January Jones is one of those stars in Hollywood who never seems to age. At 45, she’s still rocking a bikini and giving fans the summer energy we need right now. (Seriously I don’t know where you live but it could not warm up soon enough in my zip code.) Of course, Mad Men fans in particular have a slew of thoughts. 

This weekend, the Mad Men and Last Man on Earth (which once tied together) star threw on a classic white bikini with scalloped edges and took to the great outdoors. Her hair blowing in the wind, she danced carefree to Ed Sheeran and Travis Scott’s “Antisocial.” The post blew up over the weekend, probably both because she looked great and because it was giving the summer vibes many of us have been ready for. 

Mad Men fans were all over this post, with some of the top comments taking shots at Jon Hamm’s Don Draper, who is with Jones’ Betty early on in the series but who splits up with her part way through the AMC series after he cheats. Their relationship is contentious after that, as Betty stays in Don’s home after they split -- even after she’s remarried -- and later denies Don’s request to take the kids at the end of Mad Men. Some fans think Don Draper got it wrong, with some of the top comments on the post being:  

• "Dang how could Don Draper ever cheat on Betty."
• "Don Draper dropped the ball."
• "I dunno what Don Draper was thinking 😮"

Of course, like other women of a certain age before her,  January Jones is a mom and leading lady who is not immune to trolls. Baywatch star Donna D’Errico clapped back at trolls upset she wore a bikini in her mid-fifties. While Jones is a decade younger, she’s still getting some of those comments as well, including one follower who wrote, “ She needs help. Seeking validation by posting half naked.” 

The good news is that others were more supportive, writing, “Awwww yeah! It’s January Jones bikini season again!”

I’m more inclined to be in the latter group. The big trend this summer has seemed to be the black bikini, with Halle Berry, Kim Kardashian and more rocking the look. While it may be the year of the black bikini, I really like January Jones’ fresh take on swimwear. White’s still a neutral color, and one that pops with the actress' blonde hair. Plus, I’m always a big fan of anything scalloped, even if that look was already everywhere just a few short years ago. It's feminine without being cutesy, and I've been happy to see more of the style this season at places like Free People and Lulus. 

I’m hedging there will be more neutral swimsuit looks in the weeks to come, but I’m not sure any will hold a candle to the summer energy this one is giving. Though I'm more than happy to see what other styles are running around as summer swiftly approaches. 

Jamie Foxx is a man who knows his way around action-packed movies, from Law Abiding Citizen and Django Unchained to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and last year’s Project Power. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (no, he’s not dead) is also quite well-versed in playing characters thrust into dangerous situations, most notably from his time as Jaime Lannister on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Now these two, along with several other actors, will be teaming for a new action-thriller titled God Is A Bullet.

Nick Cassavetes, the director of movies like The Notebook and Alpha Dog, has been tapped to helm and write the script for God Is A Bullet, making this his first directorial endeavor since 2014’s The Other Woman. Based on the same-named book by Boston Teran, the story follows vice detective Bob Hightower, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s character, whose ex-wife is murdered by a santanic cult that’s also kidnapped his daughter. Becoming frustrated with the botched official investigations, Hightower quits his job and goes undercover to infiltrate the cult so he can find its leader. Jamie Foxx is reportedly playing “The Ferryman,” who is a “pivotal” supporting character.

Along with Jamie Foxx and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, God Is A Bullet’s cast will also include Mad Men’s January Jones, It Follows’ Maika Monroe and A Star is Born’s Andrew Dice Clay. Monroe will play Case Hardin, an escapee from the cult who helps out Bob Hightower, but no information was provided about Jones and Clay’s characters. Preproduction has already began in Mexico City, and cameras are expected to start rolling on May 24. Here’s what Nick Cassavetes had to say to Deadline about tackling God Is A Bullet:

I am excited to get God Is A Bullet into production with my friend and producer/financier, Michael Mendelsohn. It’s a magnificent, ultra-dark work that is somehow both intensely frightening and literate, inspired by true events, with the most amazing cast of actors.

The announcement of Jamie Foxx’s participation in God Is A Bullet follows his eventful 2020. Along with the aforementioned Project Power, which premiered on Netflix, he also starred in Pixar’s Soul, which recently won two Golden Globes and has been nominated for three Oscars. Foxx’s other recent credits include Baby Driver, Robin Hood and Just Mercy, while in addition to God Is A Bullet, his upcoming projects include producing Geechee, starring alongside John Boyega in They Cloned Tyrone and reprising Electro for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

As for Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, while Game of Thrones understandably took up a lot of his time last decade, he’s also starred in some movies here and there, including Oblivion, Gods of Egypt, Shot Caller and Domino. Later this year, he’ll star in the Netflix movie Against the Ice, but God Is A Bullet sounds like a good platform for him to draw in new fans.

Nearly a whole decade ago, Fox unveiled X-Men: First Class, which followed the early adventures of the mutant-based superhero team. Featuring the rising talents of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Zoe Kravitz as our title-bearing X-Men, the early years of the Marvel property served as a great profile builder for its soon-to-be high profile cast, while also providing prominent supporting roles for Rose Byrne, Kevin Bacon, and January Jones. In the years following its release, the young ensemble has worked on several noteworthy projects, particularly following Lawrence's Oscar win. But what is the X-Men: First Class cast doing now? James McAvoy (Charles Xavier/Professor X)

As Charles Xavier, i.e. Professor X, a telepathic mutant who becomes the founder of the X-Men, James McAvoy took on the lead role in Fox's superhero prequel blockbuster, X-Men: First Class. Most notably, McAvoy is known for his Golden Globe-nominated performance in Atonement. Next, the actor will be heard in the video game, Twelve Minutes. He'll also star in My Son and narrate The Bridge.

