If anyone has watched Industry, which aired on the 2026 TV schedule, you’d be aware that Kit Harington has bared quite a lot. The Game of Thrones actor stars as Lumi CEO Sir Henry Muck on the HBO and BBC hit, but fans have been getting much more than they bargained for. He previously jokingly shared that he cursed himself to be naked most of the time on the show, and now he’s getting candid about his many nude scenes as of late.

As part of Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Harington reunited with former GoT co-star Peter Dinklage, where the two discussed the HBO fantasy series and everything about their careers. This also included being pretty open about how they feel about their careers. At one point, Harington got real about doing nude scenes, thinking that it might be time to hang up that part of his life:

I get where Harington’s coming from. It can be intimidating to do nude scenes, especially the older you get. And if you have kids, that’s another factor you have to think about. Considering he thinks the nudity in Industry is purely of his own volition, it probably wouldn’t be too bad if he asked the writers to tone it down. However, Dinklage doesn’t think it’s all bad; it might just scar the kids as they get older:

• Dinklage: It’s OK. Nudity’s good. Kids are always naked in the house. We see enough of them. It’s OK — that’ll be a conversation for the therapist one day.
• Harington: They’re going to have to watch me and their mom, [Rose Leslie].

Since a fifth and final season of Industry is on the way, it’s hard to tell if Harington will be fully clothed the entire time. He is starting to think about doing less nudity because of his kids, so it’s entirely possible he’s been talking with the writers about it. That being said, it is the last season, meaning he might just want to go all out before officially saying goodbye to Sir Henry Muck. If anything, it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s banned his kids from watching Industry and anything that has him even slightly nude.

Personally I liked Harington’s nude scenes as much as the next person, and would definitely be disappointed if he started doing less of them. Of course shooting them isn't easy, no matter what the issue might be. It’s also not easy to talk about doing the nude scenes and really opening up about them, so Harington gets a lot of props. He's also had romance scenes with Sophie Turner, who played his sister on GoT, for a different project. So it's not like nude scenes are the only uncomfortable scenes he's filmed.

What things will look like for Harington moving forward in terms of on-screen nudity remains unclear, but it sounds like it’s something that he’s been thinking a lot about. Fans will just have to wait for Season 5 of Industry to see what kind of scenes he’ll have, and wait for any future projects to come, because there’s no telling how much more he’ll bare in the future. 15 years ago, HBO gave audiences what would become one of the greatest TV shows of all time when Game of Thrones premiered. Its incredible cast was composed of seasoned actors, like Peter Dinklage as well as Kit Harington and other up-and-comers, and they helped shape the series into the ratings monster and Emmy winner it was for eight seasons. In some ways, it's hard to believe so much time has passed since the show first hit the airwaves. But, if you really want to feel old, Harington shared with Dinklage a fact from the series that may or may not have someone in their feels.

In terms of how old the cast of Game of Thrones was when the show first started, stars like Emilia Clarke were in their early 20s, and Maisie Williams was a child star back then. Now, everyone is all grown up since shedding their cloaks from their Winterfell days. But, when Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage had a little reunion chat on Variety’s Actors on Actors, the British actor revealed to his longtime co-star a mind-blowing, age-related stat that threw Dinklage for a loop:

• Harington: I am now the age —
• Dinklage: Oh, fuck, I hate this.
• Harington: — that you were when I first met you. My first-ever scene on camera was with you, and I remember thinking, ‘I’ve just got to be really still. That’s acting for cameras. To be as still as I possibly can be, then say my lines, then go back to stillness.’ And in my head I’m like, ‘Why is that guy moving so much?’
• Dinklage: Overacting. Bad acting. Being a ham.
• Harington: And then I realized, no, you were just so much more experienced. I was like, ‘Just freeze. If you freeze, nothing can go wrong.’

Well, way to make me feel ancient. That feeling of my mortality aside, though I love the two actors’ hilarious exchange, including Dinklage calling himself a “ham” for “overacting.” And, of course, the irony of Harington feeling he had to make himself stiff to be a good actor is great as well.

By that point, Peter Dinklage already had notable movies as part of a solid filmography, like The Station Agent and Elf, before landing the role of Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones and winning four Emmys for his portrayal. With that I can understand Harington having those feelings upon working with Dinklage for the first time. Of course, it's clear that they're good buddies now, which may be something that's comforting to fans.

As for that age-centric factoid, the Industry actor is indeed around the age Dinklage was. Dinklage was about 41 during production on Season 1 of Thrones, and Harington is 39 now and will turn 40 later this year. When Harington made his career breakthrough as Jon Snow, he was fresh in his early twenties, signing up for what would be an HBO show that would get the world talking. Harington's been quite reflective as of late, and he recently spoke about how a fan made him “feel old” after revealing he was three when Game of Thrones premiered.

With Kit Harington in his late 30s and Peter Dinklage in his late 50s now, both have long since stepped out of their medieval fantasy series and into new chapters of their lives. Harington has since married his GoT co-star, Rose Leslie, is a father of two kids with her and is set to star in the limited series Count My Lies.

And Jon Snow actor Kit Harington recently shared why he's still "protective" about the show's controversial 8th and final season on the air.

The Westerosi spinoffs have provided new questions like which dragon belongs to who in HOTD, there's still plenty of discourse about GOT Season 8. In a recent appearance at Motor City Comic Con (via Twitter) Harington spoke about why he still doesn't love the hate the show's final season got. In the actor's words:

Honestly, this makes a ton of sense. Game of Thrones aired for eight years, so Harington got to know the cast, crew, department heads, and others extremely well during that time. He saw firsthand how much care when into the show, even if fans weren't necessarily happy with finale or the changes that came during its final 6 episodes on the air. So hearing folks talk smack about those individuals who worked so hard seemingly doesn't sit right with the 39 year-old actor.

While GOT was an Emmy-winning global success, the eighth season was the subject of a number of criticisms. Fans took umbrage with the shorter episode count, the way travel across Westeros seemed much quicker, as well as the ending of Daenerys Targaryen's story. Later in the same appearance, Harington went on to share more about his POV as someone who worked on the book to screen adaptation. He said:

That's another fair point. Despite petitions to have GOT Season 8 reshot, Kit Harington maintains that the duo of David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were still the right people to wrap up the story they had dedicated years of their life to. While it might not have been a perfect season, it sounds like Harington doesn't want his co-workers to be maligned by fans who loved the show they brought to life.

As seen in a clip posted to the outlet's X account, the British actor talked about how strange and touching it is to realize that Game of Thrones had still been finding new fans. The show premiered on HBO in 2011 and ended in 2019, though it's still available to stream in its entirety with an HBO Max subscription. The world of Westeros has not stopped attracting new viewers. Harington recalled a recent interaction that left him feeling the years a bit more sharply:

Harington was only in his mid-20s when Game of Thrones began airing, and Jon Snow became one of the show’s central figures almost immediately. For longtime viewers, it might still feel like the series is a relatively recent obsession. Then an 18-year-old fan shows up and casually reveals that they were barely out of toddlerhood when Ned Stark first brought his solemn, secretive son to Winterfell.

It's also a reminder of how enormous Game of Thrones remains, despite the noise that followed its final season. The ending became one of the most debated TV finales of the modern era, and the Beast Within actor himself has since addressed the backlash, including the petition calling for the last season to be remade. In a January interview, he said that the reaction “genuinely angered” him because he knew how hard the cast and creative team had worked on the series.

Still, the shop encounter shows the other side of that legacy. People may argue about where the show landed, but they are still watching it, still recommending it and still recognizing Harington from a role he started playing 15 years ago. That is a strange kind of immortality for an actor. You get to move on, but the character keeps circling back in someone else’s living room.

Harington has also been candid about needing distance from Westeros. He previously said he could not bring himself to watch House of the Dragon, now moving into its third season, and would need several years before revisiting Game of Thrones itself. Kit Harington is very aware of how naked he is in the season of Industry that aired on the 2026 TV schedule. He’s also very aware that he pretty much did this to himself. Now, you might be wondering how exactly he cursed himself into being “naked about 90% of the time” on this HBO show. Well, thankfully, he explained it all.

Noting that he’s “naked a lot” in Industry during his appearance on The Tonight Show, Kit Harington dove into detail about Season 4, which saw his character, Sir Henry Muck, in a spiral. Referring to how often he’s not clothed, the actor said:

Now, why was it his own fault? Well, Fallon asked how Harington got into this situation, and the Game of Thrones actor said:

To provide a few examples of this, during Season 4 of Industry, Harington found himself playing out moments where his character was wearing just a robe. At one point, there’s a sex scene that starts with him only in a towel. There’s also a scene where he can be seen naked in the shower. So, yeah, Sir Henry’s story featured little clothing, and Harington’s willingness to go there with scenes like that is (at least part of) the reason why.

I find this all quite funny for a few reasons. First, this all comes in the lead up to Harington releasing an upcoming horror film on the 2026 movie schedule called The Dreadful. In it, he and Sophie Turner play lovers, and they notably started making vomiting noises when they filmed their kissing scene. That stems from the fact that they played siblings for a very long time on Game of Thrones, so I see why he was hilariously apprehensive there, but not so much on Industry.

Secondly, I am here for the fact that he admitted that this is probably his own fault. As he said, being game to do scenes like this was why they put more involving less clothing in the most recent season of the financial drama that’s available to stream with an HBO Max subscription.

So, I guess now the question is: With the fifth and final season of Industry on the way, will Kit Harington be in it, and if he is, will his scenes involve more or less clothing? Well, according to him, he’s not sure if he’ll be back yet, but he said that “if it was the right story, [he’d] definitely be in it.” And if he is in it and wearing little to no clothing, we know who to blame.

When we return to the world of dragons a vikings, a new actor will be taking over the role Kit Harington originated in How to Train Your Dragon 2. In a stroke of inspired casting, Phil Dunster will step in to play Eret in the live-action adaptation of the sequel. So, when I interviewed the Ted Lasso actor, I asked what he’d like to replicate from the Game of Thrones star's original voice performance.

Dunster has some big shoes to fill here, in the animated movie Harington voices the “finest dragon trapper alive,” and he does it with a lot of swagger and humor. In How to Train Your Dragon 2, Eret steals and sells dragons to Drago Bludvist (who will be played by Ólafur Darri Ólafsson in live-action). So, he’s working for the bad guy, and he’s doing it with a cocky yet charming attitude.

When I interviewed Dunster for his new show on the 2026 TV schedule, Rooster, I also asked him about HTTYD 2 and what he’d like to take from Harington’s performance to add ot his own. He said:

I totally see what he’s saying here. While Eret isn’t as free-spirited as Johnny Depp’s pirate, he does operate with a confidence and goofy swagger like the lead pirate of Pirates of the Caribbean. Like Jack, Eret has some very funny moments in the HTTYD movies, and Harington balances them and his character’s cool and kick-butt attitude perfectly.

I know Dunster will be able to do this, too. Like his beloved Ted Lasso character, Jamie Tartt, Eret is cocky and bad at first; however, he’s also very funny and eventually quite lovable.

Overall, it sounds like the Emmy-nominee is enjoying his time on the Isle of Berk, and he’s taken inspiration from the actor who came before him, as he told me:

Along with having a template to go off of with the animated movies, How to Train Your Dragon 2 also features actors from the OG films. Both Gerard Butler and Cate Blanchett are reprising their roles as Hiccup’s parents. Plus, Dean DeBlois, who directed both the animated movies and the first live-action film, is helming the live-action sequel. Speaking specifically about working with the director who has been in charge of this universe since its inception in 2010, Dunster told me:

It’s always seemed like these movies are a joy to make, and Dunster made it very clear to me that that’s been the case on How to Train Your Dragon 2, which has been in production since January.

I always try to separate actors from the work I know them best for when I go to watch their latest work. However, sometimes it's really hard, especially when two performers who are known for the same project collaborate on something new. It turns out that is true for the actors sometimes, too, as proven by the vomiting noises Sophie Turner and Kit Harington made after having to kiss each other in their upcoming horror movie.

Now, after playing siblings in the Game of Thrones cast for eight seasons, there’s no question that Turner and Harington playing lovers in their new project on the 2026 movie schedule is a bit “weird for all of us,” as the Sansa Stark actress once put it. Now, that claim has been followed up by the footage of them having to kiss on the set of The Dreadful. Take a look at the clip ET posted:

As you can see in the behind-the-scenes footage of Turner and Harington’s gothic horror movie, when the take is happening, the two actors are being pros. They’re making out like their characters are supposed to. However, literally the second after “cut” is called they both make vomiting noises. Honestly, it's hilarious.

It also shows off what good actors they are, asThe Dreadful’s director Natasha Kermani said:

Considering Turner and Harington played siblings on Game of Thrones for so long, it tracks that they’d have absolutely no romantic chemistry off-screen. Plus, they’ve both been very open about how weird it's been for them to play lovers. In fact, The Staircase actress recalled an on-set moment a while ago where they were “both retching” after their first kissing scene on The Dreadful.

Adding to that, the Industry actor said that because Turner is taller than him, he had to stand on an apple box to kiss her. According to him, that also made things “slightly embarrassing.”

So, all around, this was not an ideal experience for anyone. However, the two actors are just that, actors, and they made it work. As the director stated, when the cameras were rolling, they had the chemistry, and they leaned into the steamy nature of the scene.

Although I do find it very funny that the second they weren’t working, they couldn’t keep it together. As a Game of Thrones fan, I’ll always think of them as Sansa Stark and Jon Snow first. So, seeing them play lovers in this horror movie is bound to be a little odd. However, like the actors, I too have to remember that this is all fiction, they’re not actually related in real life, and they’re very good at their jobs.

Therefore, while this scene led to vomiting noises behind the scenes, I’m sure that the steamy moment that happened before cut was called and plays into the film in a meaningful way.

As the live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2 has started filming this week, we just got a fantastic update about a new cast member joining the Isle of Berk. In the 2014 animated movie, you may remember the character of Eret, who fancies himself as the "finest dragon trapper alive." Well, one fan-favorite actor from Ted Lasso will apparently play him after Kit Harington originated the voice role.

That person is none other than Jamie Tartt (do-do-do-doo-doo) actor Phil Dunster, per THR.

The Ted Lasso star is an English actor who most famously played fictional football star Jamie Tartt on Ted Lasso for three seasons from 2020 to 2023.

In How To Train Your Dragon 2, he'll have the chance to play a notable character in the live-action remake who captures dragons and sells them to the movie's main villain, Drago Bludvist.

Not unlike Jamie Tartt, the character is a healthy combination of cocky and charming, making Dunster's casting pretty much perfect. As you may recall in the How to Train Your Dragon movies, Eret has quite the character arc in the second movie that carries into the third installment as well.

Since Phil Dunster is reportedly not going to be in Ted Lasso Season 4, due to scheduling conflicts, this is a great treat for fans to see the actor take on another big role in the vein of Jamie Tartt. Meanwhile, Ted Lasso is set to return this summer for those with an Apple TV subscription.

Now, How to Train Your Dragon 2 officially started filming just a couple of days ago. The director posted this to mark the occasion:

How To Train Your Dragon 2 comes from Dean DeBlois (who also made all the previous movies). The filmmaker previously told CinemaBlend he found adapting the sequel to be "kind of overwhelming" due to the fact that the storyline involves "masses of dragons" and a large "scale of battle".

Dunster is the third new cast member to join the How to Train Your Dragon 2 live-action movie. First, it was announced that Cate Blanchett would reprise her role of Hiccup's mom, Valka, after originating the role in animation. Then, we learned that Ólafur Darri Ólafsson will take on the role of Drago Bludvist. They should be joining Mason Thames' Hiccup, Nico Parker's Astrid and Gerard Butler's Stoick.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 already has a release date set for June 11, 2027, which has the movie between Star Wars: Starfighter, coming out on May 28, and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, hitting theaters on June 18. But the pressure of doing that series stressful for Kit Harington, who "could barely speak" when hitting rock bottom as a result of his tenure playing Jon Snow.

