The superhero genre continues to be wildly popular, and is showing no signs of slowing. But before shared universes helped the genre become commonplace the X-Men movies brought mutants to life in live-action. Aside from the main installments, we also got two solo movies for Hugh Jackman's Logan, starting with X-Men Origins: Wolverine (which is streaming with a Disney+ subscription). And actor Josh Holloway's story about losing the role of Gambit revealed how brutal the film industry can be.

While Channing Tatum played Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine (and will reprise his role as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast), the fan-favorite mutant got his live-action debut in the first Wolverine movie. Actor Taylor Kitsch played the Ragin' Cajun, but it turns out that role very nearly went to Holloway. The Lost star recently appeared at Fan Expo Portal, via Collider, and shared the wild story about being cast as Gambit, and then having the role taken away from him. In his words:

Ouch. While auditioning and not booking roles is hard enough, the idea of being congratulated for landing a major gig like X-Men Origins: Wolverine and then the studio changing their mind is on another level. Add in the fact that Holloway seemingly lost his chance at playing Gambit due to his age adds extra salt to the wound.

Gambit is a beloved member of the X-Men, so the hype was real around his first live-action adaptation in Origins: Wolverine. It no doubt would have been a big gig for Holloway, who was nearing the end of his tenure as Sawyer in Lost at the time. Alas, he got aged out... despite already getting a verbal job offer after his audition.

While Taylor Kitsch admitted he hadn't seen Channing Tatum's version of Gambit in Deadpool 3, I have to wonder if Josh Holloway ended up ever watching X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I wouldn't blame him if he avoided it after landing the role and having it taken away. And I can only imagine how cool he would have looked suited up in the hero's costume from the blockbuster spinoff.

As previously mentioned, Tatum got to debut as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, and will already have the chance to reprise his role in Avengers: Doomsday. The character also recently appeared in animation during X-Men '97, and in video games via the online title Marvel Rivals.

Josh Holloway continues to work consistently, including a hilarious cameo in The Paper. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is streaming on Disney+, while Tatum's take on Gambit will return to theaters when Avengers: Doomsday is released December 18th as part of the 2026 movie release list.

There have been so many great shows on the 2025 TV schedule so far this year. From the astonishing and thrilling Adolescence to the intense as all hell The Last of Us to the insane comedy of The Studio, there’s been a lot to love. However, I recently stumbled upon a new show that, I kid you not, is the coolest freaking thing on streaming right now. I’m talking about Duster, a ‘70s crime thriller created by J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan that is currently available with a Max subscription.

Following Josh Holloway’s getaway driver Jim “Duster” Ellis and Rachel Hilson’s young FBI agent Nina Hayes as they try to take down a powerful crime boss played by Keith David, has style, Duster has swagger, and it has all the makings to be one of the best crime shows in recent memory. There’s just one thing: I haven’t seen anyone talking about it, and I can’t figure out why.

Duster Is Honestly Too Much Fun, And I've Been Hooked Since Starting

I am only a couple of episodes into Duster at the time of this writing (the show premiered in May 2025), but this show is way too much fun. I’m usually a “too much of a good thing” kind of guy who tries not to overdo it, but Josh Holloway’s reunion with J.J. Abrams is making me question that. I’ll put it this way: if Duster was released all at once, I would have stayed up way too late and binged the whole season in one go. It’s that good.

From the flashy intro that sounds like one of the great theme songs of the ‘70s to the coolness of Holloway’s Jim Ellis to Rachel Hilson as a young yet determined FBI agent to certain pomp and circumstance, the coolness is off the charts here.

I Mean, There's An Episode Where Jim 'Duster' Ellis Steals Elvis' Blue Suede Shoes

This isn’t giving too much away, but in the second episode, Jim “Duster” Ellis has to work with a crime boss named Sunglasses (played by Seinfeld great Patrick Warburton) who agrees to help the getaway driver if he can steal Elvis’ famous blue suede shoes from the King’s Palm Springs estate.

For a minute there, I thought the show wouldn’t go there and we wouldn’t see Duster attempt to steal a pair of iconic shoes from the King of Rock' n Roll for a mysterious crime boss who does business out of a bowling alley. But it happened, and it was at that moment that I realized this show was different.

That Said, I Can't Figure Out Why No One Is Talking About This Show

Though I am obsessed with Duster, I feel like I’m alone on an island whenever I talk about the show and how much I’m enjoying watching it. Sure, there are a few articles here and there, but I haven’t seen any clips show up in the wild, had conversations with other people who’ve watched it, or seen Max promote it all that much. And that’s a shame, because it’s telling a great story with some interesting characters, and a level of coolness that is pretty much unmatched right now.

Is it too much coolness for some to handle? I hope not, because I want this to keep going and going, even after the current business in Season 1 is wrapped up.

New episodes of Duster drop Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Max, and I cannot recommend this show enough!

The list of Taylor Sheridan’s shows feels like it's neverending, and the so the Rolodex of famous actors he’s also gotten into said series also feels infinite. From Kevin Costner’s role as John Dutton in the game-changing Yellowstone to Zoë Saldaña and Jeremy Renner’s turns in shows from Sheridan that aren’t about the Dutton family, the group of actors he’s gathered for these projects is staggering. 

Kevin Costner - Yellowstone 

Kevin Costner is kind of the man who started it all. At the time, he was the most famous person in the Yellowstone cast, and for five seasons he played the patriarch of the modern Dutton family, John Dutton. While he did leave Taylor Sheridan’s flagship western after the first half of Season 5, there’s no denying how much this character gave to the show and his career. 

Sam Elliott - 1883 

Some of Sam Elliott’s best movies, like Tombstone, are Westerns. And while Elliott has dabbled in television, there’s no doubt 1883 is a standout moment in his career. He joined Sheridan’s show as Shea Brennan, a Union Civil War veteran who agrees to take a group of immigrants West. He leads the group of pioneers on a journey from Texas to Montana, and Elliott gives a standout performance as the no-nonsense yet emotionally complex leader of the caravan. 

Harrison Ford - 1923 

Harrison Ford had never led a TV show until 2022 when he starred in 1923 as Jacob Dutton. While he’s known and beloved for playing Indiana Jones and Han Solo in film franchises, the Yellowstone prequel series was a fantastic turn in his career as he reunited with Helen Mirren, and led the spectacular cast of 1923. 

Zoë Saldaña - Lioness 

There are so many actors on this list who we likely never thought we’d see leading a TV series because they’re big movie stars. Well, if you’ve seen the Avatar movies or the Marvel movies in order, you’re aware that Zoë Saldaña has been busy for years between those and other projects. However, she joined the cast of Lioness in 2023 Joe, a CIA operative. 

Helen Mirren -1923 

Cara Dutton is one of the leaders of the Dutton household, and Helen Mirren plays her perfectly. She’s a confident Irish woman who knows how to run her household, and she and her husband Jacob are a perfect pair. Part of the reason why is Mirren and Harrison Ford are an excellent couple is they came back together for this project after working together on The Mosquito Coast in 1986. 

Tim McGraw - 1883 

When you think of Tim McGraw, country music is likely the first thing that comes to mind. However, he’s also a great actor, and 1883 proved that as he led the series as James Dutton, the man who moved his family from Tennessee to Montana to the ranch that is known today as The Yellowstone. McGraw played the character – alongside his wife Faith Hill who plays Margaret Dutton – for the first time in Yellowstone, and then after that, he signed on to make this miniseries about the Dutton’s big move. 

Kelly Reilly -Yellowstone 

Kelly Reilly was an established character actor before this, but Yellowstone made her a star. Her turn as Beth Dutton is magnificent, and watching her spar with Wes Bentley’s Jamie Dutton and fall in love with Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler are two of the reasons why she’s one of the major highlights of Taylor Sheridan’s flagship series. 

Billy Bob Thornton- 1883 

If you want to see the power of Taylor Sheridan and his casts, look no further than the fact that he got Billy Bob Thornton to make a cameo as Marshal Jim Courtright in Episode 2 of 1883. After that, he went on to sign up to lead Sheridan’s show Landman. However, the television journey within this Paramount universe began on the Yellowstone prequel.  

Jeremy Renner - Mayor Of Kingstown 

After starring in Taylor Sheridan’s film Wind River, Jeremy Renner collaborated with him again by joining the cast of his and Hugh Dillon’s show Mayor of Kingstown. The Avengers actor plays the titular Mayor, Mike McLusky, and he helps broker power between law enforcement, the prison and the power players in the town.  

Cole Hauser - Yellowstone 

Rip Wheeler was branded with the Y when he was young, and he’s given it to many ranch hands who live and work on the Yellowstone. While he’s not a Dutton by blood (though he is by law since he married Beth), he’s arguably one of the most loyal members of the family. Cole Hauser is the man behind this beloved character. While he had roles in big movies like Good Will Hunting, Dazed and Confused and 2 Fast 2 Furious, this part is arguably what made him a star.  

Faith Hill - 1883 

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have been married since 1996, and in 1883 they played the married couple Margaret and James Dutton. Hill is best known for her music and she had a few minor acting roles earlier in her career. However, this Yellowstone prequel was her first leading role, and she killed it as the surefire, tough and loving pioneer and mother.  

