It seems like it was just yesterday that we were making Royal Rumble predictions, but little did we know that one of the biggest talking points on the Road to Wrestlemania 42 would be about Bron Breakker and the masked man who viciously attacked him at the start of the match. Yet, like a storyline out of Dallas, we’re here wondering who attacked Bron and prevented the member of the Vision from earning a title shot.

In the hours and days since the mysterious attacker cut Breakker’s time in the rumble short (he lasted a mere 10 seconds), the internet wrestling community has been in full Charlie Kelly-conspiracy-theory-mode, trying to get to the bottom of this. As someone who frequents these Twitter feeds, subreddits, and old-fashioned message boards myself, I’ve come up with some guesses for the masked man’s identity. Let’s get to the bottom of this…

What Fans Are Saying About The Masked Man's Attack

Ever since the masked man stomped Bron Breakker and his chances of main-eventing WrestleMania 42, the internet has been going crazy, and by internet, I mean Reddit. There are countless threads on r/Wrasslin, where users are claiming it’s Adam Pearce, others on r/SquaredCircle, where plenty of people have theories of their own from the “really weird Rumble,” and dozens of other threads of people saying it’s everyone from Seth Rollins to Logan Paul.

This is one of the bigger storylines in WWE right now, which is saying something, considering we have the whole Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk angle, a possible fraying of the Judgment Day, and Oba Femi’s utter dominance following the Rumble.

Who I Think Could Be Behind The Mask

Could this be WWE’s way of fixing the Vision? Is this setting up the eventual return of Seth Rollins? What about a method of introducing Jake Paul to WWE? Or how about setting the stage for Adam Pearce getting back in the ring? These are some of the possibilities I see for the vicious attack on Bron Breakker at the Royal Rumble.

Come along as I break down some of the strongest candidates and why they do and don’t make sense…

Seth Rollins

Though Seth Rollins is technically out with an injury (a real one this time), there’s always a chance that the “Visionary” comes off the disabled list and starts a program with Bron Breakker. I mean, Breakker and Rollins’ former Vision stablemates did put a beating on the two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion a few months ago, and this could be a way to start that up again.

Even if Rollins wasn’t actually the man behind the mask, WWE can work around that and simply say he was in Saudi Arabia that night or that he was behind a scheme that involved hiring a masked attacker. Stranger things have happened in wrestling, if I’m being honest.

Austin Theory

Considering Austin Theory was revealed to be the masked man the last time a mysterious attacker ran through WWE, I can’t help but think he’s a good option. He did appear later in the Rumble, and Theory came in at number 15, meaning he would have had plenty of time to swap outfits and cool down before entering the match.

He has the build, the offense, and a reason to attack Breakker like that. With the second-generation wrestler getting all of the attention from Paul Heyman in recent weeks, it’s not hard to imagine a scenario in which a bitter and jealous Theory decides to take out his “friend” and get a shot at glory.

Logan Paul

Love him or hate him, Logan Paul is one of the best wrestlers in WWE right now. It pains me to say that, but it’s the honest truth. He’s easy to hate and root against, he’s so good in the ring it makes me angry, and he knows how to work a crowd. If I were a betting man (which I’m not), I would put some money on the influencer-turned-wrestler being behind the mask or involved in the attack.

Like Theory, Paul has a lot to gain from turning against his stablemate. He’s not getting as much attention right now, he’s being forced to stand in the background, and he’s not in a championship match. Plus, if WWE is planning on turning Breakker into a superstar and hard-hitting babyface, having Paul as his foil would make it work so much more.

Jake Paul

Jake Paul is currently rehabbing a broken jaw following his December 2025 fight against Anthony Joshua, so he admittedly doesn’t seem like a viable candidate for the masked man, but this is wrestling we’re talking about. While Paul has said his body isn’t cut out for the athleticism his brother uses in the ring, the influencer-turned-boxer has always seemed like someone who would eventually make a run in WWE.

Is this it? Is the attack on Breakker the catalyst for Paul to make the jump to the squared circle? I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he entered the fray to help his brother have a better shot at winning the Rumble or at least take the Vision member out of the picture.

Adam Pearce

Though Adam Pearce hasn’t wrestled a competitive match since hanging up his boots back in 2014 (I don’t count those awful matches in WWE from a few years ago), let’s not forget that he was a tough SOB in the ring back in the day. With Pearce’s feud with Paul Heyman and Bron Breakker heating up in recent weeks, I wouldn’t be surprised if the WWE official took matters into his own hands at the Rumble.

Even if Pearce wasn’t the one who pulled off the stomp and superkick, he could have very well hired the man behind the mask to do his bidding. This could very well be leading towards a WrestleMania 42 match where Pearce puts his guy up against Heyman and Breakker with some kind of stipulation involved.

Though I don’t know if the identity of WWE’s masked man will be revealed on Monday Night Raw in the coming weeks, I plan on checking out each episode with my Netflix subscription so I don’t miss out when it happens!

A BBC report stated that Anthony Joshua was in Nigeria when a vehicle he was traveling in rear-ended a truck that had broken down on the road. Five men were confirmed to be involved in the crash, and two have died. As for Joshua, he's reportedly only suffering from minor injuries.

After Joshua defeated Jake Paul in front of a packed stadium and all those watching with a Netflix subscription, it was confirmed he had a much bigger fight on the horizon for the new year. Discussions are in place for the former Olympic Gold Medalist to take on Tyson Fury, assuming a deal can happen between the two.

As of the time of writing this story, it's unknown if this accident will impact any fight with Fury in 2026. Unfortunately, for the social media star, I don't think this fight moved him any closer to his dream of a title match.

Earlier this year, I made the bold statement that Jake Paul deserved a title shot for the popularity spike he'd given to the sport. I was even fooled into believing he was talented enough to rise to the challenge after he received a ranking from the World Boxing Association. That ranking was later amended and removed, and I don't think it needs to go back anytime soon after this disappointing showing from "El Gallo," which showed he's still far away from the big leagues.

In the fifth round, a gassed Paul had no more energy to run and took heavy damage before being knocked out in the sixth. He revealed on X that he had his jaw broken in two places, though someone could argue it might've gotten much worse had he tried to box longer.

Paul Resorted To "Trolling" And Other Bush League Tactics Rather Than His Skills

It was clear from the time the bell rang that Jake Paul was outmatched by Anthony Joshua, especially when he resorted to trolling and bush league tactics rather than actual boxing technique. This included a bizarre clinching move in which he'd drop down and act as though he were attempting a wrestling takedown. It happened several times during the event, to the point that the referee had to stop the match and lecture both fighters.

Paul landed a few solid shots on Anthony Joshua, but what I remember most about this fight is the number of times he bulged his eyes and stuck his tongue out after getting rocked. It was an effort to bait and taunt Joshua, but given what was happening, it didn't look tough. He looked like someone without options, doing what he could to create a moment for a future YouTube video.

