Evangeline Lilly is known for playing badass characters. That's evidenced by her stint as Kate as part of the cast of Lost and her role as Hope van Dyne a.k.a. the Wasp in the Ant-Man movies. The last few years have seen the Canadian star stepping away from acting, though and, just recently, she got candid about experiencing a traumatic brain injury. Now, Lilly is providing an update after initially sharing that information with her fans.

In May 2025, Evangeline Lilly posted on her Substack that she “fainted at the beach” and hit her head on a boulder. Earlier this month, she posted to Instagram to share that she experienced brain damage due to the accident. As Lilly put it, her brain was “functioning at a decreased capacity” as a result. That revelation was met with support from fans and stars alike and, in her latest IG post, Lilly thanked them for their “well wishes and advice.” Lilly felt like she owed it to her followers to update them on her TBI and also said:

I see exactly where the Real Steel actress is coming from. Quite frankly, it's unfortunate that she had to experience such an injury in the first place. However, as she explained, the silver lining to the injury is that it’s an “opportunity” for medical professionals to find the deep root of her health issues and even possibly help her improve her cognitive functions. More of Evangeline Lilly’s initial Substack post included details about how her blackouts weren’t a recent discovery. In fact, she’s had these unexplained blackouts since childhood. While the doctors originally thought the TV star had hypoglycemia, the diagnosis was ruled out when it was determined her glucose levels stayed normal after her fainting spells. However, Lilly concluded that she was grateful for the blackouts in that they gave her the chance to “reset” herself.

Other Marvel stars have also dealt with health scares. A prime example was when Jeremy Renner almost died after getting run over by his snowplow in 2023. Renner's been candid about that matter and has since recovered. Also, in 2025, Tom Holland “cracked his head” on the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day after a stunt went wrong. Thankfully, Holland has since assured fans that he's doing well.

While TBI is far from an ideal situation, it’s beautiful that Evangeline Lilly has an optimistic outlook on her prognosis. As she said, the “opportunity” to “upgrade” her health may finally come now and, hopefully, a medical explanation and treatment for her blackouts. Lilly's a true warrior off screen, and those who want to see her heroics as the Wasp can stream the Ant-Man movies with a Disney+ subscription.

Back in May of 2025, Evangeline Lilly revealed that she had passed out and hit her face on a boulder. Evangeline Lilly Explained She Has Brain Damage Following Boulder Accident

While social media is full of fans wondering if Lilly will return to the MCU, she’s been using her Instagram to keep them updated on her health and healing journey. As I mentioned, last year, she posted on her Substack (via People) that she had “fainted at the beach,” which led to her hitting her face on a boulder. It was unclear why she blacked out in that moment, and as she healed from it, she was forced to “drop everything” to slow down.

Now, she’s shared a new update months after the incident. Tragically, it has led to more health issues, and she revealed that after a brain scan, they learned that her “brain is functioning at a decreased capacity.” She said:

She went on to say that there are a few things that could be causing it, and she’ll be working with doctors to figure it out and heal. Diving into how she’s feeling right now, the Lost star said:

While this has clearly been a tough time for her, Lilly did note that her “cognitive decline” has “helped” her “slow down.” She also said she had the “calmest, most restful Christmas holiday” because of this. Her gratitude was also on full display, as she noted how “extraordinarily grateful and blessed” she felt to keep living life. Finally, she noted how much she appreciates everyone for “caring.” And that care kept going in the comments.

After Evangeline Lilly shared this candid update on Instagram, her comments were flooded with love and support. If you’ve watched the Marvel movies in order, you know that this first comment from Michelle Pfeiffer means a whole lot, as she posted:

This is reminiscent of what happened to Jeremy Renner three years ago. After he was hit by a snowplow, many actors, including Lilly, shared their support for him. What's The Likelihood of Seeing Wasp Return in The MCU?

Evangeline Lilly’s Marvel future has been the subject of much fan speculation, especially after the actress publicly announced in 2024 that she was stepping away from acting. This was big news for MCU watchers, as both the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars are rumored to bring back nearly every major Marvel character for at least some sort of cameo or legacy moment. With Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man confirmed as a major player in Doomsday, the absence of Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp would stand out.

That’s why her recent Instagram activity caught the attention of fans and Marvel sleuths alike. Lilly not only randomly posted a video praising Captain America: The Winter Soldier, calling it “one of Marvel’s finest,” but she also paraphrased Black Widow’s iconic “sun’s getting real low” lullaby line to the Hulk in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The post came complete with hashtags like #marvel, #wintersoldier, and #captainamerica, as well as enthusiastic replies to fans about her favorite MCU moments.

Does this mean Evangeline Lilly is returning to the MCU? Officially, nothing is confirmed. Yet the timing is certainly interesting. Avengers: Doomsday is reportedly in reshoots and is set to hit the 2026 movie schedule next December. Meanwhile, Secret Wars starts filming in 2026, and just about every Marvel alum has been rumored for a cameo.

It’s possible that Evangeline Lilly's post was just a fun share after a family movie night. Then again, actors have used social media to tease their returns to Marvel before. And, with Hope Van Dyne’s absence sure to be noticed in upcoming Avengers crossovers, it’s not unreasonable for fans to read between the lines and hope this is a subtle tease.

James Sawyer, played by Josh Holloway, had some amazing nicknames for his fellow castaways on Lost. Many - or even most - of them were pretty mean, but in a show filled with heavy, intense scenes, and some of the most shocking moments in TV history, it was important to have at least one character that we could laugh at or with when he spouted off a nickname. One of the reasons Lost is a rewatchable show is to catch moments and nicknames you might have missed the first time. Like these, our list of great nicknames from Sawyer. 

Deep Dish - Hurley

Hugo Reyes, aka Hurley, played by Jorge Garcia, was often the target of Sawyer's taunts. They usually focused on Hurley's weight. Sure, that's really mean, but Hurley (and Garcia) took it all in stride. His weight was a major component of his character to shying away from the subject wasn't in anyone's interest. Sawyer calling him "Deep Dish" is a perfect example. 

Tokyo Rose - Sun

We do have to address the casual racism of Sawyer. It's not to be excused, of course, but it still made for some creative nicknames. This is when it's best to laugh at the creativity or even lack of it. Calling Sun (Yunjin Kim) "Tokyo Rose" is insulting on many levels, not the least of which is that Sun is Korean. 

Hobbit - Charlie

This just might be the funniest inside joke on Lost. Charlie is played by Dominic Monaghan. It was Monaghan's second big role in his career. His first, of course, was Meriadoc Brandybuck in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Brandybuck was a hobbit. So while Sawyer is insulting Charlie's height, he's using a great inside joke to do it. 

Moonbeam - Libby

Libby (Cynthia Watros) is a tallie that fans met in Season 2 of Lost. It doesn't take long for Sawyer to come up with a nickname either: Moonbeam. Libby has a pretty relaxed, hippie-like attitude about a lot of things, so the nickname is pretty spot on. 

Jumbotron - Hurley

Sawyer is pretty relentless with Hurley, but honestly, it's pretty hard not to giggle a little a "Jumbotron." No one would ever use that as an insult anywhere in the normal world. Mean? For sure. Creative? Yep. 

Dr. Quinn - Jack

Jack Shephard, played by Matthew Fox, is pretty much the main character on Lost, even among the ensemble cast. He's also frequently at odds with Sawyer, so it stands to reason that Sawyer would have a lot of nicknames for the good doctor. "Dr. Quinn" is among the best, referencing the classic TV show Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. 

Shaft - Mr. Eko

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who played Mr. Eko, had too short of a run on Lost and fans wish he'd stuck around longer. It was long enough to earn a few nicknames, with maybe the best being "Shaft" in reference to the legendary '70s movie. Sawyer was great at quickly referencing pop culture. 

Thelma - Kate

Kate (Evangeline Lilly) was a complicated character on Lost. Despite often being cast as a hero, she could be somewhat unlikeable sometimes. Her love triangle between Jack and Sawyer is a big reason why. Despite all the flirting, Sawyer could still get his digs in, like calling her "Thelma" in reference to the movie Thelma & Louise when she struck out looking for revenge one time. 

Yoda - Ben

Michael Emerson joined the cast as "Henry Gale" late in Season 2 of Lost. Eventually, we learned his real name was Ben Linus. He was full of wisdom and never afraid to let everyone know just how smart he was, leading to Sawyer calling him "Yoda." 

Colonel Kurtz - Locke

John Locke (Terry O'Quinn) is one of the most important characters throughout the entire run of the show. As such, he's often the target of Sawyer's insults and nicknames. One of the funniest has got to be "Colonel Kurtz" in reference to Marlon Brando's character in Apocalypse Now. It's just perfect for a bald guy in the jungle, right? If only he could have stayed out in the jungle, away from Sawyer...

Han - Michael

In Season 1, Sawyer gets in on building the raft with Michael (Harold Perrineau) and Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) and this leads to a slew of nicknames for both of them. While on the raft, he refers to them collectively as "Han" (Michael) and "Chewie" (Jin) as they try to drive the janky raft, much like the famous duo do with the janky Millennium Falcon in the Star Wars movies. 

Magic Leprechaun - Desmond

Henry Ian Cusick's character Desmond is introduced in a flashback in Season 1, but it's really at the beginning of Season 2 when we start to learn all about him. When Sawyer calls him "Magic Leprechaun" it makes it easy to laugh at Sawyer. Desmond, you see, is Scottish, not Irish, but a guy like Sawyer just doesn't care about the important distinction. 

Captain Bligh - Michael

One of the many nicknames Sawyer uses on Michael while they are on the raft at the end of Season 1 is "Captain Bligh," referring of course to the sadistic captain of the HMS Bounty in Mutiny on the Bounty. 

Reject From VH1's Has-Beens - Charlie

"(You All) Everybody" is a hit song by Charlie's band, Drive Shaft. Drive Shaft was sort of like a store-brand version of Oasis, right down to the bickering brothers. They also seem exactly like the type of band that would have appeared on VH1 as a has-been band from a bygone era. The fact that Sawyer tosses in the "reject" part makes the insult even more biting. 

Red Beret - Sayid

Of all the characters on Lost that Sawyer is racist towards, Sayid (Naveen Andrews) has it the worst. Some of them are incredibly horrid, but "Red Beret" is actually pretty creative. Sayid is a former member of the Iraqi Republican Guard, who were famous for the red berets they wore. 

Sheena - Kate

Sheena, Queen of the Jungle, is one of the many comic book references scattered through Lost. On the island, Kate is the group's very own queen of the jungle, so Sawyer pulling out this gem is pretty hilarious. It's a deep cut that not everyone would get, which makes it all the better. 

Chewie - Jin

When Michael builds the raft, his right-hand man is Jin. The two bicker the whole time, but they build a bond. Just like Han and Chewie in the Star Wars movie. Sawyer uses the "Chewie" nickname for Jin a couple of times when in reference to the raft and shortly after they wash back up on the island. 

Rambina - Ana Lucia

It doesn't take long for Sawyer to come up with a quick-witted name for Ana Lucia (Michelle Rodriguez). After she is thrown into the pit with them, the first time she's seen on the island, Sawyer calls her "Rambina" which is, frankly, the perfect nickname for her character at that point. She's one of the toughest women on the island, befitting the name. 

Stay-Puff - Hurley

Sawyer is clearly a member of Generation X. A lot of his nicknames stem from that. Take, for example, calling Hurley "Stay Puff." Anyone causally referencing Ghostbusters and the marshmallow man at the end has to be Gen X. Sure, it's another shot at Hurley's weight, but it's also creative! 

Cool Hand - Jack

Towards the end of Season 2, tension had been building between Sawyer and Jack over some medicine Sawyer was refusing to share with the group. What starts as a friendly game of poker for fruit, turns into a showdown between the two over the meds. Jack wins, earning the nicknames "Amarillo Slim" and "Cool Hand" from Sawyer. 

Mr. Miyagi - Jin

Sometimes Sawyer's prejudices get the better of him. When he calls Jin Mr. Miyagi, he's not trying to be racist, it's almost like a compliment, but really, it's just problematic. Though somewhat creative, and another clue that Sawyer's pop culture knowledge is limited mostly to the 1980s. 

Daniel Boone - Locke

John Locke spent a lot of time on the island alone. What he's doing isn't always exactly clear, except that he's exploring. Daniel Boone is one of the most famous American explorers, and a man who had no problem living off the land, just like Locke in Lost. 

Donger - Miles

Okay, okay. So this is an insult that references a movie that in and of itself is pretty problematic. "Donger," which Sawyer calls Miles (Ken Leung) is a reference to Gedde Watanabe's character Long Duk Dong in Sixteen Candles. That character is problematic as is Sawyer using the nickname for another Asian man. It's a great way to laugh at Sawyer, not with him. 

Ponce De Leon - Ana Lucia

Sawyer seems to have pretty good knowledge of great explorers and uses them a few times. One time it's Daniel Boone for Locke, another is Ponce De Leon for Ana Lucia as she leads the group of tallies through the jungle to meet up with the main group of survivors on the beach. 

Metro - Jack

"Metro" was a term in a specific time, notably the time Lost aired in the mid-00s. It's a description that soon fell out of favor, but it fits perfectly in this time and place on Lost. And yes, it's definitely a way to describe Matthew Fox in almost any of his roles, including Jack. 

Bluebeard - Michael

Most of Sawyer's most creative nicknames for Michael come from the time building and sailing the raft at the end of Season 1. Many of them are great nautical references, even calling him Magellan at one point. "Bluebeard" is meant to be in reference to a pirate, but the character comes from French folklore that has nothing to do with crime on the high seas. This makes it both creative and factually incorrect, perfect for Sawyer. 

Betty - Sun

It's hard to pinpoint why Sawyer called Sun "Betty" after Betty White, is so funny, but it just is. It's maybe the deepest cut on this list too. He calls her that just after Jin finds out she secretly speaks English, and the reference is to the Betty White movie "Liar's Club." Yeah, it's an obscure one, for sure, but that's part of what made Lost so great. 

Mr. Clean - Locke

Many of Sawyer's nicknames for Locke reference Locke's bald head. "Mr. Clean" is one of the more obvious ones, of course. Still, in the '80s Mr. Clean commercials were all over daytime TV and there isn't anyone around from that era who doesn't think of Mr. Clean as the quintessential "bald guy" on TV, with all due respect to Telly Savalas' character Kojak. 

The Artist Formerly Known As Henry Gale - Ben

When audiences first met Ben Linus on Lost, he used the pseudonym "Henry Gale." There are some great theories as to where it came from, but for many, the best thing about it is when Sawyer pulls out a reference to The Purple One, Prince, and the era when he went by "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince" during a dispute with his record company. 

Dr. Giggles - Jack

Dr. Giggles is a long-forgotten horror movie from the early '90s. Just referencing the movie must have had some fans of Lost jumping for joy because of the obscurity. It's also kinda the perfect nickname for Jack, who rarely lets his guard down and is very serious most of the time. 

Barbar - Hurley

Well, he finally did it. Sawyer finally just came out and called Hurley an elephant. Specifically the beloved "Babar." It comes in a particularly tense moment between the characters as they trudge through the jungle together. There is just something so funny about the name "Babar" used in any context, even as an offensive insult. 

Sulu - Jin

TV references were always a key part of Sawyer's nicknames. It might seem like calling Jin "Sulu" in reference to the iconic character played by George Takai in Star Trek is just another lazy reference based on Jin's race. But you have to remember Jin was steering the raft at the time and Sulu was the pilot of the USS Enterprise. So, really, it's pretty perfect. 

A lot of famous actors came and went on Lost over the years, but for the most part, the nicknames were reserved for the regulars. The cast members who made up the core of the cast. 

The MCU is always growing, thanks to theatrical movies as well as project that are streaming with a Disney+ subscription. While the studio is showing no signs of slowing down, there have been some behind the scenes shakeups. In addition to Jonathan Majors' firing as Kang, Hope van Dyne actress Evangeline Lilly revealed that she's taking a break from acting and isn't contracted to appear in any upcoming Marvel movies. Fans are wondering if that means she's out as The Wasp, and here are 5 actresses who could replace Lily in the MCU if needed.

Moviegoers who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order know that Lily first debuted as Hope in 2015's Ant-Man, before becoming The Wasp in the first sequel. She's had a great run in the role, but if the Lost alum is really stepping away from acting, then the studio might need to find a replacement. In no particular order, here are some choices I think would crush the role.

Dakota Johnson

This one might be a bit of a long shot, but hear me out. Dakota Johnson is a very capable actress, and her starpower made her seem like a killer choice to bring Madame Web to life. But the project (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription),  was reportedly changed greatly from the script she signed on.

While it's quickly becoming a cult classic, it seems unlikely that Sony would move forward with a sequel, especially as Madame Web struggled at the box office. And I think Johnson deserves a second change at the genre; she looked amazing in Madame Web's costume... even if she only got to wear it very briefly in the theatrical cut. It would great to see her use her talents in a more cohesive superhero movie like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or a fourth Ant-Man movie... if it ever gets green lit.

Zooey Deschanel

Zoeey Deschanel might not be as experienced as Evangeline Lily in genre work, but she's a popular choice online to play Hope van Dyne/ The Wasp. Namely because Joss Whedon wanted her for the role back during the development of The Avengers.

Prior to its release, Joss Whedon wrote another version of The Avengers which featured Zooey Deschanel's The Wasp as a major (hilarious) character. In the end this wasn't necessary as Scarlett Johansson signed onto a multi-picture deal as OG Avenger Black Widow. So if they need a new Hope, why not go with the New Girl alum?

Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis has had a long and wildly successful career in both TV and film. But surprisingly she hasn't made her debut in a superhero project just yet, despite being such a great choice. I mean, we've already seen her physically throw herself into a role with Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan. 

While Kunis has dipped her toes into some high concept genre projects with The Wachowskis' ill-fated Jupiter Ascending, I think she's got the charisma and star power to take on playing The Wasp in the MCU. While that was an ambitious new franchise that struggled at the box office, The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a well-oiled machine at this point in its life in theaters. So perhaps slipping into the role of The Wasp would allow for the Bad Moms actress to take on that type of character. I have a feeling her natural swagger would be great within the MCU. 

Rebecca Ferguson 

This is another actress that is surprisingly not involved in the MCU, despite so many Marvel characters Rebecca Ferguson would be perfect to play. She's a stellar talent, and one who is recognizable for a number of major projects, including playing the fascinating Lady Jessica in Denis Villeneuve's Dune franchise (which is streaming with a Max subscription), and the protagonist Juliette in the sci-fi drama show Silo (which is streaming with an Apple TV+ subscription). And of course, we can't forget Ferguson's role opposite Tom Cruise in the Mission Impossible franchise.

In all of her characters, Ferguson brings a palpable sense of power and confidence. And I think that could easily help her portray Hope van Dyne if the studio decides to actually recast Evangeline Lily. She's both a superhero and a keen mind, and I think the Greatest Showman actress could easily flex those muscles for the role. Plus, who doesn't want to see a fan cam of Ferguson as The Wasp set to the song "Never Enough"?

