Apparently, Jon Hamm is going to be missing out on recognition from the Emmys. That's because the actor, who's been nominated for 15 Emmy awards of the course of his career, could potentially be completely shut out at the awards show this year due to an error by Apple TV. Hamm was submitted this year for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, though it turns out he is actually disqualified from competing in that category this year and therefore, will not be recognized for his performance in Season 4 of The Morning Show. Let's talk out the specifics of this, shall we?

Per reporting from Variety, in 2025, the Emmy committee passed a rule that prevents actors that were previously nominated in lead and supporting categories from competing as a guest performer. Hamm had already been nominated for his work in previous seasons of The Morning Show in the Supporting Actor category, therefore he would not be able to be nominated as a guest performer. This is despite the fact that Hamm only made a short appearance as Paul Marks on the drama series this past season.

It is important to note that this rule only comes into play if an actor has already been nominated for an Emmy for the same show. This is why Bryan Cranston was able to win guest performer last year for his hilarious performance in The Studio, despite being nominated and winning the lead actor prize previously for Breaking Bad. The rule also notably allows an actor to be nominated for the same show if they are playing a different character or role. With that, SNL alumni who were nominated for their work as cast members can still be recognized as guest actors if the SNL star returns to the late night show as a host

The whole situation is mighty confusing, so I can understand how Apple would make the mistake of submitting John Hamm for his Morning Show work. Unfortunately, because of the clerical error, Hamm was completely thrown out for his work on the show and can’t be resubmitted for supporting actor to abide by the new Emmy rule. Personally, I think complete disqualification for an error seems a bit silly, but rules are rules.

The good news is this doesn’t mean that Hamm will be shut out from the Emmys all together. He was all over the 2026 TV schedule, and can still be nominated for another Apple show, Your Friends & Neighbors, in which he plays full-time financier and part-time thief Andrew Cooper. Hamm could also be honored for his voice-over performance in the animated show Grimsburg.

All that to say Hamm could still easily add two more nominations to his whooping 15 so far. Hamm also has only one once for his performance in Mad Men, so I’m personally rooting for another win this time around, even if it can’t be for Morning Show.

Your Friends & Neighbors returned for Season 2 on the 2026 TV schedule, and that means we got a whole new batch of episodes that show Jon Hamm’s Coop stealing more luxury and lavish items. Now, as I’ve been watching this show with an Apple TV subscription, I’ve been fascinated by the things Coop decides to take. So, I asked Hamm which items were his favorite to steal in an Ocean’s Eleven kind of way; meanwhile, the showrunner told me how they pick those things.

Jon Hamm Told Me His Favorite Thing To Steal In Your Friends & Neighbors

In Your Friends & Neighbors, we see Coop act like he’s in a great heist movie as he steals everything from watches and paintings to purses, wine and even cash. Season 2 is no different, as Hamm’s character continues his escapades throughout his neighborhood. So, with all that in mind, I asked the Mad Men actor which object he liked stealing the most, and he said:

I totally see what he’s saying. Artwork is a totally different beast, seeing as it can be bigger than other things Coop steals, and it’s housed differently. It’s not in a display case or a drawer, either; it’s framed and on a wall. Therefore, taking it requires different “mechanics,” as Hamm put it.

Now, while that’s his favorite item to steal, the Landman actor also told me his favorite kind of situation Coop can find himself in mid-heist:

When it comes to this great Apple TV show, I’m also here for the close calls. It’s fun to see Coop panic while he’s stealing something, and it allows us to understand the risk involved with his thievery. Along with all that, as Hamm put it, these moments also help Your Friends & Neighbors have “the right balance of fun and whimsy” while it also helps it maintain some “sexiness and darkness.”

Your Friends & Neighbors’ Creator Told Me How They Pick What Coop Steals

Along with finding out which items are the best to steal, I also wanted to know how they pick Coop’s targets. So, while interviewing Your Friends & Neighbors’ creator and showrunner, Jonathan Tropper, I asked how they choose the things Jon Hamm’s character takes. In response, he said:

Tropper made sure to emphasize that they always want Coop to steal new and absurd things. Not only does it make the streaming show more entertaining, but it helps hammer the point of it home, too, as the showrunner explained:

With every item Coop steals, I become aware of how absurdly rich this community is. It also helps me realize what they value and prioritize in life. So, while this thievery is a fun element of the series, it’s also very telling, as it reveals a lot about the cast of characters surrounding Jon Hamm’s leading man.

Now, you better believe I’ll be paying close attention to the things Coop steals in Season 2 after learning all this, and I’ll especially keep an eye out for the paintings, seeing as that’s what Hamm likes to take.

Major spoilers for Season 2 of Your Friends & Neighbors are ahead! Read with caution, and stream the series with an Apple TV subscription.

I always thought James Marsden’s Owen Ashe was like a cockroach in Season 2 of Your Friends & Neighbors, and then that proved to be true in the final episodes, because he wouldn’t die. In the show, Jon Hamm’s Coop and his accomplices wound up killing Ashe not once, but twice. It was quite the brouhaha, so I obviously had to ask the show’s creator why he wanted this character to die more than once.

So, Episode 9 of Your Friends & Neighbors ends with a massive fight that involves Coop, Ashe, Barney and Nick. Ultimately, it ends with Marsden’s character on fire and running down a hallway while shooting at the other guys. After he trips and falls, hitting his head really hard, he is deemed “dead.”

Then, about 15 minutes into the finale that aired on the 2026 TV schedule, we learn that Ashe isn’t dead. He wakes up as the guys are driving to a place to get rid of his body. And what follows is a wild fight in a moving car that ends with said car being driven into a lake. That’s when Ashe actually dies, as he’s left in the water while the others swim away. So, why the fake death and then the real death? Here’s what creator Jonathan Tropper told me:

I do love when characters are really bad criminals, and this show is full of them. Specifically, while Coop is good at stealing, he finds himself in over his head time and time again as he winds up in other illegal or compromising situations. So, he doesn’t handle things like a con-man in a great heist movie would.

No, in this case, he and his friends wound up totally not realizing that Ashe wasn’t dead. This led to the second fight, where he actually died. Explaining the “irony” or all that, Tropper said:

It’s wild twists like this that make Your Friends & Neighbors a great Apple TV show, and it makes me excited to see what happens next. That’s because, while Ashe is really dead this time, he doesn’t seem totally gone. In the final frames of the season, we see a man fishing in a lake where that sunken car is, and I can’t help but wonder if he’s going to catch a dead body.

So, will Ashe continue to haunt Coop and co. from the grave? After two deaths and some wild twists, I certainly think it's possible. Thankfully, we’ll get to find out because the show has been picked up for a third season, and I’m sure it will be full of unpredictable moments like the one that involved James Marsden’s character dying not once, but twice.

The first Top Gun was a massive hit that caused people to hope for a sequel for decades. If the studio had any clue that a sequel would be as successful as it was, somebody probably would have made one a lot sooner than they made Top Gun: Maverick. Of course, if that had happened, Jon Hamm probably wouldn’t have been in it, and that would have robbed us of great moments.

In a recent appearance on Happy Sad Confused, Hamm discussed the first time he met Tom Cruise. It’s a moment that would certainly be life-changing for a lot of regular people, but even Jon Hamm admitted to being a bit starstruck by Cruise, who was apparently quite happy to see the Mad Men star. Cruise was talking to Jon Hamm, and the pair apparently had a conversation with Cruise in full Maverick costume next to a massive American flag. I would think the person having the most bizarre experience here would have been Hamm, who has said he was a massive fan of the first movie and was desperate to be in Maverick, but he thought that making the Top Gun sequel must have been equally crazy for Cruise. The original Top Gun star seemingly hadn’t really thought about it much. Hamm continued…

The way Tom Cruise goes from “pretty wild” to "ready to shoot without taking a breath" certainly shows where the actor’s head was at in that moment. He seemingly wasn’t really thinking much about the fact that he was reprising a role he first played more than three decades before. He was all about the movie he was making in that moment.

It will be interesting to see what sort of conversations these two have if they reunite for Top Gun 3. When asked about the sequel, Hamm said that he thought it was happening. We know that the movie is in development, although its status is unknown at this point. Nobody wants to wait decades to make a third Top Gun movie, and while Tom Cruise still looks great, he certainly doesn’t have 30 more years in him to wait.

James Marsden is having quite the run on both the 2026 TV schedule and the 2026 movie calendar. From the returns of Jury Duty and Paradise to the premieres of Avengers: Doomsday and more, he’s staying very (and I mean very) busy. So, with that in mind, Jon Hamm told me why Your Friends & Neighbors was so lucky to add the Cyclops actor to its cast in Season 2.

Now, to understand why Your Friends & Neighbors needed James Marsden, you need to know about his character, Owen Ashe. He’s a mysterious and very charismatic new addition to the neighborhood, and he’s going to be a problem for Jon Hamm’s character, Coop. I asked the Mad Men actor why his character won’t run away from Ashe, despite his seemingly nefarious vibes, and in response, he said:

This led me to ask Hamm why it was important to have someone like Marsden in the role. It comes down to the fact that while Ashe is a bad guy, he’s also irresistible and very charming. Well, the Paradise actor is undeniably irresistible and charming, as the Your Friends & Neighbors lead told me:

It’s also on display if you take a look at his IMDb and realize just how much he’s releasing this year.

In the last week alone, Marsden's movie Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice became available to stream with a Hulu subscription, while Paradise Season 2 dropped its finale in the same place, and Your Friends & Neighbors premiered on Apple TV. Plus, he executive-produced Jury Duty: Company Retreat, which premiered for those with an Amazon Prime subscription last month. All this is to say, Marsden is a busy bee, and Jon Hamm knows it, as he told me:

Oh yeah, I didn’t even mention the fact that James Marsden will return as Cyclops in the upcoming Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday. However, that won’t be in theaters until December 18. The hype is real for it, though, especially since Marsden is coming back as his iconic X-Men character. So, it does continue to prove Jon Hamm’s point.

Your Friends & Neighbors, Season 2 -April 3 (Apple TV)

While an Apple TV subscription doesn’t give one access to nearly the same volume of original material as other streaming platforms, the level of quality is hard to deny. The first season of Your Friends & Neighbors was something of a surprise hit, leading to a Season 2 renewal. The show sees Jon Hamm as an unemployed hedge fund manager who maintains his lifestyle through theft. Season 1 saw him reject a chance to return to his old life; what his new one has in store, we'll have to wait and see.

Pizza Movie - April 3 (Hulu)

Every generation needs a great stoner comedy, and Pizza Movie, available this week with a Hulu subscription, might just be it for this one. The film stars Stranger Things’ Gaten Matarazzo and Sean Giambrone as college roommates who get high on an unusual and potent new drug, and then discover the only thing that will mellow the effect is pizza, which they’re now far too high to safely obtain.

Merrily We Roll Along - April 4 (Netflix)

Some of the greatest acting performances are found on the Broadway stage, but most of us don’t have an opportunity to see them. Luckily, the Tony Award-winning revival of Merrily We Roll Along was given the professional filming treatment similar to Hamilton and Disney’s Frozen musical. You can check out Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff, and the rest of the incredible cast on Netflix this week.

Audiences are about to take a trip into the minds of the animals when Pixar’s Hoppers hits the 2026 movie calendar. The premise of the upcoming kids movie puts 19-year-old Mabel’s mind inside a robotic beaver in order to communicate with other animals and save their habitat. Critics have screened the movie ahead of its March 6 release, and fans should get excited, because they’re calling it the "best" Pixar offering in years.

Piper Curda is the voice of Mabel Tanaka, and she’s joined by an ensemble cast of recognizable voices, including Jon Hamm as Mayor Jerry, Kathy Najimy, Bobby Moynihan, Dave Franco, and Meryl Streep as Insect Queen to name just a few.

‘Best New Release In A Solid Decade’

Wilson Chapman of IndieWire gives the movie a B+, writing that it’s the “freshest” Pixar product since Turning Red and “the best new release in a solid decade.” It comes at a time when Pixar has lost a bit of its luster. Elio and Elemental felt constrained and formulaic, the critic says, and didn’t take risks, but Hoppers doesn’t have that problem. Chapman says:

This isn't the only critic who thinks there are some unique things happening here.

‘Pixar At Its Best’

Nell Minow of RogerEbert rates Hoppers 4 out of 4, writing that the artists show us the beauty of the natural world through the characters’ eyes and provide a fabulously tactile sense of the plant and water textures. As gorgeous as the animation is, the message of empathy for others is the heart of the film. Minow says:

‘One Of Its Best In Recent Years, And Quite Possibly Its Best This Decade’

Gregory Nussen of ScreenRant rates the upcoming Pixar movie 7 out of 10 saying that if we’re measuring pure fun and humor, Hoppers delivers one of Pixar’s “best in recent years, and quite possibly its best this decade.” Nussen calls the movie “bizarre” and “unhinged by children’s film standards,” resembling Avatar or even the Game of Thrones universe more than the animal kingdom. The critic continues::

The plot resemblance to Avatar is brought up by a lot of critics and even addressed in the Hoppers.

‘A Film You Can Very Easily Imagine Ranking Among The Absolute Best Pixar Movies Ever’

It’s highly unpredictable, flat-out shocking, not afraid to take risks, dark and scary at times, with predictably stunning animation. However, Lussier writes …

‘The Best Pixar Movie Since Coco’

William Bibbiani of The Wrap continues the superlatives by saying this movie is “dam good” and, in fact, is “the best Pixar movie since Coco.” It’s funny, clever, kind, playfully dark and wonderfully weird, the critic says, writing:

These aren’t the only critics singing the praises of Hoppers. The animated flick holds a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer as of this writing. Some of the critics warn that it’s not a perfect movie and that it has moments that are pretty shocking or dark for younger audience members. However, if this sounds like one you need to check out, you can head to theaters starting Friday, March 6.

There are plenty of upcoming 2026 movies to get hyped for this March, and Pixar’s new flick, Hoppers, is definitely one of them. The voice cast of this original animated feature is stacked. Jon Hamm is playing Mayor Jerry, Meryl Streep is the Insect Queen, Dave Franco is voicing her son, Titus, and we'll also hear Vanessa Bayer, Bobby Moynihan, and Piper Curdo, to name a few. Still, one voice in particular will stand out to longtime Pixar fans. There's a moment that practically begs you to shout at the screen, “I know that voice!” It’s Mabel’s mom, voiced by none other than Lori Alan.

Disney Pixar’s new original animated film Hoppers is about a tenacious young woman named Mabel Tanaka who hijacks “hopping” technology that was invented to let humans communicate with wildlife and transfers her consciousness into an animatronic beaver. Determined to save the animals’ homes from human development led by Jon Hamm's Mayor Jerry, Mabel uses the technology to befriend beavers like King George and rally other creatures against the threat to their habitat.

In the film, Mabel has a strong bond with her family, especially her grandmother. While she and her mom do not share much screen time, if you are anything like me, the moment you hear the voice will drive you crazy. I sat there and tried and failed to figure out who was playing Mabel's mom, and even the Internet was not helpful in my pursuit.

So when CinemaBlend had the chance to speak with Hoppers director Daniel Chong during our visit to Pixar Studios, I had to ask him directly who voiced Mabel’s mom. As it turns out, in the world of Pixar, Lori Alan is practically a household name.

The moment Chong said her name, a lightbulb went off in my head. Of course—that’s the voice of Bonnie’s mom from the Toy Story franchise. You can even catch a snippet of her voice in the recently dropped Toy Story 5 trailer (it already has me tearing up). However, that’s not the only Pixar mom Alan has portrayed. She also voices Riley’s mom’s sadness character in Inside Out and Inside Out 2. Producer Nicole Grindle jumped in:

I bet it's kind of fun to be labeled as ‘Pixar’s mom.’ It immediately had me thinking about how many other moms in Pixar that Lori Alan has voiced. Now, excuse me while I go on an Easter egg hunt, and see if I'm missing any other mom's she's played.

To note, Alan is not just known for her voice work in Pixar films. She is probably best recognized as the voice of Pearl Krabs from SpongeBob SquarePants or as Diane Simmons from Family Guy. Gaming fans may also know her as the voice of the Boss in the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

Hopefully, now, when you sit down to watch Hoppers on March 6, you won’t be distracted trying to place Lori Alan’s voice. Instead, you'll be ready to dive into Mabel’s adventure—hopping into beavers, rallying the forest creatures, and taking on Mayor Jerry. This film is full of heart, humor, and surprises that deserve your full attention. Tickets are on sale now at AMC and other theaters.

A major point of discussion in regard to Super Bowl LX has been the NFL’s decision to hire rapper and singer Bad Bunny as the halftime show performer. While there are many who’ve expressed excitement in regard to the Puerto Rican artist performing at the event, there’s been backlash from some who aren’t too pleased. Several celebrities have since lent their support to Bunny, and Jon Hamm can now be added to that list. The fan-favorite actor recently paid tribute to BB and acknowledged the “outrage” surrounding his hiring.

Jon Hamm is apparently a “huge” fan of the “Chambea” performer and has apparently forged a personal relationship with him. (The Mad Men actor even said the music star refers to him as “Jon Jamón.”) Just recently, Hamm penned a message in honor of BB for Air Mail, in which he reflected on seeing the rapper perform live in Puerto Rico. Hamm gushed about the experience, calling it “epic,” before revealing that he’s had a lot of Bunny songs on his Spotify Wrapped list. The Emmy winner then shared these sentiments:

Bad Bunny – whose real name is Benito Ocasio – was confirmed as the headliner for the SB halftime show this past September. Shortly after the announcement, politicians, including U.S. President Donald Trump, blasted the decision to have Ocasio perform. More recently, Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville accused the NFL of being “too woke” by having the “Where She Goes” singer perform. A petition was even started to have Ocasio replaced with George Strait.

Those who’ve expressed opposition to Ocasio’s hiring argue that they would prefer to have someone of American descent. Of course, the Grammy winner – being a citizen of U.S. territory Puerto Rico – is American. NFL players have also weighed in, with some on board for the rapper performing and others not being as keen due to unfamiliarity or a desire for someone else to perform. Some have also taken issue with most of Ocasio’s songs being performed in Spanish. Jon Hamm addressed that critique as well:

As previously alluded to, the Your Friends and Neighbors star isn’t the only person to have supported Bad Bunny during this time. Jennifer Lopez was asked about the brouhaha and showed Bunny love while also acknowledging his status as “one of the top artists in the world right now.” Bunny’s Happy Gilmore 2 co-star, Adam Sandler, also showed love to him after he was selected to perform at the Super Bowl.

It seems likely that there are some who will continue to take issue with Bad Bunny performing at this year’s big game. On the other side of that equation, though, it’s evident that Jon Hamm and a number of others remain in his corner. Check out the Super Bowl LX, which airs this evening, Sunday, February 8, at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Fans can also stream it using a Peacock subscription.

2025 closed out with a pop culture shocker, as Bowen Yang revealed his exit from Saturday Night Live, which had already gone through quite a few casting changes ahead of Season 51. It’s not clear just yet when he’ll return to the 30 Rock studio, or when he’ll be back on the big screen, but fans will 100% see him putting on the RITZ, so to speak, for one of many star-studded ads airing throughout Super Bowl Sunday.

For its first high-dollar Super Bowl commercial airing in 2025, Ritz looped in Aubrey Plaza, Michael Shannon and Bad Bunny, but this time around, the cracker company brought Yang in to join Jon Hamm and Scarlett Johansson on RITZ Island. (Fun facts: Hamm has hosted SNL 4 times, while Scar-Jo has hosted 7 times, and I don’t think either of them have ever visited RITZ island before this.)

Nicole Fischer, director of the food conglomerate Mondelēz International, shared with Little Black Book that the goal with this ad was to bring “new salties, new personalities, a new setting” into the mix, rather than doubling back and trying to spin something else with Bad Bunny & Co. Patricia Ortiz, group creative director for the ad agency MARTIN*, shared this:

Part of me wants to come up with a lightheartedly snarky response to calling RITZ crackers "the great unifier," but I eat a ton of them, and cannot make myself say anything directly negative. Except maybe "it sucks that I'm not chowing down on any right now."

Speaking to the decision to cast this trio of superstars, Nicole Fischer said that those three entertainers were specifically chosen this time around to represent the idea that there isn't only one kind of a RITZ consumer. As she put it:

Bowen Yang does carry quite a few more representational qualities than Hamm and Johansson, as he was born in Australia to Chinese parents before moving to Canada as a young child, and is also a gay man who's been open about the struggles he's faced throughout his life on that front. He's also gone from a no-named Broad City role to Emmy nominations and global stardom in a decade's time.

So if anything, he should be the one hosting parties on RITZ Island in the longer ad seen below, but I guess I can understand why Scarlet Johansson would also be a proper pick.

It's not clear exactly when these RITZ ads filmed, to be able to tell whether or not Yang had already quit SNL, or if it was produced before his final ep as a cast member. Given the ad's existence was only unveiled in late November, it's even harder to gauge.

Fans who don't want to wait for Super Bowl Sunday can always check out Bowen Yang's podcast Las Culturistas, which he co-hosts with Matt Rogers. The comedian will also be in the cast of the upcoming The Cat in the Hat adaptation starring fellow SNL vet Bill Hader.