Tom Hanks - 1883 

You’ll probably do a double take when you see Tom Hanks as General George Meade in Episode 2 of 1883. The iconic actor appeared in a flashback that showed Tim McGraw’s character fighting in the Civil War. While we know him for starring in massive movies like Saving Private Ryan and Sleepless in Seattle, in this Taylor Sheridan show, he played a small yet impactful part in this sweeping story.  

David Oyelowo - Lawmen: Bass Reeves 

From The Butler and Selma, David Oyelowo is a formidable actor known best for his roles in these historic dramas. In 2023, he joined Sheridan’s series Lawmen: Bass Reeves, to play the titular man who was the first Black deputy U.S. Marshall. 

Wes Bentley - Yellowstone 

Jamie Dutton is a fascinating character. He’s not a cowboy like his brothers, and he’s always butting heads with his sister Beth. His story is complex and driven by his confusion about his place in his family. Wes Bentley plays this complex and often villainous character so well, and it’s a great addition to his already impressive career that includes films like American Beauty and The Hunger Games.  

Rita Wilson - 1883 

In Episode 6 of 1883, Rita Wilson appears to play a shop owner named Carol. Both she and her husband Tom Hanks had small cameos in this Yellowstone miniseries, and it goes to show how many incredibly famous and talented actors and singers will show up for these shows, even for a small part. 

Shea Whigham - Lawmen: Bass Reeves 

Colonel George Reeves was the Confederate army leader who cheated Bass Reeves out of his freedom. He’s played by Shea Whigham, a fantastic character actor who is known for his roles in TV shows like Perry Mason, Boardwalk Empire and more. It’s also worth mentioning that Lawmen isn’t the first time he’s worked with Sheridan as he had a role in Sicario: Day of the Soldado, which the Yellowstone creator wrote. 

Luke Grimes - Yellowstone 

Much like his on-screen siblings played by Kelly Reilly and Wes Bentley, Luke Grimes had a solid career before Yellowstone. However, his turn as Kayce Dutton made him a household name. Also, on top of his successful acting career, which involves this massive modern Western, he’s a country singer, and his music has been featured in Taylor Sheridan’s show.  

Nicole Kidman - Lioness 

Nicole Kidman plays CIA senior supervisor Kaitlyn Meade in Lioness. Before this, she made an impact in the TV space through the HBO hit Big Little Lies. She also starred in the shows The Undoing and Nine Perfect Strangers before signing on to be part of Taylor Sheridan’s political thriller that airs on Paramount+. 

Sylvester Stallone - Tulsa King 

Other than a few cameos and guest spots here and there, Sylvester Stallone hasn’t really done TV in a big way. However, that changed when he signed on to play Dwight "The General" Manfredi in Taylor Sheridan’s gangster drama Tulsa King. 

Will Patton - Yellowstone 

If you haven’t watched Yellowstone, be warned, there’s a major spoiler ahead! You’ve been warned.

One of the big reveals in Yellowstone came when Jamie found out that John Dutton wasn’t his biological father, and he was adopted. In Seasons 3 and 4, Wes Bentley’s character reconnected with his birth father, Garrett Randall, and he’s played by Will Patton, who is also known for movies like Remember the Titans and Armageddon.  

Morgan Freeman - Lioness 

Of course, Morgan Freeman plays a powerful character in Lioness. The actor with the most illustrious career and seriously iconic voice, joined the Taylor Sheridan show to play Secretary of State Edwin Mullins. 

Dennis Quaid - Lawmen: Bass Reeves 

In Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Dennis Quaid plays Sherrill Lynn. He is one of the series regulars, and like the titular character, he’s a deputy U.S. Marshall. 

Josh Holloway - Yellowstone 

Typically, in a Yellowstone show, one of the Dutton's adversaries is some sort of outsider who is trying to take their land. In Season 3, that guy was named Roarke, and Lost’s Josh Holloway played him. 

Aidan Gillen - Mayor Of Kingstown 

You know and likely love to hate Aidan Gillen as Littlefinger in Game of Thrones. I guarantee you’ll also know and love to hate him as the evil Milo in Mayor of Kingstown too. 

Michael Kelly - Lioness 

Michael Kelly is well known for his roles in action-packed and political thrillers like House of Cards and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. So, his joining Lioness to play the CIA’s deputy director Byron Westfield feels very fitting.  

Donald Sutherland - Lawmen: Bass Reeves 

The late great Donald Sutherland’s final role was as Judge Parker in Lawmen: Bass Reeves. From M*A*S*H to The Hunger Games to Pride and Prejudice, and so much more, his career was truly legendary and he capped it off with this Taylor Sheridan show. 

Josh Lucas - Yellowstone 

When you think of John Dutton, Kevin Costner is understandably probably the first person you think of. However, he’s not the only actor who plays the Yellowstone’s patriarch. In flashbacks, he’s portrayed by Josh Lucas, an actor who is also known for his parts in films like Sweet Home Alabama and Ford v. Ferrari. 

Graham Greene - 1883 

In the finale of 1883, Graham Greene plays Spotted Eagle, a Native American leader who helps guide James Dutton toward what will become his home in Montana. Before this, Greene worked with Sheridan on the film Wind River, and he has a history with other members of the Yellowstone cast as he performed alongside Kevin Costner on Dances with Wolves. 

Jacki Weaver - Yellowstone 

Jacki Weaver – an actress known for her roles in films like Silver Linings Playbook and Animal Kingdom – joined Yellowstone in Season 4 as Caroline Warner. She’s one of the folks who works at Market Equities, and she’s trying to obtain part of the Dutton’s ranch to build an airport.

Jerome Flynn -1923 

Jerome Flynn is best known for playing Bronn – a killer and cynical mercenary – on Game of Thrones. In 1923, he plays Banner Creighton, a rancher who gets into a partnership with a businessman who is trying to take the Dutton’s ranch. 

Andrea Savage - Tulsa King 

You likely know Andrea Savage as a comedic actress because of her roles in shows like I’m Sorry, Episodes and Veep. However, she turned into the dramatic genre and showed off a different side of her range by playing Stacy Beale in Tulsa King. 

Neal McDonough - Yellowstone

You can always count on Neal McDonough to play a really good bad guy. He did it in DC’s Arrowverse as Damien Darhk. He did it in Justified as Robert Quarles. Of course, he did it in Yellowstone too, as he played one of Season 2’s antagonists, Malcolm Beck. 

Overall, the list of performers who have worked on one of Taylor Sheridan’s many shows is overwhelming and growing. From A-listers to legendary character actors, many have said yes to working on these series, and that will likely keep happening as the super producer and writer continues to create. 

James Sawyer, played by Josh Holloway, had some amazing nicknames for his fellow castaways on Lost. Many - or even most - of them were pretty mean, but in a show filled with heavy, intense scenes, and some of the most shocking moments in TV history, it was important to have at least one character that we could laugh at or with when he spouted off a nickname. One of the reasons Lost is a rewatchable show is to catch moments and nicknames you might have missed the first time. Like these, our list of great nicknames from Sawyer. 

Deep Dish - Hurley

Hugo Reyes, aka Hurley, played by Jorge Garcia, was often the target of Sawyer's taunts. They usually focused on Hurley's weight. Sure, that's really mean, but Hurley (and Garcia) took it all in stride. His weight was a major component of his character to shying away from the subject wasn't in anyone's interest. Sawyer calling him "Deep Dish" is a perfect example. 

Tokyo Rose - Sun

We do have to address the casual racism of Sawyer. It's not to be excused, of course, but it still made for some creative nicknames. This is when it's best to laugh at the creativity or even lack of it. Calling Sun (Yunjin Kim) "Tokyo Rose" is insulting on many levels, not the least of which is that Sun is Korean. 

Hobbit - Charlie

This just might be the funniest inside joke on Lost. Charlie is played by Dominic Monaghan. It was Monaghan's second big role in his career. His first, of course, was Meriadoc Brandybuck in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Brandybuck was a hobbit. So while Sawyer is insulting Charlie's height, he's using a great inside joke to do it. 

Moonbeam - Libby

Libby (Cynthia Watros) is a tallie that fans met in Season 2 of Lost. It doesn't take long for Sawyer to come up with a nickname either: Moonbeam. Libby has a pretty relaxed, hippie-like attitude about a lot of things, so the nickname is pretty spot on. 

Jumbotron - Hurley

Sawyer is pretty relentless with Hurley, but honestly, it's pretty hard not to giggle a little a "Jumbotron." No one would ever use that as an insult anywhere in the normal world. Mean? For sure. Creative? Yep. 

Dr. Quinn - Jack

Jack Shephard, played by Matthew Fox, is pretty much the main character on Lost, even among the ensemble cast. He's also frequently at odds with Sawyer, so it stands to reason that Sawyer would have a lot of nicknames for the good doctor. "Dr. Quinn" is among the best, referencing the classic TV show Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. 

Shaft - Mr. Eko

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who played Mr. Eko, had too short of a run on Lost and fans wish he'd stuck around longer. It was long enough to earn a few nicknames, with maybe the best being "Shaft" in reference to the legendary '70s movie. Sawyer was great at quickly referencing pop culture. 

