Legally Blonde is one of those great movies from the 2000s that’s brimming with one-liners we still repeat to this day. In honor of its 25th anniversary, one of the movie’s writers shared an amusing anecdote I’ve always been curious about. How did the amazing “bend and snap” scene come to be?

Kirsten Smith has previously called the invention of the bend and snap a “spontaneous invention” that was the result of “a completely drunken moment in a bar”. But there’s much more to it. In her words:

In the new interview, Smith said she loved writing Legally Blonde’s many iconic moments, but many of them actually came about later in the process. She and her co-writer Karen McCullah Lutz knew they wanted to give Jennifer Coolidge’s Paulette more to do, but it took some thinking. As she added to Gold Derby:

While I certainly would have thought the bend and snap was in the DNA of Legally Blonde from the beginning, that wasn’t the case. The scene came out of the rewrite stage via some notes from producer Marc Platt.

Legally Blonde would have certainly been a bit of a different movie if there was a crime at the salon instead. But it just wouldn’t have been the same without the plotline revolving around Paulette’s crush on the UPS guy. The screenwriters ultimately felt a sprinkle of romance in the B-plot would be better served than a crime due to their personal strengths as writers. I think they made the right choice.

Smith also recalled the famed scene being a “much longer sequence” and originally feeling like “the movie fully stopped” for a musical number. But after it went through the editing room, the co-writer felt like the Legally Blonde scene “became the perfect length.”

The series is currently No. 1 on the Prime Video charts after dropping on the streaming service a couple of weeks ago. Elle is about a high-school-aged Elle Woods as her family moves from Los Angeles to Seattle, uprooting her social life completely. Looking back on the career of Jennifer Coolidge, she has had a hell of a run in Hollywood. A constant presence in film and television since the mid-1990s, she was once best known for playing Stifler’s Mom in the American Pie movies, but she experienced a renaissance in the last few years thanks to her role on The White Lotus – which ultimately earned her an Emmy. She is beloved by audiences everywhere… and what makes it all particularly funny is that all of her success can arguably be linked back to a few lies.

Audiences know Coolidge from a wide number of roles, but her on screen career began with a single-episode part on Seinfeld back in 1993 – and she admits that she told a few harmless fibs that led her to getting the part. For an oral history feature by GQ chronicling the many, many girlfriends Jerry Seinfeld had on the classic 1990s sitcom, Coolidge revealed that she severely padded her resume to get the role of Jodi on the show, which was her very first television gig. She recalled,

(If you’re curious: She TV did not exactly end up having the same legacy as Seinfeld, as the woman-fronted sketch show only lasted one season and six episodes).

For those who possibly don’t remember Coolidge’s time as one of Jerry’s girlfriends, she played the titular role in the Season 5 episode “The Masseuse.” Named Jodi, she starts dating the show’s main character but frustrates him to the extreme because she is unwilling to give him a professional rub down. She ends up expressing a deep disdain for George whenever he hangs out with Jerry, causing him to unwittingly fall in love with her, but she is best known for delivering the line, “I don't submit to forcible massage,” after Jerry tries to trick her into working on him.

The 1993 Seinfeld episode allowed Jennifer Coolidge to erase one lie off of her resume, and while her other earliest work isn’t nearly as memorable (movies like Plump Fiction and a short-lived SNL competitor called Saturday Night Special), she eventually started to land more significant roles in more significant productions. Fast forward 30-plus years, and she is now a beloved Hollywood figure.

You know what time period I love in film history? The early 2000s. And, it's mostly because I think a lot of the movies were completely unhinged. One of my favorite unhinged movies is the 2006 American Idol satire film, American Dreamz, starring Mandy Moore, Hugh Grant, and a bunch of other noteworthy actors.

I’ve already discussed my love for the Crank series, and it must be remembered that the early 2000s was also the reign of Uwe Boll (who once beat up his critics. I'm dead serious).

What's interesting about American Dreamz, though, is that upon its release, it took a critical drubbing, which you likely wouldn't expect from a movie that also stars the likes of Willem Dafoe, Dennis Quaid, and Marcia Gay Harden. So, why do I love it then? Well, you're about to find out.

This Movie Came Out During The Bush Years And It Feels It

Do you know what I like to call the early 2000s? The 24 years. Not only is it one of my favorite TV shows of all time, but I think it also perfectly encapsulates that post 9/11 time period, where it seemed like everybody was focused on “the War on Terror.” In this era, terrorists were the bad guys. And, while most movies and TV shows took this seriously, there were a few that lampooned the current events (Like Team America: World Police).

Going back to Uwe Boll, in 2007, we got a video game movie from him that you might not have even heard of called Postal, and it actually begins with a 9/11 joke. Obviously, the movie is in poor taste, but it's one of the few films that dared to poke fun at something that was relatively recent, and American Dreamz pokes fun, too, though a lot more effectively.

In a nutshell, the film is about a talent show called American Dreamz, which is a parody of American Idol. Hugh Grant plays the host, Martin “Tweedy” Tweed, and even though he isn’t as prickly as Simon Cowell, you know that that’s who he’s taking inspiration from. American Idol is still around, of course, but I think it was at its peak in the early 2000s, and this film perfectly captures that mania.

That said, this film ALSO tackles the terrorism side of the early 2000s, which might be why people weren’t in love with this film at the time, since it’s like two different movies. However, that’s why I love it! But first, let me talk about the reality TV/talent show component.

This Movie Both Loves And Hates Reality TV In Equal Amounts

Reality TV has been around at least since the late 1940s when Candid Camera jumped from radio to TV, but it came back into major prominence in the ‘90s with The Real World, and then exploded in 2000 with Survivor. Since then, the whole concept of “reality” television has kind of been shown to be a farce. The actual “reality” side is often staged, and even though it’s often cheaper than producing scripted television, that doesn’t mean that reality TV isn’t also somewhat scripted, and this movie delves into that.

Mandy Moore plays a wannabe superstar, and she sees being on American Dreamz as her chance at stardom. When a film crew comes to her house to let her know that she’s been selected, she runs outside screaming and yelling, but is then told to do it over again since they weren’t filming at the time, to which she obliges, going even more over the top. This is obviously a dig at the whole nature of “reality” television, and the movie takes several more digs at it.

That said, you also kind of get a sense that the director/screenwriter, Paul Weitz, actually appreciates the whole ersatz nature of the medium. Even though people are getting absorbed by the stories of the contestants, you also kind of feel like Weitz finds something charming in a nation glued to their screens and united in something as silly as a talent show.

In fact, it’s the talent show that brings both Americans and jihadists (Yes, you heard that right) together in the end, which I’ll get into next.

A Key Plot Point In This Comedy Involves Sleeper Cells. I'm Serious

Okay, so while you have the whole reality TV/talent show aspect of the film, you also have the political side, as Dennis Quaid plays the President of the United States. Quaid is obviously a stand-in for Dubya, and he really plays up the caricature. Anyway, America is at war with the Middle East, and a character named Omer (Sam Golzari) loses his mother to an American attack.

Serious stuff, right? Well, yes, but not in this movie. Because Omer just so happens to love show tunes, so even though he joined a jihadist outfit that wants to scream death to America, he’s also too clumsy and awkward to be a proper terrorist. However, with the outreach for new talent for American Dreamz, the jihadists see their chance to blow up a lot of people during a taping of the show. And, with the President now being enlisted as a new judge, what better time than now to strap a bomb onto Omer?

Didn’t I tell you this movie was unhinged? But it goes further. Because Chris Klein (who once starred in the worst movie I’ve ever seen in my entire life) plays the boyfriend of one of the contestants, and even though he gets dumped, their relationship plays into the narrative that American Dreamz is trying to push.

That said, once he gets jilted again, he straps on a bomb, ending this movie on a kaboom. I’m telling you. This movie is crazy!

Luckily, The Cast Is All Game For The Lunacy

Even though the film didn’t do well at the box office, and it wasn’t a hit with critics, it sure does have a pretty stacked cast.

As mentioned in the intro, some of the big names that star in this film are Dennis Quaid, Willem Dafoe as the Chief of Staff, Mandy Moore as the singer, Sally Kendoo, Jennifer Coolidge (who played Stiffler’s mom in Weitz’s American Pie and now plays Mandy Moore’s mom in this film) Chris Klein as Kendoo’s boyfriend, Marcia Gay Harden as the First Lady, and Hugh Grant as the host.

And the thing is, they’re all game for the film. This is a really goofy movie, and all of the actors are just as goofy. I think Dafoe might be one of my favorites, as he’s constantly trying to clean up the president’s messes. He plays an understated, yet very larger-than-life performance.

In fact, this movie kind of makes me think of another satirical film I love, Don’t Look Up, in that it shows people with all the power in the world being utterly inept at their jobs. Nobody comes out of this film looking like a brainiac, and it’s all the better for it.

So, in the end, American Dreamz is honestly a hidden gem from the early 2000s. And, even though it’s pretty dated by today’s standards, it’s still a pretty funny time capsule if you remember this era.

After bringing a bunch of famous faces into the fold as guest stars for its first season, Shifting Gears’ showrunner Michelle Nader sees no reason to cut back on the classic TV tradition going into Season 2. We already know Tim Allen will reunite with some Home Improvement vets, with Lilly Singh set to befriend and bewitch RIley, and Nader has teased more throwback easter eggs on the way paying tribute to Allen and others’ careers. And yes, she definitely has other ideas in mind.

Speaking to US Weekly, the series head honcho excitedly confirmed that other mystery celebrities are being tapped to show up later in the season, and that she also has her own sidelist of ideal guest stars to send invites to, with one being a pretty prominent Emmy-winning veteran of HBO’s The White Lotus. In Nader’s words:

Let's first speak to the most specific detail that was shared. It would be an absolute hoot to get Jennifer Coolidge into the Shifting Gears mix. As far as I can remember, she hasn't directly co-starred opposite Tim Allen in anything, but she certainly did spend years on the small screen opposite Kat Dennings as 2 Broke Girls' Sophie Kaczynsky, who moved into the apartment above Max and Caroline in the middle of Season 1. Givne that Michelle Nader was a writer-turned-showrunner for 2 Broke Girls, this seems like it should be an easy get, assuming Coolidge is down.

While their past sitcom work makes the most sense to connect Collidge to Shifting Gears, US Weekly frames the guest star comments as if Nader was asked about White Lotus stars making guest spots on the ABC comedy. I'm not sure if that's actually the case or not, but there are definitely a slew of interesting A-listers to choose from if that show's lineup is up for contention.

How wild would it be if Nader & Co. landed Jon Gries to appear in the same episode as Coolidge? Gries portrayed the latter's seemingly devious husband in the HBO series.) Or if Natasha Rothwell, who played White Lotus' Brenda, would sign on. I realize that there's no guarantee that any other guest stars would for sure co-star in the same episode as Coolidge, but I see no reason to dream small here.

Beyond any White Lotus alums, I'm hoping that some of the celebs that Michelle Nader referred to were other comedy greats that she's worked with in her past. For instance, I'd love to see Jenna Elfman's Dharma & Greg counterpart Thomas Gibson show up to raise trouble for Matt and Eve.

Or, since she also worked on the excellent Spin City during its run, bringing in Richard Kind, Alan Ruck, or Connie Britton would be genius. (Not that others would be unwelcome.) Given that Nader wrote a pair of episodes for one of the best new comedies to hit the 2025 TV schedule, Deli Boys, I'd love to also see Saagar Shaikh or Asif Ali show up in one way or another.

Warning: SPOILERS for A Minecraft Movie are ahead!

This past weekend, I fired up A Minecraft Movie with my HBO Max subscription after missing its rowdy theatrical run. To be fair, I am not this movie’s target audience, both because of my age and barely knowing anything about the video game franchise. But after hearing about how bonkers A Minecraft Movie is and getting tastes of this from the trailers, I finally had to judge it for myself. Imagine my surprise to learn that the most unhinged stuff in this 2025 movie release doesn’t revolve around Jack Black and Jason Momoa, but rather Jennifer Coolidge’s subplot.

Let me be clear, Black’s Steve (singer of the record-breaking “Lava Chicken”) and Momoa’s Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison are not lacking in wild moments in A Minecraft Movie, and they’re unquestionably its main draw. But as I was watching this video game movie that’s made nearly $1 billion worldwide, I remained astounded at what was happening with Jennifer Coolidge’s Marlene, the vice principal at the school Sebastian Hansen’s Henry attends. This starts even before she gets exposed to anything Minecraft-y, from her awkwardly talking about her recently-ended marriage to Henry, to her uncomfortable flirting with Garrett.

And then Marlene met Nitwit, one of the Overworld villagers who accidentally wandered into our world when the portal created by the combined Orb of Dominance and Earth Crystal was left open. Marlene accidentally hits Nitwit with her Jeep Grand Cherokee and is unfazed by his giant head, rectangular nose and inability to say coherent words. Instead, she takes him to dinner and it doesn’t take long for sparks to fly between them.

Between Marlene finding Nitwit to have more personality than her ex Clemente, and Nitwit suggestively raising his unibrow every so often, I was entertainingly shocked at this budding romance. The night ends with Marlene inviting Nitwit back to her place for dessert (God, I hope it’s actual dessert), and I laughed way too much when the waiter asked if they were finished, and the vice principal responded:

And then the cherry on top of this wacky sundae comes as A Minecraft Movie’s credits are rolling. Nitwit is seen hanging out in Marlene’s office at the school, looking WASP-y as hell and shockingly speaking with the voice of What We Do in the Shadows’ Matt Berry when Clemente confronts him, and Marlene can also speak Villager now. With their love cemented, Nitwit proposed to Marlene, and she instantly accepted. Oh, and before all this happened, she was about to feed him a baguette. I’m just… so unsettled by it all.

I realize A Minecraft Movie is chiefly aimed at the video game’s fans, particularly the younger ones who’ve played it for thousands of hours. So the humor was always going to be unhinged to some degree, especially with Napoleon Dynamite’s Jared Hess directing. But at least with Jack Black and Jason Momoa’s shenanigans, I had somewhat of an idea of what to expect, given the footage I’d seen in the trailers. I had absolutely no idea how Jennifer Coolidge fit into A Minecraft Movie ahead of viewing it, so I was completely taken aback by her bizarre romance with one of Overworld’s unusual-looking denizens. I won’t go so far as to say those two haunt my dreams, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that started happening.

Another Minecraft Movie is in development, and I’m sure I’ll end up watching it at home just like I did this one. But rather than wondering about what’s next for Steve and Garrett, I instead find myself trying to envision what a marriage between Marlene and Nitwit would look like, and how their child… nope, stopping right there.

Creativity abounds on the 2025 movie schedule, especially in a world where you can create anything. A Minecraft Movie promises to send audiences somewhere they’ve only dreamed of going, with Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks and other fun, surprising comedy stars coming along for the ride.

When it comes to the surprising comedy stars, there’s a pretty big talent who appears in a vocal cameo in the picture’s mid-credits scene. And if director Jared Hess has anything to say about it, that’d be fuel for a separate movie continuing this cinematic universe. Which, critical reactions to Minecraft aside, could be an intriguing play.

Matt Berry’s Short But Sweet Cameo In A Minecraft Movie Impressed Its Director

Early on in A Minecraft Movie we see Jennifer Coolidge’s Vice Principal Marlene hit a Villager known as Nitwit with her car, which turns into an unexpected love connection. And in a final romantic twist, Nitwit proposes to Marlene, after giving her ex-husband, Clemente (Hiram Garcia) a very gentlemanly talking to. It's also revealed that the impact of Marlene’s car has now given him the dulcet tones of one Matt Berry to speak with.

During our Minecraft interview with Hess and Torfi Frans Ólafsson, the Senior Creative Director of Original Content & Entertainment at Minecraft, CinemaBlend’s own Jeff McCobb asked how this cameo involving the What We Do in the Shadows star came to be. This led the Napoleon Dynamite creative to discuss his delightful experience and what it could mean for the future:

Now, that's an idea I can get behind.

However, Torfi Frans Ólafsson did bring up a valid point about this potential spinoff's rating, saying:

Between the comedy skills of Jennifer Coolidge and Matt Berry, this Minecraft spinoff could become a very R-rated affair on dialogue alone. But even if it was slightly toned down, this project would never make it onto the upcoming kids movies schedule - simply because the younglings would probably think it was gross.

However, it’s the other supporting role that Jared Hess mentioned in his glowing recollection that I think would really have this project crafting with diamonds.

Jared Hess Also Highlighted Jemaine Clement’s Role, Which Could Make This Spinoff Even Better

Continuing to share the love for his collaborators, Jared Hess naturally had to give a shoutout to Jemaine Clement.

A fellow vet of What We Do in the Shadows lore, Clement was also one of the leads in a previous Hess picture, Gentlemen Broncos - a film that more than a few people have mentioned after seeing A Minecraft Movie’s trailer. Here’s what that adoration sounded like in the moment:

If Jared Hess is really looking to branch out his Minecraft world with a romantic comedy, a proper adversary is needed. While Berry would be the natural fit, having Mr. Clement’s storage unit wrangler trying to horn in on the action is the sort of ingredient that’d really spice things up.

Jason Momoa’s Garrett proved that much like in the real world, Jennifer Coolidge is a much adored woman. So it wouldn’t be that crazy to see this love triangle play out in A Minecraft Movie: Lovers of the Year Edition. Though Nitwit isn't exactly a slouch either, as who could say no to a face like this?

Of course, if you haven’t seen A Minecraft Movie for yourself just yet, you should probably correct that. Don’t worry. I haven’t spoiled anything plot-heavy here, so you can enjoy that picture at a theater near you in peace. Just don’t go into things expecting Matt Berry’s rich and oaken voice dressing down every man jack throughout. Otherwise, you’ll be sorely disappointed, no matter how much your kids love Minecraft.

As fans know, things did not end well for Jennifer Coolidge's Tanya McQuoid in The White Lotus Season 2. In the final episode, she became fully aware of a plot orchestrated by her husband, Jon Gries' Greg Hunt, to kill her, but her efforts to foil the villainous plan resulted in her dying anyway. So will we eventually see justice for Tanya? Coolidge is apparently in the dark as much as anyone, but she regards show creator Mike White as a genius, and she seems confident that he'll figure things out.

Deadline recently asked the award-winning actress if she had any insight regarding what would happen with Tanya's post-mortem storyline in The White Lotus Season 3. Coolidge explained that she is not personally privy to the plans for Greg on the show, but she called him a "creep" who deserves punishment. She explained,

In The White Lotus Season 3, Greg is back, but he is now going by "Gary," and he is living in a house in Thailand with a new girlfriend (Charlotte Le Bon). He is clearly trying to evade any questions about Tanya McQuoid's mysterious death... but he didn't expect to be recognized by Natasha Rothwell's Belinda, and she might provide the justice that fans are looking for (assuming she is able to survive the season).

With two episodes left in the on-going run, it feels impossible to accurately guess what is going to happen, and Jennifer Coolidge is on the ride right along with all of us, and she has nothing but admiration for the "genus" of Mike White:

As evidenced by his whole body of work (which also includes the movie School of Rock and the series Enlightened with Laura Dern), Mike White is a gifted storyteller and filmmaker, but in Jennifer Coolidge's opinion, his "genius" is not defined that simply. Instead, what has really amazed her is his ability to get his hooks into audiences and make them passionate and excited for what is around the corner. Said Coolidge

How will it all end, and will Greg end up meeting some kind of consequence for his felonious actions? The answers to these questions and more are all coming very soon. The penultimate episode of The White Lotus Season 3, titled "Killer Instincts," will be airing on HBO this Sunday, March 30, and it will be followed by the finale, "Amor Fati," seven days later on April 6. The White Lotus is heating up amid the 2025 TV schedule! The show aired its fifth episode of Season 3 last week, which offered shocking surprises and crazy plot twists involving the central vacationers in Thailand. It’s been an exciting season, and fans have been loving the twisted Ratliff family, and the toxic three girlfriends who have a “too-real” friendship dynamic. While the new characters have been riveting, Jennifer Coolidge's Tanya, who was a fixture on the first two seasons of the buzzy drama, is still missed. Now, cast member Parker Posey thinks she knows a way to bring the character back.

For context, at the end of The White Lotus Season 2, Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya character dies when she falls over a boat railing and hits her head. Plenty of viewers didn't see that ending coming, and it made for great TV. Still, the show has been without Tanya’s eccentric and larger than life personality as a result of her demise. Parker Posey, who plays Victoria Ratliff on the latest season, has been thinking of a way to revive the character. And her suggestion, which she explained to Now, links to a real-life author's experiences:

First of all, I’m loving the idea of White Lotus in the Swiss Alps. A lot of tropical locations have been featured on the show, but a snowier locale has yet to be highlighted. Also, there's been a lot of speculation surrounding a ski resort season already, with a Norwegian newspaper reporting that series creator Mike White and the rest of his producing team applied for a grant to film in Norway. However, the show has been shooting at Four Seasons Resorts, and the hotel chain does not have a ski resort in Norway or The Swiss Alps.

However, if they do go ahead with this pitch, there is a lot that can be done with the idea of altitude sickness and hallucinations that occur, as Parker Posey suggested. This could totally be a great way to bring Tanya back, at least in some capacity. Posey continued:

Parker Posey isn’t the only one dreaming about how to bring back Jennifer Coolidge, as Mike White himself has apparently been contemplating the possibility. He previously discussed a potential spin-off involving Coolidge’s character that would predate the events of The White Lotus. Tanya is such a fascinating figure, and I’d totally be in to see an entire show just focused on her. Finding a way to reintegrate her into the franchise in some way is clearly being pondered, and I’d love to see her back in action, whether by Posey's method or by an idea from White's noggin.

Let's hope the creative team finds a way to bring back Jennifer Coolidge's Tanya. In the meantime, keep your focus on Parker Posey and the rest of the White Lotus Season 3 cast, as new episodes hit HBO on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET. You can also stream the show on Max.

