The ongoing saga between Bam Margera and the rest of the Jackass crew, specifically Johnny Knoxville, has reared up once again with the release of Jackass: Best and Last on the 2026 movie schedule. Margera, arguably the second biggest star in the whole cast of the original show, has been estranged from Knoxville and director Jeff Tremaine for years now. The fallout really escalated in 2022 with the production of Jackass: Forever, and now Knoxville has spoken out about Margera’s lack of participation in the latest release. Bam Was Invited, But He Said No

Bam Margera’s personal problems have been well documented over the years. And according to the producers of Jackass: Forever, they were the reason he was fired from the production five years ago. That means he also didn’t appear in any new footage for the latest movie, which is a combination of “best of” bits, outtakes, and some new stunts and has been somewhat warmly received by fans and critics. Margera does appear in one outtake filmed in 2020. That wasn't really a surprise to anyone who has followed the drama for all these years, but until recently, Knoxville has been somewhat mum on the decision not to include Margera again.

When Knoxville was finally asked in an Esquire interview why Margera is only seen in the movie in old footage, he gave a pretty straightforward answer. According to Johnny, Bam turned down the offer to appear. Here’s what he said:

Margera sees things differently, of course. He has also been asked recently about not appearing in the movie. It has everything to do with Knoxville and Tremaine, according to Margera. Speaking to Rolling Stone earlier this month, he said that while he was planning on seeing Jackass: Best and Last, he said a reunion was out of the question. He told the magazine:

Those decisions, according to Margera, led to a lawsuit after Jackass: Forever, which was settled shortly after the movie was released in 2022. The legal drama has been over for some time, but it seems the lingering wounds still haven’t healed for Margera. For his part, Knoxville is seemingly taking the high road, though it doesn’t seem like the two are going to squash their beef anytime soon.

Johnny Knoxville has been hit, launched, trampled by bulls, shocked, slammed and generally treated his body like a stunt prop for more than two decades. That is the bargain Jackass made with its audience: the crew would do wildly stupid things, and viewers would laugh, cringe and occasionally wonder whether someone should call a responsible adult. But, even in a franchise built on pain, one Knoxville injury stands apart. Let's take a look at the time the iconic stuntman shared the most "psychologically damaging" stunt.

In a video shared by The Graham Norton Show’s official Instagram account, Knoxville looked back on what he considered the most psychologically stringent stunt of his career. The story came from a classic appearance on the show, but it still hits with the force of a medical chart being thrown directly into your lap. You can see the video below.

The Ringer star has talked about brutal injuries before, and fans of the franchise know the list is long. Broken bones, concussions, stitches and hospital trips are part of the mythology of the Jackass franchise. But, when Norton asked about the stunt that messed with him mentally, he did not go with one of the big animal attacks or high-impact wipeouts. He went with the time he broke his "gym dog." As he describes it:

That is a sentence that only makes sense in the Jackass universe of films and spinoffs, and somehow Knoxville delivered it with the same energy most people use to describe losing their keys. He explained that he had been trying to backflip a motorcycle, despite one fairly important problem: he could not actually ride a motorcycle. That feels like the exact kind of detail a person should probably sort out before attempting a backflip, but this is the same guy who willingly gets hit by stampeding bulls (more than once) we are talking about.

According to the Action Point lead, the bike came off the ramp, went roughly 20 feet into the air and then came down in the worst possible place. The handlebars broke into his crotch, sending him straight to the hospital and into surgery. He said the injury’s aftermath did not end when the stunt did:

There are Jackass stunts that look more violent in the moment, including Steve-O’s “Tropical Pole Vaulting” bit and its drug-fueled backstory. But that is what makes Knoxville’s injury feel uniquely awful. A bad landing is one thing. A long-term medical routine is something else entirely.

That is probably why the Dirty Grandpa performer called it psychologically damaging. The pain of the stunt itself sounds bad enough, but the ongoing reminder is the real nightmare. It is hard to file an injury away as just another funny story when it follows you into your daily life for years.

Still, this one is different. A guy getting knocked over by a bull or blasted with a paintball is one kind of Jackass pain. A failed motorcycle backflip leading to surgery and years of catheter use is a whole different chapter in the long book of terrible ideas. Johnny Knoxville has plenty of painful memories to choose from, including a brain injury thanks to a bull. But, when he says this was the most psychologically damaging, I believe him. Some stunts leave bruises, but this one apparently came with paperwork, surgery and a twice-daily reminder that maybe motorcycles should be left to people who can ride them.

The fifth and final Jackass film, Best and Last, has finally hit the 2026 movie schedule, which means a fresh round of interviews with everyone’s favorite comedians-slash-crash-test-dummies. Over the past 26 years, Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and the rest of the crew have created some of the wildest stunts in cinematic history, and everyone has their favorites, including those who actually lived through them. And recently, the creator and star celebrated one of the franchise’s all-time great bits. While the stunt itself is unforgettable, his comments also reminded me that some of the best Jackass moments come from unsuspecting bystanders who could never have prepared for the madness walking through the door.

Knoxville appeared on an episode of Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast, and the brothers asked him if there were any stunts he was surprised they actually got away with. That led him right to one of the strangest and funniest moments from the first Jackass movie. He said:

Honestly, he is not wrong. The stunt itself is absurd enough on paper, and, famously, so gnarly that Steve-O refused to do it. Dunn goes to a doctor with a toy car lodged where toy cars absolutely do not belong, and the crew lets the medical setting do the rest. But the reason the bit still works so well is that the reactions around him are priceless. You can plan the stunt, but you cannot manufacture that sort of response.

That is what makes the nurse and doctor such perfect accidental Jackass extras. They are not trying to be funny. They are not mugging for the camera or playing along too hard. They are simply processing, in real time, the fact that a grown man has walked into their office with a Matchbox-adjacent emergency and an explanation that makes no sense.

The Kelce brothers and Knoxville then started reliving some of the best lines from the sketch, including Dunn’s legendary attempt to play innocent by asking how the car got there because he did not remember eating it. Knoxville laughed while recalling the doctor’s perfect response:

That is medical professionalism under impossible circumstances—deadpan, direct and absolutely impossible to improve. Knoxville is right that you could not cast someone better. If a comedy writer invented that doctor’s delivery, it would feel too neat. Because it happened in the wild, it becomes even funnier. Proud of the skit or not, I have to agree with the longtime bull-punching bag: the toy-car butt X-ray remains one of the funniest moments in the franchise’s history. Jackass has bigger, grosser and far more physically punishing stunts, but this scene has something special: a ridiculous premise colliding with ordinary people just trying to get through a workday.

That has always been one of the sneaky strengths of Jackass. Yes, the crew is the main attraction, but the best bits often depend on how the real world reacts to them. A stunt can be disgusting, dangerous or dumb, but when a bystander lands the perfect face or line, the whole thing levitates.

After several movies and TV show spinoffs, the stunts are coming to an end with Jackass: Best and Last. The 2026 movie release is part victory lap, part greatest hits compilation, but Steve-O has his own unique way of describing the last chapter.

Every Jackass movie seemed to bring about questions of just how long the franchise could sustain itself — and how much punishment the participants’ bodies could take. We now have our answer, with Steve-O confirming Jackass: Best and Last is “one-hundred percent” the last one. In addition to some new stunts, the new movie features never-before-aired footage that couldn’t be shown in previous offerings. Steve-O told People:

There is something strangely beautiful in Steve-O’s description of their final Jackass outing being a place where all of the wayward clips found a home. In fact, critics noted how “poignant” Best and Last is, as well, celebrating 26 years of friendship in the best way they know how — with more Jackass nudity, pain, pranks and lots and lots of laughter.

Steve-O, Johnny Knoxville, Wee Man and Chris Pontius are all in their 50s now, and after so many years of putting their bodies through the kind of “f---ed-up sh-t” that Jackass requires, this does seem like an appropriate finish line.

Steve-O even said when confirming that there will be no more after Best and Last that “you can't really do Jackass” after the bull injury that Johnny Knoxville (who refuses to go by his “venereal disease” real name) suffered in 2020 while filming Jackass Forever.

Johnny Knoxville was gored by a bull (twice) while filming the franchise’s fourth movie, resulting in injuries that included broken ribs, a concussion and brain hemorrhage. He’d already suffered 16 concussions from previous exploits, and he took months to recover — both physically and mentally — from the bull incident.

As such, it’s no surprise that the actor wasn’t able to participate in any big, new stunts for Jackass: Best and Last, because he couldn’t risk getting hit in the head again.

That doesn’t mean the new movie plays it safe, by any means. Steve-O and the others still take their hits, and thanks to the inclusion of some classic clips, audiences even get to see Bam Margera, who was fired from the franchise during Jackass Forever filming, and Ryan Dunn, who died in a car crash in 2011.

Jackass: Best and Last is resonating with critics, as they praise what looks like the definitive end of their legacy as amateur stuntmen and pranksters. The movie gets into the early days of the franchise, so I guess it's only fitting that host Johnny Knoxville explained why he uses his current name rather than his given one.

Knoxville spoke about his original name on the red carpet, which was then shared on Instagram. The actor didn't mince words when it came to avoiding his actual name, as he said there's no escaping the fact that it's a nickname for a known venereal disease:

Yes, it seems that Knoxville was more than willing to go by a different name publicly so as not to encourage comparisons to the STI, gonorrhea. Honestly, I don't think it would necessarily be off-brand if he had stuck with PJ Clapp and done Jackass, since the group has engaged in some wildly gross stunts before.

As for the origin of the name Johnny Knoxville, it's widely reported that he used his middle name, "John", and his hometown is Knoxville, Tennessee. As someone who grew up close enough to that area to know its name before Jackass became a thing, I used to think maybe his family was the founders of the town. It makes a lot more sense in hindsight that he just changed his name, and now I'm sure few people actually remember him as PJ Clapp.

There's probably even some fans who only just now learned his real name, as Jackass: Best And Last is in theaters. The movie leans into becoming a documentary of sorts, chronicling the history of the cast as well as featuring outlandish stunts. I'm really hyped to see it, even though I'm a bit bummed Bam Margera didn't return to be a part of the final movie. Bam's parents, Phil and April, were present at the premiere in place of their son.

Now that I think about it, there are plenty of people in the Jackass crew who don't go by their real name. At this point, I doubt anyone is calling the crew's wildest stuntman Steve-O his real name of Stephen, or calling Wee Man by his first name of Jason. Those names have become badges of honor for them, even when they're discussing serious subjects, and I think there are a couple generations of adults who would agree they earned those nicknames with all the injuries they endured along the way.

Jackass: Best and Last is in theaters right now. I'm excited to see it, and say goodbye to the old guard while crossing my fingers the newer members step up and keep the legacy going.

Jackass was famously the subject of a bidding war before the show even aired a single episode. MTV, Comedy Central and FX all liked the pitch enough to make offers, and at one point, Saturday Night Live even got involved. Star Johnny Knoxville and his producing partners Spike Jonze and Jeff Tremaine of course went with MTV, but that hasn’t stopped fans from playing the what-if game for the last quarter century, especially about SNL.

Well, it turns out the sketch comedy offer was a little different than at least I had realized. Ahead of Jackass: Best And Last, an old Howard Stern interview with Knoxville has gone viral in which the subject of Saturday Night Live came up. The actor said he met with showrunner Lorne Michaels, who offered him three to five minutes of airtime each episode, but he ultimately turned it down because apparently it wasn’t for Jackass. It was for him and wouldn’t have included the rest of the crew.

For some reason in my mind, I envisioned a weekly stunt or prank that involved Knoxville and the other guys, but this makes a lot more sense given how SNL casts work. It apparently would have just been the lead actor himself doing some bit of craziness.

I’m sure that would have been funny and blown the minds of network TV audiences who would have been shocked, but that wouldn’t have been Jackass as we know it. That would have just been Knoxville doing his thing. I wonder if he would have gotten the chance to appear in other sketches like a traditional cast member too. He’s hosted the show before so we know he would have been able to pull it off.

This might sound out of left field for Saturday Night Live. In some ways, it obviously is a big departure from the heart of the show, but it’s not quite as crazy as it might seem. There’s definitely an established pattern of SNL partnering with comedians to do something other than traditional sketch comedy.

When the show first premiered, it included a more adult version of The Muppets that Jim Henson created. There have also been plenty of filmmaking duos who have made weekly shorts for the show that are pre-taped with The Lonely Island probably being the most prominent example.

I’m sure SNL would have loved to get in on the Jackass phenomenon, but we should all be happy that it worked out the way it did. Arguably the best part of the entire franchise is the chemistry and love between the leads. Everyone laughing at each other helps the audience feel okay with laughing, and the show and subsequent movies also benefited from having a high number of sketches in order to play to different comedic tastes. Some people want to see Knoxville attach bottle rockets to roller skates. Some people want to see Steve-O get stung by bees, and some people want to see Pontius dance for random people. It’s an eclectic vibe.

It will be the end of an era when Jackass: Best and Last hits the 2026 movie schedule this weekend, as Johnny Knoxville’s franchise comes to a close after more than a quarter-century of dangerous, vomit-inducing and nudity-heavy stunts. An entire generation has grown up watching Steve-O, Wee Man and more risk their lives for a laugh, but there’s one misconception that Knoxville would like to clear up.

Jackass: Best and Last is getting surprisingly positive feedback from critics, as the final movie in the series combines classic clips, never-before-seen footage and new stunts. It’s a greatest hits collection that shows how, for 26 years, these guys have put their bodies through things that no sober, clear-thinking person would … right? Apparently, that’s not the case, and while Johnny Knoxville admits there’s been a lot of partying over the years, it didn’t happen while they filmed. He told Esquire:

Johnny Knoxville knows all too well how dangerous what they do is — pointing out that Jackass stunts, unlike Tom Cruise’s in Mission: Impossible, are set up to fail. As a result, Knoxville suffered 16 concussions even before the catastrophic bull injury that left him with brain damage. In fact, that prevented him from performing any extreme stunts in the new movie, because he can’t risk getting hit in the head again. Drugs and alcohol definitely have no place in a situation that’s already that dangerous.

They may not have been imbibing or using when they did the stunts, but the Jackass crew has seen its share of substance abuse issues. Steve-O has credited Johnny Knoxville with helping him get sober in 2008, with Knoxville calling him “extremely brave” for making that choice every day — strong words, given what they do for a living.

Substance abuse is also reportedly the reason behind Johnny Knoxville and Bam Margera’s falling out. The latter was fired from Jackass Forever, reportedly due to his alcoholism, which led Margera to file a lawsuit against Knoxville, Paramount and others.

Some truly scary times followed, in which Bam Margera was in and out of rehab, and he’d post alarming social media messages and then go missing. Now, however, Margera seems to be in a much better place, as his parents recently offered a positive update on his sobriety journey.

It’s actually a relief to know that Johnny Knoxville and the rest apparently had strict rules against being drunk or high when doing stunts, because at least if they’re going to be putting themselves in such ridiculous and dangerous situations, they’re doing it with a clear mind.

We may not see any new extreme stunts from Bam Margera or Johnny Knoxville in Jackass: Best and Last, but thanks to the “greatest hits” nature of the movie, we’ll still see them in some gems from the past — including behind-the-scenes footage of the bull incident that sidelined Knoxville.

The Jackass franchise has been around for over a quarter of a century, which is unimaginable when you think of all the punishment that Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius and the rest of their gang have inflicted on themselves. Either way, one final round is hitting the 2026 movie calendar in Jackass: Best and Last, bringing more nudity and stunts to the big screen. It sounds like there’s something more, though, because reviews are out and critics are describing the fifth and final movie in a way I’d never have expected.

“Poignant” is not a term I’d associate with the Jackass franchise, but with its stars now in their 50s, there’s a higher price to pay for some of the stunts they’ve pulled, and Jackass: Best and Last seems to know it, according to the critics. Johnny Knoxville, for instance, can’t get hit in the head anymore after the “catastrophic” bull injury we witnessed in the last movie. David Ehrlich of IndieWire gives the swan song a B, writing that this greatest hits album sprinkled with new stunts “cements the franchise as a vital piece of American history.” He says:

Todd Gilchrist of The Wrap poetically writes that, “Of all of the things to be tugged at in Jackass: Best and Last, the one that fans may least expect is their heartstrings." The movie combines new stunts with classic favorites, and even Johnny Knoxville gets choked up at the emotion of ending this chapter. Gilchrist’s review of Jackass: Best and Last reads:

Guy Lodge of Variety says while this final outing is “oddly poignant,” it would be a mistake to expect anything too sentimental from this group. Jackass 5 relives lots of the franchise’s best moments of humiliation and pain, with new bits that the critic says can almost stand side-by-side with the classics. In Lodge’s words:

Hannah Strong of Little White Lies writes that she enjoyed the new footage of Johnny Knoxville’s bull stunt and other behind-the-scenes footage, because it gives insight into how far the gang was willing to go for the show. The interviews, as well, highlight how important the friendships are to ensure Jackass remains funnier than mean. More of that would have been welcome, but Strong has no real complaints about this final outing:

The use of archival footage allows Bam Margera to be included in Jackass: Best and Last, as well as Ryan Dunn, who died in a car crash in 2011. I certainly didn’t expect the end of Jackass to be described as emotional — or “poignant” — especially after seeing in the previews what new stunts await.

And with the first trailer drop for Jackass: Best and Last, we’ve gotten a good idea just what this blend of old and new means for what will (supposedly) be the final Jackass movie, which will hit the 2026 movie schedule on June 26th. It also means we’re going to see all of the key members of the Jackass crew, like Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and Chris Pontius, plus the late Ryan Dunn and the exiled Bam Margera.

Bam Didn’t Film Anything

Jackass: Best and Last is the first movie that Margera didn’t actually film anything for. He didn’t do much in the last movie, Jackass Forever, as his personal issues led to his firing from the production pretty early on. That estrangement has continued, often very publicly, for four years since the last movie was released, and he was never part of the new footage filmed here. That doesn’t mean he won’t be in the new movie.

That’s because the new movie, as I mentioned, is a blend of new stunts, greatest hits, and never-before-seen outtakes of past Jackass productions. This includes, it appears, all the previous movies and even the original MTV show. Margera was a huge part of the first three Jackass movies (available to watch with a Paramount+ subscription) and, of course, the original show. That means we could be seeing quite a bit of Margera in this newest one.

What Is The State Of Margera’s Friendship With Johnny Knoxville?

There has been a lot of bad blood between Margera and Johnny Knoxville, though, to be fair, it has mostly come from Margera. The former skater has been pretty open both about his struggles with substance abuse and how he feels about Knoxville and Jackass director Jeff Tremaine. Knoxville was asked about the state of the relationship in February in an interview with Rolling Stone, and Knoxville replied:

However, the feeling doesn’t seem mutual. While Margera has said he supports the use of old footage, his feelings towards the powers that be at Jackass are still as sharp as barbed wire. In January, shortly after it was announced that he would indeed appear in the old footage, Margera told TMZ:

This is a dispute where sides have been taken, both with the members of Jackass and with the fans, but for me, as a fan, I’m just glad I’ll get to see some moments from a time when the whole crew was getting along and creating some of the funniest moments of the early 21st century.

Look, I’m beyond excited that Jackass 5 is on the way but ever since it landed a spot on the 2026 movie schedule, I’ve had a few questions. Now, thanks to one truly asinine (and yes, pun absolutely intended) injury involving one cast member, I somehow have even more queries. And, if you're wondering why, it's because said co-star hurt their finger while trying to retrieve a coin from someone else’s butt. (Yes, you read that right.)

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Johnny Knoxville casually dropped what might be one of the most bizarre injury stories tied to the franchise yet. And, considering the history here of the franchise's most stomach-turning moments, that’s really saying something. Knoxville revealed that longtime Jackass cast member Dave England suffered a pretty serious injury while filming a pretty un-serious stunt:

Okay, first question: What was the coin doing in said butt? Second question: Why was Dave England fishing it out with his fingers? Third question: How? Just. How?

What makes the whole thing even more surreal is that Knoxville himself seemed genuinely baffled by how the injury even happened. (Honestly, same here.) But, when Fallon asked him how something like that could even occur, the Old Grandpa performer had the perfect response:

Jackass has always thrived on chaos, pain, and increasingly ridiculous setups, but there’s usually some kind of logic to how things go wrong. Here, even the guy who helped build the franchise is struggling to explain it.

At this point, injuries are practically part of the package. From broken bones to concussions and even brain injuries thanks to bulls, the franchise has built its reputation on pushing limits and dealing with the consequences. Still, even by those standards, this latest story feels especially unhinged.