Michael Fassbender (Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto)

In the role of Erik Lehnsherr, i.e. Magneto, a mutant who can manipulate and generate electromagnetic fields and befriends Xavier before they become fierce enemies, Michael Fassbender played a formidable ally-turned-antagonist in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class. Away from this film franchise, Fassbender was Oscar-nominated for Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave and his titular turn in Steve Jobs. He also starred in Hunger, Shame, The Counselor, Macbeth (2015), Assassin's Creed, Jane Eyre, A Dangerous Method, Prometheus, Alien: Covenant, Frank, Slow West, The Snowman, and Centurion. Additionally, the actor appeared in supporting roles in 300, Fish Tank, Inglorious Basterds, Jonah Hex, and Haywire. Also, Fassbender played Magneto in X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix.

Jennifer Lawrence (Raven Darkholme/Mystique)

Playing the part of Raven Darkholme, a shape-shifting mutant who joins Erik's Brotherhood of Mutants, Jennifer Lawrence took on a chameleon of a character in X-Men: First Class. Most notably, Lawrence is an Oscar-winning actress for her leading role in David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook. She's also the star of The Hunger Games franchise. Her other notable film credits include Winter's Bone, American Hustle, and Joy, all for which she received Oscar nominations, as well as mother!, Serena, The Beaver, Like Crazy, and Passengers. She also reprised her role as Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past and Apocalypse. On TV, additionally, Lawrence starred in The Bill Engvall Show. The actress was also seen in Monk, Medium, and Cold Case.

Most recently, Jennifer Lawrence starred in Red Sparrow and Dark Phoenix. Following a brief acting break, Lawrence will next be seen in Adam McKay's Don't Look Up. She'll also star in Red, White, and Water, which she also produced. Additionally, the actress is attached to Mob Girl, which she'll produce as well.

January Jones (Emma Frost)

As Emma Frost, a mutant telepath who can change her body into a hard diamond, January Jones played a prominent supporting player in X-Men: First Class. Most notably, Jones is known for her Emmy-nominated performance in AMC's Mad Men. She also starred in Fox's The Last Man on Earth. Her other television credits include The Politician, Law & Order, Huff, and Get Real.

In film, meanwhile, January Jones appeared in Unknown, Seeking Justice, Sweetwater, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, American Wedding, Full Frontal, Bandits, Love Actually, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, We Are Marshall, Good Kill, The Glass House, Anger Management, Pirate Radio, and Taboo. Prior to acting, Jones worked as a professional model. Most recently, she was seen in Netflix's short-lived Spinning Out.

Nicholas Hoult (Hank McCoy/Beast)

In the role of Hank McCoy, a genius scientist whose mutant abilities turn him into a blue, hulking beast, Nicholas Hoult played a volatile character in X-Men: First Class. Most notably, Hoult is known for his breakthrough role in About a Boy. He also starred in Mad Max: Fury Road, A Single Man, Warm Bodies, Jack the Giant Slayer, The Favourite, Tolkien, Clash of the Titans, and Kill Your Friends. Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert)

Playing the part of Moira MacTaggert, a CIA agent who befriends our lead mutants, Rose Bryne had a prominent supporting role in Fox's X-Men: First Class. She's best known for Bridesmaids, the Insidious films, the Neighbors movies, 28 Weeks Later, Star Wars: Episode II —Attack of the Clones, and Peter Rabbit. Byrne's other film credits include Marie Antoinette, Sunshine, Troy, Get Him to the Greek, The Place Beyond the Pines, Annie (2014), Spy, Juliet Naked, Instant Family, and The Internship. She can also be heard in Jexi and I Am Mother. Additionally, Byrne returned for X-Men: Apocalypse.

Zoe Kravitz (Angel Salvadore)

Playing the part of Angel Salvadore, a mutant who possesses acidic saliva, Zoe Kravitz provided a supporting turn in X-Men: First Class. She's also known for Mad Max: Fury Road, the Divergent series, Dope, Rough Night, and the Fantastic Beasts franchise. Edi Gathegi (Armando Munoz/Darwin)

Oliver Platt (Man in Black Suit)

As Man in Black Suit, a CIA agent and head of Division X, Oliver Platt plays a secretive authoritative character in Fox's X-Men: First Class. Most notably, Platt is an Emmy-nominated actor for his performances in Nip/Tuck, The West Wing, and Huff, the latter for which he was also Golden Globe-nominated. His other notable TV credits include The Big C, Fargo, The Good Wife, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Modern Family.

Following its debut on AMC in 2007, Mad Men became a pivotal series in what is now considered the era of Peak Television. Even when every other network turned down the chance to pick up this soon-to-be hit drama, Matthew Weiner's period piece series found a home at the cable station, and it resulted in one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed series in recent history. With a talented ensemble of great actors, Mad Men's cast received heaps of praise and a number of awards to boot. Following the show's end in 2015, what have they been working on now? Let's take a look and see.

Jon Hamm (Don Draper)

As Don Draper, the creative director of Sterling Cooper, Jon Hamm became a star through his leading man role in Mad Men. Previously a TV actor with credits on Providence, Ally McBeal, Gilmore Girls, Charmed, and The Division, as well as film roles in Space Cowboys, Kissing Jessica Stein, and We Were Soldiers, Hamm's breakthrough role paved the way for appearances in A Single Man, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Town, Million Dollar Arm, and Bridesmaids. 

