The Price is Right is one of the longest-running game shows, and arguably one of the best game shows of all time. So, obviously, people have strong takes about which game within the show is the best. While there are lots of ways contestants can take home money, there is an "easy" pick for this title. However, I love that the show's boss didn't go for it when revealing his favorite game.

The Price is Right has had some crazy game show moments, and it's always fun seeing how games turn out and what contestants win or don't win. While viewers probably have their own favorite game on the show, showrunner John Quinn told TV Insider his pick, and it’s not the most obvious choice:

Considering Plinko has been played on The Price is Right for years and is probably one of the most well-known games, it’s surprising but refreshing that Quinn didn’t say it. Rat Race, meanwhile, was introduced in 2010, and while it’s technically not new, I love that he went with a newer game. Plus, I adore that he gave a shoutout to a game that was created by host Drew Carey. I also appreciate that it sounds like it’s an entertaining event for everyone, not just the contestants.

Meanwhile, there have been a lot of games that have come and gone on The Price is Right throughout the show’s decades-long run. A handful of them have been retired, but quite a lot are still active as new games are created. On that note, Quinn revealed the game he wants to retire, more so because he’s still unsure how it works:

Quinn only started his stint as showrunner last year, but it seems like he’s been making his rounds in terms of testing the games. The Price is Right can be confusing at times, and it's funny that he’s confused by Check Game, which has been around since 1981. Of course, not every game is going to be easy to learn, but when it comes to The Price is Right, you kind of have to learn on the fly. It’s likely Quinn isn’t the only one confused by it, but luckily, that confusion looks to be ending soon, with it getting a bit of a touch-up.

At the very least, Quinn doesn’t have to play to win money, but that doesn’t mean he still can’t have fun while working on the games. It’s always entertaining to see what kind of games are played in each episode of The Price is Right because there are so many to choose from. For Quinn, like viewers and the contestants, he has his favorites and least favorites, and now I wish I had the chance to try my hand at them. If anything, fans can play along with The Price is Right, as it airs weekdays on CBS at 11 a.m. ET and streams the next day for those with a Paramount+ subscription.

Though I’ve long had a soft spot for Drew Carey’s brief role in the 2001 Royal Rumble, I recently started thinking about this whole situation more after listening to an episode of Something to Wrestle with Bruce Pritchard. During the episode, the longtime WWE executive, and man formerly known as Brother Love, opened up about Carey and his teamplayer attitude, saying the TV star was:

Earlier in the story, Pritchard talked about being impressed by Carey showing up with nothing more than a good attitude and gymbag. No demands, no entourage, no attitude. In fact, Pritchard said the actor insisted on being in the same dressing room as all the wrestlers and watched the event on a monitor backstage.

As Pritchard put it, Carey was “just a class act, all the way through.”

I Know People Crapped On Carey’s Rumble Appearance, But There’s No Denying He Wanted To Be There

There have been so many surprise Royal Rumble entrants over the years, and not all of them are as well-received as others. You can put Carey into that camp, as his brief stint in the 2001 Rumble wasn’t as great as some of those for returning superstars or debuts. Though it was very much a random and WTF moment, especially when he eliminated himself (more on that next), you can’t say Carey didn’t want to be there.

Even before hearing Pritchard’s comments about the decorated TV star, I felt that Carey, for a few brief minutes, was just one of the “boys” having fun in a wrestling ring. He had that big smile on his face when making his entrance and during the Hardy Boyz eliminating each other, and sold Kane’s presence moments later. Speaking of which…

The TV Star Did Everything He Was Supposed To Do, And He Excelled At It

The comedian didn’t enter the Rumble to win a shot at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 17, but he did what he was supposed to do and excelled at it. First, he gave WWE a chance to get more mainstream exposure in the wake of the event. Second, he gave the audience and viewers a wild and random moment. Third, he made Kane, who would go on to make it to the final two before being eliminated by Stone Cold Steve Austin, look like a beast.

Though he didn’t pull a Pete Rose and get physically assaulted by the Big Red Machine in the match, his decision to eliminate himself made Kane look like an even bigger threat. It made Kane look good, which made Stone Cold look good, and so on.

The Price Is Right is as much of a weekday morning staple as coffee and traffic, and is less intense on the nerves that both. The steadfast daily routine is a big reason why it’s been among TV’s best game shows for so many decades; there’s comfort in the predictable. However, a recent episode threw viewers for a loop when a contestant exited before spinning the Big Wheel, and the production has now shared and update on the situation.

In an episode that aired on Thursday, June 26 — available to stream with a Paramount+ subscription — The Price Is Right’s George Gray called for a contestant named Kathy to “Come on down!” for the second bidding round, and she ended up being the third contestant to take on a pricing game. She was quite adorable, too, in how excitedly shaken up she was to be standing up there with Drew Carey.

Kathy remained just as nervously jubilant throughout her game of Gridlock. (Or as Carey calls it, "1:34 on the 5.") She unfortunately didn't get all of the numbers in place to win a new car, which was disappointing for all to see.

Carey threw to commercial like usual, teasing the Big Wheel on the way, but whenever the ep returned from the ad break, the two hopefuls who preceded Kathy were the only ones waiting to spin. Carey quickly explained:

I'm sure other fans had to be thinking the same positive thoughts as Carey in hoping the best for Kathy, while also wondering what actually happened.

Price Is Right Shared Statement And Return Invite

Less than a week after Kathy's mysterious exit, a Price Is Right representative shared a statement with TV Insider that addressed the incident. While no specific cause or explanation was given for the prior appearance, it does appear that she's in good health and good spirits.

Part of the update is the reveal that Kathy is being welcomed back. Here's what was shared:

Hopefully being a "special" member of the audience guarantees Kathy a return to the Big Wheel, even if it means bending the rules a little for others. Go Kathy!

Drew Carey is showing no real signs of wanting to exit his role as The Price Is Right's host, and seems keen on letting the universe guide his future. Here's to the rest of that span going by without any other contestant emergencies cropping up.

As an avid viewer of The Price Is Right who has evaluated viable strategies for games and previously called out Drew Carey for one habit he has with contestants, I was excited to learn this informative tidbit, and am just as excited to pass it along. I wonder if this is one of those trade secrets Drew Carey has known, considering he intends to host the show forever, or if the late Bob Barker knew about this. Given at how consistently these balls fall in the exact pattern described, I would imagine they had to pick up on it, but then again, Plinko is a game you could probably host whilst daydreaming about what the showcase that day will be. I'd love to say this encouraged me to challenge the theory, and I binged old episodes with my Paramount+ subscription to see if it held water, but truthfully, this is just a handy strategy for an already easy game. Out of all the games one can play on The Price Is Right, I would say Plinko is one of the easiest to win a good deal of money on, provided you can get enough chips to maximize your cash.

Now, if this guy could get to work on how to beat "That's Too Much" I would be thrilled! I don't think there's any denying The Price Is Right is one of the best game shows of all time, but there is a wild difficulty spike on a contestant's experience depending on the game they have to play depending on the showcase. It's not exactly fair all the time, but then again, the game show never claimed to be.

Which is why I think it's entirely fair for fans to use any advantage they can get, including this Plinko strategy, to get an edge on the game show before they even get to step on stage. Not that I think Drew Carey is out to screw everyone out of money, and I've suspected he's often tried to help people win more often than not.

After all, The Price Is Right is at its best when people are winning, in my opinion. Sure, seeing someone fail tremendously at getting a correct answer will create a viral moment, but I ultimately live for seeing people get some extra money and occasionally a new car! That said, I've heard that most people end up not getting the car due to the rules requiring a tax to be paid before acquisition, so it does bum me out sometimes how excited people are when they win one.

You’d never really expect how many dark experiences Carey has endured by the way he generally presents professionally in Hollywood. It may be the self-deprecating-but-full-of-heart-Clevelander shell that molded him long ago or the support system that he’s surrounded himself with. Either way, as a fan, I’m glad to know he can still crack a joke or laugh his way out of anything.

Something that can be easy to forget about as we all enjoy the new episodes of television currently airing on the 2025 TV schedule is how important all of those guest starring roles are to the actors who play them. In fact, it’s not uncommon for actors to get their start by playing small parts on TV, and big stars from Jennifer Lopez to Timothèe Chalamet have done just that. Speaking of Chalamet, he was recently among the celebs who took a drink at the SAG Awards because of a before-fame appearance in the Law & Order franchise, but the also long-running NCIS has had its share of major talent guest-star, as well.

Which Celebs Should Take A Drink For Appearing On NCIS?

Before you ask why this has to be a drinking game, you should know that I’m just following the path set forth by the wonderful Keke Palmer. She presented at the SAG Awards in late February and announced that she’d come up with a drinking game for those in attendance, with her asking everyone to take a drink if they’d ever appeared on Law & Order.

Not only did Timothèe Chalamet respond by taking a swig, but so did Elle Fanning, new 2025 Oscar winner Zoe Saldaña and co-presenters Palmer and 2024 and 2025 Oscar nominee Colman Domingo.

As one might imagine, though, the NCIS franchise (which celebrated its 1,000th episode in April 2024) is also no slouch when it comes to snagging up and coming or established talent to fill its many guest starring roles. The OG series started in 2003 and has already spawned five spinoffs (with a sixth, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, premiering in the near-ish future), so there have been hundreds if not thousands of smaller parts to cast over the course of 22 years. And, a number of celebrities have filled the NCIS ranks, with some of them netting their part before they were famous.

For instance? Well, Twisters star Glen Powell stepped up to play a Marine in Season 10, Episodes 6 and 7. Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown appeared in the sixth episode of Season 12, while This Is Us and Paradise actor Sterling K. Brown had an important part in Season 11, Episode 10 in December 2013, and The Iron Claw lead Zac Efron showed up in the thirteenth episode of the third season, which aired mere days before High School Musical premiered and made him a superstar.

Other famous folk have also popped up on the franchise, including Lily Tomlin, Drew Carey, Jamie Lee Curtis and even Michelle Obama. So, all of this is to say that we can never discount the guest roles on our favorite shows, because you just never know who you might see.

When Carey took over in 2007, some fans were skeptical about whether he could fill the Barker's shoes after the latter had been synonymous with the show for decades. Just recently, Carey opened up about the lack of closure he had upon his former partner's death. Not only that, but he also talked about the ways in which he was able to heal after the situation.

The former Whose Line is it Anyway? shared his most recent sentiments on Amie Harwick while speaking with Us Weekly. Drew Carey didn't hold back when discussing just how close he still feels to Harwick and what a profound loss it’s been for him on multiple levels. While sharing his thoughts, he also revealed the contents of the final text he ever received from Harwick, which was sent to him the day before her death:

For the Geppetto actor to share such insights into his last interactions with his late partner is so courageous. I'd imagine it's not easy to talk about such subjects but he does so with incredible strength and grace. The 66-year-old then went on to discuss his lack of real closure, since he and his ex-lover were never able to meet because of what happened the following day:

On one hand, Drew Carey and his those who knew Amie Harwick did see a form of justice dished out after he death. Harwick's ex, Gareth Pursehouse, was sentenced to life in prison. Still, the situation irrevocably changed the lives of those who knew Harwick. During a previous interview, Carey talking about forgiving his ex-partner's murderer. Yet, sometimes, that may not always be enough for a person to heal. With that, the longtime host of the Price is Right also noted that something lovely happened at his ex's funeral:

It’s wonderful that all who were closest to Amie Harwick found solace in each other's company and that they helped hold each other during that difficult time in their lives. The Ohio native seems to have rounded the corner from utter heartbreak and devastation of his former fiancée's passing and gradually returning to brighter days. He's been a force for good by helping feed writers through the WGA strike and committing to other causes. All the while, he's continued to be a quality TV host with lofty Price is Right goals.

The ultimate improvisational comedy TV show would have to be Whose Line Is It Anyway? Originally created for British television and later adapted for the U.S. with host Drew Carey, the hit series, running from 1998 to 2006, had four quick-witted performers (including regulars Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie, and Ryan Stiles) play games that required them to make things up for meaningless points. During a game of "Greatest Hits," in which Wayne makes up songs from a compilation album based on Ryan and Colin's prompts, Ryan asks what bird call sounds like the name of the next artist on their CD set. Colin says an Arctic Tern and then squawks, "Backstreet Boys!" After erupting into laughter, Ryan reveals he was trying to set up Colin to say an owl because The Who is the band he wanted to bring up next.

Brad Struggles To Rhyme A Lady's Name During Song Styles

On a rare edition of "Song Styles" that sees Brad Sherwood going solo, The audience member chosen for him to sing about is named Neroshi. After Drew points out what a challenge it will be to rhyme with the woman's name, the phrases he invents include "suntan loshey" and "Pacific Oshey."

The Going Bald Hoedown

One of the best editions of "Hoedown" – a game reviled by the cast for challenging them to come up with a song on the spot – is inspired by an audience member's suggestion to sing about baldness. As one would expect, Brad and Drew both go after Colin with their verses but he gets them back with a turn that explains it is not his fault that he is "follically impaired" and that he has a better romantic life than either of them.

Ryan's Head Smashes A Neon Light During Party Quirks

During a game of "Party Quirks," among the prompts that party host Kathy Greenwood is tasked with guessing, Ryan has him play Carol Channing with the caveat that her head keeps getting stuck to things. At one point, he runs his head right into the square neon light in front of Drew's desk, causing pieces of glass to fall to the ground. Like a trooper, he stays in character while Drew tries to ensure that his friend and Drew Carey Show co-star is not injured from the accident.

Song Styles As The Village People

One of the most mistake-prone Whose Line Is It Anyway? segments is a Village People-style edition of "Song Styles," in which Wayne misspells the guest audience member's name as "H-O-R-W-A-R-D" instead of "H-O-W-A-R-D," a la "YMCA." Of course, things really take off into uproarious territory when Laura Hall's keyboard accidentally changes tempo to a ridiculous speed, completely derailing the song.

Drew Forgets The Rules Of Three-Headed Broadway Star

The point of "Three-Headed Broadway Star" is for each of the three performers to make up one word to a song at each turn. However, at one point during one of Drew's first times playing it, he takes a deep breath and sings, "And take me on a-" before catching himself. From then on, he is unable to stifle his laughter and makes another mistake by almost finishing a word for Wayne.

Narrate At A Fast Food Restaurant

This edition of a game that sees Ryan and Colin make up a scene from a fake film noir movie in an unlikely setting, complete with each performer expressing their inner thoughts to the camera, takes place at a fast food restaurant where Colin's character searches for the Maltese Burger. What cements the segment as a classic is the final moment when, after Colin's narration implies Ryan would do something weird and unexpected, Ryan plants a big kiss on his scene partner.

Drew's Flubbed African Chant Intro

When introducing one of the first editions of the game "African Chant," Drew mentioned that "Africa is a big country." This would prompt Greg Proops to laugh and say, "It's also a big continent if you're a geographer," and would lead to many more jokes at the host's expense.

News Flash With Clips Of Colin

The game "News Flash" would typically place Colin, playing a field reporter, in front of a green screen and tasked him with guessing the video playing behind him based on clues provided by two other performers as anchors. Drew Carey once said that the best edition of this game saw Colin acting out in front of clips of his funniest Whose Line Is It Anyway? moments, which he catches onto when Chip Esten mentions an "incredible shine."

Living Scenery With Richard Simmons

The object of "Living Scenery" is for two of the performers, usually Colin and Ryan, to treat two other co-stars like props for a scene and the absolute best involves special guest Richard Simmons. The exercise guru takes full advantage of his role, especially when he is meant to pose as a jetski but ends up simulating a lewd act with Colin that Ryan, Wayne, and Drew cannot help but laugh at.

Colin Dances With Wayne For Greatest Hits

During a sci-fi edition of "Greatest Hits," Colin announces that he is a part of the music video for a breakdancing song called "Asteroid Boogaloo" but does not take into account how out of breath he would be by the end of the performance. Still, after demands by Ryan and the audience, he agrees to also participate in an “incredibly fast jitterbug” song inspired by the Star Wars movies he calls, “Obi-wan Kenobi with a Flowing Brown Roby.”

Questionable Impressions At A Hospital

Some episodes of Whose Line Is It Anyway? saw the performers play a version of "Questions Only" called "Questionable Impressions," which required them to also impersonate a character or public figure in each turn. At the end of one edition set at a hospital, which sees Ryan going off the rails as Jerry Lewis and Wayne as Jimmy Durante, Drew jokes that the game will be retitled, "Hey, Let's All Make Idiots Out of Ourselves."