Ever since we heard that Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda would be the common thread in The White Lotus Season 3, we’ve been anticipating how the spa manager’s storyline might develop in Thailand. But when CinemaBlend got the chance to chat to the actress about being part of the series continuing on the 2025 TV schedule, of course we had to ask about the mark that Jennifer Coolidge left on her.

As fans who are caught up on the series (streaming for those with a Max subscription) know, Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya McQuoid died tragically at the end of Season 2 while being pursued by a murder of fabulous gays. So, while Natasha Rothwell didn’t have the pleasure of teaming up with Coolidge again, she did have a pretty great reaction to getting to call herself friends with the actress. In her words:

Of course Rothwell is referring to the American Pie movies where Coolidge played Jeanine, the mom of Seann William Scott’s Stifler, in the comedy movie series’ first four films. That’s the wild thing about being an actor who gets to work with actors you watched growing up.

But perhaps the best part about talking to Natasha Rothwell was what she said next when I asked if she learned anything specific from Coolidge. Here’s what she said:

Could this answer be more on brand for Jennifer Coolidge’s persona? It’s just too on brand that Natasha Rothwell got to get some conversation in about the finer things like wine with the iconic actor, as she was in many famous films like Legally Blonde and Best In Show in the early '00s.

While Coolidge never really left Hollywood, her fame has certainly skyrocketed since playing the role of Tanya in The White Lotus Season 1. During our interview, Rothwell spoke to how the Maui season was like this “little tiny bubble of creative arts” at first. Years later, when she returned for the Thailand season, of course it became one of the biggest shows on TV.

While Rothwell and Coolidge don’t get to work together for The White Lotus Season 3, there is another connection to unpack. Tanya’s husband Greg Hunt is at the Thai resort at the same time as Belinda, but with a new woman. After we’ve theorized in the past that Greg might have been the person who tried to kill Tanya, perhaps Belinda will be involved in having him put away for his crimes! The 2025 movie release Riff Raff looks to be quite the ensemble film for many notable stars to get to know each other. Having talented actors like Jennifer Coolidge, Ed Harris, Pete Davidson, Gabrielle Union, and more must mean comedic energy and dynamic personalities all coming together on set. The White Lotus star recalls a time on the set of her new movie when she saw Davidson’s “unpredictable” nature that makes the SNL comedian sound like a total boss.

Riff Raff has Pete Davidson playing a henchmen to Bill Murray’s Lonnie, who makes their way towards a former criminal’s East Coast family life. During Jennifer Coolidge’s interview with People, the Emmy Award-winning actress mentioned how winter made an appearance during the filming of Riff Raff, which meant the cast had to work in small spaces to avoid the cold. While filming, the Legally Blonde actress shared a story of something unexpected Davidson did on set, which makes him sound like a real boss:

That’s a very fancy car to roll up in the dead of winter. You can’t deny it’s a crafty way for the young comedian to impress the star-studded ensemble. But, there’s never anything wrong with a person doing their own thing and traveling around in style.

On a set filled with seasoned actors like SNL alum Bill Murray, Academy Award nominee Ed Harris, and Bring It On’s Gabrielle Union, Pete Davidson still managed to become a standout among them all. In fact, that’s what Jennifer Coolidge said she liked the most about her co-star:

If Pete Davidson is a “chameleon” to Jennifer Coolidge, then Coolidge is a “unicorn” to Davidson, according to the SNL breakout star. He told Access Hollywood during a NYC screening of Riff Raff that he couldn’t believe the Cinderella Story actress was “a real person” and how she’s “so nice, so generous.” The two must have been very fortunate to tag-team together on their new movie.

Some folks out there can understandably refer to Pete Davidson as “unpredictable.” He’s gotten himself into some controversy before, like when he went under fire on SNL in 2018 for making a joke about then-Congressional candidate Dan Crenshaw’s eye patch. Davidson was also charged with reckless driving in 2023 after crashing his car into someone’s house. Later that year while he was working on Riff Raff, the King of Staten Island actor allegedly trashed his trailer after reportedly being triggered by a paparazzi taking photos of them on set. Fortunately, a source claimed that the cast of the crime-comedy held no hard feelings towards their co-star and were more just worried for him. It’s nice that Davidson apparently had good support from his working family.

With Pete Davidson rolling up on set in his Rolls-Royce, an “unpredictable” yet smooth maneuver like that certainly impressed his Riff Raff star Jennifer Coolidge. With offbeat charm and spontaneous moves, it’s clear the Meet Cute actor knows how to make things interesting with his co-stars. Ever since the premiere episode for The White Lotus Season 3 arrived on the 2025 TV schedule this past weekend, there’s been one moment that's been sticking in my brain: The return of Jon Grie’s Greg Hunt. I’ll be honest, for a moment I actually didn’t clock that he was the husband of Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya (especially since Season 2 aired way back in 2022), but once I did, I decided it was necessary for me to do a little digging into the character’s history so far. And I’m happy I did, because it has already led me to draw a number of conclusions and hopes for the new season.

When Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya died during Season 2 of The White Lotus, we filed it under the most shocking TV deaths of the year. Time has passed, but I still can’t believe creator Mike White had the guts to kill such a standout character! It was seriously an impressive move. While I’m already missing Tanya, I do think the return of Greg could lead to some needed closure from Season 2. Let’s talk about it.

When I Looked Back At His Season 1 Introduction, Greg Was Shady From The Beginning

So, for a bit of a refresher, Jon Gries’ Greg Hunt first showed up in The White Lotus in Season 1, Episode 4 at the Maui resort where Tanya has gone to spread her mother’s ashes in the ocean. They first meet when Greg is trying to use his key to get into a room and it isn’t working. Tanya arrives at the door, where she lets him know that he’s trying to get into her room, rather than his. While it may have looked like a meet cute at the time, when I rewatched the scene years later, I could easily see how it might have been a setup to meet Tanya and start a connection for conning purposes.

Not long after their first meeting, he asks her out to dinner, and Tanya cancels a dinner she had set up with Belinda in order to meet with him. Once they do go to dinner together, Greg is rather awkward, and doesn’t seem deeply interested in her. The pair do end up hitting it off. Tanya is an easy target because she’s very needy and seems to be especially sad after her mother’s passing. Right before the vacation ends, he tells Tanya he has some health issues and could suddenly “drop dead.”

What I found particularly interesting is how Tanya tells Greg she’s had “every kind of treatment” over the years and “death is the last immersive experience I haven’t tried.” Now that I know that Tanya had a hit on her head, and Greg was involved, I wonder if he took that as an invitation to off her for some extra cash?

He Definitely Hired The Murderous Gays To Kill Tanya In Season 2

That brings us to Season 2, when we catch back up with Tanya and Greg after they have gotten married and things are obviously strained between them during a trip to Sicily. Right off the bat, Greg is very annoyed that Tanya’s assistant, Haley Lu Richardson’s Portia, has accompanied them on the trip, and he also seems extremely unhappy within their marriage. He also often tucks himself away for frequent secret phone calls, where he even utters something to the likes of “she doesn’t suspect a thing.” Then, unexpectedly he says he needs to fly back to Colorado in order to take care of business as she’s being wined and dined by a group of fancy gay men.

That leads us to the viral moment where Tanya realizes “these gays are trying to murder me” while on a yacht with them, and where she ultimately does die. This happens not long after she sees a photo of a younger Greg alongside the lead gay, Quentin. Portia also calls her right before to suggest she thinks something bad is about to go down. Tanya puts two and two together regarding how she’d need to die in order for him to get her money, and he did “insist” they come to Sicily.

I’m Worried About Belinda And Chloe, But I Think There Could Be A Twist

Now that we know that Greg is part of Season 3, and Belinda is there too, it feels like there’s only a matter of time before some dots are connected. For now, we know that Greg is traveling with a new significant other in Charlotte Le Bon’s Chloe, who bonds with Aimee Lou Wood over having grumpy, rich, balding boyfriends. Considering Greg can afford a stay in Thailand at another White Lotus resort, and not behind bars or in a meat-grinding machine, as Coolidge hopes for the character, it can be assumed he got away with it.

What I am wondering is if Chloe is another “mark” for Greg, or if he’s really with someone he likes this time. Plus, I could see the roles being reversed now that he’s stacked, and Chloe perhaps being the one who is dating for money. I do think this season has to end with Greg getting what he deserves! Or, at least I hope it does.

And, I Wonder If Season 3 Will Tie Up Another Season 2 Loose End

During my Greg deep dive, I was also reminded about a major loose end in Season 2 that the series left us with last time around. Tanya’s assistant Portia was very much someone who had a feeling Tanya would die, and she very much did. So, did Greg know Portia was on to him? Did she go to the police about it? I have to wonder if Season 3 will get into this at all, because it would be a missed opportunity if it didn’t play any role (in my opinion).

Season 3 starts with the tease of some kind of gunfire occurring, and I certainly wonder if Greg will have anything to do with it! We’ll see as the show continues to unfold on HBO and Max on Sundays.

One of TV’s glitziest and awe-inspiring mystery dramas is once again upon us, with fans eagerly awaiting HBO’s Season 3 premiere of The White Lotus, which critics had differing thoughts about. While we likely won’t see lots of unanswered Season 2 questions getting ironed out, nor any resolution for Portia’s storyline, we’ll thankfully reconnect with Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda and learn what she’s been up to.

No clue if the masseuse will learn about Season 2’s big death, but Rothwell herself opened up about learning of Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya being the second chapter’s key victim. And it may surprise no one to learn that the actress was indeed gobsmacked to see her biggest Season 1 screen partner get killed off, and that she had to learn about it along with everyone else in the world. Appearing on Today, Rothwell confirmed she was an avid watcher, and said:

You gotta love that the actress' first reaction was to throw her phone, the very device she immediately needed to use to react to what she'd just seen on her TV. And of course her go-to move was to send a message to her former co-star alluding to her shock and disbelief. Hopefully not through a smashed screen, of course.

When Jennifer Coolidge responded, she addressed the fact that even though Rothwell was a big part of Season 1 and was likely privy to most of what creator Mike White had in mind for the characters, her absence in Season 2 meant she was just as out of the loop as the average viewer. As she put it:

Considering she was personally asked by White to reprise her beloved Season 1 role in the latest episodes, Natasha Rothwell is obviously in on the secrets awaiting audiences as Season 3 rolls along. With Tanya no longer in the picture, a new corpse is expected to pop up somewhere at the Thailand resort, and Rothwell's co-star Leslie Bibb teased that it won't play out the same way fans might esxpect. According to Bibb:

Fingers crossed this latest mystery body has some kind of direct ties to the past two seasons, preferably in ways that connect Jon Gries' Greg to Tanya's death. We definitely need closure there, especially after Jennifer Coolidge seemingly revealed Greg’s devious actions tied back to Season 1, which potentially made him this series' biggest connective tissue.

The White Lotus Season 3 arrives on HBO on Sunday, February 16, at 9:00 p.m. ET, and will be streaming with a Max subscription.

How does a person go about becoming a comedy legend? Well, one good way to begin your journey is studying the art with the Los Angeles-based improv and sketch comedy troupe, The Groundlings, which has proven to be a breeding ground for many of the funniest people you have ever heard of, including quite a few Saturday Night Live cast members. Take a look at some of the most esteemed Groundlings alumni who went on to rule at Studio 8H or elsewhere.

Maya Rudolph

In an op-ed for Oprah.com, Maya Rudolph described The Groundlings as her “graduate school,” where she “ate, slept, and drank improv and sketch comedy” for four years, and even learned how to use her singing voice for comedic purposes. That skill would come in handy for her impersonations of musicians like Beyoncé and, arguably, the actor’s single funniest SNL sketch in which she takes far too long (and explores various vocal ranges) to sing the National Anthem at the World Series.

Paul Reubens

The world would have never been blessed with the iconic Pee-wee Herman if not for the Groundlings, which is where the late Paul Reubens first developed the fun-loving man-child in the 1970s. The character was actually a collaborative effort with future SNL star and fellow member Phil Hartman, who also worked with Reubens and others on the screenplay for 1985’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.

Will Forte

Will Forte told Diablo magazine that, after feeling miserable at his job as a financial broker, he changed his career path by joining The Groundlings in the early 1990s. Around a decade later, he was invited to be on SNL, where he specialized in some really weird sketches like “Spelling Bee” and “Potato Chip.”

Melissa McCarthy

While never a cast member, Melissa McCarthy went on to become known as one of the best SNL hosts in the show’s history. The Academy Award nominee earned her sketch comedy chops while a part of the Groundlings, which is also where she developed the character she played in 2016’s The Boss.

Phil Hartman

In the same year SNL started, the late, great Phil Hartman was preparing for his own tenure on the series at The Groundlings. It was more than a decade later, in 1986, when he would finally become part of the cast, working the magic he learned taking classes with the troupe.

Lisa Kudrow

Years before playing Phoebe Buffay in the Friends cast made her a star, Lisa Kudrow was part of The Groundlings, studying improv under teacher Cynthia Szigeti. She was also part of a short-lived troupe called Unexpected Company with Conan O’Brien and was the only female member of the Transformer Comedy Troupe for a while. 

Ana Gasteyer

During her six years on SNL, Ana Gasteyer mastered multiple characters — such as Bobbie Mohan-Culp — and spot-on celebrity portrayals, from Martha Stewart to Celine Dion. The Happiest Season cast member developed her impeccable sense of humor while performing with The Groundlings.

Tim Matheson

Two-time Emmy nominee Tim Matheson is not thought of as a comedic actor these days but, lest we forget, one of his earlier major roles was Otter in National Lampoon’s Animal House. Before then, he was learning how to be a comedic actor by studying improv under The Groundlings.

Kristen Wiig

Many of Kristen Wiig’s funniest quotes originated from her time at Saturday Night Live. However, she spoke most of those lines while portraying characters that really date back to her time with The Groundlings, such as Target Lady and harsh movie critic, Aunt Linda.

Craig T. Nelson

Despite plenty of roles that are not much to laugh at — such as Steve Freeling in Poltergeist or Jack Mannion on The District — Craig T. Nelson can also put down “Emmy-winning sitcom star” on his resume for playing Hayden Fox on Coach. His comedic chops do make more sense when you learn that the Incredibles star actually would break into the business performing stand-up and became a Groundlings members in the troupe’s early days.

Will Ferrell

Improvisational comedy would become a staple of Will Ferrell’s post-SNL career, as many of the funniest lines from his most famous movies — including Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby — are largely ad-libbed. The actor would develop this skill while performing with The Groundlings, which he joined in 1994 — only a year before being invited to audition for SNL producer Lorne Michaels.

Cassandra Peterson

You may know Cassandra Peterson better as Elvira, a character whom the actor would portray when presenting midnight movies on TV or in her own cult favorite movies. Peterson’s creation of the “mistress of the dark” originates from her time with The Groundlings, where she developed a “Valley Girl-esque” character who would later evolve into the “horror host” we all know and love.

Jon Lovitz

Most of the SNL characters that Jon Lovitz is most famous for — such as the self-obsessed Master Thespian and pathological liar Tommy Flanagan — actually never originated at Studio 8H. The actor and comedian first developed them when he was part of the Groundlings, which is also where he met his friend and collaborator, Phil Hartman.

Kathy Griffin

After seeing a live performance of The Groundlings, a then-19-year-old Kathy Griffin knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life. She went on to join the troupe in the early 1990s before pursuing stand-up and becoming a more prominent figure with appearances in movies like Pulp Fiction and her Emmy-winning reality show, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.

Laraine Newman

Being a part of the Not-Ready-For-Primetime Players in SNL’s infancy and portraying characters like Connie Conehead made Laraine Newman a comedy icon, but her prior background before hitting Studio 8H is particularly astonishing. After studying miming under Marcel Marceau in Paris in 1970, she became a founding member of The Groundlings when she moved to Los Angeles.

Jennifer Coolidge

Jennifer Coolidge’s road to becoming a renowned comedy icon has been a long one, having made her screen acting debut on Seinfeld in the early 1990s before playing “Stifler’s Mom” in the American Pie movies and winning two Emmy Awards for her role in HBO’s The White Lotus cast. At one point, she had the chance to perfect her skills as part of The Groundlings, whom she performed with for nearly a decade.

Chris Parnell

Before his memorable, eight-year tenure on SNL, Chris Parnell made his breakthrough into the business in the early ‘90s performing improv with The Groundlings for a number of years. These days, the actor is best recognized for his voice, which is also the voice of Cyril on Archer and Jerry on Rick and Morty.

Pat Morita

It may come as a surprise to some that, before his Academy Award-nominated role as Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid movies made him an icon, Pat Morita got his start as a stand-up comedian. The L.A. native was even part of The Groundlings in the 1970s, around the time he landed his recurring role as Arnold on Happy Days.

Chris Kattan

Following in the footsteps of his father, Kip King, Chris Kattan became part of The Groundlings, which is how he met Will Ferrell and, with him, created the characters who came to be known as “the Butabi brothers” during their time there. Later, they both wound up at SNL where they introduced the dim-witting club-goers to the mainstream, earned their own SNL movie (A Night at the Roxbury), and the rest is history. 

Phil LaMarr

Phil LaMarr is best known for his brief role in Pulp Fiction, his extensive voice acting career, and for becoming an original cast member on the hit sketch comedy series, Mad TV, where he played characters like Jaq the UBS Guy. Early on, however, the actor was actually part of a few different comedy troupes, including The Groundlings and Second City.

Cheri Oteri

One of the most talented members of the SNL cast during the mid-to-late ‘90s was Cheri Oteri, who is probably best known as Spartan cheerleader, Arianna. She was given the opportunity to join the sketch comedy series while she was part of The Groundlings, with whom she is still known to perform on occasion.

Mikey Day

Performing improv with The Groundlings led Mikey Day to become an original regular cast member on Nick Cannon’s improv comedy show, Wild ’n Out, on MTV in 2005. By 2013 — having acted and written in several other projects — he became a valued member of the SNL cast and its writing staff, for which he, Bobby Moynihan, and Seidell created the sketch that introduced the world to David S. Pumpkins, as played by Tom Hanks.

Heidi Gardner

Missouri native Heidi Gardner was working as a hairstylist in L.A. when she attended a performance by The Groundlings and became inspired to pursue acting. After working her way up in the ranks at the troupe and landing voice acting gigs, she was hired on SNL in 2017 and quickly became known as one of the show’s most dynamic performers.

Michael McDonald

The MVP at Mad TV has to be Michael McDonald (not to be confused with the musician), whose early days in comedy included performing improv with The Groundlings. In fact — as he recalled on Comedy Central’s This Is Not Happening — Academy Award winner Faye Dunaway saw him at one of his shows with the troupe and enlisted his help in honing her comedy skills.

Julia Sweeney

Julia Sweeney’s most iconic contribution to Saturday Night Live is her role as a person of indeterminant gender known only as Pat. She would first invent the character — who later inspired a movie called It’s Pat in 1994 — while performing with the Groundlings, along with other famous characters of her own — including Mea Culpa.

Jim Rash

Jim Rash is one of the most accomplished comedy talents of his time, having stolen the show from his fellow Community cast members as Dean Craig Pelton and earned an Academy Award alongside his longtime writing partner Nat Faxon, for penning the screenplay for Alexander Payne’s 2011 adaptation of The Descendants. Rash actually first met Faxon while both of them were performing with The Groundlings in the early 2000s.

Taran Killam

Even before Taran Killam joined The Groundlings, he was already well-versed in show business — having made his acting debut in The Naked Gun 33-1/3: The Final Insult, becoming a major presence on Nickelodeon’s The Amanda Show and even joining Mad TV for 2001-2002 season. In fact, it was not until two years after he was hired on SNL in 2010 that he officially retired from The Groundlings’ main company.

Wendi McLendon-Covey

Nearly a decade after joining The Groundlings in 2002, Wendi McLendon-Covey collaborated with fellow troupe veterans of Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Melissa McCarthy as part of the Bridesmaids cast in 2011. Just a couple of years later, the comedian would begin to earn raves for her leading role in the hit ABC sitcom, The Goldbergs.

Michaela Watkins

Despite earning acclaim for her unique characters — most notably tech whiz Angie Tempura —  and hilarious celebrity impersonations of Barbara Walters, Hoda Kotb, and more, Michaela Watkins ended up lasting only one year at SNL before she was let go in 2009. At least her career since has proven to be very successful — let alone the fact that she can say she was a regular performer with The Groundlings for several years.

Jillian Bell

While she never made it on Saturday Night Live as a cast member, Jillian Bell did write for the show during its 35th Season, before going on to appear in Bridesmaids and star in the likes of Workaholics, 22 Jump Street, and Brittany Runs a Marathon. Years before those career milestones, the actor joined The Groundlings soon after moving to Los Angeles. 

Edie McClurg

Multi-generational audiences should recognize Edie McClurg from the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off cast as Ed Rooney’s assistant, Grace, who referred to Matthew Broderick’s title character as a “righteous dude.” Said famous line was actually an ad-lib, which should come as no surprise to anyone who knows her history with The Groundlings, which she performed with in the 1970s.

Tim Bagley

Tim Bagley is a comedian known best for his many notable recurring roles on series like Will & Grace and Monk. He first broke into the industry in the late 1980s as a performer for The Groundlings, whom he continues to perform with from time to time.

Whether or not you end up on SNL or even do something greater, The Groundlings is a great place for aspiring comedic actors to get started.

When The White Lotus Season 3 hits HBO with a mysterious murder or two — which won’t be until 2025 sadly — it will introduce a mostly new cast with at least one returning star in the form of Natasha Rothwell. One star whose return is 99% impossible would be Jennifer Coolidge, whose boozy talker Tanya faced a fatal plunge in the question-provoking Season 2 finale. And it sounds like the actress is rather amusingly displeased with being removed from creator Mike White’s vision. 