Dave England may not be the first name people think of when they think Jackass, but he’s been there since the beginning, often taking on some of the messier, or shall we say “browner,” more extreme bits. He famously used a hardware store display toilet exactly as intended in the first movie, and then there’s the unforgettable “Poo-Cano.” What starts as a peaceful shot of a model train set quickly turns into something else entirely, as a mountain is revealed to be England mid-stunt, ending in a chaotic (and very on-brand) explosion of feces that’s as foul as it is weirdly memorable.

Still, digging around in someone’s backside to retrieve a coin feels extreme even by Jackass stunt standards, but ending in a torn ligament? That’s a whole other level. Which brings me to one final question: how in the world does Zach Holmes’ rear end have that kind of grip strength? Actually, never mind. I don’t need that answer.

If nothing else, this latest incident is a pretty clear reminder of what fans can expect from Jackass 5. The franchise isn’t slowing down. If anything, it sounds like they’re still finding new ways to outdo themselves. The crew is doing exactly what they’ve always done—pushing boundaries, making each other laugh, and occasionally ending up in the hospital along the way.

Knoxville recently looked back on the brutal bull stunt that left him with a severe concussion and a recovery that stretched on for months. Also, the Dukes of Hazzard alum made it clear that the toll wasn’t isolated to him alone. When asked how it affected his family, he admitted the recovery was “hard on anyone around me.” For a man who has built a persona around absorbing punishment, that acknowledgment feels especially vulnerable.

Knoxville explained that during those months, even reassurance didn’t penetrate the fog. Friends and loved ones would insist that his brain was playing tricks on him but, from his perspective, the fear felt completely real. The inability to trust your own thoughts is one of the most unsettling aspects of traumatic brain injury. Thankfully, he eventually sought medical help. He added:

Now 55 and preparing for what he says will be the final Jackass film, Knoxville has spoken more openly about the long-term consequences of his stunt work; he even has documented brain damage. He’s acknowledged that he can’t mess around with bulls anymore. Not because he doesn’t love the chaos, he’s admitted bulls are still his favorite, but because the cost has become too high.

As the final Jackass movie approaches, it’s clear Knoxville understands the risks differently. The way he describes his mind “turning against” him is a reminder to us fans that the craziest stunts can linger even after the cameras stop rolling. Jackass 5 is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.

Johnny Knoxville has never exactly been subtle about what the Jackass franchise is selling: chaos, camaraderie, and the kind of stunts that make you cover your eyes even when you’ve seen them before. But as the upcoming Jackass 5 gets ready to arrive on the 2026 movie calendar this summer, and as Knoxville insists this is truly the final feature, he’s also acknowledging something the franchise doesn’t love to talk about. The older you get, the less people want to see your penis. That’s right, Johnny Knoxville is opening up about how much nudity will be in the fifth and final installment of the series.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the 55-year-old Jackass co-creator looked back on more than 25 years of self-inflicted mayhem, the injuries (and concussions) that come with it, and the weird little “rules” that formed along the way. This includes the long-running tradition of male nudity that somehow became as essential to the brand as shopping carts and bulls. Knoxville’s take on the nudity question is peak him:

That one quote pretty much explains the entire Jackass creative process. They’ll make a sincere attempt at restraint, but restraint isn’t funny. Think of male nudity as the special sauce of a Jackass stunt, if you will.

For longtime fans, the escalation of nudity has almost become a running joke within the franchise itself. Each installment seems to push things a little further, not necessarily because it needs to, but because the group’s internal logic often lands on the same conclusion, and that is that it’s just funnier with nudity.

The entire crew of Jackass has racked up their share of brutal injuries--one member, “Danger” Ehren McGhehey, actually ended up with a ruptured testicle. Still, Knoxville, now 55, has been increasingly candid about the physical toll the series has taken on him in particular. Sixteen documented concussions, multiple fractures, and that notoriously brutal bull hit in Jackass Forever that left him with brain damage have forced him to reevaluate what he can and should keep doing. That includes showing his nearly six-decade-old “gym dog.”

That self-awareness adds a different texture to the upcoming film. While the crew is reportedly about 80% locked on stunt ideas, the Fear Factor: House of Fear host has acknowledged that this will be the “natural place to end.” The fifth movie is being positioned as the last official installment, a final burst of mayhem before they (allegedly) hang up the jockstraps for good.

Of course, “never again” has been said before. But there’s a noticeable shift in tone this time. Knoxville has spoken openly about stepping back from certain high-risk stunts due to concussions and long recovery periods. Bulls, in particular, once his specialty, are largely off the table.

That makes the conversation about nudity oddly symbolic. If the franchise began as fearless twenty-somethings launching themselves at danger (and each other), it now features men who are acutely aware of their mortality, and their audience’s tolerance. Yet, despite the self-deprecation, the core formula doesn’t appear to be changing dramatically. Knoxville admitted that even when they try to dial back the exposed anatomy, the comedy math rarely works in their favor. If there’s an option between clothed chaos and naked chaos, the latter tends to win.

Whether Jackass 5 ends up being a triumphant sendoff or, as Knoxville jokingly suggested elsewhere in the interview, a “train wreck,” one thing seems certain, and that's that the guys are still committed to making themselves the punchline. Jackass 5 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.

One of the most visceral and horrific things that ever happened during a Jackass movie came in Jackass Forever when Johnny Knoxville, bravely, foolhardily, or both, went up against a bull at the tender age of 50 during filming. Johnny vs. The Bull left him horrifically bruised, with a broken rib, brain hemorrhage, concussion, and an additional broken wrist. In short, he’s not allowed to do this sort of thing anymore.

Yet, another Jackass film is still coming, with Knoxville at the forefront. The enterprising leader, now 54, has handed off a lot of the more over-the-top stunts to younger newcomers, particularly in Jackass Forever, but he’s still coming back, baby. He just knows he “can’t get hit in the head anymore,” telling Syndicate X Library about the upcoming installation:

Just a few days ago Knoxville dropped a post officially announcing Jackass 5 was in the pipeline. The news was pretty much out of nowhere, but wasn't a huge surprise, given Steve-O is still out there saying he wants to make "Tom Cruise look like a big, fat p---y" when it comes to stunt work. This is coming from a man who once had third degree burns on 15% of his body.

Knoxville's a bit of a different case. His injuries on the last movie are well-documented, too, but he's a little less bullish about his future in the stunt world. The trailer for Jackass Forever highlighted him getting wrecked by a bull. He later said he doesn't regret it, even with the brain damage that was documented after. In fact, even with the doctor ordering him to avoid concussions, I don't think it's the most brutal injury the man ever suffered in order to make his art.

Johnny Knoxville Had An Even Gnarlier Injury Than The Bull Stunt

In Jackass Presents: Mat Hoffman’s Tribute to Evel Knievel, the stuntman attempted a bike stunt that went awry when the bike could not complete a backflip. Instead it landed, hard, directly on his private parts.

Knoxville would later telling Variety he "broke his Jim dog," but that's underselling what happened. His penis broke, he tore his urethra, and he needed a catheter for three plus years after the accident. It was less dangerous to his personal health than the concussions, but certainly more of a graphic and brutal injury.

Honestly, because of this and the other many other ill-advised Jackass stunts over the years, he said the bull stunt was the last time we'll ever see him take on something so big. Yet, after questions and rumors, Jackass 5 is coming because they are younger guys coming in now to take on some of the heavy lifting.

Jackass ultimately is in Johnny Knoxville's blood. He got brutally honest about why he got in the game this week, noting he literally made a "career out of failing."

And so, Jackass 5 marches forward, a little engine that could, even when it probably shouldn't. Personally, I can't wait.

Fear Factor was an iconic competition show back in the early aughts, forcing contestants to face their fears in pursuit of a grand cash prize. Facing those fears wasn't for the faint of heart, with challenges ranging from physically challenging to downright disgusting. It was fun to vicariously watch from the fear-free safety of the couch back in the day, but why am I talking about that series at this point in the 2025 TV schedule? Well, Fear Factor is coming back, with a new network and a new host who already seems like the perfect fit.

Yes, Fear Factor is returning, more than a year after rumors began to circulate about another reboot. The new version comes to Fox with the working title of Fear Factor: The Next Chapter, with Jackass vet Johnny Knoxville stepping up as host. This wouldn't just be a repeat of the version of the show that aired on NBC for six seasons from 2001-2006 under host Joe Rogan. In a statement, President of FOX Television Network Michael Thorn commented on Knoxville being tapped as the new host:

According to Fox's announcement, the brand new format will feature strangers dropped into an "unforgiving, remote location" and living together while also facing stunts, challenges, and – of course – fears. Throw in social strategy, and only one contestant will end the season with a grand cash prize. Fear Factor: The Next Chapter is slated to air on Fox in the 2025-2026 TV season.

In the meantime, it's not hard to find episodes from the original run of Fear Factor to scratch the itch. Seasons are available streaming with a Hulu subscription, a Peacock subscription, and an Amazon Prime Video subscription. At this point, however, my mind isn't so much on revisiting episodes from the early 2000s, but rather considering the criteria for getting cast.

To be clear – I watched enough of the original series to know that there's no reality in which I would ever want to be a contestant, but I did check out the elibigility requirements for open casting. The listing states that the show is looking "for people of all ages (18+) who are ready to face their fears and prove FEAR IS NOT A FACTOR." Applications are open to people over the age of 18 from the U.S. and Canada. Along with standard questions like name, age, and location, required questions in the application include:

There have been all kinds of different eras throughout WWE’s history. The New Generation, the Attitude Era, the Ruthless Aggression phase, the PG-TV days, and others quickly come to mind. But one that is thankfully mostly forgotten these days is the WWE Raw Celebrity Host era between 2009 and 2014. Celebrity involvement in WWE has always been a thing going back to WrestleMania 1, but the company went overboard over a decade ago, and so many random names hosted or appeared on the flagship show.

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne were inescapable in the 2000s, so it was only natural for the pair to host an episode of Monday Night Raw in November 2009. Their Raw’s Got Talent segment is without a doubt one of the worst things to ever happen on Raw, which is saying something.

Anyone who watched Jackass Forever in 2022 knows that it generally felt like the hits were coming harder while the guys were going less hard, if that makes sense. While the majority of the stunts weren’t nearly as reckless as past iterations of the franchise (many of the guys are also sober now), even with young blood added, the main cast is much older. There was nothing that really hammered home this concept more than Johnny Knoxville choosing to get into a ring with a bull again, to disastrous results.  

Now, he's spoken about how he feels and whether a potential Jackass 5 could touch on this sort of sketch again. 

Jackass’ History With Bull Stunts On The Big Screen 

Through the history of Jackass, bulls have been a mainstay. In every single Jackass movie to date, there has been a bull-related segment. In the first movie, the plot of the stunt was pretty straightforward, with members of the cast being tasked to simply step in a ring and work things out with a bull. In Jackass Number Two, the plot was amped up considerably, with four of the guys on a sort of seesaw trying to outwit one another as an angry bull charged around. 

Jackass 3D has what is probably the funniest bull sketch, in my opinion, where Johnny Knoxville dresses up in paint camouflaged to look like a farm setting (but with a giant target literally painted on his back). 

But when Jackass 3D came out in 2010, Knoxville was not even 40 yet. By 2022, when Jackass Forever came out, the funnyman and stunt performer was over 50. Honestly, that’s a big difference in terms of agility and your body's fragility, but he ultimately went for it in the fourth movie anyway. 

Frankly, the stunt is harrowing, the bull is bigger and angrier and we see a shot of Steve-O looking concerned (after admitting on cam he hates this stunt more than anything else the gang does) before Knoxville is literally plowed down and knocked out. It’s all shown on camera and it led to the stuntman going to the hospital. Knoxville's spoken openly about dealing with brain damage after the incident, though he’s said he doesn’t regret it. 

The Promise Johnny Knoxville Has Made His Kids

We’ll get more into the major injury Knoxville suffered on the set of Jackass Forever in just a minute, but Knoxville has also spoken out about why he felt like there needed to be a bull stunt in the latest movie in the franchise. He said he knew it would be probably his last opportunity to actually do the big stunts, even if Jackass 5 ever gets made.

Now, though, he's made a “promise” to his kids that he wouldn’t put himself at risk for any more concussions – if he ever does major stunt work again. During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, he told Fallon the specific agreement he’d made with his family.  

It makes sense. Knoxville has said  the stunt was ill-conceived from the start and the bull was simply not excited about his antics this time around. 

Director Jeff Tremaine admitted the stunt knocked the actor out for 3-4 minutes in the same interview with Variety. And Steve-O called watching Johnny Knoxville put his body at the mercy of a bull a “bummer.” While he sounds a bit more committed to his own personal safety moving forward, he hasn’t stopped writing down Jackass ideas, also telling Fallon: 

Listen, I get why Knoxville wanted to commit to a bull stunt for one final movie, particularly given a lot of the stunts in the last film were a bit tamer and this stunt did up the ante in regards to danger a bit. While I’m happy for him that he doesn’t look back and regret his choice, I’m also happy his kids have committed him to keeping two feet firmly planted outside of a bull ring moving forward. 

Sami Zayn only just defeated Gunther at WrestleMania 40 for the Intercontinental Championship, and he already has past rivals lining up for a chance to make him defend that title. That queue includes one totally unexpected name, as even Johnny Knoxville recently talked about being up for a return to the ring for a rematch with the champ at a future WrestleMania. I couldn't be more on board with this idea.

For those who are not in the loop, Johnny Knoxville became one of the many celebrities to appear at WrestleMania as part of a WM38 feud he had with wrestler Sami Zayn. His match was predicated by a Royal Rumble appearance that set the stage for a performance that could likely only be pulled off by the Jackass star. Fans enjoyed it, so I think it's great that Knoxville immediately got into character when ComicBook.com asked him about Zayn, indicating he'd be up for another match:

Johnny Knoxville keeping it kayfabe regarding his feelings about Sami Zayn just points to how much he enjoyed that match at WrestleMania 38, which is available to stream with a Peacock Premium subscription. All I can think about is when Zayn was trapped in the giant mouse trap, and how it was a moment that only works as a WWE stunt with the Jackass guys involved. If anyone else tried something chaotic like that in the ring, it likely wouldn't go over as well with wrestling fans.

Fortunately, Knoxville has made a career out of doing wild and outlandish stunts, which is largely the reason Jackass 5 won't happen. The risk of head injuries has made the actor less willing to hurt himself for the entertainment of others, though it does still seem like he's willing to take some risk if it means stepping into a WWE ring once again.

The real question is whether that would happen against Sami Zayn anytime soon. Zayn defeating Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship was a huge deal for the WWE, ending the latter's historic 666-day reign. Back when Zayn feuded with Knoxville, he held more of a jokey status as a mid-carder in the WWE, which made it easier to pull off.

Two years later, in a new era of the WWE, I'd question if the brand is willing to have one of its biggest champions take nutshots and pranks from Johnny Knoxville at upcoming WWE events. Doing so could diminish all the work Gunther put in to elevate the Intercontinental Championship, which will hopefully continue to exist as a relevant title with big names circling it going forward.

One scenario I could see is if Johnny Knoxville returned is a feud with someone like The Miz, who just won the tag-team titles with R-Truth. With the pairing of those three, and maybe another supporting Jackass star, that would be a really fun feud. Wee Man body slammed Sami Zayn way back when, so maybe he'd be a good tag-team partner for Knoxville?

I'll continue brainstorming possibilities and tune in for SmackDown on Fox on Fridays at 8:00 p.m. ET. I don't expect to see Johnny Knoxville appear there anytime soon, but with the new era of WWE as good as it has been, I don't want to miss a single episode!

From spinoff shows to WrestleMania appearances to lucrative tours to dream acting roles with Danny DeVito and others, several members of the Jackass crew have found incredible success outside the franchise that made them famous. Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O in particular have achieved heights neither one likely ever thought possible, but that doesn’t mean fans won’t always still be clamoring for more classic Jackass shenanigans. There’s just something nostalgic and loveable about the movies that fans can’t get away from; so, it should come as no surprise that Steve-O recently sat for an interview and was asked about whether a fifth movie is going to happen.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, the beloved stuntman was asked what the chances are we’ll see all the guys together to shoot another film. Unfortunately, this update may not have been what some fans were looking for. He said there haven’t been any conversations about another film and pointed to his co-star Johnny Knoxville’s brain injury on the set of Jackass Forever as a reason they’re taking it easy.

The line between comedy and traumatic injury has always been a little fuzzier than a doctor would recommend on Jackass. Many of the group’s best bits have involved someone putting their body at serious risk, but as many in the group have gotten older and more sober, the risks of that recklessness have come more to the forefront. That was especially true while filming the terrific Jackass Forever when a stunt with a bull went wrong and Knoxville ended up in the hospital with a concussion and brain damage that required months of rehab and antidepressants. Steve-O has been open about how much the Jackass stunt stuck with him, and even more than a year later, he's clearly shook up about it.

Steve-O and company have given fans plenty of footage over the years. They should definitely not make another Jackass movie if they don’t want to. Recovering from an injury in your late 40s and early 50s, as most of the guys are now, is way harder than doing so in your 20s. That being said, I hope they do realize that a lot of what so many of us loved about watching them wasn’t the injuries. 

It was watching them hang out and bond through awkward and uncomfortable circumstances. Some of their best bits are more clever than scary, and at some point down the road, if they ever wanted to make a movie that involved less physical violence and more pranks and awkward hijinks, many of us would be there.  

Over the years, WrestleMania has given us some of the electrifying matches of all time, iconic moments that we’re still talking about years (and decades) later, and more pageantry than anyone could ever imagine. But the one thing that separates the “Granddaddy of Them All” from your normal wrestling show is the event’s history with celebrity guests, who do everything from make brief appearances or participate in unforgettable matches.

Below is a list of the 35 celebrities who have appeared at WrestleMania, which dates back to WWE’s first pop culture event in 1985 and going all the way to its most recent running in April 2023. From WWE Hall of Famers to guests you may have forgotten, this is quite a list… 

Mr. T (WrestleMania)

We couldn’t kick off our list of WrestleMania celebrity guests with anyone but Mr. T., the star of The A-Team and Rocky III who sided with Hulk Hogan in the main event of the first “Showcase of the Immortals” back in 1985. His tag match with the Hulkster vs. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff wasn’t a wrestling clinic, but the spectacle of the headlining bout helped make WrestleMania the success story we know today.

Mike Tyson (WrestleMania XIV)

Mike Tyson may have had the quickest three-count in WWE history when he served as the guest enforcer in the WrestleMania XIV match that saw “Stone Cold” Steve Austin dethrone Shawn Michaels for the championship, but it’s still an outstanding moment 25 years later. The controversial boxing figure certainly made the 1998 event one to remember, even before he turned on his D-Generation X ally.

Cyndi Lauper (WrestleMania)

Cyndi Lauper, who was instrumental in the Rock 'n' Wrestling boom of the mid 1980s, also played a key role in the inaugural WrestleMania event. From her great backstage promo with the late “Mean” Gene Okerlund to standing in the corner of Wendi Richter when she defeated Leilani Kai to win the WWE Women’s Championship, the “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” singer was everywhere that night.

Snoop Dogg (WrestleMania 39)

Snoop Dogg has played a role in four different WrestleMania events over the years, but his most recent appearance at the 2023 “Super Bowl of Wrestling” has to be his best. There’s a case to be made for WrestleMania 39 being the best of all time, and the prolific West Coast rapper was key to that success. After Shane McMahon injured himself entering the ring, Snoop saved the segment when he pulled an audible and hit the Miz with a ridiculous “People’s Elbow.”

Muhammad Ali (WrestleMania)

Mike Tyson wasn’t the first boxer to make his presence felt at WrestleMania. That honor falls on the late, great Muhammad Ali, who served as the guest referee in the event’s first headlining bout. There’s even a moment where the boxing legend was standing in the ring with Hulk Hogan, Mr. T, and Liberace. Wrestling is wild sometimes.

Ozzy Osbourne (WrestleMania 2)

WrestleMania 2, which was the only edition in the event’s history to take place in three separate cities, saw a great number of celebrity guests throughout the night. One of the best definitely has to be Ozzy Osbourne, who served as the British Bulldogs’ manager when the team of Davey Boy Smith and the Dynamite Kid captured the gold in the Chicago’s Rosemont Horizon.

