When it comes to The View, it’s definitely not uncommon for one of the long-running talk show’s various hosts to be absent for one reason or another. Earlier this year, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin missed episodes amid the 2026 TV schedule due to the birth of her first child, and guest hosts were utilized. Whoopi Goldberg has also missed time but not for the reason that just cropped up. Goldberg was notably absent from the ABC staple’s first show this week, and I definitely wasn’t expecting that situation to involve a volcanic eruption.

Goldberg seemed to get a bit more than she expected over the 4th of July holiday weekend. During that time, the beloved actress and media personality traveled to Italy, where she owns a home (as recently noted by Savannah Chrisley). The Ghost star found herself in a precarious situation, however, after Mount Etna – a volcano – became exhibited activity over the weekend. Because of that, major travel routes were closed. Goldberg sent a video that was aired during The View’s July 6th broadcast, and she said this (via TV Insider):

That video was recorded from Goldberg’s balcony and, in her address, she stressed that she would “be back as soon as I can.” It’s also worth noting that Mount Etna is Europe’s largest volcano, which makes this situation even more hazardous. Despite that, Goldberg was unsurprisingly still able to make a great joke even in the face of her less-than-ideal circumstances. In the video, she went on to say:

Believe it or not, Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t the only View panelist to miss the show’s first post-4th of July show due to weather conditions. Ana Navarro wasn’t present due to bad weather stranding her in Miami, and Sara Haines was absent due to handling “storm damage” that occurred over the weekend. With that, the occasionally absent Joy Behar (who’s regularly off on Mondays) was asked to come in alongside guest co-host Michelle Buteau, who joined Griffin and Sonny Hostin.

Goldberg’s particular situation is even more ironic when considering that she dealt with a completely different kind of weather situation earlier this year. Back in February, she was impacted by a massive blizzard that swept across the East Coast. But, even though she was snowed in, she was still able to join the program virtually. A blizzard and a volcanic eruption are two very different kinds of events, though, and the latter is definitely something many of us here in the states are likely not used to.

Personally, I’m just glad Whoopi Goldberg appears to be safe, and I hope that remains the case as she attempts to return to the U.S. I also extend well wishes to Navarro and Haines as they deal with their own issues. All in all, if there’s anything to glean from this situation it’s that while the ladies of The View are quite powerful in their own right, even they don’t have anything on Mother Nature.

ABC is currently in the midst of a brouhaha with the FCC over the latter’s attempts to unearth a long-dormant partisan mandate that concerns “bona fide news programs” giving equal airtime for political parties and candidates. But it didn’t take any governmental pressure for The View to welcome Vice President J.D. Vance for its June 16 installment, and on top of all the headlines the interview garnered, it was the most-watched ep to hit the 2026 TV schedule and beyond.

J.D. Vance's Appearance Made Headlines For Days

Though many may have expected the Veep's appearance on The View to be a completely incoherent spectacle of arguments and railroaded talking points, the actual interview wasn't nearly so tumultuous. The hosts and guest smiled way more than general expectations might have allowed, even despite Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar & Co. getting directly political rather than wholly focusing on the new memoir he was there to promote, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.

In fact, Vance appeared on Fox News' Gutfeld the next day and told host Greg Gutfeld that it wasn't quite the visceral experience that he was anticipating, while still giving Whoopi a little gruff over her questioning how Donald Trump's administration views minorities and racial equality. As he put it:

Of course, while it may have been an easier time than suspected for Vance and The View's six women around the table, the interview also sparked some polarized reactions. It wasn't quite on the level of Jimmy Fallon tousling Trump's hair on The Tonight Show, but many felt that the hosts could have and should have dug their heels in even deeper.

Unsurprisingly, former host Meghan McCain also had a few things to say about Vance's interview, and positivity was not part of the equation.

Can't please everyone all of the time, of course. But regardless of how anyone felt about the interview, the facts are clear that a ton of people tuned in for it.

J.D. Vance's Interview Was The Second Most-Watched Episode In The Past 5 Years

Audiences were not put off by the potential for political muckraking when J.D. Vance joined The View, with Deadline reporting that a whopping 3.3 million people tuned in on June 16. It seems like those numbers tracked for the majority of the episode, as Vance was brought out early on and stayed the course.

This was the most watched episode of the past 20 months or so, falling behind the November 6, 2024 installment that aired the day after the presidential election. Easy to understand wny that was a big crowd, all things considered.

What's more, the V.P. interview made for the second most-watched View episode going all the way back to January 11, 2021. Interestingly enough that episode featured guest Ken Jennings for his first appearance talking about hosting Jeopardy! following the death of Alex Trebek in November 2020.

So what might happen if The View brings both J.D. Vance AND Ken Jennings on for a future episode? The world just can't handle that kind of excitement.

It’s clear The View can get contentious on the air, and sometimes things can even be heated behind the scenes, particularly given the show has several Democrats for every Republican woman who sits on the round table. For Abby Huntsman, speaking her mind on air was less of a problem than the “toxic” culture she said she encountered backstage on the daytime talk show series. Which is why I'm surprised she's back this week.

Abby Huntsman left The View back in 2020. At the time, she said she wanted to step away to work on her father’s gubernatorial campaign, but a year later when she launched her own podcast, she got more candid about her exit, calling it “a great out." In fact, she called the show a “toxic environment” and didn't seem eager to repeat the experience.

She said on "I Wish Somebody Told Me" that she came in confident. However, nearly immediately there was a lot of crazy, passive-aggressive behavior on the show. She alleges The View told her everyone saw a talent coach, so she went and was “happy to get feedback.” Just a few days later, the tabloids got ahold of the fact. She knew the puff piece making her look incompetent had come “from within.”

Now, Ms. Huntsman did say on the podcast it was not necessarily her co-hosts at the time who were a problem (though she did allegedly beef with fellow The View leaver Meghan McCain). She said repeatedly in her “I Wish Somebody Told Me” podcast that it was the executives in charge who were the problem, and even when she “did report it” and asked for “change,” she’d basically get the runaround.

Though he's been around for more than a decade, Brian Teta’s been the face of the show in more recent years, and has been the person navigating Alyssa Farah Griffin’s pregnancy leave with the cast. He even has a “Behind The Table" podcast that sheds light on some of the thoughts and feelings the cast has, so the show has (seemingly) gotten more transparent in recent years. During this time, there have been several changes on the show with people in leadership positions behind the scenes, as well.

Some of those changes may help indicate why Abby Huntsman made the return to The View. She hasn’t spoken out about the why behind the decision, but she did say she did not "take for granted" the opportunity to return to the set. She also said on the show she wanted to "celebrate us thinking differently," giving hints at her mind set.

Plus, she did send congratulations to Griffin on the day of her first appearance. And she seemed jovial about getting to spend time with Joy Behar on set.

Still, I would not have guessed this would be a 2026 TV schedule outcome if someone had asked me to bet on it at the start of the year.

A slew of panelists are set to join the hot topics table while Alyssa Farah Griffin is out. We’ve already seen the likes of Savannah Chrisley share positive thoughts about Whoopi and Joy (despite reservations) and Elisabeth Hasselbeck also make a surprise return to the show.

Anybody who’s ever watched Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and the rest of the co-hosts on The View knows that they’re not afraid to speak their minds, even if what they say ruffles the feathers of the women sitting alongside them. Savannah Chrisley was all too aware of this — as well as the “public bashing” her parents had received from the co-hosts — when she appeared as a guest host last week. Now, she’s opening up about how things actually went down.

With Alyssa Farah Griffin on maternity leave, The View is bringing in several guest hosts, including Savannah Chrisley, who starred with her family on reality series like Chrisley Knows Best. Her parents, Todd and Julie, spent time in federal prison for tax evasion and bank fraud before receiving presidential pardons from President Trump last May — a move criticized by the co-hosts at the time. Following her appearance on the show, Savannah said on the Behind the Table podcast that she’d been ready for a fight, telling The View’s executive producer Brian Teta:

While The View is bringing back some “controversial” guest hosts like Elisabeth Hasselbeck in Alyssa Farah Griffin’s absence, the co-hosts have something of a “toxic mean girl reputation” for how they treat those whose political views don’t align with theirs. In fact, it’s shocking how seldomly The View even invites conservative guests onto the show.

However, Savannah Chrisley said her experience made her realize she shouldn’t judge these women based on 37-minute episodes or the 15-second clips taken out of context and put out on social media. In fact, she ended up getting along quite well with Joy Behar, as she said:

This sounds a lot like how Whoopi Goldberg wakes up so incensed every day, letting all of her opinions out on the show and then shutting it down until tomorrow.

Savannah Chrisley admitted she was nervous at the prospect of being the only conservative at the table alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, but it was actually Sunny Hostin who challenged her the most about her parents’ pardons. Chrisley said they “didn’t have words,” exactly, but there was “a little hostility” from the former federal prosecutor during a commercial break.

However, the next day Savannah Chrisley said Sunny Hostin admitted she hadn’t understood some things about Todd and Julie’s case, and Savannah apologized for getting defensive.

In the end, the Growing Up Chrisley star was proud of the fact that she and the View co-hosts were able to have conversations with each other and find common ground, despite their opposing political views.

Political commentator and former CNN regular Amanda Carpenter will be the next guest co-host filling in on The View, so tune in at 11 a.m. ET Monday, February 23, on ABC to hear everyone’s commentary on the latest hot topics.

The big news on The View this week had to do with Alyssa Farah Griffin, who made a not-so-unexpected exit to attend to the birth of her first child last week. While congratulations are due to the new mom, the even bigger news is the talk show bringing in big names like Savannah Chrisley and former host Elisabeth Hasselbeck to fill her shoes.

Savannah Chrisley has already issued a warning about refusing to “shrink her values” on the show when she appears, but apparently that’s not even what caused the most controversy amongst The View viewers. Instead, people are up in arms about Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s return. Executive producer Brian Teta spoke with Joy Behar about the “backlash” Hasselbeck’s name has been receiving online, and Behar seemed surprised by the discourse.

• Teta: "There was a lot of reaction to Elisabeth Hasselbeck, which surprised me a little bit, because she’s, don’t get me wrong, Elisabeth has controversial takes occasionally and passionate takes, but you two worked together and overall got along. "
• Behar: "It’s fine, she’s a good kid. She’s a good kid… she got a lot of negative things? "
• Teta: "Well, people are like, I can’t believe Elisabeth’s coming back."

Hasselbeck did have a lengthy run on The View in the past. She appeared on the show between 2003 and 2013 after her famous run on Survivor back in 2001. She married former NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck in 2002 and made her TV debut a year later, where she did become known for her conservative viewpoints.

She left the series in 2013 in what she later admitted was actually a surprise firing by ABC. (Note: The move reportedly came after a meltdown in the middle of filmingThe View in which she’d threatened to quit and “chucked” her cards while the show was on commercial break.) She shifted to Fox & Friends for a couple of years after that before unofficially retiring from her TV career, though Survivor has really wanted her to play again.

So, her coming back may seem like a pretty big shock, even for fans who would be happy to see her on the long-running talk show. More recently, though, Farah Griffin said Hasselbeck telling her to “own [her] chair” during her run on The View really impacted her as a new host, and the two seem to be kindred spirits. Plus, she did make returns in 2019 and 2020 prior to this, so her coming back as a guest host is not that out of left field. This is true despite the drama from the past, and the fans who clearly are unhappy about her return.

Teta went on to explain on “Behind the Table” that some personalities on The View simply draw in controversy online. Hasselbeck is on that list, as is Rosie O’Donnell and Rosie Perez. But how does Joy Behar feel about the show filling Alysa Farah Griffin’s spot with other conservative personalities?

Ultimately, at the end of the day, she does feel like the discussion is better when alternative viewpoints are put forth, even if those viewpoints are being put forth by some people the certain factions of the fanbase clearly aren’t gelling with. But per Behar, there’s one piece of advice she’d like fans to keep in mind: “It’s just business, it’s not personal.”

Several guest hosts will step in for Alyssa Farah Griffin on The View when she goes on maternity leave next week, and I have to admit I was a little surprised to see Savannah Chrisley’s name among them. The View hasn’t exactly been complimentary of her parents Todd and Julie, who spent time in prison for tax evasion before being pardoned by Donald Trump. To that end, Savannah has issued a warning to her fellow panelists that she hasn’t forgotten what they said.

Savannah Chrisley’s Warning To The View Co-Hosts

Savannah Chrisley, who came to fame with her family on the reality show Chrisley Knows Best, shared that she’ll be the first guest co-host joining Whoopi Goldberg and the others next week on The View, which airs weekdays on the 2026 TV schedule. As a vocal Trump supporter, Chrisley expects to face opposing political opinions, and she wrote on X that she welcomes the debates to come, writing:

However, given what some of the co-hosts have said about her parents amid their legal issues, they might want to be prepared to defend their statements to Savannah’s face, as she continued:

Savannah Chrisley has staunchly supported her parents since the conviction in 2022, blaming the government for their legal woes and saying the justice system failed them. While supporting Trump at the 2024 Republican National Convention, she said Todd and Julie Chrisley were “persecuted” by the justice system, and it seems some of The View co-hosts weren’t impressed when the Chrisleys’ White House connections led to the presidential pardons.

