It’s not uncommon for a comedian to tell a joke that offends in some way, big or small. When that happens, there are usually one of two reactions. Either the comedian apologizes for crossing a line and upsetting people, or the comedian makes a big deal of not apologizing for upsetting anybody. However, in the most recent case, we have a somewhat unusual situation where Howie Mandel first apologized to Kelly Ripa for a joke, and now seems to be taking back that apology.

What Happened Between Kelly Ripa And Howie Mandel?

The issue traces back to a recent appearance by Howie Mandel on Live with Kelly and Mark, in which it is brought up that Mandel recently turned 70. Ripa says that Mandel looks good, and the comedian takes issue with the compliment, indicating that looking good “for 70” isn’t a compliment. She insists that’s not what she meant, but the two go back and forth for a minute in an exchange that isn't particularly heated, but also clearly isn't funny.

The conversation has now blown up, with implications that Ripa was upset by it all. Seemingly confirming the conflict. Howie Mandel took to Instagram to issue a public apology to the host.

This isn't the first time Howie Mandel has apologized for something he said, though he's also a comedian who doesn't offend quite as often as some others. While that would normally mark the end of things, that hasn’t been the case here. The issue is apparently still eating at Mandel as he explained on a recent podcast.

Why Howie Mandel Regrets Apologizing

The alleged “conflict” between Howie Mandel and Kelly Ripa has continued to be addressed following Mandel’s apology. The comedian recently appeared on Hot Mic with Billy Bush, where he addressed the situation. He seemed a little surprised that the whole thing was still being talked about, as to him, this was just a case of a joke that didn’t land. He said…

As Mandel said in the above apology, he had struggled with the statement, as he doesn’t generally believe comedians should apologize. It’s a perspective that many other comedians have, that jokes may not work and may upset people from time to time, but that doesn’t mean apologies should be issued. He continued…

Time will tell whether this is the end of the issue or if the apparent regret over the apology will result in it continuing. So, as this situation involving Mandel and Ripa continues to develop, we'll keep you posted.

Ryan Reynolds is easily one of the busiest men in Hollywood, so it’s easy to imagine that he has quite a packed schedule. Despite that, to our knowledge, the star has historically been prompt whenever he has a talk show appearance to make. However, this week, he had a bit of a snafu, as he was nearly late for his appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark. Reynolds was so concerned that he even sent a crucial text message to Mark Consuelos. Thankfully, the Canadian star made it and, of course, he read his hilarious text on air.

The Deadpool star was scheduled to appear on Kelly and Mark on Wednesday and, while on air, Kelly Ripa told the audience that her co-host/hubby had just heard from him. Ripa said that Reynolds reached out to say he was “running late,” leading her to say it was “an alarming text to get backstage.” According to EW, producer Michael Gelman signaled from off stage that Reynolds was indeed in the building. The show eventually went to a commercial break, after which Reynolds appeared with the eponymous hosts.

Whew, that sounds like a stressful situation for a talk show crew, as I can’t even imagine being on live TV and being uncertain as to whether a major guest will show up. It’s wonderful that Ryan Reynolds ended up making it, though. How serious Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ nerves were at that point is hard to say. But, in what may now be one of the best Daytime TV moments ever, Reynolds certainly lightened the mood by pulling out his phone and sharing exactly what he texted Consuelos:

It goes without saying that this message is so on brand for the Spirited actor that it hurts, but it’s still so funny. This may even be better than the moment he popped on on The View due to escorting his mother to a taping. Also, you can believe it, the comments above aren't all that the A-lister texted either. Reynolds shared what he considered to be the “good news” about the situation while also throwing a bit of playful shade at Mark Consuelos:

In college, I’d be worried about missing a college class, so I can’t even imagine the pressure of being a guest on a nationally syndicated talk show and trying to get there on time. Again, though, very few people are as busy as Ryan Reynolds is. (OK, maybe Ryan Seacrest is that busy, but still.) Reynolds has various business ventures on the table and currently even co-owns the profitable football club Wrexham AFC.

Of course, Reynolds also continues to produce and star in movies and TV productions. He most recently produced the documentary John Candy: I Like Me (which will soon be streamable with a Prime Video subscription). With that, Reynolds has been promoting the film, which is why he was booked to appear on Live with Kelly and Mark to begin with. Let’s all be grateful Reynolds managed to get there – not just because he kept the show’s crew from being in a bind but also because he gave that A+ text reading.

One of the most interesting aspects of having Mark Consuelos take over for Ryan Seacrest on Live! in 2023 was getting a peek into his dynamic with wife Kelly Ripa. The hosting transition was as seamless as they could have hoped, and two years later as episodes continue to air on the 2025 TV schedule, it's still smooth sailing. However, Ripa admits there is one thing that her husband does that annoys her when they’re on live TV.

Kelly Ripa sat down with the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast to discuss all kinds of topics, from aging to sex to what it’s like to work with her husband. Ripa has been a host of Live! for multiple rebrands since 2001, and I’m sure it’s safe to say Mark Consuelos is her favorite of all the guys she’s worked with on the show — the others being Regis Philbin, Michael Strahan and Ryan Seacrest. However, there’s one habit the Riverdale actor has that she could do without. She said:

I am dying at Kelly Ripa not only having to remind Mark Consuelos not to tune her out when they’re on the air but reminding him that he is actually being paid very well to remain focused on her words. They’ve been together for so long, too, that she knows exactly what it looks like when he stops listening. Ripa continued:

I’m sure the casual home viewer doesn’t even notice when his attention starts to shift, but he’s definitely not going to get away with that sitting just inches away from his wife.

The former soap opera stars have been married since 1996 and share three children, and I’m sure anyone who’s been in a long-term relationship can admit to sometimes tuning out their partner. In fact, I recently admitted to doing just that, so there’s no judgment from me, especially since Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been together for literal decades.

The All My Children alum also points out that she understands it happening in their personal lives, but it's when they’re at work that she needs Mark Consuelos to bring the co-host energy, which is a whole different ballgame than the husband energy.

All in all, it’s a pretty small gripe when it comes to working with your spouse, because there are a lot of married couples who couldn’t do a show together — like Nicole Kidman rejecting the idea of co-starring with Keith Urban — not to mention doing it live every day.

Ryan Seacrest’s list of hosting jobs has expanded quite a bit over the course of his career, from American Idol to E! News to Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and now Wheel of Fortune among many other projects. He also hosted Live! with Kelly and Ryan from 2017 to 2023, until it became too hard for him to travel from LA to New York so much. Seacrest still keeps in touch with his former co-host, though, and there’s even a reunion coming up very soon.

When Seacrest bowed out of Live, it was certainly an emotional time, especially given how close he became with Kelly Ripa. Although he’s been busy, juggling American Idol and Wheel of Fortune, that isn’t stopping him from reuniting with Ripa. Seacrest told E! News that he’s going to be appearing on Live! with Kelly and Mark in the near future, and I love hearing how close he still is with the couple:

With Idol's latest season nearing its conclusion on the 2025 TV schedule, it makes sense for Ryan Seacrest to appear on the talk show. He'll likely promote the singing competition series while he's there. I love when things work out, and I'm pleased that he'll have an opportunity to chop it up with his former co-star on his old stomping grounds. Thankfully, "a couple weeks" isn't a long time to wait, so fans will get to see Seacrest and Ripa share the screen soon!

Of course, this won't be the first time Seacrest will have appeared on his former talk show since his exit. Last October, he and his sister, Meredith Seacrest-Leach, were guests on Live! with Kelly and Mark and were there to promote their new children’s book. Ripa came with the Wheel of Fortune jokes and absolutely roasted her former co-host. Those playful barbs further illustrated the close relationship the two media personalities have.

This season of American Idol also marks a reunion for Ryan Seacrest. Carrie Underwood returned to the show this season to judge, replacing Katy Perry. Unfortunately, Seacrest made a gaffe for the first time in the show's history when he failed to introduce Underwood in a recent episode after introducing fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. It's hard to say what exactly prompted that snafu. Underwood, who is one of the most famous Idol contestants, didn't appear all that happy, but we definitely can't say for sure that there's any kind of animosity there.

As for Live! with Kelly and Mark, I'd imagine that viewers will tune in to see Seacrest's latest appearance. I still miss seeing him host with Ripa on a regular basis, but I'm happy that the two are still close.

Before becoming one of the best characters on Curb Your Enthusiasm and turning himself into a sought after comedic character actor, JB Smoove was a writer on Saturday Night Live. He was only there for a couple seasons, but many of the cast members and writers who overlapped with his tenure, talk about the wild ideas he pitched with great fondness. Now I can see why.

Smoove was recently on Kelly Ripa’s podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera. Not surprisingly, the topic of SNL came up, as Ripa hosted the show while Smoove worked there. During their chat, he brought up a sketch he pitched for Johnny Knoxville, and it’s way too good not to share. Apparently he wrote a crime show sketch where the Jackass star would sniff people’s urine and use whatever he smelled to help solve the case. Here’s the elevator pitch he dropped in the writer’s room…

Smoove recounted the old pitch as part of a new pitch he was making to Ripa about what he’d do if he were ever asked to host the show. Apparently, he has a long list of all his favorite ideas he pitched for the show that never got on the air. He wants to act out bits of them during his opening monologue, which sounds absolutely amazing.

During his chat with Ripa, he brought up some other sketches that never made it to the air including Helicopter Family, which is about an entire family of helicopter pilots who all walk all hunched over and shout at each other at a high volume. If you think that sounds hilarious, you’re not alone. Seth Meyers, who was formerly the head writer at SNL, actually loved the sketch idea so much that he separately brought it up during an interview he did with Howard Stern in which he called Smoove the greatest Monday Morning pitcher in the history of the SNL writing room.

Unfortunately, Smoove wasn’t quite as successful with getting his sketches on the air. According to Meyers, it was mostly because so many of his sketches were hilarious ideas that were hard to stretch out for enough time. During the Ripa interview, Smoove said he also thinks he had trouble because he was mostly writing material that he personally thought would be funny and he’d be a good fit in, even if he wasn’t actually a cast member.

SNL has a long history of launching many of comedy’s biggest stars, but that doesn’t mean SNL actually used all those people to their full potential. The show’s alumni rolls are filled with a ton of famous faces who didn’t quite fit including Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr and of course, Smoove’s longtime co-star Larry David who once repackaged his own rejected pitch about replacing an answering machine tape into one of Seinfeld’s most famous bits.

Here’s to hoping Smoove gets his chance to host and we get an opportunity to fully appreciate all these amazing pitches that didn’t make the air. We don't know the rest of the hosts for Season 50; so, there's always a chance we could be in for a huge surprise.

When Ryan Seacrest exited Live with Kelly and Ryan and was later announced as Pat Sajak’s replacement on the 2024 TV schedule as the new Wheel of Fortune host, Kelly Ripa expressed one big concern — Seacrest’s spelling. She brought that up again as he returned to the morning show, taking playful shots at her former co-host, and I’m surprised that she pulled her punch when it came to the easiest target. Wheel Watchers had lots of thoughts last week when the new host of one of the best game shows of all time made what many considered to be his first big flub.

Kelly Ripa Rips On Ryan Seacrest’s Spelling Skills

Ryan Seacrest returned to a pretty familiar set on October 7, when he and sister Meredith Seacrest-Leach were guests on Live with Kelly and Mark. The siblings were there to promote their new children’s book The Make Believers. Kelly Ripa wasted no time in throwing jabs at her longtime friend, joking that it was Seacrest-Leach who had done all the work. The morning show host was also kind (?) enough to ask her former colleague about his new job, as she jested:

Look at Kelly Ripa, going straight for the jugular! Ryan Seacrest owned up to not being the best when it comes to texting but said “on the puzzles I’m OK.” Ripa didn’t miss a beat, responding:

As candid as the Live star can be, Kelly Ripa didn’t pluck the lowest-hanging fruit on the Ryan Seacrest humiliation tree, because just days earlier he’d committed what many Wheel of Fortune fans considered his first big snafu.

Ryan Seacrest Suffers First Blunder As Wheel Of Fortune Host

While there was plenty of concern that Ryan Seacrest would never be able to fill the shoes of one of the best game show hosts in Pat Sajak, fans were complimentary of his debut. Things have been going well for him and his beloved co-host Vanna White, but there was a little bump in the road when it came to the Bonus Round during the October 4 game. Take a look at what went down:

After Cody correctly guessed “Out Of The Way” as the Phrase he was looking for, Ryan Seacrest failed to immediately acknowledge that the contestant had won. It wasn’t an egregiously long pause, but it was long enough for Vanna White to start clapping and then stop to wait for her co-host’s confirmation, which he did by saying:

It’s unknown why Ryan Seacrest paused like that. Was he caught off-guard by the contestant’s quick response or waiting for some kind of official confirmation? It might also have been simply for dramatic effect, but I would hope not, because that 10 seconds goes so fast, and Cody needed to know whether or not to keep guessing.

Many fans sounded off on Reddit, with one calling it a “nightmare” for the contestant and many agreeing that it seemed like Ryan Seacrest was just trying to build suspense. We’ll have to see if similar instances continue to happen or if any other signs of Seacrest’s spelling woes become obvious as the new host gets more games under his belt.

