In its prime, Boy Meets World was one of the must-see comedies from ABC's TGIF Block in the 1990s and would later spawn a sequel series following Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga's (Danielle Fishel) daughter, Riley (Rowan Blanchard) called Girl Meets World. Futurama (1999-Present)

Creator Matt Groening's animated satire about an average 20th Century man who wakes up from an accidental, 1000-year cryogenic slumber initially ran for just four seasons on Fox, was revived on Comedy Central from 2008 to 2013, and then, a decade later, became an exclusive on Hulu where it is more popular than ever. At this rate, it looks like Futurama might last well into the future.

Teen Wolf (2011-2017)

MTV's darker take on a funny coming-of-age creature feature from the '80s was a surprise hit, even as one of the best horror TV shows on Hulu in the years since it ended. The continued interest in the series on streaming would lead to a feature-length continuation that premiered on Paramount+ in early 2023.

iCarly (2007-2012, 2021-2023)

The Mindy Project (2012-2017)

Creator and star Mindy Kaling's first major follow-up after playing Kelly Kapoor in NBC's The Office cast was the aptly titled The Mindy Project, in which she plays an OB/GYN struggling to balance her personal and professional life. It premiered on Fox, where it remained for three seasons, before moving exclusively to Hulu for the latter half of its run.

Longmire (2012-2017)

Based on a series of novels by Craig Johnson, Longmire is a neo-Western drama starring Australian actor Robert Taylor as the titular Wyoming sheriff who brings his own brand of justice to his county. Despite debuting on A&E as the cable network's highest-rated original drama, it was not renewed for a fourth season, leading Netflix to step in and become its home for another three years.

Trailer Park Boys (2001-2018)

A show that Letterkenny fans would enjoy if they have not heard of it already is Trailer Park Boys — another comedy set in rural Canada which, for its first seven years, aired on a channel exclusive to the country called Showcase. A newfound interest in the documentary-style series and its feature-length spin-offs in the United States led Netflix to acquire the show in 2012, lasting several more seasons and even spawning more specials and an animated series.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008-2020)

Before a new Star Wars TV show premiered on Disney+ every few months or so, one of the most beloved small-screen titles to come from a galaxy far, far away was Star Wars: The Clone Wars. However, the Force initially could have been stronger with this one as it was canceled by Cartoon Network in 2013 before gaining newfound popularity on Netflix (where a new season was distributed) the following year and, later, getting revived for one more batch of episodes on DIsney+ in 2020.

Parks And Recreation (2009-2015)

Despite being the brainchild of The Office producers Greg Daniels and Michael Schur and starring former SNL cast member Amy Poehler in the lead, Parks and Recreation struggled to find its footing on NBC for its first couple of years. The mockumentary-style political satire got a bit of a boost in popularity once it dropped on Netflix and, for years after it ended, earned a reputation as one of the most popular series on the platform.

White Collar (2009-2014)

The show that made a star out of actor Matt Bomer is White Collar, in which he stars as a suave professional criminal who works with the FBI to catch other cons like him. Like many other USA original series, the dramedy was a much bigger hit on Netflix than it was during its initial run on the network.

Designated Survivor (2016-2019)

Kiefer Sutherland stars in Designated Survivor as the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, who is suddenly appointed President after everyone in the chain of command above him is killed in a catastrophic attack. The political drama was canceled after only two years on ABC but would go on for one more season on Netflix.

The Shoresy Cast Picks Their Favorite Episode From Season 3, And I Couldn't Agree More

Warning: spoilers ahead for Shoresy, Season 3, Episode 4 are ahead.

It's not always the case that a spin-off show can live up to its original inspiration, but that is definitely the case with Shoresy, the streaming-child of Hulu and Crave TV's Letterkenny. The 2024 TV schedule is a little more than halfway through and the third season of Shoresy, and its delighting both fans and cast members alike, with one episode in particular really letting the crew from Sudbury let loose.

