I watch so many movies that only a select few get me misty-eyed, but one of the 2026 movie releases that really gets me there is Reminders Of Him. The film -- based on a novel by Colleen Hoover -- had me emotional over the journey Maika Monroe’s Kenna goes on after re-entering the real world in the aftermath of a six-year prison stint. Adding to the drama is the fact that Maika has never even met her own daughter due to her jail time. It’s a dramatic premise, but when I talked to the cast, I learned that Taylor Swift's music added some sweet vibes behind the scenes.

If you’ve seen Reminders Of Him already, I don’t have to tell you how adorable the child actor in the movie is. And, according to lead actress Maika Monroe, Zoe Kosovic really livened things up for everyone, too. In her words:

While I’d expect such a book-to-screen adaptation to have a more somber set, that wasn’t the case. thanks to the actress who played Kenna’s daughter, Diem. As a big Swiftie, she got the cast dancing around to her music, which sounds like a great on-set ritual. She also got especially close to the actor who played Ledger, Tyriq Withers. Monroe said the pair were “besties,"and Withers added this during our interview with them:

Given the child actor is just six years old, it’s certainly understandable she might get the actors’ names and characters mixed up, but hearing about it just makes you want to go “awww!” Check out the two actors -- who play out Reminders Of Him's main romance -- gush about Kosovic in the video below:

It sounds like the young actor really brightened up everyone’s day when she was on set in an otherwise serious film. Lauren Graham, who plays Grace, Diem’s grandma, also says this:

In Reminders Of Him, Kenna returns to her hometown, after pleading guilty for vehicular manslaughter in the wake of her boyfriend, Scotty, dying in a car accident. While Scotty's parents and Diem's grandparents won’t let Kenna meet her daughter, Scotty’s best friend, Ledger, starts to get to know Kenna and realizes she might not be the criminal she's been painted as.

Reminders of Him may have left critics calling it “predictable,” it was a crowd-pleaser when it came out earlier this year. And, if you’ve seen the film, you know how emotional the ending gets. I love the cast's behind-the-scenes stories about the making of this Hoover adaptation and, now, I’m eager to start a Taylor Swift dance party of my own.

Gilmore Girls is a wildly popular show, one that's regularly re-watched by fans (especially those with a Netflix subscription). The original series, as well as the revival A Year in the Life are some of the best shows to binge-watch on Netflix, although the fandom's passion can sometimes result in some discourse online. And while some fans have a coffee-related complaint about Lorelai Gilmore, actress Lauren Graham isn't having it.

Gilmore Girls returned for a new limited series with 2016's A Year in the Life. Upon its release, some fans took umbrage with how Graham's Lorelai was holding her coffee from Luke's Diner in the opening scene. In a clip on Instagram from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she responded to folks who thought that her cup was empty, saying:

Now that's some method acting. Both Lorelai and Rory are coffee addicts in Gilmore Girls, just one example of how they have stomachs of steel. And if folks though that Lauren Graham was carrying around an empty coffee cup on A Year in the Life they were wrong.

In the opening sequence Lorelai and Rory reunite at the Star's Hallow town square, and eventually go running around when Alexis Bledel's character frantically tried to find cell reception. That's when Graham was shown holding a coffee by the bottom of the cup. Later in her same conversation the actress went on to say:

There you have it. Lorelai herself isn't here for the discourse surrounding her coffee cup, especially because it very much had liquid in it. We'll just have to see if she ever gets the chance to play her signature character again on the small screen.

Of course, this isn't the only moment from Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life that got some backlash upon the revival show's release. The final scene was polarizing, where Rory revealed to her mother that she was pregnant. Fans are still debating who the father of Rory's child might be, with my personal choice being Milo Ventimiglia's Jess. But we'll have to see if Amy Sherman-Palladino ever actually confirms who it is one way or another. Although the mystery does feel very Mamm Mia! coded if we end up waiting for another revival series to find out.

Both Gilmore Girls and A Year in the Life is streaming over on Netflix. As for Lauren Graham, she can be seen in Reminders of Him, which is in theaters now as part of the 2026 movie release list.

Reminders Of Him is the latest of book-to-screen adaptations from Colleen Hoover to hit the big screen, but you don’t have to have read the book to know what character dies early on. If you’ve seen any of the marketing of the latest of 2026 movie releases, you know Rudy Pankow’s character Scotty kicks the bucket early in the film, and his death looms over the whole movie. So what is it like to be that actor in a movie?

When CinemaBlend spoke to Pankow about his small role in the new movie, he told us his perspective. In his words:

While Rudy Pankow didn’t get to be on set for a big chunk of the filming of Reminders Of Him, he brings some interesting thoughts to the whole thing. As he explained, it was “fun” for him to see what else came out of the movie knowing he’d be surprised about what he wasn’t part of. Additionally, he’s grateful he got to explore the “joy” of his character, whereas the rest of the cast had to deal with the more heavier aspects of things once his character dies. As he continued:

Oh, and Rudy Pankow got to work alongside some pretty good actors who play his parents – Gilmore Girls’ Lauren Graham and The West Wing’s Bradley Whitford. In Reminders Of Him, the story revolves around Kenna (played by Maika Monroe), a woman who has just left prison and returned to her hometown in hopes of meeting her daughter for the first time, who are currently in the custody of Scotty’s parents. We slowly get to learn about her previous relationship with Scotty prior to his death and the relationship Kenna forms with Scotty’s best friend Ledger (Tyriq Withers), who has become close to her daughter over the years.

In one scene, which showcases what would be Kenna and Scotty’s last day together, he hilariously said he sunburned his butt in an accident in preparation for a moment where the couple skinny dip together. Pankow is most famously from Outer Banks, which is set to conclude on the 2026 Netflix schedule either in the summer or fall. On that show, his character also died, but that was after four seasons on the show and a famously shipped relationship between his character of JJ and Madison Bailey’s Kiara.

Colleen Hoover is having a moment, and while the author may feel like the ongoing It Ends with Us legal issues have overshadowed the film, she’s still got plenty of opportunity to make an impact with her book-to-screen adaptations. Reminders of Him is the next one up — set to hit the 2026 movie calendar on March 13, starring Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers — and critics are weighing in on the romantic drama.

The story, which is one of two Colleen Hoover adaptations hitting the big screen this year, follows Kenna Rowan (Monroe), who returns to her hometown hoping to meet the daughter she had while serving prison time for the drunk driving accident that killed her boyfriend Scotty. Kenna bonds with Scotty’s best friend, Ledger Ward (Withers), as everyone else remains hostile to her. In CinemaBlend’s review of Reminders of Him, Sarah El-Mahmoud calls it “the best Colleen Hoover movie” so far. She rates it 3.5 stars out of 5, writing:

Both lead actors have made a name for themselves in the horror genre, so the casting gives this adaptation an unexpected twist, and according to Mark Kenedy of the AP, they nail the assignment. Maika Monroe is both flirty and maternal in a “tricky” role, while Tyriq Withers plays Ledger with “real soul,” Monroe says. The critic gives the movie 3 stars out of 4, writing:

Kate Erbland of IndieWire gives it a B-, saying “finally,” we have a Colleen Hoover adaptation with actual heart. The tortured romance is still there, of course, but this cast has also tapped into genuine emotion. Erbland continues:

Damon Wise of Deadline, however, finds Reminders of Him almost, if not equally, as nonsensical as last year’s Regretting You, calling it “ridiculously lovey-dovey hokum” in which logic flies out the window. Wise says of the “dreary tearjerker”:

Derek Smith of Slant agrees with the above assessment, writing that the movie “doesn’t so much tug at the heartstrings as ceaselessly yank on them.” Kenna is not forced to grapple with her mistakes, and Scotty’s parents’ path to forgiving her is supremely underbaked, Smith suggests, as he rates Reminders of Him 1.5 stars out of 4 and writes:

Some critics think Reminders of Him is Colleen Hoover’s best adaptation yet, while others say it’s the same melodrama we’ve gotten from Regretting You and It Ends with Us. That split decision is reflected not just from the opinions above, but on a larger scale, with Rotten Tomatoes scoring it at 64% as of this writing.

Suffice it to say, if you’ve enjoyed seeing the novelist’s stories on the big screen so far, this one is likely another good option for you. Anyone who wants to check Reminders of Him out to form their own conclusions can do so starting Friday, March 13.

In the paperback fiction world, Colleen Hoover has consistently put out big hits in the romance genre. And in the past few years, Hollywood has been trying to replicate that viral success with a series of adaptations of her bestselling works. However, that endeavor quickly went a bit sideways with the controversial media frenzy surrounding It Ends With Us, followed by last year’s Regretting You not making much of an impact to overshadow it. However, the latest Hoover adaptation, Reminders Of You, shows that sometimes the third time’s a charm.

Based on the 2022 novel of the same name, Reminders Of Him, follows Kenna (Maika Monroe) as she returns to her former home of Paradise, Wyoming after seven years in prison for charges related to the death of her boyfriend Scotty (Rudy Pankow). She has to start from scratch with a barebones studio apartment and knock on doors for literally any job that will take someone with a record. Just as the audience starts to ask why she’d return to a place that seems to be rejecting her, we learn that she’s there in hopes of meeting the young daughter that was taken away from her before she could even lay her eyes on her.

Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers’ chemistry delivers on a level deeper than typical Hollywood romances.

Monroe, who is best known by horror fans for her roles in Longlegs and It Follows, gives a well-rounded and believable performance that’s devoid of the kind of melodrama a movie like this could easily become led by another actress. She gives an introverted performance helped by the letters her character writes and narrates the movie with to her former love in composition notebooks that she carries everywhere with her. Kenna’s quietly captivating presence is noticed by a local bartender Ledger (Tyriq Withers) when she stumbles into his establishment hoping for a late-night cup of coffee.

Withers, who has also made a name for himself recently in scary movies like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Him, also gets to show a different side of his range with his sweet, vulnerable performance as Ledger, who happened to be Scotty’s best friend and like a pseudo father to Kenna’s daughter since his old buddy passed. While the attraction between Kenna and Ledger is immediate, there’s an innocence to it, and it’s something that feels natural to the storyline as they get to know each other. It’s a nice change of pace from a lot of Hollywood romances lately that have felt more like producers smashed together two bankable stars in hopes sparks will fly for the heck and cash of it all.

As the movie goes on, Kenna and Scotty bond over a shared love for the same little girl, and their shared loss of Scotty. In a world where love stories can often be dramatized as being toxic or impossible, there’s a wholesome and serendipity about the story of these two that feels grounded – while also having a smidge of the kind of fantasy-like, passionate love affair one would hope from a big-screen romance. But, perhaps the biggest surprise of the movie is how it’s more of an endearing family drama before being a romance at all. Those movies are certainly few and far between on a major studio’s slate, and it’s nice to experience again.

One thing that sets Reminders Of Him apart from the other Colleen Hoover adaptations is it's the first script the writer worked on herself. She penned the screenplay alongside movie producer Lauren Levine (on top of earning her own typical producer credit).

Another major strength of the movie director Vanessa Caswill, whose last film Love At First Sight, was also a very strong book adaptation of a modern romance novel. Caswill has an affinity for capturing the delicate human moments that can make the genre so good and cry-worthy in a way that quietly boils within you as you watch. She uses everything from the wistful score, breathtaking shots of the setting and some gorgeous framing of shots to make us feel the movie's emotions even more.

The movie is also filled with a lot more funny moments (that work) in between. One highlight is the use of Monika Myers, who made history for being Canada’s first runway model with Down syndrome. The actress brings a sweet round of laughs throughout the film as Kenna’s neighbor and co-worker as Kenna struggles to be granted the ability to see her daughter.

Then, there’s the young actress who plays Kenna’s daughter Diem, Zoe Kosovic, who’s completely adorable, and presence in the film really helps anchor everything else going on. The only shortcoming among the cast perhaps is how Reminders Of Him beautifully casted Lauren Graham and Bradley Whitford as Diem’s grandparents (and Scotty’s parents) but doesn’t really fully know what to do with them or weave them effectively into the storyline. Throughout the movie, there’s a coldness to them that doesn’t match the rest of the story, and one has to wonder if some of their scenes were cut for time.

Reminders Of Him has a meaningful message about parenthood, too.

Now, the third act's explanation of things aren't exactly well-constructed, but as the movie’s buttery premise chugs along, and if you're in on the emotional stakes, it won't bother you too much. The movie ends up having quite a bit to say, from the story of a mother’s bond with her child despite never meeting her to shedding light on what it’s like for someone to start anew after serving time in prison. It feels like a worthy story to tell (albeit a more simplified exploration of the tale).

As Reminders Of Him goes on, there’s a longing from the audience that sets in over our hopes for Kenna and Diem to get to meet each other, and for forgiveness and healing to happen within the family. As you watch, there’s a warmth that bubbles up around each of the characters despite each of the chips on their shoulders that life has handed them. All in all, what we get from Reminders of Him is a lovely, life-affirming movie about how the complications of the world can drive families apart, and why they might need each other anyways.

No matter how much time has passed, Gilmore Girls will always have a special place in many fans’ hearts, especially during the fall. The series is arguably one of the best shows streaming on Netflix, and it’s hard to believe that the drama is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. There were definitely a lot of great moments to come from the show, both on-screen and off. However, some weren’t all great, as Lauren Graham once admitted to still being hurt about ER filming right down the street.

In celebration of the show’s 25^th anniversary, Graham and her on-screen daughter Alexis Bledel presented at the 2025 Emmy Awards in September. For the bit, they stood on a porch that was a replica of Lorelai’s, and it was like we were briefly taken back to Stars Hollow. The two recalled what it was like filming Gilmore Girls all those years ago and how small the production actually was, i.e., they had no money.

In a clip from the Emmys posted by ET, Bledel shared how they had to save up all year long to have their one snow episode, to which Graham hilariously added that ER would wet down their street and wash it all away. Bledel then told her to let it go, but Graham insisted that since ER had George Clooney, Gilmore could have at least gotten the snow:

This is so funny, and I was particularly entertained by Graham lamenting:

Plus, to make matters even funnier, as she was saying that, the camera cut to ER alum and current star of The Pitt, Noah Wyle, who was laughing over this whole bit.

As if it wasn’t obvious from Graham and Bledel’s exchange, both ER and Gilmore Girls filmed at Warner Bros. in Los Angeles at the same time. And from the sounds of it, their stages were right next to each other. It is pretty funny to know that after all these years, the actress is still (jokingly) upset about the snow, especially since ER was set in Chicago and had plenty of it.

That being said, ER had the luxury of being able to film in the Windy City a handful of times, as confirmed in a Chicago Tribune article.

It is interesting to hear about just how different filming was for Gilmore Girls and how they had very little money. Graham has not let up about the show wetting down the streets and melting the snow for their one episode. It didn’t help that ER had an actor like George Clooney, who, during Gilmore Girls’ run, was already a rising movie star and had starred on ER in the early seasons as Doug Ross.

Luckily, Gilmore Girls was able to create memorable snow episodes and make do with what they had, even if it wasn’t a lot. They might not have had Clooney, but they certainly managed to keep fans tuned in every season. The show is now a traditional autumn watch for many fans, and you can’t really say the same about ER. Though both shows continue to live on in big and great ways.

Thanks to its popularity on streaming, Gilmore Girls feels as fresh to me today as it has for the majority of my life. Still, occasionally, a moment comes that reminds me even the Netflix series A Year In The Life came out a whopping nine years ago. Yes, nine. In another 5 years, we could get a third generation show with a brand new teenager starting high school, and Alexis Bledel as the mom. This would make Lauren Graham the grandmother and Kelly Bishop a great grandmother, which is sobering to think about.

If we were to ever get another spinoff, I do believe the enduring “Which of Rory’s boyfriends is best” debate will never be put to rest (even if Gilmore Girls' creator would love it to). This is true even if Luke actor Scott Patterson is fond of calling them all “bums.” But as a rare Team Logan stan myself I could not get enough of the recent reunion between Ms. Bishop and Matt Czuchry at Lauren Graham’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony, as captured by ABC 7's Sophie Flay.

The video itself claims Emily was “Team Logan,” and given that adorable hug, I’d have to agree. There's additional evidence to back this up, as Bishop herself has stated she's Team Logan. It helps that he showed up for the other Gilmore Girls alum’s big Hollywood moment. No offense to Milo Ventimiglia and Jared Padalecki, but I didn’t see the other two of Rory’s boyfriends making that effort. Who’s the best boyfriend now, y’all?

In fact, Graham even joked about this during her speech at the awards ceremony, noting the following (and I’m only sorry Chad Michael Murray’s Tristan didn’t make the cut):

A smattering of people from the original series did show up for Graham’s ceremony, including Bishop, Czuchry, Patterson, and Yanic Truesdale (who was until recently busy with Amy Sherman-Palladino’s canceled-too-soon series Etoile). Mae Whitman, who played her daughter on Parenthood, also attended, as did her longtime friend and former roommate Connie Britton.

It was a nice crowd, but definitely the only one earning those extra brownie points was Czuchry, and not just because he’s even gentlemanly when explaining why Rory was right to turn down Logan’s proposal. Granted, the actor’s coming off stints on AHS and The Resident while Milo Ventimiglia and Jared Padalecki have pretty full dance cards when it comes to roles coming up, but still. Just another reason why Team Logan is the best; don’t come at me Jess stans.

Every fall, Gilmore Girls is one of the most rewatched shows due to its charming New England backdrop and whimsical soundtrack. This year also happens to be its 25th anniversary, giving extra incentive to return to Stars Hollow. So, Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore) and Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore) honored their beloved show by reuniting onstage at the Emmys last month, despite never receiving the coveted award during its run on TV. Now, the last time the mother-daughter duo appeared together on our screens and in character was during the finale of Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, and nearly a decade later, Lauren Graham is sharing her take on that polarizing final scene.

Fans were thrilled when Netflix revived Gilmore Girls for a four-part limited series in 2016, until they reached those four final words. Some fans didn’t like being left on a cliffhanger and still pretend the scene doesn’t exist to this day. All these years later, Graham tells Variety she still is confused by the mixed reviews:

I have no doubt it was wonderful to return to Stars Hollow with the original cast and creator to film A Year In The Life, and Lauren Graham must have been just as thrilled to see her Gilmore family reunite to support her last week as she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

As someone who has watched all of Gilmore Girls, I personally agree with the Mighty Ducks actress. I thought A Year In The Life was the perfect addendum to their story, and that the entire storyline, including the ending, was very full circle. There are plenty of fans who feel the same way, and I think many of the negative reactions stemmed from fans feeling frustrated over the shocking ending. Had they been promised another season, with answers as to who Rory’s baby daddy is, then I don’t think there would have been much backlash.

Despite trying to avoid negative reviews on her work, Graham did recognize that fans only react so strongly because they care so much about Gilmore Girls.

I certainly think writer Amy Sherman-Palladino knew what she was doing, though. Creating discourse among fans, whether it’s good or bad, is free publicity. The ending of A Year In The Life is certainly more memorable than the original Gilmore Girls ending, and I think that could have been her intention, for fans to never stop pondering the what-ifs. To me, it’s an iconic television mic drop.

Personally, I don’t feel the need to seek answers on the fate of the Gilmore Girls. It seems pretty clear to me that Rory is to be a single mother just like Loralei, with the father (who I think could be Matt Czuchry’s Logan) who is in and out of both his daughter's and Rory’s lives, similar to Rory’s own father, Christopher. Only this time, Rory has her mother, Loraelai, to lean on.

However, there are fans still seeking closure over the matter, and the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel creator and Twinless actress recently provided a sliver of hope to hang onto. Sherman-Palladino has repeatedly said that she will never close the Gilmore Girls door, with Graham also saying she would always “welcome coming back,” hinting that perhaps the end of A Year In The Life could also be seen as a new beginning. This would be the obvious angle for a reboot, seeing Rory’s child going through her own teenage angst, alongside Rory’s adult storyline. I’m here for it, but as of right now, there is no confirmed reboot in the works.

Some actors, no matter how long their career or how great their talent, will forever be first known for one iconic TV role. This isn't an indictment of their careers at all. In fact, in many ways, it tells the whole story. They were so good at one particular role that no matter what, that's what people will think of first. To be sure, these are some of the best actors of their generations ,and they deserve praise for all their roles, but especially these.

Kelsey Grammer - Frasier Crane

For a total of an amazing 20 years, Kelsey Grammer has played Frasier Crane. First on Cheers, then on its spinoff Frasier, and again in the reboot of Frasier in the 2020s. There may be no more obvious actor to include on this list.

Mariska Hargitay - Olivia Benson

Mariska Hargitay is Hollywood royalty as the daughter of Jayne Mansfield, and she's carved out on heck out her own career playing Olivia Benson on NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She has played since the end of the 20th Century, more than 25 seasons in total. There is no other character in prime time history with a longer run than Hargitay's Benson. It's remarkable.

Jessica Walter - Lucille Bluth

The late Jessica Walter had an incredible career, but for many, she'll always be known for one of her final roles, Lucille Bluth on the cult classic Arrested Development. She was so hilarious and quotable that it's easy to see why this is the case.

