I’ll be honest, its been a while since I've thought about Grimm, the supernatural series that ran on NBC for six seasons. The show followed a Portland, Oregon police detective who had the power to see monsters living among us. Ultimately, Grimm was cancelled in 2016 and, while I haven’t thought about it in a while, I enjoyed the series when I watched it. So I was happy to hear that a reboot of the series is in development. However, a new comment from one of the OG cast members has me even more curious.

Bitsie Tulloch played Juliette Silverton -- the girlfriend of the series’ main character, David Burkhardt (played by David Giuntoli). This was years she would go on to portray Lois Lane in the Arrowverse. Tulloch posted to Instagram after the news that a new Grimm movie was in development for Peacock. Interestingly, while most of the outlets reported on the film calling it a reboot, Tulloch used a different word, which indicates a potentially different sort of project. The actress posted…

To be fair, the word reboot has been overused to the point that it has barely any meaning at all anymore. It’s used as a general catch-all to cover any sort of IP that has been seen as “over” that is now coming back. However, in general, it’s used to reference a new take on a property that isn’t connected to what came before, at least not directly. It might be set in the same world with new characters, or it could just take the same premise and tell a entirely new story.

However, “spinoff” means something quite different. It implies a direct connection to the story that came before. Spinoffs of other TV series are usually set concurrent to the events of the main show, but they could also function as sequels, making secondary characters of the original series the main character of something new.

Fans could expect some of the regular characters from the original series to appear in the new movie if it’s a spinoff. That would be less necessary if the film is designed to be a reboot, even if the new movie is set in a world where the events of the original series took place.

As it so happens, a Grimm spinoff was considered at NBC a few years ago. David Giuntoli gave it his blessing, but it ended up not going anywhere. It's unclear if that idea, which involved on a new female Grimm, has any bearing on this new concept.

Meanwhile, Bitsie Tulloch has never strayed too far from the Grimm fandom more recently. In fact, a couple years back, she co-hosted a Grimm rewatch podcast with two other cast members. With Tulloch responding to the news and calling it a spinoff, we may be able to surmise that she knows at least something about what’s going on with this new movie. If she is involved, then the movie certainly could be more of a spinoff than reboot.

I’m not necessarily rooting for one idea over the other. More Grimm, in whatever form it takes, has a lot of potential, so I’m excited for this idea, whatever it ends up actually being. And, now that I am thinking about this underrated show again, I'm going to go use my Peacock subscription to rewatch it.

So, you miss Supernatural – here are some shows you must check out. 

I was once like you – stuck in my never-ending sadness that the show I once called my Roman Empire had ended; my love, my life, my Supernatural brothers, Dean and Sam, who I followed for almost way too many of my teenage and young adult years. But then 2020 came around, and one of the best CW shows ended, which also ended me. 

Okay, now that I'm not being so dramatic, Supernatural ended after fifteen seasons in 2020, ending the story of the Winchester brothers and their paranormal and deadly interactions with the unknown and beyond. If you've been missing shows that have a similar vibe, or have monsters, or are just witchy in general, we have you covered. Here are some great shows like Supernatural. 

The Winchesters (2022 – 2023)

Starring Drake Rodger and Meg Donnelly (Jensen Ackles guests as the narrator), The Winchesters is a prequel series to Supernatural, telling the story behind John Winchester and how he met his wife, Mary Campbell, and their time hunting monsters together. 

Look, The Winchesters isn't perfect. It goes against much of what the original show made canon, and the practical effects can sometimes be a little goofy. But it's the same universe and tone, and there's a lot to love in the few episodes it has if you're looking for more lore for the show. There's only one season (The Winchesters was cancelled), so you might as well check it out.

The X-Files (1993 – 2018)

The sci-fi drama, The X-Files, stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. It tells the story of two FBI agents who look into "X-Files," cases that involve the unknown, all while discovering conspiracies that change their lives forever. 

The X-Files is one of the most successful shows ever, running for several seasons, spawning movies, and more. Mulder and Scully are the way to go if you're looking for an iconic partnership with vibes similar to Sam and Dean's in their banter. There's plenty of supernatural fun to go around.

Walker (2021 – Present)

Starring Jared Padalecki, Walker is a reboot of the series Walker, Texas Ranger, and follows the story of Cordell Walker, a man trying to solve a high-profile case while also trying to heal his family at the same time. 

If you miss the Supernatural cast, Walker is great for you because Jared Padalecki (who played Sam) is the star and does a great job as the leading man. Clearly, the show has done well, because it's been renewed for a fourth season. It's a simple show compared to the others on this list, but great.

Lucifer (2016 – 2021)

Oh, Lucifer is a great one. This show is all about Lucifer Morningstar (based on the DC Comics character) and how he gets bored of running hell and decides to open a nightclub in L.A., but somehow gets pulled into working for the police department. 

If you like smooth-talking men who practically weaponize sarcasm and smirking, then Lucifer, played by Tom Ellis, is your guy. In just this one man, you will be reminded of Sam and Dean from Supernatural in every way possible. Throw that in with supernatural concepts, and it's a great show.

Grimm (2011 – 2017)

If you're looking for a police procedural series, Grimm is the one for you. It follows a homicide detective who discovers he has the power of a Grimm, a line of guardians meant to protect humans from mythical creatures. 

The premise makes Grimm sound much more dramatic than it is, but in reality, it's a great fantasy drama rooted in reality and has some funny moments that tie it all together. Every season has brand new mysteries with a compelling plot, and it's great for fans of Supernatural who want a good, complex story.

The Magicians (2015 – 2020)

Based on the novel of the same name, The Magicians was a Syfy series that told the story of students who attended a private and secret magic school. Still, as the world of sorcery begins to open up more to them, they discover there are much more dangerous foes than they were ever expecting. 

Fans of Supernatural will love the Magicians cast and how well they bounce off each other, giving outstanding performances throughout. There's still plenty more to love about this series, from the magical creatures you encounter to the spells used. There are only five seasons, so it would be a nice binge to finish the entire series.

Charmed (1998 – 2006)

I have to put Charmed on this list; it's a must. This series follows three sisters known as good witches, the Charmed Ones, whose primary goal is to protect the world from evil beings trying to take over, from warlocks and demons to other mysterious creatures, all while trying to live everyday lives. 

Charmed comes from the CW (formerly the WB), so it has many of the same vibes as Supernatural with its stories. The Charmed cast is charming (pun intended), and this show lasted for eight seasons, so you know it was popular.

Stranger Things (2016 – Present)

Stranger Things is one of the most popular Netflix shows ever. The series initially follows a group of young boys who make it their mission to find their friend, Will Byers, who has gone missing, only for them to run into a strange little girl who changes their lives forever. 

What can I say about Stranger Things that has yet to be said? Like Supernatural, there are plenty of monsters and crazy moments for you to enjoy, but you'll end up loving the Stranger Things cast and, even more so, the heart poured into this show. It's undoubtedly one of the best shows to binge-watch on Netflix, and Stranger Things Season 5 is coming.

American Horror Story (2011 – Present)

For fans of Supernatural, I have to put American Horror Story. This series, created by Ryan Murphy, follows a new gruesome horror tale each season, from the ghosts that haunt an old house to witches who reside in New Orleans. 

If you like Supernatural, you'll most likely enjoy AHS for the monsters, modern setting (in most seasons), and the crazy amount of American Horror Story cast members. It's undoubtedly a great pick, and with each season having a different story, there's always something new to enjoy.

Wynonna Earp (2016 – 2021)

Last but not least, we have Wynonna Earp. Based on the comic of the same name, Wynonna Earp follows a young woman who inherits the power to return revenants, which are reincarnated outlaws that her great-great-grandfather killed, to the afterworld. She returns to her hometown to do so, running into trouble as she does. 

For fans of Supernatural, you'll love Wynonna Earp as a character. She's badass and funny and somehow takes down every conflict she runs into without losing who she is. There's a lot to love about the side characters, who somehow win you over as much as Wynonna does.

These are just some of the great options available for fans of Supernatural, and now I feel the need to binge-watch Stranger Things to prepare for Season 5 – and maybe to get over missing Sam and Dean. 

Superman & Lois finally has a premiere date for the third season coming to The CW, as one of the last superhero series standing and the better part of a year since the Season 2 finale with its big Arrowverse reveal. While Elizabeth Tulloch has been absent from the small screen as Lois Lane since June, the actress has been connecting with fans via a Grimm rewatch podcast that she co-hosts along with fellow former stars Claire Coffee and Bree Turner. Tulloch shared how her experience on Superman & Lois so far compared to her Grimm experience. 

While Superman & Lois still has a full third season on the way, Grimm finished its six-season run back in 2017. Despite moving on to a new series regular role, Elizabeth Tulloch (who married Grimm leading man and current A Million Little Things star David Giuntoli) reflected on her time in Portland, Oregon as Juliette/Eve with her Grimm costars on their podcast, and how it compares to where she is now. When she spoke with CinemaBlend about The Grimmcast in the fall, the actress shared: 

When we spoke, Elizabeth Tulloch was back working on the third season of Superman & Lois, even though the show was still months away from its March 2023 premiere. Although she technically debuted in the Arrowverse as Lois Lane (after some hesitation) alongside Tyler Hoechlin as Superman back in 2018 as part of the Elseworlds crossover event, their separate show didn’t premiere until early 2021, following the beginning of COVID. 

The pandemic protocols meant that hanging out with the Superman & Lois cast just wasn’t possible like it was in her Grimm days. Just as there are differences between Lois and Juliette, Tulloch’s TV experiences between the two shows have definitely not been the same. She went on to reflect on how the entertainment industry has changed in the years since the NBC series premiered, saying: 

Elizabeth Tulloch’s fondness for Grimm after years is apparent in The Grimmcast, which is revisiting every episode of the series while also talking about their time filming and answering questions from fans. Tulloch, Claire Coffee, and Bree Turner are well into Season 1 at this point, and the podcast has featured fellow Grimm veterans including David Giuntoli, Silas Weir Mitchell, and Danny Bruno, to name just three! 

The Grimmcast (available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and more platforms) is a great way to keep entertained between episodes of Superman & Lois, and watching along with the former stars is easy for any with an Amazon Prime subscription. All six seasons are available streaming on the platform. 

As for Superman & Lois, the superhero series returns on Tuesday, March 14 in the 2023 TV premiere schedule, ahead of the series premiere of Gotham Knights on The CW. You can also find the first two seasons streaming with an HBO Max subscription.

More than five years have passed since Grimm came to an end on NBC after six seasons and more than one hundred episodes. The conclusion of the show and the cast moving on to other projects didn’t mean the end of the fandom, however, and more people have discovered Grimm streaming since the finale in 2017. Now, the ladies of Grimm are revisiting the beloved show with a new podcast called The Grimmcast. Hosts and actresses Claire Coffee, Bree Turner, and Bitsie Tulloch have gotten together to rewatch every episode, and bring fans along for the ride. They spoke with CinemaBlend about what's on the way! 

The Grimmcast will feature Claire Coffee, Bree Turner, and Bitsie Tulloch talking about every episode of Grimm, with some special guests appearing as well. Star David Giuntoli – currently a lead on ABC's A Million Little Things and Tulloch's husband – joined the ladies to talk about the pilot for a blast to the past that fans won’t want to miss. As for why now is the right time to launch a rewatch podcast, Claire Coffee (who played Adalind) explained:

The Grimmcast gives the three former co-stars a chance to become co-hosts, and anybody who has already listened to the first two episodes knows that they’re having fun with it! The six seasons of Grimm are available streaming now with an Amazon Prime subscription, so it’s easy to understand why the fandom is still alive, well, and growing in 2022. Listeners can even interact with Claire Coffee, Bree Turner (who played Rosalee), and Bitsie Tulloch (who played Juliette and Eve) as the podcast continues.

With a grand total of 123 episodes, there is a long way to go for them as they rewatch and discuss each and every one. Claire Coffee shared that they’re “trying not to spoil too much episode by episode” so that newcomers who haven’t yet finished all six seasons can enjoy, while longtime fans will still get some references to what’s ahead that newcomers won't catch. 

Of those 123 episodes, do the actresses have certain favorites that they’re already looking forward to revisiting? Bree Turner was the first to weigh in to CinemaBlend with her pick, and it’s likely one that fans remember well. After noting that it’s “fun to think about the rare opportunities to be together in scenes” since they didn’t often work together as a whole group, Turner said:

“Blind Love” is the seventh episode of Season 6, so it’ll be a while before the trio of co-hosts revisit the shenanigans that ensued when the characters took a trip and wound up in deep trouble. The cast seemingly had a lot more fun than the characters did by the end of that particular episode, and some entertaining stories are evidently in store. In fact, Claire Coffee also named “Blind Love” as the one she’s excited to revisit:

Even if fans have some time before The Grimmcast gets to “Blind Love,” it sounds like it'll be worth the wait! Fortunately, Bitsie Tulloch (who is currently in production on the next season of Superman & Lois for The CW) has a pick that’s earlier in Grimm’s run than “Blind Love” in Season 6. She shared: 

“La Llorona” is the ninth episode of Season 2, so even though The Grimmcast won’t be covering Bitsie Tulloch's pick any time soon, it’s not too far in the future compared to Claire Coffee and Bree Turner’s selection! All things considered, the enthusiasm of the three former Grimm stars for the podcast as well as their picks for favorites proves that this is a project that fans new and old won’t want to miss.

Even if it isn’t quite October yet, it's my favorite time of the year, where I get to dress up in my warm fall sweaters, decorate my apartment with way too much orange and black, and get ready for my favorite holiday - Halloween.

While I could spend my spooky time watching  the best Halloween films or the best Friday the 13th movies, I’m trying to get into the long-haul with some horror TV shows, and luckily, Amazon Prime Video has plenty to offer. Here is what’s there. 

American Horror Story (2011 - Present)

If you’re looking for the ultimate horror TV show, look no further than American Horror Story. In this popular FX series, viewers are taken through a different story each season, all with their own horrifying twists and turns, from a simple family living in a haunted home, to witches down in New Orleans, to a summer camp in 1984, and more.

The creator, Ryan Murphy, knocked it out of the park with this scary creation. Truly, American Horror Story is so popular for a reason. Not only is the AHS cast amazing – including awesome stars Evan Peters, Finn Wittrock, and more – the stories are genuinely unsettling. It’ll send chills up your spine constantly, and make you check around in the shadows of your home after watching each episode. You should definitely check it out if you love Sarah Paulson. There are twelve seasons to watch on Prime.

Them (2021)

Next up on the list, we have Them. In this horror series, the audience follows a Black family as they move from their home in North Carolina all the way across the country to Los Angeles. But as they adjust to their new lifestyles, they start to notice that the world around them holds a lot more secrets than they ever believed, and their home isn’t quite what they thought it would be. 

Them is a great horror show. I do think there are certain moments that could be done better, but the show has some amazingly scary moments that made me jump, and the casting is out of this world. There are also some great social messages that will make you think, as well. It’s not the best series out there, but for fans of horror, I think you’ll enjoy it.

Hazbin Hotel (2024 - Present)

Okay, so while it’s technically more of a horror-comedy, I have to put this on here. Hazbin Hotel is an adult animated series that follows the princess of Hell, Charlie Morningstar, who wants to create a program for sinners to be “rehabilitated” so they have a second chance of getting into heaven, and of course, she runs into plenty of roadblocks. 

While this show wouldn’t normally be what I would consider your average horror, there are plenty of moments that feel gross and get under your skin beneath the comedy of it. It’s one of the most creative shows on television right now and has a story that’s super interesting, and the humor mixed in with the horror aspects makes it all the more enjoyable. There’s one season out, and another planned.

Panic (2021)

If you’re looking for a good teen series that’s also mixed with horror, Panic is one to see for sure. In this Amazon original, we follow the story of several teenagers who are given the chance to compete in a game of “Panic,” which has increasingly dangerous, life-risking challenges, for the chance to win a ton of money to escape their hometown. But this year, the rules begin to change, and it’s up to these young adults to figure out how to truly win. 

I will never forgive Amazon for canceling this show after only one season, because it was so good. It almost reminded me of a different version of The Hunger Games franchise, but with less dystopia-vibes and a lot more scary situations. I wish it had been given the chance to expand more, but you can still check out Season 1.

Grimm (2011 - 2017)

In this horror series, Grimm follows the story of Nicholas Burkhardt, a Portland homicide detective who is the latest in a line of guardians, who are known as Grimms, sworn to keep the balance between humanity and mythological creatures.

I think what I love the most about Grimm is that it’s such a fun combination of genres. While you get your horror moments, filled with scary monsters, plenty of blood, and much more, Grimm is also a show about mysteries, since Nick is a detective and works police cases, creating a very interesting dynamic. It’s always fun to see these intense monsters in a show that still had moments from normal police procedurals.

Bates Motel (2013 - 2017)

This show is the definition of psychological horror. Starring Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore, Bates Motel is based on the novel Psycho and is considered a prequel to the film of the same name, although it takes place in modern day, and follows the story of Norman Bates and his mother before the events of the film, and how they sunk deeper into madness. 

This show is such a great one for horror fans. It’s not really gory or bloody (it has its moments for sure but it’s not that bad). But what it does do is give an excellent prequel story and dives deep into the mind of someone unstable enough to kill. The performances from both Highmore and Farmiga are top-notch and with five seasons of ten episodes each, this is the perfect horror show to binge next.

Being Human (2011 - 2014)

This supernatural drama is based on the BBC series of the same name, and is one you can’t miss. Being Human follows the story of a werewolf, a ghost, and a vampire who all live in the same house together, but of course, their lifestyles don’t necessarily collide very well, and it creates crazy circumstances. 

I will say that this version of Being Human can be a lot more dramatic than its BBC counterpart, but it’s still entertaining nonetheless, and features some fun performances from Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington. There’s three seasons available to watch on Prime, so it’ll be a quick binge.

Teen Wolf (2011 - 2017)

In this popular MTV series, Teen Wolf follows Scott McCall, a high school student who ends up becoming the titular teenage shapeshifter when he is bitten by an alpha werewolf the night before his second year of high school, changing his life forever.

While Teen Wolf isn’t what I would instantly think of as a horror series – since it’s not super bloody or anything – there are still plenty of chilling moments full of fantasy and genuine instances of terror that have it make the list. The monsters included in it can be actually pretty terrifying. The Teen Wolf cast has such great chemistry, with Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed, Dylan O’Brien, and more, and the story is filled with your typical werewolf fun, but mixed with drama and lots of great comedy, as well. It’s a treat, for sure.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (2021)

Another teen drama? Let’s go! I Know What You Did Last Summer, based on the book of the same name, follows a group of teenagers a year after a car accident they were involved in that killed someone. Now, a killer is hunting them down, one by one, saying that they know what they did last summer. 

I mean, how can you get any better than that? It’s a classic premise that has been done over and over again, like the iconic film adaptation of the same novel. However, the TV version on Amazon is still decently fun and has some pretty gory kills for fans of horror, so I think it lives up to the other adaptation well.

The Fades (2011)

Hailing from England, this is a British horror TV show that will probably terrify the heck out of you. The Fades follows a student named Paul, who is able to see spirits around him, known as “the Fades,” vengeful deceased humans who aren’t able to enter Heaven, and have found a way to become partly human again, and now he has to find a way to stop the Fades from destroying the world.

The series only has six episodes, but personally, it’s such an interesting idea that I wish it was expanded on more. There’s so much creativity in horror now and to see a series like this only have six episodes is unfortunate. However, it still tells a very compelling story, and you will be drawn into it from the moment it begins.

Truth Seekers (2020)

Let’s lighten up the room a little with some horror comedy. Truth Seekers, starring names such as Nick Kroll, Malcom McDowell, Simon Pegg and more, tells the story of regular workers who have normal jobs during the day, but become paranormal investigators at night. That job leads them to search across the United Kingdom to look for ghosts. 

It’s a very fun series and honestly very light in tone in comparison to many of the other picks on this list, and one I can whole-heartedly recommend to anyone that likes both horror and laughter. Nick Kroll is always amazing in any role he does, and truly knocks it out of the park with Truth Seekers.

