Celebrity couples have a way of capturing the public's attention, from Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Another famous pair that have been making headlines and turning heads is Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi. News of their coupling broke the internet, but folks are also curious about where the Oscar-nominated actor stands with Kendall's famous family. And a report makes a claim about whether or not we should expect him to pop up on The Kardashians (which is streaming with a Hulu subscription).

While Kylie Jenner's relationship with Timothée Chalamet continues to make headlines, her sister Kendall has been attached to Elordi since early in 2026. An alleged insider spoke to People, claiming that they're continuing to date, but haven't made some big steps. In their words:

If this report is to be believed, it sounds like Jenner and Elordi are using some healthy boundaries, and the Euphoria star isn't being thrown into the family dynamic right away. Instead they're continuing to get closer, while guarding their privacy. But given how close the Kardahians are, it seems inevitable that he'll eventually spend time with the family if he keeps dating Kendall.

The same alleged insider who is close to Jenner and Elordi offered another quote about the Frankenstein actor's relationship with the reality TV star. They claim:

For years fans have watched as various Kardashians brought their love interests into the family... usually while it's televised on The Kardashians or Keeping Up. But Kendall has always been the most chill of the sisters, so perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that she allegedly hasn't brought Jacob Elordi around the family just yet. Of course, this is assuming the insider who is quoted above is legit.

Both Kendall and Kylie dating Oscar-nominated Hollywood A-listers is interesting timing, and smart money says that it'll keep the public invested in whatever is going on in their personal lives. Whether they break up or get more serious, it's likely going to make headlines. And if Jacob Elordi ends up meeting (or even being photographed with) the Kardashian clan, smart money says it's going to break the internet. We'll just have to see if/when this happens.

Aside from their alleged relationship, Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi continue having thriving careers. The latter is coming off his role in the final season of Euphoria, as well as his Oscar nod for Frankenstein. So the sky's the limit for the 29 year-old A-lister, as well as Kendall's ongoing career as a reality TV personality and model. Talk about a power couple.

There are major film franchises, and then there's the James Bond movies. Starting with 1962's Dr. No, generations have watched 007's adventures, most recently Daniel Craig's Bond movies. Since No Time to Die's ending killed off the MI6 agent, fans are curious about what actor might take on the mantle next. And a former casting director revealed why she doesn't want to see Jacob Elordi or any of the other rumored stars in that coveted role.

The James Bond franchise has been going through some changes, especially with Amazon MGM Studios getting the rights to the next movies. Folks have been betting on who might be the next 007 for years, with Jacob Elordi being one of a number of popular choices. But former Bond casting agent Debbie McWilliams spoke to The Independent and said "I don’t want to see any of them as James Bond." She further expanded her thoughts by offering:

There is some precedence for this line of thinking. While actors like Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan had worked prior to becoming 007, they weren't household names in the way that actors like Jacob Elordi are thanks to his work on Euphoria (streaming with a HBO Max subscription). The same can also be said for Daniel Craig, who wasn't nearly as famous prior to debuting in Casino Royale. Later in the same interview, McWilliams went on to share why she thinks this is an important distinction, saying:

While this is a tried and true method for 007 casting (Debbie McWilliams cast the last three actors), I'm not sure I agree that this method is essential nowadays. Because while new talents might be relative unknowns in their first Bond movie, whoever takes on James' martini and PPK is instantly catapulted into mega fame. And in doing so, they're not longer the mysterious "enigma" that she'd like. Maybe now is the time for the strategy to be shaken and stirred up.

The early reports about the next Bond casting claimed that the studio was looking for a younger actor to replace Daniel Craig, given how physically grueling the role can be. Jacob Elordi is 29, so he seems appropriate. And with an impressive resume and recent Oscar nomination, why not bring this hot star into the fold? The franchise is already having a change of ownership, so why not change its casting strategy? Of course, Elordi is only one of many names being tossed around online.

We'll just have to wait for official news about Bond 26's casting, and who ends up being the next actor to be the beloved MI6 agent. Hopefully some news about Denis Villeneuve's developing blockbuster arrives soon, even if its not going to be on the 2026 movie release list.

On the heels of two historical epics — 2023’s Napoleon and 2024’s Gladiator II — Ridley Scott is making a welcome return to the sci-fi genre with The Dog Stars, with Oscar nominee Jacob Elordi as its lead alongside Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley. The first full-length trailer has arrived, as seen above, and while I’m not sure this new action movie will be the one to give Scott his Oscar dues, it does look exciting as all hell.

And yeah, a big chunk of my excitement stems from the brief, mysterious, and arguably fetching shots of Oscar and Emmy winner Allison Janney in there. But we’ll get to her shortly.

The Dog Stars' Post-Apocalypse Looks Peaceful Until It Doesn't

Ridley Scott is taking viewers into a far different near future than the settings of his most classic science-fiction films. (Namely Alien and Blade Runner, but we can throw in The Martian and one other of the reader's choice.) Those familiar with the book-to-screen film's source material, Peter Heller's 2012 novel of the same name, are in the loop on the global pandemic that largely wiped out the population. Early on in the trailer, life appears tough but almost strangely idyllic, in a "Back in the good ol' days" kind of way.

As Hig, Elordi is a former pilot making a go at survival with Bangley (Brolin), an ex-Marine with an edge, and Cima (Qualley), a medic with an eye (and heart) for Hig. Unfortunately, it isn't long before the peaceful facade is revealed to be just that, and the bonkers-looking threats are revealed.

The Dog Stars appears to be the first 2026 movie release to go all-in on using night-vision as a visual aesthetic, which seems like a brilliant plan to play into the bizarre looks of the more feral survivors that seem to be overtaking any area they go running into. It seems like they're all still maintaining human traits, though, and haven't gone all Rage virus-zombie. But in those shots, they also look like members of a trippy Toxic Avenger tribute band, so who knows?

Whatever the case, as soon as the trailer gets intense, Jacob Elordi lights it up in what could very well be the role that sends him into a more action-heavy career path. It's a character that Brolin would have been great for had this been made 20 years ago, and Elordi fills the space quite convincingly. His performances in historical dramas and romances don't exactly scream "bad-ss," but it's a good look, and it can only help his Bond chances, if those rumors are to be believed.

Whatever Is Up With Allison Janney's Character, I'm All For It

The fourth-billed star of The Dog Stars, Allison Janney only appears fleetingly - still more so than Guy Pearce and Benedict Wong - but those quick shots are enough to spark some obsessive feelings. Totally normal ones, though! Well, mostly.

I mean, she instantly stands apart from other characters, in that she's basically in head-to-toe Pan Am flight attendant cosplay, while everyone else is dressed in the usual drab looks that accompany apocalypses. She's also tending bar, which feels like it has to be a major luxury in a world so broken. In large part because there's electricity there, as opposed to other settings shown in the trailer. Speaking of...

Okay, so Janney's unnamed character has both booze AND cigarettes, so she must be royalty or something. And bar lights are certainly not the extent of her electricity usage. As seen above, she apparently has access to security camera footage, presumably to make sure none of the wild shirtless people come trying to take her stuff. But how does she have all of this, while everyone else is slumming it?

That's the part I'm really obsessing over, and definitely not Janney in that blue get-up with a martini glass in her hand. Definitely not that. Now somebody open a window in here or something.

The Dog Stars is set to release in theaters on August 28, 2026.

Fans went crazy last week when Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton finally went Instagram official, but the SKIMS boss isn’t the only member of her family to be making headlines over a hot, new relationship. Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi were reportedly hooked up by her younger sister, Kylie, earlier this year, and while the Wuthering Heights star fits in well with Kendall’s close-knit friend group, a source alleges that Kendall has “refused” to introduce him to momager Kris Jenner.

Introducing a partner to your parents is typically a big step in one’s relationship, but since Kris Jenner’s job is literally to be in her children’s business, the stakes may be even higher. Still, an alleged source for In Touch claims Kendall has a good reason for keeping Jacob Elordi away from her momager for now, saying:

Kendall Jenner famously does not allow her love life to be featured on The Kardashians (streaming with a Hulu subscription). It’s a rule she’s maintained even since Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and it’s one that her family has respected.

However, Kris Jenner is allegedly under massive pressure to boost ratings, and as an executive producer, she theoretically would have the power to at least talk about Kendall’s relationship if she wanted to. Kendall is also an EP, as are all of her sisters, but I’d have to imagine final say goes through Kris.

The supposed insider said it’s become such an issue that Kendall Jenner is allegedly threatening to leave the show altogether. They said:

Now, I have to push back a little here, because I’ve seen all seven seasons of The Kardashians, and I’m pretty sure Timothée Chalamet has not been mentioned by name or even directly alluded to on the show. Khloé Kardashian did, one time, talk about Kylie Jenner being courtside at NBA games — which she, of course, attended with the Marty Supreme star — but I think that’s about the whole of it.

Also, for what it’s worth, Jacob Elordi is also an Academy Award nominee. The source goes on to say that Kendall Jenner is making some serious threats should Kris get to meddling in her relationship. According to the insider:

While we have to take this report with a huge grain of salt, Kris Jenner has been accused of "hovering" around her daughters’ relationships. I can also see how, at 30 years old, Kendall would not want her mother to be a third party in her romance.

For now, though, after a romantic Hawaiian getaway, Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi seem to enjoying each other’s company — regardless of how much her mother is or isn’t involved.

Jacob Elordi is having quite the year, following up his Oscar-nominated performance in Frankenstein with another hit movie, concluding his run on Euphoria with a “heavy” Nate Jacobs-centered episode, and those Bond 26 rumors. Oh, and there’s the matter of his new romance with Kendall Jenner. So what’s going on with those two, and how does he get along with Jenner’s friends and family?

Things seem to be heating up between Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi, sources suggest, and getting the approval of the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner family — not to mention Kendall’s friends — is a big part of that. An insider tells Page Six:

It makes sense that Kylie Jenner gives her stamp of approval to her sister’s new relationship, since she apparently made quite the “alpha sister” move to get the two together. Kylie allegedly crossed paths with Jacob Elordi during awards season, when she accompanied her partner of three years Timothée Chalamet to the ceremonies. It was there that she apparently set up double-dates for the four of them.

Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi were allegedly seen at dinner in Montecito recently with Justin and Hailey Bieber and other friends, which came after a night out with Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet on May 16. According to the alleged insider:

Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi have even vacationed together, as paparazzi snapped photos of the two spending some alone time together on the beach in Hawaii, sharing a bottle of wine.

This romance has apparently been going on for quite a few months now, but Kendell Jenner was reportedly “hesitant” about striking up a relationship because they’ve been friends for quite a while. However, knowing how important it is for her partner to get along with her inner circle, it doesn’t sound like the worst idea for Kendall to date people from within that group, right?

It certainly seems to be working out for them so far — just watch out for that Kardashian curse, Jacob!

Kendall Jenner always keeps her relationships private, so I’m not expecting any kind of hard launch anytime soon, but if you want to see more of Jacob Elordi, the Euphoria Season 3 is streaming with an HBO Max subscription after its finale aired May 31, with fans split over its controversial ending.

