Save the Last Dance was one of the best dance movies out there. Not only because it’s one of Julia Stiles’ best films, but also for bridging the cultural gaps between two styles of dancing. But close to 25 years later, the internet has been throwing shade at Stiles’ dance moves from the movie. And one of its stars, Kerry Washington, has something to say about it.

You may remember Kerry Washington’s character Chenille, who befriends new girl Sara and introduces her to the world of hip-hop. When talking about the underrated weekend box office hit on Radio Andy, host Andy Cohen mentioned that “Julia Stiles is not the greatest dancer on the planet.” The Scandal actress responded with laughter and an intriguing question:

As reported by Complex, social media sites like TikTok and X have repeatedly memed the final dance in the movie. This was when Julia Stiles’ Sara had an important audition for Juilliard that involved a graceful ballet dance that morphed into the rhythmic hip-hop dance moves she learned from her new friends. But plenty of influencers have posted videos that mockingly recreated the dance routine, with many in disbelief that the particular routine would have been accepted into Juilliard.

Like Cohen said, dance has changed a lot over the past decade. Maybe the dance routine would have been choreographed differently if the movie were made today. But Kerry Washington made sure to give esteemed praise to Save the Last Dance’s choreographer and her intentions in coming up with the final dance number:

Fatima Robinson truly is a “legend” for coming up with era-defining dance moves for a lot of high-profile artists like Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, The Backstreet Boys, and more. Other than Save the Last Dance, Robinson also choreographed for hit movies like Dreamgirls and The Cheetah Girls: One World. So it’s possible that the American music video director was simply putting together a dance that would combine the delicate moves of ballet with hip-hop moves that were reminiscent of the Y2K generation.

It would be easy for millennials to blame the dance flick’s choreographer for putting together a meme-worthy dance to be mocked decades later. Kerry Washington, however, was not having it and continued to defend Fatima:

A dance that was once a hit in one era can indeed be laughed at in the next. We could watch Saturday Night Fever, one of the best movies of the ‘70s, and cringe at John Travolta’s disco club moves. The same can be said for Grease, watching everyone get wild doing the '50s “hand jive.” Every generation has something that was once considered cool and that is seen as outdated later. But all styles of dance can still be celebrated for defining an era.

Internet users aren’t the only ones who’ve made fun of the final dance scene. On season 49 of SNL, Chloe Fineman spoofed the iconic dance sequence, looking like Sara, as “the perfect gift this season.” And who should finish off the ballet/hip-hop routine but a surprise cameo of Julia Stiles herself?! It was the perfect way to laugh at the ‘00s movie’s quirks while still celebrating its legacy.

Stiles also said on Elizabeth Day’s podcast that she felt “self-conscious” joining a dance class in fear of being judged for her dancing in Save the Last Dance. Although she made sure to point out that she’d love to “get over that” and get back to formal dance classes…or at least a private dance instruction.

The internet may be throwing shade today at Julia Stiles’ Save the Last Dance choreography, but at least none of it is coming from Kerry Washington. That particular dance routine may not have been Juilliard material in real life. It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years since one of the best Shakespeare-adapted movies, 10 Things I Hate About You, graced us with its theatrical presence. But, of course, it’s hard to think about that rom-com without the stellar performance of late actor Heath Ledger. The film’s female lead, Julia Stiles, hasn't forgotten either as she reflects on what it was like when she worked with the beloved performer.

In 10 Things I Hate About You, popular sophomore student Bianca isn’t allowed to date until her outcast older sister, Kat (played by Julia Stiles), does. This leads to “bad boy” Patrick (played by Heath Ledger) getting paid to date Kat. Years after the Save the Last Dance actress worked with Ledger, she spoke kind words about the late actor on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Prepare to be touched by her heartwarming tribute to him:

I can imagine how heartbreaking it must have been when she heard about Heath Ledger’s passing. Considering the lovable chemistry the two shared in one of the best enemies-turned-lovers films, it’s clear their connection left a lasting impact on her. After his fatal accidental drug overdose in 2008, Ledger was an example of a beloved actor who, unfortunately, never made it to 40. It was an incredible loss in the entertainment industry as this actor could have been on the verge of a career surge after his Dark Knight performance.

However, the Brokeback Mountain star was remembered as a phenomenal actor with many stories to prove what a talent he was. For instance, Heath Ledger took a career hiatus for a year after 10 Things I Hate About You to avoid being typecast with similar characters to Patrick. Instead, he wanted to play more diverse roles. It was certainly a bold choice for the talented actor to make as his career took him across various roles like Bob Dylan, 14th-century peasant William Thatcher, and his transformative portrayal of The Joker where he won a posthumous Oscar for The Dark Knight. If Ledger were still alive today, I’d like to believe he’d continue impressing audiences with more groundbreaking roles that showcased his incredible range.

Julia Stiles isn’t the only cast member from 10 Things I Hate About You to remember The Patriot actor. A few years ago, Joseph Gordon-Levitt shared a cast throwback photo as the box-office hit approached its 20th anniversary. Director of the teen comedy flick, Gil Junger, reflected on what “an old soul” Ledger was and how “crushed” he felt when he found out he died. It’s proof that the Lords of Dogtown actor will be missed by all of those who were lucky enough to know and work with him.

Hearing Julia Stiles talk about Heath Ledger bringing “energy and passion” when he came into a room is a true reminder of what made him so unforgettable. The Oscar winner truly gave it his all in every performance and I’m sure his former co-stars will continue to keep his memory alive. Leonardo DiCaprio (Season 39)

In Jonah Hill’s third SNL monologue, the Academy Award nominee is bombarded by questions about working with Leonardo DiCaprio before trying to convince the audience that the future Oscar winner was not even supposed to be in The Wolf of Wall Street initially. Just then, the Titanic cast member himself walks on to knock some sense into his co-star before agreeing to recreate the famous “We’re flying!” scene from the Best Picture Oscar winner. 

Barack Obama (Season 33)

In the cold open for SNL’s 2007 Halloween show, a spooky party hosted by Bill (Darrell Hammond) and Hilary Clinton (Amy Poehler) is crashed by an unexpected guest in a Barack Obama mask. The stranger removes the rubber face to reveal he is actually the future 44th President of the United States in the flesh.

Barbra Streisand (Season 17)

A recurring topic in Mike Myers’ “Coffee Talk” sketches was Linda Richman’s obsession with Barbra Streisand, who shocked the host and her guests (played by Madonna and Roseanne Barr) by briefly walking on the set to greet them in one sketch. According to Barbra Archives, Myers had been informed that the Oscar-winning Funny Girl star might show up, but Madonna and Barr’s shocked reactions were completely genuine.

Robert De Niro (Season 26)

Academy Award winner Robert De Niro never hosted SNL until 2002, but made multiple surprise appearances beforehand, such as the time he showed up on “Weekend Update.” The cameo was in response to Jimmy Fallon’s unfavorable review of 2000’s Meet the Parents, which Fallon tries to defend with his impersonation of the acting legend, who turns the tables by imitating him at the end.

Kel Mitchell (Season 48)

A pre-taped segment imagines a reboot of the classic Nickelodeon comedy, Kenan & Kel, but with host Keke Palmer as a new character named Kelly. However, the bit ends wonderfully with an appearance of Kenan Thompson’s original co-star, Kel Mitchell, who actually auditioned for SNL once before, to no avail

Judge Judy (Season 24)

Cheri Oteri made an impact on SNL in a short time with memorable characters and hilarious impersonations — especially that of Judge Judy. However, the honorable TV personality herself proved that no one “rules” like the original when she interrupted one of Oteri’s parodies of her court show.

Sarah Paulson (Season 48)

In a sketch poking fun at his internet persona, host Pedro Pascal plays a teacher whose students have made viral videos honoring him as a surrogate “daddy” and another teacher name Ms. Jenny as “mommy.” Entering the room to the crowd’s surprise as Ms. Jenny is the Last of Us cast member’s good friend, Emmy winner Sarah Paulson.

Taylor Swift (Season 49)

Even after her boyfriend — one of the funniest pro athletes to host SNL, Travis Kelce — made a surprise appearance in the same episode (hosted by Pete Davidson), no one anticipated Taylor Swift would show up in the Season 48 opener to introduce musical guest Ice Spice’s second performance. Reportedly, neither of these cameos were planned and were put together last minute when the Grammy-winning superstar and Kansas City Chiefs tight end happened to show up at 30 Rock.

Jason Momoa (Season 45)

In a courtroom-style sketch starring Chance the Rapper as a judge who rules purely by first impressions, one of the defendants is played by Jason Momoa, who already has the host in stitches with his ridiculous wardrobe. However, the Aquaman actor suddenly cannot stop laughing after accidentally referring to himself as a “paraplegic,” when he meant to say “paralegal.”

Eminem (Season 46)

Pete Davidson plays a young man named Stu who writes a series of increasingly erratic letters asking Santa Claus (Jason Bateman) for a PlayStation 5 in this holiday parody of “Stan” by Eminem. As we learn at the end of the bit (which original video star Devon Sawa loved), the Real Slim Shady is the one who ended up getting the PS5 under his tree.

The Property Brothers And Tony Hawk (Season 48)

Kenan Thompson plays the host of an international beauty pageant that is close to going off the rails when he makes note of the random selection of Property Brothers’ Drew and Jonathan Scott and Tony Hawk as the judges before introducing them. Much to the surprise of Thompson’s character (and the audience), the twin renovation reality show stars and the pro skateboarder are appearing as themselves.

Jeff Probst (Season 48)

At first, the only joke this wedding-set sketch has going for it is the repeated utterance of the word “Joker," in reference to the best man’s choice of Halloween costume, modeled after Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. What transcends the SNL sketch from terrible to amazing is when Survivor host Jeff Probst shows up to announce if the guests voted in favor of the best man (Andrew Dismukes) keeping on his makeup or in favor of the bride (Heidi Gardner), who thinks his costume has ruined the ceremony.

Conan O'Brien (Season 47) 

When John Mulaney’s induction into SNL’s Five-Timers Club doesn’t seem to be going well, with veterans like Steve Martin and Candice Bergen believing he doesn’t fit the quality standards, coming to his aid is none other than Conan O’Brien. The beloved late-night host-turned-podcaster’s surprise appearance was not only special because he starred in the first Five-Timers Club sketch while working as a writer, but because he previously severed ties with NBC after 2010’s embarrassing Tonight Show debacle.

The Hunger Games Cast (Season 40) 

After starting his third SNL monologue with a song about the year 1989 modeled after Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” Woody Harrelson is suddenly joined by his Hunger Games movies co-stars Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. When Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence shows up, Harrelson initially mistakes her for “the real Taylor Swift.”

Eugene Levy (Season 46) 

Host Dan Levy offers a glimpse of what Studio 8H looks like backstage in a post-Covid environment. During the tour, he is shocked to learn his father and fellow Schitt’s Creek cast member, Eugene Levy, flew from L.A. to New York to support him, but pandemic protocols have forced the comedian to watch the show from a clear, protective case.

Matt Damon (Season 44)

Matt Damon is the face behind many of the most amazing celebrity cameos in movies, but the Oscar-winning writer and star of Good Will Hunting has worked his magic on the small screen as well. For instance: his surprise appearance on SNL as Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in a hilarious cold open recreating his senate hearing.

Julia Stiles (Season 49)

On “Weekend Update,” Chloe Fineman demonstrates her most romantic holiday gift idea: recreating the balletic performance from the end of one of the best dance movies, Save the Last Dance. Fineman and the crowd are suddenly starstruck when the film’s star, Julia Stiles, shows up to help bring the tribute to a grand finale.

Arnold Schwarzenegger (Season 14)

When an overly excited Danny DeVito interrupts his monologue and requests to re-do the show’s opening, he asks his good friend and Twins co-star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, to launch things with the famous catchphrase while he is sitting in the audience. The Terminator movies star would show up in the episode again to pay a visit to his cousins, Hans (Dana Carvey) and Franz (Kevin Nealon).

Bryan Cranston (Season 42) 

In a funny cold open, CNN reporter Jake Tapper announces that then-President Donald Trump has selected a new head of the DEA. The person in question is former high school chemistry teacher Walter White, played by former Breaking Bad cast member Bryan Cranston reprising his legendary, multi-Emmy-winning role.