Betty Gilpin

Betty Gilpin is a stellar talent who is a stand out in any project that she participates in. As such, I think it would be a smart idea for either Marvel or DC to try and lock her down in a multi-picture deal. And who knows: maybe for the MCU she could step into Wasp's suit if Evangeline Lilly actually takes a large break away from her signature role. 

Another reason why the Nurse Jackie actress would be so good as Hope van Dyne/ The Wasp is because she's proven herself to be a very capable physical performer. She learned how to do professional wrestling as Liberty Belle Netflix's GLOW, and did a ton of action and fight scenes as the protagonist of the controversial dark comedy horror flick The Hunt. So it would be fun to see her once again get into some action sequences, but perhaps given The Wasp's signature suit, blasters, and wings. 

Obviously this discourse is all only valuable if Evangeline Lilly actually takes a longer sabbatical from acting, and turns out the opportunity to return as Hope/ The Wasp in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe project. No official new has been offered by Lilly or Marvel Studios just yet, so she's presumably still the only actress playing the role. But if that changes, there are clearly a number of capable actresses who could take on the mantle to continue Hope and Scott Lang's story on the big screen. 

While we wait for official news about the fate of Hope van Dyne in the MCU, be sure to check out the 2025 movie release dates to plan your trips to the theater. With Marvel pumping the breaks on the speed of its releases, there will be less releases in the next few years.

Her Marvel Cinematic Universe introduction was followed by appearances in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Endgame and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, giving her a decent run among the recurring actors in this franchise. However, now Lilly has announced that she’s stepping away from acting, which leads to one wonder what this means for Hope’s future in the MCU.

What Evangeline Lilly Said About Stepping Away From Acting

On her Instagram page, Lilly shared a video of her from 2006 when she was working on Lost, the popular ABC series where she played Kate Austen (who she had some problems with) for the entirety of its run. She was asked on the beach set as the sun was setting where she would like to be in 10 years, and although she was “terrified to admit this to the acting world,” Lilly answered that she’d like to be a retired actress, have a family, write and “influencing people’s lives in a more humanitarian way.” The video ends with a snippet from a Maya Angelou video, and with Lilly having accomplished the latter three goals she mentioned nearly 20 years ago, she’s now ready to move on from acting, though not necessarily permanently retire from it. As she wrote in the caption:

Again, Evangeline Lilly isn’t saying that there’s no chance we’ll ever see her act again, but for now, she’s in a place where she feels comfortable pressing pause on this portion of her professional life. As a result, Quantumania marks her final acting project for now, but what will this mean for Hope van Dyne looking ahead at the upcoming Marvel movies?

How Will The MCU Handle The Wasp Going Forward?

When we left off with Hope at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, she’d returned to the Quantum Realm to help Scott Lang defeat Kang the Conqueror, then the two of them were able to go back home thanks to Cassie Lang reopening the portal. The couple’s everyday life resumed without a hitch, though Scott began to wonder if Kang’s death would lead to a greater danger emerging.

There’s been no mention of Ant-Man 4 being in the works, and frankly, the chances of it moving forward would surely have dwindled given Quantumania critically and commercially underperforming. So as far as that particular MCU film series goes, the likelihood of Lilly coming back to reprise Hope van Dyne was already pretty slim. That said, Phase Six does have Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars coming up, and there’s always the chance that Lilly could have donned the Wasp suit again for brief appearances in either of those movies, just like she did in Endgame.

Now that’s off the table, so two options come to mind regarding how the MCU will handle Wasp going forward. First, and I suspect this is likelier, is that she’ll simply be written out. Ideally we’d get a mention of what Hope is doing these days or why she hasn’t returned for some battle that Scott may participate in, which is better than her just never being referenced again. The second option is that maybe Marvel will recast the role, assuming that there’s a story coming up that requires Hope’s presence and she can’t be substituted with another character? It’s hard to imagine that happening in something non-Ant-Man-related, but hey, Marvel’s surprised me many times before, so I won’t rule it out.

Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania is being released as a keystone piece for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Launching what has been referred to as Phase 5 of the canon, the movie has an important big picture role to play thanks to the much-hyped arrival of Jonathan Majors’ Kang The Conqueror – the villain set up to be the MCU’s new overarching central antagonist following the blockbuster defeat of Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Endgame.

The film is set up with the intention of giving fans an important preview of what’s to come from the next few years in the superhero-centric world… but with any luck, that’s not a promise on which Marvel will deliver. This is because audiences have come to expect a lot from the popular comic book movie franchise, and while Kang does stand out as an interesting character, the third Ant-Man And The Wasp feature is among the most disappointing that Marvel Studios has produced.

The movie marks another crack at world building for the MCU, this time exploring the microscopic universe known as the Quantum Realm, but it’s an effort that is fumbled in almost every way. A tepid, boring narrative, weak character development and utilization, and mucky and endless green screen scenery are just some of the film’s significant weak spots, and it all amounts to a blockbuster that’s never compelling for more than five minutes at a time and has nothing original or special to contribute to the superhero genre.

Scripted by Jeff Loveless, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania catches up with Avenger Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) at his cheeriest. He has written and published a new book about his adventures as one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and he is part of a tight family unit with Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), and his now-adult daughter, Cassie (Kathryn Newton). There are secrets being held from him, however: Janet is consistently hesitant to reveal anything about the decades that she spent in the Quantum Realm prior to her rescue in Ant-Man And The Wasp, and Cassie has been quietly doing research with Hope and Hank to learn more about the mysterious and dangerous world. This all comes to a head when a device Cassie has invented malfunctions, and all five of them get shrunk down and sent to the strange alternate dimension.

Separated into two groups – Scott paired with Cassie, and Hope with Hank and Janet – they explore the Quantum Realm and try to find each other, all the while discovering what Janet has been hiding from them. It turns out that there is an entire civilization that exists in the bizarre pocket universe, and ruling over it is Kang The Conqueror, a being exiled from the multiverse who has risen to power thanks to his possession of advanced technology from the distant future.

Jonathan Majors is terrific, but Kang The Conqueror doesn't make the impact that he's meant to make.

The introduction of Kang is easily the best thing that Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania has going for it. Jonathan Majors once again proves that his charisma and magnetism is boundless, and flashback sequences that inform the audience about the character’s history with Janet van Dyne prove to be the most enthralling bits that the film has to offer. As much excitement as that provides, though, everything else is almost entirely hollow. The blockbuster has a terrible “telling, not showing” problem that both handicaps the storytelling and undermines the antagonist’s impact.

It’s explained by both Janet and residents of the Quantum Realm that Kang is a terrible despot who rules as an oppressive and terrifying tyrant, but that’s never illustrated in any significant way (he just seems to occupy his own little corner of the Quantum Realm, which he has outfitted with a bunch of empty, shiny buildings patrolled by faceless robots). And while it’s said that he has dangerous powers, we don’t actually see anything more than some flying, minimal telekinesis, and the ability to shoot beams out of his hands. With the way things unfold, you definitely don’t get to grasp why this villain is expected to be a serious threat that will eventually require the attention of the Avengers.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania has no idea what to do with its characters.

And while Kang’s role is undercooked in the film, he’s hardly alone. None of the characters have arcs to speak of, unless you count Scott Lang making a bit more of an effort to be a better father (which isn’t really much of an arc). Despite her being a titular character, Hope van Dyne barely has a role in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, as her presence in the story is almost entirely defined by her being frustrated that her mother hasn’t been more open with her. Janet at least gets to be a part of the aforementioned Kang flashbacks; Hank and Cassie are just kind of… there.

It’s also hard not to feel bad for MCU newcomers Katy O’Brian and William Jackson Harper, who respectively play Quantum Realm inhabitants Jentorra and Quaz. It’s not altogether surprising that a movie that doesn’t know what to do with its leads doesn’t know what to do with its supporting cast, but he actors’ talents are nonetheless wasted on bit parts that carry zero weight. They provide exposition and take part in battle sequences, and that’s it. Additionally, it would be unwise to start having expectations for the role played by Bill Murray in the film, as he is part of a 15-minute segment in the first half of the second act that could be excised from the blockbuster and the only impact would be improving the narrative’s pacing.

It's hard not to be concerned about Marvel's future after Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania.

Given that the Ant-Man movies have been teasing the full breadth of the Quantum Realm for the better part of a decade now, you’d also think that the visuals would be spectacular and eye-popping in Quantumania, but it’s just another arena of disappointment. There is some decent character design executed, but environments look ugly and unreal, and there is a total lack of dynamic set pieces. Heroes growing and shrinking lacks novelty eight years after the release of the first Ant-Man, and while the film does try and get a bit creative at one point by having Scott Lang get trapped in what’s referred to as a “probability storm,” it turns out to be an idea with zero internal logic, and that seriously detracts from the fun.

In the past few years, Marvel Studio’s overall output hasn’t been as strong as what was accomplished between 2008 and 2019, but that’s been somewhat excusable. A high bar was set by the overall quality of the Infinity Saga, release and production plans were interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the firing/re-hiring of James Gunn for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 forced some surprise shuffles behind-the-scenes, and the canon has been diversifying with the development of original programming for Disney+ to pair with the big screen blockbusters.

Arriving in the aftermath of all that, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania was supposed to be the film that put the franchise back on solid ground and set up an exciting future – but that’s not what has been made here. Instead, it’s a film that mightily struggles in pretty much every important area, and it raises some serious concerns about what’s on the way from the MCU in the months and years to come.

Following Jeremy Renner’s near-fatal snowplow accident many of the Avengers assembled to show support for their pal. Now that the Mayor of Kingstown star is back at home and healing, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly have both spoken with the Hawkeye actor, and they gushed about how well he’s doing, all things considered. 

Evangeline Lilly, who has worked with Renner in both the MCU and the Oscar-winning movie The Hurt Locker had an update about her friend, saying she had just seen him. The actress said she was at his house a few nights ago, and she told Access Hollywood he was moving around in a wheelchair. She described how impressed she was by his healing, by humorously saying:  

Then things got a bit deeper as Lilly went into detail about her interaction with Renner. She talked about walking into his house and how shocked she was to see him mobile. The Ant-Man star said:

It is remarkable how quickly Renner has met his progress goals for healing, considering he was hit while trying to save his nephew and broke over 30 bones. Lilly explained that she got a detailed description of what happened to the actor and what he remembers from the accident, saying:

Hearing this makes his recovery even more remarkable. Not only is he back at home and moving around after the traumatic accident, but he’s also still promoting his show Mayor of Kingstown. Not to mention, he's also still keeping the vibes high on Instagram with positive health updates. Lilly mentioned the recovery ahead for her friend and co-star, saying: 

Ant-Man himself, Paul Rudd, also commented on his Avengers: Endgame co-star’s health, revealing he had just talked with him to ET, and said: 

He also noted how much he cares for Renner, calling him “the best guy.” 

Along with Lilly and Rudd, many MCU alums have shown their support for Renner. Mark Ruffalo asked Marvel fans to pray for his OG Avengers co-star, Chris Evans had a funny exchange with the Hawkeye actor about the accident and wished the MCU star a happy birthday while he was in the hospital.

It’s clear there is a lot of love for Renner, especially from his MCU family, and it’s wonderful to not only see the Kingstown star on the road to recovery but also see all the support he has.

It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Paul Rudd suit up as Ant-Man in the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers: Endgame. The tiny superhero is back in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which has been tapped to not only usher the MCU into a new year but to kick off Marvel’s Phase 5. Anticipation is high, as Ant-Man will find himself getting sucked into the Quantum Realm and meeting Marvel’s next big villain — Kang the Conqueror, who did some pretty awful things in the comics. The movie premiered in Los Angeles on February 6, so let’s check out some of the first responses to the screening.

Jonathan Majors, who dedicated himself to getting into shape for this role, made his Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Kang variant He Who Remains in Loki, but audiences will obviously see a very different character when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters on February 17. The trippy trailer promises an adventure that should be Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne’s (Evangeline Lilly) biggest challenge yet, and Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) has apparently been keeping a big secret. Let’s check out the social media reactions to the film’s premiere screening.

Self-proclaimed Marvel nerd Nora Dominick of BuzzFeed praises the casting of Jonathan Majors, saying he brings complexity to the role of Kang the Conqueror: 

Film critic Fico Cangiano agrees that Jonathan Majors is a show-stealer once Kang makes his appearance, and he calls this movie the best of the Ant-Man trilogy: 

However, Daniel Baptista of The Movie Podcast feels Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is missing some of the comedy we’ve come to expect from the MCU blockbusters, and while there are aspects that are “astonishing,” Baptista calls the movie overambitious:

Writer Michael Lee says director Peyton Reed’s work on The Mandalorian pays off in this Ant-Man film in terms of production and character design. He says the movie has a good balance of action, humor and heart:

After a year filled with COVID-related delays, it looks like Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally kicking into gear, meaning fans can look forward to plenty of Marvel movies in the near future. One of these superhero flicks is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the third installment in the tiny Avengers’ film series. We have quite a bit of time before the film arrives, but we’ve still got you covered on some facts you need to know, such as its release date, director and cast.

A third Ant-Man movie was first reported to be in active development back in 2019. But during Marvel Studios’ presentation during Disney Investor Day in December 2020, studio head Kevin Feige confirmed the film’s official title as Quantumania and dropped a few other sweet details as well. As you can imagine, the studio is mostly keeping things under wraps when it comes to the threequel, but what we do know should be enough to get fans excited. So let’s dive right into this installment of our What We Know So Far guides:

The Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania Release Date Is Set For February 17, 2023

It was initially suggested that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania would be released sometime in 2022. Unfortunately, the COVID-induced changes in Marvel’s Phase 4 schedule resulted in a number of films getting shifted. In May 2021, Marvel Studios confirmed that the film would land on February 17, 2023 but, by October 2021, it was delayed to July 28, 2023. But this past April, Quantumania returned to the February 17 slot after switching places with The Marvels.

This marks the first time that an Ant-Man film has ever been released in the month of February, as both of its predecessors landed summer release dates. While the franchise definitely gives off those poppy, summer blockbuster vibes, Quantumania, should still feel right at home in a winter month.

Peyton Reed Is Directing Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania

Marvel Studios has been known to change out directors within their franchises, with the Thor and Captain Marvel movies being among the biggest examples. However, the studio has also been maintaining creative continuity in other series by holding onto certain filmmakers. This is the case for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, as Peyton Reed is returning to the director’s chair for the new movie. Following Edgar Wright’s departure from 2015’s Ant-Man, Reed stepped in and crafted a fun film that was a hit at the box office, and he brought that same energy to the 2018 sequel.

After two films, Peyton Reed has proven that he understands this corner of the MCU and has managed to make Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly’s heroes formidable characters. He’s also injected plenty of heart and humor into the movies, all while creating some quirky action sequences. Based on its trailer, Quantumania is set to be Reed’s most dramatic entry in this series. But at the end of the day, he still seems to be putting emphasis on the partnership between the titular duo. All in all, Reed is the right filmmaker for the job, and it’ll be interesting to see what he has in store for this new big-screen adventure.

Rick And Morty Alum Jeff Loveness Is Writing Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania

Although the franchise is keeping its director, it’s making a change in the writing department. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania tapped Jeff Loveness as its screenwriter. The previous movies had several credited writers, including Edgar Wright, Adam McKay, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari and even Paul Rudd himself. Needless to say, this franchise has gone through quite a few scribes.

Jeff Loveness has written for Jimmy Kimmel Live! as well as the comedy anthology series Miracle Workers and the hit animated show Rick and Morty, for which he was honored with an Emmy. On top of all this, Loveness has also written a number of Marvel Comics, tackling the characters of Groot, Nova and Spider-Man. His résumé is definitely varied, but his experience with comedy and comics makes him a perfect candidate for this job. His experience with interdimensional-centric stories (via R&M) was probably very invaluable as he crafted what appears to be a very trippy Ant-Man story.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania Will Send The Two Heroes And Their Loved Ones Into The Quantum Realm

As seen in the trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp:Quantumania, Scott Lang is floating on air, as the ex-con-turned-superhero has become a bonafide celebrity. This is likely due to the role he played in saving half the universe during Avengers: Endgame. His world gets shaken up, though, when an experiment goes awry and he, his daughter Cassie, Hope van Dyne, Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne are all transported to the Quantum Realm. While there, the group will have to face the pitfalls of the microverse while also contending with the villainous Kang the Conqueror.

It also seems that the movie will feature a few other notable plot threads. The teenaged Cassie Lang will apparently become a hero in her own right. (It looks like she might take on the moniker of Stinger.) Meanwhile, the trailer teased that Janet is hiding a major secret from her loved ones. What that is is unclear at this point, but it’s possible that it’ll have major ramifications on the overall narrative.

What Will Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania Be Rated?

A film’s rating is usually something that viewers ponder ahead of its release, and that’s especially true when it comes to comic book movies. Over the years, the superhero genre has welcomed flicks that have varied in terms of ratings. That being said, Marvel Studios has remained incredibly consistent when it comes to its ratings, so it’s easy to assume which one Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will receive.

It’s not confirmed at this point in time, but there’s a good chance that Quantumania will be rated PG-13. Every single one of the other MCU films holds that rating, and it’s hard to see anything different happen here. The Ant-Man franchise has featured thematic elements, though it’s also arguably the Marvel Studios’ most family-friendly series, given that Kang is involved, it’s possible that things could get a bit more intense. Still, unless things took an incredibly sharp turn during the development process, the studio will likely look to keep things consistent with this third movie.

The Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania Characters And Cast

When it comes to the strength of its cast, the Ant-Man franchise stands alongside some of the best Marvel movies. The star-studded ensemble has been a pure delight since the first installment, and the stars’ chemistry with each other is always fun to see. Some of the returning cast members may already be obvious, but not everyone is returning. Still, Quantumania has plenty of strong franchise vets and a few newcomers in the fold.

Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd)

The lovable (and seemingly ageless) Paul Rudd is back in the role of Scott Lang, the reckless but well-meaning ex-con who became the second Ant-Man. The character has had quite the journey in the MCU. He took on the villainous Yellowjacket and even fought an Avenger in his first film before getting involved in the game-changing events of Captain America: Civil War. It was that movie that led to him being put under house arrest by the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp. Lang was last seen in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, in which he played a pivotal role in undoing Thanos’ actions. As mentioned, Scott’s become a bit of an A-lister by the time the third film opens, but I’d expect him to get humbled when he enters the Quantum Realm.

Hope van Dyne/The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly)

Of course, there is no Ant-Man without the Wasp and, luckily for him (and us), Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne will once again suit up alongside him. Hope has come a long way since her MCU debut in the 2015 film. Originally estranged from father Hank Pym, they eventually reconciled, and she continued her mother’s legacy by taking on her mother’s superhero moniker. Hope, unfortunately, became a casualty of Thanos’ Snap but was restored five years later in Avengers: Endgame. While she had plenty of cool moments in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Hope was sidelined a bit during the chaos of Endgame. Hopefully, Peyton Reed has some nice things in store for her here and allows the character to evolve further.

Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas)

The new Ant-Man and Wasp may be at the forefront, but the OGs aren’t going anywhere. This includes Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym, who will be along for the ride once again. As one of the MCU’s earliest heroes, Pym is incredibly important within the history of the franchise. While he’s no longer a costumed crusader, he has been instrumental in aiding Scott and Hope’s heroics. He even suited up himself when entering the Quantum Realm to find and rescue his wife in the 2018 follow-up. Like his daughter and spouse, he died during the Snap but returned five years later. Pym’s knowledge of the microverse could be huge in this third film, meaning Douglas could have his biggest role in a Marvel movie to date.

Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer)

Fans were excited when it was announced that Michelle Pfeiffer would play Janet van Dyne in Ant-Man and the Wasp, and the former Catwoman actress did not disappoint. While Janet’s role in the movie was brief, Pfeiffer certainly made the most of her screen time. As far as we know, following her return in Endgame, she’s back in the world and living happily with her husband. Quantumania has the potential to give Janet her biggest role in an MCU film yet. Her vast knowledge of the Quantum Realm will make her invaluable, as she and her loved ones attempt to navigate it. And let’s not forget that aforementioned secret she’s keeping, which could really shake things up.

Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton)

Although Cassie Lang is a character MCU fans are more than familiar with, she’ll look a bit different when they next see her. Freaky star Kathryn Newton will play the character this time around, following in the footsteps of Abby Ryder Fortson and Emma Fuhrmann. Cassie was first introduced to viewers as a six-year-old who idolized her father, and that admiration only grew when she found out he’d become a superhero. Due to the five-year gap between Infinity War and Endgame, Cassie is now a teenager and, as the trailer showed, she’ll be suiting up alongside Scott and Hope, presumably as Stinger. This would signify yet another step towards the MCU’s version of the Young Avengers. Cassie’s heroic turn has been a long time coming, and one can only hope that it lives up to the hype.

Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors)

Ant-Man and Wasp have faced off with their fair share of baddies, but not even Thanos could possibly prepare them to take on the imposing Kang the Conqueror. The fan-favorite comic book villain is being played by Lovecraft Country and The Harder They Fall star Jonathan Majors. The rising star previously appeared on Loki as He Who Remains, a variant of Kang. The character’s death at the hands of Sylvie freed his evil variants and, now, Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne will be the first MCU heroes to encounter Kang proper. Based on what we’ve seen of him so far, he’s a far cry from He Who Remains and will push the titular heroes to their limits.

TBA (Bill Murray)

Last fall, Bill Murray revealed that he’d be in a Marvel movie, which was revealed to be Quantumania. The actor appeared briefly in the trailer and, as of right now, we’ve yet to learn the identity of his character. One thing the actor did reveal is that he’s playing an antagonist of sorts. It’s also been speculated that he has a history with Janet van Dyne. We’ll have to wait and see how things turn out, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the comedic actor does end up playing a self-deprecating villain.

TBA (William Jackson Harper)

Another The Good Place alum is headed to the MCU after Jameela Jamil’s turn in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. William Jackson has been tapped for an undisclosed role in the Ant-Man threequel. It’s not hard to see why Peyton Reed and Marvel Studios would seek out the star, as he’s put in stellar work in the aforementioned sitcom and shows like The Resort and Love Life. Of course, one has to wonder who he might be playing. Internet chatter would suggest that he’ll portray Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Jimmy Woo (Randall Park)

Fans first met delightful FBI agent Jimmy Woo in Ant-Man and the Wasp, and he’s since become a fan favorite. It’s only fitting that Randall Park’s quirky character return to the franchise for its latest installment. The last time audiences saw Jimmy Woo was in Disney+’s WandaVision, in which he was brought in to help contend with Wanda Maximoff’s actions in Westview in New Jersey. What he does during this upcoming MCU installment remains to be seen.

It’s no secret that of all the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Ant-Man flicks have arguably featured the smallest stories. There are no universe-conquering Mad Titans or reality-bending sorcerers to be found in this series. But Quantumania is definitely going to up the ante. Given that they’re making a trilogy capper that features an iconic villain, Peyton Reed and Marvel Studios are going to have to bring their A-game here. But seeing as how the first two movies were so strong, there’s reason for fans to be hopeful about this new installment.

Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a wild ride so far, with filmmakers making bold narrative swings on both the small and silver screens. The last Marvel movie to hit theaters was Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was the scariest flick to hit the property yet. Some of the most terrifying moments came from Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, and Doctor Strange 2’s writer has revealed a scrapped death for The Wasp.

The Scarlet Witch massacred a number of characters throughout the runtime of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, especially during the Illuminati sequence. But it turns out that a number of heroes were floated around to join that team, including Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp. On the audio commentary for Doctor Strange 2, (via The Direct) writer Michael Waldron opened up about the grisly death that would have followed the microscopic hero if she made it into the movie, saying:

Ouch. While The Wasp is still young in her superhero career, it would have definitely been sad to see her get so unceremoniously squished by Scarlet Witch in the Doctor Strange sequel. In the end Evangeline Lilly’s character wasn’t included in The Illuminati. And it’s lucky for her, as those who did make the cut were killed off in quick succession halfway through the movie’s 126-minute runtime.

Michael Waldron’s comments show how much work goes into creating an ambitious project like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Drafts of the screenplay come and go and, given the multiverse action of Sam Raimi’s movie, that means that so did various characters. The Illuminati's entrance was important to nail, and there were a few major heroes that could have been included. For instance, fans were hoping to see a variant form of Iron Man, possibly played by one Tom Cruise.

The Illuminati’s role in Doctor Strange 2 was a rollercoaster for hardcore fans, who had been waiting and theorizing over this moment. Audiences erupted into applause when John Krasinski appeared as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, before he was promptly killed off. The same fate also came to beloved returning actors like Patrick Stewart and Hayley Atwell as Professor X and Captain Carter respectively.

While The Wasp wasn’t in Doctor Strange 2, she did appear in the animated series What If…? Evangeline Lilly’s character will get her big screen return in Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The movie’s contents are being kept under wraps, but she’ll presumably be facing off against Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror who is expected to be the MCU’s next big villain.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is streaming on Disney+ now, and Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters on July 8th. In the meantime, check out the 2022 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience. 

When the MCU first got its start, it was high on the brawn and low on the girl power. Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow doing a crotch-throat grab in a tight black leather getup and Natalie Portman, Hayley Atwell and Gwyneth Paltrow as supportive girlfriends on the sidelines to the big-league heroes was all there was amidst Marvel’s boys club. Since then, a ton more female Marvel characters have been introduced into the universe that are just as badass, clever and quick-witted as their male counterparts.

That being said, the walls are still stacked behind the women of Marvel leading their own solo movies. Out of the Marvel movies released so far, only 2019’s Captain Marvel, 2021’s Black Widow n and 2023’s The Marvels is all the leading girl power we’ve seen across 35 films.When taking a look at the upcoming Marvel movies, there isn’t a single female-led or female directed Marvel movie on the way . What’s up with that? And yet, there are so many incredible female Marvel characters who are deserving of their own film. Here are our picks:

Storm

One of the most powerful mutants not only in the X-Men movies so far, but, but in Marvel Comics as well has been Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. While Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp’s version were supporting characters with only a few standout moments in the X-Men franchise, there’s a lot more to her than what’s been explored. She’s actually the daughter of a princess in Kenya and a photojournalist father and was raised between Cairo, Egypt and Harlem, New York. Of course, she has the power to control the weather.

After Ororo was orphaned after her parents were killed in a plane crash, she was taken in by a thief in Egypt and trained by him to become a pickpocket. At some point in her origin story, she becomes worshipped as a goddess for using her powers with the droughts in the African desert. Ultimately she gets approached by Professor X and joins the X-Men, but she also once married Black Panther and became the leader of Wakanda, led the X-Men and worked directly with the Fantastic Four. She deserves a lot better than being on the sidelines. Oh, and Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo already wants to play her!

Spider-Gwen

By now, we’ve arguably seen too many Peter Parker / Spider-Man movies play out, so wouldn’t it be sweet to see a twist with Spider-Gwen leading a spinoff next time around? Spider-Gwen is a comic book character that began in 2015 that follows Gwen Stacy, who is famously Peter Parker’s ill-fated first girlfriend. Except it’s about her life in another universe where she is the one to get the spider bite and it’s Peter who dies in her arms. The character was of course explored as a Sony animated character in the Spider-Verse movies.

Now that the multiverse has been opened in the MCU, it would be exciting to see another version of the Spider-Man origin story through a live-action Spider-Gwen, who by the way has a super cool rock band called The Mary Janes. It’d be an especially great idea with Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, who he could accidentally meet (both from other universes) and have a love story across dimensions. I could also see actors like Yellowjackets’ Sophie Thatcher, Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer, House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock or Wednesday’s Emma Myers playing a more age-accurate version of the comic book character.

Captain Carter

After Steve Rogers found his happy ending with Peggy Carter in Avengers: Endgame, Marvel has brought back Hayley Atwell as Captain Carter, an alternate version of Captain America where Peggy gets the super serum instead of Steve Rogers in the animated What If…? series and with a cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Along with Anthony Mackie taking up the mantle in the new Avengers movies, it would be a blast to see Atwell’s version of Captain America in live action for longer than a single scene.

Let me remind you that Atwell’s Captain America character has long been a favorite, having a two-season run on ABC’s Agent Carter as well. And now that Chris Evans has hung up his shield, it’d be fun for the studio to take their What If idea to the big screen, perhaps as a multiverse spinoff storyline. With Robert Downey set to be Doctor Doom, I’d imagine the superhero team could use all the help they could get, but I’d watch an entire solo movie with Atwell back as the character. Even if it’s just an espionage film from the WWII days.

Scarlet Witch

Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is arguably the strongest Avenger in the MCU. The character has been featured in multiple Avengers films, the first Marvel Disney+ show WandaVision of course, and last time we saw her in 2022, she supposedly died in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.They also built on the world of witches in the MCU with last year’s Agatha All Along series, which was a rare and welcome MCU series with a dominantly female cast.

While one might think Marvel is done with her, given the Vision series is still on the way and Joe Locke confirmed to be her son, Billy Maximoff, I’d love to see a feature film with all eyes on one of the most wildly complex members of the Avengers.

Okoye

In 2018’s Black Panther, the vast world of Wakanda was introduced to audiences to stunning results. Since then, I’ve always loved seeing Danai Gurira’s Okoye, who started as the General of the Dora Milaje and even joined the Avengers for Infinity War and Endgame before the events of Black Panther 2 where she was stripped of her rank by Queen Ramonda.

While we previously heard in 2021 that she might get a TV spinoff that was debunked by Marvel exec Brad Winderbaum recently who said he didn’t think she would be in a TV show but fans will be “excited to come back,” but couldn’t “say where.” Clearly Marvel sees the potential for the character to thrive further, but I sincerely hope she gets to lead a project soon.

America Chavez

When Xochitl Gomez was cast as America Chavez for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, I definitely thought she’d have much more to do than she did, but hey, there was a lot going on in that movie. Last we left her, she was brought under the care of Wong to learn the mystic arts. When she spoke to CinemaBlend about her future back in 2022, she had hopes to get into America’s connection with Kang, but now that storyline has pivoted, I’m worried the MCU won’t know what to do with her.

Of course, given America’s powers to travel to different dimensions, she could easily star in her own coming-of-age adventure where she’s perhaps exploring the multiverse on a smaller scale than an Avengers flick, but I also hope she’ll be recruited to the new team, of course.

Valkyrie

Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie quickly became a fan-favorite when she appeared in Thor: Ragnarok and since then, Marvel has promoted the character to King of Asgard as Chris Hemsworth’s hero went down a rough road during the Infinity War, along with her return in Thor: Love and Thunder. But, I’d also follow the superheroine to other corners of the universe even without the God of Thunder.

While Tessa Thompson’s specific version was created for the movies, her origins tie in with the Secret Avengers and the Fearless Defenders with characters like Misty Knight, Danielle Moonstar and Elsa Bloodstone. She could definitely lead a team of ladies in her own flick.

Yelena Belova 

We waited way too long for the Black Widow solo movie and then when it came out Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova stole the show right under from Scarlett Johansson. The younger sister of Black Widow has an intriguing way forward in the MCU given she has the chance to be the hero the studio was somewhat still figuring out with her arc. Yelena recently helped free an army of Black Widow soldiers and could have her own espionage thriller within the universe.

Of course, Thunderbolts* seems to have her potentially taking center stage in the summer team up movie also involving Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, U.S. Agent, Taskmaster, Sentry, Ghost and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, but I certainly wonder if the movie will truly give her a leading role and set up a future where she can be a key female member of the MCU.

The Wasp 

In 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne reunited with her family after thirty years stuck in the Quantum Realm. With that in mind, there are three decades of a missing timeline for the OG Wasp that could be a really interesting way for the MCU to explore the Quantum Realm itself.

It could play like a survivor movie where Janet finds herself in a mysterious place and learns to live in a reality where “all concepts of time and space become irrelevant as you shrink for all eternity” as Hank Pym has described it. We definitely got to see more of Janet Van Dyne in Quantumania, but I’d definitely be up for exploring more of Wasp’s life in the Quantum Realm.

Jessica Jones

Remember when Netflix made Marvel shows? Well, ever since Charlie Cox’s Daredevil made a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, these characters belong to Disney/Marvel Studios now. And the Daredevil: Born Again series has made the return of more Netflix Marvel heroes feel more possible than ever. In addition to Cox’s Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher entering the MCU, all the shows from the comic book universe Netflix explored are also now available to watch on Disney+ including Jessica Jones.

So technically, Jessica Jones could become part of the MCU, or at least have her own movie from the studio. Krysten Ritter’s character is a well-loved one who could continue her story on the big screen following the cancellation of her magnificent series. Plus, Ritter herself said she “one hundred percent would return” as Jessica Jones, citing that the character she spent five years on is “very important” to her and many fans.

So many ideas for the next female Marvel solo movie! We’ll have to wait and see which characters get movies next. Stay tuned here on CinemaBlend for more updates about the expanding MCU.

The Ant-Man and the Wasp movies have thus far been some of the most unassuming in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far, appropriately keeping the scale of the action and adventure relatively small, but they’re arguably two of the most underrated films in the franchise. With fun and weird powers to play with director Peyton Reed has crafted a pair of blockbusters that have their own special energy compared to the other films in the MCU – and a lot of that has to do with the strength of the cast.

Thankfully, the key characters in the series are coming back for Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, and we’re not only anticipating their big screen return, but over the moon about some of the new stars that they’ll be working with in the trilogy capper. The truth is that we don’t really know much about the movie or its plot, as Marvel is doing a great job keeping things tightly under wraps, but we do have confirmations about a number of actors and the roles they are playing, and we have broken it all down for you in this handy feature.

Paul Rudd

Sexiest Man Alive Paul Rudd has been an effervescent presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since his debut as Scott Lang in 2015’s Ant-Man, and it’s terrifically exciting that he’ll be back in the role for the adventure that is Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania. Rudd was in one of the biggest movies of 2021, taking a key supporting role in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, but some of his most significant work has been in the streaming series realm, starring in Netflix’s Living With Yourself and AppleTV+’s The Shrink Next Door. He most recently reprised his role as Scott Lang with a voice over performance in the Disney+ animated series What If…?

Evangeline Lilly

Following her performance in Avengers: Endgame, Evangeline Lilly has been in two movies: the thriller Crisis with Armie Hammer and Gary Oldman, and the action movie South Of Heaven co-starring Jason Sudeikis. She’ll reprise her role as Hope van Dyne a.k.a. The Wasp in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, marking her fifth time playing the character (including her role in an episode of What If…?).

Michael Douglas

After decades of waiting, Hank Pym was finally reunited with his wife, Janet van Dyne at the end of Ant-Man And The Wasp… and then the whole Blip thing had to interrupt the special reunion. Thankfully the events of Avengers: Endgame have returned things to normal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania we’ll see Michael Douglas back in his franchise role presumably making up for lost time. Like Paul Rudd, Douglas has also primarily been sticking to the small screen outside of Marvel in recent years, starring on the Netflix series The Kominsky Method.

Michelle Pfeiffer

What exactly did Janet van Dyne go through while living in the Quantum Realm? The character showed up too late in Ant-Man And The Wasp for the film to get too far into the details, but we’ll presumably learn a hell of a lot more in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania. We partially presume this because Michelle Pfeiffer will be back as Janet… but the title is also a pretty big hint. Since Avengers: Endgame, the actor has starred in two films – Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil and French Exit – and she is playing Betty Ford in the television series The First Lady.

Kathryn Newton

Following her performances in Blockers, Pokemon Detective Pikachu, and Freaky, Kathryn Newton is most definitely a star on the rise, and it looks like her career is only going to skyrocket further into the stratosphere as she makes her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania she will be playing Cassie Lang (the third actor to do so after Abby Ryder Fortson and Emma Fuhrmann). Cassie is now a teenager because she survived The Blip, and while there has been a lot of hoping from fans that the blockbuster will see her take on the superhero identity Stature, we don’t actually know if that’s happening just yet.

Jonathan Majors

Jonathan Majors made one of the most spectacular Marvel debuts in recent memory playing He Who Remains who in the season finale of Loki, and it’s because of our intense desire to see more of him that our anticipation for Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania is extremely amplified. The movie will reportedly see him play a variant of He Who Remains who is the legendary comic book villain Kang The Conqueror, who is best known for utilizing time travel and spectacularly advanced technology. In addition to Loki, Majors has been doing some phenomenal work in the last couple years, starring in incredible movies The Harder They Fall and Da 5 Bloods, and playing the lead on the HBO series Lovecraft Country.

Bill Murray

Truth be told, we’re probably not supposed to actually know that Bill Murray is in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania. All signs point to it probably being a cameo that the production wanted to keep a secret until the film hit theaters. Evidently Murray doesn’t really care too much about keeping things hush-hush, however, because he spilled the beans about his role in October 2021. We don’t know what part he is playing, but anything he’s involved with gets us curious. Like Paul Rudd, he too had a part to play in 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and that same year he also reunited with long-time collaborator Wes Anderson for The French Dispatch.

If everything goes according to plan, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania will debut in theaters as the second Marvel Cinematic Universe film of 2023, arriving a few months after both The Marvels (starring Brie Larson and Iman Vellani) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (starring Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana).  Look for it in theaters on July 28, 2023, and check out our Upcoming Marvel Movies and Upcoming Marvel TV guides to learn about everything that is coming from the MCU in the next few years.