Bonus: The Boys/Gen V (2019 - Present) (2023 - Present)

The Boys, as well as Gen V, take place in the same universe where being a superhero is a business, and you can’t get better than being in The Seven, where the ultimate heroes are sworn to protect. But in this world, the heroes aren’t really heroes, and it’s up to civilians and those who oppose these heroes to expose them to the world and stop their dastardly deeds. Gen V follows young superheroes as they attend a college that is based on powers, but even academia has its dark secrets. 

Okay, so technically, these shows are more of a black comedy than an actual horror, but if you’ve watched either series, you know damn well how horrifying it all is. It’s not what you would instantly consider scary – there’s no boogeyman or vengeful spirit out to get the characters. But the amount of ungodly, nasty gore that you’ll see in these shows is enough for me to put them on this list for people looking for something gory.  I have been permanently scarred because of some of their content and for that, they deserve a spot on this list. There’s four seasons of The Boys with a fifth and final coming, as well as one season of Gen V with Gen V Season 2 on the way. Both are some of the best Amazon Prime original shows.Time to check out this disgusting – but great – universe.

With Halloween not so far away Amazon Prime Video is just one of the many places you can go to watch some scary shows. With plenty of options to pick from, hopefully one can keep you satiated this fall. Meanwhile, I’m going to go and watch AHS over and over again. 

The supernatural has always been something that has intrigued viewers for some time. From monster movies to big-time sagas like Harry Potter, there always seems to be some sort of amazing fantasy world out there for people like us to escape into. That’s why when Teen Wolf, starring Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed, Dylan O'Brien, and more, debuted a decade ago, it became a major hit for MTV.

While there were plenty of supernatural shows out before Teen Wolf, the popularity the show gained caused many networks to start making their own supernatural shows, as well. From long-time fan favorites to relativey new supernatural shows, here are the best shows like Teen Wolf.

Shadowhunters (Hulu)

Shadowhunters, based on The Mortal Instruments book series, follows the story of Clary Fray, a young woman who finds out on her eighteenth birthday that she is from a long line of Shadowhunters, human-angel hybrids whose mission in life is to hunt down demons, all while she has to deal with the struggle of forbidden love.

For fans of Teen Wolf, the appeal is almost instantly obvious. Shows like this have some amazing monsters to watch, alongside some pretty amazing special effects and fight scenes. Plus, the love stories will remind you of other teen shows, including Teen Wolf. The series only lasted for three seasons, so if you wanted to binge Shadowhunters, you easily could.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer (Hulu)

If you want a classic supernatural series, look no further than Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Here, we follow the story of Buffy Summers, a woman who descends from a long line of “Vampire Slayers,” chosen by fate to battle against vampires, demons, and different kinds of evil. She wants to live a normal life, but slowly begins to embrace her destiny.

There’s always been this weird difference with people who think vampires are better than werewolves, but trust me when I say that even if you’re a fan of Teen Wolf, you’ll enjoy the Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast and this show. It has all of the action you would expect from a show like this, and fan favorites who will capture your heart. I mean, the show even spawned a spinoff, Angel, because the character was so popular. Give it a shot.

The Vampire Diaries (Netflix)

While Teen Wolf was on MTV, The Vampire Diaries was just as popular. In this teen drama, we begin the story with Elena Gilbert, a teenage girl who just lost both her parents in a car accident – and just so happens to end up falling in love with Stefan Salvatore, a 162-year-old vampire, who has a brother, Damon Salvatore – whom she also ends up falling for.

This show came out during the peak of the vampire craziness after Twilight, and everyone was falling in love with the idea of being with a vampire. However, that didn’t mean the show wasn’t a lot of fun. The love triangles were almost ridiculous at times, but made the show even more enjoyable, and who doesn’t love a nice set of good-looking brothers? Teen Wolf has always been one of my go-tos, but The Vampire Diaries doesn’t fall far behind.

Supernatural (Netflix)

While Stefan and Damon Salvatore are a pretty cool set of brothers, my absolute favorite pair are the Winchester brothers, Dean and Sam. In Supernatural, we follow the pair as they hunt down several different kinds of monsters, including demons, ghosts, and other supernatural beings, all while dealing with their own issues.

The show had 15 seasons because there was so much story to cover. If you love Teen Wolf, there’s no doubt in my mind that you will enjoy the heck out of Supernatural. From the brotherly love between Dean and Sam to the monsters they hunt down (which also include werewolves, by the way), it’s a whole lot of fun. By the end of the show, you’ll find yourself singing “Carry On Wayward Son” in your mind every day.

Being Human (AMC+)

Ever wonder what it would be like to be a supernatural being and have roommates? Because that’s what Being Human covers. In this series based on the BBC show of the same name, we get to follow the tales of a werewolf, a vampire, and a ghost living together, all in the same house as roommates.

Let me just say that this show is hysterical. If you’re a fan of the humor in Teen Wolf, there is no way you won’t enjoy the heck out of Being Human, and its surprising dark yet pleasing comedy. Not only that, but you get some amazing monsters added in as well, alongside plotlines you would never expect. We’ve had plenty of shows about roommates, with hits like Friends and New Girl, but Being Human gave a refreshing twist to the genre that I think we could all use.

Hemlock Grove (Netflix)

Now, if you’re looking for something a little bit darker after watching a show like Teen Wolf, be sure to check out Hemlock Grove. In this series, we get to see the strange happenings that are occurring in the fictional town of Hemlock Grove, Pennsylvania. The community has experienced recent murders, and brutal ones at that, stirring up rumors. A townie and a newcomer end up working together to try and shed light on the mystery – while having their own secrets.

Is it as monster-filled as the rest? No, but honestly, sometimes you don’t need crazy monsters like Teen Wolf. Sometimes, all you need is a good mystery, some dark moments, and a great story to get you going. Even with only three seasons, it’s still one of Netflix’s best shows out there right now.

Grimm (Amazon Prime)

In this popular police drama, we get to see what it would be like to basically be a monster cop. In Grimm, we follow Nicholas Burkhardt, a Portland homicide detective who is a Grimm, the latest in a line of guardians sworn to protect humanity against mythological creatures, and keep the balance needed for the universe to stay intact.

With six seasons, there’s plenty to love about Grimm that Teen Wolf fans would enjoy. You get a ton of monsters, but you also get an awesome cop show. I mean, a cop hunting down monsters in the city of Portland? It already sounds interesting enough. It’s, honestly, a great time no matter what part of the supernatural genre you enjoy, and you’ll find something or someone to root for in every episode.

The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina (Netflix)

I still think it’s a crime that this show only got four seasons. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was a dark twist on Sabrina: The Teenage Witch, where on her sixteenth birthday, she must sign her soul away to the devil to be able to practice her witchcraft and leave the mortal world behind. But, of course, the young girl doesn’t want to do that and tries to live both lives – putting herself and her loved ones at risk.

This show was so good. While the original Sabrina: The Teenage Witch was a great sitcom, there’s just something about this dark version that makes me smile, and that's why it would be a great pick for Teen Wolf fans. It has that perfect combination of magic, love, and dark comedy. I think that if Chilling Adventures of Sabrina wasn’t on Netflix, it could have ended up on MTV.

The Order (Netflix)

Moving into another great magic show, The Order followed college student Jack Morton as he enrolled in the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, a secret society that teaches magic. As he starts to learn more about who he is and his family’s lives, he begins to understand the dark secrets of the past, and an underground battle occurring between werewolves and the dark arts.

I mean, how does that not sound appealing to Teen Wolf fans? That has everything you could possibly ask for. Sorcery? Check. Werewolves? Check. Great story? Check. Fun practical and visual effects? Check. All of the boxes are crossed off here. My only complaint is that it was two seasons. Why does Netflix always want to cancel the good originals?

Lucifer (Netflix)

As our last item, we take a look into what it would be like if Lucifer – ya know, the devil himself – decided to step into the human world. In Lucifer, we get to know the story of the titular character, who ends up abandoning his throne in Hell to own a nightclub named Lux and consult for the LAPD.

The premise alone probably already has you scratching your head. The devil owning a nightclub and working for the police? But, those are the questions that this show wants you to have, and they answer them very well. What also makes this show so intriguing, like Teen Wolf, is the development of certain characters, especially Lucifer. Who would have thought the king of the damned would have a heart? Because that’s exactly what Lucifer explores. The upcoming sixth season will be its last, but the show has had an amazing run.

All these Netflix TV shows and other series – there’s just so much to watch now! But, hopefully, if you’re missing Teen Wolf after all this time, you might be able to find a nice replacement. Now, I’m going to go and re-watch Supernatural for the millionth time.

This past December, Netflix found another hit on their hands with their latest expansive, high-concept streaming series, The Witcher. The mature fantasy show, based on the book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, has already been renewed for a second season. Of course, given all the expensive sets, high-profile actors, and heavy special effects involved in the show's creation, it might take a minute before we return to The Continent. Therefore, TV lovers will need a few other TV shows to keep them occupied in the meantime. If you're looking for recommendations, we're here to help! While we listed a few shows available on Netflix worth seeking in a previous article, here are 10 other shows available on Netflix or another streaming platform that you might also enjoy if you really loved watching The Witcher.

(Obviously) Game Of Thrones (HBO Go)

Let's get this one out of the way, shall we? By now, especially if you're a fan of The Witcher, you have probably made a point to watch HBO's heavily-seen (and sometimes contentious) Game of Thrones. The groundbreaking fantasy series, based on the book series of the same name by George R.R. Martin, has played a big role in bringing shows like The Witcher into the forum and allowing other television providers with deep pockets to experiment with their own adult-focused fantasy TV shows. 

It's a clear bid to play at their game, no pun intended. But when you get shows like The Witcher, there's no sense complaining. With a cast that includes Sean Bean, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams and many more, this record-breaking television event was a true cultural phenomena at its peak. And it's safe to note that Netflix hopes The Witcher achieves a similarly high-level of cultural adoration someday. Whether that happens or not, you can watch Game of Thrones in full on HBO.

Carnival Row (Amazon Prime)

A steampunk fantasy series based on the screenplay A Killing on Carnival Row by co-creator Travis Beacham, Carnival Row had a bit of a turbulent transition to the screen, notably with Guillermo Del Toro entering and exiting the project throughout its creation. Nevertheless, this Amazon Prime series gives fantasy lovers and noir fans alike an original, exciting new show to watch and hopefully love. 

Centered around tensions growing between citizens and immigrants in a world filled with mystical creatures, along with a central murder mystery and other social ills causing troubles in this fractured society, Carnival Row is most certainly a timely and intriguing series, and it stars Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne as our lead characters. For viewers who like their fantasy series to have some of the grounded maturity seen throughout The Witcher, you'll find a lot to value in Carnival Row. All eight episodes of Season 1 are available exclusively on Amazon Prime. Additionally, the ambitious show has also been renewed for a second season.

Vikings (Hulu)

Inspired by the sagas of Viking Ragnar Lothbrok, who is considered one of the most legendary Norse heroes in history, the History Channel's Vikings is the rare crossbreed of entertaining and informative. The action-adventure drama television program tells the exploits of these early Norse Vikings in an educational-yet-thrilling way. Therefore, it comes as little surprise that Vikings has steadily amassed a fine following throughout the years. The sixth and final season of the show aired its premiere back in December, but Netflix has already ordered a sequel series, Vikings: Valhalla, which you can expect to see sometime in the near future. For now, you can watch the first five seasons of Vikings on Hulu while the History Channel soon airs the final episodes of Season 6.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix)

A prequel series to the beloved 1982 Jim Henson movie, The Dark Crystal, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is a beautifully-crafted 10-part fantasy series created in partnership with Netflix and the Jim Henson Company, and it has won over fans of the original movie and newcomers alike through its gorgeously-made and elaborately-produced puppet fantasy spectacle. While it's easily one of the most critically-acclaimed shows found on this list, it's not yet clear if (or when) it'll get a second season. Nevertheless, if you're a fantasy lover and you want a show with fantastic production design, strong world building, immaculate puppeteering, and lots of other talented people working to create a beautifully comprehensive vision, you should be sure to check out this show. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is now available on Netflix. Hopefully, we'll hear an update on Season 2 soon.

The Mandalorian (Disney Plus)

The first live-action series in the Star Wars universe, The Mandalorian was seen as a big selling point for Disney+, as well as a chance for the Star Wars universe to expand beyond its cinematic contributions. Thankfully, for many folks, the streaming series proved to be a roaring success. Created by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, 2016's The Jungle Book), and starring Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers, Werner Herzog, Gina Carano, and meme-friendly "The Child," i.e. Baby Yoda, as itself, the show takes place several years after the events of Return of the Jedi and follows a bounty hunter during his exploits in the New Republic. Admittedly, if there is one show on here that you've already seen (besides Game of Thrones, of course), it's probably this one. Still, if you haven't had a chance to check out the brand new Star Wars streaming series, all eight episodes of its first season are now available on Disney+.

Grimm (Amazon Prime)

A cop procedural drama with a fantastical twist, Grimm is a detective series centered around a gumshoe who discovers that he is a Grimm, and the latest in a line of guardians meant to keep the balance between mythical creatures, known as Wesen, and humanity. Balancing both dark and whimsical elements together, in typical Grimm fashion, this former NBC series ran for six seasons before it met its end in 2017. But if you enjoyed The Witcher's blend of genres, including bleaker components, you'll find something to enjoy here. All six seasons of Grimm are available on Amazon Prime.

Into the Badlands (Netflix)

An action-adventure wuxia series, Into the Badlands never quite captured the same intense viewership as some of its fellow AMC standouts, including Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and The Walking Dead, but it did grow a cult following — especially among martial arts fans — for its well-choreographed action scenes as well as its expansive storytelling. Starring Daniel Wu, Orla Brady, Sarah Bolger, Aramis Knight, Nick Frost, and more, if you like big, epic action sequences and lore-filled storytelling, you should give Into the Badlands a chance. All three seasons are currently available on Netflix.

Britannia (Amazon Prime)

A nine-part historical fantasy series, serving as a co-production between Sky and Amazon Prime Video, Britannia follows the Roman conquest of Britain and a mysterious land that's ruled by both warrior women and powerful druids who can channel forces unknown from the underworld. Created by playwright Jez Butterworth and starring Kelly Reilly, David Morrissey, Mackenzie Crook, Zoe Wanamaker, and more, Britannia is the sort of fantasy drama series that should play well to The Witcher fans. Additionally, with only nine episodes in total, it's not a heavy commitment in the least. Suffice to say, if you're looking for something to keep you occupied before Witcher's new season, this should do the trick. Watch it in full now on Amazon Prime.

Altered Carbon (Netflix)

A futuristic cyberpunk action-adventure drama based on the novel of the same name by Richard K. Morgan, Altered Carbon is an ambitious, expensive high-concept series from Netflix, much like The Witcher. Certainly, if you liked the expansive world-building of The Witcher, you'll appreciate the time, effort and skill put into this elaborately-crafted dystopia. Centered around the character of Takeshi Kovacs, played by Joel Kinnaman in the first season and Anthony Mackie in the recently-unveiled second season, Altered Carbon explores a world several hundred years into the future where the human consciousness can be transferred into different bodies. If you like the high-minded ambition of The Witcher, check out Altered Carbon on Netflix.

Atlantis (Hulu)

A British fantasy-drama inspired by Greek mythology, Atlantis was a big hit overseas but it didn't quite capture that same enthusiasm in the U.S. But with all 25 episodes available to stream on Hulu, this is your chance to catch up. Starring Jack Donnelly and Game of Thrones' Mark Addy as Hercules (what casting!), Atlantis only lasted two seasons (i.e. series) on the BBC, but you should have ample time to catch up with this fantasy-drama series before The Witcher returns with its second season.

These are only a handful of the fantasy series out there, available for your viewing pleasure, as you wait for the newest season of The Witcher. It might take a little while, as we noted before, so that should hopefully give you a lot of time to check out at least a few of these streaming-ready shows before the Netflix favorite returns. But these are only our recommendations, and we're sure you have a few shows that you know about too. With all the reboots, remakes and re-imaginings of former TV hits being developed for new audiences, some of the stars of those original shows are speaking out about the new versions, and what they have to say isn't always great. Now, Grimm star David Giuntoli has given his thoughts on the proposed spinoff of his show, and you might be surprised by what he had to say.

Wow, isn't that nice to hear? Instead of being even remotely salty about the prospect of the Grimm mythology going ahead without him, David Giuntoli seems genuinely happy to know that the world he helped create on screen for six seasons might get a chance to continue.

Grimm focused on Giuntoli's Portland police detective Nick Burkhardt, who discovers that he's the latest in a long line of guardians, known as Grimms, who are charged with keeping the peace between humanity and the mythological creatures known as Wesen. These magical, part human /part animal beings can be quite dangerous to humanity, and with Nick's ability to spot the supernatural where no one else can, he and his friends are often the last hope for keeping locals safe from a wide variety of things that go bump in the night.

The spinoff, which, as David Giuntoli mentioned in his words to TV Guide, is being worked on by NBC, is currently being considered for the 2019-2020 television season, and would star a female protagonist this time around. Luckily, for fans of Grimm, another reported goal of the spinoff would be to have appearances from cast members of the original series, either on a regular or recurring basis. This means that the show likely won't take place too far in the future from Grimm's spring 2017 finale, or too far away from the setting of the first show.

While no title, cast or confirmed pickup for next season has been set for the Grimm spinoff just yet, it's pretty clear from what David Giuntoli said that he's feeling a little left out of the fun this time around. But, not to worry, he's willing to make time for the new supernatural show should they come calling with an opportunity for Nick to take up monster hunting again. According to Giuntoli, who currently stars on the ABC drama A Million Little Things, he does have one condition, though:

And, there you go. If the Grimm spinoff gets picked up by NBC, at least those behind the show will already know what, exactly, they can do with David Giuntoli's Nick should they decide to bring the character back into the fold. It's good to hear that Giuntoli is such a good sport about the possibility of showing up on the spinoff, as fans would certainly love to see him and his character again.

We don't know right now if the Grimm spinoff will hit the air in the future, but stay tuned to CinemaBlend for the latest updates on the proposed series. Reboots and revivals are currently all the rage on television, as are spinoffs. You can now add NBC's long-running series Grimm to the list in the lastly mentioned category. With six seasons under its belt, the original series completed its run in Spring 2017. While audiences miss the show, NBC apparently does as well. Over a year after it ended, the Peacock Network is in the early stages of developing a Grimm spinoff, and the lead won't be just another one of the boys.

That is not the only good news Grimm fans! The spinoff is hoping to include returning fan favorites from the original series. Who exactly will end up returning is still unknown at this juncture. The original leads are currently busy with new projects. David Giuntoli, who played Nick, is starring in ABC's A Million Little Things. His co-star Russell Hornsby, who played Hank, is also starring in a freshman series. Hornsby is on Fox's upcoming drama, Proven Innocent.

If either or both of those series doesn't last, perhaps the actors could become available. While its leads are potentially off the table at this point, NBC is looking to have original series cast members in the cast, whether regular or recurring. At this time, no actors are attached to the spinoff yet. The goal is to include both new and returning characters on the show. So, this is in no way a revival of the original, as you may have guessed.

In a departure from the original series, Deadline says that they are hearing the spinoff will center on a female lead. Iron Fist's Melissa Glenn will pen the show. With the spinoff wanting to bring back characters from the original, we can guess that the spinoff will probably not take place that far into the future from Grimm's finale. Or at least one would think not.

Since the show is in the early stages of development, a premiere date has not been set. Should the spinoff get picked up, there is a potentially safe bet as to where NBC could put it. That would be Fridays. The original series found tremendous success airing that night.

Given Grimm's history in the timeslot, it would make sense to put the spinoff there as well. It would also set the spinoff up to be a robust companion to the supernatural drama Midnight, Texas. That series is getting ready to embark on its second season. Should it make it to a third, Midnight, Texas and the Grimm spinoff could make Fridays quite supernatural for NBC.

The idea to build off the foundation of the original series should serve the spinoff well. Grimm grew a devoted following during its six-season run. So, the chance to see some of the characters they love back in action would be huge for them. In the meantime, NBC will have tons of fall premieres to keep you busy.

Former Grimm star David Giuntoli might be headed back to network television, except this time, he'd be at ABC. Giuntoli has been cast as one of the leads in a pilot for a potential ensemble drama called A Million Little Things. Giuntoli joins the drama in the role of Eddie, who is a music teacher/stay-at-home dad in a concept that sounds somewhat similar to NBC's This Is Us.

