It's been two years since The Flash ended, though the show is still discussed in some circles. There are also die-hard fans out there who'd like to see Grant Gustin reprise his role as one of TV's best characters. Of course, I'd love to see the rest of the OG Team Flash return in some way. While not too long ago, a chunk of the cast agreed they'd be up for a movie, it sounds like series veteran Carlos Valdes may still need some convincing.

Valdes' character, Cisco Ramon was written out of The Flash at the end of Season 7, with the actor saying, at the time, that he felt like it was a good stopping point for the character. He recently caught up with People after doing some work on Broadway and, when asked about returning to some sort of revival, admitted he had some "mixed feelings" in regard to whether he wants to reprise his Arrowverse role:

Carlos Valdes spent seven seasons on The Flash, so it's not surprising to hear that he'd have some nostalgic feelings and fond memories that would encourage him to go back. Plus, given he's been on the convention circuit at times, I'm sure he's more than aware Cisco remains a well-loved character by the fans, and many were upset to see Cisco leave the series before the show signed off with Season 9.

The first part of Valdes' statement sounds very positive and seems to give the impression that he would jump at the chance to play the character-- who was also known as the hero Vibe -- again. That said, the Gaslit alum's other sentiments make it sound like he's leaning more towards not returning:

That doesn't sound like someone who's just waiting on an offer to return to The Flash, but it's understandable. The Arrowverse marked a special time for DCTV and, now that Superman and Lois has concluded, that era of programming is officially done. Also, upcoming DC projects either involve the burgeoning DCU continuity or other timelines entirely.

That being said, nostalgia can be powerful and, in an age where fans have seen so many TV shows make comebacks, can we ever fully rule out The Flash having a reunion of some kind? As a fan, I would love to see it happen, if only because it's still a shame that 2023's The Flash didn't even feature a Grant Gustin cameo.

Right now, the odds of the Gustin-led show returning feel so low that it feels silly to even ask Carlos Valdes the question. I would be curious to hear his thoughts if a potential follow-up was actually greenlit or reportedly in discussions, at the very least. Regardless, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that fans will see these versions of Cisco, Barry Allen and co. again at some point.

In 2012, Arrow premiered on The CW and kicked off a shared universe of DC Comics properties on television. The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Batwoman and Black Lightning followed, and for nearly a decade, this franchise delivered interconnected stories that channeled the same appeal that their comic book source material had been doing for decades. Many superheroes were featured in the Arrowverse, but we’re here to talk about 32 that had major roles in the franchise.

Before going further, there are some stipulations to point out. First, these characters need to have been established in the comics as superheroes before they were introduced in the Arrowverse, hence why characters like Nia Nal/Dreamer, Sara Lance/White Canary and John Diggle/Spartan aren’t on here. Second, these characters need to be chiefly known as heroes in the comics, which is why the likes of Captain Cold, Heat Wave and Killer Frost won’t be mentioned. Finally, we’re only covering the six live-action shows that made up the main Arrowverse continuity, both pre and post-“Crisis on Infinite Earths,” so don’t go looking for people from shows like Superman & Lois and Stargirl.

Green Arrow

Arrow starred Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, and while he initially went by The Hood and The Arrow, this version of Oliver finally started going by Green Arrow in Season 4. In addition to his eight seasons leading Arrow, Amell’s Oliver participated in all the biggest Arrowverse crossover events. He died in “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” but fans got to reunite with him in the Arrow series finale and The Flash episode “It's My Party and I'll Die If I Want To.”

The Flash

Oliver Queen may have ushered in the Arrowverse, but it wasn’t until Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen got struck by that bolt of lightning that this franchise started getting truly fantastical and fully embracing its superhero roots. Barry protected the citizens of Central City for nine seasons of The Flash, and he was also present for every big Arrowverse crossover event. This Barry also had the unique privilege of being the only Arrowverse hero to cross over with the DCEU, as he met Ezra Miller’s Flash in “Crisis on Infinite Earths.”

Supergirl

Although Supergirl originally debuted on CBS, it was established to take part in the wider Arrowverse continuity when Barry Allen traveled to the Earth of Melissa Benoist’s Kara Danvers late in Season 1. Those ties only grew stronger once the show moved to The CW, and from there, Kara rounded out the Arrowverse’s main trinity of superheroes with Barry and Oliver Queen. At the end of “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” Kara’s Earth merged with the franchise’s main Earth, so Supergirl concluded its six-season run in the same world where the majority of her superhero cohorts now live.

Batwoman

Initially Batwoman starred Ruby Rose as Kate Kane, the same character who holds the mantle in the comics. However, following Rose’s exit post-Season 1, Ryan Wilder (seen above) was created to take over as the vigilante, with Javicia Leslie being cast to play her. Batwoman only lasted three seasons, but both Kate (later played by Wallis Day) and Ryan still stood out as important heroes before, during and after that time, with the former appearing in both the “Elseworlds” and “Crisis on Infinite Earths crossovers,” and the latter both reprising her role on The Flash and playing an evil speedster version of Ryan called Red Death early in Season 9.

Black Lightning

When Black Lightning came along, there was absolutely nothing connecting it to the Arrowverse. Jefferson Pierce’s return to superheroing unfolded in its own corner of the multiverse, but then “Crisis on Infinite Earths” came along and merged his Earth with the main Arrowverse Earth and Supergirl’s. Cress Williams would later reprise Jefferson for an episode of The Flash Season 8, but it was across Black Lightning’s four-season run where he shined best, with no one but the allies in his immediate circle on hand to help him out.

Black Canary

Five individuals held the Black Canary mantle in the Arrowverse: Sara Lance, the Laurel Lance from Earth-1, Evelyn Sharp, Dinah Drake (seen above), and the Laurel Lance from Earth-2. Of those five, the two Laurels and Dinah were able to unleash a sonic scream on their enemies, although Earth-1’s Laurel’s came from a device rather than as a metahuman ability like the other two. There had been plans for Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy to continue respectively playing Earth-2 Laurel and Dinah alongside Katherine McNamara’s Mia Smoak in a Green Arrow & The Canaries spinoff, but it was never picked up.

The Atom

Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer debuted at the beginning of Arrow Season 3, where he would unveil his A.T.O.M. exosuit. After initially having been presumed dead by the end of the season, Ray resurfaced in Season 4 having been revealed to be shrunken to the size of an atom, and he was able to incorporate shrinking into his exosuit. From there, he became one of the founding Legends of Tomorrow and stuck around on that show as a series regular until midway through Season 5.

Arsenal

By Arrow Season 3, Colton Haynes’ Roy Harper, who’d already appeared in the first two seasons, had taken up archery and joined Oliver Queen in fighting crime as Arsenal, though he was also called Red Arrow by the media. Although Roy had to leave Team Arrow that same season after he masqueraded as The Arrow and faked his death, he would still pop in and out of the show throughout the rest of Arrow’s run to help out his friends. He also followed in his comic book counterpart’s footsteps by gaining a cybernetic arm.

Speedy

The second Speedy in the comics was Mia Dearden, so it was only appropriate that Willa Holland's Thea Queen, who was a loose adaptation of the character, also received that name. When Roy left Star City, he left his Arsenal costume behind, and she made adjustments to it so she could wear it out in the field and join her brother Oliver as a bow-and-arrow-wielding superhero. Eventually she embarked on a personal crusade to battle the Thanatos Guild.

Vibe

Carlos Valdés’ Cisco Ramon was already a valued member of Team Flash at the beginning as its tech genius, but after he discovered he was a metahuman capable of manipulating dimensional energy, he became Vibe. Cisco took a metahuman cure in Season 5, but he continued to fight crime as Mecha-Vibe using a suit that provided him with some of his former powers until he left in Season 7 to join A.R.G.U.S.

Superman

I know, I said I wouldn’t include anybody from Superman & Lois on this list. However, in this case, I’m talking about the Superman from Earth-38/Earth-Prime. In other words, this is the Clark Kent who appeared on Supergirl and participated in “Elseworlds” and “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” We’d assumed he was also the one leading Superman & Lois until it was revealed that show is set on another Earth.

Martian Manhunter

Originally Supergirl viewers thought David Harewood was playing Hank Henshaw, the man who became Cyborg Superman in the comics. But early in Season 1, it was revealed that his character was actually J’onn J’onzz, a.k.a. Martian Manhunter, who assumed Henshaw’s identity to try and do good as the director of the Department of Extranormal Operations. Harewood would later play the sinister Henshaw for a few episodes, but it was J’onn who stuck around for all of Supergirl as one of Kara’s most important allies.

Elongated Man

Ralph Dibny gained his elastic powers from The Thinker’s machinations in The Flash Season 4, and after being stabilized, he joined Team Flash to help them fight crime as Elongated Man. Hartley Sawyer portrayed the character through to the end of Season 6, but after the actor was fired from the show, a stand-in performer was used for the Season 7 premiere. While healing from some major burns, Ralph decided to leave Team Flash to travel the world with Sue Dearbon and dismantle various criminal organizations.

