Those who fired up their Netflix subscriptions on March 1 to watch the Actor Awards were given quite the treat, from stunning red carpet fashion to lots of love for Sinners. For some, however, the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the sweet cast reunion that brought some of the stars of The Office together on stage, and apparently we’ve got Mindy Kaling to thank for that.

On Sunday night, Angela Kinsey, Ellie Kemper, Jenna Fischer and Mindy Kaling took the stage to present the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series (The Studio took the honors), and according to Actor Awards executive producer Mark Bracco, that never would have happened without Kaling. The EP told Variety:

It honestly speaks to how beloved the show is — by its fans and cast — that Mindy Kaling was able to secure the actresses in less than two hours. It’s fitting, too, that she would have the other Dunder Mifflin ladies there, too, since they were presenting an award for an ensemble.

The actors responsible for portraying Pam Beesly (Fischer), Angela Martin (Kinsey), Kelly Kapoor (Kaling) and Erin Hannon (Kemper) also used their platform to reflect on how much has changed since The Office wrapped in 2013, particularly the long seasons. They said:

• Mindy Kaling: We are women who survived 22-episode seasons.
• Angela Kinsey: There were no short orders.
• Ellie Kemper: You didn’t plan a season around a pregnancy.
• Kaling: Yeah, you just gave birth on camera and named the baby after a grip.
• Jenna Fischer: Then you came back the next week with another episode.

As grueling as the schedule was, the actresses admitted they were lucky to be employed from September to May for each season they appeared on. Their lampooning of one of the best sitcoms of all time continued:

• Fischer: It meant Christmas episodes and Valentine’s episodes and Super Bowl episodes…
• Kaling: And sometimes filler episodes that were kinda bad.

Sure, there are some episodes that didn’t have a chance at making the list of The Office’s best episodes ever, but with more than 200 episodes over nine seasons, there are bound to be a couple of clunkers. Those “filler episodes” didn’t hurt the mockumentary’s legacy, because it was still such a treat for fans to be able to see this reunion. So, our thanks goes out to Mindy Kaling.

Not only is The Office one of the best sitcoms of all time, the cast is full of the sweetest actors who are constantly supporting each other as they live life after Dunder Mifflin. Most recently, Steve Carell went out of his way to check out Jenna Fischer’s Chicago play, Ashland Avenue. And, the way the actress best known for playing Pam Beesly shared the adorable moment involved a The Office reference, of course.

As you may recall, in Season 3 of The Office, Pam invites her coworkers to her first art show. It makes for a sweet moment in the series when Michael shows up for her and even buys one of her paintings that depicts their workplace. Michael tells her he’s “really proud” of her artwork, and she ends up giving him an emotional hug. As Fischer wrote in the post:

Steve Carell attended the show with his wife, Nancy Walls, who also played Carol Stills on The Office. How adorable it is to see these co-stars back together as Fischer ends her run in the critically acclaimed play that has been playing in Goodman’s Albert Theatre.

Of course, fans were reminiscing about the art show scene in The Office in the comments, talking about how great the episode is and quoting “Do you have something in your pocket?” Some of her other The Office castmates also commented:

After Steve Carell was in The Four Seasons earlier this year, he is currently working on an untitled new HBO comedy from Scrubs and Ted Lasso creator Bill Lawrence and The Goldbergs’ Matt Tarses. In between his busy schedule, it’s really nostalgic to see him and Fischer back together and all smiles.

Fischer has had one of the most popular podcasts hosted by Hollywood stars with The Office Ladies, which she does with her best friend and The Office co-star Angela Kinsey. As Fischer revealed this time last year, she had a battle with Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer last year that luckily left her feeling great even after undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.

It’s pretty inspiring (and hopeful) that Jenna Fischer is back in full swing at work, doing a stage play nightly after having some serious medical treatments the year prior. There’s a lot to celebrate here, and we can’t wait to see The Office cast continue to support each other in their future endeavors.

The Office’s millions-strong fandom has much to celebrate this year, with Greg Daniels’ upcoming newspaper-set spinoff hitting the 2025 TV schedule in September. (An event momentous enough for Chili’s to resurrect its Scranton location.) Given the setting changes, viewers likely won’t get major updates on familiar characters, but former star Ellie Kemper herself shared her current thoughts about Dunder-Mifflin’s on-again, off-again coupling of Erin and Andy, and I’m firmly inclined to side with her on this one.

Kemper shared some candid thoughts in the past about not being a huge fan of Erin and Andy as a couple, and when asked to hypothesize about their current status in an interview with People, the actress initially voiced an olive branch for Ed Helms’ kooky character before largely backtracking in favor of Erin’s happiness. Here’s how she put it:

For the briefest of seconds, any and all Erin/Andy shippers were in grasping distance of a victory that remained elusive as The Office closed out with its ninth season. And I suppose if anyone’s electricity cut out in the middle of reading that quote, that person could very well go forward in life with the idea that Kemper thinks Erin and Andy would find a way to permanently patch things up.

But such is not the case, and I’m not exactly mad about it. Despite Erin and Andy easily being two of the best characters from The Office, judged as separate entities, I wasn’t ever really a huge fan of their romantic entanglements, largely due to Andy’s relationship behavior somehow being more cartoonish than Jim’s and Dwight’s put together. Sure, he often had others’ best interests in mind, but he kind of sucked at showcasing them.

Meanwhile, Erin often represented youthful innocence, and I like to imagine that she ended up with her most ideal significant other after the show wrapped, perhaps someone who watched the in-universe documentary and fell head over heels for her.

As far as Erin’s current whereabouts, Ellie Kemper surmised that Erin probably put Dunder-Mifflin in her rear-view mirror, and is hopefully enjoying the life of an employee who has moved up in the ranks. As she put it:

How awesome would it be, though, if the new Office spinoff The Paper does actually feature a cameo or two from the U.S. mothership? (Not that I’d balk at seeing Ricky Gervais’ David Brent or someone else from the OG UK comedy popping up.) I don’t know that updating fans on Erin and Andy’s status would be the main concern, but it definitely would be if Ed Helms is the one making the cameo.

Fans can revisit any relationship foible they want throughout The Office’s nine seasons with a Peacock subscription while awaiting an exact premiere date for The Paper on NBC.

At this point, The Office is basically guaranteed to go down in history as not only one of the best sitcoms of all time, but also as one of the comedies that people love to rewatch and as a series that made a number of actors famous because of their roles on the nine-season hit.

Speaking of which, many of the actors we know and love from the ever-popular mockumentary about the (frequently wacky) employees at the Scranton branch of the Dunder Mifflin paper company have starred (or popped up memorably) in a number of other movies and shows both before, during and after their time on the NBC classic. So let’s take a look at what else you can watch the cast of The Office in!

Foxcatcher

Even though Steve Carell was known as a comedic actor before he led The Office cast as the sometimes good at his job Michael Scott, it was definitely his role on the comedy that propelled him to new heights and led to opportunities for him to branch out. One such case of that was his creepy starring turn in the drama Foxcatcher, an acclaimed biographical sports thriller that saw him nominated for a Best Actor Oscar in 2015.

Inside Out

It seems that 2015 was a good year for The Office cast, as this was when the Pixar mega-hit Inside Out was released, starring the voice of Phyllis Smith as Sadness. The animated film, of course, followed the personified emotions of a young girl going through a tough time, and was popular enough to get a sequel in 2024.

Away We Go

Of all The Office characters, it’s possible that John Krasinski’s Jim Halpert is the most beloved, and the actor rode that wave into 2009’s romantic road trip film Away We Go. The comedy-drama is about a couple in their early 30s trying to decide where to settle before the birth of their first child, and really should be sought out if you haven’t seen it yet.

Blades Of Glory

I know what you’re thinking, What about Pam? Well, Jenna Fischer’s Pam Beesly Halpert was, many think, the heart of the sitcom, and the actress became the heart of the ice-skating comedy Blades of Glory in 2007.

The Mindy Project

While Kelly Kapoor is one of the most memorably ridiculous staffers at Dunder Mifflin, the same can’t (totally) be said for Mindy Kaling’s OB/GYN, Mindy Lahiri, in The Mindy Project. The doctor may be analytical, friendly and good at her job, but she’s also blunt and shallow, making her fun to watch.

Bridesmaids

Because of the number of hilarious performances from the ensemble cast of the one-liner-filled comedy, Bridesmaids, you might have forgotten that Ellie Kemper (that’s receptionist Erin Hannon to you) starred in the somewhat raunchy 2011 hit as Becca, a newlywed member of the bridal party who loses some of her naivete because of the antics of the assembled group.

Parks And Recreation

Did you forget about Karen Filippelli? You know, Jim’s girlfriend who quickly realized that he was in love with Pam once they were all working together? Well, Rashida Jones was a much bigger part of Parks and Recreation, where her nurse, Anne Perkins, was a (mostly) reasonable member of the wacky ensemble.

Super

There probably aren’t a lot of us who watched the NBC workplace sitcom and envisioned any of the characters as superheroes, which is part of the point to Dwight Schrute actor Rainn Wilson taking on his reading role in Super. The dark comedy follows a short order cook who becomes a masked vigilante, and should be experienced at least once.

The Hangover

A hit comedy you’ve almost definitely seen at least once is 2009’s The Hangover, starring Ed Helms, a.k.a. Andy Bernard. Actually, no one would be surprised if you’ve seen this movie plus its two sequels multiple times.

This Is The End

Apocalyptic horror comedies don’t come around all that often, and when they do they’re rarely as insane as This Is The End. The 2013 film stars a number of notable famous folks playing versions of themselves who try to survive the Biblical event, including Darryl Philbin’s portrayer, Craig Robinson.

Leatherheads

John Krasinski also lent his talents to the George Clooney-directed, 1925-set football comedy, Leatherheads. It might not have been a big hit, but it definitely let fans see more of Krasinski’s big-screen potential early on.

Fresh Off The Boat

It hasn’t been uncommon for some of the cast to pop up on other popular shows, and that’s what we saw with Angela Kinsey (yup, she played Dwight’s eventual boo Angela) when it came to the ABC family comedy Fresh Off the Boat. Kinsey guest starred in a handful of episodes across Seasons 4 and 5 as Amy Chestnut, a nemesis for Jessica Huang.

The Lost City

It’s a bit of a wonder that Oscar managed to continue working at Dunder Mifflin Scranton, considering how professional and free of foolishness he was. But, his portrayer, Oscar Nuñez, did play an important oddball in 2022’s The Lost City, and to hilarious effect.

The Morning Show

Steve Carell continued to take on more dramatic roles after leaving The Office behind, and he kept his streak going by playing the disgraced former co-host for the first two seasons of the titular show that’s the focus of this Apple TV+ series.

The Giant Mechanical Man

While none of our beloved Office cast members have led what will come to be known as one of the best romantic comedies of all time just yet, Jenna Fischer did star in a lovely little rom-com called The Giant Mechanical Man, where she plays a struggling zoo worker who falls for a financially strapped street performer.

Family Switch

Sometimes you just need a good, fun family movie, and Ed Helms helped give us one with Family Switch. The movie, which you can watch with your Netflix subscription, gets its Freaky Friday on by having two parents (and the family dog) swap bodies with their two teens (and the baby of the family).

Galaxy Quest

Unfortunately, sci-fi and comedy simply don’t overlap that much, because when they do we end up with wondrous movies like Galaxy Quest. This now classic features Rainn Wilson as one of the decent, octopus-like Thermians, who juuuuust manage to pose as human.

Gone Baby Gone

Though she’d been a working actor for many years, most people really got to know about Amy Ryan because of her Oscar-nominated role in 2007’s Gone Baby Gone as the mother of a missing girl; a role that was quite different from her sweet Holly Flax.

The Bold Type

It’s a bad idea to get involved with your boss; that is, if your boss is like the domineering Jan Levinson, as played by Melora Hardin. However, if your boss is tough but fair and an all-around good human like The Bold Type’s Jacqueline Carlyle, then maybe things won’t go as badly for you as they did for Michael.

Silicon Valley

While Zach Woods brought even more weirdness to The Office as Gabe Woods for Seasons 6-9, he was more of a secure and stabilizing presence for the tech team on HBO’s comedy, Silicon Valley.

Ocean’s Eight

The Mindy Project hasn’t been the only way to watch Mindy Kaling outside of Scranton. In 2018 she branched out by starring as jeweler Amita in the crime comedy Ocean’s Eight, as one of the so-named group with a plan for a big jewelry heist.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Naive, nice and endlessly hopeful seems to be a specialty of Ellie Kemper. She added another such character to the one from Bridesmaids and The Office when she took on the role of former underground (literally) doomsday cult member Kimmy Schmidt as she attempted to make a life for herself in New York City after being rescued. You can watch her in all four seasons and one interactive movie on one of the best streaming services, Netflix.

The Blacklist

Anyone who enjoyed James Spader as the intimidating and mysterious Robert California, odd though he was, would probably have no problem seeing the actor as, well…mysterious, intimidating and charming criminal mastermind/FBI informant/probable sociopath, Raymond “Red” Reddington for 10 seasons of the NBC drama, The Blacklist, which wrapped its long run in 2023.

The Wire

The Wire is an amazing drama that is one of the TV shows that actually ended well, and it also made Idris Elba a household name because of his long-running role as smooth criminal Stringer Bell. Were it not for this series, we might not have gotten him as Michael’s strict (and eventually antagonistic) boss who had quite an effect on the ladies, Charles Miner. FYI, you can also see Amy Ryan in this show, beginning in Season 2.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

Few fans of our favorite mockumentary could have guessed that there would be a time when superhero fans around the world would call for John Krasinski (he of the flippy Jim haircut and consistent bemused looks to the camera) to portray Marvel icon Mister Fantastic, a.k.a. Reed Richards. Well, Disney finally gave them their wish in a wildly short-lived fashion when he appeared as a version of the Fantastic Four leader in 2022’s multiverse-hopping Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.

Six Feet Under

Yet another 2000s HBO drama has delivered another way to see someone from The Office. One of the rare family shows that’s about death in a real way, Six Feet Under helped Rainn Wilson show the world a happier, though still incredibly peculiar, character in mortuary intern Arthur Martin during Season 3.

Hot Tub Time Machine

One of the stranger time travel movies in recent memory can easily be said to be Hot Tub Time Machine, where our time travelers do, indeed, trip through time via an energy drink-powered hot tub. In both this classic comedy and its sequel, you can watch Craig Robinson experience the many benefits and dangers of time travel.

The Daily Show

A number of correspondents have passed by the news desk on Comedy Central’s politically aware pop culture program, The Daily Show. From 2002-2006, Ed Helms lent his talents to segments like Digital Watch, We Love Showbiz and This Week in God. The added bonus for you? This series launched Steve Carell’s early career, as he was also a correspondent from 1999 through 2005, and has returned several times since then as a guest.

Inglourious Basterds

We’ve already come upon some surprising portrayals from our wild and wacky Office workers, and fans were treated to another one with the release of Quentin Tarantino’s Academy Award-nominated Inglourious Basterds in 2009. While B.J. Novak’s Smithson "Little Man" Utivich was simply a loyal soldier and accomplished smart-alek, the environment he thrived in was much more stressful than anything Ryan could have survived.

Upload

Remember that dutiful movie and TV viewers can easily spot one of the Scranton denizens as they pop up in any number of other well-known projects. However, when Creed Bratton (yes, that Creed) appeared in a Season 1 episode of Amazon Prime’s Upload, he probably delivered the briefest, most hilariously gruesome guest star spot of them all.

Doctor Who

If there’s any one show in the history of TV shows that continues to provide us with a near-endless stream of cameos and guest starring roles from up-and-comers, it would be Doctor Who and its 60-year, 40-season history. And, we can actually watch a whole season (the fourth modern one) plus six specials of Catherine Tate (Nellie Bertram, Seasons 7-9) as The Doctor’s companion, Donna Noble.

The White Lotus

Last but not least, we take you to The White Lotus. This Emmy-winning HBO (Should we all just stick with HBO if we want to see our Office mates?) satire has already given us innumerable memorable characters and performances, and Season 1 saw Jake Lacy (who played Pete “New Jim” Miller in Season 9) take on the role of the easily unlikable, arrogant rich guy Shane Patton.

As you can see, The Office cast has thrived outside of the comedy that made so many of them famous!

The Bridesmaids cast is so stacked with comedy legends including Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Melissa McCarthy, and the Oscar-nominated script is so good that a vast majority of it is quotable. Ever since its release in 2011, people have been laughing over the amazing one-liners from this comedy about a woman who is trying her darndest to be a good maid of honor. Now, it’s time to go over some of the best quotes from this seriously iconic comedy from Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo. 

Help me, I’m poor. -Annie 

The second time Annie infiltrates the first-class cabin, she is promptly approached by the flight attendant, and she tries to claim she’s not her, in fact, she’s actually meant to be in the seat she stole. However, the attendant isn’t buying it, and when he tries to get her out again, one of her last resorts to get into first class is to say “Help me, I’m poor,” in the funniest little voice. 

I'm not going to say I survived, I'm going to say I thrived. -Megan 

After we meet Megan and find out she’s recovering from falling off a cruise ship, she reassures Annie and the audience by saying she “survived.” Then she doubles down, saying that while she “hit a lot of railings” and a dolphin saved her through a telepathic connection she’s thriving. 

It's just... it's the first time I've ever seen you look ugly. And that makes me kind of happy. -Annie 

As Annie and Helen look for Lillian, they have the sweetest moment they’ve ever had, despite the fact that it’s over Kristen Wiig’s character hilariously insulting Rose Byrne’s character by saying she looks ugly. 