There’s no shortage of movies to get excited about this year, especially the highly-anticipatedToy Story 5. Yet, in a sea of sequels, the studio is also giving fans something fresh with an original, Pixar's Hoppers. One thing any original film needs, and something Pixar Animation is arguably one of the best at, is compelling characters. Thankfully, Hoppers has these in spades, though the story behind how Jon Hamm came on board in a bigger role is an intriguing one.

In Pixar's upcoming flick Hoppers, we follow a teenage girl named Mabel as she steals experimental hopping technology from her college professors and transfers her consciousness into a robotic beaver (yes, a bit like Avatar) to spend time with the animals living in a shared pond and help save their homes from human development. One of those humans just happens to be Mayor Jerry, played by the aforementioned Jon Hamm.

CinemaBlend was invited to spend the day hopping into this world with its creators at Pixar Studios in Emeryville, California, and we gained insight into the upcoming 2026 movie. Jon Hamm's a big get for an animated movie, but apparently his big role wasn't always a given. Storyboarder and story lead Margaret Spencer, who helped shape the film’s visual narrative, gave us the skinny about the big character switcheroo:

After screening the film at Pixar the night before, I can say one hundred percent: Hoppers needs as much Jerry as it can possibly get. His and Mabel's relationship grows in fun, surprising ways and lands as a perfect mix of comedy and heart, and I am so glad the Mayor had a good campaign manager advocating for him.

Of course, in a 90-minute film, there comes a cut-off point for “more Jerry,” even if you want it. In the trailer, we see the Mayor getting ready in front of a mirror, and Margaret told us that scene could have been much longer:

I have a not-so-secret hope that Pixar turns Jerry Gets Ready For His Big Day into a twenty-minute short now that I know there’s more. As I said, I'll take as much from Jon Hamm as I can get.

Regardless of how much screen time Jon Hamm gets, I’m glad the creative team expanded his role to strengthen Mabel’s journey. The movie also includes Meryl Streep as an insect queen. In addition, some big names like Vanessa Bayer, Bobby Moynihan, Dave Franco, Demetri Martin, Ego Nwodim, and more lent their wings, hands, and paws to bring this original story to life. I hope all this means Hoppers earns a place among Pixar’s best movies.

Happy’s Place Season 2 premiered on the 2025 TV schedule earlier this month, and the series has wasted no time in continuing major storylines that Season 1 set in place. There have been some surprises already, and Melissa Peterman now humorously has some big ideas in mind. Peterman joked about wanting Channing Tatum or Jon Hamm to play a key role in Gabby’s storyline, and I wouldn't mind at all if this happened.

Friday, November 21's episode of Happy’s Place, “Straw Man,” saw Gabby finally choosing a sperm donor. Of course, she initially set out to find a donor last season when she decided to become a mother, with that development even including Reba star Steve Howey. While the man has been selected, Peterman told Us Weekly she has a dream casting for the role and, even though she’s going off of what Gabby would want, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is also wishful thinking on the actress' part:

It would certainly be a dream if Tatum were to play Gabby’s sperm donor, no matter how “out there” the dream may be. Even though she already picked someone, who’s to say that this Luigi guy can’t look like the actor or that Luigi ultimately decided to back out? That being said, Tatum isn't the only one on Peterman’s mind, as she and co-star Pablo Castelblanco also name-dropped Jon Hamm, and I would just love a whole episode devoted to Gabby going through a list of possible donors. As Peterman said:

I don’t care how impossible these ideas sound. The concept of someone like Tatum or Hamm playing Gabby’s sperm donor is too good. Also, both mean are great with comedy and drama, so they would be able to perfectly balance the two when need be. Honestly, I'd watch Hamm and Tatum on the show if they were playing any role -- the man fathering Gabby's child or otherwise. The chances of them showing up feel slim but, hey, we can dream, right?

As a whole, with the sperm donor storyline finally taking shape and Gabby choosing someone, I'd say things are about to get very interesting. The character really took her time in finding the right one, and, at present, she seems quite confident about her selection. I'm incredibly curious about what's to come, and I'm hoping that if Luigi does actually appear, he'll be played by an actor with some impeccable comedic timing.

Season 2 of Happy’s Place just started, meaning there's much more to look forward to. New episodes air on Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, followed by new cheerleading sitcom Stumble. Fans can catch all episodes of the Reba McEntire-led sitcom on Peacock.

The list of famous actors Taylor Sheridan has hired for his shows is long and illustrious, and it includes Demi Moore. However, in Season 1 of Landman, her character, Cami, was barely seen. That’s all about to change, though, because as Season 2 of the oil drama hits the 2025 TV schedule, The Substance star spoke to me about how her character won’t be a “Where’s Wlado” in the upcoming episodes.

After Cami was underused in Landman’s first season, fans made it clear that they wanted more of Demi Moore in this Billy Bob Thornton-led drama. Well, it turns out that was always part of the plan. During an interview for CinemaBlend, I asked the actress what she was told about her character’s arc during her first meeting with Taylor Sheridan. In response, she explained that she knew Cami wouldn’t be in much of Season 1 but would make a splash in Season 2. She told me:

I figured this would be the case. I had assumed they wouldn’t have hired Demi Moore to play Cami if there wasn’t a bigger story planned for her. However, seeing very little of her in Season 1 as she was earning a lot of praise for her Oscar-nominated role in The Substance emphasized the question about why Cami wasn’t a bigger player in Landman, considering the stature of the actress playing her.

It sounds like the plan for her character will really kick into high gear, though, during Season 2. Following the death of Jon Hamm’s character, Monty, Cami is set to play a bigger role in M*Tex, and I’m excited to see her interact more with Tommy Norris, Billy Bob Thornton’s character. Moore told me that her character will be doing that too, as she continued to recall that first conversation she had with Landman’s co-creator:

In Season 2, we’ll get to see Tommy and Cami pick up the pieces that were left after Monty’s death. As the trailers show us, the fallout will be rough as they fight for the “success” Moore’s character is after. It also feels like there’s trouble brewing between Cami and Tommy, as they are clearly working to figure out who has the most power in this situation.

So, yeah, I’d say Demi Moore has a much larger role to play in Season 2 of Landman, and I’m very excited that she won’t be like a “Where’s Waldo” this season. Based on these comments and what we’ve seen so far, it seems like she’ll be front and center, which I’m sure will make fans happy.

While Jon Hamm isn’t going to be in theaters this year, the 2026 movie schedule sees the man returning in the Disney/Pixar adventure Hoppers. Which, coincidentally, ties into a story that he recently told about meeting one of his acting heroes through a movie project from a couple years ago. You see, not only is this film technically now part of the Disney library, but I have a wild pitch about how our Mad Men icon could reunite with this icon.

Jon Hamm’s ‘Bucket List Moment’ With Bad Time At The El Royale’s Jeff Bridges

Much like that story about Hamm’s “threats” to land Top Gun: Maverick, I can definitely relate to how he was star struck working with Jeff Bridges. Recalling the experience in an interview with W Magazine, Jon Hamm explained why this was such a big deal in his specific case:

To meet Jeff Bridges would be pretty damned awesome, and surely one of the only ways to beat that is to get to work with the man. But for a movie like writer/director Drew Goddard’s overlooked 2018 neo-noir firecracker to be the project to make it all happen is the cherry on top. While these two titans of charisma are only part of an overall ensemble that keeps aging like fine blockbuster wine, they aren't the focus of the piece. But since we're talking about Jon Hamm and Jeff Bridges, I think I have just the movie they should re-team on.

I Think Jon Hamm Needs To Enter The World Of Tron

Now I know we have got a new trip to The Grid already on the books, but Tron: Ares’ cast doesn’t include Jon Hamm. Which is not a bad thing, because the movie already looks pretty fantastic, and I’m still hyped to see it this October. However, if this latest entry in the Encom legacy becomes the box office hit Disney’s looking for, there could be room for sequels.

If there is another Tron, not only would I want to see Jeff Bridges return, I think Mr. Hamm would make a perfect Program. Which is a notion that piggy backs off of my previous thought that our Your Friends and Neighbors’ lead would have been a perfect Terminator villain.

The source of such thoughts is, surprisingly, Jon Hamm’s villainous role from 2017’s surprise hit Baby Driver. If you haven’t seen that Edgar Wright action hit for yourself, beware spoilers:

Pitting that vicious resolve against Jeff Bridges’ wise Kevin Flynn, or a party that’s loyal to his cause, would be a dream. Plus, it'd give Jon Hamm more of a chance to branch out further in the sci-fi realm. Since both men are still working in the Disney family at the moment, it wouldn’t be all that hard. Then again, this much-sought-after reunion doesn’t need to be a Tron project.

So long as Bridges and Hamm are re-teamed on some sort of project, I think we’d be cooking with gas for sure. But at the moment, there’s no clear path for how or when that could happen. In the meantime, go watch Bad Times at the El Royale. one of CinemaBlend's best movies of 2018. Or do I need to write another think piece about why it’s worth your time?

It doesn’t matter if you’re an aspiring actor or an award-nominated notable; when the right opportunity comes along, you’re going to fight for it. We’ve seen that mentality at work with Scarlett Johansson and her role in Jurassic World Rebirth on the 2025 movie schedule, and that’s part of what makes that film so hotly anticipated. However, after reading Jon Hamm’s playful threat to his agents over him being considered for Top Gun: Maverick, I really hope Tom Cruise’s possible Maverick sequel keeps this madman in mind.

Through an interview with GQ to promote his new series Your Friends & Neighbors, the man who played Vice Admiral Beau "Cyclone" Simpson admits he knew his Top Gun character didn't have a huge role to play going in. But that didn’t stop him from explaining to his reps why he was so adamant on landing the gig:

I love a good “threaten your agents, but not in a horrific or scarring way” sort of story, and this tale not only qualifies, but I’d pitch that it belongs on the list of Jon Hamm’s funniest movie and TV quotes. After reading the story above, I’m of course reminded of Paul Giamatti’s ‘threats’ over Planet of the Apes, as he really wanted to wear prosthetics and play an ape in his favorite franchise.

Sometimes the opportunities that other actors may find cumbersome or minor turn out to be the ones that people like Jon Hamm would scramble to get. And to the man’s point, Vice Admiral Simpson is a rather effective foil to Tom Cruise’s Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. If 14-year-old Jon could see himself years in the future, dressing down his hero on the big screen, I’d say he’d be thrilled.

Then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mr. Hamm is still using a Paramount+ subscription to revisit his moments in Top Gun: Maverick, marveling at how a dream became a reality. That pride may make negotiations for another appearance a bit more complicated, because if there’s anything a hardcore fan wants more than to appear in their favorite franchise, it’s probably to become a fixture for future fans to enjoy.

Jon Hamm’s debut on one of the best sketch comedy series, SNL, back in 2008 had plenty of memorable moments. Known for leading the cast of Mad Men, he of course brought Don Draper into the mix, giving outdated seduction advice and ran an "A-Holes: Pitch Meeting" in another sketch. As part of your 2025 TV schedule, Hamm returned as host for his fourth time in April. As for memorable behind-the-scenes moments from his first stint more than 15 years ago, Amy Poehler recalls going from “crying to laughing so hard” thanks to Jon Hamm's comments on SNL after she received tragic news.

When Jon Hamm first hosted SNL (which is streaming on your Peacock subscription), he remembered being “scared” before going live, reminding himself not to trip. While the Bridesmaids actor had his share of worries, so did his future Parks and Rec co-star Amy Poehler the day before Hamm’s episode. She recalled on her podcast, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, about her plan to perform on the live sketch comedy on Saturday and then give birth to her son, Archie, the next day. However, the comedy actress received tragic news during rehearsals:

I can’t imagine how terrible that must have felt. One minute you’re having a good time with your Saturday Night Live cast, and then the next, you discover the OB-GYN expected to deliver your baby in just a couple of days had passed away. I’m sure it must have been really difficult for the SNL cast and crew to see Amy Poehler crying her eyes out over the unfortunate news she got. However, it was really sweet of everyone to come to her aid to see what was going on. If Amy Poehler had to receive sad news, there was one benefit of that happening on the set of a comedy series. Host Jon Hamm had an unconventional method of comforting the Baby Mama actress:

I love that! It’s like Jon Hamm was channeling Don Draper energy to focus her worries on something else: the Emmy Award winner’s SNL debut. Hamm may have been known at the time for his dramatic role in Mad Men, but he proved right there that comedy is a good home for him. Laughter really was the best medicine for Amy Poehler. She continued to talk about what a huge help Jon Hamm was to her:

Who would have thought that making someone laugh to the point of tears would lead to an early birth? I guess Archie has to thank Jon Hamm for making his mother laugh her way into labor sooner than expected.

Jon Hamm is one of SNL’s best hosts, not only for giving his comedy A game live from New York, but for making Amy Poehler go from sad tears to happy tears. Finding out your OB-GYN passed away days before your due date could have stayed a tragic moment, but the Black Mirror actor instead worked his magic to find a way to make his co-star laugh again. That’s a team player right there!

Few showrunners have ever faced what Shawn Ryan did in the past few years while heading up CBS’ S.W.A.T. The drama was first officially canceled back in 2022, then was renewed for a “final” season, only for that decision to be reversed, eventually leading to the third cancellation announcement in March 2025. Here’s hoping that won’t be a pattern on everything he works on in the future, especially now that he’s landed quite a major follow-up project.

Also a co-creator on Netflix’s spy thriller The Night Agent, which will deliver Season 3 faster than expected to fans with Netflix subscriptions, Ryan is now heading up the new streaming series American Hostage. After working with the ever-studly and talented Shemar Moore for the past eight years, he’ll now have the — [checks notes] — also ever-studly and talented Jon Hamm slotted in for a lead role. At least for one season, as this project will utilize a high-octane anthology format.

American Hostage, which Ryan co-created alongside fellow Mad Dogs creative Eileen Myers (Big Love), is based on the hit scripted podcast of the same name, which also features Hamm in the lead role of Fred Heckman. The story being told is a dramatization of the real-life 1977 incident where the financially strapped Tony Kiritsis kidnapped his mortgage broker Richard O. Hall and held him hostage, under the belief that he was being set up.

The streaming service MGM+ snatched up the rights to American Hostage, which first went into development with Ryan and Hamm back in November 2023, back when S.W.A.T. Season 8 was still just a pipe dream. And it sounds like the platform's head honcho is excited to bring this story to life, saying:

Sadly, this series won't be set up in time to make it an upcoming 2025 TV show, and it'll likely debut somewhere around mid-2026, though that's just speculating. The plan is for production to kick off this fall in Winnipeg, Canada.

I was hoping that this official announcement would confirm more cast members joining Jon Hamm for the new show. The podcast co-starred the always excellent Carla Gugino, Dylan Baker, and Joseph Perrino, and each would be equally great in live-action, but scheduling is obviously a factor that would make or break such returns.

But I can't imagine that anyone would balk at co-starring with Jon Hamm in a new streaming show if time allowed. He recently co-starred in Taylor Sheridan's Landman opposite Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore, but that show's Season 1 finale kind of took his character out of the equation, thus allowing the actor to jump into a new leading role.

With news also breaking the same day about Bill Hader potentially heading up a new drama series based on the Jonestown tragedy, there's no end in sight to high-profile true crime cases. I wonder if that's where Shemar Moore will pop up next...

It’s not often that a television show can claim to have five whole decades of entertainment under its theoretical belt, which is why when Saturday Night Live recently celebrated its 50th season it was a massive occasion. The one/two punch of the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert and the SNL50 Anniversary Show two nights later served as star-studded tributes to the amazing sketch series, with the concert seeing a front row appearance by soon-to-be-four-time SNL host, Jon Hamm. The star was seated next to someone who went viral because no one recognized him, and his story is way better than I would have imagined.

What Did Jon Hamm Say About The Guy Sitting Next To Him At The SNL50 Concert?

If you’re like most people, you sat in your comfy clothes on your couch and did maybe the most celeb-watching you’ll be able to do on the 2025 TV schedule by checking out the weekend of SNL50 celebrations in mid-February. Your Friends & Neighbors (which you can watch with an Apple TV+ subscription) star Jon Hamm was in attendance, but one of the people sitting next to him for the concert was, well, decidedly non-famous.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Fargo star was asked about the man sitting on his right in the front row, whom Hamm calls “the luckiest person in New York City,” and who was, apparently, a paid seat filler for the event. The actor said:

WOW. Can you imagine? Simply taking a job as a seat filler for a major event like this (which is common for things like awards shows and other extravaganzas where producers don’t want there to be empty seats visible in front rows of the audience whenever famous attendees step out to go to the bathroom/take phone calls/etc…) is one thing. But, ending up with the person you’re filling in for never coming really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Fallon followed up, noting that the man actually went viral for being a regular, non-famous human in the front row of a celeb-filled event:

If becoming famous (however briefly) for not being famous isn’t the most 2025 thing that’s happened so far this year, then I don’t know what is! The host (who turned 50 during the same year as the long-running comedy show that made him famous) showed photos from the event, and you know what I noticed about this guy first and foremost? He’s wearing regular clothes!

That’s right, this was not like the Oscars, where seat fillers have to get all gussied up like the famous people to fit in. Everyone, the Mad Men star included, was in normal duds, so not only did the guy next to him get to attend the whole show, get paid, and sit amongst stars, he also got to do it while being extremely comfortable. What a win! Hamm continued on his seat mate’s unknown status, and said:

Man, alive. “Yeah,” indeed. With this guy’s luck as a seat filler, he should maybe do nothing but that professionally from now on!

Lorne Michaels and Saturday Night Live have hosted some of the biggest names in Hollywood since its 1975 inception. And for that reason, he’s the next on the list of scheduled hosts and musical guests for SNL’s big 50th season (along with the April 11 premiere of his Apple drama).

Hamm jumped in to agree with the Four Seasons series creator, restating simply that it’s not great to work with people who aren’t easygoing.

It’s great to hear that their time together on 30 Rock was as fun as it looked, and just bolsters the reasons why the show remains one of the best sitcoms. Fey elaborated, revealing it’s a non-negotiable preference because it’s more important to enjoy what you can:

It’s great that both stars have continued to grow over the years, and each of them has worked that boundary into their careers. It may be more apparent in Fey’s resume, which next includes her upcoming Four Seasons show (which will be watchable with a Netflix subscription). Steve Carrell, Colman Domingo, and Will Forte seem like dream casting. But finding out that she and a handful of other 30 Rock alums are behind the coming Tracy Morgan/Daniel Radcliffe project really speaks to her process.

I wonder how Jon Hamm feels to have had the early stamp of approval from Fey and Michaels. Surely he was pleased, especially since he passed the aforementioned duo's "Make sure you weren’t a dick" test.

On The Tonight Show, when gathering words and phrases for a game of "Mad Libs Theatre," Jimmy Fallon asks Jon Hamm to give him a childhood birthday wish. As he gives his answer, he glares enviously at fellow guest Keri Russell, who was in 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

When I learned about Landman, I was blown away by the cast, with Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm and Demi Moore standing out as the big names I couldn’t wait to see on screen. So, you can imagine my disappointment when the actress on that list was barely used. I wasn’t the only one feeling this way either, many were shocked by Moore’s lack of screentime. However, now, the co-creator of this Texas-set show has opened up about her role and the fans' response to her character Cami in Season 1.

As Landman ran through the end of 2024 and into the 2025 TV schedule, I kept wondering week after week if Moore’s character would finally get a big breakout moment. Then, when she landed on the 2025 Golden Globe winner’s list for her role in The Substance, it put an exclamation point on this concern, because this actress is having a moment and it’s baffling that she didn’t play a bigger role in this show.

Thankfully, the show’s co-creator and executive producer, Christian Wallace, addressed this and Cami’s future during an interview with TV Line, saying:

For basically all of Season 1, Moore was simply playing Monty’s wife. We saw her at a track meet in the pool and eventually mourning her husband. However, at no point, did she ever really get her own storyline. That’s wild, especially because DEMI MOORE is playing the part.

However, it feels like they have something cooking for her. If Landman gets a second season, it seems like that’s when the Ghost actress could really shine. With Jon Hamm's Monty dead, there’s a lot of shifting going on within MTex’s hierarchy, and I feel like Cami will play a part in that, as Wallace alluded. Basically, I want to see her making a big play for power or taking control of the company and delivering monologues that make me love her like I love Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy.

Wallace spoke to that idea as well, saying:

Notably, Landman's reviews pointed out its representation of women as an issue, and I agree. In the case of Cami, she was deeply underutilized and there wasn’t much dimension to her character. I really only know that she’s Monty’s wife and has a past with Tommy. However, if Wallace’s point comes to fruition in Season 2, that could change.

I want to see Moore being a power player on this show, and it seems like they might be setting her up to be. So, here’s hoping that if we get more Landman it also means we get more Cami.

However, for the time being, you can go back and watch Landman with a Paramount+ subscription and start theorizing about how they could update Demi Moore’s part to make her a major character in this epic drama.

One of the funniest 2024 movies that has come out lately is Sweethearts, which has Kiernan Shipka going on some hilarious college debauchery with co-stars Nico Hiraga and Caleb Hearon. When CinemaBlend spoke to the 25-year-old about her history with being funny, she sweetly recalled how being part of the Mad Men cast was a huge influence on her.

