When you tune into a comedy roast — like The Roast of Kevin Hart, which recently aired live on the Netflix schedule — you know you’re going to get some crass humor and jokes that hit below the belt. That was certainly the case for the Ride Along actor, and Chelsea Handler, who was one of the night’s roasters, had no qualms about calling out host Shane Gillis for the brand of humor he brought to the evening. It should come as no surprise, either, that the comedian had quite the snarky response to her criticism.

What Chelsea Handler Said About Shane Gillis And Tony Hinchcliffe’s Roast Humor

Chelsea Handler visited Deon Cole’s Funny Knowing You podcast following Kevin Hart’s roast, and she said she really wasn’t surprised at the insults that were aimed at her — particularly from host Shane Gillis and Tony Hinchcliffe, another comedian on the dais that night — saying:

Chelsea Handler went on to say that Kevin Hart deserved an “elevated roast,” which is what she tried to bring, knowing that Shane Gillis and others would be at “the bottom of the barrel.” She didn’t like the jokes about Cheryl Underwood’s husband’s suicide, and the racial humor rubbed her the wrong way as well, as she said:

When asked about his thoughts on being called “racist,” “sexist” and “lazy” by the former talk show host, Shane Gillis had a measured — and seemingly sarcastic — response, telling Page Six:

It doesn’t seem like the roast host is taking Chelsea Handler’s criticisms to heart, seeming to suggest that she’s saying things as an attempt to keep her name in the headlines (while also promoting his own event).

Shane Gillis knows that he pushes people’s buttons with his humor, and this is far from the first time he’s faced backlash for it. Back in 2019, he was hired onto Saturday Night Live but was fired when his history of using racial and homophobic slurs came to light. The comedian would later come back to host SNL and joke about being fired.

As Sean “Diddy” Combs remains in prison and continues to face numerous lawsuits, one fellow rapper has been particularly vocal – Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. 56-year-old Combs and 50-year-old Jackson have long feuded with each other and, with that, Jackson hasn’t held his tongue on his peer’s issues. Aside from trolling Diddy, Fiddy also produced a docuseries on the embattled rapper. Now, one of Jackson’s ex-girlfriends, comedian Chelsea Handler, is weighing in on the trolling, and she made her opinion very clear.

How Does Chelsea Handler Feel About Her Ex Shading Diddy?

Years ago, Handler and Jackson were indeed in a relationship, which allegedly began and ended sometime in 2011. Handler (50) touched on her relationship with the G-Unit alum during a recent appearance on the We Might Be Drunk Podcast (as shared on YouTube). One of the hosts opined that Jackson had been having “a hell of a moment” due to making headlines for chastising Combs. Handler agreed, and she then expressed her delight over her former partner’s recent comments:

In addition to 50 Cent’s comments about Diddy, there’s something else that seems to give Chelsea Handler comfort. The comic, who recently hosted the Critics’ Choice Awards for the second consecutive year, also shared her appreciation for how Jackson “doesn’t ever talk shit about” her. That’s apparently significant, because the “In da Club” rapper allegedly doesn’t speak highly over his other exes during interviews. While Handler has seemingly avoided public critiques from Jackson, that definitely hasn’t been the case for Combs.

How Has 50 Cent Been Trolling Diddy?

Combs was arrested in September 2024 and eventually charged with sex-trafficking and racketeering. Throughout that time, 50 Cent took various jabs at Combs on social media, from calling out his legal team for doing him “dirty” and vowing to stop President Trump from pardoning him. Once Combs received a mixed verdict, Fiddy trolled him with yet another post. Jackson made headlines in a bigger way, though, when he announced his plans to make a documentary about his longtime rival.

50 Cent produced the four-part docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which became available to Netflix subscription holders in December 2025. Directed by Alexandria Stapleton, the doc explores Combs’ rise to power within the music industry as well as the legal issues and allegations that have plagued him in recent years. Combs took issue with the doc and accused Jackson and co. of using “stolen” footage for the production. Jackson and Stapleton have since denied the claims.

Amid the rollout for his docuseries, 50 Cent accepted the fact that some called him “petty” for making it. Fiddy also, however, clarified that his years-long feud with Diddy didn’t affect his decision to produce the doc, as he wanted to convey that not everyone in the hip hop industry contains Diddy’s actions. And, based on Chelsea Handler’s comments, it seems she’s quite pleased with her ex’s decision not to keep quiet on the matter.

Chelsea Handler has a reputation for being unafraid to step on toes when it comes to her commentary, and her latest subject is none other than football legend Tom Brady. Always a straight shooter, the veteran comedian did not hold back when asked her opinion on the former Patriots QB and influencer Alix Earle seen cozying up.

Brady and Earle recently sparked dating rumors when they were caught on camera getting extremely close in a club. The internet exploded with opinions on their 23-year age gap, and Page Six Radio host Danny Murphy was hoping to get Handler’s take on the viral TMZ photos when she appeared on the show. Instead, she shared her brutally honest opinion of Tom Brady, and this could possibly do more damage to his ego than his entire Netflix roast:

Oof, that’s got to hurt. She shut that down real quick. Handler apparently does not waste a single brain cell on Brady. Murphy seemed to agree, making a comment about how he hoped the Dancing With The Stars runner up was listening to the show, insinuating that she could do better than an aging ex-football player who posts selfies on Instagram, to which Handler replied:

Potentially, the Chelsea star is referring to the fact that Brady has been linked to a number of celebrity women since his divorce from model Gisele Bundchen in 2022, including Kim Kardashian, Dakota Johnson, and Irina Shayk. However, Earle is significantly younger than all those women, and the 7-time Super Bowl champ and her dad are only 2 years apart in age.

The age gap is giving serious Leonardo DiCaprio vibes, who was ironically roasted by Handler at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards last week for being “trapped on a boat” with his 27-year-old girlfriend and Jeff Bezos in St. Barths. The irony grows, as Brady was also spotted with the One Battle After Another actor on that same boat, the day after linking with Earle.

I’ll leave the outspoken opinions on the rumored romance to the professionals, but the timing of this headline is suspicious given Bundchen’s recent remarriage and new baby, paired with Earle’s split from Houston Texans’ player Braxton Berrios. Sure, this could turn into a “new beginning” for the celebrity pair, but more likely this seems to me like some perfectly-timed public flirtation.

While they were dancing together on New Years, video hilariously caught Brady with his phone flashlight on in his back pocket. All I’ll say is, he might not be a good match for someone whose job is social media:

All in all, I would bet most people are like Handler: they don’t really care who Tom Brady is dating. The guy is destined to be an NFL Hall of Famer. Regardless, I would love to know Brady’s thoughts on the comedian’s comments.

August 2024 has already proven itself to be a big month for news about upcoming Yellowstone shows, with the bombshell casting updates about the impending spinoff series, which is (thankfully) no longer going by the 2024 working title. But before we can get too excited about any follow-up stories, fans need the flagship drama to finally close its story out, with Season 5’s final episodes set to arrive on Paramount Network in November. That long-awaited return now feels that much more legitimate with one star revealing they’ve completely wrapped filming for their character.

That’s right, while Yellowstone on the whole isn’t yet finished with filming for Season 5’s remaining installments, star Wendy Moniz took to Instagram with a celebratory tone to reveal that she’s (at least for now) fully completed her arc as Montana Governor-turned-Senator Lynelle Perry. Check out her super-sweet message below, which sparked similarly kind responses from co-star Kelly Reilly and others.

Moniz revealed that her final experiences as Lynelle played out on August 1, and now she’s in the same boat as viewers in the wait for Season 5’s remaining episodes to make it to the small screen. But she actually knows what’s coming, while viewers will remain in the dark for another few months.