Following his Emmy-winning performance in Mad Men, Hamm starred in Keeping Up with the Joneses, Marjorie Prime, Baby Driver, Beirut, Tag, Bad Times at the El Royale, and The Report. He was last seen in Richard Jewell and The Jesus Rolls. In television, Hamm starred in A Young Doctor's Notebook, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Good Omens. Elisabeth Moss (Peggy Olson)

Playing Peggy Olson, who was once Don's secretary before moving up the corporate ladder, Elisabeth Moss played a pivotal role in Mad Men. Prior to her role in Mad Men, Moss was best known for her work on The West Wing, Anywhere But Here, The Missing, and Girl, Interrupted. During her time on Mad Men, Moss was also seen in Get Him to the Greek, On the Road, Listen Up Philip, The One I Love, and Top of the Lake. 

Following this career-defining role, Moss has continued to find success and acclaim through her Emmy-winning performance in Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale. She also starred in The Square, The Old Man & The Gun, Her Smell, The Kitchen, High-Rise, Truth, Queen of Earth, and most recently, The Invisible Man and Shirley earlier this year. Vincent Kartheiser (Pete Campbell)

In the role of Pete Campbell, the eventual junior partner at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, Vincent Kartheiser played a primary character throughout the entirety of Mad Men's run. A stage actor who became a film and TV performer, Kartheiser was previously seen in the TV series Angel and films like Alpha Dog, Alaska, and Dandelion. As the actor starred in this hit series, he was also seen/heard in In Time, Rango, Elektra Luxx, and Days Out of Days. 

Following Kartheiser's time in Mad Men, Kartheiser starred in My Friend Dahmer, The Most Hated Woman in America, A Kind Of Murder, Most Likely To Murder, Das Boot, and Crypto. Kartheiser also had a starring role in last year's Proven Innocent and in episodes of The OA. He was most recently seen in Netflix's The Social Dilemma.

January Jones (Betty Draper)

As Betty Draper, the wife (then ex-wife) of Don Draper, January Jones provided an Emmy-nominated performance in Mad Men. Previously a model, Jones starred in Anger Management, Love Actually, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, and We Are Marshall. 

Through the success of the show, Jones found roles in Unknown, X-Men: First Class, Seeking Justice, Pirate Radio, Sweetwater, and Good Kill. She also narrated 2015's documentary Unity. When Mad Men wrapped, the actress became a main cast member on Fox's The Last Man on Earth before it ended in 2018. She appeared in The Politician and voiced a character in Animals before she starred in Netflix's short-lived series Spinning Out earlier this year.

Christina Hendricks (Joan Holloway)

In the role of Joan Holloway, the office manager of Sterling Cooper, Christina Hendricks provided a lively presence throughout Mad Men's revered run. Formerly a model, Hendricks entered the acting business in the late '90s, where she starred in Showtime's Beggars and Choosers and in ER, The Court, Firefly, Kevin Hill, and more before she landed her Mad Men role. During this time, Hendricks also starred in Life As We Know It, Drive, The Family Tree, I Don't Know How She Does It, Ginger & Rosa, Detachment, Struck By Lightning, God's Pocket, and Lost River. 

Following her Mad Men commitments, Hendricks starred in Zoolander 2, The Neon Demon, Bad Santa 2, Fist Fight, and Pottersville, as well as shows like Another Period, Tin Star, The Romanoffs, and Hap and Leonard. Hendricks is now on NBC's Good Girls.

Kiernan Shipka (Sally Draper)

Playing the part of Sally Draper, the eldest child of Don and Betty, Kiernan Shipka found her fame through this acclaimed drama series. As a child actress, Shipka previously appeared in Monk, Heroes, MadTV, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and she was later seen in Land of the Lost, Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, and Very Good Girls when the series came to a close. She also lent her voice to The Legend of Korra. 

Most notably, Shipka starred in the title role of Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which was canceled earlier this year. The actress also starred in The Blackcoat's Daughter, Let It Snow, and Feud: Bette and Joan. Next, Shipka will star in Quibi's Swimming with Sharks.

John Slattery (Roger Sterling)

As Roger Sterling, a senior partner and accounts executive at Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency, John Slattery was a prominent player in Mad Men, notably after the first season. Prior to Mad Men, Slattery starred in movies like Eraser, Traffic, Bad Company, The Station Agent, Mona Lisa Smile, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, and Flag of Our Fathers, and in TV shows like Homefront, Party Of Five, Under Cover, Jack & Bobby, Desperate Housewives, and Maggie. 

Marvel fans will surely recognize him in the recurring role as Howard Stark, Tony's late father. His first appearance was in Iron Man 2, and he returned to the role in additional MCU movies afterward, including Avengers: Endgame. 

During his Mad Men time, Slattery also starred in Reservation Road, Charlie Wilson's War, Iron Man 2, The Adjustment Bureau, and Ted 2. And he directed 2014's God's Pocket. Shortly after Mad Men ended, Slattery appeared in 2015's Best Picture winner, Spotlight. Next, Slattery stars in Fox's upcoming Next.

Robert Morse (Bert Cooper)

In the role of Bert Cooper, the senior partner of Sterling Cooper, Robert Morse played an increasingly prominent role in the later seasons of Mad Men. A prestigious actor of the stage and screen with two Tonys, an Emmy, and a Grammy to his name, Morse was most notably seen in both the Broadway production and the film adaptation of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. 

During his time on Mad Men, for which he received several Emmy nominations, Morse also starred in The Man Who Shook The Hand of Vincente Fernandez. He did voice work for Sofia the First, The Legend of Korra, and Teen Titans Go! Following his role in this acclaimed AMC series, Morse has been seen in American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson and Corporate. He returned to Broadway for a 2016 production of The Front Page.

