When I think of Baywatch, I automatically think of Pamela Anderson’s iconic role in the TV show. However, I just found out how much the actress got paid early on to be in the show, and it’s definitely a lot less cash than what I would have expected. While promoting her leading role in what’s apparently one of the funniest 2025 movie releases, The Naked Gun, the actress spilled on what she originally made and how that compared to David Hasselhoff's amount.

How Much Was Pamela Anderson Paid For Baywatch?

When Pamela Anderson was on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show with The Naked Gun cast promoting the comedy, the host asked what she was making when she joined the series in 1992. Here’s what she said:

That’s not a lot, especially considering that Baywatch was once one of the most watched shows in the world, with an estimated weekly audience of more than 1.1 billion in 142 countries in 1996, per Guinness World Records. Cohen followed up his question by asking when her first renegotiation took place. In her words:

In the docuseries After Baywatch: Moment In The Sun, it was revealed (via The New York Post) that most actors on the show weren’t happy with their paycheck, with Nicole Eggert sharing they offered everyone “like $3,500 a show”. As the actress pointed out, it was a big difference to Friends where they were making “$1 million an episode”. The cast also claimed that “everyone was disposable” on Baywatch, and if you didn’t “fit into their brand” and the “price they were paying you, you were gone.”

How Did It Compare To David Hasselhoff?

After seeing this interview, I also learned that Pamela Anderson actually spent most of her life in debt. In her viral Netflix documentary, Pamela, A Love Story, it was revealed that she spent most of her life dealing with financial woes, even though at one time, she was one of the most famous women in the world. During the same Cohen interview, the host asked her if she thought she made the same as co-star David Hasselhoff. Here’s her response:

I'd like to think that if Baywatch premiered today things would be different, but it is what it is for Pamela Anderson. The 58-year-old icon shared that her kids are “very protective” over the fact that she didn’t get what she deserved on Baywatch and isn’t getting streaming residuals because the medium didn’t exist when she signed her contract. It sounds like they are ready to fight for her, and perhaps change those circumstances.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced an entire generation of superhero movie fans to some of the comic book publishing giant’s most iconic characters, such as Iron Man and Thor. However, many of the heroes and villains we know from those Marvel movies in order have found their way to the big or small screen. Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man)

Some Marvel Comics fans have criticized the casting of Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, considering he was far older than when Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive arachnid at the time. While Tom Holland certainly fit the bill of a teenage vigilante better years later, Maguire is still remembered today as one of the best to play the role. Not to mention, he wore, arguably, the best cinematic Spidey outfit of all time.

Jessica Alba (Invisible Woman)

Following her Golden Globe-nominated breakthrough role on Dark Angel, Jessica Alba could be seen just about everywhere in the early 2000s. Ironically, she made her comic book movie debut in Tim Story's Fantastic Four as a superhero known for being unseen: Sue "Invisible Woman" Storm, who would be inducted into the MCU with Vanessa Kirby's portrayal.

Ben Affleck (Daredevil)

Ben Affleck would make an amusing, if not polarizing, impression when he joined a long line of live-action Batman actors for Zack Snyder's short-lived DC Extended Universe. More than a decade earlier, the Oscar winner cut his teeth in the world of superhero acting by playing the title role of 2003's Daredevil before Charlie Cox took over the role for the MCU in his own hit series.

Djimon Hounsou (Black Panther)

Djimon Hounsou has a small role in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy as Korath the Pursuer, but had voiced the Black Panther in a BET original animated series four years earlier. The Academy Award nominee would later share the screen as Korath with the MCU's T'Challa, Chadwick Boseman, for an episode of the animated anthology series, What If...?

Wesley Snipes (Blade)

Marvel's popular vampire hunter character would, technically, make his MCU debut when Mahershala Ali made a vocal cameo as Blade in the post-credit sequence of 2021's Eternals. However, the first actor to play the Daywalker in his own trilogy of Blade movies, Wesley Snipes, beat him to the punch by making a full, live MCU appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Dolph Lundgren (The Punisher)

It is hard to imagine Rocky IV star Dolph Lundgren with jet black hair, but he donned it to play Frank Castle in a straight-to-video feature adaptation of The Punisher in 1989. The role of the vengeful vigilante would be passed down a couple more times before Jon Bernthal took over as the MCU's official iteration, but the Swedish actor would later return to comic book movie acting as King Nereus in the Jason Momoa-led Aquaman movies.

David Hasselhoff (Nick Fury)

Samuel L. Jackson's performance as Nick Fury has become so definitive that Marvel would use his likeness in the Ultimate universe comics. However, the eye-patched secret agent's main iteration better resembles David Hasselhoff, who would, indeed, play him in 1998's Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., a made-for-TV movie that was intended to be a pilot for an original series on Fox.

Jennifer Garner (Elektra Natchios)

Jennifer Garner played a lighter interpretation of Matt Murdock's assassin lover, Elektra Natchios, in 2003's Daredevil and in her own spin-off film from two years later. While the Alias star would also reprise the role in Deadpool & Wolverine, the official MCU iteration, introduced in Season 2 of the Daredevil series, is played by Élodie Yung.

Chris Evans (Human Torch)

Chris Evans is one of the few MCU actors who can say he previously played a superhero from a different corner of the Marvel Multiverse. Years before he was cast as Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger, he starred in the 2000s Fantastic Four movies as the Human Torch, which he referenced to hilarious effect in Deadpool & Wolverine. The MCU later introduced its own official iteration of Johnny Storm, played by Joseph Quinn.

Lou Ferrigno (Hulk)

Before Bruce Banner's mean, green alter ego became the product of putting Mark Ruffalo in a performance capture suit, he was brought to life in live-action on the hit TV show, The Incredible Hulk, by Lou Ferrigno, standing in for David Banner actor Bill Bixby whenever he would get angry. The legendary bodybuilder also lent his voice to the role in the Incredible Hulk animated series and made a cameo as a security guard in both 2003's Hulk and the Edward Norton-led MCU debut.

J.K. Simmons (J. Jonah Jameson)

One of the few actors known for playing the same Marvel character both in and outside of the MCU is J.K. Simmons. The Academy Award winner stole the show as the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies before reimagining the role as a conspiracy theorist and podcast host in the Tom Holland-led films.

Doug Jones (Silver Surfer)

The MCU would introduce a unique version of the Silver Surfer played by Emmy winner Julia Garner in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Doug Jones, a master of roles requiring performance capture and heavy makeup transformations, shares credit for portraying the first "live-action" iteration of the metallic-skinned alien from 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer with Laurence Fishburne, who provided the voice.

Robert Hays (Iron Man)

It is hard to imagine anyone else in the role of Tony Stark other than Academy Award winner Robert Downey Jr., but Iron Man was the star of his own animated series years earlier in the mid-1990s. Voicing the wealthy vigilante was Robert Hays, who is best known for starring in the classic spoof movie, Airplane!, as Ted Striker.

Neil Patrick Harris (Spider-Man)

In 2003, MTV aired a TV show very loosely connected to Sam Raimi's Marvel movies called Spider-Man: The New Animated Series. Instead of Tobey Maguire, the actor providing the voice of Peter Parker was none other than future How I Met Your Mother cast member Neil Patrick Harris, who later contributed to the 2010 video game, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.

Eric Allan Kramer (Thor)

Years before Chris Hemsworth's definitive performance as Thor in the MCU made him a household name, Eric Allan Kramer of Robin Hood: Men in Tights and Good Luck Charlie fame became the first actor the play the role in live-action in the 1988 TV movie, The Incredible Hulk Returns. However, I feel obligated to mention that Vincent D'Onofrio's role in Adventures in Babysitting as Dawson, who bears a striking resemblance to the God of Thunder, predates Kramer's portrayal by a year.

Rosemary Harris (Aunt May)

With all due respect and admiration for Marisa Tomei, the Oscar winner is certainly not the first person you would picture to play Peter Parker's Aunt May, as she does in the MCU. However, Rosemary Harris is not only the spitting image of the comic book character, but also gives a moving, iconic performance as May opposite Tobey Maguire's Peter in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy.

Matt Salinger (Captain America)

One of the most notable screen iterations of Steve Rogers that pre-dates Chris Evans' portrayal comes from 1990's infamous straight-to-video feature, Captain America. Playing the title role is Matt Salinger, who, believe it or not, is the son of The Catcher in the Rye author J.D. Salinger, as the actor discussed with The Guardian.

James Avery (War Machine)

Most people know actor James Avery best from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cast as Philip Banks. Around that same time, however, the actor lent his voice to the animated Iron Man series as James "Rhodey" Rhodes, a.k.a. War Machine, years before Tony Stark's buddy was portrayed in the MCU by Don Cheadle... and Terrence Howard, of course.

Nicholas Hammond (Spider-Man)

Before the role was brought to life by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland, the first actor to play Peter Parker in live-action was Nicholas Hammond. The Sound of Music star led CBS' Spider-Man series and its two made-for-TV companion films in the late 1970s.

Jennifer Connelly (Betty Ross)

Liv Tyler appeared in 2008's The Incredible Hulk as Betty Ross, the colleague and love interest of Edward Norton's Bruce Banner. Years earlier, in 2003's Hulk, she was played by Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly, who was also subtly inducted into the MCU as the voice of Karen, the AI built into Peter Parker's high-tech suit in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Thomas Jane (The Punisher)

Three actors were brought in to play Frank Castle before Jon Bernthal was cast in the role for the MCU. The second, after Dolph Lundgren and before Ray Stevenson, and first to bring the vigilante into the 21st Century, was Thomas Jane in 2004's The Punisher, which sees the anti-hero take on a corrupt businessman responsible for his family's tragic deaths.

Cree Summer (She-Hulk)

Cree Summer is the prolific voice actor behind many well-known animated roles, such as Susie Carmichael from Nickelodeon's Rugrats. She was also the second person to voice Bruce Banner's cousin, Jennifer Walters, on the animated Incredible Hulk TV show almost a couple of decades before Tatiana Maslany was cast in the lead role of Disney+'s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Michael Chiklis (The Thing)

Jamie Bell and Emmy winner Ebon Moss-Bachrach (who also appeared on Jon Bernthal's The Punisher series) both played CGI versions of Ben "The Thing" Grimm in their respective cinematic adaptations of the Fantastic Four comics. However, Michael Chiklis admirably went the old-fashioned route and donned a heavy amount of prosthetics to play the orange, rock-skinned superhero in Tim Story's movies from 2004 and 2007.

Sam Elliott (Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross)

Following William Hurt's passing, Harrison Ford stepped in to play Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross for the MCU in Captain America: Brave New World, in which the military general-turned-U.S. president becomes the Red Hulk. However, you could argue that the most intimidating portrayal of the character is still that of Sam Elliott in 2003's Hulk.

Peter Hooten (Dr. Strange)

With the title's otherworldly, psychedelic imagery, it is not very surprising to learn that Marvel's Doctor Strange comics were first adapted for live-action in the 1970s. CBS attempted to launch a series focused on the Sorcerer Supreme with a pilot led by actor Peter Hooten, who was, of course, succeeded decades later by Benedict Cumberbatch as the MCU's official iteration.

Lisa Rinna (Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine)

While better known today as a star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Lisa Rinna also has the honor of being the first actor to portray Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in live-action in 1998's Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. In the MCU, the Italian-American noblewoman and CIA director is played by Seinfeld cast member Julia-Louis Dreyfus.

Conan Stevens (Man-Thing)

In 2005, SyFy aired a scary "movie of the week" inspired by the Marvel comic book character Man-Thing, played by Conan Stevens, who is essentially the publisher's equivalent to DC's Swamp Thing. The humanoid plant creature was painted in a far more sympathetic light in the Disney+ original Halloween special, Werewolf by Night, in which he was portrayed in motion capture by Carey Jones.

Ed Asner (J. Jonah Jameson)

Emmy winner Ed Asner's definitive TV role for years was cantankerous journalist Lou Grant on beloved TV sitcom The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the character's more earnest self-titled spin-off. In other words, he was a perfect choice to voice J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: The Animated Series in the 1990s.

Eric Bana (Bruce Banner)

The first live-action, theatrically released feature film adaptation of Marvel's The Incredible Hulk comics, director Ang Lee's Hulk, cast Australian actor Eric Bana as Bruce Banner. The brilliant physicist would later return to the big screen as part of the MCU, first portrayed by Edward Norton in his 2008 solo flick before Mark Ruffalo took over the role in subsequent installments.

Ed Gale (Howard The Duck)

Howard the Duck, one of the most bizarre characters in Marvel Comics' history, exists in the MCU, having first appeared in the post-credit sequence for Guardians of the Galaxy, voiced by Seth Green. The fowl extraterrestrial crimefighter made his feature debut, however, in a self-titled film from producer George Lucas, in which Ed Gale, a little person also known for playing Chucky in Child's Play, wore a duck costume on set while Chip Zien provided the voice.

Ioan Gruffudd (Mr. Fantastic)

Before Pedro Pascal added the MCU to his ongoing list of franchises by playing Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, English actor Ioan Gruffudd played the stretchy superhero otherwise known as Mr. Fantastic in Tim Story's Fantastic Four movies.

Sticky Fingaz (Blade)

Mahershala Ali is actually not Wesley Snipes' direct successor to the role of Blade. Rap artist Sticky Fingaz played the vampire hunter in a short-lived TV series from 2006.

After watching Plankton: The Movie on Netflix, I got in the mood to revisit the first feature-length spin-off of the late Stephen Hillenburg's beloved animated TV show, The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie. I could have watched the 2004 Nickelodeon film with my Max subscription, but I still had the DVD I first got when I was about 11. I also indulged in watching some of the special features, which reminded me of a behind-the-scenes detail that I had completely forgotten about, probably because I had blocked it out of my mind.

You see, one of my favorite moments from The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie is when the titular sponge (one of Tom Kenny’s most famous voice roles) and Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke) find themselves on dry land and are brought back to Bikini Bottom by none other than David Hasselhoff, who I was already a fan of in my youth from his role in the hit ‘80s sci-fi TV show, Knight Rider. It is a gloriously ridiculous sequence that still makes me laugh to this day, but after learning a particularly strange fact about it from the film’s making-of featurette, I may never be able to view it the same way again.

A 13-Foot Replica Of David Hasselhoff Was Built For The Scene

The Absorbing Tale of The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie shows behind-the-scenes footage of David Hasselhoff being dragged across a small body of water on a motorized device for the sequence in which SpongeBob and Patrick use his body as a speedboat. However, Mark Osborne, who was in charge of directing the film’s live-action scenes, explains that, for certain moments, the crew used a frighteningly realistic replica of the former Baywatch cast member that was more than double his size.

