The time is finally upon us. The 98th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O’Brien, are this Sunday, and here at CinemaBlend, we’ve made our picks on who we think will take home the top eight categories of the night. Three of the categories (Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress) have clear-cut favorites amongst our staff. The remaining five (both screenplay awards, both supporting actor awards, and the award for Best Actor) are, quite honestly, very tricky to guess, because our opinions vary quite a bit.

The ceremony will be live on March 15th at 7pm ET on ABC, and available to stream live with a Hulu subscription. There are sure to be some surprises, but we’ve done our best to predict what we think will happen (though not necessarily our personal choices). We’ll start with the Best Screenplay Awards and work our way towards our pick for Best Picture, hitting all the acting awards and Best Director along the way. Each of our picks will be in bold among the list of nominees.

In our staff poll, the Best Adapted Screenplay choice is perhaps the most divisive. All five nominees were favored by at least one writer, and it was quite close between Hamnet, Frankenstein, and One Battle After Another. This highlights just how tricky this task can be, because it’s easy to make a case for any of the five. Ultimately, in a very tight poll, Paul Thomas Anderson came out on top for One Battle After Another.

Sinners set the record this year for the most Oscar nominations for a film ever, with 16, including this nomination for writer Ryan Coogler. The momentum for Sinners has only been growing as this very long awards season has gone on (thanks, Olympics). While the staff pick wasn’t as close as it was for Adapted, there was quite a bit of support for Marty Supreme and Sentimental Value, but in the end, Sinners came out on top. This isn’t quite a slam dunk, but it’s the most definitive of the five awards that weren’t easy picks for us.

Best Supporting Actor

• Delroy Lindo for Sinners – Our Predicted Winner

This race has been truly all over the place. Del Toro started the season strong with a string of critics' awards, Elordi won at the Critics' Choice, Skarsgård won the Golden Globe, and Penn has come on strong late with wins at BAFTA and the Actor Awards (formerly The SAG Awards). Four of the five nominees were picked by at least two writers each, and though Lindo hasn’t really been in the conversation until very late, on the strength of Sinners and his amazing performance, he is a real contender now. In fact, he is now the frontrunner, in our opinion.

Best Supporting Actress

• Elle Fanning for Sentimental Value
• Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas for Sentimental Value
• Amy Madigan for Weapons
• Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners
• Teyana Taylor for One Battle After Another – Our Predicted Winner

Like Best Supporting Actor, the race for Best Supporting Actress has been a wild ride, but it seems to have come down to three: Madigan, Mosaku, and Taylor. Each of the three has taken home awards this season, and while our choice ultimately had quite a bit of support, it’s impossible to rule out one of the other two women winning. Two months ago, it seemed like Taylor was going to sweep the season, but Madigan and Mosaku clearly have a lot of momentum as we get to the end here. We still think Taylor is the favorite for One Battle After Another, but just barely. Madigan and Mosaku are considered the favorites by quite a few folks around here.

Best Actor

Now this is a fascinating race, and CinemaBlend’s poll reflects that. We asked the staff to name both who they would vote for and who they think will win. While the majority of staff have predicted Chalamet to win, a huge majority picked Michael B. Jordan as who they would have voted for, personally. It’s safe to say the race is between these two, and, in full disclosure, much of our polling took place before Jordan won at the Actor Awards. There seems to be a late surge happening in favor of the Sinners star. It would not surprise anyone if he takes home the Oscar, but we predict that Chalamet will win in what could be a historic victory.

Here’s where we’re getting to the Oscars that everyone on staff is most confident about in our predictions. In fact, in the Best Actress race, there haven’t been any surprises at all leading up to the Oscars. Jessie Buckley has completely swept the awards leading up to this Sunday, and there is no reason at all to think that will change at the Academy Awards. Buckley’s performance in Hamnet is incredible, and it’s hard to imagine anyone sneaking in and winning this over her. Stone and Byrne did receive some support from the CinemaBlend staff, but an overwhelming majority picked Buckley to win Best Actress.

Best Director

Like Best Actor, the race for Best Director comes down to two men, Ryan Coogler and Paul Thomas Anderson. All season long, the general consensus is that this is PTA’s time and he’s going to walk away with the win. Our prediction is no different, as a huge majority of our staff believe that this is Anderson’s award to lose. Could he, though? Well, interestingly, yeah, he could. As with Michael B. Jordan, when we ask the staff for their favorite, most picked Coogler as their personal choice, even if almost everyone still predicted PTA to win.

It has gotten trickier and trickier to predict Best Picture over the years. Sure, there are times like two years ago when everyone pretty much knew that Oppenheimer was going to take home the biggest prize of the night. But then there are ones like last year when Anora came on very strong at the end of awards season, but was a little bit of a dark horse on Oscar night. This year could be either.

The strong consensus of the CinemaBlend staff is that One Battle After Another will win Best Picture, but as in a couple of categories, a majority of the staff picked Sinners as their personal favorite. This isn’t surprising, after all, Sinners was our choice for the best movie of 2025. The late momentum for Sinners has turned this award into a real nail-biter, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see Ryan Coogler on stage accepting the award at the end of the night. However, as a group, we have to stick with our prediction, given that all but three staff members picked One Battle to win (interestingly, the other votes all went to Hamnet).

Other than KPop Demon Hunters winning Best Animated Feature and “Golden” from that movie winning Best Song (sorry again, Diane Warren) being pretty much foregone conclusions, there are close races in every single category.

Kate Hudson belts out Neil Diamond tunes with Hugh Jackman in Song Sung Blue and, for her performance as Claire Sardina, she's received some serious awards buzz. And, with major award nominations come a number of public appearances at different events. Hudson has been looking gorgeous all awards season, sporting dazzling dresses. However, after looking all glammed up for many red carpet events, Hudson decided to relax at home in a flattering bikini.

I can imagine that, in some respects, it can be fun to get all dolled up for red carpet events by donning beautiful dresses and sporting perfectly styled hair and makeup as well. Still, I'd argue that it's hard to beat the comfort of just lounging around the house. Hudson recently did just that, as she shared a home-centric carousel to Instagram, with photo showing her in a swimsuit that screams “song sung blue":

As the Almost Famous actress said in her caption, she truly does seem “happiest at home,” as she stares straight into the sun while sporting swimwear by her pool. Hudson's look in the post is a far cry from the gorgeous gowns fans have seen her wear in recent months. Still, I'm so here for her tiny blue bikini, which is definitely giving sizzling hot, yet comfy, vibes. Also, the other shots Hudson shares of her abode give off serene vibes.

Kate Hudson has proven plenty of times she can flawlessly rock a two-piece swimsuit, whether it was while showing off her pregnancy bump in 2018 or looking stunning in her Glass Onion bikini scene. While the idea of walking a red carpet in a gorgeous ensemble is sweet, it's hard beat the notion of having fun in the sun while wearing a bikini!

With that said, the Raising Helen actress looked absolutely gorgeous in each red carpet gown she wore this awards season. From her silver Giorgio Armani Privé gown at the Golden Globes to her BAFTAs dress with its long train and back cutout, Kate Hudson is styling with grace. In an Instagram reel below, the How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days actress continued to amaze with Old Hollywood-esque glamour in her SAG Awards dress below:

Set to Hudson’s cover of Patty Cline’s “Sweet Dreams” from Song Sung Blue, the post shows her looking luminous while smiling and laughing in her Valentino dress. The gown’s flowing cape and long train are just commanding attention in the best way. As the actress/singer will be gracing the Oscars soon due to scoring her second nomination in 25 years, I’m all the more curious how she’ll wow everyone when she steps onto the red carpet for Hollywood’s biggest night.

Any actress whose gotta look sophisticated and fabulous for many red carpet events deserves a moment to wear a cute little bikini enjoy a relaxing day. Here's to more relaxation time for Hudson following the conclusion of awards season. Plenty of people watched the BAFTAs on the 2026 TV schedule on Sunday to see which of the best films of 2025 would win top honors, but there were plenty of celebrity fashion-related reasons to tune in as well. I didn’t think anyone could top the simple elegance of Emma Stone’s ribcage-baring gown, but Kate Hudson certainly gave her a run for her money in a red dress that featured a back cutout and gorgeous train.

Kate Hudson was nominated for Best Leading Actress at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts — the British equivalent of the Oscars — for her performance in Song Sung Blue. While she didn’t take home a trophy (Jessie Buckley took that for giving the “performance of the year” in Hamnet), she was a winner all the same in her satin Prada gown:

The actress — who is also nominated for an Academy Award at next month’s ceremony — sported an off-the-shoulder red satin number with a cinched waist that flowed all the way to the floor. As you can see in the Instagram post above, she turns around to reveal a mostly backless dress, the strip of fabric over her shoulders creating a gorgeous cutout.

I thought that might be the most noteworthy aspect of the gown, but then the video shows her walking forward to reveal a train that could only be described as regal — even as she was in the presence of actual royalty, with Prince William and Kate Middleton attending the BAFTAs.

Kate Hudson pulled her hair back into a bun that screamed Old Hollywood glam, and she accessorized with Chaumet jewelry, per WWD.

The actress never fails to impress with her fashion choices, and she seems to be picking from a warmer palette recently. Last month she showed off a flattering red sheer number, as well as a bright red minidress with another long train for the Critics Choice Awards.

Kate Hudson also reunited with longtime friend Gwyneth Paltrow recently to present her an award, matching the Marty Supreme star in pink.

Speaking of Marty Supreme, Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner were also in attendance at the BAFTAs, and while Chalamet may have left without a trophy, he did receive plenty of weird British snacks, courtesy of host Alan Cumming. This awards show is always full of surprises — like having Paddington Bear present an award.

It’s always amazing to see what looks these talented actors cook up during awards season, and luckily the fun’s not over yet! We’ll see Kate Hudson again, as she’s received her second Oscar nomination this year — an honor she’s very deserving of, in our own Hugh Scott’s opinion — after being nominated for Best Supporting Actress in 2001 for Almost Famous.

Ever since the nominations for the 98th Academy Awards were announced in January, there has been online chatter criticizing Kate Hudson’s nomination for Song Sung Blue, which you can see with a Peacock subscription. Much of that has centered around Chase Infiniti getting “snubbed” for her performance in One Battle After Another in favor of Hudson. I totally get that sentiment, but I don’t like the term “snub,” and I am here to defend the Academy’s nomination of Hudson.

First, Let’s Stop Saying 'Snub'

Ok, so I’m just as guilty of this as anyone, but using “snub” diminishes the nominees who were rewarded. Heck, I just used the term recently when discussing a documentary that I was shocked wasn’t nominated for an Oscar. However, the backside of that same term, generally used to praise a person or movie that wasn’t nominated, implies that another nominee isn’t deserving. That’s very rarely the case, in my opinion.

So while Chase Infiniti is wonderful in One Battle, it’s not fair to Hudson, who is generally perceived to be the actor who “took the place” of a potential nomination for Infiniti. Both performances are fantastic, even when the movies couldn’t be any more different. I suppose that highlights the inherent weirdness of rewarding art with trophies, but that’s a whole other topic that I’m not going to get into here. Mostly, I just want to talk about Hudson’s nomination-worthy performance and why I’m thrilled she’s been recognized.

Hudson Completely Nailed The Role Of Thunder

I’ll admit I wasn’t all that excited about seeing Song Sung Blue when it hit theaters late last year. I’m not a huge Neil Diamond fan, and while the movie was about a tribute act called Lightning (Hugh Jackman) and Thunder (Hudson), not Diamond himself, I knew there would be a lot of his music in the movie. I don’t need to espouse my consternation with “Sweet Caroline” again. The movie surprised me, and I loved it.

I especially thought Hudson was fantastic in it. I even went back and watched the documentary the film was based on, and I walked away from that even more impressed with Hudson’s performance as a Wisconsin girl made good against tremendous odds. She is funny when she needs to be, and she is powerful when tragedy strikes. It’s a completely well-rounded performance that hits all the right notes (pun intended), and her chemistry with Jackman is magnetic. It’s everything a great acting performance can be, and it’s a shame so many people want to dismiss it.

To be sure, I think, as this award season has shown, the Best Actress category seems to be a one-woman race. Jessie Buckley has been cleaning up for her incredible turn in Hamnet, and I do expect her to take home the Oscar next month. That said, if Hudson were to pull off the upset, after all the great performances she’s given over the years, and especially here in Song Sung Blue, I will be the first one to jump off my couch and applaud.

It’s hard to believe it’s taken 25 years for Kate Hudson to land a second Academy Award nomination. Her first Oscar nod in 2001 was for her supporting role in Almost Famous as “band aide” Penny Lane, which launched her acting career. Over the next two decades, Hudson made a name for herself in the rom-com genre, though she recently admitted her career could have gone several different ways. In hindsight, the Bride Wars actress says there’s only one thing she would have done differently.

In a full circle moment, Kate Hudson has secured her second-ever Oscar nom for another musical movie, Song Sung Blue. Starring opposite Hugh Jackman, the 46-year-old actress plays Claire Sardina, one-half of the Neil Diamond tribute duo Lightning & Thunder. At the 28th Costume Designers Guild Awards, Hudson was asked by Fox News Digital if she would advise her younger self to do anything differently in her career, and the Fool’s Gold actress had a very honest take:

The box office smashes and missed opportunities of the past 2.5 decades have not won her an Oscar yet, but they’ve certainly made her a household name. I do wonder how certain movies, like The Devil Wears Prada, would have ended up if she had accepted the leading role. Would the Glass Onion actress have ventured further into the action genre had she taken on the role of Mary Jane in Spider-Man? It’s hard to imagine a different person than Kirsten Dunst as MJ, which is the exact reason Hudson doesn’t dwell on what could have been.