Speaking with Today about her new Discover ad that will be airing during the Super Bowl, the Best In Show vet got comedically candid when addressing the fact that she’s not currently filming for Season 3 with the rest of the cast. In her words:

Though I’m sure it’s nice to not get called in for costume fittings, Jennifer Coolidge was one of the best-dressed actors in all of TV throughout 2022, with Tanya rocking a seemingly endless line of brightly colored dresses and accessories. (Rewatch them all with a Max subscription.) So for all that trying out clothes sucks, there’s hopefully a certain amount of joy to be had in looking like a million dollars in the million-dollar settings The White Lotus frequents. 

Beyond the costuming, Coolidge is understandably jealous of all the stars who have been aligned for the third season, which is shifting to Thailand this time around. The cast that she’s envious of includes such stars as Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, Walton Goggins, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Michelle Monaghan, to name a few. It also includes Parker Posey, Coolidge’s occasional co-star from various Christopher Guest movies. It’s a shame we won’t get to see that connection on the small screen.

But could we? For all that it seems clear as crystal that Tanya isn’t willing or able to make it to this particular resort, fans apparently still think it’s a possibility, and are quick to ask her if it’s happening. Here’s how she put it:

I guess I get why people keep asking, when she’s saying things like “I think I’m dead,” which is a soft-shoed indicator that Mike White never wrote “Tanya is deceased” or anything so straightforward in the Season 2 finale script. (That, or Jennifer Coolidge just skipped that part.) But even if that ending was all a ruse, and Tanya miraculously survived that ordeal, surely she wouldn’t make another White Lotus hotel one of her next vacation spots, right?

While there was a long stretch of time were most movies based on video games failed to hit with audiences, this particular subset of cinema has been experiencing greater fortune in recent years. Detective Pikachu, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mortal Kombat, Uncharted, Gran Turismo and The Super Mario Bros. Movie were all critically and/or commercially successful to one degree or another (that last one was a big contributor to 2023 being the best year for video game movies and TV shows ever), and now Minecraft, the best-selling video game of all time, is getting its chance to shine on the big screen.

It was announced in April 2022 that a film adaptation of the 3D survival sandbox game was finally moving forward after being in development since 2014. It will be directed by Napoleon Dynamite’s Jared Hess, but the screenwriter hasn’t been identified yet. No story details have been revealed yet either for the upcoming Minecraft movie, which is shooting in New Zealand, but we do know many of the actors who will lend their talents to this feature exploring the blocky, three-dimensional world, including the likes of Jason Momoa and Jack Black. So let’s go over who’s been unveiled for the Minecraft cast so far.

Jason Momoa

Jason Momoa was the first actor to be revealed for Minecraft, entering final negotiations to join the upcoming video movie around the same time it finally started gaining steam at Warner Bros. Pictures. This keeps Momoa’s strong foothold over at the studio going, having previously played Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe and Duncan Idaho in Dune, and there are even rumblings of him playing Lobo in the new DC Universe continuity. Momoa’s Minecraft character hasn’t been named yet, but in addition to starring in the movie, he’s one of its producers.

Jack Black

Jack Black has been on one hell of a run lately with video game movies lately. He played the avatar Professor Shelly Oberon in the last two Jumanji movies, voiced Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie and is portraying Claptrap as a member of the Borderlands cast, with that latter movie slated on the 2024 release schedule. Now we can also expect him to appear in Minecraft as a character named Steve, with Black seemingly confirming his casting shortly after his involvement was reported. 

Danielle Brooks

Some of you might be familiar with Danielle Brook’s TV work on shows like Orange is the New Black and Peacemaker, while others might’ve been introduced to her on the big screen when she starred as Sofia in The Color Purple, a role she’s previously played on Broadway. Either way, now she’s getting to stretch her performing talents into the video game realm. Brooks will play someone named Dawn in the Minecraft film adaptation.

Sebastian Eugene Hansen

Sebastian Eugene Hansen is the youngest member of the Minecraft cast, but he’s already done quite well for himself in his short time professionally acting. He’s played the young Scott Landon in the miniseries Lisey’s Story (which can be streamed with an Apple TV+ subscription), and he also starred opposite Michael B. Jordan and Brie Larson in Just Mercy. Hansen will Henry in Minecraft, and although. we don’t know what to expect from him, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up being either the main protagonist, or at least something along the lines of the audience stand-in character.

Emma Myers

Emma Myers began her acting career as a child in 2010, but she really blew up in 2022 when she starred in Wednesday, the popular supernatural comedy horror show Netflix subscribers can stream, as Enid Sinclair, the werwolf roommate of Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams. Following Wednesday’s successful first season, she performed opposite Jennifer Garner in the Netflix movie Family Switch, and now she’s finally getting to make her blockbuster debut with Minecraft. Just like with Momoa, we don’t know the name of Myers’ character yet.

Jennifer Coolidge

Jennifer Coolidge has been around the acting block for decades now, with some of her biggest projects including the American Pie film series, the Legally Blonde movies, Best in Show, The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Two Broke Girls. There’s no question, though, that her profile got a significant boost from her role as Tanya McQuoid in the first two seasons of HBO’s The White Lotus, for which she won two Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award. Minecraft is her next scheduled movie, but we don’t have any details about her character either.

Kate McKinnon

Barbie ended up being the most commercially-successful movie of 2023 and also one of the year’s most critically-acclaimed pieces of cinematic entertainment, and Kate McKinnon participated in this pop culture phenomenon as Weird Barbie, the doll who directed Margot Robbie’s Stereotypical Barbie to travel to the real world. The Saturday Night Live alum, who also recently played Carole Baskin in Peacock's Joe vs. Carole miniseries, will stick around the Warner Bros. Space to appear in Minecraft, but we’ll have to wait to learn how she fits into the story.

Jemaine Clemen

Originally best known for comprising one half of Flight of the Concords with Bret McKenzie, Jemaine Clement has built an impressive filmography for himself that includes Despicable Me, Men in Black 3, What We Do in the Shadows, Moana and Avatar: The Way of Water, the latter of which saw him playing Dr. Ian Gavin. I'd be remiss if I also didn't mention his recurring role as Oliver Bird in the TV series Legion. In addition to reprising Ian in Avatar 3 and co-creating Apple TV+’s Time Bandits TV adaptation, we can also expect to see him playing a mystery role in Minecraft.

After two seasons of The White Lotus on HBO, star Jennifer Coolidge, though certainly well known before, has become a bit of a sensation. Her work as super rich grieving-daughter-turned-newlywed Tanya McQuoid-Hunt not only brought her much adoration from the show’s fans, but also led to an awards season sweep that surprised the one-time Two Broke Girls star. It turns out, though, that the thought of potentially spending so much time in a bathing suit for the series scared Coolidge, but a Alexandra Daddario bikini realization helped ground her.

What Did The White Lotus’ Jennifer Coolidge Say About Being Scared To Wear A Bathing Suit On The Show?

It’s no longer a secret that many people, even those of us who are famous, beautiful, and talented, have issues when it comes to our bodies. The same can be said for the woman who portrayed American Pie’s famous MILF, Jeanine Stifler, at least with regards to wearing a swimsuit on camera for The White Lotus. 

When speaking to The Hollywood Reporter for the outlet’s Drama Actress Roundtable, Coolidge admitted that she wasn’t originally going to take the role of Tanya, which came up about six months into the pandemic. Show creator Mike White had told her it would be “on a beach in bathing suits,” and she admitted that she’d been eating pizza basically all day, every day, thinking “we were all going to die during COVID,” so she’d given up on any limits, adding:

Listen, I think there are few people who would be willing to put on a bathing suit and parade around on camera, whether they are trained in the dramatic arts or not. It’s a scary thing for many, and some people won’t even do it in their regular lives to go to a community pool, when there’s no film crew around. We both put a lot of pressure on ourselves to look a certain way for specific clothing, and often fall to the pressure of others’ expectations that we maintain a very narrowly defined body type before showing any skin. So, Coolidge’s fears make sense.

At this point, Clare Danes and Jennifer Garner piped up, with the former asking why she was so scared, and the latter saying she’d “be scared of putting on a bathing suit” as well. Coolidge responded:

Assuming you’ve finished both seasons of the surprising drama, you know by now that Tanya hardly spends the bulk of her time in a swimsuit, at least not one that isn’t covered by a gorgeous caftan, long, flowy dress, or some sort of wrap/full cover-up situation. Meaning that her fear was largely unfounded. 

As she noted, she had talented co-stars like Sydney Sweeney and Alexandra Daddario to put on itsy bitsy bikinis. In fact, an infamous Season 1 white bikini scene featuring Daddario and Sweeney caused such a stir that people were still talking about it as the second season aired, and the duo actually recreated it because it was so popular.

I think we’re all glad that Coolidge didn’t let her bathing suit fears get the better of her, as she’s clearly happy that she didn’t let such a small thing stop her from a dream role. And, while we are unlikely to see Tanya in Season 3, she sure was a wild time while we had her.

Almost everyone who has watched The White Lotus became kind of obsessed with it as each season progressed, and for good reason. The HBO hit utilizes great characters, thrilling twists and turns, and features incredible performances from some fan-favorite actors. While audiences are still waiting for the cast of Season 3 to be announced, creator Mike White recently commented on ideas he's had for a potential prequel season, and I’m so down. 

In a recent interview with Deadline, the Emmy winner opened up about possibly spinning off the luxurious universe of The White Lotus, and his ideas thankfully involve Jennifer Coolidge’s character Tanya, whom audiences fell in love with during the first two seasons on the HBO series. White discussed the possibility of the actress returning to the show, and how the spinoff series could make this happen by way of a prequelized timeline in Australia. The creator said:

Coolidge always seems down for anything, and always performs every scene thrown at her hilariously and flawlessly. Last season, we saw Tanya whisked away on a boat by a group of gay men in Sicily, where madness ensued and resulted in a shocking finale. It was truly bizarre and bonkers, but still worked perfectly enough because The Watcher star at the center brought the emotional heft. I’m so glad White is already dreaming up ways for Coolidge to return, as I think Lotus fans will be missing her in The White Lotus Season 3. 

While there are seemingly tons of ideas for spinoffs and future seasons of The White Lotus swirling around Mike White’s head, he currently has his hands full and is probably focusing primarily on the announced Season 3. The season has been confirmed to be produced in Thailand with mostly a new cast. While Coolidge won’t be returning, Natasha Rothwell will be, so fans can look forward to seeing the Belinda character once again. Many Season 3 details still remain under wraps, but if past seasons are any indication, the show is safe in White’s hands.

Unfortunately, audiences may have to wait even longer than anticipated for more of The White Lotus, spinoffs or otherwise. Hollywood is in the midst of the WGA writers strike, which has indefinitely delayed production on the beloved HBO series. I’m sure this is a disappointment to many fans who are looking forward to seeing what Thailand has to offer for a unique cast of characters, but per strike rules, production can not continue until the WGA settles their contract with the studios.

At the end of The White Lotus Season 2, fans of the hit HBO series had to say goodbye to Tanya McQuoid-Hunt – the character falling off a boat and hitting her head before drowning – but there is one important loose thread that is still sticking around after her demise: what's going to happen to her husband, Greg Hunt? It is he who is technically responsibly for Tanya's death (even if the assassination he helped organize didn't go as planned), but we are presently unaware of any consequences he may ultimately face. It's a situation that will hopefully get some closure in The White Lotus Season 3... but while we wait to see what showrunner Mike White cooks up, Jennifer Coolidge has her own thoughts about what should happen to her on-screen hubby.

Variety has posted the transcript of a sit-down between Coolidge and The Bear star Jeremy Allen White (no relation to Mike White), and at the very end there is some discussion about Greg Hunt's fate. The actress doesn't specifically know what is going to happen in The White Lotus Season 3, but she is hoping that actor Jon Gries returns to play Greg again and that he meets a gnarly end:

Legally speaking, Greg Hunt probably deserves to be arrested and put in prison for life for organizing the death of Tanya, but there are probably a lot of White Lotus fans out there would would agree with Jennifer Coolidge and want to see Greg suffer a horrible and painful fate.

On The White Lotus, Tanya and Greg first met in Season 1 while both were vacationing in Hawaii, and they quickly fell for one another – despite Greg having long to live. By the time Season 2 catches up with the characters, they are married and it's clear that the romance is gone. Greg leaves midway through their Italian vacation together, and he secretly setts Tanya up to be "taken care of" by his former lover Quentin (Tom Holllander) and his friends so that he can steal all of her money.

While Jennifer Coolidge wants to see Jon Gries back on The White Lotus Season 3 as Greg, she has personal closure when it comes to the life of Tanya McQuoid-Hunt. As she explained to Jeremy Allen White,

At present, not much is known about what fans can expect from The White Lotus Season 3, but it has been reported that Natasha Rothwell will reprise the role of Belinda Lindsey. The door is still wide open for other characters who could return, and we're still waiting to learn about what exotic location Mike White will pick for the setting. The show only got better from Season 1 to Season 2, so our expectations for what's to come are high.

HBO has long been a hub for prestige television, with a number of acclaimed series winning major awards in the process. One of the most popular shows currently running on the premium network is Mike White's dark comedy The White Lotus, with each season including an all-star cast. Season 2 featured the return of Emmy winner Jennifer Coolidge's Tanya McQuoid, who got a truly shocking ending in the Season 2 finale. The White Lotus has revealed a surprise character returning for Season 3, and I'm completely shook.

Since early into Season 2, I began to theorize about which White Lotus characters might return as Jennifer Coolidge did. And now we know it's officially happening, with Variety revealing that Natasha Rothwell will be back for the third season as Belinda Lindsey. And considering her connection to Tanya throughout Season 1, this feels like a narrative and significant choice to make.

Belinda is one of the many White Lotus employees that have appeared during the show, running the spa at the Maui resort in the first season. After giving Tanya some treatments, Coolidge's character becomes enamored and tells her she'd like to use her wealth to help her franchise her very own line of wellness centers. Unfortunately, Tanya moves on from that obsession to her ill-fated relationship with Greg (Jonathan Gries), leaving Belinda dejected by the finale. 

Given Tanya's insane death sequence during the The White Lotus Season 2 finale, it seems significant that Mike White would bring back a character that was so deeply connected to her story in the first season. Will she somehow be involved in the late character's funeral? What if Belinda is actually in her will instead of Greg? Or will she help uncover his involvement in her Italian death? Only time will tell, but there's some thrilling narrative possibilities to mull over.

This is the first big casting announcement that we've gotten concerning Season 3 of The White Lotus. Indeed, director/writer/showrunner alum Mike White has been keeping his cards close to the chest throughout the development process. But we do know that the third installment of the franchise will take place in Thailand, revealing yet another gorgeous location for the titular resort chain. White, who is also a Survivor alum, has also hinted that Season 3 will be "a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality." 

Speaking of Survivor, I'm also curious to see if White invites any fellow castaways for a cameo in Season 3 of The White Lotus. The cold open of Season 2 featured two of the contestants that he played with, and it would also be fun to see this become a running joke. I can dream, can't I?

Unfortunately, it’s well-documented that Hollywood has a tendency to be sexist and ageist as told by various women in the industry over the years. As we continue to observe Women’s History Month this year, we’re looking at the actresses across movies and television currently working today that have carved out a place for themselves despite the status quo favoring younger actresses, whilst it's the norm for the male actors to enjoy careers well into their 60s, 70s and beyond. 

It was reported a few years back by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media that while characters over 50 make up a fifth of characters on television, only a fourth of them are played by women (via Buzzfeed). With that in mind, there’s a gender gap with opportunities being favored for older men much more than women. Thankfully, these actresses have found a way to thrive in Hollywood after turning 50.  

Michelle Yeoh 

Recently, at the 2023 Oscars, the ceremony actually celebrated numerous actresses that are thriving after 50, including Best Actress winner, Michelle Yeoh. The Everything Everywhere All At Once lead accepted the award not only as the first Asian actress to win in the category, but as a “beacon” of hope for more women her age to be seen in major roles. As she accepted the trophy, she said: "Ladies, don't let anybody tell you you are past your prime." 

Yeoh has been over 50 in Hollywood for over a decade now, and is enjoying an exciting era in her career by finding key roles in successful movies like Crazy Rich Asians and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, or finding empowering roles in recent TV series like Star Trek: Discovery and The Witcher: Blood Origin. 

Jamie Lee Curtis

Yeoh’s Everything Everywhere co-star Jamie Lee Curtis also took home an Oscar for the movie in the Best Supporting Actress category after over 45 years working in Hollywood. Curtis was a teenager when she found her breakout role in Halloween, but decade after decade she has continued to be cast in exciting roles, especially after turning 50. In Curtis’ fifties and sixties the actress has revived her role as Laurie Strode in a new Halloween trilogy, starred in Knives Out and has a wealth of roles on the horizon, including Borderlands and Haunted Mansion. 

Angela Bassett 

Curtis’ fellow nominee in the Best Supporting Actress category in 2023 was Angela Bassett, for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, who also remains a working icon into her mid-sixties. Aside from starring as Queen Ramonda in the Marvel franchise, the actress continues to lead the network series 9-1-1 along with appearing in multiple seasons of American Horror Story and recently being part of the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Helen Mirren

One of the most iconic actresses to consistently nab interesting roles for herself following turning 50 is Helen Mirren. The British talent hit the milestone in 1995, before she’d made some of her most beloved and best movies, like 2001’s Gosford Park, 2003’s Calendar Girls or her 2006 Oscar-winning performance in The Queen. Mirren has continued to play leading roles in the past decade, such as starring in the Red films, her incredible role in the Fast and the Furious movies along with leading 1923 and Shazam! Fury of the Gods within the past year. 

Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin

While I could certainly talk about Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in their own right, the fact that this pair got themselves their own hit comedy series, Grace and Frankie, in their late seventies (across seven seasons, no less) deserves to be celebrated. These two have modeled, brought life to and joked about the lives of older women who are best friends, and we’re so blessed it exists. The pair hit 50 in the late ‘80s and thrived, remaining booked and busy. Among the 2023 new movie releases, they are in back-to-back movies together, too, 80 For Brady and Moving On. 

Rita Moreno

One of Rita Moreno’s first roles was in 1952’s Singin’ in the Rain. Seventy years later her career is still very much popping, between starring in Netflix’s sitcom, One Day At A Time, and voicing the role of Carmen Sandiego for the original animated series. This year, Moreno also starred in 80 For Brady and has joined the Fast and the Furious franchise as Dominic Toretto’s grandma. 

Sally Field

Speaking of 80 For Brady leads, Sally Field has continued to remain relevant and very much respected in Hollywood at the age of 76. From being nominated for an Oscar for her role in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln to bringing new life to Aunt May in The Amazing Spider-Man movies, or starring in critically acclaimed movies like Hello, My Name Is Doris and Spoiler Alert, Field has continued to impress after a massive first half of her career. 

Emma Thompson

In the nearly 15 years that Emma Thompson has been over 50, she has accomplished a lot. She gave a powerful performance as P.L. Travers in the sweet Saving Mr. Banks' movie alongside Tom Hanks, she gave Cruella a formidable foe of her own in the titular 2021 Disney prequel, and tackled the usually taboo topic of exploring sexuality past one’s “prime” and filmed nude scenes for Good Luck To You, Leo Grande. 

Ming-Na Wen

When Ming-Na Wen turned 50 back in 2013, she was just getting her start playing Melinda May on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, a badass and highly-skilled operative she continued to play for over 100 episodes. Since finding success with that series, which is now her most famous role outside Mulan, Wen has joined the Star Wars universe as Fennec Shand, a female bounty hunter and master assassin. 

Catherine O’Hara

Catherine O’Hara is well-known to an entirely new generation than those who grew up seeing her in movies like Best In Show, Beetlejuice or Home Alone, thanks to her beloved role in Schitt’s Creek as Moira Rose. O’Hara will go down in history as playing one of the funniest TV characters in a big role she found well after 50. 

Jane Lynch

Jane Lynch booked her most popular role of Sue Sylvester on Glee right as she was turning 50 and played the character for six seasons before finding all sorts of work in showbiz otherwise. She notably voices the role of Calhoun in the Wreck-It Ralph movies, along with having major roles in the hit shows The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Party Down and with hosting 75 episodes of the original celebrity game show, Celebrity Game Night. 

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

The Seinfeld star not only found herself a whole other well-loved TV show to lead and produce after 50 with HBO’s Veep, which she also won nine consecutive Emmy awards for, but she’s a major player in the Marvel universe now. Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been consistently quick on her feet on the comedy front and proved to be an impressive dramatic actress as well, with roles in films like Enough Said. 

Jennifer Coolidge

Then, there’s Jennifer Coolidge’s recent comeback for The White Lotus that has the actress literally everywhere right now. Along with the 61-year-old recently winning her first Emmy for her hilarious role as Tanya McQuoid, Coolidge has had loads of projects she has stolen the show in, in the past couple of years in particular, like Promising Young Woman, The Watcher and Shotgun Wedding alongside Jennifer Lopez.

Jessica Lange 

Four decades after Jessica Lange became a star for roles like her Oscar-nominated work in Tootsie and Frances, she is still a huge name, particularly thanks to her move to TV in collaboration with Ryan Murphy on his numerous shows. Lange always provides strong performances in her ever-changing American Horror Story roles, along with portraying Joan Crawford in Feud. 

Allison Janney 

Allison Janney is another actress who got wide recognition for being in one of the best-regarded TV shows of all time, The West Wing. After starring in 155 episodes of the drama, Janney has continued to explore all sorts of interesting characters across her career, especially after 50, whether it be in the sitcom Mom, winning an Oscar for her chilling mother role in I, Tonya or her booked 2022 that put an additional three movies under her belt. Janney is even more famous now than she was when she was a younger actress. 

Julianne Moore 

A new role from Julianne Moore is never too far away these days. The 62-year-old actress has accomplished a lot over 50 and has even been in with the kids because of her key role in the Hunger Games franchise or starring alongside Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard in the recent indie, When You Finish Saving the World. Moore has starred in so many great movies just within the past decade that it can be hard to recall she’s also the same actress from Boogie Nights and Far From Heaven. 

