Fans of the cable TV hit Duck Dynasty (which is streamable with a Hulu subscription) have been anticipating the long running A&E reality series’ return on the 2025 TV schedule. With the aptly titled Duck Dynasty: The Revival set to debut this summer, the Robertson clan will be doing what they do best in their original small-screen space. Sadly, this new chapter will see the family without patriarch Phil Robertson; who recently passed at the age of 79. While Robertson is gone, he's certainly not forgotten though.

Phil Roberton's daughter-in-law, Korie Robertson, recently opened up to the New York Post about the declining condition of the former president of family business Duck Commander. As these remarks were shared prior to Phil's death, Korie’s take on his what would be his final days were heartbreaking but sweet:

With the third series in the franchise, after the Fox Nation series Duck Family Treasure, being a hotly talked about prospect, Phil Robertson's absence as a key player in The Revival was already a significant topic of discussion As the report above cited, “multiple health conditions - including Alzheimer’s disease” were the factors that had led to the reality star’s decline.

That last concern in particular seemed to be present in Korie Robertson’s account, as the wife of Phil’s son and former Masked Singer contestant, Willie Robertson, offered these sentiments on his condition days prior to his death:

It’s not all sadness however, as one of Duck Dynasty’s commanding presences did have what seemed to be a final message of hope. Rounding off her interview, Korie Robertson mentioned that bittersweet moment between Phil and her daughter, Sadie:

Someone might interpret that as the late Phil Robertson telling his granddaughter that while his time in life was drawing near, the work must continue. With that message comes an implied confidence that the family he left behind will be able to keep Duck Dynasty: The Revival, and the business that it focuses on, afloat in a way he’d approve of.

While losing a loved one leaves us with such grief, moments like this one really count in an hour of need. And, though the Robertson family has enjoyed time out of the spotlight, sharing these accounts not only helps fans pay tribute, it also offers a catharsis for the family that experienced it.

One of cable TV’s founding families of reality television, Duck Dynasty’s Robertson family haven’t appeared on TV as a full clan since the wildly popular A&E series wrapped up its eleventh and final season in March 2017. Now, a little over a month after Willie Robertson opened up about the health problems that patriarch Phil has been dealing with, nearly everyone is getting the (duck) call to return to the small screen for an official Duck Dynasty revival set to debut on the 2025 TV schedule.

When And Where Will The New Duck Dynasty Show Premiere?

While no locked-in dates have been announed just yet, the Louisiana-based series will once again air on its former home of A&E, with 20 episodes ordered up that will be split across two seasons. And now that we're in the streaming era, the network is making sure that the Robertsons are also included. After each season's conclusion, the ten-episode run will be available on a major streaming platform that has yet to be revealed. (Past episodes are currently available with a Hulu subscription.

As far as the timing goes, the plan is for Duck Dynasty's first revivial season to drop at some point during Summer 2025, with an exact date to be unveiled at a later point. The all-encompassing show follows the Fox Nation spinoff Duck Family Treasure, which started up in 2022.

Who Will The Revival Season Focus On?

Considering the "dynasty" of the show's title, it should surprise no one that the majority of the Robertson family will be back in front of the camera for the pair of new seasons. Of course Willie and Korie will anchor the show, along with their ever-growing number of children and grandchildren, as the family decides the best way to continue expanding the Duck Commander brand all while dealing with other updates in their marriages, offspring, and professional lives.

According to A&E:

Sharing his own reaction to the revival order, Willie and Korie said in a statement that returning to A&E "feels a little like going back home." Which makes sense, considering they'll still technically be at home when the show is filming.

Phil Robertson Is Not Listed As A Cast Member

The biggest absence by way of the announced cast is, of course, the head of the fam Phil Robertson. But considering the health update that Jase shared with fans in a December episode of his and Phil's podcast Unashamed, it's perhaps not so surprising that he isn't in a place where filming for TV makes sense. According to Jase at the time:

According to Jase, the deteriorating health issues stemmed from whatever blood disease he is suffering from, and that he is now in the "early stages" of Alzheimer's Disease. He stated at the time that the family have been very supportive in trying to keep him comfortable while hoping to stave off memory issues for as long as possible.

Even if he isn't formally around on the new Duck Dynasty series, you can be sure that Willie, Korie and all the rest will share stories and updates about him when the time is right, both on the show and off.

It’s safe to say that back in 2012, nobody could have expected the Robertsons of A&E’s reality series Duck Dynasty to blow up the way it did. Phil Robertson and his camo-clad progeny were absolutely everywhere. However, instead of riding the reality show wave as far as it could take them, the Robertsons made the choice to end the series in 2017. Could Duck Dynasty have lasted as long as other TV families like, say, the Kardashians or the Duggars? We’ll never know, but two of its stars — Sadie Robertson and her mom Korie — spoke out recently about why calling it quits when they did was a good thing.

It didn’t take long for viewers to jump on the Duck Dynasty bandwagon, becoming obsessed with the Louisiana family who sported long beards, strong opinions and goofy catchphrases. A&E was undoubtedly happy, too, as the series became the network’s highest-rated program. In the years since the Robertsons decided to pull the plug, the family members have moved onto other projects, and it sounds like Korie Robertson has no regrets about the decision. She told E! News: 

Back in late 2013, Duck Dynasty lost some of its shine with the audience, after Phil Robertson condemned “homosexual behavior” in an interview with GQ, leading to his suspension from the series. The damage was already done, however, and when Season 6 premiered in June 2014, there was a huge drop in ratings. The controversy may have lost some viewers, but it wasn’t a death sentence for the show, which continued another few years before the Robertsons announced they’d be ending the series after 11 seasons.

Sadie Robertson, who was a teenager when the show started and is now a mom of two, agreed with mother Korie that pulling the plug on Duck Dynasty allowed the Robertsons to tackle new projects. She said: 

Duck Dynasty may have gone off the air six years ago, but the Robertsons haven’t completely disappeared. For Sadie Robertson, the growth she spoke of turned into another show with her parents, At Home with the Robertsons, for Facebook Watch in 2021. She’s also authored a book with her husband, a 90-day devotional called How to Put Love First. 

Korie Robertson also became an author, releasing a parenting book, Strong and Kind: Raising Kids of Character, in 2017.

Willie Robertson starred in Buck Commander until 2019 and also was the Mallard on Season 6 of The Masked Singer.  Jase, Jep and Uncle Si Robertson, meanwhile, got their own Duck Dynasty spinoff last year — Duck Family Treasure — with its second season airing earlier this summer on Fox Nation.

The Robertsons captured lightning in a bottle with Duck Dynasty, so it makes sense that they’ve moved on to see what other projects they could tackle. It sounds like there are no regrets — at least as far as Sadie and Korie Robertson are concerned, and we’ll keep an eye out for where those Louisiana natives pop up next. In the meantime, Duck Dynasty is available to stream with a Hulu subscription. 

With the long weekend and activities ranging from boating to barbecues, it’s easy for the casual layman to put what Memorial Day is really about on the backburner. That’s not true for the former Masked Singer and Duck Dynasty or current Duck Family Treasure star Willie Robertson, who recently shared more solemn thoughts about the holiday and how, for him, it ties in heavily with his faith. 

The star, who recently returned to TV thanks to the Fox Nation series, spoke to Fox News this weekend to explain how he personally ties in Memorial Day with the teachings he learned from the gospel. He noted the sacrifice of soldiers everywhere “should never be forgotten” in comments made just ahead of the holiday. 

It’s worth remembering that Duck Dynasty star Si Robertson did formerly serve in the military, and was a part of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While he made it through his service tenure and gets his own nod on Veteran’s Day, the family have always been big proponents of Memorial Day, with Si noting in the past he strongly feels that “freedom is not free. Someone always has to pay the bill, and Memorial Day is what that’s all about.”

Willie Robertson echoed his uncle’s comments in his own faith-based comments, noting how he feels about Americans paying for freedom.  

To note though, having a moment of remembrance for those who have lost loved ones does not have to be the only activity one does on Memorial Day. Clearly there’s a little room for barbecue too, as Robertson also shared a post of him by the grill on the holiday weekend. I dunno about you, but I’m still surprised every time I see Willie with short hair, even still.

Memorial Day isn’t the only time Willie Robertson has been open about how his faith ties into his everyday life. He and his wife Korie recently wrapped on the movie The Blind, which is a faith-based film about his father Phil Robertson who found faith after struggling early on in his life. (Though Phil has had some controversial moments in the time since.) The Blind will hit the 2023 new movie release schedule on September 22, 2023. 

In the five years since Duck Dynasty ended its sizeable and successful run on A&E in 2017, the Robertson family certainly hasn’t been laying around and resting on their camouflaged laurels. From TV spinoffs to scripted roles to podcasts, this fam is aware that their fanbase hasn’t gone away. Execs at Fox Nation are keenly aware of that fact, with the company serving as a streaming home for Duck Dynasty repeats, so it makes perfect sense that the service is setting up a set of brand new adventures in the form of the new series Duck Family Treasure. (Not to be confused with the 1990 animated feature DuckTales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, at least I assume.)

Duck Family Treasure will essentially follow along with the foursome of Jase, Jep And Uncle Si Robertson, along with history expert Murray Crowe, as they try to hunt down buried treasure. (So it’s basically the kind of show that every 5-to-10-year-old would bend over backwards to be part of.) For each episode, the fam and historian will seek out hidden treasures, valuable artifacts and much more, though the announcement is keeping things vague on that front as far as what they’ll be seeking. I’m guessing it won’t be anything on the scale of “a diamond necklace buried beneath the Titanic’s wreckage,” but it should still be fun to see what they’re trying to track down. Especially if there are cool looking maps involved. 

As Jase, Jep and Uncle Si go from destination to destination, they won’t just be seeking treasures, but will also be shining a spotlight on the cities and town they travel through, as well as the people who live there. And you can bet they’ll be learning some important life lessons along the way as well.  

For those hoping to see other members of the Robertson clan, you’re in luck. The announcement confirms that Missy and Jessica Robertson will appear with their respective husbands Jase and Jep. As well, “other members” of the family will be featured, though no other names were specifically mentioned. You’d think the show would want to promote Phil or Willie if they’re involved, or even Miss Kay (who suffered a scary dog attack in 2021), so perhaps those stars won’t be popping by for at least the first seasonal outing. 

