It's been over a month since JoJo Siwa's experience on Celebrity Big Brother UK changed her life forever, and led to a relationship with former Love Island UK star Chris Hughes. The news was quite a shock to the world after the young singer came out as a lesbian in 2021, before she later adjusted to identify as queer. Former Dance Moms coach Abby Lee Miller was one of the first to comment back then, so it's only fitting she had something to say about the young singer's latest relationship.

Miller recently spoke to US Weekly and mentioned she recently caught up with her former student, who has defended her in the past. She also got to see Siwa interact with her new beau in person, and gave her take on how the couple is faring after they went public:

While the celebrity has faced some backlash from the LGBTQ+ community for her latest relationship, it doesn't seem to be impacting her too much. Abby Lee Miller said that she's head over heels in love with Chris Hughes. It's also good to hear that the feeling seems mutual for him, and this wasn't just some quick showmance like is sometimes the case on Big Brother shows.

Of course, there's some nuance to JoJo Siwa's latest romance that continues to draw scrutiny from the masses. Some pointed out the relationship started when she was still in an active relationship before starting the game, though Miller said she felt Siwa is largely unfazed by the criticism that she receives:

One thing about Abby Lee Miller is that she's never afraid to pat herself on the back for the level of success that JoJo Siwa has celebrated in the time since they were together on Dance Moms. In fairness, Miller is never one to shy away from giving advice or praise these days, as she was the same way when talking about Todd Chrisley's time in prison.

JoJo Siwa has to have thick skin thanks to the absolutely massive fanbase she's cultivated on social media. The star recently celebrated hitting 46 million followers on TikTok, which makes her 11 million followers on Instagram feel tiny in comparison.

All this to say the hate always seems louder than the love, and based on her massive following, I'm sure there are far more people who are totally fine with how JoJo Siwa is living her life right now, if not completely indifferent. It sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders to continue to weather the criticisms of the masses about her new relationship, and eventually, the world will move on to something else. In the meantime, it sounds like they're having fun at theme parks, which can make for a great distraction from real life.

JoJo Siwa doesn't have any upcoming television appearances planned, but maybe she'll pop up on Big Brother Season 27 as the host of some competition? Listen, I know it's a long shot given she was on the overseas spinoff, but I'm so conditioned to the show's motto of "Expect the unexpected," I have to keep all options on the table!

Jojo Siwa is no stranger to public relationships, as she often shares her public life online. After coming out as gay on TikTok in 2021, she quickly became a LGBTQ+ media icon and was supported by prominent figures in the queer community. Now, Siwa is receiving hate from the LGBTQ+ community for confirming her new relationship with a man during Pride Month. With that, she shared a response to the more recent backlash.

Many LGBTQ+ community members felt frustrated with the Dance Moms alum for revealing her relationship with British reality TV personality Chris Hughes. Siwa and Hughes seemingly coupled up following the latest season of Celebrity Big Brother UK on the 2025 TV schedule. However, Siwa was also reportedly in a relationship with queer internet creator Kath Ebbs during her entire time in the BB house.

Given that Jojo Siwa centered much of her brand around her sexuality, many fans questioned whether this new relationship was real, or part of a PR rebrand. During a quick chat with TMZ, the “Karma” singer responded directly to the hate she’s receiving from the LGBTQ+ community over her relationship with the Love Island UK alum:

During her “life changing” season of Celebrity Big Brother UK, the 22-year-old pop star reflected on her sexuality, saying she realized she was no longer gay, but instead identified as queer. Much of the backlash following her sentiments on live TV came from the lesbian community, as the “Guilty Pleasure” singer added “Fuck the L, I’m going to the Q” to the end of her declaration. Additionally, many displeased fan comments on TikTok chastised Siwa's supposed treatment of Kath Ebbs (a popular queer creator) and the end of Siwa’s relationship with them.

As of this writing, there are various comments and videos that question the former DWTS contestant’s queer sexuality. (Given the content of such posts, they will not be included in this article.)

On an episode of The Viall Files that dropped back in April, Siwa addressed those denouncing her queerness, reminding listeners that sexuality and gender identity are fluid. She explained in an exclusive interview with Daily Mail how she felt pressure from within the LGBTQ+ community to publicly label herself as a lesbian. She told Viall that now, having dated a spectrum of genders including someone nonbinary, she now feels more queer than when she initially came out at 17.

This June, the “Boomerang” singer is celebrating her queerness during Pride Month, while also being in a relationship with a straight man. Siwa also told TMZ Hughes is “her favorite person” and that she’s “very grateful and happy.” The two recently celebrated the former child star’s 22nd birthday with a week-long trip to Mexico. Ultimately, Siwa made her new relationship Instagram official in a birthday post:

While in Mexico, the pop star also performed at Tecate Emblema, a music festival held in Mexico City. In regard to upcoming performances, Jojo Siwa announced the cancellation of her upcoming U.S. tour dates, including her performance at Chicago Pride. Whether or not this decision has to do with the recent backlash from the LGBTQ+ community is unconfirmed, but the singer’s website says she will be back for shows in the U.S. soon.

Saturday Night Live’s milestone 50^th season came to an end on the 2025 TV schedule, closing out yet another entertaining season filled with great hosts, musical guests, and special surprises. It was also filled with plenty of celebrity impressions, which included the return of Chloe Fineman’s Jojo Siwa. Even though the impression was near perfect, there was actually one struggle that the comedian had with it, and I never would have considered this.

Fineman first portrayed the dancer and singer during a Weekend Update segment in Season 49, and her look was pretty spot on, as it included a full face of makeup and face paint. Between the outfit and mannerisms, the comedian certainly killed the impression. However, it wasn’t as easy as one would think, as she recalled the big struggle with impersonating Siwa while speaking with IndieWire. Just hearing about it has me exhausted:

Despite having “Live” in its name, it can be easy to forget sometimes that, aside from a few pre-recorded sketches, Saturday Night Live is actually live. And the struggle with the quick changes proves that it is indeed all done in real time.

Doing a quick change is one thing, but having to not only change outfits but also put on and/or take off a full face of intense makeup with only so much time is stressful. And I never really thought about just how little time the cast has between sketches, because you really just focus on what’s going on on-screen, rather than off. But despite the challenge, it sounds like Fineman wouldn’t trade it for the world:

It is impressive to know what goes on behind the scenes and how hard everyone works. While quick changes are something everyone does on SNL, there's something to be said about the extra challenge added to them when you also have to deal with intense makeup, too, like Fineman did. Luckily, the quick change didn’t put a damper on her impression, and she brought back Siwa towards the beginning of Season 50 last year.

Although it still isn’t confirmed who is or isn’t returning for Season 51, and there are a handful of people rumored to be leaving, it’s quite possible that Chloe Fineman will be coming back, and maybe she’ll even bring her Siwa impression with her. She has done numerous celebrity impressions, and she nails them every time. So, no matter who she's playing, I know she'll kill it.

I will definitely be looking at SNL differently now when I watch it with a Peacock subscription, but it sounds like even after 50 seasons, the series is still a well-oiled machine that keeps on chugging. And the series will return later this year for Season 51, and it will surely include more surprises and impressions.

JoJo Siwa is still raving about her experience playing Celebrity Big Brother UK after exiting the game in late April. However, the reality star and dancer confessed that her team wasn't on board with her joining the series. She's glad she did it, though, and she explained why it was a life-changing experience.

Siwa had about as storied a journey on Celebrity Big Brother as one can have, as news of her casting was quickly followed by a controversial showdown with actor Mickey Rourke. Rourke was formally warned by the show for challenging her sexuality. However, she's spoken highly of her time on the series since. That positive attitude wasn't initially held by her team, though, when she decided to do the reality competition, as she explained to People:

Siwa joined the season, and despite a rough start, quickly started an intense friendship with Love Island star Chris Hughes. There's been widespread speculation that the two are a couple, which took the world by surprise. Siwa came out as a lesbian in 2021, but confessed while playing the game that she might identify as queer. That's a pretty transformative moment for a person, and Siwa seemed to think that something like that was possible when she assured her mother she'd be OK:

Only JoJo Siwa can know how much Celebrity Big Brother impacted her. However, it does seem clear that doing the show had a tremendous impact on her. It's good to see her so happy after the experience and ready for whatever comes next in life.

It's safe to say that not everyone who plays Celebrity Big Brother has the same experience. In fact, Season 3 of the American version of the series, which is available to stream with a Paramount+ subscription, was so toxic that it resulted in one of the most uncomfortable finales I have ever watched.

Hearing JoJo Siwa praise the Big Brother franchise has me all the more excited to see Season 27 when it premieres on the 2025 TV schedule this summer. CBS has been seemingly dropping clues about the new season, which could be teasing popular internet trends for influencers or that they're seeking out a confrontational cast of Houseguests. I can only hope that the people who play have as positive an experience as JoJo Siwa, who I could totally see playing Season 4 of CBB in the United States, should producers reach out to her.

Big Brother Season 27 premieres on CBS on Thursday, July 10th at 8:00 p.m. ET. I can't wait for this season to get rolling and to learn more details about what the Houseguests are getting into this summer.

Celebrity Big Brother UK has concluded for 2025, and the biggest story isn't its winner Jack P. Shepherd. JoJo Siwa's involvement in the season has been of international interest to an American audience from the jump, and it's only escalated as the series has gone on. Beyond the controversy she was a part of that led to actor Mickey Rourke's removal from the game, many followed her "showmance" of sorts with Chris Hughes, which led to a lot of questions about the nature of their relationship.

Those questions continued as clips of Siwa and Hughes cuddling and being intimate made rounds on the internet, and she revealed on the show she may identify as "queer" and not solely a lesbian as she initially thought. After the show ended, news surfaced that Siwa broke up with her partner Kath Ebbs at the wrap party, and now the latest TikTok posted by the dancer shows she's playing Tennis with former Love Island star Chris Hughes:

The tennis play in the video is questionable at best, as is the true nature of how deep the relationship between JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes runs. There was a variety of comments on the video, with people jumping between referring to them as a couple or lovers:

The story has really blown up, primarily because it's so well-known the popstar identified as LGBTQ+ back in 2021. JoJo Siwa received no shortage of support from the internet, and even her former Dance Moms co-star Abby Miller, who is not known for being cheery, had some kind words to share. So has that changed after Celebrity Big Brother UK, after her breakup and budding friendship with Chris Hughes?

I'm sure we'll know more as time passes, but JoJo Siwa already mentioned in the house that she may actually identify as queer and not solely be attracted to one sex or the other. As for what that means for Chris Hughes specifically, she insisted when the duo went on This Morning that while they may consider each other "soulmates," it's also "platonic."

As far as her breakup with Kath Ebbs was concerned, JoJo Siwa revealed she did not intend to break up with her former partner at the wrap party for Celebrity Big Brother UK. Unfortunately, Ebbs was aware of all the clips of Siwa getting cozy with Hughes, and it led to a conversation that ultimately led to them ending their relationship.

Siwa's latest saga has me all excited for Big Brother Season 27 in the United States, which will kick off this summer. It'll be a standard season without a bunch of celebrities, as the American version of Celebrity Big Brother usually doesn't run until the Winter Olympics return. I do hope we'll see it return when that happens, but at this point, I think I'm just eager to see my favorite reality television series back on the air here.

Celebrity Big Brother UK has only just started on the 2025 TV schedule, and there's already some controversy about an incident involving two of its American Houseguests. Not long after CinemaBlend wrote about JoJo Siwa and Mickey Rourke appearing on the program, the latter received a formal warning for homophobic remarks made to the young pop star.

American Big Brother fans are no strangers to controversial moments in the CBS series, and it's the same case with other versions of the show. In this situation, it all began in the backyard when Mickey Rourke was learning about the rules of the game and issued a strange warning to JoJo Siwa if he wasn't evicted:

Siwa tried to laugh off the remark and refute it, and others tried to step in and assist in defusing the situation. Rourke continued to laugh after making the comments, but he eventually was diverted into another conversation.

It didn't take long before he was at it again. In a conversation with other Houseguests, he mentioned his intention to target JoJo Siwa when it comes time for eviction. He then capped it off by using a slur, under the guise he was asking for the British slang term for a cigarette:

After that, Celebrity Big Brother UK stepped in, asked Mickey Rourke to come to the diary room, and talked to him about his violation of the rules.

JoJo Siwa broke down into tears and was consoled by others, understanding she was frustrated and upset about what happened. The whole incident played out over five minutes, all of which was posted publicly by the show below:

Some time later, Mickey Rourke did find JoJo Siwa and apologized for his comments. Siwa accepted his apology but later used her Killer Nomination power to put him up for eviction. Siwa called the choice "pretty easy," and we'll have to see how the rest of the week plays out for the actor.

Big Brother in the United States instituted a zero-tolerance policy for hate speech, which it had to enact in Season 25. Luke Valentine was ejected from the game after using a racial slur, and as fans wait to watch Season 27's live feeds with a Paramount+ subscription, we'll see if that's an effective deterrent to preventing incidents like this from happening again.

As for Mickey Rourke, this wouldn't be the first time he's broken the rules in a game he participated in. The actor made headlines on The Masked Singer after voluntarily disqualifying himself by removing his mask onstage. It remains to be seen what the actor will say about the latest incident should he leave the game soon and what other comments he may make about it.

Celebrity Big Brother UK is airing overseas on ITV, and if you're in the U.S.A., you can only catch up via its social media accounts. As for the American series, it's set to return for Season 27 this summer on CBS.

The 2025 TV schedule has blessed us in the United States with some real quality shows, especially in reality television. That said, I couldn't help but be disappointed that CBS passed on doing a new version of Celebrity Big Brother this season, and now that I'm seeing JoJo Siwa and Mickey Rourke on the UK iteration, I'm having serious FOMO.