What The View Hosts Have Said About The Chrisleys

On The View’s May 28, 2025, episode, Joy Behar expressed disappointment in the president seemingly letting Todd Chrisley and his wife “off the hook” — according to Behar — because of his fame and wealth. She said:

Ana Navarro chimed in as well, after Whoopi Goldberg wondered if Americans are numb to this kind of thing, or if people were going to have a problem with it. Navarro said:

Savannah Chrisley has fought against accusations that she bought her parents’ pardon (or that she “slept with someone” for it), so I’d guess that’s something that’s likely to come up during Chrisley’s guest spot.

Todd and Julie Chrisley’s pardon wasn't the only thing that got The View talking about the reality TV family, though. Back in 2022, Joy Behar referred to the Chrisley Knows Best stars as “idiots” during a rant about Trump, saying (per Decider):

It will be interesting to see how Savannah Chrisley’s time on The View goes, especially given the shocking discrepancy between liberal and conservative voices on the show and how right-leaning celebrities like Cheryl Hines have had upsetting experiences. The View Season 29 is airing amid the 2025 TV schedule, with the panel of co-hosts continuing to discuss politics, pop culture and more. As of late, though, the long-running daytime TV program has been without one of its key personalities. The pundit in question is Joy Behar, who’s missed a few tapings as of late, and no official reason was given right away. Now, thanks to Behar’s colleague, Whoopi Goldberg, we now know why she’s been absent from recent tapings.

Joy Behar (83) is reportedly off on Mondays, so she was not present for the November 10 edition of The View. However, she was also notably not present for the Tuesday, November 11 taping, with Whoopi Goldberg telling the live studio audience that she’d hopefully return for the Wednesday broadcast. That ultimately didn’t come to pass and, during the taping of the November 12 episode, Goldberg revealed on air (via Entertainment Weekly) that Behar’s return to the show had been hampered by an injury:

Behar joined The View upon its debut on ABC in 1997, joining the likes of other hosts like Barbara Walters and Star Jones. Ultimately, Behar exited the series in 2013 amid Season 13 but continued to guest host over the next several years. She eventually returned as a full-time panelist in 2015 and has since held that position. Over the years, Behar has occasionally missed tapings for one reason or another like most hosts.

The past year has seen Joy Behar make headlines for several reasons and, more recently, she threw shade at new Bachelorette Taylor Frankie Paul for having multiple baby daddies. Behar has also been reflective this year, sharing thoughts on former co-stars she didn’t think were all that nice. However, Behar also discussed the “sisterhood” that exists among the hosts of the show, saying that if someone criticizes a colleague, she’ll defend them like family.

Although Behar and Whoopi Goldberg are both major fixtures on The View, it was rumored earlier this year that the two could end up fired. Behar herself clapped back at the speculation, saying that there was no validity to it. On top of that, Behar was also blunt when addressing those who put stock in such rumors, as she said, “How stupid are people that they believe this?”

Considering the clarification for Joy Behar’s latest absence came directly from Whoopi Goldberg, though, viewers should believe what they’re hearing in this case. It, of course, remains to be seen if Behar will indeed return to the air before the week of November 10 is over. The show aside, though, let’s hope Behar has a relatively speedy recovery from that foot injury.

The announcement that the next lead of The Bachelorette was coming not from a previous season of the dating franchise but from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was shocking, prompting all kinds of reactions from Bachelor Nation — and from Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex-boyfriend. You just know the co-hosts over at The View had thoughts as well, including Joy Behar, who threw some shade at the reality TV star.

Taylor Frankie Paul, 31, has three children — 8-year-old Indy and 5-year-old Ocean with ex-husband Tate Paul and 17-month-old Ever with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. After watching a clip from the future Bachelorette’s interview on Call Her Daddy, in which she talks about informing her children’s fathers of her new role, Joy Behar cracked a joke about Paul having multiple baby daddies, saying:

Oof, I doubt I’m the only longtime Bachelor Nation fan who cringed a little at the “baggage” comment. Back in Season 8 of The Bachelorette, contestant Kalon McMahon received a quick and unceremonious boot from the show when lead Emily Maynard learned that the luxury brand representative had referred to her young daughter as such.

Alyssa Farah Griffin refused to disparage Taylor Frankie Paul for the same reason Joy Behar did, but she had her own thoughts on Paul’s “colorful past” that left her “conflicted” about the season. For one thing, Griffin said, there’s just a lot of uncertainty with ABC’s decision to recruit from outside of Bachelor Nation. She continued:

Alyssa Farah Griffin appears to like the casting decision, and not just because she gives grace to Taylor Frankie Paul regarding her past. Griffin said:

There are definitely a lot of opinions about what’s to come on The Bachelorette in 2026, but one thing seems universally agreed upon — Taylor Frankie Paul will bring the drama.

The View co-hosts also recently shared their opinions on the upcoming season of The Golden Bachelor, which hits the 2025 TV schedule at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, September 24, on ABC. Mel Owens, a 66-year-old former NFL linebacker, raised some eyebrows by saying on a podcast that he planned on eliminating any women over the age of 60.

One can imagine how well this went over on The View, with Alyssa Farah Griffin saying he sounded like “a dog,” and Sunny Hostin pointing out that just because he wants to date 45-year-old women does not mean that 45-year-olds want to date him.

The Golden Bachelor will air before Taylor Frankie Paul’s appearance on The Bachelorette — expected to premiere in January 2026 — as will the third season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (streaming with a Hulu subscription), in which we’ll apparently see how Paul ends her on-off relationship with Dakota Mortensen for good. Tune in when it premieres Thursday, November 13.

When it comes to controversial pop culture topics, you know the co-hosts over at The View are going to have an opinion. That is certainly the case regarding the drama that’s already circulating over the lead of The Golden Bachelor Season 2, which is set to premiere on the 2025 TV schedule later this year. Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and the rest of the panel had some pretty strong thoughts about 66-year-old Mel Owens not wanting to date women his age.

Mel Owens, a former NFL linebacker, said on a podcast in June that before he was cast on The Golden Bachelor, he told producers he would eliminate any women “60 or older” from his season and that he also didn’t want anyone with artificial hips or wigs. Joy Behar took a psychological approach to the comment, saying:

Sara Haines countered that it really wasn’t that deep, and men just wanted younger women “because of their boobs.” Alyssa Farah Griffin seemed willing to give Mel Owens a chance, given the fact that we haven’t actually seen him do anything in the ABC reality dating franchise yet, but it sounds like she’s wary of what’s to come, given what she’s seen so far:

Joy Behar seemed to agree with that, saying it sounded like he just wanted “to get a little on the side,” in reference to his comments about not wanting someone with fake hips.

Sunny Hostin said there may be one aspect that Mel Owens hasn’t considered about aging women and then posed one question about his stated preference of dating women as young as 45. Hostin said:

When Joy Behar pointed out that Mel Owens probably has money, Sara Haines said these arguments about age and money and appearance are nothing new, and she echoed OG Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner’s advice to keep an open mind. In Haines’ words:

Whoopi Goldberg stayed mostly quiet through the discussion about The Golden Bachelor, but she put the period at the end of the sentence by invoking karma — and the Lord — as she said:

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens when The Golden Bachelor premieres. ABC has released bios for 25 potential contestants on Mel Owens’ season, ranging from age 58 to 77. Only three women fit Owens' “45 to 60” criteria, with one 58-year-old and two 60-year-olds. Eight of his 25 potential women are his age or older.

If you’ve watched an episode of The View, whether it's one from years ago or one that aired on the 2025 TV schedule, you know debate, discourse and disagreement are a big part of the show. On top of that, we’ve heard stories from former hosts like Meghan McCain and Candace Cameron Bure about the challenges of working on the program. So, it’s not an easy gig where everyone gets along all the time.

Now, Joy Behar has opened up about some years being “bad,” while also sharing her feelings about the “sisterhood” of hosts and the current crew leading the show.

While chatting about Star Jones, who was one of The View’s original co-hosts, and her recent guest appearance, executive producer Brian Teta mentioned the “sisterhood” among the cast. Explaining this point further, on the Behind the Table podcast, he said:

In response, Joy Behar agreed that the cast of The View is like a sisterhood, and like siblings, they fight, but also fiercely protect each other. While she’s admitted that not everyone to grace the panel in her 28 years has been nice, and there’s been some bad years, she said she will “defend” her colleagues, saying:

Now, over the years, many former co-hosts have spoken out about working on the show. Candace Cameron Bure shared that she had “PTSD” after her time there. And Raven-Symoné talked about the “nightmare” situation of being on a show where your opinion is heard and criticized by millions.

Meanwhile, Meghan McCain has shared negative thoughts about The View and working with its co-hosts on many occasions. A couple of years ago, she specifically took shots at Ana Navarro, a current panelist, after she heard Navarro compare Hunter Biden to other children of politicians. McCain also said that she doesn’t communicate with any of the hosts she worked with, however, she is still friends with some folks who work on the show.

Clearly, relationships between the hosts as well as the women and the show generally vary. However, while it’s had its ups and downs, Behar maintained that they’ll “defend” each other. She also noted that the current panel is a pretty peaceful bunch, explaining:

Currently, The View co-hosts are Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Whoopi Goldberg. All these women have been on the panel for at least a few years, with Behar and Goldberg both having been there for more than a decade. So, based on the panelist's recent comments and the fact that they’ve all worked on the show for quite some time, it seems like they really do all get along pretty well.

Like anything, The View goes through its ups and downs. However, at the moment, they seem to be on an up, and as the chat show continues to air on weekdays on ABC, let’s hope they can keep that going.

A lot of co-hosts have come and gone in the 28 years that Joy Behar has been on The View, and you don’t have to watch the ABC staple every day on the 2025 TV schedule to know that some of the show’s strong personalities have clashed. Behar may get along with the women who sit alongside her at the table now, but she hinted that hasn’t always been the case.

In a February episode of The View that re-aired recently (no, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar haven’t been fired; the show just took a brief hiatus), the co-hosts were discussing the female friendship storyline from The White Lotus Season 3. They discussed whether or not growing up with siblings made one more likely to always feel in competition with those around them. Behar said as an only child, she doesn’t recognize “toxic” behavior toward her, telling her colleagues:

This prompted Alyssa Farah Griffin — one of the conservative voices added to The View in 2022, who has bumped heads with Joy Behar a number of times — to protest that “no one at this table has been mean to you,” to which Behar replied:

She makes a good point, at least as far as Alyssa Farah Griffin is concerned, because there were definitely moments in the 25 years prior to Griffin and Ana Navarro officially joining the cast of co-hosts that tensions rose between Behar and someone else sitting at the table.

The co-hosts didn’t linger on the topic, so no names were dropped as to who Joy Behar might have been thinking of. My mind, however, immediately went to Meghan McCain, who continues to have beef with the Emmy-winning daytime talk show hosts years after she left The View.

The daughter of the late senator John McCain has said it was a mean comment from Joy Behar that ultimately led her to exit, and some of their on-air spats at the time got so heated that ABC’s head honcho had to step in

Of course, Meghan McCain isn’t the only person whose personality or politics didn’t mesh with Joy Behar’s over the years — and I’m not just talking about co-hosts.

While it didn’t happen around the table at The View, Kid Rock famously called the co-host a “bitch” on Fox News in 2018. Behar also apparently had a “personal” issue with the Jersey Shore cast members and allegedly “cornered” Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi in a bathroom and told her, “You’re not Italian.” When the cast appeared on The View again years later, Behar allegedly refused to take part in the segment.

And who can forget The View’s Liam Neeson disaster? The actor may have been what some considered a little mean after the fact (and understandably so), after his appearance on The View revolved only around Joy Behar’s longtime crush on him. The Taken actor said he “wasn’t impressed” with the co-hosts’ behavior, and the segment was “just a bit embarrassing.”

We’ll have to see if Joy Behar ever expounds on who she envisions when she talks about people being mean to her on The View, but until then, you can continue to watch the co-hosts at 11 a.m. ET weekdays on ABC.

When it comes to getting opinionated on TV, the female co-hosts on The View could easily qualify as experts, even if they’re entirely aware that not everyone else agrees with those opinions. Indeed, its Oscar-winning moderator Whoopi Goldberg is as privy to that fact as anyone, and has no issue with addressing the idea there are people who wish that The View would be canceled and taken off the air.

Not that hosting the morning series is extremely easy and peaceful for all involved — Raven-Symoné had lots of problems with it — but the show has been a staple of ABC’s daytime programming since 1997 (despite being different in many ways), and doesn’t appear to be in danger of exiting the airwaves. Goldberg addressed that issue during an episode in reference to California governor Gavin Newsome’s controversy-courting podcast, first saying that disagreements stem from viewers who make blanketed assumptions about them as hosts.

She began her point like this, which sparked some audible confusion from Joy Behar:

Once it was clear her point wasn't so swiftly relayed, Goldberg tried again:

To be clear, Goldberg isn't saying that The View's panel of outspoken personalities is completely absent from delivering opinionated coverage, because this show logically wouldn't exist if that were the case. It would have been canceled long ago after viewers stopped watching 4-6 women sitting next to each other very quietly and most certainly politely.

