If you ever wanted to own a piece of Gwyneth Paltrow’s wardrobe (or stationery, glasses, etc.), you may be in luck. The actress is auctioning off more than 300 items, and the best part is that interested parties won’t have to fork over several mortgage payments to get them. So why is the Oscar winner’s clothing going for hundreds of dollars when past auctions have raked in seven figures for items like Marilyn Monroe’s so-called “Naked Dress”? There’s a pretty morbid reason.

Julien’s, the famous Los Angeles auction house, is currently hosting an auction that features hundreds of pieces that Gwyneth Paltrow is ready to part ways with — from designer dresses (at least the ones she didn’t save for daughter Apple) to coffee tables, lamps, books, jewelry and more. While people are willing to spend thousands of dollars on many of the items, Julien’s co-founder Martin Nolan explained why nothing’s going to garner the same $4.8 million that Marilyn Monroe’s famous Jean Louis gown did in 2016. Frankly, he told The Guardian:

Sadly it’s because Marilyn Monroe has long since passed away, so dresses worn by the icon are at a premium — especially pieces like the Naked Dress, which she wore to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy back in 1962, just months before her death at age 36.

It was Ripley’s Believe It or Not! that purchased the gown 10 years ago at a Julien's auction, and then made the controversial decision to loan it to Kim Kardashian for the Met Gala in 2022. The SKIMS boss got backlash for having to drop a lot of weight quickly to fit into the dress, and many believe she damaged the piece.

Gwyneth Paltrow, meanwhile, hopefully has many years ahead of her to collect gorgeous dresses like the white Giorgio Armani Privé gown that she had to be sewn into for this year’s Oscars ceremony. Maybe someday far into the future, someone will be shelling out six or seven figures for that one.

For now, there are some event dresses that are slightly more budget friendly. Her Julien’s auction includes the Atelier Versace gown that she wore to the 2010 CMAs, which is going for $7,680 as of this writing and a gray Gianni Versace two-piece that she wore to the White House in 1999, available currently for a bid of $600.

You can also find more casual pieces, like a Dolce & Gabbana T-shirt reading “Material Girl” for $800, and who could pass up an autographed birth announcement of “one of the original nepo babies”? The document features the actress’ name, “Gwyneth Kate,” her date of birth and the name of her parents — Bruce Paltrow and Blythe Danner — along with Gwyneth’s signature. It’s racked up a handful of bids already, currently valued at $150.

The Shakespeare in Love star may not be making as much as some actresses’ items, like Marilyn Monroe and Olivia Newton-John, but given that’s because Gwyneth Paltrow is still alive, I’m sure fans are just fine with that.

Gwyneth Paltrow is the daughter of the actress Blythe Danner and producer/director Bruce Paltrow. Because many would consider her a nepo baby, she thinks it’s easy to make fun and say she doesn’t deserve her success, but as she pointed out as well, her parents were “self made” and “killed themselves to get where they got.” Once, she actually said having a famous mom made her career more difficult because she felt like she had to work “twice as hard and be twice as good.”

Meanwhile, former Suits actress and current Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has spent about a year now in a very slow launch of her own lifestyle brand (now called As Ever), and recently debuted a new show on the 2025 TV schedule you can watch with your Netflix subscription, With Love, Meghan. She and Prince Harry just so happen to also live in Montecito, California, just like Paltrow and her husband, but the Iron Man actress recently told Vanity Fair:

Alright, before we all get too taken with the idea of these two stylish ladies sharing some pie as they exchange jam recipes and exercise tips, let’s take a step back. If you’re old enough, you’ll remember when Elizabeth Taylor decided to get into the fragrance business and how big of a deal it was back in the late ‘80s, because such a thing was relatively rare.

Now, that is hardly the case, as famous folks like Selena Gomez (with Rare Beauty making her a billionaire), Naomi Watts, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jennifer Lopez, and Kourtney Kardashian Barker (whose Poosh brand did a collab with Goop) all having their own beauty and/or lifestyle brands. This Reminds Me Of The Time The Goop Founder Sent The Reality Star A Vagina Candle 

A few years ago, when Gwyneth Paltrow’s vagina candle was making waves on the internet, she gifted one to Kim Kardashian following her split from Kanye West. She posted a photo of her Goop package on her IG story, showing that she had been sent the famous vagina candle – which had a label on it that said “this smells like Kim’s orgasm,” a vibrator, The Sex Gel and more items.

The reality star wrote at the time that she’s “never been more excited” for a candle, and she thanked Paltrow, with an “I love you.”

The Iron Man actress has been open about the vagina candle and why she created it, calling it a “really strong feminist statement.” She also explained that it doesn't smell like a vagina, it has the scent of “roses and all kinds of things.” So, I'm not surprised that Kardashian was excited to receive it.

This time last year Brad Pitt joined a wealth of celebrities that have gotten into the skincare business with the launch of his genderless line, Le Domaine. The luxury skincare brand was made with his winery partners, the Perrin family. Following Pitt citing Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop success as an influence on Le Domaine’s development, his Se7en co-star and ex-fiancé has given her stamp of approval for the line. 

Paltrow remains friends with Brad Pitt after she broke off an engagement with the actor and her partner of three years back in 1997. The Goop founder shared with the New York Times that her ex sent her his Le Domaine skincare products, and she was impressed with the line. In her words: 

Le Domaine upcycles leftover grapes from the famed French winery Brad Pitt has had a stake in since 2008 -- it's also the winery that has been the subject of a legal battle between him and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie. 

The formula of the Le Domaine products reportedly maximizes the antioxidant effects of three different grapes in a way that targets aging in the skin. The line is vegan, and it contains only natural ingredients. However, it does cost a premium with its flagship Serum for example costing $275 for a 1 fl oz pump bottle. Perhaps that’s the cost if one wants to look as young as Pitt does at 59? 

When Brad Pitt launched the line last fall, he cited Gwyneth Paltrow as an inspiration, sharing that she was “probably the first one who got me to even wash my face twice a day… maybe” to British Vogue. At the time, Pitt also shared that he loves what his ex-fiancé has done with Goop before calling her a “really dear friend.”  

The Se7en leads have not been shy in recent years about their lasting love for each other as friends as Paltrow remains devoted to her husband of five years, Brad Falchuk. Pitt on the other hand is reportedly with Swiss jewelry professional Ines de Ramon, whom he’s been seeing since late 2022.

Gwyneth Paltrow and her company Goop have released some interesting products over the years. However, I don’t think anything was more memorable than the infamous vagina candle. Now, the actress-turned-entrepreneur has opened up about why they made the product, and she even revealed what it smells like!

Paltrow and Goop released a candle called “This Smells Like My Vagina” a few years ago, and in early 2022, she released another candle called “Hands Off My Vagina,” which raised money for the ACLU Foundation’s Reproductive Freedom Project. While the company has used the candle to promote great causes, it was also the subject of many jokes and memes, making it infamous. These days, you can’t buy the candle. However, Paltrow did take to Instagram to explain why the vagina candle was created, saying: 

Honestly, I love the message the vagina candle had. I did feel like they were trying to empower women, and they did so in a unique way that only Goop could do. While the message was empowering there’s also no questioning the odd impact it had on the zeitgeist, people didn’t quite know what to make of the candle or things related to it, like Paltrow’s Super Bowl commercial for it.

Continuing to talk about the candle, Paltrow also explained that it didn’t actually smell like a vagina, it smelled like “roses and all kinds of things.” While speaking about the scent of the popular and infamous product, the Shakespeare in Love actress touched on the negative reception the product received, saying:

Many of Paltrow’s products, including her show on Netflix, The Goop Lab, have been met with negative responses. While there were lots of folks who did like the vagina candle, it was also the butt of a lot of jokes, and it was met with a bit of controversy. 

For example, in 2021, a vagina candle reportedly exploded inside a couple of people's homes. It was reported by one woman that when the product exploded it “emitted huge flames, with bits flying everywhere.” The person’s home was not destroyed, however, the potential of what could have happened was scary. Later, a man sued Paltrow and Goop over the candle reportedly exploding in his home. The company later responded to his claims, via NBC News, calling them “frivolous,” noting that they “stand behind” the products and brands they carry. 

Overall, the vagina candle caused quite a reaction from folks who simply saw it on the internet and actually bought it. While they don’t sell it anymore, Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop made an odd impact on pop culture with this product, and now we finally have an explanation as to why they felt motivated to make the candle in the first place.

In an effort to keep things amicable, the former couple decided to use the phrase, however, the public wasn’t quite sure what to think of it. Now, almost ten years later, the actress-turned-entrepreneur is opening up about how people reacted to the new vocabulary, and why she’s still “proud” of it all these years later.

The public took notice, and they were fascinated by the phrase. However, a lot of criticism also came with it.

As Paltrow mentioned, the couple “took a lot of shit,” for the use of the word. However, she also explained that now there are people who have also taken up using the term to help them develop a more positive mindset around a breakup. 