The new Robertson-starring series was announced by Fox Nation president Jason Klarman, who seems pumped to keep the Duck Dynasty fandom sated with new outings from the beloved stars. Here’s how he put it:

The Fox Nation tie-in also makes sense due to Willie Robertson having a podcast going for Fox News for a while around the time of Duck Dynasty’s final season. He also went on to appear on Fox’s The Masked Singer last year, where he talked to CinemaBlend about starting up a YouTube channel and how his growing family took priority over TV work for a while. Speaking of podcasts, Phil and Jase have their own through Blaze Media called Unashamed with Phil & Jase Robertson, though it’s unclear if the new show will affect that run or not.

Meanwhile, Sadie Robertson survived both FluRona and a rat infection, and is still going strong with her own WHOA That’s Good pod series. The latter is also presumably still in the process of turning her YA novel Life Just Got Real into a scripted series, which possibly ties into why she may not be involved in the new show. 

For now, Fox Nation is prepping for Duck Family Treasure to kick off its ten-episode season starting in June 2022, so get ready for that. And while waiting, head to our 2022 TV premiere schedule to see what other new and returning shows are on the way soon.

Over the course of Duck Dynasty’s lengthy 11-season run on A&E, fans saw some crazy shenanigans (and more than a few, quite frankly, gross occurrences like dog bites). There was the mud cover for deer hunting and someone accidentally spraying themselves with “doe urine.” (Don't ask me how they procured that one.) There was also the notorious funeral for Earl the pet squirrel after a cottonmouth snake killed it. The shenanigans apparently continue to this day, too – just not of their own making. One of the show's former stars, Sadie Robertson, is now dealing with a rat infestation after an unfortunate bout of FluRona.

As we know now, unsuspecting individuals can actually catch both the traditional flu and coronavirus at the same time (hence: FluRona). Sadie Robertson shared on her Instagram recently that she was one of the unluckies to get the double whammy sickness, forcing her to quarantine away from her husband Christian Huff and their 6-month-old daughter, Honey. The Duck Dynasty third generation alum has since recovered, but she revealed that her situation seemingly only got worse later on. She wrote in the Instagram post:

Rats plus FluRona certainly takes the cake for worst combo one could imagine. But several other celebs and reality TV stars have been catching the illness, as well – although it is uncertain whether people have the normal fare, FluRona or one of the up-ticking variants like omicron. For example, George Lopez had a bit of a scare. Two co-hosts from The View are out of commission due to the virus. Likewise, Below Deck star Dani Soares from the Bravo network conveyed that she and her infant were both sick with COVID-19 over the holidays.

But the industrious clan are apparently soldiering on, despite the cancellation of their longtime show and notwithstanding illness. Willie Robertson not only trimmed down his infamous long hair, but he also had a fun spin on Fox’s The Masked Singer. And he might just consider returning to television again, as a result. His now-24-year-old daughter Sadie, who grew up on the show, added that catching FluRona actually made her strength in her faith grow “so much.” You can see her full post here:

Sadie Robertson has also turned her lemons into lemonade, elsewhere. After her family's show ended in 2017, she went on to write her own YA novel called Life Just Got Real. The premise is very close to home in that it's about two teens on a reality show. It's now being made into a scripted series, with Robertson at the helm as a producer.

The Duck Dynasty alum might then be considered on a good track, even with a rat infestation and run-in with FluRona. On the upside, too, I think she has new material for her next story…

The Masked Singer said goodbye to a member of reality TV royalty recently, as Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson was revealed to be Season 6’s Mallard. The reveal was a pleasant surprise for fans of the Robertson family, especially since they aren’t on television as much as they once were. With that said, could this recent television stint be a sign of more efforts to come? 

I talked to Willie Robertson following the latest episode of The Masked Singer and wanted to know if more was in the cards for his TV comeback, as it were. While keeping things a bit cryptic and unofficial, Robertson noted that earlier in the year, he had no idea he was going to spend weeks singing in front of millions of people on Fox. In his words:

Willie Robertson will certainly be busy populating his YouTube channel with new videos, but as mentioned, he’s open to hearing out any opportunities that come up in the future. Of course, we can only begin to speculate on what that could mean if the right project came along, but the fact that he’s willing to entertain the topic should be enough for Duck Dynasty fans excited about the prospect of watching Robertson and his ever-growing family yet again.

Whatever happens, don't be surprised if The Masked Singer ends up having some inspirational impact on Willie Robertson's professional future. He confessed that he’s feeling good after how he performed on the Fox competition series, so there’s a chance that he could find a way to incorporate musical performances into whatever new projects he works on next. 

Willie Robertson’s stint on The Masked Singer was impressive, especially given the guesses the panel gave when trying to figure out his identity. The panel guessed country stars like Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton, when all along it was one of the guys from Duck Dynasty wearing that duck costume. Compliments like that will make anyone not known for their singing feel a little better about their talents and perhaps even optimistic about making live performances a legitimate part of their already successful career.

The Masked Singer Season 6 is off to a great start and already revealed some big names in the first two episodes. It would appear that this season really upped the ante in terms of star power (as evidenced by Dalmatian's reveal as rapper Tyga), and that includes The Mallard, who is a pretty famous former reality television star who folks may know.

I have a very strong suspicion of The Mallard's identity, but after my failed guess with Mother Nature, I can't declare anything with 100% certainty. With that being said, there are a ton of clues that add up for Mallard, and all signs point toward his identity as none other than Duck Dynasty's Willie Robertson. Let's go through the evidence below, which was all found in his debut performance.

He's Dressed Like A Duck

Costumes for The Masked Singer contestants aren't always this on the nose, but in the case of the Mallard, the duck costume certainly is. All the panelists are hung up on Mallard being a country singer, and it'll be a real "duh" moment when he's unmasked and reveals that he's Willie Robertson. Ducks are a big part of what he and his family are known for, so no surprise he'd opt for that look if he had any say in the costume design.

Willie Robertson Has A Best-Selling Book And Platinum Album

Mallard's "platinum album" clue was definitely intended to steer The Masked Singer viewers in the direction of a country singer, but Willie Robertson also has a platinum album. Duck The Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas is the family's certified platinum Christmas album and features performances with Luke Bryan, George Strait, and other country music icons. As for the best-selling book mentioned in the clue package, Willie Robertson has a best-selling book he co-wrote with his wife (alongside writer Mark Schlabach) called The Duck Commander Family.

Willie Robertson Is Friends With Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt appeared in a picture (not dressed as Mario, unfortunately) in Mallard's clue package, and the frame around it had the abbreviation for "best friends forever." It only took a bit of searching to uncover that Chris Pratt has hung out with Willie Robertson before in his town of Monroe, Louisiana. Pratt said he went frog hunting with Robertson and the gang, and referred to Robertson as his friend. That's about all the evidence I need to peg Mallard, but there's still more to share!

Willie Robertson Has Told The Mallard's "Human Jukebox" And Worm Farm Story

The final nail in the coffin on Mallard's identity is that Willie Robertson has told the stories about his first job as a worm farmer and how he made money on the school bus as a human jukebox. There's a chance that Mallard is someone else who had the exact same experiences in life, but the chance is very slim. I think with 98% certainty that we can shut the door on this mystery and say that Mallard is Willie Robertson.

Willie Robertson and the rest of the Duck Dynasty clan have been notable for their epic beards over the years, but they are also willing to give credit when credit is due. Now, following the death of longtime ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill, who died earlier this week, Robertson is paying tribute to the famous musician, as well as sharing memories about the OG beard grower.

Willie Robertson actually spent time with Dusty Hill on more than one occasion. In a brand new interview, he recalled how ZZ Top was actually the first show he ever went to as a child. Later on as an adult, he was able to spend time with the band on more than one occasion, even as part of the Duck Dynasty show.

Just a couple of years ago, Willie Robertson was present for ZZ Top’s 50th anniversary celebration and told Fox News that it was a celebration of all things beards, but also a celebration of getting to do the thing you love well into your seventies.

ZZ Top famously appeared on Duck Dynasty during the show’s run and was a part of the Season 11 and series finale in which they performed the hit single “Sharp Dressed Man.” Fans of the show will remember that song doubled as the theme song through the show’s run on A&E. You can see the now-infamous moment below.

To note, Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson cut off his long hair fairly recently, but he kept his precious long beard. He wasn’t the only major name to pay tribute to Dusty Hill this week after news broke he’d died in his sleep at the age of 72. Other famous names also paid tribute, including prominent musicians like Queen’s Brian May and other names in the world of entertainment, like Jason Momoa.

Prior to Dusty Hill's passing, he had been dealing with hip issues while the band toured. Earlier this month Elwood Francis had begun playing for him onstage while Hill went home to recover. He died days later Bandmate Billie Gibbons confirmed that Dusty would have wanted the show to go on without him and that the band will continue touring as ZZ Top.

It’s been a few days since Phil Robertson and the rest of the Unashamed gang revealed the news that family matriarch Miss Kay had gotten into a bit of a dust-up with her dog Bobo. At the time, the injury was described as a “chunk” being taken out of Miss Kay’s face. At the time, she'd also had to go to the hospital, so there was some indication the injury was serious business. Thankfully, the Duck Dynasty gang have updated us on Miss Kay’s condition, and Phil Robertson at least seems be bringing some levity to the situation, telling a story about a new nickname he's given his wife.

First and foremost, Miss Kay’s eldest Al Robertson did want to update the Unashamed fanbase during the most recent episode of the family podcast. Given the family dog was the biter, he also shared an update on Bobo as well, noting,

Phil Robertson chimed in to explain that when he brought the story up on the podcast a week+ ago, he was under the impression that what happened with Bobo was a rare event. But after the news broke more widely, fans were coming to to reveal “the same thing happened to their family members.” This came as a bit of a surprise.

Phil Robertson went on to share that he's been able to joke around about the incident with his wife and partner of 55 years. He was kidding with her about how she’s going to need to get in with the LA crowd on the plastic surgery front, though it seems like she may be able to avoid that now. He couldn’t help but give her a little flack after what happened though, noting “she didn’t laugh” at the new nickname.