While the previous season of Celebrity Big Brother in the United States had some trouble kicking off its live feeds, the UK version wasted no time getting its celebs on camera in front of a captive audience. This led to a great moment when Mickey Rourke entered the house and was immediately forced into a conga line by JoJo Siwa:

It's a thing of beauty to witness, and it makes me upset that those in the United States have no legal means of watching the ITV program. I've watched Mickey Rourke unmask himself on The Masked Singer, and I've seen JoJo Siwa compete on Special Forces: World's Toughest Test, but I'm not going to see either compete for the Head of Household.

For those feeling as bummed as I am that we aren't currently watching our a batch of celebs on live feeds with a Paramount+ subscription, there's a reason for that. Series EP Alison Grodner stated in December that Celebrity Big Brother traditionally returns in the United States as a counter-program to the Winter Olympics, so it's possible CBS will bring it back in 2026.

The Big Brother spinoff could use a redemption season after a tense finale full of awkward moments where everyone was upset with one of the two finalists, Todrick Hall. While a regular season of the series might've seen him win handedly, the celebrity Houseguests were not sequestered and saw each and every time he spoke ill of them behind their backs. Tate ended up winning the season in a landslide, and there were a lot of hurt feelings after.

It's not like that in every season, and it looks like the vibes are off to a positive start with JoJo Siwa leading the charge in Celebrity Big Brother UK. The starlet is known as a shining beacon of positivity, so it's no surprise she's leading the charge this season and even getting Mickey Rourke in on the fun. We'll see if that positivity holds after being stuck in close proximity with a bunch of other people for days on end and with the cameras rolling at all times.

As mentioned, Celebrity Big Brother UK is airing on ITV overseas, but we can't watch it in the United States. The good news is that summer isn't too far away, which means Big Brother Season 27 is coming to CBS soon!

Throughout the 2024 TV schedule, the cast and crew of Saturday Night Live have been aiming to deliver laughs amid the show’s milestone 50th season. Chloe Fineman is one of the many stars who’s been putting in work, especially when it comes to her celebrity impressions. One of the comedian’s most notable impersonations is that of pop star JoJo Siwa, which she broke out for a sketch that aired during the show’s’ latest episode. Now, Siwa herself is suggesting a change Fineman should make, and I can see it.

Jojo Siwa previously commented on SNL’s impression of her when Chloe Fineman played her during a later episode amid Season 49. During that appearance, Fineman sported a black-sequined look similar to the “Karma” singer’s real attire. Siwa lauded the performance on social media, referring to it as “iconic.” When the songstress spoke to People about Fineman’s latest performance, she had more praise to share, though she had one critique related to physicality:

Chloe Fineman most recently portrayed JoJo Siwa during the show’s latest episode a few weeks ago, which saw Charli XCX host and perform. One pre-recorded sketch parodied the auditions for Wicked, the recently released film based on the Broadway play of the same name. As part of that segment, Fineman and others like Sarah Sherman, Bowen Yang, and Charli herself lampooned the likes of Bernie Sanders, Troye Sivan and Adele. Fineman also portrayed Martha Stewart, Sydney Sweeney and Leslie Mann, in addition to Siwa:

The Megalopolis actress has been on NBC’s long-running sketch comedy series for nearly six years now and, in that time, she’s been making a name for herself. Her comedic timing and celebrity impressions have turned some heads, and her skills only seem to be improving. Given that she’s now a veteran, she provided some advice for Season 50 newbies, telling them to “have fun” as they’re essentially “thrown into the fire.” That’s keen advice.

At this point, there’s no way to tell whether Chloe Fineman will reprise her role as JoJo Siwa before the landmark season ends. Should she don another sequined outfit, though, I’d love to see her take heed of the pop star’s advice. The results could be truly laugh-worthy.

We’re less than a week away from the much-anticipated release of Wicked. Despite some initial backlash, fans are stoked to see leads Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo do their thing, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fun to imagine a world in which producers of the musical adaptation walked down a different Yellow Brick Road. At least that’s the premise behind an SNL sketch this week which wound the clock back to the auditions and showed us numerous celebrities busting out their best inner-witches.

From Al Pacino to Sydney Sweeney to JoJo Siwa, the Saturday Night Live sketch casts a really wide net covering all sorts of ages, performance styles and levels of celebrity. The only thing they have in common is they all want to be in Wicked. Well, all of them except Janet Jackson, who isn’t looking to get cast, despite showing up for the auditions. If you’ve watched enough Saturday Night Live before, you no doubt recognize the basic structure of this sketch. It’s something the cast members and writers talk about now and again, as well. It’s a loose audition or highlight premise that allows everyone to get their more obscure or in-progress impressions on the air. Here's one for Jurassic Park.

Some of these celebs featured in the Wicked one like Sydney Sweeney, Al Pacino and Adele have enough star power that we could see them make appearances in a more traditional sketch in the future, but others are a little less likely, which is why I love to think about someone like Chloe Fineman arguing to get her take on Leslie Mann on the air. It probably feels like now or never.

Sometimes the key to a good impression is knowing when to get in and when to get out. Some of SNL’s more famous impressions appeared on the show dozens of times. Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump is probably the most famous recent example, as it was featured prominently on an almost weekly basis for years. That works when there’s a lot to say or analyze, but for many others, the knee-jerk appeal is more in the surprise of the particular celebrity randomly showing up, in seeing who is playing them and in getting a few lines of dialogue to see how accurate the voice is. In those cases, sketches like this are perfect because they give fans a bunch in random succession.

This sketch is also a good little reminder of how many cast members are contributing on a regular basis to the show right now. The current Season 50 cast might be a little short on household names, at least apart from Kenan Thompson and kinda sorta Bowen Yang, but there is so much depth and talent, all of whom are fighting for and earning airtime. Sometimes that’s ultimately better because it really allows the show to feature a wide blend of styles and senses of humor.

Saturday Night Live has long been known for lampooning notable stars within the entertainment industry, and that illustrious tradition continued this past weekend. The person at the center of the parody was former child star Jojo Siwa, who’s recently been looking to shed the bright persona she forged as a performer for Nickelodeon. She’s opted for darker (but still eclectic) attire and makeup, and SNL’s own Chloe Fineman played that up big time during the latest episode. And, sometime afterward, Siwa herself shared some thoughts on Fineman's performance.

Chloe Fineman played the pop star during this week’s edition of Weekend Update. Clad in a black-sequined costume and wearing extravagant makeup, Fineman sought to channel Jojo Siwa. This fictionalized version of the singer also came out to her new single, “Karma,” and danced to it several times throughout her interview with co-host Colin Jost. The performance that Fineman gives is about as over-the-top as you can get, and you can check it out for yourself:

Based on the buzz around social media, a number of viewers were quite amused with this take on the “Boomerang” singer. And, as it turns out, even the 20-year-old entertainer herself appreciated it. She took to her Instagram story and dropped a screenshot of her SNL counterpart. She also shared the following compliment for the comedian who played her:

It’s as they say, if you can’t laugh at yourself, then who can you laugh at? Not every celebrity can take a parody in stride, as there are occasional instances in which some have been taken aback and voiced their displeasure publicly. Kudos to Jojo Siwa for being such a good sport in this case, though. I suppose her reaction tracks with her persona, given that she’s historically opted to be more lighthearted and jokey.

Some credit should also be given to Chloe Fineman for putting in another fun performance. The star – who’s been on Saturday Night Live for nearly five years now – has become something of a standout. She’s specifically made her mark as an impersonator and impressionist. Several years ago, she notably spoofed Drew Barrymore and her talk show, with the real-life host later giving her props. And, just last fall, Fineman effortlessly played Britney Spears in a sketch that was initially thought to have been blasted by the singer’s manager.

Only a few episodes remain in SNL Season 49, which has welcomed hosts and musical guests hailing from different corners of Hollywood. I’d say there’s a good chance that Chloe Fineman might have a few more impressions to share before the long-running sketch comedy series signs off for the summer. We’ll just have to wait and see. And, should that happen, I’d be curious as to whether Jojo Siwa, who seems to be a fan, will be tuning in as well.

Her former dance teacher had some strong opinions about the rebrand, and the dancer had some thoughts of her own, after the “stuipid” decision was made to exclude Miller from the upcoming Dance Moms reunion. 

JoJo Siwa Talks Dance Moms Reunion Without Abby Lee Miller 

A preview for the upcoming Dance Moms reunion — which is set to air May 1 on Lifetime — appears to show JoJo Siwa commenting on members of the group who did not return (likely Mackenzie and Maddie Ziegler and Nia Sioux), saying it’s like they’re trying to erase the past. It turns out she’s got similarly passionate thoughts about Abby Lee Miller not being invited to the reunion. Siwa said in an interview with Access Hollywood: 

Abby Lee Miller’s exclusion supposedly stems from the anger that still exists between Miller and the Dance Moms stars, who include Chloé Lukasiak, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, Kendall Vertes and their mothers. Producers supposedly asked JoJo Siwa to call their former teacher during the reunion’s filming, which she refused to do. Siwa explained: 

Regardless of how much JoJo Siwa went through on Dance Moms, she maintains respect for Abby Lee Miller, and that was very much reciprocated when her former instructor got her first glimpse at Siwa’s rebranding.

As JoJo Siwa mentioned above, she has maintained a good relationship with Abby Lee Miller over the years, and her former dance teacher was sure to voice her support when Siwa came out as LGBTQ+ in 2021. The singer’s queerness is on display in a big way in the music video for “Karma,” and Miller couldn’t have been prouder as she reacted to it live on TikTok. As far as the rebrand goes, though, Miller wasn’t sure it was accurate to call it that, saying she saw the same talented dancer she’s always known. In her words:

Dance Moms has seen a resurgence in popularity lately, thanks to TikTok and YouTube, with its stars amassing followers by the millions. Despite going off the air in 2019, the Lifetime reality series that launched the careers of dancers like Maddie Ziegler and JoJo Siwa seems as popular as ever. So what better time to have a reunion? Several members of the ALDC competition team will come together (as well as their mothers, of course), but when they do, it will be without Abby Lee Miller. It turns out, the notorious dance teacher allegedly wasn’t even invited to Dance Moms: The Reunion, and an insider explained why.

It was 13 years ago when we were first introduced to the Abby Lee Dance Company’s young stars on Dance Moms, which can be streamed with either a Hulu subscription or Disney+ subscription. Abby Lee Miller had questionable teaching methods, and the moms were constantly at odds with her (and each other) over whose child was getting the best opportunities. There were tears, fights and even lawsuits over the Lifetime series’ eight seasons, and according to a source for People, some of the dancers weren’t willing to face their old teacher again, as the insider said: 

The source alleges that some of the women — JoJo Siwa, Chloé Lukasiak, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, Kendall Vertes and Kalani Hilliker are the returning members shown in the trailer — said they didn’t want to relive the trauma that Abby Lee Miller had caused them. Because the dancers were allegedly approached first and made their feelings known, Miller was apparently never even asked to join them. The source continued: 

Speaking of Maddie Ziegler — who was unquestionably the ALDC’s star dancer on the show — she was noticeably absent from the Dance Moms: The Reunion trailer, as were her sister Mackenzie Ziegler and OG team member Nia Sioux. JoJo Siwa and Kendall Vertes appeared to address their absence in the trailer, which you can see below: 

It sounds like the So You Think You Can Dance judge isn’t happy with some of her former teammates’ decision, seemingly accusing them of trying to erase their pasts when Dance Moms is “why you are who you are.” We’ll have to see the full context of that conversation to determine how much shade is actually being thrown. While JoJo Siwa had her own horrific experience on the show, Abby Lee Miller has said she’s the only one who still keeps in touch with her. The comment in the trailer suggests Siwa credits her teacher for the career she has today.

More than a year has passed since So You Think You Can Dance aired the Season 17 finale, and that season was hardly short on controversy after judge Matthew Morrison was fired and then replaced by Leah Remini. Season 18 hasn't even premiered yet, but there is plenty of controversy thanks to Nigel Lythgoe, who had been slated to return as a judge before he was out as well. Now, just weeks after the news about Lythgoe, Fox has announced that a familiar SYTYCD face is coming back for Season 18 in the 2024 TV schedule.

Nigel Lythgoe's SYTYCD Exit

Although Nigel Lythgoe was not brought back as a judge when So You Think You Can Dance made its long-awaited return to Fox in 2022, he was named for the panel of judges for Season 18 along with Allison Holker (who had been married to late judge Stephen "tWitch" Boss) and Dancing with the Stars' Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Just one month after the announcement about his return, however, Lythgoe stepped down from SYTYCD following lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault.

At the time, Lythgoe released a statement to Variety that said: 

In a separate statement to the outlet, Fox and SYTYCD production companies 19 Entertainment and Dick Clark Productions said that Season 18 will "proceed, although without Nigel Lythgoe, to ensure the show remains committed to the contestants, who have worked incredibly hard for the opportunity to compete on our stage." At the time, there was no confirmation of who would replace Lythgoe as the third judge. 

One of the lawsuits against Lythgoe was filed by Paula Abdul, who worked as a judge on SYTYCD as well as American Idol. He was a producer on Idol. Abdul alleged that he sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions, as well as bullying and verbal harassment. Lythgoe denied the accusations. A second lawsuit was filed by dancers from All American Girl. 

Now, a month after Nigel Lythgoe's break with SYTYCD, none other than JoJo Siwa is on her way back.

JoJo Siwa Returning To SYTYCD

When So You Think You Can Dance returns for Season 18 on March 4, it will feature JoJo Siwa on the judges panel alongside Allison Holker and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. This makes her the only returning judge from the previous season, although Season 17 was her first. The dancer and YouTube sensation wasn't an immediate hit with fans in 2022, but she clapped back to inform viewers that she's qualified as a judge with plenty of dance experience despite being considerably younger than tWitch, Matthew Morrison, and later Leah Remini. Cat Deeley returns as host for Season 18. 