The scenes that required the life-like sculpture (such as SpongeBob and Patrick’s final showdown with Alec Baldwin’s hitman, Dennis) only take place on Hasselhoff’s back, but they did not stop there and reconstructed him from head to toe, leaving no detail ignored. There is even a moment in the featurette that shows the actor posing next to his 13-foot double, and I have no doubt it will forever be tattooed on my memory. Believe it or not, the story only gets weirder from there…

David Hasselhoff Took The Double-Sized Replica Home With Him

Seven years after the release of The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie – which we reviewed favorably – Hasselhoff was being interviewed by GQ when the interviewer asked him about a large sculpture resembling the actor that he keeps at his house. Lo and behold, it was the very same replica of him that was built for his cameo in the movie. He explained how he became its owner, despite some initial uneasiness in its presence, in the following quote:

According to a 2014 exclusive by The Hollywood Reporter, Hasselhoff eventually put up the replica for auction, only to change his mind just days before the event. However, in 2021, The Hoff announced on social media (including X when it still called Twitter) that “Big Dave” was going back on the block. I cannot find word on how much it was sold for or who owns it today, but I sure hope they are satisfied with the purchase.

David Hasselhoff is known for making several other memorable movie appearances, including his cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 from 2017. However, I still think his run-in with SpongeBob wins over all of them. Just knowing that the sequence resulted in the creation of a monstrously large (and just plain monstrous) duplicate of the actor, despite its disturbing nature, actually makes it even more special to me.

This past week, news broke that veteran actress Pamela Bach passed away at the age of 62. According to reports, the star died by suicide. Bach was arguably best known for guest starring on popular TV shows like Cheers, The Fall Guy and T.J. Hooker. She also famously played the role of news reporter-turned-restaurant owner Kaye Morgan on Baywatch. On that show, she worked with former husband David Hasselhoff, with whom she shared two kids. Following Bach's death, Hasselhoff released a statement.

Pamela Bach reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to People. LAPD found the actress’ body at her Los Angeles home sometime after 10 p.m. PT on Wednesday, March 5. After the news broke, David Hasselhoff broke his silence on behalf of himself and the daughters he shares with Bach. Hasselhoff kept his sentiments brief, but he thanked the public for their support and added a request:

David Hasselhoff and Pamela Bach met on the set of the (since-rebooted) Knight Rider, back in 1985, and they eventually began dating. The two actors tied the knot in 1989 and eventually welcomed daughters Taylor Ann (34) and Hayley Hasselhoff (32). It was in January 2006 that Hasselhoff filed for divorce from his spouse. Their split was ultimately finalized by August of that same year. In the aftermath, each of the stars was awarded custody of one of their children.

Amid her various roles, the Tulsa native’s most famous gig may arguably be her stint on the red swimsuit-filled Baywatch (which is streamable with a Peacock subscription). Her character, Kaye, was introduced during the two-part Season 2 premiere, “Nightmare Bay,” and was established as a reporter investigating supposed sea monsters. The Rumble Fish alum would continue to recur as Morgan through the iconic beach-set show’s tenth season. She also reprised Kaye on the spinoff series Baywatch Nights.

Neither Taylor nor Hayley Hasselhof have released formal statements on their mother’s passing, as of this writing. However, did appear to acknowledge the loss through a post shared on her Instagram story. The media personality grabbed a throwback photo from a fan account, which showed both of her parents at the Jurassic Park premiere from the early ‘90s. A simple heart emoji was added above the photo as well.

Pamela Bach’s death is truly unfortunate to hear, and would imagine that her immediate family is currently processing the news in their own ways. Hopefully, David Hasselhoff and his daughters are given the space to grieve their loss as they see fit.

Ozzy And Sharon Osbourne - November 2, 2009

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne were inescapable in the 2000s, so it was only natural for the pair to host an episode of Monday Night Raw in November 2009. Their Raw’s Got Talent segment is without a doubt one of the worst things to ever happen on Raw, which is saying something.

From 1978 to 1986, audiences tuned into Diff'rent Strokes, one of the all-time greatest sitcoms, to see what Gary Coleman's Arnold Jackson and his blended family were up to next (and to hear his classic TV catchphrase, "Whatcha talkin' bout, Willis?" Another great reason to watch the comedy was to see what celebrities might be stopping by that week. The following are some of our favorite high-profile guest appearances on Diff'rent Strokes.

Nancy Reagan (Herself)

Diff'rent Strokes had the honor of having a sitting United States First Lady on the show in its fifth season. Nancy Reagan appeared as herself, coming to Arnold's school and speaking to his classmates about issues facing the country before showing up at Phillip Drummond's (Conrad Bain) penthouse for a personal visit.

David Hasselhoff (Himself)

While he was starring on Knight Rider, David Hasselhoff appeared in a two-part episode of Diff'rent Strokes in which Phillip takes the family to Hollywood, where Arnold and his friend Dudley (Shavar Ross) meet the actor. Also appearing in the episode is Hasselhoff's non-human co-star from the classic '80s sci-fi TV show, KITT, who is portrayed as an actual, sentient, AI-equipped car, despite being voiced by Jim Ward and not William Daniels.

Ed "Too Tall" Jones (Himself)

In 1981, Ed Jones (nicknamed "Too Tall" for his 6'9" stature) was playing for the Dallas Cowboys as a defensive end. That same year, he appeared on a Season 3 episode of Diff'rent Strokes in which he visited the Drummond residence, which prompted Arnold to demonstrate his skills as a magician.

Milton Berle (Rabbi Morris)

In the Season 6 episode, "The Bar Mitzvah Boy," Arnold sees the plentiful display of gifts his Jewish friend receives for his Bar Mitzvah, which inspires him to consider joining the faith himself. That is how he crosses paths with Rabbi Morris, who is played by comedy legend Milton Berle, who was best known then for appearing in many hilarious celebrity roasts and delivering some of the best ribbing humor around.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Mr. Wilkes)

Many of basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's most notable TV appearances saw him portray himself but he changed things up when he guest-starred on Diff'rent Strokes. The actor (also known for starring in one of the best spoof movies, 1980's Airplane!) was in two episodes as Mr. Wilkes, a teacher whom Arnold and his classmates always fail to outsmart.

Muhammad Ali (Himself)

In the Season 2 episode, "Arnold's Hero," Arnold gets to meet his most beloved idol, Muhammad Ali, appearing as himself, by a troubling means. He enlists Willis (Todd Bridges) and Kimberly (Dana Plato) to coerce the boxing legend to visit the penthouse by convincing him that their little brother is at death's door.

Lance Parrish (Himself)

In Season 7's "Baseball Blues," Phillip takes over for Sam (Danny Cooksey, who was a major casting shake-up for the show) little league coach after he quits but the team soon begins to suffer from his methods. Luckily, he is able to receive some help from a sponsor for one of his favorite charities, then Detroit Tigers catcher Lance Parrish.

John Astin (C.W.)

Best known as the first actor to play Gomez in the 1964 sitcom adaptation of Charles Addams' iconic comic strip, The Addams Family, John Astin also had a memorable guest appearance on Diff'rent Strokes. The actor, appropriately, appeared in a "creepy and kooky" episode called "A Haunting We Will Go," in which Arnold and Sam suspect that a nearby house is inhabited by spirits and decided to look into the matter themselves.

Clarence Clemons (Mr. Kingsley)

In the Season 8 episode, "So You Want to Be a Rock Star?," Arnold consults his saxophone instructor, Mr Kingsley, for help when he discovers that his skills with the sax could be a lot better. Who better to play the role than one of the most iconic saxophonists in music history, the late Clarence "Big Man" Clemons, who was essentially Bruce Springsteen's right-hand man in E Street Band?

Mr. T (Himself)

Following his success as Clubber Lang in the third Rocky movie and months after The A-Team premiered, Mr. T's larger-than-life presence complemented Gary Coleman's smaller stature quite well in his Diff'rent Strokes guest appearance. After Arnold meets the actor and wrestler, he adopts his distinct style hoping to win the affection of his crush, prompting the real T to, instead of pitying the fool, giving him a much-needed heart-to-heart.

Gordon Jump (Mr. Horton)

One of the most memorable dramatic moments from a classic sitcom occurs in a "very special episode" of Diff'rent Strokes called "The Bicycle Man," in which bike shop owner Mr. Horton becomes uncomfortably close to Arnold and Dudley. The predatory role was portrayed by Gordon Jump, who was previously best known as Arthur Carlson on WKRP In Cincinnati and later played the Maytag Repairman.

Janet Jackson (Charlene)

Beyond being a member of the famous Jackson family and before her own singing career began to heat up, Janet Jackson made a name for himself with sitcom acting, such as joining Good Times as Penny. Her second major acting gig was a guest spot on Diff'rent Strokes as Willis' girlfriend, Charlene, which became a 10-episode recurring stint.

Dorothy Hamill (Herself)

A Season 5 episode called "Family on Ice" follows Kimberly's training to achieve her dream of being a professional figure skater. Along the way, she receives help from a professional; figure skater: Dorothy Hamill, who won an Olympic Gold medal in 1976.

Reggie Jackson (Larry)

In Season 2's "Father and Son Day," Willis fears that Phillip may not be able to compete in father-son athletic competition with him and decides to find someone else to pose as his dad. He enlists the help of a gym member named Larry, played by New York Yankees right fielder Reggie Jackson in an acting gig that predates his hilarious cameo in a great parody movie you may have heard of.

Kim Fields (Tootie)

Diff'rent Strokes spawned a great spin-off TV show called The Facts of Life, in which Charlotte Rae's Edna Garrett (the Drummonds' original housekeeper) served as a housemother and dietitian at the Eastland School. One of the students under her care was Tootie, whom Kim Fields would appear as in a few episodes of Diff'rent Strokes.

Molly Ringwald (Molly Parker)

Before Molly Ringwald took Hollywood by storm, starring in some of the best movies of the 1980s (such as Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club), she made her acting debut on Diff'rent Strokes. She appeared in two episodes, fitting in the role of a girl named Molly, who was friends with Kimberly.

Dabney Coleman (Fred Tanner)

Emmy winner Dabney Coleman (no relation to Gary) appeared on the two-part Season 2 premiere of Diff'rent Strokes as Fred Tanner, whose daughter, Alice (Rachel Jacobs), shares a hospital room with Arnold when he needs an appendectomy. When Tanner requests to put Alice in a separate room because of Arnold's race, the kids decide to flee the hospital on their own.

Soleil Moon Frye (Terry Harris)

Soon after playing the title role of Punky Brewster made her one of the top child stars of her time, Soleil Moon Frye earned a guest spot on Diff'rent Strokes in the sitcom's seventh season. She plays Terry, whom Sam befriends and invites her over for a sleepover.

Shari Belafonte-Harper (Monique)

One of the earliest acting roles of Shari Belafonte-Harper, daughter of Harry Belafonte, was a guest spot on Diff'rent Strokes as Monique, a cocktail server who agrees to go out with Willis, with help from a fake ID, phony mustache, and the alias Ronaldo. However, it all blows up in the teenager's face when his girlfriend, Charlene, catches him trying to keep the older woman a secret.

Hoyt Axton (Wes McKinney)

Some might recognize country music star Hoyt Axton's best as Randall Peltzer in the classic holiday horror movie Gremlins but he also had a memorable appearance on Diff'rent Strokes. He appears as Sam's biological father, Wes, who shows up at Phillip's penthouse announcing that he wants to take the little boy home with him.

Ray Bolger (Clarence Markwell)

Ray Bolger, who is best known for starring in the beloved kid's movie, The Wizard of Oz, as the Scarecrow, gave his final performance on Diff'rent Strokes in the episode, "A Haunting We Will Go" He plays Clarence Markwell, whom Arnold and Sam initially suspect is a ghost who haunts the house from across the street.

Mindy Cohn (Natalie Green)

Some episodes of Diff'rent Strokes served as crossover episodes with its spin-off, The Facts of Life, such as the episodes when Mindy Cohn appeared as Natalie Green. She first showed up in Season 2 (alongside Kim Fields as Tootie) in "The Slumber Party" and the following year (alongside Lisa Whelchel as Blair) in "The Older Man."

Jayne Kennedy (Mrs. Jenkins)

Jayne Kennedy made history as the first Black woman to be crowned Miss Ohio in 1970, which paved the way for a successful acting career that included guest spots on the likes of Wonder Woman, the TV series adaptation of Shaft, and Diff'rent Strokes. She plays a teacher named Mrs. Jenkins, whom Arnold discovers has a second job at a sleazy nightclub where she moonlights as a server.

Joey Lawrence (Joey)

Years before starring in Blossom made him a household name, one of Joey Lawrence's earliest acting roles was on a Season 5 episode of Diff'rent Strokes as a lonely boy also named Joey. Arnold asks Willis to serve as a "big brother" to the kid but he ends up spending so much time with him, that it makes Arnold envious. 

Andrew Dice Clay (Crazy Larry)

One of Comedian Andrew Dice Clay's earliest acting roles was Larry on Diff'rent Strokes. He appeared in two episodes of the sitcom's fifth season as Willis' friend, the first one in which Willis tries to smooth things over between Larry and a rival high school gang and another when he tries to enlist Kimberly to help Larry capture the heart of a crush.

Hervé Villechaize (Himself)

In Season 7's "Arnold the Entrepreneur," Arnold decides to start a business going door-to-door selling bug spray with Sam as his assistant (and mascot) and one of their customers happens to be Hervé Villechaize. The French actor was best known at the time as James Bond villain Nick Nack and as Tattoo on Fantasy Island.

Spice Williams-Crosby (Ellen)

Wrestler, body-builder, stunt performer, and actor Spice Williams-Crosby was one of the most underrated public figures of her time. Her guest spot on Diff'rent Strokes may be largely forgotten (she was credited as Marcelyn Ann Williams then) but fans of the Star Trek movies might recognize her as Vixis in 1989's Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.

Jami Gertz (Lindsey)

Early on in her career, Jami Gertz actually played two different roles in the Diff'rent Strokes/The Facts of Life Universe. In her Diff'rent Strokes episode, she played a character named Lindsey, who was the object of affection for a friend of Willis' named Larry, played by fellow guest star Andrew Dice Clay. Unfortunately, in trying to help Larry spruce up his personality for Lindsey, Kimberly accidentally attracts his attention instead.