When the cast was asked by CinemaBlend's Katie Hughes about their favorite episodes of the season, Episode 4 was the one that stood out, and it's clear why. Blair Lamora, who plays Ziig, went on to talk about the infamous celebration installment, saying:

Such like a cool it was like fun to do it because, obviously, everybody involved, we know why we're there. We're having a good time. Everybody's allowing themselves to have a good time and it shows. And I think it just makes the turnaround from that episode so much happier. And I think it's great.

The cast was definitely letting themselves have a good time. The episode shows the Blueberry Bulldogs go harder than we have ever seen before, with a massive pool party, more ridiculous words and phrases, some drug use (which leads to an explanation about their bizarre haircuts), and even our first fight between Shoresy and coach Sanger.

When Nat tells the team, "There is only one rule. You have fun. You guys have the bus all night to safely take you anywhere," we knew that there was a 100% chance we would see the best team in the league (and now the best team league ever) really cut loose. And they clearly answered the message with a Texas-sized 10-4.

Ryan McDonell, who plays Michaels, followed up about what it was like to film the episode, stating:

Also like, yeah, it was just a different flavor for the show, you know what I mean? Like, like I was saying before, like how there's different things. Like this was kind of a different vibe, a little bit like in the party mode. … It was just a little bit of an adventure this way for a little bit. And it's so fun. And then we come right back and yeah, Bob's your uncle.

The show, and Episode 4 in particular do look like a ton of fun for the cast to create. While both Letterkenny and Shoresy are heavily scripted and not improvised, it's unclear just how many of the crazy party shots we saw were planned out and which parts were simply real people having a real good time. Ryan McDonnell went on to sum up the experience:

That's my favorite episode we've shot so far, is Season 3, Episode 4. Yeah, that was fun.

Hopefully, with the success of Shoresy, we will see some other characters from the Letterkenny universe get their own spinoff shows so the heartfelt, Ted Lasso-like shenanigans can continue.

How The Shoresy Cast Feels About The Ted Lasso Comparisons, And Being ‘A Lot Raunchier And Punchier’

When Shoresy premiered in 2022, Ted Lasso was at the height of its powers and in between Seasons 2 and 3. Now, the Apple TV+ soccer comedy is over (seemingly), and the Letterkenny spinoff has just premiered its third season on the 2024 TV schedule, and people are talking about what these shows have in common. While there are some pretty obvious commonalities between them, which the cast of Shoresy acknowledged, they also told CinemaBlend how their show is “a lot raunchier and punchier.”

When CinemaBlend’s Katie Hughes asked the cast of the Letterkenny spinoff about their hockey show being compared to the Emmy-winning comedy from Jason Sudeikis, they didn’t shy away from it. In fact, Tasya Teles, who plays Nat, agreed with it as she told us:

Shoresy’s a lot raunchier and punchier for sure, which is kind of true of hockey maybe within the sports world, that it's an edgier game. It's a harder game with the skates, and the fighting and the ice. It's just, you know, different energy all together. But I remember Jared [Keeso] telling me that he was like, ‘I want to make hockey players cry.’ And I remember being like, ‘Okay…’ He said that in the second season, and I had no idea where he was going with that. And then finally in Season 3, I started to understand more. I feel like this season you really see inside his mind of where he wants to take the show.

While Ted Lasso’s hilarious lines are countless, the soccer comedy’s heartwarming moments also stacked up across three seasons, and the same can be said about Shoresy. The more we learned about Jared Keeso’s titular character and his team, the deeper it gets. As Teles said, they’ve made a show with a big heart that’s also hilarious, and while it's significantly “edgier” than Jason Sudeikis’ project, it’s understandable why they’re being compared.

When Keilani Elizabeth Rose, who plates Miigwan, answered the question, she spoke about Keeso’s performance specifically, noting how committed he is to the role:

I feel like [Jared Keeso] really doesn't hold back. And I think that's what shows, and that's what people really resonate with. Like the story about him pulling out his tooth because that's how committed he is to this character and this, you know, element of being a hockey player. And you can feel that in everything that he delivers and everything that he offers to all of us to like, bring us together to create this story. And I feel like, I mean, yeah, it shows up in rowdiness and it shows up in heart and it shows up in so many ways.