Nah, The View's biggest fans tune in specifically to see whatever messy thoughts and hot takes Whoopi & Co. have about headline-making news in the entertainment and political spheres. Which is what Goldberg was saying by pointing out that the hosts air their own judgments and assertions out for the world to see, but without telling anyone else that they should have the exact same opinions. She continued:

Now, the possibility exists that someone could look back over the past 28 years of The View episodes and pull out certain quote examples that counterpoint Goldberg's point. But those would still fall more under "exceptions" than "the rule."

The way to keep everyone's feelings from souring is as easy as not taking topical debates down to the level where it goes beyond the topic itself. As she put it:

It'd be interesting to hear what past hosts would have to say about whether that approach carried on behind the scenes, considering how steadfast someone like Candace Cameron-Bure has been about not returning despite being asked multiple times. Or how Meghan McCain can't seem to talk about the show without calling out former colleagues for backstage issues, and has said there's no chance in Hell she would return.

Nearly 30 years after its debut, The View remains a popular show, as the show’s panel welcomes an array of guests and discusses the issues of the day. A lot is typically said about the conversations had on the show, but the program’s hosts can also be subject to speculation as well. Rumors of firings can swirl around them, and series veterans Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg have been at the center of such chatter lately. As that chatter continues amid the 2025 TV schedule, Behar addressed those assumptions and more.

Joy Behar has never been one to mince words, whether she’s on the show or away from the stage. She caught up with The View’s companion podcast, Behind the Table, during which she spoke with the talk show’s EP, Brian Teta. While chatting, Teta brought up the dismissal rumors with Behar as well as other “crazy stories” involving her supposedly being arrested at an airport and making plans to leave the country. Behar (as seen on YouTube) dropped a four-word response to the firing chatter before addressing the other claims:

Through the years, the 82-year-old comedian and media personality has been subject to various rumors. In 2023, it was alleged that Joy Behar became embroiled in some drama with Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of Jersey Shore, and it supposedly involved a bathroom confrontation. It was also rumored that Behar had been banned from one of Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken restaurants. Shaq himself shot down that claim when he visited the daytime staple in 2024.

Back in 2013, the This Is My Life alum parted ways with the show in 2013, after having been with the program since its conception. Since return, the comic has joked about being “happy” that she was fired at the time, since a lot of her longtime co-hosts had already left the show. (Whoopi Goldberg, who was recently absent from the show, actually took a bit of offense to the comment.) The New York native certainly doesn’t mind airing her thoughts, and that likely plays into her rationale about whether she has a need to be liked by everyone:

Given those sentiments, we probably shouldn’t expect Joy Behar to kiss any kind of butt or humor rumors regarding her employment, personal health and more. All in all, it seems Joy Behar isn’t being ousted from the show either and, as far as we know, she hasn’t opted for retirement either. So fans can probably expect to see her and Whoopi Goldberg on screen with their colleagues for the foreseeable future.

The Real Story Behind Joy Behar Joking About Sara Haines’ College Relationship

If you watched The View this week, you may have noticed the moment Whoopi Goldberg called out co-host Sara Haines' parents in the audience. Behar brought up a story out of left field, asking her co-host, "I have to ask her a question: Are you going to bring up that lesbian relationship you said you had or not?"

Haines laughed at what happened and told her dad to grab "earmuffs" in relation to Behar bringing up a relationship that had apparently "happened at Smith College," but the narrative after the episode aired was that the host had outed her co-star.

While headlines were fairly inflammatory after the incident, an insider reveals this was not information that Sara Haines had shared privately with Ms. Behar and the other The View hosts. Instead, it was a story that had been bandied about freely during a previous episode of the hit longtime-daytime series.

Ms. Haines herself had brought it up on set during an off-air session with a studio audience. That's the big reason her co-host was “not reprimanded” for the incident, though it's not the first time Ms. Behar has been part of an awkward moment on The View.

How Does Sara Haines Reportedly Feel About The Incident?

Insiders close to The View have made it clear that the early reports that used language like “outing" Ms. Haines are not completely accurate to what happened. In fact, Haines shared the story of dating another woman during her college years during an earlier taping -- but it was during a moment in which The View was not filming, so it never made the air.

An insider reiterated to Page Six that the conversation had not been a "private" one, also saying:

Interestingly, when the episode aired, it was pointed out the comment had been made previously, but as Sunny Hostin then noted, the difference is that Haines had shared the story in a semi-public forum. Now, however, the story is "on air" or fully on the record for anyone who watched the episode live or caught the quotes later on the Internet.

Ms. Behar has a history of being outspoken on The View, and was once even fired from the daytime talk show; this is another instance of an out-of-left-field comment happening. The moment comes just a few weeks after the 82-year-old host has spoken out about potentially leaving The View in coming years (2022 was once bandied about as the year she'd make her exit and we're well beyond that), making the timing of the awkward moment comment-worthy.

The good news? It doesn't sound like Haines is upset her personal history was shared, but it still does lead to questions about the ramifications of being too outspoken on live TV, particularly in an era when information is decimated online in the blink of an eye.

It’s been three years since Meghan McCain left The View, and as the popular show continues on the 2024 TV schedule with some different faces at the table, she insists that she’s moved on. However, the struggles she faced on the daytime talk show — and her “long history” with current co-host Ana Navarro — are topics she hasn’t shied away from. The View came up at a recent event, where McCain shared “a little juicy gossip,” and it involved Joy Behar’s husband taking a photo of her.

Meghan McCain participated in a Stand With Women event this week with former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard. The politician reminded McCain that the last time they’d shared a stage was on The View, and the former co-host had a pretty funny story about how that played out. She told the audience:

It’s not hard to see how Tulsi Gabbard might bump heads with some of The View's more liberal co-hosts, given her own political leanings, and Meghan McCain thought she may have to go to bat for her friend. However, Gabbard apparently held her own against Joy Behar’s strong opinions, and McCain was delighted to see it, she said. There’s reportedly photographic proof of just how worked up the co-host got when watching the two debate, as McCain continued:

Meghan McCain has made no secret of how she feels about The View, on which she was a co-host for four years. In July 2021 she opened up about how motherhood and the pandemic influenced her decision to leave the show, but it wasn’t long before she started speaking more candidly about The View’s alleged backstage problems.

As the only conservative on the show, Meghan McCain felt like it was an “extremely isolating” situation, where her colleagues were “uncomfortable” around her and negative stories about her were reportedly leaked to the press. She was involved in heated spats with Joy Behar, and has called out what she says is “toxic mean girl” behavior amongst the co-hosts.

Shaquille O’Neal is easily one of the greatest basketball players to ever set foot on a court, and he’s also arguably one of the most outspoken athletes the world has ever seen. The player-turned-media personality rarely ever holds back his thoughts on a subject, and that’s particularly true when it comes to rumors. One particular claim that’s apparently been floating around as of late is that O’Neal banned The View’s Joy Behar from one of the eateries he owns. So, when the Diesel himself appeared on the talk show, he didn’t hold back, even humorously calling out friend and colleague Charles Barkley on air. 

The 52-year-old four-time NBA appeared on the long-running talk show just recently to promote his new ABC game show, Lucky 13. Before he and the panel of pundits got down to the nitty gritty though, 81-year-old Joy Behar wanted to discuss the rumor that she’d been kicked out of one of Shaq’s Big Chicken restaurants. The former Los Angeles Laker quickly make a blunt – but humorous – declaration before Behar could get into her spiel: 

Jokes like that aside though, the Steel star has proven to be a generous person. 2022 alone saw Shaq pay the bill for an entire restaurant and donate money towards the victims of the shooting at Tops Friendly Markets. The pair’s exchange would certainly seem to indicate that this whole situation is simply water under the bridge at this point as far as Shaquille O’Neal and Joy Behar are concerned. Though O’Neal may or may not still have a bone to pick with Charles Barkley, though. Considering Barkley’s personality, I’m sure he’d be hilariously unbothered by that. If anything, O’Neal’s recent call-out makes me pine for new episodes of Inside the NBA, which may be cancelled after this upcoming season. Like so many others, I’m hoping that’s not the case, but only time will tell. (In the meantime, I'd expect fans to keep posting funny clips of Barkley and Shaq from past episodes as a way of rallying behind the series.)

At present, it’s just sweet that Joy Behar and Shaq cleared up the confusion regarding that rumor. If I were Joy Behar, I’d definitely make good use of that pass. The Big Chicken menu has some delicious-looking entrees so, needless to say, Behar is quite lucky to have that card.

After weeks of rumors about Jason Kelce’s retirement from the NFL (which devastated Taylor Swift fans), March 4 saw Travis Kelce’s older brother give a press conference to announce the news to his fans. As with most important pop culture moments, the ladies of The View, opened up about his reveal, with Joy Behar getting candid about leaving the show and connecting with how the elder Kelce seems to feel about leaving the Philadelphia Eagles, noting that “I will miss my friends.”

What Did Joy Behar And Her The View Co-Hosts Say About Jason Kelce Retiring From The NFL?

While Jason Kelce’s hard work in the NFL for 13 seasons had already made him a household name to many, it was once his younger brother began dating the “All Too Well” singer that he became beloved by millions of Swifties (who really enjoyed Kelce shouting out Swift’s songs in his retirement speech). Now that he’s made his big life change official, The View co-hosts looked at his announcement and wondered about the decision, which clearly made the proud and playful girl dad emotional. They talked about why this move is probably hard for him, with Joy Behar adding:

Awwwww! This would likely be the case for many people when they move on from a job or location they’ve been attached to for over a decade. And, Behar has been a part of the panel on The View for far longer than Kelce has been a pro football center (though he's played the game seriously for basically his entire life), seeing as how she started with the show way back in its first season in 1997, and has been a permanent co-host during most of that time.

It’s no secret that the hosts on this particular daytime talk show have sometimes had beef with one another, with Meghan McCain saying that an on-air comment from Behar led her to finally leave the show, and guest Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi noting how “mean” Behar had been to her in the past. But, for all of the rumored or real difficulties they might have behind the scenes sometimes, they are still close enough in their current configuration to have an infamous group chat and for Whoopi Goldberg to have attended the wedding of her fellow comedian/co-host, despite her not really liking such occasions.

So, it makes a lot of sense that Behar would have some feelings about leaving the show, and that they would mostly be about leaving the group she’s become close to, and not about leaving this aspect of her long-time career behind or being confused about what would come next for her professionally. As Sara Haines noted, however, while Kelce is understandably still in his feelings about retiring right now, there’s no reason to think he won’t be able to move on when he’s ready, especially since his family and all the Swifties have his back.

According to The View’s Joy Behar, she was asked to play Dottie Lasso, the titular character’s mother, on Ted Lasso. However, again, according to her, she turned it down. Well, now the silly story is getting more complex as the co-creators and stars of one of Apple TV+’s best shows, Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, have reacted to her claim, and politely denied them in a very Lasso way.

So, let’s break down what Joy Behar said about being asked to join the Ted Lasso cast, and how said cast reacted. 

Joy Behar Claimed She Was Considered For A Role In Ted Lasso 

Joy Behar claimed she was contacted to potentially play a role in Ted Lasso on The View’s podcast Behind the Table. However, her response was a quick no as she said:

So, as she said, she turned down the role because it was too hot, and she noted that if the work would have been done in the fall or spring she would have considered it. Ultimately, Becky Ann Baker landed the role (and an Emmy nomination for it). And now, Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt are reacting to the claim, explaining that, as far as they know, it didn’t happen. 

According To Jason Sudeikis And Brendan Hunt, Joy Behar Was Not Considered For The Role Of Ted Lasso’s Mom

It’s important to note that Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt are more than just Ted Lasso and Coach Beard. They are also co-creators, writers and executive producers on the Emmy-winning series. This means they have a hand in everything, and were likely very aware of the casting process. So, when People asked them about Joy Behar's story about Dottie, the Emmy-winning actor behind Ted said:

Then, in true Ted Lasso fashion, he followed that up with a very sweet comment, saying:

You know, maybe if that Ted Lasso rumor about Sudeikis missing the show proves to be true, and we get a Season 4, maybe The View co-host could play Ted’s aunt, possibly named Debbie Lasso. I could see it. However, the future of AFC Richmond is pretty clear, and if the Ted Lasso story continues, it will likely be through a spinoff that doesn’t include the title character.

Anyway, that’s all simply wishful thinking. Going back to reality, Brendan Hunt explained that this reveal about Behar was news to him and Sudeikis as he said:

So, overall, it sounds like Joy Behar was never really considered to play Ted’s mom. It’s always possible a casting director put out feelers, and she turned it down so quickly that the two co-creators never heard about it. It’s also possible that it just straight up didn’t happen. 

No matter what the case is, Dottie ended up being played brilliantly by Becky Ann Baker, and you can see her, not Joy Behar, as Ted’s mom by streaming Ted Lasso with an Apple TV+ subscription. 

