarkson as well, as she talked about four-wheeling in the mountains and spending time in nature with her sister and nephew, just allowing herself to shut down. After the nightmare quarantine conditions she apparently went through during COVID, on top of the court battles with her ex over the property, it’s nice to hear she was still able to enjoy her ranch.

Even after Brandon Blackstock was ordered in their divorce settlement to move off of the property by June 1, he reportedly continued to cause trouble for the former Voice coach. He even brought her back to court in the weeks leading up to his eviction to get Kelly Clarkson to turn off the security cameras at the ranch.

With summer over and kids heading back to school, Kelly Clarkson is preparing for the Season 4 premiere of her daytime talk show, which will reportedly be revamped as it takes over the timeslot vacated by The Ellen DeGeneres Show. As the saying — and Kelly Clarkson’s 2011 hit — goes, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and if the singer ever is able to free herself from the legal battles being waged with the Blackstock family, she should be damn near unbreakable. Since filing for divorce from Brandon Blackstock in 2020, the former Voice coach has been in and out of court, fighting several contentious issues with her now-ex-husband. Even after Clarkson’s divorce was finalized in March 2022, there are still matters that remain unsettled; however, it’s the legal battles with her former father-in-law Narvel Blackstock that are going to extend the legal proceedings into 2023, which means she's going to have spent time across four calendar years dealing with this.

In September 2020 — just months after Kelly Clarkson filed to end her seven-year marriage to Brandon Blackstock — she was hit with a major lawsuit by Starstruck Management, Narvel Blackstock’s company, which alleged that the American Idol winner owed millions of dollars in unpaid commissions for her work on The Voice and The Kelly Clarkson Show. She, in turn, countersued, saying that her husband and father-in-law acted as unlicensed talent agents on her behalf, making their verbal agreement for commissions “unenforceable.” Two years later it looks like no progress has been made, as The Sun reports the next hearing on the case is set to take place on March 27, 2023.

With the battle between the two parties continuing into another year, a new judge, the Honorable Wendy Chang, has been assigned to the case. In March she will hear a status conference of stay action "pending determination of controversy before California Labor Commissioner," per the site, who has reportedly seen the court documents that were filed in Los Angeles.

Starstruck Management Group has said Kelly Clarkson owes them “at least $5,430,122.54 in estimated commissions” after breaching her verbal contract, which stipulated that she pay 15% of all commissions earned to the company. However, the singer made some major accusations against the Blackstocks in her labor petition, not only saying that Brandon and Narvel acted illegally as her agents but accusing them of giving false information and charging her “unconscionable fees and compensation” for their allegedly illegal services. 

Therefore not only is she saying she doesn’t owe them any money, but she is asking that Starstruck Management repays her the amount they earned by way of her employment — which includes all contracts, commissions, fees, and other profits made from her work.

The past couple of years has been tough on the talk show host, fighting with her ex-husband over everything from custody of their two kids to division of assets to the security cameras at her ranch in Montana. The judge assigned to Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s case was actually asked to delay his retirement because there were still “issues that need to be settled.”

It’s no wonder the “Stronger” singer chose to take a step back from The Voice in order to spend the summer with her the kiddos, Remington and River Rose, especially as a major revamp is expected for The Kelly Clarkson Show when it returns this fall. One would have hoped that Kelly Clarkson’s divorce drama would be over after Brandon Blackstock moved off of her ranch in Montana and into his new bachelor pad. While the Montana property was only one of many issues the couple has fought over in the two years since the singer filed for divorce in June 2020, it often seemed to be the biggest point of contention. Alas, the legal battles are not over, despite their divorce being finalized in March, and the former couple’s ongoing struggles have now even forced the presiding judge to delay his retirement.

Justice Scott Gordon, the private judge appointed to help Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock resolve their case last year, was set to step down at the end of June, according to DailyMail. However, he’s now been asked to put off his retirement because of still-unresolved disputes between the former spouses. The media site reports:

A number of details were agreed on when the American Idol winner and Reba McEntire’s stepson came to a settlement in March. The couple’s property, including not just the ranch but also livestock, guns and several vehicles (including a Ford firetruck), was divided between them, as well as monetary stipulations. Kelly Clarkson agreed to pay her ex-husband a one-time payment of $1.3 million, monthly spousal support in the amount of $115,000 and $45,000 a month in child support.

