I have a job that has let me meet and speak with more than a few celebrities. But I’ll admit if I walked past a lot of them on the sidewalk, I’m sure there are a lot of famous people I probably wouldn’t recognize. That means I’d probably be out the $10,000 a woman just for picking out the real celebrity in a line-up of lookalikes.

In a setup that looks like Netflix’s Is It Cake?, only the cakes are famous people, Mr. Beast had a woman check out five “celebrities” which included Drake, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Kevin Hart, and Sabrina Carpenter. The trick was that only one of the five celebrities was the real person. The woman had to keep her distance, which made the game a little tougher, but she pulled it off. Check out the video and see if you do.

A couple of the lookalikes feel like they’re intentionally off the mark. Drake doesn’t look that much like Drake, and unless Justin Bieber has really changed his look recently, which is possible, that doesn’t look that much like him to me But the other three, especially at a distance, could totally be who they claim to be.

I’m still not convinced that the Ed Sheeran lookalike isn’t really him. Is it possible that there were two celebrities in the group and they just never told us? I think the real guy has more tattoos that would be visible, but other than that, this guy would likely win a celebrity lookalike contest, and might even beat the real man.

Kevin Hart, the real celebrity in the mix, would have been hard to pick out because, while he says his face was doing “Kevin Hart stuff,” we don’t really see that in the video, which makes him less easy to identify. I feel like Kevin Hart always has a smile on his face, so seeing him look so serious makes it hard to be sure it’s really him.

I’ll be honest, a lot of Mr. Beast’s stunts, at least the ones that tend to get him noticed, tend to rub me the wrong way as they frequently seem to be designed to make a spectacle of normal people who take a shot at winning money. Of course, maybe I’m just jealous that I can’t afford to rent out Disneyland myself.

This one at least is mostly harmless. It’s a fun game, and it’s reasonably challenging. It’s an amount of money that would be really nice to win, but wouldn’t make most people feel like they’d ruined their life to not win it. Plus you get to meet a famous person. Not a bad deal.

Spooky season didn’t disappoint this year. Halloween 2025 might go down as the year celebs really committed, whether it was for laughs, screams, or a nostalgic costume throwback. From DIY looks to full FX transformations. Nevertheless, I did not have Ed Sheeran dresses as the iconic scary movie clown Pennywise on my costume bingo card.

We have to start here. Ed Sheeran showing up as a terrifyingly convincing Pennywise has to be one of my favorites. The singer's face paint, wig, and unsettling smile screamed new horror movie vibes more than pop star party. But what was particularly hilarious was how he showed off the look on his Instagram. The singer shared a carousel of images and videos of him sitting down and enjoying tea in a busy cafe and trying to enjoy a slice of pizza while being nearly blown away by the wind. He nailed it:

This look might not have been on my bingo card, but it stole my heart. Down here, you'll float too, because Sheeran does.

Lin-Manuel Miranda Channels A DIY Hamilton

Lin-Manuel Miranda gave us budget brilliance in the best way. In a series of images posted to social media, Miranda donned his Hamilton look using only items from his wife’s closet and a few paper towels; he dubbed it "Hamilleween." Check it out below:

Heidi Klum Dominates As Medusa

The undisputed Queen of Halloween, Heidi Klum, outdid herself yet again—this time transforming into a full-bodied Medusa for her annual Halloween bash. With coiled snakes, textured scales, and a dramatic mermaid-length tail, the look was nothing short of mythical. In a video interview with Entertainment Tonight shared to their Instagram, Klum revealed the transformation, which you can see in her Instagram post below, took five months to design and build. However, when she got engaged to Travis Kelce, she actually forgot to tell her friend about it, and she told the story behind it on The Tonight Show. Now, the “Thinking Out Loud” singer has responded to this whole situation in a hilarious way.

What Taylor Swift Said About Not Telling Ed Sheeran About Her Engagement

Following the release of The Life of a Showgirl and killing it at the box office with her Showgirl release party, Taylor Swift is continuing to promote her album, and she spent part of her time on The Tonight Show talking about rumors with Jimmy Fallon. She addressed why she wouldn’t be playing the Super Bowl halftime show, and she explained why Ed Sheeran didn’t learn about her engagement from her personally. She had a “perfect explanation” too, passionately saying:

Well, that alone explains what happened. She then went on to say that when it came to picking who she’d inform about this life update, she went through her texts. So, that’s partially why Sheeran didn’t get a call.

However, it turns out, it’s a whole ordeal to get in contact with Ed Sheeran, as well, as she explained:

Listen, should Ed Sheeran have been personally informed? Probably. However, I also totally get why Swift ended up forgetting, and it seems like he does too, based on his comment about it all.

How Ed Sheeran Responded To Taylor Swift’s Admission

As I stated, there is no “Bad Blood” between Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. In fact, he seemed to get a kick out of this story. That’s because when The Tonight Show clip was posted on TikTok (which you can see above), the singer used some of his iPad time to comment on it, hilariously writing:

I love that he used his iPad to comment on this whole situation in, honestly, a fairly timely manner. It hasn’t even been 24 hours since Swift’s episode of The Tonight Show aired on the 2025 TV schedule, so Sheeran was pretty on top of it. And that makes this funnier.

Well, now everyone knows about Taylor Swift’s engagement, including Ed Sheeran, and I’m truly obsessed with this discourse about him finding out. These two are friendship goals, honestly, and I hope we get more fun shenanigans between them as we learn more about Swift and Kelce’s eventual wedding.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged, which means a wedding is coming, and that means there are questions about who will perform at it. The pop star is friends with a whole bunch of very talented musicians, and it’s hard not to wonder who might sing for the happy couple. Well, recently, she explained why she’s pretty sure her pal Ed Sheeran will be taking the mic during her big day.

Ed Sheeran said he was always being asked to perform at weddings on Hits Radio, so the hosts asked Taylor Swift about that fact as she was promoting the release of her album The Life of a Showgirl as well as its theatrical release party. They specifically wondered if he would be performing at her and Travis Kelce’s ceremony. In response, the pop star quipped:

What can she say? He’s a performer. And it'd make sense that you can't put a stage and a microphone in front of a singer and not expect them to sing.

After noting that the idea of the “Shape of You” singer getting up to play her wedding was likely inevitable, she explained why that’s the case, joking:

Well, Swift wants to do the exact same thing, so she got a real kick out of talking about this possibility. After saying that Sheeran would likely be singing at her wedding, whether it’s planned or not, she said that his urge to get up on stage anytime there is one is something she has too, saying:

While she didn’t name a specific event here, she did spontaneously play “Shake It Off” at a Tight End University event earlier this year. According to 49ers tight end George Kittle, that 1989 moment was not planned, and it was her idea to get up there and perform.

So, based on that kind of mentality, I think she’d be totally here for an impromptu performance of a song like “Thinking Out Loud” on the day she marries her partner, Travis Kelce. As she said, doing things like that is what they do, and they love it so, so much:

Now, odds are, if Ed Sheeran does actually take the stage at Taylor Swift’s wedding, we probably won’t see it. However, I don’t think it’s improbable to think that the two pop stars will perform publicly again at some point. They have collaborated many times, Sheeran opened for her years ago, they reunited on the Eras Tour, and have an extensive history of playing live together.

So, let’s hope that happens, and let’s hope Sheeran performs at her wedding too, because that’d be, as he would say, “Perfect.”

The virality of some trends on apps like TikTok and Instagram lead to the reveals of some wild stories amongst some Hollywood big hitters you couldn’t even begin to imagine. One of the most recent examples comes from Ed Sheeran. The singer revealed that he and the newly engaged Benny Blanco had a strange trip whilst traveling to the United Kingdom, and it involved the actual Titanic (and a rewatch of the great cinematic equivalent).

A recently launched trend involves social media users sharing a crazy story with a surprising twist, and the aforementioned singer-songwriter's tale delivers. The "Bad Habits" writer posted his version of the Muppet-centric-Pepe trend to his TikTok. As the British star explained in the slideshow, he and Blanco needed to travel from the US to the UK. However, Blanco divulged that he was afraid of flying and hoped to get on a boat with Sheeran to make the trip. While the "Lego House" performer didn't love the idea, especially once he realized it would be a 10-day voyage, he (literally) got on board with the idea.

Ultimately, everything was essentially fine, as the two stars were writing the Game of Thrones' guest star's album, Divide, singing songs into the ocean and more. Amid their first couple of days on board though, it was announced that they reached the spot where the Titanic sank. While Ed Sheeran was rattled by that, Benny Blanco convinced him to watch the iconic film Titanic. Sheeran agreed, and the two enjoyed their viewing, with Sheeran later celebrating that their ship made it through the area.

So you're probably wondering what the big twist (and Pepe moment is here). Well, sometime after the excursion, the "Castle on the Hill" singer learned that Blanco boarded a flight for a different adventure following their exploits on the open sea.

Needless to say, this story is perfect for the Pepe trend. I mean, would any of us have really believed that the two musicians traveled by sea together because of Benny Blanco’s fears and that they both experienced the part of the Atlantic where the Titanic sank together? For me, the answer is no! And, when it comes to the twist, I can't even imagine what it must've been like the moment the Yesterday alum learned about Blanco's eventual flight.