Tilda Swinton 

We don’t have enough female character actors in the world, but Tilda Swinton embodies someone new so frequently that we can barely imagine what she’s like in real life. The majority of Swinton’s best roles have occurred since she turned 50, such as We Need To Talk About Kevin, or her numerous times working with Wes Anderson and Bong Joon-Ho. 

Viola Davis

Viola Davis is one of the most acclaimed actors of our time right now and it feels like she’s also just getting started. Recently, the actress did just about every stunt as a warrior and leader in The Woman King and has become the most-nominated Black actress in Academy Awards history. 

Meryl Streep 

I mean, it’s Meryl. What else do we have to say? The 73-year-old actress has always been magnificent on screen no matter her age and has proven her great talent and ability to be a chameleon on the screen again and again. Since turning 50, Streep has starred in all-time great movies like The Devil Wears Prada, Mamma Mia, and Iron Lady, and looking forward, she's about to guest star in Only Murders In the Building. 

It’s great to see so many women have broken through and found roles for themselves after 50 in the industry. It really comes down to great roles being written for women of all ages for their opportunities to exist. 

Many of Netflix’s original horror movies are among the best horror movies I have seen in more recent years. Joining forces with the platform is Christopher Landon — the writer and director of recent favorites from Blumhouse, Freaky and the Happy Death Day films — for his latest horror-comedy movie, We Have a Ghost.

Based on the short story, “Ernest,” by Geoff Manaugh, the new 2023 Netflix original movie follows an average family who get themselves into a situation that is far from ordinary after discovering that the lingering spirit of a deceased man lives in their new house. However, once you see who plays titular apparition, you will understand why this ghostly presence is nothing to be afraid of. That is where we shall start as we take a look at the actors who make up the We Have a Ghost cast.

David Harbour (Ernest)

As the ghostly, but friendly, Ernest, we have David Harbour, who has played characters who've, instead, had to deal with paranormal activity before — Hellboy in the comic book hero’s 2019 reboot and Hopper in the Stranger Things cast. 

The two-time Emmy nominee’s other previous comic book roles include Dexter Tolliver in 2016’s Suicide Squad and Red Guardian in the Black Widow cast, and his other Netflix exclusive credits include Extraction and the animated series, Q-Force. The Violent Night cast’s Santa actor is also known for Brokeback Mountain, Revolutionary Road, End of Watch, and Stephen Soderbergh’s twisty 2021 crime drama, No Sudden Move.

Anthony Mackie (Frank)

Playing Frank, the father of the household that Ernest haunts, is fellow MCU star Anthony Mackie who — before playing current Captain America, Sam Wilson — made his film debut in 8 Mile, which he followed with several more notable releases, including two Best Picture Oscar winners (Million Dollar Baby and The Hurt Locker). 

We Have a Ghost is only Mackie’s latest collaboration with Netflix — following original sci-fi movies IO and Outside the Wire and original sci-fi TV shows Black Mirror and Altered Carbon Season 2, among other titles. Some of his most notable credits as off late include fact-based crime drama Detroit, 2018 social commentary The Hate U Give, and the recent time travel favorite, Synchronic, in 2019.

Jahi Winston (Kevin)

Starring as Frank’s son and Ernest's living friend, Kevin, is Jahi Winston, who debuted at age 13 on AMC’s short-lived drama, Feed the Beast, before landing his first movie with 2017’s The Upside, which he followed the next year with a role in Taraji P. Henson’s Blaxploitation throwback, Proud Mary, and his last Netflix original title — the short-lived series, Everything Sucks! 

In 2019, he appeared alongside the all-star cast of The Dead Don’t Die and in one of the best Daniel Kaluuya movies, Queen & Slim. The following year, he led Charm City Kings — an HBO Max original no longer available on the platform — and the thriller The Violent Heart.

Tig Notaro (No Character Name Provided)

Another We Have a Ghost cast member who has worked with Netflix multiple times — such as for one of her stand-up specials, as Marianne Peters in the Army of the Dead cast, a documentary about her cancer diagnosis, and the hit rom-com, Your Place or Mine, most recently — is Tig Notaro. The comedian (also the co-creator and star of her short-lived, autobiographical Amazon Prime dramedy, One Mississippi) has led a versatile acting career that includes comedy movies like 2018’s Instant Family and even one of the Star Trek TV shows — namely Star Trek: Discovery as Commander Jett Reno.

Erica Ash (No Character Name Provided)

The last you might have seen of We Have a Ghost cast member Erica Ash on Netflix is in her recurring role of Grace on Family Reunion, but her earliest credits include breakout gigs on sketch comedy series The Big Gay Sketch Show and MADtv, a notable feature film role in 2013’s Scary Movie V, and hilarious performance on BET’s Real Husbands of Hollywood as co-creator Kevin Hart’s ex-wife, Bridgette. 

After appearing in 2018’s sports comedy, Uncle Drew, she led the 2019 crime thriller, Skin in the Game and earned a recurring role on The CW’s Legacies. More recently, Ash leant her voice to HBO’s animated DC TV show, Aquaman: King of Atlantis, appeared in the Shudder original anthology horror movie, Horror Noire, and returned to sketch comedy with an episode of HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show.

Jennifer Coolidge (No Character Name Provided)

As a medium from the West Bay we have Jennifer Coolidge, whose own previous Netflix exclusive credits include the 2016’s Mascots (her latest of several mockumentaries directed by Christopher Guest), the 2021 LGBTQ+ holiday rom-com, Single All the Way, and The Watcher cast as a realtor. 

However, some of her biggest fans may recognize her better from the American Pie cast as Stifler’s Mom, the Legally Blonde movies, or her Emmy-winning role in The White Lotus cast as Tanya McQuoid. Her eclectic career (which began with a Seinfeld episode) also includes a starring role on 2 Broke Girls, playing Carey Mulligan’s mom in Promising Young Woman, and the recent romantic action movie, Shotgun Wedding.

Another member of sitcom royalty in the We Have a Ghost cast is Faith Ford, who earned five Emmy nominations for playing Corky Sherwood on Murphy Brown (including the 2018 revival), before playing the late Norm Macdonald’s love interest on his self-titled sitcom and, later, playing one-half of the titular sisterly duo on ABC’s Hope & Faith. Niles Fitch (No Character Name Provided)

Another Netflix veteran in the We Have a Ghost cast — with guest spots on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Atypical, and Social Distance — is Niles Fitch, who debuted with a guest role on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne before earning a recurring role on Army Wives and landing his film debut with 2014’s St. Vincent. Soon after, he landed his best known role as a younger Randall Pearson alongside the This Is Us cast and, during that run, starred opposite Denzel Washington in Roman J. Israel, Esq., played Uzo Aduba’s son in Miss Viriginia, and was in the Jenna Ortega-led coming-of-age drama, The Fallout. 

Isabella Russo (No Character Name Provided)

Isabella Russo’s Netflix exclusive credits prior to joining this cast consist of one episode of two different animated series — Centaurworld and Princess Power. She also leant her voice to Apple TV+’s Wolfboy and the Everything Factory, but her notable live-action work includes two episodes of HBO’s Crashing and on episodes of both Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Organized Crime that crossed over with one another in 2022.

Last, but not least, we have Jennifer Coolidge’s Shotgun Wedding co-star, Steve Coulter, whose very impressive and lengthy resume includes franchises like the Fast and Furious movies and the Conjuring Universe (both of which feature him as a priest) and other acclaimed films like Just Mercy and The Front Runner, to name a few. While promoting her latest film -- Your Place or Mine -- during an interview with ET, she couldn’t say enough great things about her former co-star. And if her comments are anything to go by, it sounds like Witherspoon is keen on reuniting with Jennifer Coolidge on Legally Blonde 3 when the time is right:

This is fantastic news for Legally Blonde fans. Jennifer Coolidge’s character, Paulette, is one of the best parts of both films, and her a contribution to the “Bend and Snap” scene is essentially iconic at this point. Coolidge has been a shining star for years and, while the actress certainly is very busy with her career renaissance, I hope she signs on to give Paulette one last go. 

Legally Blonde 3's fate has seemingly been up in the air for some time now. Witherspoon has been discussing the potential for a threequel since 2018, and the film has been taking small steps forward ever since. Mindy Kaling has been attached to the script for years, and Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, is set to produce the project. Luke Wilson has also expressed a desire to reprise his role as Elle Wood’s boyfriend-turned-husband, Emmett. Meanwhile, some have speculated whether Selma Blair might reprise her role as Vivian from the original 2001 movie. Hopefully, these actors and more are able to return.

In the meantime though, both Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Coolidge are incredibly busy with a slew of other projects. Coolidge is set to star in the Netflix film We Have a Ghost, which is an adventure comedy co-starring David Harbour and Anthony Mackie. Witherspoon also has a bunch of producing projects in the works, including the much-anticipated Amazon Prime series, Daisy Jones and the Six. Her fans are also looking forward to the third season of The Morning Show. But let's hope that schedules align so that both can reprise their roles as Elle and Paulette.

Jennifer Coolidge has quickly become an awards season darling. One of her incredible back-to-back performances in HBO’s anthology series, The White Lotus, has earned her an Emmy, Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award. The Legally Blonde alum seems like she couldn’t be happier to be in the room, too. When she was recently asked if she ever saw an awards season "sweep" in her future, Coolidge gave a hilariously candid response, and I just can't get it out of my mind.

After taking home the Critics Choice Award at the ceremony, the Shotgun Wedding star seemed absolutely overwhelmed by the kinds of attention she was getting. Yahoo Entertainment asked her if she ever predicted she would be sweeping the awards circuit, and Coolidge seemed flabbergasted while responding:

She truly is a woman of the people. The star, like many of us, has spent many awards seasons curled up on the couch with a snack while watching big stars accept trophies for their career-defining performances. This thought alone is the biggest reason why I can't stop thinking about her comments. While Jennifer Coolidge has had big movies and TV shows in the past -- including American Pie, Legally Blonde and Best In Show -- the HBO dramedy is the project that's really thrust her into the public consciousness. Her roles are all somewhat iconic and even if the ending of White Lotus Season 2 doesn't spell good news for the Tanya character, I have faith that creator Mike White will find a way to bring Coolidge back to the acclaimed series.

It's also looking likely that she'll return for the long-anticipated Legally Blonde 3, which fans of the original movies can’t wait to see. Plot details are still under wraps, but we do know Reese Witherspoon is returning to star in and produce the film. This is an exciting time for Coolidge, and her candid sentiments about her success are sure to resonate with many as time goes on.

Even though I am a fan of many of the best romantic comedies, I will freely admit that the genre can frequently be hit or miss (like, well, every other genre), which is why I’m usually eager to try new entries when I hear about them. This is one of the reasons why I was excited to watch Shotgun Wedding when it finally debuted as part of the 2023 new movie releases. Not only has star Jennifer Lopez been in some lovely rom-coms that I’ve enjoyed thoroughly, but if you also promise me a romantic adventure a la Romancing the Stone/The Lost City, I’m there, OK?

Luckily, Lopez, Josh Duhamel and the rest of the Shotgun Wedding cast delivered an engaging rom-com that kept me watching, and also brought up a lot of thoughts for me as I watched the film. So, let’s dig into them!

Obviously Darcy And Tom Were Right To Pay For Their Own Wedding

I cannot believe that Darcy’s mom gave her shit for not accepting money from her dad for their wedding. You guys? Darcy and Tom are like 152 years old. And, before you give me shit for ragging on the fact that they are a very mature couple, know that I, too, am like 152 years old.

As Darcy tells her mom, they’re old enough to pay for their own wedding, and despite some early mistakes with the printing on their pre-ceremony reception napkins, no amount of money was going to help them avoid the near disaster to come, anyway.

But I Still Don’t Get Why Tom Had To Plan The Whole Thing Himself

OK, so Darcy and Tom had the money to pay for their own destination wedding in the Philippines. That’s great, but I still don’t get why “groomzilla” (as Darcy’s mom calls him) had to literally plan every detail himself. As we see later, he even hand-made all of the centerpieces and welcome bags for their guests himself. I realize he wanted everything to be perfect for his bride (who didn’t even want this big wedding) and probably had some extra time on his hands after being released as a minor league baseball player, but still. Learn to delegate (and listen to Darcy), my dude!

Ugh, A Public Proposal

Blah. Who in the world decided, at some point in the very long history of humanity and traditional marriage, that springing a proposal on your intended with a massive audience was a good idea? 

I don’t see anything romantic about them at all. It just seems like a way to force someone to say yes, in the hope that they won’t humiliate you in front of thousands of sports fans or all of your combined friends and family. Well, let me tell you something. If the person you’re publicly proposing to didn’t explicitly say that they want said public proposal and they then say no to you in front of everyone? You have humiliated yourself. Think about that before you go making those JumboTron plans, alright?

Who Is Turning Down Pre-Wedding Sex For Pineapples?

What is this? Really, what message are we supposed to be taking away about Tom (who has already fallen into the ocean while trying to set up the post-wedding getaway boat for Darcy) by watching him fuss over the pineapple-based reception centerpieces as his bride-to-be is lounging alluringly on the bed and giving him all kinds of come-hithers? That he’s goofy? Oh, OK, well then…message received.

Of Course Jennifer Coolidge Leads To My First Big Laugh

Jennifer Coolidge is great as characters who are well-meaning but sorta clueless, and Tom’s mom, Carol, is no different. When she comes strolling into the bridal suite unannounced just so her son can make up a welcome bag for the newly (and surprisingly) arrived Sean (Darcy’s ex-fiancé), and then quietly says to her kid, “Tommy, she’s not wearing any pants,” which causes Tom to throw the tray with welcome goodies down with a crash, I definitely LOL’d. God love Coolidge and Carol; she’s a joy through the whole movie.

Oh, excuse me. A baby pink and black tuxedo? Where do you think you’re going, sir? A prom in 1983? The Met Gala? I totally believe that this is what every fussy, ex-baseball player wants to wear to his wedding. Why, though, is another issue that I really need a whole different article to work through.

This Is The Perfect Wedding Dress For An Adventure Comedy

It’s pretty, flimsy, nearly impossible to run easily in, and has lots of easy to shed layers/parts so that we end up with Darcy in something that just barely resembles clothing. I expected nothing less.

There Are Some Brutal Kills In This Movie

I fully expected some of these pirates to die, but I wasn’t quite thinking that the kills would be so brutal. We got three deaths by grenade explosion, one got kicked out of a very high helicopter, two died by the very same vehicle crashing, and Sean’s dumb schemer neglected to let go of his parasail before getting pulled into the whirling rotor of the copter, so he was chopped to bits. Even the first, accidental, death led to a growing pool of blood from a head wound. Shotgun Wedding ain’t playing, y’all.

I Don’t Know That I’d Be Able To Marry Tom After He Accepted Pirate Island As A Wedding Venue

When Darcy found out that Tom knew this island resort had a problem with pirates, and still thought it was a good idea to hold their wedding there, she was understandably pissed. But, she still married him just a few hours later. I couldn’t have done it, you guys. Maybe in like, a month, but not the same day me, my family, and friends almost died. No way!

Tom’s Kinda Goofy. How Did He Manage To Figure Out The Plan So Fast?

Tom clearly shares several traits with Carol, because I do think his heart is in the right place, while he just doesn’t think enough stuff through. So, how did he manage to put together Sean’s plot to steal money from Darcy’s dad so fast? I simply don’t believe he’s quick enough to connect those dots before the situation got way worse, the poor thing.

I Think I Need A Whole Movie Where Jennifer Coolidge Gets To Fire Automatic Weapons

The White Lotus cast member has already admitted to being “thrilled” that she got to be part of a rom-com shootout, so let’s just go all the way and have her play a gun-toting assassin or heavily-armed, revenge-seeking school teacher or something. Are you listening, Hollywood? Make it happen!

Everyone Is Still Up For A WEDDING After All Of This?!

They were all held hostage and had their lives threatened for hours, as Darcy and Tom fled through the jungle trying to save everyone. They should all be beyond exhausted, and yet, by dusk, they’re finally enjoying the couple’s beach ceremony. HOW?! How is anyone chill enough about being held captive at gunpoint to sit through a wedding?! I know, for a fact, that several of their guests would have soiled themselves thoroughly and possibly multiple times during the day, but everyone is still in their pre-kidnapping wedding clothes. No one needed/wanted so much as a shower after all of that? Give. Me. A. GIANT. Break!

At the same time, I’m glad that Darcy and Tom were able to put their relationship problems behind them and help all of their guests survive so that they could have what she wanted all along: a non-traditional wedding ceremony. Congrats to the happy fictional couple!

Jennifer Coolidge is having a huge Hollywood moment right now on the heels of her success from starring in The White Lotus, recently taking home a Golden Globe and starring alongside Jennifer Lopez in the new comedy Shotgun Wedding. However, the real ones remember her hilarious role as the stepmother to Hilary Duff’s Sam in 2004’s A Cinderella Story. Obviously, Duff remembers it too and shared her most memorable moment working with the actress as a teen. 

Hilary Duff was asked by a fan about her experience working alongside Jennifer Coolidge in her Disney pop star days. Here’s what she recalled: 

Duff shared her memories from the set of A Cinderella Story during an appearance on Watch Happens Live With Andy Cohen. While she was a guest on the show, she also said that Jennifer Coolidge has “always” been a lovely human being, and she’s “really proud” of her former co-star as she’s been recognized for her beloved role in The White Lotus in awards season, and she's picked up more roles than ever. Duff also spoke about how Coolidge’s comeback story has reminded her that “anything can happen at any stage” in Hollywood.

A Cinderella Story was a memorable movie for early ‘00s kids, especially those who were following Hilary Duff’s career during her Lizzie McGuire fame. Duff was just 16 when the modern spin on a classic fairytale, also starring Chad Michael Murray and Regina King, came out. Duff and Coolidge were also in the same movie again in the 2010’s rom-com Beauty & the Briefcase, but Coolidge’s role was brief. 

Jennifer Coolidge’s career in Hollywood goes back to the ‘90s, finding early success in movies like American Pie and Best In Show. The actress has been consistently working over the years, but these past few have seen her consistently taking major roles, including the Netflix series The Watcher. Coolidge recently spoke to her longtime presence in the industry through a story about her favorite wedding being Billie Eilish’s parents' big day.

She’s once again returned to the genre with Jason Moore’s Shotgun Wedding (see the reviews here), which has a uniquely action-heavy twist. JLo leads an all-star cast, which includes recent Emmy winner Jennifer Coolidge as the gun-wielding mother of the groom (Josh Duhamel). And the cast of Shotgun Wedding spoke to CinemaBlend about the soggy struggles of shooting in a pool for weeks at a time.

The action of Shotgun Wedding comes in when an armed group of pirates take over a destination wedding, taking the guests hostage. They’re kept in an infinity pool during this time, with most of the cast spending the majority of the movie fully dressed, and wet from the torso down. As you can see in the video above, I had the joy of speaking with the cast of Shotgun Wedding prior to its release, where they shared what it was during those long, grueling hours. Jennifer Coolidge started things off in a positive light, saying:

Indeed, the cast of Shotgun Wedding seems to have great chemistry. And given the close (wet) proximity of the star-filled cast, having good people was no doubt key to its success. So while they spent a great deal of time wet in a pool, it sounds like the ensemble was able to have a good time. What’s more, they each get their time to shine throughout the movie’s runtime.

Actor Steve Coulter plays Jennifer Coolidge’s husband Larry in Shotgun Wedding, and I had the privilege of speaking with him two different times about his experience working on the wild rom-com. He got got into the reality of spending so much time in that same pool, saying:

While being trapped at a resort pool sounds like a dream for many, the reality of actually filming so much of Shotgun Wedding there is another thing entirely. Especially since it wasn’t being filtered, and the cast was in full hair, makeup, and sunscreen. But this makes a great deal of sense, as the filter would no doubt mess up the movie’s sound.

Another standout performer in Shotgun Wedding is The Good Place’s D’Arcy Carden, who plays the younger girlfriend of JLo’s father (Cheech Marin). She also acknowledged how beautiful the shooting location for the movie was, while sharing just how long they all spent in that damn pool:

In the end these soggy efforts were worth it, as the ensemble pool scenes in Shotgun Wedding feature some of the funniest moments of the entire movie. And being able to see the reaction of so many characters (played by familiar faces) helps to keep the already well paced rom-com buoyed. Pun intended.

Josh Duhamel

Josh Duhamel takes on the second leading role in the comedy as Darcy’s fiancé, Tom, a spot the Las Vegas star took on following the departure of Armie Hammer.

Sonia Braga (Renata)

Sonia Braga shows up in Shotgun Wedding as Renata, the extremely opinionated mother of the bride.

Throughout her career, Braga has given decorated performances in movies like Kiss of the Spider Woman, Moon over Parador, Wonder, and multiple others dating back to the late 1960s. She has also appeared on shows like Sex and the City, Law & Order, Brothers and Sisters, and Luke Cage, to name only a few. 

Cheech Marin (Robert)

Comedy legend Cheech Marin appears in Shotgun Wedding as Darcy’s father, Robert.

One of the most recognizable faces and voices in show business the past 50 years, Marin became an international sensation with his Cheech & Chong comedy act alongside Tommy Chong, which would produce movies like Up in Smoke and Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie, as well as multiple albums and specials. Over the years, Marin has also landed roles in movies like From Dusk Till Dawn, Tin Cup, Machete, and various animated movies, including The Lion King and Coco. He was also a longtime star of Don Johnson’s CBS police procedural, Nash Bridges. 

Selena Tan (Marge)

Next up is Selena Tan, who shows up in the cast as Marge, the manager of the resort where the wedding, and kidnapping, goes down.

Though most of her career has been spent producing and starring in Singaporean movies and plays like Rogue Trader, Gone Shopping, and productions by her Dim Sum Dollies cabaret act, international audiences will surely recognize Tan from her brief performance in another beautiful wedding movie, 2018’s Crazy Rich Asians. 

