Once a show is over, it never actually goes away. Talks of a revival often follow a big hit's finale, and Bones, which premiered 21 years ago and aired its series finale nine years ago, is no exception. From every comedic moment to every gooey body to every heartbreaking moment, I loved every part of Bones. So David Boreanaz discussing a possible revival has me both excited and thinking about just how old this show is.

While it’s been almost a decade since we said goodbye to these characters, the actor is being asked about a possible return. Much like how Boreanaz gets asked about a Buffy reunion, he also gets questions about if he'd ever return as Booth. And recently, he addressed the chances of a Bones revival. The actor spoke with ScreenRant about how likely it is, saying:

He makes such a great point here. While it's hard to believe Bones premiered over 20 years ago, its age does not hinder it. As the actor said, it's the kind of show that would be very easy to pop back into. Boreanaz has called Bones the show he "would definitely revisit" if he could, which could mean that one day we may see a reunion.

The actor has provided nostalgic throwbacks that prove that he misses the show and working with Emily Deschanel as much as the fans miss seeing the two together. So, as he said, when it comes to a revival, I'd "never say never."

However, if it doesn't happen, it won't be over any drama. The actor gave a more logical answer as to why a revival is less likely to happen, stating that the actors' busy schedules are difficult to coordinate. He explained:

He really has done that too. Boreanaz seems to flawlessly go from one long-running project to another, as he jumped immediately from Buffy to Angel to Bones to SEAL Team.

However, while he may "never look back" at past roles, he honors these characters (and fans) every time he attends conventions for Bones. Although, because he really is always moving forward, Emily Deschanel will joke about why he wouldn't want to do a revival:

Well, while they joke about him not wanting to do one, these new quotes prove he's not totally against a Bones reboot. However, we don't actually know if that will ever happen.

We do know, however, that Boreanaz will be part of a different revival, as he's leading the reboot of Rockford Files. So, while we may not get a Bones revival anytime soon, I do hope we'll see Emily Deschanel pop up to hang out with Rockford.

However, those are all dreams, and who knows if they'll come true. Thankfully, while we fantasize about the reboots and reunions that could happen on screen, there are 12 seasons of Bones that we can always go back and rewatch with a Disney+ subscription

Most shows may be on summer hiatus, but the 2026 TV schedule is heating up for the fall and beyond. NBC, for instance, picked up five shows for the 2026-2027 season. This includes the much-talked-about Rockford Files reboot starring David Boreanaz. The original show ran in the ‘70s and starred James Garner, and like any reboot, fans of the beloved series are on the fence about this new project. However, Boreanaz made a great point about why he's doing it while addressing fans who think he shouldn’t.

It was announced earlier this year that NBC had given a pilot order to a reboot of The Rockford Files, with Boreanaz tapped to star as the titular P.I. James “Jim” Rockford the following month. With Boreanaz’s track record of successful TV series, such as Angel, Bones, and the CBS-turned-Paramount+ military drama SEAL Team, it’s possible that The Rockford Files will also go far. Reboots, however, can be a hit or miss, especially when it comes to beloved classics. Boreanaz knows there are people who believe the OG show shouldn’t be touched, but he made a good point about why this revival is worthy while at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival (via Variety):

I definitely understand where the Bones actor is coming from. A handful of characters, like James Bond, have been done time and time again, and people still watch. Who’s to say the same can’t happen for Jim Rockford?

There have been a couple of attempts to remake The Rockford Files, both as a series and a movie, but neither made it far. This reboot will be the first remake since the original series ended in 1980, so it’s not surprising that fans would be unsure about it. However, Boreanaz wants to do right by the character and the original series, as he said:

It sounds like The Rockford Files will honor the original while also being completely new. Boreanaz also seems to be ready to take on the Jim Rockford mantle and pay tribute to Garner, which is all that anyone can ask for. Speaking of which, he went to Garner's daughter, Gigi, before taking the role, to ask how she felt about the reboot. That alone shows how much the SEAL Team actor cares about honoring what came before him. The Rockford Files definitely has the right person taking on the show, and I’m excited to see how it goes.

Even though some fans still need to be convinced about the reboot, Boreanaz is still getting a lot of support from others and some friends, as well. After news broke that The Rockford Files would officially be coming to NBC, his Buffy and Angel co-star Charisma Carpenter showed her love and support, and it was as sweet as can be. Whether or not Carpenter will join her former co-star on the new show is unknown, but it would be fun to see the two of them on-screen together again.

The Rockford Files won’t be premiering this fall and will instead air in early 2027. The wait will surely be worth it, and in the meantime, fans can watch the original series with an Amazon Prime subscription.

Sadly, Hollywood and the world at large have lost yet another beloved actor in Anthony Head, who died this week at the age of 72. Head’s death was confirmed by his family, and the beloved performer died due to complications from pneumonia. Known best for his roles on shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Ted Lasso, Head has been widely mourned by fans thus far. Many of the late actor's co-stars are also now paying tribute to him, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, as she shared an emotionally candid post.

Sarah Michelle Gellar And Other Buffy Stars Honor Anthony Head

Head played the role of Rupert Giles (mostly known as just “Giles”) and was a regular cast member for the show’s first five seasons before recurring throughout the final two. Giles is a “watcher,” who serves as a mentor to Gellar’s young slayer, Buffy, and, in time, the two form a surrogate father-daughter relationship. Evidently, that connection extended beyond the show as well, based on the sweet sentiments Gellar shared about Head on Instagram. The actress shared a series of sweet photos as well as caption about not being “OK”:

Giles is arguably one of the supernatural horror show’s most lovable characters, and he dishes out invaluable wisdom to the characters throughout the course of Buffy’s seven seasons. While the writers deserve plenty of credit, Head’s warm performance really makes the character work, and he also seemed to endear himself to his co-stars while making the series. Emma Caufield, who played Anya Jenkins on the show, also shared some warm words about Head on Instagram:

Also joining the series of tributes to Head was Angel actor David Boreanaz. When taking to Instagram, Boreanaz shared a throwback photo of himself and Head, and he also shared a truly bittersweet message:

Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase on the show, paid tribute to Anthony Head as well by sharing photos and a lengthy message on Instagram. While Carpenter admitted to not being as close with Head as some of her co-stars, she also got real about feeling the weight of his loss:

Sadly, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer family has lost multiple members in recent years, with Xander Harris portrayer Nicholas Brendon having passed away at 54 due to natural causes just earlier this year. And, in 2025, Michelle Trachtenberg died at 39 due to complications related to diabetes. Trachtenberg was best known for her role as Dawn Summers, a character she played throughout Buffy’s final two seasons.

Ted Lasso Stars Pay Tribute After Anthony Head’s Death

As a member of the Ted Lasso cast, Head played the despicable Rupert Mannion (to perfection). Now, several members of the cast have since spoken out in the aftermath of Head’s passing, including Roy Kent actor Brett Goldstein. In a post shared to his Instagram story, Goldstein paid loving tribute to Head:

Keeley Hazell played Bex, Mannion’s girlfriend and eventual third wife on the show, and the actress also posted a tribute to Head on her Instagram story. Hazell’s post contains two photos as well as a lovely message in honor of her on-screen husband:

Sweet sentiments also came from Jeremy Swift (known for playing Leslie Higgins on Lasso) shared a sweet selfie featuring himself and Head on Instagram. See it for yourself below:

The loss of Anthony Head still feels somewhat surreal at this point, though fans should know that it’s perfectly fine not to be OK like Sarah Michelle Gellar. If anything, though, the outpouring of love for Head is beautiful to see, and I feel confident in saying that his body of work – which includes other TV shows like Merlin and Little Britain – won’t be forgotten.

It hasn’t been two years since SEAL Team ended, but David Boreanaz is already plotting his TV comeback. The actor is officially returning to network television with his new NBC series, a reboot of The Rockford Files. While the show won’t be premiering on the 2026 TV schedule, it will be coming in 2027. So, of course, plenty of people are happy about Boreanaz’s new show, and I am so here for him getting support from a Buffy co-star.

Boreanaz has had a pretty consistent career in the last three decades, starring in multiple successful television shows, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff, Angel. He has stayed close to much of the cast over the years, including Charisma Carpenter. Proving that point, she showed him some love earlier this week when The Rockford Files became official, commenting on NBC’s Instagram post about the new reboot:

Seeing Cordelia hyping up Angel just makes me so happy, and I just think it’s so sweet. Carpenter starred alongside Boreanaz on Angel for the first four seasons, reprising her Buffy role as Cordelia Chase until she was killed off. Angel ended 22 years ago, so the fact that they are still close after all these years is nice. Maybe Carpenter could even guest star on The Rockford Files?

This interaction may make me happy, but it also makes me sad knowing that the Buffy sequel series didn’t work out. While Carpenter wasn’t involved with the show, and Boreanaz would have probably been too busy to make an appearance, this just adds to the “What could have been?” list in terms of bringing back Cordelia and Angel and seeing them interacting with everyone else. If anything, their relationship seems pretty solid, so the interactions will certainly continue, whether on social media or maybe on a different show.

As for The Rockford Files, it was announced in February that Boreanaz would be taking on the role of private detective Jim Rockford, originally played by late actor James Garner in the ‘70s. NBC has confirmed that the new show will be hitting screens in January, so fans won’t have to wait too much longer to have Boreanaz back on their screens. He’s gone from Buffy to Angel to Bones to SEAL Team all one right after the other, so it was only a matter of time before he locked down something new. And reboots are definitely in right now.

I can only imagine the kind of support that Carpenter will give her former co-star when The Rockford Files premieres next year, and I’m already looking forward to it. The only thing that would make it better is if Carpenter joined Boreanaz on the show...

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer family has sadly lost yet another member, as it was reported this past week that Nicholas Brendon passed away at the age of 54. Brendon famously played the role of fan-favorite character Xander Harris throughout all seven seasons of the supernatural series. Since the news was announced, fans have been sharing tributes to Brendon and, now, many of his former Buffy castmates are doing the same. That includes Sarah Michelle Gellar, David Boreanaz and others.

Gellar – who played the eponymous Buffy Summers – shared a tribute to her friend and co-star by way of an Instagram post. As part of that, the actress shared a sweet throwback photo of her and Brendon. Additionally, Gellar shared a sweet message within her caption:

Angel actor David Boreanaz shared his tribute to Brendon on Instagram as well this weekend. In addition to sharing a photo, Boreanaz also penned a lovely message that spoke to not only who Brendon was as an actor but who he was as a person:

Nicholas Brendon’s family formally announced his passing on Friday, explaining that he died in his sleep from natural causes. Per the statement, Brendon “found his passion in painting and art” in recent years and “loved to share his enthusiastic talent with his family, friends and fans.” Brendon’s loved ones also remembered him as a person who was “passionate, sensitive, and endlessly driven to create.” Also, on Friday, Alyson Hannigan – who played Willow Rosenberg on all seven seasons of Buffy – wrote this on Instagram:

Hannigan’s post also included a still from Buffy, which showed her and Brendon’s characters physically embracing each other. As for Anya Jenkins actress Emma Caulfield, she shared an interview clip of Brendon on her Instagram story. She also shared a sentimental caption:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (which is streamable in its entirety with a Hulu subscription) remains a much loved piece of pop culture, and Brendon’s performance as Xander is a standout part of it. Within a show filled with drama, high stakes and otherworldly entanglements, Brendon helped ground the show through his humorous and relatable portrayal of Harris. All in all, Brendon – along with the writers – made Xander an amiable and invaluable ally for Buffy.

Nicholas Brendon’s passing hits hard, especially considering it’s only been a little over a year since the death of Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Dawn Summers on Buffy. While Brendon’s death may be another development that’s hard to process, I’m hopeful that his legacy will live on through those who love his portrayal of Xander as well as his other work. Everything old is often new again, and such is the case with basically any franchise. If anything was successful once as a movie or TV show, you can be all but certain that once enough time has passed, it will be rebooted. The latest old school series to come back to TV in a new form is The Rockford Files on NBC.

The original series from the 1970s starred the late James Garner as private detective Jim Rockford. Now, David Boreanaz, formerly of the CBS-to-Paramount+ series SEAL Team as well as Bones and Angel, has been cast as the new lead in a pilot for a rebooted version of the series. It turns out that before he accepted the role, he reached out to Garner’s daughter, and Gigi is completely behind the reboot, if for no other reason than she thinks it was incredibly classy of him to ask. She posted to X:

Gigi Garner’s Twitter handle is Mavrocksgirl, a mash-up of Maverick and Rockford, her father’s two most famous roles. That's all I need to know to understand just how important her father’s legacy, and those roles specifically, are to her. That makes this endorsement all the more importan.

The original Rockford Files starred Garner as a wrongly convicted, and later pardoned, man who becomes a PI. It ran for six seasons. Many current and future stars would appear on the show. Tom Selleck had a small recurring role that would lead to Garner becoming a mentor, and also had one of the most famous opening sequences in TV history.

It is quite a classy move for David Boreanaz to call James Garner’s daughter to talk to her about the role. The pilot would almost certainly have happened whether or not James Garner’s daughter supported it, but it was seemingly important to the actor to at least understand how the family felt about bringing back a character that was so integral to Garner’s career. That importance was on display again when Boreanaz posted about his own casting on Instagram, as he thanked NBC, but he also thanked James and Gigi. He wrote…

This isn’t the first time an attempt to reboot Rockford Files has been made. A pilot of a new series was filmed back around 2009 starring Dermott Mulroney in the Rockford role, but it never made it to series. A Rockford Files movie was in development starring Vince Vaughn in 2014, but it seemingly lost steam following James Garner’s passing that same year. Per Deadline, the new series is still only in the pilot stage, so it remains to be seen if NBC orders it to series.

As somebody who grew up watching Rockford Files reruns on TV, I’m certainly curious to see what comes of this new project. A good detective series never ages, so there’s no reason a modern version of the show can’t work. The only question is how to open each episode, considering nobody has an answering machine anymore!

The world hasn’t really been the same since Betty White’s passing in 2021. As a Hollywood veteran and trailblazer, she seemed to work a solid balance between her expanding catalog of great shows and movies while having some of her iconic cheeky fun. Said fun was sometimes a lot bolder and raunchier. And Bones star David Boreanaz recalls a time when he was on the receiving end, while White appeared on the series. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t exactly co-worker friendly.

The 59-year-old was among the cast to appear at the inaugural Televerse Festival panel for Bones: 20th Anniversary Retrospective August 16. Fans have been long excited for any Bones revival updates leading up to this panel. But the true surprise came when Boreanaz shared with People initially meeting White during her first cameo in Season 11. He recalled that as ‘Ms.White’ started greeting everyone with her signature charm, as he said:

It’s wild to remember that the late actress was among Bones’ array of familiar faces but she was on twice as Dr. Beth Mayer (her second appearance was during Season 12). The sweet and hammy introductions seem pretty par for the Golden Girls star, filled to the brim with fun and smiles. I can only imagine many of her first days on sets went something like this.