While it’ll be a decade next year since the Mad Men ending wrapped up the award-winning drama after seven seasons, Kiernan Shipka isn’t soon forgetting her experience on the AMC series. As the actress shared in our interview:

Few actors can say they literally grew up with Jon Hamm, but considering Kiernan Shipka started working with the actor when she was seven, she has the honor. While the series tackled some serious topics from the 1960s, fans of the actor know he’s a rather hilarious talent and Shipka feels like she learned from him over the years. As she continued:

While Mad Men was always racking up the Emmys for being a drama series, Shipka said that behind the scenes, there was a lot of levity on set. Throughout the show, the actress played Sally Draper, the eldest child of Jon Hamm’s Don Draper. While she started off having a rather small role, from Season 3 onward Kiernan Shipka held her own alongside her co-stars. Sally dealt with quite a lot as Don and Betty went through a divorce, and and she stepped up as a maternal figure for her younger siblings when her mom was diagnosed with cancer later in the show.

Given her words about the Mad Men cast, is it any wonder that Kiernan Shipka is hilarious in Sweethearts? The actress also shared that she was involved in improv in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois, which helped in growing her funny bone as well. In the new comedy, which is currently streaming for those with a Max subscription, Shipka plays a college freshman who plots alongside her best friend (Hiraga) to break up with their long distance high school partners in order to fully enjoy their new era of freedom.

As they return to their hometown to hatch their joint plan, their other friend Palmer experiences a powerful coming out message that Caleb Hearon talked to us about. Jon Hamm is no stranger to Saturday Night Live, and although he’s only a member of the "thrice-timers club," (his words), he’s shown up plenty over the years for special cameos. Beyond the late-night sketch show, he’s been essentially everywhere since his breakout role in Mad Men. With all of his success, including major titles on the 2024 TV schedule and the 2024 movie schedule, it’s surprising to hear hosting SNL for the first time ever scared him. That is until the Landman actor realized two words that helped the experience transform it into something more positive.

Hamm has had a lot of success in terms of trying new projects and genres in his career, including Tina Fey’s 2024 Mean Girls. You’d think the Fargo star is fearless. And while that may be the case for him today, it wasn’t always that way. Specifically, his first time hosting the legendary late-night show, which is in its 50th season and as star-studded as ever.

The Morning Show alum shared his first hosting night memory of the quick scare moment leading to the live show while on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. He recounted it as completely overwhelming:

Right at the wire is the absolute perfect time to pull it together, and Hamm delivered for the viewers that night. I can’t even imagine being in that moment, delivering a monologue, and then helping deliver a live sketch show, so I’m glad the Fletch alum pulled it together.

Hamm shared that his perspective change in regards to hosting made all the difference. He said:

It’s great to hear that he was able to give himself such sage advice on his first hosting night. And he isn’t wrong – even just as a viewer, the fifty-year-old show seems exactly like a rollercoaster ride you need to hang onto the entire time. Not everyone is so lucky to regulate themselves before heading into the live 8H Studio. Hopefully, we’ll see him join the four-timers sooner than later and take the duties on with ease.

It is possible since he has had multiple nods from his work on FX’s Fargo and Apple+’s The Morning Show, not to mention he’ll be a regular on the 2025 TV schedule. Time will tell when we next see Hamm on SNL again. I’m just glad his advice squashed a lot of his nerves so he could enjoy his first time hosting on the sketch show.

They turn out to be correct when he reveals he wanted to make sure he was still one of the most desired Hollywood Chris' and the most desired Hemsworth.

Your Mom Talks To Megan Fox (Megan Fox)

One sketch from Megan Fox's sole hosting gig from SNL Season 35 sees the star of the Transformers movies appear as herself waiting for a friend of hers to get ready for a night out. During that time, she chats with Kristen Wiig as the friend's mother while she does laundry and has some eye-opening life advice to offer the actor.

I'm Just Pete (Pete Davidson)

For his return to Studio 8H as a host, Pete Davidson welcomed the opportunity to poke fun at his post-SNL career and personal life, most notably with a music video that quickly became one of the most popular sketches of Season 49. Set to the tune of the Oscar-nominated song "I'm Just Ken" from Barbie, the comedian channels Ryan Gosling's portrayal of the iconic doll (and dons his hairstyle) for a hilariously self-effacing ballad with blockbuster-level production design.

Little Focker Film Fan (Robert De Niro)

On his third appearance on SNL as a host, Robert De Niro stars in a sketch taking place on the set of 2010's Little Fockers, where meets a young boy named Keith (Bobby Moynihan) who is extremely excited by everything he sees, except for the two-time Academy Award winner. He even ribs De Niro for a few of his career misfires but, of course, goes crazy over receiving a page of the script, meeting a makeup artist, and when Ben Stiller, also playing himself, appears.

Why is Benedict Cumberbatch Hot? (Benedict Cumberbatch)

Everyone in this sketch, stars as themselves, including Beck Bennett, who sets up a game show in an attempt to understand why people find the night's host, Benedict Cumberbatch, attractive. It gives the Doctor Strange actor a chance to be self-effacing (comparing himself to the likes of a hammerhead shark and Sid the Sloth from the Ice Age movies) before his compliments toward Beck finally lead the SNL star to understand the English actor's appeal.

Meet The Family (Christopher Walken)

Everyone has their own Christopher Walken impression and most of the SNL cast, circa Season 33, had the opportunity to demonstrate their own right in front of the Academy Award winner. They play members of the host's family who reunite with him at a restaurant, discuss highlights of his career, and reminisce about their own lives together.

Friends (Matthew Perry)

Then Friends cast member Matthew Perry appears as Matt LeBlanc's character, Joey Tribbiani, for what starts a typical parody of the hit sitcom. It evolves into something more meta when Colin Quinn walks in as an overly flamboyant caricature of Chandler Bing, causing the host to unhappily break character and derail the whole sketch.

Ryan's Hometown (Ryan Gosling)

In 2015, first-time SNL host Ryan Gosling appeared as himself in a sketch set at a bar in Ontario, Canada, where he is being interviewed for a GQ profile. The interview is interrupted by the Drive star's childhood bully, Trevor (Kyle Mooney), who challenges him to perform a song from Dreamgirls, dance to Cathy Dennis' "Touch Me," and compare their muscular physiques before admitting that he misses the actor's presence.

United Way (Peyton Manning)

One of the funniest SNL sketches featuring a professional athlete is an SNL Digital Short framed as a United Way ad, featuring Peyton Manning spending the day with a group of children. Quickly, it becomes clear that this fictionalized version of the former Denver Broncos quarterback is the farthest thing from a good role model to the world's youth.

Old Lady Gaga (Lady Gaga)

Lady Gaga proved that she was totally game to make fun of herself when she hosted a 2013 SNL episode, which featured an entire sketch dedicated to mocking some of her most famous radio hits and iconic career highlights. It is set in a future where the world has forgotten about the pop star and her older self, desperate to find a fan, calls up her building's superintendent (Kenan Thompson), who at least can recognize "Empress Beyoncé."

Star Trek Convention (William Shatner)

Emmy winner William Shatner owes his career to the Star Trek franchise but you would think he was not so grateful with the way he treats fans in an SNL sketch from 1986. The Captain Kirk actor appears at a convention, where he urges a group of Trekkies to "get a life" instead of obsessing over the sci-fi TV show that he did "as a lark" back in the 1960s.

Hamm & Bublé (Jon Hamm)

After promoting "Jon Hamm's John Ham" in his first SNL hosting gig, Jon Hamm teamed with Michael Bublé (who was that night's musical guest) to introduce a new restaurant that serves pork and champagne. However, the crooner explains in his musical interstitials that he is being held captive by the Mad Men cast member and forced into helping him with this misguided and pun-fueled idea.

Point Blank (Wayne Gretzky)

The legendary Wayne Gretzky appeared as himself in a number of sketches, and proved to have some surprising comedic timing when he hosted SNL in 1989. One of the funniest moments sees the hockey star appears on a talk show that encourages viewers to call in to ask the guest something but none of the questions have anything to do with him or with hockey and are all people seeking advice for something obscure.

Easter Candy (Michael Keaton)

In 2015, Oscar nominee Michael Keaton appeared as a flamboyant, blonde-haired gentleman showing off the contents of his Easter basket, with help from Kate McKinnon as the seemingly imbalanced Portia. It is not until the very end of the deeply bizarre sketch that we discover the Batman actor has been portraying a highly fictionalized version of himself the whole time.

Bill Swerski's Super Fans (Michael Jordan)

NBA legend Michael Jordan plays himself in a few sketches from his sole hosting gig from 1991. One of the most essential highlights sees the Space Jam cast leader join the hosts of Bill Swerski's Super Fans in a cheer for his fellow Chicago Bulls while wearing hula skirts.

Steve Martin Wants More Money (Steve Martin)

When Five-Timers Club member Steve Martin returned to SNL for his then-record-breaking 14th hosting gig, the comedian starred in a sketch set backstage, where he demanded Lorne Michaels a pay raise. However, the producer insists that he go on or he could be replaced with the one person who was closest to matching his record at the time: Alec Baldwin.

Investigation Discovery Presents: White People Problems (Charles Barkley)

In one of the few SNL sketches starring Charles Barkley as himself with no relation to basketball, he is seen hosting a true crime docuseries. However, instead of covering murders or kidnappings, Investigation Discovery Presents: White People Problems discusses instances of caucasian people reacting angrily to situations that seem completely blown out of proportion to the Black people involved.

Chris' Bedtime Story (George Foreman)

In Season 20, George Foreman starred in a backstage-set sketch in which one-season SNL cast member Chris Elliott asks the host to read him a bedtime story so he can take a nap in his dressing room. We imagine that, if anyone else demanded such a request from the boxing champ in real life, it might not end well for them.

Elton John And The Royal Wedding (Elton John)

Most of the sketches from host Elton John's 2010 episode see the Grammy winner playing himself. One of the best SNL sketches featuring the musician sees him visiting the Royal Family, who reveal their nasty, conniving true selves to him behind closed doors.

Brian Diaries (Brian Williams)

A non-actor who still nailed it as an SNL host is Brian Williams, who actually portrayed several original characters throughout the show. However, the former NBC Nightly News anchor did play himself in a Digital Short offering an exaggerated account of his daily routine, which includes receiving a motivational message from Bono (also appearing as himself) while meditating.

Read To Achieve (LeBron James)

LeBron James made his true acting debut hosting SNL before portraying himself in Trainwreck convinced audiences he had talent off the basketball court. He also stars as himself in one sketch in which his attempts to film a PSA are repeatedly interrupted by an obnoxious PA (Jason Sudeikis) who cannot seem to throw the ball at the athlete correctly.

Garth Brooks Backstage With Tracy (Garth Brooks)

During his second hosting gig, Garth Brooks appeared in an SNL sketch taking place backstage at Studio 8H, where cast member Tracy Morgan voices his disparaging opinion of that night's musical guest, Chris Gaines. What the country music star does not disclose to the comedian is the fact that he and the rock singer are actually the same person.

Sugar-Frosted Anabolic Steroids (Fran Tarkenton)

SNL has poked fun at how professional athletes often endorse products on many occasions, such as when John Belushi played himself in an ad for a breakfast cereal that was literally chocolate donuts. In the 1970s, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton tried his hand at the topic with a sketch that sees him endorse a cereal that is literally just performance-enhancing drugs.

Fernando's Hideaway (Mr. T And Hulk Hogan)

When actors/professional wrestlers Mr. T and Hulk Hogan hosted SNL together in the 1980s, they mostly appeared as themselves throughout the show. The most esteemed highlight sees them as guests on a recurring talk show bit hosted by Billy Crystal as Fernando Lamas, who goes off script to acknowledge the Hulkster's bouncing pecs when he accidentally laughs in the middle of the segment.

Marvin PSA/Knockouts (Marvin Hagler)

No one through a knockout punch quite like Marvelous Marvin Hagler in his day, which served as the inspiration for a bit from his SNL hosting gig. He appears in a PSA to help prepare people for if and when they might be forced to oppose him in the ring.

Boston Teens: Ski Lift (Jonny Moseley)

Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Dratch used to star in a recurring SNL sketch as stereotypical Boston teenagers Pat Sullivan and Denise McKenna. One edition saw them share a ski life with Olympic Gold medalist Jonny Moseley, who acts as a referee when the couple gets into an argument.

Finnish Talk Show (Katy Perry)

Katy Perry's second time on SNL was also her first time serving as a host, during which she starred in a sketch in which the pop star appears on a talk show from Finland. She soon discovers that the host (played by Kristen Wiig) has employed an unusually thorough research team, allowing her to have a clip ready to fun for literally any topic that comes up.

Football Liar (Walter Payton)

One of Jon Lovitz's most popular recurring characters on SNL was the habitually dishonest Tommy Flanagan. One sketch sees him run into Chicago Bears running back (and that night's host) Walter Payton who ends up being just as big a liar as he is.

Sports Beat (Nancy Kerrigan)

After suffering an infamous attack which was later dramatized in 2017's I, Tonya, Nancy Kerrigan proved she had a sense of humor about it when she hosted SNL. One sketch sees the figure skater appearing on a talk show with other Olympians who endured much worse injuries than she did but would receive far less favorable treatment.

Tommy Flanagan: Drinking With The Jaggers Cold Open (Jerry Hall)

Tommy Flanagan talks up model Jerry Hall and tries to convince her that he personally knows Mick Jagger. It seems that the facade is compromised when the Batman 1989 cast member's boyfriend, the Rolling Stones frontman himself, appears but he ends up using the pathological liar as an excuse for his absence a previous weekend.

Michael Phelps Diet (Michael Phelps)

Like any committed athlete, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps consumes a high-calorie diet for the purpose of burning off those calories during practice in the pool. When Transformers One hits the 2024 movie schedule in September, fans of the robots in disguise will see how Orion Pax and D-16 went from brothers-in-arms to the archenemies we know as Optimus Prime and Megatron. The prequel is the franchise’s first animated theatrical release since 1986, and while we still have a couple of months to wait — Transformers One’s release date is September 20 — the sci-fi action movie is already making quite a splash, as those who caught an early screening are taking to social media with their first reactions.

When it premiered at Annecy Film Festival in June, Transformers One earned a huge standing ovation for Chris Hemsworth and the rest of its star-studded cast, which includes Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key and Jon Hamm. The anticipation for this origin story is only going to get more intense after reading what others have to say, too, as Gizmodo’s Germain Lussier seems to have left his screening one happy Transformers fan. The critic posted:

The mere fact that Transformers One is being screened so far ahead of its release date speaks to the confidence Paramount Pictures has in what director Josh Cooley and his team have created. Steven Weintraub of Collider says as much, tweeting:

Liam Crowley of ComicBook.com agrees, praising the cast and assuring those who have complained about the franchise's movies spending “too much time with humans” won’t have to worry about that in this Autobot-centric story. Crowley continues:

While the above critic says Keegan-Michael Key steals the show as Bumblebee, for Perri Nemiroff, it’s Brian Tyree Henry who’s driving the story’s emotional beats. Nemiroff calls Transformers One a “winner,” lauding the animation style and writing:

Some fans were taken aback by the comedy in the trailer, and after director Josh Cooley promised there was “real danger” in the story, the early moviegoers seem to agree the trailer doesn’t quite capture everything that’s great about Transformers One. Matt Neglia of Next Best Picture says:

We’ll have to wait until after its September 20 release date to see where Transformers One falls in the ranking of the Transformers movies, but the first reactions are pretty promising!

Fans of Bradley Jackson and Alex Levy have quite a wait ahead of them before The Morning Show Season 4 premieres. In fact, the series isn’t likely to return in time to be included on the 2024 TV schedule. But as we check out the other upcoming shows on Apple TV+ in the meantime, Reese Witherspoon is finding ways to keep us hyped for more. The Morning Show’s executive producer and star shared some new behind-the-scenes pics, and not only am I missing that delicious drama, she’s got me desperate to see her and Jennifer Aniston in more scenes together next season.

Reese Witherspoon posted several photos from the set of The Morning Show to celebrate the series’ nominations for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards. She posed for photos with multiple of her Season 3 castmates, including Jon Hamm, Billy Crudup, Greta Lee and, of course, Jennifer Aniston. Could those two possibly be any more stunning? Take a look at her Instagram post below: 

Tensions are almost always high between the characters on the workplace drama, but not so much for the actors. Does anybody look happier to be there than Reese Witherspoon? She also continued to prove that red is her color, as she paired a maroon button-down with matching slacks in a couple of photos with her co-workers, and adorned a wine-colored blouse as she cheesed it up with Jon Hamm.

What really struck a chord with me, though, was the picture she took hugging Jennifer Aniston. The actresses posed for the pic on the set of their own fictional morning show, and it made me crave more on-screen moments from the real-life longtime friends. 

Season 3 saw Alex and Bradley on different paths, with the former trying to climb the ladder at UBA whilst getting romantic with tech billionaire Paul Marks (Jon Hamm). Bradley, meanwhile, hit a rough patch romantically with her partner Laura (Julianna Margulies) and professionally when she destroyed evidence from the January 6 insurrection.

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon even addressed fans’ complaints that they didn’t get enough screen time together, explaining that it didn’t make a lot of sense to pop up in each other’s storylines, but I’m really hoping they’ll find a way to make it happen in Season 4.

The Morning Show picked up 16 Emmy nominations, including Best Drama Series, Outstanding Actress (for both Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston), three nods for Supporting Actor and a whopping four nominations in the Supporting Actress category.

The two leading actresses have had a bond on and off screen for decades — ever since Reese Witherspoon rocked “The Rachel” haircut in 1999 and guest-starred a year later on Jennifer Aniston’s sitcom Friends as Rachel’s little sister Jill. These pics really have me hoping we’ll see more of the “Green girls” on screen together on The Morning Show.

Robert Downey Jr. – Iron Man/Tony Stark, Iron Man

Yes, Robert Downey Jr. won an Oscar for Oppenheimer, and yes, he’s well known for roles in other films, like Sherlock Holmes. However, when you single-handedly help successfully start a cinematic universe like the one Marvel has and star in nine of those projects, yes, you are going to be known for playing that character forever.

When I think of Alicia Silverstone, I immediately think of Cher, because she is and always will be best known for her iconic performance in one of the best movies of the ‘90s, Clueless. 

Sigourney Weaver – Ellen Ripley, Alien

Sigourney Weaver changed the sci-fi game when she starred in Alien. Ellen Ripley is a magnificent and strong leading woman in this sci-fi horror flick, which in 1979, was not something we saw very often. 

Jim Parsons – Sheldon Cooper, The Big Bang Theory

“Bazinga!” Will always follow Jim Parsons, and that’s because of his tenure playing Sheldon Cooper in the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory. The actor has four Emmys for playing the role, he starred in all 280 episodes of the comedy, and his character even inspired a spinoff, Young Sheldon, which came to an end in 2024 after its own seven-season run. 

Kit Harington – Jon Snow, Game of Thrones

The world was introduced to Kit Harington because of Game of Thrones, and he will always be remembered as the heroic Jon Snow. His role in the GOT cast was vital, and over the years, as we watched him battle it out at The Wall and work toward saving Westeros from winter, it was impossible not to fall for him. Now, while Harington has been in numerous other projects since then, it’s impossible not to think of him as this epic fantasy hero first. 

Emma Watson – Hermione Granger, Harry Potter

These days, Emma Watson doesn’t act anymore, and she’s killing with her gin company Renais. However, she’ll also always be remembered as a wonderful actress who brought life to the beloved witch Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films.

Yes, the cast of Friends all went on to have successful careers after the NBC sitcom. However, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox are best known as Rachel, Ross, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Monica, and they always will be, because they’re the ones with a hit TV show.

While many Marvel actors have become synonymous with their characters, one who really stands out is Chris Hemsworth and Thor. Physically, the Australian actor perfectly embodies the God of Thunder, and throughout his time playing the character he added an unexpected sense of humor to the role – especially post-Thor: Ragnarok – that he’ll be remembered forever for. 

Kristen Stewart – Bella Swan, Twilight

Twilight, the debate about Team Edward vs. Team Jacob and Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan took over the zeitgeist between 2008-2012. To this day, while she’s gone on to star in incredible films like Spencer and Love Lies Bleeding, the role that made her a household name is one of the parts she’ll always be remembered for. 

Heath Ledger – The Joker, The Dark Knight

Heath Ledger is widely regarded as the best Joker, because of his commanding performance as the legendary Batman villain in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. This movie was also one of his last before his untimely death, and he won a posthumous Oscar for his incredible take on the infamous big bad. 

Millie Bobby Brown – Eleven, Stranger Things

Millie Bobby Brown has made quite a few successful films, like the Enola Holmes movies. However, it’s undeniable that the role that will define her career is Eleven in Stranger Things. She was only 12 when she started playing the mysterious super-powered human, and over the course of the show’s five-season run, both she and the ensemble of the Netflix series, have become pop culture icons because of the show. 

William Shatner – Captain Kirk, Star Trek

If you take a look at the four projects listed at the top of William Shatner’s IMDb page, all of them are Star Trek movies where he played Captain Kirk. The man starred in seven films and a long-running TV show as the beloved captain, so of course it’s what he’s best known for. 

