Not long after we learned who received 2026 Emmy nominations, the amazing reactions from those recognized began. Specifically, the Shrinking cast was texting each other, and in celebration of the show’s recognition, Michael Urie posted said messages online. I have to say that the text Harrison Ford sent him about this big moment is my favorite.

Before we dive into the texts, you need some context first. These nominations for both Michael Urie and Harrison Ford mark the second year in a row they’ve been recognized by the Television Academy for their work on Shrinking. So, in celebration of their Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy noms, Urie sent Ford:

In response, Harrison Ford replied:

Well, this is just the sweetest and silliest thing ever. It’s also upholding a tradition, seeing as last year, Ford and Urie exchanged texts that looked very similar, with the Paul actor writing “duuuuuude…./u 2?!” in response to the Brian actor’s “DUUUUUDE.” I love that they did this again, and I also will always find Harrison Ford using “u” instead of “you” and the word “dude” very funny.

On a more serious note, these nods are very deserving. Ford got his first Emmy nomination for Season 2 of Shrinking, and so did Urie. Their work in Season 3 (which aired on the 2026 TV schedule and can be streamed with an Apple TV subscription) is worthy of awards too. So, I’m thrilled they got deserved nominations.

Now, I’ll be curious to see if either of them wins. Ford and Urie were nominated alongside The Four Seasons’ Colman Domingo, Hacks’ Paul W. Downs, Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ Nick Offerman, Widow’s Bay’s Stephen Root and Abbott Elementary’s Tyler James Williams. So, the competition is stacked. However, I have faith that one of these Shrinking stars could take home the gold.

Alongside Ford and Urie, Shrinking received two other big acting nominations – one for Jason Segel in Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy and the other for Jessica Williams in Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy. The show was also nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. So, in celebration of all that news, the Brian actor posted a bunch of texts he got from his co-stars:

Overall, Shrinking got ten Emmy nominations. There are the five we already talked about, plus nods for Michael J. Fox and Brett Goldstein in Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, as well as nominations for Casting for a Comedy Series, Sound Mixing for a Comedy Series and Short Form Nonfiction Reality Series: “Shrinking - In It Together”.

So, I’d say the celebratory texts were more than warranted, and I hope they continue to celebrate while working on Season 4 (which is currently in production).

One celebrity you can always count on for a good quip is Harrison Ford. However, the conversation delightfully pivoted when the host asked the actor to pick his favorite movie from his own filmography, leading the Indiana Jones actor to share an A+ quip:

Well, I'd expect nothing less or more from Harrison Ford. The interview started strong as he told the audience to “knock it off” when they were cheering. It only got better when his favorite movie came up following a few compliments by Kimmel about his award, which was presented by Woody Harrelson at the Actors' Awards.

This conversation about his lifetime achievement award led to more talk about the movies Ford has been in. In fact, Kimmel asked him what it was like to see a montage of his career on a big screen. In response, the 1923 actor dropped another great take, saying:

The interview focused on his achievements, which include his time on one of Apple TV's best shows, Shrinking, and being honored for his extensive filmography. However, Ford doesn't enjoy being in the limelight, stating he didn’t run his acceptance speech by anyone, not even his wife, Calista Flockhart. He “just wanted it to be over.”

So, clearly, Ford does not want to take a deep look back, and he definitely does not want to pick a favorite project. However, that won't stop me from talking about one of his most recent great works, which believe it or not, isn't a big-screen venture.

The beloved actor can currently be seen sharing the screen with Jason Segel on Shrinking (which is returning for Season 4). One thing Ford said he enjoys about being on a TV show is that he never knows what to expect, especially with his character having Parkinson’s Disease. Season 3 explored this further with Michael J. Fox playing a significant role alongside Ford. This is a storyline that has become dear to Ford, and he has nothing but lovely things to say about it.

Overall, when it comes to Shrinking (which you can stream with an Apple TV subscription), he's been praised for the humor and heart he brings to his character Paul, and there's 100% a reason he got an Emmy nomination for it.

Work like this is why the actor has been honored with a lifetime achievement award, and why people ask him which of his own movies and shows are his favorite. However, while fans might have strong opinions about that topic, don't expect Harrison Ford to.

Few celebrations of Steven Spielberg's career are complete without bringing up the Indiana Jones franchise, as the initial trilogy of action-adventure classics have inspired generations. Everyone has a favorite film, and moments they either love or dislike, including the actors who starred in the movies. Harrison Ford recently dished about the Indiana Jones scene that Sean Connery not only disliked, but that made him a ‘little grumpy.’

When Ford sat down to discuss Spielberg’s works with Vulture, the topic obviously came around to all of the Indiana Jones movies. Connery played Ford's father in the third film, The Last Crusade, so when that movie came up, the actor happily shared some BTS scoop, saying:

This world has remained popular, with an additional two films, such as the nostalgic Dial of Destiny. But it all started when Spielberg told his good friend George Lucas about his dream project: a James Bond film with Sean Connery. The iconic actor passed away in 2020, and was well-known for his portrayal of Bond, James Bond.

While Lucas couldn’t make that particular dream come true, he did have an idea for an archeologist that was set in the 1930s. Initially, the studio didn’t want to deal with Spielberg who had a reputation for going over budget. But they relented, and it was right choice. I couldn’t imagine the franchise having gone into anyone else’s hands. He directed the first four films in the franchise, each of which can be watched can be watched with a Disney+ subscription.

And Spielberg did - sort of - live out his dream with the third film, The Last Crusade. The father-son relationship was created after screenwriter Menno Meyjes pitched the idea of the holy grail to Lucas. The scribe shared:

No conversation about Indiana Jones can happen without bringing up The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which received mixed feelings from critics and fans. Several weren’t sure about the concept of Indie with ‘aliens.’ Though the film had a dimension bent on this that was a little different. However, many still enjoyed it and have defended the film, saying there aren’t any bad Indiana Jones films.

Even Ford reportedly struggled during The Last Crusade, as he and Spielberg weren’t fully on board with doing another sci-fi movie. However, without the fourth, fans wouldn’t have gotten a fifth, which gave Ford the ending he wanted. He didn’t want Crystal Skull to be the last of Indie’s adventures.

While the marketing of the fifth presented as the ending, we also thought Indiana Jones was going to be a trilogy. If the franchise ever did return, I'd immediately sign up if Ke Huy Quan were to return. The actor has recently gone full Short Round by taking the 'character' to the Disneyland ride.

This gave us a minor taste of what Indiana Jones would be like if we saw Indie’s former protege putting on his hat. And I am fully obsessed with the idea. But is there any real chance we'll see the franchise return?

Disclosure Day’s box office debut last weekend started Steven Spielberg's latest on a winning note, but it has since become one of the more polarizing releases to be on the 2026 movie schedule. It feels like those who went to see it either were getting chills over its third act or asking themselves if anything actually happened in the movie. While I fall in the camp of someone who really enjoyed it, I want to talk about why it made me think about Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull lately.

The 2008 sequel is famously criticized for not being as good as the other movies in the franchise, but honestly, I don’t think it’s as bad as everyone thinks it is – it’s just not as great as the original trilogy. Anyways, the ending of Disclosure Day particularly has me thinking about Indiana Jones 4. Let’s get into it.

Remember The Alien Scene In Indiana Jones 4?

While Spielberg, Harrison Ford and screenwriter David Koepp reportedly were never fully on board with aliens being in the movie, Indiana Jones 4 very much has them like Disclosure Day. Aside from them both being directed by Spielberg from a script by Koepp, and involving aliens, there's more to it.

At their bare bones, the two films revolve around a piece of alien evidence that one group has and another group very much would like to have instead. In Indiana Jones 4, it’s Indy vs. the Soviets led by a particularly goofy Cate Blanchett performance. But what you may not remember is that the Crystal Skull involves a telepathic element that leads the humans of the story to connect with the aliens in the story. Sounding familiar yet?

Ultimately, both groups end up at a temple where they return the Crystal Skull to a skeleton inside, triggering aliens from another dimension to appear. The extraterrestrial ends up transferring way too much knowledge to Blanchett’s Soviet agent character, effectively overloading her brain and killing her. Indy and his crew quickly escape the temple, and a flying saucer rises from the ruins and returns to the otherworldly place they came from.

Disclosure Day's Finale Reminds Me Of It, But Better

This brings me to Disclosure Day. Both movies play with the idea of aliens, but whereas Indiana Jones 4 does so with a more basic “good vs. evil” plotline about tech from another world potentially falling into the wrong hands, Spielberg's new movie is weighing something else. What if our present-day world had definite proof of the existence of aliens and the world got to discover it together? Both movies only really take us to the discovery stage of extraterrestrial life, and stop there. But where I felt empty with Indiana Jones, I felt fed with Disclosure Day.

There's an added thought-provoking element that had me imagining how our world would change should everyone at the same time get the kind of moment usually only reserved for larger-than-life heroes like Indiana Jones. It had me thinking about humanity and the ways in which we have the great power to both come together and tear things apart. I didn’t need more from Disclosure Day, because it gave me enough to ponder about ourselves, whereas I feel like in The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull I would have been a lot more satisfied if Indy got to talk to an alien for a bit, ya know?

Ultimately, it feels like the same filmmakers unintentionally played with a very similar concept, just 18 years apart, and found a way to ultimately explore it better through Disclosure Day. As someone who liked Spielberg's latest movie, I'm more grateful for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull now that I've made these connections.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has always been the weird artifact in the Indy franchise museum. It was not a critical disaster when it opened in 2008, and it made real money. But for a lot of fans, the movie became the entry point they cite when they talk about the franchise losing the magic that made Raiders of the Lost Ark, and its wonderful sequels, Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade, feel so alive. And, according to a new oral history, Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg were never fully on board with the planned project.

Ahead of his 2026 movie release, Disclosure Day, Vulture dropped a massive oral history of Steven Spielberg’s career that adds useful context for why the fourth Indy movie may have felt so uneasy. The short version: according to Kathleen Kennedy, neither the director nor the star was fully sold on the direction George Lucas wanted to take the story, even while the movie was being made.

The Fourth Indiana Jones Movie Had A Sci-Fi Problem From The Start

The first three Indiana Jones movies were supernatural, but they were not really science fiction. The Ark of the Covenant, the Sankara stones and the Holy Grail all fit the franchise’s dusty adventure-serial DNA. Crystal Skull moved Indy into the 1950s, which meant Lucas wanted to pull from flying saucer paranoia and War of the Worlds-style sci-fi.

That is where the creative fight apparently began. Kennedy said Crystal Skull was especially difficult for cinematographer Janusz Kamiński, but the bigger issue was that Ford and Spielberg did not want Indy’s return to involve aliens, despite the director's clear fascination with them. As she put it:

Lucas remembered the disagreement similarly. He argued:

Calling it a compromise is sort of hilarious when you think about how the movie turned out, because for all intents and purposes, even in their design and how they function, the creatures are obviously aliens. But the compromise may explain why the movie has always felt as if it were arguing with itself.

Harrison Ford Has Defended Crystal Skull Before

The Blade Runner actor has not spent the years since trashing the movie. He even fired back at critics of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ahead of Dial of Destiny, pushing back against detractors he felt were applying their own rules to what the movie should have been.

The franchise’s leading man acknowledged that Crystal Skull was not as successful as everyone had hoped, and sure, the movie was divisive. However, critics did not universally pan it; it even holds a 77% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Still, even Ford’s defense reads differently in light of Kennedy’s comments. Kennedy also connected that creative unease to Ford’s return for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. She said:

That tracks with how Dial of Destiny was sold, as a final emotional chapter for Indy rather than just another franchise lap. Whether Dial of Destiny fully worked is its own debate, and fans still have plenty to say about the de-aged Indiana opening sequence and how it ended Indiana Jones’ story. But Kennedy’s comments make Ford’s return feel less like a victory lap and more like unfinished business.

George Lucas Has No Hard Feelings

Lucas, for his part, seemed amused by how the whole thing landed. He said:

The funniest part is that both the Oscar-nominated actor and Oscar-winning filmmaker later circled back to sci-fi anyway. Spielberg continued exploring aliens and futuristic worlds, and Ford eventually returned to sci-fi through projects such as Cowboys and Aliens and Blade Runner 2049. Fans can revisit the Indy films with a Paramount+ subscription and also see him in another late-career franchise role in 1923.

That is the strange legacy of Crystal Skull. It was not just that fans resisted the aliens. According to people close to the production, Ford and the E.T. director were uneasy about them, too. For a franchise built on impossible escapes, that may be the one trap even Indiana Jones could not quite outrun.

As for Spielberg, he has once again returned to the world of aliens. His latest film, Disclosure Day, stars Emily Blunt, Colin Firth and Colman Domingo and explores the mass panic and global stakes that follow the ultimate proof of extraterrestrial life. The film landed in theaters today, June 12.

From Twihards to Trekkies, fandoms have been vocal about what they love and what they hate. So it’s not surprising to see them openly spill the tea on what actors they feel actually hate their own fandoms. Some of the celebrities named are more surprising than others, with fans dropping everyone from Sherlock’s Martin Freeman to Robert Pattinson. But do these actors really dislike their own fandoms?

Some of the actors mentioned have been vocal in the past about certain things they don’t love about their fandoms, such as William Shatner, who has allegedly made comments about Star Trek in the past. Though this hasn’t stopped fans from calling for him to run the franchise. Some feel these actors make valid points. However, others feel there’s no excuse for the hate they get from celebrities. Several on a popular Reddit thread have been blunt with their opinions, with posts reading:

• Princescyther: Martin Freeman. Specifically, Sherlock fans lol. He seems like a grumpy old bugger, too, so it makes sense.
• whimsy_moth: Joseph Quinn. In the early days after his career took a turn after Stranger Things, he was deluged with parasocial fans.
• ButIfYouThink: William Shatner - He has, on multiple occasions and for decades, derided Trekkies. He doesn't like doing the convention circuit, and fought against the image that he is just known for Captain Kirk for many, many years.
• She_Says_Tapir: Bill Nye the Science Guy. He is really fun and friendly if you just talk to him like a normal guy and pretend not to recognize him. But if you get all excited and fan girl out, he is super gruff and kind of a mean old man vibes.
• Puzzled_End8664: Star Wars fans can be pretty rabid. That being said, [George Lucas] seems like he doesn't think anyone should question his artistic vision of Star Wars.

