The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga is approaching its culmination, and that’ll begin with Avengers: Doomsday. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film is set to see various heroes across the multiverse take on the threat of Doctor Doom (played by Robert Downey Jr.). Fans have been anxiously awaiting a first look at this 2026 movie schedule entry and, now, they have it by way of the first official trailer. It delivers on the film’s promise of uniting the heroes, but what I really love is the role Thor has seemingly taken on.

Thor Steps Up In A Big Way In The Avengers: Doomsday Trailer

Although there are plenty of heroes in the fold with this story, Thor has the most prominent role in this particular trailer, and I love it. It’s Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder who narrates the trailer and stresses to his comrades that they must work together to defeat this new threat. All in all, Hemsworth delivers this dialogue with conviction, and it’s great to see him taking center stage. What’s more is that we even get a shot of him going at Doom head on, and I’m both excited and nervous about how that bout might play out.

What the Asgardian God’s comments represent are the sage advice of a person who’s been around and seen his fair share of battles. I especially get chills when I hear the character talk about having fought alongside fallen warriors “far stronger than” him and his cohorts put together. And as he points out, those fighters died facing enemies that can’t even match Doom’s power. I was thinking new Captain America Sam Wilson would essentially serve as the Avengers’ new leader and, while that may be the case, Thor could be second to him.

Fans probably should’ve assumed Thor would take on a more serious role, given that Doomsday teaser that saw him praying to Odin. I love how Hemsworth is more than rising to the occasion and proving why his character has “earned his seat at the table,” so to speak. The Australian actor may have felt like an “elder” while filming with some of his younger co-stars but, if you ask me, this OG member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes isn’t showing any signs of aging.

Various MCU Heroes Will Unite (And Clash) During Doomsday

The Thor of this aside, though, when it comes to MCU crossovers, where can we even start when it comes to this trailer? At first glance, there are so many character combinations here that have my head spinning in the best way. For starters, there’s a group shot in Avengers Tower that features the New Avengers alongside the Fantastic Four and others like Sam Wilson, Ant-Man and Thor. And, of course, we also see Thor unite with good buddy Steve Rogers, who proves his identity by wielding Mjolnir.

What’s also cool is seeing some of these beloved characters come to blows with one another. For example, we get a look at the rumored Mystique and Yelena Belova battle, and Shang-Chi and Gambit also fight, with the flaming cards and ancient rings flying! It also seems that the bad blood between the Wakandans and the denizens of Talokan following the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. All in all, what I’m assuming, though, is that all of these factions may put aside their differences as they seek to fight Doom.

That’s the advice Thor gives, of course, and I’d certainly take it if I were among the heroes. It goes without saying that the axe-wielding do-gooder knows what tragic events can happen when the Avengers aren’t on the same page. I’m ready to see how all this goes down and, given the size of Thor’s role, I’ll also be curious to see if this marks the end of the road for the Norse god.

In the Extraction movies, which you can watch with a Netflix subscription, Chris Hemsworth's Tyler Rake takes on a host of missions that nearly kill him. And, given those wild assignments, Hemsworth himself has to be in shape to perform a number of those feats on set. Well, with Extraction 3 on the way, the leading man is training for his reprisal. It's true that Hemsworth has put on muscle before but, after seeing the training video he recently shared, I'm amazed by how ripped he appears to be.

Chris Hemsworth is letting his nearly 60 million Instagram followers know that he’s ready to do what it takes to surpass the bar that he and director Sam Hargrave have previously set for the Extraction franchise. To pull it off believably, the Thor actor is sweating it out in a training session in Costa Rica, a couple weeks prior to the start of production on the threequel, and it hurts my body just to watch. It goes without saying that you shouldn’t just jump in and try out his regimen, as the Transformers One actor is no stranger to extreme physical training. Anyone who's a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you likely know about the amount of work Hemsworth put into training for Avengers: Doomsday, in which he’s reprising his role as the God of Thunder for the first time since 2022. Or you may have also seen Hemsworth do crazy stunts like jumping off of cliffs in Mallorca while there to shoot Season 2 of his Nat Geo series, Limitless.

Back to Hemsworth's Extraction 3 prep, though, what he calls a “minimal equipment program” is not minimal in effort or expectation. I can appreciate that he’s able to do two rounds of the various exercises with only a two-minute rest in between, as I would likely end up in the hospital with weeks of bed rest to recover. The Aussie actor uses resistance bands and kettlebells to complete curls, reverse fly exercises and other movements with the sole purpose of preparing him for all the action.

It certainly seems like Hemsworth's managed to figure out the most effective way to be ready to return to the role of Tyler Rake in a matter of weeks. I'm intrigued by the notion of what Hemsworth and Hargrave will bring to this latest installment.

The first Extraction film hit streaming milestones when it was released in 2020 and further expanded its franchise popularity with a sequel, leading to demand for a third installment. Considering the massive action sequences featured, fans are surely expecting a lot. (Some may still be thinking about that one-shot sequence from Extraction 2.)

Despite that, I won't doubt Hemsworth, Hargrave and their collaborators, including Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani, who are also set to reprise their roles in Extraction 3. A release date has yet to be confirmed for the film but, in the meantime, check out Hemsworth and his muscles in Avengers: Doomsday, which opens on December 18th as part of the 2026 movie schedule.

Chris Hemsworth’s name is well known in Hollywood, as the A-lister actor has found great success within the entertainment industry over the last 15 years or so. However, those who live in Los Angeles shouldn’t expect to actually run into the star in the area. That’s because for the past several years, Hemsworth and his family have happily been living in his native home of Australia. Hemsworth’s decision to leave California over a decade obviously isn’t a secret, though I was unaware that he didn’t fully cut ties with the city until later.

When And How Did Chris Hemsworth Finally Say His True Farewell To LA?

It was in 2015 that Hemsworth and his wife, fellow actor Elsa Pataky, decided to move to the Land Down Under alongside their three kids. The brood have been living in Byron Bay, where they now have an eco-friendly “farm,” which consists of a considerable amount of land. Said property was completed in 2021, according to Realtor.com. And, in that same year, the Thor star officially severed his link to Los Angeles following the sale of the Malibu-based home he owned with his brothers, Liam and Luke.

The Hemsworth brothers reportedly purchased that abode in 2016, paying $3.45 million for it at the time. In the years after they bought it, the siblings apparently did some renovations and, when they put it on the market in 2020, they listed it for $4.9 million. Ultimately, though, the trio sold the place for the lesser price of $4.25 million.

Although I had no idea the Hemsworths bought that house together years ago, such a move definitely tracks given what’s known about them. They’re very close and, based on their social media posts, they seek to spend time together whenever possible. Luke even mentioned earlier this year that the three of them would love to star in a movie together, though Chris’ schedule makes that difficult. Chris does indeed stay busy but, when he’s not on the job, he seems to enjoy spending downtime with his family at home.

Why Did Chris Hemsworth And Elsa Pataky Leave Hollywood In The First Place?

Speaking of home, Hemsworth and Pataky have been candid about their decision to move to Byron Bay. Hemsworth discussed the move during a 2020 interview, at which point he said “you’re a little bit too much in the eye of the storm when you’re living in Hollywood.” He also said it was “easier to detach [himself] from work” due to living in Australia. In 2024, Hemsworth spoke more about the move and spoke about sometimes feeling a push and pull between missing the common elements of Tinseltown and not missing them.

Elsa Pataky has also spoken highly of Australia and, in 2021, she said the experience was excellent and that it’d “been great for the kids to be in nature, enjoy animals and go horse riding.” Interestingly enough, Pataky also revealed in 2024 that she was initially hesitant to leave Hollywood, though she later changed her mind. She and her hubby agreed that they would only move if they could live on a property or a farm.

Of course, Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky are just a couple of the notable actors who’ve left the bright lights of LA for different locales. Matthew McConaughey, for example, left Hollywood for Texas, while Lindsay Lohan exited the city in favor of Dubai. Ultimately, celebrities just have to find a place that’s ideal for them to live. And, in Hemsworth’s case, it feels like after he and his wife decided to move (and after he eventually sold that Malibu house), he hasn’t looked back.

As we prepare for some of our old favorites to return for the upcoming Marvel Movie Avengers: Doomsday, I do think it’s worth a reminder there’s a reason we love the original gang so much. Their banter is some of the best in the game. Case in point: That time Chris Evans trolled Scarlett Johansson over the best-looking MCU actor, and then she took her sweet time getting revenge.

Chris Evans Thinks Chris Hemsworth Is The Best-Looking MCU Cast Member

Back in the day, MovieManiacsDE talked to some of the major players ahead of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the topic of attractive MCU cast members came up. When asked who was “the best-looking” in the MCU, Chris Evans immediately blurted out “Hemsworth,” despite literally being seated next to Scarlett Johansson at the time. The two had a funny exchange about it, and eventually got on the same page.

It’s worth pointing out that Samuel L. Jackson insta-answered Black Widow earlier in the interview, so she got some brownie points there, and Chris Hemsworth was not involved in this specific conversation himself. Yet, I do love a little tale of petty revenge, and the perfect opportunity came up for Johansson years later.

The Insult Lobbed At Chris Hemsworth Years Later

Thank goodness we get a new Avengers movie every few years, because Scarlett Johansson got the chance to get a great “ugly barb” in years later. She and Hemsworth were paired together as part of Endgame’s press tour, and joined a BBC bit called “Playground insults” in which she just dumped on the Thor actor’s looks right out of the gate. What did she say?

Chris Hemsworth did fumble around a bit to get his own barb in, but the poor guy was out of his depth trying to go toe-to-toe with Scarlett Johannson’s perfect timing. He could only think to target her brain while she gets in the best barb about him wearing a “grandma’s sweater.” Take a look.

I’m not sure Hemsworth was even aware of the prior conversation between Johansson and Evans, but he has to know it’s a recurring theme where his stunningly good genetics come up. He was Sexiest Man Alive in 2014. Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen agree he’s got that dreamy thing going on. In fact, he’s so good-looking the likes of other handsome men like Kevin Costner have even remarked on it unprompted. Though Hemsworth himself is known to be humble when it comes to his own looks.

Honestly, it’s probably a good thing people aren’t focusing on Scarlett Johansson. The actress has been open about how a lot of roles she was offered early in her career were often good-looking-but-shallow characters like the “side-piece” or “bombshell." Her Black Widow character, despite being a bit of a sex symbol in Iron Man 2, really helped to change that. So, if people want to focus on how Hemsworth’s arms are the size of Elizabeth Olsen’s head instead of her own Black Widow looks, she’s probably OK with that narrative.

Just give her all the props for that Grandma sweater joke.

It sounds like Chris Evans knows how to get a party going and, back in the day, the original Avengers cast was apparently more than happy to go along with his shenanigans. The stars of the Marvel franchise previously opened up about a particularly fun night that they had together, and it's since become the stuff of legend. At the center of this story is a text is an "assemble" text, and Evans apparently sent that to Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and more. What followed was a full night that we'll break down.

The evening in question took place in Albuquerque, New Mexico while the stars were shooting one of the Marvel films. During a panel at New York Comic Con, Clark Gregg, who played Phil Coulson in several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, recalled getting Evans' text. Unsurprisingly, his great take on receiving it garnered applause from the crowd:

While those on the dais joked that a lot of details from that night should not be said legally in public, the giddy cast did seem excited to unpack some of the exciting details from that night. Tom Hiddleston -- who was also present for the panel -- hilariously recounted an exchange between Evans and Chris Hemsworth that was undeniably funny, and it involved Evans trying to figure out how Hemsworth obtained his physique for playing Thor. Hiddleston also dropped light details about the activities that proceeded that query:

So, even when the actors were all in superhero shape, they were apparently still trying to figure out how to be as ripped as Chris Hemsworth, who definitely achieved a look fit for a norse god. Even if they weren’t all like Hemsworth, they all looked pretty good, including Scarlett Johansson, who also joined the boys for the partying that evening as well.

According to Gregg, Johansson was showing off some particularly incredible dance moves, which came as an absolute shock to some other people who happened to be celebrating a birthday in the same VIP lounge. Gregg recalled:

I can’t imagine just casually celebrating my birthday party with my friends and turning around to see the Avengers cast breaking it down, especially someone as cool as Scarlett Johansson. This sounds like a glorious night, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are some details that these movie stars are keeping to themselves that we will never know about.

Of course, sometimes stories come out over time so who knows what they’d reveal if they were asked about it now. All in all, though, what I love is just how close the Marvel actors are and that they've been able to make such great memories together. Matching tattoos are one thing, but a drunken night that goes into all hours in the middle of a random city will bond you for life.

