It’s been nearly a year since we last saw Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock on a collision course with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, culminating in quite dour fashion to set up Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. This season is all about resistance, so snatch up that Disney+ and Hulu bundle now at a discounted price if you’re not a subscriber, because if these first reactions to early screenings are any indication, Marvel fans aren’t going to want to miss out on this.

In addition to the Daredevil and Kingpin actors reprising their roles with much of the Season 1 cast, Krysten Ritter will appear as Jessica Jones, Lili Taylor is joining as the New York governor, Matthew Lillard will clash with Kingpin as Mr. Charles, Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne/Swordsman and Jack Mulhern as simply “Philip.” Vincent D’Onofrio has been hyping Season 2 as “fucking brutal,” and that’s an opinion that’s shared by critic Christopher Gallardo who posted on social media:

Thomas Storai of Future of The Force agrees, writing that the sophomore season takes the upcoming Marvel series to new heights:

Darren Movie Reviews posts that after seeing half of the Season 2 episodes, they can confirm Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is Marvel’s “most compelling television series to date” with excellent writing, strong performances and “exhilarating” fight scenes. Here’s what they have to say:

Many passionate fans have seen all of the Marvel movies in order, so when they’re excited enough to say Daredevil: Born Again’s second season is among the best the franchise has to offer, that’s a pretty good sign. Daniel Baptista of The Movie Podcast certainly has high praise for the eight-episode season, posting:

The relevance to current events does make for a bit of a rough watch, according to Brandon Norwood of The Film Blerds, but that doesn’t take away from the quality of the story, which he says includes a great redemption arc for one character. Norwood writes:

Nexus Point News declares Season 2 an “upgrade,” writing that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio give “powerhouse performances,” but don’t sleep on a show-stealing Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page. Their post reads:

We can’t forget about Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye, either, as Aeron Eclarinal of The Direct calls him the MVP of this second season, while echoing the previous critic’s sentiments about the action sequences. Eclarinal’s post says:

The first reactions to Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 are full of words like “brutal” and “mayhem,” with many reporting that the series goes darker this season than the first. Marvel fans appear to have plenty to be excited about — especially with Season 3 already in development.

When Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres, Matt Murdock will find himself in a dire situation, as he seeks to combat the machinations of New York City Mayor Wilson Fisk (a.k.a. Kingpin). Murdock will, however, have allies fighting alongside him, including longtime friend Karen Page. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of Page has long been a favorite amongst fans, including myself. Now, I’m even more hyped for her return due to the series’ showrunner sharing his take on Page’s importance as a character.

There was fan disappointment early into Born Again Season 1’s development cycle when it was confirmed that Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen was one of the OG characters who wouldn’t appear heavily within the show. However, that all changed due to DD’s creative overhaul, which was spearheaded, at the time by newly named EP Dario Scardapane. SFX Magazine on CinemaBlend recently caught up with Scardapane to discuss Season 2. And it was during that chat that the producer recalled the discussions he had about Karen’s role early on:

Page’s presence during the first season of Born Again (streamable with a Disney+ subscription) was indeed limited. The series premiere sees her mourning the murder of good friend Franklin “Foggy” Nelson and later attending the trial of the man who murdered him (Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye). Karen, who’s living in San Francisco, later returns to NY at the end of the season to help Matt find legal evidence from the late Foggy to sink Fisk.

As a fan, I greatly appreciate Scardapane’s passion in trying to keep Karen involved within Season 1’s narrative. What I also love is the former Punisher producer’s take on how he and Woll view the character in general, which makes me both excited and intrigued for what’s to come in the second season:

Karen is indeed more than a love interest or a run-of-the-mill supporting character. She’s someone who’s meant to serve as Matt’s equal in several ways. In the time since she debuted in the original Netflix series, Page has proven her merit as a journalist and an individual with a keen knowledge of legalese, which is why she’s now a lawyer. As for how Dario Scardapane and Deborah Ann Woll collaborated on the character’s further development, the former said:

Karen has been glimpsed a few times in Season 2 promotional photos and footage thus far (and even appears to sport red hair at some point). It seems she’s going to be in the trenches with Matt along with more than a few New York citizens who want Fisk taken down. Someone else who may or may not be a key ally in this fight is the returning Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), who I’d love to see share the screen with Page.

Fans still have to wait a few weeks for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 to arrive, but Scardapane’s comments on Karen and others give hope that he and his team have been thoughtful about how to approach the story and characters. The season premieres on March 24 as part of the 2026 TV schedule.

The Punisher may not be appearing in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 (though not to worry, as Jon Bernthal is reprising the role next year in both a one-off Disney+ special and Spider-Man: Brand New Day), but Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock will still be joined by an ally from the Marvel Netflix days. Krysten Ritter is making her long-awaited return as Jessica Jones when Born Again starts airing on the 2026 TV schedule, and we finally have our first look at her and Daredevil paired together again. As great as that is, however, I’m also intrigued by seeing Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page as a redhead in the upcoming Marvel TV show.

What To Expect From Jessica Jones In Born Again Season 2

In the Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 finale, Matt Murdock started assembling a team to help bring down Wilson Fisk after declared martial law, outlawed vigilantism and started imprisoning people opposing him. Jessica Jones will be one of those recruits, and you can see her and Daredevil out in broad daylight with each other below:

When last we saw Jessica Jones in the final episode of her own series (which can now be streamed with a Disney+ subscription alongside all the other Marvel shows that were originally on Netflix), she was getting ready to leave NYC, but changed her mind after hearing the voice of the deceased Kilgrave tell her that she was making the right decision. It remains to be seen how much we’ll learn about what’s happened to Jessica since then, but as far as her reuniting with Matt for the first time since The Defenders goes, Charlie Cox said this to EW about working with Krysten Ritter again:

Brad Winderbaum added that Jessica Jones’ presence in Born Again Season 2 is “comparable” to how much we saw of Punisher in Season 1. So it sounds like we should only expect to see her in a couple episodes, though maybe this will open the door for her to return in Season 3. Winderbaum also described Matt as a “revolutionary” in Season 2, while Cox recalled that showrunner Dario Scardapane frequently referenced the French Revolution during filming.

What To Expect From Karen Page In Born Again Season 2

Karen Page will be another one of Matt Murdock’s allies in the fight against Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin. After being one of the original Daredevil series’ principal characters, she had a reduced presence in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, only appearing in the premiere and finale. But not to worry, Karen fans, as she’ll have a lot more to do in Season 2, including don some disguises, as shown with the reheated wig she’s wearing while seated next to Matt in the slide above. Cox shared about Deborah Ann Woll’s role:

While Jessica Jones can bring the hurt to bad guys directly with her super strength, enhanced speed and other abilities, Karen will be aiding in the resistance in more behind-the-scenes ways. While I still prefer her as a blonde, I like the redhead look for when she’s looking to get around without people recognizing her. I guess this means Karen’s life in San Francisco is done, as she relocated there after Bullseye killed Foggy Nelson.

Speaking of which, Elden Henson will also reprise Foggy in some unknown capacity, and Seas 2’s newcomers include Matthew Lillard as influential “power player” Mr. Charles and Lili Taylor as New York governor Margaret McCaffrey. Daredevil: Born Again premieres March 4 on Disney+, and I’m looking forward to seeing what challenges await Matt with Jessica, Karen and more by his side.

We’re just a couple of weeks away from the release of Daredevil: Born Again, the upcoming Marvel series that will see the return of not just Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, but also several other characters who first appeared in the Daredevil series produced for Netflix. Considering that originally there were no plans to bring back the supporting cast, it made coming back together all the sweeter for them.

Daredevil: Born Again underwent a major overhaul during production and while a lot of the details of exactly what changed have not been confirmed, what we know is that stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio voiced their displeasure with the direction of the show, and then that direction changed. Speaking with EW, Charlie Cox says that initially not having Deborah Ann Woll and Eldon Henson involved felt “painful,” but having them on set was “healing…”

The Hollywood Writers’ Strike may have been the best thing to happen to Daredevil: Born Again. The strike forced the show to shut down mid-production and it was during this hiatus that the problem was discovered. It sounds like the series was trying to straddle a line between being a follow-up to the Netflix series and being a reboot. It was decided the show needed to pick a lane.

Executive producer Sana Amanat tells EW that the characters of Karen and Foggy, played by Moll and Henson, weren’t completely ignored in the original version of Born Again, but they clearly wouldn’t have appeared, at least in the first season. When that view changed and the actors were brought back in, fans got very excited. Woll says sitting with her castmates again was a moment of “absolute joy…”

It seems most fans felt the same way. The Netflix Daredevil series was generally well-regarded and nobody seemed to be looking for a reinvention. By all accounts, the new series will very much feel like Season 4 of Daredevil, including potentially being one of the most violent things you can watch with a Disney+ subscription. Daredevil: Born Again debuts March 4.

When the gritty Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again hits the 2025 TV schedule after years of fan anticipation, it’ll bring back two characters audiences haven’t spent time with in nearly seven years. Not Matt Murdock or Wilson Fisk, of course, since both Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio’s characters previously returned in various series. No, we’re talking about Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, who will be reprising their respective roles of legal partners Karen Page and “Foggy” Nelson.

Understandably, fans were upset to learn that the first iteration of Daredevil: Born Again’s narrative wouldn’t be welcoming back familiar characters for official MCU introductions, though that questionable decision was thankfully reversed after behind-the-scenes changes were implemented surrounding the 2023 Hollywood strikes. And as showrunner Dario Scardapane put it when talking to Empire, getting Woll and Henson back in the fold was a top priority. As he put it:

Considering Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson shared the screen with Charlie Cox as much as anyone else across Daredevil's three pre-MCU seasons, it still remains baffling that the original creative team opted not to bring either of them back. I mean, that version of the Man Without Fear's revival also didn't plan to bring Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle back, but as a former writer/producer on The Punisher, Dario Scardapane didn't take long before confirming the fan-favorite character would be returning as well.

After Karen and Foggy's returns were confirmed to be happening, Charlie Cox expressed he was heartbroken over their absence while filming episodes before everything was revamped and refilmed. But for Scardapane, their involvement was legitimately the line in the sand dictating whether or not he'd agree to sign on. As he put it:

Scardapane is referring to the final episode of Daredevil's initial run, in which Matt, Foggy and Karen agreed to rekindle their connections and expand the two-name firm into becoming Nelson, Murdock and Page. To continue Matt's adventures in Hell's Kitchen without addressing that prior conclusion would have been blasphemous for fans. Especially after Deborah Ann Woll spoke previously about not finding acting work in the immediate aftermath of Daredevil’s cancellation at Netflix.

While we can look forward to seeing the returns of both Woll and Henson, the role of Vanessa Fisk was originally recast, with Sandrine Holt brought in to replace Ayelet Zurer, who held the role in Netflix's series. But after the reworked storylines were set, Holt was replaced by Zurer. As well, Wilson Bethel is back as Benjamin Poindexter, who will potentially take on the comic villain moniker of Bullseye. But no clue on whether or not we'll see a new Elektra down the line.

We thankfully aren't far from Daredevil: Born Again debuting for fans with Disney+ subsctiptions, and it'll hit the streaming platform on Tuesday, March 4.

Following a series of cameos that officially brought Charlie Cox’s Daredevil into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the man without fear is set to finally get his own show with the upcoming Marvel TV series, Daredevil: Born Again. The show (which will be able to stream with a Disney+ subscription) will also see the return of original Daredevil co-stars Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, following a significant retooling of the series. Cox says the initial plan to make the show without them was “heartbreaking” and he’s thrilled they’re now back.

Speaking with fans during Washington DC’s Awesomecon, (via @ddcastarchive on Twitter), Charlie Cox was asked about working with his old friends again, and he made it clear that he very much missed his co-stars when they weren’t there. Thus he was very happy when they returned. Cox said…

When Daredevil: Born Again first went into production, it appeared to be as disconnected from the original Daredevil series on Netflix as possible. Cox was back as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, and Vincent D’Onofrio was Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, but beyond that, there was no indication the new series would actually function as a continuation of the original series. It seemed to rather be a complete reboot that happened to use a couple of the same actors.

However, last fall when production on Daredevil: Born Again was halted due to the writers' and actors' strikes, the Disney+ show was completely retooled with a new creative team. Since then it’s been reported that not only will Henson and Woll be back, but we’ll also see the return of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher and Wilson Bethel who played Daredevil villain Bullseye in the original series. The Daredevil: Born Again cast, now looks essentially as we would expect it to look if the original Netflix series was just getting another season.

While Daredevil: Born Again may still make changes to the canon established in the previous series, fans of that series will be excited to see so many of their old favorites returning. The release of Echo shows the MCU isn’t afraid to get dark and violent on Disney+, so the new Daredevil series will likely try to emulate the look and feel of the original, and we certainly hope it succeeds. An exact release date for Daredevil: Born Again hasn't been announced, but it's expected to arrive sometime early in 2025.

Back in October, word came in that Daredevil: Born Again was making some major behind-the-scenes changes following Kevin Feige and the other higher-ups at Marvel Studios reportedly being unimpressed by what had been shot so far. The result was a new Born Again creative team being put together, and with these hires would also come some major changes to the upcoming Marvel TV show’s story. I’d written around this time that I hoped this included Foggy Nelson and Karen Page being brought back, and much to my delight, some set videos have confirmed that these Daredevil fan favorites are indeed returning.

