I had a lot of hopes and a few expectations going into The Devil Wears Prada 2, but when it came to new additions to the cast, I was mostly just curious as to how they'd fit in. Turns out, there was one character in the 2026 movie that totally caught me off guard -- mostly in a good way. While the 2026 sequel brought many of the main characters from the original film back, there were some notable cast additions this time around, including Simone Ashley, Caleb Hearon, Lucy Liu, Rachel Bloom, and Kenneth Branagh, all of whom were fantastic. However, it was Justin Theroux's goofy billionaire Benji Barnes who threw me for a loop.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 spoilers ahead!

"I can't believe there's someone named Candle." - Benji

Despite being massively successful financially, billionaire Benji really doesn't come off as the brightest guy, though he has no shortage of thoughts and opinions to share. He's clearly a fish-out-of-water on Emily's arm (more on that situation in a minute), standing out in his attempts to mingle with the glamorous fashion people, but I'm not going to fault him for that. As someone who would also struggle socially at formal galas and glitzy fashion shows, no judgment from me there. It's the stuff that comes out of Benji's mouth -- and Theroux's bold delivery of those lines -- that had me laughing out loud.

Like when he thought they were talking about someone named "Candle" when the name Kendall (presumably Jenner) came up in conversation. Or how he explained that he was running on an "aqua deficit" by abstaining from drinking water. And then there was the opinion he confidently shared about why they should be sending people to explore the sun instead of Mars. To the sun. On a ship called Icarus. When Emily attempted to explain the moral of the mythological Greek character's disastrous attempt to reach the sun, he promptly shut her down.

"I just like him like a bar of soap." - Emily

Theroux's character is revealed to be dating Emily, which is one of the ways he fits into the story. Maybe it was wishful thinking on my part, having adored Emily by the end of the first movie, but some part of me hoped she and Benji would turn out to be couple goals, and that her relationship with the recently divorced billionaire was evidence that she was doing pretty ok for herself.

They seemed smitten with each other from the moment we learned they were together, but with each scene that followed, it became increasingly clear that the foundation of this romance was pretty superficial. While he showed Emily his affection with his wallet, purchasing lavish jewelry and trying to purchase Runway during their trip to Italy, Emily's form of affection seemed to focus on her insistent contributions toward his ongoing physical transformation. If ever anyone were to admire Benji's lack of ear hair (or body hair), they'd apparently have Emily to thank.

"The future just comes rushing at us like... well, like the lava of Pompeii." - Benji

Though Benji appeared to exist in the movie predominantly as comic relief, he turned out to be a major obstacle after we learned Emily and Andy were scheming to get him to buy Runway. It seemed like a good idea from Andy's point of view until she found out Emily and Miranda had unresolved conflict over Miranda's role in Emily's departure from Runway. As it turns out, the former assistant's part in this whole scheme wasn't to help Miranda, but to defeat her. Once that info came to light, it was clear that Benji owning Runway was going to be a total disaster, not just for Miranda, who would be ousted, but also for the magazine's future.

Fortunately, the rug got pulled out from under Benji and Emily before that could happen, but this close-call was a startling reminder of how someone with a lot of money and no shortage of terrible ideas can really throw a wrench in things. Fortunately, Andy and Miranda managed to encourage Sasha Barnes (Lucy Liu) to buy Elias Clarke, a purchase that included Runway. Benji's Runway purchase fell apart, as did his relationship with Emily, which was just as well. Emily clearly still has room to grow, but she seems to realize that, so I think she's better off without him.

In the meantime, claps for Justin Theroux for bringing so much goofiness to his character. His nonsensical, often out-of-place comments were one of the things I loved most about The Devil Wears Prada 2. Of course, when I wasn't laughing, I was feeling especially emotional over that heartbreaking scene involving Miranda and Nigel, and I'm with Riley in reeling over that savage callback to the first movie with one line from Miranda.

With the movie only recently coming to theaters, it'll probably be a little bit before we can see it available on the list of new movies streaming, but I can't wait to watch it again when it is!

The entertainment world lost a legend, as the shocking news of Catherine O’Hara’s death came Friday. The actress known for TV and movies including in Home Alone, Best in Show, Schitt’s Creek and so many others unquestionably affected countless people over her five-decade career. And former co-stars including Macaulay Culkin, Pedro Pascal and Michael McKean are paying tribute to the comedy icon.

One of Catherine O’Hara’s most beloved roles was as Kate McCallister in Home Alone — a Christmastime staple and one of the best movies of the ‘90s overall. I’m not even sure it’s possible to say the name, “Kevin!” without doing your best O’Hara impression. Macaulay Culkin — Kevin McCallister himself — took to Instagram with a photo from the movie and another from a more recent reunion between him and O’Hara, penning a heartbreaking message to his on-screen mother:

One of Catherine O’Hara’s last roles was on The Last of Us Season 2, and Pedro Pascal shared a sweet photo of the two of them on set, writing that there is “less light in my world” without her in it:

The actress was a regular in Christopher Guest’s mockumentaries like A Mighty Wind and Best in Show, making Michael McKean a somewhat frequent co-star. The This Is Spinal Tap actor wrote on X upon hearing the news:

Not many details about Catherine O’Hara’s passing were immediately available, with a rep confirming to Rolling Stone only that she died at her home in Los Angeles “after a brief illness.”

It’s unclear how this will affect The Studio Season 2, as production kicked off just last week on what will be known as her final role. Ike Barinholtz — one of her co-stars on the award-winning comedy — posted a photo to Instagram to say how “incredibly grateful” he is to have known her:

Justin Theroux is among the many big names announced to be in The Devil Wears Prada 2. Here’s what he said about Streep to Variety:

If you’re clued on the behind-the-scenes details for the original The Devil Wears Prada, you might know that Meryl Streep decided to stay in character the whole time the first time around, and that “made her so miserable,” according to Emily Blunt. We don’t expect that she’ll do the same thing this time around because she said it was the “last time” she ever attempted “a Method thing” (via IndieWire) since it made her feel isolated from the cast.

Theroux’s words about working with Streep sounds like he’s feeling very lucky to be in the same room as the Oscar winner, and watch her work. Duh! Of course at this point he can only say so much, but I'm excited by the idea that everyone "knew" what they were making.

Aside from giving us a little something about working with Streep, Theroux also briefly described his character. The Leftovers actor said he’s playing a “forward-leaning, rich and stupid” character whom he had a “blast” playing. It sounds like his new character fits right into the world of the film, where affluent fashion icons are everywhere you look.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 will also star Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling, along with Kenneth Branagh playing Miranda’s new husband. There’s also a lot of other newcomers to the cast aside from Theroux like Brigerton’s Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Caleb Hearon, B.J. Novak and Rachel Bloom. Even Lady Gaga is in the movie! The sequel began filming over the summer and wrapped back in October. During production, there’s been a lot of concerns about fans spoiling outfits when they’ve been spotted filming. Blunt called all the attention the movie is getting to the cast feeling like “zoo exhibits.” We’ve seen some outfits from Streep, Hathaway and Blunt, but we’ve yet to see a photo of Theroux’s character. Everything will be revealed when the movie releases on May 1, 2026.

A couple of days ago, Aniston posted an image of herself with Jim Curtis, the hypnotherapist she’s reportedly been dating since at least the summer. The Instagram post celebrating Curtis’ birthday —her first official post about the relationship —has since garnered more than 1.5 million likes.

Buried among those million-plus likes are numerous celebrities, including Rachel Zegler, her Morning Show co-star Reese Witherspoon, and Kaley Cuoco, but most notable among them is Justin Theroux. The pair were together from 2011 to 2017, but according to all reports, and each other, the pair have remained friendly despite the relationship ending. This isn't the first time Theroux has expressed his positive feelings for Aniston on Instagram.

Of course, that’s seemingly been the case with all of Aniston’s relationships. While a lot of ink has been spilled over Aniston’s relationship with Brad Pitt, perhaps because the relationship that followed that one for Pitt has remained in the headlines for years since, all indications are that things are amicable between them as well, with Pitt even attending Aniston’s birthday party in past years.

Jim Curtis Posted His Own Tribute To His New Love

Of course the birthday party of importance now is somebody else’s. While the world may not know who Jim Curtis is, now that everybody knows who his girlfriend is, that’s likely going to change very quickly. Now that the cat’s out of the bag, he made his own Instagram post to make the relationship official, and called it all a “dream.”

Perhaps the fact that Curtis isn’t another celebrity, at least not yet, will have an impact on the way the media and the fans watch this relationship unfold. While many celebrities end up together with other celebrities, if for no other reason than that’s who they meet at work, plenty of stars have gotten together with people outside the limelight.

There will still be plenty of people, both fans are media, who keep tabs on this new relationship just ot see where it goes. What’s clear now is that both Jennifer Aniston and Jim Curtis are very happy, and that’s all that really matters.

The first trailer for Fallout Season 2 is here, and with it came its premiere date on the 2025 TV schedule and one huge question. So, as we celebrate its December 17 launch, let’s also talk about the massive inquiry I now have about Justin Theroux’s character, Robert House, and his potential relationship with Walton Goggins’ Ghoul.

So, in the first teaser trailer for Fallout Season 2, we’re introduced to Mr. House, and we see him interact with Cooper Howard, the human version of Goggins’ character. It appears that this story from the past will overlap with The Ghoul and Lucy’s trip to New Vegas, and create parallel stories between before and after the bombs, like we saw in Season 1.

That leads me to question: Will Mr. House be involved in The Ghoul’s present story? In the trailer, we see plenty of him interacting with Cooper, but is there a chance he’s still alive in the present and can meet The Ghoul?

In the voice-over on the promo for one of Amazon Prime’s best shows, Goggins’ Ghoul can be heard talking about how all this started with “one man.” It flashes back to Cooper Howard’s trip to Las Vegas before he turned into a ghoul, and him presumably meeting Mr. House, who knows “everything.”

Mr. House then claims that Cooper is a violent person who “just doesn’t want to kill [him], yet,” in full, he says:

So, has Mr. House survived somehow? Will he be reunited with Goggins’ character, who is no longer the human he once was in every sense of the word? Will The Ghoul kill Mr. House hundreds of years later?

Considering The Ghoul has survived over 200 years, I don’t think it’s far-fetched to think Mr. House has lived that long, too. Which makes me, someone who has not played the games, wonder how he did that and what the implications will be when these two maybe meet again.

Thanks to a GQ story about Theroux’s casting, I now know that Robert House is a big character in the New Vegas game, and I’m aware that he predicted the apocalypse and built a defense to protect his city. The report notes that The Leftovers’ actor will “play him, in flashbacks before the end of the world.” However, I can’t help but wonder if he’ll somehow be present in the, well, present as well.

It’s also revealed that Theroux shot for a month or two and “almost everything” he worked on was with Goggins. However, it’s also noted that it’s unclear if House will show up in any of the present scenes. So, let me reiterate my question: Will Robert House share any scenes with The Ghoul, not Cooper Howard, The Ghoul?

Thankfully, we’ll find out soon when Fallout finally returns to those with an Amazon Prime subscription on December 17. Walton Goggins has said Season 2 “blows” Season 1 out of the water, and this trailer certainly made me believe that, because I cannot wait to see more of this mysterious new character and his relationship with Cooper Howard and potentially, The Ghoul.

There are plenty of great sports movies available to stream on Netflix right now, but what about sports comedy series? Mindy Kaling is one of the creators of the new Netflix show Running Point, which just hit the 2025 TV schedule. Critics had the chance to screen the series — which stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, who unexpectedly is made president of her family’s basketball team — and the reviews are mixed.

Running Point — streaming now with a Netflix subscription — boasts a fun cast that, in addition to Kate Hudson, includes Drew Tarver (The Other Two), Scott MacArthur (The Mick) and Justin Theroux. However, Kristen Baldwin of EW says their collective comedic talents are wasted on uninspired writing and unlikeable characters. She gives the series a C-, writing:

Hanna Ines Flint of IGN agrees this story inspired by (and executive produced by) the L.A. Lakers’ Jeanie Buss is an unremarkable addition to the sports comedy genre with a hackneyed take on women breaking the glass ceiling. The critic rates it a “Mediocre” 5 out of 10 and says:

Not all critics were calling fouls on the basketball comedy. Alison Herman of Variety says the interesting premise and charismatic cast should be enough to earn Running Point a second season and the chance to further develop its characters and go deeper into the family’s complicated dynamic. Herman writes:

Leah Marilla Thomas of AV Club also hopes to see Running Point renewed after being pleased overall with the result, especially the thrilling finale. Thomas gives the series a grade of B+, calling Kate Hudson “winning” and “hilarious” in this smart sports sitcom. The critic continues:

Ben Travers of IndieWire, however, connects more with the first critics, calling it an “office comedy built with the general blandness of most broadcast TV.” With some swearing, of course. It also wastes Kate Hudson’s talent, Travers says, as he gives it a C- and writes:

Many critics compared Running Point as something like Succession meets Ted Lasso, so if any part of this sounds like a series you want to check out, the entire 10-episode first season is available to stream now on Netflix.

