Music can move us, inspire us, and occasionally, cause us to act a fool in public. There's just something about the concert experience that not even other musicians can help themselves, even when they also sell out arenas. Enter Travis Scott, who recently attended a John Mayer concert, and his unglued energy is just what I need to get through this week.

Scott's had an eventful year in the spotlight from WrestleMania 41 to the release of the Netflix documentary highlighting his past Astroworld concert tragedy. As such, I can't fault him for wanting to unwind with some floor seats to a John Mayer concert and proceed to lose his mind during the performance. Take a look:

At first, I was judging him a bit for the screaming, but then I had to put myself in his shoes. If I was that close to John Mayer, and he was playing "Neon" live in front of me, I too would likely have the same reaction. Truth be told, I'd be doing the same from the cheap seats, and not have security feel the need to protect me when the crowd is over my screaming.

Those shocked to see Travis Scott at a John Mayer concert shouldn't be, as the two have worked together in the past. Mayer is credited as a producer on a few of Scott's songs and has played the guitar for him on tracks as well. He even performed with him onstage when Scott performed on Saturday Night Live in 2018.

All this to say, it seems like John Mayer and Travis Scott have a pretty solid relationship, and the latter appears to be a big fan of his style. That said, I know a ton of people in his age range who would list Continuum as one of their favorite albums, so it's not like that's a huge surprise he also vibes with it.

I would love, however, if this TikTok gets a sequel. I want to see John Mayer losing his marbles at a Travis Scott concert, though, based on Astroworld, I would speculate the energy at his shows is far more chaotic in general. Plus, given Mayer's general demeanor and having watched his viral cat bar moment on a past New Year's Eve, I would say he's incapable of cranking up the enthusiasm in the way Scott does.

Perhaps the better move would be for Mayer to be unbelievably chill in an atmosphere where fans are losing their mind all around him. Have him casually smoking a pipe in a Victorian chair and dressed in a silk robe. I would wager he has one. The man brings his guitar into the bedroom.

We'll have to wait and see if Travis Scott or John Mayer will make an appearance on the 2026 TV schedule. The only thing I would guess is that we won't see Scott on WWE television anytime soon, as the alleged follow-up plans we reported on months ago never seemed to pan out.

New Year's Eve is arguably one of the most exciting times for live television, and Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper are a large reason for that. The two famed friends have frequently shouldered the responsibility of  hostingCNN's New Year's Eve broadcast from Times Square, and it doesn't take much else to get them and viewers at home giggling at the sillier moments of the night. (Especially when booze is allowed.) 2023's biggest near-cat-astrophe involved a check-in with a hilariously straight-faced John Mayer from a cat bar in Tokyo, and the internet couldn't get enough of the entire thing. 

As the drinks flowed at Times Square in New York City, Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper catwalked into an interview John Mayer, who was already well into New Year's Day in Tokyo. Mayer was stationed at a "cat bar" for the segment, which, as he'll lay out in the video below, is exactly what it sounds like. Check out the segment, and watch Cooper lose any ability to form a sentence due to a wild case of the giggles: 

I'm not sure how many snarky comments Andy Cohen will respond to after that laughing fit by Anderson Cooper, but readers can rest assured that there was no shortage of people who loved seeing the entire segment from start to finish. Some, like @xoraveen, almost lost control more than the CNN host, and couldn't get enough of John Mayer fully embracing the mission of telling all there is to know about a random cat bar in Japan many watching will never venture to:  

The real highlight of this clip has to be Anderson Cooper, who couldn't get enough of the cats' buttholes frequently being exposed to the camera. Perhaps this celebrity with a famous parent wasn't used to being confronted with a cat's butt so intimately, or he was aware of how much some folks at the network likely hated that image going out to countless viewers. In either case, his giggles made the segment, and many like @caliiinoel loved it because of that:

And while Swifties may still attack John Mayer despite Taylor Swift's plights to inspire other behavior, he's certainly won some cool points with me for this interview. This segment wouldn't kill if Mayer didn't maintain his deadpan seriousness during the interview, unwilling to even acknowledge any ridiculousness of it all. @Vandel_Buster noticed the same thing and loved the contrast between the two parties: 

I've known John Mayer had comedic chops since his criminally underrated sketch on Chappelle's Show, and power to him for stone-facing it through this interview, but he can't get all the credit in this instance. I know I've already mentioned it, but it can't be said enough how the entire hilarity of this whole New Year's Eve segment boils down to seeing a cat butthole on television. As @MrEAnders pointed out, the whole segment descended into chaos as soon as the cat butt was right at the camera:

I have to say that it's refreshing to wake up in 2024 with some pleasant viral moment to kick off the year rather than some phony drama where Andy Cohen snubbed Ryan Seacrest like we had last year. That said, the new host of Wheel of Fortune might be a little miffed in the new year, knowing that one of the biggest viral moments of the night didn't happen on his special: 

I have to agree with @thekennaj's take, and if this viral moment is any indication of the energy the 2024 TV schedule will bring into the new year, we're in for a treat. That said, I do hope that's the final time I see a cat's butt on my screen for a while, unless it's tastefully done. 

New Year's Eve on CNN was a great time, but it's time to look ahead to 2024. CinemaBlend will, of course, continue to deliver the news on some of the best things coming to television in the new year, and keep readers updated on the movies front as well. I can't promise it'll be as hilarious as John Mayer in a cat bar, but few things in life are. 

Many Hollywood stars don't actually live in California these days. While some of the stars on this list might have a home in LA, they certainly seem to prefer to spend their off time very far away from the glitz and the glamour. While she's lived in LA at times throughout her career, it's Connecticut that she's called home for most of her adult life. She's lived in Salisbury for decades now. 

John Goodman - New Orleans

John Goodman spent years living in LA, but in the '90s he'd had enough of California and he and his Louisiana-born wife made a choice between his hometown of St. Louis, and her home state. They moved to New Orleans, where they've been ever since. 

Matthew McConaughey - Austin

You can take the boy out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of the boy. Matthew McConaughey was born in Uvalde, TX, went to school in Austin, and has long lived on a ranch near the Texas state capital and getting fed up with the paparazzi in Malibu.

Bill Murray - Charleston, SC

Bill Murray has lived all over the place, LA, NYC, and Chicago... but he's a known fixture around Charleston, South Carolina and even owns his own restaurant in town called Harold's Cabin. He's also invested in the Charleston minor league baseball team. 

Harrison Ford - Jackson Hole, WY

Harrison Ford moved to LA in the '60s to follow his acting dreams, but once he hit it big, he bailed out. While he does own a home in Brentwood, he spends most of his time at his 800-acre ranch outside Jackson Hole, WY. The ranch has been his primary residence since the 1980s and it seems he prefers to call that home. 