Sean Combs – who’s widely known for his rapper P. Diddy – is embroiled in a legal situation that involves the FBI. The veteran entertainer is being investigated in connection with a sex trafficking ring. As a result, his two United States-based homes were raided by federal agents, while the artist himself has opted to remain out of the limelight at this time. Amid the situation, Live with Kelly and Mark just so happened to air a rerun of the daytime talk show, which featured a moment in which Kelly Ripa says she wants to ride on Diddy’s yacht. Needless to say, that didn’t go over that well.

When And How Did Diddy Come Up During The Episode Of Live?

Married co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are on vacation this week and, as a result, reruns of their eponymous show are being aired amid their absences. According to Page Six, among the syndicated installments was a 2023 broadcast, which featured an interview with acclaimed recording artist Mary J. Blige. The trade captured a clip of the chat, during which a stunning photo of Blige in a bathing suit was shown. The following exchange then took place:

Mary J. Blige: I was in Capri, and I was actually visiting my big brother Puff’s boat.

Kelly Ripa: Next time you go on Puff’s boat, we’d like to!

It should be stressed that the comment from the co-host came well ahead of the various legal issues that have befallen the Grammy winner. However, considering what’s happening now, the optics still don’t look good, and the show itself seems to know this. Page Six reportedly reached out to the WABC-TV-produced chat show to bring up the clip. And, sometime after, it had the interview snippet removed from its official YouTube channel. As of this writing, neither the series nor the company that oversees it have issued a statement on the matter. 

What’s Going On With P. Diddy’s Legal Situation At This Point?

The musical artist and business mogul – who changed his name to Sean Love Combs in 2021 – had his homes in Los Angeles and Miami. (The latter raid actually created some inconveniences for director Ridley Scott, who lives next door.) Diddy’s adult sons were present when agents arrived at the LA abode and, per reports, the two, Justin (30) and King (25) – had lasers pointed at them as they exited the premises. Photographs also showed law officials leaving the home with boxes and bags of items after attempting to get a hold of the rapper’s personal devices. Diddy himself was not present for either of the raids, having reportedly made his way to Antigua on his private jet before they happened. 

At present, the Sean John founder is facing several lawsuits, one of which may involve Jennifer Lopez. The singer, who dated Diddy from 1999 to 2001, was arrested alongside him in connection to a nightclub shooting that occurred in 2001. While Lopez was not charged with any crimes at the time, her former beau went on trial for seven weeks and was not handed any charges. But, now, Lopez may be drawn into recent drama, as a suit filed by Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones makes note of the “This Is Me... Now” singer’s supposed role in the gun incident. 

As the “Bad Boy for Life” rapper’s issues continue, some notable figures have weighed in on the situation and their past experiences with him. One such person is Extra host Tanika Ray, who was once a back-up dancer for P. Diddy. As Ray explained, during her time working with the star, she “knew to avoid him at all costs.”

Time will tell how the slew of allegations and lawsuits facing Sean Combs will play out. What seems evident now, though, is the team at Live with Kelly and Mark is looking to distance itself from the star and his legal entanglements.

The relationship between Ryan Seacrest and the Kardashian-Jenner family goes way back, and it was, in fact, the American Idol host who helped them land Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which impacted the entire reality landscape. But even for someone who knew them before they were famous, it’s safe to say that anybody would want to be on their best behavior when invited into Kris Jenner’s home. Unfortunately for Seacrest, however, he’s got quite the story about clogging the toilet at Kendall Jenner’s graduation party — and the lengths he almost went to to avoid a disaster.

Ryan Seacrest has recalled the embarrassing moment several times over the years, with the first time apparently being a 2019 episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan. The host set the scene by explaining that Kris Jenner has an electronic toilet in her bathroom, which is decorated in all black, from the walls to the floors and the toilet itself. That apparently made it hard to find the already-elusive flush button. Seacrest explained:  

He felt around and ultimately said he found the flush button, except when he pressed it, “the software was messed up,” the water began to rise. He continued: 

I simply cannot imagine the horror of being in Kris Jenner’s house and watching the water rise after trying to flush the toilet. Time is of the essence, too, because you have to figure out how not to let the toilet overflow in just a matter of seconds. I cannot blame Ryan Seacrest for at least having the passing thought that he may have to get hands-on with the situation (even if the thought does make me shudder). 

Thankfully, though, there was no overflow, and when Kelly Ripa asked her co-host what he did about the clog, Ryan Seacrest responded simply: 

As horrified as I am for the surprise that awaited the Kardashians’ cleaning service, I also completely understand Ryan Seacrest wanting to flee the scene as quickly and quietly as possible following the bathroom snafu. Hopefully he made up for it with a nice graduation gift for Kendall Jenner. 

Ryan Seacrest is no longer a part of Live! with Kelly Ripa, but you can still catch him on American Idol at 8 p.m. ET Sundays and Mondays on ABC, before he takes over as the new host of Wheel of Fortune when Pat Sajak retires at the end of the current season. In recent years, Alec Baldwin’s TV appearances were centered almost entirely on his Donald Trump impersonations for SNL, a gig he lost in November 2020, although he also hosted the now-canceled game show Match Game and starred in Peacock’s killer drama Dr. Death. Now, it sounds like audiences can probably expect to see the Emmy-winning actor hitting the small screen in a completely different way in the near future, as he and wife Hilaria Baldwin are apparently giving some serious thought to heading up their own reality TV series, and it’s hard to argue against their reasoning. 

With his eighth child turning 1 in September, Baldwin is heading up quite the large family, having sired seven children in total with wife Hilaria (as well as daughter Ireland with ex-wife Kim Basinger). And with all seven of those kiddos at age 10 or younger, it’s become all the more difficult for the actor to agree to jobs that would take him far away from home for extended productions. As such, it perhaps shouldn’t have been surprising to hear his response after morning TV mainstay Kelly Ripa suggested on her podcast that the family be at the center of their own reality show. In his words:

While guesting on Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, Alec Baldwin talked about having to turn down a TV gig recently over location details, and opened up about how much his career now has to be viewed through the prism of family. Here’s how he put it:

New York is home to enough TV and film productions that Baldwin could probably continue leaning heavily into scripted projects without needing to fly around the country, but it would no doubt require more stringent focus to find the perfect job. On the flip side, fronting a reality show centered on the whole Baldwin clan would allow the Will & Grace vet to stick around the homefront while also bringing in paychecks. 

Not that there wouldn’t presumably be a variety of headaches and setbacks when it comes to having a full camera crew inside one’s house capturing footage on a daily basis. But in a situation where that’s the best case scenario, such headaches and setbacks definitely aren’t deal-breakers.

Another reason why opting into a reality show would be a good idea to Alec Baldwin: it’s become increasingly difficult to go on trips with such a large family, particularly when household staff is also included. He shared why flying has become something of a nightmare, saying:

For all that it would make logical sense for Reality TV to come knocking at the family’s door, it’s Alec Baldwin’s film career that has made tons of headlines in the past two years, by way of the yet-to-be-released western Rust. Back in October 2022, we reported on cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ accidental on-set death by gunshot, with film director Joel Souza also injured in the incident. Though attempts were made to convict Baldwin for involuntary manslaughter, the charges were dropped in April 2023, and the project restarted filming, eventually concluding in May 2023. Things took another turn in October 2023 when it was revealed the case would be heading to a Grand Jury the next month, so the actor may still potentially face some form of consequences.

The way that legal situation plays out will likely have a big impact on whether or not the Baldwin family lands their own reality TV series. In the meantime, fans can look forward to seeing him co-star with Nick Cannon and Mickey Rourke for the action comedy Hollywood Heist.  

As Pat Sajak’s Wheel of Fortune retirement gets closer, it’s hard to imagine him and Vanna White not being on the show together. The duo have been the faces of the long-running game show since 1981, which is definitely a long time. It seems like they are super close too after spending a good chunk of their lives together. However, don’t get the wrong idea about them because friendly reminder, they are just friends and colleagues. If you did think they were married at one point, you aren’t the only one though, because Kelly Ripa thought that for a while.

The longtime letter-turner appeared on Live! with Kelly and Mark to discuss her time on the series and Sajak’s upcoming retirement, which will happen after this current season. Since they’ve been working together for so long, Ripa actually thought at one point that they were married. After White brought up the Live! hosts being married, Kelly Ripa confessed how a dinner party made her realize that the Wheel hosts weren’t actually together (via TV Insider):

Kelly Ripa: For years, I mean, I think I speak for a lot of people, I thought you and Pat were married. Imagine my surprise when Pat came to our house for dinner one night…

Mark Consuelos: And you weren’t there.

Ripa: I was like, ‘Oh my god! Pat and Vanna must have gotten divorced!

It’s hilarious to know that Kelly Ripa genuinely thought the Wheel co-hosts were married and then got divorced. I would have loved to see her reaction when she found out that Pat Sajak and Vanna White were, in fact, never married. It just shows how close the two of them are and that their chemistry is undeniable. Now Ripa is just laughing at the fact she thought that, and she is willing to admit it. She likely isn’t the only one who thought the Wheel hosts were married, or at least dating, but she is probably the only one who learned they weren’t by way of Sajak showing up to dinner without White at his side.

After Sajak announced his retirement, White revealed she thought about leaving Wheel of Fortune. She didn’t know how the show or herself would be able to go on without him. However, she realized she wasn’t quite ready to retire, which is why she went through tough negotiations to get a new and fair contract. She finally landed a new contract, meaning she is sticking around for at least another few seasons. 

When White eventually leaves, whenever that may be, fans already have someone in mind who they want to replace her, and it would be keeping it in the Sajak family. Sajak’s daughter, Maggie, has experience turning letters from filling in for White on a couple of occasions. She’s also the show’s social media correspondent. White also gave her thoughts on Maggie replacing her, noting that she’s “a good replacement.” So you never know what could happen.

Kelly Ripa's former Live! co-host, Ryan Seacrest is set to replace Sajak after his retirement, but it will be hard to match the same energy Sajak had with White. The bond the two of them have is pretty special, and while they aren't actually married, they are close. Fans can continue to see Sajak host Wheel of Fortune on the 2023 TV schedule weekdays on NBC and going through at least early summer 2024.

Wheel of Fortune is going to look quite different after the currently airing season wraps up, with Pat Sajak retiring and stepping down from his longtime frontman role. Ryan Seacrest was already announced as his replacement, making it his first daily hosting gig since he exited the then-named Live with Kelly and Ryan. He appears to be pretty confident about eventually taking over, but his former co-star Kelly Ripa voiced an amusing (but highly relevant) concern she has about Seacrest in that particular capacity. And it turns out any worries she has are probably justifiable, with Pat Sajak getting called out by viewers for allowing a contestant’s misspoken guess to count as a correct answer.

Kelly Ripa appeared as a guest on the podcast Life Is Short, hosted by the current star of Disney+’s Goosebumps, Justin Long, where she talked about chatting with Wheel’s Vanna White, who’s spent quite a few months in 2023 working out contract negotiations (even if she downplayed how hectic it was). The soap opera star-turned-celeb then brought up her biggest concern over Seacrest taking on the highly visible hosting job: his spelling skills, or possible lack thereof. Here’s how Ripa put it:

Both Ripa and Justin Long basically shared the notion that Ryan Seacrest is the kind of endlessly casual and collected celeb that doesn’t seem like he’d ever present a case for his TV bosses to worry, least of all when it’s a hosting position. But it’s rather hilarious that one of his biggest hypothetical personal issues involves the most core element of his upcoming job. If he was terrible with numbers and math? Wheel of Fortune would be a great option. But for someone whose spelling skills have much to be desired? It seems like a good time for a reboot of Classic Concentration, amirite?

As Ripa bemusingly put it: “Spelling counts on that show.” And if Ryan Seacrest isn’t 100% on top of his game in that department, he may find himself the butt of far more social media videos and comments after joining Wheel. To that end, Pat Sajak once again found himself the target of viewer ire after botching a contestant’s answer.

The Wheel Of Fortune Mistake That Fans Got Angry Over

One Wheel of Fortune episode this week featured a round with a Crossword Puzzle theme, where each of the words in the puzzle had to follow “Butter” in a sensible fashion. Inexplicably enough, just as contestant Nadine Cedro was set to try and solve the puzzle, Pat Sajak reminded her of the slightly more strict verbiage in this instance: “Say everything. Don’t add anything.” And yet, when Cedro gave her answer, she did indeed slip up by adding an extra letter to one of the four words she answered with, erroneously guessing “nuts” instead of the proper “nut.”

But rather than recalling his own advice uttered just seconds before, Pat Sajak & Co. allowed Cedro to earn the $1,800 that she’d banked before guessing. Nothing against the contestant for making the mistake — lord knows there have been legitimately terrible answers already this season — but it seems kind of ridiculous for a show with both a host and a judges table to allow what was clearly a flubbed answer to be rewarded. Quite a few Wheel of Fortune viewers took to social media to express their dismay and befuddlement, with the post below summing things up quite perfectly.  

Will Ryan Seacrest need closed captioning to have a better shot at sorting through all the grid-based spelling involved with Wheel of Fortune? Will he need to wear an earpiece so that Vanna White can clandestinely guide him along through the episodes? Will WoF drop its words-and-letters format and replace them with puzzles based entirely on grunts? None of those seem likely. Or smart.

