It’s been a few years since a Fast & Furious film raced into cinemas, though it finally seems that the eleventh and final installment in the car-centric saga is officially on track. With that, franchise lead Vin Diesel and the cast are looking towards reprising their respective roles. Series veteran Jordana Brewster also seems to be looking forward to playing Mia Toretto again. However, Brewster also has one big desire when it comes to that final movie – which is called Fast Forever – and, personally, I really hope this comes to pass.

Brewster recently reunited with some of her F&F cohorts at the Cannes Film Festival, where The Fast & the Furious was screened in honor of its 25th anniversary. At some point during the festival, Brewster sat down with Variety and discussed her time with the franchise as well as its impending final film. On a previous occasion, the fan-favorite actress shared her hope for Fast 11 to take the series back to its “roots” in the LA street-racing scene. During this recent chat, though, Brewster said her “biggest wish” involved Mia:

Mia – the younger sister of Diesel’s Dominic Toretto – appears in the vast majority of the films, though the size of her role varies by movie. In many cases, Mia can be ancillary to the main action and, as Brewster notes, she mostly reacts to what’s linked to the danger her brother and the other members of their “family” get into. The character does have a fun fight scene in Fast X (which is streamable with a Peacock subscription), but even that serves as her simply “reacting” to what occurs around her.

With all of that in mind, I can certainly see what Brewster means about wanting more for Mia and, over the years, the star has been candid about having to “fight” for more material. It would be great to see Mia really get in on the action again as she’s done in the best Fast & Furious movies. To that point, the Heart Eyes alum spoke about her appreciation for Mia’s role in 2011’s Fast Five (which some fans think is the best F&F movie):

Of course, there’s more to Mia than her ability to drive fast cars and kick butt whenever necessary. She’s also a mother to two children she shares with Brian O'Conner (who was played by the late Paul Walker). It would seem that’s another aspect of Mia’s characterization that Brewster would also like to see more of:

Jordana Brewster seems to be an ardent fan of this franchise herself as evidenced by her willingness to share her own hopes for it. During a previous interview, she didn’t hold back her hope that the long-rumored, all-female Fast spinoff would still come to fruition. She also revealed several years ago that she wanted Fast alum Eva Mendes to return as Monica Fuentes. While I’d be down for all those developments, let’s just hope that right away, Mia gets her due in Fast Forever, which hits theaters on March 17, 2028.

Paul Walker, beloved for playing Brian O’Conner in the Fast & Furious movies and three decades of work as an actor, sadly died in a car accident at the age of 40 back in 2013. But the mark he left on the world and those close to him will never be forgotten. So it’s no surprise that on his birthday he’s getting tributes in his honor left and right, particularly from his Fast family.

Walker’s birthday was on September 12, 1973, which means he would have been 52 today if he had lived. Check out what his daughter, Meadow Walker, said on his day:

Meadow Walker is 26 years old, and she posted the sweetest throwback photo of her and her father to celebrate. It’s a sweet picture of the pair that left Vin Diesel reacting with a “🙏🏽” emoji. Meadow is known for continuing her father's legacy by founding The Paul Walker Foundation in 2015, which offers grants to marine biology students since the Fast & Furious star was very passionate about conservation.

Diesel also shared a post of his own on Instagram that features a black and white photo of the pair of actors. He called Walker by his Fast & Furious name when wishing him a Happy Birthday before saying the following:

Vin Diesel went on to say how fans are “patiently waiting” for “family…to come home.” The tribute seems to be a tease for the next Fast & Furious movie’s reported inclusion of Brian O’Conner after Diesel teased Dom and Brian would be reuniting. Diesel also paid tribute to his “brother” by saying his legacy “lives in the space where love meets forever” and said his calling was helping create the franchise. He continued:

While the 10th anniversary of Paul Walker’s death passed in 2023, Brewster shared how fans can honor his memory by giving to The Paul Walker Foundation as it passes a decade by buying a T-shirt on the foundation’s website. The T-shirts were created by his daughter to honor “carrying Paul’s legacy.”

Brewster and Diesel are expected to return to Fast X: Part 2 to cap off the franchise in the near future, but for now, you can watch all the movies with a Prime Video subscription and look forward to the Fast & Furious roller coaster coming to Universal Studios Hollywood next year. Paul Walker’s legacy lives on through his body of work and all the lives he touched.

What happens when the best horror movies and rom coms inspires a new scary movie villain? Heart Eyes! Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we have a new and very twisted story that takes place during the holiday dedicated to love to unpack. Following the Heart Eyes Killer stalking the characters of the latest of upcoming horror movies, CinemaBlend spoke to the filmmakers about creating the right ending that has left us wanting more.

The Heart Eyes Killer Reveal, And Why It Was The Right Ending

While one would assume the Heart Eyes Killer would just be a huge Valentine’s Day hater who had their heart broken a few too many times, that’s not what is revealed at the end of the movie. We learn that a weirdly kinky throuple are all behind the mask (centrally including Jordana Brewster’s Detective Shaw), and the reason they were stalking Mason Gooding’s Jay and Olivia Holt’s Ally, despite them not being a couple, was because of the unforgettable kiss they shared early in the night. While speaking to director Josh Ruben, he had this to say about the startling conclusion:

As Heart Eyes kind of underlines throughout its runtime, everyone has a kink, and for the Heart Eyes Killer, that’s killing couples off. Even though Jay and Ally weren’t together on Valentine’s Day, the throuple that makes up the killer could sense their chemistry a mile away and decided to make them their target of the evening. It’s good that Jay and Ally are able to team up and kill off Heart Eyes themselves, but Holt could not handle all the violence. As she recalled about filming Brewster’s death scene:

In order to survive, Jay and Ally are able to defend themselves – giving Gooding yet another horror movie he’s survived, and in the process of running for their lives, they find love with each other. Pretty cute, right?

How The Heart Eyes Ending Leaves The Door Open For A Sequel

But could the Heart Eyes Killer strike again? Josh Ruben said that the filmmakers weren’t interested in leaving audiences hanging at the end, but rather leaning into the rom-com of it all with the scene of Jay and Ally in the convertible stepping up their relationship. As he continued:

When I asked the writers, which consist of Michael Kennedy, Chris Landon and Philip Murphy, about why they decided not to tease a sequel, here’s what they had to say:

Of course, we’ll have to see how Heart Eyes does and if the movie, which I personally had a blast with, hits with audiences before they go forward with more Heart Eyes movies. It does feel like it could be a franchise like the Scream movies, where the killer is someone different every time should it actually become successful. As Ruben also shared:

February has always been a month we associate with romantic comedies, but when it comes to 2025 movies, there’s honestly a lot more upcoming horror movies on the calendar for fans to get excited about. For someone like myself, who actually has a lot of love for both genres, I definitely recommend this weekend’s new release Heart Eyes. I had the chance to watch it early in order to speak to the cast and filmmakers for CinemaBlend, and I was so impressed with how it impressed me on both fronts.

Sandwiched between the releases of Sophie Thatcher’s Companion and the new Stephen King movie The Monkey, there’s a very fun (and funny) slasher called Heart Eyes. It’s definitely giving Scream – so if you are a fan of good-time horror movies that are also great for date nights, it might be your thing, too. Now, for the purposes of this article, I won’t be spoiling Heart Eyes. So feel free to read on as I share my take on the romantic slasher film. I need to talk about it.

Heart Eyes Is A Rom-Com Inside A Horror Movie, And I Had So Much Fun With It

Heart Eyes is about a fictionalized serial killer called the Heart Eyes Killer who has been haunting couples on Valentine’s Day for the past few years by killing them off. The movie specifically follows a recently single young marketing associate named Ally (played by Olivia Holt) whose campaign has gone totally wrong ahead of the commercial holiday. Mason Gooding’s Jay swoops in to assist her, but that means their red alert business meeting occurs during the dinner rush on Valentine’s Day, and makes them Heart Eyes’ next target.

So Ally and Jay end up spending their V-Day running away from a dangerous murderer who is going after the wrong demo for their M.O. Meanwhile, Jordana Brewster and Devon Sawa play a pair of detectives who are on the Heart Eyes Killer’s trail. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into Heart Eyes, but was impressed me was how well it nails being a romantic comedy and horror comedy in one go.

Like, it’s genuinely such a hilarious movie that had me both swooning and wincing at the clever bloody moments. I found myself getting very sold on Heart Eyes as a new horror villain, even though I never expected him to scare me. I also found myself going “aww” at the more romantic moments. It’s honestly very impressive how the movie was able to nail both genres at once.

Heart Eyes Also Has A Solid Commentary On Romance Trends

What really works about Heart Eyes is how it handles its tone. It’s solidly twisted, but never wants you to stop having a fun, lighthearted time. The movie starts strongly with a gnarly kill involving a couple getting engaged (and doesn't ease up from there). As the movie goes along, it had me thinking about how creepy and excessive couples can get about their relationships, making them prime targets for a horror concept.

For example, if you’re in your 20s like I am, your social media timeline is most certainly filled with wedding photos upon engagement photos and such. The movie made me think about the lengths couples can go to get attention and publicize their relationships.

That especially goes for Valentine’s Day. Sometimes it can feel like a competition is secretly happening on social media where couples will do anything to have the cutest possible record of their love to the world. It can get so nauseating that it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility that some crazed villain could start targeting them to teach the whole industry a lesson. And I’ll say this: while I definitely thought Heart Eyes was going in a specific direction within its commentary, there’s a lot more to it than I thought, and that impressed me, too.

The Heart Eyes Filmmakers Told Me They Had Both Genres In Mind While Making It

When I spoke to the filmmakers behind Heart Eyes, I asked them about how their backgrounds with rom-coms and horror movies may have been tested while blending genres. As co-writer and producer Chris Landon said about working on the movie:

Landon, who famously made the Happy Death Day movies and Freaky, was brought on with his Freaky co-writer Michael Kennedy after Philip Murphy came up with the idea. Murphy had a “really bad first date” in October 2021, and after it didn’t go well and he was watching a lot of horror movies for Halloween season, he started to imagine if they would have bonded if a scary movie killer like Jason Voorhees was after them. The resident rom-com fan was really director Josh Ruben, who told me this about his connection with the genres:

I find it interesting how the filmmakers connect with rom-coms versus horror, because while you watch it, you can really feel like there’s a lot of care and attention being placed in both avenues. Like, if you have one rom-com fan and one horror fan that go see this on a date, I think both will be happy, and that’s pretty amazing.

And, I Think Heart Eyes Could Become A Valentine’s Day Tradition For Horror Fans

Now, I’m not saying Heart Eyes is the best horror movie I’ve ever seen. But it totally won my heart, and I do think if you check it out, you will have a fun time with it and maybe even recommend it. I also like that it could fill this void on what to watch if you love horror and don’t want to go for a rom-com, or vice versa. There’s a campy quality about Heart Eyes that feels rewatchable, and I know I can definitely see myself throwing it on one Valentine’s Day in the future to relish in the season in a non-traditional way.

There may be no modern film franchise that has changed so much over the course of its story as Fast & Furious. A group of characters who started out as street racers stealing DVD players are now super secret agents. Every new film in the franchise takes things to a new, even more insane, level. But Jordana Brewster would love to see the franchise return to its roots.

Brewster, who appears in the new movie Heart Eyes alongside Final Destination star Devon Sawa, compared her feelings about the Fast & Furious franchise to his thoughts about the horror series when recently speaking with Collider. She indicated a wish that the next movie would be a bit grittier than the recent entires, and that she would get to do more in it. Brewster said…

I can certainly get behind this. The expectation is that the next movie, Fast and Furious 11 or Fast X Part II or whatever it ends up being called, will be the last. That is, at least inside the core franchise, as Fast & Furious spinoffs are reportedly still in development. If that’s the case, it makes poetic (and possibly thematic) sense to see the franchise come full circle and have the last movie feel more like the first.

And I can absolutely get behind Jordana Brewster’s Mia getting a chance to kick a bit more ass in the next movie. She’s always been a great character. Unfortunately, because Mia is married to Brian, the still-living character played by the late Paul Walker, the franchise has clearly had difficulty figuring out how to keep Mia on screen while justifying that Brian needs to remain off-screen. Brewster has been trying to get Mia to do more on screen for years.

And maybe Jordana Brewster’s wish could actually come true. Recent rumors, while far from confirmed, have suggested that Vin Diesel is having trouble rounding up the money needed to make the massive, expensive, blockbuster he’s trying to produce. If these rumors are in fact true, then the final Fast & Furious movie may need to be a smaller production due to financial constraints.

Having said that, a smaller version of Fast & Furious seems unlikely at this point. The story of traveling to exotic locations around the world is part of what fans now love about it, so setting the final movie just in L.A. might be a letdown for some. Fast & Furious 11 currently has an unspecified 2026 release date.

If the original plan for Fast X’s continuation had held, we’d be talking about how the Torretto crime family would be making a grand return on the 2025 movie schedule. Alas, what we know about Fast and Furious 11 informs us that delays and the magnetic draw of releasing this potentially final chapter led to an undetermined 2026 debut. The latter reason is a sweet factor to keep in mind, as it signifies just how much this blockbuster franchise loves to wear its heart on its production sleeve. We've now seen this popping up again thanks to Vin Diesel’s heartfelt announcement that the rest of Fast X: Part 2 will be filming in Los Angeles.

This news came from a post that the Fast Saga star/producer shared to his Instagram, complete with a fitting image of Diesel embracing on-screen sister Jordana Brewster. What makes this choice appropriate is Brewster herself had asked the man himself if this project could conclude in the city of angels, with this rationale in mind:

While there’s still a fair amount of Fast X sequel drama that makes its way into the press, those unfortunate rumors seem to be leveled out by gestures such as the one seen above. It doesn’t matter if you’re family by blood or by choice, these sorts of scraps are part of the ups and downs that make life surprising.

At least the intention to film the rest of the Fast Saga's supposed swan song can be considered an “up.” There will be plenty of filmmaking professionals in need of work in the Los Angeles area, and the money spent to bring this vision to life could go a long way toward helping people rebuild in the aftermath of the devastating wildfires. That feels like exactly what Dom would have done in this scenario, which makes all this even sweeter.

Fast X can currently be streamed through a Peacock subscription, with the rest of the series cast to various sources on the streaming winds. You have plenty of time for a refresher course though, as Fast X Part 2, or whatever this blockbuster return will be named upon its arrival, doesn’t have a specific 2026 release date on the books just yet.

At the same time, one could guess that June 19, 2026 would be a hypothetical drop date. With director Louis Leterrier's reverence for The Fast and the Furious' 25th anniversary, that would get the picture in theaters in time for fans to celebrate on the exact date.

Jordana Brewster

Jordana Brewster has built her own name and reputation in Hollywood, mostly through her work in the Fast franchise, but she also comes from a very accomplished family. Her mother, Maria João, is a Brazillian legend, as she was the first Brazillian model to appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, in 1978. Brewster's grandfather, Kingman Brewster, was a giant in academia, serving as the president of Yale University from 1964 until 1977.

Zooey Deschanel

Of course, Zooey Deschanel has a famous sister, Emily, and together they have a couple of pretty famous parents. Zooey's father, Caleb Deschanel is a cinematographer who has been nominated six times for an Oscar, for his work on films like The Right Stuff and The Passion Of The Christ. Zooey and Emily's mother, Mary Jo, is also an actor, known best for playing Eileen Hayward in the Twin Peaks franchise. 

Vanessa Kirby

From starring as Princess Margaret in The Crown to playing a baddie in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, Vanessa Kirby has shown she can do just about anything on screen. Her father, Dr. Roger Kirby is a renowned doctor in the U.K., so while it might not be a Hollywood connection, Vanessa does come from a very prominent family. 

Alfie Allen

Game of Thrones star Alfie Allen has a pretty famous sister, singer Lily Allen, and a pretty famous father, Keith Allen. Keith is very well known in his native England, but American audiences will recognize him from his roles in Trainspotting, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, among others. Alfie and Lily's mother, Alison Owen, is a movie producer as well, including the 2024 Amy Winehouse biopic, Back to Black.