Demi Moore - Idaho

When Covid hit in early 2020, Demi Moore and her daughters holed up together in her longtime house in Sun Valley, Idaho. They were soon joined by her ex-husband and father to her daughters, Bruce Willis. Eventually, Willis' current wife Emma Heming, and her child with Willis also joined the big happy family. Moore has lived in Sun Valley for years and it's often featured on her Instagram page.

Jeff Daniels - Chelsea, MI

Jeff Daniels grew up in the small town of Chelsea, Michigan and as soon as he could after finding success in Hollywood, he moved back. He's a true small-town kind of guy and it makes perfect sense. While he makes his money in Hollywood, his heart is always in Michigan. 

Chris Rock - New Jersey

Chris Rock has always been an East Coast guy. Though he was born in South Carolina, his family moved to Brooklyn when he was a baby. He grew up in Crown Heights and Bed-Stuy. He started his comedy career in New York City, and for a couple of decades has lived in Alpine, New Jersey.

John Travolta - Ocala, FL

John Travolta loves to fly and is a first-class plane spotter. As such, he seems to have found the perfect place to live. The Pulp Fiction star has called Ocala, FL home for decades now. While that might sound odd, it's not when you find out his house backs up to an actual airport, so he can park his planes right at home. Sounds pretty awesome. 

Tom Cruise - Clearwater, FL

Superstar Tom Cruise actually has houses all over the world. LA and London, for starters. The most surprising place he's owns property though has to be Clearwater, FL. Cruise has what's described in the Tampa newspaper as a "sprawling penthouse" just blocks from the headquarters of the Church of Scientology, to which he has long been an outspoken member, so it makes sense. 

Taylor Swift - Nashville

Music star Taylor Swift grew up in Pennsylvania and Nashville and still has a home in the latter, where she seems to spend a lot of her time when she's not on the road. In fact, she has homes all over the place, including LA, Rhode Island, and New York City. 

Chris Evans

Chris Evans grew up just outside of Boston in the suburb of Sudbury, MA. Even though he's become one of the biggest stars in the world, he's stayed close to home. He and his new bride live nearby where he grew up in Massachusetts, after getting married in Boston. 

Chris Hemsworth - Byron Bay

The Australian native Chris Hemsworth couldn't ignore the siren call of home. After years in Hollywood becoming one of the biggest stars in the world, he decided it was time to move home. He and his wife Elsa Pataky settled in a small surfing community south of Brisbane called Byron Bay in 2015 and have never looked back. 

Tommy Lee Jones - Texas

Tommy Lee Jones doesn't seem to care much for the trappings of fame, though he has used some of the money he's earned as an actor to buy a huge tract of land in Texas. Jones might be Harvard-educated and work in Hollywood, but he's Texas through and through. 

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani - Tishomingo, OK

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani might be Hollywood's most unlikely couple, at least until you see them together. Less surprising is that they split time between her home stomping grounds in LA and his in Oklahoma. The two built a house on Shelton's ranch in Tishomingo, OK, where they spend most of their time. 

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds - Bedford, NY

The enduring couple of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds don't seem to be interested in big city living, instead opting for the small upstate town of Bedford, NY They maintain a couple of other houses, but their real home is in Westchester County, NY, where they live a quiet, but luxurious life in a small enclave with some celebrity neighbors including Martha Stewart and Micheal Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. 

Mark Ruffalo - Callicoon, NY

Mark Ruffalo is another actor who prefers the peace and quiet of small-town America to the bright lights of Hollywood. The Avengers star and his wife Sunny live in the tiny berg of Callicoon in the Catskill mountains of New York State. 

Elijah Wood - Austin

Elijah Wood doesn't actually live in a shire, like his Lord of the Rings character, but he doesn't live in a huge city, either. Wood has called Austin, TX home for years and a when he was on Hot Ones, he explained where to get all the best meals in town. 

Dave Chappelle - Yellow Springs, OH

Yellow Springs, Ohio might be the last place you'd expect to find a celebrity living among us, but when you understand Dave Chappelle's background, it makes perfect sense. The legendary comedian grew up in Yellow Springs and though he's made a name for himself in Hollywood, the Ohio town is clearly the place he calls home. 

Julia Roberts - Taos, NM

Many years ago, Julia Roberts bought a ranch in Taos, NM, and it seems every year, she spends more and more time there. She even married her husband Danny Moder there. While she does split time in a house in Malibu, closer to work, she seems to prefer the peaceful life of Taos, as she's explained in the past. 

Daniel Day-Lewis - Ireland

Long before Daniel Day-Lewis decided to retire from acting, he had settled into living in Ireland’s County Wicklow. It's hardly surprising that an actor like Lewis would shun the spotlight, after all, he really only worked when the part really fascinated him, and he retired in 2017 despite unparalleled success as a performer. 

John Cena - Land o' Lakes, Florida

Don't confuse John Cena's hometown of Land o' Lakes, Florida for a stick of butter. The Fast X star has lived in the town outside Tampa for a long time. Even as his star has risen in Hollywood, with a major role in the DCEU as Peacemaker both in The Suicide Squad and his own show, The Peacemaker, Cena has resisted moving to California. 

Vera Farmiga - Woodstock, NY

Upstate New York is a popular place for stars to escape the public eye and Vera Farmiga is one of the stars that prefers it that way. The Many Saints of Newark actor lives in the famous artist colony of Woodstock in the Hudson Valley, following in a long tradition of celebrities retreating to the woods to get out of the spotlight, even when she's popping into rock shows in Woodstock to play Iron Maiden covers in a bar band. 

Woody Harrelson - Maui, HI

Woody Harrelson is definitely a man who moves to the beat of his own drummer, so the fact that he lives in Hawaii is hardly a shock. He even semi-retired for a while at the height of his career. While he's not "off the grid", he's certainly off the beaten path. Thankfully, his home was unaffected by the tragic wildfires earlier this year. 

John Mayer - Livingstone, MT

John Mayer has settled down into a much quieter life in recent years. The Dead & Co guitar player has found peace and quiet in the small Montana town of Livingstone. While life on the road certainly has its wild times, one would think, it must be nice for Mayer to get back home for some relaxing peace. 

Ken Jennings - Seattle, WA

Despite being named co-host of Jeopardy! a couple of years ago, and really taking a shine to the gig that shoots in LA, Ken Jennings does not seem to have plans to permanently relocate to Southern California. Jennings and his family have long called Seattle home and it seems he's happy to commute when it's time to shoot new episodes of the legendary game show. 

Robert De Niro - New York City

It's hard to imagine Robert De Niro living anywhere but New York. He just doesn't seem to be a California type of guy at all, right? He even helped get the Tribeca Film Festival off the ground, which bolstered not only NYC but the actual neighborhood he lives in in Manhattan as it struggled to recover from the 9/11 attacks. 