Some of these fans are defending the actors’ reasons for not liking their fandoms, claiming it’s the constant limelight that they hate, not necessarily the people themselves. Dramatic_Movies says, “A lot of celebrities seem overwhelmed more than anything. Constant attention, constant expectations.” This is an understandable argument, as we have seen many, particularly young actors, crushed by the pressure of stardom.

BualadhBoss brings up Martin Freeman, who they claim blames nearly losing his role as Bilbo in The Hobbit on Sherlock fans. Reportedly, Peter Jackson wanted him badly enough that he was willing to work around the actor’s filming schedule.

Others don’t seem bothered when actors are gruff towards fans. In fact, some seem amused by it, such as RickySuezo, who says, “Harrison Ford hates everybody.” Many point out Ford’s viral Star Wars comments, where he often seems tired of the franchise. Another, Decent-Dragonfly6460, came to the defense of Ford, saying it’s his sour demeanor that everybody loves:

Then there are more serious allegations. For in stance, user Kneecap_Blaster claims Bill Nye made a 6th grade girl cry. They allegedly went with their sister’s class to hear him speak, and that, “Bill phoned it in in front of thousands of kids who idolized him, and made a child cry that day, he's a POS in my book.” The science guy hasn’t been in much since cutting ties with Disney, but he has made minor appearances, such as in an episode of High Potential.

Others are arguing that it’s just certain fandoms' celebrities don’t like, and not all of them. One example given is Robert Pattinson, who mixi_e says, “For me, [he] just didn’t like the Twilight side of his fandom, even when he was promoting the movies, you could see how much he disliked them.” The actor has been open about his feelings toward Twilight, but he’s also happily promoted other projects, such as dishing upcoming The Batman Part II night shoots he has. He has also recently revealed what he asked Christopher Nolan about The Odyssey.

For fans of these actors, many of them can be seen in upcoming 2026 movie releases, such as The Odyssey, set for this summer. We'll have to see how many more names get added to this reddit thread.

When it comes to certain iconic movie characters, it’s hard to imagine any other actor in that role. Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, Robin Williams as the Genie, and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark are some examples that come to mind. Of course, one of the most universally agreed on is Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, but a key fact is that Tom Selleck had the part before Ford was even a consideration. Raiders of the Lost Ark director Steven Spielberg recently explained why Selleck had to drop one of the biggest movies of the ‘80s, and how they eventually landed on Ford.

Spielberg’s latest film, Disclosure Day, may be premiering this month as part of the 2026 movie schedule, but he recently threw it back to the early movies of his career in a conversation with Michelle Obama and her brother, Craig Robinson, for their podcast, IMO. Obama asked the Jurassic Park director about his biggest casting karma (or the actors that got away). Harrison Ford has jokingly in the past thanked Selleck for dropping out of Indiana Jones, but Spielberg revealed that wasn’t exactly what happened:

Spielberg told his hosts how good Selleck’s screen test was, so it doesn’t surprise me that the Blue Bloods actor had two era-defining projects fighting over him. Selleck previously discussed his frustration and disappointment in being forced out of Indiana Jones, even though Magnum P.I. ended up being huge for his career.

I mean, speaking of perfect casting, can you imagine any other mustached man wearing that iconic Hawaiian shirt? The Saving Private Ryan director revealed he would have had Selleck shave the iconic stache to play the legendary whip-cracking archaeologist.

Regardless, Selleck’s CBS contract left George Lucas, who created Indiana Jones, and Spielberg back at square one, but it decidedly was the perfect twist of fate. Around the same time, The Fablemans director went to a private pre-screening of The Empire Strikes Back, where he apparently found the man fated to wear the iconic fedora. As Spielberg recalled:

It’s the age-old question when it comes to Harrison Ford’s iconic roles: who’s better, Han Solo or Indiana Jones? I’m sure Lucas was considering the chances of Indiana Jones stealing away his fan-favorite Star Wars renegade but, eventually, he must have decided Ford could handle both franchises, and thank God he did. Spielberg said with Lucas’ blessing, it was pretty much a done deal:

Ford reflected on getting that call from Lucas, with a little more urgency than Spielberg let on. The Blade Runner actor said Lucas called him to let him know he was sending a script over, and asked Ford to read it in an hour. Presumably, based on Spielberg's comments, Lucas called the Spielberg the same day, telling him Ford was accepting the role as Indy.

It almost sounds like Lucas made the decision for the Air Force One actor but, if George Lucas told me to take a movie role, he wouldn’t need to say it twice. In hindsight, it was probably the second best decision Ford ever made, after agreeing to play Han Solo, and the Patriot Games actor has credited Lucas for his early career before.

To be clear, I wholeheartedly trust Steven Spielberg and have no doubt Tom Selleck would have made a great whip-slinging, Nazi-fighting adventurer. However, it wouldn’t be the Indy we’ve come to know and love. Harrison Ford brought a certain scrappy charm to the character, a quality he showed in Han Solo and carried over throughout the entire Indiana Jones franchise. On that note, can relive all Indy’s best adventures with a Disney+ subscription.

Considering it's one of the best shows streaming on Apple TV, it's no surprise to me that Shrinking will be back for a fourth season. However, while the series was renewed for Season 4 as the last season was airing on the 2026 TV schedule, Season 3’s finale felt like a conclusion. So, some were left wondering if characters, like Harrison Ford's Paul, would be back. So, someone asked the actor if he thought about leaving after the latest season ended.

Ford has played therapist Dr. Paul Rhodes since the first season, and he was even nominated for his first Primetime Emmy Award last year for it. However, considering Season 3 saw Paul giving his practice to Gaby, retiring, and moving to Connecticut, on top of dealing with his Parkinson's diagnosis, fans have been worried about what this means for the character moving forward. Luckily, Ford gave an update during a comedy actors roundtable interview with THR. He was asked if he ever flirted with the idea of departing Shrinking at the end of Season 3, and he gave a pretty straight answer:

So fans will be seeing a lot more of Paul in Season 4 and possibly in future seasons, depending on how long Shrinking lasts. However, when it comes to what we'll be seeing from this character, Ford has no idea. That’s what makes working on the show fun, though, especially since he knows the writers will do Paul justice.

Ford is not the only one wondering where Shrinking will go in Season 4. As previously mentioned, the Season 3 finale set the characters on new paths, with Paul and Alice specifically moving across the country.

The show always had a three-season arc planned, so the fourth season renewal was a pleasant surprise. It’s been confirmed that the entire gang will be back, and co-creator Bill Lawrence previously revealed that Season 4 will have a whole new story, so it should be interesting to see where it leads.

As of now, details surrounding the story for Season 4 have not been released. However, we do know that everyone will be back. He got advice from Tom Cruise during Top Gun: Maverick about how envisioning himself as the “underdog” of a story can bring out a memorable performance. The Twisters actor also received helpful advice from Denzel Washington about not comparing himself to other actors.

Even Matthew McConaughey gave him guidance to move back to Texas to be with his family and not be stuck in the “fake world” of Hollywood. With each piece of advice given to him, it’s no wonder Powell has been continuing to take the entertainment industry by storm.

Years ago, Ford appeared in 1966’s Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round, a James Coburn-led film in which he played a bellhop. Ford recently reflected on that experience during his appearance on Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson’s Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast. As the humorously dry Ford recalled, his part was relatively straightforward. The Oscar nominee laid it out as follows:

So Ford’s film career started not on a bombastic note but on a far more subtle one. Based on the comments the Air Force one actor shared in the YouTube video, he thought he’d performed his role effectively. However, it turned out one of the newly installed bigwigs at the studio was far from impressed. Ford went on to detail the heated meeting he had with said exec, the late Jerry Tokofsky, and it wasn’t exactly friendly:

Whew, Tokofsky really didn’t hold back his assessment of the then-young actor. Also, to be fair, it’s somewhat unfair to compare any up-and-coming actor to a young Tony Curtis. Something that most impresses me about the exchange between Tokofsky and Ford is how, even then, the latter didn’t mind getting sarcastic. And that tracks, given Ford is now known for being blunt or calling out people (mostly in light-hearted ways) during interviews and events. All in all, I’d say this anecdote deserves a spot in any biography about Ford.

Considering the trajectory of Ford’s career, it’s hard not to laugh about the irony of him being told he wouldn’t make it as a working actor. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m incredibly thankful that Ford made it and starred in beloved movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Blade Runner, Working Girl, The Fugitive, Witness (which is one of his best movies) and more. Apparently, even Tokofsky had to eat a slice of humble pie, based on a cool moment Ford had in Paramount’s cafeteria years later:

I don’t think a writer could script a better moment than that. Kudos to Tukofsky, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 95, for admitting he was wrong. Of course, today, Harrison Ford is more than an award-winning actor who chops it up with fellow action stars and shares blunt thoughts on Indiana Jones, Marvel and more. He’s also an esteemed mentor to co-stars, and he serves as a champion for movie theaters. I’d say that’s not bad for someone who was told early on that they had no chance of succeeding in show business.

Many of the best video game movies have come in recent years, including Simon McQuoid's Mortal Kombat. That movie (which is streaming with an HBO Max subscription) finally gave the beloved franchise an R-rated movie adaptation, complete with gnarly fatalities. Its sequel will introduce Karl Urban's Johnny Cage, and the actor spoke to CinemaBlend about bringing his character's campy fake movie to life for the impending blockbuster.

What we know about Mortal Kombat II has been limited, but McQuoid is back behind the camera and bringing in more beloved fighters from the games. Case in point: Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, and as you can see in the video above, I had the chance to speak with him ahead of the film's release. I asked about filming a faux movie that used to introduce Johnny, and he told me:

Honestly, I see it. In the clip from Uncaged Fury, we go from the R-rated Mortal Kombat world to a hilariously campy fake movie starring Urban's character. He took inspiration from Leonardo DiCaprio in Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, where we got to see his character Rick Dalton in some movies within the movie. The tone got to briefly change, and Urban absolutely chewed the scenery throughout this sequence in Mortal Kombat II.

But Leo wasn't the only person that the Star Trek actor took inspiration from for Uncaged Fury. In fact, he stole a move from Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones. As he told me:

Ridiculously hilarious, maybe. While the majority of Mortal Kombat is full of thrilling action and gory fatalities, Johnny Cage's fake movie provided some camp and comedy to the proceedings. You can see a clip from that sequence below:

Johnny Cage is a comedic presence throughout the Mortal Kombat video games, and this faux movie scene is a great nod to this history. And even outside of Uncaged Fury, Urban brought plenty of zingers to life in the sequel film. Luckily, the wait is nearly over for both casual and hardcore MK fans.

Mortal Kombat II will hit theaters on May 8th as part of the 2026 movie release list. Karl Urban crushed it bringing Johnny Cage to life, including his signature nutcracker punch from the games.

There is a popular theory surrounding Raiders of the Lost Ark that began with an episode of The Big Bang Theory, an episode called "The Raiders Minimization," which you can watch with an HBO Max subscription. It postulates that Indiana Jones and his actions are completely irrelevant to the final outcome of the movie. Basically, that despite all that Indy does in the movie, none of it matters because in the end, Belloq and the Nazis would have found the Ark, opened it, and had their faces melted off whether Indy was with them or not.

It’s a sound theory, but I disagree with it. In fact, it’s worse. What if Indiana Jones unwittingly helped World War II happen? Here’s why I think he could have.

Indy Pushed The Villains So Hard That They Opened The Ark Too Soon

As is made clear in the movie, there are Nazis all over the world looking for ancient artifacts, most notably the Ark of the Covenant, which Hitler believes will make the Germans unstoppable on the battlefield. Everyone knows the story of the best Indiana Jones movie, so I won’t bore you with a full recap, but the important part is that the Germans (and Belloq) have competition. Belloq is, of course, taking the chase very personally. He has a professional and personal rivalry with Indy and, as Indy points out, the Frenchman is in the chase for glory and power.

The Nazis that Belloq is working with have a very clear mission: to bring the Ark back to their leader. Their goal throughout the movie is to get the artifact and return to Berlin with it. This turns out to be at odds with Belloq, and that comes to a head when Belloq, who I think we can safely say was driven in large part by his rivalry with Indy, opens the Ark in the desert, before getting it back to Germany. The Nazis don’t want to do this, but they go along for the time being, and as a reward, they get their faces melted off.

What If Belloq Wasn’t So Rash After His Back And Forth With Indy?

This brings us back to the original theory from The Big Bang Theory. The rebuttal to the theory is that at multiple points along the way, Indy is crucial in driving the search (and the plot) forward, including actually finding the Ark himself, before Belloq et al. steal it from him while he's stuck in the Well of Souls. Sure, they might have found it without Indy’s discovery of the Staff of Ra and all that, but every time Indy beats Belloq, it makes him angrier. So, what if Indy hadn’t been there and the Nazis had found it, but returned to Berlin before opening it?

There is an argument to make that Indy’s presence was indeed crucial to the plot of the movie, but was also unwittingly pushing Belloq to the brink, forcing his rival to make a rash decision and open the Ark before it could be done in the presence of The Führer. Had things gone differently, maybe Hitler’s face would have been melted off, and World War II would never have happened.

Either way, Indiana Jones was crucial to the plot of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Just use your Disney+ subscription to watch it if you don't believe me.