Gibberish And Meowing Derails Irish Drinking Song

Arguably the funniest edition of "Irish Drinking Song" was supposed to be about calling out the wrong name during an intimate moment. However, it never really gets to that point because Drew accidentally sings something indecipherable and unrhymable, prompting Ryan to sing pure gibberish at his turn. Audience Members Can't Make The Right Sound During Sound Effects

"Sound Effects" originally saw Colin act out a solo scene with Ryan providing the sound effects off camera but would evolve into a game for both performers with random audience members tasked with providing the audio. The funniest edition, featuring Colin and Ryan as cops, involved two female attendees struggling to make the appropriate sounds until they finally and successfully react to a prompt to make a sound like a duck. However, soon after, when they are prompted to make an elephant sound, they end up quacking again.

Colin Ribs Ryan For His Punny Segue During Greatest Hits

After Ryan tries to introduce a jitterbug song on "Greatest Hits" by joking that he has a "bug" making him feel "jittery," Colin gives him trouble for the lame segue with a few other elaborate puns. First, he likens seeing a strongman "bend a car" at the circus to Pat Benatar, then tells a story about sanitary paper for the Phillies that surrounded his bed, or "cot," when he was a jockey and realizes that "bed cot Phillie paper" sounds like "Red Hot Chili Peppers."

Robin Williams Questions His Participation In An Episode

On a special episode featuring Robin Williams, Drew reads a "Scenes from a Hat" prompt that says, "What Robin Williams is thinking right now." The Oscar winner takes the opportunity to answer, "I have a career. What am I doing?"

Colin Holds A Press Conference As The Queen Of England

"Press Conference" is a Whose Line Is It Anyway? guessing game in which the additional three performers play reporters subtly providing clues to Colin's identity. He has unwittingly played Santa announcing his retirement and Yogi Bear admitting he murdered Boo-Boo but perhaps the funniest prompt tasks Colin with guessing that he is Queen Elizabeth II, who is admitting to her affair with Ryan.

Wayne Performs A Death Match Between James Brown And Michael Jackson

"Weird Newscasters" is led by one normal lead anchor who introduces three other reporters with a strange quirk or identity. One time, Wayne was tasked with impersonating both Michael Jackson and James Brown as if pitted against each other in a fight to the death, with the Godfather of Soul coming out on top.

Helping Hands With Florence Henderson

Guest star Florence Henderson participates in a game of “Helping Hands” – in which Colin stands in for Ryan's arms – that becomes surprisingly introspective when the star of the classic sitcom, The Brady Bunch, reprises her role as Carol and berates her daughter, Jan (Ryan). It later goes a bit off the rails when Ryan's wig accidentally comes off and Henderson feeds him a mouthful of meatloaf and pie covered in ketchup.

The Office Edition Of If You Know What I Mean

"If You Know What I Mean" sees Colin, Brad, and Ryan as characters who speak almost purely in suggestive euphemisms. One of the funnier examples, set at an office building, ends with Colin seemingly inventing a completely mystifying phrase. After Brad asks if Colin can help him with his "enormous credenza," he replies, "I'll help you fluff your Garfield, if you know what I mean."

Colin And Ryan's Celluloid (Er, Cellulite) Solution

One of the funnier editions of the game "Infomercial," in which Colin and Ryan play TV salespeople pitching a miracle product, sees the duo using the various items at their disposal to imagine a cure for cellulite. What makes it such a memorably funny moment, however, is Ryan's repeated mispronunciation of the skin condition to sound like he is talking about celluloid, which is a synonym for film.

Colin's Many Hilarious Weird Newscasters Intros

Every time Colin has served as the lead anchor for the "Weird Newscasters" game, he opens with a ridiculous fake name, such as "Lars Lars Pantsonfars" or "Thor Buttockth." Then, he presents the top story, which is usually a brilliantly elaborate pun, such as one in which he announced that George W. Bush would join The Byrds as both guitarist and drummer, concluding that "a Bush in the band is worth two in the Byrds."

The 1930s Gangster Version Of The Millionaire Show

Each version of Whose Line Is It Anyway?'s "Millionaire Show" segment had a different theme. The funniest saw host Colin, game show participant Ryan, and lifelines Wayne and Karen Maruyama taking on personas reminiscent of an early 20th-century crime drama.

Colin Gets Up Close And Personal During Party Quirks

One of the most uproarious games of "Party Quirks" features Colin as a man who suspects Kathy Greenwood's party guests are not the gender they claim to be and intends to find the truth. He demonstrates this by boldly pushing a few boundaries and actually touches the other performers right where the evidence lies.

Drew And Wayne Speak "Canadian"

The game "Foreign Film Dub" typically sees Drew and another performer pretend to speak another language while Colin and Ryan provide the translations. One edition saw Drew and Wayne take on the non-existent language of Canadians, which they fake with a lot of "eh's" and hockey references.

Drew Imagines The World's Worst Priest Or Rabbi

The game "World's Worst" sees four performers, typically including Drew at the end of the show, taking turns acting out their ideas for the "world's worst" of a given topic, ranging from neighbors to people to share a lifeboat with. For the "Priest or Rabbi" edition, Drew had everyone in the room in stitches (and made himself snort) over his impersonation of Jerry Lewis if he were a rabbi.

Audience Member Does Not Take Hint To Move Tonto’s Head

In "Moving People," Colin and Ryan play mannequins who can only be moved by the two chosen audience members, one of which struggled to understand many prompts from Ryan in one edition. Ryan, as Tonto opposite Colin's Lone Ranger, dropped many hints for the audience member to simply move his head but did not follow through until the very end of the segment.

Colin Gives Up At A Scene To Rap

It was clear from all of Colin's verses in the "Scene to Rap" game that dropping rhymes is not among his many talents. Sometimes he would just stop mid-rap, such as in a version set at a park where he identifies himself as a "friendly mugger," demands various random objects, and finally just stops rapping, declares he is crazy and starts dancing.

Drew Wins Horseshoes During Props

In a game of "Props," Drew and Ryan are given a large foam object that resembles a horseshoe, which they use to reenact the popular lawn game with Ryan standing in as the stake. In one try, Drew throws the prop and lands it perfectly around Ryan's neck, scoring the points.

With 2024 winding down, I find myself waiting on the 2025 TV schedule and watching The Price Is Right 24/7 on Pluto TV a lot more. While I don't think it has made me any better at guessing the prices of various household items and new cars, I tend to notice some patterns from marathoning the daytime game show for long stretches. Specifically, I noticed something hilarious that Drew Carey does, and I have to call it out.

In addition to sharing a few strategies people should use if they go on The Price Is Right, I noticed a thing the host does that initially seemed pretty cruel. Now that I've seen it happen multiple times, however, I think I understand why it happens, and it makes me laugh several times an episode.

Drew Carey Does Something Hilarious When Contestants Lose On The Price Is Right

Drew Carey doesn't plan on retiring from The Price Is Right and wants to keep the hosting gig until he dies. It's a good thing, then, that he's so great in the role and people show up with shirts honoring him and his home state of Ohio in an attempt to get selected to play. Carey often notices this and will call attention to it, and generally you'll see him be very friendly to the contestants up until one certain point.

I can't help but notice that the minute a contestant loses on The Price Is Right, he completely ices them out and pretends as though they don't exist. Legitimately, he'll tell them something like "tough luck" and then step away from them with his back turned and just proceed to act as though they were never there. This often leaves the contestant staring and unsure of what to do until they're eventually left to find their way offstage. This happens several times in an episode and it only gets funnier to me every time.

Why Does Drew Carey Ignore Contestants After They Lose?

How could a man who fed his staff through the writers' strike come off so heartless on television? It's odd, especially when the previous host, Bob Barker, usually offered condolences to contestants upon losing. I can only speculate, but I think I know the reason, and it comes down more to logistics than anything.

The Price Is Right is a fast-moving show that has to have enough contestants to spin the wheel so they can compete in the final showcase. When someone loses, Drew Carey has to act fast and find the next person he can to spin the wheel for that Final Showcase. As fast as the show moves, there's not enough time to slow it all down to make someone feel better about losing. Carey's job is to keep the good vibes rolling, and he certainly thrives at that, which I appreciate. It doesn't make it any less hilarious when it happens, and I'll continue to chuckle while watching Pluto TV or newer episodes with my Paramount+ subscription.

The Price Is Right is on daily CBS and, as mentioned, can be found on Paramount+ and on its 24/7 channel on Pluto TV. I can't recommend marathoning the show enough, as it reminds me of taking a lazy sick day in grade school, except I don't feel sick.

The 2025 TV schedule will be awesome for many reasons, and The Price Is Right is one of them. The daily game show will celebrate its 10,000th episode next year, and the scores of new cars and other prizes it's given to contestants over the years. Many people every day have a chance to play the iconic game show, and as someone who has binged a lot of episodes on Pluto TV, I've picked up on the strategies that every prospective contestant should follow.

There are a lot of easy things to do to better your odds of winning on The Price Is Right, based on me watching the 24/7 channel on streaming. Follow these tips and you too may win a vacation to the Caribbean or even a new car! Just make sure you don't injure yourself celebrating too hard, and keep these rules in mind in case you ever hear your name followed by the iconic phrase "Come on down!"

Don't Be Afraid To Go A Dollar Over The Previous Bid

Too many people on The Price Is Right feel a sense of honor when they get on Contestants Row and feel like they have to give everyone a fair chance at winning the opening bid. I get it, and I can't deny I felt the people who bid just a dollar above the previous person were among the lowest of the low, especially if they ended up winning and getting a chance to play another game.

In truth, no one is going to care in the long run. Sure, the person you screwed over may never forget you, but they're just some random person you'll likely never interact with again. There are so many episodes of The Price Is Right that everyone watching will forget you and your name by the end of the final showcase. It's a rare feat to make it to Contestant's Row in the first place, so really, you're dishonoring the game not doing all you can to make it up to shake Drew's hand.

Try To Spin The Wheel Just Enough For One Full Rotation

I get the temptation to spin the wheel so hard you risk tearing it off its hinges. The adrenaline is pumping, the crowd is screaming, and the noise it makes is so satisfying. That said, I've noticed from all my time watching that those who spin the wheel as hard as they can on The Price Is Right have the least amount of success compared to those who barely get it around for a full rotation.

As announcer George Gray confirmed to CinemaBlend in back in 2022, spinning the wheel just enough for one full rotation is the way to go more often than not. If the contestant ensures they start at $1.00, then the odds of hitting it with just enough force are much higher than if not. This is probably the most important tip considering it's the last challenge before the final showcase, so remember it if nothing else!

If The First Showcase Bidder Feels Way Over On Their Bid, Try To Undershoot Your Guess More Than You Would

If you're bidding in the Final Showcase and can somehow be the second person to bid, I highly recommend it. It puts the pressure on the first person to bid on a variety of things, and if you get lucky, they'll either go well under what they should, or even bid way over. If a contestant feels their opponent went over, then undershooting the bid is the surefire strategy to win.

I say this because there is a rare, but entirely possible outcome of The Price Is Right I've only witnessed a few times that is a massive bummer for one of the best game shows of all time. It's possible for both contestants to overbid on the Final Showcase, and believe it or not, the show ends without anyone winning the grand prize. So, while the crowd may boo and hiss at such a low bid if you're feeling confident that the other person blew it, then it's the best route to go.

The Audience, More Often Than Not, Knows What They're Talking About

There are plenty of times when it's best to shut out the crowd in game shows, especially if you're answering a question in the latter stages of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? That said, in all the episodes I've watched, I find that more often than not, the audience is pretty helpful at getting contestants through at least the first couple of games.

They're so good, in fact, that at least once an episode, a contestant will look to the crowd for help before they spin the wheel. I bring this up because it's so hilarious when you catch on, since how can anyone in the crowd be of help in that specific instance? Even the crowd starts shouting as soon as they get ready to spin and now that I've seen it, I can't help but feel like I'm one of the few people who picks up on this collective moment of insanity.

Pay Attention To Drew Carey's Tone

I must start by saying that this advice is purely anecdotal, and I don't have any hard science or data behind it. Drew Carey is a professional who wants to keep hosting The Price Is Right until he dies, and I assume that he works for whatever is in the show's best interest. That said, I can't help but notice that he does a lot with his voice when he's playing the games, and to me, it seems like he's occasionally attempting to influence contestants to make a decision that he thinks will get them a win.

I'm not suggesting that Drew Carey knows the prices of games before they are played, but he's on The Price Is Right each and every day. At this point in his career, he has to know the general prices of certain items and the best strategies to tackle each game. If it seems like he's giving any advice, no matter how subtle, I would highly encourage that a contestant listen to him. After all, the show is at its best when people win, so I think he's doing his part to ensure that happens as often as possible.

Try To Show Up For A Primetime Or Holiday Taping

Again, there's no hard science behind this, but as someone who regularly covers the holiday specials and random episodes of The Price Is Right At Night, I can say that these seem to be the tapings people want to appear on to win prizes. Again, I don't want to say there's some type of conspiracy, but it does seem like the games are easier and people win a lot more on these episodes compared to the average episode that airs daily.

When you've been around as long as NCIS has, there are bound to be a ton of big stars who have made cameos or had early roles in their career on the show. Some of the biggest stars of today have popped up on the long-running CBS procedural. Here is a list of quite a few stars who have appeared on NCIS.

Millie Bobby Brown

Before Millie Bobby Brown hit the really big time as Eleven in Stranger Things, she was working steadily from a young age. One of her first roles on American television came in Episode 6 of Season 12 of NCIS back in 2014. She had only had a couple of roles before it. 

Glen Powell

Glen Powell has emerged as one of the biggest stars around. His first huge break came in Top Gun Maverick, and even though that made him an A-lister, he'd been a working actor for decades at that point, going back to roles he had as a kid. An early role in his adulthood came in Season 10 of NCIS, where he played a Marine in a double episode. 

Lily Tomlin

You just never knew who might show up on NCIS. In Season 9 viewers were treated to an appearance by the legendary Lily Tomlin. In true Tomlin style, she plays a quirky but capable grandmother to one of the team members, McGee (Sean Murray). 

Billy Dee Williams

If fans ever wondered why Gibbs (Mark Harmon) had the first name Jethro, they learned why in Season 10. In the episode, the great Billy Dee Williams plays Jethro Moore, a World War II hero, and Gibbs' father's best friend. Moore and the older Gibbs had had a falling out, but by the end, the younger Gibbs had smoothed everything out between them. 

Jamie Lee Curtis

Hollywood legend Jamie Lee Curtis had a bit more than just a cameo. On the show she played Dr. Samantha Ryan over five episodes towards the end of Season 9 plays a possible love interest for Gibbs, but alas it was not meant to be and she is forced to go into hiding, never to be heard from again on the show. 

Terry O'Quinn

In the early days of NCIS, there was another show about to make its network debut: Lost. It turns out that quite a few actors who became known for their roles on Lost also popped up on NCIS around the same time. One is none other than John Locke himself, Terry O'Quinn. O'Quinn plays a Marine Colonel in an episode in the show's first season. 

Danica McKellar

Danica McKellar is best known as Winnie Cooper in The Wonder Years. She also had a great, if somewhat brief, run in The West Wing as Will's sister. On NCIS, she appeared in the Season 2 episode called "Witness," as the titular witness of a crime. In the years since McKellar has found a home in made-for-TV Christmas movies and remains popular with her fans. 

Sean Astin

Sean Astin has carved out a pretty amazing career. His very first role, as Mikey in The Goonies, is one of the most beloved movie characters of all time. Plus he was in that little trilogy known as the Lord of the Rings, something he was nervous about. More recently, he was a key cast member of Stranger Things. In between, he was never not working, including a guest spot in Season 9 of NCIS. 

Taye Diggs

You could say that Taye Diggs got back to his roots in his guest appearance in Season 13. While Diggs plays a Marine on the show, he's a marine with the voice of an angel and at the end of the show, Diggs sings "Hallelujah" with the help of the real-life MusiCorps Wounded Warrior Band. Diggs, of course, got his start on Broadway in musicals like Carousel and Rent. 

Samantha Logan

Samantha Logan is best known for roles in Netflix's 12 Reasons Why and CW's All American, but before both of those roles she played the daughter of a character played by Taye Diggs on NCIS. Logan made her acting debut way back in 2009 when she was just 13 and had a small role in Gossip Girl. 

