Schitt's Creek is considered one of the best sitcoms of all time, and helped to make creator/writer/star Dan Levy into a household name. And while he worked on the movie Good Grief (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription), he finally returned to the small screen with the dark comedy Big Mistakes. I binge-watched the entire series in one day, and am eager for more episodes. But I'm starting to get nervous since it hasn't officially been renewed just yet.

Critics loved Big Mistakes upon its release, with it currently having a solid audience and critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. The show was trending on Netflix's Top 10 TV shows for weeks, and clearly set up a season season. So what exactly is Netflix waiting for?

I Need More Big Mistakes After That A+ Cliffhanger

Following the Schitt's Creek series finale, fans waited years for Dan Levy to return to TV with another original show. He really delivered with Big Mistakes, which is a dark comedy about a pair of siblings who accidentally find themselves blackmailed into the world of organized crime. Each episode flies by with a sensible 30-minute runtime, which is buoyed by the mixture of laughs and high-stakes drama. And it's this combination that found me tearing through the entirety of Season 1 on a gloomy Sunday.

Given what an Emmy-winning sensation Schitt's Creek ended up becoming, I have to assume that plenty of folks tuned in to see Big Mistakes. Netflix seemed to support this concept, as it was on the Top 10 for weeks on end. So I'm surprised that we haven't gotten a renewal announcement from the streaming service.

Big Mistakes' drama built up until its Season 1 finale, when we were hit with a game-changing twist. Namely, that Elizabeth Perkins' Annette, aka Morgan's future mother-in-law, was actually the mob mastermind manipulating the siblings into their newfound life of crime. It was a cliffhanger I couldn't have predicted, and it made me practically ravenous for more episodes.

But Netflix hasn't greenlit Big Mistakes for Season 2 just yet, and the silence is making me nervous. If the show ends up being cancelled, we'd never get any resolution about that thrilling finale. And that would be such a waste of potential, especially with a creative mastermind like Dan Levy in charge of the series. Fingers crossed that we hear one way or another from the folks at Netflix. Because the suspense is truly killing me.

Big Mistakes is currently streaming in its entirety over on Netflix as part of the 2026 TV schedule. While we wait for news about its renewal, fans can also re-watch Schitt's Creek over on Hulu. Because who doesn't need more of Dan Levy in their life?

Dan Levy is back in the world of comedic television. After Schitt’s Creek went from the little show that could to a massive Emmy-winning success, he’s returned to this realm with the series Big Mistakes, which just debuted on Netflix’s 2026 schedule. Already, this show, which Levy co-created with Rachel Sennott, has a great Rotten Tomatoes score, and guess what? It’s trending on Netflix, too.

At the time of this writing, Big Mistakes, the new streaming title that premiered on Netflix on April 9, has a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s also already No. 4 on Netflix's Top 10 TV Shows in the U.S. Today. That’s a pretty impressive place to kick things off, if you ask me.

The series follows two siblings named Nicky and Morgan, who are played by Levy and Taylor Ortega, respectively, as they’re accidentally roped into the world of organized crime. However, their own family chaos and their lack of knowledge when it comes to this unlawful world make their experience anything but organized.

While it takes a couple of episodes for the show to find its footing, once it does, it really gets moving. As Brian Tallerico’s review for Roger Ebert stated, the series eventually becomes “a more confident, balanced, entertaining show” that’s “an easy binge.”

Meanwhile, NPR’s review by Glen Weldon praised the show’s comedy and performances, specifically calling Laurie Metcalf, who plays Levy’s mom, Linda, “pure comedy gold.” She really is, too. Metcalf is an absolute whirlwind in the best way in Big Mistakes, and she adds a fun and unpredictable element to her kids’ already wild and crazy tale.

Alongside Levy, Ortega and Metcalf, Abby Quinn rounds out this dysfunctional family as Nicky and Morgan’s sister, Natalie. I’d also like to highlight Adults star Jack Innanen, who plays Max, Morgan’s boyfriend. He’s hilarious. All around, that’s what this entire ensemble is, too, as they all fully lean into the chaos of the situations they’ve found themselves in.

Now, at the moment, this 2026 TV schedule entry is No. 4 on Netflix’s Top 10 Shows in the U.S. Personally, I think it should be No. 1, however, at the time of this writing, the streamer’s top ten series are: Trust Me: The False Prophet, Danny Go!, Love on the Spectrum, Big Mistakes, XO, Kitty, Something Very Bad is Going to Happen, The Predator of Seville, Virgin River and Bloodhounds.

Well, if you are looking for a comedy to watch with your Netflix subscription, that list and Big Mistakes’ Rotten Tomatoes score should highlight that Dan Levy’s new series is the one to tune into.

Remember, Schitt’s Creek is one of the best sitcoms ever. So, Levy returning to the world of comedy and TV is a big deal. And I love that he’s done so with an action-packed bang. Therefore, you should really tune into Big Mistakes. The numbers and talent speak for themselves, but if you need more reassurance, trust me, it’s worth your time.

It was, sadly, at the end of January that TV and film fans learned of the passing of comedy legend Catherine O’Hara, who lit up the screen in innumerable movie and television projects across five decades. One of those TV shows could be said to have helped bring her talents to a far wider audience in her later years, and that’s the record-breaking Emmy winning comedy, Schitt’s Creek. However, she wasn’t initially interested in doing the series, but we know how creators Dan and Eugene Levy (who also co-starred with her) changed her mind.

How Dan And Eugene Levy Convinced Catherine O’Hara To Star In Schitt’s Creek

Seeing as how we know how difficult it can be for many actors to maintain steady work, it always seems a bit odd whenever we hear that someone turned down not just a job, but one that went on to become one of their most beloved roles in an overall hilarious show. But, that’s the case with Catherine O’Hara and Moira Rose, the self-obsessed former soap opera star that O’Hara portrayed on Schitt’s Creek for six seasons.

In a series that was filled to the brim with funny characters, O’Hara made sure that Moira stood out in the pack, and because of it fans are left with some of the most laugh-inducing episodes of TV ever made. This nearly wasn’t the case, though, and creators/co-stars/father-and-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy detailed to CBC Gem the story of how they convinced the Home Alone star to take the leap and join them in that wacky little fictional town. Dan said:

So, the Levys had approached O’Hara and were able to get her to take on the project because she was only supposed to appear in the short that was going to be used to attempt to sell the show to a network. Clearly, having Levy’s “first choice” co-star from the mockumentaries he penned with Christopher Guest (For Your Consideration, A Mighty Wind, Best in Show, and Waiting for Guffman) worked out, because the show was picked up.

This meant that Dan and his father had to attempt to coax O’Hara into the cast for the full series, but she said no and the pressure was on to get her to change her mind. He continued:

History indeed! The final season of Schitt’s Creek netted nominations in the seven major categories for a comedy series, with it also winning in every category, including an award for O’Hara for her wig-loving lead character. As she said in the same CBC Gem interview, “How stupid would I have been not to have done it?” Luckily, she was convinced, and TV comedy history was made.

Much of the Hollywood community and the public at large are currently mourning actress Catherine O’Hara, who died at the age of 71 this past week following a brief illness. Since news broke, fans and celebrities alike have been paying tribute to O’Hara, remembering her exceptional TV and film work. When it comes to O’Hara’s presence on the small screen, she’s particularly famous for Schitt’s Creek, and co-stars Dan and Eugene Levy along with other series alums memorialized her.

For six seasons, O’Hara played the role of quirky matriarch/former soap opera star Moira Rose on Schitt’s Creek (which is available to stream with a Hulu subscription). Playing O’Hara’s fictional husband, Johnny Rose, was Eugene Levy, who’d known the late actress since the ‘70s and starred alongside her on the sketch comedy show SCTV. After O’Hara’s death, Levy released a statement that was shared with Variety and opened up about his late friend and co-star:

Catherine O’Hara’s TV son on the Schitt’s, David Rose, was played by Dan Levy, who also served as co-creator (alongside father Eugene), writer and producer on the show. Levy shared his sentiments on Instagram, where he dropped a sweet photo of him and O’Hara along with a still from the show. In his post, Dan opened up not only about working with the late O’Hara but also about the deep personal ties he had to her long before the show was ever a thought:

Karen Robinson – who played Veronica “Ronnie” Lee on the Canadian sitcom – also commented on the Beetlejuice icon’s death. In a statement shared with USA Today, Robinson lauded her fellow Canada native’s abilities as a performer and expressed condolences for her loved ones:

Another Schitt’s Creek alum to speak out was Roland Schitt actor Chris Elliot. His statement was also shared with USA Today and included some sweet remembrances of O’Hara:

Sweet remarks also came from Jennifer Robertson, who played the role of Jocelyn Schitt on the show. Like her co-stars, Robertson also had nothing but kind words to share about O’Hara via a statement also shared with USA Today:

The highly bingeable Schitt’s Creek centers on the wealthy Rose family, who find themselves moving to the titular town after a shady business manager swipes their fortune. Shenanigans ensue as clashes between the Roses and upstanding citizens in town erupt. The Levys’ comedy received critical acclaim during its run, and Catherine O’Hara was lauded for her performance as Moira, which won her an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2020.

Catherine O’Hara certainly deserved that honor as well as the praise she’s since received following her passing. O’Hara’s castmates from The Studio – for which the late actress is currently nominated for a SAG Award – also paid tribute to her. It’s truly tragic that O’Hara is no longer with us, but I’m happy to see her Schitt’s family as well as a host of others honor her in such sweet ways.

When Dan Levy made Schitt’s Creek, he absolutely added a series to the list of the most rewatchable TV shows ever. So, I’m always curious what the actor/filmmaker has cooked up next. And, as it turns out, the clever talent is currently filming a new TV show for Netflix that absolutely seems to share some DNA with Schitt’s Creek. Let’s get into it.

A New Dan Levy Comedy Just Started Filming

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Dan Levy is currently in New Jersey filming a new comedy series for Netflix called Big Mistakes, and I’m so here for it. Levy created the series alongside another very funny and talented name in comedy these days, Rachel Sennott, and Levy also serves as its showrunner. The series will star Dan Levy alongside Taylor Ortega, Jack Innanen, Boran Kuzum and Abby Quinn, who are serving as series regulars, as well as Elizabeth Perkins, Jacob Gutierrez, Joe Barbara, Josh Fadem and Mark Ivanir, who have recurring roles.

The report made me aware of a TV deal Levy currently has with Netflix, which was made back in 2021, and led to Good Grief. But it’s the premise that really has me eyeing the next Dan Levy project.

Why It Has Me Hooked As A Schitt’s Creek Fan

The upcoming series, which I wouldn’t expect to be on the 2025 TV schedule, is centered around siblings who are described as “deeply incapable” as they are blackmailed into “the world of organized crime.” Of course, my mind went straight to Levy and Annie Murphy’s Schitt’s Creek characters, who one could describe similarly.

While I don’t expect Big Mistakes to necessarily be like Schitt’s Creek exactly by any means, I do think Levy knows how to write hilarious sibling relationships and fish-out-of-water storylines, and this sounds like that, except this time the stakes sound much higher than a well-off family being forced to live in a small town. I imagine Levy and Ortega (who is playing the sister in the series) will have to be dodging literal bullets and trying to come out of things alive.

Since the end of Schitt’s Creek back in 2020, Levy has definitely been busy. He had a stint on Sex Education, along with writing/directing and starring in the Netflix movie, Good Grief. He also hosted the 76th Emmy Awards with his dad, Eugene Levy, last year and has had credits in movies like Haunted Mansion, Unfrosted, Smurfs and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I’m definitely excited to see Dan Levy return to the TV comedy space, and it sounds like a premise that could lend itself to a following from Schitt’s Creek fans like myself, along with multiple seasons. I would imagine we can look forward to the show in 2026, but there’s no release date. For now, we know the show’s in the middle of production, and that incites a reaction that’s the opposite of “Ew, David!”

The Roses of Schitt’s Creek are icons. Though a little screwy at times, they are one of the TV families consistently treating each other well. And behind the scenes, they seemed to have a similar chaotic yet very loving energy. That was proven again as Annie Murphy recounted the story behind getting hired, and the way Dan Levy trolled her during it. Let's just say this story is worth an "Ew, David!"

Murphy joined the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast and covered a lot of ground, including how badly she wanted to land a role on this comedy that is now a Canadian megahit (it's also available to stream with a Hulu subscription). While talking about her Schitt's Creek auditions, she revealed it took weeks to hear back about whether she landed the role of David's sister Alexis or David's best friend Stevie. When she finally did get word, co-creator and soon-to-be peer (they didn’t know each other well at the time), Dan Levy, tricked her into thinking she didn’t land anything until the end. The actress explained:

Obviously, we knew how this story ended, because Murphy played Alexis for six seasons, won an Emmy for it, and had many viral moments. So, this tale is funny. However, at the moment, I would have been horrified. The actress explained that she did indeed feel that way then, even though she can laugh about it all now, saying:

Fully, an “Ew, David!” instance. But, it’s absolutely on par with the Rose family dynamics, so I can’t fault Levy all that much for playing it that way. It does make even more sense now that Levy shared that he had to deprogram himself from David Rose's actions after the show was over.

Overall, though, after watching Murphy and Levy together on screen and immediately falling in love with their siblings, I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing Alexis and David together. They truly do have that obnoxious yet loving brother-sister dynamic on-screen, and it seems like that's the case off-screen too.

After the comedy ended in 2020, the two found their next projects quickly. Dan Levy headed to Netflix for Good Grief, which, like Schitt's Creek, he created and starred in. Meanwhile, Murphy starred in Kevin Can F**k Himself. Also, you can catch the Black Mirror actress in Season 2 of Nine Perfect Strangers, which just ended on our 2025 TV schedule and is also available on Hulu. Next, she has one immediate project but is hoping for a Schitt’s Creek movie, and I’m right there with her.

It remains to be seen whether or not her onscreen brother, Dan Levy, will troll her in this wish too. I’m crossing my fingers that Murphy won’t have to cheekily pull out her iconic phrase if he tricks her with the unlikely but potential continuation. However, I'll also always be ready to yell "Ew, David!" if it's needed.

The biggest and best shows from the 2023-2024 TV schedule are being celebrated for the 76th annual Emmy Awards, at least after everyone gets to show off their eye-popping looks on the red carpet. With father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy handling emcee duties, this is actually the second Emmys of the year, with the entertainment strikes pushing the highly enjoyable 75th Emmys to January 2024.

So many shows are nominated for awards during the telecast (airing on ABC and streaming the next day with a Hulu subscription), though quite a few were already handed out during the Creative Arts Emmys ceremonies the weekend prior. For instance, The Traitors’ accent-affecting host Alan Cumming won for Outstanding Reality Competition host, and gave his thank you speech during E!’s red carpet coverage.

There’s no real downside to creating an iconic television character. For one thing, you have job security. Which then comes with a lifetime of residual pay. Sure, you can get typecast as a certain brand of character. But because everything in Hollywood is circular, it just means you’ll end up playing that character again in the eventual reboot/reimagining that makes its way to a streaming service. Right, Full House cast? 

Dan Levy has a different take on this conversation, however. For six wonderful seasons, Levy played the flamboyant and opinionated David Rose on Schitt’s Creek, opposite his father Eugene Levy, the brilliant Catherine O’Hara, and the exquisite Annie Murphy. If you miss the cast, we have suggestions on how best to keep up with their careers. For Levy, that means using your Netflix subscription to watch his directorial debut Good Grief, in which he also stars. But as he told the ReelBlend podcast during an exclusive interview, his Good Grief character couldn’t be more opposite of David Rose, and that meant Levy – the actor – had some habits he needed to break. As he explained:

I write at length about how the advent of streaming and the introduction of prestige cable has blurred (and basically removed) the line between television and movie stars. Now we get Jodie Foster in a new season of True Detective, or Kate Winslet in Mare of Easttown. It can free up an actor to attach themselves to a limited series, allowing them to continue pursuing upcoming movies, but also giving them the chance to chase great material in different formats. Still, as Dan Levy continued to elaborate on his time as David Rose, he wouldn’t change a thing, and he appreciated the evolutions it allowed him to explore. He went on to tell the ReelBlend hosts:

At one point, there were talks that Dan Levy, of Schitt’s Creek fame, would join the cast of Barbie as a Ken. However, sadly, we never got to see the David Rose actor in the Mojo Dojo Casa House, and we never got to hear him say “Ew, Ken!” And guess what? He’s sad about it too, and explained why.

It’s not that Dan Levy didn’t want to be in the Mattel movie. In fact, he is a big fan of Greta Gerwig, and he wanted to be part of the billion-dollar blockbuster that is Barbie. However, he wasn’t able to simply because of scheduling issues, as he told People:

While Levy didn’t specify which project took him away from Greta Gerwig's movie, he’s been booked and busy with four projects that came out in the last year. In 2023, he was part of the casts of Sex Education (which Barbie’s Emma Mackey and Ncuti Gatwa were also in), and Haunted Mansion plus he was in one episode of The Idol. He was also busy writing, directing, producing and starring in his film on the 2024 movie schedule, Good Grief– which is currently available through a Netflix subscription. So, it makes sense that “logistically” he wasn’t able to embrace his Ken-ergy in Barbie Land. 

However, even though you won’t see Levy as a Ken if you watch the movie with a Max subscription, you better believe he’s praising it as many Barbie reviews did in July. Speaking about how much he loves  Gerwig and the film in general, the Emmy winner said:

He also seemed to believe that Barbie was one of the best films of 2023, and as he explained, saying no was really hard. Reflecting back on having to turn down a role as Ken, Dan Levy said:

I bet that was a tough day! Not only would that have been a fun film to work on, but it’s also a cultural phenomenon. 

It turns out, Dan Levy isn’t the only actor who wasn’t able to play a Ken. Matt Bomer said no to Barbie too. The White Collar vet said no to the project, and, it was because he didn’t want to spend a lot of time away from his family. Then, like Levy, he ended up working on other big projects – Maestro and Fellow Travellers – and he has no regrets about not doing the film inspired by the iconic doll.

Similar to my feelings about Matt Bomer, I do really wish we could have seen Dan Levy as a Ken. That would have been iconic. However, I totally understand why he wasn’t able to. Now, while you can’t see him in Barbie, you can catch his feature-directorial debut, Good Grief, which he also wrote, produced and starred in, on Netflix, and that’s pretty fantastic!

The year 2024 is here and with it comes a some great streaming TV and movies. The first of each month is already a big day for streaming platforms, as it’s usually a major day of transition, but this year is looking even better and bolder -- and full of shows leaving platforms. Licensing deals begin and end at the start of the month, so Netflix subscribers, for example, lose a lot of content but gain a lot more to replace it.

This means that this year there’s a ton of content that, while it might not be strictly new to you, may be new to your streamer of choice. There are certainly some highlights in the library, but there’s also plenty of original content out right now.

The Brothers Sun - January 4

There is no such thing as too much Michelle Yeoh. Following her Oscar-winning turn in Everything Everywhere All At Once the actress has been nearly everywhere, and she makes everything she’s in better. That may also be the case with The Brothers Sun. The new series sees Yeoh as the matriarch of a Taiwanese Triad with two sons, one has become key to the family business, and the other has no idea what his family truly is. The show looks to blend incredible action with a significant amount of humor.

Society Of The Snow - January 4

Based on the book of the same name, Society of the Snow is the story of the 1972 plane flight disaster in the Andes mountains that led to 16 survivors, members of the Uruguayan Rugby Team, to struggle for survival. Directed by J. A. Bayona, the film has already won several awards and is shortlisted for multiple Oscars. 

Good Grief - January 5

Most people know Dan Levy from his work on the hilarious Schitt’s Creek (which ran for six seasons), but they’ll see a very different side of him in the drama Good Grief. The movie, written and directed by Levy as well as starring him, tells the story of a man dealing with the loss of his husband, who takes his best friends to Paris, but perhaps doesn’t find the peace there he was looking for. The Good Grief trailer shows a compelling movie that anybody who has dealt with the loss of a loved one can understand.