Ryan Gosling has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and so it makes sense he would open a restaurant in Beverly Hills. Co-owned by the Barbie star and Chef Ben Benameur, the Moroccan joint serves up delicious food in a cozy atmosphere.

Lady Gaga - Joanne Trattoria

Joanne Germanotta was a beloved aunt to Lady Gaga (whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta). Not only did Gaga name a 2016 album after her, but the family has also opened Joanne Trattoria on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. In true Gaga style, the restaurant is not only a great place for Italian food, but it supports local artists, hosts regular drag shows, and has regular performances by local musicians. 

Robert De Niro - Nobu

Robert De Niro first became a regular at chef Nobu Matsuhisa's LA sushi joint Nobu way back in the 1980s. In the mid-90s, De Niro approached Matsuhisa about opening a New York spot. Nobu opened in 1994 in Tribeca and the company has since become a powerhouse in the hospitality industry, with dozens of restaurants and hotels all over the world. 

Michael Imperioli - Scarlet

White Lotus star Michael Imperioli has dabbled in the restaurant industry for a long time. In the mid-'90s Imperioli and his wife opened a speakeasy-style bar called Ciel Rouge, in Tribeca. Almost 30 years later, and 20 after Ciel Rouge closed in 2005, the couple opened Scarlet on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It sticks with the classy, chill speakeasy vibe that made their first venture successful. 

Sandra Bullock - Walton's Fancy & Staple

Walton's Fancy & Staple in Austin, TX, is pretty much exactly what you would expect from Sandra Bullock. It's an upscale neighborhood place with hearty food and a cheery atmosphere. Walton's is the Speed star's second restaurant in her adopted hometown. The first, Bess Bistro, closed in 2016 after a successful 10-year run. Walton's opened in 2009.

Is there anything better than good fried chicken and great beer to wash it down? If you're in Atlanta and don't check out Ludacris' place, simply named Chicken and Beer, you're missing out on those two wonderful things that pair so well together.

Norman Reedus - Nic & Norman's

Norman Reedus is famous for playing rough-around-the-edges characters like Daryl in The Walking Dead, but his restaurant is not. Nic & Norman's, which has locations across the Southeast is rustic, but it's not rough in any way. The upscale but relaxed gastropubs are sure to satisfy anyone. 

Susan Sarandon - SPiN

When Susan Sarandon and her fellow investors opened SPiN in 2009, there was a surge in the popularity of table tennis (or ping pong). The fad was pretty short-lived, but the table tennis-focused restaurants have remained successful with multiple locations around the country. 

Dan Aykroyd - House Of Blues

One of Dan Aykroyd's most beloved SNL characters, Elwood Blues of The Blues Brothers, has proven to be more than just a role for the actor. On Thanksgiving Day 1992, Aykroyd and his partner Isaac Tigrett (who founded the Hard Rock Cafe), opened the first House of Blues in Cambridge, MA. It has since grown into one of the largest chains of live music venues in the world, and serves some pretty delicious food, too. 

Eva Longoria - Beso

Eva Longoria can do no wrong on the big and small screens, but she didn't have much luck in the restaurant industry. Her steakhouse in LA, Beso, ran into multiple problems in its short run, though none were the fault of the actress. 

Kevin Hart - Hart House

Kevin Hart's LA chain Hart House was ambitious. He wanted to create an affordable vegan chain, and despite rave reviews, it just couldn't make it in the market. The company closed all of its locations in 2024 after initially finding success. 

Issa Rae - Hilltop Coffee And Kitchen

Issa Rae is a true force of nature both in front of and behind the camera. She's also found success in the food industry. Hilltop Coffee And Kitchen brings high-end coffee vibes to historical Black neighborhoods in LA, like Inglewood and View Park. 

Danny Trejo - Trejo's Tacos

Everyone loves tacos and every loves Danny Trejo. So of course a concept like Trejo's Tacos is sure to work and it has succeeded greatly. The chain has multiple locations across LA and has even spawned a second concept: Trejo's Donuts which also opened to rave reviews. 

Channing Tatum - Saints And Sinners

Saints And Sinners, a bar on Bourbon Street in New Orleans co-owned by Channing Tatum was a wild success... at least for a time. The industry is notoriously fickle and Tatum and his partners learned that the hard way when the bar closed in the summer of 2024 after 12 great years. 

Justin Timberlake - The Twelve Thirty Club

Justin Timberlake first dabbled in the food industry in the early teens when he helped design a Memphis-style BBQ joint in New York City called Southern Hospitality. Though he wasn't an owner, he was involved in the concept phase of the place and was a regular there. More recently, he has teamed up with restauranteur Sam Fox to open The Twelve Thirty Club in Nashville. 

Nicholas Braun - Jac’s On Bond

Cousin Greg may not always get the most respect on Succession, but the actor who plays him, Nicholas Braun, sure gets respect in the hospitality industry. Braun is an investor in multiple restaurants in New York City, including a chill bar and restaurant called Jac's on Bond Street in the trendy NoHo neighborhood. 

Zach Braff - Mermaid Oyster Bar

MacDougal Street in New York's Greenwich Village is home to some great restaurants, like the legendary Caffe Reggio and Mamoun's Falafels. It's also where you can find Zach Braff's more upscale, but still laid-back seafood spot appropriately called Mermaid Oyster Bar. 

Anthony Mackie - NoBar

Like others on this list (and in the world), Anthony Mackie has had mixed results as a bar/restaurant owner. His most famous spot, NoBar, opened in Brooklyn in 2011, followed by a second Booklyn location in 2013. Sadly both closed in 2015. 

Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis - Planet Hollywood

The granddaddy of all actor-owned restaurants has to be Planet Hollywood. The first Planet Hollywood opened in New York City in 1991. Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis, among others, were all investors in the concept and, at least at first, the restaurant was a huge success, opening additional locations across the globe. At its peak, there were upwards of 60 locations in the late '90s, but the fun didn't last. Things started to unravel and the stars started to jump shit and most of the locations, other than their most successful ones, closed. 

Richard Gere - Bedford Post Inn

Legendary actor Richard Gere doesn't just own a restaurant, he owns an 8-room bed and breakfast called the Bedford Post Inn in... appropriately, Bedford, NY. The stylish and quaint inn does include a spot to eat, the Bedford Post Tavern, and the inn and the restaurant both draw all kinds of celebrities for a restful stay or a delicious dinner. 

Robert Redford - Zoom

It shouldn't come as any surprise to learn that Robert Redford's former restaurant in Park City, UT was home to a lot of home to a lot powerbrokers during the Sundance Film Festival for many years. Prior to closing in 2016, the hot spot was where the elite met to eat and strike deals during one of the biggest film festivals in the world. 

Hugh Jackman - Laughing Man Coffee

The origin story for Hugh Jackman's Laughing Man Coffee is one of the best on this list. The Aussie actor and his wife took a trip to Ethiopia to learn more about coffee and how the beans were grown. There, according to the coffee shop's website, Jackman met a coffee farmer named Dukale. Dukale gave Jackman a real hands-on experience and after the trip, he and some partners opened Laughing Man Coffee with the goal of working directly with farmers around the world to bring their coffee to New Yorkers. 

Jon Bon Jovi - Soul Kitchen And JBJ's

Jon Bon Jovi may be most famous for being the voice of the band named after him, but he's dabbled a lot in acting, and a little in the hospitality biz. His first venture was started by his foundation and called Soul Kitchen. The restaurant, located in Red Bank, NJ, sells food for whatever hungry customers can afford. Bon Jovi has also opened a spot on the famous Broadway strip in Nashville called JBJ's which features live music and a full menu, in addition to beer and booze, of course.

Piper Perabo - Jack's Wife Freda

Piper Perabo got her big break playing a bartender in Coyote Ugly and while the New York City chain she's an investor in, called Jack's Wife Frida, doesn't feature half-dressed women dancing on the bar, it's got something even better: delicious Mediterranean food. With five locations across the city, you can always find what you're craving, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 

Jessica Biel - Au Fudge

Au Fudge, which closed its doors in 2018, was something unique in the celebrity restaurant world - a kid's restaurant. As the name implies, Jessica Biel's spot was all about dessert and candy. It also had all the stuff kids love, like chicken fingers, on the menu. The world needs more of these, right parents?

Debi Mazar - The Tuscan Gun

Debi Mazar and her chef husband's love of food was first shown through a cooking show on the Cooking Channel. They spun that into a Tuscany-themed New York restaurant called The Tuscan Gun. Using chef Mazar's husband Gabriele Corcos' recipes, the Italian joint brought the best of Italy to Williamsburg. 

Quentin Tarantino - Do Hwa

For years, Quentin Tarantino's Korean restaurant Do Hwa brought the delicious flavors of East Asia to the West Village in New York. While very few people would call Tarantino "understated," his restaurant was, in all the best ways. It was cozy and delicious before it closed in 2018.

Jerry Ferrara - Fat Sal's

A sandwich joint called Fat Sal's is just perfect for Entourage star Jerry Ferrara. It sounds exactly like something Turtle would open on the show. Fat Sal's has multiple locations around LA and is a great spot if you want traditional deli sandwiches sold by a guy you can be sure loves them as much as you do. 

Justin Theroux - Ray's

While future MCU projects sadly won’t have any in-person Stan Lee cameos, we can always re-watch the Marvel movies in order to see the legendary comic writer. Before his death in 2018, Stan Lee made cameos in just about every Marvel project, whether it was from Marvel Studios, Fox or Sony.

When Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill was a kid he’d pretend that David Hasselhoff was his dad. So, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Hasselhoff was part of one of the songs on the soundtrack – “Guardians Inferno” –  and it plays during the end credits. And at the very end of those credits, you can see his face pop up as he says the final words of the song. Talk about an epic cameo.

Brett Goldstein As Hercules In Thor: Love and Thunder

In the post-credit scene for Thor: Love and Thunder, Brett Goldstein appeared as Hercules. In his brief scene, he was shown speaking with Russell Crowe’s Zeus. Before the Russo Brothers were making big fancy Marvel movies, they worked on Community. So, it’s always fun to see actors from that show pop up in the MCU. For example in Avengers: Endgame, Ken Jeong appeared for a quick cameo as a security guard who is watching over the storage unit that Ant-Man’s van is in.

Brad Pitt As The Vanisher In Deadpool 2

Now, I fully realize Deadpool 2 wasn’t technically in the MCU, but Deadpool and Wolverine is, so this counts. One of the most fun cameos maybe ever came when Brad Pitt appeared for a split second in the Ryan Reynolds-led sequel to play The Vanisher right as he gets electrocuted. 

Joe Russo As Grieving Man In Avengers: Endgame

Joe and Anthony Russo are best known as the guys behind the camera who led some of the best Marvel movies, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and, of course, Avengers: Endgame. So, in this big finale for the MCU’s Infinity Saga, Joe Russo made a cameo as part of Steve Rogers' support group.

When Wade Wilson was looking for a Wolverine to bring back to his universe, he came across one version of Logan who was played by Henry Cavill. After seeing fanart of the former Superman as the X-Man, it was clear he was a good fit for the part, and it was incredible to see Deadpool and Wolverine act on the fans’ wishes. 

As you can see the range of these cameos is wide, and frankly legendary. And we’re sure that as Marvel continues to release movies and TV shows, the iconic cameos will keep coming. 

Summer hasn't even arrived yet, but the spooky season vibes are living and thriving thanks to anticipation for Tim Burton's return to afterlife shenanigans with the upcoming sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which has finally dropped its first full-length trailer for horror-comedy fans around the world (and beyond). It's a step six feet up from the easter egg-filled teaser promo, and I still can't believe it's real.

