After premiering her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover last week, the How I Met Your Father star made an appearance at the American Music Awards on Sunday for the first time in more than 20 years. And just like she stunned on the cover of SI despite not wearing a bikini, she shone on the red carpet in a plunging silver gown.

It’s been 21 years since Hilary Duff last walked the red carpet at the AMAs in 2005, and she made quite the spectacular return in a shiny silver dress by Rabanne. Wide silver straps supported a plunging V-neckline, as the actress left her shoulders bare. Check out her look below:

She’s been working with the fitness app Ladder to help her stay motivated, and whatever she’s doing is definitely working.

Many women can relate to what the singer/actress has gone through struggling with self-confidence, and it’s great to not only have her speak out about her experience but to see her push through these fears in order to have these experiences like modeling for SI and presenting at the AMAs.

In February she released her sixth studio album luck... or something — her first since 2015 — which features a track called "We Don't Talk." We don’t have a premiere date on the 2026 TV schedule for that yet, but it will be available to stream with a Hulu subscription when it hits the streamer.

And in the end, the Younger star didn't need to wear a two piece to make an impact and look amazing on the cover of Sports Illustrated's iconic swimsuit issue.

Over the past few years, SI has made a habit out of putting a variety of celebrities on the cover of the swimsuit issue. Case in point: in 2023 a group of celebs were featured, including both Megan Fox and Martha Stewart. A number of different suits have been worn by these cover models, so I have to assume the publication was happy to accommodate Duff's request. There are plenty of ways to be beautiful besides wearing a bikini.

In addition to seeing the actual cover images, plenty of folks tune in to BTS footage of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue coming together. And Hillary Duff is also sharing what it was like from her perspective. The pressure was no doubt on, but she still delivered big time in the now-viral images.

While fans are still mourning the cancelled Lizzie McGuire reboot, Hilary Duff has been keeping busy. Her new album quickly got the attention of her generations of fans, and she's been touring as a result of luck... or something's popularity. From Padma Lakshmi rocking a bikini decades after she anticipated to Megan Fox and Martha Stewart being part of 2023’s shoot, to Jordan Chiles putting on swimwear for 2025’s issue, there’s always a diverse group recruited each year, and often, they get candid about what it’s like to be part of this iconic pop culture moment. This year, Hilary Duff was one of the cover models, and she got real about not feeling model-worthy and the urge to get in “rip-roaring shape.”

Looking at Duff’s SI cover, it’s clear that she’s in excellent shape, and she looks drop-dead gorgeous. However, going into the experience, the actress got candid about why she didn’t feel the urge to say yes immediately. Recalling what she was thinking when the call from Sports Illustrated came in, Duff told Kylie Kelce on Not Gonna Lie:

Kylie Kelce cut in to say that “these photos suggest otherwise,” as images from Duff’s shoot popped up on screen. And I’d have to agree with the podcast host, the Lizzie McGuire star looks like a model (and I'd argue she always has).

While Duff’s first instincts involved a bit of fear, overall, she was very excited to take this on. It also helped that she adored the team she’d be working with on this shoot, as she explained:

She went on to recall that the photoshoot happened in Turks and Caicos, and she flew in for it “the night of the Super Bowl.” She then immediately left to go do a concert in Vegas, so, as she put it, it was a “whirlwind.” However, she loved it, saying:

Overall, Duff made it clear that she’s proud of her body and where she is in life. She’s a proud mom of four kids – Luca, 14, Banks, 7, Mae, 5, and Townes, 1 – she’s just reignited her music career, she’s in fantastic shape, and all around she seems to be thriving. Adding to all that goodness, she was honored to be asked to do the Sports Illustrated swim issue. Further explaining that point, she said:

Over the years, women, like Salma Hayek, have been open about doing the shoot and the nerves that come with it. It makes sense, too. It takes a lot of confidence to do something like this, and the people on these covers always look absolutely stunning. So, I get the nerves.

However, in the end, Hilary Duff rocked the cover, and I really appreciate how real she kept it as she recalled what it was like to go through this whirlwind experience.

Hilary Duff remains booked and busy, and I’m not just talking about her acting gigs. The former child star has emerged a media personality, and she’s also jumped back into the music scene as of late. Now, Duff can claim yet another major professional accomplishment, as she recently graced the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue. The cover looks absolutely stunning, and Duff seems to be quite proud of her accomplishment. But what’s making me laugh is her following up the SI showcase with a funny look at her home life.

From time to time, Duff (38) shares cute family photos and small insights into her domestic life, and they’re typically quite sweet. So it tracks that the Cadet Kelly star would post a not-so-glamorous photo to her Instagram story after looking flawless during the SI cover shoot. Based on the photo below at least one of Duff’s kids decided to give her a bit of a makeover involving crayons or markers. I love when celebrities can be self-deprecating, so I definitely have a soft spot for this post. What it exemplifies is that while Duff certainly has a public persona that can appear quite pristine and glows under the bright lights of Hollywood, that merely ties back to what she does. On the other hand, what she is is a mother of four, who (by the looks of it) doesn’t mind indulging her kids at her own expense. That, in my humble opinion, is what makes Duff a true icon.

Of course, the fact that Duff is also now an SI cover model does indeed help with that “icon” status as well. The fitness buff also posted plenty of behind-the-scenes tidbits from the photoshoot to her Instagram account as well. Hilary Duff is now in rarified air, as she shares the distinction of SI cover model with a number of other famous ladies. For instance, fellow actress Megan Fox modeled for the publication back in 2023, while Salma Hayek also posed in 2025 in flawless fashion at the age of 58. Olympic athlete Jordan Chiles also became a cover model in ‘25, and she later opened up about how it helped her embrace her body. So, needless to say, this very exclusive club has some truly excellent members.

As for Duff, this has certainly been a major year for her from a professional standpoint. The How I Met Your Father star not only released her first album in over a decade, Luck... or Something, but she also performed her first concert in nearly 20 years. She’s certainly crushing it right now and, quite frankly, I love to see it.

Of course, I also wouldn’t mind seeing further glimpses into Hilary Duff’s home life by way of any fun photos or videos she shares. Although she may be a massive star, that crayon makeover and other sweet candid moments with her kids that she posts about help make Duff feel a bit more grounded.

A lot of times when we are discussing celebrity fitness and the reasons folks in Tinseltown tend to work out, words like “Marvel” or “action movies” enter the picture. (Seriously, Adria Arjona recently got swole and everyone can only talk about Man of Tomorrow.) In Hilary Duff’s case, fitness has always been a focal point, but people were still super shocked when she dropped recent pics following major weightlifting gains, and some of the comments are just A+.

But first, if you somehow missed Duff’s picture dump, here it is. Nothing like a lady stacking weights on a bar to get one inspired for their own gym going.

Duff’s posts were in support of the app Ladder, which is a subscription based app with hundreds of thousands of positive reviews on the app store. In a video for the brand, she admitted that it’s “not easy” to stay “motivated” to work out, but the ease of use of the app helps her to stay on track.

She’s a mom of four, and often on the go for work and family alike, and I think her messaging is something a lot of parents understand. If you take time to drive miles to the gym or classes, you are sometimes missing cuddles, kisses and playtime. It’s great if you have a partner or enough of a flexible schedule to be able to work in the gym or group classes, but there are other options. This is what helped her get fit and stay motivated to do so.

And fit she very much is. Some other fitness experts and TV personalities have definitely noticed, and are very impressed.

Still, my favorite comment came from Ladder’s instructor Erica Clement-Goudy, who reposted a video about the rear delt work Ms. Duff has been doing. She also added her own amusing “Hilary Buff, apparently” comment to the mix.

Fitness is and has always been a huge part of working in Hollywood, and there are some extreme takes out there. Outside of personal training with Seneda Greca, Kim Kardashian walks a lot on top of all the other stuff she has going. Others like JLo and Mark Wahlberg wake up at 4 a.m. to ensure they remain in peak physical shape. Don't even get me started on The Rock's leg days.

The average person does not have to go quite so hard in the paint to see results. From what Hilary Duff is saying, though, you can look great, and just do it with an app.

Earlier this year the Internet became obsessed with Ashley Tisdale’s “toxic” mom group drama, and it’s easy to see why — it was petty, it was relatable, and it involved several celebrities. Hilary Duff was suspected of being a key target of the High School Musical alum’s essay in The Cut, but Meghan Trainor’s name also got dropped in all the brouhaha. Now, the “All About That Bass” singer has spoken out about her recent conversation with Tisdale and why Trainor called herself a “bad mom friend.”

In January, Ashley Tisdale penned an article titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,” and while she didn’t name names, there was plenty of evidence showing her on trips, etc., with other moms like Mandy Moore, Haylie Duff and sister Hilary, so fans were pretty sure they knew which group she meant. Meghan Trainor had been in that group, too, but she said by the time the drama went down, she wasn’t anymore. She explained to US Weekly:

Meghan Trainor may not be involved with the mom group anymore, but it doesn’t sound like there’s any bad blood there at all. It seems perfectly understandable that between a busy career and three kids under 5, Trainor couldn’t find time to be active in the group chat or attend the other events.

So apparently she was caught off-guard when all the Ashley Tisdale drama started. She continued:

Apparently fans thought that because Meghan Trainor wasn’t seen around the other women in the group, many assumed she’d been the so-called “toxic” member. Even RHOBH’s Crystal Kung Minkoff got involved!

Meghan Trainor didn’t care, though, and even posted a TikTok to that effect, set to her song "Still Don’t Care.” For the record, the singer has spoken to Ashley Tisdale and said she wants only the best for the former Disney star and the other moms:

It’s true, we do need something to talk about, and if that can be some easily digestible, petty drama involving actresses we grew up with, even better.

Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray co-starred in one of the best teen rom-coms, A Cinderella Story, and they're still beloved, in part, due to that film. The pair became synonymous during the early aughts and, around that time, One Tree Hill star even invited Duff to the premiere of Freaky Friday, in which he co-starred with Lindsay Lohan. Duff recently explained that the invite came amid her feud with Lohan, but how much of that was actually Murray aware of?

Lohan and Duff were the true teen queens of the '00s, to say the least In time, the two Disney alums were in an alleged love triangle with pop singer Aaron Carter, contributing to their aforementioned tiff. So, from the outside looking in, Murray inviting Duff to the premiere of Freaky Friday (streamable with a Disney+ subscription), where Lohan was in attendance, would seem shady. Murray cleared the air, set the record straight, however, while appearing on Virgin Radio Toronto:

To me personally, Chad Michael Murray doesn’t seem like the type to knowingly get himself entangled in such drama. Still, it's so wild that by extending the invitation to Duff (who "glows" according to her former co-star), Murray became a key footnote in the Duff/Lohan feud.

Hilary Duff's crashing of the Freaky Friday premiere came up during a recent episode of Call Her Daddy. It was during that episode of the podcast, that Duff confirmed she accepted the invite in order to spite her “childhood nemesis.” She even went so far as to admit she told Murray she “probably should” attend the premiere after he invited her. Although there certainly seemed to be some drama brewing beneath the surface, Murray -- who said he only found out about the beef after the premiere -- actually had a more practical reason for inviting Duff to that event:

Honestly, I like the idea of the Cinderella Story crew wanting Murray and Duff to get to know each other during filming, and I'd argue that it worked. Many who love the film say both actors have great chemistry in it, and I'm among those who loves seeing the two play off each other on camera. However, as mentioned during the interview, it is ironic that the producers would want Duff and Murray to try to hang out casually during an event that was far from normal.

Chad Michael Murray's intentions aside, Lindsay Lohan ended up retaliating in her own way when she attended Hilary Duff’s Cheaper by the Dozen premiere. Lohan even poked fun at the Agent Cody Banks star in a 2004 SNL skit where Rachel Dratch portrayed an over-the-top version of Duff. Amid his recent interview, Murray continued to talk about being completely oblivious to any of that drama between the two actresses:

Murray -- who's married to Sarah Roemer and shares three kids with her -- makes a good point that if the whole feud were happening today, everything would have been overanalyzed on social media. But, back in the ‘00s, feuds existed, but I'd argue that they were harder to track without intense tracking across digital mediums.

Fortunately, Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff’s beef is so yesterday (sorry, I had to do it), as Duff said the two agreed that they were “good” when they saw each other at a club and celebrated with a shot. The Raise Your Voice actress even had a sense of humor when kids mistook her for Lohan in a Betches video. Considering the two singer/actresses are both grown now and married with kids, it's very understandable why they'd now just want to let bygones be bygones.

Who would have thought that Chad Michael Murray’s innocent invitation for Hilary Duff to attend one of his premieres would contribute to one of the most awkward teen-Hollywood rivalries? The drama may have been tantalizing to those in the know years ago but, today, I'm glad it all appears to be water under the bridge.

Robert Carradine died by suicide on Monday at the age of 71, leading to an outpouring of tributes from the Lizzie McGuire cast, along with words from his family, Jamie Lee Curtis and more. Now, Hilary Duff has shared more thoughts about the recent tragic passing of her TV dad.

Carradine’s death occurred as Hilary Duff is in the middle of a comeback to music and just released her first album in over a decade, Luck… or Something. So, when the singer spoke to NPR about her new project, her Lizzie McGuire co-star came up. Here’s what Duff had to say about the loss:

When Carradine’s family revealed the actor had died on Monday to Deadline, they detailed that the Revenge of the Nerds star took his own life after a “two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder.” The statement also shared hopes that their transparency might shed light on “the stigma that attaches to mental illness.”

Duff shared that she had “no idea” Carradine had struggles with mental illness, as they didn’t remain particularly close over the years. The Lizzie McGuire actress met the late actor after crushing her audition at the age of 13. Since they have a 33-year age gap, it’s not surprising they didn’t talk much. There was a scrapped Lizzie McGuire revival that could have reunited the pair at one time, but it never came to fruition.

Prior to these comments, Hilary Duff took to Instagram to share a tribute to her TV dad, saying “it’s really hard to face this reality about an old friend.” She said she “always felt so cared for” by her on-screen parents and will be “forever grateful” for them. Duff also said in the message that her “heart aches” for anyone feeling the loss of Carradine’s death.

Jake Thomas, who played Lizzie’s brother Matt, also paid tribute to Carradine, calling him “one of the coolest guys you could ever meet.” Lalaine, who played Miranda, called the loss “not fair,” but shared her gratitude for the actor’s “constant fatherly-like support.”

Along with Lizzie McGuire, Carradine had a long career in the movies and TV dating back to the early 1970s. He is survived by his three children, grandchildren, brothers, nieces and nephews. Watching Lizzie McGuire is definitely going to hit different after the sad news. When it comes to the premier teen idols of the early 2000s, there’s no doubt Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan are amongst the most iconic stars to fit that bill. Both of the actresses amassed a lot of notoriety due to their work with Disney. As Lohan and Duff became popular during the early aughts, there were also rumors of a brewing feud between them. One long-running piece of lore has even suggested that Duff crashed Lohan’s Freaky Friday premiere as part of that spat. Now, Duff is explaining what happened.

As part of the press tour, Duff recently appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast (as seen on YouTube), and host Alex Cooper quizzed her on some long-held rumors. When asked whether she actually showed up at Lindsay Lohan’s movie premiere without her knowledge, Duff smiled and said:

Well, fellow kids of the 2000s, we finally have a definite answer regarding this situation. Not only that, but Duff also summed up her relationship with Lohan, at that time, in a relatively direct way:

Honestly, I love the fact that Duff just went ahead and spilled the tea and did so without sugarcoating it (or being too messy, for that matter). There’s also an interesting wrinkle to this entire situation, though, as the “Come Clean” singer revealed a very interesting tidbit. It turns out she was actually invited to that movie premiere. And fans may or may not gasp when they learn who apparently extended that invitation:

Murray – another teen idol of the 2000s – notably played Jake opposite Lohan’s Anna in 2003’s Freaky Friday (which is streamable with a Disney+ subscription). Of course, Murray also played the role of Austin in Duff’s A Cinderella Story (accessible using a Prime Video subscription), which hit theaters in 2004 and filmed around the time Freaky premiered. Given that timeline and the fact that Duff and Murry became close, it made sense that he would ask her to attend his premiere. Still, this is a feud-fueled situation if there ever was one.

Of course, though, Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan – who are both now married and have kids – have definitely grown up since then. The pair have also had their share of success and haven’t shied away from their Disney roots. Lohan reprised her role as Anna for the long-hoped-for Freaky Friday sequel, Freakier Friday. Meanwhile, Duff filmed two episodes of a Lizzie McGuire revival several years ago before it was scrapped over creative differences. As for where the two starlets stand with each other today, Duff said this:

There are people who love their share of drama and gossip, but I love that this premiere tidbit can now be put to rest. What’s even sweeter is that there now seems to be no sign of a Duff/Lohan feud.