Videos shared by X user @kolyambo960 show Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll reprising their roles from the original Daredevil series. The actors can first be seen shooting a scene involving them entering a ramen restaurant, and then are later shown walking down a street with costar Charlie Cox, a.k.a. the MCU’s Matt Murdock. When this show was initially being put together, there was no plan to include Henson and Woll in the Daredevil: Born Again cast, but now there’s proof that we’ll see them again, although it’s unclear whether they will be series regulars or only guest starring.

Had the original incarnation of Daredevil: Born Again moved forward, rumor had it that Matt had retired from being the Man Without Fear after failing to save Foggy from being killed, and Karen was supposedly not even mentioned in this series that, like the other Marvel Studios shows, will be streaming exclusively to Disney+ subscribers. Considering how important Foggy and Karen are to the Daredevil mythos, I found it strange that the show opted to treat the characters this way, but it’s good to see that these alleged plot points have been scrapped.

Confirmation of Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll’s involvement in Born Again comes a few days after it was reported that Wilson Bethel will reprise Benjamin Poindexter, whom he originally played in Daredevil Season 3. According to Deadline, Bethel will appear in three episodes, but it’s unclear if he’ll officially become Bullseye in the series, as in the original Daredevil show, he killed people either while dressed normally or wearing a Daredevil costume on behalf of Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin.

Speaking of Kingpin, Vincent D’Onofrio will also play a prominent role in Daredevil: Born Again, with the Echo miniseries’ ending teasing that he’ll either run for Mayor of New York City in the new show or already be elected to that office when we reunite with him. Additionally, Jon Bernthal is confirmed to be reprising Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher, and while this should come as welcome news for fans who enjoyed his and Karen Page’s relationship across both Daredevil and The Punisher spinoff series, whether or not Bernthal and Woll will share any screen time in Born Again remains to be seen.

As for new faces, Daredevil: Born Again will feature actors like Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Nikki M. James and Sandrine Holt, the latter of whom is taking over as Vanessa Fisk. Since production on the series only just resumed, it’ll likely be a long time until the show premieres on Disney+. Still, that doesn’t have to stop you from checking out the MCU’s other TV shows or going through the Marvel movies in order.

While we once knew that Daredevil: Born Again was expected to premiere sometime in early 2024, that no longer appears to be the case, and not just because of the writers and actors strikes indefinitely delaying production. Word’s come in that Born Again is going through a major creative overhaul that, among other things, has resulted in the writers and directors being let go, and Marvel Studios now forming a new creative team. Though some footage from the episodes that were shot will supposedly be retained in the final product, Born Again is now set to be much different than what was originally envisioned, and I’m hoping this means that it’s more likely the upcoming Marvel TV show will bring back Karen Page and Foggy Nelson.

Karen and Foggy have been important characters in the Daredevil mythology since the beginning, while the 2003 Daredevil movie didn’t give them much screen time, Netflix’s Daredevil series wisely positioned them as major players, who were respectively played by Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson. In fact, both actors reprised their roles in The Defenders miniseries and a few of Marvel’s other Netflix era shows. And yet, as you’ll see looking over the Daredevil: Born Again cast list, Woll and Henson are nowhere to be found. The only confirmed familiar faces back are Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock (duh), Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher.

Born Again’s lack of Karen Page and Foggy Nelson has never been officially addressed, and based off various rumors and reports, it seems like there was never any plan to even feature them in recurring or guest starring capacities. Specifically, scooper @CanWeGetSomeToast claims that in the original iteration off the show, Matt retired from being Daredevil after failing to save Foggy from being killed, and in a separate tweet, they say Karen was never even mentioned, which sounds bizarre. 

Now that Daredevil: Born Again is going through these behind-the-scenes changes though, hopefully the lack of Foggy and Karen can be rectified, although I wouldn’t necessarily put money on it. @CanWeGetSomeToast later speculated that Foggy’s death will be among the plot points that’s kept in the new version, assuming the first four episodes are left “intact.” Still, I hope this doesn’t end up being true because Foggy and Karen deserve better than to be sidelined or not mentioned at all.

I’m not saying everyone reading this needs to be a fan of Elden Henson’s Foggy and/or Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen, but these characters are too integral to not to be included in Daredevil: Born Again, regardless of if this show is directly tied to Netflix’s Daredevil or exists in a separate continuity. They’re crucial to grounding Matt and keeping him in a more mentally healthy place. But even if Born Again’s story necessitates that Matt Murdock be surrounded by primarily new faces, that’s no reason why these two can’t pop their heads in briefly, whether it be in the present day or flashbacks. 

I should note that in Foggy’s case especially, could the writing team really not think of anything better to do than kill him off? The only way I’d be ok with that is if it turned out that his death was faked in a way that deceived even Matt, but he eventually learns the truth and reunites with his best friend… but I digress. The point is, having a Daredevil show without Karen and Foggy would be like having a Batman show without Alfred Pennyworth and Commissioner James Gordon. It’s doable, but a weird choice. Obviously the main people are tuning in is to watch Daredevil battle bad guys, but when it comes to humanizing elements in a story centered on the Man Without Fear, it doesn’t get much better than Karen and Foggy.

My fingers are crossed that the new creative talent behind Daredevil: Born Again find a way to squeeze them directly into the new story, even if they don’t end up being leading characters. If that happens, count on CinemaBlend to let you know about as part of our ongoing MCU coverage. Also, remember whenever Born Again does arrive, it will be streaming directly to Disney+ subscribers.

There is a lot to be excited about when it comes to the Daredevil: Born Again cast, like the return of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. However, I couldn’t help but be a little disappointed when I found out Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson are not expected to reprise their roles as Matt Murdock’s friends and partners, Karen Page and Foggy Nelson. However, a new set detail may explain why we won’t be seeing much of Daredevil’s pals in the upcoming Disney+ series, and it’s making me feel a little bit better. 

The production of Daredevil: Born Again has officially started up, and a photo of Charlie Cox dressed as Matt Murdock walking by a church with a bulletin board that has the date March 15, 2020 on it was posted on Twitter by Daredevil Updates. This date has sparked a theory that this upcoming Marvel show might take place during the Blip, which means half the population is still gone, so maybe Foggy and Karen were among the many who disappeared after Thanos snapped his fingers. 

While this is just a theory, it makes a lot of sense, and I could totally see the Blip being the reason we won’t get to see Foggy and Karen in Season 1 of this new Daredevil show. I found it hard to believe that Woll and Henson weren’t going to be included in the upcoming Marvel series, because they were integral characters in Daredevil during its Netflix days. However, if they got snapped away as Spider-Man, Black Panther, Falcon and the Winter Soldier did, it makes their absence a bit more logical, and it adds a new level of complexity to Daredevil: Born Again. 

In various street-level projects, like Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Spider-Man: No Way Home we’ve seen the negative impact the Blip had on the world, especially when everyone came back, and many people were left displaced. Matt Murdock is a lawyer who prioritizes his community of Hell’s Kitchen, and I could totally see him taking on clients who lost their homes during the blip or lost loved ones to Thanos. So, if Foggy and Karen were taken by the Blip it seems logical that Matt would be fighting the good fight and dealing with the ramifications of the snap in Daredevil: Born Again without his partners. 

Down in the comments of the photo, DriftyFilm theorized that half of Daredevil: Born Again’s 18 episodes could take place during the Blip, and the other half could show the ramifications of everyone returning. They explained that doing this it would help the MCU connect the Netflix Daredevil series to Kingpin’s return in Hawkeye, which would help fill in the blanks between Season 3 of Daredevil and his entrance into the MCU.

While this theory seems like it could pan out, this whole situation might be as simple as Woll and Henson didn’t have the time to return to their characters. We’ve already learned that a casting switch has been made as Sandrine Holt is now set to play Vanessa Fisk, Wilson Fisk’s significant other. So, it’s possible that Foggy and Karen could also be recast, however, the actors who played them in Daredevil are so beloved by fans it would be shocking if they recast Matt Murdock's best firends. 

Hopefully, this is not the case, this fan's theory is correct, and we’ll get to see Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson return as Foggy and Karen someday. Not only would it explain their absence it would also give us a glimpse into Matt Murdock’s life between the end of the Netflix series and his return in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk. However, it’ll be a while before we get our answers, as Daredevil: Born Again is slated among Marvel’s upcoming shows for a spring 2024 release. So, while we wait to see what happened to Foggy and Karen, you can go back and watch Daredevil with a Disney+ subscription. 

This past year has been super exciting for Daredevil fans. After the show was tragically canceled after Season 3, the last month of 2021 brought Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But what about the other stars of the Netflix series? Well, Deborah Ann Woll, who played Karen Page on Daredevil talked about the possibility of returning to Hell’s Kitchen.   

When the show got canceled on Netflix it was heartbreaking. Lots of the stars have spoken about it in the years since, the show’s star even said he didn’t think it would come back. But, we’re here, Daredevil is back in the MCU, and while we know the main hero and villain of the show are returning, we don’t know about various supporting characters. Deborah Ann Woll recently spoke to Collider about this, and if she would be returning to play Matt Murdock's friend and co-worker Karen Page. 

I sure hope she’s able to come back! Based on her co-stars' involvement in the MCU for the last year, I feel like the rest of the Daredevil cast will be back eventually. 

If you’ve been watching the Marvel projects in order, you’ll know that Cox made his return as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and D’Onofrio returned as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Hawkeye. Then, this week Mr. Murdock returned again and put himself on the Fall 2022 TV schedule when he showed up in Episode 8 of She-Hulk. We’ve only seen these two actors return from the OG Daredevil series, and we also know they’ll both be back in upcoming Marvel projects.

One of those projects Cox and D’Onofrio are both confirmed to come back for is Daredevil: Born Again, which will be the official comeback of Daredevil in a solo project focused on the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen and his companions. Woll acknowledged this new show, saying: 

Personally, I don’t think we’d be able to have Daredevil without his pals Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, at the very least. Just like Kingpin, they both played vital roles in Daredevil as Matt Murdock’s partners at his law firm Nelson and Murdock. With D’Onofrio returning in Hawkeye and confirmed for Echo and Daredevil: Born Again, I’d assume we will see more of the original supporting cast in the upcoming show, which is set to start filming next year, according to Game Rant.  

Along with Woll, Rosario Dawson has talked about returning to her role in the world of Daredevil. She played the Night Nurse Claire Temple, and she made it clear she’d be down to come back for Born Again. 

Hopefully, we’ll get to see Woll, Dawson, and others from the cast of Daredevil back for Born Again. However, it will be a while before we find out if they’ll be back since the show is not set to come out until 2024. However, while we wait you can go back and watch three seasons of Daredevil as well as the other Marvel projects with a Disney+ subscription. 

The pieces seem to be falling in place for a Daredevil revival at Disney and Marvel Studios. Recent reports allege that the reboot is moving forward and is aiming to kick off production sometime before the end of the year. While many fans are excited by the possibility of seeing more from the Man Without Fear, they also have a number of questions. One of those queries is how Marvel might fill out the cast of the alleged project. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, who’ve recently reprised their respective roles, are probably shoo-ins. But the status of stars like Deborah Ann Woll is still unclear. Now, the actress is sharing thoughts on possibly bringing Karen Page to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 

Karen Page became a key part of the Marvel-Netflix franchise during its run, and Deborah Ann Woll received praise for her performance. It’s been a few years since Woll played the inquisitive legal assistant-turned-journalist, as fans last saw Page in The Punisher Season 2. Despite having been away from Karen for a few years though, Woll told Den of Geek that she’s still more than game to reprise the role in the MCU:

Like many fans, Deborah Ann Woll wasn’t exactly thrilled when Daredevil was cancelled by Netflix after three seasons back in 2018. The following year, Woll revealed that she felt “sad” when she learned of the cancellation, though she took some pleasure in knowing that the series was axed “at the height of [its] powers.” Woll subsequently opened up and got particularly emotional about not finding acting work following the end of the show (which can now be streamed using a Disney+ subscription).

The True Blood alum has also been standing alongside fans, as they petition for DD to be revived. With a reboot of some kind seemingly on the way, one might assume that the Karen Page character would be involved somehow. As one of Matt Murdock’s key allies, it would make sense to keep her in the mix. Marvel Studios could, however, opt to retool the character’s mythology a bit, which could shift Page (and maybe others like Foggy Nelson) out of the picture. 

It’s probably safe to assume that those kinds of omissions are not the kind of changes fans want to see. There is a key alteration lead actor Charlie Cox would like to see, however. He recently revealed that he wants Daredevil’s costume to change, as he’d like the hero to have his iconic DD emblem. Aside from superhero duds, Cox has also discussed the possibility of doing a “lighter” PG-13 take on the Marvel character, which would differ from the three gritty seasons he’s done so far.

These are all elements that should certainly be considered by fans as Marvel Studios and Disney’s plans for Daredevil become clearer. Let’s hope Deborah Ann Woll and all of her former co-stars fit into whatever direction the purported project plans to take.