Now, Phil Robertson may not be above giving it a little to Miss Kay after the accident with Bobo. However, it is worth pointing out that he and Al had a nice exchange over Phil’s treatment of Miss Kay following the incident. Instead of giving Miss Kay flack while she was in pain, Al gave his dad props for telling Miss Kay “I’m so sorry this happened to you” rather than doing a “little blame assessment” as would have been his modus operandi when Alan was growing up.

As for Phil Robertson’s take on his own response? He shrugged, noting, ‘I’ve mellowed through the years.” Miss Kay previously said that the hospital had done a good job of fixing her up, telling TMZ that she may still need plastic surgery. We’ll let you know if there are any more updates related to Miss Kay’s recovery (or about the rest of the clan), but it sounds like things are starting to progress in a positive direction.

It’s never a dull day in the Robertson household. This week, we heard about a harrowing experience that family matriarch Kay Robertson recently underwent. The mom of four recently had to go straight to the hospital after an incident with family dog Bobo. Her husband, Phil Robertson recounted the grisly details on the family’s podcast Unashamed.

As Phil Robertson got into his tale of what happened during a seemingly innocuous night at home, he noted that “someone would have had to told me the story for me to believe it.” The tale starts late at night when Robertson was already in bed. His wife typically stays up much later than him, so Robertson says he was already asleep when the incident with the dog in the night-time went down.

Phil Robertson’s kids who also appear on Unashamed seemed to confirm the blood factor, before Phil says he got into gear, pulled on “his britches” and got her to the hospital. But he wanted to know what happened, to which Kay Robertson explained:

We’re actually getting into the you’d need to be there to believe it bit, as Phil Robertson says he drove to the neighbors, blew a “horn” in the middle of the night to wake ‘em up and get them in on the hospital activity. As it turns out, Miss Kay wants everyone to know that “it wasn’t his fault” and that generally Bobo is a good dog and didn’t know what he was doing when she frightened him. Miss Kay has since been stitched up and is on the mend and you can see the story told in full below.

But as Phil Robertson put it, there’s a literal reason there's a phrase called “let a sleeping dog lie.” Meanwhile, Robertson also says his wife is trying to take the positives and learn from the experience now that she’s all stitched up and going to be OK. Regardless, our thoughts go out to the Duck Dynasty clan during this time.

Sadie Robertson Huff, like a slew of other reality TV youngsters, grew up before our eyes on Duck Dynasty. It’s been a few years since the show signed off for good in 2017, but Robertson Huff didn’t waste any time. She parlayed the success of her family’s show into a near-win on Dancing With the Stars. And now, the Duck Commander Company’s prodigy has a new TV show in the works that might surprise some fans.

Deadline reports that Sadie Robertson Huff has joined forces with producer Brad Krevoy for the new project. They will be adapting her 2019 YA novel Life Just Got Real into a scripted series about two teens from different walks of life being thrown together on a reality show. She may know reality TV, but this will actually be Robertson Huff’s first foray as a producer. It remains uncertain as of right now if a network or streaming platform will decide to pick up the series.

Though the project will see Sadie Robertson Huff working mostly behind the scenes in her new producer role, she will also have guest appearances. The former Duck Dynasty star has acted before, with periphery roles in God’s Not Dead 2 and I’m Not Ashamed. But Life Just Got Real would mean a more substantial opportunity for Robertson Huff to show off acting chops.

The showrunner attached to Sadie Robertson Huff’s potential series is Alfonso H. Morena. He, along with producer Brad Krevoy, has extensive experience in their work as EPs on Hallmark’s massive hit show When Calls The Heart. The show, now on its eighth season, is also based on a series of novels, which bodes well for the future of Robertson Huff’s green-lit project.

Fans of the Duck Dynasty princess will no doubt be just as excited for the promise of this developing Life Just Got Real series. Clearly, Sadie Roberston Huff is over the moon, saying about the project,

Life Just Got Real might be in the works, but it doesn’t quite have a network to call home – yet. Given the individuals attached to the would-be series, it is possible that it would land on either the Hallmark Channel or potentially even Netflix. Sadie Robertson Huff would undoubtedly like her scripted series to mirror the success of Brad Krevoy’s work on the Netflix films The Princess Switch, A Christmas Prince, and their sequels. Krevoy and his production company (MPCA) have also produced more than 30 original movies for Hallmark and several other popular scripted series for them as well.

Sadie Robertson Huff has carved out a niche for herself in the entertainment industry, outside of her famous family. Time will only tell if this new show in the works is an indication of her expanding reach – and if her career just got real.

The tagline for the wildly popular A&E show Duck Dynasty might have been “Money, Family, Ducks,” but it could have easily been imagined as “Beards, Beers, and Birds.” The Robertson family became notorious for the wild things they would say on the show, and most prominently, their especially scruffy beards and hairdos. Willie Robertson, CEO of the dynasty in question, shocked fans when he cut off his own iconic long hair last year but is now revealing the reason behind the change.

Apparently, the reason wasn’t so clear-cut as it was a sudden whim after the stressors of the pandemic last summer. An ongoing health crisis can do that to a person. In his interview with Taste of Country, Willie Robertson said:

Post-haircut, Willie Robertson also admitted that he is “loving” not being recognized in public for his signature Duck Dynasty-era beard and long hair anymore. What’s hilarious is that even his wife Korie didn’t recognize him afterward. She said, “I literally walked right past him.” Check out the proof here:

Duck Dynasty came to its conclusion after five years and eleven seasons in 2017. For the most part, the show only engendered constant laughs because of the Robertson family’s natural showmanship, funny euphemisms and crazy antics. But it still had its fair share of controversy, with many people critiquing their outspoken religious and personal beliefs at the time – mostly those of Willie Robertson’s father, Phil.

But it’s fascinating that Duck Commander Co. is attempting to move on from Duck Dynasty as a whole, not just in hairstyle, but in television as well. Willie Robertson and his wife are promoting their upcoming new Facebook Watch show called At Home with the Robertsons. The trailer for the new show stages a complete rebrand of the Duck Dynasty family, as it features them having family-style interviews with the likes of Tim Tebow, Hannah Brown, and other interesting figures from different backgrounds. Robertson said:

It seems that the year 2020 had a transformational effect on not only us regular everyday folks but on the Robertsons as well. The Duck Dynasty icons have pivoted into Red Table Talk territory, and it’s kind of surreal. Make sure to call and invite Jada to dinner, Willie.

It’s been a few days since we learned the Duck Dynasty clan had welcomed another member into the family. We aren’t talking about a newborn, however; instead the family introduced us to Phyllis, Phil Robertson’s child from an affair he embarked upon more than 40 years ago. Now, Phyllis is telling her story and explaining how she found out about her origins and her newfound roots.

Speaking on an episode of BlazeTV’s Unashamed, Phyllis, now 45 years of age, explained that she really only found out her father was not her father recently and it all happened because of a DNA kit. Basically, her son took a test and then the background of the test did not match what she had been told about her family’s genealogy, which led her on a journey to finding out she was a Robertson.

Phyllis went on to reveal that growing up she had a brother and a sister and they’d been privy to the occasional comment that Phyllis may not fully be their sibling. However, her parents had never come out and directly told her that the man she perceived as her father was not her biological parent.

When the DNA test came out she “wasn’t shocked,” but what her son’s DNA test did was lead her down a path to uncovering the truth: Her real father was actually Phil Robertson. So, how did she do it? First, she and her sister and brother all took DNA tests to see if they matched. Furthermore, Phyllis revealed:

A lot of times when family members come out of the wood work when a famous person or persons is involved, things can turn sour quickly. Regardless, the Duck Dynasty/ Robertson clan have all seemed to be making an effort to welcome Phyllis into the family. On her side of things, the newcomer says she really wasn’t aware of what Duck Dynasty was before meeting the family.

She mentioned having been doing mission work during five of the years Duck Dynasty was a huge presence on cable TV and said she really wasn't aware of the A&E series or who starred in it, though she had heard the name before. So, I suppose the newfound fame not a particularly important component to this story. Meanwhile, she seems to be adjusting to life as a personality comfortably, as she did a good job explaining her side of the tell on Unashamed.

It’s been a few days since the Phil Robertson, most known as the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty clan, learned that he had a daughter named Phyllis he had fathered during a past affair. Phil Robertson is married to matriarch Kay Robinson and their four children Willie Robertson, Jep Robertson, Jase Robertson and Alan Robertson are known to Duck Dynasty fans, as are some of the grandchildren. But how do they feel about welcoming a new adult into the family?

First of all, Phil Robertson himself reported the news and shared the story with his fanbase, noting as part of his “Unashamed” BlazeTV series that he had recently found out about his daughter, explaining,

A&E’s Duck Dynasty star Korie Robertson, who is married to Willie Robertson also shared her longer take on the newest family member in the past few days. Her daughter Sadie, a former competitor on Dancing with the Stars, noted “the bigger the better” on her own Instagram stories. Here’s her famous mom’s take.

Finally, Willie Robertson also seems to be welcoming of newcomer Phyllis, also sharing a full family photo.

His brother, Jase Robertson, shared a more personal and individualized moment with his newfound sibling, also noting “God is good.” In short,

During the “Unashamed” cast, the family revealed how Phil Robertson determined it was a 99.5% match, also sharing that the news broke over a phone call. Robertson also addressed the affair that led to the conception of his daughter, noting he feels he learned a “valuable lesson” and that audiences will be able to really meet his daughter soon. The brothers also talked having an immediate feeling of “well I love her,” also noting it probably would be a weird feeling to suddenly learn you are part of the Duck Dynasty clan, of all families.

The Duck Dynasty family has been famous for years now, springing to prominence when the A&E series of the same name hit that network in 2012. It ended up running for 11 seasons, through the 2016-2017 TV season, with about two cycles airing each year. Since then, several spinoffs have aired and in addition many members of the family are still active on social media and in pop culture.

So, you would have to imagine going from anonymity to becoming part of the Duck Dynasty family would be a bit of a shock, but at least it seems everyone is making the attempt to try and get along.

Duck Dynasty vet Willie Robertson alleged that he and his family were victims of a drive-by shooting that damaged his estate in West Monroe, Louisiana. The shooter reportedly fired off eight to ten shots on Friday, April 24, one of which went through one of the the windows of Robertson’s home. Now, the alleged drive-by shooter has been arrested and charged by Louisiana authorities.