This does speak to a major difference between Ted Lasso and Shorsey, seeing as the titular characters are wildly different, however, it also calls out a similarity. Jason Sudeikis plays Ted in a way that is three-dimensional and wholly committed, it’s not a one-dimensional bit. While extreme at times, he’s also super grounded and brings so much heart to the coach of AFC Richmond. The entire Ted Lasso cast does this, honestly, and so does the ensemble of Shoresy.

Obviously, the nature of hockey is more extreme than soccer, but, they’re both team sports that require a group to come together despite their differences and work toward victory as one. Both shows bring a whole host of personalities together beautifully and they track a team that goes from losing to winning.

However, when it comes to those personalities and the nuances of both sports, that’s where you’ll find the biggest differences in these shows, as Michaels actor Ryan McDonell said:

Well, Lasso is its own kind of show. But I think, like, where people might find those commonalities, like, is the group the large dynamic of the team and like, you know, seeing yourself in like those groups and coaches and staff. So yeah, there's similarities in a way. But, you know, we're very specific into the hockey. You know, they're very specific into the soccer. And those are very, very different sports, you know. So we're different things, a little more vulgar perhaps.

“Vulgar” is right. Roy Kent from Ted Lasso – who actually has so much in common with the titular character, Shoresy, especially when it comes to their career trajectories – might drop f-bombs left and right and Jamie Tartt can be quite “raunchy.” However, if you want the raunch kicked into high gear, watch Shoresy.

Overall though, these two shows as a whole tell emotional and funny stories about a team of characters that we’ve really grown to love the longer we get to know them. We see them struggle and find victory, and going on that relatable rollercoaster with them is what makes these shows great. As McDonnell said:

Comedy happens in life, whether it's, you know, like pain or emotional things. Like so this happens to be a comedy, but there's, you know, there's a lot of real things that are happening. And I think that's what people latch onto for sure.

Both shows share universal themes, and they use comedy and heart to depict them. I’d like to leave you with Teles comments regarding that and the journey the characters on Shoresy go on across three seasons:

And I think, you know, both the Ted Lasso and Shoresy, their success lies in talking about the stories of the players, you know, behind and everything that they go through to push their team to achieve great things. And that's the heart that's universal, that whether you play soccer or hockey or whatever sport, you know, we can all kind of identify with and connect to that.

I think people love both these shows because it’s so wonderful to see individuals grow into their potential and find great success as a team. While there are blatant differences between Shoresy and Ted Lasso, their hearts (among other things) are silly and similar, and we love them both dearly for it.

You’re watching Letterkenny with your Hulu subscription the other dayee when it really starts to hit you that we have seen the last of this hilariously unique phenomenon. Creators and stars Jared Keeso and Jacob Tierney’s hit comedy about a rural Canadian town dropped its twelfth and final season in 2023, ending a fruitful era with eccentric characters of a diverse “ply,” intense fisticuffs, and rapid-fire dialogue you would need a special glossary to keep up with.

To be fair (to be fairrrrrrrrrr), just because the Letterkenny cast took their final bow does not mean you need to get all gutty about it, as you could rewatch the best episodes of Letterkenny or its spin-offs any time and, not to mention, there are plenty of other great sitcoms a fan would likely give a Texas-size 10-4 to. So, pitter-patter, let’s get our choices for shows like Letterkenny, and learn how to watch them.

100. Bewitched

You know a show is a classic when even Marvel is drawing inspiration from it nearly 50 years after its end. The fantasy sitcom Bewitched worked its magic at CBS for eight seasons, partially due to the phenomenal comedic acting of Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York, who was famously replaced by Dick Sargent due to York's worsening health issues. Add in an equally impressive ensemble cast including Agnes Moorehead, David White, and Paul Lynde (just to name a few), and it's no wonder Bewitched was a nose-twitching delight of a show that doesn't need supernatural abilities to be great.