While ABC might welcome that comparison, A Million Little Things would prefer to be compared to the 80s film The Big Chill. The potential drama series centers on a group of friends intertwined in each other's lives who all realize they need to start living more when one of them dies unexpectedly. As mentioned, David Giuntoli will co-star as Eddie, a music teacher who loves being a stay-at-home-dad and is in a failing marriage. Following his friend's death, Eddie begins to wonder what his life would be like had he made different decisions, which will lead him to think back on his time as the frontman of a local band.

A Million Little Things hails from creator DJ Nash, who was also responsible for the short-lived NBC series Growing Up Fisher. Nash described the project as a drama that has elements of comedy, which indicates that this show will lean heavier on the drama than comedy. David Giuntoli is just one of the cast of eight friends, which will include four men and four women total. The project is somewhat personal for Nash; he stated back when the series was first ordered that the project is loosely based on his experience after the death of a friend.

David Giuntoli's casting is a strong way to start off the sizable ensemble lineup for A Million Little Things. The actor has been a hot commodity for new projects since the ending of Grimm. Although the actor was attached to a CBS pilot last year titled Misson Control that had a shot at becoming a series, the project did not become a series. Deadline reports that Giuntoli's been sought out by other networks for projects this pilot season, but ultimately landed at ABC. It sounds like a good fit for the actor given the series' serious This Is Us vibes, which will only mean great things for ABC should it go to series and find an audience. Giuntoli's casting is also great news for Grimm fans, who have been eagerly awaiting news on Giuntoli's next big move since the series was cancelled.

A Million Little Things is currently in pilot status at ABC, so no release date or series order has been announced at this time. For a list of shows set for release in 2018, head on over to our midseason premiere guide and see what's happening there.

There used to be a lull at the movie theater's in February which often meant there were a few months with lean pickings in terms of DVD and Digital releases, too. Beauty And The Beast Blu-ray Review

Disney's Blu-ray releases have always had a little sparkle and spoonfuls of extra touches, as the home entertainment teams have tried different sorts of features, and the big Blu-ray release for the live-action Beauty and the Beast is no different. The biggest and best bunch of extras are the deleted scenes, which include LeFou (Josh Gad) getting torched and also come with fascinating intros from director Bill Condon. A slew of other bonus features are also available, and I personally like some of the set stuff describing how the famous yellow Beauty and the Beast dress was recreated and more. But, who are we kidding? If you are buying a copy of Disney's Beauty and The Beast, you are probably buying it for the lovely way Emma Watson and Dan Stevens interacted as Belle and the Beast, for the wonderful musical renditions and dancing moments the movie includes, and for the general magic the film brought to the big screen and now into our homes. The Lego Batman Movie Blu-ray Review

The follow up to 2014's The Lego Movie, The Lego Batman Movie has all of the charm of our little yellow bricked characters, plus a slew of DC references to boot. If you are a fan of any or all other Batman franchises out there, you should find something to love in the latest flick from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, and so should your kids. The Chris McKay directed flick follows Batma (Will Arnett) as he protects Gotham city against the Joker (Zach Galifianakis) and other bad guys, all while learning the meaning of family and letting new people like Robin (Michael Cera) and Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson) into his life. A slew of cool deleted scenes--including an awesome one where Clayface uses his abilities to tunnel his way into a high security area. We've seen a few space-oriented movies come out this year. One of them was Life, the Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds starrer that had some pretty intense trailers before it was finally released into theaters back in March. The movie has had a fairly quick turnaround onto Blu-ray, and now you can catch Daniel Espinosa's flick from the comfort of your own home. If you caught the science fiction horror flick at the theater, you might remember the movie featuring a pretty cold and bleak color palate, which sort of keeps it tied to Life's rather bleak plot. On a home TV, this color palate is still pretty dark, but mostly works within the context of the film. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's set is pretty nice, too, coming with both a Blu-ray and Digital copy and a few bells and whistles. The extra "Life: In Zero G" was kind of fun, if you are into how they shoot space movies. Other extras included astronaut diaries and about six deleted scenes, but they don't add a ton in terms of runtime. Life's overal worth a watch, but unless you really loved the movie, this one may be better for a rental.

The latest Power Rangers movie was definitely a reboot for the new generation, but it does feature a few fun nods for fans of the original TV franchise. And in a week of remakes and sequels, this is certainly the most fun buy. From the introduction to new Power Rangers (played by Dacre Montgomery, Becky G., Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler and Ludi Lin), to cool costumes and an over-the-top villain Rita Repulsa (played by Elizabeth Banks), Power Rangers does have a lot to offer. And if a second movie does eventually get off of the ground, we hope it will expand on a lot of the stuff we are introduced to in the original flick---although it's looking like a big if right now. The movie isn't as lighthearted as earlier takes on the franchise, but it's not as goofy, either, and you can give it a watch with Lionsgate Home Entertainment's brand new set, which also comes in 4K if you have the capacity. There's a whole documentary if you purchase the Blu-ray or 4K release that's kind of fun, not to mention audio commentary and deleted scenes, which also come standard with the DVD. CHiPs Blu-ray Release

Although I can appreciate a team-up between Dax Shepard and Michael Pena and I definitely give judos to Kirsten Bell for stopping breastfeeding in order to help her cleavage situation in CHiPs, overall, this remake of the eighties TV series of the same name doesn't totally live up to its hype. The plot, which involves Shepard's Jon Baker and Pena's Ponch Poncherello teaming up to take on some corrupt cops is serviceable enough. Baker's a rookie cop and Ponch is an undercover FBI officer. Shenanigans ensue. Some people really seem to have liked this movie, and if you are one of those people, Warner Bros. makes the most of the release here by including 10 "outrageous" deleted scenes and some behind-the scenes info talking about why this remake even happened. There's also info on the Ducati, for the automobile lovers who also loved CHiPs. You can order a copy of the flick here.

The very last episode of NBC's Grimm has finally aired, and an era has officially come to an end. There was no show quite like Grimm anywhere else on television, and fans could always count on something creepy and confounding to kick off their weekends. Fridays simply won't be the same moving forward. Luckily, we got one hell of a finale to remember the series by, and it managed to bring the entire show full circle at the very end. The good guys found the way to defeat Zerstörer... and it had everything to do with Grimm blood.

Driven mad by grief at the deaths of his loved ones, Nick was on the verge of giving up the stick to Zerstörer in exchange for some handy dandy resurrections. He'd already seen Trubel killed and brought back to life, which was proof enough that Zerstörer would keep his end of the bargain and bring his pals back to life if he surrendered the stick and enabled Zerstörer to complete his staff.

Despite Trubel's valiant (and violent) attempts to stop Nick by grabbing the stick and racing away through the woods, Nick reclaimed the stick and headed back to Zerstörer, fully intending to trade it for the lives of those he loved. Unfortunately for Nick and his terrible plan, he ran into some unexpected and very familiar faces in the woods who changed his mind. Yes, Nick met up with the spirits of his mom and his Aunt Marie, who told him that what he needed to do for himself was not what needed to be done for the sake of the world. Their family is descended from the original Grimms, and it's been their job for hundreds of years to stop creatures like Zerstörer.

So, with the shades of his mom and Aunt Marie at his side, Nick marched back to Zerstörer to make a stand for humanity. No stick for Zerstörer! Even Trubel recovered enough from Nick's beatdown to join the other three Grimms in the last stand against Zerstörer. Together, the four used all their abilities as Grimms to fight the evil with everything they had, which awesomely included Marie's knife-cane. Marie got in some slices, Trubel came in with an epic stab, Kelly chopped off Zerstörer's right arm, and Nick finally got the kill, using Zerstörer's own staff (and his stick) to stab him through the chest. Boom! Take that, Zerstörer!

Over its six seasons on NBC, Grimm introduced a sizable and varied cast of characters, but the show has always been about Nick, and it was only right that the series finale come full circle and give him and the other Grimms the ultimate win over the ultimate evil. It came down to family, and we saw the previous generation of Grimms returning from the great beyond to help Nick and Trubel. The final scene of Kelly and Diana carrying on the legacy was really the perfect way to cap off one hell of a finale.

Of course, for most of the episode, "The End" didn't feel so much like one hell of a finale as it felt like one truly hellish finale. For any who thought that the big Grimm deaths in the last couple of episodes were going to be limited to poor Hank and Wu, the quick death of Eve had to come as quite a shock, and the carnage didn't stop there. Zerstörer killed almost every single one of the good guys, including Trubel for a few moments before he brought her back to life to prove a point to Nick.

Trubel was actually my favorite part of "The End." She stuck true to her Grimm heritage and kept her eye on the prize, even as she watched friend after friend brutally murdered by a monster. Zerstörer's downfall actually came because he brought Trubel back to life. Yes, his mom and Aunt Marie helped motivate him to return to the side of good and fight Zerstörer rather than make a deal with him, but he never would have come across them in the woods if Trubel hadn't tried to run off with the stick, and all four Grimms were really needed to finish Zerstörer off. Trubel is definitely my series finale MVP.

I tend to be a fan of dark and twisted TV, but even I was pretty happy by the end to see Nick make it back to a dimension in which his loved ones - even poor Hank and Wu - were still alive. Sure, defeating Zerstörer would have technically made this last case a win for Nick. Still, would it have been a satisfying grand finale if he, a beaten up Trubel, young Diana, and baby Kelly were all who were left?

All things considered, Grimm wasn't a perfect show, and there were certain plots that I think are best forgotten, but it's been an exciting ride for fans over the past six years, and it had a fitting end. At least Grimmsters can console themselves with the fact that the series came to a pretty happy conclusion.

Warning: spoilers ahead for the penultimate episode of Grimm, "Zerstörer Shrugged."

After six seasons, NBC's Grimm is almost at an end, and it seems determined to go out with a bang. The final season has been filled with all manner of twists and turns, and "Zerstörer Shrugged" just dealt the good guys a couple of major blows as they head into their very last episode next week. Grimm star David Giuntoli has come out to tease a big way that the series finale will change things up, and it should make for a crazy hour of TV. Giuntoli had this to say about the final episode:

As if the series finale wasn't already going to be an emotional rollercoaster! Now, it's going to be a timeline rollercoaster as well? Geez. I'm glad David Giuntoli revealed that we're in for some space-time shenanigans already, because I may need a few days to prepare myself. Of course, many series finales do feature a time jump or two to show what characters are up to in the future, but it sounds like the Grimm finale will see our characters jumping around multiple times.

Hopefully there will be some fun involved in those time jumps. Grimm has always been a pretty dark show, and it got even darker than usual in "Zerstörer Shrugged" when the episode killed off none other than Hank and Wu, taken out by Zerstörer in the precinct. In case anybody somehow still doubted that the show would really pull out all the stops by the end, I'd say the deaths of Hank and Wu probably sealed the deal. The time jumps next week - and the fact that that this is Grimm - does mean that we could see Hank and Wu alive again in the finale, but it still wasn't easy to watch the guys go.

Unsurprisingly, David Giuntoli did not seem inclined to reveal in his chat with TVLine if we'd seen the last of Hank and Wu. He did, however, make a promise about how the finale would come to a close:

Whatever happens, at least it sounds like we won't be left with a cliffhanger. David Giuntoli's assurance that people will be happy does hint at a fate that isn't altogether terrible for all the characters, but Grimm being Grimm, we should probably expect some heart-wrenching twists by the end of next week's grand finale.

With NBC's Grimm quickly nearing the end of its six season run, star David Giuntoli has already found his next project. The actor has been tapped to play the male lead in a new drama from the author of The Martian, Andy Weir.

According to Deadline, David Giuntoli will be hopping over to CBS for their drama pilot Mission Control. The pilot, which will be written by Andy Weir, will follow a new generation of NASA scientists and astronauts as they try to juggle their stressful personal and professional lives while working on a major space mission, known as the Durga Mission, where there is very little room for any kind of error. Giuntoli has signed on to play astronaut and mission commander, Stevenson. He'll be joined by Without a Trace and Unforgettable alum Poppy Montgomery as mission flight director, Julie, as well as The Last Ship's Nestor Serrano as Diaz and The Fosters' Levi Fiehler as Izzy. The Martian producer Simon Kinberg will executive produce the pilot along with Weir and others.

Fans of Grimm know that David Giuntoli is used to acting in some seriously heightened situations. His character, Nick, started off as a normal Portland homicide detective, but soon realized that he was one in a long line of guardians charged with keeping balance in the world between humanity and a wide variety of, often very scary, mythological creatures. Nick has always had the ability to make fast and unbelievably correct assumptions about people's pasts and motivations, and once he realizes the true nature of the work he's supposed to do, this manifests as the ability to spot supernatural things no one else can.

Grimm may have seen Giuntoli deftly handle zauberbiests, hexenbiests, fuchsbaus and other creepy things on a regular basis, but Mission Control promises to be a more down to Earth job, even though it deals with NASA. Andy Weir managed to make The Martian a very relatable science fiction story about one man's fight for survival in a harsh landscape that he had to brave all on his own, while those that he worked with had to figure out the most effective way to help him. So, I have no doubt that Mission Control will deal with some very real issues that those working on space missions actually deal with, while giving the audience some solid interpersonal relationship drama. For instance, Poppy Montgomery is listed as the female lead of the show, and I can imagine that it's possible that Julie and Stevenson might end up in each other's orbit at some point, pun intended.

There's no word right now on when Mission Control might hit the small screen, as it hasn't been picked up to series just yet, but we'll be sure to give you more details on the potential show as they become available. It's been a new trend at the major networks over the past couple of years to avoid canceling poorly performing TV series, well at least early on in the TV season. While NCIS is renewed for quite some time, the big question related to CBS was whether or whether not The Big Bang Theory will be back next season. It's becoming more and more common for networks to cancel shows but to do it in a way that is less shocking than in previous years on TV. The best way to accomplish this is to cancel a series and then give it one more season to finish out the story. This has several positives. It means that the creative team gets the chance to finish out a series in the way they wanted and it means that fans are not blindsided when their favorite show gets cancelled. Still, it can be hard to keep track of what is ending and what is not. To help you out, we've compiled a handy list of the shows that we know--so far--are ending in 2017. Take a look. And do expect more cancellations to come down the pipeline as the TV season wears on.

Grimm, NBC

Grimm had a nice run on NBC on Friday nights. The series has really been the show that has ushered in an era of supernatural content on network TV at the end of the week, as Friday nights are now home to The Vampire Diaries and Sleepy Hollow. However, its ratings have dwindled over the years and last season NBC renewed the series for the 2016-2017 season, cancelling the drama at the same time. Give the show a watch while you still can, as its looking more and more likely NBC is going to have to blow up its Friday night lineup next year.

Bones, Fox

Unlike a lot of the shows on this list, Fox's Bones has been on the air for years and years. In fact, many fans have been on the page that the show hit its peak years ago, but Fox has still been rolling out new episodes, even after the ratings started going down. Last TV season, the show was moved to Fridays in what we thought was the final death knell. However, Fox surprised us with a renewal--albeit for a shortened season--and the last set of episodes is airing this winter. Catch the final episodes on Tuesday nights.

Bloodline, Netflix

Up until recently, Netflix was not really known for cancelling shows. Sure, Lilyhammer was axed at one point, but really most Netflix shows have been going strong and continually getting renewed, some of them for many seasons. Then Bloodline, a critically acclaimed but seemingly under-watched program, got cancelled. The good news? The series was also given one final season to wrap up its story. Expect new episodes later in 2017.

Black Sails, Starz

Another show that airs in the winter, Black Sails was the first in a string of more prominent originals to hit the schedule on Starz. While Black Sails had a big splash at Comic-Con and was noted for its larger budget, it hasn't been the ratings bringer like Power and Outlander have. Season 3 of the drama began the long journey of wrapping up the Treasure Island prequel, and it wasn't a huge shock when Starz stated the show would be ending after Season 4. Catch the final set of episodes starting in January.

Turn: Washington's Spies, AMC

AMC has a lot of well-received shows that haven't really earned high ratings. The period drama Turn is one of them. Despite sporting Jamie Bell and Angus MacFadyen and having a really cool premise about a Revolutionary War spy ring, the show has never been a big winner in total viewers. Turn is getting 10 more episodes to tell its story in 2017, but that will be the end for the series. We'll let you know as soon as the network gets the final series on the calendar.

Girls, HBO

HBO's Girls is one of the comedies that has put the network on the map in terms of original comedies, along with Veep and Silicon Valley. While new seasons of Veep and Silicon Valley are on the way, Girls will be wrapping up with a final season that is starting this weekend. The show will make us laugh and make us cringe for a few more times before it finally says sayonara on the cable network. Not too shabby for the show that figured out the line in terms of sex scenes that HBO will accept.

Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars has been a bit of a phenomenon during its run on ABC Family and the brand new Freeform. The show has an extremely avid fanbase and that has propelled it into a long run. However, Freeform has been reworking its lineup since the network changed names, and Pretty Little Liars will be ending in 2017. Catch the delicious drama while you still can.

Longmire, Netflix

Longmire possibly has my favorite trajectory of any series on this list. Originally, the show aired on A&E, where it was pretty popular. So popular, in fact, that we were all really surprised when the network opted to cancel the show. However, fans loved the show enough to petition to keep it, and Longmire is one of the rare times that has worked out. While the show is ending this season, on Netflix it was able to be a little more experimental and darker in tone with its content and the pick-up has been really great. We hope to see the show end on a high note.

Bates Motel, A&E

Bates Motel is one of A&E's first scripted originals, and it certainly survived for longer than Longmire managed to on the network. The show will be ending after Season 5 and production recently wrapped on the drama. However, Bates Motel will most definitely be going out with a bag, ending with Marian Crane and a lot of memorable moments from the original Psycho film. Tune in when the show returns on February 20.

Halt and Catch Fire, AMC

Another under-watched AMC drama, Halt and Catch Fire has followed a ragtag group of rebels as they've tried to navigate the world of business and technology in the early age of computers and the World Wide Web. AMC has a knack for deep writing and great performances and it all can be found in Halt and Catch Fire, which will sadly be ending after its fourth season. Expect new episodes to land in the schedule sometime later in 2017.

Workaholics, Comedy Central

Workaholics has always had a small niche fanbase, and the show managed to earn an impressive seven seasons with that small audience. Unfortunately, when Season 7 was announced, so was the show's cancellation. You can catch _Workaholic_s' swan song on Comedy Central right now, as the final set of episodes is airing on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET.

Orphan Black, BBC America

Tatiana Maslany has played multiple characters on BBC America's Orphan Black for four seasons, and a fifth is on its way. It's got to be exhausting to play multiple clones, and now that the girl has some awards nominations under her belt, she's really done all she can do to put the sci fi series onto the map. While not a huge ratings bringer, the show has developed an avid following over time and will really be missed. There's even a sweepstakes to appear in the final season, should that interest you.

Episodes, Showtime

Episodes is just the show that keeps on giving. I've thought the Matt LeBlanc starrer had ended a couple of times, especially as it has been off of the air since 2015. However, it has been renewed for a fifth season and we will be getting one final set of episodes sometime in 2017. (There's probably an Episodes episodes joke in there somewhere but I just can't quite reach those comedy heights, or maybe lows.) We'll let you know as soon as the show is back.

The Vampire Diaries, The CW

The CW has a track record of airing some shows well beyond their peak. In fact, if they do well at the network, they tend to keep airing for a long, long time. The Vampire Diaries has chugged along ever since Nina Dobrev left the series in 2015. At the end of the network TV season, however, TVD will be wrapping up. There is some light at the end of the tunnel. Elena will be making her comeback before then.

Switched At Birth, Freeform

Switched At Birth's trajectory has been a little confusing. By all rights, this show should have ended already, but then the cabler kept it off the schedule for some time; in fact, the last set of episodes aired in 2015. The show finally hit the schedule in January and will be wrapping up its storyline soon. It's cancellation is part of an overall push by Freeform to take its programming in a new directions. That's why ABC Family became Freeform in the first place.

The Strain, FX

There was a time when supernatural dramas were all the rage on TV and at the movies. While vampires are less of the rage these days, there are a few shows on the air that are still distinctly supernatural dramas, including FX's The Strain. The show has introduced us to the Strigoi and a rich world with lots of political nuance. The show has had plans from the start regarding where it wanted to end; however, ratings have only give The Strain one more season to catch up. Stayed tuned for reactions from CinemaBlend!