Aaron Staton (Ken Cosgrove)

Playing Ken Cosgrove, an account executive at Sterling Cooper, Aaron Staton was seen throughout the entirety of Mad Men's run. During his time in the show, Staton was also notably the actor behind Cole Phelps in the video game L.A. Noire, for which he received a BAFTA nomination. Following Mad Men's run, he appeared in Castle Rock, Person of Interest, Ray Donovan, God Friended Me, Narcos: Mexico, Girlfriends Guide to Divorce, The Good Wife, and Unbelievable. He also starred in films like Alex & The List, and Preservation. Next, Staton will be seen in Disney+ forthcoming mini-series, The Right Stuff.

Rich Sommer (Harry Crane)

As Harry Crane, a media buyer for Sterling Cooper, Rich Sommer was a constant presence throughout Mad Men's entire run. Prior to this hit series, Sommer was notably seen in The Devil Wears Prada. During his Mad Men time, Sommer also appeared in Celeste and Jesse Forever, The Giant Mechanical Man, The Office, Elementary, and The League. 

Following Mad Men, Sommer starred in LBJ, Hello My Name Is Doris, Girlfriend's Day, Summer of '84, and A Futile and Stupid Gesture. He also lent his voice to Regular Show and appeared in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Love, GLOW, Masters of Sex, and Elena of Avalor. Recently, Sommer starred in HBO's Run. He's now a main role in The CW's In the Dark.

Mason Vale Cotton (Bobby Draper)

In the role of Bobby Draper, the middle child of Don and Betty Draper, Mason Vale Cotton played a primary role in the fifth, sixth, and seventh seasons of Mad Men. He was previously on Desperate Housewives. Once his role in Mad Men came to a close, Cotton starred in Scales: A Mermaids Tale, Mad Families, and voiced the title character in Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie. He was last seen in 2017's short film, Super.

Bryan Batt (Salvatore Romano)

As Salvatore Romano, the art director at Sterling Cooper, Bryan Batt was a main cast member during the first three seasons of Mad Men. Primarily known as a theater actor, Batt performed in Broadway productions of Cats, Starlight Express, Sunset Boulevard, Saturday Night Fever, Seussical, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat prior to his time in this hit drama series. 

Following his role in Mad Men, Batt played a recurring role in MTV's Scream and made appearances in NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans, and EastSiders. He also starred in films like 12 Years a Slave, Parkland, LBJ, Tales From The Hood 2, and Billionaire Boys Club. Most recently, Batt produced and starred in Easy Does It. He'll next be seen in Don't Look Back, American Reject, and Night Teeth.

Michael Gladis (Paul Kinsey)

Playing Paul Kinsey, a copywriter at Sterling Cooper, Michael Gladis was part of Mad Men's main cast throughout its first three seasons. Following his role in the hit series, which also included a guest star appearance in Season 5, the actor provided turns in Devil's Knot, Knights of Badassdom, Not Safe For Work, Terminator Genisys, and Armed Response. 

On television, he starred in Eagleheart, Reckless, Extant, and Feed the Beast, and he appears in episodes of The Good Wife, Medium, Leverage, The Mentalist, Justified, House of Lies, Elementary, Lucifier, and Criminal Minds. Earlier this year, Gladis became a main cast member on Showtime's Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. He'll also soon be seen in The Mental State.

Jared Harris (Lane Pryce)

In the role of Lane Pryce, the former financial officer at Sterling Cooper, Jared Harris gave an Emmy-nominated standout performance in the middle seasons of Mad Men. As a well-trained English actor, Harris starred in I Shot Andy Warhol, Natural Born Killers, The Last of the Mohicans, Far and Away, Dead Man, Happiness, Lost in Space, Mr. Deeds, Ocean's Twelve, Lady in the Water, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, among others, prior to his work in this series. 

He also played a reoccurring role in Fringe. During his time on Mad Men, Harris was also seen in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. In the following years, Harris starred in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Allied, Certain Women, and Poltergeist (2015). He was also in Cherynbol, The Crown, and Carnival Row. Next, he'll star in Morbius and AppleTV's Foundation.

The cast of Ryan Murphy's upcoming Netflix series, The Politician, is continuing to take shape. As it turns out, the streaming show will reunite Murphy with more than one of star from American Horror Story. The great Jessica Lange has officially boarded the political satire.

Details on Jessica Lange's character are scarce. We do know one interesting tidbit about how the role was landed, though, thanks to Barbara Streisand. (Naturally.) As those following the development of The Politician may recall, Streisand was initially attached to star in the series.

Fast forward to now, and it turns out Jessica Lange has officially taken over the role that Barbara Streisand was originally set to play. Streisand made mention of the casting switch in an interview with the New Yorker in early November. Now, the casting news has been confirmed.

In boarding The Politician, Jessica Lange is joining her former American Horror Story co-star Dylan McDermott. The two crossed paths quite a bit in Season 1's Murder House, and also starred in Asylum, to later both appear in the most recent season, Apocalypse.

The actor shared that he plays a con man who has maxed out his credit cards and is living a lie. Dylan McDermott also revealed that his character reaches out to an escort service to find a date to attend an event with him. Afterward, they get married. So there are already some interesting angles to play with in that origin story.

Dylan McDermott himself provided another new casting detail. The actor revealed another star who has joined the ensemble in an interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio: Mad Men's January Jones. Who is she playing?

January Jones will play Dylan McDermott character's wife. Thankfully, the actor also dropped that tidbit about how his and Jones' character met. It's certainly some intriguing insight about the character, which sounds as though it will be a far cry from January Jones' Mad Men character, Betty Draper.

Jessica Lange and January Jones join a cast that already includes the previously announced stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Dear Evan Hansen's Ben Platt. Few exact details are known about other elements The Politician. News about the Netflix project started making the rounds a while ago, and we'll hopefully get more soon now that casting is in full swing.