Few upcoming horror movies have the bonafides of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, thanks to the original 1988 hit that turned black-and-white suits into a Halloween mainstay. And here's hoping the sequel 36 years in the making will be worth the wait. Not that B. would realize it, since time works a little differently in the afterlife. He still looks great, except for maybe when his face does that thing that makes people faint.

Even if the trailer would have been a big honking mess, I'm pretty sure fans would still line up in droves to see Michael Keaton back in black and white for a smorgas-corpse of ghoulish humor and puns better than the one I just lobbed out there. Keaton previously hyped up the movie as being "really fucking good," and I'm not gonna be the one to say he's wrong. Because the trailer looks flipping perfect.

So many callbacks to the good ol' days, from the striped sandworms of Saturn (and some sweet-looking animation) to Lydia's father Charles, whose death is what kicks off this return to glory for the ghost with the most to the familiarly tiny head of Harry the Hunter.

And check out this shot of Catherine O'Hara within the drudgery of the afterlife's waiting room, where she's sat next to a pair of....let's just call them interesting gents.

Beyond Keaton being back in all his gruff-voiced glory, the new pic brings Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara back as daughter Lydia and mother Delia Deetz, respectively, with Jenna Ortega joining the fray as the generational third, Astrid. Other co-stars include Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci (as Beetlejuice's sewn-up wife), Willem Dafoe and Burn Gorman. And wait a minute, who's this surprising new cast member? It's Danny DeVito, boyeeeeee!

Batman and The Penguin are back together again! Or at least Michael Keaton and DeVito are, even if they're not in the signature costumes they wore for Tim Burton's superhero sequel. This thing can't get more perfect, unless Michelle Pfeiffer is hiding somewhere.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice — which was nearly given the oddball homage title Beetlejuice 2024 A.D., which is legit name-checked on the title screen — is set to rise up into theaters on Friday, September 6, among many other big summer blockbusters hitting the 2024 movie schedule.

Ben Affleck

Sylvester Stallone

A handful of the best action movies of all time were written by none other than Sylvester Stallone, who has flexed his muscles in front of the camera and behind the scenes. All of the Rocky films (as well as Creed II) were written by Stallone, as were the Rambo flicks and pretty much most of his best big-screen ventures.

George Clooney

Greta Gerwig

Greta Gerwig has become famous for her Barbie screenplay (which was co-written by Noah Baumbach), but that's only one of the great scripts written by the talented actress. In addition to starring in several dozen movies over the years, Gerwig also penned modern gems like Frances Ha, Lady Bird, Mistress America and Little Women.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge

In addition to being a talented actress with multiple scene-stealing performances in movies like Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Solo: A Star Wars Story, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a talented writer. She created and penned the shows Fleabag and Killing Eve and received a partial writing credit for her contributions on No Time to Die.

Justin Theroux

Throughout his career, Justin Theroux has starred in movies like Mulholland Drive, Miami Vice and American Psycho. However, he also has some impressive screenwriting credits to his name. With work on Iron Man 2, Tropic Thunder, Rock of Ages and Zoolander 2, he has quite the body of work.

Emma Thompson

Emma Thompson is an actress with a great filmography, through which she's worked both in front of and behind the camera. In fact, Thompson has Academy Awards for  Best Actress (for Howards End) and Best Adapted Screenplay (for Sense and Sensibility). She’s also penned movies like Bridget Jones’s Baby, Last Christmas and the Nanny McPhee films.

Billy Bob Thornton 

Billy Bob Thornton is another actor who has won an Academy Award for writing, having scored a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for his work on Sling Blade, which he also starred in and directed. Over the years, some of Thornton's best movies -- like One False Move, A Family Thing, The Gift and Daddy and Them were also written by the actor himself.

Emerald Fennell

Kumail Nanjiani 

Kumail Nanjiani has starred in all kinds of movies over the years, with Eternals, Stuber and The Lovebirds being just a few of them. But Nanjiani also wrote the screenplay for The Big Sick, the 2018 romantic comedy inspired by the battles he and wife Emily V. Gordon faced early in their relationship.

Paul Rudd 

Paul Rudd not only starred in one of the best Marvel movies such as Ant-Man, he was also one the writers given credit for its screenplay (alongside Edgar Wright, Joe Cornish, and Adam McKay). But that wasn’t his first or last script, as Rudd contributed to Role Models and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Ethan Hawke 

Throughout his career, Ethan Hawke has starred in movies like Reality Bites, Boyhood, First Reformed and The Black Phone, among many others. To some Kenneth Branagh is arguably better known as a screenwriter than actor. Steve Coogan 

Steve Coogan is famous for his performances in the Night at the Museum movies, Tropic Thunder, 24 Hour Party People, and The Trip, but he’s also a talented writer. Over the years, Coogan has written movies like Philomena, The Lost King, The Parole Officer and Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.

Sarah Polley 

After making a name for herself as an actress with roles in movies like Go, The Weight of Water and the underrated Dawn of the Dead remake, Sarah Polley turned her jumped into the writer/director seat. Seth Rogen

This includes Celeste and Jesse Forever, the 2018 documentary, Quincy, which is about her dad -- music legend Quicy Jones. She also has a story credit for Toy Story 4 and wrote “Nosedive,” one of the best Black Mirror episodes.

Tom McCarthy 

Tom McCarthy is best known for writing and directing Spotlight, the riveting journalism movie that won Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay at the 88th Academy Awards. But while he was in the process of becoming an award-winning filmmaker, McCarthy put together a decent acting resume that included a memorable turn on The Wire (during the final season), Meet the Parents, Good Night, and Good Luck, Syriana and Michael Clayton.

Each of these nearly three-dozen actors has quite the resume, both in terms of on-screen performances and written work, making them more than deserving of any and all praise.

Sex and the City remains an incredibly culturally significant show. The reboot series, And Just Like That… has reignited the love for the show and rehashed some debates over the characters from the classic HBO series. Recently, the question as to who was the shows’ worst boyfriend was posed, with many celebrities like Mindy Kaling weighing in. What made it even better was when some I realized that some of the commenters hilariously were exes of the lead characters, who you may have forgotten guest starred on the show. 

Vanity Fair recently asked the Instagram community who the worst man was on the Manhattan set series. Turns out many people had a lot of opinions on the matter. Kaling may have given the hottest take of all, stating that Mr. Big (Carrie’s primary love interest on the show) was actually the worst boyfriend any of the cast had. She defended her point well, stating:

Honestly, she is so real for this. Carrie and Big’s will they/won’t they relationship ended up wearing on viewers after a while, and the relationship ended up becoming pretty toxic over the years. I bet there's even a chance that Kaling believes the shocking Peleton death of the character was for the best. 

Some alum on the show also gave their two cents. Justin Theroux, for example, gave a definitive answer to the question.

For context, Jared was a minor character Theroux played in Season 1 of the show, who has a brief fling with Carrie. The Leftovers star came back later to the show to play the more significant role of Vaughn, who was a writer that had a brief romance with the same character. For Theroux to come back to play a different character, and date the same girl, is pretty funny. Also, clearly, he has his favorites. 

Kyle MacLachlan, who played a partner of Charlotte’s, also weighed in. His character, Trey, is historically unpopular with Sex and the City fans due to his odd behavior and mommy issues. While the Twin Peaks star has also expressed his own hate for Trey, he decided to defend his character against the influx of Trey trolling in the comments. He said:

Celebrities like Ellie Goulding, Lena Waithe and Katie Couric also provided comments and passionate replies, naming universally hated characters like Aidan and Berger. Both of these characters were love interests of Carrie’s that demonstrated heaps of toxic masculinity behavior. I think it’s safe to say Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha all dated some terrible men, and there are valid reasons for disliking most of their boyfriends.

After making his film debut in 1985 with Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, Tim Burton followed up the Paul Reubens-led feature with 1988’s Beetlejuice, the kooky fantasy horror comedy that marked his first collaboration with Michael Keaton, with the two teaming up soon after for Batman. For decades, Beetlejuice was simply a standalone movie, but over the last several years, a sequel has been making steady progress forward. Well, good news for those of you looking forward to Beetlejuice 2, which has looped in Jenna Ortega: not only does it have an official release date, there’s a new casting to share.

First things first, Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Beetlejuice 2 will open in theaters on September 6, 2024. That’s the same day the upcoming Marvel movie Blade is set to come out, although considering that the Mahershala Ali-led feature has paused preproduction, it’s possible it will end up being delayed. In any case, Beetlejuice 2 now joins a lineup of other spooky-themed Warner Bros. Pictures has released on Labor Day weekend, with others including the IT movies and The Nun.

Along with that official piece of information, Deadline reports that Justin Theroux has been added to the Beetlejuice 2 cast, though no details have been revealed. He’s the fourth actor now attached to the sequel, with Michael Keaton reprising the title character, Winona Ryder back as Lydia Deetz and Jenna Ortega playing Lydia’s daughter. Theroux’s notable credits include Mulholland Drive, The Leftovers and The Mosquito Coast, and HBO viewers/HBO Max subscribers can currently see him starring opposite Woody Harrelson in White House Plumbers.

Additionally, Beetlejuice 2 will see Tim Burton back in the director’s chair, reuniting him not just with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, but also Jenna Ortega, as they previously worked together on Wednesday, the popular Netflix series she almost passed on. For Justin Theroux, however, this will be his first time collaborating with the filmmaker. Deadline’s article mentioned that production on the sequel will begin Wednesday in the United Kingdom, and Alfred Gough and Miles Millar wrote the screenplay’s most recent draft.

There’s been talk of making Beetlejuice 2 stretching back to 1990, when a script titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian was written, but the current iteration of the sequel started gaining traction in the mid-2010s, only for Warner Bros. to shelve in in 2019. However, three years later, the studio announced that the Beetlejuice sequel was back on, with Keaton and Ryder officially on board. It’s unclear if any other familiar faces from the first movie will be back, and we remain in the dark on what this follow-up story will be about.

After two years of marriage and seven years together Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux split up in 2018. However, even though their marriage is over, it doesn’t mean their friendship ended. Now, The Mosquito Coast actor has shared that he and his ex-wife are on friendly terms with each other, and he explained why his lips are sealed when it comes to publicly talking about her.

While JustinTheroux does not talk much about Jennifer Aniston, in a recent interview he briefly opened up about his relationship with her.  During an interview with Esquire, the 51-year-old actor spoke about how he would prefer to be in platonic communication with Aniston, and would rather not speak publically about her. The actor explained:

I give this Emmy Award winner a lot of credit for that. There have been a number of rocky relationships in Hollywood that have ended with an ugly public fallout. Thankfully, this ex-couple would prefer to be on good terms with each other. 

They first met working together on the comedy Wanderlust, which is a movie about a married couple who find themselves on a hippie commune run by Theroux’s character, Seth. Then in 2012, Theroux proposed to Jennifer Aniston on his 41st birthday which left the Friends star in tears right after. He decided to keep his proposal “simple” by asking for her hand in marriage during a lunch date in Greenwich Village. 

Unfortunately, it was reported back in 2018 that Aniston and Theroux’s marriage ended. There was a rumor that one big reason for the Wanderlust co-stars' split was because the Meet the Millers actress wanted to stay in L.A., while her Wanderlust co-star wanted to stay in New York. Theroux, on the other hand, said that the real reason for the divorce was much more complex than that. However, the Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle actor shared his take on their break up in 2021, addressing the rumors about him and Aniston, and making it clear they're still friends, he said:

This proves how much Justin Theroux really cares about his ex-wife, and he's continued to do so by doing things like wishing her well on her 52nd birthday in 2021. When the actor spoke before about their “painless” breakup, the Rock of Ages writer said there was no animosity between them, and they have been navigating their shifting friendship outside of marriage. With no bad blood between these two, it definitely makes their friendship a lot easier to maintain.

I give Justin Theroux a lot of respect for wanting to keep Jennifer Aniston’s name out of public interviews (except, of course, to say that he won’t be talking about her). It appears he’s followed the advice that Jason Bateman once gave him about not caring what the headlines say.

Before she was in the Living Single cast, future Academy Award nominee Queen Latifah shared the screen with fellow rapper-turned-actor Will Smith on two episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1991. On the premiere season of Sex and the City, Justin Theroux appeared as Jared - Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) post-Mr. Big rebound - before showing up again the following season as Vaughn Wysel -  Carrie’s writer boyfriend whose stories are short, just like his bedroom stamina. The star of HBO’s The Leftovers explained on an episode of People Magazine’s Couch Surfing how he prepared for his second role on the iconic romantic-comedy series by shaving his head.