Paul McCartney (Season 32) 

This sketch is already crawling with amazing cameos when Alec Baldwin, in the Platinum Lounge at SNL’s Five-Timers Club, runs into Martin Short (working as a server) and Steve Martin, who attempts to murder his It’s Complicated co-star under the impression he is tying his hosting record. However, the biggest surprise comes when Paul McCartney walks in, whom Martin initially mistakes for fellow club member, Paul Simon. 

Melissa McCarthy (Season 42)

One of SNL’s all-time best hosts, Melissa McCarthy, showed up to play then-White House press secretary Sean Spicer during an episode hosted by Kristen Stewart. While then-President Donald Trump did not care for the sketch, Spicer did not seem bothered by the impersonation (save McCarthy’s amount of gum chewing), and the big became one of SNL’s most popular YouTube clips, later inspiring the Oscar nominee to reprise the role once more.

The Office Cast (Season 44)

When an audience member interrupts Steve Carell’s third SNL monologue to ask if an Office reboot is in the works, he initially says the beloved NBC sitcom might be best left alone. However, fellow Office cast members Ellie Kemper, Ed Helms, and Jenna Fischer pop in to convince him otherwise.

Barry Gibb (Season 39)

Arguably Jimmy Fallon’s single funniest SNL sketch is “The Barry Gibb Talk Show,” in which he and Justin Timberlake, as Bee Gees members Barry and Robin Gibb, discuss pressing topics with public figures. One of the later editions featured Madonna appearing as herself, but when the real Barry Gibb shows up at the very end is an all-time classic moment.

Larry David (Season 41)

While he never was an SNL cast member (but did perform sketch comedy on Fridays), Larry David had a brief stint at Studio 8H as a writer years before returning to the show in a legendary way. In a cold open recreating the 2016 Election’s Democratic presidential debate, the Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm creator drove the crowd crazy with his first of many appearances as Bernie Sanders, who, it turns out, is a distant cousin of the comedian, as they would later discover (per Time). 

Brad Pitt (Season 24)

Brad Pitt is, surprisingly, one of many celebrities who have never hosted SNL, but he has popped in on the show a couple of times. The first time was in a cold open for an episode hosted by David Spade, as the Tommy Boy actor’s therapist, for some reason.

Alex Trebek (Season 27)

One of SNL’s best “Celebrity Jeopardy!” sketches comes from Will Ferrell’s final episode as a cast member, particularly for the surprise guest at the very end. After Ferrell’s Alex Trebek announces the “Final Jeopardy!,” the real, late Alex Trebek appears to bid his impersonate adieu.

James Gandolfini (Season 30)

When reporting on then-New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey’s scandal on “Weekend Update,” Amy Poehler and Tina Fey introduce a native to New York’s neighboring state to comment on the topic. The guest turns out to be played by the late James Gandolfini of the Sopranos cast fame, whose commentary turns out to be filled with stereotypes at the expense of his own community and others.

Chris Rock (Season 42)

A highlight of Dave Chappelle’s Emmy-winning debut hosting gig was the appearance of his friend and collaborator, Chris Rock. The ‘90s SNL icon shows up in a sketch set on the night of the 2016 Presidential Election to bond with Chappelle’s character over their anticipation of the inevitable results.

Jake Gyllenhaal (Season 45)

One of the most dazzling cameos in one of John Mulaney’s best comedy specials, John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch, was Jake Gyllenhaal as Mr. Music. The Academy Award nominee later reunited with the beloved comedian in one of Mulaney’s best musical SNL sketches as a pajama-clad traveler at LaGuardia Airport.

Janet Reno (Season 26)

Before Jane Lynch played Janet Reno in a true crime series, she was portrayed by Will Ferrell on SNL for years in “Janet Reno’s  Dance Party.” The final edition of the hard-partying sketch, amid the end of Reno’s sting as U.S. Attorney General, went out with a bang when the real Reno crashed through the wall to greet her doppelganger.

Mick Jagger (Season 49)

Musician and actor Bad Bunny’s SNL hosting debut was pretty cameo-heavy, including appearances by Pedro Pascal, former cast member Fred Armisen, and Lady Gaga. However, it was Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger who brought the house down with his bewildering parts in two sketches — first as a telenovela actor and later as a man posing as a nun.

Mark Zuckerberg (Season 36)

Host Jesse Eisenberg’s monologue is interrupted by Andy Samberg’s impersonation of Mark Zuckerberg, whom Eisenberg portrayed to Academy Award-nominated acclaim in the Social Network cast in 2010. Little do they know that the real Facebook founder is backstage, but goes against Lorne Michaels’ suggestions and joins Eisenberg onstage for an “awkberg” first meeting.

Sometimes what makes SNL really fun is waiting to see which celebrities might show up for a surprise appearance this time.

In 2009, audiences around the world were introduced to Orphan, a gripping psychological thriller with an all-time great twist ending that still has people talking nearly a decade-and-a-half later. The movie, which centers on the mysterious Esther — a girl who isn’t exactly who she claims to be — as she moves in with a new family, was recently given its own prequel called Orphan: First Kill, which details an earlier chapter in the deranged figure’s life, and it’s currently streaming and in theaters.

If you recently watched the movie on the big screen or with your Paramount+ subscription, you might be wondering where you’ve seen the Orphan: First Kill cast before. Well, wonder no longer, as we are about to break down the cast and some of their most prominent roles, starting with the star of the new movie: Isabelle Fuhrman. 

Isabelle Fuhrman (Esther Albright/Leena Klammer)

Returning as a younger yet equally unsettling version of the Esther character (whose real name is actually Leena Klammer) in Orphan: First Kill is Isabelle Fuhrman, who manages to look just as young as she did 13 years ago when she first played the murderous orphan.

Since becoming an overnight sensation in Orphan all those years ago, Fuhrman has continued to find success in show business with appearances in movies like The Hunger Games, Cell, Good Girls Get High, and a series of short films. During that same stretch of time, Fuhrman has landed roles on a list of TV shows that includes The Whole Truth, Adventure Time, and Masters of Sex, where she appeared on a total of eight episodes as the recurring character, Tessa Johnson.

Julia Stiles (Tricia Albright)

Esther spent her time terrorizing Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John Coleman (Peter Sarsgaard) in Orphan, but she has her sights set on a different family this time around. Leading the new family is Julia Stiles, who takes on the role of Tricia Albright, an upset mother desperately trying to find her missing daughter.

Probably the most well-known member of the Orphan: First Kill cast, Stiles has been a permanent fixture on the silver screen and small screen for more than a quarter-century at this point. The list of Stiles’ best movies and TV shows is an absolutely astounding collection of timeless classics like 10 Things I Hate About You, Save the Last Dance, Silver Linings Playbook, and so much more. From horror movies like The Omen to spy thriller franchises like the Bourne movies, there’s not much she can’t do.

Rossif Sutherland (Allen Albright)

Playing opposite Julia Stiles as her husband, Allen Albright, in the Orphan: First Kill cast is Rossif Sutherland, the son of Golden Globe winner Donald Sutherland and half-brother of 24 star, Kiefer Sutherland. 

Prior to landing the role of the real Esther Albright’s father, Sutherland followed in his father’s footsteps by appearing in a large variety of film and TV productions. His list of movie appearances includes everything from the Michael Crichton adaptation Timeline to Edge of Winter, and High Life to A Call to Spy. Sutherland has also found success on the small screen on shows like ER, Monk, Reign, Haven, and The Expanse, to name just a few. 

Matthew Finlan (Gunnar Albright)

Taking on the role of role of Tricia and Allen’s older son, Gunnar Albright, in the Orphan: First Kill cast is Matthew Finlan, who has had quite a busy few years since breaking out as a professional actor not that long ago.

Since arriving on the scene in the 2018 short film, Tiny House, Finlan has gone on to show up in a variety of series like October Faction, Frankie Drake Mysteries, Nurses, and the Netflix comedy series, Workin’ Moms. He’s even appeared on beloved mystery shows like the Canadian series, Murdoch Mysteries, on which he portrayed Charlie Chaplin in a one-off episode. His film work has picked up a considerable amount in recent years, with roles in movies like Brazen and My Fake Boyfriend, with more on the way.

Hiro Kanagawa (Inspector Donnan)

Not all of the characters featured in the Orphan: First Kill cast are related to the young girl Esther’s claiming to be. One of the more prominent figures in the new horror movie is the tireless Inspector Donnan, Hiro Kanagawa’s character who attempts to get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding the disappearance and reappearance of Esther.

To say that Kanagawa has an extensive filmography would be an incredible understatement, as the talented film, TV, and voice actor has given dozens upon dozens of performances throughout his career. There’s a good chance you’ve seen the versatile actor in movies like The Day the Earth Stood Still, Girlfriend Experience, Godzilla, The Age of Adaline (which became a fixture of the Netflix Top 10 in August 2022), Crisis, and Every Breath You Take. But, his TV work is where the actor’s talents truly shine. Shows like Smallville, Dark Matter, The Man in the High Castle, Upload, and Star Trek: Discovery have all featured Kanagawa in some capacity over the years.

Samantha Walkes (Dr. Sager)

Rounding out the main portion of the Orphan: First Kill cast is Samantha Walkes, who takes on the role of Dr. Sager, the family psychiatrist who isn’t totally convinced that the Esther who left is the one who has now returned to the Albright family.

Walkes makes her feature film debut with her performance in Orphan: First Kill, but this isn’t the actress’ first overall credit. Over the course of the past few years, Walkes has landed roles on shows like the CBS medical drama series Good Sam, The Kings of Napa, and Murdoch Mysteries, on which she has appeared on multiple episodes as Cassiopeia Bright.

It’s been 13 years since Isabelle Fuhrman first sent audiences spinning with that wild twist in Orphan, so it’s no wonder we were all surprised to hear that the actress would be reprising the role in the prequel, Orphan: First Kill. Curiosity over how they’re going to pull that off, on top of Orphan: First Kill’s fiery first trailer, has really built up some excitement for this follow-up to the cult classic 2009 movie. Orphan: First Kill takes place before the events of the original movie, obviously, after Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman) breaks out of an Estonian asylum, steals the identity of a young girl, and is adopted by Tricia (Julia Stiles) and Allen (Rossif Sutherland). It’s safe to say they have no idea what they’re in for, but let’s let the critics tell us what we the viewers can expect, starting with the CinemaBlend review of Orphan: First Kill. Eric Eisenberg rates the film 2.5 stars out of 5, saying the prequel takes too long to get past repetition of the first movie, but still delivers another huge twist. He says: 

Lena Wilson of The Wrap enjoys the way this prequel leans into the campy aspect of the original’s tone. It’s impossible to take such an absurd story seriously, and Orphan: First Kill plays that perfectly. This one is begging to be viewed in a rowdy theater or with a group at a sleepover, the critic says:

Vanessa Maki of The Mary Sue agrees with the above assessment, calling Orphan: First Kill a “campy, bloody delight.” While viewers may wonder if knowing the original movie’s twist ending will ruin the fun, this critic says not to worry, because it finds ways to keep the story fresh: 

Jared Mobarak of The Film Stage, however, gives the film a dismal D+, and while acknowledging the efforts of the director for the hoops he jumped through to make Isabelle Fuhrman still look like a child, the effort was distracting in this “inconsequential, wonky” prequel. From the review:

Matt Donato of IGN rates the movie a “Good” 7 out of 10, saying the prequel justifies its existence by defying the expectations of what rules prequels must follow. The critic says:

From romances to dramas to comedies, Julia Stiles is one of those names that I am sure you have heard of once or twice. From starring in some iconic teen rom-coms to appearing in Emmy-winning shows, Stiles has continued to show just how versatile she is as an actress.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

One of the first movies Julia Stiles was ever in was 10 Things I Hate About You. This iconic rom-com starring Stiles and Heath Ledger tells the story of two sisters, where one is forbidden from dating until the older gets her own boyfriend. This, in turn, leads to a scheme in order to win the older sister’s heart so that the younger can be free to date. 