Her experienced take after over two decades in Hollywood is that certain actresses are destined for certain roles, including herself, and I couldn’t agree more. To think of anyone besides Hudson in the iconic How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days soft yellow dress is criminal. In fact, her only regret when it comes to her film history has to do with fashion:

If I were a famous actress, I’d take whatever I wanted from sets, although it makes sense that Hudson’s first choice would be her wardrobe. After hearing about Hudson’s close friend and fellow fashion it-girl Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘90s archive closet, I’m dying to see what Hudson managed to save from her 2000s rom-com era.

The Something Borrowed actress has forever been a trendsetter both on and off-screen, always the envy of every red carpet. No matter what film she is promoting, her sense of style is always intact. Her recent red, sparkly sheer number was giving major elegant Song Sung Blue vibes, and I say she deserves another nomination for this look alone.

I can’t wait to see her red-carpet fit for the upcoming 98th Academy Awards, which will air live on March 15th on ABC as part of the 2026 TV schedule. Though she is facing some tough competition in her category, “Actress in a Leading Role,” I truly believe Kate Hudson has a fair shot at taking home the coveted award.

I’m a fan of Song Sung Blue. Though I’m not the biggest fan of Neil Diamond, I do dig a few of his songs, some of which are featured prominently in the film, which you can now watch with a Peacock Subscription. I love “Cracklin’ Rosie,” for example. I also have a soft spot for “Forever in Blue Jeans.” On the other hand, I can’t stand “Sweet Caroline.” I wrote about my distaste for the song when the movie came out, and now I’ve learned things could have been much worse.

The Digital Extras Include More Of The Wedding Scene With The Dreaded Song

In the movie, “Sweet Caroline” is featured prominently, of course. It starts as a performance by Mike (Hugh Jackman) and Claire (Kate Hudson) at their wedding and extends to a couple of different performances in their regular bar sets. I cringed the whole time. I don’t need to get into why, I’ve done that already. However, it could have been in multiple places in the movie.

In the digital extras, if you purchase the movie with an Apple TV subscription, there is an extended cut of the wedding scene featuring the whole song. It’s a fun scene, sure, but ugh, the song feels like an eternity to me. If the director (Craig Brewer) had included that whole scene and cuts of the other performances in the movie, I don’t think I would’ve walked out of the theater liking the movie as much as I did. What I’m saying is that I understand why the song had to be in the movie, but I’m thrilled there wasn’t more of it, especially because people can't help but yell the “bom, bom, bom,” during the chorus.

You Don’t Have To Love Neil Diamond To Love The Movie

While Bill Murray’s character, Bob Wiley, says in What About Bob, “There are two types of people in this world: Those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don't. My ex-wife loves him.” I actually fall in between, as I said, I don’t love him or hate him, but I do love this movie despite my ambivalence towards the crooner. It’s not about him; it’s a wonderful story about two local musicians. The kind of musicians that make up most of the world, in all honesty.

And let me just get this out of the way: it’s been popular with critics to crow about Kate Hudson earning an Academy Award nomination for her role as Claire Sardina in the incredible (and true) story in Song Sung Blue. I’m not one of those critics. While I love Chase Infinite in One Battle After Another (the most commonly cited snub), I think Hudson is wonderful in this movie and deserves the recognition. I also just love the movie overall. It’s a different kind of music biopic, which makes it refreshing.

I don’t expect Hudson to take home the Oscar next month; that’s almost certainly going to go to Jessie Buckley for her incredible performance in Hamnet, but I’m psyched she got the nomination, and that Song Sung Blue is getting some recognition, because while it’s not a “serious” movie like Hamnet, it is a wonderful one. Check it out, just please don’t sing along to “Sweet Caroline.” Ever.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson have been leading ladies in Hollywood for decades now, and with both having movies that are being honored with awards this season — Song Sung Blue, for which Hudson is nominated for an Academy Award, and Paltrow’s Marty Supreme — it makes sense that the longtime friends would cross paths. Indeed, they seemed delighted to see each other as they both sported pink for one recent event.

Kate Hudson was honored with an award at the 2026 Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 13, and she and Gwyneth Paltrow’s reunion ahead of the ceremony was posted to Instagram:

The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star could be heard shouting, “You look so pretty!” as she and Gwyneth Paltrow shuffled excitedly toward each other outside of the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara, California. Paltrow seemed to hilariously respond that it’s “such a weird outfit” as the mutual admiration continued.

If by “weird” she meant “sheer and gorgeous,” Gwyneth Paltrow was definitely correct. The Se7en actress sported a light pink Prada dress with a long train attached to the short skirt. The top was mostly sheer, with pink fabric providing modest cover over her chest but giving a good glimpse of her midriff. Her shoulders were also mostly bare, thanks to the dress’ spaghetti straps.

She wore her straight blonde hair in a high ponytail, accessorizing with Christian Louboutin heels that matched her outfit and jewelry by Hearts on Fire that included dazzling dangle earrings.

Kate Hudson was equally stunning in a custom Louis Vuitton dress, which was pink like her friend’s, though a shade or two darker. Unlike Gwyneth Paltrow’s, however, Hudson’s dress was loose, flowing all the way to the ground. The pink fabric was textured, and gold and brown accents were embroidered across the neckline and at her waist.

She wore her own blonde hair down, as her natural waves fell over shoulder, with earrings that showed off some large jewels.

There’s no questioning how close these two actresses are. When Gwyneth Paltrow presented Kate Hudson with the Arlington Artist of the Year Award, she referred to her as “kind of like a little sister to me.” Hudson, in turn, told People just how close their families are, saying:

The actresses’ children have reportedly attended the same schools, and Gwyneth Paltrow even threw Kate Hudson a 40th birthday party back in 2019.

I love seeing this friendship and how these women are supporting each other through awards season. Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t shy about pointing out that awards season is about money, but that’s not stopping her from singing Kate Hudson’s praises. In fact, she called Hudson’s performance “incredible” after seeing Song Sung Blue and said she couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Everybody needs friends like these in their corner, and I’m excited to see if they’ll have more run-ins at the other upcoming awards shows on the 2026 TV schedule (and if they’ll color coordinate again!) Tune into the Academy Awards at 7 p.m. ET Sunday, March 15, on ABC.

I don’t know why, but Hollywood has been in a major funk when it comes to bringing us more great romantic comedies since the early 2000s, in my opinion. There have been a couple of bangers here and there (including some solid releases from the genre last year), but I’m always waiting for one to really wow me. Thankfully, one of our queens of the rom-com, Kate Hudson, is coming back around for an upcoming movie with an inspired partner with whom to share the screen.

Kate Hudson’s Next Movie Is A Rom-Com? Sign Me Up

It’s a good time to be Kate Hudson considering the 46-year-old was just nominated for an Oscar for her movie Song Sung Blue. She must be getting more offers than ever, but I was happy to learn that rather than going the dramatic actor route, she’s going back to a genre she’s famous for. Deadline reported this week that she’s just said yes to starring in a movie called Hello & Paris, which is loosely based on a romance novel by Deborah McKinlay called That Part Was True.

Sure, Hudson was reminding a lot of people of her How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days character with her sports comedy Running Point that came out last year. Otherwise, the actor hasn’t been in a proper rom-com since she was in Garry Marshall’s Mother’s Day in 2016 with Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston. That came out 10 years ago this year!

I’m Equally As Interested In Javier Bardem As Her Leading Man

A rom-com is only as good as its two leads, and I think Hello & Paris struck big by casting Javier Bardem in the other main role. Sure, Bardem’s best movies skew dramas, but we mustn't forget he was in a couple of romances, Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Eat Pray Love, and he was incredibly charming both times. I think he has the stuff to match well with Hudson, and I’m curious to see this movie already.

The movie will apparently have Hudson playing a “fiercely independent” landscape architect who writes to her favorite author (Bardem) before they start writing to each other from different continents and find they have a lot in common. I definitely see why it’s being compared to classics like Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally and You’ve Got Mail, and here's hoping it delivers.

Hello & Paris is being adapted and directed by Elizabeth Chomko, who’s only made one small movie called What They Had (starring Hilary Swank and Michael Shannon) back in 2018. A few years ago, Hudson shared some blunt thoughts about the state of rom-coms that I totally agreed with, so I trust if she’s signed onto this, she’s picked a worthy return in Hello & Paris.

The 2026 Academy Award nominations just dropped, and it’s official, you can call Kate Hudson a two-time Oscar nominee The actress has been given a nod for her role in Song Sung Blue, and her mama, Goldie Hawn, celebrated with the sweetest message to her daughter.

Hudson was given the honor of portraying Claire Sardina, one half of a Neil Diamond tribute band called Lightning and Thunder. Hugh Jackman portrayed Claire’s husband Mike in the film based on the documentary film of the same name about the couple, which came out in 2008. Hudson gained 15 pounds for the role and had the chance to show off her singing chops.

The Sardina family has criticized the movie for being “all lies,” to which Hudson pointed to the real Claire, whom she got to meet for the film and is apparently “so happy” with it. We already know Valentine’s Day feels like it's come very early this year as the likes of Hailey Bieber and Emily Ratajkowski have rocked red (lingerie), but Hudson’s look also feels like a very special early V-Day gift, and a nod to her character . We’ve continued to get updates from Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Heming, over the years regarding the ‘80s and ‘90s action star’s condition since frontotemporal dementia forced him to retire from acting. Willis’ ex-wife, Demi Moore, has had nothing but praise for what Heming’s done for her ex as well as other caretakers, but things got a little more personal during a recent Q&A. Moore opened up to Kate Hudson about a sweet memory from her and Willis’ marriage that resurfaced when she watched Song Sung Blue.

Music is so powerful in the way it can evoke such strong memories and feelings. With Neil Diamond being such an important musician to Bruce Willis, I can only imagine what an emotional experience it must have been for Demi Moore to see Song Sung Blue and hear those tunes.

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore were married from 1987 to 2000 and share three daughters — Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31. Even after their divorce, as he married Emma Heming in 2009 and had two more daughters — Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11 — they remained close, even famously quarantining together during the pandemic.

This latest chapter in Bruce Willis’ story has undoubtedly been hard on all involved, and his daughters have spoken candidly about the hard parts and what they’re grateful for. Emma Heming has described the FTD as both a blessing and a curse, as he is sheltered from the awareness of his disease.

Last year, as Willis' ability to communicate became a bigger issue, the decision was made to move him to a separate house where he could better receive the care he needed. Meanwhile, his younger daughters remained with their mother in the home better suited to their needs.

That meant gaining weight for the part, and Hudson revealed how many pounds she picked up for the part.

I can't imagine having to gain such weight for an acting, but I'd think that it does help a performer get into character more. In Kate Hudson’s case, I'd say it worked well, as she fully embodied Claire Sardina.

It's not typical to hear people talk about the joys of gaining weight, but I love hearing Hudson's comments about being able to eat what she wanted for a time. Considering the praise she's now receiving for her performance, I'd say Hudson's efforts to gain 15 pounds weren't in vain. The latest of these to hit theaters is Song Sung Blue, which has already earned Kate Hudson a Golden Globe nomination. And now the 46-year-old actress and entrepreneur has responded to Mike Sardina's son calling the project "all lies." Let's break it all down.

Critics praised Song Sung Blue upon its release, with the movie focusing on the Neil Diamond tribute band Lightning & Thunder. Michael Sardina Jr. told the Daily Mail that his father is “rolling in his grave right now” after director Craig Brewer’s Song Sung Blue failed to depict their true family dynamic, with Sardina Jr. saying he was “purposely cut out of the film.” According to the late musician’s son:

Mike Sardina’s son from his second marriage to Diane Annunziata was not a character in Song Sung Blue, though he did get $30,000 as a "consultant" for the movie. Mike Jr.’s sister Angelina, meanwhile, was portrayed, as were their stepmom Claire’s children from a previous marriage. Mike Jr. called Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson “monsters” for not mentioning him during the promotional tour, saying:

The director reportedly acknowledged Mike Sardina Jr.’s frustration in text messages to Angelina in October after she and her brother saw the film. Craig Brewer allegedly wrote there was “so much that I didn't get that was accurate” and that he thought Mike Jr.’s issues were due to the fact that “he didn’t directly help the movie.”

Mike Sardina’s son said he’s apparently considering legal action against the production company, Davis Entertainment, as well as distributors Focus Features and NBCUniversal, telling the tabloid:

Mike Sardina Jr. says Song Sung Blue left out much about his dad's recovery journey, as well as details of their “extremely violent” household, including drug use and sibling rivalry between him and his stepbrother. His sister supports the claims, admitting that while the movie does get the love between her father and Claire right, it’s not an accurate portrayal of their lives. She said:

As I was sitting in the theater waiting for Song Sung Blue to start, I was dreading hearing one song in the movie, which was released this week as one of the final movies on the 2025 movie schedule. The movie is a different kind of music biopic, named for a Neil Diamond song, and is about a husband and wife duet called Lightning and Thunder, who were a popular Neil Diamond tribute act in the ‘90s in Milwaukee. I knew that “Sweet Caroline” was coming, and I knew I was going to cringe when it did. It did, and I did. But that's only half the story.