Vixen

Although Mari McCabe, the Vixen from the comics, was played by Megalyn Echikunwoke in the Vixen and The Ray animated web series, as well as an episode of Arrow, it was the character’s grandmother, Amaya Jiwe (seen above), who got more attention in the Arroverse. An original character created for Legends of Tomorrow, Amaya, played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers, was active as Vixen during World War II as a Justice Society member, and after traveling through time with the Legends for a while, she returned to her original time period at the end of Season 3. Richardson-Sellers then stuck around a few more seasons as a shapeshifter named Charlie.

Firestorm

Just like in the comics, the Arrowverse’s original Firestorm duo consisted of Robbie Amell’s Ronnie Raymond and Victor Garber’s Martin Stein, with the two being recurring characters in The Flash Season 1. However, after Ronnie died in the Season 2 premiere, Stein merged a few episodes later with Franz Drameh’s Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (seen above), and the two went on to join the Legends of Tomorrow. That’s where they stayed until Stein died in the “Crisis on Earth X” crossover, prompting Jax to leave and resume his normal life.

John Constantine

Although NBC’s Constantine series only lasted one season, Matt Ryan was able to keep playing the trenchcoat-wearing sorcerer in multiple other ways, most notably in the Arrowverse. Following a guest appearance in Arrow Season 4, he returned two years later in Legends of Tomorrow, where he eventually became part of the team and hung around until the end of Season 6. Even then, Ryan remained on the series to play Gwyn Davies, the inventor of time travel.

Kid Flash

Depicted as Iris West’s long-lost brother rather than her nephew like in the comics, Keiynan Lonsdale’s Wally West was introduced midway through The Flash Season 2. After Season 3’s premiere showed him as the Kid Flash of the Flashpoint timeline, the main version of Wally gained super speed when Doctor Alchemy restored his powers from that other reality. Wally exited as a series regular at the beginning of The Flash Season 4, but would later make guest appearances in Seasons 6 and 9, as well as appearing in the latter half of Legends of Tomorrow Season 3.

Jay Garrick

After it was revealed that the Jay Garrick that viewers had been following along with in The Flash Season 2 was really the sinister Zoom, the real Jay was revealed at the end of that season to be a doppelgänger of Henry Allen from Earth-3. With John Wesley Shipp having played Barry Allen in The Flash TV show from 1990 (whom he also reprised in “Elseworlds and “Crisis on Infinite Earths”), it was only fitting that he also play this veteran speedster as well.

Thunder/Blackbird

If you’re making a show about Black Lightning, then it’s only appropriate that you include his superhero daughters too. The first of them was Nafessa Williams’ Anissa Pierce, a.k.a. Thunder, although there were also various instances where she went by the moniker Blackbird. Unlike her father and sister, Anissa didn’t generate and manipulate electricity, but rather was able to manipulate her density with her breathing, giving her super strength and durability.

Lightning

Like her superhero name clearly indicates, not only did Jennifer Pierce inherit the same kind of powers as her father, but she also had the added ability to generate electricity on her own rather than just manipulate it like Jefferson. China Anne McClain played Jennifer for the majority of Black Lightning’s run, but for a good chunk of Season 4, Laura Kariuki took over the role, though this was later revealed to be an ionosphere entity who stole her identity.

Mister Terrific

After being introduced in Arrow Season 4 as a Palmer Technologies employee who worked closely with Felicity Smoak, Echo Kellum’s Curtis Holt (rather than Michael Holt, like in the comics) officially joined Team Arrow at the beginning of Season 5, taking the identity Mr. Terrific, which had previously belonged to his favorite wrestler. Curtis stuck with the team until the end of Season 6, and from there he briefly worked for A.R.G.U.S., then took a job in Washington D.C.

Wild Dog

Instead of using Jack Wheeler from the comics, Arrow gave that superhero identity to the original character Rene Ramirez, played by Rick Gonzalez. Although frequently hotheaded, Rene was nonetheless another valued member of Team Arrow for many seasons, though there was a period where he, Curtis and Dinah formed their own group. Eventually, Rene retired from being Wild Dog and became mayor of Star City by the end of the show.

XS

While XS is indeed a character from the comics, The Flash’s version of her is a melding of her and Barry Allen’s daughter, who was known as Dawn in the comics. In this show, while it’s implied that’s what Jessica Parker Kennedy’s character used to be named too, changes to the timeline led to her being named Nora, after Barry’s mother. The original version of Kennedy’s Nora was erased from the timeline after Cicada’s dagger was destroyed, but fortunately, a new version of her came into being afterward.

Impulse

Rather than being Barry Allen’s grandson like in the comics, Jordan Fisher’s Bart Allen, a.k.a. Impulse, is depicted as Barry and Iris West’s son, i.e. Nora’s sister. Introduced towards the end of Season 7, and a speedster just like his father and Nora, Impulse shared a special connection with Jay Garrick and had already made an enemy out of Godspeed from his time period.

Guardian

In Supergirl, the Guardian mantle was held by the Olsen siblings rather than Jim Harper or Mal Duncan. James Olsen first started fighting crime as Guardian in Season 2, with Winn Schott making him his suit and shield. Then in Season 6, one season after Mehcad Brooks stopped playing James as a series regular, Azie Tesfai’s Kelly Olsen (seen above) took over as the new Guardian, although James did don his costume one last time in the series finale.

Citizen Steel

Nick Zano’s Nate Heywood joined Legends of Tomorrow at the beginning of Season 2, gaining the ability to transform his body into steel from an experimental serum. This power is more like Colossus’ from the X-Men than the Nate from the comics, but it was a welcome one to have until mustard gas eroded the steel in Season 7, which led to him retiring from the team. This version of Nate also simply went by Steel rather than Citizen Steel, not to be confused with the John Henry Irons Steel.

Mon-El

Hailing from Daxam, a planet populated by Kryptonian offshoots, Mon-El gained the same kind of superpowers as Supergirl when he landed on Earth. However, because he was a spoiled prince from the Daxamite monarchy, it took a while for him to start behaving like a hero. Mon-El and Kara fell in love, but while Chris Wood and Melissa Benoist married in real life, it wasn’t meant to be for the characters. Mon-El ended up traveling to the 31st century and joined the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Batwing

When Batwoman began, Luke Fox initially started out working behind the scenes to help Kate Kane out, having already been keeping Wayne Tower secure on Batman’s behalf. Then in Season 2, Campus Johnson’s character began his own superhero journey, one which culminated in him constructing a supersuit and becoming Batwing, just like in the comics.

Brainiac 5

Brainiac 5 was one of Mon-El’s teammates in the Legion of Super-Heroes, and together with Saturn Girl, they traveled back to the present day in Supergirl Season 3. By the end of that season, Winn Schott decided to travel to the future to stop an AI-killing virus, Jesse Rath’s Brainiac 5, a.k.a. Brainy, stayed in the present and became one of Supergirl’s most valued allies. He also formed a romantic relationship with Nia Nal.

Hawkgirl

Although both Hawkgirl and Harman appeared in Legends of Tomorrow Season 1 following their introductions in the “Heroes Join Forces Crossover,” Ciara Renée’s Kendra Saunders unquestionably had the bigger role. After her version of Carter Hall was killed by Vandal Savage, she joined the Legends to help try to defeat the villain across time. By the end of Season 1, Kendra and a later incarnation of Carter left after Vandal was finally killed for good.

Rip Hunter

Arthur Darvill’s Rip Hunter, one of DC Comics’ greatest time travelers, assembled the Legends of Tomorrow to help him stop Vandal Savage. Season 2 saw him bring brainwashed by the Legion of Doom, but fortunately, their programming was erased, and he then decided to leave the Legends after realizing he had nothing left to teach them. He then spent the next five years of his personal timeline forming the Time Bureau, but by the end of Season 3, Rip sacrificed his stop the demon Mallus.

Jesse Quick

Rather than being Jesse Chambers like in the comics, The Flash’s version of Jesse Quick was Jesse Wells, the daughter of Earth-2’s Harrison Wells. Violett Beane's character gained her super speed after being exposed to dark matter during an attempt to restore Barry Allen’s own speed. By Season 3, she began fighting crime on Earth-2, and occasionally on Earth-1, as Jesse Quick. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as though Jesse was restored to life in the new multiverse created during “Crisis on Infinite Earths.”

While the Arrowverse is over, these 32 will be remembered as some of its most prominent superheroes, and there are plenty of others we could spend time talking about. They’re just among the many reasons why this franchise will continue being enjoyed for years to come.

Although June will finally deliver the long-awaited release of The Flash movie, which we know will see Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen team up with Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck’s versions of Batman (among other heroes) we’re just days away from a different version of the Scarlet Speedster concluding his journey. The Flash series finale airs on The CW next week, and as seen in the trailer, it’s bringing back Tom Cavanagh’s Reverse-Flash and some other familiar characters. However, one fan-favorite who won’t be back for this last round of action is Carlos Valdes’ Cisco Ramon, a.k.a. Vibe.