It’s unknown what issues remain to be worked out, but Heavy reported that they are due back in court this month to resolve another undisclosed dispute, prompting the need for Scott Gordon to extend his term as judge through the end of July. Let's all hope that judge didn't have any extremely timely retirement party plans for the middle of this month.

This isn’t the first legal battle for the talk show host and music manager-turned-rancher since their March settlement. Brandon Blackstock was allowed to remain on Kelly Clarkson’s Montana ranch until June 1 of this year, and in the weeks prior to his move, he filed paperwork in court to demand that his ex-wife turn off the property’s 13 security cameras while he was still living there and show proof as to how that was accomplished.

As the former Voice coach takes the summer off to spend time with her children, Brandon Blackstock has moved into his new digs in Butte, Montana. His new bachelor pad is a 4,800 square-foot house with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms that listed for $1.8 million and includes a chef’s kitchen with butler’s pantry and wine refrigerator, an outdoor kitchen, a steam room, three wells, a shop, a barn with a loft, a greenhouse and a three-car garage.

Hopefully whatever issues he and Kelly Clarkson have left to solve can be done quickly and easily, not just for the sake of the couple who have struggled with this for the past two years, but for Scott Gordon, so the judge can begin to enjoy his retirement! 

While we won’t see Kelly Clarkson on the upcoming season of The Voice, fans will be able to see her completely revamped talk show when The Kelly Clarkson Show takes over the time slot vacated by Ellen DeGeneres. On top of multiple on-screen projects, including her daytime talk show and winning another season of The Voice, the American Idol champion was caught up in a contentious divorce with Brandon Blackstock. One really can’t blame the singer for putting her music career on the back burner with everything else going on. While she hasn’t released a traditional studio album — save for her Christmas collection — since 2017, her divorce apparently inspired a wild amount of songwriting output.

The Kelly Clarkson Show host finally finalized her divorce from Reba McEntire’s stepson in March, after nearly two years of fights over custody of their children and the division of their property — particularly their ranch in Montana. Kelly Clarkson has spoken a lot about how she’s dealt with such a painful time for her family, and music has — not surprisingly — played a huge role. In fact, she told ET exactly how much has come out of her using writing as a release. In her words:

It’s unlikely that anyone will ever hear all of the dozens of songs Kelly Clarkson has penned since splitting with Brandon Blackstock, but fans are certainly hoping to get a good dose on a new album sooner than later. (And the pettier, the better, if you ask me!) It sounds like there’s definitely an album in the works, and the “Stronger” singer has been open about how hard it is to navigate getting her feelings out while still respecting the other people involved, particularly the two children she shares with her ex.

Kelly Clarkson’s 2021 Christmas album When Christmas Comes Around — which featured covers and duets in addition to some new music — seemed to tap into some of the emotion she’s experienced with Brandon Blackstock. At least if the single “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You)” is anything to judge things by.

The same goes for her new cover album Kellyoke, an offshoot of the popular segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Kelly Clarkson’s version of Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever” is featured, after the former Voice coach made headlines on her talk show by changing some of the lyrics in an apparent shot at her ex-husband.

It’s more than understandable that the mother of two would put her children’s feelings first when it comes to deciding which of those “60 songs” to release for public consumption, but her putting such raw emotion into her music likely makes for some quality content, and we can’t wait to see what she releases next. 

While we won’t see Kelly Clarkson on the upcoming season of The Voice, fans will be able to see her completely revamped talk show when she takes over the time slot vacated by Ellen DeGeneres. Is it possible that the Montana ranch drama is finally over for Kelly Clarkson? Even though her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock had moved off of the property by the beginning of June, as their divorce settlement required, the music manager reportedly continued to be “a thorn in her side” and even allegedly considered continuing to fight Clarkson over the ranch in court. However, Reba McEntire’s stepson has now found a new bachelor pad, so maybe the family can begin to get some actual closure.

Brandon Blackstock’s new digs were reportedly purchased on April 18, according to a deed transfer obtained after the fact by Us Weekly, but it’s unknown when, or even if, Blackstock moved in. The 4,800 square-foot house in Butte, Montana was listed for $1.8 million, though the actual purchase price was not reported. While Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband surely ended up paying a pretty penny for the new estate, the 4-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home is still a notable downgrade from the Montana ranch, which the American Idol champion purchased in 2019 for $10.4 million.  