I Don’t Like Sweet Caroline

With all due respect to Mr. Diamond, who I think has some great songs in his repertoire, “Sweet Caroline” sucks. I hate it with the power of 1000 burning suns. Whatever gene that people have that makes them explode with joy and sing at the top of their lungs whenever that song gets played, I have the opposite gene. I immediately recoil and look to get out of whatever situation I am in. I don’t like the song. I don’t like the sing-along that inevitably comes with it. I don’t like the Red Sox.

Okay, that last one isn’t rational in terms of the song, but neither really is my visceral negative reaction to “Sweet Caroline.” I shouldn’t hate the song; it’s fine, I guess, but I’ve never liked it. Even before it became all about drunk people screaming the lyrics and the “bah bah bah” part, I didn’t like it. I like other Neil Diamond songs. “Song Sung Blue” is great. “Forever in Blue Jeans” is as catchy as a pop song can be. “Cracklin’ Rosie” is a classic. The first concert I ever saw was Neil Diamond on the 4th of July in about 1983, and when he sang “America,” it was inspiring. But please god, no more “Sweet Caroline”!

Mike ‘Lightning’ Sardina Loves Neil Diamond But…

Early on in the movie, Mike “Lightning” Sardinia, played by Hugh Jackman, gets some advice from a Patsy Cline impersonator named Claire (Kate Hudson, who has been nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance) that he should do a Neil Diamond tribute. He initially bristles at the idea because the singer means so much to him as a musician. She scoffs and tells him to sing “Sweet Caroline,” which he again bristles at, explaining that there is so much more to Diamond than just that song.

It becomes a recurring thing throughout the movie. People want nothing by “Sweet Caroline,” and again and again, Mike explains that while it’s a great song, there are so many more great songs in his catalog. It’s almost like he’d rather not ever play that one, and I’m right there with him. Maybe it’s the contrarian in me, but I think a Neil Diamond tribute act that refused to play his biggest hit would be aces. Radiohead supposedly hates playing “Creep”; why should Lightning and Thunder love playing “Sweet Caroline”?

That became my favorite thing about Mike in the movie, and in the end, one of my favorite things about the movie, which surprised me in every way. It’s a great movie, and hating “Sweet Caroline” didn’t ruin it for me at all.

On Christmas Day, Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson belted out Neil Diamond songs in Song Sung Blue. She and Hugh Jackman portray the true story of a married couple who perform in a tribute band of the famed artist called Lightning & Thunder. Gwyneth Paltrow was certainly a fan of the movie as she had some kind words to say about Hudson’s performance.

With Kate Hudson’s career going full circle in breaking into the music industry with her debut album Glorious, I had a feeling she’d blow audiences away playing singer Claire Sardina. Gwyneth Paltrow was an example of someone who was blown over by the Oscar nominee’s performance so much that she took to her Instagram stories to sing her praises. Take a look:

“Incredible,” the actress says. I’m sold already! Based on the trailers, I can tell that the Almost Famous star is going to give audiences a transformative performance as a Neil Diamond tribute artist. As her previous Golden Globe mentions came from music-centric films, it appears that movies and music are a perfect combination for Hudson.

It makes a lot of sense why Kate Hudson’s performance would affect Gwyneth Paltrow. The Goop founder also ventured into music when she starred in Country Strong, as well as her unforgettable guest appearances on Glee. With firsthand experience in stepping into a musical role later in her career herself, maybe Paltrow could recognize the vulnerability and emotions that come from not only playing a musical figure, but portraying a character’s musical talent as well.

Gwyneth Paltrow wasn’t the only admirer of Kate Hudson’s performance. Hugh Jackman congratulated his co-star on social media for her Golden Globe nomination despite not being recognized himself. By saying her nomination was “richly deserved,” he had no problems acknowledging his co-star’s hardworking talent and success.

Critics who saw Song Sung Blue also had high praises for the Running Point actress’ performance, calling her “absolutely extraordinary” and a “revelation” that can’t be resisted. With Hudson clearly being a standout star in the musical-drama, it’s no wonder the Golden Globes couldn’t ignore her performance. If the Raising Helen actress gets nominated at the 98th Oscars, it’ll be her first since 2001’s Almost Famous. I’m sure Gwyneth Paltrow will be cheering her on when that moment comes.

Kate Hudson’s performance in Song Sung Blue truly couldn’t escape the eyes of Gwyneth Paltrow. Undoubtedly, the talented actress left a lasting impression on critics and fellow celebs like the Marty Supreme actress. Now, this makes me want to run off and get a ticket myself. From Kirsten Dunst to Emma Stone to Zendaya, the Spider-Man movies have featured a rather terrific run of actresses playing the lead female role… but the casting process for those kinds of parts are always extensive, and it creates all kinds of “what if” scenarios. For example, what would have happened if Kate Hudson had played Mary Jane in the Sam Raimi-directed films? It easily could have happened… had the actress not made the call to turn the job down.

Hudson, who is currently promoting her new film Song Sung Blue, recently made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, and she was asked directly by host Andy Cohen about her past connection to everyone’s favorite neighborhood superhero. A fan submitted a question asking if she had at one point turned down the role of Mary Jane, and in confirming the story, the actress explained why she doesn’t have any regrets about it. Said Hudson,

Directed by Shekhar Kapur, The Four Feathers was a historical drama that came out the same year as Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man (the year 2002), and it probably goes without saying that the film didn’t quite make the same kind of pop culture impact that the superhero movie did. That being said, Hudson is indeed part of a wonderful ensemble in the movie, which includes not only the mentioned Heath Ledger, but also Djimon Hounsou, Wes Bentley and Michael Sheen.

In the 20-plus years since then, Kate Hudson has not yet gotten her superhero movie opportunity – though she has been a part of a couple of franchise films, including Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and doing a voice in Kung Fu Panda 3. Perhaps it’s not too late to cast Kate Hudson for a cameo in the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse? It could be a fun idea to include for die hard fans akin to having Channing Tatum finally getting the chance to play the role of Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine. The animated sequel isn’t arriving until June 2027, so one would think that there could be time for the production to perhaps squeeze her in, and it would be cool for her to have the experience that she once turned down.

Critics have seen the movie ahead of its Christmas Day release, and they mostly agree it’s a little hokey, a little heartbreaking but irresistible nonetheless.

Awards Season has officially begun, to the joy of cinephiles and TV addicts alike. Both of those communities paid attention when the 2026 Golden Globe nominations were announced yesterday, honoring the industry's best contributions. That includes Kate Hudson, who got a nom for her role in the upcoming musical biopic Song Sung Blue. And despite not getting similarly honored, her co-star Hugh Jackman took the time to celebrate this accomplishment for the Almost Famous star.

The Song Sung Blue trailer showed Jackman and Hudson's excellent chemistry, as well as the musical numbers they recorded together on the project. Anticipation for the project will likely increase with news that the Nine actress was nominated for Best Female Actor — Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy at the forthcoming Globes. Jackman took to Instagram to celebrate this accomplishment, posting:

Rather than focused on Neil Diamond himself, Song Sung Blue is a biopic about a cover band that formed called Lightning & Thunder. Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman lead a killer cast of actors, which also includes names like The Sopranos' Michael Imperioli, Mustafa Shakir, as well as Broadway stars Beth Malone and Sean Allan Krill. There's plenty of musical talent involved, so it should be fun to see the musical numbers that will be included throughout its 132-minute runtime.

In many ways Song Sung Blue feels like a return to form for Kate Hudson. Her role in Almost Famous was also about the music industry, albeit from a different lens. And after making a splash singing and dancing in Nine, it's exciting that she'll be able to belt out some tunes in the upcoming movie. Clearly critics are happy with this performance, as she's gotten a Golden Globe nomination prior to the movie even getting its wide theatrical release.

It certainly seems like Hudson and Jackman enjoyed their time together and had great chemistry, which I assume will take center stage as the pair of stars promote the movie. We'll just have to wait and see if more Awards Season nods are coming.

Song Sung Blue hits theaters December 25th as part of the 2025 movie release list. While fan wait to see if Hugh Jackman will appear in upcoming Marvel movies, this will be sure to satiate fans ready to see the Aussie back on the big screen.

There's nothing like the glitz and glamour of the red carpet, a room full of celebs hobknobbing with people who paid five figures to be there, and hours of laugh-and-tear-inducing speeches (that inevitably get played off by music) when they go long. Actor Hugh Jackman is an A-list celebrity, one whose personal and professional life is constantly making headlines. Back in 2023 Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness announced their separation, shocking the public given their decades together. Their divorce proceedings also turned heads, as did his relationship with Music Man co-star Sutton Foster. While the pair recently made their first appearance as a couple, the X-Men star got dapper and posed on the carpet with... Kate Hudson? Let's break it all down.

Plenty of eyes have been on Jackman's new relationship, partly thanks to rumors he and Sutton Foster were having an affair while working on Broadway together. As such, I have to assume that any public appearances they do together will promptly go viral. Looking dapper, Mr. Jackman. The comments section is filled with folks compliment his fit, and his apparent ability to age in slow motion. I mean, we all saw his absurd abs in Deadpool & Wolverine. Unfortunately for folks who are curious about his relationship, he didn't end up attending the star-studded event with Sutton Foster.

Instead, he actually posed on the carpet with none other than Kate Hudson. The Song Sung Blue trailer showed their chemistry in the forthcoming musical drama, so it actually makes sense that they'd pose together at the Governors Awards. Check them out below:

Well, it certainly seems like this pair of actors enjoyed their time working together. They both look happy to see each other again, and are rocking some glamorous looks. And after seeing the above image I'm hyped for them to go on the press tour for the upcoming musical biopic. With Song Sung Blue arriving next month, that process should presumably begin any moment.

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster didn't attend the Governors Awards together, they still continue to make headlines on a regular basis. Details about their relationship are slowly trickling out, with fans following closely thanks to the ongoing drama with his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness. For instance, she made viral comments about being devastated over their breakup. But that didn't stop Foster from moving in with Jackman in the home that was purchased by the former couple.

Aside from Song Sung Blue, fans are hoping to see Jackman appear in upcoming Marvel movies, specifically the next two Avengers flicks. He hasn't been confirmed yet, so we're going to keep crossing our fingers.

On Saturday morning, it was revealed that Oscar-winner Diane Keaton had died at the age of 79. The news about the actress who starred in massive movies like Annie Hall and First Wives Club has led to an outpouring of tributes from Hollywood actors who loved her. Many of them, including Bett Midler, Steve Martin and more, had their own experiences working with her on the set of her iconic movies and called her a personal friend.

We’ll start with Bette Midler, who starred with Keaton in The First Wives Club back in 1996. She was quick to go on Instagram to say this:

Now, the third part of the trio, Goldie Hawn, has yet to comment on the loss at the time of this article’s publication, but her daughter Kate Hudson found the perfect scene of Keaton’s to celebrate the kind of presence she brought to the screen from The First Wives Club. Check it out:

The First Wives Club is such a quotable movie, and we’ll never forget Diane Keaton’s performance in it.

Another one of Keaton’s famed co-stars is Steve Martin, whom she was in the Father of the Bride movies with, and he paid tribute to her in a fittingly funny way. Here’s what he wrote shortly after news of her passing:

Keaton and Martin reunited with their Father of the Bride cast back in 2020 for charity, and seemed to be close. Martin found a lighter way to remember the talented actress, as we’d expect from the comedian.

Along with being in a lot of rom-coms and becoming a great director while still being an actor, Keaton played a lot of mom roles over the years, including in 2007’s Because I Said So with Mandy Moore. The This Is Us actress also penned a tribute to the late star, writing on Instagram:

Keaton is survived by her children, Duke and Dexter, whom she adopted in her 50s. The actress never married. Keaton's The Book Club co-star Jane Fonda also took to Instagram to say this:

It's been nearly a decade since Hugh Jackman last dropped a musically powered movie around the holidays. The Greatest Showman became a massive hit, and now we'll see if lightning can strike twice. The trailer for the new film Song Sung Blue is here, and fans of Jackman, or Neil Diamond, are likely to get excited.

Song Sung Blue stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson as Mike and Claire Sardina, a couple who come together due to a love of performing and of Neil Diamond. They form the Diamond tribute act Lightning & Thunder, and fall in love in the process. The film is based on a 2008 documentary of the same name, which followed the real couple, who became local superstars through their act.

Based on the first glance, it looks like Song Sung Blue is going to have a lot that movie fans are going to be looking for this holiday season. Jackman and Hudson look great together. The romance, which is the true focus of the film, is sure to have some difficulties, but this looks like just the heartwarming story people like to see at Christmas.

Jackman looks pretty remarkable as a "not Neil Diamond impersonator." The trailer makes it clear the act is meant as an interpretation of music, not an impersonation. Still, the resemblence is good enough to the '70s era icon. He still look enough like the Hugh Jackman we know, but there's enough of a transformation that the role still required Jackman's tradtional post-role shave.

Song Sung Blue Has A Solid Movie Music Pedigree

Song Sung Blue comes from Craig Brewer, who both wrote and directed the film. Brewer has a history with productions that bring drama and music together. He previously helmed Hustle & Flow as well as the remake of Footloose and several episodes of the series Empire.

And then of course there's the stars themselves. Hugh Jackman has been performing musically for longer than he's been acting on screen. He's currently working through dates of a one man show at Radio City Music Hall. That show will reach its end before Song Sung Blue hits theaters, but i can imagine that if and when Jackman returns to the stage, some Neil Diamond music might be part of the show.