The Leftovers, HBO

Lost's Damon Lindelof gave us an HBO series that is deep and dark and emotional with The Leftovers, but that is still filled with the twists and confusion we've come to expect from a Lindelof production. For many reasons, this one didn't take off as a ratings winner, but it's a drama that's totally worth catching up on, even though you might be an emotional mess afterwards. Catch the final season this April.

If you are a Grimm fan, or at least familiar with NBC's Friday night lineup, you should know that the channel has had a consistent issue with finding a series that could pull its weight on Friday nights. Dracula showed great promise, but was cancelled; likewise, Constantine suffered a similar fate. Right now, NBC may be wishing that either of those shows were still in the lineup, as its recent Friday night addition, Emerald City, just isn't as shining as much as NBC was probably hoping.

The dark fantasy adventure series just kicked off at the beginning of the month with a double episode that did alright in the numbers, but by no means great. This week, Emerald City dropped another tenth in the 18-49 demo, bringing in a .6 rating. That's not a great number, and it's a sign that NBC might have to go in another direction for next season.

Of course, it should be noted that Grimm has been seeing dwindling numbers of people tune in on Friday nights, so its power as a great lead-in is a lot lower than it used to be. In fact, there was a time when we thought there was a good chance that Grimm would not be back this TV season, but NBC ultimately opted to give it one final season to finish out its story arc. That season also kicked off this month to similar ratings to last season, with the most recent episode earning a .8 rating, per TV By The Numbers.

With shows like The Vampire Diaries and Sleepy Hollow heading to Friday nights in recent seasons, the competition at the other networks is a little stiffer, but NBC was doubtless hoping that Emerald City could improve on its Grimm lead-in. However, this week was the third week in a row the show has dropped in the ratings. If the trend continues, it's likely the network will be forced to look elsewhere for content next TV season.

If you aren't familiar with Emerald City's trajectory, the series got off to a rocky start. Initially, NBC ordered it straight to series, but then the network backed out of the order after the channel couldn't get on the same page as co-creator Josh Friedman regarding the direction of the series. Then, last pilot season, the project was back on with a different showrunner, as David Schulner took over. Clearly, the show went in at least somewhat of different direction than the original premise, but it's hard to say if the other version would have been better.

To Emerald City's credit, the show is on-par with a few shows on other networks, including Fox's Sleepy Hollow and Rosewood. However, the likes of Shark Tank, Last Man Standing, reruns--yes reruns--of MacGyver and even NBC's own Dateline are doing better. NBC may be better off blowing its Friday nights up next season and trying something new. We'll let you know this spring when an official decision is made. Grimm has been the little show that could on Friday nights on NBC for the past five seasons. It has outlasted shows like Constantine and Dracula and will be back for a sixth and final season this winter. While news of the show's cancellation may seem sad for fans, the show's creative team isn't too upset that the series is finally saying sayonara. In fact, showrunner James Kouf recently revealed there's at least one reason he is fine with the show getting cancelled, and that reason has to do with running out of ideas. Here's what he had to say:

So far, Grimm has aired 110 episodes on NBC. Some time after the show was renewed for Season 6, we learned that the show's episode order would be cut from 22 to 13, which seemed like a pretty big tragedy at the time. It also seemed like it was an indication that Grimm might be ending, and a few short months later, NBC announced that Season 6 would, in fact, be the final season of the series. This led to Grimm getting held until midseason---a move that was confounding and somewhat annoying for fans. Regardless, getting a shorter episode order seems to have been just the ticket for showrunners James Kouf and David Greenwalt, who told TV Line they were running low on supernatural ideas for the series.

In fact, the two men said they were a little panicked when they first learned NBC had renewed them for 22 episodes this season...

Supernatural shows have been known to last longer than six seasons, of course. Supernatural is currently airing its 12th season on the CW and has really shown no signs of slowing down or losing its audience. True Blood lasted for seven seasons before calling it quits, although it aired fewer episodes than Grimm. Buffy The Vampire Slayer lasted for seven seasons and 144 episodes, making its run a little longer than Grimm's will ultimately be.

While fans may not be as excited about the show's shortened run during its final season, the good news is that Grimm knows it is ending, and that means the writers and the creative team have worked to craft a real ending to the series. Not all shows get that luxury. We've seen plenty of dramas and even comedies---here's looking at you My Name Is Earl---end on a cliffhanger before. That's not something that should be happening with Grimm. And if you like what you saw on the series, the Grimm creators already have another show in the works.

Incredibly, we've nearly gotten to the holidays and the big five networks have yet to cancel an underperforming freshman series, although episode orders for shows like Conviction and Pure Genius have been cut. Regardless, there are still quite a few shows that have already been slated to end this TV season, and if you want to know which shows you are going to have to say goodbye to, we've compiled them into this easy-to-read list.

Please note that this list excludes shows that will technically be ending next TV season. So if you're wondering where some shows you know are ending are at, like Longmire, they may not be ending until the next season rolls around. But, as usual, let us know about any we may have missed!

Grimm

Grimm was a steady Friday night series on NBC for years, airing opposite a slew of shows that were quickly cancelled, including Constantine and Dracula. However, over the last couple of seasons, the ratings for the drama faltered a bit, leading NBC to both cancel the drama and push it back to midseason. The final set of episodes will hit the schedule in 2017, starting on Friday, January 6.

Black Sails

Starz kicked off its modern programming slate with the launch of Black Sails four seasons ago. Over time, Black Sails has become one of the most exciting and best written programs on television, one that has been highly ignored by critics. The pirate-based drama will be ending after its next airing at midseason, but it will be remembered as the show that helped launch Starz into a new era of quality originals. Catch its final season starting on Sunday, January 29.

Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars has already aired the first half of its final season, which has made its cancellation a little bit confusing. If you are a fan, don't fret, there's still a half season of the Freeform drama left to air. The final set of episodes are expected to hit the schedule this coming April, and some of the episodes are coming with grave titles like "Farewell, My Lovely" and "Till Death Do Us Part." I don't anticipate this one going out on a totally happy note.

Duck Dynasty

Just a few scant years ago, Duck Dynasty was one of the highest-rated reality programs ever. It also helped put A&E on the map in terms of original programming and presumably made the network a lot of money. Recently, the whole Duck Dynasty clan announced the show will be ending after the upcoming Season 11, which will hit the schedule in early 2017.

Bones

Bones has been on the air for a long time. While there are a few shows---including the original NCIS---that have been on the air for longer, it's still prepping for Season 12, which is a long time to be on the air. While Bones was widely expected to be cancelled at the end of last season, it earned a Hail Mary pass from Fox, which is allowing the show to wrap up in a way that will hopefully give fans closure. New episodes will hit the schedule on Tuesday, January 3.

Bloodline

Netflix is relatively new to the original programming game, and the subscription streaming service has not cancelled very many shows. One exception would be Bloodline, the well-received family drama filled with mystery and murder. Bloodline will get a third season before it goes off of the air. In the past, episodes have aired in the spring, and we'll let you know as soon as Netflix gives the show a final season premiere date.

Girls

Girls has long been a polarizing series on HBO. Those who love it really love it and those who hate it are often openly scathing in their critiques. The Lena Dunham-penned drama is finally ending, much to peoples' happiness/chagrin. But not before one final set of episodes hit the schedule. You can catch Girls Season 6 when it begins airing on Sunday, February 12.

Hand of God

While Netflix has been less fond of cancelling its originals, Amazon's slate has been more of a mixed bag. There was a lot of notice surrounding the launch of a new series starring Sons of Anarchy actor Ron Perlman, but Hand of God apparently didn't pan out when the numbers were considered. The show is getting a second season, which is better than other programs like Mad Dogs have done, but it will officially be done after Season 2. Since Season 1 hit the schedule back in the fall of 2015, you would think Season 2 would have already happened, but we're still waiting on a premiere date, which is expected to be scheduled in 2017.

Bates Motel

For a while, A&E had a pretty good thing going between originals Bates Motel and Longmire, plus reality shows like Duck Dynasty. By the end of this TV season, all of those shows will have disappeared from the lineup. (Longmire was cancelled and moved to Netflix a couple of seasons ago.) Bates Motel will return for a fifth and final season in 2017, thanks to getting a two-season renewal a couple of years ago, but it will be ending after that. If other seasons are any indication, it's likely we'll see the show hit the schedule sometime in March.

The Vampire Diaries

I honestly thought The Vampire Diaries would end after Nina Dobrev left the series and again when it was having ratings issues and was bumped to Fridays last season. However, the long-running vampire drama hung on and was rewarded with an eighth and final season, which started airing in October. You can catch new episodes on Friday nights over at the CW.

It's a sad truth that Grimm will be ending this TV season (and will be getting a shortened episode order to boot), but when endings happen there are also often new beginnings. This week, we learned that the Grimm showrunners Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt are already working on a new TV project. The even better news for fans of the Peacock Network? It looks as if they will continue to work with NBC come next season.

This new project won't be a supernatural drama, and actually sounds a little bit like the National Treasure franchise, at least in that there will be a historical mystery fueling the series. The premise will follow a group of grad students who will "uncover a 40-year-old secret," per Deadline. The secret will revolve around a murder and "blood money" if a historical mystery on its own isn't enough to entice you to want to watch.

Awesomely, Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner, who also produce on Grimm, are involved in NBC's new untitled project. The two will executive produce alongside Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt. NBC has a few other projects from Hazy Mills (Hayes and Milliner's production company) in the works, so it's unclear if this one will get greenlighted, but we'll keep you updated as it moves forward in the pilot process.

This project doesn't have a title, yet, much less a series order, but I'm really hopeful NBC will opt to keep the Grimm creative team on the network next year. In addition, I can see this being a great primetime lineup fit with Timeless, the NBC time travel drama that also heavily features different time periods in the past. Timeless has sort-of been on the bubble in terms of the numbers, which means right now it looks like a toss-up between whether or not it will get a second season pick-up, although we're nowhere near to the end of the season, yet. But if NBC wants to pivot from a supernatural-oriented Friday night to a historical-oriented lineup, I'm all in. Just a thought, NBC, just a thought.

So far, NBC's new fall shows are doing pretty well. This is Us, especially, has crushed in the ratings and The Good Place and Timeless have put up decent numbers. Even if all of the newbies get renewed, there will be at least one spot in the schedule come spring, thanks to Grimm ending out its run.

The new TV season is about to start, as evidenced by the lengthy number of titles that are on our Fall TV premiere schedule. The various networks often put out a slew of Digital, DVD and Blu-ray releases for big TV shows just before new episodes hit the air in late September. There's lots and lots of TV to choose from this month, if you are looking for a set or three to add to your collection.

September, of course, is also a big month for movie releases. Notably, Captain America: Civil War is hitting Blu-ray, DVD and Digital this month, with the Digital release coming a little early on September 2. There are plenty of interesting Digital releases heading into homes before the Blu-ray and DVD releases this month, and if you see any big titles that aren't mentioned, it's likely the release date already happened or is the same day as the Blu-ray release. Now You See Me 2 Blu-ray Review

Now You See Me 2 is a sequel that finds the Four Horsemen in hiding, with plenty of people out for revenge against them thanks to their antics from the first film. Jon M. Chu's sequel has a little work to do at the beginning, both explaining a little more about Agent Dylan Rhodes' (Mark Ruffalo) backstory and explaining why Henley, who was played by Isla Fisher in the first film, did not return for the second (various reports have indicated her pregnancy came into play). This time around, we catch up with J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson) and Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) and meet Lula May (Lizzy Caplan). The twisted plot involves a technological genius played by Daniel Radcliffe who tasks the newly returned to work Horseman to steal a chip that can unlock devices. It's a fine enough premise, but despite the twists and turns, Now You See Me 2 is a entertaining movie to throw on at home for nearly any reason. However, Lionsgate Home Entertainment's set isn't something to write home about. The set does come with a Blu-ray, DVD and Digital copy (and a 4K combo pack is also available), giving you plenty of options to watch. While the Blu-ray has a couple of extra featurettes and both the Blu-ray and DVD have audio commentary, this isn't really a movie you want to purchase for the extras. Captain America: Civil War Blu-ray Review

The latest installment in the Captain America films is a solidly satisfying film that engages on both action and storytelling levels, despite having a lot going on. In fact, beyond its main premise, the film is used to introduce Spider-man (Tom Holland) and even pits teams of superheroes against one another. Although it does a lot, the Russo Brothers movie manages to be amusing, to boot. The basic premise revolves around Marvel's biggest superheroes having problems getting on the same page after the U.N. decides to pass the Sokovia Accords, which would basically put checks and balances on the heroes, in effect also limiting their freedom. An interconnected storyline involving Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) keeps the Captain America-based storytelling thread at the forefront, although much of the plot is focused on Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) not being able to get on the same page as Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), to disastrous consequences.

Walt Disney Home Entertainment's release has been available on Digital for a short while now, so there's a chance you've already seen it at home, but if you'd like a hard copy, the Blu-ray set is a pared down---meaning no additional Digital copy--but economical set that does have a slew of bonus features. (More details here.) The two-part "Making of" featurette is refreshingly not boring, and four deleted scenes are included. The best of those fleshes out the funeral scene a little bit more. Audio commentary by Anthony & Joe Russo and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely is also included, if you feel like going super in-depth with the extras. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping Blu-ray Review

Andy Samberg has definitely proven to be an acquired taste, but if you like projects like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Hot Rod you'll like Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, a movie that is funnier in individual moments than it is cohesive. Set in a mockumentary style, the Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone-directed film follows the story of Conner4Real (Samberg), a former member of the band The Style Boyz who broke off on his own after things turned sour. Fame doesn't turn out as expected and Conner is forced to get a little introspective as he rubs elbows with a slew of celebrities. This means that celebrity cameos abound in this movie, from Mariah Carey and Jimmy Fallon and the roots to Usher and way more big names, Popstar offers a lot of celebrity sighting. Still, sometimes the parody of celebrity culture gets to be a bit much, especially when nods at TMZ are involved.

If you like the work from The Lonely Island crew, there are quite a few extras on the disc, including music videos for some of the blatantly ridiculous songs that appear in Popstar. A slew of deleted scenes are included---and when we say slew, we mean it, although there's literally one deleted scene that's just random concert footage. There are so many outtakes there's almost a movie within a movie in the extras. There are also some extra funny moments that play during the credits of the flick. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising Blu-ray Review

Most of the time when popular movies produce a sequel, they somehow try to go bigger and harder with the premise. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising doesn't fall into this trap. Instead, it just reworks the formula to tell the same story it does in the first movie, just with wackier and generally even more hardcore young ladies. Kudos to director Nicholas Stoller and the slew of writers for figuring out ways to bring Dave Franco and especially Zac Efron back. Chloe Grace Moretz is perfect as a kind-of punk-talking teenager who is anti-status quo. Her character, Shelby, bands together with a crew of girls (Kiersey Clemons, Beanie Feldstein) to create a sorority so they can throw parties, much to the chagrin of Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne), who live next door. Sure there are plot holes in the flick and a few jokes that don't land (like the recurring dildo joke), which really didn't happen in the original Neighbors, but Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising is still worth a watch.

There are 12 deleted scenes with the set, some of which are very funny. They also sort of flesh out the story more; both Selena Gomez and Dave Franco get extra screen time, and there's a segment featuring the girls in the sorority putting together a truly vicious butane-in-a-fire-extinguisher prank. Other extras on the disc explore Dave Franco's change in sexual identity and how "The Ultimate Tailgate" was put together. You can order your own copy of the reasonably priced Neighbors 2, here.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment busted out a pretty impressive holographic cover for the release of The Shallows, the survival thriller featuring one very determined young woman surviving against one very large shark. I'm going to go ahead and lead that I love Blake Lively, and she's a good fit for The Shallows, carrying the movie through most of its big scenes. Like survival thriller 127 Hours, the movie largely rests on Lively's shoulders, and in this case the flick is better for it. While not the best thriller we've seen in recent years, it holds up pretty well during its 86-minute runtime. In addition, the Blu-ray set comes with a few extras, including deleted scenes. One featurette will probably make you a little jealous, as it basically delves into finding the perfect beach for the film. Or maybe I just need a vacation. Central Intelligence Blu-ray Review

You'd expect a team-up between Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson to be a pretty fun endeavor, and for the most part Central Intelligence hits the mark. The film follows Calvin Joyner (Hart) as a former prom king and high school athlete who is looking for a little more excitement in his life. He soon gets it when he meets with Bob Stone (Dwayne Johnson), who was formerly bullied in high school but has now turned himself into a mean killing machine. Rawson Marshall Thurber's fil gets pretty complicated when the two get involved with stopping a terrorist from selling important satellite codes. The plot is occasionally over-the-top and some of the gags in the film don't work, but when the movie is on, it showcases the best from two of the biggest stars of today. It's also overall just pretty entertaining. Warner Bros Home Entertainment's Blu-ray set comes with all of the usual suspects, including an Ultraviolet copy, a gag reel, alternate scenes, director commentary and, yes, a Line-O-Rama. Warcraft Blu-ray Review

Warcraft begins with a group of Orcs led by the sorcerer Guldan (Daniel Wu). Their world is dying, and they're also being chased by a nameless evil, and so Durotan opens a portal into another world, allowing a small band to escape in order to find enough power on the other side to let the rest of the orcs through. If this is already confusing, you're not alone. On the other side they find the world of Azeroth, led by King Llane Wrynn (Dominic Cooper). The King sends his right-hand man Sir Anduin Lothar (Travis Fimmel) to contact the wizard Medivh (Ben Foster) in order to figure out what to do about the orcs who are tearing up the countryside. That's the basic plot of Duncan Jones' movie, although it gets more complicated and crowded as more characters are introduced. The movie didn't do well stateside, but it did well overseas, and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has supplied a slew of bonus features with its Blu-ray set for the audiences that did really get into the film, which is based on a popular game. Some of these aren't the best, like a segment on "Madame Tussaud's" and another teaser that was just thrown in for extra content, but I did enjoy the extra "ILM: Behind the Magic of Warcraft," as the movie is strongest when it is dealing with visual effects, and it's always interesting to see that aspect of the industry at work. Other extras included deleted scenes, a gag reel, a motion comic and a lengthy Blu-ray exclusive featurette called "The World of Warcraft on Film."

NBC revealed their Fall 2016 lineup today, giving us a look at how the week will play out over at the Peacock. Returning this fall are Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D., along with The Voice, Grimm, Blindspot and others. Joining the schedule are This is Us, The Good Place and Timeless.

The Good Place

As we are nearing the end of the TV season, the networks have started to make decisions regarding which shows will move forward next fall and which will be left in the dust. While NBC has renewed Law & Order: SVU, Chicago Fire and a slew of other dramas, it now seems as if there might be less great news for one of those renewed dramas. This week, NBC made a tough decision to cut down on the number of episodes ordered for its supernatural drama Grimm. While not a cancellation, it isn’t exactly good news, either. 

Grimm had been a steady performer on Friday nights on NBC during the first few years it was a part of the network’s schedule. This year, however, the show saw its ratings drop below a 1.0 on occasion as it dealt with solid competition from the CW, which moved Vampire Diaries and The Originals to Friday nights, and Fox, which also moved Sleepy Hollow to Friday nights. That’s not even counting ABC’s and CBS’ less supernatural Friday night lineups. Despite the numbers waning a bit, NBC ultimately opted to renew Grimm for Season 6 earlier this month. Now, the network isn’t exactly backtracking, but Deadline says Season 6 is looking like it will only be comprised of 13 episodes. Normally, a full order for a network TV show is at least 22 episodes, so 13 is a big difference. 

Oftentimes, when a network chooses to cut back on an episode order after a show has been on the air for many years, it’s not the best news. In fact, a shortened season sometimes signals the end to a series, giving the show an opportunity to wrap up in a way that makes sense and also gives fans the most closure related to the most storylines. That’s exactly what Fox is doing for Bones when it returns for a shortened final season next fall. 

Regardless, NBC isn’t willing to say that Season 6 will be the last for Grimm just yet. In fact, reports indicate that NBC’s episode order is open-ended. Thus, if Grimm does well after it premieres during the 2016-2017 TV season, NBC might just go ahead and give the show more episodes. If it doesn't do well, 13 might be all we get. 