99. Laverne and Shirley

Arguably the most successful Happy Days spinoff, as well as one of the best TV comedies of all time, Laverne & Shirley followed two best friends and bottle-cappers as they navigated life and everything it threw at them in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (later Burbank, California). Though similar in tone to its predecessor, this long-running sitcom relied more on the physical comedy talents masterfully pulled by stars Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams. 98. Beavis And Butt-Head

No Beavis And Butt-Head fan will argue that the show isn’t dumb. Because it is. It really, really is, in each of its iterations. The two eponymous characters rank as two of the most unambiguously stupid protagonists to ever grace a TV screen, and every word they say is unadulterated idiocy. Ironically, though, that’s the genius of Mike Judge’s creation. The impossibly dumb leads allow for stories that no other sitcom can reasonably or responsibly touch with any degree of verisimilitude, while also permitting some outrageously weird takes on music videos (and social clips) across various eras.

97. Hogan's Heroes

War stories are often suited for prestige dramas, but Hogan's Heroes proved that a P.O.W. camp comedy could be just as awards-worthy. During its 168-episode run, Bob Crane's titular leader and his squad constantly thwarted Nazi enemies with fast-talking and constant hijinks (many of which were put into play by future game show legend Richard Dawson). Lasting as long as World War II did itself, Hogan's Heroes showcased how reflecting on past tragedies with humor can make for memorable art.

96. How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother may be higher on this list if not for fan opinions of the final season, but I would 100% say that it’s worth watching despite a lackluster ending. This show is about finding out how Josh Radnor’s Ted met his future wife, but it really thrives as a series about best friends. As Neil Patrick Harris’ Barney Stinson would say, this ensemble is legen–wait for it–dary, and those who check it out will definitely be invested in what the cast is doing now that the series is over.

Today we all know what an immense talent Robin Williams was, and the absolutely wild places he could take comedy. Imagine not knowing any of that, and then turning on an early episode of Mork & Mindy, where he must have come across quite like somebody from another world, much like the character he played. Mork from Ork gave Williams the freedom to do almost anything on screen opposite Pam Dawber’s Mindy (and later Jonathan Winters), and it’s no surprise he took over Hollywood after four successful seasons.

Plenty of shows focus on the weirdness of suburbia, but Nickelodeon’s The Adventures of Pete & Pete still stands awkwardly as one of the best. As Older Pete (Michael Maronna) and Younger Pete (Danny Tamberelli) navigate the oddities of Wellsville, life lessons and warm memories are gifted to viewers by creators Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi. Pete & Pete delivers its homespun tales with a deep-seated love of ‘50s and ‘60s pop culture, and with one of the more impressive celebrity guest star rosters of kid-centric TV. Watching Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross’ Andre and Rainbow Johnson raise their family amidst navigating various challenges in and around their largely white-populated neighborhood, all while still hanging onto their Black identities, makes for eight seasons of exceptional sitcom storytelling. While black-ish went on to launch two spinoffs, the original still stands as the cream of the crop, expertly balancing pointed social commentary and humor regarding a variety of topics, racial and otherwise. Plus, TV grandfather-dom looks great on Laurence Fishburne.

What happens when a family largely modeled after Universal’s Classic Monsters takes up residence in the middle of suburban America’s Mockingbird Heights? You get The Munsters, which slotted in nicely among other comedic offerings in the ‘60s while also satirizing sitcom tropes of the era. Although Fred Gwynne’s bumbling patriarch Herman was often the driving force behind the weekly shenanigans, Lily, Grandpa, Eddie and Marilyn (the only “normal” looking one) were all far more endearing than their monstrous counterparts, making The Munsters a great platform for chaotic, yet heartfelt entertainment.

Best friends are always good sitcom fodder, as David Caspe’s Happy Endings proved for three seasons on ABC ahead of its fan-angering cancellation. Damon Wayans Jr.’s cucumber-cool Brad and Eliza Coupe’s A-type Jane are the group’s PDA-friendly couple, while her sister, Elisha Cuthbert’s confusion-prone Alex, is exes-ish with Zachary Knighton’s dorky-smooth Dave. The group is rounded out by Adam Pally’s schlubbo-sexual Max and Casey Wilson’s serial dater Penny. Perhaps the only sitcom whose leads share a fictional history as Real World vets, Happy Endings is as fun and fancy-free as romance-fueled sitcoms get.

90. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Less than two years after Ellie Kemper played Erin Hannon for the last time on The Office, she sunshine-smiled her way through a bonkers show of her own with Netflix’s original Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The series, which centered on former cult member Kimmy’s surreal and gung-ho acclimation to life in a “real” world she hadn’t lived in for years. One of the more unique shows from creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, Kimmy could have made this list just for turning the multi-talent Tituss Burgess into a small-screen regular. Extra kudos for the follow-up movie Kimmy vs the Reverend.

89. That '70s Show

Starring Topher Grace and running for eight seasons from 1998-2006, That ‘70s Show transports any generational audience who watches back to the late 1970s for the horned-up (and oh-so-slightly drugged-up) exploits of high school besties and their respective parents. The teens were played by actors who would go on to become bona fide stars, including Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Wilmer Valderrama, and Laura Prepon. The Circle in Eric’s basement was always reliable for big laughs, and though its final season suffered from cast exits, Netflix’s That ‘90s Show kept the good times going far more successfully than That ‘80s Show.

88. Extras

Ricky Gervais and Steven Merchant followed up on the smash success of The Office by crossing the ocean to HBO for the Hollywood-skewing riot Extras, which hinged on the fraught character trifecta of Gervais’ dispirited actor Andy, his god-awful agent Darren (Merchant) and his kind-hearted and oblivious actress BFF Maggie (Ashley Jensen). While only two seasons and a Christmas special, it’s a modern classic not only for its gloriously cornball faux sitcom When the Whistle Blows, but for bonkers celebrity cameos from Kate Winslet, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan and more. Gervais also delivers an all-time Top 5 spit-take in one episode.

87. The Bernie Mac Show

The late Bernie Mac is still widely viewed as a comedy giant, and his eponymous family sitcom is a major reason for that. The Bernie Mac Show definitely isn’t the first comedy to be headlined by a stand-up, but it’s one of the few that so perfectly utilized the talents of its lead. Mac’s signature brand of no-nonsense humor is especially hilarious when he bounces off his A+ co-stars. But, overall, what makes this series one of the great modern Black sitcoms is its funny, warm and nuanced depiction of familial dynamics amongst African Americans.

86. Gilligan's Island

Before The Brady Bunch (but after The Red Skelton Show), screenwriter and producer Sherwood Schwartz launched 1964's smash-hit Gilligan's Island, and the fictional voyage was far more doomed than the show's. Starring Bob Denver and Alan Hale, the sitcom won over viewers with plots hinged on island inventions, unexpected visitors, dream sequences, and random items washing up ashore. While the show famously never hit one hundred episodes, its premise was beloved enough to spark several TV movies and the truly baffling Saturday morning cartoon spinoff Gilligan's Planet.

85. Mad About You

Chemistry is usually all it takes to keep a sitcom afloat, whether its shared by an ensemble (see: Friends) or tethered to a winning duo like Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt in Mad About You. It helps that both actors lent their movie-level wattage to the sitcom for eight seasons, exploring marriage and eventually parenthood in New York City. (Reiser previously co-starred in My Two Dads, to be sure.) But despite the parade of stellar comedic co-stars — Hank Azaria, Lisa Kudrow, Carol Burnett, and Mel Brooks? Come on! — it was Paul and Jamie keeping us invested. We were mad about them, and maybe a different kind of mad about Mabel.

84. Three's Company

Three’s Company is an interesting case-study in dated sitcom writing, as 90% of the jokes that prop up the show wouldn’t fly today. Almost every single line can be construed as sexual innuendo, and the plot twists of a given Three’s Company episode are so driven by silly miscommunications, the formula is basically cliche. However, John Ritter’s deep reservoir of charm, when combined with his incredible chemistry with the female roommates that came in and out of his orbit, made it an overall win, and one of the most memorable and breezy sitcoms of the 1970s and ‘80s.