Pete Rose (WrestleMania XV)

One of the best running WrestleMania gags of the late 1990s and early 2000s was Pete Rose getting tombstoned by Kane. The controversial Cincinnati Reds legend, who was barred from MLB after a gambling scandal, showed up as the San Diego Chicken at WrestleMania XV in 1999 and was once again confronted by the “Big Red Machine,” who quickly put him in his place to the roar of the Philadelphia crowd.

Johnny Knoxville (WrestleMania 38)

The Jackass crew has a long history with WWE, and one of the genuinely best chapters in that story is Johnny Knoxville’s bout against Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 38. The “Anything Goes” match, which was one of the most memorable contests on the two-day card, had no business being so good. Combining old school wrestling storytelling with Jackass gags (like a giant hand and a mouse trap), the showdown became an instant classic.

Ray Charles (WrestleMania 2)

Some of the greatest singers of all time have lent their voices to WWE over the years, including Ray Charles. The beloved singer known for hits like “Georgia on My Mind,” “Hit the Road Jack,” and “I Got a Woman” performed “America the Beautiful” to kick off WrestleMania 2.

Bob Uecker (WrestleMania IV)

Milwaukee Brewers radio broadcaster (and Major League star) Bob Uecker has quite the history at WrestleMania, as he has popped up three times in the event’s history. It all started with WrestleMania III when “Mr. Baseball” helped out on commentary, but the next year's event saw one of the most classic moments in WWE history when Andre the Giant gave Uecker an interview he'll never forget.

Aretha Franklin (WrestleMania III)

In addition to all her hit songs, iconic movie moments, and other achievements, Aretha Franklin appeared at two WrestleMania events throughout her life, both of which were held in or near her hometown of Detroit, Michigan. The late singer performed “America the Beautiful” at WrestleMania III in the Pontiac Silverdome and then again 20 years later at Ford Field.

Bad Bunny (WrestleMania 37)

Rapper-turned-wrestler-turned-actor Bad Bunny made his in-ring wrestling debut at WrestleMania 37 where he teamed with Damian Priest to take on the Miz and John Morrison in a winning effort. He has since returned to the ring on multiple occasions and continues to improve as a performer.

Gladys Knight (WrestleMania IV) 

Seven-time Grammy winner Gladys Knight is another legendary singer who has been a part of the WrestleMania festivities over the years. Knight showed up at WrestleMania IV in 1988 to perform the customary “America the Beautiful” to nearly 20,000 fans in attendance at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City.

Run-D.M.C. (WrestleMania V)

A few years before WWE superstars performed the “WrestleMania” song, hip hop legends Run-D.M.C. hit the ring with a rap of their own at WrestleMania V in April 1989. The “WrestleMania Rap” was created for the event and was performed by the group in the middle of the ring in front of thousands of screaming fans. 

Pat McAfee (WrestleMania 38)

Former Indianapolis Colts punter and current sports talk legend Pat McAfee has had quite the history in WWE the past few years, including some pretty stellar in-ring moments. Perhaps the biggest came at WrestleMania 38 when he challenged Vince McMahon to a match after defeating Austin Theory. Though Mr. McMahon won the bout (due to some shenanigans), McAfee, with the help of Steve Austin, got the last laugh.

Shaquille O'Neal (WrestleMania 32)

Shaquille O’Neal and professional wrestling was a match made in heaven, and WWE fans got to see that become a reality when the Pro Basketball Hall of Famer entered the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. Was it a display of in-ring talent? No, but it was an unforgettable moment seeing him stand face-to-face with Big Show in the middle of the 20-man match.

Regis Philbin (WrestleMania VII)

WrestleMania VII is best remembered for being the beginning of the Undertaker’s historic streak as well as the main event championship match between WWE Champion Sgt. Slaughter and Hulk Hogan. The night also included an appearance by Regis Philbin, who stepped in and helped provide commentary in the high-profile headlining bout. 

Alex Trebek (WrestleMania VII)

Alex Trebek, the longtime host of Jeopardy, was another major celebrity guest for WrestleMania VII where he served as the ring announcer during the main event match. The beloved TV figure, who passed away in 2020, also conducted multiple backstage interviews throughout the event.

Rob Gronkowski (WrestleMania 36)

Four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski has had two appearances at the “Granddaddy of Them All” over the years, including WrestleMania 36 where he served as the host of the event taped behind closed doors at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The former tight end for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers previously took part in WrestleMania 33 where he helped friend Mojo Rawley win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Al Roker (WrestleMania 33)

WrestleMania 33 is best remembered for John Cena proposing to Nikki Bella in the middle of the ring after defeating the Miz and Maryse in a mixed-gender tag team match. But who was the ring with Cena and his former girlfriend? None other than Al Roker, the longtime weatherman and personality on NBC’s Today show.

Reba McEntire (WrestleMania VIII)

Reba McEntire made an appearance at WrestleMania VIII in April 1992. The celebrated country singer and actress took to the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana, to perform the “Star-Spangled Banner” in front of a massive 60,000-strong crowd of screaming wrestling fans.

Burt Reynolds (WrestleMania X)

WWE returned to Madison Square Garden for WrestleMania X in March 1994, an event that featured multiple celebrity guests like Donnie Wahlberg, Rhonda Shear, and Jennie Garth. The biggest actor to appear, and the man who served as ring announcer in the main event match involving Bret Hart and Yokozuna, was none other than Burt Reynolds.

Little Richard (WrestleMania X)

Another celebrity guest featured at WrestleMania X was legendary R&B trailblazer, Little Richard, who was on hand to perform “America the Beautiful” to kick off the historic event.

Pamela Anderson (WrestleMania XI)

Pamela Anderson, who was all the rage at the time thanks to her role on Baywatch, was one of the multiple celebrity guests on hand at WrestleMania XI in April 1995. The pop culture sensation served as Diesel’s, aka Kevin Nash, valet in his bout against Shawn Michaels.

Lawrence Taylor (WrestleManina XI)

WWE has a long history of bringing in big-named athletes for marquee events, and that includes Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, who took on Bam Bam Bigelow in the WrestleMania XI main event. The two-time Super Bowl champion was joined by a half-dozen other NFLers in a winning effort.

Floyd Mayweather (WrestleMania XXIV)

Boxer Floyd Mayweather is another big-name celebrity who has appeared at the “Showcase of the Immortals.” The decorated boxer, who took home a big paycheck for a 2021 fight with Logan Paul, entered the squared circle to take on Big Show in no DQ match at WrestleMania XXIV back in 2008.

Donald Trump (WrestleMania 23)

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has made many appearances over the years, including a “Battle of the Billionaires” match at WrestleMania 23. Trump’s night ended after taking a Stunner from Steve Austin.

Ice-T (WrestleMania 2000)

Rapper-turned-actor Ice-T showed up at WrestleMania 2000 where he performed “Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy” for the Godfather’s entrance.

Limp Bizkit (WrestleMania XIX)

Limp Bizkit, still one of the bigger nu-metal bands at the time, performed a pair of tracks at WrestleMania XIX in March 2003: that year’s official song, “Crack Addict,” and their own hit track, “Rollin,” for the Undertaker’s entrance.

Mickey Rourke (WrestleMania XXV)

After appearing in The Wrestler, one of the best movies of the 2000s, Mickey Rourke entered the ring for real when he confronted Chris Jericho at WrestleMania XXV. Though he didn’t participate in a match, he did give Y2J a knockout punch.

Paul Reubens As Pee-Wee Herman (WrestleMania XXVII)

The Rock may have been the biggest name in the house when he hosted WrestleMania XXVII in April 2011, but he wasn’t the only celebrity on hand that night. The late Paul Reubens, as his famous Pee-Wee Herman character, showed up throughout the night in one of his numerous WWE appearances over the years.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs (WrestleMania 29) 

Sean “Diddy” Combs appeared at WrestleMania 29 where he performed “Coming Home,” one of the event’s official theme songs.

Kid Rock (WrestleMania XXV) 

Kid Rock performed not one, not two, but a whole medley of tracks at WrestleMania XXV back in 2009, including smash hit songs “Bawitdaba” and “Cowboy.”

Colin Jost And Michael Che (WrestleMania 35)

After teasing it in the leadup to the event, Saturday Night Live stars Colin Jost and Michael Che showed up at WrestleMania 35 where they participated in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. They weren’t successful or anything, but they did look extra ridiculous, especially when Braun Strowman got involved.

Machine Gun Kelly (WrestleMania XXVIII) 

About a decade before Machine Gun Kelly started his whirlwind romance with Megan Fox, the rapper showed up at WrestleMania XXVIII to perform “Invincible,” that year’s official theme song.

Bam Margera isn’t exactly chummy with his cohorts from Jackass these days. The 43-year-old stuntman and skateboarder seems to have mostly distanced himself from his longtime co-stars amid continued legal and health issues. Margera has been open about his problems with former colleague Johnny Knoxville. Meanwhile, fellow franchise vet Steve-O tried to extend some help to his troubled buddy by bringing him on tour. Despite making that kind gesture though, he wasn’t excluded when Margera took shots at the cast in a new song.

In June, social media posts surfaced, which showed Bam Margera dissing Johnny Knoxville while recording a track in a studio. It now seems that a song has been formally released and, while it doesn’t appear to be the exact tune that Margera was prepping, it’s no less explicit. The famed skateboarder teamed up with hip hop artists Cult Shotta and Tanboymiguel to produce the new single after reportedly meeting up with them in Los Angeles. This track, titled “Feels Like Bam,” calls out a number of the famed franchise’s alums, including Knoxville, Jason “Wee Man” Acuña and Jeff Tremaine. Even the cover created for the song parodies the MTV series. You can see in the Instagram post below:

TMZ offered up an exclusive first look at the music video for the song, in which one can hear the Viva La Bam star’s jabs at his former collaborators. The footage also shows him engaging in PDA with his alleged new girlfriend among other acts. Through the lyrics, the entertainer challenges the Dukes of Hazzard alum to a fight and implores him to “step in the ring, pussy.” On top of that, he accuses the actor of revving up a motorcycle in his house on one occasion. He later calls out Jeff Tremaine, referring to him as a “greedy, fat fucking pussy” who “made us sign a contract that everyone can get hurt except him.” The father of one also says, “I love Steve-O big time” but criticized his skateboarding skills. To put a stamp on his feelings, the amateur rapper said, “man, fuck ‘em all.”

Bam Margera’s new song furthers the idea that his co-stars ruined his career due to their extreme antics on and off camera. That hasn’t been the main source of bad blood amongst the group during the past few years, however. In 2021, it was revealed that Margera had been dropped from 2022’s Jackass Forever after testing positive for Adderall. Margera filed suit against the creative team, including Johnny Knoxville and director Jeff Tremaine. The case was eventually settled in the spring of 2022, though Margera has continuously called out the cast and crew in the aftermath. 

He actually challenged Johnny Knoxville to a fight months ago in an Instagram video that went viral. The Bam's Unholy Union’s star said at the time that he wanted to get in the ring with the Reboot alum so that he could “ring, ring, ring, 1-2-3, let’s go, I fuck you up.” Knoxville never publicly responded to the clip and as of right now, has not weighed in on the music video, either. 

Steve-O – whose real name is Stephen Glover – has expressed a considerable amount of concern for his longtime friend, which is why he aimed to help with his sobriety by bringing him on his Bucket List Tour. While the arrangement seemed to work for a while, the Bam's World Domination star eventually broke off. He later shared a social media post, which prompted Glover to post (and later delete) an emotional response. He shared several sobering sentiments, but the tone of the message can be summed up with one unfortunate declaration, “You’re dying, brother.”

Jackass is set to return to the small screen with a new production, and many of the series’ veterans are in the mix. Bam Margera, however, seems to have no interest in joining forces with the team again. While that’s apparently been the case for a while now, it’s never been more evident than it is following the creation of that music video.

At first glance, Johnny Knoxville and Tom Cruise may not seem to share much in common. But when it comes to the world of adrenaline-pumping cinema, if you think about it, two franchises stand out for their jaw-dropping real-world stunts and heart-stopping action: Jackass and Mission: Impossible, which is why it's one of the very best action series. While they may seem worlds apart, the Bad Grandpa actor recently opened up about what makes the franchises' similarities as well as the stark differences between the two and how their approaches to stunts diverge.

On the surface, Jackass and Mission:Impossible definitely share a common thread of extreme stunts and death-defying feats performed by their stars. Tom Cruise’s most ridiculous M:I stunts have more in common with the bull stunt that left Johnny Knoxville with permanent brain damage than you might realize. However, The Ringer actor emphasized that there is a fundamental distinction between the two series, and it comes down to failure. While chatting with the A.V. Club, he explained: 

Fair enough. The stuntman’s comments make sense, given that Ethan Hunt’s extraordinary feats are designed to leave audiences in awe, while the Jackass crew’s shenanigans are more like cartoon set pieces designed for laughs. So by their very nature, if they don’t work out so well for our heroes, that’s a plus. But if the Top Gun star makes a mistake, it's doubtful audiences would even see the footage while, for the gang of ruffian MTV alums, that’s sort of the point. 

In the "as of now" released six Mission: Impossible films, with the seventh hitting theaters this week, the 60-year-old Jerry Maguire actor certainly gives it his all when bringing the big-budget action movie set pieces to the silver screen. However, as real as the antics of the IMF agents seem, the film still employs movie magic like CGI, a tool that isn’t in the budget and would seem inappropriate in the world of Jackass. And according to Johnny Knoxville, gravity is also a contributing factor when it comes to his stunts:

Still, game recognizes game, and the Reboot alum tips his hat to Tom Cruise. The performer gave it up to Cruise and his need for speed while being on camera, saying:

While Johnny Knoxville has suffered several injuries on camera, luckily, the most gruesome accident that has occurred to Tom Cruise is the gnarly ankle break during the filming of the sixth M:I adventure. And hopefully, with the second half of the Hollywood A-listers swan song to the series right around the corner, it'll remain that way and failure doesn't come into the equation as well.

Few people have attempted some of the wild stunts that Jackass legend Steve-O has participated in. He swallowed a live goldfish and vomited it back out and was launched into the air while in a port-a-potty attached to bungee cords, among other things. Some might assume that the stunt performer and former clown is simply a madman. That couldn’t be further from the truth, as he’s very cerebral when it comes to his and his cohorts’ undertakings. He recently got honest about what it was like watching Johnny Knoxville’s bull stunt, which unfortunately left him with brain damage. 

Jackass Forever was the production in which the major moment took place. The scene, which saw Johnny Knoxville enter the ring to match wits with the beast, is considered one of the film’s biggest sequences. However, it proved to be somewhat costly for the star, as he reportedly suffered a concussion, brain hemorrhage, broken wrist and broken rib. Knoxville seems to be doing alright now, but that’s a lot to give of yourself for a movie from a physical standpoint. Steve-O has seen his longtime friend take on a ton of challenges, but it sounds like he was really affected by the sight of his buddy getting taken down by: 

It’s very sweet of the 49-year-old star, whose actual name is Stephen Glover, to show such concern, and it’s not all that surprising, either. He’s shown support for his co-stars on a number of occasions, even recently helping fellow series alum Bam Margera, who toured with him. Glover even penned an emotional message to Margera amid his continued struggles with sobriety. One can understand his thoughts on the animal-centric feat as well. He clearly knows that his colleague has put himself through a lot over the years and, as a result, Glover views stunts like that differently at this point. 

Steve-O’s also been looking over his own material and seems to have mixed feelings about that as well. Later in his interview with NME, he singled out one particular moment from the 2022 movie, and it involves Machine Gun Kelly. He and MGK got knocked into a swimming pool by a giant hand while riding bikes. While that may sound entertaining on paper and may even look extreme, the Barely Lethal alum wasn’t all that impressed: 

These days, the entertainer has found different professional avenues through which he can express himself. He’s landed an acting gig or two and appeared as himself during a few media campaigns. He even wrote a book, A Hard Kick in the Nuts: What I've Learned from a Lifetime of Terrible Decisions. He’s also currently on the U.K. leg of what he’s dubbed The Bucket List Tour, which sees him host screenings of filmed stunts that were apparently too spicy for even  Jackass. Meanwhile, Johnny Knoxville continues to act and hold down other media gigs. Whether Steve-O and Knoxville continue to look at their stunts differently over time remains to be seen. Though what can certainly be said is that fans certainly don’t want to see either of them get brain damage or any other additional injuries at this point.

Jackass Forever, previous installments in the film series and the MTV show that spawned them all are streamable for anyone with a Paramount+ subscription. 

Bam Margera has been making headlines frequently as of late due to his continued personal problems. The Jackass co-founder has been dealing with sobriety and alleged addiction issues and been entangled in a legal dispute with his former partner, Nicole Boyd. The former stuntman was recently admitted to a rehab center owned by Lamar Odom after being invited by the former athlete. Margera was later said to be making progress with detoxing and easing the bad blood with Boyd. However, reportedly left early in order to take a trip to Las Vegas. While it seemed that Margera was eager to make his way to “Sin City,” he apparently carved out a little time to diss former co-star Johnny Knoxville again. 

Evidently, the 43-year-old media personality was recently in a studio, where he was recording an explicit tune. The track in question revolved around his (seemingly one-sided) beef with Johnny Knoxville. Music producer ZVBBV was the one who shared footage of the MTV alum in the studio recording the apparent diss track. The producer’s video post was shared to his Instagram story (and captured by UNILAD). A caption also appears at the beginning of the clip and simply says, “Bam Margera going crazy.”

While the post was still live, a number of fans weighed in on it, expressing concern for the Viva La Bam alum’s mental health, as mentioned by UNILAD. The site quoted one user from Reddit, who said “honestly breaks my heart to see this.” And another stated that “he needs better friends.” A third person provided even more detailed thoughts aimed at ZVBBV. The social media user said “hopefully you don't take advantage of this dude and let those around him take advantage him.” In response, the music producer said: 

The father of one may be known primarily for being a reality TV star, skateboarder and filmmaker, some may not be aware of the fact that he also has some musical experience. He’s directed videos for a number of bands, and he also founded the short-lived Filthy Note Records label. He’s also played a couple of instruments in his time, specifically guitar and keyboard, the latter of which he played for the novelty band Gnarkill. 

While it’s admittedly rare that you’ll find Bam Margera in a studio recording fresh tracks, it’s become somewhat more common to see him beefing with Johnny Knoxville. Since then though, Margera has continued to call out Knoxville, even daring him to a fight in a video posted to social media months ago. 

Many have been concerned about Bam Margera’s well being during this time, including his family, fans and some fellow Jackass alums. What ends up happening with his trip to Vegas remains to be seen. One would hope that the excursion won’t lead to any negative consequences for him or his entourage.

It’s no secret that Bam Margera has had issues with his fellow Jackass alums for some time now. The skateboarder and former MTV star was engaged in a legal battle with Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine and more in regard to his exclusion from Jackass Forever. Ultimately, Margera settled the case and, amid his continued sobriety struggles, he subsequently seemed to be at peace over no longer being a part of the franchise. However, in a new post shared to social media, the media personality called out Knoxville, challenging him to a fight. And it sounds like he’s really ready for them to “go” at it in the ring.

The video in question was shared on Instagram and saw Bam Margera talking about a “death waiver” that Johnny Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine allegedly required him to sign. The 43-year-old alleged that he was required to take 18 different medications, which he says turned him into a “zombie.” He also claimed that they affected his sexual performance and led to weight gain among other things. From there, Margera called out his former collaborators, saying that Tremaine is too much of a “pussy” to fight him, though he believes that Knoxville would if dared:

Bam Margera was let go from Jackass Forever after reportedly testing positive for having taken Adderall. He later decided to move forward with a lawsuit against the creative team in 2021 over compensation for the work he did complete on the movie. He also sought to take them to court over his role in crafting the long-running TV/movie franchise. The case would eventually be settled around the spring of 2022.

After the case's conclusion, the star stated that he was on the “road to recovery” and eventually checked into a wellness facility. Unfortunately, he’s since dropped in and out of rehab and has seen setbacks when it comes to remaining sober. In December, he was also hospitalized and put on a ventilator after dealing with a serious case of COVID. Just a few weeks ago, he was also arrested for public intoxication and his son was apparently present at the time.

Some have sought to offer support to Bam Margera during this time, including his longtime friend and co-star Steve-O. The reality TV star, who’s had his share of struggles in the past, tried to help Margera remain sober by having him tag along on his tour. His efforts seemed to be unsuccessful sadly, as Steve-O posted (and deleted) an emotional appeal to Margera on social media.

As of this writing, neither Johnny Knoxville nor Jeff Tremaine have responded to this latest message. Chances are they may not opt to respond, given Bam Margera’s mention of the request has legal implications. Plus, the two are more than likely aware of their former co-star’s personal struggles. One hopes that Margera will get the assistance he needs as he continues to navigate his personal challenges.