It’s a little early to speculate on how next season will shake out. Ratings are a key factor, but so is how well a program is doing when compared to the other shows that air on the same night or on the same network. One of the big things that Grimm has going for it is a committed and active fanbase, and hopefully that fanbase will tune in when the show returns for Season 6. Fans of Grimm have not had it very good in the last season. Not in terms of what was actually happening on the show or anything, but by how non-wonderful the live ratings have been and the general feeling that NBC might drop the ax down on the fantasy drama before another season could hit the airwaves. But the network has defied all the naysayers by putting in an official order for Grimm Season 6, which will kick off later this year.

Oddly, the announcement for Season 6 also comes with a small synopsis about what fans can expect to see in the next batch of episodes, which isn’t generally the case when a renewal is ordered before a current season is finished airing. But we’ll take it. Half of it is generic, saying Nick will have to step up to protect Portland (and his kiddo) from the dreaded Black Claw, with the assistance of his allies, naturally. As well, Sasha Roiz’s Captain Sean Renard will apparently see his relationship with Nick change while attempting to ascend the ladder of authority, and he will have to deal with some serious situations to maintain his own status quo.

Perhaps it’s not that surprising that NBC would want to bring Grimm back for at least one more year. The ratings, while not outstanding, are pretty damned good for a primetime show airing on Friday nights, and they’re largely comparable to the numbers from when it aired on Monday nights. And it gets more eyes than other genre-heavy Friday shows like Sleepy Hollow and The Vampire Diaries.

Plus, even those who aren’t tuning in when it’s actually airing are perfectly fine with watching it later on, as NBC claims Grimm gains an average of 2.4 million viewers from Live+7 delayed viewing, as well as a 90% uptick in the key 18-49 demographic. There’s no denying that people indeed love the show, but it’s just sometimes on their own time.

Oddly enough, NBC also took a moment in its renewal announcement to point out/boast that rich people like to watch Grimm, and that the show does really well in the key demographic among those who make more than $100,000 a year. I’m not sure why that’s relevant, but maybe someone out there was wowed by it.

NBC is currently in motion trying to put together some new things for the next fall season, including a Blacklist spinoff and a small screen prequel to the Taken film franchise. But no reason to figure out how to fill the Friday night timeslot, since Grimm will be filling that for a lot longer.

Most of this fall’s TV programs have wrapped up or are wrapping up for winter hiatus over the next few days. As these shows settle in for a long winter, some, like The Blacklist and Wayward Pines, have already been given brand new seasons. Others, however, are still churning out new content until this spring, when the networks make the final decisions regarding whether or not some of our favorites will be sticking around. While the networks have cut back on actually cancelling TV programs, there are several shows that are currently dead in the water and several more that are in danger of getting cancelled if their numbers don’t improve. Here are the 12 that are currently most in danger of being cancelled by the networks in 2016.

Bones, Fox

Bones has been losing viewers for some time now, and this year the network has even held off on putting Bones on the spring schedule. In addition to the low ratings and the lack of Bones this winter, David Boreanaz has also said he feels this season is the last the show will produce.

Status: Not dead but dying. I think Fox would need to pay more to have Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel come back and I think the network is not inclined to spend additional money on this series.

The Player, NBC

While The Player had a strong cast and a sharp pilot, it’s ridiculous premise didn’t manage to suck in a ton of viewers. After dropping the show’s episode count to a paltry nine episodes, NBC actually gave The Player’s timeslot to Jennifer Lopez’s Shades of Blue. The Player is not going to get to play any longer.

Status: Dead, but NBC hasn’t officially confirmed it yet.

Reign, The CW

Reign is stuck in a horrible Friday night slot and its numbers reflect that. Even a tender dying young king couldn’t help those numbers this season, and it’s probably all downhill from here. Still, Reign might just be given a shortened season next fall, as the CW is fond of giving programs the opportunity to wrap up for fans. (See Hart of Dixie, etc).

Status:Possibly going to get cancelled to make room for new content or might get a shortened final season. Either way, this one should be on its way out.

Person of Interest, CBS

After a strong start, Person of Interest made some creative decisions that led to a loss of viewership. The show has been shuffled around on the CBS schedule for the last couple of years, and this year CBS ordered fewer episodes of the series and then kept POI off of both its fall and winter schedules. Fans will likely get the new eps this summer, but we’re guessing it will be the last season for the drama.

Status: Missing in action, which isn’t exactly a good thing.

Blood & Oil, ABC

Blood & Oil had a tough start over at ABC, and the numbers faltered from there (last night’s finale was a low note, ratings-wise). Similar to The Player, ABC reduced the show’s episode order but failed to cancel the soapy drama, which starred Don Johnson. This wasn’t the worst new show this season, but it certainly won’t be coming back.

Status:Dead, but ABC hasn’t confirmed it, yet. No one is really fooled though, as many of this week’s recaps listed the finale as a “series finale.”

Truth Be Told, NBC

Truth Be Told started with a dismal premise and is going to end with dismal numbers. Unfortunately, NBC can’t seem to twist the knife in as deeply as the network should be doing. The freshman comedy was originally given 13 episodes, but now only 10 will be produced. Eight have already aired. Look for the series to fade away shortly.

Status:Dead, but NBC hasn’t confirmed it, yet. Seriously, NBC, just put this one out of its misery.

Castle, ABC

As much as I love Rick Castle and as much as I was invested in the Castle and Beckett romance for years, much like Grey’s Anatomy, the series has reached the end of its rope in terms of personal drama. Unlike Grey’s Anatomy, the 18-49 demo numbers aren’t supporting Castle anymore. The show has seen its worst ratings ever this season and could very well be on its way out.

Status: Let’s see how strong ABC’s lineup is for next season. If midseason stuff like The Catch and Agent Carter continues to do well, Castle could say sayonara this year.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, the CW

We love Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, but we know we are very much in the minority. The show pairs with Jane the Virgin, which also hasn’t been a huge ratings winner over at the CW. However, it also fares worse than Jane the Virgin and the numbers don’t look particularly sustainable over the long haul.

Status: This show had one foot in the grave until a week ago, when lead Rachel Bloom landed a Golden Globe nomination. Not sure the CW will want to cancel a critically acclaimed show.

CSI Cyber, CBS

CSI has been a staple on CBS for so long at this point that it’s hard to imagine a world without the procedural. However, the latest in the series hasn’t done as well in the ratings, and is stuck in the 10 p.m. timeslot on Sunday nights, which is rough for that network. I thought adding Ted Danson might help, but it looks like it hasn’t.

Status: While CBS loves the older demographic, CSI: Cyber’s numbers have never been great. This one will probably get cleared out to make room for new stuff next year.

Grimm, NBC

Grimm’s numbers were never phenomenal and they have been getting worse over the last few seasons. However, the show is a good property for the network, and it’s the one I’m most hesitant about putting on this list. Still, last week’s .8 rating was really, really crappy, so there’s a big chance Grimm might not make it past spring sweeps.

Status: Not dead yet. NBC really likes Grimm. Grimm has an avid fanbase. I’d give this show one more season, but not if the numbers keep falling. C’mon NBC, give this one a better lead-in.

Mysteries of Laura, NBC

The Mysteries of Laura did decently during its first season, but the show has never commandeered particularly high ratings and it’s not well-liked by critics or beloved by fans. In fact, I’d argue it’s the most “meh” show in NBC’s lineup and that might lead to it getting cancelled. Unlike Chicago Fire, The Blacklist and NBC’s other big shows, Mysteries has yet to earn an early renewal, as well.

Status:Decent overall numbers but a relatively low rating might mean that NBC gives up on this one moving forward. It’s too wishy-washy at this point to say definitively.

Minority Report, Fox

I actually thought Fox had taken a step back and admitted this show was cancelled, but nope. Like several others on this list, during a normal season, this show would already have been given the axe. But despite the piss poor ratings Minority Report brought in, and despite the fact the show has ended its run, I’m not supposed to say it’s cancelled. Let me just tell you: it’s cancelled.

Status: Cancelled, but Fox isn’t saying anything, yet.

Other shows that are having some problems: The Grinder, Hawaii Five-0, Heroes, although that’s technically an event series, so you could argue that’s a one-off even though it would have earned a renewal if it was doing well, Sleepy Hollow, The Good Wife, and Nashville.

For five seasons, Grimm has had pretty big success on NBC--especially for a Friday night series. The supernatural drama has done well thanks to a Friday night slot, but it seems as if fans are less excited than they once were. When Grimm premiered this fall, the show was down from both the season average and the finale last spring, and the numbers have only dropped from there. The most recent episode, in fact, was down 11% from the week prior, marking a series low in the 18-49 rating for the once-popular NBC drama. It’s a trend that we’ve seen happen to several long-running shows this season.

Despite the series low rating, the latest episode of Grimm wasn’t the worst episode in overall viewership the Friday night drama has ever seen. In fact those honors go to last week’s episode, which only saw 3.62 million viewers tune in the night the show aired. This week’s episode saw 3.7 million total viewers tune in. So, how exactly did Grimm hit a series low?

The answer lies in the advertising demo. While overall viewers did manage to tick up this past Friday, according to TV Line, the show only did a .8 rating, which means less people between the ages of 18-49 caught the episode than any other episode previously. While that might not seem like a huge deal, since advertisers often rely on that number, seeing the words “series low” are never a good thing.

There could be several problems leading to Grimm’s lowering numbers. First and foremost, the show is not as young as it once was. In addition, fewer people are watching shows live than they once were, although that probably doesn’t account for the markedly sizable drop in viewers between Season 4 and 5. Grimm also got a late start this year on October 30, similar to the last couple of seasons. And while the week of Halloween premiere is a nice touch for a supernatural drama, a lot of people have already settled into their weekly TV schedules by the end of October and the beginning of November.

However, I think the biggest problem is that NBC hasn’t found a suitable match for Grimm on Friday nights. Dracula and Constantine both had avid—if not spectacular—fanbases, but didn’t end up getting second seasons at the Peacock network. This year, NBC opted to air comedies Undateable and Truth Be Told in front of the drama. While Undateable, at least, has its fans, unlike Dracula and Constantine neither comedy really feels like a match for the antics on Grimm.

Grimm isn’t the only aging show that has dealt with a ratings problem this season. ABC’s Castle and Fox’s Bones have also seen their ratings falter, and the latter series is not even on Fox’s midseason schedule. Hopefully, Grimm will pick up as it moves forward, but for now, it's not looking good.

This morning, NBC has followed the recent trend of renewing programming well before the end of the TV season. The network is also trying really hard not to be outdone. While CBS and Fox have renewed a few TV shows, NBC has announced the renewal of 5 dramas. Five! So, if you’ve been scanning headlines for news of your favorites, have no fear, The Blacklist, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Grimm and Law & Order: SVU have all been renewed.

Most of this is great news if not the most eventful. The Blacklist is clearly crushing in the ratings, so much so that NBC is moving the series to Thursdays, starting tonight. The show will anchor the Thursday night lineup, hitting the schedule at 9 p.m ET. We’ll have to wait and see if it can be a big competitor against CBS’ Thursday programming, which includes The Big Bang Theory and Mom. If not, doubtless NBC will try another new night, as Red Reddington and co. aren’t going anywhere next TV season. Especially thanks to the massive amounts of money the network brings in by selling the show elsewhere.

Along with The Blacklist, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. were obviously going nowhere, especially now that NBC announced the Chicago franchise might get yet another spinoff. The new show would potentially be called Chicago Medical or Chicago Med and would follow doctors, nurses and more working in a Chicago hospital. Honestly, I personally feel this one should just move forward and NBC should have a “Dick Wolf night” sort of like how ABC has a “Shonda Rhimes” night. Unless the network is secretly planning a Chicago Teachers Union drama, as well. There's only so many hours of primetime.

Law & Order: SVU has been around forever and still does decently in the ratings. Likewise, Grimm has found a ratings niche. Both shows were likely to be renewed, although I have no idea how long the Law & Order spinoff can continue to entice Mariska Hargitay to come back (the only thing that’s still fresh about that show is her salary).

We’re happy for the renewals, but really this brings us to the question: Where is Constantine? We already know the comic-based series did not receive a full 22-episode order and production was shut down, but on the bright side, reportedly NBC thinks Constantine is a great fit to air next to Grimm. Combine that theory with the fact that ratings—while not great—are up from what Dracula was doing a year ago, there is still hope for a renewal. Obviously, NBC hasn’t made the big decision, yet, but John Constantine is not amused.

On a serious note, I don’t blame a network for biding its time when millions of dollars are on the line, yet May seems as if it is forever away. If you’ve been watching Constantine, we totally suggest giving live viewing a shot to increase those numbers a wee bit. In the meantime, at least Mariska Hargitay and James Spader aren’t going anywhere.

Last night, NBC finally premiered its new drama Constantine, a new show about an exorcist and occult detective that also happens to mark the network’s first entry into DC’s comic TV realm. NBC has been looking for a stable series to pair with Grimm for quite some time, and Constantine may be a winner. Last night, Constantine capably pulled a 1.4 rating, which was down just a smidge from Grimm’s 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

The good news for Constantine is that it kept most of its Grimm lead in, nabbing 4.3 million total viewers during its premiere. That’s a million total viewers down from Grimm, which did 5.3 million total viewers on Friday night, but still relatively good overall.

TV Line has been quick to note that Constantine’s numbers are down from Dracula’s premiere, which was NBC’s attempt to populate the Friday timeslot last year. Dracula’s premiere drew 5.3 million total viewers and a 1.8 rating. Dracula was also canceled after just one season, and if you compare the numbers, things don’t look particularly great for Constantine. Regardless, there are two things fans should keep in mind when attempting to compare last year’s Friday premieres to this year’s.

First, it's actually difficult to compare Dracula and Constantine for the simple reason that Grimm premiered to bigger numbers last year. The Grimm Season 3 premiere drew 6.1 million total viewers, which is much higher than this fall’s Season 4 premiere and which certainly made it easier for Dracula’s debut to retain big numbers last year. More importantly, however, Dracula started immediately dropping in the ratings during week 2. All Constantine has to do is maintain its ratings next week and it should be sitting prettier than last year’s show.

Constantine’s pilot was fairly well-received, but it should be getting better moving forward. One of the big issues NBC had with the pilot was Lucy Griffith’s character, Liz, who had originally been conceived as a sidekick for John Constantine. Instead, she’ll be replaced by Zed, a character from the comics who will appear as the new female lead in the show. Hopefully, by Episode 2, Constantine’s kinks will be worked out.

How I Met Your Mother – Season 9

For its ninth and final season, How I Met Your Mother decided to throw out all the stops (and excess storylines) and closed its focus in on one particular narrative: the weekend of Robin and Barney’s Long Island wedding. Cristin Milioti joined the show as a regular this season for the role of the titular Mother, whose story can finally be told through flashbacks and flashforwards. Things get ever more tumultuous and silly once the season gets closer to the wedding itself, and it all culminates with one of the more polarizing finales in sitcom history. Luckily, the series’ full box set contains an alternate ending for those who were fed up with the one that you’ll see here. You can’t please all of the people all of the time, and you’re lucky to please Barney even a quarter of the time. Farewell, How I Met Your Mother!

The Walking Dead – Season 4

Because The Walking Dead’s seasons have been split up by the extended midseason hiatus, I can never remember when certain storylines happened, such as the Governor’s post-Woodbury life and Rick and Tyreese’s fight. It all happened in Season 4, by the by, which you can now stream in its entirety, which to me is a better way to tackle this often unevenly presented series. This season introduced us to Bob (Lawrence Gilliard, Jr.) and let us get to know Sasha and Beth better. (The latter gets almost an entire standalone episode with Daryl, and the two get ripped on booze and argue a lot.) As you can imagine, this season featured some of the series’ most shocking and effective deaths and massacres, ending up in the one place where everyone assumed they would finally be safe for a while. Season 5 will be starting up in a couple of weeks with some of the deadliest events the show has introduced yet, so be sure and catch up on all of this trauma first.

Transparent – Season 1

At this point, Amazon’s Pilot Season approach to original programming has given us the solid (but not particularly memorable) comedy Alpha House, but their new comedic drama Transparent easily eclipses that series and almost every other new show I’ve seen in the last year or so. Jeffrey Tambor stars as Maura (formerly Mort), a transgender parent who is coming to terms with embracing this lifestyle at the same time her three children are trying to figure their own lives and identity crises out. With winning performances from Gaby Hoffman, Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass and the many, many co-stars, Transparent not only takes on relatively new material for a TV series, but it does it with finesse and wit, always searching to highlight the characters’ traits rather than exploit them. Created by Jill Soloway (The United States of Tara), this is a series that isn’t afraid to head into risqué territory to achieve its emotional conquests.

NBC has officially unveiled their 2014-2015 lineup, which reveals some big changes to their schedule the most notable of which is a very different Thursday night line-up. NBC has traditionally blocked out four half-hour slots for comedies on Thursday night, however this Fall, they've set The Biggest Loser in the 8:00 p.m. slot, followed by two new comedies and then the return of Parenthood, which is officially locked in for a sixth season, which will be its last. Parenthood is the only thing that's staying the same for NBC's Thursday night, at least for now. Parks and Recreation will return for its (confirmed) last season during Midseason 2015, but NBC hasn't specified what day they plan to air it.

NBC stated that "reinvigorating" Thursday night was a big priority, and you'll note in the line-up below, they plan to move The Blacklist to Thursday night starting in February.

It's no secret that NBC has struggled with their Thursday night comedy block. The line-up that once included shows like Cheers, Seinfeld, Friends and The Office hasn't managed to find any other hugely successful shows to keep the ratings rolling in recent years. We learned last week that NBC cancelled Community, which probably should've been a clue that the Peacock was ready to make a big change to Thursday programming.

So Thursday night will be very different. But NBC hasn't abandoned comedy entirely. There are a number of new half-hour shows listed on the line-up, including a couple on Thursday night, wedged between The Biggest Loser and Parenthood (Bad Judge and A to Z) and NBC notes that Parks and Recreation will return for its last season during midseason. Also held for midseason are Tina Fey and Robert Carlock's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the Ellen DeGeneres produced One Big Happy and Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Mission Control. There's also Craig Robinson's Mr. Robinson.

Grimm remains on Friday nights, but cancelled drama Dracula has been replaced by DC comic adaptation Constantine. Hannibal is set to return, but the same can not be said for Revolution, Crisis and Believe, all of which were cancelled.

NBC also announced that they've ordered the Katherine Heigl-starring State of Affairs, as well as spy-thriller Allegiance, detective drama The Mysteries of Laura, Among the event series, there are Emerald City, Aquarius, Heroes Reborn and The Bible followup A.D..

And just like that: everyone and their mother is getting in on the digital series game. First came the announcement that Jason Katims’ two stalwart series — Parenthood and Friday Night Lights — were getting the tiny tube treatment, and now it seems that several other NBC series are getting the same in the wake of their series’ hiatuses, including Parks and Recreation, Grimm, and Chicago Fire. It’s almost as if the networks are taking the Internet seriously or something.

Keeping up with the Internet Joneses is serious business, and executive vice president of digital media at NBC, Rob Hayes, believes that tapping into preexisting audiences’ desire for content on content on content will secure them during hiatus moments. "We worked closely with the writers on these series and want to give our audience a chance to stay in touch with their favorite shows. These digital series provide a great way to give our loyal audience even more original programming.” All series will be available on Hulu, NBC.com, and YouTube.

The series in question include several things work getting excited about. Including the aforementioned Parenthood/Friday Night Lights mash-up, there will also be a Parks and Recreation spin-off featuring lovably incompetent nincompoop Perd Hapley, a training-centric Chicago Fire digital mini, and a Valentine’s Day themed series for Grimm. Let’s do a rundown of each, shall we?

Friday Night at the Luncheonette

The most anticipated of the three will undoubtedly be the Katims’ mash-up. Featuring Mae Whitman’s Amber and Max Burkholder’s Max putting in overtime at the Luncheonette, the duo will find themselves in the presence of FNL greatness by the way of Jesse Plemmons’ Landry Clarke (taking a break from making meth with Walter White) and Billy Riggins (known in the real world as Derek Phillips) and Clarke’s now-iconic group, Crucifictorious. Things take a turn for the rollick-y after the band shows up and causes some sort of ruckus, forcing Amber to try and hold down the fort while Max documents the whole shebang. The four-part digital series will kick off on Thursday, February 13th.