Thelma - Kate

Kate (Evangeline Lilly) was a complicated character on Lost. Despite often being cast as a hero, she could be somewhat unlikeable sometimes. Her love triangle between Jack and Sawyer is a big reason why. Despite all the flirting, Sawyer could still get his digs in, like calling her "Thelma" in reference to the movie Thelma & Louise when she struck out looking for revenge one time. 

Yoda - Ben

Michael Emerson joined the cast as "Henry Gale" late in Season 2 of Lost. Eventually, we learned his real name was Ben Linus. He was full of wisdom and never afraid to let everyone know just how smart he was, leading to Sawyer calling him "Yoda." 

Colonel Kurtz - Locke

John Locke (Terry O'Quinn) is one of the most important characters throughout the entire run of the show. As such, he's often the target of Sawyer's insults and nicknames. One of the funniest has got to be "Colonel Kurtz" in reference to Marlon Brando's character in Apocalypse Now. It's just perfect for a bald guy in the jungle, right? If only he could have stayed out in the jungle, away from Sawyer...

Han - Michael

In Season 1, Sawyer gets in on building the raft with Michael (Harold Perrineau) and Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) and this leads to a slew of nicknames for both of them. While on the raft, he refers to them collectively as "Han" (Michael) and "Chewie" (Jin) as they try to drive the janky raft, much like the famous duo do with the janky Millennium Falcon in the Star Wars movies. 

Magic Leprechaun - Desmond

Henry Ian Cusick's character Desmond is introduced in a flashback in Season 1, but it's really at the beginning of Season 2 when we start to learn all about him. When Sawyer calls him "Magic Leprechaun" it makes it easy to laugh at Sawyer. Desmond, you see, is Scottish, not Irish, but a guy like Sawyer just doesn't care about the important distinction. 

Captain Bligh - Michael

One of the many nicknames Sawyer uses on Michael while they are on the raft at the end of Season 1 is "Captain Bligh," referring of course to the sadistic captain of the HMS Bounty in Mutiny on the Bounty. 

Reject From VH1's Has-Beens - Charlie

"(You All) Everybody" is a hit song by Charlie's band, Drive Shaft. Drive Shaft was sort of like a store-brand version of Oasis, right down to the bickering brothers. They also seem exactly like the type of band that would have appeared on VH1 as a has-been band from a bygone era. The fact that Sawyer tosses in the "reject" part makes the insult even more biting. 

Red Beret - Sayid

Of all the characters on Lost that Sawyer is racist towards, Sayid (Naveen Andrews) has it the worst. Some of them are incredibly horrid, but "Red Beret" is actually pretty creative. Sayid is a former member of the Iraqi Republican Guard, who were famous for the red berets they wore. 

Sheena - Kate

Sheena, Queen of the Jungle, is one of the many comic book references scattered through Lost. On the island, Kate is the group's very own queen of the jungle, so Sawyer pulling out this gem is pretty hilarious. It's a deep cut that not everyone would get, which makes it all the better. 

Chewie - Jin

When Michael builds the raft, his right-hand man is Jin. The two bicker the whole time, but they build a bond. Just like Han and Chewie in the Star Wars movie. Sawyer uses the "Chewie" nickname for Jin a couple of times when in reference to the raft and shortly after they wash back up on the island. 

Rambina - Ana Lucia

It doesn't take long for Sawyer to come up with a quick-witted name for Ana Lucia (Michelle Rodriguez). After she is thrown into the pit with them, the first time she's seen on the island, Sawyer calls her "Rambina" which is, frankly, the perfect nickname for her character at that point. She's one of the toughest women on the island, befitting the name. 

Stay-Puff - Hurley

Sawyer is clearly a member of Generation X. A lot of his nicknames stem from that. Take, for example, calling Hurley "Stay Puff." Anyone causally referencing Ghostbusters and the marshmallow man at the end has to be Gen X. Sure, it's another shot at Hurley's weight, but it's also creative! 

Cool Hand - Jack

Towards the end of Season 2, tension had been building between Sawyer and Jack over some medicine Sawyer was refusing to share with the group. What starts as a friendly game of poker for fruit, turns into a showdown between the two over the meds. Jack wins, earning the nicknames "Amarillo Slim" and "Cool Hand" from Sawyer. 

Mr. Miyagi - Jin

Sometimes Sawyer's prejudices get the better of him. When he calls Jin Mr. Miyagi, he's not trying to be racist, it's almost like a compliment, but really, it's just problematic. Though somewhat creative, and another clue that Sawyer's pop culture knowledge is limited mostly to the 1980s. 

Daniel Boone - Locke

John Locke spent a lot of time on the island alone. What he's doing isn't always exactly clear, except that he's exploring. Daniel Boone is one of the most famous American explorers, and a man who had no problem living off the land, just like Locke in Lost. 

Donger - Miles

Okay, okay. So this is an insult that references a movie that in and of itself is pretty problematic. "Donger," which Sawyer calls Miles (Ken Leung) is a reference to Gedde Watanabe's character Long Duk Dong in Sixteen Candles. That character is problematic as is Sawyer using the nickname for another Asian man. It's a great way to laugh at Sawyer, not with him. 

Ponce De Leon - Ana Lucia

Sawyer seems to have pretty good knowledge of great explorers and uses them a few times. One time it's Daniel Boone for Locke, another is Ponce De Leon for Ana Lucia as she leads the group of tallies through the jungle to meet up with the main group of survivors on the beach. 

Metro - Jack

"Metro" was a term in a specific time, notably the time Lost aired in the mid-00s. It's a description that soon fell out of favor, but it fits perfectly in this time and place on Lost. And yes, it's definitely a way to describe Matthew Fox in almost any of his roles, including Jack. 

Bluebeard - Michael

Most of Sawyer's most creative nicknames for Michael come from the time building and sailing the raft at the end of Season 1. Many of them are great nautical references, even calling him Magellan at one point. "Bluebeard" is meant to be in reference to a pirate, but the character comes from French folklore that has nothing to do with crime on the high seas. This makes it both creative and factually incorrect, perfect for Sawyer. 

Betty - Sun

It's hard to pinpoint why Sawyer called Sun "Betty" after Betty White, is so funny, but it just is. It's maybe the deepest cut on this list too. He calls her that just after Jin finds out she secretly speaks English, and the reference is to the Betty White movie "Liar's Club." Yeah, it's an obscure one, for sure, but that's part of what made Lost so great. 

Mr. Clean - Locke

Many of Sawyer's nicknames for Locke reference Locke's bald head. "Mr. Clean" is one of the more obvious ones, of course. Still, in the '80s Mr. Clean commercials were all over daytime TV and there isn't anyone around from that era who doesn't think of Mr. Clean as the quintessential "bald guy" on TV, with all due respect to Telly Savalas' character Kojak. 

The Artist Formerly Known As Henry Gale - Ben

When audiences first met Ben Linus on Lost, he used the pseudonym "Henry Gale." There are some great theories as to where it came from, but for many, the best thing about it is when Sawyer pulls out a reference to The Purple One, Prince, and the era when he went by "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince" during a dispute with his record company. 

Dr. Giggles - Jack

Dr. Giggles is a long-forgotten horror movie from the early '90s. Just referencing the movie must have had some fans of Lost jumping for joy because of the obscurity. It's also kinda the perfect nickname for Jack, who rarely lets his guard down and is very serious most of the time. 

Barbar - Hurley

Well, he finally did it. Sawyer finally just came out and called Hurley an elephant. Specifically the beloved "Babar." It comes in a particularly tense moment between the characters as they trudge through the jungle together. There is just something so funny about the name "Babar" used in any context, even as an offensive insult. 

Sulu - Jin

TV references were always a key part of Sawyer's nicknames. It might seem like calling Jin "Sulu" in reference to the iconic character played by George Takai in Star Trek is just another lazy reference based on Jin's race. But you have to remember Jin was steering the raft at the time and Sulu was the pilot of the USS Enterprise. So, really, it's pretty perfect. 

A lot of famous actors came and went on Lost over the years, but for the most part, the nicknames were reserved for the regulars. The cast members who made up the core of the cast. 

When you've been around as long as NCIS has, there are bound to be a ton of big stars who have made cameos or had early roles in their career on the show. Some of the biggest stars of today have popped up on the long-running CBS procedural. Here is a list of quite a few stars who have appeared on NCIS.

Millie Bobby Brown

Before Millie Bobby Brown hit the really big time as Eleven in Stranger Things, she was working steadily from a young age. One of her first roles on American television came in Episode 6 of Season 12 of NCIS back in 2014. She had only had a couple of roles before it. 

Glen Powell

Glen Powell has emerged as one of the biggest stars around. His first huge break came in Top Gun Maverick, and even though that made him an A-lister, he'd been a working actor for decades at that point, going back to roles he had as a kid. An early role in his adulthood came in Season 10 of NCIS, where he played a Marine in a double episode. 

Lily Tomlin

You just never knew who might show up on NCIS. In Season 9 viewers were treated to an appearance by the legendary Lily Tomlin. In true Tomlin style, she plays a quirky but capable grandmother to one of the team members, McGee (Sean Murray). 