The long-delayed third season of Euphoria has been airing on the 2026 TV schedule, and keeping fans on the edge of their seats each week. The time jump has not been kind to the characters, and some drama came to a head in the penultimate episode that aired last week. The Jacob Elordi-heavy episode brought a twisted death, and a star told CinemaBlend what it was like watching it happen.

Throughout the third season, Elordi’s Nate Jacobs owed a lot of money to unsavory characters. With Jacobs Construction basically going under with Nate at the helm, he’d been a bit desperate, and he upset the wrong people upset finance-wise. Nate lost some appendages and, unfortunately, lost his life in last week’s episode, “Rain or Shine.”

Jack Topalian, who plays shady businessman Naz, spoke to CB about working with Elordi during all those torturous scenes. And, as one might imagine, the pair's dynamic was quite different off camera:

As a fan, it was hard for me to watch the scenes with Nate getting beaten and tortured (regardless of how terrible of a character he is). Between getting beat up, getting his toe and fingers cut off, and then being killed by a snake while being buried alive, he really went through it. And a lot of that was Naz’s doing. Considering the darkness of the content, it's great to know Elordi and Topalian got along off screen and were trying to have as much fun as they could. Topalian also added this:

It goes without saying that Euphoria is a pretty heavy show and can be quite brutal in one way or another. The penultimate episode is something else, though, and I wonder if the finale will top it in terms of shock factor. What I'm also wondering is if Nate’s death will have some impact in the immediate future, particularly on his wife, Cassie. Naz may be dead (thanks to Alamo's intervention), but there could still be some ramifications there.

Like Nate, Cassie has also been through the wringer in a few ways this season. It's been on a wild ride for, especially in regard to her trying to pay off Nate’s giant debt by going into OnlyFans before landing a TV show role. Reception to that arc hasn't been all that positive, though. Fans called a recent episode a “humiliation ritual,” and the storyline has been slammed by actual OnlyFans models. Of course, everything is seemingly set to come to a head in the finale.

It'll be hard not to think about Nate as the finale plays out but, at the very least, his problems are over now (albeit in a tragic way). Still, it was fortunate for Jacob Elordi that, on set, his experience with Jake Topalian was positive.

If there’s one ingredient that Wuthering Heights absolutely needed to work, it was two movie stars who could make us hang on every word they spoke to each other as Cathy and Heathcliff. Emerald Fennell’s movie definitely lucked out with Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, but they knew what they needed to have, too. Robbie said she wanted “insane chemistry,” and there was a clear moment when she realized she had it with her co-star. Funny enough, that scene isn’t actually in the movie.

After Wuthering Heights became one of the biggest 2026 movie releases and available to watch on streaming, it’s interesting to know more about the behind-the-scenes of it all. In an interview with Refinery29, Robbie said there was one scene when she and Elordi knew they “got it” as an on-screen couple:

What a wild, fun fact! I would think they’d want the moment the Wuthering Heights co-stars really clicked on set to be kept in the movie, but then again, part of what makes this film good is all the yearning. As Robbie explained:

Oh, but now I want to see this scene! I could totally see these two characters getting too close for comfort while in their shared home without even realizing it, since they grew up together, and then kind of pulling back in more public-facing moments. That being said, I totally trust that if that wasn’t the right move for those characters, it wasn’t right for the movie either. What a good feeling that must have been, though.

When CinemaBlend had the chance to speak to writer/director Fennell, we asked her why it takes so long for the pair to kiss, and she said it was important that she make it “frustrating” for the audience to see these two share scenes but not get intimate yet because “the wait is the fun.” And during our chat with Robbie and Elordi, they told us they think Heathcliff and Cathy fell in love in their very first scene together when they were kids

While it’s easy as an audience member to yell at the TV screen, “just kiss!” in the context of the story – which isn’t really supposed to be an epic romance – they are from two different class systems, and it was considered wrong for them to decide to be a couple or fraternize before marriage. Ultimately, while we yearn for these two, they have an incredibly tragic story. But it’s entertaining nonetheless!

Generations have watched 007's adventures throughout the years, and seen how Amazon-MGM required the rights to the next chapter. For years fans have been wondering what actor would replace Daniel Craig as Bond, and Euphoria star Jacob Elordi recently got the thumbs up from one of his Saltburn co-stars. Since they've got experience in the franchise, the comment holds extra weight.

No Time to Die's ending saw James die, so the pressure is on for whoever is going to follow Daniel Craig's movies. Plenty of names have been tossed around online, including Elordi... who is actually Austalian and not English. During an interview with GQ, former Bond girl (and Saltburn star) Rosamund Pike addressed Elordi playing the MI6 agent, offering:

On top of looking great in a tux, Elordi has a hulking physicality that I think would lend itself well to the role of James Bond. At 6'5, he would be the tallest 007 actor, which would likely making him physically imposing on the screen. And since Pike famously starred as Miranda Frost in Die Another Day (which is streaming with a Peacock subscription) her opinion carries extra weight.

If Jacob Elordi actually ended up being cast as James Bond, it would jive well with reports that the studio is looking for a young actor to take on the role. At the time of writing this story, the Euphoria star is only 28 years old, and presumably could handle the physical toll of playing the beloved character. Although the fact that he's actually Australian IRL might work against him.

Personally, I'd love to see Jacob Elordi in Bond's signature tux. His starpower has been steadily growing for years now, including his recent Oscar-nominated performance in Frankenstein. And with his time on Euphoria coming to an end, the actor's schedule might be open enough to take on such a giant, years-long role. He's a wildly talented performer, but hasn't done a ton of action-heavy roles just yet. Besides, what actor wouldn't want to take on the role of James Bond?

Of course, there's been no indication that the studio is actually circling the Wuthering Heights actor about playing 007. But I maintain he'd be great, and so does Rosamund Pike. What we know about Bond 26 is extremely limited, and finding the right James Bond seems like a top priority. We'll just have to wait and see how lands the role, and if any of the fan ideas end up coming to fruition.

It's currently unclear when the 26th James Bond movie will hit theaters, so we'll have to wait for updates from Amazon-MGM. It's not on the 2026 movie release list, so fans will have to try and be patient.

There seems to be a new celebrity couple on the scene, and it’s none other than Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi. Earlier this year, the two stars became romantically linked and, since then, a number of interested parties have apparently been keeping tabs on them. More recently, the two stars made headlines when they traveled to Hawaii together. Now, an insider is dropping claims in regard to where Elordi (28) and Jenner (30) stand following that excursion. And, if this person is to be believed, this trip is a major turning point.

Jenner and Elordi reportedly visited the Aloha State earlier this month and, during that time, paparazzi snapped some photos of them relaxing alone at a beach. Aside from sharing those pictures, Page Six also spoke with a source following the trip. The unnamed person alleged that the vacation brought the A-listers even closer together. Jenner is reportedly even having some strong feelings about the Frankenstein star, as the insider claimed:

This Elordi/Jenner relationship is purportedly due in great part to the efforts of Kendall’s sister, Kylie Jenner. For over three years now, Kylie has been dating Timothée Chalamet and, as a result, she’s been a fixture at awards shows. During this past awards season, Kylie was in Elordi’s orbit, and she allegedly took the initiative to link him up with Kendall. Thanks to that reported “alpha” sister move, Kendall now apparently finds herself in a relationship she’s pleased with:

Kendall Jenner has dated a few celebrities over the years, with one of the most notable being Harry Styles. Jenner and Styles reportedly dated off and on between 2013 and 2016 before officially calling it quits. By 2020, the model and media personality began dating NBA player Devin Booker, and that relationship allegedly lasted through 2022. By 2023, Jenner was rumored to be dating Bad Bunny, and that was later confirmed. Ultimately, Jenner and the Puerto Rican rapper went their separate ways in 2024.

When it came to Jacob Elordi, Jenner was allegedly “hesitant” to strike up a relationship with him. Those alleged concerns purportedly stemmed from Jenner and Elordi having known each other for a while prior to becoming an item, and Jenner reportedly didn’t want to hurt their friendship. Still, based on what’s been said as of late, the two seem to be doing just fine and, per a report from TMZ, the couple just enjoyed a lovely dinner together in Montecito over last weekend.

Those who are digging this budding relationship between Elordi and Jenner are just going to have to wait and see how it all pans out. In the meantime, fans can see Jenner alongside her relatives on The Kardashians, as all seven seasons are available to stream with a Hulu subscription.

Euphoria Season 3 just said goodbye to one of its most complex characters. Yes, Jacob Elordi's Nate Jacobs was finally killed off, and it happened in a brutal way. As the fans debate about the twisted way he met his end, creator Sam Levinson shared why he saved the most brutal and controversial death of the series for Nate.

Up to this point, Nate had lost a toe and finger in the episodes that aired thus far. Ultimately, Nate's captors finally grew tired of waiting for Cassie to bring them money back. So he was buried alive in a coffin, and Cassie was given a 72-hour deadline to raise the money.

With little option to raise cash, Cassie went to Maddy, who then went to Alamo and finally managed to get to Nate and get him from his grave. Unfortunately, a rattlesnake had crawled in through the vent used to pump air into the coffin. Unfortunately Nate was bitten by the snake and killed before they arrived to save him. If audience members felt weird about that development, Levinson told Esquire that was the point:

Nate Jacobs has done plenty throughout Euphoria to deserve a terrible end, but Season 3 has seen him as more of a shell of his former self. The confidence and "big man on campus" vibe were gone and, in his desperation to get that vibe back, he went into business with the wrong person. Naz was not to be messed with, and Nate didn't get the pass with him that he seemed to get with other characters throughout the series.

While the death itself wasn't gory or on par with what you'd see in the best horror movies, or even Ashtray's death in Season 2, it felt like Nate got an exit that was a bit excessive for what he did. Levinson also shared the following:

What made the death even more brutal is what it cost Maddy and Cassie to attempt to save Nate. They're now both caught up with Alamo, seemingly not paying mind to Rue's warning that he's not anyone they'd want to be in business with. So we head into the Euphoria Season 3 finale with the possibility that they'll be tied to Alamo indefinitely, and that even Maddie may go from business partner to just another one of his "women."

As for the behind-the-scenes details of the death scene, Sam Levinson revealed that Jacob Elordi had a real rattlesnake in the coffin with him. It was non-venomous, of course, as I doubt the Euphoria creator wanted to be responsible for harming the rumored next James Bond.

As for my thoughts on the death of Nate Jacobs, I almost felt bad for him, until I remembered how awful he was in the first two seasons of Euphoria. In some ways, being mourned by the two women who loved him in the end is almost too good a death for him, but rest in peace all the same.

Euphoria will air its finale on HBO on Sunday, May 31st at 9:00 p.m. ET amid the 2026 TV schedule. We'll see if Nate's death has any more impact on the end of the series, and how the rest of the series ends for Rue and other characters.