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence is bi-coastal, for sure. She does have a house in LA, but her husband Cooke Maroney is an art dealer whose business and gallery are in New York City, so she seems to spend most of the time she's not working in the Big Apple. 

Dan Aykroyd - Sydenham, Ontario

Dan Aykroyd has always been proud to be Canadian and he's been a longtime resident of Sydenham, Ontario, near Kingston, ON, not too far from where he grew up in Ottawa. 

Jennifer Hudson - Chicagoland Area

Superstar Jennifer Hudson is a Chicago girl and as such, she's stayed close to home. She may be a worldwide star, but Chicago is what made her who she is today and despite the means to live anywhere, Hudson chooses to live in the suburb of Burr Ridge, outside Chi-Town. 

Nikki Glaser - St. Louis, MO

Despite being the hometown of a lot of huge stars like John Goodman, Sterling K. Brown, Jenna Fischer, and Jon Hamm, most don't stay in town. The exception to that rule is comedian and comedy roast specialist Nikki Glaser. She moved back during the pandemic and found it much more fulfilling to live in her hometown than on either coast. 

While Los Angeles may be the city of dreams, it's not always the city of permanent residence for stars that have reached those lofty heights. Most may get their start on the West Coast but many of the biggest stars in the world don't live in California. 

Andy Cohen may know how to keep the gossip mill churning, both through his celebrity interviews on Watch What Happens Live and as executive producer of the popular Real Housewives franchise on Bravo, but every parent knows that raising kids is where the real drama’s at. The talk show host shared a video recently of what happened when he caught his son sneaking potato chips for breakfast, and plenty of celebs, including Cheri Oteri and John Mayer chimed in with their priceless takes on the most important meal of the day.

In a video posted to his Instagram, Andy Cohen showed himself talking to 4-year-old Ben, who was apparently hiding behind a chair while he enjoyed a breakfast of chips. The WWHL host was clearly amused with his son, despite being unsuccessful in his attempts to provide Ben with a more nutritious option. Check out the adorable post for yourself: 

Ben likely knew he wasn’t supposed to be eating the chips for breakfast, since his dad caught him hiding behind a chair while he enjoyed his snack, but that certainly didn’t stop the little one from crunching throughout the video. I don’t know what it is about kids offering up more information than is necessary, but Ben was pretty quick to inform Andy Cohen that the early-morning chip-eating had become a daily ritual. Saturday Night Live alum Cheri Oteri had a characteristically humorous reaction to the video, commenting: 

In fact, lots of famous faces seemed to be Team Ben, as they also hit up the comments in support of the 4-year-old’s chip habit. They wrote:

The Real Housewives of Orange County star Heather Dubrow had a particularly thoughtful take on the matter, as she pointed out:

Others in the comments loved seeing the adorable father-son interaction, especially the fact that Andy Cohen didn’t admonish little Ben, but rather admitted that he fully understood why his son would want to eat delicious potato chips for breakfast, even if they didn’t technically qualify as a “breakfast food.” Carnie Wilson commented:

Andy Cohen is a single father to two children — 4-year-old Ben and 1-year-old Lucy, who were born via surrogate and are biological siblings, he has said. It probably won’t be too long before they’re teaming up on him, and hopefully the talk show host will continue to share such sweet moments.

As Taylor Swift drops new projects and re-releases her old albums, it has reignited her fans' grudges against her exes. When Fearless (Taylor’s Version) came out, the focus was back on Joe Jonas. With Red (Taylor’s Version) Jake Gyllenhaal had a swath of angry Swifties going after him. Now, with Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) coming out on July 7, the focus has shifted to John Mayer, and despite the pop star's message to leave him alone, her fans have made it clear he’s not “Out of the Woods.” 

What Taylor Swift Seemed To Say About John Mayer

For a bit of context, “Dear John” off of Speak Now is notoriously (supposedly) about John Mayer. So, before she played the tune as a surprise song on the Eras Tour Swift made a point to tell fans that they don’t need to defend her online about something that happened when she was 19. In her own words:

After saying that, and asking fans to keep their “internet activities” kind, she hopped into playing “Dear John,” noting that it was only because she was proud of it as a song. Well, the Swifties heard the message, however, their “Bad Blood” runs deep, and they didn’t exactly listen to Taylor Swift. 

What The Swifties Are Saying About John Mayer 

Following Taylor Swift’s big ask before she played “Dear John” in Minneapolis, many fans took to social media to defy her as they continued to post about why they really don’t like John Mayer. For example, @alltoocing tweeted:

On Mayer’s latest Instagram post, which was recapping his show in Boston, Swifties took to the comments to make it clear they aren’t going to stop poking fun at him. Even though Swift asked them not to, many posted things like this:

In the lead-up to Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) there’s been a lot of chatter about the exes Swift seemingly sings about on the album. One is Taylor Lautner -- who has also commented about Mayer -- and his song “Back to December.” Swifties seem to love the Twilight alum, however, when it comes to the “Gravity” singer their opinions fall on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. 

With July 7 right around the corner, I’m curious to see if Taylor Swift comments about her fans not letting off the gas when it comes to their online grudges against John Mayer. Only time will tell, but at this point, the Swifties really said “karma’s gonna track you down” to the "New Light" singer, and they’re not holding back. 

Taylor Swift is always doing the unexpected. Whether it's releasing two surprise albums during a pandemic or re-recording her master catalog, shocking fans is what the pop princess does best. But I don’t think anyone would've expected Swift to defend John Mayer at her latest Eras Tour show. The singer decided to give her devotees a message regarding her current feelings on her past relationship with the “Gravity” singer. And that address was given before she played “Dear John," a track rumored to be about Mayer, as one of her tour's surprise songs.

The entertainer always plays a never-before-played song or two during her concerts. Lately, the Grammy winner has been indulging in some hits ahead of the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), the re-recorded version of her 2010 album. “Dear John” is a fan favorite, so it seemed just to be just a matter of time before she played the emotional ballad. Before she started singing, however, the star made a speech, asking fans not to bully a certain someone online when the new album comes out. While not mentioning her ex-boyfriend by name, she heavily implied she was talking about the "Say" singer. She said:

Swifties can admittedly be quite brutal sometimes in their attempts to defend their favorite pop singer. Her music is often incredibly emotional and honest, as it conveys traumatic feelings in vivid language. The visceral nature of the Grammy winner's tunes often stem from some high-profile relationships, and her fans can often detect the inspirations for her songs. 