Michael J. Fox – Marty McFly, Back to the Future

From Family Ties to Teen Wolf, Michael J. Fox and his shows and movies were ‘80s staples. However, there’s no denying that the project he’ll always be remembered for is Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future. To this day, the project is considered one of the best ‘80s movies, and Fox is still beloved for playing the charismatic, funny and heroic Marty McFly. 

Reese Witherspoon – Elle Woods, Legally Blonde 

In the over two decades since Legally Blonde’s release, so many have been inspired to pursue their dreams and wear lots and lots of pink. That’s because Elle Woods truly left an amazing mark on the zeitgeist, and it’s because of Reese Witherspoon’s heartfelt, funny and preppy performance as the incredible lawyer-in-training. 

As Elle Woods would say, “What like it’s hard” to create one of the best characters and movies of the 2000s? 

Jon Hamm – Don Draper, Mad Men

While Jon Hamm is a wicked comedic actor, and he’s starred in a myriad of fun movies, nothing will ever come close to Mad Men. For 92 episodes, Hamm led the Mad Men cast as Don Draper – which he took an Emmy home for in 2015 – and he’ll always be recognized for playing the charismatic creative director of Sterling Cooper.

Judy Garland – Dorothy, The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz is a film that has raised generations of kids since 1939, and it’s still a family classic. So, when you lead a beloved musical like that, as Judy Garland did, and it remains relevant and loved for over eight decades, obviously, the role you’ll always be known for is that one. 

David Tennant – The Doctor, Doctor Who

While everyone who has played the titular timelord on Doctor Who is known for that role specifically, David Tennant is a fan-favorite Doctor, and it’s single-handedly the project he’s best known for. While he’s dabbled in many other critically acclaimed projects, like Good Omens and Broadchurch, he is and always will be the beloved actor who graced our screens as the Tenth and Fourteenth Doctors first and foremost. 

Anthony Hopkins – Hannibal Lecter, The Silence of the Lambs

Silence of the Lambs is one of the greatest horror movies of all time, and it’s in part thanks to Anthony Hopkins' truly terrifying cannibal Hannibal Lecter. In fact, his character became so popular that it inspired three more movies and a TV show. 

Sarah Jessica Parker – Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City

I’m sure Carrie Bradshaw inspired many women to become writers, and I know she left many of us fantasizing about living out our lives in New York City. Sarah Jessica Parker truly slayed the role, and her own sense of style and charismatic personality meshed perfectly with Carrie. Along with playing the writer in the OG series Sex and the City, SJP has also portrayed her in two movies and the series And Just Like That. 

Emilia Clarke – Daenerys Targaryen, Game of Thrones 

Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, those are all the names Emilia Clarke’s dragon rider went by in Game of Thrones, and she gave an absolutely commanding performance as her. While her ending wasn’t what most wanted, there’s no denying how amazing it was to see Daenerys rise from a woman trying to survive to a powerful leader, and that’s because of how brilliant Clarke was in the role. 

Mark Hamill – Luke Skywalker, Star Wars

He was the face of the original trilogy, and you can’t think about Star Wars without thinking about Mark Hamill and Luke Skywalker. While the actor is well-known for other roles, especially in the world of voice acting, his most prominent part has to be this. 

Gal Gadot – Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman

Sadly, there aren’t many superhero movies led by women. However, luckily, we do have a few wonderful ones, and that includes Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. She played the beloved hero with so much grace, poise and strength, and she’ll 100% always be remembered for it. 

Obviously, while all these actors have played other prominent roles in well-known movies and shows, there’s no question that when we consider their legacies, these parts will be the first ones we think about. They’re that iconic, and we have these performers to thank for them. 

Despite a limited number of seasons and episodes, Black Mirror has, since the beginning, killed it with its casting. The Charlie Brooker-led show has landed some of the biggest stars in the world for episodes and chooses some of the best character actors from both sides of the pond as well. Here are 32 casting examples that prove Black Mirror crushes it. 

Daniel Kaluuya

Before Daniel Kaluuya hit the really big time with break-out roles in Get Out and Black Panther, he had a role in just the second episode of Black Mirror, called "Fifteen Million Merits." Kaluuya played a low-level bike rider looking to escape his boring life by performing in a reality TV show. It's a powerful performance and helped set the tone for the series. 

Hayley Atwell

Season 2 of  Black Mirror started with a bang, with an episode called "Be Right Back" starring Hayley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson in a real mind-bending episode about a couple with a classic Black Mirror twist. 

Jon Hamm

In between Season 1 and Season 2, Black Mirror aired a Christmas special featuring its first big American star, Mad Men's Jon Hamm. It's a super disturbing episode in a ton of ways, not the least of which is just how evil Hamm's character turns out to be. 

Bryce Dallas Howard

Season 3 marked a big change for the show when it moved to Netflix. It also started with a band with the episode "Nosedive" starring Bryce Dallas Howard. It felt a first like a different take on the general premise of Black Mirror, being brighter and seemingly more upbeat. But that didn't last long, of course, and Howard's performance made it all work perfectly. 

Kelly MacDonald

Kelly Mac Donald isn't often the star of her projects but she is consistently excellent in everything she is in. She does star in one episode of Black Mirror, the Season 3 episode "Hated In The Nation" which is the show's take on a police procedural, with  MacDonald playing the main investigator. 

Salma Hayek

There are few stars bigger than the great Salma Hayak and her role in the episode "Joan Is Awful" in the Sixth Season is just perfect. She plays a version of herself, playing the character Joan and her no-BS attitude is just pitch-perfect. 

Jesse Plemons

The first episode of Season 4, "USS Callister" often ranks among the best episodes of Black Mirror, and a big reason why is the performances of the actors in the episode. There is no character more important than manipulative Captain Robert Daly played wonderfully by Jesse Plemons. 

Andrew Scott

Andrew Scott elevates basically everything he is in. Whether it's shows like Sherlock and Fleabag or movies like 1917, he also turns in one of the most memorable performances. Black Mirror is no exception. While the episode he appears in, "Smithereens" isn't well regarded among fans, there's no denying that Scott's performance is excellent and even earned him an Emmy nomination. 

Anthony Mackie

Anthony Mackie has never shied away from playing Gay men, with his first breakout role coming as a Gay art student in the film Brother to Brother. His role in Black Mirror wasn't quite as clear cut, as he played a man clearly struggling with his feelings and identity in the Season 5 episode "Striking Vipers." 

Kate Mara

The Season 6 episode, "Beyond the Sea," is one of the more messed up episodes of Black Mirror and that's really saying something. Kate Mara stars in the show as a woman trapped in the middle of a love triangle by two astronauts, one her husband, and one her suitor. It's a polarizing episode, like many, but there's no question it's as disturbing as the show can get. 

Miley Cyrus

In the final episode of Season 5, Miley Cyrus stars as Ashley O, a pop star not unlike her real-life self. Of all the Black Mirror episodes, it's maybe the least disturbing, but that really makes it underrated, if anything. It still makes the viewer question modern culture and tech, it just doesn't end in tragedy. 

Topher Grace

In Smithereens, Topher Grace plays a Jack Dorsey-type tech CEO who leads a social media company. While the episode is often criticized for its simplistic social commentary, by Black Mirror standards, Grace's performance is actually pretty perfect. All the acting performances are great in this uneven performance. 

Letitia Wright

Letitia Wright had been building a solid career in the U.K. before 2018 when she exploded on the world stage with her appearance in Black Panther. Prior to becoming a big part of the MCU, however, she starred in the Season 4 finale, "Black Museum." It's a fun episode with an almost greatest hits-type vibe, as it's filled with easter eggs to previous episodes. 

Benedict Wong

Benedict Wong has low-key become one of the most popular side characters in the MCU as... well... Wong. The same year he joined the MCU, in 2016's Doctor Strange, he also starred in the Season 3 episode "Hated in the Nation." He has a smaller role in the show compared to some of the other stars (like Kelly MacDonald) but he's great, as he always is in his many roles. 

Aaron Paul

Aaron Paul will likely forever be known first and foremost as Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad. There's nothing wrong with that, but Paul has had an impressive career outside of the legendary AMC show as well. One very notable role came in Season 6 of Black Mirror when he appeared alongside Josh Harnett and Kate Mara in "Beyond the Sea." It wasn't Paul's first appearance on the show, however. He had a quick cameo in "USS Callister" during the show's 4th Season. 

Zazie Beetz

Zazie Beetz hit the big time as a member of the hit show Atlanta starting in 2016. She later gained an even larger fanbase as Domino in Deadpool 2. In 2023, she got to star in an episode of Black Mirror called "Mazey Day" which broke new ground for the show, dipping into the supernatural for the first time. Though it wasn't the most well-received episode of the series, Beetz put together a great performance as a paparazza. 

Josh Harnett

Over the last 25 years, Josh Harnett has quietly put together one of the most underrated careers in Hollywood. He's played all kinds of roles, from heartthrobs to nuclear physicists. Of course, he also appeared as part of the star-studded cast of "Under The Sea" in Season 6. 

Michael Cera

Michael Cera has never been afraid to play ridiculous versions of himself. Most notably, in This Is The End, but also in the Season 6 episode "Joan is Awful." Everyone in the episode is playing some sort of version of themselves and Cera, as the character Beppe is, of course, over the top in his performance and we're here for it. 

Tobias Menzies

As character actors go, they don't get much better than Tobias Menzies. The English actor seems to pop up constantly in "prestige" shows. He was Brutus in HBO's Rome, he was Edmund Tully in Game of Thrones and he won an Emmy for playing Prince Philip in two seasons of The Crown. In the second season of Black Mirror, he played a British politician running for office against an animated bear named Waldo in "The Waldo Moment."

Domhnall Gleeson

Sure, Domhnall Gleeson is part of two of the biggest franchises in film history as a member of the Weasley family in the Harry Potter movies and General Hux in the Star Wars movies, but he's also been one of the best actors around for a couple of decades now. He appeared in the first episode of Season 2, "Be Right Back."

Wyatt Russell

Even though he has two very famous actors as parents, Wyatt Russell originally strived to play professional hockey. When injuries cut his career short, he fell back on acting. Lucky, huh? Still, he's putting together a really nice career, one that includes an appearance in the 2016 episode "Playtest."

Jodie Whittaker

Jodie Whittaker made history when she became the first woman to play The Doctor in three seasons of the modern era of Dr. Who. That wasn't Whittaker's first dabble in  science fiction TV, however, as she appeared in the third-ever episode of Black Mirror called "The Entire History of You." She is excellent in the episode, which ranks tops all-time on quite a few rankings. 

Jerome Flynn

One of the most disturbing episodes of Black Mirror came in its third season. "Shut Up and Dance" is a complicated episode, as viewers are repulsed by the characters, including, most notably, the one played by Game Of Thrones vet Jerome Flynn. Viewers are also taken aback by what those terrible characters have to do. It's a polarizing episode, but that's part of what makes it so great. 

Rory Kinnear

There are two roles that Rory Kinnear is likely most recognized for. One is Bill Tanner in four of the Daniel Craig-era James Bond movies. He's one of the most important characters from the Craig-led Bond films. The second is from the now-legendary premiere episode of Black Mirror called "The National Anthem." His performance as the beleaguered Prime Minister forced to do unspeakable things in the episode is, frankly, legendary.  

Rupert Everett

Rupert Everett has been killing on screen for more than 40 years now and though his role in the second episode of Season 1 is small, he's brilliant. He plays a Simon Cowell-type on a dystopian version of Britain's Got Talent and he, like Cowell, steals the show as a judge. 

Cherry Jones

Season 3's first episode, "Nosedive" is a fantastic episode, and a big reason why is the acting performances, including from Cherry Jones, who appears in only one scene of the show, but it's the pivotal moment in the show. Jones is one of the more underrated character actresses in Hollywood, but she's probably best known for playing President Allison Taylor on 24 and Holly Maddox in two seasons of The Handmaid's Tale. 

Oona Chaplin

Oona Chaplin comes from a family of true film royalty. Her grandfather was the legendary Charlie Chaplin. She's carved out an impressive career as well. She's best known as Talisa Stark, the ill-fated wife of Robb Stark in Game of Thrones, where she was the first death at the infamous Red Wedding. She stars alongside Jon Hamm in the Christmas special of Black Mirror in a smaller role, literally and figuratively, but her performance is sure to freak out everyone who watches.

Jimmi Simpson has been along for most of the ride, as the oddball frenemy to "The Gang" and member of the McPoyle family, Liam McPoyle. He also appeared one of the most star-studded casts of Black Mirror in the "USS Callister."

Annie Murphy

Annie Murphy is most famous for playing Alexis Rose in Schitt's Creek and in 2023 she appeared as a strange version of herself playing "Joan" in "Joan in Awful" alongside Salma Hayek in the sixth season.  

Kirsten Dunst

"USS Callister" has one of the more star-studded casts and one of the stars you may not have even seen, Kirsten Dunst. Dunst's cameo in Black Mirror is truly a blink--and-you-miss-moment in the episode. She appears as a fellow office worker in the show and it's so brief most people missed it. 

Cristin Milioti

The multi-talented Cristin Milioti started her career on the stage on Broadway where she became a Tony-nominated actress, but made her on-screen breakthrough as "The Mother" in How I Met Your Mother. Since then, she's shined in shows like Fargo, The Resort, and The Mindy Project, as well as starring in "USS Callister" in Black Mirror. 

Will Poulter

Will Poulter seems to like showing in prestige TV shows. In addition to starring in the groundbreaking interactive "choose your own adventure" Black Mirror movie called Bandersnatch, he's also shown up in a cameo on The Bear. That's in addition, of course, to his film roles in The Revenant, Midsommar, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3., among many others. 

Whether you know Jon Hamm best from him playing Don Draper in Mad Men or other projects like Baby Driver, Top Gun: Maverick, The Morning Show or Fargo, the man knows his way around various genres. One that he has yet yo contribute to, however, is the world of superheroes, though you certainly won’t have any trouble finding people fan casting him for upcoming Marvel movies and upcoming DC movies. That said, Hamm has now revealed a DC role he had no interest in doing, though I’m hoping he’s still game to join the forthcoming DC Universe franchise being spearheaded by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

In an extensive interview with THR, Hamm mentioned that he continues to have “conversations” with “the guys that run Marvel and DC,” and also clarified that those past talks weren’t anything along the lines of these executives wanting him to play Iron Man (though he did end up voicing that very character in the animated series M.O.D.O.K.). He then said the following when interviewer Lacey Rose asked for confirmation that he’d passed on 2011’s Green Lantern:

Jon Hamm didn’t elaborate on why he turned down Green Lantern, but considering how the movie ended up being a critical and commercial disappointment, missing out on that superhero movie worked out for him. Even Ryan Reynolds, who ended up playing lead protagonist Hal Jordan, has poked fun at Green Lantern numerous times over the years. Maybe Hamm just got a sense that this DC movie wasn’t for him, or maybe he simply wasn’t interested in playing Hal. 

The Good Omens alum went on to say that he’s “pitched” himself for “a couple parts of the Marvel universe,” and that it was “a part of a comic book” that he really liked. Now, would I be disappointed if Jon Hamm turned up in an MCU project? Absolutely not. After all, there was a time when he was in talks to appear as Mister Sinister in The New Mutants. It would be amazing if he could score that same role in the MCU, but there are also plenty of other characters for who he’d be a good fit.

That said, the DC Universe’s Chapter One slate, titled “Gods and Monsters,” has already managed to recruit some notable names, with the Superman cast alone including folks like Rachel Brosnahan, Nathan Fillion, Nicholas Hoult and Wendell Pierce to appear alongside David Corenswet’s version of the Man of Steel. Surely there’s a big role that Hamm could play in this franchise, right? For instance, The Brave and the Bold will presumably feature an older Batman fighting crime with his son Damian, so maybe he could finally get the chance to don the cape and cowl. Or, if Hamm isn’t against the idea of playing Hal Jordan, perhaps he could be cast in the Lanterns TV series that will be available to stream with a Max subscription like the other DCU shows.

For now, there’s nothing concrete that’s been lined up for Jon Hamm, but because these talks with Marvel and DC keep going and he’s so passionate about comic book media, it feels like it’s a matter of when rather than if he’s cast in one of these franchises. I’m personally leaning towards DC, but again, any opportunity to see Hamm leave his stamp on the superhero genre would be welcome.

Inside Out 2 has arrived onto the 2024 movies schedule, and in classic Pixar fashion, the cast is spectacular. Of course, our beloved crew of emotions is still led by Amy Poehler’s Joy, but joining her this time around are big names like Maya Hawke, Tony Hale and Paul Walter Hauser, the latter playing Embarrassment. Hauser is a man of few words in the film, but his character has a lovely arc, and as someone who is now embedded in the Pixar/Inside Out universe, he’s already throwing around casting ideas for the third installment. 

Director Kelsey Mann has been teasing a third Inside Out film, so it’s not too crazy that we're already speculating. When fan-casting with Paul Walter Hauser during my interviews for Inside Out 2, he had a great pitch as to how they’d bring on his RIchard Jewel costar Jon Hamm:

I’m not sure if competition is an emotion, but I definitely see where Hauser is going with this. If you watched any of Jon Hamm’s legendary, award-winning run on Mad Men, you know that his effortless charisma would make for a hilariously cocky and competitive little character taking the controls in Riley’s mind. Paul Walter Hauser also dropped the name of Jon Hamm’s friend Marc Maron, but I think that Lewis Black is already sufficiently filling the role of the lovable curmudgeon with his character, Anger. 

Speaking of Lewis Black, he was also present during the interview, and he had a very different, on-brand take when it came to the hypothetical casting of Inside Out 3:

That dude is hilarious, and both of them are delightful, as you can see in the video clip at the top of this article. 

It’s probably worth noting that only three days after the film’s release, we here at CinemaBlend seem to be giving Inside Out 2 a resounding nod of approval. We’re already writing about easter eggs on the rewatch, boldly claiming that it’s a story about mental health that “everyone needs to see,” and our official Inside Out 2 review gave it a near-perfect 4.5/5 stars. And as you see here, we’re already speculating about Inside Out 3, but hopefully we won’t have to wait another ten years. 

If we do have to wait another decade, we can trust that Jon Hamm will be staying competitive, as he’s not showing any signs of slowing down. He recently starred in the latest seasons of Fargo and The Morning Show, and will be taking on the leading role of Apple TV+’s upcoming showYour Friends and Neighbors.

Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig’s on-screen relationship in the hit movie Bridesmaids left much to be desired within the narrative. However, for audiences, it generated some major laughs. Annie and Ted’s sex scene, in particular, added to the romp’s hilarious hijinks despite its awkwardness. Now, decade after the blockbuster comedy, Hamm has recounted director Paul Feig yelling sex instructions on the set, and this is all kinds of hilarious

The former co-stars reunited for Variety’s Actors on Actors during which they discussed their latest projects, and the 2011 film eventually came up. Having the man who played Don Draper star in the raunchy gross-out comedy was a major coup at the time. Kristen Wiig and John Hamm spoke on first meeting at SNL (with its famous naked quick changes). When Hamm hosted one time, she propositioned him to be in the film despite not having written his part yet. 

From there, the pair talked about their on-screen kiss, which happened on the last day of shooting. The Mad Men star admitted feeling like a fish out of water since “everybody knew each other.” He recalled “everyone just wanted to leave” as he and Wiig goofed around during their sex scene. Wiig disagreed with the Mad Men star before they delved into how the awkward sex scene played out:

HAMM: I definitely felt the last-day energy. And we could not keep it together remotely. It was the dumbest.

WIIG: It was so fun because it was so loose: ‘What if we do this? What if we try this?’

HAMM: And Paul Feig yelling sex instructions. ‘Put her leg over your shoulder!’ ‘OK!’ We’re in naked bodysuits. Dumb and fun. And you and Annie [Mumolo] made one of the best comedies of all time. And you got nominated for an Oscar.

WIIG: And you’re in it. And you made it great. So thanks.

Actors always talk about how awkward filming intimate scenes can be, but this pair’s account sounds a bit more unconventional compared to some of those other stories. Imagine the director yelling out sex positions to the talent. A part of you definitely wants to laugh after hearing this, and another part simply wants to cringe.

As wild as it might sound, the scene was important for the story. The casual relationship between Annie and Ted catalyzed the former’s destructive behavior throughout Bridesmaids. The sex scene is a very memorable moment from one of the best women-led buddy comedies. Feig’s direction -- like the actors' performances -- was invaluable for the film, which is a major reason why it still works after a decade.

Since the comedic classic’s release, the cast has shared multiple behind-the-scenes stories from the set. The director himself even mentioned Bridesmaids’ famous bathroom scene could’ve been wilder. All the hard work, and those various antics, factored into the female-led R-rated comedy becoming a pop culture phenomenon, that grossed over $302 million worldwide and scored several award nominations, including two Academy Awards. So I salute Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig for being total champs and working through the scene for the eventual amusement of viewers.