Valdes was a series regular on The Flash’s first seven seasons, but he hasn’t been seen on the show since the Season 7 finale, “Heart of the Matter, Part 2.” Given how many people Season 9 brought back, including Oliver Queen, Wally West and Bloodwork, one wouldn’t have been faulted for thinking that Cisco would have been part of this lineup. Unfortunately, Valdes informed EW that scheduling conflicts with the TV series Up Here, which Hulu subscribers can stream, made a return impossible, saying:

Cisco Ramon was introduced to the Arrowverse alongside Danielle Panabaker’s Caitlin Snow in the Arrow Season 2 episode “The Man Under the Hood,” which saw them coming face to face with Deathstroke and followed four months after the introduction of Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen. Then in October 2014, The Flash TV show premiered, with Cisco and Caitlin being among the key people aiding Barry in protecting Central City with his super speed. Valdes also reprised Cisco in five more Arrow episodes and three episodes each of Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl thanks to The CW’s DC crossovers, as well as voiced the character in the Vixen and Freedom Fighters: The Ray animated projects.

Carlos Valdes made his last regular appearance on The Flash in “Good-Bye Vibrations,” but he returned for Season 7’s final two episodes to aid Team Flash in combating Godspeed, then stuck around to officiate Barry and Iris’ wedding vows renewal. Cisco has been repeatedly mentioned since then, usually when his A.R.G.U.S. resources are needed. Alas, when the time comes for Team Flash to face off against the still-alive Eddie Thawne, who’s now Cobalt Blue and brought the sinister speedsters Reverse-Flash, Zoom, Savitar and Godspeed back into play, they won’t have Cisco Ramon’s smarts or his artificial “vibe” powers (which he used to have naturally until taking the meta-human cure in Season 5) to aid them. 

As such, The Flash fans will need to envision what Cisco Ramon’s life looks like in the years since he left Central City with his girlfriend, Victoria Park’s Kamilla Hwang. For his part, Carlos Valdes is hoping that these two are still living a happy life together. In his words:

If you’d like to revisit Valdes’ time on The Flash, his seven seasons, plus Season 8, can be streamed with a Netflix subscription. The show’s series finale is slated on the 2023 TV schedule for Wednesday, May 24 at 8 pm ET, but not to worry, as there are many upcoming DC TV shows to look forward to over the next several years.

For seven seasons, actor Carlos Valdes became a household name for Arrowverse fans as one of the brainiest comic book characters out there, Cisco Ramon. Having popped up across a variety of The CW's DC shows, from Arrow to Legends of Tomorrow to animated series like Vixen and Freedom Fighters: The Ray, Valdes opted to vacate the role in 2021 after years of rumors to dedicate his efforts to other projects. The first was the Watergate miniseries Gaslit, which recently concluded on Starz, and he'll apparently be tapping back into his musical roots for his next follow-up role, which will team him up with former Good Girls star Mae Whitman.

Broadway vet Carlos Valdes has officially joined the cast of Hulu subscribers’ next favorite musical romantic comedy, Up Here. It follows the exhilarating story of a seemingly ordinary couple, Lindsay and Miguel, as they fall deeply in love for one another in New York City as 1999 is coming to a close. Albeit with the caveat that the biggest threat to their relationship is essentially their own selves, with each of their heads filled with troublesome memories and obsessions, not to mention fears and dark fantasies. Since we're in comedy territories, one can assume those memories and fears won't be excessively disturbing, but it's certainly possible.

With Mae Whitman set to portray Lindsay, Valdes will take on the role of Miguel, who is noted as being sensitive and thoughtful, according to Deadline. He’s something of an artist, and has the creative sensibilities to match, while also boasting skills in the way of romance. That said, something within Miguel has always made him feel as if he doesn’t fit in anywhere, which inspires him to go through a complete reinvention in the aftermath of a devastating break-up. In doing so, he squashes his emotions and walks away from an on-the-rise career in the world of video game concept art, only to seek out the financial gains that come with working in investment banking. 

I kind of can’t wait to see what kind of interesting songs are produced surrounding the subject of investment banking. Hopefully there’s something Monty Python-esque about it all, given the UK troupe’s use of chartered accountants to exemplify a boring career. 

As far as the music for the series goes, Carlos Valdes will be in good hands. The actor, who made his Broadway debut in 2013 as part of the acclaimed musical Once, will be singing tunes written by the double EGOT-earning Robert Lopez and his EGO-earning wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the duo behind Frozen and its sequel, Coco, WandaVision’s bops, and more, with the former winning his Tonys for Avenue Q and The Book of Mormon. As well, they will be co-writing the screenplay alongside tick, tick…BOOM! and Dear Evan Hansen screenwriter Steven Levenson and former New Girl and My Name Is Earl writer/producer Danielle Sanchez-Witzel. 

It’ll be fun to see Carlos Valdes in another role that’ll presumably let him have a little fun on the screen. To say nothing of his more dramatic skills as Gaslit’s FBI agent Paul Magallanes, but I just miss Cisco’s vibe on TV. (Not necessarily his Vibe character, to be sure, but his overall lightheartedness and puns.) Cisco’s final episode, which served as Season 7’s finale, had him serving a pretty important role for Barry and Iris’ relationship, and thankfully didn’t kill him off. So he could technically return to the Arrowverse at whatever point The Flash inevitably hits its brakes for good. 

Before that happens, though, we’ll likely be seeing Carlos Valdes putting his vocal skills to work when Up Here makes its debut on Hulu. That date is currently unknown, but our 2022 TV premiere schedule will clue you in on everything else hitting the small screen soon.

Spoilers ahead for The Flash Season 7, Episode 12 “Good-Bye Vibrations.”

The latest episode of The Flash involved the exit of one of its original stars, as Carlos Valdes said his goodbyes as Cisco Ramon. While the episode featured OG Team Flash going on one last mission together, it also involved a full circle farewell to Cisco, and Valdes is reflecting on the Easter egg-filled sendoff.

Towards the end of the episode, appropriately titled “Good-Bye Vibrations,” Team Flash got together to give Cisco a proper going away party, as he and girlfriend Kamila prepared to leave for Star City after Cisco was offered a job at A.R.G.U.S.. It was a sweet scene that even included a karaoke callback to the very first episode. The team sings Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face,” which is the song what was playing at S.T.A.R. Labs when Cisco and Caitlin were trying to get Barry to wake up. Carlos Valdes spoke to TVLine and said he loved the karaoke song choice, noting that there is:

The episode also included plenty of flashbacks to the earlier seasons, like the time Cisco and Caitlin played “Poker Face” for Barry and the moment Barry had his first test-run as The Flash. Valdes brought up the fun musical callback in his final episode, explaining that it:

Carlos Valdes was announced to be leaving the CW superhero series last month and was joined in departing the show by co-star Tom Cavanagh, whose exit came earlier this season. While it seemed like Valdes wasn’t going to be leaving until after the current seventh season, his departure was set up shortly after the news broke. With Cisco moving to Arrow’s Star City, it’s possible that fans might still see him pop in from time to time, as it’s only a train ride away.

Last night’s episode was as lighthearted as it could have been and truly felt like a Season 1 episode, as the characters were having fun while also pursuing a meta. Like Carlos Valdes said, it was a full-circle moment that smoothly took fans back to the beginning of the series. Even though Cisco will be dearly missed, it'll be interesting to see what he does at A.R.G.U.S. and whether or not David Ramsey’s John Diggle will mention it when he stops by Central City in his upcoming episode.

Cisco Ramon said goodbye to Central City in the latest episode of The Flash, and The CW series said goodbye to one of the founding members of Team Flash. Luckily fans got the scoop on what's next for the Arrowverse character and whether or not he may ever appear to lend a hand to Barry and others again.

Cisco gathered Barry, Iris, and Caitlin together to make the big announcement that he and Kamilla were leaving town. As we learned in previous episodes, Kamilla was headed to Miami to run an art gallery. As for Cisco, he received a job offer for the Director of Technology and Science of A.R.G.U.S. after Chip Cooper transferred to C.E.M.A, the Cosmic Emergency Management Agency. Cisco is off to Star City and will be joined by Kamilla once her gallery is done.

Cisco expected tears from his friends, but much to his dismay, there didn't seem to be much sadness amongst the team. Stunned, Cisco insisted on joining Caitlin and Barry on one final ride. They went about taking on a new version of the Rainbow Raider, who seemed notably happier than the past incarnation the team took on. Things quickly got out of control when Cisco was hypnotized by Rainbow Raider's ultra-happy powers and then ramped up to 11 when Barry was affected as well.

The result was a hilarious episode that included Barry breakdancing in The Flash outfit and Chester just vibing and enjoying everyone's positive attitude. That all came crashing down when Barry and Cisco were cured, and Team Flash realized their casual attitude towards Cisco's departure hurt his feelings more than they helped. Of course, we knew Barry and the gang were a wreck, but that didn't make the eventual airing of feelings where everyone cried any less satisfying. Was it a bit cheesy? Sure, but it still warmed my heart all the same.

