Eric Matthews was never the sharpest knife in the drawer. Throughout Boy Meets World’s 158 episode run, he’s portrayed as a little slow, but exactly how dumb he is has a lot to do with what season you’re watching. If it’s during the early years, he’s goofy and maybe a little dim-witted but still a functioning human being. If it’s during the later years, he’s barely capable of a rational thought. It’s something fans have noticed for years, and now, the cast is commenting on it too.

The trio from Pod Meets World, the popular Boy Meets World podcast featuring Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle, recently sat for an interview with Parade, and during the conversation, the subject of stories they wished they pushed back on during the initial run came up. The actors brought up Topanga and Cory getting married so young and the Mr. Feeny marriage plotline that went nowhere, but it was Friedle’s observations about Eric that really got fans talking.

The actor who played the beloved older brother said he liked the level of dumb Eric was during the earlier seasons, but he thought he got too stupid during the later seasons. Here’s a portion of his quote…

Both Fishel and Strong laughed but also implied they agreed with his comments, and they definitely weren’t the only ones. A clip of the conversation went viral on TikTok and picked up more than two hundred comments. An overwhelming majority of them are about how dumb Eric got and how frustrating it was to watch. A lot of them especially enjoyed the reference to Tommy, as that plot found a really good balance between Eric as an idiot but also a kind-hearted person who was capable of thoughtful moments. For those of you who may not have a memory of every single Boy Meets World character, Tommy was an orphan who was introduced during a big brother/ little brother plotline with Eric. The two had a really fun bond that sometimes played into Eric’s lack of intelligence but also let Eric step up in moments and have thoughtful conversations. Eric ultimately decides not to adopt Tommy in a really emotional moment, and he ends up moving away with another family. Almost two decades later, he circles back and appears on Girl Meets World too.

Eric Matthews is far from the only character on television that waffles in intelligence throughout the show. During certain seasons of The Simpsons, Homer is a slightly dumber version of an average joe, and during other seasons, he struggles to read or do basic math. Kelso from That 70s Show is another example that jumps up or down 25 IQ points depending on what joke the writers feel like making.

Issues with Eric’s intelligence aside, Boy Meets World quite clearly occupies a special place in the hearts of many fans of a certain generation. It’s a joy to see the bond Fishel, Strong and Friedle have built with fans through their rewatch podcast, and it’s been nice to see most (though obviously not all) of the show’s stars drop by for appearances.

Boy Meets World emerged as of the best TGIF comedies of all time, and its success eventually spawned a successful spinoff on Disney Channel, Girl Meets World. The offshoot ran for three seasons and launched the Grammy winner Sabrina Carpenter, who remains close to co-star Danielle Fishel today. The revival, which premiered in 2014, apparently got off to a rocky start, and not just because there were some creative issues involving the franchise's OGs. Fishel, Rider Strong, and more revealed that finding out about the show actually wasn't fun.

Girl Meets World sees Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga Matthews (Fishel) living in New York with their two kids, with Cory being a teacher and Topanga working as a lawyer. At the center of the show is their daughter, Riley (Blanchard), who comes of age alongside her friends. Aside from Savage and Blanchard, a lot of original Boy Meets World stars appeared from time to time, including Strong and Will Friedle, reprising their roles as Shawn Hunter and Eric Matthews, respectively.

Fishel, Strong, and Friedle -- who have been promoting their new documentary, Doc Meets World -- recently opened up about the beginnings of Girl Meets World. While talking to Parade, the trio looked back at their time on the spinoff, with Strong and Friedle revealing they weren't formally notified that the show was in development. As they explained, they found out in a less ideal manner:

• Rider Strong: We didn’t get the call. We found out about it in the press.
• Will Friedle: Nobody told us Girl Meets World was happening.
• Strong: It wasn’t a great experience. Finding out about Girl Meets World, at that time, it was not fun. And then, we were asked to be on the show. For me, it was just an opportunity to direct again and like, really take that seriously in that part of my creative life. I was not excited to act again.
• Friedle: I wasn’t either, and the only reason I went on is because that the deal was if I did a few episodes, I could write an episode.

Considering Strong and Friedle appeared on Girl Meets World several times and had some fun and important storylines, it’s surprising to know that they didn’t even know about the series until it was announced. It’s also understandable that they’d only want to sign on so they can direct or write an episode or two, especially if they weren’t particularly keen on reprising those characters. For Strong, at least, he didn’t think it was the right time to do the show despite signing on anyway:

Boy Meets World ended in 2000 after a seven-season run, and Girl Meets World premiered in 2014, not quite 15 years later. In hindsight, that time span does seems a bit short relatively speaking, and Strong isn’t the only one who felt like that. Fishel, who starred in all three seasons of the spinoff before it was canceled in 2017, voiced her own initial concerns about doing the series. Not only was she at a completely different place in life, but she was trying to think of the logistics of the timeline between the two series:

Even though it seemed a little too soon, the timeline does work out. Cory and Topanga have a middle school student daughter at the start of GMW, so the logic is sound. Nevertheless, I can understand the stars thinking a slightly long gap would've been more sensible. While the show could have come at a different time, Fishel went on to admit that she just couldn’t pass up that opportunity, so she put her other life on hold:

Ultimately, Fishel's instincts proved to be correct, as GMW did strike a chord with viewers at the time. Overseen by returning producer Michael Jacobs, the spinoff expanded on the BMW continuity and added new layers to the established characters. Not everyone from Boy Meets World was asked back, though, as cast member Maitland Ward has been candid about not receiving an invitation. Ben Savage has seemingly put that part of his life behind him.

Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel and Will Friedle have all been candid about the complexities of their relationships with both of the Meets World shows. Many of those thoughts have been shared on their Pod Meets World rewatch podcast. While they've been honest about their experiences making the shows not always having been positive, they also understand just how much the work itself means to people. With that, as a fan, I'm glad they participated in the spinoff, even if they didn't find out in the most optimal way.

I was one of the many kids who grew up watching Boy Meets World reruns (and “And Then There Was Shawn” has even been a rewatch of mine every Halloween). So, when Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong were among the alumnus that migrated to the spin-off, Girl Meets World, I was excited for any and every reunion. Since that offshoot ended, the two actors have been brutally open about their experiences on each set. With that, it's not surprising to hear them get real about being protective of the spinoff’s young cast while also dealing with creative issues.

The characters of Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence are integral parts of Girl Meets World (which is streamable with a Disney+ subscription), but the actors were actually passing the torch to Rowan Blanchard and a pre-“Espresso” Sabrina Carpenter. Yet the producers found every opportunity to bring back cast members for emotional and ridiculous reunions. Fishel and Strong spoke with US Weekly while promoting the new Boy Meets World documentary, Doc Meets World, at the Tribeca Film Festival, where Fishel recalled her spinoff experience:

Via their rewatch podcast, Pod Meets World, Fishel, Strong and co-star Will Friedle haven't shied away from talking about the episodes they felt are incredible, nor do they sugarcoat any episode they think is a clunker. It’s this honesty that I feel has made their podcast so successful. While they’re giving fun BTS stories, they’re also being honest about growing up as child actors. And sometimes those experiences, especially for Fishel, who was a young girl at the time, can be uncomfortable.

In hindsight, it now seems like Fishel and Strong's own experiences contributed feel so protective of their younger Girl Meets World co-stars. The pair talked about how they wanted to inspire confidence, but they also wanted to create an environment where the teens felt safe and comfortable. Strong backed up his co-star about the fun they had on set and the easy-going relationships they fostered with the younger cast members:

As a fan of the show, I hope those methods helped forged positive experiences for the then-up-and-coming actors. Several have actually spoken fondly about the adults they worked with, and even Sabrina Carpenter is still close with Danielle Fishel today. However, despite this, Fishel has spoken about creative struggles between the two generations and how this taught her a valuable lesson. She explained:

Michael Jacobs created Boy Meets World and its eventual spinoff, and the actors have spoken fondly of him on occasion. However, the stars have also been real about some issues they had with Jacobs' creative choices. While speaking to Us, Strong opened up about idolizing Jacobs as a kid but getting to know him more as a person when they reunited for the spinoff.

As for Strong and co.'s documentary, it chronicles the national tour they did for Pod Meets World, and the film was previously teased as a new post-podcast project. During which they’ve talked about their struggles, but they’ve also talked about their friendships. Despite often bringing up drama that went down, Fishel and Strong, along with Friedle, have also spoken positively about their time with their former co-stars on both shows.

Specific drama that has come up includes Maitland Ward bringing up old spats with Fishel, and Trina McGee blasting Ben Savage for his alleged behavior toward her on set. In recent years, Savage has also seemingly distanced himself from his former colleagues, and he chose not to join the podcast when they asked.

However, Rider Strong and Danielle Fishel have shared intriguing stories about showrunner Michael Jacobs, who they described as “a genius,” and William Daniels, who played everybody’s favorite teacher, Mr. Feeny. Even Fishel and Strong still share stories about what they learned from Daniels while on set. Given how the pair looked after their young castmates, I can imagine Daniels being proud of them.

Sabrina Carpenter is arguably one of the biggest pop stars in the world right now, so it’s hard to believe she got her start on Disney Channel over a decade ago. She starred as Maya Hart in the Boy Meets World sequel series Girl Meets World from 2014 to 2017, which is streaming with a Disney+ subscription. To this day, she remains close to Danielle Fishel, who reprised her role as Topanga Matthews, and even though it’s been close to a decade since the series ended, the women's bond has not diminished at all.

While Topanga was like a second mother to Maya on Girl Meets World, Fishel and Carpenter are like sisters in real life. The actress has shown much support to the singer over the years as her career has been blowing up, from seeing her open up for Taylor Swift to seeing her on SNL to even dancing to one of her songs on Dancing With the Stars. However, this is a two-way street, as the 26-year-old Grammy winner has become her “go-to” person for feedback. Fishel told People:

It’s sweet to know that Fishel feels comfortable enough to go to Carpenter for advice, and that Carpenter is always willing to give it out. The fact that the two of them can go to each other about stuff and are still close after all these years makes me happy. And a lot of times when Fishel goes to Carpenter, it’s really just a reminder that the Boy Meets World star already knows the answer:

Fishel and Carpenter’s friendship is my favorite thing to come out of Girl Meets World. It was clear that their characters were close on the show, and it’s even better knowing that they’re just as close in real life, even with so many years passing and the "Espresso" singer's career reaching new heights.