Krista Errickson (Diane Alder)

In addition to The Facts of Life, Diff'rent Strokes also existed in the same universe as a short-lived NBC sitcom called Hello, Larry. The connection between the two series would later be explained in a couple of crossover episodes, in which Krista Errickson appeared as Diane Alder alongside her other co-stars.

Robin Givens (Ann)

The eighth and final season of Diff'rent Strokes featured a guest appearance by Robin Givens (right around the time she was cast on Head of the Class as Darlene Merriman) as Ann. Willis attempts to set up Arnold on a date with Ann's younger sister, Phyllis (Tyren Perry), whom he ends up having to bribe with concert tickets.

Forest Whitaker (Herman)

Future Academy Award winner and Black Panther star Forest Whitaker was in his early 20s when he appeared on Diff'rent Strokes in the guest role of Herman. While known as the school bully, he actually comes to Arnold with a favor to look after his girlfriend while he takes time away from school only to discover that the lady has developed a thing for Arnold.

Abb Dickson (Postman)

Abb Dickson was one of the most famous magicians of his time. For his guest appearance on Diff'rent Strokes, he played a postal worker.

When you think about popular shows from the ‘90s, Baywatch is a big one that comes to mind. In the show, we saw the professional and personal daily obstacles of lifeguards who were known for running to the rescue in slo-mo. Now, Carmen Electra, who was part of the cast of Baywatch during its eighth season, is joking about why the action-drama series was so groundbreaking at the time and how it involves equality for everyone being “pants off.”

Like other life-saving shows about doctors, firefighters, or cops, Baywatch follows a cast of characters doing important work. However, it was also prominent because the cast was incredibly good-looking and always wearing swimsuits. Carmen Electra, who played Lani McKenzie, opened up about all of this while talking to People about why the ‘90s series was so groundbreaking at the time:

Electra may be joking around, but she's got a point, because the show didn't just feature pretty women in swimsuits. Men had just as much sex appeal, and they also had to wear swimwear most of the time. So, viewers got to watch everyone with "sexy bodies" doing the "slo-mo run," not just the girls.

Along with the incredibly good-looking cast and those red swimsuits, another thing about Baywatch that the stars and creators couldn’t ignore was the campy storylines. Throughout the series, lifeguards were heroes in situations way beyond saving someone from drowning. There were earthquakes, shark attacks, volcanoes, and even an octopus stealing surfboards.

David Hasselhoff admitted in the new Hulu docuseries After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun what the secret was to getting around those campy episode plots:

It’s true the passion paid off. Just like show co-creator Douglas Schwartz said, every time The Tonight Show with Jay Leno made fun of Baywatch, the ratings went up. According to the Guinness World Records, syndication made the lifeguard series the most-watched show worldwide in 1996 with an estimated weekly audience of more than 1.1 billion viewers. Clearly, audiences adored the show for its campy storylines, red swimsuits and more.

With Baywatch being one of the most-watched shows in the ‘90s, now I’m curious what the numbers will be like for the reboot series that’s in the works. So far, we know the show will be run and written by Fox and Lara Olsen, and they produced Reba and 90210.

Carmen Electra also said she'd be interested in coming back to wear the iconic swimwear under the condition that she doesn't have to be in the freezing cold water so much. Seeing as the former Playboy model can still pull off the Baywatch red, and that she shares a good rapport with the OG cast during reunions, she looks more than ready to make her way back to the groundbreaking beach.

Harry Styles As Eros In The Eternals 

Big names pop up in the MCU all the time, however, they’re almost always well-known actors. While Harry Styles has had a few acting roles, it’s not his primary profession, so yes, it was shocking when the singer showed up as Eros, Thanos’ brother, in the post-credits scene of The Eternals. However, since the film’s release in 2021, Styles’ future in the MCU has remained unknown, leaving his role as simply a cameo and nothing more.  

Blake Lively As Lady Deadpool In Deadpool & Wolverine 

Leading into Deadpool & Wolverine’s release, the speculation about who would play Lady Deadpool was running rampant. However, it wasn’t all too shocking when it was revealed that Ryan Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively was playing the female variant of her partner’s merc with the mouth.  

Sam Neill As Odin’s Actor In Thor: Ragnarok 

While the Thor: Ragnarok cast is stacked with legends like Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Mark Ruffalo, Jeff Goldblum and more, Taika Waititi also assembled quite the ensemble of cameos to play a troupe of actors in Asgard who put on a play about Thor and his family. This included Jurassic Park’s Sam Neill, who portrayed Anthony Hopkins’ King of Asgard, Odin.  

Stan Lee As Various Characters 

While future MCU projects sadly won’t have any in-person Stan Lee cameos, we can always re-watch the Marvel movies in order to see the legendary comic writer. Before his death in 2018, Stan Lee made cameos in just about every Marvel project, whether it was from Marvel Studios, Fox or Sony. 

Some fan-favorite cameos from him included his role as a security guard in Captain America: The Winter Solider, a New York resident being interviewed on the news in The Avengers and an astronaut telling a story to the Watchers in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, among many, many, many others. 

Matt Damon As Loki’s Actor In Thor: Ragnarok 

In the play Loki orchestrated in Thor: Ragnarok that tells the (not so true) story of him and his family, Matt Damon was cast to play the role of Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief. Which honestly, is inspired casting. Damon also popped in the non-MCU Deadpool 2. 

Kevin Bacon As Himself In Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

Bringing a joke from Guardians of the Galaxy full circle almost eight years later, Peter’s hero Kevin Bacon finally appears. However, it’s kind of against his will, because Drax and Mantis decide to go to Earth and steal the Footloose actor to give to Chris Pratt’s character as a gift of holiday cheer.  

Miley Cyrus As Mainframe In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we see a group of Ravagers approach The Guardians. One of them is a robot head named Mainframe, and it's voiced by Miley Cyrus.

Trevor Noah As Griot In Black Panther

Much like how Paul Bettany voiced J.A.R.V.I.S., Trevor Noah voiced Griot, Shuri’s artificial intelligence she uses at her lab in Wakanda in Black Panther. 

Melissa McCarthy As Hela’s Actress In Thor: Love and Thunder 

Adding to the mix of A-listers playing actors who are playing Thor characters (try saying that five times fast), Melissa McCarthy took on the role of Cate Blanchett’s Hela – the goddess of death – in Thor: Love and Thunder. She joined the theatrical company that already featured Sam Neill, Matt Damon and Luke Hemsworth to reenact the events of Thor: Ragnarok in Taika Waititi’s second movie about the God of Thunder.

Kenneth Branagh As Asgardian Distress Call In Avengers: Infinity War

You probably know that Kenneth Branagh directed the first Thor movie. However, what you might not know is he provided a meaningful Easter egg for Avengers: Infinity War. He voiced the Asgardian Distress Call that was played after Thanos attacked their ship. 

Luke Hemsworth As Thor’s Actor In Thor: Ragnarok 

Who else could play Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in an Asgardian play about the adventures of the God of Thunder and his family? Truly, picking Luke Hemsworth to play his real-life brother’s character was fantastic! During a montage of news clips in Iron Man 3, Bill Maher pops up as they’re talking about War Machine’s rebrand into The Iron Patriot.

If you saw Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters on opening night, you likely heard applause when Charlie Cox made his big-screen MCU debut as Matt Murdock. While he played Daredevil for three seasons on his Netflix show, and he has returned as the character since this cameo where he was giving Peter Parker legal advice, this was the first time we’d seen Cox back in action in years. 

Tom Morello As Gaurd In Iron Man

Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello made one of the first cameos in the MCU when he popped up for a quick second in Iron Man. In the movie, he played a guard in the Ten Rings camp that Tony Stark was being held at. 

Joan Rivers As Herself In Iron Man 3

Along with Bill Maher and a bunch of other TV personalities, Joan Rivers popped up to rib on War Machine’s rebranding in Iron Man 3. 

Harry Dean Stanton As Security Guard In The Avengers

In The Avengers, there’s a security guard who finds Bruce Banner after he crashes into the Earth as Hulk. That guard is played by Harry Dean Stanton, who is best known for his roles in classic films like Alien, The Green Mile, Paris Texas and Repo Man. 

Justin Theroux As Police Officer In Iron Man 2

Not only did Justin Theroux write Iron Man 2, but he also had the smallest blink-and-you-’ll-miss-it cameo, per CBR. He played one of the police officers who arrested Justin Hammer and escorted Pepper Potts off the premises toward the end of the film. 

Rob Zombie As Ravager Navigator In Guardians of the Galaxy

In many of James Gunn’s movies, Rob Zombie makes a cameo. After doing that for Slither and Super, he lent his voice to his friend's first Marvel movie by voicing a Ravager Navigator in Guardians of the Galaxy. 

Megan Thee Stallion As Herself In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

We can thank Jameela Jamil for Megan Thee Stallion’s incredible cameo in She-Hulk. The rapper appeared in an episode of the Disney+ show during a courtroom scene, and then she popped up one more time to twerk with the titular attorney. 

David Hasselhoff As Himself In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

When Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill was a kid he’d pretend that David Hasselhoff was his dad. So, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Hasselhoff was part of one of the songs on the soundtrack – “Guardians Inferno” –  and it plays during the end credits. And at the very end of those credits, you can see his face pop up as he says the final words of the song. Talk about an epic cameo.

Brett Goldstein As Hercules In Thor: Love and Thunder

In the post-credit scene for Thor: Love and Thunder, Brett Goldstein appeared as Hercules. In his brief scene, he was shown speaking with Russell Crowe’s Zeus. It was thrilling to see the Ted Lasso star show up as the son of Zeus, however, it’s been years since that happened, and he hasn’t shown up again. 

Ken Jeong As Security Guard In Avengers: Endgame

Before the Russo Brothers were making big fancy Marvel movies, they worked on Community. So, it’s always fun to see actors from that show pop up in the MCU. For example in Avengers: Endgame, Ken Jeong appeared for a quick cameo as a security guard who is watching over the storage unit that Ant-Man’s van is in. 

Nathan Fillion As Monstrous Inmate In Guardians of the Galaxy And Headpool In Deadpool And Wolverine

You can see Nathan Fillion (looking like himself) as a major member of the supporting cast in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as he plays Master Karja. However, before that, he had a cameo in James Gunn’s first Guardians movie, because he voiced “Monstrous Inmate.” After that, he voiced Headpool during the Deadpool variant fight in Deadpool and Wolverine. 

Brad Pitt As The Vanisher In Deadpool 2

Now, I fully realize Deadpool 2 wasn’t technically in the MCU, but Deadpool and Wolverine is, so this counts. One of the most fun cameos maybe ever came when Brad Pitt appeared for a split second in the Ryan Reynolds-led sequel to play The Vanisher right as he gets electrocuted. 

Joe Russo As Grieving Man In Avengers: Endgame

Joe and Anthony Russo are best known as the guys behind the camera who led some of the best Marvel movies, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and, of course, Avengers: Endgame. So, in this big finale for the MCU’s Infinity Saga, Joe Russo made a cameo as part of Steve Rogers' support group. 

Yvette Nicole Brown As S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent In Avengers: Endgame

The Russo Brothers didn’t forget their roots, and included multiple members of the Community cast in their Marvel movies. This included Yvette Nicole Brown, who played a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent that Tony Stark and Steve Rogers run into when they go back in time to steal Pym Particles. 

David Bradley As Tower Keeper In Captain America: The First Avenger

David Bradley is a legendary British character actor, and you’ll likely recognize him for his role as Filch in the Harry Potter cast or as The Doctor in various episodes of Doctor Who. He also notably played a small role as the Tower Keeper protecting the Tesseract in Captain America: The First Avenger.

Danny Pudi As Com Tech #1 In Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The Russo Brothers adore their Community cast, so in their first Marvel movie, they gave Danny Pudi, Abed himself, a little cameo. For a brief minute, you can see him as Com Tech #1 during the beloved Captain America sequel.

While Ant-Man himself is played by a comedy legend, that actor being Paul Rudd, there’s another hilarious icon in this cast. Yep, original Saturday Night Live cast member Garrett Morris (who actually dressed up as the superhero on the sketch comedy show back in the day) appeared in this movie as a man driving a car that Ant-Man fell onto, and it’s fantastic!

Matthew McConaughey As Cowboypool In Deadpool and Wolverine

When all the variants of Deadpool appeared to fight Deadpool and Wolverine, one of them was Cowboypool. Fittingly, the Western Merc with the Mouth was voiced by Matthew McConaughey.

After seeing fanart of the former Superman as the X-Man, it was clear he was a good fit for the part, and it was incredible to see Deadpool and Wolverine act on the fans’ wishes. 

As you can see the range of these cameos is wide, and frankly legendary. And we’re sure that as Marvel continues to release movies and TV shows, the iconic cameos will keep coming. 

Soap Operas are not usually the first thing we think of when we think of “Prestige Television” but they have been popular since the dawn of TV and without them, some of our favorite stars might not have ever gotten their big break. In honor of that, we’ve compiled quite a list of famous actors who started out in soap operas. 

Brad Pitt (Another World)

There aren’t many bigger stars in the world than Brad Pitt. While he famously made his first mark in pop culture in Thelma & Louise, his first professional, credited acting role came on the soap Another World. The Ocean’s Eleven star played a character named Chris on two episodes in 1987. Little did anyone know just how famous he would soon be. 

Leonardo DiCaprio (Santa Barbara)

Pitt’s co-star in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio, is also one of the biggest stars in the world. Like Pitt, DiCaprio also can point to a turn on a soap opera early in his career as a launching pad. DiCaprio had a smattering of bit parts before starring in Santa Barbara, but it was five episodes on the soap that really got his career moving. 

Demi Moore (General Hospital)

In the ‘80s and ‘90s, Demi Moore was box office gold with films like St. Elmo’s Fire, A Few Good Men, and Ghost. Moore earned a then-unprecedented $12.5 million with her role in Striptease, but she got her start much more modestly as reporter Jackie Templeton in 85 episodes of General Hospital from 1982 until 1984. 

Marisa Tomei (As The World Turns)

Marisa Tomei’s career went into the stratosphere with her Academy Award-winning turn in My Cousin Vinny in 1992. She’s since been nominated for two more Oscars in her lauded career that all started with the role of Marcy Thompson, as a series regular on As The World Turns for three seasons. 