Peter Falk - Columbo

Peter Falk completely embodied Detective Columbo on the show that carried that character's name. He defined a new kind of TV detective, a style that has been often imitated but never duplicated over the years since Columbo debuted. He was funny and wicked smart. A Holmesian-style detective who never found a dry cleaner.

Tom Selleck - Thomas Magnum

Tom Selleck was a hard one to include here. Thomas Magnum was one of two iconic roles, along with Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods, that Selleck has played in his career. That's not to mention Jesse Stone, another fan-favorite. But in the end, it's all about Magnum P.I., one of the best shows ever.

Lauren Graham - Lorelai Gilmore

Lauren Graham is another tough one here, because Lorelai Gilmore is hardly her only big role on TV, but none of her other shows have been nearly as enduring as Gilmore Girls and that isn't likely to change in the future. It'll always be what her fans think of first.

Lucille Ball - Lucy Ricardo

Lucille Ball was a groundbreaking legend, and that is entirely due to her iconic character Lucy Ricardo on I Love Lucy. The list of what made the show, and the comedic actor, is so long, we could never fill it out here, but she also doesn't really need any explanation. She's the queen of early TV for very good reason, and that can never be taken away.

Peter Dinklage - Tyrion Lannister

Peter Dinklage might not like to hear this... or maybe he would... but Tyrion Lannister is such an amazing role, and Dinklage's performance is completely worthy of such an iconic literary and TV character. Game of Thrones took over the television watching audience completely, and Dinklage's Lannister was almost everyone's favorite. He's done great work all through his long career, but it will be impossible to top Tyrion.

Sean Hayes - Jack McFarland

Jack McFarland from Will & Grace is one of the most underappreciated characters in any sitcom in Hollywood history. Sean Hayes is fantastic in the role, and he'll have people saying "Just Jack!" forever.

Angela Lansbury - Jessica Fletcher

Angela Lansbury had a storied career that lasted decades, and every time she appeared on screen, she lit it up. Jessica Fletcher on Murder She Wrote was her crowning achievement. She's one of the best TV detectives of all time, even if there were way too many murders in Cabot Cove than there should have been.

Henry Winkler - The Fonz

Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli. Fonzie. The Fonz. A character of many names, and one iconic look. Henry Winkler has had a career that most actors can only dream of, but his role on Happy Days will always be what he is first known for. We should all be so cool.

Sarah Michelle Gellar - Buffy Summers

Sarah Michelle Gellar's role in the movie Cruel Intentions may be her most iconic movie role, but it doesn't eclipse her role as Buffy Summers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Not even close. It'll always be her most beloved role.

James Gandolfini - Tony Soprano

On one hand, it's a shame that James Gandolfini is on this list. His premature death will always have us asking "what if?" On the other hand, he is so freaking GREAT as Tony Soprano in The Sopranos, that its impossible not to include him here. Just watching him in anything else, or old interviews, you quickly realize that he completely disappeared into the gangster. It's remarkable.

Gillian Anderson - Dana Scully

Speaking from experience, I can say that many teenagers in the 1990s have a huge crush on Dana Scully on The X-Files. She was smart and capable, but with an air of mystery that really kept viewers guessing, in the best way.

William Shatner - Captain Kirk

Personally, I think William Shatner's best role was on Boston Legal. He was also amaing in TJ Hooker. However, even if he had 1000 legendary roles over his career, he would still be most remember for James T. Kirk in Str Trek. That's how iconic the role, and the show are.

Matthew Perry - Chandler Bing

It was a real tragedy when the world lost Matthew Perry in late 2023. He was a once-in-a-generation talent and, in many ways, was first among equals on Friends. He was in some other great projects, like The Whole Nine Yards and Fools Rush In, but let's be honest, he'll always be Chandler in our hearts.

Amy Poehler - Leslie Knope

Amy Poehler was a star on SNL and in a ton of great movies. However, she was absolutely born to play Leslie Knope on Parks & Rec. It's almost hard to believe she isn't actually Leslie in real life, and that's meant to be the most sincere of compliments.

Michael K. Williams - Omar Little

Of all the amazing characters and actors on The Wire, Omar and Michael K. Williams stand out above them all. He was one of the most honest and complex characters in TV history, and the late Williams, another actor we lost way too soon, will be forever remembered for his portrayal of the Baltimore stick-up man.

George Wendt - Norm Peterson

Cheers had an amazing ensemble of comedic actors, and as a kid, my favorite was always George Wendt and his character Norm. He was the most popular guy in the bar and the most popular with viewers. When Wendt died in 2025, everyone started sharing their favorite moments of his from the show, despite the show ending decades ago.

Mary Tyler Moore - Mary Richards

Mary Tyler Moore made it after all, and all on her own. Her titular show was the highlight of her long, incredible career, and it's a good thing the show was named after her, because she deserves to be remembered forever for it.

Wayne Knight has popped up in all kinds of roles in his career. We'll never forget him for his performance in the original Jurassic Park, for example, but it's Newman on Seinfeld that we'll always love him most for. He might not have been a main character, but that is testimony to just how good he was. He's as remembered as the "big four" despite playing a much more limited role. That takes a great actor and an even better performance, and he did over the entire run of the show.

Ian McShane - Al Swearengen

Al Swearengen from Deadwood is one of the best characters of the prestige era of TV. Ian McShane has had a long, distinguished career, and at the top of the list of his great performances is as the foul-mouthed, tavern-owning gangster in the HBO Western.

Danica McKellar - Winnie Cooper

Ask anyone in Gen X about Danica McKellar, and they might mention her Hallmark movies. They might also mention her wonderful guest turn on The West Wing. In the case of both of those, though, they will come after they fondly reminisce about watching her as Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years. They grew up with Winnie and Kevin (Fred Savage). It was her earliest role, but it remains her most iconic.

Gilmore Girls will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year, and it still remains one of the most popular shows on Netflix year after year. The picturesque fictional New England town of Stars Hollow provides the perfect backdrop for the relatable life challenges Lorelai and Rory Gilmore face. And fans can’t get enough of the mother-daughter besties. However, there is one storyline during the show’s 7 season run that even Lauren Graham isn’t a fan of, and I’m right there with her.

Throughout the course of the series, Gilmore Girls covered disapproving parents, being a single mom, typical teenage trials, and finding love and losing it. However, on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the Parenthood actress revealed there was one storyline she felt didn’t work well, and it involved a fight with her TV daughter:

The conflict in question happens when Rory decides to drop out of Yale in the Season 5 finale, after newspaper head honcho Mitchum Huntzberger tells her she doesn’t have what it takes to accomplish her dreams. Not to mention, she gets in a spot of legal trouble after a wild night with her boyfriend. Disappointed in Rory and not willing to watch her throw her life out the window, Lorelai cuts her only daughter off.

I’m surprised Lauren Graham doesn’t remember the reason for the explosive argument. For half a season, the mother-daughter duo lived separately and didn’t speak. This estrangement spanned months for the characters, with some pretty big milestones passing during this period, like Luke and Lorelai’s engagement and Rory’s 21st birthday.

I honestly feel so validated hearing the Parenthood actress say this out loud though. I personally refer to the majority of Season 6 as The Dark Ages of Gilmore Girls, because I really struggled to get through those episodes.

As someone who is a late-in-life Gilmore Girls fan, I binged it all with my Netflix subscription back in high school. I flew through the first few seasons up until this point in the series. I get what Amy Sherman-Palladino was trying to do with a conflict storyline, but this one just wasn’t it, and I think I know why.

Jess, Rory’s ex-boyfriend, sums it up best when he meets her and Logan for dinner in Season 6. This iconic moment in Gilmore Girls is part of the reason why he’s my personal favorite of her beaus, and he truly speaks what likely was on everyone’s minds:

The whole storyline felt out of character for Rory, and I think that was the main reason why it didn’t land with fans. Her careless attitude and actions were difficult to watch for everyone. I can’t say I blame Lorelai for giving her the cold shoulder. Oftentimes, when the mother and daughter fought, I found myself siding with Lorelai. Usually, the fights were over poor decisions Rory made that didn’t align with the character’s morals, like being the mistress in Dean’s marriage.

At the end of the day, what made the season less than enjoyable was that these actions were keeping the Gilmore girls apart. After all, it’s their dynamic, that witty and loving give and take, that was so relatable and comforting for audiences.

Thankfully, eventually, the duo made up, and the show carried on and even got a revival. Co-creator Amy Sherman-Palladino recently commented that she’s always open to the idea of more Gilmore Girls, and Lorelai herself admitted the 4-part revival didn’t feel like the end of their story. The original set still stands today, so all we need is a good idea and a green light. I will always tune in, so long as the Gilmore girls are together.

Gilmore Girls — the endlessly rewatchable series about the fast-talking, pop culture-referencing mother/daughter duo Lorelai and Rory — has remained so popular with fans that even after seven seasons and a four-part Netflix revival in 2016, they still want more. While Milo Ventimiglia has suggested that’s like asking for more cake after you’ve already had cake, it sounds like Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino may feel differently, as they discussed another return to Stars Hollow.

Amy Sherman-Palladino — the brains behind the Gilmore Girls operation — and star Lauren Graham served up a piping hot cup of hope straight from Luke’s Diner (or, rather, PaleyFest 2025), as the producer answered questions about another revival (the first of which can be streamed with a Netflix subscription) by saying they never shut the door on more Gilmore Girls. Sherman-Palladino told TV Insider:

The fact that the Gilmore Girls cast and crew like each other so much is quite an important factor in whether or not they will reunite again after so many years. From Amy Sherman-Palladino’s comments, it doesn’t sound like anything is in the works, but with the first revival happening so unexpectedly, she knows better than to shut the door completely.

Lauren Graham, who also attended PaleyFest, certainly made no secret of her own feelings about reprising the role of Lorelai, as she said:

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life — four feature-length episodes that each represented a different season in Rory and Lorelai’s life — ended on what felt like a cliffhanger, with Rory telling her mom she’s pregnant. For the better part of a decade, fans have theorized over who Rory’s baby daddy is, so it makes complete sense that Lauren Graham would describe the revival as the “beginning” of something, rather than the end.

Amy Sherman-Palladino has previously said another revival would come down to the actors’ schedules (and that’s no small obstacle, given the Gilmore Girls cast member’s other projects). I kind of agree with Milo Ventimiglia that it feels a bit greedy to hope for more, but if Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel did ever come back together for more, I’d be the first one on that train to Stars Hollow.

For now, though, we’ll have to continue to make due with our rewatches. All seven seasons of Gilmore Girls can be streamed with a Hulu subscription, with the entire series and the revival available on Netflix.

It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Lauren Graham as Gilmore Girls’ Lorelai Gilmore and even longer since her tenure as Sarah Braverman in Parenthood (streaming now with a Hulu subscription). Even still, as two of the most fantastic but overlooked TV moms out there, she has remained true to the roots of both women. Graham has maintained sweet familial relationships with past cast members, including Mae Whitman. Unfortunately, the Gilmore side of the Graham let slip Whitman’s apparent baby daddy as her past Up Here costar, Carlos Valdes.

While the actress-author visited past Parenthood co-star Dax Shepard on his podcast, Armchair Expert, she casually let it slip. The AE host praised his guest’s continuing relationship with The DUFF star, as well as how cool their younger former castmate is in general. The Bad Santa alum was in full agreement, and that’s when the hype-y best mom material outed Whitman and her parent partner, Valdes. Graham shared of the young duo’s current happenings in life:

Big whoops but all well intended by Graham. It comes as no surprise since the end of Parenthood in 2015, fans have seen small glimpses of her friendship with Whitman. The most notable post-TV family was an onscreen reunion of the actresses on the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life series.

Needless to say, even beyond the podcast episode, these two former peers are pretty close. The Hope Floats alum hasn’t responded to the news but I have a feeling these two are talking behind the scenes. Let's hope that this oops moment's aftermath reflects the brighter side of their fictional counterpoints since they've stood through many ups and downs in their careers.

Not long after the ​​Good Girls cancellation, Whitman landed the Up Here series, where she met Carlos Valdes. The Arrested Development alum has remained private about all of the personal matters in her life, including her pregnancy with a post here and there. I hope for her and Graham’s relationship that all will be forgiven sooner than later, because it did seem like she catching Shepard up with their past castmate’s current whereabouts. The Up Here peers seem like a wonderful match and hope that the outing doesn’t disrupt their lives for too long.

Hopefully next time Lauren Graham gushes over her ex-Parenthood daughter, Mae Whitman, she’ll keep the praising a little more streamlined. Although it’s nice to know that Whitman’s baby daddy seems like a great guy.

Gilmore Girls was not just a hit that ran for seven seasons in the early 2000s, but a show that’s still beloved by fans to the point where a sequel miniseries was made in 2016 (which you can watch with your Netflix subscription), nine years after the original finale. The O.C. (2003-2007)

Is bringing up Fox’s early aughts mega-hit teen drama The O.C. this quickly a bit of a cheat? Sure, but we can’t deny that without the popularity of his Dave Rygalski in Season 3, we might never have gotten actor Adam Brody as the funny, loyal, Summer-obsessed Seth Cohen in one of the defining teen shows of all time.

The Handmaid’s Tale (2017-2021)

Much like viewers were probably not prepared to watch Padalecki fight monsters after his time on Gilmore Girls, I doubt most could have expected to see star Alexis Bledel take on Dr. Emily Malek, the strong-willed and rebellious Handmaid first known as Ofglen. She won an Emmy Award for her role, so this is one drama not to miss.

Parenthood (2010-2015)

There might be no character more strong-willed, funny and quirky than Lorelei Gilmore, who was brought to life so exceptionally by Lauren Graham. If that character description sounds a lot like Sarah Braverman-Holt from NBC’s family drama, Parenthood, then you get why Graham was a perfect fit for both.

Bride & Prejudice (2004)

A small role is a role nonetheless, and if you check out the amazing Jane Austen-inspired rom-com, Bride & Prejudice, you’ll see Bledel as Georgie Darcy, Will’s younger sister.

The Good Wife (2009-2016)

Say what you will about being Team Logan, but the Huntzberger boy still has his supporters even today. This is probably because Matt Czuchry did such a good job portraying him, much like he did the charming go-getter Cary Agos on CBS’ legal drama, The Good Wife.

Fire Country (2024)

As one of the biggest dramas on CBS, Fire Country is hard to miss and even harder to dislike. That’s why it’s the perfect show to check out to see Jared Padalecki as the still-grieving firefighter Camden Casey during Season 3.

Saw IV (2007)

Honestly, were you expecting to see something as horrific as Saw IV on this list? Well, you might be even more surprised to know that Scott Patterson, who played Luke Danes, appeared in a total of three Saw films as determined FBI agent Peter Strahm.

This Is Us (2016-2022)

Can you imagine if anyone has forgotten This Is Us? NBC’s family drama was an immediate success, with the trailer for the very first season racking up a staggering number of views. Of course, you can revel in your Team Jess status by watching Milo Ventimiglia portray loving patriarch Jack Pearson.

13 Reasons Why (2017-2018)

13 Reasons Why is a teen drama that made major waves during its run on Netflix, but you might not know that Keiko Agena, who brought Lane Kim to life on GG, spent the first two seasons playing the kind and protective communications teacher, Pamela Bradley.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (2024)

If you can be in the mood for a holiday film all year long, then 2024’s The Best Christmas Pageant Ever should be added to your viewing calendar. In it, Lauren Graham brings her signature charm to the role of Beth Bradley.

Of all the GG actors who one might have expected to appear in a giant blockbuster franchise, few fans would likely have bet on the actor who gave us the wonderfully nice but odd Kirk Gleason, Sean Gunn. Bridesmaids (2011)

For the first time on this list, we get to Melissa McCarthy, who played beloved chef Sookie St. James. She was in several projects after Gilmore Girls ended, but the comedy hit Bridesmaids, where she played the loyal but crude and somewhat erratic Megan, launched her career into the stratosphere. She received an Oscar nomination for her work, so it’s not to be missed.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist (2020-2021)

The jukebox musical dramedy series, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, was a treat, but if you missed its two seasons on NBC, know that Lauren Graham played a major role in Season 1 as Zoey’s strict boss, Joan.

The Cleaning Lady (2022-Now)

Any show about gangsters needs a good cop investigating and trying to bring them down, and Liza Weil has starred as confident and cunning FBI agent Katherine Russo on The Cleaning Lady for the thriller’s entire run so far.

This follow-up to The Mighty Ducks film franchise hit Disney+ and brought GG fans more of Lauren Graham, as she starred as Alex Morrow, who forms and then coaches a new underdog hockey team after her son is cut by the Ducks.

The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants (2005)

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a two-film franchise that still means a lot to those who were young women at the time it was released. There’s no better time than now to revisit (or watch for the first time) Alexis Bledel as Lena in both films.

An Unmarried Woman (1978)

Here’s a throwback for you. The 1978 romantic comedy-drama, An Unmarried Woman, features a performance from none other than Emily Gilmore herself, Kelly Bishop, as Elaine, a good friend of the title character.

The Lost Boys (1987)

Alright, this one’s technically a throwback, too, it just doesn’t go back quite as far. But, The Lost Boys is a definite teen horror classic, along with talents like Kiefer Sutherland and Corey Feldman, stars Richard Gilmore actor, Edward Hermann, in an important role.

Prodigal Son (2019-2021)

This Fox crime drama may not have lasted long, but it certainly had a dedicated fanbase, and some of that was likely because of Keiko Agena’s work as the kind, trusting, and socially awkward medical examiner, Dr. Edrisa Tanaka.

Sullivan’s Crossing (2023-2024)

The family drama, Sullivan’s Crossing, came to The CW with a treat for Gilmore Girls fans, as it brought Scott Patterson back to the network as the estranged father, Sully, of the lead character, big city neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan, who returns to her small Nova Scotia town after a scandal.

Mike & Molly (2010-2016)

The long-running comedy Mike & Molly is another of Melissa McCarthy’s post-GG projects. This CBS hit saw the titular couple fall in love after a health-related meet-cute, and work on their relationship while attempting to deal with their often wacky families and friends, and life’s many ups and downs. Check it out for McCarthy’s Emmy-winning performance.

Sin City (2005)

Based on the comic book series of the same name, Sin City is a noirish, action-filled crime drama that just so happens to feature Alexis Bledel as a…well, not entirely trustworthy participant in the rampant criminal shenanigans that abound in the sinful city of the title.

The John Larroquette Show (1993-1996)

One of the very few series to take place in St. Louis, Missouri, The John Larroquette Show was a sitcom that saw the actor portray the night manager of a run-down downtown bus station, with Liz Torres, who played the bubbly and gossipy dance teacher Miss Patty on Gilmore Girls, as his secretary. Torres received two Emmy nominations for her work here, so it’s definitely worth a watch.

The Resident (2018-2023)

Considering the number of medical shows that tend to fill the airwaves, it’s a bit of a surprise that it’s taken this long to get to one, but it is a pretty fine one. The Resident stars Matt Czuchry as the conceited (but still somehow charming) Dr. Conrad Hawkins, a third-year resident who practices with unconventional techniques and a knowledge of the business of medicine who’s determined to stop younger residents from putting their chosen profession on a pedestal.

All In The Family (1971-1978)

If you haven’t yet watched the classic ‘70s sitcom, All In the Family, you’re missing out. Not only does the Norman Lear series use its humor to tackle a number of hot-button issues that are still very relevant for today’s audiences, but it also features Sally Struthers (she was Lorelei and Rory’s nosy neighbor in Stars Hollow, Babette) in her Emmy-winning role as Gloria, the somewhat childish, college-aged daughter of Archie and Edith Bunker.

Walker (2021-2024)

After his immensely successful run on Supernatural, Jared Padalecki moved right on to yet another show on The CW. This one, Walker, was a reimagining of the long-running Chuck Norris hit Walker, Texas Ranger, which saw Padalecki take on the lead role as he returned home after being undercover for two years while trying to reconnect with his teenage children and figure out how his wife really died.

True Blood (2008-2014)

Here’s one that’s easy to miss, even if you’re a die-hard Gilmore Girls fan. Among the many characters, human and supernatural, who populated the HBO vampire series True Blood for seven seasons, you see plenty of Merlotte's Bar & Grill short order cook, the kind but troubled Terry Bellefleur. But, did you know that he’s portrayed by Todd Lowe, the same guy who brought us Hep Alien’s dim, womanizing, guitar-playing, lead-singing wanna-be rock star Zack Van Gerbig? Well, now you do!

Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018)

Melissa MacCarthy was able to hit the Academy Awards red carpet as a nominee again when she starred in the biographical film Can You Ever Forgive Me? As writer Lee Israel. It’s based on Israel’s memoir of the same name, where she talks about her attempt to revive her writing career by forging letters from deceased celebrities and selling them. This critically acclaimed drama is one not to miss.