I look ugly? No I don't. I don't really look ugly. -Helen 

In direct response to Annie telling her she’s an ugly crier, Helen immediately tries to stop the tears and deny the claim. It’s very on-brand for Helen, and now that she and Annie are on OK terms, it makes this moment super funny. 

Do you want to tell a cop about it? We're just like priests except we would tell everybody afterwards. -Rhodes 

After a rough night, Annie runs into Rhodes at a gas station, and he uses this charmingly odd line to ask if she wants to talk about what’s been going on in her life, and it works!

I’m ready to party! -Annie 

Drunk, and feeling way better than she did a mere second before, Annie infiltrates first class to see Lillian and Helen. She’s relaxed, excited, and “ready to party!” And I think it’s safe to say this one-liner is one of the most iconic from Bridesmaids as it kicks off one of the funniest scenes in the movie. 

You're more beautiful than Cinderella. You smell like pine needles, and you have a face like sunshine. -Becca 

While incredibly drunk, Becca is trying to comfort Rita as they lament about their marriages. When Rita gets self-conscious, Ellie Kemper’s character retorts back with the silliest compliment that sounds like an inside joke from Parks and Recreation considering the way Leslie compliments Ann. 

Why can't you be happy for me and then go home and talk about me behind my back like a normal person? -Lillian 

After a disastrous party, Lillian confronts Annie over her behavior. Wiig’s character can’t stand that her best friend is hanging out with Helen, and her actions that arise out of those emotions are what cause Maya Rudolph’s passionate reaction. 

It's not a missing person until it's at least 24 hours. Have you ever seen CSI? Twenty-four hours. Let me get on with my job, Annie. -Rhodes 

Lillian had been MIA for 12 hours, and Annie and Helen got very nervous. So, they found Rhodes and did everything they could to get him to pull them over. Once they finally got him to acknowledge them, the cop firmly explained, using a fantastic pop culture reference to prove his point, that they can’t file a missing person report until it’s been 24 hours.

I have to go to the bathroom but I heard about a woman who went to the bathroom on the plane - she got sucked into the toilet. Sucked right in. -Nervous Woman on the Plane

Upping Annie’s plane anxiety, and making everything 100% worse is the hilarious nervous flyer sitting next to her. Played by the co-writer of Bridesmaids and Wiig’s hilarious Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar, Annie Mumolo, this cameo is chaotically wonderful, it helps escalate the plane sequence, and it’s a great line about plane suspicions that I think many have pondered at one point or another. 

Lillian and I took Spanish together in school. And so, I would just like to say to you and to everyone here, "Gracias para vivar en la casa, en la escuelas, en... en la azul... "marcada". Tienes con "bibir" en las Fortuashla?" and gracias! -Annie 

Attempting to one-up Helen’s speech, Annie takes the stage. After they go back and forth for a while, and Helen speaks in French to Lillian, Annie recites what she learned in high school Spanish in an attempt to best her. However, it’s just a bunch of gibberish as she strings words like house, school, and blue together while trying to remember her Spanish vocabulary. 

We would like to invite you to no longer live with us. -Brynn 

Before we knew Rebel Wilson for her movies like Pitch Perfect and Senior Year, she had a small role in Bridesmaids playing Annie’s housemate. While she wasn’t the one paying rent, she was the one to ask Wiig’s character to move out. 

I wouldn't want to make you explain what our relationship is to all those people. That would suck for you. -Ted 

Kristen Wiig’s Annie is in an on-again, off-again relationship…sort of…with Jon Hamm’s Ted. When she asks if he wants to go to Lillian’s wedding with her, he has the worst but also hilarious response. 

I took nine. I took nine. Yeah. I did slightly overcommit to the whole dog thing. It turns out I'm probably more comfortable with six. -Megan

Listen, Megan couldn’t get enough of the puppies, and she had to take them all home with her. However, as she said, nine might have been too many.

'Stove' what kind of a name is that? -Annie 

As Annie finally leaves first class, she confronts the flight attendant, named Steve, and she calls him Stove. She then promptly explains that that is not a good name, which leads to Steve correcting her, and her asking him if he’s an appliance, to which he hilariously responds “No I’m a man, and my name is Steve.” 

Hello, Helen. I've heard... wonderful things. -Rhodes 

Putting on a fake smile for a myriad of reasons, Rhodes realizes that the Helen he’s just been introduced to is the one who has been at the center of Annie’s issues for the whole movie. So, he sarcastically says the line above, and let me tell you, it’s pitch-perfect delivery. 

It's a good tub. I slept there for my 30th birthday. -Annie 

Lillian was freaking out about getting married, and she was specifically upset about leaving her apartment. So, while comforting her friend and listening as she listed off all the things she would miss, Annie chimed in when the bathtub was mentioned, reciting the fantastic line above. 

You're like the maid of dishonor. -Rhodes

Considering how poorly most of the events for Lillian’s wedding went, I can’t say this comment from Rhodes is wrong about Annie. 

This is such a stone-cold pack of weirdos, and I am so proud! -Lillian

Before things get gross in the bridal shop, the ladies have what they think is a nice lunch. Lillian shows her love for all of them by toasting her bridesmaids and saying they’re “a stone-cold pack of weirdos.” 

No one can get anywhere in 3 seconds. You're setting me up for a loss already. -Annie 

On his last nerve, the flight attendant tells Annie she needs to book it out of first, and she makes it very clear to him that the expectation he’s set is impossible to meet. 

This is kind of high-octane stuff that really made me want to become a cop. Missing girl found at her apartment. It's adrenaline-pinching. -Rhodes

Somehow delivering the line with both sarcasm and sincerity, Rhodes reacts to the news that Lillian is simply just in her apartment brilliantly. After low-key being tormented by Annie as she tried to get his attention, once they found Lillian, he had every right to be annoyed, but we got this sweet yet dry line instead. It’s perfect. 

I fell off a cruise ship, but I'm back. -Megan 

Bridesmaids is easily one of Melissa McCarthy’s best movies, and she proved that from the jump by having one of her first lines be about her trip that involved falling off a cruise ship.

Excuse me, um, could I have a glass of alcohol when you get a chance? -Becca 

While on the plane, Becca, a very wholesome gal, is having a conversation with Rita about her marriage and love life. In the middle of that conversation, a flight attendant comes by asking if they want a drink, and not really knowing what alcoholic beverage to order, Ellie Kemper’s character just says she’ll take “a glass of alcohol.”

I’m glad he’s single, ‘cause I’m gonna climb that like a tree. -Megan 

After asking the guy standing next to Annie if he’s her fella, Megan is told that the man is not with Annie, and quickly after that, Melissa McCarthy’s character is relieved because she wants him.

As a mom of boys, Rita is very clear that while they’re cute when they’re babies, they are gross as they get older. After this line, she continues to go on and on, and it’s safe to say that she’s over living with them.

At Annie’s job, she gets into quite a verbal battle with a teen. While the kid is just as vicious, Annie is the one who gets in trouble for saying things like this funny and lethal line above, and ultimately she gets fired. 

I’m telling you, hitting bottom is a good thing. Because there’s nowhere to go but up. -Annie’s Mom

By reciting a lesson she learned at AA, which she’s not an alcoholic, Annie’s mom tries to give her daughter advice by saying that being at rock bottom only gives her room to grow. 

That dress is so pretty, it makes my stomach hurt. -Megan

Arguably, one of the reasons Bridesmaids earns its hard R-rating is the wedding dress store scene that devolves into the infamous bathroom moment, and it all begins when the girls realize they have stomach aches, and Megan says this funny line. 

Hold on for one more day. -Wilson Phillips

With one more hysterical surprise up her sleeve, Helen brings Wilson Phillips out to sing “One More Day” after Lillian and Dougie say I do. Meanwhile, Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, who proved their physical comedy skills as part of SNL’s best casts, hilariously emphasized their comedy genius again by ending the movie lip-syncing during the performance, and it’s impossible to not walk out of this movie humming the tune. 

This should be open ‘cause it’s called civil rights. This is the ‘90s. -Annie

The first time Annie leaves first class, she opens the curtain separating those seats from the economy seats. As she’s heading back she also memorably tells the flight attendant why the classes of the plane shouldn’t be separated by claiming it’s an issue of civil rights that shouldn’t happen because it’s “the ‘90s,” which it isn’t, this movie came out in 2011, making the line even funnier.

As they’re enjoying lunch, Helen isn’t eating meat because she doesn't want to bloat. However, for Melissa McCarthy’s character, that’s not an issue, and the way she lets everyone know is fantastic. 

Don’t you dare laugh. -Lillian

The second Lillian walks out in her wedding dress, looking defeated, she tells Annie she’s not allowed to laugh at the giant poof of a gown. However, Kristen Wiig’s character can’t hold it in, and neither can Maya Rudolph’s and they both end up cracking up, even though she said not to. 

While Bridesmaids terrified director Paul Feig, because a comedy like it really hadn’t been made before, the film proved to be a classic. To this day, many of these amazing quotes are still talked about, and it’s impossible not to laugh at them. 

Here is something crazy to think about — The Office has been off TV (new episodes anyway) longer than it was on. Hard to believe, right? Well, time works that way sometimes. But despite saying goodbyes to Dunder Mifflin nearly a decade ago, the members of the show’s large ensemble cast remain as close as ever, and aren’t shy about sharing the admiration of their former co-stars with their millions of social media followers.

The St. Louis Blues and The Boston Bruins met in the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals, a hard-fought series that ultimately ended with St. Louis winning its first NHL championship in the franchise's history. But while there was a lot of great action going on in the rink, longtime fans of The Office couldn't help but get wrapped up in the lighthearted feud between former co-stars John Krasinski (big time Bostonite) and Jenna Fischer (right up there with Jon Hamm in her St. Louis fandom) who went back and forth throughout the series.

That all reached a tipping point in the decisive Game 7 in Boston which John Krasinski attended with David Denman, who played Roy Anderson all those years ago. Everything about the 40-second video posted to Krasinski's Twitter is amazing from his cheeky comments to the reveal of Denman and his deadpan remarks to Fischer. But the joke's on them because Fischer was the one celebrating by the end of the night.

Angela and Kevin are two characters from The Office who spent a considerable amount of time together (being accountants and all that), and so you would think the actors who brought them to life would be tired of one another by now. However, that’s far from the case for Angela Kinsey and Brian Baumgartner, who still enjoy each other’s company, even if it’s for a (non-alcoholic) beer.

In April 2019, Angela Kinsey shared a picture alongside her former co-star to her Instagram account in honor of “Bring Your Beer To Work Day,” which was sponsored by Heineken as a way to promote it’s then-new non-alcoholic option. And I must say, they looked very happy doing so.

BJ Novak Snaps A Selfie With Mindy Kaling

There are a lot of great Ryan Howard-centric episodes of The Office, and a large chunk of those involve his on-again, off-again relationship with Kelly Kapoor. But there are just as many, if not more, social posts by BJ Novak and Mindy Kaling since their characters' swirling romance ended. There are so many times the two have appeared together on their respective social media accounts that it’s hard to count, so we’ll just focus on one of the more recent reunions.

The Office Cast Attends A Virtual Wedding

Those early days of the COVID-19 pandemic weren’t all that much fun for anyone, but there were a few bright spots to help us all get through quarantining, including John Krasinski’s YouTube show Some Good News. The wholesome talk show launched in March 2020 and welcomed millions of viewers into the Jack Ryan star’s world, offering them some much-needed positivity.

The two got together for some fun when Kinsey’s husband was busy with his fantasy football draft, and by the way the night sounds, it was one hell of a time.

Leslie David Baker, the actor behind the dry and sarcastic Stanley Hudson at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton office, is supportive of his former The Office co-stars, especially when they are on one of the biggest dancing competitions on TV.

The Office Cast Reunites For BJ Novak’s Birthday

The former cast of The Office knows a thing or two about throwing birthday parties (It Is Your Birthday.), and so it should come as no surprise that a few of the actors got together to celebrate BJ Novak making another trip around the sun a few years ago.

In July 2019, BJ Novak shared a handful of photos on his Instagram from the big party, which showed the likes of Mindy Kaling, Jenna Fischer, and Angela Kinsey hanging out with other celebrities like Nathan Field and the late Bob Saget.

The St. Louis Cardinals made some for local celebrities, including Ellie Kemper. However, when it came time to send them out, Jenna Fischer received it instead.

When watching the Home Alone movies, we tend to cheer for the kid who is on the offensive and pranking his invaders, but many of us would be lying if we didn’t admit we sometimes feel bad for the bandit characters as they slip down steps, dodge foam blaster bullets and get knocked around. In the latest installment, Home Sweet Home Alone, Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney play a married couple who become desperate to grab a priceless item in the home of Archie Yates’ Max just as he finds himself unsupervised. The actors' experiences in the roles proved to be quite physical. 

When CinemaBlend spoke to Rob Delaney and Ellie Kemper about Home Sweet Home Alone, they shared that a lot of the stunts you see in the movie, now streaming on Disney+, they really achieved themselves. Kemper said this: 

If you’ve seen Home Sweet Home Alone, it’s quite obvious how demanding it must have been for the pair because Archie Yates’ Max really doesn’t hold back in defending himself. Rob Delaney, who famously starred in Amazon’s Catastrophe and as Peter in 2018’s Deadpool 2, expanded on the stunt aspect of the role: 

Although their stunts were painful and difficult, they luckily had the time and budget to really practice and get them right without injuries. The actors shared the stunts they are most proud of, which they didn’t necessarily agree on. In Delaney’s words: 

Ellie Kemper, who memorably has worked with some of the funniest people of our time between her roles in Bridesmaids, The Office and Tina Fey’s The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, jumped off Delaney’s words. As she shared: 

So it’s between the pool scene and the slippery ice scene for the comedic pair. They’re both solid scenes and it’s kind of insane to think that it’s really them (most of the time) falling into water and slipping on ice during the film. While we’re watching the movie, we’re thinking about the story and what it means for the characters, but on set Rob Delaney and Ellie Kemper we’re attempting some really difficult stunts they had to take time to train for.

Currently, she’s starring in Home Sweet Home Alone, a Disney+ original movie, but now, we’re going to take a look back on some of her best work, and how you can watch it. These are some of the best Ellie Kemper movies and TV shows that are streaming right now. 

The Office (2009 - 2013)

Arguably, The Office is how a lot of people found out about Ellie Kemper. This iconic sitcom is about the lives of the workers at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, and how they constantly have to deal with their leader, Michael Scott, who can be a good boss at times - but is mostly just a mess. 

Ellie Kemper played Erin, a recurring character at first, who replaced Pam when she stopped working as Dunder Mifflin’s secretary, but overtime her character became much more important and she graduated to being a main cast member. While I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Pam as the secretary, I must say that there’s something wholesome about Erin that I really enjoy. The poor girl was so new at her job that she was constantly getting crapped on by Michael, but she learned how to be the best secretary. You gotta admire her perseverance - despite being a little kooky.

Bridesmaids (2011)

Bridesmaids follows Annie, a young woman who suffers a series of misfortunes when she is is asked to serve as the maid of honor at her best friends' wedding, causing a ridiculous amount of chaos. 

Kemper plays naïve newlywed Becca, one of the several hilarious bridesmaids in the Bridesmaids cast, but honestly, this entire ensemble is just *chef’s kiss.* 

Here, Kemper really shows just how perfect her comedic timing is. Her line on the plane when she says "Excuse me, um, could I have a glass of alcohol when you get the chance?" is so adorable and hilarious it gets me every time. Sweet, reserved Becca. Kemper and everyone here created one of the funniest comedies yet.

Sofia The First (2013-2018)

Sofia the First is a fun children’s TV show about a young girl named Sofia, who was living in a village as a young girl until her mother fell in love with the king, and now, she has become a princess overnight. It’s up to her to figure out how to do it right and become the best princess. 

Ellie Kemper voiced Crackle, one of the many side characters of Sofia the First, and she's the perfect fit. Crackle is loud and outgoing and loves to make friends, and that's exactly what I think of when Kemper comes to mind. 

This is honestly a great show. The voice acting, including Kemper’s, is great, and the stories remind me of those classic Disney princesses. As someone who is a fan of Disney, I can say that they created an entertaining show not only for kids, but for adults as well. While Sofia will never be a part of the official Disney princess line-up, she gets an honorary pass from me.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015 - 2020)

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a Netflix original series about the titular character, who has to suddenly learn how to be a grownup overnight after being stuck in a bunker for more than a decade, thanks to a deranged priest. 

Ya’ll, Kemper rocks this role. I remember when I first began watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, I felt like I was going to hate it because I wouldn’t like how positive Kimmy was being about the world, but after the first couple of episodes, I was hooked. 

Ellie Kemper brings out this bubbliness in Kimmy, after the horrible ordeal she went through, that makes her so likable. The rest of the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt cast is wonderful too, creating some hilarious moments. The interactive special that they did was also a lot of fun, and even had stars like Daniel Radcliffe involved with it - truly, such a great comedy that deserved all the praise it got.

Get Him To The Greek (2010)

Moving on, we have the comedy, Get Him to the Greek, starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. Here, Aaron, an intern from a record company, is hired to get a crazy, out of control British rockstar to a concert at L.A’s Greek Theater, hence “the Greek” in the title. 

Kemper plays one of the Aaron’s co-worker’s in the movie, and while her role is smaller than some of her others, there's just something so brilliant about her. She plays the complete opposite of many of her bubbly, happy roles. Kemper's a more reserved, collected type who's just trying to keep her job, and it really shows her range. 