“Dear John” made it pretty easy, as it references a relationship involving a significant age gap and has name John in the title. The track is very deep, as it references the alleged manipulation and exhaustion Taylor Swift felt throughout the romance. However, it seems like she's moved on, so maybe it’s time for Swifties to do that as well? You can check out a video of her speech from Twitter below:

Taylor Swift and John Mayer dated for a few months between 2009 and 2010. Mayer was 31 and Swift was 19 years old at the time, and they recorded a song together titled “Half of My Heart.” The age gap raised some eyebrows, and their eventual breakup was covered heavily in the press. Mayer was vocally upset over the “Dear John” song and, after its release, he wrote a song called "Paper Doll," which was rumored to be about the Midnights artist. While this relationship may have occurred a while ago, the “Free Fallin’” singer continues to be one of Swift’s most unpopular ex’s amongst fans, due to the age gap and the devastation she recounts in the song. 

It's fair to say that the message from the "Shake It Off" singer is warranted. For instance, the release of Red (Taylor’s Version) included “All Too Well (10 Minute Version).” The song is arguably one of the 33-year-old’s most gut-wrenching and is rumored to be about Jake Gyllenhaal. Ultimately, the actor ended up getting relentless hate online after the song was released. 

Though he was pretty chill about the song, it seemed like an indicator for what kind of vitriol John Mayer might experience when Speak Now TV was eventually released. Even Taylor Lautner hilariously wished John Mayer luck on TikTok when the re-recording was announced. Lautner also dated the songstress yet, based on her music, the “Back to December” singer and the Twilight star had an amicable break up. This was indicated by the entertainer apparently marking Lautner as “safe.” Maybe Swifties will listen to their favorite pop star on this one, and leave Mayer alone, but we'll just have to wait and see if that comes to pass.

Taylor Swift’s exes may have thought the wrath of the Swifties and the singer’s breakup songs were behind them. However, the majority of Swfit’s upcoming projects are re-records, and now everyone, exes included, is being reminded about who the singer dated via her iconic breakup songs. Up next, are the ex-boyfriends of Speak Now -- Taylor Lautner and John Mayer. However, the actor has explained that he feels like he’s in the clear, although, when it comes to John Mayer…he’s sending his prayers to Swift’s other ex through a viral TikTok. 

After commenting on the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) on the Today Show, Taylor Lautner followed up his comments by posting a very funny TikTok to the tune “Dear John” (which is the breakup song about Mayer) proving once again why he’s Swift’s most unproblematic, and maybe fan-favorite, ex. 

This TikTok stemmed from a comment Lautner made on the Today Show when asked about Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), and the songs about her exes. Polietley (and hilariously) answering the question, the actor lightheartedly said:

Then the TikTok was the cherry on top, as the Twilight star proved once again why he’s one of the Swifties’ favorite exes. For example, ryankapoors commented:

Aren’t those iconic? The overall consensus among the Swifties in the comments was that they approve of Lautner’s jokes about Speak Now, as oui oui baguette put it: 

It makes sense why Taylor Lautner was being asked how he felt about Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). With her last two re-releases, fans anger has been reignited toward the exes who inspired the breakup songs on Swift’s albums. This included Joe Jonas when Fearless (Taylor’s Version) came out, although his wife Sophie Turner and Taylor Swift had a good laugh about it, and Jake Gyllenhaal – who is infamously connected to All Too Well and its ten-minute version off Red (Taylor’s Version). While Gyllenhaal defended Swift’s song, and Jonas has shown his support for the singer, the Swifties did not let them live down their breakup songs. And it can be assumed that John Mayer will be in a similar situation when “Dear John (Taylor’s Version)” comes out in July.

However, when it comes to Taylor Lautner, he’s in the clear, I presume. “Back to December” does not paint the Breaking Dawn star in a bad light, in fact, it actually is a positive song about him, as Swift laments about her own actions that caused the split. 

So, as Taylor Lautner said: “#prayforjohn” as Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) gets closer to release, because I think it's safe to say the “Gravity” singer will be facing the Swifties this summer while the New Moon star continues to get love from Taylor Swift’s fanbase. 

John Mayer may be known to many as the radio-friendly soft ballad rocker, but others may know that his music and guitar prowess goes far deeper than that. Not as many will already be aware that there’s another layer to knowing John Mayer, and an even more intimate performance experience that only a select number of people have seen. Mayer recently revealed that he brings his guitar into the bedroom, and I applaud him for his reason why. 

The musician and singer appeared as a guest on the Call Her Daddy podcast and revealed some interesting news about his bedroom habits. While some talented folks might try to woo a date with some guitar playing before doing the deed, John Mayer prefers to do it after it’s all done. The Grammy-winning artist explained below: 

If you want love, John Mayer will make it, but you should be prepared to wait around for a special private performance afterward. The musician didn't reveal how many songs the intimate performance lasts. I’d also be curious if he does the entire performance solo or brings in the John Mayer Trio for a few songs midway through. 

In all seriousness, the only people who know all the dirty details are those who John Mayer has been intimate with. His love life has certainly made headlines over the years when dating celebrities. Some of his famous exes include Taylor Swift, who he’s complimented in the past. He’s also famously an ex-boyfriend of actress Jennifer Aniston. Mayer went on the record in 2013 and admitted he was a jerk to past girlfriends. 

Over the past year, however, he has been making news for reasons other than being a jerk to his exes, including paying tribute to departed friend Bob Saget and this recent revelation about playing the guitar. I think it’s fair to speculate John Mayer has changed over the years. One thing that hasn’t changed is his musical prowess when it comes to the guitar, so those who get to experience a private performance in the bedroom are in for something special.

Unfortunately, the majority of his fans won't ever experience John Mayer’s “intimate” concert performance. Those with a Netflix subscription will be able to see him perform in Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute, which is certainly worth streaming for those who haven’t watched. 

So many of us were deeply saddened to learn about Bob Saget’s passing in January but, of course, none were more affected by the news than his family and friends. Many of his Full House co-stars have subsequently honored him as have friends like Adam Sandler and Pete Davidson. Singer/songwriter John Mayer was also very close to Saget and, honestly, everywhere you look, it seems he’s paying his respects to his late bud. Now, the musician is opening about the latest way he’s planning to commemorate his friend’s legacy. 

For years now, John Mayer has produced hit songs, which have earned him an array of accolades, including seven Grammys. Tunes like “Say” and "Waiting on the World to Change" are evidence of his sheer ability to channel his feelings into smooth tracks. So it probably won’t surprise you to learn that he’s currently working on a song that will memorialize Bob Saget. While speaking with Andy Cohen on his Sirius XM show, Mayer opened up about how he’s going about working on it:

It seems the musical talent is putting a specific timetable on this song’s release. Referring to the track as his “security blanket,” he believes it’ll “someday be finished on its own” just through his thinking about it. Given the significance of the tune, it’s understandable that he would want to allow his emotions to naturally allow him to finish it up. In the same interview, he reflected on what he was feeling immediately after his friend’s death:

Bob Saget died at the age of 65 on January 9th in the midst of a comedy tour. The actor’s body was found in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida. Authorities ruled out foul play, and his cause of death was later determined to be head trauma. Shortly after his passing, John Mayer, along with Saget’s other longtime friend Jeff Ross, went to LAX to pick up their late friend’s car. During the ride home, Mayer took to Instagram live, where he and Ross shared their memories of the Danny Tanner actor. 