Percy Jackson Episode 4 - January 2

The best Disney+ TV show in a long time continues into the new year with the series' fourth episode. Having now begun his quest for the Master Bolt with Grover and Annabeth, Percy continues to run from the forces trying to take him out, while also dealing with the repercussions that come from antagonizing the gods. The episode arrives at 6:00 PM Pacific time on Tuesday evening.  

X-Men - January 5

Based on the mid-credits scene of The Marvels and the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, it’s clear that the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe runs through past Marvel franchises, specifically the Fox X-Men series. The various films have dropped on and off the streaming service over the last couple of years, making it hard for Disney+ subscribers to even know what they can watch, but the original X-Men movie returns to the service this week, so if you haven’t seen it, or just haven’t seen it in a while, it’s likely worth checking out.

All Classic Star Trek Movies - January 1

Star Trek is part of Paramount, and so of course, Paramount+ is usually the place to find not just upcoming Star Trek TV shows but all the classic stuff as well. But if you’re a Trek fan who hasn’t pulled the trigger on that service, but you do have Max, you’ll be in good shape as all the Star Trek movies covering the Original Series and Next Generation era are set to come to max on New Year’s Day. 

Man With No Name Trilogy - January 1

If there’s a downside to streaming services, while they have so much available, a lot of them don’t have a great deal in their libraries that’s more than about 40 years old. Max, which covers the TCM library, is one of the exceptions. It’s always worth celebrating when some great classic movies become available to stream. All three of the Man With No Name movies, A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, hit Max on January first. Sounds like the perfect New Year’s Day marathon.

Reacher - Episode 6 - January 5

If you’re not watching Season 2 of Reacher I question what else you could possibly be doing that’s more worth your time. The new season has continued to be excellent and as the series moves towards its finale in just a couple of weeks the tension is increasing and the bone-shattering action only gets more satisfying.

There’s an important distinction that must be made when a talent like Daniel Levy credits themselves a certain way. Also known as Dan Levy, that moniker is more fitting for his comedic works like Schitt’s Creek. Whereas with his directorial debut in Good Grief, crediting himself as Daniel feels more fitting. A tale of bittersweet remembrance and complication, the emotional first trailer should prepare Netflix subscription holders to dive straight into their feelings. 

It looks impressive, and I’m already ready to bawl my eyes out thanks to Mr. Levy’s 2024 movie schedule offering. These feelings were inspired by the first look at this film, which came from the recent release of a trailer from Netflix. What we’re shown is Levy’s character Marc mourning the untimely loss of his husband Oliver (Luke Evans), and his efforts to gain closure in the aftermath. 

With his best friends, Sophie (Ruth Negga) and Thomas (Himesh Patel) by his side, Marc decides the three of them should take a trip to Paris, in the hopes of having fun. However, as we see in Good Grief’s footage above, that’s easier said than done, thanks to Marc facing some complicated truths about his marriage. And this in particular is what has me prepared for some massive ugly crying at the hands of Daniel Levy; a phenomenon I’m sure most of us aren’t strangers to in the slightest.

As if the Schitt’s Creek series finale didn’t already earn its spot as one of the highest-rated episodes of beloved TV series, “Happy Ending” moved us all to tears as David and Patrick (Noah Reid) tied the knot in such a beautiful ceremony of love. Plus, Mr. Levy’s monologue from Happiest Season, aka the moment “Dan” left Kristen Stewart awestruck, is still an all-time heartbreaker with an important lesson.  

Good Grief certainly isn’t shying away from giving that impression in its first look, as Daniel Levy’s co-stars Himesh Patel and Ruth Negga are also bringing their emotional A-games. Even the friendships that protagonist Marc is leaning on in his time of need seem to be complicated; which adds a beautiful dimension of reality that’s not always examined in films such as this. 

It was a given that Daniel Levy was going to either be breaking our hearts, cracking our funny bones, or both with his first directorial feature. While Levy’s initial Netflix deal announcement had indicated that a romantic comedy was going to be the first project in the works, that plan seems to have changed. Whether this was a clever bit of subterfuge, or an organic evolution of that initial pitch, I don’t care. I just know I’m ready to see Good Grief for its sorrowful, bittersweet beauty once it debuts. 

Good Grief premieres as part of everything new on Netflix, on January 5th, 2024; after starting its limited theatrical run on December 29th, 2023. Also, don’t forget to take a look at the library of 2023 additions to the Netflix movie schedule. There’s still plenty of excitement to be had in the closing weeks of this very year, and you wouldn’t want to miss anything. 

I have always appreciated when people follow in the footsteps of their famous parents. In fact, I think it is fun to see actors collaborate with their own children on-screen, of which there are more than enough examples. The following are 30 of our favorite movies and TV shows that proved to be a family affair for the stars involved.

Adam, Jackie, Sadie, And Sunny Sandler (You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah)

Not only did producer Adam Sandler star as the father of two girls played by his real daughters, Sadie and Sunny, in the You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah cast in 2023. The Netflix original coming-of-age dramedy also stars the comedian’s wife, Jackie, while Idina Menzel handled the role of Adam’s onscreen spouse.

Andie MacDowell And Margaret Qualley (MAID)

According to MAID developer Molly Smith Metzler, it was actually star Margaret Qualley who brought up the idea of casting her own mother, Andie MacDowell, as her character’s mother. The Golden Globe-nominated Four Weddings and Funeral star plays Paula (a woman with severe bipolar disorder) opposite the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood cast member in the Netflix original miniseries based on Stephanie Land’s memoir.

Angelina Jolie And Vivienne Jolie-Pitt (Maleficent)

Vivienne Jolie-Pitt gave her debut (and, so far, sole) onscreen acting performance opposite her mother, Angelina Jolie, in 2014’s Maleficent — a live-action reimagining of Sleeping Beauty from the villain’s perspective. According to Vanity Fair, the then-5-year-old got the part of a younger version of Elle Fanning’s character, Aurora, because other children were too afraid of the Academy Award winner in full makeup and costume in the title role.

Ben And Jerry Stiller And Anne Meara (Various)

Ben Stiller shared the screen with both of his late parents, legendary comedy duo Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, multiple times — the first being the 1989 mockumentary, That’s Adequate, followed by 1991 horror-comedy, Highway to Hell. Ben later played a sadistic fitness guru who purchases a youth weight loss camp from his parents’ characters in Disney’s 1995 summer comedy movie, Heavyweights, before casting them 2001’s Zoolander, with Jerry as Maury Ballstein and Meara cameoing as an egg-throwing protester.

Billy Ray, Miley, And Noah Cyrus (Doc, Hannah Montana)

Both Miley Cyrus and her sister, Noah, made their acting debuts on the medical drama, Doc, which was led by their musician father, Billy Ray Cyrus. Years later, the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer took a supporting role on Miley’s smash hit Disney Channel show, Hannah Montana, which Noah would also appear on in various unnamed roles.

Brendan, Domhnall, And Brian Gleeson (Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Part 1, Frank Of Ireland)

Brendan Gleeson reprised Mad-Eye Moody in the penultimate installment of the Harry Potter movies, which also starred his son, Domhnall, as Ron Weasley’s older brother, Bill, in 2010. More than a decade later, the Academy Award nominee starred opposite the Star Wars movies actor and his younger son, Brian, in an episode of their Amazon Prime comedy series, Frank of Ireland, as a new boyfriend of the title character’s mother.

Blythe Danner And Gwyneth Paltrow (Sylvia)

In 2003, Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow played the title role of a biopic about Sylvia Plath. To play the renowned writer and poet’s mother, Aurelia, Paltrow’s real-life mother, Tony and Emmy Award winner Blythe Danner was cast.

Chris, Tristan, And India Hemsworth (Thor: Love And Thunder)

After his older brother, Luke, portrayed his comic book character in a play in Thor: Ragnarok, Chris Hemsworth made 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder a real family affair. Not only would Luke return, but Chris’s son, Tristan, appeared as the title character’s younger self in a flashback and his daughter, India, played Gorr the God Butcher’s daughter, Love.

Clint And Scott Eastwood (Gran Torino, Trouble With The Curve)

The first time Clint Eastwood acted alongside his son, Scott, was in 2007’s Gran Torino for a scene in which — as the Suicide Squad star claimed to Conan O’Brien — his father threw a few unscripted insults toward his character. Five years later, Scott starred in the baseball movie Trouble with the Curve as a minor leaguer discovered by his father’s character.

Damon Wayans And Damon Wayans Jr. (Blankman, My Wife And Kids, Happy Together)

Daman Wayans Jr. debuted as the younger version of his father’s character — aspiring superhero, Kevin — in the funny ‘90s movie Blankman, before landing a recurring role on his sitcom, My Wife and Kids, and later inviting him to play his dad on his own sitcom, Happy Together. In early 2023, Deadline reported that the Wayans are developing a new sitcom that will pair them up as an on-screen father-son duo once again.

Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, And Rumer Willis (Various)

Rumer Willis’ first two acting gigs were alongside her mother, Demi Moore, as Angela Albertson in the underrated ‘90s movie, Now and Then, and as the daughter of Moore’s character in the classic stripper movie, Striptease. The actor and singer’s next two roles would be alongside her father, Bruce Willis, with an uncredited cameo in the 2000 comedy, The Whole Nine Yards, and as the daughter of Willis’ character in the 2005 thriller, Hostage.  

Donald And Kiefer Sutherland (A Time To Kill, Forsaken)

The first time Donald and Kiefer Sutherland appeared in a movie together — namely 1996’s A Time to Kill — Donald played a civil rights lawyer and Kiefer played a vicious white supremacist. Nearly two decades later, the father and son played a father and son in a western called Forsaken.

Eugene, Dan, And Sarah Levy (Schitt's Creek)

The Schitt’s Creek cast has more than two related actors in it. Eugene Levy and his son, Dan (who also created the hit sitcom together), play Johnny Rose and his son, David, and Dan’s sister, Sarah, also stars as Café Tropical owner, Twyla Sands.

George And Mayan Lopez (Lopez Vs. Lopez)

Comedian George Lopez teamed up with his daughter, Mayan, and Debby Wolfe to create the NBC sitcom, Lopez vs. Lopez. The series — which  was renewed for a second season, according to Variety — also stars George and Mayan as a father and daughter forced to reconnect after year when they have no choice but to move in together.

Henry And Jane Fonda (On Golden Pond)

The 1981 film adaptation of the acclaimed play On Golden Pond was a very special moment in Henry Fonda’s career. In addition to being his final performance, which earned him a Best Actor Oscar, it saw him share the screen with his real-life daughter, Jane, who played his estranged daughter.

Johnny And Lily-Rose Depp (Tusk, Yoga Hosers)

A nearly unrecognizable Johnny Depp plays Guy LaPointe in Kevin Smith’s bizarre A24 horror movie, 2014’s Tusk, which also stars his daughter, Lily-Rose, as a convenience store employee. When Smith made a spin-off in 2016 focusing on Lily-Rose and Harley Quinn Smith’s characters called Yoga Hosers, Depp reprised the French-Canadian P.I. as well.

As The Guardian recalls, the multi-talented Liza Minnelli was just three years old  when she made her acting debut with a brief cameo at the end of 1949’s In the Good Old Summertime, alongside her mother — the iconic Judy Garland. The Wizard of Oz star later invited her daughter to perform with her on her variety program, The Judy Garland Show, in the early 1960s.

Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez are celebrity siblings who have acted together multiple times, including once with their father, Martin Sheen, with small roles in Badlands. However, every other time the actors appeared alongside Martin was individually — with Charlie in Wall Street, Cadence, and Hot Shots, most notably, and with Estevez in In the Custody of Strangers and The Way.

Meryl Streep And Mamie Gummer (Heartburn, Evening, Ricki And The Flash)

When speaking to Jimmy Fallon, Mamie Gummer looked back on her acting debut as a toddler in the 1986 dramedy Heartburn, which was led by her mother, Academy Award winner Meryl Streep. More than twenty years later, Gummer played her mother’s younger self in the 2007 romantic drama, Evening, before playing her estranged daughter in 2015’s Ricki and the Flash.

Ralph And Julia Macchio (Cobra Kai)

Ralph Macchio’s daughter, Julia, has made a name for herself as an actor in movies like Girl Most Likely and shows like Showtime’s City on a Hill. She would share the screen with her father on a couple episodes of Netflix’s Karate Kid sequel series, Cobra Kai, as Daniel LaRusso’s cousin, Vanessa — a young, but highly skilled, child psychology grad student.

Ryan And Tatum O’Neal (Paper Moon)

According to Collider, the record for youngest Oscar winner is still held by Tatum O’Neal for her performance in 1973’s Paper Moon. Her character in the crime dramedy directed by the late Peter Bogdanovich is a precocious, Depression-era orphan who teams up with a con artist who could be her father, played the actor’s actual father, Ryan O’Neal.

Robin And Zelda Williams (In Search Of Dr. Seuss, Nine Months, House Of D)

Zelda Williams had her first taste of show business with her father -- Academy Award winner Robin Williams -- right beside her in the 1994 TV movie In Search of Dr. Seuss and the following year with her small role in the Hugh Grant-led rom-com, Nine Months. Her first starring role in a theatrically released film was in 2004’s House of D, which also marked the third and final time she acted alongside her late father.

Sean And Dylan Penn (Flag Day)

Sean Penn and Robin Wright’s daughter, Dylan Penn, got her start as a model before she took up acting. Her biggest role to date was as the unwitting daughter of a criminal played by Sean in 2021’s Flag Day, which the two-time Academy Award winner also directed.

Sylvester And Sage Stallone (Rocky V, Daylight)

In the Rocky movies’ fifth installment, Rocky Jr. was the debut role of star and director Sylvester Stallone’s real-life son, Sage, who would later appear with his dad in the ‘90s action movie,  Daylight. Sage went on to become the founder of Grindhouse Releasing — which prevented him from reprising his Rocky V role in Rocky Balboa — and, according to CNN, sadly passed away at 36 in 2012.

Thandiwe Newton And Nico Parker (Reminiscence)

Nico Parker — known for Disney’s live-action Dumbo remake and HBO’s The Last of Us cast — is the youngest daughter of actor Thandiwe Newton and filmmaker Ol Parker. However, in the 2021 futuristic noir, Reminiscence, she appeared alongside the Westworld star as a grandmother and granddaughter. 

Tom, Colin, Elizabeth, Chet, And Truman Hanks (Various)

Tom Hanks has shared the screen with all four of his children. He cast Colin Hanks in a small role in That Thing You Do! before appearing alongside him again in 2008’s The Great Buck Howard. Elizabeth Hanks was also in That Thing You Do!, but debuted in Forrest Gump. Chet Hanks has been in Larry Crowne and Greyhound and Truman Hanks normally does technical film work, but has appeared in three of his dad’s movies — News of the World, A Man Called Otto, and Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City.

Will, Jaden, And Willow Smith (The Pursuit Of Happyness, After Earth, I Am Legend)

Jaden Smith has played his father's onscreen son in two of Will Smith's movies — the first being his debut role in 2006’s The Pursuit of Happyness and the second in the M. Night Shyamalan movie, After Earth. Willow Smith also made her acting debut as her father’s daughter in a heartbreaking flashback sequence from 2007’s I Am Legend.

If you're familiar with some or all of these films, you may agree that much of these parent-child pairings demonstrate the magic that can come from family members working together on screen. 

2023 moviegoers have already been privy to a host of theatrical and streaming features boasting A+ ensembles, and there are certainly more on the way, but let’s go ahead and pencil in Barbie as having the most perfect cast from end to end. (Using only the pinkest of pencils, natch.) From Margot Robbie as the lead namesake to America Ferrera as a stressed-out Mattel employee to the gaggles of Barbies and Kens populating the fantasy world. It sounds like it was a dream for the record-breaking blockbuster’s casting directors, but they revealed quite a few unfortunate instances where their original choices for certain roles inevitably had to drop out of filming, such as SNL breakout Bowen Yang.

As difficult as it is to picture anyone else filling the on-screen roles that were brought to vibrant and magnetic life by co-stars such as Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa, Simu Liu and Scott Evans, there were indeed other actors in line to play various Kens alongside Ryan Gosling. Speaking with Vanity Fair, casting directors Lucy Bevan and Allison Jones discussed the frustration of COVID constraints requiring the cast to remain in London for the entire shoot, which meant that the following three actors were no longer available to potentially take part:

• Bowen Yang
• Dan Levy
• Ben Platt

That trio alone could have been a fabulous subsection of Kens who just sit around drinking — and you know they'd imbibe on classier potables than brewski-beers — while judging the rest of the Kens for being so oblivious. (My vote would be for The Other Two's Drew Tarver and Brandon Scott Jones to also join in.)

According to Allison Jones, the creative team weren't the only ones sad about the turn of events. As she put it:

It's indeed a bummer knowing what could have been. Not that it takes anything away from the Barbie that is now blowing box office predictions out of the water, but if there were ever a time for a Sliding Doors-style experiement...

The comedy's major casting swap-outs weren't only limited to just the Ken-tourage, either. Though Scott Pilgrim and Arrested Development vet Michael Cera was a low-key scene-stealer as the one-off Allan, he came into the role only after another big name had to bow out: Hamilton and Frozen star Jonathan Groff.  According to Allison Jones:

It's not clear if he was also unable to take part due to the filming restrictions, or other scheduling issues, but it's wild to think about how Allan would have come across with Groff in the role. Cera embraced the kind of affable, passive energy that he's known for, but I'd have to imagine Groff's version being slightly less of a wallflower. And the musical vet almost definitely would have earned at least one showstopping number, and still will in the fan-fic version of Barbie that I'll be scrawling into a stack of journals later.

So anyone who hasn't yet dressed up in pink for a theatrical Barbie experience needs to get on that, so that we can start up loud conversations about a sequel with Bowen Yang, Dan Levy, Ben Platt and Jonathan Groff jumping on board. 

It's been over three years since the series finale of Schitt’s Creek was everything we wanted, including David and Patrick getting married among a farewell to its hilarious cast. But some shows just feel as though they are going to be timeless and Schitt’s Creek is definitely one of them. As 2023’s Pride Month comes to a close, a sweet moment of the sitcom’s cast discussing the power of queer representation in the show going viral on TikTok has us wanting to rewatch the series (again). 

CBC Television, the Canadian network that aired the series from 2015 to 2020, took to TikTok to share this clip of Dan Levy, Emily Hampshire, and more of the cast talking about the series' impact on the LGBTQ+ community. Check it: 

It’s a clip from Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt's Creek Farewell, a 40-minute special that was released on the heels of the series ending. The TikTok post has earned nearly three million views and reminded fans of the impact the series had and continues to have on pop culture and society, notably with Dan Levy reflecting on how writing truthfully to the characters began for him as the show’s co-creator and star. In his words: 

Levy also spoke to the “wine metaphor” from the series that he totally didn’t expect to actually inspire actual people to use when coming out in their own lives. In the memorable moment between David and Stevie, he defines his pansexuality by sharing that “I like the wine and not the label.” In the clip itself, Levy is wearing those words on his shirt while walking in a Pride Parade amongst adoring fans from the LGBTQ+ community. 

The comment section for the TikTok was overloaded with love, with one person echoing a comment that the series helped “create a better world than the one we live in” while so many more spoke to the series' efforts to highlight queer joy rather than suffering. The clip had tons of fans convinced that it's time for them to rewatch the show, while others chimed in about how the wine metaphor is used in their own lives when describing their sexualities. 

Schitt’s Creek is currently streaming with a Hulu subscription. The cast has been seriously busy as of late, between Levy being on The Idol, Catherine O’Hara in Pixar’s Elemental, and Annie Murphy in the latest season of Black Mirror and the new Dreamworks movie Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, now in theaters. Pride Month may be over, but may the community continue to celebrate all year long! 

After what seems like years of headlines, revealing and expansive profiles about the ups and downs of the show’s production, and major on-set shakeups, HBO’s highly-anticipated The Idol has finally premiered. The new drama series tells a story of fame, excess, and identity with its saga about Lily-Rose Depp’s aspiring pop star and her complicated relationship with a self-help guru played by Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, who also co-created the new series.

So, if you watched the show as it debuted, or plan on catching it later with your Max subscription, there’s a good chance you’re wondering where you’ve seen The Idol cast before. Well, we’re about to break down all the major players in this much talked about new arrival. 