The new season will have a new format, with contestants competing in intense new dance challenges that they would face in a career in dance. This includes appearing in a music video, performing at a football halftime show, and going up against a Broadway talent. Judges will deliver eliminations weekly until a Top 3 remains in the season finale, with only one talented dancer taking the top prize of $100,000. 

In addition to changes to the format for the actual dancing, there will be a different style of storytelling this time around. Fans will also get a closer look at the dynamics between the contestants in a documentary-style production. This means a closer look at the challenges tackled, bonds formed, and struggles between contestants. Season 18 will include the closest look at the personal journeys of the dancers than ever before. 

Between the format changes and an almost entirely new panel of judges, it should be interesting to see how longtime fans react to So You Think You Can Dance Season 18. The show will be back on Fox for the season on Monday, March 4 at 9 p.m. ET. You'll also have the option of streaming the series with a Hulu subscription.

It’s been quite a year so far for Savannah Chrisley, who has been keeping busy with her popular podcast Unlocked while also keeping the faith that legal appeals will help shorten the prison time that her parents Todd and Julie Chrisley are currently serving. Now, the reality TV star has a new small-screen project on the horizon that will put her alongside such famous faces as Tara Reid, JoJo Siwa, Tom Sandoval and more. 

Chrisley and the other aforementioned celebs will be joining quite a few other famed personalities from the worlds of entertainment and sports for a new season of physical and emotional struggles on Fox’s unscripted series Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, which will be returning to the network with brand new episodes in September as part of the pared-down fall schedule that is currently suffering due to the WGA writers strike and SAG-AFTRA actors strike. But no reason to be sad about what’s not here when there are so many big names set to face grueling challenges in Season 2.

Then we have an array of sports icons, who seem like they'll have the advantage in this kind of physically strenuous competition. There's former Dallas Cowboy great Dez Bryant, the 7-time NBA champion Robert Horry, Olympic gold medalist skier Bode Miller, and speed skater Erin Jackson, the first Black American woman to win an individual sport gold medal at the Winter olympics.

The final group consists of actors and celebs known for other career paths. There's Sharknado and American Pie franchise star Tara Reid, 90210 and Smallville vet Brian Austin Green, rapper Blac Chyna, and blogger/actress Kelly Rizzo, who was famously married to Bob Saget at the time of his death.

The first season of the show surprisingly lost a handful of its contestants in the season premiere alone, and it doesn't sound like the producers are going easy on the second batch of celebs. Here's what Chrisley and others will be facing, per the official synopsis:

Just over a year has passed since JoJo Siwa first mega-slammed Candace Cameron Bure by indicating in a TikTok video that the Full House vet was the rudest celebrity she’d ever met, which sparked some back-and-forth social media drama that seemingly dried up a few months later. But then Bure promoted her GAF future with those “traditional marriages” comments that sparked all kinds of controversy, which angered Siwa all over again. Now, the Dance Moms vet has opened up about where things currently stand, why she initially regretted calling Bure out, and what she truly thinks about the actress’ past comments. 

JoJo Siwa popped up on former Bachelor star Nick Viall’s podcast The Viall Files: Going Deeper Edition, while naturally sporting one of her own branded hoodies, and they covered all the conversational bases; from her relationships to her career to her family and beyond. And you could almost hear the popcorn being popped in the background when Candace Cameron Bure’s name came up. Siwa reflected on the initial TikTok hullabaloo, fully explaining the incident that sparked it all, and confirmed they did talk it out, with Bure apologizing for her outwardly rude behavior. The YouTube star then discussed starting to feel regrets about that whole situation up until the point when Bure gave her GAF interview. In her words:

Though Siwa felt some pangs of regret about calling Bure out, she took it as a cautionary tale for the future. But it wasn't long before the Christmas movie comments made the rounds (reportedly sparking a minor rift between Bure and Jodie Sweetin, with the latter supporting JoJo Siwa's pro-LGBTQIA stance), with Siwa voicing her blanketed disapproval of the "traditional" values while not speaking ill of Bure herself. No time for regrets when there are new things to get mad at, after all. 

The 20-year-old entertainer stuck to that same "attack the idea, not the person" approach as she continued to explain her specific issue with Bure's and the GAF execs' goals for their programming. 

Having proven herself to be a level-headed person, Siwa understands that not all entertainment can speak to and depict the entirety of the human spectrum and experience at all times. But it's all about intentions, and not deliberately omitting certain people before then obliviously vocalizing the polarizing reason for their omission. That Elf example is such a great way of making that point clear, too. 

At that point, JoJo Siwa explained that she started to come to terms with the idea that she and Candace Cameron Bure are not destined to ever be on the same page, and that's something she can live with. As she put it:

Bure's initial comments about GAF's family entertainment were then pulled up and read verbatim, which sparked another quick reaction from Siwa, who said:

If Dancing with the Stars ever puts together an all-star-star season of returning contestants, I'm guessing the producers are going to receive some mighty strong denials if they'd attempt to bring both JoJo Siwa and Candace Cameron Bure back for it. Now whatever happened to that Celebrity Deathmatch reboot that was supposed to be happening a few years ago?

Disney Parks are special places for a lot of people. People get engaged in front of the castle, they get married at one of the hotels, or if they have some serious cash, inside the park itself. They are places where life events can happen and that’s even the case with stars like JoJo Siwa, who says Walt Disney World was the place she realized she was gay.

JoJo Siwa recently visited Walt Disney World to go on the new Tron: Lightcycle Run roller coaster and while there she talked to People about the memories that she has made every time she has visited Walt Disney World. There have been some pretty major life events attached to the parks. She explained…

JoJo Siwa is in good company with a lot of people who have also had a lot of life events connected to Disney World or other Disney Parks. For many, this is done very intentionally. Proposals, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations are frequently done there. Disney World is a place where people want to celebrate milestones. And Disney World loves celebrations just as much. But sometimes you’ll just find yourself at a Disney Park when something major happens.

And sometimes the trip itself is just that memory. Many people plan once-in-a-lifetime trips to places like Walt Disney World, and the idea is to make those memories that last a lifetime. Hopefully, most people are successful and are able to look back at their time in Disney Parks fondly.

It was in February 2021 that Jojo Siwa came out to her fans and revealed she was gay. She also introduced her girlfriend at the time. Walt Disney World always tries to have something new in the parks to try and entice people to visit, or to visit again. And very soon the resort is going to see one of its biggest openings in a long time when Tron: Lightcycle Run finally opens up after so many years. A few people, like our own Mike Reyes, have ridden the new attraction already, but so has noted Disney fan JoJo Siwa. And she’s the one who got to experience the ride next to the guy who might have the best job in the world, Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle.

Walt Disney World has been running its #AllTheDisneyThrills event this week for media and select VIPs. Stars from the original Tron movie were on hand for the event, as were a collection of other celebrities, including JoJo Siwa. She posted some images to Instagram and appears to have had fun on the ride, but she also appreciates her ride partner.

Jeff Vahle became President of Walt Disney World in 2020 when previous President Josh D’Amaro was named the Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products division, following the elevation of Bob Chapek to the CEO position. While a few of Chapek’s choices to lead other parts of the company left shortly after he did, the Parks have remained largely intact.

For those people who are serious Disney Parks fans, the names of the people who work behind the scenes are well known. While they’re not all well-loved, they are recognized. So when you see somebody like Jeff Vahle or Josh D’Amaro walking through Disney World you’ll often see them taking pictures with guests just like any costumed character.  

Tron: Lightcycle Run puts riders on carriages that resemble the classic lightcycles from the Tron films. Those are single-rider vehicles, but in order to get more people on the ride, the roller coaster puts two cycles next to each other, and then builds a train out of them. So everybody will have a riding partner, either another member of your own party or another random guest.

Tron: Lightcycle Run has been running in previews for the last few weeks ahead of its grand opening in April. The ride has been available to Walt Disney World Cast Members as well as Annual Pass holders and this week was opened up to the media.

These two certainly looked like they had an absolute blast on the attraction. The vast majority of the response so far regarding Tron: Lightcycle Run, despite some potential issues with accessibility, is that the ride is an incredible new addition to Disney World generally and Magic Kingdom specifically. 

While it wasn’t exactly a slasher flick, director David Fincher’s Se7en is still considered a thriller masterpiece that some would consider one of the best horror movies of all time. If you’re one of the people that loves that story, but wished it had a killer that stalked their prey all Jason Voorhees like, you’re in luck. A new project called All My Friends Are Dead sounds like it’s doing exactly that, and with entertainment superstar/Dance Moms alum JoJo Siwa joining up as one of the potential victims. 

Announced through reporting from Deadline, All My Friends Are Dead comes from a script by Josh Sims and Jessica Sarah Flaum, and is set to be directed by Feast and Saw 3D co-writer Marcas Dunstan. It’s presumed that there will be seven young folks on the slab when all is said and done, as this group of young music festival attendees will all be killed in connection to one of the seven deadly sins. 

Whether or not JoJo Siwa is the final girl of All My Friends Are Dead is unclear at this moment. Casting is still in process, and the only other actor on board is Little Fires Everywhere star Jade Pettyjohn. For all we know, her casting is meant to be the first kill that kicks things off, much like Drew Barrymore in the original Scream.

Although considering Siwa has survived elimination through both her history making season of Dancing with the Stars and growing up in the cutthroat world of Dance Moms, there’s potential for her to be the final girl after all. Or, even more exciting is the possibility that she’s secretly the killer. Though that last scenario would take some work, as Jojo Siwa is so well known that it’d have to be part of a killer twist to All My Friends Are Dead’s mysterious story. 

Going from a judge on So You Think You Can Dance to a slashing judge of her peers would be one hell of a career move for the typically cheery and upbeat image of Siwa. No matter what this opportunity presents the young actor, it’s clearly something new on a resume full of variety. With that in mind, a twist involving JoJo Siwa being the secret killer among this batch of fresh meat is part of what gives this upcoming movie such potential, and it's going to take a lot to convince us otherwise.

With All My Friends Are Dead currently casting its leads, and eying a production start date at some point next month, we’re not quite sure when to expect this movie. Which means it’s a good time to check in with the 2023 new movie releases, and see what’s already set to scare audiences at a theater near you in the year to come. 

Even though Miley Cyrus left the wrecking ball in her past, and welcomed her new era on a trapeze, she’s still leaving her fans thirsting for her with her self-love anthems and sexy music videos, especially when it comes to her latest single “Flowers.” JoJo Siwa is among the many who can’t stop thinking about and swooning over Cyrus, and she illustrated her love through a viral TikTok that included her overfilling a cereal bowl, and the commenters have some thoughts about it, especially considering the price of food at the moment. 

In the video Siwa is seen overpouring her milk in her cereal, putting way too much shaving cream in her hand while showering, failing to tie her shoes and being generally distracted, while clips of Miley Cyrus working out in a bra and underwear in the “Flowers” video play in the background. It’s obvious that Siwa poured what looks like the whole box of cereal and a gallon of milk into the bowl, and fans had some thoughts about the overuse of food by the So You Think You Can Dance judge. Especially considering how much it costs to go grocery shopping these days.

Well, whether people liked the overuse of cereal or not, it did clearly prove Siwa’s point that she was making. That point being, she has a massive crush on the singer who was recently dubbed the Queen of New Year’s Eve by her fans.  Speaking of New Year’s Eve, the “Flowers” video isn’t the first time Siwa has posted about her love for Cyrus. She also posted a viral TikTok reacting to Cyrus performing with Fletcher right as the 2023 TV schedule began. Let's just say their chemistry on stage was palpable, and Siwa's literal and figurative thirsty reaction was understandable.

Along with her video thirsting over Cyrus, Siwa has gone viral recently for showing clips from her Dance Moms experience, as well as her “rudest celebrity” brouhaha with Candace Cameron Bure. Her dance videos are also super popular, along with her reactions to other TikToks. Overall, I think it’s safe to say lots of people watch the history-making Dancing with the Stars contestant, and have a lot of thoughts about her, both positive and constructive (especially when it comes to food use in this economy). 

JoJo Siwa has come a long way since her days at the Abby Lee Dance Company. The dancer parlayed her experiences on Dance Moms into a highly successful social media career, made a historic run on Dancing with the Stars, and was a judge on the most recent season of So You Think You Can Dance. However, her start in the business was no walk in the park. Siwa recently posted some old Dance Moms clips to remind us all of what she went through under the direction of controversial dance teacher Abby Lee Miller, sparking outrage amongst fans, who hit the comments section.

The “Boomerang” singer was 9 years old when she competed on the second season of the Dance Moms spinoff Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, before joining the Lifetime flagship series. Ten years later, the dancer is looking at just how far she’s come, reflecting on some particularly tough moments from early in her career in a recent TikTok post: 

Wow, and she says Candace Cameron Bure is the rudest celebrity she’s met? Maybe she wasn’t thinking of Abby Lee Miller as a celebrity. The clips start with a “homework assignment” in which the dance instructor made JoJo Siwa’s peers read the reasons they thought Siwa didn’t belong at the studio. The young dancer silently cried as the other girls called her “too loud,” said she had “some timing issues,” and took “opportunities from people who have been here longer.” 

