Daniel Radcliffe is a great actor who will forever be remembered for proudly playing Harry Potter in eight movies of the franchise. The actor put in a lot of work to play the Boy Who Lived, experiencing wand breaks and partaking in intense action sequences in the process. It's fair to wonder if any magical ingredient kept filming from being too stressful for him. Well, as it turns out, the Jewish star admitted that a non-Kosher delicacy got him through the final three movies.

During a segment for LADBible, Radcliffe was given the choice between the American Reuben sandwich and an English bacon sandwich. As Radcliffe hilariously refused to try the Reuben, he couldn’t help but continuously take bites of the crispy bacon sandwich in pure delight. And, despite the bacon sandwich not being so Kosher for Radcliffe, he got honest about how the British toastie got him through the final stretch of his Wizarding World stint:

Bacon sandwiches certainly are forbidden in Kosher food laws. Then again, so are Reuben sandwiches for traditionally mixing corned beef with Swiss cheese. However, I’m not going to judge, as Daniel Radcliffe wouldn’t be the only Jewish person to eat pork. I’ve got to admit that while I’m familiar with BLTs, I’ve never heard of the combo of bacon and ketchup. But, hey, if it helped the London native get through filming the last three Potter films, who are we to argue? Check out the full video down below:

I can understand why the Merrily We Row Along actor needed a guilty pleasure to get him through shooting the final Harry Potter movies. Radcliffe has spoken about “intense and so crazy” set days he experienced while shooting Half Blood Prince. At one point, he was underwater on a wire, only to come up for air being in the middle of a ring of fire. Talk about anxiety-inducing!

Those strenuous moments of production even predate the last three movies. In Goblet of Fire, Radcliffe also almost drowned filming the infamous Black Lake sequence, which includes his “craziest” stunt, where he free-fell 40 feet down off a roof. So, considering that Radcliffe gave so much to fans by fully committing himself to his role as Harry, I'd say the least we can do is not chastise him for enjoying some bacon now and then.

As a person of the Jewish faith myself, I'd definitely call Radcliffe something of a rebel though, in fairness, many of us have our guilty pleasures when it comes to food. When it comes to Radcliffe's love of bacon, though, I don't think I'll ever forget this funny little piece of Potter lore.

Daniel Radcliffe has been as busy as ever these days. He wrapped up his run in Every Brilliant Thing on Broadway in May, with his narrator role being taken over by Mariska Hargitay. Radcliffe also lent his voice to Pizza Movie (streaming via Hulu subscription), and stars in NBC's already renewed The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, one of the funniest comedies to hit the 2026 TV schedule so far. Radcliffe has been in the industry since he was little, and co-star Erika Alexander shared a sweet take about what it’s like being on set with him.

The mockumentary sitcom premiered in January and was officially renewed for Season 2 in May. Radcliffe stars as Arthur Tobin, a documentary director, and it is just the latest role in his extensive filmography that spans almost three decades. Despite his many roles and his long Hollywood career, Radcliffe is still a genuinely nice person, according to Alexander, who's been a TV star for as long as he's been alive. She shared this with Entertainment Weekly’s The Awardist podcast:

You never know how a celebrity is going to act, especially the longer they’re in Hollywood. It’s not so surprising to know how sweet and genuine Radcliffe is, though, because every video I’ve seen of him, he just seems like a good person, most recently from fans on TikTok who saw him in Every Brilliant Thing. The fact that even after just filming the pilot for Reggie Dinkins, Radcliffe was already missing his co-stars is just so nice to hear.

His love for his co-stars only grew once the show got picked up. Alexander recalled small things that Radcliffe did on set, and while she compared him to a therapy dog, it sounds like he’s really the protective brother who is willing to do anything and everything for his siblings. Not only that, but he’s as professional as ever, and it’s just what everyone needs to keep filming on track:

Filming with someone like Daniel Radcliffe, who grew up in Hollywood and who people grew up with, can be intimidating. So I love that he’s actually really nice and sweet. This also makes me even happier that Reggie Dinkins is coming back for Season 2 following the praise from critics, because I can only imagine how Radcliffe would have reacted knowing that he wouldn’t be seeing his co-stars every day.

Now that he doesn’t have Every Brilliant Thing to keep him occupied, I wouldn’t be surprised if Radcliffe is counting down the days until production on Season 2 starts. At the very least, he may be keeping in constant contact with his co-stars. Any time a cast is genuinely friendly with each other, it makes the series or movie even better, and I’m so glad we don’t have to worry about any problems with Reggie Dinkins. A premiere date for Season 2 has not been given, but fans can watch the first season now with a Peacock subscription.

Following in the footsteps of Richard Harris and Michael Gambon, John Lithgow is set to play Dumbledore in the new Harry Potter TV series. Set to join the 2026 TV schedule in December, we’ll get to see the 3rd Rock From the Sun actor sporting the long beard and being a magical mentor to The Boy Who Lived. Speaking of magic and The Boy Who Lived (in the movies), Daniel Radcliffe actually ran into Lithgow at his show, and naturally, they talked about Harry Potter.

Last month, Daniel Radcliffe did wish to meet John Lithgow and speak about the anticipated Harry Potter series. Well, dreams came true at the Lithgow's Broadway show Giant. The Harry Potter alum told People what meeting the new Dumbledore actor was like, and, of course, his magical new HBO series was involved:

Aww, that already sounds like something Albus Dumbledore would do. It’s a breath of fresh air to know Lithgow is bonding well with the young stars and that filming is going well. Previously, the Dexter star spoke of what a “big decision” it was to take on playing the Hogwarts headmaster, knowing it would be at least an eight-year commitment.

As Lithgow assumed this could be the last big role he’d do in his career, he picked a great one, as he'll get to spread Dumbledore’s wisdom to a new generation. Plus, you’ve gotta admit he looks kind of like Richard Harris when he portrayed the magical role in the first two Harry Potter movies.

Back in 2019, Daniel Radcliffe said he knew a reboot series would be inevitable, but would be “intrigued” to see when that moment came. Now that we’ve got an HBO series coming to the streaming schedule in December, here’s the Tony winner’s reaction to John Lithgow’s positive praise of his new series:

With The Wizarding World coming back to life once again with a new generation of actors in the iconic roles, it’s good that everything is going swimmingly. As Daniel Radcliffe has taken on movies, TV shows, and Broadway since his Harry Potter run, he’s already said we shouldn't hold out hope for a cameo in the HBO series. I can’t say I blame him, as the upcoming TV show should be a project of its own.

However, the Miracle Workers actor did say he’s already looking forward to watching the fantasy revival series once it hits streaming. I already can’t wait for him to send out positive praise for the new series and John Lithgow’s performance.

When asked about letting his kid in on this part of his life, Radcliffe credited a funny-but-tragic Matt Damon story that inspired him to keep his son from learning he’s Harry Potter famous.

Daniel Radcliffe has previously spoken about how kids don’t recognize him as Harry Potter anymore, which seems to be the reaction he hopes his own son has. The topic came up while he was out enjoying a date night at the Tony Awards with his partner, Erin Darke. Radcliffe used to get stressed out whenever he was recognized as Harry Potter, but now he’s putting the films into a "which is best" bracket.

It’s lovely to see him jumping back on board the train and enjoying it along with the fans, which sometimes includes other actors. When he met Mariska Hargitay, who took over his role in Every Brilliant Thing, she shared with him an emotional story about how she was the real Harry Potter. The actor has been reported as being curious and thoughtful whenever being told stories like this. Although, despite the love for the role, Radcliffe doubled down on keeping his kid out of this loop, saying:

Well, while he'll keep him away from the movies, I am curious to know if they'll watch the show. The actor is not part of the upcoming reboot, though he has shared his thoughts on who he thinks would be fun to play in the HBO series. His answer is not surprising, given his admiration for Gary Oldman and the love he has for the character of Sirius Black. It’s fun to think about what it’d be like if Radcliffe took on the mentor role for the new Harry, but it’s doubtful we’ll ever see him step back into the wizarding world.

I know when I read that Mariska Hargitay literally told Daniel Radcliffe she was the real Harry Potter, I couldn't fathom what exactly she meant. However, the actress dove into detail about why she felt the urge to tell the actor behind The Boy Who Lived this, and I have to say, this story packs a surprisingly emotional punch.

For context, Hargitay is taking over the role Daniel Radcliffe originated in the Broadway play Every Brilliant Thing. However, before she made her Broadway debut in the play, she got to get to know Radcliffe a bit. As they bonded, she had to tell him that she's, in fact, the real Harry Potter, as she recalled to People:

Instead of looking at her like she was crazy, Hargitay described the actor as having already embraced what she was going to say before she said it. It’s no secret that in the past, Radcliffe has been reluctant when the subject of Harry Potter came up. He’s often spoken about how it used to stress him out to be known as Harry Potter. However, in recent years, he has re-accepted the role with open arms.

It's no surprise that he would embrace what she had to say. Mariska Hargitay remembers the conversation vividly, especially Radcliffe's astonishment when he discovered that she was the girl who lived. She shared:

This emotional moment solidified something between them. The accident in which she lost her mother, Jayne, occurred when she was 3 years old, leaving her with a noticeable scar. You can learn more about her mother in My Mom Jayne, which is a heartbreaking documentary about her late parent. But just a heads up, the ending will make you cry. When sharing this story with Radcliffe, she showed him the perfect lightning shape across her forehead. The same that he wore for eight films. She explained that she was very excited about all this, saying:

Mariska Hargitay spoke fondly about the actor, describing him as lovely and gushing about how she thinks the world of him. She dished that the two even send each other videos.

This isn’t the first bonding moment Radcliffe has shared backstage. The actor has previously spoken about the one piece of advice he gave Tom Felton before his Harry Potter Broadway debut.

With Hargitay's time on stage, many have been concerned about how it could impact Law & Order: SVU. However, they can rest easy as SVU has been renewed and her role in this play will last for a limited time. Starting in July, Tracee Ellis Ross is expected to take over the role. Meanwhile, the iconic show will remain part of the 2026 TV schedule as it goes into its 28th season.