Lily-Rose Depp (Jocelyn)

Lily-Rose Depp sits atop The Idol cast as Jocelyn, an up-and-coming pop star whose rise in fame and popularity is at the center of the show’s complex narrative.

The daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, the young actress and model makes her TV debut with The Idol, though she has appeared in several high-profile film projects over the past few years. This includes roles in The Dancer, The King, Voyagers, and Silent Night. 

Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye (Tedros)

Abel Tesfaye, better known by his stage name, The Weeknd, co-leads The Idol cast as Tedros, a self-help guru who acts more like a cult leader than anything else.

Outside of his successful music career, which has led to the “Blinding Lights” singer performing at the Super Bowl, Coachella, and some of the biggest stadiums around the world, Tesfay has also made several film and TV appearances. This most notably includes a brief yet unforgettable cameo in Uncut Gems. 

Troye Sivan (Xander)

Next up is Troye Sivan, who appears as Xander, Jocelyn’s creative director and confidante.

If you recently watched X-Men Origins: Wolverine, then you’ll most likely recognize Sivan from his portrayal of a young James Howlet, a.k.a., Logan, from the 2009 Marvel movie. Since then, the singer and actor has appeared in movies like Boy Erased and Three Months. He has also made small-screen appearances on shows like Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and multiple others. 

Da’Vine Joy Randolph 

Da’Vine Joy Randolph appears as Destiny, one of Jocelyn’s managers.

There are plenty of reasons why Randolph looks so familiar, and that’s because she’s appeared in movies like Dolemite Is My Name, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, The Lost City, and On the Come Up, to name a few. Her TV credits include turns on This Is Us, Empire, High Fidelity, People of Earth, Madagascar: A Little Wild, and most recently, Only Murders in the Building, in which she plays Detective Williams. 

Jennie Ruby Jane (Dyanne)

Jennie Ruby Jane stars as Dyanne, one of Jocelyn’s backup dancers who joins her on her rise to fame.

If you’re a fan of K-pop, you should be awfully familiar with Jane, as she is a member of the incredibly successful girl group Blackpink, in which she performs mononymously as Jennie. And, though she appeared on the 2018 Korean reality program Village Survival, the Eight, Jane is making her acting debut with her performance on The Idol. 

Suzanna Son (Chloe)

Suzanna Son shows up on The Idol as Chloe, one of Tedros’ many followers in the Los Angeles area.

Prior to joining The Idol cast, Son made a name for herself in the 2021 indie film, Red Rocket. 

Moses Sumney (Izaak)

Moses Sumney takes on the role of Izaak, another one of Tedros’ followers.

Like several other members of the show’s cast, The Idol is Sumney’s first acting gig. However, he’s had a rather successful music career the past decade, releasing multiple studio albums and making appearances with the likes of Tessa Thompson, Andrew Bird, Bon Iver, and Beck, to name a few. 

Jane Adams (Nikki)

Jane Adams portrays Nikki, an executive at Jocelyn’s record label.

One of the most established stars in the cast, Adams has made dozens of film and TV appearances throughout her career, including Happiness, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, Hung, Easy, and most recently, the Max original series, Hacks. Fans of You’ve Got Mail will also probably recognize Adams from her small part as Sydney Anne, the talk show host who flirts with Greg Kinnear’s character. 

Hank Azaria (Chaim)

Hank Azaria pops up as Chaim, another one of Jocelyn’s managers.

Probably best known for voicing countless iconic characters on The Simpsons, Azaria has also had a legendary career in a live-action capacity, as well. Over the years, he’s appeared in movies like Grosse Pointe Blank, The Birdcage, Heat, Mystery Men, Year One, and multiple others. His TV work is just as impressive with shows like Mad About You, Huff, Ray Donovan, Life & Beth, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel under his belt. 

Hari Nef (Talia)

Hari Nef plays Talia, a reporter covering Jocelyn’s story.

Prior to landing a role on the new HBO show, Nef made a name for herself on the Amazon original series, Transparent, which she followed up with roles on You, Camping, And Just Like That…, and most recently, Extrapolations. Nef is also set to appear in the upcoming Barbie movie. 

Rachel Sennott (Leia)

Next up is Rachel Sennott, who takes on the role of Leia, Jocelyn’s best friend and trusty assistant.

Since giving her breakout performance in the 2020 dramedy, Shiva Baby, Sennott has continued to rise through the ranks of young Hollywood. In recent years, she’s appeared in everything from movies like Bodies Bodies Bodies and shows like Call Your Mother, with more on the way.  

Dan Levy

Multi-Primetime Emmy Award winner Dan Levy also appears on the series. The son of Canadian comedy legend Eugene Levy is best known for his turn as David Rose on Schitt’s Creek, though he does have numerous other credits to his name. Movies like Happiest Season, Admission, and Stage Fright have all given Levy time to show his comedy chops. He’s also slated to be in the upcoming Haunted Mansion movie later this summer.

Eli Roth

Horror director Eli Roth also appears, in his latest in a long line of acting gigs. In addition to directing movies like Cabin Fever, Hostel, Knock Knock, and The Green Inferno, Roth has shown off his acting chops in everything from Inglorious Basterds to The House with a Clock in Its Walls.

Ramsey

Ramsey joins the long list of The Idol cast members making their acting debut on the new show, as all of her work prior to the series’ debut has been in the world of music. Her track “Love Surrounds You” appeared during the first season of Euphoria.

Mike Dean

And then there is record producer Mike Dean, who makes his acting debut on The Idol. Prior to joining the show’s expansive cast, he made a name for himself working on seminal hip hop albums like Kayne West’s The College Dropout, Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, and Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne. He’s also worked on Beyoncé’s Lemonade, Frank Ocean’s Blonde, and countless others.

For those who don’t know me, I’m a pretty big fan of food shows, and have been for some time. Whether that be because of my love for cooking, or my passion for cooking movies like Ratatouille, or even 2014’s Chef, cooking has always been something I’ve been drawn to for a long time. And cooking competition shows fall within that realm of me loving to watch people cook. I have seen it all. 

There’s something about The Big Brunch that stands out to me, and I need more people to understand how amazing this show truly is. Released on HBO Max as an original series, this is a cooking competition show where several cooks compete to win the ultimate prize of $300,000 in order to make their dreams come true, often through brunch-centric meals. Today, I’m going to tell you my reasons why The Big Brunch Season 2 needs to happen. 

First Off, Dan Levy Is Awesome As A Host 

I’m usually one who couldn't care less about who hosts a cooking competition show. I’m not there for them, I’m there for the good food and the stories behind the chefs – and sometimes, the ridiculous trials that they go through. The only hosts on past shows I’ve really connected to were Gordon Ramsay (of course), and Nicole Byer from Nailed It, because she’s hilarious. 

But, Dan Levy as a cooking competition host is a genre of television I didn’t know I needed until I saw it. 

Levy has such good chemistry with the camera. His presence pulls you in from the moment you see him because he’s just so naturally funny. We could see that clearly with his time in the Schitt’s Creek cast. However, him as a host is even better, because we really get to see his natural ability as not only a comedian, but a judge of character. 

He talks to every contestant one on one and is unashamedly himself, and that’s something I can get behind in a host. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have checked out this show in the first place, so he deserves all the praise. 

The Other Judges Provide Some Valuable Insight – And Aren’t Just Rude

Look, I’ll be the first to say that sometimes, when judges on other cooking competitions are rude, it makes for some good television. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve laughed out loud because of some of the things the judges have said on MasterChef. Sometimes, though, I don’t need rudeness – I just need someone who can offer insight. 

And that’s what I see with the judges on The Big Brunch. Besides Levy – who is really just there to enjoy some good food – there are two other judges who help him determine who wins and who loses: Sohla El-Waylly, a chef and former editor for Bon Appetit, and Will Guidara, a James Beard award winner and a restauranteur. 

They’re never rude with the contestants. Sure, they most certainly give constructive criticism, but never once do I see a hint of anger or rudeness or any of that. It’s refreshing to have two judges where all they really want to do is help and not be obscenely mean. 

The Chemistry Between Not Only The Contestants, But The Judges, Is Infectious

I think what draws a lot of people into cooking competition shows sometimes is the reality aspect. While most aren’t like that – such as Bake Squad or even MasterChef, there are others that feature the reality aspect of contestants actively pushing against one another and talking crap about each other – such as the craziest moments in Hell’s Kitchen, or maybe even the latest hit on Netflix, Pressure Cooker. 

However, The Big Brunch shows the real side of these cooking competitions. It demonstrates actual competitors, rather than roommates who are actively going against one another to take the other down. Everyone that comes to this competition is full of hope and they help each other succeed rather than push each other back. 

Even from the first episode, the other contestants help each other out with bringing their dishes up to the table to be judged, giving them the right kind of tools to use – it’s all love, and you see that instantly. 

Even the judges are great with each other. Sometimes it feels like judges are just there to get a paycheck, barely speaking to each other at all, but it honestly felt like Levy and his co-judges were friends out for a nice little brunch in the middle of the day. It made it so much more entertaining. 

The Prize Is One Of The Best I’ve Seen

This is almost a little superficial of me to say, but the prize money in this show is crazy. 

I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve seen a cooking competition show give a cash prize of $300,000. On other shows you might get a restaurant that comes with your monetary prize, or the chance to publish a cookbook, but the actual cash itself is so much money, and I can’t recall another show that has done that. 

And truly, you can do a lot with that money. In other cooking shows, I’ve seen lower prizes like $10,000 and in reality, while winning that is great, there isn’t a lot you can do with that long term in the restaurant industry since running a restaurant is so expensive. This is such a generous prize. 

It Really Digs Deep Into The Roots Of The Competitors 

There have been few reality cooking shows in the past where I have truly remembered people’s names. Half the time I just watch the actual cooking, but sometimes I remember certain personalities, such as Mary-Lou from Season 19 of Hell’s Kitchen, or Nick DiGiovanni from Season 10 of MasterChef. 

However, The Big Brunch really goes out of its way to make you care about every single person you are watching. It gives the time for each person to share their story and really dig deep into who they are as a person outside of cooking, and why they need this prize money so badly. 

Not only that, but it really gives you insight into their background and how it influences their cooking, whether that be a certain culture or a specific neighborhood – it’s delightful to see. 

It’s Not Edited Like Most Cooking Competition Shows Are

My favorite part about The Big Brunch is that while it is a cooking competition show, it doesn’t feel like one. Yes, there is judging, people get eliminated, and there is a sole winner, but at the end of the day, it feels like I’m watching friends cook, rather than contestants, and it’s because of the editing. 

Whoever did the editing for this series needs a raise because it made me want to continue watching it. No intense music, no ridiculous sound effects, no quick shots – just pure cooking. I loved that. While I understand the appeal behind the other editing style – as I have watched shows like that, too – it was refreshing to see something like this streaming, and I hope the style gets carried over to cable reality TV, as well. Just let people be. We don’t need crazy edits. 

Cooking has gotten popular over the last few years, with both cooking and baking TV shows exploding, as well as cooking YouTube channels, but sometimes, you just need something a little more laid back – and this is the answer. Check out The Big Brunch if you haven’t yet.

Not only is Haunted Mansion one of the biggest upcoming 2023 movies, but this year marks a major anniversary for it. To be clear, I am NOT referring to the popular attraction at Disneyland or Walt Disney World, but the first movie based on that ride – from director Rob Minkoff and starring Eddie Murphy – which was released 20 years ago.

Disney has been hit and miss when it comes to turning theme park attractions into movies but the original Haunted Mansion movie, despite having a lot more going for it than you might remember, is seen as one of the misses. But the ride is still popular, and following the success of Jungle Cruise, Disney has assembled an impressive ensemble for the new Haunted Mansion cast to make it a hit with the public. See what foolish mortals are getting spooky – as classic characters and new ones alike – in director Justin Simien’s new cinematic take on the freaky favorite.

Rosario Dawson (Gabbie)

Leading the impressive cast of Haunted Mansion as Gabbie –  a single mother, doctor, and new owner of the “strangely affordable” New Orleans mansion – we have Rosario Dawson, whose relationship with Disney dates back to her role on Star Wars TV show, The Mandalorian, as Ahsoka Tano, which she is reprising in her own upcoming, self-titled series on Disney+. The actor broke into Hollywood as a teen with her underrated performance in Kids before becoming a “Geek Goddess” by playing multiple comic book characters like Wonder Woman in some DC animated movies, nurse Claire Temple in Daredevil and other MCU-canon shows, and, eventually, narrating Max’s new DC docuseries, Superpowered: The DC Story. Also recently, she received acclaim for her performance in Hulu’s Dopesick cast, reprised her Kevin Smith movies role in Clerks III, and – according to Variety – is lending her voice to an upcoming interactive animated adventure series called Ghosts of Ruin.

Owen Wilson (Father Kent)

If The Exorcist taught us anything, it’s that when you’re dealing with otherworldly beings, call a priest. In Haunted Mansion, that priest will be played by Owen Wilson, who also has previous ties to Disney as the voice of Lightning McQueen in the Cars franchise and playing Time Variance Authority officer, Mobius, in the MCU. The actor – who has an Oscar nomination for co-writing one of the best Wes Anderson movies, The Royal Tenenbaums – also made his debut under Anderson’s direction (one of many times) in 1994’s Bottle Rocket, before going on to an eclectic career involving a few blockbusters like Armageddon, many classic comedies like Meet the Parents and Wedding Crashers, and films that combine drama with comedy fair like Midnight in Paris and the more recent Paint, in which he plays a Bob Ross-like character hosting a public TV art show.

Lakeith Stanfield (Ben Matthias)

Widowed scientist-turned-failed paranormal expert, Ben, will be played by Dawson’s Sorry to Bother You co-star and one of the first people cast in Haunted Mansion, Lakieth Stanfield. After making his debut in the acclaimed 2013 drama Short Term 12, the actor, went on to star on one of the funniest shows on Hulu, FX’s Atlanta, play a memorable role in Jordan Peele’s directorial debut, Get Out, and earn an Oscar nomination for Judas and the Black Messiah, among so many other highlights. Next in the pipeline for Stanfield is an Apple TV+ original sci-fi series called The Changeling and a biblical epic coming out in 2024 called The Book of Clarence.

Tiffany Haddish (Harriet)

Playing a psychic named Harriet, we have Stanfield’s co-star from Jay-Z’s “Moonlight” video, Emmy winner Tiffany Haddish, who has also worked with Jordan Peele to great effect in 2016’s Keanu, in addition to her many great scene-stealing and lead roles in comedies like Girls Trip and The Oath. She has also tried her hand at drama in the likes of The Kitchen and The Card Counter, and a mix of both with movies like Here Today and TV shows like The Afterparty as Detective Danner, whom she is reprising for Season 2 on Apple TV+. She is also known for lending her voice talents to many notable roles, such as Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part and Netflix original-turned-Adult Swim series, Tuca and Bertie as Tuca.

Danny DeVito (Bruce)

As a “crotchety” college history professor named Bruce – according to D23.com – is an actor more than capable of embodying the concept of “crochety”: Danny DeVito, whose own previous Disney credits include Dumbo (which also reunited him with his Batman Returns co-star, Michael Keaton, and director, Tim Burton) and the One and Only Ivan voice cast in 2020. Years earlier, he was best-known for his Emmy-winning role on Taxi and movies like Throw Momma From the Train, The War of the Roses, and Matilda (all of which he also directed), but the Academy Award nominee (for co-producing Erin Brockovich) has a special fanbase these days that know him as Frank from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Also this year, he lends his voice to Migration and will soon star alongside Chris Pine in his directorial debut, Poolman.

Chase Dillon (Travis)

Rounding out the key cast members as Gabbie’s son, Travis, is Stanfield’s The Book of Clarence co-star, Chase Dillon, who makes his theatrically released filmed debut with Haunted Mansion, as his only other film role was the Netflix original western, The Harder They Fall, in 2021. The young actor has appeared in several TV projects – including his debut on BET’s series reboot of First Wives Club; the Max original sketch comedy, That Damn Michael Che, as the SNL star’s younger self; one of the best Amazon Prime original series, The Underground Railroad; and Apple TV+’s animated series, Pinecone & Pony.

Jared Leto (The Hatbox Ghost)

It wouldn’t be much of a Haunted Mansion movie without some direct references to the popular attraction, and the new film has found some big names to take on some key roles, such as Jared Leto as the Hatbox Ghost, according to EW. The Academy Award winner (for 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club) last played a creepy creature in his Marvel movie debut, 2022’s Morbius, (six years after his DC movie debut as the Joker in Suicide Squad) but has a more longer history with horror, having starred in the 1998 slasher Urban Legend, a memorable scene from American Psycho, and the extremely disturbing thriller, Requiem for a Dream. From his breakout performance as Jordan Catalano on My So-Called Life to his lead role in the upcoming Tron sequel, Ares, the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman has led a pretty eclectic career.

Jamie Lee Curtis (Madame Leota)

Succeeding Jennifer Tilly in the role of the iconic Madame Leota – the head inside the floating crystal ball – is, arguably, the all-time best Scream Queen, Jamie Lee Curtis. Of course, in addition to being the face of the Halloween movies not named Michael Myers and starring in plenty of other great horror movies, the daughter of Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh has a couple of other Disney movies on her resume – namely Freaky Friday and Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Curtis – who recently won Best Supporting Actress for Everything Everywhere All At Once – will also soon appear in the film adaptation of the Borderlands video game. 

Winona Ryder (Pat)

As a teaser for Haunted Mansion reveals, Winona Ryder is making a cameo as a tour guide named Pat – only her latest role in a long line of creepy credits. After breaking out in the Beetlejuice cast as Lydia (whom she is reprising in the upcoming sequel), she led the dark teen movie, Heathers; starred in a some more classic Tim Burton movies (such as Edward Scissorhands); and played Mina Murray in Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula adaptation. Of course, the two-time Academy Award nominee (for Little Women and The Age of Innocence) is also expected to return for Stranger Things Season 5 as Joyce Byers.

Dan Levy (Vic)

Along with Ryder, another actor revealed to be joining Haunted Mansion at D23 Expo in a small, unconfirmed role is Dan Levy, who is best known from the Schitt’s Creek cast as David Rose. The son of his co-star and co-creator, Eugene Levy, first got into acting with a small role on Degrassi: The Next Generation and more recently appeared in Hulu’s Happiest Season cast, lent his voice to Netflix’s Q-Force, and was on an episode of The Idol for HBO. He also created and judges a reality cooking competition for Max called The Brunch. 

Hasan Minhaj (Sketch Artist)

Appearing as a police sketch artist whom Ben and Bruce enlist to identify a ghostly encounter, we have Hasan Minhaj – formerly of The Daily Show and Netflix’s Patriot Act. Some of his most notable acting credits include two of Kate McKinnon’s best movies (Rough Night and The Spy Who Dumped Me), and Jennifer Lawrence-led 2023 comedy, No Hard Feelings, more recently. The comedian also has a couple great Netflix original stand-up specials called Homecoming King and The King’s Jester.

There are plenty more other grim, grinning ghosts to behold, in addition to star-studded Haunted Mansion cast. Any volunteers to see the new film when it hits theaters Friday, July 28th?

It may be hard to believe, but it’s been over two years since Schitt’s Creek closed out the stories of its main characters after 80 episodes. Some stars from the show like Emily Hampshire have already found other roles and, now, fan-favorite actor Dan Levy has scored his first big TV role since saying goodbye to David Rose. And like so many before him, the star is heading to Netflix.

Dan Levy is joining the cast of Netflix’s popular series Sex Education for its highly-anticipated fourth season. The streamer made the announcement on Twitter, not only revealing to fans that Season 4 in production but that Levy has been cast as Mr. Molloy. See the post for yourself down below:

While the 39-year-old actor is sure to be a delightful addition to the cast, it's honestly a little strange to not see him in his David Rose getup, but he's still looking good. As of right now, there are no specific details on how  Mr. Molloy will play into the proceedings though, based on who's been cast to play him, he'll surely have a major presence at Moordale Secondary School. I do wonder if the teacher will at least have any of David's quirks. Though for the actor's sake, let's hope Molloy doesn't have any catchphrases that are as famous as the ones on Schitt’s Creek. 