Disney+ has been home to most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there have been a few TV shows that the streaming service hasn’t been able to scoop up. That is, until now - since series like Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D  and The Defenders have finally arrived on the platform. With this, stars like Ming-Na Wen, Clark Gregg, and Finn Jones are celebrating their long-awaited homecoming. 

Ming-Na Wen recently took to social media to announce the arrival of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D  arriving on Disney+. Check out her Instagram post: 

The actress' post features a screenshot of the homepage for Disney+, where a banner for S.H.I.E.L.D  is on full display. On the fan-favorite show, she played Melinda May, a.k.a The Cavalry, a badass weapons expert and pilot who was later revealed to have a tragic backstory. In the closing moments of the show, she was revealed to have become a teacher at the aptly named Coulson Academy. 

Meanwhile, her former co-star, Clark Gregg (otherwise known as veteran agent and Avengers ally Phil Coulson), celebrated the show's digital move by sharing a charming photo album filled with behind-the-scenes snapshots. Take a look below: 

His pics include shots with Samuel L. Jackson, Patton Oswalt, and even the late comics legend Stan Lee. Clark Gregg began his tenure in the MCU as Nick Fury’s right-hand man in Iron Man, but his character got an upgrade when he became the lead of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Nearly all of the programs began their tenure as Netflix originals before being transferred to their new streaming. With this, they were unavailable to he House of Mouse when it launched its own streaming service back in 2019. The wait was long, but, for Marvel fans who are ready to have all of their favorites in one place, it's sure to be worth it.

After a year of set delays, moviegoers are thrilled that so many highly anticipated projects are currently coming together. This includes Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is set to arrive in just a few months this coming December. There are countless rumors about the threequel currently circulating online, but one about Daredevil’s inclusion just got shut down by one of the actors involved.

Marvel fans are hoping that Daredevil might finally appear on the big screen for Spider-Man: No Way Home, possibly serving as Peter Parker’s lawyer. Another theory indicates that past Spider-Man and supporting casts might appear as MCU’s multiverse is ripped home. Some fans thought these theories got more validity when actress Kirsten Dunst was photographed with a masked woman that resembled Daredevil actress Deborah Ann Woll. That is, until Woll herself shut down these rumors, replying on Twitter with a frank message:

Well, there you have it. It looks like it wasn’t Deborah Ann Woll who was photographed with Kirsten Dunst recently. As such, the idea of her character Karen appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home feels less likely. But does that mean Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is also out of the question?

What’s made clear from the online discourse, as well as Deborah Ann Woll’s response on Twitter, is that fans are kind of going crazy theorizing about what might be present in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Tom Holland’s third solo movie is just months away, and there’s been no information confirmed or footage released. As such, more wild rumors are sure to circulate online.

The rumors about Spider-Man: No Way Home began almost immediately after Far From Home hit theaters back in 2019. When Mysterio revealed Peter Parker’s true identity and framed him for murder in the mid-credits scene, fans immediately thought that he might need a good lawyer. So why not let Charlie Cox and other Daredevil characters finally make their way to the big screen?

Kirsten Dunst comes into the equation because of another major Spider-Man: No Way Home theory; namely that Peter Parker and Doctor Strange will be dealing with the chaos of the multiverse. This could allow for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to reprise their roles as Spider-Man alongside supporting actors aka Dunst's Mary Jane Watson. The theory has been shut down by the likes of Holland and Garfield, but fans are holding out hope.

Six years ago, a new era of Marvel television kicked off with the debut of Daredevil on Netflix, starring Charlie Cox as the Man Without Fear. The series was among the more acclaimed offerings from Netflix’s roster of live-action Marvel content, and even though Daredevil was cancelled alongside all those other shows years back, many fans have hoped that Cox’s Matt Murdock will turn to the Marvel Cinematic Universe someday. Well, one of the Daredevil stars’ latest social media buzz has people buzzing about that potential.

Deborah Ann Woll starred as Karen Page for the entirety of Daredevil’s run, as well appeared in The Defenders miniseries and The Punisher. So she knows her way around the Marvel Netflix block, and the other day, Woll posted the below Daredevil-related poster on her Instagram page. Only as you’ll see, this isn’t the different Daredevil adaptation she participated in.

Rather than share an image from Netflix’s Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll opted to share the poster for 2003’s Daredevil movie, which starred Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Colin Farrell as Bullseye and Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin. On the one hand, it’s possible that Woll recently watched the Daredevil movie and enjoyed it enough to give it a shoutout on social media (if that’s the case, I hope she chose the director’s cut over the theatrical cut). On the other hand, given her ties to the Daredevil series, understandably various fans are wondering if she’s discreetly cluing fans in that Charlie Cox’s version of the character still has a future ahead of him.

We’ll likely never get a direct answer about the latter scenario, but of all the starring Marvel heroes we watched on Netflix from 2015 to 2019, Daredevil is arguably the one who has the most fan support for returning to the MCU. Although the Marvel Netflix shows technically existed within MCU continuity, those connections were sparse since Marvel Studios, which oversees the MCU movies and Disney+ shows, was not involved in their production. This often made it feel like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Punisher were operating in their own reality, but now that Marvel Studios has access to these characters following a two-year waiting period, there’s an opportunity to spotlight them in the MCU proper.

In Daredevil’s case, there’s already been rumors of him resurfacing in the near future. Back in January, it was reported that Charlie Cox shot scenes for Spider-Man: No Way Home, although even if this information is legitimate, it’s unclear if he’d only appear as Matt Murdock or if we’d also see him suit up as Daredevil. And even assuming that there does come a day that Cox’s Daredevil returns to the MCU in one form or another, because Marvel Studios is handling the character now, would his history from the Netflix shows be acknowledged or would he work off a clean slate, akin to when Judi Dench played two different versions of M in the James Bond franchise?

To summarize, Daredevil’s live-action future is clouded in uncertainty right now, and while Deborah Ann Woll’s Instagram post didn’t really clear anything up, it at least gave fans another chance to express their hopes that Charlie Cox will reprise the role one day. Granted, it’s not like Marvel Studios is lacking for characters to feature in its movies and/or on Disney+, but Daredevil’s popular enough that you can be sure he won’t be pulled off the shelf again in the coming years. The question is what form we’ll see him in: the familiar Cox one or one played by a new actor?

With only three seasons and nearly 40 episodes, Netflix's Daredevil didn't have a long stay, but it kept a devoted fanbase. The gritty, grounded take on the popular Marvel character ushered in a short-lived sideverse for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which also included Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders. Played by Charlie Cox, this brooding comic book series proved to be a more fitting take on the crime-fighter than the lackluster 2003 film adaptation, and it established the darker, more adult avenues that Marvel could explore.

In the role of Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who doubles as a vigilante, Charlie Cox played the lead in Netflix's Daredevil. He also adopted this role in The Defenders. Outside of this titular part, the actor can notably be seen in The Theory of Everything, Boardwalk Empire, Stardust, King of Thieves, The Merchant of Venice, Casanova, There Be Dragons, and Stone of Destiny.

Most recently, Charlie Cox appeared on Broadway in a 2019 production of Betrayal. Next, he'll be seen in the mini-series Kin. Additionally, there are rumors that the actor might reprise his role as Daredevil in the MCU, possibly with the currently-filming Spider-Man 3.

Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page)

As Karen Page, a justice-seeking woman who connects with Matt Murdock, Deborah Ann Woll played the female lead in Netflix's Daredevil. Outside of this series, Woll is best known for HBO's True Blood. She also played Karen in The Defenders and The Punisher. Her other notable credits include Catch .44, Ruby Sparks, Mother's Day (2010), Escape Room, My Name is Earl, ER, CSI, and The Mentalist.

Most recently, Deborah Anne Woll starred in the mini-series, Flight 008. Next, Woll will be seen in Ida Red. Outside of acting, the actress regularly appears as herself on BoardGameGeek's GameNight!

Elden Henson (Franklin “Foggy” Nelson)

Playing the part of Franklin "Foggy" Nelson, Matt Murdock's law partner and best friend, Elden Henson played a lighter, more reflective character than our titular vigilante. The actor also played this Marvel personality in The Defenders, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage.

Additionally, outside of this part, Elden Henson is best known for The Mighty Ducks trilogy. His other notable credits include The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and 2, The Butterfly Effect, Jobs, Lords of Dogtown, Under the Tuscan Sun, Dumb & Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, Deja Vu, Cast Away, She's All That, Idle Hands, Turner & Hooch, and Jaws: The Revenge. At the moment, Elden Henson's next project hasn't been announced.

Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin)

In the role of Wilson Fisk, a powerful crime lord and businessman better known as "Kingpin," Vincent D'Onofrio was heavily praised for his menacing, villainous performance in Netflix's Daredevil. An Emmy-nominated actor, D'Onofrio is best known for Full Metal Jacket, Men in Black, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, JFK, The Player, Ed Wood, Strange Days, The Whole Wide World, The Cell, Jurassic World, and Homicide: Life on the Street. His other notable credits include Mystic Pizza, Adventures in Babysitting, Stuart Saves His Family, Feeling Minnesota, The Newton Boys, The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, Thumbsucker, Cadillac Records, Escape Plan, Brooklyn's Finest, Sinister, The Magnificent Seven (2016), Death Wish (2018), and The Kid, which he also directed.

Currently, Toby Leonard Moore can be seen in Billions. Most recently, the actor appeared in Mank. He also plays a part in Condor. Next, Moore will be seen in The Volunteers and Payback. He'll also appear in the upcoming mini-series, The Unusual Suspects.

Vondie Curtis-Hall (Ben Urich)

Playing the part of Ben Urich, an investigative journalist at the New York Bulletin, Vondie Curtis-Hall brought us an interrogating character in Netflix's Daredevil. Outside of this role, Curtis-Hall is best recognized for CBS's Chicago Hope. He's also known for writing, directing, and starring in Gridlock'd. Additionally, Curtis-Hall directed Glitter. His other notable acting credits include Crooklyn, Clear and Present Danger, Falling Down, Broken Arrow, Eve's Bayou, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans, Come Sunday, Harriet, Turn It Up, Romeo + Juliet, Passion Fish, Die Hard 2, and Coming to America.

Recently, Vondie Curtis-Hall was part of the main cast for ABC's short-lived For the People. He was also in an episode of Evil. Next, the actor will appear in The Night House. He'll also soon be seen 18 1/2 and Residue.

Bob Gunton (Leland Owsley)

In the role of Leland Owsley, a key figure in Wilson Fisk's plans in Hell's Kitchen, Bob Gunton played an accountable character in Netflix's Daredevil. Outside of this part, Gunton can also be seen in The Shawshank Redemption, Argo, Demolition Man, Patch Adams, Desperate Housewives, The Perfect Storm, I Heart Huckabees, Boat Trip, Born on the Fourth of July, Unbroken: Path of Redemption, Buffalo Soldiers, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, JFK, and Patriot Games. He is also twice Tony-nominated for his work in Evita and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, respectively.

Most recently, Bob Gunton appeared in episodes of Elementary, Project Blue Book, and The Cool Kids. Next, the actor will be heard in the documentary, The Gettysburg Address.

Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa Marianna-Fisk)

As Vanessa Marianna-Fisk, an art gallery employee who eventually marries Wilson Fisk, Ayelet Zurer played a notable supporting character in Netflix's Daredevil. An award-winning actress for her performances in Nina's Tragedies and Israeli television drama Betipul, Zurer is also known for her appearances in Munich, Milada, Man of Steel, Angels & Demons, Adam Resurrected, Ben-Hur (2016), Hide Away, Darling Companion, Vantage Point, and Last Days in the Desert.

Starting this year, Ayelet Zurer will play a recurring role in Netflix's You. She was also recently seen in several episodes of Losing Alice.

Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple)

Playing the part of Claire Temple, a nurse who often helps Murdock, Rosario Dawson plays a mindful supporting character in Netflix's Daredevil. She also played this character in Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. Following his appearance in this show, Bernthal would go on to play the character in his own spin-off series, The Punisher, which ran for two seasons. Outside of these streaming shows, the actor is known for The Walking Dead, The Wolf of Wall Street, Fury, Baby Driver, Widows, The Accountant, Sicario, The Ghost Writer, Wind River, World Trade Center, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Show Me A Hero, and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.

Elodie Yung (Elektra Natchios)

As Elektra Natchios, a mysterious, deadly woman from Murdock's past, Elodie Yung was a notable new character in the second season of Daredevil. She also played Elektra in Netflix's The Defenders. Her other notable credits include Gods of Egypt, The Hitman's Bodyguard, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), District 13: Ultimatum, La vie devant nous, and Les Bleus.

Most recently, Elodie Yung appeared in Disney+'s Secret Society of Second-Born Royals. Next, the actress is expected to star in The Blue Mauritius and Hunters in the Dark.

In 2008, HBO introduced the world to more sexy vampires, but this time they weren’t bound by the same rules as most vampires. This series was True Blood. For seven seasons, the show focused on Sookie Stackhouse, a girl who could hear people’s thoughts. She resided in Bon Temps, a sort-of magical proposed Utopia where vampires, other creatures, and humans attempted to live together in harmony. Of course that didn’t happen.The series shot many of the True Blood cast to stardom, including Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, and Alexander Skarsgard.