Josh Brolin

Josh Brolin made his film debut in The Goonies when he was 18, in 1985. After a solid, but far from remarkable, run for the next 20 years, Brolin became a legit superstar in the 2010s, eclipsing the fame of his father, James Brolin, but probably not his stepmother, Barbara Streisand.

Louisa Jacobson

If you haven't watched The Gilded Age, you need to, and when you do, you'll likely love the performance from Louisa Jacobson. Of course, you wouldn't expect less from the daughter of one of the greatest actors of all time, Meryl Streep. 

Zoey Deutch

Zoey Deutch is known for movies like Everybody Wants Some!! and Something from Tiffany's, as well as TV shows like The Politician and Ringer. Her mother, Lea Thompson is known for classics like Back To The Future, and Some Kind of Wonderful, where Thompson met Zoey's father, Howard Deutch, who directed the film. 

Lewis Pullman

Lewis Pullman has received widespread acclaim for his performance in Apple TV+'s Lessons in Chemistry. As you may have guessed by his last name, his father is none other than the great Bill Pullman, who, of course, made one of the most inspiring speeches in movie history in Independence Day. 

Jamie Lee Curtis

Jamie Lee Curtis is a true legend and she also has two legendary parents, father Tony Curtis and mother Janet Leigh. Jamie Lee is also married to a famous actor, This is Spinal Tap star Christopher Guest. One more fun fact? Jamie Lee carries an English nobility title. The Right Honourable the Lady Haden-Guest, because Christopher's full title is Christopher Haden-Guest, 5th Baron Haden-Guest.

Ben Platt

Marc Platt has been nominated for an Oscar three times as the producer of Best Picture nominees Bridge of Spies, La La Land, and The Trial of the Chicago 7. Surely, he's most proud of being a father to Pitch Perfect star Ben Platt. 

Laura Dern

Over five decades now, Laura Dern has crushed on the big and small screen. Her father, Bruce Dern, is in his incredible seventh decade of his career and her mother, Diane Ladd, has been a star for just as long. In fact, Ladd and Laura were both nominated for Oscars for their respective performances together in Rambling Rose, one of Laura Dern's best performances. 

George Clooney

It's to imagine there was ever a time when George Clooney wasn't the most famous person in the world, much less his own family, but that was the case once. George's father, Nick Clooney, was a long-time TV news anchor all over the country, including in LA. He was also a game show host in the mid-'70s. George is also nephew to the iconic Rosemary Clooney, which also made Betty Clooney an aunt to George as well. Rosemary's son, the late actor Miguel Ferrer, was also more famous than his cousin George in the '80s, after starring in Robocop and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. 

Daniel Day-Lewis

Even the great Daniel Day-Lewis comes from a famous family. The legendary actor's father was Cecil Day-Lewis, who was the one-time poet laureate of the United Kingdom, and his mother, Jill Balcon, was a well-known stage actor in the UK. Daniel Day-Lewis' maternal grandfather, Michael Balcon, helped launch the British film industry in the 1930s and '40s, as well. Acting is in his blood, for sure. 

Rob Reiner

There's no bigger name in Hollywood than Rob Reiner. Whether as an actor, director, writer, or producer, Reiner has made his name across the board. Before all that, his father, Carl Reiner, made his name doing many of the same things. Rob's mother, Estelle Reiner, is also pretty famous, having delivered the line, "I'll have what she's having," in When Harry Met Sally. 

Zosia Mamet

From Girls to The Flight Attendant, Zosia Mamet has shown herself to be quite the ensemble player on screen. Her father, iconic playwright David Mamet, is really more famous for what he's written for the stage. David has found plenty of success writing for the screen as well, penning movies like Glengarry Glen Ross (based on his play of the same name), The Untouchables, and 2001's Hannibal.

Billie Lourd

Billie Lourd got her start working with her mother, Carrie Fisher, in the Star Wars sequels. As Fisher's daughter, she's a part of a family of Hollywood royalty, with Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher as her grandparents. It's an impressive lineage! 

Bessie Carter

Bessie Carter's star turn as Prudence Featherington in Bridgerton is right on par with not one, but both of her famous parents. Bessie's father, Jim Carter, is most famous in the U.S. for playing the stern butler, Mr. Carson, on Downton Abbey. Her mother is none other than the great Imelda Staunton, who, among many other things, has starred as Dolores Umbridge in the Harry Potter series and Queen Elizabeth in the final two seasons of The Crown on Netflix. It's a lot to live up to for Bessie, but she's showing she's up to it. 

Timothée Chalamet

Dune star Timothée Chalamet's father may not be as famous as some of the parents on this list, but in some circles, he's very famous. Marc Chalamet is a French reporter who worked for Le Parisien as a correspondent and for the United Nations as an editor for UNICEF. His mother, Nicole, was also in show business for a time, as a dancer on Broadway. 

Phoebe Dynevor

Bridgerton is one of the most popular streaming shows ever and among the excellent cast is Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne Basset. U.S. audiences may not be familiar with her mother, Sally Dynevor, but in the U.K., she's one of the most famous people on TV, having played the role of Sally on the long-running Coronation Street soap opera. Sally has played the role since 1986! Phoebe's grandmother, Shirley Dynevor, was also an actress in the United Kingdom. 

Melanie Griffith

When you talk about the legendary Hollywood families, you have to mention Melanie Griffith. She is mother to Dakota Johnson, of course, with her ex Don Johnson. Griffith is also the daughter of a famous actress, the great Tippi Hedren, star of The Birds, among many other films. 

Jennifer Aniston

Friends star Jennifer Aniston comes from famous stock. Her father, John Aniston, played the character Victor Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives for an amazing 37 years, right up until his death in 2022. The Morning Show star's mother, Nancy Dow, was also an actress, though she never quite had the career of Aniston, but then again, few do. 

Jessica Capshaw

For over 200 episodes, Jessica Capshaw played Arizona Robbins on Grey's Anatomy. Before that, she started out in Hollywood working with her stepfather, Steven Spielberg. Her mother, Kate Capshaw, is also an excellent actress, of course. Talent runs in the family, like all the others on this list. 

Margaret Qualley

You might think "Margaret Qualley" does not have a last name I recognize. That's fair; her father, Paul Qualley, was a model for a time, but it's her mother, Andie McDowell, that lands Margaret on this list. She and her sister, Rainey, weren't raised in Hollywood, but instead in Asheville, NC. She still found her way into show business after attending NYU and studying ballet in New York. 

John David Washington

Denzel Washington's son, John David Washington, wasn't going to follow in his famous father's footsteps, trying his hand at professional football in the St. Louis Rams organization. Luckily for film fans, his football career didn't take off, but his Hollywood career has. BlacKkKlansman and Tenet definitely got John David out from under his father's substantial shadow, and that is a really impressive thing to even attempt, much less succeed in doing. 

Riley Keough

Anyone who is the granddaughter of the King of Rock and Roll deserves to be on this list. That's right, Riley Keough is Elvis Presley's granddaughter, and daughter to Lisa Marie. After Lisa Marie died in 2023, Keough also became the sole owner of the legendary Graceland, Elvis' home, in Memphis. It's an impressive legacy to uphold, but Keough is clearly up for the challenge. 

Hannah Einbinder

Hannah Einbinder is one of the brightest up-and-coming comedic stars in Hollywood, starring in Hacks as well as her very funny stand-up act. The apple doesn't fall from the tree, as her mother is SNL legend Laraine Newman, who was part of the original cast from 1975-1980. 

Nico Parker

Nico Parker's star is just starting to rise, having received acclaim for playing Sarah in HBO's The Last of Us. Her mother is the iconic Thandiwe Newton, so again, the apple doesn't fall from the tree in this family. Her father, Ol Parker, wrote and directed Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

As this list shows, it's not really fair to use the term "nepo baby" all the time, as all of these stars have forged their own path and careers. Sure, it helps to have the connections, and the DNA, of some talented parents, but that's far from all it takes, as these stars have shown.

Light spoilers for Netflix’s Neon lie ahead, so read on at your own risk.

Neon – one of the newest releases on Netflix's 2023 TV schedule – features a main cast composed of up-and-coming talents like Tyler Dean Flores and Emma Ferreira. However, the comedy also has a few veterans within its ranks, including Jordana Brewster. Most probably know the seasoned actress from her role as Mia Toretto in the Fast & Furious movies (which we’ve ranked). The person she plays in the new show is a lot different, though. Instead of embodying a heroic woman who’s also a wife and mother, Brewster portrays a shady and somewhat unpredictable individual. It definitely isn’t the first role you’d imagine for her, and one of the series' directors gave us some details on the decision to cast her as such a “surprising” character. 

Jordana Brewster plays Gina, a sleek and seemingly well-meaning socialite who offers to become a patron for rising reggaeton singer Santi. While the performer and his friends, Ness and Felix, are initially overjoyed over having her help, they quickly realize her other business dealings may not be all that legitimate. Considering how surprised I was to see Brewster on the show (and playing such a role at that), I had to ask director Oz Rodriguez about her casting. The veteran TV producer explained during our Zoom interview that the showrunners put a lot of thought into who they wanted to play the character. Apparently, part of what played into their decision-making was the desire to hire someone unexpected for the job: 

Make no mistake, the star is impeccable as Mia in the FF franchise, and I’m hoping she gets more time to shine in the long-gestating female-led spinoff, which she’s discussed. However, given the massive size of the stories being told, the character – and the actress herself by default – can feel somewhat limited. But when it comes to Neon, the On Our Way star really gets to flex her acting muscles a bit while acting out the material. Without getting too deep into spoilers, Gina contributes to some of the show’s uneasiest moments, and the Panama City-born star seems to have a lot of fun with that. 

The character’s antics are just one piece of the wild journey Santi and his crew embark upon when they decide to move to Miami in an attempt to break into the music industry. During the course of the 2023 TV schedule offering, the trio face their fair share of highs and lows. Oz Rodriguez had to set the tone for the show, as he directed the pilot episode. He managed to do so without worry, though, thanks in part to the lessons he learned from Saturday Night Live and other notable series. 

When it came to portraying Gina, Jordana Brewster likely leaned on past acting experiences to help guide her work. She has, after all, done much more than just play one of the Toretto “siblings” alongside Vin Diesel during the past few decades. She’s also been in films like Hooking Up and D.E.B.S., even playing a villain in that latter flick. There’s no telling what might lie ahead for Gina should the show continue, but I’m willing to bet Oz Rodriguez and his team would love to have Brewster reprise the role should the opportunity arise.

Soap Operas are not usually the first thing we think of when we think of “Prestige Television” but they have been popular since the dawn of TV and without them, some of our favorite stars might not have ever gotten their big break. In honor of that, we’ve compiled quite a list of famous actors who started out in soap operas. 

Brad Pitt (Another World)

There aren’t many bigger stars in the world than Brad Pitt. While he famously made his first mark in pop culture in Thelma & Louise, his first professional, credited acting role came on the soap Another World. The Ocean’s Eleven star played a character named Chris on two episodes in 1987. Little did anyone know just how famous he would soon be. 

Leonardo DiCaprio (Santa Barbara)

Pitt’s co-star in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio, is also one of the biggest stars in the world. Like Pitt, DiCaprio also can point to a turn on a soap opera early in his career as a launching pad. DiCaprio had a smattering of bit parts before starring in Santa Barbara, but it was five episodes on the soap that really got his career moving. 

Demi Moore (General Hospital)

In the ‘80s and ‘90s, Demi Moore was box office gold with films like St. Elmo’s Fire, A Few Good Men, and Ghost. Moore earned a then-unprecedented $12.5 million with her role in Striptease, but she got her start much more modestly as reporter Jackie Templeton in 85 episodes of General Hospital from 1982 until 1984. 

Marisa Tomei (As The World Turns)

Marisa Tomei’s career went into the stratosphere with her Academy Award-winning turn in My Cousin Vinny in 1992. She’s since been nominated for two more Oscars in her lauded career that all started with the role of Marcy Thompson, as a series regular on As The World Turns for three seasons. 

Alec Baldwin (The Doctors)

The Doctors debuted on NBC in April of 1963, on the very same day as General Hospital premiered on ABC. Unlike GH, which is still on the air, The Doctors lasted only a mere 20 years, but like GH, it helped launch a lot of careers. Alec Baldwin was one of those actors who appeared on the soap, as the character Billy Aldrich for a few years in the early 1980s, years before his big breaks would come in Beetlejuice and The Hunt For Red October. 

Kathy Bates (The Doctors)

Another actor who got her start on the oft-forgotten The Doctors is the great Kathy Bates. Bates worked hard while scratching out a living as an actor in New York City. After scoring just one bit part in the movie Taking Off in 1971, it was another 6 years before she would land a big role, this time on The Doctors.

Laurence Fishburne (One Life To Live)

Laurence Fishburne famously made waves as a teenager starring (as Larry Fishburne) in Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece Apocalypse Now. While the role made him famous, his career started years earlier as Josh Hall in One Life To Live. Fishburne was only 11 years old when he debuted on the show.

Jordana Brewster (As The World Turns)

Jordana Brewster is a star in one of the biggest film franchises in history as Mia Toretto in the Fast & Furious movies. She got her start in one of the biggest soap operas in history as well. After a quick one-off on All My Children in 1995, Brewster landed a regular role on As The World Turns later that same year. She remained on the show for 118 episodes over the next six years. 

Shemar Moore (The Young and the Restless)

For over a decade, Shemar Moore starred as Derek Morgan on the beloved Criminal Minds and then on S.W.A.T for six years. Neither was his first long-time role on television, however, as Moore got his start on eight seasons of The Young and the Restless as Malcolm Winters, a role he’s returned to a number of times, most recently in 2023. 

Tom Selleck (The Young And The Restless)

Another actor who got his start on The Young and the Restless is the legendary TV star Tom Selleck. After bouncing around in bit parts for most of the ‘70s. The Blue Bloods star found a semi-regular role on the soap in 1974. He would later own TV in the ‘80s as Thomas Magnum on one of the greatest TV shows of all time, Magnum PI.

Meg Ryan (As The World Turns)

Meg Ryan was America’s sweetheart in the 1980s and '90s. Before she starred in numerous rom-coms, from When Harry Met Sally To You’ve Got Mail, she was Steve Andropoulos’ sweetheart Betsy on As The World Turns. She would play the role for three years, before snagging a role in a little movie called Top Gun, and off she went to stardom. 

Lauryn Hill (As The World Turns)

It’s not just actors who got their start on soap operas. Singer and rapper Ms. Lauryn Hill is famous for her amazing neo-soul album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998, but seven years before that, and before The Fugees, she starred as Kira Johnson on As The World Turns.

Taye Diggs (Guiding Light)

This one is a bit of a stretch because Taye Diggs had already put together a great career on Broadway, starring in the original cast of Rent and other shows. He did, however, get his regular screen time on Guiding Light in 1997, after a couple of smaller parts on TV. 

Julianne Moore (As The World Turns)

Julianne Moore has won a slew of awards in her career. The Boogie Nights star can boast five Oscar nominations and one win, she has an Emmy, multiple Golden Globe and SAG awards, and even one Daytime Emmy, which she won for Best Actress on the soap As The World Turns in 1988.

David Hasselhoff (The Young And The Restless)

Baywatch might have been a soap opera on the beach, but it wasn’t the first time David Hasselhoff starred in one. The Hoff played Snapper Foster (yes, that’s the name of the character) for seven years in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s on The Young and the Restless, before scoring his gig on Knight Rider. While starring on Knight Rider, The Hoff also appeared on one episode of Santa Barbara.

Mark Hamill (General Hospital)

Stars Wars has often been described as a “space opera” so it only makes sense that Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, got his start on a soap opera. The future superstar started smaller, with a role as Kent Murray on General Hospital for a couple of years right before Star Wars became the biggest thing, well, ever. 

