All this to say, I don't think Adam Driver is serious about clapping back at Lena Dunham with his own memoir. I do wonder if he'd sign on for a Girls movie, which Dunham teased while she was doing press for Famesick. His star power has risen quite a bit after some fantastic movies, so who knows if he'd be available amid various jobs.

For those wondering what a Girls movie would look like, Lena Dunham teased what the characters would be up to if she checked in on them in the modern day. Dunham said that Adam would be a cult theater actor living off somewhere in Berlin, and while I couldn't see the real Adam Driver doing anything like that, I totally see it for his character.

Now that Too Much is here, and starring Hacks standout Meg Stalter, I'm seeing the same judgmental comments online, and an inability for some audiences to accept the comedian as a leading actress.

I Think People's Biases Are Showing

Dunham's Girls character Hannah Horvath and Statler's Jessica are both deeply flawed, and have a habit of letting their emotions get the best of them. While I find them endlessly endearing and hilarious, I think that some people's inability to accept these protagonists is part of a larger cultural problem.

Despite how much the culture has moved forward in regards to inclusion, there are still plenty of people out there with an antiquated idea of what they want to see on their screens. Complicated, full-figured women can be the subject of much more criticism as a result, which I think is why people are hating on Too Much just as they did with Dunham's previous comedy series.

As a Girls superfan, I was constantly confronted by naysayers who said that the group of friends was simply too "unlikeable". While they failed to realize their selfishness was exactly what the show was satirizing, I also think that some people just don't know what to do with flawed female characters... especially when they do the "wrong" thing or act out. Just like Hannah, Jessica does plenty of that in Too Much.

While Lena Dunham has talked about Season 2 of Too Much, it's unclear if Netflix is going to renew the new comedy series. At the time of writing this story, the title has managed to trend in the Top 10 TV shows currently on the streaming service. This is definitely a good sign, and I'm hoping that discourse from the naysayers won't drown out the praise.

I don’t think we could have too much of Too Much. The series just hit Netflix’s 2025 TV schedule, and already, I’m wondering if it’ll get picked up for a second season. Thankfully, even though we don’t know if Season 2 is happening, we know it’s being thought about, as Emily Ratajkowski opened up about conversations she’s had with Lena Dunham regarding what could come next.

In Too Much (which you can stream with a Netflix subscription), Emily Ratajkowski plays Jessica’s (Megan Stalter) ex-boyfriend Zev’s (Michael Zegen) new partner, Wendy. She’s part of the inciting incident that ultimately leads to Jess moving to the UK. So, during an interview with Variety, EmRata was asked if she could see her character returning for Season 2, if they get one. In response, the model explained that she’s actually talked to the show’s creator, Lena Dunham, about it, saying:

I also think it’d be fun to return to her! Now, here’s your warning: spoilers for the Season 1 finale of Too Much are ahead!

Since Season 1 ended with Wendy meeting up with Jess in London and clearing the air, I’d personally love to see their relationship develop. They had such a sweet moment together that offered so much closure, and I want to watch them both move forward from that point.

However, outside of loving the idea of Ratajkowski returning as Wendy, this quote is exciting for a holistic reason, too. That’s because the fact that she and Lena Dunham have talked about Season 2 shows that there’s been thought put into how the show will continue past the 2025 TV schedule.

Plus, Will Sharpe, who plays Felix, told Netflix that the show’s overall ending captures the idea of “‘They look happy for now,’ We’ll see.” So, with that in mind, the door is open for Jess and Felix’s romance to flourish (or explode) past that quick proposal and wedding. Because while it felt kind of like happily ever after, it really was only the beginning of their lives together.

That point was made by Dunham too, as she told THR:

So, all around, I want to see how this story continues. I want to see how Jess and Felix deal with all their baggage as a married couple. I'd love to see Wendy and Jess develop a friendship. And ultimately, I just want this beautifully messy show about love to continue.

Now, since Too Much hasn’t been out too long, we don’t know if it’s been renewed or if it’ll end up on 2025’s list of canceled shows. Hopefully, it’s picked up for more, and considering the positive response online and the fact that the team behind the series has talked about continuing, I’m hopeful.

Personally, I could see Too Much being added to the list of Netflix’s most bingeable shows, and if they get to do more, maybe it could turn into one of the best rom-com TV shows. So, here’s hoping they get to continue.

Hannah only really ever had one female hook up during the run of Girls, but is sounds like Dunham thinks her signature character might have settled down with a woman. And the idea of her finally being less obsessed about being famous (or more specifically, being "a voice of a generation") sounds like some serious growth from the writer.

Of course, Hannah is far from the only fan favorite character to make up the cast of Girls. Dunham might have been promoting her new show Too Much (which will be streaming shortly with a Netflix subscription), she was sure to wax poetic about the future of the entire ensemble.

What Dunham Said About The Rest Of The Girls Characters

Girls fans are strong, and have a ton of love for the entire flawed group of friends. That includes Jessa (even though actress Jemima Kirke tried to quit the show), as well as Marnie, Shoshana, and the boys. No she didn't forget about Adam Driver's character Adam. When asked what would be happening in the group's lives, Lena Dunham offered:

Honestly, I'm speechless. All of this is so on brand and hilarious, and I have to wonder how much of this Dunham thought about ahead of time. Given her trademark with and deep understanding of Girls as a show, I wouldn't be surprised if these answers were just coming off the top of my head. Truly I'm obsessed with each and every one of these descriptions.

When we last saw Zosia Mamet's Shoshana she was having an engagement party (and not inviting Hannah). But it souns like she might have already had a divorce or two. Dunham thinks the same of the hopeless romantic (and sometimes jut plain hopeless) Marnie, who was played to perfection by Allison Williams. Jessa once again being off the grid also makes a ton of sense.

The film will almost certainly be available on premium VOD services like Amazon, Vudu, and Apple TV in the weeks following its initial release and then streaming on one of the many platforms somewhere down the road, but we don’t have any specifics on either of those models at this time.

The Treasure Trailer Teases An Emotional Father-Daughter Trip And Self-Discovery

Several months after showing off a Treasure first-look clip showcasing what appears to be an early scene in the dramedy, Bleecker Street released a full-length trailer that further teased an epic and emotional father-daughter journey to Eastern Europe. Though it looks dramatic, as you can see in the video below, it's not without its humorous moments.

The two-and-a-half-minute trailer, which will more than likely be our final look at the film before its June release, also teases a journey of self-discovery for Lena Dunham's character as she sets out to learn not only about her father and family's past and experiences but also her place in that history and how it impacts her life in the present. 

Lena Dunham And Stephen Fry Lead The Treasure Cast

When Treasure is released, its cast will be anchored by the performances of Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry, who play the daughter and father at the center of its story. In the film, Dunham takes on the role of Ruth, an American journalist taking part in an eye-opening and presumably tense trip to East Europe with her father. That’s where Stephen Fry comes into the picture as Edek, Ruth’s father and stubborn Holocaust survivor.

Dunham brings with her a ton of experience in movies and shows that find the balance between comedy and drama, including Girls, This Is 40, Tiny Furniture, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in which she played Manson Family member “Gypsy.” As for Fry, he has been bouncing between comedy and drama (and everything in between) for well over 40 years, with some of his most recognizable projects being Chariots of Fire, V For Vendetta, A Fish Called Wanda, and A Bit of Fry & Laurie, a sketch comedy show he co-created with Hugh Laurie.

Treasure Follows A Music Journalist And Her Father As They Go On A Tour Of His Homeland of Poland

Treasure is both a road trip movie and a father-daughter dramedy, as it follows Ruth, an American music journalist, and her father, Edek, as they fly from New York to Poland sometime after the fall of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s. In a synopsis provided by Bleecker Street, it is revealed that while Ruth is making the trek to make sense of her family’s past, Edek, a Holocaust survivor, has something different in mind. Exactly what that is will be revealed when the movie is released this summer. 

Treasure Is Based On Lily Brett’s Novel, Too Many Men

Treasure is loosely based on Lily Brett’s 1999 novel, Too Many Men, which, according to publisher Penguin Books, won a Commonwealth Writers’ Prize in 2000. The decorated novel, like the upcoming movie inspired by it, follows a New Yorker as she travels to Poland with her father in an attempt to learn more about her family’s past and connection to the Holocaust.

Julia Von Heinz Wrote And Directed Treasure

Julia von Heinz both wrote and directed Treasure, the latest film project for the prolific German filmmaker. Over the years, von Heinz has worked on movies like And Tomorrow the Entire World, Hanna’s Journey, and Nothing Else Matters, her 2007 directorial debut. John Quester, who’s worked extensively with von Heinz in the past, co-wrote the film’s script.

What Is The Treasure Runtime?

One thing people typically want to know before going to a movie is its runtime. In this case, Treasure has a runtime of 112 minutes (1 hour, 52 minutes), which is fairly standard for a film of this variety. With trailers and credits, you're looking to spend a little more than two hours in the theater for this adult coming-of-age drama.

What Is The Treasure Rating?

Treasure will be rated R, according to FilmRatings.com, a rating that was handed down due to language. Judging by the trailer there will be some drinking and heavy topics, but it hasn't been stated if that impacted the rating.

When it comes to those channels that we all need to pay a little extra for – such as Showtime, Starz, etc. – they all seem to produce some of the absolute best shows. But you want to know which channel I think has made stars even bigger? HBO. 

The channel, which stands for 'Home Box Office,' has produced some of the best TV shows of the last twenty or so years, and with that, several actors and actresses have come and gone and left their mark, earning plenty of awards recognition for their work in the shows. Today, we'll be going over 32 of them. 

Emilia Clarke (Game Of Thrones)

Of the Game of Thrones cast, Emilia Clarke probably became one of the most-known actresses in the world after her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen. On the show for the entirety of its eight seasons, Clarke earned plenty of awards recognition and was nominated several times for a Primetime Emmy Award for her role in the show, including her last nomination in the Lead Actress category. 

Jonathan Groff (Looking)

While Jonathan Groff never earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for his role in the LGBTQ+ show Looking, he did win plenty of other awards for his time on the show. Groff is known to be a triple threat with his acting, singing, and dancing talents. He was even a part of the original Hamilton cast, but his starring role in Looking brought on plenty of recognition.

Zendaya (Euphoria)

The Euphoria cast is filled with talent, but let's be honest – Zendaya is the main star we're all looking towards. Nominated several times for the show for a Primetime Emmy, Euphoria has taken this once Disney Channel star and given her the chance to show off her incredible acting skills, one I'm sure she'll continue to do. 

Peter Dinklage (Game Of Thrones)

Peter Dinklage has been around in movies and TV for some time, but everyone recognizes him as Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones, a performance he did for eight show seasons. Out of the entire cast, Dinklage was the one to be nominated for the most Primetime Emmys – and he won four times. 

Lena Dunham (Girls)

Girls lasted for six seasons and gave plenty of stars shining lights, such as Allison Williams, Adam Driver, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and more, but Lena Dunham was certainly the award-winner of the group. The actress, who also created the comedy for HBO, earned several nominations at the Primetime Emmys, the Golden Globes, and more. 

Tony Hale (Veep)

The Veep cast is highly talented, and Tony Hale is just one of many. And his role as Gary Walsh in Veep is undoubtedly one of his best. Among several other awards that he was nominated for this role, he won the Primetime Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series twice before the series ended. 

Bill Hader (Barry)

This show – especially Barry Season 4 – was a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end, and Bill Hader's performance has been hailed as one of the best of the show. Hader has been nominated for several Primetime Emmy Awards, and the show has also been nominated for Outstanding Comedy.  

Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under)

While Michael C. Hall gained a lot of fame for another role he did – the still rewatchable Dexter on Showtime – he gained a lot of fame at first for his role in Six Feet Under, where he played David, one of the brothers who owns a family-funeral home. His role in the show earned him several nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. 

Jeremy Strong (Succession)

Succession’s success is awesome to watch, growing larger and more prominent over the years, and one of the lead actors, Jeremy Strong, has gained a lot of award recognition throughout the series' four seasons. Among Outstanding Writing, Outstanding Drama Series, and more, Strong has also earned nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the Primetime Emmys. 

Lena Headey (Game Of Thrones)

Cersei Lannister is undoubtedly one of the most-hated villains of Game of Thrones, but I don't think anyone could hate Lena Headey's performance. Throughout the series, the actress earned several nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, among several other awards at the Golden Globes, the Poppy Awards, and more. 