Billy Dee Williams

If fans ever wondered why Gibbs (Mark Harmon) had the first name Jethro, they learned why in Season 10. In the episode, the great Billy Dee Williams plays Jethro Moore, a World War II hero, and Gibbs' father's best friend. Moore and the older Gibbs had had a falling out, but by the end, the younger Gibbs had smoothed everything out between them. 

Jamie Lee Curtis

Hollywood legend Jamie Lee Curtis had a bit more than just a cameo. On the show she played Dr. Samantha Ryan over five episodes towards the end of Season 9 plays a possible love interest for Gibbs, but alas it was not meant to be and she is forced to go into hiding, never to be heard from again on the show. 

Terry O'Quinn

In the early days of NCIS, there was another show about to make its network debut: Lost. It turns out that quite a few actors who became known for their roles on Lost also popped up on NCIS around the same time. One is none other than John Locke himself, Terry O'Quinn. O'Quinn plays a Marine Colonel in an episode in the show's first season. 

Danica McKellar

Danica McKellar is best known as Winnie Cooper in The Wonder Years. She also had a great, if somewhat brief, run in The West Wing as Will's sister. On NCIS, she appeared in the Season 2 episode called "Witness," as the titular witness of a crime. In the years since McKellar has found a home in made-for-TV Christmas movies and remains popular with her fans. 

Sean Astin

Sean Astin has carved out a pretty amazing career. His very first role, as Mikey in The Goonies, is one of the most beloved movie characters of all time. Plus he was in that little trilogy known as the Lord of the Rings, something he was nervous about. More recently, he was a key cast member of Stranger Things. In between, he was never not working, including a guest spot in Season 9 of NCIS. 

Taye Diggs

You could say that Taye Diggs got back to his roots in his guest appearance in Season 13. While Diggs plays a Marine on the show, he's a marine with the voice of an angel and at the end of the show, Diggs sings "Hallelujah" with the help of the real-life MusiCorps Wounded Warrior Band. Diggs, of course, got his start on Broadway in musicals like Carousel and Rent. 

Samantha Logan

Samantha Logan is best known for roles in Netflix's 12 Reasons Why and CW's All American, but before both of those roles she played the daughter of a character played by Taye Diggs on NCIS. Logan made her acting debut way back in 2009 when she was just 13 and had a small role in Gossip Girl. 

Bob Newhart

What can we say about the late, great Bob Newhart? His TV career is the stuff of legends with two massively popular shows that bore his name and for a younger generation, he'll always be Will Farrell's character's adoptive father in Elf. He also popped up in NCIS, playing a character very much in his wheelhouse. 

Jon Cryer

Jon Cryer started his career in some classic '80s movies like Pretty In Pink and Morgan Stewart's Coming Home. In the 2000s, he became a TV legend as one of the men in Two and a Half Men. He's since even played Lex Luthor, in the Supergirl TV show. Somehow he also found the time to pop into an episode of NCIS playing a battlefield doctor. 

Drew Carey

He started in stand-up. Then had a hit show named after himself. Then he became a superstar of daytime TV as the host of The Price is Right. Drew Carey has done it all, including showing up for one episode of NCIS as a retired marine. Carey was a marine in real life, so the role is actually perfect.  

Michelle Obama

Okay, okay so technically Michelle Obama isn't an actress, but she did show up in one episode of NCIS while she was First Lady of the United States. She played herself of course, there's no way she could be anyone but herself, right? She welcomed Gibbs and others to the White in an episode called "Homefront."

Abigail Breslin

As one of the youngest Oscar nominees ever, at age 10, you might think that Abigail Breslin just burst on the scene in Little Miss Sunshine. That's not the case though. Breslin was already a working actor with a bunch of credits on her resume, including a supporting role in one episode of NCIS in the Season 2 premiere. 

Sterling K. Brown

The Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning actor Sterling K. Brown was a veteran of prime-time TV long before his own show, This Is Us, made people cry every week. As he was coming up in Hollywood, he popped up on all kinds of network shows, including one episode of NCIS in 2013.

Dean Norris

Dean Norris is most famous for Breaking Bad, but he's been snagging roles for decades. One role was as a Marine in a very early episode of NCIS. In Episode 12 of Season 1, Norris plays a soldier with a past run-in with Gibbs when Gibbs was still an MP.

Zac Efron

Zac Efron became a huge star thanks to movies like High School Musical and Neighbors, but he was a child long before those movies exploded. One of his early roles came in a Season 3 episode of NCIS where he played a trouble-making kid that he was perfect for. 

Jesse Plemons

A quick glance at Jessie Plemons resume will show that the actor took the long road to fame. While he would eventually be leading men and key supporting characters in some of Hollywood's biggest movies, he started more humbly. One such example is his role as a teenager getting in trouble with the team at NCIS on the show. 

Colin Hanks

Tom Hanks is often called "America's Dad" and so that must make Colin Hanks our collective brother, right? Well, maybe not, but he is a great actor in his own right and he shows it in roles like the one he starred in on NCIS in two episodes at the end of Season 10. 

Sherilyn Fenn

As one of the breakout stars of Twin Peaks in the '90s, Sherilyn Fenn is no stranger to network TV. With over 100 credits to her name on IMDB, she's been on shows all over the dial over the last 30 years or so. One of those credits came in Season 1 of NCIS.

Josh Holloway

Josh Holloway's star shined the brightest when he starred as Sawyer in Lost starting in the fall of 2004. Just a few months before that, he played a local sheriff in Season 1 of NCIS. Since then, he's been a regular in shows like Yellowstone, Colony, and Intelligence. 

Frank Whaley

It's crazy to think that Frank Whaley's career goes all the way back to the '80s. IT's even crazier to realize he's over 60 years old now. The guy hasn't aged a day since Career Opportunities in 1991. Come to think of it, neither has his co-star in that movie, Jennifer Connelly. Connelly, however, hasn't been in an episode of NCIS and Whaley has, playing an escaped convict. 

Jim Rash

Jim Rash is most beloved for playing the hapless dean of the community college in Community, but he's been in tons of over shows. He's been in some quirky shows too, like a voice role in Mike Tyson's Mysteries and as a semi-regular on Reno 911!. He's a writer as well, co-writing the George Clooney movie The Descendants. He also found time to star in an episode of NCIS way back in it's first season. 

Julie Benz

Julie Benz's first big TV role was on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and later its spinoff Angel, playing Darla. Later she was a regular on Hawaii Five-O and Defiance. In Episode 22 of Season 1 of NCIS, Benz played the grieving wife of a soldier. 

Emilie De Ravin

It turns out that NCIS was a good place for cast members of Lost to star right before they all got super famous on the ABC show. Emilie de Ravin is one of those stars who appeared in a Season 1 episode of the show just like her fellow Lost cast members Josh Holloway and Terry O'Quinn. 

Bellamy Young

Before Bellamy Young became a regular on the hit show Scandal, she worked on a lot of shows on TV, including two early episodes of Law & Order, where she played two different roles, something it turns out a lot of actors did. Young played an undercover ATF agent in an episode in Season 1 of NCIS.

Daphne Zuniga

For anyone who grew up in the 1980s, Daphne Zuniga will always be Princess Vesper in Mel Brooks' classic Space Balls and Alison in The Sure Thing alongside John Cusack. In the 2020s she was still turning in great performances, like that of a Navy commander with very questionable motives in a Season 17 episode of NCIS.

Zoe Perry

In The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon's mother was played by the great Laurie Metcalfe. When the spinoff Young Shelton hit the airwaves. Zoe Perry took over the role and played it perfectly. She had a lot of experience at that point, including a guest spot as a police officer in two episodes of NCIS during the show's 13th season.

Ray Wise

Ray Wise is one of the great character actors of his generation. He's most famous for playing Leland Palmer, the father-turned-murderer in Twin Peaks, but his career stretches back to the 1960s. On NCIS he plays the father of a guy who thinks he's a superhero, which as you can imagine, he has no patience for in Episode 15 of Season 9. 

Tyler Ritter

Actor Tyler Ritter, who is the son of the beloved John Ritter, seems to pop up all over the place. He's played a detective in Arrow, he was in Homecoming, and he played  Abby Sciuto's (Pauley Perrette) brother Luca in an NCIS crossover event with NCIS: New Orleans when the spinoff began. 

Don Lake

You might not know his name, but you know his face, especially if you are a fan of the Christopher Quest-verse. Don Lake was a cast member in Waiting for Guffman, Best In Show, A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, and even Mascots. Usually, he plays the straight man, but that doesn't mean he's not hilarious. Even in serious roles, like his in a Season 17 episode of NCIS, you can't help but crack a smile when he's on screen. 

Before we were addicted Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad, ABC’s Lost hooked many between 2004 and 2010. But once the controversial Lost finale aired, no spinoffs or reboots have spawned, which these days is surprising for such a popular property. However, one Lost veteran has shared that there were once plans for another series starring some of the characters, and it would have been a huge departure from the original. 

Ken Leung, who played Miles Straume on Lost from Season 4 to the final sixth season, shared with The Independent about dropped plans to spinoff Lost. When asked about the possible return of Lost, he said this: 

As you may recall, Leung’s character of Miles became a good friend to Josh Holloway’s Sawyer long after the character was introduced. And apparently, it was contemplated that those characters return for a True Detective-like series starring Miles and Sawyer, but clearly, it never happened. 