On Sunday, April 26, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office arrested 38-year-old Daniel King, Jr. for allegedly firing at Willie Robertson’s home. Per The Monroe News Star, King was charged with one count of aggravated assault by drive-by shooting and one count of criminal neglect of family. He was processed through Ouachita’s Correctional Center and his bond was set at $150,000.

The shooting took place off the road of Willie Robertson’s private estate, which was surrounded by fences and a gate. The Duck Dynasty star’s son John Luke Robertson, his wife Mary Kate McEachern and their infant were all reportedly inside the bedroom when one of the bullets was fired through the window. However, no injuries were reported at the time. Other witnesses also stated they saw a truck passing through and heard gunshots being fired.

Willie Robertson said that he and his family were “pretty shook up” after the drive-by occurred and he was “100% certain” that the alleged shooter knew that he was firing at Robertson’s home. Although an arrest was made, it’s still unclear why Daniel King, Jr. allegedly singled out Willie Robertson’s family home for a drive-by shooting.

The initial incident reportedly happened in the middle of the afternoon and Robertson’s surveillance camera was able to record what happened. There were allegedly other people in the truck alongside Daniel King, Jr. However, there were no descriptions given for the truck’s other occupants. The Louisiana police have not arrested anyone else in connection to the shooting and there are no pending charges at this time.

Willie Robertson appeared in eleven seasons of A&E’s Duck Dynasty, a reality series that followed his family and their duck hunting gear business, called Duck Commander. The series ended in 2017 following a lawsuit filed against the production company's founders. The series was so popular for A&E that it spawned several spin-offs, including Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty and Going Si-Ral. The former reality star went on to become an occasional Fox News contributor, while his daughter Sadie competed in Season 19 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, coming in second place in the series’ final competition.

Ongoing entrepreneur and former reality TV star Willie Robertson had a major scare recently that was quite different from the kinds of emergencies that many are experiencing across the country. The Duck Dynasty vet revealed that he and his family were recently the victims of a drive-by shooting that damaged his home in West Monroe, Louisiana. Thankfully, no one in the family was said to be injured.

The drive-by shooting reportedly happened on Friday, April 24, at a point just after 2:30 p.m. CST. Speaking with USA Today Network, Willie Robertson brought up the fact that the incident happened in "broad daylight," and that eight to ten shots had been fired at his house from the road. While he appears certain his house was specifically targeted by the shooters, Robertson doesn't know who they are, or why they would have picked his house. Here's how he put it:

According to occasional Fox Network contributor and guest Willie Robertson, multiple witnesses saw a truck driving by the property at least once before the shots rang out. It's believed the suspects were inside the vehicle, which was described as a white and brown/beige Ford F-250 that sported large non-factory tires and rims. The truck and occupants were recorded on a surveillance camera, and the driver was described as being a young Caucasian male in his teens or early 20s. No descriptions were given for the others riding in the truck.

At this point, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been named, but the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office has opened an investigation into the shooting. Willie Robertson said he believed the shooter(s) were local, but couldn't be completely positive.

Willie Robertson and wife Korie have various family members staying at the multiple properties on his estate, which were built a fair distance from the road, and are also behind a gate and fence. The bedroom occupied by his son John Luke Robertson, no doubt familiar to Duck Dynasty fanatics, has a window that was struck by one of the bullets. His wife Mary Kate and their infant child were also staying in the room with him. Again, no one was hurt, and the Robertson matriarch was grateful that everyone was either indoors or away at the time. In his words:

Also among the family members staying at Willie Robertson's property is Sadie Robertson, whose teen years corresponded with Duck Dynasty's run on A&E, which ended in 2017 after some behind-the-scenes issues and shake-ups. Sadie is likely also familiar to Dancing with the Stars fans, as she came in as a runner-up with pro Mark Ballas during Season 19, falling only to winner Alfonso Ribeiro of Fresh Prince and America's Funniest Videos fame.

Here's hoping the investigation into the shooting is successful, and justice prevails without any more scary situations in store for Willie Robertson and his family.

Duck Dynasty was one of the biggest shows on television at the high points of its run on A&E, and it has given viewers a look at a culture of hunting and fishing that many of us would never have understood in detail, otherwise. The reality series has followed the Robertson family and their family business for half a decade now. Sadly for fans, Duck Dynasty will soon come to an end. Family patriarch (and occasional wedding crasher) Willie Robertson has shared his thoughts on his time on the show, saying this:

Considering the successes that Willie Robertson has achieved over the past five years, he may have the right idea when it comes to going with his instincts rather than setting lofty goals for himself. His company became a hit thanks to its distinctive duck call and other products for duck hunters, and following the show he has written a book about about the history of fishing in the U.S. In addition, he's working on a show called Going Si-ral, and he landed a gig as a contributor to Fox News. All in all, the end of Duck Dynasty won't mean the end of Robertson's contributions to pop culture.

Willie Robertson went on in his chat with CBN to explain that he never expected his life to go the way that it has over the years since Duck Dynasty hit the airwaves, revealing this:

The Robertson family has accomplished a lot since Duck Dynasty debuted in 2012, and Willie Robertson clearly isn't taking much of a break now that filming has concluded. If and when he does slow down, he will have more than earned his break. After all, he's certainly not the only one who would have expected Duck Dynasty to become the mega-hit that it did. The series broke cable ratings records and sometimes averaged audiences of more than 11 million viewers, which translates to higher viewership than many shows on the broadcast networks--channels that traditionally draw far more fans than cable channels like A&E.

The ratings have dropped significantly over the years, but the core fanbase seems to have stuck around for the run of the series. It should be interesting to see how Duck Dynasty performs in its final season. Season 11 will officially be the last season of Duck Dynasty, and it is set to debut in spring of 2017. Season 10 is still on the air, however, with new episodes running on A&E through January 18. December is the last big push by the major studios for the holidays, and as such we are getting quite a few big releases before the Christmas season rolls around. Among these are a slew of new Blu-ray movies, but also quite a few 4K and TV releases. Some of these are big budget films--Jason Bourne and Suicide Squad among them--while others are smaller, fun releases for a niche audience, such as the Limited Edition Box set for Batman v Superman or the new Oasis project Supersonic. The Secret Life Of Pets Blu-ray Review

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has had particularly good success with creating appealing Blu-ray releases, especially for animated movies. A trend in recent years is including "mini movies" that appeal to the kids, a premise we saw with Minions and now with The Secret Life of Pets. While the movie isn't the best Universal and Illuminations outing in recent years, your kids are bound to like it, and it does feature some incredibly fun voice work. Louis C.K. plays a Jack Russell Terrier named Max, Kevin Hart plays a rabbit named Snowball, and Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet is on board as a mixed breed dog, Duke; Max and Duke are simply trying to find their way home through the movie. Jenny Slate, Ellie Kemper, Dana Carvey, Albert Brooks, Hannibel Burress, Steve Coogan and Bobby Moynihan---the latter of which is also great in We Bare Bears---also help to round out the cast and get their own featurette. A few family films have come out over the past few weeks, including Pete's Dragon, but in terms of bonus features geared towards your kids, The Secret Life of Pets knows exactly what sort of movie it is. Jason Bourne Blu-ray Review

Matt Damon spent nine years away from the role of Jason Bourne, so when he came back, we were expecting something special. The latest movie, also directed by Paul Greengrass, who helmed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, hits a lot of notes that fans of the franchise want to see, but it also doesn't pack the punch that some of the other films have had. Well, maybe punch is the wrong word, as the action sequences are superb in Jason Bourne; instead, it's the plot of the new movie that runs a little thinner. The new sequel follows Bourne learning key information about Treadstone,yet again, and then getting chased by the CIA for his troubles. It's certainly worth a watch, and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Blu-ray set hits all of the right beats. (it also provides a good forum to advertise for The Great Wall.) Extras on the disc include Matt Damon and others explaining why Jason Bourne was made and why the cast came back (Damon loves "being followed" by the Bourne character). Other bonus features include a look at Bourne's "bare knuckle boxing skills," but the nicest touch is that Matt Damon introduces a lot of the extras. Order your own copy of the film here.

Any superhero movie is generally a huge release on Blu-ray and DVD, and Suicide Squad is particularly exciting thanks to the extended cut that switches some stuff up about the film, which stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Jay Hernandez as Diablo, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc and Karen Fukuhara as Katana. We've already written extensively about David Ayer's extended cut of the film, but the Blu-ray disc is fun, thanks to a slew of extras that feature a ton of behind-the-scenes information on the "making of" the film. The real win---and the most informative for those who are not super into the comics---is "Task Force X," a featurette looking at the history of the comics and featuring Ayer and the main cast. I was less enamored with "Joker & Harley," considering how that particular relationship played out on the small screen, but Margot Robbie has some interesting stuff to say about her character, so it's not a total wash. There are no deleted scenes with the Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Blu-ray as they are folded into the extended cut, but a Digital copy of the film and Vudu extras are also included. Bridget Jones' Baby Blu-ray Review

More than a decade after Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason hit theaters, Renee Zellweger returns to the role of the charming and romantically disastrous Bridget Jones. However, unlike its predecessors, Bridget Jones's Baby doesn't follow the next book in Helen Fieldings' series. Instead, we're re-introduced to Bridget, who's in her forties, working hard to succeed in her career and once again single. When she finds herself facing a very unexpected pregnancy, she's faced with the uncertainty of motherhood, not to mention the uncertainty of who the father is. Is it her ex Mark Darcy's (Colin Firth), or the dreamy wealthy American, Jack (Patrick Dempsey)? Typical Bridget Jones shenanigans ensue, which is surely to the delight of the fans of this series. The Blu-ray and DVD set features an amusing alternate ending, as well as the more predictable deleted scenes and a gag reel. There's also a making-of featurette, which features Zellweger, along with Patrick Dempsey and Colin Firth---what more could you really ask for? Florence Foster Jenkins Blu-ray Review

Once upon a time, Florence Foster Jenkins was a singer who sold out Carnegie Hall. Her voice was, by most accounts, abysmal. More than seventy years after her biggest moment, she now has her own movie. It is, by most accounts including this one, wonderful. It follows the end of the singer and socialite's life, as she sings loud and proud and her devoted husband tries to keep her lack of natural ability from her. That back and forth is oddly touching, and Stephen Frears' latest features numerous wonderful acting performances, most notably from Meryl Streep, Hugh Grant and Simon Helberg. All three earned Golden Globe nominations to go along with a Best Comedy nod for the picture itself, all of which are deserved. The accompanying Blu-ray set, released by Paramount, contains more than enough to please fans, as well. It features retrospectives on the real Florence Foster Jenkins, in addition to deleted scenes, featurettes and more. It might not be quite as memorable as one of the real musician's concerts, but then again, it doesn't seem like anything in the past half century has been. Order it here.

