Michael Bay’s epic war movie, Pearl Harbor, is filled to the brim with major action and true spectacle. But, amid the explosions and aerial-based action, there are also moments of romance. Those mainly come courtesy of the characters Danny Walker and Evelyn Johnson, who are played by Josh Hartnett and Kate Beckinsale, respectively. One of the most notable scenes in the entire film sees the two characters making love. Now, years later, Hartnett is opening up about why that sequence, which he calls one of his “most embarrassing moments” on a set, was so rough to film.

Josh Hartnett – who’s long been pegged as a true heartthrob – has been promoting his latest film, Trap. The fan-favorite star recently sat down with Elle to discuss different aspects of his career. The Ask Me Anything interview (which was shared on YouTube) kicked off with Hartnett addressing one of his most embarrassing moments. After naming the Pearl Harbor sex scene, the star explained that that portion of filming was made awkward due to the presence of some specific visitors:

Filming a love scene with someone on a set populated by crew members and fellow actors sounds awkward on its own. However, the notion of doing that while your scene partner’s real-life partner and child were present just sounds nerve-wracking. Of course, the Oppenheimer cast member is a professional, so he managed to get the job done. Still, I’m cringing just thinking about him pretending to make love to the Underworld icon in front of her kid and her lover.

To Josh Hartnett’s credit, the scene in question (which is on YT) does convey the level of sensuality that was likely desired by the filmmakers. Danny and Evelyn’s romantic encounter occurs after the combat pilot takes his lady flying so that they can watch the sunset on Pearl Harbor. After they return to the air hanger, they passionately embrace while surrounded by parachutes stored in the facility. One could argue that the sex scene still stands as one of the most memorable moments in the entire film.

Of course, as many will probably tell you, Pearl Harbor is far from perfect, and much of the criticism surrounding it has been aimed at the weakness of the screenplay, overuse of special effects and more. Kate Beckinsale’s problems with Michael Bay also came to light years later. The actress explained that the director was hard to work with, in great part, due to his alleged perception of her physical appearance. While promoting the 2001 film, Bay supposedly said that he cast Beckinsale in the role because she “wasn’t so attractive that she would alienate the female audience.”

Most would likely agree that Kate Beckinsale is – and continues to be – one of Hollywood’s most beautiful stars, and she’s arguably a major reason why that love scene is still memorable. I’m just sorry that it was so embarrassing for Josh Hartnett. Nevertheless, it marks just one of many notable cinematic moments within the actor’s filmography, and it’s funny that he can somewhat poke fun at it years later.

The former pop star turned off the comments on her Instagram last year to avoid reading what people had to say about her new dog, the accusations she’s made against her family and a plethora of other topics, but she’s still using the platform to speak her mind. In a recent post she stood up for Kate Beckinsale, who has been facing her own criticism, with Spears saying she knows how it feels.

Kate Beckinsale has faced some health issues this year that caused her to lose some weight, and the actress has been clapping back at the haters who body shame her and tell her she’s not acting in an “age-appropriate” manner. That struck a chord with the “Toxic” singer, as she’s apparently seen the same backlash over her dancing videos. Britney Spears wrote on Instagram: 

Kate Beckinsale has been known to rock a bow as a statement accessory, and Britney Spears is here for it, especially as a response to critics accusing her of not acting in an age-appropriate way. The Underworld star, for instance, posted these photos from a recent event: 

Britney Spears seemed inspired by Kate Beckinsale to continue to fight back against her own haters in regard to her dancing and rumors that she’s in danger of going broke. In the same Instagram post, she continued: 

Earlier this year Kate Beckinsale had posted then deleted some photos alluding to some health issues, and she only recently revealed, per Variety, that she’d been hospitalized for six weeks after she “burned a hole” in her esophagus from the stress and grief of her stepfather dying and her mother having Stage 4 cancer. She also was distraught over the loss of her cat, though she had a cheeky way of mourning that loss. She understandably had difficulty eating, which caused her to lose weight.

Britney Spears’ message continued to appeal to fans to contribute something good to the world and to leave people like her and Kate Beckinsale alone, writing:

The loss of a pet is always painful, as our dear animal companions can enrich our lives in so many ways. While actor Kate Beckinsale will next be seen, or rather heard in the upcoming 2025 movie The Bad Guys 2, she’s shared a deeply personal moment of mourning for the loss of her cat. I’d like to thank her dearly departed feline would appreciate her gesture, as the Underworld cast icon did what any cat would do: mooned random people through her window. 

Admittedly, in the social media post that accompanied the unfortunate news that Kate Beckinsale’s cat Clive had died, she explained this act of shenanigans with the proper context. Take a look at the video, and Ms. Beckinsale’s message, below: 

If there was anyone you’d expect to be frank and open with the public, it’s Kate. Even in the past Beckinsale’s commentary on her own dating history has shown that she’s not afraid to discuss pretty much anything. So totally out there antics that distract her mind from a sorrowful moment are definitely not off the table. 

While the act itself was random, the motivation certainly wasn’t. As revealed above, the Van Helsing vet was joined by a friend of hers, who inspired her to get prank happy with the evening in question. And to be fair, judging by the height and distance of Kate Beckinsale’s mischief target, it wasn’t likely that anyone truly saw her butt in the window. Unless of course they were using a telescope, at which point several more questions would need to be asked and answered. 

Also, it’s quite thankful that Ms. Beckinsale didn’t put herself in any sort of danger with this high flying hilarity. Then again, considering that Kate was once sent to the hospital after an unfortunate legging incident, one can never really tell when her career in action movies will either come in handy or accidentally doom her. I’m willing to bet this is from the former category. 

If any one needed proof of badass action actresses, or any sort of celebrities being people too, mourning their pets is a prime example. Another good example of such humanity came back in 2020, when James Gunn took time to his late dog Dr. Wesley Von Spears by shutting down the set of The Suicide Squad. The companionship of a good animal can never be underestimated, and while she’s engaged in chicanery to help heal those wounds, one still sympathizes with Kate and her loss.

Who could forget the 1994 film that gave us Tom Cruise as the captivating and cruel (And blond!) bloodthirsty fiend, Lestat de Lioncourt, from author Anne Rice’s legendary novel series, The Vampire Chronicles? Of course, it also gave us Brad Pitt’s tortured vamp, Louis, and made a star out of young Kirsten Dunst.

Dakota Fanning (The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse)

While there are some obvious stars to add to this list, let us not forget that the cast of famous (and soon-to-be-famous) vampires in The Twilight Saga films was quite stacked. That roster included noted child star Dakota Fanning, who portrayed the villainous Volturi guard member, Jane, who was able to mentally create sensations of pain in those who she deemed worthy of punishment.

Evan Rachel Wood (True Blood)

Several vampire-focused TV shows have hit the airwaves over the past 20 or so years, so we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the HBO hit, True Blood. Many of its stars portrayed members of vamp-kind for most or all of the series’ seven seasons, but Evan Rachel Wood made an equally impressive (bloody) splash as the Vampire Queen of Louisiana, Sophie-Anne Leclerq, during her recurring guest appearances in Seasons 2-4.

Robert Pattinson (Twilight)

Back to Twilight! It’s not worth mentioning this franchise without bringing up lead romantic vamp Edward Cullen, as well as the man who brought him to life in five movies, eventuall live action Batman actor Robert Pattinson. Despite the fact that his love interest’s portrayer, Kristen Stewart, would have dumped Edward “immediately”!

Chloë Grace Moretz (Let Me In)

It’s possible that we don’t get creepier than kid vampires in movies and television shows, and that’s what we got with Chloë Grace Moretz’s Abby in the 2010 film, Let Me In. She befriends a young loner after moving into his apartment complex, but is (you guessed it) hiding nefarious purposes he could have never guessed, which end up taking his life in a most unexpected direction.

Salma Hayek (From Dusk Till Dawn)

This might be the shortest movie vampire appearance on the list, as 1996’s From Dusk Til Dawn saw Salma Hayek play the fanged exotic dancer, Santanico Pandemonium, only for about five memorable minutes that simply cannot be forgotten once witnessed.

Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows)

Undead life isn’t always filled with glamorous globe-hopping adventure, gorgeous mates who can’t resist you and other perks, at least according to 2014’s What We Do in the Shadows, which concerns the rather mundane day-to-day lives of vampire roommates, of whom Taika Waititi’s uptight and nearly 400-year-old vamp, Viago, is among.

Theo James (Underworld: Awakening, Underworld: Blood Wars)

Another big screen franchise that depended on heaps of stars to populate its supernatural world is that of Underworld. Two sequels saw Theo James play the heroic vampire, David, heir to one of the main vamp covens, and lead Selene’s one steadfast ally during an important time in her journey.

Willem Dafoe (Shadow Of The Vampire)

Not many cinematic vampires are said to be based on a real person, but the one played by Willem Dafoe in 2000’s Shadow of the Vampire is. He portrayed a fictionalized version of the real Nosferatu lead actor, Max Schreck, whom the crew begins to suspect is an actual vampire because of his behavior and the strange goings-on surrounding filming.

Gerard Butler (Dracula 2000)

Speaking of vampires who are based on real people…Author Bram Stoker based his Dracula on Vlad the Impaler, and Gerard Butler played yet another version of the ever-popular character in a film from, yes, 2000. This tale sees the ancient vamp accidentally awoken by a group of thieves who find and steal his highly protected coffin, which had been watched over by generations of the Van Helsing family.

Wesley Snipes (Blade)

A Marvel character that will soon have another portrayer when the upcoming Blade reboot finally begins filming, the original action/horror trilogy famously saw Wesley Snipes take on the vampire/human hybrid titular lead, who’s a nearly unstoppable vamp hunter bent on taking down all members of the species who bit his mother and infected him with their supernatural blood while he was still in utero.

Colin Farrell (Fright Night)

If a scary and suave undead night stalker is your type, look no further than Colin Farrell’s Jerry Dandrige in 2011’s remake of the 1985 cult classic, Fright Night. He may have to eventually do battle with a couple of teenagers, but he sure looks darn good doing it.

Ethan Hawke (Daybreakers)

A movie that takes a more science-fiction approach to a world overrun by vampires is the 2009 film Daybreakers, which sees Ethan Hawke play a vamp hematologist who refuses to drink human blood and is looking for a synthetic option to their usual meal of choice that will stop humanity from being wiped out by his more brutal peers.

Luke Evans (Dracula Untold)

Again with Dracula? Why, yes! This time, Luke Evans plays a Vlad the Impaler who only becomes a vampire to have the strength, speed and ferocity to turn back an invading army in an attempt to save the people of his kingdom. Does it work out for him? Well, yes…and no.

Kate Beckinsale (Underworld)

There’s no mentioning the Underworld franchise without giving respect to the main heroine, Kate Beckinsale’s Selene. In the first film she’s a vampire looking to destroy the werewolves that killed her family, but she ends up uncovering a major secret about the two sets of creatures and falling in love with a human, instead.

Alicia Silverstone (Vamps)

This 2012 horror comedy sees Alicia Silverstone play Goody, an old vampire who tries to stay young and hip while helping her much younger bloodsucking buddy, Stacy (Krysten Ritter), get used to her powers as they try to abstain from the red stuff during their immortal and unholy (sorta) lives.

Pedro Pascal (Bloodsucking Bastards)

Ever wondered what working in an office that was slowly being overrun by vampires who care as much about the bottom line as they do about drinking blood would be like? Just watch Bloodsucking Bastards, where beloved The Last of Us cast member Pedro Pascal begins turning his employees into the titular immortals.

Jim Carrey (Once Bitten)

Jim Carrey’s first leading role came in this 1985 comedy, where he played a teen virgin turned into a vampire by an alluring, 400-year-old creature of the night, who seduced him so she could use his blood to keep her youthful appearance.

Paul Reubens (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

In the 1992 horror comedy that eventually led to the long-running series of the same name, the late Paul Reubens starred as Amilyn, a vamp doing the bidding of a much more powerful bloodsucker who’s ruling his kind in Los Angeles.

Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood)

While HBO’s True Blood was positively filled with the undead, few of them made as much of an impact on audiences (and the lead, Sookie) as Alexander Skarsgård’s cunning and alluring (but sorta evil) 1,000-year-old Eric Northman. This also happens to be the role that really made Skarsgård famous.

David Boreanaz (Buffy, Angel)

When it comes to popular TV vampires, no one can discount the reign of David Boreanaz as evil vamp turned heroic vamp (and then sometimes evil vamp again) Angel, whom he played on Buffy the Vampire Slayer beginning with the first episode in 1997, through wrapping his run on the fifth season series finale of his own show, Angel, in 2004.