It’s been a whole decade since Shawn Levy’s Real Steel was released, but the huge gap in time isn’t keeping fans from hoping the Hugh Jackman-led film will get a sequel. It wouldn’t be the first time that a film has gotten a follow-up after such a long period of time, especially in the sci-fi genre. Now, Evangeline Lilly has responded to questions about a sequel after Levy teases that one could still be made.

The actress recently spoke about her roles as Marvel’s Wasp and her new role opposite Jason Sudeikis in South of Heaven. During her interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she also touched on her feelings about working on Real Steel and expressed her love of the film. The star also went on to give her rationale regarding why a sequel has not been made. Here it is in Lilly’s own words:

Evangeline Lilly doesn’t seem to be the only star of the film that thinks this way, either; her fellow Real Steel and Marvel star Anthony Mackie appears to have a true affinity for the movie and would love to see a sequel. He even has a pitch for the story! Lilly, however, isn’t as enthusiastic about a sequel so long after the first and has conflicting thoughts on the matter:

While it’s really unclear whether the movie will be getting a sequel, there is plenty to look forward to from many involved in the 2011 film. Hugh Jackman recently released Reminiscence and has a few other projects in the works. Evangeline Lilly and Anthony Mackie are both still active in the MCU and have strong Marvel futures ahead of them, along with unrelated projects. Lilly has the aforementioned South of Heaven and Mackie is starring in a number of projects, including a not-so-“sweet” role in the Twisted Metal TV series adaptation. 

As for director Shawn Levy, the talented filmmaker just released Free Guy and is teamed up with Ryan Reynolds again in the upcoming film The Adam Project. Whether or not he could squeeze in a Real Steel sequel into his schedule remains to be seen.

Bad wigs: you know them; you love them; you love to hate them. Even a casual fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race can tell you how important a good wig can be (and how important it is to firmly secure it to your head). But with how far makeup and hairstyling techniques have come in the last few years, sometimes wigs just aren’t necessary anymore. Ant-Man’s Evangeline Lilly can attest to this.

The star of Ant-Man and the Wasp recently posted a throwback trailer pic of her dressed as Hope Van Dyne, which you can see below – adding to the comments with the message, "PS - YES, that is MY hair. NO, it is not a wig. For the record."

Evangeline Lilly is sporting the blunt bob from the original Ant-Man that many fans have thought was a wig. But the MCU’s Wasp quashed those rumors: that’s really her hair. It’s reminiscent of the hairstyle worn by Hope Van Dyne’s mother Janet in the original Marvel comics, and the cut was a tribute of sorts.

To be fair to the fans, it’s easy to suspect Evangeline Lilly’s hair was really a wig. The haircut is so straight and angular that it seems difficult to achieve on a natural human head of hair. It reminds me of a cartoon character’s hair, and cartoon hair doesn’t usually conform to the rules of physics or hairspray (Remember Entrapta’s hair in the 80’s She-Ra cartoon? It could literally move by itself).

Furthermore, the Marvel movies definitely contain their fair share of special effects, hair-related and otherwise. Ironically, some of the hairstyles that don’t look like wigs actually are (like Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie hair), but it makes sense. It’s much easier for a makeup crew to put a pre-styled wig on someone’s head, rather than to create that exact style on the actor’s real hair every time they need to shoot a scene. And sometimes it’s the actor’s choice: I can’t really blame someone for not wanting to shave their head or dye their hair blue for a role. It’s a huge commitment when a hairstylist could easily slap a wig or a cap on your head.

Evangeline Lilly, though, does not have this qualm. She seemingly had no problem rocking that sharp bob, and even more recently the star debuted a platinum-blonde pixie cut. It’s unclear whether or not Hope Van Dyne will keep that hairstyle when she makes her next MCU appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Hope Van Dyne had flowing dark tresses in Avengers: Endgame, so maybe Evangeline Lilly’s cut was in preparation for the Wasp’s new look. More likely, though, is that Evangeline Lilly will wear a wig (oh, the irony).

While the plot of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is being kept under wraps, we do know a few things. Number one: Michael Douglas is growing his beard back. Number two: in addition to Evangeline Lilly, Paul Rudd and Michelle Pfeiffer will be returning to the Ant-Man universe. And Kathryn Newton of The Map of Tiny Perfect Things will be making her MCU debut as Cassie Lang, a character previously played by Emma Fuhrmann.

Training is an essential part of performing in any superhero movie, especially when it comes to Marvel. And The Wasp herself, Evangeline Lily, is no exception, especially as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s production continues to roll on. The Ant-Man and the Wasp star shared updates on her training for Quantumania.

Evangeline Lily took to her Instagram to show her progress as she trains for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The MCU star revealed her two-year struggle with illness and her slow recovery. Lily seems to be pushing herself to return for the sequel, even as she may have to “hobble to get there.” Check out the actress’s defiant workout post below:

Evangeline Lily seemed determined and resilient as she prepared to be in top physical condition for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. While her exercise was simple, it appeared to be major progress given her prior condition. You must commend the MCU star for pushing through the pain so she can return for the anticipated sequel.

In another Instagram post, Evangeline Lily shared more of her story about her deteriorating physical condition. The actress gave some insight into her current method of training. She said about living with chronic pain since the theatrical release of Avengers: Endgame:

Later, she revealed her secret battle with lower back pain and injuries in more detail. Evangeline Lily gave the fitness program creator praise for helping her overcome her physical challenges. The actress said this about making her return as The Wasp:

Given the rigorous physical demands of Marvel films, Evangeline Lily is serving as an excellent example of triumphing over any adversary. Dealing with health issues would be a deal-breaker for most, but the actress is doing everything possible to bring The Wasp back once more. Hopefully all of Lily’s work pays off when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arrives in theaters on February 17, 2023.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is well-known for its secrecy, with plot details and casting announcements being kept under lock and key for as long as possible. Marvel actors have been even been known to film scenes with no set and no scene partner just to prevent them from guessing any upcoming storylines. However, even the best walls can have cracks, and actors are humans too. Take Evangeline Lilly, who plays Hope van Dyne, a.k.a. The Wasp. She may have just revealed the return of an old villain - and completely by accident.

According to Men’s Health, Evangeline Lilly recently posted the front page of her script for the upcoming film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on Instagram. There's nothing wrong with that, except that she tagged a number of her co-stars on the post. The tagged actors included returning actors Paul Rudd (who we all know as Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Michelle Pfeiffer (who plays Janet van Dyne), Michael Douglas (who plays Hank Pym), and - to the excitement of fans - Corey Stoll.

Who is Corey Stoll? As Marvel fans could probably tell you, Corey Stoll played Darren Cross, the brilliant, yet morally grey scientist who created the Yellowjacket suit in the first Ant-Man movie. Scott Lang thwarted Darren Cross’s plan to sell his Yellowjacket technology to the nefarious Hydra organization, and the ending of the film led audiences to believe that the antagonist was dead. But that's maybe not the case after all.

If Evangeline Lilly tagged Corey Stoll in her post about the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania script, it’s very possible that Darren Cross could make a surprise appearance. Marvel villains seem to have a habit of popping up when you least expect them, even if they were presumed dead. Considering the jumble of characters who were resurrected after the infamous Thanos snap, Marvel clearly doesn’t have a problem with breaking the rules of mortality.

What is strange, however, is that Quantumania already has a villain: Kang the Conqueror, played by Lovecraft Country actor Jonathan Majors. If Darren Cross does come back, what would his role be? Would he only be playing second fiddle to Kang? It is also possible that Darren Cross could be joining forces with Ant-Man and the Wasp to take down Kang.

However, in addition to resurrection, Marvel has also played with timelines. Corey Stoll could, in fact, appear in the movie, but Darren Cross might only show up in flashbacks, memories or hallucinations. The same thing happened in the BBC series Sherlock, when Moriarty’s return was teased, only to have the character appear in pre-taped videos.

Evangeline Lilly has since deleted her Instagram post, lending credence to the theory that Corey Stoll is returning. While this is certainly odd, it doesn’t really prove anything. There could be many reasons why Evangeline Lilly tagged Corey Stoll in her post. Maybe she wanted to keep a friend in the loop, or maybe she just did it by accident. I know I’ve accidentally typed the wrong name when sending a text. Unless Marvel officially confirms Corey Stoll’s role, we’ll just have to wait for the movie to reveal the answer.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to premiere in theaters on February 17, 2023. There’s plenty more Marvel content coming our way before then, so don’t worry about the wait too much. There’s always another villain to defeat in the MCU.

It has been Christmas morning for fans of the Disney studio and all of its properties. Star Wars and Pixar unleashed a slew of new announcements during the Disney Investors Call, meant to excite investors by teasing a robust content slate. And when we got to the Marvel Studios portion of the presentation, Kevin Feige didn’t disappoint. We have news all over the site, but in this program, we learned that Ant-Man and the Wasp 3 has an official title. Here, I’ll let Marvel spell it out for you:

There are a lot of familiar faces on the roster of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a title that sounds like it could be for a The Who album in the early 1980s. Naturally, franchise staples Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are reprising the roles that they have made famous in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their director Peyton Reed also is returning, and he’s bring Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer back as original Ant-Man and Wasp, Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne.

But it’s not “all the same,” as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania also will be rolling some fresh faces into the franchise, starting with Freaky standout Kathryn Newton playing Scott Lang’s daughter, Cassie. Here’s where we all get to feel bad for Emma Fuhrmann, the actress who briefly played Cassie when Scott freed himself from the Quantum Realm in Avengers: Endgame. She doesn’t get to come back? Girl, call your agent!

And now we get to discuss our villain. The menacing Jonathan Majors, who turned heads in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods earlier this year, will be playing Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This is a significant villain to be added to the MCU, as Kang is a cosmic villain who also has narrative roots in time travel. There are versions of Kang from way in the future, as well as way in the past, so it will be very interesting to see how Peyton Reed is able to use him.

A few things are missing from this announcement… namely, a release date. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania joins a list of announced but undated MCU projects including Blade and a Fantastic Four movie that Jon Watts will helm. In the past week, many of us have dealt with dramatic shifts to work schedules and daily routines as the U.S. has responded with increased precautions about the spread of COVID-19. The discourse has carried over into all aspects of living, including celebrities participating on social media. For the past week, LOST and Ant-Man actress Evangeline Lilly has been under fire for expressing her decision to skip out on social distancing.

Last Monday, the actress took to Instagram to announce she’d dropped her kids off to gymnastic camp. Any other week, it would have been a routine update no one would think twice about, but it was written right as health officials started asking citizens to practice social distancing and stay at home as much as possible. When a fan challenged her actions, Evangeline Lilly said "some people value freedom over their lives” and refused to place her family under “corona house arrest”. Now the actress is expressing regret over her prior comments. Here’s how Lilly responded:

As the Marvel star has detailed on her Instagram today, she has been social distancing in her home alongside her family since March 18 – two days after her controversial words. She said that at the time of her first post, her community had much looser directives, only asking people to not gather in groups of 250 people or more and to wash their hands frequently. Along with Evangeline Lilly, many of us have experienced a rapid shift in measures in the past week.

Evangeline Lilly made it clear that she is now doing her part to flatten the curve by staying home. She mentioned her concern for other families, communities and small businesses, but also highlighted the “humanity” she’s seen come out of people during this time. She’s certainly not the first celebrity who has had to hold her tongue about the virus this week – Vanessa Hudgens also apologized for her own controversial comments about COVID-19.

Evangeline Lilly's former LOST co-star, Daniel Dae Kim, actually announced that he had tested positive for coronavirus a few days after her comments. The actor, who was shooting a television show in New York City when he caught the virus, is starting to recover after using prescribed medications from his doctor.

Another LOST actor, Maggie Grace, reached out to Evangeline Lilly on Instagram about her comments in hopes of educating her on the pandemic. Take a look:

Game of Thrones’ own Sophie Turner also seemed to respond to Evangeline Lilly’s particular comments on the global health crisis earlier this week when she said “I don’t give a F about your freedom” during a livestream on Instagram with her husband, Joe Jonas.

Following a week of controversy over comments made by the actress, Evangeline Lilly’s approach to the matter certainly looks to have shifted as public knowledge of the situation has widened among Americans. She’s staying home too.

In recent days, a few celebrities have come under fire for spreading what is legitimately dangerous messaging during the COVID-19 pandemic. For example, a few days ago Marvel Cinematic Universe star Evangeline Lilly announced that she would not be practicing safe social distancing because "some people value freedom over their lives." The statement has resulted in the actress receiving criticism from a number of sources, but one of the loudest voices to emerge in the backlash belongs to Dark Phoenix/Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner:

Staying in contact with her fans while also staying at home, Sophie Turner recently hosted a live broadcast on her personal Instagram account, and while she never mentioned Evangeline Lilly by name, it's very clear that she is directly responding to the Ant-Man star's comments from this past week. The seriousness of Turner's message is a tad undercut by the filter being used, which strangely morphs her face, but her intent still hits home.

Feeling very little urge to censor herself, Sophie Turner spilled the proverbial tea, saying,

Based on the facts that we know about COVID-19, Sophie Turner makes some very important points. Limiting the amount of time you spend outside the house and around other people has absolutely nothing to do with a person's individual health, but instead everything to do with stopping the spread of the disease. An infected person may not start showing symptoms until as much as two weeks after catching the virus, and by being out in public that person can easily transmit the sickness to others without even knowing. This means that those with healthy immune systems who are less prone to the serious risks of the novel Coronavirus can spread the contagion to more at-risk individuals – and when that happens, people die.

What's more, the less concern there is about the spread of COVID-19 the more dangerous it becomes. The faster a disease spreads, the more risk there is of hospitals being totally overwhelmed and ultimately unable to help anybody. Slowing down the spread is absolutely imperative when it comes to stopping the pandemic, and the way individuals can help is simply by self-isolating as much as possible.

Is it easy? No. Will it get easier? Probably not. There is only so much entertainment that can be found in the average household, and cabin fever is a widely recognized condition. However, we can all do our part to help shorten the amount of time that self-isolation is necessary, and if we stay strong, hopefully this dark period will pass quickly.

With the COVID-19 pandemic showing no signs of letting up anytime soon, it’s been recommended that people stay at home as much as possible to avoid catching the coronavirus and/or spreading it around. Well, Ant-Man and Lost actress Evangeline Lilly has decided not to practice social distancing/isolation, believing that the disease isn’t as serious as has been reported.

This all started when Evangeline Lilly posted on Instagram earlier this week about how she’d taken her kids to a gymnastics camp and made sure that they’d washed their hands before going in. Lilly was subsequently criticized in the comments section about endangering the children, and one woman specifically requested that the actress stay home to help “flatten the curve and save lives.”

Evangeline Lilly responded by saying that if she and this other woman sat face-to-face, they would probably have “a lot to agree upon,” adding:

There’s no question that the spread of the coronavirus is being taken seriously across the world to varying degrees, but evidently Evangeline Lilly falls into the camp that believes there’s too much fuss around it. She claims that she’s given the matter a lot of thought, but isn’t willing to let this pandemic shake up her everyday life. Lilly also said the following in the same response:

Evangeline Lilly also mentioned that in addition to currently being immunocompromised, she is living with her father, who is battling stage four leukemia. Nevertheless, she refuses to put her family through “corona house arrest,” as another commenter put it, and said that “we all need to slow down, take a breath and look at the facts we are being presented with” in regard to the “global lockout.” Furthermore, she inferred that the coronavirus could be a hoax, believing that there’s “something” that happened every election year.

Whether you agree with Evangeline Lilly’s views or not, the coronavirus has certainly impacted daily life even for those who choose not to follow the distancing suggestions. All sorts of businesses have shut their doors for the foreseeable future, including major theater chains Regal Cinemas, AMC Theatres and Cinemark. Not to mention that along with various movies that were about to be released now being postponed (many of them indefinitely), various film productions have had to shut down as a safety precaution.

Having played Hope van Dyne in Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers: Endgame, Evangeline Lilly is expected to reprise the character in the upcoming Ant-Man 3. Before that though, she’ll appear in Dreamland, though that doesn’t have a specific release date yet.

In a month already filled with twists and turns for the MCU, the following news was announced: Kevin Feige is working on a Star Wars movie. Yes, the Marvel Studios chief at the helm of the jaw-dropping, universe-building, box-office dominating MCU over the years is brainstorming for a galaxy far, far away. Now the question is: who will he bring along for the light speed ride across the stars?

Per the initial report about Kevin Feige and Star Wars, he already knows who he wants to cast in the lead role. Could this mean he’s drawing from the expansive MCU family of actors we’ve previously seen don superhero suits and discuss Infinity Stones? If so, Kevin Feige has no shortage of talent to call up for the movie’s various roles. Here are our picks:

Annette Bening

Earlier this year, Captain Marvel enlisted the legendary actress Annette Bening to play the Supreme Intelligence and Dr. Wendy Lawson. The four-time Oscar nominee always brings a certain esteem to her performances, and her work alongside Brie Larson's Carol Danvers was a standout in the ‘90s set origin story. However, her role in the MCU doesn’t look like one that would continue past the first Captain Marvel movie, but we’d still like to see her do more in the sci-fi genre! She has major range – she could pull anything off really.

Winston Duke

The Star Wars franchise has always loved casting fresh talent in its movies, and Winston Duke is about as fresh as it gets! The actor found his big-screen debut as M’Baku in 2018’s Black Panther and has since charmed in Jordan Peele’s Us. Although Duke has been stealing scenes in major projects, it feels like we haven’t seen the full scope his talents just yet. He’s already a familiar name, but now Feige has the power to solidify Duke’s star status.

Chris Evans

Then there’s Captain America. Now, Chris Evans has just wrapped up a decade-long chapter of being in the spotlight as Steve Rogers. But even before that, he was finding roles in big movies such as Fantastic Four. He’s great in indies too, but Evans has always thrived in blockbusters. I can see Evans coming to Star Wars to take on something incredibly different than his boy scout role. He and Feige trust each other. Plus, he’s already shown his direct interest.

Laurence Fishburne

Is anyone else a bit disappointed Laurence Fishburne is in the MCU, but wasn’t given much to do? He had a supporting role in 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp as Dr. Bill Foster. The Matrix star is an incredible character actor who has delivered great performances throughout his career, but we’re always itching for another powerhouse role from the 58-year-old actor. He’s established roots with Disney with the Ant-Man sequel, Black-ish and the upcoming Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur series, so now it’s time for him to stun in the Star Wars universe!

Danai Gurira

Ever since Danai Gurira graced the big screen for Black Panther, she speared a scar right into our hearts. She has this unique combination of commanding a powerful presence and injecting heart into scenes. She’s one of the most interesting new actors to join the MCU. Now, we know Black Panther 2 is happening and she could have a larger role in the sequel. Still, put Danai Gurira in Star Wars, Kevin Feige. She’d be an instant favorite!