Soap Operas are not usually the first thing we think of when we think of “Prestige Television” but they have been popular since the dawn of TV and without them, some of our favorite stars might not have ever gotten their big break. In honor of that, we’ve compiled quite a list of famous actors who started out in soap operas. 

Brad Pitt (Another World)

There aren’t many bigger stars in the world than Brad Pitt. While he famously made his first mark in pop culture in Thelma & Louise, his first professional, credited acting role came on the soap Another World. The Ocean’s Eleven star played a character named Chris on two episodes in 1987. Little did anyone know just how famous he would soon be. 

Leonardo DiCaprio (Santa Barbara)

Pitt’s co-star in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio, is also one of the biggest stars in the world. Like Pitt, DiCaprio also can point to a turn on a soap opera early in his career as a launching pad. DiCaprio had a smattering of bit parts before starring in Santa Barbara, but it was five episodes on the soap that really got his career moving. 

Demi Moore (General Hospital)

In the ‘80s and ‘90s, Demi Moore was box office gold with films like St. Elmo’s Fire, A Few Good Men, and Ghost. Moore earned a then-unprecedented $12.5 million with her role in Striptease, but she got her start much more modestly as reporter Jackie Templeton in 85 episodes of General Hospital from 1982 until 1984. 

Marisa Tomei (As The World Turns)

Marisa Tomei’s career went into the stratosphere with her Academy Award-winning turn in My Cousin Vinny in 1992. She’s since been nominated for two more Oscars in her lauded career that all started with the role of Marcy Thompson, as a series regular on As The World Turns for three seasons. 

Alec Baldwin (The Doctors)

The Doctors debuted on NBC in April of 1963, on the very same day as General Hospital premiered on ABC. Unlike GH, which is still on the air, The Doctors lasted only a mere 20 years, but like GH, it helped launch a lot of careers. Alec Baldwin was one of those actors who appeared on the soap, as the character Billy Aldrich for a few years in the early 1980s, years before his big breaks would come in Beetlejuice and The Hunt For Red October. 

Kathy Bates (The Doctors)

Another actor who got her start on the oft-forgotten The Doctors is the great Kathy Bates. Bates worked hard while scratching out a living as an actor in New York City. After scoring just one bit part in the movie Taking Off in 1971, it was another 6 years before she would land a big role, this time on The Doctors.

Laurence Fishburne (One Life To Live)

Laurence Fishburne famously made waves as a teenager starring (as Larry Fishburne) in Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece Apocalypse Now. While the role made him famous, his career started years earlier as Josh Hall in One Life To Live. Fishburne was only 11 years old when he debuted on the show.

Jordana Brewster (As The World Turns)

Jordana Brewster is a star in one of the biggest film franchises in history as Mia Toretto in the Fast & Furious movies. She got her start in one of the biggest soap operas in history as well. After a quick one-off on All My Children in 1995, Brewster landed a regular role on As The World Turns later that same year. She remained on the show for 118 episodes over the next six years. 

Shemar Moore (The Young and the Restless)

For over a decade, Shemar Moore starred as Derek Morgan on the beloved Criminal Minds and then on S.W.A.T for six years. Neither was his first long-time role on television, however, as Moore got his start on eight seasons of The Young and the Restless as Malcolm Winters, a role he’s returned to a number of times, most recently in 2023. 

Tom Selleck (The Young And The Restless)

Another actor who got his start on The Young and the Restless is the legendary TV star Tom Selleck. After bouncing around in bit parts for most of the ‘70s. The Blue Bloods star found a semi-regular role on the soap in 1974. He would later own TV in the ‘80s as Thomas Magnum on one of the greatest TV shows of all time, Magnum PI.

Meg Ryan (As The World Turns)

Meg Ryan was America’s sweetheart in the 1980s and '90s. Before she starred in numerous rom-coms, from When Harry Met Sally To You’ve Got Mail, she was Steve Andropoulos’ sweetheart Betsy on As The World Turns. She would play the role for three years, before snagging a role in a little movie called Top Gun, and off she went to stardom. 

Lauryn Hill (As The World Turns)

It’s not just actors who got their start on soap operas. Singer and rapper Ms. Lauryn Hill is famous for her amazing neo-soul album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998, but seven years before that, and before The Fugees, she starred as Kira Johnson on As The World Turns.

Taye Diggs (Guiding Light)

This one is a bit of a stretch because Taye Diggs had already put together a great career on Broadway, starring in the original cast of Rent and other shows. He did, however, get his regular screen time on Guiding Light in 1997, after a couple of smaller parts on TV. 

Julianne Moore (As The World Turns)

Julianne Moore has won a slew of awards in her career. The Boogie Nights star can boast five Oscar nominations and one win, she has an Emmy, multiple Golden Globe and SAG awards, and even one Daytime Emmy, which she won for Best Actress on the soap As The World Turns in 1988.

David Hasselhoff (The Young And The Restless)

Baywatch might have been a soap opera on the beach, but it wasn’t the first time David Hasselhoff starred in one. The Hoff played Snapper Foster (yes, that’s the name of the character) for seven years in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s on The Young and the Restless, before scoring his gig on Knight Rider. While starring on Knight Rider, The Hoff also appeared on one episode of Santa Barbara.

Mark Hamill (General Hospital)

Stars Wars has often been described as a “space opera” so it only makes sense that Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, got his start on a soap opera. The future superstar started smaller, with a role as Kent Murray on General Hospital for a couple of years right before Star Wars became the biggest thing, well, ever. 

Josh Duhamel (All My Children)

Transformers star Josh Duhamel has starred in 39 movies and had roles on 18 TV shows, including Las Vegas and Jupiter Rising, and it all started with a breakout role on ABC’s All My Children in 1999. He starred on the soap opera for a few years, before moving on, but did return briefly in 2011 to reprise his role as Leo du Pres. He even won a Daytime Emmy in 2002 for his performance. 

Kelly Ripa (All My Children)

Kelly Ripa has been everyone’s favorite morning talk show host for years now and over 30 years ago, she was a dancer on Dance Party USA. Her first serious acting gig came in 1990 as Hayley Vaughan on All My Children, a role she would play for more than a decade. Not only did it jumpstart her career, but the soap played an even more important role in her life, as that’s how she met her husband, Mark Consuelos.

Mark Consuelos (All My Children)

That’s right, Mark Consuelos also began his career on All My Children, playing Mateo Santos on the show for six years. The Riverdale star was a huge hit on the show, and like Ripa, returned in 2010 to help celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary. Consuelos and Ripa married in 1996 while starring on the show together and now almost 30 years later are still working together as co-hosts on Live.

Ryan Phillippe (One Life To Live)

From I Know What You Last Summer to Cruel Intentions, Ryan Phillippe played some iconic parts in the 1990s. It was One Life To Live where he landed his first one, though, in 1992. In the ‘00s, he got more serious, with major roles in Gosford Park and Crash, but none of it might have happened with the soap opera casting him as a teenager. 

Amber Tamblyn (General Hospital)

Amber Tamblyn wasn’t even a teen when she landed her first on-screen role on General Hospital in 1995. The 127 Hours star played Emily Quatermaine for six seasons on the soap.

John Stamos (General Hospital)

Before playing Uncle Jesse on Full House, and before playing bongos for The Beach Boys, John Stamos was breaking hearts as Blackie Parrish on General Hospital for three seasons in the early ‘80s. Stamos even earned a nomination for a Daytime Emmy for the role in 1983.

Mario Van Peebles (One Life To Live)

Mario Van Peebles made his permanent mark on film with his direction of the 1991 classic New Jack City. The cult classic was huge at the time, and Van Peebles has been acting and directing in TV and film ever since, but his career really got going a decade prior to New Jack City when he appeared as Doc Gilmore in One Life To Live in 1982 and 1983. 

Hayden Panettiere (One Life To Live)

“Save the cheerleader, save the world” is a now-legendary catchphrase from the TV series Heroes and the cheerleader was, of course, the great Hayden Panettiere. Panettiere had already scored numerous credits before Heroes, including her first role as a five-year-old One Life To Live for 26 episodes in the mid-'90s. She followed that up as Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light for four seasons.

Justin Hartley (Passions)

Justin Harley was part of the cast that made more TV viewers cry than any other as a part of the brilliant ensemble on This Is Us. Hartley got his start probably making daytime TV fans emotional on the short-lived (by soap opera standards) Passions. After becoming a series regular on Smallville, he returned to daytime TV on The Young and the Restless before landing his award-winning gig on This Is Us. 

Robin Wright (Santa Barbara)

In 1987 Robin Wright became part of cinema history with her role as Buttercup in the much-beloved The Princess Bride. It took a few years of starring on the soap Santa Barbara before she would get that breakout role, but she’s been on top ever since, with iconic roles on the Netflix series House of Cards and in movies like Wonder Woman 1984, which is pretty fitting, as that was the year she started on Santa Barbara.

Lindsay Lohan (Guiding Light and Another World)

Lindsay Lohan’s first movie role was actually two roles in 1998’s The Parent Trap. She immediately endeared herself to audiences, and that love only grew with Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. She’s had an up-and-down career since, but like so many others, that career started as a kid on a soap. Two soaps, actually. First, a brief one-off on Guiding Light, with a reoccurring role on Another World for two seasons. 

Kevin Kline (Search For Tomorrow)

Search for Tomorrow is one of those soaps that despite running for more than 35 years, it’s completely forgotten about today. It was canceled in 1986, but it was around long enough for Kevin Kline to make his first on-screen appearance. The classically trained Kline returned to the stage after leaving the show, but in 1982 he found himself in a role in Sophie’s Choice alongside Meryl Streep, and he’s never looked back. 

Tommy Lee Jones (One Life To Live)

Harvard grad Tommy Lee Jones actually got his first role in the classic Love Story but it was a minor “blink and you’ll miss it” type of role. It was probably his 21 episodes on One Life To Live in the early 1970s that really jumpstarted his now-legendary career. 

Tom Berenger (One Life To Live)

Speaking of One Life to Live in the ‘70s, Platoon star Tom Berenger overlapped with Jones for one season on the long-running soap. Berenger played Tim Siegel for 66 episodes from 1975 until his character’s death just after getting married in the 1976 season. Classic soap opera plot!  

While budgets of soap operas might not be that of prime-time TV, there is undoubtedly plenty of talent on these shows, and has been for many years, as this amazing of list famous actors who started out in soap operas proves. 

While the world of late night talk shows is currently in flux due to the WGA writers strike, many morning and daytime shows have been able to continue producing new episodes without as much of a struggle. (Though Drew Barrymore’s impending return certainly ruffled feathers, sparking a personal response from the host.) One such show that’s currently going strong is Live with Kelly and Mark, even though one of its hosts has sparked retirement rumors and conversations in the last year or so. But Mark Consuelos has weighed in with his thoughts on Kelly Ripa’s future, and why he thinks they’ll be sharing the screen together for a while longer yet.

Kelly Ripa stoked some viewer speculation earlier in 2023 when she addressed the general idea of retirement, jokingly calling it her “favorite topic of discussion,” though without offering up a concrete idea of when she might call it quits. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight about his thoughts on where things are going, Mark Consuelos made it clear he doesn’t think any imminent changes are coming for the popular series, though he does say the idea of retirement is indeed a tangible possibility. In his words:

As viewers are well aware, Consuelos stepped up to the metaphorical plate when the show was rebranded in May, following the exit of longtime co-host Ryan Seacrest. And while the married couple’s on-screen chemistry was always a lot for viewers to handle when he’d previously popped in as a guest host, they’ve really come into their own over the months. And even if the Riverdale vet didn’t make it clear that he was having a great time sharing the Live stage, just watching him work would do the trick.

When asked about her retirement thoughts more recently, Ripa revealed that she’s turned down several other hosting jobs over the years, saying she’s more inclined to stick with what she’s good at as opposed to diving into something brand new. It does possibly seem like getting to work with her significant other on a daily basis has kept her interested in the daytime TV game, and fans can only hope that’s the case, since couples as co-workers can be a recipe for disaster.

Mark Consuelos continued, supporting Ripa’s previous comments that she won’t be doing this for the rest of her life, by pointing out how long she’s already excelled with hosting gigs.

Even though Live used to be synonymous with former hosts Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford, Kelly Ripa has definitely earned the right to be the show's signature celeb for the foreseeable future, and if her hubby's instincts are spot-on, fans can look forward to seeing them share stories about getting caught naked for years to come.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: an episode of Live with Kelly and Mark started, and at some point during the episode, Kelly Ripa revealed one or more slightly NSFW details about her and hubby Mark Conseulos’ personal life, sometimes specifically about what he’s packing below. The daytime talk show host has become all the more up close and personal as the years have gone by, and sitting next to her SO every day has led to some choice stories coming to light. And one of the latest involves the Hope & Faith vet finding some unexpected houseguests while walking around in the nude.

When one is chilling around the house thinking that they’re alone, it’s perfectly natural to be in an au naturale state of dress. But it’s also really nice when the unclothed resident’s loved one is up front about any workers who may or may not also be inside the house at any given moment. During a discussion that went from Mark Consuelos’ air conditioning know-how to his reputation for cleanliness around the house, he attempted to boast about maintaining the upkeep for a house he was staying in while working away from the couple’s home. But Ripa clapped that back-patting down by saying:

I’m trying to think of a more awkward and/or more intrusive way for someone to discover that the house they’re currently in gets cleaned by professionals. Perhaps if someone had farted the information to her in morse code, that would be on the same scoreboard, but it wouldn’t take the win. 