Josh Duhamel (All My Children)

Transformers star Josh Duhamel has starred in 39 movies and had roles on 18 TV shows, including Las Vegas and Jupiter Rising, and it all started with a breakout role on ABC’s All My Children in 1999. He starred on the soap opera for a few years, before moving on, but did return briefly in 2011 to reprise his role as Leo du Pres. He even won a Daytime Emmy in 2002 for his performance. 

Kelly Ripa (All My Children)

Kelly Ripa has been everyone’s favorite morning talk show host for years now and over 30 years ago, she was a dancer on Dance Party USA. Her first serious acting gig came in 1990 as Hayley Vaughan on All My Children, a role she would play for more than a decade. Not only did it jumpstart her career, but the soap played an even more important role in her life, as that’s how she met her husband, Mark Consuelos.

Mark Consuelos (All My Children)

That’s right, Mark Consuelos also began his career on All My Children, playing Mateo Santos on the show for six years. The Riverdale star was a huge hit on the show, and like Ripa, returned in 2010 to help celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary. Consuelos and Ripa married in 1996 while starring on the show together and now almost 30 years later are still working together as co-hosts on Live.

Ryan Phillippe (One Life To Live)

From I Know What You Last Summer to Cruel Intentions, Ryan Phillippe played some iconic parts in the 1990s. It was One Life To Live where he landed his first one, though, in 1992. In the ‘00s, he got more serious, with major roles in Gosford Park and Crash, but none of it might have happened with the soap opera casting him as a teenager. 

Amber Tamblyn (General Hospital)

Amber Tamblyn wasn’t even a teen when she landed her first on-screen role on General Hospital in 1995. The 127 Hours star played Emily Quatermaine for six seasons on the soap.

John Stamos (General Hospital)

Before playing Uncle Jesse on Full House, and before playing bongos for The Beach Boys, John Stamos was breaking hearts as Blackie Parrish on General Hospital for three seasons in the early ‘80s. Stamos even earned a nomination for a Daytime Emmy for the role in 1983.

Mario Van Peebles (One Life To Live)

Mario Van Peebles made his permanent mark on film with his direction of the 1991 classic New Jack City. The cult classic was huge at the time, and Van Peebles has been acting and directing in TV and film ever since, but his career really got going a decade prior to New Jack City when he appeared as Doc Gilmore in One Life To Live in 1982 and 1983. 

Hayden Panettiere (One Life To Live)

“Save the cheerleader, save the world” is a now-legendary catchphrase from the TV series Heroes and the cheerleader was, of course, the great Hayden Panettiere. Panettiere had already scored numerous credits before Heroes, including her first role as a five-year-old One Life To Live for 26 episodes in the mid-'90s. She followed that up as Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light for four seasons.

Justin Hartley (Passions)

Justin Harley was part of the cast that made more TV viewers cry than any other as a part of the brilliant ensemble on This Is Us. Hartley got his start probably making daytime TV fans emotional on the short-lived (by soap opera standards) Passions. After becoming a series regular on Smallville, he returned to daytime TV on The Young and the Restless before landing his award-winning gig on This Is Us. 

Robin Wright (Santa Barbara)

In 1987 Robin Wright became part of cinema history with her role as Buttercup in the much-beloved The Princess Bride. It took a few years of starring on the soap Santa Barbara before she would get that breakout role, but she’s been on top ever since, with iconic roles on the Netflix series House of Cards and in movies like Wonder Woman 1984, which is pretty fitting, as that was the year she started on Santa Barbara.

Lindsay Lohan (Guiding Light and Another World)

Lindsay Lohan’s first movie role was actually two roles in 1998’s The Parent Trap. She immediately endeared herself to audiences, and that love only grew with Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. She’s had an up-and-down career since, but like so many others, that career started as a kid on a soap. Two soaps, actually. First, a brief one-off on Guiding Light, with a reoccurring role on Another World for two seasons. 

Kevin Kline (Search For Tomorrow)

Search for Tomorrow is one of those soaps that despite running for more than 35 years, it’s completely forgotten about today. It was canceled in 1986, but it was around long enough for Kevin Kline to make his first on-screen appearance. The classically trained Kline returned to the stage after leaving the show, but in 1982 he found himself in a role in Sophie’s Choice alongside Meryl Streep, and he’s never looked back. 

Tommy Lee Jones (One Life To Live)

Harvard grad Tommy Lee Jones actually got his first role in the classic Love Story but it was a minor “blink and you’ll miss it” type of role. It was probably his 21 episodes on One Life To Live in the early 1970s that really jumpstarted his now-legendary career. 

Tom Berenger (One Life To Live)

Speaking of One Life to Live in the ‘70s, Platoon star Tom Berenger overlapped with Jones for one season on the long-running soap. Berenger played Tim Siegel for 66 episodes from 1975 until his character’s death just after getting married in the 1976 season. Classic soap opera plot!  

While budgets of soap operas might not be that of prime-time TV, there is undoubtedly plenty of talent on these shows, and has been for many years, as this amazing of list famous actors who started out in soap operas proves. 

This weekend will see the release of Fast X, and with it comes what is expected to be the beginning of the end of the Fast & Furious franchise. While it’s now not entirely clear if we’re going to get one more after this, or if Fast X is the beginning of a Fast & Furious finale trilogy, it’s unlikely that we will get no more movies in the series that has been a massive hit for Universal. In fact, there’s been at least one spinoff rumored for years, and Jordana Brewster is certainly on board if it happens.

It’s been several years since it was first suggested that we might get a Fast & Furious spinoff focusing on the women of the franchise. While Vin Diesel has previously said that the movie is happening, we’ve seen no real movement on it. However, Fast X co-star Jordana Brewster has made it clear to the Los Angeles Times that she would love to see it, as it would be an opportunity to more closely examine characters in the franchise that don’t unusually get much focus., She explained…

And there are a lot of female characters that a spinoff film could flesh out. Such a film could include the likes of Brewster, Michelle Rodriquez, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, and new to the franchise with Fast X, Brie Larson. It could even include the likes of Vanessa Kirby and Eliza Gonzales who were part of the one existing Fast & Furious spinoff, Hobbes & Shaw. Since a Hobbes & Shaw sequel has apparently stalled, giving them something else to do in the franchise would be nice.

That’s certainly a solid enough cast to carry a movie, and Brewster is likely correct that fans would want to see it. Many of these characters haven’t been given the opportunity to really shine in the existing films, with an ensemble so large it’s difficult for anybody other than Vin Diesel to really pull focus. Brewster would certainly have the freedom to do more in a more focused spinoff, which she admits has been something she’s had to fight for in the main franchise. She continued…

Getting enough to do has been an ongoing battle for at least some of the female actresses. Michelle Rodriguez initially delayed joining F9 because she was frustrated with her place in the franchise. With at least two, and possibly three more movies, hopefully, Jordana Brewster, and the other actresses, will be able to get in on the action, but if not, maybe there’s a spinoff in her future where she will be able to make that happen. 

The 10th installment in the ridiculously popular Fast & Furious saga is finally upon us. Fans last caught up with Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto and the crew in 2021’s F9, and in Fast X — the first movie of a two-part finale (or possibly a trilogy, per Diesel) — the family will be confronted with their past. Jason Momoa joins the franchise as the son of Hernan Reyes from Fast Five, and he’s seeking revenge against Dom’s family for their role in his father’s death. With just a week until the blockbuster hits theaters, some have had the opportunity to attend an early screening, and they’re hitting social media with their first reactions.

In addition to Jason Momoa’s “flamboyant bad boy” Dante, others joining the Fast & Furious universe include Brie Larson, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior and Rita Moreno. The Fast X cast also returns a lot of our favorites from the past two decades, including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Cardi B, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Jason Statham, Helen Mirren and more. So let’s see what people are saying about the epic 10th film, starting with CinemaBlend’s Eric Eisenberg, who praises Momoa’s “gleeful psychopath,” tweeting: 

KIrsten Acuna of Insider is one of several people saying this feels like the franchise’s Infinity War, with Dante as Thanos. In her tweet thread, she says she ranks it about in the middle of the Fast & Furious movies and definitely has some quibbles, but overall can’t wait to see it again. Acuna’s full breakdown: 

Liam Crowley of Comicbook.com calls the film “utterly ridiculous,” but surely he means it in the very best way. Be sure to make it to the theater to see this one on the big screen, Crowley tweets: 

Jason Momoa is the subject of many of the first reactions, including that of ScreenRant’s Joseph Deckelmeier, who says the actor oozes charisma as Dante:

Even Germain Lussier of Gizmodo, who calls Fast X the “worst Fast yet,” concedes that the Aquaman star is “God-Level” in his franchise introduction. His performance alone is worth the price of admission, Lussier says: 

In addition to Jason Momoa, who film critic Simon Thompson calls “decadent,” Alan Ritchson is another standout. Despite the large cast, somehow Fast X doesn’t feel like it’s got too many cooks in the kitchen. Thompson continues: 

The impending release of Fast X has also brought about news regarding Dwayne Johnson’s future with the Fast & Furious franchise, after he was absent from F9. I’ll avoid saying anything more here, but fans who are invested in what’s going on with Luke Hobbs can click that link.

Overall, it sounds like audiences are in for another wild ride — and we’ve come to expect nothing less from these movies — and Jason Momoa sounds like a thrilling addition to an already stacked cast. It’s been more than two decades since Dom, Letty, Brian, Mia and the rest of the gang first brought the automobile-centered action franchise to life with The Fast & The Furious. This summer, Michelle Rodriguez, Vin Diesel And more of the family will return for the 10th outing in the franchise’s history. We already know quite a bit about the upcoming 10th Fast flick, but at CinemaCon 2023 the Fast X  cast took the stage for maybe the second-to-last time to share memories and milestones from their journey. 

Specifically, Michelle Rodriguez got candid about what it meant for F9 to be one of the first movies to bring audiences back to theaters following the pandemic. She also noted that personally one of the big reasons she’s felt the movies have been so important have been because they have given opportunities to myriad actors of color in big budget roles. 

The diversity of characters in the franchise is multi-faceted. The past 10 movies have increasingly included more women in hero and villain roles, and Jordana Brewster chimed in onstage to note she’s particularly proud the movies have “attracted” a slew of Academy Award winners. 

Finally, to much fanfare, Vin Diesel was brought onstage to talk about coming to CinemaCon for the first time in 10 years. He talked about keeping the “family” together during that whole time, and touched on the pride he had for the directors of the franchise, several of whom can name a Fast movie as the most successful of their career. 

I had to actually fact check this because noted Fast family director James Wan made well over a billion dollars on his DC movie Aquaman, joining an exclusive club, but as it turns out Furious 7 did make more money globally. Aquaman ultimately pulled in $1,148,528,393 while the 7th installment in the franchise brought in a whopping $1.5 billion and some change. 

Ludacris also reminded us yesterday that we are “officially less than a month away” from the release of Fast X and as we’re getting closer to the end of the saga, it’s clear there’s a lot of pride the cast is taking with them in the work they put in and the bonds they've cultivated with the audience. We'll get one more outing with the main cast before the band officially is broken up, but there doubtless will be more announcement about upcoming Fast movies coming down the pipeline sometimes soon, just likely with a bit of a different bent. 

In fact, Brewster has talked about the Fast saga continuing for "generations and generations" to come, and I'm interested to see what Universal will cook up once the final movie with the original cast hits the movie release schedule. 

The Fast & Furious franchise has come a long way from its humble street racing beginnings. It’s a safe bet that nobody thought that the first movie would eventually lead to more than 10 movies over the course of two decades, but here we are. 2023 will see the release of Fast X, the tenth movie in the main franchise and Vin Diesel is getting fans hyped by teasing the first trailer is close.

In a post to Instagram, which includes a behind-the-scenes picture of co-star Jordana Brewster giving Vin Diesel a hug, the actor reveals that the trailer for Fast X is set to arrive in “less than two months.” While we still don’t know exactly when we’ll see it, by the time February is over we’ll have our first look at the next Fast & Furious movie.

So while we don’t know exactly when we’ll get a look at Fast X, it appears that internally at Universal a date has been set for the trailer release. Maybe we’ll get to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the Fast & Furious family. It sounds like we’ll see the trailer sometime in February, ahead of the film’s May 19, 2023 release date. It’s actually a bit late for a first trailer to hit for a major release like this, only about three months before release.

While first trailer’s often don’t reveal many specific plot details about the movie, perhaps the fact that this trailer is hitting only three months before release is an indication it will give us more info about what Fast X is actually about. We know that it sees Charlize Theron’s Cipher join forces with a new character in the franchise, named Dante, played by Jason Momoa, to take on Domenic Toretto and company, but what we know about Fast X is somewhat limited right now.

Jason Momoa won’t be the only new face in the Fast X cast, Brie Larson is also joining the cast. However, the more important new addition is Louis Leterrier, who took over as director following the decision by Justin Lin to step down, though he remains as a producer. Leterrier has not directed a Fast & Furious movie previously, so it will be interesting to see what he brings to the table. 

Fast X the movie is technically just half of a larger story that will be followed by an 11th movie. While it hasn’t been officially stated that this will mark the end of the franchise, it’s certainly possible that these final two films will be some sort of culmination for the story. Of course, if they each go on to make a billion dollars, which is reasonably likely, it’s going to be tough for anybody to say goodbye forever. Also, based on what Fast X allegedly cost, a billion dollars is almost required.

Yesterday would have been the 49th birthday of Paul Walker. The Fast & Furious star tragically died in a car accident in 2013, but he has never been far from the thoughts of the fans of the movie franchise or those who starred alongside him. Several members of the Fast & Furious family took a moment to remember Walker on his special day. 

Vin Diesel took a long moment to speak about Paul Walker on Instagram by speaking to Paul Walker. He talks to his old friend and former co-star as if he was sitting right there with him. It’s quite touching to hear him talk with the waves in the background and the music playing. The beach was one of the last places we see Paul Walker’s character Brian in Furious 7, his last film in the series. 

Paul Walker’s daughter Willow has never failed to remember her father on important dates, and so his birthday was certainly no exception. She posted a picture of the two of them when she was very young, and attached to it a request to support the Paul Walker Foundation, an organization that Meadow has started in her father’s name with the purpose of raising money for scholarships with the goal to “leave people better educated and equipped to deal with the challenges of tomorrow.” 

Jordana Brewster, who plays Paul Walker’s on-screen wife Mia in the Fast & Furious franchise, also included support for the Paul Walker Foundation in her Instagram post, which may be the most interesting birthday remembrance of them all. She posted a video from her own phone which appears to be of herself and Walker on set during one of the Fast & Furious films. Fans can really see him as he was when he was still with us, laughing and having a good time.

The Fast & Furious franchise is still going strong and certainly, as long as that is the case, Paul Walker’s memory will certainly be front and center. Paul Walker was recently awarded a Walk of Fame star in Los Angeles. Walker’s character of Brian has continued to be referenced in the Fast & Furious franchise, almost as a way of reminding fans that while the actor may be gone, his character is safe and living happily. Perhaps it makes everybody feel the loss a little bit less to know that.

The Fast & Furious franchise is currently working on Fast X, what’s expected to be part one of a two part finale for the series. One assumes that Brian will play his part, even if he’s never actually seen on screen. He certainly won't be forgotten. Fast X is set to arrive in theaters in May 2023.

The road to the release of the upcoming movie Fast X has seen many of its stars showing off new and exciting developments on the internet. With production on the penultimate entry into the Fast Saga timeline in full swing, we’re seeing all sorts of cool behind the scenes looks at where Vin Diesel, Ludacris, and the rest of the family are going next. 