One of the things about book-to-screen adaptations that fans will likely never fully agree on is whether the actors are exactly right for the characters they're portraying. The topic of Harry, Ron and Hermione's casting for the original Harry Potter movies is tricky, I think, because on one hand, none of the actors cast for the roles perfectly fit the description, and yet, it's hard to imagine anyone else playing them. But what did J.K. Rowling think about Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint when she first met them? Apparently, she thought they were all too good-looking, but there's more to it than that.

As of this writing, I have just over an hour left of the final Harry Potter full-cast edition audiobook to listen to, and then I'll be sad it's over all over again (possibly sadder than I was while listening to that one scene in Book 6). Listening to Audible's new full-cast editions of J.K. Rowling's beloved, magical series has made me a bit nostalgic about the movies, which is how I ended up poking around in the bonus features of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. It was there that I came across the interview Daniel Radcliffe and J.K. Rowling did with each other in the 2012 bonus feature, which includes the conversation they had about her first impressions of him, Grint and Watson when they were cast to play their characters. On that subject, she started with:

While there are definitely differences between Harry and Radcliffe (like their eye color), and Ron and Grint, the differences between Watson and Hermione might be brought up the most. Hermione is described as having big teeth and bushy hair in the book. While the movies did seem to try to add some volume to her hair in the first two, let's face it, Emma Watson has always been beautiful.

Rowling brought up meeting Watson for the first time, and she prefaced this by saying it was lucky she'd met her over the phone beforehand, because it sounds like Watson exuded Hermione energy during that conversation, but didn't quite look how the writer envisioned her character. Here's how Rowling described both interactions, starting with the phone conversation:

If you're a fan of the books, you know that Hermione's appearance at the Yule Ball in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a total glow-up. She had her teeth shrunken down a bit (following a mean spell cast on her by Malfoy that elongated them), and went to extra lengths to tame her hair for the big dance. Radcliffe brought this scene up with Rowling during their conversation, specifically questioning if they shot themselves in the foot for this scene in the movie, since she was already beautiful, to which Rowling agreed with a laugh:

Of course, Hermione was never described as ugly in the books, and Rowling made that clear by adding:

I think it's interesting what she said about the character having the choice to "become a little more groomed and glamorous." From how she put it, this was intentional for the character in the book, but I think we can all agree that it gets lost in the movie.

Hermione being a geeky girl who's brave, smart and vital to the success of so much that happens in the story is what makes her such a great character, and that's more than enough. If I recall correctly, she was actually a bit put off by how much work it took to get her hair fixed up, which seems very on brand for the character. She can make herself look glamorous if she wants to, but it's not going to be her top priority. Still, as Rowling said, "it's a film." She'll continue to see the character as she does in her imagination, the same way we can when we read the books if we want.

As much as I would've loved to see Hermione get a true glow-up in the movies, it's not a major game-changer for the plot that the film's Hermione is beautiful from the start. However, I do appreciate Rowling's sentiment here, particularly as she sounds more than satisfied with how Emma Watson played the role.

Fans already have takes about the casting for the upcoming Harry Potter TV show. And there will undoubtedly be more opinions once the series premieres this holiday season. In the meantime, I strongly encourage you to give the new Audible full-cast audiobooks a shot if you're a fan of the books and/or love audiobooks. I've had so much fun listening to them. It's almost like getting to experience the story all over again.

As we inch closer to the Christmas premiere of HBO’s Harry Potter show, there has continued to be interest in how the movies’ ensemble feels about the new cast. Most recently, Daniel Radcliffe spoke about one of the actors set to play a major role in the series, while also admitting that he’s excited to ask him about this new book-to-screen adaptation of Harry Potter.

The actor in question is John Lithgow, who is playing Dumbledore in the HBO show. This all came up because Radcliffe and Lithgow are both nominated for Tony’s this year. So, while discussing their work on stage with ET, the original Harry Potter actor also chatted about how he’s “so excited to meet” Lithgow and “grill him about the upcoming Harry Potter TV series,” as the caption noted.

During the interview, Radcliffe was asked about being nominated alongside Lithgow, and he said:

Right after that, the interviewer said, “I was gonna say…” while footage of Lithgow as Dumbledore played over the clip. In response to that, Radcliffe said:

I can’t say I blame him. I would too! Radcliffe grew up on the Harry Potter movies (which you can stream with an HBO Max subscription), and to this day, it’s what he’s best known for. Also, John Lithgow is an absolute legend, so it tracks that the Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins actor wants to chat with him about what’s to come on the 2026 TV schedule.

Overall, it’s clear that Daniel Radcliffe admires Lithgow a lot. As I mentioned, this all came up because both men are nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play at the Tonys. While the Harry Potter actor is being recognized for the play Every Brilliant Thing, the new Dumbledore actor was nominated for Giant, which Radcliffe couldn’t help but gush about:

Well, talk about high praise! And the fact that he’s also playing Dumbledore in this new show must make matters even more exciting.

Considering how close Harry is with the headmaster in Harry Potter, the legends who played him in the movies (the late Michael Gambon and Richard Harris) and the icon that’s taking over the part, it’s no wonder Radcliffe has “so many questions” for Lithgow.

I’m sure he’ll get to ask them too. I mean, the two actors should both be at the Tonys. Plus, we know Radcliffe sent the show’s Harry, Dominic McLaughlin, a letter when he was cast. So, I’d assume that if the opportunity arises, he’d also take a moment to ask the new Dumbledore about the project, too.

Harry Potter ultimately proved to be the role of a lifetime for the then 11-year-old Daniel Radcliffe. After producer David Heyman convinced the young actor’s initially hesitant parents to allow a meeting to cast their son as The Boy Who Lived, the rest was history. Radcliffe, now an adult with a child, is still renowned for his performance in the Potter movies. As much as the actor embodied the role in various ways, many might still notice that he doesn't have green eyes in the film like his counterpart in the book. Well, Heyman revealed the story behind that change.

One compliment that Harry always gets throughout the books is that he has his mother’s green eyes. That sentiment about the character's eyes remains in the films, but it's Daniel Radcliffe natural blue eyes that are shown throughout the movies. In a video shared to the official Potter Instagram account, David Heyman explained that the original plan was for Harry to have green eyes, but a health concern changed all that:

Honestly, I can imagine what an uncomfortable experience that could've been for Radcliffe. This is a particularly interesting Sorcerer’s Stone BTS fact and, as I just found out, during an interview Radcliffe did with the BBC years ago, he discussed how “excruciatingly painful” it was for him that he expressed never wanting to wear contacts again. I can’t say I blame him, as it was hard watching the David Copperfield actor in the Instagram video squinting his eyes as contacts were put in.

If you can believe it, the first scene shot in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was the final scene on the Hogwarts Express. As David Heyman continued to talk more about why he wasn’t willing to put Daniel Radcliffe through contacts again during his run of the franchise and, after hearing this tidbit of information, you won’t watch that film's ending the same way again:

What a trooper! On the other side of that, though, I thought Radcliffe’s eyes were reddening due him acting out that goodbye scene with Robbie Coltrane's Hagrid. So, now, I know the green contacts were actually to blame for that. However, I'd still say that in an ironic way, the puffiness around Radcliffe's eyes worked in the production's favor. Heyman previously recalled how “special” it was filming that early scene with Radcliffe and Coltrane, remarking how moving it was shooting it as it had been when he first read it in J.K. Rowling's 1997 novel.

So, whether it was the emotion of saying goodbye to a good friend or the irritation from those contacts, the final result still captured the necessary emotion needed for the scene. Watch the Instagram video in full down below, which includes behind-the-scenes footage:

Ultimately, it was a good call by David Heyman to rid Daniel Radcliffe of the green contacts due to that allergy. This stylistic choice also seems to have carried into the reboot, as first teaser for HBO's Harry Potter TV series shows lead actor Dominic McLaughlin with blue eyes while playing the boy wizard. I'm not sure if any of that will be changed in post-production but, regardless, when it comes to Potter's eye color, I'm more for safety than book accuracy.

That franchise (which is streaming with a HBO Max subscription) made household names out the Potter cast, who grew up before our eyes. Chief among them was Daniel Radcliffe himself, who used to be stressed when fans saw him as The Boy Who Lived. Although now it looks like his perspective has changed.

Daniel Radcliffe recently did a Harry Potter movie bracket, so he's obviously more comfortable with his tenure at Hogwarts when when he had just finished the franchise. In an interview with Rolling Stone, to which the actor said:

Points were made. The Harry Potter films are constantly re-watched to this day, so there are entire generations who were brought up on Daniel Radcliffe performance as the title character. And the Tony-winning actor seems to think this is actually a good thing, as it will encourage them to try out some of his other credits from the screen and stage.

Radcliffe has heard every Harry Potter joke imaginable, and has also likely been accosted by countless fans over the years. Later in the same interview, he went on to explain how he was originally insecure about his ties to his signature character. As he put it:

Of course, Radcliffe has proven himself as an accomplished stage actor, recently winning the Tony for his work on Merrily We Roll Along (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription). But in the beginning of his time on the stage he was seemingly worried about the perception he was only hired due to his work on Potter. Luckily that's not the case anymore.

Soon enough there will be new Boy Who Lived, thanks to the upcoming Harry Potter TV show. We'll just have to see if this makes Daniel Radcliffe any less synonymous with his time in the Wizarding World. Personally, I'm not holding my breath.

I would have never expected this, but Bobby Moynihan, yes, of Saturday Night Live fame, was a part of a significant Harry Potter moment for Daniel Radcliffe. However, the comedian hilariously could contribute nothing to it. Radcliffe was hosting an episode of the comedy show, and realized a Potter-based sketch may have been his final performance as the titular character. Now, the former SNL star has shared the story behind what happened, and why he felt the way he did in the moment.

Moynihan is currently working alongside Radcliffe in The Fall And Rise Of Reggie Dinkins (which you can stream with a Peacock subscription), so the fact a Potter story might come up is not that unusual, and he talked about his co-star during an appearance on the Daily Beast's Obsessed podcast. He and Radcliffe were working on a sketch where Harry Potter returned to Hogwarts, trying to relive his glory days, and the moment got a little heavy:

If Daniel Radcliffe were looking for someone who understood the gravitas of what it meant to play Harry Potter for the last time, Bobby Moynihan was not the person. Of course, he undoubtedly knew of the franchise and how beloved the movies were, but as he went on to say in the podcast, a true fan might've died to be in that same position.