I can only imagine the two of them working on this less than ten years ago in a cabin, and all they can see is the sea. It’s trippy to think about, especially since Justin Beiber’s ‘Love Yourself’ could’ve very well been written on that trip. It’s even funnier and weirder that Sheeran handed it to the young performer after the singer-songwriter’s people didn’t think it was much of anything.

Leave it to the sweet and goofy record producer to pull a fast one or get over his fears quickly enough to leave Ed Sheeran stunned with his next trip. (His hanging with his new fiance on the set of her hit show, Only Murders in the Building seems like a much better experience for all involved.) I would be interested in hearing Benny Blanco's side of the story, though he's likely basking in that post-engagement joy with Selena Gomez.

All in all, I’m glad the two singers live to tell the tale, which is now immortalized on TikTok. Along with it, I’m so pleased to have the strange Titanic-adjacent experience documented in the wild bewildering style of Pepe the Muppet. On that note, anyone who'd also like to partake in a rewatch of James Cameron's Oscar-winning film about the doomed ship can stream it with a Paramount+ subscription.

It’s definitely not a new phenomenon to see one singer write a song and sell it to another artist. However, if that hit blows up, it leads to the inevitable question: Why didn’t they just keep it for themselves? Ed Sheeran addressed that exact scenario regarding “Love Yourself,” which he wrote and then gave to Justin Bieber, and it turns out the story of how and why that happened is pretty funny.

Ed Sheeran relayed the story of “Love Yourself” while performing a concert May 3 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida. laughing as he told the crowd (per Page Six): 

The singer then chuckled along with the audience before saying that the good thing about writing a song is that you can always sing it, and then the Hard Rock Live concertgoers were treated to Ed Sheeran’s version of “Love Yourself.”

However it went down, I’m sure Justin Bieber is grateful that Ed Sheeran was happy to unload the song. The “Peaches” artist released it on the 2015 album Purpose, and it became his third straight No. 1 single on the US Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart. It also rose to the top of the Adult Contemporary chart and was nominated for two Grammys (Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance).

“Love Yourself” ended up being one of multiple collaborations between the two pop stars. In 2019 they famously dueted on “I Don’t Care,” co-starring in its trippy music video. They also both contributed guest vocals to Dave star Lil Dicky’s 2019 song “Earth,” and are credited as co-writers on Major Lazer’s “Cold Water” in 2015, which features vocals from Bieber.

When he’s not playing pranks on Friends star Courteney Cox, Ed Sheeran has spent a lot of time writing music for other artists. To name just a few, he holds writing credits on One Direction’s “18” and “Little Things,” BTS’ “Make It Right,” Rita Ora’s “Your Song,” and Taylor Swift’s “End Game” and “Everything Has Changed,” both of which she performed as a surprise song on the Eras Tour.

It’s a good thing Justin Bieber heard the potential in “Love Yourself” and was able to turn it into a hit. Also, I hope that song was one of few that Ed Sheeran gave away because he didn’t think it was very good. Regardless it seems like the “Shape of You” crooner has a sense of humor about the situation.

While superstar singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran is usually seen doing sweet things like trade his guitar for Thor’s hammer with Chris Hemsworth, he has faced some controversies before over things like his cameo in Game of Thrones’ Season 7 premiere (which led to him leaving Twitter). However, the performer might be way more affected by trouble that comes about because of his music. It was just on Monday, April 24, that a trial began to determine whether or not the singer is guilty of copyright infringement on his 2014 hit, “Thinking Out Loud.” Unfortunately, the woman who’s suing him collapsed in court and had to be rushed to the hospital.

What Happened When The Woman Suing Ed Sheeran Collapsed In Court?

According to Entertainment Tonight, the trial was on its second day when Kathryn Townsend Griffin, the plaintiff who is suing Sheeran, became visibly ill during the testimony of a musicologist, one of her expert witnesses, who was under cross examination at the time. It was around 4:15 p.m. in the Manhattan U.S. Federal court when those in the room witnessed Griffin close her eyes and saw that her legs began to buckle. Apparently, attorneys from each side of the case then had to help “lift her out of the courtroom” to get medical attention from a nurse in the judge’s chambers.

She eventually left the courthouse in a wheelchair and was taken to a hospital for further treatment. Someone who was present in the courtroom told the outlet:

The legal team for Griffin said that she does have a pre-existing medical condition which may have led to her collapse. Once it was clear that the plaintiff was in the hands of medical professionals, the judge had the cross examination continue, adjourning for the day roughly 45 minutes later.

Why Is Ed Sheeran Being Sued For Copyright Infringement?

As noted previously, Sheeran’s Grammy Award winning “Thinking Out Loud” is the point of contention in the case, with Griffin being the daughter of songwriter Ed Townsend, who co-wrote the 1973 Marvin Gaye classic, “Let’s Get It On.” Townsend’s heirs claim the newer tune has “striking similarities" and "overt common elements" that are emblematic of copyright infringement (a claim Taylor Swift has also dealt with), according to Fox News.

One bit of evidence the plaintiff’s team has submitted for review involves a video of Sheeran (who nearly wrote and performed No Time To Die’s theme) in concert blending his song with the soul hit. When he testified on Tuesday, however, he defended the move by saying he does such mash ups a lot in live shows, and that it’s both easy to do because many songs have “similar chords,” and done with many other hits. He added that he’d “be quite an idiot” to perform a mash up of a song he supposedly plagiarized with the song he used the stolen elements for in front of a stadium full of people.

While we hope Griffin has now recovered, there is more to do in court, as the trial is expected to last for two weeks. This is Sheeran’s second trial over copyright infringement after having won the battle over his 2017 song, “Shape of You,” in a U.K. courtroom in April 2022.

Chris Hemsworth and Ed Sheeran come from different worlds. Hemsworth is a movie star who has fronted a variety of films across multiple genres, obviously including his MCU reign as OG Avenger Thor, while Sheeran is a multi-Grammy winning singer/songwriter with numerous smash hit songs and albums under his belt. Still, their worlds managed to collide in a new video, where the two swapped out some of their “tools from the trade.”

In an Instagram video posted by Hemsworth, the two megastars decided to exchange a couple of noteworthy artifacts that have been instrumental to their performances in their different fields. Hemsworth offered up Thor’s hammer, an essential and instantly recognizable element of his performances in the Marvel films. Meanwhile, Sheeran offered up his guitar, which he has likely written several hits on, from “Thinking Out Loud” to “Shape of You” and beyond. You can check out the epic video below:

Now this likely isn’t a permanent switch or anything, though even if it is, the props department for Marvel likely has an entire room full of altnerate hammers for Hemsworth to use in his next MCU film. He has admittedly decorated his bathroom with one of them, so I’m sure there are other expendable versions. Additionally, Sheeran probably has more guitars than he can count, and is talented enough to make any instrument his own. Still, it does make for an adorable video to think they're trading off with no backsies, and I’m sure these two have a lot more in common than we may think. They seem to get along great, and I think we’d all like to see these putting their various skills together in some way in the future. 

While Sheeran’s skillset is mostly within the music world, the singer has tried his hand at acting several times in the past. He is a central figure in the movie Yesterday, where he plays a singer-songwriter much like himself, and has also made cameo appearances in Game of Thrones, Red Notice and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. He definitely has some chops, so I could definitely see him making an appearance in a Marvel movie at some point. If Harry Styles can do it, why not Ed Sheeran?

While Hemsworth has never fancied himself a musician, I can still see the potential. Last year the Marvel star shared a hilarious video of him and his Avengers co-stars, singing “Hey Jude” by the Beatles. Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Jr. make quite the quartet, and maybe it’s about time they get the band back together. Now that they have Ed Sheeran’s guitar, anything is possible.

Picture this: in an alternate version of No Time To Die, the action and emotion of the pre-title opener gives way to Ed Sheeran's voice. It almost happened, as the history of James Bond movies has scored yet another “what if” in the theme song department. However, fate and one crucial change up saw Sheeran go from practically having the gig to losing out.  

During his appearance on That Peter Crouch Podcast, the artist behind hits like “Shape of You” and “Sing” revealed that he was absurdly close to adding his talents to the Bond franchise. The reason we can pretty much say this was for Daniel Craig’s 007 finale is because of the fact that it sounds like director Danny Boyle’s variation of what was known as Bond 25 was the project that was meant to make it happen. Ed Sheeran explained the scenario, with an aptly hysterical metaphor, as follows: 

From the sound of Sheeran’s story, it seems like Bond 25’s script and director were the key elements that aligned for his consideration. Which, of course, meant that Danny Boyle’s 2018 departure from the project, and the subsequent re-writes that followed, required a fresh start. 

Eventually the world would get Finneas and Billie Eilish’s No Time To Die theme out of the deal; a fitting track that opened the film perfectly. Even after the movie’s release, and the Oscar win that came as a result, it’s a song that still has Eilish fans freaking out two years later. But oh, it's hard not to think about what could have been.