They must have been some very quiet housekeepers, all in all, if Kelly Ripa was completely unaware of them before walking out. Or maybe the sound was muffled by all the clothes she wasn’t wearing. Or maybe it’s Ripa’s ears that needed the most cleaning. There’s probably a good joke there somewhere.

When it comes to getting caught awkwardly in various states of undress, Ripa is not a one-incident-and-done kind of woman. It was only recently on her podcast Let's Talk Off Camera when she detailed a pair of experiences where her and Mark's children, or at least one of them, has walked in on them in the act of sex-making. 

The first time was when Lola was eight years old, during a family vacation that was far more stress than relief. Stressing that they were staying in a room with two doors, one of which was known to only lock a certain way, Ripa said there was exactly one point during the trip when the timing worked out for adult hijinks. In her words: 

And then exactly eight years later, on her 16th birthday, Lola again walked into their bedroom as they were getting busy, only this time she was far more horrified by what she'd witnessed. It's almost like that cleaning crew got away lightly by only catching Ripa in the buff.

The newest season of Live with Kelly and Mark begins on Labor Day, September 4, with newlywed Dancing with the Stars judge Derek Hough set to appear as well as the band Shinedown. The rest of the week will include a round robin of entertainers including Melissa Etheridge, Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Gad, Brie and Nikki Garcia, The Bachelorette’s Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko, Phillip Phillips and more.

It’s been 22 years since Kelly Ripa first took her seat next to Regis Philbin as an official co-host of Live! Since then, three other men (and a whole lot of guest hosts) have shared the stage with her on the popular syndicated morning show, and naturally the question has come up — especially with Ryan Seacrest’s recent exit — about how much longer she plans to watch the sun rise with her loyal viewers. The topic of retirement came up again recently, and Ripa didn’t hesitate to share her opinion.

Retirement is not a dirty word, it turns out, for Kelly Ripa, who spoke to the Purist about all things life, love and career. Those three things seem to be intertwined right now, as her husband of 27 years, Mark Consuelos began serving as her co-host on Live with Kelly and Mark following Ryan Seacrest’s final episode in April. When speaking about why she’s stayed on the show for so long and if she thinks about retiring, Ripa also mentioned that she’s had opportunities to walk away over the years. She said: 

It would be hard to blame Kelly Ripa for not wanting to turn her back on a good thing. With two decades of experience on Live!, she’s clearly doing something right, as audiences have stayed with her through all the show rebrandings. It’s not as if the job offers haven’t come, the former soap opera star revealed, but apparently her aversion to risk — and possibly not receiving the right kind of offer — has kept her right where she is.

Her fans certainly aren’t going to complain about that, as she’s offered some consistency to her early-morning audience. But nothing lasts forever, and this isn’t the first time retirement has come up recently. Amid Ryan Seacrest’s exit from Live with Kelly and Ryan, Kelly Ripa admitted that she was “always thinking about retirement.” In fact, she called it her “favorite topic of discussion.”

While the longtime host has said she always thought she’d retire before Ryan Seacrest, sharing the stage with her husband has given her a “little jolt of energy,” so it seems like viewers can breathe easy, at least for now. I’m not sure we’ll see Kelly Ripa continue without Mark Consuelos, so a few big questions remain: How many more years will she stay? Will both hosts make their exit at the same time? Would Consuelos stay on the show without his wife? (He’s certainly been holding down the fort when Ripa goes mysteriously missing.)

Of course, only time will tell, and fans should continue to enjoy her while they can. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are expected to return with new episodes of Live! in September, so keep your eye on the 2023 TV schedule for that and all of the other upcoming premiere dates. 

Live! with Kelly and Mark has seemingly been progressing quite well since former co-host Ryan Seacrest departed the talk show earlier this year. His colleague, Kelly Ripa, and new on-air partner Mark Consuelos are proving they have great chemistry. Though that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise since they’re also married. While viewers seem to be taken with the couple’s dynamic, some have been concerned as of late due to Ripa’s absences. On that note, an insider is shedding light on why the veteran media personality hasn’t been present. 

A number of capable entertainment talents have been filling in for the 52-year-old talk show host since she’s been out. And while those tapings seemed to go well, one can understand why one would be curious about her status. It sounds like fans shouldn’t be fretting, at this point, however. The previously mentioned source spoke to In Touch Weekly and claimed there’s a very simple explanation as to why the star hasn’t be on the air: 

Most would probably agree that Kelly Ripa is one of the hardest-working celebrities in show business. So while the insider’s comments can’t be 100% confirmed at this time, the notion of Ripa simply wanting a break does track. Admittedly though, whenever she’s not on Live!, it does somewhat feel like the show is missing a bit of a spark. Sure, recent guest hosts Anderson Cooper and Maria Menounos did admirable jobs while holding down her post. Yet Ripa just gives off a special kind of vibe that’s endeared her to audiences for years. 

There has been reason to ponder her future on the syndicated chat show in recent months, though. This past summer has seen her make remarks about possibly exiting the program and, while they were seemingly made in jest, her subsequent absences seemed to fan the flames of speculation. Even in April, she talked about her potential retirement, saying it’s her “favorite topic of discussion.” She’s also had other hosting gigs, like on the game show Generation Gap (which is streamable with a Hulu subscription). 

It would be surprising if Kelly Ripa did choose to leave the show by the end of this year, especially considering the program lost one of its hosts just several months ago. Ryan Seacrest allegedly chose to leave Live! because of his other professional obligations. (He’s also since been tapped to host Wheel of Fortune after Pat Sajak’s retirement in 2024.) Seacrest and Ripa seemed to have a good rapport, seemingly forming a family-like bond. A testament to that relationship is that Ripa shared a candidly “inelegant” message with him when they took to the stage together one last time. 

Of course, chances are Kelly Ripa will eventually move on at some point though, based on what the insider said, that time may not arrive anytime soon. One hopes that in the meantime, though, she gets the break she reportedly desires. And with that, she’ll be able to return to the show fresh and ready to go.

It’s been over a month since Ryan Seacrest left Live! and Kelly Ripa’s hubby, Mark Consuelos, took over his job as co-host. Seacrest co-headlined Live! with Kelly and Ryan for six years before ultimately making the decision to leave due to his other priorities, such as American Idol and his Los Angeles-based radio show. The TV personality also plans to open more of his foundation pediatric hospitals across the country over the summer, which will take more precedence than the talk show that films in New York. But even though he's moved on, seeing the show's rebrand following his departure has been weird for him it seems.

When Ryan Seacrest announced he’d be leaving Live!, Mark Consuelos was simultaneously announced to be replacing him. Consuelos and Kelly Ripa seem to have already gotten used to being co-hosts, as the former has guest co-hosted the program on numerous occasions. Seacrest shared some honest sentiments about the new Live! while talking to ET:

The 48-year-old media mogul  put a lot of work into it Live! for those six years, based on what we've seen. He and Ripa seemed to grow very close during their time as co-hosts as well. So it's understandable that the star would still needs some time to get used to the changes. On the upside, he won’t always have to travel to the other side of the country for work and. Of course, he can also always return as a guest star (as he did just recently) and get some of that great-tasting coffee.

During the star's last day on Live!, there were plenty of tears, laughs, and more, as the show detailed some of his best moments. I can imagine that doing a talk show almost every weekday morning can be taxing on a person, especially if they are also doing a lot of other work and traveling for it. So it’s not surprising to me that he came to the decision to leave, though it was still sad to see him go.

Luckily, he is keeping plenty busy post-Live!, particularly with the remaining American Idol installments this season. One could argue that he owes the bulk of his career to the show and, believe it or not, he almost didn't end up hosting Idol when it was first being developed years ago. He was actually asked to audition to be a judge, and the show could've been much different had things panned out that way. Who knows, he may not have even earned the notoriety he now has, which arguably helped earn him his talk show gig.

Since Live! with Kelly and Mark has taken over weekday mornings, it’s been fun to see the dynamic between the titular couple as not only spouses but co-hosts. Kelly Ripa spent a while looking for her last host after Michael Strahan abruptly left Live! in 2016, with the show rebranding to Live! with Kelly for a year as she went through rotating guest co-hosts before Ryan Seacrest finally joined. It's great that she now not only has a great co-host in Consuelos but that Ryan Seacrest -- despite any weird feelings he might have about the rebrand itself -- approves.

Have you ever been watching an episode of NCIS and found yourself asking: Is that Mark Consuelos? Or if you were watching Riverdale or All My Children you found yourself wondering if you were seeing Wilmer Valderrama. In both cases, you’d have the two actors confused, however, it’s a common mistake people make as the That ‘70s Show alum explained. However, he also revealed, to Consuelos I might add, that being mixed up is actually a “great compliment.” 

The two actors spoke with each other, and Kelly Ripa, on a recent episode of Live with Kelly and Mark about their resemblance. Right as Valderrama sat down he immediately joked that he had grown a beard so people could tell the difference between him and Consuelos. However, all jokes aside, he actually takes the public’s common mixup as a compliment, as he said:

Both men are Latino – Consuelos was born in Spain, and Valderrama’s father is Venezuelan and his mother is Colombian. And as the NCIS star pointed out, being able to “represent” their shared culture, and have so many people recognize them is a “gift.” With more and more Latinx TV shows and movies being released, there’s more representation than ever, and both these actors helped pave the way through their work on iconic TV shows, like That ‘70s Show and All My Children. 

They also continue to be beloved figures in the entertainment industry as they both have prominent shows on the 2023 TV schedule, with Valderrama staring in NCIS, and Consuelos taking over hosting duties from Ryan Seacrest, by joining his wife as a co-host of Live with Kelly and Mark. 

On a lighter note, the look-alikes and Kelly Ripa joked about other things the two guys have in common. Ripa noted that both men are great husbands and fathers, and that they both love ice baths, and working out too. She also brought up another fantastic fact, saying:

They then showed a screenshot of the two men, and they both indeed have great abs. Even though Valderrama joked that he wanted to have abs like Consuelos. 

All jokes aside, it was so much fun to see the two men together on the same screen, bonding over the fact that they get mixed up sometimes. It’s also heartwarming to hear how complimented Valderrama is by the small mistake. As he said, it shows just how many ways there are to represent their culture, and they both see this awareness as a “gift.”

This week marks a fairly noteworthy shake-up in the world of morning talk shows, as Ryan Seacrest previously bid an official farewell to his Live stomping grounds opposite Kelly Ripa. Rather than falling into the usual hiatus that comes with major changes like that, she’s jumping right back in the hot seat without missing a beat, with hubby Mark Consuelos having previously been confirmed to take over as the newest co-host. And while she’s no doubt excited to spend more TV time with her significant other, who’d already taken on guest-host duties a time or two, Ripa doesn’t shy away from confirming she’s always in the retirement mindset these days.

With 22 years of morning chat experience under her belt, Kelly Ripa hasn’t quite been on the job long enough to eclipse her former co-host Regis Philbin, but it wouldn’t take too many more years. Assuming she’s interested in sticking around long enough, that is. When talking to EW about Live’s new era, Ripa said that having new blood on the set does give her a boost, but not one big enough to jettison retirement hypotheticals out of her head. In her words:

The great thing about Kelly Ripa is that you know she’s joking there, but that it’s absolutely sitting on a foundation of truth. Anyone in any gig for over two decades is naturally going to put more and more thought into an eventual retirement, even if it’s still feasibly years away. Plus, it might look kinda shady if she decided to permanently call it quits just a week or two after Mark Consuelos takes over full-time. 

Speaking to the longevity of things, Kelly Ripa entertained the idea of retiring in the interim period between Michael Strahan’s exit and Ryan Seacrest’s addition, while saying that the new energy that the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve host brought to the ABC staple kept her interested at the time. And while she didn’t flat-out say she’d have for sure left had Consuelos not entered the replacement talks so quickly, it sounds like he was the core reason why she decided to stick with the Live gig for a bit longer. Here’s how she put it:

Ryan Seacrest exited the show in order to give himself a break from exhausting years of going coast to coast on a weekly basis between Live and American Idol (as well as his radio show). Even if Ripa didn’t adhere to the same kind of hectic schedule, seeing how that affected him on a weekly basis likely had some kind of impact on her, even if it was just solidifying the notion that hosting multiple hit TV shows on different sides of the country is hard. 

One thing that Kelly Ripa is looking forward to post-retirement, whenever that may come, is the idea that she’ll actually be able to watch Live again, which isn’t something she’s been able to do for quite a while now. But whether or not Mark Consuelos will be the connective tissue for the next permanent host remains to be seen. But Ripa definitely believes there are more than enough talented entertainers out there who would be perfect in her role, saying:

For now, though, Ripa will be trading in her little brother/oldest child in Ryan Seacrest for her amorous hubby Mark Consuelos, and the pair will hopefully keep the Live fanbase tuning in every weekday morning in syndication, so check your local listings to see when and where it airs in your area. The last episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan was filled with fun and somber moments as Ryan Seacrest bid farewell to his morning show family. The day was not only emotional for Seacrest but for his co-host of 6 years, Kelly Ripa. However, prior to the American Idol host celebrating his last day with laughter and tears, he and Ripa shared a special moment before the cameras started rolling. Now, the All My Children alum is opening up about the candid but inelegant message she gave her co-host before they headed onto the Live! stage one last time together.