One of the biggest conversations in entertainment over the last few years has been the future of the theatrical experience. While big blockbuster movies are still seeing billions of dollars in box office success, theatrical distribution more broadly has taken a significant hit and has never fully recovered from the global pandemic closures. A lot of people in the industry are concerned about the future of movies, and Harrison Ford is among them.

Harrison Ford had been a staple of movie theaters for decades. With roles in his career from Han Solo to Indiana Jones to Jack Ryan, and even recently joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ford has been part of some of the biggest movie franchises ever made. As somebody who still goes to the movies an average of once a week (though admittedly it’s part of my job), I still love going to movie theaters, and it’s been frustrating to watch the entertainment venues struggle. Going to the theater can still be great.

My most memorable theatrical experiences in the last year haven’t been the best movies. They’ve been the best communal experiences. Screaming with an audience watching Weapons or laughing together with a crowd watching The Naked Gun were some of my favorite movie memories from last year.

While there's a financial issue at play here, Harrison Ford’s concerns are more rooted in culture and community than economics. For him, there’s a connection between movies and culture that has been lost, and the only way to save theaters is to find it again. He continued…

At this point, it’s clear that many are only going to movie theaters to see major blockbuster releases. This means there are a lot of great movies that don’t get seen in theaters as audiences wait for streaming. Clearly, audiences have less desire for that community experience that Ford is talking about.

If this continues, it's not hard to imagine that theaters could start to close, reducing the number of places where people can have this experience. If it becomes too difficult for people to go to the movies, they may go even less, and the cycle continues.

The end of Shrinking Season 3 was a definitive conclusion to a big chapter. In a lot of ways, it felt like a series finale. However, it wasn’t, as the Apple TV series will continue beyond the 2026 TV schedule. So, now I'm wondering exactly how long the comedy will go on after Season 4. Well, co-creator Bill Lawrence shared his thoughts on the matter.

It’s been common knowledge for a while that the first three seasons of this great Apple TV series would tell one complete story. That’s exactly what we got, too, and Season 3 ended with an episode that felt like it could have been the end. However, Shrinking will very much continue into a Season 4 with the “exact” same cast we’ve come to know and love. So, with that in mind, is there a new multi-season plan in place? While speaking with TV Line, Bill Lawrence opened up about the show's future, saying:

Shrinking has been one of my favorite shows for years, so I’m more than willing to hang out with Jimmy, Paul, Gaby and co. for as long as they’ll have me. However, I also love a plan and never want a series to overstay its welcome. So, this update from Lawrence makes me very happy.

It would seem that after Season 4 of Shrinking, there will be more. So, it’s likely that we’ll get a Season 5. After that, things are a little more unclear; however, the co-creator did say that the series will probably not go on past Season 6 at the most.

Now, while I have no clue what story they’ll tell in Seasons 4, 5 and potentially 6, Season 3’s end left us with some loose ends I hope they address.

For example, Jessica Williams’ Gaby got engaged, and I’d love to see her wedding on screen. I also think her being married would be a fascinating storyline to explore, as she also makes a huge career pivot.

Along with that, Christa Miller’s Liz and Ted McGinley’s Derek will be grandparents soon, and I need to see that happen. Meanwhile, Brian (Michael Urie) and Charlie (Devin Kawaoka) will be raising their little one, Sutton. Jason Segel’s Jimmy will also be entering a new phase of life (potentially with Cobie Smulders' Sofi) now that his daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell) is an adult. So, there’s lots to unpack there.

I’m also curious to see how Harrison Ford’s Paul comes back into the picture after his big move across the country. Plus, since he retired, both Gaby and Jimmy’s jobs are bound to change.

All this is to say, I can see how it’d be easy to keep Shrinking going for a few more seasons. And it sounds like that’s exactly what the plan is; after Season 4, they will likely do at least one more installment. However, it’s always possible it could go on a bit longer, too. As they say, “it’s not over until it’s over.”

Shrinking Season 3 marked the end of an era for the great Apple TV show. However, the story is by no means over. Co-creator Bill Lawrence made it clear there’s a plan for Season 4 that will see the “exact” same gang back together. Although I still have questions about what will happen next on the acclaimed comedy. So, I asked those questions to Alice actress Lukita Maxwell and Cobie Smulders, who plays Sofi.

How Will Paul And Alice Come Back?

Considering it’s been common knowledge for a while now that the Shrinking team had a plan to keep the story going after Season 3, the major developments and moves for a few characters left me with one massive question: How will they come back? I’m specifically referring to the fact that Paul and Alice both moved across the country at the end of the show’s junior installment. We know for a fact that Harrison Ford will be back as Paul, and Lukita Maxwell will return as Jimmy’s (Jason Segel) daughter; however, it’s unclear how exactly that will happen.

So, while discussing the season that just ended on the 2026 TV schedule, I asked Maxwell about this as well as her hopes for these two characters. Here’s what she told me:

“We’ll see,” indeed. At the end of Season 3, Paul had moved to Connecticut to be closer to his daughter, while Alice moved east for college.

I guess it's possible for Paul and his family to move back West. He could also come back for a temporary period to be near Jimmy and Gaby (Jessica Williams) to help with their career moves. Meanwhile, Alice could always transfer schools, or, as Maxwell guessed, maybe she's pulled in an entirely new direction. The possibilities are vast, so it was nice to hear the actress talk about what she thinks might happen.

Co-creator Bill Lawrence wouldn’t confirm how exactly these characters will be reunited with the rest of the cast or if there will be a time jump. However, during an interview with THR, he did say whatever happens next will “feel like [they’re] telling a completely different story.” I’d assume that how Alice and Paul find their way back into the picture will play a part in that.

How Did Jimmy And Sofi’s Date Go?

Now, Season 3 of Shrinking literally ends with Paul setting up a date for Jimmy and Sofi. However, while we get to see them smiling at each other, we don’t actually know how it goes. So, when I spoke to Cobie Smulders about Jimmy and Sofi’s romance, I asked her how she thinks that breakfast went. Here’s what she had to say:

Well, I know I certainly want them to get back together. So, I'm hopeful that this date, which likely was awkward, was a step in the right direction.

Along with chatting about how the date went, I also asked Smulders for her take on who set it up. I was curious about the importance of Paul doing this for Jimmy, and Smulders’ response highlighted that while reiterating the theme of Season 3, moving forward:

Overall, this final scene felt like Jimmy truly moving onwards and upwards. Now, it’s time to start something new.

Thankfully, that new story will include all the characters we already know and love. However, they’ll be at different places, literally and figuratively in life, and hopefully Season 4 will answer the questions we have about that.

It’s been known for a while now that while Shrinking’s three-season arc is coming to an end, there is also a plan to keep the story going. That was confirmed when it was renewed for Season 4. However, with Season 3 winding down on the 2026 TV schedule, I’ve been wondering how they plan to do that and who they plan to involve in it. Specifically, there’s one character who I’ve been worried about, because it seems like their story is being set up to fully end. Well, co-creator Bill Lawrence just shared an update about the show’s senior season that has me feeling much better about said character.

As I’m sure you can guess, the character I’m worried about is Paul. Harrison Ford’s therapist has been dealing with his worsening Parkinson’s in a big way this season, and now, he’s given his practice to Gaby, he’s retiring, and he’s moving to Connecticut. Obviously, with one episode left, it’s possible that we could find out how Paul stays in the picture. However, it’s not looking great right now. But then Bill Lawrence got on X (formerly Twitter) and posted:

The emphasis on the “EXACT” makes me feel great. While Brian is going to Tennessee with Charlie and their baby, Sutton, Liz and Derek are going on a trip before they officially become grandparents, and Alice is going to college, I had faith they’d all be back. I was significantly more worried about Paul.

To be frank, and I know this is extreme, I’ve been concerned about him dying for a while now. Paul’s Parkinson’s is getting bad, and it’s not like he’s young. Seeing his health troubles as well as his retirement has left me with big questions about where the story would take him next. Now, we know it’s to Connecticut. Which leaves me with the question: Will he come back?

I genuinely don’t know the answer. However, Lawrence’s post gives me confidence that Harrison Ford will continue to play a major role in Shrinking.

To me, “EXACT same cast” means we’ll still have Jason Segel (Jimmy), Jessica Williams (Gaby), Christa Miller (Liz), Ted McGinley (Derek), Luke Tennie (Sean), Lukita Maxwell (Alice), Michael Urie (Brian) AND Harrison Ford as our regulars. So, hopefully, that means we’ll continue to get Paul’s gruff quips and sage advice regularly on Shrinking.

However, I’m getting ahead of myself here. Shrinking Season 3, which is the end of an era, isn’t over; it will conclude next Wednesday, April 8. But, more is 100% coming, and according to Bill Lawrence, whatever we see next will feature “the EXACT same cast” and a “new” story.

Being a celebrity has its perks. Sure, sometimes they get in trouble for security guards approaching fans, but by and large, they get to brush shoulders with legends and take part in some cool stuff. Case in point, Brendan Fraser recently shared a story in which he effectively became Chewbacca for a day thanks to Harrison Ford.

Fraser said it all began when he was working on Extraordinary Measures with Ford, and received a call from the actor. Fraser shared the story during a panel at Megacon Orlando, and how he got in a cab when Ford asked him to meet him at the airport (via Comicbook):

It's a great story, and I know I speak for many Star Wars fans when I say I would kill for the chance to be Chewbacca to Harrison Ford's Han Solo. Also, hats off to Brendan Fraser for jumping on the opportunity, and catching a cab to the airport whilst having no idea what he was doing. Not many actors could get another actor to do that, which just goes to show how special Harrison Ford is.

Quite frankly, I wonder if part of the mystery that he would be flying was tied to Harrison Ford's history with aviation. He's crashed a few planes in his time, including after he worked with Brendan Fraser on Extraordinary Measures. While one crash was a close call, he's had some other infamous flights that were so notable that the plane was put in a museum. Indiana Jones would be proud of that, right?

As for Brendan Fraser, his appearance at Megacon Orlando was tied to a panel that involved many past actors involved with The Mummy. With lots of people interested in what's ahead for the fourth installment and which characters will be coming back, I'm sure there were many people hoping he'd leak some information about the upcoming movie.

It doesn't seem as though that happened, and we'll just have to wait for more details on the upcoming movie later this year. There was a recent report from Collider that said that filming is set to begin in August. Given that, it's possible that we could see a trailer before mid-2027, but that's strictly speculation on my part.

In the meantime, those who want to watch Extraordinary Measures with Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford can pick it up via digital purchase on YouTube or Amazon Prime. I can't say I've ever seen the movie myself, but I am happy to hear that, if nothing else, Fraser got an injury-free plane ride out of it.

Yes, Harrison Ford was asked if he had ever “made love to the soundtrack” of his own films. The question alone was shocking; however, it was even more surprising that the Indiana Jones star answered it. Now, after that whole interaction went viral, Ford’s Blade Runner 2049 co-star Ryan Gosling was asked about this situation while promoting his latest project on the 2026 movie schedule. As expected, the Project Hail Mary star had an A+ reaction.

What Harrison Ford Said When He Was Asked If He’s Had Sex To His Own Films’ Soundtracks

OK, this all happened because Harrison Ford was asked about singing the Indiana Jones theme on Shrinking (which you can see with an Apple TV subscription). During his interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actor claimed that he didn’t remember if that bit was his idea or not. So, as a follow-up, Jimmy Kimmel asked:

Well, that was certainly a turn. However, Ford took it all in stride and with his signature dry sense of humor. In response, the Star Wars actor simply (and hilariously) said:

There was no follow-up, ellaboration or explanation; the guys moved on to talk more about Shrinking, seeing as it's currently airing on the 2026 TV schedule. However, the short response did go viral.

So, naturally, as Ryan Gosling has been promoting the upcoming book-to-screen adaptation of Project Hail Mary, he got asked the same question his Blade Runner 2049 co-star got on the talk show.

How Ryan Gosling Reacted To That Question And Harrison Ford’s Answer

Now, you might be wondering how all this came up with Ryan Gosling. Well, when he appeared on New Heights, Jason Kelce asked him about his co-star's viral moment during their segment called “We Gotta Ask.” The older Kelce brother laid out that Ford had said he had sex to his own films’ soundtracks, and then he asked Gosling if he had made love to his own movies’ music. In response, the Barbie actor said:

Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce and Gosling all laughed at that answer as well as Ford’s initial response. However, the Crazy Stupid Love star wasn’t done talking about it yet. After confirming that he has not made love to songs like “City of Stars” or “I’m Just Ken,” the Oscar nominee noted that it actually makes sense that the Shrinking actor said he has had sex to his projects' music, explaining:

Harrison Ford really is that guy, and he’s known for blunt and occasionally wild statements. There’s also a bunch of stories about him that add to his ever-expanding and entertaining lore.

For example, right after Gosling confirmed that he had not had sex to his own movies’ music, he told the story of the time Ford punched him while they were working on Blade Runner 2049. He also explained that as the crew was trying to get him ice for his wound, his co-star took his ice away and said, “I forgive you.” Yet again, an iconic one-liner from the movie star that is equal parts unexpected and hilarious. Now, the punch isn’t in Blade Runner 2049; however, the funny story has lived on.

I expect this odd conversation about music in the bedroom to live on, too. Overall, I can’t get over that Ryan Gosling was asked about Harrison Ford’s viral claim. I also love that he didn’t just answer the question for himself; he also explained why his colleague's response was so on brand.

While Paul’s Parkinson’s has always been a challenge on Shrinking, ever since the end of Season 2, there's no question that it's forcing him to change his life in bigger ways. Now, in Season 3, we’re seeing Harrison Ford’s character take steps to prepare for what’s to come, and that includes acting on his plan to retire. So, in Episode 7, he asked a character to take over his practice, and I asked the actor who plays them how they felt about this major choice.