I also love how they both give each other advice and support all the time. When Fishel was competing on DWTS last fall and using one of her former co-stars’ songs, Carpenter sent a video cheering her on. Not surprisingly, the song she used was also the actual version, and not one covered by the DWTS band, so Carpenter was quick to clear the rights, once again showing that she will always be there for Fishel.

The only thing that would make what Fishel said even better is if the two worked together again. However, Carpenter seems to have put acting on the back burner for her singing career (though I wouldn't rule out the two working on a music video together). At the very least, their friendship is clearly not going anywhere, regardless of projects Carpenter or Fishel are busy doing. And I really hope that continues far into the future, and that the advice and support never stops.

For years drama has brewed between Boy Meets World stars Danielle Fishel and Maitland Ward, with the latter accusing Fishel of rude on-set behavior and saying the Topanga actress didn’t want her on set at Girl Meets World. The feud came to a head on Fishel’s podcast — which she co-hosts with fellow BMW alumni Rider Strong and Will Friedle — and accusations flew between the actresses during a long and heated argument.

Maitland Ward joined the cast of Boy Meets World (available to stream with a Disney+ subscription) in Season 6 and has remained close to some members of the cast. She’s even said Will Friedle was “so supportive” of her career transition into porn. As for Danielle Fishel, there was no love lost, and after an enlightening discussion of Ward’s adult film career on a recent episode of Pod Meets World, the actresses finally aired their grievances, with Fishel kicking off the tense discussion by asking point-blank:

Danielle Fishel said she’s read the things Maitland Ward has said about her and their podcast over the years, and Ward turned it around to recall how Fishel was apparently cold to her on set of the spinoff Girl Meets World, which aired from 2014 to 2017:

• Ward: No, I don’t hate you. I think that you hate me because you wouldn't speak to me on Girl Meets World, and that was hurtful.
• Fishel: I wouldn’t speak to you? I did talk to you.
• Ward: No. No, not really.

Maitland Ward said she felt slighted that Danielle Fishel had unfriended her on Facebook after attending her wedding in 2006, and she ignored a Facebook message she’d sent Fishel congratulating her on her own wedding and the spinoff. Ward continued:

Rider Strong and Will Friedle came to Danielle Fishel’s defense when Maitland Ward recalled the guys hugging her and being happy to see her when she visited GMW, pointing out that they had time to talk to Ward because they weren’t working like Fishel had been. The exchange continued:

• Fishel: Yes, I was working. I was definitely working.
• Ward: No, you had an attitude about it, though, because I know you. There was some beef between us, and I didn’t get it. And maybe I picked up the wrong signals, but definitely there was some sort of weirdness there.
• Fishel: And so what did you think it was?
• Ward: I didn’t know at all. I didn’t know if you thought I was trying to come onto the set and take over, not take over but, like, try to steal attention or something. But I didn’t know. I really was very genuinely confused why we wouldn’t be good.
• Fishel: I don’t feel as though I was not good with you, but I definitely didn’t have a relationship with you, like, ‘Oh my gosh, my long-lost friend Maitland!’ I was working.

Danielle Fishel went on to say Girl Meets World was “a very, very difficult set,” and not at all like they’d experienced on Boy Meets World. She called it “tumultuous,” and got validation from her former co-stars when she said she felt ostracized and criticized. She said she was sorry if that came across as something personal. However, Maitland Ward wasn’t quick to accept the apology, saying:

Danielle Fishel had another bone to pick with the adult film star regarding her comments to the media about their podcast:

• Fishel: It seems like almost anytime the podcast is in the news, in the press, there’s a quickly followed up TMZ interview with you.
• Ware: Oh yeah, everybody’s interested. Yeah, they always want to know.
• Fishel: How do those happen, by the way?
• Ware: Because they come and get me. They find me on the streets.
• Fishel: Oh my gosh. I don’t know if I’ve ever been found on the street.
• Ware: Are you trying to accuse me of using you? Are you trying to accuse me of something?
• Fishel: No, I’m just wondering, because they’ve never stopped me outside of my house.
• Ware: They’re not stopping me outside of my house.
• Fishel: OK. I don’t know where they’re stopping you. I was just wondering, because it hasn’t happened.
• Ware: It’s an awfully big concern for you right now.

The charged conversation continued with Danielle Fishel basically saying she’d tried to have this conversation in private but that Maitland Ward wanted to do it on the podcast for ratings, or as Ward allegedly put it, to “rock the stats.” Ward countered that she thought Fishel’s wishes to reach out to her privately were disingenuous.

I don’t think it can be said that the two necessarily found common ground, but they did seem to at least hear each other out and were eventually able to get back on track to talk about Boy Meets World.

We’ll have to see if this discussion can serve as the end of the actresses’ beef with each other, or if this heated conversation was just another footnote in the Boy Meets World drama.

Ben Savage may have already figured out the world years ago, but one story of his seems to be just at the beginning. In a new post, the star of the beloved '90s sitcom Boy Meets World is hinting at a new chapter of his life, and it’s as sweet as can be.

In a recent post to Instagram, Ben Savage shared a sweet couple’s picture, indicating in the caption that the best is yet to come. While he didn’t say anything else, nor put any symbolic emojis that would give it away, could he be hinting that he just got engaged?

The picture does include Savage’s girlfriend Tessa Angermeier, whom he’s been with for years, according to Us Weekly, wearing a ring. Although it’s not confirmed, plenty of his famous friends took to the comments of the post to share their congratulatory messages. It’s a strong possibility, but the actor has yet to come forward with the full story, however, all signs are pointing to the couple saying, “I do.”

Ben Savage has come a long way since Boy Meets World and since he was Danielle Fishel’s first kiss. If he is engaged, could this be a way to get one big BMW reunion? The cast is still close, and they even reunited five years ago for Matthew Lawrence’s wedding engagement. But either way, Savage looks as happy as ever, and he’s clearly ready for whatever life throws at him.

Meanwhile, Savage has been busy in a different department since the end of the Disney Channel revival, Girl Meets World. He’s been focused on making Lifetime movies, which is why he wasn’t able to join his former co-stars with their podcast venture, as it also wasn’t really his thing. It’s still possible he could join them for a future episode of the rewatch podcast, but as of now, fans will just have to hope he reunites with them in a different way. Perhaps a wedding?

This year is already off to a very special start for some, making it clear that 2023 is going to be a great one. Hopefully, Ben Savage confirms his engagement soon to stop the speculation. And if this is an engagement or simply just a cute couples photo he is clearly in a good place, and more than ready to begin this new chapter with the love of his life by his side.

As for the rest of the Boy Meets World cast, most of them are still keeping the show near and dear to their hearts, even if not everything said about the TGIF series is good. Trina McGee has gotten candid about the mistreatment she experienced on set, while Maitland Ward has opened up about being sexualized on the set of the series. While these are serious concerns, Boy Meets World is still a fan-favorite today and still resonates with fans after 30 years.

Maitland Ward has been spilling Boy Meets World tea for some time now. Even before releasing her memoir, the actress-turned-porn star wasn’t afraid to call out the show or her former castmates from time to time. Interestingly, Ward was one of the few BMW stars not to appear on the spinoff/sequel, Girl Meets World. With this, Ward recently called out Disney for not asking her back for the show, which predated her porn career.

Based on the comments she's made over the years, Maitland Ward's overall journey as a Boy Meets World star has been complex. Though she recently spoke out about the 2010s spinoff series, she also took some time to discuss her work on the OG show. She mentioned on the Skinny Confidential Him and Her podcast that playing sexy roommate Rachel gave her a bit of culture shock due to her strict Christian upbringing. Her role also came with some downsides, as Ward has discussed being hypersexualized via risqué scenarios (like her character choking on a hotdog) that were crafted for the sitcom. Ward even remembered trying on lingerie in front of Disney executives without any agency. 

Despite all of that, the actress was taken surprised when she wasn’t asked back for the Disney spinoff series. She did visit the set at one point and apparently received a mixed response from both the cast and crew. (She even claimed that Danielle Fishel hating her presence on the set.) The adult film actress went on to allege that her absence from the Disney Channel sitcom was due to hesitancy on the House of Mouse and some of her former castmates' parts:

But what's really puzzling to Maitland Ward is the fact that her porn career hadn't started yet. She further explained that when Disney launched the kid-friendly Boy Meets World follow-up, she was in different phase of her career. She explained:

One can only imagine how things might've gone down if the actress had been tapped to return for Girl Meets World, considering the apparent state of her relationships with some of the cast. For instance, addition to chastising for her set visit Maitland Ward also called out Danielle Fishel for alleged rude behavior during a Boy Meets World reunion. During her recent interview, she recalled the young cast having petty teenage differences and referred to them as “a dysfunctional family.”

Still, she doesn't seem to be at odds with everyone from the show. After speaking about the way series creator Michael Jacobs purportedly treated her, Maitland Ward revealed that the two of them had made amends. Ward appears to be done apologizing for her porn career and, over time, she's earned support from some of her colleagues. She's mentioned that Jacobs, Trina McGee, and Will Friedle were supportive of her career shift. Whether or not that provides her with some kind of solace in regard to not appearing on Girl Meets World, though, is hard to say.

A trend has seemed to be happening in the entertainment world lately, as celebs have begun to call other famous faces out for rude behavior they’ve shown in the past. JoJo Siwa took a shot at Candace Cameron Bure, before Lisa Kudrow was accused of being “one of the worst humans” that The Hills star Spencer Pratt had ever met. Now, Boy Meets World actress Danielle Fishel is (once again) facing accusations of disrespectful behavior on set, with former co-star Maitland Ward saying in her new memoir that Fishel ignored her at a reunion, and may have had other issues with female cast members on the show's spinoff Girl Meets World.