Kim Kardashian has been known to take some big swings with her shapewear and clothing brand SKIMS, with items such as her divisive yet super popular swim gloves and micro-bikini tops that are no bigger than a tortilla chip. She even widened the vagina area of the SKIMS bodysuit after getting feedback from her sister Khloé. The latest addition to her multibillion-dollar company is all about the nipple, with a bra that will make customers “always look cold,” and while Whoopi Goldberg had nothing but praise for the reality star, Joy Behar made another boob-related request.

Of course the SKIMS nipple bra would come up as a hot topic for the co-hosts of The View, as they showed Kim Kardashian’s tongue-in-cheek ad about how climate change is affecting women’s ability to show off their nipples. Joy Behar pointed out that for years women have been trying to cover up their nipples, even pulling out a pair of nipple covers, as she told her colleagues in a clip from The View what her biggest concern was when it came to her chest:  

Joy Behar continued, saying that Kim Kardashian thinks it’s a “fashion thing now” to show your nipples, and she’s not wrong. For over a year — since Florence Pugh terrified people by showing her nipples in a sheer Valentino gown — we’ve seen a number of celebrities embracing the see-through trend. 

However, Whoopi Goldberg argued the issue is bigger than fashion, pointing out just how meaningful the nipple bra might be for some women, including those with breast cancer. She said:

Joy Behar agreed that she appreciated what the moderator said about mastectomies, and all of the women showed admiration for Kim Kardashian’s hustle, especially in the way she centered the marketing of the bra around climate change. Whoopi Goldberg continued: 

Sunny Hostin also pointed out that staying aware of the trends was part of what made SKIMS a $4 billion business, and you have to respect what Kim Kardashian is doing as a businesswoman. Hostin continued: 

Regardless of what you think about Kim Kardashian’s new nipple bra, she’s certainly got the women of The View talking about beauty standards and the sexualization of women’s bodies. You can see the segment for yourself below. 

Some good points were made regarding mastectomies and women feeling comfortable with their bodies, and who knows? Maybe SKIMS already has a bra that can help Joy Behar with her own concerns. The end of wedding season is upon us and the ladies of The View have something to say about it. This week, the all-female talk show chatted about their thoughts on weddings, and how they have become a financial strain on many guests and participants. Sheryl Haines asked co-host Whoopi Goldberg about how she feels about weddings, to which the comedian responded that she doesn’t particularly like going to weddings at all. She did, however, attend co-star Joy Behar’s wedding... for a hilariously weird reason. 

While Goldberg may not like wedding season, she was willing to attend Joy Behar’s wedding to her longtime husband Steve back in 2011. As to why she attended her co-host’s wedding, despite not being a fan of the hoopla around weddings, she had a very bizarre reason. She revealed on The View (via Entertainment Weekly):

It's pretty dark perspective, however, it seems like Goldberg really respected the practical reason instead of all of the romance usually associated with weddings . Behar, who is now 80, married her husband Steve when she was in her late 60s after being married once prior. While love certainly is usually enough of a reason to tie the knot, it seems like the blunt nature of Behar’s perspective around her own marriage was enough to charm the Ghost actress into attending the ceremony. As to if that was actually the reason The View host got married, Behar said, laughing:

While Whoopi Goldberg may not like attending weddings, she's had three herself due to the fact she 's been married three times. She's said previously that she couldn’t wait to get divorced every time that she got married, so her take on weddings isn't necessarily surprising. She may not love marriage, but she is a vocal supporter of one-night stands, so maybe its the commitment that doesn't sit well with the talk show host. The EGOT winner never shies away from sharing her true thoughts and opinions on her daytime discussion show, and her true honesty is truly refreshing. 

Goldberg would likely be more supportive of the many couples this year who decided to opt out of having a wedding and decided to make their love official at the courthouse. Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup decided to have a “justice of the peace” style affair, and based on reports, Chris Evans and Alba Baptista also had a small, intimate celebration. A massive wedding isn’t always required to celebrate love, and I totally see where Goldberg is coming from when it comes to attending weddings, as the event sometimes puts a lot of pressure on guests. It sounds like if you want the Color Purple star at your wedding, you need a pretty practical reason for doing so.

The View has officially returned to ABC for Season 27, but the new season kicked off with one of the longtime co-hosts missing. It wasn't Sara Haines despite earlier rumors that she was leaving the show, but Whoopi Goldberg who was absent for the season premiere. After her co-hosts addressed her absence, Goldberg herself appeared in a video message with an update about her health. 

Joy Behar addressed Whoopi Goldberg's absence first by revealing that her co-host is dealing with "her third bout" of COVID-19, but "she's just a little bit under the weather" thanks to being vaccinated. In her video, Goldberg provided an update on her health, looking tired but definitely with her sense of humor intact. The View co-host said: 

Count on Whoopi Goldberg to deliver some humor to go along with a health update! The View co-host – who amusingly defended one night stands earlier this summer – debunked the wild idea that she was at Burning Man, in reference to the annual desert campout that was flooded and ended in disaster this year with attendees stranded for some time.  She's just at home, waiting to recover from COVID so that she can return to The View. Goldberg also spoke about being stuck in her room, and even she had to laugh out loud at the situation:

Whoopi Goldberg reassuring fans of The View while also cracking some jokes was nice to see after Season 27 had to start without her, not too long after rumors of the show's cancellation were swirling. As Joy Behar noted, this wasn't her co-host's first battle with COVID, and Goldberg had to take a break from the show back in early 2022 as well. She missed some episodes earlier this year due to what Behar described as "fighting a bad cold."

Behind-the-scenes drama isn’t exactly out of the ordinary for The View, but it’s not often that those conflicts rope in other stars from notable TV shows. That’s been the case as of late, as Jersey Shore alum Snooki has been entangled in a seemingly tense situation with talk show host Joy Behar. The MTV alum claimed she and Behar had an uncomfortable encounter years ago, and it’s apparently stuck with her. She and her JS co-stars recently made an appearance on the ABC chatfest, and Behar did not participate in the interview. We now have some details regarding what allegedly went down during that taping. 

Why Joy Behar Allegedly Didn’t Take Part In The View’s Latest Jersey Shore Interview

Snooki – whose real name is Nicole Polizzi – appeared on The View alongside the rest of her co-stars earlier this month to promote the new season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. When the group visited the show, they were interviewed by Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farrah Griffin. Though Joy Behar didn’t join the discussion, she was present during the taping. Polizzi’s longtime friend and makeup artist, Joey Camasta, alleges that Behar “chose not to be in the segment and was hiding the whole time.” Camasta further claimed Behar ultimately chose to sit out the chat because of uneasy moments she’s had with the cast in the past. He added:

For what it’s worth, the interview ultimately went smoothly, with the veteran TV stars sharing some insight into their careers and personal lives. The show’s co-hosts also dished out some solid questions. As of this writing, ABC has not addressed the validity of the comments Joey Camasta shared with Page Six. What can be said, however, is what’s been said about the alleged feud between the two stars is that it (ironically) sounds like something out of a reality show.

What Happened During The Alleged Bathroom Confrontation Between Snooki And Joy Behar?

This month, the Jersey Shore cast also appeared on an episode of Watch What Happens Live, during which host Andy Cohen posed a question to the group amid a segment. Cohen asked who was the rudest celebrity they encountered when they rose to fame in the 2000s. Joy Behar was name-dropped, and Snooki proceeded to say that “Joy was so mean to me.” As the 35-year-old media personality puts it, Behar “cornered” her in a bathroom and said, “You’re not Italian!,” leading her to only respond by saying, “OK, ma’am.” 

Joy Behar, years ago, was vocal about her disdain for Nicole Polizzi and her fellow MTV stars. During an episode of The View that aired over a decade ago, Behar chastised the group for their on-air personas. She also said that she had a “personal” issue with them, because while growing up, she knew kids like that – and they were apparently unkind to her. Polizzi eventually clapped back at the remarks while posting a video alongside co-star Nicole “JWoww” Farley, in which they mocked Behar. Though Polizzi eventually apologized for her actions. 

These days, though, Snooki seems to be mostly past that drama, though, and the same is true in regard to her relationship with the show she’s appeared on for so many years. She left the Jersey Shore in 2019 for “a lot of reasons,” but mainly because she didn’t want to be away from her kids. (She’d also later claim the show had a “toxic environment.”) Now, however, she appears content with being reunited with her friends and colleagues. 

Chances we may not get any more major developments in the purported feud between Joy Behar and Nicole Polizzi. However, one of them could always choose to speak out and say more on the matter. Only time will tell but, at present, one would think that the View producers are just happy nothing serious popped off during that recent taping.

The View airs weekdays on ABC at 11 p.m. ET, while Jersey Shore: Family Vacation airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on MTV as part of the 2023 TV schedule. Episodes are also available to stream with a Paramount+ subscription.

The View has been going strong on ABC for 26 seasons, with its mix of co-hosts debating hot topics that range from the frivolous — like pool sex and why it sucks — to serious subjects like race and the Holocaust. But have on-screen tensions risen to the point that the alphabet network is considering canceling its daytime mainstay? That’s allegedly the case, according to the National Enquirer, but another source says not so fast. What really is going on behind the scenes of The View? 

Reports that The View might be in danger of getting the axe come just weeks after the death of Bill Geddie, who created the show with Barbara Walters in 1997 and served as its executive producer for 17 years. According to a source for the National Enquirer (per RadarOnline), the quality of the show has gone down since Geddie left, with viewers allegedly being turned off by the increased fighting amongst its co-hosts. The insider said: 

The magazine reportedly pointed to the co-hosts recently bumping heads over country singer Miranda Lambert calling out fans for taking selfies rather than listening to her sing, as well as Jason Aldean’s controversial single “Try That in a Small Town” as two examples of disagreements that had advertisers saying The View had "created more backlash than they ever bargained for."

The National Enquirer allegedly went on to report that an industry insider said showrunners were concerned about declining ratings; however, a spokesperson for The View allegedly told RadarOnline there was “no truth” to that rumor, saying: 

While Whoopi Goldberg went against her colleagues by taking Miranda Lambert’s side in the above-mentioned selfie scandal, and Sunny Hostin reportedly had a different opinion than Joy Behar and Sara Haines on Jason Aldean, such discussions are typical on The View. Getting different perspectives from women of different ages and backgrounds is the point of the show that Bill Geddie and Barbara Walters created — though it was apparently never intended to be get political.

Bill Geddie allegedly said as much, according to Whoopi Goldberg, who recalled the support she got from the co-creator when she found herself in hot water for her defense of Michael Vick amid his dogfighting arrest back when she first started on The View in 2007. 

“That’s the beauty of the show. Everyone has an opinion, and that’s why we do it,” was what he’d said, according to the moderator, and Sherri Shepherd shared similar experiences in which she’d want to apologize for something she’d said, with Geddie reportedly telling her, “It’s not [The Apology Show]. It’s called The View.”

Only time will tell whether or not ABC is really concerned about the direction of the talk show, which has garnered 31 Daytime Emmy Awards. The View is set to return for a 27th season this fall, but with the writer’s and actor’s strikes ongoing, you’ll have to keep your eye on the 2023 TV schedule for updates on that and all of the other upcoming premiere dates. 

The hosting panel central to The View is known for getting candid about any number of subjects, and the episode airing on August 2 was no different. But while it started off with a fairly serious conversation tied to the former POTUS’ indictments, the Hot Topics segment then switched gears to become Hawt Tawpics as the five women discussed a recent report that questioned the merits of vacation sex. The already amusing convo went off the deep end, so to speak, when Whoopi Goldberg broke her temporary silence to hilariously make it clear how much she doesn’t get behind the act of having sex in a swimming pool. 

Before getting to the point that had one of The View’s producers cradling his head in one hand, Whoopi Goldberg brought up the recent Wall Street Journal article that aimed to point out the various ways in which a seemingly easygoing experience like a vacation isn’t as synonymous with sexy time as one might think. (Less-than-ideal elements such as food poisoning, sunburns, rowdy hotel neighbors and more were listed as libido-killers.) After going through the basics, Goldberg dismissed the info by ripping up her index cards, and she remained quiet during the next few minutes, though reacted to her co-hosts’ comments with wide and questioning eyes at times. Here’s where it went from there: 

• Alyssa Farah Griffin: I read this article as a newlywed, and I didn't even know it was a vacation if you didn't have sex on it. It didn't even make sense to me. 
• Sunny Hostin: Isn't that one of the purposes of a vacation?
• Sara Haines: It says to put it on your to-do list, and I thought, you need it on your to-do list when you have three kids, two full-time jobs and a house. When it's automatic is on vacation; Max loves Vacation Sara. She's so hot. 
• Joy Behar: I think it might be: you go on vacation with your husband, and then you have sex with somebody you meet there. Now that's a vacation. 

Alyssa Farah Griffin was especially tickled when Sara Haines started talking about having sex on her to-do list, and how much her hubby Max Shifrin adored when she was in vacation-mode. Haines opined that getting down and dirty while away from home allows for a release where you're more relaxed and not thinking about daily issues. 