Wuthering Heights is one of those 2026 movie releases we’re still thinking about months after it came out, especially now that it recently hit streaming (you can watch it with an HBO Max subscription). While audiences who watched the movie without reading Emily Brontë’s classic might not have known this going in, the story is more of a tragedy than a romance, but there is certainly love between Cathy and Heathcliff to talk about. SPOILERS AHEAD.

When CinemaBlend interviewed the cast of Wuthering Heights, we asked Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi about the moment they thought they each fell for the other, and their thoughts totally make sense to me. Here’s what Elordi had to say:

Heathcliff and Cathy meet when they are children after Cathy’s father rescues Heathcliff from the streets. While Elordi thinks it’s love at first sight for Heathcliff, here’s what Margot Robbie said:

The actors have the same idea about when the characters get heart eyes for the other, which is the moment they each met underneath a bed. You can check out their comments below:

Their thoughts on when their characters develop feelings for each other definitely add a new layer to Wuthering Heights for me, because it means that these characters were always fighting their urges to be more than siblings/friends since they met. Knowing this only makes their yearning for the other feel more intense and perhaps gives more context as to why their romance becomes so explosive and messy once they do admit their feelings for each other.

It makes me think about Heathcliff and his growing disdain for Cathy as the movie goes on. He loves her and wants to be with her and must have felt her mutual feelings, but he’s rejected and becomes vengeful of her. It also doesn’t help that they were inseparable as kids, because it only makes it more difficult for the pair to not be together.

Ultimately, Cathy dies before they can ever really be a couple. While she doesn’t get to say her last words to Heathcliff, Robbie told us she thinks they would be “I hate you,” which she said “always means ‘I love you.’” Writer/director Emerald Fennell shared with CinemaBlend that she imagines Heathcliff would be “emotionally destroyed” after the end of the movie and live a “kind of half-life” without Cathy. Heartbreaking, isn’t it?

Wuthering Heights may be a love it/hate it type of movie considering all its polarizing opinions, but no matter what you think about it, one thing is pretty undeniable. It’s got style, and it’s got vision. After having a blast watching it in a theater packed with women earlier this year, I revisited it on streaming with an HBO Max subscription, and one thing I noticed even more this time is how Cathy’s fits stay true to one color palette the whole time, and I think it’s worth diving into.

Of course, I couldn’t take my eyes off of all of Cathy’s clothes going full bodice core during both viewings, but this time all the coordination was impossible to look away from. These are just a few examples below:

So, what’s up with these particular colors? While I would have theorized it would have something to do with red being the shade associated with passion and desire, when CinemaBlend spoke to writer/director Emerald Fennell, she had some interesting thoughts about why she dressed Margot Robbie in the same palette throughout. In her words:

Now this is interesting. Cathy needed to “burn” through every moment on screen. During the filmmaker’s chat with us, she also spoke about how the expression of a character’s personality through something like clothing is very specific to Gothic cinema. The genre often evokes intensity that we wouldn’t see in other movies, so the lavish use of red is all part of it. You can check out her full thoughts below:

As she says, it’s not just about the costumes. It was also through the textures she decided to use throughout the sets. I know I’ll never forget this movie’s skin wall, which was actually fashioned out of actual scans of Robbie’s own skin to represent what it feels like for Cathy to be a “collector’s item” to her husband once she gets married.

Fennell’s explanation of the Gothic genre also helps make sense of some of the objects in the movie being exaggerated sizes or how long we have to wait for Cathy and Heathcliff to kiss. Everything is more dramatic and hyperbolic than you’d expect from other movies.

I don’t know about you, but I really appreciate Emerald Fennell’s eye for making her films very distinct, and Wuthering Heights knocks it out of the park in that respect.

Now that Wuthering Heights is streaming, there’s something I was wondering about: Just how long does it take for Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi’s characters to kiss? It takes an hour and 23 minutes in a movie that is just over two hours, and that feels like a very long time. But that was “of course” intentional by writer/director Emerald Fennell.

It’s called “yearning,” honey, and Wuthering Heights has all the ingredients to get audiences all hot and bothered about Cathy and Heathcliff’s slow burn romance-turned-tragedy. When CinemaBlend spoke to Fennell about making us wait so long to see these two smooch, here’s what she said:

While it’s easy to yell at the screen, “just kiss already!” it’s not that simple for these characters who are living in 18th century England, which was a time when their love story defies what’s appropriate for the two of them in society. As Fennell added in our interview:

If these two just kissed and had a happily ever after from the jump, it wouldn’t be quite as entertaining and as enjoyably “frustrating” as it is. I know when I watched this initially with a packed theater full of women, it felt like everyone was on the edge of their seats over Cathy and Heathcliff’s “will they/won’t they” storyline.

The Wuthering Heights movie is based on Emily Brontë's book of the same name, though Emerald Fennell decided to take some creative liberties with the material, which led to some polarizing opinions from viewers. (You can check out our own Wuthering Heights review yourself.)

Cathy and Heathcliff grew up together in the same estate in the Yorkshire Moors, but Heathcliff was picked up off the streets. While they have an undeniable chemistry with one another and Heathcliff makes his attraction to her known, Cathy denies him, and he runs away.

Complications grow when Cathy meets a new arrival to her neighborhood, a wealthy textile merchant named Edgar, and she earns his affections. I don’t know about you, but I can’t stop thinking about the ending of Wuthering Heights, and in our interview with Robbie, she gave us insights into what she thinks her last words to Heathcliff would’ve been.

When Emerald Fennell was making Wuthering Heights, she cited wanting to make it this generation’s Titanic – even though she ultimately told us she chose to make it R-rated because she wanted to make that movie that “feels right” and not worry much about the MPA rating. It turns out, part of making that happen involved forcing us to wait a while for the two main characters to kiss.

It’s hard to stop talking about the latest episode of Euphoria because there’s just so much to cover about from episode three alone! From Cassie and Nate’s messy ceremony full of wardrobe malfunctions, to its tribute to Angus Cloud, the return of Eric Dane’s character or that viral Sydney Sweeney fart video?! Too, too much. But what about the wedding itself, how did production pull it off, and did it reach that $50k on flowers ultimatum Cassie said she wanted in the show?

Euphoria’s production designer François Audouy just spilled the details! Apparently, the HBO show really did go all out on the wedding. Here’s what’s going on with the flowers per Audouy's comments to The Wrap:

There were so many florals on that set that their vendor cleaned out all the local farms in Southern California and “multiple countries” with the particular florals they needed. Flowers were even flown in from Miami, Ecuador and Amsterdam to complete the vision. The production designer claims they bought out the entire L.A. floral market within their color palette. Sorry might be in order for any weddings like it happening in the immediate area!

For the production designer, it all started with nailing the color scheme which ended up being a lot of blushes, pinks and creams. Audouy said he actually “color sampled shrimp” because he thought the color would fit perfectly within the show’s vision of an “over the top” wedding. As he also shared:

The flowers in Nate and Cassie’s wedding ceremony amounted to over 10k stems including 2.8k roses but wait there’s more! That number doesn’t even get into the reception which had 14.8 stems including 4.6k roses. And the florals was just one aspect of the ridiculous wedding.

The production team also commissioned 10 sculptures of the Euphoria couple, 10 for the shrimp buffet and 10 ice luges as well. As far as the inspiration, he looked a lot at social media to get into the mindset of Cassie. In his words:

Filming the actual wedding episode was shot across nine days. Creator Sam Levinson called shooting the episode “a blast” but also quite “complicated” to get done considering how many cast members were at set all at once. Euphoria really went all out, and we’re so curious what’s coming next as the season continues to air on Sundays on the 2026 TV schedule.

After public Coachella flirting, rumors around Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi have run rampant. The two were seen showing some PDA at the music festival last weekend, and now it seems like the flirtation has been going on for a while now. Allegedly, the two have been talking for months, but Jenner was initially hesitant to start anything with the Euphoria star, and inside sources reportedly have the scoop.

Apparently, Jenner and Elordi are seeing each other romantically, according to an insider who spoke to Page Six. The source claimed the relationship between the two started as a casual friendship, as the duo had been circling each other socially for years. However, Jenner was hesitant to start anything with Elordi because of the friendship, despite Kylie Jenner reportedly trying to set them up. The source told the publication:

This is far from the first public relationship for either party. Elordi was in an on-again, off-again relationship with social media influencer Olivia Jade Giannulli for years, and he has rumored past romances with Joey King and Zendaya. Kendall Jenner famously dated basketball star Devin Booker, as well as Bad Bunny and Harry Styles. While they both are no stranger to a high profile fling, the source claimed they were keeping things under wraps, at least for the time being:

Despite the obstacles, like wanting privacy and an enduring friendship with the Wuthering Heights star, Jenner has seemingly changed her mind over the last two months, and a romance is reportedly brewing. However, they are both trying to lower the stakes of the connection, as the source claimed things are still pretty low-key:

Well, I’m rooting for these two, and I think they look pretty cute together. It hasn’t been lost on fans that Kendall is seemingly following in her sister’s footsteps by dating another buzzy hot Oscar-nominee. Kylie Jenner has been seriously dating Timothée Chalamet for years now, and they’ve had a successful relationship. With Kim Kardashian also dating Lewis Hamilton, this all sounds like a pretty high-profile Thanksgiving if things continue to go well romantically for all the Kardashians.

While she reportedly is keeping the Elordi romance private, you can see Kendall Jenner opening up about other parts of her life on the latest season of The Kardashians, which is currently streaming with a Hulu subscription. Fans of Jacob Elordi can currently see the actor on the new season of Euphoria, which is streaming with an HBO Max subscription.

If you’ve been keeping up with Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner's romance, then you know this past awards season is when things really went public, with the pair going from relatively low-key to front-and-center. At the same time, Chalamet was promoting Marty Supreme, while another big star, Jacob Elordi, was making his own rounds for Frankenstein. Now, they may have more in common than just packed schedules. Reportedly, Elordi has been dating Kendall Jenner for a few months, and if the latest report is to be believed, awards season, plus one very proactive “alpha sister” moment, had a lot to do with it.

According to a report from Daily Mail, that stretch of non-stop award time events and appearances may have played a surprisingly key role in bringing Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi together. Per an unnamed source close to the A-listers:

As Timothée Chalamet was busy working the awards circuit, it sounds like Kylie Jenner was quietly playing matchmaker behind the scenes, taking advantage of all those overlapping events and shared circles to bring the two together. If the report is to be believed, this romantic setup wasn’t so much a casual introduction as it was more of a push. The source added:

What makes this even more interesting is that Kendall and Elordi weren’t strangers to begin with. The report notes they’d known each other for years, but hadn’t crossed that line into anything romantic. That’s where the influence of Kylie, described as the “leader” among the sisters, apparently came into play, helping move things out of the friend zone and into something more.

From there, things escalated pretty quickly. The two reportedly started dating earlier this year and, by the time Coachella rolled around, rumors were already surfacing publicly. Those festival sightings apparently just made it official for everyone else.

