The Season 4 finale of FBI: Most Wanted is just days away, and the May 23 episode promises to revisit the tragic loss that has motivated Remy Scott (Dylan McDermott) for decades: his brother’s murder. The team is ready to help Remy catch the real killer. Only time will tell if they'll be able to get justice for Mikey a quarter of a century after he was murdered, but some behind-the-scenes images for the finale reveal that McDermott at least had a buddy on set with him: Otis, his dog. 

FBI: Most Wanted’s fourth season finale is somewhat forebodingly titled “Heaven Falling,” and one behind-the-scenes image seems to show Dylan McDermott in character… if Remy was partnering with Otis the dog instead of one of the other agents, that is! Take a look:

Who wouldn’t trust that duo to join forces for justice? FBI: International has Tank, after all! In all seriousness, McDermott looks so very in character in the first behind-the-scenes image that it might not look BTS at all if not for the chair he’s standing in front of. The next photo gives a closer look at Otis sitting in the star’s seat on FBI: Most Wanted: 

Otis actually appeared in a Season 4 episode (available streaming via Paramount+ subscription) back in April, but if Dylan McDermott can play more than one character in this TV universe after his time on Law & Order: Organized Crime, why couldn't Most Wanted’s cutest canine if another on-camera opportunity ever arose? Of course, the finale may be no place for any pup with the hunt for Mikey’s killer, although McDermott had a smile behind-the-scenes:

It remains to be seen if Remy will have any reasons to smile in “Heaven Falling.” Most Wanted gave him what Dylan McDermott described as a “really sweet and innocent” ending in Season 3, but that doesn’t guarantee that he’s in for a happy ending in Season 4. For her part, Keisha Castle-Hughes had a peace sign BTS:

The Season 4 finale will also feature FBI’s Alana De La Garza as SAC Isobel Castille, not too long after she and Remy shared a moment about difficult decisions at the end of the three-show crossover. “Heaven Falling” was written by showrunner David Hudgins, and the promo gives a tease of what to expect:

Fortunately, all three shows are already guaranteed to return in the 2023-2024 TV season, as CBS announced a two-season renewal last spring. In light of the three Law & Order and three One Chicago shows also being renewed in the FBIs' shared TV universe, there are some questions worth asking as we look ahead to summer hiatus!

Spoilers ahead for Episode 13 of FBI: Most Wanted Season 4, called “Transaction.”

FBI: Most Wanted took the task force to Minnesota in “Transaction,” where the race to rescue a kidnapped teenage girl ended with a very close call with her father nearly killing her. It was an intense episode that also avoided delving into the plot from the previous two episodes, which touched on Remy’s resolve to keep the man convicted of killing his brother behind bars. That storyline ended on a cliffhanger of sorts at the close of the February 14 episode, and some comments from Dylan McDermott to CinemaBlend suggest that it’s not over. So when will Most Wanted revisit Remy’s feelings about his brother’s case being revisited? 

To recap: while Remy’s impassioned speech about keeping Larry Davis in prison despite a medical crisis seemed to close the door on him ever being freed, a documentary filmmaker dropped by Remy's apartment in the February 14 episode with the news that Davis had filed for a new trial, claiming that key evidence was withheld from the original trial that resulted in his conviction. The filmmaker plans on making the Davis case the center of her project about corruption, and asked Remy to participate.  

Remy completely shut her down and told her to leave without even seeming to consider that Davis might actually be innocent of Mikey’s murder. She did manage to leave her business card behind, though, and it seemed like there was just too much detail for this plot thread to be entirely dropped. Speaking with CinemaBlend recently about the gruesome episode that he deemed his favorite of Season 4, star Dylan McDermott opened up about Remy’s reaction to the filmmaker’s pitch:

He may not have been ready to hear it from the filmmaker when she first revealed that she wants him to be involved in a project that could end up chronicling Davis’ exoneration; will that be the case if he’s able to cool down and consider what she said? Or is she out of sight, out of mind, to allow him to focus on cases of the week and not dwell on his own losses? “Transaction” certainly showed Remy doing his job without dealing with any distractions about his brother. 

That said, the official description for the episode that airs on February 28 includes a tease that may hint that the storyline will be revisited within a week. The description from CBS reads: 

While the filmmaker from the February 14 episode would technically qualify as somebody from his past, she also didn’t introduce herself as a “true crime producer,” so the new episode – called “Wanted: America” – may introduce an entirely new one-off character. There’s no guarantee that this producer will have anything to do with Davis potentially getting a second trial. 

Still, the mention of a producer just weeks after Remy was approached by a documentary filmmaker leads me to think that there’s going to be a connection. Unfortunately, the promo doesn’t give away any details on that front. Take a look:

The death of Mikey motivating him as an agent is one of the first reveals that fans received about Remy as Jess LaCroix’s replacement, so keep tuning in for any new developments! Spoilers ahead for Episode 12 of FBI: Most Wanted Season 4, called “Black Mirror.”

FBI: Most Wanted picked up where the previous episode left off when it comes to Remy’s state of mind, with “Black Mirror” proving that the agent wasn’t kidding about wanting to keep his brother’s killer behind bars. As if waiting on word of whether the man would be released from prison wasn’t stressful enough, the kidnapping of two Vermont teens escalated into a case that was incredibly dark even by Most Wanted standards. Actor Dylan McDermott spoke with CinemaBlend about “Black Mirror,” explaining why it’s his favorite episode of the season, what he ad-libbed, and more! 

The kidnapping case put the task force on the hunt for a pastor and his brother, with Remy going undercover as a priest to try and get to the last surviving teen before it was too late. The brothers also weren’t just run-of-the-mill killers with a vendetta against some people who had wronged them; they had a scheme that involved forced and extremely grotesque surgical body modification. 

The teenage girl was killed after an escape attempt, and Ray Cannon got to the teenage boy before he could be mutilated into a devil, but the bad guys’ intentions still make this one of the more gruesome episodes of the series. When McDermott spoke with CinemaBlend about the episode, he weighed in on how Most Wanted manages to continue creating new cases and criminals who are still horrifying, saying:

Dylan McDermott specifically shouted out showrunner David Hudgins, who has kept the show going through massive changes like the death of Jess LaCoix and debut of Remy Scott. It’s also high praise to name this case as not just possibly the most horrifying of Most Wanted history, but all three of the FBIs. 

Even though the brothers were stopped before the absolute worst could happen, it was a very close call and could have gone spectacularly wrong if the agents had been off by even a few more moments. It made for an intense episode, and I noted to the Most Wanted star that it can be a great thing when viewers can’t predict how a story will end in the current era of television, and he responded:

The case was also hitting very close to home for Remy, as he desperately tried to save the two teens while the question still hung over him about whether the man convicted for killing his brother would be given his conditional release. He insisted on going undercover as a priest and gave everything he had to take the twisted pastor down. By the end, he had one message for the priest after shooting him dead: “Good riddance.”

While the priest was about as despicable of a character as any fugitive who has appeared on FBI: Most Wanted, it’s not every week that Remy will say what basically amounts to that he’s glad that somebody is dead. According to McDermott, that moment wasn’t in the original script. The actor said:

Dylan McDermott came to FBI: Most Wanted Season 3 fresh off of his role as Richard Wheatley on Law & Order: Organized Crime, although his two different key characters in the nine-show Dick Wolf TV universe are very different. Still, ad-libbing is something that the actor has been able to do as both characters. 

In fact, Remy himself seemed to do some ad-libbing of his own after he insisted on going undercover, which ultimately led to him basically putting the priest through an inquisition. This happened after Barnes tried to tell him that they could pursue the priest without going undercover. McDermott shed some light on why Remy wanted to go under instead of finding a different way:

Remy getting his hands dirty did produce results, and the team cut it very close in saving the teenage boy from being mutilated. It probably wouldn’t be healthy for Remy if he tried to conduct cases like this on a weekly basis, but he also won’t be balancing as much personal turmoil on a weekly basis either! Of course, the arrival of a documentary filmmaker planted the seeds that the man convicted for Mikey’s murder might be innocent after all, so Remy’s story with his family may not be done.

FBI: Most Wanted is returning to CBS after a brief break, and the new episode on February 14 will put the pressure on Remy in a way that viewers don’t often see. The team will be on the case of a pair of kidnapped teens, all while Remy deals with the latest development with the man who murdered his brother all those years ago. Star Dylan McDermott opened up about the episode, called “Black Mirror,” in a conversation with CinemaBlend, including what it was like to go undercover as a priest as Remy. 

On top of the kidnapping case that will lead the agents to a pastor and his brother in the February 14 episode, fans will remember that Remy recently got the news from his sister that the man convicted of killing their brother wanted to be freed from prison on a conditional medical release since he was dying from cancer. Claire wanted to just let the case go and believed that the killer had paid his debt after a quarter century in prison; Remy quite vehemently disagreed. Speaking with CinemaBlend, Dylan McDermott explained that Remy was “shocked” by his sister’s words, and continued: 

Based on the request for a conditional medical release, the convicted killer's “dying day” might come sooner rather than later, and happen behind bars if Remy gets his way. Of course, that’s a fairly big “if” at this point, particularly if nobody else from the family is going to argue against it. Remy being motivated by the death of his brother was actually one of the first things that FBI: Most Wanted revealed about the character when he stepped up to replace Jess LaCroix. McDermott shared that he “always” looks forward to storylines involving Remy’s feelings about Mikey, and continued: 

Even if the task force leader isn’t opening up about his brother on a weekly basis, or constantly talking to his coworkers about being motivated by Mikey’s death, Dylan McDermott is able to use that backstory as fuel for his character. That comes in especially handy in light of just how long a season of FBI: Most Wanted is from a production standpoint, as he elaborated: 

FBI: Most Wanted (as well as many of the others in the nine-show Dick Wolf TV universe) is often categorized as a procedural, with the main characters investigating new cases on a weekly basis. For Dylan McDermott and Remy Scott, however, there is an ongoing storyline for him as a character as well as the lead FBI agent on the fugitive task force. When I noted that TV characters having histories and threads that continue beyond just one week can help viewers become invested, McDermott replied:

There are certainly a lot of TV options nowadays, between broadcast network competition, premium cable offerings, and of course all that streaming services have to offer. (FBI: Most Wanted itself can be found streaming with a Paramount+ subscription.) Keeping fans invested can keep shows going, and that investment undoubtedly contributed to why Most Wanted earned a two-season renewal along with FBI and FBI: International. 

This was particularly impressive for Most Wanted in light of the Season 3 death of Jess LaCroix, played by original series star Julian McMahon. The loss of Jess was on McDermott’s mind when he joined (fresh off of playing the villainous Richard Wheatley over on Law & Order: Organized Crime) the CBS show, as he said:

McDermott was certainly playing a very bad guy on Organized Crime as the mastermind ultimately responsible for the death of the main character’s wife, so he has had a lot of work to do in establishing Remy over the episodes since he arrived on Most Wanted. And in “Black Mirror” on February 14, that will involve Remy going undercover as a priest! The priestly twist was revealed early on in images for the episode, and the star previewed how going undercover as a priest is different than past times that he’s gone under: 

While it’s safe to say that the parallels between Remy Scott the seasoned FBI agent and Dylan McDermott the actor are probably pretty limited in “Black Mirror,” the actor did have some personal experience to draw upon to play a priest. And in fact, he enjoyed playing the priest so much that he’d be game to do it again, as McDermott shared:

While the star of course didn’t drop all the spoilers of what happens that leads Remy to go undercover as a priest – or whether it’s possible that he’ll be able to revisit that persona again in the future – McDermott going “all in” is pretty promising for whatever happens in the new episode! It sounds like “Black Mirror” is an episode that fans won’t want to miss, with a case that somehow combines Remy pretending to be a priest while seemingly also dealing with the aftermath of his brother’s killer wanting to be released from jail.

Ryan Murphy is one of the most notable television producers working today. He is the mastermind behind FOX's Glee, 9-1-1, and Scream Queens, and has produced a number of series for FX, including American Horror Story and American Crime Story, as well as Pose. In 2018, Murphy signed a $300 million deal with Netflix that resulted in a number of successful shows for the streamer, like The Politician, Ratched, and most recently Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and The Watcher. The latter two are a couple of the most popular series streaming right now.

There are several reasons for Murphy's success, including genre-bending entertainment, kooky characters, and outlandish storytelling that always intrigues. However, many cite his casts and frequent collaborators for tending to elevate the material. Here is a list of some of the most frequent and reliable collaborators who Murphy relies on for his fan-favorite television series.

Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson seems to find her way into almost every Ryan Murphy-produced endeavor. She has played a variety of characters on almost every season of American Horror Story, excluding Season 9, 1984. Her roles on the anthology series have ranged from a starring role as Ana Winters in Asylum and Roanoke, to a guest appearance in Murder House. 

She also starred in the hit Netflix show, Ratched, and American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson, for which she won an Emmy for playing lawyer Marcia Clark. In addition, Paulson played supporting roles in Feud: Bette and Joan, and American Crime Story: Impeachment, for which she received yet another Emmy nomination. The actress has collaborated with Murphy since the very beginning, when she played a guest role on Nip/Tuck. 

Evan Peters

Evan Peters is yet another darling of Murphy's. He has starred in nine seasons of American Horror Story, only excluding 1984 and New York City. Like Paulson, Peters' AHS roles have ranged from centerpiece characters like Tate from Murder House, to more experimental seasons like Cult and Apocalypse where the actor has portrayed multiple characters throughout. 

He also acted as a producer for the Double Feature season. In addition to AHS, Peters plays Stan Bowes, a member of the Trump Organization on the FX series, Pose.  Most notably, he plays the titular role in Netflix's Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. 

Darren Criss

Darren Criss has been a Murphy favorite since his Glee performance as Blaine, the a cappella-singing love interest to Chris Colfer's Kurt. He switched things up by following that with The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, where he played the leading role, serial killer Andrew Cunanan. His performance was critically acclaimed and he swept the awards' circuit. He went on to work with Murphy again in Hollywood. In addition, Criss guest starred in an episode of AHS: Hotel.