Spy (2015)

Last, but not least, we have another of Melissa McCarthy’s winning comedies in Spy. The movie follows CIA employee Susan Cooper, who is only allowed to assist her James Bond-esque partner via a desk job at the home office and an earpiece. But, when an operation goes wrong and leads to her partner’s death, Susan volunteers to go into the field and get to the bottom of things. Seeing as how this is a McCarthy film, you can bet that the situation gets hilariously out of hand before all is said and done, and you’ll be better for it!

As you can clearly see, while Gilmore Girls has been off the air for nearly 20 years, not only has it not been forgotten, but its stars have continued to keep us entertained in a number of other TV shows and movies, and hopefully will for many years to come!

As Gilmore Girls approaches its 25th anniversary next year, it feels like the show just gets bigger and bigger every year, especially now that the TV series just became available to stream with a Hulu subscription (along with a Netflix subscription). In celebration of a title that has gone down in history as one of the most rewatchable TV shows ever, Warner Bros. invited CinemaBlend to experience a very special day in Stars Hollow this week. As a huge fan of the series who grew up watching it over and over, I need to talk about my experience that included a cast reunion and speaking with Luke Danes himself!

On Wednesday, I had the incredible opportunity to go to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood’s annual “Holidays Made Here” event which is happening in Burbank, California from now until January 5. Opening day of the event had tons of fans like myself lining up for coffee at Luke’s Diner, taking holiday photos around Stars Hollow and watching some of the original cast reunite to reminisce about the iconic show. Here are my main takeaways from the day.

I’m So Happy The Original Set Still Exists, And Can Be Experienced By Fans

For a show that has been off the air for over 15 years (minus the 2016 Netflix revival A Year In The Life), it’s pretty amazing to see Stars Hollow is very much intact on the Warner Bros. lot for visitors from around the world to walk around and enjoy. This isn’t new information, as the set has been made available to the public for quite some time, but getting to walk around and inside and feel like you’re really having an afternoon in the fictional Connecticut town is pretty magical. I especially loved going inside places like Kim’s Antiques, Doose’s Market and the Dragonfly Inn.

Funny enough, that day, even though we were very much in December, and California has been acting like it, it was into the 80s Fahrenheit. I ended up trading my sweater for an adorable “Stars Hollow Books” T-shirt and a smoothie from one of the counters (aptly titled “The Luke,” since it had coffee in it) to cool off. Being on the actual set gave me a real appreciation for how the production was able to completely fool me into transporting me to another side of the the United States when I watch it, even though it was technically being shot just hours away from me when it was being filmed.

The Gilmore Girls Cast Genuinely Seem Like A Family, And That Extends To The Fans

As a fan, I also got a kick out of seeing the fandom interact with not only the sets, but some of the cast members during the Warner Bros. holiday event. If you didn’t know, the actor behind Luke Danes, Scott Patterson, has had a Gilmore Girls podcast since 2021 called I’m All In, where he watched the entire series for the first time. After recently finishing his watchthrough of the whole show, he announced he’d be recording more episodes of his commentary rewatching it (“I’m All In… Again”), but this time he'll have celebrity guests on with him, including his fellow cast members.

For this event, he did a podcast taping, which had him reuniting with Michael Winters (Taylor Doose), Ted Rooney (Morey Dell), Gregg Henry, (Mitchum Huntzberger), Rose Abdoo (Gypsy) and Emily Kuroda (Mrs. Kim) on a stage in the middle of Stars Hollow for fans to watch them talk about the making of the show. It was so sweet to see how comforted and happy both the cast and the fans were. The fans would often help out the actors on specific episode moments with more details, and when they took audience questions, one fan said “they raised” her. During the event, I witnessed fans point out places in the town where certain events in the series happened, and there was also an engagement.

One Gilmore Girls Debate Is Alive And Well With The Fandom, But I Was Surprised About The Cast’s Thoughts On It

A large conversation around Gilmore Girls has always been regarding who Rory should be with. The fans are split into three camps on the topic: Team Dean, Team Jess and Team Logan. They actually were offering free buttons with one of these distinctions for fans to parade around with. Of course, the cast members who were there were asked who they think Rory’s baby daddy is (from the ending of A Year In A Life), and every one of them said Logan – except for Winters, who said he had no clue, and Henry, who provided a funny “I don’t condone this situation.” Kelly Bishop once said she was Team Logan once, too!

I obviously need to rewatch Gilmore Girls now, because I’ve lost the plot on what “Team” I am nowadays aside from Team Rory, but I was quite surprised that not a single person thought it might be Jess’s. When I watched the 2016 version, that was definitely what I got from it. I’m ok if it’s Logan’s, but I was surprised the cast wasn’t divided on it. Perhaps they know something we don’t.

The Impact Of Gilmore Girls Is Very Much With Scott Patterson, And He’s So Sweet About It

During the event, Warner Bros. also offered me the chance to spend a few minutes talking with Scott Patterson on his set, and that was surreal, particularly because Patterson was wearing a flannel T-shirt and a backwards cap on that very day to channel his character. When I asked him what it feels like to be back at Stars Hollow now that it’s an attraction. In his words:

The actor’s relevance as a Gilmore Girls icon has only grown since he shot the series in the early 2000s. When the show was made, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has said they had “zero money.” You’d think it was Warner Bros’ biggest series these days, and as Patterson shared, being recognized as Luke is a regular part of life for him.

By the way, Scott Patterson was as genuine as can be. He's sincerely grateful to be a member of the Gilmore Girls cast and completely aware of how “meaningful” the series is to people.

And, The Cast Didn’t At All Shy Away From Offering Hope For Another Revival

That brings me to my final big takeaway from my nostalgia trip through Stars Hollow. During the Q&A, as you can imagine, one fan had to blurt out to them the question of whether another revival would be in the works. Patterson riled up the crowd with this answer:

I certainly hope so! It’s been almost a decade at this point since A Year In A Life, and we have questions about what’s next for all the characters. Here’s hoping it does come. Where you lead, we will follow! Holidays Made Here is happening now at Warner Bros. Studios, the show is streaming on two platforms now! While so many shows have tried to be like Gilmore Girls, wow, did this experience remind me again how special this series is.

Certain long-running TV shows end up becoming a part of pop culture forever, and Gilmore Girls is definitely in that category. The beloved WB series has been watched and re-watched countless times by fans since its inception, with Netflix eventually producing a four-part event series titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. And while I'm a hardcore fan who loves Stars Hallow and its residents, there are 32 moments where Lauren Graham's Lorelai Gilmore is the absolute worst and doesn't realize it.

This isn't to say that I hate Lorelai, but she makes plenty of mistakes during the show's seven-season run, as well as A Year in the Life. The three titular Gilmore Girls are flawed, which is why fans love them so much. That being said below are some moments where Lorelai messed things up. We'll just have to wait and see if Gilmore Girls ever returns, and if Lorelai changed at all.

Running away from her wedding with Max.

Lorelai has plenty of dating foibles throughout Gilmore Girls' run, and can sometimes be the problem when things go wrong. This was definitely the case back in Season 2, where Lorelai and Rory fled town to avoid her wedding to Max. Poor guy.

Fighting with Rory about how she lost her virginity.

While Rory and Lorelai are best friends in addition to their mother/daughter connection, occasionally they have disagreements during Gilmore Girls. And there are few bigger explosions than in Season 4, where Lorelai comes home and finds Rory and Dean in bed. Since Dean is a married man, she tells her daughter off, resulting in Rory crying and her first time being soured. 

Not letting Emily and Richard be in Rory's life.

One big plot point throughout Gilmore Girls is Lorelai's strained relationship with her parents and their lifestyle. But her aversion to Richard and Emily can sometimes hold Rory back from being closer to her grandparents, which just feels icky to me. 

Marrying Christopher in Paris.

Christopher and Lorelai were high school sweethearts who suddenly got pregnant as teenagers. The timing was always wrong for them, until it wasn't. At that point (and coming off the heels of Lorelai's engagement to Luke) they spontaneously got married in Paris, without even Rory there to celebrate. 

Giving Luke the ultimatum. 

Luke and Lorelai were endgame since the first episode of Gilmore Girls, with fans waiting years before they finally got together. But when they did there were some issues, especially related to them delaying their engagement and Luke's focus on his daughter, April. Eventually, Lorelai gets fed up and gives him an ultimatum, resulting in their break-up.

Interrupting town meetings.

Lorelai is known for her quick wit and sense of humor, with jokes often poking fun at her loved ones and strangers alike. And whenever she and Rory are at Stars Hollow town meeting, they're sure to interrupt things, go on rants, and make poor Taylor into a basket case.

Body shaming people in A Year in the Life.

While the Gilmore Girls can do basically no wrong in my book, there are a few moments of theirs which haven't aged well. Case in point: the opening moments of "Summer" from A Year in the Life, where Lorelai and Rory spent time judging their fellow Stars Hollow residents' bodies while sitting at the community pool.

Mocking a Broadway show.

If there's one thing Lorelai likes to do during Gilmore Girls, it's to mock those around her. That includes in Season 3 when she travels to New York to see a Broadway show with Sookie, Jackson, and her date Alex. But they mock the show and call it garbage right in front of the theater, where anyone could hear them.

Refusing to get involved at Chilton.

Throughout the first three seasons of Gilmore Girls, we watch as Rory tries to acclimate to life at her fancy prep school Chilton. While Lorelai asks Emily and Richard to pay in exchange for Friday Night dinners, she also refuses to get involved in the school, ultimately being strong-armed by Headmaster Charleston himself to join the Booster Club. 

Initially refusing Yale, even after Rory showed interest.

Since Lorelai has such deep issues related to her parents and upbringing, she gets triggered whenever Rory bonds with them. So when it was revealed that Rory applied to Yale aka Richard's alma matter, she wasn't happy. At least, not at first.

Staying overnight with Rory after dropping her off at college.

In Season 4 of Gilmore Girls, Rory moves out of the house and into her first dorm at Yale. While the episode "Lorelai's First Day at Yale" is fun, it also shows how codependent they are. I mean, what mother stays overnight after dropping off their kid at college?

Her comments after Richard's death.

When A Year in the Life was announced by Netflix, fans wondered how the show would handle the death of Richard Gilmore actor Edward Hermann. The answer was by killing off Richard, and during "Fall" we saw Lorelai fail to mention a happy memory of her father after the funeral, resulting in a huge fight with Emily. 

Letting Rory lie for her to Luke.

Lorelai is a great mother, but she definitely makes a few mistakes throughout the run of Gilmore Girls. In Season 5 she visits with Christopher after his father dies. While they just drink and hang out, she keeps it from Luke... and even lets Rory lie for her to cover it up. 

Not wanting to spend Thanksgiving with the Gilmores.

"A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving" is an episode I watch annually around the titular holiday, and it's a blast watching the Gilmore Girls eat their way through four dinners. But Lorelai wanting to blow off her family for Thanksgiving never sat right with me, and wasn't a great example to set for Rory. Just let your parents love you, Lorelai!

Mocking bed and breakfasts when she works in hospitality. 

While Lorelai likes to mock everyone and anything, sometimes her biases make no sense. When she and Rory visit a bed and breakfast on their road trip away from her wedding, she pokes fun at them incessantly. But since she also works in hospitality, this seems like a kind of a jerk move. 

Her speech at Lane and Zack's wedding.

When Lane and Zack get married in Season 6, it's a big event. During the party in the Town Square, Lorelai gets drunk and makes a speech referencing how she and Luke will seemingly never tie the knot themselves. Luckily the entire town covers up for her. 

Making Luke do a ton of housework for her birthday every year. 

It's fun seeing how relatively useless Lorelai is around the house, as someone who doesn't cook, paint, or anything else. It's revealed that every year on her birthday she gives Luke a huge list of chores around the house, which is a little rude considering she knows he was in love with her the whole time.

Letting Paul Anka run the house.

In Season 6 of Gilmore Girls Lorelai adopts a dog in the midst of her separation from Rory. Paul Anka was a beloved new character for the show, but Lorelai unsurprisingly was terrible at training him. If anything, the dog ran the house for the rest of the series, thanks to his hilarious quirks. 

Calling Pennilynn Lott her "almost Mommy."

There are a number of entries on this list where Lorelai offended her mother, and this is no exception. In Season 4 the Gilmore family attends the Yale/Harvard game, where Richard runs into his college sweetheart, Pennilynn Lott. With no regard for Emily's feelings, she refers to her as her "almost mommy" and contributes to a huge fight between Emily and Richard.

Hiding her letter for Luke from Christopher.

Lorelai tries to avoid conflict a lot in Gilmore Girls, which can often make the problems in her life that much worse. When she writes a letter defending Luke in his custody case, she hides it from her husband Christopher. Eventually, the drama boils over and the two men have a fistfight in the Stars Hollow town square.

Not speaking to Rory for most of Season 6.

Season 6 of Gilmore Girls is a controversial one for fans, as the two titular characters were feuding for the majority of its episodes. And while they both have reason to be upset, I ultimately blame Lorelai because she's the parent/adult in the situation. 

Judging other people's taste in music, movies etc.

Part of what makes Gilmore Girls such a fun viewing experience is the super quick dialogue, which is usually filled with a number of pop culture references. And while Lorelai helped fill her house with music for Rory, she sure does judge a lot of people's tastes throughout the series. 

Keeping her distance with Logan.

Given how close Lorelai and Rory are, it's hard for Lauren Graham's character to separate herself from her daughter's personal life at times. And because of Logan's backstory and how she met him, she failed to really ever get close with the heir to the Huntzberger legacy.

Asking the entire town of Stars Hollow to take in strangers after the Inn fire.

In Season 3 of Gilmore Girls, the Independence Inn has a giant fire. It's a total disaster, and in that moment of need, Lorelei somehow convinced the entire town of Stars Hollow to take guests into their homes for days at a time.

Messing with Emily's maids.

One consistent running joke throughout all of Gilmore Girls is that Emily is constantly firing and hiring her maids. But Lorelai adds insult to injury by messing with them various times. And yes, the results are hilarious. 

Not getting Luke a souvenir from Europe.

When Rory and Lorelai went on their backpack trip, they returned with a special gift for everyone in Stars Hollow. Well, everyone except poor Luke. Once again our favorite Diner owner got the shaft, and he deserved better.

Constantly terrorizing Michel at the Inn(s).

Lorelai loves messing with people, to the delight of both herself and the audience. And that includes her employees, like poor Michel. Sure he has an attitude problem, but maybe that's because of the high jinx he's forced to endure!  

Never given Jess a chance.

The biggest debate among Gilmore Girls fans is which of Rory's three boyfriends is the best. I'm personally #TeamJess, but Lorelai never was. She wrote him off after his terrible first impression, and things never really got that warm between the two of them. 

Ruining the baptism for Sookie's twins.

In Season 6 of Gilmore Girls when Lorelai and Rory aren't talking, a number of other characters try and bring them together. Melissa McCarthy's Sookie does this by making them each a godmother of one of her twins. But they start arguing in the middle of the ceremony, eventually leaving with the kids to talk outside. And that argument was started by Lorelai.

Calling Christopher during her bachelorette party.

When Lorelai was preparing to marry Max, she had a bachelorette party at a drag bar, with even Emily herself attending! But prior to ditching the wedding, she started to self-sabotage by calling Christopher from the bar. We should have known then that she wouldn't walk down the aisle. 

Messing with the seating chart for Emily and Richard's wedding.

There are few people that Lorelai likes tormenting more than her mother Emily. So when she and Richard were preparing to renew their vows, she took the opportunity to ruin her seating chart. Not only was this a little mean, but it ended up costing the wedding planner her job. Oops. 

Yelling at Dean after his break-up with Rory.

Lorelai sometimes has boundary problems, especially where Rory is involved. So when her daughter experiences her first heartbreak when she and Dean briefly break up early in Gilmore Girls' run, she sees red. Lorelai goes into this teenage boy's place of work and yells at him, and it's all very weird. 

Gilmore Girls was a bonding moment for my mother and I, particularly around Christmas when the show liked to tie into the holiday spirit permeating the air. So I was surprised to learn recently that a real-life therapist absolutely does not have the same attachment to the mother-daughter series my mom and I do. Said therapist recently explained why she won't watch dive into one of the best shows to binge-watch on Netflix with her daughter. 

No fast-paced dialogue? No debate over Team Logan, Jess or Dean? No wild overuse of coffee? No oddball townies popping in for a few lines of dialogue? Why? She explained. 

While Lorelei Gilmore makes some lists for best moms on TV, per an expert, it has to do with “flow-of-care” duties, or the idea that really a mother should be caring for her daughter in ways that nurture her and allow her to remain a kid for as long as possible. The boundaries Lorelei exhibits with Rory are nearly nonexistent and, according to the therapist who spoke with Insider, this is honestly why the relationship is so damaging. Per Hilary Mae, a therapist from Philadelphia: 

It may sound like an over-the-top response, but before Mae rewatched she did honestly think Gilmore Girls might be a positive bonding experience with her daughter. ... at least until she began watching it as an adult. 

Yet the expert said all that changed the second time she got through the series, however, and she no longer feels the mother-daughter relationship is one she wants to explore with her own kid. This is certainly her prerogative and one that is valid given the inadequacies most of the characters display on the series. If you’re looking to Gilmore Girls to model the healthiest relationships on television, you are absolutely not looking in the right place. 

Her comments are a different take but along the same vein as a recent viral tweet about Gilmore Girls that ran around questioning fans who are so into a show that is so "stressful" and not really enjoyable in some ways. 

Having said all of this, Lorelei is not perfect but she’s not an evil person. Amy Sherman-Palladino's favorite Emily Gilmore certainly displays her own selfish interests and inadequacies. Rory is in the throes of making her own mistakes throughout the majority of the series. I personally think what Sherman-Palladino was attempting to get across throughout the entire series is that people are complicated and the decisions they make are not always the best choices, but it's important to try hard and always work to be a better version of yourself.  

To me being able to see characters that were challenging and different than my own upbringing while I was still in the throes of growing up not only made for more interesting television, but also exposed me to a world outside my own naive viewpoint. Not every introduction to conflict is dangerous, and can be thought-provoking. Hopefully having seen Lorelei and Rory fight and bond over the years has helped families who watch to change, grow and stick with what they find to be positive and not negative about the relationship between the two titular Gilmore girls. 

I don't know if Gilmore Girls will get another revival season, but I say bring it on. 

Moms always deserve more credit than they get, and that goes for the wonderful matriarchs who have graced our television screens over the years. Characters like Carol Brady and Clair Huxtable are names that easily come to mind when thinking about the best TV moms, but there are so many more that deserve to be mentioned.

Sometimes mothers make mistakes despite trying their best. Others show their love in more unconventional ways, and some just seem to always get outshined by other members of their family. For one reason or another, below are some fantastic TV moms who never got enough credit.

Ruth Fisher (Six Feet Under)

Ruth Fisher’s whole life changed when her husband was killed in a car accident in the Six Feet Under series premiere. Not only was she tasked with continuing to run her family’s funeral home business, and come to terms with her own guilt, loneliness and identity, she had to help guide her grown children through their own grief. Ruth (Frances Conroy) wasn’t perfect — no issue on the HBO drama was black-and-white — but there was no question that she had put her children’s needs first for her whole life. 

Beth Pearson (This Is Us) 

When your mother-in-law is the indomitable Rebecca Pearson, it’s pretty easy to get overshadowed as a mom, and that’s precisely why Beth Pearson (Susan Kelechi Watson) on This Is Us never got enough credit. Her husband Randall was definitely a good partner, but Beth was the real MVP of the parenting dynamic duo, often able to anticipate her family’s emotions and sniff out any scheming going on with their three daughters. She even became a mother figure to many more by opening her own dance studio. 

Sarah Braverman (Parenthood) 

Parenthood gave viewers plenty of different family dynamics to dissect, and Kristina Braverman was tough to beat as a mother, going so far as to open up a charter school for children with special needs. So it's no wonder that her sister-in-law, former wild child Sarah Braverman (Lauren Graham), was never given much credit. Sarah struggled to raise Amber and Drew as a single mother, and boy did they not make it easy on her. She may not have always had all the answers, but she loved her kids first, and in the end they figured it out together. 

Rainbow Johnson (black-ish) 

Rainbow Johnson (Tracee Ellis Johnson) on black-ish deserves all the flowers, serving as the model of a successful working mom. Rainbow juggled being a doctor and raising five children, whom she respected as individuals. She put their problems ahead of her own to make sure they had a better life than she did as a kid. 

Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls) 

Lorelai Gilmore’s daughter Rory could always count on her mom for a snappy joke or pop culture reference, but Lorelai (Lauren Graham) certainly didn’t have it easy. Her relationship with her own parents was strained after getting pregnant at just 16 years old, making it all the more impressive when she made a life for her and Rory in Stars Hollow. She struggled at times to be patient with her own daughter’s mistakes, but she wasn’t too proud to accept her parents’ help when it benefited Rory. 

Marge Simpson (The Simpsons) 

Would the Simpson family even survive without Marge? Easily the most underappreciated of the family of five, Marge never got any help from Homer over the decades, as she raised three extremely different and never-aging children. In fact, Homer was more of a fourth child in that equation, and still Marge loved her husband and her kids. I don’t think there’s a person in the world who could blame her for the occasional frustrated grunt. 