Alec Baldwin (The Doctors)

The Doctors debuted on NBC in April of 1963, on the very same day as General Hospital premiered on ABC. Unlike GH, which is still on the air, The Doctors lasted only a mere 20 years, but like GH, it helped launch a lot of careers. Alec Baldwin was one of those actors who appeared on the soap, as the character Billy Aldrich for a few years in the early 1980s, years before his big breaks would come in Beetlejuice and The Hunt For Red October. 

Kathy Bates (The Doctors)

Another actor who got her start on the oft-forgotten The Doctors is the great Kathy Bates. Bates worked hard while scratching out a living as an actor in New York City. After scoring just one bit part in the movie Taking Off in 1971, it was another 6 years before she would land a big role, this time on The Doctors.

Laurence Fishburne (One Life To Live)

Laurence Fishburne famously made waves as a teenager starring (as Larry Fishburne) in Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece Apocalypse Now. While the role made him famous, his career started years earlier as Josh Hall in One Life To Live. Fishburne was only 11 years old when he debuted on the show.

Jordana Brewster (As The World Turns)

Jordana Brewster is a star in one of the biggest film franchises in history as Mia Toretto in the Fast & Furious movies. She got her start in one of the biggest soap operas in history as well. After a quick one-off on All My Children in 1995, Brewster landed a regular role on As The World Turns later that same year. She remained on the show for 118 episodes over the next six years. 

Shemar Moore (The Young and the Restless)

For over a decade, Shemar Moore starred as Derek Morgan on the beloved Criminal Minds and then on S.W.A.T for six years. Neither was his first long-time role on television, however, as Moore got his start on eight seasons of The Young and the Restless as Malcolm Winters, a role he’s returned to a number of times, most recently in 2023. 

Tom Selleck (The Young And The Restless)

Another actor who got his start on The Young and the Restless is the legendary TV star Tom Selleck. After bouncing around in bit parts for most of the ‘70s. The Blue Bloods star found a semi-regular role on the soap in 1974. He would later own TV in the ‘80s as Thomas Magnum on one of the greatest TV shows of all time, Magnum PI.

Meg Ryan (As The World Turns)

Meg Ryan was America’s sweetheart in the 1980s and '90s. Before she starred in numerous rom-coms, from When Harry Met Sally To You’ve Got Mail, she was Steve Andropoulos’ sweetheart Betsy on As The World Turns. She would play the role for three years, before snagging a role in a little movie called Top Gun, and off she went to stardom. 

Lauryn Hill (As The World Turns)

It’s not just actors who got their start on soap operas. Singer and rapper Ms. Lauryn Hill is famous for her amazing neo-soul album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998, but seven years before that, and before The Fugees, she starred as Kira Johnson on As The World Turns.

Taye Diggs (Guiding Light)

This one is a bit of a stretch because Taye Diggs had already put together a great career on Broadway, starring in the original cast of Rent and other shows. He did, however, get his regular screen time on Guiding Light in 1997, after a couple of smaller parts on TV. 

Julianne Moore (As The World Turns)

Julianne Moore has won a slew of awards in her career. The Boogie Nights star can boast five Oscar nominations and one win, she has an Emmy, multiple Golden Globe and SAG awards, and even one Daytime Emmy, which she won for Best Actress on the soap As The World Turns in 1988.

David Hasselhoff (The Young And The Restless)

Baywatch might have been a soap opera on the beach, but it wasn’t the first time David Hasselhoff starred in one. The Hoff played Snapper Foster (yes, that’s the name of the character) for seven years in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s on The Young and the Restless, before scoring his gig on Knight Rider. While starring on Knight Rider, The Hoff also appeared on one episode of Santa Barbara.

Mark Hamill (General Hospital)

Stars Wars has often been described as a “space opera” so it only makes sense that Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, got his start on a soap opera. The future superstar started smaller, with a role as Kent Murray on General Hospital for a couple of years right before Star Wars became the biggest thing, well, ever. 

Josh Duhamel (All My Children)

Transformers star Josh Duhamel has starred in 39 movies and had roles on 18 TV shows, including Las Vegas and Jupiter Rising, and it all started with a breakout role on ABC’s All My Children in 1999. He starred on the soap opera for a few years, before moving on, but did return briefly in 2011 to reprise his role as Leo du Pres. He even won a Daytime Emmy in 2002 for his performance. 

Kelly Ripa (All My Children)

Kelly Ripa has been everyone’s favorite morning talk show host for years now and over 30 years ago, she was a dancer on Dance Party USA. Her first serious acting gig came in 1990 as Hayley Vaughan on All My Children, a role she would play for more than a decade. Not only did it jumpstart her career, but the soap played an even more important role in her life, as that’s how she met her husband, Mark Consuelos.

Mark Consuelos (All My Children)

That’s right, Mark Consuelos also began his career on All My Children, playing Mateo Santos on the show for six years. The Riverdale star was a huge hit on the show, and like Ripa, returned in 2010 to help celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary. Consuelos and Ripa married in 1996 while starring on the show together and now almost 30 years later are still working together as co-hosts on Live.

Ryan Phillippe (One Life To Live)

From I Know What You Last Summer to Cruel Intentions, Ryan Phillippe played some iconic parts in the 1990s. It was One Life To Live where he landed his first one, though, in 1992. In the ‘00s, he got more serious, with major roles in Gosford Park and Crash, but none of it might have happened with the soap opera casting him as a teenager. 

Amber Tamblyn (General Hospital)

Amber Tamblyn wasn’t even a teen when she landed her first on-screen role on General Hospital in 1995. The 127 Hours star played Emily Quatermaine for six seasons on the soap.

John Stamos (General Hospital)

Before playing Uncle Jesse on Full House, and before playing bongos for The Beach Boys, John Stamos was breaking hearts as Blackie Parrish on General Hospital for three seasons in the early ‘80s. Stamos even earned a nomination for a Daytime Emmy for the role in 1983.

Mario Van Peebles (One Life To Live)

Mario Van Peebles made his permanent mark on film with his direction of the 1991 classic New Jack City. The cult classic was huge at the time, and Van Peebles has been acting and directing in TV and film ever since, but his career really got going a decade prior to New Jack City when he appeared as Doc Gilmore in One Life To Live in 1982 and 1983. 

Hayden Panettiere (One Life To Live)

“Save the cheerleader, save the world” is a now-legendary catchphrase from the TV series Heroes and the cheerleader was, of course, the great Hayden Panettiere. Panettiere had already scored numerous credits before Heroes, including her first role as a five-year-old One Life To Live for 26 episodes in the mid-'90s. She followed that up as Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light for four seasons.

Justin Hartley (Passions)

Justin Harley was part of the cast that made more TV viewers cry than any other as a part of the brilliant ensemble on This Is Us. Hartley got his start probably making daytime TV fans emotional on the short-lived (by soap opera standards) Passions. After becoming a series regular on Smallville, he returned to daytime TV on The Young and the Restless before landing his award-winning gig on This Is Us. 

Robin Wright (Santa Barbara)

In 1987 Robin Wright became part of cinema history with her role as Buttercup in the much-beloved The Princess Bride. It took a few years of starring on the soap Santa Barbara before she would get that breakout role, but she’s been on top ever since, with iconic roles on the Netflix series House of Cards and in movies like Wonder Woman 1984, which is pretty fitting, as that was the year she started on Santa Barbara.

Lindsay Lohan (Guiding Light and Another World)

Lindsay Lohan’s first movie role was actually two roles in 1998’s The Parent Trap. She immediately endeared herself to audiences, and that love only grew with Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. She’s had an up-and-down career since, but like so many others, that career started as a kid on a soap. Two soaps, actually. First, a brief one-off on Guiding Light, with a reoccurring role on Another World for two seasons. 

Kevin Kline (Search For Tomorrow)

Search for Tomorrow is one of those soaps that despite running for more than 35 years, it’s completely forgotten about today. It was canceled in 1986, but it was around long enough for Kevin Kline to make his first on-screen appearance. The classically trained Kline returned to the stage after leaving the show, but in 1982 he found himself in a role in Sophie’s Choice alongside Meryl Streep, and he’s never looked back. 

Tommy Lee Jones (One Life To Live)

Harvard grad Tommy Lee Jones actually got his first role in the classic Love Story but it was a minor “blink and you’ll miss it” type of role. It was probably his 21 episodes on One Life To Live in the early 1970s that really jumpstarted his now-legendary career. 

Tom Berenger (One Life To Live)

Speaking of One Life to Live in the ‘70s, Platoon star Tom Berenger overlapped with Jones for one season on the long-running soap. Berenger played Tim Siegel for 66 episodes from 1975 until his character’s death just after getting married in the 1976 season. Classic soap opera plot!  

While budgets of soap operas might not be that of prime-time TV, there is undoubtedly plenty of talent on these shows, and has been for many years, as this amazing of list famous actors who started out in soap operas proves. 

One of the best Marvel movies yet, Spider-Man: No Way Home once again sees the Marvel Cinematic Universe pull off something that fans long thought was simply impossible. Not only does the blockbuster feature a selection of villains from past Spider-Man movies outside of the canon, but it also sees the return of both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their respective versions of the web-slinger. It’s terrifically exciting to see the heroes fight together with Tom Holland’s version, and it’s something that audiences will never forget – and it also makes us wonder what else might be possible thanks to the magic of the multiverse.

Many different Marvel movies were produced and released in the decades before the existence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while we don’t know what the future has in store for the franchise, it would certainly be amazing if the stories continued to explore the vastness of infinity and bring back gone-but-not-forgotten incarnations of special Marvel characters. There are eight heroes in particular who stand out in my mind, and I’ve provided reasoning to include all of them below.

Wesley Snipes As Blade

To be honest, this present time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may not be the best time to bring back the Wesley Snipes incarnation of Blade. The franchise is right on the verge of debuting a brand new version of the Daywalker played by two-time Academy Award-winner Mahershala Ali, and Marvel is going to want audiences to be identifying him as the character instead of thinking about the version from the Blade trilogy. That being said, one cannot quickly dismiss the fact that the original Blade movie was a huge moment in the history of comic book movies, and having Snipes appear as the vampire slayer from an alternate universe would be a great way to honor that legacy.

Ben Affleck As Daredevil

If I’m being perfectly honest, the idea of Ben Affleck returning to the role of Daredevil is interesting now more than ever given the actor/director’s decision to walk away from the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The Daredevil movie from 2003 definitely wasn’t a career highlight for him (though he does admittedly have some positive takeaways), but one of the great things about the whole insanity of the multiverse is the potential for repaired legacies. If Affleck were to make a quick cameo as Matt Murdock in an upcoming film and just act like a total badass for five minutes, audiences would forget the mediocre past and become infatuated with the awesome present.

Nicolas Cage As Ghost Rider

It’s not exactly a secret that Nicolas Cage loves comic books (and still thinks he'd be perfect for some comic book villains). Unfortunately, his history when it comes to making Marvel movies is not spectacular. In 2007 and 2011 he got two opportunities to play Johnny Blaze a.k.a. Ghost Rider, but sadly neither Ghost Rider nor Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance are what one would call “watchable.” Of course, neither of those films were developed by Marvel Studios, and their track record suggests that they could provide the character with some redemption. We’ve yet to see the motorcycle-riding hell-raiser in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it would be an exciting surprise to see Cage get a third shot at getting it right.

David Hasselhoff As Nick Fury

When the Marvel Cinematic Universe was first casting Nick Fury, Samuel L. Jackson made all the sense in the world. The iteration of the character from Marvel’s Ultimate line of comics was specifically based on him, so it was a way of both being faithful to the comics and enlisting a talented performer. As originally drawn, however, Fury was a curly-haired white guy, and said version was portrayed by David Hasselhoff in the 1998 TV movie Nick Fury: Agent Of Shield. Hasselhoff already has MCU connections, having cameoed in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and it would be great to see him strap on an eyepatch and do at least one scene with Jackson in an upcoming blockbuster.

Patrick Stewart As Professor X

In the making of this list, I made a conscious decision to limit the presence of the X-Men franchise. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to be introducing mutants in their own way in the coming years, and while we already know that Ryan Reynolds is eventually going to be back as Deadpool, the franchise should have freedom to bring together a fresh ensemble without being restricted by the past. If there is any single character from the X-Men movies who should appear, though, my vote goes to Patrick Stewart’s Professor X. The actor may have said that he wants Logan to be his final turn as the brilliant telepath, but the reality is that he was born to play the leader of the X-Men, and it would be amazing to have that fact be recognized as canon in the MCU.

Lea Thompson As Beverly Switzler

With very little effort, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done a nice job helping to repair the big screen reputation of Howard The Duck. The character’s solo film from 1986 remains more notorious than beloved, but the iteration played by Seth Green has provided audiences with some chuckles while watching the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and Avengers: Endgame. So, why not provide Beverly Switzler some redemption as well – specifically the version played by Lea Thompson?  Traveling from across the multiverse, she could share scenes with the MCU’s Howard, and perhaps inform audiences about what happened with her band, Cherry Bomb.

Reb Brown As Captain America

Admittedly, the last thing that Sam Wilson needs at this present moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is another Captain America to enter the picture, but the idea of having an appearance from Reb Brown as Steve Rogers from across the multiverse is just too great an idea to ignore. In 1979, Brown starred as the legendary star-spangled hero in both Captain America and Captain America II: Death Too Soon, and it would be amazing to see him pick up the shield again. It would be a brilliant way to honor the long legacy of live-action Marvel Comics adaptations, the same being true for…

Peter Hooten As Dr. Stephen Strange

If we’re talking about actors from the earliest Marvel movies, we have to include Peter Hooten – if not especially because his character is more naturally linked to the multiverse than any other mentioned above. In 1978, Hooten became the first actor to ever portray Dr. Stephen Strange, playing the Master of the Mystic Arts in the CBS TV movie Doctor Strange. That was nearly 50 years ago now, and it would be remarkable to see him return to the role.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed that at least one of these comebacks happens in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the coming years. David Hasselhoff has been an American staple since the days of the 1980s television classic Knight Rider, but now the actor is set to star in a German series to play a pretty perfect role. He is set to come back to television as a series regular to play himself.

According to Deadline, David Hasselhoff will play a fictional version of himself in a German television series titled Ze Network. The series is part of a first-look deal between CBS Studios and the German-based production company Syrreal Entertainment. The Hasselhoff-centric series was created by Syrreal CEO Christian Alvart, who will also direct the series.

Like many projects with David Hasselhoff at the center, the series has a quirky premise with hints of conspiracy. The series sees Hasselhoff becoming the lead actor in a German stage show. The show takes a turn as he becomes involved in a Cold War conspiracy centered around former assassins.