Ultimately the day was saved (mainly by Cisco's heroics), "Poker Face" was sung, and it would appear the door is still open for Carlos Valdes to return to The Flash as Cisco Ramon in the future. After all, he's just a hop, skip, and a jump away in Star City, and let's not forget that with the Vibe gear, he could technically return to town instantaneously. While it's unknown how active Valdes will be in the Arrowverse going forward, it checks out from a plot standpoint that Cisco could return and bring a small army with him thanks to that sweet A.R.G.U.S. gig.

The Flash airs on The CW Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Cisco's departure was certainly sad, but the good news is that we already know another Flash actor who departed already has plans to return in the future.

When veteran Arrowverse show The Flash comes back next week, the series will bid farewell to one of its original stars, the tech wiz of STAR Labs. Carlos Valdes, who has portrayed Cisco Ramone since the very beginning of the show, is exiting the CW superhero series, and the actor is revealing when he decided it was time for Cisco’s story to end.

Carlos Valdes is just the latest star from The Flash to depart from the series as, earlier this season, Tom Cavanagh’s exit marked the end of the many versions of Harrison Wells. Valdes opened up to TVLine about when he decided on what Cisco’s end should be, as well as why he decided to end this chapter on a part of his life that's lasted for over seven years:

A recent episode of The Flash even set up Cisco’s departure, and it was true to the character. His girlfriend, Kamilla, revealed that her photos were noticed by a place out in San Francisco and, while the news didn’t sit well with Cisco at first, he soon came around to the idea of moving on to something different and began looking at open positions in the Bay Area. The upcoming episode will include an emotional farewell that will surely leave a hole in Team Flash.

Earlier this month, Tom Cavanagh revealed why he decided to leave The Flash after seven seasons, and the reasoning was similar to Valdes’, just wanting to do something different. With Season 8 of The Flash already in the works and Cisco seemingly being given an open-ended exit, it’s possible fans could see the character return, should he to ever pay a visit to his friends at STAR Labs in a future season.

Carlos Valdes’ final episode of The Flash, appropriately titled “Good-Bye Vibrations,” (a wordplay on the classic Beach Boys song and a nod to Cisco’s metahuman counterpart Vibe) airs next Tuesday, June 8 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. Although it'll be hard to imagine the show without Cisco, the door will likely be left open for him so, hopefully, this episode won’t be the last time fans see him.

The Flash just ended its arc of the unhinged living Speed Force, which means a new arc is on the way for the series to tackle. Unfortunately, that new adventure will kick off with a sad event, as the next episode will indeed be the exit of Carlos Valdes' Cisco Ramon as a series regular. That much we already knew, but the trailer for the episode teased a potentially sad twist that could absolutely devastate the fandom.

In a short and not-so-sweet trailer for "Good-Bye Vibrations," Cisco teams up with Barry for one last adventure against a new version of the Rainbow Raider. I'm not sure about too much beyond that, though the trailer teased that there's a chance that Cisco won't make it out of his final episode alive. Watch the trailer below, and continue on for further analysis of this big episode.

Barry telling Cisco he won't let him die is absolutely concerning because it's not a situation in which Cisco appeared to be in any immediate danger. In my opinion, it seemed like a scene in which Cisco was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice, all in the name of saving the city, friends, and woman that he loves. This is totally an on-brand move for Cisco, unfortunately, which has me concerned he may die before ever heading to start a new life in Miami.

Of course, The Flash is notorious for fake-out deaths, so this could just be a tactic by The CW to further drum up hype for the episode. After all, I think most fans of the Arrowverse series want Cisco to ride off into the sunset with his lover and live a happy and fulfilled life elsewhere. Plus, his survival means a guest appearance is always still on the table and a lot easier to do if Earth-Prime Cisco isn't dead.

Then there's the part of me that thinks that as much as I'd hate it, Cisco Ramon's death on The Flash would certainly be one of the most memorable events of the series for me. In the end, is that a more memorable exit for an actor like Carlos Valdes, who has been so important to the series since the very beginning? Losing him should hurt and leave a hole in our hearts that can't be filled so easily. I don't want it to happen, but if The Flash kills Cisco in his final episode, would that be better for the character's legacy overall?

Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh are officially leaving The Flash at the end of Season 7, marking the end of an era for the series. Both men have been with the show since the beginning, and while both were integral parts of its success, I have to admit I'll miss seeing Cisco on The Flash most of all.

I've said for years that Cisco Ramon is the glue that has held Team Flash together, and I'll say it again now that he's on the way out. The Flash will be forever changed without his presence, and there's plenty that I'll miss with Cisco gone that other characters could only hope to live up to.

Cisco's Bromance With Barry

Though the married life has kept Barry and Cisco from hanging out as much as they used to in the earlier seasons, the bromance between the two has remained real. The two have almost always had each other's backs, and if one stepped out of line, they were always the first to put the other in check. The two also went through some rough times, like when Cisco discovered Barry's time manipulation inadvertently led to his brother's death.

And yet, even in the lows, the two moved past it, and Cisco was even Barry's best man at his wedding. It makes me wonder who Barry is going to turn to if he's having one of those issues he can't just share with his wife after Cisco leaves. Chester is a new option, although, given his newness to the team, he may not be as effective as a shoulder to cry on as Cisco would've been.

Cisco's Rad T-Shirts

I can't count the number of times I've watched The Flash over the years and seen Cisco Ramon rocking a t-shirt that I wanted for myself. Whether it's some witty novelty t-shirt (such as the one seen above) or just a particularly rad-looking superhero shirt, who among us hasn't been the slightest bit envious of Cisco's t-shirt game?

And while I'd probably never personally purchase a shirt for The Big Bang Theory, I do love that The Flash had Cisco wear them over the years as a nod to Sheldon Cooper's Flash t-shirts. No one on Team Flash has that type of wardrobe, though I have hope the series will continue the tradition of trendy t-shirts when Carlos Valdes is gone. Perhaps Cisco can donate some of his t-shirts to someone on Team Flash on his way out?

Cisco's Villain-Naming Was On Point

While it's true that most of Cisco's names he came up with were the pre-existing names already there in The Flash comics canon, there was always something special about the flair he brought to each naming scene. There was always something special when a new villain arrived on the show because you just knew a scene where Cisco dropped the bomb on the villain's name was coming.

With Cisco gone, who will take up the mantle of naming villains? I'm not sure Caitlin can be nearly as creative to come up with names (especially now that Killer Frost is headed to prison), and the same could be said about Barry and Iris. I hate to put the burden on Chester's shoulders, but he does seem like the obvious Cisco successor given their shared interests. Perhaps the show will just drop the villain naming ceremony altogether, which would be a bummer but ultimately necessary if they can't find someone else to do the process justice.

Cisco's Constant Pop Culture References

The Flash could get pretty heavy at times, but no matter how bleak things could get, Cisco could always bring some levity to an episode with a random Yoda reference or something of that nature. It's not like Cisco was always trying to take the heat out of a situation. He just had a geek brain that was always dialed into the pop culture similarities of his sci-fi world.

One thing I'll definitely miss is the references to Marvel, which I never thought would fly in an Arrowverse show. There was something odd about the implication that the Marvel comics and movies exited within the Arrowverse, a place where actual people like Superman and Batman exist. I guess even people living in a world of superheroes need escapism from time to time, and they'd actually enjoy more stuff about superheroes? Cisco did anyway, and as someone who was a superhero, I guess that would be on-brand for him.

The Convenience Of His Vibe Powers

Speaking of superpowers, it cannot be stated enough just how much the show improved when Cisco was fully realized as Vibe. Heroes could arrive on the scene at a moment's notice without being a speedster or carried there by Barry, Cisco could travel between Earths and keep in contact with other characters, and it was just cool for Cisco to be the guy who wasn't always the one chilling back at the lab. It's hard to imagine what The Flash will be without Cisco and his powers.

I occasionally wonder if The Flash staff feels the same way, as they found a way for Cisco to use his powers via tech after he took the metahuman cure. Vibe's powers have been a crutch the show has relied on for various travel explanations for some time and if Barry needed some extra backup. Now it's looking like at the end of Season 7 that Barry could be the only person on Team Flash left with powers if Killer Frost is still in prison. Season 8 could definitely have some Season 1 vibes in that regard, though I'm sure The Flash will ultimately bring in some more metas down the stretch to further help Barry keep Central City safe from harm.

The Flash is currently going strong in its seventh season, and catching up to Arrow as the Arrow-verse's current record-holder for the longest-running series. Now, unfortunately, Flash fans are going to have to say goodbye to not one but two original series stars who won't be around beyond the current Season 7. Both Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes are bowing out of The Flash. That said, it's not all bad news.

But to start with the news that likely won't be welcomed by many Flash fans, Deadline reports that Carlos Valdes (whose departure has been rumored many times over the years) is set to conclude his run as a series regular as Cisco Ramon in the Season 7 finale. As for Tom Cavanagh, the actor who has played a wide variety of characters with the same Harrison Wells face over the years of The Flash actually already ended his series regular run in the third episode of Season 7.

This cuts The Flash's remaining original cast members from six down to four, with Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, and Jesse L. Martin still attached to the series, although Gustin is the only one whose return for Season 8 has been confirmed at the time of writing.