The "Your Body Is a Wonderland" singer was also one of the attendees at a “punk rock shiva” held in the Dirty Work director’s honor. Other notable names like Jodie Sweetin (who shared sweet thoughts on her TV dad), Marc Maron and Seth Green were also present. According to Jeff Ross, the group “laughed and cried for hours.” They also encouraged attendees to donate to the Scleroderma Research Foundation, on which the late star was a board member.

The foundation is also working in tandem with John Mayer and Bob Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo for another project. Mayer designed a shirt that’s being sold to raise money for the organization. In a social media post, Rizzo expressed her thanks to the singer for getting the plans in order. 

So yeah, everywhere you look, it feels John Mayer is working to keep Bob Saget’s memory alive and is succeeding in that mission. It’ll be interesting to hear that song he’s working on, and many will surely wait as long as it takes for him to finish it.

Many of us are still processing Bob Saget’s death, though none are feeling his loss more than those who knew him the best. His widow, Kelly Rizzo, has reflected heavily on the loss and is choosing not to look at the situation as their family being “robbed” of time. She has also received tremendous support from her late husband’s friends and colleagues. Candace Cameron Bure, who has remembered her Full House dad in a myriad of ways, is one of the many to reach out to Rizzo during this time. Now, she and Saget’s other longtime friend, John Mayer, have found a truly awesome way to support his legacy. 

Bob Saget was a longtime board member of the Scleroderma Research Foundation and spent much of his time raising awareness of the autoimmune disease that had sadly claimed his sister’s life. Now, it seems his dedication to the foundation will live on. Kelly Rizzo recently took to Instagram to unveil a sweet hoodie dedicated to her husband’s memory. In her caption, she explained how the clothing was designed and how it will greatly benefit the organization her spouse supported:

Candace Cameron Bure is also making efforts to support the Scleroderma Research Foundation, in collaboration with Kelly Rizzo. On her own Instagram, she revealed sweatshirts, t-shirts and hoodies, which sweetly read, “Love like Jesus, Hug like Bob Saget.” Cameron Bure also explained that, as with John Mayer's hoodie, the total sum of the profits will be presented to the research foundation. The actress recently sported the special shirt in another social media post, during which she was reminiscing with Dave Coulier or “Uncle Joey.” This seems to be a fitting tribute to the late comedian, especially since so many of his co-stars have been remembering his warm hugs. It’s been simply heartwarming to see the ways in which the entertainment world has paid tribute to Bob Saget. Many of these tributes have come from the Full House cast and various comedians, but TV shows have also shown respect. Hulu’s How I Met Your Father honored Saget during its premiere episode, while the set of Mayim Bialik’s Call Me Kat pays homage to him and his classic sitcom. 

The stories related to the Dirty Work director’s kindness have also been great to hear. For instance, The Price is Right host Drew Carey recalled missing his Tonight Show debut due to an act of kindness from the late star. Steve Harvey also somberly revealed that he’d received an email from the sitcom icon just days before his death. It goes without saying that the star touched more than a few people during his time on this Earth. 

As sad as Bob Saget’s passing is, his legacy will certainly never die, thanks to the philanthropic efforts of his loved ones. And of course, you can also remember the beloved comedy actor by watching some of his best work.

Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel have been ruling over late-night talk for a while now. Yet it the kings of late-night have some serious competition coming their way, but it’s from a celebrated Grammy-winning musician, not a fellow comedian. It’s been reported that ViacomCBS is courting rock superstar John Mayer to headline a new late-night series.

Grammy winner John Mayer is close to inking a deal with the CBS streaming platform Paramount Plus to host a performance-based late-night talk show, per Variety. The Mayer-headlined series would follow the same format as the long-running British talk show Later with Jools Holland. According to sources at ViacomCBS, the prospective series would reportedly be titled Later With John Mayer.

If the deal goes through, Later with John Mayer would run weekly on Paramount Plus. Within that deal, there would be a series of specials derived from the prospective series centered around performance segments, and these specials would air periodically on CBS. Another potential part of the deal is a series of Grammy Awards tie-ins with the potential late-night series.

ViacomCBS sources reported that Later with John Mayer is currently being pitched to potential broadcast partners. Much like its U.K. counterpart, the prospective late-night talk show would feature musical performances from today’s biggest acts, as the rocker chats with fellow musicians, actors and other pop culture figures. The set is said to resemble an after-hours club featuring musical artists.

But this potential late-night deal isn’t the first time CBS has pursued John Mayer. Over a decade ago, then CBS Entertainment head Nina Tassler was reportedly courting the singer to headline a potential series. At the time, it wasn’t clear what type of series the musician would’ve been a part of.

A late-night talk series headlined by John Mayer isn’t too farfetched. Since 2018, the Grammy-winning musician has been hosting an Instagram Live talk show Current Mood. Mayer has made many forays into the late-night sphere as a guest on shows such as Saturday Night Live and Chapelle's Show. In recent years, the singer served as guest host on The Late Late Show after Craig Ferguson’s exit.

As a John Mayer fan, I know it’s no secret that the multiple Grammy winner loves to talk and learn about other people’s experiences. Besides being a top-notch musician, Mayer is known for being an open book when it comes to his own personal life. While in recent years that might’ve toned down, he still loves to interact with others, made obvious by his Instagram series and booming TikTok following. So hosting a performance-based talk show isn’t outside of Mayer’s wheelhouse.

Imagining watching a late-night show with John Mayer chatting with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars while jamming with fellow music artists. I’m already excited by that idea, but only time will tell if Later with John Mayer becomes a reality.

John Mayer and Taylor Swift haven't been romantically intertwined since 2010. But there are apparently no bitter feelings left between them. Mayer made that clear when he provided an unexpected review of Taylor Swift's latest album, Reputation, which he recently praised in front of an active audience of music fans.

During a recent appearance on iHeartRadio Live!, John Mayer let his feelings on the best-selling album slip. In the video, it's made apparent that Mayer wasn't talking about the Taylor Swift album. When an audience member made a "woo!" sound, the singer-songwriter had to correct himself, letting the people in attendance know that he enjoyed the newest music from his ex-girlfriend but that he was not necessarily referring to that new Swift album.

The way the quote is written out, it's possible that some people might read John Mayer's words as dismissive. But it seems as though Mayer is sincere in his appreciation of Taylor Swift's 2017 album. When he calls it "a fine piece of work," the musician is paying his due respects to his fellow musician, and there is no sarcasm or mockery in his tone. While Taylor Swift and John Mayer are no longer an item, they can still appreciate each other's work.