The Live! host revealed the unexpected moment between the two co-hosts to ET as the show celebrated Seacrest’s last day. Ripa’s off-putting comment came as she and the TV host shared their final backstage message before walking out to their table one last time. The TV personality spilled her final words to Seacrest, saying:

While her comment may have been off-color, Ripa was realizing that this was the last time she and Ryan Seacrest would be hosting Live! together. Though the show has been prepared for his departure for some time, that still doesn’t quell the emotions of losing a long-time co-worker. Despite her uneasy feelings over her co-host leaving, she admitted the transition between Seacrest and her husband Mark Consuelos has been seamless. Her words weren’t surprising given the talk between the three friends over dinner before the multihyphenate made his surprise announcement.

Despite this being Seacrest’s last day, there is still room for him as a fill-in host for his replacement Consuelos or Ripa from time to time. Kelly Ripa even threw her full support behind her close friend, saying:

The backstage comment didn’t damper the TV personality’s final day on Live with Kelly and Ryan. Seacrest admitted he was in the dark about what the crew prepared for his final episode. He opened up about getting “very emotional” and having to lean on his co-host a few times. This wasn't surprising given how emotional Seacrest was leading up to his exit. He commented that the daytime talk show was like “no other place in our business” before expressing his gratitude for hosting the show “for six years.”

Following his final day on Live, Ryan Seacrest won’t be resting on his loreals for long. He’s currently in the midst of filming American Idol’s 21st season. He plans to continue hosting his syndicated radio show and his yearly gig, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve, for ABC too. He also plans on doing more charitable work with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation Studios at various pediatric hospitals.

Ryan Seacrest announced earlier this year that he would be leaving Live with Kelly and Ryan — a decision that had apparently been in the works for a while — and the co-host received a standing ovation as he walked on stage, hand in hand with Kelly Ripa, one last time on Friday, April 14. His family was in the audience, fighting back tears along with the two hosts, but the sentimentality didn’t last long. Ripa kicked off the show saying fans had voted on their favorite Seacrest moment, and to no one’s surprise, this was the memory that stood out the most: 

This was no doubt part of the “hazing” Kelly Ripa had teased, saying that his final week would be filled with some of his “least favorite things.” Ryan Seacrest took it in stride, of course, even after the clip was replayed, and he even remarked that Ripa seemed to give him a little push after he started to fall. Ripa countered that he had tried to pull her chair down with his. 

Ryan Seacrest’s fall kicked off the show, but it was far from the only memory shared over the next hour. There was even an interview from 2005 that showed Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos interviewing a frosted-tipped Seacrest. (Talk about a full-circle moment!) In fact, the whole episode was a celebration, with montages of Seacrest’s numerous dance breaks and over-the-top skits with Ripa. First lady Jill Biden even came out with glowing things to say about the host.

Friday’s episode was filled with hilarity and ridiculousness, but there was also the acknowledgment of the end of an era, and Kelly Ripa was brought to tears as she said she was grateful that their success on the show had made their friendship even stronger. She said while the American Idol host’s job often consisted of showcasing others’ talents, she was glad the Live audience got to see how much Ryan Seacrest is capable of. Ripa told him:

Ryan Seacrest Shares Final Words Before Exiting Live With Kelly And Ryan 

Ryan Seacrest admitted that even though his whole career was built around talking, he was having trouble putting into words how much he appreciated being on the show with Kelly Ripa. He told her he knows how fortunate he has been, and he thanked her and the whole crew for a lifetime of memories. In conclusion he told his co-host: 

Kelly Ripa gifted him with some Live with Kelly and Ryan signs and a big basket of merch (the name of the show is changing Monday, so one could say these are collector’s items now!). It wouldn’t be a going-away party without cake, and incoming host Mark Consuelos made a cameo appearance, as he wheeled out a sweet treat for his predecessor. The two shook hands, and Ryan Seacrest made a big production of passing the baton — or a mug with the Live logo, as it were — to the actor, before confetti fell to wrap Seacrest’s time on the show.

The Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host is stepping away after six years, with Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos stepping in as his replacement. Ripa said she had big plans for “hazing” the American Idol host on his way out — with his final episode set to air Friday, April 14 — but what caused Seacrest to decide to leave the show in the first place, making way for Ripa's husband to come on board?

When news broke that Ryan Seacrest was leaving Live with Kelly and Ryan, the decision had already been made to have Mark Consuelos step in as his permanent replacement. In fact, Seacrest’s exit has apparently been a long time coming, as he admitted on the show that he’d stayed far longer than originally planned. He remembered speaking to both Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos about only doing the show for about three years. During a tearful segment of Live, he recalled: 

He may not be part of Live for much longer, but Ryan Seacrest will still have plenty to keep him busy, as he focuses on his jobs on the West Coast. He confirmed his next steps in a lengthy Instagram post, telling his fans:  

That’s certainly still a lot he’s got on his plate, and although he’s reportedly been better about not stretching himself too thin by taking more frequent breaks from Live with Kelly and Ryan, multiple sources told Page Six he often appeared exhausted before leaving the show, and his friends and colleagues have apparently expressed concern. Those absences from the show may also be another reason for his exit, as an insider alleged not everyone has been thrilled about his coming and going. They said:

The decision to feature married co-hosts on what will be Live with Kelly and Mark is an interesting one for ABC, as the network recently weathered Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ relationship scandal on GMA3: What You Need to Know. Ripa seemed all too aware of the situation, as she referenced the drama with an amusing comment during a recent interview.

Kelly Rips foresees a “seamless” transition when her husband steps into the role of her permanent co-host on Monday, April 17. That’s certainly good news for ABC, which parted ways with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes in January after a lengthy investigation into their romantic relationship, which began while both were still legally married to their respective spouses. When asked about the ex-GMA3 co-anchors on What What Happens Live, Ripa had jokes, taking a shot at the scandal by responding: 

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have never been shy about broaching intimate topics, with the Riverdale actor even sharing a wild sex story with viewers on one of his guest-hosting stints on Live when Ryan Seacrest was absent. In fact, one does have to wonder if he will continue to bring the same flirty energy to Live with Kelly and Mark as he does to their cheeky social media posts.

It’s possible, though, that Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes might have trouble finding the humor in their situation, as they continue to figure out what’s next since signing their exit agreements with ABC News. Insiders report that the duo are looking to continue working together on TV, be that on a talk show, docuseries or even a reality show. However, it seems major networks may not be interested, as CBS and CNN have reportedly passed on hiring them.

You’d have to hope the switch from Seacrest — who she amusingly described as both her brother and her oldest child — to her husband was free of any drama.

It can be assumed that Ryan Seacrest is making the transition as easy as possible as well for Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. Ripa said Seacrest and her husband are “like brothers,” and the two men have also expressed those sentiments to each other. Consuelos even caused Seacrest to tear up during a sentimental segment on the show following the announcement, when he said he couldn’t think of a better person to have sat next to his wife for the past six years.

Hopefully the exit will be seamless for Ryan Seacrest as well. The host has apparently been leaning on his girlfriend Aubrey Paige for support, making sure to take time for himself in hopes of avoiding burnout. Allegedly the outgoing Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host has found solace in his girlfriend Aubrey Paige since making his exit announcement. The close insider explained how the model has been a rock for him over the past few years, telling Us Weekly:

Knowing Paige has been there for Seacrest over a rough few years is heartwarming. Despite being very private, it appears the couple is growing during this transitional period for the TV personality. The 25-year-old model seems to be in this for the long haul as the TV personality gears up to depart the syndicated morning show once the current season is over.

Taking time for himself is a nice change of pace for one of Hollywood’s busiest personalities. Seacrest began easing back from his activities after scaring viewers with his viral health scare during an episode of American Idol in 2020. Fans were taken aback as they witnessed the TV host’s face droop and speech slur on air. Soon, he stepped back from his E! red-carpet coverage in 2021 and started spending more time off over the holidays.

Despite his impending departure from Live with Kelly and Ryan, Seacrest allegedly isn’t completely done with the morning show. The insider claimed that the radio show host will still make occasional appearances on the New York-based talk show. After having an emotional exchange on Live, the source spilled how the American Idol host allegedly feels about Kelly Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos being his replacement.

Thankfully, the door is still open for Ryan Seacrest to return anytime. Viewers might even see him pop up on the morning talk show sooner rather than later.

Fatigue has forced the co-host to miss an increasing number of episodes over the past year, which Page Six insiders say ultimately led to the decision to replace him. The trade reports: 

The source pointed out that Kelly Ripa has rarely missed a day on Live in 23 years, but while there have reportedly been some frustrations surrounding Ryan Seacrest’s absences, concern for his health and mental well-being comes first. 

In May 2020, American Idol fans became concerned that the host had suffered a stroke during the live finale. His publicist assured fans there was no medical emergency, but after juggling multiple live shows, Ryan Seacrest did take some time away from both Idol and Live. 

Ryan Seacrest himself even acknowledged that he’d bitten off more than he could chew, as he addressed his viral health scare, saying at the time that he had “burnt himself out.” His step away from Live with Kelly and Ryan is apparently something that’s actually been in the works for a while, in order to avoid any such burnout happening again.  

As with all friendships, Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa’s hasn’t been without some bumps. There was reportedly some friction between the two in the early days of Live with Kelly and Ryan, when the American Idol host allegedly suggested production be moved to Los Angeles, seemingly proving that this bicoastal situation has been less-than-ideal from the beginning. 

That’s all in the past now, however, as there was nothing but love between the co-hosts and Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos when they spoke on Live following the big announcement. The two men declared each other family, and the Riverdale actor brought Seacrest to tears with his kind words. That's a lot of work for one guy, so it makes sense that this might be why he decided to step away from Live.

The inside source alleged the bi-coastal wear-and-tear was getting to Seacrest. They even reportedly brought up his 2020 break from multiple gigs as the alleged reason for him finally leaving the weekday morning show. He was allegedly seeing the signs of burnout again. The insider allegedly said to the entertainment news program:

It seemed like the transition is going well for Ryan Seacrest, and there’s nothing but love between him and Kelly Ripa’s husband and soon-to-be co-host. Of course, Mark Consuelos becoming the newest Live co-host is a natural fit as he’s made numerous appearances on the show since his wife became the host in 2001. Oftentimes, the Riverdale alum would sit in as a substitute host on the days Seacrest had other commitments.

Seacrest has been slowly scaling back on his work commitments in recent years. His 2020 health scare not only alarmed fans but him as well. The moment led to Seacrest leaving behind his yearly coverage of red-carpet events for E!. He seemingly kept his promise by spending the 2021 holiday season with his family. More recently, the 48-year-old TV host has been nurturing his relationship with model Aubrey Paige, where marriage and kids aren’t the focus.

Fans won’t have to worry about saying goodbye to Ryan Seacrest anytime soon as he will continue to co-host Live with Ryan and Kelly until the current season ends. There’s no question of how Ryan Seacrest feels about passing the baton to Mark Consuelos. The two men expressed mutual admiration for each other and the lady who’s been a prominent figure in both of their lives. The American Idol host was then brought to tears when Consuelos thanked him for being “generous to my wife” and for giving him the opportunity. They’ve got quite the love fest going on over at Live, and it sounds like this is a great situation for all involved. As for Ryan Seacrest’s next moves, he will apparently be based on the West Coast full-time now, continuing to host both American Idol and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest (even after this year's snubbing claims). The bi-coastal situation that Seacrest found himself in was reportedly the cause of some drama in the early days of Live with Kelly and Ryan.

That seems to be all in the past now, as the outgoing host spoke to Mark Consuelos like a family member, telling him how happy he was that he would be able to work alongside his wife of nearly 27 years. Ryan Seacrest also revealed that the three of them had spoken before he moved to New York about doing the show for just a few years. Seacrest said:

The Riverdale actor returned the sentiments without hesitation, calling Ryan Seacrest his brother, and as Mark Consuelos expressed his gratitude, Kelly Ripa gripped Seacrest's arm as he started to become emotional at Consuelos' words. The incoming host told Seacrest:

Mark Consuelos has guest-hosted the show before, in Ryan Seacrest's absence, treating fans to a wild sex story at the time, so we'll have to see if this is the vibe he'll bring to Live full-time. The hosting change is set to happen sometime in the next season, though Seacrest's official exit date hasn't been announced. For now, viewers can still enjoy Live with Kelly and Ryan. For years, Live with Kelly and Ryan has entertained audiences with an enthusiasm that only its co-hosts could provide. Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest’s chemistry as morning show jockeys has been something to behold on the 2023 TV schedule and in previous years. Which makes this next announcement rather bittersweet, as it’s now the end of an era with Seacrest exiting the series and an excellent replacement already lined up.

The word came down from Deadline, as it was announced the American Idol personality is leaving the show after six years of service. With a plan to occasionally guest host, Ryan Seacrest makes way for Kelly Ripa’s new co-host: her husband and Riverdale alum Mark Consuelos. In a statement reflecting on his time at what will now be named Live with Kelly and Mark, Seacrest shared the following sentiments: 

As far as his next chapter goes, Ryan Seacrest is still very much a part of the gang at ABC. Maintaining his gig with both American Idol and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, the outgoing Live with Kelly and Ryan host will be basing himself on the West Coast full time. So it's not a total separation between Seacrest and his current employer, but rather an interesting change up.