Anthony Carrigan (Barry)

I don't know where it came from, but NoHo Hank became my favorite character in Barry, and I think it's because of Anthony Carrigan's portrayal of him. While Carrigan's character didn't get as much hype at the beginning of Barry, the actor has earned several awards for his role in the show, including Primetime Emmy nominations. 

Diana Rigg (Game Of Thrones)

Olenna Tyrell had to be the best player in Game of Thrones, and I'm pretty sure we all were heartbroken when Diana Rigg passed away. The actress earned several nominations for her role in the show, including Primetime Emmys for her guest appearances. Who could ever forget Olenna? 

Brian Cox (Succession)

I don't think anyone could forget Brian Cox as the patriarch of the Roy family in Succession, Logan Roy, the leading man we were all following for years on end. And, of course, Cox earned plenty of praise for his portrayal in the show, including several Primetime Emmy nominations and wins. 

Sydney Sweeney (The White Lotus And Euphoria)

Sydney Sweeney is an exceptional case on this list, as two of her shows on HBO have earned her nominations. She was a part of The White Lotus Season 1 cast, which earned her a Primetime Emmy nod, and for the second season of Euphoria, she also earned a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress. Both of which were certainly deserved. 

Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep)

As the lead of Veep, I don't think we could get through a list like this without mentioning Julia Louis-Dreyfus and her role as Selina Meyer. The series, which ran from 2012 - 2019, was a massive success for her and earned the actress several nominations and wins for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy and the series for Outstanding Comedy Series at the Primetime Emmys. 

James Gandolfini (The Sopranos)

We can only have an HBO list by mentioning James Gandolfini from The Sopranos. As the patriarch of the Soprano family, Tony, James Gandolfini won several awards over the series, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmys three times. The show itself also won Outstanding Drama Series several times. 

Evan Peters (Mare Of Easttown)

Mare of Easttown was a limited series on HBO, and the entirety of the cast was incredibly impressive. Evan Peters has gained fame over the last decade for his roles in movies like X-Men and the anthology series American Horror Story, but his role as Detective Colin Zabel has been hailed as one of his best. His portrayal earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, among other awards. 

Henry Winkler (Barry)

Henry Winkler is a TV legend from Happy Days, but his role in Barry is one of my favorites. And the people who award these actors agreed too, as Winkler earned several awards for his character, Gene Cousineau, including Primetime Emmy wins. 

Kate Winslet (Mare Of Easttown)

Kate Winslet was the star of Mare of Easttown, a limited series on HBO, and out of everyone on the cast, she won the most awards for her time on the show. Some of her accomplishments include Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the Primetime Emmys, TV Film of Miniseries Lead Actress of the Year for the Gold Derby Awards, Best Television Movie or Miniseries Actress for the Critics Choice Awards, and more. 

Edie Falco (The Sopranos)

For the six seasons of the American crime series The Sopranos, my favorite out of the entire cast was Edie Falco. Carmela was possibly the best TV wife out there and was the only person who would keep up with Tony's mess. Falco's portrayal of her went down in history. The actress was nominated for (and won) several Primetime Emmy Awards, Golden Globes, and more. 

Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos)

Michael Imperioli played Christopher Moltisanti, the protégé of Tony in The Sopranos and someone who seemed to get some of the best storylines in the show. During his time on the series, Imperioli was nominated for his role in several awards, such as  Emmys, Golden Globes, Prism Awards, and more. 

Jake Lacy (The White Lotus Season 1)

The White Lotus cast for Season 1 had some impressive talent, but everyone seriously loved to hate Jake Lacy's character, Shane Patton. But everyone also loves his performance — which earned the actor several nominations across awards shows, including a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. 

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game Of Thrones)

Game of Thrones created several big names for Hollywood, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is another that we saw plenty of in the awards sphere. His character of Jamie Lannister is often credited as having one of the best character arcs in television and earned several award nominations, including the Primetime Emmys. Game of Thrones itself won Outstanding Drama Series several times. 

Sarah Snook (Succession)

The entire Succession cast is filled with talent, but one of my favorites has always been Sarah Snook, who played Shiv in the popular HBO series. Portraying the character for all four seasons, Snook has been nominated for several awards, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. 

Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus, Season 1)

Daddario has been in the industry for some time, but her role in The White Lotus Season 1 is considered one of her best. The anthology series gave the actress the chance to shine as Rachel, and she was nominated for several awards, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the Primetime Emmys.  

Matthew McConaughey (True Detective, Season 1)

True Detective is an anthology series from HBO, and many lovers of the show agree that Season 1 had one of the best storylines, led by a captivating performance from Matthew McConaughey. The Academy Award-winning actor earned several awards for his lead performance in the first season, including a Crime Thriller Award, a Critics' Choice Award, a Primetime Emmy nomination, a Golden Globe nomination, and more. 

Issa Rae (Insecure)

Insecure is a comedy-drama from HBO, featuring co-creator Issa Rae in the show's lead role. The series was extremely well-received, and Rae was nominated for several awards, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the Primetime Emmys and Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes. 

Kit Harrington (Game Of Thrones)

Jon Snow is probably the most known character from Game of Thrones aside from Daenerys and Tyrion – which is not surprising considering the character is getting his own Game of Thrones spinoff series. The actor behind him, Kit Harrington, was nominated for several awards during his time on the show, including the Primetime Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama for the show's final season. 

Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus, Seasons 1 And 2)

While The White Lotus is an anthology series, Jennifer Coolidge was a part of the main cast for the first two seasons (and only the first two). And her time on the show as Tanya was exceptionally well-received and loved. Among many other awards, Coolidge won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series of Movies. 

Anthony Hopkins (Westworld)

Anthony Hopkins is one of the most critically acclaimed actors of our time, and of course, he has been praised for his TV performances. This time around, it's Westworld, where he earned several nominations from the Primetime Emmys, Golden Globes, and more. The series was also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the Primetime Emmys. 

Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus Season 1)

Murray Bartlett was a part of The White Lotus Season 1 and he was honestly one of the show's funniest characters. For his performance as Armond, Bartlett earned several nominations. The show was also nominated for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series for Season 1.

Jeffrey Wright (Westworld)

Jeffrey Wright is a great actor who has been in various movies and TV shows, but one of his most critically acclaimed roles was portraying Bernard Lowe in Westworld, a series he starred in for some time. Wright earned several nominations, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. 

There are so many amazing actors and actresses who have gone on to do incredible things. And truthfully, this makes me want to see all these shows again to see their talent. Is anyone up for a Game of Thrones rewatch?

Actress and filmmaker Lena Dunham is an accomplished multi hyphenate who is known for wearing multiple hats on her various projects. She's perhaps best known for creating, starring, directing, and writing HBO's Girls, which is one of my favorite shows of all time. I love binge-watching Girls, which is why Dunham's new Netflix series sounds like a perfect fit.

While Girls is available to re-watch with a Max subscription, Lena Dunham is starting a working relationship with another streaming service: Netflix. It was recently announced that she's got a new show coming titled Too Much, starring Megan Stalter and White Lotus star Will Sharpe. And since Netflix releases full seasons in its entirety,  I'll be able to continue by penchant for Dunham binging with the upcoming Netflix series. 

The description of Too Much also sounds akin to many of the concepts behind Girls, which also has me hyped. We'll follow a messy protagonist Jessica, who tries to start a life in London after filling New York City with bonkers stories and less-than-stellar memories. Smart money says we'll get to see lots of Jessica acting poorly, like a regular member of the Girls cast. Lena Dunham offered a statement with the announcement of the forthcoming show, which reads: 

Aside from being able to binge Girls right into Too Much, I'm also excited about the latter series because of its pair of leading actors. While Will Sharpe destroyed on Season 2 of The White Lotus, Megan Stalter might be one of the funniest people of all time. She's a serious scene stealer in HBO's Hacks, but I fell in love with her hilarious videos on social media, which went viral at the height of the pandemic. After seeing her in both Hack and most recently Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain (which is available with a Peacock subscription), it's about time that she got to lead her very own project. 

It certainly sounds like Too Much is going to be right up my alley, especially as a hardcore fan of Girls. I'm curious to see if Lena Dunham ends up having a role in the series as well. She's had a number of high profile acting gigs since Girls, including a role in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and a brief but memorable appearance on American Horror Story. We'll just have to wait and see what she's got up her sleeve for the upcoming series, which seems utterly bingeable.

Hollywood has found box-office magic with an unexpected muse: Barbie. This fresh spark is evidenced by the tremendous triumph of the Barbie movie. Taking a successful detour away from the toy aisles, the film took the box office by storm and has since been hailed as the biggest hit of 2023 so far. As moviegoers and critics alike now revel in the endearing afterglow of this charming cinematic adventure, Hollywood and social media are already abuzz about the next toy-to-big-screen adaptation of a beloved Mattel toy line. That’s right, Mattel just announced a Polly Pocket movie, and following the announcement, moviegoers have all the jokes. 

If the '90s were your childhood, you'd likely remember the delight of engaging with Polly Pocket toys or their male-focused counterpart, Mighty Max. These petite playsets housed tiny figurines perfectly sized to fit into your palm, delivering heaps of joy. Variety reported that Mattel Films is keen on transforming this beloved toy line into a cinematic treasure. A movie adaptation of Polly Pocket, with Lily Collins cast as the tiny doll, is currently in the works at MGM, with Lena Dunham of "Girls" fame serving as the writer and director. As soon as the news of Polly making her silver screen debut was announced, Twitter exploded with some hilarious reactions.

Twitter user @MikeBeauvais shared a perfectly fitting meme from the hit show 30 Rock. This post showcases an imagined humorous exchange between Tina Fey's character, Liz Lemon, and her superior, Alec Baldwin's Jack Donaghy, as they speculate about the intriguing prospects of future Mattel-inspired movies. The user made up a funny conversation between the two about the upcoming movie, posting: 

Another Twitter user, @MrDrewLandry, continued with the Barbenheimer trend, which even Quentin Tarantino got caught up in, posting an image of Cillian Murphy's titular character after he realized the horrifying effects of his actions. This person used the image to show how they think Barbie director Greta Gerwig is coming to grips with the potential expansion of the Mattel cinematic universe. Frankly, this particular meme does tickle my dark sense of humor, as the user wrote:

Basking in the wave of nostalgia, though with a slight hiccup, @ChloeAL10 took to Twitter to express their mixed feelings about the announcement. It seems they're thrilled about the idea of a Pocket movie but less enthusiastic about the involvement of the creator of Girls. Do your sentiments align with the image below? 

Meanwhile, @charleyonhere’s joke literally made me laugh out loud, but admittedly, it's a bit of a deep cut. For those not quite up to speed with Dunham's portfolio, she first garnered attention with her independent breakthrough film, Tiny Furniture. Here's hoping the meme below is still funny, even with the explanation. 

In 2018, amid a turbulent period marked by falling toy sales, Mattel initiated a leadership reshuffle, welcoming new CEO Ynon Kreiz. In addition to Polly Pocket, other major film projects in the pipeline include a Barney movie produced by Daniel Kaluuya and a “gritty and grounded” take on Hot Wheels, produced by J.J. Abrams.

No matter where you stand on Matell’s Polly Pocket movie announcement, one thing is for sure: they mean business when it comes to turning toy-based properties into cinematic gold. With Barbie's astounding box office victory, the other projects might just silence the jokes once they hit the big screen.

Lena Dunham made her big career breakthrough in 2010 starring in, directing and writing her semi-autobiographical movie Tiny Furniture. But many years before that, she auditioned for the final film Penny Marshall directed called Riding in Cars with Boys. However, Dunham had a memorable experience where Marshall called her out during the audition, and looking back, she totally agrees with the filmmaker.

Sometimes brutal honesty is best to come from the director compared to the actor who's auditioning. On a recent episode of SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show, Lena Dunham spoke about her failed audition for 2001's Riding in Cars with Boys and how the film’s director, Penny Marshall, called her out in the most honest way. As Dunham recalled:

The Big director definitely had a point about that. But Lena Dunham certainly isn't the only actress to have an epic audition fail. Jake Gyllenhaal failed his audition as Frodo in The Lord of the Rings by not delivering his lines in a British accent as was expected. Fifty Shades of Grey actor Jamie Dornan literally threw up during his audition for Rock of Ages, thinking whiskey would be the key to singing “Waiting for a Girl Like You.” No doubt these audition stories were frustrating in the moment for the actors, but swinging and a missing in the acting world can also provide good learning experiences, as well as funny stories, depending on your sense of humor at the moment.

