Sam Neill’s death has inspired an outpouring of stories from the people who knew and worked with him, and each one has made the loss feel a little harder to process. The Jurassic Park star died July 13 at 78, leaving behind a career filled with everything from dinosaurs and submarines to intimate dramas. Still, some of the most moving remembrances have focused on the warmth and humor he brought when the cameras were not rolling. And perhaps one of the most touching memories is a video with his fellow original Jurassic Park family singing a Beatles song together.

Bryce Dallas Howard shared one such memory on Instagram, posting a video from the Jurassic World: Dominion production. In the clip, Neill sits at a piano with Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, the three original JP stars, as they sing the Beatles’ “Blackbird.” Goldblum plays the keys while his longtime co-stars lean in beside him, and it is difficult to imagine a sweeter image of the friendship that grew around these movies.

Howard explained that the moment came from the unusual period when the Dominion cast lived together while completing the movie during the COVID-19 pandemic. She spent four and a half months in a hotel seven minutes from the set with Neill and others, forming a close-knit bubble.

In her caption, Howard remembered being grateful that Neill was among the people with whom she endured that uncertain stretch. She described him as funny, warm, self-deprecating and kind, adding that he was exactly the person fans hoped the man behind Alan Grant would be. Howard also wrote about his generosity with his wine, stories and time, along with his love for his family, pets, farm and home.

That tribute adds another layer to the video. Neill, Dern and Goldblum are not performing a scene or recreating one of the franchise’s familiar moments. They are simply crowded around a piano months into living and working together, singing while the outside world remained frightening and unpredictable.

Jurassic World Dominion received plenty of attention for bringing Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm back together nearly 30 years after Jurassic Park. The movie marketed their reunion as a major franchise event, and seeing the three actors share the screen again was one of its biggest selling points. Watching Howard’s clip now makes that reunion feel far more personal.

There is something especially moving about seeing Neill beside two of his most iconic co-stars. Together, the three actors helped turn Jurassic Park and the ensuing franchise into a classic and launch a series that has lasted for decades. Yet the affection captured in this video belongs to friends who shared premieres, sequels and reunions long after Isla Nublar first brought them together.

Howard also shared a smiling selfie in which she peeks over Neill’s shoulder. It is a much smaller image than the musical reunion, but it carries the same sense of closeness. Her tribute is less interested in cataloging Neill’s accomplishments than in showing the person his colleagues knew between takes.

The choice of “Blackbird” gives the clip added emotional weight, though the moment never feels staged for an audience. Their voices are loose and unguarded, and Neill looks entirely comfortable sitting next to Goldblum and Dern. It is the sort of candid memory that can say more about a person than a formal tribute.

Many woke up this morning to the very sad news that Sam Neill died at the age of 78. The New Zealand-born actor’s passing was announced by his family on social media and, quite frankly, it’s hard to believe the beloved thespian is no longer with us. Fans and film pundits alike have since been paying tribute to the late Jurassic Universe star. And, unsurprisingly, a number of Neill’s former collaborators are doing the same, as Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and a host of others have shared incredibly kind words about him.

Laura Dern played the Dr. Ellie Sattler to Sam Neill’s Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic movies, and the two had incredible on-screen chemistry. Aside from their work, though, Neill and Dern forged a personal friendship, and it was also delightful to see them reunite. Dern reacted to Neill’s death via a statement shared with Variety, and the Oscar winner’s sweet thoughts are so sweet:

Both Dern and Neill had the opportunity to reprise their roles as Sattler and Grant for 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion years after they last appeared in the franchise in 2001’s Jurassic Park III. In the more recent movie, directed by Colin Trevorrow, the pair were also joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum, who famously played Dr. Ian Malcolm. Goldblum reacted to Neill’s death on Instagram, sharing a still from JP and penning a brief, but loving, message in honor of his buddy:

Neill’s exact cause of death has not been released, though it’s been reported that he was cancer-free after having been diagnosed with a form of blood cancer in 2022. The following year, Goldblum spoke highly of Neill and said that he was doing well and that they had been in “constant” contact. Also joining this recent course of tributes for Neill was Chris Pratt, who worked with Neill on J-World Dominion. The Owen Grady actor said this about his former co-star on his Instagram story:

Additionally, another person to memorialize Sam Neill was Steven Spielberg, who directed him in the all-time classic Jurassic Park. Spielberg released a statement that was shared with Variety and said he was “saddened” by Neill’s death. Spielberg shared the following:

Jurassic franchise producer Frank Marshall also reached out in the aftermath of Neill’s death. On X, the producer shared a still of a camera monitor shot from a previous shoot and said this:

Sam Neill’s body of work is quite impressive and extends beyond the Jurassic movies. Sleeping Dogs (his film debut), Possession, The Hunt for Red October, The Piano and Event Horizon are just a few of the titles in his filmography. Not only that, but Neill also appeared on shows like Peaky Blinders and The Tudors. Neill left an indelible mark due to his body of work and, as Spielberg asserted he won’t be forgotten as an artist. Though I’d wager those who knew him will remember him fondly for being a great human being.

Usually when a theme park has something new on the horizon, there’s a great deal of press and promotion that goes along with it. However, Universal Destinations and Experiences has been known to sometimes go in a very different direction. Apparently, when it comes to Jurassic Park, the feeling is that little to no promotion is needed.

The Jurassic World Velocicoaster was mostly completed at Universal Islands of Adventure before Universal Orlando resort ever confirmed that’s what it actually was, and now a new Jurassic World experience has begun at Universal Studios Hollywood, complete with (via Inside Universal) Dr. Ian Malcolm explaining chaos theory to guests. I’m sorry to say, however, that he is not, at least currently, “shirless Jeff Goldblum.”

Jurassic World: A Journey Through The Eras is currently a “special event” at Univesal Studios Hollywood that opened this week completely without any official announcement. It's essentially an outdoor walkthrough attraction. It includes some animated dinosaur characters, as well as actors performing the likes of Ian Malcolm, Dr. John Hammond and Nedry. Guests can interact with all of them in character.

While details have not yet been confirmed, it appears that Journey Through The Eras is meant to be an offering at this year’s Fan Fest Nights, an after-hours ticketed event starting next month. If that’s the case, then this is essentially a soft opening/technical rehearsal, likely meant to make sure that everything is in working order.

The title of the event Journey Through the Eras would seem to indicate that the full experience will include not just Jurassic Park characters but Jurassic World characters as well. Thus far, only the former have appeared at Universal Studios Hollywood. Perhaps there is a lot more being kept behind the curtain for Fan Fest Nights.

If this is an official Fan Fest Night offering, then it’s also likely that not everything that will be part of the experience during the event is on display now. I’m not saying that shirtless Ian Malcolm is definitely going to happen at Fan Fest Nights, but it is an “after-hours” event, right?

Honestly, if they stage an interaction that has Dr. Malcolm inclined and with his shirt open, I might actually die laughing. That would be hilarious. That said, I won’t be convinced it’s not happening until Fan Fest Nights get started.

Last year’s inaugural Fan Fest Nights were incredible, and this year is looking to be just as great. We’re getting Scooby-Doo X Universal Monsters, an expanded One Piece experience, Sailor Moon, and the return of last year’s Dungeons & Dragons: Secrets of Waterdeep. If Jurassic World is being added to that, it's only going to make this year's Fan Fest Nights that much better.

Super Bowl LX is nearly upon us, and many are looking forward to watching Bad Bunny's halftime show as well as the slew of commercials. Thus far, viewers have been treated to a tease for Ben Affleck’s latest Dunkin’ TV spot as well as a Raisin Bran ad featuring William Shatner. Now, Jurassic Park fans have reason to be excited, as the three main stars of Steven Spielberg's 1993 science fiction flick reunited for an ad. It’s a truly funny piece of work, and I’m still grinning at the sight of the stars donning their costumes again.

Ian Malcolm famously said, “Life, uh, finds a way,” and I believe that sentiment is just as true as the notion that advertisers will always find a way to bank on nostalgia. Xfinity is doing that in a fun way for this year’s SB by reuniting Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill for a TV spot in which they reprise their roles as Malcolm, Ellie Sattler and Alan Grant, respectively. The ad presents an altered version of the events that transpired in one of Spielberg’s best movies, and you can check out the funny commercial for yourself down below:

As fans can see, the TV spot initially plays on the fateful moment from Jurassic Park in which Dennis Nedry shuts down the power in the titular location, which sets the core action of the film in motion. However, in this scenario, all of that death and destruction is avoided due to an Xfinity employee saving the day by plugging in one of the brand’s routers. From there, Grant, Sattler, Malcolm and co. end up having a joyous weekend at John Hammond’s park on Isla Nublar, complete with swimming, jogging and web-surfing.

What’s particularly surreal for me is seeing the three center stars wearing recreations of their original costumes. Alan Grant’s blue denim shirt and red ascot are on point, and Ellie Sattler’s pink camp shirt are on point. Additionally, Jeff Goldblum even wears Malcolm’s signature black shirt and poses as he did in that iconic shirtless scene. I’ve honestly been impressed by some of the fun Super Bowl ads that play on classic movies (like that spot featuring Timothée Chalamet as Edward Scissorhands’ son). But this JP ad really makes me smile.

Fans of the Jurassic Park universe may also be delighted to see some funny nods to iconic lines and scenes from the original film. At one point, Grant – like in the movie – asks how Hammond recreated the dinosaurs only for the Xfinity rep to offer to show him. Malcolm, while at a buffet, also takes note of a “big pile of shrimp,” which alludes to his NSFW comment about dino feces in the movie. To top it all off, while on a ride, Grant gleefully calls Hammond to say he’s endorsing his park unlike in the actual film.

I think the only awkward part of the ad is that there seems to be a little de-aging tech involved, which seems a tad wonky. Nevertheless, the nostalgia outweighs any uncanny valley vibes for me this time around.

Although there’s a lot to love about this commercial, the biggest draw is the sight of Dern, Neill and Goldblum reuniting. The trio last reprised their roles for the 2022 film Jurassic World Dominion, which marked the first time all three had starred alongside each other in one of the franchise's installments since the original movie. It warms my heart to see that they still maintain ties to the groundbreaking ‘90s blockbuster.

The original core cast of the Jurassic franchise grew quite close while they were working on the film. In fact, they all endured what was actually a very dangerous-sounding situation. While promoting this ad, Sam Neill recalled how they faced a hurricane during production. Luckily, everyone got through the experience, which actually gave the group some time to bond with each other as well as director Steven Spielberg. I'd like to think that that off-camera chemistry bled into Neill, Dern and Goldblum's interactions on screen.

The chances of any of the aforementioned Jurassic alums reprising their roles in another film seem slim. With that in mind, I’ll just be relishing this Super Bowl and the nostalgia it evokes. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to give this another watch (and I’m also eager to know if that Xfinity rep ended up getting chased down by that Dilophosaurus).

The early ‘80s must have been an exciting time for Jeff Goldblum. He was starting to get bigger roles in movies like The Big Chill and the wildly underappreciated cult classic, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. By the mid-’80s, he was scoring his first starring roles, most notably with 1986’s The Fly.

In ‘85, he released three movies, one was a Western that helped launch Kevin Costner’s career, Silverado, and one was John Landis’ Into the Night, which is mostly remembered for not being a very good movie. The third movie is one that I think is kind of underrated and definitely mostly forgotten: Transylvania 6-5000. If you’ve never heard of it or don’t remember it, the good news is that you can stream for free on Tubi. The bad news is that I can’t promise you’ll love it like I do.

If You’re A Fan Of Old Monster Movies, You Might Dig It

Transylvania 6-5000 is named after a hit by Glenn Miller from 1940 called Pennsylvania 6-5000. Why it's a play on that isn’t exactly clear to me, but the movie does (mostly) take place in Transylvania, so I suppose it’s just because the song is so catchy. The plot of the movie is catchy, too. Goldblum plays a reporter named Jack who writes for a low-level supermarket tabloid in New York City alongside the son of the owner, Gil, played by Ed Begley, Jr.

Jack and Gil are tasked by the tabloid’s owner to travel to Transylvania to chase down a report that Frankenstein’s monster has been spotted. Along the way, they meet a Wolfman (played by Donald Gibb of Revenge of the Nerds fame), a Swamp Thing, and other classic monsters. The monsters are augmented by all manner of odd townsfolk, all drawn from old horror movie tropes. If you love old Universal monster movies, you’ll have fun spotting the tributes and cliches. It’s part of what makes the movie so fun.

The Cast Is Pretty Awesome

In addition to Goldblum and Begley, the cast is filled with up-and-coming comedians and actors. Geena Davis, in just her third movie (working with her future husband, Goldblum), plays a sexy vampire. Carol Kane, who steals every scene she’s in, plays Lupi, a maid at the hotel. Michael Richards plays the stereotypical creepy butler, who is wonderfully absurd. Jeffrey Jones, Norman Fell, and Teresa Ganzel also play funny roles.

It’s really the cast and the satire that make this a worthwhile movie, especially for horror fans. It was never going to win any awards, and it’s not like it’s going on my top ten comedies of all time, but if you’re a horror fan and you want something to entertain you and make you laugh, you can worse, like say, the Dan Aykroyd disaster Anything but Trouble, that attempts to have the same vibe, but lacks all the charm of Transylvania 6-5000.

Jonathan Bailey made history this year, as he became the first openly gay man to win Sexiest Man Alive. So, as the release of Wicked: For Good gets closer, he’s being asked about it quite a bit. Recently, he spoke about his new title in an interview with his Wicked co-star Jeff Goldblum, and of course, the Jurassic Park actor had the most on-brand reaction when he learned about the “progress” and “history” that came with the Bridgerton actor being on the cover of People’s iconic issue.

So, ahead of Wicked: For Good’s November 21 premiere on the 2025 movie schedule, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, and the cast of Wicked are promoting it like crazy. Considering this premiere also comes in the days after Bailey was named Sexiest Man Alive, he’s also getting questions about that. When ET discussed his new title with him, the Jurassic World Rebirth star said:

His co-star confirmed all that and stated, “You stand on sexy shoulders,” before the Fiyero actor continued the conversation by mentioning the history that comes with it. Goldblum didn’t realize just how historic this all was at first, though, which led to the following sweet and silly back-and-forth between the two actors:

• Jeff Goldblum: Progress?

No Jeff Goldblum moment is complete without a little bit of singing, though, and that also happened in this interview. Yep, the Wizard actor literally started singing (which shouldn’t surprise anyone) at the start of the clip. Here’s how that back and forth went:

• Jeff Goldblum: [Singing]: You sexy thing.
• Jonathan Bailey: I’ve got Jeff for the next 360 days to be singing that wherever I go.
• Jeff Goldblum: [Singing] He’s too sexy for his shirt.

Now, as you can see in the clip below, both actors had a grand ol’ time in this interview, and seeing them discuss the importance of Bailey being named Sexiest Man Alive was equal parts goofy, charming and sincere:

They really are both so irresistible and delightful, and they’re quite the dynamic duo. Now, I hope we get some more cute moments about Bailey’s new title and their new movie as we get closer to the release of Wicked’s sequel.