We as fans might not be privy to all the behind the scenes fun on the Avengers movies, but we can still revisit all the on-screen moments by streaming the films now with a Disney+ subscription. We can also look forward to more cast reunions, thanks to Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Hopefully, the press tour for that movie yields some more funny anecdotes involving the cast.

When Chris Hemsworth goes on family vacations, it’s easy to be green with envy. In 2023, the Hemsworths took in stunning views during a trip to Dubai, and there were even some great shots from their camping trip with Chris' younger brother, Liam. It shouldn't surprise the MCU star's social media followers that he recently shared more photos from yet another family vacation, and the shots are breathtaking. However, I'm more focused on the sight of Hemsworth's bulging Thor arms.

As the Aussie actor normally has a busy schedule with his many acting projects, it makes sense that he wants to spend his downtime with family and sightseeing. Based on Hemsworth's Instagram Stories, he had a sweet Boys Day Out with his two sons in the French Alps. And those snowy mountains look rock solid, I'd argue they've got nothing on Hemsworth's arms:

Yes, the mountains are breathtaking, and it’s incredibly cute to see Chris Hemsworth and his boys all hand-in-hand staring at those peaks. However, those French summits don't quite compare to the sight of the Star Trek actor’s sculpted arms! And, if you want an even better look at them, check out this next photo of Hemsworth holding a camera with an arm fit for an Asgardian prince:

To say Hemsworth’s arms look toned would be an understatement. Look at those veins running across those muscles! Hemsworth is certainly known for putting in work in the gym, but he and his trainer seem to have really outdone themselves.

Of course, there's surely an explanation for those attention-grabbing guns, as Hemsworth may be getting Thor-ready once again. Last year, he wrappped filming on Avengers: Doomsday, in which he'll reprise his role as the God of Thunder. Also, it's been speculated that Hemsworth will return as Thor in Avengers: Secret Wars. Recent reports suggest that second film will begin shooting soon, so that could explain why Hemsworth's arms are so swole right now.

On that note, MCU stars like Elizabeth Olsen and Benedict Cumberbatch gave agreed that Chris Hemsworth's arms are part of what makes him attractive. And the talented actor worked hard for those babies. For instance, he was certainly lifting weights for Thor: Love and Thunder, which showed how dedicated the Transformers One actor to training to play the Son of Asgard. Other than non-stop lifting, Hemsworth was also eating 4,500 calories a day.

The very fit actor also changed his training regimin for Avengers: Doomsday. His personal trainer, Luke Zocchi, he switched it up between cardio and lifting based on how Hemsworth felt. So, yeah, this guy is certainly going to look big on the big screen.

So, while I thank Chris Hemsworth for those stunning pics of the French Alps, I also thank him for reminding us why he's the perfect star to play Thor. And, if those arms don't convince you of that, then I don't know what else to tell you.

One of the fun things about new Marvel movie releases is occasionally remembering that the people making these movies are fans, too. Sure, they are actors getting paid to wear elaborate costumes and save the world in front of green screens but, sometimes even they seem genuinely amazed by the whole thing. Apparently, Paul Rudd is no exception, as he admits seeing Chris Hemsworth wandering around as Thor on set is very cool.

Rudd recently spoke with Variety while promoting his Tribeca film Rain Reign, and the Ant-Man actor reflected on returning for the 2026 movie schedule release of Avengers: Doomsday. To that end, Rudd also discussed how it felt seeing so many familiar Marvel Cinematic Universe alums reuniting. Asked specifically what it was like getting the gang back together, he admitted that even after all these years, the experience still has not lost its novelty. As he explained:

Honestly, not just kids, how about grown men who’ve grown up on the MCU? I think I’d freak out! Because let's be real, the sprawling franchise has been around going on twenty years, and a lot of the folks who still turn out for new superhero movies have been going to see the flicks in theaters since they were very young. So, if somebody told me Chris Hemsworth was casually strolling past craft services dressed as Thor, I would probably react with the maturity of a 9-year-old.

What I love about Rudd's comments is that they cut through all the cynicism that sometimes surrounds giant IP franchises. After more than 15 years in the MCU, it would be understandable if the experience had become routine. Instead, the Clueless star sounds like somebody who still appreciates the weirdness of it all.

Maybe that's part of why Marvel has managed to work for so long. A lot of these actors genuinely seem to enjoy one another's company. Rudd specifically talked about reconnecting with performers he has worked with multiple times over the years, which makes sense considering how interconnected these movies have become.

For Rudd, that journey started with Ant-Man back in 2015. Since then, he has appeared alongside everyone from Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans to Mark Ruffalo and Hemsworth. Somewhere along the way, a comedy actor best known for Anchorman and The 40-Year-Old Virgin became one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

With Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, bringing back familiar faces like the Fox-era X-Men from across more than two decades of comic book movies while also introducing new ones, it sounds like the behind-the-scenes atmosphere still has some of that old MCU magic. Apparently, no amount of Marvel experience can fully prepare you for casually running into the God of Thunder in the hallway.

Chris Hemsworth has wrapped filming the book-to-screen adaptation of the novel Kockroach, and based on the message he shared, I’m officially more intrigued by this weird little crime movie than I already was. The Thor star posted a batch of black-and-white behind-the-scenes photos from the set, and the whole thing looks like someone fed the best noir and gangster movies into a blender and poured it straight into the film projector. (Believe me when I say that's all meant as a compliment.)

Hemsworth shared the wrap update on Instagram, calling Kockroach “quite possibly the most fun” he has had on a set. He also shouted out co-stars Taron Egerton and Zazie Beetz, director Matt Ross, and photographer Cristian Prieto, whose Widelux camera appears to be helping give the BTS photos a stretched, shadowy old-Hollywood look. The caption read:

Honestly, “one hell of a wild script” is exactly the kind of phrase that gets my attention, especially when the movie in question is called Kockroach. That title alone already sounds like it crawled out from under a seedy diner's booth, which is exactly the sort of crime vibes I love. This also sounds far different from Hemsworth's highly acclaimed crime thriller, Crime 101.

The photos Hemsworth shared, which you can see for yourself in the post below, add to that feeling. We see him and Egerton in period suits along with vintage cars, glowing theater marquees and smoky, black-and-white street scenes that look like they were stolen from the ghost of a crime paperback. One image even has the marquee for 12 Angry Men and Carnival Story in the background, which tells you the movie is leaning hard into its midcentury setting:

The movie is based on the 2007 novel of the same name by William Lashner, who wrote under the pen name Tyler Knox, and its premise is already wonderfully deranged. It flips Kafka’s The Metamorphosis inside out: instead of a man waking up as an insect, a cockroach wakes up in a New York City hotel room in the mid-1950s and realizes he has become human. From there, the newly human roach, who becomes known as Jerry Blatta, learns how to walk, dress himself, recognize himself in a mirror and fake his way through conversations before climbing from mob enforcer to mob boss and eventually into politics.

That is a beautifully nasty idea for a crime movie. It has the bones of a gangster rise-and-fall story, with the added wrinkle that the central character may literally think like a roach. Not metaphorically. For real. This guy is a cockroach. The idea of an actual insect in a human body clawing his way up the criminal ladder sounds like something pulled from the stranger corner of Men in Black, a franchise Hemsworth briefly joined. But this feels less like slick sci-fi comedy and more like something that belongs on a shelf beside the greatest Alfred Hitchcock thrillers.

In addition to bein gdirected by Matt Ross, who's best known for Captain Fantastic, Kockroach is written by Jonathan Ames. Production began in New South Wales earlier this year, with Adam Arkapaw serving as cinematographer. Along with Hemsworth, Egerton and Beetz, the project includes Alec Baldwin and Rachel Sennott, according to multiple trade reports. Brian Geraghty was also reported to have recently joined the ensemble.

For me, though, Hemsworth’s enthusiasm is the hook. He has done massive franchise filmmaking, brutal action, comedy and mythology with a hammer attached. So when he says Kockroach might be the most fun he’s had on set, I’m listening.

There’s no release date yet, so don't expect it on the 2026 movie schedule. Still, after those photos and that caption, Kockroach is officially on my radar.

Fans may have to wait a while before seeing Hemsworth play a cockroach trapped in a human body, but they won’t have to wait nearly as long for his return in an upcoming superhero movie. Thor’s next MCU outing is already official, with Avengers: Doomsday set to hit theaters Dec. 18, 2026.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for constantly putting out new content, both in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. One of its biggest successes is Avengers: Endgame, which became the highest-grossing movie ever upon its release. That movie was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, although the latter shared how confusing it was to write for Chris Hemsworth's Thor after Ragnarok changed his vibe. What's more, he thought that Taika Waititi and company were making the hero into an "idiot" at first.

Moviegoers who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order will recall how Ragnarok brought new life to the God of Thunder. While audiences responded to that movie, McFeely was puzzled by how to write for Thor as a result of its zany and comedic-centered tone. As the writer said in an interview with Vanity Fair,

Well, he certainly didn't mince his words. Ragnarok was a huge departure from the first two Thor movies. While the movie's pivot to comedy (and inclusion of Mark Ruffalo's Hulk) helped to give Thor new life, the Infinity War and Endgame writers were understandably confused about what to do with the character. Luckily they figured it out, and pairing Chris Hemsworth's hero with the Guardians of the Galaxy ended up being a winning combination.

While Thor: Ragnarok helped to renew interest in The God of Thunder, it clearly threw McFeely and Markus for a loop. Funny enough, fans ended up not loving its next sequel Love and Thunder, which was also directed by Taika Waititi. Even Chris Hemsworth admitted the movie didn't stick the landing, and was perhaps a bit to "wacky" that time around.

It should be interesting to see what comes next for Thor as he return to the big screen this winter. Hemsworth was included in the Avengers: Doomsday cast list, with McFeely once again writing the script... this time with Michael Waldron. Although fans are worried that the OG Avenger might die in the next two Avengers flicks, which are both being directed by The Russo Brothers.

All will be revealed when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18th as part of the 2026 movie release list. We'll just have to wait and see how goofy Thor ends up being in the movie, especially because he's an adopted father now.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a well-oiled machine, one that consistently releases new content in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. There are a number of highly anticipated upcoming Marvel movies, but fans are also curious if Chris Hemsworth's Thor will get a fifth solo movie. Kenneth Branagh, who directed the 2011 original movie, has an idea to return to the franchise... and he's inspired by one of the best superhero movies ever.

Fans who have watched the Marvel movies in order have seen as the Thor franchise changed over the years. Taika Waititi's pair of movies leaned into comedy and color, while Branagh's original was quite serious. In a conversation with Business Insider, the actor/filmmaker revealed his A+ idea for a return to the property, saying:

Honestly, sign me up. Before Hugh Jackman returned in Deadpool & Wolverine, James Mangold's Logan was meant to be his final bow as everyone's favorite clawed mutant. The movie was universally acclaimed, earning an Oscar nomination for its screenplay. And Logan's ending provided a moving and beautiful ending for the beloved character, who finally died while saving X-23.

I would love to see what Branagh might do with Chris Hemsworth's signature character if he took a Logan-esque approach to Thor 5. Of course, it's unclear if the studio is planning on doing a fifth movie; most heroes only get trilogies of solo flicks. The exceptions are Thor, Spider-Man, and Captain America, although the latter is unique because Brave New World was about Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson rather than Steve Rogers.

Of course, we're going to have to wait and see if Thor actually lives through the next two Avengers movies first. Some fans think that the God of Thunder might be killed off in Doomsday or Secret Wars, with even Chris Hemsworth putting doubt as to whether or not he'll continue his tenure as the hero. If he ends up perishing in the battle against Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, then Kenneth Branagh might not get his chance to return to the MCU.

Logan was a game-changer for superhero projects, and is arguably the best of the X-Men movies. Its gritty approach and emotional story managed to get one of the genre's first Oscar nominations, opening doors for other projects like Black Panther to follow suit. I'd love to see Thor get this treatment, but it remains to be seen what the studio has planned for Chris Hemsworth's character.

Thor will return to the big screen in Avengers: Doomsday, which will hit theaters on December 18th as part of the 2026 movie release list. His solo movies are all streaming now on Disney+, including Kenneth Branagh's original.

When I saw Crime 101, Chris Hemsworth’s first release on the 2026 movie schedule (Doomsday is coming), I was disappointed. I love a great heist movie, and I was excited for this, thinking it’d be a really fun popcorn chomper of an action flick. I wrote about how I thought it was a little too long, owing mostly to a somewhat pointless love story, and I thought the movie was full of silly tropes and lazy plot devices (plus a one-car car chase that was kind of ridiculous).