Other scenes included in the post showed Miller calling her a “greedy little monster,” and one of the moms saying she was “one of the worst dancers on the team.” Fans seemed to be horrified by just the small taste of what JoJo Siwa experienced on Dance Moms, and they expressed their disbelief in the comments section:

The commenters seemed particularly upset with the homework assignment that pit the ALDC team members against JoJo Siwa, with many wondering not just how Abby Lee Miller could do such a thing, but how Jessalynn Siwa and the other mothers could stand by as it was happening. More reactions included:

What may be the most surprising thing to come out of this is that JoJo Siwa is apparently the only dancer from the show who still talks to Abby Lee Miller, as the dance teacher revealed when calling out her former students for not contacting her when she was in prison. Miller also spoke out in support of Siwa when she came out in 2021. 

Maddie Ziegler, another Dance Moms alum and former So You Think You Can Dance judge, also spoke about her experience on the Lifetime reality show, telling Cosmopolitan in 2021 that she was “set up to fail” and was under constant stress as a child. She confirmed she has not spoken to Abby Lee Miller, nor has she watched old episodes of the show.

Candace Cameron Bure’s comments on “traditional marriage” sparked quite the conversation, with many speaking out against what she said. Now, Bure and her Full House co-star Jodie Sweetin are apparently in a “pretty serious” disagreement over the comment. 

According to a source who spoke to ET, Sweetin is “progressive in her beliefs and Candace is very religious in hers.” The source also spoke about how In Sweetin’s opinion Bure’s comments “held a lot of weight,” and the two actresses “have different views and opinions on various important topics.” The source elaborated on how the Stephanie Tanner actress allegedly feels about her on-screen sister, saying: 

We’ve known for a while that Sweetin might not agree with what Bure said because she showed support for Jojo Siwa’s comments calling out the GAF star. Siwa has been clear that she disagrees with Bure about GAF keeping “traditional marriage” at the center of its content. Both Siwa's posts clearly called out the D.J. Tanner actress, and in the first post she said: 

Sweetin then commented on Siwa's Instagram post, writing: 

Along with supporting Siwa, Sweetin also supported Holly Robinson Peete’s post in response to Bure’s comment by reposting the Hallmark actress’s Instagram story. 

Following Sweetin’s support for Siwa, Bure seemingly unfollowed her on social media. So it appears that the Full House sisters may not be on the best terms following this whole situation. 

While things are not totally clear between Sweetin and Bure, there are many other actors who have directly spoken out against Bure’s comments. Along with Siwa, ex-Hallmark star Hilarie Burton called out Bure, calling her a “bigot,” and GLAAD responded to the Fuller House actress. GAF’s Danica McKellar also wanted to “set the record straight” saying she likes to “celebrate all forms of healthy love.” 

Bure has explained her controversial quote following so many responding to it.  She said she is “a devoted Christian” and believes “that every human being bears the image of God.” She added that because of that she is “called to love all people.” 

This whole conversation is happening as the 2022 Christmas movie schedule really gets going. Both Bure and Sweetin have movies coming out this holiday season, with Bure’s first GAF movie airing last week, and Sweetin’s Hallmark movie A Cozy Christmas Inn is on our list of Hallmark holiday movies to prioritize. 

There’s nothing abnormal about the occasional spat between sisters, and I guess that’s true for TV families, too. It appears Candace Cameron Bure may have taken issue with Jodie Sweetin — who played her younger sister on Full House and Fuller House — showing support for JoJo Siwa and others who clapped back at the Great American Family actress for her comments about “traditional marriage.” While the two grew up together in front of viewers, and have remained close over the years, it appears that following all of the recent social media brouhaha, Bure has unfollowed her little sis.

Candace Cameron Bure and Jodie Sweetin played Tanner sisters DJ and Stephanie (along with the Olsen twins’ Michelle) on the set of Full House, which ran from 1987 to 1995, and even went on to co-star in the Netflix spinoff Fuller House in 2016. The entire Full House family appears to have stayed in touch, as evidenced by how they rallied together this year following the sudden death of Bob Saget. But it seems the TV sisters have hit a rough patch, as US Weekly reports that Bure has unfollowed Sweetin on Instagram.

The whole issue began with a Wall Street Journal article, in which Candace Cameron Bure, who left Hallmark to join Great American Family, said she thought her new network would “keep traditional marriage at the core,” in regards to a question about LGBTQ+ couples being featured in the movies. The comment sparked backlash from many, including Dance Moms alum JoJo Siwa, who came out early in 2021 and had started a feud with the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries actress in July, when she called her the “rudest” celebrity she’d met.

Jodie Sweetin appeared to take JoJo Siwa’s side in the reignited squabble, and after the So You Think You Can Dance judge called Candace Cameron Bure’s comment “rude and hurtful,” Sweetin told Siwa in the comments: 

The Stephanie Tanner actress also showed support for fellow Hallmark actress Holly Robinson Peete, who posted an Instagram Story that appeared to call Candace Cameron Bure a “bigoted judgmental Holier than thou person,” though she didn’t mention Bure by name. Jodie Sweetin reposted another of Peete’s Instagram posts to her own Stories (per US Weekly), in which the Christmas in Evergreen actress discussed the use of tradition to justify discriminatory practices. Peete said, in part: 

While Jodie Sweetin’s support of her TV sister’s critics may have prompted Candace Cameron Bure to unfollow her, it appears Sweetin still follows Bure. Whether or not that'll change going forward remains to be seen.

As cable TV starts to go hard on its merry overload of holiday movies and similar fare, things aren’t quite as joyful off the screen, at least in some corners of Hollywood. So it goes for Candace Cameron Bure, who sparked an ongoing backlash with a recent interview promoting her new Great American Family content, as she explained her reasoning for switching away from Hallmark by saying GAF would be keeping “traditional marriage” central to its Christmassy programming. Many celebs have spoken out against her GLAAD-derided comments, with Hilarie Burton helping lead that charge, and the Fuller House vet’s mini-rival JoJo Siwa chimed in with some expectedly strong and explicit thoughts on the matter. 

Speaking with People about becoming more accustomed to using her massive popularity to speak her mind and spread her message to fans and beyond, copping to potentially being a “little disruptive” where others’ lives are concerned, which was the case earlier this year when she pointed to Candace Cameron Bure being the rudest celeb she’d ever dealt with. But her initial comments about the GAF chief creative officer, as well as the latest ones, are entirely about the actress and network purposefully avoiding stories centering on the LGBTQ+ community. Asked if she’d been in contact with Bure, Siwa said:

Even if the dancer and YouTube megastar’s values don’t line up with Bure’s, Siwa is fine enough with that, since not everyone is going to agree about everything, and people deserve to have their own opinions. But the sticking point here would seem to be that GAF on the whole has little interest in shining a spotlight on families that don’t fit certain stereotypes. 

While Candace Cameron Bure tried to deflect negativity by blaming the media for inciting the backlash, and stating that she loves everyone as part of her faith-centered ways, she didn’t so directly address the actual issue that’s made others upset. And Siwa thinks that having a conversation with GLAAD’s CEO and president Sarah Kate Ellis would be a most constructive thing for the actress to do at this point, saying:

It’s obviously impossible to know whether or not Siwa and Bure will ever have a conversation again in any capacity, as well as whether Bure will ever take the offer to talk to GLAAD’s head honcho. But here’s hoping whatever does happen, it leads to more agreements and positivity, since that’s the holiday ideal, if not the norm.

Candace Cameron Bure, who recently left Hallmark for GAC Family, has made waves this week following her about being excited to work with her new network because it puts Christianity at the center of its content, and shows “traditional marriage.” Many have spoken out about what Bure said, and now GLAAD, which is a large LGBTQ+ media advocacy organization, has issued a response to the viral quote.

GLAAD issued a statement inviting the actress to a conversation following a story about her in the Wall Street Journal being published, where she said: 

In response to the comments, the statement from the LGBTQ+ organization embedded President and CEO of GLAAD, Sarah Kate Ellis' Twitter thread, which says:

Ellis continued her statement about Bure’s comment. The president and CEO of GLAAD wrote that if GAF is going to exclude LGBTQ+ stories, people as well as cable and streaming networks should take note. 

The statement from GLAAD went on to talk about how there is a record-high number of LGBTQ+ characters on television right now that spans many genres, including kids and family shows. They also wrote that the organization is “proud to work with several faith organizations that embrace and welcome LGBTQ people,” leaving a list of resources and organizations they support at the bottom of the statement. 

GLAAD also referenced what JoJo Siwa said about Bure’s viral comment. The young star is a former GLAAD 20 Under 20 honoree, and she is part of and an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. Siwa explained that what the former Full House star said is “rude and hurtful to a whole community of people.” 

Along with Siwa, former Hallmark star Hilarie Burton also spoke out against Bure’s comments. Current Hallmark stars Holly Robinson Peete and Jonathan Bennett also spoke out about Bure’s comments. Peete said the comments from the former Hallmark star are “disappointing but not surprising.” She also wrote that Hallmark is for everyone and "understands the importance of diversity and inclusion." Bennett, who will star in The Holiday Sitter, which is an LGBTQ+ movie on the 2022 Christmas movie schedule, explained that “Christmas is for everyone and Hallmark channels are for everyone.”  

Following the backlash, Bure released a statement regarding her comments. She said she loves everyone “of any race, creed, sexuality, or political party.” The actress also explained that she had said “all ethnicities and identities have and will continue to contribute to the network,” in her interview with WSJ, however that was left out of the story. The former Fuller House star also said that she has been wanting to move to a network with “more faith-based programming.”  

Both Bure and GLAAD’s statements were released on Wednesday, November 16, and this discussion surrounding the actress’s comments will likely continue as both Hallmark and GAC Family roll out their movies this holiday season.

Bure’s decision to leave Hallmark came after other stars announced their departure, including Danica McKellar, and now she’s adding more context as to why she decided to switch networks. 

Why Candance Cameron Bure Left Hallmark For GAC Family 

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal (via TV Line) Bure explained why she left Hallmark for GAC Family, saying she knew those who worked at her new network “were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.” She also noted that with the latest change in leadership at Hallmark she felt like the network was “completely different.” The comment that caused all the backlash, was about the network showing “traditional marriage,” Bure said: 

This comes after Hallmark started making movies with same-sex couples starring in them. Bure said there will not be LGBTQ+ couples represented on her new network. These comments caused big backlash from many, however, JoJo Siwa, who has a history with the Full House actress, called her out on Instagram. 

JoJo Siwa, Jodie Sweetin And More Fire Back At Candace Cameron Bure’s Comments

Siwa and Bure have a history. Earlier this year the YouTube star said the former Hallmark actress was the “rudest celebrity” she had met. Bure then explained that the two connected after the comment and cleared the air. However, this time, she didn’t hold back when calling out the actress. Following the publication of the WSJ article where Brue talked about “traditional marriage,” Siwa, who is an advocate for and part of the LGBTQ+ community, went to Instagram to write:

The young star also called Bure’s comments “embarrassing” for her in a video on her Instagram stories. She also said she found it “hilarious” that somebody would support Bure's view. 

Siwa’s comments came after ex-Hallmark star Hilarie Burton called out Bure, writing “I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy.” The former One Tree Hill star went on to criticize the GAC actress, calling her a “bigot” and saying she could “ride that prejudice wave” to the “bank.” 

Along with Burton and Siwa, Bure’s former Full House co-star Jodie Sweetin showed she didn’t approve of her co-star’s comments when she posted a sympathetic comment on Siwa’s post, saying:  

While there are a lot of people who have spoken out against Bure, her daughter posted a long post in support of her mother. 

Candace Cameron Bure’s Daughter Defends Her Mom’s Comments 

In response to the negative attention her mother received, Bure’s daughter, Natasha Bure posted in support of her mother, which you can see here:

She wrote that she has been “blessed” with her parents. She also said she loves her mom because she puts “Christ before all.” This then led to a paragraph about how the negative media attention around her mom. She wrote:  

Natasha then went on to talk about things getting out of hand with “strategically worded” headlines, and the toxicity of cancel culture. She ended the post saying this was “sad to watch,” and she called her mom the “real deal.” 

This is not the first time Natasha has spoken out in support of her mother, and against Siwa. When the “rudest celebrity” debacle happened, Bure’s daughter posted about there being “bigger issues in the world” and that Siwa's experience was not a “rough" one. 

Comments continue to appear about what Bure said, and the discourse surrounding the debate will likely continue as the holidays start, and as Hallmark and GAF roll into their biggest season. 

JoJo Siwa caused quite the kerfuffle this summer, when she revealed via TikTok challenge that Great American Family actress Candace Cameron Bure was the “rudest celebrity” she’s ever met. The two went back and forth for days, with friends and family coming to their defenses while simultaneously throwing shade at the other party. It even started a bit of a trend, with other celebrities starting to recall unfortunate interactions with fellow famous faces. Although the fireworks have since fizzled out, the former Dance Moms star gave an update on where she stands today with the Fuller House actress.

The So You Think You Can Dance judge said that she and Candace Cameron Bure have not been in touch since they had beef back in July, after JoJo Siwa called the actress out for snubbing her when she asked for a photo at the Fuller House premiere. Siwa told E! News: 

It kind of makes sense that the two wouldn’t keep in touch. The two celebs apparently didn’t cross paths in the years between the Netflix premiere and JoJo Siwa’s participation in the TikTok trend, leading that grudge to fester for so long in Siwa’s mind.

While Candace Cameron Bure spilled the tea on the conversation she and JoJo Siwa had in the aftermath of the TikTok slam, the back-and-forth between the duo and their families might indicate that neither got the closure they thought they deserved in the situation. A number of the Full House alum’s friends and co-workers rushed to defend the actress against the claims that she was rude, and the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries star’s daughter, Natasha Bure, clapped back at Siwa, telling her to “grow up” in an Instagram Story that she deleted soon after.