However, die-hard Whovians may recall when the Scotsman and The Suicide Squad cast member appeared opposite the Tenth Doctor, David Tenant, in 2008 as a man The Doctor saves from Vesuvius’ eruption named Caecilius.

Karen Gillan On Doctor Who (Soothsayer, Amy Pond)

In the same 2008 episode of Doctor Who in which Peter Capaldi made his first appearance in a different role, future Marvel movie star Karen Gillan also made her debut on the cult favorite series as a soothsayer who gained psychic powers from breathing in dust from the volcano, Vesuvius. Two years later, the Scottish actress was cast as Amy Pond, who would accompany Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor on adventures until 2012.

Ted McGinley On Married… With Children (Norman Jablonsky, Jefferson D'Arcy)

On Married… with Children (which some believe is due for a revival), the Bundy Family’s next-door neighbor, Marcy (Amanda Bearse), was married twice - the second time to Jefferson D’Arcy, who was played by Ted McGinley after he joined the cast in Season 5. The previous season, he appeared in a holiday episode inspired by It’s a Wonderful Life in which Al (Ed O’Neill) is shown an alternate reality where Peg (Katey Segal) is, instead, married to a more successful, better looking man named Norman Jablonsky (McGinley).  

Terry O’Quinn On The X-Files (Lt. Brian Tillman, Shadow Man)

Emmy winner Terry O’Quinn, best known from the Lost cast, has starred in a number of series created by Chris Carter - including one of the best ’90 shows, The X-Files, as both a police lieutenant in Season 2  and a super-soldier who tries to kill Scully (Gillian Anderson) in Season 9. He was also a regular on another supernatural series by Carter called Millennium, which once crossed over with The X-Files - meaning O’Quinn has really played three characters within this same universe.

Garret Dillahunt On Deadwood (Jack McCall, Francis Wolcott)

Garett Dillahunt is one of the few names on our list who, instead of just two guest appearances, can claim to have two different, multi-episode recurring roles in the Deadwood cast. He played the crooked-nosed murderer Jack McCall in the HBO series’ first season, before returning in Season 2 as geologist Francis Wolcott. He even made an uncredited cameo in the series’ feature-length continuation from 2019 as random drunk.

S. Epatha Merkerson On Law & Order (Mrs. Denise Winters, Lieutenant Anita Van Buren)

Emmy winner S. Epatha Merkerson, who went on to be a staple of the One Chicago franchise, is best known for playing Lt. Anita Van Buren on Law & Order from 1993 to 2010. Yet, her first role on the iconic crime drama was as the mother of two young shooting victims in the the series’ premiere season.

Paget Brewster On Community (Debra Chambers, Frankie Dart)

During Paget Brewster’s temporary absence from the Criminal Minds cast, she had a starring role on Community as Frankie Dart - a consultant hired to help improve things on the Greendale campus. There is a clever joke from Season 6 of creator Dan Harmon’s cult favorite comedy when Frankie claims to have some bizarre trouble when trying to reach out to Greendale’s I.T. department head, Debra Chambers - whom Brewster also played in the previous season.

James Cromwell On Barney Miller (Sgt. Wilkinson, Neil Spencer, Jason Parrish, Dr. Edmund Danworth)

The producers of Barney Miller (one of funniest and best classic mystery shows) cast several actors in multiple guest appearances over its eight seasons, including Oscar nominee James Cromwell. He first appeared as a police sergeant in 1977, a representative of the department of energy two years later, and both a corporate representative and stress researcher in 1981.

Denise Dowse On Beverly Hills, 90210 (Professor Harriet Welkman, Mrs. Teasley)

Years before appearing on the hit HBO comedy Insecure or FX’s acclaimed crime drama Snowfall, Denise Dowse appeared on a total of 24 episodes as part of the Beverly Hills, 90210 cast from 1990 to 2000. In 23 of those episodes, she played West Beverly Hills High School vice principal Yvonne Teasley, and also played a college professor in an episode of Season 1, which was also her first.

Diane Neal On Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (Amelia Chase, A.D.A. Casey Novak)

Diane Neal has starred on the crime procedural spin-off Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (initially as a regular and later in recurring and guest appearances) as Casey Novak - an assistant district attorney who also appeared in an episode of the short-lived Law & Order: Trial By Jury. The actress has actually played two characters in this universe - the first being a stockbroker convicted of the rape and murder of a male stripper who staged the murder of her accomplice as a suicide, on SVU’s third season.

Freema Agyeman On Doctor Who (Adeloa Oshodi, Martha Jones)

Before joining the New Amsterdam cast and starring in The Matrix Revolutions, Freema Agyeman first appeared with the Doctor Who cast as Torchwood technician Adeloa Oshodi in 2006. The following year, she was cast as Martha Jones - a companion to David Tenant’s Tenth Doctor - who was later revealed to be Adeloa’s cousin to explain the resemblance between the two.

Christa Miller On Seinfeld (Ellen De Granmont, Paula)

If her starring roles on The Drew Carey Show, with the Scrubs cast, and on Cougar Town do not earn Christa Miller the right to be called sitcom royalty, how about her two disparate guest roles on one of the most celebrated sitcoms of all time, Seinfeld? Miller contributes to two memorable George Costanza moments - the first being when she cost Jason Alexander’s iconic character a bra salesman position after a disastrous attempt at hitting on her in Season 5. In Season 6, she played a woman already dating George, but her unflattering doodle of him suddenly makes him unsure if her affection is genuine.

Nelson Franklin on The Office (Graphic Design Guy, Nick)

Comedian and Being the Ricardos star Nelson Franklin is known for having notable recurring roles on a number of sitcoms, including with The Office cast as Dunder Mifflin-Sabre’s begrudgingly overlooked IT guy, Nick, in Season 6. Two seasons earlier, he appeared in the episode “Job Fair” as a graphic design expert whom Pam (Jenna Fischer) approaches with interest in the field.

Sean Gunn On Angel (Mars, Lucas)

Before his older brother, James Gunn, cast him in multiple roles in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies (namely Kraglin and Rocket Raccoon, for whom he performed the mo-cap), Sean Gunn play two different characters in the first season of the David Boreanaz-led Buffy spin-off, Angel. The future Gilmore Girls cast member first played a spa manager helping an inter-dimensional demon princess hide other women of her kind from the males who enslave them, before returning a few episodes later as a demon himself - specifically the kind that Angel’s ally, Allen Doyle (Glenn Quinn), is a descendent of on his father’s side.

Hayden Panettiere On Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (Ashley Austin Black, Angela Agnelli)

Back when she was still best known for Disney movies like A Bug’s Life and Remember the Titans, Hayden Panettiere guest-starred on Season 2 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as the surviving young daughter of two singers accused of neglecting their recently deceased son. Right before joining the Heroes cast made her a household name, the actress and singer appeared on the spin-off’s sixth season as a Catholic high school student whose participation in a sex tape also featuring her classmate and an adult doctor, drove her to murder.

James Jordan On Veronica Mars (Lucky, Tim Foyle)

Years before joining the Yellowstone cast as Steve Hendon, one of James Jordan’s first major TV characters was Tim Foyle - a rival of Kristen Bell’s titular hero from the Veronica Mars cast who appeared in seven episodes, including the 2019 revival season. However, Jordan actually starred in a total of 10 episodes of the hit mystery drama and, for his first three, played a Neptune High janitor ironically named Lucky, who was shot and killed by a school security guard after showing up with an unloaded gun after he was fired.

Michael Cudlitz On CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (Officer William Spencer, Josh Barston)

Earlier in his career, former The Walking Dead cast member Michael Cudlitz made a guest appearance on each of the first three editions of the CSI franchise (and each time as a different character, too), but the original is the only one on which he appeared twice. His first played a cop driven to crime by greed in Season 2, and later played a contractor driven to murder by love in Season 9.

BONUS: Kali Rocha On Buffy The Vampire Slayer (Cecily Addams, Halfrek - Confirmed To Be The Same Character)

For years, it was debated among fans of Buffy of the Vampire Slayer whether or not Kali Rocha's roles of Cecily Addams - a 19th Century socialite whose rejection of Spike (James Marsters) resulted in his vampirism - and the vengeance demon Halfrek were the same person. Writer Drew Goddard would confirm in a DVD commentary track (via ScreenRant) that the theory is, indeed, true, which we have chosen to mention as a bonus item on this list just in case there were any fans who may have needed clarification.

Let this list be a lesson to any aspiring actor to never take a TV guest appearance or small recurring role for granted. It could be the first of many appearances on that show alone or could get you promoted to a regular position.

In modern comic book movies, cameos are not only a regular source of fun for audiences, but also commonly used as a storytelling tool. With series often planned out in advance, filmmakers have sometimes used special appearances by known actors as a means of teasing future chapters – with the perfect example being Samuel L. Jackson's debut as Nick Fury in the first Iron Man. All that being said, if you happen to be a person who is expecting to see more from Justin Theroux in Joker 2 following his extremely minor part in Todd Phillips' villain origin tale, we have some bad news for you.

With news recently circulating about Joker 2 taking steps towards becoming a reality, The Hollywood Reporter recently asked Justin Theroux if he was in any way "vying" for a role in the project, and the actor essentially shut that talk down. According to the Mosquito Coast star, he hasn't been in contact with Todd Phillips in a long time, and he doesn't personally see a path towards bringing his character back. Said Theroux,

In Joker, Justin Theroux plays an actor named Ethan Chase... but if you didn't know that it's not exactly a sleight against your comic book movie knowledge. It's a case of a cameo being less of a "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" appearance and more of a case of "squint-or-you'll-miss-it." As seen in the screenshot at the top of this article, he only shows up for a few seconds in the film, and he's only ever featured on a television screen as a guest on an episode of Murray Franklin's talk show (Arthur Fleck watches and imitates him as he prepares for his own appearence).

For what it's worth, there is a bit more to Justin Theroux's Joker cameo beyond a familiar face being featured in a sly way. In Todd Phillips' 2010 movie Due Date, Zach Galifianakis plays an actor named Ethan Tremblay who travels across the country to move to Los Angeles – and his plan is to perform under the stage name Ethan Chase.

As for what's happening with Joker 2... there isn't much to report. Todd Phillips has apparently made a deal that will see him return to co-write the sequel, but we have no idea what the movie will be about, or how long it will be before it's a project that is ready to go into production. There's a lot of anticipation for more information, however, so we'll surely get more updates soon.

Look, sometimes families are weird. Not everyone in a familial unit will always agree on the right or wrong way to do things, and while any tension which may come from that is usually internal, often this will not be the case if several family members are actually famous. The Leftovers star (and Jennifer Aniston's ex) Justin Theroux found this out recently, when his uncle publicly called him out for pronouncing his very own last name wrong.

If you're wondering why any media outlet was talking to Justin Theroux's uncle, Paul Theroux, then it's likely that you're unaware that the older man wrote the novel The Mosquito Coast, which is relatively understandable, as the book came out in 1981. The elder Theroux's story was made into a 1986 film starring Harrison Ford, and now Theroux's nephew is leading a television adaptation for Apple TV+. In a new featurette on the show, which was posted to the streamer's YouTube page, Theroux put his younger relative on blast for openly pronouncing their surname wrong, and noted:

Aw, man! Just when we all thought we had someone's name correct, Paul Theroux comes along and sets us straight! Now, Theroux seemed to at least have a bit of a sense of humor about Justin Theroux saying their name wrong (he did laugh a little bit while explaining the mistake), but it's clear that Justin and his uncle Paul have at least one difference they may not be able to come to an agreement on.

As the novelist, who also executive produced The Mosquito Coast series alongside his nephew, explained, their surname is French and should be pronounced with an "oo" at the end, as opposed to the "oh" we've all come to know. While this is hardly an Earth-shattering discovery, one might be wondering why Justin Theroux says the name the way he does. Did he not know this is the correct pronunciation?

Obviously, that's possible. In the featurette, Theroux doesn't respond to his uncle's note about their shared name either way. But, because Theroux has been a public figure for many years, there are other possibilities as to why he says his name the way he does. If you're old enough, you probably remember how long it took to get used to saying Schwarzenegger (Hi, Arnold!) and Zellweger (Hey, Renée!). It's entirely possible that when Theroux was starting out he did say his name the French way, but everyone kept mispronouncing it, so he just gave up on correcting people.