Paul Wants To Give Gaby His Practice

In the Shrinking installment that just aired on the 2026 TV schedule, Paul told Gaby that he’d been thinking about his legacy, and it led him to a conclusion about what to do with his practice. He then relayed that choice to Gaby, saying:

He then clarified that he really was saying that he wants Gaby to “take over Rhoades Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center.” She was apprehensive at first, because she was wondering how Jimmy felt about all this, considering he and Paul are very close. However, Paul reassured her that her co-worker would “understand.”

However, the conversation didn’t end the way Paul probably planned it, because Gaby said she didn’t want to take over his practice. She wants to start her own trauma center. He, obviously, was very supportive of that dream, but the scene does end with them hugging and Paul looking a bit sad.

Jessica Williams Shared Her Thoughts On This Scene And Paul Offering Gaby His Practice

Now, while this request from Paul was a massive surprise to me, Jessica Williams told me she knew it was coming. During an interview with CinemaBlend, she explained that Shrinking’s co-creator Bill Lawrence had told her about this point in the story well before they filmed it. In the Gaby actress’s words:

Considering three of Lawrence’s shows -- Scrubs, Shrinking and Rooster -- are all airing new episodes right now on three different platforms, I can see why Williams got a quick explanation of this plot point. However, despite knowing that was coming, there were still parts of this scene that surprised her.

Recalling what it was like to film this moment with Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams explained:

It really is a lovely moment, and I love how complex it gets emotionally. That’s because, while Gaby is honored by the offer, she wants something different. Meanwhile, Paul is very supportive of Gaby’s dreams; however, he also seems disappointed that she won’t be taking over his practice. Overall, though, there's just a tremendous amount of love and care in this moment, and it's abundantly clear how much these two mean to each other.

However, the fact of the matter is, Paul’s Parkinson’s is getting worse, as his hallucinations and shaking have shown us. So, he’s going to need to figure out what to do next with his career and practice. Maybe that future will involve Gaby; it certainly seems like he wants it to.

You know, I never thought I’d experience Michael Urie and Jason Segel passionately singing Les Misérables, and I really never thought I’d see Harrison Ford reacting to it. However, that’s the goodness the latest episode of Shrinking to air on the 2026 TV schedule gave us. The scene gets even better, though, after you learn the story behind filming it and how the Paul actor totally stole the show from the two men who were doing the singing.

So, in Episode 5, Brian (Urie) and Jimmy (Segel) take Paul (Ford) to pick up his daughter, Meg (Lily Rabe). The stipulation Brian set to go along, though, was that he got to pick the music. That led to him and Jimmy giving a passionate cover of “The Confrontation” from Les Misérables, which the two actors were more than prepared to do, as Urie told me:

Meanwhile, while Urie and Segel were ready to sing their hearts out from the jump, Harrison Ford had absolutely no idea what was coming his way. So, both Paul and the actor who plays him were reacting to this incredibly committed cover of “The Confrontation.” Speaking to that point, the 2025 Emmy nominee said:

Urie went on to explain that this was a special day of filming, because it's not every day you get to drive around Pasadena, California in an open-top car with Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. However, while he is thankful for the opportunity to ask the Indiana Jones star questions he was “too nervous” to before, what he’ll remember most from this experience is seeing the Paul actor react to the singing from the back seat.

Describing the first time he watched the scene after receiving the dailies for it, Urie told me that he and Segel were “acting [their] socks off” and “going to town” to play Valjean and Javert. Meanwhile, Ford sat silently in the back. However, he was doing more than that, as the Ugly Betty actor told me:

Listen, Harrison Ford got an Emmy nomination for playing Paul for a reason. While he can make us cry with his Shrinking monologues, he can also make us laugh until our sides hurt. This scene was an example of the latter, because his reactions mixed with Urie and Segel’s intense singing made for an absolutely perfect bit.

Explaining that further, as well as what he’s learned from Ford while working on Shrinking, Urie told me:

And he did. His reactions are top-tier, and his single line of “Did you guys make that up” brings the scene home. Truly, there have been some very funny moments in Shrinking that involve singing, and this has easily become one of the best.

While Ke Huy Quan has relaunched his acting career in recent years with movies and TV shows like Everything Everywhere All at Once, Loki and Zootopia 2, many still know him best for playing Short Round in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Alas, that was the only time we saw Indy hanging out the child sidekick, but it thankfully wasn’t the last time Quan and Harrison Ford ran into each other. The two had a heartwarming reunion at D23 in 2022, and Quan admitted that even he was surprised by how it went down.

The fan account @indianajonesnews shared Ke Huy Quan’s account of how this encounter happened, which he spoke about around the time that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was coming out. While some of these celebrity reunions are planned ahead of time, Quan and Harrison Ford’s happened purely because of serendipitous timing, as you’ll read in the post below:

Harrison Ford was at that year’s D23 to present footage of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, while Ke Huy Quan was there because it was announced he would be part of the Loki Season 2 cast. As the younger actor pointed out, he hadn’t seen his Indiana Jones co-star since he was a kid, so there was no guarantee that Ford was going to recognize him after 38 years. Plus, the Han Solo actor has a reputation for being grumpy, though sometimes he plays into that for comedic effect.

In any case, Ford fortunately recognized Quan immediately, and they were all smiles when the photo of them together was taken. As if that wasn’t uplifting enough, these two have had a few more run-ins since then. Ford presented the Academy Award for Best Picture at the 2023 Oscars, so when Everything Everywhere All at Once won, he briefly got to interact on stage with Quan, who’d also won Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Waymond Wang earlier in the night. Then, at the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny world premiere in June of the same year, Quan surprised Ford during an interview on the red carpet.

I’m glad that Harrison Ford and Ke Huy Quan have gotten these moments together out in public, and I look forward to the next time they’re photographed or recorded crossing paths. That said, reading Quan’s account about what happened in 2022 makes me sad that we never saw more of Indiana Jones and Short Round together onscreen. It would have been cool if the latter appeared during Dial of Destiny, like John Rhys-Davies’ Sallah and Karen Allen’s Marion did, so we could learn what happened to him after the events of The Temple of Doom.

Alas, that time has passed now that Harrison Ford’s done playing Indiana Jones, but maybe there’ll another opportunity for him and Quan to act together in a different kind of project. For now, Ford can currently be seen playing Dr. Paul Rhoades in the Apple TV subscription-exclusive series Shrinking. Quan has been cast in an undisclosed role for The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, which will now be available to watch with a Paramount+ subscription sometime later this year.

Season 3 of Shrinking brought on a major new cast member this year, as Michael J. Fox joined the ensemble to play Gerry, a man who has Parkinson’s and interacts with Harrison Ford’s character Paul. Since day one, Paul has been dealing with the disease Fox has in real life, and now, the Back to the Future star has opened up about why Ford’s portrayal of Paul and Parkinson’s brought him to “tears.”

In the Season 3 premiere of Shrinking, which just premiered on the 2026 TV schedule and is available to stream with an Apple TV subscription, Paul meets Fox’s character Gerry at the doctor’s office. They talk about Parkinson’s, and over the course of the episode, it becomes very clear that this disease is impacting Harrison Ford’s character in a significantly bigger way than it has in past seasons. Speaking to how the Star Wars star portrays what life with Parkinson’s looks like, the Spin City star told Vanity Fair:

Earlier in this interview, Fox candidly explained that while therapy has helped him out a lot, people with Parkinson’s will oftentimes find themselves “educating the therapist as much as they’re educating [them].” This led to a point being made in the story about just how hard it’d be to “accurately depict” Parkinson’s on screen if the person portraying it hasn’t personally experienced it. However, clearly Harrison Ford has figured it out.

It’s seriously high praise to have Michael J. Fox, a man who has lived with Parkinson’s for decades and is one of the most prominent advocates for folks with it, compliment Ford’s performance. He knows exactly what Paul is going through, and he’d know if the actor’s performance wasn’t correct. So, to hear that the Indiana Jones star’s performance was both accurate and emotional is incredible.

However, the compliments don’t stop there, because this is a two-way street. Right after Fox explained why Ford’s Emmy-nominated performance brought him to tears, the 1923 star gave the praise right back, saying:

When Fox’s involvement in Shrinking was announced, Harrison Ford explained that he was an “essential” addition to the show. Specifically, he explained that The American President actor’s “courage,” “fortitude,” and “grace” are on “full display” in the show, and that the way he carries himself in his life is a great example for everyone.

So, all around, it’s very clear that these two legends adore each other and are quite inspired by each other’s work too. It’s so lovely, it’s bringing me to tears. Now, I really can’t wait to see how Gerry and Paul’s relationship develops as Shrinking continues to drop new episodes every Wednesday.

SPOILERS for the premiere of Shrinking Season 3 are ahead! Read with caution, and stream the series with an Apple TV subscription.

Season 3 of Shrinking began on the 2026 TV schedule with a lot of massive updates and life changes, specifically for Harrison Ford’s character, Paul. Throughout the first hour of this new installment, it’s made very clear that Paul’s Parkinson’s is getting worse, and it’s impacting his life more.

Meanwhile, he and Julie also decide to get married. At the wedding, he sees Gerry, a man who has Parkinson's that he recently met at the doctor’s office. However, the twist is that the new man, who is played by Michael J. Fox, wasn’t really there. Now I’m quite nervous about what could happen next.

Why The Final Scene In Shrinking’s Season 3 Premiere Made Me Nervous

Alright, let’s dive into the specifics about what made me nervous. In the final moments of the episode titled “My Bad,” Paul goes into the house while his wedding reception is happening, and he sees Fox’s Shrinking character, Gerry, eating a piece of cake.

They talk about how much Gerry loves cake. Then, Julie walks in, and the following conversation happens:

• Julie: Hey, stud.
• Paul: Hi.
• Julie: So, who are you talking to?
• Paul: Gerry.
• Julie: Who?
• Paul: [Points to an empty chair] Gerry. Oh. You don’t see him, do you? Woof.
• Julie: Yeah.

And that’s how the episode ends. The man whom Paul had spoken to at the reception was not real, and that made me wonder if Gerry was totally imaginary. Was he fake at the doctor’s office earlier, too, when he was introduced? I’ve been spiraling about this and the notion that Michael J. Fox’s character could be a total figment of Paul’s imagination.

However, while he did imagine Gerry in this instance, Fox's character is also real, and his first scene proves it.

Why We Shouldn’t Fully Panic Yet About Gerry

Toward the start of the premiere, Paul goes to the doctor, and that’s where he meets Gerry. They have a conversation in the waiting room about how they’re handling Parkinson’s, and Gerry asks if Paul’s had any hallucinations yet. Paul said he hasn’t. Not long after that, the doctor comes into the room and says:

So breathe easy, everyone. The doctor did acknowledge Fox’s character in the waiting room, meaning he’s not just a figment of Paul’s imagination. Gerry is real.

However, while we now know that the Back to the Future star is, in fact, a living character, a new question arises: what is going on with Paul at the end of this episode? Why did he imagine Gerry eating cake at his wedding? Is he having those hallucinations that Fox’s character mentioned in the waiting room? Will it get worse?

Ford did say Fox’s involvement in Shrinking has been “essential,” and co-creator Bill Lawrence said Gerry is a “full-fledged character.” So, I’m sure all this will play a big part in Season 3. However, we’ll just have to wait and see. So to find out why Paul was seeing Gerry, be sure to tune back in to Shrinking next Wednesday on Apple TV.

One of the reasons I love Shrinking is that it feels like I’m hanging out with one big chosen family who adore each other dearly. It turns out, the cast seems to feel that way about each other in real life, too. While many of them have spoken about how much they love their co-stars, the story I want to focus on here has to do with Jessica Williams giving Harrison Ford the sweetest gift that reminds me a lot of the time Gaby gave Paul a water bottle.

Ahead of Shrinking’s Season 3 premiere on the 2026 TV schedule, I had the chance to chat with the cast about what’s to come and what it’s like working on this series. During my interview with Jessica Williams, we spoke specifically about her character Gaby’s relationship with Paul (Harrison Ford) a lot. So, when I asked about her own relationship with the Indiana Jones actor, she recalled an adorable story about the time she gifted him a book of crossword puzzles:

Well, that’s such a cute and thoughtful gift! I also adore the fact that it’s specifically the Mondays. The New York Times’ Crosswords do get harder with every day of the week, and I think it’s sweet that both Ford and Williams bonded over the fact that they like the “easy crosswords” the most. Honestly, same.

Now, this story gets better. While the Booksmart actress was waiting for this gift to come in, she was getting so excited that she just wanted to tell the 1923 star about it. However, he wouldn’t let her, as she told me:

Over the course of Shrinking’s run, it’s become very clear that Ford and Williams have a mutual admiration and love for each other. For example, when they were both nominated for Emmys last year, they texted each other adorable congratulations.

Plus, they never shy away from complimenting one another. In fact, the Star Wars actor once said that when he thinks of Williams, he thinks “of Yoda.” Meanwhile, the Incredible Jessica James star complimented Ford’s Season 2 finale performance while explaining how he supported her after the emotional moment.

This real-life connection is represented on-screen too, because Paul and Gaby support each other 100% both as friends and colleagues. Speaking to that point, and how their relationship evolves in Season 3, Jessica Williams said:

Well, I certainly can’t wait to see all this on screen! For Shrinking’s entire run, Paul and Gaby have had a very special relationship. It’s clear that Williams and Ford do too. So, yeah, I'm excited to see it grow as Season 3 airs, and I’d love for it to contain more water bottles, sing-alongs and maybe even crosswords.

The first month of 2026 comes to an end this week, and it’s been a month of great streaming movies and an even better month for great streaming TV. Still, some top streamers have been holding onto the best for last, as two highly anticipated series and more get underway this week. Here’s what to look forward to steaming this week.