I know the quote may make it seem like Daniel Radcliffe might've had second thoughts about Saturday Night Live being his final Harry Potter portrayal, but the actor has famously rejected the idea of returning to the role. Now, with a new HBO series on the way, the odds of him reprising the role feel slim to none, though he's joked about playing other characters in the show.

Context is always important, however, and I need to point out that this Saturday Night Live sketch aired in January of 2012. It was close to six months after the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, which makes it feel much more impactful. It also explains the potential pressure Bobby Moynihan felt, and why he felt obligated to bring up that he never saw the movies. I'm curious if he'll be tuning in with others to watch the series when it is available with an HBO Max subscription.

Cinephiles watched as the Potter cast grew up before our eyes, especially Daniel Radcliffe himself. And now that the Stranger Things series finale has aired for those with a Netflix subscription, he's got some A+ advice for the young cast. And yes, an F-Bomb is involved.

Stranger Things fans watched the young cast grow up throughout the show, and they've got some thriving careers. And now that their time in Hawkins has reached its end, Radcliffe knows exactly what they should do next. During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Tony-winning actor spoke about some interactions he had with the Stranger Things kids. In his words:

There are a few debates that never really die online, and ranking the Harry Potter movies is definitely one of them. Radcliffe’s top choice? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. And honestly, it’s hard to argue with that. It’s the payoff movie. The one where everything that had been building across eight films finally comes together. The Battle of Hogwarts, the emotional resolutions, the sense that this entire story is actually reaching its end. It delivers on a scale that the earlier movies were setting up for years.

He’s said that choice comes down to how he feels about his own performance, but for me, it’s more about the film itself. It’s just never been one I fully connected with. That said, it does lay the groundwork for one of late Alan Rickman’s most powerful Snape moments: the “always” reveal, which ultimately pays off in Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

That’s what makes the Swiss Army Man star's whole response feel so refreshing. It’s not a curated answer or trying to line up with popular opinion. It’s just how he feels about the movies he spent a decade making.

If you needed proof that there’s no single “correct” ranking, Tom Felton recently threw a wrench into things. Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, has said his favorite is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which is not exactly the pick most fans expect. But from his perspective, it makes sense. That's certainly a heartening message, one that many people out there might need to hear. The Harry Potter icon has been able to find true happiness in his 30s after having some major mental health struggles. And if he can do it, so can others who might think that the future is looking bleak.

Considering the level of global fame Radcliffe dealt with at a young age, it's certainly understandable that it became an untenable situation. He's got a perspective on what it feels like to be in a low place, as well as what it's like to reach the other side. And now he's living his best life with a family and a thriving career.

The first season of Your Friends & Neighbors was something of a surprise hit, leading to a Season 2 renewal. The show sees Jon Hamm as an unemployed hedge fund manager who maintains his lifestyle through theft. Season 1 saw him reject a chance to return to his old life; what his new one has in store, we'll have to wait and see.

Pizza Movie - April 3 (Hulu)

Every generation needs a great stoner comedy, and Pizza Movie, available this week with a Hulu subscription, might just be it for this one. The film stars Stranger Things’ Gaten Matarazzo and Sean Giambrone as college roommates who get high on an unusual and potent new drug, and then discover the only thing that will mellow the effect is pizza, which they’re now far too high to safely obtain.

Merrily We Roll Along - April 4 (Netflix)

Some of the greatest acting performances are found on the Broadway stage, but most of us don’t have an opportunity to see them. Luckily, the Tony Award-winning revival of Merrily We Roll Along was given the professional filming treatment similar to Hamilton and Disney’s Frozen musical. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, this may be the best time to make your way down to Broadway. That's because both Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe are currently in shows at the Big Apple’s theater center. Felton reprised his role as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to riotous applause back in November, while Radcliffe’s show, Every Brilliant Thing, opened earlier this month. With that, Felton welcomed Radcliffe back to the stage with a great gift that called back to their Wizarding World days.

Felton, who is still buddies with Radcliffe, has previously cited his Harry Potter co-star as one inspiration for him to head to Broadway in the first place. Here’s what the Draco performer revealed about the cheeky way he honored his friend and colleague:

Felton shared the story on the Happy Sad Confused podcast which dropped this week, but it must have been recorded weeks ago since the actor said he had just seen Radcliffe in Every Brilliant Thing on opening night the evening before. While Felton’s co-star on Cursed Child thought gifting Radcliffe Harry Potter’s wand would be just the right thing to do, Felton (who’s known him for the past 25 years) liked the idea for trolling-related reasons. As he added:

As Felton shared, “taking the piss” (i.e: mock, tease, ridicule) out of a friend is kind of a classic way for Brits to show love for each other So I'd hope Radcliffe really felt the love while doing his new show for an audience. The pair of Harry Potter actors took these reunion photos a few days before Every Brilliant Thing officially opened:

Cursed Child and Every Brilliant Thing are playing six nights a week just a block away from each other. I can't help but wonder how often the pair might grab lunch together now that they’re in the same place until the end of May. This almost feels like a situation in which someone is working down the street from one of their high school friends – though, in this case, it's not high school but blockbuster franchise instead.

At the same time, both actors have a lot to be excited about career-wise. Daniel Radcliffe is in one of the newest NBC series, The Fall And Rise of Reggie Dinkins, while Tom Felton is in a newly released horror comedy, They Will Kill You, which is getting good reviews from critics. It’s been so long since the HP film series ended that there’s a TV adaptation of Potter coming out amid the 2026 TV schedule later this year. Despite that passage of time, it's great to see Felton and Radcliffe still connected through the Wizarding World and are both thriving on stage.

Daniel Radcliffe spent more than a decade playing the Boy Who Lived, but that doesn’t mean he always knew what was happening behind the scenes of the Harry Potter Universe. In fact, the actor recently called out a pretty funny gaffe in The Devil Wears Prada. And once you hear his explanation, it’s hard not to laugh.

During a recent conversation about books and reading habits, Radcliffe reflected on how closely the cast of Harry Potter was kept in the dark about upcoming storylines. In a new interview with Bustle, the actor remembered a specific subplot from The Devil Wears Prada where someone in publishing could get their hands on an early copy of a new Harry Potter book. He said the cast had a very different reaction when they saw that moment in the film:

For anyone who remembers watching the iconic 2006 fashion movie, Radcliffe is talking about the storyline involving Anne Hathaway’s character scrambling to obtain the unpublished manuscript of the next Harry Potter book for Miranda Priestly’s daughters. In the film, landing that manuscript is portrayed as the ultimate impossible task. According to the Swiss Army Man star, though, it was even more impossible than the movie suggested.

The actor explained that most of the cast had no idea what was coming in the books. Despite starring in the book-to-screen adaptations, they weren’t given special access to upcoming plot points. That secrecy became something of a legend around the franchise, particularly as the later books contained huge twists fans were desperate to keep unspoiled.

The one notable exception was the late Alan Rickman, who spent the series absolutely crushing the villainous performance—until the story revealed there was much more going on beneath the surface. As Daniel Radcliffe noted, Rickman was famously given key information about his character’s long-term arc by author J.K. Rowling early in the process. That insight subtly shaped his performance across the films, something many fans came to appreciate once the franchise’s biggest revelations finally came to light.

But for the rest of the cast, things were much more mysterious. Radcliffe has previously said that reading the books was a major part of his childhood and that the series helped fuel his love of reading. However, that didn’t mean he had a backstage pass to the story as it was unfolding. Recent years have been a struggle for network TV comedies, with seemingly fewer than ever, both on the new and returning side, to compete with an endless number of streaming options. The silver lining, at least, is that the majority of the 30-minute time slots on the 2026 TV schedule are filled with top-tier efforts, from St. Denis Medical to Ghosts to — [cue Daniel Radcliffe miming a happy trombone] — The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. Tracy Morgan’s latest is already among his greatest, critically speaking, and it’s thankfully gaining an attentive audience.

For those still unaware, Reggie Dinkins stars Morgan as a former athlete whose career scandalously imploded, making life more difficult for his agent and ex-wife Monica (Erika Alexander) and his luxury-loving son Carmelo (Jalyn Hall). In steps documentary filmmaker Arthur Tobin (Daniel Radcliffe) to bring Reggie back to his former glory, despite having his own fall from grace (that involves a great on-screen meltdown from Radcliffe). Also, Bobby Moynihan is in the mix and is absolutely amazing.

Everyone should be watching this thing, and it looks like a lot of people are, so let’s talk about it.

Reggie Dinkins Is My Favorite Robert Carlock Co-Creation Since 30 Rock

Just to quickly champion this thing for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is another match made in comedic heaven between Tracy Morgan and 30 Rock co-creator Robert Carlock (who co-created the new NBC show with Sam Means). It's as silly and reality-skewing as everything in the creative team's filmography, including Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and peppers runtimes with so many jokes that pausing and rewinding can be necessary.

Even though it's the umpteenth mockumentary series to hit network TV, and though that format is inherent to the hilarity, every character immediately feels fleshed out and familiar, which allows for the jokes to fly without tons of needless set-up. Plus, any time the footage jumps back to a previous cringe-laden point in Reggie's career, it's automatic gold. If this show was only Tracy Morgan pronouncing words with five or more syllables while Erika Alexander gets increasingly frustrated, it'd still be a winner.

Reggie DInkins' Audience Numbers Are Solid

Unlike most winter debuts, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins dropped more than a month ahead of the season's official start for a prime post-NFL time slot. The ep brought in a highly impressive 5.8 million Live + Same Day viewers, with an even more impressive 1.4 demo rating with viewers aged 18-49. Also at the time, it was noted as being NBC's biggest comedy series premiere in the three years since Night Court.

Now, according to Variety, the premiere episode has racked up nearly 13 million views across delayed viewing, the time-slot repeat, and those streaming via Peacock subscription. That marks a viewership gain that surpasses 100% across the episode's first 50 days.

Naturally, the follow-up eps in the regular Monday night slots without the NFL lead-in haven't done quite as well as the premiere, but also haven't been too shabby. The premiere's repeat hit 3.8 million, with the second episode following it up with a 2.63 million viewers. That number dipped again, with the third episode bringing in 1.96 million viewers.