The Hapley Group

Centering around Pawnee, Indiana’s iconic and incompetent newsman Perd Hapley (Jay Jackson), the web series will also feature some other fan favorite side characters, including radio hosts Crazy Ira (Matt Besser) and The Douche (Nik Kroll), as well as Joan Callamezzo (Mo Collins), and a new character entirely, Mike Patterson (Seth Morris). The incorrigibly crazy cavalcade of kookery will spend their time discussing the hot topics going on in Pawnee. Get ready for a lot of declarative statements and audacious sound effects — and probably Joan hitting on whoever this newbie Mike Patterson turns out to be, because Joan. The series will hit the web on Thursday, February 20th.

I Am a Firefighter

The details are scarce on the Chicago Fire web series, but we do know this much: it will follow Monica Raymond’s character Dawson as she is put through her paces when a sudden emergency derails her firefighter training. This series debuted today and you can watch the first installment below.

Love is in the Air

The Grimm-centric series has a bit of a lighter premise to it — though who knows for how long that’ll last — as it follows Rosalee and Juliette (Bree Turner and Bitsie Tulloch, respectively) as they and their lady friends gather ‘round for a Valentine’s Day spa party that, woopsies, gets a bit turned upsidedown thanks to a love spell. Appropriately, the series debuts on Friday, February 14th.

The crime procedural and television go together like peanut butter and jelly, or green eggs and ham. Also like a serial killer and a jail cell — which is probably why they’re so darn popular. For over fifty years, the crime procedural has dominated television: from Dragnet to Columbo, 21 Jump Street to Law & Order and beyond — all of these iconic procedural dramas made the case for, and canonized, the methodology behind the madness, now and forevermore. In fact, crime procedurals are the number one US television export. We seem to really love them, huh?

That’s because crime procedural is like TV mashed potatoes. It’s warm, inviting, comforting, and you’re guaranteed to be satisfied by the end unless you overindulge and then it quickly becomes monotonous mush. The crime will always be solved, the murderer may or may not die, but justice will always be served.

But some series have done the unthinkable and trying to make the crime procedural exciting and new again. Because everyone deserves a second chance — even a worn-through television genre. And that’s where these shows come in: they’re reinventing the format, and for that we are very grateful.

Jessica's Pick: Sleepy Hollow

Some years ago, Law & Order changed the procedural landscape by adding a law component in addition to catching the criminal in each case. In today's TV landscape, it's not quite so easy to stand out from the pack as a procedural, and to combat this, some sharp cop dramas have expanded and grown more extravagant, building a whole universe to support its bad guy premise. Among these is Fox’s new drama Sleepy Hollow, which follows a Revolutionary War era gentlemen and a modern day cop as they try to take down a slew of monsters from fiction and lore.

Taking down supernatural bad guys has been done before in dramas, including The X-Files and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. However, Sleepy Hollow thrives exceptionally in several ways those shows never did. It’s a fish out of water story in which Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) manages to take to his new surroundings with humor and grace. More importantly, its lore is steeped in pseudo history, with characters like George Washington and towns like Roanoke shaping its monster of the week premise. Sleepy Hollow is a procedural that is fused firmly with lore, but it is its ties with Americana that make the drama an exceptionally fun watch each week.

Kelly's Pick: Grimm

It took Grimm a little while to hit its stride, in terms of its format, eventually managing to find a balance between detective procedural and serialized drama with a supernatural twist. While much of the momentum of the series relies on extended arcs that span the length of the season — in Season 2, a lot of that had to do with Juliet’s amnesia — the driving force of the series is in the episode-to-episode challenges, often related to a monster-of-the-week connected to a crime in Portland that Nick and his partner Hank are tasked to solve. It’s often those episode-long arcs that bring the ensemble together, and it’s the ensemble that makes this series tick.

We could argue that Grimm follows a very similar to format to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in that there’s the chosen one — or a chosen one anyway, Nick’s not the only Grimm out there, after all — and his group of friends, some of whom have supernatural abilities and each of whom brings something to the table. And there are big bads lurking around every corner, some bigger and badder than others. The whodunnit mystery of the week steps outside the box, due to the supernatural nature of some of the criminals. This is a show with bite, literally. Anything goes, which elevates Grimm above other procedurals and keeps us on the edge of our seats in the process.

Jesse’s Pick: Arrow

One of the most common emerging twists on the television procedural is to make the new shows superpowered. Most of the current crop, whether it's ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or The CW's Arrow, involve a (super)villain or mystery of the week that the comic book inspired crew must then overcome. Well, AOS seems like it's still trying to figure out what it is, while the series based on DC's superhero has successfully used the episodic formula to produce an exciting season and a half of TV. Just last night, Oliver Queen completed a mission to Moscow while his sidekick had another one-episdoe run-in with Floyd Lawton a.k.a. Deadshot. Without the 'headlines' to pluck from (like Law & Order, the king of procedurals), it helps that the writers have such a rich source to turn to for stories each week, whether it's bringing in Green Arrow allies or villains from Batman's Rogues Gallery.

Already in this young season, Oliver and his crime-fighting crew have defeated a bunch of copycat Hoods (vaguely similar to those in The Dark Knight), The Dollmaker and a member of The Leagues of Assassins. Sure, Arrow also contains its fair share of serialized storytelling but let's be honest, what procedural doesn't also develop its characters and narratives over time as the adversaries are thwarted and cases are solved? Law & Order doesn't count. It stands to reason that The CW's Flash will follow the same formula as the series providing it a back-door pilot but Marvel's upcoming shows on Netflix will probably opt for a more serialized approach based on the streaming network's model and the fact that they're all building towards The Defenders mini-series. Still, prepare for a lot more super-procedurals on your small-screens.

Mack’s Pick: Person of Interest

More often than not, a procedural begins with its heroes responding after a crime has been committed. Usually, said crime is a murder and the rest of the runtime is situated around interviewing friends, family, coworkers and neighbors of the deceased until one of the interviewed is arrested with just enough time for a dramatic confession. Person Of Interest, however, isn’t interested in playing by those rules. Instead, it incorporates artificial technology to offer precise, detail-less forecasts of social security numbers that will be involved in a violent crime in the immediate future.

Thanks to that premise quirk, Person Of Interest is less a show about solving crimes and more a show about discovering what the crime, or proposed crime, actually is. Sometimes the social security number the machine spits out will belong to a murderer. Sometimes it will belong to a potential victim or a bank robber whose plans to make off with an armored car could mistakenly lead to plenty of death. The curious nature of all the cases taps into that same portion of our brains that Murder, She Wrote and Law & Order accessed, but its format flip makes it feel new and exciting, especially since the whole thing is dressed up in futuristic monitoring devices, wiretaps and computer science buzz phrases like statistical analysis.

Alicia’s Pick: Hannibal

Most crime procedurals completely sidestep the mental effects those crimes have on the people around them, preferring instead to really ram home the satisfaction that comes with solving a murder. But with NBC’s Hannibal, a case can be made for its inventive approach to crime drama — by using the procedural format as a way into the dimly lit pathways of the mind. In this case, it’s just one mind: mainly that of hyper-empathetic FBI profiler Will Graham. The gruesomeness of the kills hooks you in each week, visually arresting and oftentimes physically upsetting as they are — but it’s through the procedure that you see the big picture.

There is nothing about discussing the mental ramifications of crime that’s easy. In fact most of it is wholly dependent on the person, places, and things involved — it’s all completely circumstantial. But by taking something as satisfying and comforting as the procedural format, you’re able to, week after week, see the new and different ways it does. It allows for the psychological game of cat and mouse between Will and pre-Silence of the Lambs era Hannibal Lecter to take place. And through that, we see the bevy of psychological mind games that psychopaths play, and how that affects both the serial killer and his innocent victim/plaything.

While Monroe and Rosalee begin to get domestic with their relationship, it looks like the series is planning to introduce us to Monroe’s parents at some point this season. E.T.’s Dee Wallace and Friday Night Lights’ Chris Mulkey have been cast to play Monroe’s parents. And from what’s being reported, it doesn’t sound like they’re all that supportive of their son’s lifestyle choices.

TVline reported the news, stating that Wallace and Mulkey will be playing Alice and Bart, Monroe’s Wesen parents. Now, we know Monroe’s pretty happy with his current state of affairs. He’s best friends with the local Grimm, he’s maintaining a non-violent lifestyle and he has the love of a beautiful Fuchsbau. But from what TVLine reports, it doesn’t sound like Monroe’s parents are all that appreciative of any of this. The appearance, which is set for sometime later this season, is related to Monroe and Rosalee’s wedding. Apparently, Monroe will have to convince his parents to open up to his way of life. It sounds like Monroe’s relationship with Mom and Dad will be hanging in the balance.

Wallace may be best known for playing the mother to Elliot and his sibling in E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. Her earlier credits also include Cujo and Critters. More recently, she appeared in ABC Family’s Switched at Birth and Syfy’s Warehouse 13. As for Mulkey, in addition to playing Coach Bill McGregor in Friday Night Lights, his credits include Cloverfield, 24 and more recently, Boardwalk Empire and Captain Phillips. Going back a bit further, he appeared in First Blood and Rain Man.

So we have Monroe’s judgmental parents to look forward to later this season. But let’s talk about this Friday night, as it sounds like the monster-of-the-week will be taking Nick to the water, while Monroe and Rosalee take a major step forward in their relationship. Here’s the preview for “One Night Stand.”

Thank Grimm it’s Friday! Also thank Dracula, as NBC has made the wise choice to pair their newest drama series with Grimm, creating a two-hour block of supernatural fun for TV viewers who like their drama with a bit of bite in it. Grimm returns for its third season tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET, after which Dracula makes its grand debut at 10:00 p.m. on NBC.

For those who need a refresher course on where things left off at the end of Grimm’s second season, we break it all down for you here, along with some mildly spoilery tidbits about what the first two episodes have to offer.

And then there’s Dracula, the new period drama from Daniel Knauf, Tony Krantz, Colin Callender and Gareth Neame, which stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the title character, who returns to London in the late 19th century, posing as an American entrepreneur named Alexander Grayson. While Grayson attempts to infiltrate Victorian society, he’s also looking to bring modern science to the people in the form of wireless electricity. And then of course, there’s the big secret he’s keeping from people, which is, of course, that he’s a vampire. The story takes some complex turns from there, involving vampire huntsmen, Dracula’s plot for revenge on the people who cursed him with immortality, and his complicated relationship with Van Helsing. Dracula also finds himself drawn to a woman who looks remarkably like his deceased wife.

From the first few episodes of the series, it looks like Dracula aims to be a slow-boil kind of drama, which is kind of refreshing by comparison to some of the network TV serialized dramas that try too hard at the beginning and stumble all over themselves when it comes time to develop the story further. Dracula finds a nice pace from the beginning and sticks with that in the episodes that follow, slowly unfolding Dracula’s back-story with his current state of affairs. The series is intriguing, not to mention nice to look at, between the series' pretty costumes and equally pretty cast.

With that said, I’ve never read Bram Stoker’s Dracula, so in terms of the adaptation of this iconic dark character, I can’t offer much insight in the way of comparison. I do like Meyers’ portrayal of the role for NBC’s series, however, as I think he manages to play up Grayson’s charm and Dracula’s predatory side without delving into unnecessary theatrics. Given the nature of the character, I think that’s a notable feat. I’m not sure I’m as drawn in by the series as I wanted to be by Episode 4, and there’s a lot going on in the story. But as a way to cap off Grimm on Friday nights, Dracula seems like it could be a good fit, and I plan to stick with it for a little while to see where this story is going.

NBC is set to bring Grimm back this Friday night. Since it's been months since the series aired, your memory of the events of Season 2 may be a bit rusty. Allow us to offer you a refresher course in where things left off and what's coming up in the series' third season. We'll start with this handle recap video, which takes us through the highlights of last season. (Season 2 spoilers ahead!)

In addition to finding as many words as possible that rhyme with Wesen, the above video does a pretty good job of summing up where things left off when Season 2 wrapped up. Adalind (Claire Coffee) is getting her powers back, thanks to the help of Stefania (Shohreh Aghdashloo), which should hopefully make her more useful as a character in Season 3. Meanwhile, after spending most of the season not remembering who Nick (David Giuntoli) is, Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) now remembers him and knows that he's a Grimm, and that most of his friends are Wesen. Hank (Russell Hornsby) also knows Nick's a Grimm and that most of the crimes they solve involve people who aren't really people. That certainly simplifies things for Nick at work and it makes Hank a more interesting, less frustrated character. Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) is less of a enemy that he was at the beginning of the season. Or at the very least, he seems willing to ally with Nick, which probably has less to do with liking or trusting Nick as it does with the issues with his family, including his brother Eric (James Frain). Finally, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalie (Bree Turner) are in a cozy, adorable kissy place as a couple, as would Nick and Juliette be if he weren't a zombie.

Season 2 ended with Nick being placed in a casket courtesy of Eric and the fish-face guy in the top hat who left Nick zombified. And that's the cliffhanger. The last we saw of Nick, he was freshly splattered with green goo and left paralyzed in the casket. Who knows what stage of Nick's zombification he'll be in when Season 3 picks up, but on the bright side, at the very least, we know Rosalie has a cure for it. They just have to find him… and also escape the zombies that were surrounding them in the final moments of the finale.

Season 3 picks up with "The Ungrateful Dead." Here's the official episode description:

I've seen the premiere, and without going into too much detail, "The Ungrateful Dead" begins as a direct continuation of last season's "Goodnight, Sweet Grimm." Nick's in the casket, his friends are under attack…

It's a real benefit that all of the major characters in Nick's life know what he is now, as they can all work together to get him back. Secret identities are fun, but they can really clutter up a story if every turn involves telling lies or one or two in-the-dark characters constantly missing obvious clues that something's amiss. In the case of Grimm, with Juliette and Hank in on the loop, they can get involved in the efforts his friends are making to rescue Nick.

Mild Season 3 spoilers ahead...

The first act of the Season 3 premiere is an exciting one, when factoring in all of those zombies that are still at large, not to mention Nick's captor's efforts to escape. And it’s evident by the second episode (“PTZD”) that there will be some fallout from this whole zombie incident. Meanwhile, Adalind's story feels pretty detached from everyone else's, as she works with Stefania to get her Hexenbiest abilities back. It feels a bit like a distraction, but a necessary one if it means we'll have powerful-Adalind back in action.

This may be sheer optimism here, but looking at the first couple of episodes of the series, I feel like Season 3 could be Grimm’s best yet. Now that Hank and Juliette are in on Nick’s situation, there’s so much potential for the group dynamic to really gel. And then there's the matter of Nick coming into his own as a Grimm...

I’m going to do my best to be as vague as possible for spoiler-purposes here. One of the things I’ve noticed about the show, particularly in these first two episodes of Season 3, is that protecting regular people — innocent bystanders/non-Wesen Portlandians — is a priority for Nick and his friends. It’s not just about them protecting themselves from threats or rescuing a targeted victim from a predatory Wesen. Limiting the collateral damage is also a priority. With monsters tearing through the town on a regular basis, the intended targets aren’t the only people at risk. Some guy walking in the wrong parking lot at the wrong time could get hurt, or more specifically, those people who got turned into zombies. They matter. Their lives matter to the lead characters. This is made evident in the season premiere, but it's even more relevant to the second episode.

Something transpires in Episode 2 of the third season that makes me wonder if maybe this subject will be explored in greater detail from Nick’s perspective. The set-up is there, and “PTZD” leaves off in a somewhat uncertain place, which makes me think maybe part of Season 3 will involve Nick trying to handle the level of responsibility that comes with his calling, and question just how accountable he needs to be for the things that happen on his watch.

And with that, I’ll shut my mouth so I don’t give anything else away. But be sure to tune in and watch Grimm when it airs Friday, October 25 at 9:00 p.m. ET on NBC.

World War Z Blu-ray

Much of the buzz surrounding the release of World War Z relates to all of the predictions of financial ruin and how that assumed failure was seemingly overcome almost single-handedly by Brad Pitt's star power. Focusing on that knowledge is somewhat unfair, however, as it loses sight of the fact that World War Z actually turned out to be a fine summer movie that doesn't give audiences one moment to unclear their fists or catch their breaths during the length of its run.

If you’ve been keeping tabs on World War Z at all, you’ll know that the third act was written and then re-written and reshot in what was a costly effort on the studio's part to make the last portion of the film more character-driven. Those who look closely might be able to tell the latter portion of the film takes us in a bit of a different and subtler direction from what we get from the rest of the movie. Still, it achieves what it wanted to achieve: showing off Pitt’s character as a family man.

Pitt stars in the film as a former U.N. employee Gerry Lane, a man who used to extract people from war zones and other dangerous situations. When a plague begins spreading across the United States and much of the rest of the world, Lane does what he can to get his family to safety and then trots around the globe trying to get to the bottom of the zombie epidemic and how to beat the undead.

Hordes of zombies are always tough to describe. Like vampires, the rules are always different. Where do they come from? What are their motivations? How do you dispose of them? World War Z answers these questions craftily, and the unrated version on the Blu-ray does so in roughly ten more minutes than the theatrical release. That may not be enough of a reason to go out of your way to catch the unrated version of the film, but even without the few added moments World War Z manages to explain its mythology without ever really slowing its pace. Our questions are answered in smart ways that heighten our anticipation and equal a big, blowout summer movie that also tickles our brains a little bit.

Best Special Feature: I would have really liked it if Paramount Home Media Distribution had just bit the bullet and given fans access to the disasterous first cut that was almost World War Z. I could wish about that all day and it would never happen, though, so instead I’ll just talk about the WWZ: Production featurettes available with the set.

There are technically four of these that look at the outbreak, the beginning of the journey, the wall scenes in Israel, and “Camouflage,” a segment that explains some of the details from the final scenes of the film. During the featurettes, we get to hear a lot of the cast and producing team talking about how “thankful” they are for the experience, but the more interesting segments are when they focus on how they puzzled through the plot and worked on the special effects.

“Looking to Science”

Bates Motel: Season 1 Blu-ray

The horror genre has become more popular on television in recent years, with shows like American Horror Story and Bates Motel standing out in cable’s lineup as both creepy and kooky. I’ve never watched the former, so when I tuned in for the latter I was wildly, pleasantly surprised by what horror on cable can offer.

A prequel of sorts to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, Bates Motel follows Norma (Vera Farmiga) and Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) in the time just after they set foot in White Pine Bay, Oregon to open a motel. The location and the contemporary time period don’t make the series a full-fledged prequel, but after watching the first season, I can’t imagine a cast or setting that is more fitting for A&E’s freshman drama.

Farmiga shines as Norman’s mother in the series, a possessive, quick-to-anger woman who equally seems dominant over and scared of her teenaged son. Their relationship is a complicated one, and throughout the first round of episodes, it grows even more problematical, as Norman’s estranged brother Dylan (Max Thieriot) shows up on the scene and Norman begins to open up to several girls, including the lovely and kind Bradley (Nicola Peltz) and the spunky and smart Emma (Olivia Cooke).

Bates Motel begins with a dead body, and it certainly isn’t the only dead body viewers see through the show’s ten-episode run. The tranquil town of White Pine Bay opens up some of its secrets and becomes something a little more sinister, with drugs and sex slave rings running amok. The mix of regular coming-of-age tropes and a shifty criminal enterprise is an intriguing way to frame a series, as well. Bates Motel isn’t afraid to mix and mash horror tropes, drama, and complicated relationships. The tightly woven first season is a clear indication of the direction A&E can go with its drama lineup, and with a few new projects at the network, we'll see if any new programming can manage to match up.

Best Special Feature: There aren’t a ton of bonus features with the Blu-ray set, and the best extras are certainly the deleted scenes. When a TV set puts together episode-related bonus features like deleted scenes, the home entertainment people have to decide whether or not to put the deleted scenes in a big chunk on the disc or to spread them out to coordinate with each of the episodes.

In this instance, Universal Studios Home Entertainment opted to lump all of the bonus features together. The deleted scenes are the big bulk of these, and some of them give us added moments of character development, as Norman and his teacher, Miss Watson (Keegon Connor Tracy) exhibit added tension and as Norma and Dylan have a couple of bonding moments. Occasionally, it’s difficult to tell which deleted scenes fit with which episode, but that’s a small criticism.