John Mayer isn't the only celebrity who appreciated Reputation. The Batman superhero template has become one of the most popular origin story models in the realm of pop culture. Even today, from the tragic background to the wealth and the secret lair, Ben Affleck's brooding superhero remains a fixture in the comic book movie genre. However, there's another Affleck film that also meets those characteristics. In fact, the Batman model has become so well-known and well-worn that musician John Mayer recently took to social media to theorize that Ben Affleck's 2016 thriller The Accountant actually fits the definition of a Batman movie. Mayer wrote:

Broken down to its most basic elements, the Batman formula and The Accountant do share quite a bit of DNA. Like Bruce Wayne, Christian Wolff (the titular autistic accountant from Gavin O'Connor's film) is a highly-trained badass with a tragic backstory, a vast pool of wealth to finance his ass-kicking activities and even secret bases (storage space and an RV) from which he conducts his operations. By John Mayer's estimation, if we can consider Die Hard a Christmas movie, then The Accountant easily meets the requirements to be classified as a Batman movie.

Mayer also goes on to refer to Christian Wolff's brother (played by The Punisher's Jon Bernthal in The Accountant), saying that he will become Christian's arch-nemesis. Though it's not a perfect 1:1 comparison to the Batman mythos, this could potentially be a reference to Lincoln March (Batman's long lost brother) from The Court of Owls storyline, or Tommy Elliot (Bruce Wayne's childhood best friend) from the Batman: Hush storyline.

This comparison could potentially provide a certain degree of approval for Ben Affleck in his current role as Batman. In fact, when pressed by fans about whether or not his tweet served as an approval for Affleck's Batman, John Mayer responded in the affirmative and made sure to note that he's a fan of Batfleck.

The parallels between The Accountant and the Batman mythos could go a long way towards easing fan concerns over the possibility of not getting a Ben Affleck-fronted Batman solo movie. Although the actor remains cast in the role, recent reports have suggested that Affleck is currently looking for a way to "segue out" of his time as the Caped Crusader. If this means a potential recasting situation is on the horizon for Matt Reeves' Batman movie, then we can at least take solace knowing that Ben Affleck's turn as Christian Wolff offered an unorthodox (though not canon) Batman film. With all of that said, I have to admit: I kind of want to see what Christian Wolff could do as a member of a DC superhero team alongside Henry Cavill's Superman and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman.

As for the real silver screen Caped Crusader, you can catch Ben Affleck in his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Zack Snyder's Justice League, which is still in theaters.

Not long ago, Katy Perry said John Mayer was the "best lover" she had ever had. However, in a new interview, Mayer was not impressed when he heard the compliment from his former flame. The 39-year-old singer-songwriter let everyone know he had moved on and left Perry in the past. In fact, Mayer pretty much refused to indulge Perry's flattering words and told the interviewer,

Because earlier this year he was tossing out pleasantries about Katy Perry, and indicating the fallout of his relationship with the "Chained to the Rhythm" pop star was something he regretted. Mayer even said he had Perry in mind as the muse for his song "Still Feel Like Your Man," which is a breakup song about having a difficult time moving on from a past love.

Katy Perry ranked John Mayer the "best lover" in an interview with James Corden during her promotional efforts for her latest album, Witness. Corden asked the future American Idol host to rank Orlando Bloom, Diplo, and Mayer in the sack. Before listing the three men, she said all three were great lovers, and she would have sex with each of them again in the future. She ranked Mayer the best. Bloom came in second, while Diplo trailed third.

John Mayer's relationship with Katy Perry burned hot and fast. He had previously dated Taylor Swift, with whom Perry was friendly. However, only a few short years ago, Mayer's tabloid-ready relationship with one "Hot N Cold" star had us all wondering what would happen next. Now Mayer is opening up about that particular relationship in advance of his upcoming seventh studio album, The Search for Everything, which is scheduled to be released on April 14, 2017. The album includes Mayer's latest single, a soulful breakup song called "Still Feel Like Your Man," in which Mayer sings about finding it difficult to move on from a past relationship. Fans everywhere had to know who exactly inspired the song, so in a recent interview, the singer-songwriter put caution to the wind to admit that his muse was, in fact, Katy Perry.

John Mayer made the revelation in an interview with The New York Times, but we could have told you it was Katy Perry. Back in 2012, Mayer and Perry became cozy with each other after Perry's divorce from actor Russell Brand had finalized. The new couple kept things quiet, but the paparazzi still had a lot of fun tracking their moves as they bopped around, enjoying romantic dates. Nevertheless, by the spring of 2013, the pair had called it quits. At the time of the split, rumors were flying that the decision to end the relationship had come from Mayer, not Perry, but the breakup did not seem to phase her as much as him in the weeks afterward.

But, after several months, news broke from out of left field that Mayer and Perry were, in fact, in a relationship. The story was timed perfectly for the release of Mayer and Perry's duet, "Who You Love," whose music video was stocked full of people in real relationships, including the two musicians themselves. But, within weeks, the relationship had fizzled out yet again. Both artists kept things moving in a forward direction. Perry kept busy with The Prismatic World Tour and the 2015 Super Bowl Halftime Show, and Mayer went back to work crafting new music, such as "Still Feel Like Your Man," which includes the lyric, "I still keep your shampoo in my shower in case you want to wash your hair." Aw. Sad face.

According to John Mayer, "Still Feel Like Your Man" was inspired by something he calls "ancient Japanese R&B." Mayer crafted a corresponding music video with a Japanese fantasy theme that he admits could spark controversy, something which Katy Perry also knows a thing or two about because of her own occasional missteps in the direction of cultural appropriation. Ask Cosmopolitan, and they will tell you Mayer's assertion about sparking controversy was right.

Putting all of the controversies aside, we think the new song is pretty catchy. Plus, we want to focus on one of the not-so-controversial aspects of the promotions for John Mayer's latest efforts: the fact that the latest single comes from the second of three EPs that Mayer is releasing in advance of the LP. That marketing strategy seems to work really well for music makers who have been out of the spotlight for a while. Remember how Robyn made that successful comeback with her Body Talk album in 2010? Maybe John Mayer can pull off something similar this year.

Well, that's not exactly a "happy birthday"... Many people are interpreting a tweet that John Mayer posted and then quickly deleted on his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift's birthday to be a jab at his former flame.

While Taylor Swift was celebrating her 27th birthday on Tuesday, her ex John Mayer was apparently having an exceptionally dull day, and decided to share his unfiltered thoughts about Tuesday, December 13 to the world, TMZ reports. In a now-deleted tweet, Mayer called the day "the lamest day of the year." Umm, did he forget that it was his famous ex-girlfriend's birthday or was he intentionally trying to stir up some drama? You decide.