Michonne (The Walking Dead) 

Despite her own trauma of losing a child in the walker outbreak, The Walking Dead’s Michonne (Danai Gurira) adopted Carl and Judith as her own (before going on have her own child with Rick Grimes), and she never hesitated to put her own life at risk to save them. 

Penelope Alvarez (One Day at a Time) 

Despite being a war veteran struggling with her own PTSD and depression, Penelope Alvarez (Justina Machado) was always able to give her children the attention they needed on One Day at a Time. She made the time, even while working as a nurse and living with her traditional Cuban mother. 

Morticia Addams (The Addams Family) 

Morticia Addams (portrayed in the 1964 sitcom The Addams Family by Carolyn Jones) was the epitome of unconventional, but was there ever a TV mom who encouraged her children to be themselves more than her? Never bending to the expectations and societal norms of those around her, Morticia was always loyal to and protective of her family, if not a bit macabre. 

Jane Villanueva (Jane the Virgin) 

Talk about life taking you in unexpected directions! Gina Rodriguez’s Jane Villanueva on Jane the Virgin had her own matriarchs to thank for being able to figure things out when she got pregnant by accidental artificial insemination. Such grace in the most unique of situations. 

Claire Dunphy (Modern Family) 

Nobody said you had to have everything together in order to be a good mom. Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen) of Modern Family often struggled with how to approach the myriad hurdles of her blended and extended family, but fans found her relatable, and she deserved a lot more credit than she got. 

Gemma Teller Morrow (Sons of Anarchy) 

The characters in the world of Sons of Anarchy all knew one thing: Don’t mess with Gemma Teller Morrow (Katey Sagal) or her family, including any of the members of SAMCRO. Gemma was willing to kill or die for her son Jax, and boy did she prove it.  

Laurel Park (The Summer I Turned Pretty) 

Often the less-fun mom in comparison to her BFF Susannah, Laurel Park (Jackie Chung) was undoubtedly more responsible of the two in the book-to-screen adaptation of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Even when grief drove her and Susannah’s kids to make some pretty bad decisions, she handled the teens with understanding and grace. 

Skyler White (Breaking Bad) 

Boy did people give Skyler White (Anna Gunn) grief during Breaking Bad’s run on AMC. Sure, she was complicit in some of Walter White’s money laundering, but it’s not like she was left with much of a choice. Always doing what she thought was best for her family, she was fiercely protective of her kids — even when that meant standing up to her husband when he was at his most dangerous. 

Peggy Bundy (Married… With Children) 

Peggy Bundy (Katey Sagal) had a lot of qualities you might not look for in a good TV mom on Married… with Children. She was lazy, obsessed with the television and didn’t exactly set the best example for the kids. She still deserves more credit than she gets, though, because she was unapologetically herself and nurturing in her own way. 

Roseanne Conner (Roseanne) 

Roseanne Conner (Roseanne Barr) wasn’t perfect on her self-titled sitcom, but what family is? Her and Dan’s struggles to make ends meet while still wanting more for their kids was what made her relatable to so many. Her blunt and brutal honesty was what made her so funny.  

Chilli Heeler (Bluey) 

Chilli, better known as “Mum” to the Bluey viewing audience, definitely doesn’t get as much credit in the fun department as Bluey and Bingo’s dad Bandit, but somebody’s got to remember to pack the goggles, towels and sunscreen for a day at the pool, right? Chilli takes care of a lot of the “boring” stuff, which apparently is not just a thing for human moms. 

Harriette Winslow (Family Matters)  

Harriette Winslow (played by Jo Marie Payton until the middle of the final season) may not get brought up in the “Best TV Moms” conversation all that often, but she definitely should. If for no other reason, she kept her patience with Family Matters fan favorite Steve Urkel a lot longer than many would have. 

Linda Belcher (Bob’s Burgers) 

Sometimes when it comes to moms and their eccentric families, it’s hard to understand how they fit in. That’s not the case with Linda Belcher on Bob’s Burgers, who may be the matriarch, but she’s as big a mess as any of them, and I mean that in the best way. Linda is wild and funny while still being incredibly loving and supportive. 

Jean Weir (Freaks and Geeks) 

Helping your children navigate their formative years is not an easy task, and Jean Weir (Becky Ann Baker) on Freaks and Geeks definitely had her work cut out for her with her polar-opposite kiddos Lindsay and Sam. While her efforts were hit-and-miss, she wanted to connect with them so badly, and you just had to appreciate her goofy, sometimes-overbearing personality. 

Rebecca Donaldson Katsopolis (Full House) 

Of course Rebecca Donaldson (aka “Aunt Becky”) would go on to have twins with “Uncle Jesse” Katsopolis, but Lori Loughlin’s character on Full House was earning mom points years before that, as she gave motherly advice to Michelle, Stephanie and especially DJ after their own mom’s passing. The importance of her role to them can’t be overstated. 

Jessica Huang (Fresh Off The Boat) 

Jessica Huang (Constance Wu) may be the queen to her kids’ pawns in the chess game of life, but the high expectations the Fresh Off the Boat matriarch set for her children just showed how much she believed in them. She was firm but devoted, and sometimes we forget those tough moms have just as much love to give. 

Carol Foster-Lambert (Step By Step) 

Anybody who successfully blends families the way the Fosters and Lamberts did on Step by Step deserves some major mom snaps, especially given the spectrum of personalities Carol Foster-Lambert’s children and stepchildren exhibited. There were growing pains, of course, but it couldn’t have worked without the endless love and support of Suzanne Somers’ character. 

Jane Chapman (Big Little Lies) 

Given the trauma that Jane Chapman endured on Big Little Lies, there’s no wondering why she’s slow to trust people, or why she’s so protective of her son Ziggy. Never as perky or interesting or seemingly perfect as the other moms around her, her strength to survive and provide for Ziggy shouldn’t go unheralded. 

Kitty Forman (That ‘70s Show) 

We all know that one mom who unofficially adopts all of her kids’ friends as her own, and on That ‘70s Show, it was Eric and Laurie’s mother Kitty Forman (Debra Jo Rupp). It speaks volumes that everybody always felt at home there, despite her husband Red’s eternally grouchy disposition. She may not get enough credit as a great TV mom, but she’s unrivaled in infectious laughter. 

Carmela Soprano (The Sopranos) 

All moms have a lot on their plates, and let's face it: Parenting is just plain hard. So Edie Falco's Carmela Soprano on The Sopranos probably deserves some extra credit for also being married to a mob boss. Even if she didn't deserve it, I'd give it to her anyway.

Annie Marks (Good Girls) 

Good Girls shows just how far moms will go when they’re desperate to provide for their children. Mae Whitman played young single mother Annie Marks, but despite Annie's dangerous lifestyle, she prioritized her child and was a beacon of support during an emotional coming out story. 

Christy Jolene Plunkett (Mom) 

A special shoutout to the moms who are figuring it out after not having a particularly good role model themselves. This was the case for Christy (Anna Faris) on Mom, who always did her best as she faced her own struggles with sobriety and the complex relationship with her mom Bonnie. 

Amy Sosa (Superstore) 

Amy Sosa’s kids may not have been the central focus of Superstore, but America Ferrera’s character gave a voice to many mothers out there through her storyline about having to return to work after 48 hours because the store didn’t offer maternity leave. 

Cindy Walsh (Beverly Hills, 90210) 

Good role models seemed to be severely lacking on Beverly Hills 90210, so that should have made Cindy Walsh (Carol Potter) stand out more as one of TV’s greatest moms. She kept Brandon and Brenda grounded, while providing support as needed to their friends. Cindy put her own pain aside, only rarely showing that she, too, had struggled with the move from Minnesota to the sunny West Coast. 

Samantha Stephens (Bewitched) 

It can’t be easy being a witch living in a non-magical world, but that’s the reality Elizabeth Montgomery’s Samantha Stephens was faced with on Bewitched. Both of her and Darrin’s children also had the nose-twitching powers, and while it’s debatable whether those abilities were best kept under wraps or not, it’s obvious that Samantha just wanted to keep her husband happy and do what was best for the kids. 

Sam Fox (Better Things) 

Loosely based on Pamela Adlon’s own life as a single mom of three daughters, Better Things’ Sam Fox was the perfect combination of protective but not overbearing. She was willing to lay down the law, but the lines of communication were always open for honest conversations about real — and sometimes tough — issues. 

Nora Walker (Brothers & Sisters) 

Nora Walker (Sally Field) isn't often mentioned in the same sentence as TV mom icons like June Cleaver or Clair Huxtable, but she should be. In the wake of her cheating husband's death, Nora didn't have just her own problems to deal with, but she took on those of her grown children as well. In addition to being graceful, honest and loving through all the ups and downs, Nora knew how to keep the wine flowing too.

This is really just a handful of TV moms who don't get enough credit, because if we're being honest, can we ever really show too much appreciation for the women who doled out life lessons from the television screen? I didn't think so. 

Gilmore Girls was a quirky-yet-popular series when it initially hit the airwaves. It’s lived on thanks to some major streaming runs and also a spinoff series Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life –a program you can still catch with a Netflix subscription. However, while the series has lived on, not everyone is a fan of the show. In fact, a tweet recently went viral absolutely ripping on Lauren Graham's Lorelei and Alexis Bledel's Rory, and I have to to admit it rings true. 

In a tweet that has a whopping 119K+ likes and more than 6,000 retweets, Gilmore Girls watcher Ellie Schnitt revealed exactly why she feels the series is the worst. (Tweet text updated with capitalization.)

A few things:  I am a giant fan of Gilmore Girls and all of its drama, to the point where I do have a favorite of Rory’s boyfriends (despite Amy Sherman-Palladino telling me not to.) However, despite my deep appreciation of the quippy dialogue and the juicy storylines, the show is built around characters who can often be selfish and in moments deeply distressing because they are not making choices that are the healthiest. Life is messy, but I see why some people are not here for the drama, at all.  

While there are a  lot of likes on the post, there were plenty of people offended by the Tweet’s premise. A lot of the responses focused on loving the side characters -- some of whom blew up after Gilmore Girls  wrapped -- and small town feel of Stars Hollow. Others said they liked the dramatic vibe and the tweet ripping on the show just does not get the appeal of the series. A few samples: 

• Flaws and all, I just want to move to Stars Hollow and attend a town meeting, gossip at Luke’s Diner, and dance under twinkly lights in the gazebo at an adorable town festival. Since I can’t really do that, I’ll rewatch the series a million times and pretend.
• I think it’s the town that’s so comforting. I think we all long for a community like that. 
• YES IT IS A CHAOTIC RIDE THAT I ENJOY EVEN IF IT FEELS IM GONNA CRASH EVERY TWO SECONDS.

So the viral tweet's main case is that Lorelei and Rory are constantly making toxic decisions for themselves, but just in case you wondered, Schnitt also says she's not giving Lorelei's parents Richard and Emily a pass. 

Here, here. I think the basic gist of this series is that most of the main characters are complicated. They have major pros and cons that can lead them to make dramatic (and sometimes bad) choices, which is probably how Gilmore Girls managed to make it to a 20+ episode count every season during its network TV run. (A Year in the Life is only four episodes.) 

Lorelei makes dramatic decisions in regards to her relationships, and she's kind of a jerk to her parents, who by the way, help her out majorly through the events of the series. This is particularly true in regards to Rory, whose schooling is paid for by them. And in exchange all they have to do is show up once a week for dinner, which Lorelei also complains about. She's constantly picking fights and pushing people away who are close to her, a fact some others have commented on in the same viral Twitter thread. 

Rory shouldn't get a pass here, either. She's inherited some of her mom's reckless decision-making genes. When it comes to the grandparents, the running joke on the series is that Emily is so finicky she constantly fires her housekeeper and has to replace her. She's also not prone to being open about her emotions, which makes her come off as hard. 

Don't even get me started on Dean, Jess and Logan's issues. I'm just saying the crux of this viral tweet is true. Wholeheartedly so, in fact, but that hasn't deterred me as a fan in the least. I love how complicated the characters are and how they get some moments right and botch others completely. It's endearing, it's enduring and I can't wait to see if there are more stories from Stars Hollow in the future. 

In response to various instances of sexual misconduct in the workplace that have come to light in the past five years, many studios are more regularly hiring intimacy coordinators on the sets of their productions. That includes the set of the Disney+ show Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, which became Lauren Graham’s first time working with an intimacy coordinator. Though in that particular instance with co-star Josh Duhamel, the Gilmore Girls actress wasn’t sure one was necessary. 

Lauren Graham has been a working actress in Hollywood for nearly 30 years, and recalls that for many years, intimacy coordinators just “didn’t exist” and the protocol was someone throwing a bathrobe after the director calls cut. So, Graham was rather tickled when her first time working with one was during more family friendly fare on Mighty Ducks. As she recalled: 

The story comes from Lauren Graham’s new book, Have I Told You This Already? Stories I Don’t Want to Forget to Remember. In the collection of essays from the former Parenthood star, Graham shared her honest thoughts on the situation along with adding to Fox News Digital that she “felt bad” for the coordinator’s presence in the particular instance. She continued: 

During Graham’s interview, she added that she wishes “there was more” to coordinate in that instance and bit her tongue on making a joke to the coordinator. In terms of the role itself within Hollywood, Graham finds it interesting that it took Hollywood so long to realize how “super awkward” getting intimate on camera can be for actors and realize a liaison may make someone feel more comfortable after her own experiences on sets. 

Graham is currently in the second season of Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, which has continued to bring new episodes to Disney+ throughout November, with a new episode becoming available with a Disney+ subscription this Wednesday and the finale releasing on November 30. Graham initially began on the show with Emilio Estevez in Season 1, but since the actor’s departure, Josh Duhamel has filled in.  

Intimacy coordinators come on Hollywood sets to advocate for safety between actors and the production when it comes to intimate moments on set. They are often made available during the preproduction process along with being present on sets as well. Graham’s story shows that some productions are taking the whole thing super seriously, even when it comes to more innocent intimate moments between actors. 

Gilmore Girls has to be one of the most feel-good TV series of all time, right? The quick banter between Lorelai and Rory, the quaintness of Stars Hollow, the passionate Team Dean/Team Jess/Team Logan arguments. Nothing is ever perfect though, and Scott Patterson, who expertly played diner owner Luke Danes for the series’ seven seasons and the Netflix miniseries, got real about feeling objectified during one Season 3 scene that he still feels is “infuriating.”

On his podcast I Am All In, Scott Patterson was discussing the episode “Keg! Max!” which included a scene where Luke was lying on his stomach on the ground helping Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Sookie (Melissa McCarthy, whose career took off after Gilmore Girls) with repairs at their Dragonfly Inn. The women commented on his backside, and even after he told them to knock it off, Lorelai continued to make jokes about and compliment his butt. 

Watching the episode back apparently brought up a lot of suppressed emotion for Patterson, who remembered how uncomfortable he was doing that scene. He recalled: 

Regardless of if it was appropriate for the characters to behave that way (it wasn’t), it was still Scott Patterson’s body, and his butt that was the topic of conversation in a scene he had to do in table reads, then rehearsals and for multiple takes on set. And he pointed out the conversation about his backside continued amongst the cast and crew even after the cameras stopped rolling.

He spoke at length about it on the podcast, admitting that he was so uncomfortable that his character was reduced in that way that he questioned why he was doing the show. Scott Patterson also said he never spoke up about his feelings, which angered him even more. He continued:

It’s true that times have changed — and it’s hard to believe that scene would have happened if the show was made today — but that doesn’t mean it was OK to do it back then either. While he said he’d gotten over it (but then laughed and said that obviously he wasn't over it), he thought that scene not only reduced the character of Luke to a body part, but it reduced Lorelai and Sookie’s characters as well. 

I’m sure that as uncomfortable as that scene was to film, it was no walk in the park to open up about it on the podcast and talk about why being objectified like that bothered Scott Patterson. It’s important to talk about those things, though, so similar situations can be avoided on today’s TV sets.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas, the heartwarming holiday conclusion movie to the cancelled NBC musical dramedy, finally premiered on Roku for everyone to watch. Picking up after the Season 2 finale, the film revealed that Max (Skylar Astin) can now hear heart songs just like girlfriend Zoey (Jane Levy). One would hope that the film was satisfying for fans, though it turns out it was originally going to close with a cameo from a familiar face.

The idea of seeing yet another Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist character is exciting, and such a development would've been a great surprise. EP Austin Winsberg admitted to TVLine that he had planned to bring back Lauren Graham, who portrayed Joan, Zoey’s former SPRQ Point supervisor. He said:

Lauren Graham had to leave the series after the first season due to scheduling conflicts with Disney+’s The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. The character struck a chord with audiences, so it definitely would've been nice if she came back, even if it was for just one scene. During the same interview, the producer also explained why the character's appearance wouldn’t have worked anywhere else in the movie, and his thinking makes sense:

Though the cameo would've been cool, Joan definitely deserves more if she were to make a grand return. Hopefully, if Zoey’s gets another season or additional movies like Austin Winsberg is hoping, fans will get to Lauren Graham's character again. She was definitely a big part of the original show's first season, and it was heartbreaking to learn that she’d be leaving the show.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas was filled with emotions, romance and heart songs. While it did wrap up the series nicely, there's still plenty more to the storyl that can be told. Hopefully, this won’t be the last time we get anything from Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and Lauren Graham and the rest of the cast can come back for more. In the meantime, you can revisit the show by streaming it on Peacock!

It is no question that Seinfeld helped launch some great careers in entertainment. However, I am not necessarily referring to the main Seinfeld cast, but the guest stars who were not so well known at the time, such as a pre-Entourage cast Jeremy Piven. Also, you may remember Bryan Cranston’s recurring role, but may not realize he is not the only Breaking Bad cast member to appear on the sitcom, nor is Courteney Cox the only Friends cast member with a prominent guest role. When Seinfeld hits Netflix on October 1, 2021, see if you can spot any of the following as soon-to-be stars, starting with another groundbreaking comedian.

Sarah Silverman (Emily)

With a short stint on Saturday Night Live and a couple of years on HBO’s Mr. Show with Bob and David, Emmy-winning comedian and actress Sarah Silverman was still an up-and-comer when she appeared on the Seinfeld Season 8 episode, “The Money.” She plays Kramer’s girlfriend, Emily, whom Michael Richards’ character claims is great in bed, but not fun to share a bed with when it comes to getting shut-eye afterward.

Bob Odenkirk (Ben)

Also known for Mr. Show with Bob and David as the “Bob” from the title, Bob Odenkirk, who played a medical student Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) dates in the hope of eventually achieving her dream of dating a doctor in another Seinfeld Season 8 episode, “The Abstinence.” The former Saturday Night Live writer went on to lead a hit action movie called Nobody and, of course, earn Emmy nominations as Saul Goodman on Breaking Bad and the prequel spin-off Better Call Saul.

Anna Gunn (Amy)

Another Breaking Bad alum who appeared on Seinfeld earlier in her career is two-time Emmy winner Anna Gunn (Walter White’s wife, Skyler), who played a girlfriend of Jerry’s whom George (Jason Alexander) is convinced he saw smooching with Jerry’s cousin after losing his glasses in Season 5’s “The Glasses.” I could actually make a whole list of Breaking Bad actors who have appeared on Seinfeld, but let’s move on to another cable drama star for now.

Michael Chiklis (Steve Pocatello)

Michael Chiklis rose to fame as the Emmy-winning lead of FX’s The Shield, as The Thing in two Fantastic Four movies, and as part of the American Horror Story cast in Season 4. Years earlier, he was on Seinfeld Season 3 as a party host who ends up hosting Jerry and Elaine longer than anticipated, after their ride (George) leaves early for a one night stand, and later causes Jerry trouble when he appears at his building unexpected.

Daniel Dae Kim (Student #1)

Another star of a popular TV crime drama is former Hawaii Five-0 cast member Daniel Dae Kim, who is also well known from the Lost cast as Jin-Soo Kwon. On Seinfeld’s final season, Kramer and his friend Mickey (Danny Woodburn) were hired to pretend they had symptoms of certain diseases for medical students to guess, and the actor plays the student who correctly diagnoses Kramer with gonorrhea.

Mariska Hargitay (Melissa)

One of TV’s top crime procedural stars is Law and Order: Special Victims Unit cast member Mariska Hargitay, who has earned several Emmy nominations and one win during her two decades playing Olivia Benson. She probably would have earned some awards recognition for playing a fictionalized version of Elaine on the sitcom-within-a-sitcom, Jerry, if George had not cut off her audition (and if the show hadn’t been cancelled, too) in the Seinfeld Season 4 finale, “The Pilot.”

Jeremy Piven (Michael Barth / TV George)

Also in the Seinfeld Season 4 finale, Michael Barth does an unmistakable imitation of George Costanza when trying out for the role based on Jason Alexander’s character, which he ends up landing. However, you could have mistaken Barth for someone other than Jeremy Piven, who looks nothing like his Emmy-winning Entourage character, Ari Gold, in the episode.