Behind the Candelabra Blu-ray

Due to its subject matter and all-star cast, Behind the Candelabra received a lot of attention before it made its debut on HBO. Directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Matt Damon and Michael Douglas, the film follows the life of Scott Thorson and his reported lover, the famed pianist Liberace, during the late 1970s. The TV movie is based on the book of the same name written by Thorson in the eighties.

The story of love gone wrong is not a new movie trope. However, if you throw in Liberace’s wild personality, vibrant costumes, and eccentric lifestyle, you have the makings of something a little more interesting. Behind the Candelabra, despite its faults and its monumentally unlikeable characters, is always interesting.

The movie takes us through the rise and decadence of Liberace and Thorson’s relationship. A lot of the focus during the first portion of the movie is on Thorson’s introduction into Liberace’s public lifestyle. It’s tough to play chauffer to a man Thorson clearly feels equal to, and while there is plenty of glitz to living with Liberace, it does come with its own problems. When Liberace decides he wants Thorson to undergo plastic surgery to emulate him, the threads begin to unravel.

Soderbergh’s film is darkly comedic and certainly worth the watch, but HBO Home Entertainment’s DVD set is certainly not up to the company’s usual standards. It’s a flimsy white case with few bonus features, but it also only lists for $19.99, and it’s already available for cheaper over at Amazon.

Best Special Feature: HBO’s DVD set is a barebones affair, and the only bonus feature is a behind-the-scenes “Making of” segment that talks to the cast and crew members. If you really liked the movie, it might be worth a perusal, but don’t count the bonus feature as an additional reason to purchase the movie. It’s not particularly awesome.

Grimm: Season 2 Blu-ray

During its second season, Grimm finally found its niche in the NBC lineup. With the fandom related to the series, Universal Studios Home Entertainment has put together an extremely nice Blu-ray set that is chock full of bonus features—somewhat unusual for an NBC network show.

Grimm is a series that is often shot in the dark, and one of the first things buyers of the Blu-ray will notice is that the scenes shot in darkness are lit incredibly and look great in High Definition. Thanks to vampire dramas being prominent, there are so many shows that are frequently set during nighttime hours (see True Blood and The Vampire Diaries) and Grimm is the best I’ve seen at lighting those hours up.

The series follows Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) as a cop and descendant of the Grimms, a group of hunters who fight supernatural creatures. There’s plenty of myth and lore in Grimm, and the characters are well-developed enough in Season 2 that a wide variety of creatures, including hexenbiests, all seem to be pretty commonplace. The show’s always been part ensemble supernatural drama and part procedural and that weird mix is what is most engaging about the show.

That’s not to say some of the characters aren’t entertaining. Burkhardt’s buddy, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), still offers comedic relief, but is also a more helpful part of the team in Season 2. Additionally, Nick’s mom, Kelly (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) also pops up in the first episode of Season 2, and threatens the balance and alliances that Nick has achieved with some of the wesen living in the area. Season 2 offers a solid 22 episodes of content, and the set is actually quite fun to peruse.

Best Special Feature: A large chunk of the bonus features are available on the fifth disc in the set, but it’s kind of tricky to spot them as there are also several episodes on disc five. There are a lot of really engaging bonus features, including the webisodes and some of the featurettes. It may be worth it, however, to purchase the Blu-ray if you are able and willing, as the HD picture is worth the cost and the Blu-ray sports a few bonus features not available with the DVD.

The best of these Blu-ray only extras is a feature called the “Grimm Guide.” It’s interactive, and it offers an index of most of the supernatural creatures that have popped up in the series, along with photos, definitions, and video footage.

We are nearly in the throes of fall television, and while there haven’t been a ton of big budget movie releases over the last few weeks, this column can’t begin to cover all of the great fodder that Home Entertainment companies now have available on Blu-ray and DVD, should you be a big enough fan to want to own a copy of the season. For those of you looking for an escape from what's left of the summer festivities, there are some great options on Amazon Prime. Last week, we offered you a selection of excellent, currently-airing TV shows consisting of three seasons or fewer, which were available streaming on Netflix. Today, we have a new list with the same criteria for shows that are not available to Amazon Prime subscribers. Those looking to get caught up on some worth-watching TV series ahead of their respective new seasons may want to give these a try.

Grimm

What if the creepy fairytales your parents told you when you were young were real? Grimm explores that scenario in it's own fun, procedural way, centering on Detective Nick Burkhardt, a man who discovers he's a "Grimm," a descendant of a long line of hunters who track down the supernatural beings that inspired the classic (and in some cases, lesser known) fairytales. While these villainous monsters and beasts look just like regular people to the rest of us, Nick can see them for what they really are, and it's up to him to protect his community from the dangers they pose, while also keeping the nature of his calling a secret from his friends and co-workers. That includes his girlfriend Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) and detective partner Hank (Russell Hornsby). But Nick proves to be something of a modern Grimm, which means he's openminded enough to associate with some of the dark and dangerous beasts his kind occasionally hunts, including Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), a "Blutbad" (or big-bad-wolf) who's sworn off his natural predatory diet and is living a clean life.

Nick, Monroe and their later-introduced Fuchsbau friend Rosalie (Bree Turner) make an unlikely trio, but a formidable one when it comes to facing off against dark and dangerous creatures. And it's the dynamic of this trio, added to Juliette and Hank's involvement, that makes Grimm work so well, particularly in the later part of the first season and throughout the second season when we really start to see the show and characters settling into a groove. Season 2 rewards viewers even further as it grows more and more serialized. Amazon recently added Season 2, so you can get completely caught up before the series returns for Season 3 this October.

Sherlock

You might have heard of this next one, if not the current contemporary adaptation of Sherlock Holmes from the BBC (that seems unlikely at this point), then certainly from the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the many previous interpretations to hit both the big and small screens. That makes it sound like the character is played out but Benedict Cumberbatch plays the resident of 221B Baker St. unlike any other we've seen and is an absolute joy to watch.

Of course, the socially inept for-hire practitioner of deduction is nothing without his partner in crime-solving and The World's End's Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson (military surgeon turned amateur blogger and sleuth/sounding board) is equally compelling. As are the rest of the ensemble, including several legit Inspectors who don't like the eccentric 'consultant' sniffing around their crime scenes. It’s quite a delight, with the winning characterizations, endless amounts of enjoyable banter and impeccably structured, emotional storytelling.

The third series of Sherlock is gearing up to air on its native BBC (always a few months before surfacing on PBS in the US) so there's plenty of time to catch up with the six, 90 minute episodes. Yep, it's basically six Sherlock Holmes movie mysteries - all on Amazon Prime ready to be watched - and they're all better than a lot theatrical releases. Guy Ritchie's got nothing on Paul McGuigan. Created by Mark Gatiss and Steven Doctor Who Moffat, Sherlock stars Cumberbatch, Freeman, Una Stubbs, Rupert Graves, Louise Brealey and Andrew Scott.

USA’s Suits currently airs over at the cable station on Tuesday evenings. The fun, fast-paced lawyer drama has made a nice niche for itself in the lineup over three seasons, and if you aren’t one of the 2 million plus people who watch the show each week, now might be the time to change your tune. Don’t get us wrong, Suits has a ridiculous premise that would probably never actually happen in real life. A young man named Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) has an eidetic memory, which leads him to rock out in court cases and helps him to nab a position as a lawyer at an exclusive firm, despite the fact that he has no law degree. Like we said, ridiculous. But Mike’s big secret, his partnership with the smooth-talking legal wiz Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and the many inner workings of the law firm make Suits a little more glitzy than any other workplace show.

Amazon Prime currently has the first two seasons of Suits available for your viewing pleasure, which means if you get super excited about the series, you won’t be able to catch up completely. The good news is, if you’re into Season 3, you can always keep an eye out for reruns on USA, or go ahead and pay $1.99 to buy the brand new episodes via the Amazon Instant Video.

American Horror Story

The great thing about American Horror Story is that it completely resets each year. Each season, a new set of characters are introduced and a new story is told and resolved throughout the course of that season. Season 1, unofficially titled American Horror Story: Murder House, introduces us to the Harmon family, consisting of Ben (Dylan McDermott), Vivien (Connie Britton) and their teen daughter Violet (Taissa Farmiga). Ben and Vivien are coming off some marital troubles after Ben cheated, and Violet's in the distant teen stage where she feels disconnected to everything. Little do they know that their beautiful new home has a violent history and on that will literally come back to haunt them at every turn. What's real and what isn't? That's for viewers and the Harmons to try to figure out as they attempt to rekindle their relationships with one another and move past their issues while finding themselves drawn further and further into the haunted house mystery that's unfolding around them. Jessica Lange plays Constance Langdon, the Harmon's meddling and unsettling neighbor, while Evan Peters plays Tate, a teen who befriends Violet.

As we mentioned, each season resets, so you don't even technically need to watch Season 1 to dive into the third season, American Horror Story: Coven, when it debuts this fall. But Murder House is so much fun - particularly if you're a horror fan - that it's well worth a look and it'll give you an idea of just how dark and twisted Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk take this series. American Horror Story: Asylum (Season 2) isn't available free for Prime subscribers yet, but Amazon does have it available for purchase.

Under the Dome

Television fans might be obsessing over Walt and Hank drama on Breaking Bad’s final few episodes, but there’s an additional place viewers should be looking to catch Dean Norris: Under The Dome. The bald-headed character actor has guested on an incredible number of programs over the years, but in the aforementioned BB and Under The Dome, he’s finally found places to shine. In the latter, he plays a used car dealer and a shady politician with buried secrets trying to keep a small town afloat after it’s suddenly and mysteriously placed under a giant dome.

Exactly why the town finds itself encased in a binding, impenetrable structure is unclear, but the search for answers is just as fascinating as the relationships between the diverse residents of Chester’s Mill. From cops trying to keep order to army veterans with hidden missions, they’ve all got their own agendas, and interested viewers will find more than enough reasons to come back. Under the Dome is currently airing its first season on CBS, and Amazon Prime's been adding the latest episode to its streaming video selection each week. With big ratings for the summer and plenty of avenues to go in, Under The Dome should be around for awhile, and with only ten produced episodes, now is the perfect time to catch up via Amazon Prime’s streaming service as the first season begins to wrap up on CBS.

Awkward

High school sucks for a lot of teens. That's a story that's been told before, but Lauren Iungerich still managed to breathe new life into the concept with Awkward, a teen dramedy that reflects traces of some of the best and brightest teen tales from past decades, including a bit of Freaks and Geeks-like humor, My So Called Life-angst and maybe some traces of John Hughes heartfelt romantic comedy. Ashley Rickards plays Jenna Hamilton, a beautiful but awkward teen whose combined quirkiness and introspection makes for a very entertaining TV series. Our introduction to Jenna includes an unsatisfying closet-set first sexual encounter while away at summer camp and a bathroom accident that comes off looking like a suicide attempt, which essentially wrecks Jenna's social status at school. As she pines for Matty, her first-time guy who still barely knows she's alive, she's also trying to live down her new reputation, all while walking around in a ridiculous arm cast.

It's Jenna's narrative added to the candid way the series approaches teen life - not sugar-coating it but also not wallowing in angsty gloom - that makes Awkward so much fun to watch, even for those of us who are long past our own teen years, with no desire to relive them. The series is currently on hiatus amidst its third season, but Amazon has Seasons 1 and 2 available on Prime and you can get caught up on Season 3's first ten episodes over at MTV's website before the show returns for the rest of Season 3 this October.

Luther

BBC's Luther follows Idris Elba's Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) John Luther working cases for the Serious (and Serial) Crime Unit in London. Part genius, part lunatic and always mesmerizing, the title character will do just about anything to get his man (or woman) after coming back from a work related trauma. But forget his mental health, the cases always take top priority even if they push him to the brink. Or past. Elba, famous for his turn as Stringer Bell on The Wire and about to portray Nelson Mandela, recently won the Best actor in a Miniseries Golden Globe for the role, having also been nominated the previous year not to mention nods for two consecutive Emmys in the same category.

Series 1 and 2 are on Amazon Prime with the four-part third season airing one episode a night on September 3-6 at 10:00pm ET on BBC America. Sienna Guillory also joined the cast for Season 3, if you needed even more reasons to start watching. And if you don't have BBC America but need to continue mainlining Luther after 'Priming' the first two, you can already purchase the Series 3 DVD provided you own a region-free player. First head over to Amazon Prime to catch-up with one of the best characters on TV. At only 10 installments, the drama is a time-flies situation and you'll also quickly see why people have been clamoring for Idris Elba to be the first black Bond or Batman. Created by Neil Cross, Luther stars Elba, Ruth Wilson Warren Brown, Dermot Crowley and Michael Smiley.

Workaholics

If you're not already watching Comedy Central's Workaholics, well, that's just super loose butthole. See, if you watched the 'office' comedy you would know whether that was a good or bad thing. Okay, you can probably guess and the best way to be tight butthole (not have, be) is to catch up on all the shenanigans you've been missing. The first two seasons of Workaholics are available to watch on Amazon Prime with the third also streaming for a small price. But who knows, by the time you get around to the Season 3, especially if you check out a few of the other possibly time consuming recommendations on the list, it could be gratis. If you can't wait, you can always opt to pay per episode on Amazon for the third season or check out the Blu before the fourth premieres sometime in 2014.

Workaholics was co-created by stars, writers, and executive producers Blake Anderson, Adam Devine, Anders Holm and (director) Kyle Newacheck, and follows the comedic exploits of three hard partying, aimless telemarketers named, uh, named Blake, Adam and Anders (the Ders). The trio not only share an office space but also happen to live together and have for what seems like a long, long time. The chemistry between the three real life friends and former roommates is incredible (translating to the best panel at this past Comic-Con) and, even though the situations are heightened, the series probably doesn't stray too far from their reality. They even shot on location at their house. It's like Curb Your Enthusiasm with a lazy millennial point of view. Oh, and it's also super funny. It might entrap you.

Key & Peele

If you still have the power of childish innocence, or just a really great sense of humor, then you'll want to check out Comedy Central's sketch comedy series Key & Peele, because there are no shortage of laughs to be found there. The series is created by and stars MADtv's Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele and features hilarious pre-taped sketches as well as a bit of stand-up from the two stars. Key and Peele's excellent chemistry with one another is part of what makes their sketches work so well. The other part has to do with their stand-up and the way they incorporate their jokes into the sketches, most of which are timed perfectly to squeeze as many laughs as possible out of a joke and then wrap up before the bit gets tired. In addition to great original sketches in each episode, there's also the brilliant recurring sketch involving Luther, President Obama's "Anger translator" whose job it is to say it like Obama really means it. Those alone are worth watching, but the show is full if great moments.

Key & Peele is headed into its third season next month. In the meantime, Amazon has both Seasons 1 and 2 available for free for Prime subscribers.

Downton Abbey

Since it made its U.S. debut on PBS, Downton Abbey has earned a pretty sizable viewership, making the period drama one of the most successful TV imports in recent memory. Even if you missed the show during its first few seasons on PBS, you can still catch up on the drama before it returns to the schedule in 2014, thanks to Amazon Prime and its digital streaming service.

The years just before and after WWI were difficult for Britain’s entitled classes as the economy and the role of big households in English society changed. This description might sound like boring period politics, but Downton Abbey throws in plenty of romance and enough cutting remarks to keep things interesting over three seasons. Interesting really isn’t a strong enough adjective, though. Viewers who begin watching will likely find the drama to be as addicting as baked goods left in the break room. You’ll swoon when new love interests enter the picture and die a little inside every time Mary (Michelle Dockery) and Matthew (Dan Stevens) miss romantic opportunities. Thanks to Amazon Prime, you won’t even have to wait nearly a year for new episodes. You can power through all three available seasons quickly or linger with the characters for as long as you might want.

How The States Got Their Shapes

Over the past few years, the History Channel has gotten a lot of backlash over its decision to start implementing reality programs and more informal and goofy looks at history at the expense of the dry documentaries type historical examinations we all grew up watching. Well, How The States Got Their Shapes is the perfect middle ground. Featuring host Brian Unger, the program uses the unusual borders between states to tell fascinating and hilarious tales from throughout the history of the United States.

Viewers who tune into the History channel want to learn. They want to be amazed, surprised, wowed and hit with facts they can tell their buddies around the water cooler, but they don’t want to fall asleep while being whispered that information. How The States Got Their Shapes is able to accomplish all of that. It’s high energy and sometimes even highbrow. Episodes air regularly on H2, but they’ve also begun streaming on Amazon Prime. If you’re a history buff or just someone who wants to know more about the why Michigan and Ohio almost declared war over each other thanks to Toledo, you should fire the show up immediately.

Grimm has been written off and predicted for cancellation more than a few times, but thanks to a very vocal group of followers who will gladly tune in on Friday nights, the show has continued churning out eccentric and brilliant content on the regular. Today’s Comic-Con panel seems destined to operate as a pretty big thank you from the fans to the stars/ creators and the stars/ creators to the fans. 2:44 PM: It is a hot mess up in here. The panel should have already started, but so many people left after the prior voice work roundtable that hordes are still funneling in like ants who spotted a dropped Twinkie. If nothing else, Grimm fans are a determined lot.

2:49 PM: NBC self-promotional surprise! The panel host is none other than Lester Holt from Dateline. If you've ever watched the newsman and wondered if he's that suave all the time, the answer is yes. His mic skills are incredible. He owns the room like a good stand-up comedian.

2:51 PM: And it's clip time. We're watching a review of the prior season and then a scene for the upcoming block of episodes that was just shot three days ago. Lester says we should be cognizant the effects will improve, but most of these Grimm fans are so stoked about seeing new footage they couldn't care less.

2:54 PM: Our buddy Lester just introduced the cast and creators. A strong case could be made that Silas Weir Mitchell ("Monroe") got the biggest pop. He also gets the first question. He WILL be taking his shirt off again this season more than once, and the women in the crowd are very pleased.

2:57 PM: David Giuntoli refuses to talk about whether or not his character ("Nick") is actually dead. Our buddy Lester removes any nonexistent drama by bluntly pointing out that he's clearly still on the show, which means he's alive. It's that type of blunt and aggressive honesty that allows him to expose killers on Dateline.

3:04 PM: Reggie Lee originally auditioned for the role of Hank, but the part went to Russell Hornsby. Producers like him so much, however, they created the role of Sergent Wu for him.

3:07 PM: Everyone loves shooting in Portland. Everyone. The city is weird. The locations are easy, and Portland residents have embraced the program.

3:11 PM: The cast practically bongs cold brew coffee on set. The first time they got it, everyone went nuts and just pounded it like regular coffee. They were all hopped up like animals. Now, the smarter ones drink just the right amount to let them power through all day without getting too jittery to deliver lines.

3:12 PM: Making appearances in Europe has really helped expand the Grimm fanbase.

3:14 PM: The Grimm creators actually do check social media all the time. They try to see whether fans and critics are liking or disliking the same things, and they figure out a way to modify without losing the overall vision, which strikes me as the best way to interact with very opinionated fans.

3:16 PM: And we're onto the Q&A portion. Let the weirdness begin...

3:17 PM: Why does Captain Sean Renard wear a wedding ring? The creators say it's a royal ring. The woman who asked the question gets snippy and says, "No. It's a wedding ring." The creators refuse to budge.

3:18 PM: We will see mermaids and faith healers, among other new characters next season.

3:19 PM: A second key is teased for this upcoming season, which means we will see a second key. It will "lead to something unbelievable."

3:21 PM: A little girl wants to see a unicorn Wesen. Judging by crowd reaction, at least 40% of the hardcore fans are right there with her.

3:22 PM: Fans want to see Grimm babies. The creators do not. If the latter really do listen to social media, however, I suppose the former all need to start shouting as belligerently as possible.

3:24 PM: The creators hilariously sold the show to the network on the basis that there's "hundreds" of Grimm fairytales. Deep down, however, they were scared shitless because there's only like 10 Grimm fairytails that are famous and aren't profoundly weird and uncomfortable.

3:30 PM: This cast is eclectic. Together, they speak English, French, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalong and some Swedish.

3:32 PM: Jonathan Rhys Meyers introduces the trailer for Dracula. It's creepy. There's plenty of sexual undertones and some graphic biting. People are going to love it. You can catch it on Fridays alongside Grimm and Dateline on Fridays.