JoJo Siwa’s mother Jessalynn also weighed in, appearing to throw shade at Candace Cameron Bure. The dance mom said it’s “super easy to quote a Bible verse when everyone is looking at you but morals are what you have when no one is looking,” which was presumably a reference to Bure’s social media activity in the immediate aftermath of the viral video. Jessalynn Siwa also posted an old clip from her podcast, in which she’d relayed the story of the Fuller House premiere.

After the Boomerang singer went viral for her callout, other celebrities came forward to air their grievances. Hilary Duff’s husband Matthew Koma also called out the Fuller House star for not understanding the meaning of Bruce Springsteen’s hit “Born in the U.S.A.” The Hills villain Spencer Pratt got in on the fun as well, with a dramatic retelling of a run-in with Friends actress Lisa Kudrow.

It seems JoJo Siwa and Candace Cameron Bure are letting bygones be bygones in the name of being “civil,” so we’ll just have to wait to see what unexpected celebrity feud pops up next. 

There are lots of reasons people partake in TikTok trends: they’re fun, the results can be hilarious, it cures the boredom, etc. JoJo Siwa, on the other hand, has proven that she’s not above using the platform to air her grievances. Weeks after she lit the Internet on fire with a post that said Candace Cameron Bure was the rudest celebrity she’d ever met, the Dance Moms alum is at it again. This time around she took aim at Justin Bieber for the rude comments he made about her first car back in 2018.

JoJo Siwa jumped on the TikTok trend featuring audio from The Vampire Diaries that says, “Burn it. Did I say stand there and look stupid? No, I said burn it.” Her post called back to Christmas four years ago, showing the Dancing With the Stars runner-up’s Christmas present — a new car designed with Siwa’s face and lots of splashy colors, hearts, stars and more. Highlighted in the comments is a response from none other than The Biebs himself, with some pretty appropriate words. Take a look at the video:

OK, TikTok teed JoJo Siwa up for this petty callback, and it was perfect. As the dancer showed in her post, Justin Bieber’s response to seeing that eyebrow-raising design was, “Burn it.” It’s like she’s been keeping this one in her back pocket, just waiting for the right time to pull it back out. God bless TikTok.

Unlike her social media slam of Candace Cameron Bure, however, this time it seems to be all in good fun, as Justin Bieber was quick to apologize for his rudeness back in the day:

This beef was started around Christmas and wrapped up before the ball dropped on New Year's Eve. In what was maybe the shortest-lived celebrity feud ever, JoJo Siwa accepted the “Sorry” singer’s apology, on one condition, of course:

Ah, the wholesome days of 2018. 

JoJo Siwa’s brouhaha with the Full House alum seemed much messier. After her video with the "rude" accusations went viral, celebrities flocked to support Candace Cameron Bure. Then Natasha Bure clapped back in defense of her mother, saying Siwa had “zero backbone” and needed to “grow up.” Jessalynn Siwa recounted her own version of the events, telling the GAC Family star that it’s “super easy to quote a Bible verse when everyone is looking at you but morals are what you have when no one is looking.” 

A phone conversation was exchanged between the two, and Candace Cameron Bure said everything was fine between them, although details of what exactly went down at the Fuller House premiere were combed through for days.

That storm seems to have passed, though, as all has been quiet with that most unexpected celebrity beef, allowing JoJo Siwa to move on to other celebrities who have done her wrong in the past — even if this latest one was resurrected for the sake of humor. Who will be next, JoJo?

Spoiler alert! This story contains spoilers for So You Think You Can Dance Season 17 semifinals, “The Final Cut.” 

There was a time when fans of So You Think You Can Dance weren’t sure Season 17 would ever come to fruition. Fox opted not to move forward with the dance competition in 2020 due to the pandemic, and it was unknown if or when the show would “cue music” for its dancers again. However, the dance gods smiled down, and Season 17 was given new life this year — albeit with a brand-new panel of SYTYCD judges and different format — and somehow we’re already down to the final two contestants. Even as we head into next week’s finale, there’s still one big change that viewers can’t seem to get over.

The final three competitors each performed three times in the semifinals, before hip-hop dancer Essence Wilmington was eliminated, advancing Keaton Kermode and Alexis Warr Burton to duke it out in next week’s finale for $100,000 and the title of “America’s Favorite Dancer.” That title, though, is something SYTYCD fans just can’t make peace with, and their complaints continued on Twitter during the penultimate episode of Season 17. As one viewer said: 

The biggest change that befell Season 17 — aside from Nigel Lythgoe’s removal from the judges’ table — was that for the first time in So You Think You Can Dance history, the voting was not in the hands of the people watching at home, but solely left to the studio audience and the judges. Therefore, many on Twitter don’t think it’s right that the Season 17 winner be dubbed “America’s Favorite Dancer.” 

Questions have loomed all season about whether or not the Season 17 voting method is fair. The in-studio voting method works well enough for other competition shows, including Fox’s The Masked Singer, but So You Think You Can Dance puts more focus on its dancers’ growth over the course of a season, or their ability to take notes on a week-to-week basis. That kind of knowledge isn’t something the studio audience is going to have access to the same way as the fans watching from home, as this fan indicated:

The voting may be the biggest point of contention this season, but it’s far from the only one. The judges have spent the past couple of months on the defensive, as So You Think You Can Dance contestant-turned-coach tWitch responded to fan complaints that began in the audition process, and Dance Moms alum JoJo Siwa had to drop a truth bomb about her own expertise in the field. After Matthew Morrison was fired for inappropriate behavior, Leah Remini was tapped as a late replacement, and the King of Queens actress also clapped back at critics, telling them to just let her enjoy the experience.

It’s unlikely the voting format will be changed for the final episode of Season 17, but it will be interesting to see how the feedback will affect the show going forward. For now, you can catch up on this season with a subscription to Hulu, and tune in at 9 p.m. ET Wednesday, August 10 on Fox to see who will be crowned “America’s Favorite Dancer” (or whatever you prefer to call it). 

There’s been a little bit of back-and-forth between Candace Cameron Bure and JoJo Siwa since the So You Think You Can Dance Judge called the actress the “rudest celebrity” she’d ever met. Even after the Fuller House vet spilled the tea on her supposed snub of the Dance Moms star, Siwa stood by her version of the events, and it turns out she wasn’t the first person in her family to speak about it. Her mom Jessalynn Siwa reposted a clip from her podcast discussing their run-in at the Fuller House premiere, adding a message to Bure about genuine kindness.

Jessalynn Siwa, who also appeared on the Lifetime reality show Dance Moms, took to Instagram to share a clip from a past episode of her podcast Success with Jess, in which she recalled Candace Cameron Bure dismissing her daughter after JoJo had asked for a photo. In the caption alongside the clip, the mom said it wasn’t about the photo op being ignored, but the way JoJo was treated. Jessalynn said:

Before JoJo Siwa and the GAC Family actress spoke on the phone regarding the former’s viral TikTok post, Candace Cameron Bure posted a Bible verse to her Instagram rather than addressing the situation directly. Not everyone saw that as taking the high road, though. In mentioning the actress’ morals, Jessalynn Siwa seemed to suggest the way she presents herself publicly is not the way Bure acted when they met her in person. The version of events the dance mom told wasn’t so different from what Candace Cameron Bure or JoJo Siwa have said, but it’s clear from the old clip that the mother/daughter duo held a grudge against Bure for years after the interaction. Jessalynn Siwa did give the actress some grace, however, admitting she didn’t know what was going on in Bure’s life to be able to dispute the fact that she really couldn’t take a picture with her daughter at that time. She said on the podcast:

Jessalynn Siwa’s daughter got her ego bruised by a celebrity they both had looked up to, and it’s understandable that she would hate to see JoJo Siwa go through that. Whether or not that speaks to Candace Cameron Bure’s overall demeanor is up for debate. Natasha Bure jumped in to defend her mother after the initial fracas, as a number of Bure’s friends rushed to support the Full House alum after JoJo’s accusations, saying no one should be judged based on a single moment. It’s just unfortunate that that single moment left such a lasting impression on the dancer.

Candace Cameron Bure has found herself in the center of some TikTok drama over the past week, as first JoJo Siwa called her the “rudest celebrity” she’d met, and then Hilary Duff’s husband Matthew Koma schooled Bure on the actual meaning of Bruce Springsteen’s song “Born in the U.S.A.” The How I Met Your Father star was indirectly pulled into the situation via her husband, and judging from the family pics Duff shared on social media, “indirectly” is how she’s choosing to respond as well. 

Hilary Duff posted a series of photos to her Instagram Stories, showing her, Matthew Koma, and their kids enjoying some family time. There were some bowling pics that definitely didn't seem to be in response to any drama involving the Fuller House star and The Boss, but one photo in particular showed that if she did take sides, she’s got Koma’s back. There’s no questioning where the Lizzie McGuire actress’ loyalties lie, as her photo boasts that she "Got the best one." 

It’s unknown why Matthew Koma picked this week to call out Candace Cameron Bure for not knowing that the 1984 hit was not a patriotic anthem, but rather a commentary on the terrible treatment of Vietnam War vets upon their return to the United States. While Koma is definitely not wrong, Bure’s post was from the 4th of July — posted nearly a month before his response — and the GAC Family actress is hardly the first person to make such a mistake.

Either way, Candace Cameron Bure found her name making the rounds on another news cycle, which is likely not anybody’s preferred way to start the week. That being the case, it’s hard to say if Hilary Duff’s Instagram post was in response to all the media attention, or simply a cute post of her young daughter having a case of the Mondays. Little Mae certainly does look like she’d rather just stay out of all of it, but it’s possible there's no deeper meaning to this than Hilary Duff simply wanting to share the super relatable snap of her adorable little girl. 

Candace Cameron Bure, for her part, did not respond directly to Matthew Koma, posting a video to her Instagram Stories reciting the Bible verse Isaiah 12:2:

There was obviously no reference in her reading to the continued TikTok hullabaloo (Bruce Springsteen makes zero appearances in Scripture), but responding via Bible verse does seem to be par for the course with the Full House alum. Candace Cameron Bure initially posted a different verse from Isaiah after JoJo Siwa’s accusations that she was the “rudest celebrity” the So You Think You Can Dance judge had ever met.

We’ll have to see if this leg of the feud ends here, or if the Aurora Teagarden actress will go on the defensive again. After Candace Cameron Bure spilled the tea about what happened between her and JoJo Siwa, a number of celebrities came to Bure’s defense. Her daughter Natasha Bure — one of many celebrity relatives who have competed on The Voice — even posted and deleted a message telling the Dance Moms veteran to “grow up.” While we wait to see if more shots will be fired, take a look at our 2022 TV schedule to see what premieres are coming up soon.

So You Think You Can Dance’s decision to overhaul its judges panel this season likely hasn’t gone as smoothly as was hoped. After Matthew Morrison had to be replaced for violations to competition protocol, both JoJo Siwa and SYTYCD vet Stephen Boss (a.k.a. tWitch) faced criticism from viewers on social media. Now it’s Leah Remini’s turn to defend herself, after coming in to replace Morrison. She posted a humorous video clapping back at people who wonder why she was chosen to be a judge.

The King of Queens actress was a late addition to So You Think You Can Dance’s 17th season. Leah Remini came in for the show’s milestone 300th episode, and despite her background in entertainment — including appearances on Dancing With the Stars as a contestant, guest host, and guest judge — fans were a little confused about her lack of specific dance expertise. Remini addressed those people on Instagram. Check it out:

So while Leah Remini argued that she has every right to be on the panel, pointing out that she even owns a dance studio and has been taking lessons in all different kinds of dance, she’s on So You Think You Can Dance to judge the performances. Viewers of Season 17 have definitely seen her disagree with her fellow judges when she is entertained by a number despite any technical errors. 

Also, the actress questioned, what makes a person worthy of judging a dance competition? Does one have to be a dancer? In the end, she basically told fans to just back off and let her have her fun, which she's apparently having a lot of. She said in the video:

The actress’ co-hosts also seem to like having her next to them, as both JoJo Siwa and tWitch praised Leah Remini for what she brings to the show. The dancers on the panel certainly haven’t been immune to the negative feedback. The Dance Moms alum dropped a truth bomb on the critics who questioned her expertise, and tWitch even had to respond to fan complaints.

It’s definitely been an adjustment this season, as fans not only are seeing the first season in SYTYCD history without Nigel Lythgoe behind the judges’ table, but also a change in how the contestants are moved forward in the competition. Voting for “America’s Favorite Dancer” in Season 17 has been limited to the studio audience and judges, with home viewers not having any input for the first time.

Just when we all thought that the unexpected (and likely unintended) drama between So You Think You Can Dance judge JoJo Siwa and former Hallmark queen Candace Cameron Bure was over, well, it’s back. After Siwa called Cameron Bure the “rudest” celebrity she’s ever met, the Fuller House actress seemingly posted a Bible verse in response, but did later manage to call the Dance Moms alum so they could hash things out and she could apologize. Apparently, though, Cameron Bure’s daughter, Natasha, is still salty about what Siwa said and has clapped back, though Siwa herself seems to have no regrets about her comments.

What Did Candace Cameron Bure’s Daughter Say About JoJo Siwa?

We all know that it’s not exactly easy to live much of your life in the public eye, especially because lots of fans like to feel like they can interact with celebrities when they spot them in the wild, and many will attempt to do so at what turn out to be inopportune times for the celebs in question. This basically seems to be what happened when JoJo Siwa spotted Candace Cameron Bure on the red carpet at the Fuller House premiere years ago, and the actress turned down her request for a photo op. While it sounds like she and Siwa have basically cleared the air now, Natasha Bure is still displeased, and took her feelings to a now deleted Instagram Story (via Entertainment Tonight), writing, in part:

Wow. Alright, let’s first acknowledge two things. The first is that it must be very difficult to have someone slam your mom’s character, especially over something that you see as a small disappointment. Bure also noted in her Story that her mother is “the most kind, soft-spoken, apologetic, class act” there is (with some of Cameron Bure’s famous buddies also sticking up for her), and I don’t think that anyone doubts that Cameron Bure tries to stick with that good behavior most of the time. Secondly, we can all probably see that Siwa’s experience with Cameron Bure wasn’t the worst interaction that anyone could have with a celebrity, (which Siwa herself has pretty much acknowledged), but that’s not really the point.