These past few weeks have sadly seen a few beloved actors pass away and, unfortunately, another has now left us. It was confirmed that veteran actor Robert Carradine died at 71 this week, with his family confirming the news on social media. While Carradine had many film and TV credits under his belt, one of his famous roles was that of affable dad Sam McGuire on the classic Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire. In the wake of Carradine’s passing, Hilary Duff and other actors from the coming-of-age series paid tribute to him.

Duff, who played the titular role on Lizzie McGuire, had the opportunity to work with Carradine closely, considering he played her father. After learning of her co-star’s passing, the actress and singer took to Instagram and shared a few sweet throwback photos, one of her and Carradine and another of the pair alongside cast members Hallie Todd and Jake Thomas. Additionally, Duff shared a caption, with which she remembered her “old friend”:

Carradine’s family announced that he died by suicide following a 20-year battle with bipolar disorder. Also mourning the Buy & Cell star was Jake Thomas, who played mischievous younger brother Matt McGuire on the beloved tween sitcom (which is streamable with a Disney+ subscription). On Instagram, Thomas shared a BTS screenshot of him and his late TV dad and memorialized him with some sweet sentiments:

Lalaine, who played Miranda Sanchez on McGuire, also shared a message to her Instagram account, which is set to private and captured by Deadline. The former child star shared a short, but emotional, message in which she discussed the loss of her former co-star:

Robert Carradine played the role Sam McGuire during the entirety of Lizzie McGuire’s run between 2001 and 2004, and he also appeared in 2003’s The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which closed out the series. Additionally, Carradine played the part again alongside his co-stars in the since-scrapped McGuire reboot that was announced by Disney+ in 2019 and filmed two episodes before production ceased. Duff has expressed "disappointment” over that failed project and recently said she wished execs had “listened” to her suggestions.

In the role of the McGuire family patriarch, Carradine brought his lighthearted, comedic sensibilities, making Sam both caring but occasionally absent minded. Warmer moments from the show 2000s series showed Sam providing wisdom and/or showing love to his family. Overall, Sam is a character who deserves to stand alongside fictional dads worthy of praise for their actions.

Of course, Robert Carradine – whose famous family includes the likes of actor Keith Carradine and late actor David Carradine – had a flourishing acting career before landing Lizzie McGuire. He starred in films like Cannonball!, Joyride, The Long Riders and most notably, the Revenge of the Nerds series (quintessential films in which the geeks beat the bullies). Still, for a generation, Carradine will likely remain known as Sam McGuire and, based on the reactions from his fans and co-stars, he will surely be missed.

Lizzie McGuire fans rejoiced in 2018 when Hilary Duff announced that talks of a revival were happening. In 2019, that project was officially confirmed to be in the works at Disney+. However, the planned Lizzie sequel series was ultimately canceled, with creative differences having since been cited as a major reason for that. Duff has spoke about the scrapped series in recent years and is now weighing in on why execs should've considered her input on the production.

As of late, Duff has been diving back into music and has been promoting her new album, Luck... or Something. While speaking to I-D about her new music, she admitted that she might not have been able to devote so much time to producing new tracks had the Lizzie McGuire revival happened. Still, it seems she's still not pleased that the folks at the House of Mouse didn't listen to all of her suggestions:

Creative-based complications arose due to the fact that the series was to show Lizzie's life through an adult lens. Writer Jonathan Hurwitz previously revealed some of the ideas that were tossed around for the show, including Miranda being a queer musician, Lizzie and Ethan hooking up, Lizzie having a gay roommate and more. Duff's new comments about Disney being "scared" align with the continued sentiment that the company wanted a show that didn't feel so adult.

I completely understand why Hilary Duff would be “disappointed” in the planned revival being scrapped, and she makes fair points here. While I obviously can't speak for all fans, I can say that I personally was eager to see Lizzie be "grown up" as Hilary Duff argued. So many people grew up with the character, and it could've been cool for those now-adult fans to get to revisit Lizzie as an adult. All in all, based on what's been said about the show, I also don't think Duff "wanted something crazy," just a nuanced look at adulthood through McGuire's eyes.

Production on the show was in full swing by the time the plug was pulled. Two episodes of McGuire were filmed before OG series creator Terri Minsky departed as showrunner due to creative differences. While Disney evidently wanted a more family-friendly tone, but I also think Duff's suggestion that the series be moved to Hulu could've worked.

It seems unlikely that a Lizzie McGuire revival will happen at this point, but I'm certainly holding out hope. When the A Cinderella Story actress was asked if she’d ever be open to another revival attempt, she had this to say:

A senior citizen Lizzie? I don’t know how I’d feel about that. If the show were about Lizzie’s grandchild going through experiences similar to her grandmother, I might be on board, though.

Overall, I'd say it was probably best that the Lizzie McGuire revival was scrapped if it meant compromising the adult themes that made the revival appealing in the first place. If Disney “listened” to Hilary Duff (who holds no ill will towards the studio) about taking the reboot series to a more mature direction, who knows what could've happened with the show? If anything, though, I'm glad to see Duff thriving regardless and getting to make music as she pleases.

If you grew up from the 1990s on, chances are Disney Channel Original Movies (a.k.a. DCOMs) bring you all the childhood nostalgia. Hilary Duff got her own DCOM in the middle of her Lizzie McGuire fame in the form of Cadet Kelly. While it’s not officially classified as an LGBTQ+ movie, over the years a lot of people have been talking about their thoughts on the movie having a queer subtext, and Duff just addressed it.

2002’s Cadet Kelly follows the titular teenager (Duff) who gets sent off to military school. There she finds herself at odds with Cadet Captain Jennifer Stone (played by Christy Carlson Romano), especially when they start to fight for the attention of their common crush Cadet Major Brad Rigby (Shawn Ashmore). Here’s what Duff said about the TV film while revisiting it with Vanity Fair:

Over the past few years or so, the LGBTQ+ community has been talking on the internet about how they saw Cadet Kelly, and for a lot of young queer kids, they chose to see Kelly and Jennifer’s relationship as a lesbian love story in hiding. Given Disney’s history with queer representation in film, this likely wasn’t the intention of the movie, but enough people chose to read through the lines, that it’s in turn become an iconic movie for the gays.

In Hilary Duff’s interview, the singer and actor said she hadn’t watched the movie in awhile. But after seeing the dynamic between Kelly and Jennifer in one clip shown to her, she suggested that Cadet Kelly get a sequel that confirms its queer subtext.

Duff previously tried to work with Disney on a Lizzie McGuire revival, but her hopes to make the character “equally as real and relatable” in her 30s as her teen years led to some creative differences that resulted in the project dying. The fact that she talks about a sequel in past tense makes it sound like it could have been a good idea, but she's not necessarily expecting for it to happen now.

Back in 2022, Duff first shared her knowledge of Cadet Kelly’s LGBTQ+ significance. In her words to People:

Her How I Met Your Father co-star, who is openly lesbian, apparently told Duff about Cadet Kelly while they were filming the sitcom (which was sadly cancelled in 2022 much to fans’ disdain). With that, we were left to wonder whether the two had officially become a couple. While speaking on Therapuss with Jake Shane, Hilary Duff weighed in on what could've happened for the pair next:

That's not entirely devastating as far as I'm concerned. Don’t get me wrong, I was a big Lizzie and Gordo shipper when I was a kid watching Lizzie McGuire. However, elements from the Disney show hit differently as an adult and, since then, I've also developed a desire to see more platonic friendships that stay platonic. Honestly, at this point, it feels like the trope of two longtime best friends falling for each other has gotten somewhat old.

Plus, I honestly don’t even know if Gordo would would be the right match for Lizzie long term. Sure, he's a nice guy but, in some ways, his somewhat reserved personality really counters Lizzie's more direct demeanor. Like Hilary Duff said, maybe they tried to date in high school and, from there, I could see them realizing they're better off being friends.

So that begs one question: who does Lizzie McGuire end up with? Well, Duff name-dropped another notable character:

Oh, not Ethan Craft! While I can understand Lizzie's crush on Ethan, who was considered the cutest guy in school, he wouldn’t have been right for Lizzie. She once tried to pretend to be Ethan’s type so he could be her date to the Sadie Hawkins dance, but Ethan said he just saw her as a friend.

As kind and well meaning as Ethan was, he wasn't depicted as the brightest character. While Craft could certainly change with age, I just don't see him and Lizzie having a lot in common. Still, I think Ethan would have made a good friend to Lizzie had they had met up as adults, since he always cared about her as a person. Ultimately, I think he’s better off with someone like Kate Sanders.

Of course, Hilary Duff's take on Lizzie's future isn't the gospel truth, and franchise devotees can still write their fan faction. Duff also seems open to reteaming with Disney+ for another revival attempt and, if that happens, I'd love to learn about Lizzie's love life. This is just my personal dream right now, of course, but I not only hope it happens but that the producers would keep Lizzie and Gordo as friends as theorized by Duff.

Titles based on beloved YA stories and nostalgia are having a major moment this summer. New-ish entries like The Summer I Turned Pretty have taken root in pop culture, while classic continuations, like Freakier Friday, are as popular as ever on the 2025 movie schedule. Of course, one key element to all this are swoon-worthy stars. And heartthrob vet, Chad Michael Murray, is continuing to make hearts flutter in Freakier Friday. However, he also did just that again by complimenting his A Cinderella Story co-star, Hilary Duff.

Chad Michael Murray reminisced about his past roles with People as he and other Freaky Friday OGs hyped the freak-quel. Everything from Gilmore Girls to One Tree Hill and A Cinderella Story was covered. When he got to the fairy tale adaptation, he highlighted how wonderful his co-star was and still is. Though he’s already pitched a reboot for A Cinderella Story, it seems that he’d love another chance to work with the How I Met Your Father actress. Murray shared that while they were both young, he got along with everyone attached to Duff. He also attributed it as a reason for her longevity in the business, as he said:

I didn’t know how much I’d enjoy this surprise praise between the A Cinderella Story co-stars. However, considering I was a part of the original target audience for Hilary Duff back then, having assumptions somewhat confirmed by someone who worked very closely with her means a lot. Plus, on top of all that, Murray continues to be a solid example of being a leading actor onscreen and off, making this praise even better.

Personally, I’m hoping his continuing comments about the 2004 flick and Duff could help reignite the redo for the Lizzie McGuire revival with Disney+. For now, that’s a full personal pipe dream, but crazier things have happened! As for the House of Wax actor, and aside from the Disney staple’s present continuation, he’s been killing it on the Netflix hit Sullivan's Crossing.

All of this leaves me wondering if the stars will align for the 2026 movie calendar (or more likely, beyond) to feature a new version of A Cinderella Story? We’ll have to wait and see, but in the meantime, Murray’s sweet words about Duff fill my nostalgic teen heart just fine.

Actors playing multiple roles in entertainment go back to the dawn of drama. Even the ancient Greeks did it. This is certainly true of the film era, where actors have been playing roles all the way back to the beginning. Sometimes it's as simple as playing twins, like Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin in Big Business, and sometimes it's more complex, like the great Peter Sellers playing three very different roles in Dr, Strangelove. In honor of those actors, here are some of our favorite examples of actors playing multiple roles in movies.

Peter Sellers - Dr. Strangelove

No list like this would be complete without the great Peter Sellers in his three fantastic performances in Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Sellers plays the resourceful Captain Mandrake, the bumbling President of the United States, and the completely over-the-top Dr. Strangelove in the movie. Sellers was also supposed to play the character Major Kong, but injured himself on set and the the role went to Slim Pickens instead.

Kate Hudson - Alex & Emma

Films with stories within stories are often a good place to find actors playing multiple roles, as is the case with Kate Hudson in Alex & Emma. In the "real" story, Hudson plays Emma, a stenographer helping Alex (Luke Wilson) complete his novel. As Alex and Emma work on the story, viewers are taken inside the story of a novel where both Wilson and Hudson play characters in the novel. Hudson, in fact, plays four different versions of a nanny in the book.

Michael J. Fox - Back To The Future Part II

While nothing will ever live up to the original Back To The Future, Back To The Future Part II is still pretty fun. One of the things that make it so is Michael J. Fox playing Marty (of course), and his son Marty, Jr., and his daughter Marlene in the movie. Thomas F. Wilson, who plays Biff Tannen, also plays multiple roles in the movie as the various members of the Tannen family.

Jodie Comer - Free Guy

This one is a little bit of a fudge, because in Free Guy, Jodie Comer is playing her character and her character's avatar. So in some ways they are kind of, sort of the same character. Still, she plays the roles different and for that reason, she deserves to be on this list.

Rory Kinnear - Men

Men is an odd movie, but in a good way. Rory Kinnear is what makes it unique. On the surface, Kinnear plays the owner of an inn in a small town, but he also plays most of the rest of the men in the town, all of whom are pretty odd characters.

Lupita Nyong'o - Us

Jordan Peele's horror classic Us features all of the cast members playing both their main character and "Tethered" character with that excellent cast being led by Lupita Nyong'o, who plays Addy and Red. It would be fair to put any of the cast members on this list though, about 20 in total, but we don't want to make this whole list about Us, despite how great it is.

Paul Dano - There Will Be Blood

It'll come as no surprise that a few entries on this list are actors playing identical twins in a movie. We had to include Paul Dano as both Paul and Eli Sunday in There Will Be Blood because Dano's performance, especially as the preacher Eli, is transcendent. The final scene between Eli and Daniel (Daniel Day-Lewis) is one of the most intense scenes ever to appear in a film.

Scarlett Johansson - Astroid City

Director Wes Anderson's Astroid City has a movie within a movie telling the story of the movie. As such, and as you'd probably expect, there are a few actors playing both their "real life" characters and the actors playing them in the movie inside the movie. Scarlett Johansson plays both Midge Campbell and the actor playing Midege, Mercedes. Jason Schwartzman also plays two roles, as do Matt Dillon, Maya Hawke, and others.

George Burns - Oh, God! You Devil

The legendary George Burns played God in not one, but three movies in the Oh God series. In the third installment, he added another character, the Devil. The best scene in the movie comes when God and the Devil play a game of poker for the soul of Bobby Shelton, played by Ted Wass.

Bette Midler And Lily Tomlin - Big Business

Movies about twins separated at birth have been popular in Hollywood forever, but in 1988, director Jim Abrahams upped the ante with two sets of twins separated at birth. Lily Tomlin and Bette Midler are two sets of sisters who discover they were separated from their identical twin. It's a decent movie that hasn't really been remembered by many movie fans.

Eddie Murphy - Coming To America

Of course, we had to include Eddie Murphy on this list! There are multiple movies where the great comedian plays multiple roles, but in the interest of brevity, we're just including the best Eddie Murphy movie, Coming To America. Murphy's main character, Prince Akeem, is the only one that he plays in the movie. Clarence, the barber, is also Murphy, as is Saul, the guy who just hangs out at the barbershop all day. Finally, Murphy also plays the character you may remember from the "What's Going Down" episode of "That's My Mama," Jackson Heights' own Randy Watson!

Christian Bale - The Prestige

The Prestige is a movie that gets a little lost in director Christopher Nolan's fimography, though, like most of his movies, it's excellent. Nolan teamed up with Christian Bale again on the heels of Batman Begins for this movie about rival magicians. Bale plays Alfred Borden and Borden's assistant, Fallon, who are living with a secret that we'll keep in case you haven't seen the movie.

Mel Brooks - History of the World, Part I

Mel Brooks is a one-man force of nature. Not only did he write, direct, and str in most of his movies, but he usually played multiple roles as well. One of the best examples was in History of the World, Part I, where he plays four characters, one in each segment of the film.

Tilda Swinton - Suspiria

There is little that Tilda Swinton can't do, including playing multiple roles in movies. She first did it in 2002's Teknolust, before playing oddball twins in the Coen Brothers' Hail, Caesar! In Suspiria, she plays three roles, Madame Blanc, Dr. Josef Klemperer, and Mother Helena Markos.

Leonardo DiCaprio - The Man In The Iron Mask

The titular character in The Man in the Iron Mask, was, supposedly, a prisoner kept by King Louis XIV during his reign. In the movie, the mysterious prisoner is Louis' twin brother, the fictional Philippe Bourbon. Both the king and the man in the iron mask are played by Leonardo DiCaprio in this historically dubious retelling of a classic Four Musketeer tale.

Janelle Monáe - Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

As the title implies, there are a lot of layers in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. by writer and director Rian Johnson. One of those layers is just who Janelle Monáe's character is, either Andi Brand, the ex-partner of Edward Norton's character, or Helen Brand, her twin sister investigating Andi's unexpected death.