I’m sure we will, too. When the first movie came out last year (you can stream it now with a Peacock subscription), they had some irresistible moments – like the time they both started singing during CinemaBlend’s interviews with the Wicked cast. Right as the news of Bailey’s title was announced, the Wicked cast and director took to Instagram to celebrate. That's because we must address how Netflix and the show that helped catapult this fine actor into stardom reacted to the news.

Netflix Shared A One-Word Reaction About The Bridgerton Star Earning This Title

Now, many have been introduced to Jonathan Bailey over the last few years as he’s danced through life on the big screen and rocked the red carpet in his “sluttly little glasses.” However, those of us with a Netflix subscription have known how swoon-worthy he is for a lot longer.

The streamer made that clear too, as it posted this hilarious one-word reaction to news of the Anthony Bridgerton actor’s newest title:

I know I’m not the only Bridgerton fan who has been swooning over Kate and Anthony’s story since 2022. Seriously, Jonathan Bailey playing the viscount introduced so many of us to him, and ever since then, the yearning hasn’t stopped.

I can say from experience that, in my opinion, some of the best romantic relationships are shared by two people who love sharing moments of chills and thrills with each other. In that same vein, I have a lot of respect and admiration for couples who have joined forces to create moments of chills and thrills for others, such as the stars and co-producers of Together, Dave Franco and Alison Brie.

The husband and wife duo are far from the first real-life couple to star in a horror movie together, and, because of the genuine onscreen chemistry they bring to the new 2025 movie, I sure hope they are not the last. In fact, let's begin my little breakdown of notable Hollywood power couples who made some great scary date movies over the years with the stars of Together.

Dave Franco And Alison Brie (Together)

Recent releases like the Oscar-winning The Substance and The Ugly Stepsister have paved the way for a golden era of body horror movies that continues with writer and director Michael Shanks' Together. The new horror movie stars the aforementioned Dave Franco and Alison Brie as Tim and Millie, who find themselves growing too close for comfort when a mysterious force causes them to be involuntarily bound by flesh.

Echoing Eric Eisenberg's Together review, Franco and Brie portray the troubling circumstances of their characters' relationship, even those existing before the supernatural starts to make things worse, so flawlessly that you can't help but wonder about the state of their actual marriage. Of course, by the end, it becomes clear they possess more than enough chemistry to make this bizarre and unsettling, but also funny and even heartwarming thriller a satisfying and touching experience.

John Krasinski And Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place)

I believe 2018's A Quiet Place boasts one of the most astonishingly unique concepts for an alien invasion movie I have ever seen: a world overrun with malevolent, non-seeing extra-terrestrials, forcing the remains of humanity to live in silence. However, I also believe the key to its unnerving effectiveness lies in the lead performances by John Krasinski (who also co-writes and directs) and Emily Blunt.

As Lee and Evelyn Abbott, the beloved power couple, who wed in 2010 and have since had two children, deliver a compelling and authentic sense of devotion to one another and desperation to protect their family at all costs. Had Krasinski not cast his own wife to play his onscreen partner, the film's man-versus-monster suspense could have easily lacked the breathless urgency that made it an instant sci-fi movie classic.

Jeff Goldblum And Geena Davis (The Fly)

Together is not the first body horror flick to star a real-life couple, but it might be the first to involve both romantic leads experiencing the same grotesque situation first-hand. In David Cronenberg's 1986 version of The Fly, Jeff Goldblum's Dr. Seth Brundle slowly becomes a half-human, half-insect hybrid while the love of his life, Ronnie Quaife (Geena Davis), only witnesses the dehumanizing process in shock and heartbreak.

Goldblum and Davis were engaged at the time they shot the revered horror movie remake, having actually met on the set of a 1985 horror-comedy movie called Transylvania 6-5000, and tied the knot the following year, only to split in 1990, according to People. Their genuine affection for each other, which appears to have survived their divorce, based on their 2024 SAG Awards appearance, explodes on the screen, cementing The Fly as one of horror's most unforgettable romantic tragedies.

David Arquette And Courtney Cox (The Scream Movies)

Watching the Scream movies in order is fascinating in the way the cleverly meta slasher franchise traces two notable timelines in pop culture. The subsequent films not only illustrate the modern evolution of the horror genre, but also that of the relationship between two of its most famous stars, David Arquette and Courteney Cox.

The Friends cast member, playing journalist Gale Weathers, and the Dewey Riley actor met on the set of the 1996 original, were dating while they shot the sequel (after some encouragement from Wes Craven), and were married during the third one, but had split before reprising their characters as husband and wife in 2011's Scream 4. However, Cox has since referred to Arquette as her "best friend "(according to People), and that shows in their willingness to reunite and play their roles as divorcees in 2022's Scream, which saw Dewey succumb to Ghostface's knife. However, Arquette has somehow been cast in Scream 7, so it looks like the reign of Dewey and Gale is, thankfully, not over just yet.

Freddie Prinze Jr. And Sarah Michelle Gellar (I Know What You Did Last Summer)

Scream is not the only '90s slasher movie favorite from which romance bloomed behind the scenes. In I Know What You Did Last Summer, Freddie Prinze Jr.'s Ray Bronson may have been dating Jennifer Love Hewitt's Julie James, but the actor really had his eye on their co-star, Sarah Michelle Gellar.

After falling in love on the set of the 1997 thriller, they would later wed in 2002, which is the same year they shared a kiss as Fred and Daphne in the first live-action Scooby-Doo movie. Since Gellar's Helen did not survive the first Summer, the couple was not able to reunite for the arguably more fun 1998 sequel, but she would make a surprise cameo in the 2025 reboot, achieved through a dream sequence, that also allowed her and Prinze the opportunity to have a fun family trip in Australia, where the legacyquel as filmed, as she shared with the country's iteration of Today.

Eli Roth And Lorenza Izzo (Aftershock)

Until their divorce in 2018 after four years of marriage, horror multi-hyphenate Eli Roth and actor and model Lorenza Izzo were one of the genre's top power couples, collaborating on projects like Netflix's Hemlock Grove, The Green Inferno, Knock Knock, and The House with a Clock in Its Walls. Their personal and professional relationship began with a disaster thriller from 2012 called Aftershock.

In addition to co-writing and producing the thriller from director Nicolás López, Roth stars alongside Izzo as survivors of a deadly earthquake in Chile struggling to make it out of the ruined city safely. The Chilean-born actor shared with WWD that she was cast in a leading role when Roth discovered she could speak English and, after spending the entire shoot together and boasting a chemistry that comes through effectively in the film, they became more than scene partners.

It is celebrity couples like these, in addition to the likes of Stranger Things' Charlie Heaton and Natalia Dyer, who prove to me that sometimes the key to a great horror movie, especially ones in which romance plays a pivotal role, is casting two people whose love offscreen is so strong, it's scary.

Jumping into something like Jurassic World Rebirth can be daunting for two very important reasons; and only one of them is the dinosaurs. Joining a 2025 movie that’s part of a legacy including iconic cast members like Jeff Goldblum is something any actor might want to get advice for. Lucky for Jonathan Bailey, not only did he have a chance to gain such wisdom on the Wicked press tour, he got a purely Goldblum response for the ages.

Appearing on Capital FM’s Capital Breakfast in a recent sit down, Bailey was lovingly grilled on everything from Dr. Henry Loomis’ “modest” trousers to accidentally headbutting Ariana Grande in a Wicked rehearsal. The focus of our story comes from promoting Jon M. Chu’s 2024 musical hit, which allowed the break out Bridgerton star to tell this lovely story:

I don’t care what you’re talking about at the moment, getting that sort of go ahead from Jeff Goldblum is gospel. As we’ve seen with Goldblum’s message to Scarlett Johansson, the Jurassic Park movie franchise vet has been uber supportive of the next generation.

So if anyone was going to be putting pressure on Jonathan Bailey during Rebirth's production, it was going to be himself. Which may or may not have included a moment to puzzle out whether those questions about Scarlett Johansson's Rebirth fate were valid or not.

While Bailey understood the weight of Jurassic World Rebirth’s various challenges, he tackled them all admirably. Though with Mr. Goldblum's voice in his ear, I wouldn’t be surprised if part of his prep included rewatching the entire Jurassic universe by way of a Peacock subscription.

Whether that’s true or not, this stage and screen vet still went into director Gareth Edwards’ picture with this beautiful mantra in mind:

Here’s what I knew about Independence Day before watching it for the first time: Bill Pullman gave an iconic speech as the president and the story involved aliens. That’s it; that’s all I knew. So, you better believe that when I watched this movie with my Hulu subscription for the 4th of July, I was shell-shocked. Now, while I loved that epic presidential speech I’d heard so much about, there’s another moment that really made the movie for me that I need to talk about.

All I Knew About Independence Day Was Bill Pullman Gave A Great Speech, And He Did

Now, before we dive into the scene I want to focus on, I need to give flowers where flowers are due. Bill Pullman’s Thomas J. Whitmore is an excellent disaster movie president, and he was exceptional throughout the film which was, apparently, almost called Doomsday. But his speech was the most remarkable moment.

Seeing the fighter pilot-turned-president hop up in the back of that truck with a megaphone and give such a rousing speech was applause-worthy. I mean, I was ready to stand, salute, and go into battle when Pullman’s president said:

And then, this guy hopped off that truck and into a plane to go fight off the aliens. Talk about a hero.

However, there are a lot of heroes involved in this story, and while that speech left a mark, the moment I keep thinking about involves Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith’s trip to space.

It's Will Smith And Jeff Goldblum Flying That Alien Spaceship That Really Got Me

Now, Bill Pullman’s speech was rousing and great motivation to go into battle. However, the real action came from Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum as their characters flew an alien spaceship into the bigger ship that was trying to destroy them.

Throughout the movie, we see Smith’s Captain Steve Hiller (who Ethan Hawke could have played) prove how good he is at his job, and then he takes on the ultimate mission to fly into space. Meanwhile, Goldblum’s scientist, David Levinson, is sent to assist him. They’re an odd couple pairing, however, they worked together so well as they executed an equal parts hilarious and badass alien-destroying sequence.

So, as we’ll discuss in more detail, the moment where these two blow up the enemy is the scene from Independence Day that I can’t stop thinking about.

They're The Ones Who Really Defeated The Big Bad In One Big, Giant, Action-Packed And Funny Sequence

While all the pilots work together to ultimately take down the alien spaceship, the entire reason it’s possible comes down to Steven and David’s actions. They’re the ones who are sent to infect the big ship and fly a literal alien spaceship.

It feels like the most impossible mission; however, they hang on to whatever courage they have and execute the plan. And it works! After hitting the alien, they manage to fly out and effectively blow up the bigger spacecraft that was trying to kill all the humans.

The moment was so victorious that I was clapping on my couch, and I honestly wanted to scream along with Will Smith as he flew that ship out of the bigger ship before it exploded. Plus, the acting going on in the ship mixed with the, honestly, impressive special and practical effects used for the aliens and the explosion left my jaw on the floor.

However, it wasn’t just the epic nature of the moment that made this so memorable; it was also the immaculate comedic chemistry between Smith and Goldblum.

Will Smith And Jeff Goldblum Are The Dynamic Duo I Never Knew I Needed

I’ve seen many of Jeff Goldblum’s best movies, and I’ve also witnessed some of Will Smith’s finest performances, so I’m not sure why I didn’t realize how iconic their work in Independence Day is.

Throughout the film, their individual storylines had me on the edge of my seat and laughing. I mean, Smith dragging that alien through the desert was A+ stuff. However, the real magic started happening when they came together.

Their nervously talking about the “checkmate” and lighting those cigars was a nice vulnerable moment that served as the calm before the big storm. Seeing them share the scene was heartwarming, and I appreciated how they banded together to accomplish this. Then, things got funny.

After Goldblum’s David activated the infection, I got such a kick out of seeing the two through the windshield as they quipped:

• David: Hey, alright, look at us, take a look at the Earthlings. Goodbye!
• Steve: Y’all take care, all right. Nothing but love for you.

Throughout the movie, they both showed off their sense of humor on many occasions; however, there is no better example of it than the way they bicker while getting out of the ship. From quibbling over whether the fat lady has sung, to Goldblum’s backseat driving, to Elvis quotes and impressions, I couldn’t stop giggling while also being in awe of the action.

It was the most entertaining part of the movie, and it served as a major climax that brought everything together. For a lot of the film, the main characters were separate and moving toward each other. To see them all come together to fight off the aliens, and specifically to watch Goldblum and Smith be the ones to really get them in such an epic and funny way, was so satisfying.

Well, all this considered, I know I’ll be rewatching Independence Day next year when the 4th of July rolls around. It’s such a well-done disaster flick that’s full of memorable moments and brilliant performances. However, when I think about what will stick with me the most, it will be this bicker-filled, funny and heroic scene between Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum.

I think it’s safe to say everyone can claim at least one great Jeff Goldblum movie as their favorite from his five decade+ career. As one of the most well known and beloved Hollywood vets today, you’d think he’s met everyone and can keep cool while doing so. Surprisingly, neither case is true, at least when it comes to his recounting of meeting George Clooney earlier this year.

During his stop in at Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote his new album, Still Blooming, Goldblum shared the starstruck moment he had with Clooney. While the Jurassic Park actor thought he’d just be seeing the stage production Good Night and Good Luck, and then meeting the cast, he learned Paul McCartney was there to do the same. So, after thrillingly meeting the Beatles member, the pair went backstage to meet the third mega-hitter and co. with equally exciting energy. Goldblum recalled:

As fans of the 72-year-old have come to know, he’s candidly caring onscreen and off. From his response to being on the '49ers jumbotron this past winter and having gushed about young Scarlett Johansson, to even hyping his Ragnarok peer who left him starstruck, Cate Blanchett, he loves to share that he too is a fan of so much. Now knowing that not only did he meet one of his most admired stars, but two at the same time, shares a lot about his experience.

Jeff Goldblum went on about the behind-the-curtain experience. Humbly, he noted that they ended up taking a picture together, and the Ocean’s actor seemed to have an equal amount of appreciation for The Fly alum. He finished by sharing just how much it all meant:

I love the whole evening for him! Even A-listers need a magical celeb encounter now and again and this seems to fit the bill perfectly for Goldblum, as he and his castmates await Wicked: For Good to hit the 2025 movie guide this November. Frankly, I’m not sure how the Broadway cast handled having the terrific trio all under one roof for the evening, but it sure sounds like an unforgettable night!

The real question is: who will be the next public figure that Jeff Goldblum will gush over meeting? I’d love to know who remains on that list after having George Clooney and Paul McCartney checked off.

The wait is still on for more of the world of Wicked to return to theaters, unless you're one of the fans who attended a special re-release screening ahead of the Wicked: For Good trailer. Stars from the films have been in the spotlight outside of any sequel footage recently, however, with Cynthia Erivo ditching the witch hat and broomstick to host the 78th Tony Awards and Jeff Goldblum contributing to an Oz-themed episode of LEGO Masters without having to suit up as the not-so-wonderful Wizard.