Brad Garrett (Tony Abado)

Another Emmy-winning sitcom star who once guest starred on Seinfeld is Brad Garrett, who made his Season 7 appearance mere months before debuting on Everybody Love Raymond as Robert Barone. He plays a mechanic so overly protective of Jerry’s car that he steals it for himself, unaware that he is carrying a set golf clubs once used by President John F. Kennedy.

Megan Mullally (Betsy)

A winner of two Emmys as Will & Grace’s Karen Walker (and who should have been nominated for playing the ex-wife of her real-life husband, Nick Offerman's, character on Parks and Recreation) is Megan Mullally. One of her earliest sitcom appearances was on a classic Seinfeld Season 4 episode (“The Implant”) as a woman dating George, who accompanies her to the funeral of a loved one where he is accosted for “double-dipping” a chip.

Jennifer Coolidge (Jodi)

Seinfeld also marked the acting debut of Jennifer Coolidge, who later played Stiffler’s Mom in American Pie, Paulette in Legally Blonde, and joined the 2 Broke Girls cast as Sophie Kachinsky. The White Lotus cast member appeared in Season 5 as a masseuse dating Jerry, whom he can’t seem to get to give him a massage. Not to mention, she hates George so much, he starts to become obsessed with her.

Courteney Cox (Meryl)

Jennifer Coolidge has also guest starred on Friends, which, of course, made a star out of Courteney Cox just months after her Seinfeld appearance. She also appeared in Season 5 as a girlfriend of Jerry’s who pretends to be his wife so they can both get a discount at their local dry cleaners.

Debra Jo Rupp (Katie)

You may remember that Debra Jo Rupp had a recurring spot on Friends as Phoebe’s sister-in-law, Alice, before she played Kitty in the That ‘70s Show cast and, even later, had a role on WandaVision. However, she also had a recurring role on Seinfeld, appearing in two episodes as Jerry’s loyal, but extremely incompetent, agent, Katie.

Maggie Wheeler (Cynthia)

Probably the funniest and most memorable recurring role on Friends was Janice, played by Maggie Wheeler, who also had an earlier role on Seinfeld. In Season 3’s “The Fix Up,” Jerry and Elaine crack a scheme to pair the romantically challenged George with Elaine’s romantically fed-up friend Cynthia (Wheeler), which, expectedly, has its ups and downs.

Jon Favreau (Eric The Clown)

Another actor who landed a recurring role on Friends was Jon Favreau, before he became one of the most successful filmmakers working today as the director of Iron Man and the creator of the Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian, to name a few achievements. I bet you had no idea that he was the birthday clown who told George to get over his predilection for Bozo in the Seinfeld Season 5 classic “The Fire.”

Tobin Bell (Ron)

Speaking of clowns, one of the creepiest clowns in horror movies is Billy, the puppet whom Jigsaw often talks through in the Saw movies. I bet you didn’t realize that the man who played Jigsaw, Tobin Bell, appeared on a Seinfeld Season 4 episode (“The Old Man”) as a record store owner who offers Kramer and Newman an unjustly low price for some used vinyl, including a Frank Sinatra album in mint condition.

James Spader (Jason Hanky)

Also known for playing great villains (such as Raymond “Red” Reddington on The Blacklist or the AI enemy of 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron) is James Spader. The three-time Emmy-winner actually channels some of that same signature sinister energy to play Jason Hanky, who refuses to apologize to George for a past insult despite being required to make amends as part of a 12-step program, on a Seinfeld Season 9 episode.

Patton Oswalt (Video Store Clerk)

Also known for playing a Marvel villain (voice of the title character in the animated series M.O.D.O.K.) is Patton Oswalt, a popular comedian even better known for sitcoms like The King of Queens and movies like Ratatouille. One of his very first acting appearances was on Seinfeld as an employee at a video store from which George tries to rent Breakfast at Tiffany’s so he does not have to read the book.

Catherine Keener (Nina West)

A Scream Queen in her own right (mostly for appearing in one of the best horror movies in recent memory, Get Out) is Academy Award nominee Catherine Keener, who also had an early Seinfeld appearance. In Season 3, she plays the painter of Kramer’s iconic portrait and a girlfriend of Jerry’s who toys with his head with a letter she plagiarizes from a Neil Simon movie.

Stephen Tobolowsky (Tor Eckman)

A character whose methods to cure George’s inflamed tonsils remind me of Catherine Keener role in Get Out is Tor Eckman in the Season 2 episode, “The Heart Attack.” The holistic specialist is played to ridiculous perfection on Seinfeld by actor Stephen Tobolowsky, whom many will recognize from Groundhog Day, his recurring role in the Silicon Valley cast, and as Sammy Jankis in Christopher Nolan’s Memento.

Lauren Graham (Valerie)

Another acclaimed star of TV (like from being in the Gilmore Girls cast) and movies (such as Bad Santa) is Lauren Graham, who played the other half of one of Jerry’s most overly complicated romantic relationships on Seinfeld. When Valerie (Graham) puts Jerry on her speed dial, her stepmother (Louan Gideon) is initially furious, until she begins to take a liking to him and wants to put him on her speed dial, which threatens Jerry’s position on Valerie’s list!

I am not even sure if that is the weirdest relationship Jerry has ever been in, nor am I convinced that we have covered all the best Seinfeld characters with this list. However, what I do know is that you may never watch the hit sitcom the same way again, knowing that it was once a big break (or an obscure highlight) for some of your favorite celebrities.

Parenthood stole our hearts in 2010 when we were introduced to the Braverman family — a reinterpretation of the Buckman family from the 1989 Steve Martin movie of the same name. Over the course of six emotion-filled seasons, the Parenthood cast took us on a journey of life experiences across three generations, primarily the four Braverman children — Adam (Peter Krause), Sarah (Lauren Graham), Crosby (Dax Shepard) and Julia (Erika Christensen). With Lauren Graham recently joining the Mighty Ducks: Game Changers cast, what else have the Bravermans been up to since 2015?

Peter Krause (Adam Braverman)

After playing the oldest Braverman brother Adam on Parenthood, Peter Krause went on to star as Benjamin Jones on ABC’s The Catch. He also made a guest appearance on Parenthood sister and real-life partner Lauren Graham’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life as a Park Ranger who adamantly kept Graham’s Lorelai Gilmore from embarking on an ill-advised camping trip. Currently you can find the Six Feet Under alum on the Fox action drama 9-1-1 as fire captain Bobby Nash.

Lauren Graham (Sarah Braverman)

Lauren Graham is in the midst of an epic reboot, starring as Alex Morrow opposite Emilio Estevez’s Gordon Bombay in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Since the end of Parenthood, this Braverman sister has also reprised her career role as Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life and played Zoey’s boss Joan on Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. You can hear Graham voicing the titular character’s mother Oxana on the Disney animated series Vampirina. Graham has also taken her talents off-screen, penning a best-selling novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe, as well as a memoir, Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls. And since real-life love Peter Krause cameoed on the Gilmore Girls revival, could an appearance on Krause’s 9-1-1 be in the cards? Ryan Murphy says they’ve discussed it.

Dax Shepard (Crosby Braverman)

Dax Shepard has stayed busy since his trouble-making days as Crosby Braverman, starring opposite Lake Bell in Bless This Mess and as Luke in The Ranch. He’ll lend his voice to the A-list cast of Paw Patrol: The Movie, which is set for an August release. The former Punk’d jokester has also taken a turn behind the camera, writing, directing and starring in 2017’s CHiPs, a buddy cop movie based on the classic TV series. But of all his projects, Shepard has really seemed to find his niche with his podcast Armchair Expert, which he started in 2018, interviewing wife Kristen Bell as his first guest. Speaking of Bell, the hilarious couple is set to go head-to-head in the new family game show Family Game Fight.

Erika Christensen (Julia Braverman-Graham)

Erika Christensen hasn’t replicated the on-screen success she had prior to playing Julia Braverman-Graham on Parenthood, but she’s still notched some acting credits, playing Betty Beaumontaine on ABC's short-lived 2015 series Wicked City. She has also been seen in TV movies including Hallmark’s Anything for Love and Lifetime’s To Have and to Hold. In 2019 she reunited with Parenthood husband Sam Jaeger in the music video for Bootstraps’ “Whenever You’re Around,” which was directed by Jaeger. Christensen has two major roles coming up, co-starring with Zoe Kravitz in KIMI and joining an ensemble in Cheaper by the Dozen, a reboot of the 2003 comedy that starred Steve Martin (hmm, that sounds familiar).

Craig T. Nelson (Zeek Braverman)

Since serving as the Braverman patriarch, Craig T. Nelson has found some work on the big screen, reprising his role as the voice of Mr. Incredible on Incredibles 2. He played Matthew McConaughey’s father in 2006’s Gold and played Bruce in the naughty comedy Book Club. The former Coach star has recently returned to familiar territory, as he can be seen as Coach Dale Ballard on the Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon. Up next, Craig T. Nelson is teaming up with son Noah Nelson to star in the Cold War spy thriller The Operative.

Bonnie Bedelia (Camille Braverman)

Since her days as Camille Braverman, Bonnie Bedelia has dipped her toes in the heart-warming world of holiday movies, appearing in Christmas on the Coast and A Joyous Christmas. The Die Hard alum also landed a recurring role as Eva Booker, Kiefer Sutherland’s supportive mother-in-law on Season 2 of Designated Survivor.

Monica Potter (Kristina Braverman)

Monica Potter hasn’t done much acting since her days as Kristina Braverman, appearing as a series regular in the 2017 CBS drama Wisdom of the Crowd, playing Alex Hale. Potter was actually seen a lot more in the world of reality television. She and her family were on an episode of Celebrity Family Feud in 2015, followed by an HGTV series called Welcome Back Potter the following year. Her skin care business, Monica Potter Home, was featured on an episode of CNBC’s The Profit in 2017.

Sam Jaeger (Joel Graham)

Sam Jaeger is probably best known these days as Mark Tuello, on The Handmaid’s Tale. After recurring as a representative for the U.S. Government-in-Exile in Seasons 2 and 3, Jaeger is joining the cast as a regular in Season 4. Other notable roles since playing Julia Braverman’s husband include Detective Les Zoeller on Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders in 2017, the widower Tim Powell in CBS’ Tell Me a Story in 2018 and as Robert Stanton in Why Women Kill’s first season.

Joy Bryant (Jasmine Trussell)

Joy Bryant found a number of roles after playing Crosby Braverman’s love interest on Parenthood, including Dr. Erica Kincaid on Rosewood and Tabitha’s mother Lori Foster on the Netflix series Trinkets. She portrayed Eleanor Holmes Norton on Good Girls Revolt, which was inspired by a 1970s discrimination lawsuit. Bryant played public defender and football mom Jayda Crawford in Season 4 of Ballers and most recently was a series regular in For Life, as Marie Wallace, the estranged wife of Aaron Wallace. Off screen, Bryant and her husband David Pope own a clothing line, Basic Terrain, that they started in 2015.

Sarah Ramos (Haddie Braverman)

Sarah Ramos, the oldest of the Braverman grandchildren, had a number of small roles post-Haddie, most notably as series regular Creek Lovell on NBC’s Midnight, Texas. She was also recurring as Audrey on Showtime’s The Affair. In 2017 the former child actor played Meg in the move The Boy Downstairs, starring Zosia Mamet, who herself had a small role on Parenthood. And in 2020 Ramos released an exhibition book, Autograph Hound, that chronicles her childhood obsession of taking photos with celebrities. Up next, Ramos is set to play Cheryl Pistono, the girlfriend of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (coincidentally the inspiration for Jasmine’s son’s name on Parenthood), on HBO’s upcoming series about the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers.

Max Burkholder (Max Braverman)

Since his heart-wrenching portrayal of Max Braverman, who was diagnosed with Autism, Max Burkholder has found the majority of his work in voice acting. He currently voices Oliver Grayson on the Amazon Original animated series Invincible. Burkholder has also done work as numerous characters on episodes of Family Guy and American Dad!

Mae Whitman (Amber Holt)

After portraying Amber for six seasons on Parenthood, Mae Whitman kept the momentum going, starring in The DUFF — which earned her two Teen Choice Award nominations — and opposite Martin Starr in Operator. She has had numerous voice acting jobs, including Dragons: Race to the Edge, DC Super Hero Girls — in which she voiced Batgirl — American Dad!, Young Justice as Wonder Girl and The Owl House as Amity. She is currently the voice of Becky Bot on Apple TV+’s Doug Unplugs and co-stars with Retta and Christina Hendricks on NBC’s Good Girls. Mae Whitman also narrates audiobooks, including The Testaments, the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale.

Miles Heizer (Drew Holt)

Before Miles Heizer was Alex Standall on 13 Reasons Why, he was Sarah’s son and Amber’s little brother on the full run of Parenthood. Since playing moody Drew, Heizer has portrayed Cal on the heart-warming LGBTQ teen romance Love, Simon and played Tommy in the movie Nerve, alongside Emma Roberts and Dave Franco. Heizer has also done some modeling, being featured in campaigns for GAP and Coach.

Savannah Paige Rae (Sydney Graham)

Savannah Paige Rae began acting at the age of 4, and after her six-season role as Joel and Julia’s daughter Sydney, she didn’t do much acting. Her lone post-Parenthood TV role, however, was a memorable one On Grey’s Anatomy Rae played Winnie, who was involved in a car accident prior to the on-screen death of Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd.

Xolo Maridueña (Victor Graham)

Xolo Maridueña was only 11 years old when he played Victor, the adopted son of Joel and Julia, on Parenthood. Since then, he has had a couple of guest spots on shows including the TV series Rush Hour and Twin Peaks, and then began some voice acting, recurring as Lucas on Netflix’s Fast & Furious Spy Racers and as Zaid on Peacock’s Cleopatra in Space. But Mariduena is likely best known for his latest role, Miguel Diaz, on Netflix’s Cobra Kai.

Tyree Brown (Jabbar Trussell)

Tyree Brown’s audition to play Crosby and Jasmine’s son Jabbar was the first TV audition of the 5-year-old’s career. He’s taken small roles since Parenthood ended, appearing in single episodes of Criminal Minds and Black-ish, as well as in the movie One Nation Under God.

Parenthood definitely left a void in the primetime family drama department when its last episode aired six years ago. And even though the series finale gave us an emotional montage of the Braverman family’s future, I’m wondering if it’s too soon to ask for a reboot that follows the next generation into young adulthood. Everything else gets a reboot, right? Braverman fantasies aside, it’s always a treat to see these actors when they pop up on our screens. After almost three decades since the release of Disney’s original, beloved family sports film, The Mighty Ducks still fly together. However, get ready to root for a whole new animal when Emilio Estevez is joined by Lauren Graham to lead a new team of young, misfit hockey players from The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers cast.

The new Disney+ original series (which you should have marked Friday, March 26, on your 2021 TV schedule for) sees Coach Gordon Bombay come out of retirement after an ambitious single mother asks the former hockey player to help her build their own child’s league team after her son is cut from the latest generation of the legendary Mighty Ducks. Just like the original 1992 film, which spawned two sequels and inspired an unrelated animated series about alien/duck hybrids who also play hockey, the bulk of the cast is made up of aspiring athletes with their own fun quirks who are played by some of the brightest young talents today.

While you should not have as much of an issue recognizing Emilio Estevez and Lauren Graham, you may feel like you are on thin ice trying to remember where you have seen the aforementioned new, young talents on the series. Our goal is to help you figure that out by breaking down the career highlights of each of the main players of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers here, starting with one actor whose whereabouts in recent years might have had you especially curious.

Emilio Estevez (Gordon Bombay)

He is one of the defining actors of his generation, known for the cult sci-fi flick Repo Man, the hit ensemble dramedy St. Elmo's Fire, or the John Hughes classic The Breakfast Club to name a few. However, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers sees Emilio Estevez return to acting to play Coach Gordon Bombay after some time out of the public eye, despite most recently writing, directing, and starring in the ironically titled drama The Public just in 2018. Now, that the son of Martin Sheen and older brother of Charlie Sheen (both of whom he has directed and/or co-starred with numerous times) is back in the Mighty Ducks franchise, Estevez appears to be reprising another one of his best-known roles, Billy the Kid, in a recently announced third Young Guns movie.

Lauren Graham (Alex Morrow)

For inspiring Gordon Bombay’s return to coaching, we can thank The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers’ Alex Morrow - the latest of a few single mothers Lauren Graham has played, most famously Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls and more recently on the hit NBC dramedy Parenthood as Sarah Braverman. Even more recently, the Golden Globe nominee played Jane Levy’s boss on Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and has been voicing the mother of the titular vampire child of Disney’s animated series Vampirina since 2017. Graham is also remembered on the big screen as a bartender with a Claus fetish in 2003’s Bad Santa and the 2005 Disney family comedy The Pacifier as Vin Diesel’s love interest and principal to the children his Navy Seal character has been assigned to take care of.

Brady Noon (Evan Morrow)

Playing Lauren Graham’s 12-year-old on-screen son, Evan Morrow, on The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, is Brady Noon. The 15-year-old became a child star to look out for with his star-making turn as the foul-mouthed Thor in the R-rated 2019 comedy Good Boys after previously making his debut on Boardwalk Empire as young Tommy Darmody - a role he shared with his twin brother, Connor, for the first three seasons of the HBO period drama. Noon will co-star with his sibling again in the musical romantic comedy Marry Me, which is led by Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson and currently set for a February 2022 release.

Taegen Burns (Maya)

Before starring as Maya on The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, music had actually been a recurring trend in Taegen Burns' career, having made her acting debut as Paris Jackson in the 2017 Lifetime movie Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland and appearing in I Can Only Imagine, based on the story behind Christian band MercyMe's titular hit song, the following year. That same year, she played a younger version of Odeya Rush's character in the Netflix pageant comedy Dumplin' and scored her first Disney+ series in 2020 with The Right Stuff as as Alan Shepard's daughter, Laura. Burns stars alongside Marvel's Frank Grillo and one-time X-Men star Olivia Munn in the upcoming crime thriller Gateway, which is now in post-production.

Maxwell Simkins (Nick)

The title for MVS ("Most Valuable Scene-stealer") on The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers goes to Maxwell Simkins as Evan Morrow's first teammate, Nick. The 15-year-old's first experience with acting was in director Rob Reiner's 2014 romantic comedy And So It Goes, followed the 2015 ensemble holiday comedy Love the Coopers, and Colin Trevorrow's dark family drama The Book of Henry in 2017. Simkins also had a starring role on the Disney Channel sitcom Bizaardvark and would re-team with his live-action Kim Possible movie co-star Sadie Stanley in another spy movie for children, Netflix's The Sleepover in 2020.

Swayam Bhatia (Sofi Hudson-Batra)

At just 12 years old, Swayam Bhatia has already led a career defined by highly acclaimed, inventive, and thought-provoking projects before starring on The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Her very first gig, in 2015, was the pilot episode of Emmy-winning comedy Master of None as the imaginary daughter of star and creator Aziz Ansari's character Dev before she was cast as Sophie Roy on the satirical family drama Succession for HBO. In 2020, Bhatia joined another ensemble cast of young actors for The Quaran-Teen(s), a nine-episode miniseries profiling life in the era of Covid-19 through the eyes for America's youth.

De’Jon “DJ” Watts (Sam)

Before he was cast as Sam on The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, De’Jon Watts (who also goes by DJ) has also managed to achieve a pretty exciting career early on. He made his theatrical feature film debut in a relatively small appearance (credited as "Hot Dog Kid") in otherwise huge movie called Black Panther in 2018, followed by a role with a name ("Clark") in Eli Roth's family friendly fantasy The House with a Clock in Its Walls the same year. His next cinematic appearance is from an already highly anticipated and long-delayed film: The Many of Saints of Newark, a The Sopranos prequel from a point of view of a young Tony.

Bella Higginbotham (Lauren)

You know, while on the subject of Marvel movie actors, I think that Bella Higginbotham could make a great Squirrel Girl someday, which would easily be her biggest role to date after The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. The 15-year-old has four other credits to her name, beginning with the 2014 Christian film The Good Book and ending, most recently, with the Amazon Prime original family comedy Troop Zero, which is directed by the female duo Bert and Bertie, who will next helm the pilot for Hawkeye - another big Disney+ series in the making. Perhaps they could put in a good word for Higginbotham over at Marvel Studios.

Luke Islam (Koob)

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers is actually the very first and only acting credit so far for Luke Islam, who plays Koob. However, you might recognize the teenager from his participation in Season 14 of NBC's America's Got Talent, on which the then-12-year-old received a standing ovation and a Golden Buzzer from judge Julianne Hough for his performance of "She Used to Be Mine" from the Broadway musical Waitress.

Keifer O’Reilly (Logan)

Out of the entire cast of young cast of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, 13-year-old Canadian Keifer O'Reilly has the most acting experience with 34 credits to his name in only the past seven years, most notably a major character of the pilot for the Arrowverse hit DC's Legends of Tomorrow in 2016. He would later land a recurring role on Apple TV+'s detective drama Home Before Dark and voice the title character of animated films based on the Howard Lovecraft graphic novels.