In 2021, Dan Levy signed a creative partnership deal with Netflix that went into effect last month. The actor, writer and director was definitely a major pick-up for the streaming platform, and it's a somewhat fitting match. Even now, his beloved series, Schitt's Creek, is still widely popular and definitely one of the best shows to binge on Netflix.

At this point, fans are probably eager for new episodes of Laurie Nunn's acclaimed coming-of-age series, especially following the cliffhanger featured in Sex Education's Season 3 finale. The episode was filled with notable developments, including Eric and Adam's breakup and the sale of Moordale. And let's not forget that the season also ended with Maeve making her way to the United States. So there's definitely a lot that needs to be resolved.

It's exciting to think that the teen dramedy only marks the beginning of Dan Levy’s Netflix career, and I'm excited to see what he does with the company moving forward. Hopefully, we'll get more info on his new character and the upcoming storylines relatively soon.

What’s even better is when you find an actor behind the character who is also a part of that community and shines in that role. That’s what we aim to talk about today.

There are so many actors we could point to in both movies and TV, from Owen Thiele in Adults, to some amazing films of the last few years, such as All of Us Are Strangers, Bombshell, and more. Let’s talk about some incredible performances of LGBTQ+ characters from the LGBTQ+ community in honor of Pride Month.

All Of Us Strangers – Andrew Scott As Adam

All Of Us Are Strangers released in late 2023 to rave reviews and while I personally don’t think it got nearly as much hype as it should have, the one thing I will comment on is Andrew Scott. While the LGBTQ+ actor has taken on roles such as this before, there’s just something so raw and real about his portrayal of Adam.

The story follows a lonely screenwriter who begins a romance with his mysterious neighbor while also experiencing a strange instance where he is able to see his parents again – the movie itself certainly feels like there’s a small layer of fantasy, but the themes itself make this film that much better, including the lovely portrayal from Scott, who has talked about beinga part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Love, Simon - Keiynan Lonsdale As Bram Greenfeld

Released in 2018, Love, Simon is a story about a closeted gay young adult who struggles to balance his life amongst the blackmailer that is threatening to out him at school – while also trying to identify the anonymous classmate that he has fallen in love with. The film became so popular that a Hulu spinoff, titled Love, Victor, premiered not that long after, but was canceled after Season 3

In Love, Simon, Keiynan Lonsdale portrays Bram Greenfeld, one of Simon’s classmates and an openly gay student, and Keiynan himself came out in 2017. The film made strides for having a gay protagonist, becoming one of the first mainstream film to showcase a gay teen romance.

Adults – Owen Theile As Anton

Hailing from FX on Hulu, Adults is a series about a group of twenty-somethings literally just trying to survive daily life in New York City and going through the motions of becoming a functioning adult. One character in it that I absolutely love is Anton, who is played by the fabulous Owen Theile.

While Thiele has appeared in various shows beforehand, 2025 has really shown just how talented he is with both lead roles in Adults and Overcompensating (but I kind of like Adults just a smidge more). Anton is a hilarious character, and Owen Thiele rocks it. Thiele is a part of the LGBTQ+ community, and has even called for action to demand equal rights by donating to several charities (via Instagram).

Rustin – Colman Domingo As Bayard Rustin 

Rustin itself was more of an under-the-radar critical darling of 2023, as it was one of CinemaBlend’s best movies of 2023, but you want to know what wasn’t? Colman Domingo’s performance as Bayard Rustin. It follows the story of the real-life civil rights activist who worked with MLK Jr. to organize the iconic 1963 March on Washington for equal rights in America.

Colman Domingo shines in his portrayal of Bayard Rustin, and his performance was so critically acclaimed that he earned an Academy Award nomination. Colman Domingo has become a much bigger name the last few years with many of the roles he had portrayed, and he even spoke in an interview with Advocate in 2021 that he hopes he’s breaking new ground for young Black gay men in Hollywood:

Bombshell - Kate McKinnon As Jess Carr

Moving into the drama genre, we take a look at Kate McKinnon in Bombshell. You might recognize her name from her amazing performances on the classic late night television show Saturday Night Live, which she left in 2022, or maybe even from comedy movies such as the 2016 Ghostbusters or Office Christmas Party. But Kate McKinnon has an amazing range as an actress, and she showed that off when playing Jess Carr as part of the Bombshell cast.

While her character was fictional (set within a film that was based on true events), her role as the Fox News employee Jess Carr was impactful, and showed what it might be like for a closeted lesbian who works in a primarily conservative news space.

Yellowjackets – Liv Hewson as Vanessa Palmer

While Liv Hewson has been around in the TV world for a while, I absolutely love them as teenage Vanessa Palmer in the hit Showtime series, Yellowjackets. Vanessa is a character that had both stakes in the flashbacks of the world as well as modern-day, and her story of resilience is one that I truly love.

Hewson in real life identifies as non-binary, and uses they/them pronouns, according to Teen Vogue. The actor says that they have “never been happier” since they received gender-affirming surgery:

The Normal Heart - Jim Parsons As Tommy Boatwright

Since starring as Shelden Cooper on The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons continues to take on new and exciting roles in both film and television. Everyone knows who he is and how often he has spoken about his sexuality. That’s why his portrayal of Tommy Boatwright in The Normal Heart felt even more compelling than any other role he has done, at least in my opinion.

The Normal Heart, based on the Larry Kramer 1985 play of the same name, depicts the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City during the early eighties, and Parsons plays a gay activist fighting to address the issue. Parsons is a talented actor, so it’s no surprise that he absolutely rocked this role. The film gives interesting insights into what happened back in the eighties and the struggles that activists had to face every single day.

Everything Everywhere All At Once – Stephanie Hsu As Joy Wang

I think out of all the movies that released in 2022, Everything Everywhere All At Once was the one that touched fans’ hearts the most, even if some of it was just straight-up weird. However, the film tells a beautiful story of love, family, and acceptance of one's faults, mainly led by two fantastic performances from both Michelle Yeoh and Stephanie Hsu.

Hsu portrayed Joy Wang, the daughter of Evelyn Quan Wang and one of the primary characters of the movie. Joy has a girlfriend in the movie, but Hsu also identifies as queer in real-life, according to The Eagle Online.

Harlem – Jerrie Johnson as Tye Reynolds

Harlem is a great TV show, one I would recommend to anyone, and a great character in it is Tye Reynolds, whose stories in the show are always some of the best. Reynolds is a hilarious character, but the actor behind the screen is even better.

Jerrie Johnson is a part of the LGBTQ+ community and got engaged to their girlfriend, and their wedding dresses were even featured in the New York Times (via Instagram) in April 2025!

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Tituss Burgess As Titus Andromedon 

Few have truly made me laugh out loud as Titus Andromedon on the classic Netflix series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. This show, which primarily followed a young woman learning to adapt to normal every-day life after spending more than a decade locked below ground by a reverend, has always brought the laughs and provided some hilarious inside jokes, usually because of Titus Andromedon. He’s sassy, talented, and the best gay friend that we all need in our lives that will be blunt with you no matter what.

Tituss Burgess has been active in television for some time, including guest spots on 30 Rock, performing in musicals like Annie, and more, but nothing has quite come close to the hilarious nature of Titus Andromedon and the impact he made on television as a whole. Truly, there is no one like him.

I Saw The TV Glow – Justice Smith As Owen

I Saw The TV Glow released in 2024 by A24, and while it certainly wasn’t a huge hit at the box office, it’s slowly picking up steam on the internet, mainly due to Justice Smith’s amazing role of Owen. The film tells the story of two friends whose lives begin to spiral when their favorite show is cancelled – because honestly, same.

Jokes aside, Smith’s performance of Owen is gutting and cuts straight to the core, without spoiling anything, and if you want an excellent psychological horror-drama, this is the film for you. Justice Smith came out in 2020 as a queer person, and ever since then he’s advocated for the support of Black queer and trans lives.

Portrait Of A Lady On Fire - Adele Haenel As Heloise

Released in 2019, Portrait of a Lady on Fire follows Adele Haenel portrayed Heloise, a young 19th-century lesbian who fiercely opposes the arranged marriage set up for her, but later has a romance with a woman who was commissioned to paint her wedding portrait.

Adele Haenel publicly came out back in 2014 when she won a Cesar Award, and has since been very open about who she is. The film portrays what it’s like to have that kind of romance that changes you for the rest of your life, and that it doesn’t matter what gender that you are – love is love, and when you meet that one person that can change you, it sticks with you until the end.

Bodies, Bodies, Bodies – Amandla Stenberg As Sophie

Hands down, Bodies, Bodies, Bodies is one of the best horror movies from A24, and tells a hilariously horrific story of a group of young adults who are staying in a mansion and play a murder-game that actually turns real, and soon it’s a whodunit as they try and stay alive. Amandla Stenberg plays Sophie, the main character, and while her queerness isn’t the main plotline of the film, it certainly plays an important role.

In 2016, Amandla Stenberg came out as bisexual, but she also said that “pansexual” was a good term to describe her as well, according to Elle. The actress has appeared in a variety of roles since then, but personally, I don’t think any of them have come as close as the craziness that is Bodies, Bodies, Bodies.

Looking - Jonathan Groff As Patrick Murray

Jonathon Groff has an impressive resume for plenty of people to admire. From voicing Kristoff as part of the Frozen and Frozen II cast to portraying the king in Hamilton, he’s been around the block plenty of times, showing off his amazing acting and singing skills. But one show that you may or may not remember him from was in the HBO series Looking, where he portrayed Patrick Murray.

The series follows the story of three gay men living in San Francisco, and their lives and friendships. The series went on for two seasons, which were followed by a feature-length film in 2016. Looking may have only lasted for a short amount of time, but its impact on television is felt all the same. In an interview with the New York Times, Groff talked about the significance of the show. When asked how he'd feel if he were able to watch the show as a teenager, he said:

Bottoms – Ayo Edebiri As Josie 

Bottoms was the queer comedy of 2023 in my eyes. The movie tells the story of two teenagers in high school who start a female-only fight club in order to have sex with cheerleaders. Yes, this sounds exactly like a 2000s teen comedy and yes, it’s just as funny as you can expect it to be, especially with two leads like Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri as part of the Bottoms cast.

While Ayo Edibiri’s best roles include plenty of other shows and movies, like The Bear or Big Mouth, I freaking love her in Bottoms as Josie because she perfectly exemplifies what it’s like to be a young LGBTQ+ person in high school who is just trying to survive and be somehow cool. Even Ayo Edebiri said in an interview with Refinery 29 in September 2023 that it’s “radical” she gets to be a young Black queer person and do the crazy stuff she’s done in a movie in Hollywood nowadays.

Glee - Chris Colfer As Kurt Hummel

Glee, when it released, was an iconic show, becoming a huge hit for Fox. The series was all about misfits coming together in a high school glee club in order to find companionship when it felt there was no one there for them, and one of those characters that stuck around from the very first season was Kurt Hummel, a closeted gay student (at first) at William McKinley High School.

Chris Colfer played the character, and over time, Kurt became more sure of himself not only as a gay man but as a voice for his community, and showing that just because someone might not like your sparkle, that doesn’t mean you need to dim it for anyone else. His voice was always unique and made for some amazing covers. The Glee cast was so talented in so many ways, but Colfer stood out amongst the rest.

The Last Of Us – Bella Ramsey As Ellie

As someone who grew up playing The Last of Us, Ellie was a bit of a gay icon for me. She was a lead character (in a HUGE video game) that was openly lesbian and as someone who was struggling with her own bisexuality at the time, it was freaking fantastic to see the representation on screen. That’s why when I discovered that the young person also playing Ellie, Bella Ramsey, was non-binary in real-life, I knew it would be a perfect fit.

I just knew they would understand how Ellie was portrayed, and my favorite video game character suddenly turned into my favorite TV character. Ramsey is known for their portrayal of Lyanna Mormont as well as in the Game of Thrones cast, but her role in The Last of Us Season 2 has been a game-changer.

Hearts Beat Loud - Kiersey Clemons As Sam Fisher

Kiersey Clemons has had some awesome roles in the past, from her breakout role as a teen lesbian in the 2015 comedy-drama Dope to her role in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, or even her more recent role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. However, one of her best roles from the films I have seen has to be Hearts Beat Loud, the musical comedy, where she stars as Sam Fisher.

Hearts Beat Loud is all about Sam Fisher and her father, played by Nick Offerman, who is a record store owner and tries to convince her to start a band with him after a song they recorded went viral. The story not only has some great music but captures what it’s like as a young gay teenager to try and develop a true relationship with their family when some of them don’t quite understand what you’re going through. It’s definitely one of the underrated picks on this list and deserves so much more praise.

Jennifer’s Body - Megan Fox As Jennifer

In Jennifer’s Body, the titular character, characterized as bisexual, is possessed by a demon, who goes on a rampage in school to fill its need for human flesh, whether that be boys or girls.

Megan Fox herself is bisexual, telling Esquire back in 2011 about her thoughts about her sexuality.

After seeing her star in several films for her beauty and talent as an actress, it’s empowering to hear Megan Fox speak so openly about who she is, and even more interesting to rewatch her portrayal of Jennifer years later. It’s awesome to see sexuality portrayed in something like a horror movie, but I’m here for it regardless.

Happiest Season - Kristen Stewart As Abby Holland

2020 was a year of few big film releases, with so many dates changing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many viewers turned to streaming for their entertainment and Happiest Season was one of them, telling the story of a woman who is struggling to come out to her conservative family when she brings her girlfriend home for the holidays.

Kristen Stewart takes on the lead role as Abby Holland in the Happiest Season cast, the girlfriend of Harper, who comes home with her during the holidays. Kristen Stewart herself has come out as queer, and discussed in an interview with InStyle, how her journey of coming out helped her portray the character in the film. When asked if it was her own experiences that drew her to the role, she discussed the challenges of dating and fame during her early twenties, and being asked about her sexuality, stating:

When an actor goes through something so personal, it’s not a surprise that the character comes off so organically real, and that was the case with Happiest Season. Not only is it a great Christmas film, but it’s certainly a great portrayal of what coming out to a conservative family can be like.

Clean Slate – Laverne Cox as Desiree

While Laverne Cox has been in the business for a while, there are so many amazing roles we could point to that I knew I wanted to focus on a new one of hers. While everyone knows her as Sophia from Orange is the New Black, I wanted to focus on Desiree, a trans woman from Clean Slate who wishes to rebuild her relationship with her father.

Cox has identified as transgender for many years and is actively a part of the LGBTQ+ community. The show, which is on Amazon Prime, actively dives into modern-day complexities within the American family of learning to adjust to life changes and how people live their lives while also dealing with the topic of rights within the LGBTQ+ community – all while telling jokes that make you chuckle throughout it. Cox is a star, as always.

Schitt's Creek - Dan Levy As David Rose

Of course I had to put Schitt’s Creek on here. Schitt's Creek ended up becoming extremely popular in 2020, even going on to sweep the comedic awards at the 2020 Primetime Emmys for its final season. One of the stars of the show - as well as one of the creators - was Dan Levy, who played David Rose, the pansexual son of Moira and Johnny. And in my opinion, David Rose was one of the funniest characters that Schitt's Creek had, and I am going to miss him terribly now that the show is over.

Dan Levy, who is gay, did an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2022 about David's pansexuality, and how it affected Schitt's Creek as a whole.

All representation starts somewhere, and I believe that David Rose was the perfect step in the right direction. Besides, who else would have been able to pull off that character other than Dan Levy? And if you had another option, I'm very uninterested in that opinion.

I can’t wait to see who from this list appears in our 2025 movie schedule or what they might be doing next in the 2025 TV schedule. I’m champing at the bit for any new projects they might have coming – but maybe I could just rewatch some of these and enjoy the ride all over again.

Every once in a while, celebrity siblings - such as Ben and Casey Affleck or Dakota and Elle Fanning - end up sharing the screen together. Well, apparently it happens a little more often than just every once in a while, given the amount of examples we compiled below.

Jake And Maggie Gyllenhaal (A Dangerous Woman, Homegrown, Donnie Darko)

Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and his twice-nominated older sister, Maggie, are in three movies together: 1993’s A Dangerous Woman, 1998’s Homegrown (both were directed by their father, Stephen), and the eventual sci-fi cult classic, Donnie Darko, in 2001.

Oscar winner Jeff Bridges and his older brother, Beau, also played siblings in The Fabulous Baker Boys - a 1989 comedy in which the titular musicians become rivals after teaming up with a beautiful aspiring singer (Michelle Pfieffer).

Kate Mara of the House of Cards cast led the 2005 straight-to-video slasher, Urban Legends: Bloody Mary, in which her younger sister, Nightmare Alley’s Rooney Mara, made her acting debut.

Future two-time Oscar-winner Sean Penn and his late younger brother, Chris (best known from the Reservoir Dogs cast) played siblings in the 1986 crime thriller, At Close Range, starring Christopher Walken as their criminal father.

Andrew, Owen, And Luke Wilson (Bottle Rocket, The Royal Tenenbaums) 

Owen Wilson and his younger sibling, Luke have also acted alongside their eldest brother, Andrew, in 1996’s Bottle Rocket and The Royal Tenenbaums from 2001 - both of which Owen also co-wrote with director Wes Anderson.

Chris And Luke Hemsworth (Thor: Ragnarok)

Chris Hemsworth has yet to star in anything with his little bro, Liam, but the Australian Marvel movie star’s older bother, Westworld star Luke, did show up in Thor: Ragnarok as a dramatized version of the God of Thunder, whom he is set to reprise (along with Matt Damon as “Actor Loki”) in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Dylan And Cole Sprouse (Various)

Twin brothers Dylan and Cole Sprouse (the latter of which went on to join the Riverdale cast) have shared the same role in several TV shows (most notably Grace Under Fire) and movies (such as Big Daddy with Adam Sandler) and have played siblings just as often, most famously as the title characters of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, its spin-off The Suite Life on Deck, and 2011’s The Suite Life Movie.

Tia, Tamera, And Tahj Mowry  (Sister, Sister, Smart Guy, Seventeen Again)

Twin sisters Tia and Tamera Mowry have shared the screen with their little brother, Tahj, several times - most notably as guest stars on each other’s respective sitcoms, Sister, Sister and Smart Guy, and in the 2000 Showtime original movie, Seventeen Again.

James And Dave Franco (The Disaster Artist)

After years finding success in the business in separate projects, James Franco and his younger brother, Dave, played Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero of the infamous cult favorite, The Room, in the 2017 biopic, The Disaster Artist.

Hilary And Haylie Duff (Various)

Haylie Duff would appear on three episodes of her younger sister, Hilary’s, Disney Channel show, Lizzie McGuire, and provided the singing voice of Isabella Parigi in the theatrical spin-off before they both played a singing group on an episode of American Dreams, sisters in the 2006 rags-to-riches story Material Girls, and both leant their voices to the infamous animated movie Foodfight!, which was released in 2012.

Aly And AJ Michalka (Various)

Singer-songwriter duo Aly and AJ Michalka first shared the screen in the 2006 Disney Channel original movie Cow Belles as sisters, again in the MTV original Super Sweet 16: The Movie the next year as rivals, followed by three episodes of Aly’s CW series Hellcats in 2011 as half-sisters. Most recently, they appeared in the 2015 drama, Weepah Way For Now, as what appear to be fictionalized versions of themselves.

Dakota And Elle Fanning (I Am Sam, Taken)

Elle Fanning has portrayed a younger version of her older sister, Dakota, on two separate occasions: first in the 2001 drama I Am Sam and secondly in the Steven Spielberg-produced, Syfy original miniseries, Taken, in 2002.

Spencer And Abigail Breslin (Various)

Academy Award nominee Abigail and her older brother, Spencer, played siblings in both Raising Helen and The Princess Diaries 2: A Royal Engagement in 2004, played elves in The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause in 2006, and later played cousins in the 2014 crime drama, Perfect Sisters.