Ben-Hur Blu-ray Review

Few things have the capability to rile up hardcore fans more than talk of rebooting a classic movie. Those announcements can generate plenty of dissension. When it came to Ben-Hur, however, the presiding emotion from moviegoers tended to be confusion. That later manifested itself in poor box office performance, which is a shame since the movie is actually pretty decent. It captures the epic scope of Kirk Douglas' classic version, and while its high notes aren't quite as high, director Timur Bekmambetov's movie still has plenty to say about class and personal relationships. Those viewpoints can be found on the Blu-ray, as well, which includes featurettes, a look at the original movie, deleted scenes and even music videos. The Magnificent Seven Blu-ray Review

Antonine Fuqua's bold remake of the 1960 western The Magnificent Seven boasts an impressive main cast, starring Denzel Washington, Vincent D'Onofrio, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Lee Byung-hun, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Martin Sensmeier, Haley Bennett and Peter Sarsgaard. The movie kicks off with a land dispute in a mining town, with a big baddie Bogue (Sarsgaard) attempting to takeover, killing some of the locals in his quest. A crew of men are hired to take down Bogue and his men, but it's not an easy breezy western and instead is one that is rife with danger and nearly always exciting. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's set is exciting, too and features a fun function called "Vengeance Mode," which enables the viewer to watch the movie a second time with video commentary from the main cast and Fuqua, as well as some behind-the-scenes footage. It's not actually all that invasive to the actual movie, and is easy to exit out of should you decided you want the regular viewing experience. A slew of featurettes are also available with the disc, along with deleted scenes. You can order your own copy of the movie, which also comes with a Digital movie, here.

Sully Blu-ray Review

The story behind the Miracle on the Hudson has been a memorable one in recent years, and honestly felt like a natural fit for a movie, depending on whether a studio could find the right script and the right star. Sully certainly found the right star in Tom Hanks, who plays a veteran pilot who made a heroic landing, only to find himself suffering from PTSD and nightmares of planes crashing after the incident. While the script does drag somewhat, considering it's a feature length film about a very short event, Clint Eastwood's latest film is certainly memorable and worth a watch. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's movie comes with the traditional Blu-ray, but also a DVD and Digital copy of the flick. There aren't a ton of extras, but I'm always a sucker for real behind-the-scenes information when movies are based on true events, and Sully doesn't disappoint in that aspect. Check out "Moment By Moment," a featurette featuring the real-life Captain Sullenberger, co-pilot Jeff Skiles and air traffic controller Patrick Harten as they walk you through what really happened during the Miracle on the Hudson. Duck Dynasty has been a major success for A&E, but a couple of folks at the production company behind the series are in very hot water at the moment. Scott and Deirdre Gurney have been fired from Gurney Productions, which they founded. Parent company ITV Studios has filed a suit that makes some pretty big accusations about shady dealings during their time as heads of Gurney Productions.

We reported earlier this week that Scott and Deirdre Gurney were placed on a mandatory leave of absence that was then described as "short" and "temporary" in order to conduct an internal fraud investigation into whether or not they were guilty of any wrongdoing. Now, the plot has thickened considerably as the temporary leave of absence has been changed to an outright firing for both founders. ITV has had a controlling interest in Gurney Productions since 2012, and the parent company made the decision to oust the Gurneys and pursue a legal case against them.

The lawsuit alleges that Scott and Deirdre Gurney are guilty of self-dealing and fraud in breach of their contract with ITV Studios. As part of the deal that resulted in ITV shelling out $40 million for controlling interest of Gurney Productions, the Gurneys agreed not to compete with ITV for as long as they were still employees at Gurney Productions. ITV retained the right to buy out their interests. The price for the buyout was to be based on the average earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization generated by their company.

ITV claims that Scott and Deirdre Gurney's first breach of contract occurred when they founded Snake River Productions as a competitor to ITV and Gurney Productions. They allegedly used their positions to sell the international distribution rights for Discovery's Northern Territory from ITV to Snake River Productions without informing the board of directors that they in fact owned Snake River. Snake River paid $3.6 million for the rights to Northern Territory, which might have seemed like a financial win for ITV if not for the fact that the gain increased their earnings enough that it could have substantially driven up what ITV would have to pay the Gurneys for their buyouts.

In addition to fraud, self-dealing, and breach of contract, the lawsuit claims that the Gurneys poached employees and misused company funds. ITV is seeking punitive damages of a non-specified amount. Additionally, THR reports that ITV wants at least $850,000 as repayment for expenses and an injunction that returns all the assets and projects created by employees working for Snake River and/or the Gurneys while still employed at ITV. Scott and Deirdre Gurney could be in a lot of trouble if the lawsuit goes ITV's way.

Luckily for the employees at ITV and Gurney Productions who are not involved in the lawsuit, their jobs are likely to continue the same as ever. ITV appointed Emmy-winning producer Craig Armstrong of Survivor, Food Revolution, and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition as interim CEO for Gurney Productions. Duck Dynasty won't be affected by the lawsuit as it heads into its final season on A&E. Take a look at our midseason TV premiere schedule to see what will hit the airwaves in 2017.

Duck Dynasty has been a huge hit of a series for A&E ever since it hit the airwaves back in 2012, and it helped put production company Gurney Productions on the map. Gurney Productions is in a bit of turmoil at the moment due to some major management shake-ups. Founders Scott and Deirdre Gurney have been removed from their positions as head honchos at the company for the indefinite future.

Scott and Deirdre Gurney have been placed on a leave of absence from Gurney Productions. The leave has been described as "short" and "temporary," but there have been no dates set for when they will or will not return to their roles as bosses of the company. Craig Armstrong of ITV will step in as the interim CEO to Gurney Productions. ITV has had a controlling interest in Gurney since back in 2012, so Armstrong's selection to fill in for the Gurneys doesn't come as a huge surprise. Given that Armstrong is an Emmy-winning producer who has contributed to series like Survivor, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and Food Revolution over the years, the folks at Gurney have a qualified person helming the company for the time being.

The board of directors is responsible for temporarily ousting Scott and Deirdre Gurney, and Deadline reports that they are currently in talks to figure out where they'll all go from here on out with the company. Craig Armstrong sent out an email to Gurney Productions staff after being named interim CEO to reassure them that business will continue as usual, just under new management. He is, evidently, interested in getting to know the employees and figuring out how they contribute to Gurney.

The email is mostly vague about why Scott and Deirdre Gurney are no longer active in the day-to-day activities of the company, although it does rather ominously warn that employees should not discuss the proceedings with anybody, including the Gurneys themselves. All questions are to be directed to management. The folks at Gurney seem determined to keep the details as in-house as possible.

Of course, the vagueness of the email doesn't mean that sources haven't already reached out to the media to share some of what is going on behind the scenes. THR learned that the leave of absence for Scott and Deirdre Gurney was prompted by an internal fraud investigation to determine whether or not the founders of Gurney Productions are guilty of any wrongdoing. No charges have been filled, but certain billing irregularities reportedly raised red flags with execs.

Gurney Productions is responsible for projects that have aired on Spike TV, Syfy, and Discovery in addition to Duck Dynasty for A&E. You can catch new episodes of Duck Dynasty on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on A&E. The show will come to an end in April 2017, although holiday specials will air even after the series finale. Fans should be sure to tune in over the coming months to see what happens as Duck Dynasty wraps up. At one point in its short but somehow still long history, A&E's Duck Dynasty was one of the most popular unscripted shows on television. It was also A&E's highest rated program ever. And then the wheels came off. The show took a lot of flack when patriarch Phil Robertson made some comments to the press about gay people living in sin, and while the show returned to the air after that, the numbers no longer swelled as high as they once did. Now, the show is set to end, although it's not happening tomorrow. In fact, the network has already filmed one last season that will air through the early part of 2017.

News broke yesterday via a video the Robertson family filmed, noting that the show would be ending after Season 11.

According to the video, the Robertson clan actually made the decision to end the series, rather than A&E, although the network has not come out to make a statement about the decision, yet. Clearly, there were no hard feelings about the series leading to this ending. At one point in the video, the family even intimates that there may be a few Duck Dynasty specials coming to A&E down the line.

New episodes of Duck Dynasty currently air on Wednesday nights on A&E, and we can expect new episodes to air on the network through January 18. A final set of episodes will run in the spring, in March and April. The final episode will air on April 12.

Reality shows do not often have the shelf life that Duck Dynasty has had. The show only kicked off in 2012, but the A&E series is already currently in its 11th season on the network and already hit its 100th episode back in Season 9, which also aired in 2016. Season 11 just kicked off this week on the cable network with an episode about Willie and Jase both racing to become the next president of the homeowner's association.

For a while, A&E had a pretty strong programming lineup, thanks to having Ducky Dynasty and scripted programs Bates Motel and Longmire in the lineup. However, Longmire was cancelled a few years ago and then shuffled over to Netflix, where it will also be ending its run soon. A few months ago, A&E also announced that Bates Motel will be ending after Season 5 finishes its run. With Duck Dynasty also heading out, most of the network's tentpole programs will soon be gone. A&E does still have the occasional Intervention special and programs like Wahlburgers, but it's definitely slowing down on the noticeable programs front.

Finally, we are starting to get into a good groove in movies world. While the box office heats up with the big budget hits of the summer, here in the home entertainment world, there are a slew of quiet favorites coming out over the next few months. From cute likable movies such as Zootopia to fun TV favorites like the most recent season of Rick and Morty, there are quite a few releases that will make their way onto shelves and then into homes during June. Zootopia Blu-ray

Disney’s had quite a few winners over the last few years, bringing us princess movies, but also movies about monsters and video game characters. The company really hit the ball out of the park with Zootopia, its latest feature about a metropolis where predator and prey have learned to live together over time, only to find things go awry when prey start being attacked and predators start disappearing. The message of tolerance and not judging a book by its cover might be a little too sophisticated for the youngest of viewers, but the gentle lesson building doesn’t feel forced within a plot that nods to some famous movies and features some excellent action scenes. The only thing that could possibly make this plot better is a catchy theme song from a big star like Shakira, and Zootopia has that too. Walt Disney Home Entertainment typically puts out a good Blu-ray, and Zootopia come with an additional DVD and Digital copy. In addition, there are a slew of bonus features, included deleted scenes and more. However, the cutest is likely "Z.P.D. Forensic Files," which gives you and the rest of the family the scoop on all of the hidden Mickeys in the movie. Grab your own copy on Amazon.