Kate Hudson is no musical newcomer either. Hudson may still be known primarily as an actress but she's also got a solid second career as a singer. She released her first solo album, Glorious in 2024. And of course she's a star in Almost Famous, one of the greatest music movies of all time.

As somebody whose Neil Diamond knowledge also largely starts and ends with "Sweet Caroline," I'm also looking forward to the soundtrack, which is sure to be filled with plenty of great music. If the movie has a big enough impact, we could certainly see a larger resurgence of Diamond as people discover, or rediscover, his music through the film.

Netflix’s 2025 schedule has ushered in a few new TV shows that have managed to strike a chord with viewers. The Kate Hudson-led sports comedy series Running Point is such a production to have made a splash. It didn’t take too long for the show to land a Season 2 renewal after its premiere this past February. Now, Hudson herself has revealed that the new season is officially in production, and she confirmed that with a sweet selfie. In doing so, she actually hit upon one thing I’d like to see more from the show down the road.

Kate Hudson Shares A Photo To Celebrate The Start Of Production On Running Point Season 2

The Almost Famous icon took to Instagram to share the update on the second season of her Netflix show. Of course, the behind-the-scenes photo doesn’t give away any major teases for what’s to come in the upcoming episodes. However, what it does show is Kate Hudson smiling alongside her co-stars, including Brenda Song (Ali Lee), Justin Theroux (Cam Gordon), Scott MacArthur (Ness Gordon), Drew Tarver (Sandy Gordon) and Fabrizio Guido (Jackie Moreno). For those who aren’t in the know, the 2025 TV schedule offering Running Point centers around the Gordon family, who run the once-storied Los Angeles Waves basketball team. Their world is shaken up, however, when oldest sibling, Cam (the team’s president) must step down to undergo drug rehabilitation. With that, former party girl Isla takes the reins and must deal with the professional and interpersonal challenges that come with the job (including the revelation that she and her siblings have a half brother).

When it comes to Kate Hudson’s pic, the members of RP’s ensemble look happy to be back together again. This is a really lovely photo, and it’s a great way to signify that work has officially begun on Season 2. Honestly, the only thing that would’ve made the pic even better would’ve been the presence of other cast members Toby Sandeman (Marcus Winfield), Chet Hanks (Travis Bugg) and Jay Ellis (Jay Brown). Regardless of any missing stars, there’s something comforting about seeing the cast in the same room once more.

That exact point actually ties into something that I really wanted more of during Season 1 of the sports show, which counts Mindy Kaling and Ike Barinholtz amongst its co-creators. Let’s talk that out, shall we?

What Do I Want To See More Of In Running Point Season 2?

My one hope for RP’s upcoming season is actually quite simple. What I’m hoping for is even more scenes in which the main cast is together, specifically those who play the Gordon siblings. Early on Season 1, viewers get to see Isla, Ness, Sandy and Cam together for a few scenes. The Gordons’ legal meeting with their illegitimate brother, Jackie, is such an example. However, as the season goes on, it feels like viewers only get to see a couple of the siblings together at a given time, except for very rare occasions.

It’s really a shame, given that the actors play off each other well and, when they do share scenes, they’re very entertaining. For example, in Running Point’s Season 1 finale, the cast shines during the scene that sees Isla, Sandy and Ness find Jackie at a restaurant, where he’s celebrating his late mother’s birthday. I also personally enjoyed watching Jackie, Isla, Sandy and Ness hanging out after the latter three’s pool fight during the fifth episode. So, if I were among the ranks of Running Point’s writers and producers, I’d craft more scenes that allow that fun ensemble to chop it up more as a group. Of course, other characters like Ali and Cam.

Of course, there are plenty of other developments that would be great to see in Season 2. For example, it would be amazing to see the LA Waves win a championship in a highly contested game. What I also need to see is the reactions that Sandy, Ness and Jackie are going to have when they realize that Cam has returned from rehab to take back his job.

Running Point received solid reviews from critics, and I’m hopeful that Season 2 is just as delightful. Also, until I have reason to doubt the possibility, I’ll remain confident that the main cast will have more group scenes together. Maybe Kate Hudson’s selfie is an indicator of just that. That speculation aside, though, fans wait for the new episodes, they can grab a Netflix subscription and stream the first ten installments now.

At some point or another, everyone needs a vacation, and that includes an actor like Kate Hudson. It goes without saying that film sets can be pretty grueling. And actors have long days, hundreds of takes and thousands of lines to memorize. So I was happy to see that Hudson decided to get in some downtime before starting production on Season 2 of her Netflix comedy, Running Point. Joining Hudson for some R&R were none other than her mother, Goldie Hawn, and friend Dakota Johnson, and I wish I could have been a fly on the wall.

The three movie stars recently all hung out together while on vacation in beautiful Colorado (and I have to assume my non-existent invite got lost in the mail). In a slideshow posted to Instagram by the Bride Wars actress, Hudson, her mother Goldie Hawn, and Johnson can be seen cozied up together, with Hudson’s daughter snuggled in the Materialist’s stars lap. The lighting is dim, and everyone is smiling. I can just imagine the girl talk between these three is potentially the best ever. I’m so glad the newly single Johnson decided to join this family vacay, after her split from fiancé, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The two officially called it quits after 8 years together on and off, and I can't imagine a better way to relax now than with a mountain escape with friends.

Personally, I'd love to know what Dakota Johnson thinks about the viral Coldplay concert cheating scandal,. If that did come up during the trip, though, I'd imagine the famous mother daughter duo would be air-tight confidants.

In short, though, Kate Hudson's photos paint a picture of a truly epic trip. The Instagram post shows Hudson riding on a mountain bike, traveling by horseback and soaking up the sun among stunning fields of wildflowers and the mountainscape. They say the secret to remaining young is self-care and staying active and, if that’s the case, the How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days star might live forever.

Also, if Dakota Johnson seems like a random addition to this excursion, think again. The Fifty Shades Of Grey actress, similar to Hudson, comes from a long dynasty of actors. Both Johnson’s mother, Melanie Griffith, and Goldie Hawn were Hollywood "It Girls" between the ‘70s and ‘90s, with big movies such Working Girl and Private Benjamin, respectively. So it checks out that their wildly successful daughters would be good friends.

While I know they’re on vacation, I secretly hope they talked a little shop anyways. The Almost Famous actress is rom-com royalty, and I need her and Johnson to exchange notes now that the latter has the 2025 movie release Splitsville on the horizon.

Of course, I'm probably getting too ahead of myself when it comes to speculating about what Kate Hudson and Dakota Johnson talked about while on vacation with Goldie Hawn. What matters most is whether the group had a fun and safe time. I may or may not be feeling a touch of FOMO after seeing Hudson's photos but, quite frankly, I love to see a celebrity friendship like this one.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of the most fun rom-coms because of the relationships Kate Hudson’s character, Andie, holds. Outside of her love interest, Matthew McConaughey’s Benjamin, is her ride or die BFF, Kathryn Hahn’s Michelle. How Hahn landed the 2003 rom-com is pure chaotic gold. Apparently, the MCU star’s audition was completely memorable and involved picking up a call while reading with Hudson.

With Hudson and Hahn both having 2025 TV guide hits in Running Point (which received a quick renewal) and The Studio (also greenlit for S2), they reunited to chat for Variety’s Actors on Actors. To start, the old pals quickly noted how long it had been since they’d seen each other, which led them to how they met on the early aughts flick. Hudson asked if Hahn remembered her highly memorable first audition for HTLAGITD, and the 51-year-old recounted the mess that led to her arriving late and overheated. According to Hahn:

This is enough to make me break into a sweat myself just thinking about facing such stress before meeting modern-day Hollywood royalty and auditioning for her. I don’t know if I would’ve made it this far, but I’m not Kathryn Hahn. I’m not surprised to hear that Hudson was nothing but friendly to her in this time of need.

Hudson also noted that Hahn was sporting what seemed to be a comically large bag in the midst of blurting out excuses, and the film's star was amusingly smitten. As she put it:

The frazzled auditionee hit all the right notes, apparently. All of it feels cinematic in its own right. I can only imagine getting a curveball like this amid a sea of on-time potentials and being swept up in the wave of the parking lot drama.

After the two debated which scene they were doing, the film’s star then revealed Hahn’s ruckus raged on with her phone ringing. And on top of that, the newcomer answered the call!

While most would be mortified, the Bad Moms alum answered it instead (but did tell the person she was auditioning). Absolute star power behavior, IMO. And Hudson seemingly agreed because not only did she believe she found one of Andie Anderson’s besties but one of her own, too.

The then ruffian explained who was on the infamous call, how she still reminds him of it and how proud he is to have been a part of the big day, saying:

I’m beyond thrilled to have that scoop of who called and how it continues to live in infamy between the trio.

In addition to the rollercoaster reading, the Almost Famous star also brought up that she was a bit late. Hahn agreed and marveled at the thought of how she gets hired for any job. That’s when her long-time friend brought up a silver lining about being late, stating:

The fun factoid brought to the conversation is A+ best friend material. It also stands entirely true of this wild Hollywood tale, I’m sure I won’t forget it either.

Every time these two get together, one thing is for sure: it’s a great time. Celebrities: they’re just like us. Only occasionally, and in an extremely limited fashion, but still. Not even Dwayne Johnson, who recently celebrated his 53rd birthday could escape the draw of sharing with followers his “stripper name,” as determined by the highly scientific process of combining the color of his undergarments with the last thing the WWE icon ate. And in return, fans were quick to share their own pole-dancing identities.

Johnson took to Instagram to share a video first posted by Scott Starbuck, in which the challenge (to put it lightly) to create one’s stripper persona was presented. Considering how many calories The Rock is known to consume on a daily basis, the potential was high for the athlete to boast a truly bonkers surname for his dancer, but he chose to keep it simple…for the ladies, of course. As he put it in the post’s caption:

“Black Beef” sounds less like a musclebound stripper and more like a MAD Magazine parody of a Marvel movie. (But definitely not a parody of Johnson's not-quite-successful DC outing Black Adam.)

So many versions of "Grey __" to choose from, and nearly all of them sound like the least appealing moniker for someone to use in any branching arm of the entertainment industry, from strippers to celebrity chefs.

I mean, any reference to tuna pasta made inside of a gentleman's club would probably make my stomach churn, even if the stripper being introduced was the most gorgeous specimen imaginable. But for the sake of comedy, it's a win.

Though fans likely won't catch any weekend performances from Black Beef anytime soon, and will be waiting a few more months to see him as MMA legend Mark Kerr, Dwayne Johnson himself has been all over the 2025 TV schedule via WWE events, an American Idol appearance on Disney Night, and the streaming documentary Number One on the Call Sheet.

Most people know Kate Hudson from rom-coms like How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and Fool’s Gold (both of which she stars opposite Matthew McConaughey). The Glass Onion actress is actually a multifaceted talent, proving all the “nepo-baby” comments wrong. In addition to acting, she is also a singer-songwriter, and has used her vocal skills for iconic movies like her breakout film, Almost Famous. So, imagine how silly she must have felt dropping the ball while trying to identify the song she sings in the movie.

This year Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous celebrates 25 years since its release. In a notable scene from the 1970s coming-of-age film, Hudson sang Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer,” convincing a whole tour bus of rock stars to join in. Nowadays, she might not be able to join in herself. Well, that’s unfortunate, but it was 25 years ago, so I’ll cut her some slack. As the American Idol winner says, sometimes she doesn’t even recognize her own songs.

Not all was lost though. The Running Point actress was easily able to identify Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” which she iconically sings in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. That movie is a bit more recent than Almost Famous, but not recent enough to be passed over for potential a sequel reboot. McConaughey and Hudson are definitely one of the epic rom-com duos I can’t get enough of, so I fully support this.

Though perhaps the Something Borrowed actress is taking some time to focus on her music. Her musical moments in movies don’t always do her justice. She’s got quite the voice, something people tend to forget. Not me though. Her stint on Glee as Rachel’s sexy, intimidating NYADA dance professor was iconic, and boy did she showcase her vocal range.

She even put out her first studio album Glorious last year. The Deepwater Horizon star performed a single dedicated to her mother, Overboard actress Goldie Hawn, during The Voice finale. During Hudson’s recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Voice coach talked to her guest all about her songwriting process, saying she loved the track “Not Easy To Know.” Listen, Kate Hudson’s got a set of pipes on her. But as with any artist, I hope for her sake the “Since You’ve Been Gone” singer never covers it in Kellyoke. She’s just too good.

I personally think the Mother’s Day actress deserves a second go at “Throw Me A Line,” so I hope to see her back on The Kelly Clarkson Show real soon. And now that it’s on my mind, I would love to see the two female singers do some Kellyoke together. Maybe a mash-up of “You’re So Vain” and “Mr. Know It All”? Or a new rendition of "Tiny Dancer"? I’ll leave it to the professionals to figure that out.

Now, that’s a team! Kate Hudson was in the middle of sharing her thoughts when she was surprised to realize her side boob-revealing black gown seemed to shift out of place in an inopportune area. Justin Theroux, who plays her older brother on Running Point, was fortunately “running point” on his own and lent a hand in trying to fix her dress. That's a real brother figure right there.

Brenda Song, who plays Isla’s best friend and assistant, was also quick to shield Kate Hudson. She immediately got up from her chair and spread her arms wide to block anyone from seeing the actress’s wardrobe mishap.

The Raising Helen actress took the unfortunate incident with grace, laughing through the whole thing and jokingly saying.