Jessica Lange

Jessica Lange is yet another favorite. The Oscar winning actress has participated in five seasons of American Horror Story, most notably, Murder House, Coven, Freak Show, and Asylum, and makes a guest appearance in Apocalypse. She also had a starring role in FX's Feud: Bette and Joan, where she played Joan Crawford. In addition, Lange plays the cunning grandmother to Zoey Deutch in The Politician. She is also set to star in another Murphy-led project about Marlene Dietrich for Netflix, so even if she's done with AHS, there is more Lange/Murphy to come. 

Emma Roberts

Nothing says Ryan Murphy like Emma Roberts, who is yet another American Horror Story alum. She participated in five seasons of the FX show, including Coven, Freak Show, Apocalypse, and 1984, while also making a single episode appearance in Cult. In addition, Roberts was the lead in the sorority horror show, Scream Queens, which ran for three seasons. 

Kathy Bates

Kathy Bates is yet another Oscar winner who caught Murphy's eye. The Misery actress starred in five seasons of American Horror Story, including her iconic, bone-chilling character in Coven, for which she won an Emmy, and the fan-favorite evil concierge, Iris, in Hotel. Bates also continued her collaboration by playing Joan Blondell in Feud: Bette and Joan.

Dylan McDermott

Dylan McDermott is another familiar face for Murphy fans. The actor is one of the original stars of American Horror Story, and participated in five seasons, including AHS: Asylum. He is best known for his performance as the father of a problematic family in Murder House, which the season is centered around. He also plays a scandalous gas-station owner in the Murphy-produced Hollywood and makes an appearance in Netflix's The Politician.

Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett is another favorite of the creator's. She is the star of FOX's 9-1-1, where she plays the badass Athena Grant. She has also made an appearance on the spin-off show, 9-1-1: Lone Star. In addition, Basset has been in a grand total of five seasons of American Horror Story. Most notably, in Coven, she portrays a fictionalized version Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. She reprised the role for Apocalypse. 

Finn Wittrock

Finn Wittrock has found his way into numerous Murphy projects, including five seasons of American Horror Story. He made his AHS debut in Freak Show, where his incredibly disturbed character earned him an Emmy nomination. He has gone on to appear in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and Netflix's Ratched. In addition, he plays a supporting role in the Murphy-directed television film, The Normal Heart. 

Patti LuPone

Nobody loves Broadway like Murphy, so it makes sense that Patti LuPone would be featured in many of his projects. LuPone participated in two seasons of American Horror Story, Coven and NYC, as well as more glamorous roles in Pose and Hollywood. The Broadway legend also makes a cameo appearance in Glee, where she plays herself.  

Matt Bomer

Who doesn't love Matt Bomer? Ryan Murphy sure does. The White Collar star has made a number of appearances in the showrunner's projects, including three seasons of American Horror Story. He had small roles in Freak Show and Stories, and most notably had a major role as Lady Gaga's lover in Hotel. Bomer has a major role in The Normal Heart and Boys in the Band, and makes brief appearances in The New Normal and Glee. He also got behind the camera, directing an episode of American Crime Story: Versace. 

Leslie Grossman

Leslie Grossman has worked with Ryan Murphy since the early days of Nip/Tuck. The actress had minor roles in his short-lived series, Popular, and The New Normal, and additionally starred in five seasons of American Horror Story, and has had leading roles in every season she's been in. She continues to be apart of the show, and was a definite stand out in the Season 11 cast.

Jim Parsons

When Jim Parsons left The Big Bang Theory, he made it a point to work with Ryan Murphy. The actor has had starring roles in films like The Boys in the Band and The Normal Heart, and plays the predatory manager to Rock Hudson in Netflix's Hollywood. The role was something very different for Parsons, but Murphy has a talent for drawing out performances from actors playing against type. 

Billie Lourd

Billie Lourd is another young actress Murphy has taken under his wing. The Star Wars actress started her collaboration with the producer in Scream Queens, where she played one of the killer sorority girls. She subsequently starred in six seasons of American Horror Story, playing a main role in most, including NYC, the most recent season. 

Connie Britton

Before The White Lotus, Connie Britton was a staple in the Ryan Murphy Universe. She is most known for her performance as Vivien Harmon in Murder House, a role she reprised in Apocalypse that landed her an Emmy nomination. She was also a fan favorite in 9-1-1, where she played a 911 operator. In addition, she played Faye Resnick, a friend of Nicole Brown Simpson in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story. 

Lea Michele

Some would say Ryan Murphy made Lea Michele a star when he cast her as Rachel Berry in the musical teen comedy, Glee. She became one of the most recognizable stars from the show, and the role earned her both Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. She also dawned a neck brace as an unconventional sorority girl in Scream Queens. 

Clearly Murphy has his favorites, and continues to work with the same reliable, talented actors in order to make his projects as binge-worthy as possible. Other notable collaborators include stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Frances Conroy, Lily Rabe, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Lynch, and John Stamos. The summer hiatus is in full swing with the biggest shows on network television on break until their fall returns, but FBI: Most Wanted delivered some big changes that may remain on fans’ minds for quite some time. After the death of Agent Jess LaCroix, the first FBI spinoff recruited Law & Order: Organized Crime actor Dylan McDermott, who went from playing the big bad of OC to the lead agent of the task force on Most Wanted. Richard Wheatley and Agent Remy Scott couldn’t be much more different, but the actor shared one way that playing Wheatley on OC inspired him as Remy. 

Dylan McDermott spoke with CinemaBlend for the highly dangerous Season 3 finale, which aired before the news that the fugitive task force was losing another agent. Ahead of hiatus, I noted that something particularly notable about Remy is that he brings a new kind of humor to a show that gets pretty dark, with my personal favorite being the straight-faced reveal that he loves Kevin James movies. After confirming that he loves playing the humor, McDermott explained his motivation and the Organized Crime inspiration:

The cases of FBI: Most Wanted don’t exactly leave a lot of room for pranks or slapstick shenanigans, which is also true for Law & Order: Organized Crime. Over on NBC’s OC, Wheatley was cracking jokes as a villain, whereas Most Wanted features Remy bringing some humor to lighten up some very grim circumstances. The character even came to Most Wanted with a tragic backstory and complicated situation with his mom and sister, but he loves those Kevin James movies!

The show really did need a little bit of extra lightness by the time that McDermott debuted in Season 3, which was in the aftermath of Jess’ heartbreaking death and Barnes’ decision to step away to take advantage of her maternity leave and mourn her dear friend. The actor has weighed in on what he imagines for Remy’s dynamic with Barnes when Season 4 picks up and she is presumably back, after actress Roxy Sternberg took her real-life maternity leave. 

Whether or not Dylan McDermott will get to continue bringing some lightness to the dark cases as Remy remains to be seen, but he certainly settled into his role at FBI: Most Wanted in what could have been a jarring transition from playing a villain on one Dick Wolf show to playing a hero on a different Dick Wolf show. He did have the benefit of filming Remy’s introduction to the rest of the team as his very first scene on Most Wanted, adding a sense of truth to the development. 

The very good news for fans who are already ready for the show to return is that more than just one more season is guaranteed. Along with FBI and FBI: International, FBI: Most Wanted received a renewal for two more seasons, bringing it up to at least five seasons on CBS. The CBS fall schedule reveals that the FBIs will return to dominate Tuesday nights, and fans can always revisit the first three Most Wanted seasons streaming with a Paramount+ subscription over the next few months. 

FBI: Most Wanted has seen a lot of stars come and go over the past couple of years, with two departing in Season 3 alone. Kellan Lutz left as Kenny Crosby back in the fall, while Julian McMahon heartbreakingly departed when Jess LaCroix was killed off back in the early spring. Now, the show is sadly losing another star with Miguel Gomez exiting, but fans still have plenty of reasons to feel secure for Season 4 based on some comments from Dylan McDermott. 

Miguel Gomez, who has played Special Agent Ivan Ortiz since part way through Season 2, is leaving FBI: Most Wanted because of what Deadline reports is a creative decision. Ortiz was very much part of the team in Season 3, and one of the anchors after the death of Jess and temporary departure of Barnes before Dylan McDermott’s Remy really settled in. 

That said, Ortiz was absent for the Season 3 finale back in May, with the excuse given in the show as him needing to be in Los Angeles to help his unwell father. The finale case could have used all hands on deck, and Dylan McDermott shared with CinemaBlend that Ortiz’s absence meant that it was “a thin team” trying to save the lives of not only their families, but plenty of civilians in New York as well. He bonded with Hana after she returned from her absence, and their friendship will be a sad loss for the series as well as what he brought to the show as a character. 

Of course, Most Wanted is largely a procedural show that has survived the departures and replacements for a number of characters, with Alexa Davalos joining early in Season 3 to replace Crosby and McDermott coming on board in the latter half after a few episodes of aftermath for Jess’ death. The rest of the cast will reportedly remain unchanged, with the returns of McDermott, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Davalos, and Roxy Sternberg.

Why Fans Still Have ‘Security’ For Season 4

Roxy Sternberg, who plays Barnes, was absent from the last several episodes of the third season (which you can rewatch with a Paramount+ subscription) due to her maternity leave, but if Dylan McDermott’s ideas for how Remy and Barnes will interact come to fruition, fans could have a lot to look forward to with their dynamic. In fact, in speaking with CinemaBlend for the Season 3 finale in May, McDermott spoke about the two-season renewal that still leaves fans with something to celebrate. McDermott shared his reaction to the double renewal, as the actor representing what was then the latest cast change: 

While there are changes on the way with the looming departure of Ortiz, fans do have the security that two more seasons of FBI: Most Wanted are guaranteed. With the other series regulars slated to return, hopefully the beginning of Season 4 will feel like the show getting back to business as usual as much as possible. Whether or not Ortiz will appear as a guest star to be written out or simply have his absence explained by the other agents remains to be seen. Personally, I hope to see Miguel Gomez again on Most Wanted, as Ortiz was a valuable part the team. 

The fourth season of FBI: Most Wanted will premiere on CBS in the fall, returning to its time slot on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. to close out a night of FBI action. Both FBI and FBI: International also received renewals for another two seasons, so that solid block of crime drama action will keep on going for the next couple of years. FBI: Most Wanted delivered a lot of changes in the third season, starting with one series regular’s departure in the premiere, continuing with the death of Jess LaCroix, and then saying a goodbye to Barnes before Dylan McDermott joined the team as new SSA Remy Scott. The timing of actress Roxy Sternberg’s real-life maternity leave meant that Barnes took her in-show leave before she could meet Remy, but McDermott shared his thoughts with CinemaBlend on how he thinks his character and Barnes will react to each other in Season 4. 

Barnes had a very close relationship with Jess, which Julian McMahon described as “extremely unique,” and his death had such an impact on her that it motivated her to take her maternity leave after Charlotte gave birth to their son. To contrast, Remy Scott came in with no strings attached to any member of the team, but has settled in as the new leader. When I spoke with Dylan McDermott about the end of Season 3, he weighed in on what he thinks their dynamic will look like when Sternberg returns: 

FBI: Most Wanted won’t return until the fall, so fans won’t get to see how exactly the show handles Roxy Sternberg’s return and Barnes’ dynamic with Remy Scott, but it has already been renewed for another two seasons. As Dylan McDermott noted, there was some awkwardness with his character’s first introduction to the rest of the team, which was comprised of Gaines, Hana, and Ortiz with Barnes out. Fans can probably be confident that both Remy and Barnes will be as professional and capable as ever, and the dynamic could show a different side of these characters. 

Only time will tell what their dynamic will truly look like and whether Dylan McDermott’s vision for their interactions is what happens in Season 4. He did explain how far his dedication went in nailing that sense of awkwardness with Remy meeting a new group of people, and jumping straight into a case with them. As it turns out, the first scene that he ever filmed for FBI: Most Wanted was also Remy’s first introduction to the other agents. He shared:

The characters were professional even while they were all still feeling each other out as agents, and Remy’s methods were different than Jess’ were. The newcomer did open up pretty early on about the tragedy in his past that motivates him. The team was fortunately solid as a rock by the time that the “highly dangerous” finale rolled around, as Remy was forced to make a fateful decision about taking down their foe. McDermott continued reflecting on his entry into the series, saying:

The tone of the show in the new era with Remy stepping into Jess’ shoes obviously worked for fans, as Most Wanted earned its double-season renewal before Season 3 even came to an end. There should be plenty of time for Barnes and Remy to meet and form their own working relationship. The third season finale was also missing another member of the team, with Ortiz out of the state during the big case. 

FBI and FBI: International also received renewals for two more seasons, with International set to pick up in the fall after the Season 1 finale that featured Forrester going rogue. FBI actually has not yet aired its Season 4 finale, as the high-stakes case involved a potential school shooting, and CBS chose to pull the episode from the lineup in light of the shooting in Uvalde, Texas. Spoilers ahead for the Season 3 finale of FBI: Most Wanted on CBS, called “A Man Without a Country.”

FBI: Most Wanted ended its rollercoaster ride of a third season with “A Man Without a Country,” which pitted Remy Scott and the team against an oligarch whose attempts to flee the country resulted in a terror spree in New York City. Sarkov made things personal when he targeted the agents’ families while they tried to connect the dots to the mole who was leaking their information. By the end of the hour, Sarkov was dead, the case was closed, and another season of Most Wanted was over. Dylan McDermott opened up to CinemaBlend about the “executive decision” that his character had to make for the greater good, plus how the finale ended for Remy.

Sarkov unleashing terror attacks on New York created some sky-high stakes for the agents even as they could only hope that their loved ones were protected at the safe house, and many lives could have been lost if the agents were even a few seconds slower than they were. They were just in time to make it to the subway and find a backpack that began releasing deadly gas; they just weren’t in time for everybody. When a homeless man was slow to get to his feet, Remy had to decide whether to keep the doors open for him to escape but risk the gas getting out, or close them on the man and guarantee his death. 