Sterling K. Brown (Supernatural)

Sterling K. Brown may best be known now for delivering heartfelt emotions as Randall Pearson on This Is Us, but for four episodes across Seasons 2 and 3 of the CW mega-hit, Supernatural, he played Hunter and dedicated vamp-hater-turned-vampire, Gordon Walker, to astounding, understandably cold-blooded effect.

Kiefer Sutherland (The Lost Boys)

Even though Kiefer Sutherland was certainly a star on the rise by the time he starred in The Lost Boys in 1987, his part as apparent vampire motorcycle gang leader David cemented his leading man qualities and turned him into a household name.

Rami Malek (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part II)

Sure, Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the best Rami Malek movies to watch, but let’s not discount his turn as the powerful (and ancient) Egyptian vampire, Benjamin, in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part II, one of the few creatures of the night in the franchise who can directly manipulate things, with his specialty being controlling fire, water, air and earth.

Bryce Dallas Howard (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse)

Yet another actor you may have forgotten was fanged in the expansive Twilight franchise is Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard. She took over the role of evil, vengeful vamp Victoria (who’s looking to kill Bella in retaliation for Edward killing her love, James) from Rachelle Lefevre, for the third movie, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Tilda Swinton (Only Lovers Left Alive)

As one half of the very old vampire couple at the center of the 2013 dramedy, Only Lovers Left Alive, Tilda Swinton is a wife forced to visit the husband (played by Tom Hiddleston) she’s long been separated from once she realizes his lengthy undead existence has begun to bring him down, as she tries to force him to reevaluate the value of living forever.

Bill Nighy (Underworld, Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans)

Every good vampire needs a parental figure to show them the ropes, and for Underworld’s Selene, that role was filled by Viktor, who was portrayed by Love, Actually star Bill Nighy. His Vampire Elder turned out to be more of a threat than the heroine ever expected, though, leading to some tense moments between Selene and her mentor.

Gary Oldman (Bram Stoker's Dracula) 

Back to Drac! One of the most popular films about the character is still 1992’s Bram Stoker's Dracula, which saw eventual Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban star Gary Oldman play Vlad Dracula.

Christopher Meloni (True Blood)

Where there is one vampire there are generally enough to have a whole hierarchy among their brethren, and as with the series True Blood, sometimes we get to see what that could look like. In Season 5, Law & Order: SVU and Organized Crime star Christopher Meloni portrayed the Guardian, Roman Zimojic, who led the Vampire Authority and (ostensibly) set the rules for all vamps. Many, however, didn’t agree with his desire to have his kind fit in with human society, which caused a lot of problems for the calm, determined and deadly when challenged leader.

Nicolas Cage (Renfield)

If you guessed that this is yet another Dracula story, well, you’re sort of correct. 2023’s horror comedy, Renfield, stars Nicholas Hoult as the count’s titular long-time familiar, who’s tired of helping him kill innocent people and all the abuse he’s taken from the being who gifted him with immortality, as well as super strength and speed (when he eats bugs) 90 years prior. So, he gets help from a support group for people in codependent relationships in order to be able to live his own life again. Nicolas Cage is our Dracula here, and he’s a perfectly winking one, who still manages to be creepy and deadly.

Johnny Depp (Dark Shadows)

Johnny Depp has become known for his outrageous characters, and his Barnabas Collins is no different. The 2012 Dark Shadows film (which was based on the 1966-1971 gothic daytime drama of the same name) follows Barnabas after he’s cursed with vampirism in 1760, buried alive in a coffin, and then accidentally freed in the early 1970s. He rejoins the Collins family at the estate they still hold, while trying to keep his true nature a secret, but hijinks ensue as his past comes back to haunt them.

Leonardo DiCaprio just celebrated a milestone, as the actor turned 49 years old on November 11. As you can imagine, The Wolf of Wall Street star had a big birthday, which was held in Beverly Hills and was attended by many A-listers. One celebrity who was in attendance to celebrate the Oscar winner was his Aviator co-star, Kate Beckinsale, who wore a giant blue diamond as a skirt. And it's giving me vibes from one of DiCaprio's best movies, Titanic.

Kate Beckinsale, 50, has certainly had her fair share of fashion moments, but this latest one really takes the (birthday) cake. The fan-favorite actress' ensemble was indeed adorned with a massive jewel that can quickly catch one's attention. But what I can’t take my eyes off is the giant square blue diamond gem on her skirt. Taking a good look at this, it reminds me of the Heart of the Ocean necklace Cal gives to Rose (Kate Winslet) in one of the best romantic movies to ever hit the silver screen. If you remember the ending of Titanic, you'll know that elderly Rose drops the rare diamond into the ocean to symbolize closure regarding her ill-fated travel experience.

ET seemed to be in agreement with the notion that the stone on Kate Beckinsale's dress was a tribute to Leonardo DiCaprio's 1997 drama, which was helmed by James Cameron. However, there's something else to consider, too. One of Beckinsale’s memorable roles is that of The Aviator's Ava Gardner who gets romantically involved with DiCaprio's Howard Hughes. Hughes tries to give Gardner a “cashmere-y sapphire” that’s “the best in the world.” But in a real girl power moment, Gardner rejects the present with her honest line, “I am not for sale.” 

If you consider the necklace Hughes gives Gardner, the square shape looks just like the giant gem the Much Ado About Nothing alum has on her skirt at the party. People reported that other guests who showed up at Leonardo DiCaprio’s birthday were his best pal Tobey Maguire, JAY-Z and Beyoncé, Taika Waititi, Snoop Dogg and Axl Rose. Lil Wayne was also there and even performed for the guests. During the star-studded event, all eyes were also on DiCaprio’s new love interest, 25-year-old Italian model Vittoria Ceretti. A source alleges the two spent the whole night being “affectionate and kissing.” The couple were first seen together in August in Santa Barbara, California, and then again in early September partying in Ibiza. The 49-year-old’s party apparently went on all night. with guests still being there at four in the morning.

While the giant blue gem on Kate Beckinsale’s giant skirt can serve as a double reference, I still leaning on my Titanic feels. This was a truly unique clothing choice, and one that I'd imagine a number of partygoers and fans won't soon forget. “Right after getting out of a relationship” probably isn’t the most ideal time for someone to offer up public advice for other couples, but stand-up comedian Matt Rife unwittingly put his foot in his mouth a few years ago when addressing the then-burgeoning romance between his ex Kate Beckinsale and Hollywood fling-master Pete Davidson. The latter two celebs split up in April 2019, but not before Rife had shared the advice, so to speak, for the SNL vet to “be careful” and “run.” Now, the young stand-up comic addressed those past comments in an apologetic manner.

In March of that year, Matt Rife addressed his ex’s headline-making new relationship largely with respect (though it’s presumed that she’s been the subject of parts of his stand-up act, even though he doesn’t refer to her by name). Here’s what he said at the time to TMZ when asked for his thoughts, and if he had any advice to give to Davidson.

To be fair, Rife didn't ever seem to be 100% joking or 100% serious when saying "Run," and his "Be careful" comment also didn't seem outwardly harsh in the moment, as he was just sort of speaking off the cuff. But the words still came across as being judgmental, and like he was sharing cautionary guidance.

It's been more than four years since Rife first spoke about Kate Becksinale and Pete Davidson's relationship, and slightly less time since the two Hollywood stars called it quits. In a recent interview with Elle, the Wild 'N Out vet was in the midst of a fan-geared Q&A when someone brought up his past quotes and asked why he gave that specific advice to Davidson. After taking a few seconds for consideration and thought-gathering, Rife started his answer with:

As thoughtful and well-handled as that response was, Rife was prodded for a different answer, since the above only directly addressed why he adviced Davidson to be careful. He bemusedly continued, saying:

And just in case anyone got it twisted about whether or not he was contrite for his past commentary, Matt Rife offered up an official apology, saying:

I can't imagine that either Pete Davidson or Kate Beckinsale have been quietly simmering with rage over those comments, but good on the always jovial Matt Rife for taking the high road and handling things cordially.

Kate Beckinsale has sported some seriously flashy looks over the years, and she continued that trend during this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The veteran actress looked nothing short of impeccable when she walked the carpet of the Pot au Feu premiere in a light-green, semi-sheer dress. At this point, Beckinsale has been to the event a number of times throughout her career, with her first appearance occurring back in 1993. It was actually a very eventful day, it seems, as she premiered a movie and was saved from a wardrobe malfunction by Keanu Reeves and Robert Sean Leonard.

The star was promoting Kenneth Branagh’s Much Ado About Nothing when she made her debut at the film festival three decades ago and was prompted to reminisce on it while marking her most recent Cannes excursion. Kate Beckinsale shared an Instagram post that included a photo of her, Keanu Reeves, Robert Sean Leonard and Denzel Washington. At the time, she was sporting a bodysuit, which looked good but led to a complication as she made her way to the event: 

This isn’t the only time that Kate Beckinsale has run into issues when it comes to clothing. She was hospitalized in 2021 after perilously putting on leggings. While the situation at Cannes doesn’t sound quite as dangerous, it’s definitely a scenario that’s panic-worthy. So it’s a good thing she had a little help from Robert Sean Leonard and Keanu Reeves, who’s affectionately known as “the Internet’s boyfriend.” The Underworld alum went on to explain just how the two actors gave her a keen assist: 

I mean, if you can’t trust your co-stars to hold up the back of your gusset, then who can you trust to do it? Kudos to the guys for stepping in to prevent what could’ve been an unfortunate red-carpet situation for their colleague. And ultimately, it would appear that a good time was had by all. When it comes to Keanu Reeves, his kind deeds have been well-documented on social media at this point. He went viral last year when he had a sweet encounter with a fan at an airport. He also had a similar kind of run-in with a Toy Story fan, who apparently loved the fact that the Canadian actor played Duke Caboom. But, fear not, because today we are going to go over everything you should know about Pete Davidson’s girlfriends, how long he dated them, and when he moved on romantically. Let’s get started. 

Carly Aquilino: 2015 - 2016

Starting off the list, we take a look at Carly Aquilino and Pete Davidson, who actually began dating way back in 2015, almost eight years ago. Aquilino is actually also a comedian, like Davidson, as well as an actress, and is mainly known for her role in the comedy series, Girl Code. 

According to Complex (via Us Weekly) the pair dated in 2015, before they called it quits at some point in 2016. After that, Davidson was spotted with his next love interest not that long after.

Cazzie David: May 2016 - Early 2018

After Aquilino, Davidson ended up dating Cazzie David, the daughter of famous comedian/Curb Your Enthusiasm mastermind, Larry David. According to the Us Weekly article above, he moved in with David in May 2016, and the Los Angeles Times noted that they broke up at some point in 2018.

However, it also says that she and Davidson have since rekindled their friendship, and things are much better than they used to be. 

Ariana Grande: May 2018 - October 2018

When Pete Davidson began dating Ariana Grande, it was a whirlwind romance that everyone seemed to know about, and was his first really public relationship. In an interview with Howard Stern, Davidson confirmed that the two of them had shared their first kiss on the night of the 2018 Met Gala, May 7. It was confirmed a week later, on May 18, that they were casually dating. 

We all know what happened next, as the pair suddenly got engaged on June 11, but in October of 2018, according to People, the pair called it quits, with a source saying that it was just “too much too soon.” Fans did get the bop that is “Thank U, Next,” from that breakup, so I suppose it wasn’t all in vain. 

Kate Beckinsale: March 2019 - April 2019

The next romance of Davidson’s that we need to talk about is when he dated Kate Beckinsale in early 2019. According to Us Weekly, the pair was first seen flirting together at a Golden Globe’s afterparty, before they were spotted at a Rangers game in March 2019 – where they were shown to be enjoying each other’s time. 

However, this was another case where the relationship didn’t last long between the two, as Us Weekly also confirmed that the pair split up in April 2019 after their short-lived romance. In an interview that Davidson did with Charlamagne Tha God (via the Us Weekly article above), Davidson said it just “wasn’t the right time” for him and Beckinsale: 

Margaret Qualley: August 2019 - October 2019

Another short-lived romance that the actor ended up having was with actress Margaret Qualley, according to E News. After Davidon’s split from Kate Beckinsale, rumors about a relationship between he and Qualley, who was in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, started to swirl in August 2019, but they ended up calling it quits in October 2019. 

Kaia Gerber: December 2019 - January 2020

Next up, we take a look at Kaia Gerber and Davidson, who were reported to be dating in late 2019, however, it did not last long. According to Page Six, the pair had called it quits by mid-January 2020, with a source saying the main reason was that the pressure of being with the Saturday Night Live talent was too much for Gerber: 

Phoebe Dynevor: April 2021 - August 2021

Moving on, we take a look at the relationship between Davidson and Bridgerton star, Phoebe Dynevor. According to People, the pair started dating in April 2021, with sources saying that he was serious about her, but it didn’t last long, as they ended up splitting in August 2021, according to The Sun. It came not that long after the couple made their first public appearance together at the Wimbledon competition that year.  