While talking about what she learned from the divorce, Paltrow said she wanted to turn the situation “into a positive.” Considering the frontman of Coldplay and the Oscar-winning actress have to co-parent their kids, Apple and Moses, together it makes sense that they wanted their legal separation to go smoothly. Over the years, the Goop founder has been candid about her divorce, and based on her most recent comments, she’s made it clear she’s “proud” of the fact their public “conscious uncoupling” has also helped other couples separate in an amicable way. 

These days, Paltrow and Martin co-parent their teenage kids, and they are both in other relationships. Paltrow has been married to TV writer Brad Falchuk since 2018, while Chris Martin has been dating Dakota Johnson since 2017.

Let’s start with the seemingly random comments Terry Sanderson’s lawyer Kristin Van Orman made while questioning Paltrow. The lawyer was talking about the incident that happened in 2016, and she made a lot of comments that were seemingly unrelated to the trial, and if she weren’t the plaintiff’s attorney maybe would have sounded like compliments. 

The Washington Post compiled a video of moments when this happened that feature Van Orman telling Paltrow she “probably had the best ski outfit” on the mountain, saying she figured Paltrow would be a good tipper, and asking how tall the Goop owner was. After the Iron Man star answered with 5 ft. 10 in. that line of questioning seemed to be put to rest after the lawyer said she wished she could be that tall. However, this moment came full circle when Van Orman was asking Paltrow about how she yelled when the crash happened, the lawyer said: 

Talk about odd, I couldn’t quite figure out why Van Orman was asking about all these various topics, and awkwardly complimenting Paltrow, but no matter what it was pretty entertaining.

One of the more awkward moments of the trial came when Paltrow was asked to describe the crash. She explained that the collision felt like “sexual assault,” saying Sanderson ran into her from behind. Her exact words after being asked about why she compared the crash to sexual assault were, per TMZ: 

She was then asked to act out what she meant, however, that idea was quickly turned down and did not happen.

Following the announcement of the verdict that Paltrow was not at fault for the ski collision, Sanderson admitted that he regrets going through with the lawsuit. However, it doesn’t mean he and his legal team are willing to leave the case in the past.

In the civil lawsuit, Terry Sanderson alleged that the happily retired actress Gwyneth Paltrow slammed into him while skiing at the Deer Valley ski resort back in 2016. This accident left him with four broken ribs and a permanent traumatic brain injury. He sought damages from the former actress initially asking for $3.1 million only for the judge to dismiss this amount and have it reduced to $300,000. This led to the Iron Man actress counter-suing him a symbolic $1 as well as attorneys’ fees. After both parties and witnesses, including the actress's kids, gave statements, the jury declared that Paltrow was not at fault. This means Sanderson will have to have to pay Paltrow’s legal fees plus a dollar. After receiving his “disappointing” verdict, the plaintiff spoke to Extra TV about if this lawsuit was really worth it.

Sanderson also spoke more about “the pain” of suing a celebrity who's been trained to learn lines and play a part, believing that Paltrow has her own version of the truth when it comes to what went down on the slopes back in 2016. However, he did mention the response she gave him after winning the lawsuit was “sweet of her” as she told him, “I wish you well” to which he responded back with: “Thank you, dear.” According to The New York Post, the legal fees this retired optometrist owes to the Shallow Hal actress could be as much as $1 million. So, it makes sense for him to ponder whether or not suing a high-profile celebrity was worth it.

Even though a verdict has been reached, it doesn’t mean that Sanderson and his legal team are backing down so fast. According to TMZ, Sanderson’s attorney Robert Sykes said the plaintiff and his legal team might be considering an appeal.

Sykes thinks that there were a number of trial errors that can help bring about an appeal. He said that one point he found faulty was the judge allowing Gwyneth Paltrow’s lawyers to delve into Sanderson’s past which Sykes found “unrelated” to the allegations Sanderson made toward Paltrow. At the same time, Sanderson’s legal team was reportedly not allowed to dig into Paltrow’s past. No actions will be taken just yet by Sanderson’s legal team as they are weighing all of their options before making a final decision.

The report explains that both Apple and Moses Martin said that Sanderson was the one responsible for the crash. On the other side of the case, Sanderson and his lawyers claim the actress-turned-Goop owner hit him from behind. 

Apple Martin might not have seen the crash, but Moses Martin saw part of it. The 16-year-old said in his deposition that he recognized his mother as he stood lower on the mountain with his instructor. He said:  

It’s rare that Paltrow’s kids make public appearances or comments. In the past, Apple Martin has been blunt with her mom, saying the actress needs consent from her child to post anything with her in it, although we do get a rare look into Apple Martin’s life from time to time. While we don’t hear much from either of the children Paltrow shares with her ex Chris Martin, it does make sense that they are part of this trial, considering they were at the mountain, and saw their mother right after the collision in question happened.

While on the stand, the actress claimed that the ski collision felt like a “sexual assault,” and Sanderson’s lawyer asked her to act out what she meant by that.

Gwyneth Paltrow, who happily retired from acting to run her wellness company Goop, gave her account of what she claimed happened on the slopes back in 2016. According to TMZ, she said that retired optometrist Dr. Terry Sanderson came up from behind as she was skiing slowly down the run. She said that as the collision happened, his skis went between her legs and he was up against her back. During the retired actress' testimony, she said she thought for a second that she was being sexually assaulted. 

Sanderson’s lawyer questioned the Iron Man actress about if she felt the assault was “intentional” and asked if there was any "grinding or thrusting" involved. Paltrow said it was a “quick thought” that went into her head with confusion about what was going on. This led Sanderson’s lawyer to ask the actress:

The Shakespeare in Love actress confirmed that was the case. Sanderson’s lawyer then asked the business owner if she could act out her description of what happened on the trail in front of the court. Paltrow’s lawyer objected to the plaintiff's lawyer’s request and the idea was shelved.

The mystery regarding this civil lawsuit is who collided with whom. Sanderson, the plaintiff seeking damages from the actress, claimed she collided with him and left the scene with her ski instructor without getting him any medical care. The retired optometrist was originally suing Paltrow for $3.1 million, but court documents said he amended his complaint and changed it to $300,000 in damages. 

According to CNN, the Shallow Hal actress alleged that Sanderson was the one to run into her, and said that the crash was “absolutely not” a hit-and-run. She said she stayed on the mountain long after to make sure he was fine. Paltrow was also asked multiple times if she considered herself "accident-prone." Sanderson’s legal team tried to use previous media appearances of her calling herself clumsy as evidence against her testimony. In the end, the judge ruled this evidence as insufficient with this argument not being considered.

Gwyneth Paltrow, who has also been addressing the backlash regarding her controversial diet choices within the last week, is countersuing the plaintiff and asking for a symbolic $1 in damages plus attorneys’ fees. Now, almost seven years later, the case has gone to court, and the actress was called out for the "reckless" skiing accident during the first day of the trial, and she could end up paying $300,000 in damages. 

Dr. Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, was hit by Paltrow in what was described as a "hit and run" crash, according to the New York Post. His lawyer, Lawrence D. Buhler called the actress out in front of a jury, saying her skiing was "reckless," and explained that: 

Sanderson has accused Paltrow of causing permanent brain damage after she ran into him, and then immediately skied away at the Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah. His attorney explained to the jurors that the actress was going down an easy run with her kids, and soon-to-be husband Brad Falchuk as well as a few instructors when she ran into his client from behind. 

Buhler explained that the actress ran into Sanderson from behind and fell on top of him. He said this caused his client to sustain a concussion and four broken ribs, and said that he still has symptoms from the brain injury. Originally, he wanted $3.1 million in damages, however, a judge ruled that he was not entitled to punitive damages, saying his maximum could be $300,000, the New York Post reported in another article.

Sanderson’s lawyer also noted that Paltrow is an intermediate skier who has been doing it since she was 3, she also has experience at the Deer Valley resort.

On the other side of this case, Paltrow is countersuing Sanderson, saying that he hit her. The report claimed that the actress said the plaintiff delivered a “full-body blow” to her, and she stayed at the site of the crash after it happened. Due to this, the owner of Goop is asking for the retired optometrist to pay her legal fees and $1 in damages. The report explains that the retired actress seemed emotionless during the first day of the trial, and shook her head as her attorney took issue with the plaintiff’s lawyer saying she ran away from the site of the crash. 

The retired actress-turned-business owner is expected to take the stand during the trial to testify at her own defense. Her lawyers also wrote in their counterclaim that the doctor apparently also “admits he does not remember what happened.” They also said that she stayed at the scene, and did not hit and run. Paltrow’s lawyers also put in the counterclaim that doctors conducted brain tests on Sanderson that didn’t show “any deficits in his cognitive functioning.” 