Then I started seeing a bunch of reviews from critics and fans alike who really liked the movie. The Rotten Tomatoes score kind of blew my mind. It’s currently sitting at 89% on the Tomatometer and 85% on the Popcornmeter. What in the world did I miss here? What were other people seeing that I wasn’t? I had to watch it again, so I fired up my Prime Account, where it is currently streaming, and gave it another shot.

My Opinion Hasn’t Changed

As anyone can relate, sometimes when you see a movie for the first time, you’re in the wrong mood for the movie, or you’ve got other things on your mind. Sometimes a first impression is a bad one. My most notable experience with that was seeing The Big Lebowski in theaters when it was released in 1998. I hated it. It’s now perhaps my favorite movie of all time. I didn’t expect the same thing to happen with Crime 101, but given how much some people really liked it, I felt I owed it a second chance.

So after watching this weekend, I came away from it with the exact same feelings as I had the first time. It’s a trope salad that looks slick, but just under the surface, it feels hollow. The love story between Hemsworth’s character, Mike/James, and Maya (Monica Barbaro) is still pointless. The dialogue is still stilted and shallow. The cat-and-mouse game between Mike and Sharon (Halle Berry) still didn’t get me excited, and Barry Keoghan’s character Ormon still feels unnecessarily psychotic.

All The Pieces Are There For A Really Fun Movie, But…

On paper, this movie should work, and I think it should work for me. I think it’s the perfect kind of role for Hemsworth, and, frankly, the whole cast is in roles that work really well for them. Mark Ruffalo as a down-and-out-but-brilliant detective is right up his alley. Nick Nolte as the grizzled veteran thief is also a fantastic role for him. But none of it really works for me.

As I said, it’s slick, some of the stunt work is wonderful, and I like the general story, but it never gelled. There is just something off about it. It might just be me (in fact, it clearly is, given the Rotten Tomatoes score), but it’s not going to end up on my list of best heist movies, and it really has been yearning for the next big heist movie on my radar, Michael B. Jordan’s remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. I’m hoping for big things from the Oscar-winner!

It’s become a common refrain with movies over the last few years that films that struggle in theaters frequently become big hits once they arrive on streaming platforms. The latest example of this trend has arrived on Prime Video as the heist drama Crime 101, which failed at the box office despite a strong critical reception, is now killing it at home.

Crime 101 Is The Number One Movie In the World On Prime Video

Crime 101 only debuted on Prime Video on April 1st, but the film, which stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Halle Berry, is already the top streaming movie globally on the platform and the number two movie in the United States. It’s just the latest case of audiences clearly “waiting for streaming” when it comes to theatrical releases that people clearly want to see, but not quite enough to go to the theater.

Crime 101 stars Chris Hemsworth as a thief who teams up with an insurance investigator, played by Halle Berry, to work a major job. Mark Ruffalo is the police detective trying to stop them. Over the course of the film, the cast of characters travels through LA trying to pull off their respective plans, and it turns into one intense crime thriller.

Overall, it seems that those who are watching Crime 101 are likely enjoying themselves. The movie was well reviewed by critics, many of whom compared it favorably to Heat. The film has an 89% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes alongside an equally impressive 85% audince score, indicating that while a lot of people didn’t go to theaters to see it, those who did liked it.

Crime 101’s Road To Success Is Only Becoming More Common

Not every movie that flops in theaters becomes a success on streaming, but a lot of the films that are successful on streaming struggled theatrically first.

It’s clear that audiences still want to see these movies, but many are simply unwilling, for whatever reason, to go see every movie in a theater. Whether it’s a general dissatisfaction with the theatrical experience or a feeling that only certain types of movies are “worth it,” it’s far from uncommon to see character dramas like Crime 101 have a hard time at the box office. Seeing those sorts of films succeed in theaters has become the exception, not the rule.

At the end of the day, there’s certainly some value in the movie finding a way to get in front of eyeballs. People make movies to be seen, and as long as they get seen somehow, that’s worthwhile. At the same time, the continued failure of these sorts of movies in theaters is only going to lead to fewer of them being released in theaters, and potentially fewer of them being made at all, which would be tragic.

However, thankfully, Crime 101 seems to have found its audience, and you can stream it now on Prime Video.

I’ve been a fan of Mark Ruffalo for essentially my whole life, and I’ve realized recently that he really loves to play a cop or someone who works in law enforcement. In the last year alone, he did it in the beloved series Task (which you can stream with an HBO Max subscription) and the film on the 2026 movie schedule, Crime 101. I’m not the only one who has picked up on this, either, and when CinemaBlend interviewed Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry, who worked with Ruffalo on Crime 101, they told us why he’s so good at playing a cop.

Honestly, the list of movies and shows where the actor has played a cop is long and has range. From Task to Crime 101 to Now You See Me to Zodiac, his filmography related to law enforcement runs the gamut. So, when CinemaBlend’s Hannah Saulic spoke to Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry, she asked them about their co-star’s tendency to play a cop. Here’s how they responded:

Now, let’s break all this down. In response to the question about what makes Ruffalo so good in this kind of role, Hemsworth explained:

I can totally see what he’s saying here. If Mark Ruffalo is on my screen, I want to trust him. And that level of trust always ups my interest and investment in what his characters are doing. So, if he’s playing a cop, detective or agent, I’m more inclined to be interested in him and his success with an investigation (whether his character is in the right or not).

In the case of Crime 101, where he played detective Lou Lubesnick, it was obvious that he believed in what he was doing, and that determination made his story more compelling. That’s because he got quite a bit of pushback for his investigation; however, despite everything, he stuck to his guns, and it did lead him eventually to Hemsworth’s thief, Mike.

Along with Hemsworth’s initial response, both the Thor actor and Halle Berry agreed on another quality Ruffalo has in spades, saying:

• Halle Berry: He cares.
• Chris Hemsworth: He cares, yeah.

Elaborating on that point, Berry said it’s nice to see someone who cares and wants to do what’s best on screen. That’s an energy Ruffalo brings, according to her, as she said:

Well, whether he’s playing a genuinely good cop or a morally complex agent, his care is evident. That’s clear on screen in Crime 101, too.

So, yeah, Mark Ruffalo is really good at playing cops, and I hope he continues to do it too. Crime 101 got pretty good reviews, and projects like Zodiac and Task are staples in his filmography. Clearly, he’s fantastic at this, and Hemsworth and Berry helped us define just why that’s the case.

Hollywood has more than a few sets of celebrity siblings, and many of them have actually acted alongside each other. The three Hemsworth brothers – Luke, Chris and Liam – have worked with each other on rare occasions. However, all three of the Aussie siblings have yet to be in the same movie, which is honestly a bit surprising. The Hemsworths (who are all quite tall and have done their share of action work) would theoretically make great co-stars. And, while I’ve wanted to see them act together, I understand the one obstacle in the way.

Luke Hemsworth is currently promoting his 2026 movie schedule entry, Beast, which is set to hit theaters in a matter of weeks. During a recent interview, the Gunner star revealed that he is indeed open to the idea of starring in a movie with both Chris and Liam. With that, Luke also shared a little bit of insight into whether he and his younger brothers have actually talked about it and what it would take for it to happen:

Thus far, both Luke and Chris Hemsworth have appeared in the two most recent Thor films, while Liam and Luke starred in Land of Bad. I can’t imagine it would be that difficult to come up with an idea for the Hemsworths. Still, as Luke also explained to E! News, that could be challenging due to one of his brothers:

That’s definitely a good point, considering that Chris Hemsworth remains one of the busiest stars in Hollywood. Earlier this year, Hemsworth marked the release of a crime thriller, Crime 101, which was well received by critics upon its release in February. The A-lister also has another movie coming out in December, and it’s a movie by the name of Avengers: Doomsday, in which he’ll reprise his role as Thor. Hemsworth has also teased that he has other projects lined up in which he’ll play the God of Thunder after Doomsday. So, all in all, the Spiderhead alum could be tied up for a while.

At the same time, Liam Hemsworth also has his share of professional obligations. The biggest gig Hemsworth has right now is his leading role on Netflix’s The Witcher, on which he plays Geralt (since replacing Henry Cavill in the role). While that show will be ending with its fifth season, it’s surely possible that the youngest Hemsworth brother could book something else that could delay any kind of collaboration with his two siblings.

Still, I’d be surprised if a studio didn’t find some kind of way to get all three of the Hemsworths on screen together. Considering their respective bodies of work, I’d love to see all of them star in some kind of buddy action flick. However, I also wouldn’t mind seeing them together in a classic family-centric comedy, and one set in Australia could be particularly fun. Here’s hoping the three brothers unite on the big screen at some point in the near future.

Even though the past several years have certainly had lots of new movies for action fans to enjoy, many people are still waiting for positive updates on the Chris Hemsworth franchise that last released a sequel three years ago: Extraction. Those with a Netflix subscription have been promised Extraction 3 since shortly after the release of the second film in 2023, but now the movie has taken an exciting step forward.

What’s The Latest Update On Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction 3 Say?

Movie lovers know that it can sometimes take quite a while for a film to go from greenlight to premiere, but even with that, many fans probably thought that we would at least be able to watch Extraction 3 sometime during the 2026 movie release schedule. Unfortunately, that’s unlikely to happen, but it’s looking a lot more likely that it will become one of our highly anticipated upcoming action movies before too much longer, now that we’ve gotten an exciting update about filming.

A recent report from What’s On Netflix says that the latest sequel finally has a set production start for sometime in June 2026, with filming being planned to run through early October. On top of that, the proceedings are based in Sydney, Australia, which will keep Hemsworth close to family and “Fortress Hemsworth” for much of the shoot, while there will be some filming in Europe over the summer.

As you can probably imagine, one thing that has, inadvertently, held up production is the Tyler Rake star, whose work as a cinematic charmer (though he feels like “a fraud” sometimes doing it) in other films, including his continuing commitment to the MCU have kept him a very busy man. In fact, the December update from director Sam Hargrave noted that the actor’s Thor schedule at the time put filming dates for Extraction 3 up in the air a bit, though he was hoping to start sometime this year.

Hemsworth, like many of his MCU cohorts, have been very busy working on the upcoming Marvel movie known as Avengers: Doomsday, which is due out by the end of this year. It’s also been intimated that he’ll probably reprise Thor for Avengers: Secret Wars, which is due out in December 2027 and needs to start filming this year to hit that target.

We don’t know for sure how much of the actor we’ll see in either superhero team-up movie, but with a super secretive production process that sometimes involves the actors not fully knowing who they’re working with beforehand or when they’re even completely done with filming, you can bet that it’s a relatively complicated undertaking that can be very time consuming.

However, as long as the Extraction threequel begins when expected, we could see Hemsworth in both movies next year, which would be great news for fans.

There’s something undeniably refreshing about a celebrity couple who don’t pretend their relationship runs on fairy dust and filtered compliments. Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky have been married since 2010, share three kids, and somehow still manage to look like they genuinely like each other. And, based on their latest comments about why their marriage works, which isn't the first time they've discussed their home lives, it’s less about grand romantic gestures and more about something surprisingly simple. Honestly, they’re couple goals.

Hemsworth and Pataky recently spoke with People and opened up about the dynamic that keeps their years-long relationship strong, and it’s not about always agreeing. It’s about telling the truth, even when that truth stings a little. As he tells it:

Hemsworth went on to explain that this “critical sort of assessment” is foundational to their relationship because they truly know each other. That last part might be my favorite: the truth, but softened a bit. It’s easy to picture someone like Hemsworth being surrounded by yes-people. When you're the face of new superhero franchises, major new action movies, and glamorous red carpet premieres, most of the feedback you receive is likely polished and pleasant. However, according to him, his wife’s honest perspective is the compass he trusts the most.

Also, that dynamic goes far beyond scripts or commercial spots. It speaks to the foundation of their marriage. Like the longtime Avengers star explained, they genuinely know each other, who they are at their core and what they’re capable of. That kind of clarity only comes from years of shared history, raising their daughter, India Rose, and twin sons, Sasha and Tristan, and building a life largely outside the Hollywood bubble in Australia.

What makes their take so compelling isn’t that they claim perfection, but instead, they acknowledge the hard work it requires to make a relationship work years down the road. Professionally, neither Pataky nor Hemsworth seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Busy 2026 movie schedules aside, it seems their greatest collaboration is still the one happening off-screen.

Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor for Avengers: Doomsday at the end of the 2026 movie schedule, and while the world is ready to see him back as the hero, his children might be less enthusiastic. The actor recently talked about his kids and how the God of Thunder helped him realize there's nothing parents can do to make their kids think they're cool.

In a recent interview with People, Hemsworth admitted that while his superhero role once impressed his children, they're largely over it now that they're older. He went even further by saying they were only briefly interested once they learned he was Thor in the MCU. Unfortunately, their enthusiasm faded once they learned he wasn't literally Thor:

This really recontextualizes that photo of his twin boys dressed as Thor a long time ago, and I'm wondering if they really believed they could fly. In fact, there's a long history of these boys showing up to set in suits, and now I can only imagine the disappointment they had when swinging a hammer didn't result in flight.