But the initial greetings apparently shifted after the Brennan actress’ experience because things reportedly got more direct. The latter co-star of the show with 10+ Seasons says that Betty White’s first reaction to him was NSFW and based on his looks. In his words:

Leave it to the Queen of TV to lay it all out on the table! Though, per the article, Emily Deschanel stated she doesn’t remember the forward comments during that time frame. Whether or not the Dr. Mayer actress did, it’s not out of the realm of her humorous repertoire. Afterall, she’s got a point–the Angel star is a wave maker, including having influenced the Bones title change.

Also, looking at White’s larger than life crush-like habits, they’ve been showcased before on screen and off. From The Proposal actress’ make out with Bradley Cooper on Saturday Night Live as one of The Californians to Anthony Mackie's surprise flirtatious encounter while the two were at an event. All, of course, have been in good fun, and it seems like Boreanaz’s claim can join alongside his peers.

It seems like David Boreanaz will never forget the NSFW comment Betty White made when the two met. And I’m sure it subsequently made for an even more memorable guest appearance experience for the two. You can check out her episodes and the rest of Bones with a Disney+ subscription, among others.

While it’s true that Bones has been mostly absent from our lives since 2017, the Fox drama’s popularity means it will likely always be around as streaming content. (It’s currently available with a Disney+ subscription, among others.) More than a few fans out there would love for it to be back around on a more consistent basis, preferably with new episodes as opposed to those we’ve seen before. So I’m extremely hopeful we’ll get some kind of potential revival update during the cast’s anniversary reunion on the way.

Despite Bones being one of those shows that many think went on too long, it’s been gone long enough that it’s easier to forget the foibles and missteps in light of the best moments. The ones that still linger today and inspire comparisons to current shows like High Potential. One can imagine those kinds of stories will get the focus during the TV Academy’s upcoming event Televerse 25, which will host a 20th anniversary panel featuring the following Bones elite:

• David Boreanaz
• T.J. Thyne
• Tarama Taylor
• Creator Hart Hanson

The inaugural TV-celebrating festival will be held in Los Angeles from August 14-16, 2025, and the Bones reunion was just one of several exciting panels revealed during the first wave of announcements. (Other spotlights will go to such talents as Henry Winkler, Beau Willimon and the Los Angeles Dodgers' broadcasting team.) But since those arent' all about Bones, those can take a mental backseat for now.

Here's what the cast members and creator will be prepped to discuss to celebrate 20 years of Brennan, Booth, and Hodgins (and 19 years of Taylor's Cam, who joined the forensics fun in Season 2.):

• "The panel will discuss the show's exploration of science vs. faith, the real-life forensics and anthropologist who inspired the series, the process of crafting the chemistry between the group's ensemble cast, and the show's resonance with fans 20 years later."

Hopefully there will be lots of fun stories, such as how Boreanaz influenced the title change when he was cast. But more previously unknown details would be nice, too.

Though Booth and Brennan obviously got together in the later years, their not-quite-there romance is one of TV's best, because it lasted long enough to truly earn the coupling. Even if the show itself debatably got worse, fans never stopped loving and rooting for the duo and the actors who portray them. Boreanaz himself spoke of the unique chemistry he and Deschanel shared, helping to make their on-screen relationship appear all the more organic. Which is precisely what everybody would want to get an update on with a Bones revival.

Boreanaz And Hanson Have Both Spoken Positively About A Bones Revival, So I'm Hopeful For An Update

Obviously to expect any extremely significant revival news is to risk being sorely disappointed, since the existence of any such continuation is in the hands of networks and studios. So it's not as if anyone asking about it during the reunion special will magically bring it to life. However, there is the chance of forward momentum happening behind the scenes in the time since both David Boreanaz and Hart Hanson have addressed returning to Bones.

If nothing comes out of this reunion, it won't be much longer before that More Bones spinoff referenced on Lucifer will start to sound pretty damned good. I mean, if somebody wants to go ahead and make that one in the meantime...

Many were shocked to learn about the death of Michelle Trachtenberg. The beloved actress, who made a name for herself on shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, died at the age of 39, and many of her co-stars and colleagues were quick to post tributes. This includes stars like David Boreanaz, Alyson Hannigan, Kenan Thompson, Ed Westwick and more who worked with the actress as she grew up on screen.

Many from The Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast posted about their love for Trachtenberg. Playing Dawn Summers, the performer appeared in 66 episodes of the classic series, and to this day, it’s one of the roles she’s best known for. Her co-star and Angel actor, David Boreanaz, took to his IG stories to post a tribute for her, writing:

Buffy's Willow actress, Alyson Hannigan, also used her Instagram to post about her love for the late actress. Uploading some throwback pictures from their time on the series (which you can watch with a Hulu subscription), she also wrote:

Spike actor James Marsters also wrote a heartfelt message about his Buffy co-star on his IG. Posting a close-up selfie of him with Trachtenberg, he reflected on the actress's life and the time he spent with her, noting that “she died much too young.”

If you’re like me, one of the shows you might know Trachtenberg best from is Gossip Girl. In the 2000s, she played the evil legend Georgina Sparks in the Gossip Girl cast and appeared in 28 episodes. So, to honor her legacy as well as his work with her on The CW show, Chuck Bass actor Ed Westwick took to his IG Story to write:

Many other stars from projects Trachtenberg worked on posted their condolences, too. This included Kim Cattrall, who played the actress’s skating coach in Ice Princess (which you can watch with a Disney+ subscription). As someone who grew up on this movie, this tribute made me very emotional, as Cattrall wrote the following on Instagram alongside a photo from the film:

Michelle Trachtenberg was one of many child stars who grew up on Nickelodeon, and while there, she worked alongside Kenan Thompson. Posting a video from those days and an image of them standing together, the Saturday Night Live star wrote on Instagram:

During her early career, the late actress also starred in Harriet the Spy as the titular spy. In a statement to Poeple, her on-screen mom, J. Smith-Cameron, shared some of her memories from working on that film with her as well as her shock about this news:

Melissa Joan Hart also posted about working with Trachtenberg when she was very young. The two performed together on Clarissa Explains It All, and Hart had nothing but fantastic things to say about the actress’s talent that had been clear as day from a very young age:

Overall, the love being shown for the actress is immense, and it’s truly tragic that she died at such a young age.

For the first time since the late '90s, proven TV leading man David Boreanaz isn't set up to take over a new show in the wake of SEAL Team's seventh and final season. The actor, who has explained how taking the gig as Jason Hayes for CBS actually saved the show, was ready to leave the grueling role behind at the end of Season 7 even before news broke that it would end in the 2024 TV schedule. When he recently spoke with CinemaBlend, he reflected candidly about how the intense military series survived another three seasons on Paramount+ after being cut from CBS.

The first four seasons of SEAL Team aired on network television, with David Boreanaz moving over to CBS after twelve seasons of Bones on Fox. A renewal for Season 5 wasn't guaranteed, to the point that the star himself was posting on social media with a message for CBS as well as encouraging words for fans back in 2021. The show was of course renewed... but only to move over to streaming for fans with a Paramount+ subscription, as it would not return full-time to CBS.

At the time, David Boreanaz explained why he was excited to move to streaming to get darker with the storytelling and drop the occasional F-bomb, and those F-bombs did fly over the three seasons on Paramount+, including in his very last line as Jason Hayes. When I spoke with Boreanaz in support of SEAL Team's seventh season releasing on DVD, I noted that the streaming finale stuck the landing a lot better than the Season 4 finale on CBS would have as the end. He responded:

SEAL Team certainly is a success story; not many shows are lucky enough to come back from being cut from the biggest broadcast network, let alone run for another three seasons and come to a satisfying end. There were some different ideas for Jason's ending that were scrapped early on before his fate was finally settled and filmed.

As for the series being too heavy for CBS, the network has plenty of crime shows that can get pretty dark, but there's a difference between the kind of heaviness that can fly on NCIS and FBI vs. what's needed to tell the story of an elite unit of Navy SEALs often operating overseas. Boreanaz went on:

Currently 55, the star has been open about wanting to step away from the physical challenges of playing Jason Hayes, so Season 7 would have been the end for him even if Paramount+ had brought it back for an eighth season. He's clearly grateful for the journey that was SEAL Team, months after the series finale released.

All of this said, the actor also was clear that he doesn't hold anything against CBS in the slightest, with everything working out for the best. After I noted to Boreanaz that his final line as Jason Hayes – "Easy fucking day" – definitely couldn't have aired on CBS, he responded:

Was the Season 7 finale truly the last time that fans will ever see the SEAL Team characters on the small screen? It's hard to rule much out in the era of reboots and revivals, but David Boreanaz seems decidedly done and happy with how Jason's story ended. He's been luckier than many actors over the years of his career, and not just because of nearly three decades of lead TV roles. Many series are unceremoniously cancelled after a cliffhanger; SEAL Team could build up to its finale and stick the landing.

SEAL Team came to an end earlier in the fall 2024 TV schedule after seven seasons, 114 episodes, one network TV cancellation, and a switch over to a streamer that proved to be the ideal platform. David Boreanaz starred as Jason Hayes, the lead of Bravo Team, but there was a lot more to Jason's struggles than his action-packed adventures. Now, with the final season and full run of the series soon to be available in a way beyond a Paramount+ subscription, Boreanaz reflected to CinemaBlend on why he originally passed on SEAL Team and is so proud now.

With both SEAL Team's final season and full series available via DVD as of December 17, the time couldn't be better to look back at where the hit drama started and what could have been very different. When I spoke with Boreanaz about the entire show arriving on physical media as well as streaming, I noted that it has always struck me as quite cinematic for a TV production. Boreanaz responded:

Back in SEAL Team's CBS days, the network evidently had its eye on David Boreanaz for Jason Hayes before the actor was ready to sign on for another lead role. He had just finished twelve seasons as leading man of Bones over on Fox, which had followed five seasons of Angel and a recurring gig on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Fortunately, the opportunity arose a second time, Boreanaz signed on as Jason Hayes, and the rest is history. Boreanaz went on:

The energy was so "real" and "alive" that David Boreanaz had decided even before the cancellation that he was "done with the show," and it's interesting to consider what SEAL Team might have had in store with what was written before news broke that Season 7 would be the last. He continued, explaining what the experience of joining the show could be like for newcomers and what about that makes him proud now:

The cast coming together to lift up newcomers is only one element of SEAL Team that David Boreanaz was proud of during our conversation, as he went on to share that he's "very proud that we were able to sustain it and have our fans continue to walk with us to another platform" after the CBS cancellation. He also shared what it means to have played Jason Hayes for the better part of a decade despite the toll:

SEAL Team may have been cinematic and action-packed from the very first episode, but a lot of the story was dedicated to the members of Bravo processing that intensity when they were home and trying to pick up normal lives. Sometimes, that involved post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries, and David Boreanaz evidently got feedback from real-life veterans about how seeing that on screen helped them. Who wouldn't be proud of that?

SEAL Team was one of the many shows ending or canceled in 2024, with the military drama officially saying goodbye in October after seven seasons. Even though much of Season 7 was already written before it got canceled, the show still managed to wrap up stories for Bravo and even give David Boreanaz’s Jason a much-deserved ending. However, the actor revealed some scrapped ideas for his character's fate, and I’m very glad they went with the one that aired.

It's no secret that Jason Hayes went through quite a lot during the show’s run, especially in the final season. However, after his TB was made public, his son’s accident, and his PTSD got in the way of how he operated, he finally received a happy ending. He walked his daughter down the aisle, he was no longer worried about the blood on his hands, and his son made a recovery.

That ending almost didn't happen, though, as Boreanaz told TV Insider that while there wasn’t an ending that was seriously considered or he wanted for Jason, the thought of killing him off did cross his mind:

Considering Jason’s kids already lost their mom, it would have been harsh to kill him off, especially since his daughter was preparing for her wedding. Of course, no one could have predicted how his final mission would go. However, since I am still mourning the loss of Clay, killing off another beloved main character would be pretty diabolical for the writers. Also, Jason just straight-up needed a happy ending.

That’s not the only ending that was briefly considered for Jason though. Fans will remember that he was considering leaving the field to be Head of Warfighter Health at DEVGRU, which Ray wound up taking instead. But there were other options for Jason that did not include death, Bravo, or Warfighter Health, as the Bones actor said:

As much as it would be interesting to see him calling the shots from the sidelines, that is certainly not on-brand for Jason. At the very least, he would try it out for a bit and then realize that his heart is on the field. Let's all remember that he hid a head injury because he wanted to be in Bravo. So, being away from the chaos would not work for him.

Luckily, the series ended with Jason still on Bravo, still leading the team and with his head in the right place. It was perhaps the best ending for him, and I couldn’t be more glad that they stuck with it. Fans can decide for themselves if the ending is the best one by streaming all seven seasons with a Paramount+ subscription.

Despite Buffy the Vampire Slayer's finale airing back in May of 2003, Joss Whedon's supernatural series has remained a popular and vital part of the pop culture landscape. Actor David Boreanaz famously played Angel in the first three season before getting his own spinoff, and he revealed the story behind getting the gig... and how Italian food was involved.

Sarah Michelle Gellar's popular series (which is streaming with a Hulu subscription) is widely considered one of the best supernatural teen dramas in history, and Boreanaz is an especially memorable Buffy actor. While speaking with People about Angel's run on TV, he spoke about first landing the vampiric role. As he put it:

Talk about chemistry. Having this type of ease and connection with a casting director is the thing of dreams for actors. And David Boreanaz was really able to build a rapport with Marcia Shulman before ever having to actually perform as Angel. And I have to assume that helped to give him an extra boost of confidence before auditioning.

Angel ended up being part of some of the best Buffy The Vampire Slayer episodes, and his connection with SMG's title character was the primary love story of the show's first three seasons on the air. As Boreanaz shared in the same interview, the timing of his audition may have also factored into him being cast. He offered:

Honestly, that's pretty understandable. Playing a vampire seems challenging, especially if David Boreanaz was asked to bare his pretend fangs in one of the Buffy audition scenes. But he seemingly felt great after going for it, and would famously play Angel for years.

Some fans maintain Buffy should have chosen Angel, or that the pair were still each other's true love after all those years. Others are more #TeamSpike, and the debate between the titular character's two vampiric loves will likely not stop anytime soon. But I for one am happy Boreanaz's foodie side helped him land the gig, as he'd play his signature role for 8 season of television between Buffy and Angel.