Obviously, Twitter users were quick to jump on that tweet and interpret it as shade towards Taylor Swift. John Mayer deleted the tweet, and then posted a clarification saying that he didn't mean any shade by that statement and implying that at age 39, he's too old to be playing those games.

It's hard to know what John Mayer was referring to if not Taylor Swift's birthday, though... unless he just really hates Tuesdays, winter, and the number 13 maybe. And given that Mayer has been known to throw his fair share of shade in the past, the scales do seem to tip in the favor of the tweet not being a random accident.

John Mayer and Taylor Swift dated seven years ago in 2009, but only remained an item for a little while. Judging from the music that the break-up inspired, it was not a happy split. John Mayer criticized "Dear John" a couple years later, and then released "Paper Doll," believed to be a response track asserting that Taylor Swift had overreacted to their breakup. Things between Mayer and Swift have been relatively quiet since that track was released three years ago... Could Mayer be trying to resuscitate his famous feud?

Everyone must have been expecting the bad blood to spill all over Drake's birthday bash this past Sunday, given that Taylor Swift was in attendance along with ex John Mayer and at-this-point-beyond-rumored enemy Katy Perry. But gladly, there were no angry confrontations or lyrical recitations of "Dear John" or "Bad Blood," as Swift instead opted to stay put at her table the whole night rather than mingle or leave right away.

Although Taylor Swift was apparently ready to party for Drake's 30th birthday, she instead chose to remain seated at her table with the group of friends she arrived with once she learned that both John Mayer and Katy Perry were also in attendance, an insider tells Us Weekly.

In case you aren't well versed in Taylor Swift's history with Katy Perry and John Mayer, let's just suffice it to say that it's not exactly a teenage dream or a wonderland. Swift and Mayer dated for some time in late 2009 and early 2010, but did not end things on good terms, as evidenced by Swift's diss track "Dear John" that she released a few months after the breakup. In the song, she accuses Mayer of playing emotional games with her and brings up their thirteen-year age difference (she was 19 and he was 32 when they dated).

John Mayer began dating Katy Perry a few years later in 2013, and although they broke up that same year, they've kept up a polite rapport through the years. The insider reveals that Mayer and Perry had a friendly chat at the party on Sunday. Perry's current boyfriend Orlando Bloom was not in attendance, as he is currently filming an action flick called Smart Chase: Fire & Earth in China.

But sharing an ex in John Mayer did not spell friendship for Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. In 2014, Swift accused Perry of attempting to ruin one of her tours by stealing away some of her backup dancers. This resulted in a series of subtweets between Perry and Swift, leading up to Swift's revenge track "Bad Blood," about a backstabbing former friend. The song and subsequent music video are widely believed to be targeted at Katy Perry. The feud was dredged up again this summer, after Swift's recent ex Calvin Harris brought up Perry's name in a now-deleted Twitter rant, saying that Swift was trying to "bury" his career. A couple hours later, Perry tweeted out a gif of Hillary Clinton giving a knowing look, and then retweeted her own tweet from back when "Bad Blood" was released where she wrote "Time, the ultimate truth teller."

Despite all their past beef, Katy Perry was reportedly not phased by Taylor Swift's presence at Drake's party. Apparently, she's above their famous rivalry. Well, I guess you shouldn't be holding your breath for a "Bad Blood, Pt. 2."

Katy Perry has beaten her on-again, off-again partner John Mayer to the charts this time around. Both performers have albums out this year, but its Mayer who got to put out the long-rumored duet the two worked on together. With Mayer’s latest album, Paradise Valley, set to be released this week, the singer wants everyone to know his work with Perry “is not a gimmick.”

Both Perry and Mayer are prominent in the music scene, but their individual styles differ greatly. Perry’s pop sensibilities don’t really seem to mesh with Mayer’s soft jams. In fact, he is the first to admit the duet is an unlikely collaboration. However, he says that the song, called “Who You Love,” is the sort of music that he hopes people will engage with.

Paradise Valley is the singer’s sixth studio album and the first new music the man has produced since he developed granuloma back in 2011. The vocal issues forced him to cancel tour dates on several occasions. It took him until recently to get back in the studio and record, but at least the singer is back with a vengeance. He’s been busy touring and has plans to continue into this fall. His newest album is already tracking well too.

With the long space between albums, there’s plenty of interest in Paradise Valley. Billboard is expecting the album to debut in the #2 slot after sales have been tracked for the first full week of release. While Paradise Valley is expected to push around 150,000 copies by the end of the week, the outlet doesn’t necessarily expect the singer to do better than Luke Bryan, who is on a roll with his recent album, Crash My Party.

A #2 debut seems just fine for the 35-year-old singer, who tells Billboard he measures his success by his audience rather than by his Nielsen Soundscan numbers.

With Paradise Valley appearing to strong numbers, it seems he may get both. You can order the performer’s latest album over at iTunes.

Abercrombie & Fitch is notable for marketing to a particular audience. In fact, the company takes pride in only catering to a niche market, but this time the company may have missed the mark with a shirt meant to poke fun at country and pop singer Taylor Swift. On Friday, the company opted to pull the shirt from shelves rather than deal with the ire of fans.

The shirt that was being sold was white with silver writing that read humorously like a Twitter post. The shirt read, “#more boyfriends than T.S,” obviously referring to Ms. Swift, who has been in numerous high profile romances over the past several years. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the lovely romances that have landed her in the tabloids on several occasions.

Like many a celebrity, she’s a fan of dating other famous faces. First, there was Jake Gyllenhaal, followed by John Mayer, and then Kennedy family member Conor, whose other family members apparently weren’t big fans of the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer. She was most recently seen spending time with One Direction singer Harry Styles, but that relationship inevitably bit the dust, as well. With all of these relationships in mind, A&F’s t-shirt made for a tasteless but humorous joke; regardless, Swift’s fans weren’t having it.

According to Buzzfeed, the company was inundated with phone calls about the t-shirt after it went viral. I guess it’s not enough these days to just avoid buying the t-shirt.

According to the outlet, the shirt was first made available on February and was available at a sale cost in March, with a sale price assumedly meaning that the shirt was never all that popular. Whatever the truth, the company is doing some major damage control on Twitter.

T. Swift’s popularity may not be dying down, but hopefully this controversy will. Until then, we can happily sit back and listen to John Mayer’s newest track, “Paper Doll,” which is rumored to be about Swift and the time he spent with the 22-year-old singer. Maybe we’ll get t-shirts with some of those lyrics, next.

There are a variety of attitudes and activities a person can engage in, some of them healthier than others, after a big break-up. For John Mayer, the solution seems to be to go on tour. On Friday, the 35-year-old musician announced his first tour in three years just a few days after officially declaring it splitsville with Katy Perry. Coincidence? Perhaps.