"Less cool" turned into not cool pretty quickly, as Chris Hemsworth talked about how his children view his career as a movie star known all around the world:

That may sound odd, but I totally get it. If my dad were in the MCU, that would probably break my immersion more than anything when I'm watching Avengers: Doomsday in theaters. I mean, sure, I believe that superheroes don't exist, but I can't see one of them played by the same guy I see fall asleep in a recliner.

Keep in mind that Chris Hemsworth now has his actual daughter in the MCU, and she apparently was over being in Avengers: Doomsday. Honestly, I think it's kind of hilarious they're like that, because I know there are so many people who would love to have a famous dad that lands them once-in-a-lifetime acting gigs. Of course, not everyone gets the acting bug, and it seems India Hemsworth is not feeling it.

Chris Hemsworth may spend the rest of his life unsuccessfully trying to make his children think he's cool, but at least he still has scores of fans who appreciate his role as Thor. He also has the rare honor of being one of the few hero actors who got to reinvent their character, having him bounce between serious and humorous. Hemsworth is living the dream, in my opinion, even if he's not a cool dad.

Avengers: Doomsday is out on December 18th, and I know I'll be one of the first people in theaters to see it. In the meantime, maybe I'm past due for a rewatch of the Thor movies, because I can't remember the last time I saw one.

Chris Hemsworth comes across as a super cool guy. He’s very good at what he does (both in comedic and dramatic roles), he’s one of the most successful movie stars in the world, and he has that winning smile and cool blue eyes. Unfortunately, there’s no level of cool in the world that can disable the proper anxiety that comes when one gets to meet a Hollywood legend, and Hemsworth got a hard lesson in that field when he once had the opportunity to meet the one and only Brad Pitt.

The Crime 101 actor is a big fan of Pitt’s – so much so that he and his wife Elsa Pataky named their son Tristan after the Oscar-winner’s character in the 1994 western Legends of the Fall. This was a bit of trivia that Hemsworth recently discussed during an appearance on the Smartless podcast, and it led to the actor being asked if he had ever met the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star. He then shared this cringe-inducing tale:

In response, co-host Jason Bateman remarked that the moment would “slow down” for him, and I totally get what he means: this whole interaction would play in my mind in agonizing slow-motion. We’ve all had a similar experience where our own personal greeting didn’t match someone else’s, but it’s typically not Brad Pitt who is on the other side of the introduction.

Adding insult to injury – and kudos to Hemsworth’s confidence in sharing the anecdote – is that he really really made an effort to be chill. He got word that Pitt wanted to meet him with advance notice, and he tried to be blase about it, but the effort was for nought. He added,

He might play a god on the big screen, but he’s human just like all of us.

Perhaps Chris Hemsworth and Brad Pitt will work together one day and put this moment in the past, but for now, Hemsworth is working with plenty of other big stars, including the ensemble in Crime 101 (which is in theaters now and features Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry, Barry Keoghan, and Nick Nolte) and the ridiculous lineup featured in the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday (arriving on the big screen December 18).

From a bird’s eye view, Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo are longtime collaborators on the big screen. Both are longtime Marvel Cinematic Universe veterans, and not only have they worked on all of the Avengers films together, but they also had a special two-hander adventure with Thor: Ragnarok. One would think that history would lead to an automatic comfort on any project they now make together, but Hemsworth would disagree, as he felt a different kind of dynamic in the making of the new thriller Crime 101.

In the Bart Layton written and directed 2026 movie (based on the novel of the same name by Don Winslow), Hemsworth and Ruffalo participate in a cinematic cat-and-mouse game: the former is an expert thief who executes his work with impeccable planning, and the latter is the detective trying to hunt him down. It’s a totally different relationship than the one we see between between Thor and Hulk in the aforementioned Taika Waititi blockbuster from 2017, and the big screen God of Thunder reflected on that experience in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly:

Thor: Ragnarok is a very silly movie, and the sensibilities of Waititi let Hemsworth and Ruffalo lean into their charisma and have fun. Crime 101, on the other hand, is not the same at all. The new Heat-esque action movie has its moments of levity (for example the physical comedy of Ruffalo’s out-of-shape character trying yoga for the first time), but it’s mostly a serious drama, and there definitely aren’t any laughs in the scenes that the two actors share.

Hemsworth directly pointed at this difference, saying,

The tone of the work demanded something very different from them both as performers, and that change apparently took Chris Hemsworth aback. He was put on his heels a bit doing dramatic work with Ruffalo, which doesn’t sound comfortable, but he was ultimately able to use that feeling to benefit his performance, as his character is an introvert who very much does not want to go to prison:

There’s no questioning what a fitness enthusiast Chris Hemsworth is. When the Aussie actor stars as Thor in Marvel movies, he's superhero ripped, and it adds to his portrayal of the God of Thunder. In short, Hemsworth really seems to bring his A-game when it comes to working out. However, the A-list actor also recalled how, years ago, he had to make a change to his physique in order to fulfill a major task for a different role.

After making his MCU debut as the God of Thunder, Chris Hemsworth jumped into a very different cinematic adventure. The actor had to get ready to race in Ron Howard’s Rush. The thought of playing a real-life Formula 1 driver seems challenging enough for a few reasons. As Hemsworth revealed to Men’s Health, though, what was particularly challenging for him was losing enough pounds "just to squeeze" into his ride in the first place:

Formula 1 cars are slender, so it made sense that the bulky Hemsworth would have to shed some pounds before getting in one. I can't imagine it would be easy to have to incorporate all of these workouts while eating less. The training and eating that Hemsworth has done for Thor, according to his trainer, involves eating 6-8 times a day, totaling 4,500 calories daily. Since the goal for Rush is simply to lose weight compared to gaining muscle, that would mean the combination of burning fat with fewer meals.

Based on accounts that have been given, it's not always easy when actors have to dramatically lose weight for roles. For example, Orlando Bloom said he got “a bit of PTSD” when he shed 30 pounds for The Cut, and Matt Damon lost a lot of weight for The Odyssey by going on walks and cutting off gluten. Chris Hemsworth continued to get real about what made his weight loss experience for a role challenging:

Fortunately, the Melbourne native was willing to do what was necessary to fully embody racecar driver James Hunt and fit in that car. It's also worth mentioning that Hemsworth is great in the film, as he flexes his acting muscles as opposed to his actual muscles.

Of course, after Chris Hemsworth jumped into Rush, he returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He had to gain muscle for the Thor sequels that would eventually be released. By 2022's Love and Thunder, Hemsworth was apparently the biggest he’d ever been while playing the superhero role. To the hilarious chagrin of his stunt double, the two had to keep eating every two hours. (I don't think the Extraction star will be fitting into any more race cars anytime soon.)

Whether he's gaining weight or losing it, Hemsworth, with the help of his trainers, seems to know how to attune his body to a giving role. On that front, the past year or so has seen him building his biceps for Avengers: Doomsday, and I can’t wait to see the jaw-dropping results thunder when the film hits theaters on December 18th amid the 2026 movie schedule. There is one question that is as old as time itself. For as long as there have been fans, those fans have asked themselves the same question, over and over again, searching for the one true answer: “Who would win in a fight between…?”

It’s the question that comic book fans have asked about all their favorite heroes, especially those from competing brands that rarely, if ever, cross paths. It’s also the question Chris Hemsworth was recently asked on Instagram, specifically if his character Thor could beat Scarlet Witch in a flight. When asked who would win, Thor or Wanda, Hemsworth simply said…

Hemsworth is probably being a bit polite here; it’s not good form to just assume your character would always win, but he’s also not necessarily wrong. Wanda is generally portrayed as one of the strongest characters in the MCU. She probably would have taken out Thanos single-handedly had it not been for missiles knocking her back.

Thor vs Wanda is one battle that we have yet to see in the MCU, and based on what has been officially said regarding Avengers: Doomsday, and what the future of the MCU might look like, we may never see it.

Officially, we’re also not expecting Elizabeth Olsen to appear in an upcoming Marvel movie. Wanda is, as far as we know, currently dead in the MCU, and Olson’s own comments have indicated she won’t be back anytime soon. That said, there have been rumors that she actually will appear, so it’s certainly possible we could see this fight after all. Chris Evans denied his involvement right up until the first Doomsday trailer confirmed he would be there.

Based on some of the other rumors that we’re getting from Avengers: Doomsday, seeing various heroes beat each other up could actually end up being a big part of the film. If the Scarlet Witch is in the film, seeing her fight some other heroes may be exactly what we’ll see her do.

And if that doesn't happen in Doomsday, then we may see it all in the next Avengers film. Secret Wars, the comic that next year’s Avengers movie takes its name from, was all about heroes fighting each other in a place called Battleworld. While the MCU version will probably take some liberties with the story, getting some fights between heroes seems like a safe bet.

Whatever the future holds, the age-old debate of “who would win” probably won’t be settled. But there will be plenty more fodder for future arguments among fans.

When I think of Chris Hemsworth and his best movies, the first character that comes to mind is the charming God of Thunder, Thor. For years now, thanks to that part and more, the actor has become well known for playing charismatic characters. However, he doesn’t do that in his project on the 2025 movie schedule, Crime 101. So, with that in mind, he got candid with CinemaBlend about feeling like “a fraud” when he does play those charming characters we know and love him for.

In Crime 101, Hemsworth plays a quiet and reserved American jewel thief named Mike Davis. It’s a departure from the roles we’re used to seeing him play, and when CinemaBlend’s Hannah Saulic spoke to him, she asked if it was “difficult” to “play someone who’s not overtly charming.” While his co-star, Halle Berry, said he was “overtly charming,” Saulic clarified that she was talking about the character specifically. In response, the Thor actor said:

Considering how subjective movie-making and acting are, I totally see where Chris Hemsworth is coming from. Actors have to be very vulnerable on a set, and there’s a lot of attention on them and the emotional choices they make. It must be a lot to take in, and I can see why it wouldn’t exactly invoke confidence.

Further explaining why he feels like “a fraud” sometimes, Hemsworth said:

While he might feel that way inside, it doesn’t come off that way at all on screen. I mean, there’s a reason he’s been playing Thor for so long, and we’ll get to see that charisma and charm jump off the screen again when he returns for the upcoming Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday (which will be released in December). However, it's also worth noting that this candid side also adds to his charisma.

To that point, it was fun to see him tap into the quieter side of himself for Crime 101. According to director and writer Bart Layton, this more reserved side of Hemsworth helped him understand his character better. Explaining why that’s the case, he said:

In Crime 101, Hemsworth’s character comes from a poor family, and he works his way up to becoming a really fantastic thief. However, he’s anxious, quiet and very reserved. There are a lot of layers to him, and according to the director, the actor helped bring those out, as he said:

I know I was certainly surprised by Hemsworth’s performance in the well-reviewed Crime 101, and it was a highlight of the film for me. His candid response about feeling the way his character feels at times makes it even better, too, because it adds a more personal and emotional layer to his character.

In the end, like all of us, Chris Hemsworth is human. He might play a god and radiate charm. However, he can feel insecure and reserved at times, too. Clearly, he knows how to harness all of this and more, because whether he’s playing a captivating superhero or a reserved jewel thief, his presence always jumps right off the screen in an irresistible way.

Avengers: Doomsday hits the 2026 movies schedule at the end of the year, and reuniting with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor for the first time since 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder is among the many things to look forward to it. However, with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom being the MCU’s latest threat, there’s inevitably going to be characters killed off in the upcoming Marvel movie. Fortunately, Thor fans don’t have to worry to worry about that happening to the God of Thunder thanks to the latest update Hemsworth has provided.

While appearing on Smartless (via ComicBook), the actor informed podcast hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes that he plans to play Thor at least “a couple more times.” Since Hemsworth had already indicated he’ll also be in Avengers: Secret Wars, that means we can breathe a sigh of relief that Thor will make it out of the Multiverse Saga alive. He continued:

Chris Hemsworth has played Thor in eight movies since 2011 at the time of this writing, including his cameo in the Doctor Strange mid-credits scene. One could consider Thor the elder statesman of Avengers: Doomsday in terms of both that tenure and the Asgardian being over a millennium old. I was wondering what the chances were of Thor being killed off in Avengers: Secret Wars, as eventually there will come a time when Hemsworth won’t want to play him anymore. But now we know that day is still far off, as the Crime 101 star has been talking with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about where to take the character next.