This trial comes a week after Gwyneth Paltrow faced backlash over her viral diet, which she directly responded to, and today marked the first day of the court proceedings over this skiing accident. Among the criticism that’s been directed at Goop in recent years includes Simon Stevens, chief executive of England's National Health Service, taking aim at Gwyneth Paltrow and the company back in early 2020 following the premiere of the Netflix show The Goop Lab over “dubious wellness products and dodgy procedures.” Two years prior to that, Goop had to pay $145,000 in civil penalties for selling its “vaginal eggs” with dishonest claims. Speaking of those eggs, the CBS News interviewer, Tracy Smith, brought them up as a product that might be worthy of the “wacky” descriptor,” to which Paltrow said:

This isn’t the first time that Gwyneth Paltrow has directly commented on Goop-related criticism. Going back to The Goop Lab, Paltrow said in February 2020 that she and everyone else involved with the brand/company “do what we do in total integrity, and we love what we do,”  as well as accused the media of “they’re turning to the tabloidization to get the clicks” regarding the outlets that took issue with how certain topics were covered on the show. In this CBS interview, Paltrow also mentioned going “gluten-free” as another trend that she got in on before it became widely adopted.

In a 2020 interview of Quarantined with Bruce, Gwyneth Paltrow spoke about how she would get criticized for everything she did as well as having all of her breakups publicized like her divorce from Coldplay’s Chris Martin. Compared to allowing the entertainment business to pull her away from her friends and family, she’d rather be fully present in their lives.

Even though this former actress is saying no to acting right now, she mentioned to TODAY that a promise she made to her mother about being in a Broadway play is what is preventing her from being pulled away from acting completely. Unfortunately, this company has experienced a number of setbacks. Just recently on June 25th, two men had to be extinguished after catching fire at a Goop store from one of its products.

A Goop store in Sag Harbor Village, New York faced an explosion where two men caught fire during a small event. The culprit behind this was stone candle holders filled with rubbing alcohol. At Goop's s’mores station located on a patio outside, event-goers used this method of filling rubbing alcohol in stone candle holders to melt marshmallows after this technique was previously seen on social media. However, too much rubbing alcohol was added to the candle holders, which caused the explosion that engulfed two men in flames. Sag Harbor Village Chief of Police Austin J. McGuire told People he was shocked at this explosive display.

Luckily, there was a fire extinguisher at the location that saved the lives of these two men. One man had a large burn on his back and ears and had to be taken by a helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. The other man experienced facial burns and was transported by ambulance to Southampton Hospital. If not for that fire extinguisher, it was said that these two men would have faced far more serious injuries. 

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop business may not be doing so hot, but previous explosions linked with this e-commerce company sure are. The “vagina-scented” candle that the Avengers: Endgame star had been selling once exploded in the home of media consultant Jody Thompson who won this trending candle in an online contest. The controversy didn’t end there as one man started a class-action lawsuit against the candle that exploded after burning for about three hours. I’d like to hope that the scents of these candles are strong enough that you don’t have to stick your nose too deep in the potentially exploding candle.

Aside from her explosive business, The Royal Tenenbaums star doesn't seem to have any upcoming acting projects under her belt. However, she’s got her work cut out for her being a mother to her proud 18-year-old daughter Apple, looking more and more like each other. It kind of seems like every celebrity comes out with some kind of side hustle that ends up being a pretty big deal or huge business venture, but that’s kind of to be expected when a person the means. We see makeup brands, skin care companies, and health brands come out of the woodwork all the time - and don’t even get me started about the alcohol brands (I’m looking at you, Ryan Reynolds and Arnold Schwarzenegger). Kourtney Kardashian has her own wellness brand, and Gwyneth Paltrow responds to her fans asking if she is mad her company Goop has a celebrity-owned rival.

Gwyneth Paltrow shifted away from the life of an actress a number of years ago to pursue a career in the health and wellness industry, her company Goop offering its own products (like a vagina candle) as well as promoting products Paltrow supports. She created the company back in 2008 and she is now an established and recognizable figure in the industry.

Gwyneth Paltrow recently asked her Instagram followers to ask her questions and she answered them in her story (via Today), one of which was if she was mad that Kourtney Kardashian “copied” her with her newer company Poosh. Paltrow had pretty much the best response ever when she said there was room for every woman in the room, despite coming off a hard year in her business. Here it is in her exact words:

I can’t even begin to explain how much I love this response. Women don’t need to be competing against other women, but supporting each other and collaborating. It sounds like this would be the perfect opportunity for a collaboration between Goop and Poosh, and it would probably end up being pretty awesome. 

There is no such thing as an original idea anyway. There were similar brands that came before Goop and there have and will continue to be plenty of brands to come after it. That’s how basically everything is improved and evolves, people take ideas that are already out there and hone or tweak them with their own spins. 

Poosh and Goop may be in the same industry, but they do have pretty different vibes. Kourtney Kardashian’s company is a little vibey and new age, while Gwyneth Paltrow’s has a classic feel and is very clean. Paltrow also focuses more on her products, while Poosh is story based and centralized on blogs. Two different companies with two different strategies - I really wouldn’t say that Kardashian “copied” Paltrow in the first place. 

Gwyneth Paltrow’s comments about being accepting of Kourtney Kardashian’s wellness brand is very refreshing, especially since a wellness company should be thrilled about more people finding their mission of clean living and health important. Kardashian’s Poosh caters to fans who want the inside scoop on her and the rest of the Kardashian clan, and I wouldn’t be surprised if pictures of her and Travis Barker’s wedding don’t show up on a blog post soon. Poosh isn’t all about the family, of course, and  there would still be some value for people who don’t even know who the Kardashians are. As for Goop, I’m personally more willing to support a business that supports other women.

The Super Bowl is always good for some surprising and occasionally controversial advertising, and sure enough, this year delivered with a rather unique ad from Uber Eats. The commercial was meant to show that people can order more than just food with the service, and depicted multiple celebs such as Jennifer Coolidge (who is set to appear in The White Lotus) attempting to eat things that aren't food. We even saw Gwyneth Paltrow take a chomp out of one of her infamous Goop candles and of course, the internet had thoughts about that. 

For those that aren't familiar, Gwyneth Paltrow's company Goop (which is struggling a bit as of late) sells a candle for $75 that is called "This Smells Like My Vagina," and the source material for the scent probably isn't a huge mystery. Paltrow took a big old hunk out of the candle in the ad, and the internet just couldn't resist making jokes. 

Obviously, the answer to that question is literally no, and she didn't actually eat a candle, since that was clearly not for real. But obviously, there was some clear intention by Uber Eats to get the mind spinning in all kinds of directions. In fact, the ad even featured a small disclaimer at the bottom that read "Prop food. Don't eat anatomy candles." Some people might've taken that as a chance to poke fun at Gwyneth Paltrow, and get a little mean with their replies. 

But others kept it light-hearted, and applauded Gwyneth Paltrow for taking part in the self-masticating self-deprecating, so to speak. 

Reactions are, quite literally, all over the place in regards to the Uber Eats ad. As one might expect, for all the positive reactions there were, there are quite a few negative as well. After all, even if it's all implied, some aren't happy about the message sent during the Super Bowl ad. Either that, or they were victims of the exploding candle. Even if vaginas don't enter the conversation, the very concept of chowing down on a candle is too much.

There’s even a crowd of individuals that are taking the moment and just don’t know how to react. The moment really hit that hard, and there are folks who just don’t know how to cope with it all just yet. 

One thing that I think a lot of people can appreciate is the level of self-awareness here by Gwyneth Paltrow. Selling a couple of vagina-scented candles is one thing, but to then advertise it by taking a big bite out of it to drive the internet wild? That's bold. 

At the end of the day, of course, the Super Bowl Uber Eats ad did exactly what it was supposed to do. Whether people are amused, offended, or just flat-out flabbergasted, everyone is talking. No denying this ad will be one of the most talked-about of the year, and one that might generate further conversation in the coming days.

So it probably shouldn’t have been all that surprising that Gwyneth Paltrow and company have added another. Although the newest one is for a good cause: women’s reproductive rights. Because part of the proceeds will go to the ACLU Foundation’s Reproductive Freedom Project. As Paltrow herself shared:

That’s definitely one way to use your platform. And since the Goop’s vagina candle continues to be the butt of jokes and memes, Gwyneth Paltrow is using the newest version’s profits to stand up for the part of the anatomy which it’s scented after. The title of the new product says it all: “Hands off my vagina.”

Wade which legislated women’s right to bodily autonomy.

This new initiative by Goop and Gwyneth Paltrow comes as abortion access continues to be a hot button issue in the country. With certain states passing new laws against women’s choice, Roe v. Wade’s ruling is seemingly in jeopardy. And as such, folks like Paltrow are getting directly involved by raising money for the ACLU.

While Goop might be the butt of some jokes online, it’s clear that Gwyneth Paltrow has a very specific method to her lifestyle brand. This includes empowering women, and giving them a sense of power with their bodies. And Paltrow is putting her money where her *ahem* mouth is with this new initiative. Hopefully the company shares how much money it’s able to fundraise with the new vagina-scented candle.