Plus, the whole cast is full of stars. With Big Mouth co-creator Nick Kroll, The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss, and rap legend P. Diddy - there’s truly no end to this star-studded cast.

21 Jump Street (2012)

In the buddy cop movie 21 Jump Street, starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, we follow two cops named Schmidt and Jenko, who are forced to relive their high school days and go undercover as students when an outbreak of a new synthetic drug seems to be coming directly from the kids. Now, it’s up to them to figure out who it is. 

Ellie Kemper plays Ms. Griggs, a teacher who has a sexual interest towards Jenko, Channing Tatum’s character - I mean, I don’t blame her, who wouldn’t? Jokes aside, I think this is one of Kemper's best roles because it again shows her range. I never look at her and think she'd be a teacher attracted to a student, but her character in 21 Jump Street makes me believe that.

You wouldn’t expect Hill and Tatum to have such great chemistry, but they take the buddy cop genre to new heights with hilariously dark comedy, funny bits, and a lot of intense action. Plus, Ice Cube as their captain is the funniest and best casting I’ve ever seen.

Laggies (2014)

Next up, we have Laggies, a romantic comedy starring Keira Knightley, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Sam Rockwell. Knightley’s character, Megan, buys teenagers beer, and is drawn into their much more simple life. She ends up moving in with young Annika and her father, trying to help the teen with life, and juggle being an adult with romantic interests, and the feeling that she’s always lagging behind. 

Kemper plays Allison, Megan’s childhood friend, and I absolutely adore their scenes. Their friendship just feels so real and you can really tell that Allison cares for Megan and everything she has gone through, and only wants the best for her. 

To me, Laggies has always been underrated as a romantic comedy, as it has a certain charm to it that I can get behind.

They Came Together (2014)

I bet you didn’t think you’d see a satirical romantic comedy on this list, but here we are. They Came Together, starring Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd, is about their two characters, who own different types of candy stores, one a small shop and the other a gigantic company. When the company threatens to shut down the small shop, their love story begins in this rom-com spoof. 

This film deserved so much more attention. Ellie Kemper stars as Karen, one of the many main characters in this ensemble film. And, her scenes with Bill Hader are stellar. I love their comedic timing together, and I find myself laughing every time I watch this movie. 

They Came Together brings those classic romantic comedy tropes to create a hilarious spoof, but at the same time, still produces a heartwarming tale about love, as ridiculous as the movie can be.

The Secret Life Of Pets Series (2016 - 2019)

Illumination hit the jackpot with this fun animated movie series. The Secret Life of Pets is exactly what the title suggests. When the humans step away, what do people’s pets do? They have a fun time; that’s exactly what they do. 

Ellie Kemper plays Katie, one of the predominantly featured human characters in The Secret Life of Pets series. To be honest, I want to hear Kemper in way more voice roles, because she truly does let her personality shine through in this movie. While we're all focused on the dogs and cats, Katie is the one human where we actually do grow attached to her, because you can see how much she cares for and loves her animals. 

Her co-stars are hilarious, with the likes of Kevin Hart, Jenny Slate, and more offering their voice talents, and the animation is seriously good. I mean, who doesn’t want to watch talking dogs and cats?

The Lego Batman Movie (2017)

The Lego Batman Movie, which is a spinoff of The Lego Movie, follows the title character in his attempts to overcome his greatest fear and stop the Joker’s latest plan. 

Ellie Kemper plays Phyllis, the gatekeeper of the Phantom Zone. Her time in the movie is brief, but memorable. She has a strong connection with Batman, asking him the real questions about his fears, while also providing several quotable moments. It's such a great character - even if it's just a single LEGO brick. 

The Lego Batman Movie is genuinely just a lot of fun for all audiences. From the supercool animation for kids to the iconic Batman characters, The Lego Batman Movie is perfect for kids and adults, and offers some hysterical moments thanks to Will Arnett's talented voicing of Batman.

The Stand-In (2020)

Last up, we have The Stand-In, a romantic comedy starring Drew Barrymore. This movie takes that classic trading places trope, and gives it to a disaffected comedy actress, who trades places with her ambitious stand-in. 

Ellie Kemper plays Jenna Jones, one of the actresses Barrymore’s character works with. This is another case where Kemper showcases her acting ability. She plays a completely different character than what we're used to from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt or The Office, and is low key kind of a mean person, and not her usually bubbly self. I didn't think it was possible for me to not like Kemper, but this movie succeeded, and that's thanks to her skills as an actress. 

While The Stand-In isn’t everyone’s favorite, I actually really enjoyed it and personally believe it’s one of Drew Barrymore’s best movies. There’s a lot to enjoy about here, and I think it’s worthy of a night in to watch.

With so many choices, Ellie Kemper is certainly a leader in comedy who's also shown some versatility. Hopefully we’ll get to see her in some more leading roles like soon. But, no matter what you pick from this list, you’ll have a fun time.

Home Alone (as well as the sequel) is an endearing Christmas movie that has become a classic, and embedded itself into the hearts of moviegoers everywhere. Which is why when it was announced that Disney+ would be rebooting Home Alone, fans of the originals had questions and opinions about revisiting the series. 

Regardless, while the original Home Alone cast will always have a special place in my heart, including those pesky wet bandits, the new Home Alone has an impressive cast. Home Sweet Home Alone boasts a talented cast of characters from all over the comedic world. Here’s where you might have seen them before. 

Ellie Kemper (Pam)

The first half of the burglar duo in Home Sweet Home Alone is Pam, played by the wonderful Ellie Kemper. This actress, who’s been around for some time in both TV and film, has had quite the career. 

In terms of TV, Ellie Kemper has had big roles in sitcoms like The Office, and her Primetime Emmy-nominated Netflix original series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She’s also done some voicework in television as well, in Sofia the First, American Dad!, and others. 

In movies, Kemper has appeared in several comedy films, as part of the Bridesmaids cast, 21 Jump Street, and voicing characters in movies like The Lego Batman Movie and The Secret Life of Pets. After her starring role in the new Christmas movie, I can’t wait to see what she does next. 

Rob Delaney (Jeff)

The second half of the burglar duo in the new Home Alone movie is Jeff, the husband to Pam. Played by Rob Delaney, the actor has had a prominent career in television, but has also appeared in several films. 

Delaney co-created the British television series, Catastrophe, and starred as Rob Norris. He also appeared in several other shows, such as Cougar Town, Birdgirl, the sketch comedy series Key & Peele, and many others. 

Delaney has also appeared in several films, including the superhero movie, Deadpool 2, The Hustle, Bombshell, Tom & Jerry, the Christmas film, Last Christmas, and many others. 

Archie Yates (Max Mercer)

Every Home Alone movie needs a kid who's home alone and left to defend himself and his home, and in Home Sweet Home Alone that’s Archie Yates, playing Max Mercer, 

As a young actor, Archie Yates doesn't have quite as many credits as some of his cast mates, but his one film credit thus far is a big one - playing Yorki in the Academy Award-winning film, Jojo Rabbit, directed by Taika Waititi. After Home Sweet Home Alone, Yates is going to be in a couple upcoming projects, so it’s only a matter of time before we see this talented actor again. 

Aisling Bea (Carol Mercer)

And then there’s always the mother that is trying to get home. Enter Carol Mercer in Home Sweet Home Alone, played by Irish comedian, Aisling Bea. While Bea is mainly known for her hilarious stand-up, she’s appeared in plenty of television shows prior to her role in Home Sweet Home Alone. 

She’s had recurring roles in shows like The Savage Eye, Cardinal Burns, Dead Boss, Trivia, The Fall and many others. She also had a role in British sitcom, Trollied, as Charlie, and starred as Aine in This Way Up, a British comedy-drama that is a Hulu original series. 

Kenan Thompson (Gavin)

Playing Gavin in Home Sweet Home Alone is Kenan Thompson, and anyone who knows comedy should know his name. Kenan Thompson is known for his comedic talents as the longest current member on the sketch comedy series, Saturday Night Live, which he has been on for eighteen seasons. 

Other than his long stint on the legendary late-night sketch comedy series, Thompson has appeared in plenty of other television shows and movies. In terms of TV, he started off his career as part of All That, and then moved onto his own show, Kenan & Kel alongside fellow child star, Kel Mitchell. He’s also had several guest roles in shows like the fantasy series, Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, Nature Cat, Psych, and many others. Currently, he has his own sitcom, called Kenan. 

With movies, Thompson has been in a variety of films, like Good Burger, Love Don’t Cost A Thing, Fat Albert, and had a voice role in The Smurfs Series, among other movies as well. His latest additions to his resume is Hubie Halloween alongside Adam Sandler, and the newest children’s movie, Clifford the Big Red Dog. 

Timothy Simons (Hunter)

Playing Hunter in Home Sweet Home Alone is Timothy Simons, who has had a long career in both movies and television. In movies, he’s appeared in the coming of age scary movie, Goosebumps, Yes, God, Yes, The Hustle alongside Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson, and the Hulu original film, Happiest Season. 

Simons has spent a good amount of his career in television, showcasing his talents. His most prominent role was playing Jonah Ryan on Veep on HBO for several seasons, and voiced Huginn on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Simons also currently voices Drew Pickles in the Rugrats reboot on Paramount+. 

Pete Holmes (Uncle Blake)

The role of Uncle Blake is played by Pete Holmes, a funny comedian. While Home Sweet Home Alone certainly isn't Pete Holmes' first feature film (you may recognize his voice from The Secret Life of Pets 2, for example) much of his acting (and writing) work over the years has been on the small screen. 

He was a writer for the sitcom, Outsourced, voiced Toby in Ugly Americans, guest starred on John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show, played Teri Gargantuan on Mighty Magiswords, starred as Pete in the web series, Crashing, and more. 

Devin Ratray (Buzz McCallister) 

I’m sure that name probably looks familiar to you, and you’re not wrong. Devin Ratray played Buzz McCallister from the first two Home Alone films. 

While Ratray is arguably known the most for his role as Buzz in the first two Home Alone films, the actor has had quite the career in both TV and film. Ratray appeared in Dennis the Menace, Surrogates alongside Bruce Willis, the Academy Award-nominated Nebraska, Hustlers, and many others. 

In television, Ratray had recurring roles in Agent Carter, Mosaic, the  Amazon original series, The Tick, Chicago Med, and many others. He’s also appeared in plenty of guest roles too, in shows like The Good Fight, Girls, Elementary and more. 

Ally Maki (Mei)

Playing Mei in Home Sweet Home Alone is Ally Maki, who’s appeared in both movies and TV since her debut. For movies, she’s had roles in films like the dance movie, Step-Up 3D, Geography Club, and the fourth entry in the Toy Story series as Giggles. 

In television, she’s been active since she was very young, starting off with guest roles in shows like That’s So Raven, ER, My Wife and Kids, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and more. 

Later on, she had recurring roles in Privileged, and 10 Things I Hate About You based on the movie of the same name, a main role in Wrecked, a recurring role in the Netflix series, Dear White People, a recurring role in Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, and several others. It’s crazy how much she has done on television, and hopefully soon we’ll get to see more of her. 

Chris Parnell (Uncle Stu)

Last up, we have Chris Parnell as Uncle Stu. Chris Parnell was a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1998 to 2006, so he got his start in comedy. During his long career, you’ve surely seen him in a couple of television shows or movies. 

In terms of films, Parnell has appeared in the Anchorman films alongside Will Ferrell, Hot Rod, Paper Man, Labor Pains, 21 Jump Street, The Five-Year Engagement, The Hotel Transylvania series,  Sisters, Goosebumps, I Am Woman, and so many others. 

Besides his time on Saturday Night Live, Chris Parnell has had a great career in television. He played Dr. Leo Spaceman, a part of the 30 Rock cast in a recurring role, and had a main role in the comedy, Happy Together. Parnell was also the narrator and various voices for WordGirl, voiced Cyril Figgis and Buck Henry in the adult animated comedy, Archer, played Fred Shay in Suburgatory, and currently voices Jerry Smith in the Dan Harmon series, Rick and Morty on Adult Swim. 

This doesn’t even include his many guest appearances and other recurring voice roles in shows like Family Guy, American Dad! and more. Dang, talk about a heft resume. 

Talk about an incredible cast list with plenty of comedic prowess. I’m sure that soon, we’ll get to see some of these actors in some really cool projects post-Home Sweet Home Alone.

There are few modern comedies — R-rated or otherwise — that have shaken up the zeitgeist quite like 2011’s Bridesmaids. Directed by Paul Feig and starring and co-written by an Oscar-nominated Kristen Wiig, this lewd, gleefully debauched, unsuspectingly (yet expectedly) sweet-natured romp turned the rom-com genre on its head, letting the ladies get their chance to cuss, be crass, and have a ball in ways Hollywood larks traditionally didn't. The results were an instant critical and commercial success, and its rippling effects can still be felt in Hollywood today. 

Now that a whole decade (!!) has passed since Bridesmaids made its way into theaters, let’s take a look and see how far this talented female-lead ensemble, including Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Chris O'Dowd, and an Oscar-nominated Melissa McCarthy, has come since they starred in producer Judd Apatow's satire. 

Kristen Wiig (Annie Walker)

As Annie Walker, a single 30-something woman who becomes Lillian’s maid of honor, Kristen Wiig plays the protagonist in Paul Feig's Bridesmaids. She also received an Oscar nomination for co-writing the screenplay. Most notably, Wiig received multiple Emmy nominations for her work on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. Her other television credits include The Spoils of Babylon, The Last Man on Earth, Arrested Development, Nobodies, The Spoils Before Dying, Bored to Death, and Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. Maya Rudolph (Lillian Donovan)

In the role of Lillian Donovan, Annie’s soon-to-be-married best friend, Maya Rudolph plays our woman in white (and, to her distress, brown) throughout the ill-fated wedding preparations in Bridesmaids. Most notably, the actress won two Emmys for NBC’s SNL and two more Emmys for her voice work on Netflix’s Big Mouth. Her other television credits include The Good Place, for which she was also Emmy-nominated, Up All Night, The Spoils Before Dying, Maya & Marty, The Grinder, Forever, and Mapleworth Murders. Playing the part of Helen Harris III, Lillian’s uber-successful and very well-to-do bridesmaid who quickly becomes the source of Annie’s envy and disdain, Rose Byrne became a comedy favorite through her prominent supporting role in Paul Feig’s Bridesmaids. Most notably, the actress received two Emmy nominations for her portrayal of Ellen Parsons in FX’s Damages. Byrne also appeared in Echo Point, No Activity, and HBO’s The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Last year, she was seen in Hulu’s Mrs. America. Currently, Byrne stars in Apple TV+’s Physical.

As Megan Price, the most outspoken and foul-mouthed bridesmaid, Melissa McCarthy got an Oscar nomination for her thunderous supporting role in Bridesmaids. She later received her second Oscar nomination for her leading role in Can You Ever Forgive Me? Moreover, McCarthy reunited with Paul Feig with The Heat, Spy, and Ghostbusters (2016). Her other notable film credits include Identity Thief, The Happytime Murders, St. Vincent, The Hangover Part III, This Is 40, The Nines, Go, The Kitchen, and Charlie’s Angels. Chris O’Dowd (Officer Nathan Rhodes)

In the role of Officer Nathan Rhodes, a kind-hearted police officer who forms a cutesy friendship with Annie, Chris O’Dowd was an affable love interest in Paul Feig’s Bridesmaids. Most notably, the actor played Roy Trenneman in Channel 4’s The IT Crowd. Personally, it's hard to believe that we’re approaching the 10-year reunion for 21 Jump Street, 2012’s surprisingly fresh, funny big-screen reimagining of the once-famous ‘80s show of the same name. Starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, who also co-wrote the film, and continuing the steady rise of directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, this R-rated comedy was a raunchy riot, and its sequel, 22 Jump Street, also proved to be an entertaining revamping. Now that we’re nine years removed from the hit movie, the 21 Jump Street cast keeps proving their talents in a multitude of projects. Let’s take a look and see what they’re doing right now. 

Jonah Hill (Morton Schmidt) 

As Morton Schmidt, a smart-headed but socially awkward police officer who must pose as a high school student in order to track the rising spread of a synthetic drug, Jonah Hill co-wrote and starred in 21 Jump Street. He later reprised this role in 22 Jump Street. Most notably, Hill received two Oscar nominations for his supporting turns in Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street. His other notable film credits include Superbad, Knocked Up, War Dogs, This is the End, Hail Caesar!, Cyrus, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Django Unchained, Get Him to the Greek, and The Beach Bum. Following his breakthrough performance in Step Up, the actor was quick to impress with star turns in Magic Mike, Magic Mike XXL, Foxcatcher, Logan Lucky, and Side Effects. Brie Larson (Molly Tracey)

Playing the part of Molly Tracey, a sociable high school student who befriends our undercover cops, Brie Larson was the female lead in 21 Jump Street. Most notably, the actress won an Oscar for her star-making performance in Room. Larson was also acclaimed for Short Term 12, The Glass Castle, Just Mercy, and The Spectacular Now. Additionally, she plays Carol Danvers, i.e. Captain Marvel, in several MCU movies, including Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. Larson’s other notable film credits include Trainwreck, Don Jon, Kong: Skull Island, The Gambler, Rampart, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 13 Going on 30, Hoot, and Greenberg. Furthermore, Larson directed, produced, and starred in Netflix’s Unicorn Store. 