That said, Variety also pointed to Peacock reporting that Reggie Dinkins' second episode, "Nittany Means Big," is currently the platform's most-watched comedy episode of the 2025-2026 TV season. Which would seemingly put it somewhere over the 3-million mark. Better than the numbers for shows airing at the same time on Fox and The CW, but still trailing its direct competition, CBS' DMV, which brought in 2.89 million.

Everyone Still Needs To Keep Watching!

Despite some of those totals noted above being solid for a broadcast TV comedy, that's no reason for anyone to assume that they're going to 100% stay so high for the rest of the season. I mean, the evidence is already there that the live audience watching on Monday nights has dropped. Which is a perfectly normal pattern for nearly every TV show in existence. But the point is to keep that number from getting any lower.

It sounds like enough fans are watching on Peacock to make up for it, at least for now, but I cannot stress enough how important it is for everyone to hype the bejesus out of this show to make sure NBC knows to renew it ASAP and keep Reggie Dinkins' sordid existence in our faces for as long as can be.

That’s been proven time and time again over the years; however, most recently, Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe showed their adoration by way of a magical reunion on Broadway.

Now, this all happened because both Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton are in Broadway shows at the moment. Felton is reprising his role as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Meanwhile, Radcliffe is making his return to The Great White Way in a play called Every Brilliant Thing, and that’s what the Malfoy actor showed up to support, as he posted on Instagram:

While Radcliffe and Felton reunited a few months ago when the Fackham Hall actor took over as Draco in Cursed Child, it’s always wonderful to see them supporting each other. It’s very fitting that this happened now, too, seeing as Radcliffe just made his return to Broadway in Every Brilliant Thing, which is a one-man show about a man who makes lists to “remember what he is grateful for and what keeps him motivated and moving.”

It’s wild to think that it’s been nearly 25 years since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone premiered and 15 years since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 concluded the series. Truly, it’s been a long time since these guys worked together on-screen, which makes their sustained support of each other even better.

Really, they have consistently been there for one another as they take on new projects. During this shared era on stage, specifically, Radcliffe has given Felton advice about making his Broadway debut, and the Harry Potter actor was sweetly shocked that the Malfoy actor looked to him for inspiration.

However, I wasn’t shocked by that at all. The two men have always spoken highly of each other, and I can totally see why Felton asked Radcliffe for advice. While they’re both seasoned stage actors, the Swiss Army Man star has been in many Broadway shows over the years, and he won a Tony award for his work in Merrily We Roll Along in 2024. Of course, his former co-star would look to him for guidance and inspiration as he made his Broadway debut.

If you want to feel old, here’s a reminder that Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe is 36 and father to a toddler right now. Now I’m both cracking up and making “aww” noises over what it’s like for the actor to raise his son in America with his partner Erin Darke.

Radcliffe reportedly became a father in April 2023, which makes his son nearly three years old already. Since Radcliffe has been spending most of his time living in New York City lately, he was recently asked if he’d consider his first born to be American. His response:

It was during a new interview with Today that Radcliffe got honest about what’s going on with his son’s accent, since his parents have different accents (Radcliffe’s partner, Darke, was born in Michigan, and a longtime New Yorker). Currently, the toddler’s accent is a mix of American and English, and he called it rather “bizarre.” As he added:

Daniel Radcliffe has previously called parenting the “best thing that’s ever happened,” while also getting really candid about how “intimidating” it can be to have a human being in the world he cares so much about at times as well. Him and Darke were seen early on taking their son to a SAG-AFTRA protest during the actor strikes.

Daniel Radcliffe has also talked about how being on Broadway while having a baby is actually ideal because he can spend more time with him when “he’s awake and alert.” Radcliffe is currently doing a Broadway show called Every Brilliant Thing, which officially opens on March 12, and will run through May 24. The one-man-show includes audience participation and follows an unnamed protagonist trying to name “every brilliant thing” as the title suggests.

At the same time, Radcliffe is also in a new NBC comedy called The Fall And Rise Of Reggie Dinkins, which has been called “catnip for 30 Rock fans” and has earned a 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. The series also starring SNL alums Tracy Morgan and Bobby Moynihan is about a disgraced football star (Morgan) who hires a filmmaker (Radcliffe) to make a favorable documentary about him.

Three episodes are currently available to stream on Peacock. New episodes air Mondays on NBC, and the next day on the streaming service. Whilst fatherhood had Radcliffe saying he’d be “a little more selective” after his son’s birth, it’s great to see the actor thriving on stage, screen as well as raising his son with Erin Darke.

To be fair, both Swiss Army Man, in which Radcliffe plays a corpse, and Guns Akimbo, in which he plays a guy who ends up with handguns fused in both hands, are really great movies that you should see.

I mean, it’s true that Elijah Wood and Daniel Radcliffe were both in major fantasy franchises around the same time. That said, they’re not exactly similar franchises, the two actors don’t really look alike, and Wood is a decade older than Radcliffe. Of course, with a new Harry Potter series on the way, perhaps fewer people will remember Daniel Radcliffe from Harry Potter as time goes on. There will still be plenty of things for fans to know him from. Hopefully, all the movies he was actually in.

In many cases, actions can speak louder than words and, given the circumstances, I think a hug is appropriate.

Who knows when McLaughlin and his predecessor might get to finally meet in person, but the sentiment from Radcliffe is sweet. I do appreciate that a lot of the OG Harry Potter actors are giving the new generation space to find their own place in the Wizarding World. The Harry Potter movies were so immersive and successful, there’s already a pressure to match the standard set, if not exceed it, without the former actors telling you how to play your role.

I personally would love to see a red carpet meet-up involving the new and veteran casts when the HP show premieres in early 2027. But, given some of the OG stars have had somewhat tense relations with author and series EP J.K. Rowling over her controversial comments, there’s no guarantee Radcliffe, Watson, or Grint would show up.

However, they clearly are very supportive of the young actors carrying on Harry Potter’s legacy. As a fan myself, I am curious to see how HBO puts its spin on this fictional universe.

When I watched the second episode of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins to air on the 2026 TV schedule, I couldn’t help but think about the movie Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Now, I realize that’s an odd connection to make; however, it happened after Bobby Moynihan’s character, Rusty, made a joke about the comedic musician in front of Daniel Radcliffe’s character, Arthur. Notably, Radcliffe also played Weird Al in the comedic biopic, so I had to ask Moynihan if that connection was intentional.

Now, in the show, Rusty jokes that Weird Al released a single about Reggie called “Food Poison” and starts singing it. Then, in true mockumentary style, the camera cuts to Radcliffe’s character, who is looking through boxes and unbothered by the singing. It’s a hilarious bit by itself, because the SNL vet's singing is loud and very random. However, it’s even funnier when you remember that the Harry Potter actor literally played Weird Al in a movie. What makes it even better? Well, Bobby Moynihan told me that it was a total accident, explaining:

Now, while the joke clearly evolved, and what we see on screen is Moynihan singing, I love that it started as improv.

Back in 2022, Radcliffe played Yankovic, and Weird was met with praise and love. Truly, it’s a hilarious take on the comedic singer’s life, and it added an incredibly fun movie to Radcliffe’s eccentric and unique filmography.

So, that’s all to say, the odds of Weird Al seeing The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins and this joke about him were much higher than Moynihan had originally realized. Speaking to that point, the Hoppers actor said:

Truly, this is such a happy and serendipitous accident. Like, what are the odds you improvise a bit about Weird Al in front of the actor who played him without realizing it?

Before learning this story, this joke was one of my favorites in the show, mostly because it was done in the presence of Radcliffe and I love Weird. That's because it highlights his comedic skills as well as his ability to commit to a bit.

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins does that, too. From using Racliffe's stunt training in silly action-packed moments to looking at the camera at the perfect time, he’s giving a comedic performance that is just as great as the ones his legendary comedic co-stars, Tracy Morgan and Bobby Moynihan, are giving.

Overall, I love that all this was highlighted through this totally unexpected moment, too. It showed off Moynihan’s ability to improvise while also being a brilliant callback to the comedic work of Daniel Radcliffe’s past.

While the Triwizard Tournament’s underwater task looks seamless and magical onscreen, the reality of shooting Harry’s dive into the Black Lake was far more intense — and at one point, genuinely panicked. And the moment prompted a pretty brutal response from the stunt coordinator.

In a clip from Hot Ones, shared on the show’s official Instagram, Daniel Radcliffe was promoting his 2026 TV schedule comedy Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins when he was asked about the underwater sequence. The host wanted to know if he really spent nearly 42 hours submerged while filming and whether he ever used a drowning signal or had any close calls. Radcliffe’s answer was refreshingly honest. He admitted that during training for the scene, there was one brief but chaotic moment that led to a blunt response from his stunt coordinator. He explained:

There’s something so British about that response. The Horns star admitted the underwater shoot was no small undertaking. While the 42-hour figure has been widely cited, what’s even more staggering is how little usable footage they were actually getting after days of intense stunt work. He continued:

Rewatching the Black Lake scene now hits differently with that context. The serene bubbles, the eerie quiet, the slow drift of hair in the water, all of it came from weeks of physically taxing work. It wasn’t simply CGI wizardry. For the beloved Potter actor, trained extensively to hold his breath and perform underwater sequences with minimal cuts, which makes the final result even more impressive.

What really seals the story, though, is Greg Powell's perfectly timed line. It was blunt, maybe even a little merciless, but also reassuring in its simplicity. Radcliffe clearly took it to heart. He powered through one of the franchise’s most technically challenging shoots and delivered a sequence that still stands out decades later. And somehow, it’s comforting to know that even The Boy Who Lived had a split-second of panic — and a stunt coordinator ready with a no-nonsense reality check.

Somehow, it’s been over 13 years since we bid farewell to Tina Fey’s Liz Lemon and the rest of the TGS crew on 30 Rock, and for those who are still mourning the loss of one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, the crew is back with something new for the 2026 TV schedule. The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins premiered February 23 (after a post-NFL sneak peek in January), and critics who have seen the full first season are sharing their thoughts on Tracy Morgan’s new comedy.