Remy didn’t hesitate once it became clear that he had just those two choices, and he ordered that the doors be closed. When Dylan McDermott spoke with CinemaBlend about the finale, he addressed his character’s decision to shut the doors before the man could escape:

Remy’s choices were basically between a bad scenario and a much worse scenario, and he went with the one that saved the most lives, even if he couldn’t avert tragedy altogether. He did try to help the man up until the very last moment and the subway doors closed. It was an “executive decision” that saved countless lives, including Remy’s and those of the other agents and law enforcement officers on the scene. 

When I noted that Remy not even hesitating to make a life-or-death call that might have given other agents pause showed his strengths as a leader, McDermott concurred, saying:

Dylan McDermott joined FBI: Most Wanted as the new leading man in the second half of the season following the departure of Julian McMahon and death of Jess LaCroix, and really established Remy as a character who connects with people within a relatively short span of time. 

The bonds with the other agents have certainly helped him to settle in, even though Barnes has been absent (due to actress Roxy Sternberg’s real-life maternity leave) for weeks and Ortiz was missing from the finale. McDermott weighed in on whether Ortiz’s absence played a part in Remy’s anxiety in the episode:

The finale was packed with so much stress for the agents, and so much intensity from almost the very beginning, that Most Wanted could have been building to a major cliffhanger, like what FBI: International star Luke Kleintank previewed was on the way for his show. In fact, I spent the last minute or so of Remy happily reuniting with April expecting for a shot to ring out or Remy’s car to explode after she sat down or something else to go wrong for him, instead of the uplifting ending of the duo heading out for a date. 

When I noted that I was expecting disaster to strike rather than a lovely final scene after the intensity of the hour, Dylan McDermott shared his reaction to Remy getting the ending that he did:

Who needs a cliffhanger when there’s the culmination of an episode that was rough for the agents on professional and personal levels? The Remy who was eager to hit the town with April wasn’t quite the same Remy who was added to the team following Jess’ death. He got a happy ending to offset his tragic backstory with his brother and complicated relationship with his mother. The actor weighed in on his character’s growth after the third season:

Fans only got six episodes with Dylan McDermott as SSA Remy Scott in Season 3, but there’s no need to worry about whether he’ll be back on CBS in the fall. FBI: Most Wanted (along with the original FBI and FBI: International) earned two-season renewals, and McDermott was celebrating with his co-stars in the video announcement of the good news.

FBI: Most Wanted has gone many changes in the third season, and the arrival of Dylan McDermott’s SSA Remy Scott ushered in a new era of the show following the death of Jess LaCroix. The last episode of Season 3 is going to send the team on the trail of an oligarch by the name of Sarkov, whose terror spree in New York City will raise some finale-worthy stakes. It will be a “highly dangerous” case, according to McDermott, and hit close to home for the team. 

The upcoming finale is called “A Man Without a Country,” and will be the first with Dylan McDermott as leading man after he joined the show in the second half of Season 3. He spoke with CinemaBlend about the big episode on May 24, and while fans will have to wait until Tuesday night to find out everything that happens, the star shared his reaction to the script when he first read it: 

“Highly dangerous” sounds about right for an FBI: Most Wanted finale that’s set in New York City! That’s not to say that it’ll be grim and intense from start to finish, with McDermott vouching for some “great humor.” It sounds like fans have a lot to look forward to, even if it might have them on the edges of their seats throughout the hour. Most Wanted has already been renewed for another two seasons, so the finale also won’t be the end of the road. 

The team has spent most of three seasons tracking the worst of the worst criminals across the country, sometimes traveling hundreds of miles over the course of chasing one fugitive. With the episode description for “A Man Without a Country” revealing that the oligarch’s terror spree will take place in New York while desperately trying to escape, I asked McDermott if the case hits differently for the team with the action taking place so close to home, and he shared: 

The team is used to being in danger by this point, but their civilian families are usually well out of the line of fire while the agents are in the field. The Season 3 finale will blend the personal with the professional with their loved ones targeted, and it doesn’t bode well if this is a criminal with enough resources to force their families into a safe house. This bad guy being dubbed “probably the most dangerous character” of the entire season is certainly saying something, considering what happened to Kenny and then what happened to Jess! 

Remy’s return to New York has meant reunions with his mother and sister, which haven’t been without complications, particularly in light of his mom’s health struggles and his brother’s death. Dylan McDermott shared how Sarkov targeting families will hit Remy in light of these recent reunions, saying:

Whether or not Remy can resolve this case quickly remains to be seen, but it’s probably safe to say that Most Wanted won’t wrap the finale case half an hour in. For the sake of the team, hopefully they manage to catch the fugitive without much collateral damage! The group is already short one member, with Barnes off on maternity leave while actress Roxy Sternberg takes her own real-life maternity leave.

Spoilers ahead for Episode 18 of FBI: Most Wanted Season 3, called “Reaper.”

FBI: Most Wanted returned to business as usual with “Reaper,” although fans may still need a few more episodes to get used to Dylan McDermott’s Remy Scott leading the team following the death of Julian McMahon’s Jess LaCroix. Although Most Wanted shed some light on what motivates Remy in his first episode last week, there are still more questions than answers about the newcomer. “Reaper” dropped another clue about his past by revealing a tidbit about his mom, and some comments from both McDermott and showrunner David Hudgins prove that viewers won’t have to wait long for payoff. 

Family was more of a theme than usual in “Reaper” after Hana got the news that her birth mother had died without meeting her, although she did leave her biological daughter $50,000 in her will. Hana bonded a bit with her new boss during the course of the episode as well, which culminated in a heart-to-heart where he revealed some more of his family history: 

The scene ended with the two making a deal that he would go see his mom if Hana accepted the $50k, and this won’t be a case of Remy making good on his end of the bet off-screen. Dylan McDermott and and FBI: Most Wanted showrunner David Hudgins spoke with CinemaBlend and other outlets at a press Q&A ahead of McDermott’s first episode on April 12, and both mentioned Remy’s mother. 

At the time, McDermott had filmed a total of three episodes of Most Wanted after jumping to CBS from his previous home on NBC as Law & Order: Organized Crime’s Richard Wheatley. The actor shared that he “had a scene the other day with my [Remy’s] mother” that showed off Remy’s ability to bounce back from heavy scenes. Since his mom didn’t appear in his first episode last week or “Reaper” this week, it’s safe to say that fans will meet his mom in the next new episode. 

David Hudgins also teased the arrival of the character, saying that “there’s more to that story that informs Remy” when it comes to his mom. All things considered, Most Wanted has revealed a surprising amount about Remy’s family in the span of two episodes. The biggest reveal so far was of course how his brother’s death motivated him to become an FBI agent, but sharing that his father is dead could play a part in his story. 

And it’s already confirmed that his mom will make an appearance after he shared that he feels guilty for not making it a priority to see her in her condition, so the family plot for Remy is only thickening. FBI: Most Wanted sent the Task Force on the trail of some murders that initially seemed simply tied to a forbidden love between a teen and an older man, but the plot thickened and proved that the real villain was hiding in plain sight. “Covenant” also introduced former Law & Order: Organized Crime star Dylan McDermott as Remy Scott to replace Julian McMahon’s Jess LaCroix. Remy was clearly charming and capable, but it wasn’t until the end of the episode that the show shed some light on what drives him. McDermott and Most Wanted boss David Hudgins opened up about Remy’s big reveal as well as what will come next. 

The episode ended with Remy and the rest of the team (with the exception of Barnes after making her important decision) out for a night of axe-throwing and drinks to unwind, and Remy opened up about what drives him. Long ago, his brother was murdered after local law enforcement fell short on their investigation, and that motivated Remy to become an agent and do everything in his power to prevent the same kinds of tragedies for others. In a Q&A with CinemaBlend and other outlets about the new era of FBI: Most Wanted with Remy replacing Jess, Dylan McDermott shared his approach to the character’s backstory:

A character coming in with a tragic backstory isn’t unprecedented when it comes to TV procedurals, but FBI: Most Wanted took a refreshing approach with Remy. He came out and told his new teammates what had happened instead of turning it into a closely-guarded secret, and McDermott confirmed that the backstory has played a part in how he portrayed his character in the three episodes that he’d already filmed by the time that he and showrunner David Hudgins spoke with press. The actor continued, sharing what’s different about his new character:

The tragedy of losing his brother drives Remy, but he’s not so traumatized that he can’t function without his personal feelings affecting the case or preventing him from bonding with the other agents on the task force. McDermott’s comments echo what the showrunner said about how Remy compares to Jess LaCroix as a leader, and all signs point toward a “quest” that should be intriguing to watch over the remaining episodes of Season 3. 

David Hudgins weighed in with his own perspective on building the character of Remy and why Most Wanted decided to drop the reveal about the brother’s death in Dylan McDermott's very first episode:

FBI: Most Wanted delves into dark secrets on a weekly basis when it comes to the cases, so it truly could be fresh to have an open book in Remy. Plenty of people wouldn’t have wanted to tell such a deeply personal story to a group of nearly strangers in the middle of a fun night out, so I think the agents have every reason to be confident about him as their new leader. 

Plus, the show won’t waste any time in digging deeper into his family history, as Dylan McDermott also revealed that he recently filmed a scene with Remy’s mother that demonstrated some depth to his character while remaining an open book: 

Despite the big reveal about Remy and his brother's death, there are still more questions than answers about the character after his first episode. Fans will have to keep tuning in to see exactly what FBI: Most Wanted has in store for the newcomer and how he fits into the team, but David Hudgins previewed what’s ahead. The showrunner shared:

At the time of writing, FBI: Most Wanted has not yet been renewed for Season 4, but it sounds like the show is setting the stage for a storyline for Remy that could span well beyond the Season 3 finale. There’s also no reason to worry that Most Wanted – or any of the FBI shows, all of which are available streaming with a Paramount+ subscription – won’t be renewed for the 2022-2023 TV season. FBI: Most Wanted as well as FBI and FBI: International are all going strong as the CBS leg of the nine-show Dick Wolf TV universe.

Dylan McDermott’s long-awaited debut as the new team leader on FBI: Most Wanted is coming with what is sure to be a complicated case involving a series of homicides. As Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott, McDermott comes on board the hit show to replace Julian McMahon’s Jess LaCroix, after the character was tragically killed earlier in the season. Although fans will have to wait until the Law & Order: Organized Crime veteran’s first episode on April 12 to fully see him in action, McDermott shared what happened in his first day that “worked out beautifully.”

The FBI: Most Wanted team will presumably already be short one of its regular members, thanks to Barnes taking maternity leave (with actress Roxy Sternberg pregnant in real life). Dylan McDermott spoke with press at a Q&A ahead of his debut as Remy Scott about meeting the rest of the team:

As it turns out, the same episode that introduces Remy Scott to the rest of the team (likely Hana Gibson, Ivan Ortiz, and Kristin Gaines with Barnes out) mirrors Dylan McDermott's first day with the rest of the actors with whom he'll be working as the newest series regular of FBI: Most Wanted, as they all checked each other out. TV shows regularly film episode scenes out of order, so McDermott's first scene may not be Remy's first with the team, but they still pulled off the "new guy stuff."

Not a whole lot was revealed about Remy Scott in the days and weeks leading up to his introduction, even though Dylan McDermott’s casting was announced back in January, shortly after Julian McMahon announced his departure from Most Wanted and before Law & Order: Organized Crime had wrapped up the Richard Wheatley arc that had kept McDermott busy over on NBC. 

Showrunner David Hudgins did promise that Remy Scott would “reinvigorate” the task force after the terrible loss that happened with Jess’ death, which ended an era of the show. The episode that introduces the new character is called “Covenant,” and will see Remy take charge as the team investigates a series of homicides that trace back to forbidden love.

FBI: Most Wanted delivered a massive twist in Season 3 when Jess LaCroix was killed off to accommodate actor Julian McMahon’s desire to move on, and the CBS show is bringing in Law & Order: Organized Crime’s Dylan McDermott to fill the void. Although the FBIs and Law & Order series technically share the same TV universe with all the other Dick Wolf TV shows, McDermott’s new Most Wanted character definitely isn’t the villainous Richard Wheatley from Organized Crime, and the first look photos and footage make that quite clear.

Dylan McDermott was announced as Julian McMahon’s replacement shortly after news broke about Jess’ upcoming departure, even before Richard Wheatley’s time on Organized Crime had ended. Few details were available about the FBI agent he’d play on FBI: Most Wanted, but the first looks at him on the show included some information on the character as well. The actor will play Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott! Check out the first batch of official photos:

The first photo seems like a pretty standard stoic shot of a TV FBI agent on the job, while the second appears to be a behind-the-scenes pic of Dylan McDermott with other members of the cast playing the Task Force agents (although with Roxy Sternberg missing as Barnes). Remy Scott is clearly on a case in the next picture, with what looks like a bloody door and some kind of evidence bagged up. He’s cracking a smile in the last photo on the bottom right, so at least fans can say that he’s not going to be brooding for his first full episode on April 12!

Dylan McDermott posted a photo of his own on Twitter, and it could suggest a darker side to Remy’s story if fans are meant to read anything into the gun on the table. Take a look at what the actor shared:

The photos are enough to prove that Agent Remy Scott will be a very different character from Richard Wheatley despite Dylan McDermott playing both. The FBIs and L&O shows are connected thanks to a crossover between Chicago P.D. and FBI back in 2020, although McDermott won’t be the first or only star to play multiple characters in the franchise. He won’t even be the only series regular, as FBI’s Jeremy Sisto appeared on Law & Order back in its original run! 