Neither Chalamet nor Elordi ended up taking home Oscars for their performances, but it sounds like awards season still worked out in their favor. While the Wonka star's run may not have ended with the gold statuette, it allegedly help set the stage for a new relationship to come together along the way.

Of course, none of this has been officially confirmed by the parties involved, so it’s still very much in the “reported” category. But, if the timeline holds, it’s a pretty great example of how Hollywood relationships can come together in the most on-brand way possible.

On the career front, both Timothée Chalamet and Jacob Elordi have packed 2026 movie schedules. Chalamet is set to return for the final chapter of the Dune trilogy on December 18, while Elordi is currently starring in the final season of Euphoria, now airing and available to stream for those with an HBO Max subscription. He also has an upcoming sci-fi thriller from Ridley Scott, The Dog Stars, hitting theaters on August 28, 2026.

As for Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner, their reality series The Kardashians recently finished up its seventh season, which is now streaming for those with a Hulu subscription.

It’s been over four years since Euphoria last aired on HBO, and now, despite Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi and the rest of the Euphoria cast being a bit older, we can officially say that Euphoria Season 3 has arrived. Critics had the opportunity to screen the first three of the final eight episodes (or are they?), and so far the response is a lot rougher than I expected. Maybe there’s more to that viral Euphoria tweet than fans would like to admit, with critics calling the show “lazy,” “creepy,” and a “stark disappointment.”

With so many of the Euphoria actors exploding in Hollywood over the past four years, it’s impressive that creator Sam Levinson even managed to rally the troops; I don’t even know how Zendaya fit it into her schedule. Even so, the story still needs to satisfy, and according to Lauren Sarner of the New York Post, it’s an “unhinged disaster.” The Euphoria Season 3 review reads:

The above critic says that to Sam Levinson, being an adult apparently means “nearly all of them are involved in sex work, crime” or both. Eleanor Halls of The Telegraph co-signs this statement, saying the writer has “gone full pervert” by trapping all of the female leads in exploitative sex work, leering at them through his camera. Not even Zendaya can save Euphoria Season 3 from descending into “one man’s creepy, sex-obsessed fantasy.” Halls continues:

Alyssa Mora of IGN rates the first three episodes a “Bad” 4 out of 10, saying the characters have been reduced to their most defining traits without the depth that made them interesting in previous seasons. Worse yet, Mora says even with everything this “wannabe crime drama” throws at us, it’s still “kind of boring.” The review reads:

Ben Travers of IndieWire gives it a C-, asking, “How could Euphoria become boring?” One issue, Travers says, is that taking the characters out of the classroom strips them of the relatability that made the drama so frightening. The critic continues:

Alison Herman of Variety is a tad more lenient in her Euphoria review, disagreeing with other critics to say this show could never be boring. It’s still “bombastic, stylish” and full of cutting humor. Unlike the first two, however, Season 3 feels untethered in its first three episodes. Herman writes:

The first third of Euphoria Season 3 has garnered the series just 45% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics noting strange Breaking Bad vibes, characters not acting like themselves and an off-the-rails feeling that it never had in its high school setting.

Will the season find its footing in later episodes? There’s only one way to find out. Tune in when the premiere hits the 2026 TV schedule at 9 p.m. ET Sunday, April 12, on HBO and streaming with an HBO Max subscription.

Ridley Scott has been making classic movies for half a century, and while he’s been nominated four times for an Oscar, he’s yet to win one in his career. That unlucky streak could change with his next movie, a book-to-screen adaptation of the novel The Dog Stars by Peter Heller, coming out later this year. We’re still way too far away from the 99th Academy Awards to make predictions, but from the sound of it, this genre project might be a serious contender.

There is one big reason that I think Scott's new movie, which admittedly we don't know a ton about, could get him at least to the ceremony with a shot to win. Plus, it's not like having Frankenstein's Jacob Elordi in the starring role is going to hurt a single bit.

The Dog Stars Is Sci-Fi, Not Historical

Across his long career, many (though hardly all) of Scott’s movies can fit into two categories: historical dramas and science fiction. He is much better at making the latter. [Don't come at me, history bros.]

Scott’s list of sci-fi movies includes some of the best the genre has ever seen, like Blade Runner, Alien, The Martian, and Alien: Covenant. Those first two alone are giants in the genre, still revered today, decades after they were first released.

On the other hand, when he tries to go out and win an Oscar, I have to say, I’m usually disappointed. I’m talking about historical dramas like 2023’s Napoleon, 2024’s Gladiator II, and the absolutely abysmal 1492: Conquest of Paradise, released in concert with the 500th anniversary of Columbus’ first trip to the Americas. I love Ridley Scott’s work on the whole, but I can’t stand any of those movies (though some may and do disagree). He’s a master at science fiction (and crime dramas), and his historical works have at least as much fiction in them.

Let’s Be Real, Scott Deserves One

Scott has been nominated for Best Director three times, earning his first nomination for Thelma & Louise in 1992, but losing to Jonathan Demme for The Silence of the Lambs. His next nomination came in 2001 for Gladiator, which won five Oscars including Best Picture, but none for Scott himself, as Steven Soderbergh took home Best Director for Traffic. His most recent – and this is hard to believe – came back in 2002 for Black Hawk Down, but he lost that year to Ron Howard and A Beautiful Mind. Scott earned a fourth Oscar nomination as a producer of The Martian in 2016, but it lost in the Best Picture category to Spotlight.

It’s crazy to think that the guy who made all those movies, plus classics like Blade Runner, Alien, Matchstick Men, and American Gangster, hasn’t won an Oscar. Sure, he’s had some duds along the way, but when you’re cranking out a movie every one or two years, there are bound to be a few that don’t land. When Scott does land one, though, it’s great. AS I said in the beginning, having Jacob Elordi, coming off his Oscar nomination at the 98th Academy Awards last month, will only help.

I hope The Dog Stars, coming this summer to the 2026 movie schedule, is one of those. I’d love to see him up on that stage accepting a gold statue, and let’s be honest, Scott is nearly 90-years-old, so who knows how many more films he has left in him. He deserves an Oscar.

The time is finally upon us. The 98th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O’Brien, are this Sunday, and here at CinemaBlend, we’ve made our picks on who we think will take home the top eight categories of the night. Three of the categories (Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress) have clear-cut favorites amongst our staff. The remaining five (both screenplay awards, both supporting actor awards, and the award for Best Actor) are, quite honestly, very tricky to guess, because our opinions vary quite a bit.

The ceremony will be live on March 15th at 7pm ET on ABC, and available to stream live with a Hulu subscription. There are sure to be some surprises, but we’ve done our best to predict what we think will happen (though not necessarily our personal choices). We’ll start with the Best Screenplay Awards and work our way towards our pick for Best Picture, hitting all the acting awards and Best Director along the way. Each of our picks will be in bold among the list of nominees.

In our staff poll, the Best Adapted Screenplay choice is perhaps the most divisive. All five nominees were favored by at least one writer, and it was quite close between Hamnet, Frankenstein, and One Battle After Another. This highlights just how tricky this task can be, because it’s easy to make a case for any of the five. Ultimately, in a very tight poll, Paul Thomas Anderson came out on top for One Battle After Another.

Sinners set the record this year for the most Oscar nominations for a film ever, with 16, including this nomination for writer Ryan Coogler. The momentum for Sinners has only been growing as this very long awards season has gone on (thanks, Olympics). While the staff pick wasn’t as close as it was for Adapted, there was quite a bit of support for Marty Supreme and Sentimental Value, but in the end, Sinners came out on top. This isn’t quite a slam dunk, but it’s the most definitive of the five awards that weren’t easy picks for us.

Best Supporting Actor

• Jacob Elordi for Frankenstein
• Sean Penn for One Battle After Another
• Delroy Lindo for Sinners – Our Predicted Winner

This race has been truly all over the place. Del Toro started the season strong with a string of critics' awards, Elordi won at the Critics' Choice, Skarsgård won the Golden Globe, and Penn has come on strong late with wins at BAFTA and the Actor Awards (formerly The SAG Awards). Four of the five nominees were picked by at least two writers each, and though Lindo hasn’t really been in the conversation until very late, on the strength of Sinners and his amazing performance, he is a real contender now. In fact, he is now the frontrunner, in our opinion.

Best Supporting Actress

• Elle Fanning for Sentimental Value
• Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas for Sentimental Value
• Amy Madigan for Weapons
• Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners
• Teyana Taylor for One Battle After Another – Our Predicted Winner

Like Best Supporting Actor, the race for Best Supporting Actress has been a wild ride, but it seems to have come down to three: Madigan, Mosaku, and Taylor. Each of the three has taken home awards this season, and while our choice ultimately had quite a bit of support, it’s impossible to rule out one of the other two women winning. Two months ago, it seemed like Taylor was going to sweep the season, but Madigan and Mosaku clearly have a lot of momentum as we get to the end here. We still think Taylor is the favorite for One Battle After Another, but just barely. Madigan and Mosaku are considered the favorites by quite a few folks around here.

Best Actor

• Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon
• Michael B. Jordan for Sinners

Now this is a fascinating race, and CinemaBlend’s poll reflects that. We asked the staff to name both who they would vote for and who they think will win. While the majority of staff have predicted Chalamet to win, a huge majority picked Michael B. Jordan as who they would have voted for, personally. It’s safe to say the race is between these two, and, in full disclosure, much of our polling took place before Jordan won at the Actor Awards. There seems to be a late surge happening in favor of the Sinners star. It would not surprise anyone if he takes home the Oscar, but we predict that Chalamet will win in what could be a historic victory.

Here’s where we’re getting to the Oscars that everyone on staff is most confident about in our predictions. In fact, in the Best Actress race, there haven’t been any surprises at all leading up to the Oscars. Jessie Buckley has completely swept the awards leading up to this Sunday, and there is no reason at all to think that will change at the Academy Awards. Buckley’s performance in Hamnet is incredible, and it’s hard to imagine anyone sneaking in and winning this over her. Stone and Byrne did receive some support from the CinemaBlend staff, but an overwhelming majority picked Buckley to win Best Actress.

Best Director

• Paul Thomas Anderson for One Battle After Another – Our Predicted Winner
• Ryan Coogler for Sinners

Like Best Actor, the race for Best Director comes down to two men, Ryan Coogler and Paul Thomas Anderson. All season long, the general consensus is that this is PTA’s time and he’s going to walk away with the win. Our prediction is no different, as a huge majority of our staff believe that this is Anderson’s award to lose. Could he, though? Well, interestingly, yeah, he could. As with Michael B. Jordan, when we ask the staff for their favorite, most picked Coogler as their personal choice, even if almost everyone still predicted PTA to win.

It has gotten trickier and trickier to predict Best Picture over the years. Sure, there are times like two years ago when everyone pretty much knew that Oppenheimer was going to take home the biggest prize of the night. But then there are ones like last year when Anora came on very strong at the end of awards season, but was a little bit of a dark horse on Oscar night. This year could be either.

