Justin Timberlake made headlines for all the wrong reasons back in 2024 when the news broke that he had been arrested for driving while intoxicated. The fact that it happened in the middle of a world tour made the entire situation awkward for all involved, but now that the body cam footage of the arrest is public, the issue is front and center once again, and Timberlake’s wife Jessica Biel is reportedly less than thrilled.

Timberlake was making some jokes about his arrest on stage shortly after it happened in the summer of 2024, but one person who apparently isn’t laughing right now is Jessica Biel. According to an unnamed source who spoke with People, while Biel is being supportive, that’s not the same as being happy with the situation, which she is absolutely not. The source claimed…

Jessica Biel's current feelings appear to echo how the actress reportedly felt at the time of the arrest. She was reportedly understanding, believing that mistakes are human, while also being disappointed that the arrest happened at all. Biel attended one of her husband's concerts shortly after the arrest, which seemed to confirm the charges were not causing any problems between them.

Biel's main issue, unsurprisingly, is reportedly that the release of the body cam footage simply brings attention back to this unflattering situation, which most people had certainly moved on from otherwise. It seems Biel would just like to leave the entire thing in the past, but that’s difficult following the March 20 release of body cam footage of the arrest, which includes Timberlake performing field sobriety tests and trying to explain what he does for a living awkwardly.

A request to release the footage was filed in New York, where the arrest took place, under the Freedom of Information Law. Timberlake filed for a restraining order to prevent the footage's release, claiming that its public release would constitute an invasion of privacy. Ultimately an agreement was reached to release an edited version of the footage. The edited footage apparently protects Timberlake’s privacy, but as the source says, it still doesn’t make the singer look good. The source explained…

Timberlake originally pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his lawyer claimed the singer wasn’t intoxicated at the time of the arrest. Eventually Timberlake pled guilty to a lesser charge.

While the video’s publication certainly brings an unflattering situation back into the light that both Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel would rather forget, it seems likely that it will fade into the background once again before too long.

*NSYNC had a lot of Millennials freaking out back in 2023, when they reunited at the VMAs and released their first new single in more than 20 years. Fans were begging for a reunion tour or album, but instead, work began on a biopic of the boy band. Plans for that movie have apparently now been scrapped, with Justin Timberlake’s participation reportedly being a big point of contention. But it’s not for the reasons I would have guessed.

A planned movie about the rise and fall of the popular ‘90s and 2000s-era boy band has stalled, according to sources for US Weekly, who said:

Whether that movie would have been a dramatized retelling or a documentary, I would have been all about that — as a Millennial who used to dance along to “Tearin’ Up My Heart” and their other music videos on TRL — so that’s definitely a big disappointment.

There were reportedly issues getting Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick to agree on aspects of the biopic, and the insider alleged that negotiations between the bandmates hit a stalemate, particularly with Timberlake. They said:

It’s surprising to me that something like an executive producer credit or having more control than the other musicians would be the issue for Justin Timberlake. I would have expected his issues to be more about the content of the movie.

Any movie about *NSYNC would, of course, cover the band’s animosity over Justin Timberlake going solo, but the frontman has also seen plenty of other scandals that one might understandably not want to revisit.

Some of those old headlines have resurfaced in the past couple of years, including his relationship and breakup with Britney Spears — as she revealed in her memoir The Woman in Me that she had an abortion in 2000 after getting pregnant while dating Justin Timberlake.

The 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show has also come into question over the years, with sources more recently suggesting that the “Sexyback” singer might have been responsible for Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction.”

Justin Timberlake responded to criticism of his actions in 2021, apologizing to both women. But he appeared to take that back, at least in Britney Spears' case, at a 2024 concert, where he said he was sorry "to absolutely fucking nobody" before playing the (allegedly) Spears-inspired "Cry Me a River."

Whether or not these incidents played into the musician’s feelings about an *NSYNC biopic is unknown, and it’s possible that wanting control over the narrative could be part of the reason it was important to him to get an executive producer credit.

The band had reportedly been “hopeful” to have the movie ready to release on the 2025 movie calendar to coincide with *NSYNC’s 30th anniversary, which would have been in October. Not only did that date come and go, but now the entire project seems to be dead. We’ll have to see if any more information comes to light about where things went wrong and if producer credits really were at the heart of it.

Suppose you dig the Trainwreck series as much as I do. In that case, you’ll have to agree that a documentary about Janet Jackson’s infamous “Wardrobe Malfunction” during the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show would be a fantastic topic for the documentary series to explore. The series, which you can watch with a Netflix subscription, has had some fascinating and occasionally tragic subjects thus far, and while the Wardrobe Malfunction at the Super Bowl hasn't been confirmed to be a subject for one of them, this story would undoubtedly fit to a T.

There are two parts to the story that could be explored: first, how and why it happened. There have been a lot of reasons given, but it’s hard to parse out what the truth is. Second, the aftermath almost ruined Janet Jackson’s career, but left Justin Timberlake, who ripped the costume off, mostly unscathed, and even performed at another Super Bowl. Let’s get into both subjects.

What Really Happened During The Show?

One thing that the Trainwreck series has been great about is getting firsthand accounts from people involved in the subject. In Mayor of Mayhem, it was the friends of Rob Ford. In the hardest one for me to watch and Travis Scott and the Astroworld tragedy, it was people working at the show and people involved in the horrifying crush.

For the Wardrobe Malfunction, we don’t need Janet Jackson herself (though it would be amazing to hear from the legend), but hearing from the people in the booth covering the show and the game would be insightful. The FCC reportedly got an “unprecedented” number of complaints. What was that like to deal with for people working there at the time?

Over time, we’ve gotten different versions of the story, and a lot of people have given conflicting theories. One theory is that it was a publicity stunt. Another is that it really was a problem with the wardrobe, and the costume was supposed to have a red bra underneath. We know something happened to the costume, and Jackson’s breast was fully exposed, but was it really an accident?. We’re 20 years removed from the incident, let’s get to the bottom of what happened.

The Aftermath Was Also Controversial

When the smoke cleared and the calls to the FCC stopped, and the Patriots raised the Lombardi Trophy in triumph, the story of the Super Bowl Halftime show was far from over. In the weeks and months, and indeed, years, that came after the 2004 incident, endless discussions have been had over not only who was to blame, but how it affected both Jackson and Timberlake.

According to at least one report, CBS boss Les Mooves banned Jackson’s videos and any appearances from her on any of Viacom’s stations, which notably included MTV and VH1. Moonves, according to Huffpost, was so embarrassed that he set out to ruin Jackson’s career. He also banned Timberlake from the 2004 Grammys (along with Jackson), but seemingly did little else to equally hurt Timberlake’s career.

What Was Really At Play Here?

It’s hard not to wonder why Jackson, a woman, was so villainized, while Timberlake, who was an equal partner in whatever happened, suffered nowhere near the same condemnation. Why did Jackson’s career seem to suffer so much more than Timberlake’s? For the record, I don’t think either deserved the kind of scrutiny they faced for what was ultimately a silly incident. Sometimes, some people just like to be outraged, I guess.

There are so many interesting parts to this story that a deep dive into it is perfect for the Netflix and the Trainwreck series. It’s a topic everyone remembers and knows something about, but many might not know the whole story from how it came about to the fallout behind it.

Like the Trainwreck: Poop Cruise, there is no horrible tragedy associated with this incident, but it would still make for a captivating watch. Let’s make it happen, Netflix!

Most people spend at least some time silently rooting for our favorite celebrity couples, and a long-standing pairing like Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake will certainly have its fans. It seems to be the most common thing in the world for two celebrities to meet and eventually begin dating, and that’s just what happened in 2007 when pop star Justin Timberlake and actress Jessica Biel eventually struck up a romance after he realized they shared the same sense of humor. The couple was engaged by 2011, and married in 2012, welcoming sons Silas (10) and Phineas (4) to their family in the years after.

When speaking with InStyle (via People) about their romance, The Sinner star revealed that while they are both still very busy, they used to spend even more time apart early in their relationship, because of work. Apparently, one way she’s stayed close to Timberlake from a distance is by wearing the vintage t-shirt of his that she stole nearly 20 years ago. Biel said:

We all know what’s next, so let’s just go ahead and get it out of the way, shall we? AWWWWWWWWW!!! I have a heart that’s basically made of fossilized material, and even I can appreciate the sentiment from the mother of two here, OK?

The 7th Heaven star also admitted that the shirt is now “on its last leg,” seeing as how the “SexyBack” singer has had it since he was a kid. The obvious answer to both the issue of it now smelling like Biel and it being beyond vintage at this point, is for her to just take more of his clothes, amirite? I bet they’ll all look great on her!

It was just in 2024 that the Trolls franchise star penned a sweet Valentine’s Day tribute to his long-time love, and a few months prior sent more sweet words to Biel as he was dealing with some drama because of the release of Britney Spears’ tell all book. The Candy lead was also in full support of her husband after his DWI arrest in summer 2024, so it looks like the two have gotten pretty good at dealing with the difficulties of staying together, especially when fame and its pressures can make that even more difficult. She continued:

Again, AWWWWWW! I’m happy for these two crazy kids. Now if they could just star in a second chance rom-com together, that would be great!

2025 marks 50 years since Saturday Night Live first started making audiences laugh. To commemorate the milestone, a documentary has been released, Ladies & Gentleman… 50 Years of SNL Music, which now streamable with a Peacock subscription. The special offers insight into many of the show's most iconic musical moments. On that note, Justin Timberlake reflected on how he helped make the “Single Ladies” parody with Beyoncé happen and, apparently, the songstress needed some convincing to star in the sketch.

During the show’s 34th season in 2008, Paul Rudd hosted the NBC show with Beyoncé as a musical guest. At the time, the singer’s hit album I Am… Sasha Fierce had just been released and the “Single Ladies” song and video were all the rage. In the doc, Justin Timberlake recalled learning about the initial idea for the SNL sketch:

Since Justin Timberlake is one of the best SNL hosts ever, I'm not surprised cast member Andy Samberg had him on speed dial for the “Single Ladies” sketch when it was coming together. Bobby Moynihan's vision for him, Samberg and Timberlake to play rejected backup dancers for the “Single Ladies” music video as downright genius. Despite that, you still have to wonder how you get Beyoncé on board. Well, as Timberlake later explained, he made a bold move in order to get her to cooperate:

Let it be known, Justin Timberlake is a big SNL MVP! Even though the artist wasn’t even host that week or employed on the sketch show, he went above and beyond to make the Beyoncé segment happen. I don't think too many people would've opted to convince Queen Bey by dressing up like a “Single Ladies” dancer and approaching her head on. Kudos for him for sealing the deal!

This would likely be one of the most popular SNL sketches on YouTube… if it was on there. (Oddly enough, the SNL channel hasn’t posted it). But, to refresh your memory, the sketch has Paul Rudd playing the director of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” music video. However, when the dancers -- played by Timberlake, Moynihan and Samberg -- come out sporting leotards, tights, heels and a lot of confidence, they humorously prove they don't have the necessary skills.

The trio hilariously tries to keep up and grind on Beyoncé, but she stops the shoot. Ultimately, the director fesses up that the dancers are actually his stepsons, who he’s been asked to spend more time with. The Grammy winner tells Rudd's character that it's sweet of him to spend time with them but, when he asks if they can be in the music video, she responds with a “hell no!”

There are tons of fun stories in the Ladies & Gentleman… 50 Years of SNL Music documentary, from how Tom Morello was kicked off the show to the cast reflecting on Kanye West’s political rant. Personally, I just can't believe it's been over 16 years since that "Single Ladies" sketch hit the airwaves. It marks a truly memorable and hilarious moment in Saturday Night Live's history, and I'll remain grateful to Justin Timberlake for working to get Beyoncé on board.

It’s always fun to see when celebs are genuine friends with their co-stars off-screen, in a world where behind-the-scenes drama and celebs' complaints about each other can be so prevalent. And it doesn't hurt when those celebs include a boy band icon Justin Timberlake, his "Dick in a Box" cohort Andy Samberg, and then-future Spider-Man Andrew Garfield. Which is why I couldn't be more cheesed-out by a throwback clip making the rounds involving all three.

Posted to their Instagram, Access Hollywood shared a throwback clip of a Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield interview from when the two co-starred in 2010's The Social Network in 2010. In the clip, Timberlake was absolutely floored by the knowledge that Garfield would be the next big-screen Peter Parker. The initial interaction was funny enough, but it's when Timberlake asked about writing the theme song where the hilarious shout-out to Andy Samberg happened.

Despite being mentioned in jest, the idea is certainly as itriguing as it is amusing. Mainly because I had the mental image of the Amazing Spiderman end credits visuals but in the vein (no pun intended) of their classic SNL skit, ‘Dick in a Box.' That interview was back in 2010, after the point of Samberg’s botched concert with Timberlake.

More recently Samberg did do a sketch with Charli XCX that rivals his famous ‘Dick in a Box’ sketch, though it almost got more R-rated according to Samberg. As for Garfield, clips from The Social Network have been resurfacing and circulating the internet recently, and he's definitely aware of the Tik Tok trend tied to one of his famous lines from the Best Picture winner.

And of course, every time The Social Network is mentioned, let us not forget that people like me are still upset about Garfield not getting an Oscar nomination for his stellar performance. There are plenty of reasons why both he and Timberlake deserved recognition.

Overall, the clip had a similar energy to when I’m just goofing with my friends, it felt genuine and not forced or exaggerated for the camera. So, I guess that’s why it made me happy, more than just the SNL skit callout, it felt organic and that’s why it made me happy. Also, I didn’t know Timberlake was a big Spider-man fan and my respect for him has grown because of it.

One of the greatest honors a public figure can achieve is to either host Saturday Night Live or appear as a musical guest but how many people can say that they accomplished both in one night? Timothée Chalamet

After receiving a 2025 Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, Timothée Chalamet paid tribute to the folk singer in an amusing way. The actor appeared on SNL's 50th season for his third time as host but his first time as a musical guest, performing covers of Dylan's “Outlaw Blues," “Three Angels,” and "Tomorrow Is a Long Time.”

Lady Gaga

In 2013, years before proving she was a phenomenal actor with a Golden Globe-winning performance on American Horror Story and an Oscar-nominated performance in A Star is Born, Lady Gaga pulled double duty at Studio 8H. In addition to her earnest performances of "Do What U Want" and "Gypsy," the pop star (née Stefani Germanotta) appeared in some of the best SNL sketches featuring a famous musician, which were made classic by her willingness to poke fun at herself.