It’s not clear whether or not her story will continue to play out in any follow-up series, or if Taylor Sheridan & Co. will indeed close out Lynelle’s arc on the mothership. It’s probably not too surprising that she’s finishing earlier than other co-stars, since her character isn’t as integral to the day-to-day plotting as others, and since she’s most closely tied to Kevin Costner’s John Dutton, who won’t be returning. Being a senator obviously makes her important beyond any shared romantic arcs, so I’m glad Moniz’s character wasn’t sidelined solely due to John’s absence.

Of course, fans are also expecting big deaths to play out in the back half of the season, and Lynelle is as much of a potential victim as anyone else in this story. (I can only hope the show doesn’t feature any political assassination attempts.) But from the responses left by co-stars like Kelly Reilly and Hassie Harrison make it seem like everyone was in good (and still breathing) spirits after Moniz wrapped, so let’s take a look at those instead of pondering her character’s potentially doomed fate.

Beyond the kind words from the esteemed actresses portraying Beth Dutton and Laramie, Wendy Moniz also received supportive comments from Ellis Steele actor J.E. Tracy and the co-creator's wife Nic Sheridan. As well as beloved actresses who aren't even part of theYellowstone-verse, such as comedian Chelsea Handler and Heels vet Mary McCormack.

Yellowstone will at last return to Paramount Network on Sunday, November 10, with more updates to come on what's happening with the sequel series and rumored franchise additions Kurt Russell, Michelle Pfeiffer and Patrick J. This time last week, many were buzzing about the 2024 Golden Globe winners, but the roster of victors wasn’t the biggest story to come out of the awards show. What most were seemingly discussing was host Jo Koy. After his opening monologue, much of the Internet roasted Koy, apparently coming to the conclusion that he bombed. A number of his quips have been maligned by fans and a handful of notable celebrities. Among those who took issue is Koy’s ex-girlfriend and fellow comedian, Chelsea Handler. With that, Handler took aim at him while hosting the Critics’ Choice Awards, specifically referencing a joke in which he threw his writers under the bus.

What Did Jo Koy Say At The Golden Globes In Regard To His Writers?

Jo Koy received backlash for several of his comments, including a joke about Barbie simply being a doll with big boobs and one that took aim at Taylor Swift. Some of the jokes hit while others didn’t seem to connect with the audience at all. While referencing his mixed puns during the segment, he said, “Some I wrote, some other people wrote.” As mentioned by E!, he also said the following: 

All in all, the comments above really seem to have rubbed people the wrong way. The Chelsea Lately star, for her part, has never been one to bite her tongue, so it should be no surprise that she opted to speak up when she got the opportunity to take the stage herself.

Chelsea Handler Responded To The Writer Joke With A Wisecrack Of Her Own

Chelsea Handler’s opening spiel at the CCA seemed to be better received than her ex’s opening comments at the Globes. During her monologue, she joked about Harrison Ford and Robert De Niro while saying that she likes her men “old and hot.” Not only did she refer to Ford as a “smoke show,” but she also joked about her desire to take De Niro and “toss him around like a little Italian meatball.” After the audience laughed, she said the following: 

That quip garnered an even larger response from the crowd. It should be mentioned that her former partner was not mentioned at the time. Nevertheless, those at the event and likely viewers at home as well, seemed to understand what the comic was referring to.

Meanwhile, Jo Koy has been speaking about his hosting experience since that highly discussed night. The star, who did take on the gig on short notice, believes he “did well given the circumstances.” He also spoke about the show during his first post-Globes stand-up gig, referring to the situation as a “fucking whirlwind” and calling those who were at the awards show “marshmallows.”

It’s fair to say that whether the comedian meant offense to writers or not when making his joke, you can’t help but consider the optics of the comments. We did, after all, just finish out a year that saw a historic WGA writers strike take place, during which Hollywood scribes sought better treatment and benefits from the industry at large. There’s no telling if he’ll respond to Chelsea Handler’s latest jab but, at this point, it definitely looks like the ball is in his court.

Rita Ora has been making headlines of late thanks to addressing throuple rumors involving her partner Taika Waititi and Tessa Thompson that ran around the interwebs. But she totally changed the narrative this week when she showed up in a fully see-through dress for a club performance. She wore star pasties and silver underwear under the completely sheer look and a slew of other celebs could not get enough.

The Fifty Shades of Grey actress wore the head-turning look for a performance at Heaven Nightclub in London. Afterward, she took to Instagram to share photos and video from the experience, also writing on the platform, “Hi everyone. I’m so overwhelmed with all the support on my new single ‘You Only Love Me.” Take a look at her ensemble, below.

A lot of other fans on the post commented about the dress itself, noting things like, “What a night x this dress is to die for!” Snaps throughout the night showed off the dress from multiple angles, as well.

The one-shouldered dress is from the brand Avellano, though it’s worth pointing out this isn’t the first time Rita Ora wore a sheer ensemble recently. She chose a purple lace dress to wear to the Netflix Golden Globe And Critics Choice Nominee Toast, choosing to wear black underwear underneath.

Of course, it's worth noting Rita Ora is not the only celebrity to rock a sheer dress of late. Salma Hayek rocked a sheer look just a few days ago. In fact, it's becoming quite the trend, one that Megan Fox perhaps kicked things off with a VMAs appearance in a naked dress. In short order, Florence Pugh also broke the Internet with a red carpet sheer Barbicore Valentino look and other celebrities like Nicole Kidman are even fully embracing the trend. But I have to say, Ora fully owns the see-through dress. 

On January 15th, five days after the winners of the 80th Golden Globes were announced, the 28th Critics’ Choice Award unfolding, providing yet another ceremony to keep track of during awards season. But we’re not here to talk about who walked away with trophies on that night. Instead, it’s time to discuss the ridiculous Cold Stone wall that was set up at the event, and how celebrities like Seth Rogen and Chelsea Handler responded about getting asked to pose in front of it.

The officialseanpenn Instagram account (this isn’t the actual Sean Penn, he has his own verified account) posted a series of photos from Getty Images of actors Andrew Garfield, Kate Hudson, Aubrey Plaza, Jeremy Allen White, Natasha Lyonne and Henry Winkler standing in front of a wall at the Critics’ Choice Awards that was sponsored by Cold Stone Creamery, an ice cream shop staple in the United States. Like some of you may be wondering, the caption of this Instagram post inquires about what the deal with this setup was, like “Were these poor celebs forced to do this? Did any of them know what was going on? Were they given any cold stone in exchange for their participation?” Numerous celebrities shared their experiences in the comments section, so let’s start off with Seth Rogen:

Ok, so Seth Rogen, who presented the Best Comedy Series award at the Critics’ Choice Awards and starred in the Best Picture-nominated movie The Fabelmans, wanted nothing to do with the Cold Stone wall when asked. Fair enough. Next up, we have comedian and talk show host Chelsea Handler, who did pose in front of the wall, but her memories of the experience were hazy.

As for whether or not anything was provided to the celebrities who agreed to pose in front of the Cold Stone wall, Billy Eichner, the lead actor from last year’s Bros (which can be streamed with a Peacock subscription), revealed he did get something in exchange.

Additionally, free Cold Stone Creamery ice cream was being given out in that general area, whether someone posed in front of the wall or not, although apparently almost no one took advantage of the free dessert. We have Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Reboot’s Rachel Bloom to thank for this piece of information.

Finally, pro skateboarder Tony Hawk wrote that Henry Winkler, who’s starring in HBO’s Barry these days, posing in front of the Cold Stone wall was enough incentive for him to do the same.

It’s hard to tell if the Cold Stone wall was a success or not, so I guess we’ll just have to regroup next year at the 29th Critics’ Choice Awards to see if it made a comeback. Seeing something like this at the next Academy Awards ceremony, at the other hand, feels like a pretty safe bet of something that’s not on the table. That free ice cream was a nice bonus though, and I wonder if Amanda Seyfried might have also grabbed some, as it could have easily helped her feel a little better after a wardrobe malfunction forced her to improvise.