We've had a few stars come out recently and admit that they've allowed people to mispronounce their names lately. Music superstar turned fashion / beauty mogul Rihanna has quietly been saying her name the right way for many moons, while letting nearly everyone else say it wrong. Model Chrissy Teigen had to admit that she feels so bad about correcting folks, that she simply never made her last name an issue.

The Westworld star formerly credited as Thandie Newton told British Vogue about how her actual first name of Thandiwe has been misspelled for decades. And, Khloé Kardashian's mom, Kris Jenner, had to explain to most of the family recently that they (and everyone else) have all been saying Khloé's name wrong, as no one says it with the accent on the end.

We might never know whether or not Justin Theroux cares about how people say his last name, but you can bet that if you ever talk to Paul, you better call him Mr. Ther-oo.

Apple TV+'s The Mosquito Coast is the latest big drama headed to the streaming platform and is adapted from the best-selling book by actor Justin Theroux's uncle Paul. Theroux will be the latest actor to portray his uncle's iconic character of Allie Fox on screen, but he won't be the first. Before Theroux, Harrison Ford portrayed the character in the film adaptation of the book released back in 1986.

I got a chance to speak to Justin Theroux ahead of the premiere of The Mosquito Coast and asked his thoughts on Ford's performance. Theroux, who had the advantage of being able to speak to his uncle frequently about the character during production, shared his thoughts on Harrison Ford's portrayal of Allie Fox and how the two are similar.

For most of the 21st Century, Will Arnett has been considered one of the funniest television stars of his time thanks to shows like Arrested Development, BoJack Horseman, and countless others, but all future stars of the small screen have to start somewhere, and what better place than Sex and the City. Appearing in the second half of Season 2, Arnett played Jack, one of Miranda's (Cynthia Nixon) many suitors, but his weird sexual desires were a little too much for the feisty attorney.

Kat Dennings (Jenny Brier)

Kat Dennings, who would go on to have a successful comedy series of her own with the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls later on in her career, started things off with her portrayal of Jenny Brier, Samantha Jones' (Kim Cattrall) foul-mouthed 13-year-old client who jumps between cussing, talking about hooking up with different men, and planning her over-the-top bat mitzvah near the end of Sex and the City Season 3.

Elizabeth Banks (Catherine)

Today, Elizabeth Banks is known as one of the most successful triple threats in show business with a number of successful movies that she directed, produced, and starred in over the years, but before all of that she was known as Elizabeth Maresal Mitchell. There are only a few credits with Banks' given name, and one happens to be Sex and the City, specifically the Season 3 episode where she portrayed Catherine, a partygoer at a fundraiser for Bill Kelley (John Slattery's pee-brained character).

Clark Gregg (Harris Bragen)

Clark Gregg, who happens to be the fourth person on this list to have appeared in both Sex and the City and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, showed up in a Season 3 episode where Miranda is looking for a date to Charlotte's wedding and turns to a speed dating service to get the job done. After lying about her career, she meets Harris Bragen (Gregg), and things take off for a bit, but when Miranda can no longer act like a flight attendant, the pair comes back to earth.

Justin Theroux (Jared, Vaughn Wysel)

This is something you don't see everyday, but Justin Theroux played not one, but two different characters on Sex and the City. During his Season 1 appearance, Theroux, who had only taken on small roles in Ally McBeal and Romy and Michele's High School Reunion at this point, played Jared, an author with an eye for Carrie. Theroux would return in Season 2, this time playing Vaughn Wysel, a completely different writer who ends up with Carrie, but has some trouble when he's needed the most.

Tony Hale (Tiger)

Tony Hale, the future star of shows like Arrested Development, Veep, and dozens of theatrical releases, had one of his first television appearances on Sex and the City, where he showed up briefly in Season 4 as the assistant to nude photographer snapping pics of Samantha Jones. The episode, and all its awkwardness, is still something Hale talks about to this day.

Andy Cohen (Shoe Salesman)

Andy Cohen, the future host of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, has one acting credit to his name, which just so happens to be Sex and the City. Appearing briefly in Season 6, Cohen played a shoe salesman helping Carrie find the perfect shoe. This wasn't the first time (though it is his only credited role) Cohen appeared on the show, as he showed up as a shirtless guy at a gay bar in Season 4.

For the past week, The Leftovers star has been sharing the quality time he’s been spending with his pup Kuma through candlelight gourmet dinners. Justin Theroux and his grey pitbull rescue are emulating the class of the famous “Bella Notte” scene in Lady and the Tramp just about every evening as he shares burgers, pasta and soup with Kuma while in quarantine. Like I said, Justin Theroux wins quarantine. For many of us, staying at home means more time spent with our pets, and the actor is giving his dog to the finest treatment around. As he explained on Instagram earlier this week, the pair enjoyed a spaghetti dinner with pesto, baby tomatoes and a side salad. Kuma is wearing a bow tie and tux bib, and Justin is all dressed up in a suit too.

They had a lasagna dinner that the actor commented is like “meth” to doggos. Kuma was rescued over in Texas after Hurricane Harvey affected the pup’s hometown. It’s especially fitting since Justin Theroux voiced Tramp in Disney+’s remake of Lady and the Tramp. The production also used a shelter dog in between using its live-action/CGI hybrid technology. Back when the movie was released, Theroux also watched the movie with Kuma and posted his “reactions” to the movie onto Instagram.

One of the most widely acclaimed narrative-driven video games of the modern era, the post-apocalyptic action-adventure The Last of Us is set to become a TV series. It's happening at HBO, where the game's terror and dark drama will almost definitely stay intact during the adaptation process. It's still early in the pre-production process, but fans everywhere are already thinking about who creator Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and his fellow producers will cast as The Last of Us' two lead characters, the rugged Texan Joel and the whip-smart teenager Ellie.

To spin such a beloved video game for TV, HBO will likely look to cast performers with a wide range of skills, since The Last of Us is packed with pulse-pounding action, emotional beats and nuanced dialogue that video games so rarely utilize. In the post-outbreak story, where humans turn into aggro-monsters dubbed the "Infected," Joel is a low-nonsense smuggler tasked with bringing 19-year-old Ellie to a rebel group's base. The situation gets particularly tense once others discover Ellie may hold answers to curing the infection.

And that's just Act I, with tons of deadly mayhem and stressful situations going down during Joel and Ellie's long journey. So in no particular order and with no particular combinations in mind, here are our ideal picks for who HBO and Craig Mazin should cast as Joel and Ellie.

Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman's many years as the X-Men movies' Wolverine would have already made him a great choice to play The Last of Us' Joel, claws down, but it was specifically his gritty turn in 2017's Logan that truly sealed the deal. Jackman can play a badass grizzled survivor with the best of them, and he's always maintained excellent chemistry with younger costars in any project he's in, so there would be little worry about him clashing with whoever gets cast as Ellie. As well, HBO is great at wooing big screen actors to cable, and since Jackman hasn't taken on any regular TV roles since the earliest years of his career, The Last of Us would be an ideal project to win him back.

Kaitlyn Dever

Kaitlyn Dever's years on Tim Allen's Last Man Standing arguably don't give her huge advantages with The Last of Us, beyond displaying her talent for creating levity, which the game features on occasion. Netflix's miniseries Unbelievable, on the other hand, specifically showed off Dever's widespread talents as a hardened survivor, though in a completely different sense. Upon first playing The Last Of Us, it's possible that Justified fans were reminded of Dever's hard-nosed Loretta McCready. And beyond winning performances in films like Short Term 12, Booksmart and more, Dever also has game cred for voicing the young Cassie Drake in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. (Fun fact: though these picks aren't meant to be paired off, Dever did play Hugh Jackman's daughter in 2018's political drama The Front Runner.)

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Sure, Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has been in a bunch of action-oriented projects such as Black Hawk Down, Oblivion, Gods of Egypt and more. But let's not fool ourselves about why he's automatically on many fans' shortlists for The Last of Us' Joel. Obviously, it's because he spent 8 seasons kicking ass and taking names on HBO's fantasy epic Game of Thrones as the loyal-to-a-fault Jaime Lannister. While the characters don't share a lot of direct comparisons, it all comes down to Coster-Waldau's talents for portraying a badass warrior who goes into every battle with the same level of bravery and confidence, regardless of what's coming. His penchant from growing scruffy beards is but a bonus.

Hailee Steinfeld

Though horror-tinged projects rarely get any awards attention, The Last of Us landing at HBO gives it as good a chance as any to earn such accolades, and adding Academy Award-winning actors like Hailee Steinfeld is another good way to do it. Steinfeld took home the Best Supporting Actress trophy for True Grit at just 13 years old, and it's not a huge stretch to say that Ellie shares some characteristics with that film's Mattie Ross. Since then, Steinfeld got more familiar with action roles in Term Life and Bumblebee, and embraced her inner Spider-Woman for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse. Having recently shifted to TV for the titular role in Apple TV+'s Dickinson, Steinfeld is now more comfortable on the small screen, though Emily Dickinson isn't exactly an Ellie replica.

Justin Theroux

Often opting for broadly comedic roles in projects like the Zoolander films, Parks and Recreation and The Spy Who Dumped Me, – as well as rando cameos in The Last Jedi and Joker – actor Justin Theroux always stands out when crossing into more dramatic territories. In particular, Theroux earned miles-high praise for his work on HBO's supernatural apocalypse-adjacent drama The Leftovers. (The HBO-friendly actor also appeared in Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, and John Adams.) As The Leftovers' Kevin Garvey, Theroux played a cop leading his family and others through extremely dire situations, and still infused the role with warmth, humor and wide-eyed fearfulness. The format-breaking episodes "International Assassin" and "The Most Powerful Man in the World (and His Identical Twin Brother)" encapsulate why he'd be particularly superb as The Last Of Us' Joel.

Emily Scanlen

Another HBO veteran with talent to spare, Emily Scanlen jumped from a recurring role in the Australian soap Home and Away to a stunning breakout turn in the miniseries Sharp Objects, easily rising to the acting heights of co-stars Amy Adams and Golden Globe winner Patricia Clarkson. As the mentally abused Amma Crellin, Scanlen masterfully shifted from sycophantic mommy's girl to rebellious deviant and back again, and never lost the character's innate sense of innocence. Following Sharp Objects, Scanlen aced the role of Beth March in Greta Gerwig's Little Women, and in 2019's Babyteeth, she played an ailing teen who lived like there was no tomorrow, which is a sentiment that The Last of Us' Ellie knows all too well.

Frank Grillo

When Frank Grillo digs down into action and thriller projects, he legitimately looks like a video game character come to life. From his minor role in The Shield to his starring role in The Purge franchise to playing Brock "Crossbones" Rumlow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Grillo is always in beast-mode, and The Last of Us' Infected would be wise to steer clear. It's Audience Network's MMA-centered drama Kingdom that perhaps shows Grillo's potential as the father-figure Joel, as he plays a retired MMA fighter trying to keep his family from splintering. The actor boasts the necessary physical acting skills, as well as the ability to find emotional headspaces that many other action stars cannot.

Sophia Lillis

When it comes to starring in dark Hollywood projects that never lose sight of their characters' humanity, Sophia Lillis already has a high batting average that makes her a solid fit for The Last of Us. In the pair of films based on Stephen King's IT, Lillis stood tall as the first film's lone female star in a Bev-y of male co-stars, which then led to her the lead role in Netflix's recent coming-of-age quasi-superhero adaptation I Am Not Okay with This. As a teen harboring a secret that would completely compromise her existence, Lillis' Sydney Novak travels a somewhat parallel path to The Last of Us' Ellie, and coincidentally enough, both characters also fall on the gay or bisexual side of the sexuality spectrum. (Extra points to Lillis for also recurring in HBO's Sharp Objects.)

Nathan Fillion

For a long time, Firefly and Castle star Nathan Fillion campaigned to play Nathan Drake in a live-action adaptation of the Uncharted video game, only for Tom Holland to get cast after years of false starts. It didn't stop Fillion from proving his worth in an Uncharted fan film in 2018, though. So even though Uncharted and The Last of Us don't share a lot in common narratively, there's no doubt that Fillion could and would be a perfect fit to play Joel. (Fillion mighthave just a little too much inherent charm, for the role, but still.) As the star of ABC's drama The Rookie, Fillion might not have the schedule room to fit an HBO production, but maybe he could use all that charm to make something work.