While this may be a goodbye to regular morning gig, it's certainly not as shocking as the previous changing of the guard. The current ABC morning duo formed after Live former co-host Michael Strahan made his exit in 2017, supposedly under some less than ideal circumstances. Coincidentally, Strahan made his own recent coastal shift, putting an end to his stint hosting The $100,000 Pyramid reboot

That previous exit was enough of a surprise that left Kelly Ripa reportedly furious about the situation.  Ryan Seacrest's departure thankfully seems to be on much better terms, judging by what we see here. In her own statement addressing Ryan Seacrest’s exit, Ripa provided this flattering sendoff:

Though there was still some rumored drama between Ripa and Seacrest in the past, friendship seems to have won out, and we're all the better for it. One thing's for sure: Ryan Seacrest was different from Regis Philbin, as well as Michael Strahan, and the new energy Mark Consuelos will bring to the stage is will undoubtedly change the game yet again. The future is looking bright for Live with Kelly and Mark, but for now viewers can still enjoy Live with Kelly and Ryan. The show airs live Monday through Friday on ABC, at 9 AM ET.

Currently boasting one of the most recognizable faces and bubbly personalities in daytime TV, Kelly Ripa has certainly dealt with her fair share of detractors over the many years since she first joined Live! as co-host opposite the late legend Regis Philbin. The entertainer knocked the dust off of some of her past ups and downs in her memoir Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories, and has opened up quite a bit about the difficult experiences she faced when transitioning from acting to hosting, while also lightly addressing the cold shoulder she’s received from Philbin’s previous co-host Kathie Lee Gifford. And after the former Today host revealed she wouldn’t be reading the aforementioned book, Ripa responded with some surprisingly gracious words.

While appearing on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast with host Amanda Hirsch, Ripa was asked about the recent interview Kathie Lee Gifford gave to Fox News where she declared she wouldn’t be reading the memoir after claiming she saw headlines that spoke ill of Philbin. With a laugh, Ripa responded with:

As the old saying goes, even bad press is good press if it manages to draw enough attention to something that wasn’t earning it beforehand. Granted, Kelly Ripa’s memoir was already a big deal without anyone speaking out against it, but any and all Live! drama tends to draw the spotlight even more so, so it’s certainly reasonable to assume that Kathie Lee Gifford’s negative stances brought additional eyeballs to Live Wire beyond those who were already interested.

Wisely enough, Ripa didn’t dig her heels in with any kind of aggressive retorts, and instead took the high road with a message of thanks. One can assume that losing out on Gifford’s readership stings a lot less when there are hundreds of thousands of other people buying up copies in droves. 

When asked if she truly thought Kathie Lee Gifford would change her tune upon actually reading through the memoir, Ripa doubled down, saying:

Ripa and Hirsch discussed the general lack of negative-skewing headlines about Philbin in the aftermath of Live Wire’s publishing, questioning what stories Gifford would have even seen that inspired her to vow she wouldn’t be reading the book. The Live! host also addressed the weird irony of these topics being covered in her memoir via a chapter that also focused on how to handle situations like this, as far as leaning into an argumentative “media narrative,” or just leaving it by the wayside. I think her “thank you” is a good sign that she’s not pushing for heightened confrontations. 

For what it’s worth, Kelly Ripa has been fairly transparent about still not being completely comfortable as a talk show host opposite Ryan Seacrest. And when it comes to reading headlines about herself, she’s more used to ones hyping up her and hubby Mark Consuelos’ sexual energy. (And is apparently aware when fans engage in ridiculous theorizing, as it went when viewers suspected she was missing a foot.

While it's often Ryan Seacrest getting bonkers reactions for his occasional foibles, Kelly Ripa is no stranger to social media speculation. Before we get into her comments, though, let's first take a look at the Italian vacation pic that inspired the bizarre inquiries. If you quickly glance at the pic without spending a whole lot of time studying it, it appears as if one of Kelly Ripa's legs and feet has been erased from the image. And you better believe that inspired others on Instagram to open inquire about it. Heeding the "Where that other foot at?" call, Ripa took to Instagram Stories along with her eyebrow-raising husband Mark Consuelos to hilariously question why anyone is wasting their time on this. Here's how they started things:

At this point, the also jetlagged Mark Consuelos made a second commendable attempt to quasi-defend those focusing on her feet in the comments, though likely more to soothe allay his wife's concerns rather than actually saying people should be asking about potentially missing limbs. (It's kind of personal anyway, right?) To her credit, Ripa appears more bemused by the whole thing than angry, which led to the second part of the convo.

Mark Consuelos tried again to give the benefit of the doubt in saying maybe all of these people commenting about her feet aren't able to zoom into the picture properly, but Kelly Ripa wasn't hearing it. She was keen on some playful namecalling, however, with her following comments.

Making things all the more hilarious is Kelly Ripa's next story from a little later in the day, in which she reveals that Live with Kelly and Ryan's digital producer Andrea Lizcano is also one of those weirdos, as she challenged Ripa to prove it. Yes, to prove that she has two feet. There are no conspiracy theories too big or too small, after all.

So Kelly Ripa did just that, giving her fans a full view of her bare tootsies while also making a self-deprecating joke for anyone taken aback by the "weirdos" zinger. And to be sure, Ripa had the foresight to realize that people would just say they weren't her feet if she only used that shot, so she brought her phone camera up from her feet to her face in one swoop to ultimately prove that the feet were hers.

Of course, now fans might say that Kelly Ripa was just using her dress to somehow hide someone else who really has two feet, and we're just all a bunch of rubes for falling for it. Regardless, it's time to hoof it, so remember to tune into Live with Kelly and Ryan every weekday morning in syndication as it slowly returns to normal with the same number of Ripa's feet that appear in every other episode.

Kelly Ripa is one of the most well-known talk show hosts and while she’s been in the game for quite a while now, that doesn’t mean she has the easiest time in the world keeping audiences entertained each weekday morning. Now, Ripa has opened up about why she still isn’t quite comfortable hosting her long-running talk show, and it’s as relatable a reason as can be.

For two decades now, the All My Children actress has been hosting Live!, and while she’s had three different co-hosts along the way - Regis Philbin, Michael Strahan and Ryan Seacrest - she has stayed put. Despite being a TV entertainer in one way or another since 1986, though, Kelly Ripa admits to People that being in front of the camera is not something she particularly enjoys, and it's not a feeling that only recently came to light, either. In her words:

With Kelly Ripa being in the spotlight for so long with her hosting and acting gigs, not to mention her famous husband, one might think she would have gotten used to it by now. But spending one's mornings in front of both live audiences and millions of TV viewers isn't an ideal situation for everyone. While becoming the center of attention is no doubt a goal of many entertainers, Ripa confessed how she really feels about all of the attention, saying:

Since Kelly Ripa has been hosting for so long, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising if she would choose to exit Live! With Kelly and Ryan at some point in the near-ish future. But since she does get along with her current co-host Ryan Seacrest seemingly a lot better than former co-host Michael Strahan, it’s possible she'll stay on in the hosting role until a major catalyst causes her to leave. It is interesting that Ripa still isn’t comfortable in front of the camera, and perhaps it will inspire others to realize that not everyone on TV is solely motivated by the limelight. The fact that she’s stuck to the business for so long shows how passionate she still is, despite some of the feelings she has about her job.

Like many other daytime TV shows, Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa recorded new episodes from the comfort of their homes (and sometimes their vacation homes) during the pandemic. When the two got back to the studio, they did so with plenty of safety measures in place, including a social distancing safety measure that had the creative team using unique camera angles to make it seem like the two hosts were sitting closer to each other than they were on Live! with Kelly and Ryan each day.

It’s a big month for Live! with Kelly and Ryan as the two daytime hosts are celebrating a milestone toward getting back to normal on their daytime TV show. The production finally brought back the original furniture so the two could sit side-by-side once more and Ryan Seacrest shared the news on his Instagram Story, along with the exchange he had with Kelly Ripa as they sat down next to one another for the first time in months.

This week, all that changed as Live! With Kelly and Ryan’s own Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa both shared looks at getting back to normal, which included two chairs set up right next to one another on the set. Things aren't totally back to the "old" normal, as Seacrest put it, given those on set who are not on air are still masked up, but the social distancing measures seem to have been relaxed.

The two daytime hosts also chattered about the lack of social distancing moving forward, noting:

Still, it was a little off-putting to the two hosts, who had a moment of contemplation and joking around with the audience before settling back into their old chairs. Why are the setup changes such a big deal? As noted prior, this is in stark contrast to when the show got back to the studio in September of last year. In fact, at that time, the two hosts were socially distanced and then spliced together for the small screen, an effect that would occasionally be ruined when Kelly Ripa or Ryan Seacrest moved a little too close to the center. The stage has looked very different over the past TV season.

But this week, as the show got back to normal, the two went on to joke that it’s been so long since the set of Live! With Kelly and Ryan was normal that they hardly recognize the furniture, though Ripa told Ryan afterwards it’s definitely the furniture they had been using pre-pandemic.

To note: the chairs are certainly the same as they were pre-pandemic, as you can see in the top image on this article or in other stories about Live from before the pandemic. You’d think Ryan Seacrest would be more likely to remember the furniture given that time he actually fell out of it on live TV a couple of years ago, but I guess not.

Every day, it almost seems as if there’s a new milestone to the U.S. approaching normal in stores, restaurants and even on TV. I’d expect that to continue in the coming months as TV gears up for the 2021-2022 season. This week marks the second one in a row in which talk show host Kelly Ripa didn't show up for her usual morning spot opposite Ryan Seacrest in the syndicated series Live with Kelly and Ryan, and fans are understandably more than a little confused by her extended and largely avoided absence. Familiar faces have filled in, and good times continue to be had by all, but that doesn't explain why Ripa has been gone in the first place. Thankfully, the explanation falls on the more innocent side of things.

Without any noticeable forewarning, Kelly Ripa was replaced by occasional guest host Maria Menounos, who served as Ryan Seacrest's co-host on both Monday, March 22, and Tuesday, March 23. Not a lot of insight was given into the matter, and it was slightly more confusing when Ripa followed that up with an Instagram Stories post to celebrate National Puppy Day on March 23, but without mentioning being away from Live. After that, she gave her husband Mark Consuelos some birthday love on Instagram, which is a big clue for what's likely keeping her busy.

As it happens, Kelly Ripa is no stranger to taking off the final two weeks in March as vacation, having done just that for the past 20 years or so for the purpose of spending time with family. And for the past ten, those vacations have coincided with the birthday of her self-reportedly well-endowed hubby and occasional Live co-host. The Blast reports that Ripa will indeed return to co-hosting Live with Kelly and Ryan once her vacation is complete, and fans can get back to their mystery-free viewing routines.

Maria Menounos sat in for Kelly Ripa for the first two days of the week, with guests that included Joe Manganiello, Bear Grylls (and his mustache), and Jessica Simpson. Wednesday and Thursdays episodes featured comedian Ali Wentworth and guests Lauren Graham and Holly Robinson Peete. Finally, Harry Connick Jr. filled in as guest host on Friday's episode, with Grey's Anatomy star Chandra Wilson as the guest.

As for the second week of Kelly Ripa's annual vacation, viewers apparently won't be watching another lineup of celebrity guest hosts. Instead, local affiliates will be airing daily repeats of episodes that aired in February. The producers obviously couldn't get Mark Consuelos to take her place, seeing as how he's a big part of why she's out in the first place, so that wouldn't have been a successful way to handle. Still, it's always fun to see who they bring in during times of need, making repeats the worst kind of necessity a TV show can have.

Meanwhile, here's hoping Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have a lovely time celebrating his [redacted number] birthday!

In the annals of daily talk shows, Live with Kelly and Ryan falls on the less extreme side of the spectrum, with hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest generally adhering to the kind of clean, good-vibes fodder that viewers of all ages can enjoy. Of course, that doesn't mean that all of those viewers are particularly chaste in thought, as evidenced by a revolving door of salacious fan comments on a social media post Ripa recently shared that included pics of her husband Mark Consuelos. More specifically, the comments were aimed directly at Consuelos' penis bulge, and the couple seemed to be quite amused by the attention.

First things first, let's talk about that social media post. With her spooky holiday spirit fully intact, Kelly Ripa took to Instagram to give fans some treats by sharing a selection of family pics with everyone donning Halloween costumes. As cute and amusing as the photos with Ripa and Mark Consuelos' kids are, as well as Ripa and Ryan Seacrest's on-air dress-ups, the most enjoyed pic in the bunch was apparently the final shot, in which Consuelos and restaurant mogul Bruce Bozzi are dressed as the lead characters from the classic TV show CHiPs. (Also a movie.)

The couple hasn't exactly shied away from talking about their sex life, and it was only earlier this year when Ripa gave all of her thirsty fans a taste by sharing a video of Consuelos exercising.

Even if he's seeing shadows, at least he's not seeing dead people, even if there's a certain amount of rigor mortis potentially happening. Hmm, I probably shouldn't have gone there with it, but what are you gonna do?

COVID-19 has heavily changed up the dynamics of studio-based TV shows, as many have now instituted stringent rules in order to keep people safe. Across the television landscape, these safety measures range from having virtual audiences to keeping reality competition judges spaced eight feet apart. Live with Kelly and Ryan is one of the many shows that is now getting back to work following the months-long industry shutdown. Upon its return, the creatives behind the scenes found a cool visual effect that tricks audiences, and Ryan Seacrest admits that he was surprised by the move.