Maitland Ward, who joined the cast of Boy Meets World in Season 6 as Rachel McGuire, released a memoir, Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me from Hollywood, in which she documents her move from TV actress to porn star. In the book, she recalls seeing Danielle Fishel at a Boy Meets World reunion, and said she was completely ignored by Fishel, who starred on the show as Topanga Lawrence. According to Ward in the book (via The Sun): 

Maitland Ward also said there were issues between Danielle Fishel and Trina McGee on the set of Girl Meets World, the spinoff in which Topanga and Cory (Ben Savage) raise their two children. A number of the OG series stars made appearances on the DIsney Channel project, including McGee, who played Angela Moore in Seasons 5-7 of the TG sitcom’s run on ABC. Ward spoke in her memoir about Fishel allegedly not wanting to act with other female actresses. She said: 

Trina McGee has spoken a lot in the past about the racism and other issues she faced during her time on Boy Meets World, and Maitland Ward seems to be referring to comments McGee made on Twitter in 2020, when she called out an unnamed co-star:

In another tweet, Trina McGee spoke about other disrespectful behavior from her fellow castmates, saying that after 20 years she was done being nice. She said: 

A few months later, Danielle Fishel tweeted that she was who Trina McGee had been referencing. She revealed the two actresses had spoken, and she’d apologized for her behavior on the set of Girl Meets World: 

While Danielle Fishel may have been able to talk things out with Trina McGee, it seems Maitland Ward has not enjoyed the same closure, as she made the choice to include those passages in her memoir. Perhaps those potentially burned bridges will be rebuilt anew because of it.

In this fantasy series, Selena Gomez stars as Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place. This series tells the story of the Russo family, three siblings who all have magical powers and must learn to control them. Whoever is the best wizard in a couple of years will have to face off to see who can keep their magical powers. 

When I grew up, I loved watching this series. Originally, it was because I was a fan of the Harry Potter series and loved anything magical, but over time I realized it was because it was genuinely just a fun show. The acting is fun, the stories are entertaining, and the magic is, well, magical. It’s the perfect show that both children, teens, and adults could enjoy. I’m so glad that Selena Gomez has gotten back into acting as of late, since she is a part of the Only Murders in the Building cast, because she’s great in this.

Elena of Avalor 

Animated and adventurous, Elena of Avalor tells the story of Princess Elena, a teenager who saved her kingdom, Avalor, from an evil sorceress and must now learn to rule as its crowned princess. 

Look, I won’t lie. There have been many spin-offs of Disney princesses, and all their Disney films, but this one is an original princess created for the Disney Channel. And, honestly? She’s one of the best. Elena is fierce, determined, and kindhearted, everything that a princess should be. Plus, she’s Disney’s first Latina princess, showing how far representation has come in the media.

Ducktales 

Fasten your seatbelts, because we are going on a nostalgia trip with the new version of Ducktales. In this series, Scrooge McDuck is reunited with Donald Duck and his three nephews when they move into his manor, creating mayhem. 

There’s a reason why Ducktales was so popular back in the day. The hijinks that the nephews would get into, mixed in with classic Disney characters and so many other hilarious moments created great TV, and a series that was poised to come back even stronger. The cast is also fantastic as well, with the likes of Danny Pudi from the Community cast, Beck Bennett from Saturday Night Live, David Tennant from Doctor Who, and so many others offering their voices.

Girl Meets World 

Looking at another spinoff, we take a look at Girl Meets World, a spinoff of Boy Meets World. In this version, Cory and Topanga are all grown up and married, and now have a daughter named Riley, who is growing up and going through everyday challenges just as any kid would. 

Boy Meets World was a huge show back in the day, so it was only a matter of time before a spinoff featuring Cory’s daughter came out. I really enjoyed it. Do I think it’s just as good as what the original Boy Meets World cast did? No - I personally don’t think any spinoff could come that close. But I do believe that Girl Meets World offers fun storytelling and compelling characters that kids will love and adults will like as well. Sabrina Carpenter is definitely my breakout star for this show, but the whole Girl Meets World cast is awesome, too.

Gravity Falls

In this popular animated series, Gravity Falls tells the story of twins Dipper and Mabel Pines, who travel to live with their great uncle, “Grunkle” Stan. He runs a mystery shack, a tourist attraction in the town of Gravity Falls, but this is only the beginning to their crazy and wild adventures in the area. 

I know this show was on Disney Channel, but Gravity Falls reminds me of an adult show that could be on Netflix, with the likes of BoJack Horseman or Big Mouth. It’s not raunchy like any of those adult animated comedies, but there’s still so much humor that only older people will really get, and there are so many fun lines, hysterical characters, and a super cool animation style, that children will enjoy it just as much. Mabel and Dipper are such a fun pair as twins, but Grunkle Stan steals the show.

Handy Mandy

Handy Manny is another great animated show from Disney, featuring the character of Manny Garcia. He is a handyman who lives in the town of Sheetrock Hills, and goes around trying to fix everyone’s problems. 

Arguably, this is the most youth-focused out of all of the shows on here. I remember watching this when I was super young. But, I recently gave it a re-watch as an adult while babysitting, and to be honest, it still holds up. Each episode features a new lesson on how to be a good person and help out, and also comes with some great tunes that will make you smile and move your body. Wilmer Valderrama also does a great job voicing Manny, creating a caring man who truly just wants to help others.

K.C. Undercover

Next up, we have another awesome Disney Channel live-action series. K.C. Undercover tells the story of K.C. Cooper, a teenager who gets recruited by her parents after she discovers that they are actually spies working for a secret agency called The Organization. Soon, she becomes a spy herself. 

While Zendaya got her start on Disney Channel on Shake It Up before K.C. Undercover, this show is where she shows her personality and her amazing comedic timing. I feel like with all the awesome projects she’s been doing, we haven’t seen her comedy skills in so long, but K.C. Undercover shows that she’s great in that genre as well, and knows how to deliver an entertaining yet action-filled show. Plus, she kicks major butt.

The Lion Guard 

You want more Pride Rock? You’ll get plenty in The Lion Guard. Prince Kion is the son of Simba and Nala, and the sister of Kiara. Since he is the second-born cub, he is gifted with a power called the Roar of the Elders, and becomes the leader of the Lion Guard, a team whose job is to protect the Pride Lands and defend the Circle of Life. 

It’s a spinoff of The Lion King. What more could you ask for? The Lion Guard is a worthy successor to the famous Disney film. As someone who grew up watching The Lion King, I find genuine enjoyment in this show. While the animation isn’t as fantastic as the film (it is a TV series, after all), there’s still so much beauty to behold, along with some dynamic characters that only add to The Lion King world. And, it’s always nice to see Simba and Nala together again.

Phineas And Ferb 

Oh, Phineas and Ferb. This animated series follows the titular step-brothers, who make it their goal to make the best out of their summer and do a new adventure every day, while their older cistern, Candace, tries to get them in trouble with their mother. 

In this show, it feels like summer goes on forever. I swear, I don’t know how they kept coming up with ideas for these boys to try, but Phineas and Ferb try everything. This show has some great tunes that will get stuck in your head for years to come, along with characters that will make you hold your side from laughing too hard. The cast, featuring the voices of Ashley Tisdale, Alyson Stoner, Dee Bradley Baker, and so many more shine above the rest, and create an awesome TV show both kids and adults can enjoy. The show even received an original movie on Disney+ years after it ended - that just shows how popular it was.

Raven’s Home

You thought Disney Channel was done with Raven Symone? Not the case with Raven’s Home. In this show, Raven and Chelsea from the original That’s So Raven, have moved in together, both divorced and single mothers, raising their children in an apartment. But soon, their world is turned upside down when they realize that Raven’s son, Booker, has psychic abilities just like his mother. 

It seems like half of this list is spinoffs, but Raven’s Home is again one of the good ones. While I do love the original cast of That’s So Raven, a show you can also watch on Disney+, there’s just something about the Raven’s Home cast that makes me smile. The new additions of the kids work well together, having almost effortless chemistry, while the friendship of Raven and Chelsea has never grown old, and they have an awesome dynamic now, even as mothers instead of teenagers. You have to give this show a watch.

Monsters At Work 

Ever wondered what happened to Monsters Incorporated after Monsters Inc.? Well, Monsters at Work answers that ten fold, by following a new monster named Tylor, who is trying to work his way up the ladder at Monsters Inc. now that they use laugh power instead of scares. 

Monsters at Work is a refreshing sequel to the popular Pixar film, and creates entertaining laughs that not only kids but adults will enjoy. Anyone who's worked at a corporation like Monsters Inc. can relate to Tylor's struggles of trying to impress and be promoted, and the new characters in the Monsters at Work cast are fantastic additions that add so much silliness and joy to the monster world. John Goodman and Billy Crystal even returned to voice Sully and Mike.

Miraculous: Tales Of Ladybug And Cat Noir

Lastly we have Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. In this new series, we follow modern-day Paris teenagers Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste, who can transform into their superhero personas, Ladybug and Cat Noir using magical jewels known as Miraculous when evil is afoot. 

Personally, Miraculous was after my time and I didn’t grow up watching it, but I know a lot of younger kids who have enjoyed it, and even some older ones that find it entertaining as well. I gave it a shot and I see where the praise comes from. The two title characters work well both as normal everyday teenagers and as superheros, and in a world that is saturated in superhero movies and TV shows, I’m glad to say that this one prides itself on being not only kid-friendly, but educational too.

Are your kids wanting to watch some TV right now? Put on one of these awesome shows. Not only will they have a new series that they will love, but you can finally stop watching Cocomelon all day. 

Rowan Blanchard has secured a new role on television. It's a good thing too, seeing as Girl Meets World is officially dead and gone, and the actress was going to need something new sooner or later. The young actress, who not too long ago wrote a passionate farewell to the aforementioned show, will now have a spot on the ABC series The Goldbergs as a guest star.

Rowan is confirmed to appear on at least one upcoming episode during Season 4 of The Goldbergs. Rowan will play an editor of William Penn Academy's student-run sci-fi/fantasy magazine. The role sounds pretty quirky and nerdy, which would fall in line with the same characteristics portrayed by Riley Matthews, the fictional character portrayed by Rowan Blanchard on Girl Meets World. It is unclear if her role will be a one-off or if the show will maybe feature her down the line. For now, her episode is scheduled to premiere sometime in either late winter or early this coming spring.