While he may be known for putting his body and brain on the line for laughs amidst a group of fellow knuckleheads with the same passion for chaos, Johnny Knoxville has certainly proven himself to be more than just a target for hilarious self-abuse. Though the actor returned to his stunt-heavy roots for 2022’s Jackass Forever, which is still reportedly getting a TV follow-up, he’s also continued expanding his career in plenty of ways in the decade-plus between films. He was a blast in the sadly short-lived Reboot last year, but it was joining the star-studded cast of Mel Brooks’ long-awaited sequel History of the World, Part II that allowed him a personal and professional highlight involving the comedy legend. 

Almost always seen in clean-shaven mode (allowing for stubble), Johnny Knoxville went for a completely different look for History of the World, Part II, in which he plays historical holy man Grigori Rasputin, whose look is the equivalent of Amish Alan Moore. His storyline includes the family of Tsar Nicolas II, with the ruler being portrayed by It’s Always Sunny fan favorite Danny DeVito. And as one might imagine, working with DeVito was huge for Knoxville, especially with it happening on a TV show created by Mel flippin’ Brooks. Here’s how the Jackass vet described his glee while talking to EW:

Considering all the physical turmoil Johnny Knoxville has put himself through over the years, it’d be wild if he ended up suffering a career-altering injury from “getting up too fast to see Mel Brooks.” Certainly a more respectable injury to have compared to others. But that’s just the kind of enthusiasm the occasional WWE visitor has for the Young Frankenstein filmmaker. 

Some may be surprised to learn that Johnny Knoxville didn’t even actually get to hang out with Mel Brooks on the set at all. Although Brooks is currently 96 years old, so it’s perhaps not such a surprise that he wasn’t an on-set fixture. 

Because of that, Knoxville took his shot and asked if he could reach out to Mel Brooks to shower his respect onto the Spaceballs director, and permission was granted. Fans might not be able to fully relate to the actor’s ability to put himself through painful stunts for Jackass, but I think we can all connect with the unbridled glee on display as he talked about chatting Brooks up directly. 

Nobody should be too worried about Johnny Knoxville hanging his boots up in retirement mode. Even at 51 years old, he’s talked about potentially going forward with another Jackass project, though with necessary alterations at play. But before that, he’ll be having a bearded blast within History of the World, Part II, although it may not end well for him if the TV series reflects Rasputin’s real-world fate.

Now that we know what a huge fan Knoxville is, it’s probably time to start social media petitions for him to star in other hypothetical Mel Brooks sequels such as Dracula Still Dead And Still Loving It, Higher Anxiety, Yellowstone: Blazing Saddles, or whatever the genius comedian would actually come up with. Young Creature from the Black Lagoon, anyone?

By our count, there are 97 famous faces in the massive, star-studded History of the World, Part II cast — all of whom would be just a little too difficult to cover in one article. So, we decided to narrow our breakdown of who is starring in Mel Brooks’ aptly titled series sequel to his 1981 film, History of the World, Part I, to just the 18 names confirmed in the trailer for the new comedy TV show streaming on Hulu now. Let’s begin with the man who started it all. 

Mel Brooks

We do not know who Mel Brooks is playing in History of the World, Part II, but hope he reprises some of his characters from the original (such as Moses and King Louis XVI), which is just one of the many classic spoof movies (such as Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, and Spaceballs) that made him a legend. In more recent years, the Oscar winner (for writing 1967’s The Producers) has mostly done voice acting roles in movies like the Blue Sky favorite, Robots, the Hotel Transylvania movies was Vlad, Toy Story 4 as Melephant Brooks, and the Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank cast as The Shogun.

Ike Barinholtz

Portraying multiple historical figures (including Alexander Graham Bell) is executive producer and former MADtv star Ike Barinholtz, who has also starred in parody movies like Disaster Movie and Vampires Suck, as well as more grounded comedies like Blockers and Neighbors and nuanced, dark satires like The Oath, which he also wrote and directed. The Mindy Project cast member’s career has also grown more eclectic after appearing in thrillers like Suicide Squad (before voicing Two-Face on the DC-inspired podcast, Batman: The Audio Adventures), The Hunt, and Netflix’s fantasy crime drama, Bright.

Nick Kroll

Also taking on multiple roles (such as Judas, according to THR) and executive producing is comedian Nick Kroll, who had his own sketch series called Kroll Show, following his appearances in movies like I Love You, Man and Dinner with Schmucks and his starring role on one of the funniest shows on Hulu, The League. Outside of lending his voice to the new Addams Family movies and the Sing movies, the Emmy-nominated co-creator of Netflix’s Big Mouth has also led a more eclectic career lately that includes joining the Don’t Worry Darling cast and the 2018 historical drama, Operation Finale.

Wanda Sykes

Fellow History of the World, Part II headliner (appearing as Harriet Tubman in one sketch, for instance) and executive producer Wanda Sykes has one of the funniest stand-up specials on Paramount+, is a scene-stealer in movies like Down to Earth, Monster-in-Law, and Clerks II, and stars on a popular Netflix sitcom called The Upshaws. The recent Oscars host was also a highlight of other sitcoms like Curb Your Enthusiasm and The New Adventures of Old Christine and has leant her voice to movies like the Ice Age series and TV shows like Bob’s Burgers.

Pamela Adlon

Pamela Adlon’s career began with a role in 1982’s Grease 2, leading to guest spots in acclaimed sitcoms like Night Court and The Jeffersons, and parts in cinematic favorites like Say Anything… She is best known, however, for her various voice acting roles — such as her Emmy-winning work in the King of the Hill cast as Bobby Hill and Netflix’s Human Resources cast with Kroll — and leading the FX dramedy, Better Things, which she also co-created. 

Zazie Beetz

Appearing as Mary Magdalene (according to Time) is Zazie Beetz, who rose to fame as one of the four main stars of FX’s Atlanta in her Emmy-nominated role as Vanessa. Soon after, the German-American actor earned comic book movie roles (Domino in Deadpool 2 and Joaquin Phoenix’s love interest in Joker), leant her voice to a comic book TV show (Amazon Prime’s Invincible cast), played a disguised assassin in the Bullet Train cast, and is set to appear on Black Mirror Season 6, next.

Jack Black

Jack Black once paid tribute to Mel Brooks at the Kennedy Center Honors by performing a song from Robin Hood: Men in Tights and earned the chance to do so by being one of the most popular comedic actors of his time after starring in movies like High Fidelity and School of Rock — the latter of which earned him his first Golden Globe nomination — to name a few. Some of the actor and musician’s best-known work also includes Peter Jackson’s King Kong remake, director Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder, voicing Po in the Kung Fu Panda franchise, and the last couple of Jumanji movies.

Quinta Brunson

Jack Black’s Weird: The Al Yankovic Story co-star, Quinta Brunson (she played Oprah), has quickly become one of the most prominent faces in comedy following her Emmy-winning work as the creator and star of Abbott Elementary. Prior to that, she appeared alongside Seth Rogen (more on him later) in HBO Max’s An American Pickle, parodied another era of history on TBS’ third season of Miracle Workers, and also leant her voice to a few episodes of Big Mouth.

Dove Cameron

As Princess Anastasia, we have former Disney Channel star Dove Cameron, who has come quite a long way since rising to fame as both titular roles on Liv and Maddie and Maleficent’s daughter in the Descendants franchise. The star of Vengeance and Good Mourning more recently utilized her talents for acting and singing in Apple TV+’s Schmigadoon! cast.

Danny DeVito

One of the biggest living legends in History of the World, Part II is Danny DeVito, whose eclectic film career includes One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Twins, and Batman Returns (as one of the most iconic Penguin portrayals) — and that is not counting what he has directed, such as Matilda and Death to Smoochy. He is just as much of an icon on TV, having earned an Emmy for playing Louie de Palma on Taxi and starring as Frank Reynolds in the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia cast for 15 seasons so far.

Jay Ellis

Starring as Jesus is Insecure cast member Jay Ellis, who had previously landed his first starring role on a TV series with BET’s The Game. That would lead to an impressive resume of feature-length hits like 2019’s Escape Room, playing Payback in the Top Gun: Maverick cast, and Alison Brie’s love interest in Amazon’s Somebody I Used to Know.

Josh Gad

Starring as William Shakespeare is Josh Gad, who last worked with Mel Brooks on FX’s mockuseries The Comedians, on which he poked fun at his meteoric fame following his Tony-nominated performance in Broadway’s The Book of Mormon and scene-stealing role as Olaf in the Frozen frozen. The star and co-creator of Apple TV+’s Central Park also had a big year in 2017 with Murder on the Orient Express, Marshall, and playing LeFou in the live-action Beauty and the Beast remake, before playing Muncher in Ghostbusters: Afterlife and starring on Avenue Q for HBO.

Johnny Knoxville

After MTV’s Jackass and its subsequent movie spin-offs made him a star, Johnny Knoxville (who plays Rasputin in History of the World, Part II) went on to star in comedies like The Dukes of Hazzard and The Ringer and action movies like Dwayne Johnson’s Walking Tall. More recently, the prankster — also known for voicing Leonardo in the new, live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies — landed his first starring role on a TV series when he joined Hulu’s Reboot cast in 2022.  

Kumail Nanjiani

As the creator of the “Kama Soup-tra,” we have Kumail Nanjiani, who was already well on his way to becoming one of comedy’s biggest names (as co-host of Comedy Central’s The Meltdown) before he and spouse Emily V. Gordon earned Oscar nominations for writing The Big Sick. The Pakistani-born actor and Welcome to Chippendales cast lead has since joined the MCU (he was Kingo in the Eternals cast) and the Star Wars universe (played Haja Estree in the Obi-Wan Kenobi cast).

Seth Rogen

Playing Noah is Seth Rogen, who has previously crossed paths with most of his History of the World, Part II co-stars at least once since breaking out in the Freaks and Geeks cast (his first of many collaborations with Judd Apatow), such as Nick Kroll in Sausage Party and Big Mouth, Zazie Beetz on Invincible, and Ike Barinholtz in The Disaster Artist. The writer, director, producer, and actor has expanded his horizons wonderfully in recent years with more serious roles in films like Steve Jobs and Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans, and TV shows like Pam & Tommy. 

Sarah Silverman

Rogen’s Funny People and Santa Inc. co-star and Jack Black’s School of Rock co-star, two-time Emmy-winner Sarah Silverman, had a short SNL stint and guest-starred on Seinfeld before becoming one of the most acclaimed comedians of her generation. Some of her best-known roles include Vanellope in the Wreck-It Ralph movies, Gladys Heldman in Battle of the Sexes, various characters on Bob’s Burgers, and fictionalized versions of herself on many occasions.  

J.B. Smoove

Seemingly poking fun at his Curb Your Enthusiasm character, Leon, in a History of the World, Part II segment called “Curb Your Judaism” (according to IGN’s review) is former SNL writer J.B. Smoove, who has appeared as a guest star or main player on numerous sitcoms over the years — most recently when he joined the Blockbuster cast for Netflix. In addition to memorable roles in movies like Pootie Tang and Date Night, he is also part of the MCU (having appeared in two Spider-Man movies).

Taika Waititi

Another an MCU star (from both in front of and behind the camera) in the History of the World, Part II cast (as Sigmund Freud) is Taika Waititi, who previously poked fun at history by playing an imaginary Hitler in Jojo Rabbit, which also earned him a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar, and Blackbeard in HBO’s Our Flag Means Death. He is also part of the Star Wars universe, having played a droid on The Mandalorian (which he also directed an episode of), the DC Extended Universe after playing the original Ratcatcher in The Suicide Squad, and more recently leant his voice to Pixar’s Lightyear cast as Mo.

Look out for other cast members — such as Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander, Emily Ratajkowski, Big Mouth’s Jason Mantzoukas, Jillian Bell, Jack White, and so many more — when you stream History of the World, Part II on Hulu. Hulu’s cancellation of its meta comedy Reboot after just one eight-episode season was baffling for many viewers, given the series' positive reception and knockout cast of comedy veterans. The show centered around a 2000s-era sitcom receiving a revival with its original cast, and it combined the laughs with self-deprecating and pointed commentary on how comedy has evolved over the past few decades. It wasn’t just fans who were surprised to see the excellent series from Steve Levitan get axed, either, and after Johnny Knoxville expressed his frustration with Hulu, his Reboot co-star Rachel Bloom had a message of her own.

Rachel Bloom’s Reboot character Hannah worked behind the scenes of the fictional sitcom Step Right Up, serving as the revival’s co-showrunner alongside the original series’ creator, Gordon (Paul Reiser), who was also her estranged father. Their scenes in the writers’ room were arguably some of the funniest and most introspective, and her disappointment at the series’ cancellation was palpable in an Instagram post that read: 

Rachel Bloom seems to be really stretching to reach for that high road, and instead of sharing her “vitriol” over Reboot’s end, she chose to thank her castmates for the short time they had together. 

Johnny Knoxville was not as worried about how his message came off, as he called out Hulu for the “unbelievable” decision to cancel a show that had great reviews, an ensemble cast to die for, and had been nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Comedy Series. He said that as they shop Reboot around for a new network that he hopes they find a home “with a studio who believes in and knows how to properly support a new show as it continues to grow.” 

Just as the Jackass alum garnered reactions from fellow celebrities like John Stamos and Whitney Cummings, Rachel Bloom’s “classy” response also attracted support from her cohorts in Hollywood:

• Mandy Moore: Oh man- I LOVED this show. Hope it finds another home!!
• Questlove: Reboot Again
• Lance Bass: Such a great show! This will find another home for sure.

Johnny Knoxville also hit the comments section on Rachel Bloom’s post, saying: 

It looks like the show still has a lot of support, so there’s hope yet that it will find another home to continue to build on its stories. While we wait to see if there will indeed be a future for Reboot, you can stream the first season with a Hulu subscription, and be sure to check out our 2023 TV schedule to see what other premieres are coming soon. 

There’s no arguing we’re in a reboot/revival age of entertainment and, sometimes, it seems there are few shows from past decades still out there that haven’t been updated for the current generation. That makes it all the more upsetting when an original series like Reboot — an ensemble comedy from Modern Family creator Steve Levitan — gets the ax after a single season. Johnny Knoxville, whose performance was just one of many reasons to watch, spoke out about the series' cancellation and received supportive messages from John Stamos and other celebrities.

In addition to Johnny Knoxville, the Reboot cast boasted numerous comedy vets, including Keegan-Michael Key, Judy Greer, Paul Reiser, Krista Marie Yu and Rachel Bloom. The meta comedy centered around the revival of the cheesy fictional sitcom Step Right Up and the drama that ensued off-screen and in the writers’ room. The Jackass veteran got real in an Instagram post about Hulu’s decision to cancel the series, writing:  

It’s a pretty scathing message to the streamer, but the reason for Johnny Knoxville’s frustration is obvious. As he pointed out, that the series was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Comedy Series. It also was positively received by pundits, amassing an 88% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.  

Johnny Knoxville was definitely not alone in voicing his disappointment, as a number of celebrities commented their support for the actor, including Full House alum John Stamos, who wrote: 

Other famous names who joined the Uncle Jesse portrayer in mourning the end of the series (after just eight episodes) were Reboot star Judy Greer and more, who commented:

• Maria Menounos: What?!!!!!!!!! Where do I start the protest. Hubby and I are OBSESSED!!!!!!!
• Whitney Cummings: Boo. Uncool. Amazing I’m still shocked by this business.

Judy Greer shined in her leading role as Step Right Up matriarch Bree, and former child star Calum Worthy played the most hilarious meta version of former child star Zack. The Sex Lives of College Girls’ cast member Alyah Chanelle Scott was amazing in her recurring role as a reality show star-turned-aspiring actress, and that’s just to name a few. In taking the action off the stage and into a diverse, multi-generational writers’ room, Reboot also made pointed commentary about the state of comedy in today’s world.

It’s a shame that Hulu isn’t giving Reboot a second season, but Johnny Knoxville says they’re shopping it around. So hopefully, there’s a chance we'll see the Step Right Up cast and writers return with a different studio. One assumes the life of Johnny Knoxville is one filled with stunts of the insane and ridiculous variety, but the actor/performer is dealing with some more serious issues of late, as Knoxville has a pair of legal issues he’s currently dealing with. Knoxville is currently involved in a divorce from his producer wife, Naomi Nelson, and he’s also being sued by the victim of one of his trademark pranks.

Knoxville is no stranger to dealing with courts. He most recently settled an ongoing lawsuit brought by fellow Jackass cast member Bam Margera. Now he's close to finalizing his divorce. While we’ve seen celebrity divorce drama get dragged on for years when there are things the two parties cannot agree on, it looks like Knoxville and his soon-to-be ex-wife are close to settling their separation. However, the other legal problem is only just beginning and has the potential to be much more divisive.

Johnny Knoxville’s Divorce 

Knoxville and Nelson reportedly separated on September 24, 2021, according to The Blast, which was their 11th wedding anniversary. The pair have two children. While it has been well over a year since their separation, it now appears the proceedings are moving forward as Knoxville has filed a declaration of disclosure with the court, and has provided Nelson with a full list of his assets and income, which will be used to set financial support.

Nelson has asked for full physical custody of the couple’s two children, so they will live with her, but she and Knoxville will have joint legal custody, so the actor will still be directly involved in making decisions for them. One assumes there will also be child support payments, which is why the current documents are important to the divorce proceedings. The court is now able to rule on support, and once that’s done the legal separation can likely go forward.

Johnny Knoxville’s Lawsuit

While one legal issue may be about to be over for Johnny Knoxville, a second is just getting started. The Jackass performer was sued in December for what’s being called a prank gone wrong from October 2022. Khalil Khan is suing Knoxville and his production company, Dickhouse Entertainment, Inc.

According to the suit, Khan responded to a job posting on TaskRabbit to do some repairs at a home in Long Beach, CA. While there, he was reportedly physically threatened over the work, was accused of having drugs in his car, and had a little girl accuse him of killing a pony. Only after all this was he made aware he was at the center of a stunt. 

It's far from the first time we've seen lawsuits over pranks or stunts from people who were not interested in being part of them. Jackass stars have been sued before by people who did not like being part of the show. Similar stunts are also popular on YouTube and we've seen lawsuits there as well. 

Knoxville and his company are being sued for compensatory, special, and punitive damages, as Khan says he was traumatized by the experience and has been experiencing anxiety and distress in the aftermath. As this lawsuit is fairly new it will likely be some time before it works its way through the system, assuming it’s not settled before we get to that point. 

Johnny Knoxville returned to his iconic Jackass franchise this year when the 2022 movie release Jackass Forever hit theaters early this year to critical and commercial success. And the prankster has definitely been back to his dangerous hijinks as of late considering Knoxville is now being sued for one of his latest elaborate jokes, which reportedly caused "emotional distress

On Friday, a suit was filed against Johnny Knoxville by the object of one of their unreleased pranks. According to documents filed by Khalil Khan in the Long Beach Superior Court, per Variety, Knoxville is being sued due to causing the plaintiff emotional distress as a result of a prank that has since led to him suffering a lack of sleep. He also says that he's experiencing anxiety and will have to deal with “embarrassment and ridicule” due to the event. 

Here’s what allegedly happened. Khan was called to a home (via TaskRabbit) to complete a routine repair job on a dimmer switch. However, when he got there, the homeowner reportedly threatened to beat him up if he didn’t do it right, claiming he knew jiu-jitsu. A few minutes later, a light in the house went out and a young girl ran in the room and accused Khan of killing her pony. The man was then led into a room where a pony was attached to a life-support machine. 

That’s not all though. Following this, the plaintiff apparently noticed his car was being towed outside. Panicked, he took out his phone to call the police but was then told by one of the men in the house that if he did, he would be arrested for cocaine possession. Per the filing:  

According to the lawsuit, the Jackass star arrived at the house not long after this and shared that everything that had just happened was just a prank. Khalil Khan’s lawsuit claims that Knoxville offered him a few hundred dollars for his troubles but that he was “not amused” then and “remains unamused.” 

The prank was reportedly part of Johnny Knoxville’s new TV show, which is currently in the works. While it was initially believed that Jackass Forever was the final movie in the long-running franchise, Knoxville has since clarified that he isn't done with it but might personally step down as the lead personality because his neurologist said he “can't have any more concussions.” 