There’s still plenty of sweetness outside of those antics, as Diesel and Luda recently reunited with Meadow Walker, the daughter of late co-star Paul Walker. The occassion was the wedding of fellow co-star Jordana Brewster, as seen in the photo  on Instagram. Walker once again made time to celebrate her chosen family on social media, which led to exactly the caption you’d expect when involving the cast of that worldwide mega hit: 

Standing between the casually dressed Vin Diesel and the decked out Ludacris, also known as Chris Bridges, Meadow Walker looks stunning in a dark brown metallic dress. Truly looking like a family, it’s as if Meadow ran into her cool uncles at a family celebration. Which would be fitting, as Paul Walker was considered a spiritual brother to Diesel and most of the Fast cast; and that familial connection naturally extends to Meadow herself. 

Perhaps making all of this celebration even more adorable is the fact that this is very similar to the responses that came out of Meadow Walker’s own wedding late last year. Fast family is as Fast family does, as seen in Jordana Brewster’s sweet post honoring that event in a timely manner. There’s truly no love lost between the members who have continued to remain close in this tight knit sphere of performers. 

Of course, there doesn’t need to be a wedding to get Fast X’s on and off screen family to communicate. Earlier this year Meadow and Ludacris remembered the late Paul Walker, as they commemorated his upcoming star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, set to be unveiled next year. No matter the occasion, if there’s something to cheer about within the Fast Saga family, consider it celebrated properly.

Speaking of massive events, it’s the beginning of the end for Dominic Toretto and family, when Fast X debuts in theaters on May 19, 2023. Which means fans are going to want to reminisce about what’s come to pass previously on the road to Fast Saga revenge. Though getting through that journey isn't going to be easy.

As such, you can start your journey with F9, the most recent entry, as an HBO Max subscriber. However, you'll have to track down the various past films in order throughout both HBO Max and Peacock. Both of those platforms seem to have split the run of past adventures, and you won't want to miss any of the fun. 

The Fast & Furious franchise puts a large emphasis on family, both in front of and behind the camera. And those tight bonds between the cast and crew are surely now more important than ever as the gang revs up production on Fast X. The first installment in the film series’ two-part capper has experienced some setbacks (mainly the loss of director Justin Lin). But things seem to be moving again, as the Diesel-led movie has found a new filmmaker. The stars also appear thrilled to be working together again, including FF “siblings” Diesel and Jordana Brewster, who reunited in a hug-filled video. 

Vin Diesel has been sharing a number of behind-the-scenes updates on Fast X via social media, many of which included both old and new cast members. In one of his most recent Instagram posts, he’s seen hugging Jordana Brewster, who simply says, “finally.” Diesel spoke about the actress’ “sigh” in his caption: 

Having played faux brother and sister for over 20 years now, it’s no surprise that the two stars are so close. It’s rare that two actors get to star alongside each other for so long and build such chemistry. You can’t help but smile seeing the two in each other’s arms once more as they prepare to close the book on Dom and Mia Toretto. Check out the clip in the post down below:

Fast X sports an incredibly star-studded cast, and that’s saying a lot for the car-centric franchise. It’s more than clear that Vin Diesel is proud of the actors that the film has picked up, based on his social media activity. Diesel has posted a video with a shirtless Jason Momoa, and it was humorously on brand. He also dropped an adorable look at Brie Larson’s new character, after having previously welcomed the actress into the fold with another post.

The 54-year-old actor has been incredibly reflective while working on this latest feature. As he’s teased what’s to come, he’s also looked back on some major memories. As he heads into the final leg of the Fast & Furious franchise, Paul Walker and his legacy in particular have been on the actor’s mind. Given how integral Walker was to the series, the Guardians of the Galaxy star hopes to honor his comrade with these last two movies. 

Despite the ups and downs behind the scenes, I’d say the FF family is as strong as ever. Hopefully, Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster and co. can indeed deliver a worthy send-off to one of the most celebrated cinematic sagas of all time. (And of course, it wouldn’t hurt to get some more sweet BTS photos ahead of its release as well.)

Fast X roars into theaters on May 19, 2023.

The franchise that’s been living its life a quarter mile at a time is winding down. While the Fast & Furious world will surely continue on through spinoffs in the years to come, the main saga starring Dominic Toretto and his crew is in the final leg of this 20-plus-year endurance race with what could be a trilogy set within the popular franchise. The first of these final movies saw some of the series’ most popular characters going up against one of best Fast & Furious villains in some time, while also setting up what’s to come with the Fast X ending.

From Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto to Jason Momoa’s over the top Dante Reyes and everyone in between, the Fast X cast was filled from top to bottom with unforgettable performances that fans of the series will be talking about for years to come. And if you’re trying to figure out where you’ve seen those familiar (and not-so-familiar) faces before, look no further, for we are about to break it all down now…  

Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto) 

Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto has appeared in all the Fast & Furious movies except for 2 Fast 2 Furious, and has become the heart, soul, and face of the franchise in the years since we first met the dominant street racer and fearless hero. And that remains the same in Fast X, which saw Dom face one of his toughest enemies yet, one who wouldn’t back down no matter what.

Though Diesel is most associated with the Fast & Furious movies, the badass action star has had an incredibly varied career, including dramas like Multi-Facial,Strays, and Saving Private Ryan, some of the best Marvel movies with his portrayal of Groot, the Riddick franchise, and the xXx action series, to name only a few.

Jason Momoa (Dante Reyes) 

Dante Reyes, the son of Hernan Reyes, Fast Five’s main antagonist, is honestly one of the best things to happen to the Fast & Furious franchise in a long time, and that’s thanks to Jason Momoa’s outlandish and incredibly violent portrayal of the villain.

Momoa, who first found success on shows like Baywatch: Hawaii and Stargate Atlantis, reached new heights in 2011 with his portrayal of Khal Drogo on Game Of Thrones. Since then, the actor has given incredible performances in the DCEU, Dune, and Sweet Girl, with even more on the way, like the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. 

 Michelle Rodriguez (Letty Ortiz)

Michelle Rodriguez has also been part of the Fast & Furious franchise since the beginning, although it wasn’t until Fast & Furious 6 that she started taking a more central role in these movies. And in Fast X, Letty had one of her biggest stories yet, especially when it came to her time with Charlize Theron’s Cipher.

Over the course of the past few decades, Rodriguez has become one of the most badass action stars on the planet, with unforgettable roles in everything from the Resident Evil franchise to Avatar to the 2023 fantasy adventure film, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. 

Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce)

Introduced as Brian O’Connor’s childhood best friend in 2 Fast 2 Furious, Tyrese Gibson’s Roman Pearce has been a major part of the franchise since Fast Five, including a hilarious and intense performance in Fast X.

Outside of the Fast-verse, Gibson has landed roles in movies like Baby Boy, Four Brothers, The System, and Morbius. And if that wasn’t enough, Gibson also continues to have a successful music career, with an upcoming, Beautiful Pain, being released at some point in the near future, per Vibe. 

Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges (Tej Parker) 

Chris “Ludacris” Bridges’ Tej Parker also debuted in 2 Fast 2 Furious, hosting the street races Brian O’Connor drove in and later helping out him and Roman Pearce in their mission. Since then, he’s become a major part of the Toretto crew.

Though the rapper-turned-actor hasn’t released a full studio album since 2015’s Ludaversal, he’s remained quite busy with movies like John Henry, End of the Road, and several others. He even hosted his own reality series, Luda Can’t Cook, in 2022, which the three-time Grammy winner followed up with an appearance on Top Chef.

Nathalie Emmanuel (Ramsey)

Introduced in Furious 7, Nathalie Emmanuel’s Ramsey is undoubtedly the tech-guru of the crew, and she put her skills to work in Fast X.

Though she was already established by the time she joined the Game of Thrones cast during the show’s third season, Emmanuel will always be remembered for her turn as Missandei during the major of the HBO fantasy series’ run. Since then, Emmanuel has appeared in movies like Army of Thieves and The Invitation, as well as shows like Four Weddings and a Funeral and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

Sung Kang (Han Lue)

A few years after he returned to the franchise in F9: The Fast Saga, Sung Kang is back once more as Han Lue in Fast X, in which he finds himself on quite a wild trip around the world. 

In addition to his multiple appearances in some of the best Fast & Furious movies, Kang has appeared in movies like We Can Be Heroes, Raya and the Last Dragon, and Snakehead the past few years. And fans of the Disney+ original series Obi-Wan Kenobi probably recognize him from his portrayal of The Fifth Brother during the 2022 miniseries.

Charlize Theron (Cipher)

If anyone deserves the honor of being the main Fast & Furious film series’ chief antagonist, it’s Charlize Theron’s Cipher. Although, in Fast X, the dangerous cyberterrorist who orchestrated much of the events in every movie since the franchise’s sixth installment finds herself in a much different situation.

One of the most well-known members of the Fast X cast, the actress has done a little bit of everything over the years, including win an Academy Award for her performance in Monster, dominated in one of the best action movies of all time with Mad Max: Fury Road, and give brief yet unforgettable portrayals in the 2009 post-apocalyptic film, The Road.

Jordana Brewster (Mia Toretto)

Like Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster goes back to Fast & Furious’ beginnings too, although Mia Toretto didn’t get nearly as much to do, action-wise, in those earlier appearances compared to Dom (her brother) and Brian (her love interest). And while she was only in Fast X for a few scenes, she’s still a key member of the Toretto crew.

Outside of the high-octane film franchise, Brewster has appeared on shows like Lethal Weapon, Magnum P.I., and The Rookie: Feds over the course of the past half-decade, as well as movies like Simulant and The Integrity of Joseph Chambers. 

John Cena (Jakob Toretto)

We had no idea that John Cena’s Jakob Toretto existed until F9, as it was revealed in the movie that Dom blamed his younger brother for the death of their father and forced him to leave town. By the time Fast X comes around, the brothers have since reconciled.

Cena, one of the most prolific wrestlers-turned-actors in recent memory, has been all over the place the past half-decade with great performances in everything from Bumblebee to The Suicide Squad, and several family-friendly comedies in between.   

Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw)

Deckard Shaw started out as a villain in the Fast & Furious franchise, having targeted Han and the rest of Dominic Toretto’s crew to exact revenge for what they did to his brother, Owen Shaw. But over the years, Shaw has become one of the franchise’s best anti-heroes and he even had a strange run-in about his past in the F9 mid-credits scene with Han Lue.

Throughout his career, Statham has led movies like Snatch, the Transporter franchise, The Italian Job, The Meg, and The Expendables, both of which have highly-anticipated sequels on the way. 

Helen Mirren (Magdalene ‘Queenie’ Ellmanson-Shaw)

Deckard wasn’t the only member of the Shaw family around in Fast X, as Helen Mirren was back as Magdalene “Queenie” Shaw. 

A living legend of the acting world, Mirren’s career can only be matched by one other name on this list (but we’ll get to them soon). From award-winning depictions of the late Queen Elizabeth II to wonderful plot-twisty thrillers like The Good Liar, and countless other movies, shows, and stage productions before, during, and since, there’s not much Mirren can’t do. 

Leo Abelo Perry (Brian ‘Little B’ Marcos)

Although Leo Abelo Perry is a newcomer to the Fast & Furious franchise, his character is not. Perry takes over as Brian Marcos, Dominic Toretto’s son with Elena Neves. 

Throughout his career, which only goes back a couple of years, Perry has popped up on shows like Black-ish and movies like Cheaper by the Dozen.

Scott Eastwood (Little Nobody)

In The Fate of the Furious, Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody was accompanied by a government agent who received the nickname Little Nobody. This agent was played by Scott Eastwood, and after sitting out the events of F9, he’s back for Fast X. 

The son of Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood, the actor has made a name for himself the past decade or so with appearances in Fury, The Longest Ride, Wrath of Man, and I Want You Back.

Daniela Melchior (Isabel Neves)

Two years after Daniel Melchior captured the hearts (and attention) of comic book fans around the world with her portrayal of Cleo Caro, a.k.a., Ratcatcher 2, in The Suicide Squad, the Portuguese actress landed a brief yet pivotal role in Fast X as Isabel Neves.

Fast X was the second of two major blockbusters to feature Melchior in May 2023, as she also briefly appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 earlier in the month.  

Brie Larson (Tess)

Brie Larson became another MCU actor to land a role in the Fast & Furious franchise with her portrayal of Tess, the daughter of the still missing (or dead) Mr. Nobody. 

Mostly recognized for her portrayal of Carol Danvers in the Captain Marvel movies, Larson has done a little bit of everything over the course of the past decade-and-a-half. This includes tremendous performances in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 21 Jump Street, Room (which earned her an Oscar), Kong: Skull Island, and countless others. 

Alan Ritchson (Aimes)

We had another DC actor who came along for the Fast X ride, as Alan Ritchson popped up in the movie as Aimes, the man who stepped in and took over for Mr. Nobody.   

A lot of you may be more familiar with Ritchson for playing the latest incarnation of Jack Reacher for the popular Amazon Prime Video series Reacher. Either way, Fast X gives Ritchson another action-related credit to add to his resume. 

Rita Moreno (Abuelita Toretto) 

 The Fast & Furious franchise is all about family, blood or otherwise. In the former category, another member of the Toretto clan was introduced: Dom, Mia and Jakob’s grandmother, played by Rita Moreno, an alumnus from both film versions of West Side Story.

The talented and beloved EGOT winner has had one of the most successful and prolific careers in show business with unforgettable roles in Singin’ in the Rain, Carnal Knowledge, Slums of Beverly Hills, and countless others. Hell, she even gave an incredible performance on HBO’s gritty prison drama, Oz.

Well, that catches us up with the Fast X cast and some of the places we’ve seen them before. And while we don’t yet know who we’ll be seeing return for the upcoming Fast & Furious 11, there are plenty of 2023 movies to hold us over while we wait for more information. 

For a long time, the Fast & Furious had two main leads: Paul Walker’s Brian O’Connor and Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto, with their life journeys intersecting in 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. Sadly, Walker passed in 2013, and Furious 7 marked his character’s last appearance in the franchise (excluding him driving up at the end of F9). Diesel is still going strong as Dom in the main Fast & Furious film series, and with the now-officially-titled Fast X beginning principal photography, he’s reflecting on Walker’s legacy, as well as revealed a character who was almost excluded from what was previously known as Fast & Furious 10.

Starting with Paul Walker, it’s been almost a full decade since he died from injuries sustained in a car crash. Vin Diesel has paid tribute to Walker numerous times over the years, both in public and on social media, and in this latest reflection that he shared on Instagram, Diesel talked about how he continues to honor both Walker and his family, saying:

Paul Walker died in the middle of Furious 7’s production, but thanks to digital wizardry and Walker’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, standing in for him, the production was able to bring Brian O’Connor’s story to a close. But as Vin Diesel made clear and many other occasions, he and Walker were more than just co-workers; they formed a brotherly bond during their time together on the Fast & Furious movies. So while Walker is no longer with us, Diesel is still close with the Walker family, which includes, as he mentioned, walking Meadow Walker down the aisle at her wedding.

Whether visual effects will be used again to insert Brian O’Connor back into the main Fast & Furious film series before it concludes remains to be seen. However, as far as Fast X is concerned, Vin Diesel has confirmed that Jordana Brewster’s Mia Toretto, who’s also been part of the Fast & Furious franchise since the beginning, will be back, though that wasn’t always the case. It turns out there was a version of the upcoming movie’s script that didn’t include Mia, but we have Diesel’s daughter to thank for changing that. The actor explained:

After sitting out The Fate of the Furious, Jordana Brewster reprised Mia for F9, which saw her and Dom reuniting with their estranged brother, John Cena’s Jakob Toretto. It hasn’t been revealed yet if Cena will be back for Fast X, but regardless, with the main Fast & Furious film series winding down, I imagine many fans would have found it weird if Mia hadn’t been present. Luckily for them, Diesel’s oldest daughter, Hania Riley (whom he’s nicknamed Alpha Angel), convinced director Justin Lin to alter course, and now Brewster will reunite with Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Charlize Theron and Michael Rooker, as well as work with newcomers Jason Momoa, Daniela Melchior and Brie Larson.