Ze Network is set to premiere on German channel RTL’s streaming platform TV Now. David Hasselhoff will be joined by Henry Hübchen, who also plays himself in the series. No other casting news or premiere date has been announced.

David Hasselhoff will serve as executive producer on Ze Network with Alvart Sigi Kamml and Timm Oberwelland acting as series producers. CBS currently holds the rights to the series, including the potential for remakes. Those rights include ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group handling all sales outside of German-speaking territories.

As part of the announcement, David Hasselhoff spoke about the German series being a full-circle moment for him and his excitement at working with RTL again:

As David Hasselhoff alluded to, his return to RTL is a terrific way for him to make his return to television. The vagueness in his statement is pure Hasselhoff. It makes the series sound more outrageous than the public could even imagine. There’s no telling what kind of hijinks are in store once the series premieres.

To put things in perspective, David Hasselhoff’s German fanbase has stayed loyal to him since his Knight Rider days. That love affair led to a successful music career, culminating in a big moment at the Berlin Wall. He has continued to be prosperous in Germany even during the downtimes in his post-Baywatch career. While some territories may have turned the actor into a joke, Germany still treats him like a superstar.

But this isn’t the first time David Hasselhoff has played David Hasselhoff. He starred as a fictional version of himself in the 2014 British sitcom Hoff the Record. Plus, his recent guest appearance on CBS' Young Sheldon. If the Hoff’s television appearances are anything to go by, then, this series is about to be a wild ride.

But nothing from his career so far has been quite like the Grammy-nominated entertainer's upcoming travel TV show, quaintly titled Cup of Joe. Cup of Joe is set to be one of the many shows debuting on the short-form streaming service Quibi, which released the star-studded first trailer for Joe Jonas' new show. Check it out below!

As he puts it in the trailer, Joe Jonas is someone who has been all over the world as part of album tours and the like, and that kind of traveling doesn't allow for very much sight-seeing or getting to experience the joys that locals do. Luckily, that's where Quibi comes in, giving Jonas the fast-paced series Cup of Joe to spend some bonding time with...David flippin' Hasselhoff? Such is life for a Jonas brother, I guess.

Travel shows aren't exactly a TV novelty anymore, as lots of series based around food, thrill rides, and even motorcycles have been taking over the small screen for years. However, how many TV show hosts can say they went to Austin and had Matthew McConaughey show them around on camera? Stop making me jealous, Joe Jonas!

As seen in the trailer, Joe Jonas is going to seven different cities to enjoy some food, some drinks, and some lovely attractions with other A-listers. He's hitting up New York City with SNL and 30 Rock vet Tina Fey, which apparently leads to Jonas taking a leap into the world of stand-up comedy open mics. Elsewhere in the U.S., he will team up with Jack Black to rock out across Los Angeles. Meanwhile, in London, Joe Jonas will enjoy a cup of tea (or whatever) with The Masked Singer judge Nicole Scherzinger.

The very first Cup of Joe episode features Joe Jonas heading to his beloved city of Amsterdam with wife and mother-to-be Sophie Turner by his side. Episode 2 will feature Jonas heading to Berlin to hang out with Scottish singer-songwriter Louis Capaldi and Baywatch vet David Hasselhoff. The third episode sets Joe alongside Nick and Kevin Jonas on a bike race and a cook-off in Barcelona, Spain. While I'm sure hanging with the bros and the Hoff was cool, he probably enjoyed Amsterdam with his honey the most.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been on a serious hot streak during Phase Three, as every single installment since Captain America: Civil War has been a critical and box office success. While this will likely continue with both Captain Marvel and Avengers 4, there are major changes happening behind the scenes. Chief among them is the recent firing of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, who had shaped the little known team into fan favorite members of the greater shared universe. It's currently unclear what is going to happen with the Guardians property as a whole, but yet another member of the family has now spoken out in support of Gunn: David Hasselhoff. Hasselhoff Tweeted out some love for James Gunn on his birthday, saying:

While not explicitly referencing James Gunn's firing, and the decade old Tweets that landed him there, David Hasselhoff seems to have made his feelings clear. He made a point to say he stood by the Guardians of the Galaxy director, a sentiment that seem to be largely supported by the general fandom and cast of the franchise.

David Hasselhoff's recent Tweet will likely help fan the flames of the great James Gunn debate, especially as the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise remains a mystery. Since Marvel and Disney parted ways with Gunn over his incendiary tweets from years ago, there was an intense reaction from the fandom. While Gunn's missteps are clear, many believe that his firing was premature, and that the Guardians franchise simply couldn't function without his vision, direction, and script. They've even started various petitions, from hiring Gunn back, to campaigning for Thor: Ragnarok director to helm the Guardians threequel.

It's currently unclear exactly what will happen regarding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. While the cast wrote a letter in support of James Gunn, they're likely bound to their contractual obligation to return for the pending threequel. David Bautista in particular seems unwilling to play Drax again unless Gunn's script for the film is used. But since every aspect of the franchise comes from Gunn's mind, it's unclear exactly how it could continue without him being the camera.

Ultimately, Marvel is keepings its plans after Avengers 4 under wraps for the time being, so Guardians of the Galaxy's fate is one of the many mysterious reolving around the shared universe after Phase Three.

Hollywood brought back Baywatch in hopes of revitalizing the franchise for a new generation, and while few would call the film a raging success, it appears to have somewhat accomplished its goal. The effort inspired one organization to remaster the classic series as well as begin talks for a potential series reboot. Regardless of what happens there, David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson are coming back to televisions worldwide, and it's all thanks to FremantleMedia.

Fremantle's remaster of Baywatch was quite extensive, and involves more than just updating the series 242 episodes from a 4:3 to 16:9 ratio. Each episode will now be in high definition, and old songs from the show have been switched out with a more contemporary soundtrack to bring the program up to a more modern era. In total 300 songs were replaced, although purist fans will be happy to know the show's iconic theme song was untouched. The songs selected were done so with the help of the show's original composer Corey Lerios, so the assumption is the updated soundtrack won't deviate too far from the feel of the original series.

The remaster effort was also overseen by the series' original producers Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, and Doug Schwartz, who told Deadline the end result is "phenomenal," and the visual upgrade really shows how colorful Baywatch was. The producers believe these updates will help Baywatch gain fans from younger generations, as well as continue to grow its international audience. Apparently, Baywatch tends to do well internationally, especially in countries like Germany, Italy, and France. FremantleMedia plans to approach the international market as well as some streaming services in hopes of selling its remastered episodes.

Of course, all this talk about Baywatch remasters eventually leads to the discussion of a television-based reboot, which the original producers are not ruling out. FremantleMedia International COO Bob McCourt said that a television reboot was "definitely discussed" around the time the film was being made, but the film's mixed reviews put that conversation on the back burner. Having said that, McCourt said that if the remastered version of the series sells extremely well and pulls in a new audience like the producers are hoping, the odds of a television reboot are much better. Unfortunately, McCourt didn't offer any details on past discussions involving a Baywatch reboot, and if past stars such as David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, or Jason Momoa were involved in any way.

As of writing, it is unknown how Americans will get to watch these remastered episodes of Baywatch. With the exception of a few small projects, Michael Fassbender is primarily known for his work in the world of drama - regularly serving up some of the most emotional and gripping performances of any given year. As a collective audience we've become accustomed to taking him very seriously - but that should only enhance his upcoming venture into the world of comedy. The two time-Oscar nominated actor is now set to star in David Sandberg's Kung Fury - a feature-length sequel to the short film that has been blowing the internet's mind since 2015.

News of the casting comes from Deadline, which adds that the movie will serve as a sequel to the original YouTube hit - but doesn't mention what role Michael Fassbender will be playing in the film. Heavily inspired by the shlocky, ridiculous action films of the 1980s, Kung Fury is set in an alternate version of 1985 where a hero named Kung Fury keeps the city of Miami safe from hyper-violent forces. He brings together heroes from across time to assemble the Thundercops in an attempt to take down the evil Kung Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler - but the group falls apart when one of their own dies. It is after this tragedy that a new villain emerges with plans to attain an ultimate weapon, leaving Kung Fury no choice but to go on another time-hopping adventure in order to save the day.

David Sandberg - not to be confused with Lights Out/Annabelle: Creation/Shazam! director David F. Sandberg - wrote, directed, produced and starred in Kung Fury three years ago, with Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone co-starring as Adolf Hitler. It has since developed a cult following, and has had a run on Netflix in addition to accruing more than 29 million views on YouTube. KatzSmith Productions, which just had a huge hit last year in Andres Muschietti's IT, is backing the project, and production is expected to start up this summer. The trade report doesn't suggest the project has secured distribution yet, but that will just be news to keep an eye out for.

Following a busy 2017 that included Terrence Malick's Song To Song, Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant, and Tomas Alfredson's The Snowman, Michael Fassbender's filmography in 2018 is a bit lighter. The only time we will be seeing him up on the big screen in the calendar year will be in Simon Kinberg's X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which is hitting theaters in November. David Hasselhoff has become a master of self-awareness in recent years. Willing to dissect his own resume without fear, his meta approach to his own work came to a head with his newly released comedy Killing Hasselhoff. Oddly enough, however, the film features a bizarrely prophetic running gag about The Hoff wanting to make a "superhero musical" -- which is what he eventually goes on to do in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's fan-favorite "Inferno" video. I recently asked the Knight Rider star about that coincidence while discussing Killing Hasselhoff, and he explained that it was pure serendipity. The Hoff elaborated,

What's bizarre about this coincidence is the fact that Killing Hasselhoff frames the idea of a "superhero musical" as something that couldn't possibly happen. The Hoff's agent Barry (played by Jon Lovitz in the film) consistently shrugs off the idea as a pipe dream. By his admission, Hasselhoff didn't even recognize the coincidence until fans saw Killing Hasselhoff and "Inferno" side-by-side. Against all the odds, he pulled off something that his fictionalized self couldn't. Unless Killing Hasselhoff is a stealth prequel to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (it isn't), that's a pretty fascinating coincidence.

Killing Hasselhoff centers on a struggling nightclub owner (Ken Jeong) who finds himself in dire financial straights. Learning that he needs to make a quick buck to keep his life together, he realizes that the only way to make the money he needs is to secretly murder David Hasselhoff (who obviously plays himself) to win a celebrity death pool and collect the winnings. The film also stars standup comedian Jim Jeffries and Flight of the Conchords' Rhys Darby.

Reboots are easy to come by these days, and while many re-imaginings of classic properties try to stick close to their source material, others go for a full reinvention. In that regard, Baywatch could be considered the latter, as the raunchy, Dwayne Johnson-fronted update of the iconic 1990s series took a totally NSFW approach to the property. While Baywatch icon David Hasselhoff doesn't think it recaptured the spirit of the original series, he recently told CinemaBlend (ahead of the upcoming release of Killing Hasselhoff) that he appreciates the reboot's attempt to try something new, saying:

Viewed through that lens, one could make the argument that the Baywatch reboot is a product of its time. The film aims more for the type of hard-R raunchy comedy that movies like Dirty Grandpa and Neighbors have put on full display, rather than attempt to go back to the well and make something in the spirit of the series. In the eyes of the Knight Rider star, this doesn't necessarily make Baywatch bad or good; it's just different from the show that he was on in the 1990s. Even if the film didn't become a smash with American audiences, it's doing great business overseas, which means fans seem to appreciate this new take on the material.

The Hoff's response to this question certainly seems to fall in line with opinions offered up by other Baywatch veterans. In fact, Pamela Anderson recently spoke out about the Baywatch film and admitted that she doesn't think any of the sex, nudity or language would've worked during her tenure in that universe. With two decades and a generation of pop culture touchstones separating these iterations of Baywatch, the new has arguably become pretty unrecognizable when compared to the old.

In fairness to Baywatch, this approach to rebooting a classic series is something that we have seen before. Phil Lord and Chris Miller attempted something similar with the 21 Jump Street franchise, and while that particular series has arguably met with a more positive critical reception than Baywatch, it seems to show a trend that many reboots are aiming for these days. They borrow heavily with regards to setting or premise, but the overall tones and styles change as they evolve for modern audiences.

You can catch David Hasselhoff as himself when Killing Hasselhoff premieres on DVD and VOD on August 29. As for Baywatch, the reboot of the classic series is now available on Digital HD, and the DVD and Blu-ray editions of the film will hit shelves on August 29.

Could David Hasselhoff make a big screen return as Michael Knight, the crime fighting hero behind the wheel of the NBC action series Knight Rider? While it doesn't sound like there are any firm plans for a big screen Knight Rider film quite yet, Hasselhoff confirmed to CinemaBlend that not only does he want to return as his iconic character, he wants to do so in a storyline he likens to 20th Century Fox's recent R-rated comic book adaptation Logan.

The biggest hurdle to overcome with a Knight Rider movie like that is landing the right tone. A huge part of the charm of the original series stems from the silliness of the basic plot. David Hasselhoff might actually be onto something in approaching Robert Rodriguez. The Austin, Texas based filmmaker tends to deliver R-rated action with a level of tongue in cheek humor that would be exactly what a Knight Rider movie needs. What's more, Rodriguez is famously budget conscious and would be a major factor in revving up KITT for the big screen. The budget for Logan was nearly $100 million and Knight Rider doesn't exactly have the same franchise track record at the box office. Still, seeing an aging Michael Knight ride KITT through a Mad Max style post-apocalypse would make for one fun summer blockbuster.

As cool as a Logan-esque big screen Knight Rider finale might sound, the odds aren't exactly in favor of such a project. It was revealed last year that plans are underway for a Machinima webseries reboot of the franchise with four-time The Fast and the Furious helmer Justin Lin producing. David Hasselhoff recently teased that he's involved in this new take, so any plans for a Knight Rider movie are likely going to have to take a back seat.

While it's certainly true that Robert Rodriguez is a director who likes to keep multiple projects in development at once, he himself has not made any indication that he has plans (or even the desire) to take on a Knight Rider movie. The selfie that David Hasselhoff refers to is likely this one, which appeared on Rodriguez's Twitter feed last summer, several months before the new webseries was announced.

Premiering on NBC in 1982, the original Knight Rider ran for four seasons and 90 episodes. The show followed David Hasselhoff's Michael Knight, a skilled crimefighter operating alongside an advanced A.I. vehicle, the Knight Industries Two Thousand (or KITT, for short). Following the end of the original Knight Rider series in 1986, David Hasselhoff returned for a 1991 telefilm called Knight Rider 2000. The project failed to develop into anything more substantive, however, and Hasselhoff wound up not returning for several subsequent attempts to reboot the franchise.