True Blood developed a strong cult following, and received many accolades and praise from TV critics and fans. It’s been 12 years since the series aired, and six since it ended in 2014. The cast have been using the momentum and success of the series to propel their careers even further.

Let’s check in with some of the main and supporting True Blood cast to see what they’ve been up to since the series ended. Warning: This may contain minor spoilers about the True Blood plot. Don't read further if you don't regularly visit Fangtasia.

Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse)

Anna Paquin played Sookie Stackhouse, the faerie torn between two vampires, a shapeshifter, a vampire-faerie, and a wolf. At least, that's how True Blood was advertised, but most of the series really revolved around Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Sookie. It was a constant romance cycle until the very end.

After True Blood, Anna Paquin stayed very busy. In 2017, she appeared in a Canadian police mystery called Bellevue. That same year, Paquin played Nancy Montgomery in the miniseries Alias Grace. In 2019, she took on a major role in The Affair as Joanie Lockhart, the adult daughter of Cole (Joshua Jackson) and Alison (Ruth Wilson). Anna Paquin plays the lead in PopTV’s series Flack. Her character Robyn is an American publicist who represents scandalous celebrities in London. Paquin also had roles in The Irishman, Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur, and reprised her role as Rogue in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton)

Stephen Moyer played Sookie’s main love interest, vampire Bill on True Blood. Like many vampires, he struggled with his vampire instincts, ambition, lust, and many other dark addictions. He rose and lost power many times throughout the show.

In 2015, Moyer appeared in the series The Bastard Executioner, a historical fiction about a man who tries to leave his violent past behind, but that is harder than expected. The former True Blood actor also had a role in Concussion, the bio, sports drama that starred Will Smith. His next major role was in 2017 with Safe House, a British crime drama. He starred in Season 2. Also in 2017, Moyer took on a lead role in Fox's Marvel X-Men TV series The Gifted. Moyer appeared in that series until 2019. In 2020, he has a lead role in the Canadian espionage drama Fortunate Son.

Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman)

Eric Northman, Sookie’s other vampire love interest and the vampire sheriff of Bon Temps. He also owns Fangtasia with his trusted side-kick Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten).

Alexander Skarsgard appeared in a few movies after True Blood, including The Giver, The Diary of a Teenage Girl, Zoolander 2, The Legend of Tarzan, and Long Shot. His most known TV role following True Blood is as Perry in Big Little Lies. He won an Emmy award in 2017 for his portrayal as Perry. He’s also set to play Randall in the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand.

Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse)

Ryan Kwanten played Sookie’s sex driven, screw-up older brother, Jason on True Blood. Eventually Jason grows up a lot and becomes a police officer.

The Australian actor appeared in many films from 2014 to 2020, including Kidnapping Freddy Heineken, Who Gets the Dog?, Supercon, and up-coming Australian sci-fi film Loveland. In 2018, he began working alongside Sean Bean and Katrina Law in the Crackle series The Oath. In 2020, Kwanten plays Peter Wolfe in Season 2 of the Facebook Watch series Sacred Lies.

Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton)

Rutina Wesley played Sookie’s best friend Tara, who got dealt one of the worst hands on the show. They put Tara through a lot on True Blood, but she finally got some semblance of peace during the final season.

Rutina Wesley only appeared in a couple movies since True Blood ended: the horror movie 13 Sins, Last Weekend, and The Perfect Guy. She also appeared in episodes of Hannibal, Arrow, and The Walking Dead. In 2016, Wesley took on a starring role in the Ava DuVernay and Oprah Winfrey series Queen Sugar. The fifth season of the series is scheduled to premiere in 2020.

Sam Trammel (Sam Merlotte)

Sam Merlotte was a shapeshifter who also had a really hard time on the show. It all started so simple for Sam. He was just another magical being in love with Sookie, and she just didn’t reciprocate his feelings (at least in the show). Then things got really dark for Sam, but he found his happy ending by True Blood’s series finale.

Sam Trammel’s biggest roles since True Blood have been appearing in This is Us, The Order, Reckoning, the movie The Fault in Our Stars, and on the final season of Homeland.

Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica Hamby)

Jessica entered the scene as Bill’s sort-of vampire daughter. She grew into her own over the course of the series, being one of the main driving forces to save the vampires in the final two seasons. She eventually found love and happiness with Hoyt (Jim Parrack).

Deborah Ann Woll appeared in the horror film Escape Room. From 2015 to 2019 she played Karen Page in various Netflix Marvel shows: Daredevil, The Defenders, and The Punisher.

Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pam)

Pam was the sassy, no nonsense second in command to Eric. Pam often said what the viewers were thinking, so she easily became one of my favorite True Blood characters.

Kristin Bauer van Straten appeared in Nocturnal Animalsin 2016. The film was a psychological thriller starring Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Shannon, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. In 2018, she voiced Killer Frost in the DC film Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay. She also appeared in the Netflix movie Happy Anniversary. In 2020, she reunited with former True Blood co-star Ryan Kwanten in Sacred Lies, a Facebook Watch drama.

Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler)

Arlene was a minor character throughout True Blood, but she remained a consistent presence on the series from start to finish. She often acted as the comic relief, especially when dealing with her children.

Carrie Preston received an Emmy nomination in 2016 for her guest role on The Good Wife, a show she previously won an Emmy for in 2013. Carrie Preston has had a busy career after True Blood. She appeared in a series called Happyish in 2015. From 2010 to 2016, she had a recurring role on The Good Wife. She also had a recurring role on Person of Interest from 2012 to 2016. In 2017 to 2018, she reprised her role as Elsbeth Tascioni in The Good Wife spin-off The Good Fight. In 2017, she landed a lead role in Claws. A fourth and final season of Claws is expected to drop on TNT in 2020.

Joe Manganiello (Alcide Herveaux)

Alcide, the hot werewolf that almost made Sookie forget about dating those risky vampires.

Joe Manganiello blew up during his time on True Blood. In 2015, he reprised his role as Big Dick Richie in Magic Mike XXL. In 2017, he appeared as Deathstroke in Justice League. The next year he appeared in Dwayne Johnson’s Rampage. He also had a role in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. Sometime in the near future, he’s supposed to appear in the Netflix comedy The Sleepover, which co-stars Ken Marino, Alyssa Milano, and Malin Akerman. Joe Manganiello has also appeared in episodes of One Day at a Time, The Big Bang Theory, and Mom.

Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur)

Andy Bellefleur was the lovable sheriff, who was stubborn and pessimistic, and often hostile towards Jason. As the series goes on, Andy receives more depth and confidence in his abilities.

Chris Bauer played Detective Tom Lange during the first season of American Crime Story. From 2014 to 2017, he played a recurring character on the Starz series’ Survivor’s Remorse. Chris Bauer has also had roles on Law and Order True Crimes, The Deuce, and For All Mankind, and appeared in episodes of Homeland, FBI, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Anna Camp (Sarah Newlin)

Sarah Newlin along with husband Steve Newlin ( Michael McMillian) were televangelists who used religion as a weapon. She has a brief affair with Jason, and Steve becomes a vampire. Sarah becomes one of the main antagonists during the sixth and seventh season.

Anna Camp has a lead role in the Pitch Perfect film series. She also appeared in the shows The Good Wife, Good Girl Revolt, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Perfect Harmony. Camp appeared in the films Café Society, The Most Hated Woman in America, and the upcoming Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani movie The Lovebirds. Anna Camp co-stars with Steven Strait in a movie about terminal illness, Here Awhile, which is set for a June 9, 2020 video on demand release.

Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynolds)

Lafayette was Tara’s outspoken, scene-stealing cousin Lafayette. He was the most meme-able and memorable character on True Blood.

Nelsan Ellis had roles in the movies Little Boxes, Roxanne Roxanne, The Stanford Prison Experiment, and Get On Up. From 2016 to 2017, he played Shinwell Johnson on Elementary. Sadly and tragically Nelsan Ellis died in 2017 from congestive heart failure.

It’s been nearly two years since Netflix cancelled Marvel’s Daredevil, but Deborah Ann Woll, who played journalist Karen Page, is still struggling to find work as an actress. Her last official acting gig was co-starring in Daredevil spinoff The Punisher, and there have been slim pickings since. Ever the noble co-stars, both Vincent D’Onofrio and Jon Bernthal spoke out after Woll’s emotional confession regarding being out of work.

In recent days, Deborah Ann Woll opened up about the struggles she’s been facing after being out of a job for so long and how that’s impacted her confidence and sense of identity. She’s “not sure who I am” if she’s not acting, Woll admitted. It was a rather emotional confession and one that didn’t go unheard by her Daredevil co-star Vincent D’Onofrio, who played the series’ big bad, Wilson Fisk. Taking to Twitter, D’Onofrio reacted to Woll’s reveal. Here’s what he had to say:

Vincent D’Onofrio just proved himself to be an incredibly supportive co-star. There’s no doubt that Deborah Ann Woll is a talented actress and, per D’Onofrio, one of his “favorite scene partners” ever, which is a big deal. Woll made a big enough impression in the world of Marvel that she even appeared in a handful of episodes of The Punisher, which starred Jon Bernthal in the titular role. Having worked so closely with Woll on his spinoff and Daredevil, Bernthal replied to D’Onofrio’s original tweet with his own words of support. In his words:

These cast members clearly enjoyed working with each other and have Deborah Ann Woll’s back. Their collective message seems clear and, while everything’s in limbo right now due to all the production shutdowns, it’s high time that casting agents hired Woll for another project when it’s finally safe to do so. Not only has Deborah Ann Woll appeared throughout Netflix’s Marvel shows, but she played a key role in the acclaimed HBO series True Blood, further proving her impressive resume. That said, it’s hard to imagine that there’s nothing out there for her, so hopefully a new acting gig arises for her very soon.

The stars of Daredevil were left without the show they had starred on when Netflix cancelled the series back in late 2018. This, despite the superhero drama reportedly being one of Netflix’s top five shows at the time. Fast forward to 2020 and one of the show’s leads, Deborah Ann Woll, has gotten emotional in a new interview about not finding work since the series ended.

It is tough to understand why, but Deborah Ann Woll, who fantastically portrayed the intrepid Karen Page, has not had an acting gig since Daredevil got cancelled. Following the 2018 cancellation, Woll had opened up about her feelings surrounding the drama’s shocking end. Now, almost a year-and-a-half after Daredevil’s cancellation, Woll is sharing her feelings about not having an acting job since.

Deborah Ann Woll’s reveal seems to indicate that the credits she amassed in projects that were released after Daredevil and her stint on The Punisher’s last season, were filmed before either of the Marvel/Netflix series. Hence, Woll’s voice trembled as she told Marvel’s creative director, Joe Quesada, on Joe Q’s Mornin’ Warm Up:

It has understandably been a tough transition for the talented actress, and a personally confusing development considering her acting abilities. Following the end of HBO’s True Blood, Deborah Ann Woll made a pretty swift transition on the small screen, going from playing eternal teenager Jessica Hamby on the vampire drama, to a personal favorite as Karen on Daredevil. Why is she not being offering roles left and right?

Considering her sci-fi/fantasy and dramatic background, I could see her starring on Netflix’s The Witcher or dropping by to become Joe’s next obsession (or his undoing) on You. And, The Witcher has found a way to continue its casting process for Season 2, but it's just a thought. Whatever the reason for the drought, Deborah Ann Woll reflected on how her career post-Daredevil has impacted her on a personal level, saying:

Somebody, please cast Deborah Ann Woll! On a related note, please cast her in something opposite Punisher portrayer, Jon Bernthal. It would help take the sting out of the massive loss that has been not seeing Frank and Karen continue their chemistry-laden relationship on The Punisher (and Daredevil). I cannot be the only who wants an on screen reunion.

Jon Bernthal has indicated that he is ready for Frank Castle to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I would love it if Deborah Ann Woll ended up accompanying him on the silver screen as Karen Page. Of course, the MCU has to open its doors to their TV counterparts first.

Whatever the future holds for her, I hope more acting jobs are on their way for Deborah Ann Woll. Plenty of television and movies would be lucky to have her. I am just shocked they have gone this long without her.

Daredevil’s cancellation marked another casualty leading up to the ultimate end for all the Marvel shows' runs on Netflix, and others have since followed. The first Marvel series to debut on the streamer, Daredevil unfortunately got its plug pulled last November. Now that several months have passed since the cancellation news, star Deborah Ann Woll has opened up to share her feelings about it all, saying:

Yep, Deborah Ann Woll also shared a very pivotal piece of information alongside her feelings about Daredevil’s cancellation. Speaking with Comic Book Movie, she said she has heard no updates about the show getting revived by any other networks or studios. Adding to the prognosis, she says that she believes the chances of it happening are “pretty slim,” which many fans had already resigned to.

Her answer doesn't throw any hopeful fuel on the chances of a revival happening at Disney+ in the future. Or at least, not the Daredevil that Woll co-starred in opposite Charlie Cox. There could very well be a reboot of some kind, which typically involves recasting roles.