Cassady McClincy

While Cassady McClincy might not be as much of an overall household name as others on this list, her placement is perhaps the most germane. She's currently starring in The Walking Dead as the character Lydia, who has had to fight to prove her worth to the show's protagonists after cutting ties with her violently villainous mother. Despite both characters having experienced post-apocalyptic life, Lydia is actually quite different from Ellie, both in personality and in motivations. That could work to McClincy's advantage, though, since it would give her the opportunity to play someone more confident and self-assured. That said, Lydia's kinship with Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan does offers slight reflections of Ellie and Joel's relationship, so there's familiarity there. (Is it too late for me to add Morgan as a choice to play Joel?)

The long and arduous wait for The Last of Us 2 will presumably be over on May 29, 2020, barring any unforeseen delays, and it'll be some time after that when the hard work will kick off in bringing Joel and Ellie and other characters to life through HBO's adaptation. In the theatrical cut of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Justin Theroux basically exists as an Easter egg -- making a super brief appearance that some fans rightfully only caught on second viewing. One year after the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Justin Theroux is back on the big screen in the new drama On The Basis Of Sex, and it was during the new movie's Los Angeles press day that I had the opportunity to talk with him. At the end of the interview I specifically asked how the tiny role came together, and in his answer he revealed the surprising path the character took in development.

Given that Rian Johnson's outreach to Justin Theroux was years before the start of production on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we can't really say at present how his character might have fit into earlier drafts with potentially different plots. That being said, it's interesting to think about what could have happened in the context of the movie as we know it -- specifically the idea of Finn and Rose successfully making contact with the Master Codebreaker. Not only would this have stopped the heroes from crossing paths with D.J. (a.k.a. the man who would ultimately betrayed them), but it could have led to their plan succeeding and the Resistance escaping the First Order.

That being said, there surely would have been a lot of conflict thrown in the mix as well -- does anything happen without it in the Star Wars universe? -- so we probably won't have the full picture until somebody specifically asks Rian Johnson about it.

As for Justin Theroux, surely it must not feel great to have a role in a Star Wars film reduced down to a few frames of screen time, but the attitude with which he delivered his response definitely sold that he took the whole thing in stride. Being a professed fan of the franchise, he was just happy to have the opportunity to be a part of the universe, saying,

Given that the Master Codebreaker is apparently a contact of Maz Kanata's, it's not impossible that we could see him again, so that's something to keep in mind. And even if he doesn't have any kind of role in the main "saga," maybe Justin Theroux's relationship with Rian Johnson could pay off in a different way down the line, given that the writer/director is currently developing his very own Star Wars trilogy set to be released post-Episode IX.

The film centers on would-be Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg (Felicity Jones) and tells the story of one of the most important cases in her early career. Justin Theroux has kept a notably low profile in recent months since his famous break-up with his wife, Jennifer Aniston. The Leftovers actor dodged a good bit of controversy, keeping himself away from social media (for the most part) and seemingly kept himself focused on his work and his private life. But that changed in a recent interview. Promoting his buzzy Netflix series Maniac, Theroux finally opened up about the divorce, which he considers to be "gentle," surprisingly-- particularly in the scheme of things. Here's how the TV actor described the heavily-discussed dissolve of his famous marriage.

The conversation came up during Justin Theroux's recent personal and in-depth profile piece with The New York Times. While the focus is centered around Theroux's latest role on his newest series, Netflix's limited series Maniac with Jonah Hill and Emma Stone, the topic was bound to come up. Sure enough, the actor was resistant to say too much about such a private matter, but he did admit it was "amicable." Despite all the controversy that surrounded the surprising divorce news, Theroux claims that it's "boring" overall and that it was overall a pretty "painless" process in their relationship.

It was back in February when the celebrity couple announced that their relationship was no more. Neither Justin Theroux nor Jennifer Aniston got into specifics about the separation, announcing in a statement that the decision was "mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year," but didn't get into any nitty-gritty details about the reasons why they decided to call it quits. Aniston and Theroux were married for a little more than two years, becoming engaged since 2012. They shared an open-hearted relationship together ever since they met on the set of Tropic Thunder, which Theroux co-wrote. Their loving relationship then became stronger when they worked alongside each other on the otherwise-forgotten 2012 comedy Wanderlust.

There are a couple explanations floating around for why Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston split. A number of them center around Los Angeles and New York City, with Theroux preferring NYC while Aniston liked it better in Los Angeles. That's where each actor currently presides, and they are still making the most of it away from each other, despite the circumstances of their divorce. We hope they stay good friends, especially if they're amicable.

Maniac is currently streaming on Netflix. Beyond that, Justin Theroux was also recently seen in this summer's The Spy Who Dumped Me. He also appeared in the Netflix film, Mute. He'll next be seen in the upcoming biopic On the Basis of Sex, which is expected to hit theaters later this year.

The Oscars has been a significant subject of controversy in the last couple of weeks thanks to their revelation about a new category celebrating "popular film." It won't come into play until 2020, and the details about how it will work remain hidden, but still people at large are not super happy. One tactic some have taken to protest the news is suggesting alternate new categories that could be utilized instead - and actor/writer Justin Theroux has a good notion:

Justin Theroux, who has been known to make both dramatic (The Girl On the Train) and funny (Wanderlust) films, has been on a press tour of late because of his new movie The Spy Who Dumped Me, and it was while sitting down with AOL that he offered his two cents on the Oscars controversy. Rather than the broad "popular" angle, he instead suggested that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences find a way to give a specific award to the films created to make us laugh. And he makes a pretty great point.

As has been parodied to death, the kind of movies that Oscar voters really love are big, emotional dramas preferably set in the past and during wartime, with an extra bonus kicked in for a disabled protagonist. What they really don't love are comedies. It's not that they never get recognized (titles like Dr. Strangelove, Annie Hall, and It Happened One Night all scored Best Picture nominations), but there isn't a long list of examples, and even more rare are actual wins. Comedies will always struggle when competing for the same categories as dramatic titles - literally because they are taken more seriously - so giving them their own category makes a lot of sense.

Frankly, there are a lot of categories that need to be created in recognition of modern cinema's evolution. If there is room for discussion about adding new awards - and adding a "popular film" category opens that door - then that means there should be open consideration for stunts, performance capture, and voice over work. The structure of the broadcast, which has always been overlong and the scapegoat excuse for not changing, can grow, and now is the time.

Ultimately, though, it's all about the work. She's a hard-working actress and producer, so gossip rags be damned. Everyone has a job to do, and Aniston is focused on hers. Still, Jennifer Aniston does admittedly find herself frustrated by some reporting. Notably, the A-list performer is annoyed by the constant questions about her broken heart and whether she'll ever settle down and have kids. While Aniston has developed a thick skin for a few unsavory things directed her way, these comments -- and the pressure to have a family -- can rub her the wrong way.

These comments are related to Jennifer Aniston's recent separation from her husband, Justin Theroux, earlier this year. There has been a great deal of speculation (of course) as to what might've caused the high-profile break-up, with some people believing it might have something to do with work hassles between the two highly in-demand actors, along with Theroux's preference for New York City over Aniston's insistence on living in Los Angeles. But ultimately, it's a private matter, as all relationships are -- even when the tabloid media says otherwise. Like Aniston admits in the quote above, nobody really knows what happens behind closed doors, and we might never know what caused these two lovers to go about their separate ways.

Jennifer Aniston continues to find a steady stream of new projects to keep her attention away from the noise. Next, Aniston will be seen in the comedy musical Dumplin', which is based on the book of the same name by Julie Murphy. It is expected to arrive sometime this year, though it's unclear when. She's also filming Netflix's Murder Mystery, which reunites the actress with Adam Sandler. They previously worked together on 2011's Just Go With It. Additionally, Aniston is looking to return to the small screen. She is currently attached to an upcoming, untitled new series with Reese Witherspoon produced by Apple. TMZ reports that Justin Theroux's neighbor, Norman Resnicow, has some major beef with the actor, whom he reportedly considers akin to "the Devil." The disgruntled neighbor claims Jennifer Aniston never cozied up to Theroux's New York City's home and that Theroux ultimately "bailed" on her because she wasn't warming to the "shithole apartment." Resnicow claims that "everyone knows" she "hated" the place, and that Theroux acted "crummy to her like he did to me." Uh oh. It appears there's something more personal going on between the two neighbors...

Reportedly, Norman Resnicow is in a heated court battle with Justin Theroux over water damage in his living room, which supposedly came from Theroux's upstairs apartment. This damage has led to an infestation of mold in his house, and Resnicow claims that it has gotten so terrible that he needs medication to alleviate the ill effects it has caused on his health, let alone the hassles of the property damage it has caused to his living arrangements. Resnicow recently filed some legal documents about this matter, so it's safe to say it's still very much a point of contention between the two -- and that it is coloring his opinion on this celebrity separation. Since Resnicow's comments went public, Theroux's representative has also released a statement, noting,

Justin Theroux is also claiming no responsibility for the water damage, which he says didn't come from either his apartment or his deck. Despite this feud between neighbors, Norman Resnicow claims he holds no ill-will towards Jennifer Aniston whatsoever, who was reportedly always nice to him and whom he allegedly feels sorry for during this public break-up. He is also supposedly far more favorable towards Aniston for another reason: because the actress named her "most beloved" dog Norman.

It was only one week ago when Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston announced they were splitting up. The former couple released a joint statement at the time, stating that they wanted to jump ahead of the gossip and let everyone get on the same page about their situation. The couple ended their seven-year relationship together over what was deemed a mutual separation towards the end of 2017. One rumored reason for why the couple called it quits was said to be because couldn't agree on where to live -- with Aniston considered a West Coast woman, while Theroux liked to stay inside the Big Apple. If so, then that might perhaps lend a little bit of creditability to Norman Resnicow's claims, though that doesn't necessarily factor the apartment situation. Aniston and Theroux met on the set of Tropic Thunder and they grew closer working together on Wanderlust. They were married quietly back in 2015.

It's hard to know if Norman Resnicow's claims hold any water, but if there's more information leaked, we'll be sure to keep you informed.

Career-wise, actor Justin Theroux is on top of his game, with several new projects on the horizon following a Last Jedi cameo that people are still talking about. However, it's his romantic life that has driven more headlines recently, as he and fellow superstar Jennifer Aniston split up just days ago. It appears that situation has become so difficult that Theroux has apparently cancelled a planned appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Justin Theroux was set to sit with Stephen Colbert for The Late Show's taping on Tuesday, February 20, and that interview was in the books a ways before his break-up with Jennifer Aniston. So even though Colbert was seemingly going to get Theroux's first public interview as a newly to-be-divorced man, that isn't going to happen, as the program's schedule has been updated to reflect a change in the guest lineup.

Perhaps it's not too shocking that someone going through marriage troubles would decide to opt out of making any public appearances, especially on a talk show where comedy is the driving force. The public has been theorizing about the whats and the whys behind the couple's split, and there are definitely people out there who were hoping that Justin Theroux would get some feelings off his chest during the Late Show talk. But it's not meant to be, at least not yet. It doesn't appear that any replacement dates have been set, but we're hoping Justin Theroux is able to pencil in a return, since he's always such a fun interview, both with Stephen Colbert and other late night hosts.

Stephen Colbert has been locking down stellar interviews since he took over the late night gig, and it was just in January when he had James Franco as a guest in the immediate aftermath of Franco's Golden Globes success and subsequent sexual misconduct allegations. It made for an interesting and viral-ready interview that many were surprised Franco went through with. Perhaps that particular chat played a role in inspiring Theroux to cancel his own appearance.

Now, instead of Justin Theroux, The Late Show fans will get to watch comedian and Broad City recurrer Chris Gethard, according to ET. Gethard's hilarious chat series The Chris Gethard show will be returning for the rest of its inaugural truTV season on Tuesday, March 20. The other previously scheduled guests are Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and musical guest Portugal the Man.

Justin Theroux will soon be seen in Duncan Jones' new Netflix thriller Mute, in which viewers will also be able to see Jennifer Aniston's former Friends co-star Paul Rudd rocking a stunning mustache. Mark this one as rumor for now, but considering that Aniston does spend most of her time in Los Angeles and Theroux prefers New York, it's easy to see how this could have been a contributing factor in the couple's divorce. The couple wed back in 2015, and were married for about two and a half years when the split was announced. Other rumors have indicated that Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's differing interests may have contributed to the split. It has also been noted that they often spent time apart for work even after they got married. Whatever the reasons behind the split, the couple did release a joint statement noting they wanted to get ahead of the gossip and have called it quits.