While Penny Marshall’s comment to the up-and-coming New Yorker actress may have stung at the time, luckily Lena Dunham has no hard feelings for the Awakenings director as she realized there was truth to her criticism. She explained:

Lena Dunham could definitely relate to Penny Marshall as she got older, having created a number of short films and web series during her Oberlin College years. She eventually scored her own HBO series Girls, which won two Golden Globes and received several Emmy nominations. So even if Riding in Cars with Boys wasn’t this comedic star’s film acting debut, it proved she didn’t need that movie to get her where she is right now. It also didn’t stop her from watching Marshall’s A League of Their Own on repeat multiple times. She even told The Jess Cagle Show that she would rent that movie so many times at Blockbuster that the tape actually broke! Now that’s a dedicated Marshall fan.

If there’s anything that we can learn from the 36-year-old’s experiences with early auditions, it's that a director’s criticism is (usually) not intended to put you down. It’s about taking that piece of criticism and using it to better yourself for future auditions. Lena Dunham continues to bring new work to audiences as she directed, wrote, co-produced and acted in her newest film Sharp Stick, which dealt with the themes of infertility. Jon Bernthal has had a long and successful career, and he’s perhaps most notable for playing on screen badasses in projects like The Punisher and The Walking Dead. One of his most recent credits is a departure: Lena Dunham’s new dramedy Sharp Stick. And the Girls filmmaker explained to CinemaBlend how Bernthal contributed as both an actor and producer.

Sharp Stick follows the story of a 26 year-old babysitter Sarah Jo (Kristine Froseth), who begins an affair with her married employer Josh, played by Jon Bernthal. The King Richard contributed to Lena Dunham’s vision for the project as both a producer and a scene partner, as she played his onscreen wife Heather. I had the privilege of speaking with Dunham ahead of the movie’s release, where she spoke to her collaboration with Bernthal. As she shared,

Sounds like a dream team. Because while Lena Dunham was still very much at the head of the ship as Sharp Stick’s director/writer and cast member, she had Jon Bernthal to offer notes and to be a sounding board. And she clearly never felt that he was standing her way; it sounds like this might be the start of an epic professional relationship. He wouldn’t be Dunham’s first famous collaborator: Taylor Swift also got to offer her perspective on Sharp Stick.

Jon Bernthal’s Sharp Stick character Josh is unlike so many of the 45 year-old actor’s most iconic characters. His wife Heather seems to hold all of the power in their relationship, and he’s overall a goofy and lighthearted figure in the film. Later in our same conversation, Lena Dunham addressed this more buoyed side of Bernthal that appeared in her latest release, telling me:

The dynamics of power and status are definitely what makes this affair plot line such an interesting one throughout Sharp Stick’s 85-minute runtime. Eventually it all boils over (as so many affairs are wont to do) when Lena Dunham’s character Heather goes into labor. The truth all comes out in the explosive scene, where Jon Bernthal breaks down into hysterics when asking forgiveness. But Dunham revealed that emotional reaction wasn’t actually in screenplay, saying:

This sequence is cringe-worthy, hilarious, and emotional in a way that is signature Lena Dunham. And it sounds like it was truly elevated by Jon Bernthal’s expected interpretation of the material. From his performance to working as a producer, it seems like he was an excellent collaborator for Dunham to work with on her directorial return to feature films.

Sharp Stick is in theaters now, and Lena Dunham’s next movie Catherine Called Birdy is expected to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Lena Dunham is an award winning filmmaker and actress who became a household name thanks to her work on HBO Max’s Girls. In the years since its 2017 finale, she’s worked on a variety of other TV/film projects like HBO's Generation. She's also been working behind and in front of the camera, including a role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Dunham's about to release her new dramedy film Sharp Stick, which will arrive in theaters this weekend. And the multihyphenate spoke to CinemaBlend about portraying infertility on screen.

Sharp Stick was written and directed by Lena Dunham (with some help by Taylor Swift), and she also plays a supporting role in the film. The movie focuses on Kristine Froseth’s character Sarah Jo, who is a 26 year-old babysitter that underwent a hysterectomy as a teenager. The audience gets to hear her unique story when Sarah Jo has a long, rambling monologue about her intense medical past opposite Jon Bernthal’s latest unexpected character. I had the privilege of speaking with Dunham and Froseth about their work on Sharp Stick, where they cued me into the crafting of that particular sequence. The movie’s lead actress described what it was like sharing her character’s medical history and the fallout that comes after, saying:

Lena Dunham is certainly a writer with a very specific voice, as seen in the myriad quotable lines throughout Girls’ run on TV. As Kristine Froseth points out, that was also the case in the Sharp Stick monologue where Sarah Jo discloses her hysterectomy. It’s a powerful moment for the audiences and characters alike, as that’s the catalyst for the character’s affair with Josh.

In our same conversation, Lena Dunham also revealed how she crafted the scene where the history behind Sarah Jo’s infertility was revealed. It’s a sequence that has a ton of layers, aside from it being groundbreaking in regards to visibility and onscreen representation. It was also a technical challenge, as Dunham shared:

While Mary Jo’s infertility isn’t the main plot point of Sharp Stick, it’s an important aspect of her backstory that informs the protagonist’s motivation throughout the film’s 86-minute runtime. As such, Lena Dunham had this on her mind when writing other scenes throughout the movie. That includes a long sequence featuring the great Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Jennifer Jason Leigh plays Mary Jo’s mother in Sharp Stick, and she (unsurprisingly) gives a stellar performance. One particularly great scene has Leigh revealing the “origin story” behind her two daughters. Lena Dunham explained how and why this scene was crafted, and the ways its connected to Mary Jo’s medical history. As she told me,

She’s not wrong. Jennifer Jason Leigh is a legendary actress who has worked with the greats over the years. Therefore Lena Dunham was able to write and direct a long monologue for the actress, knowing she’d be able to keep the attention of the audience. And as such, the heart of the story could be further explored in a less obvious way.

It’s likely been some time since you’ve heard the name Lena Dunham. The actress, writer, producer and director has been busy doing things here and there, such as HBO Max’s genera+ion. But since the end of Girls, we’ve yet to really see her at the forefront of a project. During the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, Dunham premiered her first film in over a decade, Sharp Stick, and interestingly enough, Taylor Swift is given a special thank you at the end of the film. 

Sharp Stick is a coming-of-age comedy starring Jon Bernthal, Taylour Paige and Jennifer Jason Leigh about a 26-year-old woman’s sexual awakening. The movie, which premiered this week, gives a shoutout to Taylor Swift and her partner Joe Alywn in the credits. Here's why, according to Lena Dunham: 

While speaking with IMDB, Lena Dunham revealed that she actually showed Taylor Swift and her actor boyfriend an early cut of the film, and they offered her some helpful feedback. It’s no secret that Swift and Dunham have been friends, with the two having been close since 2015. They likely met through producer Jack Antonoff, who co-wrote and produced Taylor Swift’s records starting with 2014’s 1989 and continuing with Reputation, Lover and her quarantine albums folklore and evermore. He memorably was a big part of her Disney+ concert film. 

Jack Antonoff and Lena Dunham were once an item between 2012 and 2018. Although the pair separated, Swift has remained close to them both, continuing her working relationship with Antonoff and reportedly being a bridesmaid at Dunham’s 2021 wedding to musician Luis Felber. Swift is apparently supporting Dunham through her most recent film, and the singer’s boyfriend and recent collaborator, Joe Alywn, is even acting in one of Dunham’s other upcoming projects. 

Lena Dunham got her start making shorts before directing two early films Creative Nonfiction and Tiny Furniture. Her work has been known to be very personal and push boundaries, even recently inspiring Pete Davidson to do so for The King of Staten Island. Prior to making Sharp Stick, Lena Dunham had a role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

While HBO Max’s genera+ion has yet to premiere, the show is already making headlines due to a very disturbing rumor that turned out to be true. The show’s executive producer, Lena Dunham, recently spoke out about the allegations that there was a scene that used dead cats for a high school biology dissection after HBO Max cut the scene from the upcoming teen drama.

Rumors of the show’s decision to use real dead cats spread on Twitter last week after a user wrote that a friend with knowledge of the show said they had brought in real dead kittens for background to dissect on set, that there was no warning and people had trauma responses. Lena Dunham, whose shows have pushed boundaries before, said in a statement to People that she wasn’t aware of the plans for the scene before it happened, but supports the decision to cut it out of the show. Dunham said:

Earlier this week, a spokesperson for HBO Max commented on the controversy, saying in a statement to Variety that the production filmed scenes depicting a biology classroom assignment involving dissection of animal specimens. They were ethically sourced in consultation with American Humane via a biological supply company that works with schools. Furthermore, the spokesperson said that two extras had decided to leave the series as a result of the scene.

Premiering on March 11, 2021, genera+ion tells the story about a group of high school students who explore their sexuality in a modern world, which tests their deeply entrenched beliefs about life, love and family in their conservative community. The series stars Goonies veteran Martha Plimpton, Justice Smith, Chloe East, Michael Johnston, Nava Mau, Haley Sanchez, Uly Schlesinger, Nathanya Alexander, Lukita Maxwell, Chase Sui Wonders and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.

HBO Max’s upcoming series already being known as controversial is not a good sign. But with the Girls actress speaking out about what happened and how dedicated she is to making sure animals are being treated ethically and humanely, hopefully the streaming service won’t have that problem again. genera+ion premieres on HBO Max on March 11, 2021, releasing the first three episodes on that day. The show is created by Zelda and Daniel Barnz.

Television can be redundant. Showrunners get into this cycle of what works and say there such as with the tried-and-true family comedy, cop drama or high school soap. But with the turn of the century, TV gave way to a new golden age to the medium. One mix-up that has contributed greatly to the progress of television is having more female showrunners and writers among the male-dominated industry. Even though female characters are much more common today, women’s words only account for about 30 percent of what you see on your small screens.

Ellen DeGeneres - Ellen, “The Puppy Episode”

Ellen DeGeneres has undoubtedly become one of the most well-known names in television with her highly-popular talk show and philanthropy. Before she booked The Ellen Show, the comedian was given the opportunity to front her own sitcom simply called Ellen in the ‘90s. The only episode she wrote the story for herself is an immensely defining moment in television. 1997’s “The Puppy Episode” had Ellen’s television alter-ego come out as gay to Laura Dern’s Susan and a therapist played by Oprah Winfrey. The episode created a huge stir in the industry, causing threats from advertisers and religious groups, but has since become a cultural moment TV won’t forget.

Lena Dunham - Girls, “The Panic In Central Park”

A staple in female-run television in the modern age was HBO’s Girls, created by Lena Dunham. The show itself broke a lot of ground as to how women could be perceived and discussed about on television. Girls ran six seasons but Lena Dunham calls Season 5’s sixth episode the piece of writing she’s “most proud of.” After Allison Williams’ Marnie was MIA for much of that season, she returned for a beautiful self-contained episode of her own. Newly married to Desi but coming off a fight with him she runs into her ex Charlie (Christopher Abbott) and the pair have an eventful night out that leads her to make an important decision.

Amy Sherman-Palladino - Gilmore Girls, “They Shoot The Gilmores, Don’t They?”

What’s beautiful about Warner Bros television’s Gilmore Girls is there will never be anything quite like it again. Showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino has rapid-fire quips and smart dialogue that has since found a new home on Emmy-winning Amazon series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. But Gilmore Girls – if you lead, we will follow. Looking back, sure there’s some flaws to take in about Rory Gilmore specifically, but this Season 3 episode that aired in 2002 is a reminder of the show’s high point. Between boy drama with Rory and Lorelai and Stars Hollow town fun in the form of a 24-hour dance marathon it's the perfect episode to look back on.

Jane Espenson - Buffy the Vampire Slayer, “Conversations With Dead People”

Wow did it take a while for women to have a lead role in the action/fantasy genre, but we can thank Buffy the Vampire Slayer for proving there’s a massive audience for a genre title starring a badass woman. The iconic series was created by Joss Whedon, but one prominent writer on the show was Jane Espenson, who has gone on to write for ABC’s Once Upon a Time and Netflix’s Jessica Jones. This Season 7 episode (also from 2002) turned the series into a horror movie for a minute as each main character in the series encounters a member of the dead with great depth.