If there’s one thing Fast & Furious fans know, it’s that when it comes to the iconic series, it’s all about family. That’s true on screen, but it’s also become a fact of life for the cast and crew over the course of making nine films. That was never more apparent than over the last few days, when Paul Walker’s daughter Meadow got married and some of his former Fast co-stars helped her celebrate. and Jordana Brewster even sent along a lovely message of congratulations to the newlyweds. 

When Paul Walker died in 2013, his daughter Meadow was just 15 years old. In the years since, she’s forged a successful career as a model and found love with Louis Thornton Allan. While her dad couldn’t be for her wedding, Meadow was able to share the special day with people who meant a lot to him, including Jordana Brewster. The actress, who plays Mia Toretto in the Fast series, was present at the ceremony and reception. She shared a lovely tribute to Meadow on Instagram after the festivities. In the photos the actress shared, her Fast colleague Vin Diesel is also up front and center -- not a total surprise, since he had the honor of walking Meadow Walker down the aisle. The photos and footage that the bride shared of her nuptials made it clear that having Diesel by her side in that big moment was especially poignant. 

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were famously close friends both on and off the Fast & Furious set, and Diesel has always been honest about how hard it was to lose Walker. He’s also made it clear that he's kept in touch with his late co-star's daughter after her father’s death. 

Jordana Brewster, too, has opened up about her grieving process after her on-screen lover's death, and the ways in which she has tried to honor him in her life. Being there to witness his daughter’s wedding was clearly a significant moment for her. 

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to Fast fans that the stars showed up for the big day, though. Cast members like Ludacris have said that the younger Walker’s presence on the set of recent franchise installments has helped the cast and crew feel like they are carrying on their colleague's legacy. There has even been talk of her joining the cast in F10 or F11 -- though like most other speculation about the upcoming films, that hasn’t been officially confirmed. 

Given all the speculation about the last two Fast films, we may learn sooner rather than later whether Meadow will be involved in a more official capacity. Fast & Furious 10 is slated to be released on April 7, 2023. 

After Fast & Furious star Paul Walker’s death in 2013, his co-stars and the franchise's producers have done their best to keep his memory alive in the films. One person who's helped them do so is the late actor's daughter, Meadow, who recently celebrated her dad’s birthday with Vin Diesel through touching Instagram posts. The budding actress got engaged this past August and recently shared that she's now married! And her father's co-stars joined in the celebration.

Meadow Walker tied the knot with Louis Thornton-Allen in a beautiful celebration that was attended by Vin Diesel and Jordana Brewster. The co-stars of Walker’s late father showed up in support of her in what continues to be a heartwarming relationship. The wedding looked perfect, and the fact that two of Paul Walker's key Fast & Furious family members were there is really special and further solidifies the bond they have maintained with the late actor's family. I mean, it's honestly hard not to get a little emotional when seeing Vin Diesel walking his on-screen brother-in-law's daughter down the aisle. While the event appears to have been a small affair, it definitely made for a nice and intimate atmosphere.

Vin Diesel and Jordana Brewster both starred alongside the late Brian O'Connor actor in the first seven films of the long-running franchise. Brewster has spoken about her relationship with her on-screen love and how her grief around the situation just doesn’t go away. Returning to work on the films after his death was hard for everyone involved. F9 director Justin Lin has also discussed the difficulty of writing around his character and keeping his impact and spirit alive in the films. 

Thankfully, though, series star Ludacris has spoken about how Meadow Walker has been helping keep her dad's legacy alive, saying that her mere presence on set does so much for the cast and crew. The rapper has also addressed whether she should appear in Fast 10 and 11 and, while nothing is official, his answer is a definite "yes." The franchise will surely have something special in mind for the end of the story, and having her make an appearance would definitely be special for fans.

The upcoming films will be the final two installments in the primary Fast saga, but there will undoubtedly be some amazing spin-offs after the main story gets wrapped up and Vin Diesel rides off into the sunset. Of course, at their core, the movies are about family, and the involvement and continued relationship with Meadow Walker is a positive element within the franchise. We wish her and her new hubby the best and hope that she makes her way into one of the last movies!

Since its humble beginnings in 2001, the Fast and the Furious franchise has grown into one of the biggest and most far-reaching movie series of our time. Universal rolled out its nine installment early this summer in F9: The Fast Saga, and there two more films on the way to close out the action for Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto and his family. As we look forward to what’s ahead, Jordana Brewster, who famously plays Dom’s sister, Mia Toretto, shared the memorable rumors she hopes comes true. 

Jordana Brewster spoke to CinemaBlend’s Law Sharma about the rumors that have swirled around the Fast and Furious franchise over the years and there are a few she’d actually like to see come true. Here’s what she told us: 

So Jordana Brewster has totally heard calls for a Fast and Furious/Jurassic Park crossover, and she’s a fan of it too. The idea merges two of Universal’s most massive (and sometimes ridiculous) action franchises. The Toretto family could perhaps befriend some raptors or race them in some kind of wild Isla Nublar Cup to draw in more guests. Based on what we've seen, it's not that crazy of an idea, right?

When CinemaBlend spoke to Chris Pratt earlier this year for The Tomorrow War, the idea came up, and the Jurassic World star said “let’s do it,” sharing that’d he’d love to work with Vin Diesel. He also added a funny tagline: 

As much as dinos and race cars are a winning idea, the more obvious next step in the Fast and Furious franchise would be the long-discussed spinoff starring the women of the franchise like Mia Toretto and Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty. This project could even include other characters from the Fast series like Nathalie Emmanuel’s Ramsey, Charlize Theron’s Cipher or Helen Mirren’s Queenie. 

The idea was put in motion back in 2017 by Vin Diesel, and a script has reportedly been in the works from Lindsey Beer, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, the two latter having contributed to the story and script for Captain Marvel. Back in early 2020, Diesel updated fans by saying that the script for the all-female spinoff was going to be in his hands shortly. However, the world-changing events of 2020 may have created some roadblocks for its development.

As of right now, Vin Diesel and the creatives behind the Fast and the Furious franchise seem to have their eyes fixed on the next two films, which will end the core franchise that began in 2001. Justin Lin and the cast are set to start production on Fast 10 in early 2022, ahead of the film’s April 2023 release. As Jordana Brewster shared, there’s still a chance for the all-female spinoff, and we can only hope that it’s still in the works.

It’s been nearly eight years since a tragic car accident cut Paul Walker’s life at 40 years. The Fast and the Furious star was survived by his daughter Meadow Walker, who is currently 22 years old, along with the global Fast family. Earlier this month marked what would have been the late actor’s 48th birthday, and along with messages remembering him, Jordana Brewster has opened up about grieving the loss of her onscreen husband year after year.

Jordana Brewster and Paul Walker had been working together since the Fast and Furious franchise started back in 2001. Brewster’s character, Mia Toretto, subsequently appeared in 2009’s Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6 and Furious 7 alongside Walker until his fatal accident in 2013. He was in the middle of filming the seventh Fast movie when died, and his brothers Caleb and Cody stepped up to fill in the gaps in production. When speaking to People, Brewster shared some words about losing the beloved actor following his recent birthday:

Paul Walker sounds like he’s never too far away from the Fast family’s thoughts years after the accident. The actor was a core part of the franchise and a memorable personality on set. Jordana Brewster continued to share how she grieves his death with these words:

Mia Toretto skipped out on The Fate of the Furious and the Hobbs & Shaw spinoff, but recently returned for F9: The Fast Saga. Paul Walker’s character of Brian O’Connor is still very much alive in the movies following the send-off he was given Furious 7, often making for some difficult writing work arounds for the creatives. Walker is a difficult subject for Brewster, calling her process “visceral at times,” but thankfully she has her co-stars at her side to be with her for some of those difficult moments.

Following the huge commercial success of F9, the cast will return to set at the beginning of 2022 for the tenth installment, set to come out in April 2023. The F9 director’s cut was recently released, which involves more Mia Toretto. And despite Paul Walker’s passing, the actor lives on through his film projects and continued legacy.

The Fast & Furious film franchise isn't above having a bit of fun with its titles. The eighth entry in the series was titled The Fate of the Furious, which was then shortened, quite intentionally, to F8. The most recent film just skipped that step and called itself F9. With the knowledge that a tenth movie is on the horizon, many fans have already come up with their favorite idea for a title for the movie in the groan worthy pun FasTEN (Fast10)Your Seatbelts. A lot of people at least claim they would like to see this become the actual title of the next movie. The stars have heard your joke. They think it's funny too. They also think making it the title would be really terrible.

Speaking in support of the release of F9 on Blu-ray, Jordana Brewster was asked by Insider what she thought of the punny movie title. The actress clearly gets the joke, and admits the title has some clever word play. She also thinks it's a terrible movie title, saying...

And, I mean, she's not wrong, right? Calling Fast & Furious 10 FasTen Your Seatbelts is funny without question, but it is not a good movie title. They didn't call The Fate of the Furious, The F8 of the Furious, which I'll admit I was totally expecting to see happen. There is clearly a line that this franchise is not willing to cross.

Still, there are a lot of fans who clearly love the name. One of the original tweets suggesting the title back when F9 was released has been liked thousands of times, and that doesn't count the multiple other people who tweeted the same joke and also saw a lot of support for it.

It would be one thing if Jordana Brewster was completely alone in her belief that it would make a bad title, but she has some support from Sung Kang, who agrees that, no this is not a good name for a movie. While the fans may have finally been given justice for Han, maybe we shouldn't expect this punny title to get very far. Check out Kang's reaction below,

It feels more than likely that the title for Fast and Furious 10 will just be F10 or Fast10 or something along those lines. Although, considering how frequently the Fast & Furious franchise does listen to its fans, I wouldn't be shocked to hear somebody shout "Fasten your seatbelts" in the movie, as a little shoutout to this popular fan request. At the end of the day, the title of the movie doesn't matter. As long as it has the family together, doing absolutely insane stunts, people will be happy.

Every film in the Fast saga has stepped things up a notch, and that includes giving the ladies of the franchise more action and more of a voice. Jordana Brewster, who plays Dom (Vin Diesel)’s sister Mia Toretto, got to do her first major stuntwork in F9. As Brewster is an important member of the Fast family, it’s always exciting to see more of her, and Justin Lin’s Director’s Cut of F9 has her character joining the latest film much earlier in the story.

In the theatrical cut of F9, we first see Mia (Jordana Brewster) almost 40 minutes into the film. The rest of the crew has just survived a wild ride through a minefield and a disintegrating bridge experience, lost the Aries device to Jakob (John Cena), and is strategizing their next move. Dom (Vin Diesel) doesn’t appear too happy to see Mia, which is likely a combination of Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) calling Mia without informing Dom, and Dom wanting to keep Jakob’s resurfacing a secret from Mia.

Alternatively, the Director’s Cut introduces Mia just over ten minutes into the film. After Letty takes off to join the crew on their mission and Dom stays behind with baby Brian, Mia arrives at Dom’s house the next morning. Her opening line is about wanting to see her nephew more often than for “world-saving emergencies” suggesting Dom called her to look after his son, Brian, while he joins the others on the mission. It’s a heartwarming scene between Jordana Brewster and Vin Diesel who have great sibling chemistry. Dom mentions their dad and Mia asks what’s happened, but all he gives her is “something he hopes he’s wrong about.”

This additional scene packs so much emotion and context. First, we rarely get a scene with only Vin Diesel and Jordana Brewster. They’re very sweet together. Mia is very intuitive and has a beautiful connection with her brother that she notices the moment his demeanor changes and gently checks on him while asking for more information without prying. The scene also adds more weight to Dom keeping the secret that their brother has resurfaced from his sister because he speaks with her face to face days before the information gets revealed to her. The audience has not yet met Jakob (John Cena) when seeing this exchange between Dom and Mia, so when we later meet him it clicks that this is what he wasn’t ready to tell her early on in the film.

The second time we see Mia in the Director’s Cut is the first time we see her in the theatrical cut. So when watching the Director’s Cut, Mia thanking Letty for keeping her up to date is much more emotional. But it’s also worth noting what the additional scene says about Dom. In the first scene, he was not sure that Jakob was involved, he only suspected. He may have rationalized not telling Mia until he was sure. But the second scene takes place after he was sure, and it’s clear he only told his crew about Jakob because they physically saw him. It seems he had no intention of sharing this with anyone but Letty. And that begs the question of why. We know his history with his brother isn't good, and it's a lot to process emotionally alone.

When one thinks about the Fast & Furious franchise, two works should immediately spring to mind: cars and family. Most of the action in this blockbuster film series revolves around vehicular mayhem, but the Fast & Furious movies have also continually highlighted the importance of family, whether it’s through shared blood or close bonds forged through this crazy journey we call life. For Jordana Brewster and Vin Diesel, who play Mia and Dominic Toretto in the Fast & Furious world, respectively, that special tie extends past their cinematic characters, with the former looking the latter like a big brother.

Jordana Brewster shared how much Vin Diesel means to her while talking about the relationship between siblings Dom and Mia with CinemaBlend during the F9 home media junket. In her words:

Both Vin Diesel and Jordana Brewster have been part of the Fast & Furious franchise since the beginning, with Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner meeting Dom and Mia during the events of 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. Dom has certainly shown on numerous occasions how far he’s willing to go to protect his sister, but it’s nice to hear that Diesel and Brewster also share a close bond in real life. Granted, you probably won’t see Diesel saving Brewster from bad guys or explosions, but he’s available to her if she needs any words of wisdom.

This serves as another example of how close the main Fast & Furious cast members are with one another away from the cameras (well, most of them anyway). Sadly though, like other families, this one suffered a tragedy nearly a decade ago when Paul Walker passed away. His Fast & Furious costars were understandably devastated, especially Vin Diesel, as much like how he and Jordana Brewster are like siblings to one another, Diesel considered Walker to be like a brother to him. But not only does Diesel continue to keep Walker’s memory alive, he also stays in touch with Meadow Walker, Paul’s daughter.

As far as the fictional Fast & Furious world goes, F9 revealed that Dominic and Mia had an estranger brother named Jakob, played by John Cena. I won’t share any specific spoilers for what goes down between the siblings, but with the way F9 ends, Dom and Mia could easily cross paths with Jakob again in Fast & Furious 10 and/or Fast & Furious 11. F9 also provided Jordana Brewster the opportunity to take part in more action-packed scenes, a welcome break from Mia having traditionally either been on the sidelines or serving as a damsel in distress. Dom may want to keep her safe, but she knows how to handle herself both in a fight and behind the wheel of a car.

We’ll have to wait until Fast & Furious 10 arrives on April 7, 2023 to learn what’s next for Dominic and Mia Toretto, along with the rest of their spiritual family members. Brewster said this about returning as Mia Toretto for the new film:

Jordana Brewster seemed rarely sad about not getting to fully participate in the previous installments. Her commitment to the Dallas reboot finally cleared up why Mia wasn’t as involved in Fast and Furious 6 and 7. Of course, her absence in The Fate of the Furious was better explained given Paul Walker’s unfortunate passing. But luckily, Brewster was brought back for F9 as a tribute to her late co-star's legacy. With that said, the actress wants in on more Fast and Furious action.

Jordana Brewster has advocated for doing more car sequences and fight scenes in Fast 10 and 11. But she isn’t the only one, as F9 co-star Michelle Rodriguez has pushed for an all-female Fast spinoff for a while now. The two actresses even mentioned wanting No Time to Die scribe Phoebe Waller-Bridge to punch up F9’s script.

Maybe the ladies will get in more of the action in the final two installments. It’s been no secret the Fast and Furious ladies have been frustrated for years over being sidelined. So hopefully the female spinoff will happen as the franchise’s future is leaning more female, according to Vin Diesel.

The movie sets up so much for the franchise’s future and the possible spin-offs fans are hoping to see. Family is always the most important thing in Fast movies but, as the family grows and changes, people can get left on the sidelines. Jordana Brewster has felt a bit of this and, now, she's explained what she wants for her character in the final two Fast and Furious movies.