Daniel Kaluuya

Ok, yes, this is list is stacked with Black Panther actors, but there’s so much talent there! Daniel Kaluuya didn’t really get a large enough role to really shine in the Wakanda-set epic either. He deserves a larger swing in the Star Wars movies. The Get Out actor earning an Oscar nomination for the breakout Jordan Peele horror movie. Whatever big plans Lucasfilm has for the franchise, the actor is in high demand following Get Out and it’d be smart to bring him in!

Brie Larson

It helps to be a big Star Wars fan if you’re going to make one of its movies. Kevin Feige is certainly a longtime one. So is Brie Larson. She has made it known in the past by posting awesome pictures of her at Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge, wielding lightsabers and such. She’s good friends with Samuel L. Jackson (a.k.a. Mace Windu) and looks great in Jedi garb. Following a more restrained performance in Captain Marvel, it would also be nice to see what else she can do on a large scale movie!

Evangeline Lilly

It's time to help Evangeline Lilly complete a record. She’s been in the Lord of the Rings franchise and the MCU, so Star Wars would complete the trifecta! Since becoming a favorite on Lost, the actress has remained iconic with the blockbuster roles she’s accumulated and she’d be a solid addition in Star Wars too! She actually once admitted to approaching J.J. Abrams for a role in The Force Awakens. And hey, her Lost co-star (and LoTR’s Merry) Dominic Monaghan is about to be in The Rise of Skywalker.

Kurt Russell

Kurt Russell in space! Need I say more? The actor is a Disney legend, who got his start with the studio playing a teen in a variety of the studio’s films in the ‘60s and ‘70s. It’s always great to see him return to his roots for films such as Miracle, Sky High and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but a turn to the Star Wars franchise would be nothing short of epic. He has the star power to get fans excited. Who knows? He could be the next Obi-Wan Kenobi type for a new generation.

Tilda Swinton

Lastly, the incomparable Tilda Swinton would be a magnificent addition to the Star Wars universe. She’s adept with disappearing into unconventional character roles perfect for the alien world often uncovered in Star Wars. Between her roles in Wes Anderson movies, Snowpiercer, Suspiria or Okja, it only seems like a matter of time before Tilda crosses over to a galaxy far, far away! While she has a vital role to play in the MCU as the Ancient One, there’s always room for more of her talent on the big screen.

So, just how tall is each actor who plays an Avenger in the MCU’s Avengers: Endgame? It’s a great question. It’s hard to tell how tall an actor is when they are up on a big screen. Sometimes they look a lot taller than they really are and sometimes viewers believe the opposite. It’s not a surprise that the tallest Marvel actor is Dave Bautista or that the shortest Marvel actor is Scarlett Johansson, but what about everyone else?

It’s especially hard to tell when the actors are in their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to being enhanced by their superpowers (and just a little CGI). So, I've taken to the task and listed 26 of the most important Avengers and how tall the actor is who plays each character.

Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow)

Height: 5'3"

Black Window may be one of the toughest and most dangerous hand-to-hand combat specialists on the team. In the comics, Black Window is described as 5’7," but ScarJo herself is a petit 5 foot, 3 inches tall.

Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie)

Height: 5'4"

In comics, Valkyrie’s alter ego Samantha Parrington is 5’7," but when she becomes Valkyrie, she grows to a powerful 6’3”. Actress Tessa Thompson, however is just a bit shorter, standing 5’4.” Then again, she plays a much larger role on-screen.

Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp)

Height: 5'6"

When she’s the Wasp, she’s a mere ½ inch tall, so the 5’6” Evangeline Lilly is quite a bit taller when she appears as Hope Van Dyne in Avengers: Endgame and her other appearances in the MCU. In the comics, The Wasp’s alter ego, Janet Van Dyne is 5’4”, so Lilly isn’t too far off.

Tom Holland (Spider-Man)

Height: 5'6"

In the comics, Spider-Man and his alter ego Peter Parker are 5’10” -- 4 inches taller than the man who plays him in the MCU, Tom Holland. The difference actually works to Holland’s advantage in Avengers: Endgame as Spiderman is also the youngest Avenger, so looking smaller than other Avengers works well for the character. We'll have to wait and see if height matters in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Brie Larson (Captain Marvel)

Height: 5'7"

The minimum height requirement for a U.S. Military pilot is 5’3” and the maximum is 6’4.”  Therefore, Brie Larson’s 5 feet and 7 inches are perfect for Carol Danvers, a pilot who turns into Captain Marvel. She is a bit shorter than the comics version of Danvers, who stands 5’11."

Danai Guirra (Okoye)

Height: 5'7"

The 5'7" Okoye, who also happens to be one of the fiercest warriors in Wakanda in Black Panther, doesn’t have a defined height in the comics, but Dania Guirra’s 5 foot 7 inches seems like it would be the perfect height for a soldier and bodyguard for the King Of Wakanda. Though she isn't seen much in Avengers: Endgame, she's still an important part of the MCU.

Zoe Saldana (Gamora)

Height: 5'7"

Zoe Saldana does an amazing job as the estranged adopted daughter of the evil Thanos in The Avengers movies, fighting against Thanos with the rest of the Guardians Of The Galaxy, but she is a little shorter than Gamora. The character, as describe in the comics, is an even 6 feet in height. Still, at 5’7," she is one of the most dangerous women in the world.

Don Cheadle (War Machine)

Height: 5'8"

James “Rhodey” Rhodes, the man in the War Machine suit, also doesn’t have a defined height, but Don Cheadle, at 5’8” is, like Brie Larson, well within the height requirements for a military pilot, which was his job before teaming up with Iron Man and becoming War Machine.

Mark Ruffalo (Hulk)

Height: 5'8"

Things can get a little confusing on this one. For starters, Bruce Banner is 5’8” in the comics, so that’s perfect for Mark Ruffalo. Of course The Hulk in the MCU is HUGE. Like, 20 feet tall or something. In the comics, he’s describe as somewhere between 7 and 8 feet tall, at least in the early days. The Hulk has grown a lot over the years, but another measure is the old TV show. Lou Ferrigno, the bodybuilder who played The Hulk in the TV show The Incredible Hulk for 5 years in the ‘70s and ‘80s, is 6’5."

Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye)

Height: 5'9"

Jeremy Renner is a little short for Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, in the Avengers movies. In the comics, the sharpshooting archer is 6’3," while Renner is about 6 inches shorter than that in real life. In his case, height isn’t a very important element to the character and Renner is the perfect actor for the role.

Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man)

Height: 5'9"

The biggest star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not the tallest actor in the cast (or the highest paid, initially), that’s for sure. At 5’9," Robert Downey, Jr. is a pretty average height, and 5’9” seems like a perfectly reasonable height for Tony Stark. Of course, his Iron Man suit makes him taller and is listed at 6’1” in the MCU, but a whopping 6’6” in the comics.

Anthony Mackie (Falcon)

Height: 5'10"

Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, was also a pilot, though in the comics, he is at 6 feet tall, and sometimes described as as much as 6’2." Thus, while actor Anthony Mackie is a couple of inches shy of 6 feet even, he’s not so far off.

Paul Rudd (Ant-Man)

Height: 5'10"

So where do you start with this one? Scott Lang, the former convict who becomes Ant-Man, seems to be a pretty average height, like Paul Rudd. Of course, when he shrinks down to ant size, he’s what, maybe a couple of centimeters tall? When he goes the other way though, look out! It’s never really been defined, but some online guesses have him at 70 or 80 feet tall.

Karen Gillan (Nebula)

Height: 5'11"

Not only is Karen Gillan perfect in the role of Nebula as an actress, she’s almost the perfect height for the role. As Gamora’s adopted sister, who shares Thanos as an adoptive father in The Avengers movies, Gamora is 6’11," just a couple inches taller than Karen Gillan is in real life.

Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier)

Height: 5'11"

Here’s a twist. Most of the actors' heights in The Avengers are shorter than their comic book characters, but not Sebastian Stan. At 5’11”, Stan is actually 4 inches taller than Bucky Barnes in the comics. Even when he becomes the Winter Soldier, he’s a mere 5’9," which is still shorter than Stan in real life.

Stan Lee

Height: 5'11"

OK, so he’s not a real Avenger, but he’s more Avenger than some of the Avengers in a way, right? The father of the Avengers stood at 5’11” before his death in 2018. We miss you Stan!

Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange)

Height: 6'0"

Benedict Cumberbatch, with his lean physique, is one of those actors who seems taller than he actually is. While Cumberbatch is 6 feet in height, he plays the slightly taller Dr. Strange, who is listed at 6’1.” Luckily, that should be no stretch for the versatile actor.

Bradley Cooper (Rocket)

Height: 6'0"

So it’s not really relevant to point out the differences between Rocket and Cooper's heights. However, the actor who voices the CGI-created character, Rocket, from Guardians Of The Galaxy and both Avengers movies, Bradley Cooper, is 6 feet tall. For reference sake, Rocket is described as 3’1” in the MCU and 4 feet even in the comics.

Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther)

Height: 6'0"

T’Challa, King of Wakanda and the current incarnation of Black Panther is actually 6’1," but even if that is an inch or so taller than Chadwick Boseman really is, no one is going to complain, as Boseman is the perfect actor for the role and at this point, there is no way to see anyone else in the role. No need to split hairs (or inches) here.

Chris Evans (Captain America)

Height: 6'0"

Before Steve Rogers was injected with the serum that made him Captain America, he was famously a 98-pound weakling. Considering he was 6’2," that’s… very weak. The serum added more than 100 pounds to Rogers, but his height stayed the same, making him a robust 6’2” 220. Chris Evans may be a couple inches shy of that, but that’s no matter, he’s still a great Captain America.

Vin Diesel (Groot)

Height: 6'0"

I am Groot. I am GROOT. I AM Groot. Also – the voice of Groot, Vin Diesel, is 6 feet tall, while older Groot is anywhere from 8 to 15 feet tall. Baby Groot is… smaller.

I am Groot.

Chris Pratt (Star-Lord)

Height: 6'2"

Chris Pratt is surprisingly tall at 6’2," which is perfect for playing Peter Quill/Star-Lord in The Avengers and Guardians Of The Galaxy, who is also 6’2." Pretty much everything about Chris Pratt is perfect for Star-Lord. While his casting may have been questioned by some at first, no one doubts it today.

Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury)

Height: 6'2"

Nick Fury is the man who made The Avengers happen. While he’s not really a superhero himself, his is one badass dude, just like the actor who plays him, Samuel L. Jackson. At 6’2," Jackson is actually an inch taller than Nick Fury is in the comics, but there is no one else who could play the role at this point, as Jackson has made it his own.

Tom Hiddleston (Loki)

Height: 6'2"

Loki, brother of Thor and constant annoyance to his royal brother, seems much smaller than Thor in all the Thor movies as well as the other MCU movies that Tom Hiddleston appears in, playing the forever-jealous adopted prince of Asgard, but in reality, Hiddleston is 6’2," just an inch shorter than Chris Hemsworth and a couple inches shorter than Loki in the comics, who stands at 6’4.”

Chris Hemsworth (Thor)

Height: 6'3"

The mighty Thor, Prince of Asgard and one of the key Avengers, is a mighty 6 feet, 6 inches in the comics. Though Chris Hemsworth is “only” 6’3," most can agree those 3 inches don’t matter much when Thor is battling alongside his fellow Avengers and wielding his mighty hammer or Mjolnir or his newer weapon Stormbreaker.

Dave Bautisa (Drax The Destroyer)

Height: 6'6"

Former professional wrestler Dave Bautista is one of the most outspoken members of The Avengers: Endgame cast and he is also by far the tallest. At 6’6," he towers over even Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. Drax The Destroyer’s height varies in the Guardians Of The Galaxy comics, but it’s usually somewhere between 6’4” and 7’4," so Bautista’s 6’6” is pretty spot-on for this monster of a creature.

In case you were wondering about some of the villains in the MCU, Thanos is a 6’7” monster in the MCU, while the actor who plays him, Josh Brolin is 5’10." Yes, this is about average height for a man, but just a wee bit smaller than the Titan Eternal. As for Surtur, the giant, fiery villain in Thor: Ragnorok? He is a something like 1,000 feet tall and by far the tallest character in the series, though he’s played by a normal-sized man, motion-capture specialist Taika Waititi, who is just above average at 6 feet tall.

It’s doubtful that the casting directors in the MCU worry very much about height, except when it’s really necessary (like Drax or Thor), but they don’t ignore it either and they’ve done excellent work finding the perfect actors and actresses for each role, height included.

Just a few months ago, ABC President Karey Burke said she'd "very much" be interested in seeing a Lost reboot. There's nothing in the works, and the Lost creators have no intention of rebooting or reviving the show themselves. However, they were open to the idea of someone else exploring the world.

Evangeline Lilly is not a fan of the idea. Our Freckles does not want to go back to the island. Lilly played Kate Austen across Lost's six seasons from 2004 to 2010. She has her own frustrations with the show, but she's also loyal to the completed story. Here's what she said when asked if she thought Lost would be remade anytime soon:

So she's not just against a Lost reboot, she's not a fan of the current Hollywood craze to reboot or revive all kinds of franchises. She brought Star Wars into the story, although she didn't specify if she's not a fan of the prequels, the new movie trilogy, the standalone movies like Rogue One and Solo, or all of the above.

It's easy to take a knee-jerk negative response to the idea of a reboot, revival, spinoff, continuation, etc. But not all are created equal. Some fans agree with what Evangeline Lilly said to EW. They also think Lost should be left alone -- period. Other fans can see the potential in returning to the island, which existed before we first landed there with Oceanic Airlines Flight 815.

A continuation -- along the lines of, say, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle -- could set a new story in the same world but with only cursory nods to the original Lost. If done well, with new characters we love as much as the original cast, it could work. Or it could flop! Some reboots do work. I'm a huge fan of the original U.K. version of The Office, but the U.S. remake ended up extremely popular in its own right. The Ocean's trilogy, James Bond movies, Spider-Man movies, A Star Is Born -- they were all successful despite being rebooted with new casts.

That's not to say a Lost reboot is a good idea. I'd have to see a script. But I could be sold on the idea if the script were good enough. There are so many angles to work off that island. I would leave the original characters alone, since we did complete their stories -- whether you liked the final season or not.

If Lost ever does get a reboot, it will happen without the original Lost bosses. Here's what co-showrunner Carlton Cuse said a couple of years ago:

However, Damon Lindelof told EW in 2017 that he's not against someone else rebooting Lost with new characters:

So he has the exact opposite take on Star Wars, and the idea of a Lost reboot, than Evangeline Lilly. That's just another reminder that there's no one "right" way to see anything.

Over on NBC, Manifest seems like it's kinda sorta going for its own version of Lost. It's not a reboot or remake, it just seems inspired by Lost.

I would love to go back to the island, if someone out there writes a script that's worth exploring, and if they can create characters and cast actors worthy of such a return. Lost is an incredibly tough act to follow. It's not worth doing unless it's done right -- and not just to please people who didn't like the original ending and want a redo. Go sign one of the million petitions.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going strong since it launched in 2008 with Iron Man, and while movies like Spider-Man: Far From Home, Black Widow, Black Panther 2, and more will keep the franchise going into its Phase Four and beyond, the end of an era is approaching. Avengers: Endgame will conclude not just Phase Three of the MCU, but also wrap up numerous plot threads. While Avengers: Infinity War was long advertised as the biggest Marvel movie yet, rest assured that its follow-up will be just as important, if not more so.

Because Avengers: Endgame is such a big deal for the franchise, Marvel Studios is, understandably, keeping details for Earth's Mightiest Heroes' fourth epic tale close to the chest. However, there is a fair amount of information that's already available to the public, including a teaser trailer, so read on to find out what we know about the movie so far. Be warned, though. This guide is filled with SPOILERS both mild and extreme about Infinity War and Ant-Man and The Wasp, so proceed with caution if you haven't seen either film yet!

What Have We Seen From Avengers: Endgame?

Given that Avengers: Endgame is going to be one of the biggest movies of all time, the marketing team behind the movie hadn't exactly been super active - though the good news is that they have now released several trailers and teasers to get us even more pumped for the film. The first preview from the blockbuster dropped online and in theaters in December 2018, and fans have been rewatching it over and over trying to squeeze out as many details as they can (something which will probably be evident as you continue reading this guide).

While another trailer dropped during the Super Bowl, it was more of an extended TV spot than a full preview. But, of all the recent teases we've gotten of footage from the film, though, the biggest reveal may have been in the form of a series of posters which seem to confirm a lot of living and dead characters, including ones we didn't get to witness from Avengers: Infinity War.

What Is The Avengers: Endgame Release Date?

Unlike the previous three year gaps between Avengers movies, Avengers: Engame will be released only a year after Avengers: Infinity War, on April 26, 2019. Its principal photography began in late summer of 2017, only a few weeks after Infinity War wrapped shooting. Avengers: Endgame was previously known as Avengers: Infinity War Part II, but, in 2016, that title was removed to make it clear that the film will have its own specific story to tell rather than just being the second half of its predecessor. Of course, the movies will obviously be linked because of the way in which it will deal with the fallout from Thanos' snap.

What Is The Avengers: Endgame Rating?

Movies aren't given ratings from the MPAA until the film is basically completed and ready for release, but like the rest of the MCU movies you can guarantee Avengers: Endgame will head into theaters with a PG-13 rating so that it can be accessible to both adults and younger moviegoers (but not too young). The reasons for being PG-13 will likely include having "extended/intense sequences of violence, action and destruction," along with some "suggestive comments" and language. These are nothing out of the ordinary, although keep in mind that Avengers: Endgame will probably ratchet up the intensity to an 11, so remember that if you're bringing kids along to the theater.

The Avengers: Endgame Writers And Directors

Avengers: Endgame is keeping the same creative team that guided Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War , and Avengers: Infinity War to success. Just like with those movies, Joe and Anthony Russo will be sitting in the directors chairs, while Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (who also wrote Captain America: The First Avenger) have penned the script. As the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," and by keeping these creative teams intact fans can look forward to a degree of familiarity.

Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr. helped kick off the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man in 2008, and he's maintained a consistent presence in the franchise since then. However, with Avengers: Endgame ending both the MCU's Phase Three and wrapping up what the franchise has been building to for a decade, it's certainly possible that this will be the last time we see Downey's Stark. After 10 appearances, one wouldn't blame the man for wanting to retire from his Iron Man life and fully focus on other projects. For Tony Stark, this could mean anything, from dying in battle to simply leaving his superhero activities behind. All we know for certain is that at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, he was still stranded on Titan, one of the only two superheroes remaining on the dead planet after Thanos' snap. From the trailer it looks like he was able to leave Titan on a ship so that he could try and to get back to Earth, but he'll need a miracle to survive the actual journey (something tells us that he'll be getting one, though).