Reggie Dinkins apparently exists in the same universe as 30 Rock, so keep your eye out for easter eggs. Tracy Morgan stars as the titular ex-NFL star, who hires a documentary crew in hopes of rehabbing his image after a gambling scandal. The comedy comes from 30 Rock showrunner Robert Carlock and writer Sam Means, with an ensemble cast including Bobby Moynihan, Daniel Radcliffe and Erika Alexander. Those 30 Rock connections are definitely felt, according to Matt Goldberg of The Wrap, but the new series stands out by subverting expectations. The critic writes:

Tania Hussain of Collider says the NBC series puts a fresh spin on mockumentaries, thanks to Daniel Radcliffe’s Arthur Tobin. His motivations mean the cameras filming Reggie are more of a liability to the characters than a gimmick like in other series. The critic gives it 9 out of 10 and explains:

In The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, NBC’s newest comedy on the 2026 TV schedule, Daniel Radcliffe plays a documentarian named Arthur who is tasked with filming the life of Tracy Morgan’s titular character. However, it’s quickly revealed that he has a complex past like the guy he’s documenting, and we get to learn about it through hilarious BTS footage of a fake Marvel movie. It turns out that action-packed sequence starring the Harry Potter actor was executive producer Tina Fey’s idea, and thank goodness the actor had some stunt training to pull it off.

In the pilot of Reggie Dinkins, it’s revealed that Arthur got an offer to direct a Marvel movie after winning an Oscar. However, “he couldn’t handle the pressure” of the superhero flick, he freaked out, and he “tanked the whole project.” Tragically for Arutur, and thankfully for us, there’s footage of his meltdown. And it involved Daniel Radcliffe’s character absolutely losing it while a guy hung in the air surrounded by tennis balls. According to co-creators Sam Means and Robert Carlock, this hilarious moment all happened because of Tina Fey, too, as they explained:

• Sam Means: Speaking of Tina's role in this show, we actually filmed a totally different version of that originally.
• Robert Carlock: It was really just the meltdown. It was just the kind of the breakdown.
• Sam Means: And it was great, because Daniel's great, and he totally committed, and it was all good. But it just wasn't as fun, you know?

Fey was determined to make it more fun, and that’s what led to moments like Radcliffe whacking the tennis balls aggressively with a racquet and then hilariously falling off the stage. That is one of the reasons why Radcliffe’s stunt training came in handy. Speaking to all of that, Carlock told me:

Well, Radcliffe’s Harry Potter stunt work certainly came in handy here, seeing as when he worked on the Wizarding World films, he fell off a roof, and in this show, he had to fall off a platform.

While I’m sure his days on Reggie Dinkins weren’t nearly as “intense” and “crazy” as Harry Potter in the action department, the moment on this fake movie set is quite action-packed. So, I’m sure everyone involved with this scene was happy he had the training in his back pocket.

I’m also happy Tina Fey came up with this idea for the show that’s set in the 30 Rock universe, because the moment is so funny. It gives us insight into Arthur’s past in an extra and unexpected way, and it gives Radcliffe a chance to show off some of his other skills as a performer. In fact, this all worked out so well that it will come up again in the show, as Carlock explained:

Well, get ready for that, folks, because I’m sure it’s going to be just as funny as that first scene we got to see of Arthur’s Marvel movie meltdown. And it’ll be exciting to see the other version of this breakdown that was filmed before Fey came in with her pitch.

Daniel Radcliffe has had a very successful acting career post-Harry Potter. More recently, not only has the British actor’s Broadway show, Merrily We Roll Along, made tons of money, but he’s got a new NBC show with Tracy Morgan, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. Regardless of how far he's come, though, Radcliffe still fondly reflects on his time making the Wizarding World movies. To that point, the actor recently revealed the co-star who would crack him up on set.

There’s no doubt Radcliffe got to work with some incredible veteran actors who made up the Harry Potter cast. From Dame Maggie Smith to Alan Rickman, the former child star sure had plenty of talented people to learn from. During his appearance on Hot Ones, the Primetime Emmy nominee spoke about the one actor who always made him laugh on set, and this is such a great pick:

Michael Gambon replaced the late Richard Harris in the role of Albus Dumbledore starting with Prisoner of Azkaban, and he truly brought a commanding presence to the role. What was also great about Gambon’s performance as the Hogwarts headmaster was the subtle moments of humor he conveyed, like Dumbledore admitting he loves knitting patterns or being confused when Harry and Hermione came back from time-traveling.

While Dumbledore mostly had to be a serious sage of a wizard, it sounds like the actor who portrayed him was a goofball in real life. To that point, there was even a time when Gambon pranked Daniel Radcliffe with a farting machine on set. Radcliffe also gave a hilarious example of one way Gambon would serve as a troll on set:

That's a wild acronym if there ever was one, and Gambon apparently had an affinity for such jokey puns even when filming serious scenes. In Half-Blood Prince, there's an intense, third-act sequence that sees Harry and Dumbledore embarking on a dangerous mission to obtain a Horcrux. The actual vibe on set, however, was apparently quite different, according to Radcliffe:

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall to hear the Irish-English actor dropping such quips. If you ask me, the Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou alum sounds just as delightful as Dumbledore himself.

Michael Gambon passed away in 2023 and, at that time, Daniel Radcliffe paid tribute to the Shakespearean actor, calling him “silly, irreverent and hilarious.” Interestingly enough, one of the fascinating tidbits the Swiss Army Man actor shared on Reddit years ago was the fact that Gambon hilariously showed him how to shoot a dueling pistol while he held a cup of coffee in his other hand. In short, Gambon was a legend if there ever was one

While it's been well over a decade since production wrapped on the Potter film series, I still love hearing behind-the-scenes stories. These tidbits help shed light on the filmmaking process but also help humanize the people in front of and behind the camera. Michael Gambon's work won't be forgotten and, with Daniel Radcliffe and others continue to reminisce about him, his good humor will surely also be remembered.

Folks who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order are always looking to the future, and fans are especially interested to see who will play the X-Men in upcoming Marvel movies. Some people want to see Daniel Radcliffe play Wolverine, but he recently described taking on the mantle after Hugh Jackman as a "cursed chalice".

After Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, the door was finally open for mutants to join the MCU. While the OGs of the X-Men movies are back for Avengers: Doomsday, new actors are expected to take on their roles in future projects. Radcliffe has been a popular online choice for Wolverine, and in an interview from ScreenRant's TikTok he addressed the ongoing chatter. In his words:

This isn't the first time Radcliffe has laughed off those rumors, and it sounds like he doesn't have much of an interest in actually playing Wolverine. But given his ongoing popularity from the Harry Potter movies, as well as his status as a short king, fans are likely going to keep the discourse going until another actor is officially named as the next Logan.

This chatter about him playing Wolverine has been going on for years now, especially once Radcliffe put on some muscle. But later in the same interview, he shared why he really isn't interested in taking on the role so famously played by Hugh Jackman. In the actor's words:

He's not wrong. Jackman has been playing the clawed mutant for decades, so whoever tried to take on the mantle will have some very big shoes to fill. That's seemingly a big reason why Daniel Radcliffe isn't entertaining the idea of playing Wolverine; it's too daunting of a task given how synonymous the Greatest Showman actor is with that role. So, while "cursed chalice" was an unexpected way to describe all this, it does make a lot of sense.

In the years that have passed since playing Harry Potter, Radcliffe has established himself as an accomplished and versatile star of movies, TV, and Broadway. It's been fascinating to see his choice of projects, even if some fans still want him to play Wolverine in the MCU.

Throughout the 2000s, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson were some of the most famous young actors in Hollywood thanks to their leading roles in the Harry Potter movies. So while playing Harry, Ron and Hermione took up a lot of their time, that didn’t stop the trio from being pitched other movies to work on. One of them was a bizarre remake of The Wizard of Oz that Radcliffe immediately knew wouldn’t work.

The Harry Potter actor recalled this experience while appearing on Hot Ones to promote his new NBC comedy series The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which premieres in its normal timeslot on the 2026 TV schedule February 23. When asked by host Sean Harris about “bizarre or unique” pitches he’s said yes to, Radcliffe instead went in the opposite direction, saying:

Um… what? I would love to pick the brain of the person who came up with that bonkers idea. I can at least understand wanting Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson to lead an adaptation of another popular fantasy novel, and I could see Watson at that age playing Dorothy. But it all falls apart with The Cowardly Lion busting out karate moves, and Radcliffe was not impressed with the premise. He continued:

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious to learn more about this Wizard of Oz remake and if it had any weird twists on Scarecrow and Tin Man. However, I agree with Daniel Radcliffe that we’re better off with this movie not being made into reality. Just the thought of seeing The Cowardly Lion karate-kicking flying monkeys is cringe-worthy.

Besides, it’s not like we’ve been lacking in new takes on Frank L. Baum’s original 1900 novel over the last few decades. Disney delivered Oz the Great and Powerful in 2013, and, of course, we went down a different kind of prequel route in 2024 and last year with the two-part adaptation of Wicked. Then on TV, there was the then-Sci-Fi Channel’s Tin Man miniseries in 2007 and the short-lived series Emerald City that aired on NBC in 2017. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz will continue to be adapted in various ways, but the one Daniel Radcliffe was pitched just wasn’t necessary.

We all watched the stars of the Harry Potter films grow up before our eyes over the course of a decade. The eight-movie franchise was an absolutely herculean task, and it’s still more than a little amazing that it turned out as well as it did. It’s equally surprising that, given how often child actors have difficulties later in life, the cast of Harry Potter has all turned out pretty well.

Credit for this is often given to the fact that, while the child stars of Harry Potter were unknown, many of the adult roles were played by some of the greatest British actors who have ever lived. Certainly, working with them helped the young stars learn how to handle themselves. Not so fact, say Daniel Radcliffe, who recently told ScreenRant:

It’s a fair point that makes a great deal of sense when explained just like that. While the kids undoubtedly learned something from their adult counterparts, much of it was likely unintentional. The majority of the kids' scenes were together, but without other adults, or at least not with the same adults over and over again. Everybody there was doing a job, and they all tried to do it well, and then they went home. Many actors were there just as long as the kids, but others had much shorter tenures in the franchise.

While Radcliffe says he got close with some of the adult actors, the group that he, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint truly became close to were the crew, as they, like the child actors, were with them the entire 10 years they were making the Harry Potter movie. Radcliffe continued…

The former Harry Potter clearly get a little annoyed by the entire situation as he mentions that when the legendary John Hurt passed away, people asked him for a comment, which was something he simply wasn’t able to give because he felt he didn’t know John Hurt all that well considering the short time they spent together. Meanwhile, nobody asks him for a comment when an accomplished Second Unit Director passes away. Radcliffe said…

For the record, Jamie Christopher was an incredibly prolific director who was the first assistant director: second unit, for all eight Harry Potter movies. He also worked on several Marvel Cinematic Universe films and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Christopher died of heart complications in 2023 at the age of 52. Fantastic Four: The First Steps was dedicated to his memory.