Recently, Brie Larson won an Emmy for The Messy Truth VR Experience. She also played Kate Gregson on Showtime’s United States of Tara. Dave Franco (Eric Molson)

As Eric Molson, a popular drug dealer at Sagan High School, Dave Franco plays a secondary antagonist in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s 21 Jump Street. He later reprised his role in 22 Jump Street. Following this performance, Franco’s profile continued to rise with his work in the Neighbors movies, the Now You See Me films, The Disaster Artist, If Beale Street Could Talk, Nerve, Unfinished Business, Warm Bodies, 6 Underground, and The Little Hours. Additionally, the actor can be seen in Superbad, Charlie St. Cloud, Fright Night, Milk, and Greenberg and he can be heard in The LEGO Movie and its 2017 spin-off, The LEGO Ninjago Movie. 

Furthermore, on television, Dave Franco starred in the final season of ABC’s Scrubs. He can also be seen in Greek, Privileged, and Do Not Disturb. Last year, Franco made his directorial debut with The Rental, which he also produced and co-wrote. He also produced Zola. Currently, Franco is directing Somebody I Used to Know, which he also co-wrote and will produce. As an actor, he’ll be seen in Apple TV+’s The Afterparty and Netflix’s Day Shift. 

Rob Riggle (Mr. Walters)

In the role of Mr. Walters, Sagan High School’s odd gym teacher with nefarious dealings, Rob Riggle proved to be the true antagonist in 21 Jump Street. He also provided a cameo in 22 Jump Street. Best known for his work as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Riggle has forged a fine career as a reliable funnyman, especially in Modern Family, SNL, NTSF:SD:SUV::., Human Giant, Gary Unmarried, Wilfred, New Girl, Funny or Die Presents, and Angie Tribeca, to name only a few shows. He can also be heard in American Dad!, Golan the Insatiable, and The Cleveland Show. Currently, Riggle hosts ABC’s Holey Moley. Next, he'll lend his voice to Netflix's My Dad the Bounty Hunter. 

Additionally, Rob Riggle’s other film credits include Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, The Hangover, Furry Vengeance, Larry Crowne, Dumb and Dumber To, Night School, Step Brothers, The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, The Other Guys, The Internship, and Absolutely Anything. Ice Cube (Captain Dickson)

Playing the part of Captain Dickson, the intensely aggressive leader of the police force, Ice Cube often stole the show in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s 21 and 22 Jump Street. Best known for his involvement in N.W.A., which resulted in the legendary album, Straight Outta Compton, the musician-turned-actor began his movie career with a supporting turn in Boyz n the Hood. From there, Cube appeared in Anaconda, Three Kings, Higher Learning, Ghosts of Mars, Torque, and Rampart. He also wrote and starred in the Friday movies. Additionally, Cube starred in xXx: State of the Union and Barbershop, later producing and starring in the latter's sequels. The actor also starred in and produced Are We There Yet?, Are We Done Yet?, the Ride Along movies, The Longshots, and First Sunday.

Additionally, Ice Cube wrote, produced, and starred in All About the Benjamins and he wrote, directed, produced, and starred in The Players Club. His other starring credits include Fist Fight and last year's The High Note. Next, Ice Cube will star in War of the Worlds. He's also trying to make Last Friday. Most recently, it was announced that Cube would team up Jack Black for next year's Oh Hell No.

Ellie Kemper (Ms. Griggs)

As Ms. Griggs, a teacher who harbors a not-very-subtle crush on Jenko, Ellie Kemper played a smitten character in 21 Jump Street. Most notably, the actress received two Emmy nominations for her titular role in Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Additionally, Kemper is well-known for playing Erin Hannon in NBC’s The Office. Furthermore, she can be seen in The Mindy Project. As a voice actress, moreover, Kemper can be heard in We Bare Bears and Sofia the First.

Dax Flame (Zack)

Playing the part of Zack, Jenko’s friend, Dax Flame provided an explosive part in 21 and 22 Jump Street. Prior to this performance, he first came into prominence through his popular YouTube channel. Later, Flame appeared in Project X, The Watch, and Another Evil. Following that last title, the internet personality stepped away from acting in order to pursue other projects. Most recently, Flame co-directed, produced, and edited 2019’s documentary, Indoor Garden. He was also the subject of the documentary, Ice Cream Man. Last year, Flame hosted his talk show, Smoothie Madness. The actor keeps an active presence on his channel. 

DeRay Davis (Domingo)

As Domingo, the leader of the One Percenters, DeRay Davis played a major antagonist in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s 21 Jump Street. Currently, the actor plays a recurring role as Peaches in FX’s Snowfall. Also, Davis played a recurring role as R.J. in ABC’s My Wife and Kids. His other TV credits include Reno 911! and Empire. Additionally, Davis can be heard in The Boondocks and Black Dynamite.

Furthermore, away from television, DeRay Davis played Ray in the Barbershop movies. His other film credits include Meet the Blacks, Jumping the Broom, Life As We Know It, Old Dogs, Imagine That, Semi-Pro, Scary Movie 4, Johnson Family Vacation, The Fog, School for Scoundrels, Code Name: The Cleaner, License to Wed, Get Him to the Greek, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Drumline: A New Beat, Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars, and How High 2. Most recently, Davis starred in Gully. 

Nick Offerman (Deputy Chief Hardy)

In the role of Deputy Chief Hardy, the tough nut police captain who re-assigns Jenko and Schmidt to our retro title-bearing street, Nick Offerman had a notable supporting part in 21 and 22 Jump Street. Most notably, the TV actor played Ron Swanson in NBC’s Parks and Recreation. He also received praise for his work as Karl Weathers in FX’s Fargo Season 2. Additionally, Offerman can be seen in Children’s Hospital, Gilmore Girls, American Body Shop, George Lopez, 24, and NYPD Blue. As a voice actor, furthermore, he can be heard in 3Below: Tales of Arcadia, Comrade Detective, Gravity Falls, The Simpsons, and Axe Cop. Currently, Offerman co-hosts NBC’s Making It, for which the star was Emmy-nominated. 

Outside of television, Nick Offerman can be seen in The Founder, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Hearts Beat Loud, The Little Hours, and Bad Times at the El Royale, to name only a few of his credits. Most recently, Offerman was heard in Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans. Next, he’ll be heard in Sing 2 and he’ll be seen in Hulu’s Pam & Tommy and Amazon Prime’s A League of Their Own. Moreover, as an author, Offerman recently published Where the Deer and the Antelope Play.

Somewhere in moviegoers' memories, Christmas always involves just a little bit of pain. That’s because thanks to the Macaulay Culkin originated franchise Home Alone, there are some of us who see that time of year as a moment where we defend what has to be defended. Now a new generation is going to be acquainted with such a notion, as Home Sweet Home Alone is going to debut soon on Disney+. And this next round sees Ellie Kemper embracing her villainous side, while still involving some A+ references to the McCallister family from the originals.

Home Sweet Home Alone has a basic setup for your classic Home Alone movie, as Max (Jojo Rabbit's Archie Yates) has been accidentally abandoned by his family for Christmas vacation. However, the big differences are already present in this first look at the “reimagining” of the 1990 John Hughes/Chris Columbus classic. With Max being extremely engineering savvy, and Ellie Kemper dragging Rob Delaney around to try and rob this new house of horrors, it’s not just a rehash of past traps. Plus this time, Devin Ratray’s Buzz McCallister looks like he’s a good guy, as he’s now a police officer! 

While there’s always room for a twist that could see Buzz actually in on the heist, that doesn’t feel like the sort of spin Home Sweet Home Alone is aiming for. Rather, Archie Yates’ Max seems to embody the change that this reimagining is longing to achieve. With a more technologically inclined protagonist in the lead, this latest combination of bone crunching comedy and sweet family togetherness seems to be playing the classics in the name of erasing the three Macaulay Culkin-less sequels that came in the series. Apologies to Scarlett Johansson and her big break in Home Alone 3.

Casting the normally lovable Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney as the new villains in the series is another shrewd move in Home Sweet Home Alone’s arsenal. With the stars that made comedy gold in The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, as well landing an iconic Deadpool 2 cameo, trading in their nice facades for some quick loot, the humor definitely looks like a high point of the film. Which, ultimately, makes all of the pratfalls and traps all the more satisfying.

And isn’t that what Home Sweet Home Alone should be about? If we’re going to spend another Christmas in the trenches, shouldn’t those trenches be as treacherous as possible? Director Dan Mazer certainly seems to think so, as new traps and devices like that falling icicle trap, or the billiard ball launcher, might make even Kevin McCallister wince. Then again, this is the kid who some fans have compared to John Rambo, so he’d probably go back to smiling with pride after a mere second of pity.

Like the trailer says, “holiday classics were meant to be broken.” So who knows what Home Sweet Home Alone will do, when it premieres on Disney+ Day’s November 12th lineup! “KEVINNNN!” It’s the loud and obnoxious, yet soothing words that come out of many of our TV screens year after year as we continue the tradition of watching 1990’s Home Alone each holiday season. But this year, Disney+ is welcoming a new mischievous kid onto our Christmas list with a reboot called Home Sweet Home Alone, and we finally have some more details.

It’s been announced that 20th Century Studios' upcoming holiday family film is set to premiere on the two-year anniversary of Disney+, i.e. November 12. Home Sweet Home Alone stars 12-year-old Archie Yates, who memorably starred in Oscar-winning film Jojo Rabbit as a new character named Max Mercer, who will deal with a situation during the Christmas season Kevin McCallister can relate to.

Except instead of two bumbling thieves, the antagonists that Max Mercer will come in crosshairs with is a married couple who has their eyes on a priceless heirloom that is located in Max’s house. When Max accidentally ends up home alone while his family are in Japan for the holidays, he uses his cleverness to keep them away.

While 20th Century Studios' official announcement doesn’t specify who plays who, the Home Sweet Home Alone cast includes Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s Ellie Kemper, Catastrophe’s Rob Delaney, Veep’s Timothy Simons, Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson and Ally Maki. The movie was written by Saturday Night Live cast member Mikey Day, along with one of the show’s staff writers, Streeter Seidell. Disney+ also made the announcement via its Instagram:

The studio behind Home Alone has tried to recapture the magic of the original two movies from John Hughes and Chris Columbus a few times over the years with Home Alone 3 in 1997, Home Alone 4 in 2002 and Home Alone: The Holiday Heist in 2012, each starring different kids. None of them have come close to living up to the original starring Macaulay Culkin.

There’s a lot to love about the original. John Williams’ score, the many quotable lines and sweet message of Christmas Culkin displays through his journey. I wouldn’t necessarily go into Home Sweet Home Alone expecting it to reach these heights, but the movie does look to be armed with some talented writers and actors.

Disney+ has already produced a few of holiday films in its two years as a streaming service, including Noelle starring Anna Kendrick and last year’s The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special. And next year, Disney+ will release the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special from James Gunn and starring the live-action Marvel crew in time for the 2022 holidays. It's hard to believe that it has been 10 years since the release of Paul Feig's Bridesmaids – at least partially because the film remains just as fresh and funny as ever. Led by Kristen Wiig, the entire ensemble cast is stacked with hilarious stars doing what they do best, and the result is sequence after sequence that are equally hysterical and memorable. Certainly one part that fans will never forget is the infamous food poisoning scene, which features almost the entire bridal party vomiting and having diarrhea after a group meal, but what you may not know is that the bit was at one point punctuated by a spectacularly gross and over-the-top moment.

Paul Feig has in the recent past discussed the process of moderating the content of that incredible sequence, but during an interview with Yahoo! he revealed a specific moment that was left on the cutting room floor. Thanks to the free-flowing atmosphere on the set of the movie that allowed for plenty of improvisation and new ideas, a lot more material was shot than was actually used in the theatrical version of the comedy – the food poisoning scene included. As Feig described, there was a particularly sick bit featuring Ellie Kemper that was discovered to be too much when the film started to come together:

Reflecting on the scene as it exists in both the theatrical cut and unrated cut of Bridesmaids, it's understandable why Feig and those making calls in the editing room decided this idea was a bit extra. Gross as the whole sequence is, the majority of the nastiness is implied rather than shown. While you know that obscene things are happening inside the toilet bowl and sink – as well as under Maya Rudolph's wedding dress – you really only see splashes of it (sorry). If Ellie Kemper's character is projectile vomiting in a pristine white office, there is no hiding it, and it could have easily crossed a line from "funny" to "nauseating."

As it exists, the scene in Bridesmaids is perfect, and thankfully easy to enjoy over and over again. In addition to being available on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital (which is how you can find the aforementioned unrated cut), the comedy is also currently streaming on both Peacock and Hulu + Live TV. Technically the official tenth anniversary was last week, but it's not too late to celebrate.

When it was announced The Office would leave Netflix, I bet the hit comedy’s biggest fans were at least happy to learn a subscription to Peacock, on which it is now exclusively available, was free. Yet, after an insurmountable number of times binging Michael Scott’s (Steve Carell) managerial bumbling, Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam’s (Jenna Fischer) blossoming romance, and other workplace misadventures, it might be time to find something else to watch. However, if you still cannot get enough of The Office cast, there is plenty more from them available to stream.

In fact, the stars of the NBC hit, itself inspired by Ricky Gervais’ acclaimed British mockumentary style sitcom, have since gone on to lead some incredibly impressive careers in front of and behind the camera. For instance, Steve Carell is a respected Academy Award-nominated actor, John Krasinski is a successful filmmaker and action star, and Mindy Kaling is the brains behind some of the most groundbreaking comedy series in recent memory, just to name a few. The amount of exciting big and small screen projects that involve the cast of The Office outside their Dunder Mifflin tenure is almost too big a number to compile.

However, we are going to try anyway by focusing primarily on just 12 of the series’ biggest names and the most noteworthy titles of their respective filmographies. The following are the best movies and TV shows a fan of The Office can also spend their time with right now, starting with the man who gave you a reason to admire someone you would be ashamed to call your boss otherwise.

Steve Carell (Michael Scott)

Following his stint as Scranton’s inept Dunder Mifflin manager, Steve Carell recently played an Army general whose job challenges are less his fault on the satirical Space Force (which he co-created with Greg Daniels) and a TV host whose career mistakes are far more despicable (but to Emmy-nominated acclaim) on The Morning Show for Apple TV+. The former Office lead has also exhibited wonderful acting range in films like the clever rom-com Crazy Stupid Love, Adam McKay’s bold, Oscar-nominated political biopic Vice, heartbreaking family drama Beautiful Boy opposite Timothee Chalamet, and even the animated Dr. Seuss adaptation Horton Hears a Who! - his second collaboration with Jim Carrey.

Outside of creating the website SoulPancake, Rainn Wilson has done well to outgrow his otherwise best known role of the ridiculously self-serious Dwight Schrute by playing a widow upended by Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s mysterious derelict in Hesher, a gym teacher battling zombie children in Cooties, the voice of Lex Luthor in The Death of Superman, and, most recently, on Utopia as one of several people who believe they must save the world. Plus, to see the actor in something crazy before he landed The Office, Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses easily does the trick.

Reilly’s titular musician and in Hall Pass as the fed-up wife of a horny Owen Wilson. The St. Louis-born The Office alum has also known for impressive turns in indie films, such as the quirky 2012 rom-com The Giant Mechanical Man or the mid-life crisis dramedy Brad’s Status, in which she plays Ben Stiller’s wife.

While his, arguably, best known big screen role in Inglourious Basterds is currently unavailable to stream, you can catch him in other period pieces like The Founder, also starring Michael Keaton as McDonald’s franchise developer Ray Croc, and Saving Mr. Banks, in which Novak’s Robert B. Sherman tries to convince P.L. Travers to allow his cheery songs into Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins adaptation.

The comedian has not slowed down since, appearing in unique comedies like the Rudy Ray Moore biopic Dolemite Is My Name alongside Eddie Murphy or An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn with Parks and Recreation alum Aubrey Plaza.

When looking back at the myriad romantic relationships that went down during The Office's nine seasons, the biggest standout is obviously going to be Jim and Pam, especially since John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer maintained their close friendship well after the final episode. The second best couple is a little harder to figure out, though. Would it be Michael and Jan? Dwight and Angela? Ryan...and...Kelly? If you answered "Erin and Andy," then you are in direct opposition of star Ellie Kemper.

Before landing the titular lead role in Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Ellie Kemper was added into The Office's ensemble as Erin Hannon in Season 5, where she spent a few seasons in an on-and-off relationship with Ed Helms' Andy Bernard. On the one hand, that particular romance made sense, considering both Erin and Andy shared similar desires to keep others smiling and happy. But on several other hands, they weren't exactly the smoothest pair, and Kemper said as much while talking to former co-star Brian Baumgartner for his behind-the-scenes podcast An Oral History of The Office. When directly asked if she thought the characters worked as a couple, she answered with:

Uneven is probably the best word to use for Erin and Andy's romantic ebbs and flows. Andy was all interested in Erin when she first arrived at Dunder-Mifflin (as was Dwight, weirdly enough), and then she returned that attraction in Season 6, though it was a situation where neither one wanted to really make a big first move, leading to misunderstandings and minor disappointments. I mean, even their first date (in "St. Patrick's Day") was marred by Erin's illness and Andy's suspicion that she had some kind of romantic connection with her foster brother Reed.

Just when things started to get going, Erin discovered that Andy had been engaged to Angela, which she hadn't known about before, and they split up. In Season 7, Erin dated Gabe for a while before turning her sights back on Andy, who was still bothered by the Gabe situation. And it just kept being a mess through Season 8 and 9, where Andy was dating Jessica, and then Andy got fired, and then Erin transferred to Florida, and then Erin started dating Andy's friend Pete. That latter relationship was still intact for The Office's finale, and I'm sure I'm not the only one hoping that it kept going, and that there weren't another 700 near-misses for Erin and Andy in the years that followed.