Captain America

Like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans' future after Avengers: Endgame remains uncertain. Evans was originally contracted for six Captain America appearances, but he extended it for one movie so he could participate in Avengers: Endgame. That being said, there has been some implication that he will be departing the MCU after the blockbuster - though that has yet to be confirmed. In any case, rather than suiting up as Nomad as previously rumored, Steve Rogers will be reverting back to his clean shaven look and a more traditional Captain America costume for Avengers: Endgame, where he'll reportedly have a bigger role as he tries to save the lives of half the entities in existence, and reunites with his trusty shield. Beyond that, we don't know what's in store for him, though we hope that the movie will also find some way to resolve the conflict that he's had with Tony Stark since the end of Captain America: Civil War.

Thor And Loki

The ultimate fate of Asgard and most of its inhabitants was sealed once Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War were released, but one thing we do know is that Thor will live on to fight in Avengers: Endgame. The God of Thunder has lost a whole hell of a lot in recent features, including his brother, Loki; his best friend, Heimdall; his father, Odin; most of his people; his homeworld; and even his eye - but that's not going to stop him from continuing to fight the good fight. To no one's surprise, Thor, played once again by Chris Hemsworth, will be continuing his heroic duties and fighting alongside his fellow Avengers in the fourth chapter of the team-up series, and we can bet that the weight of all his pain will be heavy for the God of Thunder (not to mention insane regret for not going for Thanos' head with Stormbreaker). And while Loki has always been a wild card, and there has been speculation that he could still be alive, it would seem that this time his death is permanent.

Hulk

Thanks to Thor: Ragnarok, we know that Hulk had been spending the last few years killing it in the gladiator ring on Sakaar, but because of events during the opening of Avengers Infinity War he found himself back on Earth to help try and pummel Thanos and his minions. It ended up being Bruce Banner in one of Tony's Hulkbuster suits who ended up doing the fighting, however, as the green monster refused to come back out after his beatdown from the Mad Titan. Mark Ruffalo has said that Hulk/Bruce Banner's has a specific arc that's playing out across Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and the idea is that together the story will feel like a standalone movie for the character (who hasn't been gifted with a solo movie since The Incredible Hulk in 2008). Avengers: Endgame will also be the culmination of the "huge change" Hulk will go through starting in Thor: Ragnarok, meaning that we will likely see a lot more cooperation between Bruce and Hulk by the time the film is over. Could we finally see Banner and Hulk melding into one super-strong, highly intelligent individual a.k.a. Professor Hulk?

Thanos

Ever since he smirked at the camera in The Avengers mid-credits scene, Thanos has been lurking in the background of the MCU, but in Avengers: Infinity War he finally stepped into the light when he and his Black Order minions secured all six Infinity Stones so that he could obliterate half of all life in the universe. The Mad Titan's involvement in Avengers: Endgame, on the other hand, is shrouded in mystery. Josh Brolin had said that Thanos might not get all the Infinity Stones by the time Infinity War ended, and we now know that to have been a careful misdirect. We'll go into the 2019 blockbuster with the character being a god-like entity, but beyond that we have no idea what the film has in store for him.

Guardians Of The Galaxy

With the exception of Yondu, who gave his life to save Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, all the Guardians of the Galaxy returned for Avengers: Infinity War. Unfortunately, due to the events of that film, we'll go into Avengers: Endgame with Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon and Karen Gillan's Nebula as the only members to survive Thanos' snap. That makes it a particularly big challenge to predict what they'll be up to when we get to see the characters next (though it was originally thought that Nebula just abandoned Tony Stark on Titan and didn't take a position in whether or not he should live or die, the new teaser that was released seems to suggest that she will end up helping him). It's worth noting that if Thanos does end up dying in Avengers: Endgame, we shouldn't count out either a somehow reconstituted Drax the Destroyer or Nebula being responsible for his demise, as they're both heroes with serious vendettas against the intergalactic warlord. As we know, though, they may have to stand in a long line to get their shot at that now.

Doctor Strange

We watched Doctor Strange begin his superhero journey in late 2016, and by the time of Avengers: Infinity War his magical abilities were most beneficial to his new allies... until they weren't, anyway. While we can't predict what we'll see from the neurosurgeon-turned-sorcerer in Avengers: Endgame without knowing how the good doctor will come back into the fold, keep in mind that even with his considerable talent, Doctor Strange isn't invincible, so he may still be going through a learning curve when we see him again in the 2019 film. Still, let's not forget that before he was dusted Doctor Strange used the Time Stone to look at the all the alternate futures concerning the coming conflict with Thanos, and in only one of them were he and his allies victorious. Strange knew ahead of time how things needed to proceed, and Avengers: Endgame will see those pieces finally fall into place.

Spider-Man

From traveling to Germany to fight other superheroes, to defeating a gang of thieves armed with enhanced weaponry, Peter Parker's life as Spider-Man hasn't been lacking in excitement so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In Avengers: Infinity War he put his arachnid-themed abilities to good use on a cosmic scale, and in an even more teched-out suit Tony Stark designed for him. None of his powers or technology were able to help him at the end of the movie, though, young Peter's demise at the end of that film being one of the most heart-breaking moments ever in a superhero movie. It's worth noting that Spider-Man: Far From Home will begin only minutes after Avengers: Endgame, so moviegoers will reunite with Peter immediately in the aftermath of this event and might get to watch him continue to deal with the effects of whatever brought him back to the known world.

Black Widow

Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow has been a key figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the franchise's third movie, and while we won't be seeing her first solo film until we're getting deeper into Phase 4, we know that she will be back and playing a crucial role in Avengers: Endgame. She is one of the few Avengers who successfully survived Thanos' snap, and going by the first trailer for the movie it looks like the upcoming blockbuster will catch up with her as she is working with Captain America to find a fix to the whole situation. Plus, she'll be reuniting with an old colleague, who we will be discussing more in a minute...

Black Panther

At the end of Black Panther, King T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) decided to open Wakanda up to the world, but he probably didn't expect that months later the African nation would have to repel an alien invasion. When Steve Rogers and his allies showed up asking for help protecting Vision and retrieving the Mind Stone, however, the royal superhero let them in and provided a battlefield against the deadly Outriders. Earth's Mightiest Heroes technically emerged victorious in that fight, but soon after T'Challa turned to dust thanks to Thanos' snap, and Okoye watched on in horror. Since Black Panther 2 is happening, we know T'Challa will eventually return. The question, like with all the other disappeared heroes, is how.

Hawkeye

Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton sat out Avengers: Infinity War due to being under house arrest, but rest assured that when Avengers: Endgame rolls around he'll be back in action. It's been confirmed that when we reunite with him in Avengers: Endgame he'll be known as Ronin, the identity he briefly donned in the comics following his resurrection. Why the identity change? Supposedly the events of Infinity War will leave Clint in a "very dark place," with the going theory that most, if not all, of his family was wiped out by the Thanos Snap. That would certainly put most people in the darkest of places. Exactly what his contribution to the fight against the Mad Titan will be isn't entirely clear right now, but he should be a useful tool if only just because he is chock full of motivation.

Ant-Man And The Wasp

While Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) were initially expected to appear in both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, we actually didn't get to see them until their recent solo sequel Ant-Man and The Wasp. If you've seen that movie, you know that things did not end particularly well for Scott Lang and his allies following The Decimation. Thanos' snap went down as Scott was in the Quantum Realm, and it erased all traces of not only Hope van Dyne, but also Michael Douglas' Hank Pym and Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet van Dyne. Somehow he'll make it back to Earth in Avengers: Endgame, as seen in the trailer, and and there are already theories on how the Quantum Realm plays into this gargantuan story, but otherwise, we're in the dark on how Scott fits into the proceedings.

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel's involvement in the MCU has been one of the franchise's biggest question marks, as Brie Larson's debut as Carol Danvers arrived just a couple months before Avengers: Endgame. Her whereabouts in the present day haven't been revealed yet, but Carol has been officially confirmed to appear in the Phase Three capstone project, presumably having her first opportunity to interact with the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. And, some are so excited by her appearance in Endgame, that they're even theorizing that she was digitally removed from some scenes of the new teaser to keep her time in the film a secret. Her existence was teased in Avengers: Infinity War's final moment when Nick Fury activated a suped-up pager right before disappearing that displayed Carol's insignia. Whatever the reason for her absence, her planet-moving powers will be most welcome when she finally returns to Earth.

Other Superheroes

Along with the previously mentioned superheroes, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Falcon and Winter Soldier are all confirmed to return for Avengers: Endgame (yes, even the ones who were dusted by the Thanos Snap at the end of Infinity War). Then there's The Vision, who was especially important to Avengers: Infinity War given that he was powered by the Mind Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones that Thanos craved. And, like many of those other heroes, we have no indication what will happen to Vision in Avengers: Endgame, or how the destroyed android might be brought back to life.

The Supporting Characters

Avengers: Endgame already has a stacked lineup of superheroes, but there will still be a number of other characters filling out the cast. In the supporting character category, only Iron Man mainstays Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan, as well as Doctor Strange's most trusted magical ally Wong, have been confirmed to appear, though you can bet that plenty of other familiar faces from the heroes' personal lives will be back as well. One of those will probably be Samuel L. Jackson's super spy Nick Fury (even though, yup, he got dusted), who's been absent in the present day MCU since Avengers: Age of Ultron. As far as new faces go, The Wolverine actor Hiroyuki Sanada has been cast in an undisclosed role, along with 13 Reasons Why star Katherine Langford, and they likely won't be the only new players thrown into the mix.

Marvel fans are gearing up for the big blowoff finale of Avengers: Endgame, but some Marvel heroes will be showing up a lot sooner than that. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle is the newest Disney theme park attraction to star Marvel characters and the new ride, which will be opening in March at Hong Kong Disneyland, will also include Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, reprising their roles from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While the fact that at Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle was on the way to Hong Kong Disneyland had been revealed previously, the new attraction has been given a firm opening date of March 31 by Marvel and a lot of new information was revealed, including more about how the attraction's story and how the ride will actually work.

As previously revealed, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle will be part of its own little theme park universe and will actually be taking place, from a story perspective, concurrently with the existing Iron Man Experience attraction. While Iron Man is busy defending Stark Tower, he'll call on Ant-Man and the Wasp to help defend the S.H.I.E.L.D. Science and Technology Pavilion, next door. Because Arnim Zola's Swarmbots are so small, only the Wasp and Ant-Man can get small enough to take them on efficiently.

However, there are far too many of them for even the two superheroes, so that's when they call on the guests to help out. Each rider will board a S.H.I.E.L.D. Defense/Assault Ground Rover ("Dagger") and be issued an EMP blaster, so that they can help blast the swarmbots.

The ride itself appears to be something like Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters or possibly Toy Story Midway Mania, whether guests will be shooting at actual physical targets like in the former attraction, or onto screens, like in the latter, is unclear.

It sounds like the attraction is full of real objects, though there may also be screen involved as Marvel has confirmed that Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly themselves will be part of the attraction, so they likely appear on screens. What's more, the sequences using the MCU actors were directed by Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed, so it seems that they were likely filmed during the most recent Marvel movie. There will also be a unique score by Christophe Beck, who previously scored both Ant-Man movies.

What's even better than watching the MCU unfold is being part of it, and the fact that Marvel Studios is working alongside Disney Parks in order to create experiences like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle and Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout, just ads a new level of immersion to rides like this.

Of course, the downside for many of us is that getting to Hong Kong to experience this attraction is unlikely. Some Disney Parks experiences that start in places like Hong Kong or Shanghai do make it across the pond to Disneyland or Walt Disney World and while there's no indication that's going to happen here, the possibility always exists.

By now, we know that the end-credits scene of Peyton Reed's Ant-Man and the Wasp occurs during the "Snappening" of Avengers: Infinity War. But Evangeline Lilly just elaborated on a key bit of the scene that was cut because it changed the tone dramatically, explaining:

Evangeline Lilly, who plays new Wasp Hope van Dyne in the Ant-Man movies, has been making the press rounds in support of the movie's DVD and Blu-ray release. And she mentioned how she didn't know that she was going to get dusted -- alongside Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer -- in the mid-credits sequence of Ant-Man and the Wasp.

So, the way she tells it to CBR, they probably filmed their reaction to the dusting in different ways. And they hadn't yet seen Avengers: Infinity War. So they didn't know that the dusting was tragic. And that meant their reactions had to be cut out of this pivotal scene. As Lilly elaborates:

So, they winged it. And they probably got it wrong. And therefor, their reaction scenes were trimmed.

Ultimately, it's fine. The point of the scene is to get Paul Rudd's character, Scott Lang, into the Quantum Realm at the end of the movie. We think this will be very important to Avengers 4, because Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) explains to Scott about time vortexes, saying they are bad. But really, we think they will be key to reversing what Thanos (Josh Brolin) pulled off in Avengers: Infinity War.

If you saw Ant-Man And The Wasp in theaters this past summer, there's a good chance that you heard a number of gasps during the movie's mid-credits sequence. It's a rather devastating setup ultimately, with Hope van Dyne and her parents killed by Thanos' snap (a carryover from Avengers: Infinity War) and Scott Lang left trapped in the Quantum Realm. It was even pretty shocking for star Evangeline Lilly, who recently had this to say about the scene:

With Ant-Man And The Wasp being made available for digital download this week, I had the chance to hop on the phone with Evangeline Lilly yesterday to talk about the movie, and my first question for her was about the end credits scene. I asked what her initial reaction was to the news that Hope van Dyne a.k.a. Wasp would be turned to dust, and while she was incredulous at first, not fully believing she is actually dead, the full weight of it eventually hit her.

Evangeline Lilly certainly isn't alone in her "I just got here!" sentiments, as fans have been awaiting the big screen debut of The Wasp for years. Not only was she constantly rumored as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase One (both when Ant-Man was in early stages and when Black Widow was only a maybe for Avengers), but the costume was heavily teased in the mid-credits sequence of Ant-Man, and she had to be written out of Captain America: Civil War. Peyton Reed's Ant-Man And The Wasp finally let us see the heroine in action -- but now, thanks to Thanos, she is currently dead in the MCU.

At the same time, however, Evangeline Lilly's first thoughts are also spot on, because it's impossible to believe that a character as important as Wasp is going to be killed off after one movie of superheroics. It's not even a problem time travel would really solve, since she truly spent very little time actually suiting up. We know that Lilly is going to be in Avengers 4, so she is coming back somehow, but the exact details are currently a mystery.

While we wait for Avengers 4, which is currently scheduled for the first week of May 2019, fans can now revisit Evangeline Lilly kicking ass in Ant-Man And The Wasp on digital from Amazon, iTunes, Google, Vudu, and other retailers. And for all you physical copy fans, the movie will be available on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD October 16th.

Since Ant-Man and the Wasp was released after Avengers: Infinity War, but largely takes place chronologically before the events of the major MCU shakeup, fans were very curious what sort of movie they were going to get. However, in the end, they got a post-credits scene which caught everything up that saw several characters from the film fall victim to the Thanos snap. People were shocked at the way the characters were taken out, and it turns out so was the cast. Evangeline Lilly admits that even when they filmed the scene, nobody really knoew what was going on. According to Lilly...

While everybody was informed that the scene would tie into Avengers: Infinity War, it seems nobody was told exactly how. In fact, Evangeline Lilly admits she played the scene entirely wrong, viewing it as a sort of "heavenly ascent" moment, rather than a "disintegrating into dust" moment. You can tell Marvel is trying to keep things quiet when nobody is even telling the actors what expressions they should have on their face. The actress just did the best she could with it while having essentially zero information.

Evangeline Lilly tells ET it wasn't until she actually saw Avengers: Infinity War that she understood how the Ant-Man and the Wasp scene related and that she'd played it entirely wrong. Of course, in the version that was put in the movie, we never actually see Hope, Janet, or Hank actually disintegrate. We just cut away from Ant-Man in the Quantum Realm to discover that the three of them are already gone.

The moment is a pretty strong punch in the gut to the audience who spends two hours having a good time and laughing at all the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp, then sees three major characters wiped from existence. It basically only leaves Ant-Man left to have any major impact on Avengers 4, and that's only if he doesn't spend the entire movie swimming through the Quantum Realm.

The fate of the Wasp is tied to the fates of half the galaxy. While most fans have an expectation that she and everybody else will return one way or another, that's far from a guarantee. Still, we only just got to see the Wasp kick ass and most of us would certainly like to see more of that. You can relieve the part we have with Ant-Man and the Wasp now out on Digital and Blu-ray.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is the third movie Marvel released this year. And though it's hard to escape the shadow of Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther, that didn't stop the sequel from being a fun and entertaining adventure. The movie has racked in a not-at-all-shabby $600 million worldwide, outperforming the first movie in the process. The sequel is still playing in certain theaters, but it won't be long before it arrives on shelves filled with extras and deleted scenes. Maybe one of those scenes will be what Evangeline Lily teased earlier this week, which you can see below.

Nowadays, after movies release in theaters, it takes all about five minutes before they make it on Digital HD. So, you really won't have to wait much longer before the lastest MCU movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp, is available for purchase. It'll no doubt have a bunch of behind-the-scenes extras like cast and crew interviews, featurettes, and the always delightful gag reel. And, of course, there will be deleted scenes-- those that just weren't up to snuff to make it into the finished movie. It's anyone's guess as to what those scenes would be, but one of them might involve a trip to a taco truck.

Evangeline Lily played Hope van Dyne aka the Wasp in the superhero sequel, finally getting the chance to get in on the action. Lily has been engaging with fans on social media about her role, and teasing various elements of the sequel for a while. Her latest post shows off a still of some raw footage from Ant-Man and the Wasp that never made it into the movie. It involves Hope and Paul Rudd's Scott Lang walking together after stopping at a taco truck. Given their romantic history, they could be ironing out their feelings while dealing with the whole intangible lady wanting to kill them thing. If the scene was cut, it likely wasn't that important for the movie. Even Lily, perhaps jokingly, commented that the scene was bad.

The romance between Scott and Hope wasn't a significant focus of the movie, so it would have been interesting to see a scene that fleshes their relationship out a bit more. Most of their relationship happened offscreen, so it'd be nice to see what they are actually like when dating. There's always Ant-Man 3!

The release date for Ant-Man and the Wasp on Blu-ray and Digital HD isn't officially confirmed yet, but we'll be sure to keep a lookout for new details. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a fascinating place right now, as fans are left to wait a full year until the events of Avengers: Infinity War are resolved with The Russo Brothers' Phase Three finale Avengers 4. There are two Marvel movies in the middle to satiate the fans, beginning with Peyton Reed's Ant-Man and The Wasp. The sequel has been a box office and critical success, while also introducing Evangeline Lilly's Wasp as a bonafide superhero. Lilly definitely stole the show throughout the course of Ant-Man's sequel, but it turns out that the Lost alum actually liked filming the first Ant-Man instead. As she recently told fans,

Well, I didn't expect that answer. Despite having an arguably larger role in Ant-Man and The Wasp, it turns out that Evangeline Lilly's first performance as Marvel's Hope van Dyne was more enjoyable for the actress. If for no other reason than she had full ownership over her comic book character.