Even if a reboot happened, Disney+ or whatever other platform would have to wait a while. According to an earlier report, the characters in the Marvel/Netflix series cannot appear elsewhere for two years following their cancellation, per contractual stipulations. That delay would put reboot plans on ice until late 2020 at the earliest.

Thanks to the critical praise for what turned out to be Daredevil’s final season, Deborah Ann Woll has found a silver lining on the creative side of things. The high quality of Season 3 may have made many all the more shocked to see the show go, but Woll offered a bright-side look.

Is it better to have fans imagine what could have been? Maybe. Daredevil did go out on a tremendous high quality-wise, in my opinion. However, not knowing what would have become of Karen Page and Frank Castle’s enduring spark remains one of the bitter mysteries for The Punisher's cancellation that I hope will heal in time! As such, not knowing things is kind of a bummer.

Deborah Ann Woll also said she does not know the specifics of what was being planned for Season 4. Daredevil’s showrunner had pitched the fourth season before Netflix dropped the cancellation bomb, and Marvel execs were reportedly pleased with it. At this point, it seems unlikely that fans will ever get to see it brought to life.

Despite the Iron Fist and Luke Cage announcements that came before, Daredevil getting cancelled by Netflix still came as a shock to the series’ writers. It was the first Marvel series on the streaming giant and was seemingly a popular one. To that end, cast members Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox both invited fans to sign a petition to save Daredevil, which got a surprising amount of attention. The volume of signatures did not reverse the decision, unfortunately.

Since the cancellation, actor Charlie Cox, who played the titular hero has said he wanted to keep playing the superhero. He also revealed what he wanted to have seen in Season 4, but sadly, his wishes are in the same situation that ours are in.

The cast is moving on to new projects. So, while Daredevil may be over, their careers are continuing to flourish. Want to relive the magic? You still can. Daredevil and many more shows are currently streaming in its entirety on Netflix.

Few TV cancellations have stung as hard as Netflix's one-by-one takedown of its Marvel superhero series, including Daredevil, which got axed after its critically acclaimed third season. While we've likely spent our last moments with a majority of those shows' characters, Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page is one of few who's lucky enough to be returning to the small screen soon, as she was confirmed to be a part of The Punisher Season 2.

During The Punisher's Season 2 set visit in New York earlier this year, showrunner Steve Lightfoot spoke with CinemaBlend and other outlets, where he dropped the info-bomb that Deborah Ann Woll would be reprising her journalist role at least one more time on Netflix. In his words:

So there you have it, fans. We may not know exactly why Karen will pop back into Frank Castle's life for The Punisher's sophomore season, or how often we'll get to see her, but discovering she'll be there at all is a half a victory at least.

Considering the two shows' production schedules coincided, it sounds like The Punisher won't feature Woll quite as heavily as Daredevil did, so I'm hoping her scenes with Frank (and whoever else) are as interesting and emotionally coherent as possible. I suppose her return's true impact could possibly connect with where The Punisher Season 2 fits into the overall timeline of Netflix's Marvel series.

If Frank's latest adventures take place after Matt's recovery and subsequent fight to take down Wilson Fisk anew, then it can be presumed that Karen, Foggy and Matt are in good graces again, with their plan to take another crack at maintaining a legal firm. If that's the case, then she would be probably exude more positive and optimistic energy to oppose Frank's presumed dourness.

That may not be the case if The Punisher is set earlier, though, when Karen is still at a loss over Matt's fate, or if this series bypasses Daredevil storylines altogether. She and Frank are not exactly the most uplifting buddies, but they do fit well together. Daredevil's third season delivered a standalone episode that finally showcased some Karens darkest skeletons, including murdering her druggie boyfriend and accidentally killing her younger brother in a car accident. It's the kind of tortured existence Frank knows all too well.

Of all the Marvel TV characters that could have returned following the cancellations of Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, Karen obviously makes the most sense. She first bonded with Frank Castle back in Daredevil Season 2, where Jon Bernthal's vengeful military vet was first introduced. Deborah Ann Woll then later appeared in a few episodes of The Punisher's debut season, which sparked some fans to call for the characters to eventually get romantic.

That somewhat awkward request could possibly get rewarded in Season 2, now that we know Frank and Karen will likely be sharing some screen time. Of course, most fans are speculating that Netflix will be cancelling The Punisher soon after Season 2 debuts, so this will probably be Karen and Frank's last shot at making sparks fly. At least until someone makes a Karen Page spinoff.

The Punisher still doesn't have an announced release date set, though Netflix confirmed the action series will be premiering in January 2019, so stay tuned for more details on that front. And don't forget about everything else that's hitting the midseason TV schedule in the near future.

As one of the core characters of Daredevil and an integral part of the series' narrative, Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page has been through a lot. While she was just finding her footing in the Marvel series' first season, Season 2 saw her take flight as she found her purpose and started putting it to work. The thing is, Karen has outgrown Daredevil, and it is time for her to spread her wings after Season 3.

At the end of Daredevil's second season, it was clear that Karen had transcended past Matt Murdock, his impulsive judgments, and the show as a whole. By taking a prominent role in Frank Castle's legal defense and embarking on a career as a respected journalist, Karen had "found herself" by the finale, and she had shown signs of being capable of progressing even further. That is, if Karen could only escape Matt Murdock's sphere. Simply put, for Karen to be fully utilized in Netflix's corner of the MCU, she needs to move on.

Karen's romance with Matt, which is seemingly the biggest reason she's tethered to Daredevil, has included a lot of push and pull, with a slow simmer that never really sizzled. Matt treats Karen as a back-up and not an equal, and based on his behavior in Season 2, he also seems to see her as someone he can take or leave, and not as a valuable person with whom he sees himself sharing a future. For Karen to continue exploring a potential relationship with Matt would be a huge step back for the character, especially after she found such a strong sense of self-confidence in Season 2. Where romance is concerned, Karen deserves to be someone's partner, not their afterthought.

Which brings us to The Punisher. Let's face it: some of the most emotionally grounded moments in the first season of the Daredevil spinoff belonged to Frank and Karen, similar to how they stole the show in Season 2 of the flagship drama. The chemistry between the tragedy-afflicted characters is always evident, and the pull between them has never felt forced or contrived. Neither ample amounts of dialogue nor plot are needed to flesh out their scenes' unspoken context. It is an innate connection, which can't fully be said regarding Matt and Karen's dynamic.

In Karen and Frank, the second season of Daredevil found a storyline that felt organic. They were the highlight, so why not seize on this magic to its fullest potential by just shifting her to that series altogether? The Punisher seemed keenly aware of how powerful Karen and Frank's mystique was, hence her being brought on in the first place. Of course, giving viewers a little makes them want more. Or at least, it did for this viewer.

It is not only in the romance department that Karen and Frank thrive either. While that is a strong undercurrent, there is another powerful force at work. There is a personal growth they offer one another. Regardless of which show they're sharing time in, neither are the same after encountering each other, and it is this evolutionary aspect that draws the characters together on the page. Karen's curiosity and ambition are personality traits that make her a natural match for something outside of Daredevil, where Matt's inner conflicts take much of the story focus.

Karen's secret past and her understanding of revenge have yet to be entirely revealed, and Season 3 could unlock this ongoing mystery to both Matt and the audience. It is high time Daredevil provides answers on this front after two seasons of buildup, and Season 3 will hopefully provide the answers fans have been patiently waiting to get. If any of the new reveals are as intense as they have been teased, it stands to reason that the news could create the push that Karen needs to step away from Matt's corner of Hell's Kitchen.

Should Matt find out anything too disturbing about Karen's past, his reaction could create a permanent shift in their relationship. Not to mention a desire within Karen to withdraw from his presence, once and for all, perhaps even causing her to decide to hang out with The Punisher full-time. Or maybe Matt's own destructive behavior could be the great divider.

To reiterate, The Punisher is where Karen's character belongs, outside of her own series. Her investigative journalism and crazy-amazing dynamic with Frank would help spark the violent spinoff in a way that was missing in its initial outing when Karen was not present. It would make sense for her to be a driving force in the stories that Frank encounters in Season 2, since she could help him in ways that Matt would never appreciate her doing, and in ways he couldn't help himself. Because when all is said and done, Karen herself may very well be more of a punisher than a daredevil.

After all the critical success Daredevil Season 1 enjoyed in 2015, it was no wonder Marvel brought it back for a second season, and after almost a year of waiting, it arrived in mid-March of 2016 on Netflix. Just like in Season 1, Matt Murdock was still protecting Hell's Kitchen, but this time around, he also had to contend with the likes of Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher, and Elektra Natchios, his former lover, both of whom challenged him both physically and ideologically. As the season wore on, other players emerged from behind the proverbial curtain, but just like how he defeated Wilson Fisk at the end of Season 1, Matt emerged victorious at the end of Season 2, though it came with great sacrifice.

With several cliffhangers left behind, there's still a lot to be addressed for the third season. While we're still waiting until the show returns for another round of adventures for the Man Without Fear, there's still plenty we can deduce about where it might pick up following the events of Season 2. Here's everything we know so far about Daredevil Season 3.

What Will Daredevil Season 3 Be About?

No specific plot details for Daredevil Season 3 have been revealed yet, but the overall arc will be inspired by the Born Again comic book storyline. While the events won't unfold just like they did on the printed page, we can expect Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, to slowly dismantle our blind hero's life. Judging by the look on his face when we last saw him in Season 2, he knows or will learn that Matt Murdock and Daredevil are one and the same, making his revenge all the more brutal. Beyond Fisk, there's room to introduce other villains from Daredevil's rogues gallery, even if they're only in supporting capacities. But even with just months left until Season 3 premieres, we're still in the dark about exactly what Matt will face this time around.

When Will Daredevil Season 3 Air?

Netflix started releasing two Marvel shows per year, and that jumped to three in 2017 when The Punisher Season 1 arrived after Iron Fist Season 1 and The Defenders. 2018 brings a whopping four Marvel shows to the streaming platform, as Daredevil Season 3 will arrive on the heels of Jessica Jones Season 2, Luke Cage Season 2 and Iron Fist Season 2. No specific release date has been announced yet for Season 3, but assuming that Netflix doesn't want it following too close after Iron Fist nor release it too close to Christmas/New Year's, I'm guessing we'll see the next 13 episodes in late November or early December.

Matt Murdock

Daredevil was put through the ringer in Season 2, and not just physically by battling bad guys for days on end with multiple injuries and little sleep. Ideologically, he conflicted with Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher, and Elektra Natchios. Both pushed him to kill in the line of duty, with the former saying it was the only way to make a true difference against crime and the latter saying that he needed to welcome the darkness inside of him. While Matt Murdock never went so far as to take a life, he did throw himself even deeper into his vigilante life, so much so that he ruined his personal life. Nelson & Murdock collapsed, not only leaving him without a job, but his friendship with Foggy damaged. His focus on Elektra and The Hand also ruined his romantic relationship with Karen Page. By the end of the season, he was left to pick up the pieces of his life, and he started by revealing his secret identity to Karen.

Then came the events of The Defenders, where Matt had given up the vigilante life and seemed to be on amicable terms again with Foggy and Karen. Unfortunately for him, his life was thrown into disarray again when he crossed paths with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand, and despite his initial reluctance, Matt became Daredevil again so he could help combat The Hand. But what really threw him for a loop was discovering that his ex-love Elektra Natchios had been resurrected, and he tried his best to reason with her. In The Defenders' final episode, Matt stayed behind with Elektra as the explosives he and his allies had set in The Hand's building detonated, and the public believes Matt is dead. However, it was revealed that not only had Matt survived, he was being looked after by nuns, one of whom is named Maggie, a name familiar to longtime Daredevil comics fans. So, along with returning to his old life and having to deal with Wilson Fisk and whatever other enemies come his way, Matt might also finally be reunited with his estranged mother.

Karen Page

The majority of Karen Page's arc in Season 2 revolved around her connection to Frank Castle and learning about his background. She may not have agreed with all his methods, but she was sympathetic towards his cause. In the midst of her investigation, she joined the New York Bulletin, the same newspaper where her friend, Ben Urich, worked before he was killed, and presumably she'll still be working there when we see her again. Then there was her relationship with Matt, which crashed and burned after he blew her and Foggy off several times, and she later discovered Elektra staying over at his apartment.

Like most of the supporting characters connected to the Marvel Netflix heroes, Karen appeared in The Defenders, where she and Matt were back to being friendly with one another. A few months after that, she played an important supporting role on The Punisher. As for what's in store for Karen in Daredevil Season 3, that hasn't been revealed yet, although it will probably elaborate on her mysterious past, including her brother Kevin, who died in a car accident.

Foggy Nelson

Franklin "Foggy" Nelson may have originally wanted his law career to be all about having a fancy office and making a lot of money, but thanks to Matt Murdock's influence, he realized their talents were better used helping the underrepresented. The problem was that the firm was already barely skating by at the beginning of Season 2, but because they lost the Frank Castle case, Nelson & Murdock went belly-up. Luckily for Foggy, his performance during the case (especially the opening statement) was so impressive that he was hired by Jessica Jones' Jeri Hogarth to join her firm, and Matt agreed that he should take the job.