That’s not to say that Ed Sheeran couldn’t have pulled off a James Bond theme. Rather, it sounds like whatever song he wrote would have been based off of a totally different Bond adventure from writer John Hodge and director Danny Boyle’s collaboration. The experience hasn’t put Sheeran off from wanting to take another swing, as he clarified thusly: 

Getting that close to performing a 007 theme tune is frustrating enough to warrant the sort of language that Ed Sheeran used. Joining the likes of Radiohead, Alice Cooper and even the legendary Dame Shirley Bassey herself, the English rocker is now one of the many acts that find their works on the heap of rejected James Bond themes. 

It doesn’t sound like Ed Sheeran finished working on what could have been Bond 25’s opening number, which is a bummer. However, if he ever wants to surprise the world and finish the song that could have signed 007’s death warrant, that’d be something pretty cool to behold.  For more stories like this one, you should definitely check out The Sound of 007 documentary. And, even though he has admitted in the past that his nervousness has stopped him from doing something like this in the past, Wilson did a tremendous job with his hosting duties, especially the sketch that saw him reprise his Cars character, Lightning McQueen. The SNL Season 47 premiere also featured Kacey Musgraves making history with her instant-classic performance.

October 9, 2021 - Kim Kardashian West With Musical Guest Halsey

On October 9, Kim Kardashian West hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time, and proved that she actually had great comedic timing. The episode, which was watched by millions of viewers, saw the reality TV star poke fun at her ex-husband Kanye West, multiple members of her family, and even O.J. Simpson to make her mark. The second episode of the season also featured musical guest Halsey, who performed on the very popular show for the fourth time throughout her career.

On October 16, Rami Malek, hot off the long-awaited release of No Time to Die, hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time in his career. One of the highlights of the episode was the sketch that saw Malek share the screen with his 007 co-star Daniel Craig, and SNL mainstay Kenan Thompson, in an audition for a Prince biopic. The third episode of the season also featured musical guest Young Thug, who made his SNL debut with a pair of electric performances.

October 23, 2021 - Jason Sudeikis With Musical Guest Brandi Carlile

On October 23, Saturday Night Live alum Jason Sudeikis returned to his old stomping grounds to host the long running series for the first time since departing the cast in 2013, although he has made multiple cameos during the years since then. The Ted Lasso star was featured in the majority of the sketches, including the cold open that saw three different versions of Joe Biden conversing in the Oval Office. Sudeikis also gave an impassioned opening monologue about the show’s history and what it means to him. Musical guest Brandi Carlile made her SNL debut in spectacular fashion.

November 6, 2021 - Kieran Culkin With Musical Guest Ed Sheeran

On November 6, Kieran Culkin hosted Saturday Night Live for the very first time and became the second Culkin brother to take the stage (Macaulay Culkin had the honor of hosting during the 1991 season). In the years since making his acting debut as the soda-loving Fuller McCallister in Home Alone, Culkin has appeared in movies ranging from Father of the Bride to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. He has also been one of the major players on the HBO drama series Succession, for which he has received both Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his portrayal of Roman Roy.

Filling the role of musical guest on SNL on November 6 was Ed Sheeran, who took the stage for the third time in his career. Sheeran previously appeared on SNL in April 2014 and February 2017.

November 13, 2021 - Jonathan Majors With Musical Guest Taylor Swift

On November 13, Jonathan Majors hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time in his young, yet highly-successful career, delivering an impressive opening monologue and showing off his comedy chops in many of the night's best sketches. This probably won’t be the last SNL appearance by Majors, whose career reached new heights following his portrayal of He Who Remains on Loki in Summer 2021, especially with his continued involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Stepping in as the musical guest on November 13 was Miss Americana herself, Taylor Swift, who broke from tradition and gave a single ten-minute performance of "All Too Well." This marked the fifth time Swift has taken to the SNL stage since she made her first appearance on the show in November 2009. Now, we just need to get T. Swift back on hosting duties.

November 20, 2021 - Simu Liu With Musical Guest Saweetie

On November 20, Simu Liu added Saturday Night Live host to his list of 2021 achievements when he appeared on the long-running sketch comedy program. Liu made waves earlier in the year when he portrayed the titular hero in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, making him the third Marvel star (so far) to host SNL this season. Liu is also no stranger when it comes to comedy, as he was a fixture of the sitcom Kim’s Convenience and also made guest appearances on Fresh Off the Boat and Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens.

Rap sensation Saweetie served as the Saturday Night Live musical guest for the first time in her career on November 20. In addition to her successful music career, the MTV Video Music Award-winning performer has also been featured on Grown-ish, Wild ’n Out, and Cooking with Paris.

December 11, 2021 - Billie Eilish

On December 11, Billie Eilish followed in the footsteps of Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and a few dozen other famous singers who have pulled double-duty as Saturday Night Live host and musical guest. Hot off the July 2021 release of her sophomore effort Happier Than Ever and the long-awaited release of No Time to Die (which features the Grammy-winning title track), Eilish showed off her comedy chops in multiple skits and the impressive opening monologue.

Billie Eilish also took care of the musical duties with renditions of "Happier Than Ever" and "Male Fantasy" alongside her brother and musical partner Finneas.

December 18, 2021 - Paul Rudd With Musical Guest Charli XCX

Paul Rudd officially became a member of the prestigious 5-Timers Club when he hosted Saturday Night Live on December 18, but not in the way in which everyone hoped. Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in New York City, Saturday Night Live's Christmas episode became a collection of pre-shot segments filmed throughout the week and classic skits from holidays past. Rudd was joined by fellow 5-Timers Tom Hanks and Tina Fey in studio, as well as Steve Martin and Martin Sheen via video. Fey even stuck around to appear alongside Michael Che in the Weekend Update segment.

Charli XCX was originally scheduled to be the episode's musical guest, but her performance was cancelled due to the decision by Saturday Night Live producers to have a limited cast and crew and no live audience due to the uptick in COVID-19 cases, according to a Tweet the singer made.

January 15, 2022 - Ariana DeBose With Musical Guest Bleachers

On January 15, Golden Globe winner Ariana DeBose made her Saturday Night Live debut when she hosted the first episode of 2022. DeBose became the second member of the Hamilton cast to serve as SNL host, and first since the Broadway hit’s creator Lin-Manuel Miranda hosted back in October 2016. To star things off, the West Side Story star was joined by SNL mainstay Kate McKinnon to perform a medley of numbers from Steven Spielberg's 2021 adaptation of the iconic Broadway musical.

Several days before Saturday Night Live was set to air, Roddy Ricch was replaced by Bleachers as that week's musical guest. The Jack Antonoff-led group performed the hit songs "How Dare You Want More" and "Chinatown."

January 22, 2022 - Will Forte With Musical Guest Måneskin

On January 22, Saturday Night Live alum Will Forte returned to 30 Rockefeller Plaza’s Studio 8H, and became the latest in a long line of SNL greats to host the show for the first time (even if he was the last of the core 2000s group to do so). Forte was joined by Kristen Wiig and the two went to town with some of their most iconic characters and tons of laughs throughout the night.

Italian rock outfit Måneskin served as the Saturday Night Live musical guest, performing their hits “Beggin” and “I Wanna Be Your Slave.”

January 29, 2022 - Willem Dafoe With Musical Guest Katy Perry

Willem Dafoe took to Studio 8H for the first time in his legendary career when he hosted Saturday Night Live on January 29. During his hilarious and endearing monologue, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star touched on everything from his over-the-top facial expressions to comparisons with the Joker.

Serving as musical guest was Katy Perry, who performed “When I’m Gone” and “Never Really Over during her fourth appearance on the long-running sketch comedy program.

February 26, 2022 - John Mulaney With Musical Guest LCD Soundsystem

Former Saturday Night Live writer John Mulaney joined the “Five-Timers Club” in a sketch during his February 26 hosting gig with cameos by Steve Martin, Candace Bergen, Paul Rudd, Tina Fey, Elliott Gould, and, most surprisingly, fellow former writer Conan O’Brien. Following a moving, choral tribute to Ukraine, the comedian gave a very personal, but thoroughly hilarious monologue and, later, kept tradition with a new musical sketch that pokes fun at New York’s subway system.

Also appearing in said sketch was musical guest LCD Soundsystem, the Grammy Award-winning rock outfit led by singer James Murphy. For their first appearance on Saturday Night Live since May 2017, the band performed two songs off of their self-titled, 2005 debut album - namely “Thrills” and “Yr City’s a Sucker.”

March 5, 2022 - Oscar Isaac With Musical Guest Charli XCX

Just in time for the Disney+ premiere of his Marvel TV show, Moon Knight, later in the month, Oscar Isaac made his Saturday Night Live hosting debut on March 5. During his opening monologue, the actor mentioned his MCU induction as a segue into showing clips from his childhood home movie - coincidentally called The Avenger - and capping it off with some encouragement for kids to be “weirdos” on the chance that they might host SNL one day.

Performing some tunes from her latest album, Crash, in between the humor was  Grammy winner Charli XCX.  This was the British singer’s second time on SNL, which was supposed to happen the night Paul Rudd hosted on December 18 before her appearance was canceled in response to the Omicron variant in New York.