Arsenio Hall - Coming To America

Like his co-star Eddie Murphy, Arsenio also plays multiple roles in Coming To America. His main role, Semmi, is Murphy's trusted servant. Hall also plays one of the women the two meet at a club and one of the barbers, but the funniest character he plays has to be the preacher. Every line he delivers is hilarious.

Armie Hammer - The Social Network

Of all the double (and more) roles on this list, maybe the easiest to do double duty for is that of the Winklevoss twins in The Social Network. Don't get us wrong, Armie Hammer nails the role(s) as the swarmy twins who actually came up with the idea that would become Facebook. They may have had a case against Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg), but that didn't make them good people.

Graham Chapman - Monty Python And The Holy Grail

This is really an entry for all of the members of Monty Python, as all of them play at least four different roles in the movie. Graham Chapman plays King Arthur, so naturally, he gets top billing, but John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam, and Eric Idle deserve the spotlight here. Actors Neil Innes, Sandy Johnson, and John Young also play multiple roles in the movie.

Halle Berry, Tom Hanks, Ben Whishaw, And More - Cloud Atlas

Cloud Atlas tells a story that spans centuries and in each timeline, the same core group of actors play different roles. This includes Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Ben Whishaw, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, and many more. It's a wild movie to follow, but all the actors are on point, for sure

Mills and Lohan are both great at playing the dual roles of the twins who discover their parents separated them when they were babies and they never knew.

Mike Myers - Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

As the Austin Powers franchise chugged on, Mike Myers kept adding roles, but in the original, he started brilliantly as both the hero, Austin Powers, and the villain, Dr. Evil. It's hard to decide which character is funnier, but it's safe to say that without Myers playing the roles, neither would be as iconic and we wouldn't have as many classic lines from Myers.

Peter Sellers - The Mouse That Roared

While Dr. Strangelove is the most famous and revered example of Peter Sellers playing multiple roles in a movie, it wasn't the first time he did. A few years before the Stanley Kubrick classic, Sellers started in the wildly underrated war movie farce The Mouse That Roared. Sellers carries the movie in three different, ridiculous, and hilarious roles and it really should be better remembered today.

Margaret Hamilton - The Wizard Of Oz

Margaret Hamilton plays two different villains in The Wizard Of Oz. Of course, she plays the iconic Wicked Witch Of The West and Dorothy's obnoxious neighbor Almira Gulch, who takes Toto after claiming to be bitten by the innocent dog. Hamilton isn't the only actor in the movie to play dual roles, but both of her characters are the most developed of them.

Eddie Murphy - The Nutty Professor

Coming To America may be the best example of Eddie Murphy playing multiple roles, but The Nutty Professors and its sequel, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps definitely has him playing the most characters. Across both movies, he plays eight different characters. While both movies have their moments, neither quite reach the comedic heights of Coming To America.

Mia Goth - X

In The X series, Mia Goth plays both Maxine Minx and Pearl Douglas. the former is in Goth's wheelhouse, but the latter, an elderly woman who is the villain of both of the first two movies, X and Pearl. Goth is unrecognizable and brilliant in both.

Richard Pryor - Which Way Is Up?

Years before his Harlem Nights co-star Eddie Murphy started starring in multiple roles in movies, Richard Pryor pulled off the feat in Which Way Is Up? in 1977. While it's an uneven movie, it does have some funny moments, especially Pryor in one of his roles, the Reverend Lenox Thomas.

Cate Blanchett - Coffee & Cigarettes

Director Jim Jarmusch's Coffee & Cigarettes is a collection of short stories, 11 in total, that pay tribute to, you guessed it, those two popular vices. In one of them, Cate Blanchett plays a fictionalized version of herself and her fictional cousin, Shelly, who meet for a coffee and a smoke. The story is really just an uncomfortable conversation between Cate and the jealous Shelly, but it's one of the best stories in the movie.

Tom Hardy - Legend

Tom Hardy is never afraid to take on a tricky role and in Legend he takes on two, playing the psychotic Cray twins, Reggie and Ronnie. Based on the true story of the mobsters who gained fame in the mid-'60s as the owners of a popular nightclub frequented by celebrities in the "Swinging London" era.

Hilary Duff - The Lizzie McGuire Movie

Okay, we'll admit the plot of The Lizzie McGuire Movie is pretty silly. In it, Lizzie, played by Hilary Duff, of course, travels to Rome on a school trip and ends up in a weird love triangle of sorts with her Italian doppelganger, Isabella. Is it a great movie? Nah, not really, but it does fit on this list.

Adam Sandler - Jack And Jill

If you're an Adam Sandler fan, then you'll love Jack And Jill because you get twice as much Sandler as usual, as he plays the brother and sister, Jack and Jill. Honestly, unless you're a big Sandler fan, this is a movie you can skip, though it does seem to have fans for some reason.

Spooky season may officially be over, we’re still not over all the Halloween costumes celebrities wore this year. And I certainly didn’t have multiple major names throwing it back to 2003’s The Lizzie McGuire Movie on my Halloween bingo card, but here we are! Kendall and Kylie Jenner delivered such a good recreation of the “What Dreams Are Made Of” scene that Hilary Duff took notice, but I need to give Sabrina Carpenter her flowers too for her creative spin on the Disney Channel classic.

Both Jenner sisters had multiple Halloween costumes this year, and they were amazing. Kylie recreated two of Demi Moore’s Striptease looks and Moore approved. Kendall on the other hand had a Paris Hilton costume with best friend Hailey Bieber, who embodied Nicole Richie from their Simple Life days. On Halloween, the duo opted for a sister costume straight from The Lizzie McGuire Movie on Instagram. Check out how Hilary Duff reacted:

Duff is totally right, the Jenner sisters really “nailed” the fits from the end of the movie! Kendall Jenner portrayed Lizzie McGuire after debuting blonde hair at the Academy gala last week. Kylie wore the green outfit of Isabella Parigi, who is a famous Italian pop star in the movie that Lizzie finds out she closely resembles when she goes on a trip to Rome with her class. The result was one of the most uplifting Disney songs, and fans who grew up watching the Disney Channel movie will never forget when Isabella says “sing to me Paolo!” during this scene.

But, Can I Get A Little Commotion For Sabrina Carpenter's The Lizzie McGuire Movie Halloween Costume

The Jenner sisters killed it with their The Lizzie McGuire Movie costumes, but I am even more impressed by Sabrina Carpenter for also pulling an unlikely (but iconic) look from the same movie. Check it out:

Only fans who watched the DVD on repeat know this Lizzie McGuire moment! In the same 2003 movie, Lizzie McGuire tries on a bunch of ridiculous outfits while being shown around Rome by Paolo, including a blow-up igloo dress. Sabrina Carpenter had the dress recreated for Halloween, and even had a friend dress up as Alex Borstein’s Ms. Angela Ungermeyer, who is the class’ chaperone.

Sabrina Carpenter perfectly captioned the post as “me November 1st”, to ring in the end of Halloween season. Fans were just as obsessed as me, with one person saying “this is kinda the best thing you’ve done” while another said “too iconic tbh.” That about sums it up.

Between this, her heart-shaped toilet, and Carpenter showing up at the Eras Tour stage last week, the singer really knows what dreams are made of. And she has a Christmas special on the way for those with a Netflix subscription on December 6.

You might not recognize his name, but there is no way you don’t recognize his face. David Krumholtz has been around Hollywood for some time, playing Bernard in one of the best Christmas movies of all time, The Santa Clause, its first sequel, and more recently, the follow-up series The Santa Clauses. While most of us will undoubtedly have a family-friendly idea of the actor in our heads, considering the holiday flicks are great for the whole family, the Oppenheimer actor recently took to social media to share a hilarious story about being high at Disney World and getting himself into hot water with Disney. Plud one of their biggest stars at the time, Hilary Duff. 

Krumholtz shared his inebriated Disney World odyssey in a thread on X (previously known as Twitter), similar to his worst audition story. The actor shared what he considered a “quarter-life crisis” following the filming of Santa Clause 2, but it was when the movie was released he got himself into trouble. He wrote:

Krumholtz's adventure veered into the bizarre the evening before the parade. Upon seeing a Bernard mannequin and buying a Disney Christmas Pluto sweater on a whim, he was surprised the next day with his elf costume missing its wig and shoes, meant for a dance performance on a float with Hilary Duff. This led to a panicked call to his publicist and his adamant refusal to wear the costume, resulting in him wearing the Pluto sweater while riding alone in a horse-drawn carriage.

The ensuing parade, sans Bernard, led to a confused crowd and a visibly irked Hilary Duff. The situation peaked during a collective singing of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas," where the actor, placed next to Bear from Bear in the Big Blue House, faced a terse exchange with the parade's director over his costume refusal. The story continues: 

Ouch. How surreal would it be to see Bear whisper that to a dejected Bernard? Krumholtz candidly recounts the unpredictable nature of celebrity and reminds us how Hollywood can sometimes be stranger than fiction. One can only hope Duff will see his thread and allow him to make that “amends.”

Amid news that Disney is reviving Wizards of Waverly Place with Selena Gomez and David Henrie attached, it’s hard to not think about what could have been with Lizzie McGuire. The new Wizards spinoff, if ordered to series, would become the second reboot on Disney Channel following Raven’s Home. Although set to air on Disney+ in 2020, the Lizzie series would have brought back one of millennial’s favorite shows and characters, and the story behind the creation and cancellation of Hilary Duff's planned show is still puzzling.

When Was The Lizzie McGuire Revival Announced And What Was It Going To Be About?

The Lizzie McGuire revival was first announced at the D23 Expo in 2019, with Hilary Duff making a surprise appearance to reveal the big news. Along with Duff, who would, of course, be reprising her role as the titular and beloved character, Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine and Jake Thomas were set to reprise their roles as Lizzie’s parents, Jo and Sam, and brother Matt, respectively. Also part of the cast was Adam Lamberg as Lizzie’s best friend, David “Gordo” Gordon. 

The new series would have followed Lizzie in her 30s, navigating life in New York City. Original series creator Terri Minsky was on board as showrunner and executive producer, which definitely set peoples’ minds at ease since she would have also wanted to make sure that fans received a satisfying show that honored what had come before. Production photos were posted (and leaked) from set, making devotees of the early 2000s Disney series as excited as ever. Unfortunately, they wouldn't receive much more than that.

Why Was The Show Canceled By Disney+ And How Far Into Production Was It?

After a first look at the Lizzie McGuire offshoot was released in October 2019, the production hit setbacks. By that following January, Variety reported that Minsky was stepping away from the revival, leaving fans worried about the McGuire revival. However, Disney was said to be actively searching for a new showrunner. By the time she exited, two episodes had already been filmed, but production was put on pause while the search continued. A Disney spokesperson shared that they needed to “move in a different creative direction.” 

Hilary Duff revealed a month later that she wanted to move the show from Disney+ to Hulu, noting that she wanted to make Lizzie’s journey as a 30-year-old as “equally as real and relatable.” That way, it would fall in line with the manner in which she portrayed Lizzie as a preteen/teen. Ultimately, the show ended up staying in limbo for a while until the House of Mouse ultimately decided to cancel it outright due to creative differences, as the powers that be wanted it to be more family-friendly.

What’s Been Said By Hilary Duff And The Creative Team Since The Show Was Axed?

Since the cancellation, Hilary Duff has been open about her disappointment, saying that the shoot was “a really special two weeks of my life.” She even previously revealed that she’s thought about leaking the first two episodes but that there will be a time and place for it, whether it eventually sees the light of day or not. Duff also spoke to whether she'd reteam with Disney+ for a revival and seemed optimistic but  uncertain about the prospect.

More recently, writer Jonathan Hurwitz has gone viral as of late for revealing some key details about the revival. In a TikTok, he discussed what the first three episodes would've consisted of. He even shared that the writing team was “absolutely” planning a storyline revolving around Lalaine’s Miranda Sanchez, who was absent from The Lizzie McGuire Movie and multiple episodes of the second season. 

They planned for Miranda to be a queer musician, and fans “likely would have met the woman she was in a relationship with.” While Jonathan Hurwitz was unsure if casting ever reached out to Lalaine, he did cross paths with her manager, who said she was “open” to a return.

Other details shared by Jontahan Hurwitz included Lizzie being an interior designer who goes by Elizabeth, Lizzie and high school crush Ethan Craft hooking up, the lead character having a gay roommate, and much, much more. It’s clear that the show was definitely much more adult-oriented, which apparently wasn't to Disney's liking.

It's disappointing that Lizzie McGuire couldn’t move to a streamer like Disney-owned Hulu. But, as Duff previously said, the show isn’t alive, nor is it dead. So, hopefully, Lizzie and her animated counterpart will return at some point in the future. For now, fans will just have to watch the original show with using Disney+ subscription and keep their fingers crossed that the sequel show will see the light of day.

Like us common folk, celebrities love a good meme. This time a bunch of them, from Candace Cameron Bure to Brooklyn Decker, got in on the fun, as they responded to a viral meme question about naming their vaginas after the last TV show they watched. Obviously, just about any answer to this would be hilarious, because it’ll either make no sense or be way too perfect, and these celebs did not disappoint with their answers.

For some context, this started when Allison Janney commented on an Instagram post from crazybitchprobs that posed the question:

As you can see, the possibilities are endless when it comes to finding a great name for a vagina that’s inspired by a television show. Now, I’d love to see how the casts of all these beloved series feel about all this, and, of course, I want to know their answers to this hilarious question too. 

Everything is bigger in Texas, they say, and that certainly includes the star power of its homegrown celebrities. From the biggest stars in music to the biggest on the silver screen, the biggest celebs in the squared circle, and almost everywhere else, Texas has bred them all. 

California may be home to Hollywood, but there might not be a Hollywood without its biggest legends who hail from the Lone Star State, so here is our list of some of the biggest stars from Texas

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey was born in Uvalde, Texas, raised mostly in Longview, TX, went to college in Austin, and got his first big break in show business in Dazed & Confused, which was, of course, filmed in Texas. McConaughey still lives in Austin. It makes sense that the proud Texan wants to see more movies made in his home state. McConaughey has also sparked rumors in the past that he might be interested in running for political office in Texas, though he's usually brushed them aside. Politician or not, the man sure loves his home state. 

Renée Zellweger

She may have won accolades for playing an English woman, but Renée Zellweger is Texas through and through. The Bridget Jones' Diary star was born outside Houston in Katy, TX, and grew up there before attending the University of Texas. It was in Austin that she discovered her love for acting and she landed her first on-screen role as an extra in Dazed & Confused. 

Owen Wilson

Dallas-born Owen Wilson has played a lot of fantastic roles over the years, but none better than his many roles in the films of Wes Anderson. Wilson and fellow Texan Anderson have been friends since their college days at the University of Texas. It's also worth noting that both of Owen Wilson's brothers, Luke and Andrew, also hail from Texas, of course. 

Jim Parsons

While some people ooze "Texas," Houston native Jim Parsons doesn't, really. You might guess he'd be from New York or Chicago, but nope, he's a Texan. Born and raised in the suburbs of Houston, he also attended the University of Houston before striking out for Hollywood and making it big. 

Carol Burnett

Comedy legend Carol Burnett grew up in California, attending high school right in Hollywood, but the Annie star was born deep in the heart of Texas, in San Antonio in 1933. Though her vast career has taken her far from Texas, the state can still call her one of its own. 

Beyoncé

If the stars are brighter and everything is bigger in Texas, then it only makes sense that one of the biggest stars would come from Houston. There is no bigger star on the planet than Beyoncé, who was born and raised in Texas along with her sister Solange and her Destiny's Child bandmate, LaTavia Roberson. 

Selena Gomez

Like many other native Texas, Selena Gomez is proud of her Mexican heritage. The Only Murders In The Building star was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, near Dallas, and although her many acting roles and career took her to California early in life, her family's roots are firmly in the Lone Star State. Gomez is named for another Texas native as well, the late Tejano superstar Selena, who was murdered in Corpus Christi in 1995. 

Woody Harrelson

Woody Harrelson first got famous playing a farm boy-turned-bartender from Indiana on Cheers, and while he moved to Ohio as a teenager, Harrelson was born in Midland, Texas. He's also tight with his occasional co-star and fellow Texan, Matthew McConaughey, and, according to McConaughey, the two could even be brothers! 

Tommy Lee Jones

Sure, he was roommates at Harvard with Al Gore, but Tommy Lee Jones is all Texan. The No Country For Old Men star was born in the small town of San Saba, Texas, and raised in Midland. He's never really strayed far either, as he has resided in Terrell Hills, TX, near San Antonio, for years. He's also a member of the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, and the Texas Film Hall of Fame. There really isn't another actor who screams "Texas" like Jones, is there?