Foggy returned in The Defenders and made guest appearances in Jessica Jones Season 2 and Luke Cage Season 2. Given that Jeri Hogarth left to start her own law firm at the end of Jessica Jones Season 2, it's unclear if Foggy joined her or if he stayed put at the Chao and Benowitz firm. Either way, we can expect to see Foggy continuing his legal work in Daredevil Season 3, and, like Karen, he will be happy to learn that Matt is still alive.

Elektra Natchios

We saw in the Daredevil Season 2 flashbacks how Elektra Natchios tried to get Matt to embrace his dark side, and in the present day, she resumed that when she reentered his life to get his help in battling The Hand. Fortunately, by the end of the season, Matt turned the tables by showing Elektra that she didn't have to be manipulated into fighting this "war" between Stick's forces and The Hand. Instead, she could choose her own path. Unfortunately, not long after, Elektra followed in the footsteps of her comic book counterpart and was killed by one of her own sai.

However, one of the final scenes in the Season 2 finale showed that Elektra's body had been dug up by the remaining Hand members and placed inside a strange casket. Sure enough, like her comic book counterpart, she was resurrected after that. In The Defenders, Elektra was used as The Hand's chief assassin, but upon seeing Matt Murdock, she regained her memories, and rather than continue being used as a weapon, she killed Alexandra and assumed leadership of The Hand. Under her quick reign, she managed to trick Danny Rand into breaking down the barrier to the caverns holding the skeletons of dead dragons, which held the secrets to eternal life. But Elektra was defeated in the end, and she remained with Matt when the explosives went off. Since Matt survived, it's possible she did too, but there's been no word on if Elektra will appear in Daredevil Season 3.

The Hand

Despite being teased and featured in two seasons, there's still a lot we don't know about The Hand and their plans. They were desperate to obtain a "Black Sky," a human weapon that holds immense power and The Hand believes is destined to take over the group, and in Season 2, they rediscovered that in Elektra. Their plans for her went down the drain when she was killed in battle, but as mentioned in the last section, they weren't done with Elektra quite yet.

You can watch Iron Fist and The Defenders to learn more about The Hand, their leaders and what their endgame was, but as far as Daredevil is concerned, his time with them is over. Sadly, Matt's mentor Stick was killed by Elektra, but by the end of The Defenders, the organization was in shambles. As mentioned in the last section, it's possible Elektra could still be alive, but it's doubtful that any other surviving Hand operatives (if there are any) will be involved in Daredevil Season 3.

Wilson Fisk

Although many suspected Vincent D'Onofrio might reprise Wilson Fisk for Daredevil Season 2, it was nonetheless surprising to see how he was included in the middle episodes. When we left Fisk in the Season 1 finale, he'd been imprisoned for his crimes in the show's first 13 episodes. The Season 2 flashbacks charted how Fisk went to prison with only a finite amount of resources and no good standing among his fellow inmates, but within a year, he'd built up a decent-sized following. Thanks to Frank Castle's help, Fisk is now the new "kingpin" of the prison.

That's bad enough by itself, but it was made so much worse when Matt Murdock came there and threatened him for information about how Frank escaped prison. Enraged, Fisk slammed Matt's head into a table several times and swore that he and Foggy Nelson will pay for ruining his life. Fisk was still behind bars when Season 2 finished, and he'll likely still be there should he return in Daredevil Season 3. However, with the new power he now holds and his sights set on Matt and Foggy, it's inevitable that the Man Without Fear will have to tangle with his bald arch-nemesis again, especially if Fisk plans on targeting him both as a superhero and as a civilian.

Bullseye

One of the things that Daredevil Season 2 lacked was a clear-cut main antagonist. Yes, The Hand was eventually revealed, but not until around the halfway mark. Meanwhile, Punisher and Elektra were anti-heroes that tried to sway Matt towards taking a darker path. When Daredevil Season 3 comes around, Matt Murdock needs a single bad guy who can present a challenge to him both physically and mentally, over many episodes, and we recommend Bullseye be that bad guy. Since 1976, this assassin has made Matt Murdock's life hell in the comics (mainly by killing Elektra and Karen Page), and has cemented himself as one of the blind hero's greatest enemies. He doesn't have any super powers, but he makes up for that both through his martial arts skill and the ability to take any object and throw it with pinpoint accuracy as a lethal weapon.

He was previously played by Colin Farrell in the 2003 Daredevil movie, but that performance was extremely over the top. It was rumored at one point that Jason Statham might play him in Season 2, but that didn't end up happening. Fast-forward to now, it seems all but guaranteed that Bullseye will show up in Daredevil Season 3. There's still no word on who is playing the character, but one of the new cast members this season is Hart of Dixie's Wilson Bethel, and his character still hasn't been revealed. Perhaps he scored the Bullseye role? As for how he could be incorporated, Bullseye has often been employed as one of Kingpin's assassins, so it would be easy enough for Wilson Fisk to hire him in the MCU to kill Daredevil, and when his attempts to kill the Hell's Kitchen defender fail, he develops a personal grudge.

The Defenders

Ever since Marvel announced their Netflix programming in late 2013, we've known that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist would join forces in The Defenders miniseries. That team-up finally occurred in the summer of 2017, and Matt Murdock was arguably the most affected by the fallout.

Jessica Jones Season 2 barely alluded to what happened in The Defenders, whereas Luke Cage Season 2 dealt with the events of the miniseries more directly due to Misty Knight being outfitted with a bionic arm to replace the one sliced off by Bakuto, as well as Danny Rand and Colleen Wing making separate guest appearances. From what little has been revealed about Daredevil Season 3 so far, it appears that none of the other Marvel Netflix heroes will show up. That doesn't mean that Matt Murdock won't ever team up with one of his fellow heroes ever again, but as far as this season is concerned, he'll have to handle fighting the bad guys all on his own.

Other Characters

Along with Wilson Bethel, The Fosters' Jay Ali is the other new face who's been added to Daredevil's main cast in Season 3. He's playing Rahul "Ray" Nedeem, who is described as an "honest, but ambitious FBI agent willing to go to any length for his family." You can bet that a man like that is going to run into a certain blind vigilante. There will also be a few familiar faces making guest/recurring appearances this season, including Amy Rutberg as Marci Stahl, fellow lawyer and Foggy Nelson's ex-girlfriend; Danny Johnson as Benjamin Donovan, Wilson Fisk's unscrupulous attorney who also represented Mariah Dillard (and Bushmaster briefly) in Luke Cage; and Geoffrey Cantor as Mitchell Ellison, Karen Page's editor-in-chief at The New York Bulletin. Luke Cage fans will also recognize Annabella Sciorra as Rosalie Carbone, the crime lord who Luke went into business with at the end of the season.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an ever expanding place. In addition to the blockbusters that arrive every few months, there are also a plethora of small screen adventures, the best of which are produced on Netflix. And with The Defenders miniseries now in the rear view mirror, the time has come to look forward to the upcoming new seasons of the four original solo series. Perhaps none is as highly anticipated as Daredevil Season 3, especially after Matt Murdock's fate at the end of Defenders. Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page will return after her appearance on The Punisher, and the actress recently revealed where she'd like to see her character go in the third season of Daredevil.

It loos like Deborah Ann Woll is ready to get into some new territory for Karen Page, specifically the years before she eventually entered Matt and Foggy's lives in episode 1 of Daredevil. And the fans would likely agree.

Deborah Ann Woll's comments to Collider are sure to echo the concerns of Karen's many fans. While she's one of the leading characters of Daredevil, the series is still very much focused on Matt's journey as a vigilante. Karen has gotten robbed of a few great storylines throughout her tenure in the MCU, and it hasn't gone unnoticed. For instance, after killing a man in Season 1 and apparently suffering from some PTSD about the incident, it was literally never mentioned again.

The Season 2 finale of Daredevil ended with Matt revealing his secret identity to Karen, which seemed like a game changer for their personal dynamic, and the show in general. But when they returned for The Defenders, they seemed to have already moved passed the event, with Karen in her new job and the two former lovers getting along fairly well.

With these two potential opportunities passed up on, it would be great to see a greater focus on Karen Page and her history when Daredevil returns for its third season on Netflix. And if her past can also include the time she totally shot a guy to death, that would be even better. With the upcoming season being Karen's whopping fifth appearance on Netflix's Marvel universe, she's been around long enough to warrant some extra screen time.

And if there's a way for she and Foggy to become close to Matt's adventures as Daredevil, then that would be another great way for Season 3 to set itself apart from the previous two installments.

Alas, we'll have to wait until Season 3 of Daredevil arrives sometime this year. The next installment in the universe will be Season 2 of Jessica Jones on March 8, 2018. The latest Marvel series to hit Netflix was The Punisher, which took the universe away from superpowered heroes and mystical villains to a gritty story of violence and vengeance. Deborah Ann Woll reprised her Daredevil and The Defenders character of Karen Page for The Punisher, and although she wasn't quite the star of the series, she had a prominent role that made a big impact on the narrative. CinemaBlend's own Nick Venable was able to speak with Woll about her work in Netflix's Marvel universe; when asked about the potential for a Karen-centric spinoff down the road, she had this to say:

While Karen may not be one of the characters to put on a suit and take to the streets to fight crime with her fists, she's undeniably put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into fighting the good fight in New York City. The Punisher has proven that the Marvel shows on Netflix can stray from a typical superhero formula and cater to the strengths and weakness of the main character; could the same happen for Karen? Deborah Ann Woll is clearly on board with a potential spinoff, so long as it's handled well.

She does have a point that there's a large gap between an investigative journalist who uses her words to strike fear into the hearts of the corrupt and a fighter who can pummel the truth out of criminals, but perhaps a different kind of series would be a good thing for the Marvel shows on Netflix. With the exception of Iron Fist, the shows so far have been well-received, and Karen has been a significant part of both Daredevil and Defenders, although she was not quite in the spotlight as much in Defenders. A Karen-centric spinoff could mix things up in a good way.

Only time will tell. Stranger things have happened than a Marvel spinoff starring an unexpected character, and Karen showed some serious steel in her backbone in The Punisher. Even if she doesn't get a spinoff of her own at any point, we can probably count on more of her in future seasons of the other Marvel shows. Karen still has close ties to the folks on Daredevil, and her role in The Defenders gave her some connections to characters from Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones. Maybe she can lend her expertise as investigative journalist more and more frequently.

You can catch Deborah Ann Woll in action on Netflix in The Punisher, Daredevil, and Defenders. It's entirely possible that we'll see a romance between Karen and Frank at some point, which would certainly open the doors for some compelling and different stories. The Punisher finally debuted on Netflix earlier this month, rewarding viewers who have been waiting ever since the end of Daredevil Season 2 to see more of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle. He's not the only character who started out on Daredevil to play a major role in the series, however, as Deborah Ann Woll reprised her role as Karen Page from Seasons 1 and 2 of Daredevil as well as The Defenders. Sparks were flying between Frank and Karen despite some decidedly non-romantic circumstances, leading many fans to wonder if the two could hook up at some point. CinemaBlend TV Editor Nick Venable spoke to Deborah Ann Woll about a potential romance between Frank and Karen, and she had this to say:

Apparently, Deborah Ann Woll and Jon Bernthal tailored their performances to leave the door open for a possible romance in the future. The actors didn't have any say in which takes of their scenes would be used in the finished product, but they made sure there were options in which Karen and Frank were fanning the flames a little bit. Obviously there wasn't the chance for much romance in The Punisher; still, it seems that the show -- or perhaps one of the other Marvel Netflix shows -- could explore a romance between these characters.

Of course, Frank still has a lot of baggage when it comes to his wife. The Punisher revealed that their marriage was not quite as perfect as fans may have expected after the events of Daredevil Season 2, which raised the question of whether a will they/won't they dynamic between Karen and Frank would work. Deborah Ann Woll weighed in on this question:

While Karen is clearly aware of the strings still attached between Frank and his wife, she and Frank have forged a bond out of their own loneliness and relative isolation. They know each other quite well after everything they've gone through, but that may not be enough for a romance to work. There's definitely a lot of complication in their dynamic, which is a big part of what makes it so engaging to watch. We'll have to wait and see if that dynamic turns overtly romantic in future Marvel ventures on Netflix.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a crazy place, full of sorcerers, spider-powered teenagers, super-soldiers and billionaires who run around in high-tech suits. And that's what makes The Punisher's Frank Castle so interesting and unique: he has no special powers or abilities outside of his combat training and an insane pain tolerance. In fact, CinemaBlend's own Nick Venable recently chatted with Karen Page portrayer Deborah Ann Woll about Frank's lack of powers, and she admitted that she thinks it's fascinating to see an utterly vulnerable hero inhabiting this new Netflix series. Woll said:

The Punisher is an incredibly grounded (and violent) Marvel show, even by the standards of the Netflix-based Defenders series. Frank doesn't have unbreakable skin like Luke Cage keeping him safe, and he most certainly doesn't have the heightened senses of Daredevil. His story is arguably a superhero tale by the loosest definition of the terminology -- I mean, he's not exactly a 98-pound weakling -- and according to Deborah Ann Woll, the storytelling realism has allowed The Punisher to give viewers some of the most vulnerable Marvel characters to date -- both mentally and emotionally, as well as physically. For all intents and purposes, the show even plays out more like a war drama than anything else from the live-action superhero genre, and that's a refreshing change of pace for the MCU as a whole.