Wonder Man - January 27 (Disney+)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is already set to have a big year with Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, but it will get off to a much smaller start, if you have a Disney+ subscription, with Wonder Man. If nothing else, the show should be entertaining for the return of Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery, but the show might also be important to the larger franchise. We shall see.

School Spirits, Season 3 - January 28 (Paramount+)

The third season of School Spirits may receive something of a boost, considering that Milo Manheim was recently tapped to play Flynn Rider in Disney’s live-action Tangled. If you haven’t watched until now, your Paramount+ subscription will get you the first two seasons of the afterlife mystery series to catch up on before Season 3 arrives this week.

The Wrecking Crew - January 28 (Prime Video)

It seems terribly wrong that a buddy cop movie with Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa is a thing we’re somehow only getting now. The pair play brothers who are both cops, one by the book, the other not so much. It feels like the setup for a perfectly enjoyable action comedy at the very least and perhaps something truly great. If nothing else, it’s a good reason to have a Prime Video subscription.

Shrinking, Season 3 - January 28 (Apple TV)

Shrinking has always been one of the best reasons to have an Apple TV subscription, but Season 3 has a really big reason to watch, as it will see the return of Michael J. Fox to television. Fox, alongside the likes of Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, makes this a must-watch show.

Bridgerton, Season 4 Part 1 - January 29 (Netflix)

One of the best reasons to keep your Netflix subscription finally returns this week when the new season of Bridgerton debuts. Romance fans will likely be glued to their screens as they binge through the first part of the brand new season, which will focus on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and his quest for a good match. The rest of the season drops at the end of February.

February has some incredible content in store for us. Next month, Disney+ will bring us the return of The Muppet Show, while Hulu brings us the long-awaited return of Scrubs, and that’s just the beginning.

I don’t know when it happened, but my Facebook feed has been showing me random posts (not from friends) for months now. While I simply skip over most of these for one reason or another, one recently caught my attention with a dialogue about some of the best actors of all time and who had the best seven-year run. Is it Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, or someone else known for great movie characters?

Truth be told, plenty of great options were brought up in a Facebook post, and now I’m having a hard time deciding who is right or if there’s even an answer to this question. That said, I’ve come up with a list of a few Hollywood leading men who gave audiences some of the best ‘80s movies, even more of the greatest ‘90s films, and countless big-screen moments we’re still talking about years later.

Okay, Orlando Bloom probably isn’t the first person to come to mind whenever the conversation turns to great runs, but his seven-year stretch in the 2000s is out of this world. From the Lord of the Rings trilogy to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and examples of all the major genres in between, Bloom had hit after hit at the start of the 21st century.

After going through all these actors and their respective filmographies, I’m having a really hard time deciding who had the best seven-year run. I mean, Tom Hanks’ stretch in the ‘90s is in a league of its own, but Tom Cruise also had a firm grasp on things in the era. Harrison Ford kept striking back, and Samuel L. Jackson was just one bad motherfucker.

Season 2 of Shrinking featured such brilliant performances from both Michael Urie and Harrison Ford that they both got Emmy nominations. Now, it sounds like the Star Wars actor is upping his game, as his co-star and fellow nominee gushed about how Season 3 of Shrinking will “showcase” Ford in a “beautiful” way. However, as a fan of this show, hearing that actually really scares me.

Considering Shirnking is set to premiere on the 2026 TV schedule in January, the anticipation is starting to rise. To prove that point, when Michael Urie was at the premiere for the Broadway musical Chess, People asked him about what’s to come on this great Apple TV+ show. He was quick to gush about the Paul actor, saying:

Considering how Season 2 of Shrinking ended, this makes sense, and it’s also inevitably sad. Remember, Paul gave a speech at Thanksgiving where he spoke about how the road he’s on with Parkinson's is only getting harder, and it really will only get worse as the show goes on.

It scares me to think that Paul will not be able to function the way he used to, and seeing how Parkinson's impacts him is bound to be challenging and very emotional. However, it’s an important story to tell, and I’m certain the show will do it in a moving and beautiful way. And that’s exactly how Urie described Ford’s performance and arc this season. He said:

While every season has had tearjerking moments, I feel like Season 3 will hit even harder. While co-creator Bill Lawrence has said there are plans to continue Shrinking after these upcoming episodes, he’s also said that the first three seasons cover a complete arc of “grief, forgiveness and moving forward.” So, I’ve been operating under the assumption that this season will work as a conclusion to the first chapter of the show.

That makes me wonder about all the ways they could end it, and I can’t help but think that that plan could include Paul dying. It’d be a tragic, beautiful and impactful way to end this arc, and it would push the rest of the characters into a new chapter of life if Shrinking got a fourth season.

It tragically makes a lot of sense to me, and Urie’s comments about Harrison Ford having a standout season make me think it will end in a big (and probably sad yet beautiful) way.

However, we don’t know that for sure; I’m just theorizing. So, to find out what really happens and to see this wonderful performance from Harrison Ford, you can stream the Season 3 premiere of Shrinking with an Apple TV+ subscription on January 28, 2026.

It’s always interesting to think about what the algorithms think of my watching habits. Recently, I was recommended Clear and Present Danger as I was flipping around looking for something to watch with my Netflix subscription on the first cloudy, cold day of the year. I had a fire going, and I just wanted to veg out. The Harrison Ford flick from 1994, based on a Tom Clancy novel, seemed like the perfect option when I scrolled by it. It was, for more reasons than I thought it would.

A Lot Is Going On Here

I loved Clear and Present Danger when it came out in the mid-’90s. I was already a fan of the Clancy novel and of all the Jack Ryan movies, so when the movie was released, I remember going to the theaters on opening weekend to see it. That was followed by watching a lot on cable in the next couple of years. However, I don’t think I’ve sat down to watch it since about 1997. 30 years is a long time, and tastes change, both my own and in how movies look and feel.

Clear and Present Danger holds up in the ways I hoped it would. It’s still a great action movie with some engaging characters. It’s also a timely critique of the War on Drugs, which even by the mid-’90s was losing steam and popularity with people. It was being recognized as a drain on resources with dubious legality. There have been a lot of Jack Ryanverse movies and actors in the lead role over the years, and this remains one of the best.

What I Really Love Is The Cast

Sometimes, the best way for a movie to endure over time is the cast, and Clear and Present Danger has an A+ cast. Harrison Ford, of course, is once again great as Jack Ryan in his second go with the character after Patriot Games. Willem Dafoe is perfect as the grizzled CIA operative John Clark (a mainstay character in the Ryanverse). Between this movie and the Mission: Impossible movies, there is really no one better at playing a swarmy bureaucratic functionary like Henry Czerny, and he’s just so unlikable in this movie, it’s wonderful.

The late James Earl Jones, who played Admiral James Greer for the third and final time here, has a smaller role in this than he did in The Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games, but his scenes are so heartfelt and, honestly, funny at times, that it made me miss the acting great even more. Joaquim de Almeida, who plays the ambitious henchman, Félix Cortez, in the movie, has been a little typecast over the years as a drug trafficker, but he’s so good at the role, so I understand why. His boss, played by Miguel Sandoval, is also perfect as the Pablo Escobar-like narco kingpin, Ernesto Escobedo (hardly disguising the connection).

There are also a slew of great supporting roles from character actors like Clarke Gregg, Reg E. Cathy, Benjamin Bratt, Donald Moffat, and Rex Linn. And I haven't even mentioned Anne Archer yet, who does her best work in the series as Cathy Ryan. It's just stacked up and down.

We don’t know if the next installment of the Ryanverse will be on the 2026 movie schedule, but whenever it is, I’ll be there at the theater, just like I was 30 years ago when Clear and Present Danger came out.

The time for Harrison Ford’s Han Solo and Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso being in upcoming Star Wars movies and TV shows may have likely passed, considering both the characters’ fates in the universe, but the actors did get to link up earlier this week! During the premiere for Jones’ new movie, Train Dreams, she had her first chance to meet the Star Wars legend, and her reaction was the best.

Jones' next film, Train Dreams, which she stars in alongside Joel Edgerton, will be available for those with a Netflix subscription later this month. Edgerton is also part of the Star Wars Universe, given he played Owen Lars in the prequel trilogy and returned for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Apparently, Edgerton and Ford are good friends, and the former invited the Han Solo actor to the Los Angeles premiere. After Jones met Ford on Monday night, here’s what she told Variety:

Edgerton directed Harrison Ford in an ad campaign for Glenmorangie Scotch Whisky, and the pair have apparently become close since. It offered Felicity Jones a rare opportunity to meet one of the original actors in Star Wars. As Jones added during the red carpet interview:

How sweet is this reaction from Felicity Jones? The 42-year-old British actress shared that Harrison Ford was actually a really big influence on her while making Rogue One back in 2015. While Jyn and Han never get to cross paths in the Star Wars storyline, Jyn is very influential to Han’s journey in the original movies since she and her team die to make sure the Death Star plans are delivered to Princess Leia. Without Jyn, Han Solo would have never become the hero that he is.

When Edgerton spoke at the Train Dreams premiere about inviting his buddy Harrison Ford, he said that it felt “very special” to see him there supporting the film. He apparently invited Ford specifically because he felt the 83-year-old Hollywood legend might connect to the movie’s plotline about a laborer developing the U.S. railroad while dealing with loss in his family. The actor said Ford “lives out in the wilderness in Wyoming and he’s very connected to nature.”

The movie is among upcoming book adaptations too, given it's based on a 2011 novella of the same name by Denis Johnson that was actually a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. You can see Felicity Jones and Joel Edgerton in select theaters this Friday, November 7, and over on Netflix on November 21.

George Clooney might be the man of our dreams, but, apparently, a different movie star is the man of his. The Oscar-winning actor recently shared one of the craziest ways his mind has wandered while he’s asleep. The Ocean's Eleven star got candid about one of his most unhinged dreams, which featured his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, fellow silver screen star Harrison Ford and an indoor Jacuzzi.

As of late, Clooney has been promoting his upcoming 2025 release, Jay Kelly. While doing press for the film, the A-lister took part in a lengthy interview with Esquire. That chat includes anecdotes about Clooney's early acting days, how he feels about the state of his career and what led him to be a successful movie star without ever being associated with one particular role. Clooney also got candid about the interesting dream he had, which involved Ford knocking him down a peg:

Apparently, this dream may have spawned from George Clooney anticipating meeting Harrison Ford at a birthday party, and the mind has a crazy way of spinning the most innocent of interactions into a crazy dream. The part where Clooney had to sit in the backseat of a car while being third wheel in his wife’s Ford love affair is hilarious, and I’m curious to know what Amal thought about this. When George met Ford, he told him about the dream and of course he had the perfect reaction:

I love that Clooney was starstruck by Ford, given the former is one of the coolest guys on the planet. Of course, his only possible competition being a movie star like Ford. Of course, the Star Wars icon reacted in the most Harrison Ford-way possible, totally living up to his reputation. I’d also like a rough figure on how many people have gone up to Ford explaining their hot-tub related dreams because, apparently, Clooney is far from the first.

This story is charming and chaotic, and a perfect movie-star anecdote for Clooney to share. This is par for the course for the Michael Clayton star, who has had many stories told about him over the years about pulling pranks on Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise and shipping motorcycles to Italy. He may be having a fan boy moment over Ford, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s had that effect on others as well, and has been the subject of a handful of dreams that involve hot tubs and beautiful Italian properties.

OK, hear me out, I didn’t grow up on the Indiana Jones movies or Star Wars, so my love for Harrison Ford didn’t really exist until I saw his Emmy-nominated performance as the grumpy therapist Paul in Apple TV’s comedy Shrinking. So, for the last few years, I’ve been playing catch-up and appreciating his filmography from a new perspective. Most recently, I streamed his rom-com Working Girl for free on YouTube, and I gotta say, he really brought the rom and the com.

For those who might not know, Working Girl, the great rom-com from Mike Nichols that stars Melanie Griffith, Sigourney Weaver and Harrison Ford, can be streamed for free on YouTube TV with ads.

Full transparency, I’ve been wanting to watch this movie for a while, and was thrilled when this option came up. After watching Season 2 of 1923 and Shrinking, I’ve been actively trying to watch more of Ford's work.

I knew Jack Trainer from Working Girl was one of Ford’s best characters, and the idea of seeing him in a rom-com made me very happy. So, when I realized I could watch the film for free with a few commercials, I was quick to jump at the opportunity, and boy, did this movie deliver.

Harrison Ford's Performance In Working Girl Is Equal Parts Swoonworthy And Hilarious

It’s no secret that Harrison Ford has and probably always will be a heartthrob. Characters like Han Solo and Indiana Jones have left many swooning or wanting to be just like him. And in his personal life, Ford and his style have been an inspiration for many. In Working Girl, he fully embraces the part of the love interest, and he really left me both with butterflies and laughing.

In this 1988 movie, Melanie Griffith’s Tess McGill works for Sigourney Weaver’s Katharine Parker, and when Katharine gets injured, Tess uses her absence from work as an opportunity to advance. That leads her to Ford’s Jack Trianer, and the two work together to successfully pull off her plan. They also…fall in love.

From Jack’s first meeting with Tess, where he tells her, “let’s just meet like human beings,” my heart was fluttering. Harrison Ford is so charming as this businessman, and like Tess, I couldn’t help but fall for him.

Meanwhile, he’s also really funny throughout the movie. The shenanigans at the wedding are a great highlight of this, as we got to see Jack chugging a tropical drink and then walking out of a women’s restroom stall and telling the distraught bride that she looks “glorious, fabulous, stunning, super, elegant [pops mouth], perfect.”

Oh, and how could I forget the funny scene where Jack changes his shirt in his office while on the phone and has to wave off the clapping onlookers. That moment is the best of both worlds.