Mick Jagger

After previously hosting and performing alongside his bandmates in The Rolling Stones in 1972, Mick Jagger would return to SNL to headline the 37th season finale on his own. For his performances of classic tracks like "The Last Time" and "It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It)," the legendary frontman was accompanied by Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters, and Jeff Beck.

Donald Glover

Donald Glover (a.k.a. Childish Gambino) opened his Season 43 SNL episode by singing about his ability to do "anything" in jest but was still able to back up that claim quite sufficiently with his hilarious acting and memorable musical performances. In fact, the episode famously marked the debut of the Atlanta star's hit single, "This is America."

Stevie Wonder

The most memorable highlight from Stevie Wonder's Season 8 SNL episode is when he appeared in a sketch alongside Eddie Murphy (who had portrayed the musician a few times before) as an aspiring Stevie Wonder impersonator seeking his help to perfect his impression. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter also performed "Overjoyed" that night "Go Home."

Ariana Grande

For her second appearance on SNL in Season 41, Ariana Grande pulled double duty in more than one way. In addition to performing "Dangerous Woman" and "Be Alright" between sketches, one bit saw her demonstrate her impeccable ability for musical impersonations as a Tidal intern who must help when the music streaming platform loses power.

Elton John

Elton John first appeared on SNL as a musical guest on an episode hosted by fellow musician Johnny Cash in 1982 before returning 29 years later to both host and perform songs with Leon Russell from their album, The Union. In addition to the Grammy-winning headliner, it was a pretty star-studded night at Studio 8H, with cameos by Carmelo Anthony, Will Forte, Tom Hanks and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Miley Cyrus

Twice, Miley Cyrus got to be the best of both worlds on SNL. In Season 39, she poked fun at her VMAs performance with Robin Thicke and sang "Wrecking Ball" and "We Can't Stop" and, two years later, was joined by The Flaming Lips" to perform "Karen Don't Be Sad" after an introduction by special guest Hillary Clinton.

Justin Timberlake

Qualified to join SNL's Five-Timers Club both for his hosting and musical performances is Justin Timberlake, who debuted on the show with N*SYNC before pulling double duty for the first of multiple times on October 11, 2003. The pop star and actor has contributed to some of the show's most iconic musical sketches, including three awesome SNL Digital Shorts alongside Andy Samberg as a crass R&B duo.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has appeared at Studio 8H multiple times, acquiring a number of musical guest gigs and a few jaw-dropping SNL cameos under her belt, since becoming one of the most famous people in the world. In Season 35, she showed up for the second time as a musical guest (singing "You Belong With Me" and "Untouchable") and the first time as a host, appearing in a funny fake trailer for a Twilight rip-off called Firelight, among other sketches.

Paul Simon

No one has appeared on SNL as both the host and musical guest more times than Paul Simon, who also became the first to pull double duty on the show's second episode ever before coming back to do it three more times. The singer-songwriter was also the first person to join the Five-Timers Club by musical performances alone.

Chance The Rapper

In addition to being one of the most innovative hip-hop artists of his time, Chance the Rapper proved that he can act and has some impeccable comedic timing the multiple times he has hosted SNL. The second time, in Season 45, he also served as the musical guest and was joined by Megan Thee Stallion for a performance of "Handsome."

Kris Kristofferson

In July 1976, months before leading A Star is Born with Barbra Streisand, singer and actor Kris Kristofferson both sang and acted as an SNL headliner. He was joined by his then-wife Rita Coolidge for "Eddie the Eunuch" and later performed "I've Got a Life of My Own" on his own.

Debbie Harry

The frontwoman for Blondie performed solo on the Valentine's Day episode of SNL's sixth season, which she also hosted. Between sketches, Debbie Harry sang "Love TKO" and "Come Back Jonee" before introducing additional musical guest Funky 4 + 1's "That's The Joint," which became the first rap song performed on television that night.

Garth Brooks

Garth Brooks first served as both host and musical guest on SNL in the show's 23rd season, during which he appeared in sketch where he falls for Chris Kattan's Mango. The country music singer returned to pull double duty a year later but performed his musical numbers as his rock star alter ego, Chris Gaines.

Dolly Parton

For her sole SNL appearance, Dolly Parton hosted and sang in Season 14. The country music legend appeared in multiple comedic bits poking fun at her chest size and performed a couple of tracks from her 1989 album, White Limozeen.

Willie Nelson

February 21, 1987, marked Willie Nelson's second SNL appearance as a musical guest and sole hosting appearance. The influential "outlaw country" legend, who had done some acting before and has acted plenty of times since, was a great fit for the gig and even performed a song with then-cast member Victoria Jackson.

Drake

Before he became one of the most successful rap artists of his time, Drake (née Aubrey Graham) was an actor, best known for his starring role on the Canadian coming-of-age drama, Degrassi: The Next Generation. He reminded audiences that his acting talents have not waned when, after performing as a musical guest in 2011, he returned to SNL to serve double duty in 2014 and again two years later.

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish became the first person born in the 21st Century to host SNL when she appeared in the Season 47 Christmas episode, which was met with much acclaim despite her not being able to stop laughing in a few sketches. The Grammy and Oscar winner's parents introduced her and her brother Finneas' performance of "Happier Than Ever" before they later returned to perform "Male Fantasy."

Halsey

Before lending her voice to Sing 2 and appearing in the A24 horror movie MaXXXine, Halsey was considered a non-actor who nailed her SNL hosting gig from Season 44. The self-professed fan of the show was a hilarious standout in sketches and also wowed audiences with her musical performances, such as when she painted a full portrait while singing "Eastside."

Ray Charles

Before making a cameo in, arguably, the best movie based on an SNL character, 1980's The Blues Brothers, Ray Charles headlined the fifth episode of the show's third season. The influential musical genius was surprisingly good and sketches and unsurprisingly shined with his performances of "I Can See Clearly Now," "What I'd Say," "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning," and "I Can't Stop Loving You."

Olivia Newton-John

Having gained international fame from playing Sandy in Grease, there was no question that Olivia Newton-John would be a great fit on SNL as both a host and musical guest. The Australian singer and actor actually appeared in a parody of the 1978 musical movie classic when she took the stage for the Season 7 finale, during which she also performed songs from her hit album, Physical.

Frank Zappa

Frank Zappa's hosting duties in SNL's third season were largely seen as a disaster, due to his tendency to go off-script, which is said to be why he never appeared on the show again. However, his performances of "Dancin' Fool," "The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing," and "Rollo" with the Mothers of Invention should still be recognized as highlights of that night.

Quincy Jones

In SNL's 15th season, influential music producer Quincy Jones made his sole appearance on the show as a host and musical guest. However, notably, he was not the only musical guest to appear that night, seen performing "Back On The Block," "The Verb To Be," and "Wee B. Dooinit" with the likes of Take 6, Tevin Campbell, Andrae Crouch, Sandra Crouch, Kool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, Melle Mel, Quincy D III, Siedah Garrett, and Al Jarreau.

Sting

Sting is qualified for the Five-Timers Club with his number of SNL appearances as the musical guest – one of which, in Season 16, also saw him headline as the host. The one-time Police frontman would later return to host the show again in 1997 but with musical guest Veruca Salt.

Harry Styles

In November 2019, Harry Styles made his debut as an SNL host on a night that also saw his induction into the Five-Timers Club as a musical guest. The English singer and actor had previously appeared three times with the boy band One Direction and once as a solo artist in 2017.

Gary Busey

Following his Oscar-nominated performance as the late, eponymous rock 'n roll pioneer in 1978's The Buddy Holly Story, Gary Busey made his sole appearance on SNL as a host. The actor also performed the song "Stay All Night" as one of three musical guests for that episode, the other two being Gregory Hines and Eubie Blake.

Bruno Mars

As he mentioned in his opening monologue, Bruno Mars had no prior acting experience (unless you count his cinematic debut as "Little Elvis" in Honeymoon in Vegas) before appearing as a host in Season 38 of SNL. Nevertheless, he proved to be a fantastic comedic actor in an episode that was also graced with a cameo by Tom Hanks, who showed up to introduce the pop star's performance of "Locked Out of Heaven."

Desi Arnaz

Desi Arnaz used to perform music and comedy on an almost regular basis when starring in the classic TV sitcom, I Love Lucy, as Ricky Ricardo. Therefore, appearing on SNL as both the host and musical guest (alongside his son, Desi Arnaz Jr.) should have been a breeze for the Cuban-born performer.

Lizzo

Lizzo's second appearance on SNL as a musical guest (for which she performed "About Damn Time" and "Special") was also her first time hosting the series. In her Season 47 episode, she proved to be a natural – especially in one sketch as a flutist who cannot play a note with twerking in unison – but also got a few cases of the giggles, endearingly so.

Art Garfunkel

Following his appearances with his one-time singing partner, Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel went solo on March 11, 1978, as the host and musical guest. In addition to his performances of "All I Know," "Scarborough Fair," and "Crying in My Sleep," he was joined by Stephen Bishop for "Wonderful World."

Lily Tomlin

For her first hosting gig, on the sixth episode of SNL's first season, comedy icon Lily Tomlin also filled in as the musical guest, performing "St. James Infirmary" with Howard Shore & the All Nurse Band. In what would now be considered a controversial SNL moment if it was not largely forgotten, Tomlin would return to pull double duty in Season 8 but, for her musical performances, donned blackface to play a male R&B singer character named Pervis Hawkins.

Millennials everywhere were thrown into a frenzy last year when *NSYNC reunited to release a single for the Trolls Band Together soundtrack, and there was hope that a reunion tour might be in the cards. That didn’t pan out, in part because Justin Timberlake was already prepping for a new album release and world tour. It almost felt like history was repeating itself two decades after the artist first went solo. However, while Chris Kirkpatrick confirmed that there was “animosity” when *NSYNC’s frontman put the band on perpetual hiatus in 2002, now they seem to mostly be over it.

On the new documentary Larger Than Life: Reign of the Boybands (available to stream with a Paramount+ subscription), *NSYNC member Chris Kirkpatrick recalled that after the band wrapped its 2002 tour, they were taking a break for Justin Timberlake to work on his solo album, which everyone was supportive of. The label apparently told the singers to come back in six months to start making new music, but due to Justified’s success, Timberlake never returned. Kirkpatrick said on the doc (via People):

Johnny Wright, who was *NSYNC’s manager and continues to manage the Everything I Thought It Was artist, talked in the documentary about how Justin Timberlake didn’t really have any choice but to ride the wave of his solo success, and while fellow boybander Lance Bass understood the predicament, he didn’t like the way it was handled, saying:

Fast-forward more than 20 years later, and other than recording the single for Trolls Band Together — the third feature film in the franchise that Justin Timberlake stars in with Anna Kendrick — the five bandmates haven’t worked together again.

Joey Fatone Supports Justin Timberlake And Talks *NSYNC’s Future

With so much time having passed, much of the early aughts drama seems to be water under the bridge now. The band did reunite for a surprise performance at a JT concert in March, and Joey Fatone even supported his bandmate at the November 9 stop of the Forget Tomorrow World Tour in Orlando, Florida. He posted a fun video on Instagram, taking fans backstage and saying how proud he is of Justin Timberlake:

That’s how we would describe the following 32 pop stars, rock bands, and masters of the rhyme who have brought the house down at Studio 8H as memorable SNL musical guests on multiple occasions.

Billy Joel

The "Piano Man" himself first performed at Studio 8H in Season 3 on an episode hosted by Chevy Chase, which was also the first time the short-lived SNL cast member came back to host. After a return in 1981, Billy Joel's third time on the show was eight years later in 1989, which saw him perform "We Didn't Start the Fire."

Foo Fighters

Following two appearances with Nirvana and a third as an impromptu drummer for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Dave Grohl made his SNL debut as frontman of Foo Fighters in December 1995, a year after the release of their debut album. The rock band (which has gone through a vast rotation of members since) also performed with Mick Jagger as special guests in 2012 and some of the best SNL sketches featuring musicians have involved Grohl.

Miley Cyrus

Having become famous as a TV star (while leading Disney Channel's Hannah Montana) before her music career really took off, it makes sense that Miley Cyrus made her SNL debut as a host in 2011 before returning as both host and musical guest two years later. Some of the Grammy winner's most notable performances on the show include the SNL 40th Anniversary Special and a pre-taped rendition of "Wish You Were Here" that aired during the Covid-era "SNL At Home" days.

Justin Timberlake

A celebrity who qualifies for SNL's Five-Timers Club as both a host and musical guest is Justin Timberlake, who might be one of the best SNL hosts we have ever seen for that matter. His first time performing music on the show, however, was in 2000 with NSYNC but some of his especially memorable musical moments on the show have been his raunchy collaborations with Andy Samberg.

Coldplay

A year after releasing their hit debut album, Parachutes, in 2000, British rock band Coldplay was booked on SNL for the first of several gigs. Lead singer Chris Martin is known for appearing in a few sketches – including one of the most popular SNL clips on YouTube, in which he helps Andrew Garfield finish The Amazing Spider-Man 2's kissing scene – and performed solo for the first Covid-era "At Home" episode.

Beyoncé

If you include her two appearances as part of Destiny's Child and her special guest appearance alongside her husband, Jay-Z, Beyoncé has performed on SNL five times between 2001 and 2008. She also appeared in a sketch offering a humorous dramatization of the making of the "Single Ladies" video and has been impersonated countless times by SNL and Groundlings alum Maya Rudolph.

Randy Newman

The second-ever episode of SNL marked the show's first appearance by Randy Newman, who would perform five more times up until 1988. The singer-songwriter would expand his audience when he wrong captivating, award-nominated songs for several beloved Pixar movies, including Toy Story's "You Got a Friend in Me."

Eminem

Most of Eminem's many SNL performances have been collaborative efforts. For instance, the rapper made his 1999 debut on the show with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, performed "Stan" with Dido the following year, and would bring Skylar Grey along for two separate occasions – for "Survival" in 2013 and a medley of "Walk on Water," "Stan," and "Love the Way You Lie" in 2017.

Taylor Swift

Any of the several times that Taylor Swift has appeared at Studio 8H has been a notable occasion. This not only includes her many appearances as a musical guest (the second of which doubled as a hosting gig) but also her jaw-dropping SNL cameos, such as her impromptu introduction of Ice Spice in the Season 49 premiere.

Paul Simon

No one has appeared on SNL as a musical guest more times than Paul Simon, who was also one of several performers when he hosted the show's second ever episode. Many of his 15 gigs (as of 2018) were shared with musicians like George Harrison, his wife Edie Brickell, and Alicia Keys.