The Punisher's lack of superpowers also naturally lends itself to those little moments of humanity that Frank is able to show when he's not gutting criminals, particularly in the moments shared with Karen Page. (Their scenes were also some of the most emotionally driven bits in Daredevil Season 2.) Continuing her chat with CinemaBlend, Deborah Ann Woll also talked about how that ties to the vital role that Karen plays in Frank's life. Woll elaborated:

Before getting a chance to take part in his own dangerous and depressing narrative, Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle busted skulls in Hell's Kitchen during Daredevil Season 2, where he found an unexpected new friend in Karen Page. The two characters are crossing paths once again in Netflix's The Punisher, which is now available to stream in full. When CinemaBlend recently spoke with actress Deborah Ann Woll, I asked her about joining yet another Marvel series in such a big and important way, and here's what she told me.

I easily would have lost a bet with someone over how many Punisher episodes Karen appeared in, since she has such a presence in the story after first meeting back up with Frank in the early episodes. It's probably because of how prominently Karen features into the episodes (especially the time-shifting Episode 10), and that Deborah Ann Woll got quite a few scenes with characters that weren't Frank. I especially liked watching Karen play crafty when chatting it up with Billy Russo, and I wish that pair of actors had just a couple more scenes together.

In any case, Deborah Ann Woll agreed that it definitely felt like she got more time in The Punisher than she actually did, and said that her time on the set was very satisfying. Throughout the season, we got to watch Karen not only mixing it up with Frank, but also existing within her own element at the New York Bulletin. Viewers know her job played a pretty big role in the story, and in a way that felt very Zodiac Killer, which was not exactly a comparison I'd planned to make with Karen before having watched the season.

Since The Punisher sidestepped showcasing heroes with superpowers and the like, Karen was one of the only relevant characters that could have been used for a big crossover role, with none of the Defenders teammates being quite grounded in reality enough. As well, none of them comes close to having the same kind of emotional connection with Frank. (Rob Morgan's Turk also appears, I know, but he's hardly on the same level.) While describing how Karen's metaphorical disguise fits in with all the other characters, Deborah Ann Woll shared with me why she thinks Frank and Karen work so well together.

That's quite an interesting way to look at it, considering Karen started off being the good friend and potential love interest of Matt Murdock, who has basically never given Karen 100% in the honesty and transparency department. Granted, she at least now knows Matt is Daredevil, but that displaced trust is always going to be an issue. Although Frank and Karen have some pretty distressing situations in their shared history, too, at least Frank's honesty is as brutal as his plans for vengeance.

The Punisher is currently available to stream in full on Netflix, and it's worth every minute. Daredevil is taking a hiatus from his regular MCU adventures next year when he joins forces with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist during The Defenders. Once that team-up is concluded, Matt Murdock will snag the spotlight for himself again in Daredevil Season 3, and series star Charlie Cox already knows which villain he would like to appear. Cox has said several times how he wants Bullseye to be involved in Season 3, but unfortunately for him, his co-stars Deborah Ann Woll and Elodie Yung don't share his enthusiasm for that character.

While speaking at Wizard World in Pittsburgh (via Screen Geek), Cox reiterated how much he wants to see Bullseye appear in Daredevil Season 3, but also informed the crowd that Woll, who plays Karen Page, and Yung, who plays Elektra Natchios, aren't keen on the highly-accurate assassin participating. Cox explained:

Charlie Cox didn't delve further into the actresses' reasons for not wanting Bullseye to appear, although their co-star Elden Henson, who plays Foggy Nelson, joked that he's heard that Zach Galifinakis will be cast as the villain. However, it's easy to deduce what Cox meant when he brought up Deborah Ann Woll's "obvious reasons." In the comics, Bullseye killed Karen Page, which means if Bullseye shows up in Daredevil Season 3, her odds of biting the dust skyrocket significantly, though not 100% guaranteed. As for Elodie Yung, she may share similar sentiment since Bullseye killed Elektra in the comics as well. However, considering that (SPOILER) Elektra was killed by The Hand in the Daredevil Season 2 finale, one would think that following her resurrection in The Defenders, she wouldn't have to worry about being killed a second time.

Other than Kingpin, Bullseye is the biggest member of Daredevil's rogues gallery. One could even call him the Man Without Fear's arch-nemesis because of all the personal pain he's inflicted on the hero (and because Kingpin works on the side as a Spider-Man villain). That means it's extremely likely he'll be thrown into Daredevil at some point, and since Colin Farrell's Bullseye performance in the 2003 Daredevil movie earned mixed reviews, the antagonist could benefit from another shot at impressing viewers in live action.

No release date has been set for Daredevil Season 3 yet, though according to Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos, the earliest it could premiere is sometime in 2018. In the meantime, Matt Murdock and many of his supporting cast will return to the Netflix side of the MCU when The Defenders is released sometime in 2017.

When Marvel Studios and Netflix announced a deal back in late 2013, the idea was for the two companies to collaborate on five different shows: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders. That all changed after the second season of Daredevil, however. Jon Bernthal made such an incredible impression with his turn as Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher in those episodes that Marvel and Netflix have decided to add to their original plans by giving the beloved character his very own series.

Over the last few months, we've heard a number of announcements and rumors about The Punisher Netflix show, but because keeping all of that information together can be tricky, we're here to help. Below and on the following pages, we've gathered absolutely everything we know about the series so far, and collected all of it into one easy-to-read guide. Who is making The Punisher show? Who will star in it? What will it be about? Read on, and get all the answers you desire and more!

When Is The Punisher Release Date

The roll-out plan for Netflix's Marvel Studios shows has always been... complicated. Since launching Daredevil in 2015, the streaming service has had tremendous success with the brand, but been forced to make tough decisions about when to release the new season of an established show versus a brand new series. Because of this, the company has been hesitant to make big release date announcements -- which actually runs in contrast with the notorious flag-planting that Marvel Studios' film division has been practicing for years.

To get to the point, right now The Punisher doesn't have an official release date -- though it does look as though we could see the series come out some time in 2017, which would be a big deal. To date, we have never seen more than two Marvel Netflix shows come out in a calendar year, and it's already been announced that Iron Fist will come out in the first half -- specifically on March 17, 2017 -- and that The Defenders will be coming out in that 12 month stretch as well. That being said, The Punisher is already filming, which typically suggests that it is only months away from being in front of audiences. Because of the way things are run, it's possible that we won't have a Punisher release date until after The Defenders come out, so you'll have to be patient for a firm answer to this question.

What Is The Punisher Story?

Those of you who watched the aforementioned Daredevil Season 2 (which I assume is at least 90% of you), already got a taste of who Frank Castle is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Played by Jon Bernthal, Frank is an ex- Special Forces Marine who served his country in the Iraq War, and came home alive-but-weary to a loving family. This reunion didn't last long, however, as, one day after his return, a day of fun in Central Park turned into a bloody massacre, as his wife and two children were killed. Frank himself was left with a bullet in his head, but he survived, and after escaping machinations within the District Attorney's office to have him killed, he took to the streets a new man. Unable to just stand by as more innocent lives were taken by terrible people, he launched his own one-man war against crime in New York City and became The Punisher.

This just about catches you up to where things were left with the character the last time we saw him -- the controversial anti-hero donning his classic skull logo and stocking up on weapons -- but we don't really know much about what's going on with him in The Punisher show itself. As you'll learn as you continue to read this feature, we know some of the characters who Frank will be interacting with, but we don't really know what the plot of the series will be to connect them all together.

Who Is The Showrunner?

Writer/producer Steve Lightfoot has now been working in the film and television industry for more than a decade, but will be making his first venture into the world of comic book adaptations with his work on The Punisher. It's been officially confirmed that Lightfoot will not only be serving as the showrunner and executive producer on the series, but he is also going to be personally scripting the first two episodes and helping audiences dive head first into Frank Castle's world.

Admittedly Steve Lightfoot isn't a big household name, but his credits give audiences plenty of reason to be confident in what he'll be bringing to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He's most recently been working as a consulting producer and writer on the Netflix series Narcos, but before that he spent a few years of his life as one of the most active writers on Bryan Fuller's Hannibal. His work on that acclaimed horror series could suggest that while part of us roots for Frank Castle's vigilante ways in the Punisher show, we also may have to watch his bloody and violent actions from between our fingers (and in our nightmares).

The Punisher (Jon Bernthal)

Back in June 2015, it was simultaneously confirmed not only that Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher would be making his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that he would be played by former The Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal. The casting was immediately celebrated by fans, and anticipation for the incarnation immediately grew. And we were definitely not disappointed. Bernthal was the great highlight of Daredevil Season 2, which fully explains why Marvel decided to give the character his very own Netflix series.

We've already seen Frank Castle experience some seriously scary stuff as he launched his assault against the various crime families in Hell's Kitchen in early 2016 (including a brief stint in prison), but there is certainly a lot more pain and punishment on the way. Castle was quite effective using a small gun cache -- as well as meat hooks -- to take out mobsters in Daredevil Season 2, but thanks to his access to the collection of Colonel Ray Schoonover, he now basically has a fully stocked armory at his disposal. We don't really know what Frank will be going after in the first episodes of his own series, but we do know that his enemies are going to have to try and dodge a whole hell of a lot of bullets.

Billy Russo a.k.a. Jigsaw (Ben Barnes)

Created by the team of Len Wein and Ross Andru, Billy Russo a.k.a. Jigsaw has been the archenemy of Frank Castle's since the mid-1970s when the anti-hero was first introduced -- and so it's only fitting that the character would be featured in The Punisher's first television series. Fans have already seen one live-action adaptation of the character, brought to life as a pretty boy gangster by Dominic West in Lexi Alexander's Punisher: War Zone, but it sounds like Steve Lightfoot and his team will be altering the villain's history a bit for the Netflix show.

In October 2016, it was officially announced by Marvel that Ben Barnes will be playing Billy Russo in The Punisher series, but the character's description is very different from any version that fans have seen before. According to the press release, Russo will be Frank Castle's best friend from his days in Iraq as a Special Forces Marine -- and doesn't exactly return to New York to become a hitman for the mob. Instead, he runs a successful private military corporation called Anvil. Surely this company will be up to some crazy shady dealings that eventually reveal Billy Russo as a serious villain -- but we'll have to wait and see exactly how that all unfolds.

Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach)

As you might guess, Frank Castle isn't too big on making friends in his vigilante life as The Punisher. Not only does he clearly operate at maximum efficiency all by himself, but the truth is that most people don't really like being around a guy who technically qualifies as one of the most dangerous serial killers in human history. That being said, Frank has been known to have some friendly associates now and again in the comics, and one of those particularly useful associates is Micro.

Created by Klaus Janson and Mike Baron, and previously played by Wayne Knight in Punisher: War Zone, Micro in the comics is a hacker/weapons expert who has been known to keep Frank Castle traveling heavy with technology, arms and ammunition. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, the character will be slightly different. Played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach of Girls fame, Micro in this continuity is a former National Security Administration employee who feeds Frank the information that he needs to keep doing his dirty Punisher related business. We don't know exactly when or how he will be introduced in the Punisher series, but given that his connection to Frank is teased at the end of Daredevil Season 2, we assume that Micro will be a key part of the cast from the get-go.

Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah)

It just wouldn't be a proper Punisher story if Frank Castle wasn't being hunted by some kind of authority -- but in the Marvel Netflix series he will be drawing attention that's a bit more significant than from just a normal NYPD detective. Instead, Frank will be finding himself with a target on his back courtesy of Dinah Madani, a Homeland Security agent who will be played by Amber Rose Revah. Not much is known about the character's part on the show yet (notice a theme growing?), but she has been described in official literature as being "vexed by the Punisher."

Dinah Madani is a unique inclusion on this list, because she differs in a significant way from every other hero or villain mentioned: she isn't a character from the comics. Instead, Steve Lightfoot and his team apparently felt that the best way to go with the show was to introduce a brand new investigator whom fans have never seen before. As a result of this, we have no real expectations of what she will be doing in the Punisher show, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll)

As she is in the comics, Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page is primarily considered a Daredevil character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- but it looks as though she will be playing at least a small supporting role in the Punisher series as well. While absolutely nothing is known about the show's plot or how Karen could fold into it, the Woll was spotted on the set of the series during production, confirming that she will be appearing for at least one episode.

This isn't too surprising given that Karen Page and Frank Castle actually formed a tight bond in Daredevil Season 2. While most people were extremely quick to completely write off Castle as a total lunatic (which he kind of is), it was Karen who didn't judge a book by its cover and did some digging. She was the one who discovered the truth about what happened to Frank's family, and she was also the only one who really managed to earn the anti-hero's trust. After seeing their relationship to this point, it's really not much of a surprise that Karen would show up on The Punisher show.