Evangeline Lilly's comments at Fan Expo Canada (via FTW vs WTF) are sure to surprise many Marvel fans, who totally fell in love with The Wasp throughout the course of Ant-Man and The Wasp. After being a supporting character in the first film, Hope's superhero identity was adopted, and she showed Scott Lang how to really get the job done. Since she shared the movie's title with Ant-Man, one would assume that Ant-Man 2 would be Lilly's favorite appearance in the MCU. But alas, all the stunt work, CGI, and Marvel secrecy actually made filming slightly less fun for the actress.

With The Wasp now a full fledged Marvel superhero, it should be interesting to see what comes next for Evangeline Lilly's character. She's currently on the long list of characters who vanished after Thanos' finger snap of death, and it's unclear how she'll be brought back-- if at all.

It's no secret that Avengers: Infinity War is full of some reasonably triumphant moments. From the return of Steve Rodgers to the victory over Ebony Maw, several notable moments made audiences cheer -- which is an excellent way to balance out the film's grim ending. But for Ant-Man and The Wasp star Evangeline Lily, the real cheer-worthy moment came during the Battle of Wakanda, when the Marvel Cinematic Universe heroines band together against Proxima Midnight. During an appearance at Fan Expo Canada, the Lost veteran said:

If you have seen Avengers: Infinity War, then you likely already know the scene in question. It occurs towards the end of the battle in Wakanda, just before Thanos arrives. Proxima Midnight corners Scarlet Witch on the battlefield, but Black Widow and Okoye come to save the day. It's an undeniably badass scene, and for Evangeline Lily, the strength of the female heroes banding together compelled her to cheer at the premiere.

As it turns out, Evangeline Lily's moment of triumph did not go unnoticed by other folks in the theater. In fact, elsewhere in her appearance at Fan Expo Canada, the actress said:

In the current state of Hollywood, nothing is more taboo than giving away spoilers to big blockbuster movies, but it looks like Evangeline Lilly may have done exactly that. Looking back at her social media feed from the end of last year, the actress posted an image of herself, complete with her Hope Van Dyne haircut from the first Ant-Man movie, and along with it, she chose a very interesting word that means quite a lot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe today.

The post was made back in December on Evangeline Lilly's Instagram but was only recently unearthed by Twitter user @LUCIFER who pointed out the interesting use of the word "dusted" before even Avengers: Infinity War was released, nevermind Ant-Man and the Wasp, the movie where Lilly's character herself suffered such a fate in a post-credits scene.

Of course, without any context, it just looks like a post about a successful day at work. "Done and dusted" isn't that unusual a phrase to use. However, given the fact that dust is exactly what half the MCU now is following "the snap" and the fact that Evangeline Lilly is clearly making a reference to Hop Van Dyne in the associated image, it's possible she was giving away the game, just in a way nobody was likely to notice. Evangeline Lilly celebrated the end of filming Ant-Man and the Wasp back in November which means that she had filmed the post-credits scene by the time she made this post in December.

If this isn't an intentional reference that Evangeline Lilly just knew nobody would get, then it is a fairly odd coincidence. It's always possible that's the case. Even though she almost certainly knew how both Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp were going to end, she might not have made the connection herself when she made her comment. Maybe.

Of course, if she did make the comment intentionally, then that means that we need to dig into the social media feeds of everybody in the MCU and see if anybody else has potentially dropped hints about Avengers 4 that perhaps we haven't figured out. Without context, it's virtually impossible to figure anything like that out, and Marvel has done a fantastic job of keeping us context-free, but now I have to wonder if the answer is out there someplace, just in a way we won't understand until after the movie comes out.

After her breakout role on Lost, Evangeline Lilly has been busy on big-budget films, including playing Tauriel in the Hobbit films and recently reprising her role as Hope Van Dyne in this summer's Ant-Man and The Wasp. The actress has her share of experiences on popular movie franchises, but she also once had her eye on a galaxy far, far away. When Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams stepped up to direct Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Lilly just couldn't resist asking if she could be a part of the much-anticipated resurgence of the franchise. Although Lilly unfortunately never appeared in Force Awakens, as she revealed:

Although after seeing the current Star Wars trilogy play out, it makes sense why Lilly couldn't get a spot. After all, it was Carrie Fisher who played Leia in The Force Awakens, alongside original stars Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. After Fisher suddenly passed after wrapping The Last Jedi, J.J. Abrams expressed that in honor of her memory, they wouldn't be recasting Leia. In fact, Leia will be in Episode IX through past footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There's no doubt Lilly could rock those space buns if given the chance, but her desired role just wasn't in the stars; there's only one Leia in this galaxy.

The new Star Wars films aren't without actors with ties to Lost, but if you blink you might miss them. Greg Grunberg, who played the pilot in Lost's first episode, was cast in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Snap Wexley, and is rumored to appear in Star Wars: Episode IX. Grunberg is also quite the regular in Abrams' projects, with appearances on Felicity, Alias, and Mission: Impossible 3. Lost alum Ken Leung also had a feature as Admiral Statura in the Force Awakens. Abrams is also collaborating with anoher television leading lady with Episode IX, as Keri Russell aka Felicity, will have an undisclosed role in his return to the franchise.

Evangeline Lilly recently spoke out about feeling mistreated on the set of Lost when filming nude scenes, leading the creators, including J.J. Abrams to release a statement apologizing to her. Even so, Lilly has also expressed her fondness for getting to play Kate Austen of the hit ABC television show. We would love to see Lilly and Abrams collaborate on another project together. Or more importantly get Lilly to play another awesome character on a big franchise such as the next Rian Johnson Star Wars trilogy in the works.

While team-up movies like Avengers: Infinity War are often the best part of the MCU for fans, the goal for many actors is leading their own solo superhero movie. However, one Marvel actress isn't interested. Evangeline Lilly who plays the Wasp recently admitted that she's not really looking for a Wasp solo movie down the road, as she feels the interaction between her character and Ant-Man is part of what makes Wasp special and fun for her. It's true that Ant-Man and the Wasp have been a duo for a long time in the comics, while most of the rest of the current MCU roster is made up of solo heroes who occasionally team up. That's not to say Wasp hasn't been given solo adventures in comics, but they do seem to be more the exception than the rule. Evangeline Lilly told a crowd at Boston Fan Expo (via ComicBook.com), that she's fine with the MCU imitating that strategy on the big screen.

The chemistry between Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne was one of the highlights of the first Ant-Man, even before Evangeline Lilly got to become a superhero herself in Ant-Man and the Wasp and it only got better from there. Lilly herself seems to feel that without that interaction something in her character would be lost.

Of course, that's not to say that Evangeline Lilly is entirely against separating her character from Ant-Man under the right circumstances. She does reveal one scenario under which she'd be more than happy to leave Paul Rudd behind.

Seeing an all-female version of the Avengers would be awesome and the Wasp would be necessary. The character was a founding member of the Avengers in the comics and would certainly belong alongside other female MCU heroes like Black Widow and the forthcoming Captain Marvel.

Of course, at this point, when we'll see the Wasp again at all is a bit up in the air. Hopefully, everything will be fine once Avengers 4 is over.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been on a serious hot streak lately, as every film in Phase Three has been both a critical and financial success. But the future of the MCU is largely up in the air, as the studio hasn't revealed plans for Phase Four, or what will happen after the events of the still untitled Avengers 4. There are plenty of ideas being tossed around, including projects that seem like more of a pipe dream than a viable option. The latter includes an all-female Marvel movie, which was informally pitched by some ladies of the MCU to Kevin Feige. Plenty of Marvel's femme fatales have expressed their interest, and it turns out that Ant-Man and The Wasp's Evangeline Lilly has some specific ideas for the potential project. Namely, which character should lead the team. As she tells it,

That's certainly a new exciting aspect to the constantly rumored female Marvel movie. Every team needs a leader, and Evangeline Lilly believes the Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, who will finally debut in her solo movie, is the perfect choice. Given her massive powers and experience in the Air Force, Lilly's got a point about Carol Danvers' leadership abilities.

Evangeline Lilly's comments to Pop Buzz will no doubt excite the many Marvel fans out there who are hoping that future is female in the MCU. While the first two phases of the shared universe focused on white male characters, Phase Three helped to diversify the shared universe, focusing on characters of different races, ages, and genders. Ant-Man and The Wasp and Captain Marvel are the first installments to feature female characters in the title, and the idea of bringing all of the MCU's complicated and hard as nails ladies together is almost too good to pass up.

Excitement over an all-female Marvel movie began months ago, when Thor: Ragnarok's Tessa Thompson revealed she and MCU stars Brie Larson, Scarlett Johansson, and Zoe Saldana had actually come up with the idea at a party, and then spoke to former Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige about it. While far from an official pitch or a business meeting, the idea of Marvel's women teaming up for an adventure got the fandom very excited. Evangeline Lilly seems similar jazzed, adding:

Now is the perfect time for the MCU to take some risks, because The Russo Brothers certainly didn't hold themselves back during the events of Avengers: Infinity War. So many characters died that audiences dumbfounded, and it's unclear how the greater shared universe will continue after the events of Avengers 4.

Earlier this week, Evangeline Lilly spoke out about her previous experience on ABC's Lost. While she had a lot of positive things to say about her time on the series playing Kate, she also brought up having to film some nude scenes for the network TV show, saying they made her uncomfortable. Over the weekend, the creators behind Lost -- Damon Lindelof, J.J. Abrams, Carlton Cuse and Jack Bender -- released a joint statement addressing Evanveline Lilly's comments. The statement reads:

The creators were responding (via Deadline) to comments Evangeline Lilly had made on a recent episode of the Lost Boys podcast. In the interview, the Ant-Man and the Wasp actress talked about how she was asked to film scenes in various states of undress, and that she felt she "had no choice" regarding the scenes. She also said the experience was mortifying, noting,

The nudity was only one of the complaints Evangeline Lilly had about Kate. She also said that she liked the character early on, but as the series wore on she hated the fact that Kate was always chasing after men on the series. While her complaints extend beyond the nude scenes, it was the nude scenes that stood out and ultimately Lilly's feelings were strong enough that the likes of J.J. Abrams and Carlton Cuse felt they needed to respond. On the bright side for Evangeline Lilly, the actress now has a firm footing in the MCU, which doesn't delve as deeply into mature content. In terms of those movies, we often get to hear her thoughts on things like costumes in the MCU, instead. But if you hoped the actress might be interested in a Lost reboot at any point, you're probably out of luck.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in an interesting place right now, given the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The entire shared universe is in flux, with Thanos' finger snap putting multiple franchises in jeopardy. While fans will have to wait until May for any answers, Marvel studios is continuing its release schedule, starting with Ant-Man and The Wasp. Peyton Reed's critically acclaimed sequel allowed Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne to make her superhero debut as the titular Wasp. Lilly has made her excitement about Hope's increased role clear, although she did have one note when approaching the sequel: more romance. As the Lost alum tells it,

While she may not have liked being in the middle of a love triangle for Lost, romantic plot lines are still important to Evangeline Lilly. And considering the palpable feelings that Scott and Hope have for each other throughout both Ant-Man films, she's got a point.

Evangeline Lilly's comments show how purposefully everyone involved in Ant-Man and The Wasp took the film's plot. The sequel had great pacing, balancing the superheroic adventure with Scott Lang's final days of parole and responsibility to his daughter. Add in the romantic tension between he and Hope, and the film could have easily been bogged down by too many plots.

Luckily, Peyton Reed managed to balance all of Ant-Man and The Wasp's narrative threads, which included the constantly shifting dynamic between its title characters. While Hope expressed her disappointment with Scott joining the Captain America: Civil War tarmac battle and breaking the Sokovia Accords, their reunion and rekindling was a gradual process. They eventually shared a kiss, although Ant-Man and The Wasp was hardly a rom-com.

In her same conversation with Digital Spy, Evangeline Lilly shared how the filmmakers found the balance of the romantic plot, and how she thinks ultimately Peyton Reed achieved the right balance, especially when it came to making Hope as dynamic a character as possible.

Ultimately, Peyton Reed made Ant-Man and The Wasp a fun, wild ride that served a palette cleanser for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And while its characters may have also been affected by Thanos' finger snap, the movie largely focused separate from the rest of the shared universe.

Evangeline Lilly has most recently been seen on the big screen in Ant-Man and the Wasp, but the actress made her name years before that on the set of ABC's Lost, where she played Kate Austen. Although she was one of the most visible women on TV during the time of the show's original run, she has now revealed on The Lost Boys podcast that her time on set was not all fun and games. Lilly went on to talk about the role of Kate in the podcast, noting she felt that the character had fewer and fewer big storylines as the show moved forward, although she was quick to react and say she "was not opposed" to romance. All in all, she seems to have some frustrations with the way her ABC character came together between 2004 and 2010. She also says she isn't arguing with the fact her character became one of the biggest female characters on television at the time, but she still says she feels like her character could have been better, citing an example of the time she was captured after chasing after Jack and used as a bargaining tool in a plot that really "irritated the shit" out of her.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Evangeline Lilly revealed there were nudity-based scenes during the making of Lost that left her feeling vulnerable and uncomfortable. According to the actress,

On the one hand, any nudity that appears on network TV is tame compared to the stuff that shows up on say HBO or Showtime; however, it was the experience on set that seems to have upset Lilly. Still, for the most part, Evangeline Lilly had positive things to say about her Lost experience and how it helped her to be a professional actress, also noting 'this crazy business has been good to me" after revealing about the ABC series and even saying that she liked that Kate had flaws. In addition, Lilly said:

Evangeline Lilly's Marvel character, Hope Van Dyne, wears business attire and even a super suit in the movies, and Lilly says one thing she really likes about the role is that she is fully clothed the whole time. So, it looks like after Lost, Lilly was able to take on roles that more suited her personality and what she felt she was willing and able to bring to roles. You'll---hopefully!---next be able to catch Evangeline Lilly in the still-untitled Avengers 4.

This summer, Ant-Man and the Wasp arrived in theaters and the movie delivered on the promise of finally introducing audiences to The Wasp. After her debut in Ant-Man, Evangeline Lily got to suit up and deliver a memorable performance as The Wasp, working perfectly as a more serious counter to Paul Rudd's Scott Lang. Isn't it weird how Ant-Man can control ants and use them for all sort of situations, but the Wasp can't do the same with wasps? Not that she really needs to do that, but maybe wasps just aren't as versatile as ants. Whatever the case is, Evangeline Lily probably wished that she could control wasps after one stung her. The actress shared the story over Twitter in a video post, explaining that she was stung by a wasp for the first time. She's currently trying to control the swelling by smearing toothpaste on it, but she's expecting a full recovery. The suspected wasp is currently in police custody.

After making her debut as Hope van Dyne in Ant-Man back in 2015, Evangeline Lily formally suited up as the Wasp in Ant-Man and the Wasp. The movie tracks her mission to rescue her mother, the original Wasp Janet van Dyne, from the Quantum Realm, but the villainous Ghost intervenes with motives of her own. While one of the more intense characters in the very silly movie, the Wasp still got plenty of chances to get in on the fun. She also got some pretty cool action sequences, so fans are excited to find out where she will appear next in the MCU.

Well, those fans won't have to wait long. The Wasp will make her appearance on a grander scale in Avengers 4, but there aren't many details about what her exact role will be. Evangeline Lily has previously said that she isn't in the movie for very long, but given what happens at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp, that's still a pretty intriguing statement. Ant-Man has already gotten some Avengers time in Captain America: Civil War and will do so again in Avengers 4, so it'll be interesting to see how Hope interacts with the rest of the superhero community.

These movies almost always come packed to the brim with gags, but few have ever reached the heights of humor in Peyton Reed's Ant-Man and The Wasp. Not only is it a hilarious movie in its own right, but it also offers up a perfect antidote for the overwhelming sadness of Avengers: Infinity War.

Scott's Daily Routine Under House Arrest

Paul Rudd is the kind of movie star who oozes charisma, and Ant-Man and The Wasp capitalizes on that by just letting him cut loose in one of Scott Lang's first scenes. The guy has been on house arrest for the last two years, and it's clear that he has gotten pretty bored, so he's taken up more than a few strange habits. It makes for a fantastic montage, as we see Scott do everything in his power to try and pass the time -- ranging from playing the drums to crying while reading The Fault in Our Stars. It's honestly a perfect way to set up the movie, as well as to remind us that Scott Lang is not a macho tough guy like Thor or even Captain America; he's a sensitive dad who's not afraid to have some fun.

Woo Explaining Scott's Crimes

Global politics are hard to dumb down for a child to understand, and Agent Woo does an abysmal job of explaining Scott Lang's crimes during the events of Captain America: Civil War to Cassie, Scott's daughter. Initially starting off on the right foot with a metaphor about how it's bad to draw on the walls, the explanation falls apart when he starts talking about Scott going to Germany and drawing on the walls with Captain America, eventually devolving into complicated exposition regarding the legal ramifications of Scott's actions. Cassie Lang is very clearly a smart girl in the Ant-Man movies, but Woo did not read his audience well at all when he opened his mouth.

Janet Possessing Scott's Body

Ant-Man and The Wasp doesn't skimp when it comes to awesome, well-utilized science-fiction tropes, and one of the best examples is when Janet van Dyne possesses Scott Lang to provide Hank and Hope with the information that they need in order to get her out of the Quantum Realm. The scene is heavy on exposition, but it also gets some of the biggest laughs, especially once the audience remembers that Scott Lang is actually completely unaware of what is happening to him (which shines through perfectly when he comes to and notices that he's holding Hank's hand). The kicker? Paul Rudd actually does an amazing impersonation of Michelle Pfeiffer, and we wonder how much he practiced that.

Truth Serum

Ant-Man and The Wasp is packed with some great running gags, one of which comes in the form of the ever-present debate over whether or not truth serum actually exists. The chemical cocktail is first suggested by Luis, Kurt, and Dave when they're captured by Sonny Burch's gang, with the henchmen insisting that the syringe they use is not the cliché that constantly pops up in movies and TV shows. Nevertheless, the three wombats remain unconvinced throughout the run of the movie, and their persistence actually forces Burch and his men to eventually realize that they actually HAVE been using truth serum when they find themselves injected with the substance at the end.

Scott As A "Kid"

Prior to the release of Ant-Man and The Wasp, on-screen evidence told us that Scott Lang could either make himself incredibly large or incredibly small depending on the needs of the situation. However, things get a bit more complicated in this latest film when the Ant-Man suit keeps failing him. As a result, there are several moments in the movie (particularly when he infiltrates Cassie's school) that the Pym Particle technology winds up making very strange. Scott is left standing around three or four feet tall, and he has to hide in plain sight by pretending to be a child. The gag then continues after he gets out of the school, as the pint-sized Avenger is mocked mercilessly by Hank and Hope in the van.