On December 8, 2022, The Daily Show hit the end of another era, with host Trevor Noah, who replaced Jon Stewart, leaving the show after seven seasons. Noah will now be spending more time traveling for both pleasure and to do stand-up comedy, but as far as The Daily Show is concerned, it was announced a few days ahead of the comedian’s exit that numerous celebrities will be filling as guest hosts for the foreseeable future. Cut to the beginning of 2023, it’s been announced who will be kicking off this portion of the Comedy Central series’ run.

As had previously been shared, Leslie Jones will be The Daily Show’s first guest host post-Trevor Noah, with her time behind the desk lasting from January 17-19. After that, Wanda Sykes will take over from January 23-26, followed by D.L. Hughley from January 30-February 2, Chelsea Handler from February 6-9, and then Sarah Silverman from February 13-16. But these five celebrities are just the opening salvo of guest hosts, with others on the way including Hasan Minhaj, Al Franken, John Leguizamo, Kal Penn and Marlon Wayans, though no dates for them have been announced yet. Of these individuals, Minhaj is the only one with past Daily Show experience, having previously worked as a correspondent from 2014-2018.

So we now have mid-January-mid February covered on The Daily Show, and with those additional celebrities, that should take us around mid-late March. However, Chris McCarthy, president of Comedy Central and CEO of Paramount Media Networks, previously said that this guest host rotation would unfold until sometime in June. So along with current Daily Show correspondents and contributors, like Roy Wood Jr. and Dulcé Sloan, set to also get guest hosting turns, you can count on more celebrities being announced for that position in the coming months. As McCarthy put it, this period is being used to “really experiment and try different things.”

After that, The Daily Show will go on break until September, when it will “relaunch” with the new permanent host. That being said, Chris McCarthy and The Daily Show showrunner Jen Flanz have said that they’re exploring the possibility of transitioning the series to having multiple anchors/hosts, so it’s entirely possible that the show could end up looking a lot different come this fall. What’s important to remember at the moment, though, is that just because someone is guest hosing The Daily Show doesn’t mean you should consider this their audition to keep the job. This is simply an opportunity to try their hand at hosting this popular cable series in the middle of their other gigs and obligations.

In just two days, The Daily Show hits the end of an era, with Trevor Noah departing the satirical news program after hosting for seven years following Jon Stewart’s exit. Needless to say that ever since it was announced that Noah was leaving The Daily Show on December 8, there’s been the question of who will succeed him as the Comedy Central series’ permanent host. As it turns out, we’ll have to wait to a lot longer than expected to learn that answer, because for a good chunk of the next year, SNL vets and a swarm of other talent will be filling in as guest hosts.

Just like the transition period between Craig Ferguson and James Corden on The Late Late Show, or how Jeopardy! brought in numerous fresh faces to fill in following Alex Trebek’s passing, The Daily Show will be moving ahead with guest hosts to fill in for Trevor Noah in 2023, starting with Leslie Jones, who was a Saturday Night Live cast member from 2014 to 2019, on January 17. Here’s the full list of the announced participating talent (in no particular order other than Jones being first):

• Sarah Silverman
• Chelsea Handler
• Wanda Sykes
• D.L. Hughley
• John Leguizamo
• Kal Penn
• Marlon Wayans
• Hasan Minhaj

Additionally, current Daily Show correspondents and contributors are set to be guest anchors on The Daily Show, with Roy Wood Jr. and Dulcé Sloan being specifically mentioned as in the mix (let’s also not forget that Hasan Minhaj is a former Daily Show correspondent). Executive producer and showrunner Jen Flanz told Vulture that while many, if not most, of these guest hosts will fill in for a week at a time, some may only appear for one night because of their busy schedules/previous commitments. 

Chris McCarthy, president of Comedy Central and CEO of Paramount Media Networks, added that this guest host rotation will unfold between the beginning of 2023 to around June and allow the show “to really experiment and try different things,” meaning that more talent will be announced in the coming weeks. Then The Daily Show will “relaunch in the fall,” i.e. the permanent host will take over in September 2023 and have “a full year to settle in before the 2024 presidential election.”

This isn’t the first time that The Daily Show has had guest host, with one of the more notable examples being when John Oliver sat behind the desk for a few weeks when Jon Stewart took time off to direct Rosewater. That said, Jen Flanz noted that as far as she can remember, “This is the first time we’re really having outsiders into our house.” Flanz also noted that anyone who’s coming in to guest host The Daily Show shouldn’t be seen as candidates to be the permanent host. This is simply an opportunity for various celebrities to pop in and try out hosting The Daily Show for a spell rather than make a full commitment to the gig.

In October, a few weeks after Trevor Noah revealed he was leaving The Daily Show (which apparently ruffled some feathers behind the scenes), the exiting host said he was excited to travel around the world again to do stand-up comedy, as well as do more producing work and spend more time “back home” in South Africa. By November, it was announced that Trevor will begin his Off the Record tour on January 20, which will see him visiting 28 cities in the United States, and international dates will be unveiled later. 

As far as picking a new permanent host for The Daily Show goes, Roy Wood Jr. has been rumored to be in contention for the job, and Chris McCarthy mentioned that these coming months will be a great time for them to “test out those ideas” on evolving the show. Speaking of the Daily Show format, McCarthy and Jen Flanz also said they’re exploring the possibility of transiting the series from the single-anchor format to having co-anchors or multiple co-hosts, i.e. along the lines of SNL’s “Weekend Update” or Good Morning America, but nothing has been decided yet.

For now, you have three more nights to enjoy Trevor Noah behind the desk at The Daily Show. After December 8, the series won’t return until Leslie Jones kicks off the guest hosting run in mid-January. Netflix still looks a little like it’s celebrating Halloween, with the macabre Jenna Ortega-led comedy Wednesday turning the Addamses into streaming’s most popular family, dance sequences and all. But we’re already heading into the month of December, which is traditionally a time for merriment, hot chocolate and Christmas movies out the wazoo. This year is obviously no different, but here and now, we’re looking ahead to a slew of exciting new streaming shows and specials that don’t actually tie into the holidays. (Well, okay, one of them does, as hinted at in the picture above.)

So pull out your branded notebooks, or at least the ones with “Netflix” hastily scrawled across the cover in crayon, and take note of these 11 new and upcoming titles for those with Netflix subscriptions. (And check out our rundown from November to see what you might have missed.)

Hot Skull (December 2)

Potentially your next post-apocalyptic nightmare, Hot Skull is a dystopian tale set in a world where a verbally communicated epidemic is wiping out the population, with a powerful institution and others seeing a possible antidote in the form of a linguist who appears to be immune. The Turkish thriller was created by Mert Baykal, and is based on the novel Sıcak Kafa (Hot Head) by Afşin Kum. Think Stephen King's Cell, just without thinking about the movie adaptation. 

Sebastian Maniscalco: Is It Me? (December 6)

Soon set to appear in the The Super Mario Bros. Movie, as well as head up his first scripted series (as crafted by The Big Bang Theory co-creator Chuck Lorre), stand-up comedian Sebastian Maniscalco will soon debut his fifth full-length special, Is It Me? It marks his second collaboration with Netflix. His latest performance was recorded live in Las Vegas, and fans can look forward to seeing the Irishman actor dressing the part as he jokes about the kinds of human behavior that makes him wonder if he's the only one noticing. 

Lookism (December 8)

Having been delayed from its previous release date due to the Halloween tragedy in Seoul, the anime series Lookism is now set to arrive in the second week of December. Based on the extremely popular Korean Webtoon of the same name, the darkly comedic series centers on a high school outcast who gains access to another body that's the exact opposite of his own, and uses it to lead a double life. Satire at its most physical desirable. 