Steve Martin

Waco-born Steve Martin is one of the funniest people in film history. While he grew up mostly in Southern California, his roots are originally in central Texas, where he was born in Waco, on August 14th, 1945, the same day that the Japanese surrendered in World War II. 

Jamie Foxx

The multi-talented Jamie Foxx started acquiring his many skills as a kid in Terrell, TX, outside Dallas, where he was born and raised. As a kid, he played piano and excelled at sports at Terrell High School. He moved to Southern California after school and in 1991, scored a role on In Living Color, and the rest is history. 

Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner moved to West Virginia when she was just three, so she probably doesn't remember much of anything from her early life in Texas, but the Daredevil star was born in Houston. 

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson exploded into show business by winning the first-ever season of American Idol and she's been a star ever since. It's a journey that started when she was born in Forth Worth, TX, and raised in the suburb of Burleson, just outside the city. While her career may have taken her to LA and New York, her heart (and sports allegiance) has stayed in Texas.

Wes Anderson

People love to debate what the best Wes Anderson movie is, but if you are wondering what is his most personal, it's probably Bottle Rocket, which was filmed almost entirely in Anderson's home state of Texas. It stars a couple of fellow Texans as well, Owen and Luke Wilson. While the Wilsons are from Dallas originally, Anderson hails from Houston. 

Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion is a triple threat. She proved herself on the mic, and on the dance floor, first, then she started taking over TV and movies by starring in her first film in 2023. Before all that happened, though, she grew up in and around Houston. The “H-town Hottie” even got her nickname, Stallion, in the city. 

Michelle Rodriguez

Michelle Rodriguez has been in some huge film franchises, like Fast & Furious and Avatar. She kind of grew up all over, including in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, but she was born and lived for a few years of her life in San Antonio, TX. 

Ethan Hawke

Ethan Hawke's parents were high school sweethearts who had Ethan shortly after they were married. Born in 1970 in Austin, TX, Hawke moved to the Northeast with his mother but spent his summers in Fort Worth with his dad. His grandfather even served in the Texas House of Representatives for 10 years. He has deep Texas roots that he is proud of. 

Hilary Duff

Lizzie McGuire star Hilary Duff is another Texas girl. Born in Houston, her family also spent time in San Antonio before moving to California when Duff was still young to pursue her acting career. Boy did that pay off quickly! 

Jennifer Love Hewitt

From a young age, Jennifer Love Hewitt was showing off her talents, singing and dancing across Texas, where she was born in 1979. Eventually, even the Lone Star State could not contain her and she moved to LA with her family, where she soon landed her first starring role on the legendary Party Of Five, after having roles on the Disney Channel and elsewhere as a kid. 

Eva Longoria

Born in Corpus Christi, TX in 1975, Eva Longoria has always been proud of her Tejano roots. In fact, her ancestry and culture are so important to her that she returned to college to earn a Master's degree in Chicano studies from Cal State-Northridge.

Forest Whitaker

Though he went to high school in Los Angeles, Forest Whitaker's life began in Longview, Texas. Every summer of his youth, he spent time with his grandparents in Longview and still has family all over Texas. 

Taylor Sheridan

It's no surprise that Taylor Sheridan is from Texas. While he was actually born in North Carolina, the Yellowstone creator is the definition of a true Texan. Not only did he grow up in Fort Worth, but he owns a working ranch in the Lone Star state called 6666 Ranch. He and his family live in Weatherford, Texas.

Farrah Fawcett

She might have had the reputation of being the all-American blonde from California, but Farrah Fawcett was born and raised in Texas. After high school in Corpus Christi, she attended the University of Texas before heading to Hollywood where she immediately started landing acting and modeling jobs. Once she scored her role on Charlie's Angels, the rest is history. 

Isaiah Washington

Controversial actor Isaiah Washington's most prominent role was in the first three seasons of Grey's Anatomy. Since then, he's worked on numerous films and TV shows, before announcing his retirement in 2023. He was born and raised in Houston. 

William Jackson Harper

Star of The Good Place William Jackson Harper is a native Texan, born in Dallas and raised in Garland, TX, where he first started acting in high school. His Texas-sized determination kept him going when he struggled early in his career, before finding a starring role on the Kristen Bell-led sitcom. 

Dakota Johnson

It might be surprising to learn that despite being the daughter of Hollywood royalty, Dakota Johnson was born in Texas. She was born to Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson in Austin while her father shot a movie in the Lone Star State. The star was then raised in Los Angeles, of course, but Austin will always be where she came into this world. Since then, she's built a great career. 

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin

Steven James Anderson loves his home state so much, that he took a name based on its capital, Austin. Better known as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, the WWE superstar was, in fact, born in Austin, though he was raised mostly in Edna, TX. The wrestler still owns property in the state, Broken Skull Ranch, near Tilden, TX. It's not like he hides his love for the state either, as one of his many nicknames is "The Texas Rattlesnake."

Gary Busey

People sometimes forget that Gary Busey was once nominated for an Oscar for playing Texan Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story, and the actor also hails from Holly's home state. Busey was born in the Houston area; Baytown, Texas, to be exact. He moved to Oklahoma in elementary school and it was in Tulsa that the enigmatic actor began his show biz career. One of his first big breaks in Hollywood was a TV show that was set in Texas called, appropriately, The Texas Wheelers.

Gina Carano

Gina Carano was controversially dismissed from The Mandalorian and whether you agree with the decision or not, it's hard to argue that the MMA star brought a little bit of that strong individualism Texas is known for to the role and her career. Something that might be inherent in her, as she was born in Dallas County Texas.

Shaquille O'Neal

Texas is a huge state, with a lot of personality, so it only makes sense that a celebrity who's physically large and has a personality to match would hail from the state. Shaquille O’Neal is an Army brat, so he moved around a lot as a kid, including being born in New Jersey. It's in Texas, however, where the world started to pay attention to O'Neal as he became a standout basketball star, eventually becoming a top college recruit and going to LSU for school. He was drafted into the NBA as the #1 overall pick in 1992, and the rest is history.  

Robin Wright

Robin Wright might be best known for playing a Washington insider on House Of Cards and a Buttercup in The Princess Bride, but before all that, she was born in Dallas in 1966. Her parents divorced when she was young and her family moved to Southern California, but for those two years, she was a Texan. 

Michael Strahan

He first made a name for himself playing football in New York, and now he's known for hosting Good Morning America in New York, but Michael Strahan is a born and bred Texan. He was born in Houston, and went to high school there, though for a little while he lived with his family in Germany where his father was stationed in the Army. 

There you have it, a list that proves everything is, indeed, bigger in Texas. The toast, the steer, the plains, and the stars. Not just the stars in the sky, but the stars in Hollywood and beyond. Few states can compete with the Lone Star state when it comes to star power. 

Hilary Duff, like so many of us, is enjoying the holiday season and soaking in all the fun that comes with it. While it looks like she’ll be celebrating with her family, it turns out she and her brood have another big occasion to commemorate. The Lizzie McGuire icon revealed that she’s pregnant with her fourth child! That’s big news to say the least, and she and her clan seem more than excited about their new arrival. They’re not the only ones who are pumped either. After the veteran actress confirmed the news, Elle Fanning, Lucy Hale and more joined in on the celebrations. 

The 36-year-old star took to Instagram to share the news that she’s expecting again. In her post, she included a family photo as well as a screenshot of a card that featured an official announcement. As for her caption, the former child actor simply added, “surprise surprise!” You can take a look at the cute post for yourself down below: 

It was in 2012 that Hilary Duff gave birth to her first child, a boy named Luca (11), who she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie. Duff and her current husband, Matthew Koma, have two daughters – Banks (4) and Mae (2). The confirmation of this latest baby is truly sweet and so on brand for the star, who frequently shares sweet, family-oriented content. What’s also great to see are the reactions from fellow celebrities. Elle Fanning took the comments to drop the following response: 

Lucy Hale, a fellow social media maven, dropped some thoughts of her own. Like Elle Fanning she shared a heart emoji along with a message:

A response that really warmed this ‘00s kid’s heart, however, was the one that came from Alyson Stoner, Hilary Duff’s co-star from Cheaper by the Dozen (which can be streamed with a Disney+ subscription). The cheeky star shared a quip that was so well-timed that even Duff had to concede that it was “well played”: 

I’m not sure the Raise Your Voice star and her hubby are going to be so ambitious. For now, one just gets the impression that they’re over the moon about welcoming their third child together. In some ways, it’s still hard to believe that the former teen idol and star of How I Met Your Father (which was canceled months ago) is already a mother of three. I know it sounds weird but, having watched her teenage self on TV years ago, it still takes some getting used to. Despite that though, like her famous friends, I'm incredibly happy Hilary Duff and her family and wish them all the best moving forward! 

Those who want to see the actress’ latest show, How I Met Your Father, can still stream both seasons using a Hulu subscription. Also, keep your eyes on the 2024 TV schedule, in case she winds up with a production on that slate.

Sure there were plenty of viral snubs, notable Academy Awards wins, and more big moments at the 2023 Oscars earlier this year. However, while actresses like Halle Bailey went viral for their sheer dresses and other styles on the red carpet, one actress who was very much overlooked the night of the event in my opinion was Hilary Duff. She sought to rectify that a bit by showing off her Oscars afterparty dress on Instagram, and it is stunning. 

While not as brazen as Florence Pugh’s viral sheer dress, Hilary Duff was certainly on trend with her semi-sheer look. Not only did she embrace the see-through (ish) trend in a tasteful way, but she also embraced the wet hair trend that’s been having a moment for a few months now. She shared photos of herself and partner Matthew Koma on her social media, captioning the post in a manner a lot of other parents can probably relate to, “Two late nights out and we’ve hit our yearly quota.” 

Koma’s corresponding velvet-y red look is also a total moment, though it’s the fan comments that really have caught my eye. In fact, Canadian actress Sarah Desjardins – you may know her from Yellowjackets or Riverdale – had the perfect comment about the look. She wrote on Duff’s post:  “Cinderella Story: Vanity Fair ✨.”  Other fans chimed in with similar sentiments, with one writing, “It reminds me of A Cinderella's Story dress! Was that intentional? Great to see you out .” A third fan commented, “Omg It’s giving A Cinderella Story.” 

I mean, not wrong. If you can recall the 2004 teen film starring the actress opposite then teen heartthrob Chad Michael Murray, you probably recall her character’s big Cinderella moment came in a dress with major details on the bodice and that featured light pink-ish overtones. That dress was designed by Monique Lhuillier and is still a coveted, memorable look – the type of look that holds up nearly 20 years later. 

It's unclear if the dress was meant to emulate the past look, but Duff has spoken fondly about filming A Cinderella Story in the past, so I wouldn't put it past her to nod back. 

Of course the dress Hilary Duff wore to the after party on her big night out with husband Matthew Koma was not Monique Lhuillier, and it had some see-through details that marked it as distinctly 2023. This time around the peachy pink dress she wore was from Dolce & Gabbana, though in a lot of ways it does harken back to that fairytale dress she rocked on the big screen.

The wet hair look is easy to pull off this fashion season, and while that lingerie-inspired dress might be hard to come by, there are plenty of dupes out there. For Love and Lemons is featuring a similar lingerie-style gown for $348, which is still pricey, but which I might actually like more than the D&G version the actress rocked. Fame & Partners has a classic tiered gown that’s similarly structured and perfect for a wedding event. And I particularly love this corset-style Lulu’s dress, which coincidentally will not break the bank in the same way D&G would. It’s simple, it’s timeless, and it’s at a more reasonable price point.

Early aughts fashion is currently making a comeback, so if an actress is planning on busting out a look similar to one from 20 years ago, now is a great time. Even Gwyneth Paltrow has said she's saved some early 2000s looks for her daughter Apple. If the above is any indication, now might be a great time to bust those out. 

Spoilers below for anyone who hasn’t yet watched the latest episode of How I Met Your Father, so be warned!

Hulu’s How I Met Your Father hasn’t even reached the midway point of its second season, and has already added a surprising number of big names to its list of How I Met Your Mother character cameos, on top of other famous faces like Judge Judy and Meghan Trainor. But I don’t think even the combined arrivals of Jason Segel, Josh Radnor and Allyson Williams could have set audiences up for the universe-shattering flashback sequence that played out in Episode 207, which featured none other than Hilary Duff’s original claim-to-fame character Lizzie McGuire. What? Is? Happening?

No, it wasn’t a signal-crossing disruption due to Disney servers gaining sentience (which is possibly its own future Hulu project), but rather an intentional slice of crossover wackiness from showrunners Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker. The episode, titled “A Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Valentine’s Day,” featured the core character group sharing awkward memories of lovey-dovey holidays past. After Sophie’s initial prepubescent anecdote was declined, she flashed back to when she was 13, and viewers were gifted with footage from the Season 2 premiere of Lizzie McGuire, featuring the teenybopping Duff alongside former co-star Lalaine’s Miranda Sanchez. Without a current-day appearance from Miranda, or Lalaine as another character, viewers were left with the admittedly ridiculous question of “Are Sophie and Lizzie the same person?”

Just as ridiculous? Co-showrunner and EP Elizabeth Berger bemusedly staying away from flat-out denying or confirming that to be the canonical case for How I Met Your Father’s central hopeless romantic. Here’s how she put it with Variety:

Gotta love it. Obviously many explanations and fact-morphing would be needed to fully confirm that two of Hilary Duff’s most notable TV characters are, in fact, the same person. Perhaps the biggest one would be whether it was puberty itself that changed her from appearing to be a completely different person and into a more genuine reflection of her current looks.

The second would be why Elizabeth Berger called her Lizzie and not Sophie, and what that would mean for How I Met Your Father’s entire flashback storyline being told by Kim Cattrall’s Future Sophie…or is it Future Lizzie? Where’s Gordo when you need him?

Considering Hilary Duff was previously partnered up with Disney+ for a Lizzie McGuire revival that was shelved after multiple episodes were filmed, the timing of her HIMYF inclusion is intriguing to say the least. But the actress doesn’t seem to have had any reservations about bringing the throwback moment into her current comedy, saying:

It doesn’t seem like Hilary Duff would be free to take on any long-term Lizzie revivals in the near future, what with How I Met Your Father impressing its streaming home enough to earn a doubled-up second season, with the future looking bright as well. The creative team took a big swing by bringing Neil Patrick Harris’ Barney into the Season 2 premiere, with Alexis Denisof’s Sandy Rivers also making a fun return in Ep 205, so perhaps the showrunners are aiming to squeeze in as many creative surprises while they can, just in case such positive headwinds take a turn. 

Another fun surprise was Hilary Duff herself getting a big career callback, with former Raise Your Voice co-star John Corbett being cast as one of her love interests in Season 2. Hulu’s How I Met Your Father is currently airing its second season, and already there was a major HIMYM cameo. Neil Patrick Harris reprised his role as Barney Stinson in the Season 2 premiere of the Hilary Duff-led series, adding to the list of HIMYM cameos on HIMYF. The big question now is, will we ever see the return of Josh Radnor as Ted Mosby? Duff opened up about the possibility and recalled the exchanges she has had with the actor.

Josh Radnor has spoken about a possible return as Ted on How I Met Your Father, he even revealed that he and Hilary Duff had some nice exchanges via email. Now the actress is proving that those sentiments are true, as she told E! News that the two of them have kept in touch over email, and he’s also somewhat passed the torch to her:

It’s definitely sweet that Radnor and Duff have exchanges with each other, as I’m sure doing a reboot of a beloved series can be a bit overwhelming. It does make me wonder how much, if at all, they’ve discussed Radnor visiting the set and portraying Ted again. Since it sounds like the two have been getting close, the door is always open.

Meanwhile, as Hilary Duff’s friendship with Josh Radnor continues, it wouldn’t be surprising if even more HIMYM alums visit. Like many, the singer is a fan of the original series, which ran on CBS for nine seasons. She praised the cast and their characters, sharing her hopes of having everyone come on the Hulu series at some point:

Since Season 2 of How I Met Your Father is in the beginning of its run, and the season has twice as many episodes as it did for Season 1, there is plenty of time to round up some more original stars. Luckily it’s been looking like a lot of the original HIMYM cast have shown interest in reprising their fan-favorite roles; it’s just a matter of when and how. Fingers crossed that it continues to happen, and maybe we'll even see Ted give Sophie advice on her love life because he definitely understands what she’s going through. 

Meanwhile, HIMYM cameos are not the only guest stars that fans will be looking forward to this season on one of Hulu's hit series. Meghan Trainor appeared in the second episode as a woman about to give birth whom Sophie is photographing. This also coincidentally aired around the same time Trainor announced her IRL pregnancy. There will also be a Raise Your Voice reunion when John Corbett, who portrayed Hilary Duff’s mentor in the early 2000s teen drama, makes an appearance on HIMYF as the actress’ love interest.