There’s a special place in my heart for Bones. It was the first show I ever binge-watched, and I fell head over heels in love with Booth and Brennan. Now, there’s a new procedural that’s wow-ing me on the 2024 TV schedule, High Potential, and it reminds me a lot of the classic Fox series. So, as the Kaitlin Olson-led hit continues, there’s one note I need her character Morgan and Daniel Sunjata’s Karadec to take from David Boreanaz’s Booth and Emily Deschanel’s Brennan.

That – and I say this with my full chest – is: Morgan and Karadec’s relationship should be the slowest of slow burns!

While there was romantic tension early between Booth and Brennan, they didn’t get together for real until Season 6! Yes, Season 6! It took six years for those two to finally address their feelings for one another, and I loved every second of the pining, avoiding feelings, work shenanigans and more. And that’s the kind of energy I’m sensing between Morgan and Karadec on High Potential.

As my colleague Nick Venable wrote, High Potential is a great crime show that avoids the typical problems procedurals have. However, while he thinks Morgan and Karadec shouldn’t be a couple, I think otherwise. Although, at the moment there really aren’t signs that they’ll get together, so I see his point. But, the chemistry is 100% there, and I’m in this for the long game, not the short one.

What made Bones great is the romance was never the plot, for a long time it was deep, almost nonexistent, subplot. And even when it did become a consistent element of the show, it wasn’t really the priority. At its core, Booth and Bones’ working relationship was the focal point. The romance followed, and I adored it.

I want that for Morgan and Karadec. They work so well together, their bickering is endlessly entertaining, and I feel like there are seeds being planted that something more could happen between them.

Over the years, Booth and Brennan developed a deep love for each other that was platonic for the longest time. I adore seeing Olson and Sunjata’s characters as friends, and they thrive in that stage. However, as they get closer and closer, I can feel the sparks starting to fly.

But, let’s not act on it too fast.

Let’s let Olson crush it as single-mom Morgan for a while. Let’s see more of her relationship with Ludo, especially when it comes to how they co-parent. Then, once she’s really mastered balancing her job and home life and made herself invaluable at the LAPD, we can add a sprinkle of romance between her and Karadec.

Like Booth and Brennan, they’re both wicked smart, totally opposite, yet care deeply for each other. I can’t wait to see how Karadec gets to know Morgan’s kids. I’m looking forward to watching them solve many more crimes together. And then maybe, way, way, way down the line – like five or six seasons – we can see them dive into a romantic relationship.

What can I say? I love a good slow burn and High Potential has high potential for a great one. So, here’s hoping they take some notes from Bones, and someday (but not too close to today) have Morgan and Karadec act on their feelings.

The SEAL Team series finale hit the 2024 TV schedule with a bang, and it’s still hard to believe it's all over with. After seven seasons, the military drama came to an end on October 6, and while fans have known about it for nearly a year now, with the finale officially dropping, there's no denying the reality anymore. David Boreanaz was ready to end it, though, and he shared a message for the fans along with some fun visuals to accompany his farewell to Bravo 1.

Boreanaz previously shared the final shot of SEAL Team and has been sharing more than a few sentimental messages with the fans in anticipation of the final episode. With the finale now out, the actor took to Instagram to share a sweet message with his followers, thanking them and telling them he will see them soon. Alongside the message, he posted a couple of photos from what seems to be right when filming wrapped, with champagne and smiles for miles:

While there were likely tears for miles as well, considering how much these cast members loved one another, it’s fun to see just how the cast and crew celebrated when filming officially wrapped on the finale. Even though it was probably a very hard day to get through, knowing that once cameras stopped rolling for good, that would mean the end of Bravo's current TV reign.

Ending a job might send a lot of people running out the door quickly, but that's not so much the case for this group. Fans can tell just how how much the series has meant to everyone, and all the celebrating presumably helped keep the more bittersweet feelings at bay, at least for a little bit.

Getting into party mode and popping champagne also pairs well with the fact that SEAL Team actually ended on a beautiful note. Fans may have had to say goodbye to Bravo 1, but Jason Hayes did not get the same fate as Curtis Ross, the traitor he was tasked with killing, who ended up being killed by newbie Drew. Jason was able to walk his daughter down the aisle and even stayed with Bravo. While some of the team did go their own ways, there was still a lot to celebrate.

When it was announced that SEAL Team was ending, the final season seemed so far away, even when production kicked off on Season 7. The final season was crushing it on streaming for those with a Paramount+ subscription when it premiered in August, and it proved that it's still one of Paramount+'s best originals.

Emotions have been all over the place during this final season of SEAL Team. Since the show ended on a pretty great note and nothing too tragic happened, it wasn’t so bad saying goodbye to Bravo 1 and the rest of the squad. Plus, one can always hope that more SEAL Team could be on the way in the future in the form of another show, but for now, fans will just have to rewatch the series and relive the ups and downs of Bravo to make it seem like SEAL Team will never go away.

Despite ending its twelve-season run in 2017, the character-driven procedural Bones still remains a beloved and regularly watched part of the yearly TV schedule through syndicated reruns, not to mention streaming binges, with fans hoping for an eventual revival for stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel. Their characters Seeley Booth and Temperance Brennan remain a fan-favorite pairing-turned-couple, and Boreanaz has a very specific explanation for why their chemistry was so strong.

Speaking with Variety about saying goodbye to the Paramount+ military drama SEAL Team, which delivered its series finale on October 6, Boreanaz addressed how cherished Bones is to fans and to him as an actor, and how well established Brennan and Booth’s kinship was from the very start (which was strong enough to inspire the creator to take the show in a different direction from his original plans). The actor gives Deschanel much of the credit for agreeing to his offbeat request. As he put it:

Assuming his math is sound, it sounds like David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel spent roughly 75% of their years together on Bones going the extra mile by working with acting teacher Ivana Chubbuck on a weekly basis to not only perfect their on-screen chemistry, but to further develop the scripts they'd be working from. It takes confidence to feel comfortable making those changes.

The acting duo's continued dedication to making their roles richer is definitely a sign of all-time great on-screen couplings. And it paid off as the years went on, too, with the pair reaching a point where they were basically in a flow state regarding their performances. He continued, saying:

Fans have long yearned to see Brennan and Booth back on the small screen. There was talk previously about a follow-up movie, which Boreanaz previously did not seem to have much interest in, though he now sounds slightly more intrigured by the potential to return to that particular role, with the caveat that it be of a limited nature. With SEAL Team wrapping up a highly streamed final season, with Boreanaz being fully ready for the end.

Among the many shows ending and canceled in 2024 is SEAL Team. The Paramount+ military drama is dropping the series finale this Sunday, and the emotions are already all over the place following a sentimental post David Boreanaz shared with A.J. Buckley. Now, Boreanaz’s on-screen daughter, Kerri Medders, is adding to the emotions by sharing what she’s learned from the show's leading man.

Medders has played Jason’s eldest child, Emma Hayes, since the very beginning. While the role isn’t Medders’ first gig, it was her first major part, so working alongside someone like Boreanaz, who has constantly been working in the industry for nearly three decades, had to have been both inspiring and maybe a bit intimidating. However, Medders told TVLine she’s learned some things from her on-screen dad when it comes to not only executing a scene but the energy that comes along with it:

On top of starring on SEAL Team, Boreanaz serves as executive producer and has directed on more than one occasion. Plus, he went from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Angel to Bones and then straight to SEAL Team. So, he certainly knows what it takes for a series to be successful. He even has plans post-SEAL Team already. What I'm saying is, his filmography alone shows off that work ethic his on-screen daughter was talking about, but her comments make it even clearer.

Medders being able to learn from him by just watching him and working alongside him proves how great of an actor Boreanaz is. Plus, the things she's learned will definitely prove useful for future projects, and it’s all thanks to following his lead, as she explained:

It’s special to know just how much Kerri Medders looks up to David Boreanaz, not just because he plays her dad but also because she knew he could teach her a lot, which he obviously did. He also very likely gave her direct advice, and it’s like their father-daughter relationship goes beyond screen, which is sweet. It’s also lovely to know that a lot of their scenes together, or at least some of the dialogue, is improvised and ad-libbed. It makes their father-daughter bond all the more authentic, especially with Emma getting ready to walk down the aisle, and I love to see it.

With the series finale dropping in just two days, it’s hard to tell how the show will come to an end and if Jason will be able to walk his daughter down the aisle. Even though Bravo is still coming to terms with Clay’s death, it wouldn’t be surprising if another member goes down, no matter how much fans don’t want it to happen. So, we need to prepare for anything.

As of now, Medders doesn’t seem to have any other projects lined up post-SEAL Team, but with all that she learned from Boreanaz, it shouldn’t be long until she snatches up another role. In the meantime, fans can hopefully look forward to one last father-daughter moment in the series finale of SEAL Team when it becomes available for those with a Paramount+ subscription this Sunday.

The penultimate episode of SEAL Team set up an intense series finale to air amid the 2024 TV schedule. That's saying a lot, given there are already emotions flooding all over the place. It’s hard to tell how the military drama will wrap up the main characters' stories and who might not make it out alive. That aside, though, ahead of the final episode and on the heels of the latest one, David Boreanaz shared a sentimental post with co-star A.J. Buckley. And, yes, I'm really in my feelings.

On “The Sea and the Hills,” Bravo prepared to embark on their last op as a full team, when David Boreanaz's Jason was called away for a task of his own: assassinating Ross Curtis, who had betrayed the U.S. Amid a stint with the United States Army Special Forces, Curtis was in Honduras in 2004 and trained with Honduran soldiers, including fentanyl drug trade operation leader Ramon Nazario.

So Bravo was once again being split up, and it’s unknown if the team will see their fearless leader again. After the episode's debut, Boreanaz took to Instagram to share a sweet shot of him and A.J. Buckley sharing a hug. Not only does that still represent Jason and Sonny saying their goodbyes but Boreanaz and Buckley symbolically parting ways as well:

Seeing the two of them hugging is very sweet and is enough to make a person emotional. It's even more bittersweet when you consider that this was likely one of the two stars' last times on set together, if not the last time they filmed together.

It's honestly disappointing that the series finale will be splitting up Jason and Bravo, but that storytelling decision does make the stakes that much more higher. Not just because both missions are dangerous, but whoever lives could be dealing with a lot internal conflict should their colleagues perish. With that, the final hug between Jason and Sonny feels so much more surreal and is something I did not need to think about, at least not right now.

It seems like David Boreanaz just can’t stop teasing what could possibly happen in the series finale. Just recently, he teased the final shot of the series, and it featured Jason in full gear, head to toe, ready as ever for whatever mission he’s on. Now that the finale is less than a week away, it’s feeling all the more real, and I wish it didn’t.

Even though fans are still mourning the death of Max Thieriot’s Clay Spenser, as well as Bravo, it’s very likely that at least one member of the team won’t make it out of the series finale alive. And, if I could take a guess, there’s a good chance that someone could be Jason. Here's hoping that in a week's time, I won't be sobbing for that reason upon looking at this hug photo again.

It'll be exciting and nerve-wracking to see how SEAL Team wraps up after seven seasons. I also wouldn't be surprised if David Boreanaz and the rest of the cast share more sentimental posts in the days to come. As if fans needed another reminder that the series is ending in a matter of weeks, Boreanaz took to his Instagram story to repost a photo from the show's official account, revealing that it was, in fact, the “last shot of the series,” and I am really in my feels:

I'm just so overwhelmed, as it’s really starting to hit me that the series finale is just around the corner. That feeling isn't be quelled by the fact that stills from the final installment are now being released, including the last shot above. The post also asks fans to speculate on what Jason Hayes is calling for. It's asked in a jokey way, but I'm legitimately out of sorts just thinking about it.

Back in March, David Boreanaz shared a grateful message to the fans in regard to his time on the series and thanked the cast and crew as well. It’s honestly still hard to believe SEAL Team is coming to an end, especially since it’s one of the best Paramount+ original shows. However, Boreanaz is ready for the show to end, as his body may not be able to take much more wear and tear, as he explained. The 55-year-old has performed stunts throughout his entire career in general, so it's understandable that he'd be ready to exit this show.

As for what the series finale will be centered on, that remains to be seen. So it's hard to say whether every member of Bravo will survive. It's likely that the team and fans are still mourning the loss of Max Thieriot’s Clay Spenser. Despite that, it wouldn’t be surprising if SEAL Team were to kill off one or two people in the finale. With that, I'm hopeful that the final shot David Boreanaz teased won't signify a tragic moment but one of pure heroism -- and satisfaction for viewers.

Many shows are ending or were canceled in 2024, and SEAL Team is on that list. The CBS-turned-Paramount+ military drama is in the midst of its seventh and final season, with Bravo’s missions being as intense as ever, both on the field and off. While fans may want more of one of the best Paramount+ shows, star David Boreanaz is actually ready for the series to end, and he explained why.

Boreanaz, who portrays Master Chief Jason Hayes, previously opened up about the toll SEAL Team has taken on his body and how he’s been constantly going to see the doctor. So, it’s not so surprising that the 55-year-old does not want to continue doing high-octane stunts and fights for the rest of his life. However, on top of the physical and mental exhaustion, he told Collider that Jason and the rest of the team are at a place fitting for an end:

As much as fans want more SEAL Team, I agree with him. This is definitely the best outcome, regardless of how the show comes to an end. Not a lot of shows these days have the luxury of ending on their own terms, so I love the fact that SEAL Team gets to.

With Jason struggling more with his TBI, Ray trying to put more focus on the veterans’ center, and Davis dealing with her new job and possible romance with Sonny, along with other things, it certainly seems like now is the right time for Bravo’s story to end.

That being said, just because it was decided that SEAL Team's seventh season would be its last, and Boreanaz was ready, that doesn’t mean all of Bravo will get happy endings. While it’s hard to predict what will happen in these final episodes, the Bones alum teased that fans could have mixed reactions to them. After seven seasons, though, that’s not really anything new:

The stakes are higher than ever with it being the final season, and this “ultimate sacrifice” makes that point abundantly clear. Fans are still mourning the loss of Max Thieriot’s Clay Spenser, and so is Bravo, so killing off another member of the team would be horrible. However, SEAL Team is unpredictable, and so is being out in the field in uncharted territory. Therefore, you never know what could happen.

At the very least, fans do deserve closure, even if it involves death. It does sound like David Boreanaz has been thinking about how the show will end for a while. Plus, the series probably wouldn’t have come to this decision to end after Season 7 if it wasn’t the right path.

The creative forces behind the final season of SEAL Team seem to be pulling out all the stops. The Paramount+ military drama (which has been crushing it on streaming) has high stakes amid its final installments. That's especially been true for Bravo following the surprise reveal that many SEALs are dealing with hidden illnesses. Bravo is now being watched, and the team now has a new member. Funny enough, this actor's casting signifies a Bones reunion.