The Game of Thrones series finale is controversial, and a recent report makes it seem like Harington might have seen this coming. In a story by The New York Times, the actor and his loved ones spoke about how he hit rock bottom around he time of the final season. His co-star John Bradley, who played Samwell Tarley, spoke to the publication about seeing at his worst when promoting the show. He reportedly wandered into an elevator, with Bradley saying:

Yikes. Press tours are notoriously grueling for actors, who go through countless interviews. Game of Thrones was a global sensation, so this was definitely the case for those who brought Westeros to life on HBO. And Harington's struggle was obvious enough that his co-stars like Bradley noticed.

Things only got more intense for the Jon Snow actor when he hosted SNL (which is streaming with a Peacock subscription). He recalled feeling powerless at this point, including filming the sketch comedy series without his signature beard. He recalled thinking:

In the end he survived the SNL hosting experience, although his mental health situation reportedly reached a boiling point. He went to a rehabilitation facility in Connecticut as a result, for substance issues as well as his aforementioned mental health issues. And all this came as fans lambasted the final season of Game of Thrones and made a petition for the network to remake it.

In the end Harington took a year after Game of Thrones ended to focus on his health, before eventually jumping back into acting. He would star as Dante Whitman in Eternals, but the movie failed to resonate with audiences. And while the Eternals credits scene teased him becoming Black Knight, he's been noticeably missing from the shared universe ever since. He's once again back at HBO starring in Mickey Down and Konrad Kay's Industry.

The Game of Thrones franchise has been expanded thanks to prequel shows, starting with House of the Dragon and most recently A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Some fans are hoping to see the OG GoT stars return to their signature roles, but I'm wondering if Harington's past would discourage him from continuing Jon Snow's story. Only time will tell.

Even several years after the episode’s debut, there are still those who express their grievances with how the story ended for the likes of Daenerys Targaryen, the Stark children and more. The dissatisfaction was actually so brutal that a petition was formed in an effort to have the finale redone. Now, nearly seven years later, cast member Kit Harington is weighing in.

Harington notably played the role of the valiant Jon Snow, who also had quite the story arc throughout the eighth and final season of Thrones. While he’s several years removed from his stint portraying the noble member of the Night’s Watch, Harington still fields questions about the show. While speaking to the New York Times, the British actor recalled being in rehab for alcoholism while the final season aired in 2019, and he caught wind of the negative reviews when he was out. As for his feelings on the petition, Harington said this:

Needless to say, the Eternals alum didn’t mince words when sharing his thoughts on fans’ attempts to have the Game of Thrones series finale redone. It’s honestly easy to understand why Harington feels the way he does about that petition. As noted by the NYT, he was more than aware of the hard work that series creators/writers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss put into the finale alongside the cast and crew. Regardless of how viewers may feel about the installment, it can’t be denied that making the episode was no small feat.

As a whole, Thrones’ final season earned flak for various reasons, and the series finale ultimately drew mixed responses from CinemaBlend’s staff and more at the time. Among the elements viewers took issue with was the characterization of Daenerys Targaryen, who descended into madness during the last stretch of the show. The final episode sees the “Queen of Dragons” fatally stabbed by Jon, her lover, who weeps over her body. For his actions, Snow is eventually exiled and returns to his post with the Night’s Watch.

There was a time at which it looked like fans would be seeing more of Kit Harington’s Jon Snow, it was reported back in 2022 that the character would headline a spinoff series. However, by 2024, it was reported that the Snow show was dead at HBO, with Harington explaining at the time that he and the producers couldn’t land on the right story. Harington was asked in December 2025 whether he’d reprise Jon at this point, and he said “didn’t want to go anywhere near” the franchise after having been a part of it for a decade.

I don’t want to be presumptuous, but I could imagine that crafting work for a franchise with a fanbase that initiated a petition to remake the series finale could be hard for an actor like Kit Harington. What can be said with certainty, though, is that regardless of whether fans think Thrones is a show that ends well or not, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Stream all eight seasons of Game of Thrones now using an HBO Max subscription, and that platform also offers the first two seasons of House of the Dragon, which is returning for a third. Also, look ahead to the premiere of the latest spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which debuts on January 18 amid the 2026 TV schedule.

Jon Snow may know nothing, but Kit Harington certainly knows a thing or two, especially when it comes to whether or not he’s up for another round in the world of Westeros. The actor who spent a decade brooding through blizzards, battles, and betrayals on HBO’s hit flagship series, Game of Thrones, recently opened up about his future in George R.R. Martin’s world and, spoiler alert, it might not be precisely what long-time fans may expect.

In a new interview with Variety, Harington’s focus is far from Winterfell these days. He’s traded swords for spells, lending his voice to the Harry Potter universe in Audible’s impressive audiobook adaptation of The Chamber of Secrets. The Eternals star voices none other than Gilderoy Lockhart, the flamboyant, self-absorbed Defense Against the Dark Arts professor once portrayed by Kenneth Branagh. Yet amid all the wizardry talk, the conversation inevitably turned to whether he’d ever consider returning to Game of Thrones. He responded pretty definitively:

That’s about as clear an answer as he could give without tossing Longclaw into a snowbank and walking off. And honestly, it tracks. Jon Snow’s whole saga is basically a slow accumulation of responsibility.

Snow was raised as Ned Stark’s supposed bastard, shaped by the Night’s Watch, murdered by his own brothers, yanked back to life, then forced to carry the ugliest choices a “good man” can make, right up to killing Daenerys after King’s Landing burns. The last time we saw him, he wasn’t angling for a throne. He was back in black, reunited with Ghost, and riding north with Tormund and the Free Folk, choosing the edge of the world over the center of power.

It’s especially blunt considering a Jon Snow follow-up series was reportedly in development with Harington’s involvement back in 2022, and even George R.R. Martin acknowledged early conversations about continuing Jon’s story. But between the actor’s very real fatigue and the silence since, this one doesn’t sound like it’s clawing its way out of the grave of the canceled show anytime soon.

That’s not to say Harington’s done with fantasy altogether. His turn as Lockhart shows he’s still drawn to eccentric characters in mythic worlds — only this time, he’s laughing at the absurdity instead of dying for it.

Harington describes Lockhart as “a lovely little, entertaining, tragic, comical character,” and jokes that he didn’t have to stretch too far to find the right tone. The role even gave him a new appreciation for voice acting and, perhaps, a gentler kind of magic after years of winter and war.

For now, fans may have to settle for hearing, not seeing, Kit Harington in their favorite fantasy worlds. But considering how his last journey north ended, maybe that’s for the best.

The Jon Snow spinoff may be off the table, but that hasn’t stopped the streamer from expanding the map. House of the Dragon season 3 is on the horizon, and the newest series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, hits the 2026 TV schedule on January 18th. It will consist of six episodes, airing every Sunday on HBO and then available to stream for anyone with an HBO Max subscription.

Kit Harington became a star thanks to the beloved fantasy series, Game of Thrones. Now, he’s joined another beloved fantasy series, Harry Potter. The actor is voicing Professor Lockhart in the new full-cast audiobooks, and he’s doing it with great excitement, too, because he’s “an absolute Potter nerd.”

Along with releasing The Family Plan 2 on the 2025 movie schedule (you can stream it with an Apple TV+ subscription), Kit Harington also plays a part in Audible’s Harry Potter: The Full Cast Audio Editions. That’s right, you can hear him now in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart. So, in celebration of that, Andrew Freund asked him about joining the Wizaring World. In response, the Game of Thrones star said:

All good points! I read the books for the first time in fifth grade, and it was a transformative experience that made me fall in love with reading. I also got to know so many iconic actors – like Kenneth Branagh, who played Lockhart on screen – because of the Harry Potter movies. Now, a whole new generation of readers, watchers and listeners will get to experience both things by way of these new audiobooks and HBO’s Harry Potter show.

The audiobooks specifically have a stacked cast. Along with Harington, who plays Lockhart, the self-obsessed author and Defense Against the Dark Arts professor in Chamber of Secrets, Matthew Macfadyen is voicing Voldemort, Hugh Laurie is Dumbledore, and Riz Ahmed is playing Snape. The Hogwarts staff will also feature Keira Knightley as Professor Umbridge, Iwan Rheon as Professor Lupin and Mark Addy as Hagrid, among many others.

Meanwhile, the leading trio of Harry, Ron and Hermione will be voiced by Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester, and Arabella Stanton (who will also play Hermione in the show), respectively, for the first three books.

So, truly, this project has continued to pull in “great actors,” and it will likely enthrall new audiences, too.

Now, Harington doubled down on his own love for Harry Potter in a funny way, too. When asked if he did this project for his kids, the actor said “no,” and then explained:

Whether he was being sarcastic or not, this response does reiterate his passion for the project. And that kind of enthusiasm makes me very excited about the books. I also hope it makes his kids excited someday, too, because he really is playing a part in an iconic story.

A great deal has been said about the upcoming movie The Dreadful (a movie expected to be on the 2025 movie schedule) that, based on what has been said, might be titled after the fact that stars Kit Harington and Sophie Turner had to kiss each other. The former Game of Thrones siblings play a romantic couple in the new film, which both have said was an awkward situation, although it was awkward for Harington for a slightly different reason.

Speaking with E! Harington says that he initially did feel “odd” about co-starring in the movie, a gothic romance set during the Wars of the Roses, with his former on-screen sibling. In fact, he was a little surprised that Turner did not, since apparently Turner was the one who sent him the script. Harington explained…

While Sophie Turner did eventually say the experience of kissing her “brother” did feel weird, for Harington, it seems that what was “kinda weird” on set wasn’t kissing Sophie Turner, it was the circumstances under which he had to do it. It seems that Turner is so much taller than Harington that the scenes in which they actually kissed required Harington to stand on a box. He continued…

Hollywood does a pretty amazing job of making every actor who is supposed to be the lead look tall, and fitting everybody in the frame so everybody looks the same height. I had no idea that there was such a difference in height between these two.

The question then is, is Kit Harington short for a man, or is Sophie Turner tall for a woman? Interestingly, according to information online, Turner is 5’9”, while Harington is only 5’8”. One wouldn’t think that Harington would need help to kiss Turner if she’s actually only an inch taller than he is, although, if they wanted Harington to look significantly taller than her, the box would be needed.

As somebody short enough that I would consider Kit Harington tall, I can imagine the embarrassment that comes with having to stand on a box to appear taller. That said, we know Harington isn’t the only actor to ever have to do that. Even Tom Cruise has had to do such things before, and if the biggest movie star in the world can handle it, I suppose the rest of us can.

I’m so thrilled that Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are reuniting for an upcoming horror movie. However, I can’t quite get over the fact that the Game of Thrones cast members are going to be playing lovers. It turns out, they hilariously couldn’t either, as the Sansa Stark actress recalled just how uncomfortable she and the Jon Snow actor were filming their intimate scenes together.

Sophie Turner spent the better part of her time on Late Night with Seth Meyers discussing various uncomfortable filming situations she’s been in. While promoting her project on the 2025 movie schedule, Trust, she talked about working with rats and cockroaches. However, she also got real about the weirdness of making out with your former on-screen brother. Here’s how her story about how this ended up happening in the first place began:

Well, that’s really sweet. I love that the first person she wanted to work with was a fellow Stark, because any Game of Thrones reunion is a good one. However, things got weird when Turner and Harington realized that their relationship in this new movie would be totally different than the one they had on the HBO show.

Explaining that realization, Turner said:

Listen, I realize that in the Game of Thrones universe, being in a romantic relationship with your brother or niece is not necessarily unusual. However, it’s also never not weird. Plus, the Stark siblings – i.e., Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, Rickon and Jon – never participated in the incest.

Plus, with GOT being one of HBO’s shows that got the world talking, it’s admittedly hard to separate the actors from their characters.

So, all that considered, yeah, it’s weird that Sansa and Jon’s actors are playing lovers. I love that they found it odd, too. In fact, it was so weird for them, Turner claimed that they were both “retching” when they had to lock lips on set:

On top of this, earlier in the interview, she spoke about how “foul” it was to work with cockroaches and rats on the same day for a different movie. She called that the “worst day of my career.” However, a few minutes later, when they talked about The Dreadful, and Meyers asked if playing lovers with her GOT co-star was worse than the cockroaches, the actress said:

As someone who binged Game of Thrones with an HBO Max subscription, I will also have a hard time moving past this like they did. However, also like them, I’m going to do it.

The fact that Turner and Harington were willing to work through the weirdness of playing lovers after playing siblings for years tells me that they’re committed to this movie. So, you better believe I’m going to go see it. If they have confidence in it, I’ll be thrilled to watch it, even if it means I have to work really, really hard to get over the fact that they played iconic siblings on Game of Thrones.

When certain actors play characters for a very long time, it can be hard to picture them as anyone else. That feeling becomes amplified when two former co-stars reunite for a new and totally different project. Well, now I’m feeling all those feelings as two of Game of Thrones' cast members, Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, are starring in a movie together. However, to make matters weirder, these performers who played siblings on GOT are playing lovers in this new movie. That’s a kind of hard to comprehend, but don’t worry, Turner is hilariously struggling with it too.

For context, Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are set to star in the gothic horror film The Dreadful. At the moment, it’s not on the 2025 movie schedule, but in a Vogue video, the actress expressed her excitement about the upcoming film and reuniting with her GOT brother, saying:

To state the obvious, Harington and Turner are not actually related, so if you take Game of Thrones out of it, this is not weird at all. However, they did play Jon Snow and Sansa Stark in the extraordinary fantasy adaptation for eight seasons.

So, for many of us who have and still do watch Game of Thrones with an HBO Max subscription, it’s hard to see these two as anything other than siblings. The HBO series got the world talking, and to this day, most of its main cast is best known for their roles in it. When I think of Harington and Turner, the Stark family and their characters are the first things that come to mind.

Picturing them as anything but siblings is, as Turner said, “really weird.” This is especially true because the series ran from 2011 to 2019, and we literally watched both actors grow up on screen, as Turner was 15 when she began playing Sansa and Harington was 24 when Season 1 premiered.

However, I’ll get over it just like they seemingly did, considering they made this movie together, because I love the idea of a Game of Thrones reunion on the big screen. Plus, The Dreadful sounds fascinating. The fact that it’s a gothic horror had me hooked already. However, Deadline reported that the film, which was written and directed by Natasha Kermani, follows a woman (Turner) who has been living in solitude with her mother-in-law during the War of the Roses when a man (Harington) from her past returns.

Sign me up! And I’ll do my best to pretend like I don’t know that the film's stars played siblings for years on Game of Thrones. Maybe I’ll even try to pretend like I’ve never seen GOT (which Turner hasn’t), and that might help me forget the on-screen familial ties.

No matter what, I know I’ll move past it, though, because, seemingly like Turner, my excitement to see the actors reunite trumps the feelings I have about these former on-screen siblings playing on-screen lovers.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for constantly expanding, thanks to projects hitting theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order will know that there's been some struggles in the years since Avengers: Endgame, including the release of projects like Eternals. A sequel seemingly isn't coming, but fan art allowed Kit Harington to finally become Black Knight.

The ending of Eternals was a huge cliffhanger, one that hasn't really been addressed in the years that past. After the titular team was taken into space the Eternals credits scene showed Harington's Dane Whitman debating whether or not to use the Ebony Blade. It's unclear if we'll ever see that story continue, but Instagram fan art showed what he might look like as Black Knight. Check it out below:

I mean, that's pretty damn cool. While it's unclear what the Game of Thrones star's look would have been in the MCU, this an epic look at what Black Knight might look like. Although Eternals is seemingly not getting a sequel, perhaps Kevin Feige and company will bring back Harington's character anyway. Just look at this guy!

Harington got cast in Eternals shortly after finishing his tenure as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones (streaming with a Max subscription). Given his wild popularity, it made total sense that the MCU locked him down for a character. And while he didn't actually wield the Ebony Blade in the first movie, the actor obviously has ton of experience with sword-wielding genre work.

Since the Jon Snow spinoff was cancelled at HBO, Harington's schedule is also presumably much more agreeable for a return to the MCU. But there's been no indication that those narrative seeds are going to be continued in any upcoming Marvel movies.

The events of Eternals was finally referenced in Captain America: Brave New World, revealing that Tiamut's partially formed body was what brought Adamantium to the MCU. As most comic fans know, this is a very strong metal that Wolverine's skeleton and claws are made of. Fans spent years wondering why the shared universe didn't acknowledge the partially-formed Celestial sticking out of the ocean, with that plot point starting an arms race in Captain America 4.