After this match, Joshua will enter negotiations to box Tyson Fury, and maybe even work his way back to the top of the sport. As for Jake Paul, he said he's taking a break, and I imagine his next battle won't be against someone of Anthony Joshua's caliber. That's for the best, but until he can prove he's worthy of a challenge like that, he's not worthy of a title shot.

For those feeling confident that Jake Paul will come out on top, they can still bet on him at +700, which translates to a 12.5% chance of winning. A $10 wager on Paul would pay out $80, but given the odds against him, I would hold onto my money.

The Odds Of This Fight Stopping Early Are Also Incredibly High

Not only is Anthony Joshua heavily favored to defeat Jake Paul, but there are also a good chance that this boxing match will not last the full eight rounds. Oddsmakers have Joshua finishing the fight by TKO, KO, or DQ at -380, which equates to 79.17%.

So, unless Deontay Wilder was right about there being some sort of agreement about the match being "scripted" and for some pre-determined outcome to happen, there's a good chance this match ends with Paul getting knocked out.

For those who have waited since he defeated Mike Tyson to see Jake Paul knocked out, it sounds like there's a good chance of that happening tonight. Anything less might once again raise suspicions that the former social media star has agreements behind the scenes for fighters to take it easy on him.

Personally, I don't believe anything like that is in place, and it wouldn't benefit Paul to have any such agreement. He's expected to lose this fight with Anthony Joshua, and it would seem that this whole bout was orchestrated in response to the common criticism that Paul's never truly faced anyone who exceeded him in size and skill. Warren noted that Fury had retired from boxing again but had stayed in shape and would be ready for a bout in the new year.

Could Jake Paul Ruin This Deal?

If he loses, it sounds like he won't be fighting Tyson Fury in 2026 and, in fairness, why should he?

He's wanted a title shot for some time now, and it seems the only way he'll reach that goal is by putting himself up against trained boxers who are well above him in skill. I'm not sure he'll be extended the same invitation to take on Tyson Fury if he were to defeat Joshua somehow, unless it were in a WWE ring with his brother Logan. Jake isn't interested in that, so a fan has to wonder if he'll keep at the grind and wait for those at the top of the boxing world to acknowledge him.

Or, at least I think that's what he's doing, as his latest post about the fighter had me confused about what Paul is trying to accomplish with all this.

While fighting fans eagerly await the chance to watch the bout with their Netflix subscription, Jake Paul is up on Instagram spouting off facts about his opponent. That said, I'm not sure if he's stating facts or trying to say something with this post, which points out just how different 2012 was for them:

He's being facetious, I think, but even so, I'm not sure what the motivation is here to state this. I don't buy that Jake Paul actually believes a local wrestling tournament is more competitive than the Olympic Games, and one is far more prestigious than the other. It's almost like he's bragging on his opponent, and if that's the case, why would he do that?

It's worth noting that Anthony Joshua's much-celebrated 2012 gold medal in boxing is not without controversy, with discussion amongst boxing fans that the win was a gift of sorts to his home country, the UK, hosting the Olympics. As BoxingScene.com pointed out, Joshua's first match against Cuba’s Erislandy Savon was widely viewed as controversial for the judges' scoring in his favor. The same was true in the final, in which he took on Italy’s Roberto Cammarelle.

If not that, perhaps this is a way to promote the fight further and highlight that it's the first time Jake Paul is entering as a massive underdog. Readers may remember that Paul received an official ranking on the WBA charts. After some controversy, the ranking was retracted, with critics on both sides arguing over whether it was fair.

Most experienced boxers will agree that Jake Paul has taken on plenty of notable fighters, but has been incredibly selective in who he'll fight. He's mainly taken on fighters who are substantially older, smaller, or less experienced in boxing than he is. Despite that, his bouts have been among the most talked-about boxing matches over the past couple of years. Shouldn't that count for something?

I'm sure Paul hopes that by accepting a fight with a skilled opponent, he's moving closer to securing his long-awaited dream of a championship fight. Win or lose, taking on what some might consider a "stunt fight" could be what it takes to sway critics and start taking him more seriously as a professional fighter.

Whatever the intention behind his posts is, I'm grateful and hype to watch Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua on Netflix on December 19th. I think, for the first time since I started watching this journey, I may even be rooting for Paul to see if he can come out on top this time.

One could argue that Mike Tyson was his most experienced competitor to date, but once they got in the ring, it was clear he wasn't in the same fighting shape he had been. Perhaps Paul knew that, which was why he was showboating and doing his usual antics while training.

Anthony Joshua has everything to lose in dropping a fight to Jake Paul, so I don't expect him to go easy on the professional fighter. I also don't imagine Netflix or anyone involved with the promotion wants accusations of rigging to pop up again, especially with the current number of sports betting scandals. In short, I don't think anyone is throwing this match, so Paul needs to cut the crap and take the fight seriously.

For viewers, I don't see any reason to miss this fight. Either we'll finally see Jake Paul humbled and taken down by an opponent who should beat him, or he'll overcome the odds as a true underdog and earn the hype he's cultivated for himself these past couple of years. Hey, if he wins this, he may even be on the path to that title shot he so desperately wants. Given the stakes, I'd like to see him be a little more serious in his interviews.

We'll see if we see a change in his demeanor as the fight draws nearer, or if Jake Paul continues his trolling and teasing of Anthony Joshua as we wait for the fight on December 19th. I'll be clearing my schedule to watch, and maybe drinking a coffee or two before the main event, based on how long the previous fight cards have gone.

However, now sports pundit Ariel Helwani is entering the chat with a key piece of defense.

Assuming he wins, of course, because should he lose, the narrative would then shift to a massive turning point in Paul's career.

It wasn't just Muhammad Ali who took a promotional fight for the money in his career, either. Ariel Helwani continued with examples that, honestly, make Joshua's bout with Paul sound more official than some events pro boxers have participated over the years:

I would argue that Anthony Joshua is giving the world what it wants: a worthy opponent for Jake Paul. He has the skills that talented MMA fighters lacked when they boxed Paul, and isn't well past his prime like Mike Tyson. The world wants to see the young fighter take on an actual challenge, and Joshua appears more than willing to oblige.

If there's any concern, it may be that Jake Paul is risking an actual threat to his life stepping into a ring against Anthony Joshua. Unlike someone like Mike Tyson, whose prime was well in the past, Joshua just fought for the IBF heavyweight title back in 2024. That bout ended with him being knocked out in the fifth round by professional boxer Daniel Dubois. He's still a prizefighter and, in terms of accomplishments, Paul is well out of his league.