The other side of this is that Siwa was a young child of 11 when this happened, and as she explained in a video obtained by Page Six, it was afterward, when Siwa noticed Cameron Bure taking photos with other kids, that she got “really, really upset” and said that the memory “stuck with” her. We all remember what it’s like to be a little kid and have our feelings hurt, and few of us can say that those feelings don’t stick with us for quite some time. Also, Siwa is currently only 19 years old, so if, during the intervening years, she’s not been even remotely disappointed by any other interactions with famous folk, it makes a lot of sense that her brief time with Cameron Bure would still stick out to her.

For her part, JoJo Siwa appears to have no regrets for labeling Candace Cameron Bure the “rudest” celeb she’s met, or for opening up about what led her to that opinion, and noted that she had “a positive call” with the star. But, as she added in her video:

Hopefully, all three parties involved in this relatively mild celebrity controversy can see where everyone else is coming from, take time to think about what went down, and let this beef die.

There’s been an ongoing saga between Full House star Candace Cameron Bure and Dance Moms’ JoJo Siwa. The latter has grown extremely popular on social media in recent years, and a viral TikTok recently showed that she felt Bure was “The Rudest Celebrity” she’d ever met. However, apparently she didn’t think the video would go viral, as she and Bure connected after the incident, with the older actress explaining the backstory behind the video. She’s now also received support from her new GAC Family co-stars, including Jen Lilley, along with a slew of other celebrities. 

Candace Cameron Bure’s brand new GAC Family has been supportive in the past, and after she shared her side of this TikTok story, Jen Lilley was one of the first women to reach out, simply telling her network pal, “I love you.” Her former Hallmark co-star Alexa PenaVega also called her “a class act.” 

Hallmark's Jill Wagner, who recently announced her own Christmas film at GAC Family, also spoke out about being glad the two former Dancing with the Stars competitors had a chance to talk. 

Those who know the actress super well also came to her defense. Bure’s fitness instructor Kira Stokes – who often is the mind behind the star’s frequent workout videos – also shared nothing but kind words for her client.

And Bob Saget’s wife Kelly Rizzo also weighed in with a lighthearted joke that also makes it clear she does not feel Bure is remotely mean-spirited. Of course it's worth noting that Bure has been a champion of keeping Saget's legacy alive after his tragic passing earlier this year. She even created sweatshirts to remember Bob Saget and to help raise money for the Scleroderma Research Foundation, which he had championed while he was alive.  

Other celebrities personally seemed to identify with this story, which is a classic case of a story going viral on the internet in snippet form without any sort of nuance. Tori Spelling called Bure “her spirit animal,” before going on to explain: 

Most people know full and well that sometimes things aren’t as they seem on the Internet, but that doesn't usually stop stories like these from going viral. In this case, Candance Cameron Bure said she reached out to JoJo Siwa after the video went all over the interwebs. Siwa said she hadn’t thought it would be “a big deal,” but Bure asserted herself and noted, “it was a big deal.” 

The two got to talking and the younger social media personality admitted that one time when she was a kid on the red carpet at a Fuller House premiere, she had felt that Bure had not been kind to her. Now that she's done more red carpets as an adult, JoJo Siwa allegedly gets how busy it can get. Yet it still stood out as the rudest time she's been treated on a red carpet, which prompted the TikTok that went viral.  

It's been a complicated few days to explain a viral TikTok which lasts a sum total of six seconds, but it sounds like the two stars are on the same page now. Plus, even if Candace Cameron Bure made a lasting impression on Siwa in a not-so-great way, it seems clear she's done the opposite for many of the other people involved in her life. 

Earlier this week, Candace Cameron Bure found herself caught up in yet another social media-related incident. Singer JoJo Siwa, while taking part in a TikTok trend, referred to Cameron Bure as the “rudest celebrity” she’d ever encountered. Up until this point, the actress had only seemingly responded by posting a Bible verse on social media. But now, Cameron Bure has spilled a bit of tea, explaining why Siwa gave her that title. She also discussed how the two have since connected. 

Candace Cameron Bure addressed the viral incident during a recent installment of “Candace’s Car Chronicles” that was posted to her Instagram. During the video, the star explained that she was “shocked” when she saw JoJo Siwa’s TikTok video for herself and subsequently tried to reach out to the 19-year-old performer. Cameron Bure eventually got in contact with her publicist, thanks to a mutual friend. Once she got a hold of Siwa herself, the two seemed to have had a friendly conversation, during which Siwa revealed that she was surprised by how things had turned out:

Of course, the former Hallmark staple was looking to learn one major question: what did she do to receive the title of “rudest celebrity” from the Nickelodeon alum? From there, Candace Cameron Bure explained that the two met once at The Kelly Clarkson Show, an encounter that apparently went “really great.” As she recalled, JoJo Siwa agreed with that assessment in their recent chat, saying that Cameron Bure was “super nice.” But as Siwa would further explained, this all stemmed from something that occurred at an event years ago:

So the end result of this little snafu was a sweet mea culpa between the two stars. The DJ Fuller actress went on to say that as a mother, she too would’ve felt bad if one of her kids felt slighted by a celebrity. She then summed up the entire social media mix-up, saying that the “lesson” here is that no matter how many followers one has, a video can “do damage” because “we all influence the people around us.” Check out the full video down below:

This was definitely one of the more civil resolutions that Candace Cameron Bure has experienced when it comes to a social media dispute. A few years ago, for instance, her followers were upset by a photo that showed her husband touching her boob. Shortly after, Cameron Bure clapped back at the photo’s haters, especially chastising “Christians” who took issue with it. A few months ago, she was also called out for not commenting on the Uvalde School shooting. The actress subsequently urged fans not to view her silence as an indicator of where she stood on the matter.

Candace Cameron Bure has no problem defending herself against trolls or setting the record straight on an issue. Thankfully, in the case of JoJo Siwa, everything seems to have turned out just fine. One would only hope that similar misunderstandings between stars can be resolved as respectfully as this one.

From BTS photos from her acting gigs to funny Father’s Day posts for husband Valeri Bure, the star seems to have a lot of fun with her platforms. Once in a while, though, she also responds to backlash or critiques, and she recently received one of the latter from singer and actress JoJo Siwa, who dubbed Cameron Bure the “rudest celebrity” she’s ever met. While the Hollywood vet hasn’t officially responded, she did post a Bible verse. 

JoJo Siwa took part in a TikTok trend that sees people reveal the nicest, coolest and rudest celebrities they’ve ever met.  In the video, the grinning Siwa revealed her picks by quickly flashing photos of them on her phone. Though her choice for the “rudest” was fast, curious fans paused the frame and found Candace Cameron Bure to be her candidate for the title.  

Sometime after the Nickelodeon alum’s video went viral, the Fuller House star took to her Instagram stories and posted a well-known Bible verse. The passage, Isaiah 26: 4, simply reads, “Trust the Lord always.” Take a look at the star’s post: 

It’s no secret that the former Hallmark staple is a Christian and regularly speaks about her faith, so to see her put out a message like this isn’t all that surprising. It’s a simple sentiment and one that seems to aptly sum up her faith.

It’s possible that this message may not have been posted in response to JoJo Siwa’s video (even if the timing does seem to sync up). After all, the 46-year-old actress has posted a plethora of devotionals over the years, and she could just be continuing with that practice. Something that can be said, however, is that if this was indeed her way of addressing the viral clip, it’s far more subtle than some of the other ways she’s clapped back at criticism. 

In 2020, Candace Cameron Bure responded after her followers got mad about a photo that showed her hubby touching her boob. The star didn’t mince words, telling the “Christians” who were upset that her husband of over 20 years “can touch [her] anytime he wants, and [she] hope[s] he does.” Cameron Bure addressed those who hated the photo again in a separate post, in which she shared her views on the Christian community’s relationship with sex. Just a few months ago, she was also called out for not discussing the Uvalde School shooting. In that situation, she chastised social media users for assuming that her silence indicated where she stood on the matter. 

Candace Cameron Bure understands how tricky digital platforms are, especially since even her daughter has dealt with social media hate. Some probably wouldn’t feel compelled to deal with trolls as consistently as she does. But Cameron Bure has explained that she defends herself because she wants to remind the public that she’s not just a celebrity – she’s also a person with feelings.

Unless she’s asked about it, the Full House actress may not bother to respond to JoJo Siwa’s video, I think. And if she does, it’ll be an honest message that could even include another Bible verse.

There’s a reason they say, “Never meet your heroes,” and it’s because often there’s no way those people we hold in high esteem can live up to the expectations we’ve set up for them in our minds. I don’t know if Full House star Candace Cameron Bure was ever a hero of JoJo Siwa’s, but it seems there must be some kind of unknown history between the two. The first-time So You Think You Can Dance judge slammed the actress (albeit for a split second) while taking part in a current TikTok trend, revealing who she thinks are the nicest, coolest — and rudest — celebrities she’s ever met.

The Dance Mom alum was feeling “exposed,” she said in the caption of her TikTok post, in which she shared superlatives regarding the famous people she’s encountered over the years. Her first reveal was a bit surprising, as the caption, “Rudest celebrity I’ve met…,” was followed by a grinning Siwa flashing a blink-and-you’ll-miss it screenshot on her phone of Candace Cameron Bure. It's a bit unfair of JoJo Siwa to tease us with that kind of shade and not give any explanation for why she thinks the Fuller House star is the rudest celebrity she's ever met. Candace Cameron Bure is known for roles like the saccharine-sweet D.J. Tanner on Full House and the super-chaste characters on GAC Family’s movies. Is it possible we’ve built up an expectation for the actress herself to be as consistently sweet and generous? Possibly, but either way that’s a pretty strong statement, especially coming from a former dance student of Abby Lee Miller. I need more information ASAP, thanks.

PageSix reported that JoJo Siwa attended the premiere of the Netflix spinoff Fuller House in 2016, but it’s unknown if the two shared an interaction then that the SYTYCD expert found rude enough to call Candace Cameron Bure out publicly. Bure has not responded to Siwa’s accusations, but she did get candid recently about going through a funk. She took to Instagram to share with fans that she hadn’t been able to find the motivation to work out and was “fighting against my own will.”

After her swipe at Candace Cameron Bure, JoJo Siwa's other TikTok reveals were fun — and way less controversial. She said her celebrity crush is Zendaya, Miley Cyrus is the nicest celebrity she’s met, and Elton John is the coolest. She did take one more shot with her last answer, proclaiming the “Celebrity that did me dirty…” was Spongebob Squarepants. I doubt the dancer has any actual beef with the absorbent and yellow and porous sponge. Rather, this was most likely in reference to her feud with Nickelodeon, who she blasted last year for not allowing her to perform the songs she’d written and recorded for The J Team while she was out on her D.R.E.A.M. The supposed beef between JoJo Siwa and Candace Cameron Bure is intriguing, to be sure, and it will be interesting to see if anything more is said about whatever transpired between the two. So You Think You Can Dance flipped the script on the judges panel for its long-awaited return to Fox for Season 17. Co-creator Nigel Lythgoe had been the only permanent judge for the dance competition's first 16 seasons, but when the show was revived after two years post-COVID, it was done so with three fresh faces behind the table. At the time, Lythgoe expressed sadness over the decision, and with Season 17 in full gear, he again indicated how he’d feel about returning.

Despite being removed from the judges panel this season, Nigel Lythgoe has remained faithful to the show he created with Simon Fuller back in 2005, regularly tweeting support for the dancers, as well as the judges who currently reside on the panel — tWitch, JoJo Siwa and Leah Remini. A recent post on Twitter, however, made it look like he may still be holding out hope for a return appearance himself, when he thanked followers for well-wishes on his birthday. He said: 

Fans, of course, guessed that Nigel Lythgoe’s birthday wish was to be back on So You Think You Can Dance, and to that, he responded with a simple smiley face emoji. 

It makes complete sense that Nigel Lythgoe would still be interested in returning to the show. He was originally announced to be judging Season 17 with Mary Murphy and Laurieann Gibson, before the long hiatus and eventual decision to skew for a younger audience. 

Fans actually thought he might get his chance to come back, after Glee alum Matthew Morrison was fired for not following competition production protocols when he apparently contacted one of the contestants outside the show. It was Leah Remini, however, who got the call — not Nigel Lythgoe — and she made her SYTYCD premiere on the competition's milestone 300th episode.

It has not been an easy road for the new judges of Season 17. Lifelong dancer JoJo Siwa has fought off critics who said she’s not qualified enough to serve on the panel, and Stephen “tWitch” Boss — who was runner-up of SYTYCD Season 4 — has responded to fans’ critiques about the dancers who were being chosen to compete. The elimination process has changed this season as well, and for the first time, the dancers who advance in the competition are being chosen by the in-studio audience and judges, rather than the viewing audience at home.

Only time will tell if Nigel Lythgoe’s birthday wish will come true, as well as whether or not this season will dictate further changes to So You Think You Can Dance’s format — should it get renewed for Season 18, that is. Leah Remini is settling into her new and unexpected role as a judge on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance. The King of Queens actress replaced Matthew Morrison for Season 17 after he was fired over not adhering to “competition production protocols” following the audition rounds in which he, JoJo Siwa and Stephen Boss (a.k.a. tWitch) chose the Top 12 dancers to advance in the competition. Some viewers found it odd that the Emmy-winning Remini heeded the call to take the third spot behind the judges’ table, due to her not having a background primarily in dance.  It doesn't bother her fellow judges, though, who seem to like the way she fits into the group regardless.