Dylan Playfair (Coach T)

Another The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers cast member reigning from Canada is Dylan Playfair, who plays the very discouraging current coach of the Mighty Ducks in the new series. It is actually a perfect transition for the 28-year-old actor from his most famous role to date as hockey player Reilly (frequently paired with Andrew Herr as Jonesy) on Letterkenny - one of the most popular comedies to come from the Great White North, which is exclusively available to steam in the States from Hulu. What is really funny is how those are only two examples of the several times Playfair portrayed a hockey player, outside of playing Gaston's son, Gil, in the second and third installments of Disney Channel's Descendants movies franchise.

Outside of the return of Emilio Estevez to The Mighty Ducks franchise and the newcomers in the cast, the biggest source of buzz surrounding The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers is members of the original film series reportedly making a cameo, including Elden Henson, who would go onto star on Netflix's Daredevil series. No word yet on if Kenan Thompson or Joshua Jackson will ever make an appearance, but one can dream.

Although Lauren Graham has been busy with Disney+’s new The Mighty Ducks reboot series and previously NBC’s Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, the Gilmore Girls alum has weighed in on the prospect on working with Amy Sherman-Palladino, who created Gilmore Girls, once again on a different series.

With filming wrapped on the first season of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, and having left Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist for the time being, could Lauren Graham already be getting ready for another TV project? She does already have a connection with one particular series via Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was created by Sherman-Palladino. Graham told TVLine her thoughts on appearing on the Amazon series for a reunion with Sherman-Palladino. Graham explained:

This isn’t the first time Lauren Graham has expressed interest in teaming with the Gilmore Girls creator on the Amazon period-comedy series. In 2018, Amy Sherman-Palladino spoke out about wanting Graham on the series and that Graham wanted to be very specific. Although that was three years ago, it seems as if the sentiments haven’t changed. Even though Graham doesn’t know how she would fit into the series, she does hope that she and Sherman-Palladino will eventually work together soon, no matter what it is. While Graham is staying busy, it could be possible fans will see her team up with Sherman-Palladino once again.

Although it's not yet known when fans can see Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino team up again, fans can still hope since both Graham and Sherman-Palladino have expressed how much they want it to happen. But how would Graham look on Marvelous Mrs. Maisel? And what would her character be? Graham’s worried about not being able to fit in or worried that her character would take fans out of that world, but she also knows that Sherman-Palladino would do what would be done to have her there and not mess anything up. Hopefully it won’t be long until fans see Graham in 1960’s New York.

Everybody get into Flying V formation, because the first trailer for Disney+'s The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers TV show is finally here! Well, okay, I guess the Flying V doesn't make for the most ideal viewing situation, and not everyone is hanging around enough people to account for a full hockey team, so just get however you can see your screen in the best way, and enjoy Gilmore Girls vet Lauren Graham's introduction into the franchise, as well as Emilio Estevez's return as the one and only Gordon Bombay.

The video above is technically a "Date Announcement" trailer from Disney+ – it's coming on Friday, March 26 – so it's not necessarily meant to be jam-packed with major moments for fans to look forward to. And there is admittedly something of a low-stakes vibe draped over the entire thing. But still, it's a new Mighty Ducks TV show! Go Ducks! Or whoever these kids are!

Lauren Graham is the literal and figurative mother figure in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, with her character Alex being the caring and sports-loving parent of Brady Noon's 12-year-old hockey enthusiast Evan. After Evan gets kicked off the Mighty Ducks team, which has become a true powerhouse competitor, he and his mom start up their own team, basically rebooting the concept that started the Ducks in the first place. And who better to mentor this process than Emilio Estevez's Gordon? (One can assume that Alex didn't need to get busted for drunk driving in order to convince her to help her son, as it went for ol' Gordo.)

While I definitely can't wait to see what The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will bring to the table, I can't help but feel like the TV show is going to make fans root against the actual Mighty Ducks, turning them into a bunch of ego-driven douchebags. I mean, I guess from the point of view of a Hawks player, or someone from Team Iceland, the Ducks were the villains. But we're not Hawks or Iceland teammates, dang it!

While the trailer does ramp up the energy as it goes along, and makes it seem obvious enough that the season will set up a final game between the Ducks and the underdogs, the trailer doesn't really give away much else beyond that. We get to see a few characters in action, but there's still a slight element of mystery involved. I'm sure that will go away by the time the full-length trailer is released, but for now, we can still speculate over whether or not Alex and Gordon are heading for a Zamboni-cleared romance.

All can hail Gordon Bombay accordingly when The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers debuts on Disney+ on Friday, March 26. That gives everyone more than enough time to binge through the movie franchise while waiting. Musical lovers everywhere rejoice! Season 2 of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist has returned to NBC. Fans of the witty Gilmore Girls mama Lauren Graham may be disappointed though, as she will not be returning to Season 2 of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist at the capacity as once hoped. Before the season’s premiere, Graham tweeted urging her fans to join her in watching, but that they would only get a little peek of Graham in the first episode. That peek, it would seem, will have to last the whole season.

In an interview with TVLine, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist creator Austin Winsberg admits that Lauren Graham was supposed to have a much bigger part in the second season. What was once looking to be smooth sailing between two sets, became cause for Winsberg to make cuts to Season 2 in the form of Zoey’s boss Joan, played by Graham. Here it is in Winsberg's own words:

Even though both Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist Season 2 and Disney+'s The Mighty Ducks were able to begin production despite the challenges and new protocols of the pandemic, the scheduling changes meant that something had to give for Lauren Graham. So, Joan is pursuing a new job opportunity on Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist that is taking her off-screen.

Television isn't the only part of the entertainment industry dealing with production and release delays, starting with the latest James Bond film, No Time To Die, which was set to come out last April and continuing with more films into 2021.

Emilio Estevez Returns As Coach Gordon Bombay

Coach Bombay is a very critical part of the Mighty Ducks franchise, so it’s no wonder that Disney+ made sure to bring him back for Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.Emilio Estevez and Disney announced in February 2020 that the actor would reprise this role. Estevez’s last major TV appearance was in 2008 on Two and A Half Men.

Estevez seems to be playing a major role in the series, as opposed to just giving fans a cameo appearance. In the original Mighty Ducks, Coach Bombay only coaches the Ducks because he’s sentenced to community service for drunk driving. While working with the team, he develops a strong bond with the kids, especially Charlie Conway (Joshua Jackson).

Lauren Graham And Brady Noon Star In The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers

Though Estevez plays a huge part in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers series, Lauren Graham is slated to star. She plays Alex, the mother of 12-year old Evan (Brady Noon), who is kicked off the Ducks squad, so she creates her own hockey team full of misfits. We don’t know much about Alex and Evan beyond those few details, but she seems to, at least, be a dedicated mom to take on the task of forming her own team.

I suspect Bombay will be a sort-of mentor to her, as she learns how to turn these misfits into winners, or at least just teach them how to play hockey.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers cast also includes Swayam Bhatia, Taegen Burns, Julee Cerda, Bella Higginbotham, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Maxwell Simkins, and De’Jon Watts.

Original Mighty Ducks Writer Steven Brill Will Executive Produce The Disney+ Series

Steven Brill wrote or co-wrote the screenplay for all three Mighty Ducks films, and also had cameos in each production. When Disney made the official announcement about The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, it was revealed that Brill would executive produce the series along with Michael Spiller, Josh Goldsmith, James Griffiths, Jordan Kerner, George F. Heller, and a few other producers. Josh Goldsmith will also be a showrunner, along with Cathy Yuspa, and that duo also co-created the series. Having Brill involved should guarantee that the series keeps some of the spirit of the original franchise.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers Turns The Ducks Into The Bad Guys

Per the show’s description, the Ducks have now become an ultra-competitive hockey team, and cut Evan “unceremoniously.” This seems to imply that the Ducks are kind of becoming like those teams that they used to face off against. It will be interesting to see if the whole team is now one mighty jerk, or if there are still some good eggs in the bunch. I am also curious to see how fierce they've become as hockey competitors.

I also wonder if we’ll discover that the ruthless Mighty Ducks will be coached by a former player? Right now, we have no word on if any other former Mighty Ducks actor will appear in the series, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a character we’ve seen before shows up with some ties to the new Ducks.

Emilio Estevez Will Reportedly Direct Some Of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers Episodes

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers is set to have ten episodes, and The Ronin exclusively revealed that Estevez also plans, reportedly, to direct an episode or two, along with appearing in the series. Estevez has directed several TV shows and movies in the past, including episodes of CSI: NY, Cold Case, The Guardian, Men at Work, and The Public.

The Disney Insider revealed that Anya Adams is also set to direct multiple episodes of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Adams has directed episodes of American Housewife, Speechless, Charmed, Glow, The Good Place, Black-ish, Fresh Off the Boat, and of the recently canceled shows Bless This Mess and Single Parents.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers Filmed In Vancouver

Like the original movies, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will be set in present-day Minnesota. However, the new series is being filmed in Vancouver. Shooting originally began in the spring of 2020, but due to Covid-19 delays, it had to halt production for a while. According to Deadline, filming resumed in September for the Mighty Ducks TV series.

According to The Hollywood North, The Mighty Ducks was originally supposed to restart in August and go until mid-December. But, because it sounds like that timeline is incorrect, the series may still be filming and might not finish until early 2021.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers Teaser Has Been Floating Around

As far as we know, Disney+ has not released an official Mighty Ducks teaser online, but after Disney's Investor Day presentation in December 2020, several accounts posted it to their social media pages. In the teaser, we see some overly-involved parents, Graham’s character Alex, and her son Evan, who's being shamed by the Ducks for not being a better player.

We then see a series of images of the new misfit hockey team. The teaser also shows Bombay and him not wanting to be involved with this new team, but Alex and Evan both trying to get him to help the new team. The teaser seems to have the same heart as the original franchise. It definitely feels like the same Ducks, but more in the style of modern Disney.

Mighty Ducks: Game Changers Premieres In 2021

Disney announced that The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers premieres in 2021, but they didn’t specify the exact date. Since there is already a teaser, and filming should wrap soon, I would assume that it will probably premiere within the first six months of 2021. If I wanted to make an even bolder guess, I would say in the Spring of 2021.

Whenever Mighty Ducks: Game Changers does premiere, I’ll be watching it and screaming, "Quack, quack, quack!" You can get ready for the new series by streaming The Mighty Ducks franchise, which is available on Disney+. Stream it here (1, 2, 3).

There are many shows that have come and gone by now which are fondly remembered either for introducing us to new talents or changing our ideas of what TV can be. But, nestled among shows like The Wire, Breaking Bad, Lost, The Sopranos and other series with deeply dramatic plots, wild weekly twists and frequent deaths, there sits a warmly witty family dramedy called Gilmore Girls. The WB / CW show gave its audience so much over the course of its seven seasons, that it's still remembered (and revisited) fondly, and star Lauren Graham has a sweet message for fans in honor of the series' 20th anniversary.

Those of us who were tuned in when Gilmore Girls first debuted on October 5, 2000, and who were sucked in immediately, likely remember the weekly showings well. This was still a time when, sure, you could record the new episode if you had plans that night, but you were much more likely to build any potential social life around airings of the show, so you wouldn't miss anything, and could talk about it with your friends at work / school the next day. With us all now in the middle of the 20th anniversary of Gilmore Girls, head GG herself, Lorelei Gilmore a.k.a. actress Lauren Graham, took to Twitter to say some very nice words to the fans who helped keep the show on the air through Season 7, and have continued to shout about their love for the show from their own metaphorical gazebos at the center of the town square. Awwww! This was so sweet of Lauren Graham, right? As an honorary Gilmore Girl myself, I do feel like "kindness and devotion" are apt ways to describe the people who make up this particular fandom. I mean, some of us are even willing to give Logan Huntzberger the benefit of the doubt, and that's really saying something when it comes to being kind, because that dude is terrible.

Logan aside, there are lots of things to love about Gilmore Girls. The series, which was created and executive produced by Amy Sherman-Palladino long before her success on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, focused on the mother / daughter team of former teen mom Lorelai and her now-teen daughter Rory, as they lived and loved in the small, fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Fans were treated to weekly doses of wacky small-town folk, supremely fast-paced witty dialogue, lots of romantic entanglements, familial strife, lots of coffee and more scenes of perfectly thin women constantly downing junk food than you could shake a pack of Pop-Tarts at.

The series has been available on Netflix for several years now, and I cannot imagine that most diehard fans haven't taken some time to step back into the world of Gilmore Girls here and there during that time. It's probably fair to say that many of us see the show as one of our comfort viewing options, seeing as how the Gilmores rarely came up against a problem they couldn't work through at all (not to mention how funny and quirky most of the characters were). So, it makes for solid repeat / binge watching when you need something to take your mind off all of your daily struggles.

Honestly, if Lauren Graham's thanks combined with that little clip show in her tweet doesn't make you want to revisit Gilmore Girls right now, I'm going to guess that your TV show-picker is broken, and you should see a doctor immediately before wasting any more time on some lesser series.

It's that time of year again when network execs decide what shows will be renewed and what's getting the axe. For over a month, fans of Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist have been wondering when, and if, NBC would renew the musical dramedy. After being on the bubble for a while, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist was finally renewed for Season 2 and the series' stars have reacted to the news.

Filled with fantastic musical numbers, emotional beats, and an ability to balance heart with humor, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist garnered a lot of passionate fans over the course of its first season. Now that it's been renewed for another season, Gilmore Girls vet Lauren Graham shared her excitement for the news on Twitter. Check out her post below:

Lauren Graham and I are on the same page, as I “love these people so much,” too! At the end of Season 1, Lauren Graham’s Joan was promoted to head of SPRQ Point, the tech company where the titular character works. How that might impact Joan and Zoey’s work relationship and friendship remains to be seen. That said, Season 2 will likely explore all the storylines left hanging at the end of Season 1.

Lauren Graham wasn’t the only one who shared her feelings to social media after the Season 2 renewal announcement. Jane Levy, who plays Zoey Clarke, also posted her reaction following the big news. Levy’s reaction sounds exactly like something Zoey herself would say:

Luke Cage alum John Clarence Stewart also joined in on the social media celebration. The actor, who plays Simon and one of Zoey’s love interests on the show, thanked the fans for watching:

Jane Levy seemed extra happy because she commented on John Clarence Stewart’s tweet with “Yipeeee.” I can’t blame her, since the news of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist renewal is, well, extraordinary and well-deserved.

Finally, Mary Steenburgen, who plays Zoey’s mom Maggie, also reacted to the renewal news, posting the same Season 2 art that some of her other cast members shared. Her happiness regarding the news was conveyed by way of several exclamation points:

Mary Steenburgen also retweeted an excited fan reaction that included a sweet gif of Maggie and Peter Gallagher’s Mitch dancing happily.

Unfortunately, Peter Gallagher probably won’t be in Season 2 of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist because his character died at the end of Season 1, unless he appears in flashbacks. The musical’s sophomore season will likely focus on the grieving process in the wake of his death and how Zoey and her family will move on.

For now, the cast and fans are just very excited that Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is returning for Season 2, as they should be. Season 2 doesn’t yet have a scheduled release date, but stay tuned to CinemaBlend for updates. In the meantime, fans can rewatch Season 1 on Hulu.

The Mighty Ducks television show just took a significant step forward. Disney+ has a TV reboot of the beloved film franchise coming, and it has cast one of its leading players. Hot on the heels of the Turner & Hooch TV show finding its lead in Josh Peck, The Mighty Ducks has found its coach in a female star!

Disney+ has confirmed that Gilmore Girls’ Lauren Graham has joined the cast of The Mighty Ducks in the lead role of Alex. Graham’s Alex is a mom to her 12-year-old son, Evan (Brady Noon). When Evan is cut from the Ducks, his mom springs into action. Yes, you read correctly – the Ducks!

Yes, the Might Ducks cut Evan! Why? The thing is, when viewers catch up with the Mighty Ducks in present-day Minnesota, things have really changed for the team. They are no longer the “scrappy underdogs” that viewers recall. Their success has caused them to turn into a “powerhouse” team. Thus, leaving their underdog roots behind.

Hence, it is the current Mighty Ducks having cut Evan that sets the stage for the story to come. In response to her son getting cut, Lauren Graham’s Alex decides to start a new team! Alex and Evan’s side will welcome “misfits” and act as an alternative to the “win-at-all-costs culture of competitive youth sports.” I say, go, mom!

Not many details are currently availably about Alex's personality traits. However, her willingness to help her son start a hockey team because he was cut speaks to her being a pretty stellar parent. Based on her choices, Alex seems to be a go-getter, who does not let things stand in her way.

Disney+’s The Mighty Ducks will be comprised of 10 episodes, and production is set to begin this February in Vancouver. A precise premiere date has not been set, but it is said to bow “later this year.” The original 1992 movie is not currently streaming on Disney+ to help with the wait. It is slated to join the streamer’s library on July 1, 2020.

As for the TV show, along with starring in it, Lauren Graham will also act as a co-executive producer on The Mighty Ducks, along with James Griffiths, Michael Spiller, George Heller, Brad Petrigala, and Jordan Kerner. Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa will also co-create and serve as the series’ showrunners.

The franchise’s original creator, Steve Brill, will be back as the co-creator and executive producer of The Mighty Ducks reboot. Speaking of the original, fans of the movies will have to keep waiting to see if Emilio Estevez somehow reprises his role as Gordon Bombay.

Gordon Bombay is not mentioned in the press release, so his return is certainly not confirmed. Fans would almost assuredly welcome Emilio Estevez’s return in the role. He was an integral part of all three movies. For now, it is confirmed that Lauren Graham’s Alex will be around. Here is hoping Bombay joins her.

On another note, the Disney+ show is entitled The Mighty Ducks, and the series' description clearly indicates that the Ducks are still around. So, will the show not take its title from Alex’s team? What will Alex and her son’s team be called? That is not where the questions end.

The most ominous question is if Alex’s hockey team will face off against the Ducks and defeat them. I am just speculating here, but perhaps, the first season will see Alex and the team ramping up to beat the Ducks! Talk about a potential twist! The heroic team has turned into the "villainous" one.

As for Lauren Graham’s casting, she is no stranger to playing moms. Look no further than Gilmore Girls and Parenthood! Graham is a terrific actress, and I think she will excel at playing the hockey coach.

Gilmore Girls actress Lauren Graham has a new show lined up and ready to go. The Golden Globe nominee, who also starred in the acclaimed NBC drama Parenthood, took some time away from television last season. Now she’s back and ready to give her all to what could be a new and exciting series called Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.

Lauren Graham has been cast in the role of Joan, Zoey’s manager and, according to TVLine, the actress has signed a “one-year deal” with the series. NBC ordered the pilot back in January before ordering the show to series a few months later in May. Interestingly, Graham is coming in as a recast. She’s replacing Carmen Cusack, who played Joan in the pilot episode prior to her departure from the series.

Graham expressed her excitement for her new role on Twitter, noting,

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist follows the story of Zoey (Jane Levy), who suddenly finds herself able to hear other people’s thoughts, but to the tune of varying songs. Of course, she doesn’t want these powers at the beginning, but quickly realizes they’re not so bad.

As Lauren Graham mentioned in her Twitter post, the show is a musical and approaches its storyline from a unique angle. After all, there have been so many characters who have found themselves being cursed with reading people’s minds and the show seems to give this trope a new and fascinating spin on a familiar plot.

In addition to working alongside Jane Levy, Lauren Graham joins a large cast that includes Skylar Astin, John Clarence Stewart, Andrew Leeds, Alex Newell, Mary Steenburgen, and Peter Gallagher, among a few others. The multi-faceted actress has made television her career, with shows like Gilmore Girls and Parenthood lasting for multiple seasons and drawing in a passionate fanbase who, to this day, still discuss the popular shows.

Earlier this year, famed producer Ryan Murphy, who has given us series such as Glee, Pose and American Horror Story, brought up the possibility of Lauren Graham joining his 9-1-1 series. While the public loves paying attention to celebrity couples, there's a special sort of magic when they're both actors. Will they work together? How do they balance their careers and relationship? Things get especially interesting when it turns out they met on set, like Peter Krause and Lauren Graham. The couple has been together for years, and met playing siblings on NBC's family drama Parenthood. Krause went on to have a quick cameo in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, but fans have been wondering if they might work together in his new Ryan Murphy drama 9-1-1. Murphy himself has just spoken about this possibility, saying:

It looks like the earliest of talks is happening between Ryan Murphy and Lauren Graham about 9-1-1. While the two TV professionals might have been joking at first, it certainly doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.

Ryan Murphy's comments to TV Line is sure to excite all the Parenthood fans out there. Before This Is Us was reducing TV goers to tears every week, Parenthood was breaking hearts with the Braverman family. The series is available on Netflix, so new fans have also been able to binge watch to their heart's desires. Bringing Graham and Krause back on screen together would no doubt serve as a draw for that episode, so it make sense that Murphy would want to get the Gilmore Girls actress involved.