Eternals was doing a ton of set up, including Kit Harington's infamous credits scene. Because at the tail end of that sequence we actually heard the voice of Mahershala Ali's Blade speaking to Dane. If/when his delayed solo movie actually comes together, perhaps that's a way that the Game of Thrones alum could return to the MCU.

Eternals is streaming on Disney+, and the next superhero movie in the MCU hitting theaters is The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25th as part of the 2025 movie release list.

Bella Ramsey since wrapping her tenure on season eight of Game of Thrones. After having to battle trolls as Lyanna Mormont, they now go up against zombies as Ellie in your 2025 TV schedule for HBO’s The Last of Us. While it’s been a long while since their recurring role in the George R.R. Martin adaptation, the British actor recalls the time they thought they were being terrorized by a fan, only to realize it was their GOT co-star Kit Harington.

The Last of Us may be a major project Bella Ramsey has going on right now (which can be streaming on your Max subscription), but it doesn’t mean their Game of Thrones past doesn’t catch up to them once in a while. Kit Harington asked while interviewing Ramsey for Interview Magazine if they saw each other since their time on the HBO series, and here was their answer:

I can imagine how scary that would be to have someone shout your name from a taxi. After all, the Nottingham native said they had a “weird” increase in fame after starring in The Last of Us, always getting recognized when going outside. Fortunately, the head poking out of a taxi was a familiar face.

Even though Bella Ramsey has The Last of Us going on, their role as Lyanna Mormont still meant a lot to them. During their interview, they cutely recalled how on the set of Game of Thrones, they would mouth Kit Harington's lines whenever he struggled with them. The Jon Snow actor jokingly responded that he felt from then on, there was a friendly “competition” between the two and that he needed to “up his game,” seeing the talent he was sharing the screen with. That sounds like a cute little sibling rivalry right there! While Ramsey said it was coming from an “innocent place,” I see where they’re coming from in knowing everyone’s lines after hearing them take after take.

Since Game of Thrones was Bella Ramsey’s first acting project, they previously acknowledged being “terrified” to play Lyanna Mormont in fear that their performance would affect how fans would feel about the spitfire head of House Mormont. Fortunately, the GOT character ended up being a true standout that made us wish we saw the feisty Lady in more episodes. They also said Kit Harington was incredibly helpful when he gave the Catherine Called Birdy star his “best advice” to be their truest self during live interviews. It must have been a tremendous feeling for them to receive great words of wisdom from experienced actors who’ve dealt with fame for a lot longer.

Bella Ramsey may have to deal with doses of fame due to their HBO TV roles, but it’s nice to know they’ve got a "sweet" fan in Game of Thrones co-star Kit Harington. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become so big that the word “universe” now truly applies. There are so many characters, worlds, multiverses, and magic MacGuffins to keep track of that it can be difficult for even the biggest fan to keep everything straight. In fact, the MCU has so many characters that many of them have been introduced, only to have nothing else to do since. An internet user recently pointed that out and, afterwards, fans didn't hold back their thoughts.

A tweet recently went viral for spotlighting what it called the “current MCU trend" of introducing new characters in big and important ways, only to have them disappear from the narrative. This included Harry Styles' appearance as Eros and Brett Goldstein’s debut as Hercules among others…

The post clearly struck a nerve, as it has been viewed nearly six million times at time of writing. And, to be fair, it’s not wrong. Nothing has happened with these characters since their initial introductions, despite some of them appearing years ago. And they’re not the only ones, as some of the comments have added others to the list…

It would be easy to forget that some of these characters even made appearances in the MCU. Both Hercules and Eros appeared during post-credits sequences, as did the scene that confirmed that Kit Harrington's Dane Whitman would be the Black Knight. Hulk’s son, Skaar, also made a brief appearance at the end of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law but in a blink-and-you-’ll-miss-it sort of way. One X user claimeg they didn't (and still don't) even know who these characters are:

It seems clear that the MCU may be a bit overstuffed. These characters debut, but then all the films that have been released since are about other characters, so there’s no place to continue these stories. In the case of Kit Harrington’s Black Knight, it feels like there was at least a plan to use him in the upcoming Blade movie, as we heard the voice of Mahershala Ali in the post-credits scene of Eternals. However, since Blade has seen delay after delay, nothing has ever come of it.

With the others, however, it feels like characters were quickly introduced just to have them on hand if and when they’d be needed. And some of the fans responding to the original post are just fine if we never see these characters again. Another X user said...

Of course, it should be said that introducing characters only to not use them, or not use them for a long time, as pointed out by another fan on X. As with so many characters from The Incredible Hulk finally returning in Captain America: Brave New World, we’ve had instances of characters being dormant for extended periods since the early days of the MCU. There are certainly a lot of open plot threads in the MCU and a lot of characters who haven’t had much to do. Perhaps some of them will appear in the next Avengers movie or in some other future project. All we can say is there are certainly still plenty of players on the board.

In the meantime, use a Disney+ subscription to stream the various Marvel movies and TV shows in which these briefly introduced characters appeared.

Reality creates the scariest monsters. Villains from some of the best horror franchises, like Freddy Krueger, Norman Bates, and even Leatherface, have real-life origins, and they're scary for the levels of absurdity added on top of the depth and uneasiness provided by their backstory truths. The most deadly threats just might be your next-door neighbors, and Kit Harington'sThe Beast Within highlights this concept of a monster lurking nearby with its ending.

The Beast Within stars Harington, Caoilinn Springall, Ashleigh Cummings, and James Cosmo. The film follows 10-year-old Willow (Springall) as she tries to understand the strange happenings involving her father Noah (Harington).

The film wasn't a critic’s favorite upon its release, but I found it to be a layered exploration of the many ideologies that monsters can showcase, and The Beast Within ending transforms the story into a more complex tale about domesticity and deception.

Warning The Beast Within spoilers are ahead. Proceed with caution.

What Happened At The End Of The Beast Within

Waylon (Cosmo) stays behind and closes the farm’s gate to allow Willow and Imogen (Cummings) to escape, and they make it to the woods. While searching for a safe path, however, a werewolf version of Noah picks Willow up and carries her to his hideaway, and Imogen begs him to release her.

She embraces the wolf and attempts to calm Noah down to ensure Willow can move to safety. However, he suddenly becomes the dangerous wolf again and attacks Imogen while also accidentally knocking over a lantern that starts a fire.

Willow uses her oxygen tank to set Noah ablaze, and sometime later, when Imogen and Willow are preparing to leave their home, Willow flashes back to memories of Noah. It depicts a different outcome from the one we see, and instead of a werewolf, Noah is just a normal man attacking Imogen as Willow watches in tears. He calls her “little monster,” at which point both the memory and the film itself end.

The Reality Of What Happened At The End

Willow’s flashbacks confirm that Noah is indeed not a werewolf, and that the monster is a projection from her imagination to cope with her father’s abuse. Throughout The Beast Within, plenty of signs indicate that Noah has been physically and emotionally violent towards Imogen. As such, the film doesn’t slong alongside other movies with mind-blowing endings, since its reveal was foreshadowed all along.

We see some verbal arguments and also Imogen’s bruises. She also seems sore and shaken whenever returning from time alone with him. Even before The Beast Within ending reveal, a few key scenes paint the picture of domestic abuse.

One major example occurs when Imogen secretly wears a nice dress hidden in her car. This seems unusual, but then it pairs with Willow watching her mother and noticing bruises. Later in The Beast Within, the dress returns as something to trigger Noah. From Willow’s room, you hear him yelling at Imogen about it.

He accuses her of seeing someone and having secrets. He also thinks she plans to leave him. You even hear him apologizing like he just hit her. The scene with the dress also shows Noah’s duality. One minute he’s being a loving father to Willow, then the next, he’s pushing a sandwich from her hand and telling her to shut up.

Willow’s fantasies transform Noah into a physical beast, a werewolf. In reality, he’s an abusive father. The Beast Within further confirms that Noah is not an actual werewolf by showing Willow reading “White Fang” by Jack London, which implies her imagination is helping create this werewolf version of Noah.

We don’t know exactly what happened that night, but we can make assumptions. Likely, Noah returned home in a rage. It got so bad that Waylon and Imogen worried he might kill them and Willow. They tried to escape, but this led to him beating Imogen to the point where Willow then had to likely kill him to keep Imogen alive. .

Those nights when Noah leaves are maybe nights where he gets drunk and his rage and anger become so bad they have to keep him away. There is also some implication that he harms or kills animals to deal with his anger.

The final image of Noah makes him look intoxicated, and alcoholism may indeed be part of his sickness and monster transformation. However, alcohol cannot take the sole blame for Noah’s rage and anger, since we hear and see him become violent and angry when he looks perfectly sober. (As seen through flashbacks and glimpses of his true nature.)

The Importance Of Willow's Perspective

The film takes place through Willow’s eyes, and, automatically, the viewers enter a state of confusion. We only know as much as Willow knows. She doesn’t know the full truth. All the adults in her life are working hard to shield her from the reality of the situation. This means we, the audience, view things in the haze of a child’s perspective.

Early in The Beast Within, we learn that Willow has an active imagination. She’s often seen reading and playing with her toy figurine of the house. Her imagination helps her create this fantastical view of her world. Her father isn’t this abusive man but this man who is a victim to this beast, the werewolf that lives inside him. Willow only stops pretending after everything happens, and she can no longer escape the reality of her father’s abuse and cruelty. Her imagination can’t protect her from this reality.

The Beast Within works because it’s told from Willow’s perspective. This helps blend reality and fantasy. We never know what’s real because Willow doesn’t understand things and sometimes misinterprets them.

For example, Imogen and Noah saying “Nothing changes” is originally seen as a gesture of love because that’s how Willow views it. However; it’s really a way for Noah to control Imogen by making her agree not to leave him.

In an interview with Eye For Film, The Beast Within director Alexander J. Farrell mentions how imagination (the viewers and Willow’s) play a huge role in creating this horror story.

Willow is also obviously a scared child, so her fear rubs off on the viewers. We are always uneasy because she is as well. We don’t know who to trust because she doesn’t. Her perspective amplifies the film’s tension.

The Theme Of Trapped In The Beast Within

Every character in The Beast Within is trapped. Waylon is trapped because he cannot get his daughter to leave her abusive situation. Therefore, he is trapped in it as well to protect her. Imogen cannot leave Noah, maybe from fear or misguided loyalty and love for him. Willow is trapped in this house with her parents and also has some limits due to her health condition.

Noah is trapped by this beast that lives inside him. He knows he’s a monster but can’t seem to stop himself or gain the courage to leave his family.

In an interview with Film Review Daily, Alexander J. Farrell brings up an interesting point about how many monster movies (especially some of the best ones) focus on keeping the monster out. This is an impossible task with The Beast Within because the monster lives in this home. It exists here and even pays the bills. Additionally, the film talks about the beast that lives within many.

Noah’s abusive nature is generational. He talks about his grandfather’s abuse, then his fathers, and now his abusive nature. The movie ends with Noah calling Willow a “little monster.” She may have to deal with her own anger when she grows up, because that darkness that exists within Noah may live within her. However, that doesn’t mean she will repeat the cycle. She will just have to fight hard to stop her potential beast.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a well-oiled machine at this point, constantly growing in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. While the fandom is celebrating the record-breaking success of Deadpool 3, those us who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order know that there have been a number of flops in recent years. Chief among them is Chloé Zhao's Eternals, which failed to impress critics and audiences alike. Game of Thrones icon Kit Harington made his MCU debut in that ill-fated project, and has a funny explanation for why he signed onto the superhero flick.

The cast of Eternals was super stacked, with Harington playing one of the smaller roles as Dane Whitman. While Eternals' credits scene teased big things for the character, we haven't seen him back in the shared universe. It's unclear if he'll ever pop up in an upcoming Marvel movie, but GQ recently spoke to Harington about landing the gig. He explained why he took the role, saying:

There you have it. Sounds like, especially after the Game of Thrones finale, Harington thought it was in his best interest to join the MCU with Eternals. After all, Marvel Studios is owned by Disney, and it's good to make friends with the House of Mouse... even if Dane Whitman's alter ego Black Knight ends up fighting similarly to the way Jon Snow did in Westeros, sword in hand. Although it's unclear if we'll ever see him actually take up that mantle in the shared universe.

Despite Eternals making money at the box office, there hasn't been any indication that the characters or story will end up continuing in the MCU. Recently, Kevin Feige shut down the idea of an Eternals sequel, which is a bummer considering how many plot points were set up during its credits sequences. Although Captain America: Brave New World is expected to address that movie's ending, specifically the Celestial Tiamut's frozen corpse.

If Eternals never gets a solo movie, there may be another opportunity for Harington to possibly return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Namely, the upcoming Blade movie. Because during the Eternals credits scene with Dane, we heard the voice of Mahershala Ali's vampire hero. This was seemingly setting up a connection between the two characters, one fans are curious about seeing play out on the big screen.

With Eternals 2 not happening for the time being and Blade hit with years of delays, it's a mystery as to if/when Harington will actually return to the MCU. But it seems like he's happy he took the job in the end.

Viewers who've been taking in the 2024 TV schedule marked the end of House of the Dragon Season 2, which ignited some very familiar memories of pop culture’s recent past. As some have seriously panned what they’ve seen, it feels like the ghosts of Game of Thrones’ divisive series finale are haunting us yet again. And, in his own way, star Kit Harington has exorcised those demons in a recent interview. It was during that chat that Harington talked about how quickly the perception of the HBO series had changed during his time in rehab.

The Jon Snow actor and HBO fixture recently spoke with GQ to promote his role on the new season of the hit series Industry. But, of course, it was probably inevitable that the actor would be asked about his culturally relevant former TV show, which is an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s epic A Song of Ice and Fire storyline. More specifically, as for how the public perception of the show changed amid his stint in rehab, Kit Harington had the following to say:

With all due respect to the man’s sobriety efforts, that’s something akin to Captain America being unfrozen in the modern day and seeing all the changes. For the British actor it must have felt like one moment everyone's talking about the brilliance of "A Knight of Seven Kingdoms," and then the next everyone's taking down the final chapter and its wild decisions.

Kit Harington’s 2019 rehab visit was reported back when it had happened, but what’s interesting to note is the fact that it seems that the Game of Thrones finale wasn’t the cause, as previously speculated. Rather, Harington was working on his own personal wellness journey connected to addiction, and his stay at a Connecticut-based facility happened smack dab in the middle of the madness that surrounded Season 8’s series ender.

That note makes Mr. Harington’s continued remarks about completing rehab simultaneously more upsetting and uplifting. Further taking pride in his efforts, the Eternals cast member shared these recollections:

No matter where anyone stands on the ending of Game of Thrones, that’s not a reflection on the Beast Within star. What does show his character is his openness to discuss his rehab journey, especially in a setting as “vaguely inappropriate” as the pub that he chose for the interview at hand.

His pride is well earned, and his spot on the list of similarly proud celebrity teetotalers could certainly be an inspiration for anyone else who may be looking to face that matter personally. He may not be Jon Snow, but Kit Harington is most certainly a hero to be able to do that.

For quite a few years, Kit Harington was front and center for TV’s biggest event series, and though it’s been five years since Game of Thrones’ series finale, the franchise remains alive and well thanks to HBO’s House of The Dragon, the upcoming Knight of the Seven Kingdoms spinoff, and the lore-focused mobile game Game of Thrones: Legends. That said, the fantasy universe’s widespread popularity doesn’t guarantee that Harington’s public interactions are limited to only those who are familiar with his work.

The actor, whose standalone GoT spinoff was shelved earlier this year, did actually reprise the role of Jon Snow for the game, and has apparently enjoyed his time with the RPG offshoot. What he doesn’t enjoy as much, however, is being roasted by buddies over exchanges with what turned out to be non-fans. Here’s how Harington explained that particular brand of awkwardness in an interview with Page Six:

To be fair to any and every one of Kit Harington's mates who have rousing chuckles over this kind of thing, it's pretty flipping funny, and the actor isn't clueless about why others are so gleeful about it. But it's assumely far less amusing (and more cold-sweat-provoking) in the moment to have allowed hubris to rear its inflated head, only to realize that others aren't asking you to share in any of their lifelong keepsakes, but rather to be an extension of the tool that makes the keepsakes happen.