This relationship bombshell comes shortly after Jennifer Aniston appeared solo at Amy Schumer's surprise wedding this week. t's sad to report on another break-up for The Break-Up star, but it's comforting that Jennifer Anniston and Theroux are splitting up amicably, at least. Now let's see how long it takes for rumors that she and Bratt Pitt are getting together to arise.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi concluded its principal photography late last year, but casting information for the next main installment in a galaxy far, far away is still making its way to our eyes from time to time. The latest reported addition to the movie is The Leftovers star Justin Theroux, and along with his name being dropped came some information about his character, including how this individual will apparently be wearing a tuxedo-like outfit similar to what Indiana Jones wore at the beginning of 1984's The Temple of Doom.

Justin Theroux's character in Star Wars: The Last Jedi is described as an "expert slicer" who will have a "pivotal moment. For all the casual Star Wars watchers out there, a slicer basically this universe's version of a hacker; someone who breaks through the encryption on computer systems and programs. As for this outfit Theroux's character is wearing, he'll reportedly have a "white tuxedo style jacket" over a black suit, making him somewhat resemble James Bond.

Making Star Wars also reports that Justin Theroux's scenes will take place in the casino setting where Benicio del Toro's still-unidentified character is also rumored to be hanging around, and that there was an explosion shot during a sequence set at this location which Theroux's character may be a part of. No other details were provided, so it remains to be seen whether Theroux's character will be a good guy or bad guy. All we know for certain right now is that he has excellent taste in fashion. Besides his regular role as Kevin Garvey on HBO's The Leftovers, Theroux's other notable credits include American Psycho, Zoolander, Six Feet Under and The Girl on the Train. He also wrote Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2, Rock of Ages and Zoolander 2.

As it did with Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm is keeping its proverbial lips sealed on specific plot details concerning Star Wars: The Last Jedi. So it's hard to predict how Justin Theroux's character will fit into the story. Since Rey will be spending most of The Last Jedi learning how to harness the Force under Luke Skywalker on Ahch-To, it seems unlikely that he'll have any interaction with her. From what's been revealed in unofficial reports and screened in special footage, Finn will be going undercover to infiltrate The First Order for The Resistance, so perhaps his mission will take him to this casino and the former stormtrooper will cross paths with this enigmatic slicer. Then there's Poe Dameron, who will likely be sticking close to his X-Wing again, but hey, maybe he decided to blow off some steam and go somewhere to play sabacc, unaware of the trouble brewing that may be connected to this finely-dressed character. Whatever the case, we'll provide any other significant details about Theroux's character in The Last Jedi if they're released.

After the trailer for Zoolander 2 dropped, a protest had sparked against one of the film's particularly controversial gags. The joke, involving an androgynous model named All, has been labeled as a mockery of LGBT concerns in a petition that's over 20,000 signatures strong. Naturally, the writer of Zoolander 2, Justin Theroux, has commented on the controversy himself, and above all else he feels a bit hurt.

While doing press for The Leftovers, the hot button issue found its way into a conversation between Theroux and a journalist representing The Wrap. Theroux, who also co-wrote the Ben Stiller vehicle Tropic Thunder, responded to the outrage with the following remarks:

Unfortunately for Justin Theroux, and those involved with the casting of Benedict Cumberbatch in the controversial role, the petition also draws attention to the fact that a traditionally gender identified actor has been cast in a role that depicts, "a non [gender] binary individual in a clearly negative way." With only two months to go until Zoolander 2's release, the issue of depicting a non-traditionally gendered character is most assuredly not going away, but considering how Tropic Thunder came under similar fire during its own theatrical release, the issue wasn't really that new to begin with.

It wasn't too long ago that mental disability groups tried to lobby Paramount to delete the now famous "full retard" scene from Tropic Thunder, only to see the scene eventually included in the finished product. That's not to say that the concerns of special interest groups are invalid, it's just that in the case of both films penned by Justin Theroux, context is key. The exact conditions that set up these scenes are extremely important to their interpretation, and ultimate message. For all we know, the scene sets up a killer joke at the expense of our two favorite male models, courtesy of their competition.

In order to gain a little more context as to how this joke possibly fits in with the rest of Zoolander 2, we'd suggest watching trailer again below. Be sure to keep an eye on the 00:36 mark that begins the scene in question.

There are a couple of questions that should be answered before any sort of controversy is raised: the first being, how is the character portrayed / described. In the case of All, the words "biggest supermodel in the whole world" don't seem to create a negative connotation, at least not with the world at large. Which raises the second concern when it comes to the joke: if the world isn't reacting negatively to the character of All, then who is? The answer, of course, is Derek and Hansel: two characters who've never been gifted with smarts or social graces.

Ultimately, the fuss does seem a bit overboard for the folks that haven't seen the entirety of Zoolander 2 just yet. Considering that this scene is more than likely a quick cameo by Cumberbatch, it's not as if All's identity is going to be a sticking point with the film's overarching plot. Still, the possibility for further controversy exists just as abundantly, as the trailer obviously shows a truncated version of the final moment. We'll see soon enough when the film opens on February 12, 2016 – the same day that the infinitely more controversial Deadpool opens.

It's been close to two decades since Romy and Michele's High School Reunion arrived in theaters delivering what has proven to be a truly perfect mashup of 80s and 90s pop culture. Looking back, this movie is so 90s it's like not even funny...

Except it is funny. (Obviously.)

Mira Sorvino (Romy White)

Mira Sorvino was coming off an Oscar win for Mighty Aphrodite when she took on the role of Romy White in Romy and Michele. Since then, her credits have included At First Sight, Union Square, and more recently, she played the part of Sara in TNT's Falling Skies.

Lisa Kudrow (Michele Weinberger)

Friends was already on the rise when Lisa Kudrow starred in Romy and Michele, and the NBC comedy would continue into the next decade. Since then, we've seen her in Easy A, Scandal and her Showtime comedy Web Therapy. She also made a comeback for the return of the underrated HBO comedy The Comeback in 2014.

Elaine Hendrix (Lisa Luder)

Though she turns out to be the nice A-Grouper in Romy and Michele, Elaine Hendrix played some memorably antagonistic roles since then, including the father's girlfriend in The Parent Trap remake and Molly Shannon's rival Evian in Superstar. Among her recent roles, she's signed on to play Ava in FX's new series Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.

Janeane Garofalo (Heather Mooney)

Janeane Garofalo was coming off Reality Bites and the under-appreciated gem that was Bye Bye Love when she took on the role of the crabby, chain-smoking Heather Mooney in Romy and Michele. Since then, her credits have included 200 Cigarettes, Big Trouble (another comedy that deserves more love) and The West Wing. Coming up, the comedian is set to reprise her role of Beth for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp on Netflix.

Justin Theroux (Cowboy)

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion was one of Justin Theroux's first credited roles. He's since gone on to appear in Sex and the City, and play the role of Timothy Bryce in American Psycho. Much more recently, you'll find him starring in HBO's The Leftovers. As for his Friends connection, the actor is engaged to Lisa Kudrow's Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston.

Julia Campbell (Christy Masters)

But many of us likely recognize her best for her role as the fanged and hilariously blunt Pam De Beaufort in True Blood. These days, she's playing Maleficent in ABC's Once Upon a Time.

Camryn Manheim (Toby Walters)

After playing the embodiment of school spirit that was Toby Walters, Camryn Manheim showed off her acting chops on the small screen and earned herself an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her performance in The Practice. More recently, she's appeared in Person of Interest and Extant.

Zoolander 2 is the sequel that just won't die. Thirteen years after the first one took us to the School For Kids Who Can't Read Good, plans have stopped and started repeatedly for a follow-up to the Ben Stiller comedy epic. The latest news had Justin Theroux stepping in to direct, though with the actor busy with various other commitments these days, it looks like he might step aside. But this is not a roadblock: Zoolander 2 is still coming.

Speaking to Vulture, Justin Theroux revealed that none other than Ben Stiller himself is now leaning towards returning to direct Zoolander 2. While one might think that position would be too good to pass up, it looks like Theroux can't do it due to his commitments to HBO's The Leftovers. Said the actor/writer,

Given that The Leftovers has been a big hit, it seems likely that Stiller would be the guy back in charge for Zoolander 2. As you'd recall, Stiller directed the first Zoolander, one of the highlights of an unusual and sporadic directing career. His last trip behind the camera was The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, a box office and critical whiff that made the comedian look a step behind and a day late. The good news is that he's now probably hungry for a hit, and while studios still rightly believe he's bankable, there's a reason he opted to star in Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb . Still, he'll never direct anything as brilliant as the unsold pilot to Heat Vision And Jack.

In addition to the Night At The Museum sequel, Stiller will also show up in Noah Baumbach's next film, While We're Young. He's currently debating starring in the very Zoolander-y drama I Am Chippendale's and considering Pinocchio as another directorial project. We also have to remember that the guy will turn 49 this year.. I'm not saying Stiller hasn't taken care of himself, but how many 49+ year-old male fashion models can you name? Zoolander takes place in a goofy joke world, but there's only so much one can suspend their disbelief. Heck, maybe Stiller's moved on: it's not like he doesn't have better things to do. Stiller could use a hit, however, and while the original film only generated $60 million worldwide, it was big on DVD, suggesting thirteen years-worth of fans are looking forward to the return of Derek Zoolander.

Given how quickly Marvel is developing movies, we've been dealing with endless rumors about nearly every character on the company roster, and Dr. Strange is no exception. It was back in 2010, before Captain America and Thor had kicked off the post-Iron Man era of Marvel Universe films, that we first heard writers had been hired for a Dr. Strange film. Since then the best we've gotten is vague hints from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige that Dr. Strange was still in play, even as the studio has moved forward on Guardians of the Galaxy and even the endlessly-gestating Ant-Man.

What we're hearing today about Dr. Strange is still just rumor, but it could be a sign that the studio is finally ready to stop dragging their heels and make the movie a reality. CHUD is hearing from what they call reliable sources that the studio is eyeing Justin Theroux, the actor/screenwriter/Jennifer Aniston fiancé, to potentially play Dr. Strange, though it's unclear if he might pop in another Marvel movie or get a standalone effort, or even how many other actors they might want to play the part. Theroux has already worked as a screenwriter on Iron Man 2, so as a familiar face to the Marvel family he might have an edge-- hell, they might even want him to write the Dr. Strange script instead of play him.

Like we said, this is all a rumor, and you could probably bug the Marvel offices to find them tossing around any number of names for any number of characters (for all we know they're already planning a Teen Thor reboot starring members of One Direction). But while we're talking about him, can you see Theroux as Dr. Strange? Or should they leave him behind the camera?

As one of the biggest and most financially well off stars in Hollywood, Jennifer Aniston could have a dream wedding. She could spend years planning, invite hundreds of guests and make the ceremony one of the ritizers, most beautiful affairs any of her high class guests have ever seen, but at forty-four, with one failed marriage already under her belt, she’s apparently more excited about actually being a wife than having a special day.

According to People, Aniston is already in the middle of planning her wedding to fiancé Justin Theroux, and she’s decided to make it a rather small affair with only close friends and a few family members from both the bride and groom’s side. The actual date of the ceremony hasn’t been released to the public, but it reportedly has been chosen and will happen sooner rather than later, likely not long after Aniston finishes shooting her latest movie next month.

For years, Aniston made tabloid headlines with her high profile relationships. She gave it a go with some of the most famous men in Hollywood, and rumors continually abounded about why none of them worked out. Her relationship with Theroux, an actor and screenwriter, has been much more calm, however. The two have quietly gone about their business without scandal, and sources close to the couple have continually raved about how well they get along.

Here’s to hoping Jen’s wedding, even if it’s a tiny ceremony with only a few dozen people, is beautiful and special in its own unique way.

After years of trying to find her happy ending, Jennifer Aniston may finally be on the right path. A little more than a year after they began dating, Justin Theroux surprised the former Friends star with a big, shiny marriage proposal, and Aniston said yes, confirming all the rumors that her relationship had gotten incredibly serious in a hurry.

According to People, the engagement occurred on Friday, which just so happened to be Theroux’s forty-first birthday. Clearly, he had his sights set on making his special day the greatest of his entire life, and with her yes, he seems to have done so.

Aniston and Theroux were first spotted in each other’s company last May. She’d, of course, run through a long series of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors, and he was winding down an extremely long-term relationship. As such, fans didn’t immediately assume the union would develop into a lasting commitment, but in the months since, the two have started hanging out almost constantly. Sources close to both have been saying how happy they make each other, and with any luck, they’ll be saying as much for the rest of their lives.