While one of those things certainly was unlike the other in the 2025 TV schedule, both airing so soon after the first trailer for For Good debuted has me back on the Wicked train even with months to go before the sequel hits theaters.

Cynthia Erivo Leads The Tonys To Record Ratings

The 78th Annual Tony Awards aired on CBS (and was available streaming with a Paramount+ subscription) on Sunday, June 8. The reunion of the Hamilton cast had been hyped ahead of time, but I suspect that a big reason why the audience numbers are so great for the broadcast is because of Cynthia Erivo. A Tony winner herself as Best Leading Actress in the stage version of The Color Purple in 2016, the star is riding the high of recognition for her role as Elphaba in Wicked.

The June 8 broadcast reached the largest audience for The Tonys since all the way back in 2019, with a rise of 38% over last year. This makes it the most-watched broadcast of the ceremony since before Broadway temporarily shut down due to COVID in 2020. According to numbers from Nielsen Time Adjusted Live+SD Fast National Data (via CBS), the boost of 38% equals out to an average of 4.85 million viewers beating out last year's 3.53 million.

The 2025 event also reached the largest-ever live streaming audience on Paramount+ with a rise of 208% over last year. No, that's not a typo – 208%. Talk about making history! Cynthia Erivo may not have had to defy gravity on a broomstick a la Elphaba for The Tonys, but her hosting gig certainly smashed CBS records.

And seeing those numbers put me back in a Wicked mood, which prompted me to tune into Fox's LEGO Masters for the first time in a long time for a themed night of block-building action.

While I've been aware of LEGO Masters and its surprises over the years, I never tuned in regularly (or regularly built anything out of LEGO, for that matter) like one of my CinemaBlend colleagues. But when I saw that the Season 5 episode on June 9 would be Wicked-themed, I had to tune in.

And I wasn't expecting any big cameos from the Wicked cast for a one-off episode of a Fox summer show, to the point that I was wondering if LEGO Masters had gotten a really good Jeff Goldblum impersonator to record some audio. Instead, the Wizard himself popped up on screen with a message for the contestants and some comments toward host Will Arnett.

I'm sure it was prerecorded well in advance, but it was fun to see Jeff Goldblum in a video message for LEGO Masters. I wasn't really expecting any cast members to be promoting the movie when the sequel doesn't premiere until November, so it was a pleasant surprise to see that WIcked's night on LEGO Masters wasn't just about building blocks.

Has this turned me into a diehard fan of LEGO Masters who will be tuning in from week to week? Maybe not, but I'm glad I tuned in this week, and Jeff Goldblum guaranteed that I can keep riding the Wicked high that started last week with the For Good trailer and continued with Cynthia Erivo hosting The Tonys.

Video games and movies have always had a close relationship. It’s perfectly normal nowadays to see a movie based on a hit video game, and some of those movies are even good. Years ago, it was much more likely to see a video game based on a hit movie, and those games were almost always bad. Although, the game based on The Lost World: Jurassic Park had one hell of an ending.

The game for the original PlayStation based on The Lost World: Jurassic Park isn’t a particularly great game. Frankly, it's not exactly based on one of the best Jurassic Park movies to begin with, though it's far from the worst movie tie-in game ever made. It does, however, have one of the most iconic endings in the history of the medium. A post containing the entire ending was recently put on Instagram, and it has continued to blow up, as more people discover a video of Jeff Goldblum congratulating them for beating the game, then telling them to turn off the machine and go outside. Check it out.

I have to say, if I spent hours of my life beating a video game, only to have a celebrity come on the screen and basically tell me I just wasted all my time and I should touch grass, I’d probably be upset. I certainly was when my parents said it. But somehow, when Jeff Goldblum does it, it doesn’t feel that bad.

I don’t even remember when I first saw this video. I don’t think I ever actually beat The Lost World game myself, but maybe I had a friend who did. Still, for the era of the original PlayStation, this is actually a great video game ending. Getting a real video of one of the actors from the franchise, who looks like he filmed it during a break on the set, is the sort of thing that couldn’t have happened in previous console games.

Today, video game tie-ins to big movies are a fairly rare occurrence. While they sometimes succeeded in selling well off of name recognition alone, they were frequently terrible due to often-shorted production windows and a frequent relief that since they had the name recognition, money simply didn’t need to be spent.

While a handful of games based on Jurassic World have come out over the years since the rebooted franchise launched, there was never a direct tie-in game that was based on the plot of any of the films. It makes me want to get a game based on the upcoming Jurassic World: Rebirth where Scarlett Johansson or Mahershala Ali tell me to go outside. That alone would be worth playing through it.

Singing and dancing his way into the history books through the 2024 movie Wicked, the effortlessly charming Jeff Goldblum gets to stretch his persona in some exciting ways. However he hasn’t always played the good guy, as anyone who saw his part in 1974’s Death Wish could tell you. Playing “Freak #1” is a notable entry on the Jurassic Park universe legend’s resume, especially since Goldblum has now admitted that he went method and stopped showering for the role.

Needless to say, his co-workers noticed, and pointed it out in prime fashion. As he was chatting with People Magazine about having “trust in the boss” on any film set, Jeff Goldblum offered an early lesson he’d learned which proved that very point. To be fair, his youthful outlook on why he did that for the role is actually not all that weird:

To say that Mr. Goldblum’s Freak #1 is a piece of work is putting it quite mildly. Through his appearance in the first act of the Charles Bronson franchise starter, he participates in the violation of the main character’s wife and daughter. That Death Wish scene is also particularly memorable, as it has the future Dr. Malcolm saying some very NSFW things you wouldn’t normally expect to hear from the Jeff Goldblum who recently gushed about meeting Scarlett Johansson.

Proclaiming himself as the “nice boy from Pittsburgh” he was, you can definitely see why he’d think this would help with getting into character. But as you could tell by the headline at the top, the star of The Fly was eventually given some much needed feedback, considering the environs he described in this further anecdote:

Just as anyone who knows Wicked primarily as a stage play would be shocked to read the difference in Gregory Maguire’s source text, anyone who’s more familiar with the best Jeff Goldblum movies would be taken aback by his role in Death Wish. Thankfully, that feedback would be more focused on the intensity of his character’s vileness, and not the odor he brought to the set.

The ever-expanding Jurassic universe is getting big enough that we’re starting to see the bizarre career coincidences you only get from a franchise that has featured a consistent stream of A-listers over the course of the past 31 years. The cast of Wicked, currently the world’s biggest blockbuster, features none other than Jurassic Park icon Jeff Goldblum, and his costars include the star of next year’s Jurassic World Rebirth, Jonathan Bailey. One would think that the two of them have plenty to talk about when it comes to their shared franchise, but when I brought it up, they didn’t talk about Jurassic at all… they just gushed about Scarlett Johansson.

Johansson stars alongside Jonathan Bailey in the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth. I had to ask both Bailey and Jeff Goldblum about their shared Mesozoic experiences, which was when Goldblum told him about meeting Johansson when she was just a kid, commenting on her youthful vigor in the process:

This comes at an interesting time in Scarlett Johansson’s career. In 2020, she was nominated for her first two Academy Awards, for Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit, after she had already been at the top of the Hollywood food chain for some time. That’s a whole new level of clout, and she’s been reaching the top of her producer game ever since. It makes sense that now is the time she’s choosing to take part in another popular franchise, this time with more creative control and with a visionary with Gareth Edwards at the helm.

You know what else doesn’t hurt Rebirth’s chances? The fact that Jonathan Bailey is more in the public eye than ever as Wicked’s Fiyero, a film that is getting a resounding nod of approval from critics and audiences across the board. Jurassic World Rebirth has already wrapped filming, and you’ll be able to check it out in July of next year! Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park is considered one of the best sci-fi movies of all time, and changed the film world forever. The franchise has never been far from screens, including the Jurassic World trilogy, and the upcoming Jurassic World: Rebirth movie. And Ian Malcom himself Jeff Goldblum recently offered his response to Dominon's poor reception.

Fans were hyped when the original Jurassic Park trio were confirmed to return for Dominion. Unfortunately, reception was chilly on the threequel, which seemed to focus more on bugs than actual dinosaurs. The beloved 71 year-old actor recently spoke to our sister site Total Film about that threequel's reception, offering:

Well, that was honest. Despite the best of intentions and performances from the Jurassic World: Dominion cast, the movie failed to impress audiences and critics alike. And while the ending of Dominion wrapped up the trilogy of movies, we'll be returning to the beloved franchise soon thanks to Rebirth. We'll just have to see if any of the OGs manage to return for that upcoming movie.

Jeff Goldblum's comments help to peel back the curtain on what it's actually like working on a major blockbuster like Jurassic World: Dominion. On paper, the movie seemed like a no-brainer, capitalizing on the popularity of the previous two movies and bringing in the three beloved stars from Steven Spielberg's original film.

Of course, fans will remember that Jeff Goldblum had a small role in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. He basically helped to bookend the blockbuster, warning the world about the chaos of dinosaurs on the mainland. But we got to see him get into the action of Dominion, alongside the new stars as well as Laura Dern and Sam Neill.

Goldblum's Ian Malcolm is arguably the biggest character in Jurassic Park history, as he's had the most appearances in the franchise, with a total of four movies. And while some moviegoers might be hoping he joins Scarlett Johansson in the upcoming movie Rebirth. When asked about that possibility, he offered:

While he didn't officially say there's no chance of him returning, Jeff Goldblum seems to think that his time as Ian Malcolm might have come to an end. Although the "maybe" does offer some hope for folks who want to see the beloved figure return to the big screen. After all, there might be a bunch of new Jurassic movies coming, depending on how well Rebirth performs.

When Cameron Diaz was still a model primarily, one of her first experiences with acting – before making her feature debut in The Mask – was in a TV ad. The future Shrek movie star shines in an early '90s Coca-Cola commercial that feels a lot more like a perfume ad from the era in its alluring direction.

Paul Rudd (Super Nintendo)

All of Paul Rudd's versatile talents – from making us laugh in movies like The 40-Year-Old Virgin to thrilling us as Ant-Man in the Marvel movies – can be traced back to a Super Nintendo commercial he did in the early '90s. He plays a very enthusiastic video gamer who attracts a crowd when he, somehow, hooks up his console to a drive-in theater projector for the ultimate experience of playing The Legend of Zelda and other favorites.

Jennifer Lawrence got to be the original My Super Sweet 16 girl without appearing on the actual reality TV series that documented wealthy young women's extravagant birthday celebrations. Mainstream audiences first became aware of Amy Adams' impeccable singing talent in 2007's Enchanted but customers at Commercial Federal Bank were really the first to discover her. In 1997, the multi-Oscar nominee starred as an Olvia Newton-John lookalike in a parody of 1978's Grease for the bank.

Steve Carell (Brown's Chicken)

Steve Carell's channeled his inner Michael Scott long before leading NBC's The Office cast when he was just starting out acting in commercials. In the early 1990s, he played a Brown's Chicken employee whose clumsy mistake while setting up a marquee advertising "cholesterol-free cooking" accidentally convinces customers the food will cost them nothing.

Drew Barrymore (Pillsbury)

It must have been clear to anyone who spotted Drew Barrymore in her early Pillsbury commercial that she was destined to capture our hearts in E.T. the Extra-terrestrial just a few years later. The 1979 ad stars the then-four-year-old as a little girl whose mother cheers her up on a rainy day by making chocolate chip cookies.

Leonardo DiCaprio (Bubble Yum)

Before breaking out with his supporting role in Growing Pains and really hitting big leading the Titanic cast, the up-and-coming Leonardo DiCaprio did a few commercials. One sees the future Oscar winner demonstrate his natural charisma while demonstrating the powerful flavor of Bubble Yum bubble gum.

Arnold Schwarzenegger (Alinamin V)

You may never be able to look at Arnold Schwarzenegger the same way again after witnessing the series of gobsmackingly bizarre ads the Terminator star filmed in Japan long after his big break. As the spokesperson for an energy drink called Alinamin V, the future California governor puts on a maniacally large smile and is sometimes seen riding the beverage's bottle into space or popping out of it like a genie.

Mila Kunis (Telephone Tammy)

Had Mila Kunis' Jackie Burkhart been a child of the '90s, Telephone Tammy – a doll who responds to your call with an included play phone – sounds like the kind of toy she would have grown up with. Not to mention the fact that the future That '70s Show cast member appeared in a commercial for Mattel when she was just starting out.

Morgan Freeman (Polaroid)

Future Academy Award winner and voice-over extraordinaire Morgan Freeman starred in a number of TV commercials early on in his career. One such ad was a 1970s spot for Polaroid, not as the man holding the camera that instantly prints out photos but the man telling the amateur photographer to cool it with the reshoots.

Britney Spears (Maull's)

Die-hard fans of pop superstar Britney Spears know that she started out as a child actor who worked with Ryan Gosling on The Mickey Mouse Club, among other rising stars. One of her earlier roles was a young girl who was apparently very excited to eat a home-cooked hamburger in a commercial for Maull's Barbecue Sauce, a local St. Louis brand.

Mark Hamill (Kodak)

Before playing Luke in the Star Wars movies made him familiar with technology from a galaxy far, far away, Mark Hamill represented what must have felt like a futuristic innovation at the time. He starred in a 1975 commercial for a Kodak camera that takes high-resolution photos from far away, allowing him to snap a shot of his girlfriend (and her mother) on a balcony while he stays on the ground.

Anne Hathaway (Better Homes And Gardens Real Estate)

Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway first showed her talent for performing in romantic dramas like One Day and The Idea of You in a 1996 commercial for Better Homes and Gardens. She plays a young woman who believes she and her boyfriend will still have time to spend before his family moves away until they learn the real estate agency has already sold the house.

J.K. Simmons (Farmers Insurance)

From his memorable roles in HBO's Oz and Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies, J.K. Simmons was pretty well known by the time he was cast as Professor Nathaniel Burke of the University of Farmers for a long-running Farmers Insurance ad campaign. When he won his Oscar for Whiplash, host Neil Patrick Harris sang an impromptu parody of the company's commercial jingle.

Harrison Ford (Kirin)

Playing Han Solo in Star Wars and the title hero of the Indiana Jones movies made Harrison Ford an international star and one of the highest-grossing actors of all time. He would also increase his notoriety in Japan by starring in a series of commercials for a regional brand of lager called Kirin.

Keanu Reeves (Corn Flakes)

Before playing a master of kung fu in The Matrix, a master of gun-fu in the John Wick movies, and a master of excellency in the Bill & Ted movies, Keanu Reeves played a master of sneaking a bowl of cereal for himself. The role of a waiter who enjoys some of the breakfast food he has been hired to serve comes from an '80s-era ad for Kellogg's Corn Flakes.

Betty White (Snickers)

Snickers had a funny ad campaign starring well-known actors as metaphorical representations of the out-of-character behavior of hungry people. One of the earliest, and funniest, stars the legendary Betty White as a dude who needs a bite of the protein-loaded candy bar when his performance in a casual football game is off.