Kim Kardashian: November 2021 - August 2022

I think everyone, at some point, heard about the relationship between Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, and for good reason, as they made headlines across every single news organization. At the time, Kardashian was still finalizing her divorce from rapper, Kanye West, but the SKIMS founder and Davidson started seeing each other in November 2021, according to E News, not that long after Kardashian made her SNL hosting debut – and kissed Davidson in one of her sketches. 

The two were a major news story for a while, with posts of them going viral on Instagram, and pictures of the two at the Met Gala in 2022, and on vacation becoming favorites of fans, because they looked so happy. 

However, in August 2022, it was confirmed that after nine months of dating, the pair had split up, according to E News, deciding to just be friends, citing that their work schedules as a big reason why they couldn’t maintain the relationship. 

Emily Ratajkowski: November 2022

The last person that we need to talk about is the most current relationship that Davidson is in, and that’s with model Emily Ratajkowski. According to Us Weekly, the pair started dating in November 2022, with sources saying they had been talking for a couple of months prior. However, it seems like this couple called it quits not that long after - with Ratajkowski downloading a dating app already. Later on, she posted a picture of her at the beach enjoying her life.

Actor Jason Momoa is known for his hulking frame and flowing locks, but he’s also been the subject of a number of rumors regarding his personal life. He and Lisa Bonet were #CoupleGoals for years, partly thanks to their blended family of A-listers like Lenny Kravitz. But the pair have officially filed for divorce, making countless headlines in the process. Now Momoa has opened up about how an Aquaman 2 conversation led to rumors he was dating Kate Beckinsale.

Jason Momoa’s every move has been dissected by the public since he and Lisa Bonet announced they were splitting up. This was the case when he recently attended The Academy Awards, and the after party that followed. And after offering his jacket to Kate Beckinsale, the internet was set ablaze with dating rumors. Now Momoa addressed the chatter in an interview with Extra, saying:

Jason Momoa’s comments to Extra come at the premiere of Michael Bay’s Ambulance, where he took the time to address the online discourse about he and Kate Beckinsale. He outright denied dating Kate Beckinsale, and seemed to laugh off the wild rumors to the contrary. In Aquaman’s own words,

Well, there you have it. Sometimes being gallant simply doesn’t pay off for celebrities. Because while Jason Momoa might be simply helping Kate Beckinsale keep warm, both celebs have been the subject of rumor and conjecture related to their personal lives. Hopefully Momoa doesn’t change, even if he’s joking about never giving away his coat again.

As previously mentioned, Kate Beckinsale is no stranger to headlines surrounding her personal life. There was a ton of chatter when she was dating Pete Davidson, although the two reportedly broke it off in April of 2019. The SNL actor has only continued to turn heads, most recently dating Kim Kardashian. As for Jason Momoa, he has to continually remind people that he and Lisa Bonet have indeed split amicably, while also dealing with new rumors about his love life.

There are some actresses out there that are so good at what they do, they often stick to those roles for their career. A great example is Meryl Streep, a queen of dramas (and sometimes hilarious comedies). But other times, actresses who started off in one or two genres, like comedies or dramas or others, take on an action role. 

And it’s then that you realize just how amazingly badass they are. 

From some Marvel superheroes that have become icons for all to gunslingers in zombie worlds, these are ten actresses that have proved they are just as badass at kicking butt as they are acting in general. 

Angelina Jolie (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider)

At this point Angelina Jolie is known for taking roles in all kinds of genres these days, but it wasn’t until Lara Croft: Tomb Raider that she cemented herself as an action star. Prior to her taking this role, she had appeared in films like Lookin’ to Get Out (alongside her father), Hackers, and even won an Academy Award for Girl, Interrupted - none of which were action roles. 

But as soon as she portrayed the famous video game icon, Lara Croft, in the 2001 adaptation, she showed just how badass she could be. And after that, she went on to be in other badass roles too, including Mr. And Mrs. Smith, and most recently, was a part of the Eternals cast. Thank goodness she ended up taking the role.

Uma Thurman (Kill Bill)

Uma Thurman had a career long before both Kill Bill parts came out in the early 2000’s. Prior to that, she had appeared in the film, Dangerous Liaisons (a romantic drama) and Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction (a black comedy crime movie). Besides that, she also made appearances in other films like Les Misérables, Batman & Robin and more. 

But Kill Bill was the ultimate role for her. I mean, have you seen how badass this woman is here? I could re-watch that scene of her taking on the Crazy 88 every day and still not get sick of it. She’s skillful with a sword and will knock your ass out. Now, if Kill Bill 3 could happen, I could die happy.

Zoe Saldana (Avatar/Guardians Of The Galaxy)

Zoe Saldana, at this point in her career, is known for how badass she is, but at one point, she got her start in drama films like Center Stage, Crossroads, The Terminal and more. But then 2009 came along, and the mega-hit that was Avatar released to the world, alongside Saldana as Neytiri, a badass alien that had no qualms about taking her enemies down. 

Saldana further pushed how badass she was by taking on the role of Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, a space assassin and a role she would reprise several times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Seeing as how she is set to both appear in Avatar 2 and Guards of the Galaxy 3, the next couple of years for Saldana are looking quite badass.

Halle Berry (X-Men)

Before she became a superhero, Halle Berry starred in several different kinds of projects, including the romantic comedy, Boomerang, the comedy Bulworth, and even the television film, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, which she won an Emmy for. 

But in 2000, she took on the role of Storm, a mutant who can control the weather, in X-Men, and she would reprise it for several years afterwards. This in turn led to her appearance in many other badass roles - so much so that she directed her own badass film, Bruised, in 2021. 

Scarlett Johansson (Iron Man 2)

I remember the first time I saw Black Widow in Iron Man 2, I turned to my dad and said “girls can be just as superpowered as boys!” And while he wholeheartedly agreed, it wasn’t until now, as an adult, that I realized just how much Black Widow, and Scarlett Johansson in general, impacted me as a child. 

Scarlett Johansson had done so much prior to stepping into the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2, and furthermore, in the MCU. She’s been in dramas like Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Prestige, Match Point, and so many more, but when she donned that classic Black Widow suit and kicked the asses of bad guys all around her, I wonder if she knew how many girls would aspire to love her and want to be just like her - a pure badass. 

It’s because of Black Widow originally that I got into the MCU - and now, with the conclusion of her story in Black Widow, I can say she is one of the most iconic female superheroes ever.  

Kate Beckinsale (Underworld)

Kate Beckinsale was primarily known for dramas prior to her badass role, appearing in Much Ado About Nothing, Cold Comfort, Emma, Pearl Harbor, and more, but in 2003, she decided to step into the badass world with Underworld. 

She played Selene (based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name), who was a vampire-warrior and could freaking kick ass any day. While her movies weren't all super-well received by critics, there’s no denying that they’re a heck of a lot of fun, and opened many doors for Beckinsale to continue starring in action films after, like Total Recall and Van Helsing.

Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road)

Charlize Theron freaking scares me in Mad Max: Fury Road - and I mean that in the best way. 

I was so used to her in dramatic roles, such as The Italian Job, or North Country, and while Theron had experience with action films before this one, like in Hancock or Prometheus, this film was where she truly shined. There were so many great standouts in Mad Max: Fury Road, but Charlize as Imperator Furiosa was an amazing pick and I could watch her drive across a desert and beat men down anyway. While she isn’t going to be returning to the role for the Furiosa prequel, I can still look back and love her role here.

Emily Blunt (Edge Of Tomorrow)

I have to admit - when I first saw Emily Blunt in The Devil Wears Prada cast, I didn't pictured her as a badass. But Edge of Tomorrow changed that. 

Blunt made her way in Hollywood through both dramatic and comedic roles, with some of her biggest being The Young Victoria, The Devil Wears Prada, The Adjustment Bureau and more. But in 2014, she starred in Edge of Tomorrow alongside Tom Cruise, and damn does she know how to shoot a gun. She’s badass in all the right ways and I will gladly watch her again if there’s ever a sequel. 

Brie Larson (Captain Marvel)

Captain Marvel (in my opinion) is the next Black Widow for the next generation of superhero loving girls, a badass figure to look up to that is so powerful. And she is portrayed by the lovely Brie Larson. 

Prior to this role, though, Larson was not known for being an action star - in fact, she was quite the opposite. Some of her biggest roles were the comedy, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, 21 Jump Street and Room, a serious drama that she won an Academy Award for. 

But in 2019, she entered into the MCU with Captain Marvel, becoming one of the most powerful Avengers there is - while also kicking some Skrull butts along the way. I for one can’t wait to see her in The Marvels soon enough. 

Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games Series/X-Men)

Last but not least, we have Jennifer Lawrence. While Lawrence was still establishing herself as an actor before she appeared in these roles, action roles weren’t what got her famous originally. She appeared in films such as The Poker House, Winter’s Bone (which got her nominated for an Academy Award) and more, but 2011 and 2012 were game changers for her. 

In 2011, she took on the role of Mystique, a shapeshifting mutant in the X-Men series, a role she reprised several times. In 2012, she starred as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games series, which made her a household name. 

Seeing her both as a mutant as well as a heroic woman with just a bow and arrow cemented her spot in history as a badass, and I wish I could get to see her in more roles just like that - besides, don’t lie, you wanted to be Katniss’ bestie and storm the Capitol together, because I was that person too. 

With so many amazing actresses, it’s no wonder most of them ended up going in the direction of action roles and freaking rocking them. Now I need to rewatch all of Black Widow’s appearances again - for research purposes. Where’s my remote?

Of all the unbelievable things that happen in this world, people seem to be caught up on the fact that Pete Davidson seems to be able to pull some of the world’s most desirable and popular ladies. The SNL star previously dated Kate Beckinsale and was once engaged to Ariana Grande.  Now, Davidson has charmed Kim Kardashian as well. The comic has explained how he has managed to connect with so many leading ladies that seemingly don't have a lot in common with him. 

Apparently the world’s confusion on how he has snagged the attention of multiple women -- with rumors of even more beautiful celebrity romances --- is not lost on Pete Davidson. In a stand-up routine he performed at the 9th Annual Patrice O’Neal Comedy Benefit Concert at New York City Center (via Us Weekly), he says that his friends have expressed their opinions and he has thoughts about his appeal to beautiful women. Here’s what he said, exactly:

Pete Davidson is a master of self-deprecation and his comedy style typically plays on the fact that he’s, well, a dumpster fire of a person. He’s joked about the very real situation of living in his mom’s basement for the majority of his adult life, even well into stardom. He also makes his fair share of dead dad jokes, as his father tragically and heroically passed during 9/11, which might traditionally be a turn-off, but apparently is working for him in the love department.

Apparently, it is this proclivity to come off as trashy that Pete Davidson said hides how truly great he really is. In the same set, Davidson likened himself to Tropic Thunder, a hidden gem mistakenly regarded as a film meant for the discount DVD bin at 7-Eleven. Or as he put it: 

At this point, Tropic Thunder is regarded as a modern-day (can 2008 still be considered modern?) cult classic, even though it is a would-be controversial film, and Pete Davidson is starting to be regarded as such as well. His honesty and self-awareness mixed with his comedic take on pretty much everything, apparently makes him appealing to successful and independent women, such as Kim Kardashian. 

In typical natural treasure style, no one really has beef with Pete Davidson. Well, nobody but Kanye West. After Davidson started dating Kim Kardashian not long after her split with West, the rapper has been pretty vocal about his dislike of Davidson, and even put him on a diss track. Right on brand, though, Davidson doesn’t seem bothered at all. In fact, he allegedly finds the whole “beef” hilarious.

Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian seem to be going strong so far, though it’s only been a few months, and this isn't the first time Davidson has spoken out about his romantic appeal.  No matter how you put it, it appears that Davidson does indeed have a charm when it comes to the beautiful and successful women of Hollywood.

Guilty Party's Kate Beckinsale has proven herself to be a versatile actress over the years, but her bread and butter has been starring in multiple action films over two decades, including her time as Underworld heroine Selene. After doing so many action films, you would think the actress would be quite limber with all her training. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, as a pair of leggings once sent the Guilty Party star to the hospital.

Who knew putting on a pair of leggings would take out Selene? Kate Beckinsale revealed the embarrassing moment while speaking on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Beckinsale still couldn’t believe how the whole situation played out. The Jolt star revealed her training as an action star didn’t help her against her unexpected enemy.

Kate Beckinsale appeared to be in disbelief over a simple garment taking her out. As a viewer, you would think doing action films like the Underworld series and Van Helsing would make Beckinsale more flexible. While she can laugh about it now, it appeared to be a harrowing experience. The Underworld alum broke down how the entire scenario played out in her hotel room.