Obviously this opinion is more centered on how the writers handled the narrative ins and outs, and and not about the performances from Ellie Kemper and Ed Helms, who were both as solid as can be throughout their time on The Office. But in the same way that Michael and most women didn't work, and the way that Ryan and Kelly didn't work, and the way that Toby and everyone didn't work, Erin and Andy were just not crafted with pure compatibility in mind. And let's be real, Erin was way too happy and wonderful to put up with Andy's wishy-washy ass.

One thing is almost definitely guaranteed, though. Ellie Kemper likely doesn't hate the idea of Erin and Andy as much as Office fans hated the idea of Jim and Cathy, to the point where the actress Lindsey Broad unfortuantely still gets trolled about the role on social media.

The Office is currently available to stream in full on Netflix, where it remains one of the most-watched shows on the entire platform. Saturday Night Live has served as the jumping off point for countless comedians throughout the show's 48-year history, but just because someone doesn't make it on the show doesn't necessarily mean their career is over. Do names like Donald Glover, Jim Carrey, Aubrey Plaza, and Jennifer Coolidge sound familiar? Well, they should, as each of them became comedy superstars in the years following their failed SNL auditions. Here are some of the biggest comedians who didn’t make the cut but still found success in the entertainment industry. 

Jennifer Coolidge

Over the course of the past quarter-century, Jennifer Coolidge has had a remarkable career, with big-screen appearances in movies like American Pie, Legally Blonde, and various Christopher Guest mockumentaries. And more recently, Coolidge stole every one of her scenes on The White Lotus, a performance that won her multiple awards. But as she explained in a 2004 Los Angeles Magazine oral history on The Groundlings sketch comedy troupe, she tried out for Saturday Night Live alongside future cast members Will Ferrell, Cheri Oteri, and Chris Kattan in 1995 prior to her career really taking off:

As great as it would have been to see Coolidge week-in and week-out with some of the best SNL casts of all time, it’s hard to say if we would have ever been given iconic characters like Tanya McQuoid.

John Mulaney

In addition to being one of the best standup comedians with a collection of tremendous specials, John Mulaney was also a longtime writer for Saturday Night Live. But as Mulaney explained in the SNL Stories from the Show video in April 2020, he was originally brought on to audition as a member of the cast back in August 2008. A few days after the audition, which included a spot-on Law & Order bit, the comedian received a phone call that would change his life: 

Mulaney would go on to create the unforgettable Stefon character with Bill Hader, come up with some of the most absurd SNL musical numbers, and become one of the sharpest and most honest standups of his generation.

Tiffany Haddish

In the past decade, Tiffany Haddish has established herself as one of the biggest comedians on the planet with smash hit movies like Girls Trip, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and the upcoming Haunted Mansion, but as the actress and Ali Wong discussed at the Tuca & Bertie premiere (via Decider) in 2019, Haddish tried out for Saturday Night Live prior to her career really taking off.

Joking about the situation, Haddish said she told SNL that she would be hosting “next time,” and that’s exactly what happened. But not only did Haddish host the sketch comedy show in November 2017, she also won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2018 for her guest spot that night. 

Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling has been a powerful force in the entertainment industry throughout the past decade-and-a-half thanks to a long list of incredible shows like The Office, The Mindy Project, and Never Have I Ever. But as the decorated comedian, actress, and writer told The Daily Beast’s The Last Laugh podcast in 2019, she was close to adding Saturday Night Live to her resume:

Though Kaling was initially excited about the opportunity, she was forced to turn down the writing gig because of her contract for The Office and an agreement she made with executive producer Greg Daniels. She would call the whole situation “life-changing.”

John Goodman has hosted Saturday Night Live more than a dozen times over the years, and is one of the most prolific members of the five-times club, but he was almost a member of the show’s cast way back when. During a 2022 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Golden Globe winner opened up about his failed audition for the show in 1980:

Obviously, Goodman wasn’t too sore about the rejection, as he’s hosted the show 13 times over the years, and has made countless cameos during that same stretch of time.

Marc Maron

Over the years, Marc Maron has gone from tenacious standup comedian to prolific podcaster with his WTF with Marc Maron podcast, and has even found a great deal of success as an actor. However, the one big what-if from his career that’s always stuck with him was his failed 1995 Saturday Night Live audition, which he has talked about time and time again on his podcast over the years.

Back in 2015, when Lorne Michaels appeared on WTF, Maron finally asked the SNL executive producer for some clarity on the situation. When Maron asked if he wasn’t a right fit for the show, Michaels explained that he was fine, it was just that the show was going through a massive transition at the time and they didn’t know how all the pieces would fit.

Kumail Nanjiani

Similar to John Mulaney and Mindy Kaling, Kumail Nanjiani was once asked to audition for Saturday Night Live to only receive an offer to join as a member of the writing staff. But unlike Mulaney, who worked as a writer for years, and Kaling, who had to turn down the offer, the Eternals star served as a member of the writing team for one week, as he told Vulture in 2012.

Nanjiani said he tried out because “you can’t not audition for SNL,” and was offered a chance to write sketches for a few weeks, but ultimately had prior engagements that prevented him from staying longer than a single show. But like a lot of people on this list, Nanjiani would go on to host SNL in 2017.

Jack McBrayer

Jack McBrayer, best known for his turn as Kenneth Parcell on 30 Rock, a show that was executive produced by none other than Lorne Michaels. But the hit comedy series wasn’t the first time McBrayer had an interaction with the SNL creator, as the actor and comedian auditioned for the sketch show years ago. During a 2014 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, McBrayer joked about his failed audition, saying:

McBrayer went on to cross his fingers and say “Wel, they never said no,” in reference to his tryout alongside his longtime friend. But hey, everything worked out for McBrayer in the end, even if no one called to break the bad news.

Donald Glover

Donald Glover would become a star with his starring role in the NBC comedy Community, but the comedian, actor, writer, and musician was almost a member of a completely different show when he auditioned for a spot on Saturday Night Live in 2008. How and why Glover didn't earn a spot still baffles a lot of people, including Glover, who made a joke of his two failed auditions when he hosted SNL in 2018 

But don't feel too bad for Glover as he went on to have great success on television, in movies, and even in the music industry under his Childish Gambino moniker. 

Aubrey Plaza

Aubrey Plaza was another future star in the making when she auditioned for a spot on Saturday Night Live in 2008. After being introduced to SNL at a very early age, Plaza told the Guardian that she always wanted to be on the show and did everything she could do in order to get there, which ultimately led to her interning on the program in 2005 and the auditioning in 2008.

And though she didn't make the cut, Plaza ended up securing a gig as one of the funniest characters on Parks And Recreation, and the rest is history. In the years following her failed audition, Plaza has become one of the funniest actresses in film and television with her absurdly awkward and dark sense of humor. And she even went on to host SNL in January 2023. 

Ellie Kemper

It seems like so many of the SNL hopefuls from the late 2000s would later go on to find success on other NBC programming, which is also the case for Ellie Kemper. Before the future star earned the starring role on The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Kemper found success as a member of The Office cast. During a 2018 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Kemper revealed that even though she hasn't spoken to Lorne Michaels since her failed 2008 audition, she doesn't hold anything against him, stating:

Though she never joined the SNL cast, Kemper finally got to stand on the stage for a brief reunion with her fellow cast from The Office when Steve Carell hosted the show in November 2018. 

Nick Kroll

Before he went on to star in The League and his own sketch comedy show, Kroll Show, and the Netflix animated series Big Mouth, comedian Nick Kroll was a member of the same auditioning class as his future collaborator John Mulaney back in 2008. During an interview on the Dan Patrick Show, Kroll revealed that he in fact had a memorable, yet extremely awkward interaction with Lorne Michaels, stating:

Kroll went on to say that everything worked out the way it should have because he ended up securing a role on The League the following year and became a comedy star shortly thereafter.

Stephen Colbert

Although not as shocking as his Saved By The Bell audition, The Late Show host Stephen Colbert also tried to join the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1996. Colbert was part of the round of auditions that would eventually lead to Tracy Morgan getting a spot on the show. Colbert joked with Morgan about his failed audition during the former 30 Rock star's 2017 appearance on The Late Show, where Morgan revealed that he didn't remember the incident, stating:

According to Colbert, he and Morgan were both part of the same callback after the first round of auditions, but he was the odd man out. Colbert, however, would go on to briefly work on SNL, where he voiced Ace on the Ambiguously Gay Duo animated segments alongside Steve Carell. Colbert would go on to become a Daily Show correspondent before landing his own show, The Colbert Report, and then taking over for David Letterman on The Late Show in 2015.

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey has gone on to host Saturday Night Live multiple times over the course of his career, but the Canadian comedian looked at earning a spot on the cast before he found great success in the 1980s. In a 2015 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lorne Michaels revealed that he wasn’t at Carrey’s audition, but someone who was there passed on the future star, saying they didn’t “think Lorne would like it.”  

Carrey would end up getting a spot on In Living Color a decade later, and was quickly catapulted into superstardom within a few years. It’s safe to say he did okay for himself despite not making the cut for SNL. 

Kevin Hart

You wouldn't think it, but Kevin Hart had probably one of the most disastrous Saturday Night Live auditions in the history of the show. Before he went on to perform sold out shows at Madison Square Garden and headlining countless hit comedy movies, Hart tried his luck at the sketch comedy show. During a 2015 appearance on Conan, Hart explained why you shouldn't do an impression of a basketball player no one knows:

Despite not making the cut for Saturday Night Live, it's safe to say Kevin Hart has had one heck of a career.

Zach Galifianakis

Years before he became a comedy superstar in The Hangover trilogy, Zach Galifianakis auditioned for Saturday Night Live, and got hired, but as a writer instead of a cast-member. During a 2019 episode of The Off Camera Show, Galifianakis explained that he didn't know at the time that he wouldn't actually be performing on the show, stating:

He would last a couple of weeks on the writing team before he moved on to other things. In the years following, the comedian has become a star in his own right and continues to provide laughs with his offbeat humor.

Paul Reubens

Paul Reubens is better known as the man-child Pee-wee Herman, but the world might not have ever gotten the oddball character if it weren't for the actor's failed Saturday Night Live audition in 1980. During the 2007 Sketch Fest (via SF Gate), Reubens revealed how hurt and outraged he was after being rejected, stating:

Reubens would go on to have a long career in the entertainment industry with his signature Pee-wee Herman character, as well as roles in movies like Blow, Batman Returns, and multiple others. 

Lisa Kudrow

Before landing a gig on Friends, Lisa Kudrow auditioned for a spot on the cast of Saturday Night Live in the early 1990s, which the show's executive producer Lorne Michaels regrets rejecting all these years later, as he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2015::

It’s hard to imagine what Friends would have been like with Kudrow’s Phoebe Buffay all those years.

Kel Mitchell

Kenan Thompson has gone on to become the longest-running cast-member of Saturday Night Live after earning a spot on the show in 2003. Thompson's old comedy partner, Kel Mitchell, wasn't as lucky as his friend and All That co-star. Mitchell auditioned at the same time as Thompson way back when, but thanks to an awkward audition, he knew it was over as he explained during a Reddit Ask Me Anything session:

In the years following his disastrous audition, Mitchel has gone on to appear on the series Game Shakers as well as an All That reunion and Dancing With The Stars.

Jordan Peele

This final entry is quite different from the rest as Jordan Peele was offered a spot on Saturday Night Live in 2008, but he had to turn it down after Fox wouldn't release the future star of Key And Peele from his MadTV contract.

Peele told the Hollywood Reporter in a 2019 interview that the incident motivated him to not only act and perform comedy but to also start producing his own projects. Over the next 10 years, Peele started the successful sketch comedy show, Key And Peele, before becoming one of the most groundbreaking minds in the horror genre with films like Get Out, Us, and Nope. 

Those are just a few of the dozens of comedians who failed to impress Lorne Michaels of senior writers of Saturday Night Live. While the long-running sketch comedy series may be a fantastic jumping off point for a comedian's career, it's clearly not the only way a talented comedian can make a name for themselves, as evidenced by so many of the successful people we mentioned above.

Those are just a few of the dozens of comedians who found success despite not joining the Saturday Night Live cast. And who knows, maybe we’ll be seeing some of them come back in the future as SNL hosts when the show makes its eventual return after suspending production due to the 2023 WGA strike. 

During its nine season run on NBC, The Office became one of the most biggest, most culturally adored sitcoms of the early 21st century. Through its relatable brand of everyday characters, accompanied by warm performances, inspired plotlines, and engrossing emotional stakes, it's easy to see why so many viewers loved it (and continue to love it). 

Based on the excellent UK series of the same name, The Office became one of the most endearing, quotable American sitcoms of the modern era. But now that The Office has closed its doors, what is the cast up to now? Looking at stars like Steve Carell, John Krasinski, and Mindy Kaling, to name a few, the popular sitcom has launched some of our biggest comedy stars. Several other cast members have also seen their profiles soar thanks to the show's continued success. Let's take a look at where The Office cast has relocated.

Steve Carell (Michael Scott)

As the clueless, socially awkward (if not heartless) regional manager of Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch, Steve Carell served as the central figure on NBC's The Office for the majority of its run. The one-two punch of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and The Office's success turned Carell into a comedy A-lister, resulting in an expanding movie/TV career. These days, Carell is seen in Apple's The Morning Show, which got renewed for a second season. He's also starring in Irresistible, a new political comedy written and directed by Jon Stewart. And he once again lent his voice to the role of Gru in the upcoming Minions: The Rise of Gru, which has now been delayed to the summer of 2021. Additionally, Carell stars in the Netflix comedy series, Space Force, which he co-created alongside The Office's Greg Daniels. It's expected to premiere in May.

John Krasinski (Jim Halpert)

As a good-natured prankster salesman with a heart, John Krasinski's Jim Halpert often served as the one half of the emotional core of The Office, particularly with the ongoing "will they, won't they" relationship between him and his co-star, Pam (Jenna Fischer). Since The Office's final half-hour, Krasinski has continued to expand himself as both an actor and filmmaker. That was certainly seen with his surprise hit horror movie, A Quiet Place, which he directed and co-wrote in addition to starring in. Last month, audiences would've seen the much-anticipated sequel, A Quiet Place: Part II, which he once again wrote and directed, but the film was unfortunately delayed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to this burgeoning horror movie franchise, Krasinski has also found a great deal of success playing the title role in Amazon's hit streaming series, Jack Ryan.

Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute)

As Dwight Schrute, the "assistant to the regional manager" and the constant source of Jim's pranks, Rainn Wilson played a memorable presence on The Office. While he didn't quite reach the same career heights as a few of his Office co-workers, he continues to have an active career in both movies and on television. Most recently, he was seen in the series finale of Transparent and a few recent episodes of Mom. Up next, he'll star in Gillian Flynn's new series, Utopia, and he's set to appear in the drama series, The Power. He'll also be seen in the thriller Don't Tell A Soul and he provided this voice to the animated movie Robodog, both of which are expected to come out at some point later this year. He also founded the website SoulPancake.

Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly)

As Pam Beesly, the receptionist of Dunder Mifflin who forms a "will they, won't they" co-worker relationship with Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), Jenna Fischer was the other half of The Office's emotional arc. The dryly funny actress who has primarily worked in TV since The Office ended, including Splitting Up Together, Drunk History, and You, Me, And the Apocalypse after her time on The Office. Fischer also wrote a book, The Actor's Life: A Survival Guide, which was published in 2017. She currently hosts the podcast Office Ladies alongside her friend and former co-star, Angela Kinsey.

BJ Novak (Ryan Howard)

As Ryan Howard, a low-level employee who became an active member of the office, B.J. Novak played a prevalent role both in front of and behind the camera on The Office. Serving as a writer and director on the popular series, Novak used his popularity from the series to continue working as both an actor and creative in the business. As an actor, Novak has been seen in The Mindy Project (which he also helped direct), Saving Mr. Banks, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Community, and The Founder since The Office came to a close. Up next, B.J. Novak will make his feature directorial debut with the horror-mystery-thriller Vengeance, which he also wrote and will star in. He appears to be following John Krasinski's steps by getting into the horror game.

Ed Helms (Andy Bernard)

A Dunder Mifflin salesman who found himself promoted to Regional Manager shortly after Michael Scott left Scranton, Ed Helms went from supporting star to the head of The Office over the course of the show's run. Promoted in part due to his rising popularity thanks to The Hangover movies, among other projects, Helms remains active following his tenure on The Office. He's appeared in movies both big and small, including Vacation, The Clapper, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, Chappaquiddick, Father Figures, Tag, and more. Up next, Helms will star in the new Netflix action-comedy, Coffee & Kareem, which hits the streaming service on April 3rd. Helms is also soon set to be seen in another new comedy, Togetherish, later this year.

Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor)

As a customer service representative for Dunder Mifflin, Mindy Kaling's Kelly Kapoor grew in prominence throughout the course of the show's run. The actress, who was also a writer for the NBC sitcom, has also continued to rise in prominence since the show's finale, notably with her own TV series, The Mindy Project, as well as acting parts in A Wrinkle in Time, Ocean's 8, and a voice role in Pixar's Inside Out. Most recently, Kaling wrote and starred in Late Night, and she appeared in a few episodes of The Morning Show. She also created the Hulu series, Four Weddings and a Funeral, based on the 1994 movie of the same name, and she is the creator of the new Netflix sitcom, Never Have I Ever, which will premiere later this month.

Angela Kinsey (Angela Martin)

As the head of accounting at Dunder Mifflin, Angela Martin, played by Angela Kinsey, could often be a cold and careless person around the office. But as an actress, Kinsey has continued to brighten the screen through different film and television roles in Tall Girl, Fresh Off The Boat, Haters Back Off, and more. Up next, Kinsey stars in Mindy Kaling's Netflix series, Never Have I Ever. Also, she co-hosts the podcast Office Ladies with Jenna Fischer.