Game of Thrones Season 3 And 4 Steelbook Blu-rays

The Game of Thrones: The Complete Third Season steelbook is not something you need, especially if you already have access to the third season of Game of Thrones via other means. However, are there myriad reasons for why this is the set you should purchase? Of course there are. The first is that Season 3 is arguably the most exciting season of the series, and features the Red Wedding and more. The second is that HBO wisely put together a sleek set with this Season 3 Blu-ray, which matches the Season 1 and 2 Blu-rays already released in the set. The metal casing features an attached magnet, this one focusing on The Twins for House Frey. The details don’t end there, however, as there are a slew of bonus features present. The steelbook is especially nice if you have the ability to use the Dolby Atmos sound technology that is a part of this set. Plus, the 5-disc set comes with a Digital copy for even easier access. Again, Game of Thrones: The Complete Third Season is not something you need, but since the night is dark and full of terrors, you might as well have something comforting on your shelf. Hail, Caesar! Blu-ray

The Coen Brothers rarely produce anything that is boring, and their latest Hail, Caesar! is a fun blend of catchy Hollyweird show tunes and eclectic plotting. The film centrally follows producer Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin), who acts as a fixer within his own studio. During the course of the close to two-hour movie, he deals with problems related to Communism, cowboys, pesky journalists, period romances and even helping out a pregnant actress. With a solid but heavy-hitting cast including but not limited to Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Frances McDormand, Alden Ehrenreich and Ralph Fiennes, Hail Caesar can feel a little busy, but it’s certainly worth a watch. If you’d like to go a step further and own Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s set, you’ll get a surprising number of bonus features along with a DVD and Digital copy. "Directing Hollywood" is a pretty good featurette—especially if you enjoy hanging on the Coen Brothers’ every word—however, I generally preferred "Magic of a Bygone Era" which looked at the actual dance choreography in the film. Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan Director’s Cut Blu-ray

The Wrath of Khan is not a new movie. There are plenty of releases of the 1982 flick to choose from, but Paramount Home Media Distribution’s latest release of the popular Star Trek film certainly features some details that help the title to stand out amongst its competition. First and foremost, it’s a Director’s Cut copy that also features the original theatrical version of the film along with a slew of other bells and whistles, including a brand new documentary feature. The cover was originally Mondo art and is a cut above the Blu-ray box art we normally get. But the real gem here for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan fans is that the film is available in High Definition, with three minutes of restored footage in the Director’s Cut version. The studio made the transferal from the original negatives and holy heck does it look great. If you haven’t caught The Wrath of Khan in a while, this set, released on the film’s 34th anniversary, should be a great reminder of why we fell in love with the movie in the first place. London Has Fallen Blu-ray

As the sequel to the reasonably well-liked 2013 flick Olympus Has Fallen, I went into London Has Fallen hoping the sequel would surpass the first. The tone of the second film is similar to the first, but Babak Najafi’s London Has Fallen does what a lot of sequels do and makes the plot bigger and bolder, taking our heroes to London for the Prime Ministers funeral. While there, President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) and his #1 Secret Service guy Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) head to the funeral where terrorists attack the world leaders of many countries, causing chaos. The rest is a lot of gunfights and avoiding terrorists, propelled forward by this horrifically violent beginning. The result is an action-heavy narrative like the first flick that holds up on the small screen about as well as it did on the big screen. If that blatant, super macho sort of action is your thing, Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s Blu-ray set comes with an addition DVD and a Digital copy, so you can watch the film on all kinds of platforms. Skip the bonus features, as London Has Fallen is not a film you would want to buy for the extras, anyway. Order your own copy, here.

10 Cloverfield Lane Blu-ray

A follow-up of sorts with a loose connection to Cloverfield, 10 Cloverfield Lane is part horror film and part invasion movie, filled with enough suspense to keep me riveted to my seat for the flick's 103 minute runtime. Director Dan Trachtenberg's film follows Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a young woman who is trying to reach her boyfriend on the phone when she is hit by a truck. She wakes in an underground bunker and is told by its residents Emmet (John Gallagher Jr.) and Howard (John Goodman) that the human race was under attack and the air is now contaminated. Should Michelle trust them? Does she have a choice? The fun thriller comes from J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot productions and was released on Blu-ray by Paramount Home Media Distribution, coming with a DVD and Digital copy. The shock value might wear off after viewing more than once, but if you haven't caught this one, you are bound to be delighted by the premise and the way the story plays out. Extras are nothing to drool over, although there are some intriguing insights from Trachtenberg and J.J. Abrams in the commentary. Order your own copy here.

Sacha Baron Cohen's latest comedy The Brothers Grimbsy starts with a mattress gag and packs in a lot of jokes related to elephant penises and other jokes of a sexual nature. Other movies from the actor have also featured a lot of grossout humor, but this spy thriller takes it to the next level. Still, the relationship between Mark Strong's Sebastian and Sacha Baron Cohen's Nobby makes the plot of The Brothers Grimsby stronger than the films the comedian has cobbled together over the past. The two actors are a good match for one another playing long-lost brothers who work out their issues while trying to save the day. These performances are supplemented by work from Isla Fisher, Ian McShane and Rebel Wilson, not to mention there's a recurring joke about Daniel Radcliffe. The Brothers Grimsby often has its moments, but it may be a little too obscene for some audiences. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Blu-ray is pretty basic. A Digital version of the movie is included, but isn't advertised on the box. Extras are also standard and include a gag reel and deleted scenes. They are all pretty funny, and it proves we were saved from even more elephant semen in this movie. Catch all the penis jokes to your hearts content by ordering your own copy here.

It's important to understand right off the bat that Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is not a flat-out comedy, at least not in the sense that the trailers for the film would have had you believe. Instead, it's closer to a drama about a woman, Kim Baker (Tina Fey) who is dissatisfied with her life and decides to make a change, heading to Afghanistan to be a reporter in the early 2000s. She leaves behind her boyfriend, her former job and her gym membership to give the new gig a go and makes a lot of mistakes along the way. She also meets a lot of great people, including Tanya Vanderpoel (Margot Robbie), Ian MacElpie (Martin Freeman) and Fahim Ahmadzai (Christopher Abbott). The movie may not be exactly what we anticipated, but the Glenn Ficarra and John Requa film is still worth a watch. The Paramount Home Media Distribution title is actually the sort of movie that really benefits from bonus features. Based on a book written by real-life embed journalist Kim Barker, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot was shot with help from Barker herself and even the help of the US military, who gave the creative team insight on what was correct and incorrect with the script. If you liked the movie, you'll probably like the extras, too. Check out "War Reporter: The Real Kim" and "Embedded In Reality." Order your own copy here.

_Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice _Ultimate Edition

For a long time, Duck Dynasty was a hugely popular program on the A&E network, spurred by the Robertson clan, a crew of fun-loving Southerners known for their wild antics and strange sayings. Last fall, A&E had a bonafide hit on its hands, airing a fall premiere that broke records for the cable station. On Wednesday, the reality franchise began airing Duck Dynasty’s sixth season, and the numbers are no longer looking so good.

The Season 6 premiere of Duck Dynasty brought in 4.6 million total viewers during its original airing. If we are comparing those numbers to a lot of the other fodder produced for cable, that’s not half bad. However, we’re talking about Duck Dynasty, a series that has brought in great advertising revenue and allowed A&E to get creative with its programming. Last August, the show brought in 11.8 million total viewers for its Season 4 premiere. That was only ten months ago. Yet, Deadline is noting that Duck Dynasty’s summer premiere declined 46% from last season’s. Those numbers certainly are worth quacking about.

So, what led to the decline? The sudden decrease in numbers could indicate that audiences have turned on the Robertson family after patriarch Phil Robertson made some unpopular comments in very public forums. The January issue of GQ featured an interview during which Robertson condemned “homosexual behavior” in a way that was both graphic and unpleasant to read. The backlash was pretty high, and numbers for this winter’s Season 5 premiere were down a bit from Season 4. Now, it seems the show is beginning a more rapid descent.

Still, it’s likely that the controversy only managed to contribute to Duck Dynasty’s decline and is not the sole cause of it. Most shows cannot sustain a high level of popularity for more than a few seasons. Ones with gimmicky concepts, like Duck Dynasty, usually run out of steam after some time, as the jokes grow stale and the personalities become repetitive. Duck Dynasty always had a short shelf life, and while the numbers will justify it staying on the air for several more seasons to come, it’s possible it will no longer be a part of the cultural lexicon anymore. Think of it like Grey’s Anatomy. Yes, that program is still on the air. Yes, a lot of people still love it, but you can’t just say “Who will McDreamy choose?” to anyone and assume they’ll know what the hell you’re talking about.

Following a show’s premiere, sometimes the ratings stabilize and sometimes they continue to fall. It remains to be seen which of those forks Duck Dynasty will take. We’ll let you know when we have a better idea.

Phil Robertson, familial patriarch and star of A&E’s astoundingly successful, record-breaking and crazy-popular reality television series, Duck Dynasty has been indefinitely suspended from the program following a day of controversy. Robertson’s future on the series was put into question following an interview in GQ Magazine with Drew Magary, wherein the outspoken owner of the most popular duck call-makers denounced homosexuality in a very brusque and graphic manner — pissing quite a few people off in the process. (Turn away now if you’re not a fan of the anatomically correct names of human genitalia.)

“It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical,” explained Robertson.

Robertson went on to further condemn “homosexual behavior” alongside “bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” as illogical, sinful behavior that must be fought by the word of Jesus. He also downplayed and dismissed the plight of the African American in pre-Civil Rights Era America as a time where they were “happy” and “godly,” with “no one singing the blues,” in addition to blaming the lack of Jesus Christ as a reason the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and why the Nazis were so terrible.