Bruce Willis (Seagram's Coolers)

When he was best known for Moonlighting and before starring in one of the all-time greatest action movies, Die Hard, Bruce Willis had another claim to fame: Seagram's Golden. He served as the adult beverage's spokesperson in a series of ads, some of which utilized his musical talents.

Jeff Goldblum (Apartments.com)

It's a little strange how a performer as widely recognized and beloved as Academy Award nominee Jeff Goldblum would be hired to star in an ongoing ad campaign as an original character and not just as himself. Nevertheless, the star of Jurassic Park and The Fly is dazzling and dazzling in the Apartments.com commercials as Brad Bellflower.

Sharon Stone (Finesse)

In the 1990s, films like Basic Instinct and her Academy Award-nominated role in director Martin Scorsese's Casino made Sharon Stone one of the most esteemed, and desirable, actors of her time. In the 1980s, her looks helped sell Finesse shampoo as one of the most desirable brands in the hair care market.

Jack Black (Pitfall)

It appears that Jack Black's charismatic, high-energy sense of humor was something he possessed from a young age. Sarah Michelle Gellar (Burger King)

No one would have believed, in 1983, that an adorable six-year-old girl who became a recurring spokesperson for Burger King would grow up to become one of the fiercest horror Scream Queens in the genre's history. Yet, that would become Sarah Michelle Gellar's destiny after leading the Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast as the titular defender against evil.

Tobey Maguire (Tropicana Twister)

In 1991, when he was still a teen, Tobey Maguire did an ad for a blended juice drink from Tropicana called Tropicana Twister. The future Spider-Man actor only briefly appears as a kid who breaks the fourth wall, suggesting that broccoli be added to the next unique flavor combination.

Courteney Cox (Tampax)

Before starring in the Friends cast as Monica Gellar, Courteney Cox was best known in the 1980s for dancing with Bruce Springsteen in the "Dancing in the Dark" video. However, did you catch the future Scream movies star's appearance in a Tampax ad as a gym patron?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Pop-Tarts)

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of the most acclaimed former child stars who still act, with film and TV credits that back to the late '80s and early '90s like Angels in the Outfield and, of course, 3rd Rock from the Sun. If you go back even earlier than those classics, you can see the future Looper and Inception star in a 1991 ad for Kellogg's Pop-Tarts as a child who child urging his father to have breakfast before he leaves for work and offers him the toaster pastry.

Bryan Cranston (Preparation H)

Four-time Emmy winner and one-time Academy Award nominee Bryan Cranston has worn many faces throughout his career, from a hapless suburban dad in the Malcolm in the Middle cast to a ruthless drug lord as the lead of the Breaking Bad cast. Years before then, he wore the face of a spokesperson for Preparation H in a commercial from the early 1980s.

Willem Dafoe (Mercedes Benz)

With roles like one of the best Spider-Man movie villains, Green Goblin, and others, Willem Dafoe has proven time and time again that he plays an exceptional bad guy. Thus, he was the perfect choice to star in a Super Bowl ad for Mercedes Benz as the Devil, who almost convinces a young man to trade his soul for the car until he learns how affordable it is.

Geena Davis (WMET)

With an eclectic career that includes her Academy Award-winning role in The Accidental Tourist, the horror-comedy movie favorite Beetlejuice, and plenty more, it is clear Geena Davis can be anything. So, we imagine early '80s TV viewers who lived in the region where WMET broadcasted had no trouble accepting her as the voice of the local rock radio station when she starred in its enchanting commercial.

Jeremy Renner (Duracell)

Before he was defending the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Avengers, Jeremy Renner made a living as a commercial actor. One of his greatest hits was a 90s-era Duracell ad in which he plays a tourist in Mexico whose stereo battery harnesses the power of a herd bulls.

John Travolta (U.S. Army)

Years before he played Santa in a Capital One ad and sent up his role in Grease for T-Mobile, John Travolta starred in an Army recruitment promo in 1973. Just four years later, his Academy Award-nominated lead role in Saturday Night Fever made him one of the biggest stars on the planet.

While Jeff Goldblum will arguably always be best known franchise-wise for playing Dr. Ian Malcolm in two of the Jurassic Park/World movies, let’s not forget that the actor is also tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Back in 2017, he played Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok, the 17th of the Marvel moves in order, and he had been set to reprise the former leader of Sakaar in Thor: Love and Thunder, but his scenes were cut. But Goldlum doesn’t keep close tabs on the MCU, so getting to see him react to Robert Downey Jr. being cast as Doctor Doom is a wonderfully chaotic experience.

This topic came up while Goldblum was talking with Josh Horowitz about his new series KAOS, which can be streamed with a Netflix subscription. Horowitz initially asked if we can expect to see Grandmaster again in the MCU, and when the actor basically indicated he hasn’t heard anything on that front, the reporter then informed him about how Downey will now bring Doctor Doom, born Victor von Doom, to life following Tony Stark’s death in Avengers: Endgame. Here’s how Goldblum reacted to this twist casting:

I strongly recommend you watch this portion of the interview to hear the above words actually come out of Jeff Goldblum’s mouth, as his eccentric delivery just makes the reaction even better. Josh Horowitz added that “Von Goldblum” would have been wonderful, too, which intrigued the interviewee. That led to him going on a tangent about James Mason’s character in North by Northwest, who was named Phillip Vandamnn, but let’s not go down the rabbit hole with that classic Alfred Hitchcock film.

Although best known for being the Fantastic Four’s arch-nemesis, Doctor Doom has clashed with so many other Marvel superheroes over the decades that he might as well be considered an overarching villain for that entire universe. Now he’s taking over as the lead antagonist of the upcoming Marvel movies Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars from Kang the Conqueror following Marvel Studios firing Jonathan Majors last December. It’s also rumored that he’ll first cameo in the post-credits scene of 2025’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which will follow Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing and The Human Torch confronting Galactus on their Earth.

Of course, there are still a handful of questions that need to be answered about Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, like whether or not this version of Victor von Doom will be a Tony Stark variant or a completely separate individual. You also may join our own Sean O’Connell in expressing concerns about if picking Downey to play Doom was the right call. Either way, Doom is coming to to wreak havoc on the Marvel multiverse in just a few years time, and we’ll pass along more information now what to expect from him as it trickles in.

As for Jeff Goldblum, in addition to KAOS now playing now Netflix, he’ll next be seen playing the Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the two-part Wicked. Part One comes out on November 22, and Part Two will follow on November 26, 2025.

August comes to a close this week and September begins. At the end of this week, we’ll get our monthly content shuffle, but that doesn’t mean that any of the best streaming services are waiting until next month to release some good stuff. There’s plenty new on Netflix and upcoming on Hulu for streaming fans to enjoy before the month is out.

This week sees a couple of popular streaming services bring back new seasons of their most popular shows, while a couple more series debut, in hopes they’ll get the audience's attention enough to get future seasons. A pair of noteworthy theatrical films will also be making their streaming debut, including one that will give those who saw it in theaters a reason to go back and give it another look.

Only Murders In The Building, Season 4 - August 27 (Hulu) 

If there’s a single reason to have a Hulu subscription, it may be Only Murders in the Building. The crime drama/comedy starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez has been near perfect for all three of its previous seasons and fans waiting for the new season are about to be rewarded.

The new season of Only Murders in the Building will see the trio investigate/podcast the death of Jane Lynch’s Roz, who got shot at the end of last season. Was she the intended target, or was the killer trying to get to Steve Martin’s Charles? And how will the fact that Hollywood has now entered the picture impact the friendship?

After Baywatch: Moment In The Sun - August 28 (Hulu)

Even decades later, it still feels weird to say this, but there was a time when Baywatch was the most popular TV show in the world. Maybe it’s the simple fact that pretty people in swimsuits are universal, but one cannot undersell just what a phenomenon the show was.

In a new documentary series many of the Baywatch cast, including Pamela Anderson, will talk about their time on the show and what it was like being part of the world-changing series. We know that Baywatch wasn't a wonderful experience for everybody.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power, Season 2 - August 29 (Prime Video)

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 1 ending left fans with a significant reveal at the end that many have probably continued to think about since then. With Sauron now in the picture, the real battle for Middle-Earth can begin.

Season 2 promises to justify the series name, as the Rings of Power will truly take center stage as Sauron attempts to consolidate his power.

Terminator: Zero, Season 1 - August 29 (Netflix)

Decades after Arnold Schwarzenegger first said “I’ll be back” the Terminator franchise is still quite popular. This is even though few would argue that since Terminator 2: Judgment Day, none of the entries in the series have been particularly special. But if you’re looking for a fresh take on The Terminator and have a Netflix subscription, you'll want to check out Terminator: Zero.

Terminator: Zero is a Japanese anime adaptation of the franchise and it certainly gives Terminator a new look. The story looks to be very similar to what we've seen before. Somebody is trying to stop the future from happening and SkyNet enlists cyborg killing machines to stop them. However, the look and feel of the series are distinctly anime, and that may be enough to set this one apart, and above, other recent attempts.

Cookie Monster’s Bake Sale: Back to School - August 29 (Max)

Two types of series that tend to do well on streaming are kids’ shows and baking competitions. Cookie Monster’s Bake Sale isn’t even the only attempt to bring these two concepts together, but it’s one of the few to get more than one season so it must be doing something right.

Cookie Monster’s Bake Sale: Back to School will see teams of kids compete to raise money for their local libraries by putting on bake sales. Yvette Nicole Brown co-hosts with Cookie Monster in what is guaranteed to be a heartwarming time, and probably the best way to get your kid to watch The Great British Baking Show with you.

Kaos, Season 1 - August 29 (Netflix)

Some actors are so great at what they do, that it’s just fun to watch them do it, under any circumstances. Jeff Goldblum is one of those who has a distinctive style all his own, and if you enjoy his work, you’ll want to see what he’s doing next.

Kaos sees Jeff Goldblum as Zeus. he’s the king of the gods in a modern world that doesn’t believe and doesn’t care about him, and he’s really unhappy about it. It’s hard to guess how much more there is going on in the series than Goldblum simply being Goldblum, but honestly, that might be enough.

The Fall Guy Extended Cut - August 30 (Peacock)

The Fall Guy was one of those movies that critics seemed to enjoy, as did the theatrical audience that went to see it, but unfortunately, the film still struggled to find that audience at the box office. If you’re one of those people who skipped the movie in theaters but were curious about it, you’ll have a chance to see what others enjoyed so much as long as you have a Peacock subscription.

And even if you are somebody who saw The Fall Guy in theaters, you may still want to check the movie out streaming. Peacock is releasing both a theatrical cut and an extended cut so there will be a new version with 20 minutes of additional footage that may make the movie even better.

Kinds of Kindness- August 30 (Hulu)

The last time that director Yorhos Lathimos and actress Emma Stone got together they created Poor Things a movie had a pretty impressive night at the 2024 Academy Awards, especially for Stone who took home her second Best Actress Oscar.

In Kinds of Kindness Stone will just be part of the story, one member of an ensemble telling multiple stories. The movie makes its streaming debut on Hulu this week and is absolutely worth your time if you have the chance to give it your attention.

September is already looking like a strong month for streaming. Disney+ will debut Agatha: All Along. Apple TV+ will be the home for Wolfs starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. There’s a lot of great content on the way as we say goodbye to summer.

I don’t know about you, but I’m already looking toward the world of upcoming 2025 movies. And, yes, one of the reasons is thanks to Jurassic World 4, or whatever this new movie will be named. Someone else who seems absolutely jazzed about another walk in the park is Scarlett Johansson, and her delight was just amplified thanks to Jurassic Universe vet Jeff Goldblum sending her a totally on-brand message to welcome her in.

As Scarlett Johansson was on hand to promote this weekend’s Fly Me to the Moon on The Today Show, it was incredibly fitting for the NBC morning program to have the clout to rope Jeff Goldblum into recording a special video message. You can watch that adorable clip, complete with Ms. Johansson’s reaction, below:

Well that’s certainly something that’d send any Jurassic Park fan dinosaur-ing through the air with excitement! I mean, even if Jeff Goldblum were to just casually chat about the weather with someone on Facetime, that’d be exciting enough. But, to see a truly Jurassic message, in which congratulates you on you spot in the continuing story, is even more of an honor. Many of us probably would've had the same reaction had we been in the Black Widow star's shoes.

To be honest, that’s the same feeling I get knowing that Scarlett Johansson has such love for Steven Spielberg’s 1993 blockbuster. With her place in the Jurassic World 4 cast, alongside the likes of Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali, I feel a sense of confidence knowing that a die-hard fan is helping make this movie.

Plus, in a bit not shown in the Twitter version of this moment, the JoJo Rabbit star corrected her Today host on Dr. Ian Malcolm’s most famous quote from the movie. After seeing her do that, I'm now deathly curious as to how far her trivial knowledge of these movies goes. Quick, someone ask her if The Lost World is still Jurassic canon!

The future seems to be in good hands for this franchise, especially after Jurassic Park writer David Koepp’s surprise return shocked the world. But, now, with Jeff Goldblum’s blessing and air kisses, Scarlett Johansson and co. can find their way while once again giving the late Michael Crichton’s creation life. I know reports are stating that no legacy cast members will be appearing, but is it too late to amend that rule and bring Dr. Ian Malcolm back for a scene or two?

The next Jurassic film will be heading to theaters on July 2, 2025; and you can watch the original 1993 classic yet again through the power of a Peacock subscription. Meanwhile, Fly Me to the Moon hits theaters this Friday. Sadly, there are no dinosaurs in that film, unless there’s a third act twist that puts a velociraptor into the mix. Life -- like Scarlett Johansson -- always does find a way to surprise us all.

I don’t know what I expected from CinemaCon 2024’s Wicked presentation, but Universal pulled out all the stops for a movie that fans were clearly already very excited about, judging by the response in the room. Blocking off nearly a fourth of their allotted time, the studio brought out Director Jon M. Chu, as well as a large swathe of the cast including Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey and, of course, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. 

There was a literal light show. The Wicked cast spoke out more freely about their experiences making the movie with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo opening up about "speaking publicly" for the first time. To be clear, Ariana has talked a little about becoming Glenda for the movie and Erivo has spoken about the movie being split in two, but as Erivo said, those were just little "hints." Now they're able to talk in depth and they did.

We learned new details and perspectives from the cast and crew. If you weren't excited already, I hope you will be after. 

New Footage Shows Off More Moments With Glinda and Elphaba Bonding At Shiz University And More

You’ve seen the Wicked trailer. Seeing that on a big screen was all color and light and darkness swirling into one stunning visual spectacle. Some of the moments were repeated from the Super Bowl trailer, like the “you’re green” comment from Glinda, but a lot of the women's relationship was expanded out. We got to see Glinda and Elphaba being forced to share a room, we got to see as Elphaba’s powers grew and started to manifest in myriad ways. We got to see the small cracks in Glinda’s perfect facade as Elphaba gained attention. And most gloriously, we got to see them visit Oz. 

We also got snippets of “Popular” and “Defying Gravity” as well. Naturally, people lost their s–t.