Bob Newhart

What can we say about the late, great Bob Newhart? His TV career is the stuff of legends with two massively popular shows that bore his name and for a younger generation, he'll always be Will Farrell's character's adoptive father in Elf. He also popped up in NCIS, playing a character very much in his wheelhouse. 

Jon Cryer

Jon Cryer started his career in some classic '80s movies like Pretty In Pink and Morgan Stewart's Coming Home. In the 2000s, he became a TV legend as one of the men in Two and a Half Men. He's since even played Lex Luthor, in the Supergirl TV show. Somehow he also found the time to pop into an episode of NCIS playing a battlefield doctor. 

Drew Carey

He started in stand-up. Then had a hit show named after himself. Then he became a superstar of daytime TV as the host of The Price is Right. Drew Carey has done it all, including showing up for one episode of NCIS as a retired marine. Carey was a marine in real life, so the role is actually perfect.  

Michelle Obama

Okay, okay so technically Michelle Obama isn't an actress, but she did show up in one episode of NCIS while she was First Lady of the United States. She played herself of course, there's no way she could be anyone but herself, right? She welcomed Gibbs and others to the White in an episode called "Homefront."

Abigail Breslin

As one of the youngest Oscar nominees ever, at age 10, you might think that Abigail Breslin just burst on the scene in Little Miss Sunshine. That's not the case though. Breslin was already a working actor with a bunch of credits on her resume, including a supporting role in one episode of NCIS in the Season 2 premiere. 

Sterling K. Brown

The Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning actor Sterling K. Brown was a veteran of prime-time TV long before his own show, This Is Us, made people cry every week. As he was coming up in Hollywood, he popped up on all kinds of network shows, including one episode of NCIS in 2013.

Dean Norris

Dean Norris is most famous for Breaking Bad, but he's been snagging roles for decades. One role was as a Marine in a very early episode of NCIS. In Episode 12 of Season 1, Norris plays a soldier with a past run-in with Gibbs when Gibbs was still an MP.

Zac Efron

Zac Efron became a huge star thanks to movies like High School Musical and Neighbors, but he was a child long before those movies exploded. One of his early roles came in a Season 3 episode of NCIS where he played a trouble-making kid that he was perfect for. 

Jesse Plemons

A quick glance at Jessie Plemons resume will show that the actor took the long road to fame. While he would eventually be leading men and key supporting characters in some of Hollywood's biggest movies, he started more humbly. One such example is his role as a teenager getting in trouble with the team at NCIS on the show. 

Colin Hanks

Tom Hanks is often called "America's Dad" and so that must make Colin Hanks our collective brother, right? Well, maybe not, but he is a great actor in his own right and he shows it in roles like the one he starred in on NCIS in two episodes at the end of Season 10. 

Sherilyn Fenn

As one of the breakout stars of Twin Peaks in the '90s, Sherilyn Fenn is no stranger to network TV. With over 100 credits to her name on IMDB, she's been on shows all over the dial over the last 30 years or so. One of those credits came in Season 1 of NCIS.

Josh Holloway

Josh Holloway's star shined the brightest when he starred as Sawyer in Lost starting in the fall of 2004. Just a few months before that, he played a local sheriff in Season 1 of NCIS. Since then, he's been a regular in shows like Yellowstone, Colony, and Intelligence. 

Frank Whaley

It's crazy to think that Frank Whaley's career goes all the way back to the '80s. IT's even crazier to realize he's over 60 years old now. The guy hasn't aged a day since Career Opportunities in 1991. Come to think of it, neither has his co-star in that movie, Jennifer Connelly. Connelly, however, hasn't been in an episode of NCIS and Whaley has, playing an escaped convict. 

Jim Rash

Jim Rash is most beloved for playing the hapless dean of the community college in Community, but he's been in tons of over shows. He's been in some quirky shows too, like a voice role in Mike Tyson's Mysteries and as a semi-regular on Reno 911!. He's a writer as well, co-writing the George Clooney movie The Descendants. He also found time to star in an episode of NCIS way back in it's first season. 

Julie Benz

Julie Benz's first big TV role was on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and later its spinoff Angel, playing Darla. Later she was a regular on Hawaii Five-O and Defiance. In Episode 22 of Season 1 of NCIS, Benz played the grieving wife of a soldier. 

Emilie De Ravin

It turns out that NCIS was a good place for cast members of Lost to star right before they all got super famous on the ABC show. Emilie de Ravin is one of those stars who appeared in a Season 1 episode of the show just like her fellow Lost cast members Josh Holloway and Terry O'Quinn. 

Bellamy Young

Before Bellamy Young became a regular on the hit show Scandal, she worked on a lot of shows on TV, including two early episodes of Law & Order, where she played two different roles, something it turns out a lot of actors did. Young played an undercover ATF agent in an episode in Season 1 of NCIS.

Daphne Zuniga

For anyone who grew up in the 1980s, Daphne Zuniga will always be Princess Vesper in Mel Brooks' classic Space Balls and Alison in The Sure Thing alongside John Cusack. In the 2020s she was still turning in great performances, like that of a Navy commander with very questionable motives in a Season 17 episode of NCIS.

Zoe Perry

In The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon's mother was played by the great Laurie Metcalfe. When the spinoff Young Shelton hit the airwaves. Zoe Perry took over the role and played it perfectly. She had a lot of experience at that point, including a guest spot as a police officer in two episodes of NCIS during the show's 13th season.

Ray Wise

Ray Wise is one of the great character actors of his generation. He's most famous for playing Leland Palmer, the father-turned-murderer in Twin Peaks, but his career stretches back to the 1960s. On NCIS he plays the father of a guy who thinks he's a superhero, which as you can imagine, he has no patience for in Episode 15 of Season 9. 

Tyler Ritter

Actor Tyler Ritter, who is the son of the beloved John Ritter, seems to pop up all over the place. He's played a detective in Arrow, he was in Homecoming, and he played  Abby Sciuto's (Pauley Perrette) brother Luca in an NCIS crossover event with NCIS: New Orleans when the spinoff began. 

Don Lake

You might not know his name, but you know his face, especially if you are a fan of the Christopher Quest-verse. Don Lake was a cast member in Waiting for Guffman, Best In Show, A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, and even Mascots. Usually, he plays the straight man, but that doesn't mean he's not hilarious. Even in serious roles, like his in a Season 17 episode of NCIS, you can't help but crack a smile when he's on screen. 

Hollywood has a long history with the military. During World War II many actors and directors served and aided in the war effort in different ways. It goes way beyond that, however. Here is a list of actors who have served in the military, either in the US or in other countries. 

Drew Carey

Funnyman Drew Carey is not someone you expect would be a marine, but that's exactly what he was before making it big on television. The Price Is Right host served six years as a field radio operator in the Marine Reserves in his home state of Ohio after dropping out of college. You have to imagine being a radio operator would be a good experience for talking into a microphone, right?

Bea Arthur

During World War II, an entire generation of men were expected to do their part in the war effort. Women, on the other hand, were not expected to join the service. Bea Arthur thought differently and enlisted in the Marines. Of course, the world being what it was at the time, meant she served stateside, doing jobs like typing and later working in the motor pool. 

Jamie Farr

Though he is most famous for playing a corporal in MASH who did all he could to undermine the authority of his superiors, Jamie Farr served with distinction in the 1950s after being drafted in 1957. He was already in show business at the time, so much of his work involved USO shows. 

Mel Brooks

EGOT winner Mel Brooks served in the US Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He joined almost straight out of high school in 1943 and was sent to Europe at the end of '44. He was honorably discharged in '46 and embarked on one of the most legendary careers of all time. 

Adam Driver

Like many in his generation, Adam Driver was inspired to join the military in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in 2001. Shortly after the attack, Driver signed up for the Marine Corps. The Star Wars actor is very proud of his service, though it was cut short after he injured himself off-duty and was medically discharged due to his injury. 

Robert Duvall

One of Robert Duvall's most famous roles was as the psychopathic Colonel Kilgore who loved the smell of napalm in the morning in 1978's Apocalypse Now. He probably drew on his experience in the United States Army, where he served for a year in the 1950s, just after the Korean War. 

Don Knotts

Don Knotts might be most famous for goofballs on The Andy Griffith Show and Three's Company, but his time in the army was anything but goofy. Knotts served three years in the army during World War II and earned a slew of medals for his service in the Pacific theater. After the war, he embarked on what would become a legendary career in Hollywood. 

Morgan Freeman

It took a long time for Morgan Freeman to get famous, but once he did, he's been an ever-present voice in everyone's head. After high school Freeman enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served for four years in the 1950s. After leaving the service, he moved to LA and got into acting, though it would really be another couple of decades of hard work before he found fame. 

Paul Newman

Few actors define "movie star" like Paul Newman. As one of the biggest stars of his generation, he is beloved for all of his roles over the years. Before heading to Hollywood, Newman served in the Navy during the Second World War, mostly on the aircraft carrier Bunker Hill. 

Richard Pryor

Comedy legend Richard Pryor made his business to ruffle feathers whenever and wherever he could. That includes during the two years he served in the army in the late 1950s. According to The New Yorker, he spent much of those two years incarcerated in a military jail after he and other soldiers stabbed a white soldier for a racial incident. 

Rob Riggle

Comedian Rob Riggle is one of the most dedicated Marines in Hollywood history. He joined in 1990 and served overseas multiple times throughout his 23-year career, including his time in the reserves. While most stints in the military were only a few years for the people on this list, Riggle served well enough and long enough to retire as a lieutenant colonel.

Jennifer Marshall

Jennifer Marshall might not be a household name yet, but fans of Stranger Things, know her as Max's mom Susan. Before becoming an actress, Marshall served five years in the Navy, including on the USS Theodore Roosevelt during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Jimmy Stewart

Jimmy Stewart was already one of the biggest stars in the world, having won an Oscar for The Philadelphia Story before he joined the army after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. Unlike some actors like Ronald Reagan, Stewart was in the thick of the fighting as a member of the Army Air Force and was well-decorated for it, including winning the Distinguished Flying Cross. He remained in the reserves until well after the war, retiring in 1968 with the rank of brigadier general. 

Ice-T

Ice-T is not only an actor but one of the pioneers of hip-hop. He first got interested in music in the late '70s, while serving in the army. His time in the army wasn't exactly filled with glory, however. He was charged with theft while serving and eventually was found in dereliction of duty as a result. He cut his time short because he was already a single father and was honorably discharged in 1979. 

Gal Gadot

In Israel, most citizens are required to serve in the Israeli Defense Force and Gal Gadot was no different when she was drafted at age 20. She served her mandatory two years in the army as a combat fitness instructor. She was famously part of a Maxim Magazine spread of female Israeli soldiers during her time in the service before trying her hand at acting and landing her breakthrough role in Fast & Furious. 

Bob Ross

Famous for his calm demeanor and his big hair (a hairstyle he came to hate), Bob Ross doesn't seem like the military type. For most people, Ross is all about vegging out and destressing while watching him paint like magic on TV. Before all that though, he was a master sergeant in the Air Force. 

Robin Quivers

Robin Quivers is most famous for being Howard Stern's sidekick on his notorious radio show and co-starring with him in Private Parts, but long before she became a key part of Stern's team, she was an officer in the Air Force. She joined after college in 1975 and eventually rose to the rank of captain before leaving the military and starting her radio career. 

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Like a few actors, Arnold Schwarzenegger's time in the army was somewhat undistinguished. He, of course, served in his native Austria, which required one year of service from all young men. During his time, he was already a rising star in the bodybuilding world and he even went AWOL to compete. After he was discharged, he entered his first Mr. Universe competition, placing second, and the rest is history. 

Sean Connery

Though he just missed World War II, Sean Connery joined the Royal Navy in 1946 at just age 16. No, he didn't serve on a submarine, and the James Bond star wasn't a spy. His time in the service was somewhat short-lived as he was discharged for a medical issue less than three years later. He remained proud of his service for the rest of his life, however. 

Caitlin Bassett

Quantum Leap star Caitlin Bassett is a rarity in Hollywood, a female combat veteran. Bassett served for seven years in the army, including three overseas deployments to Afghanistan before being honorably discharged in 2017 and embarking on her acting career. 

Gene Hackman

Hollywood legend Gene Hackman enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1947 at just age 16. He served for almost five years as a radio operator, including for a year in China. After he was honorably discharged, he went to college and finally at age 30 started acting. it was a long road, but Hackman couldn't have imagined the success he'd find as one of the most beloved actors of his generation. 

Tom Selleck

Tom Selleck served for six years in the California Army National Guard during the height of the Vietnam War. By serving in the National Guard, it meant he didn't end up going overseas to fight, but that should diminish his service. The Blue Bloods star began his career with bit parts on TV shows and in commercials while serving, though it was years before he famously had to turn down the role of Indiana Jones. 

Marlene Dietrich

Though she never formally served in the armed services, we could not make this list without Marlene Dietrich's fascinating story. The German-born actress renounced her German citizenship in 1939 when World War II began and she worked vigorously for the USO during the war years, supporting American GIs. Later in the war, she was recruited by the OSS to record songs used for propaganda against German soldiers. After the war, Dietrich was awarded the Medal Of Freedom for her service. 

Gregory Gadson

Battleship star Gregory Gadson is more famous for his service than his acting, which is unique on this list. Gadson is a West Point graduate who was injured by a roadside bomb in Iraq in 2007. He lost both legs but learned to walk again using cutting-edge prosthetics and later, incorporating his injury into his character in Battleship. 

James Doohan

Star Trek legend James Doohan served bravely with the Canadian army during World War II and participated in the Normandy invasion on D-Day in 1944. He collected a number of medals for bravery during his time in the war and was even shot six times in the battle on Juno Beach on that fateful day. He later flew planes during the war as well. 

Charles Bronson

One of Charles Bronson's most beloved roles is that of an officer in one of the best war movies ever, The Great Escape. Though he was Polish in the movie, he served in the US Army Air Force during World War II as a gunner on a bomber. He served with distinction, flying on 25 missions in the Pacific during the war and earning a Purple Heart. 

Kris Kristofferson

As a singer-songwriter and actor, Kris Kristofferson has usually been connected to the counterculture, but it wasn't always that way. Kristofferson grew up an army brat and despite being a Rhodes scholar in college, he was pressured by his proud military family to join the service. He was commissioned as an officer and served in Germany after completing Ranger training. He left the army in '65 and moved to Nashville, and the rest is history.

Mark Valley

Fox's Human Target was a short-lived, underrated TV show with an all-star that included  Chi McBride, Jackie Earle Haley, Indira Varma, and Janet Montgomery. It was led by Mark Valley, who played Christopher Chance, based on a DC comic character from a book also called Human Target. Valley himself is a graduate of West Point who saw combat in the first Gulf War.  

Jake McLaughlin

One of the more interesting stories on this list belongs to Quantico star Jake McLaughlin. McLaughlin joined the army after high school and served in the Iraq war, seeing combat in the earliest days of the invasion. After getting out, he worked a few odd jobs before landing a role in In the Valley of Elah. From there, he's never looked back, landing roles in multiple TV shows and movies. 

Jesse Ventura

While Jesse Ventura, star of the wrestling squared circle and movies like Predator, never saw combat in Vietnam, he did have an impressive service career. He completed BUD/S school, which is SEAL training, and served as part of an Underwater Demolition Team, the predecessors to the SEALs. Later he would become a politician and a member of the WWE Hall of Fame. 

J.W. Cortés

Fans of the Fox Batman prequel show Gotham will recognize J.W. Cortés as Detective Carlos Alvarez, who works with Jim Gordon in the Gotham PD. Cortés served for 13 years in the Marine Corps, including during Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

Remi Adeleke

2023's Plane is somewhat under-appreciated because it's a great action flick. Part of what makes it great is the breakout performance from Remi Adeleke. Adeleke plays part of a private military unit charged with rescuing passengers in a disabled plane stuck in the Philippines. Adeleke plays the part well because, well, he's a former SEAL in real life. 

Drew Carey doesn't see his time performing hosting duties for The Price Is Right to end any time soon. The comedian/actor has been a part of the much-beloved game show since 2007, and he has found a niche for himself following in the footsteps of the legendary Bob Barker. In fact, if it's up to him, Carey wants to continue being the face of the CBS program until his heart stops pumping and his brain ceases.