Mayer’s fans should already know about the rollercoaster that has been the singer's last couple of years. Mayer had to cancel a tour and delay an album in 2011 thanks to Granuloma, a vocal problem that’s about as pleasant as it sounds, featuring inflamed and infected nodules right near the vocal chords. In the spring of last year the man attempted to tour again, this time following surgery. Unfortunately, that tour didn’t pan out, either and the problem looked like it could be permanent until Mayer found a new doctor who attempted a wild botox injection. Now, the singer says the problem has been corrected.

Still, you would think that after years of vocal issues Mayer and his band would start slow and work their way into more gigs, but Billboard is reporting that is not the case. The singer revealed to the outlet that he will be onstage for a whopping 45 shows between this April and October. It’s crazy to think that the man couldn’t speak during certain periods over the last several years and yet he’s willing to put himself through that much vocal stress just to do the thing he loves the most. No one’s arguing the man doesn’t have the passion to pursue his goals, but I still may hold off on buying a ticket.

Katy Perry and John Mayer would have produced some talented and photogenic children, but unfortunately, it seems those beautiful little bundles of joy weren’t meant to be. The couple, who began dating this past summer, have reportedly decided to go their separate ways, though don’t expect to hear either say anything negative about the other to the press.

Mayer recently announced that he was making a concerted effort to be less of a douche when it comes to his ex-girlfriends, and perhaps more importantly, according to US Weekly, the break-up was more of a time issue than anything else. As working musicians, both parties have a ton of time commitments and need to travel. That makes spending time together extremely difficult, regardless of how many over-the-top and incredible dates are planned.

Besides, if these two are actually meant to be together, it’s probably better they take a little time apart so he’s not the rebound from her failed marriage. I’m not sure what percent of recently divorced people wind up spending a lifetime with the first person they seriously date afterwards, but I’m pretty sure this is a whole lot more common of a result than this.

Pop Blend’s sincerest thoughts go out to Mayer and Perry, whether they decide to give it another shot down the road or move forward apart. Here’s to hoping they’re each able to find the right person sooner rather than later.

Talk about epic Valentine’s Day gifts. Yesterday, John Mayer took Katy Perry out for a night on the town in Los Angeles. The two headed to the Vista Theater to catch a flick, and according to a photographer who waited outside, the couple were the only two people seen entering or leaving the building during the entire two-hour tenure Perry and Mayer were in inside. Since the theater is pretty small, the thought process is that the “Your Body is a Wonderland” singer probably rented out the entire theater for the date.

TMZ first reported the news, noting that A Good Day to Die Hard is the only flick currently playing at the theater. However, if you’re going to go to the trouble to rent out an entire theater, I would assume the theater would comply if you wanted to view something else. In fact, Perry was caught leaving with a DVD, which could mean the couple may have viewed one of her or their favorite movies.

Mayer recently spoke out to say he’s really worked on being less of a “jerk,” and if this is one of his first moves after turning a new leaf, I only expect greater things to come. Still, as cool as renting out a movie theater may be, it doesn’t compare to Justin Bieber renting out the Staples Center for a date with Selena Gomez in 2011. If anyone is a celebrity that’s put together a more impressive date than that or even just knows of a better celebrity date, let me know so I can forever sing their praises.

John Mayer has had a lot of high profile relationships with famous celebrities, none of which have ended all that well. Mayer has recorded an interview with CBS’ Anthony Mason that will air during an episode of CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood over the weekend. The singer mostly came on to talk about his recent vocal cord issues, but fans are curious about his relationship with Katy Perry and whether we may simply be in for a repeat of Mayer behaving like he’s too cool for school. To his credit, Mayer insists he’s “was a jerk” but is a totally different person, nowadays.

If Mayer’s new attitude is legitimate, Perry can breathe a little sigh of relief, because we are talking about a man who once called one of his last musical girlfriends, Simpson, “sexual napalm.” It’s possible the man has learned his lesson, though. If a person gives enough bad interviews, it becomes kind of hard to earn respect from both critics and fans. Maybe he really has turned a new leaf. If so, he’ll probably be a little less of a firecracker when interviewed.

Katy Perry and John Mayer aren’t talking about their relationship publically, but if sources close to the couple are to be believed, they’re most certainly on-again. The pair recently attended a joint birthday party of New Girl creator Elizabeth Meriwether and Hello Giggles blogger Sophia Rossi, and apparently, the two were practically joined at the hip during the festivities.

Jennifer Aniston finally seems to have found the man she’ll spend the rest of her life with. On Friday, screenwriter and actor Justin Theroux popped the question on his birthday, and his girlfriend of a little more than a year enthusiastically said yes. The official announcement made the rounds last night, and now, it’s just a matter of planning all the details and, of course, staying together.

There’s no reason to think the happy couple won’t be able to make it work. By all accounts, they fell in love almost immediately and have been spending as much time as possible together ever since. Like John Mayer, Cooper has a reputation for preferring fun over serious, longterm relationships. The Hangover star was linked to Aniston all the way back in 2009 and then again in 2011. Since neither has really addressed the dates publically, we don’t know whether there was ever any legitimate attempt to make this work from either end, but if public opinion is any gauge, it’s probably a good thing this one didn’t last. After Brad left her, sympathy for Jen was at an all-time high. The goodwill carried through the Vaughn relationship too, but once Cooper and Mayer entered the fold, many fans began to wonder if she was trying to find lasting happiness or shooting to have transient good times.

Adam Duritz

After the success of Counting Crows’ August And Everything After, lead singer Adam Duritz was a hot commodity. He was spotted frequently in and around Hollywood hotspots and linked to several beautiful actresses, two of which were oddly, Aniston and her best friend Courteney Cox. At the time, observers thought Jen and Adam had a legitimate shot of taking their relationship to the next level, but years later, it was discovered the two were a whole lot less serious than anyone thought. Despite a John Mayer concert popping up in 2011’s Friends with Benefits, the singer was out of commission due to vocal problems in the fall, cancelling tour dates and postponing his upcoming album Born and Raised, an effort that is now set for a May release. While a vocal surgery seemed to rejuvenate the performer and get his schedule back on track, the forward movement now seems to be halted, once again.

Mayer spoke out on his Tumblr today to state that he is taking an “indefinite hiatus” from performing due to further voice issues. The “Your Body is a Wonderland” singer also told fans more about the condition he has been dealing with, a granuloma on his vocal chords that he can’t seem to shake due to repeated use. While a second surgery and a lengthier time away from performing are definitely on the forefront, Mayer would like fans to know he’s going to keep on trucking and keep on writing new music.

To his credit, vocal problems are hardly something a musician wants to mess with, and while Mayer might have been able to work on preventative ways to help keep things like granola-whatevers from developing prior, he already has the condition and seems to be doing whatever it takes to get himself back into tip-top shape again. Hopefully, disappointed fans will be able to give Mayer a break, and maybe a new billed hat.