David Hasselhoff did finally reprise the Michael Knight character in 2008 for what was, to date, the most recent iteration of the Knight Rider franchise. Hasselhoff makes a cameo at the end of the NBC series' pilot telefilm, revealing that the show's lead (Justin Bruening as Mike Knight) is the son of his original character.

Music is a huge part of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, which helps set it apart from the rest of the MCU. The music is an important part of major scenes and most of it comes from the '70s and '80s. For Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, James Gunn wrote an original number, "Inferno," which was performed by none other than David Hasselhoff. Now Gunn and the cast have assembled in a music video for the song and it should be the greatest thing you see today. Enjoy.

Co-written by James Gunn and score composer Tyler Bates, the "Inferno" music video will be available as a special feature on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Blu-ray. However, Marvel has released it for the public early, because you can't keep this beast chained. Performed by David Hasselhoff, the video also features appearances from Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, and even James Gunn (on the drums), all decked out in '70s appropriate attire. The video is super fun and just the right amount of cheesy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was one of the biggest hits of the summer, earning over $388 million at the box office and getting positive reviews from critics. The sequel currently stands as the third highest grossing movie of 2017, right behind Wonder Woman and Beauty and the Beast. The third Guardians movie is already in development and it will help set the stage for the future of the MCU and other cosmic stories. Before that though, the Guardians will be appearing in next year's Avengers: Infinity War, teaming up with the Avengers to save the universe from Thanos.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits Digital on August 8, and then the 4K UHD and Blu-ray editions hit shelves on August 22. David Hasselhoff has experienced one of the most bizarre resurgences in recent memory. Between his role in the fourth Sharknado film, his cameo in Baywatch, and (most importantly) he brief role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the former 1980s superstar has been introduced to an entirely new generation of fans. With that in mind, when asked whether or not he would return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hasselhoff played coy. But he did eventually go on to say that he is involved in the upcoming reboot of Knight Rider. The actor said:

So we can neither confirm or deny if David Hasselhoff will return to Marvel's blockbuster franchise, but his involvement in the Knight Rider reboot sounds like a fantastic consolation prize. Catapulting the actor to stardom back in the 1980s, Knight Rider centered on a tech genius named Michael Knight who used an artificially intelligent and virtually indestructible car named KITT to fight crime. It is one of those quintessentially 1980s premises, and the series remains a cultural touchstone to this very day, becoming the recipient of homages and parodies in everything from Family Guy to Adult Swim's Robot Chicken.

The Knight Rider reboot has had longtime fans of the property very excited for the last year. Not much is currently known about the project, other than the fact that it will take the form of a digital series collaboration between Machinima and the Fast and Furious franchise's Justin Lin. The Hoff didn't specify if he will be involved in front of the camera, or behind the scenes, but honestly, we don't care. All we know for sure is this: with Hasselhoff involved in the project; we can at least confirm that it will likely be dripping with nostalgia in every single frame.

The Hoff's comments to Yahoo! Movies about his role in the Knight Rider reboot will go a long way towards instilling confidence in the project. The franchise received a similar reboot on network television almost a decade ago and only ran for roughly 18 episodes before receiving the ax. Hasselhoff only appeared in a single episode, and thus the series never really achieved its full potential.

We've been hearing about a movie following Ken Jeong attempting to murder David Hasselhoff for a while. As outlandish as that premise may seem, the first trailer for Killing Hasselhoff is now here and it is chock full of action, including drinking and David Hasselhoff running in slow motion. Because of course David Hasselhoff is going to run in slow motion. Check it out.

If you aren't up on the general premise of Killing Hasselhoff, the movie actually stars Ken Jeong as a nightclub owner who begins losing everything important to him. Desperate to pay off his debts, Jeong's character will realize his salvation may come in the form of a death pool. If David Hasselhoff dies, he'll win half a million dollars. So the only way to get out of debt may be to--you guessed it--kill David Hasselhoff.

Murdering someone to win a death pool is no mean feat, and the trailer features plenty of shenanigans, including the nightclub owner surveilling his target and accidentally poisoning people he didn't intend to kill. David Hasselhoff runs around in his underwear with a sword at one point, and runs in slow motion while attempting to save someone drowning at another. I have no idea if this will pan out into a cohesive and enjoyable movie, but points for the original premise.

Ken Jeong is probably currently nursing his wounds after Dr. Ken was cancelled by ABC. Killing Hasselhoff is his next project, and Universal Pictures says the movie will be out later this year in the U.K. in a limited release before hitting DVD almost immediately, which isn't super reassuring. (You can pre-order the DVD release, which is out on August 29, here.) David Hasselhoff could use a win, too, after Baywatch underperformed domestically this summer, although it should be noted it has its fans overseas.

With a DVD and Digital only release, it's clear Universal isn't putting a lot of money behind Killing Hasselhoff, but even if you never check out the movie, we hope the trailer is worth a watch, if only for David Hasselhoff harkening back to his Baywatch days with that slow-mo scene. That, and Ken Jeong fiddling repeatedly with a seatbelt, which is a legitimately funny gag. Be sure to check out what else is headed to Blu-ray soon.

As far as blockbuster seasons go, 2017 is going to be a hard one to beat. It kicked off earlier this summer with the release of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and that film's absurd brand of humor very much defined the tone of the year. Of the movie's many hilarious moments, David Hasselhoff's unexpected cameo continues to stand out as one of the best, and now it looks like the movie's upcoming home release will continue to embrace The Hoff by including him in a music video for the special features section. Take a look at the throwback poster for the video below, and prepare yourselves for its sheer awesomeness.

It's no secret that music plays a huge role in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and James Gunn has doubled down on that idea by co-writing an original (and catchy as hell) single with composer Tyler Bates and directing a music video for Vol. 2's home release. Titled "Inferno," the song will be performed by Hasselhoff and "The Sneepers" -- a band named after a fictional race of aliens from deep within Marvel lore. There's a stylish sensibility to that poster that's rooted firmly within the disco genre, and we can only hope that the video itself will be as impressive as that piece of promotional artwork.

Of course, now that David Hasselhoff has entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a meta piece of fan service, our minds have started to race with ideas for how these Easter eggs can continue going into the future. There are plenty of opportunities for delightful comedy involving the Baywatch legend, but one of the best would be for a cameo from the Hasselhoff Nick Fury alongside Samuel L. Jackson's MCU version of the iconic hero.

That's the beauty of David Hasselhoff's new role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unlike someone like Sylvester Stallone (who is firmly rooted in the logic of the MCU as Stakar Ogord), The Hoff is pure, fourth wall-breaking goodness right now. He can do things that other actors in this universe can't, and we're excited to see what happens when the "Inferno" video finally debuts.

James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be available on Digital HD on August 8, and the DVD, Blu-ray and 4K versions of the film will hit shelves on August 22. Lots of people were surprised by just how good Guardians of the Galaxy was when it first hit theaters, but I don't think anyone was expecting it to have the most slammin' soundtrack of the year. "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" lives up to its name, having topped the charts and gone platinum, so people have high expectations for its follow-up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The album, "Awesome Mix Vol. 2", is already available for purchase and streaming, and spoiler alert: it's FIRE. Not only does it include more songs from the seventies and eighties, but its got an original song featuring David Hasselhoff. Yes, that David Hasselhoff.

So, that was amazing. The song, "Guardians Inferno," is an original song composed just for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It was co-written by James Gunn himself and composed by Tyle Bates. On the track, it's listed that the song is performed by The Sneepers, but that's a fictional band; a Sneeper is actually the name of an obscure race of Marvel aliens. David Hasselhoff, on the other hand, is a totally real person and he provides his vocals for small rap.

Yep, David Hasselhoff raps in a song for a superhero movie set in outer space. And it's great! The track is delightfully campy and un-ironic, with a beat that gets stuck in your head. The song itself is about Star-Lord, and makes mentions to both Rocket Raccoon and Baby Groot. Kudos go to James Gunn, who not only rhymed "Procyon lotor" (the scientific name for a raccoon) with "motor," but he also wrote this absolute gem of a line.

People may know David Hasselhoff his acting roles (Baywatch) or for cheeseburgers, but he did have a music career for a time. He wasn't particularly big in the states, but he really took off in Germany. He also sang a pretty awesome song for the short film Kung Fury called "True Survivor," which is also very heavily influenced by the eighties. If you need to transport listeners to the eighties in a campy song, The Hoff is your guy. Hasselhoff was asked to sing "Guardians Inferno" because he was one of Star-Lord's childhood heroes.

If you've got a sharp ear, you may have noticed that "Guardians Inferno" sounds pretty familiar. That's because the song is heavily inspired by Meco's disco version of the Star Wars theme, and "Guardians Inferno" is meant to be the same thing for Guardians. Here's the music video for Meco's song, which you can definitely hear in "Guardians Inferno."

You can listen to "Awesome Mix Vol. 2" whenever you'd like, but if you want to wait for the movie then hold on just a bit longer! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to premiere on May 5, 2017.

Yesterday we got the official track listing for the Awesome Mix Vol. 2 soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and among the classic pop hits, one odd name stood out, David Hasselhoff. How exactly did the man behind Baywatch become part of Guardians of the Galaxy? The actor and German pop icon sings an original song on the soundtrack that was actually written by director James Gunn. According to The Hoff, Gunn was a big Knight Rider fan back in the day and thus was able to sweet talk Hasselhoff into becoming part of the new movie. Hasselhoff says...

The name of the song is "Guardians Inferno" according to the tracklist that was released yesterday. At this point, that, and the fact that David Hasselhoff sings it, are the only things we know. It's not clear if the song is even in the movie. It could be the sort of music that gets played over the film's closing credits.

David Hasselhoff is actually a great choice for a singer though. Since Peter Quill left earth in the 1980s as a boy he's in the prime demographic to have been a big David Hasselhoff fans, just as James Gunn apparently was. As corny as Knight Rider was in retrospect, if you were a kid at the time it was just about the coolest thing you could imagine, so what could be cooler than having the star sing your theme song?

In the interview with Marvel prior to the world premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, David Hasselhoff also teases some involvement with the film so it's possible that he might actually end up on screen as well as in the music, though it's hard to imagine how the story would pull that off. We are expecting to see Hasselhoff on screen in another project related to his previous TV work, the big screen adaptation of Baywatch.

We're looking forward to hearing "Guardians Inferno" in the new film as it truly sounds like it may be the most 80s thing to ever happen since the actual 80s. The retro style in a science fiction film is one of the things that made the original Guardians of the Galaxy so much fun, and based on early reviews, the sequel will have even more of what we love. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for release on May 5.

A lot of our TV conversations these days revolve around shows with zombies and dragons and blind superheroes guiding the plots, but let's not forget that there was a time not all that long ago when the biggest TV show in the world was about a bunch of super-attractive lifeguards who sporadically ran in slow motion. Baywatch got a lot of attention over its eleven-season run, but if star David Hasselhoff had originally gotten his way, Pamela Anderson wouldn't have been one of the lifeguards getting that attention. Why? He wasn't a big fan of her Playboy appeal. Here's what show producer Douglas Schwartz said about it.

I mean, if we're giving credit where credit is due, David Hasselhoff was indeed justified in worrying about Pamela Anderson being added to the cast. Anderson's boobs were something of a national phenomenon in the 1990s, as her Playboy appearances and her breast enlargement surgeries were instant headline fodder. (Her 1996 feature Barb Wire, however, was not such a popular topic.) So it's almost hard to imagine what Baywatch could have added that wouldn't have been upstaged by Anderson's chest, unless it was Jenny McCarthy's chest or something.

It apparently wasn't solely about jiggling egos, though, as Schwartz told THR that Hasselhoff also said he didn't want a Playboy playmate cast because "children watch this show." I don't know that kids were really flipping between Captain Kangaroo and Baywatch all that often, and if he was talking about teenagers, then...well, let's go out on a limb and assume that Pamela Anderson didn't deter adolescent boys from tuning in. So the next time you hear anybody say, "Won't someone please think of the children?" you can tell them that The Hoff did it, and that it was a dopey idea.

Baywatch is going to take over the minds of an entirely different generation next year when the big screen remake hits theaters. With Dwayne Johnson front and center, the movie stands to make a ton of money, and the creative team knows that honoring older audiences with cameos is the best way to go. Because yes, the newer cast members will be complemented by returns from David Hasselhoff himself, as well as Pamela Anderson, who was actually the last person to pose nude for Playboy earlier this year before the magazine's change in approach. Interestingly, Anderson wasn't so fond of the remake idea initially, but she came around later. Not an exact mirror of Hasselhoff's wariness about adding the actress to the show, but close enough.

Baywatch was an action drama series that spent more than a decade following the exploits of a group of young, gorgeous, and athletic lifeguards who liked to run slow-mo through the surf on beaches. The women made one-piece bathing suits look skimpy, the men were hunky, and the entire cast gave unrealistic expectations of what beach lifeguards should look like. It was pretty awesome.

Baywatch ran for eleven seasons, off and on from 1989 - 2001. The first nine were set in Los Angeles, and the last two moved the show and key members of the cast to Hawaii for Baywatch Hawaii. The year 2003 featured a reunion special called Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding. Now, a Baywatch movie is in the works with The Rock and Zac Efron for 2017, so the time is right to look back at the cast of the original series and see what they've been up to.

Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson spent five seasons on Baywatch as blonde bombshell C.J. Parker, who didn't let the attentions of many of the men on the beach get in the way of her dedication to the job. Anderson is probably best remembered - aside from that pesky sex tape - as one of the characters who spent a lot of time slow-mo running through the surf. Shortly after returning to C.J. for Hawaiian Wedding, Anderson lent her voice talents to the character of Erotica Jones on Stan Lee's animated series Stripperella, then starred in the Fox sitcom Stacked for both of its two seasons. She had a recurring role on Canadian series Package Deal in 2013 before taking dramatic turns for the short film Connected in 2015 and the Canadian movie The People Garden in 2016. She's set to appear in some capacity in 2017's Baywatch.