Oscar Nunez (Oscar Martinez)

As an accountant for Dunder Mifflin, Oscar Martinez, played by Oscar Nunez, is another character who has seen their role expanded on the show as it grew in popularity. Most recently Nunez has been since in shows like Life in Pieces, Mr. Iglesias, NCIS: Los Angeles, and more. Most recently, Nunez lent his voice to 3Below: Tales of Arcadia and Where's Waldo? He was also seen in a series of State Farm Insurance commercials.

Phyllis Smith (Phyllis Vance)

As the sweet-natured Phyllis Vance, Phyllis Smith's role on The Office grew over the source of the series. As an actress, Smith has since been seen or heard in The Middle, the Netflix series The OA, and she took on the voice of the adorably gloomy Sadness in Pixar's Inside Out.

Leslie David Baker (Stanley Hudson)

As a long-time Dunder Mifflin employee who is quick to scoff or roll his eyes at anything happening around the Dunder Mifflin offices, Leslie David Baker's Stanley Hudson always had a wonderful reaction to the goofiness of his work environment, particularly with his dry, witty, loaded retorts. As an actor, Baker has continued to work primarily in television since The Office's series finale. Most recently, he has been lending his voice to the animated series, Puppy Dog Pals. He also recently appeared in an episode of the CBS sitcom, Fam.

Brian Baumgartner (Kevin Malone)

Playing the part of the lovable Kevin Malone, a good-hearted — if not the brightest — accountant for Dunder Mifflin, Brian Baumgartner provided us with one of the most endearing characters on The Office. The actor continues to bounce between film and TV since The Office came to a close. He's been seen in shows like Melissa & Joey, Chicago Fire, The Goldbergs, and Good Behavior, to name only a few. He will next be seen in Electric Jesus.

Kate Flannery (Meredith Palmer)

As Meredith Palmer, Kate Flannery constantly found herself in some of The Office's most outrageous moments. Since her time on The Office, Flannery has continued to work primarily in television, notably doing voice work for shows like Steven Universe and OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes. She'll next be seen in the comedy Golden Arm. Also, last year, Flannery appeared on the recent season of the competitive dancing series, Dancing with the Stars.

Paul Lieberstein (Toby Flenderson)

As Toby Flenderson, the long-suffering Human Resources Representatives who was often the bane of Michael Scott's existence (while earning the wrath of a few other Dunder Mifflin employees as well), Paul Lieberstein played a memorable punching bag on The Office, though Lieberstein also had an extensive influence on the program as a writer and director. Since The Office came to a close, Lieberstein has continued to work in front and behind the camera, directing and starring in episodes of The Mindy Project and The Newsroom while also appearing in the TBS series People of Earth. Most recently, in 2018, Lieberstein made his feature debut by starring, writing, producing, and directing the dark comedy, Song of Back and Neck.

Creed Bratton (Creed Bratton)

Playing a fictional version of himself, Creed Bratton was one of the oldest members of Dunder Mifflin and he was certainly among the most spirited. Although he is primarily a musician, his memorable role in this popular sitcom is what he might now be best known for. Bratton was an actor before the show became a hit, though the series definitely helped him find more roles. He was most recently seen in The Sisters Brothers and an episode of Into the Dark. He'll next be seen in the comedies Maybe There's a Tree and Mayfield's Game.

Craig Robinson (Darryl Philbin)

Although Craig Robinson didn't have a sizable role at the beginning of The Office as Darryl Philbin, his character was brought closer to the forefront in later seasons, and the actor's profile has continued to soar throughout the years. Most recently, Robinson has been seen in Dolemite Is My Name, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made. He also was heard in Dolittle and Big Mouth. He also has a reoccurring part on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Up next, he lends his voice to The Ark and the Aardvark. Robinson will also appear in the fantasy film, Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon.

Ellie Kemper (Erin Hannon)

As Erin Hannon, the new receptionist at Dunder Mifflin, Ellie Kemper played a lively role in the later seasons of The Office. Since her time on the show, Kemper has continued to rise in prominence. Most notably with the title role in Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She has also done voice work for The Secret Life of Pets movies, Sofia the First, We Bare Bears, and more. She'll next be seen in the comedy The Stand-In, and she's set to star in the upcoming Home Alone reboot. Also, in 2018, she published her first book, My Squirrel Days.

Ellie Kemper and Jon Hamm have a long history together. It stretches all the way back before either were famous and Kemper was still in high school. Hamm, before he was a household name, taught high school drama in his hometown of St. Louis, MO, and Kemper, star of Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, was actually one of his students.

Even years later, Jon Hamm is still playing the role of advisor to Ellie Kemper, as she related in an interview with NBC News discussing how she found a balance between work and her personal life after becoming a mother while still working on her Netflix show. Ellie Kemper’s first daughter was born 2016. Shortly after, the filming for Season 3 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt began and Kemper was a working mom for the first time.

According to Ellie Kemper, she realized what that meant: her time was not only hers anymore. It was Jon Hamm, ever the advisor, that gave her some advice that has stuck. She said:

Jon Hamm, who plays her tormentor and former captor on the Netflix hit, and Ellie Kemper were shooting a scene a together, the old teacher told his old student what she needed to do. Kemper also recalled,

It's no surprise that Ellie Kemper would take advice from Jon Hamm to heart. The Mad Men star has played an important role in her life. Recalling her freshman year drama class in an interview with A.V. Club way back when she was first on The Office, Kemper has formerly revealed how Hamm was a popular teacher,

A few years later, after Jon Hamm was cast on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Ellie Kemper People that in a way, she'll always see him as a teacher, saying,

Jon Hamm's role in Ellie Kemper's personal and private lives is a crucial one, and she's obviously very grateful that he has taken the time to mentor her in both.

The U.S. version of The Office has far exceeded the popularity of its predecessor, yet the original U.K. version is the one that gloriously gifted its fans with a two-part holiday special. (Not to mention the Red Nose Day special and the feature film David Brent: Life on the Road.) Anybody who wants to see a reunion, revival or one-off special from Steve Carrell's Michael Scott, Jenna Fischer's Pam Beesley/Halpert or Mindy Kaling's Kelly Kapoor, though, is currently out of luck, with zero follow-up plans in place.

The big question, however, is "Why in the hell(o ladies) hasn't The Office found a way to return to its adoring fanbase yet?" Granted, it's only been six years since The Office ended its nine-season run on NBC, which arguably happened two years after it should have, but fans have been clamoring for its return during each of those six years, and it only gets more intense when the stars randomly reunite. The interest is clear and present, and as we'll go over below, quite a few stars are interested in returning. So what gives?

Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey And Ellie Kemper Are Down To Return

The most recent wave of Office revival craziness has been heavily influenced by former co-stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey's podcast Office Ladies, where installments are focused on individual Office episodes. The stories they've told so far have been as hilarious as the NBC hit itself, which is stoking the hunger for at least one new installment to tide everyone over.

The two actresses appeared on Ellen on Monday, which was guest-hosted by Office vet Ellie Kemper, so you know there was a point when the topic of "more Office" came up. Here's the positive way that dialogue played out.

Honestly, if Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey and Ellie Kemper started up an Office spinoff that followed the female stars taking on other workplace foibles, either at Dunder Mifflin or a different company, I would tune in without a second's hesitation. Sure, I'd want to see Jim and Dwight and Phyllis and all the rest, but I also take what I can get without getting greedy.

John Krasinski Wants To Work With His Hollywood Family Again

In strict opposition to the slacker character of Jim Halpert, John Krasinski has been a whirlwind of activity in the years since The Office ended. His biggest successes having been winning over horror audiences with A Quiet Pace, and winning over general audiences as the lead in Amazon's Jack Ryan. As far as comedy goes, though, the most prevalent thing he's done since The Office was directing and starring in 2016's somewhat heavy dramedy The Hollars.

With A Quiet Place 2 currently in the works, along with Season 3 of Jack Ryan, John Krasinski likely doesn't have the time to devote to any longform Office continuations. That said, the actor has a deep respect for how the show brought all of the lesser-known talents together and gave them a makeshift family. Though he seemed more down for a one-off special in years past, Kraskinski told EW earlier this year that he would return to the show specifically to work again with that group. In his words:

I have to assume that John Krasinski is talking more about a revival than a reboot proper that doesn't necessarily tie back to the original Office's run. But regardless of what he wants to do, let's just remember that he does want to do it.

Creator Greg Daniels Did Have An Idea For More Office

Every single star from The Office could sign the most ironclad contracts confirming their return to The Office, but it's likely that nothing would happen without the guiding words of the U.S. iteration's creator Greg Daniels, who has also dealt with constant questions about revivals for King of the Hill and Parks and Rec. He's been mostly neutral with positive hints when asked about bringing The Office back, presumably as not to piss anyone off or make potentially empty promises.

Former NBC chief Bob Greenblatt, who currently oversees HBO and more as chairman of WarnerMedia Entertainment, recently revealed in an interview that Greg Daniels had a reboot idea in the running years ago. In Greenblatt's words:

Bob Greenblatt is in some ways like the King Midas of television, having brought in major successes for Fox in the 1990s and for Showtimes during the 2000s. From 2011 until 2019, Greenblatt spearheaded NBC's rise to the top of the ratings game with big hits such as The Voice, This Is Us and the trio of Chicago dramas. It's unfortunately that he wasn't around to continue pushing for more from Dunder Mifflin's elite.

To be fair, Greg Daniels spoke in October about the possibility of returning, and had a slightly less positive take.

He's basically saying that the show would need to only return as a special or a limited series, right? That's what I'm choosing to believe, anyway.

Others Are Also Interested In Seeing The Office Return

Understandably, just about every time someone from The Office gets interviewed about various projects, questions come up about bringing audiences back to Scranton for more. And for the most part, the responses are pretty positive.

For instance, Mindy Kaling told Variety that she would be down to assist Greg Daniels in anything he needed her for.

I guess it's a good thing B.J. Novak was even busier behind the scenes on The Office, or else his character Ryan might be in for some hellacious on-screen situations.

Rainn Wilson, whose Dwight Schrute was a walking meme generator, has also expressed interest in a limited Office return, having told CinemaBlend this:

Considering The Office's final two and a half seasons went without Steve Carrell's Michael Scott, the actor's presence wouldn't be entirely necessary for a reunion special, although it would be desperately wanted by fans. Carrell has been one of the most pessimistic Office vets about trying to bring it back, saying in the past that Michael Scott's inappropriateness wouldn't work as well in today's social climate, and that a story about an inappropriate boss also wouldn't work as well today.

That said, he did give Ellen DeGeneres a delightfully wonky pitch for a way to bring The Office characters back to TV in an unpredictable way.

Hey, if the only way we're going to get more The Office is to have it become a weird single-episode Cheers hybrid, so be it. Alternatively, if NBC wanted to keep putting up videos like the extended Threat Level Midnight video I've definitely seen worse things on TV this year.

So can everyone agree now that the time is right for The Office's creative side to start putting the pieces back in place for a limited-time reunion? It would be an understatement to tell you that actress Ellie Kemper has had a big year. The breakout success of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has turned her into a household name, while Season 2 of the show has become one of the most highly-anticipated upcoming Netflix premieres, and she even recently unveiled secret pregnancy to the world. However, that last one presented something of a challenge during the production of her hit series. During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the former star of NBC's The Office that she had to lie to her Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt co-stars in order to keep her pregnancy a secret while filming the show's second season.

Although Ellie Kemper’s pregnancy did not really have much of an impact on the actual production of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, it did present some problems for a specific scene during which the titular character was supposed to hop on a thrill ride. Understandably concerned about potential health implications of such a stunt, Kemper told Tina Fey – and only Tina Fey – about her pregnancy, causing them to lie and say she had suffered a back injury. After all, think about how strange it would be if Kimmy was just pregnant all of a sudden; I'm sure Titus wouldn't let that kind of a surprise go without making a scene of it.

It used to be that actors did animated films because that was the only work they were typically hired for. All of that changed once Robin Williams let the proverbial genie out of the bottle with his performance in Disney's classic Aladdin, and nowadays animated films are normally stuffed with heavyweight Hollywood names. In the case of The Secret Life Of Pets, Louis CK and Kevin Hart are the anchors, and they've got some interesting back up checking off all of the other boxes.

Courtesy of a report from The Hollywood Reporter, we learned that the recently rescheduled Universal Studios project is not only another one that sees them teaming up with animation studio Illumination Entertainment, it's also attracted the comedic likes of Eric Stonestreet, Ellie Kemper, Bobby Moynihan, and Jenny Slate for starters. As if that wasn't impressive enough, fellow laugh makers Lake Bell and Hannibal Buress have roles in The Secret Life Of Pets as well. But the MVP of the back bench line up happens to be someone with a little bit of experience with animated films, as well as Academy Award nominations: legendary comedian, and star of Finding Nemo, and its sequel, Finding Dory, Albert Brooks.

The Secret Life Of Pets is about, "the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day." In other words, Illumination Entertainment is going back to the old animation well with a movie about objects or organisms that don't normally talk... except when we're not around. Considering the project is being crafted by key members of the same team that made Despicable Me a smash hit back in 2010, there's a good chance this film can overcome the rather overdone plot and become a movie that should stand with its more Minion-heavy compatriots. Considering how original Despicable Me's logline sounded before anyone even caught a glimpse of it, perhaps it's not as easy to judge this one by its concept alone.

Still, animated films are becoming as competitive as blockbuster franchises and tween book phenomenons. Standing shoulder to shoulder with those equally successful genres is no easy feat, and The Secret Life Of Pets will face off against one of the two as it is opening on the same crowded summer day as Star Trek 3. The best chance this film has is the fact that both Louis CK and Kevin Hart are pretty big in the comedy world at this point in time. Hart will draw in the bigger box office crowd at large, while Louis CK stands to reel in the more cynical audience that enjoys his work no matter what the medium. Even with a cast stuffed with funny talent, it won't be a big surprise if we see this project tear a page out of the Dreamworks Animation playbook and shift its release to a date more friendly for potential new properties.

For the moment, The Secret Life Of Pets will be revealed on July 8, 2016. All we're saying is if we were betting people, we'd put a little money on this one changing its plans at least once.

Comedian Amy Schumer is about to become Hollywood’s biggest new female comedy star. Her brand new film Trainwreck - which she also wrote – held a work in progress screening at SXSW this weekend, and the reaction to the movie was overwhelmingly positive, with a wide range of critics, including myself, praising both Schumer’s performance and the new voice she brings to the comedy landscape. But while the actress/stand-up sits on the verge of superstardom, now is as good a time as any to point out that there are many, many gifted women in Hollywood waiting for their moment to shine just as brightly.

But who exactly are these gifted women? That’s truthfully an extremely long list, but we have put together a list of 10 who we would particularly like to see get their own big screen comedies and show what they can really do. Read on to find out our picks!

Kathryn Hahn

Go ahead and try to name a movie with a bad Kathryn Hahn performance. The truth is that you can’t. While the projects she does may not always be of the highest quality, she is always fantastic and has done some amazing character work. Whether she’s acting completely ridiculous like in Step Brothers or playing it more straight like during her time on Parks and Recreation, she has always demonstrated impeccable timing and wit, and deserves the reward of a film to call her own.

Jillian Bell

There was a great deal to love about Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s 22 Jump Street, from its perfectly meta approach to the return of the fantastic Jonah Hill-Channing Tatum chemistry, but it was Jillian Bell as the villainous Mercedes that stole every scene in which she appeared, generating huge laughs with every line. She’s clearly a gifted improviser, and also a double threat, as she also has a background writing for Saturday Night Live.

Aisha Tyler

As much as I love hearing Aisha Tyler voicing the lovely and deadly Lana Kane each week on Archer, her big screen career pretty much baffles me. Despite being hilarious, smart, talented and gorgeous, she hasn’t actually been in a film since 2012’s The Babymakers - and even that was just a limited supporting role. Hollywood should not only be giving Tyler more feature parts, but also really needs to start throwing some leads her way.

Maya Rudolph

It was Melissa McCarthy who wound up getting the most significant big screen career bump of the supporting cast featured in Paul Feig’s Bridesmaids, but like the aforementioned Ellie Kemper, it’s a shame that Maya Rudolph hasn’t gotten more film leads in that movie’s wake. She’s a legit Saturday Night Live veteran with a solid filmography (including a co-lead in Sam Mendes’ Away We Go) and deserves a shot to carry her own comedy.

Ellie Kemper

If there’s one word that can be used to describe Ellie Kemper, it’s "delightful." She spent years charming us on The Office, and while she is currently the lead of her very own television show – the fantastic Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - I’m going to be greedy on her behalf and say that she deserves a leading lady career on the big screen as well. She has a unique brand of charisma that never fails to be charming, and it deserves the biggest stage possible.

Casey Wilson

Casey Wilson got a nice bit of big screen exposure last year playing a well-placed pawn in the plot of David Fincher’s Gone Girl, but she definitely deserves a moment in the spotlight to highlight her comedic gifts. Admittedly her recent effort Ass Backwards - which she co-wrote didn’t go over so well with critics, but her time on Happy Endings shows that she can be fantastic with the right material, and deserves a big time shot.

Niecy Nash

Niecy Nash has been very busy on the small screen lately, preparing to star in the third season of Getting On while also playing a role in the new horror comedy series Scream Queens, but at some point in her schedule it would be great to see Hollywood give her a shot with a leading role. After all, she’s been in this business for 20 years now, has a fanbase thanks to her extensive TV work, and most definitely has the talent.