All of this said, fans don't need to despair that the end of Season 7 will be the last time that they'll ever see Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, or that the third episode of Season 7 was The Flash's final goodbye to Tom Cavanagh as one of his many characters. Flash showrunner Eric Wallace (who debunked rumors of Cisco's departure after the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover in Flash Season 6) had this to say in a statement:

Not only has The Flash boss not ruled out returns for Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes, but his comment that the show is "happily keeping the door open for return appearances" indicates that the Season 7 finale won't be killing off Cisco, and at least one version of Wells must be out there somewhere, unless flashbacks or visions would be necessary for a return. It's also worth noting that Cavanagh will appear as a guest star in future episodes of Season 7, so fans haven't seen the last of him regardless of what happens in Season 8.

The Flash was renewed for Season 8 back in February, so there's no question of the Scarlet Speedster's journey ending with Cisco's departure in the Season 7 finale. The Flash Season 6 finally returned for its first post-“Crisis on Infinite Earths” episode, diving head-first into the challenges of living in a newly rebooted world. While Iris set off to fight a mysterious organization, Cisco announced he’s leaving Central City to undertake his own project. His departure at the end of the midseason premiere understandably reignited the conversation about Carlos Valdes’ potential exit from the series, but is Cisco leaving The Flash?

In Season 5, rumors swirled that Carlos Valdes was leaving the popular superhero series, sparked in large part by his absence in a few episodes. It wasn’t an unfounded fear, either. The actor is an original cast member and has appeared in every episode of The Flash since Season 1, at least up until last season. Naturally, when Cisco bid farewell in Season 6’s midseason opener, the same question crossed fans’ minds. Is Cisco really gone for good? Here’s what showrunner Eric Wallace told TVLine:

Whew! That’s a huge relief. Personally, I can’t imagine the show without Cisco. He’s been one of the series’ strengths since the beginning, so it’s good to know that Carlos Valdes is sticking around. With Eric Wallace confirming that Cisco is staying, the brainiac's exit during Season 6’s Episode 10 didn’t really give off any permanent goodbye vibes in hindsight. If that would have been the case, he might’ve bid his girlfriend Kamilla and the rest of his friends adieu as well.

Throughout the episode, Cisco was openly stressed about the state of Earth Prime. Extrapolators no longer work, other Earths have been folded into one, and the tech genius doesn’t even remember how he came to own a Superman shirt! It turns out that rebooting the multiverse has left Team Flash with a lot more unanswered questions and mysteries than ever before.

Even metahumans are different on Earth Prime, and Dr. Light’s reappearance — as an assassin for the criminal organization Black Hole — proves as much. Cisco left Central City to compile and research everything that's different after Crisis, and while it’s unclear in which episode he’ll return, at least his absence is only temporary and fans can rest easy knowing that Carlos Valdes will be back "very quickly."

The Flash Season 6 airs new episodes every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. Now that Arrow is over, it’s the most senior show in the Arrow-verse, which also includes Supergirl, Black Lightning, Batwoman, and Legends of Tomorrow. The Arrow-verse shows on The CW have always pulled out as many stops as possible when planning the annual mega-crossovers that feature heroes from all the superhero series banding together to save the world. But, as we know, this year's crossover will be bigger than usual, with five shows (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow) all getting their own hours of the event, and Black Lightning finally getting a chance to join the fight, as well as the official Arrow-verse.

While there have been many cool things announced for Crisis on Infinite Earths, few were quite as exciting as hearing that Legends of Tomorrow's Brandon Routh would get the opportunity to revisit the character that first brought him to the attention of people around the world: Superman. While there are still plenty of secrets being held about Routh's version of the iconic character for Crisis, we do know that, even though he'll be joined by current Arrow-verse Superman Tyler Hoechlin and former CW Man of Steel Tom Welling, Routh made quite an impression when he showed up in that famous supersuit.

Brandon Routh, who will also be playing his LOT character Ray Palmer / Atom for the crossover, made such an impact, in fact, that several of his co-stars were blown away by him. David Ramsey, who we all know and love as Arrow's John Diggle / Spartan, even went so far as to say that Routh will be our "golden era Superman" for Crisis on Infinite Earths:

Well, David Ramsey was clearly very impressed with Brandon Routh's appearance as Superman, wasn't he? And, I mean, since you can see Routh in character above, can you really blame him? It looks like he was definitely able to get back to that best-of-the-good-guys attitude and add on some worldly growth and wisdom. Plus, as the internet is telling me that Brandon Routh is only 6'2", it would seem that standing ramrod straight in a Superman costume, arms akimbo, adds several stately inches to one's height. All the better to quietly intimidate bad guys, I suppose.

We don't know just yet how big of a part Routh's seemingly older and wiser Superman will have in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, but from the looks of the photos that have been released, we can at least count on him showing up in Part 2 (Batwoman) and Part 3 (The Flash). Even if that's all we get of his first time reprising Superman since he played the character in 2006's Superman Returns, it sounds like it's going to be a wondrous thing to behold.

Of course, we also don't know just how this "golden era Superman" ended up looking just like Ray Palmer. It's one thing to have different versions of Flash look like Barry's Earth-1 dad, at least they're all human. Superman, as we know, is actually an alien, so if Ray crosses paths with whatever Earth's Clark Kent looks just like him, he's probably going to have some very big questions for his naturally superpowered doppelgänger.

Speaking of the two different Brandon Routh characters we're going to get in Crisis on Infinite Earths, according to Carlos Valdes (The Flash's Cisco Ramon / Vibe) watching Routh embody both of them was a real treat:

As Carlos Valdes told TV Guide, this season will be the last for Brandon Routh (and at least one other character) on Legends of Tomorrow, so fans should have even more fun watching him play Ray and Superman in this crossover.

Crisis on Infinite Earths (and its two Brandon Routh characters) will kick off with Supergirl on December 8, then carry over into Batwoman and The Flash before winter hiatus, then wrap up on Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow when the shows return in January.

Spoilers ahead for Season 6, Episode 5 of The Flash**.**

The Flash has introduced several of its main characters’ doppelgängers over the seasons. That is best exemplified by Tom Cavanagh's Harrison Wells, whose doppelgängers show up every year to work with the team. In The Flash's most recent episode, it was Cisco who faced one of his villainous doubles, dubbed Echo. As it turns out, Echo’s backstory was changed at the last minute after he became “too intense”.

In “Kiss Kiss Breach Breach,” Carlos Valdes' Cisco Ramon had to contend with the death of his ex-girlfriend, Cynthia. Before he could solve the mystery of her murder, though, he had to prove his own innocence, and later discovered that it was his Earth-19 counterpart, Echo, who actually killed Cynthia and framed him.

According to Carlos Valdes, the villain’s original backstory wasn’t the one that fans saw onscreen. The actor explained the change.

That’s interesting, because Echo was still quite intense in the finished product. However, it’s possible the storyline was changed because it was headed into a Savitar-esque territory. Back in Season 3, one of Barry Allen's time remnants eventually became Savitar, the villain who tried to kill Candice Patton’s Iris West-Allen (whose natural curls made their debut in last night’s episode).

The Flash’s Eric Wallace may have been trying to avoid creating that very same dilemma. Perhaps they altered Echo by making him from another Earth, and not a future version of Cisco, though I'm just spitballing.

Speaking to TVLine, Carlos Valdes explained how the change affected his performance:

I’m not sure about you, but Carlos Valdes killed it as Echo, and the personality distinction between the doppelgangers worked to elevate the intensity. The focus on Cisco’s storyline is a cause of concern though. With “Crisis on Infinite Earths” coming up soon, is The Flash setting up Cisco’s death in the crossover?

Last season, rumors swirled that Carlos Valdes would be leaving The Flash at some point in Season 6. During San Diego Comic-Con, Valdes cleared the air, assuring fans that he wasn’t “leaving the show this season.” Ok, that’s good to know, but people have lied about things on this show before.

With the five-episode crossover set to begin December 8, there’s no telling what will happen. The Flash’s next new episode will air on The CW on Tuesday, November 19, at 8 p.m. ET.

It's been a stressful time for Cisco fans ever since the final stretch of The Flash's fifth season, when a very alarming rumor regarding the character reared its head. Reports alleged that actor Carlos Valdes was looking to exit The CW series, and that Season 5 could be his last season.

At first, it just sounded like a completely baseless and unfounded rumor, but then the season ended with Cisco taking the metahuman cure so that he could live a normal life. Understandably, fans went on high alert, but is Carlos Valdes leaving The Flash? The actor cleared the air at San Diego Comic-Con and finally addressed the reality of his rumored exit.

Carlos Valdes emphatically expressed that, no, he isn't leaving The Flash this season and he's very happy to continue hanging out with his fellow cast mates. That would seemingly dismiss the idea that his possible exit was being saved for "Crisis On Infinite Earths," which is set to kick off ahead of the winter finales. While Valdes' response may be a bit spoilery, what a relief to know we probably won't be mourning Cisco amidst all the wild appearances and other crazy things set to hit this year's big crossover.