David Hasselhoff

David Hasselhoff - perhaps better known these days as The Hoff - was the longest-running cast member of Baywatch. He was a regular in 10 of the 11 seasons and appeared in 221 episodes as Mitch Buchannon. Mitch was a beach hunk/father figure who moved up the lifeguard ranks over the years. Hasselhoff left Baywatch as a regular after the first year of the updated Baywatch Hawaii, although he returned to star in Hawaiian Wedding in 2003. In the years since, he's played fictionalized versions of himself in projects ranging from The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie to Newsreaders to the episodic mockumentary Hoff the Record. He tackled the role of Gilbert Grayson Shepard in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! and is set to reprise the role in the upcoming Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens on Syfy. Hasselhoff will appear in the 2017 Baywatch movie.

Jeremy Jackson

Jeremy Jackson played Mitch's son Hobie Buchannon. Hobie stayed with his dad despite his parents' divorce. The character was portrayed by another young actor in Season 1. Jackson came in for Season 2 and stuck around all the way through to Season 9. Jackson returned for Hawaiian Wedding, but set his sights on non-Baywatch projects thereafter. He turned up in the bizarre role of Xavier in the even more bizarre boy band horror thriller Ring of Darkness in 2004, then mostly had minor roles until he landed the recurring part of Kevin in OutTV's DTLA in 2012. Unfortunately, Jackson might be best known for the drug addiction he developed during his time on Baywatch. He'll soon reunite with members of the Baywatch team for The B Team, which will be an action comedy reality movie about CIA spies who went undercover on a popular TV show.

Gregory Alan Williams

Gregory Alan Williams played police officer Garner Ellerbee, who patrolled the beach and befriended the lifeguards despite hating the water. He showed up in Season 1 and popped in and out until Season 8. After leaving Baywatch, he joined CBS police drama The District for a few seasons from 2001 - 2003. He spent the next several years making the rounds on the guest star circuit, notably appearing in Monk, The Game, and Law & Order: SVU. He won the recurring role of Coach Pat Purnell on USA's Necessary Roughness from 2011 - 2013, and he's started on ABC's drama Secrets and Lies in 2015. In 2016, he played Chief Besser in the CW event series Containment.

Alexandra Paul

Alexandra Paul played Stephanie Holden from Seasons 3 - 7 of Baywatch. Although Stephanie had a troubled past, she formed a very serious relationship with Mitch. The character died in Season 7 due to a lightning strike. Paul appeared in Hawaiian Wedding as Stephanie's doppelganger Allison Ford. Shortly after leaving Baywatch, Alexandra Paul took on the recurring role of Terry O'Brien in Melrose Place. She's since starred in no less than thirteen TV movies that covered just about every genre, ranging from A Lover's Revenge in 2005 to Firequake in 2014. She wrote and will star in The B Team alongside other Baywatch alum, and she too will turn up in Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens.

David Chokachi

David Chokachi played aspiring Olympic swimmer Cody Madison. Cody's Olympic dreams were unfortunately ruined by an irregular heartbeat. His heart problem didn't stop him from sweeping plenty of ladies off their feet on the beach during Seasons 6 - 9. After Baywatch, Chokachi went on to star in TNT's Witchblade, which lasted for two seasons following a separate pilot in 2000. He was back at the beach for The N's Beyond the Break as surf instructor Justin Healy from 2006 - 2009. He's spent most of his time on the TV guest star circuit since the end of Beyond the Break, although he did star in Lifetime original movie Cyber Case. He'll join others of the old Baywatch crew for The B Team.

Yasmine Bleeth

Yasmine Bleeth played Caroline Holden, who was the younger sister of Alexandra Paul's Stephanie Holden. She was frequently the very stubborn subject of relationship troubles. Bleeth first showed up as a recurring character in Season 4 before being promoted to regular for Seasons 5 - 7. She recurred once more in Season 8. After leaving Baywatch, she joined CBS' police drama Nash Bridges. She left Nash Bridges to star in Aaron Spelling's Titans, which lasted for only one season from 2000 - 2001. Bleeth hasn't done much since reprising her role as Caroline for Hawaiian Wedding, although she's has been attached to upcoming movie Beautiful Evil.

David Charvet

David Charvet played lifeguard Matt Brody from Seasons 3 - 6. Matt lost his job at one point when he became victim of a false sexual harassment lawsuit. He returned to the job when the lawsuit fell apart, but he ended up leaving for France rather than deal with some of his relationship woes on the beach. David Charvet moved from Baywatch to spend three years on Melrose Place. He retired from major roles to focus on music following Melrose Place. He showed up in the 2010 TV movie The Perfect Teacher and the 2013 adventure horror film Prisoners of the Sun.

Gena Lee Nolin

Gena Lee Nolin played bad girl Neely Capshaw in Seasons 6 - 8. Neely reformed when she became a lifeguard. Despite a few slips back into her manipulative ways, she eventually married (and then re-married) Mitch. Gena Lee Nolin won the starring role of Sheena on the action adventure fantasy series Sheena after leaving Baywatch. She returned to the character of Neely for Hawaiian Wedding, then left showbiz. Nolin will reportedly join others of Baywatch for The B Team, and she has a role in Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens.

Kelly Packard

Kelly Packard played lifeguard April Giminski, who is perhaps most notable in hindsight as the only big Baywatch actress to be kept on when the show moved the action from Los Angeles to Hawaii. Interestingly, Packard played more characters than just April on Baywatch. In addition to Seasons 8 and 9 as April, Packard turned up in Seasons 2, 3, and 6 in different roles. The actress hasn't done much since leaving Baywatch in 1999. She had roles in the movies The Killing Point and Auto Focus in 2002, then popped up again in 2010 as Suzy in My Girlfriend's Boyfriend. Packard will be part of The B Team when it enters production.

Jason Simmons

Jason Simmons played the trouble-making lifeguard Logan Fowler throughout Seasons 5 -7. Logan came to California from Tasmania as a participant in a lifeguard exchange program, because that is definitely a real thing. He had a great reputation as a guard but didn't fit well with the rest of the team in Los Angeles. After leaving Baywatch, Jason Simmons scored the role of Victor in a pair of minor Frankenstein movies. He played Jonathan Hunter in the violent cult film Mad Cowgirl. Simmons returned to the ocean blue to appear in Sharknado in 2013. He had a major role in 3-Headed Shark Attack in 2015, which was of course the sequel to 2012's 2-Headed Shark Attack. He is set to show up in the B Team film.

Erika Eleniak

Erika Eleniak played Shauni McClain for the first three seasons of the series. She started out as a newbie lifeguard, but she grew into her role as a protector of the beach by the end of her time on Baywatch. Erika Eleniak appeared in CBS police drama Brooklyn South for three episodes in its first and only season, then moved to Fantasy Island for a pair of episodes. She's appeared in a handful of TV movies over the years before making it back to a big ongoing primetime show with a guest stint on CSI: Miami in 2010. She turned up next in an episode of Desperate Housewives in the same year, then moved back into TV movies with Holiday Spin in 2012.

Brooke Burns

Brooke Burns joined Baywatch in Season 9 as Jessie Owens, who began as a cleaner but was ultimately promoted to a lifeguard. Burns moved to the big screen immediately after Baywatch to appear in Shallow Hal. She returned to TV for roles in series such as North Shore and Pepper Dennis. She landed a role in the CW update of Melrose Place in 2009, then moved to the world of TV movies. Her latest ventures have been Hallmark movies The Gourmet Detective and The Gourmet Detective: A Healthy Place to Die

Jason Brooks

Jason Brooks played exemplary lifeguard Sean Monroe for the two seasons of Baywatch following the move to Hawaii. Sean blamed himself for the drowning death of his son and his subsequent divorce, but he gained the faith of Mitch in doing his job and managing the other guards. After the end of Baywatch, Jason Brooks became a guest star regular, appearing first on Charmed and then turning up on shows that ranged from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody to Torchwood. He had minor roles in Star Trek in 2009 and Super 8 in 2011. In 2014, he starred in Animal Planet's Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys with Shannen Doherty. Brooks had a one-episode part on NCIS: Los Angeles earlier this year.

Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra played lifeguard Lani McKenzie, who dreamed of becoming a famous dancer rather than staying a guard in the long term. She ultimately left the lifeguard life behind to try her hand at dancing in Las Vegas. After reuniting with the Baywatch crew for Hawaiian Wedding, Electra spent the next several years as a guest star all over the small screen. She started with Greetings from Tucson and worked her way up to American Dad! and House. Electra began the Naked Women's Wrestling League, which began in 2004 and officially ended in 2009. More recently, she starred in 2014's Lap Dance and 2015's Book of Fire.

Jason Momoa

Jason Momoa played the lifeguard Jason Ioane in the last two seasons of Baywatch. Jason was only 19 years old when he became a lifeguard for the Baywatch crew, but his strong water skills made up for his youthful stubbornness. Momoa found post-Baywatch success on the small screen with parts on North Shore from 2004 - 2005, Stargate: Atlantis from 2005 - 2009, and Game of Thrones in 2011. Although his character died in Season 1 of Thrones and only returned for a small Season 2 cameo, Khal Drogo introduced Momoa to a massive audience. In 2015, Momoa landed what may be the role of a lifetime. He'll play Aquaman in the DC film universe, and he made his debut in a Batman v. Superman cameo. Momoa will get a formal introduction as Aquaman in 2017's Justice League, then star in his own Aquaman solo movie in 2018.

Revivals have become the bread and butter of Hollywood in recent years. On the small screen, as well as the silver, bringing iconic properties back for new audiences has proven itself to be an immensely profitable tactic. One of the next Hollywood revivals we will receive is an update of Baywatch, and while David Hasselhoff won’t return for his iconic role, he has some ideas regarding bringing his other iconic TV series Knight Rider back for contemporary viewers.

Speaking with Variety, David Hasselhoff explained that he has a phenomenal idea for how to bring his hit series Knight Rider back:

There’s absolutely no question that this sort of project could work. The vehicular carnage of the Fast and the Furious franchise has become incredibly popular, as well as extremely profitable over the last few years. Bringing The Hoff into the equation to team up with Michael Knight's son for a Knight Rider reboot would not only capitalize on the love audiences have for that kind of action, but it would also most certainly draw in a section of the audience who has some degree of nostalgia for his old series.

Knight Rider revivals have occurred before. Back in 2008 NBC tried to reboot the series with little to no success. However, The Hoff’s version of a Knight Rider revival would likely work much better because it wouldn’t be a remake- it would be a continuation of the original story that would bring his character Michael Knight back into action.

While we’ve had a couple of decent box office hits, the first really big movie to be released in 2016 may very well be Deadpool (not counting The Revenant, which opened wide this year). It’s on track to make a ton of money during its debut weekend, and after recent surprise screenings, anticipation is super high. The marketing has also been on point, including star Ryan Reynold’s use of social media to engage fans, and his latest offering shows off the title character’s horrifying visage that lurks beneath his mask. And he drops a David Hasselhoff joke. So it’s a win all around.

As he has done many times already, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to give fans a little something, and this time he showed off what Deadpool looks like without his mask. We’ve already seen this a number of times in trailers and TV spots—TJ Miller’s character, Weasel, says he looks like an avocado had sex with an older avocado, which isn’t far off—but it’s no less horrific in full light and not moving.

And if you’re not fluent in German, and don’t want to go through the hassle of Google Translate, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered, and the caption translates to:

Yeah, that sounds about right. There’s no real context for this new image, but if nothing else, it, yet again, illustrates the irreverent sense of humor employed by the protagonist and the movie as a whole. If I had to hazard a guess, however, I’d probably say this comes from some action scene, maybe later in the movie, where he pulls off his mask to use his scarred appearance for shock value and gain a strategic advantage. Or maybe he just wants to gross out some random kids, I could see that happening too.

Deadpool follows Wade Wilson, a former special operations soldier who, when his body is ravaged by cancer pretty much everywhere, turns to an experimental procedure. The process gives him accelerated healing properties, but also leaves him with the troubling appearance you saw above and makes him a wee bit unstable in the mental department. With a brutal disregard for human life, a wicked sense of humor, and a penchant for breaking the fourth wall and addressing the audience directly, he sets out on a quest for revenge against those who did this to him and save his love interest (Morena Baccarin).

You’ll get to see the big screen adventures of the Merc with the Mouth when Deadpool hits theaters on February 12, just in time for a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway.

One of the most popular TV series the world has ever known is on the verge of getting its own movie adaptation. Whenever a remake or reboot happens, it’s not uncommon for the stars of the original project to get a role in the new one. Sometimes the student becomes a teacher. Other times, it may just be a cameo. Fans of the original love to see the people that made the property famous take their big screen bow. So why hasn’t anybody called David Hasselhoff about the Baywatch movie?

When it was first announced that a Baywatch movie was being worked on, it was reported that The Hoff would have a cameo role in the movie. Since then a lot of things have changed behind the scenes and while the movie has continued to move forward, with casting announcements made as recently as last week, nobody has spoken with Germany’s favorite pop star about it.

Baywatch was a ridiculously successful TV show all over the world, because pretty girls in swimsuits work in any language, and the idea of turning it into a movie has been on the drawing board for years. Bill Hader had been previously attached to star in the movie directed by Reno 911’s Robert Ben Garant. However, over the last few years a lot has changed. About a year ago it was announced that Dwayne Johnson was taking over as both a producer and the lead. Since then the ball has continued to slowly roll down the beach, as Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, and Kelly Rohrbach are now also attached to the film.

Over the course of the film’s development, there have been multiple attempts at a script, so it’s likely that the one that Ivan Reitman was referring to is no longer being used. Hopefully there’s still a place for David Hasselhoff to join in. Reitman is still listed as a producer on the project, so hopefully he remembers telling the former Mitch Buchannon that there was a role for him. One does not simply edit out The Hoff. In a few months, viewers will be graced with the latest installment of everybody's favorite disaster franchise Sharknado. One of the Sharknado 3 stars, David Hasselhoff, was out promoting the film recently and made a few very funny and extremely blunt comments about the upcoming made-for-TV movie.

Hasselhoff shared many thoughts on Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! in his recent interview with HuffPost Live, and, not one to hold back, he delivered a few frank comments that pretty much summed up the sequel as nothing short of terrible. Here's what the actor had to say:

He didn't stop there, though, as he went on to call the upcoming shark pic potentially “the worst movie you have ever seen.” While I can't help but agree, anybody who's seen the horror comedy films knows they are intentionally ridiculous, and have been popular because of that tone. The Hoff is clearly on board with the backwards nature of the film's marketing as well, as he doesn't bash the upcoming sequel in a negative manner, rather choosing to do so endearingly. He goes on express how fun it was to make the movie, saying the filmmakers had a “great sense of humor,” while assuring fans that “everybody's in on the joke.” We're thinking maybe the serious nature and killer CGI effects of the second film must have created a bit of a confusion for viewers. Thank you David Hasselhoff for clearing things up.