Interestingly enough, 9-1-1 isn't the only TV series that Lauren Graham has recently set her sights on. Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is currently riding high on the success of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and the duo have expressed interest in collaborating on the show's second season. It's unclear if and when Graham might pop up in Maisel, but it would be great to see her take guest roles in both shows' sophomore runs.

Lauren Graham has definitely kept busy in the past few years. Following the release of Netflix's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Graham had a multi episode arc on Curb Your Enthusiasm, while also voicing a role in the animated kids series Vampirina. It's an exciting time for TV writer/director Amy Sherman-Palladino. She made serious waves in 2016 by bringing the entirety of Stars Hollow back for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life with Netflix. She's since inked an impressive deal to develop new shows over at Amazon, and her first venture has been a pretty massive success. The Marvelous Ms. Maisel is already winning awards, as Sherman-Palladino infuses her signature wit and dialogue into the world of standup comedy in the late 1950's. Amazon looks like it has a bonafide hit on its hands with Ms. Maisel, and apparently Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham wants in on the action. Amy Sherman-Palladino recently opened up about Graham's desire to appear in the Amazon series, saying:

It looks like both Amy Sherman-Palladino and Lauren Graham are dying to get the Gilmore Girls star in on the new project. After all, who doesn't want to see Lorelai Gilmore in some fancy period piece costumes?

Overall, Amy Sherman-Palladino's comments at PGA Awards (via THR) are sure to delight the generations of hardcore Gilmore Girls fans. Despite its cancellation back in 2007, the series has remained a pop culture mainstay due to its airing on syndication and Netflix. Lauren Graham is the undisputed star of the series, and she and Sherman-Palladino seem to have a great working relationship. So much so that Graham reportedly has a say in her possible Marvelous Ms. Maisel role.

The Marvelous Ms. Maisel in many ways broke form for Amy Sherman-Palladino, who usually likes to pull from the same ensemble of actors. But rather than being another project starring the likes of Sutton Foster or Kelly Bishop, Ms. Maisel has mostly newcomers to the Sherman-Palladino brand. Of course, there are a few exceptions. Alex Borstein was originally cast as Sookie in Gilmore Girls, but had to give it up due to scheduling conflicts. Instead, she played two other roles throughout the show's original run. Additionally, Midge's best friend Imogen (Bailey De Young) starred in the short lived series Bunheads.

It should be interesting to see what type of role Lauren Graham eventually has in The Marvelous Ms. Maisel. Given her natural charm and comedic abilities, it would certainly be exciting for her to possibly be another female comic. While Jane Lynch's Sophie Lennon showed all the downsides of attempting to be a comedienne in the 1950s, maybe Lauren Graham can play someone a bit more nurturing and positive. We'll just have to wait and see.

Lauren Graham is a familiar face to many when it comes to the small screen thanks to her roles on Gilmore Girls and Parenthood. Now, she's landed a role that will bring her to a new network on a new show. She'll lend her voice to the upcoming animated series Vampirina, which will air on Disney Junior and feature the voices of a number of stars in addition to Graham.

Vampirina follows the story of a young vampire girl by the name of Vampirina, although she understandably goes by "Vee." She and her parents relocate from Transylvania to Pennsylvania to start over. Vee will have to find a way to blend in with her new peers without losing the sense of individuality that makes her who she is. Vee's parents -- who have the positively perfect names of Boris and Oxana Hauntley -- support their daughter while they run the Scare B&B, which is a bed and breakfast for goblins and ghouls visiting the area. Lauren Graham will voice Oxana Hauntley.

James Van Der Beek will play Boris Hauntley, with 12-year-old Isabella Crovetti of Colony voicing Vee for the series. Interestingly, a few side characters have been cast as well. Wanda Sykes will play Vee's loyal but occasionally cranky gargoyle sidekick, Gregoria. Vee's grandparents Nanpire and Grandpop will be played by Patti LuPone and Brian Stokes Mitchell, both of whom are Tony-award winners.

It's no coincidence that Vee happens to have a family of talented singers. Vampira will feature brand new original songs in every single episode, performed by the actual voice cast. Broadway composers Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond of The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes are responsible for the music. Not much is currently known about the songs, although Lauren Graham, James Van Der Beek, and Isabella Crovetti will perform the theme song. I'm hoping that the premiere features at least one showstopper with Vee's grandparents. We can't have the likes of Patti LuPone and Brian Stokes Mitchell on board without showstoppers!

The new show is inspired by the children's book series Vampirina Ballerina, and it has a pretty solid recipe for success. On top of the big names of the voice cast and the Broadway vets as composers, other Disney Junior talent will be hard at work behind the scenes. Chris Nee and Norton Virgien of Doc McStuffins are on board, as well as Nicky Phelan of Octonauts.

Although Disney Junior has not yet announced an exact premiere date for Vampirina, we can expect to see it hit the airwaves at some point this fall. Lauren Graham will be appearing in live action in the not-too-distant future in the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

With nostalgia currently one of the most lucrative trends in television production, it seems like just about everyone is reviving old projects in order to cash in. And perhaps no revival was quite as viral and anticipated as Netflix's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The four 90 minute episodes brought back just about every character from the original series, and allowed the rabid fanbase to catch up with the denizens of Stars Hollow a decade later. But despite the show's massive success, Netflix hasn't made any plans to continue the series, leading some actors to move on to other projects. But Lauren Graham has an idea for how Gilmore Girls should continue: a TV Christmas movie.

Lauren Graham recently spoke to the folks at TV Line ahead of the impending Emmy Nominations. When discussing the future of Gilmore Girls, Graham revealed how she thinks the world can continue to be expanded in the future, saying:

Well, I definitely didn't see that coming. Although Christmas in Stars Hollow sounds like a lovely escape for the Holiday Season.

Following the massive response to Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, it seemed like a second season was very obviously on the way. The revival was praised for recreating the world of the original series, and featured almost every important character that we'd ever been introduced to (even Sookie!). Plus the limited series left off with a giant cliffhanger, as Rory told Lorelai that she's pregnant. And with three potential fathers in the picture, the fandom is eager the situation to resolve, and for us to find out who Rory's baby daddy is.

Alas, no renewal announcement was made in the months following A Year in the Life, leading many to believe that it might never happen. But there are logistical issues that might prevent the series from continuing. Namely, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is currently in bed with Amazon on a new show, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Starring Tony Shalhoub (Monk) and Alex Borstein (Mad TV), the new series was picked up for a two season order, presumably putting Gilmore Girls on hold indefinitely. And now that Alexis Bledel has been promoted to series regular for Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale, it looks like we're not getting any new episodes anytime soon.

But Lauren Graham seems to think that the show will continue down the line, perhaps with TV movies. Graham's suggestion of a Christmas movie would likely work very well, as A Year in the Life was capsulated into the four seasons. Stars Hollow has always gone over the top with their holiday celebrations, so it would be a perfect way to bring back the ensemble cast in an easy and logical way.

It's been a big year for the titular Gilmore Girls. Netflix's miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was a pop culture sensation earlier this year, and the mother/daughter duo has been booking all sorts of side jobs as well. Alexis Bledel is gaining positive critical reception for her role in The Handmaid's Tale, while Lauren Graham is set to appear in the mysterious new season of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. This is a pretty exciting departure for Graham, who had mostly worked in family friendly projects in her long career.

Lauren Graham recently spoke to TV Line about her unnamed role in Curb Your Enthusiasm, and revealed why it was both a challenge and a thrill. It was a welcomed but challenging change after filming A Year in the Life, saying:

Lauren Graham's statement, which comes to us from TV Line, has me extra excited for her upcoming season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Graham gets to whip out her potty mouth, and I'm ready for Lorelai to show off the many swear words we've always hoped she knows.

Aside from the fact that Lauren Graham will finally be able to utter some four letter words, she'll also be able to show off her improvisation skills. While Graham might not be known as a professional comedian, she's done plenty of on-screen improv. While much more structured than Curb Your Enthusiasm, she got to show off improvisational skills with NBC's family drama Parenthood. The dialogue was indeed scripted, but the cast was encouraged to improv and speak over each other, in order to more accurately portray family dynamics and real life conversations.

While the majority of Lauren Graham's career has been family friendly TV appearances, Curb won't actually be the first time she acted in a more adult-oriented project. She famously appeared opposite Billy Bob Thorton in Bad Santa as Sue the bartender. In the movie she drinks, curses, and has has quite a few sex scenes with Thorton's Willie- complete with some ridiculous Santa themed dirty talk. Unfortunately, Graham didn't reprise her role for Bad Santa 2. But considering its poor critical reception, she may have dodged a bullet.

Details regarding Curb Your Enthusiasm's long gesticulating new season are still very minimal, and we don't have any details about what type of role Lauren Graham will play. We'll be sure to update you on the new season as details become public.

With the trend of nostalgia proving ever relevant and lucrative, Netflix and other networks have been reviving projects that previously seemed dead. And one of the most reported and anticipated examples of this from this year has been Netflix's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which returned fans of the dialogue heavy comedy to Stars Hollow. And with the final four words leaving a giant cliffhanger, fans have been wondering if more episodes are in the future. Now it seems much more likely, because Lauren Graham's FOX pilot Linda from HR was not picked up.

This news comes to us from Deadline, which reports that FOX dropped the remainder of its lingering pilots. While Linda from HR and Gilmore Girls aren't necessarily mutually exclusive, it certainly seems like Lauren Graham's schedule will be significantly lighter than if the FOX pilot were ordered to series. Gilmore Girls head honcho Amy Sherman-Palladino used some creative scheduling to allow some of the alums to return for A Year in the Life, but obviously Rory and Lorelai were at the center of the four 90 minute episodes. TV schedules are very taxing, so Lauren Graham possibly leading a network series could have thrown a wrench into the possibility of another season.

Funny enough, it's actually Alexis Bledel who is having a bit of a comeback moment on TV. She's part of the main ensemble of Hulu's dark drama The Handmaid's Tale, which has been getting a ton of positive buzz since its premiere. Many have named her performance a revelation and career best, who seems to be cast perfectly as Ofglen. It's unclear if she'll return for Season 2, but the two streaming services would no doubt be able to work out an acceptable schedule.

Since the day Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life burst onto Netflix, it seemed like more episodes were likely. The four episode format allowed for heavy hitters like Melissa McCarthy to return for a quick scene or two, and the series was insanely popular during its opening weekend. As the cast made its rounds on the press tour, Lauren Graham and company seemed hopeful that A Year in the Life would be returning, particularly when considering the cliffhanger ending.

The final moments of A Year in the Life saw Lorelai and Luke FINALLY get married in the Stars Hollow gazebo. While Lorelai sipped champagne with Rory, her daughter dropped a major bomb on us all. She's pregnant, and it's not clear which of her partners is the baby daddy. While signs point to Logan, Rory also had the boyfriend nobody could remember, and Jess seemed to give her a knowing look in his final scene. Really, anything could happen.

The current mini-era of TV revivals has surprisingly offered up more successes than all-out failures at this point, and while many GIlmore Girls fans found reasons to gripe about the Netflix-housed A Year in the Life, it hasn't stopped everybody from vocalizing desires for the streaming service to order up another batch of episodes. Conversations of that sort are reportedly happening behind closed diner doors, but how would the stars themselves feel about returning once more? Here's Lauren Graham with a less-than-enthusiastic answer.

Setting up her answer like that -- with the enthusiastic promise of wanting to never leave the role under very specific circumstances -- was a good way for Lauren Graham to offer a nice bit of salt and lemon before burning viewers with the tequila shot of disappointment that followed. (I guess I should have made this more about bitter coffee than tequila.) Granted, the actress doesn't straight-up say that she doesn't want to be involved with any more seasons of Gilmore Girls, and it sounds as if she still has the baseline interest to reprise the fast-talking self-made woman for another season outside of a vacuum.

But she's definitely not torn over its chances of not coming back, going so far as to say while there's a way to continue Lorelai and Rory's stories, she doesn't know "if that's the best thing for them." It's a refreshing kind of honesty, even if it's equally damning to fans who want nothing more than to grow older with this TV universe.And as she also pointed out, she only found out about Netflix picking up more Gilmore Girls from news reports the first time around, so we never really know how anything will turn out.

During Sunday's "The Contenders" Emmy panel (via Deadline), Alexis Bledel sounded slightly less pessimistic about her views on playing Rory again, perhaps because her character has a much bigger arc to play out. In her words:

Alexis Bledel's answer quite sensible, as she would dictate her return based on if the story was good enough to warrant such a thing. That should always be the motivation for all TV shows, though it obviously isn't. and one assumes that creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has other interesting directions to take this story that would please both actresses and more. Other actors have expressed interest in returning, and Netflix is clearly interested in making it happen, but it all comes down to the details. Such as Lauren Graham being a part of a new project, as well as Sherman-Palladino's new Amazon comedy, since both of those things could create a scheduling nightmare.

While the future of Stars Hollow and its quirky population is still in question, fans can still watch the entirety of Gilmore Girls' first seven seasons and its A Year in the Life follow-up on Netflix, where everything is available to stream. There are tons of other shows hitting the small screen soon that you can fill your time with, though, and you can find them all with our midseason premiere guide and our summer TV schedule.

Cancellation doesn't necessarily mean that shows are done for good nowadays. The Gilmore Girls crew reunited for a four-part revival in 2016, and fans got to see just what Rory and Lorelai have been up to in the years since the original series went off the air back in 2007. The revival was a huge hit and ended on a crazy cliffhanger, so many viewers have been crossing their fingers for another batch of episodes. Now, however, the odds of more Gilmore Girls aren't too great for one big reason: star Lauren Graham has landed another gig.

Lauren Graham has signed on to star in a brand new comedy pilot for Fox. The project is being called Linda From HR, and will star Graham as Human Resources employee Linda Pugh, who makes one catastrophically bad decision that totally turns her uneventful life upside down. She'll have to find a way to balance her career, her personal life, and a major secret with the potential to change everything if it ever got out. If ordered to series, the show will be a single-camera comedy, according to TVLine, and episodes will run for a half hour.

News of Lauren Graham's new gig has only just broken, so we can't say for sure at this point if Linda From HR definitively rules out more Gilmore Girls. That said, the grueling schedule of a network TV show could very well mean that Graham simply wouldn't have time to work on a Netflix side project. As popular as the Gilmore Girls revival was, it was always billed as a special event, not the first season of a second run of the series. Linda From HR would almost certainly be the priority for Graham if it lands a series order, and a series order could ruin the chances of any more Gilmore Girls in the foreseeable future.

Of course, there is the slim possibility that Netflix could put together another round of revival episodes with Lauren Graham appearing in a reduced capacity. Sure, she's one of the titular girls of Gilmore Girls, but the big cliffhanger from the final episode of the four-part revival was all about Rory. If Netflix could get Alexis Bledel and other main Gilmore Girls actors back on board, there's a chance that the show could return sooner rather than later. I'd call that an incredibly long shot, but stranger things have happened on Netflix.

We'll have to wait and see if we get any confirmation on whether or not Linda From HR rules out another round of Gilmore Girls. There's always the possibility that the new show won't get past the pilot stage and Lauren Graham will be free to explore other projects. Given her proven comedy chops in the funnier moments over the years on Gilmore Girls and Parenthood, I'd say that Linda From HR has pretty good odds of a future on Fox. We don't know much about the pilot other than that it will be directed by Scrubs veteran Marc Buckland and was written by Itai Grunfield and Geoff Barbanell.

It's almost hard to believe, but Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was released just one week ago. Because of the high anticipation, holiday weekend, and overall trend of binge watching, it seems like everybody has already seen all four 90-minute episodes. Then again, the exception to the rule is the cast and crew itself, as they had the luxury of already knowing all the spoiler-y bits. Kelly Bishop recently revealed she'd only seen the first two episodes, and now it appears that Lorelai Gilmore herself, Lauren Graham, hasn't seen any of it.

Lauren Graham recently appeared in a 92nd Street Y talk (via People) where she discussed the various aspects of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. When asked if she'd watched any of the reboot, Graham revealed the following:

As if we needed another reason to love Lauren Graham. Apparently filming Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was such an important emotional and professional experience that watching the finished product might ruin her memories of it.

Lauren Graham's performance in the new Gilmore Girls episodes was definitely something significant. While the audience was emotionally invested in Rory and Emily, it's always been Lorelai's story. In A Year in the Life we saw Lorelai struggle with the various changes in her life. Sookie and Michel wanted to leave The Dragonfly, her father had recently passed, and her relationship with Luke had hit a bit of a rut. But in true Gilmore Girls fashion, everything seemed to work out in the end. Except maybe not for Rory.

In the same talk, Lauren Graham also revealed how emotional the experience of returning to Stars Hollow was. In fact, she had a hard time even reading the script for the finale episode "Fall". She said the following:

And this is why no one else in the world could play Lorelai. Lauren Graham has a deep connection with the single mother, and the show in general.

Revivals, reboots and remakes have been extremely trendy on television in recent years. If a show has a lasting audience, there’s a good chance a network or streaming service is at least interested in pursuing new episodes. Not all of those projects ever make it to fruition, honestly, but there are several lucky former TV shows that are making their way back to the small screen, including the WB’s former series Gilmore Girls, which is coming back for a revival or shortened eighth season, depending on how you’d like to think about it. When Will It Premiere?

Recently the network revealed that Gilmore Girls would be subtitled A Year In The Life. The show will finally hit the schedule on November 25, 2016 at the usual 12:01 a.m. PT. Filming began on the drama way back in early February on the Warner Bros. lot. Netflix has also revealed a plan to produce more than double the originals it currently has in 2016, which is probably why the revival got off of the ground pretty quickly. How Many Episodes Are Fans Getting?

Fans are only getting four brand new episodes of Gilmore Girls, which I know doesn’t sound like the best news ever. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. In fact, each of the four episodes will not be your average network TV episode in length. Instead, they’ll each be 90 minutes long, making them closer to two regular episodes of the original series in length. Each of the four episodes will represent one season in a year. Which means there will be a “Winter”, “Spring”, “Summer” and “Fall” episode, currently listed in that order.

The even better news? The creative team initially wanted to air each of these episodes separately; however, Netflix recently revealed that Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Live would be available for binge-watching. Apparently, the company was worried stagnating the episodes might annoy some viewers who were used to the normal model.

How Did It Come Together?

Some time ago, the interwebs began buzzing that Gilmore Girls could eventually get a revival of sorts. Then, Paleyfest actually got a good chunk of the cast to reunite to talk about fond memories from the time when they were shooting the network TV series. During that panel, showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino said nothing was in the works officially, but other cast members had expressed interest in some sort of onscreen reunion. A few short months later and the rumor mill seemed to indicate Gilmore Girls could come back. Eventually, that led to Netflix’s official Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life announcement. The rest is history.

What Have We Seen So Far?

A full trailer was finally released for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and it certainly harkens back to the original iteration of the show. It also features some interesting cameos and kind-of updates us on everyone's lives. Take a look, below.

Oh, see? It's just awesome and funny and just like the Lorelai and Rory of olden days. I can't wait for this to premiere on November 25. I might just watch it more than once.

The Cast: Lauren Graham’s Lorelei Gilmore

Obviously, there could be no Gilmore Girls without Lorelei Gilmore, played by Lauren Graham. Graham conveniently just ended a run on NBC’s Parenthood last winter. She’s popped up in a few things since then, but her schedule was open enough to allow her to come back for Netflix’s Gilmore Girls.

We currently don’t know much about what to expect from Lorelei during the Gilmore Girls revival, but as the series left things uncertain between herself and Luke, expect that to be addressed. In addition, Lauren Graham has been very open about how emotional returning to the set has been. She even gushed about “The House” being recreated for the drama.

Sidenote: There's almost no chance Paul Anka is around a decade later, right? (Update: In the shocker of the week, Paul Anka will definitely be back.)

The Cast: Alexis Bledel’s Rory Gilmore

Gilmore Girls was always a story about a mother-daughter relationship, and Rory Gilmore is just as key to the drama as Lorelei is. Alexis Bledel is also going to be back for Season 8, and she’ll probably be one of the most-changed characters, considering there is a huge difference between the time when a person is just finishing college and getting her career off of the ground and being in her mid-thirties and hopefully having a few more things figured out.

After Gilmore Girls ended way back in 2007—yes it was that long ago—Alexis Bledel has had some work in the movies and briefly appeared in TV stuff like Mad Men and Motive, but she hasn’t been in a ton of projects, TV or otherwise. In fact, her big TV comeback, Us & Them, was cancelled before it even hit the airwaves. Suffice to say, we’re happy to see her back on the small screen.

Scott Patterson’s Luke

Scott Patterson was one of the original cast members to support a potential comeback for Gilmore Girls, so it’s no shock he will be back for Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life. His character, Luke Danes, was another big key component on the original show and his on-again, off-again romance with Lorelei was one of the reasons people watched. We know that a new version of Luke’s diner has been built already, so presumably, not a lot has changed in Luke’s life over the years. We’ll let you know as soon as we learn anything more.