John Chu Says Families Will “Cherish These Performances”  For Years

When speaking about the goal of why he wanted to adapt Wicked for the movies, Chu opened up about seeing Wicked in San Francisco decades ago and how that lit the fuse for him to want to make the film. His goal when creating it was as follows:  

They really are bulllish. Producer Marc Platt also spoke out about finding Erivo and Grande for the movie. They looked at what seems to have been a very large swathe of applicants before landing on their two leading ladies, and the team feels both Wicked movies are going to be very important for a long time. 

Cynthia Erivo And Ariana Grande Bonded Over “So Many Pairs Of Lashes.” And Brooms. Don’t Forget Brooms. 

In one of the sweetest moments, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande headed onto the stage in the complementary green and pink shades favored by their two characters. This was a Wicked fashion strategy Grande and Erivo also used at the 2024 Oscars. Once they were onstage they spoke about their fandom for the musical, how Grande's started at 15 and Cynthia's journey started at 25 when she took herself on a "date" to see the show. 

Once they landed the roles, they ultimately ended up sharing a lot of experiences together, and a cute moment came when Grande shared some of those.

Erivo shared the two are "bonded for life," and from what everyone was saying the last year of creating these two films for the big screen was intense but also led to a lot of cool experiences.  

Jeff Goldblum Was Very Impressed He Got To Work On A Practical Set

As a man coming off Jurassic World: Dominion, Thor: Ragnarok, and more many of Jeff Goldblum’s big set piece movies have had a lot of green screen lately. Which is why he was so impressed with the way that Wicked was shot, an experience he says was largely practical and was notable for that reason, even though he's gotten to do some "colorful" pictures, like "being chased by dinosaurs" and flying "into the belly of a humongous alien spaceship that was hovering over our sweet planet" before. Why was Wicked special? 

Goldblum also got to "wear a delicious long green coat" and "do some acting" so he was happy as a clam to be signed on to play the Wizard. 

Michelle Yeoh Called Singing In Wicked "Terrifying" 

Michelle Yeoh and Jon M. Chu got into a little bit of back-and-forth onstage as Yeoh asked the Wicked and Crazy Rich Asians director why he always seems to be casting her in somewhat unlikable rolls. Chu joked they are roles that "have facets." Yeoh also mentioned singing was "terrifying" for her in Wicked but she did it anyway, to which the director also had a fun retort.

Yeoh:  "John even got me to sing in this movie! It was terrifying." 

Chu: "There’s nothing you can’t do. You played a literal rock in a movie."

He was speaking about Yeoh's turn in Everything Everywhere All At Once in which she and her onscreen daughter Stephanie Hsu do play rocks in one memorable scene. 

All in all, the panel didn't disappoint. There were light up tulips in every corner of the venue. There was new footage. There were a lot of crowd shouts and cheers! There was just enough new info from the cast and creative team to whet our palates. And there will doubtless be more coming from Wicked as we continue moving through the 2024 movie release schedule. After all, the flick will be out at Thanksgiving this year. 

The Eras Tour has shown us just how many celebrities are hard core Swifties. Mindy Kaling was living her best life at one of her LA shows, and Paul Rudd and Aaron Rodgers really lived it up while listening to the singer’s greatest hits. But who knew that Jeff Goldblum was gonna go all out for her SoFi stadium show? He may be used to looking up in awe and wonder at Steven Spielberg’s dinosaurs, but by his reaction to the Eras Tour, Taylor Swift had a similar effect on him. 

While he is known for his quirky personality and iconic characters he’s played over the years, his emphatic love for Taylor Swift is adding a new layer to Goldblum. He attended one of her shows from the Eras Tour with his wife, and couldn’t say enough great things about “Cruel Summer” singer’s show and the electric energy in the room. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he said:

It is a tradition at Taylor Swift concerts for fans to exchange friendship bracelets with references to her music and her different album eras. The practice comes from a line in one of her songs “You’re On Your Own Kid,” where Swift sings “make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it.” Goldblum shared some of the bracelets acquired by fans on his Instagram, and showed off is incredible Swiftie attire. Goldblum is a massive music fan, so his praise should not be taken lightly. He has released albums with The Midred Snitzer Orchestra, and also told ET that Swift was welcome to join him if she was so inclined. Swift has sung with celebs before, like Lisa Kudrow, who joined the Grammy winner on stage for a rendition of "Smelly Cat," during the 1989 Stadium Tour. Maybe it will soon be Goldblum’s turn to take the stage. Swift is also directing a movie down the road, and I could totally see The Fly actor being involved in some way.

For Goldblum to be impressed by a spectacle is also no small feat. The actor has been a part of some of the biggest blockbusters of all time and is no stranger to massive set pieces in movies like Thor: Ragnarok and Independence Day. He even got to be on the soundstage when a giant robotic T-Rex attacked the theme park jeep in Jurassic Park, which became one of the most iconic scenes of all time. The Asteroid City actor being wowed definitely says something about the Midnights singer’s show, and why people are showing up to watch the pop princess play her greatest hits. 

Taylor Swift is set to embark on the international leg of the Eras Tour, so get tickets to see her show if you can. Fans who may have missed her historic run in the US can get a glimpse of her performer capabilities by streaming the 2018 concert film, Taylor Swift Reputation Stadium Tour with a Netflix subscription. You can also see Jeff Goldblum giving a legendary performance of his own in Jurassic Park, which is streaming now for Amazon Prime Video subscribers. 

It isn’t that uncommon for a director to build a troupe of actors and continually call on them for the latest and greatest projects. Greats like Martin Scorsese, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Christopher Nolan have done it a lot over the years, working time and time again with the likes of Robert De Niro, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Cillian Murphy, respectively; and so too does Wes Anderson.

In addition to each of his movies featuring a unique sense of style and humor, as well as his signature shots, Anderson’s work has largely featured the same group of actors (though some get off the bus while others get on) taking on various roles. Names like Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, and Owen Wilson quickly come to mind when this discussion is brought up, but who’s appeared in the most movies directed by the quirky and eccentric filmmaker? Well, funny you should ask… 

Bill Murray - 9 Movies 

In a June 2023 interview with Deadline, Anderson said he “can’t imagine not working with” Bill Murray again, and that the only reason the actor wasn’t part of Asteroid City was because he contracted COVID ahead of production. But, even though he didn’t appear in the movie CinemaBlend’s Eric Eisenberg called a “meta, Looney Tunes-esque delight,” he’s still the most prolific of all of Anderson’s collaborators.

In fact, since first working with the filmmaker for his 1998 sophomore effort, Rushmore, Murray has appeared in all of his movies, both live-action and animated, outside of the aforementioned Asteroid City. This comes to a total of nine films. He doesn’t always have the biggest role, but more times than not, he steals the show.

Jason Schwartzman - 8 Movies

Jason Schwartzman, in addition to being on one of the greatest HBO shows that ended too early, has also been one of Anderson’s most called upon stars, including for Asteroid City. Since first landing the starring role in Rushmore (his feature film debut), the former Phantom Planet drummer has appeared in all but two of the director’s movies: The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

Schwarzman isn’t always the main attraction, but more times than not, he serves as a nice addition in films like The Grand Budapest Hotel and Moonrise Kingdom. And, when he’s not around, the actor’s absence can be felt.

Owen Wilson - 7 Movies

The partnership shared by Owen Wilson and Wes Anderson is unlike any other on this list, as the Loki star has not only acted in seven of the director’s movies, but also co-written several of them. They first collaborated on the 1994 short film, Bottle Rocket, which would be turned into their respective feature film debuts two years later. The future “Frat Pack” member would also receive writing credit for Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums, though he didn’t act in the former (maybe his spot in the Armageddon cast got in the way).

Since then, the Texas native has been in every Anderson movie save for Moonrise Kingdom, Isle of Dogs, and Asteroid City. His roles have ranged from the lead in The Darjeeling Limited to small parts in the likes of The French Dispatch.

Adrien Brody - 5 Movies

Unlike the first three actors on this list, Adrien Brody didn’t start working with the director until his fifth movie, The Darjeeling Limited. But ever since appearing in the 2007 comedy about three estranged brothers who embark on a “spiritual journey,” the Academy Award-winning actor has appeared in five of Anderson’s movies, missing only two: Moonrise Kingdom and Isle of Dogs.

Some of Anderson’s best movies have featured Brody in roles ranging from minor parts like Mouse in Fantastic Mr. Fox to unforgettable characterizations in the likes of The Grand Budapest Hotel, and everywhere in between. 

Anjelica Huston - 5 Movies

Anjelica Huston, with her Oscar, Golden Globe, and collection of other accolades, is another prolific collaborator of Anderson’s. Since playing Etheline Tenenbaum in 2001’s The Royal Tenenbaums, the actress appeared in four additional movies, the most recent being The French Dispatch, which featured her as the narrator for the movie’s introduction.

It should also be noted that Huston does appear in the Isle of Dogs cast, even though she plays a character listed as “Mute Poodle,” as Anderson couldn’t find a proper speaking role for the talented actress. 

Bob Balaban - 5 Movies

Although he is best known for his appearances in Christohper Guest’s movies, Bob Balaban is also a frequent collaborator with Wes Anderson, appearing in a total of five movies over the years.

Ever since he provided the narration in Moonrise Kingdom, Balaban has had some kind of role in Anderson’s films, including the 2023 release of Asteroid City. He’s not the first actor you probably think of when discussing the filmmaker’s work, but Balaban is prolific nonetheless. 

Edward Norton - 5 Movies

Just like Balaban and the actress who follows just below, Edward Norton has appeared in all five of Wes Anderson’s most recent films dating back to Moonrise Kingdom. These appearances have been all over the place, with the talented actor playing every type of character from a boy scout leader in the 2012 coming-of-age comedy to an inspector from a fictional European country in The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Norton most recently appeared in Asteroid City, in which he played Conrad Earp, the legendary playwright who crafted the stage production at the heart of the movie. 

Tilda Swinton - 5 Movies

Including her portrayal of a tenacious and determined social services worker in Moonrise Kingdom, Tilda Swinton has had a sizable role in five of Anderson’s movies. The talented Academy Award-winning actress has helped bring to life some of the filmmaker’s most unforgettable characters during that stretch, including writer J.K.L. Berensen in the first of three main stories in the 2021 comedy film, The French Dispatch.

Swinton brings a fun and unique energy to each of her performances in his movies, which is probably why the director continues to call up on her as often as he does.

Willem Dafoe - 5 Movies

Willem Dafoe first worked with Wes Anderson in 2004’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, which just happens to be one of the actor’s best movies. Since he played Zissou’s deeply devoted first mate, Klaus Daimler, nearly 20 years ago, Dafoe has gone on to appear in four additional Anderson pics, the most recent being Asteroid City.

Though his characters have been all over the spectrum of good and evil, Dafoe has been consistently great in each of his portrayals, creating some hilarious, heartfelt, and unforgettable moments, even when he doesn’t get a lot of screen time.

Jeff Goldblum - 4 Movies

And then there is Jeff Goldblum, who has appeared in a total of four Anderson movies. The partnership started with 2004’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and has continued sporadically over the years. 

The iconic actor most recently appeared in Asteroid City, but we won’t go into the identity of his character so that we don’t spoil anything for those who have yet to see the movie.

These are Wes Anderson’s most prolific collaborators, but there are many other actors who have appeared in his various releases for the past quarter-century or so. Luke WIlson (3), Tony Revolori (3), Liev Schreiber (3), Fisher Stevens (4), Frances McDormand (3), Jeffrey Wright (2), and countless others have worked with the director on more than one occasion. We can expect this list to change in time, especially with The Phoenician Scheme on the way.

The Wicked movie has been in development for what feels like forever. So, when we finally learned that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo would be playing the main witches, many of our reactions were similar to theirs – which was pure elation. 

Now, even more actors have been announced as part of the ensemble for Jon M. Chu’s adaptations of Wicked, so, with the movie slated on the 2024 movie schedule, let’s break it down.  

Cynthia Erivo 

Cynthia Erivo will be taking the mantel as Elphaba in Wicked, the green witch who is also known as the Wicked Witch of the West. Originated on Broadway by the legendary Idina Menzel, Elphaba goes on a journey that ultimately turns her into the wicked witch. Other things to know about Erivo's character are: she sings one of the production's show-stopping numbers “Defying Gravity,” and she also has some excellent duets with Glinda and various other characters. When asked about singing in the movie, Erivo said that during one song "heart broke open and tears fell," so I think we're in for a treat.

Elphaba will be played by the Grammy and Tony-winning as well as Oscar-nominated actress Cynthia Erivo. In 2016 she won both the G and T in EGOT for her performance in the revival of the musical The Color Purple. Following her stint on Broadway, she made the jump to film; in 2019 she played Harriet Tubman in Harriet. She ended up receiving two Academy Award nominations, one for Best Actress and another for Best Original Song because she wrote and performed the song “Stand Up” for the bio-pic. 

Between her remarkable work on stage, and her experience with movies, I think it’s safe to say she is the perfect person to play Elphaba, and this role could get her one step closer to an EGOT. 

Ariana Grande 

These days, Ariana Grande is best known for her numerous pop hits, like “Thank U, Next” and “No Tears Left to Cry,” however, she’s also a talented actress and has a background in theater, making her the perfect person to play Glinda to Erivo’s Elphaba. Glinda, or the Good Witch as she becomes known, is Elphaba’s bubbly counterpart. The pink-loving, fast-talking witch befriends Elphaba, and the two embark on a journey of friendship, clashing personalities and ultimately fall out. 

Grande will be in this role originated by Kristin Chenoweth on Broadway. While the singer hasn’t had much acting experience recently, she was in Hairspray Live! a few years ago, and she became known through her work on the musical-adjacent Nickelodeon show Victorious. She also made her Broadway debut in 2008 in the musical 13. 

So, with all that being said the singer has the vocal range, acting ability, history on stage, and love for Wicked to play Glinda with gusto across Wicked’s two movies. Plus, we all saw that clip of her singing "Popular" in the trailer, she was born for this.

Jonathan Bailey 

You know him from Bridgerton, but did you know that Jonathan Bailey is a seriously accomplished West End actor, and he has appeared in numerous musicals throughout his career? Now, he’ll get to take his musical skills to the big screen, where he’ll be playing Fiyero in Wicked. 

It’s safe to say the internet lost its collective mind when it found out Bailey was cast in these movies. He’s proven through the first two seasons of Bridgerton that he is a fantastic romantic actor and love interest. However, it’s his West End experience that makes him perfect to play this prince. Notably, he won a Laurence Olivier Award in 2019 for his role in the revival of Company. He has also worked on productions of Cock, The Last Five Years and the musical adaptation of American Psycho. So, he has the acting chops and the pipes to play this iconic character originated by Norbert Leo Butz.

For some background on Fiyero, Bailey will be playing the prince who falls in love with Elphaba throughout the musical. However, Glinda is also crushing on Fiyero, causing quite the love triangle. So, even though the Bridgerton star will be “Dancing Through Life,” he’ll also be navigating murky romantic waters with these two ladies.  