Jordana Brewster’s Mia Toretto has been a mainstay in the Fast franchise since its inception. She has played a major role in how the franchise has reinvented itself over the years, yet it's hard to deny that she has been relegated to the sidelines in some ways. When it comes to what she wants for Mia in the final movies of the Fast saga, Brewster told Looper:

Jordana Brewster wants more action in the final two Fast and Furious movies, saying she wants Mia to be doing more and more. It's definitely true that Brester's character had to take a back seat in Fast 6 and Furious 7. Most would probably agree with Brewster's sentiments, and her performance in F9 only backs up her case even more. She goes on to say:

On the surface, the addition of John Cena's Jakob does give the Fast franchise another big star, but it's also true that it does open the door for more prime material for Mia. Family is the most important theme in the franchise, and exploring those dynamics should be vital, especially as the main film series prepares to end.

There are, however, still challenges with keeping Mia in the game. When Paul Walker's Brian was retired after his death, it became harder to keep Mia, the character's on-screen spouse, in the story. So the Fast franchise has to find a creative way to keep Mia going on these dangerous missions when Brian is canonically staying out of the action.

Having played Mia for 20 years, Jordana Brewster seems to have gained some great perspective on things, just as her on-screen brother, Vin Diesel, has about fatherhood. Aside from her own character, Brewster has also been lobbying for James Bond stars and for important characters to make their return to the series before it ends. With so many great suggestions on her end, let's hope that Brewster at least gets a few of the things on her wish list so that the final two movies in the Fast and Furious series can be the best that they can be.

Seeing Brian O’Conner indirectly appear F9 is still a surreal moment for some fans. Paul Walker’s death pushed the Fast and Furious franchise to pivot in his absence, but his death didn’t end his affiliation with the movies as his family stepped up. So the F9 cast spoke on how Meadow Walker is keeping her father’s legacy alive in the blockbuster franchise.

The interview revealed just how close Paul Walker and his co-stars were (and continued to be). Incorporating his family into the fold is a genuine and heartfelt move from Vin Diesel and everyone involved. But this isn’t the first time Meadow Walker’s contribution has been highlighted.

Jordana Brewster was asked a few weeks ago if Meadow Walker would join the Fast and Furious franchise. She seemed fond of the idea, even advocating for the model to join the franchise. Even Vin Diesel backed Paul Walker’s daughter joining Fast and Furious 10 with an ominous response. The younger Walker also promoted the latest Fast installment, along with sharing throwback moments with the cast. So Meadow Walker becoming a part of the next film would be a nice tribute to her father’s legacy.

Both the sagas of the 007 legacy and the Fast and Furious series keep moving forward with the same spirit of change and evolution, which has kept them alive for several decades of existence. Surprisingly, it looks like these twin worlds have shared a wavelength, as it’s recently come up that Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster wanted to hire writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge to punch up the Fast Saga. It’s just a shame No Time To Die snagged her first.

Revealing this interesting fact to THR, Jordana Brewster brought up Phoebe Waller-Bridge's potential hiring onto the Fast Saga team, and how it came to be. While it’s uncertain whether the Fleabag/Killing Eve talent would have been hired on for F9, Fast 10 or any of the numerous spinoffs the series has in the hopper, it’s certain that No Time To Die got in the way of these plans. And from Brewster’s statement on the matter, it sounds like they just missed the boat:

No matter which portion of the Fast Saga would have seen Phoebe Waller-Bridge potentially punching up the dialogue, it definitely would have been a welcomed sight. Jordana Brewster’s praise of Waller-Bridge’s work only makes this missed opportunity something that fans and non-fans alike would get behind. Then again, it might still be a bit difficult to land her for a future F9 adjacent film.

While No Time To Die is currently the only James Bond film that has Ms. Waller-Bridge’s credit attached to it, there have been rumors that she might also be working on a draft for Bond 26. Even with Daniel Craig’s impending departure from the 007 role, his profane vote of confidence may have been enough to keep Phoebe Waller-Bridge and EON Productions in business. Should this be the case, it might be a bit of a wait for Waller-Bridge to jump an Aston Martin across the divider and land in the world of the Toretto family.

Then again, who’s to say that the female-led Fast and Furious spin-off couldn’t use the same polish and refinement that Phoebe Waller-Bridge gave to No Time To Die? Maybe she could even build a new project from the ground up, as Helen Mirren’s Magdalene Shaw is another character ready to be given their own moment in the solo sun. The cast seems to think that the future is female in a post-F9 world; so as the universe continues to expand, so does the chance that Ms. Waller-Bridge will get to take part in that future after all.

It’s something to think about when seeing F9, which is currently in theaters. Not to mention, once the world sees Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s work on No Time To Die unveiled this fall, her potential role in the 007 future may become a bit clearer. It still couldn’t hurt for Universal to keep an open mind, and keep Bridge on the payroll for two of the top franchises they’re currently dabbling in.

F9 finally raced into theaters this weekend, breaking a pandemic box office record and proving that movie theaters are almost all the way back. F9 sees the return of Han after his on-screen death in Fast 6, proving that if you are cool enough, you can never really die in the Fast and Furious universe. There are a few really interesting characters from older movies that fans would like to see return to the franchise. Now, F9‘s Jordana Brewster has revealed the OG character she wants back to the franchise and I’m here for it.

Fast and Furious is a movie franchise that now spans two decades and has gone through multiple transitions into what it has become today. 2 Fast 2 Furious seems so different than where the franchise is today. Still, the movie’s DNA has definitely influenced the franchise, and it gave us one of its best characters in Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson). It also gave us the character Jordana Brewster told Looper she'd like to see on the big screen again:

Jordana Brewster thinks it would be a good idea to bring Eva Mendes back into the fold. Brewster recognizes how the films have played with the timelines and makes sure everything is connected even though the movies can span decades. Honestly, it's hard to disagree with the idea of bringing back Mendes' Monica Fuentes.

Monica Fuentes was the undercover FBI agent that worked with Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and Roman to bring down crime boss Carter Verone (Cole Hauser). Monica also was Brian’s love interest, and the two were presumably together for a time after 2 Fast. However, that relationship was eventually dropped as if it never happened as the series started another soft reboot with the third installment, Tokyo Drift. But Monica did appear in the mid-credits scene of Fast 5 where she hands Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) a file revealing that Letty Ortiz is still alive.

The Fast Saga is gearing up for the conclusion of the main series and, hopefully, we'll see Eva Mendes back, even if it’s just to come in and wink at the audience. Anything is possible, even if it means getting Eva Mendes to jump back into the acting game for a bit.

There's a lot to consider with the future of this franchise. F9’s ending sets up the next two movies, and its end-credits scene raises many questions moving forward. There's even a possibility Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham return for Fast 10. But whatever direction the franchise goes, let’s hope the producers consider ideas from franchise vets like Jordan Brewster, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris.

After multiple delays due to COVID, F9 is finally racing towards the big screen. A year after the original release, the film finally had its premiere with a full red carpet and all. So, of course, everyone had to come out and show their support. For the F9 premiere, Vin Diesel and the cast shared glam looks and even a sweet nod to Paul Walker.

The Fast And Furious franchise has come a long way in the 20 years it has been around, and so has the Fast Family. Jordana Brewster was just 21 years old when Paul Walker’s character caught hers in the first film, and she has continued her role in the franchise into her 40’s. Brewster will reprise her role as Dom’s sister, Brian’s children’s mother, and all-around badass in the upcoming F9. She’s been a staple in the Fast franchise, and now the actress has spoken out about just how long she’d like to stay in the role of Mia.

20 years is a long time to hold a role, but it seems like Jordana Brewster doesn’t think it’s quite long enough, because she tells Entertainment Weekly that she’d like another 20 years of the role under her belt. Brewster says she’d love to come back into her 60s as the mother of Brian’s children as the next generation of the Fast family takes up the reins of the franchise. The way she sees it, actresses just get better with age. Honestly, she is pretty solid proof of that belief, because the last 20 years has been very good to Jordana Brewster. While her character was both beautiful and strong in the very first Fast film, her presence in the franchise has only gained ground on both counts. The strength she has shown in the franchise has grown exponentially as she has saved her family time and time again, along with providing for her children upon entering motherhood.

There is no doubt that if we were to see a 50 or 60 year old Mia down the line somewhere that she will not have shrunk with age and become frail - she will only have become more of a powerful force that we see her as. While her children have not seen the dangers that she and her adult family have, they surely will be in the line of fire if they follow in their parents’ and uncle’s footsteps later down the road, and I definitely wouldn’t want to mess with Mia when that happens.

While it has been confirmed that the Fast franchise is ending with 10 films, fulfilling a promise made by Vin Diesel to the late Paul Walker, it’s not unreasonable to think there may be a revival in the future as well as more spin-off films. You’ve got to admit, Jordana Brewster’s proposal and willingness to take on the role in another 20 years down the line isn’t as far-fetched as the Fast & Furious franchise going into space, and that’s already come to pass. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for the entire Fast Family being down to reprise their old roles in another 20 years.

Fast and Furious 10 is almost a sure thing, and here’s everything we know about it. Fast and Furious 9’s release is inching closer. It is virtually guaranteed to be one of the biggest theatrical releases of the pandemic era as more and more people are venturing to theaters once again.

Fast and Furious’ Jordana Brewster has been a consistent figure in the film series since it began. But it was the chemistry between her and late co-star Paul Walker that helped to ground the franchise. Because of their connection, Brewster talked a sweet moment between her and the late Walker. The actress revealed how her late co-star helped her through a major stunt while shooting a Fast Five scene.

Being an onscreen couple for years, Jordana Brewster and Paul Walker clearly formed a bond. So, the co-stars pushing each other in moments of danger shouldn’t be too surprising. Speaking on the touching moment with her late co-star, Brewster said about the dangerous stunt:

In her Entertainment Weekly interview, the actress admitted she was glad Fast Five director Justin Lin didn’t tell her about the stunt. Jordana Brewster referred to herself as a “nervous Nellie” when it comes to dangerous stunts. She revealed she would’ve asked for a stunt double had she been aware of all the details. Knowing how scared Brewster was, it’s nice to know that Paul Walker stepped up to reassure her at that moment.

But Jordana Brewster’s Paul Walker story showed the impact had on the Fast and Furious franchise. In the years since his passing, his Fast and Furious co-stars have revealed some amazing stories about his character. Fast and Furious’ Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson have spoken about Walker’s presence moving the film franchise through the latest installment. Gibson even spotlighted his friendship with the late co-star during his Masked Singer run. So, Walker’s legacy continues to leave an impression on the film series.

Hearing Jordana Brewster’s Paul Walker story proved what a decent guy the late star was. As seen on social media, the closeness between the co-stars continues to preserve Walker’s memory in the Fast and Furious franchise. Fast and Furious fans will have to see how they work around Walker’s Brian O’Conner when F9 arrives in theaters on June 25.

At this point it feels like the Fast and Furious franchise has done it all. They've been all over the world, and completed all forms of crazy stunts. The new trailer for the film even implied that what started as a joke, that the series should take the characters to outer space, might even be actually happening, or at least something very close to it. There seems to be little else for the new movie to do of note, except, as it turns out, have two female characters actually spend any meaningful time on screen together. F9 will finally give Michelle Rodriguez's Letty and Jordana Brewster's Mia some real time on screen together.

It sounds wild, but it's true that the two main female characters throughout the Fast & Furious movies have never really conversed with each other on screen or had any meaningful interactions. This despite the fact that the franchise is nearly nine movies long and the two characters are sisters-in-law, as Mia is the sister of Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto and Letty is his wife. But Jordana Brewster told Insider that getting these two characters together was a big deal for Rodriguez and so their relationship will be dealt with in the new movie...

At first glance it seems impossible that Letty and Mia have had no scenes together in the franchise, but when you break it down it's perhaps not that crazy. Of the eight movies that have been released thus far, neither character appeared in the second or third entry. Letty's character is basically absent from the fourth film, as she apparently is killed, and then is also presumed dead in Fast Five. When she returns in the sixth film, she's on the other side due to her amnesia. Mia is likewise missing from the most recent movie, The Fate of the Furious, apparently having left the life to be with her family.

So when you eliminate the films where the characters are literally missing, there are really only a couple of movies where the two characters would even have a chance to be together in any meaningful way, but it seems even then that doesn't really happen. The Fast and the Furious has always been something of a boys club where the actresses haven't been given equal billing. However, Michelle Rodriguez took very public issue with that fact after the last movie, even indicating she might not return for future films if the issue was not addressed.

The issue was addressed, and so not only are Letty and Mia back, but they'll be able to actually explore their characters and their relationship to each other in a meaningful way. It's just one more reason to be excited for F9 when it comes out June 25.

Parenthood is a hell of a thing. To say it completely changes your life is sort of underselling it. Jordana Brewster, who is returning to the Fast and Furious franchise next month in F9, knows all too well as she has two sons. The actress became a mother using a surrogate after several attempts at IVF did not work out. It's because the actress did not actually carry her children herself that she ended up not taking any maternity leave when they were born, a decision she now regrets.

Jordana Brewster recently explained to Insider that when her children were born, she decided to go right back to work rather than take time off for maternity leave. Because she simply felt that, because she didn't need to recover from giving birth, it was something that she didn't need or even deserve. According to Brewster...

It's at least understandable why Jordana Brewster felt this way initially. Certainly part of the need for maternity leave is that childbirth is, at the very least, exhausting, and can also lead to numerous other health issues. As such, women who have given birth needs time to recover physically and emotionally. Brewster did not need to go through this, and so she thought maternity leave was not for her. She seems to feel she would be somewhat selfish, taking the same time that others need because they have been through childbirth.

However, looking back, Jordana Brewster says she regrets not taking that time. She wasn't less of a mother simply because she had not given birth physically, and because she did not take the maternity leave time, she missed out on the other reason its important: spending quality time with one's child. Brewster goes on,

Becoming a mother is no small feat regardless of the circumstances, and Jordana Brewster understands that now and wants other women who might find themselves in the same situation to not make the same mistake she now feels she did. Jordana Brewster isn't only a mother in real life, she also plays one in the Fast & Furious franchise. The actress will return to the series in F9 after taking the previous entry off, a sort of in-universe maternity leave perhaps.

Fast & Furious’ Vin Diesel and Jordana Brewster’s bond has only strengthened since the film franchise started two decades ago. The co-stars have gone through various changes over the years, but one thing that hasn’t changed is their love for one another, especially on special occasions. Seeing Vin Diesel’s post proved just how close the Fast & Furious cast has grown over the years. Diesel’s words spoke to the decades-long friendship between the two. At this point in the franchise’s history, most, if not anyone involved with the films becomes part of the family. So calling each other “brother” and “sister” wasn’t out of character for the co-stars.

After seeing Vin Diesel’s post, Jordana Brewster decided to comment on Diesel’s birthday dedication. Of course, her response was just as sweet. She replied to his message with the following:

After all these years, it was nice to see her and Vin Diesel remain close. This is special considering a lot of casts have nothing more than a working relationship.

As corny as it is, Dom Toretto’s phrase “The most important thing in life is family” has never been truer. The relationship between the Fast & Furious co-stars has become a key selling point for the franchise (besides the fast cars and outlandish stunts). Of course, there has been some friction between cast members over the years, but that’s expected given the connection amongst the cast. With that said, no matter what everyone always manages to come back together. The premature death of co-star Paul Walker only strengthened that bond and the franchise in recent years.

After co-starring in the Fast & Furious franchise for two decades, Vin Diesel and Jordana Brewster are truly a family. With Paul Walker gone, Diesel, Brewster and fellow co-star Michelle Rodriguez have become the cornerstones of the franchise. It’s honestly hard to believe that it’s been nearly seven years since the death of Paul Walker. Many were taken aback when it was reported that the 40-year-old actor had died after sustaining injuries from a car accident. While the memory of his death still hurts to this day, many of his loved ones always take the time to honor him. And on what would have been his 47th birthday, his daughter, along with Vin Diesel and other Fast and Furious alums, paid tribute to him.