March 12, 2022 - Zoë Kravitz With Musical Guest Rosalía

Making her SNL debut on March 12 was Zoë Kravitz, whose role as Catwoman in The Batman became a point of conversation that night. Her monologue saw the return of past Catwomen (Kate McKinnon as Batman Returns’ Michelle Pfieffer and Ego Nwodim as Eartha Kitt from the 1960s TV Series) as well as Aidy Bryant as a “Cat Lady” and Chris Redd as comedian Katt Williams. The actress also starred in a Please Don’t Destroy video (featuring a cameo by Riddler actor Paul Dano) in which the titular trio attempt to give their host a cat.

That night’s musical guest was Rosalía, who became the first in the show’s history to sing entirely in Spanish for both performances. This was also the first Saturday Night Live appearance ever for the singer-songwriter whose sophomore album El Mal Querer won the Latin Grammy for Album of the Year in 2019.

April 2, 2022 - Jerrod Carmichael With Musical Guest Gunna

It was actually surprising to learn that Neighbors cast member Jerrod Carmichael had never hosted SNL before he hit the stage when the show returned on April 2, 2022. In his monologue, the actor, writer, comedian, and filmmaker commented on recently coming out as gay on his new HBO Max stand-up special, Rothaniel, and his unwillingness to talk about a certain Oscars ceremony incident before later starring in a sketch about it.

The audience was also treated to a pair of performances by Gunna, who released his third and most recent studio album, DS4Ever, in January. The Georgia-based rapper also starred in a music video with Pete Davidson about some people’s preferences for watching “short-ass movies” depending on the time of day.

April 9, 2022 - Jake Gyllenhaal With Musical Guest Camila Cabello

The last time Jake Gyllenhaal hosted Saturday Night Live was 15 years earlier, followed by a few memorable cameos - most recently in February 2020 as a “guy who travels in pajamas” at LaGuardia Airport. The Academy Award nominee and Ambulance star actually mentioned his Dreamgirls song performance in drag at that first 2007 gig when he re-entered the Studio 8H spotlight, front-and-center, on April 9.

Also celebrating her sophomore SNL gig was Camila Cabello, who previously appeared as the show’s musical guest during Season 45 in 2019. The Cuban-American Grammy nominee, who made her acting debut with Amazon Prime’s Cinderella cast in 2021, was also joined by Willow Smith for the first live performance of their new song, “Psychofreak.”

April 16, 2022 - Lizzo

After making her Saturday Night Live debut as a musical guest on the night Eddie Murphy returned in Season 45, Lizzo made her hosting debut on April 16, 2022, with an opening monologue that she promised would break the record for the most times “bitch” has been said on live TV, and she just might have achieved it. The Grammy-winning artist had previously admitted to being nervous about breaking out in laughter, which did happen often, but actually leant to the appeal of the show and solidified Lizzo as one of this season’s most charming and enthusiastic hosts yet.

The Hustlers cast member also served as musical guest, performing two songs from her new album, About Damn Time (first introduced by herself and secondly by her mother). She also collaborated on a funny track with Please Don’t Destroy and demonstrated her masterful skills with a flute in a sketch that also utilized her twerking talent.

May 7, 2022 -  Benedict Cumberbatch With Musical Guest Arcade Fire

For the second time, Benedict Cumberbatch hosted Saturday Night Live while promoting his lead performance in a Marvel movie - namely Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, this time. This being Season 47’s Mother’s Day show, the Oscar nominee paid tribute to his mother and his wife in his hilarious monologue and later shared the screen with his MCU co-star, Elizabeth Olsen, for a funny moment from a later sketch.

Joining the Five-Timers Club on May 7, 2022 (if the membership rules also apply to musicians) was the episode’s musical guest, Arcade Fire, who also once performed on the show as special guests with then-host Mick Jagger in 2012.  The Grammy-winning, Canadian indie rock group played the two-part song “The Lightning” and “Unconditional (Lookout Kid)” off of their latest album, We.

May 14, 2022 -  Selena Gomez With Musical Guest Post Malone

Former Disney Channel star Selena Gomez, who previously performed on Saturday Night Live as a musical guest in Season 41, made her debut as a host  on May 14, 2022. In her monologue, the Only Murders in the Building cast member made fun of her co-star, Steve Martin (before also appearing in a sketch with him), and paid homage to her days on the children’s program, Barney.

While Gomez did not perform any music that night in Studio 8H, as that gig was secured by Post Malone. This was the first SNL appearance for the Grammy-nominated rapper and Wrath of Man cast member, who was also joined on stage by Roddy Rich and Fleet Foxes.

May 21, 2022 - Natasha Lyonne With Musical Guest Japanese Breakfast

Closing out Season 47 of Saturday Night Live on May 21, 2022 was Natasha Lyonne - the former Orange is the New Black cast member and star and co-creator of Russian Doll on Netflix. The actor made her hosting debut on what would also be the last episode for cast members Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney.

Also making their SNL debut as musical guest was Japanese Breakfast. The Grammy-nominated indie rock group, headed by Korean-American singer Michelle Zauner, performed two tracks from their third studio album, Jubilee, called “Be Sweet” and “Paprika.”

As someone who thought that Season 47 was, overall, a success, I am excited to see what they have in store with Saturday Night Live Season 48.

South Park’s offended plenty of people over the course of its run, especially a plethora of celebrities. With that said, typically chill singer Ed Sheeran took offense to the Comedy Central series long before he became a beloved musician and a Game of Thrones actor and recently dropped an f-bomb while jokingly explaining how the series ruined his life. 

Ed Sheeran recently spoke to Slam Radio (via Wearethemonks) and, after a conversation briefly detoured into whether he drew inspiration from South Park, the singer had to open up about the Season 9 episode that's apparently despised by redheads everywhere. Sheeran may dislike the episode a little more than most, though, as it was seemed to be somewhat devastating for him on a personal level:

As a redhead roughly around the same age as Ed Sheeran, I can totally confirm the redhead jokes spiked with the release of the South Park episode. One can’t help but feel a little bad for the stormtrooper stand-in after hearing the story, especially since it seems like he tends to get picked on more than most celebrities. This ranges from his performance with Beyoncé to his cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywaker.

The good news is the entertainer isn’t all that mad at South Park in the present. In fact, he mentioned that he’d love to work with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone in the future, even if they’re going to take a shot directly at him in an upcoming episode:

Ed Sheeran’s request definitely isn't out of the ordinary, as a good number of celebrities have voiced themselves on the long-running show over the years. Of course, far more haven’t, and that’s likely due to the subject matter and the joke that was being made at their expense. Sheeran seems like he’s down for anything, though, which should help his chances of appearing in a future episode. If it does happen, one can only hope audiences respond to it better than they did to his Game of Thrones cameo.

The latest installment definitely has some interesting twists fans won’t see coming and will enjoy while they wait for a new season. While most know Ed Sheeran for being a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and producer, he also has more than a few acting credits under his belt. Of course, his most high-profile performance is arguably his appearance on Game of Thrones. Sheeran appeared in the seventh season premiere as a Lannister soldier, a gig that followed years of discussions regarding a potential cameo for the entertainer. Now, in a new interview, the singer explained how the hit drama toyed with a major character’s death during his appearance.

Ed Sheeran talked about just about everything, from the British music scene to wine, during his recent appearance on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast. And of course, his appearance on the hit HBO series came up during the discussions. As Sheeran explained, one of the show's key stars, Maisie Williams, was a big fan of the British singer and that her character, Arya Stark, was actually going to meet her demise:

The fact that Arya Stark’s ending could have been completely different comes as a major surprise. What's also surprising (but sweet) is that the producers brought in the singer just as a surprise for the actress. One can only imagine how excited she was to not only see him but get to work with him on the massive series. I'm glad the character and the actress ultimately remained with the show, but I can't help but wonder how things would've progressed had Season 7 been her last. 

I'm also wondering what other tea the singer has from the Game of Thrones set. Surely four years after being on the show, which ended over two years ago, he’d be able to talk about everything, right? If anything, his recent reveal indicates that the creatives behind GoT didn't mind being flexible with the narrative. And thank goodness for that, in this case.

It's honestly still scary to think that Maisie Williams could have been written out of the show earlier than expected. But after hearing this story, I only appreciate her and her character more. Her Arya Stark was a big part of GoT and managed to make a serious impact, so I'm definitely glad that she was able to be on the series until the end. I'd be curious to hear any other secrets Ed Sheeran would be willing to divulge. I personally wouldn't be surprised if he has another whopper or two he's not speaking about.

This week in weird news, Ed Sheeran apparently loves taking his pals to a local bar, or what they’d call a pub across the pond. He’s done it more than once, per his own admittance, and generally it seems as if people do notice when other famous folks tag along. However, the “Perfect” singer recently revealed he once dropped by his favorite bar with Taylor Swift and people didn’t seem to “clock” it was her.

While Ed Sheeran has not named his local pub, apparently it’s at least reasonably common for him to take some famous faces to the location in Suffolk. Speaking during an episode of Kiss Breakfast, the singer said he’s taken Stormzy and others to the pub. Sometimes it goes well, other times it doesn’t, but Sheeran said that when he took Taylor Swift, no one noticed at all.