Jeff Goldblum 

So, this is incredible casting, I mean the entire movie is well cast, but Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard, like the Wizard of Oz, is truly iconic. The actor will be playing the main antagonist in the musical, who takes Elpahba under his wing, which eventually leads to her becoming Wicked. I personally can’t wait to see the jazz man sing songs like “A Sentimental Man” and “Wonderful,” I just know he’ll make it 100% his own. 

Other than the energy, which single-handedly qualifies Goldblum for this role, he also has a filmography and theater resume that shows he’s a fine fit for the Wizard. Obviously, we know the actor for his roles in Jurassic Park, Independence Day, and Thor: Ragnarok. However, he’s also had quite the stage career, appearing in The Pillowman, The Moony Shapiro Songbook, and Seminar. On top of that, he’s also a jazz musician, which really proves that Goldblum will be so much fun to watch as he sings and dances through Oz as the Wizard. 

Michelle Yeoh 

To top off her amazing 2022, Michelle Yeoh was cast as Madame Morrible in the Wicked movies. The actress is known for her incredible work as both an actress and a martial artist in films like 2022’s hit Everything Everywhere All At Once, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Tomorrow Never Dies. She’s also become well known for her dramatic roles in films like Crazy Rich Asians – which was directed by Wicked’s director Jon M. Chu. 

As Yeoh and Chu reunite, she will be playing Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Crag Hall at Shiz University. Yeoh’s character uses her school to recruit soldiers for the Wizard (which means we’ll see her and Goldblum together). It will be fun to see Yeoh tap into a sinister side, and after seeing her absolutely slay every version of Evelyn in Everything Everywhere All at Once, I’m positive she will blow us all away with this role.  

Peter Dinklage

Continuing on this streak of iconic casting, Peter Dinklage will be the voice of Dr. Dillamond in Wicked. The news was revealed during the CinemaCon presentation for the film (per Deadline), after months of speculation about who would be playing the goat who is Shiz University's professor of history. 

Well, they chose a true G.O.A.T. for the role. Peter Dinklage is best known for his role as Tyrion Lannister in the Game of Thrones cast, and he won four Emmys for playing the legendary character. Along with that, he also appeared in movies like X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Sankes and Cyrano. Truly, Wicked is simply another feather in this man's already incredible hat. 

Ethan Slater 

According to Variety, Broadway star Ethan Slater will be joining the cast of Wicked as Boq, Elphaba and Glinda’s pal from Munchkinland who goes to school with them, he is also Nessarose’s love interest. 

Slater joins the cast as another actor with lots of professional experience on the stage. He’s best known for his Tony-nominated role as the titular character in the musical adaptation of SpongeBob SquarePants. Since then, he’s starred in Off-Broadway productions of Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins and appeared in the limited series Fosse/Verdon. 

Keala Settle 

You may not recognize her name immediately, but I’m almost certain you will recognize her voice, because Keala Settle is the woman who sang the smash hit Oscar-nominated song from The Greatest Showman “This Is Me.” While this alone qualifies her in my opinion to be in the Wicked movies, she also has a rich history of performing on Broadway. She originated the role of Becky in Sara Bareilles’ musical Waitress, she also starred in the 2014 Broadway revival of Les Misérables as Madame Thenardier. 

According to Playbill, Settle will be playing Miss. Coddle in Wicked. This character will be a new addition to the musical, so it will be exciting to see how Miss. Coddle fits into the world of Oz. 

Bowen Yang 

Bowen Yang will also be making his way to the musicals, according to Playbill, as he’s been cast as Shiz student and Glinda’s friend Pfannee in Wicked. That means he’ll be hanging out with Ariana Grande and her pals at Shiz University, which will be super fun. 

These days, Yang is best known for his tenure on Saturday Night Live, where he has been part of one of the show’s best single-season casts. Along with SNL, the comedian also starred in the rom-com Fire Island, and he had cameos in movies like The Lost City and Bros. I’m sure Yang and his signature sassy sense of humor will be wonderful in the world of Wicked. 

Marissa Bode 

Marissa Bode will be making Wicked history, according to Playbill, as she will be the first wheelchair-using actress to play Nessarose (a character who does use a wheelchair in the show). The young actress will make her big screen debut in this film where she will play a very important role in Chu’s adaptations of Wicked. 

Nessarose is Elphaba’s younger sister, known as the Wicked Witch of the East, Boq is also crushing on her throughout the musical. It’s so exciting that Bode will make her film debut in this massive movie, and it will be fun to see her on-screen as such a well-known character. 

Bronwyn James 

Bronwyn James joins the cast of Wicked as Glinda’s friend ShenShen, per Playbill. The young actress was in the original West End production of Hangmen, and has since gone on to have roles in TV shows like Harlots, Wild Bill and movies like The Dig. 

Colin Michael Carmichael 

Nikidik is a teacher at Shiz University in the book, and is a minor chracter in the musical, in the movie he will be played by Colin Michael Carmichael according to Playbill. The actor has had minor roles in TV shows like Outlander and Black Mirror. He has also had small roles in movies including Hot Fuzz.   

Aaron Teoh Guan Ti 

Aaron Teoh Guan Ti will play Avaric according to Playbill, Boq’s roommate at Shiz University and a frenemy to Elphaba in the books. However, in the musical Avaric is Fiyero’s driver and a very minor character. Considering Wicked will now be two movies, it will be fun to see if Avaric takes on a role in the story more as he did in the books rather than on Broadway. 

As for Teoh Guan Ti, this will be his first major role in a movie. He has been working in theater for a while now, as he’s starred in productions of The King and I and Merrily We Roll Along. 

There you have it, the entire cast for the upcoming Wicked movies. Part one of the musical directed by Jon M. Chu will hit theaters on November 22, 2024 and part two will be released on November 26, 2025. The upcoming Wicked movies just made another incredible casting decision by bringing Jurassic Park star Jeff Goldblum into the fold of the musical adaptations. The actor and charismatic Hollywood icon is reportedly in final negotiations to join the likes of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s Glinda and Wicked Witch in a major role. 

Jeff Goldblum will play the Wizard. Yeah as in The Wizard of Oz in Wicked, who serves as a key antagonist in the popular Broadway musical. The actor is in “final talks” to join Jon M. Chu’s two-part take on the beloved title, per Variety. 

Alongside Goldblum’s notable accomplishments in film, the actor is a gifted theatre actor with numerous credits from Broadway to the West End. Jeff Goldblum also has a jazz band called Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. In addition to that, if you’re familiar with Wicked, Goldblum's charms just fit the character of the Wizard. It’s seriously inspired casting. 

In Wicked, the Wizard has three songs. He has a solo called “A Sentimental Man,” which occurs toward the end of Act 1 and a duet with Elphaba (set to be played by Cynthia Erivo) called “Wonderful” in Act II, and he’s also part of the opening number “No One Mourns The Wicked.” 

The Wizard is also a key character throughout the musical, meeting Elphaba and Glinda when they visit the Emerald City after the two polar opposite roommates become friends at school. After meeting Elphaba, who thinks of the Wizard as her own personal hero, he invites her to be his personal assistant. This decision later leads to the creation of the Wicked Witch, which we won’t detail, just in case you’ve somehow slept on the musical. 

Prior to Jeff Goldblum’s casting news, it was announced just over a month ago that Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey had boarded the Wicked movies as Fiyero, Elphaba’s love interest. So far, that about does it for the Wicked cast, who’ve reportedly been in rehearsals and may be kicking off filming shortly, if Ariana Grande’s recent turn to blonde locks are any indication.

The Wicked film adaptation is being split into two movies, which was decided by the filmmakers after developing the musical for film. Director Jon M. Chu shared that they realized it would be “impossible” to make the story fit into one movie without “doing some real damage to it.” With that in mind, it looks like we’ll get the full musical between the two movies. 

Wicked is set to hit theaters on December 25, 2024, with the second part coming out the following year. While we wait for that day, check out what upcoming 2022 movies are coming out this holiday season as it soon approaches.

Jeff Goldblum and his fellow Jurassic World Dominion cast members have been having an absolute blast while promoting the film, and I personally can’t get enough of it. The Jurassic World sequel was a box office success and has firmly solidified itself as one of the biggest movies of the year. Much of this can arguably be attributed to  the fact that Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Goldblum reprised their roles from the original 1993 film, Jurassic Park. Though the film came out nearly 30 years ago, Goldblum has proved that he can snap right back into his Dr. Ian Malcolm role and did so in humorous fashion during a trivia game.

Jeff Goldblum, along with co-stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and DeWanda Wise played the Jurassic Park trivia game during a segment for BuzzFeed. During the game, they tested each other's knowledge of Steven Spielberg's classic film. They were obviously all rockstars and did fantastic on the quiz, but Goldblum in particular seemed to emulate his character. While correctly remembering that Dr. Ian Malcom specialized in “chaos theory,” the actor quipped:

His co-stars were quite tickled by his quick response, especially Bryce Dallas Howard, who couldn’t help but crack up at the clever pun. You have to love seeing such an iconic actor back in his element. The original Jurassic Park cast seemed excited to be welcomed back to the iconic franchise, and their nostalgia is infectious. Jeff Goldblum previously said that he found his reunion with Laura Dern and Sam Neill  "exciting." 

Many fans seemed to love seeing their favorite scientists back on screen and once trying to save the world from the consequences of the ill-advised dinosaur theme park. The Jurassic World cast especially loved spending time with their predecessors, who did a great job entertaining everyone during what ended up being a long pandemic-influenced production. I’m so glad this cast used a difficult shoot as an opportunity to bond over such a unique, shared experience. 

Jurassic World Dominion was meant to serve as the conclusion to this era of the franchise, so it may be a while before we see any further installments in the dino-centric series. However, this franchise has been rebooted before, so you never know what could happen. Director Colin Trevorrow intentionally kept the original trio alive in the finale, so it certainly leaves the door open for the OG cast to appear once more. It's like Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcolm says, "Life, uh... finds a way."

From a certain angle, Thor: Love And Thunder is akin to a family reunion for the Thor series. While Thor: Ragnarok previously took the God of Thunder away from Earth and his human friends to make new pals in the cosmos, the most recent Marvel Cinematic Universe movie made efforts to have OG Thor stars Kat Dennings, Stellan Skarsgård, and Natalie Port reprise their roles alongside Ragnarok introductees like Tessa Thompson and Taika Waititi.

One actor who sadly doesn't show up in the Marvel sequel is Jeff Goldblum, who isn't brought back in his role as The Grandmaster – but concept art has revealed not only that there were thoughts about the character's return, but that he was going to have an interesting new look.

With Thor: Love And Thunder having been in theaters for more than a month now, concept artist Laurent Ben-Mimoun has been sharing some of the work he did in the development of the movie on his personal Instagram page, and that includes a depiction of The Grandmaster who is looking quite different these days:

You have to zoom into the image to notice the details, but when you do, they're unmistakable:  Jeff Goldblum's The Grandmaster has bionic limbs. His left arm seems to be ok, but his legs and right arm seem to have been replaced with machinery.

This is a sensical development when one thinks about it. When we last saw The Grandmaster, it was in the post-credits coda of Thor: Ragnarok. The scene features the character shortly after his ship crashes amid his pursuit of Thor, Hulk, and Valkyrie, and after crawling out of the wreck he is surrounded by the disgruntled denizens of Sakaar. The brief bit ends before any action takes place, but based on the concept art above, it appears as though the antagonist was ripped limb from limb and only survived thanks to technology (as well as the fact that he is one of the Elders of the Universe).

Reflecting on the events in Thor: Love And Thunder, it's hard to pick a proper spot where this depiction of The Grandmaster could have been included – which leads one to the conclusion that this artwork may have been commissioned based on an early version of the script by Taika Waititi and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

In addition to the peek at the potential new look for Jeff Goldblum in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (we'll have to wait and see if it becomes canon), Laurent Ben-Mimoun also shared a piece depicting an element of Thor: Love And Thunder that did make it into the final cut: the Goat Boat.

I can't say that the tone/atmosphere of the concept art fully captures the energy of Taika Waititi's work (the goats don't quite look like they are about to let out their wild screams, for example), but the lighting is beautiful, and the design of the Goat Boat itself is wonderful. 

Thor: Love And Thunder is still playing in theaters (it ranked in sixth place at the box office this past weekend), but the Marvel movie will also be arriving on home video soon. It's been announced that the blockbuster will be made available to stream for Disney+ subscribers on September 8, and a 4K/Blu-ray release is expected shortly after (an official date has not been revealed).

When you think of Jeff Goldblum, recognizable roles like Jurassic Park, Independence Day, and even the Apartments.com commercials may come to mind. He’s even played the voice of God in an episode of Syfy’s Happy! While he’s been a normal God to fans after so many years, you can actually see him play a Greek God in a new series coming to Netflix.

Greek mythology stories have touched the hearts of many movie and TV fans such as the box office recording breaking DCEU movie Wonder Woman and the upcoming Percy Jackson series coming to Disney+ streaming. According to Deadline, Netflix will have a new Greek mythology series starring Jeff Goldblum in Kaos. His role as King of the Gods was initially supposed to be played by Hugh Grant, but he had to drop out due to date unavailability. 

In this darkly comedic contemporary take on Greek mythology, The End of the F***ing World creator Charlie Covell’s new show Kaos will be about how the insecure yet vengeful Zeus wakes up one morning to realize he’s starting to age, setting him off on a paranoid path. This ensemble cast includes Ozark’s Janet McTeer, Avatar: The Way of Water’s Cliff Curtis, Harry Potter’s David Thewlis, Prodigal Son’s Aurora Perrineau, and much more. I Hate Suzie’s Georgi Banks-Davies is the lead director and executive producer with Sex Education’s Runyararo Mapfumo directing the second block. With Covell’s BAFTA-nominated series The End of the F***ing World being a real hit for Netflix streamers, this dark yet comedic take of Greek mythology will most certainly hone in more fans for Covell.

It’s no wonder why Jeff Goldblum of all actors would be picked to play a modernized version of a Greek God. He’s already a God to us all in the Disney+ documentary series The World According to Jeff Goldblum as we are on a journey with him to discover aspects of the world that we don’t know about. He also reunited with his Jurassic World chums Laura Dern and Sam Neill in Jurassic World: Dominion reprising his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm. We can’t get enough Goldblum, can we?

Why fans continue to love Jeff Goldblum so much is no secret. He got himself ready to play the wonderfully dressed Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok where he brought out the absurd energy we remember him for. He also graced audiences with that same kooky energy in Wes Anderson films like when he was added to the ensemble cast of The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Not to mention his off-camera moments such as when he posts sweet singing videos of himself with Sam Neill. It seems that the Jurassic Park actor is willing to take on anything and we’ll all be interested in where he goes next in his career.

While most people might still agree that the finest chapter of the Jurassic Park movies (which you watch streaming), so far, is still the 1993 original, the second installment is certainly not without its fans. Director Steven Spielberg would return to helm 1997's The Lost World: Jurassic Park - which takes place on another island overrun with prehistoric beasts, and also sees dinosaurs visit to the United States for the first time in the franchise.