Still funny for others, though, absolutely. But Harington described it with sli-i-ightly less positive language, before amusingly acknowleding that those aren't the majority of his experiences with fans. In his words:

To have a snapshot of Harington's face in the moment of realization, opposite possibly a twinge of confusion from the person asking for the picture. That's cringe art, my friends, but all in good fun, of course.

It'll be interesting to see if Kit Harington makes a return to the live-action universe based on George R.R. Martin's characters and stories, and how that might affect his future photo-taking opportunities. But for now, fans can look forward to seeing him back on HBO for Season 3 of the corporate-world drama Industry, which is available to stream with a Max subscription for its premiere on Sunday, August 11. In terms of less critically acclaimed projects, his werewolf horror movie The Beast Within hit theaters at the end of July, so keep an eye out for that.

A good pun is hard to resist. Hell, the same goes for a bad pun, and I say when the opportunity presents itself, why not lean in hard with the word play? Critics certainly didn’t fight the feeling after viewing Kit Harington’s new werewolf horror movie, The Beast Within, which hit the 2024 movie release calendar on July 26. Opinions of the flick are fairly subdued, with some reviews saying it “unleashes a monster metaphor” and others calling it “all bark and no bite.”

Kit Harington will forever be remembered for the role of Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, but in The Beast Within, he plays the lycanthrope Noah. The story is centered around his 10-year-old daughter Willow (Caoilinn Springall) who comes to discover her father’s secret. The film also stars Ashleigh Cummings as Willow’s mother Imogen and James Cosmo as Ashleigh’s father Waylon. In the first of our punny critics’ reactions, Vikram Murthi of IndieWire gives it a C-, saying the movie “transforms” into a clunky metaphor for domestic violence. The critic writes:

Jordan Mintzer of THR agrees, saying the movie “has more bark than bite.” The critic admits the premise is intriguing but that it doesn’t offer anything actually frightening past a few predictable jumpscares. In Mintzer’s words:

Robert Brian Taylor of Collider doubled up on the puns, also saying The Beast Within is “all bark, no bite,” and calling it “dull-toothed.” Despite a good performance from Ashleigh Cummings, it fails to commit to being either a strong werewolf movie or a compelling family drama stuck in a domestic nightmare. Taylor gives it a 3 out of 10, writing:

Dennis Harvey of Variety, meanwhile, writes that Kit Harington “gets hairy” in the thriller (and apparently naked, as he also does in his new play). The critic says the movie wants to be taken seriously as a domestic psychological drama but lacks the substance to inspire either suspense or empathy. Harvey continues:

Meagan Navarro of Bloody Disgusting, however, credits director Alexander J. Farrell, who “unleashes a monster metaphor” with The Beast Within, examining the havoc domestic abuse wreaks on families. Navarro rates it 3 out of 5 skulls, writing:

The movie currently holds a 41% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Check your local theaters to see where to catch The Beast Within if Kit Harington’s new werewolf flick sounds like one you need to see for yourself.

Kit Harington has returned to Game of Thrones…but not in the way you might think. Months after news broke that the Jon Snow spinoff was dead in the water, the actor returned to the world of Westeros (sort of) to announce a new video game associated with the franchise. While this is exciting and all, it honestly makes me more mad about the spinoff that never was.

Zynga launched Game of Thrones: Legends, and to announce it to the world, they had Kit Harington come back to talk about the game while embodying Jon Snow. While he wasn’t wearing the robes he donned when he was in the GOT cast, the dramatic performance was there, and it was very fun, take a look:

Game of Thrones: Legends is an RPG puzzle game for phones, and it “incorporates content and characters” from GOT and House of the Dragon. The announcement video features Harington dramatically playing the game as if he’s Jon Snow, and then he comedically snaps out of it and has a silly interaction with a fan.

The actor was excited about the game, and he explained that enthusiasm in a press release about its launch:

The game features missions, like working to claim the Iron Throne, and characters including Jon Snow, Rhaenyra Targaryen, Arya Stark, The Hound, Criston Cole and more. The goal is to lead your own house to victory by completing puzzles, making allies and strategically fighting.

Of course, this all sounds fun, and it’s exciting to see Harington back and in character as the beloved Jon Snow. However, it also feels like salt in the wound when it comes to the spinoff about his character that we’ll never see.

Yes, It Makes Me Even More Salty About the Jon Snow Spinoff

A little over two years ago, it was reported that HBO was developing a Jon Snow sequel series. Harington’s involvement in it was also made clear, however, in April of this year, news broke that it would no longer be happening.

As a massive fan of the actor and his character, I was stoked about this series, and I was deeply bummed when it didn’t come to fruition. So, yeah, seeing him come back and kind of reprise his beloved role for a video game ad hurt a bit, and it reminded me about what never was.

However, I’m working to get over that (because it has been hard), and I’m focusing on the positive. For example, while this spinoff never happened, there are lots of upcoming Game of Thrones shows that are, like the Dunk and Egg series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight (which is currently in production).

Along with that, Season 2 of House of the Dragon is currently airing on the 2024 TV schedule, and it’s been fabulous so far!

All around, there’s a lot of Game of Thrones content to go around, including this new game and the ad Kit Harington did for it. However, I’ll always wonder what could have been when it comes to that Jon Snow spinoff.

The actor has four Emmys for playing the role, he starred in all 280 episodes of the comedy, and his character even inspired a spinoff, Young Sheldon, which came to an end in 2024 after its own seven-season run. 

Kit Harington – Jon Snow, Game of Thrones

The world was introduced to Kit Harington because of Game of Thrones, and he will always be remembered as the heroic Jon Snow. His role in the GOT cast was vital, and over the years, as we watched him battle it out at The Wall and work toward saving Westeros from winter, it was impossible not to fall for him. Now, while Harington has been in numerous other projects since then, it’s impossible not to think of him as this epic fantasy hero first. 

Emma Watson – Hermione Granger, Harry Potter

These days, Emma Watson doesn’t act anymore, and she’s killing with her gin company Renais. However, she’ll also always be remembered as a wonderful actress who brought life to the beloved witch Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films.

While many Marvel actors have become synonymous with their characters, one who really stands out is Chris Hemsworth and Thor. Physically, the Australian actor perfectly embodies the God of Thunder, and throughout his time playing the character he added an unexpected sense of humor to the role – especially post-Thor: Ragnarok – that he’ll be remembered forever for. 

Kristen Stewart – Bella Swan, Twilight

Twilight, the debate about Team Edward vs. Team Jacob and Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan took over the zeitgeist between 2008-2012. To this day, while she’s gone on to star in incredible films like Spencer and Love Lies Bleeding, the role that made her a household name is one of the parts she’ll always be remembered for.

Heath Ledger is widely regarded as the best Joker, because of his commanding performance as the legendary Batman villain in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. This movie was also one of his last before his untimely death, and he won a posthumous Oscar for his incredible take on the infamous big bad.

Millie Bobby Brown has made quite a few successful films, like the Enola Holmes movies. However, it’s undeniable that the role that will define her career is Eleven in Stranger Things. She was only 12 when she started playing the mysterious super-powered human, and over the course of the show’s five-season run, both she and the ensemble of the Netflix series, have become pop culture icons because of the show. 

William Shatner – Captain Kirk, Star Trek

If you take a look at the four projects listed at the top of William Shatner’s IMDb page, all of them are Star Trek movies where he played Captain Kirk. The man starred in seven films and a long-running TV show as the beloved captain, so of course it’s what he’s best known for.

The Wizard of Oz is a film that has raised generations of kids since 1939, and it’s still a family classic. So, when you lead a beloved musical like that, as Judy Garland did, and it remains relevant and loved for over eight decades, obviously, the role you’ll always be known for is that one.

Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, those are all the names Emilia Clarke’s dragon rider went by in Game of Thrones, and she gave an absolutely commanding performance as her. While her ending wasn’t what most wanted, there’s no denying how amazing it was to see Daenerys rise from a woman trying to survive to a powerful leader, and that’s because of how brilliant Clarke was in the role. 

Mark Hamill – Luke Skywalker, Star Wars

He was the face of the original trilogy, and you can’t think about Star Wars without thinking about Mark Hamill and Luke Skywalker. While the actor is well-known for other roles, especially in the world of voice acting, his most prominent part has to be this. 

Gal Gadot – Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman

Sadly, there aren’t many superhero movies led by women. However, luckily, we do have a few wonderful ones, and that includes Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. She played the beloved hero with so much grace, poise and strength, and she’ll 100% always be remembered for it. 

Obviously, while all these actors have played other prominent roles in well-known movies and shows, there’s no question that when we consider their legacies, these parts will be the first ones we think about. They’re that iconic, and we have these performers to thank for them. 

Kit Harington has taken some interesting creative swings over the course of his career, but his latest endeavor may arguably be one of his boldest. The fan-favorite actor is taking his talents back to the stage for a play, which includes a very steamy scene. More specifically, the production includes a sex sequence that will require Harington to get stark nude. Unsurprisingly, the theater hosting the play wants to ensure that the stars involved have some level of privacy. And that’s why the organization is reportedly going to great lengths to ensure that fans don’t record the scene.

The 37-year-old Game of Thrones alum is starring in Slave Play at the Noël Coward Theatre, which is located in London’s West End. Said production just kicked off its run, and it’s expected to last for three months. Conceived by Jeremy O. Harris, the production focuses on multiple interracial couples who participate in "Antebellum Sexual Performance Therapy." As part of that process, they must conduct role play while on a fictional slave plantation. Joining the ex-Jon Snow actor for this presentation of the play, which originally debuted in 2018, is Olivia Washington, the 33-year-old daughter of Denzel Washington.

An insider recently spoke with The Sun, providing details on how Noël Coward is seeking to prevent the sex scene from leaking. Per this unnamed individual, the theater is putting stickers on play attendees’ phones in order to stop from filming. Not only that, but the news outlet also reports that anyone who does whip out their phone in an attempt to film video could face prosecution. As for the scene itself, the source had the following to say:

Although this may sound like a lot, it definitely makes sense as to why the theater company would enact such measures. A major reason is that Kit Harington is very famous and still widely known for his role on Game of Thrones (which is streamable with a Max subscription). As Jon Snow, the British actor became a pop culture icon, to say the least. So it’s very plausible that more than a few people might want to capture some footage of his bare body and send it to the interwebs. And, if you don’t believe that, then you should know that there’s precedent for this kind of situation.

Jesse Williams got naked for a play, Take Me Out following the conclusion of his full-time stint on Grey’s Anatomy. The Broadway revival of this early 2000s production had strict rules for audience members, though some did record with their phones. As a result, footage of Williams in the buff went viral. Although the clips hitting the web was unfortunate, Williams himself was game for the nude scenes themselves, arguing that audiences need to be “confronted” with the reality of the human body.

For his part, Kit Harington, is reportedly taking everything in stride like the Grey’s actor. The source provided further alleged details on the Eternals actor’s approach to the work:

While these details can’t be officially verified, it’s honestly not surprising to hear that Kit Harington would be a pro about all of this. The GoT alum has, after all, proven himself to be an artist who’s dedicated to his craft. Let’s just hope that the theater can protect his privacy so that Harington doesn’t have to suffer for his art in any way.

Is it really May if it doesn’t start with Justin Timberlake being trolled over “It’s Gonna Be May?” The answer, in this day and age, is no. Every April 30 and May 1 the memes roll in, and we all get a kick out of *NSYNC and the way “Me” is pronounced in their hit song “It’s Gonna Be Me.” Now, Joey Fatone has spoken up about his favorite meme surrounding the boyband’s hit song, and it features Timberlake and Game of Thrones.

While *NSYNC went viral earlier this year for their reunion at the VMAs, every single year they go viral for their song and the fact that "me" sounds like "May" in it. Speaking about the annual internet tradition, Fatone told People about his favorite memes of the track, and the one he sent to Justin Timberlake. The singer said:

If you Google “Game of Thrones ‘It’s Gonna Be May’” what comes up is a horrendously Photoshopped image of Sean Bean’s Ned Stark with Justin Timberlake’s face on it. Then in classic meme font, the post says:

You know, it’s like “Winter is coming,” it’s hilarious! However, unlike Winter, May always comes and we aren’t waiting seasons for it. Like Winter though, the inevitability of the “It’s Gonna Be May” memes coming is real, and the fact that this is true is hysterical. 

I like to picture one of the Night’s Watchmen in the Game of Thrones cast, like Jon Snow, on The Wall waiting for May to come. Or, it’s really funny to think about them saying “May is coming” in that thick Northern accent. All around, the more you think about this meme, the better it gets.

Now, the history of this meme also makes the GOT spoof better. The story behind “It’s Gonna Be Me” begins in the recording studio where Timberlake was asked to pronounce “may” instead of “me” because the Swedish producer Max Martin told him to. While on Hot Ones, the singer said:

Oh yeah, it was memorable all right! Now, it’s been 24 years since the song’s release, and the memes are still going strong. They’re so strong in fact that they crossover with other pop culture juggernauts like Game of Thrones.

Overall, the last day of April and the first day of May are always a good time, because it's a silly reminder of the banger that is “It’s Gonna Be Me.” 

While the GOT meme insinuates that the memes are a bad thing, they’re not, they’re always funny. Personally, I can’t wait for 2025 to see them arise again. But for now, I’ll be listening to Justin Timberlake sing “me” in a way that sounds like “May” on repeat, and streaming Game of Thrones with a Max subscription. 

Every so often HBO releases a new show that becomes a TV sensation. Game of Thrones was definitely in that category, with plenty of fans re-watching the series with a Max subscription. Following that controversial GoT series finale, a number of plans were made to continue the story of Westeros on the small screen. That includes a spinoff for Jon Snow, which has unfortunately been dropped according to Kit Harington himself. But as a Game of Thrones fan, I'm honestly a little relieved the network dropped the show when it did. Let's break it all down.

Fans are currently anticipating Season 2 of House of the Dragon, but there were a number of other GoT spinoffs announced. Given the wild popularity of Kit Harington's Jon Snow, he seemed like a prime choice for his own show. But while speaking with Variety, the Eternals actor revealed that plans have halted, saying:

While this might be a disappointing update for fans of Thrones who want to return to where the main timeline left off in the show's final season, I'm actually not bothered. Because as Harington explained, they struggled with finding the right story to tell. And I'd rather the project be DOA rather than starting strong and not having concrete direction for the show's overall narrative.

My feelings about the scrapped Jon Snow show are likely influenced by how things went down during Game of Thrones' last few seasons. When the show started it closely followed George R.R. Martin's novels. But the author takes a long time to write each novel, and the series eventually surpassed the story in the books. And as such, the show had to make some bold choices to keep the story going. 

Another reason why the loss of the Jon Snow series isn't too painful is because we've already gotten to return to the franchise. House of the Dragon has been super popular, and the show's second season will air starting this June. The series has already been a wild ride, especially with various Dragons flying around Westeros. 

That spinoff is scratching the itch for Game of Thrones fans like myself, who are happy to be back in the brutal franchise. And as such, the Jon Snow show feels less essential. What's more, another GOT series is also coming down the line: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is expected to premiere as soon as 2025.

A large chunk of Marvel’s Phase Four was dedicated to setting up possible threads on which the studio could pull. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ended with a mysterious signal being sent out… by whom? We had no idea. As Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness drew to a close, the Sorcerer Supreme was summoned to the Dark Dimension by Clea (played by Charlize Theron). We don’t know when we are going to see them again. And Eternals, released in 2021, dropped two mid-credits scenes that teased out the development of key characters. Only, one of them seems to be going nowhere (and I fear the others will follow suit). 

Let’s talk about the scene involving Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman, a character introduced in Eternals who – in the comics – would go on to become the Black Knight. His fate was somewhat teased in an end-credits sequence that found him discovering the Ebony Blade. The scene played out like so:

There were even rumors that the person who whispered to Dane off screen was Blade… though, we have no development on that movie at the moment, either. Which brings us back to Game of Thrones icon Kit Harington, who recently told ScreenRant that there are no plans for The Black Knight to appear in the MCU, meaning the Eternals mid-credits scene is a narrative dead end for the time being. Harington said:

One problem facing the MCU through Phases 4 and 5 is that they planned too much, and then had to step back and see what was worth pursuing. There’s still a tremendous emphasis on the Multiverse in current MCU storytelling. But what of Riri Williams (introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), or the power of Gi’ah (Emilia Clarke) that was rolled out in Secret Invasion? Even staying in the Eternals ballpark, are we ever going to see Harry Styles on screen as Eros? Based on what Kit Harington says, my guess is no.