As moviegoers wait for another romp from Kirsten Wiig and Jon Hamm, the pair have upcoming movie releases on the docket. After Mean Girls and Unfrosted, Hamm will be heard in Transformers One, which arrives in theaters on September 20. Wiig also lends her vocals to Despicable Me 4, which will open in cinemas on July 3.

When it comes to producing a live sketch comedy show on a weekly basis, Saturday Night Live has it down to an art. Despite some hilarious unplanned moments like Colin Jost being tricked into taking a shot at his wife Scarlett Johansson and practically the whole cast breaking during Ryan Gosling’s viral “Beavis and Butt-Head” sketch, SNL is largely a well-oiled machine where everyone is able to hit their marks on time. In order to do that, apparently there are some awkward-sounding quick wardrobe changes, and Kristen Wiig and Jon Hamm got real about being naked and seeing “all of the parts.”

Kristen Wiig was a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 2005 to 2012, and has been back several times as a host since then. In fact, the Bridesmaids star joined SNL’s Five-Timers Club with her latest appearance this April. Jon Hamm, on the other hand, has hosted just three times, so Wiig was far more prepared for the naked quick change they were about to endure during one of those tapings. In a conversation with Wiig for Variety, Hamm recalled: 

I find it so amusing that Kristen Wiig apparently tried to give Jon Hamm a quick heads-up that his clothes were about to come off, and I have to wonder if they didn’t warn him about that beforehand? There’s no doubt, however, when you have mere seconds to change out of one costume and into another and get back on set for the next sketch, there’s no time for modesty. 

Kristen Wiig acknowledged the strangeness of it all, and even though she must have experienced the quick change numerous times over her seven-season stint, she was caught off guard during one of her hosting gigs when she supposedly caught an eyeful of Kenan Thompson. She said:

Jon Hamm agreed, adding: 

Being able to think of yourself as a mannequin is a pretty good way of alleviating some of the uneasiness that could naturally come with being stripped down by a crew in front of other performers.

From the moment I first saw the Unfrosted trailer, two things stuck out in my mind. First, the crazy comedy tone of Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut looked like it was going to be absolutely nuts. However, the second thing was a pair of names that seemed ripe for a cameo opportunity that could make television fans even happier.

As it turns out, my hunch on those cameos was correct, and when sitting down with Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Gaffigan during the Unfrosted press day, I was able to ask how this pair of wild appearances came to pass. Now since what we’re about to discuss is probably the largest spoiler in the roster of inspired cameos that fill Jerry Seinfeld’s film, I have to warn the uninitiated.

Unfrosted’s Mad Men Scene, Explained

Unfrosted’s fictional story of Pop Tarts’ invention includes a couple of moments with, as Jim Gaffigan’s Edsel Kellogg III calls them, "a couple of can't miss Madison Avenue ad men.” But to the world at large, they’re known as Roger Sterling and Don Draper, played respectively by John Slattery and Jon Hamm.

As one could expect, the scene where Kellogg and his cohorts Bob Cabana (Jerry Seinfeld) and Donna Stankowski (Melissa McCarthy) plays out like a classic Mad Men pitch session gone beautifully wrong. With the Kellogg's team unable to decide on a name for their product, Don takes the idea of the Pop Tart and injects some sexiness into it. If you thought the process of unwrapping and heating up this classic confection couldn’t be turned into borderline TV-MA dialogue, you haven’t heard Jon Hamm’s spiel introducing what he eventually renames the “Jelle Jolie.”

Unfortunately, Edsel and company don’t take that suggestion, leading Don and Roger to leave the room in a huff. However, that's not before Donna shares her own moment of sparks with Don, because would it be a Mad Men moment without Mr. Draper trying to close the deal?

How Jerry Seinfeld Landed Those Mad Men Cameos In Unfrosted

Those who have missed Mad Men’s presence on the airwaves are going to love this scene, as there are plenty of pleasing references and nods to the series’ characters and events sprinkled onto this cinematic pastry. This includes some rather strong memories of Season 7’s final moments, which tracks since in a recent GQ interview, Jerry Seinfeld named the series finale as one of the best in the business.

However, when it came to landing Jon Hamm and John Slattery in the Unfrosted galaxy of talent, it actually wasn’t too hard to land. Seinfeld shared with CinemaBlend how simple it all really was, in these remarks:

As if the Unfrosted cast wasn’t already stacked with an insane roster of talent, Jerry Seinfeld decided to jump in and include the reunion of Sterling and Draper almost a decade after we bid farewell to Mad Men and its characters. While getting the actors to agree to this appearance was one thing, even during Jon Hamm's TV comeback year, making sure that the proper clearances were obtained was a whole other issue.

The Process Involved In Clearing Roger Sterling And Don Draper For Unfrosted

Plenty of historical figures and icons of foodstuff history are shown off in Unfrosted. In fact, there’s no other movie where you could see John F. Kennedy criticize a drawing of a Pop Tart, Snap, Crackle and Pop overseeing a funeral with military-style honors, and legendary actor Hugh Grant continuing his “Orange Era” of performances.

However, Mad Men's leading men are trademarked characters of fiction, which leads to much stronger copyright rules at play. Even then, as Jerry Seinfeld described the thought process executed to make it all happen, co-star and friend Jim Gaffigan also brought up another interesting concern. Here's what they told CinemaBlend further along in this interview:

"Jim Gaffigan: Also asking someone who’s done these iconic characters are they gonna be ok to do that?

Jerry Seinfeld: Yeah. It wasn’t that bad. It was a really long shot, to be honest with you, because Matthew Weiner is [a] very highly respective guy. For example, if someone wanted to take two characters from my TV series, and put it in their movie, that wouldn’t happen. … But they had a great sense of humor about it, they wanted to do it. But that took a couple phone calls."

While there were “a couple phone calls” made to jump through the hoops to secure these cameos, Mad Men fans will notice a rather interesting distinction that probably helped seal the deal. If you listen closely through the Unfrosted sequence that includes Messrs. Hamm and Slattery, there’s barely a mention of their character’s names; save for one utterance of, “Roger?”

Even in the end credits to Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut, the gents are credited as “Ad Man #1” (Jon Hamm) and “Ad Man #2” (John Slattery). So while we definitely know these are Mad Men’s shining stars at work, there’s just enough room for doubt that could distance the official legacy of Matthew Weiner’s television legend.

To make this whole matter seem even funnier is the meta video that Jerry Seinfeld did with Pop Tarts brand. As one could assume, there probably wasn’t much collaboration between Kellogg’s and Seinfeld’s camps. However, there was enough of a relationship to create this sketch where the President of Pop Tarts (Geoff Pierson) gives the comedian a hard time for making Unfrosted as an unsanctioned comedy. You can watch that bit below:

Leave it to a picture like Unfrosted to inspire some real life stories as crazy and intriguing as the fabricated history of the Pop Tart. While there aren't exactly any hopes of a Mad Men revival or sequel series in the air, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone at least tried to pitch an idea or two in the week to come.

Though if anything should come from this inspired moment of madness, it’s the suggestion that maybe Kellogg’s should take some inspiration from Don Draper and add that hint of chocolate to some of their fruit based Pop Tart flavors. You know, for those who dare.

If you dare to welcome the comedic chaos of Unfrosted into your own home, you need not wait any longer. All anyone needs is a Netflix subscription, a comfortable seating arrangement and enough time to flash back to their personally haunting origin story. Ok, maybe that last bit is optional, but you get the idea.

The Parks and Rec cast by itself is legendary. Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Rob Lowe, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Rashida Jones, Adam Scott and more served as regulars on the series for years, and to this day their characters are beloved. However, what made this show even more special was its constant stream of guest stars played by living legends. Everyone from Bill Murray to Michelle Obama to Ben Schwartz appeared on the NBC classic, and today, we’re here to talk about them. 

Paul Rudd

Now, I know we love Paul Rudd for his movies, but we also need to appreciate his brilliant work as Bobby Newport on Parks and Rec. During Season 4, the actor joined the cast to play the man running against Leslie Knope for a city council position. Overall, Bobby is childish, not smart and spoiled, and Rudd plays this silly idiot brilliantly. 

Bill Murray

Obviously, Bill Murray’s funniest roles include iconic characters like Phil Connors in Groundhog Day and Dr. Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters. However, his guest spot on Parks and Rec was unexpected and incredibly memorable. I write this because, for one episode in Season 7, the Saturday Night Live legend played Walter Gunderson, the dead mayor of Pawnee. 

Kathryn Hahn

Playing the cutthroat campaign manager Jen Barkley, Kathryn Hahn made a glorious (and a smidge evil) impact on Parks and Rec. She played a cutthroat manager who worked for Bobby Newport at first, and across ten episodes she popped in from time to time to both help and harm Leslie’s political career. 

Ben Schwartz 

Arguably, Jean-Ralphio Saperstein is one of the best recurring guest stars in Parks and Rec history. The rich boy who is friends with Tom is ridiculous, scammy and he’s constantly trying to flirt with everyone and sing whenever he can. While he’s 100% the worst, he’s also totally not “the WORRRRRRSSSSSTTTT,” if you know what I mean.  

Jenny Slate

In a stroke of perfect casting, Jenny Slate popped into Parks and Rec to play Jean-Ralphio’s sister Mona Lisa Saperstein. The siblings truly are the most chaotic duo, however, they’re also the two of the funniest extra side characters the sitcom has to offer. Just don’t fall for it when they ask for “money please!”

Henry Winkler

After getting to know Jean-Ralphio and Mona Lisa, we meet their father, Lu Saperstein in Season 6. Played brilliantly by Henry Winkler, the patriarch of the Saperstein family is a successful doctor who is willing to go to any financial length to help his kids. 

Sam Elliott

In the later seasons of the show, we met the Eagleton Parks Department. Ironically, each member of that crew matched up with a member of the Parks and Rec cast, and when it came to picking someone to play Nick Offerman’s Ron Swanson’s counterpart, they cast Sam Elliott as Ron Dunn. While they both have legendary mustaches and an appreciation for the outdoors, that’s where the similarities stop, and seeing Ron and Anti-Ron go head-to-head was hilarious. 

Joe Biden

Leslie loves her politicians and had a massive crush on then-Vice President Joe Biden. As an engagement gift, Ben decided to give her the perfect present and prove that he’s the ideal man, by coordinating a meet and greet between Leslie and Joe Biden.

Patton Oswalt

When Leslie tries to change Pawnee’s charter to get rid of some silly laws – like throwing a Ted into a lake – Garth Blundin makes his disapproval clear. Patton Oswalt plays the historian, and he challenges Amy Poehler’s character to a filibuster and a day of living like a colonial person. Ultimately, he and Leslie find common ground, and he joins forces with her to help preserve the laws…he also volunteers to get thrown in the lake.

Michelle Obama

As Leslie tries to figure out if she should take a job at the National Parks Department and leave Pawnee, Michelle Obama comes in to tell her about why she should take it. Let’s just say if I met the First Lady, I think I’d be just as star-struck as Leslie Knope. How could you not stumble over your words if you casually bumped into the First Lady of the United States?

Bo Burnham

Some of the funniest stand-up on Netflix comes from Bo Burnham, and in his special Make Happy, he sings a “Country Song” that pokes fun at the cliches in the genre and how some artists are masters at pandering to their audiences. On Parks and Rec, he worked with that idea as well by playing country singer Chipp McCapp who Leslie and Andy tried to hire for a performance at the Unity Concert. His songs like “Beautiful Like My Mom (Support the Troops)” were truly hilarious, and they complimented the stand-up comedian's sense of humor very well. 

John McCain

Parks and Rec knows how to do a political cameo, and one of the best ones came when Leslie didn’t even realize she’d just met John McCain in a coat closet. She was so distraught over interacting with #4 and #26 on Leslie’s list of amazing women, that she didn’t even notice she was speaking with the senator. 

Megan Mullally

You know chaos mode has been activated when Ron’s second ex-wife Tammy II enters the chat. She’s constantly trying to simultaneously take Ron down and get back together with her, and his efforts to avoid it are truly hilarious. However, what really makes this dynamic duo so hysterical and one of the best recurring inside jokes on Parks and Rec is the fact that Tammy II is played by Nick Offerman’s real-life wife Megan Mullally. 

Will Forte

Amy Poehler and Will Forte were both in some of SNL’s best casts, and it was such a treat to see them reunite on Parks and Rec. In his episode, Forte played Kelly, a man who really wants to get the Twilight books put in Pawnee’s town time capsule. When Leslie refuses and then agrees, it starts an outcry over what can and can’t go in the capsule via a chaotic town meeting. 

Jon Hamm

According to Leslie, Jon Hamm’s Ed is the “most incompetent person I’ve ever worked with.” He worked for our leading lady when she was at the National Parks Department, and he was swiftly fired by her not long after we met him. 

John Cena

In an epic episode of Andy’s show, the Johnny Karate Super Awesome Musical Explosion Show, Burt Macklin, FBI, arrested John Cena – who was wearing so much of his own WWE merch – and took him to the dunk tank. Talk about a dream come true for Andy and viewers.

Keegan-Michael Key

There’s no question that all our hearts grew a few sizes when Donna married Keegan-Michael Key’s Joe. The comedian played the “Treat yo’ self’ queen’s boyfriend-turned-husband in Seasons 6 and 7, and it’s safe to say that we all adored this music teacher. 

Bradley Whitford

Considering Parks and Rec is a show about government and Rob Lowe is one of its stars, it made perfect sense for a West Wing cast member to pop into the sitcom. It was done perfectly too, because the team brought in Josh himself, as Bradley Whitford played Councilman Pillner, the man Leslie replaces on City Council and a model boat enthusiast. 

J.K. Simmons

Remember Ice Town? Well, Ben’s hometown of Partridge and J.K. Simmons’ Mayor Stice sure do. And that became clear as day when an episode of Parks went back to Adam Scott’s character’s hometown so he could get a key to the city, which ended up just being melted water in a box…because Ice Town. 

Patricia Clarkson

While Megan Mullally’s Tammy II is truly unhinged and chaotic, Tammy I is cold, calculated, and manipulative. She’s played by Patricia Clarkson, and she really adds to the hilarious chaos that is Ron Swanson’s love life. 

Andy Samberg

Back when Andy Samberg was still on Saturday Night Live and before he led his own sitcom, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, he guest starred on Parks and Rec as the incredibly loud Park Ranger Carl. During Season 2, Leslie worked with Carl on a few issues of Parks security, and let's just say that she “might not be so confident, when [she has to] walk a mile in [Carl’s]  size sevens.” 

Rachel Dratch

In the final season of Parks and Recreation, Amy Poehler’s Saturday Night Live co-star Rachel Dratch appeared as Roz Pinwheel, the nanny of Leslie and Ben’s triplets. While a small role, it was such a nice (and funny) nod to the two comedians' time together on the legendary sketch comedy show.

Nick Kroll

If you were looking to get humiliated on the radio look no further than "The Douche." This hilarious and terrible radio host was played by the mastermind behind one of the best animated shows, Big Mouth, Nick Kroll, and anytime he showed up to host a radio spot on the series, you knew something wild was about to go down.

Chelsea Peretti

While Leslie ran for City Council, April filled in for her one time, and during one of her seminars Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Chelsea Peretti showed up as one of the attendees, Zelda. Fun fact: before Peretti was part of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast, she actually wrote two episodes of Parks and Rec, which helps explain her lil cameo in the series. 

Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell was quite literally the perfect person to play Leslie Knope’s Eagleton councilwoman counterpart, Ingrid de Forest. It turns out, Bell was born to thrive on a comedy like this, because after Parks and Rec, she went on to lead the cast of The Good Place, which was Michael Schur’s next show after Parks.  

Dax Shepard

When Tom decides to become Andy’s manager as he works on Johnny Karate, they have a run-in with Hank Muntak, a TV executive in Pawnee who is played by Dax Shepard. Before this guest spot, the actor had spent a lot of time on NBC as one of the stars of Parenthood, these days you can find him hosting his podcast Armchair Expert. 

Will Arnett

Before Leslie meets and falls in love with Ben, she goes on some wildly terrible dates, including one with MRI technician Chris. At the time, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett were actually married (they’re divorced now), making this blind date even funnier because they were a real-life couple too. 

Sean Hayes

Bobby Wood was Indianapolis’ best talk show host, and he was played by Sean Hayes. As television appearances tend to go for Leslie and co. her interview with him didn’t exactly go well, and both comedic actors were so funny in the moment. 

Fred Armisen

You can always count on Fred Armisen to play the wildest goofy guys, and he did exactly that on Parks and Recreation. In the episode “Sister City,” the SNL vet appeared as Raul Alejandro Bastilla Pedro de Veloso de Maldonado, the Venezuelan officer who came to represent his city on a trip to Pawnee. 

Tatiana Maslany

Tom Haverford’s love life was always a funny point of interest on Parks and Rec, especially because it was only brought up occasionally. For instance, in Season 6, he had a short-lived relationship with Tatiana Maslany’s Nadia Stasky, a doctor who eventually left Pawnee and moved to Rwanda.  

Parker Posey

Indie darling Parker Posey came on to Parks and Rec to play Lindsay Carlisle Shay. The character was Leslie’s counterpart from Eagleton, meaning she was the Deputy Parks Director in Pawnee’s fancy rival town. The twist here was that Lindsay was actually Leslie’s friend and went behind her back a long time ago to take the job in Eagleton. 

Jason Schwartzman

Jason Schwartzman’s role in Parks and Rec presented an interesting issue for Pawnee when he decided to turn his video rental store into an adult store. Watching Leslie flounder as she figured out how to help the character played by the Asteroid City star was so funny, and the character of Dennis was perfect for Schwartzman.  

Honestly, the guest stars from Parks and Rec are next level. From comedy geniuses to beloved dramatic actors, so many notable names took a quick trip to Pawnee, Indiana and I love that for them, this wonderful show and us. 

Taylor Sheridan is currently one of TV’s busiest creatives, and while fans are waiting for Yellowstone’s final Season 5 episodes, he’s currently in the middle of filming his latest small screen effort, the oil boom drama Landman. Like his other shows, this one has a stacked cast, with Jon Hamm’s involvement revealed as the production kicked off in February. But maybe don’t expect a ton of other similarities to Sheridan’s more western fare.

Hamm has already made an impact on 2024 TV in different ways, from closing out Sheriff’s Roy Tillman’s arc in the acclaimed fifth season of FX’s Fargo to starring in and executive producing Fox’s animated comedy Grimsburg. But presumably before we see his Archangel Gabriel again in Good Omens’ third and final season, we’ll see him bringing Taylor Sheridan’s dialogue to the screen as Monty Miller in Landman, which will stream with a Paramount+ subscription. But he presumably won’t share much in common with the Duttons, as he explained to People what fans should expect from the Texas-set drama:

Jon Hamm confirmed that production on the series is already halfway over, which means the cameras might be done rolling on Landman by the end of April. Which is right when Yellowstone is expected to go back into production in Montana, squarely during the months where it's warmest and snow isn't an issue. (Though it's possible/likely that some of Season 5 could have been filmed at the 6666 ranch in Texas where Jimmy and Emily live.)

In any case, though Landman won't be a cowboy-esque drama in the most traditional respect, and will presumably showcase more cars than horses, the show does hold strong to a central theme of Taylor Sheridan's work: protecting and/or exploiting someone's land, from single properties to the titular cities where Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King are set.

Only in this story, which is based on the podcast Boomtown, it sounds like almost everyone is serving their own interests rather than trying to protect a legacy or keep the peace in any way. Billy Bob Thornton stars as an oil company's crisis executive, and Hamm as a longtime colleague, as well as one of Texas' oil field elite. And the way the Mad Men vet puts it, it also sounds like everything is going to get very testy indeed, as it goes when billions of dollars are at stake.

Hopefully Landman makes it through the rest of production without any snafus, so that Taylor Sheridan can shift back to closing out the Duttons’ current chapter before then bouncing to the 2024 spinoff and other upcoming Yellowstone shows in the pipeline. Both Landman and Yellowstone should be debuting on the 2024 TV schedule, but stay tuned for more details.

Top Gun: Maverick has been one of the biggest movies of the decade so far, so it’s no wonder people can’t seem to stop talking about it. The film captured the high-flying action of the original film, while also infusing a lot of heart with its new characters. Director Joseph Kosinski had big shoes to fill when taking on the project, especially considering the 1986 film was so beloved. Luckily, many of his frequent collaborators hopped on board, including big names like Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, and of course, Tom Cruise. Apparently, one of his former collaborators even almost appeared in Jon Hamm’s part before the Mad Men actor was cast in the supporting role. 

Kosinski recently sat down with Josh Horowitz on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast to do a watch-along of Top Gun: Maverick with the host. He opened up about what it was like shooting such a film on a massive scale, and shared some behind-the-scenes stories from the movie. Considering Kosinski had worked with many of the actors in the film, previously, the filmmaker was asked if any other actors almost made it into Top Gun 2, like Josh Brolin. He revealed that Brolin was in talks to play Jon Hamm’s role, Cyclone, in the film, but scheduling conflicts made it impossible. He said: 

Thankfully, Jon Hamm was available and eager to take on the role in the blockbuster film. He is great in the part, creates friction as a juxtaposition to Cruise’s rebellious, risk-taking “Maverick” character. Hamm also has previously opened up about how much he loved working on Maverick, and how excited he was to be cast in the Top Gun sequel. Now that Hamm has appeared in one of his films, the Baby Driver actor is officially part of the Kosinski-film family, so audiences may be lucky enough to see Hamm appear in another film from the director in the near future. 