With that said, one has to wonder what The Flash actually has in store for non-meta Cisco going forward. If Carlos Valdes' statement to EW is accurate, then the assumption is he's still going to be a part of Team Flash even if he isn't Vibe. Does he just continue on as the main tech guy, or will he end up being forced to take up his dimension-traversing mantle once again?

The Flash's Season 6 trailer appeared to confirm that Cisco is still living in Central City, and is still lending aid to his friends. He's also still with Kamilla Hwang, whom he started a relationship with towards the end of Season 5. The promo seems to imply that Cisco still has a sizable role within Team Flash, although it also seems there's old footage mixed with new footage.

Plus if Cisco is still with the team, what will that new genius character be up to? Probably learning how to quickly and seemingly effortlessly come up with nicknames for metahuman villains.

What The Former Cast Members Of CW's The Flash Are Up To Now

There's so many questions to answer, and unfortunately, there's still a wait before The Flash returns to The CW. Season 6 will premiere on Tuesday, October 6, at 8:00 p.m. ET. The Flash sped into its hiatus following a game-changing Season 5 finale that saw the departure of several characters, although some more heartbreakingly than others. Cisco's (and actor Carlos Valdes') future on the show was somewhat ambiguous. Unlike Nora, he wasn't killed off, and unlike Sherloque, he didn't have a parallel Earth to call him home. He just had the chance for a normal life with a young woman outside of STAR Labs. Now, details about a new Season 6 character raise the question: is Cisco leaving?

For Season 6, The Flash is looking to cast a new scientist, and some of his skills sound like they would compensate for the hole in the team left if Cisco does indeed depart. TVLine reports The Flash is looking for an African-American actor to play a "socially awkward" genius in both science and math.

He's also "a bit obsessed" with aliens and alien technology. It's not clear at this point if he'll have the engineering skills of Cisco Ramon, but a genius-level intellect in math and science combined with interest in alien tech could make him as good a replacement as possible.

Of course, the addition of a new scientist doesn't 100% mean that one of the existing scientists has to leave, as both Tom Cavanagh and Tom Felton played scientist characters who joined Caitlin, Cisco, and Barry in the past rather than replacing them. Still, would The Flash add somebody whose skills seem to overlap so significantly with Cisco's if both were to remain on board?

Cisco and Caitlin will both meet this new scientist, so Cisco will apparently be on board for at least part of Season 6. Will he be a recurring character? Or will he drop in and out to give his blessing on the future of Team Flash, similarly to what Wally West did before Keiynan Lonsdale left the Arrow-verse?

At least the end of the Season 5 finale apparently proved that The Flash isn't interested in killing Cisco off, and that he will meet this new scientist indicates that Cisco Ramon won't go the way of Winn Schott on Supergirl and never return despite the door seeming wide open.

Not much is known about the Season 6 big bad at this point, although rumor has it that The Flash is looking for a "diverse" man to play the part. The Season 5 finale had so much going on that there wasn't really time to introduce the new baddie, and that he evidently hadn't yet been cast makes it all the more obvious that the end of Season 5 wasn't the right time to introduce him.

The Season 5 did after all have to drop a key detail about the upcoming "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover on top of everything else.

In fact, all of the Arrow-verse shows ended with a nod to the "Crisis" crossover, with Arrow kinda sorta revealing Oliver Queen's fate. Legends of Tomorrow really only had the Monitor show up to observe the Legends in action, so it should be interesting to see how he interacts with them next season. After all, they weren't part of the "Elseworlds" crossover with the Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl casts. We'll just have to wait and see if the Flash cast continues to include Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon.

The Flash will return to The CW in the fall for the 2019-2020 TV season, and it will become the longest-running Arrow-verse series still on the air following the end of Arrow. Cisco Ramon has been The Flash's main source for comedy, clever names, and quick travel, but a new rumor has us worried those days are coming to an end. While The CW series is confirmed to be coming back for Season 6, it's possible that Cisco is not. Yep, it appears one of the first main cast members of Team Flash could be on his way out -- if this rumor is true.

The rumor -- just a rumor -- claims actor Carlos Valdes is looking to move on from the role, and wants to make Season 5 his final season on The Flash. We Got This Covered referenced an anonymous source, who wasn't even 100% sure on the intel, but still felt "pretty confident" in its veracity. There was nothing more solid than that. But rumors were already spreading even before that post. So, with that said, should audiences be prepared to say their goodbyes to Cisco Ramon?

It's hard to say, as there's no denying Season 5 of The Flash has been a weird season for Cisco. First, Cicada stripped him of his powers, and Team Flash has essentially replaced him for fast travel services via the Extrapolator. He's also been a little more absent and further from the main story line than in season's past, and when he does appear as of late, he's working on the metahuman cure. Is he going to use it on himself?

That's a possibility, of course, but let's also remember the metahuman cure could be used to strip villains of their powers. Additionally, Team Flash is about as loaded with characters as its ever been, which may be the reason things aren't as Cisco heavy as they once were. Actors always have valid reasons for stepping away from long-running shows for a spell beyond preparing to leave, just ask Jesse L. Martin.

Plus, let's not forget that The CW has "Crisis On Infinite Earths" coming up later this year. One would think Cisco will need to be around to help move heroes. Without knowing the source of the intel, it feels as though someone could be reading into the show's direction and hoping to get lucky on a guess. Granted, this isn't the only person saying this, as rumors have been floating around on social media about Carlos Valdes leaving as well.

That said, the thought of Cisco getting written off of The Flash is incredibly devastating. Let's just hope that if it does happen, he's given the opportunity to ride off into the sunset so that he can return for a future adventure. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee that's going to happen with Cicada still lurking around. Killing off a character as beloved as Cisco would be a great way to add some emotional weight to this season.

If you're caught up with The Flash Season 4, and you don't have a stack of heated questions threatening to block your view of the TV, then color me jealous. From The Thinker's endgame to Harry's impending implosion, there are so many intriguing variables that haven't been fully fleshed-out, and perhaps the most interesting tangential enigma is the recurring Mystery Girl, as played by Jessica Parker Kennedy. We still don't know exactly who she is, but star Carlos Valdes has revealed a bit about why she's important to The Flash's story.

Tighten your speculation hats, everybody, because that's one heck of a tease from Carlos Valdes. Now we know that Mystery Girl's secrets don't have strictly standalone importance, and they'll apparently play a part in bridging Season 4 with Season 5, which has apparently been coming together for a while now. And that mini-reveal, in and of itself, could be an extremely important clue about her actual identity.

Because if Mystery Girl serves as a narrative impetus for a future, as opposed to just a side-character curiosity, then her true identity could end up proving true one of the more seemingly outlandish theories kicking around. The Flash doesn't pick each season up right where the last one left off, so whatever left turns happen in the Season 4 finale will likely inspire another big change of pace for Season 5, and that could mean anything from different timelines -- some people are dead certain that Mystery Girl is Dawn Allen, possibly from 1,000 years in the future -- to dimensional shifts to a newly vengeful Speed Force. Considering how few breadcrumbs we've gotten about her, it's still really hard to say where things are going.

But Carlos Valdes does know answers, despite his attempts to keep himself out of the loop on it all. Here's what he told EW about discovering Mystery Girl's secrets for himself.

Something about the way he keeps saying "cute" bothers me, but I'll drown out those thoughts with CC Jitters coffee, assuming my cup doesn't get spilled.

In The Flash's most recent episode, it appeared Team Flash had unlocked a major clue in their quest to find and take down The Thinker. Rather than the villain bursting into S.T.A.R. Labs as foes have in the past, Barry & Co. delivered a house-call to Clifford DeVoe's home address. But instead of finding a blue-tinged brainiac flying around and playing holographic chess, they met a seemingly domesticized DeVoe, with his assistant posing as his wife. According to the show's stars, though, coming face to face with The Thinker only makes things harder for Team Flash. According to Candice Patton:

While this might be something of an exaggeration, it sounds like Barry is going to go to some Fatal Attraction-ish lengths in order to try to understand everything about DeVoe. In talking with ComicBook.com, Candice Patton says that Barry's actions are troublesome for Iris, because she's watching her future husband get bogged down over obsessing about DeVoe in ways that don't necessarily follow GCPD protocol. Something tells me the rule-eschewing Ralph Dibny will play a big role in Barry going beyond the law in his quests, but will we see Barry end up back in jail at some point?

It was previously teased that The Flash would be taking some darker turns in Season 4 tied to Barry's maddening infatuation with The Thinker. (Not as dark as the Savitar situation, mind you.) We all know how hard it is to get one's mind off of something once the fixation sets in, and even though most of us haven't busied ourselves with tracking down evil nemeses with impossible knowledge about the future, we can still understand Barry's mental plight, as well as everyone else's worries that he might be losing sight of the bigger picture.

Because they're definitely going to need to look at the big picture in order to figure The Thinker out. The big bad is apparently capable of visualizing the myriad outcomes that will follow any given situation, which guides all of his actions. His assistant, known as The Mechanic, showed some worries in the episode that gave viewers a reason to suspect that DeVoe's arrogance could be his downfall. But until Team Flash figures out a few more pieces of this puzzle, DeVoe is probably safe to ooze confidence so freely.