It appears Rowan Blanchard isn't having trouble finding more roles in Hollywood following the cancellation of Girl Meets World. As TV Line mentions, Rowan has a couple film appearances coming up as well. Rowan will first appear in the upcoming sci-fi fantasy film A World Away, which is set to premiere this year. Blanchard will star in the film as Jessica, who travels with five other friends to the Grand Canyon but somehow ends up in another world. She is also slated to appear in the popular Madeleine L'Engle novel turned Disney film A Wrinkle In Time, although her role for the film has yet to be revealed. Weirdly enough, both films seem to have similarities in their plot, so maybe fantasy and sci-fi is the new genre for Rowan Blanchard?

As for Girl Meets World, producers of Girl Meets World have been hopeful they can find another network to bring back the show, although no new information has come to light in the past month since that announcement. The series started strong with a little over 5 million viewers in its pilot episode, but the numbers soon dwindled to a little under 1.5 million, and the show was canceled. While those numbers aren't awful and would be considered a decent performer on some networks, it doesn't seem like something Netflix (who has brought back many a show in recent years) or another streaming service would be interested in revitalizing considering the small viewership. Then again, Netflix has saved plenty of other shows, so who knows really?

What's the past is the past, though, and we should be happy that Rowan Blanchard will once again find herself on television on a hot show like The Goldbergs! The ABC comedy has been on fire since its premiere and that flame hasn't been extinguished as the series has moved forward, and a spinoff is even in the works at the network. The show is currently running Season 4, so expect to see Rowan at William Penn's Academy sooner than later, and be sure to check out the other show's premiering this month with our handy midseason premiere guide.

Actors don't always get a chance to reprise the roles that made them famous, but Disney Channel's Girl Meets World was dedicated to bringing back as many Boy Meets World veterans as possible. Just about all the stops were pulled out for last week's Season 3 finale, which ended up becoming the series finale, and it featured the series' biggest dual-show ensemble. But the finale apparently edited out the big goodbye moment for co-star Danny McNulty, better known as Harvey "Harley" Keiner, and the actor was not pleased. McNulty shared a moment from the scene on social media, as seen below.

Though Girl Meets World's tentatively final episode was a couple of minutes longer than the average installment, a lot of moving parts had to be shown in motion in order to deliver proper closure to the diehard fanbase. The episode technically wasn't meant to be the last word when it was crafted, but the wise writers still set things up without any cliffhangers or major plot threads left hanging, on the off-chance that Disney would indeed pull the plug, which it eventually did after months of indecision. So it's within the realm of understanding that Harvey's goodbye scene would have gotten cut for time in an episode full of last moments.

But that doesn't mean Danny McNulty has to be happy about it or anything. With a later Instagram post, he made it clear just how much the show has meant to him.

To be fair, he was in the final episode, but he didn't quite get the sendoff he wanted. In fact, even though other characters got more conventional final scenes, I can't imagine anyone was completely pleased with the way things ended, since many were hoping for a longer run from the classic series when it returned.

Girl Meets World fans who are active on social media know that Danny McNulty has been a big part of the online push for Disney to renew the show for Season 4, a movement which then morphed into a plea for any other network or studio to step in and save the family sitcom. Things haven't been so fortunate on that front, sadly, but McNulty is going to keep fighting the good fight, as evidenced by this less harsh post from earlier today, giving thanks to co-stars and the creative team.

For now, we don't have any new Girl Meets World episodes to look forward to, but there are three seasons still available to relive, which is more than many other shows can brag about. Fans of Girl Meets World were taken aback earlier this month when they officially learned that the Boy Meets World spin-off had received the ax. Calling it quits on the modern day version of the Matthews family after three seasons, the Disney Channel series' conclusion really represents the end of an era. And according to series creator Michael Jacobs, Girl Meets World definitely ended before telling all of the stories that it had to tell. Jacobs explained:

Michael Jacobs' recent comments to TVLine really echo what many of us also feel about the Girl Meets World cancellation. The show was pretty much designed from the ground up, with at least four years of narrative in mind. Disney pulled the plug on the series too soon, meaning that the build up was for nothing. They did the best they could in order to end the series with a relatively satisfying third season finale, but Jacobs stands by his belief that Girl Meets World had at least another year of life in its run.

Of course, I would be remiss for not pointing out the fact that it is not outside the realm of possibility for Girl Meets World to find new life on another network. Michael Jacobs seems to have an earnest desire to try and give the series new life somewhere else on television, so the intended fourth season could still play out if all of the chips fall into the right places. Talks about doing that have already taken place, but nothing has been confirmed.

There's a strong case to be made that Girl Meets World deserved to stay on the air longer than it did. Rider Strong recently opened up on the canceled spin-off and explained that Boy Meets World resonated more with audiences than Girl Meets World because of its willingness to broach dark and serious topics. As Girl Meets World progressed and grew into its voice, it is entirely possible that we could've seen the show learn to embrace that idea even more. Now we may never know; let's just keep our fingers crossed that Michael Jacobs manages to find another outlet willing to put Girl Meets World back on the air in some form or another.

After months of speculation, Girl Meets World was officially canceled last week. Now fans are wondering if there's hope for the show to get a reprieve from another network. Well, the show's creator has an answer for you.

Girl Meets World creator Michael Jacobs spoke to TVLine about the chances for the show to continue its run on another network or streaming service, now that the Disney Channel has cut it loose. Fans can relax, a little bit, with the knowledge that, apparently, the producers of the show are in talks with other outlets about ways for the show to continue. Of course, Jacobs is also quick to note that these talks are still in the very early stages, so fans of Girl Meets World shouldn't get their hopes up too high; there's always a chance that none of these talks will bring a renewal order to fruition.

However, anyone who's been paying attention to TV in the past few years knows that all is not lost for Girl Meets World. Shows that had been off the air for several years, like Arrested Development and Gilmore Girls, have recently gotten new seasons or revivals from outlets that didn't originally air the show. In the case of each of those series, Netflix stepped in and helped the shows get back on the air. One thing that seems to be very important in getting a show back on the air after cancellation is, as Michael Jacobs mentioned, the fans. Arrested Development and Gilmore Girls each had a dedicated fanbase that made their desire to see more from those shows known over the years they were off the air. And, with Girl Meets World fans putting together petitions and hopeful hashtags to try keeping the show alive when things were starting to look iffy for its renewal chances, it looks like the series might have the right kind of interest behind it to encourage another network to give it a shot.

Well, seeing as how the talks to get Girl Meets World on another network are still pretty new, we could have quite a while to wait before we find out if we'll ever get a Season 4 of the show. So, for now, you can take solace in the fact that there are two more episodes left to air, starting this Friday on the Disney Channel. TV shows come and go, but only a few ever receive the opportunity to become as memorable as TGIF regular Boy Meets World. The sitcom became legendary during its run from 1993 to 2000, and it has carved out a special place for itself in the hearts of millions. According to star Rider Strong, that fan connection was secured by the traditionally comedic show's willingness to also get dark and mature -- which is something that the recently canceled Girl Meets World didn't do quite as often. The Boy (and Girl) Meets World actor said this about those differences and creator Michael Jacobs' possible intentions.

Rider Strong recently made an appearance on Kevin Pollack's Chat Show and highlighted the fundamental reason why Boy Meets World (and Girl Meets World to a lesser extent) was able to resonate with fans. The willingness to embrace somber material (while jarring for some members of the audience) simply worked for many of the younger viewers.

By Strong's estimation, creator Michael Jacobs was able to craft compelling comedies that would suddenly make abrupt tonal shifts and take audiences completely off-guard, and these gambles often paid off in this world. However, Disney would not allow that gamble quite as often on Girl Meets World, so the spinoff had far fewer opportunities to take such risks.

Strong went on to point out a very specific episode of Boy Meets World as an example of this phenomenon:

That cult episode (aptly titled "Cult Fiction") has become one of Boy Meets World's more memorable episodes in the years since the show came to an end. That willingness to go to such dark places made Boy Meets World stand out among the young adult-aimed competition, and it has become one of the primary reasons why the show's multi-generational legacy continues to this day.

"Cult Fiction" is just one example, but plenty of other iconic TV sitcoms from the 1990s have become equally beloved for going into dark territory as well. From Saved By The Bell's episode about Jesse Spano's caffeine pill addiction in 1990, to "Papa's Got a Brand New Excuse" on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1994, the decade was defined by younger-skewing comedies showing their mature sides and broaching serious topics. That's something that we don't often see in quite the same way anymore.

Well, after one of the more surprisingly tumultuous "will they?/won't they?" periods in recent TV renewal history, Girl Meets World and its fanbase finally got an answer from Disney Channel execs on the show's future. Unfortunately, the network chose to cancel the family comedy rather than renewing Girl Meets World for Season 4. Unleash the online hounds!

The news of the cancellation came from the Girl Meets World Writers Twitter page, which has been particularly active in keeping viewers in the know on how things were faring on their side of things. This was by far the biggest bummer of a post they've put up yet.

Girl Meets World's cancellation isn't the biggest surprise, but it is rather shocking how long it took for this answer to go public. Fans had been worried for months now that Season 4's chances were slim, what with the giant reunion between the stars of the current show and its predecessor Boy Meets World set up for the season finale. Petitions and hashtags and the like were created in an effort to show Disney that interest is there.

But things seemed doomed when it was announced said season finale was titled "Girl Meets Goodbye," and it got even worse when recurring star Rider Strong, better known as Shawn Hunter, announced on his podcast that the show was done. That claim was disputed by the writers at the time, saying Disney hadn't decided yet, but now that the cancellation is apparently official, it appears all that worry wasn't for naught.

From Disney's side, Girl Meets World hasn't kept very steady ratings, which have dropped from season to season. On the audience's flip side, there are few shows on TV that have schedules quite as erratic and spotty as Girl Meets World, which has aired 18 episodes in the past 30 or so weeks, and rarely did one follow the next in a normal weekly pattern. Granted, the network also replays things a lot, so it's easy to catch reruns, but still.