Still, photos can only show so much, so it’s lucky that a promo has already released to preview what’s on the way in Dylan McDermott’s debut episode as Remy Scott:

It’s not quite clear what the case will be that brings Remy and the team onto the scene in this episode, as dead bodies and violent crimes aren’t exactly new to FBI: Most Wanted. Still, it looks like the show isn’t turning Remy Scott into Jess LaCroix 2.0, for better or worse. Characters like Jen Landon’s Sarah and Terry O’Quinn’s Byron won’t be gone right away, and fans will presumably see the rest of the team finding ways to move forward in their jobs. 

They proved earlier in the season that they have leadership qualities of their own, but never had to test their mettle in that way when Jess was definitely not coming back. Dylan McDermott’s character will evidently be vetted as the “right person,” but how will the other characters receive this newcomer in their midst? 

Fans will have to wait until April to find out for sure, but Dylan McDermott is already hyping his switch from Law & Order: Organized Crime to FBI: Most Wanted. Richard Wheatley over on NBC’s OC was a murderer and criminal, and presumed dead after the end of the latest full arc. In contrast, the Most Wanted character will be an agent introduced into an elite FBI squad. David Hudgins weighed in on the process of casting McDermott: 

Even though Richard Wheatley was about as far from a character worthy of joining a Fugitive Task Force for the FBI as could be, Dylan McDermott has plenty of experience playing a variety of roles. Fans won’t get to see him in action as part of the FBI corner of the nine-show Dick Wolf TV universe until April 12, but it’s clear that there’s a lot to look forward to despite the tragedy of Jess’ death. 

New episodes of FBI: Most Wanted air on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS, to close out the night of FBI action following FBI: International at 9 p.m. ET. Law & Order: Organized Crime is going to look a little different now that the show has seemingly wrapped up the Richard Wheatley arc. This is due to the departure of Dylan McDermott, the actor behind the villain. Recently, ahead of his new gig at CBS, he had a sweet interaction with Mariska Hargitay regarding their mutual co-star Christopher Meloni, and it really has me missing this L&O camaraderie already.

Dylan McDermott's dangerous Richard Wheatley had been pursued by Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler since Law & Order: Organized Crime began last year.  McDermott is nothing like his character, though, which he proved by showing off his humor on Twitter recently. The actor tweeted a gif of Stabler giving Richard a look and suggested that the detective is obsessed with him. And right on cue, SVU's Mariska Hargitay stepped in to playfully throw a different assumption McDermott's way:

This interaction is definitely hilarious, and one of the reasons I'll miss Dylan McDermott on the Law & Order shows. While Richard Wheatley created some massive problems for Elliot, and maybe even Olivia with her car crash, it’s clear that McDermott and his colleagues got pretty close in real life. This notion was also made clear through Christopher Meloni's recent comments on McDermott's departure. On a side note, It’s also good to know that Hargitay is keeping the hope alive for all the Bensler shippers, especially since we’re starting to see some of those feelings rise up again.

The social media interaction is somewhat of an extension of the fun the cast and crew have working on the Law & Order shows. Wesam Keesh, who plays hacker Malachi on Organized Crime, recently spoke to CinemaBlend about being on the show and working with Christopher Meloni and the rest of the cast. He mentioned that it’s been “super fun” filming, and one would think that the Wheatley actor was a major part of creating that atmosphere.

On Dylan McDermott's next job, he'll be the new lead of CBS’ FBI: Most Wanted, replacing Julian McMahon, who decided to leave the series. His character isn’t expected to debut until April, so fans will have to wait a bit to see him. It'll be nice to see McDermott playing for the good guys this time around. And with the FBI and Law & Order franchises existing in the same universe, one has to wonder if the actor could cross paths with his old co-stars again but in his new role.

I, for one, will continue to appreciate the work the star did during his time on Organized Crime. And like so many, I'll reflect fondly on his back-and-forths with Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni. It's hard to get past the hilarious sight of Dylan McDermott and Hargitay vying for Meloni's attention (or both simply making Meloni jealous for fun). Here's hoping we still get the occasional viral reunion down the road.

The characters of Law & Order: Organized Crime rarely manage to have too much fun for very long when it comes to the cases they investigate, but actor Wesam Keesh has explained that stars Christopher Meloni and Dylan McDermott have ways to make it “super fun” to work on the show. Keesh, who plays hacker extraordinaire Malachi in Season 2, spoke with CinemaBlend about all things Organized Crime, ranging from the upcoming episodes to what it’s like to work with the two veteran TV actors. 

Chris Meloni and Dylan McDermott’s characters are about as far on opposite ends of the spectrum as possible on Law & Order: Organized Crime, but according to Wesam Keesh, both of their acting choices have been great to experience. After praising the “super talented” Ainsley Seiger, with whom he has shared many scenes as the Malachi to her Jet, Keesh shared:

It’s no surprise that Chris Meloni and Dylan McDermott have acting processes worth studying, considering how much TV experience they have between them. Meloni was of course a Law & Order franchise icon even before launching Organized Crime thanks to twelve seasons of SVU, and before that held a key role on HBO’s Oz. For his part, McDermott starred in nearly 150 episodes of The Practice, and recurred on many shows between the end of his time on that show and joining Organized Crime in 2021, including becoming a familiar face in the American Horror Story franchise. 

So, the Organized Crime cast was already pretty stacked before Wesam Keesh joined in Season 2, with a pretty tight ensemble of characters who banded together even more during the KO arc. Wesam Keesh shared what it was like to join the ensemble in the sprawling Dick Wolf universe (which currently spans nine shows across two networks) with Chris Meloni as the lead, saying:

As a franchise fan favorite already, Chris Meloni was the ideal star to return via SVU and then star in his own spinoff, which has established its own serialized style and set of characters to set it apart from the other Law & Order shows. In fact, Stabler’s dynamic with Malachi has been one of the sources of levity in a not-so-light storyline, complete with Malachi going off-script and calling Stabler “Baldy!” over the phone. Interactions between Malachi and Richard Wheatley have been fewer and farther between so far, but Keesh only had praise for Dylan McDermott as well:

All things considered, the Law & Order: Organized Crime set sounds like a lot more fun than it would be to actually be part of an Organized Crime story! Chris Meloni obviously isn’t going anywhere, but Richard Wheatley’s time as the front-and-center nemesis is coming to an end, as Dylan McDermott is moving over to CBS as the new leading man of FBI: Most Wanted, stepping in for the departing Julian McMahon. 

As for whether or not Wesam Keesh has a future on the show after the end of the Wheatley arc, be sure to tune in to the next episode on Thursday, March 3 at 10 p.m. ET to find out. Law & Order: Organized Crime closes out a night of L&O action on NBC, starting with the Law & Order Season 21 revival at 8 p.m. and continuing with Law & Order: SVU Season 23 at 9 p.m. in the 2022 TV schedule. The three-hour block was a ratings hit in its first week, and it’s likely that NBC will continue doing well with the three shows grouped together. 

The Law & Order universe has officially grown even more in 2022 thanks to the revival premiere of the original series, and SVU and Organized Crime are going strong. That said, OC is on the verge of another change due to the looming departure of Dylan McDermott as the villainous Richard Wheatley, who has been Stabler’s nemesis since the spinoff’s debut in 2021. McDermott is departing OC to head over to CBS as the new star of FBI: Most Wanted, and Chris Meloni has weighed in on McDermott’s upcoming exit. 

Chris Meloni, who of course plays Elliot Stabler in the Law & Order universe, has worked opposite Dylan McDermott while trying to take down Wheatley from the beginning of OC. Although McDermott was mostly absent from the first arc of Season 2, his presence still loomed large, and even cast a shadow over SVU with his trial (and possibly Benson’s car crash). Meloni spoke with ET about McDermott switching from NBC to CBS for Most Wanted, saying:

Even though Stabler undoubtedly won’t miss Wheatley no matter how OC writes off the character, Chris Meloni didn’t hold back in sharing how much he’ll miss Dylan McDermott. It is fun to know from Chris Meloni’s comments that, as much as Wheatley was a truly dastardly bad guy on the show, McDermott has a good sense of humor! Interestingly, McDermott isn’t actually leaving the Dick Wolf TV universe that includes Organized Crime, but he’ll step away from playing bad guy Richard Wheatley to playing an agent over on FBI: Most Wanted.

FBI: Most Wanted needed a new leading man after Julian McMahon decided to depart part of the way through the current third season. McMahon still has one episode to go before saying goodbye as Jess LaCroix – hopefully without being killed off – and there are no details available just yet about McDermott’s character other than that he definitely isn’t reprising his role as Richard Wheatley for it. 

His new character is expected to debut in April, meaning episodes of Most Wanted between McMahon’s OC departure and McDermott’s arrival. That also means weeks of TV without McDermott, with the Wheatley arc of Organized Crime wrapping (with some intensity, according to one star) on March 3. The next arc of OC will shift focus to Mykelti Williamson, which could mean a goodbye to Tamara Taylor’s Angela Wheatley as well, but we can only speculate on that front. 

Fans can probably be confident that OC will have a doozy of an episode to close the story of the show’s first and arguably worst bad guy when it comes to the amount of havoc wreaked, including by bringing in Robin Lord Taylor’s Sebastian McClane, who has just wanted to survive him. Dylan McDermott returned to television back in 2021 to play Elliot Stabler’s nemesis on the highly-anticipated Law & Order: Organized Crime, and he proved that he can be very good at playing bad as Richard Wheatley. In a twist, however, McDermott will step away from being bad on NBC to join the good guys over on CBS as the new leading man of FBI: Most Wanted following the departure of Julian McMahon. The actor celebrated his new gig on the FBI spinoff with a message that he kept short, sweet, and to the point. 

In a photo and message on Instagram, Dylan McDermott made it pretty clear that he’s excited to be joining FBI: Most Wanted, even if the photo he chose isn’t exactly looking gleeful. Take a look:

There will indeed be a new sheriff in town on FBI: Most Wanted, after Julian McMahon decided to leave the hit series. Agent Jess LaCroix will no longer be around to lead the Fugitive Task Force, and that’ll be where Dylan McDermott comes in. There are few details available about who he’ll play or how he debuts, but McDermott’s new character will be an original rather than a reprisal of Richard Wheatley, even though FBI: Most Wanted takes place in the same TV universe as Law & Order: Organized Crime. 

Of course, McDermott won’t be the only actor in the Wolf Entertainment TV universe – comprised of Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Organized Crime, Law & Order (after the revival premieres in February), Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, and FBI: International – to play one character on one of the shows and then a different character on another of the shows. 

In fact, FBI’s Jeremy Sisto spent years on Law & Order, and has even spoken about the connection between the two shows. S. Epatha Merkerson of Chicago Med is another Law & Order alum to play two different major characters. If they could do it, surely there will be no problem with McDermott doing it! It will be fun to see if anybody actually mentions that the new FBI agent looks an awful lot like a villain who menaced New York over on NBC. 

There are more questions than answers at this point about how FBI: Most Wanted says goodbye to Julian McMahon and welcomes Dylan McDermott, and Richard Wheatley is still causing all kinds of problems for Stabler and the rest of the Task Force on Organized Crime. In fact, he has escalated so much that even those who he works with may need to band together to survive him, as one OC star explained to CinemaBlend. 

All things considered, Dylan McDermott has a lot to celebrate, as he’ll move from one of the biggest hits on NBC to star in a major hit on CBS, based on the ratings averages from the end of 2021. The odds of him appearing on the other two FBI shows are also better than ever, as crossovers to CBS weren't too likely back when he was just playing a criminal. 

Fans will reportedly have to wait until April to see McDermott debut his new character on FBI: Most Wanted, but Julian McMahon’s final episode as Jess LaCroix isn’t too far off from its March 8 premiere. FBI: Most Wanted made big news during a break between episodes with the reveal that leading man Julian McMahon will depart as Jess LaCroix before the end of the current third season on CBS. Fortunately for fans wondering how Most Wanted will continue after losing the star, the show has wasted no time in finding a replacement. In fact, the show didn’t even have to go far: a star from the Law & Order side of the Wolf Entertainment franchise is on board! FBI: Most Wanted fans, prepare to say hello to Organized Crime’s Dylan McDermott, whose future on the NBC show is now in question. 

Dylan McDermott has been cast to fill the leading man void that will be left by Julian McMahon on FBI: Most Wanted, according to Deadline. Although the FBI and Law & Order corners of the Wolf universe are connected thanks to a crossover back in 2020, this won’t be a case of his Organized Crime character making the jump to CBS for Most Wanted. McDermott will play a new character for Most Wanted, although no details are available just yet about who he will be. His character and Jess LaCroix won’t cross paths; McMahon’s final episode will air on March 8, while McDermott’s debut will be Episode 17, reportedly scheduled to air in April. 

So, what does this FBI: Most Wanted casting and April debut mean for Dylan McDermott on Organized Crime? Well, since he’s obviously not going to be playing criminal mastermind Richard Wheatley to lead an FBI unit, something is going to have to happen to take Wheatley out of the game so that McDermott can be a series regular on Most Wanted in his new role. For Elliot Stabler’s sake on OC, we can only hope that Wheatley will be gone because he has been locked up for life (or more permanently taken care of) rather than out and about off screen. It does seem safe to say that Wheatley’s days as the #1 big bad on Organized Crime are numbered, however. 

And that might not actually have to change much about the plans for Law & Order: OC Season 2. Co-creator and TV super-producer Dick Wolf already established that the second season would be broken up into three parts, with the first similar to The Godfather, the second similar to American Gangster, and the third similar to Scarface. If the KO arc that started Season 2 was OC’s version of The Godfather, then the current Wheatley arc is American Gangster, and therefore always intended to end in time for the Scarface third to begin. So, the new leading man on FBI: Most Wanted will be a very familiar face for fans of the Law & Order shows over on NBC, but not a familiar character.