Johnny Knoxville isn’t a stranger to lawsuits given that former collaborator Bam Margera -- who is currently in the hospital for pneumonia -- previously sued him for wrongful termination before he later dismissed it. As of this writing, Knoxville has not issued a formal response to the suit. The public can only wait and see how this latest legal situation turns out for the veteran stuntman and actor.

After more than a decade since the last installment, 2022 saw the return of the veteran Jackass cast in their fourth film of the franchise, Jackass Forever. The fourth movie of the top-rated extreme stunt series delivered a critically well-received and surprisingly nostalgic entry. Despite most of the cast being in or close to their fifties and racking up a laundry list of brutal injuries over the years, the stars of Jackass Forever pulled no punches in their latest outing. They brought just as many laughs and death-defying stunts as their previous movies. Johnny Knoxville, the series co-creator and star, even sustained brain damage while performing one of his famous bull stunts. So what are the chances of the series and stars returning for a fifth movie? 

Recently Knoxville gave an interview to Variety where he discussed everything from his latest film, Hulu's comedy Reboot, to his love of Bam Margera (despite the fact Margera recently sued him) and the future of the Jackass franchise. When asked whether the 51-year-old actor would return for a fifth installment given the popularity of Forever, he said the fourth Jackass movie was not intentionally positioned as the definitive final movie, and continuing the series is not out of the question. However, he said in the future, the series will likely need to rely more heavily on the younger cast introduced in Jackass Forever. The Bad Grandpa star had this to say:

It makes complete sense that the Action Point actor would want to take it a bit easier going forward and reduce his risk of head injuries. He and his fellow original Jackass stars aren't getting any younger. The latest movie skirted the age issue by featuring hilarious celebrity guest stars like Machine Gun Kelly, The Dudesons, Tony Hawk, DJ Paul, Chris Raab, Tyler the Creator, and Eric André, who admitted being very nervous on the Jackass set. 

The newcomer cast made up of characters such as Eric Manaka, Jasper Dolphin, Rachel Wolfson, Zach Holmes, and, perhaps my favorite, Poopies, all had wonderfully memorable moments in their short time on screen. I would love to see more of this younger cast in future installments. A fifth movie starring the original Jackass stars while incorporating more celebrity appearances and the younger cast would be a perfect way to keep the series going for years to come. And hopefully, by the time the cameras roll on a fifth film, Bam Margera's recovery is continuing in a positive direction so he can participate in the next installment. I know this lifelong Jackass fan would love to see his return to the franchise.

In an era of entertainment in which everything old is new again, a comedy poking fun at the idea of reboots, revivals and reimaginings could be a risky venture. But if anybody’s up for the task, it makes sense that it would be Modern Family creator Steve Levitan. Hulu’s new comedy Reboot takes aim at everything that is right and wrong about sitcoms, remake culture and comedy in today’s climate, and it does it with the most spectacular ensemble cast in the most appropriately meta way — with a TV show about a TV show. 

Keegan-Michael Key stars as an actor who played the patriarch of the fictional 2000s-era sitcom Step Right Up, which is receiving a modern-day revival, courtesy of Rachel Bloom’s Hannah. It’s a constant battle between her hopes to update the series with a more meaningful look at the series' family dynamics and original creator Gordon Gelman’s old-school (read: bordering on problematic) sitcom tactics. The result is comedy gold that everyone can enjoy, and here are the reasons you should fire up that Hulu subscription to watch Reboot. 

Johnny Knoxville Is The Perfect Jackass, But Not How We’re Used To Seeing Him 

Jackass star Johnny Knoxville plays Clay Barber, who plays the ex-husband Jake on the fictional sitcom. Clay’s life off-screen has been mired in drugs, alcohol and arrests, and at the time of the revival, we see him trying to clean up his act. That means he desperately needs this revival to work out — even if he continues to struggle with his demons — and honestly, his best moments are when he’s fighting against those baser instincts. 

Clay inadvertently becomes involved with Susan (played by the wonderful Kerri Kenney), the mother of Step Right Up’s former child star, who still hangs around her grown son’s set. Knoxville has no right being this damn funny as his character tries to navigate that awkward situation and, as you'd expect, a number of other scenarios. 

Calum Worthy Is The Best Worst Former Child Star Ever In Return To Sitcoms 

It’s so hard to single out any one or two actors in this amazing ensemble, because they are all worthy of praise, but Calum Worthy, like Johnny Knoxville, is just too good in this role. His performance as obnoxious former child star Zack Jackson feels like it should be grating, but it’s just brilliant. Zack’s wide-eyed naivety is only bolstered by his colleagues’ inability to acknowledge that he’s an adult now.

Like his character, Calum Worthy was a child actor, getting his start at 10 years old. The former Disney star is known for his role as Dez on Austin & Ally, but has since appeared in in multiple genres, also playing Nicholas Godejohn in the Hulu series The Act and Young Jasper in Netflix’s book-to-screen adaptation of Pieces of Her. The meta aspect of Worthy returning to sitcoms as a former child star is a thing of beauty. 

Judy Greer Shines In The Leading Role She’s Always Deserved 

Judy Greer has a long (and fabulous) career of supporting roles. Whether she’s the best friend, the kooky co-worker or the main character’s mother/daughter/sister, Greer is all too often the best part of projects that under-utilize her talents. Well, say goodbye to those! In Reboot she is the leading lady Bree Marie Jensen, who played the matriarch in Step Right Up before marrying the duke of a small European country. It’s no surprise that Greer nails every assignment, making even the tropiest of tropes feel more refreshing than overcooked. 

The Cast Of Comedy Veterans Appeals To Multiple Demographics 

When we think of multigenerational comedies, Modern Family comes to mind (for good reason), and while Reboot also is a product of Steven Levitan, it touches multiple demographics in a completely different way than the ABC sitcom. The A+ cast boasts comedy stars from three different decades, including Paul Reiser (Mad About You), Rose Abdoo (Gilmore Girls), Judy Greer (Arrested Development), Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele), Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), and the list goes on. 

In the same way that Hacks pits Gen Z’s Ava (Hannah Einbinder) against Baby Boomer Deborah Vance (Jean Smart), the characters in Reboot are able to make honest and often scathing social assessments about each other without alienating any segment of the home audience. Some of the best scenes take place in the writers’ room, where the young writers are constantly cringing at the veterans’ crass conversations and tired ideas of comedy, while the older writers are flummoxed by the new generation’s penchant for writing “jokes” that aren’t funny. 

Reboot Does Meta The Right Way, And Yes, There Will Be Tropes 

Rather than having the well-worn comedy plotlines play out on the fictional Step Right Up, Reboot incorporates the tropes right into the main story, and it just works. An argument in the writer’s room over whether or not it's funny when someone trips over something will inevitably end with one of them doing just that. Reed (Keegan-Michael Key) navigates the complexities of working with Bree (Judy Greer), who he used to date, despite currently being “in a committed relationship.” Even the obligatory “character gets too drunk/high and makes a fool of themselves” feels fresh when done by this cast with these scripts. 

It’s The Best Show About A Show Since 30 Rock 

There have been some truly iconic series that explore the behind-the-scenes happenings of fictional TV shows, with 30 Rock providing some of the funniest inside jokes. Tina Fey’s NBC comedy had its own star-studded cast to satirize Saturday Night Live, and Reboot could be the equivalent for a series parodying the best TGIF sitcoms. Step Right Up’s opening credits feel very Full House, and it’s so much fun to see the result of multiple generations trying to figure out what that kind of series would look like today.

TV viewers with any kind of appreciation for sitcoms should definitely check out Reboot, especially if you’re willing to laugh at the more ridiculous aspects. From an A+ cast to hilarious writing and meta plotlines, we can only hope this Reboot will see more seasons to come. As far as ratings go, at least those handed out by the Motion Picture Association, there is nothing more extreme these days than NC-17. That means no one under the age of 18 can be admitted to a movie with this rating for a multitude of reasons.

Some directors, producers, and studios will re-cut their films to get an R-rating, but there are plenty of NC-17 movies that have been left unedited and sent out into the wild as is, which has resulted in limited releases of some of the most notorious movies of all time. Henry & June (1990) - Fred Ward, Uma Thurman

What better way to start than with the very first movie to earn the NC-17 rating – according to SlashFilm – Henry & June. Director Philip Kaufman’s adaptation of Anaïs Nin’s memoir focuses on a love triangle between novelist Henry Miller (Fred Ward), his wife, June (Uma Thurman), and the French-American author (portrayed by Thurman’s future fellow Pulp Fiction cast member, Maria de Medeiros) in 1930s Paris. Despite its controversially explicit sexual content, the drama was a mild critical and commercial success and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography.

Killer Joe (2012) - Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple

Directed by the late William Friedkin and written by 2019’s Little Women cast member Tracy Letts (also based on his stage play), Killer Joe stars Emile Hirsch as an indebted young man who hatches a plan to have his mother (played by Gina Gershon) killed to collect insurance money. Matthew McConaughey gives one of his most underrated performances as the titular hitman he hires, whose fee is so high that he agrees to let his teenage sister (Juno Temple) be treated as collateral.

According to Deadline, the shamelessly twisted crime thriller was released with an NC-17 rating after Friedkin and distributor LD Entertainment opted not to change its ending. While an R-rated version of the film was later made available for home viewing, those interested in seeing it in its original form could also seek out the unrated director’s cut of Killer Joe instead.

Mysterious Skin (2004) - Joseph Gordon-Levitt

One of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s best movies from earlier in his career is Mysterious Skin, in which he plays a gay teen making a living as a sex worker who recalls a disturbing encounter from his childhood through narration. Meanwhile, another teen, played by Brady Corbet, struggles to figure out the truth behind a blackout he suffered when he was younger, leading the two men to cross paths unexpectedly.

Writer and director Gregg Araki is notorious for including pervasive sexual content in his films, but the NC-17 rating for Mysterious Skin – also starring Elisabeth Shue and Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast member Michelle Trachtenberg – was largely determined by its graphic depiction of pedophilia. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the challenging subject matter sparked controversy when the Australian Family Association feared child predators could use the film as a grooming tool or for their own gratification.

Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (1989) - Antonio Banderas

In one of his many racy collaborations with writer and director Pedro Almodóvar, Antonio Banderas stars in Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! as Ricky, who is released from a mental hospital with the intent of finding love. So, he tracks down a former adult film star, played by Victoria Abril, whom he once shared an intimate encounter with and takes her prisoner in hopes he can convince her to be his wife.

According to Gwyne Edwards’ 2001 book Almodóvar: Labyrinths of Passion, the controversial subject matter of Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! was instrumental in the creation of the NC-17 rating itself. Thus, the MPA branded it as such in 1990 for a “scene of strong adult sensuality with nudity,” according to FilmRatings.com.

Blonde (2022) - Ana de Armas

Based on the book by Joyce Carol Oates, Blonde is director Andrew Dominik’s in-depth and fictionalized look at the tragically short life of Norma Jeane Baker, better known as Marilyn Monroe. Ana de Armas disappears into the role of one of Hollywood’s most iconic figures, portraying a side of the actress and model that was long kept hidden from the public.

Dominik once said that he anticipated his nearly three-hour biopic would be rated NC-17 before the MPA made it official in June 2022, citing “some sexual content” as the reasoning. The film’s more hardcore scenes would inspire some strong reactions from both critics and audiences since it was made available to stream in 2022.

Crash (1996) - James Spader, Holly Hunter

Not to be confused with director Paul Haggis’ Best Picture Oscar winner from 2005, Crash is one of the more bizarre and inventive movies directed by David Cronenberg (which is really saying something). Based on the novel by J.G. Ballard, it stars James Spader as a TV producer who becomes seduced into an unusual and dangerous obsession with car wrecks and the intense, sexually stimulating effect they seem to have on him and others, including his mistress (played by Holly Hunter).

Just from learning the plot, it seems pretty clear why a movie like Crash would have been given the NC-17 rating and why it inspired controversy so pervasive that it was chronicled in a 2001 book called The Crash Controversy: Censorship Campaigns and Film Reception. Nonetheless, it was still relatively well-received by critics, according to Rotten Tomatoes, and earned Cronenberg a Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, despite vehement opposition from the jury’s then-president, Francis Ford Coppola.

Descent (2007) - Rosario Dawson

Not to be confused with the Scottish 2005 horror movie THE Descent, this film sees Rosario Dawson giving her most provocative and extreme performance since she broke out in another controversial classic, Kids. This time, she plays a woman who undergoes a dramatic and violent change of character after she is assaulted by a man she meets at a fraternity party.

This brutal and upsetting revenge drama was actually released with two alternative cuts: one rated NC-17 and an R-rated edit that omits seven minutes of footage. Still, both versions contain brutal rape, language, some sexual content and drug use.

Showgirls (1995) - Elizabeth Berkley, Kyle MacLachlan

Perhaps the most infamous movie on this list, Paul Verhoeven’s 1995 erotic cult classic, Showgirls, stars a post-Save by the Bell Elizabeth Berkley as a young drifter named Nomi Malone. As she hitchhikes to Las Vegas with dreams of becoming a famous dancer on the Strip, she has some ups and downs on her journey, but finally makes her dreams come true, at a price…

According to the MPA, Showgirls was given its NC-17 rating due to the amount of nudity and erotic sexuality throughout the movie, as well as graphic language and sexual violence. If you’ve seen the movie (and not the VH1 version with digitized bras), you’re well aware of the film’s graphic nature.

Shame (2011) - Michael Fassbender, Carey Mulligan

Released in 2011, Steve McQueen’s psychological drama, Shame, stars Michael Fassbender as Brandon Sullivan – a successful and dashing executive who is secretly a traumatized sex addict who will do anything and everything to get his kicks in New York City. Just when he thinks life can’t get any worse, his equally damaged sister (Carey Mulligan) storms into his life, causing more complications.

Upon release, Shame was given an NC-17 rating by the MPA for explicit sexual content as well as some truly troubling scenes. I’ve walked out of several movies before, but this was the first I exited simply because what was happening on the screen was way too real and unnerving to finish.

Blue Is The Warmest Color (2013) - Léa Seydoux 

Abdellatif Kechiche’s 2013 French drama, Blue is the Warmest Color, stars Adèle Exarchopoulos as a high school student who experiences a sexual awakening after meeting an art school student and aspiring painter named Emma, played by James Bond movies actor, Léa Seydoux. Over the years, the two form a contentious and highly-emotional relationship that opens their eyes to a whole new world around them.

Though tamer than some of the other titles on this list, Blue is the Warmest Color was given an NC-17 rating because of the explicit sexual content the MPA felt was unsuitable for younger audiences. However, at least one theater allowed teens to watch the movie upon release.

Bad Lieutenant (1992) - Harvey Keitel

Abel Ferrara’s 1992 crime thriller Bad Lieutenant follows Harvey Keitel as a broken NYPD detective whose stress over his job, life, and gambling habits get the best of him. From one interaction to the next, the unnamed lieutenant falls deeper down the rabbit hole of depravity, committing some irredeemable crimes of his own along the way.

If there has ever been a movie deserving of an NC-17 rating it would have to be Bad Lieutenant. With an abundance of sexual violence, intense sexual situations, endless drug use, and extreme language throughout, it’s no wonder the MPA came down hard on the movie, which later inspired a sequel only in name, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, starring Nicolas Cage and directed by Werner Herzog.

Orgazmo (1997) - Trey Parker, Matt Stone

Co-writer and director Trey Parker plays a normal Mormon missionary trying to find enough money to support and marry his longtime girlfriend. But when he stumbles upon a porn set, the once strait-laced and deeply devoted young man becomes the biggest thing going in the adult entertainment industry in Orgazmo.

It should come as no surprise that a movie written by the creators of South Park, and one centered on the porn industry, would receive an NC-17 rating from the MPA in 1998. It should come as even less of a surprise that the rating was handed down due to the sexual content and dialogue featured throughout.

Bent (1997) - Clive Owen, Ian McKellen

After being discovered and arrested by the Gestapo in Nazi Germany, Max – a proud gay man played by Clive Owen – is sent on a perilous journey to the Dachau concentration camp where he is subjected to indescribable horrors while still being able to find love.

Possibly one of the most harrowing movies about the Holocaust, Sean Mathias’ 1997 drama Bent is absolutely heartbreaking and disturbing with its graphic displays of violence. Upon its release, the movie received an NC-17 rating from the MPA due to its graphic sexual nature.

Matador (1986) - Antonio Banderas

In one of his most disturbing roles, Antonio Banderas plays Angel, a young student who confesses to an attempted rape and a series of murders he may or may not have committed, in Pedro Almodóvar’s 1986 dark comedy, Matador.

Just like some of the other movies featuring the director and actor, Matador pushed the limits with its dark, twisted, and oddly humorous story. Still, the MPA would later give the film an NC-17 rating in 2005 (nearly 20 years after initial release) due to “aberrant sexuality” and violence.

The Dreamers (2003) - Eva Green, Michael Pitt

In the midst of the 1968 Student Riots in Paris, an American student named Matthew (played by Michael Pitt) finds himself getting caught up in the lives of formerly conjoined twins – Louis Garrel as Théo and Eva Green as Isabelle – whose relationship is far from normal. When asked to spend a month with the siblings, Matthew falls deeper into their wild and free-flowing lifestyle.

Bernardo Bertolucci’s 2003 erotic drama, The Dreamers, pushes several boundaries and deviates from societal norms to tell a story about young love in the midst of a chaotic time. With the extreme sexual content and nudity, it’s no surprise the MPA gave the movie an NC-17 rating upon release.

A Dirty Shame (2004) - Selma Blair, Johnny Knoxville

A John Waters movie receiving an NC-17 rating? You don’t say! The filthy filmmaker’s 2004 comedy, A Dirty Shame, follows Tracey Ullman as Sylvia Stickles– a puritanical resident of the Hatford Road area of Baltimore who experiences a sexual awakening after being hit by a car. 

Selma Blair, Johnny Knoxville, and Chris Isaak also star in A Dirty Shame, which (no shocker here) was given the NC-17 rating by the MPA due to its pervasive sexual content. And if you’ve seen the movie, you are all too aware of just how pervasive and graphic it is.

Pink Flamingos (1972) - Divine

When Connie (Mink Stole) and Raymond Marble (David Lochary) attempt to steal Babs Johnson’s (Divine) title of “the filthiest person alive,” the down and dirty criminal and her family make it their mission in life to prevent the newcomers from accomplishing their mission by any means necessary.

With scenes featuring incest, people eating dog poop, flashers, and an infamously notorious scene involving a chicken, it shouldn’t shock anyone that John Waters’ classic exploitation comedy film, Pink Flamingos, was given an NC-17 rating by the MPA upon re-release in 1997, 25 years after it first shocked audiences around the world. Maybe that’s why Roger Ebert hated the movie.

The Evil Dead (1981) - Bruce Campbell

Bruce Campbell stars in the film that kickstarted the Evil Dead franchise as Ash Williams who – along with his girlfriend and a small group of friends – set off for a night away in an isolated cabin. However, the night quickly takes a turn for the worst after they discover the Necronomicon – a powerful book that awakens possessive, malevolent spirits.

Sam Raimi’s classic horror film, The Evil Dead, was initially released with an X rating back in 1981 on account of its substantial graphic violence and gore. It was later given an NC-17 by the MPA when the movie was re-released back in 1994.

BONUS: Elles (2011) - Juliette Binoche

The title of Elles refers to the French magazine, Elle, for which Juliette Binoche’s character is researching an article about an underground sex worker ring orchestrated by female college students in Paris. However, the closer she gets to the facts behind the story, the more she begins to question her own personal interests. Graphic sexual content that goes as far as urinary fetishes initially earned this drama from Polish filmmaker Malgoska Szumowska an NC-17 rating.

BONUS: Happiness (1998) - Philip Seymour Hoffman 

The late Philip Seymour Hoffman plays one of several interconnected people all searching desperately for the most coveted emotion there is: happiness. Of course, their chosen ways of acquiring it are exactly the kind of reasons this Golden Globe nominee was initially given an NC-17 rating. 

Also starring the likes of Trick ‘r Treat’s Dylan Baker, Twin Peaks cast member Lara Flynn Boyle, and SNL’s Jon Lovitz, Happiness is one of the darkest comedies of its time. However, that does not mean so much when you learn it comes from writer and director Todd Solondz.

Elles and Happiness are some of a few notable examples of films that surrendered their NC-17 ratings upon release and are now deemed “unrated,” such as the aforementioned Kids. However, they are just as challenging and provocative as any of the films listed above, which is why we’ll still count them as NC-17 in our book.