One perhaps would not blame Drew Carey if he were to say that his time as the host of The Price Is Right is numbered, as doing anything for the better part of two decades is an impressive run, but the reality is that the opposite is true. TV Insider recently asked him how he feels about being the longest-serving game show host currently on air (with Pat Sajak having recently retired from Wheel Of Fortune), and Carey offered his career goal as part of his response:

As noted by Drew Carey, Bob Barker hosted The Price Is Right for 35 years and Pat Sajak hosted Wheel Of Fortune for 41 seasons, so he has a long way to go before he catches up to both of them. Carey is now 66 years old, so he'll have to be hosting when he's 83 to catch up to Barker and 89 to catch up to Sajak. Coincidentally, Barker retired at 83 (though Sajak is only 77).

Drew Carey was asked if his declaration meant that he never planned to retire, and he explained how his perspective on the job has changed over the years (seemingly ending with a joke to aid future contract negotiations). Said Carey,

If your personal dream is to host The Price Is Right, you may want to put that dream on ice for a bit, as it doesn't seem like Drew Carey is going anywhere for a while.

Just because Pat Sajak bid farewell to fans of Wheel of Fortune in early June, that doesn’t mean all the other game shows out there are slowing down at all. To the contrary, The Price Is Right is wowing audiences left and right, as the producers seem to have tapped into the upper echelon of contestant casting, as less than a week after the long-running hit’s epic showcase showdown highlight, host Drew Carey was stunned anew by a contestant totally dominating the Dice Game.

As one of the best game shows of all time, The Price Is Right has undeniably dished out a ton of wow-worthy highlights, from that accidental car giveaway to the touching Bob Barker tribute and beyond. But rarely have two all-timer appearances happened in such short order, as Carey can certainly attest. Check out the wowzers Dice Game win shown in the clip below.

Would anyone out there be surprised if the first thing Devon did with his new car was drive to the nearest casino to test whether his dice skills worked on a normal-sized die, or if it was limited to just oversized versions? Presumably while booking a hotel in Las Vegas on his phone.

For those who couldn't watch, or are unaware of how the contest is played, Dice Game tasks players with rolling to try and match the numbers in the price of a new car, which doesn't feature any zeroes or numbers higher than 6. For non-matching rolls that come up as 2-5, the contestant must guess whether or not the price digit is higher or lower than the one on the die. Thus, rolling a 1 or a 6 means the number in the price is revealed automatically.

So the only way to truly sweep this game is to systematically roll only 1s and 6s. And it looks like Devon was born with magic hands, because that's exactly what he did, pulling out two 6 rolls, a 1, and then another 6. And it's not like he was trying to game the system either, as he rolled with gusto and clearly did not expect to hit an ideal roll each and every time.

Perhaps the best case scenario for any instance when three 6s are involved, amirite?

The Price Is Right's Most Epic Showcase Showdown

Making the Dice Game sweep all the more impressive in retrospect is that it went down less than a week after what was arguably The Price Is Right's most jaw-dropping Showcase Showdown in his 52-season history. If this were me, I would probably still be screaming and hollering in celebration about it, months after the taping. Check out the nutso moment below!

Being just a dollar a Showcase Showdown price is unbelievable, especially for a show that turned "Price Is Right rules" into shorthand for guesses not counting if they're higher than the correct answer.

It's wild, and more than a little depressing, that both of these all-time great appearances went down less than a year after legendary former host Bob Barker passed away at the age of 99. He probably would have gotten a big kick out of both of those as well, maybe using his microphone as a baseball bat swinging at a home run.

It’s going to be the end of an era soon when Pat Sajak’s final episode of Wheel of Fortune airs. It was announced last year that the longtime host would be retiring, with Ryan Seacrest taking over. While Seacrest is no stranger to hosting, Wheel is definitely a new venture for him. Not to mention the fact that he is going to be replacing Sajak, meaning he has some big shoes to fill. The Price is Right host Drew Carey knows what it’s like to replace a beloved and longtime game show host, and he has some funny and accurate advice for Seacrest.

When Carey took over for Bob Barker after his retirement in 2007, he admitted to being nervous that The Price is Right would be canceled soon after. However, 17 years later, the show is still going strong, and he doesn’t have any plans to step down. Now that another beloved game show host is retiring, it’s not surprising that Carey was asked if he had any advice for the incoming Wheel host. He gave ET a very funny yet accurate response when asked about Seacrest, and I can’t say it’s unexpected:

Carey does raise a good point. Seacrest made a career out of hosting -- he hosted American Idol, Live with Kelly and Ryan, New Years Rockin' Eve, his own radio show and more -- so it’s not like he’s stepping into a completely new territory. While it may still be a bit terrifying for him since hosting a game show is different than hosting a talk show or singing competition, it sounds like Carey is making sure Seacrest doesn’t have a lot to worry about. Hosting is in Seacrest’s blood, and there’s no doubt that he will do just fine.

That being said, even though Ryan Seacrest is more than qualified, it has to be nerve-wracking taking over for Pat Sajak. He is one of the best game show hosts ever, so there are some big shoes to fill. 

While Sajak’s final episode premieres next month, the series is already preparing for big changes next season. Seacrest and Vanna White have been doing some promo shoots as production reportedly has to change the set design due to Seacrest’s height. It’s going to take some time to get used to this change once Wheel of Fortune premieres next season, however, as Carey said, the American Idol host is ready for this.

As of now, a premiere date for the new season of Wheel of Fortune hasn't been announced, but hopefully, more information will come out soon. In the meantime, fans can still watch Pat Sajak’s final episodes on weekdays on the 2024 TV schedule. 

Despite The Price is Right still being one of the best game shows ever, Drew Carey was still nervous about taking over for Bob Barker and hoping that it wouldn’t get canceled. Now, almost 17 years later, Carey is still going strong, and he revealed the one mistake Barker made that he won’t be making, and I can’t say I blame him.

The late Barker gave Carey advice when he took over The Price is Right, telling him to "make it your own show." Even though Barker is arguably one of the best game show hosts of all time, Carey spoke to ET about his predecessor and the one mistake that he made that he doesn’t plan on repeating, at least not any time soon:

Barker was 84 years old when he chose to retire, and it surely is a remarkable feat considering he had been hosting since he was 49. At the time of his retirement, it was hard to imagine anyone else stepping into his shoes, but Carey has been doing a pretty good job over the last nearly two decades. At 65 years old, it sounds like he has no plans on leaving at any point in the future. In fact, it’s possible he could be filming until the day he dies.

Even though Drew Carey is adamant about filming The Price is Right for as long as possible, plans could still change in the future, whether for personal or professional reasons. Fans never saw fellow game show host Pat Sajak retiring, or at least they probably hoped he wouldn’t. Now, Wheel of Fortune is preparing to say goodbye to Sajak and hello to Ryan Seacrest. The body can only take so much when you get older, but for now, fans won’t have to worry about saying so long to Carey, because he's excited to keep working for as long as he can.

Meanwhile, as Carey continues to host The Price is Right for who knows how much longer, fans will be able to look forward to many more insane moments on the long-running game show. For example, we could see moments like a contestant celebrating so hard they dislocated their shoulder or one like the time someone didn’t even know how to leave the Price is Right stage, again. As long as the show continues to air, we'll get fun moments like this, and Carey will be there every step of the way. Honestly, I can’t imagine the show without him.

It's exciting to know that Drew Carey will be hosting The Price is Right for years to come. And fans can see him in action now by tuning in to CBS on weekdays throughout the 2024 TV schedule. 

Drew Carey is no stranger to the spotlight, having served as host of The Price is Right since 2007 after already earning a reputation as actor and comedian. He also hasn’t been shy about his dramatic and inspiring weight loss journey, as the differences over the years are astounding. His weight is perhaps the biggest transformation that Carey has gone through in the public eye, and he spoke to People about losing 80 pounds in 2010 and how it came to be. Whether this would happen after every show or just once in a while is unknown, but it does sound like it was happening enough to the point where Carey wanted to make some changes. Thanks to his doctor, he got the wake-up call he needed by telling him:

After that, Drew Carey largely cut out carbs and did 45-minute cardio workouts throughout the week. He claims he’s lost “1,000 pounds over my whole life” and weighs 80 lbs. lighter “more or less.” On top of that, he doesn’t have Type 2 diabetes anymore. He does make exceptions for carbs, but mostly stays away from them. Carey shares how much better his life is now that he’s improved his health and loves himself much more:

Carey also confessed that he feels good when he’s looking in the mirror and doesn’t have to worry about a store not having something in his size, which is always a plus. Along with loving himself more and having more confidence, the Price is Right host says he likes the energy he has now, which is definitely something he needs to have while hosting a game show. Even though his journey was not easy, the end result was clearly worth it for his healthier life, better attitude, and better energy. 

Seeing the transformation on The Price is Right over the years is incredible. Carey also recently opened up about getting closure after his former fiancé’s killer was sentenced. As The Prince is Right continues with no end in sight, Carey is moving forward with his life. It's going to be great to see how he inspires everyone next.

Comedian and The Price is Right host Drew Carey lost his ex-fiancée, Dr. Amie Harwick, in 2020 when she was tragically murdered in her home. It wasn’t until September 2023 that her killer, ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse, was convicted of the crime. Now that he’s received his final sentencing, however, Carey has opened up about finding closure.

What Did Drew Carey Say About Finding Closure After His Ex-Fiancée’s Killer Was Sentenced?

Obviously, grief is usually a long and hard road for people to travel, but it can be even more difficult when a loved one is taken unexpectedly, and in such a brutal way as Drew Carey and Amie Harwick’s family and friends lost her. The game show host was able to come to a place of forgiving for her killer relatively soon after, but he’s just spoken with People about getting the closure he needs after Pursehouse was sentenced, and said:

The Hollywood marriage and family therapist, who’d appeared in the documentary Addicted to Sexting and written the book, The New Sex Bible for Women, met the former Whose Line is it Anyway? host at a party in 2017 and they became engaged in January of the following year, but broke up later in November 2018. They had remained important parts of each other’s lives as friends, however, and Carey was devastated about her murder, leading to The Price is Right taking a break from filming so that he could process the news. 

Hearing about such a sad event itself is horrible, but the wait for an assailant to be found, arrested, charged and for the trial to be over and that person to be convicted can be long, and lead to a major stumbling block for those who are trying to move through their grief so they can resume something close to normalcy in their lives. 

The one infinitesimal bright side in this terrible news might be that Pursehouse was found and arrested shortly after committing the crime. This at least allowed Harwick’s loved ones to be able to pinpoint the person responsible and know that he couldn’t harm anyone else, but the wait for the rest of our judicial process to unfold probably felt unbearable at times as they hoped he would be punished for what he did. 

Luckily, The Masked Singer alum has been able to go back to simply remembering the good times with Harwick and the many things he loved about her, and added:

Here’s hoping that Harwick’s other friends and family are experiencing a similar sense of closure now that her killer has been sentenced.

Drew Carey has become a notable name in showbiz, starting with his standup comedy then continuing with The Drew Carey Show, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and The Price is Right. What not everybody may know about the comedian/actor/game show host is that he was in the U.S. Marine Corps for six years, resulting in a military haircut that ultimately stuck for him... whether he liked it or not.

The star, who ranks on the list of popular celebrities who are from Ohio, joined Stephen Colbert on The Late Show to explain why he sported the same haircut for many years. After sharing with the late night host that he was in the Marine Reserves for six years, starting when he was just 22 until getting out in 1986, he went on: 

The military style haircut wasn't due to Drew Carey just really liking the look, but because he got his break before he was out of the Marines and free to grow his hair as long as he liked. As fans of The Drew Carey Show know (which ran for nine seasons from 1995-2004), he had that look for quite a long time after 1986. He mixed it up a bit once he started on The Price is Right, which he was – to quote the host – determined to not "let the show be canceled with me."

Of course, the show certainly hasn't flopped with him, given that Carey has been hosting the iconic game show since 2007 and successful enough that he was feeding writers throughout the long WGA writers strike... without needing to keep his hair military-length! In his interview with Stephen Colbert, the Late Show host recalled Carey's first appearance on The Late Show when Johnny Carson was still hosting, and he commented on his look. Drew Carey got his start in comedy clubs, and he actually met the late, great Bob Sagat at a local club in Cleveland, Ohio. Following Sagat's death, Carey shared how much the Full House star supported him... and how attending a taping of the sitcom led him to miss his first Tonight Show performance. He has come a long way from his days in the Marine Corps, although he was still sporting short hair when he played a Marine on NCIS back in 2018.

Bob Barker was one of the best to ever do it when it comes to hosting game shows, as he led The Price Is Right for 35 years before retiring in 2007. Those were some pretty big shoes that Drew Carey was tasked with filling, and 17 years after he first began leading excited contestants through games of guessing the actual retail price of selected items, the comedian got real about how nervous he was to follow Barker. In fact, it seems one of his big fears was the show getting canceled and him being responsible for its downfall.

Drew Carey has said he learned a lot from the iconic game show host, and those lessons have contributed to him remaining the host of The Price Is Right for the past 17 years, but that doesn’t change the fact that stepping in for Bob Barker was a daunting task. On Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace? On MAX, the host asked Carey if he was intimidated to inherit the series from “the Babe Ruth of game shows,” to which Carey replied: 

One of those traditions was continuing to remind people to help control the pet population by having their pets spayed and neutered — a cause that was close to animal rights advocate Bob Barker’s heart. Drew Carey continues to end The Price Is Right episodes with that signoff. 

Taking over for Bob Barker — who died August 26, 2023, at the age of 99 — wasn’t just about Drew Carey honoring his predecessor, though, and it seems Barker knew that. Chris Wallace asked if Barker gave Carey any advice at the time, which led to this exchange: 

• CAREY: Yes, he gave me the best advice. He said uh, ‘Don't try to copy me. Just do your own show.’ And my joke is I don't know if it was a threat or a...
• WALLACE: Whether he was trying to sabotage you?
• CAREY: But that was the best advice. Like he knew that you couldn't get up and, and...
• WALLACE: Be Bob Barker.
• CAREY: Yeah, you have to do your own show. And then if they like it, they liked it, or they don't. And I just want, I was just hoping people would accept me.

I love to think that Bob Barker was actually threatening Drew Carey to not copy him, but now, nearly two decades into Carey’s reign on the show, hopefully he can rest assured that fans have, indeed, embraced him. For having been concerned about the show being canceled, Carey definitely seems as confident as ever in The Price Is Right’s longevity, saying he could see the show lasting for 100 years, and that he’s humbled to be a part of its legacy.

Before starring in some of Hollywood's biggest movies, Berry represented her home state in the Miss USA contest, after being named Miss Ohio USA in 1986. 

Luke Perry

Luke Perry found fame playing a high school student at the posh West Beverly High, but his beginnings were much more humble. The son of a steelworker, Perry was born in the Ohio town of Mansfield and raised in a tiny burg called Fredericktown, where he attended high school at Fredericktown High School. He moved to Los Angeles after graduating and while it took a few years, he landed his big break in Beverly Hills, 90210. Perry died tragically from a stroke in 2019.

Drew Carey

No one on this list is more proud to be from Ohio than Price Is Right host Drew Carey. It's clear that his Cleveland roots mean a lot to him, given that his show, The Drew Carey Show, was set in Cleveland, with a theme song called "Cleveland Rocks." Not only did the comedian grow up in Cleveland, he also attended Kent State in Ohio and even served in the Marine Corps reserves in the state before moving west to find fame. 

Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1978 and has always remained a proud Ohioan. She attended Catholic school as a kid and began modeling in Toledo while still in high school. That led to opportunities in New York City, which led to her landing her first film role at 19 in Ang Lee's The Ice Storm (1997). Soon after, she joined the cast of Dawson's Creek and the rest is history. 

John Legend

The Voice judge John Legend was born in the central Ohio town of Springfield. Legend was a true prodigy during his upbringing. He was dabbling in music at a young age, before leaving Ohio to attend the University of Pennsylvania. 

Yvette Nicole Brown

Yvette Nicole Brown took the hard road to fame. Before she landed her starring role on Community, she found her way to success with bit parts and one-offs on TV shows. It all paid off in the end, but before she made it in Hollywood, she was born and raised in the Cleveland, OH area. After high school, she attended the University of Akron and moved to LA after she graduated. 

Clark Gable

There is no bigger star from the Golden Age of Hollywood than Clark Gable. Like many of his fellow Ohioans, he had humble beginnings. Born in 1901 in Cadiz, OH, Gable moved around the state quite a bit before his father and stepmother settled near Akron. Gable struck out on his own, first working in a tire factory in Akron, before bouncing around until he finally ended up in Hollywood in the 1920s. 