I suppose things could have been worse, as the “Bad Habits” singer also said that when he took rapper Stormzy everyone in the pub did notice and tried to be funny on top of that, in the totally awkward way only the people in your local bar could be. So, at least Taylor Swift was saved from that fate.

Though she’s never been one to really shy away from fan interactions, and will occasionally visit a sick fan or even crash a wedding, in general T-Swizzle likes to be a little bit mysterious with her fanbase. She likes to hide clues and play games with her biggest fans online surrounding her releases and she also interacts with fans in this way, which allows her to maintain a distance but still be interactive.

So, I suppose the fact she was able to get out and about with Ed Sheeran and maintain such a low profile despite being one of the most famous pop culture figures in the world, certainly adds to that aura of mystery she likes to keep about her. Though the fact a bartender did ask a week later could also indicate that people noticed and were simply too shy to say something.

Sheeren has friends in unexpected places, plus he and Swift have collaborated before, on her song “Everything Has Changed” as part of her Red release in 2012. This event also seems to have happened a while ago, as Sheeran also notes the last time he really brought someone to town was pre-pandemic. Plus, it’s worth mentioning that during Covid he and his wife Cherry Seaborn had a baby and so he had his own pub built on his property that he and his friends can get to via an underground tunnel from the house. Yes, really. So, I suppose in the future, if he wants to bring celebs to the “pub” there should be even less fanfare.

Ed Sheeran is known for many things: his musicianship, his multi-genre crooning, his Game of Thrones cameo and Star Wars appearance, his epic pranks involving sexual attire, his...wait a minute! The singer-songwriter may not come across as the most prank-minded entertainer out there, but he's apparently got quite a mischievous stripe. His good friend and Friends vet Courteney Cox can 100% attest to his talents for low-stakes schemes, as she has been a victim of an ongoing string of pranks tied to a leather mask. Or rather a bunch of leather masks.

Appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden to promote his newest hit single "Bad Habits," as well as to talk about fatherhood and soccer sponsorships, Ed Sheeran revealed the glorious way he's managed to prank Courteney Cox, and I'm pretty sure Joey and Chandler would give it a big, giggle-filled thumbs up. Explaining that he stays over with Cox and her boyfriend whenever he travels to Los Angeles, Sheeran said:

Okay, so this isn't the most high-minded prank in the world. (Or maybe it could be, depending on how high your mind is.) But the relative simplicity behind the gag definitely doesn't take away from either the hilarity behind it, or its ability to cause minor chaos within Courteney Cox's life. Because it's not just about Cox getting a bunch of random boxes and opening them and ha-ha-ha, joke's over. Sheeran revealed how many times he's pulled this Alexa prank, and also shared how it evolved as it went on.

I could get hysterical trying to put myself in the mindset of the people attempting to buy a musical instrument sans sex-related garments. Potentially purchasing a piano from Courteney Cox is already a distinct life experience for someone to have, and then to have that excitement combined with presumed confusion over finding the S&M headgear must have been jarring. I can only hope neither of those strangers read too deeply into the situation and brought out a bunch of whips, ball-gags and handcuffs. I mean, not that there's anything wrong with that in general, just probably not during that particular situation.

Courteney Cox is clearly okay with all the leather shenanigans, or else she probably would have booted Ed Sheeran to the curb immediately after getting that first package. In fact, James Corden even showed a video reaction that Cox had sent to Sheeran for his 30th birthday, making it clear that she's just as amused by the whole thing as the folk-pop star. Okay maybe not AS amused, but at least in the same vicinity.

I guess the moral of the story is "Never let Ed Sheeran hang out in a room alone with your electronic personal assistant, unless you have a bunch of spare mannequin heads that need coverings, and also probably get that whole 'having a bunch of spare mannequin heads' thing checked out by a professional, as there might be something going on there." While leather masks kind of sound miserable in the midst of the 2021 Summer TV season, The Late Late Show with James Corden, which has faced a bit of a backlash in recent weeks over its popular "Spill Your Guts" segment, airs weeknights on CBS at 12:35 a.m. ET.

Saoirse Ronan is one of the most critically acclaimed young actresses of the last decade or so, and she is only 25 years old. Little Women

Little Women follows the March sisters Amy, Meg, Jo, and Beth as they deal with the Civil War and becoming young women. Greta Gerwig directed the latest adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s beloved classic. Saoirse Ronan takes on the role of Jo March, the aspiring novelist who wants to make her own way in the world, without the confinement of marriage. Little Women’s cast includes Emma Watson, Eliza Scanlen, Timothee Chalamet, Laura Dern, Meryl Streep, and rising star Florence Pugh.

Saoirse Ronan gives Jo all the spunk, determination, and vulnerability that makes her such a beloved literary figure. Many have played Jo on the big screen prior to Ronan, but this is one of the best screen versions of Jo because of Ronan’s ability to communicate the barriers still faced by women. Little Women is currently still playing in theaters. It’ll be part of many theater’s Oscar Best Picture showcase on Feb 8. Little Women will likely be available to purchase digitally in March 2020.

Brooklyn

Brooklyn is a romantic historical drama about an Irish woman, Ellis (Saoirse Ronan), who moves to Brooklyn for work. While there, she falls in love with her life in America and a New Yorker named Tony (Emory Cohen). This makes Ellis torn between her homeland and her new life in New York. It’s based on Colm Tobin’s novel of the same name.

Saoirse Ronan was born in New York City, but her family moved back to Dublin when she was three, giving her both Irish and American roots. She spoke to Indiewire about relating to her character Ellis’ journey in Brooklyn. Saoirse Ronan often gives her whole heart to roles, but she likely gave even more of it in this relatable role. Brooklyn is a quiet movie with great performances by the entire cast, and especially Ronan. The film earned Ronan her first Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2016. Lady Bird is Greta Gerwig, Saoirse Ronan, and Timothee Chalamet’s first film collaboration. Lady Bird follows the turbulent relationship between Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) and her mother Marion McPherson (Laurie Metcalf). Their similarities often put their relationship in a constant combative state. Lady Bird earned both actresses Academy Award nominations for Best Lead and Supporting Actress.

Ronan nails the self-involved but sympathetic teen role in Lady Bird. Both Christine and Marion make you gasp at some of their behavior and words, but you also understand their individual struggles and why it fractures this relationship. Lady Bird also shows how despite the fighting, these two characters really love each other. Saoirse Ronan and Metcalf give splendid performances. Hanna

Eric Bana, Cate Blanchett, and Saoirse Ronan star in Hanna, a movie about a young girl whose father trained her to become an assassin. Hanna is an action adventure movie that Joe Wright directed. In 2019, Amazon Prime Video released a series based on the movie that goes more into the origin of Hanna and her father.

Saoirse Ronan took martial arts classes to do her own stunts. She was a committed actress even as a teen. Along with making Hanna a complete badass, she gave the character some humanity that kept the character from being a soulless killing machine. Loving Vincent

Loving Vincent is a completely hand drawn animation about the life and death of Vincent Van Gogh. The drawings of Loving Vincent mimic the famed painter’s actual post-impressionist style. The film is a fictionalized account of Van Gogh’s death told through the journey of Armand Roulin (Douglas Booth). He’s trying to deliver Vincent Van Gogh’s last letter to his brother. Armand’s journey makes him explore if Van Gogh’s death was murder or suicide.

Saoirse Ronan plays Marguerite Gachet, the daughter of Van Gogh’s doctor, Paul Gachet (Jerome Flynn). Marguerite and Van Gogh develop a friendship that makes Dr. Gachet worry about her being a distraction for Van Gogh and his art. Loving Vincent is a gorgeous animation that showcases the uncertainty of Van Gogh’s life and death. Even as an animated version of herself, Ronan gives the character depth. The Grand Budapest Hotel

Wes Anderson directed and wrote The Grand Budapest Hotel. It revolves around the adventures of M. Gustave (Ralph Fiennes) and Zero (Tony Revolori). The Grand Budapest Hotel has an all-star cast that includes Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, and Owen Wilson.

Saoirse Ronan plays Zero’s love interest Agatha in The Grand Budapest Hotel. The pair have a fun dynamic. Ronan also portrays Agatha as someone who is both clever and kind. The Grand Budapest Hotel is a unique, playful movie with beautiful cinematography. It’s available to buy or rent on most major streaming platforms like Amazon Prime.

How I Live Now

How I Live Now is set in an alternative universe where World War III is currently happening. An American named Daisy (Saoirse Ronan) goes to live with her English relatives. She starts to fall in love with her cousin, Edmond (George MacKay), but then their lives are thrown even further for a loop when a nuclear bomb hits. Daisy, Edmond, and her two younger cousins must try to survive in this new dangerous world.

How I Live Now is a bleak movie, but it captivates you from start to finish. This is mainly due to Saoirse Ronan’s lead role. She takes you through Daisy’s journey as a misfit teen to the only hope of survival for her and her cousins. How I Live Now includes a cast of some of the current biggest young stars. The Lovely Bones

Peter Jackson directed The Lovely Bones, a film adaptation of Alice Sebold’s bestselling novel of the same name. Saoirse Ronan stars alongside Stanley Tucci, Rachael Weisz, and Mark Wahlberg. Susie Salmon (Ronan) is murdered and her family falls apart. The Lovely Bones is told from Susie’s perspective as she lives in limbo watching her family and friends deal with the aftermath of her death.