Throughout the film, Ford’s comedic timing is on point, and that, mixed with the romance of it all, makes for one grand ol’ time.

So, if you are looking for a fun and free movie to watch, give Working Girl a shot. It’s a Harrison Ford classic for a reason.

Harrison Ford is one of our greatest living actors. Ford's best movies include some of the biggest film franchises ever made, and he’s the definition of a movie star. One imagines that people looking to emulate that sort of success ask him for advice all the time, but he apparently isn’t a big fan of advice, either giving it or receiving it.

In a recent appearance on NPR, Ford was asked about the best piece of advice he ever ignored, because sometimes advice is just terrible. The actor implied that he always ignored whatever advice he had been given. He indicated he hadn’t necessarily been given much, probably because he says he probably looked like somebody who wouldn’t listen to it.

On the topic of giving advice, Ford admitted he is sometimes asked for such things, and the one piece of advice that he gives isn’t about how to do things the way he did them. It’s actually about the opposite of that, with explaining…

This probably isn’t the sort of thing that people asking Harrison Ford for advice are looking for. Generally, when people want advice, it's to learn what worked, or what didn’t work, from somebody who has already achieved what they’re trying to achieve. This doesn’t exactly help. That said, it’s probably good advice. Simply copying what somebody else did previously isn’t necessarily as likely to work as it might at first appear.

To be fair, Ford has clearly backed up this advice. When Alden Ehrenreich took over the role of Han Solo for Solo: A Star Wars Story, Ford reportedly told him to make the role of Han Solo his own.

There are all sorts of reasons why simply following in somebody’s footsteps isn’t going to achieve the same results. Harrison Ford became a star in the 1970s, and quite a lot is different now compared to then. So what worked for him probably won’t work for somebody looking for advice in 2025.

And there’s, of course, something to be said for blazing your own trail. A lot of people have found many different roads to success, and doing things differently was probably part of the formula for a lot of them. If everybody tries to do things the same way, there’s no way to differentiate between them all.

Harrison Ford seems to be a guy who knows what he’s talking about, so I’ll take his advice, even if it mostly amounts to not taking advice.

He’s a comedian, a longtime Tonight Show host, decades-long rival to David Letterman, a car whisperer, and a man who can fix anything with a socket set. But according to a recent revelation by Harrison Ford, the funnyman has another new talent: he can also 3D-print a custom toilet seat. Yes, Leno printed a toilet seat for Han Solo. And honestly? It’s the most wholesome tech-meets-Hollywood crossover of the year.

Per an exclusive report from People, during Leno’s Love Ride Foundation event in Glendale (Sept. 8), the former late-night television host explained how he ended up solving a very specific bathroom emergency for the Indiana Jones star. The saga bubbled up on NPR’s Wild Card with Rachel Martin, where Ford’s phone lit up with a real-time call from comedy veteran and the actor admitted he’d tapped Jay’s shop of nifty machines (plural 3D printers) after years of failing to find a replacement seat for a discontinued model. According to Leno, the print didn’t take long, the fit was just right, and Ford—who knows a thing or two about precision gear—was impressed. He continued:

Meanwhile, Ford told Wild Card he’d hunted for a matching seat “for years,” even tapping friends in the plumbing industry. I love everything about this story: the old-school movie icon discovering a modern maker solution; the car guy who can’t resist a quirky challenge; and the mental image of a shop crew CAD-modeling Han Solo’s… throne. It’s peak dad ingenuity with blockbuster star power. Also, props to the practical lesson here. Who’d have thought 3D printing isn’t just for cosplay Iron Man helmets and Star Wars figurines?

According to the legendary actor, he was told to change his name early in his career, but, in true Ford fashion, was not going to play that game. It turns out, he wasn’t afraid of using a little nonsense to tactfully avoid changing his name. Here’s how he did it.

Ford’s Origin Story Is Well Known, But Did You Know About His Name?

The Witness star was born Harrison Ford in Chicago in 1942. His first gig in Hollywood came towards the end of the studio system, when he was a contract player for Columbia Pictures in the mid-1960s. According to him, in an interview with Variety, he was making $150 a week and struggling to land many parts. When he landed his first role, in 1966’s Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round, he was told by a studio executive that his name “sounded too pretentious.”

Ford relays what the exec said to him,

That wasn’t all, he also suggested Ford change his name, because his real name sounded pretentious. Ford devised a way to defuse the situation and keep his real name by coming up with a ridiculous one.

Ford Suggested “Kurt Affair” As A Stage Name

In a 2017 interview with GQ, Ford explained that he had no interest in changing his name, pretentious or not. So, he invented the name “Kurt Affair” because he thought it sounded terrible. Of the name, he told GQ,

When asked if the studio actually had thought highly of the name (which they did not) whether or not he would have actually changed it, Ford was blunt:

It’s impossible to imagine one of the stars of Star Wars being named “Kurt Affair.” Harrison Ford sounds like a star. Maybe it is the pretentiousness that makes it work, but I don’t think it’s all that haughty. Kurt Affair is a great name for a pro wrestler or an adult film star, but not for the actor playing Indiana Jones.

Obviously, it’s impossible to know if a simple name change would have altered the course of Hollywood, but Ford has been a part of some of the biggest franchises in history, even joining in on the fun at Marvel when he finally starred in an MCU movie, playing Thaddeus Ross/Red Skull in Captain America: Brave New World on the 2025 movie schedule.

After casually sharing that it must be about his toilet seat, the actor expanded on the curious comment. In his words:

Jay Leno has been retired from his Tonight Show antics for over a decade now, and he famously started his own series called Jay Leno’s Garage, where he mainly talks about restoring vintage and sports cars. So when Harrison Ford had this toilet seat problem, he thought about the former host. As he continued:

I’m not kidding, when it was announced that Michael J. Fox would be returning to acting to play a role in Shrinking Season 3, I screamed. He’s one of my favorite actors, and in the past, the show’s co-creator, Bill Lawrence, has spoken about how Fox has impacted the way Parkinson’s has been represented on the show. So, this is a very meaningful addition to the cast, and recently, Harrison Ford got candid about why it’s also been “essential.”

Over the course of Shrinking’s first two seasons, we’ve seen Ford’s character, Paul, learn how to live with his Parkinson’s, which has been impacting him more and more as the show goes on. In Season 3, it’s been revealed that Fox’s character will play a role in Paul’s life. When the Indiana Jones actor spoke to Variety about the Back to the Future star joining the ensemble, he noted just how impactful it’s been, explaining:

As I stated earlier, Bill Lawrence, who co-created Shrinking with Jason Segel and Brett Goldstein, was inspired by how Michael J. Fox has handled his Parkinson’s, and it has impacted how it’s represented in his show. He worked with the actor on Spin City, which was when Fox publicly announced he had Parkinson’s. And he told People that they wanted to represent living with this disease in “hopefully an inspiring and not sad or tragic way.”

Over the years, Fox’s tenacity and courage have been on full display, and the work he’s done to help others with Parkinson’s is remarkable. This journey is beautifully depicted in Still, by the way, which is an incredibly candid Apple TV+ documentary about the actor’s career and how his life has evolved and changed since his diagnosis.

Now, while we don’t know exactly who Fox will play on Shrinking, we know his character will have Parkinson’s and he’ll interact with Paul. To that point, Ford explained how his new co-star has inspired how he plays his character, saying:

The entire time Shrinking has been on, it’s been clear how much they care about representing Parkinson’s in a respectful and realistic yet optimistic way. Like Fox has for a long time now, Paul is working well into his diagnosis, and he’s learning to adapt to life in new ways while leaning on, trusting and loving the people around him. It’s honestly an uplifting story, and the way Ford plays it is both tear-jerking and heartwarming.

Now, I can’t wait to see how he interacts with Michael J. Fox in Season 3 of Shrinking, because I’m positive it will be moving, wonderful, and funny, of course. Harrison Ford is a national treasure. He’s one of the most universally loved movie stars of his generation. He’s responsible for some of the most iconic franchises in cinema history, and he is also an Academy Award nominee. The man has literally done it all, and by “all,” I mean he’s even punched Ryan Gosling in the face.

Yes, if you’re not familiar with the story, during the production of the criminally underrrated Blade Runner 2049, Ford and Gosling were involved in a fight scene with each other, and somebody, generally agreed to be Gosling himself, missed his mark, resulting in Ford accidentally hitting one of America’s prettiest actors in the face. Variety recently brought up the incident during an interview with the Star Wars actor, and the veteran brushed it off, though he was sure to point out Ryan is no less pretty because of the incident. To be fair, if Ford had somehow hit Ryan Gosling in such a way that he actually wasn’t handsome anymore, a legion of fans would probably be more concerned with the incident.

Gosling himself didn’t seem to mind. He reportedly started laughing after being punched by his co-star, which resulted in the take being unusable. And to be fair, how many people have been punched by Harrison Ford? The La La Land actor is in very limited company.

Ford has said before that he apologized for the punch and has also previously taken some of the blame, saying he didn’t pull his punch as well as he should have. Though ultimately, it seems most of the blame was laid on Ryan Gosling’s face being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Shrinking actor seems to blow off the whole incident now. It happened, he can't take it back, move on.

Blade Runner 2049 was a fantastic sequel to the original Blade Runner, one of the best science fiction movies ever. Unfortunately, the new movie followed its predecessor a little too closely, as both movies were financial flops. Blade Runner's ultimate quality was only found years later, and the same has largely happened with Blade Runner 2049.

Ryan Gosling may still be a very handsome man, but Harrison Ford does have one significant advantage in that department over his Blade Runner 2049 co-star. Gosling has never been named the Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine, while Harrison Ford received that honor back in the 1990s. Gosling still has plenty of time to achieve that, as long as nobody damages his good looks.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a behemoth franchise, one that's constantly producing new content in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Harrison Ford recently joined the fun with Captain America: Brave New World, taking on the role of Thaddeus Ross from late actor William Hurt. The A-lister was recently asked if he's returning to that role in upcoming Marvel movies, and offered a one-word answer.

Captain America 4 struggled at the box office, and starred Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson as the new Cap. Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have been wondering about what's next for Ross, and in a recent interview with Variety Ford was asked if Kevin Feige has convinced him to return to the MCU. his answer was short and sweet, stating:

Talk about on brand. Ford isn't known for mincing words, so he was honest about the lack of plans for him to return to the MCU. But given the fact that the studio is currently in the midst of filming Avengers: Doomsday, perhaps it's just a matter of timing. Fingers crossed.

Ford has some big shoes to fill when he joined the MCU, but the Star Wars icon brought his signature charisma to the role. On top of playing Thaddeus Ross, he also got to hulk out as the Red Hulk for the movie's final action sequence. And yes, it was pretty epic.

The ending of Captain America: Brave New World saw Ross imprisoned in The Raft after the events of the film. But there was a silver lining, as he finally reunited with his daughter Betty (Liv Tyler). We'll just have to wait and see if/when this long-standing character reappears in the shared universe.

As a character Ross has appeared in a ton of movies across the MCU timeline, starting with 2008's The Incredible Hulk and then returning for Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame, and Black Widow. As such, Harrison Ford's possible return in the role seems pretty inevitable. There's just always a reason for the long-standing character to pop back up.

Harrison Ford's one-word response about his Marvel future is super on brand for the actor, whose interest in major franchises is always in juxtaposition to the fans. He's been fielding questions about Star Wars for decades now, and the same is likely going to happen with the MCU until the time that Ross is written off for good.

Sine Captain America 4 failed to perform critically and financially, only time will tell if a fifth movie is green lit. The MCU has had peaks and valleys since Endgame, so the pressure is on for the next Avengers movies to reset things.

The next MCU movie hitting theaters is Avengers: Doomsday on December 18th of next year as part of the 2026 movie release list. We'll have to wait and see if/when Ford pops back up again.

One of the reasons why Shrinking is one of Apple TV+’s best shows is that it masterfully balances drama and comedy. In the series, they deal with incredibly deep topics in thoughtful ways while also cracking jokes left and right. Now, they’ve proven they can balance the emotional and hilarious behind the scenes too, thanks to Harrison Ford’s Season 3 wrap speech that was sentimental until he threw some light-hearted shade at Jason Segel.

In true Jimmy and Paul fashion, Jason Segel and Harrison Ford had a simultaneously sweet and hilarious moment together to celebrate the fact that Season 3 of Shrinking had wrapped. As you can see in the video below, the Indiana Jones actor gave a thoughtful and candid speech about how much he loved working on the show, which was quickly followed by him taking a jab at his co-star. Alright, let’s break this down. For starters, Ford was out here trying to make me weep like he did with his speech during the Season 2 finale. His thoughtful comments about ending Season 3 and wanting to make more Shrinking were so heartwarming, and it’s evident how much this show means to him. So, yeah, when he said the following words, I wanted to tear up:

What sweet words from the first-time and well-deserved Emmy nominee. Like Paul on Shrinking, Harrison Ford can be intimidating and definitely has his sassy moments. However, based on his co-star’s comments about him, the texts he sent Jessica Williams and Michael Urie about their 2025 Emmy nominations and this video, he clearly cares so much and has a heart of gold.

However, his snarky side came out when Jason Segel responded to his little speech. The conversation went like this:

• Jason Segel: Yeah, buddy.
• Harrison Ford: I wasn’t talking to you.

And then, as you saw in the video, Ford yanked his jacket off his co-star’s finger and stormed off. It’s honestly comedy gold.

It also perfectly encapsulates why Jimmy and Paul are such a good duo on-screen. They love and care for each other so much; however, Paul also can’t help but shade and occasionally torment Jimmy (like he did in that canoe). But don't worry, Jimmy knows how to throw it right back.

It would seem Ford and Segel are capable of doing that to each other in real life, too, and I genuinely love to see it.