Don't Pick Up The Phone (December 14)

Netflix has developed its own sub-niche of atypical true crime docuseries, from Tiger King to Don't Fuck with Cats, and that trend continues with the highly curious and just as highly troubling project Don't Pick Up the Phone. As dramatized through Craig Zobel's 2012 feature Compliance, this new docuseries shines a new light on the hoax caller who convinced fast food managers across the country into suspecting and strip-searching their employees. 

Sonic Prime (December 15)

Video game fans have at last been able to breathe easier in recent years when it comes to films and TV shows based on beloved icons, and the upcoming third Sonic the Hedgehog film, as well as its spinoff TV show, brought a lot of much-deserved focus back on the Sega speedster. While waiting on those projects, Netflix's Sonic Prime looks to be more in line with the character's past animated series, only scaled up in the stakes, as the spiky hero's latest quest to defeat Dr. Eggman literally splits the universe. Which hopefully doesn't mean there's a parallel dimension out there populated only by Charmy Bee and Silver the Hedgehog. 

Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery (December 15)

The main exception to this list comprising only brand new Netflix releases, Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery is a one-off special set within the half-improvised comedy universe of Will Arnett's star-studded Murderville, in which guest stars take part in fictional murder investigations without the help of a script. The holiday treat will feature the latest on-screen reunion from former Arrested Development co-stars and current Smartless co-hosts Arnett and Jason Bateman, with additional celebs such as Maya Rudolph, Eliza Coupe, Kurt Braunohler and more. I already wanted to make Marshawn Lynch's episode a yearly tradition, so this makes for a logistical pairing.

Dance Monsters (December 16)

Honestly, Dance Monsters seems like it will either be a uniquely heartwarming surprise, or the dumbest unscripted output from Netflix yet, without much room for middle ground to breakdance upon. It's basically the dance-centric iteration of Fox's short-lived and much-maligned Alter Ego, with contestants showing off their dance skills to judges by way of CGI avatars. Hosted by Pussycat Dolls' Ashley Roberts — with a judges' table featuring R&B fave Ne-Yo, YouTuber and podcaster Lele Pons, and past Brittain's Got Talent winner Ashley Banjo — Dance Monsters will no doubt have Twitter erupting with opinions however it goes. 

The Recruit (December 16)

With The Fosters solidifying his TV stardom, Noah Centineo blew up in wholly new ways thanks to Netflix's To All the Boys films, and fans can soon see him heading up his own new series, which already seems like it'll stand apart from what we're used to seeing him in. (Obviously he did that already with Black Adam's Atom Smasher, but still.) The Recruit stars Centineo as a rookie CIA lawyer who quickly gets ensared in a dangerous situation after a former asset threatens to go public with the agency's secrets. To give fans an idea of what to expect, the thriller was created by Alexi Hawley, who also gave the world both The Rookie series, and served as co-showrunner for The Following and Castle. 

Summer Job (December 16)

Another unscripted series that will no doubt turn social media upside down with reactions, the Italian series Summer Job features a bafflingly similar premise: 10 Gen Z-aged contestants are granted the vacation of their dreams, but in order to earn both their way into the luxurious villa, as well as the mega-money grand prize, they have to — are you sitting down? — get actual jobs and work for it. Expect for this to be the easiest streaming format possible to port to other countries. 

Time Hustler (December 25)

Time Hustler sounds like Brazil's take on Austin Powers, or something in that same evolved-from-SNL ballpark (baby, yeah), as the Christmas Day release centers on a man who gets hit on the head and wakes up in the year 1927, sharing the exact appearance of a notorious and uncaptured bandit of the time. Naturally, he's inspired to take advantage of his bizarre and unpredictable situation, which is probably a lot easier to do without phones and cameras everywhere.

Chelsea Handler: Revolution (December 27)

With post-Christmas hangovers still weighing heavily in everyone's memories, Chelsea Handler will be there to draw laughter out through the pain via her latest stand-up special Revolution (which is seemingly a play on the title of her 2020 HBO Max special Evolution). The outspoken comedian will tackle topics such as her romantic relationships (or lack thereof), her choice to stay childless, and dealing with family during the pandemic. This marks her latest project for the streaming giant, for which she'd previously produced and headed up the talk show Chelsea, three docuseries and the 2014 stand-up special Uganda Be Kidding Me: Live. 

Netflix definitely has a slew of other big TV and movie premieres in December that aren't listed above, such as returning seasons from Emily in Paris, Alice in Borderland, The Circle and Too Hot to Handle. Kevin Hart announced that his father Henry Witherspoon has died. The actor shared a heartfelt Instagram post honoring his father. Hart has four kids of his own, and he shared how his father helped him become a better dad. Along with Hart’s post, many celebrities have been commenting their condolences to support him through this time. 

In an interview with Stephen Colbert back in 2017 (via ET), Hart explained that he had a turbulent relationship with his father when he was young, but it has been repaired. He spoke candidly about his dad not being present during his childhood. Hart also said that he’s a “positive guy” and because of that his relationship with his dad had been “amazing” later in their lives. To honor his late father the comedian posted a few family photos on his Instagram along with a heartfelt caption: 

Following the post, over a million people liked it, and many celebrities and friends of Hart’s gave him their condolences. Including fellow comedian Wanda Sykes, who wrote:

Many of Hart’s stand-up comedian colleagues also commented. This included Chelsea Handler, who had had Hart on her old Netflix talk show, she wrote: 

She’s right, Witherspoon did get to see a lot of his son's successes. From Hart’s best movies to his production company Hartbeat Productions merging with Laugh Out Loud. The actor has made big moves in Hollywood, and his dad got to be there for a lot of it.  

On top of all of this, he has also maintained a stand-up career, where he occasionally incorporates his father into his jokes. Fellow stand-up comedian Hasan Minhaj, who just released his second special The King’s Jester, commented: 

Hart has stayed on top of the business, and as one of the hardest-working guys in Hollywood, it’s nice his father got to see his success. As the rapper T-Pain commented:

While he’s frequented the 2022 movie schedule, he’s also a family man. He’s told lots of fun stories about his four kids. He also sweetly surprised his wife for her birthday this year. While it’s incredibly sad his father is gone, I’m happy he has his family and friends there to support him. 

The comedic world has taken quite a scary hit over the past few days, as Chelsea Handler and her former Chelsea Lately co-star, Heather McDonald, both suffered unrelated health scares while out on their stand-up tours. Handler posted an update from the hospital, as she was forced to postpone a couple of dates on her tour. McDonald, meanwhile, suffered a skull fracture after collapsing on stage during a show.

Chelsea Handler didn’t address why she was in the hospital when she posted to her Instagram stories, just calling it a “scare” and saying she was going to take a couple of weeks to recover before resuming her Vaccinated and Horny Tour. In her video, Handler said (via ET):

Her Instagram page also provided an update for ticketholders for two stops on the tour in Oregon, announcing that the dates have been pushed back a month. The comedian said she was “deeply saddened” by the sudden change of plans: 

Meanwhile Heather McDonald, who was a writer on Chelsea Lately for its eight-season run and often appeared in the show’s sketches, sustained her injury during a stand-up show in Tempe, Arizona. An update was posted to her Facebook page on February 6:

The Facebook post also said that Heather McDonald had received a COVID booster three weeks ago, and she had been tested for COVID and remained negative. McDonald also posted a video update to her Instagram Stories to apologize to fans (via People): 

According to TMZ, she collapsed after making a health-related joke: "I'm vaxxed, double vaxxed, boosted ... and flu shot and shingle shot and haven't gotten COVID and Jesus loves me most." Members of the sold-out audience reportedly thought it was part of the act at first but, when it became clear that something was wrong, an EMT and a nurse in the audience ran on stage to help her. 

Those are certainly two scary situations, and we hope that Chelsea Handler and Heather McDonald continue to recover. Of course, let's also hope that they take the time they need before getting back out on the road.