Atonement showcases how the lives of adults can be a confusing and scary place for a child. It also shows how one lie can destroy a life. Saoirse Ronan gives Briony youthful spirit with a touch of determination and cluelessness when it comes to being an adult. There are three different actresses playing Briony in Atonement, but Ronan definitely stands out the most for her unforgettable performance in the film. Hozier’s “Chery Wine” Music Video

“Cherry Wine” is a song about a toxic relationship. It’s told from the perspective of someone who is dealing with an abusive significant other. Saoirse Ronan stars in the “Cherry Wine” video, and she plays a character abused by her male lover. The entire song and video is about domestic abuse.

Saoirse Ronan doesn’t utter one word in “Cherry Wine,” but she makes all her emotions come across in her facial expressions. Watch the Academy Awards this Sunday to see if Saoirse Ronan takes home her first Academy Award. Later this year, Ronan will reunite with Wes Anderson in The French Dispatch. She’ll also star opposite Kate Winslet in Ammonite sometime in 2020. Based on solely on Ronan’s acting prowess, we’ll guess that she may earn another Oscar nomination for her performance in one of those films.

In December 2018, news spread that Ed Sheeran would get one of the many cameos in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Considering it was the final Star Wars movie in the nine-film Skywalker Saga, it wasn't surprising to hear about nine million celebrities landing cameos. However, word spread that he'd be playing one of the stormtroopers. Thankfully, that would hide his face and be less distracting than his infamous OMG It's Ed Sheeran cameo in Game of Thrones.

But no, the official Star Wars account just shared a link to this story highlighting 7 easter eggs fans might have missed in Rise of Skywalker. Most of them were covered already, but the final one simply read "Ed Sheeran Plays This Alien Member Of The Resistance" with this photo:

Who is that dude? No idea. Do you? Every other "easter egg" cameo listed in the Disney story Star Wars linked to had a name -- from Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich playing stormtrooper FN-2802 to composer John Williams as Oma Tres, a Kijimi bartender. (Oma Tres, rearranged, spells Maestro.) There are plenty of other cameos listed, and we knew of most of them -- including Wedge Antilles, who is more than a cameo to me. It also turns out one of the droids in Babu Frik's (voiced by Shirley Henderson) workshop is an old battle droid, as seen in The Phantom Menace.

At the end of the Disney list is the Ed Sheeran easter egg, which shares no details on the character's name or backstory, simply quipping, "We’re in love with the shape of you, Ed Sheeran alien."

Did Ed Sheeran also get to play a stormtrooper -- like Daniel Craig in The Force Awakens and Tom Hardy in a deleted scene from The Last Jedi -- or did he just get to wander around set in a stormtrooper outfit with his helmet off? Star Wars shared a special look behind the scenes before Rise of Skywalker's release, and you can spot a stormtrooper Ed Sheeran at the :50 mark:

I'm not in the habit of caring this much about Ed Sheeran, but I am now mildly curious if he had two Rise of Skywalker cameos or just dressed as a stormtrooper that day for fun/to throw people off. Mark Hamill got to play more than one role in The Rise of Skywalker, but that's Mark Hamill. Maybe Sheeran's stormtrooper cameo was cut?

I would also like to know more about this alien Ed Sheeran supposedly played. The attention to detail looks impressive. If Sheeran hadn't quit Twitter after the GoT backlash, he could've done what Kevin Smith did and shared details on his Rise of Skywalker cameo. I'm glad Sheeran was with the "good guys" this time, instead of playing a singing Lannister soldier like in that distracting Game of Thrones scene. And since he got enough hate for that, it's probably good that he didn't play a stormtrooper -- or a scout trooper like the two famous actors who punched Baby Yoda on The Mandalorian and became The Most Hated People On The Internet.

Being a music star is just as much about the image as it is about the music. Some musicians cultivate an image that they're "bad boys" or otherwise difficult to work with. Others are the girl (or guy) next door.

Ed Sheeran is one of those pop stars that comes across as just a really nice guy. He seems pretty friendly and like he would be easy to get along with. However, when it came to working on Danny Boyle's new movie Yesterday, even Sheeran says that he got downright rude with the director when it came to one particular aspect of the movie. Unsurprisingly it was the music.

Newcomer Himash Patel portrays the lead character Jack Malik who becomes a superstar on the backs of the Beatles' music in Yesterday, and Ed Sheeran says that when making that music on the set, the singer insisted that Patel's performance be clean, with as little interference from the technical side of audio production as possible and that the music was all done live. According to Sheeran...

Danny Boyle tells Indiewire that making sure that the natural performance of Himesh Patel came through was his "main job" on the set of Yesterday. It seems that after Ed Sheeren insisted that the music not be interfered with, Boyle ran with the idea and made sure that Patel's vocals stayed clean. They have apparently not been altered in any way.

It makes one wonder how things might have turned out if Sheeran hadn't been cast in the film in the first place.

The director says that the reason Patel was cast in the role was because he had soul, that there was a connection between the performer and the music that others who auditioned did not have, regardless of how well they could sing. The fear was that if the music was processed too much, that soul would be lost.

Yesterday follows struggling singer/songwriter Jack Malik, who, following an accident, wakes up in a world where, somehow, the Beatles never existed. In a last ditch effort for musical success, he "writes" the Beatles music and passes it off as his own. Needless to say, the idea works, and Malik becomes an overnight sensation.

While the character of Jack Malik performs for large crowds in the movie Yesterday, the real audience of the music is the audience of the film. By keeping the music free of alternation the movie audience has the same experience hearing the music played as the in-movie audience had.

Clearly, the decision to keep the music simple worked. While Yesterday is a movie with a few issues, and one divisive scene, the music isn't one of the film's problems. The idea that the songs written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney would be hits regardless of era or performer certainly feels true having watched the movie. While the Beatles were no strangers to using technical trickery to enhance their songs, most of the numbers performed in Yesterday are much simpler, and the performances are better for it.

For whatever it's worth, the Beatles apparently liked the way the movie worked too.

Hollywood’s recent trend of showcasing the most iconic discographies of all time continues next week with Yesterday. The comedy from director Danny Boyle isn’t a biopic of the Beatles, but a fun thought experiment. What would happen is one day everyone forgot about the Fab Four? Everyone except for one struggling musician, that is.

Yesterday follows Jack Malik (played by newcomer Himesh Patel) who is the only man in the world who remembers the words to “Hey Jude”. As he starts publically playing their music, he gains the attention of a hotshot agent (played by SNL’s Kate McKinnon) and Ed Sheeran… who recommends he changes the title to “Hey Dude”.

It takes connections such as these to reach the mass popularity, so Danny Boyle always had a big name in mind to join the film-- but it wasn’t always Sheeran. At the London red carpet premiere of Yesterday on Tuesday, Boyle said this:

Oh, interesting! It actually would have made sense for Yesterday to enlist Coldplay’s Chris Martin since he fronts a four-man British popular act, just like the Beatles. However, the band had been touring their album A Head Full of Dreams until the end of 2017, and Chris Martin was not ready to sign on for another project so soon.

While Ed Sheeran jokes about not being the first pick, he’s probably the best choice of the three and could end up drawing in the most audiences at the time of release. Sheeran is the only one of them with a popular new song on the radio right now. Coldplay hasn’t technically released new music in four years and Harry Styles, in two years. Plus, Styles has a specific, younger fanbase.

Danny Boyle also went on to tell Associated Press about his experience with Sheeran on set. In his words:

The musician previously made a guest appearance on Game of Thrones during the season 7 premiere and reportedly will be a stormtrooper in Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker (but that’ll be tough to spot).

Ahead of its release, Yesterday has already been receiving praise from critics. CinemaBlend’s own Mike Reyes gave it 4 out of 5 stars in his review, calling it a “total joy”. The music-comedy hits theaters on June 28.

Among the ways the new Star Wars movies have distinguished themselves from their predecessors is by inserting celebrity cameos, even if you don't recognize these individuals. Supposedly Star Wars: Episode IX is keeping that tradition going, as a new report says that Ed Sheeran will be popping up in a galaxy far, far away.

Before any Ed Sheehan fans get too excited about seeing his face out in the open, according to The Sun, the singer/occasional actor is suiting up as a stormtrooper. Ed Sheehan has reportedly been seen at Pinewood Studios, where Star Wars: Episode IX has been shooting since August. While this information is hardly official, it certainly would fall in line with how previous celebrities have been inserted within the Star Wars universe.

In 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Daniel Craig cameoed as the stormtrooper who Rey used the Jedi mind trick on to escape Kylo Ren's custody. Composer Michael Giacchino and record producer Nigel Godrich also donned the First Order white armor in the same movie. As for 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Tom Hardy and Princes William and Harry all filmed scenes as stormtroopers, although their scenes were removed from the final cut.

Obviously there have been plenty of other types of cameos within the recent Star Wars movies, but it would definitely make sense for Ed Sheehan to put on stormtrooper armor. He's one of the world's most well-known music stars, so while plenty of folks would certainly be glad to see his face in this franchise filled with colorful aliens and laser swords, it's more amusing to hide him in plain sight as a stormtrooper, just like the top-tier actors before him.