Rihanna

Surprisingly, it was not until 2009 when Rihanna made her SNL debut, featuring guest Young Jeezy for her performance of "Hard." She would go on to show up at Studio 8H several more time, two of which saw her appear in SNL Digital Shorts with Andy Samberg as "Shy Ronnie."

Sting

The Police had already broken up by the time Sting made his SNL debut in 1987. Before the end of the 20th Century, he would appear five more times, including one gigs doubling as host and musical guest and another as just the host, featuring performances by Veruca Salt.

Arcade Fire

Arcade Fire had the pleasure of performing alongside Mick Jagger as special guests when the Rolling Stones frontman hosted in 2012, which we will also count as their third SNL gig. The indie rock outfit has also appeared in a few sketches, such as an SNL Digital Shorts and a game show-style bit challenging host Tina Fey to guess who is a new cast member or a member of the band.

Jack White

On the same night Woody Harrelson was inducted into the Five-Timers Club, Jack White was also given a robe for preforming on SNL for the fifth time in February 2023. This would include when he made his debut in 2002, billed alongside former bandmate Meg White as The White Stripes.

Leon Redbone

Before his death in 2019, Leon Redbone appeared as a musical guest on SNL four times, first in 1976 and lastly in 1983. While the blues musician would go on to do some acting, such as voicing Leon the Snowman in the 2003 Christmas movie classic, Elf, he never appeared in any sketches during any of his visits to Studio 8H.

Linda Ronstadt

After making her Studio 8H debut in a cold open cameo in 1977, Linda Ronstadt would first perform on SNL two years later with co-musical guest Phoebe Snow. She shared her next three gigs with the cast of The Pirates of Penzance in 1980, The Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán in 1987, and Aaron Neville in 1989.

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

Rock and roll icons Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers performed on SNL eight times. The last time was in 2010 – for which Petty appeared in an SNL Digital Short opposite Andy Samberg and host Alec Baldwin – before the frontman's death in 2017.

Bonnie Raitt

As of 1994, Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Bonnie Raitt has been an SNL musical guest four times. Her debut was in 1978 but the three subsequent appearance would all occur in the early 1990s.

Aerosmith

Despite breaking out a few years before SNL premiered, Aerosmith would not appear on the show until 1990, when they also starred in a legendary "Wayne's World" segment with Tom Hanks as Barry, their roadie. The rock quartet would perform on the show three more times, the last occurring in 2001.

Neil Young

A surprising late bloomer to SNL is Neil Young, who made his debut in 1989 after being impersonated by Dana Carvey a couple of years earlier. The folk singer and part-time Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young member returned for his third time more than a decade later in 2000.

Mariah Carey

One of the most esteemed pop divas of her generation, Mariah Carey, first appeared on SNL as a musical guest in 1990. Her fourth time, in 2008, saw her joined by T-Pain for a performance of "Migrate."

Beck

After his 1993 hit single "Loser" made him a star, Beck debuted on SNL in 1997. This was the first of several appearance for the alt rock hero, the second of which saw him act in a sketch framed as a Behind the Music episode about Fat Albert & the Junkyard Gang.

Maroon 5

Pop rock band Maroon 5 made their first of several appearances in 2004, shortly after making their mainstream breakthrough. Frontman Adam Levine (also known as a judge on NBC's The Voice) has also appeared on the show solo to host in 2013 and join Kanye West in a performance of "Heard 'Em Say" in 2005.

Prince

Unless you count his performance of "Electric Chair" at SNL's 15th Anniversary Special in 1989, Prince was only a musical guest on the show three times. However, after his untimely death in 2016, the show aired a special featuring clips of all his Studio 8H sets, highlights of the recurring "Prince Show" sketches featuring Fred Armisen as the pop star, and anecdotes shared by host Jimmy Fallon.

Natalie Merchant

Natalie Merchant's first two appearances on SNL were as the lead singer of the indie rock group 10,000 Maniacs in the late '80s and early '90s. Her two subsequent gigs as a musical guest occurred in 1995 and 1998 after she had gone solo.

Justin Bieber

Following his breakthrough as a teen pop sensation, Justin Bieber made his SNL debut at 16 years old in a 2010 episode which also saw him participate in a sketch with host Tina Fey. The Canadian artist went on to double as host and musical guest for his second gig in 2013 and also made a few unexpected cameos, such as in a Church Lady revival from 2011 and in 2012 for the 100th SNL Digital Short.

Lizzo

Lizzo made her Studio 8H debut in a big way, performing as the musical guest on an episode hosted by the legendary Eddie Murphy making an epic SNL return in 2019. A couple years later, she returned as both musical guest and host and, while she could not stop laughing during some sketches, she was pretty stone-faced for a bit that demonstrated her talent for simultaneously twerking and playing the flute.

Green Day

Green Day emerged as one of the biggest bands of the '90s but would only perform on the SNL once during that decade. The punk trio would, however, return twice more during the 2000s, first following the success of their Grammy-winning album, American Idiot, in 2005 and again in 2009 to promote 21st Century Breakdown.

Billie Eilish

A non-actor who killed it at as an SNL host for the first time in 2021 is Billie Eilish, who also served as a musical guest for her second time that night. The Grammy and Oscar-winning pop sensation has gone on to participate in sketches in her subsequent appearances as well, such as when she joined Barbie cast member Kate McKinnon for a music video for the Season 49 Christmas show.

James Taylor

James Taylor had the rare opportunity to perform three songs in multiple episodes: when he made his SNL debut in 1976 and both times he appeared in the '90s. He would also play a song during host Michael Palin's monologue in 1979 and once served as a co-host and co-musical guest with Paul Simon in 1980.

Jay-Z

Jay-Z qualifies for this list by his solo appearances as an SNL musical guest alone. However, he has taken the stage at Studio 8H for a few special appearances, such as when he joined wife, Beyoncé, for "Crazy in Love" in 2003 and when he performed his rap on Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie" in 2013.

Kanye West

Kanye West's debut SNL performance in October 2005 was preceded by a cameo by Mike Myers, reference their awkward appearance together at a telethon benefitting victims of Hurricane Katrina. He would later be joined by Pusha T to perform "Runaway" for his fourth gig and memorably performed "I Love It" with Lil Pump dressed as water bottles for his seventh appearance in a 2018 episode that would end in controversy when the rapper went on an unexpected political tirade.

Mark Wahlberg - Wahlburgers

The first Wahlburgers opened in Hingham, Massachusetts in 2011. The chain has since grown to dozens of stores all over the country and was the subject of a reality show for 10 seasons on A&E. The chain is collectively owned by three Wahlbergs, including Mark and Donnie, along with their chef brother, Paul. 

Ryan Gosling - Tagline

Ryan Gosling has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and so it makes sense he would open a restaurant in Beverly Hills. Co-owned by the Barbie star and Chef Ben Benameur, the Moroccan joint serves up delicious food in a cozy atmosphere.

Lady Gaga - Joanne Trattoria

Joanne Germanotta was a beloved aunt to Lady Gaga (whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta). Not only did Gaga name a 2016 album after her, but the family has also opened Joanne Trattoria on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. In true Gaga style, the restaurant is not only a great place for Italian food, but it supports local artists, hosts regular drag shows, and has regular performances by local musicians. 

Robert De Niro - Nobu

Robert De Niro first became a regular at chef Nobu Matsuhisa's LA sushi joint Nobu way back in the 1980s. In the mid-90s, De Niro approached Matsuhisa about opening a New York spot. Nobu opened in 1994 in Tribeca and the company has since become a powerhouse in the hospitality industry, with dozens of restaurants and hotels all over the world. 

Michael Imperioli - Scarlet

White Lotus star Michael Imperioli has dabbled in the restaurant industry for a long time. In the mid-'90s Imperioli and his wife opened a speakeasy-style bar called Ciel Rouge, in Tribeca. Almost 30 years later, and 20 after Ciel Rouge closed in 2005, the couple opened Scarlet on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It sticks with the classy, chill speakeasy vibe that made their first venture successful. 

Sandra Bullock - Walton's Fancy & Staple

Walton's Fancy & Staple in Austin, TX, is pretty much exactly what you would expect from Sandra Bullock. It's an upscale neighborhood place with hearty food and a cheery atmosphere. Walton's is the Speed star's second restaurant in her adopted hometown. The first, Bess Bistro, closed in 2016 after a successful 10-year run. Walton's opened in 2009. 

Ludacris - Chicken And Beer

Is there anything better than good fried chicken and great beer to wash it down? If you're in Atlanta and don't check out Ludacris' place, simply named Chicken and Beer, you're missing out on those two wonderful things that pair so well together.

Norman Reedus - Nic & Norman's

Norman Reedus is famous for playing rough-around-the-edges characters like Daryl in The Walking Dead, but his restaurant is not. Nic & Norman's, which has locations across the Southeast is rustic, but it's not rough in any way. The upscale but relaxed gastropubs are sure to satisfy anyone. 

Susan Sarandon - SPiN

When Susan Sarandon and her fellow investors opened SPiN in 2009, there was a surge in the popularity of table tennis (or ping pong). The fad was pretty short-lived, but the table tennis-focused restaurants have remained successful with multiple locations around the country. 

Dan Aykroyd - House Of Blues

One of Dan Aykroyd's most beloved SNL characters, Elwood Blues of The Blues Brothers, has proven to be more than just a role for the actor. On Thanksgiving Day 1992, Aykroyd and his partner Isaac Tigrett (who founded the Hard Rock Cafe), opened the first House of Blues in Cambridge, MA. It has since grown into one of the largest chains of live music venues in the world, and serves some pretty delicious food, too. 

Eva Longoria - Beso

Eva Longoria can do no wrong on the big and small screens, but she didn't have much luck in the restaurant industry. Her steakhouse in LA, Beso, ran into multiple problems in its short run, though none were the fault of the actress. 

Kevin Hart - Hart House

Kevin Hart's LA chain Hart House was ambitious. He wanted to create an affordable vegan chain, and despite rave reviews, it just couldn't make it in the market. The company closed all of its locations in 2024 after initially finding success. 

Issa Rae - Hilltop Coffee And Kitchen

Issa Rae is a true force of nature both in front of and behind the camera. She's also found success in the food industry. Hilltop Coffee And Kitchen brings high-end coffee vibes to historical Black neighborhoods in LA, like Inglewood and View Park. 

Danny Trejo - Trejo's Tacos

Everyone loves tacos and every loves Danny Trejo. So of course a concept like Trejo's Tacos is sure to work and it has succeeded greatly. The chain has multiple locations across LA and has even spawned a second concept: Trejo's Donuts which also opened to rave reviews. 

Channing Tatum - Saints And Sinners

Saints And Sinners, a bar on Bourbon Street in New Orleans co-owned by Channing Tatum was a wild success... at least for a time. The industry is notoriously fickle and Tatum and his partners learned that the hard way when the bar closed in the summer of 2024 after 12 great years. 

Justin Timberlake - The Twelve Thirty Club

Justin Timberlake first dabbled in the food industry in the early teens when he helped design a Memphis-style BBQ joint in New York City called Southern Hospitality. Though he wasn't an owner, he was involved in the concept phase of the place and was a regular there. More recently, he has teamed up with restauranteur Sam Fox to open The Twelve Thirty Club in Nashville. 

Nicholas Braun - Jac’s On Bond

Cousin Greg may not always get the most respect on Succession, but the actor who plays him, Nicholas Braun, sure gets respect in the hospitality industry. Braun is an investor in multiple restaurants in New York City, including a chill bar and restaurant called Jac's on Bond Street in the trendy NoHo neighborhood. 

Zach Braff - Mermaid Oyster Bar

MacDougal Street in New York's Greenwich Village is home to some great restaurants, like the legendary Caffe Reggio and Mamoun's Falafels. It's also where you can find Zach Braff's more upscale, but still laid-back seafood spot appropriately called Mermaid Oyster Bar. 

Anthony Mackie - NoBar

Like others on this list (and in the world), Anthony Mackie has had mixed results as a bar/restaurant owner. His most famous spot, NoBar, opened in Brooklyn in 2011, followed by a second Booklyn location in 2013. Sadly both closed in 2015. 

Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis - Planet Hollywood

The granddaddy of all actor-owned restaurants has to be Planet Hollywood. The first Planet Hollywood opened in New York City in 1991. Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis, among others, were all investors in the concept and, at least at first, the restaurant was a huge success, opening additional locations across the globe. At its peak, there were upwards of 60 locations in the late '90s, but the fun didn't last. Things started to unravel and the stars started to jump shit and most of the locations, other than their most successful ones, closed. 

Richard Gere - Bedford Post Inn

Legendary actor Richard Gere doesn't just own a restaurant, he owns an 8-room bed and breakfast called the Bedford Post Inn in... appropriately, Bedford, NY. The stylish and quaint inn does include a spot to eat, the Bedford Post Tavern, and the inn and the restaurant both draw all kinds of celebrities for a restful stay or a delicious dinner. 

Robert Redford - Zoom

It shouldn't come as any surprise to learn that Robert Redford's former restaurant in Park City, UT was home to a lot of home to a lot powerbrokers during the Sundance Film Festival for many years. Prior to closing in 2016, the hot spot was where the elite met to eat and strike deals during one of the biggest film festivals in the world. 

Hugh Jackman - Laughing Man Coffee

The origin story for Hugh Jackman's Laughing Man Coffee is one of the best on this list. The Aussie actor and his wife took a trip to Ethiopia to learn more about coffee and how the beans were grown. There, according to the coffee shop's website, Jackman met a coffee farmer named Dukale. Dukale gave Jackman a real hands-on experience and after the trip, he and some partners opened Laughing Man Coffee with the goal of working directly with farmers around the world to bring their coffee to New Yorkers. 

Jon Bon Jovi - Soul Kitchen And JBJ's

Jon Bon Jovi may be most famous for being the voice of the band named after him, but he's dabbled a lot in acting, and a little in the hospitality biz. His first venture was started by his foundation and called Soul Kitchen. The restaurant, located in Red Bank, NJ, sells food for whatever hungry customers can afford. Bon Jovi has also opened a spot on the famous Broadway strip in Nashville called JBJ's which features live music and a full menu, in addition to beer and booze, of course.