Kit Harington will next appear in Blood For Dust, in theaters and on digital beginning April 19. Meanwhile, these are the upcoming Marvel movies that we can confirm. There are a lot of eggs in the basket of Deadpool & Wolverine at the moment. And the launch of the MCU’s The Fantastic Four will be highly scrutinized. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess, with a ton of potential directions, but also a ton of decisions that Kevin Feige and his team need to make. 

HBO's Game of Thrones ran for eight legendary seasons, airing 73 episodes in total. The sprawling epic included dozens of storylines and even more characters. According to IMDB, 843 different actors appeared on the show, including these 32 who appeared in the most episodes. 

There are some surprising characters that don't appear on this list, like Ramsey Bolton (Iwan Rheon), his father Roose Bolton (Michael McElhatton), Ollena Tyrell (Diane Rigg), and, of course, Ned Stark (Sean Bean), and Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa), who didn't live long enough to be on it.

Tyrion Lannister - 67 Episodes

Peter Dinklage's character, Tyrion Lannister, appears in more episodes than any other character on Game of Thrones. The cleverest member of the Lannister clan appeared in 67 of the 73 episodes. He's introduced in the very first episode and makes it all the way to the last one. 

Cersei Lannister - 62 Episodes

The villain we all loved to hate, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) appeared in an amazing 62 episodes. For a character that was in the middle of all the palace intrigue, who made as many enemies as Cersei did, it's a wonder she made it as far as she did. Like her siblings, Cersei was introduced in the first episode of the show, and made it to the 72nd episode, when she was killed when the Red Keep collapsed on her and her brother Jaime. 

Daenerys Targaryen - 62 Episodes

Daenerys Targaryen's character arc from the meek sister of a pretender king to a strong leader to a bloodthirsty tyrant is one of the most controversial arcs in TV history. It all began in the first episode of the series and ended in the controversial final episode. Emilia Clarke's character was in a total of 62 episodes over that time. 

Jon Snow - 62 Episodes

The broody Jon Snow (Kit Harington), has one of the craziest storylines of the series, taking him from Winterfell to The Wall, to the Red Keep, and everywhere in between. Audiences met Jon in the first episode, along with the rest of the Starks, and he makes it all the way to the end. It might not have ended for Jon the way some people wanted, but at least he's alive at the show's conclusion. 

Sansa Stark - 59 Episodes

Another character with an insane story arc is Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner). It unfolds over 59 episodes, starting with the first and ending with the last. She goes from a sweet summer child in the beginning, to one of the toughest and coldest leaders in The North by the end. Sansa has a brutal life over the course of the series, but it leads to somewhere great. 

Arya Stark - 59 Episodes

Viewers first met the second youngest Stark child, Arya (Maisie Williams), in the first episode when King Robert came to visit Winterfell. Through 59 episodes over all eight seasons, Arya turns into one of the best assassins in Westeros after her travels take her from her home up north, to King's Landing, to Braavos, and back again, finally ending up at Winterfell for one of the biggest moments of the series, when she takes out the Night King. 

Jaime Lannister - 55 Episodes

It's no surprise that Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is on this list, with 55 episodes. Jaime and his sister Cersei first appeared in the premiere, making quite a mark for the things he would do for love. He also has one of the least satisfying story arcs, after ditching Lady Brienne to return to his toxic relationship with his sister. The Kingslayer almost finds redemption before giving it all up for misguided love. 

Jorah Mormont - 52 Episodes

Ser Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen), Daenerys' faithful guard makes it 52 episodes in Game of Thrones. He appears by his queen's side in the first episode and through eight seasons of ups and downs, including a long banishment from Daenerys' Queens Guard. In the end, Jorah gets the noble death he deserves in the second episode of Season 8, defending the Mother of Dragons in the Battle of Winterfell against the White Walkers.

Samwell Tarly - 48 Episodes

Jon Snow's most loyal companion is Samwell Tarly (John Bradley). Jon meets Sam at Castle Black in the fourth episode of Season 1 and they remain the best of friends until the end. After a journey that takes him all over Westeros, Sam makes it to the end of the final episode. 

Theon Greyjoy - 47 Episodes

Possibly no one had a rougher time in Game of Thrones than Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). That's not to say he didn't deserve some of the unspeakable things that happened to him, as he was pretty awful from the time we met in the first episode until he finally redeems himself in Season 8. Like so many others, Theon falls at the Battle of Winterfell after defending Bran for as long as he can. Theon made it a total of 47 episodes. 

Varys - 46 Episodes

Lord Varys, the Spider, played by Conleth Hill, is always lurking in the shadows. For 46 episodes of Game of Thrones, he is mixing things up behind the scenes. Audiences first meet the Master of Whisperers when Ned Stark attends his first small council meeting in Episode 3 of Season 1. Varys is still helping make decisions for the realm in the final episode of the series. 

Davos Seaworth - 42 Episodes

Ser Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham), the pirate-turned-knight is a fan favorite who first appeared in Episode 1 of Season 2 as an advisor to Stannis Baratheon. Though he comes from humble beginnings, he rises all the way to Master of Ships under King Bran in the final episode of the show. 

Brienne Of Tarth - 42 Episodes

One of the most noble people in all of Westeros is Brienne of Tarth, played by Gwendoline Christie. We don't meet Brienne until Episode 3 of Season 2, but from there, she becomes a key character in a number of different stories. She has one of the most satisfying conclusions when she is named Commander of the King's Guard in the final episode. 

Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish - 41 Episodes

Aidan Gillen's character, Petyr Baelish, better known by his nickname, Littlefinger, plays a massive role in the battle for the throne throughout the series. As Master of Coin, viewers first meet Littlefinger in Episode 3 of Season 1. Though he puts himself in danger a number of times with his conniving actions, he makes it 42 episodes, before dying at the hands of Arya in the Season 7 finale.   

Bran Stark - 40 Episodes

Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) plays one of the most pivotal roles throughout the run of Game of Thrones. In a way, he is responsible for everything that happens after he is thrown from the window by Jaime at the end of the very first episode, and in the end, it's Bran that becomes King at the end of the series, which surprised most fans of the show.

Sandor "The Hound" Clegane - 38 Episodes

Rory McCann's portrayal of Sandor "The Hound" Clegane is one of the best on the show. He's funny, tough, scary, and sometimes, even kind. It's a hard line to walk for an actor and McCann does it brilliantly for 38 episodes, from the first in the series until the second-to-last episode when he dies with his brother, The Mountain. 

Missandei - 38 Episodes 

Daenerys Targaryen's righthand woman, Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel), is one of the most loyal people on the show, serving Dany as both an advisor and a good friend. Fans first meet Missandei in the first episode of Season 3 and watch her through 38 episodes, until she is killed on Cersei's order in Episode 4 of Season 8.

Bronn - 37 Episodes

Jerome Flynn's Bronn is the ultimate survivor. While he's a sellsword when we first meet him, when he fights as Tyrion's champion for his trial by combat at the Eyrie in Episode 4 of Season 1, he ends up a high lord and Master of Coin by the end of the series after appearing in 37 episodes, right down to the final one. 

Podrick Payne - 35 Episodes

Podrick Payne (Daniel Portman) is a ladies' man, which is one of the funniest recurring jokes on Game of Thrones. He's also a loyal squire to Brienne until he is promoted to the Kingsguard in the final episode. The popular Podrick appears in 35 episodes in total, from Episode 2 of Season 2, until the end. 

Grey Worm - 34 Episodes

Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) is the former slave, freed by Dany, and becomes Dany's most loyal soldier. He appears in a total of 34 episodes, starting in Season 3 and making it to the final episode and living to see another day. 

Eddison Tollett - 34 Episodes

Viewers first meet Eddison Tollett (Ben Crompton) in Episode 1 of Season 2 as a member of the Night's Watch. Always faithful to Jon Snow, Edd is a key member of the watch, though not a major character in the show. Still, he appears in 34 episodes, until his death at the Battle of Winterfell in Season 8.

Tormund Giantsbane - 33 Episodes

Everyone's favorite Wildling warrior, Tormund, played by Kristofer Hivju, appears in 33 episodes. We meet him later in the series, in Episode 1 of Season 3, but luckily for everyone, he makes it to the end, traveling with Jon Snow north of what's left of The Wall to live with the other Wildlings. 

Grand Maester Pycelle - 31 Episodes

Grand Maester Pycelle, played by the great Julian Glover, is a weaseling character, loyal to the Lannisters. That is, until he is betrayed by Cersei and her defrocked Maester, Qyburn. Still, he appears in 31 episodes from Season 1 until his death in Season 6. 

Melisandre - 29 Episodes

As despicable as Melisandre (Carice van Houten) is, it's remarkable that she survives until Season 8. Appearing in a total of 29 episodes, the Red Woman's allegiances change a couple of times, though nothing will ever excuse what she did to Stannis' daughter. 

Tywin Lannister - 27 Episodes

Charles Dance's performance as Tywin Lannister is one of the best in all of Game Of Thrones. Over 27 episodes from Season 1 through his death in the privy in Season 8, Tywin is a villain everyone loves to hate. 

Gilly - 27 Episodes

Gilly (Hannah Murray) is one of the most sympathetic characters in the brutal world of Games of Thrones. The former Wildling daughter/wife of Craster escapes with Sam and her son and they survive together until the very end of show. Gilly appears in 27 episodes from Season 2 through the finale. 

Margaery Tyrell - 26 Episodes

Margaery Tyrell, played by Natalie Dormer, is a polarizing character in Game of Thrones. She has a knack for playing the game well and married not one, but two kings throughout her 26-episode run between Seasons 1 and 6, but ultimately she is outplayed by Cersei when she is killed in the Sept of Baelor explosion. 

Joffrey Baratheon - 26 episodes

There is no question that Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) is one of the greatest villains on Game of Thrones and in TV history. Almost from the moment audiences met him in the first episode, we hated him. That hatred only grew over the next 26 episodes that he appears in, until finally, we all get what we wanted when he is poisoned at his own wedding. 

Catelyn Stark - 25 episodes

Maybe the most tragic character on Game of Thrones is Stark matriarch Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley). She sees her husband die, her daughter held hostage, and her son Robb die. It's all too much for her take by the end of her 25-episode arc when she dies at the Red Wedding, after being introduced in the fist episode. 

Barristan Selmy - 25 episodes

Barristan Selmy (Ian McElhinney) is another close advisor to Dany. Though not as close to her as Jorah, he's still an important member of her Queen's Guard after his banishment from Joffrey's Kings Guard. His run lasted for 25 episodes until he is killed helping Grey Worm against the Sons of the Harpy.

Gregor "The Mountain" Clagane - 24 Episodes

Sandor Cleagane's brother, Gregor "The Mountain" Cleagane, is a knight of few words. Eventually, after his poisoning in a trial by combat, he's a man of no words. He's still one of the most fearsome knights in the realm. Three different actors played The Mountain throughout the 24 episodes he appeared in, Conan Stevens (Season 1) Ian Whyte (Season 2), and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (Seasons 4-8).

Gendry Baratheon - 24 Episodes

Although we meet the illegitimate son of King Robert, Gendry (Joe Dempsie) in Season 1, his character arc takes him in and out of the series, and despite appearing in seven of the eight seasons, he only shows up in 24 episodes. 

There are a handful of characters that just missed the cut here, like Ramsey Bolton, Robb Stark, and Stannis Baratheon, and a whole lot more fan favorites that are way down the list because they appeared in far fewer shows than you'd guess. But these are the characters that appeared the most. 

Soon, Game of Thrones fans and lovers of horror movies will have a project to rally around, because two of the Stark children are reuniting for a new scary movie called The Dreadful. That's right, Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are coming back together for a scary movie, and the former Queen of the North had the absolute cutest response following the breaking news about the project. 

Almost five years have passed since the memorable GoT finale where we saw Sansa Stark named Queen of the North and Jon Snow guiding the Wildlings beyond the Wall. Hence, the idea of a Stark family reunion seems far overdue. It appears it's finally happening, thanks to the upcoming horror movie, The Dreadful. Following the project's announcement, Turner took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the pair's forthcoming collaboration, and frankly, it's adorable. The Dark Phoenix star shared the Deadline article accompanied with the post:

The Dreadful is touted as a film steeped in gothic horror traditions, embracing the genre's penchant for setting its tales in bygone eras. The story unfolds during the tumultuous period of England's 15th-century War of the Roses, featuring Sophie Turner in the role of Anne, a young woman enduring a bleak existence with her mother-in-law on society's fringes. The arrival of a figure from Anne's past, portrayed by Kit Harington, marks the beginning of a series of events that promise to be a pivotal moment in the young woman’s life. In addition to her role in front of the camera, the actress also plays a vital role behind the scenes as a producer.

Since their time on the acclaimed series Game of Thrones—which ended in a finale that received mixed reactions — Sophie Turner and Kit Harington have been anything but idle. 

Turner took a brief hiatus from acting before diving into various roles. She portrayed the formidable Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, plus she took part in HBO's crime series The Staircase, and the 2022 dark comedy Do Revenge. Her private life also made headlines with her marriage and subsequent separation from Joe Jonas. 

On the other hand, Harington also ventured into the realm of superhero films with a role in Marvel's The Eternals. He also participated in Apple's series Extrapolations, and he is set to appear in the forthcoming third season of HBO's Industry.

Since the conclusion of the original adventure in Westeros in 2019, there has been speculation about several potential Thrones spinoffs in the works, including one focusing on Jon Snow with Kit Harington reprising his role. According to George R. R. Martin, the concept for the spinoff originated from the actor himself. Currently referred to as Snow, the project hasn’t had any recent updates. Martin and HBO top brass seem to be prioritizing other Game of Thrones-related content, such as the second season of the prequel House of the Dragon and the animated series Nine Voyages, which centers on the adventures of Corlys Velaryon.

While a return to the world of Ice & Fire for either Harington or Turner is yet to be seen, we can at least rejoice that the two will grace the screen together once more in The Dreadful. 

It's been nearly five years since we saw Sansa Stark get crowned Queen in the North and her half-brother Jon Snow lead the Wildlings to the lands beyond the Wall in that polarizing Game of Thrones series finale. So it's high time for a Stark family reunion, and I'm not the only one who thinks so, as GoT alums Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are officially set to reteam for a gothic horror film.

As reported by Deadline, the duo will share the screen together for the first time since leaving the world of Westeros in The Dreadful, a horror flick written and directed by Iranian-American filmmaker Natasha Kermani (Lucky, V/H/S/85). 

Set against the backdrop of England's War of the Roses in the 15th century, the movie will star Turner as Anne, a young woman who lives "a solitary, harsh life" alongside her mother-in-law on the outskirts of society. That all changes, however, when a man from Anne's past (played by Harington) shows up and sets off “a sequence of events that become a turning point for Anne.” Along with acting, Turner is attached to the project as a producer.  

Following the eight-season run of the HBO fantasy epic—during which time she made her acting debut as Sansa Stark and scored a 2019 Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series—Sophie Turner kept busy with the 2019 X-Men flick Dark Phoenix, the HBO crime drama The Staircase and the 2022 black comedy Do Revenge. (She also married and divorced a certain Jonas brother.) 

Meanwhile, Harington—a fellow Emmy nominee for his turn as Game of Thrones' Jon Snow né Aegon Targaryen (and, no, that's not a spoiler, the show has been off the air for half a decade!)—has starred in Apple's Extrapolations, Marvel's Eternals and the upcoming third season of HBO's Industry since hanging up his Night Watch cloak. 

There have also been relentless rumors about a Jon Snow-centered Game of Thrones spinoff starring Harington since the original series ended back in 2019. The spinoff was allegedly the actor's idea, per George R. R. Martin, who wrote in a 2022 blogpost on his personal website: 

Tentatively titled Snow, that project is seemingly still in limbo, as George R. R. Martin and the powers-that-be are instead focusing on other Game of Thrones spinoffs including a second season of the prequel series House of the Dragon and the animated series Nine Voyages, which follows the character of Corlys Velaryon.