3:36 PM: And we're out....

We are inching ever closer to this year’s San Diego Comic Con, and since we’re getting into crunch time, it only stands to reason that networks would begin announcing some fun and exciting Comic Con panels. NBC may not have a ton of popular fan programs on the schedule, but the network has already announced a panel for Hannibal last week. Now, the network has added new panels for Revolution, Grimm, Community, and new series The Blacklist, which stars James Spader as a fugitive who decides to turn himself in.

Names involved with each of the above shows will be in attendence, including Spader, but also Megan Boone, Hugh Dancy, David Giuntoli, Silas Weir Mitchell, and a star-studded Community panel featuring Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Ken Jeong, and Dan Harmon, who recently returned to the series as showrunner. SNL and soon-to-be late night host Seth Meyers is also set to appear at the Hulu panel.

While a stacked Community panel should be fun for fans, the Grimm panel might be even more exciting. During the panel, NBC has plans to unveil a “special” trailer for the network’s new series, Dracula, starring The Tudors vet Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Let’s take a look at that panel, first.

While no exact times have been listed for the panels in the press release, that information should be available, shortly. Additionally, if you were looking for the Hannibal panel information and were too lazy to click the link topside, that panel is set from 6:45 to 7:45 on Thursday, July 18 in Room 6A. It should be a pretty good year for NBC, but keep your eyes peeled for more NBC Comic Con coverage when the panels actually start taking place later this month.

Earlier this week, CBS showed us their Fall 2013 TV premiere schedule. Today, NBC has followed suit, laying out the premiere dates for their new and returning series this fall, including the return of The Voice, Grimm and Revolution, as well as new series Dracula, The Michael J. Fox Show, The Blacklist and Sean Saves the World

Missing from the list is Community, which we know has been renewed but didn't make it onto the fall schedule. Considering that it was moved around a couple of times last season (and originally planned for Friday), it might be a smart move on NBC's part not to secure a date for the series' return only to move it. Going the realistic route, we might be wise to anticipate a midseason return to Community and that way, we'll be pleasantly surprised if it turns out NBC's able to get it on the schedule sooner than that.

The return of The Voice also marks the return of the original panel of judges. Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera will return to their chairs, joining fellow original coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for Season 5 this fall. But, rest assured, Shakira and Usher will be back during the midseason installment of the singing competition. It's The Voice that leads off NBC's premiere schedule...

Thursday nights are going to look very different this fall, with Community not on the schedule and The Office gone. Once all of the premieres roll out, it'll be Parks and Recreation, Welcome to the Family, Sean Saves the World and The Michael J. Fox Show airing in that order, followed by Parenthood on its new night and time, probably taking the bullet for any of NBC's new dramas, which might have occupied that unfortunate timeslot. New series tend not to thrive there, but we can hope Parenthood will manage to hold out against its competitors (Elementary and Scandal among them).

We have to wait until late October for Grimm to return and Dracula to premiere, which is a bummer. But a Halloween-season debut for both series seems fitting. Among the new series headed to NBC this fall are The Blacklist, Sean Saves The World, Welcome to the Family and The Michael J. Fox Show.

And slated for midseason are The Family Guide and the TV adaptation of About a Boy

Thank Grimm it's Tuesday! Tonight, the second season finale of Grimm will air, capping off another suspenseful and exciting season for the supernatural series. NBC released the above preview, which gives us a look at what Nick's up against as the season draws to a close. We also have a clip to show you for the episode.

First, here's the official episode description for "Goodnight, Sweet Grimm" - an ominous title for a season closer!

Rage-fueled assaults? That doesn't sound good! But if anyone's equipped to handle it, it's Nick, Monroe and Rosalee. Those three make a pretty fantastic team. The episode will have Nick battling a big threat, while Renard's brother (played by the excellent James Frain) is in town on "family business" and Stefania and Frau Pech use Adalind to get at each other. And based on the clip below, it looks like Nick and Juliette are about to have a big talk to discuss everything that's been going on and how Juliette's dealing with the truth.

Grimm may be wrapping up its second season, but rest assured, the series has already been renewed for Season 3. NBC has it set to return to Fridays, this fall, where it'll air ahead of their new series Dracula.

NBC wasn't exactly taking a huge risk when they moved Grimm from its Friday night time slot to Tuesday night. Shows tend to do better when they aren't tucked away on Friday nights. Still, fans of the supernatural drama were likely hopeful that the shift from Fridays to Tuesdays would yield a noticeable ratings bump, especially when factoring in the Voice lean-in. Sure enough, the move has given Grimm a much deserved boost in numbers.

EW posted last night's ratings, which incidate that Grimm posted nearly 6 million viewers for last night's "Endangered" episode. That's more than a million more viewers than Friday night's "Volcanalis" earned. The series was moved to Tuesday nights when NBC cancelled Ready for Love. The unscripted dating series took over for Smash, which was disastrously moved to Saturday nights. Ready for Love failed to secure itself a decent-sized audience, even with the benefit of The Voice airing before it. Grimm was already holding its own with between four and five million viewers per episode on Friday nights in its second season, so the Voice lead-in could really only help the show.

Though Grimm fell behind CBS' Golden Boy in total viewers - the CBS cop drama was watched by 7.75 million viewers - the NBC series came out ahead among adults 18-49 with a 2.0 rating, winning the time slot in the demo.

The Voice brought in 11.6 million viewers, falling behind NCIS: Los Angeles, which earned 12.9 million and NCIS, which earned a whopping 17.7 million, which is up a bit from last week and the week before, but down from some of the highs the CBS drama was earning earlier this season. Dancing with the Stars earned 10.6 million viewers.

Among the series slated to return at USA this summer is Royal Pains, which debuts its fifth season in June. It appears the drama, which centers on a doctor who treats wealthy clientele out in the Hamptons during the summer, has tapped into NBC's pool of talented actors for its guest stars, as Community's Danny Pudi and Grimm's Claire Coffee are both set to appear in the series in Season 5.

TVLine says Pudi will guest star as a radio personality whose career is on the rise. He visits HankMed when he begins to lose his voice, which - inconveniently - just so happens to be right before an event that could make or break his career. Pudi's likely best known these days for playing the ever observant Abed in Community. Prior credits include recurring roles on Greek and Gilmore Girls. I'm so used to seeing him as Abed now that it should be fun to see him playing a different kind of role than the quirky BFF to Troy in the NBC comedy series.

As for Claire Coffee, whom Grimm fans will know as the occasionally trouble-making Adalind Schade in the supernatural drama, she's set to appear in Royal Pains, playing the owner of a doggie hotel in the Hamptons. Prior to Grimm, Coffee appeared in Franklin & Bash and The League.

Also set to appear in Royal Pains this season is Tony Award winner Stephen Spinella, who will play Paige's difficult new boss. In addition to winning Tonys for his performances in Angels in America: Millennium Approaches and Angels in America: Perestroika, Spinella's credits include appearances in Desperate Housewives, Lincoln and Grey's Anatomy.

Royal Pains Season 5 premieres June 12 on USA.

Whether or not the lights come back on in Revolution remains to be seen, but either way, NBC won't be turning the lights out on this series anytime soon. Revolution was among the five dramas NBC renewed today for next season. Also set to return are Grimm, Parenthood, Chicago Fire, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

This news comes ahead of NBC's upfront presentation next month, and ahead of some of the season finales for the mentioned series. Parenthood had already wrapped up its fourth season back in January, and we've been left to wonder if the series would be back for Season 5. NBC has confirmed that the Bravermans will return. Each season of the Jason Katims' series (based on Ron Howard's film) has been shorter than the last, so it's especially good news to hear that - like the other four series renewed today - Parenthood's next season will consist of 22 episodes.

Revolution still has six episodes left in its first season, but fans can rest easy knowing the show will return for Season 2. The adventure-drama about characters trying to survive in a global blackout, is currently airing on Monday nights and bringing in solid ratings, though they've dipped some since last fall.

Chicago Fire has been in reruns since earlier this month, but the Wednesday night series will return with new episodes on May 1. It's finale is set to air May 22, and fans can expect to see the drama back for Season 2.

As for Grimm, its renewal isn't particularly surprising, considering NBC just moved the series from Fridays to Tuesdays. Whether or not that schedule change - which was made following the cancellation of Ready for Love - proves to be permanent remains to be seen, but at the very least, the supernatural procedural will be back for Season 3.

Finally, Law & Order: SVU will be back for Season 15.

For the colder states, March can feel like an eternity, as winter drags on and we look forward to spring. Winter is here, but it's also coming, in the more figurative, fantastical sense. Game of Thrones returns for its third season in March. But the HBO fantasy-drama is just one of the ten TV highlights worth looking forward to as March gets underway. There's also Celebrity Apprentice, basketball, The Voice and a couple of anticipated season finales, among some other reasons to set your DVR.

All-Star Celebrity Apprentice

All star seasons tend to be hit or miss, depending on the series and the all stars, but the roster for All-Star Celebrity Apprentice is brimming with potential for drama. Two words: Gary Busey! Busey alone is reason enough to tune in to NBC on Sunday, March 3, if only to see what the unpredictable star gets up to next. But then factor in some of the other names on the list, which include Penn Jillette, Bret Michaels, Omarosa, Lisa Rinna and La Toya Jackson and it's anyone's game. Adding to the star power among the contestants are this season's "hosts and advisors," which include Arsenio Hall, Joan Rivers, Piers Morgan and John Rich. That's in addition to Donald Trump and his people (Don, Ivanka and Eric Trump, as well as George Ross).

The fact that these celebrities have played this game before is just part of what makes this "all star" season so exciting. How will their past experiences with the show and the aftermath of playing affect how they play this time around? We'll find out. Beyond that, Celebrity Apprentice is returning! That in itself is something to look forward to as we anticipate a group of celebrities teamed up and attempting to tackle whatever business-related challenges Donald Trump drops in front of them. Anything can happen.

Grimm has been on a mid-season hiatus since mid-November. At long last, NBC is bringing the excellent fantasy-drama back with its first new episode of what's left of the second season. What's next for Juliette and Renard? And how will Nick deal with the situation? We'll find out when "The Face Off" airs on NBC Friday, March 8.

March Madness

The most satisfying and thrilling of the many annual sporting events, (save the Stanley Cup Finals, of course), is the collegiate basketball tournament affectionately known as March Madness. There really is no better time in sport than the few weeks in March when the best basketball teams in the National Collegiate Athletic Association play it out to decide which one will be declared the best. The 2013 Madness starts on Tuesday, March 19 and concludes with the National Championship on Monday, April 8, with as many of the intense games as possible broadcast on Turner Sports, meaning CBS, TBS, TNT and truTV. And International viewers may luck out by not only getting those networks but also our own affiliates meaning even more coverage of the three week long event.

You really don't want to miss a single moment of the action taking place all across the US because, unlike their pro counterparts, these kids are playing for nothing but pride and a chance to be the last team standing after the 64 team tournament. And even if you’re not particularly invested in the world of sports, the always compelling event also provides a great opportunity to engage in some good natured gambling. Money may be involved but what's really at stake are bragging rights. Shame or glory that you keep until next March. The dates and venues have been set but the bracket's still up in the air, so be sure check with the NCAA March Madness site in the coming weeks for all the information. Who will cut the most important net this year? Go Wildcats! Figure that one out.

The second season of HBO's Girls has been in a bit of a slump these past few week's but Lena Dunham's series got off to such a great start this year that the finale in just a few weeks time is still a pretty major March television event. "Together," the last episode of the sometimes sensational, sometimes so-so season airs mid-month, on Sunday, March 17 and was co-written by Dunham and Judd Apatow. Even though there are only two installments before the big finale, it's still unclear where the story and characters will end up and who isn't keen to find out? One of the most intriguing new shows of the season, Bates Motel, is set to make its debut on March 18 is A&E's contemporary Psycho prequel from LOST's Carlton Cuse and Friday Night Lights's Kerry Ehrin. Bates Motel skipped the pilot stage, going straight to a ten episode first season order, because of the kind of confidence afforded a show with such a prestigious predecessor like Hitchcock's film, not to mention the fantastic ensemble assembled to play the now iconic parts, Vera Farmiga as Norma Bates and Freddie Highmore as Norman. Don't you want to see what makes us all go a little mad sometimes?

Celebrities make a Splash

I’m not normally the world’s biggest fan of watching celebrities compete in strange reality competitions. In fact, I didn’t even watch the diving special that ran a few months back, but thanks to one widely reported moment, I can’t wait for ABC’s Splash to premiere on Tuesday, March 19. Apparently, former Family Feud host and popular comedian Louie Anderson almost died and had to be saved by Detroit Lions linebacker Ndamukong Suh during one of the practices, and I have to know what the hell happened.

If nothing else, one of the appeals of competition shows is the curveballs life sometimes throws. From Snooki getting punched in the head to Sue Hawk absolutely going off during the finale of Survivor’s inaugural season, the real world is sometimes crazier than anything a writer could come up with. And that, in a swimsuit, is why I’m excited to watch Splash. I need to know exactly what happened. I need to know if the media blew the situation out of proportion or if he legitimately almost died. I need to know exactly what went wrong, and if ABC decides to push it in the promos, I think a lot of people will be with me.

The Voice returns!

For the past three seasons, The Voice has been NBC’s ratings darling, bringing in viewers across different age demographics. However, this season the series faces its first big challenge: veteran judges Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green have left the show for at least a season and have been replaced by Usher and Shakira. I cannot wait to see how the new judges will adjust to their swiveling red chairs, as well as see how the power dynamics between the four judges is or isn’t thrown off balance thanks to the two newbies.

Returning judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton have emerged over the first three seasons as the most skilled and competent of the group, with one or the other winning each season. In theory, against two new judges who maybe won’t be as aware of what to look for, the two men should continue to dominate, but in practice, some new perspectives might bring some much-needed balance to the show. We’ll see how everything plays out when The Voice premieres on March 25 at 8 p.m. ET.

Also…

Revolution ended the first portion of its season on a good note in the ratings, but also at a high point in the series. We’ve spent some time waiting to see what might happen when the Matheson clan fully unites and it looks like that will be happening when NBC’s hit drama returns to the schedule on March 25 at 10 p.m. ET.

Being Human's final episode of Season 3 is "If I Only Had a Raw Brain." It's a little too soon to tell, but previews for the next new episode suggests a potential zombie twist for Sally, which might be an advance clue to the finale's title. Either way, it's probably not a stretch to predict big things for the Season 3 finale when it airs later in the month. If Season 2's closer put Josh and Sally back to human, will Season 3 turn them back into a werewolf and ghost respectively? We'll find out March 25 when the finale airs on Syfy.

Game of Thrones premiere…

They say March goes in like a lion and out like a lamb, but not this year. On March 31 at 9 p.m. EST, HBO brings back Game of Thrones, which makes us want winter to stick around a bit longer so we can stay inside and watch. We’ve been promised the biggest season yet, with longer episodes and filming locations in five different countries that allows the drama to play out on an enormous scale.

The Season 3 trailer already makes good on some of the promises. Winter is coming fast, as we saw in the Season 2 finale as an army of the dead marched through the north. The war-torn Seven Kingdoms face another claimant to the throne as Danaerys and her quickly-growing dragons cross the water. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The upcoming premiere of Game of Thrones may come on the last day of March, but it will ensure that this month goes out like a Lannister lion.

And just in case GoT isn’t enough to look forward to on the last day of March, PBS is stepping up as well. First at 8 p.m., the highly-anticipated return of Call the Midwife, one of our best new shows of 2012 premieres.

Right after that, filling the 9 p.m. slot left by Downton Abbey in PBS Sunday night lineup, we’ll get to see the Jeremy Piven-starring new drama Mr. Selfridge. The story of an American department store owner who changes the face of shopping; we’re hearing good things and can’t wait to check it out.

Grimm will be back - at long last - in less than a month. We have the supernatural/fantasy drama series' return to look forward to, and now we can add a recurring appearance by Shohreh Aghdashloo to the list. 24 fans will likely recognize her for her villainous role as Dina Araz, mother of the reluctant teen-terrorist-in-training Behrooz on Day 4 of the series. Aghdashloo was a powerful woman in 24, and it sounds like she's powerful (in a different way) in Grimm as well.

TVLine Aghdashloo is set to play the recurring role of Stefania Vaduva Popescu, "a powerful ally sought out by Claire Coffee’s Adalind. Stefania is referred to as the 'Zigeunersprache,' or Queen of the Schwarzwald Gypsies, and her family’s roots run deep in the woods of Austria" We'll see her first appearance in the NBC series at some point in April. HEr associations with Adalind suggest she might not be the friendly sort, but we'll have to wait and see how she fits into the story.

In addition to 24, Aghdashloo's TV credits include EW, NCIS, House M.D., and The Mob Doctor. She also played the female doctor who got porcupine-hugged to death by that mutant in X-Men: The Last Stand. But I always associate her best with her roll as the beautiful but intimidating Dina Araz in 24, and with her voice, that has a deep, soothing sort of tone to it ("Behrooooz"). It'll be great to see what she's up to in Grimm (it's definitely not difficult to imagine her in a Queen role of some sort), which is set to return to NBC for the rest of its second season on Friday, March 8 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Great stories are a part of mankind's history, and there are many that have stood the test of time, being passed from generation to generation for centuries. Among them are the fairy tales shared by the Brothers Grimm. Today, Google has acknowledged the 200th anniversary of the Grimm's Fairy Tales, with an excellent interactive Doodle that tells the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

Published in 1812, the first volume of Grimm's Fairy Tales contained 86 stories based on German fairy tales. Among them is "Little Red Cap," or "Rotkappchen," which tells the story of a little girl who encounters a wolf when she pays a visit to her grandmother. That's the story Google has chosen to use for their acknowledgement of the two-century anniversary of the publication. It's artistic and distinctly Google, while also paying homage to the classic story and the work of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm did, which continues to be celebrated centuries later.

NBC's Grimm is one of those series that has a bit of Halloween spirit built into every episode, but even this supernatural series needs to acknowledged the annual spooky-themed holiday. NBC has a double-dose of Halloween goodness lined up for viewers this Friday night, with the Mockingbird Lane pilot lined up to air at 8:00 p.m., followed by a brand new episode of Grimm. "Back in the good old days…"

That may cause Nick to raise an eyebrow. Something tells me their ideas of "the good old days" would differ. But Monroe seems to have less violent ideas in mind for this Halloween. Check out his costume in this photo below.

And for something more along the lines of the episodes monster-of-the-week, this one gives us a look at Angela Alvarado Rosa as "The Woman" or "La Llorona," a ghost of a woman who drowned herself and her children and now haunts the living.

In addition to confirming their plans to air the pilot episode the Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane, NBC has also released information about a special episode of Grimm set to air the same night, which will also be broadcast that night on Telemundo and Mun2.

NBC made the announcement today that Grimm will join with Telemundo, mun2 and Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights" in what they're calling a "cross-divisional event." Grimm's "La Llorana" episode will air Friday, October 26 (and technically 10/27). It'll air in its usually 9:00 p.m. time slot at NBC, and then the Spanish broadcast will air on Telemundo at 12:00 a.m. ET Friday night. It will also air in English on mun2 at 1:00 a.m. ET on Friday night.

Grimm regularly features various storybook baddies and mythical monsters in some form or another, as the lead character Nick Burkhardt explores his destiny as a Grimm, a person called to protect the human race against these disguised threats. "La Llorona" refers to a piece of Latin American folklore about "The Weeping Woman," the ghost of a distraught mother who drowned her children and herself and is now doomed to haunt and terrorize the living. The October 26th episode will have Nick and his detective partner Hank tracking down La Lliorona after she abducts some of Portland's kids on Halloween.

Kate del Castillo (Telemundo's miniseries La Reina del Sur) is set to guest-star as Valentina Espinosa, "a mysterious detective from New Mexico on an obsessive mission to uncover the truth behind the bizarre disappearances and joins forces with Burkhardt and Griffin to intervene before it’s too late." So it sounds like Nick and Hank will have some help on this one. Unless the "mysterious" part is a hint that there's something dangerous about her.

On a related note, as we mentioned earlier, NBC's also set to air the Mockingbird Lane pilot, which could be an indication that the rumors that the network is passing on the costly Munsters reboot. More information on that here.