In the second video, Kate Hudson’s dress refused to cooperate again in the same place. Justin Theroux continued to be her hero and tried to fix the dress again. I feel like if I was the Oscar winner, I’d be afraid to move for the rest of the panel if my dress continued to come apart. So, I give the great rom-com actress a lot of credit for keeping it together while all of the chaos was happening. It helps to have thoughtful co-stars by your side.

Wardrobe mishaps are sadly known to happen to celebrities during public events. But, actresses deserve their props when they take the unlucky moment in stride. For example, Kelly Clarkson had a wardrobe malfunction while performing, but she still returned to the stage to continue singing the show’s set list. Miley Cyrus handled her wardrobe mishap like a rock star by walking off-stage to put on a blazer to cover her exposed top.

Even Taylor Swift can turn her wardrobe misfortune into a cute fan interaction, telling everyone to “talk amongst yourselves” while fixing her dress. It proves that an embarrassing moment will only feel like the end of the world if we allow it to be so, but it doesn't have to be.

Kate Hudson is incredibly lucky to have such supportive co-stars from her Running Point show there to rescue her from a difficult gown. Their quick thinking turned a potential fashion disaster into a moment of love and friendship.

That’s amazing news that Kate Hudson will continue to slay on Netflix! There are so many reasons why Running Point would be guaranteed a Netflix renewal. Not only is it easy for viewers to fall for Mindy Kaling’s hilarious writing and its talented cast, but it’s currently #1 on the Top Ten list of Netflix shows. Plus, it has some very sweet Rotten Tomatoes scores, with a 78% from critics and 82% from audiences. With numbers like that, Netflix cannot let this opportunity for renewal slip by.

It can be frustrating waiting around for your favorite Netflix Original to get the renewal greenlight. History from the streamer shows that it can take months to receive good news. For instance, The Lincoln Lawyer finally got renewed for season 4 after three months of waiting. There was also A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, which premiered in August and was renewed for Season 2 in November. And Wednesday didn’t get renewed for its second season until two months after its premiere. This is surprising considering that the supernatural comedy was the second most-watched Netflix show three weeks after its release. I’m still waiting to find out if Heartstopper will get a season four release.

Many factors go into a Netflix show being renewed. It can be based on the combined factors of a high completion rate, audience demand and exceptional reviews. If a Netflix Original can achieve impressive numbers, the streamer will find the TV show worth the investment. Plenty of recent shows have gotten instant renewal, like Nobody Wants This announcing its renewal for Season 2 a couple of weeks after its premiere. It took about the same amount of time for Avatar: The Last Airbender to get quickly renewed for Seasons 2 and 3. You have to be very lucky if your favorite show gives you an answer right away for its return.

It’s incredibly fortunate for Kate Hudson’s Running Point to escape the curse of a long renewal wait. I mean, with the Oscar winner starring in a Mindy Kaling series, you can’t lose. With the sports-comedy show getting a second season, viewers will continue to see the female president of a basketball team prove she’s got what it takes in the business world. We already know that Home Alone 2 is one of Macaulay Culkin’s best movies, along with Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. After all, the sequel took everything up a notch with its extravagant New York City setting, and the pranks against the burglars turned “up to eleven,” so to speak. But, there’s an Easter egg to the Home Alone sequel involving Kate Hudson you never would have known if the actress didn’t tell you the story herself.

But on the set of CBS Mornings, Kate Hudson revealed to her Running Point co-star Brenda Song that she actually took part in her fiancée’s movie…or at least her voice did:

But the movies where Hudson showed she had pipes was in the musical Nine and Sia’s Music where she proved she had extraordinary musical talent.

The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star must have gotten her vocal talent from her parents as her father, Bill Hudson, was a vocalist for The Hudson Brothers. Her mother Goldie Hawn also had a self-titled album in 1972 and sang in projects like Woody Allen’s Everyone Says I Love You. But now we know Home Alone 2 was where Hudson really made her singing debut in movies.

Kate Hudson may have made a standout acting career starring in rom-coms, but her career came full circle when she decided to lean into music. After Cameron Crowe recognized the music fan in Hudson when he cast her for Almost Famous and having sung onstage with John Mayer and Seal in 2016, it was time for the Bride Wars actress to make her own album.

Last year, Hudson got together with HK Music and Virgin Music Group for her debut album, Glorious. The studio album was a perfect blend of classic rock and pop melodies that showed off the singer/actress’s range and talent.

There are plenty of great sports movies available to stream on Netflix right now, but what about sports comedy series? Mindy Kaling is one of the creators of the new Netflix show Running Point, which just hit the 2025 TV schedule. Critics had the chance to screen the series — which stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, who unexpectedly is made president of her family’s basketball team — and the reviews are mixed.

Running Point — streaming now with a Netflix subscription — boasts a fun cast that, in addition to Kate Hudson, includes Drew Tarver (The Other Two), Scott MacArthur (The Mick) and Justin Theroux. However, Kristen Baldwin of EW says their collective comedic talents are wasted on uninspired writing and unlikeable characters. She gives the series a C-, writing:

Hanna Ines Flint of IGN agrees this story inspired by (and executive produced by) the L.A. Lakers’ Jeanie Buss is an unremarkable addition to the sports comedy genre with a hackneyed take on women breaking the glass ceiling. The critic rates it a “Mediocre” 5 out of 10 and says:

Not all critics were calling fouls on the basketball comedy. Alison Herman of Variety says the interesting premise and charismatic cast should be enough to earn Running Point a second season and the chance to further develop its characters and go deeper into the family’s complicated dynamic. Herman writes:

Leah Marilla Thomas of AV Club also hopes to see Running Point renewed after being pleased overall with the result, especially the thrilling finale. Thomas gives the series a grade of B+, calling Kate Hudson “winning” and “hilarious” in this smart sports sitcom. The critic continues:

Ben Travers of IndieWire, however, connects more with the first critics, calling it an “office comedy built with the general blandness of most broadcast TV.” With some swearing, of course. It also wastes Kate Hudson’s talent, Travers says, as he gives it a C- and writes:

Many critics compared Running Point as something like Succession meets Ted Lasso, so if any part of this sounds like a series you want to check out, the entire 10-episode first season is available to stream now on Netflix.

Perhaps with the movie becoming available with a Netflix subscription more people will see it and then we can get to work on that sequel the world deserves.

Running Point - February 27 (Netflix)

Kate Hudson takes her first leading role in a TV series in Running Point. The comedy sees Hudson as an underachieving daughter who finds herself taking over as President of her family's professional basketball team.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place - February 28 (Disney+)

Wizards of Waverly Place was one of the more popular Disney Channel original series during the golden age of the channel’s original content. Old fans and new fans alike will get the next 12 episodes of the sequel series Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, executive-produced by Selena Gomez.

97th Oscars - March 2 (Hulu)

The Academy Awards are the biggest night of the year for Hollywood, but actually celebrating movies has been difficult for the last few years if you don’t have traditional TV options. For the first time, the Oscars will be streamed live, as long as you have a Hulu subscription.

Jurassic World: Dominion (Extended Version) - March 2 (Peacock)

Jurassic World: Rebirth is likely to be one of the biggest movies on the 2025 movie schedule, so now is as good a time as any to catch up on the franchise. Jurassic World: Dominion hasn’t been available on Universal’s own platform for a while but this week your Peacock subscription will give you access to both the theatrical and the extended edition of the film.

Next week will be one of the biggest weeks streaming has seen in a while, with the release of Daredevil: Born Again. If you don’t have a Disney+ subscription now, it might be worth getting it ready.

It’s no wonder The Devil Wears Prada has a sequel in development. It’s one of the best movies of the 2000s, between all its quotable lines, Meryl Streep’s unforgettable performance as fictional fashion magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, and such. Also, I know I can’t imagine anyone else playing the role of Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs, who is also incredible in the 2006 comedy. However, did you know she got the role after multiple other big names rejected offers?

Previously, Anne Hathaway shared that she was actually ninth in line to star in The Devil Wears Prada, and we know Rachel McAdams was the initial first pick. Now, another Hollywood actress has revealed that she was up for the role too.

Kate Hudson Regrets Saying No To The Devil Wears Prada

Kate Hudson, who became popular in the early 2000s for starring in Almost Famous and How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days, recently said she was up for The Devil Wears Prada, but passed on the role. As she told Capital FM:

Kate Hudson is currently promoting her upcoming Netflix series, Running Point. When she was asked about the role that got away, she name-dropped The Devil Wears Prada. It’s already been out there that she was considered, but we didn’t know why things didn’t work out for the actress. However, she revealed the why, explaining:

Now, I can totally see Kate Hudson in The Devil Wears Prada. She would have been a good fit for Andy, but I do think Anne Hathaway has more of a plucked-from-nowhere vibe that Hudson just doesn’t have as the daughter of Goldie Hawn.

Anyway, if she had made time for the role, she would have been able to work with Meryl Streep along with the rest of the talented The Devil Wears Prada cast. We don’t blame her for being bummed to this day.

But, Rachel McAdams Apparently Said No To The Same Movie Multiple Times

Oddly enough, Rachel McAdams not only passed on The Devil Wears Prada, but she allegedly did so three times! When director David Frankel spoke to Entertainment Weekly back in 2021 about the process of casting Anne Hathaway, he said this:

Now, we don’t know what McAdams’ reasons were. At the time she was definitely very much in demand, having done both Mean Girls and The Notebook in 2004. We have to wonder if she regrets not taking the role either after seeing it?

The other names that reportedly were under consideration were Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Kirsten Dunst. Talk about an A-list...

Kate Hudson and Mindy Kaling have a show that’s set to come out soon on Netflix’s 2025 release schedule, and they’re going for the gold both literally and figuratively speaking. I say that because as they celebrated their new sports comedy, Running Point, both women wore gorgeous gold gowns that made them look like goddesses. Now, I’m hoping this becomes a big trend, because I think we all need some sparkle like this in our lives.

In the lead-up to folks being able to stream Running Point with a Netflix subscription on February 27, the cast gathered at The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood for the premiere. This included the series’ co-creator, Mindy Kaling, and the show’s star, Kate Hudson. While both wore shining, shimmering gold gowns, they had totally different takes, as you can see below:

Hudson was wearing a champagne satin dress by Roberto Cavalli, per InStyle. It featured thigh-high slits on both legs and a plunging neckline. The gold details around her chest plus the slits, make the look unique as it’s both chic and edgy. She paired the floor-length dress with a simple necklace and wore her hair straight and tucked behind her ears.

Meanwhile, Kaling shimmered in a darker gold gown. The garment is Rahul Mishra Couture, and the designer noted that it’s a hand-embroidered piece called the “‘Resurgence’ gilded gown.” If you want to talk about lavish, this dress is it. The designer explained in his post that it took “1600 hours” to make it, and it “features traditional Indian embroidery surfaces adorned with glass bugle beads, mother of pearl, metallic sequins and dangling brass leaves to articulate the designer’s idea of nature’s resurgence from a dark time.”

Gold seems to be Kaling’s color too, seeing as she wore it when she and Hudson announced some of the 2025 Golden Globe winners last month.

Overall, both women absolutely slayed in these goddess-like looks, and they were perfect for celebrating their show Running Point – which is a comedy about a basketball team that’s trying to have another winning season. Now, I’m hoping this becomes a bigger trend, and it seems to be considering The Mindy Project star has worn the color twice recently, and she and Hudson both donned it to the premiere of their show.

So, with that in mind, if you are looking to give gold and Running Point, take some inspo from these women and these dress options below:

Now, while I want gold to be the next big fashion trend, I’d also love to see Running Point be a big hit too. The series on the 2025 TV schedule is a sports comedy about a woman who takes over the family business – and that business happens to be a professional basketball team. Alongside Hudson, the series also stars Brenda Song, Max Greenfield, Scott MacArthur, Drew Tarver and more. So, it seems like comedy gold in the making, and maybe it will become one of Netflix’s most binge-able shows.

If Kate Hudson and Mindy Kaling’s looks are any sign, I’d say that dream is certainly possible, because it seems like they’re going for the gold.

Actors playing multiple roles in entertainment go back to the dawn of drama. Even the ancient Greeks did it. This is certainly true of the film era, where actors have been playing roles all the way back to the beginning. Sometimes it's as simple as playing twins, like Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin in Big Business, and sometimes it's more complex, like the great Peter Sellers playing three very different roles in Dr, Strangelove. In honor of those actors, here are some of our favorite examples of actors playing multiple roles in movies.

Peter Sellers - Dr. Strangelove

No list like this would be complete without the great Peter Sellers in his three fantastic performances in Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Sellers plays the resourceful Captain Mandrake, the bumbling President of the United States, and the completely over-the-top Dr. Strangelove in the movie. Sellers was also supposed to play the character Major Kong, but injured himself on set and the the role went to Slim Pickens instead.

Kate Hudson - Alex & Emma

Films with stories within stories are often a good place to find actors playing multiple roles, as is the case with Kate Hudson in Alex & Emma. In the "real" story, Hudson plays Emma, a stenographer helping Alex (Luke Wilson) complete his novel. As Alex and Emma work on the story, viewers are taken inside the story of a novel where both Wilson and Hudson play characters in the novel. Hudson, in fact, plays four different versions of a nanny in the book.

Michael J. Fox - Back To The Future Part II

While nothing will ever live up to the original Back To The Future, Back To The Future Part II is still pretty fun. One of the things that make it so is Michael J. Fox playing Marty (of course), and his son Marty, Jr., and his daughter Marlene in the movie. Thomas F. Wilson, who plays Biff Tannen, also plays multiple roles in the movie as the various members of the Tannen family.