Shonda Rhimes - Grey’s Anatomy, “It’s The End of the World/As We Know It”

Shondaland! One cannot even begin to express the importance Shonda Rhimes has on television’s shift to the more diverse place it is today. There’s a reason Grey’s Anatomy has remained popular past 16 seasons, audiences are not ready to let go of these characters. The medical drama has changed immensely over the years as Rhimes pursued more shows including Scandal and Private Practice, but let’s look back on 2006’s two-part Season 2 finale. “It’s The End of the World/As We Know It” is one heck of a thriller centering on a patient who enters the OR with a bomb lodged in his chest.

Tara Herrmann and Jenji Kohan - Orange Is the New Black, “Toast Can’t Never Bread Again”

The landscape of television found itself a shake-up when Netflix began developing original programming starting with House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. The Jenji Kohan created series about a women’s prison presented storylines about a spectrum of identities in an entertaining and relentless way for its seven seasons on the streaming service. In this 2016 Season 4 finale, Jenji Kohan and co-writer Tara Herrmann delivered an unexpected delight. After the death of fan-favorite Poussey by prison guards in the episode before, “Toast Can’t Never Bread Again” combats the anger of the event by taking audiences on a series of flashbacks with Poussey.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge - Fleabag, “Season 2, Episode 1”

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has to be the highest-profile female writer working right now to create a more interesting place for television in Britain specifically. She recently worked on the script for No Time To Die to redefine the Bond Girl and developed Killing Eve for television, but it's Fleabag that shows off all her chops. The Amazon Original took home a stunning six Emmys last year, with eyes fixed on the Season 2 premiere. The episode about an uncomfortable dinner is cringey and hilarious while also somehow being a beautiful illustration of guilt and loneliness in the presence of others.

Shauna McGarry - Bojack Horseman, “The Face of Depression”

Another staple for Netflix’s success in television has been the adult-animation existential-crisis comedy Bojack Horseman. The show created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg often examines fame and ego in today’s world through has-been Bojack, played by Will Arnett. The series ended this year after six seasons. In 2019’s “Face of Depression,” Shauna McGarry wrote maybe the most peaceful episode of Bojack Horseman that brings about hope in the characters in a way that the show rarely leaves audiences with as the horse travels cross country to reconnect with loved ones. McGarry has only written two episodes of Bojack and the most important episode of Tuca & Bertie along with a handful for Anger Management and Take My Wife. She’s one to watch.

Kerry Ehrin - The Morning Show, “The Interview”

Another recent addition to television written by a female voice is AppleTV+’s debut drama The Morning Show which is sure to rack up awards this season. The show has a lot of female talent on board – its produced by its stars Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston and written by Kerry Ehrin and Jay Carson. Ehrin has quietly been a massive voice on television with credits on Friday Night Lights, Parenthood and Bates Motel before The Morning Show. The 2019 season one finale of the drama titled “The Interview” that wraps up its season long conversation about sexual harassment and the media in a shocking way.

Moira Walley-Beckett - Breaking Bad, “Ozymandias”

“Ozymandias” is thought of as the best Breaking Bad episode of all time, which is high praise considering the show itself is often thought of as the best show of all time. The Season 6 antepenultimate episode was written by Moira Walley-Beckett and directed by the great Rian Johnson of The Last Jedi and Knives Out. Walley-Beckett has written eight other episodes on the series and created Flesh and Bone and Anne with an E. The title is inspired by the 1818 Percy Bysshe Shelley poem and sets up the final moments on television for Walter White.

Judd Apatow has been in show business for a long time. From his cult classic TV show Freaks and Geeks to his latest movie The King of Staten Island, he’s made a name for himself crafting silly comedy with real stakes and grounded dramas with clever humor. But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t taken influence from once up-and-comers, like Lena Dunham.

Judd Apatow recently broke down his career on Vanity Fair’s YouTube page. When they reached the Girls part of his resume, he said before then he’d never heard of Lena Dunham until someone gave him a DVD of Tiny Furniture, an independent film Lena Dunham wrote, directed, and starred in. Here’s what he had to say about how Lena Dunham influenced The King of Staten Island:

That’s high praise. I can definitely see a connection and kinship between Judd Apatow and Lena Dunham’s writing. For those that don’t know, Lena Dunham’s work on Tiny Furniture received glowing reviews upon its release. It eventually found its way on the prestigious Criterion Collection. She followed that up with creating HBO's Girls, which Judd Apatow was a producer on.

The King of Staten Island has plenty of the Judd Apatow trademarks. Starring Pete Davidson, it’s a story about Scott, a young man still living with his mother and struggling with the loss of his father who died in a firefighter accident. He dreams of being a tattoo artist, but never really does anything about it. The theme of heroes being lost in their life situations crosses over quite a bit between Judd Apatow and Lena Dunham’s work. What's more, the movie mirrors Davidson's real-life struggles-- a personal touch that mirrors Dunham's type of writing.

Of course, for his part, Judd Apatow has influenced other actors and filmmakers in their own work. Sometimes these things are small, like the time he had to give a funny note to actress Bel Powley on the set of The King of Staten Island.

Other times, he influences entire careers. Since Freaks and Geeks, he’s been a longtime collaborator with Jason Segel. Judd Apatow gave Jason Segel the advice that the only way he’s going to make it is if he keeps writing, which Jason Segel said changed the course of his life.

Being inspired by Lena Dunham’s writing must not be steering Judd Apatow wrong as The King of Staten Island has been receiving mostly favorable reviews from critics. It’s available now on VOD.

Earlier this year, Brad Pitt starred in a little movie called Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, a Quentin Tarantino film in which he shared time on screen with Girls actress Lena Dunham. Later at an event, the two were chummy and she was even seen kissing the actor, albeit rather awkwardly, at a Once event. Now Dunham has explained what really happened at the premiere event.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live the oft-open actress revealed what seriously happened with Brad Pitt, noting that the awkward photo was just a bad angle and that she was not trying to “accost” the actor fellow Once Upon A Time In Hollywood co-star Leonardo DiCaprio refers to as “Lover.” Per Lena Dunham.

Some of us are photogenic and some of us are not. I don’t know about you, but if we were still in the era of printing photos, I’d have a barrelful of awkward photos readily available for anyone who’d want to Tweet about ‘em. I’d imagine it’s probably worse when you are meeting someone on the red carpet and there are professional photogs clicking images of you by the second. Some of those are bound to be terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad photos.

That didn’t stop people from making blunt comments about the moment however, which is why we’re still talking about it so many months later.

Lena Dunham went on to tell Andy Cohen that Brad Pitt recognized she was super nervous around him and went above and beyond to be kind to her later that evening during the Once promotional. She even said he gave her a ring, which she was still wearing in the interview (doubly amusing given another ring that happened to come up during the interview was thrown by Dunham into the compost pile).

So, it sounds like awkward kiss or no awkward kiss, Brad Pitt and Lena Dunham get along just fine and there’s really nothing to see in the images. What is worth seeing is Once Upon A Time In Hollywood if you haven’t already. The movie’s currently available on DVD, Digital and Blu-ray and I can promise does not feature any awkward Lena Dunham or Brad Pitt kisses.

If Once Upon a Time in Hollywood really is one of Tarantino's last movies, as the director has said he only plans to make 10 films, a lot of actors are certainly getting their chance to work with the filmmaker this time around. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a fictional western television star and Brad Pitt as his stunt double, set in Los Angeles in 1969 at the height of the counterculture explosion and during the Manson family events. Margot Robbie will also play Sharon Tate, a victim of Charles Manson murders. But that's just the tip of the iceberg with this movie's cast, and now the lineup includes Lena Dunham, among other new casting announcements.

According to Deadline, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be Girls creator and star Lena Dunham's first major motion picture. The actress will reportedly be playing Catherine "Gypsy" Share, a former member of Charles Manson's family, per Entertainment Weekly. Young blood actors Austin Butler, Maya Hawke and Lorenza Izzo also join her in the casting news has continued to grow. Al Pacino, James Marsden, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch and Damien Lewis previously joined Tarantino's cast that will feature a mix of real life people and fictional characters in Hollywood at the final moments of its golden age. A frequenter of teen programming, Austin Butler has reportedly joined the cast as Charles "Tex" Watson, a central member of the Manson family who was part of the murder of actress Sharon Tate and other victims. Butler was previously on The Carrie Diaries and Switched at Birth before starring for two seasons on fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles which started on MTV and moved to Spike before being cancelled by the network. He is set to star in comedy-horror film The Dead Don't Die alongside Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray and Steve Buscemi soon.

Maya Hawke, who is the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, has been cast as fictional character "Flower Child" in Quentin Tarantino's film. One does wonder what Maya's mother, Thurman, who recently discussed her issues with the director while on the set of Kill Bill, thinks about her next role. Hawke played Jo March in BBC's Little Woman adaptation and will soon be seen in the highly-anticipated next season of Stranger Things.

Lorenza Izzo will be portraying glamorous Italian movie star Francesca Capucci in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The Chilean actress previously worked on the short-lived AMC television series Feed the Beast and will be a series regular on the final season of Hulu's series Casual. Izzo also nabbed a role on The House with a Clock in Its Walls opposite Jack Black and Cate Blanchett.

For a movie about Hollywood, it's not too surprising that Quentin Tarantino's next flick will feature such a talented ensemble cast. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be released on July 26, 2019. Lena Dunham seems to be in good spirits. The actress/writer/director gained 24 pounds, by her own admission, and she couldn't be happier about it. In a heartfelt address on her social media feeds, the Girls creator discussed the positivity of her weight gain, and how she feels happier and healthier now that she's 162 pounds instead of 138. Lena also admits that she feels stronger now -- physically and spiritually -- too. Here's what Dunham wrote.

As she noted in the Instagram address, Lena Dunham's left side figure didn't bring the same happy, joyous and free feeling she feels now. Dunham was complimented and propositioned by men all the time, much to her distress, and she found her face on the cover of tabloid magazines, ones that spoke of the wonders of diets that work. Lena also says that, during that time in her life, she was "sick in the tissue and in the head" and that she was only providing herself with small amounts of sugar and tons of caffeine, as well as "a purse pharmacy." She doesn't regret leaving those days behind her.

These days, Lena Dunham claims that she is complimented "only by the people that matter for reasons that matter," and the actress/director says she is providing herself with "a steady flow of fun/healthy snacks and apps and entrees" that keep Lena feeling a wealth of positivity throughout the day.

Lena Dunham also claims she is feeling stronger now, lifting both her dogs and her spirits. And while Dunham admits that she will sometimes look at the photo on the left longingly, she remembers the "impossible pain" that came from looking that way, and she feels content with her figure right now.

It was only a little over a year ago when Girls ended for good with its acclaimed sixth season, but Lena Dunham hasn't stayed far away from HBO's offices. She is currently working on another series, Camping, which returns Jennifer Garner back to television for the first time since her Alias tenure. The new show will see Lena Dunham working solely behind-the-scenes, with Garner at the center as an L.A. mother with control issues and a few anger and resentment problems too, but the actress was also recently seen on American Horror Story: Cult. Additionally, Lena Dunham and her writing partner, Jenni Konner, were also once attached to write the English-language remake of Toni Erdmann, set to star Kristen Wiig and Jack Nicholson, but they are no longer attached to the project, according to producer Adam McKay. Nevertheless, Lena Dunham is still keeping herself busy and happy.

It should be noted that Camping doesn't have a premiere date at this time, but it's expected to come out either later this year or early next year. It's almost hard to believe, but we're fast approaching a year since HBO's acclaimed comedy Girls ended. The quirky dramedy ran for an impressive six seasons on the network, with creator Lena Dunham and showrunner Jenni Konner remaining on contract with HBO to produce more content. The first of these is the upcoming comedy Camping, for which Dunham and Konner will serve as executive producers and showrunners. Bits and pieces about the new show's contents have slowly been released, and the latest is major. Camping has cast its first series regular in none other than Jennifer Garner.

Jennifer Garner will return to the world of TV by playing Kathryn Siddell-Bauers in Lena Dunham's Camping. Kathryn is described as an L.A. mother with control issues and an undercurrent of anger and resentment. The series will follow a motley crew of characters who assemble for a camping trip celebrating the 45th birthday of Kathryn's husband. This includes various frenemies from Kathryn's life, including her ex-best friend and sister.