As far as Ed Sheeran previous acting experience goes, arguably his biggest appearance was playing a Lannister solider in an episode of Game of Thrones last year. He also appeared in five episodes of Bastard Executioner, guest-starred on an episode of The Simpsons and will be one of the main actors in Danny Boyle's still-to-be-titled film next year, which also stars Lily James, Kate McKinnon and Himesh Patel, among others.

Looking to Star Wars: Episode IX as a whole, as has become the norm, Disney and Lucasfilm are keeping quiet on plot details. The main cast, on the other hand, has been fully unveiled, and along with most of the characters from The Last Jedi returning, the final entry of the Skywalker Saga is also bringing in Naomie Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell, Dominic Monaghan and Matt Smith, though none of their characters have been identified. Billy Dee Williams will also return as Lando Calrissian, more than 25 years after he co-starred in Return of the Jedi (although he did voice Lando in a few episodes of Star Wars Rebels.

Earlier this week, Ed Sheeran and Beyonce Knowles shared the stage together. Suffice to say, one of these musicians was clearly more fashionable than the other. Queen B was decked out in a gorgeous, extravagant pink gown, which flowed and extended in a variety of different ways. It was an eye-catching fashion item, which isn't something you can say about Sheeran's attire for the evening.

The singer-songwriter wore a simple T-shirt and jeans combo, and it drew a lot of criticism towards Ed Sheeran for looking like "a slob" to some in comparison to the typically fabulous Beyonce. With that, Sheeran commented on the critiques. In fact, you could say Ed Sheeran responded to the criticism directed his way in a comical fashion.

On social media, as it was reported by NME, Ed Sheeran posted a posted of the black T-shirt he wore for the performance, which says "Hoax UK Since 94." He also wrote the following in white text overtop of the shirt picture. Clearly, the musician has a sense of humor about the biting fashion critiques.

At least Ed Sheeran isn't paying too much mind to the critical comments being directed at him for his fashion choices. Though it has led the Internet to have an interesting discussion on the nature of fashion between men and women, and how women are often expected to be fashionable. Conversely men can often get the liberty to be a little more, shall we say, slack in their choices.

But that's a rich discussion for more knowledgeable people to partake... At least, more knowledgeable people than myself. As it stands, Ed Sheeran commented on the commentary accordingly; he used humor to deflect it.

There are rumors circling the Internet right now that Ed Sheeran is already married to his fiancee, Cherry Seaborn. And he wouldn't be the first, like Offset and Cardi B, who were married spontaneously and in secret inside their bedroom at least a month before they announced their official engagement, or Michelle Williams and Phil Elverum, who tied the knot away from the public eye. So it's possible that Sheeran and Seaborn are already husband and wife, and that they're just keeping the news a (not-so) secret from the musician's fanbase. While the "Perfect" singer-songwriter is playing coy when it comes to this speculation, he did discuss the type of wedding he'd like -- assuming he's not married already. During an interview promoting his new documentary Songwriter, which is focused on his life and career, Sheeran said the following.

Ed Sheeran's wedding comments came from his recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. In addition to the comment posted above, Ed Sheeran also noted that he wanted a wedding with "a good vibe," and he doesn't want to find himself stressed out by a large crowd and overwhelming stress. The musician also wanted to let fans know that he won't be singing at his own wedding. Rather, he will be employing an "unknown" for those duties. That is, of course, if there's an upcoming wedding in store. Or even an "official" wedding -- one that's for public significance more than anything else.

We're not likely to know if Ed Sheeran is secretly married or not today. So, we'll just stick to what we do know and what Sheeran is telling us ... for now. The understated wedding plans would be in sharp contradiction to his tour, which is selling out stadiums all around the world. As he puts on a spectacle for his fans, he wants this hugely emotional moment in his life to be more private and secluded, which is more-than-understandable for a musician as popular and beloved and radio-friendly as Ed Sheeran is. In some ways, you should go big. In other ways, it's best to keep things casual.

Although Ed Sheeran does keep his private life to himself, he admits that fans can capture a glimpse of his relationship with Cherry Seaborn in Songwriter, which is something the singer admittedly feels a bit "weird" about at the moment. While other documentaries centered around famous musicians like Justin Bieber: Never Say Never and Katy Perry: Part of Me explored personal aspects of the musician's lives, this doc is reportedly focused more on the process of songwriting than getting a glimpse into the life of Ed Sheeran. After all, Ed Sheeran's name isn't even on the title of the documentary, which is a clue. Whether or not that's what fans want is something they'll need to decide for themselves when (or if) they see the movie.

Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn revealed their engagement at the top of the year via Instagram. The marriage rumors began in February, but Sheeran is still playing coy with the notion. Whether or not we'll get an answer remains unclear, but we know what the "Supermarket Flowers" musician has in store if wants to get married in the near future (assuming, of course, that the wedding didn't already happen). Trying to get viewers isn't really a problem that HBO's Game of Thrones has. As such, the massively popular fantasy drama never had to result to stunt casting or celebrity cameos during its long run on the air. Actors like Diana Rigg and Jonathan Pryce have made up GoT's biggest name actors, but it turns out that a very familiar rock star nearly popped up in Westeros. Led Zeppelin lead singer and writer Robert Plant recently revealed that he was offered a role on Game of Thrones, although he turned the opportunity down.

While most people would kill for chance to interact with Westeros' finest, Robert Plant didn't seem to have much of an interest. Aside from the fact that he's not a professional actor, Plant was apparently already worried about being "type cast." This once again shows the personality and spirit that Zeppelin fans everywhere have come to love. Now the question is: what could Plant have done on Game of Thrones?

News of Robert Plant's Game of Thrones offer comes from his recent appearance on The Strombo Show. When asked if he was a fan of HBO's hit series, Plant revealed that he actually turned down a role. The music legend didn't go into details about what part it would have been, so there will no doubt be plenty of fan theories. Was he going to have a speaking role, or function as more of a Westerosi troubadour? It's anyone's guess.

While Led Zeppelin's lead singer showing up in Game of Thrones seems out of place, last season set the precedent for this type of left field cameo. Pop singer Ed Sheeran infamously appeared as a singing Lannister, providing Arya with one of her only light hearted scenes in years. But fans didn't react well to the cameo, complaining it took them out of the story. The backlash was so severe that Sheeran actually left social media for a time. Talk about a backfire.

With Robert Plant's offered role now public knowledge, one has to wonder if Game of Thrones is pulling out any surprise appearances during its upcoming eighth and final season. The season's contents have been kept under wraps, as the cast prepares to say goodbye to their roles forever. We'll just have to wait and see how long it takes for the final season to arrive, and wrap up the stories that some fans have been following for decades.

In about one of the biggest TV controversies in 2017, people are still upset about Ed Sheeran's brief appearance in the Season 7 premiere of Game Of Thrones. The backlash from fans briefly pushed the pop/folk singer off Twitter, and has caused a fervent debate amongst fans whether his presence in the episode was justified or not. Now, director of the Season 7 premiere Jeremy Podeswa is offering his thoughts regarding the backlash:

While defensive about the casting, Jeremy Podeswa tells Newsweek he understands the shock of fans given that Game Of Thrones has strayed away from "stunt casting," throughout the bulk of its run. While the show has given small roles to many singers prior to Ed Sheeran, it's safe to say the singer was the biggest real world non-acting star they've given a role to date. To that point, Podeswa doesn't understand the argument against realism as he mentions a bulk of the actors and actresses are now well known outside of the series, yet the realism is not diminished for fans in that regard.

Jeremy Podeswa continues to say that if Ed Sheeran was hurt from the fan response, he's very upset by that as he was a pleasure to have on set. Podeswa continued on to say that, in addition to being a massive fan of Game Of Thrones, Sheeran was a really grounded and down to Earth guy who just wanted to do a good job on the show. If it's any consolation for Ed Sheeran, most of the haters so far only seem to be angry with the fact he was on the show and haven't really slammed his performance or his singing. While the insults were likely hurtful, they can't be nearly as bad as some of the comments Iwan Rheon got for Ramsay Bolton or Jack Gleeson got for Joffrey!

Reactions to Ed Sheeran's cameo in Game Of Thrones were mixed, to say the least, and while some loved or didn't care the famous pop/folk singer appeared in the Season 7 premiere, some people really hated it. The abuse was enough that Sheeran deleted his Twitter account following the backlash, and now that he's back, the shocking aftermath it had may indicate just how extreme things got.

As of this writing, Ed Sheeran's Twitter account sits at 5,109 followers, and while that number is rapidly increasing by the minute, it's a far cry from the 19 million he held prior to the Season 7 premiere of Game Of Thrones. In addition to the loss of followers, every tweet Sheeran has made beyond early 2013 has been deleted from his account, so it's possible there could be more to the story. Perhaps some Stark loving fan hacked his profile for portraying a Lannister soldier and his PR had to do some damage control?