After being in the industry for over two decades, Hilary Duff is still making waves. The actress is currently starring in Hulu’s hit comedy How I Met Your Father, which just enjoyed its Season 2 premiere, but her breakout role as Lizzie McGuire will forever continue to stay in fans' hearts and minds. Despite Disney+'s failed attempt at a Lizzie revival, Duff has opened up about whether she’d want to try going down that road again in the future.

While appearing on Watch What Happens Live, Hilary Duff was asked about approaching a newly revised Lizzie reboot if given another chance at it. Although she had to dance delicately around the topic, likely due to HIMYF being on Disney-owned Hulu, she remained optimistic about the potential of bringing her animated alter ego back to the small screen. Here's how she put it, with much hemming and hawing and stammering.

It was definitely frustrating for fans like me when Disney+ scrapped the Lizzie McGuire revival, and Hilary Duff shared her own disappointment about the cancellation not long after it happened. However, it’s excellent to hear that she hasn't entirely abandoned all hopes and intentions of giving fans an update on where the character's at these days, even if any new series likely won't have the same kind of post-YA tones that Disney was reportedly skittish about previously.

In the midst of Lizzie’s then-unknown fate on Disney+, Duff wanted the revival on Hulu instead of the more youth-geared Disney streamer, so that she and the creative team could give fans Lizzie in her 30s and tackling issues that people have in their 30s. Now Disney+ has started to show more mature shows and movies on the streamer, with the Netflix Marvel shows being key examples, it’s possible they may take another look at a matured revival of the beloved Disney series. 

With Hilary Duff starring in How I Met Your Father, it would probably be a while until a Lizzie McGuire revival could come together, if one ever does. HIMYF is arguably one of the best shows on Hulu, where it's also seemingly proving itself to be quite popular, and not just because HIMYM stars keep popping up. That’s not to say that Duff can’t be front and center on two successful shows at the same time, but it would come down to scheduling details, and it doesn’t seem like anything’s on the docket.

It should be pointed out that even though the Lizzie McGuire revival was shelved, the first two episodes were still filmed prior to things going downhill. Duff even revealed she’d considered leaking the filmed episodes, but I would honestly rather have zero new episodes than two from a non-canonical follow-up. Though I'd definitely take them if Disney execs change their minds and opt to bounce back to the idea that sparked the revival in the first place.

Jennifer Coolidge is having a huge Hollywood moment right now on the heels of her success from starring in The White Lotus, recently taking home a Golden Globe and starring alongside Jennifer Lopez in the new comedy Shotgun Wedding. However, the real ones remember her hilarious role as the stepmother to Hilary Duff’s Sam in 2004’s A Cinderella Story. Obviously, Duff remembers it too and shared her most memorable moment working with the actress as a teen. 

Hilary Duff was asked by a fan about her experience working alongside Jennifer Coolidge in her Disney pop star days. Here’s what she recalled: 

Duff shared her memories from the set of A Cinderella Story during an appearance on Watch Happens Live With Andy Cohen. While she was a guest on the show, she also said that Jennifer Coolidge has “always” been a lovely human being, and she’s “really proud” of her former co-star as she’s been recognized for her beloved role in The White Lotus in awards season, and she's picked up more roles than ever. Duff also spoke about how Coolidge’s comeback story has reminded her that “anything can happen at any stage” in Hollywood.

A Cinderella Story was a memorable movie for early ‘00s kids, especially those who were following Hilary Duff’s career during her Lizzie McGuire fame. Duff was just 16 when the modern spin on a classic fairytale, also starring Chad Michael Murray and Regina King, came out. Duff and Coolidge were also in the same movie again in the 2010’s rom-com Beauty & the Briefcase, but Coolidge’s role was brief. 

Jennifer Coolidge’s career in Hollywood goes back to the ‘90s, finding early success in movies like American Pie and Best In Show. The actress has been consistently working over the years, but these past few have seen her consistently taking major roles, including the Netflix series The Watcher. Coolidge recently spoke to her longtime presence in the industry through a story about her favorite wedding being Billie Eilish’s parents' big day.

Hilary Duff is back for the second season of How I Met Your Father, and this time it has double the episodes as the first season. As her character, Sophie, continues trying to find “the one” on the Hulu series, she is going to be dating guys that you may not expect, and that includes someone a bit older. Now Duff is opening up about having John Corbett play her older lover, after he played a very different role in a movie with her a while ago.

Hardcore fans of Hilary Duff may remember the very underrated movie she did in 2004 called Raise Your Voice. The film saw her teenage character go to a music program after her brother’s death, against her father’s wishes, and John Corbett played her mentor and teacher. Fast-forward 19 years and the two are going to be playing love interests in HIMYF!

In a new interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the actress discussed that very topic. The two playing love interests when Duff was a teenager of course didn't happen, but she is now 35 to Corbett's 61. Now that Duff is older, she had a fun response to Meyers pointing out that he'd once played her teacher. She said: 

With Sophie trying to find the love of her life, it was only just a matter of time before she decided to date someone older after finding people her age wasn’t exactly working. The fact that her new beau is someone who used to portray Duff’s teacher is definitely a bit unexpected, but stranger things have happened. What episode he comes in and for how long is unknown, but that is definitely something to look forward to as the season goes on. Check out the full interview for yourself:

Meanwhile, John Corbett is not the only big name worth talking about who will pop up during Season 2 of How I Met Your Father. The premiere episode ended on a shocker when Sophie accidentally hit a car in front of her. The person who stepped out was none other than Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson. It should be interesting to see what will happen when his storyline finally comes into play and if any other HIMYM stars will reprise their roles for the second season.

It was a brief moment, but an exciting one nonetheless, as Neil Patrick Harris made a legendary, and shocking, return to the How I Met Your [insert significant other] universe as Barney Stinson. As the second season of How I Met Your Father gets going, it sounds like this small appearance from the legendary character will not be his only one, as the show’s creators recently broke down his cameo and NPH’s future on the Hulu spinoff. 

The show's creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger broke down the shocking final minutes of the episode when Sophie reveals that she thinks she’s dating her dad, and then gets into a fender bender with Barney with TV Line. It’s been made clear by the creators that they want to bring back HIMYM characters, and they also have specific goals for when they ask an OG actor to come back to the universe, Aptaker explained their reasoning and the big cameo:  

It will be so fun to see how Barney fits into the greater How I Met Your Father story. I’m sure he’ll bring all the fun jokes and shenanigans back, however, it’s also clear that the more problematic aspects of the character have been left in the past. 

When it came to bringing Barney back, Berger explained that they did talk about how the character’s actions on HIMYM would not fly these days. She said that was something they talked about with Harris, and they ultimately were able to bring back his character in a faithful way, while leaving some of his “antics” -- as Harris called his character’s questionable actions according to TV Line -- in the past. 

Also, while we don’t know much about Barney’s storyline just yet, one thing we know for certain is he’s not Sophie’s dad. The creators were quick to rule that out as an option, partially because Harris' character would have been a teen when Hilary Duff’s character was born. However, they really didn’t reveal much else about how Harris’ character fits into Sophie’s world. Although, Aptaker did tease: 

So, unlike Cobie Smulders’ brief cameo, it sounds like Harris is joining the How I Met Your Father cast for a bit longer than one episode, which is very exciting. Along with Smulders and Harris, Josh Radnor also said he's willing to return if asked, so now all we’d need is Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan, and we could have the whole gang back together. Hopefully, this all happens someday, but for now, we luckily will get more of Barney Stinson as new episodes of HIMYF drop every Tuesday according to the 2023 TV schedule, and all you need to tune in is a Hulu subscription.   

Barney Stinson once exclaimed: “Have you met Ted?” on How I Met Your Mother, and now many fans of the classic sitcom are asking the same question, as they wonder if the cast of How I Met Your Father will ever meet Josh Radnor. Well, there might be an answer to this question, as Radnor recently weighed in on if he’d ever reprise his role as Ted Mosby on Hilary Duff’s HIMYM spin-off series. 

While Radnor was promoting his new series Hunters – which you can watch with an Amazon Prime subscription later this month – he was asked about returning to the world of How I Met Your significant other. He revealed to Newsweek that he’s spoken with Duff about the idea, saying: 

While chatting, Cobie Smulders' cameo in the How I Met Your Father Season 1 finale came up. While the actor admitted he hadn’t seen it, Radnor did say he is down to do something similar.

I know when I saw the return of Robin Scherbatsky on HIMYF, I immediately added the possibility of more cameos to my list of things I wanted to see in Season 2. It seems likely that it could happen, considering Smulders’ cameo, Radnor’s willingness to return, the showrunners being open about the future of guest appearances, and the heartfelt tribute HIMYF paid to Bob Saget during Season 1. 

Considering how Season 1 of How I Met Your Father ended, I think it’s safe to say that Duff’s character might be in need of advice from the man who went through an incredibly similar situation years ago. While she tries to figure out which boy to choose, despite HIMYM’s controversial ending, I think Ted would be the perfect person to help her navigate the murky waters of dating in New York City. 

Lucky for us, we’ll get to see the return of Hilary Duff and co., because How I Met Your Father is right at the top of the 2023 TV schedule, and it is set to return to Hulu on January 24. Hopefully, that means we’ll see some OG How I Met Your Mother cast cameos, Sophie will make a choice about which man she loves, and we’ll eventually find out how she met her kids’ father.

The whole thing started when Hilary Duff shared some photos to her Instagram from a Women’s Health Magazine cover shoot that she did earlier this year. She thanked all who had been involved, even saying she’d gotten to keep the blue one-piece. Check out the pics: 

Too bad she admitted that she can’t find the swimsuit! There were lots of complimentary responses to the fun post, but one comment started getting attention for an unfavorable reason. 

Fans Could Not Stop Roasting The Hilary Duff Tweet 

The Twitter account Daily Loud reposted a couple of shots, commenting that the actress was “still looking great at age 35,” with fire and exclamation point emojis. Many people seemed to take issue with the sentiment, and particularly the use of the word “still,” with one commenter pointing out that 35 isn’t as ancient as the comment made it sound: 

In fact, a number of people responded to the viral tweet, blasting the Twitter user over the perceived shock at Hilary Duff’s photos:

The original poster of the comment saw the backlash the tweet was causing and chose to address it. However, instead of possibly admitting they’d made an error or acknowledging the complaints of the commenters, they decided to go a different route. 

Twitter User Doubles Down After Viral Duff Comment 

The Daily Loud poster seemed to have missed the point of their critics, and in response to the viral attention, they doubled down and added more qualifiers to the comments about Hilary Duff. The comment read: 

That, of course, did nothing to ebb the flow of comments, as Twitter users continued to try to explain their frustrations, with one saying: 

A word of advice: Nobody should try to answer that question. As for Hilary Duff, fans will be able to see more of her on the small screen, when How I Met Your Father returns for Season 2. Aaron Carter’s sudden death has been followed by a plethora of tributes and outpouring of support from numerous fans and even celebrities like Raven-Symoné. At the same time, new details have surfaced on the status of the late singer’s professional projects. Just last week, it was reported that Carter was working on a TV project, an independent sitcom. It’s now been reported that the star was also crafting a memoir, which would’ve theoretically focused on the entertainer’s life and career. However, at this point, it appears that the book may not see the light of day for a few reasons. 

Aaron Carter Was Allegedly Not Keen On Having His Memoir Released

Before he passed away, the “I Want Candy” singer had apparently teamed up with Ballast Books in order to tell his story. Page Six reports, however, that the partnership allegedly broke down. The news outlet received a statement from the performer’s publicist, who asserted that is client ultimately changed his mind while working on the text: 

The book, titled Aaron Carter: An Incomplete Story of an Incomplete Life, was set to drop November 15 though, ahead of its release, it’s already caused quite a stir. A few excerpts from the memoir have already leaked and seemingly hint at somewhat salacious moments. As mentioned by Page Six, one section sees Carter recalling a time that he purportedly slept over at Michael Jackson’s house. During that portion of the book, Carter says that Jackson was allegedly wearing “tighty-whitey underwear” when he encountered the “Thriller” performer at the foot of his bed. Anecdotes like these have drawn backlash from a number of people, which could lend credence to the notion of the book not seeing the light of day. One such person to speak out was a certain Disney Channel alum.

Hilary Duff Shared Brutally Honest Thoughts On The Memoir

Aaron Carter and Hilary Duff famously dated during the early 2000s, during which both were teen idols. With that, Duff paid tribute to Carter following his passing earlier this month. She later caught wind of the memoir and shared some honest thoughts. In a statement shared with Daily Mail, the actress called out the publishing company for “recklessly pushing a book out” in order to “capitalize on” the singer’s death: 

Needless to say, Hilary Duff isn’t happy about how things have been handled thus far. So at this point, the question is how has Ballast Books handled the pushback from celebrities and the late star’s representation. Well, the company has indeed spoken out and it’s changing course on its plans a bit.

Ballast Books Has Chosen To Delay The Release Of Aaron Carter’s Memoir

It would seem that Ballast Books has opted to put a halt to the memoir’s release, at least for the moment. The company’s attorney, Scott Atherton of Atherton Galardi Mullen & Reeder PLLC, confirmed in a statement shared with the LA Times that the decision had been made “out of respect for the Carter family.” However, Atherton also claimed that the “Oh Aaron” performer did want his story to be told and that the hope was for people to learn from his personal experiences: 

The Carter family has been grieving during this time, with Nick Carter penning an emotional tribute to his brother shortly after his passing. (Reports indicate that Aaron and Nick were on good terms before the latter’s death.) Only time will tell whether the book will actually be released and whether Aaron’s loved ones and representatives approve of it.

In the early aughts a slew of child stars rose to fame thanks to work on one of two networks: Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel. Aaron Carter and Hilary Duff were two of the names to come out of that machine and even famously dated during that period. Duff was amongst the names of those who paid tribute to the former child star after Carter was found dead in his home earlier this weekend. He was 34. 

Taking to Instagram, Hilary Duff wrote about the “effervescent” nature of the young man she had known and, yes, that she even says she loved “deeply” during a period where both of the two were ascending in fame and notoriety. Years later, Duff has her own family and own children with ex-Mike Comrie and her husband Matthew Koma (he of the Candace Cameron Bure TikTok drama), but it’s clear the memories of that early relationship have stayed with her over time. She wrote of Carter: 

In the midst of Aaron Carter’s rise to prominence thanks to hits like “I Want Candy” and “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It),” the burgeoning star was asked to appear in an episode of the hit Disney Channel original series Lizzie McGuire, which happened to star Hilary Duff. Around that time, Carter had been linked to fellow teen actress Lindsay Lohan and, as reports indicated the younger Carter might have been cozying up with the Disney Channel star, reports of a feud between the two actresses had also swirled. 

Years later, all seemed to be bygones, as Duff even amusingly responded to a video of kids mistaking her for Lindsay Lohan.

Whatever did happen between the leading ladies, Duff and Carter did seemingly fall in love, at least for a little while, as the actress nodded to in her Instagram post, simultaneously paying tribute to the star after his death and looking back at a past period in her life. Long past her childhood years, the actress has moved on to adult projects including the charming series Younger (luckily the cast has moved on) and the HIMYM spinoff How I Met Your Father. HIMYF has already been renewed by Hulu for Season 2. But a lot of fans still fondly remember her from her early work. 

Meanwhile, Aaron Carter had previously written about his romance with the How I Met Your Father star on Twitter, advising fans "Don't be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever... Like me." He would also clarify those feelings in an interview with ET in 2014, in which he spoke fondly of his time with the Disney Channel alum.

He also told the outlet at the time he wasn't expecting a response from Hilary Duff, who was already married to Mike Comrie at that time. 

Carter had been making personal moves before he was found dead in his bathtub on Saturday.  A recent tweet indicated he was trying to sell a second home and make some money in a real estate market. He's also been growing a popular TikTok page. Though his relationship with Backstreet Boys brother Nick Carter was fraught with issues and he'd broken up with his fiancèe Melanie Martin in 2021, CinemaBlend's condolences go out to those who were impacted by the loss of the still-young star. 

Candace Cameron Bure has found herself in the center of some TikTok drama over the past week, as first JoJo Siwa called her the “rudest celebrity” she’d met, and then Hilary Duff’s husband Matthew Koma schooled Bure on the actual meaning of Bruce Springsteen’s song “Born in the U.S.A.” The How I Met Your Father star was indirectly pulled into the situation via her husband, and judging from the family pics Duff shared on social media, “indirectly” is how she’s choosing to respond as well. 

Hilary Duff posted a series of photos to her Instagram Stories, showing her, Matthew Koma, and their kids enjoying some family time. There were some bowling pics that definitely didn't seem to be in response to any drama involving the Fuller House star and The Boss, but one photo in particular showed that if she did take sides, she’s got Koma’s back. There’s no questioning where the Lizzie McGuire actress’ loyalties lie, as her photo boasts that she "Got the best one." 