Regarding Jennifer Garner's casting, Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner released a statement sharing their enthusiasm for having the Alias and Dallas Buyer's Club actress on board for the new project.

This statement, which comes to us from TV Line, is a not so thinly reference to Jennifer Garner's tenure on Alias. For five seasons, Garner played Sydney Bristow on the ABC drama, picking up a Golden Globe win and an Emmy nomination in the process. While Garner was first introduced to audience on the small screen, she seems to have made a conscious decision to focus on film acting throughout her post-Alias career. This includes roles in films like Dallas Buyer's Club, Juno, and The Odd Life of Timothy Green. But Garner's coming return to TV will no doubt please the OG fans who have followed her career through the years.

Overall, Camping looks it's shaping up to be a hilarious series that will likely only make up one season. It's teased that the titular trip "becomes a weekend of tested marriages and woman-on-woman crime that won't soon be forgotten. Plus, bears." It should be interesting to see what other names will make up the show's cast, particularly if any Girls alum will pop up. It's also unclear if Lena Dunham might have an onscreen role, although she's been very open about the challenges of directing and acting at the same time. Regardless, the pressure it likely on to deliver the way that Girls' first two seasons did.

After all those deadly twists and turns from last year's mega-meta Roanoke, fans are ready to see what's coming from this politically motivated and clown-heavy new season, and we're here to clue everyone in on what to expect, as well as how the weekly episodes play out. And all without any voodoo involved. Well, maybe a little.

Below, you'll find everything we've learned about American Horror Story: Cult on the way to its highly anticipated premiere, as things were thankfully back to normal on the "dishing out information" front. When Will American Horror Story: Cult Premiere?

After last year's earlier-than-normal debut for Roanoke, FX and everyone else must have decided the pre-October bow was the more practical and desired time to kick things off, since it's happening again. American Horror Story: Cult will make its grand debut on Tuesday, September 5, at 10:00 p.m. ET. In case anyone thought they wouldn't have to worry about getting post-Labor Day nightmares, those thoughts are for naught.

What Have We Seen So Far From American Horror Story: Cult?

Understandably, FX was quick to put out the usual plethora of 15-second teasers, and American Horror Story: Cult produced some freaky-as-balls promos that were full of clowns and gross patterns. But fans finally got a taste of the show itself once the first trailer came out, offering up a first look at Evan Peters in his blue-haired glory. You can check that out below.

While trailers are always awesome, everybody knows that one of American Horror Story's most signature elements is the opening credits sequence. This season is far from an exception, also, as the Cult opener is chock-full of clowns and Presidential masks, cluing audiences in on the kinds of tension that will assumedly be clouding each of this season's installments.

Now all that's left to do is watch the premiere itself. And you can bet we'll be doing just that.

What's The Theme For American Horror Story Season 7?

It's every year's $64,000 question, and it's always one that gets fans pumped for the next season. As revealed during this year's San Diego Comic-Con, via a weirdly intriguing water show, American Horror Story: Cult will be about...cults. Although not necessarily just the stereotypical cults that people think of, such as Jonestown, but also cults of personality. (Plus, nothing supernatural will happen.)

Ryan Murphy initially started teasing this season by saying some form of the 2016 Presidential election would get filtered through the unadulteratedly bizarre lens of American Horror Story, though he later revised that thought to say that would just be an introduction to this harrowing story. (On one hand disappointing, since we've seen what _AHS' _take on real-world people, but on the other hand not so disappointing, for the same reason.) And it's a story that focuses on the many different issues that have come up in the U.S. over the growing rift between political parties, as well as the media attention given to that rift. For what it's worth, Murphy stated that both sides of the spectrum would get their due focus.

Once the Cult theme was revealed, it became slightly more clear that this tale would be one where Sarah Paulson's hyper-fraught Ally Mayfair-Richards is coping with fears that will undoubtedly get exploited by a titular group (probably made up of clowns) that believe in something much different from what her ideals are. And with Evan Peters' Kai Anderson as Ally's rage-filled polar opposite, we can't wait to see the kinds of obsession-plagued madness that'll ensue.

We know that part of that madness will involve certain Freak Show characters, specifically John Carroll Lynch's Twisty the Clown, who's set to appear in at least two episodes. We also can't wait to see how this season will tie into Season 8 and beyond, especially since it's supposed to be a big crossover season.

What AHS Cast Members Are Returning For American Horror Story: Cult?

Last year's American Horror Story: Roanoke, which completely changed the theme-revealing game, also went a bizarrely indirect route with its casting announcements. All of the big stars were almost exclusively revealed through random interviews from the actors themselves, but Cult went the more traditional route, with Ryan Murphy announcing the first two additions himself. (Or re-additions, as it were.) Let's take a look at the rundown now.

Sarah Paulson

While Jessica Lange used to be thought-of as THE go-to leading lady for American Horror Story, dependability continues to come in the form of Sarah Paulson. Having played lead roles from Season 2 onward, it just wouldn't feel like a year of AHS without one of Paulson going through some transformation for our eyes. With the fear-laden mother Ally Mayfair-Richards, the actress may have found her most human American Horror Story character yet.

Evan Peters

Though Paulson played a two-headed freak show act for one season, you can't get a more varied set of bonkers roles than the American Horror Oeuvre of Evan Peters, who has gone from school shooter ghost to Franken-boyfriend to the fabulous Mr. March. He'll thankfully also be back for not just the role of the manipulative Kai Anderson, but also a host of other infamous faces.

Cheyenne Jackson

First joining the American Horror Story ensemble for Hotel, Cheyenne Jackson has become something of an expected presence in this twisted world. In Cult, he'll play Dr. Vincent, a psychiatrist that will undoubtedly be more grounded and thoughtful than his previous characters.

Adina Porter

After breaking into the world of American Horror Story in a huge way for Roanoke -- both in the fake-reality segments and in the "real world" of the show, True Blood vet Adina Porter is back for Cult, and it looks like she'll again be used to being in front of a camera as news reporter Beverly Hope.

John Carroll Lynch

Across two seasons of American Horror Story, the always excellent John Carroll Lynch has played the tortured (and torturing) Twisty the Clown, as well as the clown-loving John Wayne Gacy. He'll return for Cult to reprise his role as the attention-hungry entertainer -- Twisty -- and we'll likely see his influence play a big part over the course of the season, even when he's not around.

Emma Roberts

Though Emma Roberts took a break from AHS to star in two seasons of Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens, she returned for American Horror Story cult in a limited capacity to portray another news reporter named Serina Belinda. Serina will apparently cause some friction when she gets a big and possibly unwarranted promotion over Adina Porter's character.

Chaz Bono

Chaz Bono didn't sign on for American Horror Story for the glitziest roles, having played the faux-hillbilly Lot Polk in Roanoke. And for Cult, it looks like Bono will be playing some kind of a business-minded person named Gary Longstreet. If nothing else, he's got the best last name this season.

Also reported to return for American Horror Story: Cult are fan favorite Francis Conroy, who should always be in every TV show on the air, as well as Mare Whittingham. Unfortunately, there's been no sign of who either of them will be playing, or in what capacity.

What New Actors Are Joining American Horror Story: Cult?

This season will see plenty of newcomers making their way into the American Horror Story-verse, although not all are new to Ryan Murphy-centered programming in general. The first new addition was perhaps the most intriguing one, and so that's where we'll start.

Billy Eichner

The consistently hilarious and high-volume actor Billy Eichner was the first AHS newbie announced. He'll join Cult in a recurring capacity as Harrison Wilton, and he'll likely be around for more than half of the episodes. We don't know quite what to expect just yet, but we do know that he'll have a bunch of mysterious tank tops, and that's legitimate character info. You'll know Eichner from his roles on Parks and Recreation, Hulu's Difficult People, Hairspray Live! or his extremely popular web-turned-truTV series Billy on the Street.

Alison Pill

With her last two big TV roles coming via The Newsroom and The Family, actress Alison Pill obviously decided to weird things up a notch by joining American Horror Story: Cult as Ivy Mayfair-Richards. Not much is known about the role just yet, beyond her ability to wield a knife both in and out of a kitchen setting. Currently seen in the sequel Goon: Last of the Enforcers, Pill will make a fine addition to this sordid series.

Billie Lourd

The daughter of the late Carrie Fisher, actress Billie Lourd gave audiences a glimpse of her Ryan Murphy-influenced madness on Scream Queens with Emma Roberts, and she's jumping into the American Horror Story world as Cult's Winter Anderson. Note the last name similarities with Evan Peters' Kai, and get worried about any and all kids on this show, as Winter is looking to help out mothers in need. (I can't tell if it's also worth noting her character's first name is basically the same as Sarah Paulson's Lana Winters.)

Colton Haynes

American Horror Story always welcomes dapper-looking gents, and Colton Haynes will fit in nicely as the hard-nosed Detective Samuels. It's not immediately clear what he'll be detecting in Cult, but the trailer had enough murder-looking moments to make it seem fairly obvious that he'll be trying to solve some murders. Fans who know him from his work on Teen Wolf and Arrow are likely in for a completely different character than his normal parts.

Leslie Grossman

Leslie Grossman and Ryan Murphy's professional relationship goes back to 1999, when they worked together on the dramedy Popular, and they've since worked together on Nip/Tuck and The New Normal. She joins American Horror Story: Cult as Meadow Wilton, wife of Billie Eichner's character, and those two should be a whole lot of fun to watch. Assuming they aren't playing the most evil monsters ever. (Which, really, would also be a lot of fun.)

Lena Dunham

Not meant to be longstanding within the American Horror Story: Cult world, Girls creator notorious radical feminist Valerie Solanas, who tried to murder artist Andy Warhol. She'll show up in the seventh episode -- with her name actually in the title -- and it'll be interesting to see just how heavily she plays into the story being told.

Where Can I Watch American Horror Story: Roanoke And Other Seasons?

Unfortunately, because of (fill in the blank with a reason), American Horror Story: Roanoke currently isn't available for streaming. That goes for Netflix, where the FX series has long been a home for binge-happy fans, and FX's actual website, which kept some/all of the episodes up when the season was airing. You can currently check out the first five seasons of American Horror Story on Netflix, as well as on Hulu and on Amazon Prime, and if you can't wait for the freebies, you can rent American Horror Story: Roanoke on Amazon, iTunes and other streaming retailers.

While it's sad to see the summer months coming to a close, it's an exciting time for hardcore TV fans. Because the fall brings along a bevy of premiers, as network and cable shows once again return to regular programming. There are also quite a few shows that air exclusively in the fall, chief among them being Ryan Murphy's massively popular anthology series American Horror Story. This season has been titled Cult, and will influenced by the 2016 Presidential Election. Many of the cast's roles are still a mystery, although Murphy just revealed who actress/writer/director Lena Dunham will be playing in her first TV roles since Girls wrapped.

Lena Dunham will be playing infamous radical feminist Valarie Solanas when she eventually appears on Cult. Solanas rose to fame in the late 1960s, primarily for attempting to assassinate famed artist Andy Warhol. She also famously wrote her SCUM Manifesto, which encouraged women to overthrow the patriarchal society by any means-- including killing men. According to Deadline, Dunham's role will reportedly occur through flashback sequences, and she'll appear in the seventh episode of the season, titled "Valerie Solanas Died for Your Sins: Scumbag".

Valarie Solanas will figure into the story because of how Cult is framing its overall narrative. While not actually about the election, the series will reportedly focus on cult leaders, and how they're able to manipulate followers when they're feeling disenfranchised. While the season will be set primarily in modern day, we'll see historic cult figures like Solanas, Charles Manson, and Jim Jones.

It's no doubt purposeful that Lena Dunham will be playing a radical feminist in American Horror Story: Cult, given her colorful reputation. Dunham is a feminist political activist, in addition to her acclaimed work on the small screen. She's garnered a fair amount of controversy regarding her work over the years, and has been called a radical feminist by a few of her critics. Now she'll be able to actually occupy that space, playing someone convicted of attempted murder and assault and likely having some tongue in cheek moments for the haters.