The listing on Berkshire Hathaway HomeService’s website reports that Brandon Blackstock’s home features expansive windows to capture the panoramic views, a chef’s kitchen with butler’s pantry and wine refrigerator, an outdoor kitchen, a steam room, three wells, a shop, a barn with a loft, a greenhouse and a three-car garage. (What, no pool? Though I guess there are three wells.)

The house sits on over 40 acres of land in a reportedly “very private” setting, and as Brandon Blackstock also recently renamed his cattle ranching business from Vintage Valley Ranch (his previous residence) to V Bar V Cattle Co., it would seem he’s taking steps to further limit his time the entertainment industry to pursue ranching full time. Blackstock was awarded all of the couple’s livestock in the divorce settlement.

Though Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s divorce was filled with contention over everything from their business dealings to custody of their two children to their prenup, it was the Montana ranch that seemed to cause the biggest headache. The drama between Kelly Clarkson and her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, has been ongoing for two years. The talk show host filed to end her marriage to Reba McEntire’s stepson in June 2020, and the divorce proceedings have been rife with lawsuits, custody disagreements and fights over the division of their assets. The issue that seemed to cause most of the trouble for the couple was their Montana ranch and, although it looked like that had been settled, with the court ruling that Blackstock had to vacate the property by June 1, he apparently continues to cause problems.

Kelly Clarkson and the music manager reached a settlement in their divorce in March. While a judge ruled that Brandon Blackstock couldn’t be evicted from the property due to his financial circumstances, the former Voice coach agreed to pay him a percentage of the ranch’s value (approximately $908,000), while he in turn had to pay $12,500 in rent monthly until he moved out. Sources told US Weekly that even though he has now left the ranch, Blackstock was not happy with the situation:

The producer was reportedly talked out of continuing to fight to stay on the property, where he maintained residence following the couple’s split. While he had expressed interest in leaving the music business and becoming a rancher, Kelly Clarkson said she wanted to sell the ranch, as she primarily resides in Los Angeles. 

While he may not have appealed the court’s decision, Brandon Blackstock did continue to fight with his ex-wife ahead of his move-out date. A month before he was to be out of the house, he filed paperwork in court to demand that the American Idol alum turn off the property’s 13 security cameras while he was still living there and show proof as to how that was accomplished.

Now that her ex-husband has moved off of the ranch, Kelly Clarkson said she’s planning to spend some time there this summer with her children, as she officially announced she was taking the summer off and not returning for Season 22 of The Voice. According to US Weekly’s source, Brandon Blackstock will stay in Montana as well, and will still have access to the property. The source said:

Co-parenting might be made easier this summer if both of River and Remy’s parents are, in fact, planning to spend time in Montana. Their arrangement per the divorce settlement has the kids staying with their mother, with their father getting them one weekend per month. The singer pays her ex-husband over $45,000 monthly in child support, as well as $115,000 monthly in spousal support. 

The host of The Kelly Clarkson Show has seen a number of changes in the past year. Amid her divorce she changed her legal name to Kelly Brianne, saying it better reflected who she is now, and she’s reportedly in the process of completely overhauling her talk show ahead of taking over the time slot vacated by Ellen DeGeneres. It’s good that she has a support system in place, because Kelly Clarkson’s journey to divorce hasn’t been easy. She finalized her separation from talent manager Brandon Blackstock in March, but the proceedings began way back in 2020. She initially filed for divorce in the summer of June 2020 after quarantining with Blackstock at their Montana ranch (which became part of the settlement), but the court battles would continue for nearly two years. The couple had two children together, River and Remington, for whom Kelly Clarkson was granted primary custody. 

In addition to custody battles, Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock have been at odds concerning their finances and other settlements. Kelly Clarkson was made to pay spousal and child support, while Brandon Blackstock attempted to keep the Montana ranch. Clarkson was later granted most of the couple’s assets, including the ranch property, which Blackstock was required to vacate by June 2022. Amidst the divorce proceedings, Kelly Clarkson also changed her legal name to Kelly Brianne. 

But just like her hit song, Kelly Clarkson has managed to come out stronger. She won’t be returning to The Voice anytime soon, but her talk show will be taking over Ellen DeGeneres’ prime daytime slot. She’s also set to release the upcoming EP Kellyoke, which will feature covers of songs like “Happier Than Ever” by Billie Eilish and “Queen of the Night” by Whitney Houston.