Beau Knapp guest starred on the Season 8 finale of Bones in 2013, working alongside David Boreanaz -- who directed the episode as well. The two are once again working together, as Knapp joins SEAL Team as Drew Franklin, who’s been mostly avoiding opening up about his past. The actor spoke to TV Insider about working on the hit Fox show 11 years ago and how his audition for the military series brought back a lot of memories:

While Beau Knapp did only appear on the one episode of Bones, it sounds like that small role meant a lot to him, because he landed it when he was still trying to break into the industry. I imagine it must be surreal for him to have been directed by David Boreanaz early on in his career and get to work with him again years later on a different show (and in a more prominent role). Based on his comments, Knapp is as grateful as ever:

The Death Wish alum's character has been an interesting addition to SEAL Team, as Bravo has had a hard time getting used to Drew. As mentioned, Drew hasn’t been one to open up while simultaneously keeping an eye on Bravo-1 since Jason has not been doing so hot in the field.

On the latest episode, “A Perfect Storm,” which can be streamed with a Paramount+ subscription, it was revealed to the team that Drew was previously on Echo when the team was ambushed in J-bad years ago as he was back at base. That explains his closed-off nature, and you now have to wonder if he might discuss his past more moving forward.

I love that this casting marks a Bones reunion for David Boreanaz, and it'd be cool to see another before the series ends. Of course, the chances of that may be slim, since there are only a handful of episodes left. So, barring any major surprises, I'm not sure we'll see Emily Deschanel pop in at some point. Nevertheless, let's just relish the fact that Boreanaz and Beau Knapp have had an opportunity to work together again.

Regardless, fans have evidently loved being on the edge of their seats as Bravo goes on dangerous missions. Not to mention the characters' emotional personal lives! So it’s not so surprising that the series topped the Top 10 for shows on Paramount+, and Boreanaz took to his Instagram Stories to share a brief thank you to those who made it happen:

It’s pretty great seeing SEAL Team ahead of shows like NCIS and Criminal Minds that have been on for so long and still going strong, and even SpongeBob SquarePants. It just goes to show that fans are as engrossed by the series as ever, and it’s still a success. This does make the fact that SEAL Team is in its final season even more heartbreaking because the series could have very well lived an even longer life, but even Boreanaz doesn’t think he’d be able to do another season, so it was time.

That isn’t stopping him from still giving his thanks and sharing sweet messages about the show and the fans. Boreanaz has shared more than a few messages for the final season and is making sure that fans are tuning in. He promoted the fourth episode of Season 7 on his Instagram, which just dropped on August 25, and it seems like these episodes are still as intense as ever:

With this being the final season, the stakes are definitely raised. The Season 6 finale cliffhanger added on to that and now Bravo is being carefully watched. There’s also the fact that Davis now has a new job, and Sonny is still grieving Clay, as is the rest of the team. It’s hard to tell what will happen in these final episodes, but the fans already seem to be loving it, no matter how intense and emotional they are.

It wouldn’t be surprising if SEAL Team continues to crush the charts on Paramount+ throughout the remainder of its run. For me, it will be exciting to see what happens with this final season and how Bravo’s story wraps up. New episodes drop on Sundays only on Paramount+.

The end of SEAL Team is coming on the 2024 TV schedule, as the Paramount+ series enters its seventh and final season. The military drama has gone through a roller coaster with the intense action sequences and emotional storylines, but it was only a matter of time before Bravo’s story came to a close. Not surprisingly, it’s taken a toll on David Boreanaz physically, and yikes is all I have to say after hearing him open up about it.

Having played Master Chief Jason Hayes since the beginning, Boreanaz has gone through an awful lot, and he has likely put a lot of stress on his body. Procedurals certainly ask a lot of its actors and stunt team, and it’s not easy. The Bones actor told People that now is actually the right time for SEAL Team to end, because his body is just done handling it:

Between the explosions, shootouts, stunts, and more, you certainly have to be physically and mentally fit to do a series like SEAL Team. It’s also not all done with stunt doubles, either, as Boreanaz recalled a time he got hurt filming and had to keep pushing through, which is like what any actual SEAL would do. This shows another way that SEAL Team was trying to be as authentic to the military as it could be, minus some of the more gruesome aspects:

Even though they push through it while filming, once the cameras are off, the cast is definitely being taken care of. It also must be nice filming the scenes that don’t include all of the action, even if it’s not for long. David Boreanaz revealed just what he’s had done this year alone, and it sounds like SEAL Team’s finale came at a good time:

Despite all of the injuries that he has suffered while filming SEAL Team, the CBS-turned-Paramount+ series still means a lot to him. Boreanaz shared a grateful message as production was close to wrapping, praising the cast, crew, writers, and everyone else in the show's family. He also reacted to the final season news last November, sharing how blessed he was to play Jason Hayes and how much the show means to not only him but to the men and women in the military.

With Season 7 being the final season of SEAL Team, the stakes will likely be higher than ever, which might mean more explosions and stunts that probably require a lot of its cast physically. It’s hard to tell how the story will end for Bravo, especially following the shocking Season 6 finale cliffhanger. However, luckily, those with a Paramount+ subscription can catch the first two episodes of Season 7 this Sunday, August 11, with new episodes dropping weekly after that.

Before David Boreanaz played Jason Hayes on SEAL Team and portrayed Angel on the character's eponymous show and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, he played FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth on Fox’s Bones. Although the series lost its way towards the end, as it ran for 12 seasons, it still remained a favorite among viewers. With Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel and their co-stars in the mix, the series proved to be successful. You may not believe it, but the show had a very different name before Boreanaz became involved.

Fans of the procedural probably know that Emily Deschanel’s Temperance Brennan also goes by the nickname “Bones,” hence the title of the series. However, the OG name for the drama series was actually going to simply be Brennan. That was the approach taken for fellow Fox program House, which was named after Hugh Laurie’s eponymous character on the medical drama. So what exactly brought on the change? Well, via SlashFilm, creator Hart Hanson revealed in Bones: The Official Companion that it took a lot of time for the creative team to figure out the title, but they finally reached a decision once they saw the work of their two lead stars:

I'd imagine that coming up with a title for a show is hard, as a good TV moniker should be catchy and uncomplicated. That’s not to say that Brennan wasn’t a bad choice and, early on, that would've fit, considering that viewers were going to see the titular character interacting with other officers and solving cases. Yet it's hard to deny the chemistry between Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. Considering that Bones became more of a two-hander, it made sense to go with Temperance's nickname for the title than. Otherwise, the original idea would've suggested that she alone was at the center of the series.

Additionally, Hart Hanson previously explained to GiveMeMyRemote that Booth was initially just going to serve as “one of the many cops” that Brennan interacted with and wasn’t going to be in every episode. I'm so glad Hanson and his team decided to change course in that regard. I think most fans would agree with me when I say that the relationship between Brennan and Booth is what truly makes the series special.

It could be argued that Bones (which ended on a mostly positive note) is ultimately a show that aired too long. However, Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz’s chemistry made it worth watching all the way through. Since the show is still loved by fans today and is still viewed by Hulu subscription holders, could there be a chance at a comeback? In 2023, Hart Hanson said a revival is “complicated” due to the Fox and Disney merger, which opens up questions about IP rights. Still, Hanson seems to think a sequel series is possible.

When thinking about the show's beginnings, I'm tempted to think that it still would've been successful had it been named Brennan. But, then again, Bones really does have a nice ring to it. So shout out to the producers for realizing that a change was necessary after David Boreanaz was tapped for the production.

Ever since it first hit TV, Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer has been a cult classic series with a strong following. Despite the show ending back in 2003, it's still popular and the discourse about its seven seasons hasn't let up. Much like Gilmore Girls' Team Jess or Team Dean debate, Buffy fans have been debating for Angel or Spike. Although there are 32 times Angel proves Buffy should have picked him. 

Throughout its seven-season run on both the WB and UPN, Buffy the Vampire Slayer's seasons showed the good and ugly of her intense relationship with David Boreanaz's Angel. While some maintain that Spike was her true love (sorry, Riley) there are also fans who wanted to see her end up with Angel. Below are a number of times that Angel proved he was the right vampiric guy for The Chosen One, in no particular order. 

Secretly fighting for her in "Pangs"

Throughout Buffy's years on the air, there were a number of episodes themed to fit holidays. In addition to those iconic Halloween episodes, there is also "Pangs" aka the Thanksgiving episode. Buffy and Angel are broken up and he's living in LA, so he fights the bad guys of the episode without ever letting her know he was there. 

Fighting against The Mayor during "Graduation Day."

Season 3's Buffy finale is an epic two-partner, where Sunnydale High students arm up and fight The Mayor as he ascends. Angel is there as backup, offering some much-needed muscle against fellow vampires once the eclipse begins. 

Buffy and Angel's first kiss

Buffy and Angel were the primary love story for the show's first three seasons, also we also saw other couples like Willow and Oz, plus Cordelia and Xander. But Bangel's first kiss in the first season was iconic and shows how much love they had from early on.

Showing up in Season 7 to back Buffy up against Caleb

Season 7 is the final chapter of Buffy's life on TV, and sees her and potential Slayers fighting against The First Evil. Angel makes a surprise appearance to defend Buffy against Caleb, although she ultimately dispatches the villain solo with the help of the Scythe. 

Saving Faith

Eliza Dushku's Faith is known as the bad Slayer, and she appears in both Buffy and Angel over the years. In the spinoff, her relationship with the titular vampire is really explored, with him taking care of her despite Faith nearly killing him back in Season 3. What a class act.

The ice skating kill/kiss.

Throughout Buffy's run on the air, there were plenty of times when Angel came guns a-blazing to help his girlfriend. That happened on an ice skating ring in Season 2, where Buffy used her skates to cut the throat of an enemy. And afterward they shared a sweet kiss, with her even accepting his vamped-out face. 

Giving Buffy the claddagh ring. 

In Season 2 Buffy and Angel's relationship reached new heights... until he turned evil. But when things were good he gave her the iconic claddagh ring, in a romantic scene that showed their devotion toward each other.

By the end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 3, it was clear that she and Angel were broken; there was simply too much trauma and water under the bridge. But that didn't stop David Boreanaz's character from showing up at prom to give her a night of teen normalcy, with the pair sharing a sweet dance to "Wild Horses."

Christmas in Sunnydale

The Buffy Christmas episode "Amends" sees Angel haunted by visions of his murderous past, with the character eventually deciding to kill himself by waiting for the sun to come up. But in a true Christmas miracle, it miraculously snows in Sunnydale, and the sun never comes out. Instead, the two walk through the snow together. 

Never Punching Xander Out

Angel and Xander never got along, and things got worse when he lost his soul and became Angelus. The vampire took a lot of crap from Xander over the years and still held back from knocking him out. 

Making amends after Angelus tortured Giles

When he transformed back into Angelus, David Boreanaz's character went through a murderous tear through Sunnydale that left Jenny Calendar and Kendra the Slayer dead. Giles (who was always full of wisdom) was also tortured, and Angel spent the next year and change repenting and earning his respect back. 

Even at his worst, Angel wasn't as ruthless as William the Bloody.

The team Angel or Spike debate has been raging for years, as both of the vampires have done some awful things. But even when they were both at their most evil, William the Bloody was the more deranged out of the two-- including killing two Slayers. 

Showing up for Buffy after Joyce's death.

Buffy and Angel had been broken up for years when her mother Joyce died suddenly in Season 5. But he still showed up the night after the funeral, holding her in the Sunnydale Cemetary and letting her talk out her complicated feelings.

Buffy and Angel's only time having sex brought his soul back.

Every Buffy fan knows that Buffy and Angel's first and only time hooking up brought disaster. Angel had a moment of true happiness, which triggered the curse attached to him, and removed his soul. That's how intense their love was.

Never flirting back with Cordelia in Sunnydale

In the early seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, there was someone else seeking Angel's affection: Charisma Carpenter's Cordelia Chase. But despite her many advances, he never took the bait. 

Forming his own chosen family unit.

After Season 3 of Buffy, Angel got his own spinoff. And during that time we watched him form a chosen family and group of allies to battle the forces of evil in Los Angeles. 

Killing Darla to save Buffy

Darla and Angel were undead life partners for years before he got his soul, killing countless people in the process. So him staking her to save Buffy back in Season 1 was a big sign of love for The Slayer.

Being a father to Connor.

Eventually, during the run of Angel, Darla is miraculously resurrected. She and Angel eventually have a child named Connor, and Buffy would no doubt be impressed with how he tried to be a father figure despite the mystical circumstances.

Saving Buffy from The Master with Xander.

The first Big Bad the Scooby Gang faced was The Master aka one of the Best Buffy Villains. He did actually kill our hero, but luckily Xander and Angel were able to make sure she was quickly revived. 

Appreciating the real Buffy.

In Buffy's first Halloween episode, the title character dressed up in a gown to try and look like the women of Angel's time. Things quickly go awry, and he makes it clear that she real her is so much better. 

He stopped Buffy from taking her own life.

In the Season 2 episode "I Only Have Eyes For You", Buffy and the evil Angelus are both possessed. After Buffy shoots him and attempts to kill herself, he stops her.

Taking Harmony under his wing at Wolfram & Hart.

The final season of Angel features more connection to Buffy lore, including adding both Spike and Harmony to the cast. And Angel really took care of Harmony throughout that season, despite her being without a soul and ultimately betraying him in the series finale. 

Offering to fight The First with Buffy in "Chosen."

Angel showing up for the final two episodes of Buffy was exciting for fans, but it was ultimately a cameo. Still, he offered to rush into the Hell Mouth with the Potentials, although he was instructed by Buffy to form a second line of defense in case the Scoobies failed. 

Not wanting to drink from Buffy to save his life.

In the two-part Season 3 finale of Buffy, Faith shoots Angel with a poison arrow. The only thing that can cure him is Slayer blood, but even at death's door he initially refused to drink from Sarah Michelle Gellar's character. Talk about restraint. 

Giving up being human with Buffy.

In Season 1 of Angel, Sarah Michelle Gellar pops up as Buffy. In this episode Angel is briefly turned human, finally allowing him and his true love to have their time in the sun. But he would go on to sacrifice this to continue saving the world.

Telling Buffy she's the only person he's ever loved.

Angel had a hard life, both before and after he became a vampire. So when he tells Buffy she's the only person he's ever loved during Season 3's "Earshot", you know he means it.

Comforting Buffy when she has visions of him dying.

One of the gifts that comes with being a Slayer is prophetic visions. This can be horrifying at times for Buffy, but Angel was there to comfort her when she had nightmares about him dying. Which of course, he did. 

Letting Buffy kill him.

In the Season 2 finale, Angelus is wreaking havoc, including helping to kill Kendra. Buffy is tasked with killing her true love, and even after he gets his Soul back he lets it happen... and even forgives her after he's miraculously resurrected. 

Sending Faith home with Willow to fight The First

Faith and Angel's unique relationship is fleshed out further in Season 4 of the spinoff. After Willow once again restores his soul, he sends Faith to Sunnydale to help the Scoobies against The First Evil.