Things only got worse from there, as Kate Beckinsale explained how she got from her hotel room to the hospital. With the actress being immobile, the paramedics produced the brilliant idea to lay her on a sheet and pick her up “like a sausage” onto a gurney. But the episode took a more hilarious turn as Beckinsale found out she had a low tolerance for drugs. After being pumped full of multiple medications, the Hollywood star became aware she was a closed conspiracy theorist. So while injuring herself led to an outlandish ordeal, the Pearl Harbor star found out something interesting about herself.

According to Kate Beckinsale, leggings are the new danger no one saw coming. For anyone who has experienced putting on pants, leggings, etc., Beckinsale’s story recalled those times slipping into a pair was more chaotic and self-defeating than it needed to be. No pair of leggings is worth being sent to the hospital over.

At least Kate Beckinsale has recovered from the injury. Now that’s she’s fully recovered, Beckinsale has returned to her busy schedule with multiple projects in development. Telling the hilarious story wasn’t unusual for the actress as she is currently starring in the Paramount+ comedy Guilty Party, which airs every Thursday.

Let's just face the facts, OK? Most of us, no matter how hard we try to avoid it, have at least some fascination with celebrities and their assorted romances. And while we've all been obsessing over the latest developments in the rekindled romance of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, or trying to figure out which famous lady Pete Davidson is now squiring around New York, Underworld legend Kate Beckinsale just revealed that she's never really been on a real date before, and instead marries or gets pregnant by all the men she's interested in romantically. I know! Let's break this down, shall we?

Kate Beckinsale has had a few high profile relationships during her many years as a famous person, with one of the most recent of those being the brief time she spent in 2019 with none other than the aforementioned SNL star, Pete Davidson. But, while Beckinsale was speaking to Extra about her new action movie, Jolt, the conversation turned to dating, and when she was asked about the worst date she's ever been on, Beckinsale replied:

Whoa, whoa...WHOA. This cannot be possible, right? Or, can it? Alright, first of all, I'd like to direct your eyes back to Kate Beckinsale's quote, and note that she said "barely ever" when discussing her tendency to actually date like a regular person. So, she has been on dates, but, by her estimation of "dating" anyway, it just hasn't happened all that often. And, you know, dating is kinda terrible, so good for Kate Beckinsale where the avoidance of that potentially large landmine is concerned.

Of course, as we all know, Kate Beckinsale is a movie star. And, as movies stars tend to work and socialize with other movies stars (or those who work in adjacent fields) it's quite easy to see how what Beckinsale says might be true. From what I've heard, film sets are intriguing places. Working very closely with someone for a few months at a time, while you also have lots of downtime in which to reveal things you might have in common and so forth, is exactly the kind of thing that would lead to getting to know a person pretty well without actually having to say, "Hey, you wanna get dinner sometime?" and thereby end up in a romance with literally zero actual dates having occurred.

Beckinsale was in a relationship with actor Michael Sheen (of the recently cancelled Prodigal Son) for about seven years (they share a 22-year-old daughter), and they apparently met while doing a touring production of a play together. She was also married to director Len Wiseman for 11 years, after the two met while filming the first Underwold movie, which he directed. While Beckinsale has certainly had some romances where there was probably at least a bit of dating involved, it does appear that her longest relationships, at least, have involved her getting to know folks at work and that being the beginning.

It kinda sounds like Kate Beckinsale is, truly, just fine with her largely date free lifestyle, though, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Before Underworld, never had the fantastic world of victorian horror been so… Matrix. That is, by no means, an indictment on the 2003 thriller that brings the mythical conflict between werewolves and vampires to modern times. Other than its bleak color palette, stylized choreography, and dress code that favors skin-tight leather, Len Wiseman’s feature-length directorial debut is unique in its own ways with much to admire, especially making a household name out of Kate Beckinsale.

What about the rest of the cast from Underworld and its three follow-ups with a prequel right in the middle? I can think of a couple other well-known efforts from Scott Speedman, the male lead of the first two films, but, additionally, I would not be surprised if some of you forgot about some of the bigger names who would join the cast later.

In that case, how about we go take a look at the most notable actors known for joining the war between the two most notorious species of the undead? These are the current whereabouts of a handful cast members since rising above the Underworld.

Kate Beckinsale (Selene)

After gaining notoriety in Pearl Harbor and Serendipity, to name a few, playing Selene, the face of the Underworld franchise, made Kate Beckinsale one of the most sought after action stars in Hollywood, but she was sure to never limit herself to just one genre. In between reprising her role as the vampire warrior three more times, the British beauty would take on the affections of the eccentric Howard Hughes in The Aviator, a husband obsessed with an enchanted remote in Click, a sadistic hotel manager in Vacancy, and even more vampires and werwolves alongside Hugh Jackman in Van Helsing. 

Beckinsale has also voiced Queen Ayrenn in two iterations of the online role-player The Elder Scrolls, and will return to action in Jolt and comedy in director Charlie Day’s El Tonto, both of which are in post-production.

Scott Speedman (Michael Corvin)

Selene would find a love interest in medical student Michael Corvin after he becomes a hybrid of the two warring creatures at the story's center, thanks to a bit from her and a lycan named Lucian (a little more on him soon). One of Scott Speedman's more notable roles after starring in two Underworld films saw him, with onscreen wife Liv Tyler, facing off a different kind of monster in the 2009 home invasion thriller The Strangers and later, a creature even more obscure, but equally malevolent, in a small role from the A24 creature feature The Monster. 

The British former Felicity star made his most recent return to television in a recurring role on TNT's series of adaptation of Animals Kingdom and will make in a rare appearance in a comedy, alongside Aubrey Plaza and Michael Caine, Best Sellers, which is now in post-production.

Michael Sheen (Lucian)

As Lucian, the progenitor of the lycan race, Michael Sheen had the advantage of playing both an antagonist in the Underworld franchise and a protagonist, particularly in the 2009 prequel, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, as well as receiving a taste of a bloodsucker's life as Aro in the Twilight films. The 51-year-old British actor has played a hefty variety of characters onscreen, onstage, or on-air, from either fiction or real life, including an angel with a demonic best friend in a miniseries adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Good Omens or Prime Minister Tony Blair, whom he has portrayed in three respective films, two of which he received award nominations for. 

More recently, Sheen appeared as the serial killer father of an criminal psychologist in the Fox drama series Prodigal Son and is preparing to star in existential dramedy The Price of Admission alongside Jeff Goldblum and voice a character in an animated adaptation of Heart of Darkness.

Bill Nighy (Viktor)

It is always exciting to see Bill Nighy make an appearance, but as the sinister Vampire Elder Viktor (whom he would reprise twice) he convinced audiences how much they love him as a villain, made further evident by his performance as Davy Jones in two Pirates of the Caribbean films. Underworld was also the first of several memorable death scenes for the 70-year-old, Golden Globe-winning actor, most notably Shaun of the Dead, as well as many more roles rooted in fantasy, such as Harry Potter ally Minister Rufus Scrimgeour, the target of some secret agent gerbils in G-Force, and a time-traveling father in About Time for Richard Curtis, who directed him in a reprisal of his Love, Actually character in honor of Red Nose Day in 2017. 

Bill Nighy made a return to the world of vampirism on the animated Netflix original Castlevania, but is focusing more on family entertainment for more of his upcoming projects, including a new adaptation of the classic novel Heidi.

Kevin Grevioux (Raze)

In addition to playing Raze, a lycan and the second-in-command to Lucian, Kevin Grevioux was the original creator of the concept for Underworld and would team up with director Len Wiseman and screenwriter Danny McBride (no, not that Danny McBride) to develop the story, in addition to producing the first three installments of the franchise. The film would become his first writing credit, after years in Hollywood landing small roles in big movies (some that were nameless) like Batman Forever and The Mask and even performing stuntwork, before starting his own comic book imprints, later writing a few titles for Marvel and DC, and eventually voicing characters from both respective comic book universes in various animated projects. 

Grevioux continues to work behind and in front of the camera and recently wrapped filming sci-fi adventure The Prey with co-star Danny Trejo.

Rhona Mitra (Sonja)

Rhona Mitra has a career much like Kate Beckinsale's, but in reverse, having starred in multiple thrillers and action projects before she was cast as the Sonja, daughter of Viktor and the female lead of the 2009 prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. The role would spark several more opportunities in the action and fantasy genres (some more successful than others) and mostly on television, two of which also involved vampires, such The Gates, a suburban crime drama on which she played modern day bloodsucker, and The Strain, on which she hunted bloodsuckers this time. The British actress will also soon be seen in the third chapter of the Skyline franchise, Skylin3s, and has joined the star-studded voice cast of the upcoming science-fiction video game Squadron 42.

Theo James (David)

After making his franchise debut as pure-blood vampire David in Underworld: Awakening, English actor Theo James would be promoted to male lead in 2016's Blood Wars. However, he grained further recognition playing second-in-command to a film's female hero 2014 as Tobias "Four" Eaton opposite Shailene Woodley in Divergent trilogy. Even with that success, it seems James has felt a bit homesick for his first big franchise since the last installment, given how many of his subsequent projects have involved fellow Underworld alums, such as voicing a role in Castlevania alongside Bill Nighy, starring in a 2018 musical audio drama adaptation of H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds with Michael Sheen, and playing a widowed engineer desperate to achieve the perfect AI in Archive, which he and Rhona Mitra recently wrapped up and is slated for 2021.

Charles Dance (Thomas)

Making his first Underworld appearance in Awakening as David's father, Thomas, was Charles Dance, whom film aficionados may also recognize as Clemens from Alien 3, Commander Denniston in The Imitation Game, or an evil sorcerer taking on Eddie Murphy in The Golden Child. The three-time Emmy nominated, English acting veteran, who recently played a villain in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, has had an equally prolific career on television, including Netflix historical drama The Crown, Amazon exclusive miniseries The Widow (also starring Kate Beckinsale), and, especially, as Tywin Lannister on Game of Thrones. Dance's next big cinematic role will be in Kingsman prequel The King's Man, followed by David Fincher's biopic of Citizen Kane's screenwriter Mank, and he is preparing to making his sophomore writing and directing effort with an adaptation of Alice Thomas Ellis' The Inn at the Edge of the World.

Michael Ealy (Detective Sebastian)

Aldo joining the cast in Underworld: Awakening was prominent actor Michael Ealy, not as a vampire nor a lycan, but a human whose dark past has earned him a rare sympathy toward vampires. You could draw comparisons from Detective Sebastian to his role as a human-like android policeman in a world overrun with conflict between man and machine in the short-lived futuristic crime procedural Almost Human, but probably less so to the other TV cops he has played since on Secrets and Lies and Stumptown. 

Since his sole Underworld franchise appearance, Ealy has also starred in three remakes (About Last Night, Jacob's Ladder, and HBO's hit series adaptation of Westworld) and recently reunited with Deon Taylor, the director of the 2019 thriller The Intruder, for upcoming crime drama Fatale, which will also star Hilary Swank and Mike Colter.

India Eisley (Eve)

It was Detective Sebastian's sympathy toward the vampire race that convinced him to help Selene protect Eve, her daughter with Michael Corvin and played by India Eisley in her first major motion picture performance after breaking out on the teen drama series The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Playing the unprecedented tri-hybrid of vampire, werewolf, and immortal strains sparked her scream queen reputation that would carry on in roles like the title character of twisted fairy tale retelling The Curse of Sleeping Beauty, the psychological Netflix exclusive Clinical, and the upcoming stalker drama Every Breath You Take, also starring Sam Claflin and Michelle Monaghan. 

Following her role opposite Chris Pine in Patty Jenkins' crime miniseries I Am the Night, the 26-year-old has been rumored to co-star with her mother, veteran actress and fellow scream queen Olivia Hussey, in a rare comedic role for the satire One Week In Hollywood.

As the Harvey Weinstein case winds down and the former head of The Weinstein Company heads to prison for 23 years, new stories are still emerging about the former producer’s behavior. While Kate Beckinsale says she wasn’t sexually harassed or assaulted by Harvey Weinstein, she did reveal a post 9/11 story that is still fresh on her mind nearly 20 years later. Probably because she remembers Harvey Weinstein calling her a “cunt.”

In her words, the year she starred opposite John Cusack in the romantic charmer Serendipity, the premiere happened in 2001 shortly after the 9/11 attacks. In a detailed post, the actress revealed she and some of her co-stars wanted to cancel the premiere but that Harvey Weinstein insisted that the show must go on.