D’Arcy Carden (Harriet)

D’Arcy Carden has been in a little bit of everything lately, and that includes Shotgun Wedding, in which she plays Darcy’s new step-mom, Harriet.

In the past few years, Carden has popped up in a long list of movies that includes The To Do List, Other People, Bombshell, and most recently, The People We Hate at the Wedding. However, she is best known from her work on the small screen, including great performances on The Good Place, Barry, Broad City, Poorly Drawn Lines, and A League of Their Own. 

Callie Hernandez (Jamie)

Taking on the role of Darcy’s sister, Jamie, in the cast is Callie Hernandez.

Over the course of the past decade, Hernandez has appeared in a variety of movies, including Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, the unnerving Blair Witch, La La Land, Alien: Covenant, and Under the Silver Lake. During that same stretch of time, Hernandez has landed roles on shows like From Dusk till Dawn: The Series, Graves, Soundtrack, and The Flight Attendant. 

Desmin Borges (Ricky)

Desmin Borges shows up in Shotgun Wedding as Ricky, Tom’s longtime best friend.

Fans of the FXX comedy series, You’re the Worst, will surely recognize Borges from his portrayal of Edgar Quintero throughout the show’s five-season run. During his career, Borges has also appeared on shows like The Time Traveler’s Wife, Utopia, and Next Caller, as well as in movies like Compliance, Tower Heist, and Mr. Popper’s Penguins, to name a few. 

Steve Coulter (Larry)

Taking on the role of the father-of-the-groom, Larry, is Steve Coulter.

A prolific TV actor whose credits include everything from classic shows like In the Heat of the Night to more modern standouts like She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Atlanta, Coulter has continued to prove himself as one of the hardest working names in the medium. His film credits are just as impressive, with titles like The Founder, First Man, A Time to Kill, Flight, and Furious 7, to name a few. 

Lenny Kravitz (Sean)

And last, but certainly not least, is Lenny Kravitz, who appears as Darcy’s ex, Sean.

Though known more for his hit tracks like “Fly Away,” “American Woman,” and “It Ain’t Over ‘till It’s Over,” the talented musician has also appeared in his fair share of movies over the years, including Precious, The Hunger Games, and The Butler. After Jennifer Coolidge previously found fame for early ‘00s movies like Best In Show and Legally Blonde, the actress finds herself being one of the most viral actresses at the moment, between lots of amazing Golden Globes moments, wanting to play a dolphin and recently joining TikTok. Coolidge is such a fun presence that we could hear her answer questions and tell stories all day. In one recent story of hers, she revealed a longstanding connection she’s had with Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas. 

While promoting her latest movie, Shotgun Wedding, streaming now with an Amazon Prime subscription, Jennifer Coolidge was asked about the best wedding she’s ever been to. Check out what she said: 

Both Billie Eilish and Finneas' parents have backgrounds in acting, so somehow they ended up in the same circles as Jennifer Coolidge back in the day. Coolidge shared that she was invited to their wedding, but it doesn’t sound like she knew them too well when she attended it. While speaking to Hits Radio, The White Lotus actress called the O’Connell’s wedding the “most fun” she’d ever had at a wedding, and it wasn’t this extravagant event either. 

Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell's parents are Maggie Baird and Patrick O’Connell. Baird has roots in performing on Broadway and acted in several movie and TV shows. The couple reportedly got married in 1995 and have been living in Los Angeles, California throughout their now-famous children’s upbringing. 

Billie Eilish and Finneas have been major names in the music industry in the past few years with their sister-brother duo songwriting, along with Eilish being a young fashion icon. The pair won Oscars for their James Bond theme “No Time To Die” last year and have been touring the world with her second studio album, Happier Than Ever, as of late. Coolidge, on the other hand, is part of wild gunfights in her latest role in Shotgun Wedding, streaming now. 

I do have to wonder if the O’Connells remember that Jennifer Coolidge was part of their wedding. I can just imagine Coolidge stopping Billie Eilish on a red carpet to share her memories of her parent’s wedding, and I really hope it happens. Either way, Coolidge’s description of the wedding sounds amazing and we’re just generally happy for The White Lotus star. 

Jennifer Lopez has been an A-list star for decades now, with a celebrated career as both an actress and global pop star. She’s been keeping super busy lately, while also making headlines for her marriage with Ben Affleck. Her new action/comedy Shotgun Wedding is coming to Amazon this weekend, which features a killer ensemble cast. And JLo’s co-stars recently spoke to CinemaBlend about working with her as both an actor and producer.

The Selena icon was super involved in Shotgun Wedding, playing one of the protagonists opposite Josh Duhamel and also serving as a producer. As you can see in the video above, I had the privilege of speaking with the cast of Shotgun Wedding ahead of its release, where I asked what it was like working with Jennifer Lopez in her dual roles. They all gushed about the experience, with (surprise action star?) Jennifer Coolidge, who recently won an Emmy for White Lotus, telling me:

I don’t think anyone can doubt that. On top of being an ageless fashion icon, Jennifer Lopez is known for keeping super busy. Case in point: her recent deal with Netflix, performing at the Super Bowl, and releasing Marry Me and Shotgun Wedding in quick succession on two different streaming services. And that hustle (no pun intended) hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Of course, Jennifer Coolidge wasn’t the only one impressed by how Jennifer Lopez was able to wear so many hats in Shotgun Wedding (read the reviews here). After all, she was the lead character and had to get involved in a number of wild action sequences in addition to her role as a producer. The truly iconic Cheech Marin also spoke to me about his experience working with JLo, saying:

Another solid point. While Jennifer Lopez accomplishing all that she did during Shotgun Wedding’s production is impressive enough, she did it while creating a warm environment for the rest of the movie’s cast and crew. It would have been understandable if she had a bad day or two, but it sounds like she was super kind in the midst of her busy schedule. 

The Good Place and A League of Their Own actress D’Arcy Carden plays Harriet in Shotgun Wedding, the younger girlfriend of JLo’s father. She was similarly impressed with Jennifer Lopez as a person, but also spoke about the experience of seeing her acting chops up close and personal. She told me:

Having seen Shotgun Wedding early, I can’t deny D’Arcy Carden’s impression of Jennifer Lopez. The camera truly loves her throughout the action/comedy flick, and her timing and physical comedy are truly at an all-time high. As Carden put it, she’s a classic movie star in every sense of the word. 

Luckily, moviegoers won’t have to wait too long before seeing Jennifer Lopez and the rest of the cast of Shotgun Wedding, as it’ll be released on Amazon Prime this weekend. And given Lopez’s production deal with Netflix, there should be plenty of more content coming to the streaming world moving forward. Some of which she’ll star in, while others will be from her production company Nuyorican Productions.

This video came out three days ago and she already has 1.7 million likes with 838,000 followers. If The White Lotus helped her popularity with today’s generation, TikTok will blow up her fan following.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably noticed that noted character actress Jennifer Coolidge is having a bit of a moment right now. This is largely thanks to her acclaimed performance in Mike White’s The White Lotus, which has earned her countless awards including an Emmy and Golden Globe. Those fans who are eager to see more of her comedic chops won’t have to wait long, as she’s got a supporting role in Jennifer Lopez’s new movie Shotgun Wedding. And she recently spoke to CinemaBlend about being “thrilled” to be training for the movie’s wild gunfights.

While Shotgun Wedding is led by JLo and Josh Duhamel (who replaced Armie Hammer after those allegations came to light), it is ultimately an ensemble project. The supporting characters get plenty of time to chew the scenery, including Jennifer Coolidge as Carol– the mother of the groom. As you can see in the above video, I had the privilege of speaking with the truly iconic film and TV star ahead of Shotgun Wedding’s release on Amazon. When I asked about her big shoot scene (which was included in the trailer), she told me:

Well, there you have it. It looks like Jennifer Coolidge was all too happy to become an action star while filming Shotgun Wedding, which included being Lenny Kravitz’ neighbor. Although getting that epic shot took a ton of work on her part, and additional hours of work when the rest of the cast was done for the day. And given the recent tragedies that have happened on film sets, this type of close supervision is notable.

The timing of Shotgun Wedding’s release coming so shortly after the Season 2 finale of The White Lotus was something I couldn’t help but mention to Jennifer Coolidge during our conversation. That episode also saw Coolidge involved in a shoot-out, in an unforgettable sequence that inspired countless memes. 

Later during our same chat, Jennifer Coolidge spoke more about the extensive training that went into her big Shotgun Wedding machine gun sequence. She joked about feeling targeted over the additional hours, saying:

The White Lotus actress has another funny story to tell us as she had a room right across from musician Lenny Kravitz while filming her next movie Shotgun Wedding where she admits she “saw everything.”

The action romantic-comedy Shotgun Wedding took place in the Dominican Republic. Its actress Jennifer Coolidge had a great view where she was staying, and I’m not talking about the sunset. According to Entertainment Weekly, Coolidge told Access Hollywood about witnessing “everything” that went down having a room right across from Lenny Kravitz’s apartment. 

Looks like Lenny Kravitz has a new fan in Jennifer Coolidge! It’s only natural to want to know the man lair of a legendary musician who wowed audiences with songs like "Fly Away." Other than being a rock star, he’s shown off his acting chops such as when he was cast as the Capitol stylist Cinna in The Hunger Games movies. You’ll have the chance to see him on-screen again in Shotgun Wedding as Sean, the ex-boyfriend of Jennifer Lopez’s character. The film’s trailer also shows us an armed Jennifer Coolidge literally fighting to protect her family after being taken hostage by gunmen who invaded the destination wedding of her son and his fianceé. Here’s an interesting fact: the Emmy Award-winning actress is only 11 years older than Josh Duhamel, who plays her son. You’d never know based on what’s shown in the trailer, would you?

Jennifer Coolidge continued to talk about how she really enjoyed working with the entire cast in the Dominican Republic which, according to the comedic actress herself, is “a very sexy place to go to make a film.” The stars of this movie, Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel, were literally tied together so much throughout the movie and had a blast. Duhamel truly was the hero this movie needed after replacing controversial actor Armie Hammer. Duhamel felt it was “a dream” to work with Lopez and one of the most fun experiences he had making this movie. Any movie that allows you to venture into an exotic Caribbean location of beaches and deserts will always be filled with moments worth remembering.

The reviews for Shotgun Wedding have been pretty mixed. Positive reviews have praised the cast and the film’s comedic moments with Jennifer Coolidge being a real standout. Our own Corey Chichizola said in CinemaBlend’s review that its humor and great action are a nice start for our year of movies. However, other critics felt the movie was very “average” with underdeveloped characters and its best moments told in the trailer. This might be the type of movie where you watch it knowing it may not be the best movie of the year, but still entertaining, to say the least.

Jennifer Lopez long ago cemented her place in the world of romantic comedies, with some of her best rom-com movies including 2022’s Marry Me and The Wedding Planner, but she’s also found success in projects of other genres, including Hustlers and Enough. Her latest venture, Shotgun Wedding, seeks to combine some of her talents. The new comedy, which will stream on Amazon’s Prime Video, stars JLo and Josh Duhamel as a couple whose destination wedding gets threatened by more than cold feet and opinionated families. The reviews are in, so let’s see what critics have to say.

Shotgun Wedding hit a few bumps in the road en route to its upcoming January 27 release, namely the casting of Josh Duhamel to replace Armie Hammer as its lead amid Hammer’s cannibalism text controversy. Now the Transformers actor will be the one teaming up with JLo to save Tom and Darcy’s families from the armed wedding crashers holding them hostage. Let’s get to the feedback, starting with CinemaBlend’s review of Shotgun Wedding. Our own Corey Chichizola rates the movie 4 out of 5 stars, saying Duhamel’s late addition isn’t obvious, as he’s got great chemistry with Lopez, who gives her funniest performance yet. The review continues: 

Alex Maidy of JoBlo agrees, saying that it’s obvious that the cast and crew enjoyed themselves on set. The critic says Lenny Kravitz, Cheech Marin, D’Arcy Carden and others in supporting roles are great. He rates the film a “Good” 7 out of 10, basically saying come for the action-comedy, stay for Jennifer Coolidge wielding a machine gun: 

Many critics made mention of Jennifer Coolidge, who is hot off of her Golden Globe-winning performance on Season 2 of The White Lotus — even if not everyone was happy after her lengthy story at the awards. While Guy Lodge of Variety has issues with Shotgun Wedding overall, the critic says Coolidge does more than her share to make the jokes land. Lodge’s take: 

Ella Kemp of IndieWire also notes Jennifer Coolidge’s contribution to the movie, as well as leading lady Jennifer Lopez, but is less impressed with the “frustratingly average” overall product. The critic grades the film a C+, saying: 

Marya E. Gates of The Playlist, meanwhile, doesn’t find much upside to Shotgun Wedding, grading it a D and calling it an “interminable slog,” arguing that the characters are undeveloped and the only memorable moments are spoiled in the trailer. The critic continues:

I certainly believe that Jennifer Coolidge is the moment right now. With her chaotic and hilarious awards speeches -- which have included, but are not limited to, her mentioning Crocs and dancing to the music trying to play her off -- as well as her critically acclaimed performance on The White Lotus, all eyes are on her. Now, following her Critic’s Choice win, she has gone viral once again because she said she'd like to play a dolphin for her next role, and while many had great responses to this dream of Coolidge’s, Jennifer Garner 100% won with her reaction. 

While Coolidge dreams of playing a dolphin one day, Garner already has played the aquatic mammal. In 1998 the 13 Going on 30 star appeared in an episode of Fantasy Island as a character named Sally, who, rather than just being a mermaid, was a dolphin who turned into a woman. Due to her playing this role, Garner took to Instagram, to let Coolidge know her dream is possible, valid, and maybe someday they could both play dolphins. 

In the viral interview, Coolidge gleefully says that she’s always wanted to play a dolphin. So, Garner made sure to let her fellow actress named Jennifer know those roles exist. The video then shifts into a clip from Fantasy Island that shows Garner in the water, swimming around, saying it’s hard to pronounce her real name in English, and a man named Michael freaking out when he finds she is a dolphin. If you watched the clip, you’ll know I didn’t make any of that up, it did indeed happen and air on national television. 

While Fantasy Island isn’t one of Garner’s best projects, it sure is memorable. Also, because she posted it she won the best response to Coolidge’s wonderful dream, as many celebrities left comments on the post, noting just how funny it was.

For example, author and podcast host Jen Hatmaker commented: 

While Kristin Davis, who is best known as Charlotte on Sex and the City, realized she had gone up against Garner for the role back in the late ‘90s, commenting:    

A good number of the reactions included the cry-laughing emoji, even James Taylor felt the urge to comment the emoji after seeing the video. I must admit, I had the exact same reaction. 

This post also got me reflecting on the absolutely incredible presence Jennifer Garner has on social media. From showing off her new haircut and teaching fans how to style it, to adorably failing at a box jump in a workout video, Garner has such a great sense of humor and knows how to give her fans A+ content. 

Lucky for us, there will be more fabulous Jennifer Garner content coming soon on both Instagram and screens that are larger than a phone. That’s because she has a new series on the 2023 TV schedule called The Last Thing He Told Me, which will be available in April to those with an Apple TV+ subscription. While we wait for this show to premiere, let’s all hope that Garner and Coolidge say more on the dolphin front, and hopefully decide to do a silly-goofy project together where they play the sea fairing creatures. 

After the Golden Globe Awards didn't air on television in 2022, they were back on NBC in 2023 with Jerrod Carmichael as host. The first couple of awards were emotional, with Ke Huy Quan winning Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Everything Everywhere All At Once with a speech reflecting on how far he's come since starring in Temple of Doom and Angela Bassett making history with a Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture win for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Then the show got sillier when The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge took the stage for what turned out to more or less be a comedy monologue, but some viewers weren't happy about it as the show continued.

Jennifer Coolidge had the audience of celebrities and other industry pros in stitches at the Golden Globes, as she came onto the stage in her sparkling Dolce & Gabbana dress to present... after telling a long (and relatable) story about originally being nervous to present because she thought she'd trip and fall. She joked that it was suggested that she wear Crocs to avoid falling, and went into concerns about mispronouncing celeb names (shouting out Bill Nighy and Kaley Cuoco specifically). She had nearly four minutes before presenting the award for Best Supporting Actor in Musical-Comedy Or Drama Series to Abbott Elementary's Tyler James Williams, and everybody seemed to love it.

At the time, fan reactions on social media seemed positive to Coolidge getting the time to turn her ramble into something pretty hilarious; in the minutes that followed, however, some viewers took issue with how much time she got. When the Golden Globe for Best Song in a Motion Picture was awarded to M.M. Keeravani for "Vaatu Vaatu" in RRR, his speech was cut short and the music played him off, and he was just the first of several winners who were played off before they could finish their speeches. 

Now, it's of course not Jennifer Coolidge's fault that the music to play winners off started when it did, but some viewers took to Twitter to comment on her getting nearly four minutes as a presenter with winners being cut off. @AreyouthereZod posted after Keeravani was cut off:

In the wake of winners getting their speeches cut short, certain opinions about how funny the monologue actually was started to turn a lot more negative. @dani_marie21 didn't hold back with what they had to say:

The consensus among detractors seems to be more that Coolidge just had too much time, not that there was any problem with her getting some time to crack a few jokes at the Golden Globes. @simonsayssing wrote:

The prevailing opinion above all comes across as M.M. Keeravani simply deserving time to make his whole speech, especially given that this win shines a light on RRR as a project that not all viewers from home may have been aware of prior to the Golden Globes. @KelliWessels said:

None of this is to say that Jennifer Coolidge wasn't a hit with many, with some viewers suggesting that they're ready to hear the actress host their lives and get more time on screen. There's no denying that she got a lot of laughs, and Jerrod Carmichael was as excited as anybody when she walked out on stage. I definitely got a kick out of her listing ways that presenting could go wrong when she first took the stage.

In the wake of her character's shocking ending in The White Lotus Season 2, I think it's safe to say that – for better or worse – her speech will be one of the most memorable and talked-about moments from the 80th annual Golden Globe Awards! She even got a shout-out from Ryan Murphy in his speech later in the night, and would go on to win in the Best Supporting Actress in Limited Series, Anthology Series or TV Movie category.

The White Lotus Season 2 concluded at HBO, and boy, what an ending it was. Fans had to say goodbye to Jennifer Coolidge’s fan-favorite character Tanya McQuoid-Hunt after she met her end following a botched jump from a yacht to a smaller boat. Now, as fans continue to ask questions about Greg and his murderous plot, Coolidge might’ve let slip a key detail that could solve a mystery that fans have wondered about. 

Greg Hunt and Tanya McQuoid fell in love back in Season 1 after a chance meeting at The White Lotus located in Hawaii, but was that really a meeting of chance? Jennifer Coolidge spoke to Deadline about her character’s exit in Season 2, and when she was asked about what she’d like to see happen in Greg’s future, might’ve said a bit too much: 

When Jennifer Coolidge said “from the beginning,” was she referring to Season 1 or 2? Obviously, actors and actresses aren’t always privy to the full details of the story, but considering Coolidge also mentioned in the interview she knew from before Season 2 started filming she was going to die, one could speculate she knows a good deal. So, did Coolidge just unintentionally confirm Greg targeted her as far back as Season 1 of The White Lotus? 

There’s definitely been some suspicion from fans that Greg intentionally sought out Tanya McQuoid, and it makes sense the longer one thinks about it. The way he frequently bumped into her seemed like more than a coincidence, and in hindsight, it was odd he stayed with her after her big outburst in the hotel room. 

Let’s also not forget that Greg was hanging out on a boat with a bunch of guys when he wasn't with her during Season 1. While I’m not sure Quentin would take his yacht from Italy all the way to Hawaii, he could’ve been amongst the group Greg was partying with, given their connection. 

It would be great to know if The White Lotus intended for Greg to target Tanya from the start, as it might indicate Greg will appear once again in Season 3. Tanya and Greg were the sole carryover characters from Season 1, and while it might’ve been assumed Tanya was the vehicle that holds this whole story together as it's told, perhaps it’s actually Greg. 

Creator/showrunner Mike White teased that Season 3 could be set in Asia and would deal with Eastern death and spirituality. Perhaps Greg will now be tasked with scattering Tanya’s ashes after her death, or maybe he’s mourning the loss of Quentin? Either way, I’m certainly interested in some confirmation on whether or not Jennifer Coolidge accidentally revealed that Greg intentionally sought out Tanya in Season 1, because it’d make me want to bust out my HBO Max subscription and binge the series all over again. Honestly, I might just do that anyway because this series is just that good.  

The White Lotus will return to HBO for Season 3, though we’re not sure when it will release or even start filming. Luckily there’s still plenty to speculate on in the meantime, and plenty of Jennifer Coolidge movies and tv shows to watch for anyone sad that Tanya is gone forever.

But for a generation or two, she will always be Stifler’s mom from the American Pie franchise. The notorious MILF role didn’t just raise her Hollywood profile but improved her love life in tremendous ways. Fans already got a hint about her post-American Pie life, which went viral. Now the Legally Blonde alum finally addressed her viral sexual claims about how the teen comedy impacted her love life.

EW recently named the recent Emmy winner as one of its Entertainers of the Year. But rather than being interviewed by a staff writer, she fielded questions from celebrity superfan and multilalent Ariana Grande. Grande went viral earlier this year for her spot-on impression of Coolidge’s most iconic roles. After heaping nothing but praise on each other, the celeb superfan dived into the White Lotus breakout star’s decades-long career by asking about her favorite role. Coolidge enjoyed her recent roles but shouted out beloved comedies Best in Show and Legally Blonde in the process. Of course, the beloved character actress had to mention her role as Mrs. Stifler. Playing everyone’s favorite MILF helped more than her acting career as she explained how the film affected her personal life.

Coolidge seemed to enjoy her status as Stifler’s mom following the comedy classic, becoming a cultural phenomenon. The role opened her up to a young male demographic (legal age, of course). Oftentimes, a character’s reception can translate to real life for the actor. That was proven true for the character actress’ personal life. For millions of young men, they seemingly saw the Best in Show star as a desirable woman to connect with.