The strong consensus of the CinemaBlend staff is that One Battle After Another will win Best Picture, but as in a couple of categories, a majority of the staff picked Sinners as their personal favorite. This isn’t surprising, after all, Sinners was our choice for the best movie of 2025. The late momentum for Sinners has turned this award into a real nail-biter, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see Ryan Coogler on stage accepting the award at the end of the night. However, as a group, we have to stick with our prediction, given that all but three staff members picked One Battle to win (interestingly, the other votes all went to Hamnet).

Other than KPop Demon Hunters winning Best Animated Feature and “Golden” from that movie winning Best Song (sorry again, Diane Warren) being pretty much foregone conclusions, there are close races in every single category.

Margot Robbie went to some creative lengths to convince Ryan Gosling to sign on for the blockbuster Barbie. Considering how iconic his Ken performance ultimately became, his love for working on the flick, and how huge the movie turned out to be, it’s safe to say the effort paid off. But the story behind how she got him to say yes led to a hilarious moment when Robbie described buying him a present every single day, and watching Jacob Elordi, her Wuthering Heights co-star, find out is devastating.

As can be seen in an Instagram clip shared by channel10au, Robbie and Jacob Elordi appeared on The Graham Norton Show alongside Amanda Seyfried while promoting their 2026 movie calendar release. During the conversation, she explained that Gosling didn’t immediately jump at the chance to play Ken. In fact, convincing him to join the project required a bit of persistence and a very unusual promise. You can check out the lengths she went to in the video below.

The Suicide Squad star explained that she went to some pretty extreme lengths to negotiate with Gosling, getting him to join the film. At one point in her efforts to win Gosling over, she made a bold promise in an email. She shared:

Naturally, that led to the obvious follow-up question from the couch: What kind of gifts do you even give someone on a movie set every day? Robbie explained that the whole thing turned into a fun running joke during production. Each day, she’d leave something small in Gosling’s trailer labeled as a gift from Barbie to Ken. She continued:

That’s when the moment became comedy gold. As the realization hit that her Wuthering Heights co-lead was sitting right beside her while she described this elaborate gift campaign for Gosling, the entire couch erupted into laughter. Amanda Seyfried didn’t hesitate to pile on either, jokingly pointing out that the situation wasn’t the Australian native’s fault. “That was you. That was on you,” Seyfried told Elordi. Elordi, meanwhile, responded with perfectly timed deadpan delivery:

Of course, the Wolf of Wall Street breakout actress’s bribery campaign clearly worked out in the end. Gosling’s Ken became one of the standout elements of Barbie, streaming with an HBO Max subscription, helping turn the movie into a cultural phenomenon and one of the year's biggest box office hits. Still, it’s pretty funny to imagine the Oscar-nominated actor opening his trailer door each day to find another small surprise waiting for him.

And, if nothing else, the moment on The Graham Norton Show may have revealed a useful casting strategy for Robbie going forward. Though if Jacob Elordi signs on to another project with her, he might want to negotiate for the daily gifts upfront next time.

However, one fan shared this week that she found him keeping to himself in Business Class on a commercial flight before they had the sweetest exchange.

A couple of days ago, TikTok user @patriciaalbassit went on the platform to share an adorable selfie with the 28-year-old actor and a signed copy of Wuthering Heights she received from him, which has gone viral, of course. So what happened? Patricia Albassit said she spotted Elordi wearing headphones and reading what looked like a script. She wasn’t going to disturb him, but once she saw him talking to another passenger, she decided to say hi just as the plane was landing. In her words:

It’s been nearly five years since James Bond was on our movie screens, which means that, considering that the next James Bond movie is well over a year away at the absolute least, we’re likely in for the longest gap between films the franchise has ever seen. Of course, that doesn’t mean that James Bond fans have had absolutely nothing to do. The speculation regarding who will be the next James Bond has been going on for even before No Time to Die hit theaters.

The question of who will be the next James Bond has been one of the hottest casting stories of this decade. Numerous names have been at the top of the odds over the last few years. However, the most recent rumors indicated that the choice may have already been made. Unfortunately for fans hoping the ultimate question had an answer, that may not be the case.

New Report Says James Bond has Not Been Chosen

Two names have jumped to the top of the oddsmakers' books in recent weeks. Academy Award nominee Jacob Elordi and Callum Turner, most recently seen in Eternity, are being rumored, with some reports claiming that one or the other of them had already been decided on. However, in an Instagram post, pop culture site Deuxmoi claims that, according to sources, not only have neither of them been cast, but the casting process isn’t fully underway. Thus, it’s still too early to tie anybody to the role.

If true, the claim that the casting process is not “fully underway” does indicate that the process has at least started. This would likely confirm another rumor, which claims that the next James Bond movie is looking to start filming later this year. If that’s the case, then we are certainly in the period where the casting process needs to ramp up not just for the lead role, but for everything else as well.

The James Bond Casting Process Will Take Time

Of course, none of this means that Jacob Elordi and Callum Turner are not frontrunners to be the next James Bond. The current rumors may be true, and they are currently at the top of the casting director's call sheet. However, even if Amazon MGM, which now has total franchise control, thinks they may be right, neither one of them is simply going to be handed this role.

The casting for the next James Bond movie is likely going to be a slow and involved process because, for many of the roles, Amazon MGM isn’t just casting for a single film but a franchise. Whoever is going to play not just Bond, but M, Q, and potentially others, will need to be in it for the long haul. As such, you can expect this process to not be rushed.

It’s hard to parse through all the casting rumors around who will play James Bond in the next Bond movie, Bond 26 (for lack of a better name at this point). The most recent hot stove contender seems to be 2026 Oscar nominee Jacob Elordi. His name has popped up among all the other rumors and wish-castings, along with those of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Idris Elba, and even Timothée Chalamet.

To be clear, as of yet, no one has been officially announced, but I did find it striking that if Elordi were to be named, and depending on when the film starts production, he would be the youngest actor to ever play 007 in the official series. Who is currently the youngest? Well, I’m glad you asked.

Another Australian Actor Currently Holds The Record

The youngest man to play the British superspy is George Lazenby. He was 29 years old when he took over for a then-39-year-old Sean Connery in 1969’s On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Of course, Connery would return two years later at age 41 for Diamonds Are Forever before retiring from the role (well, except for Never Say Never Again, outside the official canon). If the movie kicks off production this year (which may be an aggressive timeline), Elordi would be 28 or 29 at the time of filming, making him the youngest Bond ever.

Elordi and Lazenby have something else in common, as well: both are Australian. Of the eight men who have played James Bond (six in the official Eon series), all have been from the British Isles, except Lazenby (and American Barry Nelson in his first-ever non-canon appearance in the ‘50s). Connery was Scottish, Roger Moore was English, Timothy Dalton is Welsh, Pierce Brosnan is Irish, and Daniel Craig is English. Elordi would join his fellow Aussie in rarified air.

It Does Seem Like The Next Film Will Feature A Younger Version Of 007

Amidst all the casting rumors lately, there has been a consistent quality: all the rumored actors are on the young side for Bond. As I mentioned, Connery was 41 when he retired from the role, and he was 32 when he first appeared in Dr. No. The Roger Moore era began with 1973’s Live and Let Die, when Moore was 46. By the time Moore retired after 1985’s A View To A Kill, he was 58; to date the oldest Bond. Dalton took over in ‘87 when he was 41. Brosnan was 42 when he took on the role for the first time, and Craig was 38 in Casino Royale.

All that said, the general age of Bond is significantly older than Elordi (and most of the other rumored actors), which may be because the next movie, which will be directed by Dune: Part III director Denis Villeneuve, could be an origin story about 007. While I do admit that I’m not totally psyched about a Bond movie going back to the beginning, I am on board with a younger actor taking on the role. As much as I love Roger Moore as Bond (he was my intro to the series when I was a kid), he was definitely too old to be playing the spy in the last few movies.

As I’ve been rewatching the Bond movies (again) with my Netflix subscription, I’ve been thinking about the future of the franchise, and I’m excited for it. Elordi makes some sense, and going younger is probably a great idea. We’ll just have to wait and see who the new producers pick for a new era!

That eerie, isolating silence we associate with Catherine and Heathcliff wandering the moors? It’s scientifically plausible. The landscape quite literally swallows sound.

Then there’s the rain, because of course there’s rain. Romantic? Maybe on screen. In real life? Bone-chilling. Add wind to wet clothing, and you get evaporative cooling, which accelerates heat loss from your body. The result is that you feel significantly colder than the thermometer suggests. So those dramatic, rain-soaked confrontations aren’t just emotionally intense. They’re physically miserable and oppressive.

Even the ground plays its part. The Yorkshire moors are layered with peat, a dark, spongy material formed over thousands of years from partially decayed plant matter. Because peat has a very low albedo — meaning it absorbs rather than reflects light — it actually deepens the landscape’s gloom. The earth doesn’t bounce brightness back into the sky; it swallows it. Combine that with near-constant cloud cover, rolling fog, and relentless wind, and the result is a setting that feels less like a backdrop and more like a mood made physical.

The more I sit with that, the more the title makes perfect sense. Wuthering Heights isn’t just a dramatic name pinned to a lonely house. Based on when Wuthering Heights was released on the 2026 movie schedule, as well as its trailer, it's easy to assume that it will be a sweeping romantic tale. In some ways, it is; however, it’s by no means a happy one. In fact, it’s a really toxic story that focuses on two pretty bad people. Book readers knew that going into this experience; however, some movie newbies didn’t, and the people familiar with the source material have some words for them.

As someone who has not read Emily Brontë’s novel, I didn’t realize that Wuthering Heights wasn’t an epic romance until I was sitting in the theater. However, plenty of people who have read the novel that inspired this book-to-screen adaptation took to social media to let fans know what they’re getting into. In fact, palmtreefire posted a list of warnings on Threads. Writing:

Considering Wuthering Heights was released over Valentine’s Day weekend, and the trailer markets it as “inspired by the greatest love story of all time,” I can see why some would think Cathy and Heathcliff weren’t the worst. However, they are bad. Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi’s characters are toxic, terrible at communicating, and the reason for each other’s respective demises.

Since it came out, Wuthering Heights reviews have been mixed, and the reactions have been polarizing. However, I do think we can all agree that whether you loved it or hated it, the characters are despicable, Wuthering Heights' ending is tragic, and this is by no means your average romance.

While Cathy and Heathcliff love each other, and have their own trauma they're battling, I would not say they're good people or that their poor choices are justified. They also, for the life of them, can't figure out how to handle their love in a healthy way.

In many ways, Cathy torments and tortures Heathcliff, and she does not treat him kindly. Meanwhile, Heathcliff is mean and abusive to others, especially after he returns. They're both selfish, rude, and inconsiderate to those around them. And all of this poor behavior is what makes this story such a complex and tragic romance. So, yeah, they’re both bad; that’s part of the point, and book readers have been saying that for quite some time.