She chose a demure white suit and tie for the occasion, detailed in her Instagram post:

The premiere went off without a hitch, but little did she know, Harvey Weinstein was not happy about her clothing choice at Serendipity’s premiere. She says under the guise of setting up a playdate, he used the opportunity to repeatedly describe her using c-bombs and other language about her body. Per Kate Beckinsale:

In the post, she said she tried to defend her choice of costume, noting that post 9/11 wasn’t really the time for sultry looks, but according to her he didn’t want to hear it. She later touched base on the Me Too movement and Harvey Weinstein going to prison, noting that this sort of abuse is still happening in some corners of Hollywood.

The old trope of certain personalities being difficult to deal with has been a part of Hollywood’s story and its lore for a long time. I was watching THR’s writer’s roundtable some months ago and they were asked about this type of personality, with many of them stating there's no room for this behavior anymore. As a result, this type of personality has started to fade out as the times have changed in the industry. Twenty years ago, this wasn't the case.

Anyway, the point is, one related thing from the interview I learned from The Two Popes writer Anthony McCarten is that some people who worked with Harvey Weinstein actually had worked clauses into their contracts in order to enable them to get paid more if Harvey Weinstein yelled at them about something. He said he personally never worked for The Weinstein Company for that reason.

The story from Kate Beckinsale came just a few hours after Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison. Harvey Weinstein is currently 67 years old, and if he serves his full sentence, he will be 90 years of age before he gets out of jail.

In addition, the story also comes just a few short days after Jennifer Aniston was sort of brought into the Harvey Weinstein narrative after evidence of an email chain came out in which Weinstein glibly mentioned he thought Aniston should be killed. Women including Ashley Judd, Marvel actress Gwyneth Paltrow, Rose McGowan and more have all shared their Harvey Weinstein stories as well.

Though she is still best known for her work in the extenuating Underworld franchise, Kate Beckinsale has been exceptionally expansive in the films she chooses to appear in. Whether it's comedies, dramas, horror or what-have-you, Beckinsale makes a point to push herself as an actress and appear in a wide variety of titles, even if they don't always turn out for the best. You gotta respect an actress who's willing to push herself with new projects.

With that in mind, I want to take a moment to celebrate some of Kate Beckinsale's best movies. While she has starred in a few not-so-great titles (I've heard The Disappointments Room more-than-lives up to its title), she has also proven herself to be a commendable actress with a variety of well-regarded films under her resume. That's why we're taking the time to celebrate some of Kate Beckinsale's best films.

10. Contraband

I'll have a hard time convincing anyone that it's a sold-cold classic, but Contraband is a lot more fun that people give it credit for. Director Baltasar Kormakur's 2012 English-language remake of the Icelandic film Reykjavík-Rotterdam, which starred Kormakur, was given an unceremonious January release, leading many moviegoers to write it off as a disposable Mark Wahlberg action flick that somehow escaped being a direct-to-DVD exclusive. If you check out the film, it proves to be a surprisingly pulpy, action-friendly crime thriller with some solid performances and some solid suspense.

Included in the cast's roster of dependable talents is none other than Kate Beckinsale. As Kate Farraday, the wife of Mark Wahlberg's Chris Farraday, Beckinsale helps to sell the heightened emotions of this intense film, and Beckinsale proves that even in a small role, she can still sell the tension.

9. Everybody's Fine

While there are many movie fans out there who are quick to lament the loss of great Robert De Niro performances in recent years, the actor provided a richly compelling performance in 2009's gently moving ensemble piece, Everybody's Fine. Sadly, however, there weren't many people who got a chance to see the actor prove his talents in this particular film. He wasn't alone. De Niro was joined by a strong ensemble, including Drew Barrymore, Sam Rockwell, Melissa Leo, and Kate Beckinsale. Though the movie wasn't well-regarded as a whole, everyone here works in their respective parts.

In the role of Amy, Kate Beckinsale is one of many conflicted characters who are at-a-loss for how to deal the current situation with their father, Frank Goode, played by Robert De Niro. It's a character study that doesn't come together quite as well as it should have, but the great character work and the strong acting does a good deal to help the film become an emotionally enriching, then heartbreaking, experience for the viewers who did see it.

8. Serendipity

In an interview with Bustle back in 2016, Kate Beckinsale admitted that when fans come up to her to profess their love for one of her movies, more times than not it's Serendipity that comes out of their mouths. Often from guys too, believe it or not! The romantic comedy was met with modest reviews when it was released, but it has struck a chord with a lot of people, and this romantic comedy about destiny and chance has really found a warm place in the hearts of romantics everywhere, waiting for that perfect moment with fate aligns, stars cross and lovers — at last — find each other.

Evidently, it's not as easy as it seems in the movies, but that doesn't mean people like Serendipity any less. The 2001 romance finds Kate Beckinsale playing the role of Sara Thomas, who alongside John Cusack's Jonathan Trager, has a chance encounter with her soulmate and spends the next few years hoping to get reacquainted. It's a charming, earnest little movie, and if you take a chance on it, you mind find yourself falling in love with it too.

7. Cold Comfort Farm

An eccentric and sophisticated comedy with an exceptional cast, Cold Comfort Farm hasn't been in the spotlight much since its release back in 1996, and that's a bit of a shame. Joining the bright talents of Joanna Lumley, Ian McKellen, Rufus Sewell, Stephen Fry and Eileen Atkins, Kate Beckinsale certainly was in great company for this high-minded period piece. Yet, similar to the other comedies mentioned here, she certainly proves herself well.

Playing Flora Poste, Kate Beckinsale is given another great showcase earlier in her career to prove her talents in both comedy and drama, and she uses this opportunity to excel in both regards. A film that is bristling with wit and often giving ample time to its talented array of actors, Cold Comfort Farm is a very fine showcases for this rising actress — even if it's one that, in the scheme of things, has been forgotten about by moviegoers at large.

6. Much Ado About Nothing

Everyone has to start somewhere. For Kate Beckinsale, the famous actress got her big break in Kenneth Branagh's Shakespeare adaptation, Much Ado About Nothing. Playing the role of Hero, opposite her on-screen lover Claudio (Robert Sean Leonard), Beckinsale plays a bright and warm presence, full of youth and exuberance as she makes her first trip to the silver screen. Of course, this movie would pave the way for many more trips.

Although Much Ado About Nothing is the actress' first movie, away from some TV projects, it still remains one of her most well-acclaimed projects, showcasing a bright future for the actress in a variety of films. Everyone gets their start somewhere, and this is where Kate Beckinsale had her first chance to shine. Clearly, Much Ado About Nothing proved there was certainly something for Kate Beckinsale's promising future as an actress.

5. Love & Friendship

Quite possibly Kate Beckinsale's best-reviewed films by critics, as well as one of her most celebrated performances, Love & Friendship was the second time that Kate Beckinsale found herself in good company with writer/director Whit Stillman, providing Beckinsale with a strong, elegant performance that served as one of her most established in recent years. It's the type of performance that makes you wish she could do more witty period comedies like this one, but it's evident these type of movies are becoming harder to come by. Better to just appreciate those we have.

As the quick-witted, bitingly funny Lady Susan Vernon, Love & Friendship was based on Jane Austen novella, Lady Susan, and it makes you wonder why Whit Stillman has adapted a Jane Austen novel before. Or why it took him this long to make a period piece in this vein. No matter. In addition to the director having a grand time with the material, Kate Beckinsale is living it up in a way she hasn't in ages. It results in one of her best roles to date.

4. Nothing But The Truth

A well-crafted political thriller with a strong script, tight direction and exciting performances, Nothing But The Truth is one of those movies that weirdly — and disappointingly — got overlooked in the broad scheme of things. It's a shame because, as you might guess, it's a good movie, and one that deserved a bigger audience than it was given. Alas, there are always good films that fall through the cracks. This is one of them.

Featuring a strong cast to help bring its true life story to the big screen, including established talents like Matt Dillion, Angela Bassett, Vera Farmiga, David Schwimmer and Alan Alda, it's Kate Beckinsale in the lead role of Rachel Armstrong who gets to shine the most. A top reporter who outs a CIA agent and finds herself imprisoned for being a good journalist and refusing to reveal her source, Beckinsale is given a chance to prove herself as an actress in many different respects, and I hope she gets more movies like this one to prove that she has what it takes to really excel.

3. Snow Angels

While David Gordon Green might be better known for his studio comedies like Pineapple Express and Your Highness or horror thanks to 2018's reboot Halloween, it's often his independent dramas and dramedies that showcase the best of his filmmaking talents. Indeed, one such drama is Snow Angels, the somber and coldly compelling adaptation of Steward O'Nan's novel dealing with the loss of innocence in a quiet, humble small town.

Working alongside future Oscar winner Sam Rockwell, Kate Beckinsale provides a commanding performance as Annie Marchand, who finds herself put into emotional turmoil after a string of unfortunate events. It's a gentle, yet heartbreaking, movie, filled with pathos and sadness at nearly every turn. It doesn't necessarily earn "crowdpleaser" status in a conventional sense. Yet, the craftsmanship and the great character work result in one of Kate Beckinsale's finer movies.

2. The Aviator

While Martin Scorsese's The Aviator, based on the life and times of millionaire Howard Hughes, isn't often seen as one of the director's greatest films, it's rare that Scorsese churns out anything less than subpar. Indeed, The Aviator is not only a good film, but one that is better than it's given credit for. With top-notch production details, gorgeous period designs and lavish spectacle to compliment the rich character work of this complicated character, it is a compelling movie, and one that is certainly made better by its array of strong performances, and not merely from Leonardo DiCaprio as Hughes.

In addition to stellar work from John C. Reilly, Ian Holm, Alec Baldwin and Cate Blanchett in an Oscar-winning supporting turn, Kate Beckinsale also makes a noteworthy appearance as actress Ava Gardner, who shared a relationship-of-sorts with our main character throughout a 20-year period of time. It takes enormous pressure to play such a famous figure of the silver screen. Yet, Kate Beckinsale pulls it off splendidly, capturing the legacy and the luxury of the character, while also showing us her dramatic talents. It's an overlooked performance from Beckinsale's career, and it shouldn't be.

1. The Last Days Of Disco

Whit Stillman is one of our great, if often under-respected, wordsmiths who also happens to helm a great many terrific movies. One of his better works is often considered to be The Last Days of Disco, which features one of Kate Beckinsale's best performances — if not her absolute best to date. Joined alongside Chloe Sevigny, Beckinsale often proves her firecracker talents for comedy is often at their best when she works with Stillman.

Playing the role of Charlotte, one of a pair of Manhattan book editors who are fresh out of college and looking to take on the world-at-large, often hoping to find love and laughter under the disco balls of local night clubs, The Last Days of Disco is a comedy that's fun and sophisticated in equal measures, once again proving the sharp, witty talents of its cast and creator. While the actress would return to comedies in frequent measure, she only rarely achieved the success she found with this particular role in this particular movie. At least she and Stillman worked together again with Love & Friendship.

There are several other movies from Kate Beckinsale's filmography which are popular, but didn't make the cut this time around. For instance, in addition to the aforementioned Underworld series, there are probably folks out there wondering where Pearl Harbor, Vacancy, Click and The Only Living Boy in New York might be. In the past few weeks, there has been speculation and gossip floating around the internet questioning the state of Pete Davidson and Kate Beckinsale's relationship. A celebrity couple who were met with controversy due to their age differences, the comedian and the actress were always given a tough time about their early 2019 love affair. Nevertheless, the heart wants what it wants, and that should've justified their relationship to anyone.

But, it sounds like their relationship has come to an end, as there are reports being made that Davidson and Beckinsale are no longer seeing each other. While the couple has not said anything officially about their relationship, it sounds like their romance might've faded almost as quickly as it came together.

As it was reported by Page Six, Pete Davidson and Kate Beckinsale are reportedly no longer an item. While none of the sources who confirmed this information were named directly, people close to the couple told the publication that the problem came not from their age differences, which was a constant sore spot to the public, but rather Davidson's "public lifestyle."

The Saturday Night Live actor has garnered a lot of attention this past year or so thanks to his previous relationship (and short-lived engagement) to Ariana Grande. Reportedly, the blaring-hot laser focus on their steamy romance was a little too much for Kate Beckinsale to handle.

Shortly thereafter, Beckinsale and Davidson were spotted making out at a basketball game, which seemed to confirm their relationship status. They haven't necessarily welcomed the media attention, but they've gotten it anyhow. And, while Kate Beckinsale suggested that she wasn't completely bothered by the publicity, it sounds like that might have changed.

Ultimately, Beckinsale can't help but feel a bit "shocked" by the attention their romance has received.

Kate Beckinsale's comments about her romance with Pete Davidson were collected during her recent profile with The Los Angeles Times. The actress was promoting her new streaming series Widow, which will debut exclusively on Amazon Prime. Ultimately, the heart wants what it wants. And Kate Beckinsale's heart wants Pete Davidson. It can be hard sometimes for people to understand one's relationship to another person, or what they might see in their romantic partner. No matter the reason for why Kate Beckinsale and Pete Davidson are smitten together, they don't need to seek anyone's approval but their own. And that's just the way it's gonna be.