Jason And Justine Bateman (Arrested Development)

Justine Bateman played her real-life brother, Jason's, sibling in the 1986 TV movie Can You Feel Me Dancing? and a sex worker whom Jason’s Michael Bluth mistakes for his long-lost sibling on Arrested Development.

John, Joan, Ann, And Bill Cusack (Grosse Pointe Blank)

While beloved star John Cusack and his Academy-nominated sister, Joan, have appeared in more films together than most celebrity siblings can claim (including Say Anything… and High Fidelity), the only screen credit that they also share with both their sister, Ann, and brother, Bill, is 1997’s Grosse Pointe Blank, which John also co-wrote and produced.

Bill And Brian Doyle Murray (Various) 

Bill Murray and his older brother, Brian, are both Saturday Night Live veterans (although at different times) and have several classic movies in common - including Caddyshack, Scrooged, Ghostbusters II, Groundhog Day, and The Razor's Edge.

Ben And Casey Affleck (Good Will Hunting, Chasing Amy)

Years before casting him in his amazing directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, Ben Affleck shared the screen with his younger brother and fellow Oscar winner, Casey, in Good Will Hunting (which Ben co-wrote with Matt Damon) and Kevin Smith’s Chasing Amy in 1997.

Macaulay And Kieran Culkin (Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York)

Kieran Culkin (now more famous than ever since starring on HBO’s Succession) made his acting debut alongside his older brother (child megastar Macaulay Culkin) in 1990’s Home Alone cast as his cousin, Fuller - a role he would also reprise in the 1992 sequel.

Rory And Kieran Culkin (Igby Goes Down)

In addition to playing Macaulay’s younger self in Richie Rich, the youngest Culkin brother, Rory, also played a younger version of Kieran as the title role in 2002's Igby Goes Down.

The Wayans Siblings (Various) 

Where do we start with the Wayans Siblings? Well, for instance, several of them (such as Damon and Kim Wayans) were a part of the In Living Color cast with star and creator Keenen Ivory Wayans, who later directed his younger brothers, Marlon and Shawn, in movies like White Chicks, the first two Scary Movie installments, and Little Man.

Zooey And Emily Deschanel (Bones)

In Season 5 of Bones, star Emily Deschanel’s sister (Zooey of the Elf cast fame and later the lead of the New Girl cast) guest starred as Temperance Brennan’s second cousin, Margaret Whitesell.

Fred And Ben Savage (Little Monsters, The Wonder Years, Boy Meets World)

After playing siblings in the family-friendly horror film, Little Monsters, in 1989, Ben Savage made a guest appearance on his older brother, Fred’s, hit dramedy, The Wonder Years, in 1990 and later returned the favor by inviting him to the Boy Meets World cast for an episode in 1998.

Charlie Sheen And Emilio Estevez (Various)

After making several movies together - including Young Guns, Men At Work, and Rated X (the latter two of which Emilio Estevez directed), Charlie Sheen (née Carlos Estevez) reunited with his brother on an episode of his hit sitcom, Two and a Half Men, in 2008.

Vanessa and Laura Marano (Saving Zoë)

Both of these talented ladies had guest appearances on Dexter at different times in the series’ run, but Vanessa Marano and her younger sister, Laura, did appear together in the 2019 mystery, Saving Zoë, as siblings torn apart by one’s unsolved murder.

Nat And Alex Wolff (The Naked Brothers Band, Mr. Troop Mom, Stella’s Last Weekend)

Hereditary’s Alex Wolff and his older brother, Peacock’s Joe vs. Carole cast member Nat Wolff, both debuted as fictionalized versions of themselves in Nickelodeon’s faux rockumentary, The Naked Brothers Band, its series continuation, and the 2009 TV movie Mr. Troop Mom before reuniting in 2018’s Stella’s Last Weekend, which was written and directed by their mother, Polly Draper.

Vera And Taissa Farmiga (Higher Ground, At Middleton, The Nun)

Scream Queens Vera and Taissa Farmiga, who are often mistaken for mother and daughter, played mother and daughter in 2013’s At Middleton after Taissa previously played her older sister’s younger self in Vera’s 2011 directorial debut, Higher Ground. However, interestingly, their characters in the 2018 Conjuring spin-off, The Nun, have no apparent familial ties.

Maude And Iris Apatow (Knocked Up, This Is 40, Funny People)

Euphoria’s Maude Apatow and her younger sister, Iris, have played siblings in 2007’s Knocked Up, its “sort-of sequel” This is 40 from 2012, and 2009’s Funny People - all three of which also starred their real mother, Leslie Mann, as their mother, and were written and directed by their father, Judd Apatow.

Dan And Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek)

While Annie Murphy plays co-creator Dan Levy’s on-screen sister in the Schitt’s Creek cast, Café Tropical owner, Twyla Sands, is played by his real-life sister, Sarah.

Mary-Kate, Ashley, And Elizabeth Olsen (How The West Was Fun)

After Full House made the Olsen Twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, household names and  before the Marvel movies made their younger sister, Elizabeth, an A-lister, all three of them appeared together in the ABC original TV movie How the West Was Fun in 1994.

Bill And Alexander Skarsgård (White Water Fury)

Years before his terrifying performance as Pennywise in It, Bill Skarsgård made his acting debut alongside his older brother, True Blood cast member Alexander, in the 2000 Swedish thriller, White Water Fury.

Blake And Robyn Lively (Simon Says)

Robyn Lively, star of 1989’s Teen Witch, shared the screen with her then up-and-coming half-sister, former Gossip Girl cast member Blake Lively, in a 2006 slasher flick called Simon Says, which also stars fellow ‘80s icon Crispin Glover.

Brian And Domhnall Gleeson (Mother!, Frank Of Ireland)

Despite plenty of years of experience between the them, it was not until 2017 when Star Wars star Domnhall Gleeson and his younger brother, Brian, shared the screen in Mother! before reuniting as co-creators and co-stars of the Amazon Prime original comedy Frank of Ireland - also starring their father, Brendan Gleeson.

Eddie And Charlie Murphy (Harlem Nights, Norbit)

Comedy icon Eddie Murphy worked behind the scenes a lot with his older brother, Charlie, who passed away in 2017, but the two would also share a few acting credits, - namely Eddie’s 1989 directorial debut Harlem Nights (also Charlie’s first movie), and in 2006’s Norbit, in which Charlie voiced a dog named Floyd.

Phylicia Rashad And Debbie Allen (The Cosby Show, Grey’s Anatomy, The Old Settler)

Phylicia Rashad and her younger sister, Emmy-winning dance legend Debbie Allen, have made guest appearances on each other’s shows - The Cosby Show, on which Rashad played Claire Huxtable, and Grey’s Anatomy, on which Allen plays Dr. Catherine Fox (née Avery) - and both starred in a 2001 TV movie called The Old Settler, which Allen also directed.

Ron And Clint Howard (Various)

Back when they were the biggest thing to come out of Disney Channel, Kevin, Nick, and Joe Jonas played three brothers in a band not named the Jonas Brothers in the Camp Rock movies, and later played themselves to more comedic effect in their own sitcom, aptly titled Jonas.

Looks like talent really does run in the family.

There are few shows that are able to achieve the status of cult classic and have each character (and their respective actor) become a comedic icon in their own right. However, Schitt’s Creek definitely makes that coveted list. Dan Levy’s award-winning, debut series about the riches to rags story of the Rose family is packed with golden gems of comedy and has spurred a number of catchphrases that fans have latched onto. While it’s certainly a good sign when a show is quotable, Levy apparently isn’t a huge fan of the series’ most popular catchphrase, and he’s revealed the exact reason why that’s the case.

The final season of Schitt’s Creek dropped over a year ago, but fans are still reveling in the glory that is the duo of Dan Levy’s David and sister Alexis. Fan-made products with Levy’s face followed by one of his many memorable quotes are all over Amazon and Etsy, but it’s one line in particular that might just “haunt him for the rest of his life” – “Ew, David,” which was uttered throughout the series by Annie Murphy’s Alexis Rose. 

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Dan Levy explained why he isn’t too thrilled about fans quoting the “Ew, David” line so frequently. And his reason is definitely understandable. This is what the Happiest Season star says, exactly:

What makes this particularly funny is that neither Dan Levy nor David Rose do anything that should really warrant an “Ew.” Alexis is honestly just a little (okay, very) dramatic. She says the word to basically anything that costs less than a Prada bag and uses it when acknowledging something that she can’t do in heels; it’s pretty much the opposite of Paris Hilton’s “That’s hot.”  Actually, Alexis Rose would probably have fit in pretty well with Paris and her posse if she had been around in 2005 and, well, actually existed. 

In addition to her many “Ews”, she uses David’s name practically whenever she can. There are plenty of compilations of scenes in which she refers to her brother unnecessarily, and it’s amazing that something that simple can be so funny. It’s no wonder the combination of the two exclamations have become the best known catchphrase from the series.

But what really makes the usage of the phrase is David’s reaction to them. Dan Levy is super talented in a number of things, and his ability to create humorous facial expressions is certainly a beloved asset. In a way, it’s pretty fitting that the actor, like his character, doesn’t appear to love having “Ew, David” thrown his way.

Fans mourned when the series ended after six seasons, at least I know that I did, and it’s largely due to the many lovable characters and their interactions with one another. Not all is lost, though, as Dan Levy is just getting the ball rolling on his career and we can expect plenty more from him in the future, maybe even another visit to Schitt’s Creek via a movie.

There is nothing the internet likes more than an intriguing rumor. And, even though folks typically fixate on things like celebrity romances, surprising divorces, scandals, and potential pregnancies, everyone who loves the frequently uber-secretive world of the MCU enjoys a good, old-fashioned casting rumor. Now, Emmy-winning Schitt’s Creek mastermind / star Dan Levy has responded to those rumors that he’s joining Ant-Man 3.

If you missed the hubbub, at the end of July a photo was posted to Twitter by famed London chef Asma Khan, which showed Dan Levy enjoying a meal with Ant-Man himself, the ageless Paul Rudd, at her restaurant, Darjeeling Express. This threw the interwebs into quite the tizzy, with many people assuming this must have been a meeting about Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, seeing as how filming on the upcoming blockbuster had recently begun. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, though, Levy was asked about the photo, and said:

Well, it’s pretty clear that having his photo with Rudd make so much news really brought up a lot of things for Levy, isn’t it? I can only imagine that he probably didn’t think that anyone would read much of anything into him just dining with a fellow performer, as he still seems pretty shocked by the response the photo got. 

First of all, it would seem that Levy will not be a part of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, as he didn’t hem or haw when saying he wasn’t going to be in the new movie. Of course, we’ve been tricked before in these Marvel casting matters, but when someone has joined the MCU, they generally don’t outright say “I’m not in the movie,” but tend to respond with something closer to, “Hey, I heard that, too! Crazy, right?” like Jonathan Majors did in the fall of 2020, when asked if he was going to play Kang the Conqueror. And, obviously, he did end up doing that, for Loki (basically) as well as Ant-Man 3.

However, it should be noted that Levy only said he wasn’t going to be “in” the movie. Obviously, this is my Marvel casting conspiracy brain at work here, but that wording would allow for Levy to voice a character, or maybe do some motion-capture performance and still be telling us the truth, so...make of that what you will.

Secondly, as Levy noted, at least one aspect of the conversation that erupted around the picture was less than generous to him, and that is the idea that, to many people, Rudd (who is 52) looks many years younger than the 38-year-old Levy. While that would probably be a not great thing to hear, Levy seems to have taken it in stride by agreeing with that opinion, and even later saying, “Look at his face! I look like a 92-year old man beside him!” Oh, Dan. We love you.

Dan Levy may have experienced a bit of a “lose-lose” situation after the picture of him having dinner with Paul Rudd started the Ant-Man rumors, but as he also said, it’s Paul Rudd, you guys. He’s a delight, so spending time with the man ends up being a wonderful “win-win,” regardless.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is due in theaters on February 17th, 2023, but we have plenty of other films, including other upcoming Marvel movies, due between now and then. So, take a look at our list of 2021 movies and the 2022 new movie releases to tide yourself over!

After six seasons of his hit TV show Schitt’s Creek, Dan Levy is ready for his next big adventure. With a supporting role in the Hulu hit Happiest Season and his first SNL hosting gig in the bag, that call to action would be a pretty big claim to fulfill. So naturally, Mr. Levy has gone big in a place where that very strategy is etched on the doors to the lobby: Netflix. His first big project for the platform is a romantic comedy that he’ll be very attached to.

Officially announced by Netflix itself, Dan Levy has entered a creative partnership with the studio that helped make his career. Not merely limited to movies, Levy will start working on series oriented projects in July 2022. Though when it comes to his new romantic comedy, work will begin “immediately” on a project that Dan Levy will write, produce and direct, in addition to starring in.

This new deal couldn’t be more fitting, as if it wasn’t for Netflix’s support, Schitt’s Creek may not have become the hit we all know it to be today. As the streamer nabbed the rights to the CBC-created sitcom early in its network run, the audience for the series co-created by Dan Levy, alongside his father/co-star Eugene Levy, expanded exponentially. Honoring this fitting partnership, Levy had this to say in an official statement:

It’s probably a good thing that Dan Levy got that upcoming Schitt’s Creek book in the pipeline when he did. Netflix partnerships such as these can be quite fruitful, especially with Levy’s future spanning across both film and television. While we may not know much about this new romantic comedy, it sounds like things might get underway at some point in the next year, with a release date potentially not too far off. Though that’s hopeful speculation, as nothing official has been set, outside of Dan Levy's series commitment being pinned into a specific July 2022 time frame.

An experienced creator, Dan Levy’s next steps in his career look to be as confident as they are promising. Keeping an eye out for the next details for his untitled romantic comedy, as well as the unspecified series projects on the horizon, is going to be fun to keep in mind as we get closer to 2022. It's been a little over a year since fans said goodbye to the wacky Rose family - David, Alexis, Moira, and Johnny - and the frequently odd town they came to call home on Schitt's Creek. While the comedy took a while to catch on with a large audience, once it did, it became a bit of a pop culture phenomenon, to the point where fans are already inquiring about reunion efforts after the Schitt's Creek ending. Well, now star / co-creator / writer Dan Levy and his father, star / co-creator Eugene Levy, have written more about the show, but it's not what you might expect.

Even after six seasons of watching the hilariously unique characters of Schitt's Creek live, love, learn, and grow in the tiny eponymous town, many viewers still want a lot more. So, Daniel Levy and Eugene Levy have answered fans' call, and written Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: The Story of Schitt’s Creek, which is set to be released on October 26. Oooh. Doesn't it look gorgeous?! OK, sure, I realize that a coffee table collector's book is probably not exactly what you were hoping for when it comes to more Schitt's Creek, but you can't say that Dan and Eugene Levy haven't put together something great for the mega-fans among us that would make a fantastic gift. The hardcover tome, which clocks in at 368 pages, is said to be a "lavishly illustrated...celebration of the series, the town, the characters, and the state of mind that is Schitt's Creek." And, if you're thinking that such a book will contain a lot of goodies for those who love and miss the kind-hearted comedy, you'd be correct.

Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: The Story of Schitt’s Creek will feature character profiles of the main cast of characters, as well as profiles for those like Ronnie, Bob, Twyla, and all of the other noted townsfolk who helped to make Schitt's Creek beloved. We'll also be treated to a recap of major moments for the series, including David and Patrick's first kiss, the Rose Family Christmas episode, and even when Moira decided to lend her endorsement to Herb Ertlinger Winery.

Fans will also get a lot of special features, which will include illustrated guides to David's, largely duo-toned, knitwear collection and (OMG, I'm SO excited about this!) Moira's wigs. Plus, there will be lots of behind the scenes tales from the Schitt's Creek cast to round things out.

Even though Dan Levy admitted, a few months after the show ended, that they left the Schitt's Creek story with Season 6 because he wanted to make sure they were able to go out on top with audiences loving it as much as they did in the beginning, he also said later that he felt everyone involved would return for a movie if he had the right idea. Seeing as how fans still bemoan the loss of new episodes (and the series made Emmy Award history by sweeping all seven comedy categories), they definitely ended strong.

And, while Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: The Story of Schitt’s Creek isn't the same as new Schitt's Creek, it's absolutely the next best thing for everyone who wants more from the departed hit.

Dan Levy (David Rose)

You cannot think of David Rose without hearing Annie Murphy as Alexis say “David!” David is the pansexual and pretentious son of Moira (O’Hara) and Johnny (Levy). He comes to Schitt’s Creek already hating everyone and everything about it, but he finds his place among the crazy townsfolk and builds a life there that he truly grows to love. Dan Levy was also co-creator and one of the executive producers of Schitt’s Creek.

Prior to joining the Schitt’s Creek cast, Levy had small roles in films like Cyberstalker, Degrassi Goes Hollywood, Admission, and Stage Fright. In 2020, he had a supporting role in the Christmas movie Happiest Season. He played Abby (Kristen Stewart)’s best friend John. He also appeared in an episode of Modern Family and had judging and/or hosting duties on Dismantled, The Great Canadian Baking Show, and Saturday Night Live. He was also the narrator on The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show.

Eugene Levy (Johnny Rose)

Eugene Levy played the patriarch of the Rose family. He made his fortune with a chain of video stores. He bought Schitt’s Creek as a joke, but it then became the Rose family’s final asset. Eugene Levy co-created Schitt’s Creek with his son Dan Levy. He’s also one of the series’ executive producers.

Many recognize Levy from his time in the American Pie franchise as Jim (Jason Biggs)’s dad, Noah Levenstein. As of 2021, he played this character for seven movies in the American Pie franchise. Many also recognize Levy from the cult-favorite Christopher Guest movie Best in Show. He then re-teamed with Guest for A Mighty Wind and For Your Consideration.

Levy has also appeared in iconic '80s and '90s movies such as National Lampoon’s Vacation, Splash, the Father of the Bride films, and I Love Trouble. He also appeared in Josie and the Pussycats, Serendipity, Like Mike, Finding Dory, and Night at the Museum Battle of the Smithsonian.

Catherine O’Hara (Moira Rose)

Moira Rose is a former soap star, still holding on to a bit of her glory days. Most of Alexis and David’s quirky habits are clearly inherited from their mother Moira. Catherine O’Hara has had so many iconic roles throughout her over 45-year career. Many may recognize her voice as Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas. O’Hara also teamed up with Tim Burton in Beetlejuice and Frankenweenie.

Home Alone fans will recognize O’Hara for her role as Kate McCallister in the first two Home Alone movies. Yes, she was the mother who left or lost her son twice. O’Hara has also appeared in the same Christopher Guest films with Schitt’s Creek co-star Eugene Levy. These films are Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration. She also appeared in the movies Penelope, Chicken Little, Where the Wild Things Are, and Dick Tracy.

Annie Murphy (Alexis Rose)

Everyone needs a little bit of Alexis in their lives. She came to Schitt’s Creek very self-centered but discovered that there was more to life than money and crazy adventures, not much more, but at least a little more. Annie Murphy appeared in episodes of Blue Mountain State, Beauty & the Beast, Flashpoint, and Rookie Blue. She was also one of the main characters in the Canadian comedy The Plateaus, which centered on an indie rock band.

In 2020, she landed the lead role on Kevin Can F**k Himself. The series began airing on AMC in June 2021. Murphy joined the cast of the second season of Russian Doll in the same year.

Emily Hampshire (Stevie Budd)

Stevie is one of Johnny’s employees. However, as the series progresses, Stevie becomes like another member of the Rose family. Emily Hampshire appeared in the 1998 romantic comedy Boy Meets Girl. She was the female lead opposite Sean Astin. She also appeared in the movies The Life Before This, Posers, and Snow Cake. She played Chanel in the gender and body-swap Freaky Friday-style movie It’s A Boy Girl Thing. She had a supporting role opposite fellow Canadian Kevin Zegers, and The O.C actress Samaire Armstrong.