If Snow ever does get made though, Harington is reportedly set to reprise his most famous role. Maybe there'll even be a cameo part available for his royal half-sister? After all, we can't help but get a little giddy every time we see the House Stark siblings together again. For now though, at least there's The Dreadful to look forward to from these actors.

Game of Thrones came to an end back in 2019, but creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss are still fielding questions about the world of Westeros after the original series' controversial ending. HBO is continuing to expand that fantasy universe with House of the Dragon and other upcoming Game of Thrones spinoffs in the works. While the duo's next project is 3 Body Problem for Netflix subscribers later this year, they weighed in on potentially working on a Thrones spinoff starring Kit Harington as Jon Snow. And honestly, their response to the question is not what I would have predicted.

3 Body Problem arrives on Netflix as one of the upcoming book-to-screen adaptations of 2024, but the two Game of Thrones alums shared their thoughts to THR on a potential return to the world of Westeros many years in the future via the Snow spinoff. David Benioff's initial response was "I don't know," before Dan Weiss elaborated on the hypothetical scenario:

The two seem on board to potentially return to the Game of Thrones universe... eventually, even after their comments earlier this year regarding getting "bogged down in public opinion" about how the epic fantasy series ended. The mention of Kit Harington needing to have done a lot of working out for a Jon Snow sequel set years later is interesting, not least because a Snow series could just give the actor a lighter cloak. After all, he was headed beyond the remains of the Wall at the end of the series, and he presumably has some more varied clothing options among the Free Folk!

The question was about a Jon Snow series set many years in the future, and Weiss placed the actor in his 40s. At the time of writing, Kit Harington is 37. The Thrones creators then weighed in on the idea of a spinoff being more interesting after a passage of some time:

The Color of Money ranks on our list of films that took over a decade to get a sequel, as the 1986 movie was a followup to The Hustler, which had originally released 25 years earlier in 1961. Given that The Color of Money is considered worth the long wait, could that be the case for a Jon Snow series, with David Benioff and Dan Weiss at the helm?

Of course, the creators were clear that the entire idea is very hypothetical, so Game of Thrones fans – whether or not they enjoyed the finale, which was divisive even among the CinemaBlend staff – shouldn't start expecting a Snow series produced by Benioff and Weiss. It's also worth noting that Snow is currently still in development after first being announced in mid-2022, with Kit Harington attached. No series order has been announced just yet. 

Maisie Williams, who played Harington's on-screen sister/cousin Arya Stark, showed her support for the project. For his part, Harington shared his thoughts on Jon's state of mind after being banished to the Wall, calling that fate "the greatest gift and also the greatest curse" for his character. 

For now, the only confirmed Game of Thrones spinoff content set to arrive in the foreseeable future is House of the Dragon Season 2 with war unfolding within the Targaryen family tree. While the second season hasn't received an official premiere date at the time of writing, the series is expected to return in the summer. As for David Benioff and Dan Weiss, you can find 3 Body Problem when it arrives in the 2024 Netflix schedule later this year. 

It’s not uncommon for fans of any popular TV show or movie to confuse the stars of those productions with the characters they’re portraying. How much of a problem this is for the actors who have to deal with it certainly varies (and I can only imagine it’s especially annoying for those who play villainous characters). Whatever the role, however, being treated like someone you’re not certainly has its challenges, and Game of Thrones star Kit Harington recently opened up about the mental health rabbit hole he went through after playing Jon Snow on the HBO saga. 

Kit Harington got real about his mental health on the upcoming podcast The Hidden 20%, talking about his struggles with alcohol that led him to go to rehab after Game of Thrones ended its eight-season run in 2019. In the episode he said (via the Daily Mail) that his issues got worse as the series’ popularity increased, telling host Ben Branson: 

Because fans expected him to be like Jon Snow, Kit Harington said he tried “to project this image of utter sophistication and coolness about what I was doing but genuinely being sort of terrified about everything.” 

While there was certainly a lot of praise being heaped on the actor at the time, he said he was particularly bothered by “demeaning” comments like being called “Game of Thrones hunk Kit Harington.” Seeing what was being said about him was a slippery slope, he said: 

Thankfully Kit Harington was able to step away from acting for a year after the series inspired by George R. R. Martin’s books concluded. Now fans continue to hope that they’ll see Jon Snow again in one of the upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff series. 

The GoT series finale saw Jon Snow exiled from Seven Kingdoms as punishment for being a Queenslayer, and was sent back to The Wall with the Free Folk to live the rest of his life as a member of the Night’s Watch. In June 2022 it was announced that a Jon Snow-centered sequel was in development, with Kit Harington tapped to reprise the role and continue the popular character’s adventures.

However, as of November 2023, HBO CEO Casey Bloys provided an update on the franchise’s in-development scripts, saying that other than the Tales of Dunk and Egg adaptation, there’s nothing else in that world that’s close to being green-lit.

The Game of Thrones franchise became a sensation during the show’s run on HBO, inspiring more fans to check out George R.R. Martin’s novels set in Westeros. GoT ended with its controversial final season, but the property recently expanded thanks to the prequel show House of the Dragon. And now we’ve got an update about other Game of Thrones scripts in development at HBO, from Jon Snow’s sequel series to Dunk and Egg. Someone cue the theme song!

Those with a HBO subscription are able to see all the wild murder and twists from the GoT universe, with fans eagerly anticipating House of the Dragon Season 2. But there’s been chatter about a number of other Westerosi projects, so what’s the deal? HBO CEO Casey Bloys recently got honest about the other spinoffs, and made it clear that no other projects are a sure thing. That includes the Jon Snow series starring Kit Harington. While he confirmed the Tales of Dunk and Egg adaptation was green lit and ordered to series, that’s the only one. As he shared with TV Line,

There you have it. In addition to House of the Dragon, it looks like there’s only one other series from Game of Thrones that’s been actually ordered by the network. And it ain’t the Jon Snow series, it’s the upcoming take on George R.R. Martin’s novellas Tales of Dunk and Egg. Sorry to all the Snow fans who have been waiting for Kit Harington’s spinoff.

As previously mentioned, the franchise returned to the small screen with House of the Dragon, whose first season was well received by fans. HOTD was able to keep filming amidst the strikes, so Season 2 should presumably arrive as planned. As for the Jon Snow series, it’s unclear if it’ll ever come to fruition. In the same interview, Bloys spoke about mining other Westerosi stories, saying:

That was pretty cut and dry. For now fans will be treated to HOTD and Dunk and Egg, which is presumably deep into its development process. While it’s still possible that Jon Snow might get his own show down the line, it’s not a done deal with the network. I guess we really know nothing.

While nothing is official at HBO, it does seem like a Jon Snow sequel to GoT would be an easy narrative leap to make. The Game of Thrones series finale saw Kit Harington’s character punished for being a Queenslayer, and sent back to The Wall to live the rest of his life as a member of the Night’s Watch. He’d presumably have plenty of adventures during this time, so hopefully the spinoff actually ends up happening sometime in the future.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe now spans across multiple realities, so it's only logical that at least one of Marvel's Disney+ series would eventually feature Britain as its core setting. Just such a plan was set to happen sooner rather than later, at least based on recent comments from Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies, who claimed that Marvel reached out about him putting a "British" series together, and I have some thoughts about what it could have been, since he's not even clued in. 

The iconic showrunner, who returned to Doctor Who to help work on its 60th anniversary, recently talked about his conversation with Marvel during an interview with SFX Magazine. Russell T. Davies couldn't say much about the conversation, mainly because he was in the dark on what exactly was being asked as well: 

There's not currently a British Marvel series that's available to watch with a Disney+ subscription, so my guess would be the company either scrapped the plan or it's still in development. So then, what could Marvel have wanted Russell T. Davies on for its shared universe? I have some thoughts, purely based on speculation and what we know about the MCU. 

Captain Britain 

Captain Britain is an obvious choice for a British superhero to get a series, and there have been big names that circled the role over the years. Simon Pegg is a popular name that was attached, and for a time, it seemed like Pegg was interested in bringing Captain Britain to the MCU. The actor later clarified his comments, however, saying he'd rather be an audience member when it comes to hero movies. Still, that doesn't mean Marvel hasn't continued to look for a Captain Britain and had one in mind when Russell T. Davies was approached. 

Black Knight

Dane Whitman popped up at the end of The Eternals and was played by English actor Kit Harington. Harington recently clarified he won't be appearing in the Blade movie, which has me asking what he was brought in to do. The hero Black Knight feels ripe for a Marvel series, and who better than to helm a story about a character steeped in Arthurian legend than someone like Russell T. Davies? It doesn't get more British than that. 

Peggy Carter

The story of Peggy Carter seemed like it could be revived when she was introduced as the variant Captain Carter, but the character's death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that left actress Hayley Atwell frustrated kind of shut the book on that. Still, Carter is a beloved character in the Marvel Universe people seem to get behind, and seeing as Daredevil received another series, maybe she could after Agent Carter? 

A Series Set In Britain, But Not About A British Hero

Another possibility is that Marvel had an idea for a series set in Britain, but not necessarily a story about a British hero. While that might be a bummer to those in the UK, superhero shows like Secret Invasion have featured American characters overseas before. It's not the sexiest option given all discussed prior, but it is a possibility. 

Perhaps more information about a British Marvel series will surface in the coming months. In the meantime, fans of Russell T. Davies can catch his latest efforts when Doctor Who debuts its 60th anniversary on Disney+ starting on Saturday, November 25th. Tune in for a new era of the beloved series, and maybe watch an episode of a Marvel show afterward. 

Across four seasons, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman delivered an all-time great adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective stories with BBC’s Sherlock. The series may be long over (unless we’re lucky enough to see a Season 5), but one co-creator of the series isn’t done with Conan Doyle’s work yet. That's because Mark Gatiss, who created Sherlock alongside Steven Moffat, is behind an upcoming adaptation that will star Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington. 

Lot No. 249 is a gothic horror short story that the Sherlock Holmes author published back in 1892 in between his detective mystery novels. It’s about a University of Oxford athlete named Abercrombie Smith (whom Harington will play) who begins to notice some strange events occurring around an Egyptology student named Edward Bellingham (to be played by Freddie Fox). Per Deadline, the special will be part of BBC’s winter programming. Gatiss said this about the upcoming addition to the 2023 TV schedule:

Over the years, BBC has produced annual short television films known as A Ghost Story For Christmas. The tradition ran originally from 1971 to 1978 before being revived back in 2005. It has aired sporadically across the years with Mark Gatiss serving as the writer/director for the past five editions. 

So far, Gatiss has adapted M.R. James stories like “A View From A Hill”  in 2005, “Number 13”  in 2006, “Oh, Whistle, And I’ll Come To You, My Lad” in 2010, “The Tractate Middoth” in 2013, “Martin’s Close” in 2019, “The Mezzotint” in 2021 and “Count Magnus” in 2022. 

For Lot No. 249, other actors involved include Colin Ryan, John Heffernan, James Swanton, Jonathan Rigby and Andrew Horton. The special was filmed in Hertfordshire, UK and it awaits an official release date. 

Kit Harington’s latest role comes as the actor is also expected to return as Jon Snow in an upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff and has an unknown future in the MCU after his superhero role was briefly set up in 2021’s Eternals. While many thought he might be in the cast of Blade, for example, Harington has since clarified that he was never meant to be in the upcoming vampire movie starring Mahershala Ali. 

On the Sherlock front, the BBC series seems to have told its final mystery for now, as Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have moved on from their iconic roles. Perhaps the most notable adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective since then has been through Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola Holmes movies where Henry Cavill portrayed Mr. Holmes. There are also whispers that a third Sherlock Holmes movie starring Robert Downey Jr. could happen, but it’s not in production. So, even though Sherlock is over, the beloved detective is still very prominent in pop culture.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always expanding, and we’re currently in the midst of Phase Five. One of the most highly anticipated upcoming Marvel movies is definitely the Blade, which will see Mahershala Ali take on the title role made famous by Wesley Snipes. The Oscar-winning actor technically made his MCU debut in the post-credits scene of Eternals, although we only heard his voice. The scene featured Kit Harington's Dane Whitman, and rumors quickly spread that he might have a role in the vampiric blockbuster. And now the Game of Thrones alum has clarified his possible involvement in that new Blade movie.

While Eternals failed to perform at the box office, Chloé Zhao’s movie introduced a ton of new characters that have the potential to become major presences in the larger MCU. While Dane Whitman was a civilian throughout the film’s runtime, the post-credits scene revealed he was in possession of the Ebony Blade, which is an enchanted sword in the comics. Kit Harington recently appeared at Superhero Comic Con, and a video from Twitter showed him addressing that scene, and his rumored role in Blade. He responded honestly, sharing:

Well, there you have it. While Chloé Zhao briefly worked with Mahershala Ali on that Eternals scene, it was seemingly never going to set up Harington's role in Blade. Perhaps a crossover could happen sometime in the future, but the GOT actor made it clear that he’s not going to appear in the upcoming reboot. We’ll just have to see what Kevin Feige and company have up their sleeve for the future.

Kit Harington’s comments about his Marvel future might be disappointing to fans who were hoping to see him and Ali’s vampiric superhero team up during the runtime of Blade. But it might make more sense for the character to get an origin story and his own movie before having crossover events with other members of the shared universe. Although this does raise even more questions about what’s coming next for Dane Whitman.

Eternals had a ton of hype around it ahead of its release, thanks to the stellar cast of actors and Zhao’s use of stunning practical locations. Unfortunately, Eternals was a box office disappointment, and the MCU audience had trouble connecting with the new team of heroes. There’s been no news from the studio or director about a possible sequel, despite the cliffhanger ending. But moviegoers have been eager to learn any information, especially related to the frozen corpse of Tiamut that nearly destroyed Earth.

Even though it’s been off the air for several years now, I doubt that any Game of Thrones fans will forget that the fantasy was filled to the brim with people who did things which were questionable at best and frequently horrible at worst. This also applied to aspects of the characters’ lives, like romantic relationships, and one of the most troubling of these was when Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow fell for one another and did the deed, unaware that they were actually related. While that was a difficult scene for fans, Emilia Clark recently revealed how her sex scene with Kit Harington was almost a very awkward one on set.

What Did Emilia Clarke Reveal About Her Game Of Thrones Sex Scene With Kit Harington?

The famed HBO series (which everyone can revisit with a Max subscription) was known for being a bloody-minded drama with loads of sexytimes, including what we saw between Dany and Jon. While we’ve heard that filming sex scenes for GOT could be a “frenzied mess” before, it seems that things were pretty calm as Clarke and Harington prepared to film their characters’ incestuous hookup, with the exception of Clarke’s real brother. As she told the crowd assembled for her panel with Harington at Superhero Comic Con and Car Show (via @smoakclarke on Twitter) recently:

Well, this is certainly an unforeseen problem when it comes to working with family that I doubt most would encounter. This just isn’t happening if you go to work for your aunt’s accounting firm, OK? We don’t know how long Clarke’s sibling had been working in the GOT camera department or how he didn’t know beforehand what was being filmed when he stepped on set that day, but I do imagine he was treated to a very unwelcome surprise when he found out he might have to be in the room as his sister simulated some very steamy sex acts.

Actually, now that I consider it, I cannot think of a more embarrassing professional situation for either of the Clarke siblings, can you? Clarke’s stance on filming nudity and sex scenes has several different aspects to it, but she did reveal that filming the Dany/Jon scene was “unnatural and strange” and led to a lot of laughter because of them being good friends by then. Just think of having the general weirdness of a sex scene added to the oddness of doing it with one of your buddies, and then putting “oh, yeah, my brother’s watching” on top of that. It sounds like a perfect recipe for a lot of messed up takes, if you ask me.

We don’t know if her brother managed to get out in time, but everyone involved is a true professional, so there definitely wasn’t even a hint of weirdness in the final scene. I mean…except for the, “Ewwww! That’s his aunt!” of it all, anyway.

Game of Thrones may be over, but the world of Westeros lives on, as the fantasy series prequel House of the Dragon smashed records and soared to great success last summer. Naturally, as the HOTD cast rose to fame, and people were immersed into the GOT world once again, the audience started to wonder what the Game of Thrones cast thought about the hit prequel. Understandably, the original cast members who have been asked about House of the Dragon have had a hard time getting into the series. However, each of them has also been enthusiastic about the GOT legacy living on, and are thrilled about the success of its prequel. 