Based off Shakespeare's comedy, The Taming of the Shrew, there’s a reason as to why everyone often remember Julia Stiles from 10 Things I Hate About You. While the 10 Things I Hate About You cast is wonderfully talented in many ways, including the late Heath Ledger, there’s just something about Julia Stiles in this film that makes me want to re-watch. She’s so good as Kat, and I wish I could see her in a remake or a reboot of the film now.

Save The Last Dance (2001)

This iconic dance film follows the story of Sara, a girl who had big dreams of getting into Julliard but after a failed audition and the death of her mother, she ends up moving away from that altogether. Now, living in Chicago, she starts a whole new life and her passion for dance is renewed - through hip hop. 

Save the Last Dance is a great dance movie, but Julia Stiles in the lead is really what makes it so great. I love dance movies and always adore the idea of people breaking down in the middle of a busy street for some dance sequence - it’s the main reason I love the Step Up series - but Julia Stiles' acting really makes this dance movie feel so much more realistic and heartwarming than it could have been. She really gave this film her all, and the fun dance moves are perfect.

The Prince And Me (2004)

In this romantic-comedy, The Prince and Me, Julia Stiles stars as Paige, a normal college student who is pre-med. However, her life is turned upside down when she is pursued by a boy, who is actually a prince in disguise. 

I know, that premise sounds goofy as heck, but for fans of early 2000’s rom-coms, this was one of the teen films to watch and it was because of that great chemistry between Julia Stiles and Luke Mably. It may not be a critical favorite, but it’s certainly one of the fan’s favorite films. And, if you just ignore those sequels that Stiles isn’t even in, it’s a good, stand-alone film.

Mona Lisa Smile (2003)

In this drama film, Mona Lisa Smile, we follow Katherine Watson, a graduate student who ends up taking a teaching position at Wellesley College, which at the time was a private liberal arts college just for women. When she discovers that most of her students already have everything memorized, she decides to teach them about modern art and try and change their lives for the better instead of just looking to get married. 

Julia Stiles stars as Joan Brandwyn, one of Katherine’s students who has big dreams of becoming a lawyer. While the rest of the Mona Lisa Smile cast is great, I especially loved Stiles' and Roberts' interactions, as their story was one of the more eye-capturing moments and made you want to root for her students to be successful.

The Omen (2006)

If you’re looking for a horror film with Julia Stiles, check out The Omen. This remake of the original 1976 film of the same name follows an official from America who ends up realizing that his son, after several instances of horror, might be something evil that none of them ever could have imagined - the Devil incarnate. 

While I will always prefer the original The Omen over this, as I am a mega horror movie fan and know it just might be getting a prequel, I can appreciate this film for the acting, mainly from Julia Stiles. I feel that her performance here showed that she should do more horror movies because I genuinely enjoyed her presence and made this remake more fun to watch.

Bourne Film Series (2002 - 2016)

As I mentioned before, Julia Stiles is a versatile actress, which means action is right up her alley, too. For the first three Bourne films - as well as the fifth one - she portrayed Nicky Parsons, a technician for the CIA that is tasked with helping and hunting down Bourne. 

For The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and Jason Bourne, Stiles played this pivotal role, one that truly cemented her as an action actress and showed that she is capable of many different kinds of projects. Her character was so essential to the story that she was actually included in the Universal Jason Bourne attraction, showing how much the fans love Nicky. If you’re looking for a way to see Julia Stiles as a badass, this is it.

Dexter (2010)

Dexter, for eight seasons, was a huge hit for Showtime, telling the story of Dexter Morgan, a seemingly normal man with a dark secret - he’s a serial killer who takes out menaces to society. However, over time his secret starts to get exposed to more and more people, and cracks begin to form in his carefully crafted fake life. 

Julia Stiles, during Season 5, portrayed Lumen Ann Pierce, someone whom Dexter initially was going to kill, but ended up working with - and eventually, formed a romantic relationship with. And damn it, I wanted to see more of her. Julia Stiles was only in Dexter for one season (but it helped change her mind about doing TV) and yet, after binge-watching this show, her character was one of the few side characters I remember so well, because her acting was phenomenal and her chemistry with Michael C. Hall was off the charts. It’s no wonder she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy award for her recurring guest role.

Between Us (2012)

Want to know what happens when two couples who are completely on the rocks and self-destructive reunite for a night in New York? Bad things, that’s what happens, and that’s the premise of Between Us, starring Julia Stiles, Taye Diggs, David Harbour, and Melissa George. 

I love a good drama, and Between Us is one of those where I feel like I’m in the living room of these characters’ homes and watching all this go down in front of me. I really enjoyed Julia Stiles and Taye Diggs together as a couple, but having all four of these actors working alongside each other, in such well-directed scenes, made it all the more entertaining. It’s not one of Stiles’ biggest hits, but I needed to include it, as not enough people know about this movie.

Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

In this Academy Award-winning film, Silver Linings Playbook tells the story of two very broken individuals who become frenemies and decide to help out each other with their respective goals - but over time, as their relationship evolves, they learn they might need to change their intentions if they ever want to see the other again. 

Silver Linings Playbook is an absolutely fantastic film. Not only is it a great representation of mental health issues and how it affects not only the person but the people around them, but the cast is just phenomenal too, including Julia Stiles. While much of the focus of the movie was on Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence (as it should be), Julia Stiles as Veronica, the sister of Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence’s character) was so beautifully portrayed. 

She perfectly captured what it’s like as a family member to be watching someone they love going through something like this, and I personally think that it’s one of her best performances so far. If you haven’t watched this film, please do. You won’t regret it.

Riviera (2017 - 2020)

Next up, we have Riviera, a television series that Julia Stiles starred in for three seasons. This drama tells the story of Georgina, a woman who is living the dream until her billionaire husband is killed in a yachting accident. Suspecting that there’s something else going on, Georgina ends up finding out way more than she bargained for, realizing that her husband’s death may have been a planned murder. 

As mentioned before, I am a huge drama person, and this is one of those shows where I could pop a bag of popcorn and sit down for hours watching this mystery play out on my TV screen. Julia Stiles is so good in her leading role as Georgina, and carries the story incredibly throughout its three seasons. It’s addicting, engrossing, and entertaining in all the right ways.

Hustlers (2019)

Last but not least, we have Hustlers. This dramedy/crime film tells the story of a group of strippers who try to steal money by slipping drugs into the drinks of CEOs and stock traders when they visit their club, and then using all their credit cards. 

Julia Stiles played Elizabeth, a journalist who interviewed each of the strippers about their experience. As one of only a couple of characters in this film who isn’t stripping or scamming people, Elizabeth captivated me, because it felt like she was the one who was telling the story of these women, who all worked together and showed how complicated crime can sometimes be. 

Her part is very interesting and serves a real purpose, and Stiles captured my attention the moment she appeared on the screen. The whole Hustlers cast is freaking talented as hell, but Julia Stiles was the perfect addition.

I’m sure that over the next couple of years, we’ll only get to see more of Julia Stiles and her great acting career, but until then, these are some of her best roles - now, if you don’t mind me, I’m going to go and re-watch all of Dexter again. 

When it comes to the '90s, there are so many iconic movies that I’m sure every single one of you has seen reading this article. But with these iconic movies comes iconic film roles, and these actresses were some of the best in the business. Here are several actresses with some truly iconic film roles in '90s movies. 

Kate Winslet (Titanic)

Considering Titanic was once the biggest film in the world, it’s not surprising the first pick here is Kate Winslet, who played Rose DeWitt Bukater. It’s certainly one of Winslet’s best films so far, and put her on the fast track to become the famous actor she is today.  

Gwyneth Paltrow (Se7en)

While Gwyneth Paltrow known amazingly well now from her variety of film performances, her role of Tracy Mills in Se7en is certainly an iconic one, with her character playing an essential role throughout the story. It wasn’t that long after she would star in Shakespeare in Love and win an Academy Award for her acting. 

Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct)

Yes, this is Sharon Stone from that controversial scene in Basic Instinct. But no one can deny that her performance in this film was great, and she acted her butt off in this erotic thriller. Every single scene she was in, she stole the show.

Jodie Foster (The Silence Of The Lambs)

The '90s were filled to the brim with iconic horror films like The Silence of the Lambs, and was only the third film in history to win the Big Five at the Academy Awards - Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress and Best Actor. Best Actress went to Jodie Foster for her amazing portrayal of Clarice Starling. 

Sandra Bullock (Speed)

While Sandra Bullock is currently busy in 2022 with her film, The Lost City, one of her first big roles ever was starring alongside Keanu Reeves in the action film, Speed, portraying Annie Porter, the main love interest of the film and a total badass. 

Winona Ryder (Edward Scissorhands)

This is definitely one of Winona Ryder’s best movies. Playing Kim Boggs in Edward Scissorhands, Ryder perfectly captured what true kindness is meant to look like, and her love story with Edward is one for the history books that anyone would adore to witness.  

Rachel Leigh Cook (She’s All That)

While the reboot, He’s All That, made plenty of references to the original film, She’s All That just can’t be beaten, and that includes Rachel Leigh Cook’s iconic performance as Laney Boggs. I mean, who could forget that memorable “Kiss Me” scene? It’s the epitome of teen movie makeovers. You have to love it. 

Meryl Streep (The Bridges Of Madison County)

Meryl Streep has been around for many years in the movie industry and has some amazing films under her belt. And while she did plenty of movies in the '90s, my personal favorite performance of hers was in The Bridges of Madison County, where she played Francesca Johnson, a married mother who has a steamy four-day love affair with a photojournalist. Her chemistry with Clint Eastwood is second to none. 

Meg Ryan (Sleepless In Seattle, You’ve Got Mail)

A legendary queen of romantic comedies, you could not stop Meg Ryan in the '90s. Not only was she in two iconic roles in romantic comedies, Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail, both of those films were alongside Tom Hanks and showed just how amazing their chemistry is. 

Demi Moore (Ghost)

That damn pottery scene has been recreated by so many people - I mean, even Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart recreated it! - but no one can quite beat Demi Moore's performance. She shined in her leading role of Molly Jensen alongside Patrick Swayze. I think all of us have wished at least once we were in her shoes. 

Sarah Michelle Gellar (I Know What You Did Last Summer)

While plenty of folks know Sarah Michelle Gellar for her portrayal of Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gellar starred in another horror hit that same year portraying Helen Shivers in I Know What You Did Last Summer, giving a masterclass in chase scenes in horror movies. 

Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act, Ghost)

Whoopi Goldberg is certainly an iconic name that I am sure you’ve heard of plenty of times before, and she had not one but two iconic roles in the '90s. To me, my favorite is her lead role in Sister Act, starring as Deloris Van Cartier and bringing some soul into religion, but I can’t not mention her Academy Award-nominated performance as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost. 

Julia Roberts (Pretty Woman)

It’s one of Julia Roberts' best movies. Pretty Woman has some pretty iconic scenes, but none of them could have been accomplished if not for the charming performance that Roberts delivered as Vivian. I’m pretty sure every time I’ve watched that movie, all I want is to be in that bathtub. That looks so damn nice.

Drew Barrymore (Scream) 

Drew Barrymore was only in the first twelve minutes of the first Scream movie, and yet her scene has become iconic in every sense of the word. You go up to a horror movie fan and ask “do you like scary movies?” and they’ll know exactly what film its from as well as what scene - and Drew Barrymore is the star of it. 

Neve Campbell (Scream)

Even if Drew Barrymore was the star of the first twelve minutes, it was Neve Campbell that became the star of the Scream franchise, reprising her role in every single new film since, showing just how badass she is as the ultimate final girl. 

Reese Witherspoon (Cruel Intentions)

Witherspoon has been in many movies and some great TV shows, but back in the '90s, she was still just starting out, and Cruel Intentions was a breakthrough role for her. She played Annette Hargrove, a young woman who was the target of the two main characters of the film. In this '90s movie, she showed just how talented she is at acting. 

Alicia Silverstone (Clueless)

Ugh, as if! Alicia Silverstone truly stole the screen when she played Cher in Clueless, a story about a teenage girl who ends up befriending a new student and decides to give her a makeover. I mean, those outfits alone are definitely iconic enough for her to be on this list.  