Celebrity Family Feud wrapped up its eighth season on September 22, pitting members of the cast of Jackass against each other for an hour of shocking — yes, I mean that literally — entertainment. Even if audiences went into the episode expecting antics, their hopes were likely exceeded, as the consistently funny host Steve Harvey joined with the masochistic stunt performers for absolute comedy gold. 

Whereas the celebrity version of the game show usually features two games with four different teams of famous faces to fill the 60 minutes, just one game was played in this finale, with six members on each team rather than the typical five. It was quickly apparent why this cast in particular couldn’t be squeezed into a 30-minute slot, and the viewers were the beneficiaries of a truly laugh-out-loud hour of television. Here are 7 of the funniest moments from Celebrity Family Feud’s season finale featuring the cast of Jackass: 

1. Steve Harvey’s Reaction To Twinning With Johnny Knoxville 

The shenanigans started right away, as the always dapper Steve Harvey strutted onto the stage in a maroon suit jacket with black shirt, tie and shoes… which just so happened to be the exact same outfit that Johnny Knoxville was wearing. The host barely got through the introduction, as he kept looking back at the contestant, and finally went to hilariously address their twinning ways. Harvey told Knoxville: 

While the crew were unanimous in the sentiment that Steve Harvey wore it better, the host remained impressed, continuing to comment on their matchy matchy suits for the first portion of the episode. You can check out the introduction in the video above. 

2. Steve Harvey Explains Why You Don’t Want To Fight ‘Old Dudes’  

When introducing both teams, the Jackass cast informed the host that Jasper Dolphin and his dad Dark Shark sparred so often that they needed boxing gloves, which prompted Steve Harvey to school the 31-year-old son in why he, in fact, did NOT want to throw hands with his father. He explained: 

Now, I have never heard anybody threaten to bite someone in their hair, and Steve Harvey’s whole spiel had me howling. Watch the full exchange for yourself in the above video at around the 8 minute mark.  

3. Johnny Knoxville Tases His Teammates For Stupid Answers 

Teams on Family Feud usually present a united front, and even for the most boneheaded of answers, family members will still clap and shout out, “Good answer!” like they’re trying to speak it into existence. Johnny Knoxville doesn’t play that way. After Dave England got a strike for what was deemed “a terrible answer,” Knoxville lunged at him, tasing his teammate in the chest! Check it out in the above video just after the 3 minute mark. 

The taser remained a threat for the rest of the game, but in case you question the fairness of Johnny Knoxville wielding all the power, just know that he later tased himself over his own stupid response.

4. The Host Trolls Zach Holmes For Not Even Trying 

Just like the members of the respective teams on Family Feud, Steve Harvey is generally pretty supportive of those trying to come up with answers. Sure, he’ll throw a mean side-eye at some of the more off-the-wall responses, and he knows exactly what makes these answers go viral. But rarely does the host come down as hard as he did on Zach Holmes, who stared blankly ahead until he was buzzed with a strike. Harvey lamented:

Zach Holmes wasn’t on Johnny Knoxville’s team, but maybe he was still rendered speechless at the threat of being tased, as his own teammates lobbied for Knoxville to hand the weapon over after Holmes remained mum. You can watch it go down at the 2:30 mark above. 

5. Wee Man Got A Shocking Surprise During His Face-Off 

Wee Man seemed to suspect something was coming, as he stood front and center for his face-off question. He learned the hard way that Johnny Knoxville’s taser wasn’t the only shocker of the night, because when Steve Harvey started to read the question, a surge of electricity went through the gray block that Wee Man had his hand on, causing him to shout in pain. Suffice it to say that nobody else put their hand on the gray blocks for the remainder of the episode. See the electrifying moment at the beginning of the video above.

6. Steve Harvey’s Primal Scream Over ‘Monkey In A Loincloth’ Response 

“If Tarzan were a magician, he might pull a ‘blank’ out of his loincloth.” Like so many questions on Family Feud, this one just invites trouble, and as we’d come to realize with this group, trouble is no problem. While the responses of “banana,” “Jane” and even “ball” were funny enough, it was Dark Shark’s initial response of “monkey” that sent Steve Harvey over the edge. 

Some of the comedian’s funniest moments on the show have come when Steve Harvey acts out a contestant’s answer, so you knew something good was coming when the host joked about needing to get the monkey out of his loincloth. He emitted the most hysterical shriek, which you should witness for yourself, just past the 1 minute mark in the clip above. 

7. The Host Gets Real About Team Knoxville’s Performance 

Ahead of the final round before Fast Money, Johnny Knoxville’s team had failed to procure any points. Steve Harvey, still on fire after calling out Zach Holmes for his lack of effort, proceeded to lay out the dire situation Team Knoxville faced as they prepared to attempt a steal, thus forcing Sudden Death. The host explained they had one shot to extend the game, before exclaiming: 

I’d like to know how many people would be in support of incorporating a taser into all future episodes of Family Feud. It definitely seemed to serve as motivation! Steve Harvey’s pep talk starts just before 3 minutes in the video above.

Reviving hit sitcoms is a trend that has dominated TV (or streaming, more accurately) for years — such as with Netflix’s Full House sequel series, Fuller House, or Paramount+’s follow-up to Nickelodeon’s iCarly, more recently. Part of the fun of seeing the stories of these classic comedies continued as opposed to being remade is the original cast coming back to the spotlight and reuniting for the first time in a while. But, what if the actors are merely a shell of their former selves and a reunion with the former co-stars comes with disastrous results? That is the question that Reboot asks and answers in a hilarious fashion.

From Modern Family co-creator Steven Levitan, this new Hulu original September release chronicles the Hulu exclusive revival of a (fictional) family-friendly, early-2000s sitcom called Step Right Up. While things do not go so well behind the scenes when the show’s original cast members and creator are brought in to work together again, I cannot imagine the talented Reboot cast facing the same issues. Speaking of, let’s dive deeper into the hilarious, self-aware world of this new comedy by shedding light on who plays whom and where you know them from.

Keegan-Michael Key (Reed)

Playing Reed — an actor with a failed post-Step Right Up film career — is Keegan-Michael Key, who is already one of the biggest names in comedy from co-headlining the hit sketch series, Key & Peele, with his former MADtv co-star Jordan Peele, with whom he would also reunite on the big screen in Keanu and Toy Story 4. 

His other notable cinematic endeavors include Shane Black’s The Predator, Mike Birbiglia’s Don’t Think Twice, a couple of Disney remakes (2019’s The Lion King and Pinocchio from 2022), the Hotel Transylvania movies, and several Netflix original comedies like Dolemite is My Name and The Bubble, more recently. Reboot actually marks only his latest time on a TV comedy ensemble following the likes of Playing House, Netflix’s Friends from College, and the Apple TV+ musical fantasy Schmigadoon!

Johnny Knoxville (Clay)

As Clay — an actor with a post-Step Right Up criminal record — we have Johnny Knoxville, who most know best as one of the boldly immature pranksters from MTV’s Jackass and its many feature-length spin-offs, subsequently. However, years of risking his life on camera would soon earn him a relatively impressive acting career, as well, that includes low-brow comedies like 2005’s The Dukes of Hazzard and the surprisingly heartfelt The Ringer from 2006, and action moves starring the likes of Will Smith (Men in Black II), Dwayne Johnson (2004’s Walking Tall), Arnold Schwarzenegger (2014’s The Last Stand), Jackie Chan (2016’s Skiptrace), and Mads Mikkelsen (2019’s Polar).

Knoxville also voiced Leonardo in the new, live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies and has even done earnest dramas like Lords of Dogtown and the 2019 horror film, We Summon the Darkness, but Reboot actually marks his first time joining a scripted TV series’ main ensemble.

Judy Greer (Bree)

Bree — an actor with a disappointing post-Step Right Up TV career — is played by Judy Greer, who has been a standout in many main ensembles on TV shows of various genres, such as Showtime’s The First Lady cast and on FX’s Archer voice cast as Cheryl Tunt, most notably. 

However, she is even more prolific as a scene-stealer in some of the biggest blockbuster franchises — like the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ant-Man’s ex, Jurassic World as the sister of Bryce Dallas Howard’s character, or as the daughter of Laurie Strode in the latest Halloween movies. Greer has also starred in some highly acclaimed cinematic favorites like Steven Soderbergh’s Three Kings from 1999, 2004’s 13 Going on 30, the Oscar-winning dramedy The Descendants from 2011, and plenty more.

Paul Reiser (Gordon)

As Gordon — the creator of the original Step Right Up — we have Paul Reiser, who has some real-life experience with sitcoms (such as My Two Dads in the 1980s and the ‘80s-set Amazon original Red Oaks more recently) and reboots, having revived his own ’90s sitcom, Mad About You, as a Spectrum original in 2019. 

The comedian debuted in Barry Levinson’s Diner in 1982, played the human antagonist of Aliens four years later, and gave a memorable performance in Damien Chazelle’s Oscar-winning feature-length debut, Whiplash, in 2014. Reboot is the latest in what appears to be something of a comeback for Reiser that also includes his recurring role on Netflix’s The Kominsky Method, his enlarged role in the Stranger Things cast in Season 4, his awesome cameo on The Boys, and his return to the Beverly Hills Cop franchise in the upcoming fourth installment.

Rachel Bloom (Hannah)

Playing Hannah — who pitches Hulu the idea to revive Step Right Up — is Rachel Bloom, the Emmy-winning star and co-creator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend who was previously best known for a serious of funny, musical shorts and a brief role on How I Met Your Mother in Season 7. 

Since then, her big claim to fame has been mostly voice acting roles — such as recurring spots on Bojack Horseman and Robot Chicken, playing Batgirl in 2019’s Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or Barb in the Trolls 2: World Tour cast, to name a few. Bloom also recently appeared on the aforementioned iCarly revival and opposite fellow Reboot cast member, Keegan-Michael Key, in Disney+’s Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers in 2022.

Calum Worthy (Zach)

As Zach — the now-grown-up, former child star of Step Right Up — we have the now-grown-up, former child actor Calum Worthy, whose previous sitcom experience mainly involves Disney Channel — such as Austin & Ally, most notably — but he also appeared on three episodes of Psych and had a pivotal role on Netflix’s mockumentary style true crime parody, American Vandal. 

His dramatic TV work ranges from guest spots on series like Stargate: Atlantis, Smallville, or Supernatural to joining the ensemble of Hulu’s true crime miniseries, The Act, or lending his voice to Pacific Rim: The Black for Netflix. Worthy made his feature-length debut in 2004 with Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, went on to play a teenage cyborg in 2007’s The Last Mimzy, and later was the lead of the 2017 rap battle film, Bodied.

Krista Marie Yu (Elaine)

Playing Elaine — Hulu’s new Vice President of Comedy, despite being “new to humor” — we have Krista Marie Yu, who is actually well-versed in humor from playing the title characters' daughter on Dr. Ken and foreign exchange student, Jen, on Last Man Standing. She also appeared on other TV comedies like Cougar Town, The Middle, and Nickelodeon’s The Thundermans, and funny movies like 2012’s Fun Size (with Reboot  co-star Johnny Knoxville) and 2015's Love the Coopers. 

Yu is also no stranger to drama, having starred in the 2016 horror movie, The Darkness, and landed small roles on the likes of Parenthood, the MCU-canon period adventure series, Agent Carter, and Netflix’s animated reboot of Carmen Sandiego, more recently.

They certainly don’t make sitcoms like Step Right Up anymore and it is rare to see such a star-studded ensemble of talented comedic actors like the Reboot cast all in one place. Check them out by streaming this Hollywood satire on Hulu, Tuesday, September 20, 2022.

TV watchers have seen a number of beloved properties find new life due to reboots, revivals and spinoffs as of late. Earlier this year, fans were delighted by the release of Jackass Forever, the long awaited fourth main theatrical adaptation of the MTV classic. The film saw Johnny Knoxville and co. back to doing what they do best: entertaining fans with wild, funny and very painful stunts. Some might say that it’s a sweet mixture of extreme crotch pain and nostalgia. The film proved to be a success and, now, Knoxville and his pals are now headed back to the small screen for a new series. 

A brand-new Jackass show is officially headed to Paramount+, and the original creators are collaborating the streamer to produce it. The major news was revealed by Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish during the company’s Q1 earnings call. According to the exec, the move was indeed spurred by the success of the latest movie. And with the noise that the flick made at the box office, it’s not hard to see why the entertainment entity would want to keep the momentum going. 

The series' latest feature, directed by Jeff Tremaine, scored an opening weekend haul of $23.5 million when it hit theaters back in February. By the end of its run, the film had earned $80.3 million worldwide against its $10 million budget. The production also received mostly positive reviews from critics and longtime fans. While the outrageous stunts were lauded, many seemed most impressed with the faithfulness to the series' hilarious and raunchy roots. 

The OG show premiered on MTV in 2000 and, despite receiving backlash for its dangerous stunts, it garnered a loyal following. After the series ended in 2001 after three seasons, it eventually grew into a true franchise, one that birthed an array of small and big-screen spinoffs. Considering where things began, it’s pretty poetic that the cast and crew would find their way back to television now.

There are a few things that need to be considered, though. First off, will the OG players take center stage here, or with this new production focus mostly on the new cast members introduced in Forever? Some of the veterans did the flick as their last hurrah, so it could be the end for them in front of the camera. Thankfully, newcomers like Jasper Dolphin, Rachel Wolfson and Sean "Poopies" McInerney (who experienced his “gnarliest” injury off camera) more than proved that they can handle the pain, so they could definitely lead it. Though fans would probably still hope to see veterans like Wee Man and Danger Ehren McGhehey, who proved to be a surprise scene-stealer in the latest theatrical installment.

And of course, there’s also the matter of the actual stunts that could potentially be performed. The fourth main movie went hard in the paint (or crotch, so to speak) when it came to upping the danger level. Seeing Steve-O turn his penis into a beehive and Preston Lacy getting his testicles beaten like a punching bag was pretty surreal. Let’s also not forget that wild bull stunt, which resulted in brain damage for Johnny Knoxville. (And he doesn’t regret performing the act.) Fans have praised the sequence, and the cast even believes it to be Oscar-worthy.

One can only imagine what Johnny Knoxville and the gang are cooking up for this new Jackass show. With any luck, it’ll continue to propel the franchise forward while staying true to what’s made it so beloved. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to laugh, gasp and tear up while watching more insane antics.

There are a lot of factors that make WrestleMania stand out more than any other event in professional wrestling each year, with everything from the annual show being held at massive football stadiums to featuring appearances from icons of the industry like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin (who returned to the ring at WrestleMania 38). But, another longstanding tradition at the “Showcase of the Immortals” is the involvement of celebrity guests in various segments throughout the show.

Most of these appearances are typically non-consequential to any given match, but it was a completely different story for WrestleMania, which saw YouTube star Logan Paul, the Jackass crew, and Pat McAfee take part in several high-profile bouts. As crazy as it sounds, these guests actually helped make the “Granddaddy of Them All” one for the ages, and here’s why…

Logan Paul Is Apparently A Skilled Professional Wrestler

Just like his brother, Logan Paul is a natural-born heel who has nuclear heat with the crowd whenever and wherever he appears on WWE TV. While having heat and charisma doesn’t always translate to success in the ring, that’s far from the case with the YouTube star. During the tag match where he teamed up with The Miz to take on the Mysterios at Night One of WrestleMania 38, Paul showed time and time again that he’s actually a fairly skilled professional wrestler.

With a dominating power-slam, an impressive Blockbuster from the top rope, and other surprising bursts of offense, Paul looked to be in his element throughout the match and proved he was more than someone who needed to be carried. It all came to fruition in the final moments of the match, when he not only channelled Eddie Guerrero’s famous frog splash (after doing a little shimmy on the turnbuckle), but also with the late wrestler’s iconic “Three Amigos” suplex tandem. All I can say is, this kid can go.

The YouTube Star Set Himself Up For A Really Exciting Feud After The Match

Almost immediately after The Miz and Logan Paul secured the victory over the Mysterios at WrestleMania 38, the former turned on the latter by putting him in a “Skull-Crushing Finale” that was admittedly fairly shocking. Even though Paul is a natural heel who you just can’t help but boo, the shocking double-cross by his partner could be the first step to establishing him as a babyface. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (via WrestlingInc), this face turn for the avid Pokemon collector was reportedly part of his deal all along.

This doesn’t mean we should expect to see Paul show up and continue his feud with The Miz ahead of WrestleMania Backlash, but don’t be surprised if he shows up in time for SummerSlam in July, another show that has made good use of celebrity guests in recent years. This could be the start of an interesting and exciting feud between the two Cleveland natives.

The Johnny Knoxville And Sami Zayn Match Was So Much Better Than Expected

Going in, I had a feeling the “Anything Goes Match” between Johnny Knoxville and Sami Zayn was going to be a fun match full of crazy stunts and comedic spots, but these two great performers instead gave us one of the highlights of the second night of in-ring action. The match started out in spectacularly brutal fashion when Zayn hit Knoxville with a Helluva Kick just after the bell rang, and the stuntman took it like a champ. And, it only got better from there.

With multiple weapons including a fire extinguisher, a table covered in mouse traps, and a giant mousetrap, the match played out like an unused scene from Jackass Forever, and was honestly one of the best WWE hardcore matches since the Attitude Era. It was gimmicky and it was silly, but it was a reminder of how much fun a match like this can be if handled properly.

Actually, The Entire Jackass Crew Showed How Silly Gimmick Matches Can Be Fun

Who would have thought that Wee Man body-slamming Sami Zayn would become one of the most talked about moments of WrestleMania 38? As great as Johnny Knoxville and Zayn were throughout the match, the whole ordeal reached new levels when other members of the Jackass crew inserted themselves into the action. From the aforementioned slam heard around the world, to Chris Pontius bringing out the “Party Boy” character, the veteran stuntmen made it all the more memorable.

It’s sort of ironic that six years ago, Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose met for a similar match at WrestleMania 32 (which was also at AT&T Stadium) that fell flat and left no one better off. The Jackass contest, however, was the opposite, and reminded us all just how much fun a match like this can be despite being incredibly silly and far-fetched. If this is the end of the Jackass crew’s story with WWE, then it went out on quite a high note.

The Whole Pat McAfee/Vince McMahon Angle Was Outrageous And I Loved Every Minute Of It  

After Pat McAfee defeated Austin Theory in a decent enough match at WrestleMania 38, fans got what they wanted all along when Vince McMahon challenged the former NFL punter and current SmackDown commentator and successful radio show host to a match. Although it was sloppy and ended with McMahon kicking a football into McAfee’s stomach for a 1-2-3, it was absolutely stupendous and led to some of the best moments of Night Two. 

Not only did we get to see the WWE Chairman wrestle his first official match since taking on CM Punk on a 2012 episode of Monday Night Raw, the entire saga led to the arrival of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, who wrestled his first match in 19 years the previous night. This is where it turned into pure entertainment, with McMahon taking his first “Stone Cold Stunner” in forever and an endless series of beers being thrown into the ring. Then came the icing on the cake, when McAfee lived every ‘90s wrestling fan’s dream by drinking a beer with “Stone Cold” before taking a stunner of his own.

All in all, WrestleMania 38 featured celebrity guests in a way that is lightyears beyond what WWE has done in the past, and hopefully this is a trend that continues. You can watch all those matches and the rest of the show on replay with a Peacock Premium Subscription.

There were a lot of big crowd reactions during the two nights of WrestleMania, none bigger, of course, than the ones for Stone Cold Steve Austin, but if you were to make a list of the biggest pops of the entire weekend, it would have to include the one Wee Man got. The daredevil made a surprise appearance along with Party Boy Chris Pontius and other Jackass stars during Johnny Knoxville’s match with Sami Zayn, and the crowd of more than 75,000 roared their approval, climaxing when Wee Man picked up Knoxville’s opponent and body-slammed him.

The match, which has been the culmination of a months long feud, started with Johnny Knoxville eating a vicious boot to the head and continued with the Jackass star absorbing a fair amount of punishment. Partway through, as things looked particularly bleak for Knoxville, Chris Pontius did his Party Boy bit to the roar of the crowd. It went over quite well before he too took some shots and was thrown to the outside. He later crawled under the ring, and as Zayn reached in, he got hit with a punch and out came Wee Man. 

The crowd went nuts. They cheered like it was a main event babyface. Zayn rolled into the ring, Wee Man followed him, delivered a kick and then executed a nice little body slam, which had fans on Twitter referencing Andre The Giant and Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 3. Everything about this match just worked, including by the way that well-executed Tornado DTD by Knoxville you could see at the end of that clip. The crowd was into it throughout. Sami Zayn did a tremendous job of playing along and selling for the entire crew. Knoxville took a few big bumps, including one through a table, and there were just the right number of surprises. That’s the thing. It’s not about always trying to do the most technically sophisticated match. It’s about doing what’s right for that particular match, and everyone involved here just nailed this one.