Chelsea Handler’s Netflix talk show, Chelsea, premiered in 2016. In late 2017, Handler announced that she would be ending the show after two seasons. As of July 2019, there is less of Handler’s talk show to watch on Netflix.

The streaming giant apparently purged episodes of Chelsea from binge-ability. Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s vice president of nonfiction series and comedy specials, explained the decision, per The New York Times. Netflix wanted to make it easier for viewers to locate the most recent episodes of Chelsea following the first season but ahead of the second. Few viewers seemed to have noticed before now. Chelsea premiered Season 2 in April 2017 and ended in December 2017.

Regardless, the decision is a history-making one for the streamer. How? It is reportedly the first time that Netflix has ever removed content it owns and created. For a streaming platform that is built around having loads of content, it begs the question: why is Netflix going the way of a purge?

Even though I think scanning for the latest offerings is pretty straightforward, many other subscribers may not find it as seamless. The move undoubtedly made sense at the time, although it apparently failed to save the series. So far, Netflix has removed 66 episodes of Chelsea.

To give that number context, the first season of Chelsea Handler’s talk show was comprised of 90 episodes. Making the number of installments left less than half of that original episode count. When you go to Netflix, it now lists what is available of Season 1 as a collection of the “best of 2016.”

Chelsea Handler has moved on since she decided to put an end to her Netflix talk show. The comedian and talk show host signed a first-look producing deal with Universal Television and Universal Alternative Studio. At the time, Handler said she was excited to work with NBCUniversal.

Netflix opting to organize episodes of Chelsea Handler’s talk show under the "best of" banner could help stimulate renewed interest. Unless you are like me, and stuff centered on older headlines is still enjoyable to watch as archival content.

For now, it is another turbulent twist for Chelsea Handler on Netflix. Not long after Chelsea's debut, the series had some behind-the-scenes issues. It has been almost two years since it ended, but Handler still has a presence on the streamer. Chelsea Handler’s docu-series, Chelsea Does, appears to still be streaming in its entirety on Netflix.

Talk shows have not had the best luck on Netflix. Joel McHale’s streaming answer to The Soup got the cancellation treatment with relative haste, and it was not the only talk show that got cancelled at the time.

You can catch what remains of Chelsea Handler’s talk show, Chelsea, on Netflix. Plenty of exciting content is coming to the streamer in the not-too-distant future as well. Netflix’s Stranger Things is among television’s summer premieres.

In the past, particularly during her spell hosting E!'s Chelsea Lately, Chelsea Handler would often make Angelina Jolie the butt of her jokes. After all, the actress/director is wealthy, famous and beautiful to boot. It was the class clown making fun of the most popular girl in school, at least in the comedienne's view. But looking back, Handler believes that she went just a little too far by constantly poking at Jolie's ribs. In a recent interview, Chelsea Handler admits that she regrets making as many jokes as she did at Jolie's expense, realizing now that she was simply "trying to do her best" as well and that her gags were ultimately too harsh.

As Chelsea Handler explained in the clip from Bravo's Watch What Happens Live! With Andy Cohen, she is more understanding and empathetic to Angelina Jolie now than she was in the past. While Handler later admits that she will not "hang out" with Jolie anytime soon, the comedienne can appreciate the hard work that she does — as an actress, filmmaker, mother and activist. Handler now realizes that her constant remarks directed at Angelina Jolie were, ultimately, a bit uncalled for. Or, at the very least, a little too much. Does that mean Handler likes Jolie now? It is hard to say. But if you see one of Chelsea Handler's upcoming stand-up shows, you might not hear as many jokes about Angelina Jolie as you would've heard before.

Chelsea Handler appeared on the Bravo talk show program to promote her latest autobiographical book, Life Will Be The Death Of Me: ... And You Too!, which hit bookshelves on April 9th. The memoir is centered around the former talk show host's year of self-discovery, where she talks about life, loss and pain — particularly after the events of 2016.

In the process of looking back and reflecting on her past and evaluating the future, Handler also realizes that she was perhaps a little too mean on Angelina Jolie over the years. While she can't take back what she said in the past, Handler can recognize that she might've spoken out-of-turn — and maybe push back on the negativity she produced with her early comedy, namely with Jolie.

Is the turning of a new leaf for Chelsea Handler, or are these re-contextualized feelings going to be short-lived? We'll just have to wait and see. But for now, Chelsea Handler is not planning to make fun of Angelina Jolie again soon.

Chelsea Handler has had a pretty solid run since ending her show on E! and making the jump to Netflix, and now that she's wrapped her talk show Chelsea for the service, she's making more big moves. Handler signed a first-look producing deal with Universal Television and Universal Television Alternative Studio, which will put her back in the fold with her former employer, NBCUniversal. The deal will put Handler on the development side of some shows for the NBC family, but still allow her to work with Netflix, where she is already hard at work on a new docu-series.

Chelsea Handler's production deal includes both scripted and unscripted programming, and while Handler has nothing unscripted she's a part of at the moment, she's already tagged as an executive producer on a couple dramas. Handler is on the job and listed as an executive producer for the upcoming Hulu dramedy Unspeakable, as well as the TNT drama I Hate The Internet. Deadline reported Handler received praise from her new partners, Universal Television and Universal Television Alternative Studio, with the top brass in each company stating that Handler's creativity and ability to make people laugh are driving factors behind the two studios wishing to snag her up.

The reasons the NBCU companies wanted Chelsea Handler back are the exact same reasons she exited the brand years ago. After leaving E! in 2014, Handler put the network on blast in the media and stated she wasn't a fan of the network's executives never being able to think big. Handler also stated that she felt like she had "no creative license," while under NBCU's umbrella, as jokes were constantly thrown out due to potential conflicts with advertisers. Handler's change of heart perhaps proves that time really does heal all wounds, or, perhaps the network is now ready to stand behind the comedian more after seeing the success she's experienced elsewhere.

Though Chelsea Handler's Netflix series Chelsea has concluded, she'll still have a working relationship with Netflix. Handler is currently making another original docu-series for the platform, which will focus on the subject of white privilege. Handler's continued work with Netflix might be enough to scratch that creative itch she felt denied of when she was at E!, which might make any liberties lost by making her way back into cable a little easier to take. Handler didn't address any of her past remarks in her statement regarding the deal, and sounds very eager to jump into working with others to bring her creative flair to their projects:

Netflix is known for creating different flavors of TV in just about any genre imaginable, and it perhaps unexpectedly entered into the "late night" talk show realm with Chelsea, putting comedian and veteran host Chelsea Handler center stage to bring topical conversations to the streaming giant's library. But it looks like that's already coming to a close, as Handler herself has decided to end Chelsea after two seasons, with Season 3 no longer a prospect for Netflix.

While there are myriad reasons why one might choose to depart a TV show that likely wouldn't have gotten deliberately cancelled by the outlet producing it, Chelsea Handler is calling it quits with Chelsea over a dissatisfaction with a lot of recent events in the U.S., with most of them falling under the political umbrella. Not the most unexpected reasoning, considering Handler's point of view on a lot of different issues, and she says that Netflix is supportive of her decision.

Chelsea Handler made the big announcement herself on social media, where it's noted that she definitely isn't done working with Netflix, just the Chelsea series itself. And she's not even done with the show just yet, as there are still quite a few Season 2 episodes left to air throughout the rest of 2017. Handler will be working with Netflix on a documentary that will see her engaging in conversations with people of all races, religions and political ideologies. You can check out the full post below.

While Netflix has long been known to keep its viewership and ratings statistics under lock and key, Chelsea reportedly wasn't exactly bringing in the kind of numbers that other popular streaming series get, and the critics weren't exactly in love with the show when it first came out. The initial problems were made fairly clear whenever the show had to change showrunners, and eventually switched up its format between Season 1 and Season 2. Previously, Chelsea put out half-hour episodes that were released three times a week, but then things switched to an hour-long format with episodes being released once a week. And that's how it'll go out.