Idris Elba hosted Saturday Night Live last night, and they did throw in an obligatory nod to all the James Bond casting rumors. The Thor star also got a clever Bruce Banner/The Hulk sketch. But -- as gross as it sounds -- the night belonged to R. Kelly. From Kenan Thompson's brilliant Cold Open to Pete Davidson's bold Weekend Update segment, R. Kelly dominated the show.

The 007 talk came at the very end of the "Can I Play That?" talk show. Idris Elba, Cecily Strong, and Beck Bennett played a game -- produced by Twitter, so there's a hint -- answering whether certain actors can play certain roles in this day and age. The final round was "Can You Play James Bond?" and Elba's character said he knew the answer to that one. Host Kenan Thompson gave him a look. "Do you, though?" #Classic

Idris Elba wasn't part of the Cold Open -- the host usually isn't -- and it wasn't a political one this week. Instead, Leslie Jones played Gayle King as Kenan Thompson took on the role of R. Kelly for a spoof on the real interview. This should be on Thompson's Emmy reel:

The other major R. Kelly headline from the show went to Pete Davidson, who called out hypocrisy all over the place from the Weekend Update desk. He compared supporting the Catholic church to being an R. Kelly fan. "I don't really see the difference, only like one's music is significantly better." Better than just boycotting everything, he argued, is to just acknowledge the "bad people" involved by name, and give a dollar to a charity that helps sexual assault survivors every time you listen to songs from someone like R. Kelly or Michael Jackson.

Pete Davidson also perfectly called out the age gap hypocrisy from people obsessed with his relationship with Kate Beckinsale. If anyone has questions about a big age difference in a relationship, he said, they can go ask [very long list of famous men dating much younger women].

Good news: Sandra Oh is hosting next on March 30, which is a week before the premiere of Killing Eve Season 2. She's hot off her co-hosting gig at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards. Since she's a TV star, does this mean SNL is finally easing into letting more TV stars host the show? Usually they try to focus on someone promoting a movie.

So it sounds like SNL will be on repeats for the next couple of weeks until Sandra Oh arrives. Check out what else is still airing out there during midseason 2019.

Kate Beckinsale is one of those actresses who it seems obvious would be in a superhero movie at some point. She's got the look, and she proved her action chops during her decade plus as the death-dealing vampire Selene in the Underworld series. And though she hasn't donned superhero tights yet, she did come close. At one point back in the mid-2000's she was attached to play Wonder Woman in a film. That didn't pan out, and the character languished until Gal Gadot took on the role and starred in the character's solo film last year. Looking back, Kate Beckinsale really isn't upset that her Wonder Woman movie fell through, because it wouldn't have been good, as she explained:

How's that for bluntness? Personally I think Kate Beckinsale would have made a great Wonder Woman, but a great Wonder Woman alone does not make a successful movie. As she told Variety, Kate Beckinsale believes it would not have been a great movie, based on the script that she read. She has no regrets about not being Wonder Woman, and is glad things worked out the way they did because of the quality of Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman. That film is already beloved, and Beckinsale has intimated in the past that the film she was in the running for would definitely not have been that.

We don't know exactly which script Kate Beckinsale read back then, but it was presumably the one written by Joss Whedon. The director of The Avengers wrote the script for the cancelled film, which back then seemed like a great pick, given his history of writing great female characters. However the script was leaked a while back, and it came under a bit of criticism from some people-- partly for focusing too much on Steve Trevor and making Wonder Woman play second fiddle. Obviously things may have changed from the page to the screen, but if this is the script Kate Beckinsale read it sounds like she too had some problems with it.

Kate Beckinsale doesn't have any regrets about not getting to rock the bracelets and tiara, but I think she would still be well suited to a role in a comic book film. Not that long ago some fan art came out imagining her donning the black leather again, this time to play Catwoman in the DCEU's Gotham City Sirens. Kate Beckinsale can next be seen in Farming, the directorial debut of actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. She will also be starring in Amazon's upcoming drama series The Widow.

As for the Wonder Woman movie that did get made, it's getting a sequel. Wonder Woman 1984 opens in theaters on November 1, 2019. Keep an eye on our guide for everything going on the DCEU.

Kate Beckinsale has maintained her badass action star status since 2003's Underworld, but recently the franchise has received a few blows to the head. The latest entry was 2017's Underworld: Blood Wars, which made a mere $30 million at the box office and was received poorly by audiences, with CinemaBlend's own Mike Reyes pleading Sony to end the franchise while it still can in his review. We definitely wouldn't blame Beckinsale for moving on from vampire death-dealer Selene with the current state of the franchise and contribute her acting talents elsewhere. And that's just what she has planned as she switches to starring in indie endeavors. While promoting her latest drama Farming, Beckinsale was of course asked about her most iconic role and if she was planning on come back. She responded:

Looks like Kate Beckinsale as Selene is no more. While it would have been nice for the franchise end on a high note, not every franchise is given this chance. During her interview with Variety, Beckinsale shared that her career had roots in indie films, and when she found herself on huge posters on the side of every bus, it was quite off-putting. The actress also opened up about how she has worked on big movies that have been the "worst misery" of her life. Of course, we don't know if she was referring to the Underworld franchise or the many other successful projects on her resume, she is clearly happier working in the more low-profile sector of Hollywood. Beckinsale also turned down the opportunity to play Wonder Woman in a mid-2000s cinematic adventure starring the DC heroine. She said she wasn't eager to suit up in a leotard, though she also explained that the script was nowhere near the quality of what Gal Gadot received.

Farming recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival to high acclaim. It stars Kate Beckinsale as foster mother to a Nigerian-born child who joins a skinhead gang. The film is a passion project for Suicide Squad's Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who wrote, directed and stars in the movie based on his own childhood. Beckinsale has also found a place on Amazon Prime Video, as she has collaborated on two films exclusively on their platform, Love & Friendship and The Only Living Boy in New York. The actress is also set to star in her first big television show on the upcoming Amazon Prime series, The Widow.

While confirmation of Selene's death (until some sort of reboot likely becomes in the works) is bittersweet, Kate beckinsale is keeping herself busy with some exciting roles that she is passionate about. The star might have put away her arsenal of now, but if the right project comes around, we would love to see Beckinsale kick ass in a film again.

Following Kate Beckinsale's most recent (disappointing) outing with Underworld: Blood Wars in 2016, it may seem as if her action days could be over. Even if the rest of the Underworld franchise is really is a no-go, she could theoretically suit back up in black leather for another role, such as the notorious and bewitching Catwoman. Maybe? Here's a glance at how Beckinsale could look as DC's next Catwoman, should someone want her for that role, potentially in Gotham City Sirens. Take a look.

Thanks to BossLogic, fans don't have to imagine how well Kate Beckinsale would look in a catsuit. The artist has created a modernized look for her that sleekly updates previous versions of her costume with goggles and a more sultry get-up. Beckinsale as Catwoman could show us a new side of the character not seen with Michelle Pfeiffer or Halle Berry. Even so, I would be a little worried that her take on Selina Kyle could perhaps be a little too close to her iconic Underworld role. Plus, the actress was asked to join the DCEU in the past when an iteration of Wonder Woman was in the works in the mid-2000's, but she turned it down. The project was later abandoned. While what was pitched to her wasn't the same as Gal Gadot's version of Diana Prince, she did express her disinterest in playing a similar part as her reason for saying no.

A new Catwoman could join the DCEU soon, this time alongside her girls Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie) and Poison Ivy. Suicide Squad director David Ayer has been attached to the Gotham City Sirens project for quite some time, yet details have yet to be released on the casting of Poison Ivy or Catwoman. Still, there are many actresses who have yet to show their action chops as a leading lady in an action film as Beckinsale has for the past 13 years who might be a better fit for the role. We'll have to wait and see how the whole thing shakes out.

For now, Kate Beckinsale has her hands full with her upcoming role in The Widow, which will be her first hand at a television role and will allow her to show variety in her acting ability. In The Widow, she will venture into the African Congo to find out about her husband's death after seeing him alive on the news. Kate Beckinsale was also recently seen in The Only Living Boy In New York. Gotham City Sirens has not officially announced it's cast yet, but on the bright side, at least we know now that Beckinsale could totally rock a DCEU costume.

The last few years have seen the small screen taken over by an army of actors traditionally known for their work in movies. Clive Owen did it with The Knick, Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey did it with the first season of True Detective, and comedian Zach Galifianakis has done it with his work on Baskets, to name just a few. Now, it's Underworld star Kate Beckinsale's turn, as the actress has officially signed onto Amazon's upcoming drama series, The Widow. And it sounds great.

In The Widow -- which will begin its production this month in South Africa, Wales and Rotterdam -- Kate Beckinsale will star as Georgia Wells, a woman who decides to cut ties with her past and remove herself from the world in the wake of her husband's apparent death; hence the show's title. However, she eventually sees her husband on the news, seemingly no longer dead, and decides to set off on a journey into the African Congo to piece together the mysteries of her past and present. While further details about the plot weren't available, that basic premise alone (plus Beckinsale's involvement) feels like it'll be enough to get many potential fans onboard.

Taking on a role in The Widow marks Kate Beckinsale's first significant foray into the world of television, which could go a long way towards altering the course of her career. It is arguable that she only has one definitive and trademark role: Selene in the Underworld franchise. (She was also offered the role of Wonder Woman before the birth of the DCEU, but nothing ever came of it). However, moving into serialized television could offer Ms. Beckinsale a chance to become even more well-established, possibly leading to more dramatic roles.

Despite the fact that this is somewhat new territory for Kate Beckinsale (in the sense that she is making the jump into television), it is not the first time that she has worked with Amazon Studios. Specifically, she recently collaborated with the stream-happy folks at Amazon for the productions of The Only Living Boy in New York and Love & Friendship. Given her willingness to work with them again so quickly, it seems that her feature experiences must've been relatively enjoyable. Now, we will just have to wait and see what happens when The Widow starts coming together on the streaming service.

If there's one definitive, unquestionable bright spot in the DCEU right now, it has to be Diana Prince. Gal Gadot's fierce Amazon has turned into an instant sensation among audiences, and the Wonder Woman movie has become a box office smash. The character experienced a long road to achieve this success, and many talented actresses turned down the role before she eventually came to life. One such actress was Kate Beckinsale, and The Only Living Boy in New York actress recently revealed that she turned down Wonder Woman because the version pitched to her didn't resemble the current Diana, saying:

That's something that a lot of people tend to forget when they think about the long development of a Wonder Woman movie. The project went through an intense evolution over the years, going through several permutations (even current Justice League and Batgirl director Joss Whedon took a shot at the story at one point) before the DCEU even came into existence. In that regard, Kate Beckinsale didn't necessarily miss out on the role of Diana Prince, because the fan-favorite version of the character created by Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot wasn't the version of the character that the Underworld actress would've played when she had the chance in the mid-2000s.

In that regard, it's hard to imagine that Kate Beckinsale truly missed out on the role of a lifetime. The superhero genre was still coming into its own in the 2000s, and Marvel hadn't even truly cracked the code yet. With female superhero movies like Elektra and Catwoman falling flat, it's probably for the best that Warner Bros. and DC ultimately opted to wait until the genre could convincingly sustain a Wonder Woman franchise. Beyond that, with her work on projects like the Underworld franchise and the Total Recall remake, Beckinsale has pretty firmly established herself as a bonafide action icon --- even without Diana Prince.

Of course, Kate Beckinsale's children also factored into her decision not to play Diana Prince. The actress continued her explanation to Yahoo Movies and explained that she wasn't entirely eager to jump into the role at the risk of potentially embarrassing her kids, saying:

You can pick up a digital copy of Diana Prince's first solo adventure on August 29, and the DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K editions of Wonder Woman will hit shelves three weeks later on September 19. For The Amazonian warrior's next adventure, make sure to catch her in Justice League when the DC superhero team assembles in theaters on November 17.

For over a decade, Sony's Screen Gems imprint has been known for two go-to horror franchises: Resident Evil and Underworld. Both have extremely dedicated leading women, and have slowly but surely diminished in returns, ultimately wearing out their welcome. With Resident Evil: The Final Chapter heading to theaters at the end of this month, one lame franchise will be put out of its misery, leaving Underworld all of the room to suck. And boy, does Underworld: Blood Wars prove that there's still a fair amount of suck left in this franchise.