Other big spots during the match included Knoxville hitting Zayn with a bowling ball in a less than ideal location, Zayn being thrown through a table with mousetraps on it and Wee Man eating a vicious Heeluva Kick to the face. We also got to see others from the Jackass Crew, as well, as Jeff Tremaine, Jasper and Dark Shark also jumped from their ringside seats to help Knoxville put Zayn into a giant mousetrap for the pin. All that were missing were Steve-O (who had a tour date), Preston and a few other favorites who missed for various reasons.

The body slam was also a fair bit of revenge for Wee Man. Knoxville made an appearance earlier this year at WWE’s Royal Rumble. During that weekend, the crew ran into Brock Lesnar out to eat at a restaurant, and after some good-natured shit-talking, Lesnar picked up Wee Man and threw him through a table. The story made national news and was hilariously discussed during a segment on The Pat McAfee Show. Now Wee Man has his own body-slamming story. 

If nothing else, the entire match is a terrific example of how much goodwill the Jackass crew has built over the years, both with WWE audiences and with fans in general. I love these dudes, and more than 75,000 people at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas showed how much they love them too, cheering for every single moment, none more so than Wee Man’s unexpected body slam. 

The Jackass franchise has been delivering stunts, pranks, and general nonsense to viewers for well over two decades. They’re not the kind of films to be honored at any major awards ceremonies, but if the Academy Awards would introduce the long-awaited Best Stunt category, there’s a strong chance the new Jackass Forever would have been in the running last weekend. Not only that, but the Jackass crew seems to know exactly the stunt that would have walked away with the big prize.

Johnny Knoxville took the most significant blow in Jackass Forever when a raging bull sent him flying through the air. While it was a sobering moment that landed the crew’s fearless leader in the hospital, they all seem to agree it’s the biggest stunt of the film. When asked which stunt would have a shot in this hypothetical Oscar category, longtime Jackass crew members Preston Lacy and Jason “Wee Man” Acuña said this:

Newcomers Rachel Wolfson and Sean “Poopies” McInerney seconded this notion, mentioning that Johnny Knoxville and the bull was the standout stunt. While Knoxville has been doing this job a long time and the franchise has seen some brutal injuries, specifically some gnarly ones taken by Knoxville himself, this one was different. He sustained a concussion, a broken wrist, some broken ribs, and even brain damage. After all of that, he still doesn’t regret it, because he got the footage. 

While the incident seemed to be consistently brought up in the context of this Oscars conversation, some of the cast favored certain stunts for various other reasons. As another OG Jackass crew member, Chris Pontius, explained:

If you’re unfamiliar with the cup test, you may be able to gather what the concept is simply by the name. Let’s just say it involves one man wearing a protective groin cup, while another jumps on it with a pogo stick. It was rather hard to watch.

While an Academy Awards category for stunts would be great, and any Jackass film would certainly stand a chance to be included, the man who takes the bull by the horns, Johnny Knoxville, would apparently want nothing to do with it. Wee Man went on to explain that the crew’s leader isn’t in the game for the awards, but for the footage:

Everyone who grew up on Jackass should check out the film, as it will hit you right in the nostalgia. It was a great final outing for Knoxville, and it looks like there’s still more to see. Although the injuries were intense, do not fret, as Knoxville has healed up just fine. Although, some folks are more concerned about the bull. Jackass Forever is now available to purchase on digital. It will also be available on Blu-ray and DVD April 19!

It’s been a chaotic build to WrestleMania 38. We’re now just days away from the biggest wrestling show of the year, and the majority of the card is locked into place like a figure-four from a prime Ric Flair . The big match is, of course, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns who will be going title v title in a unification match. I'm still skeptical of WWE's decision here to give the winner one unified belt. I'd rather they be defended separately on each show, but alas, no one answers my emails.

Putting that insult aside, there’s a lot of intrigue up and down the card in both the men’s and women’s divisions. Right now there are fourteen matches scheduled for WrestleMania 38, as well as a Stone Cold Steve Austin appearance, which may be a real match or may just be a guy opening a can of whoopass during a talk show segment. I’m going to go through my predictions for all of it, which I would like to point out is what I think is going to happen, not what I want to happen. If it were what I wanted, we'd have a more positive outcome for Happy Corbin, who I inexplicably love for reasons I can't really explain.

WrestleMania 38 Night 1 Predictions

Becky Lynch (Champion) vs Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship

Big Time Becks made a surprise return at SummerSlam last year and squashed Bianca in 26 seconds. I still have no idea why this seemed like a good idea, as Belair is a rising star, was over with fans and had so much momentum at the time. Whatever. Someone thought it was a good idea, and it certainly elevated Lynch. I’ve moved on and can’t argue about this more. Anyway, she’s held a major belt ever since, and while she’s had matches with Belair, this is surely the biggest stage.

I like Bianca here. I think a showcase win would help her character move on from looking like Adam Bomb at WrestleMania X, and I think it’s time to give Becky something else to do besides defend this title and get whipped with hair. I don’t think it’ll be a squash, but I expect to see a clean pinfall and a title change.

Predicted Winner: Bianca Belair via pinfall.

Rey Mysterio And Dominik Mysterio vs The Miz and Logan Paul

The obvious pick here is Mysterio & Mysterio. Once The Miz stole Rey’s mask, there was a sense of like… Rey can’t lose this now. He’s got to defend his honor, right? But I’m not so sure anymore. The Miz lost clean on Monday, and I just feel like this story is a lot more interesting if he comes out on top. Plus, there are persistent rumors that Logan Paul may join the WWE Creative Team if this goes well. I’m not sure most wrestling fans are with me here, but I actually think, at least on paper, he’s a terrific fit for WWE long-term. 

Crowd reaction was skeptical during his recent segment where he gushed about Cleveland in Cleveland (at least compared to The Miz who still has it, by the way), but his mic work is quite good for someone who hasn’t interacted with a live wrestling crowd that many times. He’s a terrific athlete. He’s also a very natural heel given some fans already have negative feeling about him due to his pop culture image. I don’t know. This might be the stupidest guess of this entire predictions article, but I’ve talked myself into The Miz and Logan Paul. Maybe it'll spark some kind of Mysterio v Mysterio feud or maybe a story about Dominik earning his mask, which Moonsaulted around a little on Twitter.

Drew McIntyre vs Happy Corbin (With Madcap Moss)

This has to be McIntyre, right? It feels like he’s about to be built again. He finished second in the Rumble. He’s been winning pretty convincingly for the most part on TV. It feels like they talk about his sword more than some of the mid-tier guys on the roster. Its name is Angela by the way, in case the repeated reminders haven't stuck yet. I also have no real data for this, but it just feels like many of his intros are getting longer. Plus, we’ve been getting teases of a fracture in the dynamic between Moss and Corbin. There’s a real possibility Madcap could turn on Happy at ‘Mania.

That being said, I need to take a few seconds to gush about Happy Corbin. Love this dude. I get excited every time he comes on my TV. Something just works, and I need him to stick around the midcard. Just give him 10 to 15 minutes each week to brag about himself, beat up on a jobber or act like a coward against bigger opponents. I’ll also take some travel montages or some vignettes of him being an out of place rube. I suspect he’ll roll into a feud with Madcap Moss after he takes an L here, which I feel fine enough about.

The Usos (Champions) vs Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs For The Smackdown Tag Team Championship

I like The Usos. I’ve enjoyed their extended reign, even if it involves some standing around behind Roman Reigns, but you can just feel WWE pushing Rick Boogs. He’s looked really strong lately and delivered some particularly aggressive Boogs Cruises. They’ve also been giving him a lot of pre-match time to interact with the crowd and do his call and response thing. Also, to lift people. He has lifted so many people. But the crowd keeps counting; so, I’ve got no problem with him doing it. We'd all lift people over our heads if we were capable and everyone around us chanted to 10 each time. Plus, Shinsuke is great. Pushing Shinsuke is a good idea basically every time. 

So, no offense to The Usos here, who I think should stay in the title picture, but the times they are a-changin. Boogs is over with most fans. His dynamic plays well with Shinsuke. I think we'll see some new champions. Also, from a storyline perspective, The Usos losing the belts is going to create interesting television with Roman, whether he wins or not. All of them down big together could be fun. Then again, him roasting them and stirring up resentment because he now has both belts and they have zero would also be fun.

The New Day vs Sheamus And Ridge Holland (With Butch)

This feels like it has to be a New Day victory. Given Big E’s injury and the less than stellar record the team has historically had at WrestleMania, I think the obvious right move is giving them the victory. Butch is going to interfere. If this were a random TV episode, I'd assume his henchman-like ways would be the difference, but at a huge show like this, I think his interference will backfire, allowing The New Day to come out on top. Maybe there will be a quick interview where they dedicate the victory to Big E and tell him to get well soon.

I’m also interested in what’s going to happen with Sheamus, Ridge and Butch after they lose this match. Are they going to continue as a threesome? Are they going to start their own little mini-feud? Will we get a Sheamus, Ridge and Butch triple threat match? That could be a premium live event undercard. But nah. I don't think so. I think Sheamus will keep bringing in talent and form a stable. He’s still really good in the ring, but his strong mic work means he could be a fit to manage, as well. I'd love to see him as the leader of a gang that gets mad and does the job himself every once in awhile.

Predicted Winners: The New Day via pinfall (Kofi on Ridge).

Seth Freakin Rollins vs A Mystery Opponent

Everybody thinks this is going to be Cody Rhodes. I think it’s going to be Cody Rhodes, and if it is Cody Rhodes, he’s going to win a really close and exciting match. WWE is going to want to immediately introduce him at the main event or near main event level, and to do that, he both needs to look very good and he needs to win. So, I suspect we’ll see a really exciting match with lots of fun spots. Rollins will do fun Seth Rollins things, but Rhodes will prevail in the end.

Of course there’s always the chance this isn’t Cody Rhodes, and if it’s not, then who the hell knows what is going to happen here. The internet has been buzzing about it being Shane McMahon as the ultimate swerve/ middle finger to fans. Just imagine the chorus of boos. That would be an all-time troll job, but I don’t think WWE is going to willingly take that heat or give McMahon a prime ‘Mania match, especially after his appearance at the Royal Rumble allegedly caused backstage heat. I could see it being a surprise return like Bray Wyatt or someone on that level, but I’ll stick with Rhodes.

Charlotte Flair (Champion) vs Ronda Rousey for the Smackdown Women's Championship

Rousey isn’t quite there on the microphone yet, but I think she’s improving and is definitely still over with fans. It’s hard to imagine she’d return to WWE, get this much screentime and not wind up with the belt. Plus, with the WWE women’s division deeper and better than it’s ever been (especially if/ when Bayley and Asuka return), it’s going to need shake-ups and changes. Putting the belt on Ronda would shuffle the deck, and it would allow Charlotte Flair to transition into a different storyline, hopefully one with an opponent that can more easily push back on the mic. 

I really hope they give this match time to breathe and really tell a story. I don’t want to see a squash. I want a good wrestling match that tells a story worthy of the extended build-up we’ve gotten and Ronda’s return. I think we’ll get it, and I think it’ll end in an ankle lock given how much that’s been directly discussed on the air. That should push Ronda's character into a more compelling direction post-Mania, and fingers crossed, it allows her to keep developing because she could be great.

Predicted Winner: Ronda Rousey via submission.

The KO Show With Stone Cold Steve Austin

Kevin Owens has been crushing it during this entire build-up to WrestleMania. His mic work has been stupendous (points to WM sign…), and his recent trolling of the crowd when he came out to Stone Cold’s music made the heel part of my soul happy. KO is one of the best wrestlers working today, and I can’t wait to see him interact with the Rattlesnake. He’s earned this moment. 

That being said, I have no idea what to expect out of this segment and/ or possible match. It's either going to be a few minutes of chit-chat, followed by a Stunner, middle fingers and cans of whoopass, all of which KO will oversell in the best way like a prime Mr. Perfect, or it'll turn into a real match. If that happens, fans will lose their minds, and one of the all-time greats will get a chance to give us one more all-time great match. I hope that happens, but anything Stone Cold wants to give us is a welcome surprise in my book. So, no predictions here.

Predicted Winner: I lied. I think it'll be a real match and Stone Cold will give us about 4 to 6 A- minutes, which will feel like an A+. 

WrestleMania 38 Night 2 Predictions

Queen Zelina & Carmella (Champions) vs Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan vs Sasha Banks & Naomi vs Natlya & Shayna Baszler For The Women’s Tag Team Championship

I don’t know when the last time I was fired up about the women’s tag team division was, but I’m ecstatic at the amount of talent that’s been injected in lately. More than half of these women could be competing for the top belts, and we’re already starting to see some real chemistry develop, especially between Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley, who are a delight and already have a banger hybrid entrance theme. How cool would it be if we had a really fun, high energy women’s tag match on most episodes of WWE programming? The talent is there, especially after Bayley and Asuka return. Just stick with it… and maybe give at least a few of these teams fun names.

It feels like this has to be either Rhea and Liv or Sasha and Naomi. No offense to the other teams here who are perfectly fine, but there's real upside for the entire division if it's the right twosome. I don't want the women's tag division to dissolve into nothing again! My money is on Sasha and Naomi, but that’s mostly because they were the initial surprise team that jumped into the division. Plus, Sasha Banks is Sasha Banks, and giving her a belt is almost always a good decision.

Predicted Winners: Sasha Banks and Naomi via submission.

Johnny Knoxville vs Sami Zayn

I was at the Royal Rumble earlier this year, and the pop Johnny Knoxville got from the crowd was very real and very loud, easily one of the biggest of the night. Throw in the fact that celebrities normally win WrestleMania matches, plus how tremendous Sami Zayn is at expressing shock and outrage, and this feels like a pretty definite Knoxville victory. Key qualifier here though: they need to keep Zayn semi-credible. That dude is a treasure. He should stay in the Intercontinental Championship picture moving forward. So, I suspect the win will involve outside interference from the Jackass guys or some other type of tomfoolery. 

The Anything Goes wrinkle certainly opens up a lot of possibilities. Given the celebrity involvement, I wouldn’t expect to see a terribly long match, but it should be goofy and fun. Plus we all know Knoxville has taken gnarlier bumps than anyone on the roster. That WTF is he going to do element adds a little more drama than we normally see from celeb matches too.

Predicted Winner: Johnny Knoxville via pinfall.

Pat McAfee vs Austin Theory

Boy this match really got dropped on us like a Vader Bomb, huh? It feels like it was put together to have another attraction that'll generate some steam. Pat McAfee is terrific on commentary and a damn good athlete. He's also very over right now. Austin Theory is a rising star, who is doing segments with Vince McMahon. He was put in the Elimination Chamber and picked to face Brock Lesnar at MSG. They're obviously higher than a Montez Ford frog splash on both. So, they thought let's feature 'em at 'Mania.

That's not the worst plan I've ever heard. I'm a little worried for Austin Theory long-term though. I know McAfee is a more agile than say Michael Cole, but it still feels weak for Theory to lose straight-up to an announcer with little in-ring experience. But is there really a scenario where they're gonna have a character like Theory beat Pat McAfee? The crowd would boo into the next match. They'd be throwing things on stage like when Hulk Hogan went heel. So, I think something untoward is going to happen here. I predict Shane McMahon interferences setting up some kind of mentor vs real son storyline.

RK-Bro (Champions) vs Alpha Academy vs The Street Profits For The Raw Tag Team Championship

I don’t really think there’s a wrong answer here in terms of where WWE wants to go. All three of these teams are both very talented and over with the crowd. I also love each on a personal level. The weekly RK-Bro and Alpha Academy challenges were all kind of goofy fun, and the long-term potential of The Street Profits is enormous. All three of these teams have the talent and look to be on major premium live event cards for years to come. I probably like Alpha Academy the best because I can’t get enough of Chad Gable, but I’m truly fine with any outcome.

My gut tells me the WWE writers are going to use the end of this match to break-up RK-Bro. I know Randy Orton has talked about how happy he is and how much fun he’s having, but someone at WWE, whether it’s Vince McMahon or Bruce Prichard, loves breaking up a good tag team. So, I think RK-Bro breaks up after the match or we at least see major cracks form, which they’ve sorta been teasing.

Predicted Winner: The Alpha Academy via pinfall (Otis on Riddle).

Edge vs AJ Styles

I think the more important wrestler in the equation here is Edge. What is WWE’s long-term plans with Edge (and that blue light)? Do they want him on the mid-card or are they hoping to elevate him back to main event status? If they want him to be a major player and compete for the soon-to-be Unified Title, then I think he needs to win. He needs to establish himself as a mega-heel and come off looking really crazy and powerful. If they’re content with him leaving at the mid-card level, then what’s probably more important is just that this is a great wrestling match that fans enjoy.

I personally think they’ve still got big plans for Edge. He may not have fully capitalized off his 2021 Royal Rumble win, but that doesn’t mean he can’t still make it back to the top of the card. He’s in good shape. His mic work lately has been unhinged in a good, in-character way. I think they'll push him again.

Predicted Winner: Edge via pinfall.

Bobby Lashley vs Omos

I think most people are expecting Bobby Lashley to put an end to Omos’ dominance. That makes the most sense on paper. I mean… what’s the alternative? You rushed Bobby Lashley, a former champion who technically beat Brock Lesnar, back to lose to an inexperienced wrestler that’s been fighting handicapped matches on Raw? Why would you do that? You could have gotten Omos to the next level by turning in a dominant ‘Mania performance against someone like Damian Priest (who by the way, should be fighting Finn Balor this weekend but whatever).

But let’s say that is happening. Let’s say WWE brought Lashley back to get viciously punished by Omos. I mean… how scary would Omos look? You would immediately think he’s in line for a shot at the Unified Title at an upcoming premium live event, right? I don’t buy it, but maybe…

Predicted Winner: Bobby Lashley via pinfall.

Brock Lesnar (Champion) vs Roman Reigns (Champion) For Both Belts

Until recently, I was convinced Roman Reigns was going to win. I’ve been so convinced that I’ve been really dismissive of Brock Lesnar’s chances every single time I’ve referenced the match. But Lesnar has been tremendous the past few weeks. His mic work last Monday on Raw was so freakin’ good. I mean no one likes Paul Heyman more than I do. That dude is one of my favorite managers ever (shoutout Bobby Heenan), but Lesnar has been so smooth on the mic lately, I’m honestly starting to wish he would have ditched Heyman sooner. Cowboy Brock is all kinds of over, and his interaction with the crowd lately has felt effortless. It’s like he’s suddenly figured it all out. I don’t know how anyone wants to stop that momentum right now.

Roman Reigns, however, is also great. He’s been the best thing going in all of wrestling for the past few years. Unifying the belts and beating a legend like Lesnar while doing it would propel him into another tier of all-time greats. I really want that for him. I thought for sure he was going to get it, but I don’t know anymore. How long is Lesnar sticking around for? What’s the plan after the titles are unified? All of this would help provide clarity. Absent that, I’m going to stick with Reigns, but my confidence here is very low.

Predicted Winner: Roman Reigns via pinfall. 

Other Random Predictions:

I think we're going to see Alexa Bliss do something. I mean, what the hell is going on here? She's one of the best wrestlers on the entire roster. She doesn't seem to be injured. She needs to be at WrestleMania doing something productive.

I think a former WWE star other than Cody Rhodes is going to return. I don't know who it'll be, but I think someone shows up and sets Twitter on fire.

I think Steve Austin looks damn good and falls right back into the Stone Cold character like nothing changed.

The guys that make up the Jackass team have pretty much proven that they’re totally fine with risking life and limb during the wild stunts they perform time and time again. They’ve suffered some major injuries, Johnny Knoxville even breaking his penis and Steve-O suffering from some pretty hardcore burns. Apparently, though, there are some things the two stuntmen like to steer clear of, and Knoxville has revealed just what kind of stunts they refuse to perform. 

There is no amount of money you could pay me to get me to do some of the borderline insane things that the stars of Jackass do - that’s a fact. While they would probably do them for next to no money, or at least back in the day when they were just getting started, there seem to be some lines that even they just won’t cross. During an interview with NME, Johnny Knoxville revealed the one thing he dislikes above all else, and it may surprise you:

The man has literally suffered brain damage from a stunt , yet it's the cold that he doesn’t want to mess with. While being chilly isn’t an awesome feeling, it’s a little wild that weather is the veteran star's line in the sand.