Laura Dern (Jurassic Park)

Raise your hand if you’re excited to see Laura Dern back in Jurassic World: Dominion. *Raises hand* Regardless, Laura Dern in the original Jurassic Park was freaking amazing, and Dr. Ellie Sattler was a badass that I looked up to, and I can’t wait to see what she’s been up to after all these years. 

Julia Stiles (10 Things I Hate About You)

Ugh, 10 Things I Hate About You is one of my favorites, and it’s legit because of the chemistry that Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger have in this film. They are my all-time favorite romantic couple and Julia Stiles rocks it as Kat. 

Halle Berry (Jungle Fever)

While Halle Berry has been in plenty of badass roles over the last two decades, there was a time where she was just getting started in Hollywood. One of the first films that she had a supporting role in was Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever, where she played Vivian. While she's gone on to play more prominent roles since then, it was one of the movies that broke her out onto the scene and paved the way for bigger things down the line, like X-Men and Monster’s Ball. 

Natalie Portman (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace)

Padme Amidala, known as the Queen/Senator of Naboo and Anakin Skywalker's lover (later wife) was a Star Wars character that made her debut in 1999, and was a badass in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Natalie Portman portrayed the legendary Star Wars character for the prequel trilogy, and inspired young girls everywhere - but we don’t need to talk about how her character ends in Revenge of the Sith. 

Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction)

While my personal all-time favorite Uma Thurman performance is her role in Kill Bill, one of her biggest roles prior to this was portraying Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction, earning her a nomination at the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor. I mean, she was the literal character featured on the poster for this film, and honestly, I can see why. She has such star appeal. She has plenty of great performances but this is one of her best. 

Mena Suvari (American Beauty)

This 1999 film, American Beauty, told a captivating story about a man having a midlife crisis, but the main star to me of this was Mena Suvari as Angela Hayes, the object of affection for the main character, Lester Burnham. Even if the film didn’t age too well, I think we call agree Suvari was phenomenal in it. 

Robin Wright (Forrest Gump)

If you’re not saying “Jenny” by the end of Forrest Gump in a Southern drawl, I don’t think we were watching the same film. This Academy Award-winning film starring Tom Hanks told the story of Forrest Gump and his legendary life, often times where he would think of his young love, Jenny, played by Robin Wright. Their love story is a tumultuous one, but a memorable one as well. 

Kirsten Dunst (Interview With The Vampire)

Kirsten Dunst in Interview with the Vampire is iconic for many reasons, showing how amazingly talented she was as an actress at the tender age of eleven. She later went on to star in films like Bring it On and Spider-Man, but no one can quite forget her character, Claudia.

Salma Hayek (Desperado)

Salma Hayek has been in many different kinds of films, such as being a part of the Grown Ups cast or starring in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, but Desperado was one of the early films that made her the star she is today. Starring alongside Antonio Banderas as Carolina, Hayek was badass and her character was just as amazing. It’s definitely one of her best movies, and I would watch another film with both her and Banderas.  

Angela Bassett (What’s Love Got To Do With It, Waiting To Exhale) 

Angela Bassett is a master-class actress, and has shown just how amazingly talented she is in any role. I mean, there are so many movie parts that she should have been nominated for an Oscar, However, one of her most iconic roles from the '90s did indeed earn her nominations - her portrayal of Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with It. And another great role for Bassett in the '90s was Bernadine Harris in Waiting to Exhale. Both of these movies were great showcases of her acting prowess. 

Whitney Houston (The Bodyguard)

“And I will always love you.” 

You know the song, I know you do. It’s one of the most iconic songs of all time and has been performed by so many people. Even though it was originally written by Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston sang this iconic song for the soundtrack for The Bodyguard, where she played Rachel Marron, a famous singer who falls for the bodyguard tasked with protecting her. 

Michelle Yeoh (Tomorrow Never Dies)

Last but not least, we have Michelle Yeoh in Tomorrow Never Dies. While she’s been in plenty of amazing movies such as Crazy Rich Asians and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, one of my personal favorites of hers is her role as Wai Lin, a Chinese spy and an ally to James Bond. 

Yeoh is a bloody badass. This James Bond alum truly defined the term “kick ass and take names” because she was one of the best Bond girls ever, in my opinion. I would gladly see her return to the franchise alongside Pierce Brosnan, but I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon, so I’ll just re-watch this movie over and over. 

There are truly so many other iconic roles, but these are some of the best that you should check out again next time you want to watch a great movie. Now, if you don’t mind me, I’m going to re-watch Jurassic Park again before the latest sequel.  

It’s been over a decade since Orphan was released and took horror fans on a psychological journey with that shocking twist. Now Esther is set to return to our screen in an equally horrific prequel, Orphan: First Kill, this time with 10 Things I Hate About You leading lady Julia Stiles starring alongside Esther’s Isabelle Fuhrman. Stiles opens up about the upcoming film by teasing another major horror twist we can expect to be thrown at us.

In a video chat interview with Collider for their segment “Ladies’ Night After Hours”, Julia Stiles says while she is not a huge fan of the horror genre, the gripping script and psychological twist of Orphan: First Kill drew her out of COVID isolation to work on the horror film. Without giving anything away, Stiles says she’s sure fans will like the film. Here it is in the actress’s exact words:

I honestly don’t think she could have said anything more promising about the film. The fact that Julia Stiles not only took on a project that she didn’t initially want a part of before reading the script, but she also put aside her level of comfort concerning the pandemic to take part in the film. A script being so good to first change a person’s perspective and also bring them out of the comfort zone is one that I definitely want to see the product of.

Another interesting thing about Orphan: First Kill is that even though it is a prequel to Orphan, Isabelle Fuhrman is taking back up her role as Esther, which she played at the age of 12 over ten years ago. Now in her mid-20’s, it’ll be interesting to see her character played out on screen again. Of course, if you’ve seen the first film, the weird age thing kind of makes sense.

It’s worth noting that even though Julia Stiles does say she’s not a fan of horror, she did act in the Omen remake and had a pretty wild role in Dexter, which could be classified as a type of horror show - it’s disturbing to say the least. It seems that, although she has been successful in a number of genres, Stiles finds a more comfortable home in thrillers and psychological films, which appears to have drawn her to the Orphan prequel.

Orphan: First Kill has recently completed and is set to release next summer. While there is not much known about the plot of the film other than it being a prequel to Orphan, we are now pretty much promised by Julia Stiles to have an awesome twist to look forward to - which we will totally hold her to.

These days it isn't that unusual to see Julia Stiles make a television appearance, but throughout the 2000s, it was largely unheard of. That changed when the actress was offered a supporting role on the Showtime series Dexter Season 5, and according to Stiles, the series and her experience on it changed her views on television permanently.

Julia Stiles spoke to Collider Ladies Night in advance of the latest season of her acclaimed drama Riviera, and she had nothing but positive things to say about the serial killer thriller Dexter. When asked about the changes or challenges involved with jumping into a film versus a TV show with a pre-established universe and fanbase, the actress explained her thoughts about television going into her role as Lumen Pierce, and how that changed during the show.

Riviera is the latest show Julia Stiles is taking the lead on, but far from the only one that she's popped up in during the years since her stint in Dexter back in 2010. Stiles was the lead in her own television drama Blue for a couple of years, and had memorable guest spots on shows such as The Mindy Project and Inside Amy Schumer.

Unfortunately, Julia Stiles didn't share her thoughts on the upcoming Dexter 10-episode limited series. With the upcoming revival on the way, and Julia Stiles Lumen Pierce still alive within the universe, there is the wild off-chance that the character could make an appearance in the new season. Of course, I wouldn't exactly say that it's likely, considering former star James Remar claimed no former cast members were asked back beyond Michael C. Hall, but a chance all the same.

Lumen Pierce was a big part of Season 5 of Dexter, which followed up on the character's life after his wife Rita was murdered by the Trinity Killer. Pierce started out as a potential witness that Dexter needed to eliminate, but the two formed a bond when he realized she too had a "Dark Passenger." The two went about killing abusers from her past while developing a somewhat icky romantic relationship. Eventually, Lumen realized that murder wasn't something she needed to do anymore, and she bid farewell to Dexter with a promise to keep his dark secret from the world. The role earned Stiles an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, but despite that, there's been no indication that she'd return.

The Dexter revival is still in the works, but more details are being revealed about the series as the weeks continue. And those looking for more from Stiles should keep an eye out for Riviera's new season.

Ever feel like the ‘90s were just ten years ago? That’s a delusion I like to live in, but it seems like anytime there is a bombshell of a throwback I get jerked out of that false reality. This time, it’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt snapping me back to 2021 with his 10 Things I Hate About You tribute photo he recently posted to celebrate the anniversary of the iconic film. Levitt’s photo shows a child version of himself with a young Heather Ledger, Julia Stiles, and Larisa Oleynik in all their ‘90s glory.

If it were the photo alone, I’d be elated. However, in Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s caption he mentions how it’s been over 20 years since 10 Things I Hate About You was released. While the photo of the four actors screams ‘90s with the jump poses and platform flip flops, there is something timeless about the film and how the actors look in it. I was only 5 when 10 Things I Hate About You came out but I know I watched the film in High School and it felt like the film was brand new - and I know I’m not alone in that experience. It seems like everyone my age also watched the film when they were in High School and it remains one of their favorite films to this day.

I don’t know anything about kids in High School currently, but the comments on Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s post seem to imply the same experience is happening to kids now. Other people who grew up loving the film are saying their High School aged kids have seen the movie and love it, one commenter saying their 16-year-old daughter loves it.

In fact, people of all different generations (okay, maybe there are no baby boomers present) are commenting saying 10 Things I Hate About You is one of their favorite films ever and have some kind of fond coming-of-age experience with it.

It’s rare to come across a film that can hold such a special place for so many different people at so many different times. 10 Things I Hate About You seems to be a film that defies all time, and becomes brand new for each generation. It’s almost like Joseph Gordon-Levitt has glitched the time loop by pointing out how old the film really is, even though he has clearly aged out of the kid he is in the film.

Even though so much has changed since the release of 10 Things I Hate About You and the actors have moved on in so many ways (RIP Heath Ledger), it’s refreshing that the film can hold a place in time for them and act as a kind of right of passage for new generations. Joseph Gordon-Levitt may have posted a great throwback, but this film is still very much relevant.

There's no denying that Hustlers stole a lot of hearts and made a whole lot of cash when it premiered in theaters around the globe in September of last year. While it didn't receive any Oscar love, even though it received awards consideration from various other organizations, writer/director Lorene Scafaria's true story-based crime dramedy proved to be an entertaining and captivating feature. And it was aided nicely by its assured ensemble, which included strong performances from Constance Wu and particularly Jennifer Lopez, in what's been celebrated as one of her finest screen roles.

Now that it's been a little over a year since the acclaimed film swayed its way into theaters, what's the esteemed cast of Hustlers doing now? Let's take a look and see!

Constance Wu (Destiny)

As Destiny, the newcomer to Moves who flies under Ramona's wing, particularly during her criminal endeavors, Constance Wu has the central role in Hustlers. Prior to this performance, Wu was best known for playing the lead character in Crazy Rich Asians, for which she was Golden Globe-nominated, and for her long-standing roles in ABC's Fresh Off the Boat and EastSiders. Wu also lent her voice to Next Gen and The Lego Ninjago Movie. And she starred in Sound of My Voice, Parallels, and The Feels.

Next, Constance Wu voices a character to Wish Dragon, which is expected to come out sometime next year. She also stars in a dramedy titled Low Budget Ethnic Movie, which is directed, written, edited, produced, and starring Daniel Yoon. Wu is also soon set to be seen in I Was a Simple Man, and the rom-com, Mr. Malcolm's List, which she's also producing.

Jennifer Lopez (Ramona Vega)

In the memorable role of Romana Vega, the veteran stripper who shows Destiny the ropes and eventually introduces her to a life of crime, Jennifer Lopez gave arguably the performance of her career in Hustlers. So much so that she seemed like an Oscar frontrunner, and many folks were mad when she wasn't even nominated. Alas, while the Academy didn't recognize her work, she certainly had more-than-a-few admirers.