While tWitch got his start on So You Think You Can Dance as a contestant on Season 4, and JoJo Siwa has been dancing on TV since she was 10 years old on Abby Lee’s Ultimate Dance Competition (and later Dance Moms), Leah Remini’s background is far less dance-specific. She does, however, come with decades of experience in the entertainment industry on both sides of the camera, and tWitch told People he loves what she brings to the judging panel:

In her first couple of episodes, Remini proved that she’s not afraid to disagree with the arguably more knowledgeable dancers to her right, sometimes praising the performance aspect of a number even if tWitch or JoJo Siwa has critiqued that contestant’s technical execution. If only all situations in life involving contrasting opinions also included such positivity. 

Just as tWitch said he enjoys the different perspectives the trio are bringing to the table, Siwa also doesn’t seem to mind when Leah Remini has a different opinion. To her, Season 17’s newest judge helps to bring the humor. As the YouTube star put it:

JoJo Siwa is known for her larger-than-life personality, and tWitch’s smile could light up the darkest cave, so it’s hard to imagine that group would need someone else to lighten the mood. However, they both also take their craft very seriously, and some of their more pointed feedback to the contestants has elicited boos from the audience. 

Plus, having a judge who focuses on aspects other than technical ability is important for a show that has cemented the distinction to crown “America’s Favorite Dancer” as it does, rather than the best dancer. But that still hasn’t kept some fans from speaking out on social media about their disappointment in not having a third dance professional in the mix.

Of course, JoJo Siwa has also clapped back at critics who’ve questioned her own expertise even though she's been dancing for her whole life. And tWitch has even addressed disappointed fans who complained about some of the choices the judges made in choosing which contestants are advancing on the show. So at least Leah Remini is in good company with not being able to please them all! 

So You Think You Can Dance is down to its Top 10, and after the June 22 episode saw the girls dancing in their preferred genres. Spoilers ahead for the fourth episode of So You Think You Can Dance Season 17.

The stakes are higher than ever in Season 17 of So You Think You Can Dance after the choreography round of competition, where the group of dancers had one day and limited chances to prove to judges tWitch, Matthew Morrison, and JoJo Siwa that they deserve to be part of the Top 12 who will continue on. The episode ended before the reveal of those lucky twelve who impressed the judges enough to keep dancing, but the final minutes featured Siwa deciding on who she thinks will win based on how they've performed so far. But will she be right?

Well, the episode didn’t actually show who JoJo Siwa picked, but simply showed her pointing at the picture of whoever it is in the lineup of the Top 12. After tWitch noted that “the winner of the season is in this twelve right here,” Matthew Morrison asked if he wanted to pick, and both men laughed before Siwa said:

Her fellow judges clearly found her pick interesting, but nobody dropped the name or showed the identity of JoJo Siwa’s prediction. She did seem to point at a photo on the end of the lineup that featured the female dancers, but it’s possible that the pictures were rearranged at some point. There’s really no saying at this point who she has decided has the best shot at winning, based on the performances so far. 

So how can we gauge whether or not she’ll be correct? JoJo Siwa more or less answered that question herself recently, in response to viewers who questioned whether or not she was even qualified to serve as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance following a recent episode (which you can find streaming with a Hulu subscription). On Twitter, the 19-year-old performer and judge wrote: 

Viewers who know her more from YouTube and/or her appearances on The Masked Singer and Dancing with the Stars (where she made history even though she didn’t win) may not have been aware of her long history of dance, but Dance Moms fans certainly did! Although she became more famous thanks to YouTube in later years, her break into the entertainment industry came via two seasons of the Lifetime series, working with the divisive Abby Lee Miller. 

Whether or not her pick for the winner of SYTYCD truly emerges on top (and whether or not fans ever find out who she thought was worthy of the win as of the choreography round) remains to be seen, but there’s no denying that she has a strong background in dance. tWitch and Matthew Morrison certainly take her seriously as a fellow judge. 

Of course, Matthew Morrison’s time as a judge on SYTYCD ended early, although fans haven’t yet seen him depart. He was fired from the show not too long after the long-awaited Season 17 premiere, then later opened up to address the allegations about what led to his departure from the dance competition show. He had already pre-taped a number of episodes, so it could be some time before fans get any news of who will replace him at the judges’ table alongside JoJo Siwa and tWitch.

So You Think You Can Dance returned to Fox this spring after the long hiatus initially caused by the COVID pandemic, and so far it’s been navigating some rough waters. In addition to losing new judge Matthew Morrison for not following “competition production protocols,” the other members of the revamped judging panel have been subject to some pretty harsh criticism from viewers. After Stephen Boss, a.k.a. tWitch, responded to some fan complaints, JoJo Siwa gave her own response to the social media backlash.

Season 17 of the dance competition is the series’ first without executive producer Nigel Lythgoe behind the judges’ table. He, Mary Murphy, and Laurieann Gibson had been tapped to serve on the panel pre-COVID, but when the series was revived this year, a decidedly younger group of dance experts was chosen to take their place. In SYTYCD’s first few episodes this season, fans have provided some harsh feedback, and JoJo Siwa didn’t take too kindly to those questioning her expertise. So she dropped her resume on Twitter for those who may be unfamiliar:

The Dancing with the Stars runner-up has been dancing pretty much her whole life. She came to fame as part of Dance Moms after appearing on the spinoff Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition when she was 10-years-old. She has built a successful brand since those days with her music and YouTube channel, so she’s completely justified in pointing out that she’s been in the business long enough to know what she’s doing.

She’s no stranger to criticism either. Growing up in controversial dance teacher Abby Lee’s studio wasn’t for the faint of heart, and when JoJo Siwa came out in early 2021, she had a great response for people who said they’d no longer be her fans. She’s also not one to be walked all over — as she proved when she bumped heads with Nickelodeon regarding her music — and she did call out online trolls for unnecessarily harsh comments about So You Think You Can Dance’s Season 17.

Honestly, JoJo Siwa has a point: if you’re not watching, why do you care? tWitch has been fielding his own share of the complaints, and when it comes to accusations that talented dancers are being turned away from the competition in favor of more interesting stories, he politely disagreed, promising that this season’s talent is “PHENOMENAL.”

Glee alum Matthew Morrison, meanwhile, will not be part of So You Think You Can Dance after the season’s Top 12 are chosen. He was fired from the series "after he had an inappropriate relationship with a female contestant,” People reported. His replacement has not yet been named, but many fans are wondering if Nigel Lythgoe might end up on the judging panel after all. We’ll have to wait and see.

Abby Lee Miller rose to fame as the no-nonsense teacher on Dance Moms, a reality show that showcased a group of young dancers on a competition team in Pittsburgh... and their mothers. Along the way, some of those girls became well-known, too, and as her most talented students — including Maddie Ziegler and JoJo Siwa — started to get actual paying jobs, Miller’s luck took a bad turn, and she ended up spending eight months in prison for fraud. The teacher said that none of her Lifetime co-stars reached out to her while she served her time, and four years since her release, she’s still furious about it.

Speaking to ET, Abby Lee Miller called out the families who were featured for multiple seasons on the Lifetime reality show, saying that she helped them achieve success, only to have them distance themselves when she fell on tough times:

While Abby Lee Miller was originally sentenced to a year and a day in prison, she was released to a halfway house after eight months because of ongoing health issues. She said that although she didn’t hear from her former dancers, she did get plenty of correspondence from other children around the world: 

The dance teacher said she doesn’t understand how they can’t give her the credit she’s due for her work in helping them become successful. She may be right, but the relationships between Abby Lee Miller and the families who surrounded her on the show were always fraught with drama, long before Miller’s legal woes came to light. There were assault allegations (dismissed for lack of evidence), and moms constantly were either quitting or being thrown out by the studio owner. 

Maddie Ziegler, who appeared in West Side Story last year, left during Season 6 to work with pop star Sia, straining the close student/teacher relationship she’d shared with Abby Lee Miller. Ziegler, who also starred in The Fallout with Jenna Ortega, confirmed in 2018 that she no longer spoke to her former instructor. Chloe Lukasiak initially left the studio after Season 4 and has since revealed the reason was because she overheard the dance teacher making fun of a medical condition she has.

One former member of the Abby Lee Dance Company who the teacher doesn’t seem to have any beef with is JoJo Siwa. Abby Lee Miller spoke out in support of the new So You Think You Can Dance judge when Siwa came out in 2021, and she said Siwa still keeps in touch.

Dance fans received some great news last month when it was announced that So You Think You Can Dance would return for its previously COVID-canceled 17th season, and now there are even more reasons to celebrate. Fox has announced a completely overhauled judges panel with some exciting and familiar faces, including recent Dancing With the Stars runner-up and Dance Moms vet JoJo Siwa. 

When SYTYCD returns to Fox on Wednesday, May 18, JoJo Siwa will be joined by fellow judges Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who competed on the show himself in Season 4, and Glee alum Matthew Morrison. What's more, the network also announced that Cat Deeley will be returning as the host, giving the upcoming episodes that much more connective tissue with prior seasons.

Many longtime SYTYCD fans were disappointed when Nigel Lythgoe announced he was not asked to return to the judges panel. As co-creator and executive producer, Lythgoe was previously the only permanent member of a panel that featured a revolving door of judges over the years. Before Season 17 was canceled back in 2020, Mary Murphy and Laurieann Gibson were slated to join Lythgoe in that post, but the pandemic allowed the show the opportunity to mix things up. I’m personally excited to see what the new energy this season's judges bring to the competition.

JoJo Siwa joins So You Think You Can Dance as the second former Dance Moms star to grace the judges' chairs, as West Side Story actress Maddie Ziegler was a judge for the show’s 13th season. Siwa is fresh off her historic appearance on Dancing With the Stars, during which she became the first contestant in the show’s history to dance with a same-sex partner. She and Jenna Johnson (who was a SYTYCD contestant herself in Season 10) placed second.

It will be a homecoming of sorts for Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who was the runner-up when he competed on the Fox show back in 2008. The Magic Mike XXL actor is wrapping up his gig as DJ for The Ellen Degeneres Show and has been a regular feature on So You Think You Can Dance in the years since he competed, often returning as an “all-star” to duet with the current contestants or to serve as a guest judge. It will be great to see him there as a permanent fixture to help other dancers take advantage of the opportunity like he did. 

Matthew Morrison may be widely known as Glee’s Will Schuester, but this star of stage and screen brings plenty of experience to the SYTYCD judges panel. Morrison has been in a number of theater productions, most recently on Broadway in South Pacific in 2015. He’s been nominated for a Tony, an Emmy and two Golden Globe Awards, and appeared on other popular series including American Horror Story and Grey’s Anatomy. 

Of course, So You Think You Can Dance wouldn’t be the same without Cat Deeley keeping everybody in line. The five-time Emmy nominee will reclaim her rightful place on stage as host. 

While it’s sad to say goodbye to some familiar faces in Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, I think Fox made some great choices for Season 17, and the premiere can’t come soon enough. Dancing With the Stars’ 30th season recently wrapped up, and it was memorable, to say the least. Each of the show's distinguished contestants seemed to have had eventful tenures on the show. This is especially true for runner-up JoJo Siwa, who made a bit of history as a competitor. Siwa, who was once the little diva viewers watched on Dance Moms, recently opened up about how the show changed her life and her awareness of herself, even. 

While attending the iHeartRadio 102.7 KIIS FM Jingle Ball concert, the entertainer caught up with ET to discuss a number of topics, including her DWTS stint. Being on a show for months during which you have to work closely with a dance partner can definitely leave a lasting impact on you. Based on her comments, it sounds like the dancer and actress is already going through some dancing withdrawal:

I mean, that's a really nice thing to say about a TV show that's essentially a... job. Granted, JoJo Siwa and partner Jenna Johnson made some major waves throughout the season. As the first same-sex couple on the series, the two really had to prove their worth every week and they always seemed to do it with ease. Siwa went on to mention how Johnson made her feel even more confident as they progressed within the competition:

This has certainly been a big year for the young star. Back in January, she came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and quickly received messages of support from fans and friends. And when she was announced to be on the lineup for Season 30 of Dancing With the Stars, fans seemed to be equally pleased. Though she and her dance partner were't able to bring home the Mirrorball Trophy, it looks like that experience will stick with her for years to come.

Jenna Johnson recently spoke to CinemaBlend about her initial thoughts on being paired with the young woman. She was nervous about it at first, since since such a pairing had never happened before. However, she eventually warmed up to the idea and became very excited about it.

While their time together on DWTS is over, it looks like JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson will have a friendship that'll last for a lifetime. Maybe Johnson can join Siwa on her upcoming tour next year, even if it is for just a few dates? After all, one would think that the Dance Moms alum would incorporate what she learned during the dance competition into her upcoming performances. We'll just have to wait and see!

Dancing with the Stars Season 30 is nearly finished, and it’s been a notable season for a number of reasons. JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy played a big part in that, as the duo teamed up for the franchise’s first same-sex dancing duo. Their partnership and skills have positioned them as favorites to win this season, but despite their success, Johnson revealed to CinemaBlend that she harbored reservations early on about bringing that team-up to life. 

Jenna Johnson spoke to CinemaBlend recently about her run in Season 30, as well as partnering with JoJo Siwa. Johnson revealed the reason she was initially hesitant about being one-half of Dancing with the Stars’ first same-sex team, and how she eventually got on board and excited about the idea.