While for Johnny Knoxville it may just be an aversion to cold, it’s a lot more than that for his co-star, Steve-O. According to Knoxville, Steve-O has an “irrational fear” of one particular stunt and, given the death-defying feats he's attempted in the past, I'm a little surprised here as well. Here it is in Knoxville’s own words:

Bungee jumping is pretty safe compared to a lot of the stunts Steve-O has been a part of in the past, but some fears are just all in the mind. Honestly, hearing that the cast has their boundaries is a bit comforting. I feel like if they had no line they weren’t willing to cross, they would be a pretty terrifying group of people. 

If you haven’t seen the group in their most recent film, Jackass Forever is still playing in a number of theaters. As for the past films, you can stream them all with a Paramount+ subscription, though you won’t find a bungee jumping Steve-O or many cold-related stunts from Knoxville.

You would think the Jackass gang, or at the very least their bodies, would have been at their limit of dangerous stunts even before Jackass Forever, as they’ve racked up their fair share of gnarly injuries over the years. Over 10 years after the last installment of the Jackass franchise, Jackass Forever is one of the more recent 2022 movie releases to hit theaters. Now team leader Johnny Knoxville has addressed that big bull stunt that left him with brain damage, and opened up to whether or not he regrets taking part in this reckless stunt. 

Jackass Forever did some damage on the men of the franchise, and filming was interrupted by multiple hospital visits as a result of some of the wild and dangerous stunts, including one for a ruptured testicle. Ouch! In a stunt involving a bull for the newest Jackass film, Johnny Knoxville sustained a pretty significant head injury. He received a concussion, as well as a broken wrist and come broken ribs, that resulted in brain damage, months of recovery and antidepressants. 

After being asked about any regrets concerning the stunt and involvement in Jackass Forever in an interview with The Guardian, Johnny Knoxville had some pretty stead-fast words. Basically, he knew exactly what he was getting into and doesn’t feel as though he has room for complaints. In fact, Knoxville expressed gratitude, saying:

While Johnny Knoxville may not have known he would be injured so heavily, the Jackass franchise has seen numerous heavy injuries. From Steve-O sustaining some nasty and painful burns to Knoxville himself literally ripping his penis, the boys have taken some heavy and lasting hits to their bodies. 

Add the fact that the OG Jackass crew that took part in Jackass Forever are approaching middle age, to the sheer brutality that comes with the Jackass territory, it’s amazing that the film even happened. In fact, Johnny Knoxville has made it clear that Jackass Forever would be his last hurrah with taking on big stunts. Honestly, that’s probably for the best, as another concussion may really take Knoxville off his feet for good.

Jackass Forever’s big bull stunt resulted in Johnny Knoxville’s 16th concussion in his life, which is insane. While he may not regret taking part in all the injury-prone stunts over the years, it’s a wonder how he is still up walking around and making coherent sentences.

You may want to check out the other injury-laden franchise installments first, though, and they’re all available to stream at home on Paramount +. Have fun, and remember: don’t try this at home.

One of the biggest stories to come out of the Royal Rumble this year had nothing to do with the Royal Rumble at all. At least, not really. In fact it had to do with WWE giant Brock Lesnar throwing Wee Man through a table while out to dinner before the big event. A video of this went viral, but Steve-O got the actual scoop from Wee Man about what that was like.  

As it turns out, many of the major members of the Jackass Forever cast (and not just Johnny Knoxville, who did appear in the Royal Rumble) traveled to St. Louis to be a part of the WWE event festivities. They actually took the same plane as Ronda Rousey, which we now know thanks to some footage from Steve-O (though I'm glad the video didn't come out before, as it would have ruined the Rousey speculation). As part of that very same footage on his YouTube page, Steve-O also recounted that viral video featuring Wee Man getting thrown through a table by Brock Lesnar, which has rolled around the Internet at this point:

Steve- O, of course, narrated what happened when they were all hanging out on the actual night, noting. 

Of course, being the good friend that he is, the very next day, Steve-O connected with Wee Man while the Jackass team was traveling and asked him, “How much did it hurt when Brock Lesnar slammed you like that?” One would think the natural answer would be a lot, but Wee Man was way more blasé about this than I would have expected. He replied: 

Well, there you have it. I know the Jackass cast is used to getting up to wild shenanigans, but honestly, that throw looked intense. Even whilst drunk, I’m a little surprised Wee Man didn’t seem to be feeling it the next day, but perhaps the whole thing looked worse than it was. I actually attended the Royal Rumble. A few of the Jackass guys came out with Johnny Knoxville while he was walking to the ring, but Steve-O was nowhere to be seen. So what happened?

Well, we've already heard plenty of rumors that the Men’s Rumble was supposed to play out pretty differently (two other former stars reportedly also wanted to make a return but were told no). In terms of what Steve-O was supposed to originally do, he doesn’t get into specifics, here, but he does say that the team had been tested daily for COVID-19 through all of the stuff they had been filming and appearances they had been making during the pandemic. It sounds as if Steve-O wasn't expecting what happened with the Rumble to happen, but what happened was a positive test. 

While we saw some of the other members of the Jackass cast outside the ring, overall what we got was Knoxville came out, got a pop, did his thing, hung around in the ring for a while, and then got eliminated by Sami Zayn. Steve-O apparently was on his tour bus at this point and getting the hell out of dodge, or in this case, St. Louis, Missouri. 

A lot of things were pretty wild at the Royal Rumble, from Kofi Kingston surprise elimination/ botched spot to the sign catching fire and the poor experience with the lights. I have no idea if much would have changed if Steve-O had shown up with the Jackass Forever cast, but it is interesting to learn more about what was going on behind the scenes. 

Ordinarily when PETA gets upset about something in a movie or TV show, there’s a specific scene or individual animal-related appearance that’s bothersome. That’s not the case with Jackass Forever. The outspoken animal rights organization recently wrote a letter to prosecutors in Los Angeles and San Obispo Counties complaining about at least seven entirely separate sequences in what may be the gang's goodbye film. 

Jackass Forever incorporates many animals into various stunts in the movie, often resulting in grievous injury for someone in the Jackass crew, which they talked to us about. Representatives from PETA, however, claim the animals biting, stinging and goring the movie’s actors are the real victims. They’re calling for a criminal investigation. Here’s a portion of the letter PETA sent, per Deadline…

Let’s break down a few of these specific sketches they’re upset about. If you haven’t seen Jackass Forever yet, please be advised we’re going to get into some spoilers below. So, if you haven’t gotten to the theater yet, my advice would be to bail on this article and return afterwards.

In one scene PETA takes serious issue with, bees are made to swarm around Jackass star Steve-O’s penis. The resulting chaos causes many to sting him. In another scene, new star Rachel Wolfson gets her own version of Botox by having a scorpion repeatedly bite her in the face and lip area. These were apparently deemed especially inappropriate by PETA, though they also brought up others including the turtle biting Chris Pontius, the bull goring Johnny Knoxville and the snake biting Poopies. 

I’m not going to speak to the morality of the above. There are no doubt some people sincerely upset about the usage of animals in stunts like these, and there are other people who are unbothered. If you’re someone who doesn’t like to see real animals used in movies, you’re going to hate this one. 

If you’re not bothered by such things and are into the previous installments of Jackass, you’ll love this one. Jackass Forever is a wild ride of genital abuse, head injuries and high concept sketches that ride the This Is Spinal Tap line between stupid and clever. It's also, as always, a story of friendship and love between the crew, most of which have returned. Response from fans has been really strong, and it has gotten very strong reviews from critics, as well. We gave it four stars, though something tells me those at PETA would probably have a different score.

The Jackass movies are unique cinematic endeavors. Structurally speaking, their closest cousins are anthology films, but there isn’t any attempt at “narrative” to be found. They have the vérité of documentaries, but nothing that can be specifically defined as a “subject.” They are blunt force comedy molded with the freedom that comes with disregarding any bounds of “story.” Each entry in the series is an assemblage of relatively diffuse creative ideas executed in the name of entertainment at the purposeful physical and mental expense of the performers.

These unique qualities generally mean two things: The first is that you’re either on board with it or you’re not; the second is that the only real way to judge a Jackass movie is in comparison to the other Jackass movies.

Considering these points in regards to director Jeff Tremaine’s Jackass Forever, the first should really be obvious: if you’ve hated all of the previous Jackass movies, this latest sequel is not going to be the entry in the series that changes your mind. It is, in a sense, “more of the same,” and if that’s not you’re your cup of tea, there’s nothing wrong with that, but you need not buy a ticket.

As far as comparing it to Jackass: The Movie, Jackass Part Two, and Jackass 3D, the new film is arguably the most impressive yet. In addition to pulling off the challenge of introducing a small group of new performers who exhibit the same fantastic spirit and passion as the veterans, the sequel sees stars like Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Preston Lacy, “Danger” Ehren McGhehey, and Dave England still running at top speed. These demented troupers have been doing their thing for over 20 years now, and their spectacular commitment is not only perpetually hilarious, but honestly awe-inspiring.

Filmed during the pandemic, Jackass Forever doesn’t have some of the same scope of its predecessors (there are no trips to India or other such globetrotting adventures in this one) and there isn’t nearly as much stranger pranking as we normally see; but that ultimately serves to let the group be more internally focused than normal and double down on their bread and butter: penis humor and pain. Within the first three bits there is a kaiju parody that has Chris Pontius’ painted gentiles serving as a monster, and a trivia contest that has contenders correctly answer fourth grade-level questions lest they be hit in the crotch by a trigger-rigged mechanical arm.

Sometimes the setups are endurance trials – like “The Quiet Game,” which sees performers try to stay silent while licking a stun gun, kissing a venomous snake, and having a skateboard dropped on their ankles. Sometimes the ideas are pranks – like “Silence Of The Lambs,” which finds victims trapped in a completely dark room full of traps and surrounded by eager tormenters wearing night vision goggles. And sometimes it’s just about putting on a weird, disgusting, or amazing show – like “The Flight Of Icarus,” which has Johnny Knoxville launched from a canon and soaring above a lake with homemade, feathered wings. Jackass Forever is a constant cycle of this insanity, and there isn’t a dull minute in it.

Jackass Forever doesn’t pull punches with its veteran cast, and it’s legitimately impressive.

When Jackass first began its run as a television series in 2000, the members of its principal cast were all in their mid to late twenties. One would at least somewhat understand it if the returning performers didn’t go quite as hard in Jackass Forever now that they are all pushing 50 – leaving the most gnarly material to the up-and-comers… but these are people with their own special brand of artistic integrity.

You get the sense that this movie wouldn’t exist if everybody wasn’t committed to leaving everything on the big screen, and that’s a significant part of its magic. Johnny Knoxville probably doesn’t have the bone density that he once did, but that’s not stopping him from trying to pull off a gag in front of a charging bull, and Steve-O can still walk away from an exploding porta-potty laughing instead of screaming.

If one were to label a champion of Jackass Forever’s cast, however, it is “Danger” Ehren McGhehey, who puts on one hell of a show both as a volunteer and as a helpless victim. A remake of “The Cup Test” from the original series sees him experience punishment to his groin beyond anything I’ve ever seen on the big screen, and what unfolds during what is dubbed “The Lie Detector” is hysterics-inducing and best experienced as a surprise on the big screen (hopefully you haven’t been watching the trailers too closely). When he’s at the center of a bit, something incredible and terrible is happening.

Given how great it is to see original Jackass cast members back together in Jackass Forever, the film does take on a certain risk introducing fresh faces – gambling that audiences will like them just as much as the familiar ones. It is, however, a gamble that pays off. I can’t say I know anything about the vetting that went into finding the new performers, but it was clearly a successful process. Sean "Poopies" McInerney, Davon Lamar Wilson a.k.a. Jasper, Zach "Zackass" Holmes, Rachel Wolfson, and Eric Manaka all demonstrate the extreme fortitude and effervescence necessary to stand tall among stupendous and stupid legends, and make us laugh until it hurts as they get lip injections from a scorpion sting or try to fly over a cactus pit with a kite strapped to their back.

Jackass Forever is a surprising nostalgia hit that often works well as a requel.

Introducing a new generation of stars while also hitting audiences with nostalgia bombs like the redo of “The Cup Test,” Jackass Forever is a film that actually slots in nicely with the on-going “requel” trend in Hollywood, and it generates a particular charm that wasn’t accessible to the previous movies – especially for those who have their own fond memories with the franchise. Personally, the new sequel took me back to being 13 years old and falling off the couch laughing while watching Steve-O try to puke up a living goldfish. I imagine many fellow millennials will experience similar memory blasts while watching the eternal youths of Jackass return to their classic antics.

Anyone who was even remotely present in the early 2000s has probably heard of the Jackass Crew. Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and even Bam Margera (who may be considered a former Jackass crew member now) were everywhere and rose to the height of their fame by performing dangerous and, admittedly, stupid stunts in front of a camera. This resulted in some pretty awful injuries. Jackass Forever is almost here, and bringing with it a ruptured testicle. Cast member “Danger” Ehren McGhehey got a pretty roughed up testicle from a stunt, Knoxville confirms the stuntman had to leave the set in an ambulance.

Ahead of the theatrical release of Jackass Forever, Johnny Knoxville appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and recounted the day “Danger” Ehren McGhehey took an injury to his testicle, saying that the stunts that made it into the film are just a portion of the damaging forces McGhehey had to endure that day. The bit they were filming with McGhehey was the “cup test” skit from the very first Jackass, which was then performed by Knoxville himself, where the stunt man wore a cup and took varying degrees of force to his nuts.

Apparently there were a lot of takes and a lot of different cup tests to perform, but a pogo stick to the groin is what ended up with the star being taken away in an ambulance. Here it is in Johnny Knoxville’s own words:

Yeah, taking hits to the groin sounds super unpleasant. However, I don’t know what would hurt worse: the pain of a ruptured testicle or the crushing fact that no one checked up on me after I left in an ambulance. That’s pretty harsh.

However, the guys from the Jackass team are used to trips to the hospital, and Jackass Forever resulting in many hospital visits. Johnny Knoxville is also no stranger to having his man-bits destroyed. He walked away with a broken penis from a Jackass stunt, so it may be that this injury prone lifestyle is no biggie to the guys behind the stunt franchise.

However unpleasant the ordeal sounds, it doesn’t seem like the experience has caused any bad blood or regret from performing the stunts. In fact, no matter how bad the guys from Jackass get hurt, it seems like they genuinely always want more. Luckily, people love the masochistic franchise, and you can watch the resulting 4th film when Jackass Forever joins the new film releases in theaters this Friday, February 4th.

One of the best things about the making of a Jackass movie is that the performers and the crew get way more material than they need during the production. The reason this is so great is not only because it ensures that what plays on the big screen is top-notch stuff, but because it allows the creation of “.5” movies – which are additional feature-length projects that are released when the films hit home video.

We’ve three of these edits so far – Jackass 2.5, Jackass 3.5, and Bad Grandpa .5 – and now director Jeff Tremaine and Johnny Knoxville have confirmed that Jackass 4.5 is on the way following the theatrical run of the perfectly titled Jackass Forever.

I took part in the Jackass Forever virtual junket yesterday in advance of the movie’s release date next week, and it was during my interview with Jeff Tremaine and Johnny Knoxville that I asked if Jackass 4.5 was in the works – and not only did that they confirm it was on the way, but described it as “really strong.”

Following up, I asked what the editing process was like in the creation of Jackass Forever and how it was determined which material went into which cut, and Jeff Tremaine noted that there is actually some stuff in Jackass 4.5 that is so good that a part of him wishes it was in the theatrical version. Said the director,

The ".5" movies that we've seen exist separately from the big screen releases in that they are a blend of behind-the-scenes featurettes and deleted scenes that have been cut together as a feature-length project. There tends to be some great insight provided from on-set interviews with the filmmakers and performers, and there are also some excellent new stunts that just didn't fit into the theatrical counterpart. 

Simply put, it's more of the Jackass crew seriously damaging their bodies for our entertainment, and for fans that's always a great thing.

As of right now we don’t know when Jackass 4.5 will be released, but the safe bet is that we’ll see it around the home video release of Jackass Forever. An interesting possibility is that it could land in Paramount+'s library of movies as part of the film’s streaming debut – but that’s purely speculative.

The deal that is presently in place with Paramount Pictures releases is that the movies will be available to watch online no less than 45 days after a title's debut on the big screen, so it's not impossible/inconceivable that we could see the follow-up cut arrive on Paramount+ in mid-March.

Millennials can bond over a number of experiences, and the chaos that was early 2000s MTV is certainly one of them. Reality stunt/prank shows like Jackass and Viva La Bam were pretty much cultural norms, and their insanely dangerous antics were the center of a number of schoolyard conversations. Almost 20 years later, Jackass Forever star Johnny Knoxville reflects on the time he broke his penis while performing one of these stunts, and it really is a wonder why he keeps getting back on the metaphorical horse.

Johnny Knoxville thought back to his broken member during an interview with Variety, saying it really turned out to be no big deal. Honestly, I think a whole population of males would disagree there, but apparently the unfortunate injury could have been a lot worse. Here’s what the potential WWE Royal Rumble star says about his previous injury to his “gym dog,” exactly:

While it might indeed be a little too much information, it’s also nice to know that acting silly and doing crazy stunts didn’t stop the star from expanding his line. While he had a daughter before the incident, we went on to have a son and another little girl not too long after the incident. 

The stunt in question was one in which Johnny Knoxville channeled his inner Evel Knievel with a big dirt bike jump. Even though he had professional BMX rider Mat Hoffman to walk him through the process, Knoxville still crashed and burned on the stunt, his bike coming down on him after the failed jump. Unfortunately, the bike fell on his manhood and broke his urethra.

Now that he's all healed up there, he's probably pretty conscious about that area in particular while performing stunts. That doesn’t mean he hasn’t taken a tumble or two more recently, though, because he has landed himself in the hospital a number of times while filming the upcoming Jackass Forever. The injuries probably weren't nearly as traumatizing as breaking a penis, but the sacrifices to his health have still earned him the props of his co star Steve-O, as he called him the backbone of the franchise. 

While the upcoming fourth and final installment in the film series will feature some of the original gang, there will be some missing faces as well. Ryan Dunn sadly passed away back in 2011, and this will be the first film he will have missed. He definitely leaves a void that surely will be noticed by longtime fans. Bam Margera will also not be a part of the project (well, maybe a little bit), and the slight has not gone unnoticed by the franchise staple and Viva La Bam star. In fact, Margera has even sued Johnny Knoxville and company over the exclusion. 

Jackass Forever is set to release in theaters on Feb. 4. While it may be missing some key faces, and won’t have such a devastating injury such as a broken penis associated with it, the film has promised to remain true to it’s chaotic roots (I mean, there's a bull involved), and wild stuntman Johnny Knoxville will definitely be front and center for a lot of them.

Jackass 4 marks the first time in a decade the entire crew has shared the screen. Of course, the film hasn’t been without its tribulations amongst the group. Even before the cameras rolled, there was some strife going on amongst the cast as money became an issue. It led to a feud between Steve-O and Johnny Knoxville. After coming back together for the final installment, the podcaster clarified what led to their feud.

The entire beef between the Jackass vets as Steve-O was trying to increase his salary for the last installment. According to the stunt performer, he learned of the movie through the news like everyone else. Upon learning about the fourth film, the Jackass vet immediately began thinking about his contract.

After years of growing his brand and career, the Jackass Forever star felt it was time for him to get his due. He wanted more of a share in the franchise he helped build. So, Steve-O partnered with his entertainment lawyer to negotiate for more money. In the same interview with Variety, the podcaster admitted to airing out his grievance about the film and his co-star during the salary talks. He mentioned his reckless comments leading to a rift between him and Johnny Knoxville.

After attacking his Jackass co-star, the whole ordeal didn’t sit well with Steve-O. He admitted to being out of line with his comments regarding the contract negotiations. The Jackass vet reflected on what he learned from his dispute with Knoxville.

In the end, he took accountability for his actions. The Jackass Forever star revealed the call between the two longtime friends a “healing conversation.” After the rift was healed, Steve-O felt the contract negotiations were unavoidable as he wanted his contribution to be acknowledged. He claimed the leveled playing field helped to enhance the crew’s signature chemistry.

Thankfully, Steve-O and Johnny Knoxville were able to work out their issues, even though the same can’t be said about fellow Jackass vet Bam Margera. Steve-O, Knoxville, and the other castmates will entertain the masses with their outrageous stunts when Jackass Forever arrives in theaters on Feb. 4.