I Loved My Experience Seeing Wuthering Heights In Theaters

I took my seat at my local theater at a busy mall to see Wuthering Heights on opening night on Thursday night to find that just about every seat was taken. As the movie unfolded, I realized that most of the audience consisted of women who had brought groups of their girlfriends with them to gasp and laugh together throughout. The collective sound and whispered asides from everyone watching the movie together and discussing it together as the credits rolled had the infectious energy of a sleepover as the movie went on.

Margot Robbie has suggested before that grabbing your besties is absolutely how she thinks the movie should be seen – citing her own screening with friends as “the most unhinged experience of [her] life”. I know a lot of people probably went on Valentine’s Day weekend dates to check out the movie, but oh my goodness, was Robbie right! I was living for the giggly gal pal fest, seeing this movie in a packed theater. And, I actually think it only helps that the movie is so polarizing because as everyone walked out, they were having a blast sharing their own opinions on the bold take on the Emily Brontë classic.

It Made Me Realize There’s Not Enough Women-Leaning Big Movies

While Wuthering Heights’ romance didn’t completely sweep me away, the experience of this collective female gaze we were all together to watch did. It reminded me quite a bit of when I saw Barbie in theaters a few years ago, all dressed in pink with my group of friends. Sure, there’s definitely a bigger message to grab on to with Barbie that I’ll be thinking more about than Wuthering Heights in the long run. I love that Robbie (who is a producer on the film) and Fennell made something specifically for women to come together in a cinema for, because we need all the reasons we can!

Ultimately, the familiar but rare feeling made me zoom out and think about the few times I’ve had this experience. While Wuthering Heights wasn’t a staple of my girlhood, it’s clear to me it was for a lot of women, which is why they turned out for this movie. I’ll never forget going to the Twilight movies with my friends in my teen years. Sure, we all knew they weren’t the pinnacle of cinema, but a big part of the experience was bonding with other ladies about an important piece of media to us, and I’d like to see more opportunities for that in upcoming movies.

It’s really not often at all that I go see a movie that’s mostly for the gals, and that’s wild to me. I mean – I understand why it’s the case. I think a lot of it has to do with there not being enough women filmmakers out there, and studios not taking enough chances on female-driven stories in big ways like Barbie and Wuthering Heights. I also think about a big phenomenon like Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour that our spending power (in the majority, of course) could turn into the highest-grossing concert tour ever.

While Emerald Fennell isn’t reaching the heights like the other titles I mentioned, it's moving the needle, and seeing Wuthering Heights reminds me of how impactful it is to have spaces catering to women in the mainstream. I hope Wuthering Heights success serves as another reason why female-driven stories on a big scale should be more commonplace.

The celebrity “fauxmance” has worked to great effect in the past. During the press tour for Anyone But You, stars Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell were rumored to have been more than co-stars. There you have it. “Rawdogging on a flight” is doing absolutely nothing but staring into space on a flight. I could never do that for hours if I’m wide awake. However, I do think it could mean something else, too. Like Robbie’s Wuthering Heights costar Jacob Elordi said, I thought the I, Tonya actress was talking about having her “digits” out during the flight when she brought this up.

Amid the misunderstanding, everyone involved in Capital FM’s interview laughed at Margot Robbie’s trending phrase. However, she claimed that she can’t take credit for the hilarious vocabulary:

With more than a dozen versions of the Emily Brontë novel having been made around the world, Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights may be the most graphic, with first reactions calling it “aggressively provocative,” and Margot Robbie herself describing a screening for her friends as “the most unhinged experience of my life.” David Fear of Rolling Stone has a similar assessment, calling it possibly the “horniest literary adaptation ever made,” writing:

Kate Erbland of IndieWire gives it a B, saying Wuthering Heights is likely to simultaneously enrage literary fans while sparking a new legion of devotees. However, the critic wishes Emerald Fennell would have been bold enough to “be more pervy,” saying If you’re going to go there, go there. If love is going to ruin these two, let’s ruin them.” Erbland continues:

David Rooney of THR warns this “is not your Penguin Classics school curriculum edition” of Wuthering Heights but rather an “unabashedly horny adaptation.” The above critic may have been left wanting in terms of “pervy,” but Rooney thinks there’s definitely enough to earn that R-rating. The critic says:

Mick LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle says in Emerald Fennell’s attempt to sex up Wuthering Heights, she makes so many bad decisions that it becomes unclear why she made an adaptation of this novel rather than any other generic romance. Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi do what they can, LaSalle says, but they’re in constant competition with a soundtrack that insists we’re feeling emotions that aren’t there. The critic continues:

Lindsey Bahr of the AP rates it 2 out of 4 stars, saying Wuthering Heights is an exploration of class, race, desire, revenge, trauma and more, which is why it has been adapted so many times. This version, however, “is an undernourishing feast, neither dangerous nor hot enough.” More from Bahr:

The critics don’t agree on whether you’ll love or hate Emerald Fennell’s version of Emily Brontë’s classic, but it seems likely you’ll have strong feelings either way. Margot Robbie hasn’t exactly been subtle when it comes to selling her 2026 movie calendar release, Wuthering Heights. As she and Jacob Elordi gear up for the release of their new book-to-screen adaptation, their press tour has leaned hard into the romance, to the point that some people are raising eyebrows. If you’ve been anywhere near online film discourse lately, you’ve probably seen folks sounding the alarm that Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi may be leaning a little too hard into their Wuthering Heights fauxmance. Some of the folks allegedly concerned are those close to Robbie's husband.

In a recent report, Star claimed that friends of Robbie’s husband, Tom Ackerley, are concerned about the actress’s dynamic with her co-star. The outlet cited an unnamed source who alleged:

That’s quite the escalation from “press tour chemistry.” To be fair, Robbie and Elordi have not exactly toned it down while promoting Emerald Fennell’s adaptation. Elordi told Fandango he made sure to stay “within 5 to 10 meters” of Robbie on set, watching how she worked and calling himself “enamored” by her process. Robbie, meanwhile, admitted she becomes “codependent” with co-stars and even recalled feeling “lost” when Elordi wasn’t hovering nearby during early production days.

Add in the matching signet rings engraved with an Emily Brontë quote, “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same,” and you’ve got all the ingredients for internet speculation.

But let’s zoom out. This isn’t the first time a press tour has sparked fauxmance chatter. Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, who we haven't heard much about as of late, practically turned “are they or aren’t they?” into a marketing strategy during the Anyone But You rollout. So, when CinemaBlend had a chat with stars about one memorable romantic scene in the movie, Jacob Elordi cautioning audiences about what not do, but was really surprising was his mention of MTV's classic franchise Jackass.

During a new interview with Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie, our own Hannah Saulic asked the leads if they had any tips for fans of the movie who might want to recreate the one-arm lift Heathcliff does to Cathy during the movie. Here’s what Robbie said:

Considering the sensuality that radiates from that scene, the notion of fans wanting to replicate it isn't all that far-fetched. On the surface, it might seem like a romantic way for a person to physically embrace their partner. However, Elordi doesn’t think the move should become a TikTok trend anytime soon. In his words:

I'd think that picking someone up with one arm would go into a different category than the antics on the slapstick comedy franchise starring Johnny Knoxville like jumping on a pogo stick naked or facing off with a bull (leading to literal brain injury). Still, we'll heed Elordi’s words.

However, in the same breadth, since Elordi and Robbie laughed and joked around in our interview and made mention of “movie magic” (you can watch their comments in the video above), I think it also might be possible that Elordi had some lift support on set? Here's what else Robbie said:

While we may not get the “how” behind Elordi’s swoonworthy one-arm lift anytime soon, part of the reason the scene must exist is to allow the audience to revel in the fantasy of the romantic story. That said, we must also warn people that the original story the film is based on is rather tragic.

The indie satire stars fan-favorite actors Jacob Elordi and Ayo Edebiri, which alone drives up the potential for it being an intriguing watch. But before you hit play, you might want to glance at the gap between critics and audience scores, because it is wild.

The film currently holds an impressive 82% Rotten Tomatoes score with critics. The audience score? Well, it's at a much rougher 53% on the Popcornmeter. Talk about a full-on divide.

Directed by Sean Price Williams, The Sweet East follows Lillian, a high school senior from South Carolina who gets separated from her classmates during a trip to Washington, D.C. Now, The Sweet East is seeing a comparable divide between professional reviews and viewer reactions.

One viewer called it “one of the most pretentious and boring movies I have ever seen,” comparing it to a “bad A24 movie” and labeling the experience an “absolute chore.” Another dismissed it as “amateurish, film-schoolish writing” with unlikable characters. Several complained that the film becomes repetitive, with one frustrated reviewer noting, “The girl just keeps getting captured!”

Even viewers who wanted to like it admitted it didn’t quite gel. “I expected more but got less,” one wrote. Others argued that while the cast is strong, the script doesn’t fully deliver.

The gold rings from Cece Jewellery feature two skeletons holding each other, much like the two actors do on the Wuthering Heights poster, the Emily Brontë quote “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same,” their characters' initials, and the years of the book’s publication and the movie’s release, 1847 and 2026.

Of course, Robbie’s commitment to method dressing for the Wuthering Heights press tour has been incredible, and this plays into it. However, between these rings, the aforementioned comments, and other things these two have said, people are wondering if they’re “affair-bating.”

Of Course, Now People Are Talking About Affair-Baiting

Now, amid all this, people are analyzing Robbie and Elordi’s comments about each other as well as things they've done for each other. There’s a clear admiration they share, and at times, it feels like they’re swooning over one another. So, some are talking about how it feels like they’re affair-baiting.

Podcasts, like Mamamia Out Loud and Shameless, have covered the topic, and their clips on TikTok feature comments debating whether this is all “shameless marketing,” as commenter nt91 put it, if they’re simply two actors who are friends, or if this is actually a relationship to wonder about. Meanwhile, outlets like Star are publishing rumors about how Robbie’s husband, Tom Ackerley, feels about all this. So, in short, this has caused quite the stir.

While I’m Here For Them As A Movie Duo, This Isn’t Giving Sydney Sweeney And Glen Powell Energy

Overall, this is all reminding me of the Anyone But You press tour. Back in 2023, rumors about Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell dating went viral as they promoted their rom-com. This was a masterclass in getting the Internet to talk about an "are they or aren't they" situation, beginning with an appearance at CinemaCon and continuing through break-ups with their respective others. Eventually, it probably helped Anyone But You make a ton of money at the box office, too.

Then, after the movie came out, the Top Gun: Maverick star admitted they had leaned into those affair rumors to sell their project. As far as we know, the two were never in a relationship. However, the chatter about the potential for it has persisted. We knew, but we didn't know, you know?

This Wuthering Heights situation feels so very different. Sweeney and Powell were shiny new actors on the A-lister scene with Anyone But You, and they weren't in marriages. While Elordi is (presumably) single, Margot Robbie is significantly more established, and she has famously been married to Tom Ackerley for a decade. They welcomed a baby toward the end of 2024, and she's been bringing the baby on press tours.