Considering the excellent guests Handler usually brings to the Netflix series -- in the past month or so, she's had everyone from Kevin Hart to Billie Jean King to Jackie Chan to Reggie Bush to Broad City's Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson -- we're definitely looking forward to some magnificent people showing up to send the show off gracefully. Here's hoping Chelsea Handler continues doing the kind of things that keep her mentally sated.

Netflix has spent recent years really pushing out original content. This includes comedies and dramas, but also kids shows, documentaries, animated programs and even a talk show starring Chelsea Handler. Although this increase in originals has led to the loss of some fan-favorite TV shows on the subscription streaming service, overall, Netflix is contributing a lot to the golden age of television, and it looks like the company will continue to go big or go home in 2017.

It’s been two years since Chelsea Handler left the E! network to do her own talk show on Netflix, marking the first time the streaming service would be utilizing a talk show format. Her new show, Chelsea, has only been on for three weeks with a total of 9 episodes, but the show is already experiencing major behind the scenes drama. It’s just been announced that Bill Wolff, who served as executive producer and showrunner, will be leaving the show.

As reported by Deadline, Bill Wolff will be leaving Chelsea for undisclosed reasons. He joined the show back in September and spent 9 months with Chelsea Handler creating the show and getting it ready for production. There doesn’t seem to be any ill will between the two parties, as both Handler and Wolff wished each other luck in the future. Bill Wolff’s position has not been replaced yet, with many speculating that Chelsea won’t designate a new showrunner at all. No one new has been brought in, and everyone will remain in their current position, with Handler being very creatively involved. Additionally, there will be no disruption to Chelsea’s current schedule, with episodes continuing to air on time.

Bill Wolff was something of a talk show veteran. He had what’s described as a “rocky” one-year tenure on The View, and he created and executive producer The Rachel Maddow Show.

Chelsea is a talk show on Netflix that utilizes studio interviews with a mix of fieldwork. Chelsea is currently slated for 90 half-hour episodes, with 9 having aired so far. The talk show airs three new episodes a week, on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. This is a first for Netflix, which usually just releases every episode at once, although that really isn’t a model for a talk show format. Chelsea has so far gotten a mixed reactions from fans.

For those curious about how a Netflix talk show works, here is a clip of Chelsea interviewing some of the cast of Captain America: Civil War. It’s an interview over dinner so the answers feel more natural, but it may come off as semi-awkward.

Chelsea airs new episodes on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and all episodes can be watched on Netflix. Their most recent episode featured Ashton Kutcher as the main guest.

Two years after the end of her E! talk series, Chelsea Handler is preparing to launch a brand new show in a brand new way. She’s signed on with Netflix for Chelsea, a new talk series that will be produced three times per week on Netflix for a worldwide audience (that is, if Handler catches on outside of the US). She’s obviously pretty jazzed about the new sort of TV project, and she’s using the platform as a launch pad to talk about what’s wrong with late night, and namely Stephen Colbert’s new show. Here’s what she had to say in a recent interview.

Look: It’s a widely known fact that Stephen Colbert didn’t come in and just totally dominate the competition in late night. He and Jimmy Kimmel have been scrambling to beat each other in the ratings week in and week out, and both of them are getting their butts kicked by Jimmy Fallon, who totally seems to have the late night game figured out. Now, CBS is even looking to revamp The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in order to entice more viewers. But Stephen Colbert has also made a concerted effort to bring a sharper edge to late night, bringing in politicians, inventors, entrepreneurs and a much wider spectrum of late night guests. His strength is in his interviews, which I guess is similar to Letterman, but the show’s really not. He’s also buttoned up quite a bit from his days on Comedy Central.

I can see how Chelsea Handler would want to bring up a conversation with the NY Times about the homogenous nature of late night. Yes, there isn’t enough diversity in late night. But to call out Stephen Colbert as if he’s somehow the root of the problem is pretty unnecessary. And to say he's simply trying to be Letterman 2.0 seems really unfair, or at least proves that she needs to give the show another watch.

It’s all probably in a drive to prove what Chelsea Handler is doing is very different than the other talk show fodder out there. She’s not sitting on a panel with a bunch of ladies talking about controversial topics in a light manner early in the morning before the coffee jitters have set in. She’s not doing what the late night boys are doing—trying to beat the competition through viral videos and more. In fact, she won’t have to worry about the ratings as much on Netflix. She just needs to figure out how to get content out there that is still timely and interesting while maintaining an evergreen quality that fits the binge model. It’s a task and we’re interested to see if she can do it, but that doesn’t mean she needs to slam her competition on the way up.

Streaming services like Netflix have become the go-to place for the “binge watchers” of the world. As most of the TV seasons produced by these services hit their respective platforms all at once, people have become used to taking in an entire year’s worth of content over a weekend. It’s a winning formula, but now it seems Netflix and Chelsea Handler will once again team up to deviate from that method and provide audiences with a weekly series. Continuing her rapid ascent towards becoming the queen of Netflix, Chelsea Handler has just revealed the details behind her latest show for the streaming service on Twitter. The series will take the format of a talk show, something Handler has become more than familiar with in recent years, and produce three shows per week with each episode being released on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The rationale for this method seems to be due to the format of the upcoming series. As a talk show host, Chelsea Handler needs a platform that will allow her to tackle issues in a timely manner. Producing an entire season of television, and releasing it all at once isn't necessarily conducive to a program that will likely tackle incredibly topical and relevant concepts.

Chelsea Handler also used her tweet as an opportunity to humorously provide us with many other details about the series, which you can check out, below, if you can decipher her handwriting.

The show will see her travelling around, and allow her to try new things, not unlike her other Netflix series, Chelsea Does , and she has three potential guests that she will never give up on: the pope, Michelle Obama, and the maid of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Anyone who knows anything about how Netflix does television will recognize that this deviates from the platform’s typical method of releasing an entire season of content at once. That being said, this isn’t the first time that Netflix has broken their all at once formula. Last year we also reported on the sci-fi Netflix series Between, which similarly staggered its release of episodes.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that Netflix has begun to completely shy away from the all at once method they have become known for. Plenty of upcoming series, such as the second season of Daredevil, or the second season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, will maintain the tried and true method of providing an entire season of content to users in one fell swoop. If nothing else, we’re simply excited for Chelsea Handler’s new talk show to stand out from the pack as a change of pace compared to what we’re used to.

The world of late night talk shows isn’t often one of fluid tumultuousness and frequent reorganization, but the last couple of years have seen nearly constant changes on all fronts. Some desk-bound stalwarts are leaving, some have already left, and new faces are here to take their places. It’s a far different time from the days when Jack Paar and Steve Allen were the cream of the crop, and so we thought we’d pay tribute to the after-hours hosts by ranking the 15 greatest late night personalities of the modern era.

No, you won’t find the still-in-its-youth Last Week Tonight here, nor the ridiculously short-lived Chevy Chase Show. But we’ll certainly be seeing another Saturday Night Live vet in here somewhere.

15. Tom Snyder

Because of his newscasting background, Tom Snyder could sometimes come across as the driest of all the late night hosts, but it also meant that he was capable of delivering an interview that you just wouldn’t see on anyone else’s program. As the chainsmoking host of Tomorrow with Tom Snyder, he interviewed the Sex Pistols, John Lennon and Charles Manson. And when he debuted as host of the newly-formed Late Late Show in 1995, he kept the no-audience interviews going, perhaps most notably with a pre-arrest Robert Blake. Nobody did cool like Tom Snyder.