This news is just the latest in the details about American Horror Story: Cult that have trickled out over the past week or so. The first trailer arrived this week, introducing the lead actors including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Billie Lourd. After the 2016 Presidential Election, the anxiety of Sarah Paulson's Ally Mayfair-Richards begins to spike, especially her fear of clowns. Evan Peters will be playing a variety of roles this season, including the various cult leaders throughout history.

American Horror Story has been scaring and startling TV fans ever the show debuted back in 2011, and fans have gotten six seasons of frights in the years since. The anthology series has become known for reusing actors over and over again in different roles, with frequent flyers like Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters returning time and time again. Now, however, showrunner Ryan Murphy has cast a brand new actress for American Horror Story: Lena Dunham. Murphy made the announcement via social media, posting this:

Apparently Ryan Murphy and Lena Dunham have been itching to work together for a while now. As Dunham has been busy with her HBO series Girls and Murphy has been building a TV empire, the two likely never had the time to collaborate... until now. Girls recently aired its final season, leaving Dunham with the time to explore other projects. The time was right, and she will finally get to work with Murphy on a TV show.

While this casting news (as posted on Ryan Murphy's Twitter account) seems to be a dream fulfilled for Lena Dunham and Ryan Murphy, fans may be... well, a bit surprised. Dunham isn't really known for the kind of projects Murphy routinely produces, and the roster for the new season of American Horror Story was already pretty full. The only new news I was expecting to get on the American Horror Story front any time soon was the Season 7 theme, and that has yet to be released.

Lena Dunham joins a cast anchored by Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, so we'll have at least a couple of very familiar faces in the action in Season 7. Other newcomers include Arrow veteran Colton Haynes, Scream Queens alum Billie Lourd, Popular actress Leslie Grossman, and Billy Eichner of Billy on the Street. We can also expect the return of Twisty the Clown, which is great news for anybody who misses having nightmares about a rubber chicken-swinging maniac. Then, there's what seems to be a demented elephant with a ghoulish grin that will appear in the new season. All things considered, I'd say we're in for a wild ride.

Unfortunately, not too many details are yet available about the plot of Season 7, although we've been able to piece a few elements together. The action will begin on the night of the 2016 presidential election, and something horrible will go down that almost certainly unleashes all manner of horrors on the characters. Given the political slant of the season, I won't be surprised if we get a demented-looking donkey along with the ghoulish elephant.

As sad as it may be, all TV shows must come to an end eventually. And this year is bringing the final seasons of two of HBO's series: The Leftovers and Girls. The latter comedy created by Lena Dunham has been running for six seasons, with the series finale just two weeks away. As such, the cast has been making their rounds to promote the final episodes, including a fantastic recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The four titular Girls (and Elijah) recently did a fantastic sketch, spoofing if the characters from HBO's acclaimed series aged into classic sitcom The Golden Girls. Check it out below.

Pretty great, right? In a perfect mixture of The Golden Girls and Girls, we see how the quirky Brooklyn 20 somethings would react to retirement. And it ain't pretty.

The clip from Kimmel opens up with everyone's favorite theme song "Thank You For Being A Friend". Substituting HBO's Girls logo into the Golden Girls title card was adorable, as were the opening credits that did an excellent impression of the beloved sitcom opening. Even the transition music from the theme song to the first scene was the same, substituting stock footage of the exterior of Hannah's apartment, rather than the home that Blanche, Rose, Sophia, and Dorothy share.

You can see how certain Girls characters are being heavily influenced by The Golden Girls. Allison Williams' Marnie Michaels has become the Blanche of her group- continuing to have quite the laundry list of sexual partners well into her 70's. Marnie has also apparently continued her poor luck in the dating world, and has been married a whopping eight times. Good for you, Marn.

Drawing another parallel from The Golden Girls is Lena Dunham herself. Despite the titular Girls being roughly the same age, Hannah's constant hijinks and nudity have made her the Sophia of the group. She's constantly getting the conversation sidetracked by her own thoughts, and acts in a way that generally embarasses everyone around her. The only thing missing was a Sophia "picture it!" moment, but maybe it got cut for time.

The other two Girls girls aren't quite as close to Golden Girls characters, but that doesn't stop making their aging any less hilarious. An elderly Jessa is just as free spirited as ever, only picking up cigarettes on her trip to the grocery store and enjoying a drip of morphine just for fun. Shoshana is still very much herself, constantly annoyed by the shenanigans of her more ridiculous friends.

And then there's Andrew Rannells' Elijah. He's apparently found the key to youth, and looks like he's still in his twenties. That secret: oil of olay and boxed wine. It's just that simple, bitches.

Overall this was a pretty great sketch, although I could have done without Jimmy Kimmel's inclusion as Hannah's stripping son. But this is a great way to celebrate Girls' final season, which is coming to an end very soon.

Lena Dunham is no stranger to tattoos. The Girls creator and star has numerous displays of ink on her body, and this week, she showed off one more. The location of her new tattoo is as interesting as the design. And wait until you hear what she's calling it...

In addition to celebrating that this tattoo is Dunham's first original piece by a female tattoo artist, she also seems to be torn between describing it as a warrior's chest plate and a "tit chandelier." Personally, I'd go with the warrior title, as "tit chandelier" doesn't have nearly the same level of fierceness in its tone. That said, it does look like she's added a bit of elegant decoration to her chest. The design looks a bit more like an antique necklace than a chandelier if you ask me, but both work.

As for the choice to set her new ink beneath her breasts, Lena Dunham isn't the first celebrity to choose this location. As Dunham herself points out in her post, Rihanna also has a tattoo across her chest, which you can sometimes catch glimpses of, depending on what she's wearing...

As for Lena Dunham, now seems like the right time to get a new tattoo. The writer/actor/director is wrapping up the sixth and final season of her HBO dramedy Girls. Though she began to make a name for herself with the film Tiny Furniture, the HBO series has certainly made her a more prominent figure, also earning her two Golden Globes and a Director's Guild of America award, not to mention more than one Emmy nomination. Though Girls is set to wrap up this spring, it's unlikely we've heard the last from Dunham on the big or small screen.

Television is a bit of a revolving door; when one series ends, it makes room for new and exciting shows within the same network. And perhaps no network is as good as this as HBO, which has a steady schedule of exciting TV shows airing all year around. One of the HBO's more long running series, Lena Dunham's dramedy Girls, will be airing its sixth and final season this year, and all the trade secrets and drama from the show are finally coming out. Shockingly, it turns out that one of the four titular girls actually tried to quit the gig.

Jemima Kirke has played the free spirited and somewhat unstable Jessa for Girls' long tenure. She and her costars recently spoke to the good folks at Glamour about the show's final season, as the premiere is a month away. It was here that Kirke revealed she tried to leave the show right before Season 2 began filming. After Lena Dunham dropped the bomb, Kirke elaborated, saying:

Holy wow. This is sure to be pretty mind blowing news for Girls fans who couldn't imagine the show without the four young women. What exactly would Girls be without Jessa?

Jemima Kirke's desire to quit Girls before Season 2 actually makes a great deal of sense when you think about the context of the show. Season 1 ended with Jessa's surprise wedding to the absolutely horrendous Thomas-John. But when Season 2 picked up, Jessa was noticeably absent for the first episode or so. Lena Dunham and the other writers used Jessa's honeymoon as the reason for her absence, but perhaps it was actually a stalling technique as they attempted to talk Jemima Kirke off the ledge. It eventually worked, and Jessa has gradually become a larger role in the series.

The revelation that Jemima Kirke originally wanted to cut her time as Jessa down is also a mind blower when you think about her personal life. Kirke and creator/director/writer/actress Lena Dunham are actually childhood friends. Kirke appeared in Dunham's debut film Tiny Furniture, which served as the project that got Dunham the job at HBO through Judd Apatow. So while Jessa's absence would have been terrible, it would presumably have grave consequences on the duo's personal lives.

It should be interesting to see how Jessa continues to progress through the show's final season. Jessa's actions in Season 5 turned a lot of fans off from the character, as we saw her break the girl code and begin dating Hannah's ex Adam. The new couple were last seen having a massive argument and essentially destroying an apartment together. But Jessa also finally has direction in her life, so perhaps her budding career as a therapist will move forward.

Girls' final premiere episode will air February 12th on HBO.

There are numerous reasons, and numerous ways, for people to take issue with the movies. Lena Dunham's major issue recently is about the advertising. Somebody has decided that they simply can't deal with the depiction of guns used in the ads for Jason Bourne and has gone to removing them from the posters in New York City subways. Girls creator Lena Dunham has picked up the movement, and is now advocating that her followers do the same.

*Update: *The Instagram post has since been removed. In the post, Instagram user @tulipbone wrote, "Hey New Yorkers, what if we do some peeling & get rid of the guns in the Jason Bourne subway ads. So tired of guns." Dunham reposted the image of a Bourne poster with the gun torn away, and wrote, "Good idea @tulipbone! Let's go!" No clue why you would remove that image, or that message, if you truly stood behind it, but that's what has happened.

*From Earlier: *As a reaction to the recent rash of gun-related violence, it's completely understandable why people could feel this way. They're frustrated, scared, and simply tired of hearing about gun violence every single day, only to turn around and then see a gun as part of an advertisement on a subway wall. The politics of gun control don't even necessarily enter into it; it's just a mental connection to a bunch of terrible news that we all wish we could stop hearing about, and a chain reaction of events that we wish would just stop happening.

Having said that, defacing a movie poster may not be the best outlet for such things. We're not sure what the laws are, but that is probably considering defacing somebody else's property, and while punishments may not too severe, they probably exist. Also, whatever your opinion regarding the role of guns in recent violence, the argument is harder to make when extended to the fake gun in the fictional movie. We're also forced to point out that simply removing the part of the poster which has the gun in it still leaves a distinctly gun shaped hole, it's pretty clear what used to be there.

While Jason Bourne is certainly not the only summer blockbuster that involves people using guns, it does have the unfortunate timing to be the one that features them in its advertising and one that is going to be released soon.While the Bourne series certainly uses their share of guns, quite often the best action sequences in the series don't rely on the guns, even if they happen to be in the scene.

It will be interesting to see if there are a rash of poster defacings all over New York City. While this will likely be a small movement, it's possible that, with passions as high as they are, it could pick up. While this will result in a lot of funny looking posters, it will likely not have a massive impact on the film.

Sex scenes in movies and on TV may look enticing and gratifying for all involved, but there aren’t a whole lot of actors out there who consider cinematic lovemaking to be all that wonderful. For instance, most performers wear some kind of uncomfortable protective sheath around their genitals, whether for privacy purposes or for censoring purposes. Girls star Lena Dunham, however, ain’t got time for flesh-colored coverings when she’s fictionally doing the deed.

In one of the funniest and raunchiest interviews ever put together, THR got Dunham in the same room with comedian Amy Schumer, Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s Ellie Kemper, Black-ish’s Tracee Ellis Ross, and Saturday Night Live’s Kate McKinnon. It didn’t take long for the conversation to get R-rated, at which point Dunham came out with this.

Not that Dunham’s Hannah has had sex with every male character on Girls, but there have been enough that the actress would be fully aware of how uncomfortable such a patch would be, and she’s well within her rights to be as cozy as she wants on her own show. And for what it’s worth, the male actors in the scenes are apparently all wearing penis bags, so I guess that helps to keep everyone’s business to themselves. (Not all actors are fans of this kind of cover-up, though.)

Dunham also shared more thoughts on how people view sex scenes.

I’m no prude or anything (as Kemper claims to be in the interview), but there’s no way I could be comfortable performing simulated sex on a set. Perhaps that’s because I’m not a great actor or because I don’t have a great body, but it’s probably a combination of the two with a load of other psychological problems thrown in. I digress.

The rest of the article is a hoot in every which way, even as it shines a light on how these actresses in particular, and others in general, are treated in Hollywood. Everyone has horror stories about past experiences involving sexism, racism, and other forms of shameful rudeness.

So keep all that in mind the next time you’re watching Hannah getting it on with someone on Girls. Or don’t, really. Just watch the show and keep it on the air.

Two of the hottest stars in television, Lena Dunham and Norman Reedus, are set to make the move to the big screen together with Sky. But do the duo have the screen-presence to excel on the big screen? Or will they be found lacking and only cement their reputation as television stars instead?