And Dylan McDermott playing two different characters within the same TV universe (comprised of FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: OC, and soon a Law & Order revival) doesn’t even complicate things, as other stars have already set the precedent. Jeremy Sisto is a star on FBI after spending years as somebody else on the original Law & Order, and Chicago Med’s S. Epatha Merkerson was once a Law & Order regular as well. Even Demore Barnes played double duty within the Wolf Entertainment TV universe as different characters before he was written out of SVU.

For now, you can look forward to seeing how Law & Order: Organized Crime wraps Richard Wheatley’s arc to free up Dylan McDermott with new episodes on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET when the show returns to NBC after the Olympics in February. As for FBI: Most Wanted, Julian McMahon’s final episodes as Jess LaCroix will air on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS starting on February 1. By now, you’ve surely heard all about King Richard, the new biopic starring Will Smith as Richard Williams, the father of tennis phenoms Venus and Serena Williams (played here by Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton), and its inspirational story about a man unwilling to give up on his daughters. 

Outside of the film’s central characters, the King Richard cast boasts an impressive group of supporting actors, each bringing their heart, soul, and years of experience to the biographical sports drama. And while some of these faces are familiar, others may leave you wondering where you’ve seen them before. Whatever the case may be, we’ve got you covered with this quick yet comprehensive rundown.

Will Smith (Richard Williams)

Leading the King Richard cast is Will Smith, who takes on the role of Richard Williams, the loving, devoted, and determined father who trains his daughters to be, arguably, two of the greatest tennis stars in the history of the sport. 

The “Fresh Prince” is no stranger to the world of biographical dramas, as he has previously led Ali, The Pursuit of Happyness, and Concussion in addition to dozens upon dozens of iconic roles in various other genres throughout his career. A list of Smith’s best performances could also be repurposed as the most successful movies of the past quarter-century, including Independence Day, the Men in Black franchise, the Bad Boys series, and oh so much more.

Saniyya Sidney (Venus Williams)

Taking on the role of Venus Williams in King Richard is Saniyya Sidney, a young and talented actress who has built up quite a resumé for herself since making her feature-length acting debut in the Academy Award-winning drama Fences in 2016. 

Since then, Sidney has made appearances in movies like Hidden Figures, Fast Color, and Kevin Hart’s Guide to Black History. Sidney has also popped up in a number of TV projects during that same stretch of time, including a guest role on the 2016 remake of Roots, which she followed up with roles on American Horror Story: Roanoke, and The Passage. She is also set to play former First Daughter Sasha Obama in the 2022 Showtime anthology series, First Lady.

Demi Singleton (Serena Williams)

Portraying Serena Williams is relative newcomer Demi Singleton, who, despite only having a few film and TV appearances to her name, brings a level of intensity to the screen that is up there with anyone else in the King Richard cast. Prior to landing one of the lead roles in the new sports biopic, Singleton made her acting debut in the 2019 drama Goldie, which she followed up with a recurring role on the Epix series Godfather of Harlem.

Aunjanue Ellis (Oracene “Brandi” Williams)

Taking on the role of Oracene “Brandi” Williams, the mother of Venus and Serena and former wife of Richard, in King Richard is Aunjanue Ellis. Throughout her career, which goes back to the 1990s, Ellis has appeared in movies like Ray, The Help, If Beale Street Could Talk, and a couple of dozen others, ranging from dramas to comedies and everything in between. 

Ellis has also had a prominent TV career, one that has seen her appear on True Blood, NCIS: Los Angeles, When They See Us, and most recently Lovecraft Country, portraying Hippolyta Freeman throughout the HBO horror series first, and most likely, final season.

Tony Goldwyn (Paul Cohen)

Portraying legendary tennis coach Paul Cohen in King Richard is Tony Goldwyn, who stepped in to replace Liev Schreiber after the actor dropped out prior to the start of production, per Deadline. 

To some, Goldwyn is best remembered as Carl Bruner, the backstabbing businessman who led to Sam Wheat’s (Patrick Swayze) death in the supernatural drama Ghost. Over the years, Goldwyn has provided the voice of the titular hero in Disney’s Tarzan, appeared in the Divergent franchise, and multiple other notable movies. Over on the TV side of his career, Goldwyn has had major roles on Scandal, Chambers, and most recently, Lovecraft Country. 

Jon Bernthal (Rick Macci)

Jon Bernthal appears in the King Richard cast as Rick Macci, one of the tennis coaches that worked with Venus and Serena Williams early in their career. One of the most recognizable faces in the biographical sports drama, Bernthal became a major force in Hollywood following his portrayal of Shane Walsh in the first two seasons of The Walking Dead, starting with the popular AMC horror series' 2010 debut, and he hasn't slowed down since. 

Over the course of the past decade, Bernthal has portrayed Frank Castle on Daredevil and The Punisher, and has given outstanding performances in films like Wind River, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, and Baby Driver. More recently, he has had prominent roles in Those Who Wish Me Dead, The Many Saints of Newark, and Small Engine Repair.

Andy Bean (Laird Stabler)

Taking on the role of Laird Stabler, one of tennis pros working with the Williams sisters, is Andy Bean. Prior to joining the King Richard cast, Bean made a name for himself on the Starz drama series Power, portraying Greg Knox. Following the success of the series, Bean would go on to appear in The Divergent Series: Allegiant, Transformers: The Last Knight, and It Chapter Two, in which he played the adult version of Stanley Uris. In 2019, Bean landed the role of Alec Holland in The CW’s short-lived  Swamp Thing revival series.

Kevin Dunn (Vic Braden)

Kevin Dunn appears in King Richard as Vic Braden, an influential tennis instructor who was one of the first to witness the greatness of Venus and Serena Williams. Throughout his career, Dunn has been one of those actors who can jump from farces like the 1993 political comedy Dave, to more dramatic thrillers like Nixon, while still giving memorable performances in massive franchises like Transformers without him ever seeming at all out of place. 

Dunn’s TV work is even more impressive with major roles on Veep, True Detective Season 1, The Night Of, and countless other smaller recurring and guest-starring roles on series like 21 Jump Street, Roseanne, Seinfeld, and Lost, with appearances going all the way back to the ABC dramedy,  Jack and Mike, in 1986.

Craig Tate (Bells)

Taking on the role of Bells in King Richard is Craig Tate. Since making his professional acting debut on the HBO drama series Treme in 2012, Tate has gone on to appear on shows like Ravenswood, Shameless, Snowfall, and Reprisal, the latter two being prominent recurring roles. Tate’s film work includes Lee Daniels’ The Butler, 12 Years a Slave, and the Tom Hanks-led World War II military epic drama, Greyhound.

Dylan McDermott (George Macarthur)

Dylan McDermott shows up in King Richard as the fictional sports agent George Macarthur. Prior to landing the role in the highly anticipated biographical sports drama, McDermott became one of the biggest names in TV in the late 1990s with his award-winning performance as Bobby Donnell on the ABC legal drama, The Practice. 

Over the years, McDermott has remained busy with a number of other projects on the small screen, including various installments of the American Horror Story franchise, and is currently one of the leads on Law and Order: Organized Crime. McDermott’s film work includes Olympus Has Fallen, Miracle on 34th Street, and Steel Magnolias.

Layla Crawford (Lyndrea Price)

Layla Crawford is a member of the King Richard cast and takes on the role of Lyndrea Price, one of Venus and Serena Williams’ half-sisters from their mother’s previous marriage. Throughout her career, Crawford has made brief appearances on Two and Half Men, True Blood, The Mindy Project, and Fresh Off the Boat, to name only a few. During that same stretch of time, Crawford has had larger roles on The First Family, Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, and NCIS: Los Angeles.

Daniele Lawson (Isha Price)

Daniele Lawson also makes an appearance in King Richard as Isha Price, one of Venus and Serena Williams’ half-sisters from their mother’s previous marriage. Shortly after making her debut in the 2014 short film, Long Time Gone, Lawson landed roles on shows like CSI: Cyber, Ben and Kate, and Scandal. More recently, Lawson has appeared on Young Sheldon, Mixed-ish, Good Trouble, Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!, and 9-1-1.

Mikayla LaShae Bartholomew (Tunde Price)

Mikayla LaShae Bartholomew joins the King Richard cast as Tunde Price, Venus and Serena Williams’ third half-sister from their mother’s previous marriage. Price made her feature film debut with her performance in King Richard, which is one of a handful of appearances she has made since her career got underway in 2019. The newcomer previously showed up on the TV series The Code and Red Riding Hoods, and in the 2021 short film, Pure.

Law & Order: Organized Crime debuted in the 2020-2021 TV season as the long-awaited SVU spinoff that finally brought Christopher Meloni back as Detective Elliot Stabler, but it also delivered a serialized story, some sky-high stakes, and a major threat in the form of Dylan McDermott's Richard Wheatley. Stabler's dogged pursuit of Wheatley over the course of Organized Crime's first season ended with Wheatley behind bars, but McDermott is coming back for Season 2. The actor recently shared why he thinks fans responded so strongly to his character now that Season 2 is approaching.

Richard Wheatley was obviously the big bad of Season 1, even if it was Tamara Taylor's Angela Wheatley who technically ordered the hit on Kathy Stabler, so why did he provoke such a strong and not entirely negative response from fans? Was it because Organized Crime needed an imposing villain played by an actor who could go head-to-head with Christopher Meloni? Was it because Wheatley was the first really serialized villain in the Law & Order franchise in recent memory? Or did fans just love Wheatley for his sneaky speech about the true love of Stabler's life? According to Dylan McDermott in a chat with ET, there's another reason entirely:

Dylan McDermott believes that his investment in playing Richard Wheatley comes across in the performance and draws the strong response from viewers, and it's hard to argue with that! Plus, McDermott enjoying playing Wheatley so much evidently means that he was of course willing to reprise the role for Season 2, even though Wheatley was arrested and the actor is on board in a recurring capacity rather than a series regular.

There were still some big questions left unanswered regarding Wheatley and his family by the end of Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 1, so it would have been a shame if Dylan McDermott wasn't going to return at all. The promise of recurring appearances could mean that Wheatley becomes something of a nemesis for Stabler even behind bars, but only time will tell. McDermott did go on to indicate that Wheatley might not exactly be content to stay behind those bars any longer than necessary:

Richard Wheatley managed to order a hit on his ex-wife using a cell phone to pull strings via a member of the Organized Crime task force within hours of his arrest, so just imagine what he could do after he has more time to think and plan. Revenge seems like it could be on his mind, which wouldn't bode well for the Stabler family and possibly even Law & Order: SVU's Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay. Then again, for Wheatley's many moral failings, he wasn't unintelligent, so perhaps revenge would be too trite of an endgame goal for him.

Only time and Season 2 will tell, but the good news is that the beginning of Season 2 isn't too far off. Law & Order: Organized Crime returns to NBC for its second season on Thursday, September 23 at 10 p.m. ET, immediately following the Season 23 premiere of Law & Order: SVU. Previously, another Law & Order spinoff was planning to premiere and give NBC a full Law & Order Thursday, but plans changed back in July. Law & Order: Organized Crime spent the first season on a very personal tragedy for Christopher Meloni's Elliot Stabler, freshly returned to New York from working as the NYPD's man in Rome only for his wife to be murdered in an explosion. The good news for Stabler is that he solved the case and caught the culprits before the end of the season (although not without some emotional collateral damage along the way), but the bad news for Stabler is that the latest casting information about Season 2 confirms that he's not done with Dylan McDermott's Richard Wheatley.

Even though Angela Wheatley was technically the one who ordered the hit on Kathy Stabler, Richard was undeniably the big bad of the season, and the season ended with him behind bars, with his efforts to kill Angela and stop her from testifying seemingly (although not definitively) thwarted. Now, however, Deadline reports that Dylan McDermott will be back as Richard Wheatley in Season 2, and that news is enough to start the speculation about what it probably means for when Organized Crime returns.

Richard Wheatley Is Not The Big Bad

Dylan McDermott was a series regular during the first season of Law & Order: Organized Crime, but has been bumped down to recurring status for Season 2. That doesn't mean he'll no longer be a dangerous man, but the Season 1 finale guaranteed that he won't have the same criminal means as he did before he was arrested and not handed over to the feds on all counts. Plus, executive producer Dick Wolf shared his vision for a 24-episode Season 2, with the first third being like The Godfather, the second third like American Gangster, and the third like Scarface.

Dylan McDermott is reportedly on board Season 2 for just eight episodes, which indicates that either he'll only be a main player in one of the thirds or that he'll appear sparingly throughout the season. Either way, Richard Wheatley almost certainly won't cast as long of a shadow in Season 2 as he did in Season 1, even if he still has enough means at his disposal to be a dangerous man behind bars. Organized Crime will seemingly move on to other big cases, with Wheatley still in the mix somehow.

The Case Might Not Be Fully Closed

Stabler, Bell and Co. caught Richard Wheatley and guaranteed that he wouldn't receive a sweet deal from the feds that got him fully out of serving time, but that doesn't mean the case is fully closed. Richie put out a hit on his dad after finding out that Richard killed his own father, and Richard didn't exactly hold his tongue once he was in custody. The case was bigger than Kathy Stabler, and the fact that Richard Wheatley was able to orchestrate SVU's Benson arriving on the scene at the end of the finale proves that he's not done with his dirty deeds just because he's in the clink.

Stabler Might Need His Help

As distasteful as Stabler would undoubtedly find it, it's possible that he'll actually need Richard Wheatley's help in Season 2. Wheatley surely didn't burn all of his criminal bridges after he was arrested and could have valuable intel for Stabler about organized crime in New York City. That's not to say that Wheatley would be highly motivated to lend a hand unless doing so could reduce his time in jail, but Wheatley did seem to enjoy toying with Stabler in Season 1. He could do so again if and when Stabler needs his help in Season 2. Stabler needing help could result in visits to wherever Wheatley is being held, allowing Dylan McDermott to recur.