The Politician is said to focus on a well-off young man from Santa Barbara, who decides its time to dive into politics. The series is part of Ryan Murphy's multi-year deal to produce original content for Netflix, a deal that commenced in July. It's a good sign for fans of his previous work that he's already tapped two American Horror Story vets for this show. Maybe Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters aren't too far behind.

A release date for The Politician has not been set yet. When it does debut, it will do so on Netflix. In the meantime, a lot of new TV content will be available to stream this fall and in the midseason.

X-Men: First Class wound up being an incredibly important film for the X-Men franchise. After two straight critical misses with X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the series really needed to get back on track, and Matthew Vaughn's film did just that. As great as it is, however, it could have been even cooler had initial plans worked out -- as budget cuts cost the blockbuster a couple of incredibly cool psychic battles between telepathic mutants Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Emma Frost (January Jones).

I learned the details of these never-made action sequences while recently interviewing screenwriter Ashley Miller as part of promotion for the new Austin Film Festival-published book On Story - Screenwriters & Filmmakers On Their Iconic Films. While talking about his work on X-Men: First Class - which was co-written by Zack Stentz, Jane Goldman, and Matthew Vaughn -- Miller mentioned that the film didn't have a director when he signed on, so I asked him if that provided a bit of freedom to really make the X-Men movie he wanted to see. While the screenwriter noted that the finished film is "mind-boggling close to the movie that was made," there was a particularly sequence that didn't happen because it would have been too expensive:

Continuing, Ashley Miller went on to describe the two psychic battles that X-Men: First Class was going to feature. While facing off mentally against the telepathic Emma Frost, Xavier was going to construct his own version of the mansion in which he grew up -- but the villainous member of the Hellfire Club was going to use it to turn the tables on him. Said Miller,

Similarly, the second psychic battle was going to take Xavier to another familiar place: Cerebro:

Fox apparently didn't have the confidence required at the time to let the production of X-Men: First Class create a psychic battle, but we did get to finally see a big screen version of the comic book combat when Xavier went toe-to-toe with the titular villain in X-Men: Apocalypse (which also featured some time in the X-Mansion going poorly)...

Spoiler warning for anyone who hasn't yet watched The Last Man on Earth's Season 3 premiere. Don't be such a turd. Go watch it.

In its first two seasons, The Last Man on Earth put together some of the most unpredictable and spontaneously dark twists in primetime TV, which isn't something that network comedies are known for. In its Season 3 premiere "General Breast Theme with Cobras," the show had a get-a-drink-and-you'll-miss-it connection to one of the most acclaimed dramas of all time. The always fab Jon Hamm had a surprise cameo that was brought to a quick halt by his former Mad Men co-star January Jones in a manner that brought some poetic justice for their characters' time on that show.

Viewers will recall that the Last Man Season 2 finale ended with the gang (now without Jason Sudeikis' Mike) going all wide-eyed after seeing Mark Boone Junior's ocean-faring Pat arriving with two men in protective suits. Their immediate and cacophonous panic was punctuated by a shotgun blast, as Jones' Melissa comes out of nowhere and blasts one of the mystery men in the gut. It turns out it was Hamm under the mask as Darrell, a character who may not have been a dangerous or evil guy (assuming he was telling the truth), but one that would unwittingly pay the price for the actions of Don Draper.

In those early years of Mad Men, Don was married to Betty Draper, played by January Jones, and it would be putting it mildly to call him a ho-banging piece of shit in those years, as he wasn't one to keep it in the pants. On Mad Men, Betty got her "revenge" by leaving and divorcing him and taking the kids, but things took another bad turn for her when she found out she was dying. And now, decades after the fictional timeline and just a little over a year after the AMC drama ended, Betty's spirit can finally rest.

But poor Darrell, though, right?

This moment in the premiere actually capitalizes on the bit in Season 2 when January Jones is rocking a shotgun to blast that drone apart, which Mad Men fans delighted in, given Betty Draper's own gun stance. All Melissa was missing was a cigarette. Who'd have thought the comedy would result in a bigger and better Mad Men callback?

The Last Man on Earth will presumably continue to show us just how fib-ulous the show's title is by introducing other mysterious characters from the outside world, and it will do it on Fox every Sunday night. To see when everything else is coming around soon, check out our fall premiere schedule.

You’ve seen Jimmy Fallon act like a shitty teenager. You’ve seen him sorta cheat at beer games. You’ve seen him laugh at his own jokes. And now the day has come when you can watch him take a pie to the face for a goofy Tonight Show game with golfer Bubba Watson and actress January Jones. Check it out!

Currently ranked as one of the top three golfers in the world, and the top U.S. golfer, Watson is a perfect choice to take Fallon on in the ridiculous game of Pie Golf. (I wouldn’t be mad if there was a home version of this game I could play, because mmm pie.) And while I’ve never seen Jones’ pie-smashing skills on Mad Men or The Last Man on Earth yet, she’s perfectly suited for the job. But if we’re being honest, Fallon has the kind of “put a pie in it” face that makes anyone worthy of the duty.

Is it surprising that Fallon seems to initially be better at Pie Golf than Watson is? I mean, Watson has got a Happy Gilmore-level of driving power and is a two-time Masters Tournament champion. But then, this is a game that the Tonight Show staff came up with, so Fallon probably had some practice beforehand. “Honing my Pie Golf skills” sounds like the perfect alibi for murder, or a surreal euphemism for masturbation. In the end, Watson won, proving Fallon’s sportsmanship is thicker than meringue.

Because I can’t possibly go through the rest of this story without dropping a terrible pun: should Fox and Bryan Singer start looking to cast Fallon in the next X-Men movie as Pie-clops?