We’ll find out with Sky, a thriller/road-movie that will also star Diane Kruger. According to Variety, Lily Sometimes director Fabienne Berthaud will oversee the film, which will be her third feature film. There’s a European vibe running throughout Sky, as it is being part financed by Bertrand Faivre’s French studio Le Bureau as well as Germany’s Pandora. They are also hoping to raise further financing while at the Berlin Film festival.

Diane Kruger will take the lead role in Sky. She will star as Romy who takes a trip to California with her husband, played by Gilles Lellouche. However their journey takes a sadistic turn when Romy accidentally kills her spouse during a fight that turns violent. Rather than doing the honorable thing and admitting to her crime, Romy decides to embark on a road trip across Nevada and California instead. Along the way she is expected to bump into The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus and Girls’ Lena Dunham.

Emmanuelle Le Courtois, who works for The Bureau Sales and is looking to shop around Sky while in Berlin, has been talking up the thriller. She explained that it’s character-driven with multiple layers, while it’s also about a "woman emancipating herself." Sound intrigued? Sky certainly does have an appeal.

Diane Kruger is a worthy leading lady, however it’s the addition of Lena Dunham and Norman Reedus which means that Sky should have an appeal to US audiences. Dunham has turned into one of the most complex and divisive figures in independent cinema and television. This is mainly due to her work as the lead actor, writer, director and creator of Girls, the HBO dramedy that has blossomed into a pop culture phenomenon. Dunham was given the opportunity to work on Girls thanks to her directorial debut, 2010’s Tiny Furniture. She has also appeared in the likes of Nobody Walks (which she co-wrote), Supporting Characters, This Is 40 and Happy Christmas. Meanwhile Norman Reedus is now an all-round American hero because of his turn as Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead. Some movie fans have even forgiven him for his work in The Boondocks Saints because of the character’s popularity.

We’ll see if the duo are able to perfectly combine when Sky is released. Fingers crossed it will get the financing it requires over the next few days at the Berlin Film Festival, and that it will hit cinemas at some point in 2016.

HBO’s Girls is finally headed back to the schedule, and to celebrate, the subscription cable network has put out the first extended trailer for Season 4. It looks at Hannah, who is headed to Iowa for a writers workshop, while her oddball group of friends continue to adjust to life away from the warm embrace of their parents’ monetary cocoons. We’ve known Hannah would be getting away from the big city for a while, now. Back in August, HBO released a glimpse of the new season, which hilariously features Lena Dunham falling off a bike in Iowa. While Iowa offers plenty of reasons to party hard, the trailer makes it apparent that Dunham’s Hannah might be having some problems getting creative in the writing workshop. Because it wouldn’t be Girls without a little personal crisis…

Also, in the new video, we get to catch up with Jessa, Marnie and Shoshannah, who all seem to be having a fairly rough time. Poor Shosh gets made fun of for her wardrobe choices by a businesswoman in an interview, while Jessa actually seems to be getting arrested in one shot in the video. Marnie’s unlucky in love and Adam and Hannah are miles and miles apart. Adam also seems to be going through some sort of personal thing, whining about his body in the trailer. Also, Hannah takes a fake shower. But seriously, what’s up with Jessa and this arrest scene?

Girls went into production just a couple of months ago. Just like past seasons, HBO has signed on for a 10-episode order for the season, which is a reduction from the 12 episodes produced last year. Regardless, most of the main cast members will be back and a slew of new names have been added. Girls has added Community star Gillian Jacobs to play Mimi-Rose Howard, a new recurring character during Season 4. Maude Apatow, Zachary Quinto and Ana Gasteyer are also expected to guest star.

Lena Dunham is taking her brand of humor and perma-following controversy to the Saturday Night Live stage this week and NBC has just released the brand spanking new promotional videos to prove it. Saddling up alongside fellow hip young feminist Kate McKinnon, the duo hit all the appropriate Dunham talking points: nudity, GIRLS, exhaustive worrying, and self-deprecating honesty. Looks like Lena Dunham’s SNL debut is going to be positively Horvathian.

The highly accomplished actor, writer, and director will host the Saturday evening sketch show staple for the first time ever, with musical guest The National set to back her up sonically speaking. And although there was nary a mention of Blerta (the brilliant and perfectly hilariously wonderful Tina Fey’s cast addition from her time hosting the premiere this season — below), there were more than a few references to Dunham’s seemingly controversial series.

Like how McKinnon wants to, essentially, Single White Female Hannah Horvath and take on her personality and life and live out those truly Brooklynian dreams. Or her nod to that much-discussed nudity. And then, of course, there is the nod to the show’s feminist leanings with a young modern feminist dance party (see? Sometimes us feminists really know how to rock ‘n’ roll, you guys.)

We’re anticipating plenty of shenanigans and so awkward it hurts funny moments from Dunham’s turn on the show — considering that’s her bread and butter. The episode airs the night before the 10th episode of Girls third season, titled “Role-Play,” which was co-written by Dunham and her mentor Judd Apatow. The third season will finale on March 23rd, but don’t worry too much as a fourth season has already been ordered by HBO and is slated to air in 2015. There’s going to be so much Dunham going on you’ll hardly be able to deal!

Saturday Night Live airs — you guessed it! — Saturdays at 11:30PM ET/PT on NBC.

Lena Dunham is about to get her Studio 8H debut. The real-life embodiment of Girls’ Hannah Horvath, writer and creator Dunham will take her first trip to Saturday Night Live on March 8th of this year with musical guest The National. Time to get your best naked cake jokes ready, you guys.

In a press release from the network, the Tiny Furniture helmer’s time on the stage was announced, with, weirdly enough, more space given to musical guest The National’s accolades than Dunham’s. “Lena Dunham will make her SNL hosting debut on March 8. Dunham created and currently stars in the HBO series, Girls. The National will make their first appearance as musical guest. Their most recent album, Trouble Will Find Me, received a 2014 Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album and their documentary, Mistaken For Strangers hits theaters last week of March.”

This is the second hosting announcement made by the network in recent weeks. Next week the show will return from its winter hiatus with The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons and musical guest Beck.

It’s been a decidedly notable time in the long-running sketch series’ history, with a so-called rebuilding year getting not only several new cast members, but also a race scandal that resulted in an additional three new hires in addition to the departure of Seth Meyers for the Late Night desk left open by fellow SNL alum Jimmy Fallon’s move to The Tonight Show.

As you’re likely to remember, Dunham’s HBO series has already been skewered by the show — and quite well at that. The women of SNL parodied the show during its debut episode of the season, effectively introducing the newest girls in the cast to the world. It was a clip that later went viral, even eliciting a response from Dunham herself (who loved it) on Twitter, “The SNL parody of Girls was a true honor,” she tweeted before adding, “Very excited about the current lineup of SNL ladies. They are funny like whoa.”

So can we perhaps expect a lot of lady-centric skits on Dunham’s episode? Seems likely. For those that need a refresher, check out the sketch below (and bask in the glory that is Shoshanna’s doughnut hair one more time):

That's a pretty great line-up for Meyers' first week. The former Saturday Night Live writer and "Weekend Update" anchor will reunite with Poehler, who once shared the news desk with Meyers before departing the series to star on Parks and Recreation. Recently winning a Golden Globe award at an event she was hosting is a mark of just how well Poehler's been doing for herself lately. Between her history with Meyers and her own professional success, she seems like the perfect guest to help kick off Meyers' late night series. The Vice President will also be there, along with musical guest A Great Big World.

Filling out the middle part of the week, there's Kelly Ripa, country music artist Brad Paisley, Girls' Lena Dunham, Captain America: Winter Soldier's Anthony Mackie (Falcon!) and John Mayer Trio, Mayer's blues rock band with Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan.

Later in the week, it looks like Magneto and Xavier are teaming up, as Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are both scheduled to appear on Friday's episode. It's a bit early to be promoting X-Men: Days of Future Past, which doesn't arrive in theaters until late May, but I doubt anyone will complain about that if it means seeing these two great actors side-by-side.

Late Night with Seth Meyers airs weeknights at 12:35am ET/PT beginning Feb. 24. NBC also announced The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon's line-up. Fallon's late night show starts next week (February 17). Check out that schedule here.

For those of you that were too busy snark-watching the Golden Globes to make time for any other television events, including the return of HBO’s Girls, we’ve got you covered. In fact, the network made not one, but both of last night’s third season premiere episodes available for viewing online — click here for episode one, “Females Only,” and then here for episode two, “Truth or Dare.” It’s a Hannah Horvath miracle, you guys. Now go find your rattiest t-shirt and call in sick for the rest of the work day because you’ve got some television (and hopefully a pint of ice cream) with your name on it.

After the network picked up two awards last night — both for their film Behind the Candelabra — the third season installment of the dysfunctional lives of Brooklyn’s finest returned. And, hoo boy, did the whole thing start off with a bang. Loose ends from last season — namely Adam’s tryst with Shiri Appleby’s Natalia — were tied up with a ferocious sort of pointedness that most certainly deserves to be fully appreciated in the video, but also definitely needs to be written out to experience the unadulterated hatred and anger that’s going on in Natalia’s little monologue. Because it was cutting, it was mean, and it was very good.

Upon confronting Adam after he disappeared off the face of the earth, Natalia was deservedly upset. So she and her friend (played by Amy Schumer) really let Hannah and him have it. "So you know what you have on your hands here, right? You know that you have an off-the-wagon Neanderthal sex addict sociopath who's gonna fuck you like he's never met you and like he's never loved his own mother. And then you're gonna cry, because that's what you do. Does he like to eat you out from behind? Does he bite your neck? Does he sound like a dying dog when he's f*cking you and he shoots his cum all over the place like it's goddamn confetti? F*cking in my hair. I had to get a goddamn blowout after I left your place. I hope you two just enjoy your urine-soaked life f*cking like the two feral animals that you both know you are. You're gonna end up with a baby that you don't know how to care for. You're gonna f*cking kill your kid. You're gonna give it spoiled formula. You're not gonna get any milk out of those tits. I just hope that you enjoy the f*cking life that you've chosen. And we? We're not paying the check, thanks."

See what we mean? Major yikes, you guys. At least there were tacos — and Shoshanna — to make everything better.

The episodes also featured Orange is the New Black star Danielle Brooks, who got particularly intimate with Jessa in rehab, Richard E. Grant as another patient on the scene, and Rita Wilson returned to harass her daughter Marnie into getting over Charlie once and for all (especially because he’s not coming back on the show).

Last night the Golden Globes doled out plenty of booze to the stars and plenty of laughs and surprises for those of us at home. Dallas Buyers Club and American Hustle came away as big winners, while supposed frontrunner 12 Years a Slave got shut down for every one of their seven nominations except (inexplicably) Best Motion Picture - Drama.

You can see the full list of winners here. But below I'll be reliving some of the Globes best moments through that wonderful web portrait known as gifs.

Before the Globes began there was the normal nonsense on the red carpet, including the Mani-Cam which Elizabeth Moss--who took home a Globe for Top of the Lake--gave a special one finger salute.

I don't know what Girls creator/star Lena Dunham was asked here, but this is the face I made when Brooklyn Nine-Nine beat out Girls and Parks and Recreation for Best TV Comedy.

Jennifer Lawrence was rocking an old-school Ariel dress (as EW pointed out), and took to the carpet with her usual lovable shenanigans.

But when she won, she was genuinely and sweetly surprised. The only surprise in her acceptance speech was how uncharacteristically unwacky it was. As I wondered when the backlash might begin for this high flyer, one of the attendees of the Golden Globe party I was at remarked, "Ugh! I'm so over her." And so it begins.

Also in attendance was TV star Julia Louis-Dreyfus who took the opportunity of her nom for the movie Enough Said to sit with the cool film kids. Still, she's too cool for Reese Witherspoon's selfie. (Doesn't she know who she is!?)

But later hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler called out Juila's return to the TV side of the room, where the Veep star was chowing down while looking totally glam.

Speaking of Amy and Tina, they were on fire last night, throwing down saucy jokes and winsome bits. They knew when to play to the camera...

And to the crowd. One standout skit had Poehler playing Fey's secret, snotty love child, Randy, who took to the audience to meet his father. Sidenote: We would be totally on board for Tina Fey and Idris Elba having a love child. It would be beautiful, smart and just perfection. Look at Idris! He's down to make this happen.

Beating out Frozen's "Let It Go," Bono was the surprise winner of Best Original Song for a Motion Picture, but he'd show no love to P Diddy. #broburn

When it came to Poehler though, Bono was all over her! Awaiting the results of Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical, the U2 frontman gave the Parks and Recreation star a warm massage. And once she won, things got really physical!