Both as a musician and actress, Jennifer Lopez has established a long-standing career. Particularly as an actress, Lopez is known for Anaconda, Out of Sight, Maid in Manhattan, Monster-in-Law, Shall We Dance?, Gigli, The Cell, The Boy Next Door, Enough, The Wedding Planner, U-Turn, and Selena. She's also known for TV shows like In Living Color, Shades of Blue, and American Idol.

Next, JLo produces and stars in the romantic comedy-musical, Marry Me, which hits theaters in May. Likewise, she'll star in and produce The Godmother and Shotgun Wedding, both of which are in pre-production. She's also the host of NBC's World of Dance, which recently aired its fourth season.

Lili Reinhart (Annabelle)

Playing the part of Annabelle, a new-to-the-game stripper with a queasy stomach, Lili Reinhart played a standout supporting role in Hustlers. Most notably, Lili Reinhart is known for her role as Betty Cooper on The CW's Riverdale. She also appeared on Fox's Surviving Jack, and in episodes of Law & Order: SVU, Scientastic!, and The Simpsons. Additionally, Reinhart's film roles include The Kings of Summer, Miss Stevens, Forever's End, Galveston, The Good Neighbor, Not Waving But Drowning, Lilith, and a cameo in 2019's Charlie's Angels reboot.

Outside of her ongoing role in Riverdale, Lili Reinhart was most recently seen in Amazon Prime's romantic drama, Chemical Hearts, in August. She was also an executive producer on the movie. Currently, she doesn't have any additional roles lined up yet.

Keke Palmer (Mercedes)

As Mercedes, another stripper who becomes part of Destiny and Ramona's money-stealing enterprise, Keke Palmer played one of the main roles in Hustlers. First finding fame through her award-winning starring role in Akeelah and the Bee, Palmer is also known for Barbershop 2: Back in Business, The Longshots, Madea's Family Reunion, Shrink, Joyful Noise, and Pimp. She also played the title character in Nickelodeon's True Jackson, VP, and she starred in Winx Club, Scream Queens, Berlin Station, and MTV's Scream. She also hosted Just Keke.

Most recently, Keke Palmer appeared in 2 Minutes of Fame. She also stars in Turnt Up with the Taylors. And she was one-third of GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke, which was canceled this year. Next, Palmer plays the title role in Alice, which is now filming. She's also set to lend her voice to the new series, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

Julia Stiles (Elizabeth)

In the role of Elizabeth, a journalist following Destiny's turn into criminality that's seen throughout the film, Julia Stiles provided the connective tissue for Hustlers' rambunctious story thread. The actress is best known for her supporting role in the Bourne franchise, as well as her leading roles in Wicked, 10 Things I Hate About You, Down to You, The Prince and Me, O, and Save the Last Dance. Additionally, Stiles is known for Silver Linings Playbook, Mona Lisa Smile, 2006's The Omen, It's a Disaster, A Guy Thing, and A Little Trip to Heaven. She also appeared in the fifth season of Dexter.

Currently, Julia Stiles can be seen in the third season of Riviera, which she frontlines. She'll also star in The God Committee, which will arrive next year. Additionally, Stiles is currently filming Esther, also known as Orphan: First Kill, which is a prequel to 2009's Orphan.

Lizzo (Liz)

In her big-screen debut, Lizzo plays Liz, a fellow stripper at Moves, in Hustlers. As a chart-topping rapper-flutist, Lizzo has been raising her profile more and more throughout the years, and that includes a couple of acting roles along the way. In addition to this supporting turn, Lizzo provided a voice performance in 2019's UglyDolls.

As a musician, Lizzo has released three studio albums, 2013's Lizzobangers, 2016's Big Grrrl Small World, and 2019's Cuz I Love You, as well as 2016's EP, Coconut Oil. Her most well-known singles include "Good As Hell," "Truth Hurts," "Juice," and "Tempo." Earlier this year, Lizzo won three Grammys, including Best Urban Contemporary Album, for her latest studio album. Additionally, Lizzo was recognized as Time Magazine's Entertainer of the Year last year.

Next, Lizzo will be heard in the upcoming short film, Yeti! Yeti! She also recently signed a production deal with Amazon Studios. And she made a fun cameo in The Eric Andre Show Season 5.

Cardi B (Diamond)

While she has been making a name for herself as one of the hottest rappers in the business right now, Hustlers is Cardi B's official screen debut, as she doesn't have any other film or television credits to her name outside of music videos and talk show appearances. Every actor or actress needs to start their career somewhere, and Hustlers is a pretty damn good place to kick off your acting career. Even though she's surrounded by veteran talents and up-and-coming performers, Cardi B certainly holds her own here, proving to be a charismatic and dynamic screen performer. It definitely wouldn't be surprising if this movie launched a stable acting career in Cardi B's future.

Nevertheless, she's already doing exceptionally well in the music world, with a Grammy to her name and several other accolades to boot. That said, Cardi B is soon expected to be seen in F9.

Mercedes Ruehl (Mama)

As Mama, the club's den mother, Mercedes Ruehl played a watchful and mindful older maternal figure in Hustlers. A multi-award-winning actress with an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a Tony to her name, Ruehl is an incredibly accomplished actress who sadly doesn't get her full due today. Her most well-known performance is in The Fisher King, for which she won her Oscar. Her other notable screen credits include Big, Radio Days, Heartburn, Married to the Mob, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Last Action Hero, and Roseanna's Grave. Additionally, Ruehl appeared in episodes of Frasier, Law & Order, Entourage, Psych, Law & Order: SVU, Life in Pieces, NCIS, 2 Broke Girls, and The Mysteries of Laura. She also had a recurring role in Power.

Hustlers was Mercedes Ruehl's most recent film role. Additionally, the actress reprised her role as Judge Tessa Hudson in a 2019 episode of CBS's Bull.

Madeline Brewer (Dawn)

In the role of Dawn, a drug-addled hire whom Destiny finds unreliable, Madeline Brewer played a prominent role in Hustlers' second half. Most notably, the actress is known for her work in Netflix's Orange Is the New Black, Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale, and her leading role in the horror movie, Cam. Additionally, she appeared in Netflix's Hemlock Grove. Her other film credits include Flesh and Blood, Captive State, Braid, and Hedgehog. Brewer also appeared in Grimm, Black Mirror, The Deleted, and Stalker. Her other credits include the short films, Marie Celeste, from last year and this year's The One. Also, the actress played a prominent part in John Cameron Mitchell's musical podcast, Anthem: Homunculus.

Most recently, Madeline Brewer starred in Now Is Everything, which is currently in the film festival circuits, and the newest season of The Handmaid's Tale. Her upcoming films include The Ultimate Playlist of Noise and Separation.

Wai Ching Ho (Destiny’s Grandmother)

As Destiny's caring and concerning grandmother, Wai Ching Ho played a key emotional supporting role in Hustlers. Outside of this performance, viewers might know Wai Ching Ho best for playing Madame Gao in Netflix's Daredevil, Iron Fist, and The Defenders, respectively. Her other TV credits include Law & Order, One Life to Live, Fresh Off the Boat, New Amsterdam, Flight of the Conchords, Blue Bloods, Orange is the New Black, The Jim Gaffigan Show, and Law & Order: SVU. Additionally, Ho appeared in Cadillac Man, Robot Stories, Premium Rush, Tracers, Adventures of Power, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and Set It Up.

Most recently, Wai Ching Ho appeared in an episode of Comedy Central's Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens. She also starred in Lucky Grandma, which came out virtually earlier this year. Next, she'll star in a pair of short films, klutz. and A Father's Son, as well as the dramedy, Joyful.

Trace Lysette (Tracey)

In the role of Tracey, a fellow stripper working at Moves, Trace Lysette plays a prominent part in Hustlers. Outside of this performance, Lysette is best known for her work on Amazon Prime's acclaimed drama series, Transparent. She also appeared in Blunt Talk, Pose, Law & Order: SVU, Drunk History, Midnight, Texas, David Makes Man, and Coffee House Chronicles: The Movie. Additionally, Lysette appeared in short films like 2015's Bloody Mary and 2017's Deadbeat, as well as the music videos for Maroon 5's "Girls Like You" and Cher's "SOS." The actress can be seen in the reality TV series, I Am Cait, and the reality competition series, RuPaul's Drag Race. She was also recently an interview subject in Netflix's documentary, Disclosure.

Most recently, Trace Lysette reprised her role as Shea in Transparent's musical series finale last year. Next, she'll star in Venus as a Boy and Monica.

Usher (Himself)

In the role he was born to play, Usher makes a starry cameo appearance in the middle of Hustlers. Though he's known primarily as a musician, he has kept a consistent acting career in both film and television, including leading man performances in In the Mix and Light It Up, as well as notable supporting turns in She's All That, The Faculty, Gepetto, Moesha, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, 7th Heaven, Soul Food, Texas Rangers, Killers, Scary Movie 5, Muppets Most Wanted, Hands of Stone, and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. He was also seen in various episodes of NBC's The Voice.

Earlier this year, Usher starred in Hulu's Bad Hair. Additionally, the actor-musician was seen in the drama, Burden, which premiered at Sundance in 2018 and got its formal theatrical release earlier this year. He also recently directed the music video for his single, "I Cry."

Orphan may not have made the biggest splash in 2009, especially compared to other horror fare from that year, like Saw VI or The Final Destination, but in the years following its release, it’s become a cult favorite. Now Orphan fans will get the opportunity to revisit this spooky world soon, as a prequel is currently being shot, and it’s bringing back a familiar face from the last movie.

Having originally been announced back in February, Orphan: First Kill, which is being produced by Dark Castle Entertainment and Entertainment One, is in the midst of principal photography up in Winnipeg, with William Brent Bell from The Boy franchise sitting in the director’s chair and David Coggeshall handling scripting duties. According to Deadline, Isabelle Fuhrman will be reprising her role of Esther from the original Orphan. She will be joined by Bourne franchise star Julia Stiles, whose character wasn’t identified.

Before going further, let’s provide some context for those who haven’t seen Orphan or haven’t watched it in a long time. The movie followed a couple who adopt a 9-year-old Russian girl named Esther, who immediate starts demonstrating strange and violent behavior. It’s eventually revealed that Esther is actually a 33-year-old woman named Leena Klammer who has a condition called hypopituitarism that stunned her growth, resulting in her posing as a little girl and bouncing around from family to family.

Orphan ended with Esther/Leena’s death, but as mentioned earlier, Orphan: First Kill will wind the clock back to show how her murderous rampage began. Specifically, the prequel will chronicle Leena escaping from an Estonian psychiatric facility and making her way to the United States by impersonating the missing daughter from a wealthy family. Once stateside, Leena sets up her Esther identity, and she soon finds herself clashing with a mother who is desperate to keep her family safe at all costs (I suspect Julia Stiles is playing that mother).

It’s also worth mentioning that Isabelle Fuhrman was 10 years old when Orphan was shooting, so needless to say she’s grown quite a bit 13 years later. Deadline’s report mentioned that the Orphan: First Kill filmmakers are “utilizing a combination of forced perspective shooting and a world-class makeup team” to make the actress look just like the Esther we remember from over a decade ago.

Following her time on Orphan, Isabelle Fuhrman appeared in movies like The Hunger Games, After Earth and Cell, as well as recurred on the Showtime series Masters of Sex. Along with Orphan: First Kill, she’s also set to appear in Escape Room 2. So Fuhrman is keeping a steady foothold in the horror world.

Netflix has films that appeal to horror junkies, thrill-seekers, even hopeless romantics, and so many other movie genres. Its wide selection of movies is what makes it one of the most popular streaming services. And if you’re a fan of dance movies, then Netflix has plenty, including their latest film Work It.

Work It stars Sabrina Carpenter, Liza Koshy, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Jordan Fisher. The film follows teen Quinn (Sabrina Carpenter) as she forms a new dance group in order to impress an admissions representative at Duke University. The film takes a similar path as other dance movies: a studious girl spends her entire high school life studying, then she discovers the power of dance. Work It has all the ingredients of a fun dance movie, including the learning how to dance montage.

If you’ve already watched Work It, and are now in desperate need of some more dance movies in your life, then I have a few suggestions.