Walking home with Buffy in "Some Assembly Required."

Some of Angel and Buffy's best moments were outside of fighting Evil, where the pair could behave like a normal couple. Case in point: when the pair walked home together in "Some Assembly Required" early in Season 2.

Hiring Cordelia for Angel Investigations 

Cordelia and Angel become an unlikely duo during Angel. And that's largely because the title character hired Cordelia to help him run his investigative firm early in its life. 

Respecting Buffy's privacy while they were broken up.

Buffy and Angel never stop having strong feelings toward each other, even when they split up. Angel respected her need for space, including protecting her during "Pangs" without letting the Slayer know he was back in town. Despite this, the debate about Team Spike or Team Angel will likely rage on.

Among the many shows ending or canceled in 2024 is SEAL Team, and filming recently wrapped on the military drama. Lead actor David Boreanaz dropped a grateful message to signify the occasion, and it seems he's ready to accept the end of the show. While a premiere date has yet to be announced, the cast and crew as a whole are seemingly saying goodbye and taking their next steps. On that note, Boreanaz is already looking ahead to the future that may or may not involve him following in the footsteps of Taylor Sheridan. 

The veteran actor has been consistently working in Hollywood for over two decades now. He's played a vampire on Buffy and Angel, portrayed an FBI Special Agent on Bones and is now playing the leader of a Navy SEAL team. And there have been many other roles for him in between. While one would think that he'd desire a break after SEAL Team, that is far from his mind. He admitted to Variety that he has been talking with the show's current platform, Paramount+, about the future:

Since SEAL Team moved to Paramount+ from CBS, the series has done exceptionally well. At one point, a standalone film adapted from the show was even in development, though it's since been scrapped. It sounds like David Boreanaz has a lot of ideas in mind and even wants to have a whole universe of shows just like Paramount’s own Taylor Sheridan, who has various films and shows under his belt:

On top of acting, the multihyphenate has directed episodes of SEAL Team, Bones, The Finder and Angel. He also served as a co-producer on Bones and is an executive producer on SEAL Team. So it’s not like he’d be going into uncharted territory from a professional standpoint. It's becoming more commonplace for actors to branch out and work more behind the camera. In the case of David Boreanaz, it's exciting to know that he's very much interested in bringing other projects to life. Considering how popular he is, the best streaming services may even have to battle it out for his upcoming productions if Paramount+ doesn't scoop them all up. He also said:

While nothing has been confirmed as of yet for the star's next project post-SEAL Team, he certainly seems to be taking a proactive approach. As a fan, I'm eager to hear about what he's currently cooking up. It may be too early to say he'll end up creating a universe like Yellowstone's, though I could certainly see the actor/director producing such a franchise and becoming a Taylor Sheridan-like figureheard.

In the meantime, Paramount+ subscribers should keep their eyes and ears open for news on the seventh and final season of SEAL Team and continue to check the 2024 TV schedule. Fans will have to say goodbye to Jason Hayes and Bravo soon, but the news of David Boreanaz already making plans for the future should serve as a comforting fact for avid viewers.

It’s been 20 years since David Boreanaz last portrayed the vampire Angel on either Buffy the Vampire Slayer or its spinoff Angel, but that part of his career is still very popular, thanks to streaming. More recently, we can also attribute some of the continued buzz to social media. That's because Boreanaz has shared throwbacks to his Buffy and Angel days on occasion, and fans are still living for them. Now, his latest pic is making fans feel all hot and bothered, and that includes a Family Guy star. 

For “Flashback Friday,” David Boreanaz shared a photo from his Buffy days on Instagram but dubbed the day “Backside Friday” for one particular reason. The photo shows him baring his back and seemingly feeding on Sarah Michelle Gellar, who even commented that she’s “sleeping on the job again.” The photo is surely “Hot,” as fellow series lum Emma Caulfield said, and you can see it for yourself:

Whew, you might want to fan yourself a bit after looking at that pic. That's surely a behind-the-scenes image for the books and, based on their comments, I'm not sure franchise devotees are ever going to forget it:

What really makes the post is not only the comments from Buffy stars and the fans, but perhaps also the comment from one Mike Henry. The actor, who voiced Cleveland Brown on Family Guy and The Cleveland Show and continues to do work on the former series, shared an all too relatable comment, and it’s pretty great:

What's particularly great is that David Boreanaz replied to Mike Henry’s comment, saying “no doubt.” He clearly knows what he does to fans and even fellow actors. Which surely explains these very hot photos, and I really hope he keeps sharing them. Fans have long pined for more from this fictional universe filled with vampires and other scary beings. While Buffy somewhat returned via the short-lived Audible series Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, fans are wanting much more, especially when it comes to Boreanaz's Angel and Sarah Michelle Gellar's eponymous heroine.

There have been many famous actors to play vampires, and the Justice League: The New Frontier alum is one of the best to ever do it. Even though he has had many gigs since then, including leading roles on Bones and currently SEAL Team, Buffy still seems to mean as much to him as ever. It’s always fun whenever actors post throwback photos from older roles, as it's a nice burst of nostalgia for fans.

David Boreanaz will soon be saying goodbye to yet another role, as SEAL Team is ending after its upcoming seventh season. A premiere date for the military drama's final season has yet to be announced, but those with a Paramount+ subscription should brace themselves for the beginning of the end very soon. 

The leading man will no doubt be hyping that show up as the final episodes approach. However, I hope that, at the same time, he continues to rep Buffy the Vampire Slayer and share throwback photos, including some as steamy as this latest one. Fans -- and Mike Henry -- can stream both that show and spinoff series Angel using a Hulu subscription.

And, because of the enduring popularity of these mythological bloodsuckers, not only do we also have a number of TV vamps, but many famous actors who’ve portrayed some version of the famed, usually-human-looking beasts. Eddie Murphy (Vampire In Brooklyn)

So many vamps have been seen on screen that even a comedy and action movie legend like Eddie Murphy has played one. The 1995 horror comedy, Vampire in Brooklyn, saw the star play the last member of a group of Caribbean vampires, who hits New York to find a mate so that he can continue his family line.

Tom Cruise (Interview With The Vampire)

Who could forget the 1994 film that gave us Tom Cruise as the captivating and cruel (And blond!) bloodthirsty fiend, Lestat de Lioncourt, from author Anne Rice’s legendary novel series, The Vampire Chronicles? Of course, it also gave us Brad Pitt’s tortured vamp, Louis, and made a star out of young Kirsten Dunst.

Dakota Fanning (The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse)

While there are some obvious stars to add to this list, let us not forget that the cast of famous (and soon-to-be-famous) vampires in The Twilight Saga films was quite stacked. That roster included noted child star Dakota Fanning, who portrayed the villainous Volturi guard member, Jane, who was able to mentally create sensations of pain in those who she deemed worthy of punishment.

Evan Rachel Wood (True Blood)

Several vampire-focused TV shows have hit the airwaves over the past 20 or so years, so we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the HBO hit, True Blood. Many of its stars portrayed members of vamp-kind for most or all of the series’ seven seasons, but Evan Rachel Wood made an equally impressive (bloody) splash as the Vampire Queen of Louisiana, Sophie-Anne Leclerq, during her recurring guest appearances in Seasons 2-4.

Robert Pattinson (Twilight)

Back to Twilight! It’s not worth mentioning this franchise without bringing up lead romantic vamp Edward Cullen, as well as the man who brought him to life in five movies, eventuall live action Batman actor Robert Pattinson. Despite the fact that his love interest’s portrayer, Kristen Stewart, would have dumped Edward “immediately”!

Chloë Grace Moretz (Let Me In)

It’s possible that we don’t get creepier than kid vampires in movies and television shows, and that’s what we got with Chloë Grace Moretz’s Abby in the 2010 film, Let Me In. She befriends a young loner after moving into his apartment complex, but is (you guessed it) hiding nefarious purposes he could have never guessed, which end up taking his life in a most unexpected direction.

Salma Hayek (From Dusk Till Dawn)

This might be the shortest movie vampire appearance on the list, as 1996’s From Dusk Til Dawn saw Salma Hayek play the fanged exotic dancer, Santanico Pandemonium, only for about five memorable minutes that simply cannot be forgotten once witnessed.

Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows)

Undead life isn’t always filled with glamorous globe-hopping adventure, gorgeous mates who can’t resist you and other perks, at least according to 2014’s What We Do in the Shadows, which concerns the rather mundane day-to-day lives of vampire roommates, of whom Taika Waititi’s uptight and nearly 400-year-old vamp, Viago, is among.

Theo James (Underworld: Awakening, Underworld: Blood Wars)

Another big screen franchise that depended on heaps of stars to populate its supernatural world is that of Underworld. Two sequels saw Theo James play the heroic vampire, David, heir to one of the main vamp covens, and lead Selene’s one steadfast ally during an important time in her journey.

Willem Dafoe (Shadow Of The Vampire)

Not many cinematic vampires are said to be based on a real person, but the one played by Willem Dafoe in 2000’s Shadow of the Vampire is. He portrayed a fictionalized version of the real Nosferatu lead actor, Max Schreck, whom the crew begins to suspect is an actual vampire because of his behavior and the strange goings-on surrounding filming.

Gerard Butler (Dracula 2000)

Speaking of vampires who are based on real people…Author Bram Stoker based his Dracula on Vlad the Impaler, and Gerard Butler played yet another version of the ever-popular character in a film from, yes, 2000. This tale sees the ancient vamp accidentally awoken by a group of thieves who find and steal his highly protected coffin, which had been watched over by generations of the Van Helsing family.

Wesley Snipes (Blade)

A Marvel character that will soon have another portrayer when the upcoming Blade reboot finally begins filming, the original action/horror trilogy famously saw Wesley Snipes take on the vampire/human hybrid titular lead, who’s a nearly unstoppable vamp hunter bent on taking down all members of the species who bit his mother and infected him with their supernatural blood while he was still in utero.

Colin Farrell (Fright Night)

If a scary and suave undead night stalker is your type, look no further than Colin Farrell’s Jerry Dandrige in 2011’s remake of the 1985 cult classic, Fright Night. He may have to eventually do battle with a couple of teenagers, but he sure looks darn good doing it.

Ethan Hawke (Daybreakers)

A movie that takes a more science-fiction approach to a world overrun by vampires is the 2009 film Daybreakers, which sees Ethan Hawke play a vamp hematologist who refuses to drink human blood and is looking for a synthetic option to their usual meal of choice that will stop humanity from being wiped out by his more brutal peers.

Luke Evans (Dracula Untold)

Again with Dracula? Why, yes! This time, Luke Evans plays a Vlad the Impaler who only becomes a vampire to have the strength, speed and ferocity to turn back an invading army in an attempt to save the people of his kingdom. Does it work out for him? Well, yes…and no.

Kate Beckinsale (Underworld)

There’s no mentioning the Underworld franchise without giving respect to the main heroine, Kate Beckinsale’s Selene. In the first film she’s a vampire looking to destroy the werewolves that killed her family, but she ends up uncovering a major secret about the two sets of creatures and falling in love with a human, instead.

Alicia Silverstone (Vamps)

This 2012 horror comedy sees Alicia Silverstone play Goody, an old vampire who tries to stay young and hip while helping her much younger bloodsucking buddy, Stacy (Krysten Ritter), get used to her powers as they try to abstain from the red stuff during their immortal and unholy (sorta) lives.

Pedro Pascal (Bloodsucking Bastards)

Ever wondered what working in an office that was slowly being overrun by vampires who care as much about the bottom line as they do about drinking blood would be like? Just watch Bloodsucking Bastards, where beloved The Last of Us cast member Pedro Pascal begins turning his employees into the titular immortals.

Jim Carrey (Once Bitten)

Jim Carrey’s first leading role came in this 1985 comedy, where he played a teen virgin turned into a vampire by an alluring, 400-year-old creature of the night, who seduced him so she could use his blood to keep her youthful appearance.

Paul Reubens (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

In the 1992 horror comedy that eventually led to the long-running series of the same name, the late Paul Reubens starred as Amilyn, a vamp doing the bidding of a much more powerful bloodsucker who’s ruling his kind in Los Angeles.

Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood)

While HBO’s True Blood was positively filled with the undead, few of them made as much of an impact on audiences (and the lead, Sookie) as Alexander Skarsgård’s cunning and alluring (but sorta evil) 1,000-year-old Eric Northman. This also happens to be the role that really made Skarsgård famous.

David Boreanaz (Buffy, Angel)

When it comes to popular TV vampires, no one can discount the reign of David Boreanaz as evil vamp turned heroic vamp (and then sometimes evil vamp again) Angel, whom he played on Buffy the Vampire Slayer beginning with the first episode in 1997, through wrapping his run on the fifth season series finale of his own show, Angel, in 2004.

Sterling K. Brown (Supernatural)

Sterling K. Brown may best be known now for delivering heartfelt emotions as Randall Pearson on This Is Us, but for four episodes across Seasons 2 and 3 of the CW mega-hit, Supernatural, he played Hunter and dedicated vamp-hater-turned-vampire, Gordon Walker, to astounding, understandably cold-blooded effect.

Kiefer Sutherland (The Lost Boys)

Even though Kiefer Sutherland was certainly a star on the rise by the time he starred in The Lost Boys in 1987, his part as apparent vampire motorcycle gang leader David cemented his leading man qualities and turned him into a household name.

Rami Malek (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part II)

Sure, Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the best Rami Malek movies to watch, but let’s not discount his turn as the powerful (and ancient) Egyptian vampire, Benjamin, in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part II, one of the few creatures of the night in the franchise who can directly manipulate things, with his specialty being controlling fire, water, air and earth.

Bryce Dallas Howard (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse)

Yet another actor you may have forgotten was fanged in the expansive Twilight franchise is Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard. She took over the role of evil, vengeful vamp Victoria (who’s looking to kill Bella in retaliation for Edward killing her love, James) from Rachelle Lefevre, for the third movie, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Tilda Swinton (Only Lovers Left Alive)

As one half of the very old vampire couple at the center of the 2013 dramedy, Only Lovers Left Alive, Tilda Swinton is a wife forced to visit the husband (played by Tom Hiddleston) she’s long been separated from once she realizes his lengthy undead existence has begun to bring him down, as she tries to force him to reevaluate the value of living forever.

Bill Nighy (Underworld, Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans)

Every good vampire needs a parental figure to show them the ropes, and for Underworld’s Selene, that role was filled by Viktor, who was portrayed by Love, Actually star Bill Nighy. His Vampire Elder turned out to be more of a threat than the heroine ever expected, though, leading to some tense moments between Selene and her mentor.

Gary Oldman (Bram Stoker's Dracula) 

Back to Drac! One of the most popular films about the character is still 1992’s Bram Stoker's Dracula, which saw eventual Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban star Gary Oldman play Vlad Dracula.