If we’re taking “a couple more times” literally, then accounting for Avengers: Secret Wars, that means there will be one more movie after that. I’m betting that will be Thor 5, and if it gets greenlighted, that will result in Chris Hemsworth once again having the longest-running solo MCU film series. That would be the best way to show how Thor has changed in the aftermath of Doomsday and Secret Wars, and further explore his relationship with his adoptive daughter, Love. It would also allow another filmmaker to put their stamp on the hero as Taika Waititi has said he would not return for a fifth Thor movie.

But we have a long ways to go before reaching that stage. In the nearer future, Thor and the other Avengers will team up with the New Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men and Wakandans to battle Doctor Doom, who threatens the entire multiverse. The first half of this epic conflict begins when Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18.

I’ll come right out and say it: I didn’t like Crime 101, the latest book-to-screen adaptation on the 2026 movie schedule. I love a great heist movie, but this one didn’t steal my heart in any way, and that goes double for the love story between Mike (Chris Hemsworth) and Maya (Monica Barbaro). The official runtime of the movie is 2 hours and 20 minutes, and had it been 30 minutes shorter, I might have liked it more. I didn’t time anything, but I’d bet removing the awkward romance would have taken care of that time quite nicely.

The Romance Wasn’t Needed At All

Nothing about the movie’s central plot, or Mike's motivations, would have changed had the whole romance been left on the cutting room floor. There was never a time in the movie where I felt like Mike was ever invested in the relationship, but at the same time, there were moments where the movie seemed to make you want to believe he was. Mike wanted to do that once last score because he wanted out of the game, not because he wanted to run away with Maya or anything.

Maya had nothing to do with the heist Mike conceived along with Sharon (Halle Berry), and she really didn’t seem to fit into Mike’s life at all. Early in the movie, we see Mike with a prostitute, and while that scene was also unnecessary, at least that arrangement seemed to be a natural one for a career criminal trying not to draw the attention of the authorities (or anyone else, for that matter). This is a guy who doesn’t have a family or any kind of public profile at all. His only “friends” are the other crooks he works with. The movie would have been fine without Mike trying to find love, too.

The Relationship Was Awkward And Forced

There is nothing in the romance that seems natural at all. Maya is immediately suspicious of Mike, or at least skeptical of him, and she tries to leave before the first date has really even started. Still, they stick it out, and the movie wants you to believe that they start to fall in love. Even though Maya is constantly looking for a way out. It’s an awkward romance at best, but most of the time, it just doesn’t make sense. As the film dragged on, I got more and more annoyed with it.

Worst, in the end, Mike and Maya’s romance comes to nothing. They break up (even though it seems like it’s only been a few days in movie time), and Maya moves on with her life. Mike, in one of his moves after his successful heist, sends her a photo of him as a kid, after she complained earlier in the movie that she knew nothing about him, despite supposedly being in love with him. They don’t end up together, and in the end, the relationship had literally no effect on the outcome of the heist or Mike and Maya’s lives.

It's Almost Like They Knew The Romance Didn't Work

I like Monica Barbaro (she killed it in 2024's A Complete Unknown), and I like Chris Hemsworth (who we'll see later this year in Avengers: Doomsday), but it seemed like there was no chemistry in their onscreen romance, either. I think both do decent work in the movie, but at times it seems like even they knew the romance was stilted and without allure, but not in a “will they or won’t way,” just awkwardly and uncomfortably.

Even going back to when the first trailer dropped last fall, Barbaro is barely in it. Even more, the trailer sets the viewer up to believe that the romance will be between the insurance agent Sharon and the thief, Mike, ala The Thomas Crown Affair, which is even name-dropped in the trailer (and the movie) as well. Seriously, go back and watch the trailer and tell me it doesn't completely mislead about where the romance is going to happen.

I'm not saying there even needs to be any romance in the movie at all. There are plenty of great heist movies devoid of a love story. Besides, we're getting another version of The Thomas Crown Affair in the next year or so, so just leave it to Michael B. Jordan and company. The whole thing just left me frustrated.

It Pretty Much Ruined The Movie For Me

It really took away from the potential thrill of the movie for me. A lot is going on in the movie, from Mike's troubled relationship with his mentor, played by Nick Nolte, to Sharon's frustrations with her job, to the cop chasing Mike down, played by Mark Ruffalo. This tacked-on romance just doesn't work in the greater context of the film, and instead drags the movie in multiple ways, not the least of which is the runtime.

There are some fantastic action sequences, some good car chases, and enough of a backstory with Mike that the pointless love story pretty much ruined the movie for me. This isn't the kind of movie that I look for a lot of depth in, I just wanna chomp some popcorn and be dazzled by the action. Instead, I got grumpy whenever Mike and Maya had a perplexing argument with each other. Was there any love, anyway? They are always upset with each other.

While I realize it’s unrealistic to cut a fantastic talent like Barbaro completely out of the movie, and I don't mean any disrespect to her as an actor, it would have served the story better if they had left the character on the cutting room floor. The good news is that Barbaro will be back on the big screen later this year in a movie that looks like a lot more fun for fans of traditional rom coms, One Night Only, co-starring Callum Turner.

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor has had quite the journey within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the character started as an arrogant and battle-hungry prince, he’s now an honorable and cerebral warrior, who’s also the adoptive father of a child. The Asgardian hero’s arc has been filled with tonal changes as well, which have seen him go from serious to silly and vice versa. Hemsworth himself recently admitted that those shifts can nag at fans, but he has a different take on his MCU alter ego’s evolution.

It’s fair to say that humor – in some form – has always been in Thor’s DNA as far as the MCU is concerned. However, the latter two films in the character’s franchise – Ragnarok and Love and Thunder – shifted into heavy comedic material under the direction of filmmaker Taika Waititi. While the tonal changes hit for some, others seemed to prefer a more solemn depiction of the character as can be seen in Avengers: Infinity War. Now, it seems that particular version of Thor will also be present in the much-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday.

During a recent visit to The View (which was shared to YouTube), Hemsworth was asked about playing a more “serious” Thor again in Doomsday. The veteran Marvel star didn’t let any big details slip, though he did refer to that truly moving Thor teaser for Doomsday when discussing his character’s vibe in Joe and Anthony Russo’s upcoming superhero movie. Hemsworth also shared his personal thoughts on playing Thor in different ways:

I completely understand the leading man’s thought process here. What Hemsworth seems to relish is the opportunity to try varied approaches to the God of Thunder and, with that, he keeps his approach to the role fresh. While Thor: Love and Thunder may not be high atop my MCU film ranking, the movie does indeed give Hemsworth a chance to indulge in the kind of slapstick action that made Ragnarok feel like such a sweet novelty.

Of course, I also love it when the Odison gets serious, and that definitely seems to be the case when it comes to Doomsday. As Hemsworth mentioned during his recent interview, the clip highlighted the mighty hero’s close relationship with his daughter, Love. Thor calls to Odin and asks that if it be his will, that he’ll return to his child after this latest battle (possibly with the forces of Doctor Doom). The media-trained Marvel star stopped shorting of revealing too much, though:

All signs point to Thor feeling a great sense of urgency in the upcoming Marvel movie. Chris Hemsworth recently stated that by this point, the character has more than “earned his seat at the table” and that excites me. My hope is that when fans see the character again, he’ll not only be powerful but also serious and empathetic.

Halle Berry is a beloved movie star known for her roles in major movies like James Bond the X-Men films and John Wick. But, she’s noticed lately she’s being defined a lot more for being a woman over 50. The A-list let people know it in a recent interview, as she specifically called out those who reference her age when talking about her physical appearance.

While promoting her latest movie. Crime 101, with Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry took part in a segment with ScreenTime. As part of the game, the trio of stars took turns reading comments from fans. When one of Berry’s reads “Omg Halle does NOT age! Hard to believe she’s 59! Just Gorgeous!” the actress had this to say:

Obviously, the comment was meant to be a compliment toward Halle Berry, who has aged gracefully over the years. But, as the 2002 Oscar winner pointed out, she has noticed that there’s often an uneven amount of talk about how old she is, especially when you compare the comments made around her co-stars. Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth got behind their co-star as she pointed out the frequent talk of her age compared to her male counterparts. Both of the leading men are also over 40 ( Hemsworth is 42 and Ruffalo is 58) and apparently don’t receive constant mentions about about how good they look for their age. What’s up with that?

Berry thinks it’s sexism and, while the commenter probably didn’t mean to perpetuate that, it’s a good point underlying the double standards in Hollywood between men and women. In the video, the Bruised star thanked the commenter for the compliment despite being troubled by the trend. And Ruffalo even pointed out how Berry had just talked to him about how common it was for her name and age to often come up together.

Halle Berry is always exuding confidence on her socials, such as the time she posted a photo of herself in a black bikini while on vacation and made an empowering comment. At the time, she said, “We have to get older, but we don’t have to get old”. In another instance, Berry also posted a photo of herself hanging out on a balcony nude, with the caption “i do what i wanna do.” She also ended up clapping back at a commenter who said she was too old to be posting pics of her naked body.

Honestly, good for Halle Berry for bringing this up. The actress has been honest before about being in her “don’t give a f*ck” phase of life where she’s saying, moving and wearing what she wants, and moments like this show she’s walking the walk. Recently, she even got honest about the time she told off X-Men director Bryan Singer, saying “that guy deserved it.” In regard to beauty standards and sexism, I wouldn't be surprised if Berry continued to call it out as she sees it.

This year has already seen some great leading duos in action movies with The Rip (Ben Affleck and Matt Damon) and The Wrecking Crew (Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa). Up next on that list is Thor vs. The Hulk, or rather an American-accented Chris Hemsworth vs. Mark Ruffalo in Crime 101. The plot sounds like your typical heist movie (i.e. hella fun), and critics who were able to catch early screenings are weighing in as the crime thriller hits the 2026 movie calendar on February 13.

The cast of Crime 101 is very promising, with Halle Berry playing an insurance broker who gets caught up in jewel thief Mike Davis’ (Hemsworth) crimes, as Detective Lou Lubesnick (Ruffalo) closes in. Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte and more will also make appearances, and Damon Wise of Deadline says they don’t disappoint:

Ben Travis of Empire rates the movie 3 out of 5 stars, saying it’s “solidly enjoyable and well-constructed.” However, the movie is aptly titled, because for all of its slick presentation and impressive cast, Travis says, Crime 101 struggles to go beyond the basics. The critic continues:

Kristy Puchko of Mashable calls Crime 101 — an adaptation of the novella of the same name in Don Winslow’s 2020 collection Broken — a "competent" crime thriller, shining with star power and “stellar” car chases, with enough twists to keep audiences on their toes. In comparison to Bart Layton’s past projects, however, there’s something missing. Puchko writes:

Ryan Lattanzio of IndieWire gives the movie a B-, calling it “far from terrible,” especially thanks to Halle Berry and Mark Ruffalo. However, in expanding the novella’s story, Bart Layton adds some unnecessary ingredients to the pot, the critic says, “with characters intersecting and allegiances and motivations often contradicting one another.” Lattanzio concludes:

Clint Gage of IGN gives the upcoming action movie an “Okay” 6 out of 10, saying it has everything a heist thriller ought to have, but not much else. There are interesting ideas at play throughout the film, Gage writes, that get swapped out in service of a less-compelling plot. The critic continues:

Of all the critics’ assessments that I went through, most of them seem middling, praising the director’s portrayal of Los Angeles and providing fun action scenes. And despite the stellar cast doing apparently solid work, there’s still the feeling that critics were left wanting something more in terms of originality.

Either way, Crime 101 has been Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with 87%, so it would seem that the good outweighs the bad. If this crime thriller sounds like a fun way to spend two-plus hours, you can catch it in theaters now, as of February 13.

Chris Hemsworth is no stranger to accents, and it turns out, neither are his kids (whether they like it or not). Now, in his new flick on the 2026 movie schedule, Crime 101, the Australian actor plays an American. So, while speaking to CinemaBlend about that, he revealed that his children were not the biggest fans of the way he prepared to do an accent different from his own.

The crime caper Crime 101 is set in California and features a slew of characters from the area. Leading the ensemble is Chris Hemsworth’s nervous yet masterful thief, Davis. So, considering his character is local to where the film takes place, the actor sported an American accent. When CinemaBlend’s Hannah Saulic asked if there was a word he used to get into the accent, the actor told her:

Chris Hemsworth has three kids: India Rose, who was born in 2012, and twins Sasha and Tristan, who were born in 2014. Considering their ages, he was likely reading them bedtime stories while he was preparing to play characters like Thor (who is returning in Avengers: Doomsday), Billy Lee in the well-reviewed Bad Times at the El Royale and more. That’s because, more often than not, he’s not playing an Australian and has to do an accent. And I have to admit, I, too, would be thrown for a loop if I were a kid and my father was reading me stories in a voice that wasn’t the one I was used to.