Save The Last Dance

What It's About: Julia Stiles plays aspiring ballerina Sara, who moves to an inner-city after her mother dies in a car accident. Sara gives up her dancing dreams because of the accident, that is until she meets Derek (Sean Patrick Thomas), who helps her find her love of dancing again.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Work It and Save the Last Dance are kindred spirits in that they are both about teen girls who find their rhythm while falling in love. Unlike Quinn, Sara has a dance background, so dancing is already part of her nature, but she also must learn the complicated hip hop dance style.

Leap!

What It’s About: Leap! is an animated film featuring voice acting by Elle Fanning, Nat Wolff, and Carly Rae Jepsen. It’s about two orphans who run away to Paris. There, Félicie (Fanning) starts to train to become a ballerina.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Leap! is a lighthearted dance film that also revolves around someone who doesn’t have any formal dance training, but gets mentorship from a fallen expert. Félicie and Quinn both train and find their groove and achieve their dance dreams. For Quinn it’s winning the major Work It competition, for Félicie, it’s to perform alongside principal dancers.

Footloose

What It’s About: Dancing is outlawed in small-town Bomont, Oklahoma, but rebel Ren (Kevin Bacon) refuses to just live a life without dancing and rock music. Footloose’s cast includes Lori Singer, Dianne Wiest, John Lithgow, Chris Penn, and Sarah Jessica Parker. The original film was released in 1984, and a remake was made in 2011.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Footloose and Work It highlight the power of dance and its symbolic tie to freedom and passion.The teens in Work It and Footloose discover their true identities through dancing.

Center Stage

What It’s About: Center Stage follows several young dancers as they try to prove themselves at a prestigious dance academy. It details the personal and professional struggles they undergo to be considered one of the best ballet dancers. Much of Center Stage’s storyline revolves around Jody (Amanda Schull) not quite fitting the dance mold, but having a strong desire to prove herself. Center Stage’s cast includes Zoe Saldana, Peter Gallagher, Ethan Stiefel, Sascha Radetsky, and Susan May Pratt.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Work It and Center Stage both include a cast of real professional dancers, as most of the main cast of Work It has experience in dancing as well as acting. Jordan Fisher even won Dancing with the Stars. Both films are also underdog stories told in the dance world.

Battle

What It’s About: Battle is a Norwegian drama about Amalie (Lisa Teige), a rich girl who has her life turned upside down when her father loses his entire fortune. Amalie and her father have to move to a rougher area. Amalie still keeps her dance dreams, but ends up practicing in a free dance studio where she meets Mikael (Fabian Svegaard).

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Battle very much feels like a Norwegian Saved the Last Dance, so it’s all about a girl who is used to structured dancing finding a passion for hip-hop and the cute guy who instructs her. Work It also feels like a younger sibling to Save the Last Dance in how it takes a girl used to structure and discipline and allows her to find the beauty of listening to her heart and the beat.

Dirty Dancing

What It’s About: Dirty Dancing is a romantic movie about a resort dance instructor falling for one of the girls vacationing there. Baby (Jennifer Grey) and Johnny (Patrick Swayze) get to know each other and start to fall in love through dancing, but Baby’s father doesn’t trust Johnny, especially because he comes from a working-class family.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Work It plays up how Quinn and Jake (Jordan Fisher)’s attraction grows every time they dance together. Dirty Dancing and Work It demonstrate the seductive nature of dance and how it can create authentic chemistry between people.

You Got Served

What It’s About: You Got Served is a dramedy about a street dance crew that battles other hip hop dancers. The dance crew has ups and downs before they try to win the big prize at the major dance competition hosted by MTV. You Got Served’s cast mainly consists of B2K band members, including Marques Houston, Omarion Grandberry, J-Boog Houston, Raz-B Thornton, and Lil Fizz Frederic. Steve Harvey also appears in the film as Mr. Rad, the owner of the club where many of the dance battles take place.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: You Got Served is a bit more serious than Work It but they’re both overall fun dance movies that don’t take themselves too seriously. Each film also has the power of friendship and being there for one another as one of the driving themes.

Dance Academy: The Comeback

What It’s About: Dance Academy was an Australian teen series that aired from 2010 to 2013. In 2017, it had a continuation movie that followed some of the main characters from the series trying to make it in the dance world. The Dance Academy: The Comeback cast includes Xenia Goodwin, Alicia Banit, Jordan Rodrigues, Dena Kaplan, Thomas Lacey, and Keiynan Lonsdale.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Work It had a subplot about ambitious dancers trying to prove themselves to get into top-notch dance programs and universities. If Work It only focused on that aspect, then it would probably have a more similar plot to Dance Academy: The Comeback about the journey of young dancers. Both films also share Lonsdale as an actor.

Fame

What It’s About: Fame follows a group of New York City teens as they attend a performing arts school. It follows the students from freshmen to senior year. The Fame cast includes Gene Anthony Ray, Irene Cara, Debbie Allen, and Lee Curreri.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Fame depicts various art forms and shows the obstacles that come with being an artist. It mixes these issues with typical teen problems, like meeting parental standards. Work It dealt with Quinn’s struggle to please her mother, while also feeling the draw towards dance. Fame and Work It share in that they don’t just address the struggles of a career n the arts, but also typical teen everyday difficulties.

Bring It On

What It’s About: Torrance (Kirsten Dunst) has just become the cheer captain of the cheerleading squad the Toros. The Toros have won multiple national titles, but Torrance learns that they have won most of them by stealing dance moves from the Clovers team. Eliza Dushku, Jesse Bradford, and Gabrielle Union also star. Bring It On later inspired a franchise of sequel films.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Bring It On is more of a cheerleading movie than a dance one, but they both deal with characters who have to start from scratch and find their own style of dance to compete on a grand scale level against a much better team.

Strictly Ballroom

What It’s About: Baz Luhrmann directed and co-wrote Strictly Ballroom, an Australian romantic comedy about Scott (Paul Mercurio), a professional ballroom dancer who loses his partner and must train a newbie, Fran (Tara Morice) to compete in a major championship.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: If you were charmed by Quinn and Jake’s dance romance, you’ll be even more dazzled by Fran and Scott’s love story. Strictly Ballroom is a quirky dance movie that has a similar tone to Work It in its playful nature, but also passion and excitement for dance.

Step Up

What It’s About: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan star in Step Up as Tyler and Nora, two dancers from different backgrounds forced to pair up. Of course, after a combative partnership, they learn to understand each other and work together, and also fall in love. Step Up eventually had five spin-off films (and counting).

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Step Up and Work It both highlight how dancing can break down barriers and help people form bonds. They show how dance is universal and how the combination of dance styles leads to really fun final dance numbers.

Billy Elliot

What It’s About: 11-year old Billy Elliot dreams of becoming a professional ballet dancer. Billy has to hide that he takes lessons because his father and brother disapprove of his dream. Jamie Bell plays Billy.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Billy finds himself not being supported by his father because of how a boy ballet dancer will look to others. Quinn faces some similar parental disapproval from her mother, who believes she should just focus on her school work. Billy Elliot and Work It both end with the parents seeing the error of their ways and learning to support their children’s passions.

Flashdance

What It’s About: Jennifer Beals plays Alex, a young woman who dreams of becoming a professional dancer.

Why Work It Fans Will Like It: Flashdance and Work It both focus on young women who have no professional dance training, but their determination allows them to try (and succeed) to compete when they go up against more seasoned professionals. Both films are also about taking chances, even when the odds seemed stacked against you.

Work It is a cheery dance movie that doesn’t take itself seriously, allowing it to hit the right notes and beats. The films on this list have a similar love of dance spirit.

Theme parks are always looking to add new attractions to keep things fresh for the audience, and while most newly planned ideas have had to be put on hold, one new attraction isn't waiting for the theme parks to be back to full capacity, as Universal Orlando's Bourne Stuntacular live stunt show has now entered the technical rehearsal phase. And this means guests have had their first look at the show, which includes an appearance from a somewhat unlikely member of the Bourne film franchise, Nicky Parsons, as played by Julia Stiles.

Prior to the actual stunt show beginning, guests are given a briefing by Nicky Parsons on a screen where Julia Stiles herself warns guests that she's afraid Jason Bourne's latest mission may include rogue double agents, and so she needs help making sure that's not the case, The interesting thing about Julia Stiles appearing in the show is that, in the canon of the Bourne universe, Nicky is dead. She was killed early in Jason Bourne, the most recent film in the series.

Frequently, we see theme park attractions try to engage the audience by trying to make the ride or show part of the same universe as the films they're based on. According to Universal, that's not the case with the Bourne Stuntacular. This show isn't a prequel to Jason Bourne, but rather one that takes place outside of the films, so Nicky Parsons gets to be alive again. If you were one of the people that was sad to see Julia Stiles character die in the last movie, then it will be nice to see her get a chance to return.

Technically speaking, the new Bourne Stuntacular isn't "open" yet in the traditional sense. Rather, the rehearsals are now being done in front of a live audience and with all the stunt elements there to be enjoyed by the crowd. As such, there is no schedule for the show. Guests will have to simply hope that they wander by the stage at the right time when a rehearsal is ready to get underway.

In addition, because the of the current social distancing precautions being taken at Universal Orlando, the audience space won't be filled to capacity, and Universal team members will be assisting everybody with entering and leaving in order to keep proper distance between groups throughout the show.

No official opening date for the final version of the show was announced. Odds are that it will depend on greatly on the success of the technical rehearsal. If there are any problems discovered with the show things could be set back slightly, but if the rehearsal goes well, as it is almost certainly expected to do since it's being put in front of an audience. the first new attraction of the post-shutdown will likely be here soon.

Hustlers has finally arrived in theaters, and is managing to make money at the box office while also being a critical hit. Lorene Scafaria's dramedy had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, debuting a story based off a real-life article from New York Magazine. There's an all-star cast, including former teen movie star Julia Stiles, who plays a journalist covering the strippers' scam to make money.

Julia Stiles is clearly happy to be part of Hustlers, but also recently lamented the way the film world thought of her as she got older. Stiles is now 38, and recently spoke to the struggle she's faced as an adult actress, and how studios seemingly didn't know where to place her. As she put it:

Despite her long career in film, Julia Stiles hasn't had an easy go at it over the years. And she believes its her former status as a teen star, making it difficult for directors and producers to see her as an adult woman. At least, according to her comments to The Daily Beast.

But Julia Stiles has worked quite a bit since becoming a star in 10 Things I Hate About You, even if her career has had ebbs and flows. Here are some of the biggest projects Stiles did since portraying Katarina Stratford.

Save The Last Dance

Save The Last Dance is perhaps Julia Stiles' most iconic film role after 10 Things I Hate About You. Directed by Thomas Carter, Stiles stars as a young dancer who moved to a inner city following her mother's death. Stiles went through extensive dance training for the role, and the movie was played consistently on syndication throughout the late 90s and early 2000's. Also during this point in her career, Stiles acted in two more modern Shakespeare adaptations, Hamlet and O. These movies all came out in a matter of four years, so clearly she was working quite hard at this point.

The Bourne Identity Franchise

Julia Stiles isn't usually an actress who is synonymous with franchises, let alone action-heavy ones. But she's the most recurring character in the Bourne Identity movies, second only to Matt Damon's title character. Stiles plays Nicky Parsons in four out of five Bourne entries, serving as the franchise's female lead and one of Jason's most trusted allies. She debuted in the very first film of the franchise, and the recent sequel Jason Bourne seemingly put an end to her character's tenure in the property. Still, its a run that lasted over a decade of filmmaking. Between filming the first and second Bourne flicks, Julia Stiles also starred in Mona Lisa Smile and romantic comedy The Prince and Me.

The Omen 

Julia Stiles dipped her foot into the horror world with the 2006 remake of The Omen. Like the iconic original movie, The Omen follows a young mother (Stiles) who slowly realizes that her son is the anti-christ. The movie allowed Julia Stiles to play a more adult character, albeit still one with her signature wit. This wouldn't be her first thriller, as she also worked on projects like A Little Trip to Heaven and The Cry of the Owl around this time. Unfortunately, The Omen got some negative reviews when it first hit theaters, ultimately grossing $119.5 million at the box office.