Now, the wait is really on for Shrinking Season 3. And I’m feeling optimistic about getting it on the 2025 TV schedule because we now know they’re done filming, and the first two seasons premiered in 2023 and 2024. So, I can’t wait to see what they have in store, and clearly they feel the same way and want to make more. So, let’s keep this heartfelt and hilarious show on the road.

The Shrinking cast was well represented among the 2025 Emmy nominees. The series picked up seven nominations total, with four going to its actors. Those four are Jason Segel, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie and Harrison Ford. The catch is, Ford and Urie are competing in the same category – Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. So, when asked about his category-mate, the Brian actor explained why he thinks the Paul actor should win.

Now, both Urie and Ford had outstanding seasons on the hit Apple TV+ original series Shrinking and are equally deserving of their nominations. However, while doing press about it, the Brian actor was asked by the AP about competing against his legendary co-star, in response, he said:

Personally, Harrison Ford’s nomination for playing Paul was one I’d been really hoping for after he was snubbed at the 2023 Emmys. Shrinking marked a new chapter in his career, his first regular role on a TV show, and it allowed us to see a totally different side of him as an actor. It’s a special show, his role in it is incredible, and he deserves the nomination and possible win, as Urie said.

However, Urie deserves it too. Brian became a fan-favorite character in Shrinking Season 2, and he got to show off his skills as a performer even more than he did in Season 1. I mean, that speech he gave multiple times? Those scenes alone make him worthy of the nomination and potentially a trophy.

Although it would seem he really wants the gold to go to his co-star, and I get it. Harrison Ford is 83 years old, and across his entire career, he’s been nominated for one Oscar in 1986 for Witness and one Emmy as of this week for Shrinking. That’s crazy! So, it’s about time he gets the recognition he deserves, and for a role that is absolutely remarkable, as Urie explained:

In Shrinking, we get to see so many sides of both Ford and Urie as performers. When it comes to the 1923 actor, I think about the juxtaposition of his tearjerking speech in the finale with the moment of him singing in the car with Jessica Williams’ Gaby. Talk about range! And in Season 2, we’ve gotten to see that for his co-star too, as the Brian actor has gone from the aforementioned fast-talking speech to showing major vulnerability and self-awareness as he goes through the adoption process with his husband.

Truly, both these men are so worthy of their nominations, and I can’t wait to see them at the Emmys on September 14. However, I can safely say that I’m even more excited about seeing them return as Paul and Brian in Season 3 of Shrinking, which we will hopefully be able to stream with an Apple TV+ subscription sooner rather than later.

After two seasons, Shrinking’s brilliance has finally been understood by the Emmys. The sitcom, which is streaming with an Apple TV+ subscription, nabbed seven 2025 Emmy nominations, with Harrison Ford getting his first-ever nomination. Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, and co-creator/star Jason Segel also got nods for their performances, and celebrations were certainly in order. Let me tell you, seeing Ford, Williams, and Urie’s texts that celebrated the news seriously made my week.

While this is Williams’ second Emmy nomination for Shrinking, having previously been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy in 2023, this is both Urie and Ford’s first. The Brian actor, who was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy, shared a sweet text on Instagram from fellow Outstanding Supporting Actor nominee Ford, and their enthusiasm is infectious:

Despite being nominated in the same category, there's clearly no competition here, as they obviously support each other and they're overjoyed about the fact that they are both first-time nominees. And seeing that kind of adoration, celebration and mutual care might be better than the nomination itself.

They are not the only ones celebrating, though. Williams was feeling as grateful as ever for her second nomination, sharing a heartfelt message on Instagram along with a series of photos that include a text from the Star Wars actor. I can’t decide what’s better: his text (which you can see below), the exclamation point next to his name, or the fact that the photo Williams has for his contact picture is of him eating at the SAG Awards:

It’s an exciting time for the Shrinking cast, crew, and fans, and it’s very sweet to see how enthusiastic some of the actors are when it comes to their own Emmy nominations. It’s unknown what Williams said back to Ford after he texted her, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it was similar to his exchange with Urie.

Since all three of them are up against some pretty stiff competition, it’s hard to predict if any of them will win. But it can be assumed that if that happens, they will be as excited as ever for each other. It should also be interesting to see how Ford and Urie do being nominated in the same category, but if their texts are any proof, that shouldn’t be a problem. If anything, they might have fun competing for the same award.

With seven nominations under its belt for the 2025 Emmys, it’s unknown if Shrinking will take any home, but just being nominated is an accomplishment itself.

Now, to see if anyone from the Shrinking family takes home the gold, the upcoming awards show airs on September 14 on CBS. Also, Shrinking Season 3 will be coming soon to Apple TV+ sometime in the near future, and the first two seasons are available to stream now.

Back in 2023, when the Emmy nominations were announced, I was fuming. Shrinking had blown me away with its first season, and while it got recognized by the Television Academy, it was seriously underappreciated. That’s because Harrison Ford wasn’t nominated! Well, now the 2025 Emmys have fixed the major snub and made matters even better by nominating more of the Shrinking cast and specifically recognizing Ford’s outstanding performance as Paul.

That’s right! After an absolutely stunning second season (which you can stream with an Apple TV+ subscription), the Emmys have officially recognized my favorite performer in the series. Harrison Ford is a true revelation in Shrinking, and I’m jumping for joy that he’s included on the following list of nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series:

I could literally scream from the rooftops about this news! Since Season 1, I’ve been of the opinion that Shrinking was easily one of Harrison Ford’s best performances ever. So, the fact that he didn’t get a nomination the first time around was blasphemy.

However, now everything is fixed. And thank goodness, because his work in Season 2 is even better than it was in the first installment. That’s all because this season really leaned into the actor’s skills as both a comedic and dramatic actor.

Watching Paul try to sing in the car with Gaby, hilarious. Seeing him rock the canoe with Jimmy, I was laughing out loud. All of his disapproving expressions, brilliant!

However, this season was more than that. Along with bringing the funny, Ford also had to perfectly balance a very heavy story with it. In Season 2, Paul’s Parkinson’s started to get worse, and he had to come to terms with how his life was changing because of it. That required the actor who plays him to show a totally new and vulnerable side of himself while also being hilarious. Just take a look at his tearjerking speech from the Season 2 finale, and you’ll see exactly what I mean, because he made me laugh and cry in a matter of minutes effortlessly.

So yeah, this nomination is huge news and incredibly well deserved.

Every single one of the show’s other nominations was earned, too. Along with Ford, Michael Urie, who plays Brian and was a standout in Season 2, was also nominated for the first time in this category, which is incredible. Meanwhile, Jason Segel and Jessica Williams were nominated for Lead Actor in a Comedy and Supporting Actress in a Comedy, respectively. They were both notably nominated for Season 1 as well.

This series, which is one of Apple TV+’s best, also grabbed nods in Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (half-hour) and Animation.

So, all around, it’s a great day to be a Shrinking fan. However, it’s an even better day for us Harrison Ford fans, because the actor finally got recognized for a role he’s deserved this kind of acknowledgement for since day one.

Now, it’s time to start hoping for a win! To see if Harrison Ford takes home the trophy, you can tune into the 77th Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 14 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Then, make sure to keep an eye on the TV schedule, because Season 3 of Shrinking is in production, and I expect more brilliant performances from the Paul actor and all his co-stars are in the cards.

I don’t know about you, but I’m still thinking about Harrison Ford’s emotional speech from the Season 2 finale of Shrinking. It’s one of the show’s most vulnerable moments (which is saying a lot, because the series is full of them), and it’s an epic display of the legendary actor’s talents. So, it’s not hard for me to understand why two of the show's stars, Jason Segel and Jessica Williams, said this moment left the entire cast “weeping.”

While I’m so excited for Season 3 of Shrinking and desperate to know what happens next, some moments from Season 2 hit me so hard they’re still with me. One of those instances (which you can stream with an Apple TV+ subscription) was Paul’s Thanksgiving speech. During it, he addresses his morality, how his Parkinson’s will continue to impact him, and the love he has for everyone in that room.

Hearing him say “I’m leaning on you” and so vulnerably opening up about the challenges ahead was deeply impactful and tear-jerking. During an interview with EW, Jimmy actor, Jason Segel, explained why, saying:

Jessica Williams went on to say that witnessing Ford perform this scene was “the best acting” she’d “ever seen in person.”

Both these points go along with what Michael Urie, who plays Brian, told me back when the finale aired. He explained that while Ford shows “no signs of slowing down,” “there’s an inevitability” that one day, everyone has to slow down and eventually stop.

That’s not an easy idea to comprehend, and it’s even scarier to think about when you are faced with it head-on. In the show, Paul is doing just that, because of his Parkinson’s. Season 2 showed him struggling to find the best way to take his medicine as he dealt with the physical challenges of the disease. In Season 3, it will likely impact him more, and that’s really emotional.

However, his strength is also inspiring. To that point, showrunner Bill Lawrence once said that Michael J. Fox (who will be in Season 3) informed how Parkinson’s was represented on the show, because they wanted to create "hopefully an inspiring" story for Paul, rather than a “sad or tragic” one.

Now, back to that scene, the Gaby actress reiterated that it was “a weeping sitch,” and after filming it, she was outside taking a moment when the Indiana Jones star came up to support her. Williams said:

In the scene, Paul makes a point that “we can get through anything if we have people to lean on.” The way Ford reacted to Williams right after that proves that point, and further exemplifies why this moment was so emotional.

Along with all of that, Segel noted that this scene probably gave the 1923 actor the chance to show off a part of his talent that he “never got to show” before. Shrinking does mark a big shift in Ford's filmography, as it was the first series he’d ever been a regular on. It’s also tonally so different than the action films we know and love him for.

So, seeing him perform in this way is also a reason to get emotional, because we really are watching a master at work.

All around, this moment proved why Shrinking is one of Apple TV+’s best shows and why Harrison Ford is so brilliant. There wasn’t a dry eye on set as he performed, and I have to assume viewers had a very similar response because I know I did.

When you ask someone who the best actor of the last 60 years is, there is a decent chance Robert De Niro will be the name that comes out of their mouth. For many, many decades, De Niro has been stealing scenes and working his tail off to be the best actor he can be. He's gained weight for roles, dropped weight for others, and gotten completely cut for still others. All the while delivering his trademark charm and skills.

Cher

If you could turn back time and you were taking bets in the 1960s that Cher would still be one of the biggest stars in the world in the 2020s, you would probably get pretty good odds that she wouldn't be. She's proven everyone wrong, winning an Oscar for Moonstruck and continuing to wow audiences with her concerts.

Martin Sheen

It's hard to say just what role Martin Sheen will be best remembered for long after he's gone. Will it be Jeb Bartlett on The West Wing? Captain Benjamin L. Willard in Apocalypse Now? Carl Fox in Wall Street? Robert E. Lee in Gettysburg? What is for sure is that Sheen, who landed his first movie role in 1967, will be remembered fondly by millions of fans.

Vanessa Redgrave

English actress Vanessa Redgrave got her star in period pieces like A Man For All Seasons and Camelot in the 1960s. She parlayed that into a decades-long career that is still going, including a role in Cold Storage in 2025.

Ian McKellen

For modern generations, Ian McKellen is known for his roles as Gandalf the Grey and Magneto, but his career is so, so much more. One of the great Shakespearean actors of the last 60 years, he's been starring on stage and screen since the mid-'60s.

Patrick Stewart

Like others on this list, Patrick Stewart will be best known for roles that came in the second half of his career, like Captain Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Professor X in The X-Men series. Of course, his career is much more than those two roles. It's a career that started in TV in the '60s on British shows like Coronation Street and Civilisation.

For a multitude of reasons, my dream guest star for Shrinking has always been Michael J. Fox. So, when it was announced that Fox would be joining Shrinking in Season 3, I properly freaked out. Now, I’m overwhelmed with anticipation and hope that new episodes might premiere on the 2025 TV schedule. So, as we wait for those and to see who he plays, I’ve been thinking a lot about the possibilities, and these are three of the ideas I’ve come up with.

Michael J. Fox Could Be A Mentor For Harrison Ford’s Character, Paul

This feels like the most obvious way to include Michael J. Fox in the show. Paul, Harrison Ford’s character, is learning to live with his Parkinson’s, and it’s been implied that it’s going to get harder for him. So, it would be meaningful to see the Family Ties actor play a mentor to him.

It’s no secret that Fox’s own journey with Parkinson’s has impacted how the disease has been represented on Shrinking. The show’s co-creator, Bill Lawrence, worked closely with the Back to the Future actor on Spin City and cast him as a guest star on Scrubs. During a conversation with People, he noted that Fox was his “first mentor,” and that relationship helped them depict living with Parkinson’s in an “inspiring” way.

Knowing that and knowing how much positive light Fox has helped shine on Parkinson’s, it’d make a lot of sense if he played Paul's mentor. Maybe he leads a support group. Maybe he’s a friend of a friend whom Paul befriends to learn more about living with the disease.

I feel like this would be a super meaningful and direct way to incorporate Fox into Season 3 of Shrinking. Plus, it’d mean we would see him and Ford sharing scenes, and that’d just be a dream come true.

Maybe Michael J. Fox Will Play A Therapist

The last time we saw Fox act on screen was on The Good Fight in 2020, as he reprised his role of Louis Canning. He first played the lawyer while guest-starring on The Good Wife, and seeing him go toe-to-toe with the other attorneys on the show was always really fun. So, with that in mind, it could be entertaining to see him in the same occupation as many of the characters on Shrinking.

This would open a door for him to work with Ford, Jason Segel and Jessica Williams at the very least, seeing as they’re the three therapists on the show. Then, hopefully, it could open the door for him to potentially therapize and interact with the other members of the iconic Shrinking cast.

I Wonder If Michael J. Fox’s Character Could Be Related To Jimmy Or Liz

My final guess, and this feels like a stretch, is that the Family Ties star could be introduced onto this show as a relative of Jimmy or Liz. We know Jeff Daniels has been cast in Season 3 to play Jimmy’s dad, and it’d be nice to meet other members of these characters’ families.