That said, Paul aims to become a professional boxing champion. He earned a professional ranking earlier this year, though it was later removed amid controversy. If he wants to earn a title shot, he's going to have to take on someone relevant who has competed for titles, and that's where Anthony Joshua comes in. I wonder if others felt the same, because for the first time in a very long time, he's taking a fight that will be a major challenge.

Anthony Joshua Is An Overwhelming Favorite In His Fight With Jake Paul

British boxer Anthony Joshua may not have the same level of mainstream name recognition as Jake Paul, but he has established a reputation for himself in the boxing world. In 32 fights, he's 28-4 and has ended 25 of those fights by knockout. He was a gold medalist in boxing at the 2012 Olympic Games and, although that was over a decade ago, he has had a couple of high-profile fights a year since then and won a couple of championships.

In short, he's a legitimate professional boxer. While Joshua is still about seven years older than Jake Paul, early betting odds from Sportsbetting.ag list him as an overwhelming favorite to win the fight at -1500 odds. The odds of Joshua beating Paul are so high that most bettors wouldn't consider taking that, opting instead to go for Paul as the underdog at +800. For those who have no frame of reference for what these odds mean, Paul was a -225 favorite to beat Mike Tyson, according to ESPN, and he dominated the majority of that bout.

Jones Jr. spoke with talkSPORT BET in November 2025, ahead of what was supposed to be the week of Paul’s latest Netflix fight, sharing his take that Jake Paul and other influencers’ involvement with the sport is indeed driving interest. However, in comparing it to a “sideshow,” the former world champ believes those personalities are overshadowing the sport biggest talents, saying:

Logan Paul just celebrated a major accomplishment, as he’s now a married man. The (highly paid) 30-year-old media personality exchanged vows with model Nina Agdal, with whom he shares a daughter. Agdal and Paul exchanged vows in Lake Como, Italy this past week during an expensive-looking ceremony. Unsurprisingly, among the guests was Logan’s younger brother, Jake, who seemed to enjoy the festivities. Wildly enough, though, Jake got into a “fight” with the couple’s large cake, and the video of that is so addictive.

Throughout his time in Italy, 28-year-old Jake Paul really seemed to be soaking up the experience. He took to his Instagram to share photos and videos that showcase Logan’s wedding ceremony, scenic views and more. In spite of all that, though, it’s very difficult not to take notice of the cake video Jake shared. In the clip, Jake can be seen taking jabs at the cake while Logan roots him on. At the same time, plenty of guests surrounded Jake as he sought to put a dent in the large pastry. Take a look:

First and foremost, this kind of situation feels so on-brand for the Paul brothers that it actually hurts. The two are known for their over-the-top antics, which typically go viral, so this definitely tracks. In the video (which has over 99,000 likes as of this writing), Jake seemed to be living for the moment, though. As can be seen, after he finished punching into the cake, he and Logan embraced. Needless to say, I think that’s one wedding night that the guests won’t soon forget and, all the while, I won’t forget this cake video.

It also makes sense that Jake Paul – who knows some people dislike him – would have the urge to fight the cake, given that he’s a professional boxer. He’s had matches with more than a few stars over the years, and 2024 marked arguably the most publicized match of his career. Paul fought Mike Tyson in a live-streamed match that’s still available for Netflix subscription holders. While Paul emerged victorious, a number of people criticized him before and after the bout for taking on Tyson, who was 58 at the time of the match.

Paul vs. Tyson – as well as the former’s matches with other aging boxers – is now seemingly being referenced in the comment section of the cake video as well. One commentator referred to the cake as “a retired UFC fighter,” while another said “that cake was 59” years of age. Nevertheless, Paul continues to carve out his path in the boxing business, as he hit a milestone earlier this year when he was ranked 14th among the fighters in the cruiserweight division of the WBA. Now, some believe he deserves a title shot.

Getting away from the fighting aspect of all this, Logan Paul and Nina Agdal’s wedding seemed to be quite lovely. Jake posted a brief video of the couple exchanging vows and captioned it with, “I’ve seriously been crying.” On his Instagram story, Jake also posted a photo featuring himself, his fiancé, Jutta Leerdam, as well as his brother and new sister-in-law. As someone who’s been interested in visiting Italy, I can definitely appreciate the Pauls’ decision to get married there. On the other hand, as someone who enjoys good cake, I’m feeling a way that Jake went in so hard on damaging his brother and sister-in-law’s. It’s certainly possible that there was more than one cake at the wedding but, if not, I hope the bride and groom at least got to taste it first.

The young boxer has no shortage of haters, including those considered his peers in the business, but even they should back the idea of seeing Jake Paul under the brightest of lights, looking for his first major title. I'm sure that's a big ask for some, but trust me, this is in everyone's best interest.

Jake Paul Is The Biggest Star Boxing Has Going For It

While their antics aren't always the most polite or sportsmanlike, the Paul brothers have forced their way into the mainstream when it comes to combat sports. Keep in mind, Jake Paul fought his first professional fight in 2020, and he's already technically able to get a title shot in one official organization. For comparison, cruiserweight Gilberto Ramirez had his first professional fight in 2009, and is only four years older than Paul. What Paul has done in this short of a career is truly remarkable, and even if he isn't the biggest talent in boxing, he's undoubtedly one of its biggest stars.

Jake Paul Will Finally Be Forced To Prove His Legitimacy As A Fighter

After losing celebrities like Shaquille O'Neal a lot of money betting against him, Jake Paul's professional ranking puts him in a position that I'd say he hasn't been in since he began his professional fighting career. Whether he's competing for the world title or taking on any of the fighters above him, he's going to enter the fight as an underdog.

Even if he's competing for the championship in his first fight, Jake Paul will finally be forced to prove he's a worthy fighter to all of his supporters and critics. Once he takes on someone proven to be a top talent, I'm sure people will take the comments from other fighters like Conor McGregor less seriously.

The world has tuned in to watch Jake Paul defeat former UFC stars and retired boxing legends, and honestly, I don't think they could be any more invested than they are currently. I believe that both Paul supporters and critics want to see him fight legitimate contending boxers at this stage in his career, and will be invested in seeing whether he can prove he's as good as he says he is. We'll either get to see him rise to the occasion or take a big loss. I think either way, people will be thrilled, and that's good for the Paul brand.

For now, we can just sit back and wait and see who Jake Paul plans on challenging in his next big boxing match. Whoever it is, I'm just hoping I'll be able to watch it with a Netflix subscription or on some other major streamer rather than pay pay-per-view pricing.

Jake Paul's latest fight wasn't nearly as hyped as his big bout with Mike Tyson, but it was unquestionably more significant in regards to his career. "El Gallo" took on former boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. over the weekend, and after securing a victory, he's now a ranked fighter in the World Boxing Association.