Beverly D'Angelo

When you are the granddaughter of the architect who designed the famous Ohio Stadium at The Ohio State University, you know you are pure Ohio. Such is the case for Vacation star Beverly D'Angelo. Unsurprisingly, D'Angelo was born in Columbus and raised in the suburb of Upper Arlington, before setting out on an entertainment career that took her all over North America, before she found success in Hollywood. 

Steve Harvey

Okay, so we're fudging here a little, as beloved talk show host and TV judge Steve Harvey was actually born in West Virginia, but he was raised in Cleveland. After graduating from high school, he briefly attended Kent State, before dropping out and starting his standup career in comedy clubs in and around Cleveland. 

Paul Newman

When you think of the words "movie star," there's a good chance you might picture Paul Newman. From the mid-'50s until his death in 2008, the Shaker Heights, OH native was box office gold. He graduated from Shaker Heights High in 1943 and joined the Navy during World War II. He finally headed to LA in the '50s and over the next six decades starred in some of the biggest movies of all time. 

Arsenio Hall

Born in Cleveland in 1956, actor and talk show host Arsenio Hall grew up in nearby Warrensville Heights, Ohio, and attended college at both Ohio University and Kent State. He left Ohio, first for Chicago and later LA, and his career took off with some fantastic roles from there. 

Phyllis Diller

Phyllis Diller's remarkable life began in Lima, Ohio in 1917. Her roundabout way to comedy legend status started when she was still a full-time mother and homemaker with her military husband in Alameda, CA. She was discovered after she made some appearances on Bay Area radio and TV stations and from there became a star. 

Rachael Harris

Lucifer star Rachael Harris was born in Worthington, OH, and grew up in the Columbus area before attending college at Otterbein University in nearby Westerville, OH. She moved to LA and was a member of the legendary improv group The Groundlings before she started landing TV roles in the 1990s. Today she's best known for Goosebumps (2023) and Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010), in addition to Lucifer. 

Steven Spielberg

In The Fablemans, Ohio native Steven Spielberg tells a fictionalized version of his own life, but one major change was made. In the movie, Sammy Fabelman (Gabriel LaBelle) and his family move from New Jersey to Arizona. In real life, the Spielbergs moved to Phoenix from Cincinnati, Ohio. Though he only lived in Cincinnati for the first ten years or so of his life, there is no doubt that one of the all-time great directors has his roots in Ohio. 

Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra was born just outside of Cincinnati and grew up in the Queen City. She first started dancing and acting at Princeton High School in the Cincinnati school district and her love of doing both led directly to Hollywood where she's been doing both for decades now. 

Doris Day

Though she retired from acting in 1968, Doris Day is still remembered as a legend of old Hollywood. She also recorded almost three dozen albums over her nearly 100-year life. It all started in Cincinnati in 1922 when Day was born Doris Mary Anne Kappelhoff. Her career started as a singer on a local radio station in Cincinnati, WLW. Her music led her to Hollywood, and a star was born. 

Philip Michael Thomas

Philip Michael Thomas is most famous for starring as Rico Tubbs on the '80s hit Miami Vice. He's also famous for inventing the term "EGOT", claiming in the '80s that he would win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony, though he has yet to win any of the prestigious awards. Thomas was born in Cincinnati, but raised in California, where his career began. 

Teri Garr

Though she was raised mostly in Los Angeles, Teri Garr was born near Cleveland, OH, in the suburb of Lakewood. Her parents were entertainers, so it makes sense they would eventually land in Southern California, so while Garr didn't spend much time in Ohio, the state can certainly claim her as one of their own. 

Randy "Macho Man" Savage

Oh yeah! One of the greatest wrestlers of all time came from Columbus, OH. Born Randy Poffo in 1952, the Macho Man and his wrestling brother "Leaping" Lanny Poffo lived in Zanesville, Ohio, until the family moved to the Chicagoland area when Savage was in high school. Though he tried to become a pro baseball player, Savage found fame with the WWE and was a superstar in the sport until he died in 2012. 

Anne Heche

Before her tragic death in 2022, Anne Heche put together an impressive career in Hollywood and broke a lot of barriers when she very publicly dated Ellen DeGeneres. It was a long way from her strict Christian upbringing in Ohio. Heche was born in the Akron suburb of Aurora, Ohio, and also lived near Cleveland for a time before her father moved the family to New Jersey in 1977 when Heche was eight. 

Rob Lowe

Okay, okay, so Rob Lowe was actually born in Virginia, but he moved to Dayton, OH at a very young age and was raised in the Buckeye State. His first gigs as a professional actor came when he was still living in Dayton and as soon as he could, he headed out to Hollywood where he became one of the famous "Brat Pack" in the 1980s. His career had a few bumps in the road, but today he's one of the most beloved stars on the silver screen. 

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker's most famed role is of a dyed-in-the-wool Manhattanite, but the actress was born in a quaint little town near Columbus named Nelsonville, Ohio, with a population of about 5000. Her career as a child actor took her whole family to New York in the 1970s and Parker has never looked back. 

Lili Reinhart

Riverdale star Lili Reinhart was born and raised in the Cleveland area, where she lived until she was 18. After graduating high school, she moved to LA and though she struggled like most young actors, eventually she started landing parts in a few movies, before scoring a starring role on the CW's Riverdale, playing the iconic Betty Cooper. 

Jamie Farr

Jamie Farr's most famous character, Corporal Klinger on one of the highest-rated shows of all time, M*A*S*H, was from Toledo, Ohio, which would have been easy for the actor to remember, as that is where Farr is from too. For decades, Farr's name was associated with the LPGA golf tournament, The Jamie Farr Classic (with various sponsor names over the years). 

Martin Sheen

Born Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez in Dayton, OH, The West Wing star Martin Sheen always knew he wanted to be an actor, even growing up in Dayton. Orphaned at eleven, he lived in Dayton until he graduated high school and headed off for New York to make it big, and it's safe to say he has. 

Fred Willard

Comedy legend Fred Willard is responsible for some of the funniest lines in the Christopher Guest family of films, a sense of humor he developed as a kid in the Cleveland suburb of Shaker Heights, OH. Born in Cleveland in 1933, Willard moved to New York in the '50s, and though it took a couple of decades to find fame, he eventually did. The world lost a great one when he died in 2020. 

Allison Janney

Though she is technically from Boston, where she was born in 1959, Allison Janney was raised in Dayton. Even her legendary character from The West Wing, CJ Craig, was  from Dayton and went back home in one episode for her high school reunion. 

Katt Williams

Katt Williams, the unpredictable, and hilarious, comedian was born and raised in Cincinnati, but left town and moved to Florida after being emancipated from his parents at age 13. For years he worked the comedy clubs before launching to fame in the late '90s. 

Nancy Cartwright

She might not be the most famous face on this list, but her voice is one of the most famous in the world. Nancy Cartwright has been doing the voice of Bart Simpson (and other Simpsons characters) for more than 30 years, but long before scoring that gig, she grew up in Kettering, Ohio after being born in Dayton.

Patricia Heaton

Patricia Heaton, star of Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle, was born in the Cleveland suburb of Bay Village, OH and she got her bachelor's degree at The Ohio State University. So while she lives in LA and in the UK these days, she's an Ohioan through and through. 

Catherine Bach

It's hard to believe that The Dukes of Hazzard was consistently one of the highest-rated shows during its run in the late '70s and early '80s. It's not hard to believe that Cleveland native Catherine Bach as Daisy Duke in her short shorts was a big reason why it was so popular. 

Rocky Carroll

NCIS star Rocky Carroll is a proud son of Cincinnati, where he attended the School for Creative and Performing Arts for high school like many other stars from the area. After attending college in St. Louis, MO, he moved to New York City to start his career and he's never looked back. 

While it may not jump out as an entertainment hotbed, when you scratch the surface, you'll soon realize just how many celebrities have been born in Ohio, and it's a lot. 

The WGA strike cost a lot. The strike cost studios money but it also cost a great deal for the writers who made the decision to walk off the job in order to fight for what they felt they deserved. While some of the writers were in a financial position to not be hurt too badly by the loss of income, for many more it was a big hit, but luckily for them, Drew Carey was there.

If you’ve been following the WGA strike, you may have heard a story about Drew Carey, the host of The Price Is Right who reportedly agreed to pay for any meal eaten by members of the WGA for the duration of the strike at two L.A. restaurants. While Carey spoke very little publicly about what he was doing, Deadline estimates that the bill at Bob’s Big Boy and Swingers cost him somewhere in the neighborhood of a half million dollars. And Carey did ultimately confirm publicly what he was doing after the WGA deal was reached.

Drew Carey reportedly makes somewhere north of $12 million per year hosting The Price is Right, which he took over from the late Bob Barker in 2007. Barker had an estate with $70 million when he passed away so game show hosting is a pretty decent gig. As such spending a half million dollars on food for people he will never meet isn’t an expense that’s going to break Drew Carey, but it’s also not an insignificant amount of money, even for him. Clearly, it was a cause Carey felt was worth supporting.

And it’s an amount of money that Drew Carey can afford, while simply buying lunch while they were out on the picket line would be a much more significant financial burden for a lot of the writers who were taking advantage of it. A lot of writers have been showering Carey with praise for what he did during the strike.

Reportedly, writers simply needed to show their WGA card at the restaurants, and whatever they ordered was simply added to the bill that Drew Carey had already agreed to pay. This made it incredibly easy for people to get food,

We’ve seen other celebrities do some pretty nice stuff due to the strikes. Dwayne Johnson made a massive donation to the fund being used to help out the people from all over Hollywood whose lives were inconvenienced by the strikes. He was one of several who used the wealth they had to help out those who hadn’t reached that level of success, but still made a living from the entertainment industry. 

With writers back at work a lot of Hollywood can start going back to business as usual, but until the actors’ strike is resolved many more will still be waiting. 

Fans of The Price is Right and those associated with the show are still mourning the great Bob Barker. The beloved longtime host of the CBS series died in August at age 99 after battling Alzheimer’s disease. A number of stars were quick to pay tribute to the late TV icon, including his Happy Gilmore co-star Adam Sandler and media personality Tom Bergeron. The show's current host, Drew Carey, was among those to honor his predecessor, and the series also aired a special tribute episode in Barker's honor. Now, Carey is opening up about what he learned from the TV staple and explaining just why "he was so good" at his job.

Bob Barker hosted The Price is Right from 1972 until his retirement in 2007 and also headlined Truth or Consequences from 1956 to 1975. Even after he left the former program, he appeared in a few more episodes, including a special April Fool’s Day episode, in which he swapped places with Drew Carey. Following Barker's death, ET caught up with Carey on the set of the long-running show. While discussing his mentor's work, Carey discussed a key factor that made Barker so successful: 

Anyone who has ever seen the game show likely. knows it's far from relaxing. Contestants have even hurt themselves, even falling flat on their faces while on the show. However, amid all the chaos, Bob Barker always seemed calm and collected. One would imagine that contestants appreciated his easy-going nature during those tapings. With that, Drew Carey went on to say that he's been trying to channel some of those same serene vibes:

Drew Carey has been hosting The Price is Right for a while now and has done a good job. It's evident that he's taken cues from his hero, but Carey has also been developing his own unique approach to the game. All the while, he still received guidance, as Bob Barker apparently gave him sage advice. The notion of having to pick up and carry the torch for a star like Bob Barker is daunting, but Carey is doing it well, even if he still thinks he needs to loosen up more.

Bob Barker is easily one of the best game show hosts ever, and his legacy will live on in a myriad of ways. Aside from his contributions to TV, he reportedly left his fortune to a host of charities. That's not too surprising, since he notably became a philanthropist in his later years. It's honestly still a bit weird knowing that Barker is no longer around. Drew Carey and more will surely miss his relaxed, on-camera demeanor as well as his vivacious desire for change as a social activist in his personal life.

Still a mainstay on daytime TV, new episodes of The Price is Right can be viewed in syndication amid the sea of content that makes up the 2023 TV schedule.

TV legend and long-time host of The Price is Right Bob Barker died at the age of 99. After news broke that the television personality and animal activist had passed away, many celebrities and organizations showed their love for him through sweet tributes, including Adam Sandler, Drew Carey and more. 

In 2007, Drew Carey took over hosting The Price is Right after Bob Barker retired. The current host explained last year, that his predecessor told him to make the game show “your own,” and he listened. Following the news of Barker’s death, the comedian took to Twitter to post his condolences for the beloved game show host. He wrote:

The Price is Right and Paramount also released a joint statement on Instagram to show their love for Barker and the impact he left on the show that celebrated its 50th-anniversary last year. Between 1972 and 2007 the host led 6,586 episodes, won 19 Daytime Emmys, a lifetime achievement award, and a place in the Television Academy's Hall of Fame. Talk about an impressive run. The show and its network noted this success, and the legacy of Bob Barker, writing: 

Of course, Bob Barker was also well known for his cameo in Happy Gilmore, and a silly ongoing feud he had with Adam Sandler. The Uncut Gems actor and the gameshow host developed a friendship, and to pay homage to his golf partner on screen and his real-life pal, the actor posted this sweet message on Instagram:

That scene where Happy and Barker get into a fight is truly iconic, and one of the best moments in Happy Gilmore. SNL alum Rob Schneider thought so too as he retweeted the clip from the movie, and wrote:

Tom Bergeron, posted a personal and heartfelt statement about his fellow TV host. Noting how The Price is Right shot on the same stage as Hollywood Squares, he wrote about how they shared a dressing room, and how the two developed a wonderful friendship over the years. 

Along with many celebrities reacting to Bob Barker’s death, PETA, an organization he worked closely with, also released a statement about the passionate animal rights activist. Ingrid Newkirk, the president of PETA, wrote:

On a personal note, Barker’s longtime girlfriend Nancy Burnet released a statement to ET. She said:

All this appreciation goes to show how many people adored Bob Barker and his incredible career as both a game show host and animal activist. He will be dearly missed, however, his legacy will live on.

The Price Is Right is the game show that I would say likely has the most excitable contestants, with people jumping and screaming when their name is called to “Come on down!” The opportunities for celebration only continue through the segments of the game, and Lord help us if someone happens to win “A NEW CAR!” Inevitably, with more than 50 years’ worth of The Price Is Right episodes, the players’ exuberance has sometimes led to injury. That was the case for a recent contestant, who dislocated his shoulder after a big win, as you can see in the video below.

Henry was unable to hold back his enthusiasm after dominating a higher-or-lower game, and The Price Is Right’s Instagram page shared the moment his jubilation went too far: 

The lightning-fast way the contestant guessed those numbers was actually pretty impressive, so I certainly can’t fault him for reveling in his success. Thank goodness there was no gruesome popping-out moment either, because I presume most people don't want to see UFC-style injuries while watching The Price is Right. 

It actually wasn’t obvious at all at the time that his wild arm pumping had resulted in him hurting himself. We actually didn't officially know about it until he made his way over to the big wheel — where his wife Alice joined him — and Drew Carey explained that Henry had sustained the injury: 

It seems Henry is a winner on The Price Is Right and in life, because his wife executed a near-perfect spin on the big wheel, securing 95 cents for her wounded hubby. His game show appearance resulted in winning a trip to Hawaii, but — as the caption above noted — a trip to the ER as well. So while there’s really no telling if there was any net gain from Henry and Alice’s game show experience, they at least left with a good story.

The Price Is Right has seen its share of mishaps over the years, including one person who fell flat on his face after losing at the big wheel. Also, while the contestant who couldn’t figure out how to leave the stage wasn’t actually hurt in her experience, it’s still pretty painful to watch. Poor Molly took it right in the ego, when she mistakenly thought she had won the bidding game and ran on stage just to have Drew Carey inform her that she’d lost.

Other times it’s the models, rather than the contestants, who provide us with priceless viral moments. The Price Is Right’s Amber Lancaster said she might die of embarrassment after she tripped and broke part of the set, and Manuela Arbelaez just recently opened up about being “mortified” during her infamous blooper from 2015, when she accidentally gave away a $21,960 car.

Ken Jennings may be the preferred co-host to many contestants who take the Alex Trebek Stage to compete on Jeopardy!, but the record-holding super-champ has faced some backlash over the past couple of weeks. He recently was forced to defend himself over accusations of giving a hint to a player and misreading a clue, and now executive producer Michael Davies has stepped in, after Jennings and contestant Greg Snyder were called out for shading The Price Is Right. Let’s take a look at Jeopardy!’s latest hullabaloo.