It’s unknown why Matthew Koma picked this week to call out Candace Cameron Bure for not knowing that the 1984 hit was not a patriotic anthem, but rather a commentary on the terrible treatment of Vietnam War vets upon their return to the United States. While Koma is definitely not wrong, Bure’s post was from the 4th of July — posted nearly a month before his response — and the GAC Family actress is hardly the first person to make such a mistake.

Either way, Candace Cameron Bure found her name making the rounds on another news cycle, which is likely not anybody’s preferred way to start the week. That being the case, it’s hard to say if Hilary Duff’s Instagram post was in response to all the media attention, or simply a cute post of her young daughter having a case of the Mondays. There was obviously no reference in her reading to the continued TikTok hullabaloo (Bruce Springsteen makes zero appearances in Scripture), but responding via Bible verse does seem to be par for the course with the Full House alum. Candace Cameron Bure initially posted a different verse from Isaiah after JoJo Siwa’s accusations that she was the “rudest celebrity” the So You Think You Can Dance judge had ever met.

We’ll have to see if this leg of the feud ends here, or if the Aurora Teagarden actress will go on the defensive again. Why Is Hilary Duff’s Husband Roasting Candace Cameron Bure?

With what’s happened in the past week, one would think that TikTok is just bad news for Candace Cameron Bure. Word about JoJo Siwa revealing that the former Hallmark star was the “rudest celebrity” she’d ever met spread because of a TikTok challenge, and now Hilary Duff’s husband, singer / songwriter Matthew Koma has come for Cameron Bure on the social media platform, and it’s all because of her use of the Bruce Spingsteen hit, “Born in the U.S.A.” Take a look at his TikTok post, and we can discuss it, below:

Well, now. I’m not sure what prompted Koma to go looking for Cameron Bure’s TikTok video, since it was posted nearly a month ago, but he makes a solid point. Despite the celebratory sound of Bruce Springsteen’s incredibly recognizable 1984 tune, which was released on the mega-hit album of the same name, the song is not a simple praising of the United States, but about Vietnam veterans returning from war and realizing that they were not being treated well here after their service. So, it’s not really the kind of song that Cameron Bure or anyone else should want to use as a “Let’s get pumped!” July 4th hit, seeing as how it’s about America acting like a big ol’ butthole.

It is possible that Koma didn’t seek out Cameron Bure’s video and it just popped up for him or someone sent it to him, but it makes a lot of sense that he’d be annoyed by her use of the song, as he cites Springsteen as one of his musical influences, and even produced a remix of his song “Rocky Ground,” that the Boss released as a single in 2012.

The past week has seen a number of people come out to support Cameron Bure after Siwa’s reports of her being somewhat dismissive of the star when she was an 11-year-old fan looking to take a photo with her at a Fuller House event. These have included several of those from Cameron Bure’s GAC / Hallmark family like Jen Lilley and Alexa PenaVega, and her daughter, Natasha Bure, who posted and then deleted a rebuttal that slammed Siwa.

To be somewhat fair to Candace Cameron Bure (who’s also been dealing with the loss of her good friend, Bob Saget, this year), there are loads of people who have mistaken Bruce Springsteen’s Top Ten hit as pure patriotism in the many decades since its release, including major political figures who’ve heard that triumphant-sounding chorus and not paid attention to the rest of the lyrics. 

The hitmaker himself noted in a Fresh Air interview that the song was written like many of his others, with “hope” and “pride” in the chorus and “the blues” in the verses, and now that Matthew Koma has called Cameron Bure out for her very common misunderstanding, maybe more people will recognize what “Born in the U.S.A." is really about.

Twin brothers Dylan and Cole Sprouse (the latter of which went on to join the Riverdale cast) have shared the same role in several TV shows (most notably Grace Under Fire) and movies (such as Big Daddy with Adam Sandler) and have played siblings just as often, most famously as the title characters of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, its spin-off The Suite Life on Deck, and 2011’s The Suite Life Movie.

Tia, Tamera, And Tahj Mowry  (Sister, Sister, Smart Guy, Seventeen Again)

Haylie Duff would appear on three episodes of her younger sister, Hilary’s, Disney Channel show, Lizzie McGuire, and provided the singing voice of Isabella Parigi in the theatrical spin-off before they both played a singing group on an episode of American Dreams, sisters in the 2006 rags-to-riches story Material Girls, and both leant their voices to the infamous animated movie Foodfight!, which was released in 2012.

Aly And AJ Michalka (Various)

Singer-songwriter duo Aly and AJ Michalka first shared the screen in the 2006 Disney Channel original movie Cow Belles as sisters, again in the MTV original Super Sweet 16: The Movie the next year as rivals, followed by three episodes of Aly’s CW series Hellcats in 2011 as half-sisters. Most recently, they appeared in the 2015 drama, Weepah Way For Now, as what appear to be fictionalized versions of themselves.

Dakota And Elle Fanning (I Am Sam, Taken)

Elle Fanning has portrayed a younger version of her older sister, Dakota, on two separate occasions: first in the 2001 drama I Am Sam and secondly in the Steven Spielberg-produced, Syfy original miniseries, Taken, in 2002.

Spencer And Abigail Breslin (Various)

Academy Award nominee Abigail and her older brother, Spencer, played siblings in both Raising Helen and The Princess Diaries 2: A Royal Engagement in 2004, played elves in The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause in 2006, and later played cousins in the 2014 crime drama, Perfect Sisters.

Jason And Justine Bateman (Arrested Development)

Justine Bateman played her real-life brother, Jason's, sibling in the 1986 TV movie Can You Feel Me Dancing? and a sex worker whom Jason’s Michael Bluth mistakes for his long-lost sibling on Arrested Development.

John, Joan, Ann, And Bill Cusack (Grosse Pointe Blank)

While beloved star John Cusack and his Academy-nominated sister, Joan, have appeared in more films together than most celebrity siblings can claim (including Say Anything… and High Fidelity), the only screen credit that they also share with both their sister, Ann, and brother, Bill, is 1997’s Grosse Pointe Blank, which John also co-wrote and produced.

Bill And Brian Doyle Murray (Various) 

Bill Murray and his older brother, Brian, are both Saturday Night Live veterans (although at different times) and have several classic movies in common - including Caddyshack, Scrooged, Ghostbusters II, Groundhog Day, and The Razor's Edge.

Years before casting him in his amazing directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, Ben Affleck shared the screen with his younger brother and fellow Oscar winner, Casey, in Good Will Hunting (which Ben co-wrote with Matt Damon) and Kevin Smith’s Chasing Amy in 1997.

Macaulay And Kieran Culkin (Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York)

Kieran Culkin (now more famous than ever since starring on HBO’s Succession) made his acting debut alongside his older brother (child megastar Macaulay Culkin) in 1990’s Home Alone cast as his cousin, Fuller - a role he would also reprise in the 1992 sequel.

Rory And Kieran Culkin (Igby Goes Down)

In addition to playing Macaulay’s younger self in Richie Rich, the youngest Culkin brother, Rory, also played a younger version of Kieran as the title role in 2002's Igby Goes Down.

The Wayans Siblings (Various) 

Where do we start with the Wayans Siblings? Well, for instance, several of them (such as Damon and Kim Wayans) were a part of the In Living Color cast with star and creator Keenen Ivory Wayans, who later directed his younger brothers, Marlon and Shawn, in movies like White Chicks, the first two Scary Movie installments, and Little Man.

Zooey And Emily Deschanel (Bones)

In Season 5 of Bones, star Emily Deschanel’s sister (Zooey of the Elf cast fame and later the lead of the New Girl cast) guest starred as Temperance Brennan’s second cousin, Margaret Whitesell.

Fred And Ben Savage (Little Monsters, The Wonder Years, Boy Meets World)

After playing siblings in the family-friendly horror film, Little Monsters, in 1989, Ben Savage made a guest appearance on his older brother, Fred’s, hit dramedy, The Wonder Years, in 1990 and later returned the favor by inviting him to the Boy Meets World cast for an episode in 1998.

Charlie Sheen And Emilio Estevez (Various)

After making several movies together - including Young Guns, Men At Work, and Rated X (the latter two of which Emilio Estevez directed), Charlie Sheen (née Carlos Estevez) reunited with his brother on an episode of his hit sitcom, Two and a Half Men, in 2008.

Vanessa and Laura Marano (Saving Zoë)

Both of these talented ladies had guest appearances on Dexter at different times in the series’ run, but Vanessa Marano and her younger sister, Laura, did appear together in the 2019 mystery, Saving Zoë, as siblings torn apart by one’s unsolved murder.

Nat And Alex Wolff (The Naked Brothers Band, Mr. Troop Mom, Stella’s Last Weekend)

Hereditary’s Alex Wolff and his older brother, Peacock’s Joe vs. Carole cast member Nat Wolff, both debuted as fictionalized versions of themselves in Nickelodeon’s faux rockumentary, The Naked Brothers Band, its series continuation, and the 2009 TV movie Mr. Troop Mom before reuniting in 2018’s Stella’s Last Weekend, which was written and directed by their mother, Polly Draper.

Vera And Taissa Farmiga (Higher Ground, At Middleton, The Nun)

Scream Queens Vera and Taissa Farmiga, who are often mistaken for mother and daughter, played mother and daughter in 2013’s At Middleton after Taissa previously played her older sister’s younger self in Vera’s 2011 directorial debut, Higher Ground. However, interestingly, their characters in the 2018 Conjuring spin-off, The Nun, have no apparent familial ties.

Maude And Iris Apatow (Knocked Up, This Is 40, Funny People)

Euphoria’s Maude Apatow and her younger sister, Iris, have played siblings in 2007’s Knocked Up, its “sort-of sequel” This is 40 from 2012, and 2009’s Funny People - all three of which also starred their real mother, Leslie Mann, as their mother, and were written and directed by their father, Judd Apatow.

Dan And Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek)

While Annie Murphy plays co-creator Dan Levy’s on-screen sister in the Schitt’s Creek cast, Café Tropical owner, Twyla Sands, is played by his real-life sister, Sarah.

Mary-Kate, Ashley, And Elizabeth Olsen (How The West Was Fun)

After Full House made the Olsen Twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, household names and  before the Marvel movies made their younger sister, Elizabeth, an A-lister, all three of them appeared together in the ABC original TV movie How the West Was Fun in 1994.

Bill And Alexander Skarsgård (White Water Fury)

Years before his terrifying performance as Pennywise in It, Bill Skarsgård made his acting debut alongside his older brother, True Blood cast member Alexander, in the 2000 Swedish thriller, White Water Fury.

Blake And Robyn Lively (Simon Says)

Robyn Lively, star of 1989’s Teen Witch, shared the screen with her then up-and-coming half-sister, former Gossip Girl cast member Blake Lively, in a 2006 slasher flick called Simon Says, which also stars fellow ‘80s icon Crispin Glover.

Brian And Domhnall Gleeson (Mother!, Frank Of Ireland)

Despite plenty of years of experience between the them, it was not until 2017 when Star Wars star Domnhall Gleeson and his younger brother, Brian, shared the screen in Mother! before reuniting as co-creators and co-stars of the Amazon Prime original comedy Frank of Ireland - also starring their father, Brendan Gleeson.

Eddie And Charlie Murphy (Harlem Nights, Norbit)

Comedy icon Eddie Murphy worked behind the scenes a lot with his older brother, Charlie, who passed away in 2017, but the two would also share a few acting credits, - namely Eddie’s 1989 directorial debut Harlem Nights (also Charlie’s first movie), and in 2006’s Norbit, in which Charlie voiced a dog named Floyd.

Phylicia Rashad And Debbie Allen (The Cosby Show, Grey’s Anatomy, The Old Settler)

Phylicia Rashad and her younger sister, Emmy-winning dance legend Debbie Allen, have made guest appearances on each other’s shows - The Cosby Show, on which Rashad played Claire Huxtable, and Grey’s Anatomy, on which Allen plays Dr. Catherine Fox (née Avery) - and both starred in a 2001 TV movie called The Old Settler, which Allen also directed.

Ron And Clint Howard (Various) 

You can find Clint Howard in just about every movie directed by his brother, Ron Howard - including his feature-length directorial debut from 1977, Grand Theft Auto, which was also the brothers’ third time acting alongside each other after the 1963 film The Courtship of Eddie’s Father and a handful of episodes of The Andy Griffith Show.

Angelina Jolie And James Haven (Gia, Hell’s Kitchen, Original Sin)

Audiences probably remember Angelina Jolie’s brother, James Haven, better for other reasons than all the times he shared the screen with his younger sister - namely Gia and Hell’s Kitchen from 1998, and 2001’s Original Sin.

Jared And Shannon Leto (Various)

In addition to being bandmates with his young brother, Oscar winner Jared Leto, in 30 Seconds to Mars, Shannon Leto also shared the screen with him on a couple of episodes of My So-Called Life (on which Jared played the iconic Jordan Catalano) and through brief appearances in the movies Prefontaine from 1997, 1998’s Highway, and Sol Goode in 2003.

Chris And Scott Evans (Before We Go, Playing It Cool)

Former Captain America actor Chris Evans has a brother named Scott who has also appeared in two romantic-comedies from 2014 with his older sibling, called Before We Go (which Chris also directed) and Playing It Cool.

Sarah And Laura Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Program, Bob’s Burgers, Masters Of Sex)

Comedian and actress Sarah Silverman and her sister, Laura, played heavily fictionalized versions of themselves as series regulars on The Sarah Silverman Program, made guest appearances on Showtime’s Masters of Sex together, and have recurred on Bob’s Burgers as Jimmy Pesto’s twin sons, Andy and Ollie.

Kevin, Nick, And Joe Jonas (Camp Rock Movies, Jonas)

Back when they were the biggest thing to come out of Disney Channel, Kevin, Nick, and Joe Jonas played three brothers in a band not named the Jonas Brothers in the Camp Rock movies, and later played themselves to more comedic effect in their own sitcom, aptly titled Jonas.

Looks like talent really does run in the family.

Those of use who came up in the early aughts of the 2000s can easily identify the Disney Channel icons of that era – and spot them, too. Zenon, Cheetah Girls, the Twitches, Cadet Kelly and the list goes on and on. Yet none of the actors on the network were quite as notorious as Hilary Duff, who played Lizzie McGuire for two seasons on the network. She has since gone on to do a bevy of other movies and shows in her career, including the long-awaited How I Met Your Father spinoff that has caused no shortage of critical debate. Nevertheless, Duff's notoriety hasn’t stopped younger kinds of late from mistaking her for Lindsay Lohan (of all people). No worries, the actress has a funny take (or should we say takedown) of the situation.

First, let’s rewind to the egregious TikTok that started it all. In it, a middle school teacher asked her students to identify several big names from the 2000s. Hilariously, they thought Hannah Montana was some cross between Jojo Siwa, Katy Perry and Britney Spears. Ashley Tisdale's Sharpay from High School Musical (the originals) was likewise confused for Hannah Montana. And of course, a pic of Hilary Duff from her old Lizzie McGuire days was believed to be fellow former child star Lindsay Lohan. If you haven’t already seen it, check out the viral clip below:

Now, to be fair, the two actresses did occupy the Disney Channel roughly around the same time period. While HIMYF star was worrying about getting her first bra as Lizzie McGuire, the Parent Trap icon was the lead in the iconic DC original movie Get a Clue in 2002. However, the comparisons stop there – and Duff let the youth know just that. See the response from her Instagram stories here:

What’s sad is, even if the kiddies saw the HIMYF star’s take on their error, they probably still don’t get the references being made. Which must mean I’m probably getting too old… I humbly admit to not knowing much myself about any of Disney Channel’s recent lineups, beyond that Zendaya and Olivia Rodrigo are exports from it for the Gen Z set (to much success). Hilary Duff, clearly though, doesn’t have any further intention of being a saint for those younger audiences anymore.

Despite what the recent whoopsie-daisy suggests, the star remains a prolific actress, as I said. She starred on the TV Land series Younger for seven seasons and just recently got a Season 2 renewal for HIMYF. Similarly, Lindsay Lohan would delve into much more adult subject matter in her subsequent films. She’s lately been on a 2-year hiatus from movie-making but these kids might recognize the actress when her new Christmas movie drops on Netflix. (Or…will they just confuse her with her fellow Disney kid…?)

Either way, for my early 2000s purposes (and apparently educational) purposes, me and the youth are gonna need that defunct Lizzie McGuire revival to finally be released… if nothing else. In the meantime, fans can check out the 5 Marvel characters we think Hilary Duff would be perfect for or get up to scratch on HIMYF with a Hulu subscription.