Piper Perabo - Jack's Wife Freda

Piper Perabo got her big break playing a bartender in Coyote Ugly and while the New York City chain she's an investor in, called Jack's Wife Frida, doesn't feature half-dressed women dancing on the bar, it's got something even better: delicious Mediterranean food. With five locations across the city, you can always find what you're craving, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 

Jessica Biel - Au Fudge

Au Fudge, which closed its doors in 2018, was something unique in the celebrity restaurant world - a kid's restaurant. As the name implies, Jessica Biel's spot was all about dessert and candy. It also had all the stuff kids love, like chicken fingers, on the menu. The world needs more of these, right parents?

Debi Mazar - The Tuscan Gun

Debi Mazar and her chef husband's love of food was first shown through a cooking show on the Cooking Channel. They spun that into a Tuscany-themed New York restaurant called The Tuscan Gun. Using chef Mazar's husband Gabriele Corcos' recipes, the Italian joint brought the best of Italy to Williamsburg. 

Quentin Tarantino - Do Hwa

For years, Quentin Tarantino's Korean restaurant Do Hwa brought the delicious flavors of East Asia to the West Village in New York. While very few people would call Tarantino "understated," his restaurant was, in all the best ways. It was cozy and delicious before it closed in 2018.

Jerry Ferrara - Fat Sal's

A sandwich joint called Fat Sal's is just perfect for Entourage star Jerry Ferrara. It sounds exactly like something Turtle would open on the show. Fat Sal's has multiple locations around LA and is a great spot if you want traditional deli sandwiches sold by a guy you can be sure loves them as much as you do. 

Justin Theroux - Ray's

Justin Theroux is a jack of all trades. He's an actor, a writer, and an ex-husband to Jennifer Aniston. He's also a bar owner, along with partner Nicolaus Braun with Ray's on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The dive bar is everything you could ever want in an unpretentious local water hole, which is no surprise, coming from Theroux. 

Ashton Kutcher - Dolce Enoteca E Ristorante

Ashton Kutcher has never been afraid to make risky investments. Some have paid off handsomely, like his early investments in Spotify and Uber. Others haven't worked out so well, like his short-lived Italian spot, Dolce Enoteca E Ristorante. The hot spot worked for a while but it closed in 2020, like so many other restaurants. 

Ty Burrell - The Eating Establishment

Modern Family star Ty Burrell took a slightly different route to restaurant ownership than most of the other actors on his list. Instead of starting a new spot, he bought an old one. The Eating Establishment, which dates back to 1970, was purchased by Burrell and other investors in 2016 and they've continued to run the popular Park City, UT restaurant ever since. 

Eminem - Mom's Spaghetti

Mom's Spaghetti is the perfect kind of place for Eminem to own, right? The Detroit, Michigan-based eatery has name that perfectly describes the food you can get there, and it's taken straight from an Eminem lyric in "Lose Yourself."

Jon Huertas - Clutch

Jon Huertas, best known for playing Brad Alcerro in Sabrina The Teenage Witch, is the proud owner of Clutch Roadhouse in Culver City, CA. Clutch is known for its great food and charitable works, both very important to the This Is Us star. 

Classic '90s sitcom Boy Meets World may have ended nearly a quarter century ago, but the stars are keeping the legacy alive by regularly getting together to talk about the beloved show. Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel, and Will Friedle recently reunited with Matthew Lawrence to reminisce about days gone by, leading Lawrence to reveal how he made a bad impression on Justin Timberlake when NSYNC would visit the Boy Meets World set.

Matthew Lawrence played Jack across the last three seasons of Boy Meets World from 1997-2000, which was also around the height of the boy band rivalry between NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys. On the Pod Meets World podcast hosted by Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel, and Will Friedle, Lawrence opened up about an exchange he had with Justin Timberlake about their encounters on the set of Boy Meets World:

Lawrence explained that he was a huge fan of the singer when he spoke with Timberlake at the time that his debut solo album Justified released in 2002, which was only a couple of years after Boy Meets World ended with its seventh season. The actor's former co-stars all seemed pretty shocked to hear what Timberlake had said to him, but it's safe to say that they got to know him a whole lot better working together than Justin Timberlake did during the NSYNC set visits. Lawrence went on:

Eric and Jack were facing living in Topanga and Angela's former dorm, which didn't just mean inheriting stuffed animals, nail polish, and a lot of pink. There was also a massive Backstreet Boys poster that I honestly would have loved to have on my own wall back in the day.

The boys bantered over the poster a bit, with Jack insisting that "BSB rocks!" to try and make the best of the situation. They then had a slight disagreement about who "the cute one" was, with Eric saying it was Howie Dorough and Jack saying he thought it was Nick Carter. All in all, it's a fun gag that strikes me as even funnier now that I know Justin Timberlake felt a bit of bad blood toward some of the Boy Meets World cast.

The world of musician biopics is gearing up for what could be a pure doozy of a movie, as it was recently confirmed that Britney Spears’ bestselling 2023 memoir The Woman in Me will be adapted by Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu. Fans no doubt can’t wait to see the multi-hyphenate talent’s complicated and controversial life get dramatized and stylized for the big screen, and Spears’ former assistant has specific thoughts about who should star as both the “Toxic” artist and her famed ex Justin Timberlake.

Felicia Culotta is a name that’s no doubt familiar to longtime Britney Spears diehards, as she served as the Grammy winner’s personal assistant during her first decade of mega-fame (including the release of her first studio album). So she obviously has a keen perspective on what Hollywood standouts might be a good fit for Spears’ salad days on MTV and beyond. Here’s who Culotta believes would do the best job, according to TMZ:

It’s not hard to see how Emma Roberts could step in and do a bang-up job playing Britney Spears. She’s capable of playing vulnerable innocence, has the right kind of coquettish energy to pull off the Brit-ster’s sexy vibes, and can also flip a switch into becoming someone’s worst nightmare right quick. Truly, her appearances just on American Horror Story and Scream Queens run that particular gamut, while also showcasing her prickly sense of humor. Not that Spears is known for being a nightmare in public, as she doesn’t go out in public much at all anymore, but she certainly knows how to dish out I’m That Bitch energy on social media. (At least whenever she hasn’t sporadically deleted her Instagram.)

When it comes to Justin Timberlake, whose relationship with Spears was thrust back into the pop culture spotlight after the latter confessed to having an abortion when they were still dating, Felicia Culotta also has a marquee actor in mind:

With his last two big-screen roles coming in Dune 2 and Wonka, Chalamet has proven himself to be a worthy performer in whatever genre he's faced with. That said, Justin Timberlake has at times been one of the most charasmatic pop stars on the planet, with a voice that many would die to have. So it would be interesting to see if the Bones and All actor could properly portray that energy.

I'd also just love to see Chalamet in a mocked-up version of SNL's "Dick in a Box," but I guess that wouldn't be an automatic entry in a biopic about Britney Spears.

Felicia Culotta worked closely with Britney Spears from 1998-2007, and then again from 2009-2016, and appeared in recent documentaries and docuseries such as Framing Britney Spears and Britney vs. Spears. And yes, she also has an idea for who could play her in the biopic, throwing out this A-lister's name as a top choice:

A movie starring Emma Roberts, Timothée Chalamet and Drew Barrymore would no doubt turn some heads, especially if the project is a Britney Spears biopic. But it's hard to say if any of those choices could legitimately make the cut, as Spears herself reportedly has final say on casting decisions. Considering Michelle Williams did such a great job narrating the audiobook, it’ll be interesting to see if her voice plays into the film in some way.

Will The Woman In Me become one of the best music movies or best musician biopics of all time? It’s certainly possible, although the movie has to actually get made first, and it remains to be seen if that will actually happen. In the meantime, our 2024 movie schedule has more than enough worthy entertainment to keep everyone sated until more updates come.

There’s been a lot of developments today regarding Justin Timberlake’s DWI. During his virtual court hearing today he pled not guilty to the misdemeanor charge of driving drunk, and he had his driver's license revoked. Now, the judge is scolding the pop singer’s lawyer over how he's been speaking to the media about the case.

This whole situation has been highly publicized, and according to People, Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace has not liked how Timberlake’s lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., has been speaking to the press, so much so that he warned him to “be mindful when giving comments.” The judge also added that it feels like Burke’s statements:

This led to Irace saying that if the comments continue, he might implement a gag order, which would make it so Burke and others couldn’t speak about the case publically. The judge also said that he could require Timberlake to show up to court in person. This comes after the singer attended court virtually from Antwerp, Belgium. He’s been on tour (apparently he even joked about the DWI on stage), and at the moment, he’s on the European leg.

Over the course of this investigation, Burke has maintained that Timberlake wasn’t intoxicated while driving. There were also reports that there was allegedly evidence to help get it dismissed.

The lawyer has spoken a fair amount about the proceedings, and he told People in a statement on July 26:

An insider also claimed that “he has a real drinking problem.” However, as stated earlier, there are also alleged claims that could help support his innocence. So, there are a lot of rumors floating around for and against the “Cry Me A River” singer, and it’s hard to know what’s true and what’s not.

According to this new report, Justin Timberlake was being followed by friends when he was pulled over for his arrest. An unnamed woman and her husband had been behind him in another car and pulled over when the police stopped him. When the actor was arrested, the woman was allowed to drive his rental car back to her house.

According to the report, the woman arrived at the hotel where Justin Timberlake partied with friends, two hours before he arrived. It's alleged that this woman was drinking before Timberlake arrived, and yet the officers felt she was sober enough to take the singer's rental car back to her home without issue.

Edward Burke Jr., the legal attorney for Justin Timberlake, believes that this version of events will be enough to get the DWI case against him dismissed. If the officers were unable to "properly evaluate" the abilities of someone who was self-admittedly drinking before Timberlake, that could allegedly be enough to convince a judge that things weren't handled correctly.

Throughout Saturday Night Live’s nearly 50-season run, the series has brought out some very memorable musical guests who rocked the studio and sketches that you can’t help but laugh at no matter how many times you’ve seen it. For example, “Dick in a Box” -- the digital short featuring Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake, initially aired in 2006 but is shown for every single Christmas compilation episode -- is an irresistible fan-favorite. While it's not one of the most popular SNL clips on YouTube, it's certainly one of the show's incredibly iconic digital shorts. However, Samberg recalled a time he completely botched a live performance of it.

During an episode of The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast, the hosts got to talking about the sketch, and Samberg looked back at the time he performed the song with Timberlake at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden back in 2007. Before the performance, he was pretty jazzed about it, and I can’t say I blame him:

The location that they’ve settled upon for their business is currently New Picture House Cinema, which was originally built in 1930. As noted by the news outlet, Timberlake and Woods recently received the go-ahead to convert the space. The bar is set to be an extension of the T-Squared Social, which already has a location in New York.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time that the athlete and the music man have teamed up for business purposes. As it stands, they’re both shareholders in the Nexus Luxury Collection real estate company. When it comes to their latest collaboration, they reportedly settled upon St. Andrews, in part, because of its connection to the game of golf. Said location is home to “The Old Course,” which was established in 1552. The “Mirrors” singer is a massive fan of the sport and was recently spotted walking to a lesson in New York. And, of course, the four-time PGA Champion is one of the greatest players to ever pick up a club.

When it comes to T-Squared Social in St. Andrews, the place will apparently be very similar to the New York location. The space is set to offer a variety of activities, including darts, golf simulators and duckpin bowling. And the icing on the cake is that the location’s movie roots won’t completely be done away with. It would seem that the two businessmen plan to maintain two screens from the cinema, which has been experiencing financial difficulties in recent years. All in all, this sounds like quite a venture, which could prove to be lucrative.

In the aftermath of Justin Timberlake’s DWI arrest in New York, reported details regarding what occurred that night have steadily been shared via official reports and insiders. It’s currently known that the 43-year-old superstar was stopped after midnight on Tuesday, June 18 and that before he was taken into custody, he’d been "advised not to drive" on a prior occasion that night. It’s mentioned in the police’s report that Timberlake told authorities he’d only had a single drink before he eventually got on the road. Now, the bartender who allegedly served the singer that night is speaking out on his martini claim. 

Reports previously indicated that the “Suit & Tie” performer was hanging out at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor amid his The Forget Tomorrow World Tour. He was allegedly with friends at the time, which is mentioned in the report as well. The Grammy winner also apparently said that he was following his buddies home. Speaking to the martini point, the bartender who served the star confirmed to People that he did indeed only have one drink. And another employee backed up the assertion while speaking with the outlet: 

Justin Timberlake was reportedly stopped twice by officer Michael Arkinson that night. According to the report, the multi hyphenate’s eyes “were bloodshot and glassy” at the time. It was also noted that a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath.” He was later taken into custody and, after remaining in jail overnight, he was arranged early in the morning, before being “released on his own recognizance.” In addition to the DWI charge, Timberlake also received court citations for “running a stop sign and not traveling in the correct traffic lane.” As for why he was charged with driving while intoxicated, his lawyer, Ed Burke, said that it stemmed from his client refusing a breath test at the time.

Reports have surfaced in regard to Justin Timberlake’s alleged drinking tendencies. Sources claim “he has a real drinking problem” and that “he’s been hiding and masking it for years.” Since his arrest, the former NSYNC member has resumed touring, and it was during a show at The United Center in Chicago that he addressed his arrest. As mentioned by People, Timberlake took the time to thank his longtime fans who’ve stuck by him over the years, saying that they’ve been “such a big and beautiful part of [his] life.”

Someone who’s also been discussed during this time is the star’s wife and the mother of his two kids, Jessica Biel, who received a tribute from the singer this past Valentine’s Day. Insiders claim that Biel feels relieved that no one was hurt during the incident. However, it’s also been alleged that she’s “definitely feeling disappointed” over her hubby’s actions. All of this comes months after Biel dealt with backlash alongside her husband after his ex, Britney Spears, released her memoir.

As of right now, Justin Timberlake is expected to appear in court virtually on July 26. It currently remains to be seen how this will impact his ongoing tour in the long run. As for whether other details on Timberlake's night out with friends will be released, that remains to be seen.

This past week, news broke that Justin Timberlake had been arrested on a DWI charge while he was in New York’s Sag Harbor. He was ultimately detained by local authorities and then charged with a single count of driving while intoxicated. Since the incident occurred, additional information has come to light by way of authorities as well as sources. Now, more details have surfaced regarding what reportedly happened that night. And, if the insider is to be believed, Timberlake was “advised not to drive” before he was ultimately taken into custody. 