Sadly, because Aniston has had so many high profile heartbreaks in the past, it’s hard not to wonder if the other shoe will drop at any point in the future. I like Justin. I really think this might be the one, but I’m not sure I’d bet my house on it.

While Justin Theroux isn’t as recognizable a name as James Franco, Danny McBride, Natalie Portman, or Zooey Deschanel, he really should be. In addition to being a great comedic and dramatic talent, playing in movies ranging from Zoolander to Mulholland Dr., he’s also an accomplished screenwriter, having written Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2, as well as the upcoming Zoolander 2 and Rock of Ages. What’s more, he also happens to be a real scene stealer in David Gordon Green’s Your Highness.

Last week the actor, who plays the evil wizard Leezar in the medieval comedy, sat down with members of the press to talk about the forthcoming film. During the chat, Theroux talked about ripping off his look from Gary Oldman, discovering that his character is actually a 19-year-old virgin, and how hard it is to say certain lines in front of Zooey Deschanel. It feels like all these medieval sword and sorcery villains try to dance around what they’re going to do, how did it feel to conspire to “The Fuckening?”

That was a conversation I had with Danny [McBride] and David [Gordon Green] earlier. With these kind of movies there’s always an event called “The Darkening” or “The Awakening” or the whatever, so I said “how about we called it ‘The Fuckening’?” and they were like “oh my god!”

They’re always kidnapping the princess because they intend to marry her, or force them to be their wives….

Yeah, we weren’t mincing words. “I’m going to take her and have my way with her and put a dragon in her womb.” I’m sure it will be on the DVD somewhere, but the plan did come to fruition at one point and because it went so haywire, I ended up laying an egg with a dragon in it, and I shot this sequence where I gave birth to this pustulated and horrible whatever… maybe it was a bridge too far.

So the Fuckening was consummated?

The Fuckening was consummated in a completely perverted way where I gave birth to this half baked dragon that was manned by some wonderful little person.

So it must have been fun collaborating with David?

Yeah. Those guys have such a particular way of creating jokes, and being a fan of comedy it’s so unique and in their own voice, I was very stoked to be able to participate. They’re great at coming up with stuff on the fly.

I heard there was a lot of improv?

There was, but Danny must not be giving his screenplay the credit it deserves, because it was a really funny screenplay. Any good movie or script – if they’re doing their job – it’s giving the highest possible platform for an actor to leap off of. That script was very high up there - it was a smart, tight script. And there was a lot of improv once we got on set, but a lot of the script was in there.

How does it feel to come into a role where you’re a ringer?

It’s the fun part because you don’t have any heavy lifting to do. You just get to shout and chew scenery and be awful and say a few jokes, and you don’t have the romantic story line or the quest part of the story, you just pop up now and again.

Your character has some difficulty completing his revenge, do you think your character had performance anxiety, or do you think he was forced into this?

It’s funny, because I was asking David and Danny, “So what’s the deal with my character?” And David is like “He’s nineteen years old.” I thought he was four thousand years old, no he’s nineteen. And that makes so much sense because he’s a nineteen year old virgin. He’s a guy who’s never had sex who’s been raised by three demented women who are much, much older, and he has to perform under two moons in front of his parents.

You’re a successful screenwriter, when it comes to a good role versus a good script, would you have trouble choosing?

I would always choose the script, but you get more creative control that way. But in a situation like this where everyone’s really funny and you want to do it, it’s a chance of a lifetime. But I think a script has longer legs than a performance so in the end is more satisfying. It’s harder but more satisfying.

You were a screenwriter on Tropic Thunder, which gave Danny McBride a breakout role, and he’s writing this script, was there a dynamic shift working on this film?

No, I was a huge Danny McBride film from The Foot Fist Way, so when we were doing Tropic, Ben said “I think we should get Danny McBride” and I was like, “Yes, that guy is super funny.” I think that gave Danny entre to say “Hey, do you want to do this with me?” I think we’re both fans of each other. He’s got this immitigable style as a writer and performer, this sort of blunt force way of writing jokes, which is super funny and I can’t do, so I’m always happy to say his words, say whatever he can come up with.

Though you said you got to chew up the scenery, what was great was there was an insecurity and vulnerability – not just in the moment.

Well he has this backwards trajectory. Normally the bad guy grows more and more powerful, and my trajectory was coming in horrible and you think “oh this is a guy to be reckoned with” and as he goes on he grows more and more neurotic, so he has this sort of downward spiral. “Oh god, this guy’s unraveling.”

Did you consciously sketch that out, or did it come out organically?

I think it came out of knowing that he was a virgin, also the idea of his whole life being about The Fuckening, and making this moment happen. Why on earth would you put this on a platform in the middle of a huge room in front of your parents? That would be the worst way to lose your virginity. So I think it came out of – weirdly enough – the reality of our fantasy movie.

David Gordon Green looks like David Lynch a little bit, how would compare working with the two of them, are there similarities?

David and David? When I worked with the Davids… No. They’re different, but if you had to find a similarity they both have very good senses of humor and both create a really fun working environment. I know when I worked with David Lynch on a couple of things I got to work with him on, that when I saw the final products – Mulholland Dr. and Inland Empire – I was shocked at how serious they were because when you’re on a David Lynch set it’s like you’re making a comedy. You’re having so much fun, and you’re laughing and David’s laughing, and then you watch the movie and they’re like (imitates a Lynchian drone) and all of sudden these weird glances. The movies are the sign of a good artist, and he keeps the set and the filmmaking experience light and accessible to the actor and then he goes into the lab and does his mix, and it’s like “holy shit, that’s something totally different than what I thought we were making.” And the same is sort of true for David Gordon Green in that he keeps it real light, real easy, but knows exactly what he wants – and so does David [Lynch] as well. But in as far as approach goes they’re very different guys.

What’s going on with your screenwriting career at the moment?

I’ve got a couple pots simmering. Ben Stiller and I handed in a draft of Zoolander 2 we’re excited about, and so we’re just waiting for that to happen, and that’s pretty much where that stands.

Do approach a Zoolander differently now that Ben Stiller’s a huge star and director versus when the original movie came out when he was known but not a superstar?

You mean where he’s at? No, because he knows the character’s the same. He not that different between when we made the last movie. The character’s the character, you’re not writing for him. He’s such a smart screenwriter, he’s good at cutting away fat and creating material, he’s kind of a genius when it comes to creating a screenplay. As is evidenced in Tropic Thunder.

Did you have any input into your look?

Yeah, we stole Gary Oldman’s Dracula hair. Speaking of Zoolander, I rip off Gary Oldman… I’m kind of a better actor. No, we stole the hairdo from Dracula, but just enough so we wouldn’t get copyright infringement. And in Zoolander I stole his True Romance look when I’m playing the evil DJ. Me and David and Danny watched a lot of villains from the era. Labyrinth, all movies I watched growing up. And then the performance I took from was Merlin in Excalibur - that slightly drinking English take, and the weird chrome helmet thing. The performance made me laugh so hard, cause it always looks like he’s been drinking all morning. His eyes wandering. It’s super funny because you can kind of tell that they’re all drunk. I took my lead from that performance. And then a little bit of makeup from David Bowie from Labyrinth, we took the teeth from Willem Dafoe in Wild at Heart. A Frankenstein of other villains.

How long were you in the make-up chair?

Not long, because the teeth were just an appliance that you sucked in and the hair was a wig. So it was pretty easy actually. At one point I had to wear the contacts from Michael Jackson’s Thriller, those cat eye lens that are painful, but it was pretty painless, actually as far as make up goes, and that’s always fun putting that shit on.

How game was Zooey for some of your madness?

We all – as did the women – respected each other where we’d say, “Please don’t make me say this to Zooey Deschanel, this just feels wrong.” And Danny had a similar thing with Natalie and she had a similar thing with Danny, but we just got in to it, because of the world we were in and the stupidity of the world we were in, it was fun to say those sort of ridiculous things to each other.

If you got really excited when Owen Wilson broke the news last month that Zoolander 2 was looking good to go into production very soon, brace yourself for even better news. Talking to Empire, Ben Stiller said that he and Justin Theroux have finished the script and handed it over to the studio, and now it's a matter of seeing what the studio wants to do from here. He also dropped a few details about where we might find the main characters when the sequel kicks off, and how WIll Ferrell's villainous Mugatu will fit in:

There's a lot to process in that quote, and a lot to get excited about: not only is the script finished, not only is Stiller as enthusiastic as Wilson about actually seeing it happen, but Ferrell is on board too and will be an integral part of the story. Of course it's still entirely possible that Zoolander 2 will go the way of Anchorman 2-- everyone wants to do it, but the studio won't play ball-- but Stiller remains a pretty powerful force in getting movies made. The signs keep looking better and better for the Blue Steel pose to make its triumphant return to the movies.

When Danny McBride and David Gordon Green first put together their dream version of the movie Your Highness, it was a loving tribute to 80s fantasy films like Krull and Conan the Barbarbian-- and according to McBride, "It was a $200 million movie, which was a little higher than we were shooting for." The old friends trimmed the script to the point that Universal was willing to make the film, and today at New York Comic Con they showed off the first footage from Your Highness, an extended trailer that is as hilarious as Green's last film Pineapple Express, but with some pretty amazing special effects to go along with it.

Set in the kind of faraway, fantastical kingdom you've seen in every generic fantasy movie, Your Highness stars James Franco and McBride as a pair of prince brothers, one noble and handsome and committed, and the other a total stoner fuck-up. You can probably guess which one plays which. The two wind up on a quest to rescue a princess (Zooey Deschanel), accompanied by a kick-ass warrior woman played by Natalie Portman, who both beats up McBride and strips down to her underwear over the course of the trailer. Like Pineapple Express, it looks like the plot is just a vehicle to include a lot of dirty, ridiculous jokes, from Franco getting stabbed in the groin by a poisonous snake and having to "suck my own venom" to McBride telling his brother, in a terrible fake British accent, "Handle your shit, Fabious, please." On top of it all there's Justin Theroux as the evil wizard, wearing 8 pounds of eyeliner and throwing around balls of energy as weapons and bragging about his powers of "Magic, motherfucker."

It's not that surprising to hear that the movie is funny-- the Gordon Green and McBride combination pretty much can't lose-- but the special effects were actually really impressive too. It actually looks like there's a significant amount of puppet work going on in there, which is both true to movies like Krull and also totally refreshing in these excessive CGI times. The trailer ended with a montage of action scenes set to typically over the top music, and while it was hilarious in context of the comedy that came before it, it actually looked like Your Highness will pull off the fantasy action as well as it does the pot and buttsex jokes.

The Q&A that followed the trailer went in all kinds of wild directions, from a long discussion of Franco's stint on General Hospital to several questions specifically for Kenny Powers. The energy in the room, though, was through the roof, despite the fact that the panel started half and hour late and, let's face it, no one really knew what to expect before the trailer started. With stars James Franco and Natalie Portman both likely to be nominated this year for Oscars (for 127 Hours and Black Swan, respectively), I cannot wait for Your Highness to come out on April 8 next year touting its Oscar-nominated stars… as it shows clips of them smoking pot out of medieval-style bongs. It's the kind of movie that's just weird and bold enough to get away with that.

Upcoming movies don’t go away, they stick around to be teased endlessly whenever someone wants you to pay attention. Last week Zoolander 2 shuffled off toward development hell when Paramount turned down funding the project, leaving the sequel’s future looking pretty grim. Unless of course you’re writer Justin Theroux who says he doesn’t know what everyone’s talking about. He’s still writing.

Theroux tells Movieline, “I have not gotten word from anyone to put pencils down, so I am continuing as though we are proceeding with that film.” Actually what’s more surprising than that they’re still working on the movie is that they hadn’t finished the script. Rumor had been that Zoolander 2 was so far along that they were already working on casting Jonah Hill as the movie’s villain before their funding fell through, but if they still don’t have a first draft of the screenplay… maybe even that was premature?

It’s not so surprising that Theroux hasn’t gotten the Zoolander 2 is dead memo. Sure Paramount turned them down but rumor has it there’s a chance they may slash the budget and find money somewhere else. As long as he’s already working, it makes sense to let Theroux keep scribbling in his legal pad and then hang onto his finished draft for a day when Zoolander 2 funding starts flowing. In the meantime, the rumors, substantive or not, will keep right on flowing. Anyone else feel like they’re taking crazy pills?