And everyone agreed that alcohol can indeed grease the wheel, as it were. Joy Behar voiced her belief that sex in Italy is better than anywhere else, with Sunny Hostin guessing that the wine in the region added to that pleasure, given the lack of additives and sulfates. At some point soon after, Behar joked about keeping a handful of sand around so couples can pretend they're having sex on the beach, which sparked an inquisitive "Sand??" from Goldberg. 

Which led to Griffin sharing a couple of stats from the article that quickly sent the others spiraling. 

• Griffin: So apparently 85% of people fantasize about sex in nature, 83% about sex on the beach. 
• Hostin: In nature?
• Haines: That sand is really not okay.
• Behar: Sex on the Beach is a drink, and that's a fun thing to order. You say to the waiter, 'Ehh, I'll have sex on the beach.'

And that, my friends, is where Whoopi Goldberg stole the conversation, and essentially capped the entire segment off with her hilarious takes on beach boinking and pool sex, with her carefully construed sentences not exactly making producer Brian Teta feel better about her continuing that line of thought. In the esteemed EGOT winner's words:

I would absolutely LOVE to know how Whoopi Goldberg was going to finish that sentence: "Have you ever tried to put anything...?" The mind reels with the filthiest of SWF possibilities. 

And in case you wondered what Brian Teta looked like when the camera switched to him:

Goldberg then amusingly feigned anger and called the EP out for telling her to get engaged in the conversation, and then immediately telling her to back away again whenever she did get engaged. And then, despite Sunny Hostin saying that she was "learning things" from the moderator, the topic was changed, and everyone was left to go about the rest of their day to form whatever opinions they want about pool sex.

The View already dealt with a massive loss last year when journalism icon and The View co-creator Barbara Walters died at age 93. The show and fans have suffered another loss after the show's other co-creator Bill Geddie died unexpectedly. Following the sad announcement, multiple co-hosts of the daytime TV staple, including Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin, hopped online to pay tribute to the former producer.

Variety initially reported Geddie’s passing on July 21. The longtime TV and news producer reportedly died after cardiac-related issues. His family released a statement calling him “a big deal in TV” and on the home front. They also pointed out his “genuine love for television and entertainment” which spearheaded his love for all art forms. Upon the statement hitting the internet, The View took to Twitter to relay a sweet message to the viewers, writing:

Of course, The View's hosts and crew wanted to pay tribute to the man behind the long-running talk show’s success. Longtime View staple Joy Behar was the first to pay tribute by posting a statement on her Twitter account.

Behar had a heartfelt response given the years she and Bill Geddie had worked together. She was genuinely grateful to Geddie and Walters for selecting her to participate in the panel TV show. Following her moving words, her co-host Sunny Hostin followed suit by expressing her gratitude to the late TV producer on Instagram.

If it wasn’t for Geddie’s encouragement, Hostin might’ve never become a permanent View panelist in 2016. The legal TV analyst appeared heartbroken over her friend and mentor’s sudden passing. Hostin’s expression of gratitude was followed up by current View panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin, who took to her Twitter to express her condolences.

Despite never working with Bill Geddie, Griffin knew of the former news cameraman's impact on the daytime TV landscape. Without Geddie and Barbara Walters, the current co-host and other View panelists wouldn’t have this platform to express their opinions. After Griffin’s tribute, former View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck hopped on her Instagram to explain how important The View creator was to her TV career.

It appeared Geddie pushed the women of The View to express their thoughts on subjects – no matter how unpopular they were. He was seen as “an authentic supporter of the voices of women on television” during her time on the panel chatfest. Hasselback’s former co-host Sherri Shepherd followed suit by speaking on how Geddie impacted her career, writing on Instagram:

Much like Sunny Hostin, who Shepherd helped get more money when she joined The View, the talk show host was grateful to Geddie for seeing something in her that she didn’t see in herself upon joining the talk show. Shepherd had received great advice from the late Walters about handling TV interviews during her time on the show. If the late TV producer hadn’t pushed and encouraged the comedian, she would’ve likely never hosted her self-titled daytime talk show, which was renewed for two more seasons.

Outside of The View, he produced and directed numerous TV specials for Barbara Walters, including her iconic 10 Most Fascinating People specials from 1993 to 2015.

The View is one of the top places to be on daytime TV for discussion and debate on a variety of current events, along with some guaranteed humor courtesy of at least Whoopi Goldberg. In a recent episode, discussion of the term "wifey" took a hilarious turn when Goldberg had an amusing response to what fellow panelist Sara Haines was saying about taking that term as a compliment. 

The conversation didn't get off to a joking start, as Whoopi Goldberg brought up Glamour magazine's take that "wifey" isn't a compliment and instead means being cute and submissive. Sara Haines was the first to react to the issue, but it wasn't long before Goldberg hilariously interjected. Here's how it went down:

• Sara Haines: "I don't hear people use the term 'wifey,' but when they say that you're marrying material, I take that very much as a compliment. I think you need to share certain value systems that you're worth more than a one night stand."
• Whoopi Goldberg: "What's wrong with us one night stands?"
• Sara Haines: "[laughs] I'd be flattered if someone just wanted me for one night, but if you're putting up with me, you're probably going to be here for a while. So I think to me it was more you're a long termer. You're someone I can commit with, care with."

Sara Haines wasn't the only one laughing at Whoopi Goldberg's amusing defense of one night stands, as the audience was clearly loving it and Goldberg herself was smiling at the reaction. The two panelists have had some notable interactions on the show, not the least of which was Haines' phone recently going off in the middle of Goldberg's statement about the SAG strike. (The View also recently featured guest Dermot Mulroney walking off in support of the WGA writers strike.)

The conversation about "wifey" continued after the laughter died down, with panelist Joy Behar going on to point out part of some traditional marriage vows that cast a husband and a wife in different roles. Behar shared her two cents:

Whoopi Goldberg then spoke up to make a point about what women were not allowed to do back in the 20th century that some younger The View fans may not be entirely aware of. Goldberg said:

Goldberg was referring to a time before the Equal Credit Opportunity Act that was passed in 1974 to prohibit discrimination by any creditor or card issuer against anybody on the basis of their sex or marital status. With Goldberg and Behar born in 1955 and 1942, respectively, they likely experienced what they were telling the rest of the panel and the audience about.

It’s no secret that Meghan McCain still harbors negative feelings about her time on The View, and following some troublesome comments about Whoopi Goldberg from fellow former co-host Rosie O’Donnell, McCain was inspired to speak out again in a column for the Daily Mail. Current co-host Sunny Hostin was asked about that recent drama, and while each of the ladies has said there’s no bad blood between them, Hostin slipped in a little dig at her former colleague, as she defended the ABC talk show.

Meghan McCain has detailed multiple issues she had during the four years she served as a co-host on The View, including the comment from Joy Behar that ultimately led to her exit. She said the Emmy-winning daytime TV show was full of ”toxic mean girl” nastiness and recently backed up Rosie O’Donnell’s claims that people on the show had minimized coverage of important issues to protect their own interests. When Sunny Hostin was asked about the remarks on Watch What Happens Live, she took a sip from her martini before responding: 

Sunny Hostin only addressed the fan’s assertion that Meghan McCain had said The View keeps getting worse, rather than any of the specific accusations made in the column — which Hostin said she hadn’t read. But she followed up the ratings talk with some subtle shade, telling Andy Cohen: 

Is Sunny Hostin suggesting that Meghan McCain might be more fit for the drama of The Real Housewives franchise than the hot topics of The View? She went on to say McCain would be great on The Real Housewives of Potomac, “or any of them.” You can watch the full exchange below: 

Despite the jab at Meghan McCain’s expense, Sunny Hostin maintains that the two are friends, but the same likely can’t be said for other members of The View’s panel. Whoopi Goldberg — who was known to have some pretty cringe-worthy exchanges with McCain on the show — spoke out last year about how The View has changed since McCain announced she was leaving. She said there have been fewer “backstage problems,” and the atmosphere is “calmer” and “better.”

While The View has featured much squabbling and in-fighting among its various hosts over the past 26 years, the women at the helm of the morning show could all agree on at least one thing as of late: nobody who’s taken the stage in recent months has been guilty of passing gas on the air, regardless of whatever fart-tethered accusations get bandied about among the fanbase. And while it hasn’t been directly addressed during any episodes, the team behind the ABC stalwart has indeed figured out a way to fend off flatulent attributions. 

Following the most recent example of such an incident, which happened on the episode that aired March 21, Whoopi Goldberg made a point to try and squash any viewer beliefs that she or one of her co-hosts went toot-toot, blaming the unidentified noise on their coffee mugs. Not that the dishes themselves were farting — though how amazingly baffling would that excuse have been? — but that the mugs’ bottoms were scraping the surface of the glass table in just such a distinctly audible way.

So how have the show’s producers fixed the definitely-not-a-fart noises? Not with the Mythbusters’ non-patented fart-catcher, but with a product that’s particularly perfect for the job: coasters. As viewers may or may not have noticed in the days after the most recent fart-dodging defense, The View’s hosts are now putting their signature blue coffee mugs atop white coasters, which have (at least for now) put a stop to strange and random noises as convos are happening.

According to EW, a director for the show was inclined to test how the mugs looked while sitting on the white coasters. And it would appear the aesthetic was enough of a winner that those coasters stuck around since first being added in the March 24 telecast.

Some of the fart-fueled attention first kicked off back in January, where a mysterious spill left part of the table covered in water, which led to a suspicious raspberry sound or two that weren’t addressed in full. And one might imagine the hosts heard quite a few comments from fans about it, considering how quickly Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and others were to shut down fart accusations after Sara Haines’ mug sounded off, with the Star Trek vet saying: 

To be fair, farting noises aren’t exactly the biggest topic of criticism that The View’s hosts have faced of late. A week ahead of the muggy mayhem, Whoopi Goldberg casually used an ethnic slur during a segment, and apologized for it both on the episode and then again after the fact. Joy Behar was the subject of some critical scrutiny from past guest Liam Neeson, who voiced his discomfort in Behar’s overtly flirty behavior and comments.

Now that they’ve figured out how to avoid being needlessly blamed for potentially gassy audio on The View, maybe other shows that have been plagued by similar situations. For instance, Monday Night Football has been the home of various on-air farts, both real and denied, as have various cable news broadcasts. But I don’t see anybody wrestling the crown away from the queen herself, Wendy Williams, who pulled off a fart-and-burp combo to last the ages. 

The ladies on The View rarely seem to let anything stop them from voicing their opinions, even when their musings come at the risk of boos from the audience or being sprayed down by their fellow co-hosts. However, it’s not as frequent that those vocalized opinions leave their guests as uncomfortable as Liam Neeson clearly was during his recent visit. The action film star has since shared his own views — and they’re less than complimentary — about the “embarrassing” interview, in which Joy Behar’s longtime crush on the actor overshadowed all other topics.

Liam Neeson dropped by the Emmy-winning ABC talk show on February 15 to promote his new movie Marlowe. What he got was a different experience altogether, as Joy Behar’s crush on the actor was quickly revealed, leading to some awkward silences from the overwhelmed co-host and jabs from her colleagues like, “Joy wants to get ‘Taken’ by you.” The star of stage and screen opened up to Rolling Stone about how uncomfortable he was, after looking forward to discussing real issues with the panel. He recalled: 

It certainly must have been disappointing for Liam Neeson to think he was going to be able to engage in some debate about important issues like gun violence, only to have the entire interview revolve around Joy Behar’s crush. The Love Actually actor said he did, however, get to have that conversation, albeit off the air. Neeson continued: 

Embarrassing for Liam Neeson or Joy Behar? Sounds like both! When the actor joined the co-hosts on stage, they briefly discussed his new movie, Marlowe — which made around $2 million in its opening weekend at the box office — before Joy Behar turned the topic back to her crush. The shift garnered some eye-rolling from Liam Neeson, as the ladies discussed the Valentine’s Day cards he’d gifted each of them and asked him to draw hearts on them.  

Joy Behar then turned the focus back to Neeson’s career, but again, the conversation was quickly hijacked when the ladies continued to mention just how often Behar has spoken about the actor on The View over the years. Sunny Hostin even introduced a cringe-worthy montage that showed Behar talking about being aroused by the Taken movies and saying multiple times to “sprinkle my ashes over Liam Neeson.” You can see the full interview that made the famed actor so uncomfortable below: 

You can definitely see from Liam Neeson’s body language in that clip that he was not happy about the way that interview went down. What was probably such a big moment for Joy Behar may not be the happiest memory for The View co-host after all. I wonder if there’s somewhere else she wants her ashes scattered now? Perhaps she'll provide an update on a future broadcast.

Sometimes the best thing about a job is the friendships you make at work. It’s nice — if not necessary — to have people who understand what you go through for a good chunk of the waking hours of your day. The recently re-signed ladies of The View certainly seem to know the power of a good work bestie, and that’s why moderator Whoopi Goldberg got a little bit in her feelings on a recent episode of the ABC talk show, after longtime co-host Joy Behar said she was “happy” she was fired from the series in 2013, because all her friends had left.