83. Family Guy

What can be said about Family Guy that hasn’t already been said? While Seth MacFarlane’s first mega-hit doesn’t feel quite as crude as other late night animated fare these days, it quickly cemented itself as an envelope-pushing primetime entry thanks to its murderous baby, they hyper-perverse Quagmire, and the less said about Herbert, the better. The series made a meme-worthy artform out of cutaway gags, man vs. chicken fights and lowbrow pop culture spoofs. At this point, the Griffins are basically as widespread as the Simpsons, and Brian would certainly drink to that.

82. Malcolm In The Middle

Malcolm in the Middle was a key part of Fox’s Sunday comedy lineup for six of its seven seasons from 2000-2006. At the time, the Frankie Muniz-starring comedy was a rare example of a single-camera sitcom that eschewed a laugh track and had its lead regularly breaking the fourth wall. The family was known to deal with serious issues in the background of the shenanigans of the sibling trio, which helped the sitcom win seven Emmys. It was also Bryan Cranston’s breakout primetime TV role, proving he was a comedy legend years before dipping into drama for Breaking Bad.

81. The Facts Of Life

A spinoff of Diff’rent Strokes, The Facts of Life is one of the most successful TV offshoots that shares little with its predecessor, and for good reason. The coming-of-age sitcom explores adolescence in a way that neither its predecessor nor follow-up projects ever could, with a perfectly cast ensemble of young actresses led by the incomparable Charlotte Rae. This sitcom exists because of Rae’s previously stellar work, and her warmth and charm in the role of Mrs. Garrett helped make a family out of her girls, from Natalie to Tootie to Jo to Blair and the rest.

80. The Addams Family

Although The Addams Family started off as a single-panel New Yorker comic strip published from 1938 to 1964, it was the TV series premiering that same latter year which made the family a pop culture favorite. Watching Morticia, Gomez, Uncle Fester, Wednesday, Pugsley, Grandmama, Lurch and Thing freak people out with their macabre tastes and supernatural antics never got old, and without the popularity of this show, it’s doubtful these ghoulish characters would have returned in a variety of live-action and animated projects in later years.

79. My Name Is Earl

My Name Is Earl earned its way to sitcom greatness thanks to star Jason Lee’s all-in performance as Earl Hickey, as well as the great premise that sees Earl attempting to right the litany of past wrongs committed against seemingly everyone he’d ever met. (The concept also helps make it easy to drop in on any random episode without really needing to see what happened beforehand.) Ethan Suplee, Eddie Steeples and Jaime Pressley are equally brilliant in their respective roles, and we can still relate to Earl to this day anytime we struggle to keep our eyes open while taking a picture.

78. The Middle

Every once in awhile, a show sneaks it way into the zeitgeist and in our memories. The Middle, a show about a quirky middle-class family from the Midwest ran for nine years and hit home for a wide and nostalgic audience. It was a breath of fresh air and an honest take on class and what it was really like to grow up in, well, “the middle” of everything. Ironically, it was the ending of the show that stuck with most, but all good things must come to an end.

77. Dave

This whole entry could be spent talking about how Dave is driven by the exceptional talent of David “Lil Dicky” Burd, who has a truly offbeat world perspective to go along with his legitimate gifts as a rapper. But that would be a disservice to Davionte "GaTa" Ganter, who proves over the course of the three seasons to be the NSFW series’ true heart. It gets funny and ridiculous, but it can also deliver a nice, solid gut punch courtesy of your investment in the characters’ plights for recognition.

76. Spin City

Arguably TV's least polarizing political sitcom, Spin City was a winning candidate for its six-season term in part due to co-creators Bill Lawrence and Gary David Goldberg. The latter also created Family Ties, and brought Michael J. Fox into the lead role here as well, with Charlie Sheen successfully taking over in Season 5 after Fox's medical-related exit Spin City is also a melting pot of TV excellence, boasting Connie Britton, Carla Gugino, Richard Kind, Alan Ruck and more greats filling out the NYC mayor’s office.