Getting hit in the face with pie has been a comedy standby for what feels like thousands of years now, and watching Pie Golf takes me back to the greatest pie fight in history, as performed by the Three Stooges. (And not the movie versions.) Relive that messy madness below.

You can call Andrew Niccol a lot of things, but you really can’t call him cowardly. In an age where reality seems like an oppressive world more suited to the movies than our own lives, Niccol remains one of the sole American filmmakers interested in actually discussing the issues that plague our socio-economic times. Weirdly enough, Niccol has been dismissed as a subpar filmmaker, but decades from now when we need to find a film that speaks to where we were at the turn of the century, would it be a surprise to reach for a Niccol film?

His latest has been in development without a name, but it’s now going under the provocative title Good Kill. And now the person doing the good killing will be January Jones, according to Deadline. The Mad Men vet will be playing the wife to Ethan Hawke, who will star as a former pilot who now operates military drones from afar, piloting them for twelve hours a day, then, according to the synopsis, goes home and "feuds with his wife and kids for the other twelve." So, wait… it’s a sitcom?

On one hand, the plot description, where Hawke asks himself "if he is creating more terrorists" in a "war without end," seems sort of… vague? Doesn’t everybody who is implicit in the "War On Terror" (which is to say, most everybody) wonder the exact same thing? Does he… do something about this? Is it in any way relevant that he has laser-sharp precision in killing bad guys from afar, but can’t seem to straighten out his family life? Does that seem like a heavily simplified outlook on the military’s controversial (often illegal) drone program? The synopsis revealed by Deadline, which seems scattershot and hard-to-place, also specifies that he’s fighting "the Taliban" via drone strikes. Oh, if only it were that simple!

But who else is addressing the issue of military drones on film today? If you see them, it’s usually in a rah-rah function, some badass robots doing badass things. If they’re employed for nefarious reasons, like in stuff like Elysium or the recent Terminator Salvation, it’s usually in a futuristic manner completely divorced from our current climate, with a generous undercurrent of, "Yeah, that’s badass." It’s NOT divorced from real life anymore, and it’s NOT just a tool of the "bad guys." Presenting that in a matter-of-fact way will go a long way towards making Good Kill an interesting picture. And as far as plot mechanics, it would be rewarding if this was anything like Niccol’s Lord of War, a film that delved deeply into the politics involved in the global arms trade that also believably showed how someone would enter that world. Putting a face, particularly one like Hawke’s, on the drone operations, is the first step towards further complicating, and enriching, the drama inherent in how the government kills from afar.

Jones joins a cast that includes Zoe Kravitz, Jake Abel and, as Hawke’s mentor (what else?), Bruce Greenwood. Niccol is writing and directing, and with a leg of shooting completed in Morocco, the production is shifting to New Mexico. Jones is currently still a member of the Mad Men cast as that series winds down, and was recently seen in the western Sweetwater where she held her own opposite the imposing duo of Ed Harris and Jason Isaacs. Theoretically, she’s also still signed for further X-Men adventures, though she appears to be absent from X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

At the end of Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class Magneto, played by Michael Fassbender, successfully infiltrates a CIA holding cell where Emma Frost, played by January Jones, is just lying and waiting. After exchanging some banter regarding the Master of Magnetism's "telepath friend," Magneto asks if she will join him in his cadre of mutants. To fans of the characters it looked as though the two of them, along with Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Angel (Zoe Kravitz), Azazel (Jason Flemyng) and Riptide (Álex González), were forming the earliest version of the Brotherhood of Mutants. But now it looks like it's possible we may not see the payoff of that final moment in the sequel.

Jones is currently down in Park City, Utah for the Sundance Film Festival, promoting her new movie Sweetwater, and when speaking with Collider she revealed that she has yet to hear anything about the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. “I don’t know that I’m in it, I don’t think Emma’s in this one," she said. Well they haven’t told me if I am." She dampened the news by saying that she didn't get a script for the last movie until she was on a plane flying to the set, but when describing the details of the film she knows she questioned where her character would fit in.

"It’s called Days of Future Past I think, and I think it’s more about James [McAvoy] and Michael [Fassbender] and then Patrick [Stewart] and Ian [McKellan], and I think it’s gonna go back and forth with those so I don’t think Emma’s in those bits. I don’t know, I really don’t know," Jones said.

In addition to the names she mentioned it's also been confirmed that Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult (who played Beast) and Hugh Jackman (as Wolverine, of course) will appear in the Bryan Singer-directed sequel as well. Production is said to be starting soon on the movie, which is currently dated for July 18, 2014. As TV roles change, so too do Emmy nomination categories. Two actors featured in currently airing TV shows appear to be altering their Emmy nomination strategies this year by switching categories. And given the increased presence of one, and decreased presence of the other, both make sense, but will the adjustments hurt or improve their chances at a nomination and/or Emmy?

According to the Hollywood Reporter, The Office star Ed Helms is submitting himself for consideration for the Emmy for lead actor in a comedy for his role in NBC’s The Office. Previously, he’d been submitting himself for supporting actor in a comedy. His character Andy Bernard was promoted to regional manager, filling the shoes of Michael Scott, the character played by Steve Carell. I suppose it’s only fitting that Helms attempt to fill Carell’s shoes in the Emmy race too, as the former star of The Office had been nominated six times for the lead role. But will Helms be able to earn a nomination against the likes of Alec Baldwin, Louis C.K., Johnny Galecki, Matt LeBlanc, Jim Parsons, and whoever else may have trailed just behind that group last year? It’s worth a shot!