However, what really sells an entertaining thriller as a worthy follow-up (outside of the creepier suspense and breathtaking creature effects, of course) is the onscreen talent involved, such as Jeff Goldblum - who would later also play Dr. Ian Malcolm a fourth time in the 2022 movie release, Jurassic World Dominion - and future Academy Award winner Julianne Moore. In the original Jurassic Park, there are more iconic scenes than one movie can typically manage. But among them, it’s tough to forget Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm laying shirtless and sweaty midway through the movie. This moment was even once commemorated via a giant statue in London. But as Goldblum was recently asked about how the scene came to be, he got honest that Laura Dern actually had to remind him. 

Nearly thirty years following the release of Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, fans of the 1993 movie are still talking (and gushing all over) that shirtless scene. While speaking to SiriusXM, Goldblum shared that he couldn’t recall why and how Ian Malcolm came to create that beloved and steamy image. In his words: 

The new movie release of Jurassic World: Dominion brought back Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill on the big screen together for the first time since the original Jurassic Park. While promoting Dominion, Goldblum shared that Dern recently reminded him why he might have been in that iconic shirtless position. As he said in that interview and previous ones, he apparently doesn’t remember. To refresh all our memories, here's the image, and there's a bit of blood on his hand and around his chest: 

Dern perhaps refreshed his memory, sharing that Ian Malcolm actually had an injury in his chest area, and his shirt was open and being tended to when that specific shot takes place. Dern is correct that there are people around him in other shots around that scene where they are treating an injury. But, of course, because of Goldblum’s magnetism, most of us don’t remember the circumstances of the shirtless scene. 

Jeff Goldblum also joked that he certainly didn’t ask Steven Spielberg if they could do a take where he showed “a little more” and some big shirtless scene wasn’t explicitly in the script. But, no matter, as it became a classic moment in Jurassic Park. Goldblum even recreated it in late 2020 to inspire others to vote in the Presidential election. Check it out: 

As far as Jurassic World Dominion goes, the movie disappointed critics overall, including CinemaBlend’s own Eric Eseinberg giving it 1.5 out of 5 stars in his review, but it generally pleased moviegoers, earning an A- with fans on CinemaScore. In its third weekend at the box office, it was in third place under Top Gun: Maverick and Elvis. The movie has made over $756 million worldwide. Jurassic World Dominion effectively wraps up the Jurassic World trilogy by bringing together the original and new cast, which included Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, but it’s proved tough to top the classic nature of the 1993 movie.

Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park movie changed the film world forever, partly thanks to the groundbreaking visual effects that debuted in the 1993 classic. The beloved movie starred Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern, who recently reunited for the new blockbuster Jurassic World: Dominion. And director Colin Trevorrow “never considered” killing off any of the franchise’s legacy characters for a very emotional reason.

Jurassic fans were delighted to see that the original heroes were going to be back on the big screen and facing dinosaur action in Jurassic World: Dominion. Colin Trevorrow assured fans early on that they’d have significant roles in the movie, which indeed turned out to be true. While some moviegoers were worried that Ian Malcolm, Ellie Sattler, or Alan Grant were going to be killed off, that was never in the cards for Trevorrow. He recently explained his approach while appearing on our very own ReelBlend podcast, saying:

Well, there you have it. While BD Wong’s Dr. Henry Wu might have been a villain in the last two Jurassic World movies, he was still safe from being killed off throughout the course of Dominion’s 146-minute runtime. As were the heroes played by the likes of Laura Dern, Jeff Goldlblum, and Sam Neill. In fact, the only original character to bite the dust in the movie was Lewis Dodgson. 

But exactly why did Colin Trevorrow make this decision for (most) of the Jurassic Park OG’s? Other franchises like Scream and Star Wars have promptly killed off legacy characters upon their return to the big screen. It turns it out it was a very emotional decision, as Trevorrow shared with the hosts of ReelBlend,

I’m not crying, you’re crying. While the Jurassic franchise is known for dealing with out of this world circumstances, it’s still made by people. And Colin Trevorrow thought that killing off the beloved original characters in Dominion would leave the audience with sobering thoughts about mortality and aging. Instead, Trevorrow let the original trio and BD Wong’s Dr. Wu survive the threequel with all of their limbs.

Jurassic World: Dominion ended the current story, so it’s unclear how long it’ll take the property to return to theaters. This is especially true since the reviews for Colin Trevorrow’s threequel have been less than positive.

What drives the popularity of the Jurassic Park franchise is obvious. The characters are cool, and there is strong thematic messaging about the arrogance of mankind, but the big draw will forever be the dinosaurs. The jaw-dropping wizardry in Steven Spielberg’s original film from 1993 brought the prehistoric creatures to life in a way that audiences had never seen before, and moviegoers have been chasing that extreme high in the sequels ever since.

In that sense (one of many), Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World Dominion is an extreme low point. Gone is the awe and wonder from the moment where Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) see a herd of brachiosauruses for the first time. In the sixth chapter of the series, dinosaurs are little more than living guns and window dressing.

This is a flabbergasting development when one considers that this franchise has gotten to the point where dinosaurs have become a part of ecosystems around the globe, and you wonder why the filmmakers couldn’t develop a story about that world-changing development. And while that’s bad, the actual execution is even worse. Orchestrating two bland, wholly disconnected plotlines, Jurassic World Dominion reduces all of its legacy characters into blank sheets of paper walking through plot developments, resulting in a slog of a film with only a light scattering of memorable moments in its bloated two-and-a-half hour runtime.

The first of these plotlines follows up the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and finds Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) having taken on the responsibility of being the guardians for Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon), the young girl who we learned was a clone in the previous film. Together they have made a home deep in the woods of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, trying to keep Maisie safe from those who would like to take and study her – but this plan fails as a group of poachers discover her location and kidnap her (oh, and they also take the baby of Owen’s “pet” velociraptor Blue, but that development is ultimately given so little attention it might as well not exist).

Simultaneously in another part of the country, Ellie Sattler begins an investigation into swarms of giant locusts that are devastating crops – but curiously not those on farms that are grown using seeds made by the pharmaceutical conglomerate Biosyn. Theorizing that the insects are genetically modified using extinct DNA from the Cretaceous era, she enlists the help of her old friend Alan Grant, and the two of them make plans to go see Ian Malcolm, who has taken a job at the massive corporation.

By complete and total coincidence, all of the principal characters end up heading to the same location at the same time, creating a hollow meet-up of stars from different generations of the franchise that fails in any way to capitalize on or develop the personalities of the characters.

Jurassic World: Dominion has little to no idea what to do with its impressive lineup of established characters.

Like Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World, Jurassic World Dominion features a constant stream of nods to fans and Easter eggs that suggest that there is a genuine love for this franchise behind the camera, but it’s bizarrely never demonstrated in the actual storytelling. The arc for Owen and Claire never gets more advanced than “they’re parents now, and they want their kidnapped daughter back,” and it all but ignores their past with dinosaurs – the exceptions being an opening sequence where Claire liberates some of these creatures from an illegal breeder, and moments where Owen tries to calm a threat by holding out his palm (which eventually just feels laughably goofy).

The worse sin, however, is treating the “legacy” characters like they’ve spent the last 20 odd years of their lives treading water. The only meaningful development highlighted in the lives of Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm is the revelation that Ellie has gotten divorced (her marriage previously revealed in Joe Johnston’s Jurassic Park III), and that’s clearly only included to clear the runway for a romantic pairing fans have been wanting to see develop for the last three decades (and the conclusion is just as hollow as the setup). It feels like the filmmakers were afraid that audiences wouldn’t recognize the three protagonists if they weren’t exactly how they were in Jurassic Park, and it’s hard not to feel shortchanged by their big reunion.

Without meaningful character development or interesting plotting, Jurassic World: Dominion is a two-and-a-half hour-long slog.

Because the distinct plots are so disparate and vague, Jurassic World Dominion feels like two poorly constructed movies in one, and it just bounces back and forth between them. The inclusion of various action set pieces motivates the direction of the film far more than any complex revelations or compelling twists (of which this blockbuster has exactly zero). The action figures just slowly move from scene to scene until the third act when all of the action figures can come together… and not really do much at all.

There are thrilling moments, including the introduction of the crazy locust swarm and a sequence where Claire has to hide in a bog from a hungry carnivore, but otherwise, all action and emotion is mutually exclusive. At one point in the first act, Ellie pets a baby triceratops and comments, “You never get used to it” – but Jurassic World Dominion sure does try its hardest to try and suck all of the awe and wonder out of the exercise with laser-guided dinosaurs and giant carnivore battles that continue to play out meaninglessly even after all of the human characters are long gone from the scene.

The blockbuster model for Jurassic World Dominion is very clearly Avengers: Endgame – a capstone project that is intended to reflect cohesiveness in the continuity – but it fails in so many ways where the Marvel film succeeds. Rather than constructing a story that effectively captures the full scope of the franchise and takes advantage of the principal characters’ beloved qualities, we instead get two high-concept ideas that are mashed together in a structure-less mess with bad pacing and boring action. The only silver lining is that it is all but guaranteed to be a massive hit, so perhaps one day we’ll actually get the movie about the global proliferation of dinosaurs that this feature was supposed to be.

Just two weeks ago, Chris Pratt and wife Katherine Schwarzenegger welcomed their second child together, Eloise Christina. Considering the happy couple had their new daughter just ahead of Jurassic World: Dominion finally hitting theaters, Pratt understandably couldn’t juggle being both a movie star and dad in the past few weeks. Even so, the actor found a way to bypass that -- and it involved photoshop.

Chris Pratt took to Instagram to share Jurassic World premiere photos featuring Dominion castmates Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, DeWanda Wise, Mamoudou Athie and writer/director Colin Trevorrow. Given that he couldn't be there, it makes sense that he would hilariously photoshop himself into the photos. Check them out: 

The star put together a fun set of photos featuring him in funny locations. In the first image, the actor is in the mouth of a T-Rex and, in the second one, he's on the top of a bus with the cast, with Goldblum seemingly looking straight back at him. In the third photo, he can be seen on the right holding a t-shirt that declares that he hearts raptors. The fourth one has the Owen Grady actor making a funny face behind Goldblum alongside fans. 

Ahead of the release of Dominion, the cast has traveled to Mexico, the United Kingdom and Germany for various premieres for the movie. As Chris Pratt shared on the social media platform, “daddy duty” kept him home. He joked that fan-favorite raptor Blue wouldn’t have been the best babysitter since it’s “kinda hard to change the diaper with those claws.” Yeah, makes sense. 

Of course, the Guardians of the Galaxy lead had the best reason to miss Jurassic World premieres. The actor wouldn’t want to miss Eloise’s first moments on the planet and leave his wife of nearly three years to fend for herself. The couple are also parents to Lyla Schwarzenegger Pratt, who was born in August 2020, making her nearly two years old now. (And both stars have done a commendable job of maintaining the little one's privacy.)

Even so, Chris Pratt was likely a bit bummed to miss the events, especially since the movie is said to be the “conclusion of the Jurassic era.” While Pratt doesn’t think Dominion will end the franchise forever, the flick, one of 2022's biggest upcoming movies does mark the end of the Jurassic World phase that started in 2015. 

Dominion follows the events of 2018’s Fallen Kingdom, where the dinosaurs are unleashed outside of Isla Nublar and throughout Earth. Chris Pratt’s Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire will be attempting to live in this new world where people must coexist with the prehistoric creatures. The two also become pseudo-parents to Isabella Sermon’s Maisie Lockwood. Amidst this, the original trio consisting of Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill and Laura Dern will reunite, and the franchise will introduce new characters played DeWanda Wise and Mamoudou Athie.

When the original Jurassic Park was released it became one of the biggest hits the world had ever seen. Decades later, when the franchise was relaunched with Jurassic World, it also became one of the biggest box office hits on record. With Jurassic World: Dominion the two trilogies will truly come together when the stars of the first film Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, all return together for the first time since that initial outing and join Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Fans are excited, and Jeff Goldblum is hyping up Dominion, saying the experience was “unbelievable.”

While both Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum made more than one Jurassic Park movie, the three stars of the original film have not returned together before now. Seeing the three of them together again is likely to be exciting for anybody who loved the original Jurassic Park, and that includes the cast themselves. Speaking with Comicbook.com, Jeff Goldblum likened seeing Neil and Laura Dern again to a high school reunion, though he admits he's never actually been to one. He says the first film changed all their lives, which made doing it all again something special. Goldblum explained… 

It’s been clear from all the pictures and video that the cast of Jurassic World: Dominion shared while making the movie that everybody, but specifically, Goldblum, Dern, and Neill, had an absolute blast being together again and making this movie. In the same way that some of the characters have appeared in this franchise again since the initial outing, but not together, I’m sure these actors have seen each other from time to time over the last couple of decades, but possibly not together, and certainly not working together like this. 

Fans of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies are likely hoping to have a similar experience as the actors when they sit down to watch Jurassic World: Dominion. Dominion saw delays due to COVID outbreaks like other films, which then forced a delay in release for the new Jurassic World movie. It seems like all delays are over now, however, and Jurassic World: Dominion will finally arrive in June. 

Jurassic Park, Steven Spielberg’s 1993 dinosaur tale, is littered with iconic moments. There’s the first meeting between John Hammond, Ellie Sattler, and Alan Grant, the initial appearance of the Tyrannosaurus rex and the showdown with the raptors in the kitchen. But amid the amazing action and impeccable quotes, there’s one element that truly stands out: Jeff Goldblum’s infamous shirtless scene. It’s essentially the stuff of legend at this point as, even today, fans can’t get enough of it. With Goldblum now doing press for Jurassic World: Dominion, the star has been discussing it, and his latest explanation for it is so on brand. 

Jeff Goldblum’s Dr. Ian Malcolm first appears with his shirt unbuttoned during the film’s second act. The actual scene sees him, now injured due to the T-Rex, conversing with John Hammond, Ellie Sattler, and others about how to undo the security snafu created by Dennis Nedry. Though the sequence is interesting on its own, many would argue that Malcolm’s exposed physique adds something to it. According to Goldblum, the moment just happened naturally:

I think it’s safe to say that moviegoers don’t really mind that the shirt became unbuttoned. In the past, the beloved actor has provided some funny responses to his major on-screen moment, even going as far as to apologize for it. However, what he went on to reveal to Vanity Fair about it is sure to have fans laughing even more:

Well, that’s one way to refer to it… I guess? I’m as to who came up with that particular name for it, especially since I can’t really see Steven Spielberg coming up with such an awkward (and oddly sensual) designation. Regardless of what you call it though, the shot is still the same, and it’s going to live with the history of cinema for decades to come. 

The scene has really worked its way into pop culture in some interesting ways. As a matter of fact, in 2018, a giant statue of Jeff Goldblum’s shirtless character was erected in London. The actor himself shared thoughts on the structure around that time and deemed it “lovely.” Goldblum even recreated the iconic shot last year, much to the delight of his social media followers. 