However, when the kids look back on Hemsworth’s best movies, I’d hope they think about storytime fondly. Plus, I bet the actor’s daughter has a new appreciation for his work, considering she’s set to be in Avengers: Doomsday with him (even though he had to kind of bribe her to do it). Although kids famously typically don’t care about what their parents do, as many actors have made clear. So, it’s certainly possible that the Crime 101 star’s kids have always been a bit irked by his accent practice.

Now, as a fan of Hemsworth, I appreciate his unique way of preparing.

In his latest movie, I am also here for both his accent and his physicality. Unlike a lot of his roles, Davis in Crime 101 is not nearly as confident and charismatic as some of Hemsworth’s other characters. He’s significantly more reserved than a character like Thor, and obviously, he sounds different, too, seeing as he’s American. So, all around, this movie gives us a chance to see a new side of the actor’s range.

Now, going back to Hemsworth’s mini mes, I’d be curious to see what they think of their dad’s accent work now. Do they love it? Do they hate it even more? Have they ever tried to do the accents he was working on? I’m interested in it all.

However, I don’t know if we’ll ever get answers to those. So, I’ll just appreciate and laugh about the story Hemsworth told us as I go see Crime 101 in theaters this weekend.

Chris Hemsworth accomplished the ultimate Take Your Daughter to Work day when his daughter India, was cast in Thor: Love and Thunder. Of course, once you’re part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s no telling where you might show up, and while India was apparently quite excited to return for the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday when she signed on, by the time filming began she felt differently.

Chris Hemsworth recently appeared on The View and was asked about the experience of filming with his daughter. While he clearly loved the experience, she initially was less than excited, which Hemsworth chalked up to his daughter being a bit older than she was last time around. He said…

Two or three days of work on a movie set isn’t a lot, all things considered, so we can say that Love’s role in Avengers: Doomsday won’t be too big. However, it seems even that long was just too much for India, which, despite being part of what is sure to be the biggest film on the 2026 movie schedule, wanted to be anywhere else.

Things got so bad that India was apparently refusing to go to set, frustrated that everybody else was being paid to be there, while she wasn’t. Which is when Dad let her in on the fact that she was getting paid, which apparently changed things a bit. He continued…

I think Chris Hemsworth has been keeping secrets from his daughter because if India didn’t realize she was getting paid for Avengers: Doomsday, does she know she got paid for Thor: Love and Thunder? If she was paid last time, she would assume she would be paid this time. She must have been paid for the previous movie, right? I think Dad never told his kid she made money. I hope that cash got put away for college or something.

Apparently, getting paid for her work wasn’t quite enough on its own to get her to come to set. She wanted more, and apparently, tickets to a Billie Eilish concert were part of the deal. That said, India also did what anybody receiving an unexpected windfall would do: she figured out where to blow the cash. Hemsworth said…

The Avengers: Doomsday teaser with Thor and Love was the one of the set that got me the most excited for Avengers: Doomsday. I honestly can’t wait to see where the story goes for these characters. I’m certainly glad Chris Hemsworth was able to get his daughter to go to work.

Avengers: Doomsday will be one of the final 2026 movie releases, but Marvel Studios has already gotten a jump start on promoting it. Four teasers for the upcoming Marvel movie were released from late December to mid-January, including one of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor praying to his late father, Odin. However, when Hemsworth was recently asked about the Doomsday rollout, he selected a different teaser as his favorite one.

Among the many things to look forward to in Avengers: Doomsday is the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. Although Evans hasn’t been absent from the MCU that long, having reprised Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine, this will be his first appearance as Steve since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Hemsworth brought up his co-star’s Doomsday teaser while speaking with GamesRadar+, saying:

Although there have been rumors of Chris Evans playing an evil Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday, in this preview, we appear to be looking at the same Steve who was introduced back in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. You’ll recall at the end of Avengers: Endgame, he ventured back to those alternate timelines to return the Infinity Stones and Thor’s hammer, but then when he returned, he was an elderly man who’d decided to stay in the past to live a “beautiful” life with Peggy Carter. The elderly Steve was last seen giving his shield to Sam Wilson, making him the new Captain America.

Now Avengers: Doomsday is giving us the opportunity to spend more time with the younger Steve, who’s now a father. No official reason has been given yet for how he fits into the story, although it’s rumored that Doctor Doom will recruit him to help gain the trust of the heroes on Earth-616. Whether that’s true or not, Chris Hemsworth was impressed by how Marvel Studios revealed Evans’ involvement in Doomsday, as well as how Steve and Evans are both now fathers. Evans and his wife, Alba Baptista, welcomed their daughter, Alma Grace, in October 2025.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo said earlier this month that Steve Rogers’ “central role” to the Avengers and wider MCU meant that they couldn’t envision making Avengers: Doomsday without him in it. And then, of course, Robert Downey Jr. is transitioning from playing Tony Stark to Doctor Doom, though it remains to be seen for what reason those characters look alike. Between them and several of the original X-Men movies actors reprising their roles, Doomsday feels like it’ll be a homecoming of sorts.

Though Avengers: Doomsday doesn’t come out until December 18, ideally one of the trailers released will shed some light on what we can expect from Steve Rogers. This is the only 2026 movie Chris Evans is set to appear in, but Chris Hemsworth can be seen in Crime 101 starting this Friday, February 13.

Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo are two of our longest-tenured MCU stars right now, with the former having started his journey in 2011’s Thor and Ruffalo joining the action in 2012’s The Avengers. This means that they’ve worked with many others over the course of the Marvel movies in order, and probably know nearly everyone who’s also played a major role in the films. What Happened When Chris Hemsworth Played A Marvel Actor Guessing Game With Mark Ruffalo

The 2026 movie schedule is poised to bring us two new films from the MCU, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, in the coming months, but the time is upon us for another movie that sees two Avengers stars reunite, Crime 101. That Heat-adjacent crime thriller stars Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo (along with Halle Berry, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, and more), meaning that the actors have now appeared in their first non-MCU film together.

With each of them being so entrenched in the Marvel multiverse, however, MTV UK recently asked them to play a round of Who Even Am I, a game where they try to guess which of their previous co-stars is being hinted at, and several of those mentioned are, of course, also veterans of the MCU. A clip was posted to Instagram, and, well, just take a look at how fun it was:

OMG. I’m obsessed! First of all, considering how many of us non-actors are basically addicted to superhero movies, many of us could play a game just like this with no problem. I think a lot of people would be able to nail both the hints and the guesses even if we also included this duo’s non-Marvel co-stars in it, simply because we also love a lot of the films they’ve done away from the mega blockbuster franchise.

Secondly, when watching the full video, they both actually do a very good job of guessing who’s being discussed, considering the sheer number of well-known actors like Tom Holland they’ve worked with (even in incredibly small roles), just in the MCU.

Something that I also love about the video is how, because of intense Marvel secrecy, they are frequently unsure of what questions to say yay or nay to, so as not to give away anything from upcoming films. This is, as we know, a factor of starring in the films/TV shows that’s sometimes been an issue for Ruffalo, and the man we see as the mystery co-star in the video clip, with Holland having spoiled specific movie scenes (and other details) on more than one occasion.

In an interview with BroBible to promote his new movie Crime 101, Chris Hemsworth was asked how he sees Thor’s role in the MCU and what part of the character’s growth he’s most proud of after 15 years. The actor started off by saying how grateful he was to have worked with Kenneth Branagh on the first Thor movie, calling him “one of the best directors and most detailed, collaborative partners.” Hemsworth continued:

Those first six years of Thor in the MCU were definitely unsteady at best. That’s not to say he was a bad character, but he didn’t stand out as much compared to other heroes like Iron Man and Captain America. Then Taika Waititi came along for Thor: Ragnarok and capitalized on the humor that Thor had shown here and there in his previous appearances. That decision paid off, with Ragnarok excelling both critically and commercially.

Granted, Thor: Love and Thunder wasn’t as well received in 2022, and Chris Hemsworth admitted he “didn’t stick the landing” with his performance. It’s also fitting that Chris Hemsworth referred to Thor as an elder in Avengers: Doomsday, not just because of his age, but because he’s the only original Avenger confirmed to appear. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for constantly expanding, through the release of projects in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. While there are plenty of exciting projects, the most anticipated upcoming Marvel movie is The Russo Brothers' Avengers: Doomsday. There are plenty of fans who have been hoping Halle Berry returns as Storm in that project, and Chris Hemsworth told CinemaBlend why he would love to have a crossover with Thor.

What we know about Avengers: Doomsday is super limited, so there are countless rumors about what might be included. The Doomsday cast announcement revealed entire teams of heroes that will appear, including a number of OGs from the X-Men movies. As you can see in the above video, during a conversation with CinemaBlend about their movie Crime 101, Hemsworth and Berry were asked if Thor would see Storm as "stealing his thunder" in a potential crossover. The Extraction actor further spoke about why he thinks that Thor would actually appreciate seeing the Weather Witch at work, rather than being mad about it. In his words:

After hearing Hemsworth's comments, I'm even more bummed that Halle Berry won't be appearing on Avengers: Doomsday. The actress has repeatedly denied returning as Storm, although some fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order are still holding out hope. And these two actors' chemistry is only increasing the chatter online.

Indeed, Hemsworth and Berry's reactions to these crossover talks have some fans convinced they might be keeping a secret. If you follow news about upcoming Marvel movies, then you’re likely aware about how often Mark Ruffalo spoils things. The man who’s been playing Bruce Banner/Hulk since 2012’s The Avengers has a history of accidentally revealing things in the superhero franchise that are meant to stay secret, and once he even livestreamed the first 10 minutes of the Thor: Ragnarok world premiere. Well, Ruffalo strikes again with a slip about Avengers: Secret Wars, although in fairness, he had some help from Thor actor Chris Hemsworth with revealing this spoiler.

Ruffalo and Hemsworth star alongside Halle Berry in Crime 101, which opens on the 2026 movies schedule next week. The trio took a pub quiz while being interviewed by BuzzFeed UK, and one of the questions asked was which among them had been in the most superhero projects, and if they can name them all. The answer was Hemsworth, and while the actor himself was writing down all his Thor appearances, Ruffalo blurt out “Six.” When Hemsworth questioned Ruffalo’s number, he answered, “Well there will be,” leading the Aussie to say, “Yeah, but we haven’t shot that one.”

Avengers: Secret Wars wasn’t outright mentioned, but it doesn’t take much for anyone who keeps close tabs on the MCU to figure out that’s what Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth are talking about. I’m not just talking about the fact that it’s the most likely place for Thor to appear next after Avengers: Doomsday; it’s literally the only MCU movie dated following Doomsday. So basically, Thor fans can rest easy knowing that the God of Thunder makes it out of the next Avengers movie alive.

Add another entry on the Mark Ruffalo spoiler list, although if Chris Hemsworth hadn’t chimed in, maybe this wouldn’t have gotten so much attention. What I’m curious about now is how Ruffalo knows about Hemsworth’s involvement in Avengers: Secret Wars since there’s been no mention of the former actor being present in either that movie or Avengers: Doomsday. Maybe he simply learned this from people over at Marvel Studios, or maybe he knows this firsthand because he’ll be in Secret Wars, too.

I’m not going to fall down the rabbit hole of speculating how Hulk could factor into Avengers: Secret Wars, nor will I go on a tangent about how he might be one of the actors being kept secret for Avengers: Doomsday. All I’ll say is that since Mark Ruffalo has appeared in all the prior Avengers movies, it’ll be weird if he’s not around for the next two. As for Thor, his Doomsday teaser showed him praying to his late father, Odin, for a safe return to his adoptive daughter Love. Maybe we’ll see them reunite in Secret Wars.

Avengers: Doomsday comes out on December 18, and Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027. However things shake out with Mark Ruffalo on those movies, we can at least look forward to him reprising Hulk when Spider-Man: Brand New Day is released on July 31. When it comes to crime thrillers, there aren’t many directors who are in the same league as Michael Mann. He’s created some incredible additions to the genre, including the absolutely iconic Heat, a movie that is finally getting the sequel that many fans have hoped to see for years. That said, not every Michael Mann movie has been a winner, though one of his lesser-regarded films is apparently finding new life on streaming.

Blackhat Is A Top Streaming Movie On HBO Max

Even if you’re a serious movie fan, you’d be forgiven if you’ve largely forgotten Blackhat. The 2015 film starred Chris Hemsworth as a hacker who is released from prison and enlisted by the FBI to track down a group of criminals who hacked a Hong Kong nuclear plant. The film didn’t do particularly well with critics., It sits at a 33% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it did even worse at the box office. Grossing less than $20 million against a reported budget of $70 million.