On Saturday, September 12, the 21-year-old Meadow Walker took to Instagram to mark her father’s birthday with a classic photo of the two of them together. She mentions that the image is what made her realize they were twins, and she referred to her dad as “the most beautiful soul.” You can check out the sentimental post down below:

Vin Diesel also posted a tribute of his own, which included a drawing of both himself and the late Walker and a brief but touching caption:

Another sweet message came from Tyrese Gibson, who shared a few photos of himself with Paul Walker and stated that the actor is missed every day:

It’s beautiful to see the sheer amount of love that Paul Walker’s daughter and his Fast and Furious family showed him on his birthday. Although it may still be hard for them to grapple with the fact that he’s no longer with us, it’s clear that they’ve chosen to relish their memories of him.

Over the years, the on-screen family dynamic that viewers see on the big screen spilled into the real world as well. Walker was close with a number of his castmates, particularly Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson. Diesel is actually Meadow Walker’s godfather, and she continues to spend time with Diesel and his family from time to time.

While the Fast and Furious franchise has pushed on in the wake of Walker’s death, the cast and crew have certainly kept him in mind while making the movies. Vin Diesel previously explained that Walker inspired his decision to cast John Cena in F9 and has also explained that reaching a tenth installment will fulfill a promise he made to the late actor. In addition, Paul Walker’s family has been supportive of their efforts honor him and his character, Brian O’Conner.

Paul Walker may no longer be around, but it can definitely be said that he will never be forgotten, thanks in part to his loved ones. His work will more than likely be remembered for years to come.

Vin Diesel's Fast and Furious franchise is always adding new celebrities. We only recently got Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren in the mix, and F9 has John Cena as -- surprise -- Dom's brother Jakob. We know at least one more movie is coming in Fast and Furious 10, so who could join the team?

F9 just shared its first trailer via an insanely over-the-top concert premiere. While the stars were gathered to promote the film, they were asked who would be their dream bucket list celebrities to join the franchise. Producer/star Vin Diesel had a surprising answer:

He even added his version of a British accent to "awesome" via his response to MTV International. Judi Dench! I love that he picked her. She does have action franchise experience as M in Daniel Craig's James Bond movies, and she's clearly up for some freaky shit since she agreed to be in the Cats movie.

I love this idea. Not to have Dame Helen Mirren take on Dame Judi Dench in a fight, although that might be kickass, but what about Judi Dench having a much younger man on her arm in John Cena's Jakob Toretto? What if it turns out Dom (and Mia's?) brother has a sugar mama? I'm stretching now because I'm suddenly invested in this Judi Dench casting. She's 85 but you'd never know it. Get on that, Diesel.

Other F9 stars shared their own dream celebrities for the Fast franchise:

I think Judi Dench has enough of a playful edge to join Helen Mirren and company. Matt Damon, too. Did you see him in The Informant, or in his Thor: Ragnarok cameo? The Martian was even a comedy, if you ask the Golden Globes. Denzel Washington and Marion Cotillard might be harder to convince, although Cotillard was in a Batman movie, so she's willing to go for a big franchise.

As Michelle Rodriguez noted, though, they do some crazy things in the Fast and Furious world. F9 is going to be particularly nuts, she warned:

Yeah, we always do, and the F9 trailer included at least two more moments to add to the Just Go With It list. Plus, F9 has to explain how Han is back. Hopefully that explanation doesn't defy physics too, but it probably will.

F9 is scheduled to open in theaters on May 22, 2020.

It's been six years since Paul Walker died, and the Fast and Furious cast hasn't forgotten. In fact, it sounds like his spirit was felt very strongly during filming for Fast and Furious 9 and helped carry the cast through the 2020 movie. Not to be weird with a Star Wars analogy, but he's like their own Force Ghost. That's kinda cool, right?

Paul Walker died November 30, 2013 as a passenger in a car crash. He was filming Furious 7 as Brian O'Conner at the time, and his brothers helped finish his role as stand-ins.

Now the Fast and Furious cast is fresh off the franchise's longest shoot ever for Fast and Furious 9. Tyrese Gibson, who plays Roman Pearce in the Fast films, shared two posts on the anniversary of Paul Walker's death. In the first, he recalled how he got the horrible news about Walker's death. He later noted that the cast and crew thought about Walker every day when making Fast 9, and when days were tough, he was the one to pull them through:

What a beautiful sentiment. Tyrese later shared a video with Paul Walker talking about how he loves Tyrese like a brother, even though "he drives me fucking insane sometimes. We give each other a hard time, but there's always love between us."

Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto) and Paul Walker, aka Pablo, were like brothers on-screen and off when it comes to the Fast and Furious franchise. Diesel honored the 6th anniversary of Paul Walker's death with a sweet image and one simple word:

Paul Walker's daughter Meadow responded with hearts. Walker's brother Cody -- who was spotted with Vin Diesel on the Fast and Furious 9 set -- added "Always in our hearts. We miss you Pablo." Fast and Furious 9 star Nathalie Emmanuel (Ramsey) also added heart emojis.

Jordana Brewster still plays Mia Toretto, who has two kids with Paul Walker's Brian in the Fast and Furious movies. The Fast films didn't kill off Brian after Paul's death, and since Mia is back in a big way in Fast 9, fans are wondering if the film will find a way to show Brian again. As we wait to see if the rumors on that are true, Brewster shared her own remembrance of Paul Walker on November 30:

Nineteen years. Nineteen years will have passed between The Fast and the Furious coming out in 2001 to launch the franchise and Fast & Furious 9 arriving in theaters in May 2020. That's not even the end of the franchise, Fast 10 is already in the works. But Jordana Brewster got fans thinking about the first movie with her recent comments on Mia Toretto in Fast 9.

Mia is Dominic Toretto's (Vin Diesel) sister and she's still in a relationship with Brian O'Connor, even after the death of actor Paul Walker. Mia was missing from The Fate of the Furious, but fans are hoping Brewster's return as Mia in Fast and Furious 9 also gives us an update on Brian, who is still alive in the story. Maybe we'll even see him through the return of Paul Walker's brother Cody? He was seen with Vin Diesel on set.

Whatever else happens in Fast & Furious 9, Jordana Brewster is excited to get back in action -- literally, to get back into the action. Mia has two children with Brian, but she's also a fast-driving Toretto herself, and she's about to get her Toretto on once again.

I do wonder if Jordana Brewster's Mia is getting more to do because of Michelle Rodriguez speaking out for the women of the Fast franchise. Speaking out can be a fast ticket to backlash, but it does seem to have worked for Brewster, who is happy to have more to do in this movie. Rodriguez is also back in action as Letty, and she has posed with Vin Diesel in Fast 9 photos and videos from set.

The last time we revisited the Fast and Furious franchise was in 2019, only instead of continuing with the main narrative, we went down the spinoff path with Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw in the aptly-named Hobbs and Shaw. However, we won’t have to wait too much longer for the next main entry, as Fast and Furious 9, a.k.a. F9, is just days away from release.

Because Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham were busy with Hobbs and Shaw, they’ll be sitting out Fast and Furious 9, making this the first Fast and Furious movie Johnson hasn’t taken part in since he joined the franchise in 2011’s Fast Five. Nevertheless, from what’s been announced and reported so far, Fast and Furious 9 has a solid lineup of new and familiar faces, so let’s go over who’ll be around for this latest round of racing, explosions and over-the-top action.

Vin Diesel - Dominic Toretto

With the exception of 2 Fast 2 Furious, Dominic Toretto has appeared in every Fast and Furious movie, so Vin Diesel returning for F9 is hardly surprising. During The Fate of the Furious, Dom learned about his son, who his ex-lover Elena had kept secret from him. With Elena having been executed by Cipher, Dom is now raising the boy, who he named after his best friend, Brian. We've seen from the F9 trailers that Dom has been living a quiet life so he can properly look after Brian, but he'll soon be drawn back into action by a violent family reunion, but more on that later.

Michelle Rodriguez - Letty Ortiz

While she doesn’t have as many Fast and Furious appearances under her belt as Dominic Toretto, Letty Ortiz is one of the most important characters in this franchise. While Letty and Dom’s relationship hit some bumps in The Fate of the Furious when Dom was blackmailed by Cipher, they’re are all good again, so count on her being by his side in F9. Initially it was unclear if Michelle Rodriguez would reprise Letty, but she signed on after securing a female writer to contribute to the story.

Tyrese Gibson - Roman Pearce

He may be the joker of the Fast and Furious team, but Roman Pearce is nonetheless a valued member, for both his driving skills and his ability to talk his way through anything. While Roman was once tightest with Brian O’Connor, with Brian having retired from this life, he’s built a special bond with the other main characters. Tyrese Gibson was initially upset that F9 was being pushed back to make room for Hobbs and Shaw, but his feud with Dwayne Johnson has been long settled, so now we can what's next for Roman. Spoiler alert: it involves going to space.

Ludacris - Tej Parker

Tej Parker started out refereeing street races in Miami, but nowadays he serves as one of the main tech people in the Fast and Furious crew. We can expect Ludacris’ character to continue those duties in Fast and Furious 9. Let’s also not forget that Tej and Roman Pearce have been looking to get romantically involved with Ramsey (more on her next), and while she like both of them, she won’t make one move or another until one of them tells her what her last name is. Could that happen during F9?

Nathalie Emmanuel - Ramsey

Ramsey is still the newest member of the Fast and Furious crew, joining up with them in Furious 7 after being rescued by the villains who kidnapped her because she created God’s Eye. Ramsey values that the team is closely bonded through respect and trust rather than fear, so now she helps them out with her impressive hacking skills. That said, we still don’t that much about her background/past, so maybe Fast and Furious 9 will shed some light. One thing that has been revealed about for F9 is that she's not a good driver, which explains why we haven't seen her behind the wheel in prior movies.

Jordana Brewster - Mia Toretto

At the end of Furious 7, Brian O’Connor from racing, heists and saving the world to focus on raising his children with Mia Toretto, who had already largely left that life behind. Sadly, due to Paul Walker’s passing, unless the late actor’s brothers come back to help pull off a Brian cameo, we won’t be seeing him again. That’s not the case with Mia, as Jordan Brewster will make her sixth appearance as the character. It’s looking like Mia will have a major role in F9, so it's nice that her big return wasn't just limited to a cameo. Unfortunately, the circumstances in which she's returning are less than desirable thanks to someone from her past reemerging into her life. As noted in the Vin Diesel section, more on that later.

Charlize Theron - Cipher

Charlize Theron’s Cipher was still on the loose at the end of The Fate of the Furious, and while there has been talk of giving the character a spinoff, in the meantime, she’ll be back for F9. It remains to be seen exactly how big her role will be, but there's no question that she'll still be operating within antagonistic territory. Whatever scheme she has in the works, it requires her to have a skilled partner by her side, and she's found that person. We'll talk about him shortly.

Helen Mirren - Magdalene Shaw

With Jason Statham and Luke Evans not expected to reprise Deckard and Owen Shaw, Helen Mirren’s Magdalene Shaw will represent the Shaw clan during F9. In The Fate of the Furious, Magaldalene helped out Dom by having her two sons help rescue his son from Cipher, and in Hobbs & Shaw, she was in prison, although the end of that spinoff indicated she would soon escape incarceration. Sure enough, she's back on the outside during F9, and it looks like she'll assist Dom again in some capacity. And luckily for Helen Mirren, she finally got to drive for one of these movies!

Sung Kang - Han Lue

Sung Kang’s Han Lue was introduced in The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift, but that was the same movie he perished in a car crash… or so we thought Fast & Furious, Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6 wound back the clock so we can spend time with Han pre-Tokyo Drift, but eventually time caught up to him. Here’s the thing, though: Han didn’t die! Through mysterious circumstances, he’s still among the living and back to help his friends in their time of need during F9.

John Cena - Jakob Toretto

Now we come to the new faces being introduced in F9, starting with Bumblebee and The Suicide Squad star John Cena. A man of his talents requires a hefty role, and he’s certainly gotten that for the latest Fast & Furious movie. Cena is appearing as Jakob Toretto, Dom and Mia’s estranger brother who’s a master their, assassin and high-performance driver. Jakob has an especially big bone to pick with Dom, and while we don’t know yet what unfolded between the brothers, this grudge is notable enough that Jakob is working with Cipher. Will Jakob eventually be redeemed, or is he permanently operating in villain territory? We shall see.

Finn Cole

As is the case with John Cena and the rest of the actors on this list, there’s no word yet on who Finn Cole is playing in Fast and Furious 9. Cole’s two biggest claims to fame are in the TV realm, with him playing Michael Gray in Peaky Blinders and Joshua Cody in Animal Kingdom. Let’s see if F9 can propel him to cinematic fame.

Anna Sawai

Anna Sawai has a pretty light on-screen resume so far in her carer. If you watched 2009’s Ninja Assassin, you might recognize her for playing the teenaged Kiriko, and later this year she’ll appear as Eiko in the BBC Two/Netflix drama Giri/Haji. It’ll be interesting to learn how she factors into F9.

Vinnie Bennett

Vinnie Bennet has a broad resume, from TV shows like The Shannara Chronicles and Power Rangers Dino Charge to movies like Ghost in the Shell and Human Traces. He most recently appeared in the New Zealand series The Bad Seed as Detective Bennett. Will he be an ally or enemy to F9’s main characters? I can't wait to find out.

It’s been a few days since we learned that Fast and Furious 9 had kicked off production. At the time, fans got a wonderful video from Vin Diesel and actress Michelle Rodriguez to get things started. Now, Vin Diesel doesn’t seem to be slowing down with the fun Fast and Furious franchise news.

In fact, the actor took some time this past week to sit down with returning actress Jordana Brewster and introduce fans to the newest ‘Baby Brian’ actor. Take a look.

The video was filmed during Day 4 of production on Fast and Furious 9. The film is currently shooting in London, but from the sounds of things, other locations will definitely be involved as well. Along with the filming location news, we also get this introduction to Baby Brian and reintroducing Jordana Brewster, who plays Mia in the long-running franchise.

When last we saw Mia she was separated from the rest of the Fast gang when she and her partner Brian O’Conner left at the end of Furious 7. The move to send the characters off was made after Paul Walker was tragically killed in an automobile accident at the age of 40.

About a year ago, it was Vin Diesel who revealed that Mia would be back for the ninth installment, and now she’s already on set!

She and Baby Brian aren't the only new or returning faces headed to the franchise. Probably the biggest casting so far has been John Cena, who has also shown up on set already and shared his own message with fans.

When last we saw Baby Brian, he was an actual baby. Introduced in The Fate of the Furious, Baby Brian is the son of Elena Neves and Dominic Toretto. The movie came out in 2017, and with Fast and Furious 9 not on the schedule until 2020, it makes sense that Baby Brian would have aged a bit between movies.

We’ll have to wait and see how the family comes back together in Fast and Furious 9, but the good news is that production is off of the ground at this point and we’ll likely find out what happened in the lives of Mia and Brian after the events in Furious 7.

It’s always a little emotional when any plotline in the Fast franchise relates to Paul Walker’s popular character. Although Mia is a likable character in her own right, she’s clearly always going to be tied to Brian in some ways, and I can’t wait to hear how her presence is explained.

We’ll be able to learn more when we start getting trailers for the upcoming sequel. However, we won’t get to see Fast & Furious 9 until the movie hits theaters on May 22, 2020, presumably with a new title. You can see what’s coming in the meantime with our full schedule.

We have a box office race! Fast and Furious 9 just moved across the movie calendar -- again. This is what happens when you announce a movie and give it a release date years in advance.

Universal Pictures just drove Fast and Furious 9 from April 10, 2020 to its new date of May 22, 2020.