Justin Timberlake was arrested early Tuesday, June 18 shortly after midnight as has been noted by Sag Harbor police. It’s also been said that prior to the incident, the star had dinner with friends, with Timberlake himself saying that he had a single martini. Up until this point, it seemed as though the 43-year-old Grammy winner, who was driving a 2025 BMW SUV at the time, had only been stopped once before being placed under arrest. However, a law enforcement source tells the New York Post that he was actually stopped twice. The first instance also allegedly involved Michael Arkinson – the same officer who ultimately took Timberlake in. Apparently, the 23-year-old cop had some advice for the singer as he made his way in his vehicle: 

According to the insider, Officer Arkinson was under the impression that the “SexyBack” singer would heed his warning and “thought that was the end of it, that this guy would get a ride home.” That reportedly turned out not to be the case, as the young cop noticed the BMW again only “several minutes later” while patrolling the area. And, with that, the Trolls star was stopped again and later put in handcuffs. The source sharing this information provided some additional thoughts on the matter: 

Following his arrest, Justin Timberlake was reportedly held in jail overnight and was arraigned early in the morning. As noted in the report, he was later “released on his own recognizance.” Timberlake’s lawyer, Ed Burke, eventually provided some additional information as well via a statement. Insiders have made claims about Justin Timberlake’s drinking habits, saying that they’re “not a secret” and that “everyone knows.” They even go as far as to say that he has a “major alcohol problem” that he’s been “hiding and masking” for some time now. 

Reports have also included supposed details about how the former NSYNC member’s wife, Jessica Biel, feels about the arrest. Biel – who dealt with the backlash her husband faced following the release of Britney Spears’ bombshell memoir in 2023 – is reportedly “disappointed” with the DWI charge. However, both she and Timberlake are reportedly glad that “no one was hurt.”

The “Can't Stop the Feeling!” performer has more recently been performing as part of The Forget Tomorrow World Tour. He most recently headlined a show in Chicago on June 21, during which he addressed his fans, thanking them for their support and acknowledging his mistakes, as noted by E!. As of this writing, the veteran singer is set to appear in court virtually on July 26. It’s currently unclear as to how that date might impact his touring schedule. Another anonymous insider also spoke to the same publication, and claimed that Justin Timberlake had actually largely cut drinking out of his life prior to his arrest. He was reportedly losing weight and had stopped drinking prior to starting his tour, this eventually changed. 

The first source who spoke to Page Six claimed that enablers around him helped Justin Timberlake start drinking again shortly before his arrest. They were quoted saying:

It's unclear how his aforementioned tour will be affected by his new legal issues. JT reportedly mentioned the tour as he was being arrested, so the stakes definitely feel high. Timberlake had been posting workout videos prior to his DWI, so he was clearly putting in the work. Only time will tell if things will continue as planned, and if ticket sales are affected one way or the other by this controversy. For his part, the *NSYNC alum hasn't issued any official statement about what went down in The Hamptons.

The 43-year-old “Mirrors” singer was reportedly in Long Island's Sag Harbor in New York on Monday night when authorities took him into custody. As of Tuesday morning, he's been arraigned and released without bail. Variety reports that the artist has been handed one charge of driving while intoxicated. His latest album, which has received mixed reviews, served as the jumping off point for this latest musical excursion, which is called The Forget Tomorrow World Tour. Variety notes that the singer/songwriter had most recently been scheduled to perform two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York next week. And he also had another pair of concerts lined up for the United Center in Chicago, before the tour moves to Europe.

Recently, Justin Timberlake has been promoting the tour on social media, sharing tidbits here and there. Some of those posts, which give insight into the behind-the-scenes aspect of the tour have gone viral over the past few months as well. (Aside from that buzz, Timberlake’s l-sit ring chin-ups boosted him to viral status not too long ago.)

I may be exhausted watching him, but I’m also impressed at the same time.

The SNL A-list host may not be out of shape and isn’t a stranger to workouts, but it’s still pretty rare to see Justin Timberlake go viral for a workout video. Over 68,000 likes, comments are pouring in from awestruck Instagram users noticing the hidden strength the “Prince of Pop” is showing off. Is it really May if it doesn’t start with Justin Timberlake being trolled over “It’s Gonna Be May?” The answer, in this day and age, is no. Every April 30 and May 1 the memes roll in, and we all get a kick out of *NSYNC and the way “Me” is pronounced in their hit song “It’s Gonna Be Me.” Now, Joey Fatone has spoken up about his favorite meme surrounding the boyband’s hit song, and it features Timberlake and Game of Thrones.

While *NSYNC went viral earlier this year for their reunion at the VMAs, every single year they go viral for their song and the fact that "me" sounds like "May" in it. Speaking about the annual internet tradition, Fatone told People about his favorite memes of the track, and the one he sent to Justin Timberlake. The singer said:

If you Google “Game of Thrones ‘It’s Gonna Be May’” what comes up is a horrendously Photoshopped image of Sean Bean’s Ned Stark with Justin Timberlake’s face on it. Then in classic meme font, the post says:

You know, it’s like “Winter is coming,” it’s hilarious! However, unlike Winter, May always comes and we aren’t waiting seasons for it. Like Winter though, the inevitability of the “It’s Gonna Be May” memes coming is real, and the fact that this is true is hysterical. 

I like to picture one of the Night’s Watchmen in the Game of Thrones cast, like Jon Snow, on The Wall waiting for May to come. Or, it’s really funny to think about them saying “May is coming” in that thick Northern accent. All around, the more you think about this meme, the better it gets.

Now, the history of this meme also makes the GOT spoof better. The story behind “It’s Gonna Be Me” begins in the recording studio where Timberlake was asked to pronounce “may” instead of “me” because the Swedish producer Max Martin told him to. While on Hot Ones, the singer said:

Oh yeah, it was memorable all right! Now, it’s been 24 years since the song’s release, and the memes are still going strong. They’re so strong in fact that they crossover with other pop culture juggernauts like Game of Thrones.

Overall, the last day of April and the first day of May are always a good time, because it's a silly reminder of the banger that is “It’s Gonna Be Me.” 

While the GOT meme insinuates that the memes are a bad thing, they’re not, they’re always funny. Personally, I can’t wait for 2025 to see them arise again. But for now, I’ll be listening to Justin Timberlake sing “me” in a way that sounds like “May” on repeat, and streaming Game of Thrones with a Max subscription. 

While we thought 2002 would be the last time we saw *NSYNC perform, children of the ‘90s were in for a surprise when Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, JC Chasez, and Chris Kirkpatrick reunited for their Trolls Band Together single “Better Place.” While it seemed like the reunion might not go further than that single, the boyband shocked everyone again at a Justin Timberlake concert. Now, fans of the group aren't holding back their excitement about this massive moment.

*NSYNC fans' dreams came true on March 13th when Justin Timberlake was in the middle of singing the boyband's “Gone” at his One Night Only show at Los Angeles' The Wiltern. Suddenly, the curtains dramatically opened to reveal Fatone, Bass, Chasez and Kirkpatrick. Everyone understandably freaked out as you can see in the X video down below:

I can imagine everyone in the crowd losing their voices from all that cheering seeing *NSYNC back on stage again.

Even just seeing them stand side-by-side when they re-reunited for the Trolls Band Together premiere does something wonderful to you, taking you to “a better place.”

Wow, the audience really did pronounce it as “It’s gonna be May.” That still gets me to this day as you just sing along to a song without caring if it’s “me” or “May.” According to E! News, the unconventional pronunciation wasn’t Justin Timberlake’s idea. It was written that way because the track’s songwriters spoke in Swedish dialects. Pronouncing “me” as “May” was still a catch-all with the song inspiring a viral TikTok dance challenge. 

Along with fans screaming "it's gonna be May," this next social media user expressed how “grateful” she was to see her “first loves,” and I have to agree:

If you couldn’t recognize what song *NSYNC was singing in that video, there’s a reason for that. That was their new single “Paradise” which drops on March 15th! As member Lance Bass opened up about a possible future for the reunited boyband, he wasn’t kidding around about getting back to work, as “Paradise” will be part of Justin Timberlake’s upcoming album Everything I Thought I Was. 

Fans were lucky to be able to hear this before the single dropped. It sounds like it follows a similar tune to previous love ballads they’ve done like “This I Promise You.” Get ready to hear this song play at upcoming weddings.

Timberlake laughed it off in the video, but got extra mushy in the caption where he said he loves “all” her angles, after falling in love with her when she laughed at his unique brand of sarcasm.

The iconic talent shared that every time he looks at her he’s falling “bigger and better” with his wife than he “ever could have imagined.” These two are clearly still going very strong!! Timberlake and Biel have two boys, eight-year-old Silas and two-year-old Phineas. They look like they are having a blast as a family following a lot of “upsetting” backlash regarding Britney Spears’ recent memoir that has also reached Jessica Biel in the comment section of their social media posts. 

Since Spears put the focus on Timberlake after sharing an alleged abortion and text message breakup from when they dated back in the day, Timberlake has tried to stay business as usual, including a previous sweet post about Biel. Though, Justin Timberlake also went viral for saying he was sorry to “nobody” at a recent show before playing “Cry Me A River,” which is a song famously about Spears, to which his ex allegedly responded by saying she wasn’t sorry back. 

Although Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have been through the ringer lately when it comes to how they are viewed by the public, it’s sweet to see the longtime couple really happy together and enjoying their Valentine’s Day. These two seem like the real deal! 

Super Bowl LVIII marks 20 years since one of sports-entertainment’s most infamous moments, Nipplegate, and while Justin Timberlake finally offered apologies back in 2021, many people no doubt feel like it wasn’t really enough to reverse the damage done to Janet Jackson’s life and career. With Usher set to take the big stage performing for this year’s Halftime Show, I think it’s a perfect opportunity for the Grammy-winning fave to let Jackson reclaim her glory.

When Usher appeared on Good Morning America to discuss his Super Bowl LVIII performance plans, he revealed the show will pay tribute to R&B as a whole, and teased that he’s keeping in mind all of the artists who helped him reach the most-watched stage in all of pop culture, through both professional and emotional support. 

So if we expand that idea to consider Usher performing medleys of R&B classics, as well as his own platinum-selling albums, then there’s the possibility that his set could include an entire section dedicated to just the Jackson family. From the Jackson 5’s reign in the ‘60s and ‘70s to Michael and Janet’s respectively successful solo careers in the ‘80s and ‘90s, their impact on pop, R&B, soul, funk and more can’t be denied. 

Thus, the moment would be a perfect point to bring Janet Jackson herself out to join Usher in paying tribute to her family’s massive legacy. And in a way that puts all the focus on her music and her artistry, and not on her boobs or any other body parts, whether they’re covered up or not. 

Of course, there are also ways to approach the controversy in a tongue-in-cheek way, should they so choose. Such as Janet wearing a top with hand-prints over the chest (similar to her iconic Rolling Stone cover) or something in that vein. But I think it would be far more powerful if all things Justin Timberlake were completely ignored. No need to give him any good or bad press because of it if he’s not involved.

It's Perfect Timing With Justin Timberlake Gearing For New Album And Tour

If Usher invited Janet Jackson into his Super Bowl LVIII performance, it could have a weirdly catastrophic effect on Justin Timberlake’s career in 2024 and beyond. In a feat of interesting timing, the N’Sync vet is currently in the process of promoting his upcoming album Everything I Thought I Was, his first since 2018’s Man of the Woods. Which itself is coming after a lot of the singer’s past drama with Britney Spears came to light, including her having an abortion when they were still together.

To be fair, Janet Jackson says they’re friends, that she and Timberlake have moved on with their lives, and that the entire shebang was “blown way out of proportion” at the time. But I still hope there’s a way to give her full-blown redemption for the world to see.

Usher And Janet Jackson Are Already Set To Play The Same Festival This Year

Interestingly enough, Usher and Janet Jackson will 100% be crossing paths just a little later in 2024, as both are co-headlining the 2024 Lovers & Friends Festival in Las Vegas on May 4. The former is set to perform his 2004 album Confessions for as an anniversary nod, with a slew of other artists performing, including Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne, TLC and more. 

Who else is headlining that festival? None other than the Backstreet Boys, the biggest boy band rival for Justin Timberlake’s N’Sync. Coincidence? Not exactly, since these are all hugely popular musicians in the pop/R&B space, but still fun to think about.

Now it seems the *NSYNC star may be bringing in the big guns to help his public image, as he’s allegedly considering sitting down with Oprah Winfrey to discuss the allegations Spears made about him in her memoir The Woman in Me. 

What Went Down Between Justin Timberlake And Britney Spears 

Britney Spears wrote at length about her ex-boyfriend in her best-selling memoir, including the story of their first kiss, their infamous breakup over text message and the bombshell reveal that she had an abortion after she got pregnant with his baby. The “Lucky” singer also had plenty to say about Justin Timberlake’s hit “Cry Me a River,” which he released after their breakup, slamming Spears with cheating allegations. Amidst continued trolling over The Woman in Me accusations, Timberlake seemed to reference his ex during a recent concert, where before singing the infamous breakup song, he said: 

Britney Spears responded with a blunt message of her own after hearing that the “Sexyback” singer was “talking shit about me on the streets." She appeared to challenge Justin Timberlake to a game of basketball, referencing past remarks she had made about him crying after she apparently beat him in a pickup game years ago. 

Is Justin Timberlake Considering A Sit-Down With Oprah? 

The latest development in the Mickey Mouse Club alums’ spat has allegedly caused Justin Timberlake to consider telling his side of the story, according to an insider for The Sun (via Daily Mail). They reported: 

It sounds like the boy-bander may have considered speaking out closer to the time of Britney Spears’ book release, but that idea was apparently tabled until the most recent exchange between the two.

While we wait to see if this is, in fact, a move that Justin Timberlake will make, you can get caught up by reading The Woman in Me by Britney Spears (also available on audiobook, which fans are loving because of Michelle Williams’ narration). For his part, J.T.’s new album Everything I Thought It Was is set for release March 15, with his world tour kicking off April 29. 

When Britney Spears’ memoir The Woman In Me hit bookshelves this past October, it allowed the iconic pop star to share elements of her life in her own words, including detailing a rather tumultuous time dating Justin Timberlake, ranging from an alleged abortion, text message breakup from the NSYNC singer, and both of them cheating on each other. When Timberlake played a show on January 31, many believe he referenced the discourse around the book. He went viral for saying he’s sorry to “nobody” before singing “Cry Me A River." Shortly after, Spears had some blunt words on social media.