What Did Ken Jennings Say About The Price Is Right? 

On the February 7 episode of Jeopardy!, Ken Jennings prompted Greg Snyder to divulge that that was not his first time on a major game show, and the contestant spoke about his appearance on The Price Is Right. He went above and beyond to ensure the host knew this experience was more meaningful than the last, as he said (via TV Line): 

Winning a car on The Price Is Right is no small feat, but Greg Snyder seemed content to downplay the experience, and Ken Jennings fully understood that the road to Jeopardy! is far more taxing than the Drew Carey-hosted affair. Jennings quipped: 

Ken Jennings sounds more like he’s referring to the costumes and antics regularly seen on Let’s Make a Deal, but The Price Is Right has had its share of eccentric contestants as well, who have been known for both cringey and relatable faux pas. Either way, I think we can all agree the Jeopardy! casting process is probably way more intensive. 

EP Michael Davies Weighs In On The Price Is Right Comments 

What should have been an amusing exchange between the host and player turned into an issue, as news stories accused Ken Jennings of “slamming” The Price Is Right. Media outlets even contacted the show for a comment, so executive producer Michael Davies said he felt the need to address the issue on the Inside Jeopardy! podcast, saying: 

Michael Davies seems to be solidly in Ken Jennings’ corner, as he pointed out that the host was making a joke, and there is a mutual respect when it comes to the two classic game shows. 

The Price Is Right dig comes at a time when Jeopardy! has been in the headlines a lot for strange happenings on and off the air. Even before Ken Jennings was forced to play defense over accusations that he made two major on-camera mistakes, a recent champion went on an epic rant against the quiz show, prompting super-champ James Holzhauer to call for a lifetime ban.

It’s really hard to be “the guy AFTER the guy.” Take a look at late-night legend Johnny Carson, still one of the best late-night talk show hosts to ever do it. After he left The Tonight Show, there was a transition to Jay Leno that took time for people to adjust. And forget about the debacle that happened when Leno said he was leaving… only to return to the show, and slight Conan O’Brien in the process. Mess. The same can happen on daytime television game shows, which often get comfortable with the same host, and struggle to survive after a host has moved on. Bob Barker owned The Price is Right. He held that skinny microphone for 35 years, finally retiring from the program in 2007. And now Barker’s replacement, comedian Drew Carey, reveals the advice that Barker gave him before stepping into the gig. 

Drew Carey officially took over hosting duties on The Price is Right in August 2007, and has crafted his own role on the program. Which is essentially what previous host Bob Barker told him to do, if he had any chance at succeeding. Speaking with People after holding on to the gig for several years, Carey revealed the advice he received from Barker. It seems to have worked. Carey said:

Which is probably a lot harder to do than it sounds. Because so many of Bob Barker’s The Price is Right mannerisms and slogans were baked into the childhoods of generations of audience members, and wanting to do what he does feels like it’d be easy to slip back into. Here’s a funny story. My wife and I went to a taping of The Price is Right on our honeymoon. During a commercial break, Bob Barker asked everyone who was 30 and younger to raise their hands. Roughly 85% of us did so, to which Barker told us, “You people have never known a life without The Price is Right!” And we all roared in approval. Barker could work a crowd. And man, did he live an exciting life. 

Drew Carey had his own level of fame when he took over The Price is Right. He was a successful comedian who had made the leap over to sitcom stardom, and also spent years hosting the popular improv comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? Carey certainly didn’t need The Price is Right, but it has been a match made in Hollywood so far. Carey recently claimed, rightfully so, that the game show could last another 100 years because it enjoys such an adaptable format. And whomever the next host of The Price is Right ends up being – unless Carey is a cyborg – will benefit from the roads that were blazed by both Carey and Barker. And they likely would tell this person to morph with the show, make it their own, and keep The Price is Right fresh for generations. 

Just remember, if your name gets called, and you run up on the stage, call Drew Carey by his right name. Or you might never live the mistake down.

There are some game shows that just stand the test of time. Wheel of Fortune has caused people to yell at their TV screens (and contestants for their terrible guesses) since 1975, while general trivia knowledge has never been more exciting than on Jeopardy!, which has graced the airwaves since 1964. And in between those years, The Price Is Right took the mundane knowledge of retail prices and turned it into an exciting decades-long phenomenon. So how much longer will it be before the Big Wheel spins off into the sunset? As far as host Drew Carey is concerned, he doesn’t think it’ll be anytime soon.

The version of The Price Is Right that we know today premiered in 1972 and has been a CBS staple for the last 50 years, but even before that, a version of the game aired from 1956 to 1965. While accepting an award at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Show, Drew Carey discussed the series' future, and he predicted the game show will have a longer shelf life than just about anything on the show that contestants are asked to guess the price of. He said, per Deadline: 

The host’s bold prediction actually makes sense. The Price Is Right might just be around for another century, because price-guessing is such a deceptively simple  — and kind of ingenious — concept. While the players’ job boils down to playing games to determine the value of everyday items, such as kitchen appliances, furniture sets, or A NEW CAR!, it’s the boisterous atmosphere that attracts and keeps its audience. Not to mention vicarious living through the contestants.

The flashing lights, loud music and screaming audience members make for some pretty exciting TV viewing --- take, for example, the man who broke the Plinko record. That characteristic sets it apart from other long-running game shows that feature less frantic interactions and more structured formats. Can you imagine if Wheel of Fortune’s audience was encouraged to try to help the contestants on stage? Or Jeopardy! contestants were introduced while they ran, hollering and jumping, onto the stage?

While it’s probably not required for longevity, having moments that go viral online certainly doesn’t hurt a show, and the players’ enthusiasm has resulted in plenty of rewatchable moments. Just recently a contestant found herself in a painfully relatable situation when she couldn’t figure out how to get off-stage. While that was certainly embarrassing, it was much less dramatic than the man who fell flat on his face after losing at the Big Wheel. Who wouldn't watch more of that for another 50 years, presumably while home sick from school or work?

Drew Carey has been bringing that big wheel energy to The Price Is Right since 2007, and he said he’s humble to be a part of such an institution. He got the job when the iconic Bob Barker retired after hosting the show for the previous 35 years. In 2019, Carey has even led the game show into primetime with The Price Is Right at Night, where in addition to the typical gameplay, a celebrity is often featured playing for charity. 

The Price Is Right, which continues to unintentionally fool people into thinking SNL vet Adam Sandler is on the production team, is certainly not going anywhere anytime soon, regardless of whether or not it survives into the 22nd century. For a lot of people out there, appearing on a daytime game show with the possibility of taking home some spending money is a nice and feasibly attainable dream, considering how many game shows are out there airing on a daily basis. Of course, more game show contestants overall means more opportunities for such hopefuls to suffer cringe-heavy experiences in full view of millions of viewers at home, on top of everyone in the studio audience. And while such embarrassment often comes in the form of a brazenly wrong guess (or even two of them) on Wheel of Fortune or telling an awful anecdote on Jeopardy!, sometimes it just involves the act of walking from one place to the other, as one Price Is Right contestant learned the hard way. 

In a moment that has since gone viral for all the relatably shame-worthy reasons, one Price Is Right hopeful followed up her Showcase Showdown efforts by failing to leave the stage in an orderly and timely fashion. Which is probably the nicest way to word what happens in the below clip from TikTok. Check it out!

This poor, poor, poor woman. A “wait, where’s the exit?” faux pas usually lasts for a brief moment, akin to the “go right or left” dance that happens on sidewalks and in store aisles. But even edited for TV, this moment drags on for a whopping 20 confusion-laced seconds. And you KNOW that it had to feel like 20 separate eternities for the contestant as she failed to properly navigate her way around the iconic game show stage set. 

And while it may sound like I’m being somewhat judgmental, please know that I share in the notion that many of the commenters had, in that this awks-as-bawls moment feels like the entirety of life encapsulated. I don’t know that I would have explicitly used “losing the ability to leave a game show” as the most apt comparison for life’s most humility-crushing foibles, but every day is a learning experience. 

Let’s just break things down moment by moment, because what’s more fun that surgically inspecting someone else’s horror?

• Mistake #1: Not watching where other contestants went after their Big Wheel spins, either during that particular taping or at any point in The Price Is Right's 50-year-history.
• Mistake #2: Looking at the giant blue dollar sign set decoration and, despite presumably understanding deep down that it was made of solid, non-permeable materials, continuing to walk toward it as if it would suddenly reveal itself to actually be a hallway.
• Mistake #3: Staring outward to the wide open area of the stage and, after appearing to take a suggestion from someone off-camera, choosing not to walk in that direction, but rather back towards all the giant solid parts of the set that have still not magically taken on the form of dissipating fog.
• Mistake #4: Taking a shot to see if there was a super-secret exit in the already visible area behind the giant dollar sign.
• Mistake #5: Temporarily giving up and standing there like a deer caught cheating on a math test.
• Mistake #6: Continuing to believe that maybe, just maybe, walking back toward walls and other non-moving parts of the set will provide anything beyond more frustration. 

Thankfully, the contestant was able to take her leave without further incident, and seemingly without the entire production having to shut down in order for a producer to make the “come over here” motion with his index finger. Her body language hilariously transformed into something more dejected and Charlie Brown-like, on the polar opposite side of things from Price Is Right’s most celebratory contestants. I certainly hope things only got better for her once she was out of the camera’s view, and that she didn’t have to get through any corn mazes before vacating the studio.

Host Drew Carey, who recently shared a heartwarming story about his late friend and TV icon Bob Saget, was either completely oblivious to the matter, or he was being told in his earpiece not to put any focus on the wandering nomad to his left. Now let me make my own way out of this story before I end up getting lost mysel…wait, there used to be a door here, right? No?

The world lost a comedy great earlier in January with the death of Bob Saget, who passed away at the age of 65. Friends and fellow celebrities have since spoken out to pay tribute to him and grieve the loss, ranging from those who famously worked with him on Full House to those who knew him for his comedy to those who simply wanted to honor a man who generated so many laughs. Now, stand-up comic, sitcom star, and Price Is Right host Drew Carey shared a fun story about Bob Saget’s kindness, and why he missed an episode of The Tonight Show.

Drew Carey spoke about meeting Bob Saget in the beginning of his career, before becoming host of The Price Is Right. Speaking with ET, he shared:

Drew Carey’s earliest credit for The Tonight Show is dated to 1991, when Johnny Carson was still host before the main duties were taken over by Jay Leno in 1992. Full House ran from 1987 - 1995, so evidently Carey’s fans now could have seen him make his Tonight Show debut as a guest comic even earlier if Bob Saget hadn’t given him an opportunity that he couldn’t pass up. The support of Saget clearly meant a lot to Carey as his career progressed, and there’s no denying that he became a comedy great in his own right, including a number of later Tonight Show appearances.

Not many people can probably trace their earliest roots to Bob Saget all the way back to a local comedy club in Northeast Ohio, and Drew Carey was evidently lucky enough to do so before making it on a bigger stage, starring in The Drew Carey Show from 1995-2004, and landing hosting gigs like Whose Line Is It Anyway and The Price Is Right (including The Price Is Right at Night). Despite all of his success on the small screen, Carey still has fond memories of his early impressions of Saget. He went on to say of Saget as a stand-up comic:

Drew Carey is far from the only big name in comedy to sing praises of Bob Saget following his death, including Adam Sandler and SNL’s Pete Davidson. Members of his Full House family had messages as well, with the Olsen twins releasing a rare public statement in honor of their former on-screen dad, and Jodie Sweetin shared a “vow” for his funeral. He made an impression on fellow comedians, celebrities, and fans alike, and he won’t be forgotten.

Many people across the internet have given their opinion on former Jeopardy! host Mike Richards' firing from the iconic game show. Though few people have offered Richards any advice on what he should do next. While the former executive producer has seemingly disappeared from the public eye, there's still something to consider -- will he be welcomed back with open arms or kept away from game shows forever? Having worked with Richards before, The Price is Right's Drew Carey offered his thoughts on whether the former host could possibly make a comeback.

Drew Carey and Mike Richards worked together on The Price is Right for over a decade, so Carey knows the producer quite well. When asked for his thoughts on what lies ahead for Richards, he stated his belief that a return is possible for Richards. However, he also says that it might not come right away:

Given how upbeat Drew Carey typically is, his perspective makes sense, and there's a chance  the advice could actually work for Richards. Because they'e worked so closely together, The Price is Right host would want to give Mike Richards the benefit of the doubt. And of course, the host would seemingly know a different side to Richards that viewers may not be privy to. But unlike Carey, not everyone has glowing thoughts their experiences with the former Jeopardy! host. And while speaking with Daily Blast Live, even the host pointed out that he could not defend Richards’ past words or actions. 

The Mike Richards situation has had its effects on quite a few people. Current Jeopardy! host Mayim Bialik finally said her piece on his abrupt departure from the show in an essay. The Big Bang Theory alum walked a delicate line of neutrality while addressing Richards’ controversial past. In her writing, Bialik showed particular concern about the trivia show’s future after Richards’ firing. The actress and TV personality is certainly in an interesting position though, based on her essay, it only seems to be motivating her to work harder at making the show the best it can be.

What lies ahead for Mike Richards following this situation remains to be seen. In terms of Jeopardy!, fans will likely be tuning in to see how Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings handle their hosting duties, until a permanent replacement is found.

If you have HBO Max or were able to make it to one of the few theaters open right now, chances are you’ve watched the recently-released Wonder Woman 1984. If you can remember the beginning of the two and a half hour-long film, which gives us a look into Diana’s Amazonian background, you may recall seeing a familiar face. One of the beautiful and athletic Amazon women who raised Wonder Woman could also be seen every weekday morning as a model on CBS’s The Price is Right.

Gwendolyn Osborne, a model, actress and now it would seem stuntwoman, was seen with Drew Carey pretty much every morning giving away money and cars on The Price is Right. There have always been models on the show, but they have taken on a little bit of a new role since Drew Carey has become host of the long-running game show. Osborne told Yahoo that Carey has been a source of new life on the set and instituted a new standard of woman empowerment for the show that had not been seen before. Here's what Osborne had to say about how that paved the way for her to join Wonder Woman 1984:

Gwendolyn Osborne was the first model on The Price is Right to be shown pregnant and to be able to retain her job after giving birth. In fact, all models on the show have become pregnant while on the show since Drew Carey has become the host, and Osborne believes he's the person to thank for that possibility.

The models have been made a personality staple to the show, rather than simply eye candy. They have been humanized, and Drew Carey (or whoever really is responsible for the apparent changes in the show’s rulebook) has made the statement that the models are worth holding on to as individuals. Gwendolyn Osborne left The Price is Right in 2017, having spent 12 years total on the show.

It would seem that the girl power attitude has leaked over into other opportunities for Gwendolyn Osborne in a big way. Being in the opening scenes in one of the biggest theatrical releases of the year has generated a good amount of buzz for Osborne, and the role of an Amazonian in Wonder Woman 1984 puts her in a position to portray more bold and beautiful roles in the future.

Wheel of Fortune has fared quite well since it returned from its COVID-influenced delay, with TV viewers seeking out the kind of comfort programming that game shows fit into perfectly. (Especially now that Jeopardy! will be airing Alex Trebek's final episodes soon.) To capitalize upon its decades-long success, Wheel of Fortune is gearing up for a set of celebrity-filled primetime episodes, and ABC has now announced exactly who viewers will see buying vowels and solving puzzles, with The Price Is Right host Drew Carey in the mix along with The Bachelor's longtime host Chris Harrison.

Wheel of Fortune released a new video promo that revealed all of the 24 celeb contestants that will be competing for various charities during the game show's nighttime run in early 2021. Check out the full list below, which also includes names such as Grey's Anatomy star Chandra Wilson and Pee-Wee Herman himself, Paul Reubens.

Celebrity-infused special events are often a mish-mash of lesser-known actors and entertainers past their prime, but this lineup for Wheel of Fortune's primetime episodes is filled with big names from all over the TV-sphere. Beyond the aforementioned hosts Drew Carey and Chris Harrison, we've got other front-persons such as Queer Eye hist (and Dancing with the Stars vet) Karamo Brown, Nailed It host and comedian Nicole Byer, Card Sharks' Joel McHale, America's Funniest Home Videos' Alfonso Ribeiro, Supermarket Sweep's Leslie Jones, former The View host Sherri Shepherd, and Holey Moley's Rob Riggle and Joe Tessitore. Not to mention Jeannie Mae, who has been on The Real and Holey Moley. Kinda sounds like there's a bit of host bias happening here.