As TMZ reported, Jake Paul is now the 14th-ranked professional fighter in the cruiserweight division when it comes to the WBA. This is a huge accomplishment for the fighter, as an official ranking now makes it possible for him to get a championship title shot against Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramírez, who also holds the World Boxing Organization cruiserweight title. Although there's no active conversation about it, a scenario exists where Paul could challenge for the unified title of two professional boxing organizations.

As is often the case when it comes to Jake Paul, the reactions are all over the place. I think the only thing the internet is unified on is that he shouldn't join the WWE, and Paul agrees with them. As has been the case after every win, however, there's another question on whether this new accomplishment was earned, or if boxing is just desperate to have a fighter with mainstream appeal.

I think it's possible that many things can be true at the same time. While Jake Paul has not taken the most conventional route to boxing fame, he's one of the most well-known names in the sport at the moment. If he does manage to earn a title shot, one has to imagine there would be a bidding war to stream the fight with a Netflix subscription or elsewhere.

Paul has stated in the past that he wants a title fight and that his ultimate goal is to win a boxing championship. At the same time, I think it's fair to say the 14 fighters ranked above him are a cut above the quality of opponents he's faced in the past, and he might have to face at least one or two of them and prove critics who have accused him of rigging matches that he's worthy of a title shot. Or, he might skip the line and get a shot based on the potential money to be made. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Jake Paul is flying high after his latest victory, so we'll have to wait and see when he settles down and announces who his next opponent will be before the 2025 TV schedule wraps up. Hopefully, it's one of the other ranked fighters in the WBA, so we can see if he deserves to be a part of this upper echelon of fighters or not.

Confidence and bravado are two words that many would easily associate with Jake and Logan Paul, as the brothers have made a career out of taking over whatever entertainment space they infiltrate. They're now moving into full-on reality television with Paul American becoming available for those with Max subscriptions, so I was shocked to hear Jake Paul speaking humbly about his potential to become a WWE Superstar alongside his brother.

As Logan is preparing for WrestleMania 41 and other upcoming WWE events, Jake Paul made it clear he'll be cheering his brother on from outside the ring, and that's exactly where he's comfortable within that world. Speaking with Newsweek, Jake was asked about teaming up with his brother for a pro wrestling event, and I was stunned to hear him admit that he doesn't think he could be a WWE superstar:

I can't believe Jake Paul admitted he doesn't think he could excel within the WWE at his current capacity, especially given all he's accomplished over the past year. I would wager that the guy who defeated Mike Tyson in a boxing ring would feel capable of tackling any challenge, or at least saying that he could do it. But apparently there are limitations to his confidence.

While it wasn't mentioned in the interview, I did wonder if Jake Paul's response was motivated by his appearance at Crown Jewel 2022. Logan's boxer brother had a cameo spot in his match against Roman Reigns, landing the most comedically fake punches on the Usos. While we know wrestling is scripted and the idea isn't to hurt any performer intentionally, the punches were meme'd by fans and might've ruined any chance he has of making it big in the wrestling organization.

While professional wrestling matches are off the table, it does sound like Jake Paul is serious about transitioning into MMA. While he once had aspirations of challenging boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez, he's now talking about going into the octagon to take on a long-time rival, saying:

Diaz hasn't fought professionally in the UFC since 2022, which might be why he hasn't signed the contract to fight. I can't deny that I'd love to see Jake Paul try his luck in the world of MMA even more than I'd want to see him within the more structured workflow of the WWE.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with all that Logan Paul has achieved since becoming a WWE superstar. He's had one of the best runs of any celebrity who appeared in the WWE, which makes me wary about the corporation trying to make lightning strike twice with Jake.

No doubt Jake Paul has seen how much work his brother puts in to reach his level of acclaim in the WWE, and I'm hoping to see that in Paul American. The series will document the brothers' lives, and while we won't be seeing them have a traditional boxing match like we initially thought, the brothers hinted about them fighting during filming. If these two will never box each other, I guess this will have to do.

The debut episode of the series has now dropped, and it includes the brothers discussing their path to success. While it did take some time, Jake Paul noted it was after three years in L.A. that the brothers reached the top of their platform of choice, saying:

Of course, even being the biggest Vloggers on YouTube doesn’t necessarily reveal just how successful the pair became. What does that mean in terms of actual income? Well, apparently it means tens of millions of dollars in a single year, even if not only from YouTube specifically. In any case, that was almost a decade ago! Logan Paul explained:

While I can believe that being the biggest Vloggers on YouTube is certainly enough to make somebody rich, a number like this is well beyond what I would have guessed, especially back in 2017. When YouTube was their only real outlet, it was enough to create fans who not only watched all their videos and boosted their ad revenue, but also bought the merch.

Now, Logan Paul does say the $50 million number is gross, so the actual profit, the money they made, is something less than that. But even if the Paul Brothers’ costs were also in the millions of dollars, they’re still clearing a lot of money.

And that was in 2017. Today, the two brothers are more famous than they’ve ever been. Logan Paul is wrestling in the WWE, while Jake Paul boxed Mike Tyson on Netflix. While a lot of their money isn’t coming through YouTube anymore, maybe not even most of it, their outside endeavors have likely only made their YouTube work more popular.

Time will tell how successful Paul American will be, but if the brothers’ existing fans turn out for it, it will certainly be watched by a lot of people. This could mean more seasons of the show and a lot more money in the pockets of Jake and Logan Paul. I am clearly in the wrong business.

Just in case anyone thinks the elder brother is trolling fans, the news was confirmed by both Max and Jake Paul, who posted a similar message on his social media. The news is a shock to many on the internet, considering neither brother has mentioned wanting to challenge the other to a boxing match as of late.

Last we heard from Jake, he was hoping to pursue a boxing championship. I'm not sure fighting his brother Logan, who last boxed Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition in 2021, will get him much closer to that goal, but it'll no doubt secure him a major payday.

As for Logan, he was just on Monday Night Raw the night before the announcement, discussing his plans for WrestleMania 41, which happens in Vegas on Saturday, April 19th, and Sunday, April 20th. With less than a month to prepare for the upcoming WWE event after the fight, one has to wonder if the organization took issue with him potentially getting bloodied up by his brother right before whatever is planned for him in wrestling.

As far as who is the favorite going into this boxing match, I would say that Jake Paul has an overwhelming advantage over his older brother. He has more experience as a professional boxer under his belt, though admittedly, he's gotten most of those victories by fighting opponents he's vastly younger or bigger than. As wild as it might be to say this fight could be more entertaining than when Paul took on Mike Tyson, I think it'll be interesting to see how he fares against someone closer to his age.