Of course, this wasn’t the first time Coolidge has opened up about the sex comedy’s impact on her sex life. She made a cheeky joke about the increased male attention she received post-American Pie in a viral Variety interview. After making headlines with her claims, Grande asked how much her sex life changed after the film. Coolidge started to go into detail about one escapade before the pop star cautioned her about giving out any details. The American Pie alum was relieved to finally clear up the air by saying:

The A Mighty Wind star recalled the teen comedy opening her up to “a much broader group of handsome men” especially men in the 18 to 21 demographics. She talked about an incident where she got hair salon recommendations from the mother of a younger man she had slept with.

Jennifer Coolidge is in the middle of a career renaissance following her turns in The White Lotus and the Netflix miniseries The Watcher. Her American Pie cast members aren't doing too badly either. That doesn’t mean Coolidge has backed away from movies as she'll be packing heat in the Jennifer Lopez rom-com Shotgun Wedding as seen in the explosive trailer. The action comedy will be available with an Amazon Prime Video subscription on January 27. 2023. In the meantime, revisit the Emmy winner’s time as Mrs. Stifler by renting/buying the American Pie films on the streamer.

Major spoilers below for The White Lotus’ Season 2 finale, so be warned if you haven’t yet taken the plunge.

Mike White delivered another masterful season of The White Lotus, filled with gorgeous settings and complicated relationships amongst the large ensemble, as well as a shocking death (or four) serving as narrative bookends. This time around, the HBO drama’s biggest seasonal connection met their demise, with Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya unwittingly causing her own death after single-handedly stopping Quentin & Co.’s murder plot. The finale, fittingly titled “Arrivederci,” also wrapped up several other overarching storylines, with Lucia proving herself to have used Albie for his money, while her supposed threat Alessio was revealed to be just another hotel worker. Scammers gonna scam, I guess. 

But for all the answers that were given, The White Lotus still left me with plenty of additional questions that don’t seem like they’ll be granted full clarity anytime soon. So while waiting for the next boat to come and pick us all up from this picturesque dock, let’s run down some of the biggest curiosities that were left unexplained.

Why Was The Plan To Kill Tanya So Ridiculously Complicated?

Throughout Season 2, White Lotus fans were 100% on top of the notion that Greg teamed with Quentin to somehow take possession of Tanya’s fortune, but what failed to come up often enough was the simple question of why Greg would go through all of this trouble and planning to kill her in lieu of literally anything simpler and less distant. It’d be easier to understand Quentin wining and dining Tanya if the point was to get her to consensually sign over part of her fortune in one way or another, but I can’t grasp why they spent so much time and money to take her out to the opera and whatnot if the point was just to kill her outright anyway. 

Seriously, why bring in the sexy hitman with all the party favors? Why get her all coked up and horny if neither the drug use nor the infidelity would be used to the gay mafia’s advantage? Are we to believe that Quentin, Matteo and others were truly so won over by Tanya that they wanted to give her a few last hurrahs before taking her out for good? Matteo’s tearful goodbye was perhaps partial proof of that, but still. It seems like a whole lot of flashy build-up for something that could have played out in the U.S.

Is Greg A Black Widower “Killer,” So To Speak?

Considering Greg remained absent after leaving Tayna in Italy, his story remains unclear beyond the bits of their marriage we were made privy to. As such, we don’t know if this was a one-time situation for Greg, or whether this is learned and patterned behavior. While I have to think his medical maladies were legitimate enough, since Tanya likely witnessed some of those procedures and check-ups, is it possible that Greg has been collecting and killing off wives (and possibly husbands) for years prior to Tanya? It’d certainly be one way for Quentin and his clan to keep up appearances without ever having to get official employment, though that would open up more questions about Greg and Quentin’s current relationship and where his sexual interests lie.

Was Jack Supposed To Kill Portia?

Jack’s finale behavior took a sharp turn away from the jovial, fun-loving lushiness he exuded in days prior, as Portia became more convinced she’d been intentionally separated from Tanya, and was in danger of spending her final hours inside Quentin’s Range Rover. (Assuming it was even his, of course.) Said danger grew more palpable once it came out she knew Jack and Quentin were banging each other, and it didn’t take a genius to realize he wasn’t actually driving her where he claimed. But in the end, he chose to let her go free with the dire warning not to return to the White Lotus, and not to bring more trouble on herself by talking about it with others. Which sorta makes it all the more strange that he DID let her go, since she definitely figured Tanya was going to die at that point. Maybe he just figured all her griping implied she didn’t care that much about her boss. 

Were Jack And Quentin Actually Related?

Weirdly enough, the jury is still out on this one, considering The White Lotus didn’t double down on either Yea or Nay here. Creator Mike White previously played coy when asked, and it seemed like the show was going to explain that relationship a little more. But no, that wasn’t meant to be. So I’m just going to assume/pretend that Jack’s mom married Quentin’s sibling, making them a sexually active uncle and nephew through marriage and not by blood.

Will Portia Ever Say Anything To The Cops (Or Anyone)?

Surely, it doesn’t seem likely that Portia will go blabbing about the previous night’s discoveries either during her trip back to the U.S., or soon after. But what about when she learns more about Greg’s potential involvement and more background details? Will she still choose to remain quiet once she finds out it was Quentin and others that Tanya killed, or will that embolden her to come forward? And to reiterate a point introduced a little earlier: does Portia give enough of a shit about Tanya’s posthumous existence to put forth the effort?

What Happened Between Cameron/Harper And Daphne/Ethan?

The White Lotus wisely, if somewhat frustratingly, gave viewers no concrete answers when it came to the potential sex-capades that went on between Season 2’s most horned-up and horned-down couples. When Ethan confronted Harper full on about it, she mirrored his earlier half-admission regarding the condom wrapper by offering up slightly more to the story, saying Cameron suggested they go back up to the room together, and that they kissed for a brief time just before Ethan had returned to the room. But Ethan didn’t believe that was all that happened, and Aubrey Plaza did a fantastic job of playing it right down the middle, without ever being too convincing or too untrustworthy. 

Fans were given even less information when it came to Ethan’s mid-day sojourn with Daphne, though there were literal waves of implications that they found ways to rectify their complicated feelings about Cameron and Harper, even if it wasn’t strictly all about rote intercourse. Whatever happened there, it was enough to convince Ethan that there are other ways for him to handle his issues with Harper that aren’t just anger and non-affection. Here’s what Mike White had to say about this one in the post-episode “Unpacking” feature:

So White doesn’t necessarily think that everyone went through with the least moral version of events, but isn’t confirming the most innocent take either.

Is Cameron Aware Of And Angry About His Kid(s) Having Another Father?

It was previously implied that Daphne’s trainer was the father of one or more of her children, and The White Lotus’ finale offered a secondary look at that likely scenario by showing Cameron flossing while both ignoring and getting frustrated with Daphne calling for him to greet the kids via video call. He could have been annoyed for any number of reasons, but it seemed like that moment was tipping its hat to the idea that Cameron spends every day knowing he’s raising another man’s biological child, with that likely being the daunting King piece on Daphne’s side of their twisted chess board.

For what it’s worth, Mike White also spoke to the idea that Cameron isn’t the kind of guy whose patterns are likely to change simply because it’s a good idea, so there’s always the possibility that some of the unspoken truths in his marriage will bubble up to the surface sooner rather than later. My dream for Season 5 is them both going to the same White Lotus as post-separation singles. 

Did Albie Actually Learn Anything?

I feel like Albie had the right idea in the first place by aiming for Portia, only for him to get dicked over by both of them in very different fashions, resulting in 50,000 euros being siphoned from his father, while Albie also further sold out his values by lying to his mom about Dom being on good behavior. And in the end, he just ended up with Portia’s number anyway, while also obviously now being far more in line with the older men in the family, libidinously speaking. So is he coming out of this a better person in any respect?

The White Lotus is over for now, but both seasons are available to stream again and again with an HBO Max subscription, and we know Season 3 is coming, even if we don’t yet know exactly what it’ll be about. 

Warning! The following contains spoilers for The White Lotus Season 2 episode “That’s Amore.” Read at your own risk!

There was a point when I questioned if The White Lotus Season 2’s cast would hold my attention better than another adventure with the Season 1 cast. I’m no longer questioning that after the latest episode, and am all-in on trying to figure out who those corpses are in the flash-forward. Now, a new theory has me super invested in what’s going on with Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya McQuoid and Tom Hollander’s Quentin. Unfortunately, this theory might mean bad things for Tanya are on the horizon, provided it pans out. 

TikTok user Lisa.Clift jumped on the platform to share her theory about The White Lotus, and man, it’s a doozy. The gist is that she’s suggesting that Quentin isn’t the friendly rich gay man Tanya just happened to meet while on vacation. This theory suggests that Quentin, Jack, and possibly others in his group were deliberately hired to kill Tanya. Here’s the kicker: the person responsible for this plot is Tanya’s husband Greg, and after hearing the evidence supporting it, I think it might be legit. 

The video points out that in Episode 2, Tanya said it was Greg’s idea that they take a vacation to Sicily after he told her he had to go back home. Greg mentioned during that conversation that because of their pre-nuptial agreement, he couldn’t stay in Sicily and needed to return home to keep his job just in case they don’t work out. Later, Tanya overheard Greg having a private conversation, which almost sounded like he was hiding an affair with another woman back in the United States. 

This theory suggests that Greg was actually talking to Quentin, and they’re in cahoots in a plot to kill Tanya so that Greg can inherit her fortune, though I'd question how that's possible with the pre-nuptial agreement unless Tanya destroyed it like she offered to before he left. It also alleges that Greg is the “American cowboy” Quentin told Tanya he fell in love with long ago when he lived in America and that it didn't work out because this cowboy was heterosexual. Quentin then added he’d still do anything for that cowboy to this day, which feels like a huge sign in my eyes that this theory might be true. 

If Greg did arrange for Quentin to kill Tanya, it would certainly help explain why Greg was so upset that Tanya's assistant Portia came on vacation with her without him knowing. Adding Portia to the mix would make it harder to get Tanya alone, and could mean that Quentin would have to arrange for Portia to disappear as well. 

Perhaps that’s why Jack is involved, as the latest episode made it seem like he wasn’t actually Quentin’s nephew. I mean, if he was, that explicit sex scene between them makes this situation super twisted, though it wouldn’t be the first HBO show to highlight incest. 

If this theory is true, it’s possible Jack was a last-minute addition to the plan to occupy Portia once Greg saw she was present as well. We’ll just have to wait and see, and hope that Tanya isn’t one of those dead corpses in the water! This theory is going to make the wait for the new episode to hit my HBO Max subscription pretty unbearable. 

The White Lotus airs on HBO on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET. Anyone hoping for more clues on where things are headed might want to pay attention to the intro, as there are apparently some teases for what’s to come if you look into it. 

Spoiler alert! This story discusses a major twist from The White Lotus’ November 27 episode, “That’s Amore.” Make sure you’re caught up before you keep reading.

The current ensemble of White Lotus guests are nearing the end of their weeklong Italian vacation, and it’s hard to say if we the viewers are any closer to determining the identity of Season 2’s mystery corpse. The White Lotus did, however, provide a huge plot twist for Quentin and his "nephew" Jack, who have befriended Tanya McQuoid (the lone returning character from Season 1) and her assistant Portia. With the bare-backed twist, however, comes one big obvious question, and creator Mike White seemed content to play it coy with his response.

“That’s Amore” saw Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya joining Quentin (Tom Hollander) and his entourage at his Italian villa for a couple of days, with Portia (Haley Lu Richardson), of course, in tow (and Leo Woodall's Jack in Portia). Of all the directions this story could have gone, I don’t think many expected that jaw-dropping ending, when Tanya went to investigate some strange noises and walked in on Quentin having sex with Jack. Mike White spoke with Variety about the episode, and in regards to the question we all are asking — Are Quentin and Jack really related?! — White simply teased: 

There’s been an air of foreboding surrounding this story on The White Lotus Season 2 (of course, that’s the case for pretty much every plotline), in regards to whether Tanya’s new friend has an ulterior motive for inviting the rich and clueless traveler to join their festivities. The same could also be said for Jack, especially after Quentin’s musings that it was good it was for his nephew (?) to be able to hang out with Portia, rather than be stuck around all of the older men. And it's now more safe to assume he also meant stuck inside the older men. 

As well as learning exactly what Quentin and Jack's relationship entails, it remains to be seen how Portia will react to the news that her Sicilian fling is actually also flinging Uncle Sugardaddy — and that’s assuming that Tanya even spills the beans. Mike White couldn’t hide his pleasure over how “dirty” the whole vibe was, and how the carnal nature of the transgression made the big reveal all the more titillating. In his words:

It was powerful, to be sure. Incestuous? We'll have to wait and see, though if past HBO shows such as Game of Thrones, Six Feet Under, House of the Dragon and Boardwalk Empire (among others) are any indication... Either way, it was a huge cliffhanger to lead us into the penultimate episode of the Emmy-winning anthology’s second season. 

Also, given that we know the opening credits hint at the stories to come, Is it possible this was foreshadowed? Tom Hollander’s name appears in the credits over two men, as a woman near them walks away, while Leo Woodall’s name is shown next to a man standing over another, with his foot precariously between his legs. What does it all mean?

HBO has always been a hub for quality TV, and Mike White's acclaimed comedy The White Lotus is no exception. The anthology series recently returned for Season 2 (with a killer new opening credits) for those with an HBO Max subscription. The show features mostly a new cast, but brought back the truly iconic Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya McQuoid. She won an Emmy for her role in Season 1, but there are a few more White Lotus characters I'd like to see return in a similar fashion. Yes, I'm basically hoping for a White Lotus cinematic universe, can you blame me?

Since the White Lotus hotels are a 5-star franchise that are seemingly all over the world, there's a seemingly endless pool of talent and locations for Mike White (who is a Survivor alum) to pull from for future installments. And while I wanted Jennifer Coolidge to continue starring as Tonya (possibly alongside Jon Gries' Greg Hunt) I wouldn't hate seeing some other familiar faces in future seasons. And now that the mystery of Season 2 has been solved, I'm especially curious to see if anyone else returns. Let's break it all down.

Lani (Jolene Purdy)

The very first episode of The White Lotus gave a ton of focus to Jolene Purdy's character Lani, who was a new employee working alongside Murray Barlett's Armond. Throughout that wild first adventure through the comedy series, we learn that Lani is hiding a pregnancy, taking the job at the hotel for the medical benefits. And the episode ends with her giving birth in Armond's office, in a truly iconic and bonkers set of events.

Unfortunately, we never got to find out what happened to Lani. The character never returned to The White Lotus during Season 1, which was a major bummer-- especially given the charming performance given by Jolene Purdy. But maybe we could see her return if Lani got transfered to another location? 

Dominic Di Grasso (Michael Imperioli)

Part of what makes The White Lotus such a great show is the stellar ensemble cast that Mike White has managed to assemble for both of its seasons so far. Season 2 definitely didn't drop the ball in that regard. Case in point: The Sopranos and Goodfellas icon Michael Imperioli as Hollywood producer Dominic Di Grasso. 

Throughout Season 2 of The White Lotus, it's clear that Imperioli is a truly unbelievable actor. The Sopranos alum provided an intriguing performance for a troubled, complex man. And I personally would love to see him return in a future installment of the burgeoning anthology franchise. Especially after totally being right about that 50k in the finale.

Kitty Patton (Molly Shannon)

It's well known that Molly Shannon is a bit of a muse for Mike White. The two have collaborated on a number of projects over the years, including his directorial debut Year of the Dog. So it was no surprise when she ended up appearing in the first season of The White Lotus as Kitty Patton. 

Kitty wasn't in every episode of the first season, and we had to wait and earn the chance to meet her character. But the SNL icon arrived and lit up the screen, perfectly portraying the show's commentary on privilege in the process. And since we saw so little of her, and she was a fan of the White Lotus property, maybe Shannon's Kitty could return in a future season.

Valentina (Sabrina Impacciatore) 

Another character from The White Lotus Season 2 who is really tickling me is Valentina, played by Italian actress/comedian Sabrina Impacciatore. She continues the trend of surly managers of the hotel, picking up where Murray Barlett's Amond left off in Season 1. Since the first episode we knew she wasn't a dead body on the beach, it seems like she could easily return in a future installment of the HBO comedy series.

Throughout the second season we've seen Valentina admonish her coworkers, feud with guests and locals alike, and unintentionally offend the folks staying in the five-star hotel. Plus she was able to find herself and discover her sexuality a queer woman. And I'd love to see her back in another location of the hotel franchise, which could allow her to logically return. It remains to be seen if any of the other actors will get the Jennifer Coolidge treatment, but one can dream. Considering Tanya's fate in the finale I'm very curious to see of Mike White will bring anyone back.

The White Lotus surprised HBO viewers last year with its smart and satirical take on privilege, unraveling the mystery of who among the resort’s guests (or staff) would wind up dead by the end of the lavish weeklong vacation. Now the Emmy-winning anthology series has returned for Season 2, with a different White Lotus resort, new guests and possibly multiple fatalities by the time we reach the finale. With the premiere, “Ciao,” viewers were introduced to the dark comedy's new ensemble and, even though the story has just begun, creator Mike White says the elaborate opening credit sequence provides hints of what’s to come in The White Lotus Season 2.

Mike White worked with Katrina Crawford and Mark Bashore from Plains of Yonder, a film studio and creative consultancy, on the credit sequence. They spoke to TV Insider about the clues that fans can pick up, with Crawford noting that the animals are a big throughline. Bashore added:  

Let’s take a look at some of the images from the opening credits and see what clues we might be able to pick up on: 

The dog lifting its leg, as mentioned in the above quote, is shown while Theo James’ name is on the screen. We learned in the premiere that his character, Cameron Babcock, may have ulterior motives for inviting Harper and Ethan to vacation with him and his wife. Will we see Cameron marking his territory in some way this season? He did already (unknowingly?) expose himself to Aubrey Plaza’s Harper in “Ciao.”  

Speaking of Aubrey Plaza, her name is shown next to an image of a bird pecking at the wings of another bird. Could this be a statement on the relationship between Harper and her husband? Or about Harper's outlook on the world in general?

Meghann Fahy’s Daphne is the only character who we're probably safe to say survives the week in Sicily, as she is the one who discovers the body floating in the water. Could Fahy’s name next to these cherubs point to her innocence, or is there something more?

Beloved TV and film actress Jennifer Coolidge is the only Season 1 character to reprise her role, as the great Tanya McQuoid arrives at the White Lotus. While we previously saw her grieving the death of her mother, now we see that she’s married to Greg Hunt (Jon Gries), who appears to be a real piece of shit. He makes constant comments about her weight while taking secret phone calls in the bathroom. I feel like the donkey breaking the fourth wall next to Gries’ name is trying to tell us something, particularly with the man and woman riding it somewhat mirroring the image (at top) of Tanya holding onto Greg as they ride their Vespa. 

We were also introduced to the Di Grosso family, with F. Murray Abraham’s Bert traveling with his son and grandson. It was well-established in the first episode that Bert likes to flirt, which is depicted next to the actor’s name in the title sequence, but who is that spying on them from around the corner?

Other images from the opening credits show part of a building engulfed in flames, a man falling backward down some stairs after being stabbed by a woman, and plenty of sex, including what appears to be a man being fellated and two rams doing their thing. Katrina Crawford said that as the season progresses, the meaning behind the things shown in the opening credits will make more sense, but it definitely looks like we’re in for another wild “week” of seaside drama. New episodes of The White Lotus air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and are available for streaming with an HBO Max subscription.

Not only is that the plot of the new Netflix original TV show, The Watcher, but the horrifying true experience of an American family in 2014.

From Ryan Murphy of American Horror Story fame and Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story creator Ian Brennan, this seven-episode limited series dramatizes the shocking and bizarre events that happened to the Broadusses after they moved into an idyllic New Jersey house that turned out to be the site of their worst nightmares. Bringing the story to life on screen is the star-studded, supremely talented The Watcher cast, including Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale. Learn about some of their greatest hits and that of their co-stars in our breakdown of the ensemble.

Naomi Watts

The Watcher is only the latest of many creepy titles in English actor Naomi Watts’ repertoire, many of which (excluding her David Lynch movies, like Mulholland Dr.) are remakes — including 2001’s The Ring, 2007’s Funny Games, 2005’s King Kong, and, most recently, Amazon’s English-language version of Goodnight Mommy in 2022. 

The two-time Academy Award nominee (for 2004’s 21 Grams and The Impossible in 2012) is known for plenty of comparatively lighthearted titles, too, such as the many biopics in her filmography (including 2003’s Ned Kelly or 2013’s Diana, in which she played the late princess) or the hilarious Best Picture Oscar winner, Birdman, from 2014.

Bobby Cannavale

Two-time Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale (for playing Vince on Will & Grace and Gyp Rosetti on Boardwalk Empire) previously worked with his onscreen wife from The Watcher, Naomi Watts, a few times (namely in Movie 43 and, more recently, 2021’s This is the Night), yet is not known for as many particularly creepy titles. 

He is part of the MCU, though, after appearing in two Ant-Man movies and, even then, was still cast in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman — one of a few other Netflix originals he is also known for. Highlights of his versatile filmography also include 2013’s Blue Jasmine, star and director Jon Favreau’s Chef from the following year, and leading HBO’s short-lived music history drama, Vinyl.

Jennifer Coolidge

Playing a local realtor, we have Jennifer Coolidge, who recently won an Emmy for her performance in HBO’s The White Lotus cast after nearly 30 years of memorable small screen appearances that include her starring roles on 2 Broke Girls and The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and a guest spot on Seinfeld that marked her TV debut. 

However, she is even better known for big screen titles like David Guest’s improvisational mockumentaries (such as Best in Show), being in the American Pie cast as Stifler’s Mom, the Legally Blonde movies as Paulette Parcelle, and A Cinderella Story as Hilary Duff’s evil stepmother.