Beyond all those talented folks, Wheel of Fortune is also welcoming Joel McHale's fellow Community vet Yvette Nicole Brown – six seasons, a Wheel of Fortune episode and a movie? – Hallmark and Criminal Minds actress Rachael Leigh Cook, 90210's Jennie Garth, Supergirl vet Teri Hatcher, skateboarding icon Tony Hawk, Shark Tank's Robert Herjavec, the WWE's Maria Menounos, This Is Us' Chrissy Metz, SNL vet Kevin Nealon, A.P. Bio's Patton Oswalt, Pee-Wee and Mosaic vet Paul Reubens, Grey's Anatomy's Chandra Wilson, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. vet Constance Zimmer.

With 24 contestants, it's presumed that there will be at least eight different episodes of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune to go around, unless there are additional episodes for winners to face off or something along those lines.

The Price is Right will be the latest game show to return to television after abruptly stopping production in the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune earlier this year, The Price is Right will return with some changes to protect the people involved with the show. Host Drew Carey shared his thoughts on the changes coming to the new episodes, ranging from production to his facial hair.

The most obvious change for new episodes of The Price is Right is that the studio, which is usually jam-packed with fans trying to get noticed for the chance to win some prizes, won’t have an audience, but there will be more subtle differences as well. Drew Carey spoke with CBS This Morning about the return of The Price is Right, and he commented on his new pandemic facial hair:

Drew Carey is back in front of the cameras of The Price is Right with a full beard and no tie! The lack of a tie probably won’t leave too many longtime fans in shock, but the beard is definitely a new look for the host. Considering how many TV personalities returned to the airwaves with quarantine haircuts (including The Masked Singer’s Robin Thicke), I’d say that Carey looks pretty snazzy on the whole.

Of course, one of the iconic elements of The Price is Right is announcer George Gray saying “Come on down!” to contestants in the audience, and that obviously can’t happen without an actual studio audience. The good news for longtime fans is that the show found a way to keep the line in. Drew Carey explained:

The reactions from the contestants will still be part of The Price is Right; they just won’t be running down from the audience to start the game. The absence of an audience also isn’t the only practical change coming to the show in its return.

Social distancing will be in place, and crew members will wear masks and work in zones. Cleaning and testing will happen regularly, including the wheel being sanitized between spins. Also, physical contact between Drew Carey and the players is off-limits. Drew Carey, who has been nearly pulled off the stage by a fan in the past, shared:

Contestants will just have to vent their excitement in ways that don’t involve physical contact with Drew Carey! The Price is Right is returning in grand fashion, with a series of three upcoming primetime specials. The first airs on Tuesday, October 27 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

TV shows have had to make significant changes to adapt to COVID-19, with the new measures aimed at ensuring the well-being of casts and crews. Game shows have a particularly difficult challenge due to the inclusion of contestants as well as a live audience. CBS’ The Price is Right has been out of production for months, like so many other shows, but it’s finally getting back to filming, with some alterations of its own.

The Price is Right returned to the studio this week to restart shooting, though the show will now be without a live audience, which will be a first in the nearly 50 years it’s been on the air. Deadline also reports that the show’s set at Television City in LA has been redesigned to be more COVID-friendly.

The rebuilt set includes decking, which now sits in the area that the audience used to occupy. In addition, contestants on Bidder’s Row will now be spaced six feet apart. New protocols will also include regular testing and production zones and, as you would expect, masks and shields will be used as well.

While all of these changes represent a major shift for the veteran series, the lack of an audience could be the biggest adjustment but, as showrunner Evelyn Warfel tells the trade, it was the best way to maintain safety on the Drew Carey-hosted program:

Unfortunately, The Price is Right is unable to utilize a virtual audience since that would allow people to look up prices with the help of the internet. Warfel does believe, though, that any disappoint that viewers have about this will be soothed by the fact that all of the show’s signature games are back:

It may honestly take a while for audiences to get used to seeing The Price is Right without an excited studio audience. Yet it’s clear that Evelyn Warfel and her team at CBS have put a lot of thought into moving the beloved show forward during these uncertain times.

For six seasons (and hopefully someday, its long-awaited movie), Community proved to be the little show that could. Despite its inconsistent ratings, a seemingly indifferent network, the firing (and subsequent re-hiring) of its showrunner, and the controversial exits of a number of its prominent stars – including Chevy Chase and Donald Glover – the show stayed strong, resulting in an underdog success that provided a consistently fun, ultra-meta spin on the familiar sitcom format.

Created by Dan Harmon, the series starred Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong, many of whom have only continued to rise in fame since the acclaimed sitcom left NBC (and the short-lived Yahoo! Screen). But in addition to these familiar names, there were several other stars who made appearances — both brief and not — during the show's extended run. From John Oliver to Brie Larson, here are 10 actors you might have forgotten were on Community.

John Oliver (Ian Duncan)

John Oliver is best known nowadays as the host of HBO's Last Week Tonight, where he comedically recaps/breaks down some of the biggest news stories/political events of the past week. But when Community began, Oliver periodically appeared as Professor Ian Duncan, a psychology teacher at Greendale Community College who was close friends with Joel McHale's Jeff Winger. While Oliver was away from Community for awhile, he returned for several episodes in Season 5 – but he was absent again in Season 6 (as he was committed to the first season of his aforementioned talk show). Oliver's inconsistent time on Community was due to his involvement as the temporary host of The Daily Show when Jon Stewart was absent, which paved the way for his solo HBO series. Beyond the small screen, Oliver also voiced Zazu in 2019's The Lion King, starring fellow Community star Donald Glover.

Brie Larson (Rachel)

A few short years before her Oscar-winning performance in 2015's Room, and several years before she played the title role in Captain Marvel, Brie Larson appeared in a few episodes of Community — in the fourth and fifth seasons, specifically. Brie played Rachel, a love interest for Abed (Danny Pudi). While there were several elements from the fourth season (i.e. the Dan Harmon-less "gas leak" year) that didn't carry over into the last two seasons, Larson was one of the few newly-introduced characters who leaped into the showrunner's return. When Larson was introduced into Community, she was already an established actress, notably in the acclaimed indie Short Term 12. She also had prominent roles in The United States of Tara, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, 21 Jump Street, and The Spectacular Now. Since then, however, Larson has since been seen in Kong: Skull Island and Avengers: Endgame.

Kumail Nanjiani (Custodian Lapari)

Fans will remember 2014 as a big year for Kumail Nanjiani. After making brief and/or supporting roles in Saturday Night Live, The Colbert Report, The Five-Year Engagement, Veep, Drunk History, Burning Love, Franklin & Bash, and more, Nanjiani finally broke out with a main role in HBO's acclaimed Silicon Valley, and he had his own short-lived Comedy Central series, The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail. The actor-screenwriter gained more attention and exposure, thus continuing his Hollywood ascension and leading up to his Oscar-nominated work in the autobiographical dramedy, The Big Sick, and building up to roles in Men In Black: International, Stuber, The Twilight Zone, Dolittle, The Lovebirds and Marvel's upcoming The Eternals. As it happens, 2014 was also the year that Nanjiani made one of two guest star appearances on Community as Custodian Lapari, Greendale's deputy custodian, in the fifth and sixth seasons, respectively.

Tig Notaro (Bartender)

In 2012, Tig Notaro was a hard-working comedian with a hard luck story. A few days after she was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer, Notaro performed a brazen, deeply personal set at the Largo, which was subsequently released online. Shortly thereafter, it became a huge success, turning the deadpan comedian into an overnight sensation. Notaro received a double mastectomy and thankfully found herself on the road to recovery, thus propelling her career in show business. She's now a Grammy-nominated performer with credits including The Office, Bob's Burgers, New Girl, Star Trek: Discovery, Transparent, Instant Family, and more, as well as the documentary, Tig, and a short-lived autobiographical Amazon series, One Mississippi. Two years prior to all that, though, Notaro was seen in Community's second season as a bartender serving drinks to Allison Brie's Annie Edison while the Greendale student pretended to be a whole different person.

Adam DeVine (William "Willy" Winger Jr.)

In 2013, a couple years after Workaholics premiered on Comedy Central, and only a year after the release of Pitch Perfect, Adam DeVine appeared in Community's fourth season. Playing the part of William Winger Jr., a.k.a. Willy Jr., the half-brother of Jeff Winger, DeVine was a guest star on the NBC series. The appearance came at a mid-point in DeVine's career. Due to the growing popularity of Workaholics, DeVine was turning into a household name in the world of comedy, though this mid-period Community episode was before he transitioned into leading roles in movies like Game Over Man, Isn't It Romantic?, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and Jexi, as well as his principal role in HBO's The Righteous Gemstones and his leading role in Netflix's Green Eggs and Ham.

Brit Marling (Page)

When Brit Marling appeared in Community's second season, the actress/writer/producer was breaking out as an indie darling, having starred in, produced, and co-written two of the hottest movies at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival: Another Earth and Sound Of My Voice. In response to the acclaim for those two small-budget movies, Marling gained a few prominent acting roles, including the Community episode "Early 21st Century Romanticism" — which became Marling's first paid acting gig, by her own admission. Marling played Page, Britta's new friend whom she believes is a lesbian. This episode received attention for an on-screen kiss shared between Marling and Jacobs. Since her time on Community, Marling continues to expand he career as a multi-hyphenate, most notably with Netflix's cult-favorite sci-fi series, The OA. The mind-bending streaming series was cancelled after two seasons, though diehard fans are adamant about bringing it back.

Vince Gilligan (Devon)

Best known as the creator of AMC's masterful Breaking Bad and the co-creator of its exceptional spin-off series, Better Call Saul, Vince Gilligan has earned a wealth of acclaim as a writer, showrunner, producer, and director. But in 2014, Gilligan added his first acting credit to his resume when he appeared in the Community episode "VCR Maintenance and Educational Publishing," where the Emmy-winning writer-director played Devon, a struggling middle-aged actor and host of Pile of Bullets — a cheesy 1990s VCR-based video game. Other than a cameo on Comedy Bang Bang and an appearance as himself on What Just Happened??! with Fred Savage, Community was one of Gilligan's select few on-screen acting roles (he also did voice work for American Dad and Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero). He rarely appears on-camera outside of interviews. Therefore, if you didn't recognize Gilligan here, you're forgiven.

Drew Carey (Ted)

By the time Drew Carey appeared on Community, the actor-comedian-television personality was already a household name. Thanks to shows like The Drew Carey Show, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and, eventually, The Price Is Right, Carey was a familiar face to television audiences in the United States. Thus, it was a fun surprise to see him in the second season of the cult-favorite NBC series playing Ted, the head of the law firm Hamish, Hamish & Hamlin and Jeff's former boss. If you forgot that the game show host made a brief appearance on the program, that's understandable — especially since the character died off-camera in Season 3 (by Jeff's admission, at least). Nevertheless, Carey continues to be seen on The Price Is Right, though he recently took a break from the popular CBS series when his ex-fiancee was tragically murdered.

Paul Walter Hauser (Student #3)

In recent years, Paul Walter Hauser has stood out as one of our most impressive up-and-coming character actors. With strong supporting turns in BlacKkKlansman, I, Tonya, Cobra Kai, Late Night, Super Troopers 2, and the title role in last year's Richard Jewell, Hauser has stood out in parts big and small... although you would be forgiven if you missed him in Community. The actor made a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in the Season 2 episode, "Messianic Myths and Ancient Peoples." He was billed simply as "Student #3," though he has a line and modestly prominent screen-time. It was one of his first professional credits, and it paved the way for what we would see from him today — including upcoming roles in Cruella, Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods, and more. He's certainly an actor to watch for, especially after his outstanding performance in Clint Eastwood's newest.

Jack Black (Buddy Austin)

Unlike several other actors on this list, Jack Black was a well-established name when he walked onto Greendale's campus. The Golden Globe-nominated actor-musician is best known for School of Rock, Tropic Thunder, the Kung Fu Panda trilogy, Nacho Libre, High Fidelity, Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny, Goosebumps, and the recent Jumanji films, to name a few. He was a big get for the plucky NBC sitcom, playing the role of the hapless Buddy Austin, a would-be member of the study group. His brief mid-season role in the sitcom's first year was a splashy surprise, and it came at a point when Community was finding its groove (namely in the episode right after its first-ever mid-season break). As Community advanced into the more meta series fans know it for today, one could easily forget the surprises found in the first season — including Black's starry appearance.

In addition to these names listed above, Community also saw Randall Park, Nick Kroll, Martin Starr, Katharine McPhee, Matt Walsh, Eliza Coupe, Owen Wilson and other big name stars briefly roaming the halls of Greendale before the doors closed. Although the series was never a huge hit in the ratings department, nor was it ever the awards contender it should have been, the Dan Harmon-created meta-sitcom did have both critical acclaim and a devoted following in its favor. Back in February, Dr. Amie Harwick, a popular therapist and former girlfriend/ fiancée of Price Is Right host Drew Carey, was found dead just outside of her Hollywood Hills residence. Her ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse was quickly arrested and charged with both murder and burglary. Carey was very shook up after the tragic incident happened and took a week off, but he apparently decided very quickly that he was going to forgive the alleged murderer.

The story came out earlier this week during Carey’s appearance on The Talk. The former sitcom star and popular game show host said he wished it never happened but that you have to forgive people who have mental issues and traumatic pasts. Here’s a portion of his quote…

Following Carey’s time off, the first episode he returned to was for Kids Week. During a break in the taping, he decided to address the teenagers in attendance and let them know he’d forgiven the alleged murderer. No doubt people with different personalities will react differently to his decision not to hold on to his anger, but people need to move on in whatever way makes sense to them. Police arrived at Harwick’s residence back in February after fielding reports of a woman screaming. Her roommate said she was being assaulted inside the home they shared. Police later found her lying beneath a third story balcony with injuries consistent with a fall. She was pronounced dead later that day at a local hospital. She was only 38-years-old.

Carey and Harwick reportedly dated for around two years and were engaged for the last several months of their relationship. They called off the wedding but reportedly split on pretty good terms. After it ended, she reportedly started dating Pursehouse, though the relationship reportedly did not end well. She filed for a restraining order, though it had expired at the time of her murder.

Earlier this week, Pursehouse pled not guilty to the charges against him. He initially posted a two million dollar bail following his arrest back in February, but according to CBS, he was rearrested 4 days later and taken into custody, where he has remained since. At this point, it’s unclear what evidence the state has against Pursehouse, but given how quickly he was arrested and the witnesses who called 911, they must feel they have everything they need.

In the wake of Dr. Amie Harwick’s death, The Price is Right host Drew Carey shared a tearful tribute to his ex-fiancée during his SiriusXM show. The famed Hollywood family and marriage therapist, who appeared in the documentary Addicted to Sexting, was murdered by ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse in the early hours of February 15. Carey chose to honor and remember her with a set of music they both listened to when they were together.

Drew Carey and Amie Harwick confirmed their engagement back in 2018 before breaking it off shortly after. Still, Carey called the love he and Harwick shared as being “once in a lifetime.” While the former Whose Line is it Anyway? host is currently grieving the loss of his ex-fiancée, he took a moment at the end of his SiriusXM show, Drew Carey’s Friday Night Freak-Out, to dedicate a set of songs to her. Here’s what he had to say in tribute to Harwick:

During the SiriusXM broadcast, Drew Carey tearfully recalled telling Harwick about the music set he made for her at the time and how they’d sing the words of the songs to each other. The host mentioned that he’s not in the right headspace to entertain anyone at the moment, but that he felt the need to share the music that meant so much to him and Harwick before signing off. In his words:

The Price Is Right is as much of a weekday morning staple as tall cups of coffee and heavy traffic. However, the hit ViacomCBS game show has temporarily hit pause on production for the week so that host Drew Carey can comfortably grieve following the death of his ex-fiancée Amie Harwick.

Though the game show usually tapes a week's run of episodes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at its Television City home in Los Angeles, The Price Is Right sent out emails to ticket-holders alerting them to the news that filming would be postponed for this week. On Saturday, February 15, Drew Carey and many others in Hollywood were shocked to learn of the death of the popular family and sex therapist Amie Harwick, familiar to those who watched the 2015 documentary Addicted to Sexting. Carey and Harwick dated and got engaged to get married back in January 2018. Alas, their engagement ended before the wedding vows could be shared, as the couple split up in November of that same year. It was an amicable break-up, though, and the two stayed friends up until the time of her death.