Jodie Comer - Free Guy

This one is a little bit of a fudge, because in Free Guy, Jodie Comer is playing her character and her character's avatar. So in some ways they are kind of, sort of the same character. Still, she plays the roles different and for that reason, she deserves to be on this list.

Rory Kinnear - Men

Men is an odd movie, but in a good way. Rory Kinnear is what makes it unique. On the surface, Kinnear plays the owner of an inn in a small town, but he also plays most of the rest of the men in the town, all of whom are pretty odd characters.

Lupita Nyong'o - Us

Jordan Peele's horror classic Us features all of the cast members playing both their main character and "Tethered" character with that excellent cast being led by Lupita Nyong'o, who plays Addy and Red. It would be fair to put any of the cast members on this list though, about 20 in total, but we don't want to make this whole list about Us, despite how great it is.

Paul Dano - There Will Be Blood

It'll come as no surprise that a few entries on this list are actors playing identical twins in a movie. We had to include Paul Dano as both Paul and Eli Sunday in There Will Be Blood because Dano's performance, especially as the preacher Eli, is transcendent. The final scene between Eli and Daniel (Daniel Day-Lewis) is one of the most intense scenes ever to appear in a film.

Scarlett Johansson - Astroid City

Director Wes Anderson's Astroid City has a movie within a movie telling the story of the movie. As such, and as you'd probably expect, there are a few actors playing both their "real life" characters and the actors playing them in the movie inside the movie. Scarlett Johansson plays both Midge Campbell and the actor playing Midege, Mercedes. Jason Schwartzman also plays two roles, as do Matt Dillon, Maya Hawke, and others.

George Burns - Oh, God! You Devil

The legendary George Burns played God in not one, but three movies in the Oh God series. In the third installment, he added another character, the Devil. The best scene in the movie comes when God and the Devil play a game of poker for the soul of Bobby Shelton, played by Ted Wass.

Christian Bale - The Prestige

The Prestige is a movie that gets a little lost in director Christopher Nolan's fimography, though, like most of his movies, it's excellent. Nolan teamed up with Christian Bale again on the heels of Batman Begins for this movie about rival magicians. Bale plays Alfred Borden and Borden's assistant, Fallon, who are living with a secret that we'll keep in case you haven't seen the movie.

Mel Brooks - History of the World, Part I

Mel Brooks is a one-man force of nature. Not only did he write, direct, and str in most of his movies, but he usually played multiple roles as well. One of the best examples was in History of the World, Part I, where he plays four characters, one in each segment of the film.

Based on the true story of the mobsters who gained fame in the mid-'60s as the owners of a popular nightclub frequented by celebrities in the "Swinging London" era.

Hilary Duff - The Lizzie McGuire Movie

Okay, we'll admit the plot of The Lizzie McGuire Movie is pretty silly. In it, Lizzie, played by Hilary Duff, of course, travels to Rome on a school trip and ends up in a weird love triangle of sorts with her Italian doppelganger, Isabella. Is it a great movie? Nah, not really, but it does fit on this list.

Adam Sandler - Jack And Jill

If you're an Adam Sandler fan, then you'll love Jack And Jill because you get twice as much Sandler as usual, as he plays the brother and sister, Jack and Jill. Honestly, unless you're a big Sandler fan, this is a movie you can skip, though it does seem to have fans for some reason.

How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days turns 22 on January 27th, and to this day, it's one of Kate Hudson’s best roles. Year after year, fans flock to one of the best romantic comedies of all time and compare her new roles to her beloved character, Andie Anderson, frequently. Even Hudson holds a special place in her heart for the film, choosing to recreate an iconic scene while attending a World Series game in 2024. It seems the trend will continue in 2025, as fans have already started comparing her new sports comedy series, Running Point, to the beloved rom-com classic.

The sports comedy series will make its debut on the 2025 TV schedule on February 27th for those who have a Netflix subscription. In it, Hudson plays Isla Gordon, the overlooked daughter of a family with deep ties to an LA basketball franchise. When a scandal leads to her brother's resignation, Isla finds herself thrust into the corporate side of basketball. The ten-episode series will test Isla as she sets out to prove that she deserves the president position in the male-dominated industry and her family.

Hudson will be joined by The Other Two star Drew Tarver, Suite Life of Zack and Cody alum Brenda Song, Chet Hanks, and beloved New Girl actor Max Greenfield. However, neither the powerhouse cast nor Mindy Kaling’s created credit has distracted How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days fans from immediately drawing parallels between the characters of Isla and Andie.

Instagram User @andrea__lynch was the first to point out the connection to the beloved rom-com, commenting on the announcement:

She’s not wrong in drawing the comparison. After all, Andie is a massive basketball fan in the early aughts romantic comedy. Though unlike Isla, who will be invested in a presumed fictional LA team, Andie is a die-hard New York Knicks fan.

Once the similarity was called out, though, other fans chimed in, including the official account for Kaling's media company, who wrote:

The official announcement, which was shared by co-creator Mindy Kaling and Kaling’s media company, also included a handful of first-look images, each highlighting one member of the cast. However, it was the fourth photo in the carousel that caught the How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days fan's attention. In it, Hudson is wearing a red carpet-worthy white, halter-style dress and is smiling beside an equally stylish Greenfield. One might think fans would be gushing about the pair, but Instagram User @courtneywalkup had other thoughts, commenting:

Honestly, I found myself having to do a double take because Hudson really does look like she’s channeling Andie in the dress. Ironically, the statement dress in How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days is actually yellow, but the similarities in material and style are definitely there. This very much could be a mature adult version of Andie if she decided to give up her journalism career to become a basketball franchise president.

The series comes at the perfect time as sports comedy fans are still trying to find a show to fill the void left behind when Ted Lasso Season 3 ended. It also might help distract everyone from the news that Netflix is raising its subscription prices again.

All I know is that I’ll definitely be logging onto the streaming service on February 27th to check this show led by Kate Hudson out.

Before Bridesmaids, a lot of the best R-rated comedies that deserved their 17+ rating were male-centric buddy films like The Hangover, Superbad, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and more. Then came Bridesmaids, which showed that women were just as capable as men of providing raunchy comedy that’ll stay in the minds of audiences for years. However, Kate Hudson talked about how one of her movies was “ahead of the curve” and could have had the potential of beating the R-rated punch.

The success of Bridesmaids that future female comedies should keep in mind came from providing laughs without being over the top and seeing a variety of female actresses provide their own brand of comedy in different ways. If you can believe it, Kate Hudson had a movie released in 2009 that she believed had the potential to be like Bridesmaids. On her and her brother’s podcast Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, the Almost Famous actress said a wedding movie of hers could have beat it to the R-rated punch:

That must have been really frustrating to have to tone down an R-rated comedy because of where it got picked up. The best thing about a 17 and older comedy film is its power to take risks in an unfiltered way. Looking back at the New York-set rom-com, Bride Wars could have had the potential to go all out there with its comedy about two friends fighting for the same wedding venue. But the watered-down version only led to a 10% on Rotten Tomatoes and a Razzie nomination.

In terms of Miramax’s downfall, Kate Hudson could be referring to when Bob and Harvey Weinstein left Miramax after tensions rose when Disney acquired the company. While Disney didn’t ditch Miramax, the company announced in 2009 that it was downsizing in staff and releasing a limited number of Miramax movies a year. Fox and New Regency would seem like a good direction for Casey Wilson and June Diane Raphael’s screenplay to reach a broader audience. However, the PG rating would mean having to cut edgier R-rated humor and mature themes that would have helped distinguish it.

In the podcast episode, Casey Wilson explained that she and her best friend June Diane Raphael performed a two-women show at the HBO Comedy Festival. New Regency executive Heidi Sherman was there and asked the two to adapt the Bride Wars script. But Kate Hudson emphasized how a shift in studios taking on a script can affect a screenplay’s tone and prevent being “ahead of the curve:”

I’d be really curious about what the initial script of Bride Wars would have entailed. But like Oliver Hudson suggested, maybe the friendship comedy could be adapted into a Broadway musical! Perhaps this would give their initial R-rated script a second chance to be what it was originally intended for. Considering the mature long-running musicals that have been hits like Chicago, Rent, Rock of Ages and more, Bride Wars as a Broadway musical wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

It’s a shame that Bride Wars was “ahead of the curve” in providing an R-rated female friendship comedy that could have challenged the feel-good genre. However, at least it’s good that we had a film like Bridesmaids to walk so that female-led buddy comedies like Pitch Perfect, Girls Trip and The Heat could run. Some actors excel in dramas, others in action flicks; but there are also others whose best work happens to be in some of the best romantic comedies of all time. Nothing against Hugh Grant, Meg Ryan, or Colin Firth’s more dramatic or action-oriented work, but let’s be real for a second and admit that Four Weddings and a Funeral, When Harry Met Sally, and Bridget Jones’s Diary, as well as their other work in the genre, is why they’re so beloved.

Annie Hall, Midnight in Paris, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and Hannah and her Sisters have made us laugh, cry, and feel everything in between over the past 50-plus years.

So, it's no surprise that she attended this year’s World Series to watch the New York Yankees play the LA Dodgers. However, she's also known for an iconic movie moment that involved her distracting Matthew McConaughey from an important basketball game. So, during the World Series, found time to distract her friend by hilariously recreating that iconic How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days scene.

In a video posted to Hudson’s TikTok, she can be seen sitting next to a friend decked out in Dodgers gear. With the bases loaded according to the caption, Hudson launched into an iconic re-creation of the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days scene by asking her friend to go get her a soda. After her friend responded with a resounding “no,” Hudson kept it up. Take a look:

For those that might be unfamiliar with the wonderful 2000s film, Hudson is doing a word-for-word re-creation of a scene in the movie where her character Andi attends a Knicks game with her boyfriend Benjamin (Matthew McConaughey). In the final minutes of the game, she asks Benjamin to get her soda, which he reluctantly agrees to. Unfortunately, it’s the wrong kind of soda, and she sends him back out, causing him to miss the Knicks winning a big game at Madison Square Garden.

In recent years, the scene has gone viral, and with both Hudson and McConaughey open to doing a sequel, it’s fitting that the Almost Famous actress would choose now to parody it. Her friend might have been annoyed, given how intense Game 5 ended up being, but the fans found it hilarious. So, they flooded her TikTok comments with responses almost as iconic as the clip itself:

Honestly, these comments are iconic. I love all the callbacks to the OG movie, and it shows that there's still a whole lot of love for this fantastic rom-com. Plus, it was super fitting for the moment too, which is likely why millions of fans saw and liked it. The only thing that would have made it better is if McConaughey was there to play his pivotal role in the scene, but her friend did a great job!

Dave Grohl nearly broke the Internet – but not in a Kim Kardashian posing in gold dust and only gold dust way – when he announced he’d had a baby outside of his marriage of more than two decades. The child, another girl, marks his fourth kid after he’d had three other children with wife Jordyn Blum. This weekend, a woman came out of the woodwork claiming to be the mother of the Foo Fighters lead singer’s baby, leading to some additional brouhaha. But how is his wife feeling about the aftermath?

The Story Behind The Faked Baby Grohl Post

On Thursday, a woman took to Instagram to claim she’d been the one to sleep with Dave Grohl. The post, which featured a woman’s hand near a baby’s, claimed she was the mother to one Roxie Junie Grohl. Intriguingly, the post broke and went viral on Monday, September 9th— an entire day before Dave Grohl admitted to his his affair on the social media platform.

Fans' tongues were wagging and quite possibly Grohl decided to put the matter to rest, but there’s another wrinkle: the post in question was faked. Us Magazine reached out to Grohl’s rep, who confirmed to the outlet the account “@valeriegreyson” was not the real woman who Grohl did have a child with, though Grohl really did have a child out of wedlock.

TMZ eventually caught up with the fake posters, who told the outlet, "I’m sorry this was a fake page we just wanted followers! We’re minors!"

Grohl and his wife Jordyn Blum have been married since 2003, a few years after Foo Fighters had peaked in their "Everlong" era and well before Grohl admitted they had a terrible band name.

How Kate Hudson Has Reportedly Been Supporting Jordyn Blum In The Aftermath

Reports have indicated Blum has been seen out and about without her wedding ring on, which might be a meaningless coincidence or could be a sign there’s trouble in paradise. Per a Daily Mail report, she’s been leaning on pal Kate Hudson as a sounding board. Hudson’s been pals with people in the music business since her Almost Famous years. (She was also previously married to The Black Crowes' Chris Robinson and in a relationship with Muse's Matt Bellamy, so she has a lot of connections to that side of the biz.)

Hudson's been said to be giving “major support.” The report goes further to indicate Hudson’s allegedly “disgusted” that Grohl had still been sleeping around at age 55, and she even sent Blum a present to help her get through the coming days. Per an insider:

Dave Grohl also reportedly retained a divorce lawyer before he took to Instagram to announce the birth of his latest child. However, he wrote in his post he hoped things would work out with his nuclear family.

Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl)

Johnny Depp was unquestionably one of the biggest stars of the 2000s after previously making a name for himself throughout the 1990s, most notably with his work with Tim Burton and in the independent film space. Looking back, the No. 1 movie of his was his debut as Captain Jack Sparrow in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie in 2003. The actor helped create the best fumbling pirate we’ve ever seen before, going on to make four more of its kind. Fans are still talking about this movie and even writing and signing petitions for the actor to reprise the role. 

Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge!)

Nicole Kidman was one of the most in demand actresses of the 2000s, so much so that she did an average of three movies a year across the first half of it. Her greatest movie of the decade is actually the first of them from that time period: Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! The jukebox musical was a commercial success, award season darling and we’ll always go back to her role as Satine. 

Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) 

After Robert Downey Jr. was in the public eye for addiction-related setbacks, he found a way to make a comeback throughout the 2000s with a ton of great movies like Zodiac, Good Night and Good Luck and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. But the best of the best was his turn as Iron Man in 2008. 

Samuel L. Jackson (Unbreakable) 

Samuel L. Jackson was a major fixture of the 1990s, between saying “Hold onto your butts!” in Jurassic Park, starring in Pulp Fiction or starring with Bruce Willis in Die Hard with a Vengeance. His prominence as an actor remained strong in the 2000s with all sorts of roles, including as Mace Windu in Star Wars, but his greatest is in M. Night Shyamalan’s unique superhero film, Unbreakable. 

Scarlett Johansson (Lost In Translation)

Scarlett Johansson was a major star in the 2010s, especially as an Avenger, but she really blossomed into this throughout the 2000s, between movies like Ghost World, Match Point, The Island or The Prestige. The performance that really carried the audience’s love for her throughout the decade was in Sofia Coppola’s Lost In Translation alongside Bill Murray, where they play unlikely friends who meet in Tokyo. 

 Will Smith (The Pursuit of Happyness)

After Will Smith had a hugely successful decade in the '90s between Bad Boys, Independence Day and being The Fresh Prince, Smith notably took his career a step further in the 2000s. He took on a number of more dramatic roles like Ali and Seven Pounds during this time that deserved the actor an Oscar, but there’s no movie more special than 2006’s The Pursuit of Happyness. In the film, he helped tell the true story of a homeless salesman and his son. 

Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde)

“What, like it’s hard?” Of course, the defining Reese Witherspoon movie of the 2000s is Legally Blonde! The 2001 movie continues to be one of the most quotable comedies and Elle Woods is a beloved heroine in modern pop culture. As a whole, Witherspoon was serving throughout the decade by also starring in things like the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line or the rom-coms Sweet Home Alabama and Just Like Heaven.

Brad Pitt (Inglourious Basterds)

The 2000s was a huge decade of career expansion for Brad Pitt after his heartthrob beginnings in critically-acclaimed '90s flicks such as Interview with a Vampire, Seven, Fight Club. The cream of the crop for a very busy Pitt during this time has to be Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, where he played Lt. Aldo Raine in an alternate history story about World War II. 

Jim Carrey (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind)

The stardom of Jim Carrey was deep in the fixture of 2000s movies through a ton of big movies like How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Bruce Almighty or Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. But one of the actor’s most dramatic roles, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, stands as his best of the decade. The sci-fi romance imagines a world where one could have a procedure to forget their ex, and asks big questions about memory and love. 

Kate Hudson (Almost Famous) 

Kate Hudson has called Almost Famous “the beginning of everything” for her, and it really was career-wise for the actress. When the movie came out in 2000, it started a massive decade for her that would have her in flicks like How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days, The Skeleton Key and Nine among a ton of roles. The Cameron Crowe movie had Hudson playing Penny Lane, a groupie of a '70s band. 

Tom Hanks (Cast Away)

The 2000s marked Tom Hanks third decade as a movie star and it was another solid time for the actor, particularly for more serious roles. While there are a lot of close contenders like Road To Perdition, Catch Me If You Can and The Terminal, his greatest movie of that time was Cast Away. Hanks gives an all-time performance as a man who gets stranded on an island alone. We never knew we could cry over a volleyball before the 2000 movie. 

Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia!)

Meryl Streep turned 50 in 1999. While that historically has spelled bad news for female actors in Hollywood, Streep proved she could still be one of the biggest stars in her middle-aged years with a ton of performances in the 2000s. From Adaptation to The Hours, The Devil Wear Prada, Lions For Lambs, Doubt, Julie & Julia, Fantastic Mr. Fox and It’s Complicated, this time was an embarrassment of riches for the actress, but if we had to pick one, the iconic Mamma Mia! is the one we’re still singing all the words to. 

Denzel Washington (Training Day)

Denzel Washington’s place as one of the most impressive living actors was apparent in the 2000s through a productive decade full of critically-acclaimed performances. The ultimate Washington movie of the time we’ve chosen is 2001’s Training Day, which in turn earned him his second Oscar win. But, the actor made a ton of great hits during this time like Remember The Titans, Antwone Fisher, Man on Fire, Inside Man, American Gangster and The Great Debaters. 

Tom Cruise (Minority Report) 

After Tom Cruise starred in movies like Rain Man, Top Gun, the first Mission: Impossible and Magnolia in the '80s and '90s, he continued to be a major actor into the 2000s with a ton of fresh roles. His best of the decade is arguably one of his two collaborations with Steven Spielberg, Minority Report. The sci-fi flick has Cruise’s character on the run for a crime he has not committed in an imagined 2054. 

Julia Roberts (Erin Brockovich)

Julia Roberts made a string of romantic comedies in the ‘90s, but when the new century came along, she diversified her career with a lot more dramatic roles. Her best movie during this time was in 2000’s Erin Brockovich. The biographical movie from Steven Soderbergh about groundwater contamination also earned Roberts an Oscar for Best Actress. 

Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity) 

It felt like Matt Damon was in all the movies back in the 2000s after he and Ben Affleck wowed Hollywood with Good Will Hunting in 1997. The actor was in 20 movies across this decade, but the best of them was 2002's action thriller The Bourne Identity. He would go on to star in an entire trilogy as Jason Bourne. 

Leonardo DiCaprio (Catch Me If You Can) 

Leonardo DiCaprio became a verified movie star when he said “I’m king of the world!” in 1997’s Titanic. As he moved into his mid-twenties and thirties in the 2000s, he started working closely with Martin Scorsese in a series of movies (Gangs Of New York, The Aviator and The Departed). However, his best comes from Steven Spielberg with Catch Me If You Can. The biographical crime comedy had DiCaprio playing a con man alongside Tom Hanks. 

Kirsten Dunst (Marie Antoinette)

Kirsten Dunst got her start as a child actor in the '90s in movies such as Jumanji and Interview with a Vampire before starring in films like The Virgin Suicides and Drop Dead Gorgeous at the tail end of the '90s. Dunst officially became an adult in the 2000s and made tons of movies, from being Mary-Jane Watson in the Spider-Man movies to being in Bring It On. Her second collaboration with Sofia Coppola as the famed French archduchess is her best work of the decade. 

Adam Sandler (Punch-Drunk Love)

Even though the 2000s didn’t quite top Adam Sandler’s amazing Saturday Night Live star into movie star turn, he was in all sorts of memorable movies in the 2000s. The one that sticks out the most is his collaboration with Paul Thomas Anderson with 2002’s Punch-Drunk Love. Unlike his screwball comedies, it’s an earnest rom-com that may not have been popular, but it is unforgettable. 

Will Ferrell - Anchorman

Will Ferrell’s acting career really took off in the 2000s in a massive way. He left Saturday Night Live in 2002 after seven seasons on the sketch show and became one of the funniest Hollywood movie stars. His most hilarious leading role has to be in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, where he played a 1970s news host. 

George Clooney (Ocean’s Eleven)

It’s not easy to choose the best George Clooney role of the 2000s given the sheer amount of solid movies he starred in at the time. From his Coen Brothers’ movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? to his Oscar-winning role in Syriana. But, it simply wouldn’t have been the 2000s without Clooney leading the pack in Ocean’s Eleven (and the trilogy it became). He’s effortlessly cool as the master plotter of a casino heist. 

Gwyneth Paltrow (The Royal Tenenbaums) 

Paltrow was in a load of films during this decade, coming off her Oscar win in Shakespeare In Love. But, among a cast including Owen Wilson, Danny Glover, Gene Hackman, Bill Murray, Anjelica Huston and Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow’s Margot stole the show and therefore finds a spot as her No.1 2000s role. 

Halle Berry (Monster's Ball) 

The 2000s was an iconic moment for Halle Berry, who became Storm in X-Men and starred in Catwoman and as a Bond girl in Die Another Day. Her best role is her Oscar-winning lead in 2001’s Monster’s Ball. The movie is about a widower who unknowingly begins a relationship with a corrections officer who assisted in the execution of her late husband.

During the 2000s, Jennifer Garner became famous for starring in the TV show Alias. But at the same time, she established herself as a movie star, too. What caught our hearts the most was her role in 13 Going On 30 alongside Mark Ruffalo. It’s a blast to see the actress play a teen in an adult’s body. 

Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder) 

The 2000s had Ben Stiller becoming a movie star in his own right, between the hilarious Meet The Parents in 2000, to Zoolander and Along Came Polly. His best movie of this era was one he wrote, directed and starred in. Tropic Thunder is a hilarious satirical action comedy with a star-studded cast that we’re still laughing about over a decade later. 

Russell Crowe (A Beautiful Mind) 

After becoming a familiar face for his roles in the '90s, Russell Crowe became an all-time great actor of the 2000s by starring in Gladiator, Cinderella Man, American Gangster, Master and Commander and 3:10 To Yuma. If you’ve seen his performance in 2001’s A Beautiful Mind, you likely never forgot Crowe’s inspired performance as schizophrenic mathematician John Nash. 

Nicolas Cage (Adaptation) 

Nicolas Cage’s third decade in movies was a busy one that had him in more big-budget movies than ever between National Treasure and Ghost Rider, but Spike Jonze’s Adaptation takes the prize as he played twin brothers, one struggling with writer’s block and the other deciding to copy his brother’s ambitions.

Keira Knightley (Pride & Prejudice) 

Keira Knightley turned fifteen when the 21st century began, but it wasn’t long before she became a movie star – leading movies like Bend it Like Beckham, Pirates of the Caribbean and Love, Actually. The defining Knightley performance of her first decade as a big-screen actress was in the film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. 

Jack Black (School of Rock) 

Jack Black had a massive decade in movies in the 2000s, but one cannot forget how perfect he was in the role of Dewey Finn in School of Rock. The 2003 movie allowed the actor to flex his musician muscles and unique charm as he played a failed rock star turned imposter substitute teacher. 

Drew Barrymore (50 First Dates)

Drew Barrymore had the chance to come into her own as a movie star in her adulthood in the 2000s following being a child actor in films like E.T. and Firestarter. She had an awesome decade that included Charlie’s Angels, He’s Just Not That Into You and Whip It, but her role with Adam Sandler as a forgetful love interest remains one of her best and most hilarious (yet heartwarming) roles. 

Hugh Jackman (The Prestige) 

Hugh Jackman started his career in theater in the '90s, but in the 2000s he quickly became a big star. Sure, he became Wolverine for the first time in the X-Men movies, played Van Helsing and starred in Kate & Leopold, but it was particularly special to see his role in Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige. He’s amazing as a magician who feuds with Christian Bale’s character over the ultimate magic trick.

Sometimes, all it takes is one joint appearance in a movie or television show for two popular actors to become known as an acting duo, and sometimes they prove to work so well together that they go on to star in even more projects together. This duo has produced some well-known and beloved comedies and dramas over the years, as Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling first starred together in Crazy, Stupid, Love in 2011, moving on to Gangster Squad in 2013 and the Oscar-winning musical La La Land in 2016. Matt Damon And Ben Affleck

If this isn’t a classic acting duo by now, there are none. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have been “bizarrely close” friends since childhood, and they first joined forces to great effect by penning and starring in Good Will Hunting (after having both appeared in School Ties), which won them the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. They also worked on Dogma in the 1990s, then, after nearly 25 years, they joined forces again to write and star in The Last Duel, and since then have also worked together on Air and the upcoming RIP for Netflix.

If only these two powerhouse stars had already been in more movies together…Denzel Washington and Don Cheadle’s first pairing was as P.I. Easy Rawlins and his loyal but unpredictable friend, Mouse, in 1995’s Devil in a Blue Dress. While their work in the film garnered critical acclaim, it would be over 15 years before they teamed again for Flight.

We should never underestimate the power of a franchise when it comes to popular on-screen pairings. Michelle Yeoh has been a star for several decades, and part of that reason is because of her breakout role in the 1992’s Supercop, which also starred Jackie Chan. But, they’ve made a number of other films with each other, including Supercop 2, and Hong Kong action films Twinkle, Twinkle, Lucky Stars, Project S, and both voiced characters in Kung Fu Panda 2, along with having starred in a 1984 watch commercial together.

Angela Bassett And Laurence Fishburne

While Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne were famously nominated for Oscars for their lead roles as Tina Turner and Ike Turner in 1993’s What’s Love Got to Do with It?, the duo was actually first together on screen for Boyz n the Hood in ‘91. We could hardly leave Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks off of this list, as the famed actors have co-starred in two of the biggest romantic comedies of all time. Everyone knows them for making Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail hits, but before all of that, they led one of the weirder rom-coms made with Joe Versus the Volcano, and reunited for the 2016 drama Ithaca, which Ryan directed.

People often mention Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler as an acting duo they want to see more of and with good reason. The two have made magic in the classics The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates and Blended.

Adam Sandler And Chris Rock

This pairing goes back decades, to the time when Adam Sandler and Chris Rock starred on Saturday Night Live together in the ‘90s. Since then, the real-life buddies have appeared in seven movies together, with The Longest Yard, Grown Ups and its sequel, The Week Of and Top Five counted among that number.