Mia Farrow

A The Watcher cast member who is certainly no stranger to creepy titles is Rosemary’s Baby star Mia Farrow, who would go on to star in other thrillers like The Haunting of Julia before playing Daisy Buchanan in 1974’s The Great Gatsby, Jacqueline De Bellefort in 1978’s Death on the Nile, and a Kryptonian named Alura in the 1983 Supergirl movie, to name a few. She is also known for several Woody Allen movies (including The Purple Rose of Cairo and Hannah and Her Sisters), the 2006 remake of The Omen, and Michel Gondry’s Be Kind Rewind. 

Margo Martindale

Three-time Emmy winner Margo Martindale (one for her recurring role in the Justified cast and two for The Americans) made her feature film debut in 1990’s Days of Thunder, starred in The Rocketeer the following year, and continued to earn roles in acclaimed films like 1995’s Dead Man Walking, 2002’s The Hours, and 2018’s Instant Family to name a small, but notable, few. Her other best-known small screen credits include a recurring spot on Bojack Horseman as herself, FX’s historical miniseries Mrs. America, and Showtime’s Your Honor cast, more recently.

Terry Kinney

Terry Kinney previously worked with Margo Martindale in The Firm in 1993 — the same year he starred in Abel Ferrara’s Body Snatchers and the year after he appeared in Michael Mann’s The Last of the Mohicans. This only describes a small portion of his notable filmography, which also includes acclaimed TV series like Thirtysomething in the late 1980s, HBO’s harrowing prison-set drama, Oz (which also featured Bobby Cannavale in a small role), Showtime’s Billions, and another fact-based Netflix original miniseries called Inventing Anna.

Joe Mantello

The Watcher marks Joe Mantello’s fifth collaboration with The Watcher co-creator Ryan Murphy following the 2014, Emmy-winning HBO movie, The Normal Heart (which Murphy directed), Netflix movie The Boys in the Band (which Mantello directed and Murphy produced), another Netflix miniseries called Hollywood (which Murphy co-created and Mantello starred in), and a role on American Horror Story Season 11 this year. The Broadway star made his screen debut in the 1989 movie, Cookie, and made his theatrically-released directorial debut with 1997’s Love! Valour! Compassion!

Richard Kind

Another Broadway-based actor in The Watcher cast is Richard Kind, whose best-known roles are, mainly, of the comedic variety — such as Paul Lassiter in the Spin City cast, the various characters he has voiced in Pixar movies like Inside Out, Marty Glouberman in Netflix’s Big Mouth cast, and recurring spots on hit sitcoms like Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Goldbergs. His more dramatic work includes Oscar darlings like Argo, 2019’s Bombshell (in which he played Rudy Giuliani), and the 2021 Netflix original tick, tick… BOOM!

Noma Dumezweni

British actress Noma Dumezweni made her feature-length film debut in director Stephen Frears’ 2002 crime thriller, Dirty Pretty Things, and her most notable cinematic credits from later include 2018’s Mary Poppins Returns, the 2019 fantasy The Kid Who Would Be King, and Netflix’s biographical drama, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, from the same year. Audiences may also recognize her from the small screen as Capt. Magambo on Doctor Who, the 2018 miniseries Black Earth Rising, an episode of Hulu’s Normal People, HBO’s The Undoing cast, HBO Max’s Made for Love cast, and FX’s Pose — her last collaboration with Ryan Murphy. 

Christopher McDonald

Emmy nominee Christopher McDonald (for his recurring role on HBO Max’s Hacks), is best known for playing unscrupulous jerks in classic ‘90s comedies like the John Hughes-penned Dutch, Happy Gilmore (also one of Adam Sandler’s best movies), Dirty Work (a cult favorite starring Norm Macdonald), and the animated sci-fi classic The Iron Giant in 1999. He also has a few credits in common with his fellow The Watcher cast members (such as Boardwalk Empire), previously worked with Ryan Murphy on Impeachment: American Crime Story, and is about to join the MCU as part of the Secret Invasion cast in an undisclosed role.

Michael Nouri

Fellow American Crime Story vet (of the second season from 2018) Michael Nouri has starred in some great ‘80s movies of both the iconic (dance drama Flashdance) and underrated variety (sci-fi thriller The Hidden) and also worked with Steven Spielberg for 2004’s The Terminal and appeared in the beloved rom-com, The Proposal, in 2009. He also has a Marvel movie under his belt (1990’s straight-to-video Captain America) but, as a TV star, he is known for soap operas like The Young and the Restless and All My Children, and recurring roles on dramas like Damages, NCIS, and Yellowstone.

Isabel Gravitt

Before joining Netflix’s The Watcher cast, Isabel Gravitt had experience portraying people involved in a suburban nightmare by starring in the 2018 horror flick, Cucuy: The Boogeyman, and the Hulu original miniseries, Little Fires Everywhere. Before then, she had a recurring role on the hit ABC sitcom, American Housewife, and played a younger version of actress Ksenia Solo’s central character in the 2017 drama, In Search of Fellini.

Henry Hunter Hall

Henry Hunter Hall debuted in 1997’s Gridlock’d — directed by his father, Vondie Curtis-Hall, who later cast him in his 2006 crime thriller, Waist Deep, and later acted alongside him the 2013 holiday movie, Black Nativity, and 2019’s Oscar-nominated biographical drama, Harriet, which his mother, Kasi Lemmons, directed. After making a brief, uncredited appearance in the quasi-true-crime-documentary American Animals in 2017, he appeared in two episodes of Netflix’s Emmy-winning, fact-based miniseries, When They See Us, in 2019 and, in 2020, joined the cast of the Amazon Prime original period action drama, Hunters.

Luke David Blumm

After making his acting debut on an episode of The Walking Dead in 2019 and following that with an episode of HBO’s Watchmen the same year, Luke David Blumm had a recurring role on Season 3 of The Sinner in 2020 and, that same year, starred in one of the best Pete Davidson movies, The King of Staten Island. He played the focus of the 2021 horror flick, Son, before later appearing in the Amazon Prime original rom-com, I Want You Back, and 2022’s adaptation of Where the Crawdads Sing as a younger version of Taylor John Smith’s character, Tate.

A cast like this should make it easy to decide if you will watch The Watcher. Stream the intense miniseries on Netflix now.

If you were to put the best movies about college and some classic courtroom dramas together in a Venn diagram, appearing in the middle would be Legally Blonde. Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and later the basis for a hit stage musical, the story of Elle Woods' rise from popular sorority beauty queen to successful Harvard Law scholar is an inspirational one, especially for anyone who ever struggled with discovering themselves beyond face value.

Director Robert Luketic's feature film debut is also one of the best Reese Witherspoon movies and boasts a career-defining performance (before her Oscar win for Walk the Line) that is complemented by a wonderful supporting ensemble  including Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, and more we hope to see in the upcoming third installment of the franchise. For now, let's check in on the Legally Blonde cast by sifting through this slideshow featuring some of their more recent photos.  

It may never be too early to look at the 2023 new movie releases, but as this current year continues to march on, our gaze to the future continues to grow. Even if awards season hasn’t arrived just yet, and the festivals are kicking off, it’s good to take a peek at what might entertain us all during the later part of 2022 and early 2023. 

If the trailer for Jennifer Lopez’s Prime Video rom-com Shotgun Wedding is any indication, next year’s going to kick off rather explosively. Not content to cover a simple exchanging of vows, director Jason Moore and writer Mark Hammer have thrown a lot of R-rated action into the mix of this charming comedy. 

What starts like any other big day turns into a hostage situation, as Darcy (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom (Josh Duhamel) find their "I Do's" under siege by tons of armed baddies. Live hand grenades become an issue, as does the ever tearing dress of the bride, and her debates on counterterrorist strategies with her husband to be. But perhaps the most lethal component of Shotgun Wedding is Emmy award winner/national treasure Jennifer Coolidge rocking a machine gun, in the name of defeating evil. 

Awkwardness still finds its way into this pretty rough and tumble rendezvous. That’s where Lenny Kravitz’s slick looking Sean comes into play, as he’s been invited to the wedding by a very special party: his ex-girlfriend, Darcy. Though Tom really shouldn’t be worrying too much about this whole scenario, because if this character is anything like the real Kravitz, a Jason Momoa-style bromance  might not be far off.

So far, teaming up Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel really looks like it’s working in Shotgun Wedding’s favor. The Transformers franchise actor has highly praised Lopez’s work on the set, which goes a long way to explaining the sterling chemistry between the two actors. One still has to wonder if the same would have been true if Armie Hammer hadn’t dropped out, which allowed Duhamel to swoop in and save the day. 

It sounds like Shotgun Wedding has a good balance of your typical rom-com fluff, with an R-rated sensibility that includes swear words that need to be cut off or dubbed over in order to produce a green-band trailer. (Read Jennifer Lopez's lips as she proclaims how she "freaking" loves that cake knife, and you'll see what I'm talking about.) Firepower and fireworks will collide as this movie throws the action packed destination wedding you’ve been dreaming of attending on January 27, 2023. 

All you'll need to RSVP is a Prime Video subscription, since that will be the exclusive home for this rom-com. And if you’re like us and want to find the best Jennifer Coolidge movies/TV shows, you might need to consult a couple more streaming services to answer that specific call.

When I think of some of the funniest actresses, one who always comes to mind instantly is Jennifer Coolidge. While I didn’t know it as a child, Coolidge was honestly one of the foundations of my movie-loving self, because she was featured in several films that I loved back then and still love just as much now, and only as an adult have I come to adore how amazing she is in both comedic and dramatic roles. 

From her time on some hilarious TV shows to my favorite movies, there are great projects that feature Jennifer Coolidge that I’m sure you (and I) would love to watch repeatedly. The American Pie Films (1999-2012)

Arguably one of the best known comedy franchises in America (or maybe even the world) is American Pie, and that all started with the first back in 1999. The film is the story of four boys who made a pact, the ultimate one for all high schoolers everywhere - to lose their virginity before school ends for the year. However, things don’t go as planned. 

The American Pie cast features so many amazing stars, from Jason Biggs to Tara Reid to Nataha Lyonne, but no one - and I mean no one - beats Jennifer Coolidge as Stifler’s Mom. Watching this movie, she is legit the definition of ‘MILF,’ and is straight-up one of the people I remember the most from this movie, because she was just so dang funny. Truly, one of her best comedic takes and I was so happy when she came back for the sequels later on.

Best In Show (2000)

Be prepared to see a few Christopher Guest films on this list, as Jennifer Coolidge was often featured in them. First off, we start with Best in Show, a mockumentary that shows the life of five dog trainers and their journey to get to a prestigious dog show. 

Fun fact - a lot of the movie’s dialogue was actually improvised, but to be honest, with a cast like this, improvisation probably comes easy for these comedic legends. Not only did Jennifer Coolidge rock it in her role as Sheri Ann Cabot, she had plenty of other amazing co-stars that made this film that much funnier, such as the stars of the Schitt’s Creek cast, Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, as well as Parker Posey, Larry Miller, Will Sasso, and so many more. It’s so funny.

The White Lotus (2021 - Present)

I cannot recommend The White Lotus enough. Originally billed as a miniseries for HBO, it's turned into an anthology series due to its success, The White Lotus tells three separate storylines of guests who travel to a resort in Hawaii, but even if everything looks perfect from the outside, you never quite know what’s going on behind closed doors. 

Look, The White Lotus cast is amazing. It’s why they ended up winning the 2022 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. It won several other awards as well, but Jennifer Coolidge was the star of the first season and so damn funny, and in every scene she had, my eyes were fully focused on her. There’s a reason she won an Emmy for this role, and why she is one of only two people returning for Season 2 - because fans loved her and needed more quirkiness from Tanya. And, her dancing at the Emmys when she was played off was everything.

The Legally Blonde Films (2001-Present)

This is the one where Jennifer Coolidge became one of my favorites. Legally Blonde follows Elle Woods, a girl who wishes to attend Harvard Law School to prove to her ex-boyfriend that she can be serious and win him back, but along the way, she ends up finding out more about herself rather than trying to change for her ex. 

Jennifer Coolidge in the Legally Blonde movies is me in every sense of the word. Awkward with men and adorable all the same, you can’t help but root for her whenever she wants to do something. I loved her as Paulette (she could be my nail lady any time), and seeing her in the sequel was just as good. I can’t wait to see what her character becomes in the third film - whenever that does come out.

The Secret Life Of The American Teenager (2008-2012)

Moving on to another television series, The Secret Life of the American Teenager mainly told the story of Amy, a high school girl who ends up getting pregnant at band camp and now has to face a huge change in her life while still in school. 

While Jennifer Coolidge was never a main character on the show, she did appear in a recurring role as Betty, who was the ex-stepmother to Ben, and while she wasn’t as comedic in this role as she has been in many others, her part stands out amongst the many other recurring characters. She had moving speeches, memorable scenes, and moments that I can’t forget. It was a nice change of pace for the usually comedic actress, and showed she could be dramatic as well.

A Mighty Wind (2003)

Another Christopher Guest film, we take a look at A Mighty Wind. This is another mockumentary that tells the story of a folk music reunion concert, where for the first time in decades, three separate folk bands come together for a one-night experience for all fans to enjoy, but of course, things don’t go as planned. 

Like in many Guest films, several other stars returned for roles, and Jennifer Coolidge was among them, portraying Amber Cole. It won’t be that much of a shocker when I say she was hilarious, as usual, and her chemistry with her co-stars is always perfectly done. You can’t help but love her in these roles.

A Cinderella Story (2004)

In this retelling of the classic fairytale, A Cinderella Story stars Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray, and it follows a high schooler who ends up getting an internet pen pal. They decide to meet in person at a Halloween dance, but as with any Cinderella story, there is miscommunication that keeps this from being a quick happily ever after. 

There have been so many reboots and remakes of the classic Cinderella story, but this version has always been one of my personal favorites, because Jennifer Coolidge portrays this movie’s version of the wicked stepmother. But she’s not “wicked” in the way you'd expect her to be. In my mind, Coolidge’s version is just so unhinged in the best way that I find myself holding my stomach in laughter every single time I see her.

For Your Consideration (2006)

The last Christopher Guest film on this list is For Your Consideration. However, this one isn’t a mockumentary like the last two and is instead just labelled as comedy, telling the story of actors who find out that the film they are working on – which has yet to be released – is getting a lot of awards buzz. 

You guessed it, several of the stars from past Guest films returned, and Jennifer Coolidge is among them, with her playing Whitney Taylor Brown. As you would expect, she’s just hilarious in every way possible. There’s a reason why she always comes back for these roles and it’s because she really gets to show how funny she is. People who haven’t seen these movies? Please check them out. If Christopher Guest makes another film like this, please, bring her back.

2 Broke Girls (2012-2017)

The last TV series on this list, Jennifer Coolidge was actually a part of the main cast of 2 Broke Girls. The comedy series, featuring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, followed two young women from completely different backgrounds who both work in a diner and are trying to save up money to start their own business, running into hijinks along the way. 

Jennifer Coolidge was only a recurring character in Season 1, but ended up being promoted to a main character for the rest of the show because of her hilarious character, Zofia Kaczynski, otherwise called “Sophie” in the show. Her chemistry with the rest of the cast was great, and it was awesome to see her in a main series role prior to The White Lotus.

Robots (2005)

If you’re looking for an animated film, check out Robots. This fun movie follows the story of Rodney Copperbottom, who looks to become an inventor in the world of robots, but when he gets the chance to meet his idol, he discovers that there’s a conspiracy within his company that threatens the entire existence of everyone in his city. 

This movie is so fun and the cast is just outstanding, with the likes of Robin Williams, Ewan McGregor, Halle Berry, and more leading the cast. But, by God, Jennifer Coolidge as Aunt Fanny was just the best pick ever. Her voiceover was absolutely perfect and created some hysterical moments and Fanny literally became an internet meme so everyone loved her just as much as I did. It was like the creators of the film just made Coolidge in animated form. I love her.

Promising Young Woman (2020)

Last but not least, we have the comedy-thriller, Promising Young Woman. In this critically-praised film, we follow a young woman who takes it upon herself to use her trauma from her past for good in order to get revenge on the people who made her life a living hell. 

While it’s not as comedic as some of her other roles, Jennifer Coolidge’s portrayal of Susan Thomas was just as good, and showed she could balance both comedy and drama in the same film, a welcome change from her comedic entries of the past. The twist at the end of the film is everything, too. You have to watch it if you’ve never seen it before.

With so many amazing roles, it feels like an endless amount of films and shows you can watch that feature this amazing actress. I’ll go ahead and re-watch a ton as I wait for The White Lotus Season 2 to come out.  

Though there are currently enough TV and streaming shows out there to serve as nominees for a dozen different award shows, the annual Emmy Awards remain the top-tier honors for the medium’s biggest shows. (Especially with the 2022 Golden Globes going untelevised after the prior year’s botched efforts.) With SNL legend Kenan Thompson taking on hosting duties for the 74th annual ceremony, it's a big night for so many shows, largely in the realm of streaming, though with ABC's Abbott Elementary holding down the fort for network TV.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine powerhouse and future Bar Fight star Melissa Fumero and Curb Your Enthusiasm scene-stealer JB Smoove revealed the major nominations back in July, and a bunch of the behind-the-scenes awards were handed out on September 3 for the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. While this year’s Emmy Awards may be set in stone, there's still a lot of huge shows on the way for the rest of the year, so check out our 2022 TV premiere schedule to see what's out there. 

The White Lotus took audiences by surprise when it hit HBO last year, as the highly acclaimed first season was raved about by critics and viewers alike for its impressive cast, pitch black humor, and searing commentary on privilege. The anthology series was renewed for a second season with a mostly new cast of characters, whose story will be told at a different resort within the fictional White Lotus chain. While the vacationers will be mostly new to the audience, some of their faces might be familiar, as The White Lotus Season 2 features its own stacked cast to carry out creator Mike White’s vision. 

While Season 1 of the satirical series followed our flawed vacationers on a getaway to the White Lotus resort in Hawaii all the way to its shocking and deadly conclusion, a new gang of protagonists will next travel to Italy, as Variety recently reported Season 2 will be filmed in Sicily. Let’s check out the cast that’s been confirmed to lead the shenanigans of The White Lotus Season 2. 

F. Murray Abraham (Bert Di Grasso) 

The White Lotus has landed an absolute icon for its Season 2 cast. F. Murray Abraham won an Academy Award and Golden Globe for his leading role in Amadeus in 1984, and he has two Emmy nominations for his work within the ensemble cast of Homeland. Abraham's credits also include All the President's Men, Scarface, Finding Forrester and The Grand Budapest Hotel. As well as his work on the screen, Abraham is also a star of the stage, having appeared in a number of productions, both on and off Broadway, including Angels in America, King Lear, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Waiting for Godot.

In The White Lotus Season 2, F. Murray Abraham will portray Bert Di Grasso, an elderly man traveling with his son and grandson, which probably means viewers can expect three generations of akws.

Michael Imperioli (Dominic Di Grasso) 

Cast as Bert Di Grasso's son, Dominic Di Grasso, is another legend in his own right, Michael Imperioli, who is best known for his role as Christopher Moltisanti on The Sopranos, for which he won an Emmy in 2004. His most recent projects include reprising his career role on The Many Saints of Newark feature, and a guest spot on the police procedural Blue Bloods. Imperioli's movie credits range from One Night in Miami (as Angelo Dundee) to Goodfellas to The Basketball Diaries and the animated Shark Tale. As well as The White Lotus, the actor is slated for the upcoming Hulu series This Fool.

Adam DiMarco (Albie Di Grasso) 

The youngest member of the Di Grasso family will be played by Adam DiMarco, whose character Albie is a recent college graduate traveling with his father and grandfather. DiMarco starred as Randall Carpio on Netflix The Order and as Todd on Syfy's The Magicians. 

Aubrey Plaza (Harper Spiller) 

Parks and Recreation veteran Aubrey Plaza joins The White Lotus Season 2 cast as Harper Spiller, a woman on vacation with her husband Ethan and his friends, the Babcocks. The White Lotus is only one of Plaza's upcoming projects, as audiences will get to see the actress getting snarky with Jason Statham on the action-comedy Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, and as the titular character in Emily the Criminal, which she is also producing.

If you missed Aubrey Plaza as April Ludgate, one of Parks and Recreation's funniest characters, you might also know her as Riley from Happiest Season or the "physically and mentally destroying" role of Allison in Black Bear. Plaza's other projects include Mystery Team, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and 2019's Child's Play.

Tom Hollander (Quentin) 

Tom Hollander is joining the White Lotus cast as Quentin, who is described as an expat vacationing with his friends and nephew. Hollander was recently featured (thrice over) as part of The King's Man cast, where he played King George, Kaiser Wilhelm and Tsar Nicholas. He is known for a number of critically acclaimed and often antagonistic roles, including Lord Cutler Beckett in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and Lord Corkoran in AMC's The Night Manager. Other notable movies for Hollander include Gosford Park and Bohemian Rhapsody. 

If you don't recognize Tom Hollander from these roles, perhaps you've seen the meme from Bird Box, in which he played Gary, or heard him as the voice of Alfred Pennyworth in the 2020 HBO Max animated series Harley Quinn. He is also acclaimed in the theatre and has done voice work for BBC Radio and book recordings, including J.K. Rowling's The Casual Vacancy. 

Haley Lu Richardson (Portia)

Playing Portia in The White Lotus Season 2 will be Haley Lu Richardson, who starred as Stella in the emotional adaptation of Five Feet Apart, a role that changed her. Richardson has had a number of critically acclaimed roles, including the movies Columbus, Support the Girls, The Edge of Seventeen and Split.  She also played Veronica in Unpregnant, which takes the classic road trip premise and adds a social commentary about abortion access. 

In The White Lotus the character of Portia is described as a young woman traveling with her boss. Cue a collar-tugging emoji.