Hampshire also appeared in the films Good Neighbours, Mother!, and the Robert Pattinson starring film Cosmopolis. She also appeared in episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark,? Ruby Gloom, Republic of Doyle, and Rookie Blue. She had a recurring role on the TV adaptation of 12 Monkeys for the first season and joined as a main cast member from Seasons 2 to 4. Chris Elliott (Roland Schitt)

Roland Schitt is the mayor of Schitt’s Creek. He was a bothersome character to all members of the Rose family until they kind of just accepted his antics. Elliott had a long history of comedic roles prior to Schitt’s Creek, including being part of the Scary Movie franchise. Elliott appeared in the comedies Groundhog Day, Cabin Boy, Kingpin, There’s Something About Mary, Osmosis Jones, and Sandy Wexler.

Elliott also appeared on Late Night with David Letterman from 1982 to 1988. He appeared on the series Get a Life, Saturday Night Live, The Naked Truth, Dilbert, Cursed, and How I Met Your Mother. He also appeared in episodes of Murphy Brown, Wings, The Nanny, The King of Queens, and Everybody Loves Raymond.

Dustin Milligan (Ted Mullens)

Dustin Milligan played Ted, Alexis’s main love interest for most of Schitt’s Creek. They seemed like opposites but that’s what made them work. They grew from being together. Ted is also Schitt’s Creek’s local veterinarian. Dustin Milligan was briefly a main character on the 90210 reboot. He left the series after one season. Milligan has appeared in episodes of Blindspot, Silicon Valley, The Dead Zone, Supernatural, and Dead Like Me.

Milligan also appeared in the movies Final Destination 3, The Butterfly Effect 2, The Messengers, In the Land of Women, and A Simple Favor. He has a recurring role on the Peacock original series Rutherford Falls. Milligan made an appearance on RuPaul’s celebrity drag race special series RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race. He appeared in the third episode alongside Matt Iseman and Alex Newell.

Noah Reid (Patrick Brewer)

Patrick was David’s main love interest from seasons 4 through 6. He started as David’s business partner but grew into much more. Noah Reid appeared on some Canadian teen shows in his younger days, including In a Heartbeat, Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, Naturally Sadie, and Degrassi: The Next Generation. He also appeared in episodes of Rookie Blue, Alphas, House of Lies, and the Annie Murphy-starring series The Plateaus. He was the lead character in the short-run series Kevin from Work.

Sarah Levy (Twyla Sands)

Keeping it in the Levy family, Sarah Levy played Twyla on Schitt’s Creek. Twyla works at Schitt’s Creek’s local cafe. She started the show as a romantic rival to Alexis as they both cared about the same man, but then became a friend to all of the Rose family.

Sarah Levy appeared in the film Larry Crowne and on episodes of the series Baroness Von Sketch Show, United We Fall, and All Rise. Levy will have a main role in the upcoming SYFY series SurrealEstate, which premieres on July 16, 2021. She stars opposite Tim Rozon, who played Mutt Schitt on Schitt’s Creek. It’s one of the 2021 Summer TV Shows that sci-fi/fantasy fans may enjoy.

When it comes to Modern Family, there are so many stories and characters who intersect on a regular basis. While there have been celebrities who have popped up for recurring storylines on the long-time running show, there have also been several Modern Family actors who have appeared once or twice.

Most of these you might have forgotten, as some were from a long time ago. I mean, the show did run for eleven seasons, so there are guaranteed to be plenty of guest stars who have disappeared into the backs of our minds. These ten actors and actresses appeared on Modern Family at some point in time – let’s see how many you can remember.

Lin-Manuel Miranda (Guillermo)

He certainly didn’t throw away his shot to be on TV.

Before the success of Hamilton and the worldwide phenomenon that Lin-Manuel Miranda became, he was known for a few smaller projects, one of which was In The Heights, a Tony-award-winning production. However, prior to him starting to expand his horizons with amazing work such as Moana, Mary Poppins Returns and more, Miranda had a guest spot on Modern Family.

In this episode, he portrays Guillermo, a man who meets Gloria at a grocery store where he works. Gloria decides to bring him home to pitch his innovative dog training ideas to Jay. It’s certainly a smaller guest role, but even funnier to watch now that Lin-Manuel Miranda has reached higher heights of fame.

Winston Duke (Dwight)

To be honest, M’Baku was one of my favorite parts of Black Panther, just because, with all the drama that of that now-classic, he had some of the best one-liners in the movie. However, prior to him appearing in the hit Marvel movie, as well as the horror-thriller Us, he appeared in a couple of episodes of Modern Family.

In his episodes, Dwight, Duke’s character, was the star player on the football team that Cameron coached, and he ended up staying with Cam and Mitchell for a while after his home life became unstable. While he wasn’t in the series for long, his story certainly had more impact than many other pop-up celebrities who have appeared on the show.

Dan Levy (Jonah)

Before his success on the mega-hit that was Schitt’s Creek, Dan Levy had some smaller guest appearances on shows like Modern Family. While Schitt’s Creek was already on air at the time, it would take a while for the show to become as popular as it did. And, his character was just as hilarious as you would expect him to be.

Jonah, Levy’s character, is actually a courtroom sketch artist, who draws unflattering pictures of Mitchell when they are in court. Is it silly? Yes. It is still hilariously funny? Of course it is. It’s Dan Levy. You really can’t go wrong.

Keegan-Michael Key (Tom)

While Keegan-Michael Key has had plenty of work on his hands, from his projects on TV hits like Key & Peele, to movies like Jingle Jangle and Pinocchio, which will be coming out in the next couple of years, he is no stranger to guest roles on sitcoms. That’s exactly what happened with Modern Family.

In this episode, Key’s character, Tom, is part of a couple that Claire and Phil meet while on vacation. While they do hit it off and end up all going on double dates together, it seems that Claire and Phil always ended up with the check – a truly annoying circumstance. But, I mean, how can you not smile when eating dinner with Keegan-Michael Key? I’d pay for his check any time.

Edward Norton (Izzy)

While he was, most certainly, extremely famous prior to making his appearance on Modern Family, Edward Norton was still a great addition to the cast for one episode. While Norton has been in such hits as Fight Club and American History X, he takes a bit of a turn in this – a comedic one.

Norton’s character, Izzy, is hired by Claire because she believes that he was once part of Phil’s favorite band. Hilariously, though, was not and Phil has no idea where any of his music came from, creating a mess of a situation where they basically invited a total stranger into their home. Sounds like a normal Dunphy weekday, to me.

James Marsden (Barry)

This was one I really forgot because it was so early in the series that it happened, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s not a hilarious moment. You’ve seen James Marsden play a wide variety characters in films like Hairspray, the X-Men franchise, maybe even The Notebook, but in Modern Family, he’s simply a hot guy in a hot tub.

Seriously, that’s his role. In this early episode of Modern Family, Marsden plays Barry, a man that Cam and Mitchell find in their hot tub one night and decide that because he’s good-looking, they’ll allow him to stay. Near the end of the episode, thought, they end up finding out he has been staying in their daughter’s playhouse in the back. I can’t tell you how uncomfortably funny I found the episode the first time I saw it.

Aisha Tyler (Wendy)

Aisha Tyler, best known for her work in some big-time TV shows like Ghost Whisperer and Criminal Minds, also ended up stopping by the Modern Family set at one point for a guest appearance. In this episode, she plays Wendy, a former classmate of Mitchell’s at law school.

What’s even more interesting is that Mitchell actually ends up reporting to Wendy at the legal aid society which she founded, so it intertwines their lives even further. While it’s one of the most low-key guest appearances on this list, it’s certainly one of the best ones, in my opinion, for how natural it felt.

Josh Gad (Kenneth)

Ah…do you remember pre-Frozen Josh Gad? I swear every time I hear his voice now, all I can think about is Olaf. But, then I see his face and I’m reminded that he’s been really funny ion several things, and that was no different when he made his guest appearance on Modern Family.

In this episode from 2011, Phil meets Kenneth, a man who is now a billionaire because he, ironically, looked up to Phil and idolized him, trying to achieve his success through some of the methods that Phil used in the past. While the guest appearance is one of the older ones here, it creates a great character-building moment for Phil, establishing the question “what would Phil Dunphy do?”

John DiMaggio (Boat Captain)

Line this up as another one of those cameos that have surely evaded your mind. John DiMaggio actually had an appearance on the show. You may not recognize his face, but his voice is one of the most iconic out there, as he plays a robot that everyone loves – that’s right, he's Bender from Futurama. Which makes this rare guest appearance so much more fun.

In this episode, DiMaggio simply plays a boat captain, who stops Gloria, Jay, and Mitch from boarding. Again, it was so long ago, and such a small role, but if you know, you know.

Lauren Cohan (Receptionist)

I can almost guarantee that you didn’t remember this one – because I certainly didn’t. As a The Walking Dead fan, I know Lauren Cohan as soon as I see her. I know who she is and how awesome of an actress she is. So, color me surprised when I re-watched the show and noticed that she actually had a Modern Family guest role.

Don’t be shocked, it was quite a small role. She played a receptionist who guided our favorite characters in the right direction. But, I mean, if you’re a fan of The Walking Dead or even Supernatural, you know exactly who she is, which makes her appearance even more entertaining to see.

Which one of these surprised you the most? It’s a shame that Modern Family won’t be on the 2021 TV schedule but I’m sure there will be so many other comedies to look forward to as well – with even more amazing guest appearances.

Long-running late night hit Saturday Night Live returned to the studio for Season 46, and while we've had some amazing guest hosts over the past several months, the number of people who were likely looking forward to the appearance of Schitt's Creek funny man Dan Levy are probably innumerable. Plenty of viewers praised Levy's work on the show, but fans were even more impressed when it seemed like he started a lovely new tradition behind the scenes. Now, though Levy has come clean about the hosting tradition, and revealed who really began it.

Dan Levy took the stage as a Saturday Night Live guest host for the first time on February 6, in Episode 11. He decided to leave a lovely note behind for the next week's host, Regina King, and not only did the move make headlines, but it sparked what seemed to have been a new tradition. In subsequent weeks, host King left a note for Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page, who in turn left a sweet missive for Nick Jonas. But, it turns out that Levy got the idea from someone else, and was definitely not the first to make such a kind gesture.

Apparently, he spotted an old note in his dressing room from Woody Harrleson to Phoebe Waller-Bridge, from last season, thought it was a great idea and decided to do the same. As he told Today:

I don't know about you, but I think this makes Dan Levy an even sweeter person. Not only did he decide to fess up about his move to leave a lovely note behind for the guest host after him being an idea he got from Harrelson, but he also thought it was a great tradition to start again. He could have easily kept quiet and let us all go on believing that no other SNL host in the history of the show had considered such a thing, but he told the truth. And, picking the gesture back up, when there had been several hosts between when Harrelson took the gig and when we saw Levy do it, also just makes him a stand up guy, in my opinion.

Of course, it should be noted that just because we know for a fact that Woody Harrelson, Dan Levy, Regina King, Regé-Jean Page, and Nick Jonas made this move, it doesn't mean that the literally hundreds of other celebrities who've hosted haven't done the same thing or something similar for the guest host after them. I mean, I can totally see Blake Shelton making sure that J.K. Simmons had some nice flowers in his dressing room before he hosted, can't you?

How much can a post-it really be worth? When it comes from Dan Levy, the answer is a whole Saturday Night Live tradition and a warm fuzzy feeling right in the chest. Our hearts are feeling full seeing that other celebrities like Regina King and Rege-Jean Page have continued the Schitt’s Creek star’s adorable tradition of leaving post-it notes on the SNL dressing room mirror for the next host, wishing them well with some kind words.

Leave it to Dan Levy to help make such a simple and heartwarming gesture into a celebrity trend; the man can seemingly turn anything to gold. While Levy may not have known his sweet note to Regina King would go viral and launch a new SNL tradition, we are sure glad it did. You can see the initial note left by Levy which King shared to her Instagram upon finding it on the dressing room mirror below:

Dan Levy’s note simply says “Regina! You got this! Much love, Dan,” but the small vote of confidence speaks wonders. Levy even responded to Regina King’s post with another confidence boost, saying “Can’t wait to watch you knock it out of the park this weekend.”

It really is the thought that counts, because Regina decided the gesture was worthy of imitation as she left her own note for the next host of SNL, Rege-Jean Page. Page then followed King’s lead and posted the note to his Instagram with the same mirror image of himself next to the note that King had in her post. She follows Dan Levy’s confidence-boosting tone by hyping Page up, saying “You are going to be AMAZING! I’m a huge fan.” Check it out:

If that wasn't cute enough, the tradition was continued by Rege-Jean Page leaving a note for Nick Jonas, who was the next host of SNL after Page. Jonas followed in his predecessors' footsteps by capturing the following photo, highlighting the note’s message of “Just have the Best time.”

Since SNL is on a hiatus right now, we’ll have to wait and see if Nick Jonas continues the tradition of writing to the next host of the long running comedy show. Seeing as he did post his note on social media, it would only make sense that Maya Rudolph, who is set to host the next episode of SNL, will be welcomed with a note on the mirror of her dressing room, as well.

Saturday Night Live is set to come back from its hiatus later this month, on March 27th. Maya Rudolph, SNL vet and one of the stars of Netflix’s animated Big Mouth, is set to take the reins as host and will, hopefully, both receive a post-it from Nick Jonas and leave one behind for the next host, continuing Dan Levy’s simple, yet completely adorable tradition.

It’s nice to see the Golden Globes go on despite what’s going on in the world, but I have to be honest here: most of it being a giant Zoom meeting didn't necessarily make the hours go by quicker. Still, there was a certain charm about seeing our favorite actors at home (or fancy hotels?) with their families. More importantly, the Globes put some of their pets into the spotlight and it was distracting in the best way. I’m already drifting off thinking about Watchmen’s Regina King and her pup.

Before the telecast had even begun, Regina King gave a pre-show interview where her dog could be seen plopping on its bed, as to say ‘goodnight, I’ll check all the winners in the morning.’ Check it out:

The One Night In Miami nominee was displaying her beautiful gown, but we certainly got something special tonight beyond the usual red carpet shenanigans. Pets became a running perk of the night, with Sarah Paulson’s dog also making an appearance halfway through the show. Take a look:

During the Best Actress in a Drama Series grouping, pets became a point of conversation among the women, as Sarah Paulson and Olivia Colman could be heard asking Emma Corrin (who won for her role as Princess Diana in The Crown) to bring her kitty out. And then it happened:

The best part about being on Zoom all the time has been the rare animal sightings, so were we really surprised to see so many during the show? The very best doggo of the entire night was definitely Jodie Foster’s canine couch mate, who was lovingly at her side for her fourth Golden Globe win. Foster nabbed Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for The Mauritanian. Check it:

Jodie Foster accepted the award on her couch next to her wife, Alexandra Hedison, who was cozied up with the Silence of the Lambs actress in sleek pajamas. It became an immediate highlight of the night that had many ogling over Foster and her little family. As one Twitter user said:

It’s no mystery that the key place to find some the best (and most expensive) commercials on TV is the Super Bowl. It’s also no mystery that this year’s big game is one like no other, coming in the midst of the COVID pandemic. As such, fewer ads aired overall throughout CBS’ Super Bowl LV telecast, and they weren’t quite as weird and wacky as they’ve been in years past. Mirth and joy weren't completely absent, to be sure, with several big brands such as M&M's, Tide and ViacomCBS' soon-to-be-rebranded streaming service Paramount+ delivering big laughs with their quirky spots.

Let's kick things off with the previously mentioned chocolate-coated candies that long ago developed its reputation for hilarious and memorable Super Bowl commercials, with M&M's recruiting Schitt's Creek fave Dan Levy for its latest high-profile spot.

M&M's Thinking Dan Levy Is Sus

Recent years have been trying on many personal relationships, so M&M's is offering itself up as the perfect accompaniment to a long-warranted apology to a friend or loved one. Granted, not everyone will be repentant for the specific reason that recent SNL guest host Dan Levy is, namely for eating anthropomorphic candies, and then lying about it directly to their big, round, delicious faces. 2021 might not be such a good year for the Red M&M.

Doritos' Creepy 2D Matthew McConaughey

Remember in True Detective when Matthew McConaughey's character Rust Cohle said that time is a flat circle? I wanted to find a way to spin that quote in the most clever way to talk about this Doritos 3D ad, but I was too creeped out by McConaughey's paper doll appearance to attempt it. Thankfully, the punchline moment with the vending machine saved this from being 100% nightmare fuel. Still more appealing than some of his Lincoln commercials, though.

General Motors Bringing Will Ferrell To Norway...Er, Sweden

Scruffy Will Ferrell should host his own international travel show, with this General Motors ad serving as the pilot. "Will Ferrell pulls together a group of celebrity friends to go on mishandled global adventures" is a perfect logline. Pirate Kenan Thompson? Check. Super-archer Awkwafina? Check. Something about General Motors? Check. That's it. That's the show.

Tracy Morgan Getting Dangerous For Rocket Mortgage

Having given the world too-skinny Jason Momoa last year, Rocket Mortgage crafted a pair of this year's best Super Bowl ads thanks to both its solid "I'm pretty sure..." gag and the genius of Tracy Morgan. The commercial above featured WWE and Guardians of the Galaxy superstar Dave Bautista in a few fun moments, while the second ad actually featured a pro wrestling joke that didn't use Bautista. I don't know about you, but I'm no longer feeling very confident in Morgan's ability to tell the difference between hornets that do murder and hornets that do not murder.

Wayne's World Returning For Uber Eats

Mike Myers and Dana Carvey already had Wayne's World fans clamoring for more Wayne and Garth after they reunited during the 2019 Oscars, and Uber Eats is somehow the company that answered the [eat local] call with a series of wonderfully silly ads culminating in the shameless Super Bowl spot seen above. If you had "Cardi B dressed up as Garth Algar" on your bingo card, then you [eat local] win it all. Game, set, schwing!

Paramount+ Bringing Together Star Trek, Beavis And Butt-Head & More

For all the pop culture fanatics out there who tend to embrace crossovers and multiverses, Paramount+'s Super Bowl ads were downright magical, bringing together actors and characters from a wide variety of TV shows under the ViacomCBS umbrella to make viewers fully aware of the CBS All Access streaming service rebranding. For my money, the best way to do it is to have Beavis & Butt-Head showing up to laugh at Sonequa Martin-Green saying "crack." But others might be more into Star Trek's Spock and Picard mixing it up with James Corden and SpongeBob SquarePants. Whatever your taste, the extended ad above has something for everyone. Even Crank Yankers fans.

Michael B Jordan As Hot Alexa

You know how some people seem to be obsessed with artificially intelligent digital assistants? You might think it's because technology makes things easy and saves time, but sometimes it comes down to the person daydreaming that the AI is a total stud muffin like Michael B. Jordan. This Amazon commercial is probably closer to reality than we'd like to think – don't mention that one Netflix show, though – but I mean, is it really a dystopia when Alexa's eyes and voice are so striking and soothing, in that order? (Also, points go to this commercial for having the dirtiest joke of the Super Bowl, when the husband talks about things "getting way too wet around here.")

Tide's Seinfeld Callback With Jason Alexander

Seinfeld vet Jason Alexander had fans excited for his Tide Super Bowl ad ahead of the Super Bowl, and the final product definitely justified the hype. Not in the most normal way or anything, but still. The commercial was already hilarious on the surface for the whole idea of a face-morphing Jason Alexander hoodie, and it went next-level awesome by bringing in the song "Theme from Greatest American Hero (Believe It or Not)," which George Costanza memorably used as his answering machine message on Seinfeld.

Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton's T-Mobile Hookup

Speaking of good-looking celebs, one of the hottest couples in Hollywood right now is Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, who reteamed with former Voice coach Adam Levine for a hilarious T-Mobile commercial that managed to continue Levine and Shelton's faux feud. The ad revealed the "real" way that the two musicians first hooked up. Turns out it wasn't due to their shared duties on The Voice, but rather really shitty cell reception. How dare he wear spurs.

Timothee Chalamet Becoming Edgar Scissorhands For Cadillac

It's not worthy trying to make sense of Cadillac being the company behind this bonkers ad, so just accept the magnificence of Winona Ryder reprising her Edward Scissorhands role of Kim Boggs, with Timothee Chalamet donning the bladed fingers as Edgar Scissorhands. Whether or not fans start yelling for Tim Burton to deliver a sequel to his 1990 classic, this ad still stands alone as a winner of a tribute, as well as the only Cadillac commercial I'll likely remember for the next year.