Tom Cavanagh teased at SDCC that we would see more Wells in Season 4 of The Flash, and now we're learning exactly how. In an effort to figure out who DeVoe is, Team Flash will bring together a "Council Of Wells" that features doppelgangers of the brilliant mind all hailing from different parts of the multiverse. Tonight's episode "When Harry Met Harry" will feature a few new variations on Wells that should be a treat for fans to see, although actor Tom Cavanagh is disappointed a few versions didn't make the cut:

The fact that The Flash writers left a character like "Wells The Gray" out of the script in favor of other characters should indicate just how amazing the ones that made the cut should be. Tom Cavanagh told Extra that the list of Wells characters was knocked down from 10 to just a few, and the final Wells versions that made the cut include a pompous German and a bad ass Australian. Cavanagh also mentioned the episode will feature a nod to "the mansion" to reference Hugh Hefner, so hopefully, we see a Wells in a red smoking jacket.

As far as whether or not any of the Wells copies that were cut from the episode will appear in future episodes, Tom Cavanagh joked that his Gandalf Wells might appear in Season 17. For now, it appears the Wells versions that made the cut are good enough for Cisco actor Carlos Valdes, who thinks fans of The Flash will really enjoy the scene where they all come together:

Now that the awesome trailer that shows Iris taking lead is out, even fans avoiding spoilers are more or less in the know that Barry has been gone awhile when The Flash picks up for Season 4. Actor Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco, shared with Head TV Editor Nick Venable at SDCC why Team Flash didn't rescue Barry from the speed force during the time jump in the quote below:

So, basically, Team Flash wanted to respect Barry's wishes and went on to try and protect Central City in his absence. That's a great clarification to make to fans because, it's definitely better to know The Flash characters haven't tried to get Barry back versus they've tried unsuccessfully and can't get Barry back. Hopefully, that means that once the team finally decides it's time to bring Barry back home, they'll have him back sooner than later, although, it is suspect that Carlos Valdes didn't explicitly say the team's response was saving Barry from the Speed Force.

While it seems highly unlikely that The Flash is going to go an entire season without Barry Allen, it may be the team is without him longer than they have been in the past. Whether that solution Carlos Valdes mentions is finding a way to rescue Barry or something else, Team Flash appears to include Caitlin Snow after she announced she was out of Team Flash in the Season 3 finale. Valdes failed to mention Jay Garrick, Jesse Quick, Harrison Wells, and others in that new Team Flash roster, so maybe they aren't around as much following the immediate help they gave in the finale? He also didn't mention Caitlin, either, so maybe he was just airing on the side of caution and not wanting to reveal too much.

Rescuing Barry might be a moot point until Team Flash can find another speedster to offer themselves up as a tribute to the speed force. Even if they did, Barry seemed pretty adamant that it was his time to go, so he likely wouldn't take the tag out should the offer come. It sounds like a pretty impossible situation in terms of saving him, which is probably why Team Flash is so disheartened in their current situation.

The Flash fans will have to wait longer for answers as Season 4 isn't set to return until October 10th at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. The CW's comic book universe got bigger than ever recently with the mega-crossover between Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, and the Girl of Steel's addition to the superpowered ensemble was every bit as exciting as we could have hoped. But guess what? The Flash is going to bring yet another hero from the world of the Justice League to the show when Season 3 returns, as star Carlos Valdes has revealed fans will get to see the live-action debut of Gypsy in the near future, and she will play a big role for his character specifically. In his words:

Snap! Not only are we going to get to see Cisco getting more comfortable with his Vibe talents, but we're going to get a brand new (to the show) hero to help him along with his trans-dimensional powers. Both Gypsy and Vibe have precognitive abilities, and are able to project their consciousnesses outside their bodies, so perhaps she'll have a new trick in this respect. Both are also known in the comics for their agility and flexibility, so maybe Gypsy will show Vibe some battle-ready moves, and we'll get to see him use his wave-based powers more aggressively.

First popping up in a Justice League Annual in 1984, Gypsy was born Cindy Reynolds and moved to Detroit after her powers first started developing during her early teen years. Beyond being proficient in fighting, Gypsy's attributes include an extremely cool chameleon ability that allows her to look like pretty much anything she's around, as well as the power to cast illusions into others' minds that prey on their fears. (Among others.) She became a part of the JLA Detroit after the initial formation disbanded, and she also became a part of the short-lived Justice League Task Force.

Perhaps more interesting than Gypsy's Justice League ties - at least in a world where the Justice League film is already coming - is her inclusion within the Birds of Prey. Past attempts to turn that group into a TV show were less than engaging, but now that The CW has established itself as the go-to place for female-heavy comic book action, maybe Gypsy can meet up with one of the Canaries and some version of Oracle and we can get a spinoff. No pipe dreams happening here in the least.

Unfortunately, Carlos Valdes' reveal during The CW's Fan Feast didn't get into tons more details about Gypsy's arrival. And we don't know who'll be playing her, obviously. But we have faith that this show's creative team will find someone perfect for the ass-kicking role.

The CW's The Flash is one of the funniest and most lighthearted superhero shows on television right now. Much of this comes from its well-written scripts, but it also has quite a bit to do with the natural charm and charisma of the series' principle cast. As it turns out: they're just as funny when they mess up as they are when they get their lines right -- if not funnier. An epic gag real from The Flash's second season has finally hit the web, and it's basically just a hilarious supercut of Tom Cavanagh berating the entire cast and crew. Check it out below and prepare to laugh.

That video proves one very important thing: I want to work on the set of The Flash. In less than twelve minutes, that gag reel makes us completely understand why we call these people "Team Flash." They genuinely feel like a tight knit family of crime fighters. Everyone gets a moment to showcase exactly how charming they truly are when not in character, but it's Tom Cavanagh who definitely steals the show. Whenever someone messes up on set, Cavanagh is there to jokingly poke fun at him or her, and just generally lighten the mood. He's not afraid to let the expletives fly at any and every opportunity, either, but everyone around him seems to love it.

The absolute best Tom Cavanagh moment in this entire gag reel? Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes doing improv as Harrison Wells and Cisco in which Wells screams at Team Flash's nerdy tech genius, and calls him "dumber than a bag of hammers." It's beautiful, and it reinforces the fact that Tom Cavanagh is nothing if not a bona fide charisma factory. Then, of course, there's the return of Tom Cavanagh's catchphrase, "fuck me with a spoon twice, daily," which actually appears on the gag reel for The Flash's first season as well, and will always make me laugh. If you ever need a reminder of why The CW cast such an affable guy to play a sociopath like Eobard Thawne, look no further than this gag reel.

Making superhero movies and TV shows has to be the most enjoyable job in all of Hollywood. It just feels like every week we see a new set of outtakes showcasing how much fun these actors and filmmakers have on set. Only recently a similar gag reel from this summer's Captain America: Civil War surfaced online, and it also showed a tightly knit group of superhero actors having fun with one another whenever they messed up a take or a shot. If there's a better job than that, I haven't heard about it.

This gag reel is absolutely hilarious, but it's still no substitute for the drama of the real thing. Luckily we won't have to wait too much longer to see Team Flash go on its next big adventure. The Flash will return for its third season on Tuesday, October 4 at 8 p.m. EST. The Flash will make some big changes to old characters when it returns to The CW for Season 3. Thanks to the Flashpoint plot stemming from Barry's race back in time to change the past, the present will be a far cry from what it would have been without Barry meddling with the timeline. As we learned from the trailer, the Flashpoint version of Cisco will look especially unfamiliar. According to actor Carlos Valdes, Flashpoint Cisco chose a very different path. Valdes had this to say about Cisco in the beginning Season 3:

Cisco Ramon has always been a genius, and Barry would have failed and/or died very early in his career as the Flash if not for Cisco's techno-wizardry. It's always been clear that Cisco could have made a fortune for himself if he chose a less altruistic and academic career path. Flashpoint affords us the opportunity to see the version of Cisco that would have been born if he'd pursued business instead of research, and it sounds like he won't have much in common with who he became without Flashpoint.

Frankly, it may be hard to blame Cisco for flaunting some of his wealth. Nobody becomes the richest man in America without putting in a lot of work. No matter how annoying he may be with billions to his name, we should probably expect that he earned his money. The guy deserves more credit for his work than he'll ever get as Barry's tech support. Flashpoint Cisco may be an arrogant and ostentatious jerk, but he's still the same genius that he was in the original timeline.

Only time will tell how much of Flashpoint Cisco will carry over to the rest of the season even after Barry mostly fixes the timeline. CW president Mark Pedowitz has already revealed that Flashpoint will only last for a couple of episodes. Still, Carlos Valdes went on during his appearance at the recent Dragon Con in Atlanta (via Collider) to tease that the effects of Flashpoint will be felt throughout the season even after Barry tweaks the timeline more or less back to normal. We may see more of Flashpoint Cisco in current Cisco as the episodes pass.