There are still more episodes left to air from Girl Meets World Season 3, though, so let that be a silver lining to lighten this cancellation news. The final three episodes, which will include Riley celebrating her sixteenth birthday, actually will follow a weekly schedule, and they'll kick off on Friday, January 6. Girl Meets World is really going all out for the end of Season 3, putting together an episode that is set to feature a slew of fan favorites from the original TV series. While the show kicked off to big ratings over at Disney, it hasn't done as well in more recent episodes, and there has been some speculation that the big Season 3 finale might actually be the series finale. While Disney hasn't made an official call either way, some evidence recently came to light indicating that Girl Meets World may continue into Season 4, after all.

Fans of Girl Meets World have been busy bees, pushing to save the series via social media in recent weeks. The hashtag #savegmw has been running around the Internet and it seems like some of the efforts of fans may have paid off. A recent report indicates that the social media campaign has earned more than 20 million impressions. As a response, per BMW Sequel, Disney Channel Canada's site had listed the Season 3 finale as the series finale, but has now retooled to simply make it seem as if the end of the season may not actually be the end of the show.

Of course, it's a little bit premature to be worrying about all of this, yet. The most recent episode of Girl Meets World aired on December 2. The show is currently on hiatus, but a few more episodes are scheduled into the year 2017, so nothing is over or done with, yet. The last one---the big one with all of the major players coming back---is even titled Girl Meets Goodbye, which, okay, does totally lend more credence to the fact that it could really be the end of the series. Still, the Disney Channel has yet to make a final decision on the future of the comedy.

If you're an American, then there's a decent chance that the 2016 election has caused you some stress over the course of the last year. Opinions about all of the candidates have become incredibly polarized, and it can often feel as if there's no real alternative. Now it seems that there is. Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World's Eric Matthews has decided to throw his hat into the ring (even though he forgot his hat) for the 2016 presidential election, and his campaign ad is absolutely perfect. Check it out below.

Now that's a political ad that people can genuinely rally around. The commercial sees Will Friedle once again step into the role of Eric Matthews as the loveably incompetent Senator announces his candidacy to become the President of the United States. Although his ad is certainly light on policy, Matthews makes up for it by giving voters a genuine sense that he simply wants to help the American public. Despite the fact that the promo does very little to actually convince us that Senator Matthews is qualified to run the country, it's still nice to see him try. He even allows a dog to maul his hand simply to try and win our votes; that's commitment to the political process.

Of course, if you haven't kept up with the Boy Meets World universe over the last few years, this ad might feel a bit confusing. Like many other vital elements from the original series, Eric Matthews made a glorious return to the small screen when Girl Meets World debuted back in 2014. Actor Will Friedle reprised the role as a recurring member of the series' ensemble, with the former mayor of St. Upidtown eventually finding himself elected as a New York Senator. Even though the character definitely remains the bumbling buffoon that we all came to know and love during the TGIF run of Boy Meets World, he has arguably proven himself as a decent Senator. Perhaps there's a correlation there.

With less than two weeks to go until the 2016 presidential election process finally comes to an end, this commercial is actually a nice breath of fresh air. Political satire has become fairly mean spirited on both sides of the political aisle over the course of the last year, and it's nice to see a piece of entertainment that can poke fun at the process while maintaining a lighthearted and neutral sensibility. There are probably many Disney characters who could pull that off, but if it has to be Eric Matthews, then he'll get our vote.

Since its premiere, Disney's Girl Meets World has made a regular habit of trying to get a rise out of older Boy Meets World fans with character returns and other fun shit, but tonight's episode probably didn't win over anyone who spent part of the 1990s with posters of Rider Strong all over their walls. For tonight, Shawn Hunter did something that he'd never done on the former TGIF hit: he got married. So many trapper keeper covers are being immolated right now.

That's right, the bearded writer and photographer has tied the knot, and it isn't even with Angela, his first major love. (I realize a lot of weird plot strings would have to be pulled in order for that to happen, considering she's married already.) No, Shawn made his wedding bliss happen with Katy, thwarting so many of her daughter Maya's better wishes, as well as the romantic pledges of millions of tweens and teens in the '90s. I can't say I'm THAT sympathetic, either, since Topanga was one of my biggest TV crushes when I was younger, and Girl Meets World kicks off by showing us that not only did her and Cory's marriage last, but they also had kids. The sting...it still stings.

Anyway, back to Shawn. All things told, it was a lovely ceremony from the ground up, although the pessimist in me watched the entire thing just waiting for disaster to strike. And it wasn't just the usual gang on hand for this special occasion, as "Girl Meets I Do" also brought back the classically class Mr. Feeny to check the vows for grammatical errors and to serve as a stand-in grandfather for Auggie.

For anyone out there hoping that things go badly for Shawn and Katy - shame on you, first of all - the pair only got engaged four episodes ago, and they only started messing around in Season 2 (after Shawn's dead father told him it was cool). They could certainly stay together forever, as can happen with people who have had shorter pre-wedding relationships, but how is this living situation going to happen? I seriously doubt the show is going to make Maya and her mom move out of town, although it wouldn't be the craziest idea for Rider Strong to sign on to the show as a regular cast member instead of a recurring guest star. Or, in what would be the easiest move, we may just have to accept that Shawn travels a lot and that he'll see his wife and stepchild when he's not working. Perhaps we'll find out in the next episode.

Girl Meets World airs Friday nights on Disney Channel at 8:00 p.m. ET. And don't forget that this season's finale is going to be incredible, as it will feature the biggest Boy Meets World reunion ever, with tons of familiar faces returning, including both actresses who played sister Morgan Matthews. When it comes to paying homages to source material, few pieces of fiction out there can claim to be as prolific as Disney Channel's Girl Meets World, which not only has two of the original TGIF comedy's stars back in the parental roles, but has also been fast and loose with other character cameos in the nearly three years it has been on the air. If only I had Danielle Fishel and William Russ to gab with on a daily basis. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through the other 150 people involved in this image from TVLine.

So let's count them all off, shall we? Beyond Fishel and Ben Savage's Topanga and Cory, we have Cory's old bestie Shawn (Rider Strong), his brother Eric (Will Friedle), and his parents Alan (William Russ) and Amy (Betsy Randle). Then there's Anthony Quinn as former teacher Mr. Turner, Lee Norris as former dork-asaurus Minkus and Danny McNulty as the bully Harley. And, of course, there in the middle of the couch is the legend himself, William Daniels' Mr. Feeny. These are all of the former Boy Meets World actors and actresses who have already made appearances on Girl Meets World in the past, though not all together like this.

Making their debuts on the Disney comedy are Lily Nicksay and Lindsay Ridgeway, who both played the younger Matthews sister Morgan. Nicksay (Seasons 1 and 2) and Ridgeway (Seasons 3-7) will somehow both handle the part of Morgan in the finale, and we expect that to be one of the more interesting moments in the episode.

At this point, it's only really known that the huge cast is returning to help Riley make a decision of the utmost importance, although we have no clue what that decision may entail. But fans are probably far more worried about the decision that Disney Channel is going to make about the future of Girl Meets World, which has yet to be renewed for Season 4. The ratings haven't been fantastic, especially in Season 3, so it's unclear if the brand recognition will be enough to keep it going. Some suspect that the cast round-up for the finale is a way of saying goodbye to fans.

But it doesn't sound like fans are ready to part with it. Check out this crowd chant from the taping of said finale.

Cancellation or renewal, Girl Meets World still has the rest of Season 3 to get through, which is an eternity when you're talking about the high school years. It airs on the Disney Channel on Friday nights.

Girl Meets World has been a delightful little series worth watching for kids today, as well as any adults who fell in love with the original Boy Meets World series. The plots have been new and revolved around the lives of young Riley Matthews and her BFF Maya Heart, but stars from Boy Meets World have dropped in from time to time to reunite with Corey and Topanga. The future of Girl Meets World is currently uncertain. Luckily, the Season 3 finale promises to be one of the biggest episodes yet, thanks to all the familiar Boy Meets World faces that will show up. Brace yourself for a blast from the past and take a look at the list of who will appear in the last episode of Season 3:

The Girl Meets World writers certainly know how to drum up interest for an episode. The tweet announcing the characters that will drop by the finale has already gotten more than 1,200 retweets and nearly 5,000 likes after less than a day online. For a Disney Channel series that was rumored to maybe be facing cancellation, those are some encouraging social media numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if the finale takes the series to a season high thanks to folks who are curious enough about the Boy Meets World crowd to give Girl Meets World a try.

Most of the characters slated for the end of Season 3 have actually appeared on Girl Meets World during the first three seasons. Rider Strong reprised the role of Shawn for six episodes, William Daniels stopped by for some sage advice as Feeny in four episodes, and Will Friedle was back as Eric for three episodes.

More minor characters have had roles, as well. Lee Norris found himself back around Corey and Topanga for four episodes, Danny McNulty played reformed bully Harley in five episodes, and Anthony Tyler Quinn had a few things to say as Turner in two episodes. William Russ and Betsy Randle only appeared in one episode as Alan and Amy Matthews, so their returns for the Season 3 finale should be especially great.

The one character set to appear in the Season 3 finale who hasn't joined Girl Meets World to date is Morgan Matthews. Corey and Eric's little sister was played by two young actresses over the seven seasons of Boy Meets World; it should be fun to see how the episode manages to incorporate them both. Assuming that recurring Girl Meets World actor Uriah Shelton will be featured, the finale will be the first time since Boy Meets World that the entire Matthews family will be together on screen. My heartstrings are being tugged at the mere thought.

There are still a few episodes left in Season 3, so it's hard to guess what decision will require so many familiar faces. One of the biggest recent Girl Meets World plots has been the love triangle between Riley, Lucas, and Maya. I can't help but hope that the triangle will be completely resolved before the crew gets together. Such an epic reunion deserves to be about more than the romantic melodrama, especially if the Season 3 finale turns out to be the series finale. Besides, the show is at its most charming when Riley and Maya are a united front. The girls and the previous generation all together in one episode to make a major decision could be great.