The Defenders

In the same way that all of the Marvel Studios movies have been leading up to 2018's The Avengers: Infinity War, Netflix and Marvel announced a particular endgame when they revealed their partnership back in 2013. The idea then was that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage would first all get their own shows, and then they would all come together for a special event series called The Defenders. As mentioned earlier, that is still very much the plan, and it looks like we could see the show arrive on Netflix sometime next year... but what we don't know at all is how The Punisher might fold into it as well.

Thanks to the character's incredible popularity, Frank Castle is now a key member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Netflix, so we fully expect that he will be at the very least appearing in The Defenders - but right now that's just an assumption. It's worth noting that there is very little chance that the character would wind up joining the titular group -- mostly because the heroes would probably want nothing to do with him -- but he could certainly find a way to be helpful at some important moment, given that at the end of the day he is really trying to fight for the forces of good.

CIA Agent Rawlins Paul Schultze

Throughout its development, The Punisher series has left clues suggesting that part of the show will be dedicated to Frank Castle's ghosts coming back to haunt him -- and it seems like one of those will be the very much alive CIA Agent Rawlins. Set to be played by Nurse Jackie star Paul Schultze, Rawlins was a dirty agent dealing in drugs and other nefarious affairs in Afghanistan through Russian connections, and this brought him in direct conflict with Castle. One could see him winding up being one of the Punisher's more significant foes back in New York.

Curtis Hoyle (Jason R. Moore)

Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are very few people even aware that Frank Castle is still alive, but Curtis Hoyle will be one of those individuals, and play a significant role in the Punisher series. In the comics, Hoyle is a member of the Rockhouse Operation -- which is a drug ring -- but the official Marvel press release about the character described him as a friendly. On the show, he will be played by up-and-coming actor Jason R. Moore.

Sarah Lieberman (Jaime Ray Newman)

Micro is the kind of character you'd expect to be portrayed as a basement dwelling creep, but within this new adaptation he will actually be a married man. On The Punisher series, the character will have a wife in Mrs. Sarah Lieberman, who will be played by Bates Motel/Major Crimes actress Jaime Ray Newman. According to Marvel, Sarah isn't a big fan of her husband (real name David Lieberman) making deals and providing Frank Castle with what he needs to take out criminals.

Lewis Walcott (Daniel Webber)

Being a former soldier is obviously a very important part of Frank Castle's life -- having signed up for the military at the age of 18 (the day after September 11th) -- and that veteran status will surely connect him to Lewis Walcott. Lewis is a soldier who has just returned from war, but he is having a hard time adjusting to life away from the battlefield. We know he will be played by Daniel Webber in the series, the actor best known for playing Lee Harvey Oswald in Hulu's 11.22.63, but there aren't really any details available about the character beyond that.

Sam Stein (Michael Nathanson)

Earlier in this article we highlighted DHS Agent Dinah Madani, but now it's time for you to get to know the man that has her back. In The Punisher series, Michael Nathanson (The Knick) will be playing Agent Sam Stein. The two federal officers don't have the greatest relationship, but when the important time comes they'll surely find ways to overcome their differences. Stein isn't a character from the comics so we don't really have much background about him, but that information will come in time.

Daredevil deserves the credit for kicking off the Netflix branch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the origin story of Matt Murdock in Season 1. The highlight of Daredevil Season 2, however, has to be Frank Castle as the Punisher. Legions of fans responded positively to John Bernthal in the role, so the announcement that he'd be getting his own series as the Punisher didn't come as a huge surprise. Now, it looks like a major Daredevil star will be joining Bernthal on The Punisher. Deborah Ann Woll will evidently appear as Karen Page in The Punisher Season 1.

We only just learned the The Punisher may have started filming thanks to appearances proving Jon Bernthal was filming in New York City. We also knew he had unexpectedly cancelled convention appearances due to his Netflix schedule. Considering that The Punisher originally wasn't set to debut until after Iron Fist, The Defenders, Jessica Jones Season 2, and Daredevil Season 3, it was entirely possible that Bernthal was filming a cameo or two for other Netflix MCU series.

The apparent appearance of Deborah Ann Woll in at least one scene with Bernthal indicates that The Punisher might be much farther along than expected at this point. Surely the Netflix MCU wouldn't bring two heavy-hitters like Frank and Karen together in a throwaway scene. Going by the photos from Coming Soon, we can't say much more about the Frank/Karen reunion other than the facts that Frank has grown some epic facial hair and Karen isn't planning on running anywhere in her high heels. Luckily, we know a bit more about some of the other players who will turn up on The Punisher.

The comic character Micro will appear in The Punisher as a former NSA analyst with intel that could be valuable to the good guys as well as the bad guys. He'll be played by Girls actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Son of God alum Amber Rose Revah will play Homeland Security agent Dinah Madani, who isn't necessarily a big fan of Frank. We've now learned that Ben Barnes will be playing Frank's Special Forces friend Billy Russo, who may or may not end up becoming the comic villain known as Jigsaw. Presumably,Rosario Dawson will turn up in some capacity as Netflix MCU frequent flyer Claire Temple. There's no saying how large of a role Deborah Ann Woll will play in The Punisher, but Karen is joining a solid cast of characters.

Karen was in a unique position when she was last seen in the Netflix branch of the MCU. After spending Daredevil Season 2 dealing with Frank and being lied to by her friends, she finally learned that Matt is actually Daredevil. Maybe Punisher will give us a good look at how much her attitude toward vigilantism has or has not changed since the reveal that her pal/love interest fights crime in a mask.

As Nelson and Murdock’s “legal assistant who is seen doing more work than her bosses most of the time,” Karen Page is often portrayed as intelligent and adept at research, if a little unformed where emotional responses are in play. There are many viewers that think Karen’s lack of ignorance should make her far more cognizant of the blatant connection between Matt and the Man Without Fear, but actress Deborah Ann Woll has a perfectly good reason for why it’s okay for Karen to still be in the dark on Matt’s secret life.

What she’s saying here is that Karen has only come into contact with Daredevil on very few occasions, and they weren’t exactly the sort of interactions allowing time for her to sit down and study the costumed vigilante beneath a high-wattage light bulb. And when they first connected, she barely knew who Matt was in the first place, so there definitely wouldn’t have been any reason to jump to that conclusion then. Even though she’s getting closer to Matt in Season 2, that doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s also getting closer to Daredevil (even if it does actually mean that).

As well, no sane person would automatically assume that one of their closest friends or co-workers is the guy going around at night and putting his life on the line trying to stop all of the crime in the area. Especially when the guy is blind and not exactly the most aggressive person in public. Also, she probably wouldn’t think that someone as cool as Daredevil would be friends with Foggy, which is kind of half-right, considering how often Foggy likes to take friendship hiatuses.

The show even kind of sets it up for Karen to take Matt's lacking worth ethic and lack of dependability on going out and getting wasted and messing up his life. And her displeasure with him on certain fronts certainly doesn't make her more likely to guess that he's responsible for all the headline news in Hell's Kitchen.

Deborah Ann Woll also told IGN why her own habits as an actress keep her from thinking of Matt and his hero side as the same person.

Hell, Superman himself Henry Cavill put recognition of a superhero to a test recently and discovered that people don’t always recognize things even when they’re in plain sight. I’m sure most people are still saying, “Yeah, but not me. I would definitely recognize him.”

People like Frank Castle and Luke Cage don’t need to wear a mask when they’re out in the city getting their crimestopper on. So if Karen ever finds herself not recognizing them from one situation to the next, that's on her.

It looks like Daredevil may have found its female lead, and if this news turns out to be official, it's a great one. True Blood star Deborah Ann Woll has reportedly been cast in the role of Karen Page for Netflix's highly anticipated Daredevil series. In the comics, Karen Page is the main love interest to Matt Murdock, Daredevil's alter ego.

EW says their sources say Deborah Ann Woll will play the female lead in Daredevil, and that Karen Page will be "actively portrayed on screen," noting that she was only briefly glimpsed in the Daredevil movie. Here's a look at the character from the comics:

Fans of True Blood are likely well familiar with Deborah Ann Woll, who plays baby vampire Jessica in the HBO drama. Will Woll be dying her hair blonde for this part? Or is this Daredevil going to feature a redheaded Karen Page? That's just one more thing to speculate about the series. Regardless of hair color, Woll's a great addition to the cast and one more reason to be really excited about Netflix's new series.

Another reason is the involvement of Spartacus creator Steven DeKnight, who took over the Marvel project when Drew Goddard stepped down as showrunner and moved over Sony's Sinister Six. In addition to Spartacus, DeKnight is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel alum, which leaves us optimistic that he'll make good use of his female characters in this Daredevil series.

In True Blood, Woll has demonstrated strength and vulnerability, playing Jessica Hamby, a newly made vampire who hasn't entirely abandoned her good morals and character in exchange for immortality and an appetite for blood. Assuming this casting is locked down, it's going to be really exciting to see what she brings to the role of Karen Page.

Woll joins previously cast Charlie Cox, who's playing Daredevil, as well as Vincent D'Onofrio (playing Wilson Fisk), Rosario Dawson, and Elden Henson, who's set to play Murdock's close friend, Foggy Nelson.

This casting news comes as True Blood is amidst its final season. Daredevil is expected to arrive on Netflix sometime in 2015. In the meantime, those unfamiliar with Woll can check her out in one of Jessica's True Blood vlogs after the jump...

Activist E.J. Scott is slowly going blind. The 36-year-old, who is best known for dating True Blood’s sexy redhead, Deborah Ann Woll, recently started running marathons to raise awareness on choroideremia. That hard to pronounce term is actually an eye disease that will get worse over time, eventually leading to tunnel vision and, finally, blindness.

Since January of 2012, the man has been running marathons at the rate of one per month in order to raise money for the Choroideremia Research Foundation. Despite not being a true runner at heart, the man has 12 marathons in 12 states penciled in for this year. Scott recently told Men’s Fitness, that despite the challenges of racing and not always reaching his fundraiser goals, he plans to continue through at least December of 2012. It’s his family that keeps him steady.

Scott says he will be blind by age 50, which is why the need to train for a set of marathons seemed more pressing than ever when he came up with the idea some time ago. Over the years after he was diagnosed at the age of 27, the activist has had to quit working, give up his drivers license, and stay inside as often as possible. His girlfriend, Woll, says the marathons are a way to help the cause, but also to give him a reason to key working to achieve.

When life gets you down, it’s easy to call it quits, but Scott’s story proves there are alternatives beyond giving in to unfortunate luck. You can read more about Scott (and Woll’s) story in the November issue of Men’s Fitness.

Given the popularity of her character on True Blood, it's a wonder Deborah Ann Woll's feature career hasn't exploded in recent years. She's played a few movie roles and has some in the works, and she's done some guest-starring roles on other TV shows, but most probably associate her best as the kind-hearted but sometimes-troublemaking baby vampire Jessica on the HBO drama series. As mentioned, she does have a number of upcoming feature projects, which now include Are We Officially Dating?

Earlier this month, we shared word that Miles Teller was joining Zac Efron in Tom Gormican's romantic comedy Are We Officially Dating?. The film is based off a Black List script and follows three friends in New York who are each on the verge of falling in love when they make a pact to remain single. Deadline reported this week that Deborah Ann Woll is set to play the ex-wife to one of the trio.

No additional specifics on the nature of her role or how big a part it is were mentioned, but this is certainly a great bit of casting news. True Blood may fall into the drama category, as a vampire-series drenched in blood and melodrama, but Woll has proven her ability to handle humor well with her character Jessica. A role like this could really help her show off her sense of humor even more, especially if she isn't the friendliest ex-wife.

Among her feature credits, Woll appeared in Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' Ruby Sparks and is set to appear in Highland Park, Meet Me in Montenegro and Rosaline, not to mention the sixth season of True Blood, which is set to air next year on HBO.

It looks like Kiera Knightly and Lily Collins were both too busy to be in director Michael Sucsy's alternate take on Romeo and Juliet called Rosaline, as now offers are out to another actress.

According to Variety, True Blood star Deborah Ann Woll, True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld and Fright Night's Dave Franco have all been offered roles in Sucsy's new take to the classic Shakespeare play. While the deals are out, negotiations have not yet begun, as the project has not yet been given the greenlight. The movie is based on "When You Were Mine," the debut novel by Rebecca Serle, which won't actually be hitting bookshelves until next May. In the story, the protagonist, the titular Rosaline, is Romeo's first love, but was ditched after he met Juliet and they began their torrid love affair. Also interesting about the project is that it will be the opposite of Baz Luhrmann's 1996 Romeo + Juliet, as it will be set in 16th century Verona, but the actors will use modern parlance.

Should the deals go through, Woll would play Rosaline while Franco and Steinfeld would play Romeo and Juliet, respectively. Ignoring the age difference for a moment (Franco is 22 while Steinfeld is only 15), what makes this story really strange is that this isn't the only offer out for Steinfeld to play the bard's most famous female character. Back in April it was reported that the actress has signed on for an independent production set to be made by Italian director Carlo Carlie. One can imagine that this will end up affecting her decision whether or not to take the role.