That new date opens Fast 9 over next year's Memorial Day weekend. So it sounds like a vote of confidence, as well as a way to give the production six more weeks to make the movie. (Question: Would that be enough time to add in people like Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, or no?)

Previously, as Variety noted, Fast and Furious 9 was set to open April 19, 2019. That would've had it open just before Avengers: Endgame this year. Not a great time to show up, so good on them for changing it to April of next year. Both of those were Easter weekends. Now Fast 9 has moved again to Memorial Day weekend, which is known for being the unofficial start of summer and a huge weekend for blockbuster movies.

Since Memorial Day weekend is known for being a movie weekend, there are already some residents on the May 22, 2020 calendar -- including Godzilla vs. Kong and The SpongeBob Movie. We recently noted how SpongeBob's move to that date would put it up against Godzilla vs. Kong. The SpongeBob movie would probably skew younger, but you have to imagine the Godzilla and Fast franchise audiences have a lot of overlap.

It's possible one or more of those films will move again, and it's also possible more films will join them on the Memorial Day 2020 calendar. There's still a year to go before any of that happens, and studios always carefully watch the competition, read the tracking tea leaves, and do whatever they think is best for their films. Sometimes they get it right, and other times (no Star Wars movie this past December = Aquaman billion dollar domination) they misfire.

As The Rock recently pointed out when a reality TV star complained about all of the Fast and Furious movies, the franchise has made more than $5 billion at the box office at this point. The Rock's Hobbs and Shaw movie is coming out this August as the first but not the last spinoff.

Fast and Furious 9 will be followed by Fast and Furious 10, which was given a release date of April 2, 2021, but don't go thinking that will last. If the ninth movie has already moved twice, there's a good chance the 10th movie will shift around too.

So far, not everyone has signed on for Fast and Furious 9. We know Jordana Brewster is coming back as Mia Toretto, but Michelle Rodriguez was waiting to read the script to see if she'd return.

If Fast and Furious 10 is indeed the final movie in the franchise, you have to hope everyone who can return does return. Obviously Paul Walker will always be the missing piece, and there are some fans who think the franchise should've ended after he died. But it's too late for that now, so hopefully the Fast team has a plan for a strong ending. No more feuds.

Although Furious 7 is considered to be one of the better entries of the Fast and Furious franchise, the 2015 movie is also arguably best remembered as being the final appearance of the late Paul Walker, who died in a car crash in 2013. Furious 7's story subsequently needed to be altered during filming, and the story arc for Walker's character, Brian O'Conner, was wrapped up. This also meant that Jordana Brewster's Mia Toretto departed at the end of the movie with Brian, but due to the tragic circumstances necessitating this narrative shift, Brewster was never able to say goodbye to the Fast and Furious franchise. She recalled:

Like Brian O'Conner, Mia Toretto was one of the starring characters in the movie that started it all, 2001's The Fast and the Furious, and she was brought back into the excitement in 2009's Fast & Furious, where she reignited her relationship with Brian. By Furious 7, Brian and Mia were raising a son together (with another kid on the way), making it understandable that the two of them would want to completely leave behind the life of car-centric heists and saving the world. In real life, this was the most organic way for the franchise to deal with Paul Walker no longer being around, but as Jordana Brewster told Fox News, that creative decision was out of her hands. As a result, while the actress acknowledged that the Fast and Furious movies don't feel the same without Walker anymore, she never got closure.

Fortunately for Jordana Brewster, her time with the Fast and Furious franchise isn't over yet. Vin Diesel confirmed earlier this year that Mia Toretto will be back for Fast and Furious 9, although her exact role in the movie hasn't been revealed yet. It will be interesting to see how Fast and Furious 9 handle bringing Mia back into the fold without highlighting Brian O'Conner's absence. Presumably the movie will have Brian stay at home to look after the kids while Mia teams back up with her brother and his crew. Whatever's in store, I imagine that Brewster is glad to finally be back in the Fast and Furious franchise, and while it remains to be seen if she'll also be brought back for Fast and Furious 10, the final film in the series, at least now she'll be able to give a proper goodbye.

As they so often like to say, the Fast and the Furious franchise is about family, both the one you're born with and the one you choose. At the heart of the Fast & Furious family is the core group from the first film; namely, Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto, Michelle Rodriguez's Letty, Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner and Jordana Brewster's Mia Toretto. Following the tragic death of Paul Walker, that family was separated on screen, with Furious 7 providing a fitting sendoff for Brian O'Conner and Mia. But that fond farewell will not be the last we see of Mia Toretto as she will be brought back for Fast and Furious 9. Star and producer Vin Diesel explained:

Last year, Vin Diesel teased that Jordana Brewster would be returning for the penultimate chapter in the Fast and Furious saga after sitting out The Fate of the Furious, and this basically confirms it. Speaking to Access while promoting the new Fast and Furious ride at Universal Studios, Vin Diesel says he is the most excited about the return of Mia Toretto and he seems to be implying that she will be an integral part of this next film. On the one hand, Jordana Brewster is a important member of this franchise and no doubt fans will be excited to see her. On the other hand, bringing her back raises a lot of questions about what the story is and how her return will work given the way her last appearance in Furious 7 left off.

After the passing of Paul Walker, Furious 7 did a magnificent job finishing the film and providing a fitting and poetic sendoff to fan favorite Brian O'Conner, who has been at the heart of the series since the beginning (minus his absence from Tokyo Drift). As a couple, Brian and Mia go hand in hand, so bringing Mia back without Brian is a tricky proposition and in a way undos the beautiful closing of that chapter. Furious 7 found Brian O'Conner struggling with civilian life and his role as a father like a soldier back from war, missing the blood and bullets of his previous life. At the end, he came to terms with leaving the fast and furious lifestyle behind him, realizing the importance of Mia, his son Jack and his future daughter.

The real question this news raises is how does Fast and Furious 9 bring back Mia in a way that doesn't highlight the absence of Brian or make it seem odd and illogical that he isn't there. Vin Diesel's statement seemed to imply that this wouldn't be just a quick cameo of Mia making a call to her brother, but something more substantial. This is purely speculation, but if I had to guess, Mia will lie and leave Brian at home to go help the team, knowing how easily he will get dragged back in if he goes. I suppose a flashback is also an option, but I doubt it. How a present story appearance would fit in with the team's journey to Africa remains to be seen.

Fast and Furious 9 has been delayed and won't hit until at least 2020, but that doesn't mean that you have to go without your NOS fix. The spinoff film Hobbs and Shaw starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham is scheduled to hit in 2019, and there is weirdly even an Fast & Furious animated series heading to Netflix in the future, so this continually evolving franchise will deliver cars, family and explosions for years to come.

If there's one thing that everyone seems to know about the Fast and Furious franchise -- even through its numerous changes -- it's that the movies are all about family. Some of the original members of the Toretto clan have left the picture in recent years. Now that looks like it's going to change in a significant way, as Vin Diesel has officially teased Jordana Brewster's return to the franchise as Dom's sister, Mia Toretto. She'll be back for the still currently untitled Fast and Furious 9 movie.

The reveal came during a Facebook Live post yesterday in which Vin Diesel broadcasted from a "top secret" set. During the video, he introduced series mainstay Justin Lin (who had already been rumored to return behind the camera for the next two installments in the series), followed Jordana Brewster. Although she has existed in the Fast and Furious universe ever since the very first chapter, Brewster was not present during the events of The Fate of the Furious -- presumably because she was enjoying retirement with the late Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner. However, fans have apparently demanded her return to the franchise, and it looks like they will soon get their wish.

How Mia will specifically factor into the events of the next Fast and Furious film remains to be seen. The ending of Furious 7 made it seem like she would be out of action with Brian as they shifted into parenthood, but something significant (possibly Cipher, who remains at large) will undoubtedly force her hand. Now it's a matter of waiting to see if we will also see Brian as well, or if Walker's character will remain retired.

Of course, before the Toretto family returns to the silver screen for the ninth installment in the main Fast and Furious saga in 2020, the series will take a detour into another corner of its ever-expanding mythology in 2019. A spin-off movie focusing on Dwayne Johnson's Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw was recently announced, subsequently leading to a one-year delay for the next Fast and Furious movie. However, other reports have suggested that the delay was also a result of the franchise's effort to accommodate Justin Lin's return as series director -- something this post seems to corroborate.

While this has caused quite a bit of drama behind the scenes (particularly between Johnson and Tyrese Gibson), Diesel's Facebook video seems like a way of ensuring fans that the family-specific themes of the series remain intact. Mia is coming back, which will only ramp up the nostalgia factor for longtime fans.

The Hobbs/Shaw spin-off is currently slated to debut in theaters on July 26, 2019, and Fast and Furious 9 will follow one year later on April 10, 2020. The Fast & Furious cast is like family, and like any family, some members occasionally miss the reunion. Filming has wrapped in Fast 8, the next chapter in the long running muscle-cars-and-mayhem series, and while the production has been marked by in-house feuds and death-defying stunts, there's one cast member who sat all of this out. We haven't heard anything about Jordana Brewster's character, Mia Toretto, being part of this action, and that's because, as she just revealed in an interview, she's not in the next movie. Brewster was asked if she wrapped shooting on Fast 8 yet, and she confirmed:

If they are done, and you are not in it "so far," that likely means you are not in it. Right? I mean, true, the Fast & Furious franchise has a way of bringing characters back in end-credits sequences, as when Vin Diesel popped up in the end of Tokyo Drift:

So yeah, it's possible that Jordana Brewster will be called on to shoot a Fast 8 scene sometime in the near future that director F. Gary Gray can use as a stinger. But let me tell you why I don't think that will happen. Because, like it or not, Brewster's character of Mia was tied to Paul Walker's Brian, and we all know that Brian can't come back. When Furious 7 bid farewell to Walker on the beach -- then let him get in one last race thanks to the magic of CGI -- they said goodbye to Mia (and Brewster) as well. From everything that we can tell, the Fast & Furious franchise is moving in a fresh direction, and I'd be willing to bet that they are leaving Brewster behind.

Not that the Fast family still needs Jordana Brewster. The latest sequel will keep Kurt Russell from Furious 7, and add newcomers Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron as the story's main villain. This, in addition to staples such as Vin Diesel, The Rock, Tyrese, Ludacris, and Michelle Rodriguez, and you have a stacked deck. So, this probably is goodbye for Brewster. We'll know for sure when this movie opens on April 14, 2017.

Undercover agents have been all the rage this year on the silver screen, whether they have been men from U.N.C.L.E., Kingsmen, or a dude on an impossible mission. So, where are the ladies? This is the right time to bring back Charlie’s Angels, and Pitch Perfect 2 director Elizabeth Banks may be the ideal candidate for the gig.

But who would Banks cast as the next generation of Angels? The last time we saw the ass-kicking ladies on screen, they were personified by Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore. Even though Barrymore recently confided plans for a potential third movie, this franchise reset likely would look for fresh faces to fill its titular trio. We went ahead and picked 9 beautiful and talented actresses who we think would have the chemistry, the comedic chops and the action background needed to play one of Charlie’s Angels. Who did we miss? Zoe Saldana

Based on both the original television show and the two McG movies, Charlie’s three Angels need to have specific qualities if they are going to fly. They need to be attractive. They need to be resilient. They need to be intelligent. And they need to be funny. Saldana has ticked off all of those boxes in big-budget fare ranging from Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek to The Losers and Colombiana. Her Avatar commitments might keep her from signing on, but I think I’d rather see her in an Angels adventure then in more Pandora excursions.

Olivia Munn

Prior to Olivia Munn being cast as Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, I’m not sure her name would have popped to mind for an action/comedy hybrid I’m assuming Charlie’s Angels will be (especially if Elizabeth Banks directs, as is rumored). Her ninja training videos have changed my mind, though. Plus, Munn has the right sense of humor to make cheeky material like Angels palatable. A lot of this will depend on who she’d be able to play off of, but I think Munn would bring an attitude and a physicality that the new Angels series could build on.

Lea Seydoux

A little international flavor for these new Angels. Lea Seydoux is an alluring French actress who has turned heads in provocative movies like The Lobster, Inglourious Basterds and Blue if the Warmest Color. But she’s no stranger to popcorn Hollywood fare, having appeared in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (where she battled with another lady on our wish list) and an upcoming James Bond thriller. That experience would prove invaluable if Sony and Banks wanted Seydoux to try her hand at being an Angel. Plus, we’d love to see a lighter side to this stunning actress… if there is one.

Rinko Kikuchi

Here’s a potential silver lining to Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim 2 being shelved indefinitely. Rinko Kikuchi can now become one of Charlie’s Angels! Those who caught the versatile actress in Pacific Rim know she can handle herself in fight sequences (look at her training photo above). Meanwhile, Rian Johnson tapped into her comedic talents in The Brothers Bloom. She’d be a welcome addition to a new Angels trilogy, which would introduce her to a wider global audience. Win win.

Paula Patton

Remember all of those things I said earlier? The qualities an Angel must possess? Looks. Intelligence. Humor. Paula Patton has all of this in spades. The one thing the actress has yet to add to her impressive resume, though, is a franchise. She has been a part of Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible films – going toe-to-toe with Lea Seydoux in Ghost Protocol. But she deserves more, and Sony could do well to recruit her to a multi-picture contract for Charlie’s before Marvel or Star Wars swoops down and finds the right role for her.

Megan Fox

Can someone rescue Megan Fox from shitty franchise Hell? It’s not enough that the poor girl had to do multiple Transformers movies? We’re now punishing her by sticking her in numerous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles adventures? Who is her agent?! Fox is beautiful, and often proves that she’s in on the joke, not the butt of it. She absolutely can handle her own in action, and would bring that spunky Kate Jackson tone to a new Angels gathering. Also, working with a female director like Elizabeth Banks might help bring out a different side of Fox (and not the sensual side that male directors rush to highlight).

Jordana Brewster

When Furious 7 retired Paul Walker’s character, Brian, it basically attached Jordana Brewster’s character to his fate. I’d be stunned if Mia (Brewster) showed up in Fast 8, so the timing is perfect for Brewster to break free of her signature series and join a new one. Because she has been overshadowed by the larger than life action heroes of the Furious world, I’m not entirely sure if Brewster is funny enough, smart enough or skilled enough to contribute to a Charlie’s Angels franchise. But I’m more than willing to find out.

Scarlett Johansson

Here’s where we start to reach with our wish list, though not too far out of the realm of possibility. Remember, Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu were established stars when they appeared on screen in Charlie’s Angels (though not as big as ScarJo). Still, if Johansson wanted to distance herself from Marvel and anchor a franchise of her own – while also supporting Grrrl Power femininity on the big screen – this could be the ideal series for her goals. We know she can kick ass. We know that she’s funny. She’d be a dream candidate. Could Sony convince her to give it a try?

Jennifer Lawrence

Why not reach for the stars, right? Jennifer Lawrence has had two major franchises eating out of the palm of her Oscar-winning hand. But here’s the thing. Both are drawing to a close (if the rumors that X-Men: Apocalypse Is her final turn as Mystique). We know that she entertained the thought of becoming a Ghostbuster for Paul Feig. And she needs a franchise that taps into her obvious sense of humor. Angels sums up everything that Jennifer Lawrence specializes in (though, in truth, she basically specializes in everything). Landing J-Law as an Angel immediately elevates this reboot to blockbuster status. If we wish hard enough, do we think it might come true?

Thanks to tweets and on-set photos, there isn't a great deal of mystery surrounding the cast of Fast Five, the next installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise. It's been well established that the film would be a reunion of sorts, bringing back characters from previous installments, including Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Paul Walker and Vin Diesel. Now, casting has been officially announced and has come paired with an official synopsis.

In addition to confirming that the film's events will take place after those in Fast & Furious, the release confirms the presence of Jordana Brewster, Gal Gadot, Matt Schulze, Tego Calderon, Don Omar, and, the big new addition, Dwayne Johnson as federal agent Luke Hobbs. Scope it all out below.