Blackhat is one of the lowest-grossing wide-release movies ever made, but maybe that’s why Flixpatrol reports that the film has been the number three movie on HBO Max recently. Clearly a lot of people didn't go to see it when it came out, so anyone already paying for an HBO Max subscription might as well check it out.

None of this is to say the movie is actually bad. Some critics who reviewed the film back in 2015 not only thought it was good, but thought it was one of the best movies of the year. It’s possible those critics were on to something, as Blackhat has been receiving something of a reappraisal in recent years. While it’s not necessarily considered a forgotten masterpiece, many do feel the film is better than it was given credit for upon release.’

Blackhat would hardly be the first “bad” movie to be discovered on streaming. Many movies that get overlooked in theaters end up getting a lot of views on streaming platforms, whether or not doing so changes people’s perception of the movie’s quality. Sometimes people watch Madame Web on Netflix just because they want to see how bad it is.

While Blackhat is a top streaming movie globally on HBO Max, that doesn't mean it's a top choice everywhere in the world. Blackhat isn't a top streaming choice in the U.S. Domestically, you'll need a Prime Video subscription to watch the film rather than one for HBO Max.

Blackhat's success seems to be focused on various countries in South America. They must be watching in pretty remarkable numbers to make the movie a top hit globally despite only regional success. It's likely worth noting that the top streaming movie globally on HBO Max, Sinners, isn't a top 10 performer in most of the places where Blackhat is doing well. Maybe they just prefer Michael Mann to Ryan Coogler down there.

It’s possible that people seeing the news about the upcoming Heat 2 got it in their head to watch some of Michael Mann’s other films, and Blackhat has been one of the beneficiaries of that. If you want to rewatch the original Heat, however, you’ll need a Hulu subscription.

I absolutely can’t verify that last anonymous Reddit comment, but if it’s true, the point is that it is not that easy to maintain an insane physique, even if you are an actor who is paid millions to do so. I doubt even Chris Hemsworth would disagree with that if you were to ask him. I'd even be willing to bet he'd enjoy having a few more snacks in his life, who wouldn't? But work beckons, and he's been open in the past about his weight and fitness fluctuating based on what is going on in his life.

However, we've known he's been prepping for the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday ever since the studio's lengthy-yet-popular chair announcements came down the pipeline. The latest Avengers flick, Doomsday, is set to hit the 2026 release schedule on December 18th.

Sure, the Avengers: Doomsday cast is already stacked with 26 Marvel heroes confirmed to be on the roster to duke it out against Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom. But, if we’ve learned anything from the MCU in the past two decades, it’s that the studio loves a surprise cameo. Why I Think Storm Could Be In Avengers: Doomsday Or Secret Wars

As if that exchange wasn’t enough to convince us all, let’s talk through why her return actually makes a lot of sense. The biggest one is a lot of the original X-Men actors are already returning to the mix for Doomsday with Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier / Professor X), Ian McKellen (Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto), Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Raven Darkhölme / Mystique) and James Marsden (Scott Summers / Cyclops) already in the cast. The characters even got their own Doomsday teaser, so you know they'll have a sizable storyline.

Plus, while Marvel announced a lot of cast members already, they are going to want to shock audiences a few times over, and bringing in Storm would be a really great moment. She may not have a name on a chair, but I do think if she doesn’t have a surprise moment, it’s possible Berry could show up in Avengers: Secret Wars rather than Doomsday.

Sure, I might be putting on my clown makeup come December 18, when Avengers: Doomsday becomes the latest of upcoming Marvel movies to hit theaters, but you can’t blame me after that video for getting some big hope for more of Halle Berry’s Storm.

The kickoff of the 2026 movie schedule means we’re officially in the same year as the release of Avengers: Doomsday. To hype everyone up about that, Marvel has been posting teaser trailers that show us our first looks at various characters in this highly anticipated movie. Now, said trailers have hit a major milestone, so Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., and I are celebrating.

Following the release of four teaser trailers over the last few weeks, Marvel revealed that it has amassed over 1 billion views on its Doomsday content. So, in celebration of that, Robert Downey Jr., who is returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom, reposted the clip alongside this short and sweet message on Instagram:

One billion views is certainly a lot, and it 100% deserves to be celebrated. The massive scale of this movie deserves that kind of attention.

I write that because over the last few weeks, these trailers have revealed just how massive the scope of this film is. First, we got Captain America’s teaser first, which confirmed the return of Chris Evans to the MCU. After that, Thor’s trailer was released, showing Chris Hemsworth back as the God of Thunder.

Following the two teasers that involved Avengers, we got the exciting X-Men trailer, which gave us Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan and James Marsden back as Professor X, Magneto and Cyclops, respectively. Then, the fourth Doomsday teaser took us to Wakanda, where we got to see Shuri and M’Baku interact with the Thing from the Fantastic Four.

Overall, while the hype was already real, it got bigger with the release of these teasers for the upcoming Marvel movie. Those view counts prove it, and it’s worthy of fun posts, like this one Chris Hemsworth put on his Instagram story:

Along with the view counts being high, the theories have been running wild. In fact, some fans think they’ve cracked a secret message in the Doomsday teasers that connects their timestamps to moments in Endgame that could correspond to various characters’ stories in the newest Avengers movie.

With those theories in mind, I imagine fans will continue to watch these teasers to try to figure out what’s about to happen in Doomsday. So, I bet the view count on them will keep growing!

Then, on December 18, we can move away from the trailers and theories and head to the movie theaters to watch Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and the rest of Doomsday’s stellar cast assemble for this highly anticipated Avengers movie.

Look, I don't actually think superhero fatigue is really a thing, but that said, I've been having trouble getting excited for Avengers: Doomsday. The first trailer for the film, which confirmed the return of Chris Evans as Captain America, didn't really help matters for me, either. However, the second trailer, which shines the spotlight on Chris Hemsworth's Thor, has finally got me looking forward to next year.

The Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Moves Thor's Story Forward

The first Doomsday trailer with Chris Evans was simple and showed us the man as he apparently lives now, with a baby of his own. The new trailer with Thor also focuses on a hero and a child, but while the first one felt like a step backward for the MCU, the new one takes Thor on the next step of his journey.

We see Thor in the woods, alone, praying to his father, asking for the strength and the guidance to fight and survive one last battle. This is not for himself, but for his child. In Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor picked up the child Love, and the two have clearly become a family in the time that has passed since then.

Did this trailer touch me because I'm a dad? Almost certainly. However, it isn't just that. If that were the case, then Steve Rogers and a baby would have hit me in the feels just as well. What's different about this one is that it not only teases the future of the plot but the future of the character, one who has seen one of the more interesting arcs over the course of the MCU.

I'm Now Very Worried For Thor

Seeing the return of both Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. to the Marvel Cinematic Universe certainly feels like a move by Marvel Studios to get people who haven't been into the last few phases post-Endgame excited about the franchise again. However, I've always been much more interested in seeing time progress in the MCU.

Having said that, and this probably is the dad in me talking, I'm now much more worried about what's going to happen to Thor in Avengers: Doomsday. Chris Hemsworth himself started the rumor mill going that Thor may not survive the next film. This trailer certainly seems to be hinting that things could go in that direction. Could Thor be the one who heroically sacrifices himself to save the world this time around? Love has already lost one father. If she loses another, I may not be able to handle it. That is the dad in me talking.

Still, the question of what's going to happen to Thor is now the main reason I'll be sitting down to watch Doomsday when it premieres on the 2026 movie schedule. Congratulations, Marvel, you got me.

Chris Hemsworth's name was the first we were given when the Avengers: Doomsday cast was announced, which doesn't guarantee he'll be a focal point of the story, but could certainly hint that's the case. If Doomsday or Secret Wars mark Hemsworth's end in the MCU, I'm certainly hoping he sees an ending more like Captain America than Iron Man. Of course, whatever happens, it apparently doesn't mean he won't come back anyway.

Dancing with the Stars wrapped its 34th season earlier this month, crowning Robert Irwin as the champion alongside pro dancer Witney Carson. We’ve got some time before the next season presumably hits the 2026 TV schedule, but ideas are constantly being floated for which actors, reality stars, athletes and influencers might be next to enter the ballroom. Former troupe member Hayley Erbert Hough definitely has thoughts, and while Chris Hemsworth is a fun option, I love the singer she’s always had her eye on.

Hayley Erbert Hough has a long history with Dancing with the Stars. In addition to serving as a member of the dance troupe on multiple seasons, she’s married to pro-turned-judge Derek Hough. As far as who she’d like to see pair up with one of the show’s professional dancers, there’s one singer Hayley has been wanting for a long time. She told Woman’s World:

In December 2022, the iconic Canadian singer announced she’d been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that caused spasms, making it difficult for her to walk or use her vocal chords. While she was forced to cancel the multiple shows she had scheduled, Celine Dion made an emotional comeback appearance at the opening ceremonies of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

I’m not sure how or if the muscle stiffness or other symptoms that reportedly can come with SPS would affect Celine Dion’s ability to be on DWTS, but it’s certainly something I think a lot of people would be interested in.

She wasn’t the only name Hayley Erbert Hough threw out, though. One specific Marvel actor also stuck out to the dancer as someone who would be good on the show, as she said:

Dang it, Australia! I guess that makes sense, with Chris Hemsworth being Australian and all.

The Thor actor competed on the Down Under version of DWTS in 2006, where he made it to Week 7 with partner Abbey Ross. With 20 years having passed, I personally think enough time has passed for him to compete in America.

We’ll have to see what happens, because he’s not the only one people are hoping to see. Fellow MCU star Simu Liu is a top choice amongst fans, who would love to see him partnered with Britt Stewart. And after both Bindi and Robert Irwin claimed the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy, people are now calling for their mom Terri to take the dance floor. Only time will tell!

There are so many potential distractions in the world today that it can be difficult to really focus on what’s important: the 2026 movie schedule debut of Avengers: Doomsday. Luckily, directors Joe and Anthony Russo are here to help us cut through all the unnecessary noise with a helpful reminder, in the form of a very doomsday-esque countdown clock, and star Chris Hemsworth used the perfect emoji to respond to their post.

How Chris Hemsworth Responded To The Avengers: Doomsday Countdown Clock

There are sure to be surprises aplenty for fans when Avengers: Doomsday is released next December (including the possibility that Chris Evans’ Captain America will play a major part), but one of them will not be the appearance of Chris Hemsworth, who’s returning to portray Thor as revealed in the marathon cast confirmation video from earlier this year. Though we don’t know yet whether or not this will be his final time as Thor in the Marvel multiverse, it’s clear he’s pretty excited about the upcoming superhero movie, as could be seen in his Instagram Stories post about the Russo brothers’ countdown clock clip. Well, of course! I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that I didn’t guess what his response was before actually setting my eyes on it, because it’s a simple, pitch perfect emoji of the famed Mjölnir and some lightning bolts. What can I say, guys. I hadn’t had my coffee yet, OK?

With Hemsworth appearing to have wrapped filming back in August, it’s made a lot of fans wonder about just how large a part Thor could play in the coming adventure, to the point that many have theorized that the God of Thunder could actually, gasp, die in this movie.

What we do know about his part in the film so far is that the actor actually toned his incredibly intense Thor: Love and Thunder training waaaay down, so he will likely be a lot less swole when we see whatever it is he gets up to in Doomsday. Along with that, he previously noted that we, apparently, won’t be treated to scenes in New Asgard, but considering how secretive all MCU projects are, I wouldn’t be surprised if we actually do see the locale and he simply doesn’t know it.

The new film will, of course, see a host of Marvel heroes new, old, and…renewed (like Kelsey Grammer’s Beast) band together to take on Doctor Doom, who’s, well, alright fine. We don’t know what he’s doing or why, but you can bet it’s gonna be bad. Regardless, I know there are millions of fans like me who can’t wait to watch, and see Thor return to action.

While this drive certainly helped Chris Hemsworth, it also led to anxiety. He says that when he was cast on long-running soap opera Home and Away, a launch pad for many Australian stars, it was wonderful for a while... until he started to dwell on every perceived mistake he was making, to the point that it was all he was thinking about.

In the end, Hemsworth says he had to do a “dance” that would see him caring deeply in his preparation for the work, while then being able to let go of it after it was done. It’s still something that he says he works to deal with, but clearly, it was a solution for him, as he ultimately achieved exactly the success he wanted.

Although Marvel Comics’ version of Thor has been battling evildoers in the pages of comic books since 1962, it’s no secret that the character got a significant boost in popularity thanks to Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal of him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hemsworth debuted as the God of Thunder in 2011’s Thor, then returned a year later for The Avengers. Thor, of course, wields Mjolnir in battle, and while that hammer may strike fear into the hearts of his enemies, it was a joke to the Avengers actors early on, Hemsworth included.