In the actual studio, Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa are seated eight feet apart when filming Live. However, the show implemented a split-screen graphic effect that gives the illusion that the two are sitting closer together than they actually are. Despite being one of the creative forces behind the talk show, Seacrest had to admit that even he was unaware of how he and Ripa were being presented on screen:

Seacrest also explained to The Hollywood Reporter that he had to get used to being eight feet apart from Ripa. And while he has somewhat gotten used to this “new normal,” there are still times in which it can make for hilariously awkward situations:

Making TV in the age of COVID-19 certainly is a feat, to say the least, yet it’s good to see that hosts and crews are charging through the situation with positivity. And ultimately, these changes will only benefit those involved with the productions.

It’s been especially interesting to see audience-driven shows move forward without them. The Price is Right, for example, is experiencing the lack of an audience for the first time in its nearly 50-year existence. Still, the producers believed that it was the correct call in order to keep host Drew Carey, the crew and the contestants safe.

Saturday Night Live has also put COVID safety measures in place, though the show is continuing with a (paid) live audience. With this, show creator Lorne Michaels recently explained that an audience is crucial when it comes to comedic timing.

Television is going to look a lot different for a while but, in the meantime, as we watch our favorite shows, we can take comfort in knowing that they’re being produced with safety in mind.

Beloved TV icon and longtime daytime host Regis Philbin passed away on July 24 due to natural causes, just shy of his 89th birthday. It didn't take long for some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry to honor Philbin. Kelly Ripa, who hosted Live with Regis and Kelly from 2001-2011, appeared in a 20/20 special honoring Philbin, and she shared what she feels his legacy will be.

Visibly emotional as she reflected on Regis Philbin's life and career, Kelly Ripa said:

Regis Philbin's long career makes it no surprise that Kelly Ripa found it difficult to measure his legacy. After spending ten years in front of the camera by his side as his final Live co-host, Ripa has a unique perspective on his "contribution to humanity." He certainly worked many years to bring laughter to viewers.

He spent decades working his way up through showbiz, starting as an announcer for The Tonight Show back in 1962 and getting his big break more than 20 years later. In 1985, Regis Philbin was paired with Kathie Lee Johnson (who would become Kathie Lee Gifford after marrying Frank Gifford) for The Morning Show, which would ultimately become nationally syndicated and retitled as Live with Regis and Kathie Lee.

When Kathie Lee Gifford left the show in 2000, she was replaced by then-All My Children star Kelly Ripa, with whom Regis Philbin shared hosting duties until he ended his time on Live in 2011. During his daytime TV work, he also served as host of America's Got Talent Season 1, immortalized the phrase "Is that your final answer?" as host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, had a Bronx street renamed in his honor, and more.

Kelly Ripa showed off what she learned during her time with Regis Philbin when she continued on the show with some new co-hosts. Although Live with Kelly and Michael didn't last too long before Michael Strahan left, Ripa found more success with current co-host Ryan Seacrest. She took to social media to pay tribute to Philbin on behalf of both her and Seacrest with a festive photo. Take a look:

Regis Philbin, the legendary talk show host became a staple of daytime television through ABC, has passed away. The TV icon reportedly passed away of natural causes. He was 88 at the time of his passing and was only a month shy of his 89th birthday.

Regis Philbin’s family confirmed the news of his death to People through a statement. In the message, the family expressed their memories of the late Philbin and thanked his fans for supporting him over his lengthy career:

Born on August 25, 1931, Regis Philbin was born and raised in the Bronx. He would eventually attend the University of Notre Dame where he would earn a degree in sociology in 1953. From there, he would serve a stint in the Navy.

After the Navy, he worked as a page on The Tonight Show and would also serve as an announcer on the program in 1962. Philbin would eventually headline a self-titled in San Diego before joining The Joey Bishop Show as the host's on-air sidekick.

Philbin’s career would take him to different markets where he would serve as either a TV or radio host. However, his biggest break would come in 1985 when he was paired with Kathie Lee Johnson (eventually Gifford) for The Morning Show. By 1988, the show would become nationally syndicated and be titled Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee. During its run, the two would host would be jointly nominated for eight consecutive Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Talk Show Host from 1993 to 2000.

Gifford would eventually leave the program in 2000 and was replaced with Kelly Ripa in 2001, leading to the show being renamed Live! with Regis and Kelly. The two would forge a strong partnership that would last until Philbin departed the program in 2011. He would ultimately be replaced by former NFL player Michael Strahan.

Aside from his work as a talk show host, Regis Philbin also became a staple of primetime television as the original host of ABC’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? which would become an instant hit for ABC.

Regis Philbin earned numerous awards over the course of his career, including a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host and a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host. He was also awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003.

Regis Philbin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joy Philbin and their two daughters, J.J. and Joanna Philbin. He is also survived by daughter Amy from his first marriage to Catherine Faylen.

First, Kelly Ripa revealed she’s been quarantining from an exotic location, which didn’t make people super happy given fans thought she’d been in New York. Now, rumors are swirling that American Idol and daytime star Ryan Seacrest is overdoing it and starting to worry parent network ABC.

Why is the parent network allegedly worried? It all surrounds Ryan Seacrest taking an unexpected day off. If you know anything about Seacrest, you should know this is a big deal. Ryan Seacrest has a popular radio show and he’s on daytime TV. He has myriad responsibilities and he’s such a hard worker in the business, there was even speculation his work schedule may have contributed to his break up with longtime girlfriend Shayna Taylor.

According to a Page Six report, Ryan Seacrest is so reliable that when he took an unexpected day off on Monday, there was allegedly “panic” at ABC that he wasn’t going to be there.

The news comes just a few days after Ryan Seacrest seemed to be behaving super oddly during the American Idol finale on parent network ABC. The moment was so notable that multiple people watching expressed concern he might actually be having a stroke. The daytime TV and reality competition host later blamed “exhaustion” for what happened, but still came back to work on Live with Kelly and Ryan – at least until his unexpected absence.

Look, the whole thing worked out fine. Kelly Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos stepped in and was a perfectly delightful addition to Live with Kelly and Ryan in the episode, which featured David Spade and one of the “Working Heroes” segments the show has started doing. Even though it was a last minute thing, Consuelos is an actor and is basically the perfect fill-in for this sort of thing, although he certainly doesn’t have the same presence and amazing affability Ryan Seacrest has.

At the end of the day, Ryan Seacrest may be an entertainment staple, but even he does not have limitless energy and it’s generally a good idea to take a break when you are tired. Plus, if Seacrest is as “exhausted” as he previously admitted to being, now is the time for a break. The good news is that the report also indicates that Live with Kelly and Ryan is expected to take a hiatus this coming month, so all will hopefully end with no one worried about Seacrest looking as if he had suffered a stroke again.

Additionally, the actor seems to be trying to relax or at least make it very clear he’s trying to take care of himself, as he is doing things like planting strawberries so he can make protein shakes.

Meanwhile, here’s hoping Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos can finally relax while still on vacation in the Caribbean instead of her having to secretly Zoom in to Live with Kelly and Ryan.

Hot on the heels of rumors about Ryan Seacrest's health, the other co-host of Live With Kelly And Ryan now has a controversy of her own. News is out that Kelly Ripa and family have been quarantining in the Caribbean, and not in her New York City apartment like many fans had believed. The reveal has angered some viewers, who think the information was something the host should've disclosed since the show had begun filming remotely.

As many are aware, New York City is one of the major hot zones for COVID-19. Many may have been concerned about Kelly Ripa's health and well-being during the city's lockdown, but now feel a bit betrayed knowing that she's been hanging out on a tropical island. Quarantine in paradise, even if it is still quarantine, just doesn't seem like as much of a struggle to those on Twitter.

The big issue doesn't seem to be that Kelly Ripa isn't in New York City, but that she has allowed Live With Kelly And Ryan viewers to believe she was there when she and her family simply extended their vacation and chose to wait out the pandemic rather than return home. As viewers have said, at no point had Ripa explained, since March, that she was out of the country during this whole ordeal.

Kelly Ripa may have caught some flak for admitting she was on vacation from the start, though it's not necessarily like her family planned a trip knowing what would happen. Now that there have been weeks worth of shows where there's evidence both she and Ryan Seacrest carefully chose their words to avoid lying about where she is, one can't help but think the fallout is much worse. People are upset, and perhaps even more upset they didn't find out on the show.

Some people are so hot about this controversy, they're threatening to swear off Live With Kelly And Ryan for good. No one likes being lied to, and it's clear from the litany of negative tweets that viewers do feel like they were lied to, even if it was a lie of omission.

Not everyone is anti-Kelly Ripa in this controversy, however, as there are those who believe Ripa had no obligation to inform her viewers about her whereabouts. This is an international pandemic after all, so it's not like just because she's not suffering quite like those in New York, she doesn't have her own problems.

It's hard to say how this controversy will ultimately impact Kelly Ripa or Live With Kelly And Ryan as viewers are still plenty fired up. Only time will tell if Ripa will be able to move on from this controversy, or if her actions in the days that come will win back the viewers she angered.

While some TV programming has had to shut down fully given social distancing rules, other shows have been able to continue remotely. This includes daytime and late night shows, which have gotten into the habit of communicating with interviewees on Zoom. Because of this Live with Kelly and Ryan has been able to keep going on the airwaves with a few minor changes. What you might not know, however, is that Kelly Ripa has secretly been filming from the Caribbean.

Just call her the swashbucklin’ lead of Pirates of the Caribbean: Tan Women Tell No Tales. Seriously, I’m impressed Kelly Ripa kept this a secret for so long. I guess I’ve seen her filming in lots of brightly colored prints and seemingly gauzy outfits but I certainly did not put two and two together.

Still, it’s a thing. Kelly Ripa announced during an ABC Employees Town Hall (via People) that the plan wasn’t to remain in isolation in the Caribbean, but like many of us in these times, she, her husband Mark Consuelos and the kids were rather “stuck.” She noted:

Kelly Ripa’s a team player and she’s always clearly been someone who takes her daytime TV job seriously – we saw that during the Michael Strahan brouhaha. She says after she had a conversation with her new co-host Ryan Seacrest about next steps, they ultimately kept the daytime show going for the fans.

Nothing has been usual about these circumstances, including the video and audio quality of daytime and late night talk shows. People have popped in and out of these videos. One memorable interview with Daniel Radcliffe with Stephen Colbert had no audio coming through at all. People have been patient and found humor through all of these things.

Not that Kelly Ripa’s complaining, but if your “very unusual circumstances” include filming on a tropical island, things could be worse. She said she’s particularly “grateful” to have her children with her during the time away. Honestly, everyone is facing some sort of challenge or inconvenience in their lives during these times, and an extended vacation with your entire family I'd imagine could still get exhausting at times, particularly when you are trying to work and missing your own bed and stuff.

Comparatively some of us are shelled up in tiny box-like apartments with their families. Some people have to put their lives on the line every day while others have been holed up alone for months now and may be seeing their mental health suffer as a result. We are all facing different challenges and it’s nice Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest ultimately are trying to keep a semblance of normalcy in our lives – even if one of them could be relaxing with their family and the other has been accused of having a stroke lately.

In April 2016 Live with Kelly and Michael's Michael Strahan, who had been hosting the show for about four years at that point, surprised the audience with the announcement that he would be leaving that particular morning show gig behind for a full time position on Good Morning America. There had already been rumors of a rift between him and co-host Kelly Ripa, and his (seemingly sudden) departure turned that talk up to 11, because Ripa wasn't told about the fact that Strahan would be leaving before it was announced on the show.

Basically, the whole business ended up being kind of messy for a while, with Kelly Ripa being so annoyed with not being told that she took a sudden break from the show, and Michael Strahan eventually leaving four months earlier than originally planned. Whatever was going on behind the scenes at Live with Kelly and Michael, though, Strahan does agree that the way the situation was handled wasn't kosher. He was asked recently if his departure was "sloppily handled," and here's how he responded:

According to what Michael Strahan told The New York Times Magazine, leaving Live with Kelly and Michael behind wasn't even his idea, but a request from the people who were running ABC at the time. Strahan had been working on Good Morning America on a part time basis for two years at that point, and there was some thought that major shakeups were going on that might have led to the whole Live with Kelly and... format being tossed out. Luckily for fans, that didn't happen. Ripa is happily hosting daily with Ryan Seacrest now, while Strahan is plying his trade on Strahan, Sara and Keke.

For all of his knowledge that his transition to GMA was bungled, Michael Strahan doesn't pretend that all of his time spent working with Kelly Ripa was the best, but he does have good things to say about how Ripa, and others, helped guide him in the morning show game. When he was asked about authenticity on morning television, with regards to the fact that the tension between himself and Ripa never showed up on screen, here's what he said:

Michael Strahan went on to say that they taught him how to craft a story out of whatever he had done the night before, even if it was just as simple as getting a glass of water, so that he could help entertain the audience. Even though it sounds like they haven't spoken in a long time, Strahan also noted that Ripa is "brilliant in that way" and says he has total respect for how good she is at her job.