Oleanna On Broadway

Julia Stiles may have had a hard time getting adult roles, but she's an actress who is constantly challenging herself with new mediums. This includes a career on the stage, eventually landing on Broadway in 2009. During this time Stiles starred alongside Bill Pullman in David Mamet's Oleanna. In the acclaimed play, Stiles played a young student who clashes with her Professor (played by Pullman). The two-person show consists entirely of their long conversation, and the tension that rises with each scene. Unfortunately, the Broadway run failed to sell enough tickets, and closed ahead of its original limited runtime.

Dexter Season 5

Showtime's quirky drama Dexter typically had a big guest star for every season, providing a new character for Michael C. Hall's title character to interact with-- one way or another. Julia Stiles had this distinction in the show's fifth season, which followed Dexter in the wake of a terrible tragedy. Rather than playing a villain, Julia Stiles' Lumen Pierce was an ally to the serial killer with a code. Together they hunted down and killed the men who tortured and assaulted Lumen, with the season showing Dexter having his first honest relationship with a woman. Stiles ended the show after Season 5 was completed, an Lumen was never seen from again during the following seasons.

Silver Lining's Playbook

David O. Russell's Silver Lining's Playbook was a star-making moment for Jennifer Lawrence, who would eventually win the Oscar for Best Actress that year. But Russell assembled a killer supporting cast to bring the movie to life, including Julia Stiles herself. Stiles played Veronica, the privileged older sister of Lawrence's protagonist Tiffany. The movie was a major hit, with Stiles able to bring her acting chops to the surface as a supporting player. The cast itself was nominated for a few awards, winning the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Cast.

Blue

Julia Stiles stepped into the streaming world with the web series Blue. Stiles played the title character of the series, who is a single mother who supports her family as a secret escort. It was a decidedly adult role for the actress, all the more risky since the project wasn't actually on TV. The series streamed on Youtube and Hulu, and Julia Stiles was even nominated for some awards for leading role in the little known project. The series ran for three seasons, before being put on hiatus.

Riviera

Riviera is a TV series starring Julia Stiles as the protagonist, which airs on British paid channel Sky Atlantic. The drama is set on the French Riviera, and follows Stiles' character Georgina Marjorie Clios as an art curator whose life careens into chaos following her husband's death. Two seasons have aired thus far, with the show available for American audiences on the channel Ovation. Clearly Julia Stiles has found a home on the small screen over the years, while still appearing in film roles including Hustlers. But given that blockbuster's success, perhaps we'll see Stiles in more movies in the future.

If you've been paying attention to the world of TV and film production, you'll notice that one trend is ruling the day: nostalgia. The appeal to return to a simpler time is just too good to miss, resulting in reboots and long awaited sequels from previously completed properties. Now everyday is #ThrowbackThursday, but that hasn't stopped folks from soaking up every nostalgic feel they can. And good news for 90's kids, because actress Gabrielle Union just shared a throwback photo from on the set of teen comedy 10 Things I Hate About You, and it just might make your day. Check it out.

I mean, come on. How can you not feel all warm and fuzzy when looking at the fresh faces of the 10 Things cast, including the late, great Heath Ledger. I mean, just look at his hair.

10 Things I Hate About You was released back in 1999, and has gone on to become one of the most iconic teen films of the decade. A modern (and very loose) adaptation of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, 10 Things helped to catapult the careers of actors like Gabrielle Union, Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Julia Stiles. The film has achieved iconography for its unique dialogue, fantastic cast, and awesome soundtrack.

While 10 Things arrived in the late 90s, the film would only gain more adoration as the years went on. It was played almost continuously on syndication during the early 2000s (although you'll end up missing some of the dirtier jokes), making the movie utterly quotable by millennials and the like. Particularly, Julia Stiles' teary monologue in the film's final scene has gone on to the hall of fame for rom-com emotional breakdowns. Take that, Renee Zellweger.

10 Things I Hate About You was Gabrielle Union's first film job, playing the supporting role of Chastity. The best friend of popular girl Bianca (Alex Mack actress Larisa Oleynik), Union was able to steal a variety of scenes by playing the ditzy valley girl who actually had a feisty and vindictive side. This is just one of Union's many teen movie credits from the 90s and 2000s, which is no doubt the reason why so many 20 and 30 somethings adore her. Other similarly iconic movies include She's All That, Bring It On, and Love & Basketball.

In addition to being Gabrielle Union's first film job, 10 Things I Hate About You also featured the debut of Australian actor Heath Ledger. He landed the lead role of Patrick on a whim, and instantly made audiences fall in love with his charm, bad boy attitude, and that head of hair. 10 Things I Hate About You was later made into a TV show a decade later on ABC Family. And while character actor Larry Miller reprised his role as Kat and Bianca's father, the rest of the cast was obviously too old to return. The show only ran for one season.

Warning: major spoilers for Jason Bourne are ahead!

Jason Bourne had made four cinematic appearances since 2001, and there's only one other character who co-starred alongside him in all those movies: Nicky Parsons, played by Julia Stiles. Originally part of Operation Treadstone, Nicky gradually became one of Jason's allies, and it was thanks to her that he learned more about his past in the franchise's latest installment, Jason Bourne. However, she was killed early on in the new movie, but Stiles was okay with her character's demise.

Although she didn't know Nicky's fate before joining Jason Bourne, Stiles told EW that because Nicky's death was dramatic and had meaning, she was fine with being axed. She explained:

A decade after the events of The Bourne Ultimatum, Jason Bourne reunited with Nicky Parsons as a member of a hacktivist group led by Christian Dassault (played by Vinzenz Kiefer). While hacking into the CIA's mainframe (no doubt sticking it to her former employers was cathartic), Nicky discovered documents that provided more information about how Jason Bourne was recruited into Treadstone and his father's involvement in the program. She soon tracked him down in Greece, but unfortunately for them, the CIA was also in the area. Although Jason and Nicky were able to escape the initial wave of agents after them, Nicky was killed by the Asset (played by Vincent Cassel), another Treadstone operative with a grudge against Jason. Before dying, she gave Jason a key to the locker holding the CIA information she uncovered earlier, thus setting him on his new adventure.

Considering how many bodies drop when Jason Bourne is running, it's a wonder she survived this long. Nevertheless, Nicky has been part of the franchise since the beginning, so her loss will definitely be felt should the franchise continue. So far Jason Bourne has earned over $116 million worldwide, but reviews have been decidedly mixed. It's still unclear if Universal Pictures will move ahead with Bourne 6, but if they do, it will be sans-Nicky Parsons. Jason will have to get hacking help from another computer expert.

It's been nine years since we've seen super spy Jason Bourne in action, and with Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass returning to the series, it's only fitting that Julia Stiles would return as well. Her character Nicky is in every Bourne film (except that one with Jeremy Renner that on one talks about), helping out Bourne when she can. She played a big role in The Bourne Ultimatum, but it's been a long time since that movie, so who knows what Nicky's been up to all this time? Julia Stiles has dropped some details about her character and the role she has to play in Jason Bourne.

Julia Stiles recently sat down with Yahoo! Movies to talk about the upcoming action flick and the 15th anniversary of Save the Last Dance. Stiles got to dishing about what Nicky has been up to, but also how she factors into the story. Apparently, Nicky's been busy, and she's responsible for bringing Bourne out of hiding and back into the real world.

Sounds like Nicky has spent her time trying to stick it to the man. Julia Stiles goes on to elaborate that she got to be involved in a big action scene in the first act, something she didn't get to do before in all the other films; she was mostly off to the side while Bourne did all the running and jumping. Stiles explained that it was great to be there and see the scene get filmed; she would even watch all the footage over Paul Greengrass' shoulder because she wanted to soak it all in.

To give us all a reminder of the Jason and Nicky dynamic, here's a clip from The Bourne Ultimatum, in which Bourne beats the snot out of an assassin who's trying to kill Nicky. It should give a good idea to the level of action we'll see in Jason Bourne.

Nicky will be sticking with Bourne for at least one action sequence, but after that, her fate is largely unknown. Do they separate and Nicky disappears into the shadows? Does she not make it out alive in that car chase action sequence? Either way, the answers will be revealed soon enough.

10 Things I Hate About You is a modern telling of William Shakespeare’s classic The Taming of the Shrew. The 1999 film transported the Bard's tale to a modern high school in the Pacific Northwest, and while the cast contained a relatively unknown collection of young actors, many of them went on to become huge stars and have long careers following the film. As it's been more than 16 years since we first met the students of Padua High School, and we thought we'd take the opportunity to see where some of the cast members are now.

Heath Ledger

The story of Heath Ledger is probably the most well known at this point, but it still bears repeating. 10 Things I Hate About You, where he played the lead, Patrick Verona, was his first U.S. film following work in his native Australia. Technically his first American work was the FOX series Roar, though, if you blinked you likely missed the 13 episode run. Following 10 Things, Ledger would go on to star in such films as A Knight’s Tale and Lords of Dogtown before being nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for Brokeback Mountain in 2006. In January of 2008 he was found dead of an accidental overdose. Shortly after his tragic passing, his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight became his most lauded performance, earning him numerous posthumous awards, including the 2009 Academy Award for Best Actor.

Julia Stiles

Stiles got her acting start during a multipart story arc on the PBS series Ghostwriter. She followed that with a series of TV guest appearances and smaller films that led her to the role of Kat Stratford in 10 Things I Hate About You. From there she has starred in popular films like Save the Last Dance and The Prince and Me. She is probably best known currently in the role of CIA agent Nicky Parsons in the Jason Bourne film franchise, and she is currently filming the latest entry in that popular series.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

While no older than anybody else in the cast, Joseph Gordon-Levitt had more acting experience than nearly anybody else since he’d been performing on screen since he was seven-years-old. He was also one of the most recognizable faces as his television series, 3rd Rock From the Sun, began its run in 1996. 2009 was the year the actor would begin to break out as he starred in the cult classic (500) Days of Summer, which he followed with Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending Inception the next year. Most recently Gordon-Levitt starred as the man who tightrope walked between the World Trade Center Towers in Robert Zemeckis' The Walk, and he co-stars with Anthony Mackie and Seth Rogen in the Christmas Comedy The Night Before later this month.

Larisa Oleynik

Bianca Stratford is the younger sister of Kat, and she wants nothing more in the world than to go on a date. Larisa Oleynik is another child actor for whom 10 Things I Hate About You was just another day on the job. She had spent the previous four years playing the lead role on Nickelodeon’s The Secret World of Alex Mack, and she was already performing opposite of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character on 3rd Rock From the Sun, so her part here must have been old hat by the time the movie came around. In her most recent major role, however, you likely didn’t recognize her at all, as she had a recurring role on Mad Men as Cynthia, the wife of Ken Cosgrove.

David Krumholtz

David Krumholtz plays Michael, Cameron’s (Gordon-Levitt) best and only friend friend, who is probably best remembered for having phallic artwork drawn on his face by Joey Donner (Andrew Keegan). Krumholtz was a mainstay of the TV guest spot circuit until 2005 when he took the lead role as math genius Dr. Charlie Eppes on the CBS series Numbers. Krumholtz currently looks nothing like himself playing everybody’s Jewish grandmother on IFC’s new series Gigi Does it.

Andrew Keegan

Every high school comedy needs its asshole, and for 10 Things I Hate About You that was high school student/commercial model Joey Donner, played to perfection by Andrew Keegan. Keegan followed 10 Things by co-starring in another modern Shakespeare adaptation with Julia Stiles, 2001’s O, a high school retelling of Othello that was significantly more somber in tone than his previous dalliance with the Bard. Today, the actor splits his time between acting and running Full Circle Venice, an "open source spiritual community center" in southern California. He also just announced that his girlfriend, Arista Ilona, is pregnant with their first child.

Gabrielle Union

If there was anybody at Padua High more superficial than Bianca Stratford, it was her best friend Chastity, played by Gabrielle Union. After her 1999 teenage comedy double bill of 10 Things I Hate About You and She’s All That, Union has gone on to a variety of TV and movie roles, including opposite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in Bad Boys 2. Her most recent successes include 2012’s Think Like a Man and its sequel. Union can currently be seen on the BET series Being Mary Jane.