Adding to all that, Ackerley and Robbie work closely together as producing partners. In fact, he’s an executive producer on Wuthering Heights, while his wife is listed as a producer. They also co-founded their production company, LuckyChap, with Josey McNamara, and have produced movies like Barbie, Saltburn, My Old Ass and more together. People are rooting for them as a little family.

So, that adds a layer of complexity to this situation. So when it comes to the "obsession" Elordi and Robbie share, and their undeniable chemistry, I agree the two were a good casting fit, and their press bent fits in with Wuthering Heights themes. However, the fauxmance feel of the interviews is working for me less than Anyone But You, and for good reason.

Guillermo del Toro’s take on the classic Frankenstein is already one of the best interpretations of what’s called the first science fiction novel. The movie has received an Oscar nomination this year for Best Picture, and Jacob Elordi has a Best Supporting Actor nod for his role as the creature. Del Toro clearly chose the right actor for that part, and he says he knew he had as soon as he saw the actor in the make up.

Jacob Elordi certainly looks the part in Frankenstein, available with a Netflix subscription. He’s a big guy at 6’ 5”, and the filming of the movie makes him look even bigger, but that’s not why he was right to play the Creature. In a recent Frankensein Q&A attended by SFX Magazine, Guillermo del Toro spoke about Elordi’s performance. Though he indicated it may not have been as much of a performance as we thought, as Elordi’s portrayal was quite “real” in the eyes of his director. Del Toro explained…

If Elordi was the right one for the role that means quite a bit, considering he wasn't originally going to play the part. Elordi took over the role from Andrew Garfield after the Spider-Man star had scheduling conflicts.

Del Toro is certainly right that Jacob Elordi, like most professional actors, has something of a reputation. People judge him by the way he looks, whether or not that’s accurate to the person that he is. Elordi himself seemingly felt that the disconnect between the appearance and the reality of the Creature wasn’t that different from the way he felt about himself. The physical transformation into the “monster” gave him the ability to embody that.

Elordi also put a lot of work in to get his performance ready for the screen. Del Toro says the actor was working for weeks before filming began, and that he used the process of being in a makeup chair for 10 hours a day to mentally prepare. The filmmaker continued...

The work certainly appears worth it, considering he now has an Oscar nomination under his belt for the performance. The Best Supporting Actor category is stacked with talent, so it won’t be easy to win, but it’s a safe bet that everybody will see Jacob Elordi a little differently now, no matter how it goes.

When the 2026 Oscar nominations were announced last week, Jacob Elordi made the list for his incredible performance as The Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. While we wait to learn who will win in the Best Supporting Actor category and so forth during the 98th Academy Awards in March, Elordi shared the sweet way the late Heath Ledger inspired him to aspire to the Hollywood stars.

Jacob Elordi is a huge fan of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight (which made it at No. 2 in our best movies of the 2000s list) frequently citing the movie as a formative experience in his life and a “masterpiece.” So when he turned up on Jimmy Kimmel Live following the Oscar milestone, he had this to say about the honor:

A lot of Hollywood actors like to brush off the Academy Awards as no big deal, but Jacob Elordi got honest about his enthusiasm for the honor on the late night talk show. As he continued:

Whoa, that’s pretty wild! It’s true. Heath Ledger died at the age of 28 years old on January 22, 2008, and Jacob Elordi got nominated for Frankenstein on January 22 of this year. Ledger famously was nominated posthumously in the same category as Elordi for his role of The Joker in The Dark Knight on the one-year anniversary of his death, January 22, 2009, before earning the award during the ceremony a month later.

Ledger is clearly a hero of Elordi’s, so for them to have a distinct connection now must be pretty special. Plus, the roles that got them Oscar nominations and their career trajectories share some similar threads as well. Sadly, in Ledger’s case, his death was due to an accidental drug overdose of prescription medication.

Both of them earned their Oscar nominations in roles they did before they were 30, which is something that’s only happened a handful of times over the years. It required them to transform with the distinct work from their movie’s hair & makeup team, and both roles showed them transitioning out of teen heartthrob roles to more serious and layered genre roles. Elordi’s transformation into The Creature has earned him flirty reactions and a funny story from Oscar Isaac about the first time he saw him in the role.

Jacob Elordi is nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category alongside Benecio del Toro and Sean Penn for One Battle After Another, Delroy Lindo for Sinners, and Stellan Skarsgård for Sentimental Value. The interaction is pretty simple, but I have to say, he does look grateful that she was there for him, giving her hand a squeeze of thanks after placing the gum inside (YOU MADE HER SQUEEZE THE GUM!). She also gave an amused smile afterward that seemed to indicate she didn’t mind.

If Jacob Elordi can make spitting out gum smooth and sexy, it’s no wonder he’s allegedly jumped to the top of the list to be the next James Bond. First things first, though. The actor teased something “incredibly clever and cinematic” for Nate Jacobs on the upcoming season of Euphoria, and of course, we want to see if his performance as Guillermo del Toro’s Creature can bring home the hardware at the Oscars.

Wuthering Heights releases in theaters Friday, February 13, and tune into the Academy Awards at 7 p.m. ET Sunday, March 15, on ABC. All of this presumably means a lot of upcoming events for Elordi, and maybe next time he’ll remember to spit out his gum before he hits the red carpet.

Perhaps you’ve actually read Wuthering Heights and think I’m a complete idiot for making it decades without reading or understanding the plot of Emily Bronttë’s seminal work. Or, perhaps you are a person who, like me, has not yet read the book ahead of its upcoming big screen adaptation, and weren’t so sure about the tone of Emerald Fennell’s 2026 movie release.

If you are in the latter camp, I must warn you the movie is not an epic romance. Yes, I’m as shocked as you (maybe) are. I honestly only know this because I went to an all-hands meeting with the CinemaBlend team the other day and enthusiastically spoke about Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie doing a romance together. It was awkward crickets in the room for a hot minute before my colleague finally told me I needed to reset my expectations about what’s coming in Wuthering Heights. Embarrassing? Positively. Was I grateful for the heads up? Only time will tell.

To my credit, Valentine’s Day is usually a big weekend at the box office for some sort of romantic flick. This slot can lend itself to some darker romances like Fifty Shades of Grey, but a lot of February releases tend to be lighthearted, like How to Lose A Guy In 10 Days or Hitch. So, sorry I didn’t totally get the memo here with Wuthering Heights.

I honestly probably should have seen this turn of events coming. I did see Saltburn, and it was one of the wildest movies tonally I’d ever gotten through. Given Fennell’s track record with that movie and Promising Young Woman, I suppose I should have expected some complications outside of Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi staring adoringly into one another’s eyes.

Listen: I know I’ve outed myself as ridiculously uninformed, here, but to defend myself once more: It’s not as if I thought this would be a rom-com in the vein of Emma. You can tell from the Wuthering Heights trailer there will absolutely be some drama. I know, for example, there are some familial complications, and that Heathcliff must leave to seek a fortune. From what I’ve seen, Margot Robbie’s character seems to be left with few choices in the marriage department. I guess I just assumed this would all wrap up with a neat little bow, or at least some Titanic-level romantic ending.

That’s not true in the least, apparently, and we’ve either gotten some genius level marketing that will surprise audiences (I blame the use of Charli XCX’s pop track “Chains of Love”), or else I’m like the last person to know what Brontë’s novel is about. I honestly don’t want to spoil anyone or even look into how Wuthering Heights wraps, so I’m planning to go into the movie unspoiled, then read the book, now. Still, I do think it’s worth a warning that this will not be the feel good hit of 2026. Emerald Fennell clearly prefers her storytelling to be a little bit messed up, and that will continue with the release of Wuthering Heights next month. Though the casting director did even say "English lit fans" won't be happy. So, who really knows what's coming down the pipeline?

While it's known that Dune's Denis Villeneuve will be joining the film as its director and Spencer’s Steven Knight is writing the script, it’s still unclear who's playing the next James Bond. Well, after the 2026 Academy Award nominations came out, a new favorite has reportedly emerged amongst the Bond hopefuls, and I’m crossing my fingers that this happens.

If there’s anything all James Bond actors have in common, it’s their on-screen charisma, firm physicality and ability pull off a nice suit. Of course, there are plenty of actors who can fill in 007’s shoes after Daniel Craig. Interestingly, though Showbiz411 claims Jacob Elordi is now at the top of Amazon MGM's Bond 26 wish list, thanks to the 2026 Oscar nominations!

I’m bursting with joy that Jacob Elordi has apparently become a new favorite for a potential James Bond actor. Yes, other actors on the list, like Tom Holland and Harris Dickinson, could theoretically pull off 007's swagger and charm. Still, I think Elordi would be downright perfect.

The Euphoria actor played the Creature in Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein, given a transformative and emotional performance that's arguably different from any of his other projects. For his role in that film, Elordi has won a Critic’s Choice Award, and he received Golden Globe and Oscar nominations,. Given the praise Elordi has received, it's no wonder his name has now apparently surged to the top of the Bond conversation.

Jacob Elordi wouldn’t be the first Australian actor to portray James Bond either, as George Lazenby previously held the role. The Priscilla also has one key element going for him amid the search for the new Commander Bond: his age. Lazenby was 29 when he played the Ian Fleming-created character, and Elordi is 28 now.

A younger 007 actor could be invaluable for the Bond 26 producers, especially when thinking about how long that person could remain in the role. Considering the sensual appeal Elordi brought to Saltburn and seems to be adding to the 2026 movie release Wuthering Heights, the popular actor could theoretically help bring a younger audience to the Bond fanbase.

It should still be said that nothing is set in stone, though, as Amazon MGM has yet to formally announce its new Bond actor. Still, I just can't help but get excited over the notion of Elordi going from playing the hulking Creature to the smooth Bond. Jacob Elordi would certainly do an incredible job of employing Bond’s “panther-like” movements, emotional vulnerability and fierce elegance for the role. (Plus, I really want to hear him say “shaken, not stirred.”)

While fans wait for any official 007 announcements one way or the other, they can watch Elordi’s Oscar-nominated performance in Frankenstein using a Netflix subscription. So, when’s the Dog Stars release date? According to Deadline, the new post-apocalyptic thriller will land on the big screen on August 28, 2026. The movie was originally set to debut on the 2026 movie schedule in March, but Disney had a big reshuffling just before Christmas and moved several titles like Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, They Will Kill You, and Gatto, a new Pixar movie.

The Dog Stars is coming out on what’s shaping up to be a busy weekend near the end of the summer Blockbuster season, as Coyote vs. Acme and Cliffhanger will also be coming out. Looks like we’ll be going to the movies quite a bit next summer.

Ridley Scott Isn’t The Only Decorated Behind-The-Scenes Player Invovled With The Dog Stars

Smith most recently wrote 2024’s Twisters, which should be a good sign for those wondering how the action will be written. He also penned the scripts for The Revenant, The Boys in the Boat, and Overlord in recent years. Wilkinson’s credits include Nixon, Ali, and Birth of the Dragon.