In discussion about how the pandemic and working remotely has affected people’s ability to have a work best friend, Joy Behar offered her strong opinion to her colleagues on The View. She stated that if she didn’t have friends at work, she did not want to be there anymore. In her words: 

Joy Behar, who left The View in August 2013 before returning two years later, got a stare-down from Whoopi Goldberg’s end of the table, as the actress faked a quivering lip and milked the audience’s laughs with her pout. Goldberg challenged Behar, saying: 

Joy Behar brushed off the Sister Act star’s faux tears, clarifying to the moderator: 

Whoopi Goldberg joined as moderator in 2007, replacing Rosie O’Donnell, so the assertion that she’d “just” come on six years earlier is all relative, considering Joy Behar was one of the original co-hosts on the show when it was created by the late Barbara Walters in 1997. She was also surely trying to downplay her comment, as she also said she was talking about the people backstage, who presumably had built a strong friendship with Behar since the earlier days of The View. 

Alyssa Farah Griffin jumped to Joy Behar’s defense, explaining to the audience that there are so many people behind the scenes that the audience doesn’t see. They’re the ones who get the real tea, Griffin said, as Behar joked that they’re also the ones who “better keep their mouths shut.” You can watch the full exchange below:

As you can see, Whoopi Goldberg was not actually offended by her co-worker’s remarks (as it’s not like she called her an “old broad”). But Goldberg assured the audience that she and Joy Behar had been friends for a long time and that she was just teasing her.

As Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes continue to show off their relationship publicly, fans of the GMA3: What You Need to Know co-anchors await news of their future on the program. The couple were suspended from the show, as news of their alleged affair became a “distraction,” and over a month later, speculation has turned to whether they will be fired and who could serve as their replacements. Amid news that Robach has “lost most of her friends” at the network, fellow ABC employees Joy Behar and Sara Haines appeared to reference the situation on The View.

Infidelity came up as a topic on the January 6 episode of ABC’s daytime talk show in regards to Gabrielle Union’s recent admissions of cheating in a past relationship. Joy Behar jumped topics and appeared to reference the GMA3 employees’ situation when asking if a workplace affair could ever be justified by circumstances at home. She said on The View: 

The specific mention of meeting “somebody at the office” amid an unhappy marriage in which children are involved definitely makes it sound like she could be talking about Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes — especially given that Joy Behar said she’d get in trouble for saying it. Both Robach and Holmes got married to their respective spouses in 2010, and each is reported to have separated in August, a few months before their relationship was exposed. Holmes filed for divorce from Marilee Fiebig over the holidays.

Sara Haines then weighed in, taking the supposedly hypothetical situation further by differentiating between a fling and falling in love with someone else. She said:

The other co-hosts began discussing different caveats of infidelity, including whether or not a cheating spouse should keep their affair under wraps in order to avoid “publicly humiliating” the other party, prompting Ana Navarro to declare: 

T.J. Holmes’ estranged wife Marilee Fiebig broke her silence about the situation after the divorce papers were filed, saying via her attorney that she was disappointed with Holmes’ “lack of discretion, respect and sensitivity toward Marilee and the party's daughter.” Amy Robach’s husband, Melrose Place actor Andrew Shue has not spoken publicly but did appear with his sons in a family photo without Robach over the holiday.

CBS’ Gayle King has also shared her thoughts on the brouhaha, saying it’s gotten “sloppy,” as some of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ other colleagues at ABC, including David Muir, apparently also have strong feelings.

When Meghan McCain ultimately quit ABC’s The View, she was in a period of transition in her personal life. The TV personality had just become a mom for the first time, and she was due back at work at The View while she was still trying to figure out what her changed life would look like. Yet when she came back, her co-star on the series Joy Behar was reportedly not happy to see her. According to McCain, she wasn’t subtle about it either. 

Megan McCain has been off of television since last summer, but she’s still made public appearances since then, recently appearing on The Commentary Magazine Podcast. She opened up about the “lack of nuance” in mainstream media in a candid interview touching on her The View experience, but also recalled exactly what the straw was that made her want to leave the daytime TV show. She said she was off on maternity leave and enjoying her life for a time, and on her first day back an interaction with Joy Behar left a sour taste in her mouth. She said:

This is actually a publicly documented experience. When Meghan McCain returned from maternity leave on The View, she and Joy Behar got into a spat during an episode that was publicized at the time. During the conversation, which happened to be about whether or not there should be more than two political parties, Meghan McCain joked, ‘You missed me so much Joy.” Behar then deadpanned:

As part of the new interview, McCain also opened up about another comment made on The View "on air, on camera" about how "the only thing I would ever breastfeed is a cactus." She says this was after she said she'd suffered miscarriages, which her co-hosts allegedly knew about. 

What Else Meghan McCain Has Said About Leaving The View

The above incident occurred in January of 2021, six months before MCCain ultimately announced her exit from the show. When she did ultimately leave, Meghan McCain noted a changing world due to COVID and motherhood as reasons behind her exit. She did not call out Joy Behar’s comment as she did here, instead saying: 

Over the last year, The View has continued to maintain a conservative slot on the panel of hosts. However, until recently no replacement for Meghan McCain had been announced. Instead, the show only began really starting to push for a permanent The View replacement early last month, with Elisabeth Hasselbeck landing the gig after previously being fired from the show. During her first episode this week, abortion and other heated topics were discussed. 

For her part, Meghan McCain has been open about feeling like she worked in a toxic space and that she had trouble being "produced" by someone who didn't get her or her beliefs. To note, ABC executives have alleged The View issues were instigated by the former co-host herself. Yet the former TV personality notes that her time on the show was still notable for myriad reasons, including The View's ratings. 

We'll have to see what's next for Meghan McCain, but the show has continued trucking on without her. It's been in hot water recently too, after View co-hosts were sent a cease and desist letter over comments made on the air. No one would accuse the BTS workings on this show of being boring. 

The View is a show that consistently does not hold back where opinions are concerned. Occasionally those opinions get the women on the show into some hot water, as happened when Whoopi Goldberg was suspended by ABC over Holocaust-related comments earlier in 2022. The ABC talk show was issued a cease and desist letter over new comments made on the air by Goldberg and fellow co-host Joy Behar, and subsequently Goldberg also apologized on the show.

During an episode of The View earlier this week, the cast got to talking about the TPUSA Student Action Summit, which was recently held in Tampa, Florida. Turning Point USA is known as a conservative group that advocates those values in particular to students at the high school and college levels.

During the discussion, Joy Behar accused Ron DeSantis of “doing nothing” about a group of Neo-Nazis that camped out at the event, but also allegedly tied those actions to the summit while pointing out what happened was “just like Goebbels did during the Third Reich.” Later, The View read a disclaimer that the Neo-Nazis present at the event had nothing to do with the actual event, and that’s when Whoopi Goldberg noted:

The show was later asked to read a second disclaimer. That wasn’t the end of the matter, however. Turning Point USA’s representative Veronica Peterson then sent a letter to The View. Fox News landed a copy of the letter, which reads in part: 

Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar are not known for holding back their personal opinions on the daytime TV show. While we recently learned The View was not originally intended to be political in nature, that's the direction it has gone in over the years, and occasional this leads to disclaimers and more on the show.

In this case, after the cease and desist news broke, Whoopi Goldberg also offered an apology on the show about the comments that were made on the air. She similarly apologized the last time her comments led to backlash on The View. She said today that she doesn't like when people "make assumptions" about her and noted she should not have done the same to members of the organization when she linked them to the Neo-Nazi demonstrators.

The View is in the process of bringing in another conservative host after Megan McCain's exit earlier in 2022, but McCain's spoken out about feeling like the show was "isolating" for her as the person on the panel with a conservative viewpoint. Former host Candace Cameron Bure has made similar comments, though in her case, Bure said The View gig gave her anxiety thanks to feeling like she was "the only one at the table" that might have her particular viewpoint.

Kim Kardashian and co. recently did press recently ahead of the release of their new Hulu show, and some of the comments have drawn criticism. Kim, in particular, made unapologetic comments about how their family unit worked their butts off to get where they are and that women need to the same in business to achieve success such as her own. Critics online argue that the reality star’s “tone deaf” statements lacked consideration for poor/working class women. Now, the panelists over at The View have weighed in on the situation.

The group was somewhat divided on it all during the latest episode. The View’s Whoopi Goldberg – who just returned to the show after a two-week suspension for her own controversial views – reflected on a recurring point that Kim Kardashian got a major head start in life compared to the people she addressed with her comments. The co-host defended Kardashian, saying that everyone decided she would “be nothing” following her infamous 2007 sex tape and that it turned out to be not but a blanket statement which doesn’t work anymore.

The controversial remarks, however, reminded Joy Behar of Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin's college admissions scandal, implying how privilege often begets privilege, in other words. Behar noted that she herself was a “poor kid” who went to a “city school,” but she still saw hard-working women that didn’t exactly fit the reality TV star's version of success or her privileges. She said:

Another View co-star, Sunny Hostin, echoed Joy Behar’s sentiments. In her perspective, Kim Kardashian coming from a wealthy family with connections, along with having a pretty face, makes her unqualified to speak on behalf of regular people who struggle and aspire for more without those things. All in all, Hostin thinks the Keeping Up with the Kardashians alum came across as “very elitist.”

Season regular Sara Haines and guest co-host Stephanie Grisham would disagree, though. Haines offered that the SKIMS founder should’ve prefaced her viral comments with more context but ultimately, was “not wrong” in her original point about work ethic. The original point being that in an age of social media influencing – arguably created by the Kardashians – people think work is “easy” when it isn't. Likewise, guest commentator Grisham added:

This wouldn’t be the first time that folks are divided over Kim Kardashian. Her co-parenting troubles with ex Kanye West of late incited many online, including famous faces like Azealia Banks, to defend her, while others would react with condemnation. The most frequent criticism that both Kardashian and the rest of her family receive, though, concerns the heightened (and, some would argue, unrealistic) beauty standard they market to their fans.

Kim Kardashian has said in the past that she knows that the Internet and all its peoples blame her for “everything” – but that she’s going to keep trucking on regardless. Likely, the same will hold true concerning this work ethic controversy and what The View also thinks of her.

The new year has so far not brought any relief from COVID or the effect the virus has on our daily lives. The Omicron variant continues to surge, and news about the many celebrities and athletes testing positive continues to wreak havoc in the worlds of sports and entertainment, among many other areas of the workforce. The View is having a particularly rough time, with the ABC daytime talk show going from one to two missing co-hosts this week as it flips back to remote productions.

On January 3, Joy Behar announced that Whoopi Goldberg had tested positive for COVID, likely making her unavailable for The View until the following week. On January 4, the Emmy Award-winning show took another hit, as Joy Behar said co-host Sara Haines had been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID, and she too would be missing from the show. In her words:

Unfortunately it does feel pretty gloomy — and more like 2020 than any of us would prefer — to see the entertainment industry either transitioning back to remote work or shutting down altogether when going remote isn’t an option. The View co-hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin were joined by guest co-host Ana Navarro and Yvette Nicole Brown, who was filling in for Sara Haines, with all present and accounted for panelists appearing from their homes.

On the January 3 episode of The View, the co-hosts all discussed how COVID had affected their holidays, with Sara Haines saying that while she and her children were able to safely visit her parents in Florida, her husband had tested positive in the meantime.

It wasn’t specified whether or not her husband’s positive test was the close contact that necessitated Sara Haines' absence from The View, but the co-host did go on to say on the January 3 show that her family is “all healthy now.” With four negative COVID tests, it really does seem like she might have dodged a bullet, and hopefully she remains well and can resume her co-hosting duties soon.

Whoopi Goldberg, meanwhile, had also missed a couple of episodes last month after being exposed to COVID. She was out for the December 15 and 16 episodes of The View ahead of its winter hiatus, and Joy Behar more formally announced the fellow comedienne's absence on January 3.

Sunny Hostin also revealed that she and her mother also tested positive for COVID over the holidays, but she had recovered in time to return to The View in the new year. Fingers crossed the often controversial talk show can find a sense of hosting normalcy as the new year continues.

The drama between Meghan McCain and The View has intensified after the former co-host spoke about her experience on the talk show while promoting her new memoir. (Which also features such stories.) McCain alleged the set was “toxic” due to her View co-hosts, leading to her exit from the show. Those claims were a departure fromMcCain’s original reason for leaving the show. After hearing the former View co-host’s claims, her former network refuted such claims and unofficially clapped back at McCain and her memoir.

According to TMZ sources, ABC executives are furious over Meghan McCain’s workplace allegations featured in her new memoir Bad Republican, and her promotional campaign across various conservative talk shows probably isn't helping.  McCain’s recounting of her experiences on The View has been almost entirely one-sided and negative, while putting all the blame for her troubles on others, and continuing to stress that her exit from the show was her idea. But it turns out that might not have been the case at all. 

It's reproted that an internal investigation headed by ABC News chief Kim Goodwin found it was the conservative pundit who was also causing the toxic work environment to persist. It wasn’t just her onscreen spats with Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, but her behind-the-scenes behavior allegedly wasn’t too great either. The investigation came after Meghan McCain and Behar’s fiery spat earlier this year, after which it's alleged that Goldberg, Behar and Ana Navarro wanted the conservative co-host gone, as opposed to McCain choosing to leave completely of her own volition. 