Christopher Meloni (True Blood)

Where there is one vampire there are generally enough to have a whole hierarchy among their brethren, and as with the series True Blood, sometimes we get to see what that could look like. In Season 5, Law & Order: SVU and Organized Crime star Christopher Meloni portrayed the Guardian, Roman Zimojic, who led the Vampire Authority and (ostensibly) set the rules for all vamps. Many, however, didn’t agree with his desire to have his kind fit in with human society, which caused a lot of problems for the calm, determined and deadly when challenged leader.

Nicolas Cage (Renfield)

If you guessed that this is yet another Dracula story, well, you’re sort of correct. 2023’s horror comedy, Renfield, stars Nicholas Hoult as the count’s titular long-time familiar, who’s tired of helping him kill innocent people and all the abuse he’s taken from the being who gifted him with immortality, as well as super strength and speed (when he eats bugs) 90 years prior. So, he gets help from a support group for people in codependent relationships in order to be able to live his own life again. Nicolas Cage is our Dracula here, and he’s a perfectly winking one, who still manages to be creepy and deadly.

Johnny Depp (Dark Shadows)

Johnny Depp has become known for his outrageous characters, and his Barnabas Collins is no different. The 2012 Dark Shadows film (which was based on the 1966-1971 gothic daytime drama of the same name) follows Barnabas after he’s cursed with vampirism in 1760, buried alive in a coffin, and then accidentally freed in the early 1970s. He rejoins the Collins family at the estate they still hold, while trying to keep his true nature a secret, but hijinks ensue as his past comes back to haunt them. 

This, of course, is just a small sampling of the famous actors who've portrayed vampires over the years, but if you decide to do a vamp movie/TV show marathon, you can start right here and have hours of entertainment.

SEAL Team is preparing for the end, much the sadness of plenty of fans who've been watching the show for years now. The CBS-turned-Paramount+ military drama is set to end after its upcoming seventh season, and it’s still hard to believe. While a premiere date has yet to be announced, the cast has already been posting some bittersweet messages from the set. David Boreanaz is continuing that trend, as he posted a grateful message to the fans that has me all in my feels.

The actor, who portrays Master Chief and Bravo-1 Jason Hayes, directed seven episodes of SEAL Team throughout the first six seasons. Now, it would appear that he's set to get behind the camera again for the seventh and final season. Boreanaz took to Instagram, likely either during or after filming his episode, and shared how grateful he is to have directed “some amazing actors and tell these stories for seven seasons.” He also thanked the crew, the writers, and his fellow castmates, declaring that there are many “more creative stories to tell":

Seeing the actor/director just standing there and taking it all in is pretty emotional. It’s great that he was able to direct at least one more episode before the show finishes production. It also sounds like there are still a number of episodes left to film, based on his comment that there are “more creative stories to tell.” I'm not ready to say goodbye to this series just yet, though I'm glad the leading man seemingly has some perspective amid the work.

Filming for SEAL Team began in early January, marking the beginning of the end. Of course, David Boreanaz was quick to share a bittersweet post as he geared up for his last first day. There are bound to be some exciting stories this year as well. The shocking Season 6 finale saw Jason, the rest of Bravo, and many of their fellow SEALs confess their hidden illnesses and disabilities to Command. At this point, there's no telling what's in store for them or what the consequences of their actions will be.

While it's going to be hard to see the series come to an end, at least it'll be getting a proper finale. As of right now, plot details for Season 7 have yet to be released. Still, I expect the series to focus on the aftermath of the Season 6 finale and maybe even the team’s continued grief over the death of Max Thieriot’s Clay Spenser.

A premiere date for the seventh season hasn't been confirmed yet either, and fans will just have to wait for more news on that front. I'd bet that in the meantime though, the cast will likely be sharing photos from set as filming continues. David Boreanaz's latest post is a keen example of just how much the show means to him, and it's also a keen reminder that he appreciates the journey he's had. And we're also lucky to have been on it with him.

Twenty-five years later, we're still not over "The Prom," one of the most beloved Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes ever. And it looks like we're not the only ones, as series stars David Boreanaz and Sarah Michelle Gellar recently reminisced about the ep on social media. 

On Wednesday, January 31, Boreanaz—who famously portrayed Buffy Summers' forbidden vamp love Angel on the iconic WB program, as well as its spinoff series Angel—posted a throwback picture on Instagram of his character and SMG's slayer heroine dancing at the Sunnydale High prom, captioning the post, "Time stands still."

His famous costar quickly took to the comments to add her two cents on the sweet snap, writing: 

Airing back in May 1999, "The Prom" was Episode 20 of the third season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It, of course, featured Buffy and Angel heartbreakingly realizing that their romance was doomed to fail, with the latter revealing that he would leave Sunnydale after the Ascension. (Boreanaz's Angel would depart Buffy after the Season 3 finale, "Graduation Day, Part Two," and would pick back up in the Los Angeles-based Angel spinoff, which ran on The WB for five seasons from 1999 to 2004.)

Despite their break-up, Angel memorably shows up in a tuxedo at the end of "The Prom" to slow dance with his ex to The Sundays' cover of "Wild Horses." Boreanaz responded to Gellar's sweet comment with a heart emoji of his own, a sentiment seemingly shared by the multitude of Buffy-and-Angel shippers who also commented on the nostalgic post:

It's not the first time that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-stars have looked back fondly on their time in Sunnydale, though Sarah Michelle Gellar has been candid about some of the behind-the-scenes drama the cast experienced back in the day and has publicly spoken out in support of co-star Charisma Carpenter following the latter's allegations of mistreatment against Buffy creator Joss Whedon.

Gellar and Boreanaz were joined by fellow cast members like Michelle Trachtenberg (who played Buffy’s sister Dawn in Buffy’s final three seasons) and James Marsters (who played the vampire Spike on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) in celebrating the show's 25th anniversary on social media in 2022. 

And Sarah Michelle also honored her iconic TV character on Buffy Summers' 40th birthday with a special Instagram post in 2021, writing: 

Though there have been rumors swirling about a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot or an Angel reunion for years, it's unclear whether we'll see Buffy and Angel together onscreen ever again. The end is near for Bravo, as SEAL Team heads towards its seventh and final season. The military drama has had much success on Paramount+ after switching to the streamer from CBS at the beginning of Season 5. It’s been close to a year since the series got the green light for Season 7, just less than two months since it was announced that said season would be its last. Now, as filming begins, David Boreanaz has shared a bittersweet photo, and I am both shocked and in my feels about the realization. 

David Boreanaz took to Instagram to share with fans that he's started his final stint in the role of Jason Hayes, Bravo 1. While there isn’t much to analyze within the photo, it does look like he and the crew are in the midst of filming Episode 2 of Season 7, according to the clapperboard the Angel alum is holding. It's still a solid pic nonetheless, and you can check it out for yourself in the post down below:

Even though news of SEAL Team's end surfaced in November, fans still can't seem to face the fact that they will soon have to say goodbye to Bravo. Like many, r4chee admitted they weren’t ready for the show to end:

As of right now, very few details surrounding the plot of the seventh season have been made public. However, fans should probably expect it to deal with the aftermath of the Season 6 finale, during which Jason, Bravo, and other SEALs admitted their traumas to command and what they’ve been suffering from. Considering how traumatic the episode was, with the death of Max Thieriot’s Clay Spenser, the final season will (hopefully) a tad lighter when wrapping up the stories. That’s what flacker356 is hoping for anyways:

Narlybookworm, meanwhile, isn't so much concerned with the fact that the action-drama is ending, it seems. They're more fixed on the prospect of David Boreanaz soon being available to do other projects that may or may not include revisiting a previous franchise:

A premiere date for SEAL Team Season 7 has yet to be revealed, but it’s likely the final episodes will still be part of the 2024 TV schedule. The fact that filming has started is definitely a good indicator of that. Even though the series will be ending, fans can probably take comfort in the notion that the producers will want it to go out on a high note. I don't know about you, but I'm both excited and emotional when thinking about what might lie ahead during this final stretch of episodes. Here's hoping there's enough closure by the end -- and that David Boreanaz shares even more BTS nuggets like this photo.

Hopefully, a premiere date and more information for SEAL Team Season 7 will be released soon. As for right now, know that all six seasons of the former CBS military drama are streaming with a Paramount+ subscription.

For all that television audiences were amped up about the SAG-AFTRA strike finally ending in the midst of 2023’s Fall TV ghost town, the aftermath has brought forth a variety of big cancellations across both streaming and linear. One of the latest to face the dreaded axe: the CBS-turned-Paramount+ action drama SEAL Team. The military-focused hit thankfully wasn’t eradicated completely, with studio execs giving showrunner Spencer Hudnut and his team one final season to close out Bravo Team’s story. And you can bet that stars David Boreanaz and Justin Melnick had messages to share with fans when the news broke.

David Boreanaz's Response To SEAL Team Ending

Having headed up the majority of the intense storylines and situations that have populated SEAL Team's seasons over the years, David Boreanaz managed to develop yet another character that will live on in TV viewers' hears and minds for years to come. (Jason Hayes now joins Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Angel and Bones' Seeley Booth in the actor's pantheon.) And to be expected, he approached his initial response to the drama's impending future with the same poise and respect that his team leader would. Here's the first have of his reaction, as posted on Instagram:

By all means, given how tough it can be to keep a pricy scripted TV show on the air in this day and age, it's a wonder that SEAL Team managed to survive a shift away from broadcast to streaming. There are never any guarantees that audiences will follow a series and its stars from one platform to the next, but the fandom definitely helped convince Paramount+'s Powers That Be to keep things going for another three seasons. To that end, Boreanaz shared even more appreciation as he continued, saying:

Thankfully, nobody needs to worry about where David Boreanaz will be going next, as there's still a whole ten-episode final season to film and deliver to viewers. Although I guess part of that anticipation can now be mixed with dread over the idea of Jason and/or others facing the same fate that befell Max Thieriot's Clay Spenser in Season 6.

Justin Melnick's Reaction

SEAL Team has been a huge win for everyone in the cast, but perhaps even more so for Justin Melnick, whose past work as a K9 police officer landed him a canine handler gig, which then turned into a co-starring role based on his overall appearance. Six seasons later, and Bravo 5 (Brock Reynolds) remains a core part of the squad. He shared the following response to the final season news on his Instagram Stories:

The SEAL Team stars were already pumped about bringing more episodes to life back when Season 7 got the greenlight in January, though the process will probably be slightly more bittersweet now, knowing that this will be the end. At least assuming another streaming service doesn't swoop in with another rescue.

For now, all six previously aired seasons of SEAL Team are available to stream with a Paramount+ subscription. 

Some of the Bones creative team reunited this weekend, but it wasn’t for a gross skeleton gag. Instead, members of the crew reunited to support the WGA writer’s strike that’s made headlines in recent weeks. At the picket event, the creator of the series Hart Hanson said those who worked on the show are “in contact” with one another. Yet, would he ever revive the beloved Fox series? 

Previously, back in 2017 as the show was ending, Hanson actually spoke to Deadline about how in a “couple years or something, it might be a lot of fun” to get the band back together. It’s been more than a couple of years since the show ended at this point, but the dream doesn’t seem 100% dead. According to Hanson, “it’s complicated,” but the creative team is “nostalgic” about the series. The longtime showrunner spoke to Variety about why it isn’t as easy as just picking up the phone and asking for people’s “availability” though, noting: 

Listen, clearly figuring out this whole rights thing is complicated. The Disney and 20th Century Fox merger has been complete for a few years now, but it sounds like the provenance of old shows is a giant legal hassle that might make certain revival efforts more trouble than they are worth. Even without that, there’s a whole question about where content should be housed. Some Fox shows, like The Simpsons are randomly found on Disney+ streaming, while others like Masterchef are on Hulu. Some FX shows are on FX first and some are Hulu originals, like The Bear, now. 

Then you have David Boreanaz, who is very busy with a full time TV gig, as Seal Team was renewed for Season 7 on Paramount Plus fairly recently. He’s in the past also said he likes to “look forward” and not “backwards” when asked about a Bones reunion, making him committing possibly the diciest bit of this plan. Emily Deschanel, on the other hand, also seems to have slowed down her acting output, only taking work in podcasts, guest stints, and miniseries work in recent years, so I’m not sure how excited she’d be about the TV grind. And as much as I love Michaela Conlin, T.J. Thyne and Tamara Taylor, you can’t have Bones without Booth and Brennan. 

But is this really a pipe dream? Here’s what I think should happen. 

Yes, Bones should have a reunion at some point. Instead of going back to network TV, the show should do a streaming reunion and it should go more in the vein of Zoey 102 in that the reunion would be longer form. What I suggest is going in the vein of a Hallmark Movies and Mysteries series and signing the cast back on for 3 “episodes” or “movies” that are all like an hour and a half instead of 42 minutes. These could be parceled out ala Hallmark over a period of weeks or they could drop all at once. 

This would feel like a TV event in the same way that Sherlock always felt like a big TV event and it would give everyone a chance to work together in a meaningful way for meaningful storylines without marking crazy work weeks – which is one of the things the Bones creative team was protesting this week anyway. 

Obviously this wouldn’t solve any of the actual “Who owns Bones?” rights issues (or Boreanaz’s possible lack of enthusiasm) but it would solve some of the time stuff. Given Hart Hanson also called Bones “a happy place to work” – a somewhat rare phenomenon – I’d hope it would be easy to get people back on board. So perhaps we will be hearing about a revival sometime soon, no matter what format it might come in? One thing’s for certain: we’ll have to wait for the writer’s strike to end first. 

After fans had a rather traumatic sixth season with Clay’s death and SEAL Team’s Season 6 finale cliffhanger, good news finally came out about the Paramount+ series. Bravo’s missions aren’t over just yet, as the team will be back for a Season 7, and Jason Hayes himself, David Boreanaz, posted a sweet message to celebrate the renewal.

Following the news about SEAL Team’s renewal, Boreanaz was quick to take to Instagram to share a sweet and grateful message. It’s making me even more anxious to see what happens following the cliffhanger, but at least we now know that, at some point, we will be getting another season.

Since SEAL Team included a pretty shocking death last season, fans can breathe a sigh of relief in knowing that this won’t be the end for Bravo, and David Boreanaz is definitely looking forward to continuing the series. I just hope that there is less tragedy coming their way. 

Meanwhile, Boreanaz is not the only SEAL Team star celebrating the happy news. Justin Melnick, who plays Brock in the military drama, also took to Instagram to share his excitement about Bravo getting to ride again:

A premiere date for SEAL Team Season 7 hasn’t been revealed, but it’s possible it will still be part of the 2023 TV schedule. However, it’s hard to tell. It’s already been a couple of months since the Season 6 finale, so fans are surely on the edge of their seats for a premiere date. Luckily they know Season 7 is coming, but how different it will be after the events of the season finale will be something to look forward to.