As a mega Lost fan, it’s a fun idea, especially if it was on the island, because there’s a lot of questions that were never answered about the show. However, at the same time – SPOILER ALERT – all the characters die, and it would have been odd (and honestly undercut the finale) if they just showed up a year later alive and well and as buddy detectives. 

But it’s been over a decade now. While this particular spinoff idea feels a bit random nowadays, it’d be intriguing if the creators decided to further explore Lost and its mysterious setting in a new context, or found a way to bring the original cast together, because they were all incredible together. Lost was groundbreaking at the time and really paved the way for dramatic television, but these days the only thing close to it is the NBC-turned-Netflix series Manifest, which has even called out its comparisons. 

Since wrapping Lost, Ken Leung has gone on to be part of many shows, most notably with The Night Shift and Industry. The actor was also recently part of M. Night Shyamalan's Old cast and he is set to be part of the upcoming live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender Netflix series. In the Avatar project, he’ll play Commander Zhao, who is the leader of the Fire Nation Navy and a rival to the franchise’s hero, Aang. It is expected to hit the TV schedule in 2023. 

It's not unusual for people in the TV industry to work together on multiple projects during their time in the business, and this tends to be especially true when they've already struck broadcast gold together. Such is the case with current Yellowstone star Josh Holloway, who's still beloved by many for his role as Sawyer on Lost, and will be reuniting with that show's co-creator, J.J. Abrams, on a new series for HBO Max that sounds as though it will be perfectly wild.

According to Variety, Josh Holloway has now signed on to star in a new drama for HBO Max from J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan (Shameless, The Walking Dead), titled Duster. The series will see Holloway star as the currently-unnamed lead character, who just so happens to be a "gutsy getaway driver" for a crime syndicate. If that doesn't sound action-packed and wild enough for you, Holloway's character is working for a criminal enterprise which happens to be growing by leaps and bounds (Yay?), which will take his already "awful" life to "wildly, stupidly, dangerously awful." On top of all that, Duster will be set in the Southwest of the 1970s.

Truth be told, I can already picture the car chases and insanely '70s fashions which will be sure to come our way with Duster. It sounds like a perfect compliment to all of the new projects coming to the streamer, many of which will also be due to J.J. Abrams, as he signed an overall deal with WarnerMedia, HBO Max's parent company, where LaToya Morgan has her own deal with the media giant.

Abrams is also working on content for the streamer based on the DC comics properties Constantine and Justice League Dark, is working on a series set in the world of Stephen King's The Shining, called Overlook, and also has original series Subject to Change in the works, as well as a show for HBO proper, the sci-fi drama Demimonde.

Of course, we cannot ignore the fact that Duster also sounds like a perfect compliment to Josh Holloway's recent role on Yellowstone Season 3 as smooth-talking, upstanding businessman-appearing Roarke Carter. Even though the character was deliciously flirty with Beth, he eventually revealed himself to be after the Dutton family's land in a major way, and we saw that Roarke was willing to do pretty much anything to try and get his way.

The constantly simmering notes of danger and double-crosses which Josh Holloway helped to amp up on Yellowstone are known well to the actor from his time on the twisty-turny, and sometime very confusing, Lost, which he appeared on for its entire six season run. Holloway seems pretty well-suited to bring the same kind of intensity to viewers on Duster, while also being able to deliver all of his dimple-cheeked charm and some good old fashioned "I can't believe I got myself into this mess" relatability to a man who's very much doing less than admirable things.

Duster is still in the very early stages, so there's no word yet on how many episodes there will be, other casting, or when it might hit the streamer. In the meantime, though, feel free to check out our guide to early 2021 TV to see what you can watch right now!

Yellowstone is gearing up for its Season 3 finale, and Josh Holloway’s Roarke is heading for the center of it. The teaser trailer for this Sunday’s episode revealed Roarke and Dutton patriarch John Dutton finally coming face to face with each other, a development unleashed before the season even began. And if you think Roarke is not afraid of the Duttons, you would be correct.

Roarke has been working overtime along with Market Equities to get the Duttons’ land, even recruiting one of John’s old foes to do his bidding. Ahead of Yellowstone’s Season 3 finale, that threat is out of the way, and Wade Morrow is not the first one to fall at the Duttons’ hand.

When Season 3 began, Roarke came onto the scene fresh from the Duttons’ battle with the Beck brothers. They were both killed in Yellowstone’s previous finale after they orchestrated the kidnapping of Kayce Dutton’s son, Tate. Is Roarke a little nervous going up against the Duttons after what became of their last rival? Josh Holloway told me:

Underestimating your nemesis may be the most dangerous move an opponent can make and, as Josh Holloway has said before, Roarke has made it. The high-flying hedge fund manager has been doing battle with Beth for most of Yellowstone Season 3. Now, he is about to meet the physical muscle.

Kayce Dutton may be out of the equation when it comes to Roarke in Season 3. His dad is another story. John Dutton has some intimidating body language in store for his adversary. So how much does Roarke know about how the Duttons have dealt with past their enemies? Is he unaware of everything that occurred before he arrived? Holloway told me:

Roarke was flirting up a storm with Beth earlier this season. However, Beth has kept her fiancé and her father in the dark regarding the specifics with Roarke. John is about to learn all about him first-hand. Settle in folks, one of the Yellowstone face-offs you have been waiting for is almost here.

Find out what happens between Roarke and the Duttons when the Season 3 finale of Yellowstone airs tomorrow (Sunday, August 23) at 9 p.m. ET on Paramount Network. And after it airs, anticipate this fall’s premieres while you wait for Season 4.

If you think that Roarke’s handling of John Dutton on Yellowstone has not been great, then you are not alone. Josh Holloway thinks Roarke is underestimating John too. Throughout Yellowstone’s third season, Roarke has been working overtime to take the Duttons’ land. He has yet to come face-to-face with John in Season 3, though.

Yellowstone viewers saw a tease of Roarke meeting and clashing with John Dutton in the midseason trailer. The scene has yet to play out, which should mean the “jaw-dropping” Season 3 finale contains it. So, what is Roarke’s assessment of John? Speaking with CinemaBlend, Josh Holloway told me:

If you paid attention to the teasers heading into Season 3, then you've known for a while that Roarke would be a major player this season on Yellowstone. This is the guy that bragged about the Duttons’ days as the largest landowners in the valley almost coming to an end. Well, not if Beth and her father have anything to say about it.

Josh Holloway broke down how Roarke and his company do business, believing they pretty much have the Dutton situation sorted. They have undoubtedly made massive strides. Roarke’s right-hand associate, Willa Hayes, informed Beth that she is out of a job and that Market Equities now has controlling ownership of Beth’s former employer. Next up is facing John Dutton. Speaking about Roarke’s company, Holloway told me:

If only it was that simple for Roarke. The Duttons seem destined to prevail. Yellowstone is named after their ranch, so I would at least anticipate them succeeding to some degree. Of course, the show has taken some shocking directions this season. In the end, you never know. One thing you can be more sure of is what Roarke thinks of John’s eldest living son.

Roarke and Jamie met earlier on Yellowstone when Willa shared Market Equities’ offer for the Duttons’ land. The proposal was incredibly lucrative. They offered the Duttons a whopping $500 million (yes, half a billion) for the property. Since then, Jamie has fallen out of favor with his father over the Beth situation. He has always been the family’s wild card, and Roarke knows it. Holloway told me:

Jamie did eventually take Roarke and Willa’s offer to Kayce to present to Beth, who ultimately took it to John. The Dutton patriarch was unmoved by all the zeroes that comprised the price tag for the property. John is staying true to his promise to his father as revealed last season, and nothing is going to make him budge.

Could Jamie be Roarke’s way in after all is said and done? Wes Bentley has teased that the recent revelation regarding Jamie’s adoption could lead to something “awful.” Jamie had not appeared particularly vengeful on Yellowstone lately. He is just trying to get to know his biological father amid John’s claims about Garrett Randall.

John thinks he has loved Jamie equally to his other children. Time will tell if his treatment of Jamie ends up giving Roarke the edge he needs to overpower the Duttons somehow. Even though, at this point, Roarke seems to be running away with the scoreboard. Never count the Duttons out on Yellowstone!

Spoilers for Yellowstone Season 3, Episode 2 entitled “Freight Train and Monsters” are discussed below.

Yellowstone dropped a Season 3 bomb on Beth when she learned that Josh Holloway’s new character, Roarke, is essentially the point man in acquiring her family’s land, and she learned what he actually wants it for. Goodbye to the late Dan Jenkins’ initial dream of a ski resort! Hello to a sky resort, airport, and – wait for it – an entire city!

To be expected, Beth confronted Roarke over the shocking news, and they exchanged some more hilariously sparky banter. After that conversation, I think Beth more fully realized that the machine that is coming for the Duttons’ land is too big to fight. Of course, being the Beth that we all love, she likely will not stop trying to save the ranch from outsider interesting as Yellowstone Season 3 continues.