How I Met Your Father has officially been renewed for Season 2 on Hulu, and the cast members just can’t contain their excitement. Hilary Duff and her co-stars took to social media to celebrate the announcement that the relationship calamities aren't over yet. They shared a sweet photo of the cast, with Duff clearly looking forward to continuing Sophie’s love story.

The spinoff of the CBS hit How I Met Your Mother premiered on Hulu in January, telling the story of Sophie (Hilary Duff) and her close-knit friends in the year 2022, as they figure out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and seemingly limitless options. And all with Kim Cattrall playing the older and settled Sophie, who is narrating from the future. Check out Duff’s post below: 

Some of the series’ other stars, including Christopher Lowell and Francia Raisa, also joined with Hilary Duff in sharing the happy news on Instagram, with Raisa adding her own feelings to the cast photo.

Christopher Lowell plays Jesse Walker, an aspiring musician who became an Internet meme after a very public failed marriage proposal to Meredith (Leighton Meester). Francia Raisa is Valentina, Sophie's best friend and roommate. 

Tien Tran, who plays Jesse's adopted sister Ellen Gilbert, shared the same photo as her co-stars on her page, but added her own embellishments to show her enthusiasm about continuing to work with the "cuties." 

The series has continued to expand its universe in Season 1, with Paget Brewster recently making her debut as Sophie’s mother, Lori. Lori paid her daughter an unexpected visit in the February 8 episode, and viewers got a peek into Sophie's past and how moving around so much as a child affected her. While Lori and her "party girl" reputation aren't expected to make any more appearances in Season 1, the renewal for Season 2 opens up the opportunity to further explore her and Sophie's complicated relationship.

Kim Cattrall's role as future Sophie narrating her younger days is a continuation of the storytelling style introduced in the series' predecessor, How I Met Your Mother. On the CBS sitcom, Josh Radnor played Ted Mosby, with Bob Saget providing the voice of older Ted as the narrator. It is pretty cool to see Hilary Duff in the How I Met Your Father cast and, specifically, to see her play the lead role of a sitcom again - especially since her Lizzie McGuire revival remains unreleased to Disney+. However, some day soon, I would also like to see her make a grand return to the big screen, too, and is there a better (and more fun) way to make such an impression these days than starring in superhero movies?

To date, the only other comic book character that the former Younger cast member has played is the witchy title role of Casper Meets Wendy in 1998. While that is not a bad way to debut your career, I think that Hilary Duff has earned the chance to expand her repertoire with a role in the Marvel movies and I have a few characters in mind, such as one with whom she already shares one special ability with.

Dazzler

As is the case with just about every other Disney Channel icon, Hilary Duff also took up a pretty successful singing career that poured over into her acting career from time to time. She performed a duet with herself in The Lizzie McGuire Movie in 2003, did a rendition of “Leader of the Pack” on NBC’s American Dreams the same year, played a performing arts student in 2004’s Raise Your Voice, and was a Middle Eastern pop star in the dark 2008 satire War Inc. Her next opportunity to combine both talents could occur in the upcoming X-Men movies reboot from Marvel Studios.

In the late 1970s, Marvel partnered with Casablanca Records to create a character who would have her own real-life record deal (featuring songs sung by an actress, of course), which is how Dazzler came to be. While that pop star gimmick never took off in reality, when the mutant wasn’t assisting the X-Men with her power of converting light into sonic energy, she was on stage. Fans are hoping that she will have a bigger role in a future movie than she did in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and casting Hilary Duff would automatically make her unmissable.

Mystique

Another one of Hilary Duff’s most notable movie roles was as, essentially, the “Bond Girl” to Frankie Muniz’s “James Bond” in 2003’s Agent Cody Banks. However, she did not show up in the London-set sequel, which I suppose was to reflect the tradition of not repeating female leads in James Bond movies, but I would have liked to have seen her at least given the opportunity to be more like Bond than the Bond Girl. That opportunity could, once again, lie in the X-Men movies.

Of the countless number of spies in the Marvel Comics Universe, several have already been cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the many who has not is Mystique, who is especially good at that job due to her ability to assume the appearance of any person she chooses. With Hilary Duff in the role, she would not only receive the ultimate experience playing a spy, but would also be able to say she played one of Marvel’s most beloved and complex characters.

Sharon Rogers

In retrospect, because Jennifer Lawrence was always vocal about how Mystique’s makeup process kind of sucked, I could easily understand if Hilary Duff would rather not undergo such a dramatic and tumultuous transformation for the sake of becoming an action movie star. She would, however, require less maintenance to play another character I had in mind, who more casual Marvel fans might not recognize, but has potential to show up with all of the MCU’s tinkering with their wide-reaching Multiverse lately.

In an alternate reality known in the comics as Earth-415 (Marvel’s main continuity takes place in Earth-616, if you did not know already), Steve Rogers never got trapped under ice but, instead, got to marry Peggy Carter - similar to how he changed his fate at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Together they had a daughter named Sharon, who would one day grow up to succeed her father as the new Captain America. After Marvel Studios teased the idea of a female Cap on Disney+’s What If…?, bringing the concept to live action sounds like a fun idea, and casting Hilary Duff as the badass warrior would be a dazzling sight that could lead to a major turning point in her career.

Crystal

A credit on Hilary Duff’s resume you may not have know about was an episode of Dora the Explorer, in which she voiced a character named the Ice Witch. While she sounds like Nickelodeon’s answer to Ilsa from Frozen, she is really just a spoiled rich girl who steals every pair of ice skates in the Snowy Forest so she can skate by herself and not have to share with anyone. Well, if it were me signing up to play someone with “Ice” in their name, I would have hoped the character had some ice-based superpowers.

To make up for the disappointment I assume Hilary Duff might have had over the animated character’s lack of freezing ability, how about a Marvel character whose many extraordinary abilities include controlling ice? Crystalia Amaquelin is an Inhuman who can manipulate all four of the main elements: earth, wind, fire, and air. Now, I am aware that Crystal was already a character on ABC’s critically panned Inhumans TV show, but the likelihood of that remaining canon is slim.

Tigra

Another one of Hilary Duff’s less-recognizable roles comes from the otherwise infamous, direct-to-DVD movie Foodfight!, which could be considered a crudely animated, comparatively more family-friendly 2012 prototype to Sausage Party. However, inexplicably, she does not play a grocery item, but some strange half-cat, half-human hybrid named Sunshine Goodness, who is the love interest of Charlie Sheen’s canine hero, Dex Dogtective (I swear I am not making this up).

Anyway, I think a fun way to reference (and/or make up for) this obscure moment from Hilary Duff’s career would be to cast her as a strange half-cat, half-human hybrid in a Marvel movie. The feline-esque hero I have in mind is Greer Nelson - otherwise known as Tigra. The former fashion model turned lab assistant turned Avenger was saved from death and reborn with characteristics of the eponymous jungle cat by a race of cat-like people.

Ya know, I would not be surprised to learn about an alternate reality in which Hilary Duff becomes a DC movies star as the best live-action iteration of Supergirl the world had ever seen. However, in this reality, I think the Marvel characters above might suit her even more fittingly.

When a revival of beloved early 2000s Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire was announced, millennial hearts burst worldwide. The new series was set to feature Hilary Duff reprising the titular character, now in her 30s, trying to go about life and figuring things out along the way, like many fans who grew up with the series. Unfortunately, due to creative differences, the show went into limbo and never saw the light of day.

Now Hilary Duff is starring in another revival of sorts with How I Met Your Father. While she’s focusing on the Hulu series, Lizzie still crosses her mind and in an interview with Cosmopolitan, the singer revealed whether she’s considered leaking the few episodes that were filmed before production halted permanently:

When filming began on Lizzie McGuire, Hilary Duff was ecstatic to revisit this character after so long, and fans were definitely happy to have her back. Although not many official pictures were released beyond the first look at her return as Lizzie, it was still enough to get plenty of people excited. Duff expressed her disappointment after news broke of the cancellation, but now she still isn’t counting it out, and neither should fans. 

Not too much more information was revealed about the revival, but when asked about it, Duff explained just what Lizzie would have been up to since we last saw her as a one-time international pop star singing in Rome:

The thing about Lizzie McGuire is that it would have catered to fans who grew up with the original series and identified with Lizzie and her quirkiness. And it looks like that wouldn’t have changed with the revival. Many fans, as well as Hilary Duff, were hoping that Disney-owned Hulu would pick it up so the show could have adult-themed storylines that weren’t exactly appropriate for Disney+, but as of now, nothing is happening.

Hopefully fans of Lizzie McGuire will get the same treatment that fans of iCarly got, even if it’s just those already filmed episodes, but for now, make sure to watch Hilary Duff in How I Met Your Father on Hulu, with new episodes dropping every Tuesday!

Kids, in the early years of the 21st Century, the How I Met Your Mother cast became one of the most beloved sitcom ensembles of its generation. Thus, I am sure the How I Met Your Father cast are aware they have some legen- wait for it… DARILY big shoes to fill with their spiritual sequel series on Hulu. 

Developed by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger and executive produced by original HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, How I Met Your Father has a similar plot to its long-running, CBS original predecessor, but from the point of view of a woman telling her children her own love story, which largely consists of her and her friends’ many adventurous anecdotes while living in New York. I promise that we will not take too long explaining the How I Met Your Mother spin-off’s new characters and where you might recognize the actors who play them, starting with our lead protagonist.

Hilary Duff (Sophie)

While How I Met Your Mother was the story of how Josh Radnor’s Ted Mosby met his wife, How I Met Your Father is the story of how Hilary Duff’s Sophie met her husband. This is the actress and singer’s first leading role on a TV comedy since she played the title character of Disney Channel’s Lizzie McGuire, which spawned a theatrical movie in 2003 and almost spawned a Disney+ revival in 2020.

Before becoming a Disney star, Duff debuted as a young witch in 1998’s Casper Meets Wendy and eventually starred in movies like Cheaper By the Dozen in 2003 or 2005’s A Cinderella Story before offers for more mature films like 2008’s War, Inc. or the more recent (and more controversial) The Haunting of Sharon Tate in 2019. How I Met Your Father is also her first major follow-up to her role on the Younger cast, after the TV Land original had its final season on Paramount+ in 2021.

Francia Raisa (Valentina)

As Valentina, Sophie’s best friend and roommate (or, the Marshall Eriksen to her Ted, essentially) on How I Met Your Father, we have Francia Raisa, whose last experience as a series regular on a spin-off was on Freeform’s Grown-ish as a college student named Ana Torres. This was years after she broke out as a high school student named Adrian Lee on The Secret Life of the American Teenager when the network was still called ABC Family. 

In 2005, Francia Raisa made her debut on FX’s Iraq War-inspired drama Over There, followed by two cheerleader comedies (straight-to-video Bring It On: All or Nothing in 2006 and 2009’s Fired Up!), two made-for-TV The Cutting Edge sequels, and guest spots on hits like CSI on CBS, Season 1 of The Mindy Project, and Netflix’s Dear White People series in a recurring role. In 2018, Raisa also co-starred with Tyra Banks in Freeform’s sequel to Life-Size - a Wonderful World of Disney installment from 2000 that originally starred Lindsay Lohan. 

Christopher Lowell (Jesse)

Playing Sophie’s friend and aspiring musician, Jesse, on How I Met Your Father is Christopher Lowell, whose first experience as a series regular on a spin-off was on Private Practice as Dell Parker - a role he originated on the medical drama’s predecessor, Grey’s Anatomy. His first TV show (and first-ever acting gig) was ABC’s teen drama Life As We Know It from 2004 to 2005 before joining the Veronica Mars cast as “Piz” in 2006.

In 2014, Christopher Lowell starred on Fox’s short-lived military comedy series Enlisted and, two years later, played Nick Nolte’s onscreen son on Epix’s political satire Graves before getting cast on Netflix’s GLOW as Bash Howard. Lowell, who made his directorial debut with the 2013 dramedy Beside Still Waters, has also appeared in several Oscar darlings - namely Up in the Air in 2009, The Help in 2011, and Promising Young Woman as the infamous Al Monroe in 2020 - and is currently filming an adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s horror-comedy novel My Best Friend’s Exorcism.

Suraj Sharma (Sid)

Playing Jesse’s roommate, Sid, on How I Met Your Father is Suraj Sharma, who made a stunning acting debut as the title hero of director Ang Lee’s Oscar-winning survival drama Life of Pi in 2012. His second film -  the biographical, Jon Hamm-led sports movie Million Dollar Arm - came out in 2014, the same year he joined Showtime’s Homeland cast as Aayan Ibrahim until 2015, which saw him the lead the international drama Umrika.

In 2016, Suraj Sharma starred in Burn Your Maps with Jacob Tremblay, followed by a few films set in his native country of India (such as the fantasy-comedy Phillauri, to name one) and American thrillers like Happy Death Day 2U from Blumhouse or Killerman with Liam Hemsworth in 2019. By then, Sharma had already been cast on ABC’s faith-based drama God Friended Me. His upcoming romantic-comedy movie Wedding Season (also starring former Schitt’s Creek cast member Rizwan Manji) is expected to come out in 2022.

Tien Tran (Ellen)

Playing Jesse’s adoptive sister, Ellen, on How I Met Your Father is Tien Tran, whose last experience starring in a spin-off (or sorts) was when she appeared on 2021’s Candyman cast in a brief role. She previously made a guest appearance on Netflix’s Easy in 2017, the same year she landed a recurring role on another web-based romantic-comedy series called Hot Date.

Tien Tran would work with Netflix again as a guest on the satirical comedy Space Force in 2020 and a guest voice actor on the animated, LGBTQ+-themed espionage adventure series Q-Force in 2021. Around that same time, she guest starred on Work in Progress - an LGBTQ+-themed Showtime original comedy she also wrote for - and on South Side for its second season after making the transition from Comedy Central to HBO Max.

Tom Ainsley (Charlie)

As Charlie, a model from England who also happens to be in love with Valentina, we have Tom Ainsley - an actor from England who debuted as a guest star on the country’s long-running, aptly-titled medical drama, Doctors, in 2014. The following year, he became better known to the American mainstream when he scored a recurring role on the E! original series The Royals as one third of an awkward love triangle for four episodes.

Also in 2015, Tom Ainsley had a recurring role on another series about royalty (this time a period piece called Versailles) before starring in a straight-to-video Jarhead sequel in 2016. The next year, he and Sarah Dumont played a husband and wife trapped in a tent with a snake in Serpent and he also led the cast of the war epic/horror movie hybrid Boots on the Ground. His most recent role before joining the How I Met Your Father cast is a romantic drama/horror movie hybrid called Safe Inside, which was released in 2019.

Kim Cattrall (Future Sophie)

The narrator of How I Met Your Mother was the late Bob Saget as the voice of Ted’s older self in the future. The narrator of How I Met Your Father as Sophie’s older self in the future is Kim Cattrall, who is best known for her five-time Emmy nominated role on the Sex and the City cast as the scene-stealing Samantha Jones, whom she reprised in two theatrically released spin-offs.

Before then, Kim Cattrall had a steady run of TV guest appearance in the late 1970s and early 1980s before achieving big screen stardom in comedies like Porky’s, the first of the many Police Academy movies, or the title role of Mannequin and fantasy thrillers like Big Trouble in Little China with Kurt Russell or Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, to name a few. In more recent years, Cattrall has reestablished herself as TV royalty on series like the quasi-anthology Tell Me a Story and Fox’s short-lived primetime soap Filthy Rich as the lead.

With an ensemble this talented, we should have no problem falling in with the How I Met Your Father cast just like we did with Ted, Robin, Barney, Marshall, and Lily. See for yourself by streaming the spin-off, which is now available to stream on Hulu.

The highly-anticipated How I Met Your Father — a sequel to the CBS hit How I Met Your Mother — is just about to drop on Hulu. Hilary Duff and Kim Cattrall star in the new sitcom, and critics have had the chance to screen a handful of episodes. How do they feel the follow-up series stands up to the original?

Kim Cattrall stars as Sophie, who is explaining to her unseen son how she met his father. Hilary Duff stars as younger Sophie, and viewers will be introduced to her friend group, which includes Chris Lowell as Jesse, Francia Raisa as Valentina, Tom Ainsley as Charlie, Tien Tran as Ellen and Suraj Sharma as Sid, who are trying to navigate young adulthood and find their places in the world. Let’s take a look at what critics are saying about How I Met Your Father. 

Gwen Ihnat of the AV Club grades the series a C-, lamenting that the sequel fails to capture the lightning in the bottle that made the original ensemble so special. However, she does note there are some nice nods to the OG series, including doppelganger gags. 