However, the fight continued when the former coach of The Voice said she wanted to sell the property, and Brandon Blackstock wanted to continue living there. Ultimately a settlement was reached that gave Reba McEntire’s stepson until June 1 to find another place to live. In the weeks leading up to that deadline, however, Blackstock had his ex-wife back in court, according to legal documents, ordering that she turn off the security cameras while he was still living there: 

The court documents (via The Blast) reportedly did not specify any events that led to the request or if Brandon Blackstock had reason to believe Kelly Clarkson was accessing the security footage. The Blast’s sources say it was simply about privacy, with Blackstock wanting to live his own life without Clarkson being able to watch him. All cameras were allegedly pointed at the home’s exterior, with none showing the inside of the residence.

Around the time of this court order, the daytime talk show host shared a bewildering photo of a black hole that appeared in the ground of her Montana ranch. While Kelly Clarkson joked about it being an Outer Range situation, many fans warned her to keep her distance — be it for practical reasons like a possible sinkhole, or for theories a little more sci-fi in nature.

I’m not sure what a black hole like that does to property values, but regardless, if Kelly Clarkson still wants to sell the ranch, she will presumably be able to do that and whatever she wants — including with the security cameras — in the coming days.

The OG American Idol winner said she just “found” the hole, which is an interesting turn of phrase. Did it appear overnight? Was it hiding behind a leaf? I don’t know, but this all sounds suspicious. Kelly Clarkson said she’s getting Outer Range vibes, and it definitely sounds like the setup for Amazon Prime Video’s new sci-fi neo-Western series, in which Josh Brolin’s Royal Abbott discovers a black void on his Wyoming cattle ranch that turns out to be a portal to...other things. Kelly, please back away from the hole!

She’s obviously joking about being curious as to when and where she’d end up if she jumped in the hole, but asking who came out of it is just too terrifying, and it had some commenters on the post making comparisons to the highly underrated ‘90s movie Tremors. 

Kelly Clarkson’s presence at the ranch does beg the question of what she plans to do with the Montana property once Brandon Blackstock moves out, which he is required to do, per their settlement, by June 1. She previously had expressed interest in selling it, and I wonder what “mysterious black hole with possible sci-fi ramifications” would do to the property value. If it turns out to be a bottomless pit, my money is on a live-action Gravity Falls happening.

Either way, many fans on social media expressed their concern for the American Song Contest host, begging her to stay far away from the opening in case of a sinkhole or other collapsing areas around it. I’m with them — when faced with holes of unknown origin, it’s probably best to keep your distance.

Hopefully she’ll get some answers soon about her latest ranch drama (and hopefully she’ll share those answers with her curious followers), because Kelly Clarkson has a lot going on in her life. Hollywood star Christina Ricci has experienced quite the positive career resurgence as of late, thanks in part to the critical acclaim and popularity earned by her Showtime thriller Yellowjackets. Things haven’t been quite as celebratory in certain sections of her private life, however, as she’s been in the midst of a difficult split from her ex-husband James Heerdegen that has been ongoing for nearly two years. Now, however, Ricci and Heerdegen may finally be on the way to an official conclusion, and it involves the same judge that handled Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s high-profile divorce and its many financial agreements.

Ricci reportedly still has a restraining order placed against James Heerdegen, as she’d accused him of various instances of domestic abuse when initially filing for divorce. (He has denied such allegations, claiming her to be the abuser.) But the bad blood may soon be drying up now, as Radar reports the pair informed the L.A. court that they chose to go the private route by hiring former Los Angeles Superior Court judge Scott Gordon. 

The well-established legal figure entering the equation is as good a sign as any that Ricci and Heerdegen aim to put their personal issues aside in order to work toward a faster resolution. The new court documents reportedly disclosed the respective actress and producer hammered out details regarding childcare and custody related to Christina Ricci’s busy work schedule. 

It’s stated that James Heerdegen agreed for their son Frederick to travel with her to a production shoot in the U.K. from March through April, which followed a filming shoot in Romania, which itself followed another project being shot in California in January and February. What’s more, Ricci also agreed to foot the costs for Heerdegen’s legal fees, which come out to around $10,000.