As great as Hamm was in the Cyclone role, it’s hard not to wonder what Josh Brolin could’ve brought to the role. Brolin is known for having a tough-guy persona on screen, so he could’ve brought an even harsher aspect to the character. The Sicario actor led Kosinski’s 2017 film, Only The Brave where he brought a high level of intensity to his firefighter character. I wonder if he would’ve brought the same energy to Top Gun: Maverick, or something totally different. We probably will never know, but this casting “what-if” is still fun to ponder about.

It may not be long at all before both of these actors ended up in another Joseph Kosinski project. The director has been teasing a potential Top Gun 3 since the film came out, and recently it was reported that plans for a third Top Gun are well underway with the director involved. While casting for the film has yet to be announced, fans would love to see Hamm reprise his role as Cyclone for the follow up film. In addition, maybe Brolin’s schedule is more freed up and he could also potentially come on board for at least a cameo. There's currently a lot of speculation about the highly anticipated threequel, and a lot being kept under wraps, but fans know when it comes to Top Gun, the sky's the limit. 

We may have to wait a while for Top Gun 3 news, but in the meantime, you revisit Jon Hamm’s performance as Cyclone in Top Gun: Maverick, which is currently streaming for Paramount+ subscribers. You can also see Josh Brolin in Kosinski’s Only the Brave, which is now on Starz.

Very few people can say that they started out working their dream job and celebrities — excluding some well-known child stars, of course — are certainly no exception. Many of the biggest names on the A-list used to make a living doing something completely different than what they are now famous for, but at least some of them can say that one of their earliest jobs was especially different. Take a look at some of our favorite examples of not-so-average professions famous people took on before hitting it big.

Meghan Markle (Calligrapher)

Even before Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, she knew how the write like a princess. According to People, the former Suits cast member used to work part-time as a professional calligrapher, writing out wedding invitations for the likes of Robin Thicke and Paula Patton and even teaching the craft.

Whoopi Goldberg (Mortuary Cosmetologist)

Even before teaming up with a “spirited” Patrick Swayze in the 1990 romantic supernatural thriller, Ghost, Whoopi Goldberg knew a thing or two about the dead. The future EGOT winner recalled to David Letterman on Late Night how she used to work in a mortuary putting makeup on corpses and styling their hair.

Matthew McConaughey (Golf Course Armadillo Hunter)

Matthew McConaughey broke through in the industry with his unforgettable performance in Dazed and Confused in 1994. Earlier than that (as he revealed to GQ), the Academy Award-winning Texas native worked at Oak Forest Country Club initially to just rake the golf course sand traps, until he was asked to also help get rid of an armadillo infestation. All right, all right, all right.

Christopher Walken (Lion Tamer)

Did you ever notice how often Christopher Walken has played an animal — such in 2016’s astonishing The Jungle Book remake as King Louie or in the 1998 animated adventure, Antz? Well, as the Oscar-winner revealed to Vanity Fair, he actually has a unique connection with animals, having gained some experience with lion taming while working at a traveling circus.

Simu Liu (Birthday Party Spider-Man)

When Simu Liu led the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings cast in the title role, technically, that was not his first time playing a Marvel Comics character. While on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Chinese-Canadian actor shared that he used to dress up as Spider-Man and entertain children at birthday parties.

Jennifer Lopez (Law Office Tax Return Filer)

Most people know that one of Jennifer Lopez’s earliest jobs before becoming “Jenny from the Block” was dancing with the Fly Girls on In Living Color. Yet, the Bronx Times revealed that, before even then, she spent her Saturdays at the Thomas Lavin Law Office filing tax returns.

Margot Robbie (Sandwich Artist)

From the way Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn speaks so passionately about a certain breakfast item in 2020’s Birds of Prey, you might think the Australian actor knows a thing or two about making sandwiches, and you would be correct. The Academy Award nominee spoke to Sean Evans on Hot Ones about her time as a “sandwich artist” at Subway, where she actually invented a few delicious concoctions of her own.

Terry Crews (Courtroom Sketch Artist)

A lesser-known fact about Terry Crews is that he is an exceptional drawer and even showed some of the best examples from his portfolio on Jimmy Kimmel Live. During that same visit, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast member and America’s Got Talent host recalled how he put that talent to great use by working for a television station sketching scenes from local trials in his hometown of Flint, Michigan.

Megan Fox (Smoothie Shop Banana Mascot)

One time when Megan Fox appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actor fell prey to the host’s recurring “jump scare” gag, courtesy of a person dressed as up as a banana. The costume choice was in reference to the Transformers movies star’s first job at a smoothie shop, for which she would, sometimes, have to dress as the yellow fruit to promote the business.

Hugh Jackman (Clown)

While known best for playing very intimidating characters like Wolverine in the X-Men movies, Hugh Jackman is known to be a very funny and charming presence offscreen. It makes sense when you discover the Australian actor used to work as a clown, but would reveal to Howard Stern that his talents were limited to juggling and found entertaining children above three years old quite difficult.

Eva Mendes (Hot Dog On A Stick Vendor)

Fun fact: one of Eva Mendes’ earliest show business gigs was appearing in Will Smith’s 1998 “Miami” video before reuniting with him in Hitch seven years later. Before then, she made dough working at a “hot dog on a stick place,” which she revealed to Australia’s Will & Woody radio show (via Daily Mail) that she was actually fired from for giving an inappropriate Secret Santa gift to a coworker.

Sylvester Stallone (Girls Boarding School Dorm Bouncer)

Even if Sylvester Stallone had not written one of the best sports movies ever, 1976’s Rocky, he could have landed the title role of the aspiring boxer by his physicality alone. According to a profile by People, his jacked frame came in handy when he was 18 and started working at a Swiss boarding school to both teach gym and keep unwanted guests out of the girls dorms.

Wanda Sykes (NSA)

As one of the funniest people of her generation — and the star of one of Paramount+’s best stand-up comedy specials — it may come as a surprise to learn that Wanda Sykes used to work for an organization as serious as the National Security Agency. However, as she explained on The Rich Eisen Show, her job did not involve covert operations or filing classified material, but “buying stuff” for the office, mostly.

Chris Pratt (Coupon Salesperson) 

Before joining an insane amount of franchises (including the MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies to the Jurassic World trilogy), Chris Pratt had humble beginnings as a supporting character on hit TV shows Everwood and Parks and Recreation. However, his true beginnings were even humbler, having revealed during an appearance on Conan that he once sold coupons door-to-door and did well enough to manage his own office of salespeople.

Taylor Swift (Praying Mantis Exterminator)

Years before taking on the world as a hit singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift grew up on a Christmas tree farm where everyone in her family was given a different task. As she told Esquire, the star of the sensational “Eras Tour” had the job “picking praying-mantis pods off of the trees” so that customers would not have an invasion of multi-legged uninvited guests.

Brad Pitt (Chicken Restaurant Mascot)

With how many intimidating roles Brad Pitt has played, from Fight Club’s Tyler Durden to Cliff Booth in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the last thing anyone would think to call the actor is “a chicken.” Yet, you would not have been wrong if, decades ago, you spotted him when he made a living dressed as the mascot for California chicken restaurant El Pollo Loco, as he recalled on The Ellen Show in 2019.

Cindy Crawford (Corn Shucker)

One of the most famous models of all time, Cindy Crawford, first took on that profession in Chicago when she was 17, at a rate of $1,000 per day. A profile for Town & Country mentions that the modeling gig “sure beat shucking corn for $4 an hour,” which is something she did for a summer when she was younger.

Helen Mirren (Amusement Park Blagger)

Academy Award winner Helen Mirren technically got her start as an actor by participating in the National Youth Theatre before she was invited into the Royal Shakespeare Company, but first started honing her performance skills as a “blagger” for a London amusement park. While appearing on Mark Maron’s WTF Podcast, she defined “blagging” as shouting “something incomprehensible out to someone just to get their attention.”

Taraji P. Henson (Pentagon Secretary/Tina Turner Cover Singer)

Some of Taraji P. Henson’s most famous roles, such as Shug in Hustle & Flow and Cookie (a notable TV divorcée) on Empire, are linked to the music industry — a fact that is made even more interesting when you discover she used to work on a Potomac River cruise ship singing Tina Turner covers. Per Vanity Fair, at that same time, the future Academy Award nominee’s day job was at the Pentagon as a secretary.

Steve Buscemi (Firefighter)

While not exactly a “weird” job, it is intriguing to learn that Steve Buscemi used to work as a New York firefighter before landing roles like Mr. Pink in Reservoir Dogs. He would later revisit this time in his both onscreen (in The King of Staten Island) and in real life when — per The Independent — he volunteered to help his old company, Engine 55, search for survivors of the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001.

Ken Jeong (Doctor)

After starring in 2009’s The Hangover cast and the Community cast made him a star, Ken Jeong led his own sitcom called Dr. Ken. The short-lived ABC comedy was actually based on the comedian’s previous career as an internal medicine specialist, during which he pursued comedy merely to “let off some steam,” as he shared to NPR.

Ashton Kutcher (Cereal Factory Sweeper)

Before hitting it big as Michael Kelso in the That ‘70s Show cast and, later, making innovations in the tech industry, Ashton Kutcher got his start in the cereal industry. To be more precise, as he recalled on Hot Ones, the actor swept the floors of loose Cheerios shavings at a General Mills factory.

Halsey (DMV Photographer)

As a chart-topping Grammy nominee and a non-actor who nailed her SNL hosting gig, Halsey is a person who boasts many skills but has only demonstrated a few to the public, as it turns out. She revealed in a tweet that, when she was still “Ashley Frangipane,” she worked “loads” of different jobs, but the one that caught our eye was taking “license photos at the DMV.”

Zayn Malik (Boxer)

While he did not actually make a living doing this, before competing on The X Factor and joining One Direction made Zayn Malik a star, he trained in boxing in his mid-to-late teens. In 2013, he told Daily Star (via Digital Spy) that he aspired to pursue the sport full-time at some point.

Jennifer Aniston (Bike Messenger)

As part of the Friends cast, Jennifer Aniston became one of the highest-paid actors of her time, but in her earlier years, did several odd jobs for her mother’s advertising firm. One of them, as she shared on The Tonight Show, was being a bike messenger “for a day” that she admits she decided to finish out by taking a cab for final delivery.

George Clooney (Insurance Salesman)

Despite technically growing up in a show business family (his father, Nick Clooney, is a former TV personality, and his aunt, Rosemary, acted), it took time for George Clooney to find fame of his own. According to The Standard, the Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker worked various low-paying jobs early on — one of which was going door-to-door, selling insurance.

Jon Hamm (Adult Film Set Dresser)

Very few A-listers would be willing to admit they worked in the adult film industry, but Jon Hamm had no problem talking to Howard Stern about it. For $100 a day, the Emmy-winning Mad Men cast member worked as a set dresser for, as he described them, “Skinemax movies.”

Amy Adams (Hooters Server)

Many people might say that they first saw Amy Adams when she appeared on The Office in its first season, but others might be able to claim she served them at Hooters. The Academy Award nominee told Entertainment Tonight that the restaurant chain gig was a “great way” to make ends meet during college before she found success as an actor.

Chris Hemsworth (Human Milk Pump Cleaner)

During a game of “True Confessions” with Kumail Nanjiani and host Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, MCU star Chris Hemsworth’s potentially false personal fact stated that he used to clean and repair human milk pumps for pharmacies to rent when he was 14. It turned out to be the truth.

Danny DeVito (Morgue Hairdresser)

An artist known for his morbid sense of humor — as he has demonstrated by his crazy moments as Frank Reynolds on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and by helming movies like Duplex and Death to Smoochy — is Danny DeVito. Perhaps he got it from the several times he worked as a hairdresser for female corpses — a story he shared on The Always Sunny Podcast (via Unilad).

Channing Tatum (Exotic Dancer)

If you ever wondered how Channing Tatum learned to dance the way he does in 2012’s Magic Mike, according to an interview with Flicks and Bits, the drama was inspired by his own life before acting. In 2015, the actor recalled to Howard Stern how he started his brief exotic dancing career when he was 19 after dropping out of college.

Miley Cyrus (Undergarment Collector)

Miley Cyrus is one of the few examples on our list who actually did come from a show business family, but having a rock star like Billy Ray Cyrus as her dad also led to her first odd job. The former Hannah Montana star told Rolling Stone that, when she was much younger, her father used to pay her $10 for picking up women's undergarments that had been thrown on stage during his concerts.

Some of these jobs would make us thankful to eventually be an actor or singer if we were in any of these celebrity’s shoes. However, others sound like an interesting way to make a living.

Many would agree that Jon Hamm is a bonafide leading man and definitely proved that through his work on the critically acclaimed AMC series Mad Men. So it’s somewhat surprising that the Emmy winner has served as the lead of a TV show since the celebrated drama ended in 2015. Hamm fans have likely missed seeing him in that capacity and, luckily for them, there’s good news on that front. The actor has officially scored his firsting leading role since his tenure as Don Draper ended. And interestingly enough, it’ll see him sticking around Apple TV+, where he’s appeared as of late. 

The 52-year-old actor has most recently been featured on Season 3 of The Morning Show (which has been viewed by Apple TV+ subscribers). The Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston-led show tapped him for a supporting role, and Jon Hamm’s casting was apparently crucial. Now, Hamm has been cast to play the lead in Your Friends and Neighbors, a crime drama. It was reported by TVLine this week that the production had received a series order from Apple’s streaming platform. 

Created by See and Warrior’s Jonathan Topper, Your Friends and Neighbors will have the A-lister playing the role of Coop. The official logline describes the character as “a recently divorced hedge fund manager who, after being fired, resorts to stealing from the wealthy residents in his tony upstate New York suburb in order to keep his family’s lifestyle afloat.” That sounds interesting enough, but it sounds like the story will really take a turn when the “petty crimes begin to reinvigorate him until he breaks into the wrong house at the wrong time.” Topper also serves as an EP alongside Connie Tavel, who worked on the leading man’s (underrated) 2022 mystery comedy, Confess, Fletch.

John Hamm’s TV comeback with The Morning Show was exciting enough, but this sounds like a truly perfect role for him. He’s an actor who knows how to tow the line between comedy and tragedy and, based on the premise, it sounds like he’ll be leaning more into the latter with this latest production. Also, that description alone is incredibly intriguing, and it honestly makes me think of an AMC character who once opted to “break bad” while going through a tough time. 

TMS isn’t the only TV-related fare that the No Sudden Move alum has been working on as of late. He’s also featured amongst the ensemble of FX’s Fargo Season 5, which we know a bit about. The show has earned him praise thus far and, just this past week, he scored a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film. Unsurprisingly, Jon Hamm also has some big-screen work on the horizon. He’s part of the cast of the musical Mean Girls movie, in which he plays Coach Carr, and is lending his voice to the role of Sentinel Prime in Transformers One.

One would hope that Your Friends and Neighbors ushers in a glorious new era of TV for the actor and results in him showing up on our screens for at least the next several years. There’s still much more to learn about the series, but I’m confident that the lead actor and his colleagues will knock it out of the park.

The “will they, won’t they” trope refers to when a TV show traces the blossoming romance of two central characters — such as Jim and Pam from the U.S. version of The Office cast or the two original lead Cheers characters, Sam and Diane. But, what about the characters who led a major storyline that involved the end of their relationship and, more specifically, the end of a marriage? We thought we would give some of the most iconic divorced TV characters their due by highlighting our favorites below.

Ross Gellar (Friends)

The ultimate TV divorcee — in sitcoms, at least — is easily Ross Gellar (David Schwimmer), who is splitting from his first wife, Carol, in the Friends pilot. In Season 4, his marriage to Emily Waltham (Helen Baxendale) is ruined during the ceremony because of his oft-debated history with Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), who later becomes his third wife by a drunken mistake in Vegas. 

Joyce Byers (Stranger Things)

Before Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and the rest of the Stranger Things cast faced off against Demagorgons and other creatures, she had another monster to contend with: her husband. The selfish, deceitful, and abusive Lonnie (Ross Partridge) did not even care about the disappearance of his own son, Will (Noah Schnapp), in Season 1 of the Netflix sci-fi drama and blamed Joyce, who eventually — and quite thankfully — found romance with longtime friend, Jim Hopper (David Harbour).

Don Draper (Mad Men)

The seemingly picture-perfect union of Don Draper and Betty Hofstadt (Mad Men cast members Jon Hamm and January Jones) came to an end by the AMC period drama’s fourth season after unsuccessful attempts to reconcile amid each other’s affairs. However, it was not the ad executive’s last or even first marriage. Previously, his union with Anna Draper (Melinda Page Hamilton) — widow of the man whose identity he stole — was annulled and he and his third wife, Megan Calvet (Jessica Pare), began to grow apart in the penultimate season.

Reba Hart (Reba)

One of the best country music singers-turned-actors, Reba McEntire, became sitcom royalty with her Golden Globe-nominated performance as the lead of her own comedy on The WB (and, later, The CW). Lasting six seasons, Reba was the story of a Southern single mother of three struggling to maintain a relationship with her ex-husband (played by Christopher Rich) and the woman he left her for (Melissa Peterman). Luckily, as the theme song says, she’s a survivor.

Seong Gi-hun (Squid Game)

In one of the best Netflix TV shows, Squid Game, the central protagonist Seong Gi-hun (Emmy winner Lee Jung-jae) chooses to leave for the deadly tournament after surviving the first round. But, after learning that his daughter is about to move to the United States with his ex-wife and her new husband, which is what convenes him to reenter the games. However, in the Season 1 finale, he ditches his chance to reconnect with his daughter in favor of taking down the tournament, which we will see playing when Season 2 of the South Korean hit premieres.

Frasier Crane (Cheers, Frasier)

On Cheers, Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) meets and eventually weds fellow psychiatrist, Lilith (Bebe Neuwirth). After she left him for another man before later pleading reconciliation, the long-running series ended with their marriage facing an uncertain fate. When Frasier’s self-titled spin-off premiered, it was revealed that he had left for good before packing up for Seattle, where they would sometimes reunite, including on Paramount+’s revival series in 2023.

Toby Flenderson (The Office)

The HR representative at Dunder-Mifflin’s Scranton branch, Toby Flenderson (The Office writer Paul Lieberstein), is divorced — a fact his self-described enemy, branch manager Michael Scott (Steve Carell), often uses to taunt him. Toby and his ex-wife had a daughter named Sasha (Delaney Ruth Farrell), whom we meet in one of the most cringe-worthy episodes of The Office, “Take Your Daughter to Work Day.”

Dorothy Zbornak (The Golden Girls)

What led Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur) to move in with her mother, Sophia (Estelle Getty), Blanche (Rue McClanahan), and Rose (Betty White) is her split from Stan (Herb Edelman). Nonetheless, Dorothy’s ex-husband would remain a recurring staple of The Golden Girls, and the former spouses’ lasting, yet imperfect, affection for one another made for a uniquely charming pair.

Bobby And Pam Ewing (Dallas)

The only thing as captivating as the mystery of who shot J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman) on Dallas was the marriage of Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy) to Pamela (Victoria Principal), who comes from the rival Barnes family. The Romeo and Juliet-style romance which turned many against them was initially the central focus of the primetime soap (one of the most popular TV shows of its time), until the couple ended up turning against each other.

Kirk And Luann Van Houten (The Simpsons)

In Season 3 of The Simpsons, we meet Milhouse’s parents, Kirk (Hank Azaria) — one of the most popular Simpsons characters to enter the series late — and Luann Van Houten (Maggie Roswell). In Season 8 — after a disastrous game of Pictionary at Homer and Marge’s dinner party — the couple called it quits and Kirk’s many efforts to salvage their union — including penning a song called “Can I Borrow a Feeling” — could not redeem it, unfortunately.

Grace Adler (Will & Grace)

Interior designer Grace Adler (Will & Grace cast member Debra Messing) almost got married in the pilot before finally finding her match in Dr. Leo Marcus (Harry Connick, Jr.), until his one-night-stand on a Cambodian Doctors Without Borders assignment ruined things. While they managed to work things out, remarry, and raise their daughter together in the finale, the 2017 revival series (which ignores the previous series’ ender) reveals that Grace, unable to trust Leo for his past mistake, left him again.

Michael And Jane Mancini (Melrose Place)

At the beginning of Melrose Place, the heart and soul of the Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off was surgeon Michael (Thomas Calabro) and fashion designer Jane Mancini (Josie Bissett). However, by Season 2, Michael’s suddenly villainous transformation — complete with a terrible attitude and adulterous habits — saw the end of the marriage.

Matt Foley (Saturday Night Live)

When Chris Farley’s most famous SNL character, Matt Foley, made his SNL debut — in a beloved sketch written by Bob Odenkirk — the motivational speaker provided three important facts about his life: he is 35, divorced, and lives in a van down by the river. In subsequent editions of the bit, we learn he has actually been married “thrice” and even winds up in jail for failing to pay alimony at one point.