Radcliffe’s advice for the cast of the new Harry Potter TV series was to trust the crew, because as they were for him, they will likely be there every step of the way.

Saturday Night Live resumed Season 51 on the 2026 TV schedule in January, with Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard as the host. The actor made his SNL hosting debut on January 17, and it was as entertaining as ever. Not surprisingly, there was a Stranger Things spoof that had many people talking. However, the Harry Potter sketch also went viral. Now, Daniel Radcliffe has shared his thoughts on it, and revealed that the episode's host had clued him in before it happened.

The Harry Potter sketch mirrored Heated Rivalry, with Wolfhard playing the titular wizard while Ben Marshall played Ron, as they realized their feelings for each other and tried to keep it secret. That is, until a very NSFW game of Quidditch. The sketch, which also included a surprise cameo from Jason Momoa, has been going viral. And yes, the OG Harry Potter himself has seen it. Radcliffe told Rolling Stone what he thought of it, and how Wolfhard gave him a heads up, saying:

It’s nice that Radcliffe is able to have a good sense of humor for the Harry Potter x Heated Rivalry sketch, especially since it paints Harry in a pretty interesting light. It’s unknown just how much Wolfhard told Radcliffe about the sketch, but it’s also nice that he was able to clue him in before it happened. Of course, this is not the first time the world of Harry Potter has been spoofed on SNL, and it can be assumed that this won’t be the last, but this is definitely an unforgettable take on the fantasy series.

Then there’s the fact that Radcliffe has never even seen Heated Rivalry (which you can stream with an HBO Max subscription), so there were certainly some things he didn’t get. However, his girlfriend has seen the show, so she probably had a ball watching the sketch. Perhaps she can talk him into watching Heated Rivalry so he can truly appreciate the sketch. The only thing that would have made it better is if Radcliffe appeared in it, but the Momoa cameo was a great alternative.

Meanwhile, even though it’s not Heated Wizardry, HBO is developing a new Harry Potter series that's expected to premiere sometime in 2027. It’s said to be a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved fantasy book series, so there will be a lot to look forward to, including moments that weren’t in the films.

With Radcliffe starring in NBC’s new sitcom, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, perhaps he’ll be making his way back to Studio 8H in the near future to give his own Harry Potter spoof. Maybe even a Stranger Things one to even the score with Wolfhard. But for now, fans will have to settle with “Heated Wizardry” from Wolfhard’s SNL episode, which is streaming with a Peacock subscription.

Jonathan Groff is a Tony-winning star of screen and stage, first coming onto the scene for playing Melchior in the Original Broadway Cast of Duncan Sheik's Spring Awakening. Since then, he's starred in both TV and film, while also regularly going back to his roots in the theater. There's plenty of Groff projects to stream, with the newest being a pro shot of Merrily We Roll Along, the show that earned him a Tony. While renting it, I got emotional about how much his projects have meant to me over the years.

I'm a theater kid who was obsessed with Spring Awakening when it debuted on Broadway back in 2006. The offbeat musical has a cult following, and it's been thrilling to see Jonathan Groff's career skyrocket over the last two decades. So as Merrily We Roll Along tells a story of friends across 20 years, I couldn't help but think about how long I've been watching Groff, and his projects that have made me feel seen.

Merrily Tells A Story Across Years, And I Got Emotional About How Much Jonathan Groff's Career Has Meant To Me

Merrily We Roll Along also starred Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez, and the show's narrative moves backwards across 20 years to show how a trio of friends' relationships were formed and ruined. This meditation about time and the entertainment industry admittedly made me misty about how long I've been following Groff's career-- both on the stage and screen.

While his acclaimed performance in Hamilton (which is streaming with a Disney+ subscription) helped make Jonathan Groff a household name, musical theater nerds had been watching his talents for years. That includes him in Spring Awakening, which was groundbreaking for its depiction of young people (and queer folks). I've also seen him in other musicals like Hair and A New Brain, although his full-time TV gig is one that I still love to this day. Namely, the queer dramedy Looking, which is streaming with a HBO Max subscription.

Looking ran for two season (and one movie) starting in 2014, and told a story about a group of gay friends living in San Francisco. The show was felt super authentic and made me feel seen long before we started talking about the importance of LGTBQ+ representation on screen.

I regularly re-watch Looking to this day, largely thanks to the epic love story between Jonathan Groff's character Patrick and Raúl Castillo's Richie. In the years since that show ended, Groff has continued booking big gigs like Netflix's Mindhunter, The Matrix Resurrections, as well a playing notable queer characters in A Nice Indian Boy and Knock at the Cabin. Coming out might have been difficult for him as a young person, but he continues to deliver authentic LGBTQ+ characters over the years across various genres.

While his character Franklin in Merrily fails to be there for his friends, Jonathan Groff's career has consistently moved me, as well as other queer fans. And although a Merrily We Roll Along movie is in the works by Richard Linklater, I doubt I'll be quite as moved. I just feel super thankful for Groff's career, and the ways he's shown up for gay folks throughout the years.

The Harry Potter movies are wildly popular to this day, with fans regularly re-watching them with an HBO Max subscription. This means that the Potter cast has remained synonymous with their roles, including Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton. The latter actor has returned to Draco Malfoy in The Cursed Child on Broadway, and got some advice from Radcliffe about treading the boards on the Great White Way.

Felton and Radcliffe recently reunited in person, warming the hearts of their generations of fans. Radcliffe has likely experienced this in all of his roles on the stage, given just how many fans love his work as Harry Potter. And he wanted to make sure the Draco Malfoy actor didn't allow this to mess with his performance in The Cursed Child.

It turns out that his advice was spot-on. A video of Tom Felton's Broadway debut shows that the audience went absolutely crazy the first time he appeared as his signature character. And I have to assume this is still happening weeks into his run in the Harry Potter stage play.

This message was an important one for Daniel Radcliffe to give to his Harry Potter co-star, even if their busy schedules prevented them from meeting up in person prior to Felton's Broadway debut in mid-November. In the same interview, The Boy Who Lived revealed how important his wisdom was, saying:

Points were made. While the audience erupted during Felton's first entrance as Draco, I have to assume that some entrance applause is happening during every performance. Luckily, he got the heads up, and was prepared to stay in character despite the cheers and screams that occurred.

From butterbeers to chocolate frogs, these magical treats look like quite the spellbinding experience. The fantasy franchise’s lead, Daniel Radcliffe, got real on not minding most of the eating scenes…except for one that he described as “pretty gross.”

In a 2020 episode of First We Feast, host Sean Evans asked Daniel Radcliffe about “one highlight and one lowlight” when it came to the food scenes of Harry Potter. Here was the British actor’s answer for the “highlight,” and I don’t blame him:

In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, one of the major challenges The Boy Who Lived went through was having to survive three life-threatening tasks in The Triwizard Tournament. Just when you thought the most “intense and so crazy” tasks Daniel Radcliffe did were underwater training for that scene, he also had to eat something that was “pretty gross:”

Looking back, Daniel Radcliffe looked really disgusted in the scene when Harry eats the gillyweed before being pushed into The Black Lake. Maybe it wasn’t all acting. But yeah, black licorice is a candy I never have any interest in trying. Especially after hearing the Swiss Army Man actor’s story.

Getting to have an English breakfast during filming sounds like a real feast, but eating black licorice lace sounds like torture. But whether delicious or dreadful, the cast of Harry Potter still had plenty of food throughout the movies to satisfy their appetites. Now, this makes me wonder what kind of unique foods the cast of the upcoming HBO Harry Potter show will have to give a whirl.

With the new HBO Max Harry Potter show in production, and slated for a 2026 release, it’s just a matter of time before we sit down to stream it with an HBO Max subscription. Just yesterday, the first image from the new Harry Potter set arrived, featuring our new Harry Potter, Dominic McLaughlin, decked out in Gryffindor garb. Naturally, the internet went wild, but current Saturday Night Live cast member, Chloe Fineman, highlighted how similar she looks to McLaughlin’s Potter. And the comparison is absolutely spot on.

All along the way, we’ve been privy to casting, storylines and goings on among everyone attached to the new Harry Potter project. But now that we’ve reached this new stage, with the tease of McLaughlin in costume, things are getting real. A surefire sign of attention ramping up, too, is anyone attached to SNL referencing a project, and Chloe Fineman’s Instagram comparison is hilarious and uncanny.

The post features the still released from the HBO Max set and the impressionist in a dark wig and similar round glasses. Honestly, it took me a minute to realize that the images are, in fact, of two different people. Without further ado, take a look for yourself:

Needless to say, I’m floored and obsessed. Fineman’s cheeky caption adds to the lookalike fun, as she said: “Cats out of bag! I’m playing Harry! 🪄” I already loved how this new actor perfectly captured Harry Potter in this first image, but I somehow am more thrilled that he and the comedian could be twins with a little help from wardrobe. I’m just bummed we won’t have any more substantial material to work with on the 2025 TV guide, as mentioned previously.

Unsuspecting viewers, like me, easily mistook McLaughlin for Fineman, and it really has me hyped for her future material. Ideally, for this coming season of the historic late-night show, I’d love to catch her in her HP era every Sunday morning with my Peacock subscription.

However, no cast member’s status is truly solidified yet. Speculation about the cast for Season 51 is still all up in the air, but hopefully, it will be confirmed sooner rather than later. I do feel like Fineman will be back, because she's been on the show for six seasons, and has become a heavy hitter on it. To reiterate, she’s a major featured player and has been prominently featured in some of the biggest modern moments, like the viral Domingo sketch alongside Marcello Hernadez and Andrew Dismukes. So, if she wants to return, I assume she will.

All the same, I’m brewing up a spell in hopes that we’ll see Fineman doing her best Harry Potter impersonation regularly as the Harry Potter series inches closer to its release, mostly because I won’t be able to separate the two in my head.