As a TV sequel taking place a generation after the original series, Girl Meets World has a keen advantage over most shows, in that the Disney comedy gets to use elements from Boy Meets World’s seven seasons to tell its stories if it’s so desired. And Girl Meets World has not been afraid or ashamed to use the past in informing new stories, and Season 3 is apparently going to bring up one of the most tumultuous times in Boy Meets World history: when Cory cheated on Topanga. 

We didn’t find this news out via a note that accidentally fell out of someone’s bag, although that would have been the most amazing thing that has ever happened. Instead, star Rider Strong (who plays Shawn Hunter) dropped a teaser-y announcement that he and his brother Shiloh are directing some Season 3 episodes of Girl Meets World featuring a very familiar location. Here’s the tweet.

Fans will recall that in Season 5, the gang had romance on the brain as they went on a senior trip to the mountains and the Mountain Sun Lodge. Unfortunately, said romance also managed to happen between Cory and lodge employee Lauren, played by the always great Linda Cardellini just a year before she hit cult status on Freaks and Geeks. It involved Cory lying to Topanga about several things, and eventually led to their break-up, making it arguably the biggest blight in their relationship. As such, it’ll be very interesting to see why the Lodge is being reintroduced to new audiences.

If this goes like normal sitcoms go, Cory will make a reservation at the Lodge without remembering that it’s the place where he and Lauren kissed, which would then make Topanga angry and refuse to speak to him or something. That’s a plausible scenario, as Girl Meets World isn’t built on deeply layered drama. But the episode probably wouldn’t take place there if they argue about it beforehand.

So perhaps the setting will be used as a cautionary tale, with Cory and Topanga teaching Riley about being faithful in a relationship, or to always suspect others of lying even when they say that nothing happened between them and another person. Or maybe Riley and her friends take a school trip to the Lodge, where they find Lauren is still working, and she shares the story about her lost love, not realizing that it’s Cory’s daughter she’s telling it to. Let’s get a Cardellini cameo, people!

With new and returning cast members, Girl Meets World will bring Season 3 to Disney Channel on Friday, June 3. 

The Boy Meets World spinoff Girl Meets World was a big deal when it was first coming together over at Disney. While a lot of fans of the original ABC sitcom haven’t stuck around for the Disney version, the show has done well enough that Disney has signed on for a third season of the comedy. Now, the Girl Meets World team has put together a brand new intro that pays homage to Boy Meets World. You can check out the adorable video, below.

So, we feel we have to start off by saying the Girl Meets World intro is far less catchy than the original for Boy Meets World. (I can't imagine Boy Meets World letting a cast member sing the theme song, as Sabrina Carpenter does here.) It’s really uptempo and positive in the same way though, and is more contemporary, so I see why they didn’t want to knock off the original with the them song. Regardless, the rest of the Season 3 intro is a straight-up homage to the Boy Meets World intro, culminating in the cast crossing the logo for the series at the end of the intro.

It's almost difficult to tell where one intro ends and the other one begins. As a whole, the Season 3 credits are a pretty perfect nod to the original series. For comparison, here’s one of the amalgamations of the Boy Meets World intro, which also features dancing on the streets and some of the cast throwing ice water on their fellow cast members.

While the Disney Channel original series is not straight-up exactly like the original series, during Season 3 Riley and Maya will be switching from middle school and heading to high school, much like Topanga and Corey did in the nineties. In addition, other TGIF star Reginald VelJohnson is expected to appear in Season 3. The new episodes of the Disney Channel series are expected to hit the schedule this coming June.

Nothing like a TV spinoff to really remind you of your childhood, amiright? Luckily, there are a ton of reboots and revivals in the works right now. Girl Meets World has been a pretty popular series for the Disney Channel. It helps that the series is a spinoff of the well-known show Boy Meets World, and features some of the characters from the original series. The show is also fond of signing on some famous nineties stars for guest stints, and this week we learned that former TGIF star Reginald VelJohnson is going to appear on the Disney Channel show. That’s right, Carl Winslow will soon be in the house.

The former Family Matters star is set to join Girl Meets World as a cop, which is interesting, considering Reginald VelJohnson’s Family Matters character was also a police officer. For nine seasons, VelJohnson played Winslow, a police officer who was often pestered by his famous neighbor Steve Urkel. E! reports that he’s not reprising his character, but it’s still nice to see the man playing a cop.

Boy Meets World and Family Matters ran in the schedule together for several seasons during the nineties. In the time since, Reginald VelJohnson has taken on a slew of other roles, including TV stints on Mike & Molly and The Neighbors. More notably, he also had a pretty solid role on the CW’s Hart of Dixie, playing the likable busybody Dash Dewitt, who ran the town blog in Bluebell. That was a pretty different role for the actor, who has also played a cop in Die Hard, Ghostbusters and even Chuck.

So far, Girl Meets World has featured a goodly amount of guest stars from the TGIF family, but most of them have been former stars from Boy Meets World. Rider Strong, Matthew Lawrence, William Daniels, Trina McGee, Anthony Tyler Quinn and others have all shown up. Starting in Season 2, Will Friedle also popped up. Other famous names have also popped in, including Jane Lynch, M.C. Gainey, Cloris Leachman and others have also taken guest stints. In terms of other TGIF names, Jackee Harry, who was in the series Sister, Sister--which briefly aired in the TGIF linup on ABC in the nineties--has also appeared on Girl Meets World.

Girl Meets World isn’t currently airing new episodes, but the show has already been renewed for a third season on the Disney Channel and will feature the young leads making the big transition from middle school to high school, just like the cast of the original series did many years ago. The show is expected to be back later in 2016, but we’ll let you know as soon as the show gets a date. In the meantime, you can see what else the networks and cable stations have coming up with our summer TV premiere schedule.

While younger, age-appropriate viewers of Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World can appreciate the show for the relationship and exploits of Riley and Maya, older viewers can get down with the many callbacks to the flagship series Boy Meets World. Many lead characters from the latter show have returned, but there’s one person we haven’t seen yet: Jack Hunter. Scratch that, because here he is!

He’s back, everybody! For at least one episode, Matthew Lawrence is reprising his role as Shawn’s half-brother Jack, who was also Eric’s roommate starting in Season 5 of Boy Meets World. He’ll be seen in the upcoming episode “Girl Meets Semi-Formal” alongside Will Friedle’s Eric, who’s making his third appearance this season. To be expected, Jack and Eric show up together in the episode, part of which takes place at a dance at Riley and Maya’s school.

The first clip from the episode shows Eric and Jack arriving at the dance, which Corey appears to be chaperoning. Eric says that he brought Jack there to take him back to a time when life was a little less complicated, which is then interrupted by Riley talking about a seemingly complex situation involving a notebook, a guy and her feelings. To me, seeing two adult men waltzing into a middle school dance without any real reason to be there is a tad more complicated than, say, them hitting a bar or a bowling alley or some other place that they may have frequented in their youth. Even standing outside their old apartment building. But a young adult dance it is. I wonder what Jack from this era would have to say about that.

Those guys aren’t the only guest stars in this weekend’s episode. Girl Meets World viewers will also get to see the Australian pop band Sheppard performing their song “Geronimo” at the dance. I didn’t know who these people were before reading that, so I’m not sure how ecstatic you guys are about it.

Matthew Lawrence hasn’t really been seen too many places over the last few years. His most recent TV roles were on Comedy Central’s Workaholics and on ABC Family’s Melissa and Joey, which stars his older brother Joey Lawrence. It’s entirely possible we’ll see him show up on Girl Meets World in the future.

Jack is the latest in a long line of Boy Meets World characters to appear on this generation-skipping spinoff. We’ve gotten to see the Matthews parents Alan and Amy, Corey’s younger brother Joshua, Corey’s best friend Shawn Hunter, the old teacher/principal Mr. Feeny, the high school bully Harley Keiner, the nerdy Stuart Minkus, Shawn’s old girlfriend Angela, and the English teacher Jonathan Turner. We even got to see Shawn’s dad Chet popping up as a spirit guide.

Good news, Boy Meets World fans! Season 2 of Girl Meets World will bring back many of the characters from the former TGIF show. Fans can expect to see the return of Mr. Feeny, Eric, and Shawn when the new season kicks off with a week of all new episodes starting on Monday, May 11.

After a confusing appearance at the end of the pilot of Girl Meets World where everyone seemed to think that he was a ghost, Mr. Feeny will be coming back to the Disney show in the season 2 premiere “Girl Meets Gravity.” This time, however, there will be no mistaking that everyone’s favorite teacher-turned-principal-turned-professor is in fact alive. But that’s not all, Boy Meets World fans. According to TVLine, Mr. Feeny will also return for the episode “Pluto” a little later in the week with another memorable character, Shawn.

Cory’s best friend is back! In the episode “Pluto,” which airs on Thursday, May 14, Shawn will reunite with his best friend and members of the original show for what is likely to be one for the history books. The plot of the episode will feature all of the original cast members, with the exception of Cory’s brother Eric, as they visit their old stomping ground and dig up an old time capsule in Philadelphia. No doubt Mr. Feeny will not disappoint in dispensing many wise words to his former pupils, particularly Shawn. Shawn’s episode will likely remind Boys fans and introduce Girls fans to the unbreakable bond that Cory and Shawn have always shared.

What Boy Meets World reunion of sorts would be complete without Cory’s hilarious big brother Eric? Exactly! That’s why on Friday, May 15, fans' wishes will come true when Eric reunites with his younger brother and his wife Topanga on Girl Meets World. In the episode “Girl Meets Mr. Squirrels,” Eric serves as a mediator, helping to break up a dispute between best friends Riley and Maya. Sound familiar? I’m sure Boy Meets World fans can recall a time or two when a comical, but sometimes serious Eric would intervene to help bring Shawn and Cory back together after a fight. As they say, history often repeats itself.

With appearances from fan favorites Mr. Feeny, Shawn and Eric in season 2, Girl Meets World is sure to come full circle as a sequel to former Disney Channel hit Boy Meets World. Cory’s parents, former/current Cory and Topanga rival Stuart Minkus, Cory’s former bully-now-turned-friend Harley Keiner, and Cory’s younger brother Joshua have all already made appearances on the spin-off show. Season 2 of Girl Meets World premieres Monday, May 11 on the Disney Channel.