It's possible, but it's also just as likely Ed Sheeran dropped off of Twitter due to the negative response related to Game Of Thrones. Sheeran has a history of leaving Twitter when trolls turn to him, and has made remarks in the past that indicate he believes the platform is full of mean spirited people. Considering the massive crowd that tuned into the premiere, one can only assume droves of people rushed to Twitter to make a snarky remark about his appearance whether they truly meant ill will towards him or not.

In Ed Sheeran's defense, this is far from the first time Game Of Thrones has featured musical artists or groups on the series. The show has featured Sigur Ros, Of Monsters And Men, Mastadon as well as individual members of Coldplay and Snow Patrol. Granted, Sheeran's role was a bit beefier than those cameos, and his star power made him stick out like a sore thumb in Lannister gear. Still, the song he sang fit his style and was a real song from the ASOIAF book A Storm Of Swords, so it's not like his presence was completely unwarranted.

While some fans guessed "Hands Of Gold," was perhaps referencing Jaime Lannister, in the books the song is actually based on Tyrion's affair with Shae. The song was sung by Symon Silver Tongue, a minstrel who attempted to blackmail Tyrion by threatening to reveal to Cersei and Tywin Lannister of he and the prostitute's relationship. The character never made it to the series, but it's not all that important, as Tyrion ordered Bronn to kill him shortly after the threat was made and he never got a chance to tell anyone. The song, however, would stick with Tyrion during his trial and when he killed Shae. Tyrion would also make reference to the song down the road in A Dance With Dragons.

Game Of Thrones is all new July 23rd at 9 p.m. ET on HBO. Those hung up on Ed Sheeran's cameo should focus on more interesting things like the detail regarding Sansa's hair that has us worried, or how Maisie Williams felt about that crazy opening scene. James Bond movies are iconic for a wide variety of reasons. There is, of course, the international super spy, his badass cars, his cool gadgets, and his lady friends, among other elements. One of these is the opening theme of the movie. If you’re interested in such things, you can lay a wager on who will sing the signature tune for Spectre, Bond’s upcoming adventure, but according to British Bookies, there is one clear frontrunner in this race.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the odds-on favorite to share his vocal stylings with the opening of Spectre is Sam Smith. The 23-year-old British troubadour may be young, but he walked away with four Grammys earlier this year on the back of his maudlin single "Stay With Me." According to the bookies, he is a 2/5 favorite to land the coveted job. To give you pause before you plunk down your hard-earned dollars, however, Smith has denied rumors that he is involved, though the bookies don’t seem to buy his story.

Spectre director Sam Mendes, who helmed the last James Bond movie, the billion-dollar-earning Skyfall, even fanned the flames. He says the theme has already been recorded and is "fantastic," and indicated that we won’t have too long to wait to find out who landed the gig. All of this, of course, only fuels the speculation even more.

If Smith does wind up with the job, he’ll have some big shoes to fill. British singer and songwriter Adele belted out the Skyfall theme and was rewarded with an Academy Award and Golden Globe for her soulful efforts. She’s not the only notable artist to lend their pipes to the Bond franchise, either. Over the years you’ve heard Paul McCartney, Chris Cornell, Shirley Bassey, Duran Duran, and many more add their talents to the Bond pool.

Though Smith may be at the head of this pack by a wide margin, at least according to bookmakers in the U.K., he’s not the only contender. Ed Sheeran comes in at 8/1 odds. Like Smith, he has also denied being involved, but if one of them does wind up with the job, they’ll be the first British male solo singers to belt out the James Bond theme since 1965, when Tom Jones contributed the theme to Thunderball.

Running down the list, "Love Me Like You Do" singer Ellie Goulding comes in at 10/1; a repeat Adele performance sits at 12/1, which would make her only the second artist to record multiple Bond themes; Lana Del Rey at 14/1 is the highest non-Brit on the list; 18-year-old Lourde sits at 16/1, though she contributed a song to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 2, which opens shortly after Spectre and may diminish her chances; and Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher is at 25/1.

We don’t know exactly when we’ll find out how accurate the bookie’s prediction are, but we do know that we’ll see it for ourselves on the big screen when Spectre opens in the U.K. on October 26 and in the U.S. on November 6.

Cover songs can be a gift or a curse, depending on the songs and the person performing them. In the case of singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran’s recent trip to The Tonight Show, the soft-spoken Brit did a hell of a job putting his spin on both hard rock songs and a rap track. Anybody doing Limp Bizkit is better than Limp Bizkit doing it, right? Check it out.

Hot damn, that was a good time to be had by all. I mean, probably not by heavy metal fans who are solely invested in that musical preference, but still. As well, I’m certain that all actual heavy metal fans balked whenever Limp Bizkit’s name came up, because that’s about as far from heavy metal as, well, Ed Sheeran is. But still, it’s worth the mislabeling to see “Break Stuff” get played like this. Even he can't keep a straight face while doing it.

Even more enjoyable is Sheeran’s take on Iron Maiden’s 1982 hit “Run to the Hills,” as it’s an actual song and not just a series of Fred Durst’s deep musings. Plus, it gives us a chance to see the Grammy-nominated musician in this glorious greenscreen image.

If there would be any justice in the world, NBC would put a shitload of money into commissioning Ed Sheeran Sings Heavy Metal as an actual release, since an album of acoustic covers is one of the easier music-related projects to put together. Even if there were less than 25 songs on the album, that’s fine. I might not be able to sleep tonight, wondering just how Sheeran would have handled Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel songs. On the opposite side of things, I’d easily take the hardcore rap album first. Ed Sheeran adding to his Ty Dolla $ign track with covers of Rakim and Jedi Mind Tricks songs would be equally amazing.

But since that project won’t happen, we’re just left with “Break Stuff” as an earworm for the rest of the afternoon. It’s just one of those days, I guess.

I’m not sorry about that. Now, I wonder when we’re going to see Jimmy Fallon get Blake Shelton on his show to sing Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen.” We’ll just have to watch The Tonight Show every weeknight to see.

The above music video gives little screentime to Woodley or Sheeran. Instead it mostly focuses on a wall of uplifting phrases and inspirational mottos like "Everything has beauty," "If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door," and "Be the change you want to see in the world."

Based on the beloved novel by John Green, The Fault In Our Stars centers on two teens in love, but their romance faces some serious obstacles. Shailene Woodley stars as Hazel, a sixteen-year-old who has been fighting an aggressive strain of cancer for years. While reluctantly attending a support group for cancer-stricken kids, she meets the charming seventeen-year-old basketball player Augustus, played by Ansel Elgort. Together, the two learn that even lives that are cruelly short can be beautifully lived. Nat Wolff, Laura Dern, Sam Trammell, Mike Birbiglia, and Willem Dafoe co-star; Josh Boone directs.

It was a happy ending to a very sad tale that both began and ended on Twitter. Singer Ed Sheeran belted out one of his most beloved songs, but it wasn’t for thousands of people, it was for one little girl whose life was slowly ending.

After years of battling Cystic Fibrosis, a 15-year-old girl named Triona was on her last legs. She desperately wanted to get out of the hospital and make some more good memories before the end; so, her brother Colm took to Twitter in an attempt to make one of her final dreams come true. #SongForTri caught on via Twitter and, according to the LA Times, soon caught the attention of several media outlets who worked to make a seemingly impossible wish a reality. It took a little bit, but eventually The Ireland Independent managed to make contact with one of her idols,Ed Sheeran with hopes of arranging a unique final performance.

Sheeran was more than happy to oblige, but because he was not immediately made aware of the severity of the situation, he sent her well wishes and told her he would be visiting in October. After getting the prognosis, Sheeran connected with the family and played Triona’s favorite song “Little Bird” over the phone as she laid down in bed. Triona’s family says during the song, the girl slowly drifted off to sleep and passed on moments after the song's completion. Sheeran took to Twitter not long after with the following message for his lost fan.

Triona took to Twitter like most teens and used #CysticFibrosis to raise awareness for her disease. Her photo on Twitter even mentioned her illness coupled with the quote “My lungs sucked at being lungs”. May she rest in peace and hopefully her story will raise awareness to others about this disease.

Cystic Fibrosis is an illness which an abnormal amount of mucus forms in the body and affects the lungs, liver, and pancreas. Cystic Fibrosis has no cure but has made several advancements in medicine since the 1980’s to improve the quality of patients worldwide.

I’m happy to say One Direction is prepping to release another awesome pop-oriented album full of peppy tracks about (presumably) love and fun. Anyone keeping track of the band over the last several months may already know that One Direction is preparing to put out a new album, and this time around, the group hopes to put out the album around the holidays. On Monday, singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran, who has worked with One Direction in the past, says the band’s newest album is already finished.

On Monday, Sheeran spoke out to say that he has been hoarding his own songs of late and hasn’t actually contributed to the new One Direction album.

After that enlightening comment, Sheeran offhandedly mentions the guys of 1D have already finished their third full-length album. Since no word has actually come from the One Direction camp or from the group’s label, MTV is speculating that Sheeran could potentially be talking about the soundtrack for the band’s film This is Us. With a little luck, however, Sheeran is actually discussing the untitled album due out this Christmas. With even more luck, fans will get a brand new single sooner rather than later. Until then, go ahead and jam out to band’s 2012 single, “Live While We’re Young.”