Considering how long Christina Ricci and James Heerdegen have been handling this legal battle — she has already since remarried and had a child with new hubby, hair stylist Mark Hampton — it’s safe to assume that bringing Scott Gordon in as a hire was a major step in the right direction. Even if some of the extenuating circumstances regarding their divorce remain unresolved, it’s likely that everyone involved would prefer to put it all to bed as opposed to keeping things contentious ad infinitum. 

Scott Gordon has a history of handling cases involving Hollywood entertainers, having presided over custody cases for Mel Gibson and Britney Spears in the years before he retired from the L.A. Superior Court. His work with Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s divorce was a headline-maker, since the Grammy-winning talk show host and her ex were tangled up over property ownership and rent issues for months ahead of their settlement. 

When TV viewers see Christina Ricci on TV again, they will be looking at a woman who thankfully isn’t dealing with divorce mess anymore. (Assuming nothing else comes up in the interim.) But will that come in the form of Yellowjackets Season 2 on Showtime, or via her return to the world of the Addams Family with Tim Burton’s upcoming Netflix dramedy Wednesday?

That’s why it was such a shock to find out that amidst her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, The Voice coach had decided to legally change her name to Kelly Brianne, going just by her first and middle names. It might not be as drastic as it seemed at first, though, as Clarkson recently took the time to clarify the name change.

The Idol alum has to be one of Hollywood's busiest TV personalities, as she typically juggles her daytime talk show with coaching duties on the aforementioned reality competition series. However, since NBC began airing just one season of The Voice a year, the crossover singer has joined forces with Snoop Dogg to host an NBC singing competition of a different sort. American Song Contest debuted on March 21 (and who knew Snoop was a fan of K-Pop?), with Clarkson taking the opportunity on the red carpet to clarify her previously requested name change. At the time that she filed the name change paperwork, she said Kelly Brianne more fully reflected who she was. Personally, I am all for the act of personal empowerment, especially after the long and hard divorce battle she’s been through.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Brandon Blackstock will receive a substantial one-time, tax-free payment in the amount of $1,326,161 from his ex. Furthermore, he will be getting $115,000 per month in spousal support (which has been slightly amended from the original total that angered Kelly Clarkson’s fanbase online last year). The American Idol winner only has to pay that support until January 31, 2024, though the $45K monthly child support payments will be upheld until their two children (ages 5 and 7) turn 18.

Custody issues were hammered out in the proceedings, with the two kids living full-time with Kelly Clarkson in Los Angeles, and visiting their father one weekend each month. Apparently, a clause was put into the agreement that the children had to be vaccinated from COVID-19 due to the visitation travel. Clarkson also agreed to pay Brandon Blackstock $50,000 in reimbursement for the kids’ private air travel arrangements.

The divorce settlement also stipulates who gets certain personal items. Though Brandon Blackstock is getting all the livestock associated with their ranch, Kelly Clarkson will receive “all guns acquired prior and during the marriage” for family hunting purposes. Additionally, she gets to keep a Can-Am 4-wheeler and “bush hog” rotary mower for her outdoorsy needs. The Voice judge is likewise making off with several vehicles: a pickup truck, a Ford fire truck, a Ford Bronco, a Ford F-250, as well as a Porshe Cayenne.

Fate Of Kelly Clarkson's Contentious Montana Ranch

Previously, it was ruled in Kelly Clarkson’s favor that the couple’s hotly debated Montana ranch home would go to her in the divorce. There was a hold-up, though, when the judge decided that Brandon Blackstock could not be evicted from the property, as was hoped, due to his financial circumstances at the time. The “Since U Been Gone” singer would later settle by agreeing to give her ex-husband 5.12% of the property value (approximately $908K).

It isn’t clear if the reported final lump sum payment is just a new estimated approximation for the owed property value percentage. Nevertheless, the talk show host's now-former hubby seemingly has to pay her to live on the property until June when he’s expected to move out. (There are some discrepancies in exactly how much the monthly rent actually is, with The Blast reporting $2K and TMZ reporting $12.5K.)

All in all, Brandon Blackstock appears to be getting a lot of money out of the final arrangement one way or another. But with the divorce now behind her, at least Kelly Clarkson can make a new start by presumably driving off into the sunset in her Ford fire truck or Porshe or any which car she chooses, firing celebratory gun shots as she goes. She also just might be making a big change in her legal name…