By serving itself up as a sequel series instead of a reboot, Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World is allowed to be a haven for Boy Meets World reunions, and it’s a tactic they’ve used often enough. The latest two actors to join the show in guest roles are Blake Clark, who played Shawn’s dad Chet, and Trina McGee, who played Shawn’s girlfriend Angela. What is this, Shawn’s World Meets Everyone Else?

Both Clark and McGee will appear on an upcoming Season 2 episode called “Girl Meets Hurricane,” and McGee is also set to appear on an additional ep titled “Girl Meets Demolition.” Are the Matthews going to deal with some kind of a huge New York City weather problem? Unshockingly, Rider “Shawn Hunter” Strong will also appear in at least one of those episodes, according to Variety.

Angela first entered Shawn’s life during Season 5 of Boy Meets World, and soon became his longterm girlfriend, despite his history of…whatever the TGIF lineup’s equivalent of “sleeping around” was. She ended up leaving the show, and Shawn’s life, in Season 7, when she went away to Europe with her father. Their goodbyes to one another definitely didn’t seem like they were final, so her coming back should make for an interesting reunion. At least in a Disney kind of way.

Chet was around since Season 1, although “around” is to be taken as loosely as possible. A lot of Shawn’s personality quirks were based on Chet’s relatively terrible parenting style and his drunken womanizing ways. He died of a heart attack in a Season 6 episode, but he continued showing up in later episodes as part of Shawn’s memories and as a spiritual guide, Dexter Morgan’s dad style. This is presumably how he’ll be used in Girl Meets World.

And if that weren’t enough, the episode will be directed by William Russ, who plays Cory’s father Allen. Both he and Betsy “Amy” Randle have reprised their roles as the Matthews parents in Season 1. As well, Girl Meets World has seen the return of former bully Harley Keiner (Danny McNulty), former nerdling Stuart MInkus (Lee Norris) and teacher/principal/neighbor George Feeny (William Daniels).

McGee’s last TV role was on the former CW series All of Us, and she’ll next be seen in the feature LAPD African Cops. (What?) Clark, who can be seen in recent years’ films as That’s My Boy and Highland Park, will next be seen in Mark David’s drama Texas Heart, and possibly heard reprising the role of Slinky Dog in Toy Story 4.

If you’ve been keeping tabs on Disney’s Girl Meets World at all, you may already be aware that Ryder Strong, aka Shawn Hunter, is set to appear on the show’s upcoming Christmas episode. As if that news wasn’t cool enough, the show recently revealed that Shawn Hunter will play a bigger role in Season 2, and he’s not the only Boy Meets World star headed to the set of Girl Meets World. In fact, Will Friedle and William Daniels are also set to appear, and soon.

This week, Girl Meets world took to social media to make some big announcements. Among these was the announcement of the guest starring gigs. Not only will Friedle’s Eric, Daniels’ Feeny and Shawn Hunter show up in Season 2, but they will also reportedly be an “important part” of the new season.

Girl Meets World’s biggest selling point has always been connecting to Boy Meets World, a former ABC TGIF comedy that ran for seven seasons in the 1990s. Cory and Topanga are part of the main cast, and during Season 1, guest stars, including William Daniels, who played Mr. Feeny in the original series, and Lee Norris, who played popular side character Minkus, have returned. It’s no surprise that Girl Meets World now wants to pull in Will Friedle and Ryder Strong for stints on the show, as well. Just look at the nostalgia tied to Ryder Strong’s upcoming guest stint.

That’s not all, however. Toward the end of the epic tweet session, the writers and producer teased another returning member of the cast.

Could that mean the return of Minkus or some other side character? Could it be Angela who will appear in the series? Or maybe even Rachel or maybe even Sean's brother, Jack Hunter. The possibilities are endless, but I know one thing for certain, I'd be pleased as punch to see Frankie Stechino return to the series. (You hear that, Ethan Suplee?) New episodes of Girl Meets World air on the Disney Channel on Fridays at 8:30 p.m. ET.

As a 31-year-old who grew up right along with Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) in ABC’s Boy Meets World, I am damned aware that the Disney spinoff/sequel Girl Meets World is definitely not for me to dig into with both claws, feasting upon the philosophical challenges of a girl growing up with a hammy moron for a father. This is a series created not even for general 12-to-whatever-year-olds, but specifically for children who understand and appreciate the Disney model of “stereotypical acts performed by attractive people exactly as the script intends them to be performed, while the biggest, fakest audience laughs along.” And you know what? I laughed, too.

Granted, I was mostly laughing at how goofy and ferociously cornball it all was, but some genuine mirth escaped me from time to time, forcing me to think that maybe Girl Meets World rises above some of the other Disney mess, at least from a humor standpoint. (This is the network that has run multiple seasons of Dog With a Blog, after all.) But it seems to be trying to drill lessons into its viewers, and I don’t know that this first episode’s cautionary tale is the one that kids need to be hearing.

Another tale kids don’t need to be hearing? Take a drink every time a character refers to another character’s “world,” and try to walk straight. Seriously, guys. Stop saying "world." The motif ends here.

Anyway, the basic plot behind this episode, if not the entire run of Girl Meets World, is that Cory and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) have a book smart, honorable daughter named Miley Riley, whose best friend Maya is not a wonderful influence, in that she wants to sneak out to the subway by themselves. That’s behavior that’s looked down upon by Cory, but the girls do it repeatedly through the episode, and then Riley is rewarded in the end with her own subway pass, to prove that she is a smart young adult. Even though all we really see her do is aspire not to be a total loser, all while using the subway behind her dad’s back. All right, then, I guess I understand why she was commended.

You know there’s a boy involved, right? That boy is Austin native Lucas (Peyton Meyer), a new student who Riley falls head over heels for, quite literally, onto his lap. He also happens to sit right behind Riley in the class taught by Cory, because Cory is now a teacher, because OF COURSE Cory is a teacher now. And he’d prefer to teach his students absolutely nothing, so long as he makes it awkward between Riley and Lucas. Admittedly, this is where Savage’s completely unrealistic acting skills work best.

And if we’re talking overacting, then we’re talking about Farkle Minkus (Corey Fogelmanis), by far the most enjoyable saving grace that this series has to offer. He is the nerdy, hyper-stylized classmate that happens to be in love with both Riley and Maya. It’s pretty amazing how this actor is given the same “wrote it in my sleep” jokes as everyone else, but he nails every moment with an enjoyable offbeat approach. (He speaks in the third-person, and it's not even that annoying.)

Another character I wouldn’t mind getting some more time is Riley’s little brother Auggie (August Maturo), who has a nice moment completely undermining Riley’s faux-existential self-conversation with questions like, “Why is cake always so delicious?” It sounds dumb, and it is, but it’s the nod-and-smile kind of dumb.

Let’s be honest here. I definitely won’t be watching any more Girl Meets World episodes this season, and it’s only partly due to the insanely creepy last-second appearance by Mr. Feeny (William Daniels), which is apparently the only time he shows up this season. I had far more fun wondering why all the main characters happen to be at the same subway stop in the middle of New York City rather than what Riley is feeling about her new-found independence from bad influences. I don’t care where Riley ends up. She held up a subway train for like, three minutes.

But if Farkle starts kicking it outside of liquor stores, then I’m game. And parents beware, Sabrina Carpenter also happens to sing the show’s theme song, which is reprised every time it comes back from a commercial break. Go-o-o!

Tonight, June 27, the Disney Channel debuts the family comedy series Girl Meets World, the generation-traversing sequel to the hit 1990s ABC sitcom Boy Meets World. While we’re sure Girl Meets World will revolve around the same kind of cheesy sanitized jokes and emotions of the original, there’s no way this update will be able to come close to touching its predecessor in terms of guest stars and cameos.

Everybody from Adam Scott to Linda Cardellini to Blue Blood’s Will Estes put some time in on Boy Meets World. And while it’s always fun to see a familiar face playing a silly one-off character, it’s just as fun to go back and remember the cameos in which the celebrities are playing themselves. Here’s a quick run through of the nine silliest celebs that graced the lives of Cory Matthews & Co. Let's also remember that some of these were undoubtedly Sweeps Week choices.

Big Van Vader and Mankind

Any time a wrestling ring is on the set for a primetime sitcom, you can only hope a pro wrestler or two is going to show up. Boy Meets World went to the squared circle several times, most often with Leon “Big Van Vader” White, the masked behemoth who appeared multiple times as Frankie Stechino’s dad, who always ended up fighting children for some reason. Jake “The Snake” Roberts was also in one of those Vader episodes, along with longtime referee Earl Hebner. But that's not all.

Mick Foley also showed up in one episode as his alter ego Mankind to give Eric some advice, which was soon followed by Socko coming out for the mandible claw. It could have been called Boy Meets World Wrestling Federation.

The Monkees and Dave Madden

Nobody was hipper in 1995 than the Monkees and Partridge Family star Dave Madden, right? That’s probably an exaggeration, but that’s also what made Boy Meets World appear timeless, despite being unmistakably created in the 1990s. The Monkees, minus Mike Nesmith, appeared on the show as a completely different act, due to some behind-the-scenes issues. It’s an insanely goofy episode now, as it involved Corey and Shawn trying to put on a rave. I’m guessing Dave Madden was bringing the molly.

Chris Hardwick

He’s the head and face of Nerdist Industries now, but podcaster/talk show host Chris Hardwick first broke out as Jenny McCarthy’s stubbled hosting mate on MTV”s dating game show Singled Out. In a Season 4 episode, Eric Matthews landed on the show, and found out a little something about love, as well as himself. Or something. Nobody found out anything about Hardwick.

Nancy Kerrigan

Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan was in the middle of a controversial attack in 1994, and just a year later appeared in Boy Meets World, one of the least controversial TV shows in history. For a Season 2 episode, Eric wanted to learn how to skate in order to nail a girl, and dreamed about Kerrigan teaching him some skills, and he was pretty awesome at it, while he was asleep. Why can’t shows like True Detective have surreal dreams like this?