The Stablers Aren't Safe

The Stablers might be somewhat safer in Season 2 by virtue of Richard Wheatley not having all of his former criminal means at his disposal while behind bars, but Wheatley has more reason than ever to have a bone to pick with Elliot, and the Season 1 finale proved that if Wheatley wants to get a message to the outside, he can do it. Hopefully Eli continues living with one of his sisters so that Elliot can at least lessen the odds of any of them getting hurt during an attempt on his life. As long as Wheatley is alive and in the mix, the Stablers won't be entirely safe.

Benson Is In Danger

If the Stablers aren't safe, then Olivia Benson certainly isn't safe either, although Mariska Hargitay's status as star of Law & Order: SVU at least means that fans won't have to worry about Organized Crime killing her off. In the Season 1 finale, Wheatley managed to lure Benson to the hospital where his mole would try to kill Angela (again), and even though it's not 100% clear why, I can only imagine that he didn't exactly have her best interests at heart.

I think it's safe to say that Benson is who Wheatley was referring to about the "love of [Stabler's] life," and he actually met Benson in the Season 1 finale. Benson may have some danger to deal with from Organized Crime as well as SVU in the 2021-2022 TV season. Now, if only that danger could result in Benson and Stabler having an on-screen conversation about that mysterious letter!

Angela Could Be Out Of Commission

Angela Wheatley was in the midst of a health crisis at the end of Season 1, and although Stabler, Benson, and Bell arrived on the scene before she could die, there's no guarantee that she actually survived long enough to testify against her ex. And if she's not around to cooperate with the task force, will the case against Wheatley be so weak that Stabler needs to keep digging into him, and that's what keeps Dylan McDermott around on a recurring basis? And Angela wouldn't necessarily need to be dead for this to be the case – this is TV, after all. She could be in a coma!

Tamara Taylor hasn't been confirmed one way or the other about returning as Angela for Season 2, so a lot could depend on whether or not Angela is able to recover from her ordeal in the finale. The one thing that fans can count on with certainty at this point is that Dylan McDermott will be back on a recurring basis as Richard Wheatley. It's been no secret for the past decade that Law & Order: SVU fans wanted to see Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson reunite on screen with Christopher Meloni's Elliot Stabler, and when it actually happened earlier this year, viewers went wild. We've seen that the connection the two actors share isn't just one fostered by their characters, but that they're also friends off-screen. Now, though, after Law & Order: Organized Crime star Dylan McDermott shared a photo of himself and Hargitay, Meloni isn't having it at all.

Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni frequently drove fans nutty during their decade apart on-camera, as they would often hang out in real life and post about it on social media for all to see. Once word came down that they would, in fact, be back together as Benson and Stabler on SVU, and on Meloni's new spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime, it made all of the Bensler stans very happy. The duo has spent much time over the past several months talking about just how "inextricably linked" they (and their characters) are, and now we seem to be getting a hint of jealousy from Meloni after his Organized Crime co-star, Dylan McDermott, shared a pic of himself and Hargitay on Twitter. Take a look!

Uhhhhh...OK, exactly what is even going on here? While this is probably a thought that we're all thinking, it seems clear that something similar was likely going through the mind of Christopher Meloni when he spied this photo of Dylan McDermott and Mariska Hargitay online, as well. Honestly, I can't tell if it would be more or less suggestive without the lower half of the photo. I thought McDermott was, somehow, wearing a kilt at first, and we all know what goes on under those. (Nothing...and everything all at once.) Hargitay sure does know how to make ripped pants, which still show nothing naughty, look, well, disproportionately naughty.

As their on screen reunion as Benson and Stabler quickly led to longing looks, and some very intimate conversations (even a declaration of love), audiences have yet to see anything truly hot-n-heavy go down between Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay's characters, which might be what makes this shot stand out even more. If I recall correctly (Which I may not. It's been a long year, y'all...), McDermott's Richard Wheatley only ever spent somewhat significant time on the show with Benson during the Organized Crime finale, where it appears that this photo was taken, so how'd they get so close?

Of course, his "WTF?!" response is likely playful more than any real hint of a disturbance in the Christopher Meloni / Mariska Hargitay (Melonitay? Hargimelon?) force. And, that's good to hear, especially for Hargitay's real life husband, Younger star Peter Hermann. The man seems cool sharing her with Meloni, but do we think it would still be smooth sailing if she added Dylan McMermott to that equation? Let's hope we all never have to find out!

At long last, Law and Order Organized Crime is here and Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler is finally back on our television screens. But while we know a great deal about the former Law and Order: SVU actor as well as his co-star, American Horror Story star Dylan McDermott, other members of the Law and Order Organized Crime cast aren’t as well known as the spinoff’s major players. Don’t worry, though, as we have put together a nifty guide so you won’t be asking “Hey, who’s that?” longer than you should.

The truth is, the Law and Order Organized Crime cast is a nice mix of established stars, up-and-comers, and even a few newcomers who will surely make their mark on the seventh spinoff in Dick Wolf’s long-running crime drama. Oh, and there are also the stars crossing over from Christopher Meloni’s old stomping grounds who will be popping up as well…

Christopher Meloni (Elliot Stabler)

Chris Meloni, the man who became a household name for his portrayal of detective Elliot Stabler, returns to the New York Police Department, but in a different unit, on Law and Order: Organized Crime. Meloni, who was also a fixture of the Oz cast for much of the HBO prison drama’s six-season run, has played roles on shows like Veep, True Blood, and The Handmaid’s Tale more recently. Known to show up on the film side of things on occasion, Meloni has been spotted in movies like 42, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, and Wet Hot American Summer.

Dylan McDermott (Richard Wheatley)

This might sound crazy, but Law and Order: Organized Crime is the first show in the franchise to feature Dylan McDermott, who has been a fixture on television since first portraying Bobby Donnell on the ABC legal drama The Practice back in 1997. With all of the many actors and actresses who have appeared on Law and Order over the years, it seems like it would be a given for the American Horror Story star to appear at one point or another. Instead, McDermott makes his debut on Organized Crime as detective Richard Wheatley.

Danielle Moné Truitt (Ayanna Bell)

Danielle Moné Truitt, who previously led the BET police drama Rebel in 2017, as well as having a major role on the short-lived Deputy in 2020, is bringing plenty of experience in the genre to the table in Law and Order: Organized Crime with her portrayal of Sergeant Ayanna Bell, a driving force in the titular unit at the center of the series. In addition to her steady roles on those aforementioned shows, Truitt has played smaller characters on shows like Chicago Med, Snowfall, and Mulaney. The talented actress and singer also lent her voice to the cast of Disney’s The Princess and the Frog.

Ainsley Seiger (Jet Sloomaekers)

While there are established stars on Law and Order: Organized Crime, some key members of the cast, like Ainsley Seiger, for instance, aren’t as well known as their on-screen counterparts. With her portrayal of detective Jet Sloomaekers on the latest Law and Order spinoff, Seiger will be making her television debut and only second on-screen role (the first being the 2019 short film American Waste). Expect to see a lot of Seiger as the show goes on, as she will be a series regular, per Deadline.

Tamara Taylor (Angela Wheatley)

Tamara Taylor, who has appeared on everything from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to Altered Carbon, appears on Law and Order: Organized Crime as Angela Wheatley. When not portraying Camille Saroyan on 223 episodes of Bones from 2006 to 2017, or voicing Wonder Woman in various DC Comics animated series and movies, Taylor has shown up on shows like Six Feet Under, Everwood, and even Party of Five, where she played Grace Wilcox for 16 episodes.

Nick Creegan (Richard “Richie” Wheatley Jr.)

Nick Creegan is another name on the Law and Order: Organized Crime cast list that doesn’t immediately jump out at you, but that doesn’t mean the young actor who got his start in 2020 on the OWN original series David Makes Man won’t be a star following his portrayal of Richard “Richie” Wheatley Jr., the son of Dylan McDermott’s detective. Prior to Organized Crime, Creegan appeared in the short film A Balcony in Brooklyn, and will soon appear in crime drama Literature to Larceny.

Michael Rivera (Diego Morales)

Prior to landing the role of detective Diego Morales on Law and Order: Organized Crime, Michael Rivera had already appeared on various shows set in Dick Wolf’s universe, with small roles on Law and Order, Special Victims Unit, and Criminal Intent, in addition to a number of shows not related to the franchise. This includes series like Oz and The Wire, as well as movies like It’s Complicated and The Beaver.

Ibrahim Renno (Izak Bekher)

Ibrahim Renno, who portrays Izak Bekher on Law and Order: Organized Crime, is no stranger when it comes to crime dramas, as he has appeared on everything from The Blacklist to FBI over the years. On top of that, Renno has had smaller roles in the 2017 Hulu original political/spy thriller The Looming Tower as well as several films, including Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Wildcat, and The Rhythm Section. He has also appeared in more than a few short films throughout his career.

Charlotte Sullivan

Charlotte Sullivan appears in a recurring role in the supporting cast of Law and Order: Organized Crime, but to some she will always be Anna Turner from Chicago Fire (everyone is connected to Dick Wolf in one way or another). Over the years, Sullivan has appeared on crime procedurals like Rookie Blue and Murdoch Mysteries, as well as historical dramas like The Kennedys, where she portrayed Marilyn Monroe on the controversial 2011 miniseries. Her most recent appearance came in the 2021 TV movie Two for the Win.

Ben Chase

Ben Chase is another relative newcomer to film and television with his appearance on Law and Order: Organized Crime. Prior to landing a role in the Elliot Stabler-led spinoff series, Chase appeared as a character by the name of Chasé on the series of shorts called Love in NY. Over the years, Chase has taken on smaller, one-off roles on shows like the Amazon original series Transparent, Difficult People, and The Mysteries of Laura. He’s also appeared in a number of film projects like A Shot Through the Wall in 2021 and The Last Thing He Wanted in the previous year.

Jalyin Fletcher

Jaylin Fletcher, who portrays Miles on the exciting television adaptation of Bong Joon-Ho’s Snowpiercer, appears as a recurring character on Law and Order: Organized Crime. Prior to landing a spot one of the biggest shows on television (Snowpiercer) and one of the most anticipated spinoff series in recent memory (Organized Crime), Fletcher appeared on Coop and Cami Ask the World television series in 2018 and, before that, showed up in movies like The Female Brain, Saturday Church, and A Very Merry Toy Store.

The Law And Order: Special Victims Unit Crossover

In addition to the regular cast of Law and Order: Organized Crime, the show will feature key members of the Special Victims Unit cast for a crossover episode. We’ve gone ahead and provided some information for each of those stars for a quick refresher of where they’ve been and where you’ve seen them.

Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson)

A staple of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Mariska Hargitay has appeared in almost every single one of the show’s nearly 500 episodes, going back to its debut in 1999. And, while the Primetime Emmy winner has mainly appeared on the hit series throughout her career, Hargitay has also appeared on shows like ER, Seinfeld, and Can’t Hurry Love. Lately, when not appearing as Benson on other shows like Chicago P.D., Hargitay has made several appearances as herself on everything from Barefoot Contessa to The Jim Gaffigan Show.

Ice-T (Odafin Tutuola)

Ice-T has portrayed Odafin Tutuola on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit since the show’s second season and has been a major player ever since. The rapper-turned-actor, who reached the height of his infamy in 1992 with the Body Count song “Cop Killer,” has gone on to play a police officer or undercover agent on multiple occasions over the years, most notably (well, besides SVU) in the 1991 crime drama New Jack City.

Kelli Giddish (Amanda Rollins)

A series regular since Law and Order: Special Victims Unit Season 13, Kelli Giddish, with her portrayal of Amanda Rollins, has become a fixture on the long-running series. Prior to that, Giddish appeared on two episodes of The Good Wife as well as the soap opera All My Children from 2005 to 2007. Since joining SVU, Giddish has crossed over to Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. on occasion.

Isabel Gillies (Kathy Stabler)

Isabel Gillies’ history with Law and Order: Special Victims Unit goes back to 1999 when she began appearing as Kathy Stabler, Christopher Meloni’s on-screen wife, a role she would play until 2011. That all changed in 2021 when Gilles, and her character, made a shocking return, setting up Organized Crime in the process.

That about wraps things up with the Law and Order: Organized Crime cast, but this doesn’t mean there want be any surprises throughout the show’s debut season, which kicks off at 10 p.m. ET, Thursday, April 1 on NBC. This past weekend, American Horror Story: 1984 finally became streamable on Netflix. The ongoing horror anthology series has gained no shortage of viewers throughout its nearly decade-long run, and this ninth season won over critics and audiences alike with its goofy and lovingly campy nods to nostalgic slasher flicks, mixed with the popular show's signature blend of kooky twists and turns. While the FX series was renewed for a tenth spin (plus three more seasons), fans will still need to wait a little while longer for its unannounced premiere date — notably due to pandemic-related delays.

But if viewers already caught up with the latest season — via Netflix or otherwise — and they want to know what the American Horror Story: 1984 cast has coming up in the near future, we're here to help. This is what the 1984 cast has in store.

Emma Roberts (Brooke Thompson)

As Brooke Thompson, a young woman with an intense interest in serial killers, Emma Roberts played the primary character in the latest season of American Horror Story. A former child star cast in the lead role in Nickelodeon's Unfabulous, the film-TV actress is also known for Nancy Drew, Aquamarine, Wild Child, Hotel For Dogs, It's Kind of a Funny Story, Valentine's Day, Scream 4, Nerve, We're the Millers, The Blackcoat's Daughter, Palo Alto, Lymelife, The Art of Getting By, Blow, Little Italy, and several additional seasons of AHS. Roberts also had the main role in Fox's Scream Queens.

Most recently, Emma Roberts was seen in Netflix's romantic comedy, Holidate. Additionally, she starred in The Hunt earlier this year. Next, the actress will star in the sci-fi rom-com, Robots, and the drama, Now I See You. Also, Roberts inked a deal with Hulu and she's slated to star in an adaptation of Carola Lovering's Tell Me Lies. And she will lend her voice to the upcoming animated movie, Saurus City.