Jennifer Coolidge (Tanya McQuoid)

While HBO has yet to confirm this casting, Variety reported back in October that fan favorite Jennifer Coolidge would return to the anthology series for Season 2. With no official word, there's only speculation about Coolidge reprising the spacey Tanya McQuoid, but creator/writer/director Mike White previously told IndieWire, in discussing how an anthology series might work, that maybe "some of [the Season 1 guests] would come back."

Jennifer Coolidge endeared herself to fans as the grieving, lonely, and awkwardly amusing Tanya, who traveled to the White Lotus resort in Hawaii to scatter her mother's ashes. The aimless woman with inexhaustible funds seems like a no-brainer to return for a vacation in a different White Lotus location, assuming she can find an A+ masseuse.

Coolidge may still be best known as the original MILF — Jeanine Stiffler in American Pie — and for bending and snapping as Paulette Bonafonté Parcelle in the Legally Blonde films. She is also a mainstay of Christopher Guest’s mockumentary films, including Best in Show and A Mighty Wind.

 Meghann Fahy (Daphne Babcock) 

Best known as Sutton Brady from The Bold Type, Daphne Babcock has been tapped to play Daphne Babcock on The White Lotus Season 2. Daphne is vacationing with her husband Cameron and the Spillers. 

The Bold Type ended in 2021 after five seasons, but Meghann Fahy will also be seen in The Unbreakable Boy, which is set for a March 18 premiere. Natalie has appeared on Broadway in the role of Natalie in Next to Normal. She played college student Hannah O’Connor on One Life to Live, and has had guest appearances on shows including Gossip Girl, Necessary Roughness and Chicago Fire. 

 Theo James (Cameron Babcock) 

Daphne’s husband, Cameron Babcock, will be played by Theo James. James will also star as Henry DeTamble in The Time Traveler’s Wife series opposite Rose Leslie, which is set for a 2022 release on HBO. James played David in the Underworld movies and Four in Divergent and its sequels, and he was also in the 2018 action movie How It Ends and the 2020 sci-fi flick Archive.  

Will Sharpe (Ethan Spiller) 

Will Sharpe will play Ethan Spiller, husband of Harper (Aubrey Plaza), as the couple vacations with their friends, the Babcocks. Sharpe is best known for the 2016 dark comedy Flowers, which he wrote, directed and starred in. The series won a BAFTA for best scripted comedy, and Sharpe won another BAFTA in 2020 for his role as Rodney Yamaguchi in the BBC series Giri/Haji. 

Leo Woodall (Jack) 

Leo Woodall also joins The White Lotus cast for Season 2 as a recurring guest star. He will play Jack, a magnetic guest staying at the White Lotus. Woodall is a relative newcomer but was seen as Rodgers in the 2021 movie Cherry, which starred Tom Holland.

One of my all-time favorite movies is Legally Blonde. If someone held me hostage and told me I had to quote the entire movie to live, I’d be freed in a heartbeat. 

Okay, while that may be a bit of an exaggeration, I do love this movie, from the moment I first watched it to now, years later, and it got me wondering about where the cast of this iconic comedy is today, from Reese Witherspoon all the way down to Linda Cardellini. With Legally Blonde 3 in the works, let’s take a look at where the Legally Blonde cast is today, more than twenty years later.  

Reese Witherspoon (Elle Woods)

Reese Witherspoon was the perfect Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. I don’t think anyone could have played the role better. Understandably, Witherspoon’s career has taken off even more since her appearance in the classic. 

Witherspoon has appeared in many of her best movies, that have done well both critically and financially, since Legally Blonde 2. This includes the funny romantic comedy, Sweet Home Alabama, the critically acclaimed Walk the Line (for which she won an Academy Award), Mud, Inherent Vice, and more. She’s also stepped into voice-acting, including a performance in Sing, and reprising her role in the Sing 2 cast. 

She’s also had a successful career in television, with leading roles in shows such as the HBO original, Big Little Lies, the Apple TV+ series, The Morning Show, and the Hulu original series, Little Fires Everywhere, all of which were received very well and earned her several nominations. She’s also actively working on the Legally Blonde 3 script with writer Mindy Kaling, so it won’t be long before we see her return as Elle Woods!

Luke Wilson (Emmett Richmond)

Emmett was the perfect love interest in Legally Blonde, and he was played by the talented Luke Wilson. Since his appearance, besides reappearing in Legally Blonde 2, he’s been in plenty of big movies. They include the comedy, Old School, the Anchorman series alongside Will Ferrell, The Skeleton Twins, High Voltage, Zombieland: Double Tap, All the Bright Places, and more. 

Wilson has also had success on TV. He played Levi Callow on Enlightened for a few years, Bill on Roadies, and recently, took on the role of Pat Dugan/S.T.R.I.P.E. on the CW’s Stargirl. I can’t wait to see what he does next. 

Selma Blair (Vivian Kensington)

I’m pretty sure at first we all hated Vivian, but slowly, she started to grow on us in Legally Blonde. Vivian was played by Selma Blair, who has had success in both film and TV. Some of her biggest hits have been the Hellboy movies, directed by Guillermo del Toro, as Liz Sherman, the After franchise, The Sweetest Thing, and more. 

On television, she’s had some huge roles on comedies such as Kath and Kim, Anger Management, Another Life, and more. She’s also had several recurring roles on series like Lost in Space on Netflix, Heathers, Out There, and more. She even played Kris Jenner in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, really showing off her dramatic skills. 

Matthew Davis (Warner Huntington III)

Let’s all say it - Warner was one of the biggest jerks in cinema history, and he was played by Matthew Davis. Since his role in Legally Blonde, Davis has mainly kept his talents on television. While he has appeared in movies like Into the Sun, S. Darko and more, his biggest role thus far has been as a part of The Vampire Diaries universe. 

For several years, he has played Alaric Saltzman. The character first appeared on The Vampire Diaries, and then on The Originals, and is currently on Legacies. He’s also had a main role on the show What About Brian, as well as recurring roles on shows like Damages, Cult, and even CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. 

Victor Garber (Professor Callahan)

There’s also that professor who seems like he's a good guy, but it turns out he's completely not, and that was the disgusting Professor Callahan, played by the (not disgusting) Victor Garber. He's been active in both movies and TV for some time. 

Garber has appeared in films like Milk, Take Me Home, Argo, Sicario, the Hulu original movie, Happiest Season, and more. On television, he portrayed Jack Bristow in Alias for several years, Oliver Roth on ReGenesis, Jordan Wethersby on Eli Stone, Simon Stern in Power, Martin Stein in The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, Admiral Halsey in The Orville, and had several guest roles that are too numerous to put here. 

Jennifer Coolidge (Paulette Bonafonte)

Raise your hands if Paulette was one of your favorite characters (*raises hand). Truly, a legend, and only a legend would be played by the legendary Jennifer Coolidge. Since her role in Legally Blonde, Coolidge has been at the top of her game, appearing in hilarious movies and amazing TV shows. 

Some of her biggest hits besides Legally Blonde 2 have been A Cinderella Story, Mascots, For Your Consideration, Promising Young Woman, the Netflix original movie, Single All the Way, and as part of the American Pie cast. And, from what Reese Witherspoon told The Hollywood Reporter, she’s also set to come back in Legally Blonde 3.

Coolidge has had some major roles on TV shows, like the sitcom Joey, the drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and 2 Broke Girls. As of 2021, she was a part of The White Lotus cast, which has been brought back as an anthology series for HBO. She’s also had a pretty great career in voice-acting, with some of her highlights being the Disney Channel original shows Fish Hooks and Gravity Falls. 

Holland Taylor (Professor Elspeth Stromwell)

Another character that I think we all grew to like, Professor Stromwell was a tough-as-nails professor who truly cared about her students succeeding, and that included Elle Woods. Holland Taylor, who played the professor in Legally Blonde, is another actress who has been in the business for a while. 

Taylor’s appeared in a couple of the Spy-Kids films, as well as other big hits like Bombshell, To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, Bill & Ted Face the Music, The Stand In, and many others.

On television, you might have seen her in the hit sitcom, Two and a Half Men, where she played Evelyn Harper for the series’ full run. She also voiced Ruth Orwell in Electric City, played Ida Silver on Mr. Mercedes, portrayed Ellen Kincaid in Hollywood, played Professor Joan Hambling on The Chair, and has a recurring role on The Morning Show. Alongside all these big roles, she’s had plenty of guest appearances, as well.  

Ali Larter (Brooke Taylor-Windham)

Next up, we have Brooke, who was the main client (and former sorority sister) that Elle was defending in Legally Blonde. Brooke was played by Ali Larter, who has appeared in a variety of movies and TV shows. Some of her biggest hits include The Resident Evil franchise as Claire Redfield, Obsessed, Lovesick, and others. 

Her biggest role thus far was playing the characters Niki/Jessica/Gina Sanders on the NBC hit, Heroes. After that, she would have main roles in shows like Legends and Pitch, as well as guest spots on many other TV programs. She’s also had a recurring role in the police procedural series, The Rookie, playing Dr. Grace Sawyer.  

Jessica Cauffiel (Margot)

Margot was one of Elle’s best friends in Legally Blonde, and she was played by Jessica Cauffiel. After appearing in the comedy and its sequel, Cauffiel had some appearances in other memorable comedies, like White Chicks and Hoot. 

She also had recurring roles on The Drew Carey Show and My Name is Earl. While she did take a break from acting for a bit to focus on producing and writing for a little while, like for the documentary, Master, hopefully she can return as Margot in Legally Blonde 3.

Alanna Ubach (Serena McGuire)

The second half of Elle's best friends in Legally Blonde was Serena, who was played by Alanna Ubach. The actress has appeared in a number of movies, including Meet the Fockers, Bad Teacher, the Netflix film To the Bone, the Pixar animated movie, Coco (as Mama Imelda), Bombshell, and more, though a big focus has been television and her voice work. 

Since 2001, Ubach has worked on several animated shows, such as Team Supremo, Ozzy & Drix, Brandy & Mr. Whiskers, Higglytown Heroes, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, Pound Puppies, Mad, Monsters at Work, and more. She’s also appeared on shows such as Euphoria, The West Wing, Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce, Californication, and many more. 

Francesca P. Roberts (Judge Marina R. Bickford)

While Judge Marina wasn’t in Legally Blonde for long, she made an impact with her character and attitude in the court battle. The judge was played by Francesca P. Roberts, who has had a great career in television since her appearance in Legally Blonde. 

She’s appeared on shows like Empire, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Shameless, Law & Order: LA, Boston Legal, Big Shots, Judging Amy, Grey’s Anatomy, and many others. She has appeared in smaller films, but TV is where it’s really at for Roberts. 

Oz Perkins (David Kidney)

David is another one of those characters where you never quite forget this face and personality, and his interactions with Elle were always the best in Legally Blonde. Oz Perkins portrayed David in Legally Blonde, and has been active in the movie and TV industry both on and off the screen. 

Some of his acting roles have included the movies La Cucina, Secretary, Electric Slide, and others. His TV roles are mainly guest roles on shows like the recently rebooted The Twilight Zone, October Road, Alias, and more. He has, however, directed and produced many fun thriller and horror movies, like Gretel & Hansel, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House and more. 

Linda Cardellini (Chutney Windham)

Last but not least, we have the perm queen herself, Chutney Windham, played by Linda Cardellini, a queen of Hollywood, in my opinion. Since her appearance, Cardellini has appeared in films like the Scooby-Doo franchise as Velma, the Avengers franchise as Laura Barton, Brokeback Mountain, Green Book, the Daddy’s Home series, A Simple Favor alongside Blake Lively, The Curse of La Llorona, Capone, and many others. 

Cardellini has worked on a variety of shows, both live-action and animated. With voice roles, she’s had main parts in shows like Regular Show, Gravity Falls, Sanjay and Craig, and more. One of her biggest on-screen roles was in ER, where she played Samantha Taggart. She had a recurring role as Abby Day on New Girl, played Meg Rayburn on Bloodline, and currently plays Judy Hale on Netflix's Dead to Me. 

Recently, she also appeared as Laura Barton again recently, but this time in the Hawkeye TV series on Disney+. 

All these stars, and so much to watch. Now, if only Legally Blonde 3 could come out soon, I’d be happy.  

When it comes to some of the best coming of age films, one of the first ones that always comes to mind is American Pie. While it’s not as emotional as other movies in the same genre, such as the Hailee Steinfeld-led The Edge of Seventeen or The Perks of Being a Wallflower, this film series has cemented itself as one of the funniest coming of age movies out there - and that’s only continued with its subsequent sequels. 

With such a large ensemble, one might wonder where the American Pie cast is now after more than twenty years since its 1999 premiere. From Jason Biggs to Natasha Lyonne, this is what they’ve been up to - and what they’ve starred in.  

Jason Biggs (Jim)

Hands down one of the most known cast members of American Pie is the main man himself, Jason Biggs, who played Jim - you know, that character that goes hand-in-hand with apple pies everywhere. Biggs himself since his big role in American Pie has been quite active in both movies and TV. 

In regards to movies, he’s starred in several hilarious comedies, such as Saving Silverman, Boys and Girls, Over Her Dead Body, My Best Friend’s Girl and more, while also simultaneously appearing in other American Pie sequels. 

Television has been where Biggs has really shined. For a couple of seasons, Biggs was a part of the Orange is the New Black cast on Netflix, playing Larry Bloom. He’s also a part of the comedy, Outmatched, as part of the main cast, and has guest-starred on several shows, such as The Good Fight, Deadbeat and more. I’m sure it’ll only be a matter of time before he pops up on TV once again. 

Alyson Hannigan (Michelle)

Remember that one time at band camp? Michelle sure does in American Pie, played by Alyson Hannigan. Since her role in the teen comedy, Hannigan has made a name for herself in Hollywood. 

With movies, she reprised her role in several of the American Pie sequels, but other than that, she appeared in the Disney+ original movie, Flora & Ulysses, the comedies, Love, Wedding, Marriage and Date Movie, and more. 

Like Biggs, TV is where Hannigan has stood out the most. After American Pie, she went on to have two major main roles in very popular shows - continuing playing Willow Rosenberg as part of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast, and playing Lily Aldrin in How I Met Your Mother. Recently, she’s taken on roles such as the host of Penn & Teller: Fool Us, a main voice role in Fancy Nancy, and several guest appearances on TV shows. 

Seann William Scott (Steve Stifler)

Playing Steve Stifler in American Pie was Seann William Scott, and just like his co-stars, Scott has done a lot in both movies and TV. With movies, he’s appeared in several hilarious comedies such as Dude, Where’s My Car?, Mr. Woodcock, Road Trip and more, as well as stepping into other genres, such as the horror film, Final Destination, or the sports comedy, Goon and its sequel. 

Scott has also proven himself to be a talented voice actor as well, voicing Crash from the Ice Age film series for several of its movies. Scott also had the main role of Wesley Cole in the TV series, Lethal Weapon, and will play Father Joe in the Fox TV series, Welcome to Flatch.

Eugene Levy (Jim's Father)

While Levy's fame has only grown in recent years, it wasn’t long ago that one of his most hilarious roles was playing Mr. Levenstein in American Pie, otherwise known as Jim’s father. 

Since his appearance in the film, Levy has appeared in a variety of movies and TV shows. While he reprised his role for several American Pie sequels, he appeared in movies such as New York Minute, Curious George, Taking Woodstock, Goon, Finding Dory and more. He's also well known for his work (appearing in and co-writing) on numerous Christopher Guest movies (Best In Show, Waiting for Guffman, etc.). 

Arguably, Eugene Levy’s biggest work since his time in the American Pie series was co-creating the hit comedy, Schitt’s Creek, alongside his son, Dan Levy, and being a part of the Schitt’s Creek cast. However, Levy has also appeared in other shows as well as a guest or a recurring character, like Package Deal, Greg the Bunny and others. 

Tara Reid (Vicky)

Another famous face from American Pie is Tara Reid, who played Vicky in the series. After her role in the original movie, Tara Reid reprised her role for a couple of the American Pie sequels, and went on to star in a lot of comedies and independent films. 

Some of these include Josie and the Pussycats, Van Wilder, My Boss’s Daughter and more. Reid had a main role as April Wexler in the TV film series, Sharknado, from 2013 to 2018. Reid has also guest-starred in many shows whether as herself or a character, such as the Amazon original series, The Boys, Hell’s Kitchen and more. 

Chris Klein (Oz)

Moving on, now we have Oz from American Pie, played by Chris Klein. Since his appearance in the first film, Klein has popped up in many roles in both movies and television. With film, he reprised the role of Oz in several of the American Pie sequels, as well as appeared in movies such as The United States of Leland, Just Friends, Caught in the Crossfire, Game of Aces, Ron’s Gone Wrong and more. 

Klein has also made a career for himself in television as well. His most recent role is playing Bill Townsend in the Netflix original series, Sweet Magnolias, but he’s appeared in many other shows. For example, he played Cicada in the CW original show, The Flash, for Season 5, voiced Dash in TRON: Uprising, appeared in The Good Guys, had a recurring role in Wilfred and many other parts. 

Natasha Lyonne (Jessica)

Natasha Lyonne as Jessica in American Pie will always be one of my favorite roles in a teen comedy, because she just knocked it out of the park. Since her appearance in the movie, Lyonne has made a name for herself, both in movies and TV. 

Lyonne, in terms of movies, has made a living appearing in comedies and independent films, such as Sleeping with Other People, Hello, My Name Is Doris, the body horror movie, Antibirth, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, and more. 

Television, however, is Lyonne’s bread and butter in my opinion, as she has appeared in several amazing shows. Like Biggs, Lyonne was a part of the Orange is the New Black cast as Nicky, and then went on to have her own show on Netflix, titled Russian Doll, which was nominated for Primetime Emmy awards. In addition to that, she’s also appeared as a guest star or recurring character on many other TV shows, like Girls and Portlandia. 

Mena Suvari (Heather)

Heather has always been one of my favorite characters from American Pie just because I really liked her relationship with Oz, and she was played by Mena Suvari. Since her appearance in the role, Suvari has reprised the character for a couple of the sequels, as well as made a name for herself in movies and TV. 

The same year that American Pie came out, Suvari turned heads in the Academy-Award winning movie, American Beauty, showing her talent as an actress. Afterwards, she would appear in several other movies such as Loser, Sugar & Spice, You May Not Kiss the Bride, The Opposite Sex, The Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson, and many more. She also had a role in Ron’s Gone Wrong, voicing B-Bot. 

Suvari has also appeared in many TV shows. Some of her more prominent roles include playing Edie in the HBO limited series, Six Feet Under, portraying the Black Dahlia in American Horror Story: Murder House (which she reprised in American Horror Story: Apocalypse), appearing as Maria Abascal in South of Hell, and playing Kathleen in American Woman.

Shannon Elizabeth (Nadia)

Next up, we have Nadia, one of Jim’s love interests in American Pie, played by Shannon Elizabeth. Since her appearance in American Pie, Elizabeth has reprised the role of Nadia in a couple of the American Pie sequels, as well as appearing in other movie roles. Some of her most known are the Christmas movie, Love Actually, the parody film, Scary Movie, the action film, The Outsider and more. 

Elizabeth has also had some prominent roles in television, including playing Brooke in That ‘70s Show and Tiffany Sherwood in Cuts. She’s also had guest appearances in shows like Melissa & Joey, What Not to Wear, and more. 

In 2018, she was a houseguest on Celebrity Big Brother. And in 2019, she returned to her role as Justice for Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. 

Eddie Kaye Thomas (Paul Finch)

Next up, we have Paul Finch in American Pie, played by Eddie Kaye Thomas. Since his appearance in the first movie, Thomas has appeared in many movies, including the sequels to American Pie years later. Some of his other great roles have included playing Andy Rosenberg in the Harold & Kumar comedy film series, appearing as Michael Petunia in Petunia, and playing Dave in Alex & the List, among other smaller films. 

In television, Thomas has had numerous roles. He played Russell in Brutally Normal, Mike Platt in Off Centre, Jeff Woodcock in ‘Til Death, David Kaplan in How to Make it in America, and Tobias in Scorpion. Talk about someone who is busy in the TV industry. He’s also had guest appearances in shows like This Is Us, Outmatched, The Prodigal Son and others. 

Thomas Ian Nicholas (Kevin Myers)

Thomas Ian Nicholas played Kevin Myers in American Pie, and has reprised this role in a couple of the American Pie movies. Some of his other roles that he has appeared in were playing Bill Woodlake in Halloween: Resurrection as part of the Halloween franchise, Sherman’s Way, The Chicago 8, Adverse and Zeroville, as well as smaller film appearances. 

Nicholas has also popped up in several TV shows, from guest parts to recurring roles. This includes having a recurring role on Party of Five, a recurring appearance on Red Band Society, a main role on the animated TV series, Gormiti, some guest roles in shows like Medium and Grey’s Anatomy and more. He also had a guest appearance on the reality cooking show, Hell’s Kitchen. I for one can't wait to see what he does next, whether that be in movies or TV.

Jennifer Coolidge (Stifler’s Mother)

Last but certainly not least, we have Jennifer Coolidge, who played Stifler’s mother in American Pie. Coolidge has had quite the film career while also appearing in a couple of the American Pie sequels. 

She was a part of the Legally Blonde cast, and has appeared in many hit comedy movies such as Zoolander, the Cinderella movie, A Cinderella Story, Austenland, and more, as well as popping up in more serious roles such as Promising Young Woman. One of her most recent appearances in a movie was the Netflix original film, Single All the Way. 

Coolidge has also made a career out of television as well. While appearing in many TV shows as a guest, she’s also had main roles in series’ such as Joey, the teen series, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Gravity Falls, The Fungies!, and most recently, the HBO anthology series, The White Lotus. Talk about a stacked resume - and I can't wait to see what she does next. 

You know, I think it’s time for another American Pie reunion. Maybe not as part of the 2022 movies but soon. Anyone up for a sequel? As long as these fantastic actors are in it, I think I’ll love the heck out of it. I also think this just makes me want to eat apple pie - you know, without the giant hole.