I’d love to see Christa Miller -- who plays Liz, is married to Bill Lawrence, and was on Scrubs -- share some scenes with Fox. I also think their quick wit would complement each other quite well.

It’d be entertaining to see how Jimmy interacts with Fox’s character, too, especially if they’re related somehow.

Obviously, all of these are just guesses, and we’ll find out who the actor is playing when we’re finally able to watch Season 3 of Shrinking with that handy Apple TV+ subscription. Considering how shocking Brett Goldstein’s role was in Season 2, I’m sure they’ve created a meaningful and surprising character for Michael J. Fox. So, I truly cannot wait to see him return to the screen in this beloved comedy.

I’d imagine pitching a project to Harrison Ford would be incredibly intimidating, especially if you are proposing something that's unlike anything the actor has done before, like Shrinking. Well, Brett Goldstein had to do just that; he had to try and convince the Indiana Jones actor to do the now-great Apple TV+ show. However, according to Ford, the Ted Lasso actor “blew” that pitch. It’s not for a bad reason, though; it’s actually for a pretty incredible one.

If you are a fan of Shrinking, you might be aware of the fact that co-creators Jason Segel, Brett Goldstein and Bill Lawrence offered the role of Paul to Harrison Ford, but they expected him to say no. During this time, the Roy Kent actor was sent to pitch the series to the Star Wars star. However, according to Ford, the pitch wasn’t necessary, as he said during a panel posted by reelrejects on TikTok:

So, Goldstein “blew” it, because Harrison Ford already wanted to do the series. That’s pretty incredible, right?

It only got better when the Emmy winner added some context to the story. He said he had a whole game plan prepared, but that went out the window basically as soon as his now co-star answered the door:

I wouldn’t know what to say next, either. So I totally understand where Brett Goldstein was coming from. Even though he didn’t need to really pitch the show to Ford, they did have a nice meal and a good chat, as the Blade Runner actor continued the conversation by saying:

He went on to explain that he’s “so honored” to be part of the Shrinking cast and surrounded by creatives like Goldstein, Jason Segel and more. So, it’s clear that that quick yes paid off big time for everyone involved. In fact, Ford loves working on this show a whole lot, and went as far as to say during a Paley Center panel last year that he’s “never felt as comfortable” or as confident in both himself and his co-stars as he has working on this series.

However, there’s a bit more to this story that the 1923 actor didn’t mention. According to Bill Lawrence, when they sent him the pilot, Ford asked if he was going to get more screentime than he initially had. The Scrubs creator said if he did it, of course, he would.

Along with that, since Jason Segel leads the show, the Paul actor rewatched Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Then when asked what he thought of the movie, he told a producer of Shrinking that Segel had a “nice penis.”

So, all around, this tale of casting Harrison Ford is hilarious and wonderful. Even though Brett Goldstein didn’t know what to say during his pitch, his colleague's mind was already made up.

Now, we’re on our way toward Shrinking Season 3, which only makes this story better. So, while we wait for that, you can go back and see what came after that fateful meeting between Harrison Ford and Brett Goldstein by streaming the first two seasons with an Apple TV+ subscription.

Although Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross has been part of the MCU since The Incredible Hulk, once it was announced that Harrison Ford was taking over the role from the late William Hurt for Captain America: Brave New World, that kicked off speculation that Red Hulk was coming. However, rather than keep Ross’ transformation into this scarlet behemoth a secret, the first Brave New World trailer confirmed at the very end that Red Hulk would indeed show up. Director Julius Onah explained why it was necessary to reveal this appearance to the public ahead of Brave New World premiering on the 2025 movies schedule, and he makes some good points.

A lot of the marketing for Captain America: Brave New World, which can now be streamed with a Disney+ subscription, focused on the third act fight between Red Hulk and Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, who embraced the star-spangled mantle at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. While some might have preferred most, if not all of this clash be left out of the movie’s marketing, Onah told Empire that this just wasn’t a realistic option, saying:

If you’re like me and were closely following along with the Captain America: Brave New World news cycle, then frankly, Red Hulk’s appearance shouldn’t have been shocking. Rumors were rampant about his inclusion months ahead of the movie’s release, but from the perspective of an average moviegoer, seeing a tease of Red Hulk was probably a jolting moment. Regardless, I agree that it would have great if Red Hulk had been kept a surprise in Brave New World, just like how I think it would’ve been better if Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s marketing had avoided showing Doomsday.

But as Julius Onah wisely pointed out, between Harrison Ford being cast as Thaddeus Ross, Marvel Comics fans being well aware how the character has been able to turn into Red Hulk since 2008, and the toys and other merchandise that are released ahead of the movie, there was just no way to keep something like that a secret. Honestly, it probably helped with drumming up interest for Captain America: Brave New World. Since Tim Blake Nelson’s Leader was largely kept out of marketing outside of the odd voice clip, Red Hulk fills in nicely as another visually distinctive adversary to catch people’s attention.

It’s hard to say if we’ll see Harrison Ford in the MCU again, though I feel like it’s a missed opportunity for Red Hulk not to come to blows with Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk someday. However, fans of the new Captain America can look forward to Anthony Mackie reprising him in the upcoming Marvel movies Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

It was just three months ago that Captain America: Brave New World was released onto the 2025 movies schedule, and it’s been available on home media for a month. Now the time has come for those of you who’ve been waiting to watch Brave New World with a Disney+ subscription to do just that, as the 35th MCU movie is finally available on the Mouse House’s streaming platform. What It’s Like Being A Part Of The Marvel Cinematic Universe?

You may recall how in mid-April, we shared a behind-the-scenes video going over Sam Wilson fighting enemies “way above his weight class” in Captain America: Brave New World. Now we have this video that starts off spotlighting Harrison Ford, Giancarlo Esposito and Shira Haas discussing why they enjoyed getting to take part in the MCU.

Ford, who played President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, kicked off by saying how he signed on to take over the role previously played by the late William Hurt signed onto Brave New World because he was enticed by the actors who appear in these movies and the quality of the work they do while having fun. It looked “attractive” to him, and he was “delighted” to have the opportunity to be a part of it. This marked Ford’s superhero movie debut, and it was made an even bigger deal with how he did the motion capture work for portraying the Red Hulk-transformed Ross.

Giancarlo Esposito, who played Sidewinder in scenes from the Captain America: Brave New World reshoots, described being in the movie as a “dream come true.” Not only does he admire what Marvel Studios does, he described his daughter as a “Captain America freak,” so of course he was going to accept this opportunity. Shira Haas, who played Ruth Bat-Seraph, also described being in Brave New World as a “dream,” as well as a privilege, and described her experience as being part of a “family.”

What’s It Like Working With Harrison Ford?

Going back to Harrison Ford, this clip also shows director Julius Onah and producer Nate Moore talking about what it was like for them to work with the Indiana Jones actor. Onah acknowledged that it was initially “intimidating” because he’s such an “icon,” but then soon realized how “down to Earth” he was and enjoyed talking with him about what needed to be done with Thaddeus Ross. Moore called Ford a “legend” and was impressed by how seriously the actor took the process of making sure Ross and Red Hulk felt like real people.

Considering that Captain America: Brave New World ended with Ross still alive and incarcerated within The Vault so that he couldn’t endanger anyone if he Red Hulk-ed out again, I’m crossing my fingers that he’s secretly set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday and/or Avengers: Secret Wars. The kind of muscle he’s packing would come in handy against Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom. Meanwhile, Anthony Mackie will for sure fly back into action as Sam Wilson when Doomsday comes out on December 18, 2026.

Much like Harrison Ford in the 1980s, Pedro Pascal and Paul Mescal are both having movie star moments. They made a splash last fall as part of the Gladiator 2 cast, Pascal is set to lead the upcoming Marvel movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and Mescal is starring in films like The History of Sound and Hamnet. Also, like Ford, they know how to put together a great outfit, and they proved that again by paying homage to the legendary actor at Cannes in the same way.

However, what I really love about all of this is that it happened not long after the Indiana Jones star shared his on-brand thoughts about this exact image and outfit.

Pedro Pascal And Paul Mescal Both Paid Tribute To Harrison Ford At Cannes

Now, before we dive into Mescal and Pascal’s looks, you need a brief history lesson. Back in 1982, Harrison Ford was featured in a photo taken in front of the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes. He was at the Cannes Film Festival, and for decades now, folks have fawned over his effortless swagger and simple yet cool look, which you can see below:

Now, as both Pascal and Mescal attended Cannes to promote projects on the 2025 movie schedule, they each paid homage to this exact image of Ford in fabulous ways.

The Last of Us star was going viral for wearing a black tank top and black trousers (as shown in an image via @pascalarchive), and the image of him posing in front of the hotel, with his sunglasses on and hands in his pockets, was the cherry on top. He was there for his upcoming A24 flick Eddington, and when you mix that with the truly stellar lineup he has in 2025, all of this is giving big Harrison Ford, movie star energy.

A few days later, the Normal People actor also posed for an image in front of the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc as his film The History of Sound premiered at the festival. Like Ford, he was wearing a blue sweater, sunglasses, and putting a hand in his pocket, as you can see in his stylist Felicity Kay's Instagram post:

Without the Harrison Ford reference, these two looks would be noteworthy, because both men look so chic and cool. However, considering Ford’s iconic characters, his best films, and that old viral image, these fashion moments become even better.

However, honestly, the best part of all this is how the Star Wars actor feels about his now-legendary look from the ‘80s.

I’m Obsessed With Harrison Ford’s Feelings About This Image And Being A Fashion Icon

Now, months before all this, in October 2024, to be exact, this image was brought up to Harrison Ford. In an interview with GQ, Gabriella Paiella asked the actor if he was “aware” of the fact that this 1982 look was a “sort of shining-star inspirational outfit for menswear enthusiasts.” In response, and in true Harrison Ford fashion, I might add, he responded with:

Truly, what an incredible answer. However, it only got better after that. When asked if he remembered anything about this fit, the Shrinking star simply stated:

And when asked if he’s “not a fan” of the look, he simply replied:

And that was the end of that conversation.

It’s no secret that Harrison Ford has a hilarious history of roasting interviewers (like Jimmy Kimmel) and providing short, yet iconic, responses. This is another example of that, and truly, I love it.

Ford has such a good sense of humor, and this exemplifies that. On top of that, I also loved that the interviewer asked him about this wonderful photo that has clearly inspired so many actors (as proven above).

This man is an icon on screen and off, and honestly, in the world of menswear too, thanks to looks like this. So, he deserves his flowers…whether they make him feel “ill” or not.

After a two-year absence, and after the fifth and final-ish season of its predecessor Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan’s 1923 landed on the 2025 TV schedule to wrap up its second season with a variety of deadly outcomes for multiple main characters, including Julia Schlaepfer’s Alexandra Dutton and Brandon Sklenar’s Spencer. Things were thankfully less fatal for Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren’s Jacob and Cara Dutton, propping the metaphorical door open for their potential returns. Just how much potential’s there, though?

One might think the answer is “zilch,” but that’d underestimate just how enjoyable both Ford and Mirren found filming 1923 to be. Both A-tier actors were on hand to talk about the Paramount+ series for an FYC Q&A — an event I doubt either would have attended if they weren’t all-in on the Duttons — and while Ford shared his interest level on potentially reprising Jacob for an upcoming Yellowstone show, Mirren talked baby John and the long-gestating sequel-prequel 1944, first announced in November 2023.

Harrison Ford On Possibly Returning To Yellowstone-Verse As Jacob Dutton

Despite starring in some of the most successful and celebrated movie franchises in existence in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford isn't an actor that's ever been synonymous with sequels, and even his Jack Ryan movies are mutually exclusive enough. But he spoke quite highly about 1923's final episode, saying it was "fantastic" and "probaby the densest script" that he's lent his efforts to in years.

So with 1944 on the way and no direct signs of when and/or how Jacob and Cara meet their makers, it's still feasible for Ford's now-retired rancher to survive into the next series in grandpa-mode. And it doesn't sound like the actor would reject the offer to come back, either. As he put it:

One can only hope that franchise ringleader Taylor Sheridan himself has a clear idea of where he's taking the Duttons' story, and whether it'll eventually link up directly with the mothership series. And logistically speaking, I don't think he'd be that interested in having 100-year-old Jacob Dutton strutting around in 1944, but I think it would be a great move to pepper that show with flashbacks that lay out how Jacob, Cara and Spencer got on together after their extended time apart.

But Helen Mirren's Thoughts About Baby John Have Me More Curious

Interestingly enough, 1923 ends on an adorable note for Cara Dutton, whose final moments have her cradling Spender and Alex's John Dutton II. And for all the speculation that's gone into that baby's existence - here's what the cast told CinemaBlend about it - no one taking part in the FYC chat was coughing up any additional details.

But Mirren sounded pretty interested in the idea of 1923 closing out on youth and age coming together in such a way, and I have to wonder if she'd be interested in exploring Cara's motherly skills with an actual infant instead of grown kids. Here's how she described it:

Indeed, that generation will likely be heavily impacted by both Cara and Jacob Dutton, as well as Spencer (whose flash-forward death was laid out in 1923's final moments). So it would possibly feel like too empty of a house if 1944 arrives and it's just Spencer, another wife, and two kids that viewers don't know anything about. Sure would be good to have something familiar around in that case, such as Harrison Ford's face made up to look 20 years old. Or maybe that'd be frightening. I can't quite tell.

I guess it's worth pointing out here that 1923 technically hasn't been canceled or anything, so it's possible that Season 3 could happen and give fans a more direct look at Cara and Jacob raising John II. But we'll have to wait and see if Paramount+'s execs make any publicized decisions going forward.