Cleveland Brown (Family Guy)

One of the funniest Family Guy characters, Cleveland Brown (Arif Zahir, who replaced Mike Henry) was married to Loretta (Alex Borstein) until she was caught cheating with Quagmire (Seth MacFarlane). When he got his own spin-off, The Cleveland Show, he reunited with his childhood friend and secret crush, Donna Tubbs (Sanaa Lathan), and his dreams came true when they married.

Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm)

After years of putting up with the neurotic and selfish behavior of her husband, Larry David (creator Larry David), the final straw for Cheryl (Cheryl Hines) came late in Curb Your Enthusiasm’s sixth season when he was too preoccupied with a TiVo installer to comfort her during a turbulent flight over the phone. Larry would later attempt a few schemes to win her back, including casting her as the wife of a character he inspired, George Costanza (Jason Alexander), for an in-show Seinfeld cast reunion special. 

Alan Harper (Two And A Half Men)

Initially, the premise of the long-running CBS sitcom, Two and a Half Men, saw Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) reluctantly take in his brother, Alan (Jon Cryer), and nephew, Jake (Angus T. Jones), after Alan’s wife, Judith (Marin Hinkle) kicks him out. Alan later meets and marries the young, ditzy Kandi (April Bowlby) in an impromptu ceremony, but she splits with him because of — as it is eventually revealed — their differing opinions on having children… and his ear, nose, and chest hair.

Selina Meyer (Veep)

For, just about, the entire duration of their 12-year marriage, Andrew Meyer (David Pasquesi) cheated on his wife, Selina (Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus) almost constantly. Still, upon their reunion on Veep — a show Parks and Rec fans will love —  the attraction between them remains strong, which results in some increasingly ridiculous hijinks behind the scenes of Selina’s political career.

Lucious And Cookie Lyon (Empire)

We learn at the beginning of Empire that Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) divorced Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) while she was still in prison — kicking off a volatile personal and professional relationship between the music industry magnates upon her release. While they would remarry in Season 4, the sixth and final season began with them separated before, eventually, finalizing their second split.

Maura And Shelly Pfefferman (Transparent)

At the beginning of Amazon’s Emmy-winning dramedy, Transparent, Maura Pfefferman (Jeffrey Tambor) — then known as “Morton” — revealed to her wife, Shelley (Judith Light) that she was transgender, Shelley could not accept this news and opted to split up. Eventually, however, despite a brief chance at rekindling their romance, they prove to be much stronger friends.

Jules Cobb (Cougar Town)

After the series finale, Friends cast member Courteney Cox’s most successful follow-up was an ABC (later TBS) original sitcom called Cougar Town. She played Jules Cobb: a single, forty-something mother to Travis (Dan Byrd) — whom she had with ex-husband, Bobby (Brian Van Holt) — who eventually remarries when she falls for her neighbor, Grayson Ellis (Josh Hopkins).

Lou Grant (The Mary Tyler Moore Show)

One of the first TV characters depicted as a divorcé was Lou Grant, portrayed by the late Ed Asner to multi-Emmy-winning acclaim on The Mary Tyler Moore and on his more dramatic self-titled spin-off. The TV news producer’s marriage to Edie (Priscilla Morrill) ends roughly halfway through the series, but they remain in touch and Lou even attends Edie’s nuptials to Howard Gordon.

Erica Kane (All My Children)

One of the most notorious divorcés in TV history is Erica Kane, played by the legendary Susan Lucci on All My Children. Over the course of four decades on the ABC daytime soap opera, the businesswoman was seen tying the knot a staggering eleven times.

Angela Bower (Who's The Boss?)

Years before Judith Light portrayed a divorcé on Transparent, she played single mother Angela Bower on the hit ABC sitcom, Who’s the Boss? The advertising executive would eventually find love again with her widowed live-in housekeeper, Tony Micelle (Tony Danza).

Rhoda Morgenstern (Rhoda)

When Valerie Harper left the Mary Tyler Moore Show to star in her own spin-off, Rhoda, the title character would meet and marry a divorced man named Joe Gerard (David Groh). Their relationship would only last a couple more years and we discovered much later in a 2000 TV movie called Mary and Rhoda that she found a new French husband named Jean-Pierre Rousseau, but that marriage did not last either.

Niles Crane (Frasier)

Arguably the funniest recurring gag in Frasier is that Niles Crane’s (David Hyde Pierce) wife, Maris, is never once seen — due to the characters’ increasingly bizarre descriptions making her impossible to cast — even after their marriage falls apart in Season 4. Thankfully, Niles would later fall in love with his brother’s housekeeper, Daphne (Jane Leeves).

Angela Martin (The Office)

After her engagement to Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) ends due to her affair with Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), Angela Martin’s (Angela Kinsey) marriage to state senator Robert Lipton (Jack Coleman) ends due to his affair with Oscar Martinez (Oscar Nunez) in the final season of The Office. Soon after, she and Dwight finally and openly admit their love for each other and wed in the series finale, which actually counts as their second after Dwight fooled her into a marriage while she was still engaged to Andy.

Alexis Morrell (Dynasty)

Much of the most intense drama on the long-running primetime soap opera, Dynasty — which was later rebooted for The CW — stemmed from the relationship between former spouses Alexis Morrell (Joan Collins) and Blake Carrington (John Forsyth). The marriage was actually the first of four for the socialite, who also went on to marry Cecil Colby, Dex Dexter, and Sean Rowan.

Bill Dauterive (King Of The Hill)

For all 13 seasons of King of the Hill, Bill Dauterive (voiced by Stephen Root) never quite got over his ex-wife, Leonare (Ellen Barkin). There was a time in Season 5 when he had a chance at finding love again with former Texas governor Ann Richards (voicing herself), which ultimately went nowhere, but was almost ruined by one of Leonare’s schemes.

Mike and Gloria Stivic (All In The Family)

The conservative Archie Bunker (Carroll O’Connor) would constantly butt heads with the more liberal Mike Stivic (future filmmaker Rob Reiner), who was married to his daughter, Gloria. However, by the end of the groundbreaking run of All in the Family, the couple separated. Archie initially assumed it was by Mike’s doing, until Gloria admitted to her own infidelity.

Mr. Big (Sex And The City)

The classic “will they, won’t they” relationship between Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City cast lead Sarah Jessica Parker) and John James “Mr. Big” Preston (Chris Noth), would eventually result in marriage (until his death, as revealed in the sequel series, And Just Like That…), which was the entrepreneur’s third. He was previously married to a woman named Barbara and, during a time when he and Carrie were apart, married a younger woman named Natasha (Bridget Moynahan).

Louie (Louie)

Much like in real life, Louis C.K.’s fictionalized version of himself in the acclaimed FX series, Louie, is a divorced comedian. In fact, one of its sharpest elements is its almost tragically hilarious depiction of single parenthood from his perspective.

Henry VIII (The Tudors)

Borrowed straight from the history books, Showtime’s The Tudors incorporates a truly heinous depiction of a marriage ending. Because divorce is against her religion, Catherine (Maria Doyle Kennedy) has her marriage to King Henry VIII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) annulled due to his obsession with Anne Boleyn (Natalie Dormer). As a result, she is exiled. 

Breaking up is hard to do, but in the case of these divorced characters, it made for great television.

Jon Hamm is a TV and film actor who doesn’t shy away from looking handsome. His square shoulders and jaw can’t hide from the camera when he’s in projects like Mad Men or Million Dollar Arm, as well as his best random cameos. On the other hand, Hamm doesn’t always find being called “handsome” by his co-stars as a compliment.

Beautiful women face the threat of not being taken seriously as an actress when they’re cast solely as sex figures. Handsome men like Jon Hamm are in the same boat when they want their talent to stand out more than their appearance. The Baby Driver star once spoke to The Guardian about why being good looking can come off as burdensome to him.

The 52-year-old actor started his career playing “Gorgeous Guy at the Bar” on Ally McBeal. That speaks plenty for how the entertainment industry first thought of him. Even Baby Driver’s Edgar Wright admitted Hamm being “handsome” is why he wrote the part of Buddy with the actor in mind. He wanted to pick someone who would personify an attractive thief you’d see in stars like Steve McQueen in The Getaway or George Clooney in Out of Sight. While talking about the Black Mirror actor's comedy chops, Wright said a comment about handsome people that Hamm disagreed with.

The Primetime Emmy winner then went on to list a lot of funny people that he thought were good-looking. He mentioned his Bridesmaids co-star Kristen Wiig, 30 Rock co-star Tina Fey and SNL alum Amy Poehler as actresses who can be attractive, yet still bring out a chuckle from audiences. As for men, he listed Tom Cruise, Aziz Ansari, George Clooney and Matt Damon as examples. So it proves that looking good doesn’t have anything to do with a person’s sense of humor.

If you thought you couldn’t get enough of Jon Hamm last year with Top Gun: Maverick and Confess, Fletch, this month is the start of his TV comeback. He’ll be shaking up The Morning Show Season 3 by playing a tech billionaire who’s tall, juicy and, yes, handsome. He’ll also be teaming up with Ted Lasso’s Juno Temple and Stranger Things’ Joe Keery in Fargo Season 5, where he plays Sheriff Roy Tillman. 

Not only will you see Jon Hamm on your TV screens, but he’ll have big roles in plenty of upcoming movies. In 2024, Hamm will be part of the cast of Transformers One by voicing Sentinel Prime, who was originally played by Leonard Nimoy in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. He’ll also show off his musical chops in the cast of Mean Girls: The Musical as Coach Carr. The TV/film actor looks like he has plenty of opportunities to flex his acting muscles.

The Morning Show Season 3 is off to a juicy start and, between network drama and interpersonal dynamics, this is shaping up to be its best season yet. Much of this can be attributed to the incredible performances by the all-star cast of the Apple TV+ drama, including Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup and Jennifer Aniston. This latest season introduced Jon Hamm to the cast as tech billionaire Paul Marks, who plans to onboard Aniston’s character for a mission to space. Apparently, Hamm quickly came to the producers' minds when it came time to cast the character, and Aniston had a lot to do with his hiring. 

Executive producer Kristin Hahn spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the new season of The Morning Show, and what went into the casting process. While there were a number of names in contention for different characters being introduced in the third season, Hamm was the only actor seriously considered for Paul. Based on Hahn's comments, it would seem that if they couldn't get the Mad Men alum to sign on, they may have abandoned the character all together. But Hamm's personal connection with Jennifer Aniston helped bring everything together. Hahn explained:

It’s hard to believe the two stars hadn't worked with each other until now. They seem to have similar friends, and both appear to be attracted to the same kinds of projects. For instance, both actors made appearances on 30 Rock but never at the same time. They've both also contributed to some incredible small-screen productions. So, with that in mind, it’s been an absolute blast watching them play off each other throughout the season, and they have great chemistry. It’s still early, but I'm so here for this Jon Hamm TV comeback and hoping he becomes a more permanent fixture on the series for the upcoming Morning Show Season 4 as well. 

The team behind this series has historically used current events to inform its storytelling but, this season, the writers have truly outdone themselves. The subplot surrounding tech mogul Paul's desire to have a high profile television personality participate in a space launch feels eerily familiar to another real tech billionaire with a keen interest in space exploration. While Elon Musk hasn’t been specifically named as an influence, the similarities are hard to miss. I guess if anyone is going to play a supposed version of you on screen, you could do worse than a great actor like Jon Hamm. 

Hopefully, this collaboration between Jennifer Aniston and Jon Hamm sparks a solid creative partnership that leads them to work together more. Aniston has posted plenty of behind-the scenes-photos from set, including some with Hamm, and they seemed to enjoy their time filming. While I want to see them do more together, I'm just thankful Hamm had that firm friendship with her that contributed to his casting. I'm also eager to see how the story plays out for their two characters during TMS Season 3.

Alex Levy, Bradley Jackson and the rest of the UBA gang are back for another round of the Apple TV+ drama The Morning Show, where workplace romances and real-world issues go hand-in-messy-hand to provide some titillating and often dark television. Season 3 is set to premiere on Wednesday, September 13, and while that’s exciting news for those with an Apple TV+ subscription, it’s been almost two years since we last saw the television crew in the throes of COVID. Where did we leave things and where will they pick up? Here are five things to keep in mind about The Morning Show Season 3 as it premieres. 

The Morning Show Season 3 Premieres September 13 On Apple TV+ 

The third season of the workplace drama, which Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon both star in and executive produce, is set to drop on Apple TV+ at 12:01 a.m. ET Wednesday, September 13. After waiting nearly two years — the Season 2 finale was released way back on November 18, 2021 — fans will be happy to know that the premiere will consist of the first two episodes. 

Season 3 received a 10-episode order, and after the double premiere, new episodes will be available to stream each Wednesday through the November 8 finale.

How The Morning Show Season 2 Ended 

When we last saw Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) she had finally accepted that her affair with Steve Carell’s Mitch Kessler was about to be exposed in a tell-all book, after she spent much of Season 2 trying to prevent that exact occurrence. While traveling to Italy, she contracted COVID, and in a genius (if not desperate) attempt to save both of their careers, Alex and Chip Black (Mark Duplass) broadcast her battle with the virus on the recently launched UBA+, thus making her a sympathetic figure. 

Meanwhile, Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) was in a bit of a love triangle, as she had struck up a romance with Julianna Margulies’ Laura Peterson, and the two looked to escape New York and ride out the pandemic on Laura’s ranch in Montana. Just as Bradley was leaving, however, UBA bigwig Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) showed up to profess his love for the fiery journalist.

Other UBA employees, including Mia Jordan (Karen Pittman), Stella Bak (Greta Lee) and Yanko Flores (Néstor Carbonell) were left trying to figure out how, exactly, one could run a news organization with everyone in quarantine. Clearly, we’ll be seeing a time jump when Season 3 premieres, however, we don’t know how close to the current day we’ll get, or how relevant these cliffhangers will still be in the new season.

Jon Hamm Joins The Season 3 Cast, And There's A New Showrunner 

The main players listed above will all return to The Morning Show Season 3, save for Steve Carell, whose character shockingly died in Season 2. In addition to the familiar faces of UBA, we’ll also be introduced to some new characters. 

Mad Men star Jon Hamm is having a TV comeback of sorts, as he joins the fray as big money man Paul Marks. The actor said his storyline with Jennifer Aniston’s Alex will be “juicy,” and I can’t wait to see the sparks fly between the tech billionaire and the ruthless newswoman.

Tig Notaro will also appear in the show’s third season, per Deadline, as Amanda Robinson, Paul Marks’ chief of staff. Nicole Beharie will play newbie UBA staffer Christina Hunter, and Natalie Morales will appear as Stella’s best friend from college. 

Possibly the biggest shakeup on The Morning Show’s production was the announcement in January 2022 that Charlotte Stoudt was replacing Kerry Ehrin as showrunner of the drama. Stoudt previously worked on series including Fosse/Verdon, Homeland and House of Cards, and the move was part of an overall multi-year deal between her and Apple TV+. Ehrin, meanwhile, served as a consultant for the upcoming season, while continuing to develop new series for the network. 

UBA’s Future Will Be Thrown Into Question And Private Truths Revealed Amid Cyberattack 

One of the biggest questions going into Season 3 is which real-world problems are going to be at the center of the UBA drama. The first season discussed the #MeToo movement, opening with Mitch’s firing amid sexual misconduct allegations, and the second season was set in early 2020 at the onset of the pandemic. The third season's preview, which you can view at the top of this page, shows the characters back in the office, not wearing masks, so it’s probably safe to say the worst of COVID has passed. As for what we can expect, Apple’s official synopsis tells us: 

That’s pretty vague, but we get a little more information from the trailer. It appears Bradley is now anchoring the evening news, as she’s shown in the studio, with a presumably fully recovered Alex still holding down the fort before sunrise. Financial issues seem to still be afoot for the network, and my money’s on a certain Jon Hamm-shaped billionaire to be the knight who rides in to save the day. 

Everything is thrown into chaos in the trailer, when the station gets hit by a cyberattack — per Bradley’s somber on-air announcement — and I’m guessing this is where private truths become public knowledge.  

The Morning Show Has Already Been Renewed For Season 4 

Despite what fate meets the cast of the fictional Morning Show, it seems the network will survive in one form or another to report the news another day. A fourth season of the popular Apple TV+ series was confirmed back in April, with the streamer making the Season 4 announcement at the same time it let viewers know Season 3 would be premiering in the fall. That did little to make the time go faster, but thankfully our long wait is over. 

The first two episodes of The Morning Show will be available on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, September 13, and be sure to keep up with all of the other upcoming premieres by taking a peek at our 2023 TV schedule. 

It’s been a pretty good year for actor Jon Hamm. The man’s still riding pretty high after appearing in Top Gun: Maverick, and on top of that, Hamm found himself getting married not too long ago. But if you Mad Men fans thought that the man formerly known as Don Draper had turned his back on television, you’d be wrong. In fact, he has two gigs slated for the 2023 TV schedule, with the first one launching pretty soon on this month’s lineup.

Jon Hamm’s The Morning Show Character Is Set To Shake Up Season 3

As promised upon the announcement of The Morning Show’s big Season 3 changes, things are going to get pretty interesting. With September 13th’s big premiere event comes an intriguing new character: a “tech billionaire” named Paul Marks. Executive Producer Mimi Leder described Hamm’s character in the following terms during an interview with EW:

From the sound of it, Jon Hamm and Jennifer Aniston are about to get pretty close in The Morning Show’s latest round of dramatics. That alone could probably keep the man’s fans satisfied, as Season 3 is set to run until November 8th, the date of Season 3’s big finale. But what if I told you that you wouldn’t have to wait too much longer past that point for your next slice of Hamm? 

Fargo Season 5 Pits Jon Hamm Against Some Streaming Heavy Hitters

Among the various facts that make up what we know about Fargo Season 5 is the knowledge that Jon Hamm will be playing a role in the darkly comic crime anthology. As Sheriff Roy Tillman, Hamm is going to be teamed with two of the streaming landscape’s heavy hitters: Juno Temple from Ted Lasso and Joe Keery of Stranger Things fame. 

With Keery playing Roy’s son “Gator,” and Temple taking on the role of a woman who’s caught the eyes of the law, there’s a lot of potential excitement ahead. Try arguing against that possibility after reading how Hamm’s sheriff is described In FX’s official synopsis for Fargo Season 5: 

Adept at comedy, drama and pure menace, Jon Hamm looks like he’ll be flexing all of his acting muscles with his big fall TV season returns. Just as we promised, you won’t have to wait too long to see the results, as The Morning Show Season 3 kicks off the Season of Hamm on September 13th. Keep in mind, you’ll need an Apple TV+ subscription to join that party. 

Meanwhile, FX and Hulu viewers will be able to dive straight into Fargo Season 5, which is set to premiere a little later in the year on November 21. And of course, if you want to dig back into the bittersweet drama that is Mad Men, all seven seasons are currently streaming free with ads through Freevee.

Amid the list of credits on his acting resume, Jon Hamm’s role as Don Draper on the hit AMC drama Mad Men may be his most iconic thus far. When the show ended after seven seasons in 2015, Draper’s personal journey ended with the man finding peace on a beach in California, leaving behind the life we saw him tear down and rebuild. So it’s ironic that not only did Hamm marry his series co-star, Anna Osceola, at the location where their characters met, but that same spot happened to be a huge part of the series finale.

Reporting from TMZ noted that the two stars married at Anderson Canyon in Big Sur, which happened to be the location where Jon Hamm's disillusioned ad exec finds himself during most of the final episode, “Person to Person.” The couple had been dating for roughly three years, which only happened after meeting on the series finale in 2015. Just as this place was the capstone to Don Draper’s personal journey in creator Matthew Weiner’s pop culture landmark, it’s now just as memorable for two of the actors who helped tie it all together.

The Mad Men finale saw Don Draper’s journey end at a wellness retreat located at this natural wonder, and he almost leaves at one point in the episode. If it wasn’t for a woman at the front desk named Clementine, played by Anna Osceola, he might have actually succeeded. But thanks to her convincing him to actually give the place a shot, Don finds piece; and supposedly one last iconic ad campaign for Coca Cola. At least, that’s what “Person to Person’s” final scene seemed to imply.

As if that wasn’t enough of a hint that the AMC show is an important and respected thread in the relationship of Anna Osceola and Jon Hamm, two further details in the report of this whirlwind wedding will have fans smiling to themselves. Roger Sterling himself, actor John Slattery, was present for the festivities. So the boys that raised hell at Sterling Cooper through all its iterations found themselves together for one more hurrah. One could imagine that photos of those two raising a glass together would go for a pretty penny on the open market.

But perhaps the one choice that seems the most peculiar is the fact that the newlywed couple chose Nancy Sinatra’s “You Only Live Twice” as the song they walked up to the altar with. While that’s most notable as one of the themes from the James Bond movies, it’s also a song that plays in their show's Season 5 finale “The Phantom.”

While it’s a period of transition for the Mad Men gang as the agency is about to expand, it’s also a moment that seems to suggest that Don’s relatively fresh relationship with Megan (Jessica Paré) is about to see some rocky shores. However, the spirit of transition is more than likely the message this was intended to invoke.

With the happy couple now wed, the Hamm/Osceola union opens the door to a new life for both parties involved. And if you really think about it, pledging to only live twice is kind of romantic, as it’s another way of saying that this marriage is for keeps. Just in a cool, ‘60s-inspired way that’s definitely fitting with the world of Don Draper.