George Clooney And Brad Pitt

Of course, George Clooney and Brad Pitt helped to make the Ocean’s Eleven franchise a hit, but the friends additionally teamed up for the live TV movie 8, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (which Clooney directed), Burn After Reading and the 2024 films If and Wolfs.

Keegan-Michael Key And Jordan Peele

The duo of Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, who first became recognizable during their time on MadTV, eventually went on to their own acclaimed sketch comedy series, Key and Peele. But, while making names for themselves on other series and in a number of movies, they continue to work with one another on projects like Keanu, Toy Story 4 and Wendell & Wild.

Awkwafina And Simu Liu

It was the MCU that first brought Awkwafina and Simu Liu together in the hit film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and while we’re still waiting to see when that franchise will bring them back together, 2024 saw them team up again for the action comedy, Jackpot!.

Jane Fonda And Robert Redford

Dedicated film fans probably know that legends Jane Fonda and Robert Redford starred together in Barefoot in the Park and The Electric Horseman, but their joint movie appearances do go beyond that. They also starred in The Chase in ‘66 and reunited for Our Souls at Night in 2017, and both had their film debuts in 1960’s Tall Story.

As you can see, film history is packed with acting duos who’ve worked together more than once, and that will probably always be the case.

Sometimes Watch What Happens Live just hits the spot and answers questions I didn’t even know I had about my favorite celebrities. Early in their careers, Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey starred in some memorable rom-coms together: How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and Fool’s Gold. During the production of the latter, a rumor ran around the actress had forced her co-star to wear deodorant and, of course, Andy Cohen had to ask about it. 

Hudson was seemingly startled the old “urban legend” got brought up again during a fan Q&A portion of her recent Watch What Happens Live appearance. Answering with a vociferous “no,” the actress and mom of three clarified the truth about the Texas actor, confirming there is a deodorant-related story about McConaughey– but it has nothing to do with her. 

Clearly, the lack of deodorant wasn’t a huge problem for the two stars. They appeared together in their first movie in 2003 and then got back into the rom-com game again in 2008 with Fool’s Gold. I’m assuming if there were any real smell issues she simply wouldn’t have said “yes” to a second movie. 

What Matthew McConaughey Has Said About Deodorant Use

Fans who keep up with the Matthew McConaughey probably already know his deodorant use has been nonexistent for decades. I once even saw a reddit thread where a fan referred to the actor as “Intersmellar,” so it’s a relatively widely known thing. He himself has commented on his penchant for hating deodorant, telling People in 2005 he hadn’t “worn deodorant in 20 years” – and that was nearly 20 years ago. 

His co-star Yvette Nicole Brown also commented on this a few years ago, noting that McConaughey skips the antiperspirant but does “smell like good living.” So it’s clear his personal hygiene isn’t a huge issue for the people he shares the screen with. And it is worth pointing out that by 2014 McConaughey did tell the Los Angeles Times he is less rigid with the "no deodorant" rule these days and does sometimes wear it-- when he's trying to make a good first impression.  

While Matthew McConaughey’s rom-com days had seemingly been behind him, but as the genre is making a comeback, there is some chatter there could be another How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days with him and Hudson. This would make sense, given it’s the rom-com McConaughey still makes the most money from. Though, I'd recommend setting it someplace the weather is cold.

For as long as the genre has existed, romantic comedies have centered around how to get and keep a significant other. But when How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days hit theaters in 2003, fans were convinced that was about to change. Despite what the title suggests, the movie ends with Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson’s characters confessing their feelings and kissing. It was a textbook “happily ever after” moment that left fans satisfied. At least, it did until romantic movies started getting sequels.

Since How To Lose A Guy was iconic for subverting expectations, it makes sense that fans would want a sequel to one of the best romantic comedies of the aughts. They’re not the only ones, either. In a recent interview with Andy Cohan on Bravos’ Watch What Happens Live, Hudson opened about what it would take to reunite the star and get a sequel greenlit:

Finding the right script seems to be a common theme when it comes to sequels and reboots. Unlike The Parent Trap’s Lisa Ann Walter’s who was quick to share her ideas for a potential sequel, Hudson wants to leave that up to the professionals. Now, I may not be a professional in any sense of the word, but as a rom-com connoisseur, I do have some fun theories about what could happen in a potential sequel.

A Sequel Could Center Around Their Teenager And Their Dating Woes 

When it comes to sequels set decades after the original, the common decision is to center them around the next generation. It would definitely work for a How To Lose sequel. Maybe Andie and Benjamin’s child is having relationship troubles and turns to their parents for help. Of course, Andie and Ben’s advice is outdated in the modern world of dating, so it ends up being disastrous rather than helpful. In the process, the married couple could reminisce about the unconventional way they got together all those years ago.

Instead Of Trying To Lose The Guy, Maybe She’s Trying To Divorce The Guy

One of the reasons How To Lose Your Guy worked so well is because of Hudson and McConaughey’s palpable chemistry and the willingness of their characters to commit to the bit. I would love to see that same energy manifest in a sequel, and I think I have the perfect idea for how.

Picture this: Andie and Ben have been married for decades; they’ve raised kids, had successful careers, and ultimately have lived the life of their dreams. Somewhere along the line, though, they lost their romantic spark. They both know they’re heading for divorce, but neither wants to be the one to file so they don’t have to be the bad guy in their kids’ eyes. Instead, they decide to dig into their own playbooks and begin to scheme and prank each other in the hopes the other caves.

Just like the original, though, Andie and Ben end up growing closer despite their divorce plans and realize this is what their relationship has been missing. In the end, they renew their vows at a beautiful ceremony surrounded by their friends and family.

Like I said, I’m not a professional screenwriter by any means, so I’m sure a more seasoned veteran could come up with a better idea. The point is that there are viable options to make a sequel work if Hollywood wants it to. It would be even easier knowing that Hudson is on board and McConaughey won't have to be convinced by a fortune teller to take the role.

In the meantime, fans can revisit the classic rom-com, which is streaming on Paramount+ with an active subscription.

The Voice Season 25 is in the books, as the competition held a star-studded finale that featured appearances by Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and a number of other former coaches of The Voice in celebration of the milestone season. Of course, a winner was also named, but before that, over the course of the two-hour results show, viewers were treated to live performances from some of today’s hottest stars. One of those singers was none other than Kate Hudson, and people were having some wild reactions to the revelation that the actress has such a great voice.

Kate Hudson has long been known for her acting skills in movies like Almost Famous, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Glass Onion. However, many who tuned in to see Asher HaVon secure a very deserving win for Reba McEntire’s team were unaware of how multi-talented Hudson is. One fan said on X (Twitter): 

Apparently Kate Hudson has been singing since she was young, but she’s just now making moves in the music industry, and she recently held a music launch party to celebrate her debut album Glorious. Some people may not have been aware of that before, but they sure are now, after Hudson performed the title track on The Voice finale. Another viewer posted their shocked reaction:

Still others were surprised that people were only just finding out about this talent. Twitter user thatlittletown said they’ve been trying to spread the word about Kate Hudson since the 2009 musical Nine, and another kindly reminded us of her short run on Glee:

This may be a surprise to those only familiar with her romantic comedies, but Hudson fans know that this was a long time coming considering her big screen debut as part of the Almost Famous cast. Now, the Bride Wars star is opening up about how her career beginnings being tied to that film as well as the full circle moment she’s having right now. 

The 45-year-old star recently chatted with People and talked about her longtime desire to delve into the music business and what this means for the second act of her career. She also reflected on her early Almost Famous days and how they played such a major role in her life. The Cameron Crowe-directed film is full of great songs and was a huge entry into different music catalogs for Hudson. She reflected on the movie as a learning experience in more ways than one, saying: 

Almost Famous is one of the best music movies ever and was a great starting point for the Marshall alum, who was seeking a music education. However, the movie played an even bigger role in her life than just a musical influence. The actress was nominated for an Oscar for her performance, and that opened doors for her tremendously. She soon became one of Hollywood’s most bankable actresses, with some of her most notable roles being in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, You, Me and Dupree, and most recently, Glass Onion. Needless to say the 2000 period piece made her a star and, now, the music influence is helping her evolve as a musician. 

Fans of the classic film seem ecstatic about Kate Hudson’s move into music and feel like it’s a natural next step for the actress. She has already sung with rockstars like John Mayer and Seal on stage, so it was about time she channeled some of that energy into her own tunes. The 45-year-old has been elated by the fan support and how much they're connecting her musicianship with her Penny Lane character. She said of the full-circle nature of the situation:

I know it’s popular to say that famous people are just like us, but sometimes it’s really true. What Did Kate Hudson Say About Seeing Dead People?

Look, when people talk about things like seeing ghosts, demons, etc. from the supernatural world, they usually speak about it in theoretical terms. That’s because in some circles (Earth. The Earth is the circle.) saying stuff like, “After my grandma died she came and ate dinner with me every night for a month,” will get you some bemused/terrified side-eyes. She was recently interviewed by Howard Stern for his SiriusXM show, and was asked to confirm that she can see dead people, and she responded:

I have questions. Though, these are probably not your standard queries after someone makes such a pronouncement. I’m out here living my life and I have seen…something in the past, so I’m not gonna judge her statement. Saying you see ghosts is one thing, but WTF does “I can see everything,” mean?!

Stern teased her a bit by asking if his deceased father was in the studio yelling and calling him an idiot, but I really wished he would have followed up with some more specific questions. What kind of "messages" does she get and how do those come through? Where is she seeing “everything” and what is it? Are we talking dead people plus demons possessing humans, angels saving people from disastrous fates, ghouls, poltergeists, mythological creatures, vampires, werewolves…SKRULLS MASQUERADING AS HUMANS?!?!

Also, how do her experiences, which seem to be quite vast, align with other celebrity reports of ghost sightings? Has she ever had sex with a ghost like Bobby Brown, or been tempted to become engaged to marry one of these spirits? Does she have a ghost security guard like Octavia Spencer? She continued, and noted that she thinks the afterlife as a whole has an actual science-based explanation leading to all the dead people she’s seen before:

I don’t know about you, but I consider myself very lucky that 1) I’ve only seen something one time and 2) it was simply odd and didn’t fill me with absolutely life-altering terror, so whether there’s a scientific reason for ghosts or not makes me no nevermind. As far as the potential fucking weirdness of the afterlife goes, well Kate, that’s a problem future Adrienne is going to have to figure out because modern-day Adrienne already has enough going on.

When a movie star like Kate Hudson is releasing music, you know she has to go all out for the occasion. The Glass Onion star hosted a party to get her friends and fans excited for a new album, and it really did look like a night filled with glitz and nostalgia. Additionally, Hudson stunned in an outfit fit for a superstar, as she donned a sheer black frock that totally gave a '70s vibe. In my humble opinion, she seemed to be channeling some major Daisy Jones & The Six energy. 

'70s fashion is definitely making a comeback, and part of that can be attributed to the success of the aforementioned Amazon series in 2023. The chic looks on the show are timeless and have brought back a whole new level of cool. The always trendy Fool's Gold star decided to bring that vibe to her look for her album release party, and it is absolutely to die for. The dress had a base layer of a simple plunging black cocktail dress, while the sheer top layer gave a free-spirited whimsy that totally fit the star's keen sense of style. Her friend, Glen Powell, was at the party and captured the look with his own camera, before posting it to his Instagram story. You can see the look below:

For those who aren't familiar, the critically acclaimed Daisy Jones & the Six is a miniseries based on Taylor Jenkins Reid's best-selling 2019 novel of the same name. The story tracks the ups and downs of a band, as they navigate the music business during the 1970s. As the story progresses, viewers also learn why the group split up at the height of their fame. The show definitely delivered on the fresh tunes but, as mentioned, it also delivered some chic fits, and I'm loving that the Raising Helen star's recent outfit gave off those same vibes.

With an ensemble like that, she's coming in red hot as she seeks to make her name in the music world, and Oscar nominee's debut in that sphere is a long time coming. According to Variety, she's been writing and singing songs since she was a kid and, now, she finally feels confident enough to share her vocal talents with the world. She's demonstrated her musicality on rare occasions, including a time that she sung on stage with John Mayer and Seal. However, this is her first official move into the record industry. 

She signed with Virgin Music Group and revealed to the trade that she feels like the label is truly representing her as an artist in her first sonic endeavor. Some may not associate Kate Hudson with such a venture, but she does have a sweet connection to excellent tunes from a cinematic standpoint. She has played music-loving characters in the past, most notably as part of the Almost Famous cast. Instead of playing the role of a groupie this time, however, Hudson is the real star of the show. 

Even though Kate Hudson’s music career is a major departure from her acting work that she’s most associated with, this doesn’t mean she has given up on the craft that's made her a star. She's currently set to star in Max Minghella’s directorial debut, Shell, which is believed to be released later in the 2024 movie schedule. Additionally, the How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days star is currently attached to a comedy series produced by Mindy Kaling. With all these creative projects, Hudson is certainly very busy, and I’m glad she used her music release party to let loose and celebrate with her friends. 

Not only was the outfit for the night totally reminiscent of Daisy Jones In The Six, but it also felt true to Kate Hudson, which was essential for something as personal as her first album release. The '70s style was channeled buy the Almost Famous character that made her a star, as well as her mom, Goldie Hawn, who emerged as a true star during that same decade. It was the perfect fashion move for the moment, and I can’t wait to see what other looks she sports as she enters her rockstar era.