Some may be aware that Inside the NBA’s Charles Barkley is a gambler, and doesn’t care what people think about his hobby. Though he apparently doesn’t put down cash on the table like his co-star does, Shaq has put down his share of bets in his time as well. Before Paul vs. Tyson, “The Diesel” popped up on The Dan Patrick Show to discuss a few topics. Talk eventually turned to the highly promoted bout, which Shaq was sure Tyson would win. He also revealed that he bet a reasonably hefty on the fight:

I don't think he's alone in that sentiment, as many want to see the icon pull through rather than suffer a defeat to someone as antagonistic and, as some would say, as unworthy as Paul, considering the difference in accolades between the two.

Betting Sites Have Jake Paul As The Overall Favorite To Win

It could also be that Sylvester Stallone loves rooting for the underdog, because Mike Tyson is certainly that based on the odds circulating around betting sites. DraftKings currently has Jake Paul as a -200 favorite to win the bout, which means he's being given 66.67% odds of winning. That's not substantial favoritism over Tyson, but the odds are much higher than some may believe.

As someone who observed both Tyson and Paul's public workouts, I can say that while the former is the more skilled fighter, age will be a factor in the bout. Tyson looked pretty sweaty after just a three-minute workout, and even with shorter rounds for this boxing match, he stands a good chance of getting exhausted much quicker than Jake Paul.

I've heard from many people that they're expecting Tyson to knock Paul out, but Vegas has the odds of that happening at +250, which is highly unlikely. Mike Tyson Can Box Circles Around Jake Paul

I don't claim to be a professional boxing analyst but, right off the bat, it was clear who the more technically proficient fighter of the two was. Mike Tyson may be the elder statesman and well past his prime but, during the workouts, those iconic combos looked as devastating as they were decades ago. Tyson seemed to be emphasizing quick head jabs to weave and set up body combos, and that now leads me to think that Lennox Lewis was spot on in guessing that Tyson might use those to slow down his younger opponent. I was also shocked by just how fast Tyson moved, especially in comparison to his opponent.

Jake Paul moved slower and, having watched both workouts back to back, was jarring to see his lack of technical skills. His fastest succession of punches was a quick one-two combo up top, but there was almost zero weaving or anything more complex than just throwing hard punches. He didn't look like someone who could stand against a contemporary championship fighter. So, if I were him, I'd rethink his plan for what would come next if he beat Mike Tyson.

For as good as Mike Tyson looked in the ring, I have to point out that he was sweating profusely by the end of the session. That was a bit concerning to me, because the sparring session was only about three minutes. It now seems clear why the veteran wanted shorter rounds for the fight, and I think there's a good chance of him gassing out early should this go beyond a third round. All of that said, Jake Paul wasn't exactly hopping around at the end of his session either, so maybe that extra weight he's put on will factor into his stamina as well.

Paul Is Bigger, And He Seemed To Be Hitting Harder

While I should emphasize that this was a training session, it seemed clear that Jake Paul was throwing harder punches during his session compared to Mike Tyson. Even if it doesn't mean much, I don't think there's any denying who the physically superior of the two is in this training session. To me, it seems as though Paul has made sure to bulk himself as much as possible to withstand Tyson's devastating blows and hope he can take over the fight in the latter rounds and throw some devastating haymakers.

Of course, that's also assuming that the YouTuber is taking this fight seriously enough to have a game plan. And, considering the fact that he was wearing a chicken wig and still trolling "Iron Mike" during the training, I have to question how dialed in the viral sensation is.

Ultimately, I think it'll depend on what happens in the early rounds, so be sure to pay close attention.

Suffice it to say, many will be watching with their Netflix subscription to see if experience can overcome age, as one of boxing's biggest legends will take on a scrappy fighter decades younger. Much has already been said about what Paul stands to lose if he gets knocked out, but his manager recently drove home how stickily important a subject that is.

With no backup plan in place once again, both fighters seem healthy and primed to square off at AT&T Stadium on November 15th. Jake Paul's manager, Nakisa Bidarian, spoke to THR about what Mike Tyson has to gain while also noting what Paul stands to lose:

The bout proved to some critics that while Paul has shown overwhelming dominance in knocking out former UFC champions and boxers past their prime, facing someone of comparable age and weight is still a challenge for him. I would also argue he's in for a substantial challenge against Mike Tyson, who looks like the most dangerous 58-year-old on the planet. Tyson requested shorter rounds to account for his stamina loss so he could throw more punches. Tyson has a reputation as one of the heaviest hitters in boxing history, but we'll see how hard he's hitting after bouncing back from his recent health scare.

My biggest question following this fight is what will come next for Netflix if it's as big of an event as it seems to be. During one-off events, will we get future fights with Jake Paul or other big names on the platform? With the platform acquiring WWE's Monday Night Raw in 2025 and some NFL games, it seems there is a big push for it to obtain live content, so I would love to see what other big fights could be scheduled in the coming years.

Mike Tyson was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and answered a number of questions about preparing for the fight with Jake Paul. After sharing some broad strokes of his training regimen and why he wanted to fight the young athlete, Kimmel honed in and asked the veteran what he'd been dancing around the whole interview, if he's going to "beat" Paul in the ring. To which Tyson said:

Now, Mike Tyson has said he could beat Jake Paul while speaking at prior press events, but something was chilling about how he said it in this latest TV interview. It's like we're seeing the re-emergence of "Iron Mike" and not just the funny and slightly goofy Tyson that actors like Russell Crowe are concerned we'll lose with this bout.

I think that version of the fighter has always been in there, of course, but I can certainly sense a more aggressive change in his demeanor and how serious he is about this upcoming fight.

Jake Paul Posted A Video Lifting Fake Weights While Wearing A Fat Suit

I'd argue that Jake Paul has taken this fight more seriously than some of his past contests, but I guess it was only a matter of time before his iconic trolling tendencies started to come out. After Tyson previously called him "Fat and funky" at a promotional Netflix press event, Paul seemingly responded on Instagram with the following video:

The video shows Jake Paul in some sort of fat suit, which makes his stomach appear larger than it actually is. Additionally, he's bench-pressing an insane amount of weight, though the plates seem to be props and just for show rather than actual strength training. It'd be a strange video for any other fighter outside of Paul to post, but his fans are used to this kind of stuff.

It looks like Jake Paul is back to trolling Mike Tyson, which I've said previously would be a mistake. The last thing he wants to do is poke the bear and have Tyson believing Paul doesn't consider him a serious contender. I think that's liable to make the former champ train even harder, though he's already intending to beat Paul "very Badly." Is there a worse outcome for the YouTuber than that?

Unless Tyson actually meant he would going to do a very bad job of beating Paul, which doesn't seem confident AT ALL. So we'll assume it's the other way around.

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul is hitting Netflix's upcoming lineup on its rescheduled date of November 15th, which isn't far away, but what happens if Tyson has to back out, as it went when he had a medical emergency over the summer? It's a question worth asking, and Paul was able to give a definitive answer on the current contingency plan, in a manner of speaking.