The Harry Potter movies turned three young, unknown actors into global movie stars. There’s a pretty solid chance that the upcoming Harry Potter TV series, which will be available with an HBO Max subscription, will do the same thing for the three unknowns cast in its lead roles. The father of Emma Watson certainly understands this better than most, as his daughter’s success also changed his life, so he has some advice for the parents of the new stars.

Speaking with Times Radio (via The Independent), Chris Watson gave his support to the parents of the young stars who were chosen to play Harry, Ron, and Hermione. While the newfound celebrity will surely be difficult for Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout, it will also be something for their parents to navigate, which Watson admitted could be “scary” for all involved. The lives of these three actors are about to change in a big way, and that means the lives of the entire families are going to change as well. As exciting as it is, it’s not hard to see why it’s also scary. All three of the actors who starred in the films have spoken about how the fame surrounding Harry Potter changed them, and how it hasn’t always been for the best. Chris Watson, however, may have one of the best solutions to helping to deal with the celebrity of the whole thing. It seems he doesn’t really watch the films; it’s unclear if he’s ever seen them. Apparently Emma Watson’s parents have never made the movies a big deal themselves, which may have helped Watson not get too overwhelmed by it all growing up. He continued…

At this point, it feels like Emma Watson’s dad may be the only person on the planet who doesn’t watch the Harry Potter movies. The franchise is still incredibly popular, which is exactly why we’re getting this reboot of it all in the first place. A year from now, we can expect to see the faces of these three actors pretty much everywhere. One hopes that they, and their families, are ready for it all.

History has no shortage of child actors who had a hard time transitioning into adulthood, with or without the same stardom. All three of the original Harry Potter stars were able to do it, so listening to whatever advice is available probably isn’t a terrible thing for the new stars and their parents to do.

When Harry Potter went from the page to the big screen, it changed the face of YA franchise forever, along with its cast, including Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. As the kids were goofing off and growing up on set, Jany Temime, who first joined during the Prisoner of Azkaban as the costume designer, helped them jump from kids to young adult looks. Temime, who’s worked on James Bond installments Skyfall and Spectre spoke with Deadline about her thoughts of the future of 007 along with remembering her time on the Hogwarts set. She joined for the aforementioned threequel, Prisoner of Azkaban (streaming with a Max subscription), alongside director Alfonzo Cuarón. The two both agreed Potter and his classmates needed to be more tangible to teen audiences after having a few years of being students under their belts, in her words:

To me, I think it was the right move, I still remember noting the shift watching it the first time and it certainly didn’t hurt my viewing experience. The somewhat overlooked detail could be a factor in why some fans continue to watch all the Harry Potter movies time and time again. It’s something I never would’ve thought to pay attention to in regards to how the peers age in the 8-part saga but now I’m curious to rewatch and pay closer attention to the clothing updates beyond the one mentioned above.

Temime also opened up about her experience working with the younger cast growing up in front of her. That’s when she spilled a bit of tea in regards to all the puppy loves that were buzzing around playing ping pong on the HP set, by saying:

Admittedly, I’m not Harry Potter crazy like I once was, but the kid and tween in me is dying over this hint at behind-the-scenes love and intrigue. Chalk it up to being a part of the target demo when the books, and then movies, first released, but I’d love to sit down with Temime to get that full scoop. I’d love to sit and speculate but if we even skim the surface of that rabbit hole, we could easily be here for another 8-part epic.

Even though Temime’s buzzy rumored statement will be sitting at the back of my head for the rest of the day, fans have been treated to plenty excellent extra content including the Harry Potter reunion special. There are popular franchises, and then there's the global sensation that is Harry Potter. The Wizarding World has entertained audiences for decades thanks to the Harry Potter movies (which are streaming with a Max subscription), as well as theme parks, stage plays, video games, and the original novels. Jason Isaacs famously played Lucius Malfoy, and told the story about why filming his first scene with Daniel Radcliffe was so unexpectedly special.

The bonds formed by the Harry Potter cast are still going strong today, as we saw during the Return to Hogwarts reunion. But new information is still trickling out about their time filming the series. Case in point: when Isaacs appeared on the podcast Dinner's On Me, he shared what surprised him the most when filming The Chamber of Secrets. Namely, the cast's ability to improv. As he put it:

He cited the fact that author J.K. Rowling wasn't on set, therefore allowing the actors more freedom than if she wanted each scene to be accurate for the book to screen adaptation. While speaking to host Jesse Tyler Ferguson, he explained why he started to ad-lib while filming with a young Daniel Radcliffe. In his words:

Given the beloved nature of the Harry Potter franchise to that point, who can blame Isaacs for having this reaction? Although now I have to wonder exactly what he was improvising as Draco's villainous father while on set. Did any of these lines make it into the theatrical cut? I need more information!

While Jason Isaacs developed a strong relationship to his onscreen son Tom Felton throughout filming the Harry Potter movies, the same can also be said for Radcliffe. Later in the same conversation, he spoke about recognizing the talent and intellect in the latter actor, offering:

We'll have to wait and see if/when Daniel Radcliffe takes the jump from acting to directing. He's had an impressively eclectic career over the years, spanning both the stage and screen. So why not get behind the camera?

The Wizarding World has entertained audiences for years thanks to the novels, theme parks, stage plays, and (of course) the Harry Potter movies. Those titles (which are streaming with a Max subscription) featured Daniel Radcliffe in the title role, and he recently had some funny comments about possibly returning for the developing Harry Potter TV show.

The Harry Potter cast was led by a young Radcliffe, who grew up before our eyes as the Boy Who Lived. Fans are wondering if he might ever return to the franchise in a Cursed Child movie or the forthcoming TV show. In a TikTok by TheMovieDweeb, the 35-year-old actor was asked what role he'd like to take on for the small screen. He responded cheekily, saying:

Honestly, relatable. It sounds like Radcliffe would like to spend as little time on the set of the Harry Potter TV series as possible. Considering the decade he spent filming the movies, I can't say I blame him. So it looks like one of those awesome magical objects from the Wizarding World is the best option if he had to pick a role.

Later in that same conversation, Radcliffe mused about which of the adult Harry Potter characters might be fun to play. He doesn't actually seem interested in landing the gig for the TV series, but if he had to pick his favorite is:

Set that boundary, Daniel. Radcliffe developed a close bond with Gary Oldman while filming the Harry Potter movies, which may be another reason why he loves the character Sirius Black so much. But to be clear, there's basically no chance he's going to actually play Harry's godfather in the forthcoming TV series. He joked to the journalist who asked him the question:

Yeah, Radcliffe isn't going to let his comments be taken out of context. The Tony-winning actor knows all too well how passionate Potter fans are, so he doesn't want to give anyone false hope about him actually playing Sirius.

Of course, the questions about whether or not he and the rest of the Harry Potter cast will one day reprise their roles for a Cursed Child movie remain to be seen. The fandom has been hoping for this book to screen adaptation ever since the play's script was released, especially since it features adult versions of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and more. Alas, there's no indication that movie is happening on the 2025 movie release list or beyond.

May is arguably the busiest month by way of network TV news, from all the big finales airing to the variety of high-profile cancellations to last-minute renewals. It's also the point where execs solidify dates and time slots for returning hits and debuting hopefuls arriving later in the 2025 TV schedule. One day after CBS' Fall TV plans were revealed, NBC went public with its own lineup, which includes some big news for a pair of shows in waiting, and a great update for Daniel Radcliffe's new comedy series.

Before learning everything that the Peacock network will have in store for audiences later this year, which obviously includes the previously renewed three-series One Chicago franchise, let's first dig into NBC's late-in-the-game renewals decisions.

NBC Saved Two On-The-Bubble Dramas From Cancellation

After making the call to cancel quite a few shows from its 2024-2025 schedule, in large part to account for the return of NBA on NBC, the network kept fanbases waiting until the eleventh hour to deliver a pair of stellar updates. Both Melissa Roxburgh's The Hunting Party and Zachary Quinto's Brilliant Minds have been renewed for their respective sophomore seasons. What's more, both are now set for full seasons of 18-22 episodes!

The Hunting Party, which became a bigger hit with general audiences than with critics, was a Monday-night offering in its ten-episode first year, but that'll change for Season 2. NBC is shifting the procedural crime drama over to Thursday nights as a no-brainer follow-up to the long-running pair of Law & Order series. No better night on broadcast TV for Hunting Party's twisted serial killers.

The reason why Roxburgh's show is switching nights is because Brilliant Minds, which wrapped its Monday-set first season ahead of The Hunting Party's midseason arrival, will be sticking around its previous time slot. It looks like NBC execs were happy with how the Quinto-led medical drama did in its post-Voice slot.

Daniel Radcliffe And Jimmy Fallon's New Shows, And More Extra Tidbits

Though it wasn't part of the initial Fall TV line-up, the previously announced team-up between Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliff, the comedy titled The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins has been ordered up, presumably for a midseason start. Created by 30 Rock's Robert Carlock and Sam Means, the new project stars Morgan as a former football player who is attempting to revert his downfall into disgrace and bring some shine back to his image.

Executive produced by Means, Carlock and the latter's go-to comedy partner Tina Fey, Reggie Dinkins sounds like it could be a huge hit, with Morgan likely set for an endless number of uncomfortably wreckless and morally questionable situations. Just like 30 Rock's Tracy Jordan!

Speaking of 30 Rock — the location this time, not the series — building mainstay Jimmy Fallon will be debuting a new unscripted series called On Brand with Jimmy Fallon. In the new project, the Tonight Show host will start up a high-profile marketing agency that he staffs with highly creative and competitive hopefuls who will be fighting to come out on top as what I can only assume will be called the Brand Ambassador.

Another new unscripted series coming to NBC's schedule is Surviving Earth, an eight-episode event series that will take audiences back to the cataclysmic events that led to life thriving on this planet, with cautionary lessons to be learned from past mass extinctions and other noteworthy prehistoric incidents.

Finally, NBC confirmed that St. Denis Medical, as well as the previously renewed Happy's Place, will arrive on the Fall schedule in November, where both will be used as lead-in launchpads for a pair of new comedies, with Reggie Dinkins likely being one of them.

HBO’s Harry Potter series is off to the races. After months of casting rumors, some of Hogwarts' core faculty and staff have been cast, and we know the series will be filmed at the same studio where the OG movies were made. However, now there’s a new rumor going around about this project, as it’s been claimed that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were not formally informed that this new series was happening.