While Helms attempts to move up a category, it looks like January Jones is going to try her luck at the supporting actress in a drama category. Jones, who plays Betty in AMC’s Mad Men, was once nominated for the lead actress in a drama Emmy, but lost out to Kyra Sedgwick. She didn’t manage to secure a nomination in 2011, though her co-star Elisabeth Moss did. This year, as THR reports, Jones is submitting herself for consideration for the supporting category, which may improve her chances of receiving a nominations.

Betty Draper (err... Francis...) seems more like a supporting role now anyway. No longer married to Don Draper, the character hasn’t been around much this season. According to THR’s source, we’ll be seeing more of her later on in the season. Still, she doesn’t seem to fit the category of lead in the series this season. We’ll have to wait and see if moving to the supporting category will result in a nomination this year.

There’s a reason Guy Pearce has seven movies in various stages of production--he’s kick ass. In Justice he gets to do something he doesn’t do too regularly, play the bad guy in a film. Led by Nicolas Cage, Justice follows Cage after his wife is traumatized by an attack as he searches for, you guessed it, justice. It presents itself in the form of Guy Pearce, a suit-clad man offering to take out the man responsible for hurting his wife, played by Mad Men’s January Jones, but at a price.

A new poster has emerged over in the UK for Justice sporting the tagline “Would you cross the line for vengeance?” It hints that Cage, while not paying money for Pearce’s services, will have to perform some tasks that he may not be comfortable with. Check out the poster below courtesy of HeyUGuys.

Last week we got our first look at Justice in trailer form showing off Cage’s desperation for vengeance for the attack on his wife, and just how bad a situation he gets himself caught up in with Pearce, whose suit and tie is no disguise for his sinister plans. Dante’s Peak director Roger Donaldson is at the helm for Justice returning to the chair after a three year rest after his last film, The Bank Job with Jason Statham.

Justice doesn’t have a release date for America yet, but has already been released in Italy. We should be hearing about some for of distribution soon.

As Arnold Schwarzenegger proved to all of us earlier this week, celebrities can still make mistakes. January Jones announced on April 28th that she was pregnant. Could raging hormones be the reason why Jones treated the sweet and affable Zach Galifianakis like an asshole? Maybe, maybe not. But there is still one lingering question about this pregnancy that hasn’t been answered; who is the father?

It’s not SNL star Jason Sudeikis, because they broke up in January (how appropriate), and knowledgeable sources say he is not the father. According to sources deep inside the set of X-Men: First Class, which Jones stars in, say her and the director Mathew Vaughn were “very close.” This could be a number of things.

This “information” could mean that director Vaughn is the baby daddy; or that they just enjoyed spending time together watching movies, playing hop-scotch, smoking dope; hell, how do I know what Hollywood folks do. Nonetheless, credible sources claim that the two spending time together meant something more than just a working friendship.

So, did they have an affair? Or is this just a badly thought up gossip story? This where my job as a celebrity gossip reporter can get misleading, because it’s possible that none of this “inside info” is true. Here are the facts we have, so you can decide on your own:

FACT: Mathew Vaughn and his wife model Claudia Schiffer rented a house in Beverly Hills during the duration of filming for X-Men. Vaughn and his wife “abruptly” left when word came out about the Jones pregnancy, even though the couple was supposed to stay until the end of May. Automatically plenty of people would assume the worst. Yet, this is the problem with assuming they left because of Vaughn’s “alleged” affair with Jones. Representatives of both Vaughn and Schiffer say they left because of their children’s school schedule.

FACT: Sources from the X-Men production explained there would be no premiere for the film. There would only be a “cast screening” in New York City. This is where it gets weird, because everyone showed up except for the director. Vaughn explains his absence was due to tonsillitis, even though earlier that day he seemed to be quite healthy during his interview with Collider.com.

Who do we believe? Sources from E! Online say it is possible that Vaughn, during his time spent with the Mad Men actress on set, could have knocked her up. But, if what Vaugh and Schiffer's representatives say is true, then this is just a bad case of misunderstanding. Like the Arnold Schwarzenegger story earlier this week, we really need to start getting some straight answers before we assume anything. For now all we have is rumor, speculation, and questions.

Glimpsed only briefly in the film's first trailer that hit last month, Kevin Bacon's character Sebastian Shaw is front and center in the new X-Men: First Class image debuting at Empire Online. It's our first look at the interior of the Hellfire Club, described as the headquarters of "the decadent mutant bastards" led by Shaw and his go-to girl, January Jones's Emma Frost. Both are standing in the middle of the mirrored, blue-lit room in the image, which you can see below.

It's a good look, and I can see some enterprising club owners planning right now how to open their own "Hellfire Club," in which every bar table looks lit the fluorescent tube thing you see standing behind the two actors. The trailer gave a sense that Matthew Vaughn's film would have a great sense of both period setting and generally awesome mutant locations, and this fits right in with the high hopes on that front. X-Men: First Class stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and January Jones are all out doing press right now for other projects, which means that once they've finished talking about Gnomeo & Juliet, Jane Eyre and Unknown, respectively, they're hit with at least one or two questions about the latest mutant film, which we all got our first look at with the trailer that hit last week. McAvoy told Eric about the reshoots the cast has been doing, and now Jones is addressing the issue as well in an interview with Jam! Showbiz, in which she calls the film's quick shooting schedule "unreasonable."

There have been a lot of headlines around the web taking Jones's "unreasonable" comment as criticism about the entire production, but if you read the full quote in context, it's really pretty innocuous. Here's everything she had to say about the shooting schedule and the reshoots:

So basically what you have here is an actress saying "yes it's rushed, but everyone working on this movie is a genius, so it'll be great!" Very much by the book. There are probably some PR people panicking this morning all the same, but when it comes down to it, January Jones is still being a team player. Rushed or not, X-Men: First Class is still hitting theaters on June 3.