What is there to say about Schitt’s Creek and Happiest Season’s Dan Levy except that he is practically perfect in every way? And I really do mean every, as he even delighted fans this weekend during his Saturday Night Live debut. The moment that really stood out? A Zillow ad of all things, and the online real estate marketplace even responded to get into the fun after the late night episode aired.

Last night had a few gems, but the one that caught the Internet’s attention was one of SNL’s famous fake ads. The general premise is that where people used to stay up late and get randy in the bedroom, many people in their late thirties are now only interested in browsing Zillow listings. This is a thing a lot of people admittedly do (and may be doing more of during the pandemic) whether or not they’ve hit the big 3-6.

Literally, I could just watch Dan Levy on repeat over and over noting, ‘I’d never live in North Carolina, but if I did I could buy a big, gross mansion.” But the premise as a whole is funny, and apparently Zillow thought so too. Whomever runs the company’s social media feed reached out to Dan Levy after the swell new episode of SNL aired and sent off a funny tweet.

It's not the first time Zillow has tied in with pop culture, but it's probably the most notable. Later, Dan Levy went home and retweeted the moment, cementing it in history. Other people seemed to like the sketch as well, however, mostly because it really seemed to resonate with what is happening in their lives.

Apparently, realtors in particular found the whole thing amusing, as well. So, really, there was nearly universal acclaim for the Saturday Night Live sketch.

Actually, though, if you need confirmation that people outside of their late thirties also deeply identified with the SNL ad featuring much of the ensemble cast and Dan Levy, I got you covered there too.

Meanwhile, SNL as a whole had some other notable moments. The "Cold Open" this weekend was Super Bowl LV-themed and starred Kenan Thompson, which makes perfect sense given the Chiefs play Tampa Bay tonight, and we also got some sketches that were much more Levy specific. Dan Levy and Kate McKinnon (who is also LGBTQ) did an “It Gets Better” spoof that used a bunch of qualifiers about things getting better, but within that “some things that are like, eh, less better.” You can check much of the episode out on NBC.com if you missed it last night.

When the sixth and final season of Schitt’s Creek aired on the Pop TV app and Netflix earlier this year, it was a bittersweet binge fest. The end of the hilariously dramatic series exceeded all expectations and took home a record breaking 9 Emmys. Since gaining a massive following, all eyes have been on Schitt’s Creek’s co-creator, showrunner, and breakout star Dan Levy. Now, it appears Levy's dedication to the show apparently caused so much stress that, at times, he needed a neck brace.

It’s impossible not to see Dan Levy shine on Schitt’s Creek, with his personality radiating through his character, David, and the rest of the Roses. In fact, the overwhelming success of the show can, at least in part, be attributed to uniquely lovable qualities of Levy that he puts into the characters and their relationships with one another. Fans of the show can really feel like they know a part of Levy through their familiarity with the characters on the show.

However, Dan Levy didn't only put his personality and character traits into the show. He has also put an incredible amount of time and self-sacrifice into making Schitt’s Creek exactly what he wanted it to be and in turn, exactly what it should have been. In an interview with Bustle, Dan Levy went into what his days consisted of to make his labor of love, Schitt’s Creek. Be forewarned: while David Rose is a dedicated business owner, his work ethic has nothing on his real-life counterpart.

On a normal day, Levy started work at 5 a.m., rehearsing and making scene rewrites. He would then go to wardrobe to make clothing and accessory decisions for Mama Rose, which is a whole art in and of itself, since Moira Roses’ moods and actions directly linked to her flamboyant clothing choices. After the filming day was done, Levy was not, as he would continue to write for a couple hours before returning home around 8 p.m. And if a 15-hour work day doesn't sound long enough, Levy says that once he was home and had eaten, he would sometimes continue writing until 2 a.m., just to go back in to set at 5 a.m., starting the entire routine over again.

In the same interview, Dan Levy talked about what a huge space Schitt’s Creek took up in his life and the possibility of making room for a love life in the middle of such an ambitious project. Here's what he had to say:

Hearing that Levy may have given up finding love while making Schitt’s Creek may be a downer for some fans, seeing as Levy’s on-screen love connection was so touching and absolute relationship goals. The payoff, though, seems well worth it for both fans and Levy himself.

After six utterly quotable seasons, Schitt’s Creek came to a bittersweet end in April. While the finale was fulfilling for the cast and fans alike, love for the show’s unique humor and authenticity has kept demand for new bingeable Creek content high. There’s good news on this front though: Co-creator Dan Levy has kept hope for a Schitt’s Creek movie alive.

Channeling his inner David, Dan Levy has been named among the Sexiest Men Alive since wrapping on Schitt’s Creek. During his interview for People’s big 2020 Sexiest Man issue, Levy spoke on the possibility of a reunion movie, as well as the thoughts the rest of the cast has on the matter, noting:

This should be comforting to fans, as the loss of any character in a follow-up movie would be a hard hit. The wild success of the Pop and then Netflix show has to be partially credited to the chemistry the characters, as well as the cast, have with one another throughout its run.

Besides the obvious father-son bond of the co-creators and co-stars, Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, Twyla is played by Dan’s sister Sarah Levy. With a strong family base on and off the small screen, fans grew to view all residents of Schitt’s Creek as a bonded, if not dysfunctional, family. Each character brings their own light to the screen and has their own cult following, which is the true mark of a great show.

It’s argued that another mark of a great show is knowing when to stop. Dan Levy has that covered too, stating that any future Schitt’s Creek movie will have to come with time and inspiration:

If Schitt’s Creek came to him in a five Emmy-winning dream, I go to sleep willing a new idea comes to Levy too. Fans won’t have to wait long to see more projects from the award-winning cast, and Levy has already made his mark on another streaming service with his acting chops, leaving us with more than just anticipation for new Schitt’s Creek material.

At long last, Clea DuVall's holiday romantic comedy Happiest Season is finally streaming on Hulu, and the world is a much warmer, and more awkward place because of it. The movie, which centers on a young woman named Abby (Kristen Stewart) as she sets off to enjoy the holidays with her girlfriend, Harper (Mackenzie Davis), but as we all know by now, things become much more complicated than that. And while you have have seen the movie or are planning to, some are probably wondering where they've seen the Happiest Season cast before this laugh-fest of a Christmas comedy.

You've come to right place if you fall into that camp. With actors that have appeared in films like Titanic and shows like Saturday Night Live and Curb Your Enthusiasm, the Happiest Season cast is full of big-name and rising stars. Let's take a look at this cheery bunch.

Kristen Stewart (Abby)

Kristen Stewart is front and center throughout Happiest Season as Abby, a young woman who plans on proposing to her longtime girlfriend over Christmas, only for a wrench to get thrown into the plan. Stewart, will forever be tied to Bella Swan from the Twilight movies, has been a driving force in Hollywood for what seems like decades at this point, with appearances in David Fincher's Panic Room, Jon Favreau's Zathura, and most recently in the 2020 science-fiction horror film Underwater. Stewart is next set to appear in the upcoming Princess Diana biopic, Spencer, in which she will play the Princess of Wales during the end of her marriage with Prince Charles.

Mackenzie Davis (Harper)

Right there beside Kristen Stewart's Abby in Happiest Season is Mackenzie Davis, who plays Harper, her girlfriend who has yet to tell her parents she is a lesbian or in a serious relationship. Although her career is not yet as prolific as her co-star, Davis has been on quite a tear as of late with major roles in Blade Runner 2049, the Charlize Theron-led dramedy Tully, Tim Miller's Terminator: Dark Fate, and most recently in Jon Stewart's heartwarming yet biting political comedy Irresistible. You may also recognize Davis from her small role in The Martian as well as the AMC techno drama Halt and Catch Fire, where she played Cameron Howe in all four seasons.

Dan Levy (John)

Dan Levy, who is definitely best known for his work on the Canadian comedy series Schitt's Creek, shows up as John, Abby's friend who tries to come to her rescue in Happiest Season. In addition to appearing in all six seasons of Schitt's Creek, which he also co-created and co-wrote along with his comedy legend dad, Eugene Levy, the rising star recently appeared on the HBO miniseries Coastal Elites, as well as various programs over the years, including MTV Live from 2006 to 2011. Judging by Levy's success on Schitt's Creek and his performance in this Hulu Christmas movie, this is just the beginning.

Alison Brie (Sloane)

Alison Brie does what she does best in Happiest Season: she plays the annoying and overly intense sister to Harper who's not the biggest fan of Abby. Brie, who has appeared on shows like Mad Men, Community, and GLOW, has become one of the leading comedic actresses over the past decade or so, and is constantly appearing in movies like The Disaster Artist, The Little Hours, and The Lego Movie, though she has also tried her hand at more dramatic roles in films like The Post.

Mary Holland (Jane)

Mary Holland, who co-wrote Happiest Season alongside Clea DuVall, also appears as Jane, Harper's supportive yet awkward sister in the Christmas romantic comedy. Throughout her career, Holland has shown up in some of the biggest comedy television shows of the modern era, including Silicon Valley, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Veep. You may also recognize Holland from her appearance on Michael Bolton's Big, Sexy Valentine's Day Special, the 2017 Netflix variety show that still has a lot of people baffled three years later.

Aubrey Plaza (Riley)

Aubrey Plaza, who has become the queen of deadpan comedy over the course of the past decade, shows up in Happiest Season as Riley, Harper's wealthy ex-girlfriend. Following a one-off appearance on 30 Rock back in 2006, Plaza has become one of the biggest names in comedy with a starring role on Parks and Recreation, multiple episodes of Drunk History, and movies like Dirty Grandpa. Plaza has also done some more dramatic work in shows like Legion and movies like About Alex and the 2019 remake of Child's Play.

Mary Steenburgen (Tipper)

Mary Steenburgen, who is no stranger to comedies with large ensemble casts, portrays Harper's unassuming mother Tipper in Happiest Season. Steenburgen, who often appears alongside her real-life husband Ted Danson in Curb Your Enthusiasm, has had a prolific career in both film and television, with comedies like The Proposal, Step Brothers, Elf, and Melvin and Howard (which netted her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress), but has also shown up in dramas like the 1993 Tom Hanks AIDS story Philadelphia and 2002's I Am Sam.

Victor Garber (Ted)

Victor Garber appears in Happiest Season as Harper's caring yet oblivious father, Ted, which makes for some extremely awkward and close calls throughout the holiday season romantic comedy. For some, Garber will always be Thomas Andrews, the shipbuilder who goes down with his unsinkable masterpiece in Titanic, Elle Woods' professor in Legally Blonde, and one of the victims of his own making in The First Wives Club. Over the years, Garber has also had major roles in shows like Alias and Legends of Tomorrow, as well as film projects like Argo, Sicario, and Dark Waters.

Ana Gasteyer (Harry Levin)

Happiest Season even features the longtime Saturday Night Live cast-member Ana Gasteyer in a supporting role as Harry Levin, a wealthy political donor. Between 1996 and 2002, Gasteyer was one of the most recognizable faces on the long-running sketch comedy program where she made a name for herself with impressions of Martha Stewart and Barbra Streisand, but her most iconic SNL skit has to be the 1998 skit "Delicious Dish: Schweddy Balls" alongside Molly Shannon and Alec Baldwin. Since leaving Saturday Night Live, Gasteyer has appeared in movies like The Women, Mean Girls, and Wine Country alongside several other SNL alums.

Burl Moseley (Eric)

Burl Moseley appears as Eric, Sloane's husband in Happiest Season, but the new Hulu romantic comedy is the only place you've seen the rising star. In addition to having small one-off roles on shows like NCIS, Dexter, and Monk, Moseley has had more prominent appearances on comedies like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, where he played the obnoxious attorney Jim Kittsworth throughout the musical-comedy's run on The CW.

Sarayu Blue (Carolyn)

Another standout from the cast of Happiest Season is Sarayu Blue, who plays Carolyn McCoy in the movie. Over the years, Blue has appeared in smaller roles on Bones, Hawthorne, and Grey's Anatomy, but most might recognize her from the 2020 followup to the surprise Netflix romantic comedy hit To All the Boys I've Loved Before, titled To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, as well as the 2018 John Cena dirty comedy Blockers, in which she portrayed the wife of the wrestler-turned-actor who remained the voice of reason as his character did everything he could to stop his daughter's prom night plans.

Jake McDorman (Connor)

Jake McDorman portrays Connor, Harper's high school boyfriend in Happiest Season. Over the years, McDorman has bounced between more comedic roles in shows like Greek and the 2018 revival of Murphy Brown, but he has also appeared in action flicks such as Live Free or Die Hard and dramatic roles in Clint Eastwood's American Sniper. After leading the CBS drama series Limitless from 2015 to 2016, McDorman currently portrays real-life American astronaut Alan Shepard in the Disney+ limited series The Right Stuff, which is loosely based on Tom Wolfe's 1979 novel and the 1983 movie of the same name.

Michelle Buteau (Trudy)

Michelle Buteau portrays Trudy, the tour guide, in the Hulu Christmas romantic comedy Happiest Season. Buteau, who is a standup comedian in addition to having an acting career, is probably best known for her hosting duties on the Netflix version of the insane reality competition series The Circle. The comedian has also taken on roles in shows like Russian Doll, The Tick, 2 Dope Queens, and the television adaptation of First Wives Club.

Timothy Simons (Mall Security Guard Ed)

Yes, that was Veep's Timothy Simons as one of two angry mall security guards in Happiest Season. Besides playing Jonah Ryan on the award-winning HBO political comedy series, Simons has shown up in movies like Inherent Vice, Yes, God, Yes and The Hustle

Lauren Lapkus (Mall Security Guard Crystal)

The second angry mall security guard in Happiest Season is played by none other than Lauren Lapkus, who recently had a lead role in the Netflix comedy The Wrong Missy. Before that, Lapkus showed up in everything from Jurassic World to Orange is the new Black.

Clea DuVall

Clea DuVall co-wrote and directed Happiest Season. Throughout her career, which goes back to the mid 1990s, DuVall has appeared in teen comedies like She's All That and Can't Hardly Wait, as well as more dramatic roles like in Zodiac, 21 Grams, and Argo. Over the years, DuVall has also appeared in various horror movies like The Faculty, The Grudge, and Ghost of Mars. Happiest Season is DuVall's second feature-length film, having made her directorial debut with 2016's The Intervention.

Christmas movies have a special place in the film world, as they have the potentially to be re-watched annually by families who are celebrating the holiday season. Hulu's Happiest Season is no exception, although the upcoming romantic comedy is breaking new ground in regards to LGBT visibility. Directed by Clea Duvall, Happiest Season follows a lesbian couple (Mackenzie Davis, Kristen Stewart) as they travel home for the holidays and are forced back into the closet in the process. The cast also boasts Schitt's Creek icon Dan Levy, and Kristen Stewart recently shared how she was in awe over his performance during one scene in particular.

Anticipation has been steadily building for Happiest Season, in no small part thanks to the killer cast assembled by Clea Duvall. Moviegoers are especially eager to see the combination of Kristen Stewart and Dan Levy, especially with the actress sharing fun stories from the set. But it turns out that one scene in particular left her awestruck. As the Twilight alum revealed,

Talk about a glowing review. It looks like even Kristen Stewart was affected by the groundbreaking nature of Happiest Season, especially regarding Dan Levy's role as John. Because despite already reading the script and being in the midst of scene, the 30 year-old actress was still taken aback by what the upcoming Christmas movie will represent for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Kristen Stewart's comments to Variety shows just how much Happiest Season means to the iconic actress, which is a feeling that will likely be shared by Hulu subscribers when the movie arrives straight to homes this week. While originally meant for a full theatrical release, Clea Duvall's latest directorial project still managed to arrive in time for this year's Christmas Season. And it seems the movie might inspire some very important conversations with families during this time.

Dan Levy became a household name thanks to his work as showrunner/writer/star of Schitt's Creek. The acclaimed comedy swept at this year's Emmy Awards, so fans are eager to see his role in Happiest Season. For his part Levy was featured prominently in the film's trailer. Check it out below.

Kristen Stewart's press tour for Happiest Season has been chock full of fun anecdotes about working with Dan Levy. This Christmas season, Hollywood has paired together the unlikely, but lovely duo of Schitt’s Creek Dan Levy and Twilight’s Kristen Stewart to play gay best friends in Happiest Season. Sure, Stewart and Levy come from polar opposites worlds as far as the industry goes, but that gave them the opportunity to teach each other something new. Like beer tricks… you know, the usual.

Happiest Season was filmed in Pittsburgh ahead of COVID restrictions becoming the new normal on movie sets. So in between shoots, Kristen Stewart and Dan Levy bonded by going out a lot together. While talking about their time together on set, Levy started explaining the beer trick before cutting himself off and asking her ‘what do you call this act?’ It proceeded into this delightful interaction between the pair on morning television:

K-Stew playfully shook her head at Dan Levy disclosing their beer-to-head experiences, leading the Schitt’s Creek creator, producer and star to also state they had a “cultural side” to their experience, also exchanging books with one another. It’s appearances like theirs on Today that showcase how electric their chemistry is going to be in Happiest Season. You can just imagine the badass Charlie’s Angel actress showing Levy how it’s done with a beer can as he quickly fails.

When CinemaBlend’s Corey Chichizola spoke to Kristen Stewart on the set of Happiest Season, the actress said she was “so in love” with Dan Levy. She also gushed about what he brought to the character of Abby’s best friend, who grounds her character in the midst of her going along with her girlfriend Harper (played by Mackenzie Davis) hiding their relationship from her family while she is there to celebrate with them. As the trailer shows, Levy will even venture to Harper’s home where Abby is staying to pretend to be her ex-boyfriend and hilariously continue the ruse.

Along with Kristen Stewart, Dan Levy and Mackenzie Davis, Happiest Season also stars Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, Mary Steenburgen, Victor Garber and its writers, Mary Holland and Clea DuVall. The movie is skipping theaters to go straight to Hulu on November 25. Every December a handful of new Christmas movies are released, allowing audiences to enjoy themed content for the holiday. This year will be no exception, especially thanks to Hulu's Happiest Season. Directed by Clea Duvall, the upcoming romantic holiday movie focuses on a lesbian couple who go home for the holidays, and must navigate interpersonal issues and the coming out process. The highly anticipated flick stars Kristen Stewart as Abby, and she admitted to falling in love with Schitt's Creek creator/star Dan Levy on set.

Happiest Season focuses largely on a same-sex couple Abby and Harper, played by Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis respectively. When they head to the latter family's home for the holidays, it's revealed that she's yet to come out to her loved ones. All sorts of hijinks ensue, including Abby and her gay best friend John (Dan Levy) posing as a couple. I had the chance to visit the set of Happiest Season last February, where Kristen Stewart revealed how she instantly fell in love with Levy when filming. As she put it,

Dan Levy's character is heavily featured in the first trailer for Happiest Season, and he's clearly got great onscreen chemistry with Kristen Stewart. And it turns out that the story of Stewart's character Abby will be very much tethered to her relationship with John. Their friendship will be apparently pulled off with A+ writing by Clea DuVall and Mary Holland, as well as Levy's performance in the role.

While Kristen Stewart has been a mega-star since she debuted in Twilight, Dan Levy became a household name over the past few years thanks to his work as star, writer, and showrunner of Schitt's Creek. The comedy series swept at this year's Emmy Awards, and his inclusion in Happiest Season will no doubt help entice streamers to tune in.

While there are innumerable Christmas movies available for families, Happiest Season will bring something unique to the table. This is the first time that these types of movies have focused on a same-sex couple, so it's a major step forward in regards to inclusion and representation on screen. Add in that the movie's cast and crew are made up of LGBTQ+ artists, and it's sure to be a project that touches the heart of queer people and their loved ones.

Anticipation for Happiest Season has been steadily building, and luckily the wait for the movie is nearly over. Rather than heading to theaters as originally planned Clea Duvall's romantic comedy will be available to stream on Hulu in a matter of days. And as such, we'll be treated to the chemistry shared between Kristen Stewart and Dan Levy.