Here’s what some of the OG Game of Thrones cast have to say about House of the Dragon, and if they’ve watched the new GOT series. 

Emilia Clarke – Daenerys Targaryen

It felt inevitable that Emilia Clarke would get asked about House of the Dragon, considering her character’s familial connection to the characters in the prequel. The actress played Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, and this new series is about the Mother of Dragons' ancestors. Sadly, she hasn’t tuned in to learn about her fantasy family’s history yet. 

When asked if she had seen the new HBO series, Emilia Clarke was quick to say she can’t watch House of the Dragon. While I’m a bit bummed she hasn’t tuned in, I totally understand her reasoning, as she said:

She continued to explain why she won't watch House of the Dragon, saying:

While I’m bummed she’s avoiding the show, I get why she hasn’t watched yet. I think the comparison to a high school reunion for a class you weren’t in makes a lot of sense. However, I hope she’s able to watch the Targaryen story eventually. 

Kit Harington – Jon Snow

Emilia Clarke might not be able to watch the show, but Kit Harington hasn’t totally dismissed the idea of streaming the Game of Thrones prequel. The Jon Snow actor admitted that he’s tried to watch House of the Dragon, but can’t watch it all at once, explaining: 

I understand why it’d be difficult to watch House of the Dragon. Seeing King’s Landing and the Iron Throne as well as the costumes that resemble GOT wardrobe would likely cause some wild deja vu. I’d assume that since these actors lived with these characters and this world for so long, and worked on sets like the HOTD locations seeing them back on screen, but not physically being there would be odd. 

While Harington finds the show “hard” to watch at the moment, he still loves it and the fantasy world. That appreciation for the series was clear here, and in a broader sense, considering the actor is set to reprise his role as Jon Snow in a spin-off about his legendary GOT character, it makes sense that he still loves the GOT universe. 

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau – Jaime Lannister

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has also weighed in on the conversation and admitted that he hasn’t watched House of the Dragon just yet. While chatting with EW, the actor behind Jaime Lannister explained that while he hasn’t seen the show, he has seen the eerily similar opening credits. The actor said:

I was also thrown off watching the pilot for House of the Dragon and hearing the Game of Thrones theme song playing. It really throws you back into the world of Westeros with no warning, and I’d assume that when you were in the cast of GOT hearing that song would evoke some strong memories. 

However, even though Coster-Waldau said he can’t bring himself to watch the show at the moment, he did admit he’d like to watch it eventually, saying:

Like Clarke and Harington, Coster-Waldau is also happy about the show’s success, and appreciates that the world of Westeros lives on. Hopefully, he’s able to find it in himself to tune in eventually because it’s a great series. 

The overall consensus seems to be that the Game of Thrones cast is thrilled about post-GOT projects, however, it’s difficult to tune in and be taken back into a world they are so familiar with. Hopefully, the OG cast will be able to watch House of the Dragon eventually, because it’s a great show, and I think all us Game of Thrones fans would love to hear what the cast thinks of the prequel series.

One of the most intriguing reveals about the Game of Thrones franchise since the show ended in 2019 came back in June when news broke that a sequel series was in development to bring back Kit Harington as Jon Snow. While there are still more questions than answers about HBO potentially picking up where Game of Thrones left off with at least one character, the actor is officially returning to the network for another acclaimed project. And no, it’s not House of the Dragon!

Kit Harington has joined the cast of Industry for the upcoming third season, according to Deadline. The show is a drama produced with both HBO and the BBC, with Harington in a recurring role as the CEO of a green tech energy company. Named Harry Muck, the character’s company is at the center of a story that will extend into finance, media, and government for the bankers at Pierpoint & Co.’s office in London. 

All in all, it sounds like Harington’s new Industry character couldn’t be much more different from Jon Snow, and this isn’t the first time that the Emmy-nominee has taken on a role that is a serious departure from the Game of Thrones character who made him famous. Since the end of Thrones, he appeared in Eternals and Baby Ruby on the film front. For television, he appeared in Criminal: UK and Modern Love, and signed on as part of the cast of Apple TV+’s Extrapolations. Industry could show yet another side of Kit Harington.

But what about the side that Game of Thrones fans know and love? On the list of potential upcoming Game of Thrones shows, the developing Jon Snow project –tentatively titled Snow – is the only one that would be a sequel set after the events of the divisive Season 8 finale, while the rest are possible prequels. Unfortunately, Kit Harington was still pretty tight-lipped about the project as recently as mid-March, when he told Extra: 

George R.R. Martin – a.k.a. the author of the five A Song of Ice and Fire books (so far) that inspired Game of Thrones – did share some details shortly after the news of the potential Jon Snow spinoff broke, including that Snow was the working title and that it was in development for quite some time without ever leaking. He credited Kit Harington with the idea for Snow, and with finding the writers and showrunners to make it happen if HBO gives the series order. 

For now, fans of the actor can look forward to his return to HBO for Industry, with production reportedly beginning this month in the United Kingdom. The third season will run for eight episodes; with Kit Harington listed as recurring, it’s possible that he won’t appear in all of those episodes, but only time will tell. He’s also expecting his second child with wife and former Game of Thrones co-star Rose Leslie, so he may be quite busy even without taking on more new shows in the not-too-distant future!

When it comes to Apple TV+, they’ve been coming out with hit after hit, whether it be the famous Ted Lasso, or the award-winning Severance, there’s plenty on the streaming service to love. And now, they’re back with the latest ensemble series, Extrapolations. 

The TV show is an anthology drama series that shows the effects of climate change across the world, from different characters that are somehow all connected. In any show like this, there are many stars that you have probably seen somewhere before. Here is where you might have spotted the Extrapolations cast. 

Kit Harington (Nicholas Bilton)

First up on the list is Kit Harington, who plays Nicholas Bilton in Extrapolations. Harington is primarily known for his role as Jon Snow in the Game of Thrones cast, but he’s also had roles in shows such as Gunpowder, and was in movies like Pompeii as well as Eternals. 

Daveed Diggs (Rabbi Marshall Zucker)

Daveed Diggs portrays Rabbi Marshall Zucker in Extrapolations, and the actor has been on a grind recently with his shows and movies. While Diggs is primarily known for his role in the Hamilton cast, he’s the star of Snowpiercer, and was also in big movies such as Soul and Blindspotting. 

Sienna Miller (Rebecca) 

Next up is Sienna Miller, who plays Rebecca. Miller has been in films such as The Lost City of Z, Foxcatcher, American Woman, and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. She was also in the TV film, The Girl. 

Meryl Streep (Eve)

Portraying Eve in Extrapolations is Meryl Streep, a name that I’m sure we are all very familiar with. Streep has been in so many movies that it’s hard to even keep track sometimes. I’m sure that somehow, someway, you have heard of her, so let’s go over some of her best roles and where you’ve seen her before.  

Streep got started back in the 1970s on the stage, but later on moved into movies and TV with films such as Julia, Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie’s Choice, Out of Africa, Death Becomes Her, The Bridges of Madison Country, The Post, Little Women, The Devil Wears Prada, Into the Woods, The Hours, and more. If you want to hear something crazy, she holds the record for the most nominations by an actress for the Academy Awards – 21. 

Besides movies, Streep has done a lot in television, as well. She had a lead role in the miniseries, Holocaust, as well as a starring part in the second season of Big Little Lies. She was also a part of the miniseries, Angels in America, which won her a Primetime Emmy award. 

Michael Gandolfini (Rowan)

The son of James Gandolfini, Michael Gandolfini portrays Rowan in the series. He’s been in films such as Ocean’s 8, and portrayed the younger version of Tony Soprano in The Many Saints of Newark on HBO Max. He is also going to be in Beau is Afraid, coming out later in 2023.

Heather Graham (Hannah)

Moving on, we take a look at Heather Graham, who plays Hannah. She’s been in many films that you might recognize her from, such as Six Degrees of Separation, Boogie Nights, Bowfinger, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Horns and more. She also had a supporting role in Twin Peaks, and was in the shows Scrubs and Californication. 

Tahar Rahim (Omar) 

Tahar Rahim portrays Omar in Extrapolations, and this actor has already been all over in movies and television. Rahim is mainly known for his role as Judas in the film Mary Magdalene, as well as his big part in The Looming Tower, but he’s also been in movies such as The French Prophet, and the miniseries, The Serpent.

Matthew Rhys (Junior) 

Moving on, we take a look at Matthew Rhys, who plays Junior. Rhys is primarily known for his starring role in the famed drama, The Americans, but he’s also been in films such as The Edge of Love, The Post, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and more. He’s also the titular character in Perry Mason, and has done voice work in the underrated animated show, The Owl House. 

David Schwimmer (Harris Goldblatt) 

Harris Goldblatt is played by David Schwimmer, and I’m pretty sure most of us are aware of Schwimmer from his time as part of the Friends cast. However, he has plenty of movie work under his belt, including the Madagascar series, Nothing But the Truth, The Pallbearer and more. He was also a part of Band of Brothers, and was one of the stars of The People vs. O.J. Simpson. 

Diane Lane (Martha)

Next up is Diane Lane, who plays Martha and has been in many, many movies. Some of her biggest hits have been Man of Steel, The Cotton Club, Streets of Fire, The Lady Beware, and Hollywoodland. 

Edward Norton (Jonathan) 

Edward Norton plays Jonathan, and he has been around in the film industry for some time. Recently, he was a part of the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery cast, and was also the lead in The Incredible Hulk, but has starred in many other movies, like Fight Club, Bourne Legacy, and The Grand Budapest Hotel, among others. 

Mia Maestro (Mariama)

Moving on, we have Mia Maestro, who plays Mariama in Extrapolations. Maestro is primarily known for her role in shows such as The Strain and Alias, as well as her parts in The Twilight Saga, and her role in Frida.

Indira Varma (Gita) 

Indira Varma plays Gita and was also a part of the Game of Thrones cast, but has been in other television roles such as on Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Amazon original, Carnival Row, Luther, Human Target and more. She was also in movies like Silent Hours and the Disney+ original movie, The One and Only Ivan. 

Adarsh Gourav (Guarav)

Next up on the list is Adarsh Gourav, who plays Guarav in Extrapolations. The actor is primarily known for his work in Bollywood, as he’s appeared in many Hindi films, but he was also in the American film, The White Tiger in 2020. He was also a part of the online web series, Hostel Daze. 

Keri Russell (Olivia Drew)

Another big name here is Keri Russell, who plays Olivia Drew. Russell is also known from her starring role in The Americans (alongside her real-life partner, Matthew Rhys), as well as her breakout starring role on the college show, Felicity, but has since appeared in many other shows and movies. Most recently, she starred in Cocaine Bear, but has also appeared in films such as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, We Were Soldiers, and more. 

Gemma Chan (Natasha)

Moving on, we take a look at Gemma Chan, who plays Natasha. Chan was also a part of the Eternals cast, but has appeared in many other movies, such as Don’t Worry Darling, Crazy Rich Asians, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and more. She was also a part of the Humans television series. 

Marion Cotillard (Sylvie)

Marion Cotillard is a French actress who plays Sylvie on Extrapolations. Cotillard is primarily known for her Academy Award-winning role in La Vie en Rose, but has been in many other movies such as Taxi, Inception, The Immigrant, Midnight in Paris, The Dark Knight Rises and others. 

Eiza Gonzalez (Elodie)

Next up on the list is Eiza Gonzalez, who plays Elodie in Extrapolations. The young actress was primarily known for her role in Spanish telenovelas for many years, but has since started to break into Hollywood with many roles in movies such as Baby Driver, I Care A Lot, Godzilla vs. Kong, and 2022’s Ambulance. 

Tobey Maguire (Nicolas) 

You’d really have to be living under a rock to not know who Tobey Maguire is, and thankfully, he’s back in action in Extrapolations, where he plays Nicolas. Maguire is primarily known for his years as Spider-Man, where he played Peter Parker for three films and reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but he’s done plenty in the acting industry besides that. 

His biggest roles besides Spider-Man include those in The Great Gatsby, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Pleasantville, The Cider House Rules, Brothers, and many more. He was also recently in 2022’s Babylon, which was nominated for an Academy Award. 

Forest Whitaker (Augustin)

Last but not least, we take a look at Forest Whitaker, who has been in the industry for some time and appeared in many, many big-time movies. He plays Augustin in Extrapolations. Some of Whitaker’s biggest roles thus far have included parts in movies like Platoon, The Great Debaters, The Butler, Respect, The Crying Game, Good Morning Vietnam, and The Last King of Scotland. 

Whitaker has also appeared in such big films like Rogue One: A Star Wars Series, and was also in Black Panther. Currently, he stars in the series, Godfather of Harlem. 

Keep in mind that this isn’t even the complete cast, so if you’re at all interested in seeing anyone else that might not be on this list, be sure to check it out at Apple TV+. Either way, Extrapolations is looking to be an intense show – and with an even more intense cast list. It’ll still be fun, that’s for sure.  

Even though Game of Thrones came to an end almost four years ago, the franchise lives on in the form of a wildly successful prequel. House of the Dragon is the incredibly popular successor to the HBO fantasy series, however, despite its popularity, it’s not so popular among some of the original Game of Thrones cast members. While Emilia Clarke refuses to watch the GoT prequel, her co-star Kit Harington has the opposite take, however, he's proceeding into the prequel with caution.

Kit Harington portrayed the fan-favorite Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, and he is potentially set to star in his own Jon Snow spinoff. So it wasn't surprising to find out that he has watched some of House of the Dragon, even praising the series when speaking to Extra. He did admit, though, that it was hard for him to watch, which is understandable given how long he spent on the flagship series:

It sounds like Harington is a fan of House of the Dragon, and he pacing himself while watching. Since the series is a prequel, it does make things a little weird since there’s this whole new set of characters and storylines, that are directly related to the characters of Game of Thrones. While the consensus seems to be that it’s just too painful or weird to watch after being on its parent series for close to a decade, it’s clear that Harington is slowly trying to work his way through and give his support.

Taking place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon premiered in August 2022, and it focused on the Targaryen family. As the cast of House of the Dragon revels in the show’s success, it’s easy to understand why some GoT stars are finding it hard to watch since they are still connected to the OG series. I'd imagine it's hard seeing other actors tell a story in the same world with similar names, costumes, and accents. Perhaps they can follow Kit Harington’s lead and watch a little bit at a time, pacing themselves through the fantasy prequel.

Meanwhile, House of the Dragon was renewed for a second season not even a week after its premiere. Much like its predecessor, House of the Dragon was wildly successful during Season 1, and that will likely carry over into Season 2. Clearly, the Game of Thrones franchise is not slowing down any time soon, and whether the original cast is able to watch any more of the upcoming series will be something to look out for.

Jon Snow and Ygritte may not have had the happiest of endings on Game of Thrones, but the actors behind them, Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, have the sweetest marriage in real life, and they are now expecting their second child. However, with two kids comes new challenges, and the actor behind the former King in the North is detailing all the ways the couple’s second pregnancy differs from the first. 

At first, Harington said he was a bit “terrified” about baby No. 2, however, now they are getting practical as they prepare, as the actor explained to ET: 

I feel like this is true for most parents, the mentality is totally different with the second child. While there are likely no fantastical, romantic thoughts about the process anymore, you also know exactly what to expect, and there are no questions. Harington seemed to also believe this, and then he explained some great advice his mom gave him: 

While he’s a bit nervous, it seems like Harington and Leslie are more than ready to welcome their second kiddo. The two announced they were having their first child in 2020, and welcomed their little one in 2021. So, they know what it’s like to raise a newborn, and know exactly what to expect. However, I’d assume parenting a newborn and a toddler simultaneously comes with a new set of challenges, but I'm sure they'll do a great job. 

Harington and Leslie seem to be such a solid couple, I mean the Jon Snow actor knew his wife was “the one” at her first costume fitting on Game of Thrones. The two spent a while acting together on the hit fantasy series, and then they got married in 2018. Now, with the Eternals star talking about how practically they’re treating this pregnancy, and how they’re ready to “get down to parenting,” it seems like they’re on the same page, and ready for baby No. 2. 