X-Men comic book artists who have drawn Emma Frost over the years have never exactly been subtle in their approach. In many cases, the characters costume has consisted largely of a white bra or corset, white panties, and thigh-high boots - like I said, not subtle. Fans of the look, however, were disappointed when on-set photos came online last year that showed actress January Jones, who will be playing the role in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, wearing a trench coat and a Russian hat. Apparently, that look won't be the one dominating the film.

Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, Jones remarked that the costume for Emma Frost is "Insane," adding that "It’s a lot of very body-conscious stuff." But as intimidated by Frost's physique as she was, Jones was asked to avoid the gym while filming Mad Men so that she could maintain a more curvy, period-accurate physique. While conscious about the costumes, one thing that the actress was happy to avoid was the prosthetics departments. One of Frost's abilities is to change into diamond form, but Jones says that the transformation will be done entirely using CGI.

Considering that the character is known for wearing costumes like this, this and this, one must wonder where Vaughn is going to draw the line. After all, any Mad Men viewer knows that women typically didn't walk around in their underwear back in the 60s.

In the comics, Emma Frost is one of the most scantily clad characters you will find - her top is about half of a bra and her bottoms usually don't amount to much more than a thong. With that image in mind, you can imagine why some fans were quite surprised to see the first images rolling around of her in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class. 

INF Daily dropped the first images of Jones on the set of the film and she looks chic and far more dressed than expected. It's entirely possible that the jacket is just covering her real costume underneath, but with that other puffy coat she's wearing, it looks like First Class may take her clothes in a different direction.

They may not be naked and covered in blood like those True Blood hedonists, but the Mad Men cast is looking plenty sexy on the cover of this week's Rolling Stone. Jon Hamm is on hand to represent the menfolk, while Christina Hendricks, Elisabeth Moss and January Jones are all there, done up in their finest (never say Rolling Stone doesn't know what kind of photos sell magazines). Neither Moss or Jones is dressed exactly like Peggy Olson or Betty Draper would in real life, but don't let anyone say they're not pulling it off anyway.

Newly crowned yet again as an Emmy winner and coming off a stellar recent episode, Mad Men seems even more on top of the world now than it was before. A Rolling Stone cover isn't exactly as hip as it used to be, but at least the classy ladies and gents of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce aren't letting the vampires have all the fun.

Though he isn't directing the film, Bryan Singer is still very much involved with the production of X-Men: First Class. In addition to serving as producer for the Matthew Vaughn superhero film, he also holds a story credit. With all of the casting news in recent weeks (I would link to them but, frankly there are just too many), speculation about the project has been running wild, but Singer has now taken a moment to clear some things up

AICN had a chance to speak with Singer and the X2 director spilled the following information:

• The story is a period piece that takes place during the early 1960s, when John F. Kennedy was president.
• The film will cover how Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr (played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender) first met while in their late 20s.
• McAvoy will not start the film in a wheelchair, but we will see how he is paralyzed. He will also have a full head of hair
• They are not trying to adapt the X-Men: First Class comic, rather seeing the film as "a new beginning for X-Men"
• The technology is inspired by the James Bond tech of the time and the costumes "will be far more comic bookish than we've seen before"
• Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Jean Grey aren't in the film, but Alex Summers (a.k.a. Havoc, a.k.a. Scott's brother) will be there and played by Lucas Till
• The Hellfire Club will be present in the film with Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) and Emma Frost (January Jones) as members. The costumes will be similar to what they were in the original comics and Bacon may sport a ponytail with a ribbon
• The film will have a much more international feel, picking up with Xavier attending school at Oxford University. Shooting will take place in England and the US. Because this is the 60s, Russia will be represented.

It's a lot to take in, but also a lot to be excited about. They appear to be going for a more classic view of comics, which we have yet to see in film adaptations. I suspect that the one thing people will be upset about is that Xavier will have hair, but let's face facts here: you shave McAvoy's head and he's going to look like a cancer patient. Not everybody can pull off the Patrick Stewart.

UPDATE: Turns out all our fun speculation was for naught-- on Twitter Fox publicist Chris Petrikin has countered that Kravitz will in fact be playing a character named Angel, different from the Angel seen in X3 and, yes, female. You can read more about her here.

Given the limitless roster of mutants in the X-Men universe I wouldn't be surprised if the casting process for X-Men: First Class really did go on until the end of time. As production gets ready to start at the end of the month we're getting a new announcement seemingly every hour, and now here are two big ones-- Deadline reports that January Jones will play Emma Frost and Zoe Kravitz will play Angel.

This news is confusing in many different ways, so let me start from the beginning-- we've been presuming for months now that Alice Eve had the role, to the point that she was included in nearly every casting roundup, but apparently she never made a deal and was handily replaced by Jones instead. Kravitz is far trickier-- not only is the character of Angel male and played by Ben Foster in X3, but the character was introduced as having had no contact with the other mutants in the past, and as we know this is a prequel. It's possible Kravitz won't be playing Angel at all, and instead this is another one of those casting misdirects we warned you about in July. Feel free to speculate all you like about who Kravitz might really be playing, but I'll wager something substantial she's stepping in for Halle Berry and playing Storm.

Two more names figure into the piece, one of which, Morgan Lily, we told you about earlier. The other is Bill Milner, a 15-year-old who will play a younger version of Magneto. No, I have no idea how a teenage Magneto is going to fit into this story, nor why we don't have casting for an equivalent teenage Professor Xavier. For all I know Milner is playing Cyclops and this is a total misdirect. At this point I'd rather crawl into a hole than report on this endless X-Men casting process one more time. Can someone wake me when the cameras finally start rolling?