The renewal also comes after SEAL Team hit 100 episodes last season, proving that it is succeeding on Paramount+ after its move from CBS to the streamer during Season 5. How a show does on a different platform, especially when it’s moving from a network to streaming or vice versa, can be a little tricky, but the series clearly doing well based on this news. Plus, David Boreanaz clearly loves the advantage of being able to tell more raw and organic stories about the real brave men and women fighting for the United States.

Even though SEAL Team included Clay’s death last season, the fact that Max Thieriot’s Fire Country also recently got renewed spells good news across the board. While it has been hard to get through episodes without Clay Spenser, at least the actor left for a good reason. Hopefully, Thieriot can reappear on the military drama in the form of flashback scenes, or a the very least, there’s some archive footage of Clay, because I’m still not over what happened to him.

Although Bravo Team has suffered some challenges on recent episodes of SEAL Team, the series itself has a lot to celebrate with the release of its newest episode, “Watch Your 6.” With this new installment, the show has officially hit 100 episodes! And in the midst of the celebration, leading man David Boreanaz shared his take on the key to hitting such a big milestone in the TV realm.

David Boreanaz is no stranger to hitting 100 episodes, as he’s achieved the feat on both Angel and Bones once upon a time, with the latter ending with 200+ installments. So it’s no surprise that Boreanaz would share his two cents on what it means to hit the 100 episodes milestone. While talking to ET about the secret formula, the actor explained that it comes down to a number of key factors:

SEAL Team is definitely different from Bones and Angel, but the recipe works the same, it seems. And it sounds like David Boreanaz thinks that this milestone is even more special for the military drama because of the subject matter and what the cast and crew have been able to do with it for the past six seasons. 

It's unclear as to what lies ahead for the show after Season 6 but, I'm sure everyone involved is just happy about reaching 100 episodes, and the landmark entry definitely made for an intense hour of TV. With the team back in Vah Beach after Syria, they took a trip up to Full Metal’s cabin to get away and throw an impromptu bachelor party for Clay. With Bravo 6 struggling so much lately, the team tried to their best to rally around him, and it was emotional, to say the least.

Though SEAL Team had an unknown future last year before making the move to streaming, the switch has proven to be a successful one, as it's now one of the best shows on Paramount+. It’s been nearly a year since the series jumped to the platform, and showrunner Spencer Hudnut opened up about the impact streaming has had on SEAL’s direction. The show has definitely been able to tell more realistic stories and get darker from a creative standpoint. (Clay’s traumatic storyline is a firm example of that latter point.)

2022 is proving to be a big year for the drama, and it’s not just because it hit 100 episodes. Earlier this year, Paramount+ announced a SEAL Team movie. The film is going to be a standalone project, but no other information has been released as of this writing. 

When the series began filming Season 6, David Boreanaz posted a photo from the show's early days, and it was definitely quite the throwback. Bravo has gone through a lot in these last 100 episodes, and one can only hope that we'll continue to see their adventures for another 100!

New episodes of SEAL Team premiere on Sundays, so be sure to grab a Paramount+ subscription!

There has been very little information regarding the upcoming sixth season of Paramount+’s SEAL Team beyond that initial renewal news, but after David Boreanaz hyped up the new season with a throwback photo, actual details have finally dropped in the form of an action-packed and emotional trailer that also revealed the premiere date. And guess what? Boreanaz's Jason Hayes will be back on our TVs even sooner than we thought!

Paramount+ unveiled the trailer for Season 6, as seen above, which previews an emotional time for Bravo Team following the aftermath of that ambush in Mali in the Season 5 finale. The trailer also revealed that the team will be back on September 18, which is less than a month away! After so long waiting for more details, this is definitely a surprise that I am happy to embrace.

Considering SEAL Team has been filming Season 6 since June, an early fall premiere date isn’t necessarily a surprise choice in general, since that matches up with how things play out for network dramas. (Even ones that flipped from linear TV to streaming.) However, the surprise here is based on the lack of teasy info, casting news, and other details prior to getting this lump sum treasure. But while the wait appears to have been worth it, the trailer seems to indicate that not everyone will make it to the end of the season.

After Bravo Team got ambushed, the question has been who would be surviving, and who wouldn’t be. With Max Thieriot focusing on his new CBS series Fire Country, Clay seemed likely to suffer the brunt of it, and such theories were proven right in the trailer. Bravo-6 was seriously injured and landed in the hospital, unsure of his future. Hopefully, he'll recover just fine and possibly be benched for a while, though he may choose to leave Bravo altogether to be with his family. 

Meanwhile, it’s also important to note that Bravo will be going on a long-term op in Syria, with Jason telling Ray that their first op without Clay could be their last one. It’s unclear what he means exactly, whether it could be deadly for all the protagonists, or that it could be the op that convinces everyone to bow out of the military to spend more time with their families and loved ones. It’ll be a season that longtime fans won’t want to miss, even if we may need to get some tissues ready for some emotional moments.

SEAL Team fans will not only be looking forward to Season 6, but with Paramount+ also developing a new SEAL Team movie, even more is in store for streaming audiences. Not much information has been released about the movie, as it goes, but at least the series coming back much sooner than expected should surely help tie everyone over.

Fans are getting closer to finally being reunited with Bravo Team after what seems like an eternity. It's been months since SEAL Team’s explosive Season 5 finale, and many are eager to learn what's next. In the meantime, David Boreanaz has been sharing sweet behind-the-scenes pics. Back in June, Boreanaz shared a fun BTS picture when Season 6 began filming but, now, he's throwing things back a ways while hyping up the upcoming season of the Paramount+ series.

It has definitely been a wild ride for the actors but more so for their characters. Bravo Team has faced some harsh stuff while on their missions over the years. It’s also hard to believe that the team is now headed into the sixth season, which sounds like it will be even crazier than what we've seen in the past. There isn’t any word on when the season will premiere but, hopefully, the cast will keep these posts coming, whether they're BTS pictures or more throwbacks.

When Paramount+ renewed SEAL Team for a sixth season, the streamer also announced a movie based on the show (along with more NCIS). However, details on the film are still being kept under wraps. This includes whether or not it'll actually focus on the characters we know or a new team entirely. Regardless, if the action hits as hard as it does on the show, fans should be more than delighted by it.

Early on, it appeared that Season 6 of SEAL Team would be without one of its main stars. Max Thieriot, who portrays Clay Spenser, is now starring in his new CBS series Fire Country, which is slated to premiere on the network this fall. Naturally, fans were curious as to whether Thieriot's Clay would return to the fray. Thankfully, it was reported in May that Thieriot would jump back into action for the sixth season.

It's exciting and nerve-wracking to think about what will happen in the sixth season. Season 5 ended with the team being ambushed, and things weren't looking good. Knowing Bravo Team, they will be able to get through it, but there are sure to be some lasting effects from the ordeal. I'm really hoping that no one dies, as I'm still not over Full Metal’s death. In the meantime, David Boreanaz's photos should be just the comfort food worried fans like myself need.

Paramount+’s SEAL Team wrapped up its fifth season some time ago, and fans have surely been awaiting updates on what's to come. We'll you'll be happy to know that your favorite heroes are finally back in action, as the military drama is currently filming its sixth season. And series lead David Boreanaz shared a fun behind-the-scenes photo that's enough to get one pumped!

SEAL Team's Season 5 finale ended on a cliffhanger that saw the Bravo team get ambushed while on a mission. Since then, many have likely wondered who will survive and who won't. David Boreanaz’s Instagram post doesn't confirm anything one way or the other, but the fresh snapshot, which shows him looking on as he stands on the set, is cool nonetheless. Take a look:

By the looks of the shot, it seems like Jason Hayes is fine, but it’s also possible that this is a misdirect. I mean, for all we know, the actor could be filming aa flashback that takes place before the events of the tense finale. Regardless of that, though, it’s just so nice to see the star back on set for Season 6.

And as far as we know, David Boreanaz will once again be joined on set by his co-stars, including Max Theriot, whose future on SEAL Team was in question for a little while. Thieriot, who plays Clay Spenser, has a new series headed to CBS this fall called Fire Country. And with him starring on that show, many wondered if he might pull double duty on both shows. Thankfully, though, it was reported last month that he will indeed return to play Clay once more.

As Season 6 gets underway, fans also have another project from the franchise to look forward to. Earlier this year, it was announced that a SEAL Team movie was also in the works at Paramount+. Details on the production are slim right now, but I'm excited thinking about what the producers have in store on that front.

Going back to Season 6, it'll mark the first full season that the military drama will have been on Paramount+ after moving to the streamer towards the beginning of the fifth. The move proved successful, as evidenced by it getting renewed not long after the finale dropped.

As of this writing, the streamer has yet to announce a premiere date for SEAL Team Season 6, and it's also unclear how many episodes it'll have. What does seem apparent right now, though, is that David Boreanaz and his colleagues are already in the thick of things. Here's hoping that he and his co-stars share even more BTS pics to keep us occupied as the season draws closer -- and of course, you can also stream past seasons of the show using a Paramount+ subscription. It was 25 years ago that Buffy Summers entered our lives as a vampire-slaying feminist hero, introducing us to a universe full of characters who continue to live on as some of the most memorable in pop culture. Sarah Michelle Gellar starred as Buffy, and the actress was among several of the former cast to recognize Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s silver anniversary. 

The supernatural drama aired for seven seasons on the WB and UPN, where viewers bonded with Buffy and her “Scooby Gang,” and while they likely didn’t literally relate to fighting demons and other kinds of evil, the series spoke to the universal horrors of the teenage experience. Those formative years can form forever friendships, and that certainly seems to be true for the actors. There was as much love among the cast as ever, as they took to social media March 10 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's series premiere.

Sarah Michelle Gellar gave all the credit to the fans for helping to make the midseason replacement a success. Without its loyal fans, she said, there wouldn’t be another anniversary, so “today we celebrate you as well.”

Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy’s sister Dawn in Buffy’s final three seasons, shared a throwback photo with “big sister” Sarah Michelle Gellar. She said that while Gellar may still be a “badass,” she’s still taller. Gotta love those sisterly jabs!

David Boreanaz played the vampire Angel on Buffy the Vampire Slayer until Season 5, when he went on to star in his own spinoff, Angel, which ran for five seasons of its own. He was also sure to thank the fans on his Instagram, and noted that while the show may be celebrating 25 years, it ain’t got nothing on Angel, who was 245 years old back when Buffy started, according to the star. (I'd say he looked pretty good for a bicentennial.) Sarah Michelle Gellar even commented on Boreanaz’s post, saying he is “My angel - then and now.”

How many of us out there are like James Marsters — still asking “What Would Buffy Do?” Marsters played the vampire Spike on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. 

Charisma Carpenter shared a whole slew of adorable throwback pics along with a lengthy caption thanking the fans. She said the fact that fans are still so passionate about the Buffy-verse makes all the hard work and sacrifice well worth it. Carpenter played Cordelia Chase for the first three seasons of Buffy. Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz commented with emojis on Carpenter’s post. 

Emma Caulfield joined the cast (and the Scooby Gang) in Season 3 as Anya. From the looks of it, the WandaVision actor is passing her love of Buffy down to the next generation.

Amber Benson played the witch Tara Maclay from Seasons 4-6. Tara’s relationship with Willow Rosenberg (Alyson Hannigan) was groundbreaking and helped develop Willow as one of TV’s most iconic bisexual characters. In celebration of Buffy’s 25th anniversary, she called on fans to join her in donating to the World Central Kitchen. 

It’s fun to see how much love the Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast still has for the series 25 years later. It clearly made as much of an impact on them as it did to its fans. Military drama SEAL Team was recently renewed for a sixth season at Paramount+, its new home after being on CBS for four seasons. And now, there's even more big news, as it was announced during Paramount’s Investors Day Presentation that CBS Studios is developing a movie based on the series. With this, David Boreanaz is celebrating the big announcement.

David Boreanaz, known as Master Chief Jason Hayes on SEAL Team, was quick to mark the exciting news on his Instagram. Not too much is known about the upcoming film, except that it will be a standalone project that won’t connect to Seasons 5 or 6. After the news broke, Boreanaz excitedly said:

It'll definitely be interesting to see just what the SEAL Team movie is all about though, if David Boreanaz is excited for it, there's surely something special planned. Hopefully, we’ll get more news on the movie in the coming months. I'm particularly curious to learn about the cast list, as I'm hoping everyone from the series reprises their roles.

Despite the SEAL Team movie being a standalone project, I'd assume that fans can at least expect Easter eggs that reference past events from the show. There's also the matter of where in the timeline the movie will possibly take place. Since it's a self-contained tale, it could end up taking place at some point way in the past, which opens the floodgates for new characters.

The reveal of not only a sixth season but a movie is a change of pace for fans and the cast. Last year, it took a while for any news of a possible Season 5 to be confirmed, even with CBS announcing renewals in waves. But the cast and the fans remained hopeful and campaigned. 

Aside from the movie, there's still plenty to consider when it comes to the upcoming sixth season. The Season 5 finale ended on a cliffhanger, which saw Bravo Team get ambushed and trapped, before getting shot at on all sides. At the time, David Boreanaz was unsure but “optimistic” that the show would come back and, based on that finale, I'm so glad we'll get to see more of this great franchise. The future is certainly bright, and it'll be exciting to see what lies ahead for not only David Boreanaz but for his fellow collaborators as well.

CBS-turned-Paramount+ military drama SEAL Team aired its explosive Season 5 finale at the end of January, leaving things off on a cliffhanger. At that point, it was unknown whether or not Bravo would be coming back for another season, though star David Boreanaz remained optimistic. And it was a good thing, too, because the streamer recently announced a Season 6 for SEAL Team and Boreanaz, Justin Melnick and more of the team reacted to the big news.

Shortly after news broke that SEAL Team will indeed be coming back for Season 6, the show’s Master Chief quickly took to Instagram to give his thanks and appreciation. David Boreanaz posted a short-but-sweetly enthusiastic message that will get any fan excited for what’s to come:

Meanwhile, Neil Brown Jr., known as Jason’s right-hand man Ray, went a different direction than his costar. His message contained plenty of thank you’s to the cast and crew as well as to SEAL Team’s newest home platform:

Meanwhile, Justin Melnick, who portrays Brock, posted his reaction to Instagram along with yet another stunt video. The actor has reflected before on doing big stunts for the Paramount+ Original and being part of the series itself, so it's no surprise his response to the Season 6 announcement was pretty, err, explosive. 

Toni Trucks, who plays Davis on SEAL Team, posted the same photo as Neil Brown Jr. with a short message that is just enough to get fans pumped for Season 6:

The news about Season 6 comes over a week after SEAL Team’s Season 5 finale dropped. The episode wrapped up Bravo’s Venezuelan mission and the team was able to reunite with loved ones and make amends in the process (if needed). However, they were soon sent out again, this time to Mali, where they were caught under heavy fire in the midst of an ambush with no way out. 