Jenny Slate

Admittedly, Jenny Slate already has some lead actress experience, as she was the main character in last year’s critically-acclaimed indie Obvious Child, but it’s time for a major studio to bank on her in the same way that Universal Pictures banked on Amy Schumer. Slate has not only proven herself to be ridiculously funny, but has also demonstrated legitimate range that is necessary to carry an entire narrative.

Chelsea Peretti

To go along with her successful career as a stand-up, Chelsea Peretti currently has a great gig on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but amazingly has not yet had a movie role, let alone a leading part in a feature. Like many of the other actresses on this list, in addition to acting she also has an extensive resume as a writer, so all she really may need to do is find the right director with whom she can collaborate.

Kate McKinnon

Kate McKinnon is a full-blown weirdo. Often times, her sensibilities skew toward the bizarre, but in her best moments, she finds the perfect blend of human and eccentric, mining the space between our weird impulses and the bad habits we all have. She’s fearless, brilliant and probably the odds on favorite to steal Ghostbusters out from under her more famous co-stars. She’s one of the most talented cast members SNL has had in years, and someday, American will fall in love.

Netflix is becoming kind of known for swooping in and rescuing cancelled series, but the situation involving Tina Fey's new comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a bit different, as this half-hour comedy about a doomsday cult escapee wasn't technically cancelled by NBC and hasn't even aired yet. But it's already found a new home and an extra season over at Netflix.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt stars Ellie Kemper as a woman who escapes a doomsday cult and sets out for a new start in New York. See Kemper above doing the classic "welcome to the big city" wide-eyed taxi cab pose. She's even wearing butterflies and flowers on her sweater, so you know she's going to fit right in.

So, how did Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt go from TBD at NBC to March 2015 at Netflix? Here's what happened - Last year NBC gave Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt a straight-to-series 13-episode order. At that time, we already knew that it was coming from 30 Rock's Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, and that The Office's adorable Ellie Kemper was lined up to star as the titular character.

That was over a year ago, though, and where's the series? It's listed on NBC's site as coming soon and that presumably means Midseason 2015, but it's possible NBC wasn't even so sure about that. Occasionally, new TV shows -- particularly comedies -- get ordered but pushed down the schedule until they're eventually cast into Spring-Summer (where TV comedy's don't tend to flourish) and cancellation is inevitable. It's possible this would've been Kimmy's fate, though NBC may have planned to air it sooner. We can only speculate.

Cut to today when Netflix announces that they're not only set to premiere Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt globally in March 2015, but they've also ordered a second season. Exactly how this deal went down obviously isn't laid out in specifics, but NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt's comments shed some light on the situation...

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt isn't just an NBC show. It's produced by Universal Television, which is owned by NBC Universal. So maybe this decision came down what's actually in the best interest of the series, which in this case might be to put it at Netflix where it's guaranteed at least two seasons. That's a promise NBC likely isn't able to make to the comedy. The Peacock hasn't been hugely successful with comedies in recent years. (Bad Judge and A to Z can attest to that.)

It's definitely an interesting scenario, particularly if the show turns out to be really good -- judging by the talent involved, odds are in its favor -- and with NBC's struggle to get their comedies to hit in recent (and ok, less recent) years, Netflix may very well be Kimmy's best option.

Every year, millions of people descend on Las Vegas, hell bent on having a damn good time. For some, that involves trying (and usually failing) to take money from the casino. For others, that involves clubbing, getting hammered, seeing Penn and Teller, going to a strip club, and/or screaming VEGAS!!!! at unreasonable volumes. The key to Las Vegas is that it can be damn near anything to anyone. It offers a seventy-two hour or so timeout from real life. Everywhere an observer looks, there are overt signs of tourists having unreasonable amounts of fun.

The latest film to riff off this expectation of fun is Last Vegas. Starring Morgan Freeman, Robert DeNiro, Michael Douglas and Kevin Kline, the PG-13 comedy seems to follow four old dudes who want to turn back the clock and have another misadventure before getting too fucking old for hijinks, I think. I haven’t exactly seen it, but based on the mediocre trailer and the meh minus reviews, I’m pretty confident we’re in for an older quartet working their way through all the Vegas-y things we’ve come to expect and trying desperately not to die. That sounds inoffensive and probably passable enough, but it doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel.

I want to see a Vegas movie that defies expectations and goes a little stranger (like The Cooler). I want to see one that tackles one of the more secretive, bummer subplots bubbling beneath the Sin City surface and crying out for its own film. I want to see a movie about the one-time gangster paradise that has the courage to tone it down and fixate on the more monotonous and seemingly boring aspects of Las Vegas vacations and local life. I want to see one of these six films.

The Tiredness That Comes With Getting Drunk Too Early

Starring: Dane DeHaan as "Tired" Ted Murphy and Miles Teller and Donald Glover as his very awake, right level of drunk friends Trevor and Salamander.

Going to Las Vegas is a lot like tailgating as a college student before a big football game. There is alcohol everywhere, and without any obligations owed to the real world for at least a day, there is always a temptation to dive in DuckTales style into one of those huge Fat Tuesday's drinks. On the one hand, hitting the bottle early can prove a great way to spice up 11 AM and make afternoon craps games a whole lot less awkward. On the other hand, it can also torpedo your entire night, as our hero Tired Ted discovers when he realizes, much to his horror, that all he really wants to do is go to bed at 9 PM on a Saturday.

Unfortunately, there’s no easy solution to this predicament. His loud, obnoxious and right level of drunk (for Vegas) friends Trevor and Salamander (pronounced SAL-A-MANDDDDDDDER) are planning to go until at least 3 AM, and it’s too late in the game to take a nap. So, rather than hear his sleepiness get referenced for the rest of their friendship, Tired Ted heroically decides to tough it out and plow forward, all while encountering second winds, red bulls and a hooker played by Gabourey Sidibe who claims her sexual energy could wake up coma patients.

The Horrible Drive Back To LA

Starring: Rob Corddry as Mike McDougal, Judy Greer as Melinda McDougal and Maggie Elizabeth Jones as Melissa McDougal

Mike McDougal lives in Los Angeles and has some disposable income. That means once a year or so, he’s culturally obligated to throw a few button down shirts, his wife and a big pile of cash (fuck paying Vegas ATM fees) into his Prius and drive nine miles an hour over the speed limit through the desert on the 15 and into Las Vegas. This year, on his wife’s insistence, he agrees to bring along their seven-year-old daughter, but thanks to her obsession with seeing the sharks at Mandalay Bay, the proposed leaving time of 10 AM winds up getting pushed back to 2:30 PM, which as any Los Angeles resident knows is a World War II level disaster.

Stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic for two hundred and seventy miles, alongside a wife who really wants to make it home in time for The Good Wife, which she may have forgotten to DVR, and a daughter who can’t stop talking about how much she hates one of her first grade classmates (that stupid Alyssa), poor Mike is nearing his breaking point, especially given the twenty-three-year-old asshole behind him in the Beamer who seems to think honking will implore his fellow drivers to move faster. He knows if he lets his wife and daughter have it, he’ll eat death glares for the next six or seven hours, but he has to do something to break out of this funk. So, he does what any sensible middle-aged man who gives zero fucks would do: he takes to the shoulder and decides to gun it in hopes he can make it at least halfway back before getting the ticket he knows is coming.

How Easy It Is To Get Lost Inside Caesar's Palace

Starring: Anna Kendrick as Rebecca, Ellie Kemper as Megyn, Lauren Ambrose as Jackie and Katrina Bowden as their idiot friend Beth.

Fresh off the plane and ready to put down their shit, no-nonsense Minneapolis girls Rebecca, Megyn and Jackie are excited to check into their suite at Caesar’s Palace and reconnect with their absent-minded friend Beth who recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue modeling. Unfortunately, they’re told by the woman at the counter that Beth already checked into the room but left a note indicating a) she has all the room keys, b) her cell phone is charging in the room and c) she’ll be waiting somewhere inside the mall at Caesar’s Palace for them to arrive.

Shot in real time, Lost In Caesar’s Palace follows our three heroes as they wander through the mall inside the gigantic Vegas hotel looking for their friend and more importantly, the room keys she possesses. At first in awe of the stunning architecture and painted ceilings, the ladies grow progressively more annoyed as they criss-cross in every which direction looking for their idiot friend in what could be the most confusing maze on Earth. Through shopping detours, horrible directions from drunk idiots and the occasional scream, they learn a little bit about life and absolutely nothing about the best way to navigate Caesar’s Palace.

Those Creepy Hooker Tickets People Hand Out

Starring: Tonita Castro as Rosa, Jaime Pressly as Shanelle, Ving Rhames as Legs, Teck "Money" Holmes as Ray Ray and Nick Offerman as The High Roller

Every night, hundreds of thousands of advertisements for prostitutes are dropped on the streets of Las Vegas. By the time tourists wake up with hangovers the next morning, all of those creepy little cards that range in rating from PG-13 to NC-17 are gone thanks to workers like Rosa and Ray Ray. Ordinarily, the two simply throw out all of the discarded advertisements, but thanks to a chance encounter, there’s a whole lot more at stake today.

Sometime around 3:30 AM, the High Roller, drunk as a skunk, met his dream woman, a prostitute who goes by a name that starts with an "s". She wrote down her number on one of those cards and passed it along, but in his hammered state, he dropped it somewhere on Las Vegas Boulevard between the Venetian and Paris. He wants it back and is willing to pay anyone who finds it a thousand dollars. Rosa and Ray Ray combine forces to take up the challenge, but they’ve got some competition in the form of Legs, a street performance artist who overhears the High Roller’s offer and decides to get that money for himself.

Mean Mugging Sales Clerks At The Expensive Malls

Starring: Evan Rachel Wood as Beatrice, Nina Dobrev as Ariel and Teresa Palmer as the girl in the Target dress.

As employees inside Marni at Crystals, Beatrice and Ariel spend their days talking about their shared desire to move to Europe and the various shoppers who walk around the mall, an overwhelming majority of which can afford Starbucks, Pinkberry and little else in the immediate vicinity. Now and again, the ladies grow bored and actively try to coax women inside as a means to break up the crushing boredom of their eight-hour workdays, but more often, they sit near the window, judging and mean mugging any less than affluent-looking window shopper who gazes inside.

On her way into the store, the girl in the Target dress felt the sting of the mean mug, but that didn’t stop her from spending a healthy chunk of money and surprising the cashiers who thought they knew it all. Infatuated and obsessed with knowing how she has so much confidence, the two girls begin hanging out with the stranger and in the process, start learning a slew of details that are enough to completely upend their once judgmental worldviews. Look for this one to get some early Oscar buzz before slowly fizzling out by awards season.

Loud Eurotrash Neighbors

Starring: Paul Giamatti as Michael Brown, Catherine Keener as Leslie Brown, Alexander Skarsgard as Bjorg and Benedict Cumberbatch as Reginald

An overwhelming majority of Las Vegas visitors choose to do their partying at clubs, inside casinos or just generally, out and about somewhere. A small minority, however, choose to treat their hotel rooms like European raves. Meet Bjorg and Reginald. They’re a newly married gay couple from Sweden/ Luxembourg on their honeymoon in Vegas. They love nothing more than playing their music loud, much to the chagrin of neighbors Michael and Leslie Brown who prefer to turn in around eleven.

Scheduled to stay in adjoining hotel rooms for the next six nights, Michael and Catherine decide to do everything they can to smoke their fellow travelers out, at least until they learn Reginald will soon begin working as an admissions offer at Duke, the same college the Brown’s daughter has her heart set on attending. So, with the help of some strong liquor and good intentions, they decide to take one for the team and befriend the Europeans in an effort to eventually get a leg up in the highly competitive admissions process. Be on the lookout for a great cameo from Anton Yelchin who plays Bjorg’s much younger former lover Evgeny and for several DJ sets from former Jersey Shore star Pauly D.

With the upcoming comedy Sex Tape gearing up for production it's starting to put all of its pieces in place - and that means lining up a supporting cast. Earlier this week we learned that Parks and Recreation star Rob Lowe had joined the film and today The Wrap is reporting that another member of the NBC sitcom family is joining the project. Ellie Kemper, who starred as Erin the secretary in the final years of The Office, has officially signed on for the movie.

Directed by Bad Teacher's Jake Kasdan and based on an original screenplay by Kate Angelo, the story centers on a married couple (played by Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz) who realize that their relationship has hit a rut. When they are able to get the kids out of the house they try to mix things up a little bit by making a sex tape - but this plan goes horribly awry when the "footage is accidentally synched to a handful of other devices...including her mother’s and the mailman’s." The duo then set out on a mission to try and destroy all of the copies of the tape. As the script went through pre-production revisions were made by Segel, Kasdan and Nicholas Stoller, who was originally attached to direct before being forced to drip out due to scheduling issues.

The source doesn't say what role Kemper will play in the story, but Lowe will be playing the CEO on a toy company while, as we previously reported, comedian Rob Corddry is attached to play a loyal friend of the couple. Jack Black is said to have a role in the movie as well, but to reveal his part might be a bit too spoiler-y.

Weirdly enough this actually isn't the first time that Kemper has been in a project about a sex tape gone wrong. A couple years before she became a regular on The Office she starred in a short called "Blowjob" made by Derrick Comedy (the sketch group created by Donald Glover. Dominic Dierkes, and DC Pierson). You can watch it in the embed below.

In addition to her role in Sex Tape, Kemper will also soon be seen alongside Keira Knightley in Lynn Shelton's Laggies and also will be voicing a character in the upcoming animated Mr. Peabody and Sherman. Kasdan's comedy, meanwhile will be going into production soon and will be in theaters next year just in time for the Independence Day holiday, set to be released by Columbia Pictures on Wednesday July 2nd, 2014.

Last winter, prospects for Ellie Kemper to find work after The Office ended seemed pretty great. The actress was busy putting together a pilot called Brenda Forever and she had numerous guest stints on her plate. However, NBC hasn’t moved forward with Brenda Forever at this juncture, and Kemper won’t even be popping up in that highly-touted episode of How I Met Your Mother we told you about just last month. Now, she’s being replaced by Pitch Perfect actress Anna Camp.

Camp has signed on to take over as Cassie, a young woman who is set to appear in (at least) one episode of HIMYM’s ninth and final season. Cassie is described as single and attractive, but also unfortunate. In the episode, Cassie will meet Ted, who quickly discovers just how unfortunate the young woman is. TV Line first reported the news about Camp replacing Kemper, noting that Kemper had a scheduling conflict that will keep her from appearing on CBS’ half-hour comedy.

I suppose fans of Kemper’s brand of comedy should be excited that she is so busy she won’t be able to appear on HIMYM (maybe this means that Brenda Forever is getting a second chance at NBC!), but it is a little bittersweet to hear she won’t be popping up for at least one episode. Luckily, Camp is a pretty capable actress and should be able to fill Kemper’s shoes quite easily.

Anna Camp has seemed to be everywhere these days, or maybe I’m just watching too much True Blood. Either way, her comedic sensibilities and over-the-top flair for drama should make her a perfect fit for a guest stint on How I Met Your Mother. While we know she won’t be playing the titular mother in the series, TV Line is noting that the actress could theoretically pop up in more than one episode next season, which means her performance is something fans should look forward to.

Season 9 of How I Met Your Mother will have a fairly unique format. The full-season will take place over the course of just one weekend, and will follow the wedding of Barney and Robin, as well as the inevitable introduction of Ted and his soon-to-be bride. I’m sure the meet cute will be the plotline fans are most excited for, but since HIMYM will last for 24 episode this coming TV season, there are going to need to be plenty of other filler stories to keep things moving forward.

CBS’ How I Met Your Mother returns to the schedule on Monday, September 23 at 8 p.m. ET.

It’s hard to believe that How I Met Your Mother is gearing up for its final season on CBS. The long-running comedy has a few epic events in store for fans in the season after the show has finally given us a sneak peek at the mother. The entire season will span the length of Robin and Barney’s wedding and a few big names have already signed on to be a part of the epic event. Now, The Office’s Ellie Kemper has signed on to guest star in one of the final season episodes of the hit show.

Kemper has signed on to play Cassie, an attractive and single young woman. According to TV Line, her character is also described as “unfortunate” and when Cassie meets Ted sometime during the tenure of Robin and Barney’s season-long wedding, he learns about each of her aforementioned traits all too quickly. The actress is currently only signed on for the one episode, which is a bit of a shame, since Kemper is such a great comedic presence.

How I Met Your Mother isn’t the only guest starring role Kemper has in the pipeline for the upcoming TV season. She’s also going to lend her voice to Season 9 of the hit program, American Dad!, which is moving to TBS a little over a year from now. All of these guest roles should bring this sort of look to the actress’ face.

However, they are more likely to bring this sort of look to Kemper’s face, considering what the actress is missing out on.

Kemper was initially signed on to Brenda Forever this spring at NBC. The pilot would have followed Kemper’s character at age 13 and 31 and would have been a pretty unique setup for a comedy, but unfortunately, the show isn’t moving forward for a fall premiere on the network (although the pilot hasn't explicitly been given the boot). Still, I’m sure the actress would much rather be starring in her own vehicle than taking the occasional guest role.

Luckily, HIMYM should be a fun gig. Kemper is signed on to guest star with Wayne Brady, who has played Barney’s brother on the hit series in the past, and Cristin Milioti, who is signed on to play the titular mother. How I Met Your Mother’s final season will begin airing on CBS on Monday, September 23 at 8 p.m. ET.