Baba Yaga

The John Wick franchise isn't the only action film series that can make jokes about the Baba Yaga now, and Ant-Man and The Wasp really pulls it off. The scene in question comes when Sonny Burch and his henchman corner Luis, Kurt, and Dave to interrogate them about where Scott, Hope, and Hank have gone. The mystical beast of Slavic origin had been previously teased earlier in the movie, but then Ghost appears out of nowhere and confirms Kurt's belief that the Baba Yaga actually exists. Ghost's arrival in the scene comes out of nowhere, and the combination of jump scare with a solid joke gets a big laugh.

Close-Up Magic

Sure, Doctor Strange's Dr. Stephen Strange may be on the road toward becoming the Sorcerer Supreme, but he's not the only member of The Avengers roster who has the ability to use magic. More specifically, Scott Lang spent quite a bit of time learning the ins and outs of close-up magic during his time under house arrest, and the technique comes up multiple times in Ant-Man And The Wasp's story. The tactic eventually comes in handy when they want to beat Ghost, but the funniest moments come when simpler characters like Agent Woo and Paxton cannot figure out how Scott does his illusions. Even in a world where The Hulk and Thor exists, simple card tricks still seem to excite them.

Luis' Story

Remember when Michael Pena got to cut loose as Luis in the original Ant-Man and tell his rapid-fire stories? Well, Peyton Reed and the folks at Marvel clearly realized that those sequences worked with fans back in 2015, because we get yet another awesome tale narrated by Scott's ex-con best friend in the sequel. This time we learn the backstory of Scott and Luis' friendship during their time in prison (and see the awesome hairstyle that Luis was rocking at the time), as well as Luis' perceived version of the events that transpired during the original Ant-Man. We don't know if Ant-Man 3 is going to happen, but if it does, then we really want to see more of these stories.

Ant-Man And Cap

Have you ever met a celebrity or a public figure and then tried to play it up like you and that person are much closer than you really are? Well, Scott Lang has, and it turns out that he's a Captain America fanboy after the events of Captain America: Civil War. The thief-turned-superhero is forever changed by the act of working alongside The First Avenger, and that notion shines through in how he constantly name drops Captain America (or Cap) throughout his mission with Hope and Hank. The kicker? Hope is not particularly interested in what Scott has to say about the star-spangled hero, and she doesn't even seem impressed by his newfound status as an almost Avenger.

The Seagull Gag

It is a major testament to the Ant-Man franchise that it manages to make us feel so many complex emotions for the ants -- who never actually get to speak or express themselves in any meaningful way. Scott's own affinity largely helps in this department, and you can see it in the anger he feels when seagulls keep eating them when he tries to catch a ride at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco during the climactic chase of Ant-Man and The Wasp. Those pesky flying creatures are what keep him from going after Sonny Burch, and it isn't until Ant-onio Banderas swoops down to pick him up that he's able to continue his pursuit. Alas, Ant-onio ends up perishing as well, forcing Scott to become Giant Man one more time.

The Dinner Plans

Last but not least, we finish up our list with one of the best gags between Scott Lang and Agent Woo - specifically at the end when the FBI breaks into Scott's house in an attempt to catch him as he returns from his mission with Hank and Hope. Scott is able to evade capture with the help of his daughter, and Woo tries to act tough by stating that he will be seeing Scott around. Woo means to play the moment off like a cliché macho cop, but Scott highlights the ridiculousness of it by implying that Woo is asking him to dinner -- which Woo eventually does when it becomes clear that he actually kind of likes Scott.

While Marvel fans are still reeling from the shocking final moments of Avengers: Infinity War, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has kept rolling, introducing its first new blockbuster with Ant-Man and The Wasp. Peyton Reed's sequel follows up on the events of 2015's Ant-Man, allowing Hope van Dyne to become a full fledged superhero in the process. While Hope got to throw a few punches inAnt-Man, she was mostly left out of the film's biggest action sequences. But this time she's got half the top billing alongside Ant-Man. CinemaBlend's Eric Eisenberg recently spoke with actress Evangeline Lilly about her process as Hope, and asked if she re-watched the original film in preparation. The answer is a resounding yes, with Lilly saying:

While Hope was showing a bunch of new colors in Ant-Man and The Wasp (including a new haircut and superpowered suit), Evangeline Lilly found it critical to go back and re-explore Peyton Reed's first Marvel blockbuster. Considering the character's emotional arc in each of her two appearances, it makes a great deal of sense.

While Ant-Man and The Wasp sees Hope and her father Hank Pym united in a mission to bring Janet back from the Quantum Realm, they were working through some serious issues throughout the first film. Hope felt neglected and hurt from their mutual loss, which was eventually worked out throughout the movie's runtime. This allowed her to truly team up with her father in the acclaimed sequel.

In her same conversation with Eric Eisenberg, Evangeline Lilly explained how she wanted Hope's portrayal to be different in Ant-Man and The Wasp to show her emotional growth.

This change in dynamic can definitely be seen in Ant-Man and The Wasp, as Hope really shines in her new superheroic role. Hope is decidedly lighter hearted, and able to banter alongside Scott Lang and the rest of the cast. And with calls for more female Marvel heroes, we can assume she'll be around for the long haul. That is, if Ant-Man and The Wasp's post-credit scene doesn't prevent that.

Clearly Evangeline Lilly is taking on her role as Hope van Dyne seriously, especially now that she's become one of Marvel's roster of heroes. And while Peyton Reed maintains that a third Ant-Man movie isn't guaranteed, it would be surprising if Marvel Studios turned its back on the still growing franchise.

One of the coolest things heading in to this weekend's Ant-Man and the Wasp is finally getting to see Evangeline Lilly's superhero take center stage donning a badass costume that is all her own. The Wasp costume was teased in Ant-Man, but now we're finally seeing it in action. The actress has spoken at length about the costume and how it's actually not that uncomfortable once she's able to get it on (with the help of three other people). Although looking that cool and maintaining that level of comfort requires making some sacrifices. In this case, that means changing her eating habits, as Evangeline Lilly explained:

I like how honest Evangeline Lilly is here speaking to Everyday Dish on KDVR, admitting to not being one of the stereotypical actresses who somehow survive on small bites throughout the day. Like many of us, she'd rather sit down and have a full meal. But being a big screen superhero requires compromise, so for Ant-Man and the Wasp, she had to become that "LA girl" she described and eschew her preferred routine of a full breakfast, lunch and dinner. Evangeline Lilly has touched on this before, saying that the suit is already tight to breathe in, and it definitely doesn't allow you to eat large quantities at a time and still fit in it. So she nibbled on bee pollen during her time as the Wasp. Fortunately, even though it goes against what Evangeline Lilly is accustomed to, eating in small quantities throughout the day is probably a bit easier during the long days on set versus just being at home and falling in to that pattern.

Superhero costumes are extremely tight, and sadly, there is no real-life Edna Mode who can make costumes that allow you to breathe, eat whatever you want and be comfortable while still looking good. At least Evangeline Lilly seems to actually really like her costume and enjoy being a kick ass superhero, whereas some of her MCU comrades have absolutely hated their costumes before coming around.

All that nibbling on bee pollen was worth it too judging by her performance in the film. Evangeline Lilly's Wasp is a believable badass in the costume who moves with grace and ferocity and steals every action scene she's in. Hopefully this is just the beginning and Evangeline Lilly will be rocking that costume in MCU films for years to come.

Evangeline Lilly found fame and success relatively early into her acting career when she was cast as Kate Austen in the ABC series Lost, which she was a part of from beginning to end. During that six-year run, Lilly also appeared in a few movies, like The Hurt Locker, but in the years after Lost ended, she jumped into the blockbuster film game when she appeared as the elf Tauriel in the latter two Hobbit movies. As it turns out, we have those movies, and specifically director Peter Jackson, to thank for Lilly not retiring from the acting world.

As Evangeline Lilly explained to THR, she "felt very uncomfortable" being launched into international stardom when she joined Lost. So after the show ended, she acted alongside Hugh Jackman in Real Steel, but once that wrapped up, she intended on retiring from acting. And that was the case for two years, with Lilly having a child and writing scripts during that time and not being in contact with Hollywood at all. Then, she received a "covert call" from Peter Jackson, who knew about her relationship with Dominic Monaghan, a Lord of the Rings alum and fellow Lost star, and hadn't had any luck reaching her through the normal entertainment channels. Jackson offered Lilly the Tauriel role, but the actress felt torn about taking it. Lilly continued:

So if Peter Jackson had never called Evangeline Lilly to play Tauriel (an original character) in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, then Lilly might have stuck to her retirement, and another actress ultimately would have played the elf protagonist. But because Jackson did give Lilly a ring, it took her down a new path that, as she noted, led to her discovering that she could balance both her acting life and her other interests/family. From there, she was cast as Hope van Dyne in Ant-Man, a role she's reprised for Ant-Man and the Wasp, but clearly those Hobbit movies will hold a special place in her career.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a massive landscape that draws from a deep well of source material. In fact, CinemaBlend's own Eric Eisenberg recently had a chance to ask the cast and crew of the film to talk about some of the film's attention to detail and things to look for in the movie, and they homed in on some of the interesting elements in Hank Pym's lab that showcased the power of the Pym Particles. So, make sure to keep an eye out when you finally get a chance to see Ant-Man and The Wasp on the big screen. Hank Pym's lab isn't just a storytelling device; it's packed to the brim with some awesome details, ranging from paper clips to bread clips. In fact, Evangeline Lilly even got a behind-the-scenes photo of herself holding an oversized bread clip, and I think it's safe to say that we all want to see that photo now.

Of course, this is very much on brand for what we have come to expect from the Ant-Man corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Peyton Reed's franchise has become known for its inventive used of oversized (or undersized) objects to enhance the story and add depth to Scott Lang and Hank Pym's adventures, and not all of them are directly related to the main plot of the films. Some details (like a bread clip to keep wires together) are just fun ways to jar the audience and keep them off balance while telling a story.

One specific thing worth noting about Peyton Reed's remarks is the fact that he wanted to make Hank Pym feel distinct from Tony Stark -- another wacky scientist from a different corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Instead of having everything looks sleek and polished in the way that the Iron Man hero often does, Hank's version of a lab is far messier, with improvised devices made of large (or small) items powering the equipment and holding it all together.

Ant-Man and The Wasp picks up two years after the events of Captain America: Civil War. Scott Lang has been under house arrest since signing on to fight alongside Team Cap, but he finds himself dragged back into action by Hank and Hope when it's discovered that his time in the Quantum Realm during the first film could hold the key to bringing Janet van Dyne back after being presumed dead for decades.

Original Lost cast member Evangeline Lilly played beleaguered heroine and love triangle epicenter Kate Austen on the ABC cult hit Lost for six seasons. As of 2018, the show has been off the air for nearly eight years. With that much time for nostalgia to build, so has speculation about a potential reboot. It all leads to an inevitable question: Would Lilly be open to returning if a reboot actually came to fruition? Here is what Lilly had to say:

The most important part of that comment may be "never say never." It is a smart answer because who knows what could happen if this potential Lost reboot actually came into being? Maybe the reimagining would be so good it would be impossible to turn down. Perhaps it would alter the controversial ending that left many fans dissatisfied. Evangeline Lilly's answer to EW did cover all the bases though without mentioning the ending.

The cast was a core part of Lost; it is difficult to imagine the show returning without the original ensemble. Whether fans would even welcome a reboot of the series is another mystery. Evangeline Lilly may share the thoughts of many who may not want to see the original series revisited at all. The question any reboot would have to ask itself is why it would need to return.

Given all of the mythology and the list of unanswered questions, Lost is one of the few shows that could entirely merit its return on a creative basis rather than simply basing its comeback on a sense of nostalgia. Albeit nostalgia can be a worthy enough reason for a series to return. With ABC touching heavily upon Lost while promoting its new reality series, it is apparent the beloved series is not far from The Alphabet Network's mind.

Since Lost came to an end, Evangeline Lilly has remained busy on the silver screen. In 2013 and 2014, she starred in the second and the third installments of The Hobbit trilogy. The actress currently has a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hope van Dyne/Wasp. She made her debut in the movie Ant-Man. While she has remained busy on the silver screen, Lilly has not had a role as a series regular on a television series since Lost came to an end. Could a reboot change that?

Lost fans will have to wait and see. Television is a very intense, long-term commitment. And if Evangeline Lilly were to return for a Lost reboot, that pressure would be immense given how it would be competing against the memory of the beloved and critically acclaimed sci-fi drama's original run. Anything is possible though.

Evangeline Lily has earned the distinction of being the first Marvel woman with her character's name in the title of the movie. Now that she's joined the boys' club, she's got something to say to the boys. The actress has heard numerous actors within the Marvel Cinematic Universe complain about how uncomfortable the superhero outfits are, but she apparently did not find this to be true when she donned her costume as The Wasp. Lily thinks the reason may be that men simply aren't used to being uncomfortable for the sake of looking good, which is standard practice for her and other women. According to Lily...

Since Evangeline Lily says that it takes three people to get her into her Wasp costume, I'm going to guess that she doesn't magically have the most comfortable costume of any Marvel hero. Therefore, it probably is that the men just aren't used to wearing uncomfortable clothes in order to look good. Everybody in the Marvel Universe has to get in tremendous shape in order to look like the superhero that they play. While the suit can certainly help in some regard, it also has to be quite formfitting, which, considering it usually covers the entire body, can't be entirely comfortable.

Of course, that's not to say that Evangeline Lily thinks her Wasp suit is perfect. While she generally sings its praises to BackstageOL, she does admit there is one issue she has with it. The fact that she can't put the suit on herself means she also can't get it off by herself.

In the final analysis, it seems that superhero costumes, while maybe not perfectly comfortable, maybe aren't as bad as other things that half the population wears on a regular basis. Still, as fans, we appreciate the sacrifice so that our movie superheroes look amazing. We'll get to see two of them on the big screen when Ant-Man and the Wasp arrives next week.

The last time we saw Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne, she was over the moon. After all, her father, Michael Douglas' Dr. Hank Pym, had finally accepted her future as a costumed hero, and revealed a new prototype suit for her to wear. It makes for one of the best end credits scenes in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe... but it has a funny real world ending. As it turns out, Lilly's first time actually getting to wear the suit for her titular role in Ant-Man and The Wasp didn't exactly go perfectly, as she explained during an on-set interview:

Evangeline Lilly shared this funny story when I was on set last year while Ant-Man and The Wasp was still filming down in Atlanta, Georgia. As part of a roundtable interview with a small group of other journalists, the actress was asked about her first time wearing the Wasp costume, and she shared that it wasn't the most memorable experience in the world. It turns out that it's pretty hard to nail a superhero get-up on the first try, and so it had to go back to the artisans and be reworked after the initial fitting.

They didn't exactly nail it on the second time either, however. The truth is that it took months of hard work to get the whole thing right, and the production even brought on a special seamstress to accentuate a certain aspect of the Wasp costume that Evangeline Lilly felt was important. Said the actress,

It was clearly a lot of work for all involved, but as you can tell looking at the finished result in the Ant-Man and The Wasp trailers and various stills it was all worth it. When it was finally perfected, Evangeline Lilly absolutely loved the finished result, and told us that she tried to spend as much time in the suit as she possibly could. Said Lilly,

When I sat down with Evangeline Lilly three years ago during the Los Angeles press day for Ant-Man, she had an immediate answer for who she wanted to play Janet van Dyne, a.k.a. her on-screen mother, in the sequel: Michelle Pfeiffer. Funny enough, this dream wound up coming true, with Pfeiffer being announced in the role last year -- but this doesn't mean you should start crediting Lilly for the suggestion. According to her, she may have put some good thoughts into the universe, but that's pretty much where it ended:

I had the pleasure of talking with Evangeline Lilly again last year as part of a roundtable interview on the set of Ant-Man and The Wasp, and the first question I asked was about Michelle Pfeiffer playing Janet van Dyne. I asked if she had any specific influence in the casting, possibly letting the producers know her thoughts, but that apparently wasn't the case. Instead, it's really just a case of things working out well.

Michelle Pfeiffer, of course, has an important history in comic book movies, having famously played Catwoman in Tim Burton's Batman Returns. She hasn't returned to the "genre" since, but is now coming back in a big way. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon, Janet van Dyne was the original Wasp, teaming up with Dr. Hank Pym's Ant-Man on missions during the Cold War. In order to stop a potentially deadly missile, she shrunk herself small enough to fit between the molecules of titanium plate -- and while she was successful in disabling the projectile, it was a sacrifice. Making herself that tiny essentially transported her to what's known as the Quantum Realm, where all meaning of time and space is lost. She's been there for the equivalent of decades in the normal world, but Ant-Man and The Wasp will see the heroes on a mission to bring her back.

At the time when I was on the Ant-Man and The Wasp set Michelle Pfeiffer hadn't started filming yet -- but Evangeline Lilly did tell us about her first opportunity meeting the actress. It was part of a shoot for a special San Diego Comic-Con video, and according to her, it went as well as she could have hoped. Said Lilly,

Outside of poster shots we haven't really seen much of Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet van Dyne yet, but we don't have too much longer to wait. Ant-Man and The Wasp will be in theaters on July 6 -- and we have plenty more set visit coverage coming your way between now and then.

The upcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp is a direct sequel to 2015's Ant-Man, but the biggest difference in the approach is right in the title. Rather than just being another Scott Lang story, Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne will be promoted to co-lead in the film, and she will personally be driving half the story. This means that she will have her very own personal motivations and goals she's trying to achieve, and as we learned from director Peyton Reed on set last year, a lot of it centers around her hope to rescue her mother, Janet van Dyne, played by Michelle Pfeiffer. Said the filmmaker,

In the first Ant-Man, Hope van Dyne primarily serves the story to help Hank Pym and Scott Lang orchestrate a heist, but from what I gathered while visiting the set of Ant-Man and The Wasp last year, the sequel will be quite different. While the movie will still see plenty for Paul Rudd's character to do, serving house arrest at the start of the story due to the events that played out in Captain America: Civil War, the story will give equal time to Hope's important mission, which will be finally rescuing her mom from the mysterious Quantum Realm.

Making sure that Hope had a strong plot line and arc in Ant-Man and The Wasp was seen as essential by Peyton Reed and screenwriters Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, and Paul Rudd -- and perhaps even more important was making her independent. While there certainly will be plenty of team-ups in the film, it was key to not have her specific motivations entirely tied up in what's going on with the other key characters:

Exactly how The Wasp, with help from Ant-Man and her father, will go about rescuing Janet van Dyne remains mostly a mystery for now, but from what I learned on set it sounds like she will have a very limited time window to get it done, and that it will involve a specially-designed pod that is set up in a Quantum Realm tunnel set up in Hank Pym's transportable lab. Beyond that, we'll just have to wait and see how the mission plays out in the film.

Speaking of which, Ant-Man and The Wasp, which co-stars Hannah John-Kamen, Walton Goggins, Judy Greer, Michael Pena, Laurence Fishburne, David Dastmalchian, Randall Park, T.I., will be in theaters on July 6th, and there is plenty more set visit coverage coming your way here on CinemaBlend.