“Cry Me A River” is a 2002 hit of Justin Timberlake’s that was allegedly written about Britney Spears to publicly embarrass her. Just before going into the song at a concert he played in New York City, Timberlake was filmed telling the audience he “would like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely fucking nobody.” Just a day later, Spears wrote this on her Instagram (via People): 

The words were the caption to a post Britney Spears wrote on February 1 alongside an artsy image of an orange moon being strategically placed in the middle of a basketball hoop. Now, neither Justin Timberlake nor Britney Spears named the other in these comments, but the singer bringing up not being sorry right before “Cry Me A River” does seem to point to the past drama. In Spears’ book, she addressed receiving backlash after Timberlake put out the song and alleged breakup revenge music video for it, claiming that Timberlake hurtfully portrayed her as a “harlot”. 

Per Spears’ memoir, which quickly became a bestseller, she said that Justin Timberlake sent her a text message while she was filming a music video that read “It’s over!!!” that effectively ended their relationship. While Britney Spears also admitted to cheating on Timberlake, the singer reportedly was unfaithful to her as well.  

Along with expanding on the story behind “Cry Me A River,” Britney Spears also claimed in The Woman In Me that she became pregnant with their child when she was 19 and Timberlake “wasn’t happy about the pregnancy.” If it was up to her, she said she would have never gone through an abortion but Timberlake allegedly “didn’t want to be a father.” Ever since the release of the memoir, Timberlake has received online backlash, which Lance Bass even weighed in on.

The Woman in Me features a number of reveals, including Spears’ abortion with Timberlake in the early aughts. After the book’s release, many of the “Toxic” singer’s fans have been defending her and trolling her former beau. They even did the latter recently upon the release of his new single. Now, Spears herself as well as Timberlake’s former NSYNC bandmate, Lance Bass have spoken out on the matter. And it would seem that all parties have managed to resolve any differences they might have had.

Just days ago, Justin Timberlake marked the debut of his latest single, “Selfish,” and it arrives ahead of his sixth studio album, Everything I Thought It Was, which will drop in March. So far, the song has managed to generate buzz amongst his own fanbase, but those loyal to his former girlfriend found a way to mess with the track’s release. They did so by initiating a spark for Britney Spears’ own 2011 song “Selfish” that’s sending it up the charts again. As a result, it seems to be making some serious waves.

Variety reports that the “Circus” singer’s song – which was released as a bonus track on her Femme Fatale album – reached the No. 1 position on the iTunes Top Songs chart. With that, it’s currently outperforming the new single from the “Cry Me A River” performer. That turn of events would appear to speak to the unmitigated energy of the “Britney Army.” 

It goes without saying that the fans weren’t too pleased with some of the anecdotes that came out of the pop star’s memoir and some of the stories that have just been recirculating in general. That includes the story of how Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake broke up while the former was filming a music video. Though there may be continued animosity from Spears’ admirers, she herself seems to be at peace now.

The Grammy-winning songstress took to Instagram just recently to share a message about not only her best-selling book (which was “cathartic” for her) but also her ex. The star said (via Newsweek) that she wanted to apologize for any offense that was taken from anyone over her book. She also shared some complimentary sentiments about her former partner’s latest music and recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon:

That definitely sounds like her way of extending an olive branch. Those who are still skeptical about the idea of the ex-lovers having found common ground should know that the notion has also been backed up by Lance Bass.

The former NSYNC crooner was recently asked for his thoughts on the current state of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears’ relationship. While speaking with The US Sun, Timberlake’s longtime friend and collaborator said that they’re doing “fine” at this point. He also shared a specific piece of information in regard to the timeline of this situation: 

This isn’t the first time Lance Bass has addressed the backlash that his former bandmate has received. At the time, he emphasised that the “Oops!... I Did It Again” singer had already forgiven her ex-boyfriend and that others should also show grace. Though other members of the band haven’t spoken out much, it was alleged that NSYNC was being supportive of the “Mirrors” performer. 

So it would seem that there is no drama between Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake at this time. As for whether fans will ultimately choose to back off of Timberlake now that Spears has spoken positively about him, that remains to be seen.

Jimmy Fallon accomplished way more than most cast members during his fantastic six season run on Saturday Night Live. He hosted Weekend Update. He developed several long-running characters fans looked forward to seeing. By the end, he was easily one of the show’s most recognizable faces, and yet, if you were to ask many fans about his tenure, chances are most would probably bring up his propensity to laugh in sketches. As brilliant and magnetic as the comedian was and still remains, he developed a reputation because of several high profile giggly moments. Well, let the record show he appeared in a sketch on SNL last night that easily could have gone south and was an absolute pro.

The sketch in question was The Barry Gibb Talk Show, which is, perhaps, Fallon’s most well-liked recurring bit. In it, he and Justin Timberlake, playing Barry and Robin Gibb, interview thought leader style guests and ask them political questions while singing in their trademark falsetto voices. The whole thing is utterly absurd, and you can tell, during several moments, Timberlake and host Dakota Johnson are actively trying not to laugh, which was picked up on by many YouTube commenters. Each let out at least one little laugh and are rocking a nervous, on the edge of losing it smile at other moments, but Fallon keeps it together throughout the whole hilarious runtime. The chemistry between Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake is just off the charts here, which is no surprise given their history. Everytime they do one of these sketches, it somehow both feels perfectly rehearsed and completely off the cuff. It’s a testament to their timing and how in sync they are with each other. Officially, this is the seventh time they’ve done the characters together on SNL, but they’ve showed up on The Tonight Show too.

And with good reason. These sketches are always a fantastic balance between utter silliness and sharp writing. They’re, of course, acting goofy, but they’re not just out there making noises and random references. Some of the things they’re saying are quite funny, as exemplified by the bit where he talks about intentionally watching Saltburn with his family, which is next level outrageous for obvious reasons. 

Justin Timberlake is no stranger to being in SNL sketches either (and no stranger to breaking character). He’s a member of the illustrious Five Timers Hosting Club and also made a ton of additional appearances. In fact, anytime he’s involved as a musical guest, I assume we’re going to get at least one sketch appearance and potentially something with his longtime buddy Jimmy Fallon. Fans always love seeing the two together, though when they do, there’s always a risk of at least one of them breaking character.

Saturday Night Live has an exciting upcoming hosting schedule. It will return next week with Ayo Edebiri, who should be fantastic. Also, Jennifer Lopez is the musical guest; so, chances are you’ll probably see her in at least one sketch too. Fingers crossed they’re both able to get through the show without laughing mid-sketch. 

What is it that makes a Saturday Night Live character worthy of becoming the star of their own recurring sketch? Is it the way they dress or style their hair, the general ridiculous nature of their given situation, or is it their manner of speaking? The deeply religious TV host has returned to Studio 8H several times and the secret to her enduring success is her hilariously sarcastic delivery of her signature line with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, That's The Ticket" - Tommy Flanagan

The phrase, “That’s the ticket,” is not exactly unique to Jon Lovitz’s Tommy Flanagan — the president of Pathological Liars Anonymous (or so he claims). However, it became imbedded in the SNL character’s legacy by the way it accompanies his most amusing fibs.

Legendary Not Ready For Primetime Player Dan Aykroyd and Steve Martin — arguably the greatest SNL host of all time — make up the swinging Czechoslovakian duo called the Festrunk Brothers. Of course, most people might know them better as the “Two Wild and Crazy Guys” from their vigorous mantra.

"New York's Hottest Club Is..." - Stefon

“Weekend Update” hosts just want Stefon (Bill Hader as the wild character he and John Mulaney created) to talk about the best family-friendly activities in New York. Instead, he would start his spiel by announcing the city’s new popular after hours joint, and it would only get funnier from there.

"We're Not Worthy!" - Wayne And Garth

Wayne Campbell (“Wayne’s World” creator Mike Myers) and Garth Algar (Dana Carvey) have come into contact with several celebrities (both on their cable access program and in their classic SNL spin-off movies). But, rarely have they been able to keep their cool around them, resorting to dropping to their knees, bowing, and declaring their undeserving presence.

"... I Live In A Van Down By The River!" - Matt Foley

The definitive performance by, arguably, the definitive ‘90s-era SNL cast member, Chris Farley, is his gut-busting portrayal of Matt Foley. In addition to being one of the most iconic divorced TV characters, the ill-advised motivational speaker’s most recognizable trait is his unfavorable place of residence (“a van down by the river”), which he reminds people of any chance he gets.

"Oooh, It's A Lady!" - Leon "The Ladies Man" Phelps

The most iconic character played by Tim Meadows (one of SNL’s longest-running cast members) is Leon Phelps, who would receive calls from men and women alike during his live romantic advice program. However, he always made it clear that he especially enjoyed attention from the opposite gender, which is exactly why they called him “The Ladies Man.”

"Cheeburger, Cheeburger, Cheeburger" - Pete Dionisopoulos

When Don Novello created the beloved SNL sketch from Season 3, “The Olympia Restaurant,” he might not have realized that simply repeating the word “cheeseburger” would create such an impact. Yet, John Belushi’s distinct pronunciation of it as the cafe’s Greek manager, Pete Dionisopoulos, served up a decadent comedy feast. 

"I’m Good Enough, I’m Strong Enough And Doggone It, People Like Me" - Stuart Smalley

Easily one of the most wholesome SNL characters ever conceived is Stuart Smalley, played by longtime series veteran and former U.S. senator Al Franken. He would begin each episode of his talk show, Daily Affirmations, with this personal affirmation that, perhaps, we should all be starting our days with.

"I'm Verklempt" - Linda Richman (Coffee Talk)

For various reasons — be it her strained relationship with her daughter or Barbra Streisand’s latest Oscar “snub” — Linda Richman often found herself overcome with emotion as host of “Coffee Talk.” By referring to these episodes as her being “verklempt,” the catchphrase became one of Mike Myers’ funniest quotes and never failed to get the audience howling.

"... Makin' Copies!" - Richard Laymer

Office worker Richard Laymer (Rob Schneider) is better known as “the Richmeister,” in reference to his tendency give his colleagues similar-sounding nicknames. This was typically followed by Rich acknowledging they were “makin’ copies” with the machine that just happened to be near his desk, much to their chagrin.

"We Want To Pump You Up!" - Hans And Franz

Austrian fitness “experts” Hans (Dana Carvey) and Franz (Kevin Nealon) had a pretty apt slogan for their program, Pumping Up, stating that they “want to pump [clap] you up!” However, we would discover that they failed to earn the respect of their famous bodybuilder cousin, Arnold Schwarzenegger, when he appeared in one of the most jaw-dropping SNL cameos as himself.

"Party On..." - Wayne And Garth

It was always a party on Wayne’s World, as co-hosts Wayne and Garth often reminded  audiences with this endearing, celebratory greeting. Of course, this phrase is also associated with another famous duo from the same era: Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter’s titular dudes from the Bill and Ted movies.

"I’m Chevy Chase And You’re Not" - Chevy Chase (Weekend Update)

We can sum up Chevy Chase’s signature style of charming smugness and dry wit in just six words. It is with this same phrase that the future Community cast member began nearly every “Weekend Update” segment he hosted during his short, but memorable run on SNL in the 1970s.

"... But I Love Him" - Jodi Deitz (Bronx Beat)

The talk show Bronx Beat was, essentially, an excuse for New York housewives Betty Caruso (Amy Poehler) and Jodi Deitz (Maya Rudolph) to voice their boisterous, and sometimes condemning, opinions on various subjects — with Jodi’s husband being a frequent topic. However, her complaint over her spouse’s moronic tendencies was always accompanied with a tearful affirmation that he still made her happy.

"Give Me A Break" - Ed Grimley

It’s hard to believe that a legend like Martin Short was only on SNL for one season, especially with his impressive assortment of characters like Ed Grimley. The pop-culture obsessed, erratic man-child — borrowed from the actor’s SCTV days — had a few different catchphrases, but his delivery of and situational choices for using “Give me a break” made it a classic.

"It Just Goes To Show Ya, It's Always Somethin'. If It's Not One Thing, It's Another" - Roseanne Roseannadanna

One of the most iconic “Weekend Update” guest characters was Roseanne Roseannadanna, who ended each of her nauseating appearances declaring that, “It’s always somethin’.” The phrase would serve as the title for the late, great Gilda Radner’s memoir, in which she reveals she borrowed it from her own late father’s favorite expression. 

"Superstar!" - Mary Katherine Gallagher

While her intentions may have been hard to interpret at face value, Mary Katherine Gallagher’s commitment to becoming a “superstar” was made clear in the way she exclaimed the phrase with an irresistible gusto. As such, Superstar became the name of a 1999 movie that put Molly Shannon’s quirky Catholic school student in the cinematic spotlight.

"Would You Like To Touch My Monkey?” - Dieter (Sprockets)

West German talk show host Dieter (Mike Myers) is another one of those characters who had many iconic catchphrases at his disposal, with the most famous being “Would you like to touch my monkey?” While it initially sounds a bit suggestive, he is genuinely curious if the guests on his show, Sprockets, would be interested in petting his pet, Klaus.

"Oh No!" - Mr. Bill

Few SNL bits are more traumatic than the short films starring Mr. Bill. The meek, indefensible clay figure could never do anything to prevent the painful situations he found himself in, but to exclaim, “Oh no!” right before they occurred.

"Bring It On Down To ...-Ville!" - Dancing Mascot

Nearly every one of Five-Timers Club member Justin Timberlake’s SNL gigs see him dressed in a ridiculous outfit, performing spoofs of hit songs to promote a local business — such as Omeletteville or Wrappingville — and upstage the competition on the same sidewalk. The pop star and actor even referenced the recurring sketch and its signature quote during a “Weekend Update” appearance when he imagines a non-existent Thanksgiving episode in which we would have brought it on down “Turkeyville.”

"Talk Amongst Yourselves. I'll Give You A Topic..." - Linda Richman (Coffee Talk)

When in need of a moment to compose herself after becoming “verklempt,” Linda Richman always avoided leaving her Coffee Talk audience empty-handed by offering them a conversation piece to pass the time. Examples of her given discussion topics include “Rhode Island is neither a road, nor is it an island” and “Ralph Fiennes is spelled neither rafe nor fines” among many others.

"Buh-Bye" - Flight Attendants

One of the funniest David Spade quotes comes courtesy of a flight attendant who wastes no time letting passengers know he does not want to be there. The character and his iconic “Buh-bye” debuted in a Season 19 SNL sketch also starring Helen Hunt as his equally rude colleague.

"Oh. Well, That’s Different. Nevermind!" - Emily Litella

As the elderly Emily Litella, Gilda Radner appeared on “Weekend Update” numerous times to present an opposing viewpoint to an editorialized topic, only to be informed that her supposed hearing problems led her to dish on something entirely different from the intended subject. Some of the most classic examples include “violins on television” instead of “violence on television” or questioning why the Supreme Court made a decision on a “deaf penalty” when, in fact, it was a decision on the “death penalty."