Larry Miller

Larry Miller had already been a successful standup and film comedian and actor for years before taking on the role of the Stratford daughters overprotective father. Some of his highlights include the snobby stylist Paolo in Anne Hathaway’s Princess Diaries films and as the rarely seen partner Edwin Poole on David E. Kelly’s Boston Legal, but he has a long, distinguished resume. He was also the only actor to reprise his role for the short lived 10 Things I Hate About You television. Most recently he can be seen in Adam Carolla’s directorial debut Road Hard.

Daryl Mitchell

Darryl Mitchell began his career with 80’s hip-hop group Grove B. Chill. As "Chill" Mitchell, his acting career began with Kid N' Play's first House Party movie. In 10 Things he plays Mr. Morgan, the English teacher who took little shit from his students. Unfortunately, in 2001, following the filming of Disney’s The Country Bears Mitchell was in a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. That has not slowed down his acting career, however, as he continues to do a number of film in TV roles and is currently a series regular on NCIS: New Orleans.

Allison Janney

1999 was the year that everybody learned who Allison Janney was. Whether you saw her in the comedic 10 Things I Hate About You, her dramatic role as White House Press Secretary C.J. Cregg on The West Wing, or remember her mostly silent yet unforgettable role in the Oscar-winning American Beauty, it all happened in 1999. She’s gone on to deliver memorable work like the voice of Peach the starfish in Finding Nemo and the mother of a pregnant Ellen Page in Juno. She currently plays the lead on CBS’ sitcom Mom, and she has a role in Tim Burton’s next film Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

Not only are both franchise star Matt Damon and two-time series director Paul Greengrass returning to the Bourne franchise for the upcoming fifth installment (assuming you consider The Bourne Legacy canon), they’re bringing along another key piece of the saga, Julia Stiles.

According to Deadline, the upcoming action film has been busy casting, and Stiles is now the first confirmed addition to the call sheet, beyond Damon that is. She is set to reprise her role of Nicolette "Nicky" Parsons, a desk jockey CIA analyst who, over the course of the first three movies, proves to be a valuable ally to Damon’s amnesiac super spy, Jason Bourne.

Nicky start off as a relatively small in the larger saga, though she serves as a kind of moral compass inside of the CIA—apparently she thinks it’s rather reprehensible to experiment with people and turn them into cold-blooded killing machines. In the first film, 2002’s The Bourne Identity, she’s basically there just to be held at gunpoint. Bourne also kidnaps her in The Bourne Supremacy, and in Ultimatum she thinks she’s safe because she’s gotten out of the intelligence game, but she still winds up the target of government assassins. She just can’t win.

There have been a number of rumors connecting various actors to fill out the supporting ranks in Bourne 5, but thus are Stiles is the first one to sign up. Joan Allen’s high-ranking CIA Director Pamela Land has played a key role in the last two Damon Bourne films, and seems a likely candidate to make a comeback. A few months ago it also came out that Alicia Vander, who has won a fair amount of recent acclaim for her turn in Ex Machina, among other films, was being pursued as the potential female lead, though nothing has been heard since and her schedule continues to fill up.

In addition to directing, Paul Greengrass is also writing the screenplay for Bourne 5, but there isn’t much available in the way of details at this point. With a release date still set for just over a year from now, it seems like things should start to come together before too long. There has been speculation that Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross could show up in some capacity. He was supposed to get a follow up to The Bourne Legacy that was going to be directed by Fast & Furious helmet Justin Lin, but that remains up in the air at this point.

The as yet untitled Bourne 5 was pushed back a few weeks from its original release date to July 29, 2016, likely to put some space between it and Star Trek 3, which opens earlier that month.

If you were a girl growing up around the turn of the last century, and especially if you were a girl who liked reading and mouthed off a little bit too much for her own good, Julia Stiles was a hero. Thanks to her role as the brainy, sharp-tongued Kat in 10 Things I Hate About You, Stiles became an icon for teenage girls who wanted to be weird and get the guy, or who wanted to know it was OK not to be as obsessed about hair/makeup/clothes/boys as every other teenage girl on-screen. And though Stiles was just an actress playing a part, her career from there seemed to bear out that she was that kind of girl too-- in everything from Save the Last Dance to The Bourne Identity to Dexter, she's been self-possessed and smart, like someone who knew all the steps before anyone else did.

Which is why it's kind of fun, in It's A Disaster, to watch her fall apart. In her defense she's got a good excuse-- in the middle of the traditional "couples brunch" with her friends, where she's brought new boyfriend Glenn (David Cross) as a date, Stiles's character Tracy is faced with the end of the world. Well, that's what they think it is at least, as word comes through that dirty bombs have gone off in downtown Los Angeles, and it's only a matter of time before the fallout makes its way to them. The awkward brunch transforms into a lot of panicked people trying to save themselves and cope with their imminent death, and Tracy finds herself regretting everything she never got to do in life, while also muddling through history's most awkward third date.

I spoke to Stiles a few weeks ago at the offices of Oscilloscope Laboratories, who are distributing It's A Disaster and are testing some inventive strategies to promote it. I talked to her about testing the waters of onscreen comedy, her ongoing web series, and how she finally learned to only take the parts that actually spoke to her-- not what other people thought she should do.

David Cross is a lot older than you . Were you offended when the director was like "Yes, of course you guys should be on a date."

Of course not! Are you kidding me, I'm a huge David Cross fan. First of all, his wife is my age. I was so excited when he responded.

When did you know that you two would be the pair at the center of the story. I know that I signed on before he did-- [laughs] "I did it first!" Todd [Berger, the director] and the three other guys, they're all in The Vacationeers. I knew them from their comedy in LA, and we had done a couple of shorts together. Todd sent me the script and I loved it and I signed on, but sometimes you attach yourself to a movie and it never gets made. But these guys are determined. They were trying to cast Glenn, at which point America signed on, and I think she was friendly with David Cross and she said she'd send him the script. And he was like, sure, I'll do it. When Todd gave me the script he said 'Which female part do you want to play?' and I said Tracy. But also, America and David and I had also met before. A lot of times New York actors, you run in the same circles. We had done readings together and benefits.

Was that the role you picked because it was how you thought you'd react in a disaster situation?

Because I liked that she was so in denial of the whole thing. I liked that she was the only single on in the group, and she had a problem settling down. It was that first scene, and then the scene where she won't let the neighbors come inside.

The genius of this I think is that you feel the sense that everyone has had that terrible brunch.

Just the name "couples brunch" is horrible. This is why I object to Tracy's choices here. Why would you bring someone here on a date? It's like she's deliberately trying to sabotage the relationship or stop it from having a future.

With these guys, the Vacationeers, being an established comedic group, do you have to work your way into a previously established group dynamic?

We all gravitated toward the way that Todd had written the script, and we were all like-minded, so you already have that going for you. Todd has a very specific sense of humor that, if you got it, you wanted to be involved. We all make an effort to get along. It was surprising how it wasn't just for the sake of "oh, we're making a movie, so we have to pretend to be friends." It was actually easy and seamless. We wanted to hang out with each other. Our downtime, and where we'd change, was a house across the street from the one we were shooting in, instead of using trailers. We all wanted to be around each other all day long.

The vibe has to be similar to theater, which you're familiar with. Was that a way to cross over film with theater more so than ever?

Yeah, because we did do a lot of Steadicam shots, where the takes would be really long and the scenes would be really long. There wasn't an audience-- that was the weirdest thing. You're making a comedy and there isn't an audience to tell you if you're being funny or not. In fact everybody around you is trying not to laugh.

How do you get used to that?

I surrounded myself with people like David Cross who could be funny for me.

But what about in terms of even knowing if your jokes are working?

I think I largely just trusted Todd, and I had an instinct-- I think he's really intelligent and really funny, and that he would put together something good.

Had you ever aimed to mix film and theater in that way before?

Not really. Sometimes I feel like I can be on a movie set and miss the theater. When a play is really good and surprising every night, it's like the way your muscles ache to go to the gym. But then, there's also a beauty in moviemaking too. I don't really care so much about the medium or the platform, it's more about the story we're telling. I feel like I want to watch it myself.

You have a second season of your web series coming too. It seems like you're on this edge that people don't know is there yet. They're not paying attention to web series. Why is that something you're passionate about?

It's the kind of thing that in retrospect was an edgy thing to do. It was a leap of faith. Part of me really wanted to work with Rodrigo Garcia, and when he sent me the script, I was like "I don't know, what is this web series thing… it's the Internet, does that cheapen it somehow?" But when I read the script I really loved the writing, and the fact that people, that we made a second season and that it was a good decision for me to do that, or that people are responding to Blue, is such an affirmation of my instincts, which is that if the script is good and the execution is good, that's the only thing that you can control and that's how you should make your decisions.

When you see something like House of Cards on Netflix, do you say "Yeah, we've been doing this for years!" Are people catching up?

I feel like I'm catching up too. I do think that's the way that people watch programming now, and this is sort of a new frontier so why not see where it goes and be a part of it instead of being averse to it. What I like about it is, instead of regular movies or TV, you spend so much time trying to get it financed and get out of the public. But it's nice to just make something and have it come out immediately.

It feels like you choose your projects really careful. Do you feel that way?

I definitely don't have as much control over my career as I would like to pretend I do, but I'm very thoughtful about the roles I take. I can't fake enthusiasm about something I', working on. It's like a romance in a weird way. The opposite ends of the magnet find each other-- does that sound really hokey? If I can't get my mojo up for a part, I don't think the director's going to get their mojo up for me. And if I don't gravitate toward certain material, it's going to show. But I'm working with what I"m offered.

Did you always know that you couldn't work yourself up for something you didn't want to do, or did it take a lot of time to learn that?

Yeah, there was a little period of time where I feel like I was wandering a little bit.

Do you know what made the difference for you?

Like, late 20s. Probably like a year ago. [Laughs] No, but much later was when I started to feel like I was owning my own career and able to communicate what I wanted. It's part of just growing up.

So it wasn't a role in particular?

No, I think it was a period of time. Maybe around Dexter, but also-- It's A Disaster, it's such a nice affirmation to have it out now, and people responding well to it too. I remember saying to my agents, "I really believe in these guys."

Julia Stiles has told how she ended up broke and stranded in Cuba last month (Dec10) after she ran out of cash during a charity trip. The actress flew out to Havana to help a humanitarian aid group, but her visit ended in disaster in December (10) as her funds ran low and she found herself unable to access her American bank accounts.

She writes in the Wall Street Journal, "With three days left to go in my trip, I was walking around Havana flat broke... I figured when my cash supply got low, I'd simply slow down my spending. With funds dwindling, I realized I had miscalculated the cost of my lodging, and forgotten about the exit fee at the airport. Cuba is not a place where one can access American banks or use credit cards, so if you run out of cash you cannot get anything. You can't even get off the island."

Stiles reveals she found out about her Golden Globes nomination for her role in Dexter during the final days of her trip, and the honor felt meaningless because of her situation: "There I was, thrilled to have received such a professional honor, yet still unable to barter it for cab fare." Stiles was eventually able to borrow some money to pay her way, and she admits the experience taught her a valuable lesson. She adds, "With all of its crumbling beauty, Havana taught me the true value of a dollar. It also taught me that the people you know, and the ways in which you rely on one another, are more valuable than any paper currency."

Now that the Rachel McAdams/Black Cat rumors have been squashed, on to a new one! The new Spider-Man 4 villain will be an actress who’s come back from the dead to torture humanity by taking over the airwaves and continually broadcasting The Prince & Me. Okay, I’m half-joking, but that’d be a pretty damn scary villain.

According to UGO, Julia Stiles had a chat with the Spider-Man 4 casting company. Other than playing Nicky Parsons in the Bourne movies, Stiles hasn’t had a substantial role in quite some time. She’s long overdue for a leading role and playing the Black Cat could be exactly what she needs to get her back in the spotlight.

As with any Spider-Man 4 news, I’m branding this article with a major question mark. With Spidey rumors flooding every corner of the Internet, it’s impossible to tell fact from fiction. But, hey, there’s no harm in speculating. I, for one, would love to see Stiles return with a bang. She’s certainly hit a romcom lull, so why not have her do a complete 180 and wow us as a supervillain?