On the heels of Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi facing off in the live Unfinished Beef special, fans with Netflix subscriptions want to know what to expect for the next big showdown on the streamer if one of the fighters cannot perform. Jake Paul spoke to TMZ Sports about the current backup plan, and whether or not he's concerned about Mike Tyson's readiness, saying:

Having zero backup plan for the eventuality of Mike Tyson being unavailable seems risky, though not entirely surprising. When Tyson missed the original fight date, plans were quickly made for Jake Paul to face bare-knuckle brawler Mike Perry.

Despite it happening on the original date, Netflix did not stream that replacement fight, and it didn't take place in AT&T Stadium, the venue reserved for Tyson vs. Paul. Given that, and the fact that there still aren't any backup plans this time around, it would seem like if these two fighters aren't going to trade blows, Netflix still wouldn't be interested in carrying any substitutions.

Thus far, Mike Tyson hasn't given any reason to suspect he'll be anything less than 100% come fight day. While he was reportedly dealing with complications from an ulcer when the fight was first postponed, he's been pretty active as of late. In addition to uploading pictures from training, Tyson is attending many events, so he's seemingly feeling well enough for this big bout come November.

While his age is a factor, Tyson has asked for certain accommodations made for this match to help compensate for fighting someone thirty years younger than him. The fight will have shorter rounds to encourage both fighters to push the pace, which could prevent Paul from hanging back early and hoping to tire the legend out before starting to fight. Even so, professional boxing matches can be taxing, and we won't know how tired Tyson will or won't be until we see this match.

All we know is that Mike Tyson feels confident he can win and that he was once one of the greatest boxers who ever lived. Whether his past experience will be enough to take on Jake Paul is the big question everyone has and one that some, like actor Russell Crowe, would rather not see answered. In any case, there's no denying that the intrigue is still there to see how this all shakes out and if this fight will happen.

If there's one thing I've learned about Tyson after watching him make cameos in movies and taking recreational drugs, he seems to crave new experiences and adventure. He's basically living out the plot of Rocky Balboa in real life, and I can't think of a bigger adventure than that.

Perhaps what's happening here is that we're seeing Mike Tyson marry the first act of his life to the second. Based on all his responses to the press so far and his fight training videos, he still seems like a fierce competitor. Plus, the money he's making from the Jake Paul bout will almost surely pay for a lot more creative endeavors for the fighter and maybe cybernetic enhancements to improve his body for a rematch should he lose the fight. Hey, Tyson can be a wild dude. I would not put it past him to look into becoming a cyborg!

Paul was asked about his goals in boxing during the fighters’ shared press conference at New York City’s Fanatics Fest, and let the record show, he is definitely not done after Mike Tyson. Paul has taken an extremely untraditional route up the boxing ladder since he started his journey fighting other social media stars, but at some point, he apparently wants to step on a more traditional path and start fighting for championships. Ordinarily, you wouldn’t double take at hearing a successful fighter with a 10-1 record wants to be world champion, but in the case of Paul, it’s extremely noteworthy because it would likely mean a pivot to that more conventional path. Traditionally, if you want to get started in the ring, you take some under-under-undercard fights against relatively innocuous opponents. Then, you use the strength of those wins to progress your way up the card until, eventually, you start getting the chance to fight people fans may have heard of. If you win those, then you start fighting other leading contenders and, if all goes well, get a crack at a world championship at some point and maybe even a headlining slot on a pay-per-view.

That’s not what Jake Paul has done up to this point, however. After beating up some of his fellow YouTubers and viciously KOing former NBA star Nate Robinson, Paul started fighting aging MMA stars with big resumes and light boxing experience in events his company organized and put on. To date, he’s fought and beaten the likes of Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, all in highly publicized PPVs he’s assumedly made a very healthy profit off of. The next of those fights is against Mike Tyson, the biggest name of them all, and it promises to be the most publicized event of Paul’s career. It’s scheduled to take place in AT&T Stadium, which has a capacity of 80,000, and it will be streamed live on Netflix. 

Mike Tyson is obviously one of the most feared and respected heavyweight boxers of all-time, but he’s also pushing 60 and is roughly 30 years older than Jake Paul. The rules have been modified to account for that with two minute rounds instead of three. Fans aren’t quite sure what to expect, as Paul will obviously have a huge speed advantage but could be in trouble if he runs into a big punch, given he’s had 44 knockouts over the course of his career. 

Regardless, and with all due respect to Tyson who is an absolute legend, it’ll still be a sideshow attraction type fight. The jury is still very much out as to whether Paul can compete with real boxers his own age, especially since the one time he tried against Tyson Fury, he lost in a controversial split decision, despite knocking Fury down once. If he wants to pursue championships, he’s going to face a lot tougher competition, and that’s to say nothing of Canelo Alvarez, who he also called out. 

Alvarez is 61-2-2 in his boxing career, but he also typically fights at around 160 pounds. Jake Paul was 200 pounds during his last fight and is rumored to be trying to go up to 220 or 230 for his fight against Tyson. So, Paul could go down that road, which Alvarez might be down for given it could be a huge payday, but that would once again represent a sideshow/ attraction type fight, given the big weight difference. Or he could pursue the more traditional path and start taking on boxers his own size. 

We’ll just have to wait and see what Paul’s next move is. If he beats Tyson, he should have his pick of opponents, whether he wants to go the traditional route or not. 

Earlier this year, it was announced that Mike Tyson and Jake Paul would duke it out in the ring for a live streamed event that would be available to Netflix subscription holders. Plans changed, however, after 58-year-old Tyson suffered a medical emergency, and the bout was delayed from July to November 2024. Tyson seems to be doing well now, and the match is currently set to proceed as scheduled. Amid the hype surrounding the show, plenty of notable fighters have been weighing in on the proceedings, and former Tyson opponent Kevin McBride is the latest to do so. McBride emphatically dropped an F-bomb while giving 27-year-old YouTuber Paul some crucial advice.

Kevin McBride is a member of the select group of combatants who can say they’ve beaten Mike Tyson in the ring. So it’s fair to wonder just what kind of words of wisdom he has to offer Paul as he prepares to do battle with “Iron Mike” himself. McBride discussed the topic during a recent interview with Instant Casino (via The Mirror). When discussing the advice he’d give to Jake Paul, the 51-year-old ex-Irish fighter immediately provided two major notes. And that’s when he dropped that aforementioned expletive, which he seemingly used to greatly emphasize his point:

Believe it or not, Tyson retired after that fight, and his upcoming match with the social media maven will be his first professional match since then. As noted by The Mirror, Tyson used up too much energy throughout his and McBride’s event, allowing his opponent to get the upper hand. McBride went on to share more thoughts about what the Mainstream alum should do when he faces Tyson:

Shortly after the fight was announced, Jake Paul took to trolling his opponent – a move that may or may not have been all that wise. Tyson has also returned to his trash-talking ways, even sharing NSFW thoughts when seeking to intimidate his opponent. One can only speculate as to whether the Cleveland native will take what Kevin McBride said to heart. It may end up being invaluable when that bell finally rings months from now. I know that I’m eager to see whether the social media personality has what it takes to go toe to toe with a former World Heavyweight champion.