Days ahead of the start of the major network upfronts, NBC has made a bit more room in their 2013-2014 line-up by deciding not to renew their freshman soap Deception for a second season. And from the sound of it, they won't be filling the space with another primetime soap, as the Peacock has reportedly passed on the modern-day Hatfields & McCoys drama that was in contention among the pilots in development this season.

Created by Liz Heldens, Deception starred Meagan Good as Detective Joanna Locasto, a cop who returns to the wealthy household of her childhood best friend when said friend, Vivian Bowers, is found dead in a motel room. Wanting to get to the bottom of her old friend's death, Joanna returns to the drama she once left behind in an effort to reacquaint herself with Vivian's family. TVLine says their sources say NBC has cancelled the show.

I thought the drama had potential but I'll admit, I didn't stick with it beyond the first handful of episodes or so. I wasn't alone either. The series' viewership dropped from the 5.66 million who tuned in for the premiere, to a little over 3 million for the series' final episode, which aired in March and wrapped up the drama before The Voice and Revolution returned.

In other NBC news, the modern-day Hatfields and McCoys pilot in development for NBC is not going forward. THR says the pilot was passed over at the network. The pilot starred Rebecca De Mornay, Virginia Madsen and Dexter's James Remar and followed the descendants of the Hatfields and McCoys, two legendary feuding families who evidently know how to hold a grudge. Maybe the pilot didn't come out good, or perhaps the lackluster ratings for Deception has NBC wary of taking a chance on another soapy drama.

Also Passed over are Brenda Forever, starring Ellie Kemper (The Office), Drop-Off (formerly The Gates) starring Ken Marino (Party Down, Veronica Mars), Holding Patterns starring Erinn Hayes, Joe & Joe & Jane starring Dave Annable, Will Greenberg and Sally Pressman, and drama Bloodline. We'll find out which pilots NBC did greenlight to series next week when they announce their line-up at the upfronts.

Update: Deadline says The Sixth Gun joins the list of pilots not going forward at NBC, along with The Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives.

The Office is very close to ending its lengthy run on NBC, and many of the actors and actresses involved with the peacock network's comedy have already tied their sails to new projects. Brenda Kemper has signed on for the lead in NBC’s Brenda Forever pilot, but apparently, she still has the time to do voicework for Fox’s comedy, American Dad.

Kemper has signed on to do voice work in Season 9 of American Dad, playing a character named Jenna. TV Line first broke the news, noting that Jenna is both popular and pretty and like many school-aged girls, is super into her boyfriend. This is heartbreaking for Steve (Scott Grimes), who has been in love with Jenna since they began school together in Kindergarten. We’ll have to see if his love for Jenna ever buds into something more between the two characters.

The American Dad role won’t be Kemper’s first in the animated world. The talented actress has also lent her vocal skills to Robot Chicken and Sofia the First, so she should be pretty comfortable with the job this time around. It will be a while before we get to hear Kemper take a crack at voice work in American Dad, but at least we’ll be able to catch her in The Office for a while longer, with the finale for that comedy set to air on May 16.

American Dad runs as part of Fox’s animated lineup on Sunday nights at 9:30 p.m. ET.

It seemed impossible that anyone could come into Dunder Mifflin and properly fill Pam's vacated reception chair. And then Ellie Kemper's Erin showed up, sweet, vulnerable and somehow sadly hilarious as she was, she managed to fill a gap among the staff and within the comedy that we never knew existed. With the series wrapping up, it wouldn't be especially surprising to learn that Kemper might be ready to pursue more feature roles, especially when you consider the success of some of the recent films in which she's appeared (Bridesmaids, 21 Jump Street). But she may be sticking around the small screen after all.

EW reports that Kemper has signed on for the lead in Brenda Forever, a comedy pilot on the works for NBC. Written by David Lampson and Andrew Leeds, the premise sounds like it should be a great fit for someone like Kemper:

Lampson and Leeds are executive producing, along with Peter Tolan (Rescue Me) and Michael Wimer.

The Office's cast is brimming with talent, and we'll hopefully be seeing more from all of the cast after the NBC comedy wraps up its final season this year. Meanwhile, this pilot sounds like a great fit for Kemper, who has not only demonstrated her comedic talent in more than one project, but has also proven she knows how to play awkward and adorable really well. It'll be interesting to see who else is cast in this comedy, including the young Brenda. In the meantime, we'll keep our fingers crossed that things work out well for this project moving forward.

One of the toughest parts about having a regular role on a television show is scheduling. While having a steady paycheck acting is something that a lot of people dream about, those also wanting to pursue a career in film have to wait until a hiatus in order to fit them in. Case in point, exactly what Ellie Kemper is doing now.

With The Office playing its season finale a few weeks ago, Kemper has signed on for a part in Phil Lord and Chris Miller's 21 Jump Street, according to Variety. Though she could probably pass for a student, the actress will play a chemistry teacher named Ms. Griggs who finds herself attracted to Channing Tatum's character only to discover that he's an undercover cop. The film also stars Jonah Hill, Brie Larson, Ice Cube, Rob Riggle, Dave Franco, Johnny Simmons, Dakota Johnson, Jake M. Johnson and DeRay Davis and is currently in production. 21 Jump Street is set to be released on March 16, 2012.

While I think this could be great and that Kemper is a perfect choice for this kind of part, I still think that the movie is asking a lot of its audience by making us believe that anybody could think Channing Tatum is still in high school. The guy is in his 30s and over six feet tall. Unless they are approaching it from either the "transfer student that's been kept back for 10 years" or "Billy Madison" angle, it might be a problem.

Whether you know her as Erin on The Office, the girl from that Derrick Comedy sketch, or even as Jamie from the movie Mystery Team, it’s no secret that she’s one of the brightest up-and-coming comediennes. Exceptionally skilled at playing aloof and innocent, next week Kemper will be hitting the big screen next week alongside some of the funniest women acting today.

Last week, I was granted the fantastic opportunity to sit down one-on-one with Ellie Kemper to not only talk about the film, but also the departure of Steve Carell from The Office (the interview actually took place the day after the episode “Goodbye, Michael” aired). Discussing both career changing events, she talked to me about the amount of improvisation on set, the difficulty of getting through her major scene with Steve, and missing Jon Hamm, who used to be her high school drama teacher. Check out the interview below!

First of all I just need to say that I absolutely loved the movie.

That is so nice of you. I just saw it for the first time last night. I love how it came out!

You can tell just from the trailers that there must have been a lot of improvisation. When you’re actually on set, do you have any idea what’s actually gonna be kept and what’s not?

I know! That’s what I was curious to see because I do feel like the movie could have gone a number of different ways depending on what they decided to keep in and what they decided to take out. And there was so much improvisation and it was so encouraged that it was really, I mean everything, I think we did some takes as scripted, but it was so welcomed, like, everyone’s input, everyone’s thoughts on that. So yeah, I think, and I know just mostly form reading about it from other films that Judd lets the camera keep going and that’s a nice luxury to have, to be able to do different ideas of things.

Were you coming up with stuff on your own, were you taking notes?

Yeah, absolutely. I think a little bit beforehand the writers, directors, producers said, you know, if you have any ideas, if you think of jokes, whatever it is, you know, talk to us, send it to us. Which, I’m not a movie veteran but I haven’t heard of that happening to actors and it was really nice to have that. But I also think within the scene, on the day we were actually shooting it, ideas that would come to you, we would just say something and if it worked it would stay in there. I found that a number of times last night, it was exciting.

I love the fact that you can watch the trailer for the movie and then when you’re watching the actual final cut it’s just different, you’re not waiting for those trailer moments.

Exactly, my mom was saying that. She’s like, well wait a second, I saw that in the trailer but I didn’t see it in the movie. I know, it was all, it could have gone a number of ways.

Just to start from the inception, how did you come to the project? Did you go after it? Did they come after you?

Yeah, well you tell me, I don’t know how anything ever works but I know Alison Jones, she did the casting for the movie, I knew her from The Office, she does casting for that, so I knew her and I knew Paul Feig because he had worked on The Office, he had directed an episode, so I knew him. I had not met Kristin or Annie before and then, so that’s the part that I never know how that stuff happens but I went into an audition for it and then I got to work on it. That was so incredible. I didn’t even know that most of them had worked together at Groundlings, of the actresses anyway, and I was really lucky to be a part of it. I look at other movies and I’m like, “Wow, I got a really good movie.”

I just want to talk about, also, the broad scope of the movie. It’s really a female driven comedy that actually is truly hysterical, it reaches to all people. How does it feel to be a part of that?

I know. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and I think that in TV more you see more things that are sort of driven by strong female characters, especially in terms of comedy. I think you see that more on television than in movies, until this point, these days I mean. That’s why it’s so, without sounding sappy, like special about this is it’s called Bridesmaids, it is about women. But I think that it is something that, not to go back on what I just said, but I don’t really think of it as, like, Oh, it’s female leads, it’s just a funny movie. And luckily it has a lot of female stars.

Talking with Paul Feig earlier, it sounded as though there were a lot of changes made to the script from the first draft to what is coming to theaters. Did that apply to the character of Becca as well?

Yes and no. Wendy was just telling me that she had been at a table read of this movie, like, five years ago so I have no idea how long this has been going on. But I think that from when I auditioned for it until actually shooting it, I don’t feel like there were too many changes to Becca’s character. I feel like she was always sort of naïve, sort of inexperienced, narrow-viewed not because she’s an evil person but because she hasn’t lived very extensively. I don’t think that that changed too much, which is fun to play.

That’s actually something I wanted to talk to you about. Do you see her as just being naïve or do you think she’s kind of a dim-bulb?

See I don’t think, well I heard Betty White say this about her character on Golden Girls, she was naïve, that Rose Nylund was naïve but she wasn’t dumb. It’s really the same thing about Becca, because I don’t think that she is dumb. I think that she maybe is simple, has simple tastes, and hasn’t seen anything too different from what is in her immediate circle, and her immediate circle is, like, marriage and family and very traditional choices, which, that is fine to make those choices, but also you have to be aware of other things too.

I kind of had this image in my mind of Jamie from Mystery Team, Erin from Office, and Becca from Bridesmaids kind of going in a Jeopardy match.

And Ellie, perhaps, in real life. I was thinking of that line-up and, not even thinking of Jamie from Mystery Team

Which I love, by the way.

Oh yay! That was a funny movie! I guess she’s more on the farce spectrum. But I do think I had seen similarities between Erin and Becca for sure, and in terms of that like, I don’t know if that is something I am putting out there as a person myself, or what. But I think that these two characters are sort of similar. You know what though, if I had to put them in a Jeopardy match, I think Erin would win. It would be a tough match, but I think Erin thinks a little more outside the box. But they’re equally naïve. In a naiveté contest, it would be tough to say who would win.

Actually I do want to talk a little bit about The Office. Last night’s episode was kind of a monumental deal. Did you watch it last night?

We got back home, I got home from the party and I was like, okay, I’m gonna watch the Royal Wedding and The Office, and I didn’t make it through either. I have not actually seen the final cut of it yet and I will tell you, in a weird way, I’m a little hesitant to watch it. I think because, you know, it is the final, I will be sort of the last time, well I’m aware that I can watch reruns. But we shot it, we filmed it, I was like okay. I’m acting like I’ve been on it forever but I’ve only been on for two years. It was really super sad, he’s incredible. And it really hit me when we went to shoot our last scene that I was not expecting this. I was like, you know, they knock on your door and they’re like, “Ellie, ten minutes until your scene.” And then I just started balling. I was so embarrassed too, because I did not want to cry in front of him. I am totally going off on a rant, but it’s sad that he’s gone, but it’s exciting. We’ll see what happens.

Yeah, I did want to ask you about that bench scene, and just saying, like, how emotional it was at the time when you were filming it.

That was, I, whatever acting I do know, I was like now that isn’t acting. I just remember, because in “Secretary’s Day,” this episode where Erin and Michael sort of first bond, and then on that bench, Mindy wrote it again, it was on that bench again, I think also as a person, it’s like, oh, Steve Carell is this master. Anyway, just on sort of a personal note, it was sad.

Also I noticed, because I was also preparing for my interviews today, and it said Paul Feig was actually the director. So how far after you had completed Bridesmaids was it? Had you kept in touch?

Yeah. I had seen him, you know, I guess I hadn’t seen him for a while. I guess I had seen him at ADR sessions, but we wrapped Bridesmaids in August. But yeah, I saw him at, you know, ADR sessions but not really until he came back to direct the last episode. And that was, he’s fantastic, he knows he’s good. He has such a specific idea, he knows what he needs. I was so happy he got to come back to direct that episode. That was sentimental.

So Erin’s relationship with Gabe is kind of interesting now, particularly after what happened at the Dundies, so I’m kind of curious both about that dynamic and what’s going to happen with Andy.

I know. I’m trying to think of, to make sure I don’t get myself in trouble, I’m always scared I’m going to get fired if I leak something, but I loved, I thought it was so weird and typical of Erin to break up with her boyfriend over a microphone. And again, I don’t think she’s an evil person, she just doesn’t think how things will come across. I know in the episode last night that Gabe is trying to get her back for some unknown reason, because she’s driven herself to be a bit of a weirdo, but he’s in. I think that I was sort of hoping this would happen, I was secretly hoping that Erin would be kind of disappointed in love, because it’s sort of more interesting to play, rather than it be a happy ending. So without going into details, I’ll just say that I hope that she takes this opportunity to maybe learn more about her own self and become more of an adult. Because at this point, it’s a tricky thing because she came two years ago and, well I’m talking about her in the third person, I do think that going through that thing with Andy last season, like, there was, she wanted some stuff there. But she’s sort of been, like, strangely enough she’s been romantically linked to someone in the office almost since she got there. So I don’t think it would be a bad thing for her to be totally single. But I don’t know what’s gonna happen.

You’ve filmed episodes since Steve Carell?

Yeah.

How has that experience been? Is it harder?

For me! Because you know what, I have separation anxiety. I do! My parents would go out of town and I’d be like, “No!” So it is sort of like Dad’s gone. That sort of thing is sad, but you suddenly, we had a two-week break after the last episode, so it was a nice transition, you know like, okay, adjust to the grief. Coming back has been weird, we’re done shooting for the season now, but it was, you know, someone’s missing. It’s just a natural, I think like, development. Things are changing, we all have each other. I’m acting like someone died, he didn’t die.

Well actually that’s kind of what’s weird about it. You really, watching the show, you really feel like he’s moving to Colorado and you feel like you’re just never going to see him again.

That’s what I keep saying. I mean I don’t know, I’m wondering, I’m like pretty sure you can just bring him back. Because it’s weird. And I think in one of the, I can’t remember which episode it was, but there’s like a reference to someone having spoken with Michael that day and I’m like, “Oh he is still alive!” It’s not really, it doesn’t seem like anyone’s gonna keep in touch with him that much. But I hope he comes back, just for like, a visit to Scranton, I think that’s possible. I don’t know. I told you I have separation anxiety!

I think the entire audience cried last night in that last scene, are you kidding?

Oh my god. Jim and Michael, shooting that. I was just in the background and I was like, Ellie, you can’t ruin the scene by crying in the background. But just hearing them, and you know, snot starts coming out of your knows. I hope that’s good, it’s a nice thing to be able to cry.

Also I heard that the season finale is an insane cast line up, how was that experience?

I know, but you know what? I almost feel like, I’m thrilled, I didn’t get to meet everyone who was there because of schedules, but that whole parade of amazing actors who came in.

Who did you get to meet?

Will Arnett, who I thought, you know how you think you know someone but you actually don’t? But you’ve like seen them? So Will Arnett, James Spader was there, Jim Carrey was there, right, that’s out?

Yeah, that’s out.

Okay, good. Because I guess that was a secret and I didn’t know it was and then my mom told me and I was like, “Mom, how did you know?” Okay anyway. And then, Ricky Gervais, who I met at the Emmys a year ago. I went up to him and said, “Oh, I play, I’m new on the show.” And he thought that I had said, I found this out later, he didn’t hear me, he thought I said, “I’m you on the show!” So he thought I was like an insane fan. “I’m YOU on the show!” Anyway, I didn’t see him when he was shooting anything. And Catherine Tate I didn’t get to meet. She was there for a morning before my call time so I didn’t get to meet her. And who am I forgetting? Who else was there? Oh my gosh Ray Romano! Who was so, I don’t want to say adorable because that sounds patronizing, but he was. He was like, “I’m nervous,” I was like, “I don’t know what you have to be nervous about.”

Another one of the biggest shows of all time.

I know! Right. I was like, I think you have some idea of what you’re doing.

Getting back to Bridesmaids, while I was researching last night, I found out that Jon Hamm was actually a teacher of yours, which is kind of so weird. For one, I know you didn’t share any scenes together, but did you spend any time together on set?

Why do I keep missing everybody? No time. Because he was, all of his scenes were mostly with Kristin so I never saw him. And I in fact didn’t even find out that he was gonna be in it, I saw it on IMDB and I was like, “He’s in it!? My high school’s going to go crazy!” He is so nice because, I get worried because I hope he doesn’t think I mention that he taught me, but he did and he’s so nice about it. And he’s like, you know, in addition to being a fantastic actor, he’s like this hero of St Louis. So, no, I didn’t get to see him in filming.

Have you seen each other since then?

I saw him last night at the premiere. And again, he’s so nice to me, he’s always so nice to my mom which of course, he’s just a class act. But seeing him, that was such a, I love that they opened up that movie with, like...

Yeah, the sex scene.

But it’s so perfect. It’s like every woman’s, well I’m revealing too much, but that’s like, what a wonderful fantasy, and then that’s the first scene.