In the annals of television hosts, few have come across as ceaselessly professional and charismatic at Ryan Seacrest, who shows off his affable qualities on a daily basis as part of the daytime talk show Live with Kelly and Ryan. Of course, even the most proper TV personality will occasionally have a momentary relapse, and Seacrest became all of us this week when he flopped backwards out of his chair in the midst of a Live episode.

For the Live with Kelly and Ryan episode that taped on Tuesday, January 7, the celebrations got a little out of hand as the one co-host got a little out of his chair. Check out the video below, which was shared in good humor by Ryan Seacrest himself.

While the Travel Trivia section of Live with Kelly and Ryan had its plusses, the talk show was granted one of its most classically viral moments yet whenever Ryan Seacrest went jubilantly overboard in trying to secure some big yellow and silver balloons. Gravity had very different plans for that interaction, however, as Seacrest's quick movements knocked his chair off balance, and he went tumbling backwards with arms flailing.

It's just like Jack and Jill, only if Jack's crown was round and floated, and if Jill did not make any moves to tumble down after him. Also, the whereabouts of a water pail weren't revealed, but it's essentially the same as the nursery rhyme. Or not.

Thankfully, Ryan Seacrest wasn't injured in the fall (or else this piece and many other reactions to it would appear quite disdainful), and he came out of it a lot more amused and jovial than many other people would have been. To the point where his laughter could be heard even before Kelly Ripa composed herself enough to ask if he was okay. He even went so far as to complete the act of grabbing that yellow balloon, joking in the end that he finally got it.

Here's hoping it was all worth it. And I'm sure it was, because look how shiny! [laughs mirthfully] It's a wonder nothing like this happened during his latest New Year's Eve special, where there were likely more intoxicants involved.

Seacrest shared a more slowed down version of the clip in an Instagram story, and also joked in his caption that it was his first big fumble of the new season. Unfortunately for the American Idol frontman, though, the NFL is already heading into the divisional round of the playoffs, so Seacrest is out of luck there.

But in the spirit of the above stage fumble, here's the greatest/worst blooper in NFL history:

Ryan Seacrest should feel as lucky as the rest of us that we will never have to suffer through such a monstrous faux pas as the butt fumble in our own personal lives. If he plays his cards right, that luck should hold out so that he doesn't ever take a backwards spill on live TV again. But I mean, once you bring out the shiny yellow and silver balloons, you might as well also bring the tranquilizer darts, because Seacrest is gonna tear shit up.

The Major Difference Between Regis Philbin And Ryan Seacrest As Co-Hosts, According To Kelly Ripa

Kelly Ripa has experienced her fair share of co-host drama during her years on the ABC daytime talk show circuit, and the tension from the split with Michael Strahan was still going strong as recently as early 2019. The sailing with Ryan Seacrest at her side on Live with Kelly and Ryan has been seemingly smooth, but her husband stepped in for Seacrest for a recent broadcast, and the result was the audience hearing a wild sex story courtesy of Mark Consuelos.

Of course, Kelly Ripa wasn't upset that Mark Consuelos was literally sharing bedroom secrets with both the studio audience and the millions of people watching from home. He started the story, and she pitched in to help with the details. Consuelos kicked off the conversation by revealing that he and his wife started their daughter Lola's birthday off on a bit of a sour note. Why? Well, poor Lola walked in on her parents having sex on what just so happened to be Father's Day.

Well, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos clearly aren't embarrassed by their sex life, if telling the story of Lola's birthday morning is any indication. The husband and wife seemed a bit divided on whether or not Lola knocked on their bedroom door, although they did agree that Ripa wasn't entirely in the mood and was -- in Consuelos' amused words -- "going through the motions." On the one hand, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos could have kept this incident a family secret and simply bantered about non-sex-related topics while Consuelos was in for Ryan Seacrest. On the other hand, how else could they have defended their honor? Ripa was downright indignant when Consuelos suggested that Lola really did knock on the door, as she clearly remains convinced that their daughter barged right in without knocking.

Whether she knocked or not, it sounds like Lola learned her lesson about entering her parents' bedroom without their clear invitation. As funny as the story is, I do have to feel for Lola. That's not how anybody would want to kick off their 18th birthday. Still, at least her siblings can apparently relate to how it feels to walk in on their parents!

Honestly, everything about this story was fun for me, and I usually am not a fan of anything that can lead to secondhand embarrassment. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are so charming in the telling of the story and so openly unabashed about the entire fiasco that the clip is worth a rewatch. If you ask me, Mark Consuelos is welcome to step into Ryan Seacrest's shoes whenever Kelly Ripa's usual co-host can't make it to a taping!

Of course, Mark Consuelos is likely to be busy with Riverdale when that show returns with a new season on The CW, although Riverdale became a bit of a family affair in Season 3. Kelly Ripa joined her husband on screen to play his character's mistress, and their son actually played a younger version of Consuelos' character for a flashback episode. Can Lola land a character next? Nothing is ever too weird for Riverdale, really.

We'll have to wait and see. While Mark Consuelos presumably won't be back as Hiram Lodge until Riverdale returns for Season 4 in the fall, Kelly Ripa can be found during the days on ABC's Live with Kelly and Ryan. Her regular co-host will undoubtedly be back and delivering his half of the banter, but at least fans got some fun out of Consuelos subbing for him. April will mark three years since Michael Strahan announced he was leaving the morning talk show Live with Kelly and Michael. Speaking out now, Strahan has revealed that he and Kelly Ripa are still not on good terms. While sharing what he learned from the experience surrounding his exit, Strahan said:

Michael Strahan revealed the status of his and Kelly Ripa’s relationship to Time. One slight silver lining is that Strahan says that he and Ripa have not spoken in a “long time.” So, there is no definitive time frame. Hence, it may not be too long. Just... not very recently.

The apparent issues between the pair stem from Michael Stahan’s 2016 exit from Live. That year, he received an offer from GMA to join the morning show in a full-time capacity, which he accepted. After the announcement, Kelly Ripa was absent from from Live for longer than initially expected, before eventually returning.

The ensuing drama made for lots of headlines. Later on, Kelly Ripa weighed in on why people were drawn to the morning show drama between her and Michael Stahan. At the time, she expressed the sentiment that people could identify with being “left out of major decisions” and “conversations.”

Whatever the origins of people’s fascination with the morning show shake-up, both Michael Strahan and Kelly Ripa have moved on. Strahan is going strong on GMA with ABC making him the co-host of the show’s third hour, alongside Sara Haines.

Michael Strahan co-hosted Live for almost 4 years, joining the show in September 2012 to replace Live’s original outgoing host Regis Philbin. After announcing his departure in April 2016, Strahan ended up leaving Live sooner than initially thought.

Following Michael Strahan’s exit, Live went on a vast search for his replacement. The show ultimately filled the co-host chair with Ryan Seacrest, leading to Live becoming Live with Kelly and Ryan.

When the television personality was online supporting her husband, Mark Consuelos, she dealt with an inconsiderable comment which prompted the Live! With Kelly and Ryan host to write back a pointed retort. To be more specific, in the initial comment, one social media user claimed Consuelos should let Ripa go because she was "too old" for him -- even though they are both the same age. Well, it didn't take long before Kelly Ripa responded, and she made sure the person on the other end of the line got an earful of what she had to say.

As it was reported by Cosmopolitan, Kelly Ripa wasn't too happy when she saw this comment under Mark Consuelous' recent Instagram post, which was a #HeForShe post, which is related to gender equality -- notably within the workplace. Ripa said she is proud of her husband, and that's when she got the following retort from a social media user, one who wasn't afraid to claim that Ripa and Consuelous should apparently see different people now.

This comment is rude and ill-considerate for a number of different reasons, and Kelly Ripa wasn't afraid to tell the social media user a thing or two.

Ruthless. Evidently, if you're going to attack someone else's marriage for seemingly no reason, you should at least make sure your grammar is in check. Suffice to say, Kelly Ripa won this round. It's very inconsiderate to make such comments to other people, so Ripa wasn't afraid to get mean.

It should be noted that this recent outburst was not the first time Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have responded to inconsiderate comments from Instagram users. For example, six months earlier, Ripa posted a picture of herself in a bikini, which some people criticized the talk show host for likely due to her age. Such is the Internet. It didn't take long for Consuelos to step in and give the rude commenters some criticism of his own. So, let the point be made clear: if you're going to criticize Kelly Ripa and/or Mark Conseulos online, you better be ready to hear from them directly about it.

So, if you're not nice to Kelly Ripa and Mark Conseulous, they're not going to be nice to you. Make a note of that, social media users. Because it pays to heed that warning. Of course, why people want to be mean to these long-married celebrities is a whole other question, at least at this point in time. But that hasn't stopped people from being rude on the Internet before. That's the truth. So, at least Ripa and Conseulous are willing to play their game.

Mark Consuelos isn't going to sit around idly while people put down his wife, Kelly Ripa. On Instagram, after the actor posted a sultry photo of his morning talk show host wife clad in a bikini, Consuelos called out commenters who were bemoaning Ripa's fashion choices. He expresses his full support and admiration for his wife's clothing choices, and shut down anyone who doesn't respect her choice to wear what she wants, when she wants to.

The story goes as follows. Over the weekend, Mark Consuelos went on Instagram to post a picture of Kelly Ripa roaming the beach waters in a bikini. He credited her as "the sexy one" as they spent Sunday in perfectly cloudy weather.

The Internet being the place it is, it didn't take long for online commenters to chime in their thoughts; many of them criticizing Kelly Ripa for wearing a bikini at 47. Mark Consuelos wasn't having it. In the comment section, the actor fired back at the body shaming claims made towards his hardworking daytime TV wife, calling Ripa the woman he admires the most and praising her work ethic and commitment to exercise and healthy living.

Mark Consuelos continued to shower praise onto his long-time wife, claiming that Kelly Ripa will continue to wear bikinis as often as she wants. It doesn't matter what age she is -- or what age she will be -- when she wears them. He also doesn't care if Ripa's fashion choices bothered anyone.

There you have it. If you're going to attack Kelly Ripa's fashion choices, you're going to deal with Mark Consuelos along the way. Ripa and Consuelos have been together for more than two decades. They were married in 1996 and they share three children together, 20-year-old Michael Consuelos, 16-year-old Lola Conseuelos and 15-year-old Joaquin Conseulos. Their celebrity relationship together is arguably among the strongest within Hollywood.

Kelly Ripa is the host of Live! with Kelly and Ryan, which changed last year when Ryan Seacrest took over for Michael Strahan. Mark Consuelos, meanwhile, can be seen on The CW's hit series Riverdale, where he plays the role of Hiram Lodge.

Despite rumors earlier this year of some tension between Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest, the two appear to be quite friendly with each other even off-camera, and their banter hasn't suffered for it. Ripa and Seacrest chat between shows and hang out on the weekends, which sounds about as different from Ripa's behind-the-scenes dynamic with Philbin as can be. Perhaps it's not a surprise that Ripa and Philbin don't speak anymore.

Kelly Ripa seemed to have a pretty solid dynamic with Michael Strahan as well, but they did not part well as co-hosts. Strahan rather abruptly announced his intention to depart the series, and Ripa reportedly was not given a heads up prior to him making the announcement. She took off for a few days after the news broke, and there was enough melodrama that even Maury host Maury Povich claimed that they both "ought to leave their diva cages." Ouch.

Hopefully Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest continue to work well together. Seacrest has a very full plate thanks to his gig as host of the new American Idol, which will take him back and forth across the country on a weekly basis. Still, he seems happy working with Ripa, and viewers have responded well to them as hosts, especially compared the low ratings being delivered by Megyn Kelly in the mornings over on NBC. Only time will tell.

To give a little backstory, Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest are supposedly at odds following his suggestion that Live With Kelly And Ryan be moved to Los Angeles permanently to better accommodate his hosting of American Idol. Ripa, who only recently welcomed Ryan to her show a few months ago, reportedly became incredibly upset at the suggestion and threatened to walk away from the show if that happened. Ripa is taking next week off, with reality star Kim Kardashian stepping in to host in her place.

That brings us to Radar Online's report, which states sources allegedly involved with the show claim that Kim Kardashian is taking advantage of this opportunity, and that she's legitimately interested in becoming a full-time host, should Ripa really exit the series. What's more Ryan Seacrest is allegeldy "completely on board," as he and Kim Kardashian have been friends for close to a decade now. Considering nothing has been made official -- and that it's likely to stay that way, given the gossipy nature of it -- so it's awfully hard to determine the validity of all this.

If there are serious talks of moving Live With Kelly And Ryan to Los Angeles, who would be a bigger name to replace Kelly Ripa than the West Coast reality superstar Kim Kardashian, who currently boasts over 100 million followers on Instagram alone? At the same time, it sounds a little hard to believe that Ryan Seacrest single-handedly has the power to seriously convince ABC to move the show, considering what an institution Ripa has been on Live! show for all these years (and different hosts). Then again, with ABC offering so much to Katy Perry and Seacrest to be involved with American Idol, perhaps executives are looking for any way they can to sweeten the pot for their multi-show host, regardless of what Ripa's key interests are.

Once again, all of this is deep within the rumor-sphere, but that doesn't mean fans shouldn't keep a watchful eye on Kim Kardashian when she takes over on Live With Kelly And Ryan next week at 9 a.m. ET on ABC. It wouldn't be the first time a Kardashian has been involved in some drama, and Kim particularly seems to always find herself in the center of some crazy situations.