Billie Lourd (Montana Duke)

Playing the part of Montana Duke, a spunky and motivated aerobics enthusiast, Billie Lourd got one of her biggest roles to date in American Horror Story: 1984. The daughter of the late Carrie Fisher, Lourd has been working hard to establish herself as a film and TV actress in the past few years. Her most notable roles to date include Scream Queens, Booksmart, and the new Star Wars trilogy. Additionally, Lourd appears in Cult and Apocalypse in addition to this most recent AHS season. She can also be seen in Billionaire Boys Club and an episode of NBC's Will & Grace.

Next, Billie Lourd is set to appear in the tenth and latest season of American Horror Story. She also welcomed a child into the world in September.

Leslie Grossman (Margaret Booth)

In the role of Margaret Booth, the new owner of Camp Redwood who's secretly responsible for the massacre in 1970, Leslie Grossman plays a convincing character in American Horror Story: 1984. Previously known for The WB sitcom, What I Like About You, Grossman first collaborated with Ryan Murphy with Popular, then appeared in the seventh and eighth seasons of AHS before starring in 1984. She also acted in Murphy productions like Running with Scissors, The New Normal, and Nip/Tuck. Her other notable credits include Can't Hardly Wait, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous, Spring Breakdown, Scandal, Fuller House, Dexter, Grey's Anatomy, and Charmed.

Most recently, Leslie Grossman appeared in Shrill and Love, Victor, both on Hulu. She also guest-starred on ABC's The Goldbergs, and provided a voice role in a recent American Dad episode. Next, she's expected to star in American Horror Story's tenth season.

Cody Fern (Xavier Plympton)

Playing the part of Xavier Plympton, an aerobics instructor-turned-camp counselor, Cody Fern plays one of the main characters in American Horror Story: 1984. In addition to 1984, Fern was also seen in American Horror Story: Apocalypse. He also worked with producer Ryan Murphy when he starred in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story in the role of David Madson. He also starred in the fifth season of Netflix's House of Cards. His other credits include The Tribes of Palos Verdes and The Great Darkened Days. Additionally, in 2017, Fern wrote, directed, and starred in the short film, Pisces.

Next, Cody Fern will star in the upcoming drama series, Eden, for Stan.

Matthew Morrison (Trevor Kirchner)

As Trevor Kirchner, the activities director at Camp Redwood who fancies a fling with Montana, Matthew Morrison has a very prominent and, well, well-endowed character in American Horror Story: 1984. Most notably, Morrison starred in Fox's Glee, which Ryan Murphy also produced. He's also a prominent stage actor, notably for Broadway's Hairspray and his Tony-nominated work in The Light in the Piazza. His film credits include Tulip Fever, The Muppets, I Think I Love My Wife, Dan in Real Life, Music and Lyrics, What to Expect When You're Expecting, and Playing It Cool. Additionally, Morrison appeared in episodes of Grey's Anatomy, The Good Wife, and Sex and the City.

Next, Matthew Morrison will play The Grinch in a television special for Dr. Seuss' The Grinch Musical. Recently, in March, he appeared on the TV special, #KidsTogether: The Nickelodeon Town Hall. Additionally, Morrison starred in 2019's Crazy Alien.

Gus Kenworthy (Chet Clancy)

In the role of Chet Clancy, the resident jock of the group, Gus Kenworthy plays a character who doesn't necessarily make it through the series with his life intact. Outside of acting, Kenworthy became a silver medalist in Men's slopestyle at the 2014 Winter Olympics. He also competes in halfpipe and big air. While 1984 is by far his biggest acting project to date, he also appeared in Sharknado 5: Global Swarming and an episode of New York Is Dead. Kenworthy's other television appearances include episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars, The Real O'Neals, and The Challenge: Champs vs. Pros.

Most recently, Gus Kenworthy appeared in a recent episode of Will & Grace. He also played the role he was born to play, Gus Kenworthy, in the sports comedy, Olympic Dreams, which premiered throughout the film festival circuit in 2019 before its digital release earlier this year.

John Carroll Lynch (Benjamin Richter/Mr. Jingles)

In the role of Benjamin Richter, i.e. Mr. Jingles, John Carroll Lynch played a former janitor of Camp Redwood who's framed for the 1970 massacre by Margaret Booth in American Horror Story: 1984. A well-established, highly versatile character actor, Lynch proved his talents in a variety of projects, though many discovered his talents through his portrayal of Twisty the Clown in American Horror Story: Freak Show and Cult. He's also known for his work in The Drew Carey Show, Zodiac, The Invitation, The Founder, Gran Torino, Shutter Island, Face/Off, One Dollar, Bubble Boy, Fargo, Grumpy Old Men, Bug, Crazy, Stupid, Love, Jackie, Close to Home, K-Ville, Do No Harm, and Body of Proof. Additionally, Lynch directed 2017's Lucky.

Most recently, John Carroll Lynch starred in Aaron Sorkin's Netflix drama, The Trial of the Chicago 7. He also appeared in Kiss Me Before It Blows Up, which premiered in Germany in September. And Lynch appeared in NBC's Perfect Harmony. Next, he'll play a lead role in ABC's procedural drama, Big Sky, which premieres on November 17th.

Angelica Ross (Rita/Donna Chambers)

As Donna Chambers, a psychologist who harbors an obsession with serial who impersonates a nurse at Camp Redwood named Rita, Angelica Ross plays an intriguing role in American Horror Story: 1984. As an actress, her breakout role came from FX's Pose, another Ryan Murphy production, where she played Candy Ferocity. She also appeared in Transparent, Claws, King Ester (which she produced), Doubt, and Her Story. She also lent her voice to Danger & Eggs. And she can be seen in episodes of the reality TV series, I Am Cait. In addition to her acting credits, Ross is also the founder and CEO of TransTech Social Enterprises, a firm that helps employ transgender people in the tech industry. She's also a self-taught computer coder.

Most recently, Angelica Ross appeared in Netflix's documentary, Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen. Next, she'll star in the newest season of American Horror Story.

Zach Villa (Richard Ramirez)

Playing the part of Richard Ramirez, a serial killer, Zach Villa plays a menacing character in American Horror Story: 1984. A musician in addition to being an actor, Villa plays piano, drums, guitar, bass, and violin and he's the lead vocalist and guitarist in the band Clyvia. Prior to this band, Villa performed in Rebel and a Basketcase. As an actor, meanwhile, Villa starred in Destroyer, As You Like It, Cardboard Boxer, and Honeyglue. He also appeared in The Expanse, Dan is Dead, Bordertown, NCIS: Los Angeles, Archer, and Shameless. Additionally, Villa did voice work for the video games, Batman: The Telltale Series and Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn.

Dylan McDermott (Bruce)

As Bruce, a hitchhiker who has taken a taken or two (or more), Dylan McDermott played a chilling role in American Horror Story: 1984. The actor is best known for his Emmy-nominated role in ABC's The Practice. And McDermott can be seen in previous AHS seasons, including Murder House, Asylum, and Apocalypse. His other television credits include Dark Blue, Hostages, Stalker, Ally McBeal, Big Shots, LA to Vegas, The Politician, No Activity, and Tales from the Crypt.

Additionally, Dylan McDermott stars in Steel Magnolias, Hamburger Hill, Twister (1989), Where Sleeping Dogs Lie, Home for the Holidays, Texas Rangers, Party Monster, Runaway Jury, The Messengers, 1994's Miracle on 34th Street, The Campaign, Olympus Has Fallen, The Clovehitch Killer, Josie, Behaving Badly, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Most recently, he starred in Netflix's Hollywood — another Ryan Murphy production. Currently, McDermott is filming a role in King Richard.

Lily Rabe (Lavinia Richter)

In the role of Lavinia Richter, the mother of Bobby and Benjamin, Lily Rabe played a recurring character in American Horror Story: 1984. A Tony-nominated actress for her 2010 performance in The Merchant of Venice during Shakespeare in the Park, Rabe gained greater notice for her various performances in American Horror Story. She also had the lead in ABC's The Whispers. Additionally, Rabe played Liz Cheney in Vice. Her other film credits include Mona Lisa Smile, All Good Things, No Reservations, What Just Happened, Miss Stevens, Pawn Sacrifice, Finding Steve McQueen, and Fractured. And she appeared in The Good Wife, Medium, The Wizard of Lies, and Nip/Tuck.

Currently, Lily Rabe can be seen in HBO's The Undoing. Next, the actress will be seen in Amazon Prime's Tell Me Your Secrets and The Underground Railroad. Additionally, Rabe will star in the next season of FX's American Horror Story.

Leslie Jordan (Courtney)

Playing the part of Courtney, Margaret's personal assistant, Leslie Jordan doesn't get a long stay in American Horror Story: 1984, unfortunately. An actor of the stage and screen with over a hundred credits to his name, Jordan is an incredibly persistent performer. His most notable performance was seen in Will & Grace, and he also appeared in The Help, Boston Legal, Ally McBeal, Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, Sordid Lives, Hearts Afire, The Cool Kids, The Last Sharknado: It's About Time, Night Court, The People Next Door, and Pee-Wee's Playhouse. He also played several other characters throughout AHS's run.

Most recently, Leslie Jordan starred in Until We Meet Again. He also filmed a role in Strangers in a Strange Land and he'll star in the upcoming sitcom, Call Me Kat. Additionally, Jordan gained notice for a series of funny videos that he posted earlier this year.

After nine seasons of American Horror Story, it's remains a fun guessing game in speculating what each follow-up season will be about, and what past AHS elements will be involved. Thankfully, co-creator Ryan Murphy likes to stoke such heated conjecture with teasy imagery, and he seems to be showing viewers that Season 10 will feature a spooky callback to Season 1's Murder House.

Taking to Instagram a few days after promoting the Netflix documentary Circus of Books that he executive produced, Ryan Murphy shared an image of a very familiar face to American Horror Story fans. No, not the returning star Sarah Paulson, but rather a very familiar lack of a face that sorta reflects others' faces back at them. I'm talking about Rubber Man!

Before getting too enthused about Ryan Murphy's Murder House throwback imagery, let's just throw the caveat out there that the social media post might not be a sure sign that Season 1's Rubber Man will be returning for Season 10. However, if it walks like a Rubber Duck, and quacks like a Rubber Duck, it's probably a Rubber Duck. Possibly with Evan Peters' ghastly murderer/rapist/misbegotten teen duck Tate hidden inside the suit.

Clearly, with only the caption "Coming soon..." to work with, American Horror Story fans can mainly just hypothesize the obvious, that Season 10 will find a way to incorporate Rubber Man into some kind of callback festivities. But which Rubber Man will audiences get to see in AHS' future?

Back in Season 1, Tate donned the rubber BDSM suit that Zachary Quinto's Chad bought to spice up his sex life with his partner Patrick (Teddy Sears), and killed both of them. He later used it when impregnating and haunting Connie Britton's Vivien Harmon and when knocking out Dylan McDermott's Ben Harmon, among other times. At the end of the same season, Ben became Rubber Man in order to freak out the Ramos family that had just moved into Murder House,

Rubber Man returned in Season 8's Apocalypse, when Cody Fern's Michael Langdon was staying at Murder House. He and Ben Harmon are a total father-and-son pair, and Michael takes the Rubber Man-tle, as it were, by wearing the suit and murdering whatever family had moved in next. Dare we hope to see ALL THREE VERSIONS in Season 10?

As confirmed earlier this year, American Horror Story's Season 10 cast will welcome back Evan Peters, so that's at least one candidate for the job. Other AHS veterans joining Peters will be Kathy Bates, Adina Porter, Angelica Ross, Lily Rabe, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, and Finn Wittrock. The newcomer this time around will be Macauley Culkin, so you know he's going on the list of potential Rubber Man portrayers.

American Horror Story Season 10 doesn't have a release date set just yet, but as soon as Ryan Murphy is able to give fans a hint of when that might happen, you can bet it'll spread far and wide. The cast of Ryan Murphy's upcoming Netflix series, The Politician, is continuing to take shape. As it turns out, the streaming show will reunite Murphy with more than one of star from American Horror Story. The great Jessica Lange has officially boarded the political satire.

Details on Jessica Lange's character are scarce. We do know one interesting tidbit about how the role was landed, though, thanks to Barbara Streisand. (Naturally.) As those following the development of The Politician may recall, Streisand was initially attached to star in the series.

Fast forward to now, and it turns out Jessica Lange has officially taken over the role that Barbara Streisand was originally set to play. Streisand made mention of the casting switch in an interview with the New Yorker in early November. Now, the casting news has been confirmed.

In boarding The Politician, Jessica Lange is joining her former American Horror Story co-star Dylan McDermott. The two crossed paths quite a bit in Season 1's Murder House, and also starred in Asylum, to later both appear in the most recent season, Apocalypse.

The actor shared that he plays a con man who has maxed out his credit cards and is living a lie. Dylan McDermott also revealed that his character reaches out to an escort service to find a date to attend an event with him. Afterward, they get married. So there are already some interesting angles to play with in that origin story.

Dylan McDermott himself provided another new casting detail. The actor revealed another star who has joined the ensemble in an interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio: Mad Men's January Jones. Who is she playing?

January Jones will play Dylan McDermott character's wife. Thankfully, the actor also dropped that tidbit about how his and Jones' character met. It's certainly some intriguing insight about the character, which sounds as though it will be a far cry from January Jones' Mad Men character, Betty Draper.

Jessica Lange and January Jones join a cast that already includes the previously announced stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Dear Evan Hansen's Ben Platt. Few exact details are known about other elements The Politician. News about the Netflix project started making the rounds a while ago, and we'll hopefully get more soon now that casting is in full swing.