Gwyneth Paltrow has largely stepped away from acting over the past few years, instead seemingly finding more joy with her business. There are a few exceptions, though, including her ongoing role in Netflix’s The Politician. She also famously played Pepper Potts throughout the first three phases of the MCU. How that happened: an old Twitter exchange was circulating on Instagram between The Bachelor Season 17’s Sean Lowe and his final rose winner/now-wife Catherine Giudici. They were seemingly joking around at the time about how buying off-brand pop-tarts was the “ugly side of marriage.” Apparently, though, Gwyneth Paltrow caught wind of their 2018 woes and decided to give them some actual sex advice to spark things up. She commented on the Instagram post with:

I have so many questions. Does this mean Gwyneth Paltrow is a Bachelor Nation fan? Did she know she @-ed the wrong Sean Lowe? What can Wolverine claws do specifically to rectify a pop-tart debacle? While those questions are harder to answer specifically from where yours truly sits, I can answer one inquiry: what even is a Wolverine claw in this context and how is it used for sex? Have no fear, I bravely researched and found out at least some of the answers.

As it turns out, the NSFW wolverine claw Gwyneth Paltrow is recommending doesn't do what the X-Men character does with his adamantium blades. (Those interested should hope so...) It looks quite similar, but the metallic claw actually is grazed across a sexual partner’s skin to sensitize it for foreplay and orgasm purposes. What's hilarious isn't exactly the sex toy itself, but the fact that Paltrow brought that up specifically for her advice to a Bachelor Nation alum who is most known for being staunchly religious. (Although his X-Men preferences are less publicized.) She claims that it features lessons (and evidently Wolverine-claw devices) that she herself wishes she'd learned about “years ago.” In the trailer, there’s seemingly also some mirror work and sex wizardry going on. No exploding Gambit cards or Storm-fueled hurricanes, however.

Regardless, all I know is that Gwyneth Paltrow’s latest sex advice gives entirely new and hysterical meaning to a plethora of famous X-Men’s Wolverine quotes, such as “Nature made me a freak. Man made me a weapon. And God made it last too long,” and “The pain lets you know you’re still alive,” both from 2017's Logan. Anyway, I feel like I somehow understand Paltrow’s own relationship dynamics better now.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop brand has always been a hot button for discussion, as well as a magnet for snark. But now thanks to a lawsuit filed by a man in Texas, Paltrow’s personal wellness company is the subject of a legal challenge. And just as you’d imagine, it’s all thanks to the rather interesting exploding vagina candle that the Avengers: Endgame star has been selling on the market.

Per details that were obtained by E! News, damages amounting to $5 million are being sought after, on behalf of all who purchased the candle. The class action lawsuit has originated from Texas resident Colby Watson, who claims that the “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle is prone to “catastrophic failure.” That failure being the fact that, after burning said candle for three hours or less, Watson reportedly discovered that it had exploded.

Naturally representatives for Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop have responded with a statement that asserts their candle is a safe and properly tested product. That statement also labeled Colby Watson’s legal action as “frivolous,” and nothing more than an attempt to use a “press heavy product” to make some money. With damages, attorney’s fees, and a potential jury trial in the works, this could be yet another big story surrounding a product from the Goop brand that’s been alleged to function not quite as advertised.

Who could forget the time where Goop’s jade vaginal eggs were the focus of a lawsuit that claimed Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellness brand was being dishonest about what they could or couldn’t do? Of course, the big difference in the case of this explosive vagina candle is not only the figure being sought after, but also the product and its more harmful malfunction. Plus, there’s already a documented history of “This Smells Like My Vagina” still being sold on Goop’s website, as well as a previous incident showing another instance of the explosive nature of this product.

Obviously, there’s contrary claims on both sides of the issue pertaining to Goop’s allegedly defective product. But the one thing that can conclusively be said about “This Candle Smells Like My Vagina” is the fact that it does indeed sell, and has also been known to be a good celebrity gift. At this time, Goop’s website lists the $75 candle as sold out, with their product partner Heretic not even listing the candle at all. Whether that’s because people want to get a whiff of its ribald scent, or if they think it’ll be an eventual collector’s item, is left to be determined.

No matter the outcome of this particular scenario, the fact that we’re even talking about a Goop product in this manner is par for the course. Love or hate Gwyneth Paltrow’s brand, you have to admit that there’s a degree of showmanship that keeps their name in the consciousness. Which means that the next product to be launched will naturally be met with much curiosity, and a lot of free publicity.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Apple Martin have a social media rule. Her famous mother can’t post a picture of her without permission, a fact we learned after the Shakespeare in Love star posted a picture from a ski trip without asking. Now, however, it seems that Apple Martin is fine with content posted to Instagram and the like -- at least if it give her the opportunity to roast her famous mother.

It wasn’t Gwyneth Paltrow herself but Goop that posted a recent video of Apple Martin walking fans through her moms morning routine. This involves a hefty amount of Goop products and even the mention of a “vagina egg,” but don’t take it from me, check out Martin watching her famous mother and providing hilarious commentary, below.

Really, if you think about it, you can either take this as a hilarious real look into what life as the kid of a famous celebrity is like, looking at their famous parent from the outside. Or, I suppose, if you are a big Goop fan, perhaps this look at the life and times of Gwyneth Paltrow is more of a PSA from Apple Martin. Meanwhile, however, Martin seems to have zero issue absolutely roasting her mother:

All of this vagina talk may seem a little bit joke-like, but Goop is legitimately known for things like vagina eggs and vagina candles. In fact, Kim Kardashian was recently gifted some of these vagina-oriented products after splitting up with Kanye West. So, the company takes the products seriously, even if Apple Martin is having some fun with it.

Sometimes when you split from your longterm partner and the father of your four kids, you need a little rest and relaxation. Or at least, that’s what Goop head honcho Gwyneth Paltrow seemingly posited when she recently sent Kim Kardashian a bag full of goodies following her big split from Kanye West. And because I know you’re curious: Yes, Kardashian did get one of Goop’s famous vagina candles.

Recently, Kim Kardashian West did what she does best, taking to her Instagram Stories to share the notable gifts she’d gotten from Gwyneth Paltrow including a custom candle called “This Smells Like Kim’s Orgasm.” They all came in a box described as “Kim’s Box of Tricks.” Take a look.

The candle in question is from Goop’s partnership with the brand Heretic. It’s made news on several occasions due to a. Being a candle that’s all about the vagina and b. Being a candle that allegedly once exploded in a home. Nécessaire’s Sex Gel and a vibrator were also a part of the very notable package. While the package didn’t expressly say it was for Kim Kardashian as she’s dealing with her divorce, the implication is pretty clear.

Kim Kardashian and Gwyneth Paltrow also had a nice exchange over the package. The Keeping up with the Kardashians star also took to her Instagram Stories to thank Gwyneth Paltrow for the gifts, and she seemingly can’t wait to try em, jokingly noting,

Paltrow responded, telling Kim K. she “loved” her more. It's a win-win situation for both stars, as Paltrow got free publicity for her famous candles and Kim K. got some free products herself. Though it's worth noting that Gwyneth Paltrow is no stranger to what Kim Kardashian is currently going through, having split from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2015 (finalized in 2016). She’s now married to prominent producer Brad Falchuk and her ex is with Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson. They allegedly all hang out and meet for Sunday dinners at times. So, splits can get better.

Hopefully at some point, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West can get back to friendlier times, though recent reports have indicated there’s no direct communication between the couple as they work out the details of their high-profile split (and are still trying to co-parent without direct communication). As a single woman, she’s allegedly been enjoying her downtime and a slew of “Girls nights.” Sounds like Kim’s Box of Tricks may have come at a good time.

Paltrow reflected on the Oscar win while stopping by on Anna Faris’ podcast Unqualified. The 48-year-old said that at the time of her win, her father had been recovering from cancer, and she had been very much focused on her family and his health. When she got nominated for her role in Shakespeare in Love she described it as the “weirdest, most surreal time” that had all sorts of thoughts flurrying, such as imposter syndrome and the belief that everyone must hate her for being nominated for the coveted prize.

When you win an Oscar, you instantly become the talk of the town, and that’s what happened to Gwyneth Paltrow, for better and for worse, when she nabbed the prize in 1999. She said she felt like she needed to just hide out at her parents house, and she apparently did for three weeks. Her mother is Blythe Danner, who is also an award-winning actress, and her father was director/producer Bruce Paltrow, who died in 2002 due to complications from cancer.

At the time of her win, Gwyneth Paltrow was doing project after project after project, including The Royal Tenenbaums and Shallow Hal. As she’s since opened up about, she got super burned out a few years after winning her Oscar and decided not to take a major role since. She has however become well-known for playing Pepper Potts in seven Marvel films.

Gwyneth Paltrow recently spoke out about the continued symptoms she has felt almost a year after contracting COVID-19 with husband Brad Falchuk. Her latest role was in Netflix’s The Politician, which Falchuk co-created. During this year’s Oscars, the Best Actress nominations on the table are for either Viola Davis, Andra Day, Vanessa Kirby, Frances McDormand and Carey Mulligan. This year’s Academy Awards are being held on Sunday, April 25.

In the past year, 110 million people worldwide have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 with close to 2.5 million deaths resulting from the virus. It has proven not to have any boundaries, as the pandemic has reached some of Hollywood’s biggest names and their families since the early months of last year. Marvel’s Pepper Potts and Goop’s CEO Gwyneth Paltrow just opened up about her own dealings with the coronavirus.