For a sci-fi-themed Season 3 episode, Cory complains about life being hard in the present, and so of course he ends up getting zapped back into the 1950s while plugging in a microwave. Everything and everyone is the same, only with an oldies approach. One difference is Tom Bosley’s presence, and another is Pat Morita, who plays the “Wise Man,” a role that old Asian men often get, or at least used to. It’s not really what I think Pat Morita was like in real life, but it was definitely the “Pat Morita role” that he had to deal with after the original Karate Kid made him a sage life guru.

Jennifer Love Hewitt

In another gimmick episode from Season 5, the kids at John Adams High are dealing with a murder mystery. Jennifer Love Hewitt, still riding that sweet, sweet I Know What You Did Last Summer fame, stars as Jennifer Love Fefferman, a red herring suspect who eventually gets crushed to death by two piles of books. It’s all a dream, mind you, so she didn’t really die, but it's still one of the cooler on-screen deaths in TGIF history.

Yasmine Bleeth

Not the only Baywatch star to draw the male gaze on Boy Meets World – Nicole Eggert also appeared in an episode –– Yasmine Bleeth plays herself as a girl who just happens to date Griff (Adam Scott) because of how cool he is. Not to mention she’s at a private fight between two high school students. Nothing like that happened at my school.

Last November, we learned that a sequel project for Boy Meets World was in development for Disney Channel. As "in development" doesn't mean an automatic greenlight to series, we've hung on every major bit of news for the project in the hopes that the pilot would eventually go to series. Signs pointed toward good news, but we had to wait for it. This week, that good news has arrived Girl Meets World has officially been ordered to series at Disney Channel.

Deadline shared the good news, stating that Girl Meets World has been on the fast track to the Disney Channel schedule since last fall. The new series is being executive produced by Boy Meets World co-creator Michael Jacobs, and as was previously announced, Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will reprise their roles as Cory and Topanga Matthews, two childhood sweethearts who have since grown up, gotten married and started a family of their own. The new series will center on their daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her fellow 7th-grader best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter). The two are navigating through the tricky world of middle school, much in the way Cory and his best friend Shawn did when they were young.

Of course, as gleeful as those of us who are nostalgic for the days of Cory and Topanga might be, this is probably better news for the kids than it is for us, as everything we've heard about the multi-camera comedy, not to mention the network it's airing on, indicates that the target audience for this show will be the same - or a similar - audience held by The Suite Life, Austin & Ally and other shows that air on the Disney Channel. But those kids who tune in do have parents, and some of them may have even been 90s kids, who recall Boy Meets World fondly, which is where Disney Channel may be getting it really right. Because if Mom (or Dad) can't stand what's airing on their channel, there's a good chance their kids won't be watching it. But if Mom loves it, well, maybe the Disney Channel will be on instead of Nick or Netflix or whatever other kid-friendly alternatives there are out there. A little nostalgia goes a long way.

And who knows? if things work out well for Girl Meets World, maybe this series is the first of such sequels. What are Candace Cameron (Full House), Tatyana Ali (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) and/or any of the Home Improvement kids doing these days?

Girl Meets World is expected to debut on The Disney Channel next year (2014). In the meantime, here's a look back at one of Cory and Topanga's cuter moments.

Veteran actress Jackee Harry has been part of plenty of sitcoms over the years. Anyone who grew up in the nineties or had kids who grew up in the nineties may remember her best from the sitcom, Sister, Sister, where she played a seamstress and mother. Now, Harry will be lending her acting talents to the Girl Meets World pilot, another kid-friendly project that is headed to the Disney Channel.

If you’ve been keeping tabs on Girl Meets World, you should already know it is the sequel to Boy Meets World, one of the more successful programs airing during ABC’s TGIF block and a show that was later featured on the Disney Channel in reruns. According to THR, there’s currently no word on exactly what sort of character Harry will be playing, but we’ll keep you updated as new details emerge, and until then, feel free to make your own guesstimates.

Harry joins a long list of cast members already involved with Girl Meets World. Cory and Topanga (Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel) will reprise their roles from the original series, and Rowan Blanchard has signed on to play the couple’s daughter, Riley, while Teo Halm will play the couple’s son, Elliot. Overall, casting seems to be coming together pretty nicely, and while I won’t say this one is a shoe-in at the network, with evidence that Mr. Feeny will also be reprising his former role, I will say things are looking pretty good for Girl Meets World.

Mr. Feeny has arrived! The photo above strikes a nostalgic chord for those of us who fondly remember Boy Meets World, as it shows the 90s series' co-stars William Daniels and Maitland Ward on the set of the sequel pilot Girl Meets World. The picture comes courtesy of Ward, who played Rachel McGuire in the later years of the series. And it's one of a few photos that have surfaced since the Disney Channel pilot went into production.

EW shared the photo above, along with this one, which was posted via Instagram by Ben Savage and shows his "first class."

It seems particularly fitting that these photos should be posted together, as Mr. Feeny was Cory's teacher and life mentor, and now it sounds as though Cory has followed in his mentor's footsteps in becoming a teacher who may end up guiding other boys (and girls) who are in the process of meeting world.

Speaking of stars of the original series, Blanchard Instagrammed this photo, which includes Rider Strong (Shawn) and Will Friedle (Eric), who came to visit them on the set.

In Boy Meets World, Cory had his older brother Eric. The lead character of Disney Channel's spin-off of the popular 90's comedy will also have an older brother, and the role has been cast. Newcomer Teo Halm has been tapped to play the part of Elliot, the son to Cory and Topanga Matthews.

Disney Channel plans to continue the story of Cory and Topanga with a spin-off (potential) series from Boy Meets World creator and executive producer Michael Jacobs, that will focus on their daughter Riley, who is already set to be played by Rowan Blanchard. Today, TVLine reports that Riley's big brother Elliott will be played by Teo Halm. Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are on board to reprise their roles as Cory and Topanga, the childhood sweethearts who are now happily married with children a decade later.

Should this pilot go to series - and the odds seem ever in this project's favor, given all the buzz surrounding it - this would be the first major role Halm is set to play. The actor is also listed among the credits of James Franco's planned biopic Bukowski. But if Girl Meets World ends up on the 2013-2014 schedule by The Disney Channel, we may see him on the small screen before Franco's film makes its way onto to the big one.

Will Elliott be the kind of older brother who looks out for his little sister? Or will he be the one to give her a hard time? Maybe he'll be a little bit of both, with the "nobody messes with my kid sis but me" kind of attitude. Hopefully we'll get to find out, should things work out for this highly anticipated project.

The word "adorable" would be a fair adjective to describe Boy Meets World's Cory and Topanga in their earlier years on the 90s sitcom, and unsurprisingly, the same would most certainly apply to the 11-year-old girl who has been cast to play the part of their daughter and the star of Disney Channel's planned Boy Meets World sequel/spin-off pilot Girl Meets World.

As we reported back in November, the plan for the spin-off would be a show that follows Cory and Topanga's daughter Riley Matthews. Since then, we've been left to wonder which lucky (and likely talented) little girl would nab the starring role. EW posted the news today, along with the photo below, which shows us the Girl Meets World star Rowan Blanchard (The Backup Plan, Spy Kids: All The Time in the World 4D):

Not only is she adorable, but she's also beautiful, and I think there's a sort of wise-beyond-her-years look about her that reminds me of her character's mother, Topanga. Though the dark hair - while not curly - is more Cory. Girl Meets World producers Michael Jacobs describes Blanchard as "real and accessible" and he's hopeful that she's "about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well." Admittedly, I'm already grown up, but as a fan of the original series, I'm hopeful this spin-off works out and curious to see how it turns out.

As EW points out, the project is still at the pilot stage, but things are looking good for the project. Hopefully all will go well on the pilot and the series will find a spot on Disney's 2013-2014 schedule.

With the confirmed involvement of Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel for the Boy Meets World sequel pilot Disney Channel has in the works, fans have gone one to speculate over whether or not some of the other cast members will return for Girl Meets World. Rider Strong has released a statement discussing the series and potential involvement in the sequel at Disney Channel.

From what's been previously said about the Boy Meets World sequel project in development at Disney Channel, the story would focus on Cory and Topanga's pre-teen daughter. From what Rider Strong says, it doesn't sound like his character Shawn Hunter fits into that story. The actor shared a statement, which EW posted, discussing what the original series meant to him and went on to say that he has no official involvement in Girl Meets World, though he doesn't rule out the possibility of a guest spot.

Fans of the show will appreciate his full statement, as he speaks fondly about the show and what it's meant to him in his life.

I love this. (Not the part about Shawn not being around, that's disappointing). There's no bitterness over being excluded, nor even a hint of a tone that suggests he wants nothing to do with the potential sequel. He's simply expressing his love for the original show, and saying that Shawn's not going to be a major part of the sequel, which he sounds optimistic about. Hopefully we'll see Strong pop in for a visit once in a while, should the show go to series.

Meanwhile, EW says they haven't gotten a comment either way from Will Friedle, who played Cory's brother Eric, or William Daniels, who played Mr. Feeny. No comment may be good news though, as it's entirely possible they're not at liberty to speak on it because they're in negotiations. But that's just speculation. Perhaps there's a place in the show for either or both of them.

When we learned that Disney Channel was toying with the idea of developing a sequel series to the beloved 90s sitcom Boy Meets World, we were left to wonder if Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel would return to their characters Cory and Topanga. Earlier this month, we learned that a Boy Meets World sequel, titled Girl Meets World, was in the early stages of development at Disney Channel. The project would focus on the preteen daughter of Cory and Topanga, two of the lead characters of the original series, who fell for one another as kids, dated and later married during the course of the comedy's run. With talk of a sequel series, many fans of the original show wondered if we might see actors Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel reunited as Cory and Topanga again. The Huffington Post shared word that Disney Channel says both actors would reprise their roles in the pilot, which is still in "very early stages of development." Also returning to work on the pilot is Boy Meets World creator Michael Jacobs.

The site goes on to say that a nationwide casting search is underway to find 13-year-old Riley Matthews, Cory and Topanga's daughter.They also mention that Cory's profession is a history teacher, which would have him following in the footsteps of Mr. Feeny, the teacher and neighbor to Cory when he was growing up.

While it sounds like things are still just getting going for this project, word that Savage and Fishel are on board to star bodes well for the pilot. Now we'll have to wait and see which lucky girl signs on to play their daughter.