Selene (Kate Beckinsale) has gone through a lot since the first Underworld film. She's turned her back on her own kind, lost her lover, and hidden her own child away for her own protection. And yet, that doesn't seem to be quite enough, as a new Lycan militant, Marius (Tobias Menzies) is hell bent on capturing Selene to find the location of her daughter - the only hybrid Lycan / Vampire in the world. Allied with her vampire kin once more, she'll have to fight harder than she's ever fought before, becoming something entirely different to face the challenges ahead.

Don't worry if you haven't seen any of the Underworld films, as Underworld: Blood Wars will catch you up to speed on the events of the previous films in Selene's story. Multiple times, in fact, as the film uses not only a monologue that dumps a ton of exposition at the head of the picture, but also through several "genetic memory" sequences that see characters drinking blood to view one's life history, or to prove one's identity is in fact as they claim. If only there were some sort of drink that could have summed up the events of Underworld: Blood Wars without having to sit for the hour and a half to watch it, as I would have vastly preferred that method.

Omitting the clips from previous films, Underworld: Blood Wars barely makes the cut as a feature film, with a story so thin you'd think it was allergic to ultraviolet lights and script editing. Which would normally mean that the action quotient of the film would try and somehow make up for whatever was lacking in the narrative department. Here's where Underworld: Blood Wars lets us down again, as the action is incredibly pedestrian, playing it safe with the usual shoot outs, slo-mo, and hand to hand combat that action films trade in. So with a lackluster story, and abysmal action, just what is there to show up for with Underworld: Blood Wars?

Well, as per usual, a good number of the cast members assembled to take part in the latest Underworld film are too good for this drek, and you can see it in their attempts to elevate the material they're given. Franchise newcomer Lara Pulver, she of Sherlock fame, happens to be an interesting frenemy to Kate Beckinsale's Selene. Also giving it all they've got is respected actor, and generally pleasant presence Charles Dance, whose Thomas actually makes you want to pay attention to what's going on in the film. It's actually Dance's absence through parts of this film that sinks Underworld: Blood Wars', and that's keeping in mind that franchise lead Beckinsale is absent for a good portion of the film, particularly through the second act and climactic battle.

If the Underworld franchise was ever any good, that era has long since past. These films have gone from cult joy to guilty pleasure to just plain stupid, and Underworld: Blood Wars is the film that's brought the entire endeavor to the station of stultifying shame. Oh, and pay no mind to the trailers that keep teasing "Every Blood Line Must End," as the film promises at least one more entry on the way. Please, Sony, end this franchise while you still can. Let's hope Resident Evil: The Final Chapter can somehow outdo this static piece of garbage that barely qualifies as a horror and/or action movie, as well as a movie in general.

Even though X-Men and Spider-Man were the movies that kicked off the modern superhero movie craze, Blade got the jump on them a few years earlier in terms of a Marvel property enjoying success as a blockbuster. Wesley Snipes' version of the vampire killer led three movies over six years, but the character been absent from the big screen ever since. However, according to actress Kate Beckinsale, Marvel may have plans to bring Blade into the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon.

While plugging her own upcoming vampire movie, Underworld: Blood Wars, at New York City Comic-Con today (via Comicbook.com), Beckinsale was asked whether a crossover between Underworld and Blade has ever been discussed. She said that while the idea had crossed some minds, nothing ever surfaced, and she's heard that Marvel has plans for Blade in the future. She said:

The last time Blade starred in his own movie was in 2004's Blade Trinity, which was largely panned. Two years later, Spike TV aired a short-lived TV series, but following its cancellation, Blade hasn't been seen in live action media since, despite the fact that Marvel reacquired the Blade rights in 2011. However, this isn't the first time that the possibility of Blade returning has been discussed. Wesley Snipes has repeatedly expressed interest in making Blade 4, and he even supposedly met with Marvel to discuss the character. Now Kate Beckinsale has apparently heard that Marvel has something in store for Blade, though if/when those plans come to fruition is a mystery. That said, sorry for those of you who were eager to see the Blade and Underworld franchises cross over. It's not happening.

So assuming that Marvel does indeed have plans for Blade, what could they be? Well, a movie is the first possibility that comes to mind, but considering how gory those original movies were, a theatrical reboot would be harder to make nowadays. Remember, Marvel maintains a firm PG-13 line when it comes to the MCU stories told on the big screen. Maybe they'd be willing to make an exception for Blade, but it's unlikely. That leaves Netflix as the second and more feasible option. The online streaming service has become a haven for Marvel's more violent and gritty stories, and although they primarily have a street-level focus, events in Daredevil Season 2 and the upcoming Iron Fist have opened the door for mystical elements. Blade certainly fits the violence quota, and provided the series fits a reasonable budget, seeing him slaughter vampires and other weird monsters could work on the small screen.

Vampire v.s. Werewolves: it's a tale as old as time. These supernatural monsters never seem to get along very much in any movie or TV show, and that's especially true in the Underworld series. The action horror franchise as centered around a war between the two groups, and it doesn't look like anyone will be waving a white flag in Underworld: Blood Wars. The fifth film just released a new trailer showing the age old war escalating to new heights. Check it out.

Premiering just in time for New York Comic Con, the new trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars is taking no prisoners. Kate Beckinsale returns as Selene, the vampire ass-kicker and main character of the franchise. Selene will once again be thrown into the middle of the war between vampires and werewolves, and this time both factions will be hunting her down. Selene's got magical blood (a trope that is getting really tiresome now) that can make any werewolf or vampire invincible. Hunting her is Marius (Tobias Menzies), the new Lycan leader, and Semira (Lara Pulver), a vampire, who wish to use Selene's magic blood for themselves.

Possibly the biggest takeaway from the trailer is that Selene will be getting her own upgrade. She goes through some kind of transformation that grants her new powers, but comes with the side effect of giving her highlights. She was able to take out a squad of goons single-handedly in just a few seconds, which makes you wonder if anyone can stand up to her now. Plus, Selene's daughter Eve will play a major part in the film, sharing her mother's blood and becoming a target herself.

The increasingly convoluted series of Underworld has never gotten too much critical praise, but it usually does fairly well at the box office, which is why we're now on the fifth of these movies. The series has always had a striking similarity to the Resident Evil film series -- at least on the surface level. Supposedly, there is a sixth movie in development with Beckinsale set to reprise her role, but there haven't been many updates on that.

Underworld: Blood Wars is directed by Anna Foerster, making her film directing debut after serving as the cinematographer for Alien: Ressurection and The Day After Tomorrow. Foerster has also directed episodes of Criminal Minds and Outlander. The script is penned by Cory Goodman (The Last Witch Hunter). Joining Beckinsale is Theo James (The Divergent series) as David and Charles Dance as Thomas, both men reprising their roles from Underworld: Awakening. The cast is further rounded out by James Faulkner, Peter Andersson, and newcomer Clementine Nicholson.

Underworld: Blood Wars is scheduled to hit theaters on January 6, 2017.

It’s been quite a week for airing cinematic grievances. John Crawley has now backtracked on his comments disparaging working with Keira Knightley on Begin Again, while Kate Beckinsale also made some rather unsavoury comments about Pearl Harbor director Michael Bay, too. However, now Michael Bay has come and insisted that all is still good between himself and the actress, explaining that Kate Beckinsale’s quotes were just spun by the dastardly media.

The Rock, Bad Boys 2 and Transformers blockbuster director took to his own website to reveal that he and Kate Beckinsale have already laughed over the online kerfuffle, insisting that it’s just a "funny story" that has been blown out of proportion. Michael Bay wrote about the pair now being enemies:

Well, that cleared that up. To be fair to the various outlets, Cinema Blend included, that picked up the quotes, it did seem like Kate Beckinsale’s remarks were rather pointed and negative. For those of you catching up, here's what Kate Beckinsale said of Michael Bay during a recent interview on The Graham Norton Show: 

Nevertheless, according to Michael Bay, this was just Kate Beckinsale jostling and publically making fun of her old chum in a very public arena. I mean, she could have said much worse things about the filmmaker, like comparing him to Adolf Hitler as Megan Fox did shortly after she'd finished her tenure on the Transformers franchise. Now that the dust has settled, we can finally get down to the real business of pairing Michael Bay and Kate Beckinsale back together for Pearl Harbor 2. Am I right? Hello?  

Michael Bay has a reputation for being difficult on set. Some view his behavior as that of a tyrant. Others appreciate how economical, and all-encompassing, Bay’s style might be. I mean, Transformers starlet Megan Fox once compared Bay to Hitler, and there’s really no way to spin that as positive. Years after you have left a Michael Bay set, you still end up talking about him, as when Pearl Harbor actress Kate Beckinsale recently remembered the bizarre reasons she felt working with Bay was beyond difficult.

Kate Beckinsale was the third leg of a love triangle in Michael Bay’s historical epic, Pearl Harbor. But, as she recalls, she doesn’t think that the director would have been attracted to her, because she wasn’t exactly pretty or buxom enough. During a recent interview on the Graham Norton Show (via The Wrap), Beckinsale said of the bombastic filmmaker:

Now that’s a passive-aggressive dig. And anyone who thinks Kate Beckinsale isn’t beyond attractive needs to have their eyes examined. In Pearl Harbor, alone, she exudes a classic beauty that allowed her to play a dedicated nurse caught between two soldiers during a time of war. She may not be Bay’s type, but she’s certainly gorgeous.

If you look at Bay’s casting choices over the years, though, he doesn’t go for blondes. A brunette Tea Leoni came between two Bad Boys in the original movie, while a similar brunette – the aforementioned Megan Fox – entertained audiences in the initial Transformers movies.

Could Michael Bay have said something nicer about his lead actress, Kate Beckinsale, to the throngs of global media while promoting Pearl Harbor? Absolutely. The movie came out in theaters in 2001, and the director’s comments still sting Beckinsale 15 years later. But Bay continues to work. And actresses, like Nickelodeon star Isabela Moner, keep signing up to work for him. The Hollywood cycle spins on.

Just in case you were wondering, yes, Underworld 5, a new chapter in the highly stylized vampires versus werewolves franchise, is happening, and they’re putting together a pretty solid cast. That includes the latest addition to the saga, Tobias Menzies, who has most recently been hanging out in old-timey Scotland on Starz in their time hopping romance Outlander.

Deadline reports that Menzies has joined the cast of Underworld 5, also known as Underworld: Next Generation, in what they call a "major" role. He will play Marius, a shadowy new leader of the Lycans—that’s the werewolves for the uninitiated—and you can be sure that his presence will pose a harrowing new threat for their vampire enemies.

Already in line for the next Underworld is franchise lead Kate Beckinsale, who is set to reprise her role as Selene, the badass vampire warrior with a penchant for Lycan slaying who is the protagonist in three of the four previous films. She opted out of 2009’s Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. Theo James, who had a role in Underworld: Awakening in 2012, is also coming back in the part of David.

Underworld: Next Generation also reunites Menzies with director Anna Foerster, who helmed the season finale of Outlander, which sounds like quite the to-do. Apparently, his character, Black Jack Randall, tortures and repeatedly sexually assaults the lead character, Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan. Given that the Underworld movies usually skew more towards the PG-13 range, you have to imagine that level of brutality is going to be toned down quite a bit. This also marks the first time a woman will direct an Underworld movie, though the franchise has generally revolved around a female protagonist.

There aren’t a ton of details about the plot of Underworld 5 yet, but it’s starting to come into clearer focus. At the end of the last film, Selene’s Lycan/vampire hybrid hubby Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman), who is also her baby daddy, is nowhere to be found, a fact that will likely come into play. It also appears that the age-old war between the two clans continues to rage as new generations take up the clash, hence the title.

Perhaps this time around we see David take up a more central role—he was gravely wounded last time, and watched most of his cadre slaughtered, which sounds like the makings of an angry zealot to me. And if Marius has risen to power on the Lycan side, it stands to reason that a new wave is coming to the forefront, perhaps one that leans towards the more fanatical side. I’d be willing to bet that Selene and her family somehow find themselves in the middle of all of this, but that’s just a theory at this point.

Underworld: Next Generation is slated to begin filming in Prague in October, which sounds like an ideal place to film an action-centric movie about vampires fighting werewolves.

In this day and age, where studios view every film as a potential franchise starter, it shouldn’t surprise me when I hear about an unexpected sequel. Still, every time there’s news about a new Underworld movie my first reaction is, "Really?" Well, Underworld 5, also known as Underworld: Next Generation, is indeed happening, and it will once again feature the true face of the franchise, Kate Beckinsale.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Beckinsale is set to reprise her role as the badass vampire Selene, who has appeared as the protagonist in three of the previous four installments. She sat out 2009’s Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. At this point in the franchise, she has a daughter with her lycan/vampire hybrid hubby Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman), though at the end of the last film, Underworld: Awakening, he is nowhere to be found, which will probably come into play at some point.