I have to admit that things do not look good at all for Yellowstone’s titular ranch. In fact, things have never looked grimmer. Could Kevin Costner's John Dutton sell off a part of it in a bid to keep the rest safe? Maybe, but Josh Holloway was not kidding around about Roarke being a “threat” to the Duttons in Season 3, so it remains to be seen how far he'll go to take control.

Roarke made his point pretty clear during his flirtatious talk with Beth, who was all business, and for the first time since Yellowstone began, it seems like John Dutton is facing an impossible-to-beat adversary. Roarke is running point on a money machine that is impossible to beat. Unlike last season’s adversaries, however, it really is nothing personal, even if the Duttons would all take the loss rather personally.

Roarke's backers are a calculated group with eyes set squarely on John Dutton’s land, and Roarke is primarily the face of everything. If John thinks that “getting rid” of him would solve all of his problems (as it seemed to be teased), there is another person right behind him. Hopefully, that is good news for the longevity of Josh Holloway’s presence on Yellowstone beyond Season 3.

As I said last week, I hope he sticks around for the long haul. Josh Holloway’s Roarke may be working to upend everything the Duttons’ own, but he is doing it with impeccable charisma that the actor's fans expect to see. All of which makes him a delightful adversary. There is a reason to think that he could personally be outmaneuvered, but it has nothing to do with John eventually strong-arming him into submission in Season 3.

For now, this game is mainly Beth’s to win. (Or to lose, in a worst-case scenario for the Duttons.) John’s devoted daughter is already all over it, as this episode of Yellowstone can attest. One trailer for Season 3 showed her telling Roarke that she is “the tornado” and he is the “trailer park,” so you know she is getting fired up to take him down and totally tank his endgame plans.

Watch Josh Holloway’s Roarke continue to stir up trouble for the Duttons throughout this summer as new episodes of Yellowstone air on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Paramount Network. Yellowstone is about to get even more exciting. Before the previous season of Yellowstone even premiered, fans knew that Josh Holloway had joined the cast of the hit Western. Now the Season 3 newcomer is revealing that he will be a “threat” when the show returns.

As you may or may not know at this point, Josh Holloway will be playing Roarke Morris, whose original surname was said to be Carter. Regardless, Holloway is on his way, and as the Season 3 trailer teased, he will figure heavily into Yellowstone’s next chapter. Teasing Roarke, Holloway told TV Insider:

The Duttons had to deal with the Beck brothers last season, and Roarke by no means comes across as villainous as that troubling twosome. Roarke will be wading into dangerous waters by going up against the Duttons. As one of the previously released clips from Season 3 revealed, Yellowstone will have Beth and Roarke on a collision course.

Josh Holloway teases that there will be something between the pair. For fans who want Rip and Beth’s relationship to remain strong, it may be a somewhat bumpy road. As that clip mentioned above showed, there is an undeniable connection. Holloway teases that his new Yellowstone character and Beth will experience some sparks, saying:

Brace yourselves, Yellowstone fans, because this sounds like something game-changing. Just when Beth and Rip seemed indestructible, or at least moving towards some solid ground, in comes Roarke. The trailer for Season 3 indicated that Roarke would be able to hold his own against Beth’s one-liners, so that is an impressive feat.

In related Yellowstone news, Josh Holloway hints that his character is used to the dual nature that the Duttons have periodically embraced to save their own. Roarke apparently knows a thing or two about working illegally and legally, which led Holloway to assess him as a threat. I can bet that Beth will see him that way too in Season 3.

As for Beth’s brother, Kayce, do not expect him and Roarke to cross paths during the latter’s time on Yellowstone. Luke Grimes previously said that he and Josh Holloway did not film any scenes together in Season 3. I join Donnie Wahlberg in being extremely excited to see how all of the contents of Season 3’s trailer will play out.

Josh Holloway is an excellent actor, and Yellowstone has already been renewed for another season. I really hope that whatever transpires in Season 3, Holloway and Roarke will be able to stick around. The show can only benefit from having him around to shake things up. Roarke will definitely be spending some time with Jamie, so it is going to be interesting.

It's the first really good look at what is coming up and offers one heck of an exchange as well.

If you thought that what was coming up between Kelly Reilly’s Beth and Josh Holloway’s Roarke Carter would make for some very compelling television, it seems you were right. Find out how Beth and Roarke meet on Yellowstone and what they make of each other in the Season 3 clip below.

Yes, that was absolutely sensational! Beth and Roarke Carter just squared off, and you can tell he is already intrigued. Beth’s reaction to him is a little more annoyed than enamored at this point. That could change eventually! Kevin Costner did tease “big drama” would lie ahead! One thing is evident from this clip of Yellowstone Season 3, Roarke, and Beth have chemistry! Can you tell I'm excited?

While remaining the Beth/Rip shipper that I am, I suspected that it was a likely scenario ever since Josh Holloway’s Yellowstone casting was announced. What I did not realize is that Holloway’s Roarke would also be in the family ranching business. In the Season 3 scene he says that his family owns Cross Creek Ranch. Interesting!

Whatever is brewing between Beth and Roarke (besides some incredible chemistry), it will not reach the point of him meeting Beth’s brother, Kayce. Luke Grimes has confirmed that he did not film any Yellowstone scenes with Josh Holloway for Season 3. That does provide some clues as to where Roarke’s story may be headed.

I really hope that Beth stays true to Rip, and they can carve out a life together despite Roarke’s potential pursuit of her. Beth starting out Season 3 with a disdain for Roarke is certainly a hopeful sign for her Yellowstone future with Rip. Plus, Cole Hauser had some great things to say about where they are headed.

Beth’s feelings about people do not tend to change too much. Hence, it will be interesting to see if her take on Roarke evolves at all as Season 3 progresses. In related news, the first look clip does seem to indicate that Yellowstone will pick up shortly after its previous season ended.

Beth is still visibly healing from the horrible assault she survived last season that was ordered by the now-deceased Malcolm Beck. Yellowstone picking up shortly after its previous installment means that it will not gloss over anything that happened prior, I'd assume, which is a welcome development if I do say so myself. What lies ahead in Yellowstone Season 3 has me even more excited after watching this clip.

Roarke clearly likes to bend the rules, and Beth is anxious to call him on it. Someone’s charm is certainly not working on Beth Dutton, and I have to imagine that is a rarity for the clearly charismatic Roarke. Cue whatever is meant to come in Yellowstone Season 3. As long as Beth and Rip remain in love, I am here for it.

Yellowstone will return for Season 3 after this winter’s premieres. Season 3 is currently slated to bow this summer on Paramount Network and we'll keep you updated as those new episodes start to come together.

Yellowstone fans have ample reason to be excited about its next season, and one of them is Josh Holloway. The Lost vet’s casting was announced as Season 3 got an early green-light from Paramount Network. There is already one intriguing detail that Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, has revealed about Holloway's run. Grimes had no scenes with him.

Hold the phone! This news heralds a twist for Yellowstone fans hoping to see the actors share the screen. Josh Holloway is set to star as Roarke Carter in Season 3. For reference, Roarke is a hedge fund manager with charm and ambition to boot. There is one Dutton he will not be going toe-to-toe with though, according to Luke Grimes, and that is Kayce. Grimes told Pop Culture:

So, basically, Luke Grimes is confirming that Kayce will not share any scenes with Josh Holloway's Roarke in Yellowstone’s next season. That is a surprising indication of what to anticipate in Season 3. I hoped/expected Roarke to get involved with Beth’s storyline. However, I thought that might lead him to a larger angle with the Duttons.

Roarke is a hedge fund manager. If he were to invest in or get involved with something relating to the ranch, Kayce would theoretically be a point of contact. He is the acting foreman, and Season 3 should see him get even more drawn into the family business. Will Roarke's ambitions somehow connect to the Yellowstone? What does he want in Montana and with Beth?

After the events of Yellowstone’s Season 2 season finale, Josh Holloway's character is coming into a whole different situation. He is one of the many new faces set to star in Season 3, and Luke Grimes is excited to see the scenes he did not film. Grimes also foretold of the show’s ever-evolving narrative between the good and bad guys, saying:

I am super excited to see what Season 3 has in store! Luke Grimes’ Yellowstone co-star, Cole Hauser, has teased some interesting intel. Speaking of Rip’s portrayer, I would expect Rip to share some scenes with Roarke based on Beth’s involvement with him.

If Josh Holloway’s Roarke is not going to be interacting with Kayce, that could potentially rule out scenes with Rip over the Dutton ranch. He is an integral part of it. It would seem that whatever Roarke wants in Yellowstone Season 3, it does not necessarily involve the ranch, or Kayce would be involved.

Of course, Josh Holloway’s character is going to get involved with Beth, and she is Kayce’s sister. You would think that connection alone would put Kayce in scenes with him, but apparently not. So, there is clearly a way for Yellowstone to work Roarke into the ranch’s orbit without him having to share scenes with Kayce.

Yellowstone’s early teaser for Season 3 seemed to reveal Roarke taking in the sights of Montana with Beth. Of course, her heart belongs to Rip, so I do not expect any (much-expected) flirtation to lead to anything. Or at least, I certainly hope it does not. What this means for the Duttons is super interesting.