Paltrow took to a blog post on Goop’s website to share how COVID-19 affected her body and offered some insight about how she’s dealing with the long term effects she’s been experiencing. In her words:

According to the 48-year-old actress and businesswoman, she had COVID in the early months of the pandemic, and she’s still feeling some side effects from the virus long after having it. Paltrow still deals with “brain fog,” which affects one’s ability to think, remain organized, and focused.

At the start of 2021, she decided to get some lab work done that told her that she still is dealing with inflammation within her body. In turn, Gwyneth Paltrow has been placing a lot of focus on her health and lifestyle in between raising her two kids that she had with ex -husband, Chris Martin.

As she shared with her Goop audience, she decided to apply the techniques of a medicine practitioner named Dr. Will Cole, and his method of fasting, which includes her skipping meals until 11 a.m. and turning to mainly keto and plant-based foods. She said she is cooking, working out in the mornings, taking supplements "in service of a healthier gut,” and using an infrared sauna.

Knowing Gwyneth Paltrow and her famous lifestyle brand, the actress has a lot more resources to become knowledgeable about fighting back against the lingering side effects of COVID-19 and she is using her platform to share what she is doing and plug some of the products the brand has in stock for customers. It’s a advice from the holistic approach Goop stands by.

Paltrow’s post goes to show that COVID-19 hits everyone differently, and focusing on our own health is more important than ever. Tom Hanks, for example, is more than 15 years older than Paltrow, and he had mild symptoms. It’s great to hear that the actress is staying strong and doing all she can to remain healthy.

The exploding "vagina" candle isn't the first time both Goop and Gwyneth Paltrow have experienced negative feedback over a product related to the female anatomy. In 2018, the brand and actor were the subject of a libel suit filed by users of "vaginal eggs." The suit asserted that the website falsely advertised that vaginal eggs help with hormones, menstrual cycles and bladder control. In the end, the suit was settled and Goop paid $145,000 in civil penalties and offered refunds to customers.

After the lawsuit, Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop continued to make headlines for the unhealthy side effects that were reported to be associated with many of its products. The brand and its TV show have also been criticized for the medical practices it advertises, which some could be dangerous. Paltrow has previously admitted that she doesn't always know the ins and outs of the lifestyle brand she founded. With the brand's modern-day take on wellness, she even finds herself wondering about the exact marketing approach of the company.

Given the reception of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, Thompson’s ordeal with the “vagina” candle may give naysayers more room to criticize the brand. With that said, accidents happen and products malfunction, so people shouldn’t be too hard on the actor or her brand.

As we ring in 2021, many of our celebrations look a lot different this time around. Big parties and crowded city ball drops won’t be the norm for families as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect more people everyday. But, that doesn’t mean New Year’s Eve can’t be celebrated at home and virtually. We’ll still find a way to say a hard goodbye to 2020 and toast to the next chapter ahead. Gwyneth Paltrow has been super active on social media lately, whether that be sharing posts her children have approved of or even spending some time interviewing some other a-listers, such as Cameron Diaz. This week, she tried something new as she was turning 48, however, and went all in on body positivity, going nude to celebrate feeling happy with the way she looks in her forties.

The actress took to Instagram this weekend to celebrate her September 27th birthday (which makes her a Libra, in case that's a point of interest). This year, she turned 48 and she celebrated in her “birthday suit,” quite literally. It's safe enough for Instagram, so you don't need to stress out about this one being too NSFW, however.

Many of us probably hope to be able to pull off a photo like that in our late forties. Gwyneth Paltrow actually took the opportunity to promote feeling great with maybe a little help from her Goop brand, which is just all kinds of enterprising and not a terrible advertising strategy. She’s not the only actress who has celebrated her body as she's gotten old in recent years, however.

Jennifer Lopez is 51 and still constantly rocking out looks – and exercise routines – women half her age can’t pull off. Then, there’s Halle Berry, an actress who is still doing crazy stunt work in movies such as John Wick Chapter 3 and who has also shown she is unafraid to show off a little skin on social media. At 54, Berry even has a few more years on Gwyneth Paltrow. I guess what I’m saying is, age is just a number and, body butter or no body butter, Paltrow looks great and will continue to look great down the line.

Lots of Paltrow’s celebrity pals or acquaintances also had some positive things to say about her birthday suit post. Courtney Cox called it “inspiring,” also noting that Gwyneth Paltrow is “beautiful.” Katy Perry and Vanessa Hudgens also commented, with Perry joking “love this low-profile way to celebrate” and Hudgens simply stating "wow."

Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow has generally shown she’s unafraid of what people think of her or the projects she is involved in. If she feels something is a good idea for Goop she goes for it, which is how we’ve even gotten ads where Gwyneth Paltrow has seemed to be standing in the middle of a giant vagina and more. Doubtless, lots of people will likely have thoughts about Gwyneth Paltrow going nude on social media to celebrate looking great at 48, but if I had to guess, she’s happy with the photo or she wouldn’t have shared it for all the Internet to see this week.

When Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow split back in 2014, they released a statement noting instead of just breaking up they were “conscious uncoupling.” It’s been a phrase that has followed Gwyneth Paltrow in particular ever since and she’s finally chosen to explain where the terminology came from. Apparently, it was a term a therapist had used to get them on the same page about exiting their marriage but still co-parenting their kids.

In a new essay this week, Gwyneth Paltrow explained a lot about the end of her marriage with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. She noted that while they had great rapport, they never “quite fit together” and as the years wore on their relationship kept being like a puzzle piece that would just not go where they wanted it to.

Paltrow in particular says she really, really wanted to keep things amicable, telling the U.K. Vogue that was the moment “conscious uncoupling came in.” It was a way of living apart from one another but still sharing events and moments together, a concept that had been introduced by a therapist.

What happened next is very memorable. The phrase caught fire and became something the internet could not let go. The term was mocked and derided and called “pretentious.” Whether or not that was the intent of the former couple, these days a good majority of people probably equate Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin with the phrase “conscious uncoupling.” It’s cool that they can still hang out, though. Paltrow’s even gone as far as to call Chris Martin basically her “sibling” these days.

From the moment Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow dropped the “conscious uncoupling” letter onto her high-profile lifestyle service Goop, it’s been everywhere. But whereas before people mostly responded with what she says was “a strange combination of mockery and anger,” she says now they’ve seen the relationship she and her ex have fostered. These days, she says she gets a very different response.

So, I guess these days she feels more comfortable with the term than ever as it helped her to learn things about herself. The Marvel actress officially wrapped her divorce with Chris Martin in 2016 and since then has found new romance with Brad Falchuk, a producer most known for his work on Glee (where he met Gwyneth Paltrow) and American Horror Story. Things are going very well these days for her and for Goop, but it does just go to show how one minor decision in a press release can change things in a notable way in a person's life. Sometimes being an a-lister can be hard, as Paltrow's pal Cameron Diaz can also attest.

Cameron Diaz has been more and more active on social media in recent months, as she gains exposure and interest in various business sectors and also shines a spotlight on her new life as a mom. However, a topic of interest is still Diaz’s retirement, first rumored, then self-proclaimed. Now the actress has explained to Gwyneth Paltrow exactly why she stepped back and stopped making movies.

Speaking with Goop’s “Health: The Sessions,” Cameron Diaz spoke out about her new wine business and exactly why she quit acting after 2014’s Annie. She noted that acting had been a “grind,” also touching on her family life with Benji Madden as reasons.

Gwyneth Paltrow took the conversation a step further by asking Cameron Diaz how she felt about dropping into a lower profile role in Hollywood and Cameron Diaz really opened up about what life was like for her when she was constantly on movie sets and being fawned over by those working for productions. It's fewer rainbows and butterflies and more stressors than you might imagine, as she talked about the long days, the constant buzz of people being around, the constricted schedules and lack of freedom of movement or even thought. Eventually, she realized she wanted to be on a different path.

Cameron Diaz also touched on the crazy 12-hour days of filming movies at the peak of her career. She says she dropped relationships and was “infantilized” when she was constantly working at a high level and was never “truly comfortable” with the people enabling her to live in her narrow acting lane. She says it took real work to get to a point where she could not only build herself up but also her relationships up as well.

The conversation between Cameron Diaz and Gwyneth Paltrow is remarkably candid, touching on how Cameron Diaz and Gwyneth Paltrow have both shown growth throughout their lives and careers. Both A-list actresses share a lot of similarities and have moved on from major acting careers to other projects, Paltrow notably with Goop and Diaz with her new wine brand Avaline. Honestly, it’s a great conversation if you have time to watch the whole thing.

These days, both Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz have found more “self-sufficient” identities and loving partners. Diaz also credits her husband Benji Madden for helping her fully realize this post-acting version of herself. These days, she’s working on a bunch of different ventures, but I do occasionally wonder if she might pull a Michelle Pfeiffer and start taking a movie role or two one day down the line. Either way, she seems very happy these days and that sticking is clearly the important thing.

Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle website Goop has come under fire several times in the past few years for selling products with some outrageous and unfounded claims, so when it was announced that the company was bringing its ideals to Netflix with The Goop Lab, many were taken aback. Well, the show debuted almost a month ago, and has received a lot of criticism for promoting treatments and therapies without a lot of science behind them to back up claims of how they supposedly help people. If you think Paltrow is daunted by any of those negative reviews, though, you'd be wrong.

Considering how many times Goop has had to deal with issues over the products it sells, including having to pay $145,000 in civil penalties in 2018 for selling "vaginal eggs" with dishonest claims, it's not completely surprising that Gwyneth Paltrow isn't phased by criticisms of The Goop Lab which call it pseudo-science and fake news. Here's what she had to say about all the negative press:

As you can see from what Gwyneth Paltrow told Variety, not only do the things that people have said about The Goop Lab not bother her, but she seems to be a bit baffled by the intense scrutiny her company is under. As far as Paltrow is concerned, the main point is that she and the rest of those at Goop are doing their best to "change the conversation" by bringing alternative therapies to light, and because they do it with "total integrity," there's nothing wrong with seeing what might help people feel and / or look better.

The Goop Lab explores different alternative therapies in each episode, all based around a specific topic like cold therapy, energy healing or psychic mediums, and then has Paltrow and her employees test out various methods to see how they feel afterward. They jumped into ice cold lakes, had psychic readings, tried out their own psychic powers, went on really restrictive diets, had facials where slowly dissolving threads were surgically implanted into their faces and much more.

For the most part, no one had any complaints about their experiences, but it would be pretty easy to argue that, because these are all Goop employees undergoing the treatments, they're already open to trying such things and seeing validity where there may be none. It's also true that, while The Goop Lab does talk to experts in each field, some of them are clearly already close with Gwyneth Paltrow, and there aren't really opposing opinions or studies of the treatments offered.

But, none of this bothers Gwyneth Paltrow and she takes particular issue with media outlets that cried foul with the way topics were handled on The Goop Lab:

There's no word yet on whether or not The Goop Lab will get a second season from Netflix, but Gwyneth Paltrow did also mention in her interview how difficult it was to narrow the topics down to six for Season 1, so it would seem that she and her team already have several possibilities for a new season should the streamer ask for it.

A lot has been said about Gwyneth Paltrow and her lifestyle website, Goop, in the 12 years since she started it. But now that the site has branched out into the new Netflix show The Goop Lab... well, people are losing their minds. I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at the six episodes of Season 1 and see if the nuttiness went any further than Paltrow smiling prettily in front of a bright pink mock up of a certain piece of female anatomy, and, what do you know, it does! Surprise!

Each episode deals with what Netflix calls "boundary-pushing wellness topics," and I'm sure Paltrow and her Goop team would agree. While it's clear that Paltrow and her fellow Goopers want us all to watch each segment and fully believe in every new fangled tactic to get / be / live healthier, more whole lives, it's really hard to embrace many of these things as easily as they (mostly) seem to. And, that is, indeed, because of the wild things that go on as Paltrow and Goop's chief content officer, Elise Loehnen, explore the subjects.

So, without further ado, let's get into the most WTF moments from Gwyneth Paltrow's The Goop Lab!

Getting High On Mushrooms Seems Boring AF (Episode 1)

Whoa, boy! The Goop Lab starts off real slow when we watch a group of what I shall henceforth call Goop Guinea Pigs head to Jamaica to do a bunch of mushrooms. Now, when I say "a bunch," I really mean "an appropriate amount as decided by people who lead folks on guided psychedelic drug trips as a means of therapy," and it's just as boring as you'd expect.

We get to watch a lot of laughing, crying and deep "thoughts" about stupid shit like clouds. Each episode of TGL is about 35 minutes long, but this one felt like watching a whole boring ass movie with poorly translated subtitles in a theater without stadium seating or wait staff to bring me booze. No one even tried to jump off a tall building in this episode. Ugh.

Keeping Goop Nipples Under Control In The Cold (Episode 2)

So, the whole point of Episode 2 of The Goop Lab is to see if special breathing techniques and gradual cold exposure can lead us to control our moods and even diseases we might be suffering from, but I actually found my own takeaway from this episode. All of the Goop Guinea Pigs seemed very happy with the experience and reported feeling energized and so forth afterward. But, all I really took away from it was that we've, apparently, finally found the answer to not nipping out when the temps drop: breathing juuuussst right.

How have I confirmed this very important side effect? Well, after watching this group do a joint breathing exercise covered by blankets, they all stripped down to swimsuits to head out into the elements, do some "snowga" (yeah, yoga in the snow) and then jump into a cold body of water. These people had no coats, ear muffs, scarves, gloves or even shoes... and there were literally no chesty pleasure buds on display. One woman talked about how the water was so cold she felt like she was drowning, even though she clearly never was, and even she wasn't nipped out! I love an unintentional discovery!

So. Many. Vulvas! (Episode 3)

Let me make myself clear, for a regular ol' entertainment writer, I actually write a lot about porn and sex (It's CinemaBlend's fault, Mom! I swear!), so I am no prude. Also, I'm all for loving your body, being sex positive and doing whatever you need to enjoy the more... horizontal parts of life. While I'm on board with the messages from sex educator Betty Dodson's appearance on The Goop Lab about women needing to own their sexuality and understand their bodies, I know that many folks will be simply shocked by all the close up photos of vulvas in this episode.

What's that, you say? You don't know what a vulva is? Well, this is exactly why Dodson is sure to educate everyone on the fact that it's what most of us have probably been calling a vagina our whole lives. And, it's also why she wants to remove the idea that vulvas need to look a certain way (thanks to the aforementioned porn), and we actually see uninterrupted, close up, full screen shots of several of those mamas, one after another, during the show. Even with all my potty mouth sex talk (For work!), I was stunned by it. But, not horrified. Plus, I didn't look away. So, not to brag, but I might be better than some of you.

Gwyneth Paltrow And Her Friends Get The Worst Facials (Episode 4)

There are few women who don't enjoy a little spa time now and again, right? You get to lay back, relax and let someone else massage your weary parts and worry about how to stop your wrinkles, fade dark spots or whatever. Well, leave it to damned Gwyneth Paltrow and her experimental friends to completely ruin the idea of paying someone with good hands to apply a bunch of fancy potions to your face to make you look younger. One of these ladies got an acupuncture facial, which looked scary enough, but it got way worse.

See the woman above with the weird white lines on her face who's getting an injection? She didn't just go in for some sissy facial massage, oh no. This Goop Guinea Pig was so committed that she allowed slow dissolving threads to be surgically inserted in her fucking face! Why? Oh, you know, just to (possibly) stimulate collagen production and make her look younger while also literally pulling back her face parts to appear as fresh as a new born babe. The weirdest process, though, was probably Paltrow's "Vampire Facial." They drew her blood, got all the platelet-rich plasma out, and then... wait for it... injected it into her face with several tiny needles. Science for the win!

All The Energy Work Exorcisms We Could Ever Want (Episode 5)

There is really no good way to explain what happens in this episode except to lay the weirdness on the line. According to chiropractor and body worker (his literal job title) John Amaral, the body is actually multidimensional, layered and doesn't end at our physical selves. So, his job is to put folks on massage-like tables and... I still sort of don't know. Pull the bad juju out? Force good vibes in? Manipulate all the non-physical body space to eke out negative emotions and such? Something tells me that if I asked him he would give an enthusiastic "Yes!" to all of that as a job description.

Oddly enough, as I mentioned a bit, Amaral rarely touches his clients; mostly just waving his hands above or out to the sides of their bodies to ply his trade and get those bad things gone. The result, though, is a room full of folks writhing about or shaking like they're in the throes of orgasm, demon possession, seizure, stroke, what-have-you. And, it's freaky to watch, especially when someone who isn't looking at him moves in a way that exactly mimics his pushing into / pulling out of the body movements. Whatever gets you through the night.

Finally Proving That None Of This Madness Will Work For Everyone (Episode 6)

Well, we've come to the final episode of The Goop Lab, and it's been quite a ride, hasn't it? For the grand finale of this go-round, Gwyneth Paltrow and her buddies have decided to take it easy on us and give all us skeptics something we can fully understand: A Goop Guinea Pig Who Is A Total Non-Believer! Ana, who you can see in the above photo smiling in the back with the long wavy hair, is along for the ride to see if psychic medium Laura Lynne Jackson can help her fellow Goopers open up their own psychic abilities. And, Ana. Is. Having. Nooooooone of this shit!

Ana went in with the best intentions, hoping to see if she could be convinced that any of this stuff might be real in even a subtle way. She tried her best with every exercise, even while giggling, making what were simply the most entertaining faces while listening to the others describe impossible stuff, or asking Jackson and the group questions such as "Everyone can't have this superpower... Right?" Jackson decided to do a reading just for Ana, likely to truly convince her, and what happened? Not only was nothing Jackson said true for Ana, but it was revealed to be true for a random producer also in the room! You guys? Ana just won The Goop Lab experience!