Along with getting ready to welcome their second child into the world, both actors have projects coming out this year. Leslie was featured in Fabio D’Andrea’s music video “Hope Reborn,” while Harington has Extrapolations and Blood for Dust on the way.

It’s a happy day for the Harington/Leslie household as Kit Harington just announced that he and Rose Leslie are expecting their second child. The two actors met beyond The Wall while filming Game of Thrones in 2011, and have been married since 2018, welcomed their first kiddo in 2021 and now they are about to become a beautiful family of four. 

The exciting news about baby No. 2 was announced in a big way, as Kit Harington shared the news on The Tonight Show. The conversation started out with the men talking about the actor's 2-year-old, then he mentioned that the little one is about to get a big surprise, saying:  

While Harington and Leslie have been down this road before, the actor known for his role as Jon Snow admitted he’s still scared about welcoming a new life into the world. The Game of Thrones alum explained: 

He makes a good point. I’d imagine when you go through a second pregnancy all the naïve fantasy is stripped away, because nothing is left to the imagination, you know how the next nine months will go down. However, it’s also a very exciting time, and while Harington admitted to being a bit nervous, you could also see the excitement on his face. 

I know I’m extremely excited for the happy couple because being on their journey from Jon and Ygritte falling in love on the show, to hearing about the couple’s real-life love story has been so wholesome, hilarious and joyful. From hearing about Harington knowing Leslie was “the one” while filming GOT to all the shenanigans the couple has gotten up to over the years, it’s always fun to hear news from them, and this is some of the best news we could receive, in my opinion. 

Over the years, we’ve heard a lot about what it’s like to live in the Harington/Leslie household. From epic April fools pranks that involve Jon Snow’s severed head to Leslie’s reaction when Harington told her how Game of Thrones ends, they have a great sense of humor, and their stories are the best. Also, they’re couple goals, considering how much fun they seem to have, and how long they’ve been together following their first meeting on the set of the fantasy series. 

While Jon Snow and Ygritte's story came to a tragic end years ago, it’s so nice to hear about Harington and Leslies’ growing love story and family.

Dragons, betrayal, and a little bit of magic - these are the ingredients for the recipe to a show in the A Song of Ice and Fire universe. Game of Thrones was one of the biggest shows on HBO and possibly the biggest of all time. The stellar Game of Thrones cast turned in incredible performances, combined with a story that was incomparable... until you get to Season 8, but that’s beside the point. 

Either way, the universe of A Song of Ice and Fire is expanding. It started with House of the Dragon, and now, more and more projects are coming up for fans of the lore to get excited about. Author George R.R. Martin confirmed in early 2023 that several of the GoT successor shows are developing despite the HBO Max changes, with some "moving faster than others" but none greenlit. He doesn't consider any of those potential spinoffs to be "dead," however, so read on for what you should about what's in the works!

House Of The Dragon Season 2 

The fact that House of the Dragon got a Season 2 in the first place isn’t that big of a surprise. Its premiere was one of the biggest in the network’s history and it only continued to grow in popularity as more episodes released weekly, through cast changes and everything else. Season 2 of House of the Dragon was all but guaranteed from day one. 

Now that Season 1 had ended, the wait has begun for Season 2, and HBO boss Casey Bloys has indicated that fans are in for a long hiatus. Speaking with Vulture, Bloys said not to "expect it in ’23," but he thinks "sometime in ’24." That's not altogether shocking, considering all of the postproduction that is undoubtedly required for a show with as many special effects as House of the Dragon, but still disappointing in the wake of how Season 1 ended. At least those effects prevent the show's dragons from resembling the ones George R.R. Martin hates in other shows!

As for when it could premiere in 2024, Casey Bloys also told Vulture that the August premiere date for Season 1 was chosen because it was "the soonest we believed we could get it on the air" and they "just wanted to get it on the platform as soon as possible, since there was no real reason to hold it." While that doesn't give any clues for a date for Season 2, it does suggest that HBO won't needlessly delay debuting the new episodes and instead premiere them as soon as possible once they're ready. The network announced that production had begun on Season 2 on April 11, with a list of returning cast members.

There's more that we already know about Season 2, including that the original co-showrunner, Miguel Sapochnik, left the show after the first season, leaving Ryan Condal (also the co-creator of the series) as the sole showrunner. Rumors abounded about whether Sapochnik left for personal reasons, but whatever the case, the show is moving forward without him. 

Plus, reports (via Deadline) indicate that the second season will run for just eight episodes, as opposed to the ten of Season 1. This is said to be due to story rather than budget reasons as the House of the Dragon team plans ahead for the full adaptation of the relevant section of George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood. On the one hand, it could mean HOTD avoiding the same pitfalls that made the final season of Game of Thrones so divisive; on the other hand, it may mean continued complications with the show's pace. 

If the second season is as exciting as the first, I can only imagine what’s going to happen next as we watch the Dance of Dragons occur. It’s about to get even crazier, my friends, especially if certain moments from Fire & Blood make it into the second season. The show made the Greens look better than the book; Season 2 could change that. The first season garnered some awards attention for the cast, including a surprise Golden Globe win for Best Television Drama Series. Emma D'Arcy was nominated at the Globes for Best Actress, and found it "beautifully ironic."

Filming is currently taking place for Season 2 as of June 2023, so it won't be long before we see the Targaryen's again.

Sequel Series Centered On Jon Snow

When Game of Thrones came to an end, the idea of there ever being a sequel was like something from my wildest dreams. I felt as if the cast had moved on and were accomplishing many new things – several even ended up joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, like Kit Harington in the Eternals cast. 

But it seems that world never truly dies, as it was reported in June 2022 that a sequel series, centered on Jon Snow, is in development at HBO, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Obviously, Harington is attached to reprise his role if the series moves forward, and this series was actually originally his idea, which he ran by A Song of Ice and Fire's creator, George R.R. Martin. Speaking at the Game of Thrones convention, Harington opened up about the trauma that Jon was left with at the end of the original series, and that should be addressed in the sequel. 

While I should be surprised, I’m not entirely. The show was incredibly popular and broke records worldwide, and the idea of a Jon Snow-centered show might open doors for previous characters to return, like Arya, Sansa, or anyone else. Based on comments from one actor, there's at least one surviving character whose involvement can probably be ruled out! All I know is that if Snow is still North of the Wall, I demand to see Tormund again, please and thank you.  

Prequel Series - Dunk & Egg 

House of the Dragon is currently the only prequel airing, but Dunk & Egg (a title that readers of George R.R. Martin's works will recognize) is one of the multiple spinoffs in development. 

If you’ve never heard of Dunk & Egg, or, better known as The Tales of Dunk & Egg, it's a series of novellas by George R.R. Martin that detail the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, known as Dunk, and the future King Aegon V, known as Egg, and their adventures that take place almost one hundred years before the events of GOT.

Deadline confirmed that Steve Conrad was signed on as a writer for the prequel, and that the idea has been in the works for some time at HBO. So far, Martin has only written three of these novellas, but as Deadline reported, he has teased there are more entries, so who knows what might happen. And in April 2023, it was officially ordered by HBO, according to Variety, so it's a-go.

Prequel Series - Nine Voyages/Sea Snake

Another prequel series that is in the works, according to Deadline, is 9 Voyages, which is also being called Sea Snake. If that name sounds familiar to House of the Dragon fans, that’s because the Sea Snake is also known as Corlys Velaryon. 

As revealed in HOTD, the Velaryons were never known as dragon riders like the Targaryens before the fall of Valyria, but they were renowned for their brilliant nautical skills. This series would detail the famous nine voyages that Corlys took around the worlds of Westeros, Essos, and beyond. 

It would give fans who have never read the books a look into life outside of Westeros, including places like Yi-Ti, Leng, and more. 

Prequel Series - 10,000 Ships

Another prequel in development, according to the aforementioned Deadline article, is a show called 10,000 Ships. In The World of Ice and Fire, this story follows the warrior queen, Princess Nymeria, who was one of the remaining survivors of the Rhoynars and took her people across the world, where she would land in modern-day Dorne, and is an ancestor of Oberyn Martell (played by Pedro Pascal).

If the name Nymeria sounds familiar, it's because Arya Stark named her direwolf after the famed princess. If Arya names something after someone, you know that they were worthy of praise. 

Prequel Series - Aegon's Conquest

Another prequel spinoff is reportedly in the works that would go even further back in time with the Targaryens than House of the Dragon, with a project about Aegon's Conquest that resulted in the formation of the Seven Kingdoms. Although it hasn't been officially ordered, Variety reports that it's in the early stages of development with the possibility of starting as a feature film before being expanded with a TV show. 

That would be a first for the larger Game of Thrones franchise, but no representative for HBO has yet commented at the time of writing. 

Animated Prequel Series - The Golden Empire

Okay, there have been several announcements about possible animated shows in development at HBO, but this has been steadily talked about, and it's one that I really think many A Song of Ice and Fire fans would enjoy. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s been confirmed that an animated series about the world of Yi-Ti – otherwise known as The Golden Empire – was being worked on. The fabled land is based off of Imperial China and is known to be a land full of riches and more. As mentioned before, Corlys Velaryon sailed there on his nine voyages. 

There were also two other animated projects that were supposedly being worked on, but for now, the only project we really know anything about focuses on Yi-Ti, and to be honest, what a story to bring to the screen. I have a feeling that it will be amazing if it scores the series order. 

George R.R. Martin even commented on the potential show on his blog in March 2022, saying that he thinks the art and animation is going to be “beautiful.” He wrote:

Also announced originally with Sea Snake and 10,000 Ships was a prequel about Flea Bottom, the district that surrounds King’s Landing which was featured in GOT. In The Hollywood Reporter article above, HBO confirmed that was no longer in development. 

Something else that was also announced – but isn’t going to be a movie or TV series – is a stage play, according to THR. The play will be yet another prequel to the events of GOT, and will bring back fan-favorite characters such as Ned Stark and Jamie Lannister. 

The world of ice and fire is expanding to lengths we never could have guessed – and I am here for the ride. Bring on the dragons, betrayals, and new fantasy worlds! The real question is: are all of these spinoffs going to be done before George R.R. Martin finishes The Winds of Winter? More dragons may be on screen before Winds is on bookshelves, but the world of Westeros and beyond isn't going anywhere if HBO continues moving forward on these projects. 

While House of the Dragon broke HBO viewership records, and many were enamored by the Game of Thrones prequel, the Mother of Dragons herself hasn’t been able to watch the series about her Targaryen ancestors. And instead of just saying she hadn’t watched it, or didn’t want to watch it, Emilia Clarke had a hilarious A+ answer as to why she hasn’t tuned into the mega-hit GoT prequel. 

In an interview with Variety Clarke was asked if she had watched HOTD yet. The actress thought about her answer for a second, nervously fidgeted and then hilariously said:

When I’ve talked with folks who thought House of the Dragon was too much, or “too weird,” typically it’s because they don’t like how violent and incestuous it is. I mean even the show's cast has admitted to how intense it is. For example, Milly Alcock talked about shooting an intense brothel scene where extras were “69ing for 12 hours,” and Matt Smith also said that making the show can be a lot sometimes. So, that would make sense if that was why Clarke didn’t want to watch the series. 

However, that was not why she avoided the show. The actress revealed that her reason for not watching is quite personal, and deeply tied to Game of Thrones. Clarke said:

You know, I get it. If I were Clarke I’d think it would be weird to watch a show that’s so intensely connected to her character. I mean the Targaryen family tree is messy to say the least, and watching actors play out the stories of Daenerys' ancestors after she's been removed from Westeros for so long would be odd. I also think her comparison to going to a high school reunion that’s not your own makes total sense, and while I would love to hear her thoughts about HOTD, I respect her decision to not watch the series. 

While Clarke can’t bear to watch House of the Dragon, her Game of Thrones co-star Kit Harington loved it, the actor told ET Canada:

Clearly, it’s a case-by-case basis when it comes to how members of the Game of Thrones cast feel about the greater GOT universe. While Clarke is avoiding it, Harington is not only loving HOTD, but he’s in the process of coming back to Westeros as Jon Snow in a new sequel series. 

In conclusion, while Clarke is not totally sold on HOTD, you can watch the hit Game of Thrones prequel and its predecessor with an HBO Max subscription. Also, if you want to see what the actress behind Daenerys Targaryen is up to now, she’s set to star in Marvel’s Secret Invasion, which is on the 2023 TV schedule.

Lucky for Kit Harington, his real-life romance with Rose Leslie is a much happier story than his character Jon Snow’s relationship with Yigritte (played by Leslie) on Game of Thrones. The two met on the set of GOT’s second season, and according to Harington, he knew she was “the one” not long after they met. 

During a Game of Thrones convention, Harington took the stage to talk all things Jon Snow. One fan asked him about his on-screen chemistry with his real-life wife Rose Leslie, who played Ygritte on the show. The actor then recalled the first time he met his eventual wife while making GOT (via Insider), saying: 

How adorable is that!? To me, this sounds like it was love at first sight for Harington, and now the couple has been together for years. According to the article, the audience gave a nice “aww” after hearing this sweet story. Harington smiled recalling the moment, and said: 

I’m sorry, I can’t, this is too cute, especially considering just how incredible their romance was on screen. On the show, Ygritte was Jon Snow’s first love, and arguably only love, considering the one other romantic relationship he had ended brutally, and it was quite messy considering the complexity of the Targaryen family tree. This relationship with the woman beyond The Wall was one of the happier points of Jon Snow’s story, and to hear about the admiration and love Harington has for that arc is lovely. 

The actor also discussed working with Leslie during the early seasons of Thrones, and the differences between her and Ygritte, as well as the actress’ ability to turn on the sass. Harington said: 

The two have such a fun relationship on screen, and I’d assume it’s similar off-screen too, considering some of the stories we’ve heard about them. For example, Harington pranked Leslie with his fake severed head from Game of Thrones days before they got engaged. The actor also revealed he told his wife how GOT ended, and she wouldn’t speak to him for days. 

Following the prank and their engagement, the two got married in 2018. Leslie and Harington then welcomed their child to the world in 2020. 

Professionally, both actors have been staying busy. This year Leslie starred in The Time Traveler’s Wife series as well as the film Death on the Nile. As for Harington, he joined the MCU in Eternals last year, and he is currently in development on a show about Jon Snow.

As the world was awaiting the start of the highly anticipated Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon, fans were granted a huge surprise in mid-June 2022, when word got out that HBO was actually working on yet another new branch of its far-reaching fantasy world. But, instead of this one being set way in the past or well away from the Seven Kingdoms, we found out that preparations were being made to bring Kit Harington back as Jon Snow, the role that made him famous. While there will likely be a long time before we know exactly what that potential series is about, Harington has now spoken about how Jon’s doing after GOT’s much debated finale, and it's pretty intense.

What Did Game Of Thrones’ Kit Harington Say About How Jon Snow Is Doing After The Finale?

Even after all that poor Jon went through over the course of eight seasons (including totally being murdered and brought back to life), it’s still hard to believe that the character managed to make it out of the war and wight-filled game alive. As viewers probably recall, though, he was not exactly A-OK at the end of the drama, and while talking to fans at the Game of Thrones Convention over the weekend (via Entertainment Weekly) he revealed how he thinks his character is doing post-rebanishment to the Wall, saying:

Yeah, I think we can all remember some of the many reasons why Jon was both about to be beheaded and done with everything he’d been through to the point that he was pretty on board with his fate. After being revived, he eventually joined the effort to land Daenerys on the Iron Throne, fell in love with her, realized Dany was actually his aunt way too late, also realized way too late that he was maybe not on the side he wanted to be on, and killed Dany before she could murder any more innocents.

Martin revealed is being prepped as Snow for a working title) is to see how Jon continues to live while working through all of his “trauma,” they will certainly not lack for storylines. Seeing as how his life was spared, he will have to spend however many years he now has left thinking about what he’s gone through, the decisions he made, and reconciling everything. The Ebony Blade-baring Eternals star wrapped up, adding:

Well, if there’s one thing we all know, it’s that simply being alive with all your parts in working order doesn’t automatically mean that you’re OK, and if we do get to watch Harington return as Jon Snow, we’ll likely get to see him figure out how to get to OK in the new world he helped to create. He better hope he never crosses paths with Grey Worm again.