As long as Yellowstone Season 3 involves more scenes between Kayce’s amazing wife, Monica, and his sister, Beth, I am good to go! Josh Holloway is a great actor, and he always brought it on Lost. So I am a little sad that it sounds like Yellowstone fans will not get to see him square off with Kayce. Their energies are so different!

That said, I trust whatever Yellowstone is doing. The show has earned it. A premiere date for Yellowstone Season 3 has not gotten set yet by Paramount Network. While you wait for the series’ return, you can check out this winter’s premieres.

It’s official! Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone will be back for a third season! The exciting news came before the second season even had a chance to premiere. Yes, ahead of Yellowstone's Season 2 premiere, Paramount Network announced that the drama will return for Season 3. Thus, expect further emotional investment in the upcoming season to pay off with additional episodes.

For those who have not watched, Yellowstone is a modern-day Western that follows the trials and tribulations of the Dutton family. With the action set in Montana, the Duttons own the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. While others fight them for it, inner turmoil within the family provides another combustible ingredient. Kevin Costner plays the Dutton’s patriarch, John.

The official renewal announcement is still hot off the presses, and there is already casting news for Season 3. Brace yourself, because it is sensational. Josh Holloway, who played the roguish Sawyer on ABC’s cult series Lost, has joined the cast of Yellowstone, per Deadline.

The actor will star in a role that is described as being of “major recurring” capacity. Who is he playing? This is where things get increasingly interesting. Yellowstone has cast Josh Holloway as Roarke Carter. Based on the description, he will be keeping his signature longer hairstyle for the role.

Roarke is described as a “handsome” and “charming” hedge fund manager. It is said that his plans in Montana are “ambitious.” Josh Holloway’s character sounds destined to cross paths with John Dutton’s daughter, Beth (Britannia’s Kelly Reilly). He is involved with money and she is too. It will be fun to find out if that theory is correct.

Roarke could be competition to Beth’s on-again-off-again flame, Rip (The Lizzie Borden Chronicles’ Cole Hauser). If he is, hopefully he and Rip will go toe-to-toe in some scenes together. The thought of them facing off is pretty freaking exciting.

The first season of Yellowstone was a hit in the ratings, averaging 5.1 million viewers per episode. Those numbers made it 2018’s most-watched new cable series. Kevin Costner previously revealed why he said “yes” to doing the drama. From the look of one of Season 2’s teasers, the actor will be fist-fighting quite a bit as John Dutton faces increasing turmoil.

In Season 2, Yellowstone will introduce Arrow actor Neal McDonough’s menacing new character, Malcolm Beck. Seeing him and John Dutton interact should be quite a treat.

As someone who got swept away in a fevered binge with the fantastic first season, Yellowstone’s return is a personally welcomed one. I have five things that I hope happens in Season 2. It will be fun to see what gets crossed off the list.

The second season of Yellowstone premieres tonight, Wednesday, June 19 at 10 p.m. ET on the Paramount Network. The dramatic Western is part of summer’s cornucopia of television premieres.

Casting a comic book movie is one of the richest mines for historical "what ifs." Just ask Emily Blunt about the time she was almost Black Widow in Iron Man 2, or even the various actors that were considered for the role of Wolverine over the years that it took to make the first X-Men movie, and they'll tell you that sometimes it just doesn't work out. And now, we can add a new member to that list, as Colony actor Josh Holloway recently revealed he was initially cast as Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He recalls the moment he got the role below:

For one brief, shining moment, Holloway was set to play the Cajun mutant with an accent that could cut its way through a room as fast as one of his cards could, and the actor was ecstatic. In his interview with Digital Spy, he mentioned how upon his casting, he started to actually practice card tricks and attempt said Cajun accent. While he could do a pretty good job with the cards, it was the accent that he felt he really couldn't pull off.

Though as anyone in the business of show will tell you, you can still land a role and manage to lose it for no fault of your own. All of the work that Josh Holloway had done to prepare for his time as Gambit was for naught, as he would lose the role thanks to one of the most powerful forces in Hollywood: studio heads. Holloway went on to explain that he lost the role due to the following conditions:

Eventually, once Josh Holloway was let go from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the role would eventually go to Taylor Kitsch, famous at that time for playing a high school football player on NBC's Friday Night Lights. While this may have seemed like a win for Kitsch at the time, it would eventually turn out to be a pyrrhic victory, as the Hugh Jackman-led X-Men spinoff would live in infamy as a really bad film, killing the entire X-Men Origins line in the process.

Taylor Kitsch's success was ironic for the actor as well, as his career would embark on a pattern of landing roles in films that would kill the franchises they'd hoped to spawn. Meanwhile, Holloway would muddle through with a mixed bag of roles in projects like Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol and Paranoia, eventually making his way to the three year-strong series Colony. The universe works in funny ways, especially when it comes to Hollywood casting.

Colony returns to the USA Network on Wednesday night, while the Gambit movie, which would star Channing Tatum as the card-throwing mutant, is currently in development hell, waiting for the cards of fate to deal it back into life.

The survivors of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 may have spent the better part of six seasons of ABC’s Lost stranded on the island from hell, but the actors who brought those characters to life have hardly been stuck and going nowhere since the series ended in 2010. Even those whose runs on the show ended before the series finale have been able to keep up their profile with prolific acting careers. Matthew Fox

After spending six seasons on the small screen as leading man Jack Shephard, Matthew Fox moved to the big screen. He had a starring role in the post-World War II film Emperor opposite Tommy Lee Jones, then took on a villainous role as a character called Picasso in Alex Cross. He had a relatively minor role in zombie thriller World War Z before moving back to the spotlight to join the ensemble of Bone Tomahawk and star in the post-apocalyptic Extinction in 2015.

Evangeline Lilly

In the years since leaving the role of female lead Kate Austen on ABC's Lost, Evangeline Lilly also moved to the big screen. She started off with a role in Real Steel in 2011, then really hit the mainstream as the elf Tauriel in two of the smash hit Hobbit films. She then tackled the role of Hope van Dyne in Marvel’s Ant-Man, and will reprise the role for Ant-Man and the Wasp as the titular Wasp in a sequel to be released in 2018.

Josh Holloway

After the end of his tenure as Sawyer on Lost, Josh Holloway had mostly small roles on television and film. In 2014, he returned to the spotlight as star in the CBS cyber-themed action drama Intelligence. Sadly, Intelligence ran for only a single season, but Holloway stayed on television to nab the lead role of Will Bowman in USA’s dystopian sci fi drama Colony opposite The Walking Dead’s Sarah Wayne Callies.

Daniel Dae Kim

Following his departure from Lost as Jin Kwon, Daniel Dae Kim jumped from ABC to CBS to take on a major role in the rebooted detective series Hawaii Five-0 as Chin Ho Kelly. The series is currently in its sixth season. Over the years since leaving Lost and in addition to his work on Hawaii Five-0, Kim has done a fair amount of voice work, ranging from vocals for video games to a memorable role on The Legend of Korra as Hiroshi Sato.

Yunjin Kim

Following the conclusion of her time on Lost as Sun Kwon, Yunjin Kim starred in South Korean films Heartbeat and Ode to My Father. She then returned to television to take on a starring role on the ABC series Mistresses, which has aired for three full seasons so far and received the order for a fourth. Kim plays Dr. Karen Kim, a psychiatrist who became romantically involved with a patient.

Jorge Garcia

After the end of his time as the beloved Hurley on Lost, Jorge Garcia had mostly small roles on television. He appeared for a brief run on the short-lived Matthew Perry sitcom Mr. Sunshine, then took on a starring but unfortunately brief role on the Fox series Alcatraz that was cancelled after only one season. He spent three episodes making his mark on Once Upon a Time as the giant Anton, played Herm in the big screen venture The Ridiculous 6, then landed on Hawaii Five-0 as Jerry Ortega since its fourth season.

Naveen Andrews

Following the conclusion of his time on Lost (where he played Sayid Jarrah), Naveen Andrews tackled the role of Akbari in the TV series Sinbad. He then brought classic Disney villain Jafar to life in ABC’s Once Upon a Time in Wonderland before landing the role of Jonas Maliki in the Netflix original series Sense8. The series has been renewed for a second season, so Andrews may have even more time on Netflix as Jonas.

Terry O’Quinn

Following the end of his time on Lost as (mostly) John Locke, Terry O’Quinn stuck with television, taking on a role as an antagonist in the short-lived ABC supernatural drama 666 Park Avenue, then jumped to Fox for a place on the single season of Gang Related. He then landed a recurring gig on CBS with a place on Daniel Dae Kim’s series Hawaii Five-0 as Joe White, starting in its second season in 2011.

Henry Ian Cusick

After the end of his time on Lost as Desmond Hume, Henry Ian Cusick landed several recurring roles on shows such as Law & Order: SVU, Fringe, and The Mentalist. Like others of his former costars, he appeared on Hawaii Five-0. He’s held a longer role on Scandal as Stephen Finch, and currently has a major place on The CW’s post-apocalyptic series The 100 as Marcus Kane.