Even though it's technically over now, Schitt’s Creek is still on a roll. Following a six-season run that ended in the spring, the sitcom swept the 2020 Emmy Awards with wins in all of the major comedy categories. It was quite a stupendous night for the cast, who seemed genuinely surprised by their incredible winning streak after years of lackluster attention. More recently, Schitt’s Creek Season 6 began streaming a bit early on Netflix and it has garnered another impressive victory on the Nielsen streaming chart.

Schitt’s Creek's final season landed on Netflix on October 3 and it very quickly rose to the top of the streaming service's ranks within the same week of its release. According to Nielsen (via THR), the comedy series earned top-tier numbers to reach first place during the week of September 28-October 4, with U.S. subscribers watching a grand total of 968 million minutes of Schitt’s Creek on Netflix. That is very impressive, especially considering Season 6 wasn't available during that entire week.

The sitcom was already in fifth place on Nielsen’s streaming chart just the week before, and I’d wager that the arrival of its sixth season gave Schitt’s Creek a major boost. Fans who were already binge-watching past seasons of the show likely wanted to continue watching as soon as Season 6 hit streaming in order to learn what happened to the characters in the final season, which would certainly explain how Schitt’s Creek jumped so quickly to the top of the charts. Three cheers for David and the rest of the Rose family!

The heart-warming comedy can add "being on the top of the streaming charts" to its list of 2020 wins. I think its achievements are pretty phenomenal considering the show’s trajectory. Not everyone had even heard of Schitt’s Creek during its early seasons on Pop TV, and my guess is that its audience grew much bigger after it reached millions more eyeballs on Netflix – that’s where I started watching it, too!

After its spectacular Emmy wins, the city of Toronto lit up the CN Tower in honor of Schitt’s Creek. While I doubt that landing at the top of the streaming charts would inspire Toronto officials to light up the CN Tower again, it’s nice to know that the sitcom’s success has become something its citizens can brag about.

Elsewhere on Nielsen’s streaming charts is Ratched, the Ryan Murphy co-created series starring Sarah Paulson, which slipped from first place to fifth place with a total of 791 million minutes viewed during the week of September 28-October 4. Not too shabby after only one and a half months of streaming. Joining Schitt’s Creek in the top five are The Office, The Blacklist, and Grey’s Anatomy, which take up the second, third and fourth slots, respectively. As you can see, the dominating streaming force is still Netflix, with Schitt’s Creek at the top of the list. However, Amazon’s The Boys is maintaining its placement in the top ten as well as the only outlier. I’ll be interested to see how The Mandalorian fares now that Season 2 is streaming on Disney+, though I surmise that Schitt’s Creek will continue its reign somewhere on the charts for some time to come.

Schitt's Creek had humble beginnings. The CBC Television sitcom aired its first 15 episodes in 2015 to little notice and modest praise. But as it continued to find its footing and grow its fanbase, it gradually became one of the most acclaimed and adored comedy shows on television. It was certainly recognized as such when it swept this year's seven major comedy awards — a first for either comedy or drama. The series has been lauded as one of the finest sitcoms in years, even in Peak Television, and there's a twinge of melancholy to this continued success as it came to its close with this year's sixth and final season.

Eugene Levy (Johnny Rose)

In the role of Johnny Rose, the patriarch of the Rose family who attempts to rebuild his family's fortune, Eugene Levy gave one of his most acclaimed performances in the show he helped create and conceive. Receiving his first Emmy nomination in 2019, Levy went on to win this year's Emmy for his outstanding lead performance in this award-winning comedy series. 

As the co-creator alongside his son and co-star, Dan Levy, Schitt's Creek is undeniably his baby and one of his most triumphant successes — though he's had a career full of highlights. Such highlights include SCTV, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, National Lampoon's Vacation, Splash, Father of the Bride, and Finding Dory. He also starred in eight American Pie movies, New York Minute, Like Mike, and Bringing Down the House.

Catherine O'Hara (Moira Rose)

In the role of Moira Rose, the eccentric ex-soap opera star and wife to Johnny Rose, Catherine O'Hara gave another celebrated performance in Schitt's Creek. She won an Emmy this year for this award-recognized role in this hit comedy series. As a comedy veteran, O'Hara drew notice when she was a member of The Second City in Toronto. She later starred in Coming Up Rosie, Beetlejuice, Waiting For Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, and the first two Home Alone movies. She was also seen in Six Feet Under, 30 Rock, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and more. She also provided voice work for Glenn Martin, DDS, Skylanders Academy, The Addams Family, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Frankenweenie, Where the Wild Things Are, Chicken Little, Over the Hedge, and more.

Dan Levy (David Rose)

As David Rose, the spoiled adult son of Johnny and Moira Rose, Dan Levy made a name for himself as a star and co-creator of Schitt's Creek. Made with his father, Eugene Levy, this familial series was undeniably a family effort, and it worked out fabulous for both of them, notably as Dan Levy won a number of Emmys for his work in front and behind the camera. 

His performance also gained notice for being one of the first openly pansexual characters depicted on television. As an actor, Levy appeared in Admission, Stage Fright, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Modern Family. He was also a consultant for the 2011 MTV Movie Awards and narrated The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show last year.

Annie Murphy (Alexis Rose)

In the role of Alexis Rose, Johnny and Moira's spoiled socialite daughter, Annie Murphy took over from Abby Elliott, who was unable to play the part when the show was picked up for series by the CBC. Many critics have gone on to praise Murphy's performance, considering her the show's breakout star. She eventually won an Emmy for her performance in the show's sixth season.

Prior to her role on Schitt's Creek, Annie Murphy starred in The Plateaus, as well as episodes of Beauty & the Beast, Blue Mountain State, Flashpoint, and Rookie Blue. She also appeared in music videos for Hollerado, Little Junior, and, earlier this year, Wild Pink. Now that Schitt's Creek is over, Murphy landed her next leading role in AMC's dark comedy series, Kevin Can F* Himself. Production resumed in September.

Chris Elliott (Roland Schitt)

As Roland Schitt, the mayor of Schitt's Creek, Chris Elliott was the redneck nemesis of Eugene Levy's Johnny Rose in Schitt's Creek. A veteran comic, actor, and writer, Elliott is an Emmy-winning performer and creative who's best known for his roles in Get a Life, Cabin Boy, Eagleheart, Scary Movie 2, How I Met Your Mother, Everybody Loves Raymond, Groundhog Day, The Abyss, Osmosis Jones, Kingpin, and There's Something About Mary. He's also known for his various comedic sketches on Late Night with David Letterman and his appearances on Saturday Night Live. Elliott's also the father of Abby Elliott, who was previously part of Schitt's Creek.

Outside of acting, the comedian is also the author of four books: Daddy's Boy, The Shroud of the Thwacker, Into Hot Air, and The Guy Under the Sheets. Most recently, Elliott lent his voice to The Shivering Truth.

Jennifer Robertson (Jocelyn Schitt)

As Jocelyn Schitt, the mayor's wife, Jenn Robertson played a bright, happy-go-lucky personality in Schitt's Creek. Her performance received four Canadian Screen Awards for Best Supporting Actress. Prior to this role, the actress/writer worked on The Holmes Show, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Comedy Inc., Wingin' It, Canada's Handyman Challenge, The 1/2 Hour News, and several other TV shows, including guest appearances on Hannah Montana and Degrassi: The Next Generation. Robertson also starred in Twitches, Sassy Pants, Undercover Grandpa, Valentine Ever After, and more.

Following the finale of Schitt's Creek, Jennifer Robertson will have a starring role in Netflix's new drama series, Ginny & Georgia. It's expected to come out later this year. The actress is also currently filming a role in the upcoming romantic drama, Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between.

Emily Hampshire (Stevie Budd)

Playing the part of Stevie Budd, the motel clerk (and later owner), Emily Hampshire played a sardonic main character on Schitt's Creek. During her time on this comedy series, Hampshire was also starring in the Syfy drama series, 12 Monkeys. She is also known for Boy Meets Girl, It's a Boy Girl Thing, Snow Cake. The Trotsky, Cosmopolis, Good Neighbours, The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, and mother! She also had a recurring role in Made in Canada, as well as voice parts in Braceface, Atomic Betty, 6teen, Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends, Ruby Gloom, and Mythic Warriors.

Outside of Schitt's Creek's final season, Emily Hampshire recently appeared in episodes of Quibi's 50 States of Fright and the web series Save Me. Next, Hampshire stars in the upcoming horror-drama-mystery, Home, and she'll also play a part in Stephen King's horror-drama series, Chapelwaite.

Tim Rozon (Mutt Schitt)

In the part of Mutt Schitt, the son of Roland and Jocelyn and Alexis' former love interest, Tim Rozon played a lead role during the first two seasons of Schitt's Creek and became a guest star in the third and fourth seasons. In addition to his work in this acclaimed series, Rozon is known for the teen drama series, Instant Star. He also played recurring roles in Wild Roses, Lost Girl, and Being Human.

During his time on Schitt's Creek, Tim Rozon played a main role in Wynonna Earp as Doc Holliday. He was also seen in Flashpoint, Rookie Blue, and Against the Wall. Recently, he starred in films and shows like Lake Placid: Legacy, Diggstown, Christmas Town, and Vagrant Queen. He was last seen in the romantic film, Beginner's Luck. Next, Rozon stars in the series, The Surrealtor.

Sarah Levy (Twyla Sands)

As Twyla Sands, the friendly (if not exceptionally bright) waitress and owner of Cafe Tropical, Sarah Levy was a prominent player in Schitt's Creek. The daughter of Eugene Levy and the sister of Dan Levy, Sarah Levy's involvement in Schitt's Creek keeps the show's focus on family tradition strong. She was previously seen in Larry Crowne, Working the Engels, and XIII: The Series prior to her involvement in this show. She was also her dad's assistant on Cheaper by the Dozen 2.

Outside of her work in Schitt's Creek, for which she was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress, Sarah Levy starred in the short film The Winner Mindset and the TV movie Best Intentions last year, and she appeared in ABC's United We Fall earlier this year. Next, she'll appear in Distancing Socially and the upcoming series, The Surrealtor.

John Hemphill (Robert "Bob" Currie)

Playing Councilor Robert "Bob" Currie, the proprietor of Bob's Garage, John Hemphill provided a cheerful character to Schitt's Creek. A seasoned comedic actor, writer, and producer, Hemphill was a member of Toronto's Second City troupe, as well as a writer for SCTV and frequently on-screen personality. His other TV credits include RoboRoach, The Jane Show, Little Mosque on the Prairie, and Maniac Mansion, the latter of which he created, as well as the TV movies, Hostage for a Day and Sodbusters, the latter of which he co-wrote with Eugene Levy (who directed the film). Hemphill also played bit parts in Adventures in Babysitting, The Man, New York Minute, Goosebumps, and Goofballs.

At the moment, John Hemphill doesn't have his next project lined-up. Or, at least, he hasn't announced it yet — though that's assuming that he's looking to do something else after Schitt's Creek's terrific success.

Karen Robinson (Veronica "Ronnie" Lee)

As Veronica "Ronnie" Lee, a member of the local town council, Karen Robinson played a supporting character who didn't hide her reservations about the Rose family. An actress of the stage and screen, Robinson is known for Against the Ropes, Lars and the Real Girl, The Line, Shoot the Messenger, King, Frankie Drake Mysteries, Morning Show Mysteries, The Gospel According to the Blues, Narc, and Love, Sex, and Eating the Bones. She also won a Canadian Screen Award for her guest role in 2018's Mary Kills People. Following the end of Schitt's Creek, Robinson starred in this month's Learning to Love Again and the short film, Pigs.

Dustin Milligan (Ted Mullins)

Playing Ted Mullins, the town veterinarian and eventually Alexis' boyfriend, Dustin Milligan appeared throughout Schitt's Creek run, though he was only a guest star in the sixth season. Outside of this show, Milligan is best known in 2008's 90210 revival. He also appeared in Final Destination 3, The Butterfly Effect 2, In the Land of Women, Extract, The Messengers, Supernatural, The O.C., Silicon Valley, Shark Night 3D, A Simple Favor, and more. He was also a series regular on Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Most recently, Milligan appeared on —and won — RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race earlier this year. Next, he'll star in Peacock's upcoming Rutherford Falls.

Noah Reid (Patrick Brewer)

In the part of Patrick Brewer, David's business partner and future husband, Noah Reid played a primary role in Seasons 4 through 6 following a recurring role in Season 3. A Canadian actor-musician, Reid notably voiced the lead role in Franklin, and he also did voice work for Babar, Pippi Longstocking, and Jane and the Dragon. He also played regular roles in Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, Backpackers, and Kevin from Work.

As a musician, he's best known for his single "Hold On" in People Hold On, which he also starred in. His albums include 2016's Songs from a Broken Chair and this year's Gemini. He was going on tour earlier this year for the latter album, but such plans were delayed to the COVID-19 pandemic. He'll next be seen in the short film The Cliff and the Road, which he also wrote.

One of scripted television's longest-running institutions, Saturday Night Live, is headed back into production and returning to the studio after its unexpected time airing with pre-taped skits from cast members' homes at the end of last season. While fans certainly admired the desire of the cast and crew to keep the good ship SNL afloat as much as possible under some trying circumstances, you can bet that viewers will be looking to see the legendary skitcom return to something much more like normal in Season 46. With new announcements on who will be hosting and performing as musical guests, it looks like all of our dreams will be coming true.

Every year brings an assorted number of wonders for those who love SNL. We tune in each week for the promise of laughs, fun surprises, wild satire, the occasional shocking (or shockingly funny) screw up and to see what kind of silliness the guest hosts (and possibly musical guests) will be roped into while trying to deliver the funniest possible show. This season will see Kenan Thompson head into his eighteenth season on the live show, further cementing his place as the longest-running cast member for SNL ever, but this promises to be a banner year for the series in other ways, as well.

This is, after all, an election year, and those behind Saturday Night Live are nothing if not truly gifted when it comes to both lampooning politicians and also casting said political figures for the show. We already know that (after sounding like he was totally done with putting in the effort) Alec Baldwin will return yet again to step into the presidential shoes of Donald Trump, a role that won him an Emmy in 2017, with former cast member Maya Rudolph reprising her Emmy-winning part as Kamala Harris.

Word also came down recently that they'll be joined by Jim Carrey, who will take over the part of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden from another former cast member, Jason Sudeikis. Who knows, with the way these special guest appearances are going, we might be treated to Brad Pitt's Dr. Anthony Fauci again. By the way, Pitt's performance also got an Emmy nod this year, so if we see a lot more special guests coming in to play real life people, I wouldn't be surprised.

Meanwhile, we do have our first announcement of who will host and act as musical guest on the Season 46 premiere of SNL, and you really can't be mad at who was chosen. Saturday Night Live will wrap Season 46 with another pair of newbies hitting the 30 Rock stage. The Queen's Gambit star and recent Golden Globe winner Anya Taylor-Joy will host, while rapper Lil Nas X will perform.

October 3 - Chris Rock With Musical Guest Megan Thee Stallion

Hot! Hot! Hot! Chris Rock, of course, is another former cast member, having hit the SNL stage weekly from 1990 to 1993. The actor / comedian / talk show host has been back to lead the festivities at his old stomping grounds twice before, and is funny to his bones, so you know he'll bring his best on opening night. Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is coming off of several hits, including this summer's naughty scorcher "WAP," with Cardi B, and this will be her first time on SNL.

October 10 - Bill Burr With Musical Guest Jack White

Comedian and actor Bill Burr will make his SNL debut on October 10. The Monday Morning Podcast host was most recently seen in The King of Staten Island with Pete Davidson, and The Mandalorian, and his animated family sitcom, F is for Family, will be back for a fifth and final season on Netflix. After a bit of a shakeup, Jack White will step in to act as musical guest on the episode, marking his fourth time rocking the halls of 30 Rock.

October 17 - Issa Rae With Musical Guest Justin Bieber

The star, executive producer, and creator of the HBO hit comedy Insecure, Issa Rae, will mark her SNL hosting debut on October 17. Joining Rae on the show will be Justin Bieber, who will appear as musical guest for the fourth time.

October 24 - Adele With Musical Guest H.E.R.

Music superstar Adele makes her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live with the October 24, episode, after previously acting as musical guest way back in October 2008, and again in November 2015. Ten-time Grammy Award nominee H.E.R. (who won two of the awards in 2019) will make her debut as musical guest on the same night.

October 31 - John Mulaney With Musical Guest The Strokes

Comedian and former SNL writer John Mulaney will hit the stage to host for the fourth time on October 31. Rockers The Strokes will also perform for the fourth time.

November 7 - Dave Chappelle With Musical Guest Foo Fighters

Dave Chappelle returns for his second hosting gig, having previously hit the stage right after the 2016 presidential election. The Foo Fighters will perform as musical guests, for what will be the band's eighth time appearing.

November 14 through 28 - No New SNL Episodes

December 5 - Jason Bateman With Musical Guest Morgan Wallen

Ozark and The Outsider star Jason Bateman will return to host when the show comes back from a three-week break on December 5. This will be Bateman's second time in the job; he last hosted in February 2005. Country music star Morgan Wallen is scheduled as musical guest, after being booted off of the second episode this season when producers found out he hadn't been following their new production guidelines.

December 12 - Timothée Chalamet With Musical Guest Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

Dune's Timothée Chalamet is coming to host SNL for his first time on December 12, while Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be along for their third performance.

December 19 - Kristen Wiig With Musical Guest Dua Lipa

Former cast member Kristen Wiig returns for her fourth hosting gig on December 19, with her starring role as Cheetah in Wonder Woman 1984 heading to HBO Max (and theaters) on Christmas Day. Meanwhile, pop superstar Dua Lipa will hit SNL for the second time.

January 30 - John Krasinski With Musical Guest Machine Gun Kelly

Everyone's favorite prankster from The Office (and star of Jack Ryan and A Quiet Place), John Krasinski, will host when the series returns for the first episode of the new year. Singer/rapper/actor Machine Gun Kelly will appear as musical guest for the first time.

February 6 - Dan Levy With Musical Guest Phoebe Bridgers

Schitt's Creek co-creator/actor Dan Levy will host SNL for the first time on February 6. Rock/indie folk singer Phoebe Bridgers appears as musical guest.

February 13 - Regina King With Musical Guest Nathaniel Rateliff

Oscar, Golden Globe, and four-time Emmy Award winner Regina King will step on the 30 Rock stage for the first time on February 13. Folk and R&B artist Nathaniel Rateliff will perform.

February 20 - Regé-Jean Page With Musical Guest Bad Bunny

Breakout Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page hosts SNL for the first time, and will appear alongside musical guest, rapper, Bad Bunny.

February 27 - Nick Jonas With Musical Guest Nick Jonas

That's right, the actor/singer, known for films like Jumanji: The Next Level and Midway, hosts the last episode of February, and will also appear as musical guest.

March 27 - Maya Rudolph With Musical Guest Jack Harlow

Former SNL cast member Maya Rudolph returns to her old stomping grounds to host for the second time on March 27. Rapper Jack Harlow will hit the stage as musical guest.

April 3 - Daniel Kaluuya With Musical Guest St. Vincent

Two-time Oscar nominee (most recently for Judas and the Black Messiah) Daniel Kaluuya will host SNL for the first time on April 3. Rock/pop performer St. Vincent will act as musical guest.

April 10 - Carey Mulligan With Musical Guest Kid Cudi

Another two-time Oscar nominee (this time for Promising Young Woman), Carey Mulligan, will also step up to host for the first time in April. Rapper Kid Cudi will appear as musical guest.

May 8 - Elon Musk With Musical Guest Miley Cyrus

Tesla CEO Elon Musk will make his debut as SNL guest host for the first episode of May, as the series begins to wind down Season 46. Musk proved to be a rather controversial choice, so we'll see how his inaugural hosting gig goes. He'll be joined by musical guest Miley Cyrus, who's making her fifth appearance as either musical guest or host.

May 15 - Keegan-Michael Key With Musical Guest Olivia Rodrigo

Emmy winner and all around funny guy Keegan-Michael Key will mark his first time hosting SNL on May 15. Meanwhile, another newcomer, singer/actress Olivia Rodrigo will act as musical guest for the first time.