Brothers Logan and Jake Paul began their careers as Internet personalities but, since carving out lanes for themselves on the web, they’ve moved into other professional avenues. In addition to going viral for their vlogs, the two have also made waves within the sports world as boxers. They’ve notched their fair share of wins in the ring and received praise from boxing star Tyson Fury and others. Jake, for his part, just recently notched a K.O. victory over an opponent. Logan, meanwhile, hasn’t boxed in some time, prompting someone to ask if he’d ever consider donning his gloves once more. With that, the YouTuber and WWE champ revealed what it would take to get him back in the ring.

Just this past weekend, 27-year-old Jake Paul beat 32-year-old UFC veteran Mike Perry by TKO in a bout that was held in Tampa. Logan (29) was amongst the many people who were present at Amalie Arena to witness his brother’s victory. After the fight, Logan was approached by reporters, who hit him with a number of queries. When asked if he might return to the ring as a boxer one day, the eldest Paul brother said that he doesn’t really have the “desire” to do so right now. Yet, as explained in the YouTube video shared by Fred Talks Fighting, he could be enticed to get back into the sport if one key component of the fight is just right:

So it would seem that the Impaulsive podcast host would need to feel drawn to the ring by an interesting opponent. I suppose that makes sense, considering that in his time, Logan Paul has faced off with the likes of Floyd Maywether and KSI. That Mayweather fight was highly discussed at the time, and the 2021 match ultimately ended with no winner being announced. It’s hard to think of someone who might be a suitable opponent for Paul moving forward, but I’d imagine that there’s at least one competitor out there that could lure him back into that corner of the fighting world.

Of course, Logan Paul also makes a great point in that he’s had a fruitful career with the WWE, since he began working for the organization in 2021. In April of 2022, Paul had a great showing at Wrestlemania 38 and, by that June, he signed a multi-year deal with the aforementioned professional wrestling company and has made a number of in-ring appearances. It might be interesting to see Paul box again but, with his growing career as a wrestler, it’s not hard to see why he’s pleased with what the sports-related work he’s doing now.

As for Jake Paul, following his bout with Mike Perry, he’s set to take on Mike Tyson in a fight that will be available to stream live with a Netflix subscription later this year. The highly touted matchup was set to take place this month, but the event hit a setback when it was delayed due to 58-year-old Tyson experiencing an ulcer flare-up. Paul seems incredibly confident in his ability to beat “Iron Mike” though, prior to his health situation, Tyson’s training videos seemed to show that the former Heavyweight Champion of the world was still a force to be reckoned with.

The jury is out on whether Jake Paul will actually succeed in beating Mike Tyson following his latest victory, and the same is true of the possibility of seeing Logan box again. While I won’t even begin to speculate about what might happen, what I will say is that when there’s a matter involving the Paul brothers, nothing seems like an impossibility.

It was another good night for Jake Paul. The influencer turned boxer delivered his latest KO, this time to journeyman MMA fighter Mike Perry in the sixth round, but not everyone watching at home was impressed by his victory. In fact, UFC star turned actor Conor McGregor, no stranger to boxing himself, hit up social media afterwards and absolutely unloaded on Paul. 

In an extended rant, McGregor called Paul out for his weight advantage, heavily implied he was taking performance enhancing drugs and criticized him for calling out Mike Tyson post-fight, given the legend’s age and recent major health problems. It’s pretty clear how McGregor feels about Paul, but why he felt the need to call him out so aggressively is still an open question. Some are, of course, saying he’s probably angling for his own fight down the road, but there’s also just a distinct chance he’s out here hating for the love of being a hater. McGregor has never been one to hold back his feelings on any issues, and Jake Paul is certainly someone who inspires a lot of feelings, even from those involved in the sport who don’t traditionally speak their minds as often as McGregor.

The main complaints about Paul are typically centered around his choice of opponents. Rather than taking on professional boxers, the influencer has typically taken on bigger name MMA fighters who aren’t as experienced with boxing. As a general rule, these fighters have also been older and many of them have given up a weight advantage. In this most recent fight, Mike Perry weighed in at 196 pounds and change, while Paul weighed in at exactly 200. That might not sound like a big difference, but Perry actually fought at 184 for a fight earlier this year and Paul was reportedly around 230 pounds when his fight with Tyson was cancelled. Not surprisingly, during the actual fight, Paul looked noticeably bigger than Perry.

As for McGregor, his career seems to be at a bit of a crossroads. He ventured into acting for a well-received turn in the Road House remake, but his return to the UFC Octagon was cancelled when he had to pull out of a fight due to an injury. Some fans think we’ll never see the popular Irishman square up again, but McGregor himself is convinced he’ll return sometime later this year once he heals up. 

A possible fight between McGregor and Paul would have its own huge size difference. McGregor typically fights at around 170 pounds, while Paul had to really cut weight to make the 200 pound cut-off for the Perry fight. Given the hypothetical match-up would sell an insane number of PPVs and fill a big arena, however, you can never totally take it off the table.

We’ll see. In the short-term, Paul seems very focused on fighting Mike Tyson. Their original bout was scheduled to be broadcast by Netflix and would have easily been the highest profile moment of Paul’s career, even if it wouldn’t have exactly helped with the allegations that he only fights people who are past their primes.

It was scheduled to take place at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, which is where the Cowboys play their home games. No one knew exactly how many people would tune in or buy tickets, but it seemed likely to be a huge success, as the media coverage and social media hype was palpable.

Unfortunately, Tyson, who is 58 years old, suffered a medical incident on a plane. He was later diagnosed with an ulcer that had flared up, and doctors pulled him from the fight. Right now, the bout is tentatively supposed to take place down the road, but given the general public’s apprehension about the thirty year age gap and Tyson’s recent medical issues, many of us are in wait and see mode.

Beyond being friends with Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, Hulk Hogan has another bizarre connection to this potential super fight. Hogan has alleged for years that Vince McMahon wanted to have him face off against Tyson in 1990 in the WWE, but as Atletifo noted, plans were derailed when Tyson lost to Buster Douglas in the Tokyo Dome. McMahon extended the offer to Douglas, who then served as a guest referee in a match between Hogan and Randy Savage on Saturday Night's Main Event. 