Team Logan, Team Dean or Team Jess?

As Luke proved, romance was certainly an important part of Gilmore Girls. While Lorelei swapped off between Luke, her ex Christopher, and a slew of other gentleman suitors to keep our attention, over in Rory’s world, she had three main love interests: Dean Forester, Jess Mariano and Logan Huntzberger. Over time, each of these three generally attractive young men showed both pros and cons, and each were ultimately dumped by young Rory so she could go pursue her career. (You go you, girl!)

The thing is, now Rory is nearly 10 years older and 10 years wiser, and we’re just going to go ahead and presume she hasn’t found the love of her life at this juncture. Luckily, we do already know that Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia and Matt Czuchry have all made time to at least cameo in the new episodes, although details are mum about when or for how long they will appear. So pull out your team whoever t-shirts, as it's good news each of the actors will at least be able to show up.

Matt Czuchry’s Logan

Logan was Rory’s serious college boyfriend. An overprivileged and whip-smart playboy, Logan wasn’t really a satisfying boyfriend when the two first started dating, but he could be charming and he was far more dazzling than Rory’s high school beaus. Later in the series, he did seem to buckle down and want to stick it out with Rory, even proposing to her. Unfortunately, it was just as she began to want to spread her wings and fly off into her own career.

In the time since Gilmore Girls ended, Matt Czuchry has had plenty of other work, most notably on CBS’ The Good Wife, where he has been for the past seven seasons. The show is ending this spring, and Czuchry was able to work Gilmore Girls in.

Jared Padalecki’s Dean

Obviously, Dean was Rory’s first real love interest, although not her first sort-of flirtation. Dean was a pretty staunch guy and even refurbished a car for Rory when they were together, but later he scorned her, got married young and then subsequently cheated on his wife with Rory, whom he clearly wasn’t over. Ten years later, I’m assuming he’s back to being a steadier personality, and it was great that Jared Padalecki could find time between shooting Supernatural Season 11 episodes on the CW to pop in.

Milo Ventimiglia’s Jess

Rory dated Jess while she was still in high school, despite the fact her mother disapproved of the match. He was scornful and pretty angry when they were together, thanks to having an unstable home life, but Rory really did seem to bring out the best in him. The two characters even got some closure later in the series when Rory went to visit him at his new publishing job. We haven’t seen him in a while, but a lot of people who love Jess are probably hoping he has continued his path into adulthood with aplomb. We have no idea if he’ll appear in multiple episodes, but we are happy he found time to appear.

Kelly Bishop’s Emily Gilmore

Kelly Bishop was in both Gilmore Girls and Bunheads, but she’s obviously more notable for her character on the former. When last we left Emily Gilmore, she was living happily with her husband, Richard, and things were going okay in her relationship with her daughter and granddaughter. Obviously, with the actor who played Richard, Edward Herrmann, passing away, things are going to be different with Emily when the show picks up. The actress has called her character in A Year In The Life a little “manic” and “desperate to push through” her grief related to her late husband. It sounds a little bit similar to when Richard’s mom, Trix died, and Emily found that letter noting Trix had never wanted Richard to marry her. Only this should be more connected to grief than regret and hurt feelings, and should be all the more raw for it.

On the bright side, this may have a good effect on Lorelei and Emily's relationship. The two have struggled throughout the years to get on the same page, but recently, Lauren Graham mentioned that some "healing would be happening between the two characters.

We can't wait to see how this particular plotline pans out!

Which Other Cast Members Will Be Back?

In addition to Lorelei, Rory, Luke, Dean, Jess, Logan and, of course, matriarch Emily Gilmore, a slew of other fun names have been added to Gilmore Girls Season 8. That includes Sean Gunn, who played Kirk during the show’s original run and who was one of the first actors who was listed as coming back. Keiko Agena, who played Rory’s friend Lane, will also be around for A Year In The Life, as will Yanic Truesdale’s Michel, who worked at the Dragonfly Inn. Liza Weil, who has a gig on How To Get Away With Murder, will also be back. The trailer also revealed that Carole King is going to be involved in the new iteration. Go ahead, get a little excited!

This brings us to Melissa McCarthy, who played Sookie on the original series. The actress broke big after her role on Gilmore Girls ended, and initially was saying that she wasn’t even asked to return for Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, although the creative team for the Netflix series isn’t saying that’s the case. Alls well that ends well, however. The team eventually worked out a way to have her pop onto the set to film a scene, and McCarthy seems stoked to be back for the revival. More recent reports have indicated that McCarthy filmed one substantial, 10-page scene.

We’re obviously presuming some unconfirmed names will still be around Stars Hollow, too, but there are some originals who will not be back. That includes Scott Cohen and Wayne Wilcox, who played romantic interests for both Lorelei and Rory on the original show.

Are There Any New Cast Members?

Yes! I’m sure we’ll see several new faces when the show eventually hits the airwaves. However, there has been one big casting for Gilmore Girls. The first non-original cast member to be signed on to the revival is none other than Sutton Foster, who currently stars in TV Land’s Younger and formerly starred in the other quirky series from Amy Sherman Palladino, Bunheads. There’s no word on how she’ll fit into the Gilmore Girls universe, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we know.

How Will Gilmore Girls Address Edward Herrmann’s Death?

As we noted prior in this article, Edward Herrmann died just after the Christmas holiday in 2014. He was only 71. Obviously, his death was devastating for fans, and instead of trying to recast, Gilmore Girls does have plans to pay tribute to the actor by dealing with his character’s death on the TV series.

A few months ago, we learned the show would address Richard Gilmore’s passing in order to write in a reason for Edward Herrmann’s absence. Early on, the show will be a little bit about mortality and grief, and obviously Emily will be hit the hardest by the loss of her husband.

Where Will Gilmore Girls Season 8 Be Set?

We are definitely heading back to Stars Hollow, Connecticut the fictional location where much of Gilmore Girls was set before Rory went off to Yale. Leaked set photos have revealed locations being built on the Warner Bros. lot, including Miss Patty’s Dance Studio and more!

Where Did Gilmore Girls Leave Off?

When last we saw the Gilmore Girls cast, the town of Stars Hollow was very much up to its usual meetings and the like, planning a going away party for Rory, who had just accepted a job on Barack Obama’s campaign trail after graduating from Yale. Logan had proposed to her, but she had turned him down, deciding to put her career first. Although she ended up losing a valuable internship, she ended up gaining a job, so it all worked out. Lorelei was still in Stars Hollow, running the Dragonfly Inn, although she promised to still see her mother Emily on Fridays for dinner. Although Lorelai’s brief marriage to Christopher did not work out, she seemed to finally be reconciling with Luke during the last episode of the series, and things seemed as if they might work out. Lane had become a mom of twins and got to say goodbye to Rory along with the rest of the town before she left. Everything wrapped up at the end of Season 7, although I wouldn't say neatly, and the Netflix series should have plenty of directions to go in when it does eventually return. It should be a blast.

Do We Know Any Other Juicy Tidbits?

Yes! While the cast and crew have been pretty tight-lipped about where the plot is going during A Year in the Life, new images from the set show that Rory seems to be back in Stars Hollow, possibly for good. There's the awesome photo above, which shows her teaching English literature at Chilton, a fitting position for the young lady if there ever was one. Other new images have shown Luke and Lorelei holding hands and attending town hall meetings together. While some things have changed, others haven't, at all.

Are There Any Other Juicy Tidbits?

Yes, absolutely. Amy Sherman-Palladino has been talking a lot about the revival over the past few months and she recently revealed she was less familiar with Season 7 than you might guess. (She didn't work on that season over at the CW.) Why is this so important for the revival. Well, the show creator says that while she tried to stick with canon, she did make at least one big change that she thinks fans might notice when we watch. Although she's not expressly saying what that change is, we do know to keep our eyes peeled for an Easter egg when Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life hits the schedule.

Pie and coffee, ice cream and cake, chocolate and peanut butter, Pop Tarts and Red Vines...Some things just go together. And, one of those awesome combos will always be Lorelai Gilmore and Luke Danes of Gilmore Girls. It turns out that fans of the show aren't the only ones who think that that romantic pairing works well. The actors who played them, Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson, who are both reprising their roles for the Netflix revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, also agree that the two are meant to be. Let's start by looking at what Graham had to say about the duo.

Lauren Graham is certainly correct that Luke helped bring out Lorelai's flirtatious side. Not that we didn't see plenty of it when she interacted with other eligible men, but there was nothing quite like the connection that was clearly already formed between the two characters when the series began. Their chemistry was obvious from the first time we saw them interact at Luke's Diner. It didn't take long for us to figure out that Luke's gruff exterior could only really be whittled away by Lorelai's lightness, and, in turn, Lorelai was often brought down to Earth by Luke's very grounded nature.

While Luke and Lorelai were already connected on a deep level when the show started, it took quite a while for them to finally make a go of an actual relationship. It wasn't until the Season 4 finale that the two shared their first kiss, which would set the characters off on a, sometimes rocky, but best-for-both-people romance that, we hope, has stood the test of time when we see them again. Still, Lorelai and Luke are very different people, and Scott Patterson, who also spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the couple, thinks it's for the best that the romance was a slow simmering one on the show.

Ah, yes. The will-they-won't-they between Luke and Lorelai survived their many relationships with other people and had finally come out on top by the time the series ended its original run after seven wonderful and drama-filled seasons. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life debuts November 25 on Netflix, so let's all hope that everything remains right in the world and that our favorite couple is still around when the four-part series is over.

Throughout the history of Gilmore Girls, we've seen Lorelei and Emily Gilmore make some breakthroughs as they have both struggled to try and understand the lifestyles they've each chosen and the choices and sacrifices they've each made. However, by the end of the original WB/CW series, Emily and Lorelei were still not 100% on the same page and still dealt with problems in their relationship. However, it looks like Emily and Lorelei's relationship will be changing when Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life hits the schedule. Here's what lead actress Lauren Graham had to say about the revival series:

If you've been keeping tabs on the Gilmore Girls revival, you may already know that Gilmore Girls has plans to address Edward Herrmann's death. The actor passed away back in 2014, and as such, will not be a part of the revival. Since Rory's Grandpa and Lorelei's father was such an important part of the series, it makes sense that the show would at least touch on the character's death, and we've already heard a little bit about how Gilmore Girls plans to bring up that particular plotline. We also know the death in the family will bring up thoughts regarding the main characters' own feelings of mortality.

Now, however, it looks as if Richard's death is going to have a profound affect on the series in other ways. Lauren Graham told TV Line that her relationship with her mother would also be affected by the death of her dad, and it seems like that should mostly be a good thing. Although we should note that Graham clarified things will only change "a little bit," so I think we should also expect some passionate arguments and even a few barbs will be exchanged through the four-episode series. Hopefully, all in all, the two women will end up closer to being on the same page than ever before.

By now, most people realize that TV actors who have regular gigs on popular shows make a lot of money. Really, a LOT of money. As in, these guys make more money for just one episode of TV than a significant number of us regular slobs could make in a whole year. Well, now we might know what streaming service Netflix pays some of its top talent.

A new survey from Variety has estimated the salaries for the top talent in TV right now, and those numbers include the estimated earnings for a number of big names involved in Netflix projects. And, it looks like the streaming service is sparing no expense to make the stars of its original series feel wanted. Take a look at the numbers for some of their top actors, and keep in mind that these are all per episode figures.

Wow, those are some impressive numbers. And, it would be fair to say that some of these paydays are really surprising. The estimates, which have not been confirmed by Netflix or any of the actors on the list, come from a survey that Variety did of various industry professionals who are in the know about what top TV talent gets paid nowadays, including actors, executives, attorneys, agents, managers and others who represent actors. All the numbers are for current seasons of television shows, meaning that, in many cases, the first season shows haven't even hit the streaming service yet, and some of these numbers include backend fees that the stars get paid for things like profit participation for their show. None of these numbers, though, include money earned from side business ventures like licensing, merchandising or spokesperson deals.

Well, the first thing I can say about this list is damn, Netflix was serious about getting Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel back on board for Gilmore Girls. They each netted a very healthy sum for returning to their roles as Lorelai and Rory Gilmore in the rebooted series, and I think many people would be surprised to see that they each probably made more money per episode than Kevin Spacey did in the current season for his critically lauded lead role on House of Cards.

Emma Stone and Jonah Hill are very much current movie stars, so it's no surprise that they each got an estimated $350,000 per episode for their new Netflix show Maniac. But, it might shock some people to know that Drew Barrymore, who hasn't exactly been at the top of her movie making game lately, netted so much more than Naomi Watts for the per episode earning in their respective shows, especially considering that Watts has two Oscar nominations to her name.

The biggest shock here, by far, though, would have to be the realization that Joel Kinnaman, who starred the Netflix show The Killing and was most recently seen in Suicide Squad is making the same as those big movie stars for Altered Carbon. Kinnaman only has one big movie to his name right now, and, even though he was a co-lead on The Killing, he wasn't the main focus of that series, so he's never really had his own show. Apparently, Netflix has some major faith in his ability to help pull in viewers for his new series, or they wouldn't have even considered giving him such a payday.

NBC's Parenthood was never the biggest ratings bringer for the network, but what it didn't have in total viewers it made up for in a loyal audience. The show's ratings rarely wavered during its run and the fan love for Parenthood has lived on in the time since the drama ended. Fans still really like the drama, and because of the meaningful way those fans have interacted with the series, there have been some rumors we could get a revival. One actress is all for a Parenthood making a comeback. Here's what Lauren Graham shared via social media.

Of all of the actors and actresses involved with Parenthood, it's no real surprise that it is Lauren Graham who is out there and gunning for the return of the drama. Lauren Graham has spent much of her time since Parenthood ended championing a Gilmore Girls revival and then working on said revival after Netflix opted to pick up the series and put together four brand new, 90-minute episodes. Lauren Graham has been open about how "emotional" shooting the revival series has been, and since Gilmore Girls is expected to return for A Year In The Life in November, doubtless Lauren Graham is looking around for another TV gig at this point. Why not the return of Parenthood?

Parenthood creator Jason Katims has basically been stating since right after the finale that he would be happy to return to the world of the Bravermans any time. However, this idea gained a bit of traction just a few days ago when Katims did another interview where he reiterated he wants to return to the world of the NBC drama. While another run of the TV series might be impossible, considering Peter Krause is now on The Catch and many other actors from the show have now moved on to new projects, a TV movie or even a one-off special might be just the ticket for Parenthood fans everywhere. Something limited could work really well for the characters on the series.

Nothing is set in stone, yet, but maybe if Lauren Graham continues to fight for it on Twitter, we'll actually get it?

We know you're all excited to see the Netflix revival of Gilmore Girls, but now that filming on that miraculous event has finished it's time to ask the next logical question. Will we get even more Gilmore Girls after this? Star Lauren Graham has an answer for you.

Lorelai Gilmore herself, Lauren Graham, spoke to E! News early this morning after helping to announce the 2016 Emmy nominations, and gave the network an idea of whether or not we can expect to see a Season 9 for the popular show. And, well...maybe? From Graham's comments it's pretty clear that there are no current plans to keep Gilmore Girls going past the four, 90 minute, seasonal movies that will comprise Season 8 of the family dramedy, but it seems like anything is possible. As Graham points out, show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino came up with the idea for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life not that long ago, after the original show had been off the air for several years. Sherman-Palladino apparently used the PBS show Sherlock as inspiration for what the new Gilmore Girls could be, and settled on a type of storytelling that would allow for those four specials, which will each air in the particular season that they are set.

Gilmore Girls lasted from 2000 through 2007, ending its time on air on The CW. The show followed quirky single mom Lorelai Gilmore and her super smart teenage daughter Rory as they lived and loved in the small, fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. I happen to think that "oddball" is a bit strong of a word for the beloved show, but it was indeed something like nothing else on TV. The fast-talking characters spouted rapid-fire dialogue that was often filled with so many pop culture references that repeat viewings of the show almost always reveal info that was completely missed the first time around by the audience. It was funny and sweet without ever being saccharine, and offered up tons of feels before anyone had even thought to use that phrase.

And now, according to Lauren Graham, Gilmore Girls "can just be what it is." So, what exactly is that? It's a cool show that finally got a second chance at life after almost a decade off the air. If all the new episodes we get are from the soon-to-be-released Season 8 on Netflix, then we should count ourselves lucky.

Netflix’s upcoming Gilmore Girls revival has a lot of people excited, but despite all of the bright stuff that should come from bringing the Stars Hollow gang back together, there’s still an underlying tinge of sadness to the whole endeavor. That tinge comes due to the fact that Edward Herrmann sadly passed away a little over a year ago.

As sad as the lack of Richard Gilmore will be for fans, it’s also affected the cast as they have headed to the new set for the first time. Recently, Gilmore Girls lead Lauren Graham explained to TV Line that the experience without Edward Herrmann was super emotional.

The experience of returning to film a program that seems to have meant so much to most of the cast members who were involved would be have to be highly emotional. Then, factor in that one very special and important cast member sadly died before Gilmore Girls could make a comeback and the feelings get even more intense.

Although Edward Herrmann's Richard will be missing from the lineup, a lot of big names from the show's original run are expected to be coming back. Netflix has already gone to the trouble of confirming a slew of cast members for us, including the aforementioned Lauren Graham, but also Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, Sean Gunn, Keiko Agena and Scott Patterson. Obviously, this still leaves plenty of room for other former cast members to make an appearance, which leaves us to wonder: Which of Rory's former flames will pop up? Will Melissa McCarthy find time in her busy schedule to pop up as Sookie St. James, or will Jackson have to grow vegetable without the help of his adorable wife?

A lot of the actors on Gilmore Girls have gone on to successful careers. Melissa McCarthy's a box office wonder. Liza Weil has a nice gig on How To Get Away with Murder. Jared Padalecki has been headlining Supernatural for some time now. Surely, not everyone will be able to come back, but it still should be a reunion to remember. Back when Gilmore Girls was still shooting new episodes, the Amy Sherman- Palladino show was known for featuring tricky and pop culture-oriented dialogue that you might think the actors would trip all over while taping. However, recently Gilmore Girls lead Lauren Graham revealed the real reason the cast had to re-do takes over and over again, and it’s more amusing than tough dialogue. Here’s what she had to say:

There were a lot of background people doing things on the series, especially whenever there were festivals and other town events going on, so I guess it shouldn’t come as a shock that the culprit of the reshoots were often the background people. (Seriously, what if one of the dancers had the wrong footwork or tripped in the above photo? Retake.) In the interview with EW, Lauren Graham talked about what it was like to make Gilmore Girls, which included the fun the cast had on set. She also talks a little bit about the dialogue that was thrown at her and co-star Alexis Bledel, not to mention her parents and the other quirky residents of Stars Hollow, noting that she actually had a lot of fun with the pretty tough monologues and back-and-forth.

A lot of fans miss the “music” in Amy Sherman-Palladino’s writing, so much so that reports were bandied about earlier this year that Gilmore Girls might return for a reunion or special. Unfortunately, the cast only reunited for an ATX Festival panel and not for an actual TV project, which would have been ideal. While nothing is in the works at the moment, Sherman-Palladino and the rest of the former team (sans a few familiar faces) are all interested in coming back for a movie or other Gilmore Girls-related project, so at some point, we’ll maybe see that come to fruition.

In the meantime, we definitely are fine with the cast reminiscing about their time on set. Gilmore Girls may have been off the air for several years now, but fans still have a fondness for the series and can binge whenever we want, thanks to the wonders of Netflix. Stories like the above help to keep the fandom alive, as well. And maybe one day Gilmore Girls lovers will get the onscreen reunion they’ve wanted all along.

Via Entertainment Tonight, the trailer introduces us to Boyd Mitchier (Joel McHale), a man who's reluctant to return home for the holidays with his family, due to the complicated relationship he has with his father Mitch (Robin Williams). As we see in the video, Boyd and Luann (Lauren Graham) have forgotten all of their son's presents at home, resulting in Boyd and Mitch having to make a fast trip to Boyd's house and back before Christmas morning.

"Why are their shotgun pellets in my chicken?"

"Because it's squirrel."

Christmas and a father-son road trip? This has bonding experience written all over it. Plus, we get Lauren Graham returning to the holiday film genre, though we don't anticipate Luann having any interest in the Bad Santa that's seen getting hit by Mitch and Boyd's truck and promptly ordering himself another drink upon awakening.

Of course, watching the trailer is a bit bittersweet, knowing that this is one of the final films in which Robin Williams will appear. A Merry Friggin Christmas was made in spring of last year, and according to Variety, this was the last film he made before his death. The comedian and actor took his own life in August of this year. As tragic as his death and the circumstances surrounding it are, we remember him well for all of the humor, heart and pure talent he brought to his performances.

A Merry Friggin' Christmas is set to arrive in theaters November 7, a bit early for the holiday season, but perhaps it'll pick up some buzz leading into Thanksgiving. Check out the previously released clip from the film after the jump...