14. Joan Rivers

Joan Rivers became a household name as a Tonight Show guest, certainly a feat on its own, and ended up becoming the first female late show host in 1986 with Fox’s The Late Show with Joan Rivers. (A show that essentially ended the close friendship between Rivers and Johnny Carson.) The ratings were unfortunately abysmal, since Fox was still struggling at that time, and she and her producer husband were soon fired and replaced by others. And though she went on to host other successful series, I always wished Rivers would return to late night in some way.

13. Craig Kilborn

Can’t you just hear that opening lick of “Play that Funky Music?” Starting out as a Sportscenter anchor, Craig Kilborn brought Comedy Central’s The Daily Show to national prominence in 1996, leaving that show behind to take over The Late Late Show in 1999. With segments like “5 Questions” and “Yambo,” Kilborn tried to spice up the late night scene by keeping things playful, and he was pretty successful at it, depending on who you talk to. He exited the show rather abruptly in 2004, and has yet to return to the late night format. Or any longterm hosting format, really.

12. Bill Maher

Arguably the most “love him or hate him” entry on this list, the sarcasm-spewing Bill Maher is undoubtedly the King of Opinionated Late Night. With the long-running Politically Incorrect, Maher mixed politics and comedy years before The Daily Show would excel at it. Maher then wisely jumped from broadcast TV to HBO for the even more pointed talk show Real Time with Bill Maher. Despite not having a closet full of Emmys to go along with his plethora of nominations, Maher remains as pundit-ly poignant as ever, since the political machine will never stop whirring.

11. Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon, who left Saturday Night Live in 2004, took over NBC’s Late Night after Conan O’Brien went off on his shortlived Tonight Show stint. Oddly enough, Fallon also followed in O’Brien’s footsteps (and Jay Leno’s) when he took over The Tonight Show in February 2014. Though his signature style of laughing at everything grates some viewers’ nerves, there’s no denying that he turned The Tonight Show into a celebrity-drenched viral phenomenon, bringing a slew of younger viewers to the late night crowd.

10. Jay Leno

Jay Leno is a prime example of how a job can change a man, as his run on The Tonight Show turned him from a genius stand-up comic into a rounded-out showman. A genial and supremely talented showman, to be sure, since honing oneself to an audience is probably the best way to keep a hosting gig for over 20 years. Removing personal opinions about how his shortlived Tonight Show exit went, Leno seems like the kind of guy that could walk into any room imaginable and win at least most of the audience over. And if all else fails, there’s always “Headlines.”

9. Chelsea Handler

It’s a damned crime that there aren’t more women in the late night host annals, but I’m pretty sure Chelsea Handler would have run them all out of the room anyway. When she started up E!’s Chelsea Lately in 2007, Handler was an instant firecracker, mixing lewdness and pop culture with a revolving door of promising new comedians and performers beyond her celebrity guests. We can’t wait to see what she does next with her Netflix-exclusive series coming next year. We’re going to watch it late at night, so that she still fits on this list.

8. Arsenio Hall

With a seemingly endless abundance of energy, Arsenio Hall broke out in the late night game taking over The Late Show after Joan Rivers’ run, soon getting his own Arsenio Hall Show, which ran in syndication from 1989-1994. He got a second chance to achieve post-primetime fame with the revived series of the same name, but it only lasted a single season from 2013-2014, despite a Season 2 renewal. It’s a shame, as Hall’s interview style was enjoyably relaxed and often silly, with a selection of guests – Jim Henson, Jason Voorhies, Bill Clinton – that rivaled any other show.

7. Stephen Colbert

The one person on this list whose hosting persona is a fictional extension of his own personality, Stephen Colbert stepped out of his Daily Show correspondent spot to make some Eagle-wing-shaped waves as the host of the satirically conservative Comedy Central series The Colbert Report. With an unwinking smile and a reliance on The Word, Colbert often used hyperbole to make his points; it sometimes led to awkward interviews, but they were almost always memorable. He’ll be taking over for David Letterman as the Late Show host starting in September, and we’re optimistic he’ll make a smooth bear-free transition.

6. Jimmy Kimmel

As the former host of Win Ben Stein’s Money and The Man Show, Jimmy Kimmel seemed destined for late night stardom, and it came in 2003 when he brought Jimmy Kimmel Live! to audiences on ABC. (It’s not actually live, as Thomas Jane’s filthy mouth put an end to that fairly quickly.) Though it took Kimmel a while to fully adjust himself to the gig, the show has become an online sensation in recent years, with nearly every episode producing viral videos, often involving people reading Mean Tweets about themselves.

5. Craig Ferguson

Stand-up comic and actor Craig Ferguson wasn’t necessarily the most obvious choice to take over The Late Late Show following Craig Kilborn’s departure, but he immediately made it his own. Who needs a human sidekick when you can use a skeleton named Geoff and a pantomime horse named Secretariat? Though the series had its fair share of jokes and silliness, Ferguson was a master storyteller, and often worked more serious subject matter into his interviews and segments to accompany the product plugging. His presence on late night, which came to an end after Stephen Colbert landed the Late Show job, has been missed.

4. Jon Stewart

With pointed flabbergast and anger-tinged sarcasm as his biggest weapons, Jon Stewart turned The Daily Show from a humorous talk show into a nightly social studies lesson. By honing down the most important events plaguing 24-hour news cycles, Stewart has given a flashy education to his series’ younger demographic, and he’s seemingly one of the few hosts out there whose form of self-editing is largely absent. His upcoming departure from The Daily Show will be almost as hard to take as (insert joke about any Presidential administration), and I can’t foresee anyone as a suitable replacement.

3. Conan O’Brien

With a head full of red hair and The Simpsons on his resume, Conan O’Brien was tapped to take over as host of Late Night when David Letterman shot out for CBS. With Andy Richter and drummer Max Weinberg’s band (and a masturbating bear) by his side, O’Brien became an instant jolt of offbeat comedy and absurdity. Though it seemed like his Tonight Show snafu might derail the host completely, O’Brien changed things up for TBS’ Conan, which is arguably an even more enjoyable series than Late Night was. Viva la Cuba!

2. Johnny Carson

There’s no way to sum up what Johnny Carson meant to the world of late night hosting, as he serves as the clear connection between the format’s early years and the modern era. As the host of The Tonight Show from 1962 until 1992, Carson was a towering benchmark for many hosts to come, and inspired just about anyone who ever sat behind a talk show desk, late night or otherwise. Beyond the stellar bits like Carnac the Magnificent, The Tonight Show created careers for comedians and other entertainers, and Carson was the man to impress in those situations. His career and influence are unparalleled.

1. David Letterman

Yes, Johnny Carson may be the most inspirational talk show host who ever lived, but he bowed out in 1992, when the late night scene was started to thrive. (Because of age, but still.) David Letterman got his big break in 1982 on NBC’s post-Carson Late Night, for which he served as the kooky young guy running around Rockerfeller Plaza until 1992, when he was surprisingly passed over for the Tonight Show gig so that Jay Leno could achieve stardom. From there, Letterman hopped ship to CBS for The Late Show, created just for him. With only a minimal insertion of calmness, Letterman has been rocking the Late Show stage ever since, and over the years has run the emotional gamut from hilarious to sincere to pissed off to sardonic to saddened. He lived to see late night explode, and will presumably leave an enormous crater when he steps down from the Late Show desk in May. We’ll all just have to start contacting the home office in Sioux City, Iowa to get our own Top Ten lists from now on.

Netflix is no stranger to comedy, but they've upped their game by announcing four exclusive new comedy specials that will begin streaming in the next few months. (Take that, werewolf soap opera!) The biggest name on the list is BIll Cosby, whose latest hour of stand-up is scheduled to fall somewhere in between performances by the stellar comics Jim Jefferies, Bill Burr, Chelsea Peretti and Chelsea Handler, whose special was previously announced. Watch out, Comedy Central.