We first learned Sharknado 3 was happening when it was announced last April, months prior to the premiere of Sharknado 2. With the first film set in Los Angeles and the second bombarding New York City, we were happy to learn late last year that this upcoming third installment will take place in multiple locations including Washington DC and Orlando, FL. But we're not limited to those locations as Syfy promises destruction across the “Feast Coast.” While we're not certain where the film will take us, rest assured we'll get a heavy dose of the franchise's ridiculous CGI effects and potentially a few more chainsaw moments.

Hopefully we'll be lucky enough to get another entire week full of shark mania like last year's Sharknado Week. Sharknado 3 stars Tara Reid, Frankie Muniz, Bo Derek, Mark Cuban, Rick Fox, Ryan Newman, Ian Ziering and the above-mentioned David Hasselhoff among others. That's one heck of a cast! The epic disaster pic was written by Thunder Levin and directed by Anthony C. Ferrante and premieres on Syfy on July 22.

For a movie that almost never saw the light of day, Joe Carnahan’s Stretch most recently found itself a new lease on life through Universal’s newly budding interest in Video On Demand distribution. Since the show’s back on the road, the PR machine is officially in overdrive to promote the film's digital release this fall, and in order to draw the right attention, they've chosen the right clip to show the public. Behold, the wrath of The Hoff!

The official YouTube channel for Stretch has just dropped the footage of Patrick Wilson's main character, the titular Stretch, getting reamed out by David Hasselhoff for being an hour late to pick him up. However, knowing David Hasselhoff and the air of mysticism and nutty self importance he perpetuates about himself, Carnahan has amped up the Baywatch star's natural insanity to levels that we've never seen before. And it's absolutely beautiful!

If I were to compare Hasselhoff's diatribe with any other scene in the recent history of Hollywood, I'd say that it's on par with Tom Cruise's many rants as movie producer Les Grossman in the Ben Stiller directed comedy hit, Tropic Thunder. Here is a man without a trace of irony in how he views himself, and he's seen and done some things in his day to back up just how nuts he can get. Throw in a really interesting story about a Viet Cong general being violated with a stick grenade, and you have a caricature of David Hasselhoff that ranks up there with Grossman, or even The Thick Of It's Malcolm Tucker in the terms of profanely angry goodness.

Stretch is slowly teasing what type of Joe Carnahan movie it's going to turn out to be, and from the initial peeks the powers that be have given us so far, this looks to be a movie that's more in the Smokin' Aces category of Carnahan's filmography. Between Chris Pine's Beard and David Hasselhoff's short temper, Stretch looks like it's going to put Patrick Wilson (and the audience) through one hell of a ringer. It may have had a rough road to being released, but Stretch looks like it could be another Snowpiercer sized hit on Video On Demand when it finally sees the light of day.

Stretch doesn't have a release date yet, but hopefully we'll see a full trailer that promises even more insanity than the smaller clips released thus far have given us. Though, to be fair, there's a lot of those smaller clips on the official Stretch YouTube channel, so you can always create your own trailer with the pieces laid out before you. Bonus points will be given to anyone who can make David Hasselhoff's rant into a DubStep masterpiece.

Science fiction has always given its fans a good idea of where the world will be in the future. H.G. Wells sort of predicted cell phones and atomic bombs, and Arthur C. Clarke preconceived how parts of the Internet would work. And David Hasselhoff? Well, he was privy to the advent of vehicles becoming smarter than the humans driving them, and he reteamed with his four-wheeled Knight Rider partner KITT for an awesome Samsung commercial that pays homage to that classic series while also showing off some nifty home technology.

SamsungTomorrow, understandably, is the company’s push towards the future, and that future will hopefully be voiced by William Daniels. In the ad, the Hoff is tapped to show off Samsung’s new Smart Home, which will eventually allow homeowners to control many different things from a Samsung smartphone and other handheld devices. Is Hasselhoff’s bedroom too cold? Just turn the thermostat down. Does Hasselhoff’s oven need to be preheated so he can scarf down some cheeseburger pizzas later in the evening? It’s just a touchscreen prompt away.

As you might imagine, a home that does all of these things is a definite potshot to KITT, who is jealous of Hasselhoff’s new friend. So it does what any envious vehicle would do: haunts the outside of the smart house, trying to get Hasselhoff’s attention. And when that doesn’t work and its feelings are hurt beyond repair, KITT rolls by with a new driver. One that looks amazingly like Chris Pratt, the Guardians of the Galaxy star rumored to be in the running for the Michael Knight role in the upcoming feature remake. And if having a new buddy wasn’t enough of a blow, KITT also says that his new driver is smarter. Ba-zing!

But nobody puts one over on the Hoff – besides the man himself – and he uses his Samsung smart watch to close his giant front gates, locking KITT inside. I think it’s safe to assume fisticuffs ensue, but the commercial unfortunately ends there, with Hasselhoff laughingly saying his own name out loud. Screw the money and the fame, I want to be in a place in my life where my name becomes a second nature exclamation.

All in all, it’s a solid ad, and plays up the Hoff’s more self-aware acting style. It’s possible we’ll see that same brand of acting in the upcoming Celebrity Death Pool comedy, in which Ken Jeong tries to murder him, along with a handful of other celebrities whose heydays have passed. If there’s ever a Demolition Derby movie about past-their-prime pop culture vehicles, I’m not going to be the one to break the news to KITT.

Quick! Think of the sleaziest, most unseemly way to make money possible. I haven’t the slightest idea what filth you thought of, but I can tell you Ken Jeong’s answer: murdering a celebrity in order to win a death pool.

It’s a scheme just crazy enough to work, and it’s the premise of a new comedy The Hangover star just boarded. Currently titled Untitled Celebrity Death Pool, the flick will follow a sleazy nightclub owner, obviously played by Ken Jeong, who falls deeply in debt to a loan shark. Naturally, his solution is to bet big on David Hasselhoff in the title death pool, then set off to California on a mad quest to murder the ex-Baywatch star.

You might think this premise would strike David Hasselhoff himself as pretty offensive, but he’s completely on board, both figuratively and literally. He’s given his stamp of approval by officially joining the cast as a fictionalized version of himself who may or may not be murdered.

In addition to Hasselhoff, Hulk Hogan has also boarded as another celebrity who may or may not get murdered. More celebrities are also in talks according to Variety, though none have been brave enough to officially sign on the dotted line. Something tells me the B-list will soon come flocking, however. Nothing says fun like a paycheck and a chance to remind the world you still exist.

The flick was written by Peter Hoare and is being helmed by Darren Grant. If that names sounds familiar, it’s because he’s responsible for Diary Of A Mad Black Woman, which is not the worst film ever released by any measure. The pic will be co-financed by WWE Studios and Hyde Park Entertainment, which is not nearly as bad as it sounds.

WWE Studios is way more legitimate than you think. The studio has had its hand in flicks like The Rundown and The Call, the latter of which was way better than it should have been. Moving forward, an upcoming Vince Vaughn flick is on the docket, as well as a few others that have real breakout potential.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg hit on something brilliant with their recently-released horror comedy This Is The End: it's awesome to watch movies with actors playing crazy, screwed up versions of themselves. There are plenty of examples of it throughout pop culture history (let's not forget the ridiculously awesome Neil Patrick Harris cameos in the Harold and Kumar trilogy), but Rogen and Goldberg played the gag to perfection in their directorial debut. Thanks to their film's success, we knew it wouldn't be long until another filmmaker seemingly caught a bit of inspiration - and that day has apparently come.

According to The Wrap, both Ray Liotta and David Hasselhoff have boarded the upcoming action comedy Stretch from director Joe Carnahan, and apparently they will both be playing themselves in the movie. What's more, the cast has also added actor Shaun Toub, and the director has announced via Twitter that Iron Man 3's James Badge Dale has come aboard as well.

The film stars Patrick Wilson as Stretch, a down-on-his-luck limo driver with a bit of a gambling problem. When he discovers that he is only one job away from paying off his bookie, he takes a gig escorting a mysterious billionaire (Chris Pine) with some bizarre tastes. As the night progresses, things get weirder and more crazy, as Stretch finds himself stuck with the client from hell. The latest casting report doesn't mention how Liotta, Hasselhoff or Dale will fit into the movie, but notes that Toub will be the "no-nonsense owner of the limo company" that Stretch works for.

The casting process has been going on for months now, with Wilson having signed on to the movie all the way back in November of last year, but the project has really been getting up and running over the last couple months, having also added both Brooklyn Decker and Ed Helms to the lineup. The film is being made with a low budget as a co-production between Universal and Blumhouse and cameras are scheduled to start rolling on Sunday. Universal has already announced that the movie will be coming out on March 21, 2014, a date that puts it in direct competition with both the anticipated young adult novel adaptation Divergent as well as the James Bobin-directed sequel Muppets Most Wanted.

Some of you may remember that Hasselhoff actually just played himself in a movie recently, having starred as a water park lifeguard in the horror movie Piranha 3DD. Feel free to revisit those memories with the trailer below.

In a little over a month, the fish will enter the water once again. The follow-up to Piranha arrives in theaters on June 1. In addition to the promise of double the terror, fun and double the D's, we'll also have the opportunity to bask in the glow of the Hoff. Baywatch fans will appreciate what's included in this updated trailer for Piranha 3DD.

If you've seen the previously released trailer for the John Gulager directed Piranha sequel, most of what you see in the trailer below is going to seem very familiar. But toward the end, we get an extended look at David Hasselhoff's appearance in the film, and it's definitely worth a chuckle.

Those familiar with Hoff's red-shorts-wearing Baywatch days likely recognized the signature life-guard-run moment in the above trailer. Of course, the added bonus is that he gets winded almost right away. Mitch Buchannon, he is not. But it looks like Hasselhoff's presence in the film will offer some mid-carnage humor, which is certainly a plus. It's just unlikely to be much help to the people being devoured by piranhas in the water.

With a title like Piranha 3DD audiences expect a heaping dose of gore with plenty of T&A, and the latest trailer for this feeding frenzy flick doesn't disappoint. There are loads of leering close-ups of a bevy of bikini-clad beauties, plus the promise of unrepentant havoc. But that's not all! Punching up the darkly comic element of this freaky fish tale are appearances from Baywatch's David Hasselhoff playing a snide parody of himself, Anchorman's David Koechner as a horn-dog water park operator, the often unhinged Gary Busey, and the befuddling return of Paul Scheer, who mysteriously vanished half-way through the last movie, and Ving Rhames, who lost his legs in a most horrifying— but badass--fashion. Directed by John Gulager, the twisted mind who helmed the Feast trilogy, Piranha 3DD takes the terror closer to home by having the flesh-craving fish from the Alexandre Aja's Piranha leaving the lake behind to storm the town's waterlines. Not only do these bloodthirsty piranhas invade a popular, stripper-stuffed water park, but they also venture into people's bathtubs, leading to a vagina dentata setup that's sure to terrify teens for decades to come. Of course, the premise is preposterous, but who cares? Gulager looks like he's bringing a lot of enthusiasm to this wholly insane feature, making it seem far more fun than Aja's misanthropic entry into the franchise. With an irreverent attitude, elements of body horror, cheeky allusions and bits of biting comedy, Gulager looks to have created a monster movie that's sure to be bizarre but could also be brilliant—in a B-movie kind of way.

This trailer has the potential to go viral with its insanity, craziness and creepiness all fused together. David Hasselhoff promotes Burnout: Crash for the Xbox 360 Kinect by basically blowing up an ice-cream truck with an explosive chicken egg.

I’ve got to warn you that heading into this trailer can render some unforeseen results: you may find yourself huddled in a corner from fear, crying uncontrollably, mesmerized or equally horrified. This is mainly because the trailer is all kinds of weird and you can check it out below.

Did you notice how the Hasselhoff got really intensed into his work, channeling his inner Adam West to really bring his chicken powers to life? Truly remarkable. Now after you get done laughing or crying or whatever sort of emotion that strange video above stirred up within you, you can take note that Burnout: Crash is currently available for the Xbox Live Arcade, unfortunately the Hasselhoff is not included.

The game is basically a compilation of mini-game mechanics based around taking various vehicles and blowing them up in different ways, all while creating combos out of chain explosions. It’s one of those mindless pastime games.

I'm not sure who scooped this but I'm more than a little surprised, with FX's hit biker series Sons of Anarchy coming to Comic-Con in less than a month's time, that this pretty big news surfaced today and wasn't saved for a Hall H surprise in San Diego. The Hoff is coming to Charming, California.

David Hasselhoff, the former lifeguard and judge (of America's Got Talent) has landed a guest spot on the critically acclaimed cable TV show, joining other recent, high-profile additions like Danny Trejo. TVGuide describes his role as, "Dondo, a well-endowed former porn star who is now making major coin by producing sleazy girl-on-girl adult films." I wonder if Dondo likes cheeseburgers? Yes, I went with that joke instead of the rampant Baywatch Speedo-filling references floating around the web. Ick.

Just last week we got to see some photographic spoils of the upcoming season, with Kelly's aptly titled post, "A Wedding and a Haircut" in which, we see Opie and Lyla's wedding as well as Charlie Hunnam's Jax, standing as best man yet lacking his usual long blonde locks. As we know, Ms. Lyla, or Mrs. Lyla soon, once made her living in the world of adult film and since the Hoff's coming in to the series looking to produce some 'sleazy girl-on-girl adult films' there just might be a connection there. Do I smell trouble between the bride, the groom and the Hoff?

Sons of Anarchy is entering its fourth season this September and stars Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman and Katey Sagal (who won a Golden Globe for her performance last season... and happens to be married to showrunner/creator Kurt Sutter). SoA returns to Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET this fall.

Apparently the upcoming Movie Lot expansion to Pain will come with its own celebrity. Baywatch and Knight Rider star David Hasselhoff will appear as a playable character in the masochistic PSN game.

In Pain, the objective is to inflict as much damage as possible on your character (and others) by flinging them from a catapult and controlling their descent. According to People, the virtual Hasselhoff you're tossing around will wear "a Knight Rider jump suit emblazoned with "The Hoff" on the back".

Hasselhoff will also be lending his musical skills to an in-game downloadable track. He'll be a singing a cover of Culture Club's "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" to add to the eighties nostalgia. The Movie Lot expansion will be released on PSN on November 6th.