ABC executives claimed Meghan McCain was the instigator in every situation, per TMZ. They found her to fuel onscreen (and off-screen) arguments along with keeping them going. The source alleged her departure was on the horizon for some time, and claimed former View producer James Goldston was informed to terminate the conservative pundit sooner, but he didn’t want to face the ire of conservative viewers.

These alleged rebuffs from ABC shouldn’t be too surprising. Rumors have been swirling for months about the friction between Meghan McCain and The View. Things have become so heightened that a View producer was allegedly trying to prevent anyone on the show from talking to her. Before she departed from the talk show, it was alleged McCain felt like a “lone wolf” as the show's token conservative. She wouldn’t have been the first conservative co-host to feel that way, and there are some who have backed up her claims that others behind the scenes are also responsible for the in-fighting. Despite the alleged animosity, McCain seems to be thriving after leaving the show.

Despite the drama, the show is currently filling her vacate seat with conservative women for Season 25, which airs weekdays at 11:00 a.m. on ABC. Just probably don't expect to see Meghan McCain to return for a guest spot anytime soon. 

ABC’s The View has seen plenty of co-hosts leave over the years, all departing for their own specific set of reasons. Yet Meghan McCain’s recent departure is seemingly proving to be one of its more dramatic exits. The conservative host announced her departure from the daytime staple back in July, citing her desire to do new things and commit more time to her newborn child and family. Many have wondered whether McCain would be discussing her time on the tumultuous talk show, and it now appears she’s ready to chat. She’s not only written a book on the matter but also engaged in a lengthy interview in which she candidly shared behind-the-scenes-details. 

The TV personality and writer recently produced an audio memoir called Bad Republican, in which she details her decision to leave the series. During her recent interview with Variety, she also shared thoughts on the state of the ABC series, stating her belief that the show has “demons” that need to be exorcised. While speaking on why she thinks the show has “a toxic work environment,” she shared thoughts on what it was like to be the lone conservative voice:

As many probably know, The View aims to present a panel of women, each hailing from different ethnic, socioeconomic and political backgrounds. The series typically brings on at least one panelist to provide a conservative perspective on the issues of the day. Meghan McCain effectively took on this role following the departure of Candace Cameron Bure. After McCain mentioned that this was a position that made her feel “isolated,” she went on to discuss her experiences backstage: 

The host’s tenure was filled with more than a few heated moments, a few of which involved colleagues Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. Though the squabbles would help with ratings,  she and Behar, in particular, even got into a disagreement that caused ABC News head Kim Godwin to intervene. One particularly tense exchange took place when the conservative pundit returned from maternity leave and seemed to playfully assert that Behar missed her. Behar responded by saying, “I did not. I did not miss you. Zero.” While talking to the trade, Meghan McCain says she never received an apology for the remark. 

Throughout the discussion, Meghan McCain discusses a number of other topics, including her relationship with the network execs and the notes she received. She even compared The View’s current status to that of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which has been marred by controversy over the past year, but McCain said the ABC series was toxic “in a different way.” With this, the media personality shared some pretty direct thoughts on whether she’d return to the show at some point:

With the show’s current situation, that group of women seem to be getting the opportunity. The co-host’s exit has obviously left an open spot and, for the currently airing Season 25, the show is looking to a revolving door of talent to fill the void. This roster includes conservative personalities like Condoleezza Rice and Gretchen Carlson. 

The program also seems to be eager to bring back former panelists for guest stints. But all in all, it seems Meghan McCain has no interest in returning in any capacity, as she seems set on moving on and remaining solely in her position as a DailyMail columnist.

Some of TV's most dependable rivalries in recent years have been front and center on ABC's The View, but things could potentially become less nerve-grinding in the topical chat show's future now that Meghan McCain is making her exit going into the fall. Of course, that only holds true if the network replaces McCain with someone who won't dive right into butting heads with cohosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. Before making any permanent replacement choice goes, though, it seems like The View will utilize a guest-host plan similar to how Jeopardy! has handled filling its Alex Trebek void.

Rather than racing around and trying to secure a permanent substitution for Meghan McCain, ABC will reportedly first bring in a variety of guest hosts after the conservative host's exit later this year. According to Page Six, the main goal is finding the "right person" to take over that particular slot, as opposed to just filling the seat as quickly as possible. It doesn't sound like anyone is facing any major pressure at this point, which definitely isn't always the case when it comes to major talk show exits like this.

At this point, it doesn't appear as if ABC is ready to go public with a list of guest hosts just yet, but fans can probably expect a mash-up of different personalities, very much like the revolving door of guest hosts that Jeopardy! has welcomed to the stage in 2021. Of course, The View's guest host round-up will include a bigger bevy of right-leaning potential replacements, and it'll certainly take someone with a strong personality to take Meghan McCain's place. Regardless of one's opinion of her (or any of the show's hosts), it's not the easiest and most stress-free gig to sit in that particular spotlight on a daily basis, especially when tempers are flaring.

The list of guest hosts will reportedly feature some more well-known personalities, but not everyone will be a familiar face to the masses. It all depends on whose point-of-view is the one that can be complemented by the others. While fans and the rumor mill have held past guest host Ana Navarro up as a solid choice to replace Meghan McCain, Page Six also stated that Navarro's permanent involvement would be a major financial investment for ABC. Because she lives in Florida and not in New York where The View films, she would allegedly need to see more dollar signs to make the new gig worth the travels. McCain claimed the eventual shift back to in-studio filming is part of the reason behind her exit, as she has no interest in making those trips as a new mom.

To date, Jeopardy! has featured 13 guest hosts on the long road to finding a more permanent replacement for Alex Trebek. It's obviously a lot harder to properly replace someone who hosted a show for 37 years as opposed to four years, but change is almost always messy. Speaking of, over on The Talk, longtime co-host Sharon Osbourne exited after her controversial situation regarding Piers Morgan and Sheryl Underwood, and was recently replaced with Jerry O'Connell, of all people. Here's hoping The View can possibly find some similarly inspired choices going forward.

With McCain leaving The View now fully out in the open, insiders are spilling some alleged tea regarding behind-the-scenes issues that may have played into her decision to leave.

According to Page Six, sources alleged that Meghan McCain’s departure from The View had been brewing for a while, with McCain reportedly being miserable for months, especially after having a baby during the pandemic. Despite the co-host’s frustrations, The View is obviously still a major TV gig that one would hope could be a long-lasting job. But here's how the process allegedly went for McCain:

Allegedly, the ongoing back-and-forth tiffs between the show’s most prominent conservative co-host and her colleagues were seemingly happening more and more often, gaining more publicity each time. That was most evident with her May blowup with View veteran Joy Behar and her recent tangle with the show’s moderator Whoopi Goldberg. As such, it’s certainly reasonable for Meghan McCain to want to leave the show if it isn’t a mentally sound space for her anymore. (If it ever was.) She definitely wouldn't be the first to leave for that reason.

Her fellow View co-hosts allegedly share that sentiment, though in a slightly different way. According to Page Six, Meghan McCain’s co-hosts were reportedly becoming just as frustrated by the growing tension on the political chatfest, alleging that Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Ana Navarro were all pushing for Meghan McCain to be fired, as opposed to pressuring her to quit on her own terms. Sources alleged that Goldberg, Behar and Navarro banded together to talk with ABC News president Kim Godwin about their dissatisfaction with McCain, with the trio reportedly telling their relatively new boss that they couldn’t “work with her anymore.”

Whoopi Goldberg was allegedly the View host who pushed the hardest for changes to be made with Meghan McCain, which is arguably surprising in some ways, given their seemingly close relationship over the years. Not to mention the fact that Goldberg isn't the most hot-headed member of the squad. While she apparently didn't directly try to get McCain booted, here's how she reportedly approached the stressful situation.

Sources alleged the former production team on The View had Meghan McCain’s back before things changed over for Season 24. But of all the co-hosts, Meghan McCain reportedly had the rockiest relationship with fellow panelist Sunny Hostin. Sources alleged that McCain didn’t trust Hostin early on as she suspected Hostin “was leaking stories about her.” Things were reportedly getting so bad that the producers at the time told Hostin they would pick McCain over her, which led to further tension between the two for some time before they started talking more and leaning on each other during recent hardships.

Given the past drama on the show in recent months, it seemed to be the right time for Meghan McCain to leave The View for anyone and everyone's benefit. She can now enjoy her off-screen life as a new mom without the spotlight or the constant bickering. But even after she departs The View, I’m sure it won’t be too long before viewers see McCain pop up on their television screen once again.

While news of Meghan McCain's exit is no doubt highly shocking to many viewers and fans, considering heavy rumors only started circulating in the hours ahead of her big announcement, at least everyone can take comfort in knowing she'll still be there for another month to rattle Whoopi Goldberg's nerves and speak her mind on any big moments happening in America (and around the world). While she didn't give an exact date for her final episode, it can be assumed that she'll say farewell at some point during the final week of July.

Fans can probably expect to see a lot of speculation about who will end up replacing Meghan McCain after she officially exits. There is no shortage of guest hosts from over the years who could fill the seat, as well as a decent number of former co-hosts whose exits weren't caused by firings. And it's not certain whether or not they'll first find a permanent host, or if they'll have a revolving door of guests to stop by until something more official is decided.

In the realm of daytime chat shows - or virtually any other kind of television format, really -The View is arguably one of the most contentious shows on TV. The hosts might not be an octagon or wearing gloves, but episodes can get every bit as rivalrous and chaotic as a UFC feud, with the stalwart Joy Behar and resident conservative Meghan McCain regularly getting into heightened tiffs over one political issue or another. Such awkwardness usually creates decent buzz for The View, but it looks like the big boss at ABC News is growing weary of such in-fighting.

ABC News President Kim Godwin, who just landed the job in April 2021, apparently felt like The View's daily squabbles were getting to be a bit much across the board, so she reportedly called an impromptu meeting with The View's on-air talent and the producers. According to TMZ, Godwin was inspired to make the virtual meeting happen after ABC received a bunch of comments and responses after Monday's episode, with many of them calling for Meghan McCain to be fired for her latest behavior.

It's said that Kim Godwin told The View's commentators that their debates have become far too personal in recent months, with co-hosts attacking each other personally rather than sticking mainly to the topics at hand. As well, Godwin allegedly stated that she is not content with the direction of the show veering off into places that could be deemed as toxic by the show's viewership. Which is a pretty important element here, considering The View's audience has seen some upticks this year as the world slowly shifts out of pandemic-lockdown mode. But are more people tuning in because of the in-fighting?

It might not even matter to Kim Godwin if she definitively wants to put a stop to The View's politically inflamed conversations. It's not like the show was failing before it became such a pillar for mid-morning verbal spats. Granted, the stars do get along sometimes behind the scenes, or at least they're decent about acting like it, so it's possible this talk with ABC News' boss could be the light that guides The View to more evened-out conversations and debates with its revolving door of co-hosts.

For those who aren't aware of the backstory, the Monday, May 24 broadcast featured The View's co-hosts getting particularly riled up during a discussion surrounding anti-Semitic remarks made by controversial Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green. Now, viewers can probably assume Whoopi Goldberg knew exactly what she was doing when she asked her fellow panelists to share their thoughts, and Meghan McCain certainly didn't disappoint in that respect. She clapped back at Sunny Hostin's comments and then went off to the point where Goldberg cut her short to jump into a commercial break, which understandably didn't sit well with McCain, who later got into it even more with Joy Behar.

Will ABC News' Kim Godwin be able to completely eradicate The View's most hectic moments? Only time will tell, so tune into the talk show every morning on ABC to see what'll happen next.

One of the reasons people tune in for The View is that the long-running talk show features hosts with strong, differing opinions. Spirited debate is just a natural part of The View at this point, and it likely won’t be going away, especially when it comes to Joy Behar and Meghan McCain. We’ll see if anything else flairs up between the two during the remainder of McCain’s first week back at work.

There’s a lot of uncertainty in the world right now, but one thing viewers can feel confident in is knowing that Joy Behar won’t be leaving The View anytime soon. Earlier this week, a report noted that Behar's contract would be up in a couple of years, reportedly indicating that she would exit the show in 2022 and retire. However, in a recent episode of The View, Behar addressed the speculation, denying the retirement rumors. Plot twist!

In the pages of Ramin Setoodeh’s book, “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of ‘The View’,” Joy Behar was quoted saying that she had a three-year contract and that she doesn’t see herself staying past the contract’s expiration date. In a clip from the latest episode of The View, co-host Whoopi Goldberg brought up the topic of Behar possibly leaving the show and Behar quickly set the record straight, refuting the allegations, and joking that the “rumors of my retirement have been greatly exaggerated.” Here’s what she had to say about her alleged retirement:

That’s a relief for fans of The View. However, while it’s important to note that Joy Behar did say that she would “probably be here” if she was still fabulous in two years, the full quote per Variety was, “But the chances of that happening… You know, time marches on. In the clip, Whoopi Goldberg likened Joy Behar leaving the series as “breaking up the band,” to which Behar gently reminded her that the “band” had indeed broken up many times before. That’s true. Earlier this year, Abby Huntsman bid adieu to the series. Her departure was rather abrupt, but Huntsman was quick to assure viewers that it wasn’t due to any behind the scenes quibbles with any of her co-hosts.