Right now there aren’t a ton of details regarding Underworld 5, as they’re being kept under tight lock and key. The few tidbits we do know, however, indicate that the plot sees the never-ending war between vampires and lycans continue as new generations on both sides take up the conflict. Makes sense that it would be called Next Generation. Theo James has a small role in Awakening as a young vampire named David, and is set to reprise his role in the new film, so perhaps he could be part of the driving force behind this reignited feud. He does sustain a serious injury and see much of his coven slaughtered, which sounds like the makings of one pissed off fanatic vampire warrior to me.

Anna Foerster has been tapped to direct Underworld 5. All of her directorial efforts up to this point have been in TV, on shows like Outlander and Criminal Minds, but she has a ton of experience behind the camera as a director of photography, second unit director, and assistant director. She’s worked a great deal with the master of disaster Roland Emmerich, lensing movies like White House Down and Anonymous, as well as contributing footage to The Day After Tomorrow and 10,000 BC. So she’s certainly no stranger to working on big movies, and though the franchise has primarily featured a female protagonist, this marks the first time that a woman has been hired to direct an installment of the action-centric vampire series.

Underworld 5 is scheduled to film in Prague starting in October, and you have to assume that Prague in the fall is an ideal place to shoot a movie about ancient sects of vampires and werewolves battling each other.

Selene's days aren't up yet. Despite rumblings that the Underworld franchise would barrel on without her, Kate Beckinsale is attached to continue playing the gorgeous vampire warrior for at least one more film. And there's a lot more to come in the wave of Underworld franchising.

Screen Rant reports Len Wiseman dropped details on the expansion of the Underworld universe while he was at New York Comic Con promoting his hit television series Sleepy Hollow. Wiseman, who helmed Underworld and Underworld: Evolution and happens to be married to Kate Beckinsale, revealed that Underworld has three branches of expansion in the works, a "soft reboot," another Beckinsale-fronted feature, and a television series. At this time, all three are in development. Wiseman declined to comment as to which might roll into production first.

Word of an Underworld reboot first hit last August, when the saga's most recent entry (Underworld Awakening) ended up being the biggest hit the franchise had seen. It now appears that Underworld Awakening was such a success that Screen Gems is doubling down. Theo James, who played David in the film, is being set up for a spin-off feature Underworld: Next Generation. The script will have characters created by past Underworld writers Kevin Grevioux, Danny McBride and Len Wiseman, but will be scripted by Cory Goodman, who penned the Paul Bettany vampire thriller Priest as well as the Vin Diesel vehicle The Last Witch Hunter, which is now in production. So, it's not so much a reboot, as a spin-off.

Far less is known about the Selene-centered sequel that Wiseman is pitching. It's future might depend on Beckinsale's upcoming schedule. She recently wrapped on the Terry Jones-directed comedy Absolutely Anything, and is currently in production on The Disappointments Room. This thriller is being shot in Greensboro, North Carolina and centers on a family who moves into a rural haunted house. It's being directed by D.J. Caruso, who is best-known for the 2007 Rear Window remake Disturbia. But The Disappointments Room's most enticing element is its screenwriter, Wentworth Miller, a TV star turned celebrated scribe thanks to his brazen and bonkers Stoker.

Lastly, there's the Underworld television series. It's an obvious way for this vampires versus werewolves franchise to expand. First off, Underworld is still strong with fans. Then, vampires have a long and successful history on TV dramas, from Dark Shadows to Buffy The Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel. Now add to this the series's ability to tease "from the makers of Sleepy Hollow" and you have a show that could well be the toast of a fall season in the not too distant future. Possibly even a TV show that Kate Beckinsale could cameo in every once in a while.

While Kevin Smith’s war with film critics might have cooled off in recent days, it looks like the ongoing hostilities between vampires and werewolves are about to heat up again with the latest casting news for fifth film in the Underworld franchise. That’s right ladies, Theo James will be front and center for all of the vampire vs. lycan action in the latest installment of the ongoing series.

The Wrap reveals that James, who appeared as a vampire named David in the 2012 film Underworld: Awakening, will return for the newest installment where he’ll be serving in a leading-man capacity alongside two as-yet-uncast female leads. The new film appears to be setting up as something of a transition entry for the series, particularly since series regular Kate Beckinsale won’t be returning for another tour of duty.

James is coming back to the franchise thanks to an option in his contract with the studio. Since making Underworld: Awakening, the actor has become a pretty hot commodity – all due to his leading man role alongside Shailene Woodley in Divergent, an adaptation of a best-selling young adult novel from Veronica Roth. The actor is set to be busy, because aside from his obligations on Underworld, he’s also locked into Divergent sequels Insurgent (which has already finished shooting) and Allegiant parts 1 and 2.

Launched in 2003, the Underworld series has been a solid box office performer, if not always a critical darling. The films in the series have grossed an impressive $458 million in ticket sales, no doubt helped along by the image of Beckinsale kicking ass in slow motion while wearing a skintight catsuit. Each new entry in the series has expanded upon the mythology of the world’s fictional universe, including the prequel film, 2009’s Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.

2012’s Awakening exceeded expectations, taking in over $160 million and opening the door for the franchise to continue. Early speculation was that the fifth film in the series would be a reboot, but the return of James could drive a stake into the heart of those stories once and for all. Presumably, if David is returning, then the new film will continue to evolve the storyline of the previous entry – which introduced humanity as a third participant in the continuing battle between supernatural creatures.

The real question is, can this series carry on without Beckinsale in a major role? Underworld: Rise of the Lycans featured Rhona Mitra instead of Beckinsale, and it’s the lowest grossing film in the series to date. It’s too soon to play box office prognosticator on this new entry, but getting the right actresses for the female leads will be critical.

Director Brad Anderson isn't wasting any time between projects. His latest film, The Call starring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin, arrives in theaters today, and already he has found the leading lady for his next movie.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Kate Beckinsale is now in talks for Eliza Graves, a new psychological thriller that is based on the 1945 short story "The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether" by Edgar Allan Poe. Should she sign on, the actress would star as the titular character, a Harvard Medical School graduate who goes to work at an insane asylum. After beginning a relationship with one of the doctors, she discovers that the patients have overtaken the facility. Production will begin this June in Bulgaria.

Anderson actually has some experience making thrillers in mental hospitals, as he got his big break directing the 2001 legitimately terrifying Session 9. He is best known, however, for directing The Machinist, starring Christian Bale, for which the star dropped 60 pounds. He also has an extensive resume working on television, directing episodes of shows like Boardwalk Empire, Fringe, The Killing, Treme and Person of Interest.

After taking a couple years off, Beckinsale had a big year in 2012, starring in Contraband with Mark Wahlberg; releasing the fourth installment of the Underworld franchise, Underworld: Awakening; and playing one of the main villains opposite Colin Farrell in her husband Len Wiseman's Total Recall remake. She recently completed production on the Karen Moncrieff written-and-directed drama The Trials of Cate McCall, which co-stars James Cromwell and Nick Nolte.

The original Die Hard remains my favorite movie of all time. Of all time. Realistically, I’ve watched it hundreds of times. And one of the games I’ve come up with on repeat viewings is singling out Bruce Willis’ stunt double. He doesn’t really look like Willis. And it stands out in key scenes. Go back and watch John McClane’s brutal fight against Karl (Alexander Godunov) near the end of the film. You’ll be able to spot the stand-in at regular intervals.

The stunt doubles photographed alongside the actors they are hired to play look much better. A gallery of 15 stunt doubles has been posted to TwistedSifter. 

I’m not sure I can tell which is the real Kate Beckinsale and which is her double in the above photos. I’m also not sure how flattered Jennifer Lopez should be by the fact that her stunt double is played by a man. And then there’s Portman, who suffered some harsh criticisms for Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan as Oscar voters tried to figure out how much ballet dancing the actress did on her way to winning a Best Actress trophy.

My favorite story from the stunt people featured on the site, though, has to be Zoe Bell, who has graduated from brave stunt actor to actual actor, thanks to chances from Quentin Tarantino (who used her to great effect in his Grindhouse movie, Death Proof). She’ll appear as Tracker Peg in QT’s Django Unchained later this year. But she also was incredibly charming as Bloody Holly in Drew Barrymore’s Whip It, and she has tremendous potential as a leading lady. Give her more chances, Hollywood!

Can you tell Sony Pictures is ramping up its marketing machine on behalf of Len Wiseman’s Total Recall reboot? First, we were given a teaser clip for an eventual trailer. And now we have a motion poster for the upcoming motion picture, which we’re sharing below courtesy of JoBlo:

The site also posted an exclusive one-sheet, which uses the same promotional image asking the audience, “What Is Real?”

That’s Colin Farrell playing Quaid, a factory worker who begins to suspect he might be living a double life as a spy. Arnold Schwarzenegger toplined to original Recall back in 1990, directed by Paul Verhoeven. The remake co-stars Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, Ethan Hawke, Bill Nighy and Wiseman’s beautiful wife, Kate Beckinsale.

On Sunday, we’ll reportedly be able to see the full trailer for Recall, which will be in theaters on Aug. 3. Motion posters and teasers for trailers are fine, but I’m waiting to see the full trailer before determining if this remake is staying on my radar. I think Farrell’s a great choice for the lead, and I’m one of the few who thought Wiseman did a bang-up job with the fourth Die Hard. What can he do with an updated Recall? We’ll soon find out.

While it hasn’t inspired as many rumors and casting stories as The Hunger Games, the Total Recall remake has been privy to its own share of movie news gossip lately. Within just the last few months both Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel have been mentioned in connection with the project, but until today, those juicy tidbits weren’t anything more than rumors. Now they’re official.

Through a shrewd bit of domestic pandering, director Len Wiseman has convinced his wife Kate Beckinsale to join Total Recall. She’ll play Farrell’s former spouse Lori. In addition, Jessica Biel has also officially boarded. Since she’s not the wife of anyone involved, we can assume her interest is more business than personal. According to Collider, she’ll fight alongside Farrell and his establishment-shaking brethren as Melina.

The first time I saw Total Recall, I was almost euphoric before the opening credits even rolled. Eleven years old, addicted to action movies and dumbfounded my parents let me rent it, I was convinced it was going to be the greatest film I had ever seen. Needless to say, it lived up to my lofty eleven year old expectations. Civilians were gunned down, chicks flashed their third boobs and I forged a new found respect for Arnold’s impressive killing capabilities. A decade and a half later, I was noticeably less excited when plans for the Colin Farrell-led remake were announced, but it turns out my early eye rolling may have been misguided. The additions of Beckinsale and Beal further fortify an already stacked supporting cast that already included Ethan Hawke and Bryan Cranston

Total Recall begins filming in Toronto this week with an eye toward a domestic release next summer.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Underworld fans are going to have to wait even longer before they get to feast their eyes on a fully latexed Kate Beckinsale again. Underworld 4 has been cranking through development for quite some time now with Len Wiseman back at the helm, but even so Sony’s Screen Gems arm has decided to push release back from September 23, 2011 to January 20, 2012. They don’t cite a reason according to ComingSoon, but presumably they’re buying extra time to really hone the story. Screenwriter John Hlavin had this to say:

The fourquel will be filmed in 3D but that should come as no surprise. But despite the feeling that Kate Beckinsale is coming out of the screen, she’s still never going to touch you.

Sony also announced that they’ve set a release date for Roland Emmerich’s next film, Anonymous at March 25, 2011. Prepare yourself...the film is NOT a tale of survival set against some sort of global apocalypse. It’s actually a political thriller about who really wrote the plays of William Shakespeare, but I’m sure the world will crumble under someone's feet at one point or another.

There’s been a rumor going around that Kate Beckinsale is too shy to run around naked in her new movie. The celeb gossip sites have been pushing around the notion that she’s demanded a body double for Whiteout, an Antarctic murder mystery in which she plays a U.S. Marshall.

You wouldn’t think there’d be much opportunity for nudity with a movie set in Antarctica, it’s not exactly bikini weather down there after all, but word is that there’s a shower scene in which her character is supposed to flash her naked butt cheeks in front of the camera.

Well Warner Brothers Pictures wants you to know that there’s absolutely no truth to the rumors, and that Kate doesn’t care if you see her ass. That dosen’t however, mean you’ll see it. Here’s the official statement sent to us by the WB earlier today, which only makes the whole thing more confusing:

‘The claims appearing on the internet today that Kate Beckinsale requested a body double for filming on Whiteout are absolutely untrue. As is standard practice on many movies a body double was hired for several scenes by the production and not at the request of Kate Beckinsale. Whiteout producer Susan Downey confirmed that “Kate Beckinsale made no request for a body double for this production.”’

So the rumors no one has been paying any attention to are absolutely untrue, even though the end result is basically the same: You won’t be seeing Kate Beckinsale naked any time soon. The world is a sadder place for it.