After the news broke about The Price Is Right's production being halted, Drew Carey issued this statement through TMZ:

Police were called to a Hollywood Hills residence on Saturday morning by Amie Harwick's roommate, who told them Harwick was being assaulted inside their home. The therapist was then found on the ground beneath her third-story balcony, suffering from injuries consistent with a fall.

Amie Harwick's ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse was arrested on Saturday afternoon and was charged with murder. Until very recently, Harwick had a restraining order against him, and had shared her fears with others that he might hurt her. Police say evidence within Harwick's home implied someone forced their way inside, and there were also signs of a struggle. They also viewed surveillance footage from the neighborhood for identification purposes.

After the news of Harwick's death went public, Drew Carey shared the below post in her memory.

Dr. Amie Harwick, a marriage and family therapist based out of Hollywood who appeared in the documentary Addicted to Sexting and was once engaged to The Price is Right host Drew Carey, was killed this past Saturday at her home in Hollywood Hills. Her ex-boyfriend has been arrested in connection with her death, per the Los Angeles Police Department. Harwick was 38 years old.

According to a statement from the LAPD (via Deadline), on February 15 at around 1:16 a.m., officers came to Amie Harwick’s home in response to a call of a “woman screaming.” When the officers arrived, they were Harwick’s roommate, who informed them that Harwick was being assaulted inside the home, and that she’d been able to escape by jumping over a wall and going over to a neighbor’s house to call for help.

When officers discovered Amie Harwick, she was laying unresponsive on the ground below a third-story balcony, and her injuries were consistent with those sustained from a fall. Further investigation show evidence that there’d been a struggle upstairs and forced entry into the home. Although Harwick was taken to the hospital, she soon after died from her injuries.

LAPD officers learned that Amie Harwick had “recently expressed fear” about her ex-boyfriend, 41-year-old Galen Pursehouse. While she’d filed a restraining order against him, it had since expired, and she was seen with him weeks earlier. Later that Saturday at 4:30 p.m., Pursehouse was arrested outside his home in Playa del Rey by FBI-LAPD Fugitive Task Force members. According to NBC News, Pursehouse’s case will be presented to prosecutors on Wednesday.

In addition to appearing in various interviews and TV shows, Amie Harwick also provided commentary in Addicted to Sexting, which came out in 2015 and looked at the “ rise and proliferation of this social phenomenon from several varying perspectives,” as well as studied how the lives of people engaged in it were affected. Harwick also wrote the book The New Sex Bible for Women, and she had a YouTube channel where she discussed topics relating to psychotherapy and reasons people seek therapy.

As for Amie Harwick’s connection to Drew Carey, it was confirmed at the beginning of 2018 that the two of them had become engaged, but they broke things off less than a year later. Harwick had said on the Holly Randall Unfiltered podcast that Carey (whose other notable credits include The Drew Carey Show, Whose Line is it Anyway? and a guest spot on NCIS a few years back and even The Masked Singer) had been incredibly supportive of her when she was being bombarded by negative comments on social media when they were together.

For many people, CBS' The Price Is Right has long been as much of a morning TV staple as the news, soap operas and cartoons. From Bob Barker's run to the Drew Carey era, the financially minded game show has captured the attention spans of every kind of viewer out there. For all the success that The Price Is Right has experienced here in the U.S., however, the show doesn't have nearly the same global syndication reach as other shows such as Wheel of Fortune. But why?

Host Drew Carey answered that Price Is Right question you didn't even know you were curious about during a recent appearance on the always fascinating podcast Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, which is clearly hosted by Bless This Mess star Dax Shepard. No, it's not because big wheels roll better here. According to Carey, the American version of the show has simply gotten too fancy with its prizes. In his words:

There you have it, people. We as Americans are simply too opulent with our game show prizes, to the point where countries around the world have had to balk at crafting localized version of The Price Is Right. Not the most humble or humanitarian reason, to be sure, but I suppose there's still some pride to be had in this country's dedication to giving cars away on TV.

As longtime fans are well aware, The Price Is Right has always been loyal to some of its brands, and it's been a common enough occurrence for a pallet of Rice-a-Roni boxes to serve as a prize. (Getting a year's supply of any product on a game show has always fascinated me.) But as the years have gone by, many of the simpler prizes and collections have been usurped by much pricier options.

Plus, The Price Is Right has introduced primetime specials into its regular lineup, and you know going primetime means the prizes need to be that much more impressive and extravagant. Which, in turn, makes it that much harder for another country to fund their own take on The Price Is Right. Currently, the reported list of countries with their own versions of the game show includes Argentina, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Portugal, and Lebanon. (I wonder if it's easier to pay for trips to European and Asian countries when your show is actually based there.)

Drew Carey had a lot of fun stories to tell and insights to dish out during his Armchair Expert appearance. He talked about the Price Is Right contestant whose bids all included "420" in them, because weed jokes. As well, he revealed the problem with trying to play Let's Make a Deal in Las Vegas. It turns out literally everyone takes the guaranteed $40 without caring about what's behind any numbered doors, since guaranteed money means gambling.

The Masked Singer goes to extreme lengths to keep the participants secret so their identities aren't exposed ahead of a new season. Keeping that secret is no easy task for celebrities, who often have to lie to those closest to them to protect the integrity of the show. The Llama found himself in this exact predicament in the early stages of Season 3, and had to pretend he hated the series to keep friends from being suspicious.

As those who watched the episode already know, The Llama was Drew Carey. The Price Is Right host revealed that he ran into trouble keeping that secret during the Season 3 premiere, but ultimately managed to throw his friends off the trail with some quick thinking.

Drew Carey managed to get The Masked Singer turned off at his party, and potentially averted the disaster of one of the partygoers outing him as The Llama. Hopefully anyone at the event upset that Carey was so adamant on switching the show off now understands, and forgives The Masked Singer contestant for "hating" one of Fox's hottest shows.

Even the seemingly easy things Drew Carey had to do to fulfill his duties as The Llama were difficult. As luck would have it, The Masked Singer doesn't film all that far away from his day job, but of course working in such proximity greatly increased Carey's risk of exposure. Once again, The Llama had to get crafty to avoid suspicion.

The Masked Singer sounds like a really stressful experience to begin with, and this interview Drew Carey did with Billboard doesn't help that image. Of course, these celebrities do it all for the fans, who typically figure everything out within the first few episodes of the season. Luckily, Season 3 is combating that just a bit this year by staggering the contestant groups so that they aren't all shown in the early episodes. It's a solid solution, especially since making the clues tougher doesn't seem to be working.

Anybody who gets the chance to take the stage on a popular game show like The Price is Right certainly has a reason to be excited. One recent contestant's glee almost caused a complete catastrophe, though, and she came very close to flinging host Drew Carey right off the stage. You can't blame someone for getting that pumped up, right? I mean, The Price is Right is just about the best game show to go on to try and win quick cash without a whole lot of background knowledge needed. The real challenge, for some, is actually making it to the prize rounds without seriously injuring one's self and/or the show's host. Nobody wants to have to use game winnings to pay off hospitals and insurance companies, amirite?

In this clip, the jazzed-up-to-the-roof Sona got called up and managed to give Drew Carey a half-embrace while she was jumping up and down. It would have all been fine had that been the extent of it, but for a split-second, Sona drew her legs up as if Carey was meant to be carrying her across a threshold, and since the host was completely unaware that it was going to happen, he lost his footing. Carey not only came close to falling off the stage, but he could have seriously injured himself on that raised row of lights on the stage's edge. Those hard edges are less forgiving than a Plinko board.

Just imagine the cacophony if Sona would have known she was playing for a new car whenever she first got up there. She would have done cartwheels on his head! And it seems to me like announcer George Gray should have been very happy that he was off by himself (wherever game show announcers do their thing) rather than anywhere near contestant Sona whenever he told her to "Come on down" as a new contestant. She might have hopped on his back and tumbled with him down the stairs.

Unfortunately, Sona didn't get to win the car during that round, since her price-picking skills were not at all up to snuff. But she did walk away with $3,000 for her troubles, along with a spectacular story and video clip to tell her friends and family about. And at least Sona wasn't the person who tried to run up on stage after losing the One Bid round.

Drew Carey is undoubtedly best known for playing comedic roles or appearing as himself on the small screen. Carey starred in The Drew Carey Show for nine seasons and has been host of The Price Is Right on CBS since back in 2007. Now, he has landed a role on another CBS show, although he won't be cracking joke after joke or hosting a game show. NCIS has cast Drew Carey to play a suspected murderer.

Here's what's happening. Drew Carey has signed on to play a character by the name of Marine Sergeant John Ross in an upcoming episode of the ongoing fifteenth season of NCIS. John Ross retired from his work as a Marine Sergeant and now spends his days shipping care packages to active-duty servicemen, which is just about the last thing you'd expect from a murder suspect. He lands himself under investigation for murder after one of those care packages is discovered to contain cookies laced with cyanide, which... seems much more like something that would happen on NCIS.

The good news for fans of Drew Carey is that his character doesn't seem likely to be the actual murderer. John Ross will be set on helping Gibbs and the rest of the NCIS team to solve the mystery of who sent the cyanide cookies, presumably to both clear his own name and catch a killer. Obviously we can't rule out a twist that reveals Carey's character as the killer all along, but it's easier to imagine Drew Carey playing a lovable and respectable character than a bad guy. Carey will appear as a guest star, so we can only count on a single appearance from him at this time.

NCIS showrunners Frank Cardea and George Schenck evidently had Drew Carey's lovable nature in mind when they cast him. According to Deadline, they were looking for someone who could tackle the outgoing and passionate side of the character as well as "the dark reality" that his many years as a prisoner of war still haunt him. They describe the episode as "powerful" and "heart-warming," which leads me to believe that we'll get as happy an ending as is possible for an hour that starts with cyanide-laced cookies. Interestingly, Drew Carey served in the Marine Reserves from 1980-1986. He really could be the perfect person to tackle this role for NCIS.

One recent competitor on The Price Is Right was clearly a big fan of the show, and his trip to the Plinko field had him so excited that even host Drew Carey seemed a little dazzled. I don't think I've ever wanted to high five somebody as much as I want to high five Ryan after watching this video. His enthusiasm as he leads the crowd in chants of "Ryan! Ryan!" and "Number 5! Number 5!" is pretty contagious, and his adrenaline seems so amped up that I have to wonder if he's still racing around on the high of his $31,500 payday. Drew Carey, who has seen everything from a guy air humping after a win to Jack Black getting slapped in the face, seemed at a loss for words. What a great two minutes for everybody involved!

If it seems like Ryan got worked up pretty quickly in this video, it's only because the clip cuts out his road to victory. He won the first round when his three competitors all overestimated the price of a camera, which prompted him to go on his first jubilant race around the studio, and the excitement only built when he found out he would be playing Plinko. I imagine that his yells of "OH MY GOD!" are still echoing throughout the room.

Then, he had to earn the Plinko chips. He got one right off the bat, but he had to put his guessing skills to the test four more times to win the next four chips. Ryan nailed the prices for a vacuum sealer, a water flosser (which is apparently a thing), an electric cast iron cooker, and a $26 electric pencil sharpener. All of this before he even started dropping the Plinko chips! Congratulations to Ryan on his exciting Price Is Right run. This will certainly be a story to tell the grandkids.

Interestingly, Ryan seemed to be following Drew Carey's advice about how to dominate Plinko. He certainly didn't score his $31,500 because of another broken Plinko board. From where I'm sitting, it looks like his wins came via skill, luck, and sheer giddiness. Luckily for him, the final Plinko round has been posted online and he'll be able to go on a blast from the past whenever he wants. Good for him!

One woman recently had the chance to win big on The Price Is Right; unfortunately, however, she made a little mistake that she may never be able to forget. Contestant Grace called host Drew Carey by the wrong name, and it was pretty funny. Take a look!

Well, if Drew Carey was starting to feel like he'd stepped out of Bob Barker's shadow as host of The Price Is Right, Grace may have just put him in his place. She didn't even seem to realize that she'd called him by the wrong name at first. In a way, the flub speaks highly of her focus on the task at hand. Did she accidentally confuse Drew Carey with Bob Barker despite the fact that Carey has been the Price Is Right host for nearly a decade? Sure. But all's fair in love, war, and game shows, and Carey barely even missed a beat after he registered that she'd mistaken his name.

This clip really solidifies my love for Drew Carey as a comedian. He could have reacted in a way that made her look ridiculously foolish or turned the entire exchange into something painfully awkward. Instead, he laughed it off, cracked a joke, and amusingly introduced himself to poor Grace. She was clearly mortified once she realized what she'd done; kudos to Carey for bringing the laughs without making her feel awful for calling him by the wrong name. It's not easy being a game show host, but Drew Carey makes it look effortless. All the sick kids home from school and watching probably got a kick out of it.

Hopefully Grace has watched enough of The Price Is Right over the years to know that she's far from the only person who has been slightly less than smooth on stage. At least she didn't break part of the set, wipe out on a treadmill, have to admit that she barely understands the rules, or introduce herself as "a student of education in college." Honestly, even Aaron Paul looked a little goofier during his first and second times on The Price Is Right. All things considered, it could have gone much worse for poor Grace.

It's probably not a stretch to say that most people who watch game shows don't give too much thought to the hosts. Sure, we might watch partly to see Drew Carey, Steve Harvey, Wayne Brady, Alec Baldwin and their ilk crack jokes and congratulate winners, but many game show fans likely don't give much thought to how much work goes into hosting a show like The Price Is Right. Viewers are so caught up in watching the game unfold that they don't give much thought to all the moving parts involved that require the attention of the host at any given time. Well, one executive producer for that long-running game show, Mike Richards, has revealed what the hardest part of hosting actually is.

Phew. I have to admit, I've gotten a little overwhelmed just thinking about trying to juggle that many deals, games and assorted other game show factors and all I have to do is read about what a host has to deal with. Mike Richards spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about what it really takes to be a good game show host, and, to him, it means mastering the difficulty of not only knowing your game through and through, but handling all the tension, the time limits and the expectations of the contestants as they play.

Mike Richards should know how hard it is to stand in front of a live studio audience and keep a game show running smoothly. He was an executive producer on The Price Is Right from 2009-2016 and held the same job on Let's Make a Deal from 2009-2015. He also hosted The Pyramid in 2012 and currently hosts GSN's new game show Divided. I would have thought that the hardest part of being a game show host would be dealing with people when they lose or get answers wrong, but it turns out that those things are just the tip of a very complicated game show iceberg where the host basically has to keep eyes, ears, and a lot of mental energy attuned to every aspect of the show.

Well, I just gained a whole new respect for the Alex Trebeks and Chuck Woolerys of the world. I'll certainly be more likely to pay attention to the host of any game show I watch next; it turns out that those fine men and women really deserve it.

Jack Black has become known as a modern master of slapstick comedy over the course of his lengthy career on the silver screen. The Tenacious D frontman has hilariously battled Mexican luchadors, tumbled down raging rapids, and even taken a burrito to the face while driving a motorcycle in a fan-favorite Anchorman scene. However, the comedian's recent appearance on The Price Is Right took the idea of slapstick a bit too literally, as an ecstatic contestant on the game show slapped the iconic comedy actor directly in the face during a failed attempt at a high-five. I have to give Jack Black quite a bit of credit; he takes that hit like a champion and plays it for humorous effect. The video makes it pretty clear that he definitely did not expect to get hit in the face while celebrating that moment on The Price Is Right, but he took the moment and ran with it like a complete comedy professional. Of course, all is well that ends well, as Jack Black quickly received an apology from the contestant who slapped him in the face. Now that the guy has a little extra money in his pocket, he may have some free time to work on the accuracy of his high-fives. He seriously looks like he could use some help in that regard.

Game shows have a delightful habit of providing us with these hilariously unscripted moments, and The Price Is Right has become one of the most reliable sources of game show humor over the course of the last few decades. Jack Black's head injury represents the latest in a long line of awkward incidents to take place on the set of the iconic show, but in recent years we have seen terrible bids, fantastic celebratory dances, and even unexpected celebrity cameos from performers such as Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul. The Price Is Right has become a complete and utter cultural institution over the course of the last 45 years, and we have a feeling that it will be around for at least another 45.