In the end, Jenna Johnson realized the criticism wasn’t as important as the amount of good it would do others to see her and JoJo Siwa dancing together on Dancing with the Stars. The two partnered up and lit the dance floor on fire with a slew of perfect scores and memorable performances each and every week. And it's the kind of success that could certainly inspire new waves of performers, which Johnson became aware of. She continued:

Jenna Johnson and JoJo Siwa feel like the favorites to win Dancing with the Stars, though it’s worth mentioning that high scores alone won’t earn them the Mirrorball trophy. Talented competitors have left early and often throughout Season 30, and even Siwa and Johnson found themselves in the Bottom Two just one week after a phenomenal performance. The pair haven’t always had the support of the fans, so it will be interesting to see if they can rally the troops in the finale and win.

Professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy is a staple of Dancing with the Stars, but recently indicated those days could be over, as the two-time winner shared that he’s “probably” done with the franchise following his unexpected and shocking elimination alongside Season 30 competitor Olivia Jade. But what might the star's future plans mean for his wife and fellow Dancing with the Stars pro Jenna Johnson? 

CinemaBlend spoke with Jenna Johnson days after she officially made the semifinals with her Season 30 dance partner (and YouTube queen) JoJo Siwa. I mentioned her husband Val Chmerkovskiy’s recent comments about leaving, and then asked if that had any bearing on her own Dancing with the Stars future. In her words:

Val Chmerkovskiy may or may not be on his way out the Dancing with the Stars door, but fans can take comfort in knowing that doesn’t mean Jenna Johnson has plans to ship out as well. As she put it to CinemaBlend, she’s hoping to stay with the show for as long as she's physically capable. And hopefully she can win another season long before that time ever arrives. 

Jenna Johnson definitely seems to be in a good spot to win Dancing with the Stars Season 30 alongside partner JoJo Siwa, but this season's fan voting has thrown their odds of winning into question. Johnson and Siwa found themselves in the Bottom Two recently, despite previously maintaining the highest scores all season. And as mentioned earlier, her husband Val Chmerkovskiy and Olivia Jade were immediatley booted during the double eliminations on Janet Jackson Night, despite earning a score that wasn't in the bottom two.  

I asked Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy about keeping spirits high in weeks where the scores don’t match the votes, and after describing the experience as an emotional rollercoaster, she talked about how Val Chmerkovskiy and Olivia Jade's elimination inspired her and JoJo Siwa to take nothing for granted going forward, saying:

JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson are on their toes and aiming to win fans over, which may make them all the more formidable in the final weeks of Dancing with the Stars. I’d argue it’s still their competition to win, though surprise entrants in the semifinals once again proved that audience voting this season is especially finicky. Will Johnson get another win, or could this be yet another stunning upset for her down the stretch? Either way it goes, at least we can be fairly sure it won't be her final season.

JoJo Siwa hasn’t struggled nearly as much as her fellow competitors in Dancing with the Stars Season 30, but I guess everyone is due for a bad day. Siwa and her dance partner Jenna Johnson went all out on “Queen Night,” partially because Siwa said former Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury is her idol. The two were awarded handsomely by the judges for their performances, but the audience votes just weren’t there. Siwa and Johnson found themselves in the Bottom 2 against Mike “The Miz” Mizanin and Witney Carson. Siwa survived elimination, but what does this mean for the rest of Season 30?

I’m not sure anyone expected to see JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson in the Bottom 2, but even with that shocking reveal, I never believed for a second that the Dancing with the Stars judges would send them home. I mean that with no disrespect to The Miz and Witney Carson, but their mediocre numbers (their costume game was always on point, though) since the start of the competition were up against Siwa, whose last three performances scored a 40, 40, and a 39 tonight. Siwa and Johnson also have the highest average score amongst competitors the entire season. It just didn’t seem feasible that Derek Hough or any of the judges would send her out, especially on Week 7. 

Even so, one has to wonder if the situation would be the same had JoJo Siwa been up against a more skilled competitor like Amanda Kloots or even Olivia Jade. Let’s not forget that Jade found herself in the exact same situation not that long ago but also was saved by the judges. The audience votes are definitely all over the place in Dancing with the Stars Season 30, and apparently, earning safety is more of a popularity contest than anything. 

JoJo Siwa is plenty popular, though, as evidenced by her millions of fans and followers scattered across Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. It’s baffling she didn’t have the votes for safety this week, but perhaps it’ll serve as a wakeup call to her supporters that it’s time to get back to voting. Olivia Jade’s supporters indeed returned after her down week, so it’ll be something to watch if Siwa’s fandom guarantees her safety next week. 

Long term, one has to wonder if JoJo Siwa will get the votes to win Dancing with the Stars or go down as another talented competitor sent packing over a fan favorite down the stretch. This week was the first real moment where it seemed plausible Siwa wouldn’t run away with the competition, which could be a glimmer of hope for the remaining pairs still fighting to stay in it.

I'm always a sucker for horror-themed anything, whether we're talking about Michael Myers' latest trip to the big screen, all things Mike Flanagan on Netflix, or even Dancing with the Stars' most spooktacular installments. While the ABC competition series tends to go for the more general "Halloween Night" theming, with contestants dancing to genre friendly tunes, Season 30's "Horror Night" allowed the cast of celebs and pro dancers to really bring it with the costuming and makeup. I may never sleep soundly again after seeing Amanda Kloots rocking her Billy the Puppet look from the Saw franchise.

When all was said and done, and Dancing with the Stars had claimed its victims — Kenya Moore and Brandon Armstrong's Arachnophobia-themed performance earned them an elimination — I think we can all agree that if this series were based purely on how awesome the titular stars looked with their horror tributes, Mike "The Miz" Mizanin's Pinhead from Hellraiser and JoJo Siwa's Pennywise the Dancing Clown from IT would have gone home the dual champions.

As one of the most sugar-coated social media stars out there, JoJo Siwa already made headlines for being one-half of Dancing with the Stars' first same-sex duo. But it was not the LGBTQ+ vibes so much as the murderous clown vibes that were prominent during Siwa and Jenna Johnson's performance of District 78's "Anything Goes," with Johnson donning a yellow slicker as the Georgie Denbrough to Siwa's Pennywise. It's safe to say neither Tim Curry nor Bill Skarsgård's IT monsters were nearly as distinguished when it came to the "Dancing Clown" portion of their monikers. Granted, Skarsgård's Pennywise did have that Vaudevillian leg-lifting move from the recent films, which I'm sure Siwa would have aped had she not been too busy nailing all her other, better moves.

By all means, JoJo Siwa's hair was already hypothetically perfect for a Pennywise portrayal, but who's have thought the pint-sized ray of sunshine would so smoothly and effectively transition into the role of an evil clown creature. As uncomfortable as it can be to sometimes see dancers straining to keep smiling through performances, Siwa's haunting grin was a perfectly fitting vision throughout.

And let's all give the duo three thumbs up for ending the performance on a gag referencing IT's Pennywise taking Georgie's arm. All in all, JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson's performance was enough to land them tied for first place with Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach's Us-themed dance, with both scoring 40s. 

The Miz And Witney Carson's Pinhead Pair

Dancing with the Stars had other (such) sights to show fans as well. And while it's not necessarily something new for a pro wrestler to go out in front of screaming fans wearing something outlandish and uncomfortable, it was still awesome to see WWE superstar The Miz breaking out of the puzzle box for his Hellraiser-infused pasa doble with partner Witney Carson.

Both Miz and Witney Carson were in Pinhead mode for their performance, which is solid foreshadowing to the upcoming reboot's female monster. And the headgear assumedly adding an extra layer of difficulty to the dance, since neither one of them could be touched above the neck as they swept the stage during RAIGN's cover of "Wicked Games." I suppose that worked against the team's favor in some ways, as they scored on the low end with a 34. But for someone who's approaching this more as a horror fan than a dance judge, The Miz's semi-stiff movements and facial expressons felt very on point and authentic for a Pinhead portrayal. Had they been straight-up eliminated, it might have been time to call up some other Cenobites to take care of the judge's table. But the beasts can lie in wait...for now.

These two pairs definitely weren't responsible the only awesome-looking Horror Night performances, which is yet another sign of just how talented the costume, makeup and hair departments are on Dancing with the Stars. Sure, you might expect that from the Disney-owned ABC, but those crew members definitely don't get enough credit on the whole for putting things together as quickly as the celeb dancers themselves. Here's hoping DWTS keeps the Horror Night episode within the regular rotation in future seasons.

JoJo Siwa recently made Dancing With the Stars history, as she became part of the show’s first same-sex pairing. She and her pro dance partner, Jenna Johnson, have already been making waves on the ABC hit. Getting her start on Dance Moms, Siwa is no stranger to dance, though even she has to get critiqued from time to time. The singer/dancer is now speaking out about a recent moment between her and judge Derek Hough when it came to scoring.

Week 2 of Dancing With the Stars’ 30th season had JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson do the Cha Cha to Lady GaGa and Ariana Grande’s hit song “Rain On Me.” While many fans thought the dance was great, professional dancer and judge Derek Hough had other opinions. His critique wasn’t so much for the dance, but for Siwa having “too much energy,” which in turn caused the audience to boo at him. In an interview with ET, Siwa revealed a touching moment she had with Hough following the critique:

It must have meant a lot to JoJo Siwa to have gotten that moment with Hough. It’s not always easy taking criticism when it’s about something that’s so natural to you. While she is known for her energetic personality, the dancer has come a long way since Dance Moms and has turned into a true performer. She’s been making headlines this year for her coming out and just recently called Nickelodeon out for not allowing her to perform her new songs on tour. Sometimes it’s good to be energetic and passionate about your craft, or else you’re going nowhere.

JoJo Siwa and and Jenna Johnson’s first dance of the season last week resulted in Johnson getting a knee injury. Though with the energy of this week’s performance, it doesn’t seem to have done much. I can see Siwa and Johnson going far in the competition, maybe even getting the coveted Mirrorball trophy. Hopefully there isn’t any bad blood between Siwa and Derek Hough, but maybe she can take the criticism in stride and motivate her to do even better for Britney Week.

JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson may have made history on the Season 30 premiere of Dancing With the Stars, but the night was memorable for a different — and much more painful — reason for dance veteran Johnson. While the duo's number marked the show’s first dance featuring same-sex partners, Johnson has revealed that she injured her knee during the performance.

The couple performed the Quickstep to Jet’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl,” garnering the top score of the night, despite Jenna Johnson’s noticeable fall. Johnson described the injury to Page Six, saying her knee briefly slipped out of socket.

Yikes, that sounds painful! While the slip-up was actually visible, Jenna Johnson’s recovery was remarkable. JoJo Siwa helped to quickly lift Johnson back to her feet, never losing stride, and Johnson’s smile didn’t falter for even a second. While Johnson said she was upset to distract from Siwa’s historic moment, she felt the Nickelodeon star's response to the fall made her performance even more impressive.

It’s no doubt in that moment Jenna Johnson benefited from having the former Dance Moms star on stage with her. You can check out the performance for yourself below:

Look at all the leg work Jenna Johnson had to do in the seconds following her injury! She is a true professional, and to that end, Johnson isn’t going to let JoJo Siwa down for their next performance. After a little rest and therapy, Johnson said she plans to be on stage again next week.

I just hope Jenna Johnson doesn’t push herself too far and risk further injury. Dancing With the Stars is known for being physically demanding, and even though that’s nothing new for Johnson, the publicity surrounding JoJo Siwa’s stint in the competition might add pressure on Johnson to push her physical limits. Here’s hoping the rest of Season 30 will be injury-free for all contestants and pros -- though given past history, that's probably unlikely. Dancing With the Stars returns at 8 p.m. ET Monday on ABC. Dancing with the Stars did something brand new in its Season 30 premiere when pop star JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson took the stage as the competition's first same-sex dance partners. Their debut will undoubtedly be remembered for the positive ways that it made history for the show, but has also gained some attention for perhaps the wrong reasons. While Siwa did well in her DWTS debut, there's certainly an argument that the judges stumbled when they gave her and Johnson the top score of the night.

The dancing duo netted 29 out of 40 points in the final performance of Dancing with the Stars' Season 30 premiere, which just barely gave them the highest score of the premiere. Prior to that moment, Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee and partner Sasha Farber were tied with The Talk's Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten with 28 out of 40 points. JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson edged them out, which some fans felt was weird considering Johnson very clearly fell to her knees during the performance. Despite that, the two still won over the judges, which had some fans feeling a certain way.

The slip wasn't the type of technical misstep that the Dancing with the Stars expert judges tend to catch but viewers from home might miss. Jenna Johnson full-on lost her footing, and would've taken a hard fall to the floor had JoJo Siwa not physically lifted her back up. The judges did make note of the moment, but apparently, didn't penalize it in the way that some fans felt they should've.

The oversight may have been more forgivable in the eyes of some had Suni Lee and Amanda Kloots not given such strong performances earlier in the night. Lee was even noted by Derek Hough and others to have a flawless performance from a technical perspective but was docked points because she lacked the emotion needed for the dance. Some were upset Lee and Kloots were robbed of the top score of the night, but others were just happy to see JoJo Siwa on top.

To be completely fair, one has to look at JoJo Siwa's performance with a bit of understanding. After all, it was Jenna Johnson that made a mistake, not Siwa, and should the contestant be penalized when their professional dance partner has an error? Additionally, Siwa managed to help her partner out without even missing a beat in the performance, which does deserve some credit. Perhaps not enough for top honors of the night, but I'd still rank her first Dancing with the Stars performance in the Top 3 of the evening. Then again, she has been dancing since she was a little kid, so perhaps that could be considered as well?

It's the Dancing with the Stars Season 30 premiere, so who knows what other moments could overshadow this moment down the stretch? For now, though, fans are going to talk about the slip-up during JoJo Siwa's dancing debut and question whether or not she received a bit of an unfair score to get her season off to a great start.