The family patriarch’s outspoken support of his own religion is nary a cause for concern or suspension — it’s a largely unspoken part of the series that’s never all that far from view, and something many of Duck Dynasty appreciate. But the series gets away with the light touch of religious ideology because of its, as TIME’s James Poniewozik intelligently observed, conversion from subtext to actual text. Because “as text rather than subtext, the stuff Phil thinks and says creates an irreconcilable problem.”

Mainly one that offends people who just want to watch a show without feeling like they’re supporting a man who’s outspoken in his dislike for gay people. Which creates a problem with them, gay or otherwise. And then by addressing the issue, the network in turn offends people who do believe what Robertson believes, and feel that they’re attacking the star just for having beliefs. Pretty much a no-win situation for everyone, huh?

It’s hard to say what the future has in store for Robertson’s fate on his own show — though judging by the popularity of the series and A&E’s response to basically do nothing, probably not much will change — but for now, his duck call has been silenced.

The holidays caused a little bit of a snafu with this week’s releases. Don’t feel as if you got scrooged, our The Wolverine review will be up as soon as possible!

Smurfs 2 Blu-ray

Movies geared towards kids need a lot of energy and goofiness, and The Smurfs 2 is not lacking on any of those counts. In typical Smurfs fashion, audiences get plenty of moments filled with the tiny creatures racing through underground tunnels and riding on the backs of beautiful birds. From a child’s perspective, there’s a lot of wonder in the half-filmed and half-animated movie, but that’s not to be confused with imagination.

Raja Gosnell’s movie tells a tale of gentle lessons, of bringing new family members into the fold and placing trust in the people closest to you. As such, it’s not breaking new ground in children’s programming. In many ways, it does the opposite, starting with a dream sequence before jumping into plenty of easy-to-follow one-liners from each of the Smurfs' individual personalities. Like Shrek and nearly every Disney movie that has come before Smurfs 2, the film ends with a celebration, in this case one that is filled with dance moves and a Britney Spears song. First, there are plenty of shenanigans from Gargamel (Hank Azaria), who is still on an endless quest to retrieve Smurf essence.

The Smurfs 2 focuses on Smurfette (Katy Perry), who is worrying about betraying the Smurfs, as well as feeling like a bit of an outcast as the only female in the community. Of course, criminal Gargamel finds her at her most vulnerable, and kidnaps her, introducing the female Smurf to her new family, a set of naughties named Vexy (Christina Ricci) and Hackus (J.B. Smoove), Smurf-like creatures who enjoy causing trouble. The whole gang gets back together to bring Smurfette back home, but the blonde-haired lass is torn between the life she stemmed from as a creation of Gargamel and the life that nurtured her and made her into the person she is.

Life can present plenty of obstacles that bring doubt and fear into a people’s minds. The Smurfs 2 perfectly captures those complicated emotions in a way that should seem reasonable to children, but that doesn’t mean adults will find it quite as compelling.

Best Special Feature: There are a ton of extras available with the Blu-ray set, but there’s really no contest when it comes to bonus features. The best is "The Legend of Smurfy Hollow," an original short film that was given a separate release before Smurfs 2 came out. It’s the extra that should hold your kids attention the most, and it features a story told by Narrator Smurf. It’s a ghost story, so it’s probably a little more appropriate for Halloween than the holiday season, but it’s pretty nice that fans sort-of get a 2 for one deal with the set, and it offers original animation to boot.

On a side note, the deleted scenes are actually shot or animated on the disc, so they are a lot better than the drawn fodder that most animated movies offer.

Duck Dynasty: Seasons 1-3 – Collector’s Set Blu-ray

The various Duck Dynasty DVDs and Blu-rays already on the market have sold well. As such, there’s a good chance that fans of A&E’s series have already purchased a season or two of the reality series, but those who haven't yet may want to nab a copy of the Duck Dynasty: Seasons 1-3 – Collector’s Set. The definitive collection boasts all 41 episodes from the aforementioned seasons, 70 minutes of bonus footage, and even a few brand new extras for fans.

If you pick up the Collector’s Set, you’ll notice pretty thick packaging for what amounts to a six-disc set. Further investigation should yield a pretty slick duck camouflage bandana that can presumably be worn as a fashion statement or as actual hunting camouflage. Let’s delve into the set, though, because that’s where most of the actual goodies are.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment actually put some serious effort into the Duck Dynasty: Seasons 1-3 set. Each season has been split onto two discs, and one disc from each season offers bonus features. Additionally, instead of throwing together a set made up of random Blu-ray copies of each season, each disc has been labeled and numbered as part of the Collector’s Set. It’s the details that really matter to fans, and this endeavor doesn’t disappoint.

Still, the Duck Dynasty clan's loud personalities may not be for everyone. Uncle Si gets up to wild antics across the three seasons and during several webisodes, and one memorable deleted scene is chock full of teens farting. Regardless, the situational humor is often golden. In one bonus extra, Miss Kay and Phil stop at a roadside stand with fresh produce. While Phil waxes on and on about how he doesn’t understand women, Miss Kay is pretending to be into fruit so that she can sneakily get directions to the highway, which Phil refuses to do.

Plenty of "unknown facts" about the clan and other interviews abound in the bonus features, and there should be some extra stuff for fans who have even purchased the shows on DVD in the past. The Blu-ray picture certainly isn’t a necessity, but it’s nicer than the DVD fodder. All in all, if you have a Duck Dynasty lover in your family, you can’t go wrong with the Collector’s Set.

Cassandra Clare’s young adult fiction is heavy on the mythology, telling the tale of a young woman named Clary who learns her life as a normal teenaged girl is not so normal after all after a chance encounter with a vampire and team of teen fighters known as Shadowhunters. While the supernatural component, the popularity of the Young Adult novel, and the talented young cast paved the way for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones to be the next big film franchise, the cards didn’t play out that way. While the movie offers an easy plot and a few characters worth knowing, it frequently delves into Twilight-quality romance—with fewer vampires.

The Duck Dynasty clan has been a huge presence in pop culture over the past couple of years. The Robertsons have made a big impact on television, bringing in incredible ratings and even selling millions of copies of DVDs. Now, they are going to attempt to branch out into another artistic medium, putting together a Christmas album for their most ardent of fans. The first single from the album is a little bit lacking in the lyrics department, but it’s surprisingly catchy, and it’s called “Ragin’ Cajun Redneck Christmas.”

The main members of the Robertson clan recently headed to Nashville, where they signed with Universal’s Nashville label to create Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas. The clan recorded 14 songs for their first album endeavor. Many of the songs on the new album are some Christmas classics, including “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” Regardless, the upcoming album has some original content, as well.

According to THR, Willie Robertson and country songwriter Dallas Davidson penned the above “Ragin’ Cajun Redneck Christmas” single. The clan has also put together a twist on “Deck the Halls,” turning that song into “Duck the Halls.” Willie Robertson sings lead vocals on the “Ragin’ Cajun Redneck Christmas” single, while Phil, Missy, Uncle Si, and plenty of other family members also contribute across the album.

I’m not sure how skilled at singing all of the Robertsons are, but they will get some help on Ragin’ Cajun Redneck Christmas. Veteran country singer Alison Kraus will pop up on one single, as will popular country singer Luke Bryan and George Strait. Even with the help, they’ll have some other big holiday albums to contend with. Kelly Clarkson and Trace Adkins both have country Christmas albums coming, and Jewel and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir also have holiday albums coming out.

The Duck Dynasty clan has found its way into millions of hearts, and the new season of the show will soon be headed into homes. Lionsgate Home Entertainment is putting together Blu-ray and DVD releases for Duck Dynasty: Season 4. Unfortunately, the set won’t be out in time to buy a copy for someone as a holiday gift. Duck Dynasty: Season 4 will street on January 7.

Duck Dynasty has been doing well on A&E since it first aired, but its recent seasons have simply crushed. The Season 4 premiere episode brought in a whopping 11.8 million total viewers when it hit the schedule in August. That’s up from the 9.6 million total viewers that tuned in for the Season 3 finale. Some of that ratings increase between seasons may have been due to word of mouth, but some of it may have been due to the exciting subject matter in the premiere, which followed the nuptials of Phil Robertson and Miss Kay. The couple has been together for like fifty years, and it is no shock that fans would show up in record breaking numbers to see that sweet moment play out on TV.

Not every episode in Season 4 was quite as exciting as the premiere, but we did get to spend a few moments with the family as they talked dating etiquette, house renovations, and warehouse fiascos. Additionally, the season 4 finale was a special Halloween episode complete with a haunted house. If you like Willie, Uncle Si and the rest of the gang, the latest season shouldn’t disappoint.

Honestly, if anything tells you how popular the Duck Dynasty franchise has become, it’s the fact that Season 4 is getting a Blu-ray release. Most reality programs get released on DVD only, if they are released for home entertainment, at all. According to Lionsgate, the first three seasons of Duck Dynasty have sold over 2.5 million DVDs so far. Now only is Season 4 getting a Blu-ray release, the first three seasons of the series will also be available on Blu-ray starting on January 7.

As far as bonus features for the Duck Dynasty: Season 4 set go, the only extra will be “exclusive footage not seen on TV.” I'm hoping some of that extra footage will come straight from the Season 4 opener, but without further details, it's difficult to tell. Although one bonus feature may not be too exciting, the set also won’t run expensively. The Season 4 Blu-ray has the suggested retail price of $19.99 and the DVD’s suggested price is $19.98. Duck Dynasty is becoming a huge phenomenon on A&E. The first Season 4 episode pulled in a whopping 11.8 million total viewers, which is certainly something to talk about. The cast headed to New York City in order to appear on Live with Kelly and Michael earlier this week to talk about the series, as well as share some stories about spending time in the Big Apple. As it turns out, Duck Dynasty cast member Jase Robertson became a victim of “facial profiling.”

Robertson walked into his hotel before the show and asked where the bathrooms were. The employee he approached calmly seemed as he was about to show him where the restrooms were located, but instead mistook him for a homeless man and walked him outside. According to Robertson, the man didn’t treat him particularly rudely, but the event would likely have been jarring with a hint of comedy.