Since its Netflix debut just a week ago, Gwyneth Patrow's The Goop Lab has caused a lot of controversy. The show puts Paltrow's Goop lifestyle brand on screen by having her and her employees go through a series of experimental practices designed to (hopefully) make them feel and / or look better. Now, Simon Stevens, chief executive of England's National Health Service is taking aim at many of the practices explored on the series.

Each of the six-episodes in the freshman season tackles a different topic or procedure, and these range from something as simple as women being encouraged to get out a mirror and look at their vulvas in order to fully understand their bodies, to getting psychic readings, "energy exorcisms," "vampire facials" and even doing mushrooms. Simon Stevens recently spoke at an Oxford Conversations event in England (via The Guardian) and while talking about the impact of fake news on our lives, told those in attendance that many of the procedures shown on The Goop Lab exemplify just that:

While The Goop Lab tries to make it clear that the show is "designed to entertain, not provide medical advice" in a notice put up before the beginning of each episode, part of Simon Stevens' point is that because these practices aren't confirmed to do what they are said to do, and because they can actually be quite dangerous under normal circumstances or, especially, if done incorrectly, that it's dangerous to show them in such a lighthearted way at all.

And, The Goop Lab is pretty light entertainment. I've watched the whole season, and, aside from the times when participants get emotional about their problems and how things like psychedelic-assisted therapy sessions and doing special breathing exercises that mimic hyperventilating have helped them, there are a lot of laughs, intentional and otherwise.

Also, it's pretty clear throughout that Gwyneth Paltrow and her team (for the most part) believe in the tactics that are used in the show, with Paltrow having invited several practitioners she's clearly worked with before or at least already has some faith in to be interviewed. Plus, you can't watch The Goop Lab without noticing that, while they might throw up the occasional fact that disputes the claims being made, they never have real interviews on the show with doctors, researchers or other health professionals who take issue with the procedures.

Simon Stevens is very worried about therapies like the ones shown on The Goop Lab taking off when they haven't been properly verified to actually work, especially because we live in a time when fake news can be around the world in nearly an instant. To him, this is especially dangerous when all of us either deal with complicated health issues in ourselves or loved ones, and will do almost anything at some point to find answers. According to BBC, at the same event Stevens also said:

Gwyneth Paltrow’s much-discussed, sometimes controversial lifestyle brand Goop is getting its own Netflix show. The reality show/ documentary/ some kind of thing is set to premiere on January 24th. To hype the new property, Netflix dropped a trailer and a poster today, and well, the poster is utterly amazing in a vaginal kind of way.

Well, let me be more direct since Gwyneth certainly has no problem with bluntness. It looks like she’s standing in a cartoon vagina, and the smile on her face pretty clearly indicates she’s loving it. You can check out the artistic masterwork below…

To be clear, I’m not being sarcastic in the slightest. I genuinely love the fact that Gwyneth Paltrow is exactly who she is without any apologies. I don't care what other people think. She's great. Hollywood celebrities are often accused of being fake and trying to manufacture a personality. I strongly believe there’s nothing manufactured at all about Gwyneth Paltrow. I think she says whatever pops into her head and pursues whatever goals she wants to, and while standing in a vagina isn’t an artistic choice I would make if I had my own Netflix show, I appreciate that it seems very in character for her and for Goop. So, job well done.

Just Gwyneth Paltrow doing Gwyneth Paltrow things. I love it. From what I can gather, the basic premise of the show is women trying out weird shit. It’s like No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, except instead of eating street food, they’re going to try weird medical procedures and take body positive classes and possibly something with ghosts also.

Goop started out as kind of a joke and was widely mocked for a long period of time. Undeterred because it’s exactly what she’s meant to be doing in life, Paltrow kept pushing forward to find the audience she was looking for. Eventually she found it, and the company is now allegedly worth $250M. Good for her.

This is normally the part of the article where I would summarize my thoughts, but instead, I’m going to add in one final note just in case. There are some on the Internet who think this is not actually a vagina but instead just some an interesting pink background. I strongly disagree with those people, but if, for some reason, they turn out to be correct and this was all a whoopsie, please remember this part of the article before you roast me in the comment section. That being said, though, come’on. This has to be an intentional choice, right?

We’ve got the goop, er scoop, on Gwyneth Paltrow. The actress known most recently for her work in the beautysphere has been pulling double duty between that gig and acting jobs in recent years. There was apparently some expectation that after Avengers: Endgame Paltrow might be calling it quits. However, now the actress has spoken out about some previous Internet chatter saying Goop had taken over her work time. Per Paltrow:

While Gwyneth Paltrow told Today’s Savannah Guthrie that Goop kind of is her life these days, she doesn’t want to officially retire from acting or anything. In fact, she filmed a web series The Politician for 2019 and, although Endgame was filmed some time ago, she also has that coming up. It’s definitely true that Paltrow spoke out about retiring from the MCU after Endgame, at the time saying she was “a bit old to be in a suit.” She later recanted and said she would come back for Robert Downey Jr. if she were needed.

Still, it’s definitely true that Gwyneth Paltrow has slowed down in the acting business in recent years.

However, leaving the MCU and slowing down aren’t the same as passing on every single project that comes her way. Gwyneth Paltrow’s focus may be on Goop, which is expanding into Netflix content and more, but she also said she’s still very much in the acting game when the right project comes along.

During her time on Today, Paltrow also reflected on what Goop has become, revealing it was always her dream to get into business and eventually build a lifestyle brand that she could be proud of, but getting there was the challenge.

Goop was launched by Gwyneth Paltrow in 2008, at a time when she was still taking a lot of acting gigs -- that year, in fact, Iron Man, Two Lovers and a short called Pashmy Dream were released. As Goop has picked up, her career has slowed but not halted. In 2017, Paltrow's only filming happened for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Last year, Avengers: Infinity War was her only onscreen gig. Neither of those roles were large movie roles, but the actress has appeared in at least one project every year going back to 2010. Meanwhile, her major lifestyle brand is now worth $250 million and consumes a large chunk of the actress' time.

This is a very different deal than a lot of other actors who have gotten out of the game at various points. Robert Redford recently retired and almost immediately regretted the comment. Michelle Pfeiffer also talked about how raising kids sort of led to her not acting for a period of years before she was able to push back into the game. Then, there's Cameron Diaz, who dealt with some press recently over whether or not she is retired, since she hasn't acted after appearing in Annie back in 2014.

So, what the future holds for Gwyneth Paltrow in the acting world is unclear as her tenure at Marvel (seemingly) wraps up. What is very clear, however, is that she'll have plenty of work to do at Goop in the meantime.

Back in March of last year, Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop company was valued at $250 million. That’s a hefty amount for the company, which is known for selling things like vaginal eggs. In its quest for profit and expansion, Goop is now going to get into some original TV content and the company has now announced it will be partnering with Netflix in order to do so.

Netflix has a lot of money to throw in for original content and it has shown a propensity to snap up a variety of genre properties. In the case of Goop, the company is hoping to get into streaming with a new docuseries which will focus on “physical and spiritual wellness,” according to Variety. Each episode will be 30-minutes in length and will feature a number of experts in a particular field.

In addition to the experts, both Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop’s CCO Elise Loehnen will be hosting the episodes, so there will be a little bit of star power behind the currently untitled project. Paltrow can next be seen in Avengers: Endgame.

When asked about the project, Elise Loehnen did reveal that it will look into physical, mental and sexual health, and will focus on Goop fans who are wanting to live their best lives. Still, what the show will really be about is a bit of a puzzler, as Loehnen shared this gem regarding what to expect:

If Goop TV expects to be disruptive, it picked the right partner in Netflix. The subscription streaming company has been disruptive from the start and has continued to disrupt traditional cable and network television. In recent years, the company has added a slew of TV programs, from scripted originals to docuseries and even talk shows to its slate. Even more recently, Netflix even got into the theatrical release game in order to try and compete with movie theaters. Roma is the streaming service's first big release to gain Oscars traction, but Netflix shows have been receiving awards notice for years now.

If you are a Goop fan, Goop isn’t stopping there. The group will also be adding podcasts to its repertoire. The company already publishes both magazine and book components, although the magazine will be paused while this new Netflix project comes together.

Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle brand Goop wants to become more inclusive. Partnering with Universal Standard, Goop will be releasing a collection of five women's styles, which come in sizes between 00 and 40. It hopes to continue the conversation about inclusivity in fashion, and with this new collection of clothes, it's aiming to provide fashionable designs for many women. Paltrow also released a statement on behalf of her company, saying:

The new fashion line launched on Tuesday, according to Entertainment Tonight. Joined by Universal Standard's Polina Veksler and Alexandra Waldman, the five "elegant essentials," as the clothing collection is referred to, will include a wool tuxedo jacket, a brushed-back hi-low dress, a brushed-back jumpsuit, wool cropped trousers and a wool peacoat jacket. The prices for these clothing items will range between $225 to $395, based on the item.