Because the Mjolnir that Chris Hemsworth used on The Avengers set was made of foam, he and the other Avengers actor couldn’t help but make fun of it. Jeremy Renner, who plays Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the MCU, revealed this while appearing at a Florida Supercon panel (via Popverse), saying:

You have to remember that when The Avengers came out, the MCU was four years old and has only released five movies prior. Sure, superhero movies had been popular for well over a decade, and it was a game-changer to have such heroes come together for a team-up like this in a blockbuster movie, as opposed to seeing established teams like the X-Men and Fantastic Four. But even so, the MCU hadn’t yet become the pop culture staple we know it as today, so for Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth and the other actors, they couldn’t help but poke fun at the superhero-y ridiculousness while making The Avengers.

To be honest, if I was in their shoes and unfamiliar with the Marvel Comics source material, I probably would have done the same thing. Frankly, even knowing what I do about Thor, I’d probably still want to play around with that foam hammer if given the opportunity. Still, when it comes to those who live in the MCU, they better give Mjolnir the respect it deserves. And, if you’re among the very few who are considered worthy, like Steve Rogers and Vision, you may even get to pick it up yourself.

Jeremy Renner went on to say during the panel that he and his castmates eventually realized the importance of the Marvel mythology and how it means so much to the fans. But for Renner, his “biggest takeaway” from working on The Avengers, and the MCU as a whole, is how much he treasures his friendships with actors Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo, among others. In this case, it really is about the friends you make along the way.

Hemsworth and Downey will reunite in December 2026 for the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday, though the latter will now be playing Doctor Doom. While there’s been no official mention of Renner being involved in the next Avengers movie, he did visit the set over the summer while he was in London for his book tour. He also sounds optimistic about Hawkeye Season 2’s chances, so we’ll let you know if that next batch of episodes moves forwards.

The host and the actor still took a few moments to address Chris Hemsworth's unexpected endeavor to play the drums in front of a massive Ed Sheeran audience, with Liam telling Fallon that Chris did "not at all" know how to play the drums already. He went on:

The Thor actor's show in question is National Geographic's Limitless: Live Better Now, available streaming with a Disney+ subscription. It's the spiritual successor to Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, which released in 2022 and was billed as following the actor as he "attempts six epic challenges in his search for longevity." The Live Better Now incarnation is described on Disney+ as Hemsworth taking on "epic challenges to reveal ways we can live better today."

Based on Liam Hemsworth's comments, one of those ways to live better for his brother was to play the drums passably enough for Ed Sheeran, even if his brotherly support couldn't stop him from wondering what Chris was thinking. Fortunately, the Hunger Games vet had just enough time to make the trip from London to see his brother's debut as Ed Sheeran's drummer, as he recounted:

All's fair in love and brotherhood, and the duo spent some time together over Halloween. Plus, Liam Hemsworth undoubtedly knows a thing or two about stress when it comes to making television shows, with plenty of pressure on him as the new star of The Witcher replacing Henry Cavill. That's just not quite the same as making a drumming debut in front of presumably tens of thousands of live fans.

Liam Hemsworth doesn't seem tempted to follow in his older brother's footsteps of learning an instrument and then immediately taking the stage alongside Ed Sheeran. That said, even though his first season of The Witcher only premiered on Netflix in late October, his time wearing Geralt of Rivia's costume may already be over. The fifth and final season of The Witcher began to wrap filming earlier in the fall.

As for Chris Hemsworth, while he's likely still best known for his work as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Limitless: Live Better Now isn't his first or only project for National Geographic and Disney+. Liam Hemsworth’s fame may have blown up, thanks to the Hunger Games movies, but his star power is continuing to skyrocket now that he's replaced Henry Cavill on The Witcher. With that role, of course, comes a bevy of press obligations, and Hemsworth has been on a massive tour as of late. Despite the Aussie actor’s crazy busy schedule for the 2025 Netflix release, though, Hemsworth still took the time to visit his older brother, Chris, over Halloween weekend.

So far, the Last Song actor’s massively packed schedule for The Witcher press has meant attending the London premiere of the show's fourth season on October 23rd. He's also made plenty of talk show appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Live with Kelly and Mark and more. He even spoke to CinemaBlend about what it felt like wearing his Geralt costume for the first time. To say the life of an actor is a busy one would be understatement.

However, Daily Mail reports that Liam Hemsworth took time away from his hectic schedule to see his big brother, Chris, for Halloween weekend in Byron Bay. Per the outlet, during a chill backyard gathering, the Hemsworth brothers were seen chatting it up and drinks in hand. The two seemed to be enjoying each other’s company alone, as the Thor actor’s wife and kids had Halloween plans of their own for trick-or-treating. Considering Chris and Liam were enjoying the Australian sun with their pals, it’s no wonder they’re all smiles.

According to the publication, Chris and Liam Hemsworth really enjoy their time in their hometown. Chris has made a permanent home there with his wife and kids, as they moved there in 2015. He and Liam have since been spotted surfing, training or catching up with friends in The Land Down Under. The brotherly pair have also had some wild family adventures, like a Byron Bay camping trip and egging each other on while surfing the dunes. Talk about living it up!

Of course, there can't be all play without some work, and the Hemsworths know all about that. For Liam, there was some “noise” about him signed up for The Witcher Season 4, but that hasn’t stopped him from filling those big shoes (and wearing a long white wig) for his new role as Geralt. Chris Hemsworth, meanwhile, has been pretty busy himself and is looking towards his 2026 movie releases, Avengers: Doomsday and Crime 101. So, given the Hemsworths' busy schedules, it makes sense why they would want to kick back together during their time off.

I love hearing about celebrity siblings making time for each other amid their work obligations. Compared to doing endless interviews, beaches and backyard BBQs definitely make for a good counterbalance. While Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston play (adopted) brothers in the MCU, they're nothing alike both on and off screen, and that's a big reason why they're so great as Loki and Thor. That point was proven again recently, when Tessa Thompson spoke about her Thor: Ragnarok cast mates and explained why Hemsworth is like "a baby with muscles," and Hiddleston is the exact opposite of that.

At the BFI London Film Festival, Tessa Thompson jokingly said working with her Aussie MCU co-star was like being with “a baby with muscles” who eats every hour. Well, there’s no denying that Hemsworth is a foodie, as he would get in shape for the Thor movies by eating six meals a day. But we know he combines his massive diet with his rigorous workout regimen. Plus, his co-star's comments are a compliment to his performance as well, as she followed that up by saying he'll "do anything to get the laugh."

As for what the Valkyrie actress said about Tom Hiddleston, on the other hand, “a big baby” is not the adjective she used to describe him. In fact, she used the opposite descriptors, saying:

It’s funny that Thompson describes Tom Hiddleston as so “serious,” considering Loki has done a lot of outrageous things that fans can’t help but laugh over. From his witty one-liners to his mischievous pranks, Hiddleston brings a charming, playful tone to the character. However, he also knows exactly how to bring the drama and the gravitas, too.

The Creed star's comments allude to that. However, she also made it clear how inspired she is by Hiddleston's meticulous preparation process. Explaining the genius way he navigates working with green screen, Thompson said:

I love that! After all, working with blue/green screens can be very complicated, as you always have to imagine what’s around you. By having pictures on hand of what would likely be in post-production, it’s no wonder Hiddleston gave us such a believable performance!

I think it's safe to say that the way Thompson described her co-stars is fitting when you consider who they play. That funny and spontaneous "baby" energy is great for Thor, especially in Ragnarok. Meanwhile, while Hiddleston also brought the funny as Loki in this movie, he's significantly more serious than his brother.

Additional Mark Ruffalo is seemingly everywhere, with a busy career that belies that title of the upcoming 2025 movie Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, as we’re also seeing him in HBO’s now-concluded crime drama Task, and he’s rumored to co-star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Before that MCU flick arrives, though, he’ll be sharing the screen with not only fellow Avengers vet Chris Hemsworth, but also former X-Men franchise star Halle Berry (and The Batman’s maybe-Joker Barry Keoghan).

The upcoming 2026 movie in question is Amazon MGM’s Crime 101, which has finally unveiled its first trailer for the public, six months after the first footage was previewed at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. And by and large, it looks like Ruffalo and Hemsworth have slotted themselves into Al Pacino and Robert De Niro’s roles in Michael Mann’s Heat, with Hemsworth’s expert thief attempting to pull off a major heist despite all kinds of extra attention.

It's probably not a perfect 1:1 comparison, but it's not exactly a stretch. Set in Los Angeles, Crime 101 centers on the Thor portrayer's Davis, a canny jewel thief whose core M.O. is setting up his elaborate heists at spots along the 101 freeway. (In case anyone thought the movie title was about an introductory course.) A thief who strictly adheres to a self-imposed "code," Davis is set to take on the mythical "one last job" worth millions of dollars, and after meeting up with Halle Berry's insurance broker Sarah, he takes her on as his partner in crime.

Meanwhile, Mark Ruffalo's Det. Lou Lubesnik is attempting to figure out who's responsible for the line of robberies. His investigation deepens all while Davis and Sarah get closer to their big heist, and that's when the normal distinctions between cops and criminals starts to shift. No giant hammers or clothes-destroying Hulk-outs or anything, but pretty tense all the same.

Again, not exactly the same as Heat, but the basic building blocks are there, and I can't wait to see how it all shakes out, especially since the core trio of stars is buttressed by a wealth of supporting actors, as listed below:

Crime 101 is directed by The Imposter's Bart Layton, who also co-wrote the script alongside Oscar-winning writer Peter Straughton (Conclave). The film is an adaptation of Don Winslow's novella of the same name.

At this time, Michael Mann is putting together the highly anticipated sequel Heat 2, which may bring Leonardo DiCaprio into the fold, but we'll be watching Crime 101 long before that project hits the big screen.

Crime 101 is set to hit theaters on February 13, 2026, ahead of its eventual streaming release via Amazon Prime subscription.

It’s no secret that the Avengers cast is still close. So, as Avengers: Doomsday works toward its release on the 2026 film schedule, it’s always nice to hear how the OG ensemble is supporting the actors reprising their roles. So, I asked Jeremy Renner about how his former co-stars continue to support each other in all walks of life, and his response about connecting with them in London leaves me wondering about the timing.

At this point, it’s very well known that Avengers: Doomsday has been filming in London for a while. Meanwhile, over the last year, Jeremy Renner has been working on Season 4 of Mayor of Kingstown and promoting his book, My Next Breath. He also took that book on a tour over the summer and made a stop in London. While there, he met up with some of the upcoming Marvel movie’s cast. Recalling that reunion, he told me the following during an interview for CinemaBlend:

This response came after I asked Renner about Robert Downey Jr. supporting his book's release. I also asked him if he had the chance to catch up with the Doctor Doom actor about Doomsday. It turns out, he hasn't just talked to him about it; he met up with some of the cast in London, where the movie is being made.

For context, the Hurt Locker actor was in London in mid-June for his book tour. He stopped at Cadogan Hall on June 12, specifically to chat about My Next Breath. As he told me, that trip also allowed him to “break bread” with “all of the boys” working on Doomsday.

So, considering all this, it’s hard not to wonder if there are dots worth connecting. Even though the Avengers: Doomsday chair livestream revealed an absolutely massive cast of heroes set to star in the upcoming Marvel movie, there are still tons of theories flying around about others who could join them.

When it comes to Renner specifically, there has been quite a bit of curiosity around whether he’ll ever return to the MCU in general as Clint Barton. That’s because, back in July of 2024 (which was months before the chair live stream), when he was asked about Doomsday and Secret Wars, he told Us Weekly that he’d “probably be doing it” if they could figure it all out. More recently, he was also asked if he’d ever play Hawkeye again, and he said he’s “always game to do it.”

So, his return isn’t out of the question, and his trip to London for his book has me speculating about the chance he’ll appear in Doomsday. Of course, that’s not confirmed, and as far as we know, he’s not in the cast. However, the timing was pretty perfect, and I can’t help but fantasize about another OG Avenger joining this ensemble.

Speaking of that 2012 Avengers cast, we know Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston will all be in Doomsday. Other actors who were in Avengers: Infinity War and/or Endgame – like Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie – will appear too. Alongside them, we’ll get to see some of the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and the Thunderbolts (I mean New Avengers) in the movie as well.

However, despite the already massive cast, there are still theories and questions about who else could show up. But we’ll just have to wait for Doomsday’s release on December 18, 2026, to see who appears and who doesn’t. And while there are question marks surrounding all that, one thing I feel like we can bet on is that, whether they’re in the film or not, people like Jeremy Renner will likely show up to support his fellow heroes and vice versa, just like they did on his trip to London.