The Politician is said to focus on a well-off young man from Santa Barbara, who decides its time to dive into politics. The series is part of Ryan Murphy's multi-year deal to produce original content for Netflix, a deal that commenced in July. It's a good sign for fans of his previous work that he's already tapped two American Horror Story vets for this show. Maybe Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters aren't too far behind.

A release date for The Politician has not been set yet. When it does debut, it will do so on Netflix. In the meantime, a lot of new TV content will be available to stream this fall and in the midseason.

The world is still waiting on actual details about American Horror Story: Apocalypse's big crossover between Murder House and Coven, but it's now been revealed the franchise's first family will apparently be coming together again for the new season. It's being reported that both Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott are filming scenes for the future-set American Horror Story: Apocalypse, which can only mean the presumably fraught-filled returns of Vivien and Ben Harmon.

Given that American Horror Story: Apocalypse will feature the return of Michael Langdon, the antichrist that was conceived by Vivien and Tate-As-Rubber-Suit-Man back when Season 1 kicked off. (Cody Fern will be taking over the role for Season 8.) So it's only natural that we should be able to reconnect with the bastard child's mother in some way, shape or form. And while it would have been great to get Vivien without Ben around to muck things up, it might be nice to reconnect with Ben's emotional destruction for a spell. (Witch pun intended.)

Technically, Vivien and Ben's returns haven't been fully confirmed, with TheWrap's report only saying that Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott will be filming, without any specific characters getting named. But crossover-centric common sense dictates that the Harmons are coming back for more.

How will they do it, some may be asking, considering everyone in the family besides Michael was killed off by the end of the season. Being dead is hardly a reason for a character to not appear in American Horror Story, and we're also pretty clueless how each of the recently revealed Coven stars will be coming back, since many of them also met horrifying fates in different ways. Something tells me we won't actually find anything out until the premiere kicks off, though.

Aiding this Harmon-ious assumption is that Taissa Farmiga is also returning to the franchise as a regular for the first time since American Horror Story: Coven, so she may very well get a bit more ghastly for Apocalypse as Vivien and Ben's daughter Violet. As well, both the long-absent Jessica Lange and Evan Peters are returning in currently unspecified capacities, but it's easy to assume we'll soon see Constance and Tate Langdon on our TVs again.

Beyond those listed above, the American Horror Story: Apocalypse cast is also welcoming back franchise vets like Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman and Billy Eichner. And other than Cody Fern, the only new cast member that has been confirmed is Joan Collins, which is the only that matters anyway, right?

Since Fox's humble beginnings, its best shows are almost always the ones that go ridiculously over the top, especially when it comes to comedy. And the network is kicking off 2018 in familiar fashion with the new show LA to Vegas, a fairly by-the-numbers workplace comedy that colors far outside the lines with signature Las Vegas over-indulgence. With lots of talent both on the screen and behind the scenes, LA to Vegas soars to some hilarious heights with a never-ending string of ridiculously silly situations, and it's all anchored by the best performance of Dylan McDermott's career.

Right away, the biggest thing that LA to Vegas has gong for it is its pilot episode, the surprisingly rounded and successful sum of a lot of randomly amusing parts. From the character introductions to the built-in appeal of its flight-based narrative structure, the premiere hits all the "promising TV comedy" checkboxes, and successive episodes maintain the frictionless comedic glide, even if they don't share the same first-watch punch. This isn't a groundbreaking or hyper-brilliant series, but it nears the apex of enjoyability.

While Dylan McDermott's buffoonishly captivating Captain Dave is front and center of LA to Vegas' marketing campaign, the show is actually centered on the in-flux flight attendant Ronnie, played by UnREAL and Bold and the Beautiful vet Kim Matula. Ronnie has spent the past eight months working for Jackpot Airlines, which hosts round-trip weekend flights between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Thought it might not be the most glamorous job, Ronnie might not be the most glamorous person, and she's learning a lot of perhaps unintentional life lessons from coworkers and passengers alike. Matula was perfectly cast here, too, and she diligently retains Ronnie's humanity amidst everyone else's debauchery.

Ronnie's closest work confidante is fellow flight attendant Bernard, played by Zoolander familiar and Broadway great Nathan Lee Graham. Bernard is as self-confident and put-together as Ronnie is messy and impulsive, with a warm and wide smile that hides an incisive snark. And then there's co-pilot Alan, played by Amir Talai, whose sporadic appearances largely set him up as the straight-man to everyone else's shenanigans.

Those shenanigans often involve some of the regular passengers bringing their luck and skill to Las Vegas. For instance, the great Peter Stormare is a friendly sleaze as Artem, a gambling-minded man who finds a way to play the odds in any given situation. Nichole, played by The Young Pope's Olivia Macklin, is a weekend stripper whose networking skills are as good as her cash-earning skills. Then there's Mindy Project vet Ed Weeks as the mostly grounded Colin, whose Vegas visits have very little to do with the casinos and nightlife. There are initially some sparks between Ronnie and Colin, but there are just as many obstacles getting in the way.

Now, we arrive at the mustachioed crown jewel of LA to Vegas: Dylan McDermott's Captain Dave. A boozy and ego-driven extrovert who probably assumes "the friendly skies" refers to his (often unprofessional) fraternizing, Captain Dave exudes a charming obliviousness that saves him from being an ignorant asshole. Following in the footsteps of The Office's Michael Scott, The IT Crowd's Douglas Reynholm and others, McDermott's pilot is a dimbulb-in-charge that we can't take our eyes off of. Too much of him would be a bad thing, but I still found myself wishing LA to Vegas put him in more scenes; like, in all of them.

LA to Vegas was created by Lou Zimmet, who has written and produced episodes on a host of winning comedies, from Happy Endings to Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to I'm Sorry, and the new Fox series shares each of those shows' winning mixture of irreverence and character work. Also on board in the development process was executive producer and episode director Steven Levitan, best known for creating shows such as Modern Family and Just Shoot Me!, and LA to Vegas showcases the rapid-fire dialogue that Levitan shows are known for. Admittedly, the Fox show likely wouldn't win any battles against any of those aforementioned shows, but it's tough competition.

No one should ever mistake LA to Vegas as news footage or a docu-seres, since it would be horrifying to believe that this is the kind of thing that goes on in the airline industry. (And airlines wouldn't want that, either.) But viewers' suspension of disbelief only has to go as far as it does for other Fox comedies, so LA to Vegas is allowed to thrive in its salacious goofiness, and it does just that. This is a comedy that could easily last for quite a few years, given all the storytelling real estate it offers, but if for nothing else, LA to Vegas deserves to stay on the air a dozen years simply for giving audiences a chance to watch the psuedo-namesakes Dylan McDermott and Dermot Mulroney finally go head to head on the small screen. Lo, it was as magical as we'd have hoped.

When he isn't being mixed up with Dermot Mulroney on Saturday Night Live, Dylan McDermott has been appearing on American Horror Story, with his first on screen appearance in the FX drama series' second season taking place just last night. And it looks like he'll be sticking around the horror genre for one of his upcoming feature roles, as he's been cast in Universal's adaptation of Stephen King's short story Gramma, titled Mercy.

Directed by Peter Cornwell, Mercy follows two brothers who go with their mother to visit their dying grandmother, who just so happens to be a witch who made some kind of deal using black magic years ago. Frances O'Connor is on board to play the mother, and late last month, we learned that Super 8's Joel Courtney and The Walking Dead's Chandler Riggs were set up to play the brothers.

ShockTilYouDrop.com reported earlier today that McDermott has joined the cast of the film. And THR says he's playing a man who once had a relationship with the mother and he still has feelings for her. She's married, though, so that may present some drama.

This year, McDermott has appeared in The Perks of Being A Wallflower and recently returned to American Horror Story to play a much creepier role than the one he had in the FX horror-drama's first season. News of his casting in another dark-sounding project seems especially well timed when factoring in his appearance on American Horror Story: Asylum last night.

We've known for a couple months now that Gerard Butler would be protecting the president as a secret service agent in the upcoming action film Olympus Has Fallen for a couple months now, but today we hear word that he won't be the only one working to save the White House from terrorists.

Variety reports that Dylan McDermott has taken a part as a secret service agent in Olympus Has Fallen. Set to be directed by Antoine Fuqua, the story has been described as "Die Hard in the White House" and is based on a spec script written by Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedik. The project has been moving along swiftly in recent weeks, as Roland Emmerich is currently developing a very similar project called White House Down with Channing Tatum. In the last week alone the production has hired both Aaron Eckhart, who will be playing the President of the United States, and Angela Bassett. The movie will be Fuqua's first since 2009's Brooklyn's Finest.

McDermott has spent a lot of time on television in recent years, playing major roles on series such as Big Shots, Dark Blue and, most recently, American Horror Story, but has started getting back into the features game. At this year's Sundance Film Festival he starred alongside Olivia Thirlby, John Krasinski, Rosemarie DeWitt and Jane Levy in the indie drama Nobody Walks, and has two more big titles coming out later this year in Jay Roach's The Campaign as well as the highly -anticipated adaptation of the young adult novel The Perks of Being A Wallflower.

It was only five or six days ago that my interest in Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's American Horror Story was, well, what's less than zero? Then everything changed in a matter of seconds. Literally, all it took was the first three promos for the show to completely alter my perception and anticipation for the upcoming FX horror series. I still don't know what to expect, but now I find that mystery intriguing and not just inconsequential.

Don't get me wrong, I have (had) a lot of respect for Glee when it first hit the airwaves. I mean, bringing a musical to primetime, network television was a gutsy move and it totally paid off. For me, though, it only really worked for about half of the first season, not disproving the viability of musicals on TV, just proving that you have to maintain a level of quality to maintain interest -- my interest, especially -- and Glee falls far short of that. So we're back at AHS and why all of a sudden this one is at the top of my must-see list this fall.

The cast is decent enough (including Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton, Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, and Alexandra Breckenridge) but, like I said above, it was the first rash of promos that grabbed and piqued my interest. I posted the first three the other day, and they are wonderfully ambiguous, eerie, and unsettling. No cheap scares, no clichés, just abstract footage mixed with a cover of "Tainted Love." They are supposed to function as clues but all I can make of it is...uh, this shit is weird. To be fair, I think they're hinting at past affairs, possibly illegitimate (dead) children, and a lot of death.

Before briefly discussing the new viral campaign, let's get to the fifth video, "Lying Down," which introduces us to another one of the show's characters. A character I can only describe as the gimp...and if you want the gimp or other odd characters from the show to come to your house for a haunting, well, that's entirely possibly with the American Horror Story "Horror House Calls." American Horror Story premieres October 5th on FX. It stars Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton, and Jessica Lange.

Ryan Murphy and his Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk are returning to the house that helped establish them with their long-running soapy take on plastic surgery, Nip/Tuck. Deadline is reporting that FX has given American Horror Story from Murphy and Falchuk a full 13-episode series order. The things-going-bump-in-the-night drama pilot focuses on a therapist (Dylan McDermott) and his wife (Connie Britton) who move their family into a new home. Apparently McDermott's character cheated on his wife, and the couple hopes the new set of digs will also help give them a fresh start. Unfortunately, with a title like American Horror Story, you can guess that the house is going to be more trouble than the adultery ever was. Especially when the series' inspirations include The Shining.

While I've never jumped aboard the Glee train, I watched Nip/Tuck from start to finish, and despite that show's uneven track record, there's no question that Murphy and Falchuk can put together solid television. I'm also excited to see them tackling a different genre, especially since shows like Twin Peaks and American Gothic have proven that slow-burn horror can work remarkably well in a series format (whether or not it finds an audience is an altogether different question). While the haunted-house concept has been thoroughly strip-mined, American Horror Story still has the potential to be something special given the talent involved. At the very least, FX seems confident, having targeted the show for a fall 2011 launch even before the show had any actors attached. Between this and Powers, FX's upcoming slate definitely has my attention.

I should get this out of the way...I don't watch Glee. I tried really hard at the beginning to get into it because, if nothing else, I admire the guts it takes to put a musical on prime-time television. And what do you know, I may not have climbed on board, but the guts turned into glory as Glee has become a cultural phenomenon (hell, they've got more Billboard No. 1s than The Beatles) and turned Ryan Murphy into a household name.

Then he directed Eat Pray Love (which was widely regarded, by myself included, as terrible and trite) and opened his big, arrogant mouth, first chastising Modern Family's gay relationship before basically announcing that if your band won't let his show use your music, you're the devil (I may have paraphrased). For one instance of Murphy's inability to mind his business, you can read Katey's post on his Modern Family rant.

Despite all this, his next project, the FX pilot American Horror Story, is getting as much press as his mouth, and has many people waiting with high hopes. First they signed Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton to play the leads, and now, with Jessica Lange and Dennis O'Hare already on board in supporting roles, they've added two more the cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Frances Conroy and Alexandra Breckenridge have joined the hour-long drama from Murphy and writing partner Brad Fulchuk. The two actresses will be playing the same role (presumably one the younger version and the other the older), "Moira O'Hara, a housekeeper who has worked at the haunted home at the center of the drama for years." Sounds interesting? Conroy is best known for her work on Six Feet Under while Breckenridge was on the TV series Life Unexpected.

Dylan McDermott is so handsome, it was surprising he didn’t segue from the popular television series The Practice to leading man in bad J-Lo romantic comedies. McDermott has been busy, though. Since The Practice ended in 2004, he has made several movies and had key roles in the short-lived television series' Big Shots and Dark Blue.

Now, McDermott is set to star in FX’s new pilot, American Horror Story, which was written by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, of Glee fame. Murphy is also set to direct the pilot, which will include roles for veteran actresses Connie Britton and Jessica Lange, as well as a co-starring role for creepy-as-hell True Blood actor, Denis O’Hare. According to Deadline, plot details have been wrapped up as tightly as a mummy. If you are worried about the Glee guys’ involvement, don’t. The series should be more Alfred Hitchcock than Rocky Horror Picture Show. Besides, Kelly West, already assured us the project won’t affect any Gleeks.