"What're YOUUUU Doin' Herrre?" - Stuart (The Californians)

The key as to why a sketch as simple as “The Californians” has stood the test of time is Fred Armisen’s preposterously over-the-top West Coast accent when portraying Stuart, especially when asking why certain acquaintances are in his house. Apparently, as Bill Hader shared with Seth Meyers on Late Night, he and Kristen Wiig did not know Armisen would pronounced “What’re you doing here?” so cartoonishly, causing the sketch to not go quite as planned with their uncontrollable laughter.

"You Look Marvelous" - Fernando Lamas

The peak highlight of Billy Crystal’s brief SNL stint was his portrayal of Fernando Lamas as a talk show host who often gushed over how “mahvelous” his guests looked. The Argentinian actor’s son, Lorenzo Lamas, even said that his father actually loved the impression.

"It's Reno Time!" - Janet Reno

For as long as Janet Reno served the U.S. Attorney General, Will Ferrell played her for years as the misplaced host of a teen-centered musical program called “Janet Reno’s Dance Party.” On the final edition of the sketch, the real politician herself crashed through a brick wall to shout out her SNL doppelgängers catchphrase.

"... Is That Bad To Do Do Do...?" - Junice Merill

No character portrayed by Academy Award-nominated SNL star Kristen Wiig is really known for having any definitive catchphrases, but Junice Merill does have her own “catch-lyric.” When she and her sisters appear on The Lawrence Welk Show, she takes one moment of their performance to confess something grotesque and possibly illegal before asking if it is “bad” in song.

"Delta Delta Delta! Can I Help Ya, Help Ya, Help Ya?" - Delta Delta Delta Sorority Sisters

One of the youngest SNL cast members (being 23 at the time) is Melanie Hutsell, whose most famous character was a sorority pledge named Di. She and her fellow sisters (played by Siobhan Fallon and Beth Cahill) would answer the sorority house phone in this most hilariously upbeat way.

"I Got A Fever And The Only Prescription Is More Cowbell!" - Bruce Dickinson

One of the most iconic SNL sketches prominently featuring an A-list host is a faux clip of Blue Öyster Cult recording “Don’t Fear the Reaper” under the supervision of Christopher Walken as Bruce Dickinson. His likening of Gene Frenkle’s (Will Ferrell) cowbell as a cure for his metaphorical illness in this one-off sketch may not exactly count as a catchphrase, but is undeniably one of the most celebrated lines in the series’ history. In fact, Walken claims it “ruined” his life with how often people quote it at him.

"Don't Look At My Bum" - Simon

Mike Myers stars in a recurring sketch as a young British boy named Simon, who likes to show the audience his drawing from a bathtub. In many instances, as he would turn around to reach for another example of his artwork, the child felt compelled to remind his viewers not to stare at his “bum.”

"That's What Your Mother Said Last Night" - Sean Connery (Celebrity Jeopardy!)

For no discernible reason, Darrell Hammond’s Sean Connery was more interested in spending the entirety of his appearances in SNL’s best Celebrity Jeopardy! sketches taunting Will Ferrell’s Alex Trebek than winning the game. Most of his insults involved the host’s mother, whom he jokingly claimed to have a relationship with.

These SNL catchphrases prove that, sometimes, it is not what you say, but how you say it. These characters said it hilariously.

Justin Timberlake has been embroiled in his fair share of drama as of late, and the chatter is connected to his ex-girlfriend, Britney Spears. Jessica Biel and her hubby were recently in Las Vegas, where they took in the celebrations during the opening of the latest resort and casino on the strip, Fontainebleau Las Vegas. It was during this excursion that the singer performed “Cry Me A River.” He also posted a couple of photos of himself and his lady to Instagram. Both pictures show their backs turned towards the camera, as they walk down a hallway. Those are warm words from Justin Timberlake, who’s been married to the 7th Heaven alum since 2012. They’ve shared sweet sentiments about each other on social media on various occasions over the years, but this one is particularly notable, given the headlines that circulated as of late. This post is also notably one of a handful that Timberlake has posted in a little over a month. 

Despite the drama, this social media post (and others the couple posted) seem to suggest that they had a good time while in Sin City. One gets the feeling that they’re seeking to block out any negativity that comes their way. As for the noise itself, it would seem there’s still vitriol in that regard. 

What’s Going On With The Drama Involving Britney Spears?

Even before Britney Spears’ memoir hit bookshelves, it was reported that her former lover would be featured in it. Insiders claimed at the time that the prospect was “eating at” the “Mirrors” singer. In addition to the abortion, Spears shared other notable anecdotes including a supposed Janet Jackson connection she and her ex had even ahead of the infamous Super Bowl situation in 2004. Stories that are less-than-flattering for the “SexyBack” singer have also been shared recently, including his big breakup with Spears, which happened during a music video shoot and involved a text message.

Justin Timberlake was chastised again days ago for performing “Cry Me A River” for the hotel opening. Before he belted out the 2002 single, which was inspired by his breakup with Britney Spears, he said, “no disrespect.” Many took that as a reference to the memoir drama involving his former girlfriend. Spears herself apparently caught wind of the sentiment and, when she posted a video to Instagram on Friday, she seemed to address it with her since-deleted caption. People captured the text, which read as follows: 

As fans remain displeased over Justin Timberlake’s reported actions, he and Jessica Biel have been able to handle the backlash, according to sources. They’ve allegedly been “making sure to be there for each other and continuing to move forward.” The Vegas post seems to indicate that they’re doing just that and, despite the chatter, both appear happy.

Every once in a while, the folks at Studio 8H book an SNL host who's note an actor and ends up nailing it and many of these examples include people who make music for a living. Single Ladies Video Shoot (Beyoncé)

In this fictionalized behind-the-scenes look at the legendary “Single Ladies” video, Beyoncé is shocked and annoyed by the director (host Paul Rudd) and his decision to make her back-up dancers three grown men who turn out to be his stepsons. This Season 34 favorite is actually a twofer that ended up happening because, as MTV News recalls, the former N*SYNCer convinced Queen B to participate in the sketch by showing up at her Studio 8H dressing room in the very leotard he wears alongside Andy Samberg and Bobby Moynihan.

SNL Digital Short: Jack Sparrow (Michael Bolton)

The music video for the fourth track off The Lonely Island’s sophomore album, Turtleneck & Chain, starts off as an unusually earnest effort for the trio. That is until their guest singer, Grammy-winner Michael Bolton, starts throwing in references to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and later, other cinematic favorites like Forrest Gump and Scarface. For its masterful handling of a truly random idea and irresistibly catchy hook, “Jack Sparrow” is easily one of The Lonely Island’s best music videos and perhaps, some of Bolton’s all-time best work.

Africa Tourism (Adele)

For reasons that are never quite clear — perhaps Kate McKinnon’s accent or the sensuous ways she says “tribesman” — host Adele could not stop laughing while performing in a fake ad for African tourism. Nonetheless, the Oscar-winning,  impeccable James Bond theme song (“Skyfall”) singer’s gigglish reaction — complete with a priceless cross-eyed gaze — is just what makes this Season 46 sketch so memorable.

The Old West (Elton John)

When Elton John hosted SNL during Season 36, he appeared as himself for most of the night, except for in one sketch that proved he can be as much a maestro with comedy as he can be with the keys. The Grammy-winner pokes fun at himself, too, by playing a flamboyantly dressed cowboy, who rides into a small western saloon on a unicorn.

Please Don't Destroy: Three Sad Virgins (Taylor Swift)

In one of Please Don’t Destroy’s most popular SNL bits, the guys are, at first, excited to collaborate with Pete Davidson until their music video becomes a roast at the trio’s expense. “Three Sad Virgins” only gets more “humiliating” when they reach the slowed-down bridge, courtesy of Taylor Swift, whom PDD never imagined would agree to star in the video in the first place.

Mick is Pointing, Pointing, Pointing at Himself (Mick Jagger)

In the early 2000s, when The Rolling Stones returned as musical guest, lead singer Mick Jagger starred in a sketch as himself opposite Jimmy Fallon as the artist’s reflection. The future Tonight Show host’s impersonation of the legendary rock star sitting across from him is so hilariously convincing that even Jagger can’t help but crack a smile.

Pippa Visits the Queen (Katy Perry)

It's surprising that Katy Perry hasn't hosted SNL more often — let alone acted in more things outside the Smurfs movies — given how well she demonstrated her comedic skills on the show in 2011. The grandest highlight is when she dons a Cockney accent to play Pippa Middleton in a sketch poking fun at the Royal Family.

Pandora Radio (Bruno Mars)

Admittedly, the concept of this sketch — in which a Pandora radio employee (played by host Bruno Mars) must sing like artists such as Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson when the website crashes — doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. But who cares? Watching the Grammy-winning hitmaker kill it with his spot-on musical impersonations is stunning.

Hotel Ad (Billie Eilish)

Both Billie Eilish — someone we’d love to see return to SNL as both host and musical guest — and her brother and bandmate, Finneas, star in this funny fake ad for a hotel that is a little too open about the alarming activity that takes place there. The Grammy and Oscar winner is very funny in the sketch but cannot stifle her laughter, which is understandable when Kate McKinnon is your scene partner.

We could not have picked a sketch featuring pop sensation-turned-master thespian Justin Timberlake — already one of the all-time greatest SNL hosts — without making sure Jimmy Fallon was also involved with it. Thus, it was easy to pick “The Barry Gibb Talk Show,” in which Fallon, as The Bee Gees’ lead vocalist, hosts a political discussion program featuring his most silent brother, Robin (Timberlake). 

Stevie Wonder Impersonator (Stevie Wonder)

After demonstrating his own wonderful impersonation of Stevie Wonder, Eddie Murphy shared the stage with the musical genius himself in a classic sketch from 1983. The future Academy Award-nominated SNL star plays an expert in impersonations, who is asked to help improve the Stevie Wonder impression of a man played by Wonder himself.

Judge Barry (Chance The Rapper)

Having only appeared on SNL four times — twice as a host and twice as a musical guest, each for different episodes — Chance the Rapper has already proven himself to be worthy of the hosting hall of fame, especially with this courtroom sketch. Before Jason Momoa rips open his shirt and steals the show, the hip-hop artist is fantastic as a judge who bases his rulings only on first impressions.

Parole Board (Blake Shelton)

When appearing as host and musical guest during SNL’s 40th season, country music superstar Blake Shelton demonstrated surprisingly impressive acting chops. He was in a sketch that initially seems to recreate a classic scene from the great Stephen King movie The Shawshank Redemption. However, a parole board member played by the former Voice coach bluntly reveals that Kenan Thompson’s prisoner has committed an unforgivable offense that leaves him with very little chance of freedom.

Blizzard Man (Ludacris)

To give his new album an extra boost, Ludacris (as himself) brings in a fabled hip-hop artist known as the Blizzard Man (Andy Samberg), who, as it turns out, cannot rap and does not even bother to rhyme his aggressively lame lyrics. The veteran of the Fast and Furious movies later appears alongside T-Pain in another edition of this sketch that is only made funnier by the fact that Samberg is totally capable of dropping some sick rhymes.

Parents Call (Halsey)

In host and musical guest Halsey’s monologue for her Season 44 episode, she described herself as an SNL fanatic, and her performance throughout the show really proves it. The Sing 2 cast member’s admiration for the show is especially evident when she dons a comically exaggerated New Jersey accent as a woman having an awkward, revealing phone call with her son (played by Mikey Day) in this sketch.

SNL Digital Short: Shy Ronnie (Rihanna)

In SNL’s 35th season, musical guest Rihanna teamed up with The Lonely Island for the first time on a Digital Short starring Andy Samberg as the title character. The comic plays a man who is too nervous to rap… as long as the “Umbrella” singer is in the room. It garnered a sequel called, “Shy Ronnie 2: Ronnie & Clyde,” featuring Rihanna and Samberg dressed as Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway’s titular roles from 1967’s Bonne and Clyde.

Bond Casino Showdown (Tim McGraw)

We knew Tim McGraw could act from his roles in movies like The Blind Side and Country Strong, but never realized just how funny he could be when he hosted in Season 34. The hilarious peak of the 1883 cast member’s episode is a James Bond movies parody in which a vacationing redneck (McGraw) participates in a poker tournament with 007 (Bill Hader) and Le Chiffre (Fred Armisen).

SNL Digital Short: I'm On A Boat (T-Pain)

When Andy Samberg finds a winning ticket a boat ride for three in his cereal box, he invites fellow Lonely Islander Akiva Shaffer but skips over Jorma Taccone to select T-Pain. The rapper, famous for his use of auto-tune, is key to making the other ridiculous “I’m on a Boat” video a celebrated anthem for taking it easy while cruising through water.

The Train Poet (Johnny Cash)

One of the first musical artists to try their hand at acting as an SNL host was Johnny Cash, who actually only starred in three sketches from his Season 7 episode (two of which he never speaks in). Yet when the legendary “Man in Black” stars as a train passenger expressing his fond memories of his commute in a rhyming monologue, he really gives it all.

Rap Roundtable (Questlove) 

In one of Questlove’s most notable cameos, The Roots drummer participates in a panel of hip-hop artists also including Queen Latifah (Pinkie Johnson) and two up-and-comers (Pete Davidson and Timothée Chalamet), who clearly don’t know anything about the genre. What really helps ease this almost terrible SNL sketch to something amazing is when the Academy Award-winning director of Summer of Soul puts an end to the young “rapper’s” mindless ramblings by striking them with his hair pick.

Wayne's World: Aerosmith (Aerosmith)

Many would agree that Wayne Campbell from “Wayne’s World” — which inspired one of the funniest SNL movies — is still one of Mike Myers’ best characters. But deciding on the recurring sketch’s peak moment is a bit trickier. Ultimately, we have to go with the time Aerosmith — with help from their roadie and Garth’s (Dana Carvey) cousin, Barry (one of Tom Hanks’ best SNL characters) — appeared on the no-budget cable access program and performed their own rendition of the theme song.

Punk Band Reunion At The Wedding (Dave Grohl)

Dave Grohl appears in a sketch or two nearly every time he and the Foo Fighters perform, but, arguably, his best SNL bit comes from when he played with Them Crooked Vultures — a supergroup he formed with Josh Homme and John Paul Jones. The former Nirvana drummer became a part of another band that night consisting of Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and host Ashton Kutcher in a sketch that sees aging punk rockers bring the house down at a wedding reception.