If you are unfamiliar with the Duck Dynasty clan, Robertson and his brothers sport much more hair apiece than most other dudes. Long hair and long beards are the style of choice. Additionally, it’s safe to assume that Live with Kelly and Michael put Robertson up in a pretty nice hotel for the morning TV appearance, and his regular t-shirt and camo pants garb may have stood out against the clothing choices of the hotel’s average clientale. It’s not like the man couldn’t have afforded to stay at a nice place—the Duck Dynasty clan runs a multi-million dollar business and recently re-upped their contracts with A&E for a heftier sum.

The reality star took all in stride, however. He simply turned around and walked right back into the hotel to rejoin his wife.

If you are wondering how the incident ended, all is well and good. Robertson opted to continue staying at the hotel despite the little mishap, rather than raising a stink about the incident, which shows real class. It’s also kind of amusing to think that the man is on a wildly popular television show right now and still manages to maintain anonymity from time to time.

Season 4 of Duck Dynasty got underway on Wednesday night, following the resolution of a salary dispute that also locked in the Robertson clans for future seasons on A&E . It turns out the channel was smart to both offer more money to the Duck Dynasty clan and sign the group on for more episodes, as last’s night’s Season 4 premiere crushed in the ratings, breaking records at the network as well as breaking more general cable records.

The premiere episode for the new season brought in a whopping 11.8 million total viewers. Of those total viewers, 6.3 million were in the coveted 18-49 demographic. These numbers are pretty incredible, with

I’m guessing that doesn’t include sports, but either way, that’s still impressive. Additionally, in the advertising demo, the episode holds the A&E record.

That many millions of viewers is on par with the numbers some of the highly rated network shows manage to bring in. Additionally, those numbers managed to crush the numbers the Season 3 finale of the series brought in. The Season 3 finale aired in April and broke records on A&E, pulling in 9.6 million total viewers—an increase of a million viewers up from that season's premiere. Those records were subsequently broken by last night’s Season 4 opener, and it looks like the ratings will only increase in the future.

This is probably a good thing for A&E, since the network is now shelling out a reported $200,000 an episode to be split between the various members of the Robertson family who appear on the show. Eccentric personalities from Uncle Si to Phil Robertson have certainly helped the show to bring in more viewers.

Last night’s episode was actually a really important episode, featuring the nuptials of clan head Phil Robertson and his partner of 50 years, Miss Kay, tied the knot. Before the ceremony, Si was tasked with distracting the veteran couple until the evening ceremony, which involved a "trip down memory lane." It’ll be hard to beat that plot in the coming weeks, but somehow I get the feeling Duck Dynasty hasn’t reached its ratings epoch, yet.

A&E’s hit show Duck Dynasty has finally earned a Season 4 premiere date. Fans have known the series would return to A&E’s lineup for a while, but some contract snafus prevented A&E from announcing an official return date for quite some time. Luckily, the turnaround from announcement to premiere won’t be too long. Season 4 of Duck Dynasty is already well into the throes of filming and will hit the schedule on August 14.

The Robinson clan was mostly known for creating a popular line of duck calls before Duck Dynasty became a reality series. Now, the family is also known for starring in the reality series, as well as for the beards the men in the clan sport. Each week, audiences are privy to a fairly mundane plot that is peppered with wild comments and personalities. Apparently, that’s enough to keep people coming back for more. A&E now claims the show is the #1 “non-fiction show” on cable, and the ratings for the show at least prove Duck Dynasty is doing very well.

The Season 3 finale actually pulled in 9.6 million total viewers, a number which also happens to be higher than any other A&E program the network has aired, ever. Let’s think about this for a minute. A&E’s scripted program, Longmire, did a little over 3.3 million total viewers last week while The Glades did a little over 2 million total viewers. Duck Dynasty’s numbers are nearly three times what Sheriff Longmire manages to rope in. In fact, Duck Dynasty’s numbers are better than what most programs on NBC bring in and are even competitive with CBS’ hit freshman drama Elementary in the latter half of the season last year. That show crushes.

Unfortunately, these high ratings led to a contract dispute, with Deadline reporting the clan asked for a salary jump to $200,000 per episode—which will likely help out the family members who don’t do as well in the duck call business.

Apparently, some agreement was eventually reached and now A&E is reporting the new season will kick off with a one-hour special episode on August 14 at 10 p.m. ET. The premiere episode should be a winner, at least if you are a fan of the clan and its antics. In the episode, it will by Kay and Phil’s 49th wedding anniversary. Uncle Si is enlisted to distract them, while the rest of the gang puts together a surprise vow renewal ceremony. Hijinks ensue.

New seasons of Duck Dynasty seem to pop up on A&E frequently. Despite this, the series is still pulling in a loyal following for new episodes. Season 3’s finale aired last night and pulled in higher ratings than any other program on A&E, ever. Last night’s finale did a 4.3 rating and pulled in 9.6 million total viewers—which is certainly enough to bring the series back for a fourth season. In comparison, over at Fox, American Idol did a 3.2 rating and 12.3 million total viewers.

Programming on different cable stations has become a viable part of the TV economy over the last several years. Oftentimes, top notch cable programming doesn’t produce the same ratings results as the top notch network programming (we’re talking CBS, not NBC, here), however, programs like Duck Dynasty have been opening up the avenue quite a bit. According to Deadline, last night’s Season 3 finale brought in 5.5 million viewers in the coveted 18-49 demographic alone. Those numbers will certainly help bring advertisers to the cable network.

Duck Dynasty has done well since the bearded wonders first hit A&E. Ratings have been way up since the Season 3 premiere, and on Thursday, A&E also announced the show's upcoming fourth season will begin production shortly. Apparently, there have been some problems with all of the members of the cast, but each have long-term contracts with the reality(ish) series and Season 4 is a definite go. Feuds can be put on hold when there’s money to be made.

This week in home entertainment features some gamers and game characters, a dynasty of sorts, a few under-the-radar indie films, and just in case you were having too much fun, the anniversary limited edition of one of the toughest WWII stories ever captured on film. Read on to learn about some of this week’s best releases, and maybe even a few that slipped under your radar.

Wreck It Ralph

Just a couple of weeks after its streaming digital release, Wreck it Ralph is getting a hard copy alternative, with a 3D Blu-ray combo pack that includes an impressive 3D cover. Wreck-It Ralph may be more enchanting to the average fanboy than the average child, but it’s still a great little animated film, filled with adventure and plenty of jokes from a PG-Rated Sarah Silverman. Directed by The Simpsons and Futurama’s Rich Moore, the film capably works on multiple levels, offering audiences of different ages equivalent enjoyment.

Wreck-It Ralph creates a magical underground video game world, where good guys and bad guys from every game can come together in “Game Central Station” to hang out and even discuss their problems. Ralph (John C. Reilly), a bad guy in a popular-but-aged video game, is having a bit of a mental breakdown. Hoping to catch a medal and be the good guy for once, he ends up embarking on an adventure and learning a few things about friendship and what it really means to be the good guy.

Best Special Feature: This feels like cheating, but the best Wreck-it Ralph bonus feature is the Oscar-winning “Paperman” short. If you haven’t gotten the opportunity to view the wordless love story short, you should buy Wreck-It Ralph, or find it via a streaming outlet, immediately.

Since that felt like cheating, the best actual bonus feature is “Disney Intermission: The Gamer’s Guide to Wreck-It Ralph.” Unfortunately, this feature only comes with the Blu-ray copies of the film. All you have to do is pause the movie and hang out and avid gamer, nerd and comedian Chris Hardwick will pop up on the screen to bring up some of the less obvious gaming moments we might have missed. Some of them are obvious, but things like hidden meanings in numbers and graffiti are pretty interesting.

Schindler’s List 20th Anniversary Limited Edition

Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List was critically acclaimed at the time of its release, earning a best picture win and 6 other Academy Awards, among a slew of other accolades. Twenty years later, the black and white frames of the film are often stunning and, in other moments, nothing short of horrifying. The true story of Oskar Schindler has been memorialized in a riveting picture that looks like it will live on through the ages.

There’s also been no better time to buy a copy of Schindler’s List. Not that the film ever looked bad, but for the 20th anniversary release, Spielberg actually sat down and supervised the film’s transition from the original 35 mm film negative to High Definition. Whatever the size of the television, the picture should be riveting.

Best Special Feature: The bonus features for the set are some of the same as those that came with earlier Schindler’s List releases, most notably the 2004 Collector’s Gift Set for the film. Both of the bonus features have historical value and are a nice watch, but annoyingly, the extras are only available on the DVD copy of the film (which is split between discs, old-school style) and are pretty frustrating in an otherwise-nice Blu-ray release. Since Spielberg was so invested in the restoration process, it would have been nice to see an extra looking into the process or other new extras, as well. Other Special Features:

Duck Dynasty recently returned to huge ratings on A&E, with 8.6 million viewers tuning in for the Season 3 premiere. If you’ve missed the popular reality series, which follows a clan of bearded hunters who run a successful duck call business, you ain’t livin.’ While A&E doesn’t usually offer the greatest sets, generally choosing to split a season up into multiple volumes, at least the DVD set runs cheaply, pricing out at a whopping $10.98. Additionally, the Duck Dynasty: Season 2, Volume 1 set does come with a slew of deleted scenes.

The Duck Dynasty cast is back in the saddle, or in camouflage, as it were. A&E’s hit reality series returned on Wednesday night for its Season 3 premiere and, as it turns out, an inflated number of viewers has now decided the series is worth a watch. In fact, 8.6 million total viewers signed on for last night’s episode of Duck Dynasty.

On Wednesday, Duck Dynasty aired back-to-back episodes at 10 p.m. ET, thus managing to beat the likes of network TV’s CSI in total viewers. Additionally, THR is reporting the Season 3 premiere was up 132% from the show’s Season 2 debut. That’s a wildly impressive figure, but the good news doesn’t end there. The show’s first Season 3 telecast ranks as the network’s biggest telecast ever, also winning the #1 cable telecast for the night. I’m going to go ahead and say it’s the beards that are drawing in the big numbers.

The news comes just a couple of days after the cast of Duck Dynasty appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. They were supposed to appear opposite Morrissey, but the long-time animal lover famously refused to appear on Tuesday’s episode of Kimmel’s late night show due to the Duck Dynasty crew’s hunting preferences. The controversy probably had very little to do with last night’s swell in premiere ratings, but it can’t hurt to have your show’s name in the news right before a premiere date, either. Either way, congrats to A&E for finding such high success in such an unlikely show.