Further elaborating on its intentions and desires for these new clothing options, Alexandra Waldman said the following in the statement:

Meanwhile, this clothing collection isn't the only project currently in the works for Goop. Gwyneth Paltrow's company is also reportedly in talks at the moment for a possible television deal with Netflix. It is hoping to make a series based on Goop-related content. Uh... I'm not quite sure how that is going to work exactly, but it is figuring out the details at the moment. We should expect to hear more if it comes to light in the next few months.

Goop has found themselves in hot water for a number of reasons recently, but it are hoping to win more people over with its latest projects, including its newest fashion line made available earlier this week. We can only hope it stays out of trouble based on some of its past controversies.

Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow isn't the only celebrity who is introducing clothing for women of all sizes. As it was reported by Saks Off 5th (via The Hollywood Reporter) yesterday, Amy Schumer recently teamed up with celebrity stylist and costume designer Leesa Evans to create Le Cloud, which is a collection of women's clothing that is made to "empower women of all ages and sizes." It is also hoping to make women feel "comfortable" and "confident" through its new and stylish collection of clothing. The name was based on the actress' desire to have clothing that feels as light as a cloud.

Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle and wellness company Goop is often known for its controversies. Whether it's related to misleading product descriptions or items sold that don't necessarily do what they're intended to do, Paltrow's high-profile business isn't often out of the line of fire when it comes to legal hassles and general trouble. That tradition continues today, as Goop finds itself, once again, in hot water due to unhealthy side effects.

To be more specific, Goop is in trouble with the UK's trading standards and advertising folks. They believe Gwyneth Paltrow's controversial lifestyle brand makes "misleading claims," as well as "potentially harmful" ones, when it comes to the products the world-famous company sells fairly regularly on their website. It can be detrimental to customers buying the products, specifically expecting mothers. A formal complaint was issued by a non-profit charity, The Good Thinking Society, to the National Trading Standards and the Advertising Standards Authority-- as reported by The Sunday Times.

The complaint from The Good Thinking Society is particularly critical of Goop's advertising, which might persuade consumers to "use products which could cause direct harm." The non-profit charity also attacked a few health claims made by the lifestyle brand, which they believe are "unauthorized." To be exact, the people over at The Good Thinking Society list upwards of 113 examples in which Goop's advertising is under critical consideration.

Among the products that are being held until criticism at the moment is a supplement called The Mother Load. It provides a bountiful amount of Vitamin A to women, particularly pregnant women-- but it is reportedly against medical advice for women to take Vitamin A supplements. In fact, it could be potentially dangerous.

Considering this new spotlight and health concerns Goops' Goop's Senior Vice President of Science and Research Susan Beck responded, saying:

Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow hasn't publicly responded to the claims made against her company. The actress has admitted in the past that she doesn't always keep up with all the ins-and-outs of her lifestyle brand, and her attention is focused inward towards her personal life, as she just got re-married. In late September, the actress said "I do" to Brad Falchuk, the co-creator of Glee, American Horror Story, and Scream Queens. The Hamptons wedding was private, but it was reportedly still a celebrity-filled event.

Gwyneth Paltrow and her beauty and wellness company Goop are rarely far from the news. But this time, it's particularly bad press. As it is being reported this week, the brand's patented "vaginal eggs" have drawn some major criticism from buyers and retailers, particularly based on their claims that they will balance your hormones, regulate your menstrual cycle or help with bladder control-- which are reportedly exaggerated or just plain inaccurate. Now, the wellness company will be paying $145,000 in civil penalties for being dishonest with their consumers, and the brand will reportedly reimburse anyone who bought the product between January 12th, 2017 and August 31st, 2017. Here's the scoop on Goop and their latest dupe, which has ultimately gotten them in some serious poop.

As it was reported by Business Insider, Goop settled a lawsuit on Tuesday that claimed that the claims made in the description of the "vaginal eggs" product were falsified or simply wrong. Brought by the Santa Clara District Attorney office, the claim was settled and the payment was administered, although that's not the end of vaginal eggs. In fact, the product is still available and being sold on the official Goop website, albeit with some, shall we say, clearer descriptions about the product and what is is able to do.

Whether or not customers are going to feel inclined to buy the product after this fallout is a whole other matter altogether, but the legalities of the case didn't prevent the company from selling the product. Rather, the descriptions insisted that they should be accurate about what the product does. Of course, it's not simply the matter of selling the wrong product; it's a safety hazard. These products are sensitive and if they are used wrongly or for the wrong reasons, they have dangerous aftereffects.

While Goop hasn't gotten any specific customer complaints about the vaginal egg product, Gwyneth Paltrow's company has gotten themselves in hot water before for other products on their line-up. There are multiple examples to provide, but the main takeaway is that Goop's recommended products aren't always described 100 percent accurately. It's also worth noting that some items they sell claimed to help with depression, cancer, infertility and insomnia, to name only a handful of examples. Ultimately, this is not a great look for Goop. And we have to assume they'll be more careful about how they market products.

Furthermore, Goop wants to get on the good side of its customers. The health and wellness company will provide refunds to any customers who bought this product, as well as the "Inner Judge Flower Essence Blend," between the first eight months of 2017. Customers who bought these products and were unsatisfied with their results should either write an email to customerservice@goop.com or call 1-844-WTF-GOOP. And BTW, that phone number isn't a goof on our end. That is the real phone number to call to get in contact with the company. Look, we don't make the rules here. Talk to them. Literally.

Kimmel seemed to have a strong knowledge of the brand and its products and services for people interested in alternative approaches to wellness. The bulk of Goop's offerings seems vanilla enough--city maps, healthy recipes, parenting advice, and so on. Well, maybe they're not vanilla. They're, like, 100%-pure vanilla with a granola topping you can eat to detox. But when things get a little weird on the website, Paltrow admitted to Kimmel that she doesn't always know what's going on. The 44-year-old movie star and entrepreneur said,

Goop plugs some oddball selections from time to time, and Kimmel was sure to mention a few in the interview. Paltrow began the interview explaining she spends regular working hours in the Goop offices each week, but then she noted that she doesn't always have a finger on the pulse of her own company's products and services. For instance, the activity to which Gwyneth Paltrow was referring above is called "earthing." As Paltrow talked to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! audience about earthing, she did seem to be aware it was a somewhat zany topic for mainstream viewers. But she often does, and she probably knows what people think about her alternative lifestyle ideas, which some people call pseudoscience. In fact, Gwyneth Paltrow indicated as much when she recently got candid in an interview about her divorce--her "conscious uncoupling"--from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. In that interview, the Iron Man actress intimated she knows some people call her ideas unusual, but she sometimes sees her ideas catch on after some time even when people initially call them strange.

Sure, Gwyneth Paltrow gets a bad rap for saying pretentious things sometimes. Paltrow also gave her kids ultramodern celebrity baby names: Apple and Moses. Her company promotes quirky products, such as jade eggs, which are polished nephrite jade eggs women use to tone their pelvic floor (as Paltrow explained during the interview with Jimmy Kimmel). Still, something about the way she explains it with a knowing shrug of indifference makes it endearing. It's as if she's saying she knows her brand is not for everyone, but she's having fun anyway. Now Gwyneth seems to have done it again, this time on her website goop.com.

A story was recently published on Gwyneth Paltrow’s website goop, which is about “not-so-basic sex toys”. While this seems like a normal and relatable article for a celebrity of her nature to have a hand in, things quickly take a turn for the crazy. In this story, they list a Lelo Inez 24 karat dildo made of gold, which costs an insane $15,000. You read that right, Gwyn recommends using a solid gold dildo. 

This is pretty bananas for a couple of reasons. To start, goop isn’t a lifestyle website which is only targeted toward people of Gwyneth Paltrow’s privilege. There simply aren’t enough rich people to make a website of its size successful. So the folks over at goop compiled their list of sex toys, and still thought that a solid gold dildo was a reasonable item to include, and was somehow a possibility for their readers. 

Speaking logistically, a gold dildo seems like a bit of a nightmare. Sex toys need to be kept extremely clean at all times. The use of less than pristine sex toys can cause bacteria to grow and, if you use them with a partner, could even result in the spread of disease. This is why so many sex toys and dildos are made with dishwasher safe materials; it makes it easy to keep your toys clean and safe. 

You can’t exactly stick your gold dildo in the dishwasher. And keeping a gold dildo clean is presumably no easy task. While you can use a barrier device like condoms in order to help keep it clean for longer, you’re going to have to wash it eventually. And because they’re solid gold, you’re probably going to have to clean them by hand.

Additionally, the Lelo Inez 24 karat dildo doesn’t necessarily seem like the most comfortable or pleasurable sex toy, especially for female bodied consumers. Female goop readers who happen to have $15k to spare for a gold dildo may be disappointed to see that it is missing a popular aspect: a clitoral stimulator. Not only is the dildo way too expensive, but it isn’t even the best dildo around.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s recommendation of a golden dildo is just the latest in a long line of comments which have separated her from us common folk. Although it may just be a case of Gwyneth often putting her foot in her mouth, or not being the best media-trained star in the sky. 

But if you’re able to spend $15k on a golden sex toy (or maybe that highly advanced sex robot that's reportedly in the works), you probably don’t have to worry about stuff like that.