With Jeff Goldblum set to return in Jurassic World: Dominion, folks may be wondering if they can expect a callback of sorts. It would be fitting since the movie is set to serve as the culmination of the franchise up to this point. We’ll just have to wait and see if director Colin Trevorrow delivers such a thing. While this type of isolation likely created some challenges for the cast of Jurassic World: Dominion, it also seems to have bonded the actors who brought Colin Trevorrow’s threequel to life. Later in the same video, Sam Neill took the joke about a fight with Chris Pratt and Jeff Goldblum a step further. Not only is he maintaining that Jurassic World: Dominion will feature the male leads exchanging blows, Neill revealed the result of his fictional fight with those co-stars. He hilariously “shared”,

All jokes aside, it’s clear that Sam Neill is super psyched about returning to the big screen in Jurassic World: Dominion. Fans are eager to learn what his character Alan Grant has been up to since he was last seen in Jurassic Park III. Maisie Lockwood released the dinosaurs into the mainland in the final act, and now humans have been forced to live alongside the dangerous creatures they unnaturally resurrected. With chaos ruling, Ian Malcolm, Ellie Sattler, and Alan Grant are uniquely qualified to help the situation.

While information about the contents of Jurassic World: Dominion is limited, the above trailer teased that Colin Trevorrow’s threequel is going to be a wild ride. Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, and Laura Dern are heavily featured in the footage, with the latter actress even rocking Ellie Sattler’s signature original costume. Talk about iconic.

Ready for a big dino summer? Jurassic World Dominion looks like it's coming in hot this June, and the franchise is bringing back some old friends in the form of Jeff Goldblum’s Dr. Ian Malcolm, Sam Neill’s Dr. Alan Grant and Laura Dern’s Dr. Ellie Sattler. The trio are, of course, the first characters we adventured with in the original Jurassic Park. Now that the Dominion trailer debuted the three back into the mix, I want to talk about the moments I have on my wishlist for their return. 

As we already know, the original Jurassic Park trio will be “such big characters” in Jurassic World Dominion. Director Colin Trevorrow told us this last summer, and the trailer seriously suggested this as well. Now that I anticipate a sizable reunion with dinosaurs running rampant around the world, here’s what I want to see: 

A Quippy, Yet Emotional Reunion Between The Trio

Jurassic World bringing back its original characters comes following a lot of other franchises doing so. Star Wars and Spider-Man are great examples (in my opinion) of fan service colliding with great storytelling, and I hope Dominion does so when it brings back Malcolm, Grant and Sattler. We’ll always remember the moment when Han Solo and Chewbacca wandered in the Millennium Falcon, or when Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire wandered in those portals in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Both moments go to show that movies have the ability to catch us off guard and truly awe us with these reunions (even when we know they’re going to happen). 

From the Dominion trailer, it looks like Malcolm, Grant and Sattler catch wind of the world’s big dino problem and get in contact with one another before coming together with Chris Pratt's Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire to save our collective skins. Here's hoping that the moment when all three of the OG actors come together again is written in a way that has catching butterflies and chills down our spines all at once. 

The Trio Reminiscing On Their Jurassic Park Misadventures With New Cast

In addition to Dominion needing to have a solid reunion moment, I’d also like to see a few clever callbacks to the first time these three were together in Jurassic Park. Obviously this one is going to happen somehow in some way, but hopefully it happens in a way that ties in seamlessly with how they’ll work together with the new cast in the Jurassic World movie. I’d love to see one of the trio pulling one of the moves they did in the original movie on these dinos as they take over the world. 

Jurassic World Dominion is set to be the last movie in the main Jurassic franchise, so having a full circle moment where one or all the first Jurassic Park actors does something key to saving the planet would really warm my heart. This is especially since 1993’s Jurassic Park is not only a classic, but for many people, one of their favorite movies of all time. 

Dr. Alan Grant Back In On The Dino Action 

Look, I know Chris Pratt is the big action star on the block in the Jurassic World movies, but I will need more from Sam Neill’s Dr. Alan Grant than what we saw in the trailer. There’s an interesting moment in the first look where both Alan and Owen both say “Don’t move” at the same time, and while it’s funny, I’m also hoping we get a legitimate arc from Grant in Dominion. 

Jumping off the previous point, I don’t want the original cast to simply play the role of “jurassic consultants.” I want them to be a major part in the action, and since Grant was specifically was the first hero of the Jurassic movies, he deserves a big role in this Jurassic World installment. 

Dr. Ian Malcolm Reclaiming His Sex Symbol Status

Like many, I was disappointed to see the minor and rather boring role Jeff Goldblum was given in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Thankfully, the character will return in Dominion, and the actor better go full Goldblum with the same kind of sex appeal his younger self offered us up in 1993 when flashed his pecks our way. In late 2020 (while filming), the actor recreated the infamous scene to entice his fans to vote during the presidential election, but it has yet to be seen what Dr. Ian Malcolm is like these days. 

Jeff Goldblum remains a sex symbol in our hearts, but Jurassic World Dominion is the perfect place for the actor to reclaim his status on film with what’s to come with his character. Hopefully Malcolm truly goes for it as a silver fox because it’s a major part of the charm in 1993’s Jurassic Park. 

Alan And Ellie Falling Back In Love Obviously

Finally, it’s time to see Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler back again as an item! In the first movie, their chemistry is incredibly palpable, but in Jurassic Park III, it seemed their love grew apart as Ellie started a relationship with Mark Degler, with the two of them eventually marrying and having two kids. Still, Alan and Ellie remained close friends as she started a family. 

In the Dominion trailer, Grant specifically calls his former colleague as “Dr. Ellie Sattler,” perhaps signaling that Ellie is no longer with Mark and perhaps single just in time to fight off some dinos with an old flame. Even in the short few moments from the trailer we caught glimpses of, all I could think about is how perfect they are together and how they need to be back together immediately. Wouldn’t it be the perfect ending to see Alan and Ellie riding off into the sunset? It absolutely needs to happen or I will riot at dawn!

All that being said, I do believe we’re in good hands with Colin Trevorrow as he wraps up his Jurassic World film series with Dominion on June 10. The upcoming 2022 movie surely has a lot up its sleeves. How Do Jurassic World Dominion’s Dinosaurs Reproduce?

Right out of the gate, we need a lesson in the dino birds and bees in this brave new world. Showing the public a brand new baby raptor tagging along with proud mama Blue is absolutely aww-inducing, and it gives our dino protagonist a new facet to explore. But without another raptor in the wild (that we know of), gender-flipping DNA goes only so far in explaining how this new baby exists. 

What Happened To Ellie's Family From Jurassic Park III?

While we’re on the subject of family, it was fantastic to see Laura Dern’s Dr. Ellie Sattler and Sam Neill’s Dr. Alan Grant reunited, presumably in the Montana dig site we first met them at in Jurassic Park. But only raises another huge question, and it’s something that the Jurassic World movies have kind of skirted around: sequel continuity. In terms of Jurassic Park III, we have to ask what happened to Ellie’s family, and why they aren’t shown in this trailer? 

Why Are There Jacked Up Raptors (And More) In Europe?

At the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, we did see some dinosaurs being auctioned off the highest bidders. Some of those parties had their goodies shipped throughout the world, so seeing dinosaurs loose in Europe is not terribly surprising. Where the situation starts to get hazy is where those new jacked-up raptors we’ve seen chasing Chris Pratt came from. Could this tie back to wild dino breeding, or are we finally seeing “open source” dinosaurs roaming free?

Is That A New Hybrid That’s Worrying Dr. Wu?

BD Wong’s Dr. Henry Wu returns in Jurassic World Dominion looking like a genius who’s either in captivity or exile after the events of previous two films. Whichever scenario is applicable, the trailer frames him as being worried about a DNA sequence that we’re briefly shown on screen, which seems to hint at another hybrid. Granted, it's possible these could be two unrelated scenes, and we were previously told that Jurassic World 3 would have no hybrids. Still, those rules may have been changed or broken somewhere along the line. This is a franchise that loves to wave smiling as it ignores laws of nature and genetics, after all. 

Is That A Secret Base Or A New Jurassic Theme Park?

Humanity does not learn in the world of the Jurassic saga, as we’ve seen with many theme parks and dinosaur projects recurring over almost thirty years of history. So this shadowy new spot of high tech appearance that Dr. Grant is flying off to looks like it could double as either a secret base for the as-of-yet unseen Lewis Dodgson, or it could be a new theme park just waiting to go online. Again, this could go either one of two ways, and we’d like to know whether to book tickets or practice invasion tactics to get in.

Did We See The Entire Jurassic World Dominion Gang On Isla Sorna?

Chris Pratt once teased Jurassic World Dominion as the Avengers: Endgame of the franchise, and the shot of the classic and modern casts together matches up to that description rather beautifully. Could there be a chance that this big team up is headed to The Lost World: Jurassic Park’s Isla Sorna? This setting looks vaguely similar to the worker's village in the first Jurassic sequel, and we already know there's going to be some globe-trotting in this new caper. If so, it would make total sense, as that was where the dinosaurs were bred and raised for the parks, and all the infrastructure was there for the taking in Jurassic Park III. 

Are Owen And Claire Trying To Hide Blue Or Maisie?

In the aftermath of the previous Jurassic World film, Owen and Claire promised that they would look after Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon) no matter what. That responsibility is pretty taxing, considering she’s the only living human cloning experiment that exists on the Earth in this world. So when Owen starts talking about how “we have to protect her, that’s our job,” he could be referring to that particular oath; or he could be talking about Blue and her baby. Those scenarios are equally valid, but whichever one happens to be discussed at that moment seems key to what we see happen in this next adventure.  

Could Owen Grady Die In Jurassic World Dominion?

Claire Dearing and Owen Grady’s relationship has been blooming throughout this trilogy. So as the finality this chapter seems to be sold with feels like an indicator that all bets are off when it comes to character safety, it feels like the stage is set for a major death. Those fears didn’t get any easier to deal with when Chris Pratt’s character states “I always come back” when told by Bryce Dallas Howard to do just that. 

Killing off a major Jurassic Park character, or even Roberta the Tyrannosaurus from the original trilogy, feels a bit too much. But killing Owen might be the middle ground that shows that Jurassic World Dominion has serious stakes at risk in this final chapter. Could Owen have just signed his own death warrant, horror movie-style? 

All of these burning questions and more will be answered this summer in Jurassic World Dominion. Opening exclusively in theaters on June 10th, dinosaurs will rule the Earth once more, and it looks like quite the adventure is on the way. We’ve known for a while that Jurassic World: Dominion has been on its way, and director Colin Trevorrow’s franchise uniting sequel is getting closer each day. But this very moment you’re experiencing now is a pretty huge one, as the first trailer for the sixth film in the Jurassic saga has given us all what we’ve been waiting for. Now that we've seen our first look at Laura Dern and Sam Neill’s return to the franchise (as well as the return of Jeff Goldblum), it's time for some dino sized feelings. 

In the world that’s been shaped since Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s massive finale, dinosaurs are both natural beauties and serious problems. We see as much in this big glimpse given by Universal, which is almost assuredly going to play a part during this week's Super Bowl ad blitz. It’s gotten to the point where even Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) has deemed John Hammond’s legacy an ecological disaster. Though from what we’ve seen hinted at in this trailer, natural dinosaur breeding is only the beginning, as it looks like another hybrid might be in play.

This is an adventure that evokes echoes of the past, while casting a terrifying shadow for the future. It all culminates in Dr. Ian Malcolm asking the right question at the right time: “Why do they always have to go bigger?” Cue the shot of our legacy characters together again, and looking rather concerned. 

“Bigger” is a word that definitely comes to mind with the scope of this latest dinosaur excursion. A lot of the stuff that was mentioned in last year’s CinemaCon reel seems to be on display here, with everything from a European dino chase to the return of the mighty Dilophosaurus in the mix. Also, the expanded cast roster is shown off to great effect, mixing classic and recent heroes together, as well as newcomers like a new character played by DeWanda Wise. 

Though Jurassic World: Dominion is indeed going bigger with scope in action, that also looks like it applies to the heart of the film as well. Protecting those you love, as well as leaving a legacy of spectacle and conservation behind, have always been Jurassic threads. Using voiceover from Sir Richard Attenborough’s John Hammond to hammer home that second factor is a quick shortcut to the hearts of franchise fans. With legacy villain Lewis Dodgson returning to threaten this vision all over again, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

While the term legacy-quel is thrown about quite often, we may have just seen the best definition of that word realized in this trailer. Though this movie is promising “the conclusion to the Jurassic era,” there’s still plans to keep the franchise going. Life always finds a way with this universe, and this massive next step looks to hold the keys to the future. 

Jurassic World: Dominion roams the earth, exclusively in theaters, on June 10th. That’s just one of the many upcoming movies to make this summer a gigantic event to look forward to. When it comes to mimicry, Jeff Goldblum’s aura left room for the actor to be imitated by everyone from fellow stars to avid fans. His mannerisms, speech pattern and eccentric ways have made the Jurassic World Dominion star an endearing cultural figure. Multiple shows and interviews have given space for some quality Goldblum impressions over the years. With that in mind, it was finally time for the Independence Day star to see who mimicked him best. The Hollywood star got to see Bryan Cranston and Thor co-star Tom Hiddleston’s impressions of him, and his feedback was on point.

Of course, the most notable impression was Saturday Night Live’s “Celebrity Jeopardy” skit featuring David Duchovny doing his best Jeff Goldblum, but here have been plenty of Goldblum impressions since the iconic sketch. That said, no one’s ever asked Golblum what he thought about all this one and other imitations. Thankfully, Vanity Fair allowed him to do so. Goldblum got to see his Asteroid City co-star Bryan Cranston do his best impression. The Oscar nominee was taken aback by Cranston, as he remarked:

Jeff Goldblum was understandably surprised, as he didn’t know the Breaking Bad star was so observant. As with any Goldblum interview, he couldn’t help but notice a certain aspect of Bryan Cranston’s impersonation – his saucer-like eyes. The Hotel Artemis star spoke on trying to downplay his signature eye expression.

I believe that just like many Goldblum mannerisms, his eyes are part of the actor’s overall appeal. They’ve allowed him to be expressive in countless scenes throughout his career. You can always look for a good “Jeff Goldblum staring off in wonderment” moment. After seeing Cranston’s take, the Jurassic Park star got the chance to see his Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tom Hiddleston do his impression with a twist. Here's what Goldblum had to say about this one:

Tom Hiddleston took the cake for me, as he did his impersonation right in front of Goldblum. In my opinion, the Hiddleston/Goldblum instance took some confidence. Having worked with Jeff Goldblum on the third Thor film, the Loki star studied and observed his esteemed co-star. It could’ve gone completely sideways had Goldblum not been tickled by it. Luckily, he's been aware that his mannerisms and uniqueness make him a great person to imitate.

Jeff Goldblum is sure to be the source of new imitationsm as he has multiple projects coming up, including Jurassic World Dominion. Jeff Goldblum will pop up in the Fallen Kingdom sequel on June 10, as well as the Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8, with both playing in theaters.