Dominic Monaghan

As one of the actors most well-known prior to joining Lost, Dominic Monaghan took on the role of Charlie Pace. Monaghan recovered from Charlie’s heartbreaking death to stay on ABC for a role in the first and only season of FlashForward. He later became a key player in the critically-acclaimed web comedy Goodnight Burbank, brought Mark Nickel to life for six episodes of The Unknown, then became Tommy Conley for twelve episodes of 100 Code. Plus he even hosts the unscripted series Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan, so he seems pretty busy. Next, he’ll be featured in the live action version of the Quantum Break video game later (scheduled for this year).

Michael Emerson

Following his time as the ambiguous Ben Linus on Lost, Michael Emerson moved to CBS for a lead role as Harold Finch on the science fiction crime drama Person of Interest, which has run for four seasons and is set to debut its fifth (and possibly final) season of thirteen episodes in the spring of 2016. In addition to his work as Finch, Emerson has leant his voice to series such as G.I. Joe: Renegades and Generator Rex as well as narrated the documentary The Mystery of Matter: Search for the Elements.

Emilie de Ravin

After saying farewell to Lost and her role as Claire Littleton, Emilie de Ravin ditched the blonde locks and went brunette when she landed another major role in an ensemble show on ABC by joining the cast of Once Upon a Time as Belle French. First appearing in a recurring part in the first season, de Ravin has become a major part of the series, which is currently in its fifth season of fairy tale-esque stories.

Elizabeth Mitchell

After her character Juliet suffered a tragic ending on Lost, Elizabeth Mitchell stayed on ABC to star as Erica Evans on the science fiction series V, which ran for two seasons before it was ultimately axed. She spent 42 episodes as Rachel Matheson on NBC’s Revolution before joining Emilie de Ravin on Once Upon a Time to play the aunt to Elsa and Anna of Frozen fame. She’s since occupied the role of Carine Strand on the TV series Crossing Lines.

The ending of fan-favorite TV phenomenon Lost is something that still stirs debate among fans, even though that fateful finale took place almost six years ago. And, we just found out that one Lost actor is more than happy to make sure that fans get the ending that they want.

Actor Josh Holloway went on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about his new show, Colony, and revealed to Kimmel that he still has no idea what the ending of Lost actually means. But, even better, the man who played the handsome, deeper-than-he-seems Sawyer, is determined to give fans the ending they want, no, deserve, for what was one of the biggest water-cooler shows of the mid-2000s.

Honestly, if you think about it, this is a brilliant plan. If Josh Holloway is telling the truth about not having any concrete theories about the deeper meaning for the ending of Lost, then why should he bust his brain every time someone comes up to him looking for answers? If fans come with a theory of their own and are really just looking to have their idea validated, the best way to handle that conversation is to give them what they want.

And, if a fan (or, really, any fan) has a wild notion about how Lost actually gave the whole series even more meaning by ending the way it did, why contradict them? I’m convinced that no one on Earth has a clue as to what that ending really meant, so, let people use their imaginations to the hilt and dream up any crazy thing they please.

Of course, there are probably a lot of people who spot Josh Holloway and want him to simply explain the whole damn thing to them. This, in my opinion, would take even more work for Holloway. To really give the people what they want, he’d have to asses the fan’s secret desire for a Lost ending that makes everything right for them. If he’s capable of doing that, he’s a good man, indeed. See? There’s no harm in having a bit of fun with this whole Lost finale hubbub at this point. Sure, theories and confusion will probably abound throughout the ages, but it’s all good. Josh Holloway knows that all of them are always right in their own way.

Marvel Studios doesn't really have a role in this year's New York Comic Con, even though last year's panel for The Avengers was an enormous success and they could easily promote Iron Man 3… but hey, I don't make the rules. And even with Marvel officially absent this weekend, there are plenty of rumors emerging about their upcoming slate-- including a possible lead on who might be getting that coveted female lead role in Captain America 2.

Let's start there, since over at Latino Review, our friend Da7e is dropping a pretty big bombshell regarding the recently revealed shortlist of actress vying to play what we're all assuming will be Sharon Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Da7e's sources are telling him that it's none of those actress, but Smashed and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World star Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who's currently at the top of the list, and the part could even be hers for the taking.

In other Cap 2 news, there are two very "physical" parts up for grabs that Da7e is assuming will be villains, and Game of Thrones's Nikolaj Coster Waldau and Lost's Josh Holloway are both up for it. One character is American and the other foreign, so it seems entirely possibly one could get cast in each part… or they could knock each other out of contention and get replaced by someone on no shortlist, as is apparently happening with the women. You never know with Marvel!

And finally, in this giant article there are also some rumors about the characters who might make up the main focus of Guardians of the Galaxy, the intergalactic Marvel project that recently set James Gunn as director. I'm struggling as it is to understand what Guardians of the Galaxy is at all, so I'm not really sure what to make of the news there-- but if the names Star-Lord, Gamora and Drax the Destroyer mean anything to you, you may want to go take a look.

David Ayer's upcoming thriller focuses on ten DEA agents who rob a drug cartel, which means there are ten pretty major roles to fill, not to mention those characters not involved in the heist. Among those already set to appear in the film, joining Arnold Schwarzenegger, are Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, Joe Manganiello and Olivia Williams. And now it's looking like Lost's Josh Holloway will be joining the team, assuming negotiations go through.

Originally titled Ten, but then later retitled Breacher (both Variety and THR have recently referred to it as Ten though, so it's possible the title's changed back), Ayer's thriller has a group of DEA agents robbing a drug cartel during what's supposed to be a tactical raid. They think they've gotten away with the crime, until the agents begin getting killed off one by one. Variety posted the news today that Josh Holloway is in talks to join the film, playing "Neck," a member of Schwarzenegger's DEA team, who's also a medic.

Best known for playing the nickname-giving conman Sawyer on Lost, Holloway hasn't made many appearances in film and television since the ABC drama wrapped up a couple of years ago, but he did appear in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, and he's credited in Benson Lee's upcoming Battle of the Year: The Dream Team and Robert Luketic's thriller Paranoia. He also made a pretty excellent guest appearance in Community's "A Fistful of Paintballs" episode. Assuming negotiations are successful, we can add Breacher to the list.

Planet B Boy, Benson Lee’s feature film adaptation of his own award-winning documentary of the same name, has added some high-profile men to its cast.

Josh Holloway, Laz Alonso, Josh Peck and fleet-footed pop star Chris Brown have signed on to the production, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Like Lee’s doc, the new Planet B Boy will be set in the world of international breakdancing. Unlike Lee’s doc, this new story will play up a classic underdog tale about a struggling breakdancing team who must rise up to a challenge and persevere in the Battle of the Year International Championships in France. So it’s like Warrior with the worm, or The Karate Kid with pop-lock and beatbox instead of “wax, on, wax off.”

Screen Gems set up this project in 2009 after seeing Lee’s documentary and realizing that while breakdancing faded in the U.S. decades ago, it remained extremely popular around the world. Brin Hill and Chris Parker developed a screenplay off of Lee’s doc, following the blueprint of similar rise-up dramas. THR says Planet B Boy will begin shooting in Los Angeles before moving on to location shots in Montpellier, France.

And why not? Craig Brewer’s Footloose brought dancing back to the big screen, TV audiences can’t get enough of Dancing With the Stars, the Step Up movies make decent money, and Hollywood’s enamored with retro, so this might be the best time to bring back breakdancing, which was enormous in the 1980s. Maybe some filmmaker will blow the dust off of Breakin’ and its gaudy sequel, Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo because those films sucked and remakes can only drastically improve them.

Just yesterday, former Lost star Maggie Grace was cast as Irina in one of the biggest franchises running today. Now, it seems, that one of her cast-mates is following suite. THR is reporting that Josh Holloway, best known for playing Sawyer on the hit ABC show, is closing in on a role in the upcoming Mission: Impossible 4. Joining the cast which already includes Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton,Vladimir Mashkov, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, the article reports that Holloway will play a member of the Impossible Mission Force, though no further details are available.

Last we heard about Holloway he was being rumored for one of three roles in The Avengers, though two of those roles have since been cast (Hawkeye and Dum Dum Dugan) and one has been permanently erased (Ant-Man). It's all too common for stars of hit television shows to have a hard time furthering their career, but it looks like Holloway is doing his very best to stave off that curse. Last time I wrote about him, I said that "a large role in a comic book movie could be all he needs" to get a feature film career off the ground. Mission Impossible could do that just as well.

Considering that the film is still more than two years away, the amount of news and rumors about Joss Whedon's The Avengers says something about how highly anticipated it is. We've heard about Whedon re-writing script, the super-powered team fighting the Skrulls and Nathan Fillion and Kevin Pennington being cast as Ant-Man And Hawkeye. But if you think that rumors are going to slow down between now and January (when the film starts shooting), then you are seriously mistaken.

Avengers News says that Lost star Josh Holloway is now talking with Marvel Studios about a "lead role" in the upcoming superhero film. While the website wasn't given any information as to what character Holloway would play, they speculate it might be Hank Pym/Ant-Man, Clint Barton/Hawkeye, or S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Dum Dum Dugan.

Seeing as he is a 6'1" white guy it's not really surprising that his name has been thrown into the Marvel mix. With Lost now over (sorry Losties), he's going to have a lot of time on his hands.