Spider-Man Kiss (Chris Martin) 

In one of the most popular sketches on SNL’s YouTube Channel, a dramatized inside-look at the making of 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 reveals that then-real-life-couple Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone (both playing themselves) had some trouble shooting their climactic kissing scene. The solution: bringing in Chris Martin — frontman of the night’s musical guest, Coldplay — to don a blonde wig and take Stone’s place.

Hamm & Bublé (Michael Bublé)

This SNL sketch prominently featuring the A-list host, Jon Hamm, is framed as an ad for a new eatery co-owned by the Mad Men cast member and musical guest, Michael Bublé, called Hamm and Bublé (pronounced “bubbly” by Hamm). However, as the Canadian crooner reveals in song, he thinks the restaurant’s concept — serving ham with champagne — is ridiculous and is being forced into the business against his will.

SNL Digital Short: Boombox (Julian Casablancas)

One of The Lonely Island’s most unique collaborations saw Julian Casablancas — lead singer of Manhattan-based rock band The Strokes — provide vocals for the hip-hop trio’s 2010 song, “Boombox.” The video, which premiered on SNL in Season 35, sees Andy Samberg and Casablancas attempting to rescue strangers from mundane scenarios with the power of music, only for us to discover by the ending that is was a “cautionary tale” all along.

Spelling Bee (Tenacious D)

In a sketch that was partially mprovised and conceived by SNL star Will Forte, a young spelling bee contestant’s attempt to spell the word “business” results in an astonishing failure — consisting of an innumerable amount of random letters spouted for more than a minute. Suddenly, host Jack Black appears with his Tenacious D bandmate, Kyle Gass, to perform a song revealing that the bit was inspired by an embarrassing moment from the School of Rock star’s childhood (which is not true, by the way).

Little Drummer Boy (Whitney Houston)

In one of Molly Shannon’s most iconic appearances as Mary Katherine Gallagher, the overly ambitious Catholic school student struggles to out-sing her rival choir member, who happens to be played by the night’s uber-talented musical guest, Whitney Houston. Shannon recalled to Howard Stern (via YouTube) how she was actually able to convince the initially reluctant Houston to appear in the bit by telling her she just had to act “snotty.”

Garth Brooks Backstage With Tracy (Garth Brooks)

The second time Garth Brooks hosted SNL, the musical guest was his own rock star alter ego, Chris Gaines — a bizarre concept that earned mixed reactions in the late ‘90s. The country singer showed he had sense of humor about it all by participating in a sketch taking place backstage with Tracy Morgan, who criticizes Gaines in front of Brooks, unaware that they are the same person.

Waking Up With Kimye: Apple Genius (Lady Gaga)

When Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were still married, SNL had a recurring sketch that starred Jay Pharaoh and Nasim Pedrad as the celebrity couple hosting their own morning talk show. One edition featured host Lady Gaga as an Apple Store employee who makes a cleverly self-effacing comment about the true intentions of people who “try too hard with their outfits.”

Wayne's World (Madonna)

In one of many of Wayne Campbell’s (Mike Myers) iconic interactions with famous musicians, the cable access program host recalls the time he shared a romantic encounter with none other than Madonna. Garth (Dana Carvey) gets to experience the memory first-hand in the pre-taped bit, which also features a random cameo by the late Prince.

Orchestra (Lizzo)

Lizzo is famous for three unique talents: playing the flute, twerking, and performing both acts at the same time. That simultaneous mastery is demonstrated beautifully in a sketch from her Season 47 episode in which she plays an orchestra hopeful who is unable to play the flout without twerking.

Gangnam Style (Psy)

In SNL’s Season 38 premiere, host Seth MacFarlane starred in a sketch as a Lids clerk who tries to cheer up his co-worker (played by Kenan Thompson) by summoning Psy to perform “Gangnam Style” at the push of a button. Bobby Moynihan plays the viral K-pop sensation for most of the segment until the man himself appears in a surprise cameo at the very end.

Justin Timberlake was all smiles as he reunited with his fellow *NSYNC bandmates for the premiere of his movie Trolls Band Together. The boy band recently threw millennials into a frenzy when they released their first new music in 20 years — a song called “Better Place” for the soundtrack. Timberlake’s wife Jessica Biel also stood by her man, who has been laying low in the weeks following the release of his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears’ memoir, and everybody seemed to be in good spirits as they celebrated the upcoming release of the Trolls three-quel.

A special screening of Trolls Band Together was held at the famed TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood on November 15. Justin Timberlake is reprising his voice role as Branch, partner to Anna Kendrick’s Poppy, and this third installment will center around the blue troll’s past as a member of the boy band BroZone. While JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick don’t have roles in the movie, they did attend the red (or purple, rather) carpet event, looking dapper as they showed off their individual styles. 

The *NSYNC members coordinated mostly in classic black, save for JC Chasez’s gray suit and pops of color from Joey Fatone’s pants and Lance Bass’ sparkling silver shoes. After appearing together at the MTV VMAs to present the Best Pop award to Taylor Swift, the boy band has been inundated with questions about what it all meant. Did Justin Timberlake get the band back together just for “Better Place,” or was there the possibility for a new album? Might we see an *NSYNC reunion tour?

Unfortunately, the vocalists have been noncommittal about what *NSYNC’s future looks like, with the bandmates now all having families and individual career obligations to consider. Excitement over their reunion was also tempered following the release of Britney Spears’ memoir The Woman in Me, in which Justin Timberlake’s ex-girlfriend opened up about having an abortion when they were still together and revealed the story behind her and Timberlake’s big breakup.

The Trolls star has been laying low in the weeks that followed, as the book sparked criticisms of his actions and treatment of Britney Spears. Justin Timberlake even shut off his comments on Instagram, which only led angry fans to bombard his wife Jessica Biel instead. Sources say it’s been “upsetting” for the couple to have things from the past dredged up, but they looked as strong as ever together at the movie premiere as they gazed into each other’s eyes. 

Justin Timberlake has also gotten plenty of support from his bandmates, who reportedly showed him nothing but love amid the backlash. Per previous reports, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel – who’ve been keeping a low profile as of late – were said to be leaning on each other for support. The latest alleged details, which come courtesy of a source for ET, corroborated that claim. As they put it, the two have “been focusing on their relationship and family as always.” However, they apparently still aren’t having the easiest time dealing with the blowback. The source went on to say:

Many called him out after learning Britney Spears had an abortion after the two experienced a pregnancy years ago. It’s hard to say whether Justin Timberlake or Jessica Biel might release any kind of statement, in which they address the backlash they’ve been facing. However, if this latest report is any indication, they may just opt to keep to themselves and weather the storm. As for the criticisms from Britney Spears fans, time will tell how long those will continue to pour in.

Time was starting to slip, and the crew’s shooting schedule was being delayed as a result of what transpired. Applebaum knew that everything could go south if he didn’t stay in control and, with that, he opted to make an appeal to the “Oops!... I Did It Again” performer:

The timing of Britney Spears’ tell-all is pretty inconvenient, not just for Justin Timberlake, but for JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick too, as the past month has seen *NSYNC “come back to life” with the release of their first new music in two decades. But the boy band members reportedly have nothing but love for the Reptile actor, with a source saying they’ve known Timberlake for 25 years and would still be interested in performing with him again.

Justin Timberlake has been laying low since stories from his past with Britney Spears began to recirculate amid The Woman in Me’s release October 24, and insiders say he has “quietly” removed some club appearances that were scheduled for early next year. However, plans are still in place for the solo artist to release a new album and go on tour next summer.

*NSYNC’s release of “Better Place” for the Trolls Band Together soundtrack got fans’ hopes up that the boy band might be planning a reunion tour, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Some longtime fans feel the comeback is pretty disappointing if the Trolls 3 single is the only thing that comes from it, and one has to wonder if getting the band back together would be a better move for Timberlake at this point than a solo venture.

In addition to Britney Spears writing about her abortion and bad breakup with Justin Timberlake, The Woman in Me also talks about her first kiss with her Mickey Mouse Club co-star — which apparently happened with a Janet Jackson song playing in the background. She also alleges that Timberlake cheated on her during their three-year relationship and blames a run-in with her ex-boyfriend at the 2007 MTV VMAs for triggering a panic attack ahead of her notoriously panned “Gimme More” performance.

This isn’t the first time Justin Timberlake has faced backlash for his past with the “...Baby One More Time” singer. Following the release of the documentary Framing Britney Spears, which spotlighted the horrible way Spears was treated in the aftermath of their breakup, the boybander issued an apology to both his ex-girlfriend and Janet Jackson — who took the brunt of the fallout from the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show “wardrobe malfunction” — admitting that he had “benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”

I'm sure Justin Timberlake is grateful to have the other *NSYNC members sticking by him, and we’ll just have to wait and see if there’s still more in the cards for the boy band’s reunion.

Britney Spears Recalls Being ‘Comatose’ After Justin Timberlake Broke Up With Her By Text 

It turns out that infidelity was involved in Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears’ breakup, as the pop star admitted in The Woman in Me (per Page Six) that she “made out with” choreographer Wade Robson one night, but that she and the boy-bander agreed to move past it. Maybe that’s partially why she was so “devastated” when he allegedly sent her a breakup text in February 2002 while she was in the middle of shooting a music video. 

Britney Spears was filming the video for “Overprotected: The Darkchild Remix,” and director Chris Applebaum recalled to Page Six that she went missing for 20 to 40 minutes during shooting. When he tracked her down, she was crying and showed him a text she’d reportedly received from Justin Timberlake that read: 

Chris Applebaum told her he understood if she didn’t have it in her to finish the video, but he encouraged her to stay and show Justin Timberlake that he’d “just made the biggest fucking mistake of his life.” The director said she responded by saying:

Despite reports that Justin Timberlake had also cheated on Britney Spears — which the “... Baby One More Time” singer seemingly confirmed in The Woman in Me — the *NSYNC member was painted as the victim in the breakup, thanks to his public comments and the release of his single “Cry Me a River.” 

Justin Timberlake Said He Was ‘Scorned’ And ‘Pissed Off’ Following The Breakup 

In the months that followed their breakup, Justin Timberlake was promoting the release of his first solo album Justified, and of course he was often asked about Britney Spears. He told People (via EW) in June 2002 that it still hurt too bad to say the word “breakup,” after the magazine named him one of America’s Top 50 Bachelors, saying:

In The Woman in Me, Britney Spears wrote about Justin Timberlake’s breakup revenge video, describing it as, “a woman who looks like me, cheats on him and he wanders around sad in the rain,” saying that afterward she was then made out in the media to be a “harlot who’d broken the heart of America’s golden boy.” 

Britney Spears did not speak to the press much around that time, but has said she was made to do the now-infamous 2003 interview with Diane Sawyer, which has become widely criticized since the release of the 2021 documentary Framing Britney Spears. During the sit-down, the journalist made the 21-year-old cry with questions about Justin Timberlake like:

There have already been a number of wild revelations from Britney Spears’ memoir, even before its release date, including having an abortion after getting pregnant with Justin Timberlake and nearly being cast as the lead of The Notebook over Rachel McAdams. One of the memories that we’ll read about when The Woman in Me is released October 24 involves the pop star’s connection to Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson — years before the duo became infamous for the wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl halftime show.

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake met as members of The Mickey Mouse Club, which in the mid-’90s included many other stars who would go on to successful careers in Hollywood, including Christina Aguilera, JC Chasez, Keri Russell and Ryan Gosling. The “Gimme More” singer opens up in her memoir about how fun the show was and how hard they worked, recalling that she “quickly connected with a boy named Justin Timberlake.” Via an excerpt released by People, Spears said: 

It’s mind-blowing that Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake apparently shared their first kiss while a Janet Jackson song was playing in the background, given the connection that Timberlake now has to the “Rhythm Nation” singer. 

During the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show in 2004, Justin Timberlake joined Janet Jackson on stage to sing his hit “Rock Your Body,” at the end of which he ripped off part of her costume as he sang the lyrics, “Gonna have you naked by the end of this song.” One of Jackson’s breasts was exposed, with just a shield covering her nipple, for a brief second before cameras cut away. Janet Jackson was famously blacklisted following the performance, while Justin Timberlake escaped the incident largely unscathed.

Britney Spears, meanwhile, would go on to date the *NSYNC member starting in 1999 following their time on MMC. They broke up in 2002, with Spears catching a lot of flak after Justin Timberlake strongly insinuated that she had cheated on him. 

Following backlash from the 2021 documentary Framing Britney Spears over how Timberlake had handled the breakup (i.e. hiring a Britney look-alike for the "Cry Me a River" music video and publicly discussing details of their sex life), he issued an apology to both his ex-girlfriend and Janet Jackson, saying he had failed them while he “benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”

It’s crazy to think that there was a connection between the three of them so many years before, thanks to that fateful Truth-or-Dare kiss. It will be interesting to see what else Britney Spears has to reveal in The Woman in Me, especially given all of the allegations she’s made against her family over the years and the rumors that she would reveal that she had affairs with A-listers.

Britney Was Up For The Lead Role In The Notebook Opposite Ryan Gosling

Following her movie Crossroads in 2002, which she starred in with Zoe Saldaña and Taryn Manning, Britney Spears’ career path almost took a wildly different turn. The singer was allegedly close to reuniting with Mickey Mouse Club co-star Ryan Gosling in a little rom-com called The Notebook. Spears reveals in her memoir:

Britney Spears and Colin Farrell made headlines in 2003, when they attended the premiere of his movie The Recruit together. While the actor assured the press that they were “just mates,” and Spears confirmed that there was “nothing serious” going on between them, the memoir The Woman in Me gives more details about the passionate fling, which Spears describes as a “two-week brawl.” The singer writes (per Time):

Justin Timberlake admitted that he “benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”

Luckily for Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears seemed to have no interest in holding a grudge, and she allegedly found it amusing that people were still talking about it after so many years. In fact, when writing her memoir, Spears said she was following her ex-boyfriend’s lead in taking the “intellectual approach” that he “respectfully” had in his apology to her.

If the rumors are true that the boy-bander is concerned about what’s to come, it would seem Justin Timberlake has a completely different perspective on the issue than Britney’s father. Jamie Spears reportedly doesn't plan to read what his daughter writes about him in The Woman in Me, in part (allegedly) because she’s already made several allegations against him and the rest of her family in court testimony and on social media.

And with Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears’ breakup already being public knowledge, the *NSYNC member may have less to worry about than a couple of other A-listers, as Spears is apparently set to reveal previously unknown affairs with two Hollywood stars.