An adaptation of Mary Shelley’s iconic novel, del Toro’s film is beautiful, well-directed and powerfully acted. One of standouts is Jacob Elordi, who plays the Creature at the center of this gothic tale. Elordi is actually so good that one aspect of his performance has me hoping he’ll consider a specific career move.

There’s A Specific Type Of Acting Work Jacob Elordi Should Think About Moving Forward

Anyone who’s seen del Toro’s latest film surely knows it relies heavily on narration, with one portion being told from the perspective of Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac) and the other from his monstrous creation. With that, Jacob Elordi is called upon to deliver copious amounts of dialogue in addition to the lines he has in scenes with fellow actors. The narrator-driven approach works, and while watching the film, I also had one thought: “Wow, Elordi really should consider seeking out voice-acting roles.”

The Deep Water star – who underwent a long makeup process for this part – was faced with the challenge of formulating a voice for the Creature that was not only ominous, but soulful as well. He more than succeeds on that front, as his voicework helps bolster Guillermo del Toro’s already-strong writing. What’s most impressive, though, is that the A-lister’s pipes are practically unrecognizable when he’s in character. Honestly, if I didn’t know it was him going in, I probably would’ve thought he was another actor entirely.

Voice-acting is challenging and, quite frankly, few on-camera actors have the chops to do it as skillfully as performers who regularly work in recording booths. Elordi deserves recognition in this regard, and I’d love to see him take on work in interesting animated films. With the right role, I can only imagine what he could do with filmmakers like Hayao Miyazaki or Brad Bird. Elordi could even reteam with animation lover Guillermo del Toro, who directed the emotional and thought-provoking Pinocchio.

Being a superhero fan, I can also think of a couple of perfect voice-acting roles for Jacob Elordi within that genre. Specifically, and this may be a little on the nose after Frankenstein, but it’s hard not to think of Elordi voicing Swamp Thing. I find this all exciting to think about, but there’s still the matter of whether Elordi is actually open to this professional avenue.

Jacob Elordi Is Busy With On-Camera Work

At this point, Elordi is essentially in his “movie star” era and headlining a number of marquee titles. Priscilla, Saltburn and The Sweet East are among the notable credits he’s amassed in recent years, and he has Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars and Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights adaptation lined up for the 2026 movie schedule. Of course, Elordi is also still a fixture within TV, and he’s most notably set to reprise his role as Nate Jacobs for Euphoria Season 3.

I’d like to think Elordi could squeeze in a voice-acting role or two, but considering how his career is taking off with live-action fare, I’m not even sure if he’s even remotely interested in voiceover work. Still, if marquee stars like Oscar Isaac (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), Florence Pugh (Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) and Robert Pattinson (The Boy and the Heron) make time for such work, I’m confident Elordi could at least consider it.

We all react to fear differently. At least, that’s how I’m choosing to explain Oscar Isaac’s first reaction to seeing his Frankenstein co-star Jacob Elordi in full creature makeup. While I thought the Creature’s design in the 2025 movie release was hauntingly beautiful and strikingly macabre, Isaac’s response was… less poetic. The Moon Knight actor couldn’t help himself and completely burst out laughing, and there's a video of him playfully roasting Elordi.

Isaac recently joined Elordi and director Guillermo del Toro to reflect on that first on-set moment. During the trio's interview with Discussing Film (which was posted to its TikTok account), it was revealed that the laughter came fast the first time Isaac laid eyes on the fully transformed Creature. As you can see in the video below, the Doctor Frankenstein performer couldn’t help but jab his castmate:

There has been plenty of debate about how much del Toro’s new book-to-screen adaptation strays from Mary Shelley’s original novel. And, yes, there are major changes. However, what stands out most to me is how much it gets right, and those are elements that, until now, no adaptation has fully captured on screen.

As a lifelong Frankenstein fan, not just of the novel (which happens to be my favorite book of all time), but of nearly every film version. I’ve seen it all. From James Whale’s 1930s classic to the Hammer horrors of the ’70s, and yes, even the De Niro-led version from the ’90s, (which has its moments). But what Guillermo del Toro nails here is giving Jacob Elordi the space to be terrifying when needed, while still revealing the Creature as something beautifully broken, achingly lonely in the quiet between the violence. And, most importantly, hauntingly human.

So, sure, Oscar Isaac might’ve laughed the first time he saw the Creature in full makeup, and the clip above is indeed funny. But, for a number of viewers like myself, I think Jacob Elordi’s portrayal is going to stay with them for a long, long time.

You can make up your own mind on whether the monster is laughable or terrifying by cueing up Frankenstein with your Netflix subscription and giving it a watch.

Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn was certainly a memorable film for its boundary-pushing scenes that left audiences both intrigued and unsettled. Barry Keoghan’s naked dance scene was wild and unexpected, but it worked well with the main character's motives in the sneaky con artist flick. The infamous bathtub scene also caused quite a fuss online, and now, Keoghan’s co-star, Jacob Elordi, has shared his thoughts on the "prudish" reactions.

In Saltburn’s viral bathtub scene, Jacob Elordi’s character, Felix, masturbated in a tub while Barry Keoghan’s Oliver was secretly watching. When Felix leaves, Oliver goes into the tub and slurps up the bathwater Felix was just in. After that shocking scene caused a stir online, the Euphoria actor spoke about it on EW’s Awardist podcast and shared his opinion on what he thinks that reaction says about today’s audiences:

Jacob Elordi continued to say how audiences seem to be more unfazed by on-screen violence than sexual content. It definitely raises a unique conversation on why seeing graphic violence is easier to take in compared to anything sexual.

While director Emerald Fennell called the bathtub scene “sexy,” I agree more with Barry Keoghan’s interpretation that drinking Felix's used bathwater is about his character’s obsession with wanting to consume Felix's lavish lifestyle. So I would say it’s more disturbing and symbolic compared to anything romantic or sexual, and it fits into the movie’s dark themes of class envy.

Going back to Elordi's thoughts on the matter, he went on about what he found “interesting” about the contrast between audiences' reactions to violent movies and the tension felt in psychologically twisted dramas:

While I can’t say for sure why audiences react with surprise to nude or sexually graphic scenes more than violent ones, it could be because you know what to expect with horror or action movies. You know going in that you’ll see the blood and gore the plot entails. But, with dark comedies like Saltburn, it's hard to tell what to expect. It could be that unpredictability is what keeps audiences on edge with a real curiosity about what lines can be drawn next. However, that's just my theory.

If Jacob Elordi is right about audiences being “prudish” about Saltburn’s infamous bathtub scene, that speaks volumes about how audiences tend to be more at ease with on-screen violence than anything explicitly intimate. But since these scenes go viral pretty quickly, their unexpectedness can spark conversation and force viewers to think about the film’s dark themes more. Making any one of the upcoming book-to-screen adaptations has to be a nail-biting process, because when you convert a piece of literature into a different medium, there’s always something lost along the way. But, once in a while, a creative team knocks it out of the park, and it feels like you actually got something new from a book. Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is one of those rare movies to do so. Not only because it nails the spirit of Mary Shelley’s classic work, but in the way it builds on it, too.

Frankenstein is one of those books that will be adapted over and over for every generation. So while you can certainly try to nail it word-for-word, I’m overjoyed that Guillermo del Toro, a true master of horror and fantasy, found a poignant way to share his own reading of the iconic monster story by making some changes to the ending of the story. Let’s break it down.

What Happens At The End Of The Frankenstein Book

I’ll never forget the first time I read Frankenstein in high school. At the time, I had no idea one of the most famous monsters in pop culture started as a novel that was written by a 19-year-old woman in 1818. I was floored by the novel, and it has remained one of my favorite books of all time since.

In the book, Frankenstein ends with the death of Victor Frankenstein after his wife, Elizabeth, who was his childhood friend-turned-lover, is killed at the hands of the monster he created. A few days later, his father, whom he’s only just reunited with, dies as well, seemingly as a reaction to the horror of his son's tragedies. Victor is vengeful and decides not to rest until he’s killed his murderous creation. This leads Victor to the snowy North, where he meets a man named Walton, who captains a North Pole-bound ship. Victor tells him the story of how he created a monster out of the various limbs of cadavers stunned by electricity.

Victor dies not long after telling Walton his story. Several days later, Walton finds the monster on the ship crying over the dead body of Victor, before he laments about the regrets in his life. The book ends with the monster leaving Walton’s ship hopeless and fully intending to commit suicide because he has nothing left, and is truly alone in the world. The ending really drives home Shelley’s message that companionship is absolutely key to our survival, and how, when both Victor and the monster were cast out (in their ways) from society, they each met melancholic ends.

What Happens At The End Of Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein

Writer/director Guillermo del Toro's version frames the whole story around Victor in his final days, telling his story to Walton on his ship up North, like the book. However, before we get to Victor’s death, there are a few major changes to note. For one, in the movie, Elizabeth is the fiancée of his younger brother, William, and pretty much hates Victor’s guts from the beginning. The movie gives Elizabeth more to do because she actually bonds with the monster and wants to love and protect him. In Del Toro’s reading, I think she sees herself in the monster and wishes for them both to be free, rather than the possessions that they are treated like by Victor.

Jacob Elordi’s monster, who was originally going to be played by Andrew Garfield, is a much gentler creature than the monster in the book, with a much smaller kill count. In the movie, it’s Victor who actually kills Elizabeth by accident on her wedding night while trying to shoot his creation, and his brother dies soon after in the commotion. Following this incident, Victor is vengeful of the monster, but because he has nothing left to live for, he feels he must kill him. (But this version of the creature seems invincible). His creation is equally as angry at him and stalks him to the North.

When Victor and the monster reunite on the ship, Victor is not yet dead, and when they are together, he asks his creation for forgiveness. As Victor says in the movie:

The movie concludes with the creature forgiving Victor as he takes his last breath. He kisses him on the head, and leaves the ship, not without helping the crew get unstuck from an iceberg they’ve run into, and reveling in watching a sunrise as the score gorgeously wells (and I know I started tearing up).

Why I Think I Like The Movie's Ending Better

Obviously, between the two, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is a lot more hopeful and perhaps not as realistic. But I absolutely love the sentiment behind it, because it frames Victor and his creation as father and son, and the message there is beautiful. By the end of the movie, we see Victor as this flawed father, who was traumatized by his own father’s inability to save his beloved mother (as shown at the beginning of the movie), and then took his trauma into his own “fatherhood” of sorts and created the creature. But, rather than holding the anger he had toward Victor for putting him into the world and treating him poorly, he’s able to set himself free by forgiving him in the end, and taking his advice to “live.”

Obviously, Mary Shelley’s original story is absolutely perfect –no notes, and I would never want to change the original vision she had for the story. But, when it comes to this adaptation by del Toro, I’m so happy he ended the movie at this place of optimism and the creature earning this sense of gratitude for what it means to be human from Victor. It made me think differently about Frankenstein’s themes about humanity in terms of family dynamics I’d never gathered before. This is one of those 2025 movie releases I won’t forget anytime soon.