Siddhant Adlakha of IGN says with HIMYF using similar gimmicks to its predecessor — including the laugh track and multi-camera production — it’s hard to avoid comparisons to the CBS series, which is a high bar to meet. While it’s possible the long-term narrative will pay off, the first two episodes fall short. 

Caroline Framke of Variety says How I Met Your Father feels like another example of recycling nostalgia for today’s world, but it tries so hard that it doesn’t feel very modern (or very New York) at all. 

Darren Franich of EW also touches on the outdated feel of the jokes, grading the series a C-. He points out the lame unboxing joke and characters saying “FOMO” and worrying about the perfect profile pic. These reasons are part why HIMYF feels more like any number of dull sitcoms and less unique than HIMYM.

It’s not all meh or bad, though. Dave Nemetz of TV Line says the series starts to find its footing a few episodes in. Though he also notes that while HIMYM struck gold with its talented cast and sharp writing, the sequel (which he says should really be called a reboot) is lacking in the latter category.

Critics are definitely not raving about the first episodes of the new Hulu series, but it does sound like fans of the original series’ premise could get hooked by the long-term story, especially as the talented cast begins to gel. At last, Hulu has unveiled the first extended look at the upcoming spinoff comedy How I Met Your Father, with a full-length trailer that is full of cityscapes, cringe-addled first dates, people looking at their phones, and Hilary Duff in her latest TV lead role. Sounds like a winning enough combination, and this first trailer immediately sets itself apart from its How I Met Your Mother predecessor in an interesting way.

Anyone watching the trailer above will notice that it kicks off with Kim Cattrall as an older version of Sophie, the romance-seeking character played in her younger days by the aforementioned Hilary Duff. Fans already knew that Cattrall would serve as Future Sophie via voiceover narration, but the trailer seems to confirm that the Sex and the City alum will actually appear on the show in person, which was not so much the case for How I Met Your Mother. 

In the O.G. series, Full House vet Bob Saget lent his (uncredited) voice for narration duties as Ted Mosby, as portrayed by Josh Radnor throughout the show's nine seasons. In all that time, though, the series never put viewers up close and personal with Saget's version of Ted in 2030. So having Cattrall recur as the older and presumably wiser Sophie (in an unspecified "near future") is automatically a good start for making a distinction between the two projects.

The familiar hook here will see Kim Cattrall's Sophie telling her son (i.e. the audience) the complicated story about how she met the kid's father, with the new series kicking off in the year 2021. Duff's Sophie has a friend set that includes Veronica Mars vet Chris Lowell as Jesse, The Secret Life of the American Teenager's Francia Raisa as Valentina, The Royals' Tom Ainsley as Charlie, Candyman's Tien Tran as Ellen and God Friended Me's Suraj Sharma as Sid.

Fans can expect to see this squad trying to figure out what they want from life, while also navigating an ever-changing world of love and dating apps. (And uses of tissue.) As the trailer made it clear, those same fans can also expect to see recurring appearances from Josh Peck, whose Disney+ comedy Turner and Hooch was recently cancelled, and American Gods vet Ashley Reyes.

The trailer also features Sophie and date Ian, as played by David Makes Man vet Daniel Augustin. That character was originally meant to be portrayed by Sharma's God Friended Me co-star Brandon Michael Hall, who had to drop out of the new series due to scheduling conflicts.

How I Met Your Father hasn't had the easiest time getting off the ground. There have been some setbacks up to this point but, now, there’s some positive news for viewers. While the series is already tied to the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, it's now gained a new connection to another classic comedy. Much like Ted Mosby, Hilary Duff’s character will have a future self, and a Sex and the City alum will be providing the voice.

Kim Cattrall has jumped onto the upcoming Hulu series as the older version of Hilary Duff’s Sophie, according to Deadline. Much like its predecessor, viewers won’t see the star but will get to hear her gorgeous pipe, as she recounts her younger counterpart's exploits. Cattrall will follow in the footsteps of Fuller House alum Bob Saget, who voiced the future Ted Mosby to Josh Radnor's younger iteration of the character on HIMYM.

This will mark the actress' first TV role since the cancellation of her Fox drama, Filthy Rich, in 2020. Maybe the addition of the Sex and the City vet should be a step in the right direction for the series. Early on, there were some signs of uncertainty, and some may have been concerned that it would be canned like Hilary Duff's Lizzie Maguire revival. Additionally, Duff caught COVID-19 right before production started, though she thankfully recovered. Not only that but a  key cast member left, leading to a recast. So the addition of the veteran star is some well-needed, good news for the show.

How I Met Your Father should serve as a fresh start for Kim Cattrall. It's been widely publicized that her Samantha Jones won't be popping up in the Sex and the City follow-up, And Just Like That. Of course, fans are surely disappointed by this, much like Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell is. But it isn’t necessarily surprising given the history between Cattrall and her former co-stars. She even gave a suggestion about how the show could handle her beloved character in her absence. All in all, Cattrall doesn't seem to be looking back.

How I Met Your Father is sure to be an interesting experiment. The show is definitely going to have to prove itself, though some franchise veterans are happy with the idea. On the other hand, with the revival series has been developed and dropped a few times, some fans of HIMYM might be more skeptical. Still, it appears Hulu has plenty of faith in the incoming comedy.

Having someone as celebrated as Sex and the City vet Kim Cattrall could bode well for the series. Though fans may not get to actually see her on screen, one can bet she'll put everything into the vocally-charged performance. The spinoff doesn't currently have a release date, but we'll be sure to keep you posted as updates arrive.

Suffice to say, Younger was only getting older — particularly as it made its way to its seventh season on Paramount+ earlier this year. The longest-running TV Land series was an unlikely hit for the network, one that allowed Sutton Foster, Hilary Duff, Debi Mazar, and the rest of the television ensemble to shine. Now that the show has come to a close, though, what is the Younger cast doing next? Well, let's take a look and see!

Sutton Foster (Liza Miller)

As Liza Miller, a 40-year-old divorced mother trying to make her way in a competitive world and hostile work environment, Sutton Foster plays the protagonist in TV Land’s Younger. Most notably, the acclaimed actress is a two-time Tony-winning star for her Broadway performances in 2002's Thoroughly Modern Millie and 2011's Anything Goes. Additionally, Foster appeared in other notable Broadway productions, such as Little Women, Young Frankenstein, Shrek the Musical, Violet, Grease, Annie, and The Drowsy Chaperone. Recently, she reprised her role as Reno Sweeney in Barbican Theatre's Anything Goes. Next, Foster joins Hugh Jackman in Broadway's The Music Man revival.

Away from the stage, Sutton Foster had a lead role in ABC Family's Bunheads. She can also be seen in Flight of the Conchords, Sesame Street, The Good Wife, A Million Little Things, and Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Recently, Foster lent her voice to Netflix's Ridley Jones. Also, the actress appeared in Gravy and The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, as well as in short films like 2016's Mired, 2014's The Nobodies, and 2008's Just in Case.

Debi Mazar (Maggie Amato)

In the role of Maggie Amato, Liza’s lesbian best friend and roommate, Debi Mazer was certainly a spirited character in Younger. Outside of this TV Land series, Mazar is best known for her live-wire performance as Shauna Roberts in HBO’s Entourage. She also starred in Cooking Channel’s Extra Virgin and played main roles in L.A. Law, Civil Wars, Temporarily Yours, Working, and That’s Life. As a voice actress, furthermore, Mazar can be heard in MTV's Good Vibes. Her other television credits include Happy!, Power, Katy Keene, Arde Madrid, Ugly Betty, Living with Fran, The Practice, 7th Heaven, and Friends.

Most recently, Debi Mazar played a fictional version of herself in HBO Max's The Other Two. Currently, she's filming Netflix's The Pentaverate. Additionally, on the big screen, Mazar reprised her role as Shauna Roberts in 2015's Entourage. The actress can also be seen in Goodfellas, Malcolm X, The Doors, Little Man Tate, Singles, Toys, Empire Records, Batman Forever, Bullets Over Broadway, Trees Lounge, and Jungle Fever. Furthermore, Mazar has lent her voice to the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise.

Hilary Duff (Kelsey Peters)

Playing the part of Kelsey Peters, a younger book editor who befriends Liza, Hilary Duff returned to TV with this lead role in Paramount+’s Younger. Most notably, the actress is known for playing the title character in Disney Channel's Lizzie McGuire, a role that she reprised in 2003's The Lizzie McGuire Movie. She also played Olivia Blake in The CW's Gossip Girl. Duff's other television credits include Raising Hope, Two and a Half Men, Community, and George Lopez. Additionally, she starred in TV movies like Disney Channel's Cadet Kelly and ABC Family's Beauty & the Briefcase, which she produced.

Currently, Hilary Duff is filming Hulu's How I Met Your Father, which she'll also produce. Furthermore, outside of TV, the actress starred in A Cinderella Story, Raise Your Voice, The Perfect Man, and Casper Meets Wendy. Moreover, Duff appeared in Cheaper by the Dozen 1 & 2, Agent Cody Banks, War, Inc., and Bloodworth. Additionally, she produced and starred in Material Girls, According to Greta, and The Haunting of Sharon Tate.

Miriam Shor (Diana Trout)

As Diana Trout, Liza’s volatile boss, Miriam Shor plays a tough woman to please in Younger, where she also directed. Most notably, the actress is best known for playing Yitzhak in both the stage and screen versions of Hedwig and the Angry Itch. Shor's other film credits include Shortbus, The Cake Eaters, The Midnight Sky, 5 Flights Up, Lost Girls, Pizza, and Before/During/After. Additionally, on the stage, she starred in productions of Merrily We Go Along, The Wild Party, and Almost, Maine, to name a few.

Furthermore, on television, Miriam Shor was acclaimed for her performance as Erica Haskard in FX's The Americans. Moreover, the actress starred in a number of short-lived series, including Then Came You, Inside Schwartz, Big Day, Swingtown, and GCB. Also, Shor appeared in HBO's Mildred Pierce and CBS's The Good Wife. Her other TV credits include The West Wing, My Name Is Earl, Broad City, and High Maintenance. Last year, she guest-starred on Hulu's Mrs. America. Next, Shor appears in Magic Hour.

Nico Tortorella (Josh)

In the role of Josh, a 26-year-old tattoo artist, Nico Tortorella plays a prominent part (even though we never learned Josh's last name) in TV Land’s Younger. Currently, the actor stars in AMC’s spin-off series, The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Also, Tortorella starred in The CW’s short-lived The Beautiful Life and the first season of Fox's The Following. They also had a recurring role in ABC Family’s Make It or Break It, hosted MTV's How Far Is Tattoo Far?, and starred in Lifetime's Menendez: Blood Brothers.

Additionally, away from the tube, Nico Tortorella played Trevor Sheldon in Scream 4. Their other film credits include Twelve, Trespass, Odd Thomas, Hunter&Game, and Fluidity. The actor was also seen in Forklift Comedy's "Valentine For One" music video.

Molly Bernard (Lauren Heller)

Playing the part of Lauren Heller, Kelsey’s quirky and spirited friend, Molly Bernard became a memorable supporting character over the course of Younger’s seven-season run. Currently, the television actress has a recurring role as Elsa Curry in NBC’s Chicago Med. Prior to that, Bernard also recurred in Amazon Prime’s Transparent and Alpha House. Additionally, she can be seen in Royal Pains, Blindspot, and High Maintenance.

Furthermore, Molly Bernard appeared in Sully, The Intern, Otherhood, Pay It Forward, and Milkwater, which she also produced. Moreover, she starred in 2006’s short film, Wrestling with the Past. Next, Bernard will soon be seen in Master and Lone Star Bull.

Peter Hermann (Charles Brooks)

As Charles Brooks, the head and heir of Empirical Press, Peter Hermann loomed large throughout Younger’s television and streaming run. Following a recurring role in Season 1, the TV actor became a main player throughout the show's remaining seasons. Away from this series, Hermann has recurring roles as Trevor Langan in NBC’s Law & Order: SVU and as Jack Boyle on CBS’s Blue Bloods. He also played Dr. Michael Burke in CBS's Guiding Light. Additionally, Hermann can be seen in A Gifted Man, Beautiful People, Cashmere Mafia, Angela's Eyes, and Get Real. Furthermore, the actor guest-starred in Law & Order, White Collar, The Good Wife, Curb Your Enthusiasm, 30 Rock, and Fringe.

Away from TV, Peter Hermann played Jeremy Glick in United 93. His other movie credits include Swimfan, Edge of Darkness, Trouble with the Curve, Philomena, Just Wright, Too Big to Fail, Chinese Puzzle, All is Bright, and Our Idiot Brother. Currently, Hermann is filming 13: The Musical. He also produced the 2021 documentary, My Beautiful Stutter.

Charles Michael Davis (Zane Anders)

In the role of Zane Anders, a competitive editor at Rivington, Charles Michael Davis was a notable character on Younger, particularly during the show’s midsection. Previously, the actor played Marcel Gerard in The CW’s The Originals, where he also directed. Currently, Davis stars in CBS’s NCIS: New Orleans. Additionally, he was in the main cast of ABC’s short-lived For The People. Moreover, Davis provided recurring roles in The Game, Switched at Birth, and Chicago P.D. and starred in and produced Ur in Analysis. His other TV credits include That’s So Raven, The Client List, The Vampire Diaries, and Z Nation. Also, outside of acting, Davis was an associate producer for The Life Genie.

Away from TV, Charles Michael Davis appeared in Battle Scars, i.e. Another Stateside. He's also seen in a pair of short films, 2013’s The Proposal and 2014’s The Learning Curve. Furthermore, Davis starred in the web series, Sideswiped, and the music videos for J. Ralph’s “Mi Ricordo” and Kygo/Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to Do With It?”

Phoebe Dynevor (Chloe)

Playing the part of Chloe, Josh's Irish girlfriend, Phoebe Dynevor had a pre-fame part in Paramount+'s Younger. Most notably, the actress came into fame with her starring role as Daphne Bridgerton in Netflix's Bridgerton. Additionally, Dynevor starred in Crackle's Snatch and she was also a series regular on BBC One/BBC Three's Waterloo Road. Furthermore, the television actress had recurring roles in Prisoners' Wives, The Village, and Dickensian. Also, Dynevor previously guest-starred in Monroe and The Musketeers.

Currently, Phoebe Dynevor is filming AMC's U.K. remake of Call My Agent! She will also produce and star in Exciting Times. Moreover, away from television, Dynevor will make her feature film debut in the starring role of The Colour Room. Additionally, the actress will appear in I Heart Murder.

Hulu’s upcoming How I Met Your Mother spinoff, called How I Met Your Father, is getting a big casting change, and leading lady Hilary Duff has shared a look behind-the-scenes as the series begins shooting. God Friended Me’s Brandon Micheal Hall is officially out of the series, and will be replaced by Daniel Augustin from David Makes Man.

According to TV Insider, Brandon Micheal Hall had to exit due to scheduling conflicts. Daniel Augustin is now set to play Hilary Duff’s Tinder match Ian, who is handsome, smart and funny. Since the show is in the very early stages of filming, hopefully not much had to be rearranged for the sake of production. It is a shame that Hall didn’t even get a chance to be in How I Met Your Father. Hopefully if his scheduling allows him, perhaps he could make an appearance as a recurring character. And Augustin could be a great replacement.

Meanwhile in the midst of the casting switch, Hilary Duff, fresh off her experience with COVID-19, took to Instagram to share a look at filming as it finally starts. She officially introduces fans to her character, Sophie, who is sitting at a bar that will likely be her and her friend’s hangout spot, much like how McGee’s Pub was the spot in How I Met Your Mother. The Younger actress isn’t the only one posting first day pictures. The official HIMYF account on Instagram made sure to tell followers that filming has begun, and shared plenty of behind-the-scenes photos. The spinoff will take place in the near future, as Hilary Duff’s Sophie retells the story of how she met her kids’ father in 2021. Besides Duff and Daniel Augustin, the cast includes Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Suraj Sharma, Tien Tran and Tom Ainsley.

A few weeks ago, Hilary Duff shared a behind-the-scene picture of her and her co-stars holding up scripts, but didn't reveal any of the actual sets featured in her newest post. Not too long after, Duff was revealed to have tested positive for COVID-19, which explains why they are just now finally starting to film. Since she is the lead, it would presumably be difficult to film around her, especially at the beginning of a series.

Fans of How I Met Your Mother may have been nervous about this new spinoff, considering this isn’t the first time one has been attempted. But with a cast as strong as this one, it looks like How I Met Your Father could become a hit. Since it is reportedly taking place in the same universe as HIMYM, perhaps we can expect appearances from OG characters. While some of the cast have spoken out about a spinoff or reboot, others are not so fond of the idea, so it’s hard to tell. Though it looks like the new cast is doing just fine on their own.