Years prior, Elisabeth Hasselbeck was fired from the show and she finally opened up about her emotional departure in 2019. So, if Behar ever does decide to leave The View, then it wouldn’t be the first time a co-host departed the series and likely won’t be the last. For now, however, Behar seems fine where she is.

Behar has revealed that her contract is up in 2022 as part of the paperback edition of Variety’s Ramin Setoodeh’s “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of ‘The View.’” The same book that detailed Rosie O’Donnell’s heated feud with the talk show’s director.

Joy Behar has reportedly floated 2022 as the year she potentially exits. That window could mean the popular host leaving within the next two years. Behar had previously said that if The View lacked good chemistry, it would go off the air. Without Behar around, the dynamic at the table would undoubtedly change drastically.

The View is no stranger to dealing with a shake-up when it comes to its core cast. The chatfest has said goodbye to Abby Huntsman, among others, during its considerable run. Last year, Elisabeth Hasselbeck revealed that she had been fired from the show. Joy Behar’s potential exit sounds a lot more amicable.

Before you get too upset, an ABC spokesman did attempt to clarify Joy Behar’s comment. The network pointed out that Behar had said that if she is “as fabulous in 2022,” as she is now, she will stay on The View. Not to split hairs, but she actually said, “I’ll think about” it.

Time will tell what Joy Behar decides. This would not be her first exit, and if she leaves in 2022, and eventually decides to come back, it would not be her first return. As it stands, Behar’s fellow co-hosts on The View are Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, and Meghan McCain. While drama has stirred around McCain in the past, she has stayed on board.

If Joy Behar does leave The View in the next two years, the show will have an arduous task filling the void. Fans had to go without Behar for two years after her sixteen-year stint suddenly ended. In total, Behar has been on The View for 21 years. That is a long time!

Joy Behar, fighting between co-hosts, and behind-the-scenes drama are just some of the things synonymous with The View. It would be a huge adjustment to have the chatfest without Behar. She is the only current panelist to be an original cast member. At least, The View has the potential of a two-year heads up to consider before the producers are faced with how to move forward without Behar.

Meghan McCain is still not used to being booed on The View. She's brushed it off on air before, but she got more candid in a recent interview with co-host Joy Behar.

Meghan McCain, daughter of the late U.S. Senator and presidential candidate John McCain, is a former Fox News show co-host and one of The View's few Republican voices. The View audience does love to applaud or boo depending on what the co-hosts say, and McCain has been on the receiving end of some boos since she joined the show in 2017.

No one gets on The View for being a shrinking violet, so Meghan McCain knew going in she'd probably be clashing with the left-leaning co-hosts, and also probably get on the audience's nerves sometimes too. She has been pretty blasé about it in the past, like when she was booed for saying Trump will probably be re-elected:

As Meghan McCain noted, she is a Republican who is not a fan of President Donald Trump, for a lot of his actions and the way Trump has spoken about her father. She clashed with Donald Trump Jr. about that on a recent episode:

So Meghan McCain is in a tough spot -- booed by the left and also booed by Trump supporters on the right. Maybe that's why she was reportedly feeling like a "caged animal," when rumors spread that she might want to leave The View. However, McCain made it clear she has nothing but love for her co-host Joy Behar, even though they clash over views on TV. During ET's interview, she told Behar it hurts her feelings when she reads reports that they don't get along:

Joy Behar -- who just talked about when the show could end -- said she and Meghan McCain both mean what they say, it's not an act when they get into it, but she also said she thought they were becoming less adamant about their positions.

So, we can probably expect The View to live on for quite some time.

The current season of The View sees Behar and McCain co-host alongside Whoopi Goldberg (cool new dreds included), Abby Huntsman and Sunny Hostin, but even though McCain has been known to get into very heated discussion on live television with her co-hosts (especially Behar and Goldberg), the five women do seem to have a great rapport that helps to keep audiences tuning in every day.

Because of her status as one of the original hosts of The View, and also the host who's had the longest time on the panel in general, Joy Behar knows a lot about how the chemistry among the hosts changes when new panelists are introduced. She's worked alongside all but three former hosts, and has seen the show weather many controversies and behind the scenes challenges.

Bringing new hosts onto the panel is what Behar is talking about when she notes that the producers call it a "franchise." And, I'd say that, because the co-hosts have always managed to get into deep discussions no matter the topic, that both Behar and the producers have the right take on the situation. It has definitely been beneficial whenever the panel has had great chemistry, but the show can clearly survive as hosts come and go.

Of all the daytime talk shows on the air right, it's probably safe to say that The View has the most in common with a tea kettle full of combustible liquids. Rarely does a week or two go by without some news story coming out that spotlights the hosts' troubles with one another, whether it's behind the scenes or right there on the air. The turmoil is reportedly teaching a tipping point for Meghan McCain, however, and she may not be sticking around the show much longer.

It's being reported that Meghan McCain is growing increasingly fed up and angry about her position on The View, and she's been "feeling like a caged animal" over being used as by other outlets. If that truly is the case, and McCain can't find a way to reconcile her negative feelings, then fans might hear about her turning down ABC's offer for her to return for Season 23 in the fall.

Granted, the situation hasn't gone that far just yet, but recent reports are making the situation sound like it's just a matter of time, according to the Daily Beast. It's said that the daily process of facing the emotional toll on the show, and on social media, is wearing Meghan McCain down.

Anyone who has ever seen Meghan McCain get into a back-and-forth on The View is likely well aware of just how strong-willed and determined the host can be when her mind is set on something. To the point where she'll get into increasingly hostility-lite debts with her fellow co-hosts such as Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin. Only to often turn around and get slammed by viewers and fans on social media.

One of the issues said to be plaguing Meghan McCain is the lack of knowledge over who is responsible for all of the leaked information regarding the behind-the-scenes issues. It has reportedly caused McCain to grow distrustful of many of her View coworkers, which in turn adds to the daily work stress.

The show itself has put a statement out as a brief response to these reports, according to TVLine, which reads as follows:

Obviously that's the instinctive response for producers to have, though it perhaps speaks to the potential seriousness of the situation that an official statement was made public so quickly.

The View's senior executive producer Hilary Estey McLoughlin says that things aren't nearly as hectic as they're made out to be in the tabloids, and that the host's biggest concerns are with getting her viewpoints out there. In McLoughlin's words:

Indeed, as The View's biggest voice for the conservative side of the aisle, Meghan McCain has the biggest uphill climb as far as getting her point across goes. It has led to many tense moments over the past two years of episodes, sometimes with swearing involved. And while that has sometimes resulted in ratings boosts and more attention driven to the show itself, it doesn't sound like McCain would be one to think it's all been worth the struggles.

Hilary Estey McLoughlin doesn't think that anyone involved with the show is responsible for leaking behind-the-scenes stories to the press, largely because she doesn't think any current employees would be willing to risk their career on such a move. And she's not the only one on the show that feels a need to water down some of the rumored problems.

Joy Behar, who was referred to as "bitch" by Meghan McCain during an episode in June, admits that the co-hosts do like to argue and get down to brass tacks, but indicates that on-air strifes aren't wholly indicative of how she and McCain feel about each other. In Behar's words:

Sure, Joy Behar has a reputation to uphold, and she likely doesn't want to spark any unwarranted controversies surrounding her relationships with coworkers. But her point is still quite valid.

The View is a place where viewers go to watch the female hosts hoist their opinions atop everyone else's, so them getting into arguments – even heightened ones – is likely a boom for producers hoping for bigger audiences. Having employees actively hating each other is never a good look, though, so it would definitely be a good thing if Meghan McCain's situation is being blown out of proportion.

Granted, some of The View's past dust-ups did appear to be completely genuine, such as former host Elisabeth Hasselbeck's situation with Barbara Walters. Or the rage that Rosie O'Donnell appeared to have for many people working on the show.

Will fans get to see Meghan McCain returning to ABC's The View for Season 23 in the fall? At this point, it's still up in the air, but if her issues with the other hosts really are more hot air than legitimate, then there's likely no need for anyone to start looking for her replacement.

Kid Rock apologized for his language, but not his sentiment, during a live TV interview today on Fox & Friends. After he called The View co-host Joy Behar a "bitch," both Fox News anchors and ABC's The View hosts addressed the insult.

Kid Rock talked to Fox's Steve Doocy around 7 a.m. Nashville time -- with the singer joking that he was hopped up on coffee and Baileys. During the interview, with a small crowd behind him, Kid Rock talked about bringing Americans together, except for Joy Behar.

Here's how that part of the conversation played out:

The Fox News anchors in the studio said they wanted to be there in Nashville, it seemed like a great time -- then added that they apologize for the language, they don't feel that way about Joy Behar.

A few hours later, The View started with discussion of Kid Rock's comments. The View co-host Sunny Hostin opened the Friday show by replaying Kid Rock's clip. She said if you come for one of them, you come for all of them. But Joy Behar looked into the camera and made her own response to Kid Rock:

The View co-hosts then briefly discussed what Kid Rock said. Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Abby Huntsman recently joined The View panel and said she approved of how the Fox News co-hosts apologized and handled the situation. Former Fox News contributor Meghan McCain said she knows "Bob" -- Kid Rock's real name -- and this was off-tone for him. Joy Behar was just surprised that Fox News apologized for something.

Kid Rock's comments came a day after Joy Behar celebrated her 20th anniversary as co-host of The View. She suggested, in her own semi-joke, that "Today is a good day for Donald Trump to resign. Twenty years for me, that would be my gift. Donald, do it for me." The View crowd cheered for that. On Friday, Meghan McCain suggested maybe Fox News' apology to Behar would be gift enough.

As The Hollywood Reporter noted, Fox News has tried to make it a priority under CEO Suzanne Scott to cut down on guest remarks that are seen as inappropriate -- such as calling Joy Behar a "bitch" on the morning show. Fox News has been top of the cable ratings for 29 months now, averaging 1.5 million viewers in total day. The View ended its 2017-2018 season with an average of 2.9 million viewers, which was the most since Barbara Walters left the show.

When The View returns to ABC for it’s 19th season, the popular morning talk show will be bringing along a mixture of familiar faces and new additions. Headlining this incoming crew is Joy Behar, who, it was just confirmed, will return to her old stomping grounds as one of the co-hosts.

Deadline reports that Behar, who left the show after hosting Seasons 1 through 16, will indeed come back to her old gig, and she’s not alone. In addition to Behar, Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris will also join the party as co-hosts. This is in addition to Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symone, and Michelle Collins, so yes, there will be six co-hosts.

Behar, who rose to prominence as a stand up comedian, originally appeared on the Barbara Walters-created The View on days when the legendary reporter was off, but eventually became a permanent co-host. She admitted that, especially with Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump in the current presidential race, she’s excited to interject her opinion.

Candace Cameron Bure was the star of ABC’s beloved family sitcom Full House, playing oldest daughter DJ Tanner, a role she’s reprising in the upcoming Netflix spinoff Fuller House. Last year, she was also seen on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

The host of the weekend edition of Good Morning America, Paula Faris has a background as a news correspondent and as the anchor of programs like World News Now and America This Morning on ABC.

In addition to the co-hosts for Season 19 of The View, ABC News made it official that Sherri Shepherd will return the lead contributor for the upcoming episodes. She’ll be joined by Top Chef host and actress Padma Lakshmi, model and actress Molly Sims, and Ana Navarro, a GOP strategist and frequent guest on a variety of news programs.

There have been reports that The View was going to return to a five-host format this season, and though there are in fact six of them, there will reportedly only be five on the show at any given time. This will allow them the flexibility to pursue other projects and commitments at the same time without causing a huge speed bump for the show.

With all of the hosts and contributors finally locked into place, ABC hopes that this new line up will bring some consistency to the show, both creatively and ratings wise, which has been all over the board in recent seasons.

The View has actually only gone through ten co-hosts since ABC’s morning program began airing in 1997. That’s some fairly decent consistency from year end and year out, but unfortunately, that will all be changing very soon. On Thursday, Joy Behar announced she was leaving the daytime talk show and on Friday, rumors began circulating that Elisabeth Hasselbeck will be leaving the program, as well.

Behar’s not leaving The View anytime soon. Instead, the co-host’s contract ends in August and Behar has simply decided not to renew it. According to Deadline, the careerwoman has some other plans in the cards, potentially even including a solo interview show. It’s hard to blame her for wanting to give different sorts of programming a shot, especially since she’s been hosting The View for more than 16 years. However, she will be missed. Interestingly, when Behar does eventually leave The View next fall, Barbara Walters will be the last remaining original host on the program, and that’s if Walters decides to stick around.

On Friday, rumors began to abound that Hasselbeck, who has co-hosted the program for nine years, will also be leaving ABC’s show. US Weekly first reported the news, although ABC is currently denying the charge, stating Hasselbeck is under a long-term contract. If this rumor pans out as well, losing two hosts in one short frame of time might mean big changes for The View. One thing is for certain: it should be hard for anyone to fill Behar and Hasselbeck’s shoes.