It was touching that Poehler was genuinely stunned she won, and even more so that her TV family was overjoyed for her.

Other lessons from the Globes: Aaron Paul is the only one allowed to say "Yeah Bitch" when accepting an award.

Leonardo DiCaprio is a Philomaniac.

And most importantly, Emma Thompson need not win a Golden Globes for Saving Mr. Banks to win the night.

The Marnie and Charlie plotline on Girls has been stretched beyond imagination over the past two seasons of HBO’s comedy, and when I first heard that actor Christopher Abbott was leaving the series, I hoped he would just get written out sometime during Season 3. Though that would have been ideal for fans and likely ideal for the show’s writers, those hopes were dashed quickly. It turns out that Abbott left the series before Season 3 began filming, reportedly due to differences the actor was having with the show’s creator Lena Dunham. Thus, he won’t be in any forthcoming episodes, but he has spoken out to explain his decision to leave the subscription cable network show.

I don’t imagine that it’s super easy to get along with a creative type like Dunham. However, people don’t typically quit jobs just because they aren’t huge fans of their bosses. They typically quit when better opportunities come along or when they want to try to break big in a new medium, like film. Since his departure from Girls, Abbott has signed on to perform in one of Lucy Thurber’s Hill Town Plays, which focus on a young woman growing up in an uneducated and poverty-filled area of Massachusetts. All five of the Hill Town Plays are currently being performed across New York City. I wouldn’t call the role the gig of a lifetime, but decent reviews indicate that Abbot is making some impact. The actor recently told the New York Times that it’s “the most important project [he’s] done.”

He also told the outlet that his reason for quitting girls stems less from problems with Dunham and more from problems he was having identifying with his Girls character. Eventually, it seems he reached a point where he just couldn’t take it anymore.

Whether or not disagreements between Dunham and Abbott were actually in play, it sounds like it’s best for everyone he moves on, whether fans are temporarily disappointed or not. Over the past year or so, some of the crazy buzz has warn off Girls, but there’s still every reason to think Season 3 has the potential to be some of the best writing we’ve seen from Dunham yet. The New York City world Abbott is referring to is so rich with detail and eccentricity that it would take many, many more seasons to properly explore the major elements without running into a creative wall.

Here’s hoping Abbott stumbles into a television project he can more properly related to sooner rather than later.

There is no real reason to mesh HBO's Girls and Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty… or at least, I didn't think there was until I saw this video. Comedian Chelsea Davison has a pitch-perfect impression of Girls star Lena Dunham in her back pocket, and instead of using it to comment on the show itself-- there's more than enough of that going around the Internet as it is-- she uses it to record Dunham's so-called audition tape for the Jessica Chastain role in Zero Dark Thirty. It's kind of amazing. Take a look below.

Of course, this is more of an impression of Dunham's self-absorbed Girls character Hannah, but given how willfully Dunham blurs the line between the two it seems fair game. And in fact, Dunham is a fan of the video as well, having tweeted this last night:

Given how much criticism Girls has endured since it began airing on HBO, this video is probably the gentlest form of parody Dunham has encountered. And while the magic in this is mostly Davison's spot-on impression, there's something exceedingly brilliant about her pairing Dunham with Zero Dark Thirty-- two very polarizing stories about women, directed by women, that people can't seem to stop talking about. The joke, of course, is that Dunham is the exact opposite of Chastain's hard-nosed Maya, and would basically be the last person you'd want interrogating Al-Qaeda members. But to see two of the most fascinating women to be on our screens in the last few months is not only fascinating, but weirdly subversive somehow. I can't put my finger on it… but I will probably be watching this video many times. Mostly because it just makes me laugh.

It looks like HBO it-girl Lena Dunham is going to take advantage of her success with Girls. If you are a fan of the series or Dunham yourself, you may be interested in her newest project, also in development at HBO. Dunham will also team up with her Girls co-showrunner Jenni Konner for the series, which will be set in New York. At this point, you may be wondering how the project in development will actually differ from the show the two women already have on air, but it actually won’t be as close as you might guess.

The project is based on All Dressed Up and Everywhere to Go, an upcoming book written by famed personal shopper Betty Halbreich, who began her business in the seventies and has dressed three generations of women in New York. According to Deadline, in the time she has been active, Halbreich has worked with socialites and celebrities, including Sarah Jessica Parker and Katie Couric. She’s also been involved with fashion for TV and film, probably most notably for Sex and the City, another HBO show that Girls has garnered some comparison to.

Dunham and Konner are set to write the TV project. Since Girls is already likely to get a third season, it may seem strange that Dunham and Konner would sign on for another New York-based project (no one wants to pigeonhole themselves). However, with Halbreich’s book set to hit the market soon, the time was ripe, and I don’t really blame the girls for jumping on the project. We’ll let you know if this one moves forward at HBO.

Although HBO hasn’t given Girls an official third season renewal, yet, word is that it’s happening, which really should come as no surprise. Lena Dunham, who picked up a Golden Globe for her work on the show the same night it won Best Comedy, confirmed that there will be a third season on Thursday.

Dunham spoke with Alec Baldwin this morning during his podcast Here’s The Thing, saying that the third season of the hit HBO comedy is a sure thing. She told Baldwin that the show will begin production on the new season in March, noting that she is "so excited." So while we don’t have the news in stone just yet, it does look like fans can look forward to another season.

Girls just started airing Season 2, premiering on the same night as the big Golden Globe wins for the show, with ratings down slightly from the first season. But taking home a few statues certainly can’t hurt the series and pretty much ensured that we would be seeing another season along the line. Deadline says the show has closed a deal to bring back executive producer Jenni Konner as showrunner alongside Dunham, although co-executive producer Bruce Eric Kaplan will be moving on to work on his own new project for HBO; he’ll be replaced by Paul Simms. Interestingly, Girls will start production on the new season on the soundstage that was occupied by Alec Baldwin’s soon-to-depart 30 Rock.

Girls’ second season airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.

If there’s one thing that can be said about HBO’s Girls, it’s that it pulls out all the stops when it comes to its character’s relationships, exploring feelings and even sex onscreen in a pretty frank manner. Now, HBO has released a featurette with an oddly artsy introduction sequence that takes a look at what the guys in Girls will be up to in Season 2, and it comes as no surprise that relationships will play a key role in most of the dudes storylines.

Lena Dunham hosts the interview chat, called “Guys on Girls.” Mostly, she spends some time talking to her character Hannah’s onscreen boyfriend last season, played by Adam Driver. However, The New Normal’s Andrew Rannells and a few of the other boys in the Season 2 cast pop up, as well. One of them even exhibits a manly ability to snatch a fly right out of the air without crushing it. It’s impressive, and has absolutely nothing to do with HBO’s hit comedy.

HBO’s always strongly in favor of promoting the network’s original programming, and Season 2 of Girls has been no exception. The subscription cable network has already released several photos for Season 2, and if you are looking for more of a teaser trailer than an offstage Q & A, TV Blend has that available for fans, as well.

Girls returns to HBO’s schedule on January 13 at 9 p.m. ET.

Perhaps not the best marketing strategy but certainly an apt title for the series, this week's episode of Girls is called "Leave Me Alone." When the HBO comedy from Lena Dunham debuted, there was a moment when the network might have made this their battling cry, debating the notion that 'all press is good press' because, let's face it, things got unusually ugly there for a while. Well, the hubbub about Girls has settled and everyone seems focused solely on the actual show (which is very good) just in time for the first season to come to a close.

There are only two episodes remaining after last week's "Weirdos Need Girlfriends Too," an episode that reigned in the more free, fun and funny show in "Bushwick" to return Dunham's series to its more familiar awkwardness. I would say that the men in "Weirdos Need Girlfriends Too" played a significant role in returning the cringe to Girls - usually something Hannah can accomplish all on her own - with Adam, well, being Adam and Chris O'Dowd turning in a hilariously desperate guest turn.

This week's teaser for "Leave Me Alone" already showcased a few of the second last episode's plot lines as well as guest stars Kathryn Hahn (returning), Michael Imperioli and Jenny Slate. These two new clips for tonight's show ignore the former's return and the implications that creates for Jessa (will she return to work with the 'girls' despite the awkwardness with the father?) but the latter two figure prominently in "Hannah Thing To Do." The clip has Hannah at some kind of school function where she encounters the 'successful but bad' writer and former classmate Slate as well as Imperioli's former professor who not only always championed Hannah's work but was also one of her college girl crushes.

In "Bushwick," we saw Ray getting his groin massaged by Shoshanna but unfortunately neither of them (two of my favorite characters) made an appearance in last Sunday's episode. Thanks to this week's preview we know that Shoshanna is also back for "Leave Me Alone" (and doing some online dating?) but this second clip, "A Slim Leg," is focused on Ray and a semi-enigmatic conversation he's having with Hannah. I'm not quite sure what he's doing in that basement bunker of sorts but I think he's training Hannah for work at the Cafe? Something like that? Either way, a white dress won't do for whatever he has in store for our leading lady. A trip to American Apparel wouldn't hurt. He's a dick, but I like him.

Girls airs Sundays at 10:30 p.m. ET on HBO. It stars Lena Dunham, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet and Allison Williams. From executive producer Judd Apatow, Girls was created by Lena Dunham.

The new single-camera dramedy from HBO called Girls got a feature film-like premiere last night in New York City. It seems a bit odd for a TV series to have a big premiere event but, since the series was also being screened at film festivals like SWSW, it's not really surprising that the network went this route. Also, HBO is inherently cinematic anyway and that, on top of the feature film talent involved, makes a strong case to showcase their new series with an extravagant debut.

Okay, perhaps it wasn't that extravagant but it did look like a lot of fun (some photos can be found on the HBO Girls Facebook page) and totally in keeping with Dunham's tone, style and sense of humour. Namely, a fitting way to announce the young filmmakers transition into television with Girls. Another added bonus of the series getting the NYC premiere was that HBO was able to draw more attention to the actual (and super promising) show by creating celebrity buzz and, more importantly, releasing a new extended trailer. Take a look.

Even though all the spots rely way too much on The Naked and Famous' "All Of This," the extended trailer, in many ways a mash-up of most of what we've seen before, continues to give me confidence in Girls, confidence only spurred by good news pouring out of the NYC premiere last night (not to mention the initial praise from SXSW). I especially love the tagline, "Living the dream. One mistake at a time, " and how you can sense that these four women (or girls, I guess) are already completely fleshed out and complicated characters. I mean, I could already kind of sense their different personalities and the conflicts that would arise between them just from the excellent first poster.

Writer, director and actor Lena Dunham made a name for herself in the indie film world with Tiny Furniture while the other three 'girls' are Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet and Allison Williams, perhaps best known for being in TF or the daughter of David Mamet or Brian Williams. Good genes.

Girls debuts Sunday, April 15 at 10:30 p.m. ET on HBO.

One of the most exciting new shows coming to HBO is Girls. For those unfamiliar with Lena Dunham, ("the voice of a generation, well, a voice of a generation") she's the writer-director behind Tiny Furniture as well as the actress, well, in front in of it. The film was so well received that for it's home video release (on February 14) it headed straight for the prestigious Criterion Collection. Now Dunham is set to make her television debut with Girls, a new half-hour comedy for HBO that premieres this spring.

This invitation to the set of Girls is significantly longer and more in-depth than the first two teases and gives us a chance to see the young auteur at work as well as hear the obvious respect that acclaimed producer has for Dunham. Set in the ever-expensive New York City, Girls follows a group of young professional women who have more book smarts than world experience - a cast that includes Dunham, Allison Williams and Angelic Zambrana. I don't imagine that the HBO half hour comedy is too high-concept or plot heavy, more a slice of life look at ("terrible awkward real life experiences") this particular subsection of women struggling in the big city with the stories from week to week emerging organically from the characters and real world situations.

After this 'set visit' the mumblecore comedy couldn't be any more appealing and I'm not even in the core demographic. Or maybe I am. Hm. Time to reevaluate. Some subject matter might leave the less secure men squirming but well, that's got to be part of the fun for the Girls. The show debuts Sunday, April 15 on HBO. It stars Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Angelic Zambrana and Chris Eigeman. It was created by Lena Dunham and executively produced by Judd Apatow.