Apparently, the first Harry, Ron and Hermione to grace our screens are being kept in the dark about this whole situation. In a report from The Daily Mail, it was alleged that Radcliffe, Watson and Grint were not informed that the remake was even happening before it was officially announced. According to an insider, that is “heartbreaking,” as they explained:

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were all the age of the first years when they began their journey in the Wizarding World, and they spent a decade in it as they made the Harry Potter films. To this day, they are all frequently asked about it, and this franchise serves as the biggest moment in their careers.

According to this insider, when it comes to the next iteration of Harry Potter, the original cast members “are a mere afterthought.” Apparently, they have “no involvement” in what’s coming next, and this is a totally new chapter:

According to the report, once the Harry Potter team finishes auditioning thousands of kids and picks their new trio, the first Harry, Ron and Hermione will not be informed about it. It would seem that they will find out the same way everyone else will, through the public announcement.

It’s well known that the books' author, J.K. Rowling, is involved in this new series. It’s also known that her views on women’s and trans rights have caused a lot of controversy. Over the years, the original Harry Potter cast has reacted to those views, and some, including Daniel Radcliffe, have spoken out against her.

Apparently, the author wants to fully move on from the movies, as the source claimed:

Overall, it would appear the trio does not have a say or knowledge about the upcoming series. However, they do get asked about it, and that will likely continue. Daniel Radcliffe has already been asked if he’d make a cameo, and as he continues to act and promote his work – and this goes for Watson, Grint, and the rest of the movies' cast too – he’ll likely get questions about it again.

So, as the Harry Potter series chugs along, and the original cast continues working on their own projects, we’ll keep you posted about how this new venture into the Wizarding World and the original films collide (or don’t). Rowling has been involved in some controversy as of late, and she might be in hot water with the fandom after seemingly throwing shade at the film actors who "ruined" the movies for her.

The eight Potter movies (which are streaming with a Max subscription) are still beloved, with certain fans re-watching them annually. The Harry Potter cast grew up before our eyes, and they're now firmly in their adulthood. Rowling seemingly threw shade at the leading trio on Twitter, when answering a prompt about actors who instantly ruin movies. Check it out below:

Shots fired. While she didn't offer any actual names, the writer's comments seem to indicate that she's referencing Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. All three of these actors have condemned Rowling's comments about the transgender community, and this tweet seems to indicate that she's harboring some resentment towards the trio.

While Rowling might have simply been joking, the comments section of her tweet is filled with folks sounding off regarding her apparent beef with Radcliffe, Grint, and Watson. Some are taking her side, while others are chastising her for throwing shade at the actors.

Rowling has spent years sharing her controversial opinion about the transgender community, inspiring a number of folks (both famous and not) to speak out against the beloved writer. Rupert Grint took the side of the trans community, alongside other Wizarding World actors like Emma Watson and Eddie Redmayne. The latter was in the midst of his tenure in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, so he had to continue working with Rowling despite his feelings.

This drama between Rowling and her fans over her views about transgender women have been going on for years now, and is seemingly not going to slow down anytime soon. The author definitely added fuel to the fire with the above tweet, and also recently got into a twitter fight with controversial recording artist Azealia Banks.

As J.K. Rowling continues her campaign against trans women, Harry Potter fans have had to grapple with how that affects their relationship with the Wizarding World. Some fans have boycotted Harry Potter, despite their years of affection for the franchise.

Regardless of this ongoing controversy, the developing Harry Potter TV series is still in the works at Max. Warner Bros. is continuing its relationship with Rowling, given just how popular the Wizarding World continues to be. And as such, I assume that saga happening between the author and the stars of the original Potter movies will likely continue for the foreseeable future.

Tracy Morgan might be best known for his role on Tina Fey’s satirical sitcom 30 Rock (which you can stream on Hulu), but the Saturday Night Live alum and regular has dozens of other credits, including a four-year run as Tray Barker on the TBS comedy series The Last O.G. that ended in 2021. Four years later, Morgan is headed back to television, and this time, he has an unlikely co-star, Daniel Radcliffe.

Variety first broke the news of Morgan’s untitled comedy series a week ago, and now there is even more information to share. Hailing from the minds of Tina Fey and several other former 30 Rock and SNL creatives, the series will follow Reggie, a disgraced football player (Morgan) who must rehabilitate his image. While not much else is known about Morgan’s character yet, we are learning more about Radcliffe's role.

The Weird: The Al Yankovic Story star is set to play Arthur Tobin, a successful filmmaker who plans to create an immersive documentary about Reggie. To do so, Arthur moves into Reggie’s mansion.

It’s been confirmed that the untitled sports comedy will be a single-camera show; however, what remains unclear is if it will be a mockumentary like The Office or the recent hit Abbott Elementary. 30 Rock was not, but with Radcliffe playing a documentary filmmaker, it's definitely a possibility that the show will feature some mockumentary-style elements like the infamous talking-head segments.

And if that's the case, it'd feel right at home alongside NBC's similar hits like The Office, Parks and Rec and St. Denis Medical both on the network and on Peacock.

While this NBC pilot marks the first time Morgan and Radcliffe will share the stage, it’s not the former Harry Potter star’s first foray into comedy television, nor his first time working with Fey. The two first teamed up for his appearance in the interactive special Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidy: Kimmy vs the Reverend. Most recently, he's co-starred opposite Steve Buscemi in the anthology comedy TBS series Miracle Workers.

Morgan, of course, is no stranger to the world of comedic television either. Most recently, the comedy icon has recently appeared in several guest roles for Disney Plus’s The Santa Clauses and CBS’s The Neighborhood, which is set to end next year. The latter of which has landed Morgan a spin-off series where he will reprise his role as Curtis Butler, the cousin to Cedric the Entertainer’s character from the multi-cam series.

As of writing, there is no word on whether or not the untitled comedy will be ready in time to debut on the fall 2025 TV schedule. Given that the news is only about a pilot order, we might never see the finished product. But I cant imagine that anything with Morgan and Radcliffe sharing the screen would get sidelined that early. Perhaps some wizarding skills would come in handy...

The Harry Potter movies certainly had a lot of emotional moments. We're talking heartbreaking Wizarding World deaths or when things didn’t go according to plan in the fight against Voldemort. In real life, the cast of Harry Potter did have a lot of funny moments on the set that are worth looking back on. A behind-the-scenes video revealed the time when Rupert Grint even fooled Daniel Radcliffe while dressed as a Death Eater on set. I’ve got to say, watching it is totally priceless!

If you recall, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (which went on to become one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, so I know a lot of you have seen it) sees Ron and Hermione disguise themselves while Harry hides under his Invisibility Cloak to break into Gringotts Wizarding Bank.

Hermione drinks Polyjuice Potion to look like Bellatrix Lestrange and Ron disguises himself as a Death Eater. Harry revealed in a deleted scene he wouldn’t have recognized him if he didn’t know Ron, and now fans can see the moment play out in real life via a BTS Instagram video where Daniel Radcliffe also lacks recognition.

As you can see, Rupert Grint went full-out in disguise wearing (what he believes was) Gary Oldman’s old wig when he played Sirius Black, as well as donning a full beard and darkened eyebrows. As the British actor is known for his ginger hair, he said he walked past plenty of people on set who had no idea it was him. Even Daniel Radcliffe couldn’t identify his Harry Potter chum, and he'd known him for a decade at that point.

The cast and crew of Harry Potter have worked together for so many years, and there are a lot more fun, feel-good moments out there. For example, there was a time when Alan Rickman and Michael Gambon pranked Daniel Radcliffe with a farting machine to make everyone think he was flatulent! There were also some adorable videos of the young cast just being kids, including Tom Felton messing around on the Prisoner of Azkaban set with a giant yo-yo and a throwback video of Felton and Emma Watson playing a hand game during a set break. Cute moments like this show how the Harry Potter set was like a second home to these child actors.

I love seeing Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe’s interactions with each other. As we saw in BTS videos and during the Harry Potter 10th anniversary reunion, you can see the deep friendship the two shared playing young wizards. It still feels fresh to fans, and Grint has previously said he loved his bond with Radcliffe and Emma Watson. With a new Harry Potter TV series coming into play, it looks like a brand new cast of young British actors will know what it’s like to step into big shoes like the OG trio once did.

If Rupert Grint were able to fool Daniel Radcliffe with his clever Death Eater disguise, we clearly need to give hair and makeup a round of applause. The Wizarding World may have a Polyjuice Potion to cleverly mix up magical folk, but Hollywood’s got their own brand of magic that can transform actors so well even their co-stars don’t recognize them, and they don't get enough random lauds.

Back in 2009, David Holmes — who served as Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double in the first six Harry Potter movies, suffered a tragic accident on set that left him paralyzed. Holmes has now written about the experience and rediscovering life after his injury in a book, The Boy Who Lived: When Magic and Reality Collide. Fellow Harry Potter star Emma Watson picked up a copy and shared her emotional reaction to his words, saying in a heartfelt review that she hasn’t stopped crying.

The Boy Who Lived was released in November and features a foreword by Daniel Radcliffe, who has remained close with David Holmes. Emma Watson — aka Hermione Granger in the beloved films — raved about the book on her Instagram Stories, writing:

The accident that forever changed David Holmes’ life happened during the filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. The stunt double was instantly paralyzed from the chest down in a stunt testing accident. In 2023 he and Daniel Radcliffe starred in a similarly titled documentary David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived (available to stream with a Max subscription) about their enduring friendship.

It seems David Holmes has remained close with Emma Watson and other members of the cast as well, despite it being more than a decade since the final movie came out. He gushed over the actress on his own Instagram following her sweet review, even hilariously revealing that he once doubled as Hermione in one of the movies:

Fans have enjoyed watching the stars of the movie react to their life-changing childhood jobs as the years pass. Lots of other fun behind-the-scenes stories, videos and pics like the one above have come out over the years, including a pretty great one from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in which it seems Robert Pattinson couldn’t remember Emma Watson’s name, prompting her to call him “just plain rude!” She has also shared another memory from that movie that caused some extreme discomfort and probably just as much frustration.

The Harry Potter cast members will always be remembered for those roles, and that seems especially true for David Holmes. It’s great to see his former colleagues continuing to support him through his journey all these years later.