The CW’s Arrow-verse shows have never only been about their titular heroes. From Oliver Queen to Rip Hunter, every main character has always surrounded himself with a team of heroes, allies, and all around good guys. (Well, except for Captain Cold and Heat Wave.) The Flash's Barry Allen understands this idea quite well, as the number of metahumans he's crossed paths with has consistently increased as time has worn on. One such character is Cisco Ramon, a.k.a Vibe, whom fans have wanted to see suit up for quite some time. Now it seems we might have an answer as to whether or not that will even happen.

During a recent interview with Comicbook.com, actor Carlos Valdes sheepishly teased the idea that Vibe’s costume might not be that far off:

Reason would have it, indeed, Mr. Valdes. There’s little doubt that Vibe is coming; Cisco already has the Vibe goggles that Harry Wells developed after that trip to Earth-2, so the costume shouldn’t be too far behind. Unlike The Flash’s current and casual incarnation of Cisco, Vibe is often portrayed as an outright costumed hero in DC comics. He uses his ability to control sound waves as an offensive and defensive weapon, and regularly wears a fairly flamboyant costume featuring a combination of red, black, and yellow.

However, don't let yourself get too excited about the prospect of Vibe becoming a common sight on The Flash. Carlos Valdes made a point during his interview to indicate that Cisco’s Vibe costume and persona probably won't end up becoming a full-time gig for the character because that’s just not who he is:

That makes a great deal of sense. Someone like Thea Queen can change and become a completely costume-based hero, but Cisco has his own inherent usefulness to the team behind the scenes. Without him at S.T.A.R. Labs tinkering on gadgets and providing necessary tech support for Barry Allen, the overall dynamic of Team Flash doesn’t quite work. Based upon this, it looks like Vibe will only really be called upon when the team absolutely needs more than one metahuman to take down a given problem, and when they don't want anyone to know that Cisco is the guy taking bad guys out with vibrations.

There’s no telling when or how Cisco Ramon will finally become Vibe in earnest, but we have little doubt that it will eventually happen. Season 2 of The Flash has somehow offered up even more tantalizing mysteries than Season 1 did, and this next handful of episodes will presumably be full of clues and details that will have us pulling our hair out by the time the finale gets here. We’re desperate to know just who The Man in the Iron Mask is, as well as everything that hasn’t been revealed about Zoom yet. And now star Carlos Valdes has teased just how closely the masked man’s reveal will tie into Zoom’s story.

Carlos Valdes, who plays the quippy tech genius Cisco, also confirmed that by the time Season 2 is wrapped, all of the mysteries will be answered when it comes to Zoom’s origin and everything about his lair. Particularly the person who’s been kept in there ever since we found out about it.

These new hints truly have gotten me all reinvigorated about finding out who is under that mask in the finale, as it sounds like the creative team has really put some thought into who this person is and why this situation is happening. It’s not exactly a big surprise that his reveal will be connected to Zoom, considering that’s the only reason we know about him, but it’s still comforting to hear that the identity is so closely connected to Zoom’s main M.O. and how he has been shaped as a villain. Few things in fiction are more frustrating than a mystery getting solved only for it to offer up zero significance to the central plot, so I couldn’t be more hopeful that Valdes is being sincere.

The actor says he was “thrown for a loop” when he found out who was under the mask, and here’s how he describes the immediate aftermath to IGN.

Zoom’s reveal totally changed up everything we’d seen in the season thus far, especially about all things Jay Garrick. Will the same thing happen with the Man in the Iron Mask? I’m more ready to believe that now than ever. The Flash airs Tuesday nights on The CW.

By the end of Season 1 of The Flash, the S.T.A.R. Labs team looked nothing like it did in the beginning. Barry became a time-traveling metahuman destroyer, Dr. Wells was revealed to be a time-traveling human destroyer (and was seemingly erased from existence), Cisco died in one timeline and retained memories of it, and Caitlin…got married. And in Season 2, the characters will continue branching out, especially Cisco, who will be going through some big changes this fall.

Fans of comic books know that Cisco Ramon is destined to become a superhero in his own right as the sonically enhanced Vibe. And it certainly seems like Carlos Valdes’ interpretation of the character is heading in that direction, although everyone involved with the show gets pretty cagey when that name is brought up. Here’s how Valdes explained things to ScreenRant.

Considering The Flash gets 23 episodes a season, Episode 8 could still be considered “the beginning” if we were stretching. But hopefully things kick off right away with Cisco’s gradual transformation – I mean, after the show explains how Barry managed to stop a black hole from sucking up Central City, because that’s probably a wee bit more important. Anyway, it’s time for another hero to rise from the particle accelerator explosion and accompany Barry on his plights, rather than more people using their unpredictable powers for evil, and Vibe could be just the right person for the job.

In the comics, Vibe is capable of using shock waves to his advantage, such as by crushing buildings or knocking things around, although his TV character could be altered to do whatever the creative team wants him to. And if sensing his life in an alternate timeline is one of his powers, that could be really helpful as things get more complicated time-wise, and it’s just the kind of weird detail that makes me love this show. Since Cisco is the guy that ends up naming all of the bad guys on The Flash, I have a feeling that whenever his time comes to adopt a name, the Beach Boys’ “Good Vibrations” will be playing in the background, and things will click inside his head.

Now that we’re finding out more about where Cisco is headed in Season 2, I’m interested to get bigger hints on how Caitlin is going to fare. Things may take a dark turn with her hubby Ronnie, who’s one half of Firestorm, which could lead her down the destructive path to becoming Killer Frost, a transformation that was hinted at in the Season 1 finale as Barry caught glimpses of the past and future. But before that happens, Vibe!

The Flash will give Barry and the rest of the S.T.A.R. Labs team more than they bargained for when it returns this fall to The CW on Tuesday, October 6.

In the lead up to the mid-season finale of Arrow last year, we got our first opportunity to meet Grant Gustin's Barry Allen, and now new reports have confirmed that the established superhero show will also serve to debut two more characters who will be a part of the upcoming Flash pilot. TV Line attended a press event for the in-development Scarlet Speedster show held earlier today and learned from Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim that Caitlin Snow, played by Danielle Panabaker, and Cisco Ramon, played by Carlos Valdes will be entering the small screen comic book universe later this season on Arrow.

As a bonus to the report, the site also has a bunch of new information about the portrayals of the two comic book characters on the show. Snow, who is known in the comics for eventually becoming the ice-controlling villain known as Killer Frost, is being written as a "bioengineering expert who lost her fiancé during the particle accelerator snafu at Central City’s S.T.A.R. Labs" (the same accident that wound up turning Barry Allen into The Flash). Ramon, meanwhile, will be introduced as a young genius working for S.T.A.R. Labs (he will also presumably eventually become the superhero Vibe, who has the ability to manipulate sonic waves).

Guggenheim also revealed that Barry Allen is going to stay in his coma in the Arrow continuity until the first episode of Flash is ready to air - which will presumably be happening this fall (who is willing to bet the first shot of the pilot is Barry waking up?). Bringing in Snow and Ramon is the way for Arrow to make a Flash-centered episode without actually involving Flash:

While no official release date has been set yet, those episodes will presumably air in April.

Flash is currently in production with the rest of the cast including Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Rick Cosnett and Jay Garrick. Unlike Gotham, which is moving full steam ahead with a full season order over on Fox, The CW is still playing it safe with Flash and still haven't picked up the show for multiple episodes. That situation should hopefully resolve itself in the next few months and we'll learn when exactly we'll get to see the Arrow spin-off pilot for ourselves. Like Arrow, we expect that the upcoming Flash spin-off will be filled with all kinds of different characters from the DC Comics universe, and today we've learned that the pilot has added yet another name to that list. Right on the footsteps of the news that Candice Patton has joined the show as Iris West, Variety is now reporting that Broadway’s Carlos Valdes has signed on to play Cisco Ramon - best known to comic book fans as Vibe.

The character, created by Gerry Conway and Chuck Patton back in 1984, was the leader of a street gang in Detroit for most of his youth who decided to turn his life around and become a superhero. He has the ability to generate and emit powerful shockwaves from his hands that are so powerful that they can shatter steel. At this time it's unclear how the character's origin story will be portrayed in the new televisions series.

Valdes is likely unfamiliar to those who only watch film and television, but he has becoming a growing name on the stage in Broadway. He currently stars as Andrej in Once, but his previous credits also include the touring version of Jersey Boys. We can imagine that he probably has an excellent singing voice, but that probably won't factor in too much while playing Vibe.

With shooting scheduled to start in the next few months, Flash has been slowly putting together its cast. Set to play the series lead is Grant Gustin, who actually played Barry Allen in a few episodes of Arrow leading up to the spin-off. Jesse L. Martin of Law and Order and Rent fame is attached to play Detective West, Barry's surrogate father, while Rick Cosnett and Danielle Panabaker are set to play the villains known as Professor Zoom and Killer Frost, respectively. Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg of Arrow are writing the pilot alongside DC's Geoff Johns, while David Nutter is attached to direct.