Last month, Cosby taped Bill Cosby 77 at the SF Jazz Center in San Francisco to celebrate his own 77th birthday. The comedian, whose upcoming NBC pilot recently starting moving forward, can be seen telling his latest batch of stories when the hour-long engagement hits the streaming service just after midnight on Friday, November 28. Bill Cosby at 77, directed by Robert Townsend, follows last year’s Bill Cosby: Far From Finished, his first trip back up on the stand-up stage in 30 years.

Chelsea Handler will be moving to a more permanent place on Netflix’s schedule when her new talk show debuts in 2016, but Uganda Be Kidding Me Live will be the first of four docucomedies she’s releasing in between now and then. The special is set to hit Netflix on Friday, October 10, around a month and a half after her E! series Chelsea Lately airs its final episode on August 26. Jim Jefferies, whose riotous FX series Legit was recently cancelled (and has its first season now on Netflix), will premiere his newest stand-up Jim Jefferies: BARE on Friday, August 29. Filmed in Boston’s Wilbur Theatre, this special is in TWO WEEKS, people! I’m a huge Jefferies fan – not that I dislike anyone on this list in the least – but every one of his specials has been pure gold. One of them is on Netflix now. Find it.

Bill Burr (Breaking Bad) is just as good at Jefferies at elevating depressing material to darkly hilarious heights. His latest offering, I’m Sorry You Feel That Way, was taped at Atlanta’s Tabernacle and will hit Netflix on Friday, December 5. You can also find two of his three previous specials streaming right now, and you won’t be disappointed.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Chelsea Peretti is a deceptively intelligent ray of sunshiney bliss, and her new special is set to turn the usual stand-up hour on its head. Directed by Lance Bangs, One of the Greats will puts Peretti’s talents for writing and performing on full display, and will hit Netflix on Friday, November 14.

With Chelsea Lately winding down its final season at E!, the big question has been, what will host Chelsea Handler do next? The answer: She's going to Netflix! Chelsea Handler has secured herself a multi-tiered deal with the streaming video service, which includes a stand up comedy special, coming this fall, and four docu-comedy specials, which Netflix has lined up for 2015. Oh yeah, and she'll also have the first ever talk show for the "global on-demand generation."

Netflix made the announcement today, stating that Chelsea Handler will join with Netflix to create a brand new talk show, which will begin in early 2016 and will debut simultaneously in all Netflix territories. Though Netflix doesn't outright compare this new talk show with Handler's popular E! series Chelsea Lately, they do note that the new show will feature "an updated format that still encompasses Chelsea's unfiltered opinions on topical entertainment and cultural issues," along with guest interviews.

2016 is a long way off, but as we mentioned, the deal Handler made with Netflix includes a number of other projects, including a one-hour stand-up comedy performance based on her sold-out tour, "Uganda Be Kidding Me" Live. Handler will tape the special June 20th at the Harris Theater. And then next year, Handler will make the four new docu-comedy specials, which will be available exclusively through Netflix and will focus on everything from NASCAR to politics to Silicon Valley and the NBA draft.

We learned earlier this year that Chelsea Handler's contract at E! was expiring, and that she was planning to leave Chelsea Lately once the clock ran out. So we've been waiting to see what the comedian would do next. With her focus on current events and pop culture, not to mention comedy, it sounds like she's sticking to her strengths here, and Netflix will reap the benefits.

So fans of Handler will have to wait a couple years to the comedian back in the talk show business in full force, once her E! show wraps up later this summer. But it sounds like she has enough going on at Netflix over the next couple of years to build a pretty big presence at the streaming video service while she and her partners in Borderline Amazing, Tom Brunelle and Brad Wollack develop the new talk show.

In the meantime, while they're less known for talk shows, Netflix continues to build its stand-up comedy slate. Between exclusives and distribution of previously aired specials, Netflix has no shortage of laugh-worthy stand-up programming. The subscription service played host to Aziz Ansari's comedy special and has also distributed stand-up specials featuring Craig Ferguson, John Hodgman, Rob Schneider, John Caparulo, Marc Maron and Moshe Kasher.

Just to lay all this out in simpler terms. Here's what Handler has going on at Netflix:

There isn’t a huge female presence in late night talk television, but for eight years Chelsea Handler has dominated the genre, handling E’s late night talk scene presence like a pro. Now, that stint looks as if it will be coming to an end. On Sunday, Handler’s manager, Irving Azoff spoke out to say that Handler will be leaving the cable network when her contract ends at the end of 2014.

Here’s what we know. Handler has found pretty major success in her late night slot, but in recent years her ratings have been slipping a little bit. At the same time, she has nabbed gigs on other television programs and in films, including This Means War, Fun Size and several episodes of Web Therapy. Additionally, her latest book, Uganda Be Kidding Me has been doing pretty well on the New York Times Bestseller list. It makes sense that she might want to head away from E! and sign on for a new project, but we still have no idea what that gig might be.

Handler’s known for plenty of outrageous behavior and one-liners associated with late nights and an unabashed love for sex. As funny as she may be, she doesn’t seem like a tame enough personality for network television, so we have to wonder what the late night host and sometimes actress has in the cards coming up. It seems like she is in pretty high demand, however. According to an interview Azoff gave with THR, Handler currently has “seven suitors” circling around her meaning a new gig is likely to land before her contract is up.

Still, this whole thing could be Azoff blowing smoke in order to create some negotiating leverage moving forward. While Handler is as big of a name as ever, her ratings are not increasing. They’re ever so slowly going the other way. With her contract up in a little less than a year, she and her representative may think E! will try to force her to take less money. So, claiming she’s going to leave could convince the network to come to the bargaining table early. After all, while she might not bring in the numbers she once did, she still does better than her lead-ins and attracts a lot of publicity

Thus far, E! has refused to comment on any of these shenanigans. That’s highly unlikely to change either. Most companies have some kind of standard policy about refusing to address contract matters publicly. Besides, it’s nothing but bad press to answer any of these charges.

If there was ever a woman who was born to get up to ridiculous nonsense, it was probably Chelsea Handler. The Chelsea Lately host recently went on vacation, where she decided to go paddle boarding. During the course of the activity, an unusual thing happened: Handler was attacked by a sea lion.

Off the bat, this story seems like a ludicrous tale; however, Chandler first spoke of the event on her September 4 show, stating she was paddle boarding in the Pacific Ocean when a rogue sea lion took a chunk out of her leg. According to Us Weekly, the celebrity even lifted up her left leg to show her bandages before talking about the wounds.

Handler says she used some safari survival skills to keep herself from further injury and to scare the animal away. Apparently, the “loud noises” advice is legitimate.

While using a safari guide’s advice to survive may not be as impressive as the kid who remembered reality TV instructions for survival while being consumed by an alligator, Pop Blend is glad Handler survived so her late night show could move to a bigger studio, and so the host could keep on telling a slew of whoppers and truths.

Serbia is a tiny country in southeast Europe that most of us couldn’t find on a map without a tour guide. They’re effectively the world’s Wyoming. We poke fun at them because as far as we’re concerned, no one lives there anyway. Chelsea Handler is finding out the “hard way” that Serbs are no laughing matter. After making a disparaging joke about the European country in regards to the god-awful Amy Winehouse concert last week(aren’t those a dime a dozen these days?) a movement has been started to boycott the C-List late-night-starlet.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that a Serbian rights group started a Facebook page in response to Handler’s comments. Apparently they think their relevance exists in a high enough echelon that such a thing makes a lick of difference; isn’t that just adorable? What is actually offensive about Handler’s comments is her defense of Amy Winehouse. Seriously? It’s Amy Winehouse. She’s enemy number one in this story, not the poor bastards foolish enough to buy tickets to her show. Okay, okay, so maybe there are no victims in this story, but what is shown here is the power of Facebook and its’ ability to thrust a small movement into the limelight.