Jon Hamm fans should keep their Prime Video subscription current for two big reasons. First, if you’re nostalgic to revisit the world of Mad Men, you can do so through the platform’s Freevee service. But if you’re ready for something new, then you’ll want to see Hamm return as Gabriel in Good Omens; which will return to delight audiences starting July 28th. Gone Girl is one of Ben Affleck’s top-ranked movies where he played the husband of a woman who went missing and was suspected of being responsible for it. However, did you know that role was originally going to be played by Mad Men’s Jon Hamm? This St. Louis Cardinals fan not only revealed why he couldn’t star in Gone Girl, but he also explained that he picked on Red Sox fan Ben Affleck over the fact that he had to wear a Cardinals hat for the part.

You know it’s real acting if you play a character who represents your opposing baseball team. It’s never been any secret that Bostonian Ben Affleck is a Red Sox fan. In fact, he helped his wife Jennifer Lopez return to Red Sox games with this MLB team positively reacting on TikTok to their relationship. So, when the actor was cast as the male lead in David Fincher’s Gone Girl, he had to play a man from Missouri and the lead suspect when his wife goes missing. He also had to play a man who wears a Cardinals hat. Originally, Jon Hamm was confirmed play this role, but he explained on Watch What Happens Live why he had to drop out of the movie, and the irony of being replaced by an actor who is a Red Sox fan.

Having to trade in his Red Sox cap for a Cardinals hat while filming in Missouri must have been difficult, especially considering how die-hard baseball fans can get. Although the Top Gun: Maverick actor may have to re-watch the movie again to know that Affleck actually doesn’t wear a Cardinals hat for the movie. In the scene where suspected criminal Nick tries to keep a low profile, you see him wearing a New York Mets cap. It would have been really funny if this was a compromise made for the movie so Affleck could at least show his disdain for the Yankees, however, it's probably just a simple detail with no deeper meaning. So, it looks like the Air actor didn’t sell his soul to the Yankees (or the Cardinals) to play Nick Dunne, but he still wasn't able to wear that classic red B on his hat. 

As for why John Hamm wasn't in the film, he couldn’t take on the lead for the Gillian Flynn adaptation because he was scheduled to make a new season of Mad Men. Since filming for Gone Girl interfered with Mad Men’s split-in-half final season, it would have been a scheduling nightmare for him to do both. 

While Gone Girl was not a movie Jon Hamm could add to his filmography, this actor has gone on to star in some great projects after playing Don Draper for seven seasons. A few notable roles were when he played one of the villainous thieves of the criminal underworld in Baby Driver and chased his friends in the comedy film Tag. We also can’t forget him being added to the cast of Top Gun: Maverick as Vice Admiral Beau "Cyclone" Simpson, because he had an A+ reaction when offered the part and was ready to fire his agents if the deal didn’t work out. So, I'd say he's doing really well.

Jon Hamm could have represented his St. Louis Cardinals in the movie Gone Girl, but completing Don Draper’s journey in Mad Men had to come first. While Ben Affleck didn’t exactly suffer taking on the male lead role, I’m sure the Red Sox fan having to wear the hat of a New York baseball team wasn’t his favorite part of shooting. Top Gun: Maverick took the world by storm last year, as many people basked in the nostalgia of Top Gun and fell in love with this new cast of characters. It was one of the rare theatrical triumphs last year, and audiences were dazzled by the real plane stunt sequences. Tom Cruise was a major reason for the film’s success, as the actor was very specific in how the film got made, pushing to make it the best possible. Jon Hamm recently opened up about his experience working on the film and its success, noting how he was inspired by Cruise’s treatment of the younger actors in the cast. 

The Mad Men alum sat down with comedian Bill Maher, to chat about the legacy sequel on the Club Random podcast. The conversation soon turned to Cruise, who called Hamm when he agreed to do the movie. The Emmy winner revealed: 

Maher didn’t seem surprised Hamm got such a gracious phone call, saying that Cruise was a one-of-a-kind talent, who never ignores the details. The 30 Rock vet couldn’t have agreed more as he was emphatic about his experience working with the Jerry Maguire star. He explained how involved Cruise was with the production process, saying:

It's nice to hear that everything about working on Maverick lived up to Hamm’s expectations. The actor went on to explain how impressed he was with Cruise’s openness to working with younger actors. While veteran movie stars can be dismissive towards younger talent, that didn’t apply to the Jack Reacher star. Hamm talked about Cruise’s openness, and collaborative spirit, detailing:

Being a brand new actor in such a big movie like Top Gun: Maverick must be incredibly daunting. According to Hamm, the Oscar nominee did everything he could to make sure the newbies felt comfortable and adjusted to the new environment. 

Cruise’s role as a producer must’ve helped this attitude apply to all aspects of the process too. Establishing such a supportive working environment seemed to be a huge reason Hamm had such a great time working on the movie, and Glen Powell agrees. The “Hangman” actor has previously echoed Hamm’s sentiment, revealing Cruise would often offer him advice to get through the difficult production. 

Tom Cruise isn’t the only veteran actor who has taken time to support new performers making their big screen debut. Rina Sawayama recently opened up about how Keanu Reeves was a supportive presence on John Wick 4, making the experience a welcoming one for first-time actors. Tom Hanks also revealed that in Saving Private Ryan, he did his best to prepare the other actors for some of the crazy and intense sequences they were about to shoot. I'm sure actors often remember their first time on a movie set, and having an experienced star there to support them during the process is something they will likely never forget.

In 2004 we met the Mean Girls and fell in love with them, despite the Plastics being mean, for lack of a better term. Then in 2017, that movie premiered as a musical on Broadway. Now, it’s coming back to the screen in its musical form, and with an (almost) entirely new cast. From Broadway talent to Disney princesses, the Mean Girls has cast is diverse and talented, plus, the film also features some legendary comedy actors joining the young performers. So, with the out on the 2024 movie schedule, let’s discuss this crew Tina Fey and co. have put together for the latest version of the early ‘00s classic. 

Angourie Rice 

Angourie Rice will be taking on the lead role in the Mean Girls musical, as Cady Heron, who was played by Lindsay Lohan in the movie and originated by Erika Henningsen on Broadway. 

While Rice is only 22, she’s been in a wide range of projects, including the 2023 TV schedule’s The Last Thing He Told Me. You also might recognize her if you’ve seen the Marvel movies in order, as she played Betty Brant in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy. Along with these projects, she also starred alongside the Emmy-winning cast of Mare of Easttown. 

Reneé Rapp

Reneé Rapp is the only person in the cast who will be reprising a role from the Broadway musical. She belted her heart out on stage as Regina George in 2018, following in the footsteps of Taylor Louderman. Now, she’ll be taking on the role of the queen of the Plastics again, playing the same character originated on screen by Rachel McAdams. 

On screen Rapp is best known for her role in the Sex Lives of College Girls cast, where she plays Leighton Murray. Along with her work on Broadway and for HBO, she’s also a musician and has released multiple songs and an album, including her viral hit “Too Well.” 

Auli'i Cravalho 

Auli'i Cravalho has some big shoes to fill as she’s been cast as Janis Ian, Cady’s friend who tries to take down the Plastics. Janis has some massive songs in the musical, see “I’d Rather Be Me,” and they were sung brilliantly by Barrett Wilbert Weed, who originated the role on Broadway. 

Cravalho will also be following up Lizzy Caplan’s performance in the movie, and, she’s more than qualified to do it. You’ll likely recognize this young actress as the voice of Moana in Moana. She made a splash with that movie, and has since gone on to work on other projects, like Amazon Prime’s The Power, where she plays an angsty teenager with big power and an attitude kind of like Janis’.

Jaquel Spivey 

Playing Janis' iconic BFF and the mastermind behind the line “You go Glen Coco,” will be Jaquel Spivey. He will be following in the footsteps of Daniel Franzese (movie) and Grey Henson (Broadway) who played the hilarious Damien in their respective versions of Mean Girls. 

Jaquel Spivey is relatively new on the scene, however, he made a big impact early as he starred in the Pulitzer Prize and Tony-winning musical A Strange Loop as the lead, Usher. While he’s certainly made a name for himself on stage, the Mean Girls movie will be his first feature film. 

Bebe Wood 

Gretchen Wieners is the inventor of “fetch,” the queen of gossip, and a self-proclaimed “disco ball,” and in this musical adaptation, she will be played by Bebe Wood, per Deadline. Gretchen was originated by Lacey Chabert in the movie, and Ashley Park on Broadway, so this young actress is joining an iconic line of performers to take on Regina George’s right-hand woman.

Bebe Wood is best known for her role as Lake in the Hulu series Love Victor. She’s also known for her voice work in the Trollhunters franchise. 

Avantika  

Her “name is Karen,” and she “may not be smart,” but boy is she funny. In the movie, Karen is played brilliantly by Amanda Seyfried, and and on Broadway, Kate Rockwell shows off her range and comedic chops as the character. Avantika will be the next actress stepping into the shoes of Karen, according to Deadline, the woman who cares a lot about her Halloween costume, and has “ESPN or something.” 

Avantika has actually starred alongside some of her Mean Girls castmates in various projects. Both she and Angourie Rice were in the cast of Rebel Wilson’s Senior Year, and she guest starred in an episode of Sex Lives of College Girls with Reneé Rapp. She’s also starred in the TV movie Spin.

Christopher Briney 

He’s the reason October 3 is Cady Heron’s favorite day, and he's the coolest boy in school, he’s Aaron Samuels. Played by Jonathan Bennett in the movie and Kyle Selig on stage, Christopher Briney is now set to play the North Shore High School heartthrob, according to Deadline.

Considering Briney plays many girls' YA crush Conrad in the cast of The Summer I Turned Pretty, this seems like a great role for the young actor. Along with the hit Amazon Prime show, Briney has also appeared in the movie Daliland and a few shorts, Mean Girls will be his first major motion picture.

Tina Fey 

One of the two people reprising their roles from the original Mean Girls movie will be Tina Fey. While Kerry Butler took a turn as the math teacher (among other characters) in the musical, the writer of both the movie, the musical’s book and this musical movie will be returning as Mrs. Norbury, as she explained on Late Night with Seth Meyers. 

While Tina Fey has some magnificent projects, like 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live, one of her most iconic movies is Mean Girls. 

Tim Meadows

The other actor reprising their role from the original movie, as Fey announced on Meyers’ show, will be Tim Meadows as Principal Duvall. While North Shore High’s principal was played by Rick Younger in the musical, and this SNL vet will be coming back as the students’ principal for the movie musical.

Busy Philipps 

In the musical movie for Mean Girls, Busy Philipps will be taking on the role of Mrs. George, per Deadline. Following in the footsteps of Amy Poehler in the movie, and Kerry Butler on Broadway, Philipps will play the iconic track suit-wearing mother of Regina George. 

Recently Philipps has been playing Summer Dutkowsky in the cast of Girls5eva, which Tina Fey is an executive producer for. She’s also starred in movies including White Chicks, Made of Honor and He’s Just Not That Into You. 

Jenna Fischer

The other mother of this movie, Cady’s mom Ms. Heron, will be played by Jenna Fischer, Deadline reported. Our protagonist’s mom was played by SNL alum Ana Gasteyer in the first movie, and Kerry Butler also played her on Broadway, along with Mrs. George and Ms. Norbury. Now, Fischer will step into the role. 

You likely know Jenna Fischer from her time as part of The Office cast, where she played Pam. Since then she has starred in a few TV shows here and there, including Splitting Up Together, and now she co-hosts The Office re-watch podcast, Office Ladies, with Angela Kinsey. 

Jon Hamm 

Joining the cast in a small, yet hilarious role, will be Jon Hamm, as he’s set to play Coach Carr, per THR. The coach was played by Dwayne Hill in the movie, and he actually isn’t in the stage version, so it will be fun to see how the coach gets worked back into the story.

Hamm, who is best known for leading the Mad Men cast and being part of the Top Gun: Maverick ensemble, is a super funny dude, and I’d imagine he’ll bring the laughs, just like he did in Bridesmaids and 30 Rock. 

Overall, the cast of the Mean Girls musical is stacked. Filled with up-and-coming talent as well as beloved actors from Fey’s comedy sphere, we’re definitely in for a treat with this movie-turned musical-turned movie musical.  

Although there hasn’t been a lack of animated Transformers adventures on TV over the years, movie-wise, it’s all been live-action offerings since the main Transformers film series kicked off in 2007. That will soon change though, as there’s an animated movie on the way that will explore the origins of the Autobots and Decepticons on the planet Cybertron. As of today, not only do we know what this upcoming movie is officially called, its main cast has been revealed too, with Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson among the actors who are ready to roll out.

This news comes straight from Paramount Pictures’ presentation at CinemaCon, with the first big reveal being that this movie will be called Transformers One. Hemsworth will voice Optimus Prime in the prequel, and Johansson will voice Elita. Their castmates include Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron, Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion. Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, had this to say about the project in an official statement:

While this will actually be the second animated Transformers movie to be released in theaters since there was 1986’s The Transformers: The Movie, Transformers One is directly tied to the cinematic Transformers continuity that’s been going for more than a decade and a half now. Transformers One marks Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson’s first time working together outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where they respectively played Thor and Black Widow. All these actors have prior voice acting experience, including Keegan-Michael Key being most recently heard as Toad in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Now we’ll get to hear these six actors’ takes on some of the popular robots in disguise.

Behind the scenes, Toy Story 4’s Josh Cooley is directing Transformers One off a script written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. The title and casting news comes just hours after the next Transformers movie, Rise of the Beasts, dropped a new trailer. While there are other movies in development for the franchise, this animated flick will allow moviegoers to venture further into the past then ever before and see what life on Cybertron was like before war broke out and its robotic denizens came to Earth, be it to simply find a new home or conquer humanity.

Transformers One arrives in theaters on July 19, 2024. Since the early '60s, Pop-Tarts have been the go-to breakfast dish for anybody needing a quick meal before heading out the door. I guess it was only a matter of time before a movie was made, though who would've thought it would come decades later from Jerry Seinfeld? The iconic comedian directed Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story, which will eventually become available to anyone with a Netflix subscription, and in addition to being a part of it, he's also brought on some famous stars. 

The cast list for Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story is unbelievably stacked. A look down this list will show a who's who in comedy and get readers excited for this upcoming movie. Let's dive in and talk about some of the big names who will take part in this comedy movie. Full disclosure, we don't know the roles any of these actors and actresses are playing, but seeing them all together has me very excited about this project. 

Jerry Seinfeld

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will star in Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story, which highlights the competition between Post and Kellogg's to produce a breakfast pastry in the early 1960s. Seinfeld is most known for his self-titled hit series, as well as his successful stand-up career. 

Melissa McCarthy

Melissa McCarthy is, without a doubt, one of the funniest women working in film. Whether it's Spy, Bridesmaids or any of her other notable movies, McCarthy is always on point with her ability to seamlessly meld quick wit with physical comedy. Hopefully all of that is happening in Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story, but we can only wait and see. 

Jim Gaffigan

Stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan might be primarily known for his stage work, but he's had a pretty healthy career in both film and television. Readers might remember his TV Land series The Jim Gaffigan Show or some of the various other movies and shows he's played a small role in, one maybe you've heard some of his voice work over the years, like as Thunderbolt in Stargirl Season 2.

Amy Schumer

Amy Schumer turned down doing the Barbie movie, but she'll be in Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story in an undisclosed role. In addition to a highly-successful career in stand-up comedy, Schumer has found in just about every aspect of entertainment from film and television. 

Hugh Grant

Hugh Grant is an acting icon, and while he may not be the first person that comes to mind in a traditional comedy, he's had roles in quite a few entertaining ones over the years. One of my favorites had to be his recent cameo in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, but there are many other examples worth checking out. 

James Marsden

With Westworld officially in the rearview, James Marsden is in the cast of Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story. Marsden's career in film and television spans everywhere from X-Men to Enchanted. Having him aboard is a gift, and I expect his role will be a good one. 

Jack McBrayer

Jack McBrayer has come a long way from his days on 30 Rock, though a lot of the things folks love about his role on that comedy show are still present in some of his more recent works. I don't know officially what to expect from McBrayer, but I wouldn't be surprised if his positive-leaning Southern charm he's known for is on full display in whatever role he's been given. 

Thomas Lennon

It's hard to see Thomas Lennon and not see anything other than Lieutenant Jim Dangle of Reno 911. It's a credit to Lennon that his character has had the sort of longevity to still be relevant in 2023, though I'm sure we'll see him play someone entirely different in Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story. 

Adrian Martinez

Actor Adrian Martinez has popped around Hollywood on the film and television side in various roles since the early '90s. 2023 will be a big year for him with an appearance in Renfield, and it's possible we'll see Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story arrive then as well. 

Bobby Moynihan

Saturday Night Live veteran Bobby Moynihan has been added to cast of Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story. This is just another notch in the belt for Moynihan's growing film career and his already-impressive string of television roles. Given the amount of voice-acting the actor's done in recent years, I almost wonder if he might be a spokesperson for Pop-Tarts or something along those lines in this upcoming movie. 

Max Greenfield

Between his roles on New Girl and The Neighborhood, it's easy to see why any comedy would want to bring on Max Greenfield. He's a natural talent who also proved he has some dramatic acting skills, as well with projects like The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. Hopefully he'll get a solid role in this film to further open up his career to other big roles. 

Christian Slater

Christian Slater's film and acting credits can't be summarized in a brief blurb, but luckily, he's enough of a household name we shouldn't have to run down the list. Suffice it to say that everyone should be thrilled he's in Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story, regardless of what he's doing. 

Sarah Cooper

Stand-up comedian Sarah Cooper will join the cast of Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story, and she's definitely one of the up-and-coming talents on this cast list. Anyone unfamiliar with her work should certainly check out her Netflix special Sarah Cooper: Everything's Fine to get ready for her upcoming performance in this movie. 

Rachael Harris

Lucifer fans should know actress Rachael Harris quite well, as she spent years on the main cast as Dr. Linda Martin. She's also had roles on numerous acclaimed comedies like Frasier and Ghosts, so she can bring a lot to this comedy film. 

Cedric Yarbrough

Cedric Yarbrough has done quite a bit in Hollywood throughout his career, though I daresay he's held any roles quite as prolific as his role as Deputy Jones on Reno 911. Now he's a part of Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story, and hopefully ready to wow the world with whatever he'll be doing in this comedy. 

Maria Bakalova

Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova really burst out into Hollywood following Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and has slowly worked her way to larger roles in Hollywood. Her role in this movie is on the heels of her role as Cosmo the Spacedog on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, so 2023 could be a big year for the actress. 

Kyle Dunnigan

Stand-up comedian Kyle Dunnigan will appear Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story, and he'll join a lot of former co-stars in the process. Dunnigan was known for his role as "Craig" on Reno 911 and was a writer on Inside Amy Schumer. Suffice it to say he probably had a lot of friends on set. 

Peter Dinklage

Actor Peter Dinklage has jumped through a lot of genres in his career and proven he can do anything from fantasy projects like Game of Thrones to comedy outings like Elf. There's no telling what he'll be up to in Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story, but knowing Dinklage's talents, I'm sure it'll be good. 

Jon Hamm

Jon Hamm is rolling right on from his role in Top Gun: Maverick into Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story. It's quite a genre jump for Hamm, but no doubt the Emmy-winning actor is game for whatever the comedy brings his way.  

John Slattery

John Slattery will join his former Mad Men co-star in Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story. Though we know little about his role, Slattery is electric in almost any role he's taken on, and I wouldn't expect this comedy to be any different for him. 

Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story will stream on Netflix, but we're still waiting for an official release date. Hopefully, the movie will be as satisfying as a warm Pop-Tart, and it's hard to believe it won't be with this talented cast. 

Marc Maron may interview more Hollywood A-listers than anyone in the business. His massively popular podcast, WTF with Marc Maron, was on the ground floor of the podcast craze, and in the process cornered a massive part of the market when it came to both comedy and celebrity interviews. However, podcasts weren’t always accepted as a legitimate form of entertainment, and Maron recently told me a great story about Bryan Cranston and Jon Hamm showing up to record in his garage. 

I recently caught up with Maron to discuss his new HBO comedy special From Bleak To Dark. When reflecting on the early days of his now-famous podcast, he said this:

So it sounds like the Hamm seal of approval made Bryan Cranston feel more comfortable about venturing into Marc Maron’s garage. These days, of course, we can assume that the comedian has a more legitimate studio, but back then, garages were a standard podcasting location.

Maron must have made plenty of friends in the industry, as those are some huge names to be getting in the early days. It makes sense that Jon Hamm would be down, as the actor notoriously doesn’t take himself too seriously. He famously gave up a huge chunk of his Fletch salary to make sure the movie got made, and he almost fired his agents after they suggested Top Gun: Maverick was below his pay grade. Bryan Cranston is, of course, also a beloved actor, who has plenty to watch on streaming if you’re a fan of the Breaking Bad star.

As for Maron, he has plenty going on outside of podcasting. He recently starred in the Academy Award-nominated film To Leslie, which thankfully you can stream now. His performance even received props from major stars like Kate Winslet, despite the awards snubs.