While Jake Paul has gone to great lengths to dismiss rumors of fake rules and rigging the fight for entertainment, Hulk Hogan confirmed he did ask the brother of United States Champion Logan Paul if that was what was happening here. Unsurprisingly, he got the same answer from The Problem Child he's given publicly to those who have asked the same: 

I believe Jake Paul when he says that, beyond the fact that he's had no problem knocking out older fighting champions prior to this. I'm not sure Jake Paul could fake a fight if he tried, giving him no choice but to go all-out on Mike Tyson. 

It should also be noted that while Paul was trolling Tyson at first, he's actually put on quite a bit of weight for the fight. For all the criticism he gets for his choice of opponents and antics, it does legitimately seem like he was preparing for a real fight with the legend and hoping he didn't get defeated by someone decades older than him. Hopefully, we will eventually get to see these two square off, and maybe Hulk Hogan can be ringside to deliver a leg drop to whoever loses.

The 32-year-old Perry later joined the BKFC, where he currently holds an undefeated record with wins over notable fighters like Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, and Thiago Alves. At this time, the details of the alleged bout are unknown, but Perry is much closer in age to Jake Paul and, some would argue, a much more challenging opponent than many he's previously faced. 

Is The November Fight With Mike Tyson Still Happening?

Mike Perry fighting Jake Paul on July 20th feels like Mike Tyson was just replaced, which isn't uncommon in the fighting world. What remains to be seen is whether Paul will turn around and fight Tyson in November, which was the rescheduled date of the big Netflix live event.

Through further details reported by Netflix’s in-house publication Tudum, anyone who’s purchased tickets to see Paul vs. Tyson in person doesn’t have to worry about rebooking their seats. However, those who may be unable to make the currently unscheduled makeup date will be able to get refunds through the relevant point of sale.

British boxer KSI thinks it's a “lose-lose” situation because, if Paul wins, he’d merely further the notion that he’s only capable of beating opponents that are older than him. And, on that same token, such a loss for “The Baddest Man on the Planet” would be a stain on his legacy. Even UFC boss Dana White is “not thrilled” with the fight, though he understands the financial incentive to hold such a bout.

I'm not sure there's anyone who would generate as much hype as an opponent for Jake Paul than Mike Tyson unless they could bring in another high-profile fighter Paul has trolled, Conor McGregor. With that said, Paul is training to fight at the heavyweight level, and McGregor has only fought at welterweight at maximum in his career, which is a full three weight classes under. While I want to believe Paul that the Tyson fight will still happen, I wouldn't blame the streamer if calls were already going out to plan who could potentially step in for Tyson if he's ultimately unable to be in the ring.

The eyes of the boxing community quickly turned to “Iron” Mike Tyson on Sunday evening after word spread that the 57-year-old former champion suffered a medical emergency on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. Tyson has been the center of conversation ever since he agreed to box Jake Paul in July, with everyone from UFC boss Dan White to recent Road House co-star Connor McGregor voicing an opinion on the bout. Naturally, the moment that news of Tyson’s medical flare up made the rounds, fans became concerned that this might jeopardize the sporting event, so Tyson’s reps had to weight in. 

First, Mike Tyson’s reps had to clear up a prevalent rumor that the boxer’s medical emergency was the reason that the flight to L.A. was delayed more than two hours. As it turns out, the flight was delayed due to an air conditioning malfunction, and had nothing to do with Tyson’s health. As for Mike Tyson’s Sunday night complications, his representatives have said, in a statement issued to The Mirror:

That’s all well and good, but what does this mean for Mike Tyson’s planned fight against Jake Paul in July? Will this be the beginning of Tyson making excuses as to why he won’t get in the ring with Paul? Even though Mike will be 58 when he steps in the ring, most still think he’s lethal with gloves on. Well, have no fear, as Tyson’s reps confirmed to The Mirror that the bout will go on, as planned. 

Passengers who rode the flight with Mike Tyson reported to In Touch that messages were conveyed to the flight that medical professionals were needed, with about 30 minutes to go in the flight. When the plane landed in Los Angeles, the passengers apparently were delayed another 25 minutes while paramedics boarded the plane to attend to Tyson. Said one eyewitness:

Wherever Mike Tyson goes, he’s going to command that attention. But he also brings that heat, especially when trash-talking his opponents, or claiming he’ll “go raw and naked” for his anticipated battle in Texas. Listen, I don’t care how old Mike Tyson is. I’m never stepping in a ring with the man. Godspeed, Jake Paul. Godspeed.

In an Instagram story post, Paul trolled Tyson with a message, which included the declaration that it’s “time to put Iron Mike to sleep.” Tyson eventually responded to said message by simply saying, “We’ll see.” The 57-year-old boxer mostly stayed quiet after his fight with the Internet personality was confirmed. However, that changed at the recent press conference held in promotion of the fight.

The Hangover alum took more than a few jabs at the YouTuber when they were sitting at the podium and addressing the press. While throwing verbal haymakers at the 27-year-old (as seen on YouTube), Mike Tyson shot down the notion that his adversary is in his prime. In his mind, the social media maven – who has notably gained weight before the fight – isn’t “lean and mean, he’s fat and funky.” What might’ve really stood out to the crowd, though, is a NSFW comment Tyson made in regard to Paul’s dance video after hearing that his in-ring foe wanted to kiss him: 

Needless to say, I’m not sure younger boxing fans may have expected those comments, which were shared in a video clip on X by Championship Rounds. What’s interesting about this, however, is that it’s far from the first time that the Asphalt City alum has dished out such inflammatory statements when trying to intimidate a fellow fighter.

Iron Mike Has A Long History Of Talking Trash

Anyone who was around to watch Mike Tyson in his prime surely know that he never minced words when it came to discussing other fighters, especially ahead of a fight. Lennox Lewis was one of the many fighters that found himself on the receiving end of Tyson’s brutally honest remarks. During one interview, which was captured on YouTube, Tyson didn’t hold back hold when sharing his belief that Lennox wouldn’t be able to match up to him:

Both men would ultimately meet in the ring in 2002, with Lennox Lewis, winning by knockout in the eighth round. Mike Tyson’s remarks weren’t limited to fighters either, as he also made provocative remarks towards media pundits and spectators. One of the most notable instances of him speaking to the latter occurred when someone yelled that he needed to be put in a straight jacket. Tyson furiously responded by threatening to commit sexual acts against the man and by hurling LGBTQ-related slurs at him. Per a clip shared by X’s @EzeWrites_, the tirade ended with Tyson saying, “I’ll fuck you ‘til you love me…”

For the most part though, Iron Mike has let his skills speak for themselves, as he’s shared training videos that drive home the assumption that he still packs a powerful punch. Speaking after the press conference on whether he can best Jake Paul, the veteran fighter said, “I can beat him.” He also said that he warned Paul to fight like his “life depends on it because it does.” There’s not telling who will emerge victorious in the eventual bout but, if the match is as testy as this war of words is right now, it should be an intense event.