David Boreanaz commented on Bravo’s status following the finale, but his answers were as vague as you’d think. The Angel alum mentioned that it “opens doors” to who survives and who doesn’t, and it definitely puts the entire team at risk, especially with some getting hit like Jason and Clay. The finale was emotional and action-packed, and it looks to be enough to have Paramount+ renew the series.

The announcement is also good news for the fans that were campaigning last year for the series to get renewed after CBS kept dropping renewals. While it’s unknown when Season 6 of SEAL Team will premiere or who all will be coming back considering some, like Max Thieriot, have other projects in the works, fans, cast and crew will be able to rest easy knowing that Bravo Team won’t be hanging up their gear anytime soon.

Season 5 of the military drama SEAL Team dropped its intense finale on Paramount+ and it was filled with all the emotions and action that viewers are used to seeing from these stars. The episode ended on a cliffhanger, with Bravo being ambushed while on a mission in Mali, but the nature of the situation made it seem as if the episode could serve as a full-blown series finale if necessary. But is it actually ending?

The future of SEAL Team is unknown, as of now, since neither Paramount+ nor anyone else has gone public with info about renewals or cancellations. There are plenty of shows that figure out ways to make season finales work as series finales in case new seasons aren't picked up, though leaving things on a cliffhanger like SEAL Team did is a little less than idealistic for the fanbase. Star David Boreanaz doesn't have an inside tip on things, but he discussed the possibility of renewal with TV Line and said he is remaining optimistic:

It took longer for SEAL Team to get a renewal than most CBS shows did in 2021, or even just an update in that direction. The cast and fans were campaigning left and right until the point when it was finally announced that the show would be changing platforms. Since SEAL Team’s big bang of a move to Paramount+, it seems to be keeping steady, even if the streaming service isn't free with its viewership stats outside of mega-hits like 1883. Not even David Boreanaz is worried about its future, though, even with the cliffhanger of a finale, so that's as good a sign as any to keep the faith.

The final minutes of the Season 5 finale involved a montage of Stella’s baby shower, now that she's home with baby Brian, and much of Bravo’s families present. At the same time, the Bravo members were getting hit on all sides, until they were trapped under heavy fire with no way out. Bravo got some closure before spinning up, and if not for the final bit, the installment would have totally felt like a series finale. David Boreanaz reveals the meaning behind that ending, while claiming it wasn't conceived with specific finale purposes in mind.

Nothing is ever predictable on SEAL Team, and it seems like the Bravo Team members can never be happy for long. Despite their mission success in Venezuela, as well as finally reuniting with their loved ones and making amends, the team found themselves in trouble yet again. Even though "All Bravo Stations" does have the feel of a series capper, there issomething about leaving the team under fire with an unknown status of who survived and who didn’t that just doesn’t make much sense to officially conclude on. But like David Boreanaz says, anything can happen.

CBS-turned-Paramount+ military drama SEAL Team had an explosive Season 5 finale, which proved the series can deliver bigger stakes and events now that it's not on a network. Following a mission success in Venezuela, Bravo finally went back home to Vah Beach, reuniting with family and repairing friendships. However, the team soon found themselves spinning up again, this time to Mali, where they were ambushed. On the heels of this development, series star David Boreanaz is weighing in on the group's fate.

With the team getting hit on all sides, an emotional montage, which split between Bravo and Stella’s baby shower for little Brian, as shown. In the final seconds, Bravo was left trapped, under heavy fire with no way out. David Boreanaz discussed the wild finale with TV Insider, and he's well aware of the questions viewers likely have now:

That finale was definitely an unforgettable one, to say the least. And not even David Boreanaz has the answer to some questions that everyone is dying to have answered. With some of Bravo already injured during the fight, including Jason and Clay, it'll be interesting to see who comes out unscathed in a potential sixth season. Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait long to get their answers. 

At this point, it's unknown whether there will be a sixth season of SEAL Team, but following that crazy cliffhanger. But as a fan, I'd say that we really need one, after this episode. It's a bit nerve-wracking not knowing if Bravo will all make it out alive, especially since they all seemed to be at a good place in their lives following everything they've gone through. 

Clay had actually revealed that this would be his last mission with Bravo since he wants to spend more time with his family. Meanwhile, Jason was in a good place with Mandy and confessed to his daughter about his TBI. Additionally, Sonny made up with Davis and Clay.

Prior to it airing, it seemed like the season finale would end on a lighter note, with Bravo simply coming home from a months-long mission and finally reuniting with their families. But this is SEAL Team, so nothing is ever that simple. It should also be noted that Max Thieriot, who plays Clay, is developing a new series on CBS so it's possible Clay's storyline in the finale was a way for Thieriot to be written out, at least for now.

Ending on a cliffhanger with the status of Bravo unknown is a risky move for the show, and one that will keep fans on the edge of their seats until a renewal is confirmed. Fingers crossed we don’t have to wait as long as last year to find out the future of the show.

As one grows older, it's hard not to look back at the past and examine all the good, bad and even the ugly that's occurred. That seems to be the case for SEAL Team’s David Boreanaz. Having worked in Hollywood for three decades, Boreanaz has starred in multiple successful shows. Of course, most audiences got to know him as Buffy Summer’s vampire paramour Angel on the iconic Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff series. But since then, the actor has lived many lives. So when he recently took some time to reminisce, the star couldn't help but give his younger self some simple but meaningful advice.

While Angel is his most popular role, viewers have seen the actor become a snarky detective on Bones and a troubled Navy SEAL on the hit CBS/Paramount+ drama. He appears to be grateful to viewers for (figuratively) allowing him into their homes over the past few decades. As one would imagine, he has a lot that he would tell his younger self. However, when he gave his answer to ET Online, he provided some brief and relatable sentiments:

While it may not be a lengthy answer, it's hard to disagree with the beloved performer's logic. And based on his career longevity, it would appear that holding himself accountable and just doing the work has panned out well for him. In addition, the actor also said that he'd advise his younger self to pay attention to the details, which is rarely ever bad advice.

One would imagine that David Boreanaz has experienced his share of career ups and downs over the years. Now, three decades into a prosperous Hollywood career, it's more than clear that he's learned from his experiences. It's truly amazing what a little bit of perspective can do for someone. And let's be honest, in many cases, looking to the past can better help someone inform their future.

After the work he's done, it's safe to say that fans appreciate the SEAL Team star’s career just as much as he does, and they're loving his most recent venture. After the show's renewal/cancel drama that played out earlier this year, David Boreanaz showed appreciation to CBS ahead of the series' move to Paramount +. The streamer showed its excitement by offering its services free for a month. Let's hope this new outlet for the show is only one of many more fantastic things to happen for Boreanaz as time goes on.

David Boreanaz has spent the better part of two decades on network TV, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel on The WB in the late ‘90s to early 2000s, to Bones immediately after for 12 seasons on Fox. More recently, he's been portraying Master Chief Jason Hayes on CBS' military drama, SEAL Team, since 2017 but, now, he’s moving to a new television home. The series is preparing to make the jump from CBS to Paramount+ to become a streaming exclusive, and the actor got emotional about it in a recent message.

Following a string of campaigns to keep the show going, it was announced earlier this year that SEAL Team would be moving to CBS’ sister streaming service. This shift comes after a short stint on the network for the beginning of Season 5. The series will kick off the move with a two-parter that will start on CBS and end on Paramount+. Given his history, it's understandable that David Boreanaz would be somewhat overcome due to this recent development. And he penned a sweet message to fans on Instagram ahead of his departure from network TV:

The first four episodes of the fifth season have been airing on CBS. The special two-parter will see the Bravo Team spin up to Africa following a mass casualty terrorist attack. After the West Coast airing, both episodes will be made available on the streaming service. The series has done well for itself on network TV but, of course, streaming is a whole different ballgame.

David Boreanaz has spoken out about his excitement regarding the streaming move. He previously noted that the creative team will be able to tell more authentic stories of the brave men and women who are fighting for our country, without network constraints. This also means he can also drop a swear word here and there and not have it censored. 

Still, fans shouldn’t expect the show to change too much from what they’re accustomed to. A weekly trip to Paramount+ will be a little hard to get used to, but it's just great that the show has a new home that seems to have its best interests in mind.

Season 4 did end up a happy note, with Clay and Stella finally getting married, but Jason was experiencing some major headaches that will likely play a larger part in the new season. When it came to a renewal for SEAL Team, CBS kept fans in suspense right up until the end of Season 4. With streaming being all the rage these days, this not gives SEAL Team an advantage in regard to visibility. And David Boreanaz also mentioned before that they producers have room to tell more authentic stories that aren't limited by network restrictions.

The actor recently revealed what he’s most looking forward to exploring with Jason in Season 5, which is the character's children and his leadership. Bravo Team went through a lot last season so, hopefully they’ll be able to get a little bit of a break from the action so we can really dig more into their personal stories. And with that would come a bit a comfort for fans who are constantly fear losing another team member. It will be interesting to see what Season 5 has in store, especially when it comes to the creative changes that occur once the Paramount+ move is done.

Boreanaz recently spoke out about the move, saying that they have more of an advantage on the streamer due to having less restrictions. Being a military show, there are many storylines to tell with a different perceptive. There's honestly only so much to do on network television, and moving to Paramount+ gives the cast and crew the opportunity to really dig into the characters' storylines.

There's no telling exactly what is next for Jason and the Bravo Team in the upcoming season but, with the move to Paramount+, there will surely be heavier storylines, as the series has always tried to tell authentic stories about the brave men and women fighting for the country. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Following news that CBS’ military drama SEAL Team will be moving to streaming service Paramount+ after the first four episodes of the upcoming fifth season, series star David Boreanaz is speaking out about the show’s critical acknowledgment. Or, more specifically, what he sees as the lack of critical acknowledgment.

David Boreanaz spoke to TV Insider about SEAL Team’s move to Paramount+, after the show’s fate was uncertain for quite some time. Boreanaz and his costars had been campaigning for CBS to renew the series, and recently it was revealed that the series, along with fellow drama Clarice, would be moving to Paramount+ for the upcoming seasons. The Angel alum thinks that due to the nature of the series, it’s getting overlooked by critics. He explained:

Being a military show, SEAL Team tries to show the ups and downs of the brave men and women risking their lives for the country. The Season 4 storylines have involved more of Bravo Team’s struggles with everything they’ve been through, exploring their PTSD and new missions and everything in between. With the series getting another season, and even moving to a platform where David Boreanaz feels they have a bigger advantage because of less restrictions, hopefully SEAL Team will be able to dig deeper into the characters and we’ll be able to see different sides of them. And perhaps the show will gain more critical acclaim, as Boreanaz hopes.

Despite the complex but realistic storylines, SEAL Team’s lack of recognition from critics is not altogether shocking, as there have been plenty of shows that have been overlooked by critics that rightfully deserve at least some recognition. With SEAL Team’s move to Paramount+, hopefully critics will start paying attention to the military drama. David Boreanaz is not going down without a fight and it looks like he’s looking forward to telling more stories regardless.

The first four seasons of SEAL Team are streaming on Paramount+, with Season 5 premiering this fall on Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on CBS before moving to the streaming platform.

CBS’ military drama, SEAL Team, is gearing up for its season finale and, for the last month or so, fans and the cast have been campaigning to get the series renewed for another season. While it was recently announced that SEAL Team will indeed be coming back for Season 5, it’s going to look a little different, as the series will be moving to CBS’ sister streaming service, Paramount+. Now, series star David Boreanaz is opening up on how he feels about the move to the streamer.

David Boreanaz, who portrays Master Chief Special Warfare Operator Jason Hayes on SEAL Team, has been very open about wanting the series to be renewed, but it may not have happened in the way he or many others might have expected. Many shows that have moved from network TV to streaming have seen much improvement, like Fox’s Lucifer, which moved to Netflix when it was cancelled after three seasons. Considering that a show like SEAL Team has intense storylines to make it feel more realistic, Boreanaz told Entertainment Weekly that Paramount+ could help the show take some new creative swings that will add to the quality of the series:

Being on a streaming platform like Paramount+ means there are less restrictions, as the wouldn’t have to follow network guidelines. David Boreanaz expressed his excitement for how far SEAL Team will be able to go in the upcoming season now:

Despite SEAL Team moving to Paramount+, it will still air the first four episodes of Season 5 on CBS before going to the streamer. The series will join Evil, which will also move to the streamer for its upcoming second season.

All four seasons of SEAL Team are streaming on Paramount+, and the Season 4 finale airs Wednesday, May 26 at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.

It's that time of year when television shows are being renewed, cancelled, and given the greenlight at, sometimes, alarming rates. With all the moves being made right now, a lot of fans are already fighting to save favorites which have been dropped, or worried about shows on the cancellation bubble, which haven't yet been given new seasons. Luckily for viewers who enjoy that SEAL Team action every week, the show will come back for another season, and star David Boreanaz had a nice message for fans after the cancel / renew fight to save the military drama.

SEAL Team obviously has dedicated fans, as every show manages to catch on with some viewers enough that they'll be unhappy if the series were to get cancelled. But, if that fanbase doesn't translate to strong ratings, any show can find itself on the chopping block, and SEAL Team has had a bit of trouble retaining the nice numbers from its debut season over the years. While fans, and the cast and crew, had spent several months wondering whether or not Bravo Team would be back for Season 5 on CBS, it was finally announced that the new episodes are a go, and David Boreanaz had this Instagram message for fans:

Obviously, SEAL Team has, so far, had a pretty traditional path with its time on CBS, but, in order for the show to stick around for Season 5, some changes had to be made. The network's parent company recently rebranded the streaming service CBS All Access, which already held all of CBS' content from the past several years, original series, and a lot more, to Paramount+. Even more new shows and movies are coming to the newly minted streamer in coming months, so the plan now is to move SEAL Team to Paramount+.

Obviously, this "new mission" is going to a big change for fans, especially those who liked watching the show weekly when it hit CBS, so SEAL Team Season 5 will launch in the fall on its former network home with the first four episodes of the season, and then move fully over to its new streaming digs. Another CBS series, Evil, will also be making that move for its sophomore season (though we still, maddeningly, don't know when it will debut), and it sounds like freshman crime drama Clarice might also be joining the Paramount+ party for a proposed Season 2.

It's clear that David Boreanaz believes that all the die hard SEAL Team fans played a huge part in convincing the network to find a way to keep the series around, and he sounds excited for what Season 5 will be able to bring to them. And, while this new era for SEAL Team will mean that audiences will have to adapt, and they might not like that, just keep in mind that fans for shows like All Rise and Rebel now have to deal with complete cancellations, so this "pivot" is the best play.