75. The Andy Griffith Show

One of the most iconic and wholesome sitcoms of the 20th century, The Andy Griffith Show gave audiences nearly 250 episodes with the residents of the fictional town of Mayberry, North Carolina, centering on local sheriff Andy Taylor, played with aw-shucks charm by Griffith. Characters like Barney Fife (Don Knotts), Gomer Pyle (Jim Nabors), Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier), and Opie (a young Ron Howard) made for plenty of the early highlights in sitcom history, both in black-and-white and color.

74. Family Matters

Airing for nine seasons from 1989-1997, Family Matters became a beloved sitcom for multiple generations regularly tuning into ABC’s TGIF lineup. The spinoff of Perfect Strangers followed the highs and lows of the Winslow family, with Die Hard vet Reginald VelJohnson becoming an iconic sitcom dad as Carl Winslow. Of course, Jaleel White’s Steve Urkel famously stole the spotlight as the nerd-tastic breakout star, sporting the signature “Did I do that?” catchphrase. Yes, he certainly did, if by “that” he meant annoying his unrequited love Laura or creating alternate versions of himself via sitcom science.

73. The Wonder Years

The Wonder Years aired from 1988-1993, but very fathfully recreated the late ‘60s and early ‘70s to invite audiences into the lives of the Arnold family. Starring Fred Savage in his breakout role (alongside fellow greats Dan Lauria, Alley Mills, and Danica McKellar), the coming-of-age comedy touched on Vietnam War politics, high school romance, deaths of loved ones, sibling rivalries and more, with Daniel Stern's narration a key source of its charm and emotional heft. From using Joe Cocker’s unforgettable “With a Little Help from My Friends” to its powerful-yet-unplanned finale, it’s no wonder that this classic eventually inspired a reboot.

72. The Flintstones

The Flintstones is arguably the first animated project to prove itself as much of a classic sitcom as anything in live-action. Premiering back in 1960 and running for six wildly successful seasons, the sitcom follows the titular family within a fictional and idealized version of the Stone Age. Its popularity kept it airing in syndication for decades,later inspiring spinoffs, live-action movies, TV specials, ice cream pops, and (of course) the most memorable vitamins down the medicine aisle.

71. The Proud Family

The Proud Family was one of the standout shows of ABC’s One Saturday Morning programming block, walking the line between cartoony kids show and legitimate family drama quite well. Disney+’s more recent Louder And Prouder revival is evidence of that popularity and storytelling skills. Kyla Pratt’s Penny Proud is as relatable a TV teen as can be, and Sugar Mama (voiced by Family Matters’ Jo Marie Payton) is the kind of grandmother anyone would appreciate, sans bodyslams.

70. The Drew Carey Show

Long before he became host of The Price is Right, Drew Carey jumped from standup comedy to sitcom stardom with The Drew Carey Show, which ran for nine increasingly zany seasons from 1995-2004. The comedian starred as a fictionalized version of himself living in Ohio, working at a mundane job surrounded by a core group of friends with hijinks to spare. (Particularly during the A+ April Fool’s Day episodes.) This was the first big scripted TV role for cast members like Christa Miller, Diedrich Baker, Ryan Stiles, Craig Ferguson, and John Carroll Lynch. Hopefully fans can agree with the show on one thing: Cleveland Rocks!

69. Designing Women

If watching four sassy, professional ladies flourish, flounder, and tell it like it is sounds like something you can get behind, then look no further than Designing Women. The comedy starred the all-time great cast of Dixie Carter, Young Sheldon’s Annie Potts, Delta Burke and Hacks star Jean Smart as co-workers sharing their personal and professional trials and triumphs to side-splitting effect over several seasons. Even better, the show managed to work in a lot of social commentary that’s still relevant today, and no one has ever taken down bullies and bigots like Carter’s Julia Sugarbaker.

68. Night Court

Many sitcoms can be vehicles for a single great comedian to shine, but the strength of the original Night Court was its ensemble. (And that sax-y theme.) Harry Anderson played de facto leader Judge Harry Stone alongside John Laroquette, Markie Post, Richard Moll and more, and the jury of TV audiences gave the verdict of Night Court being guilty of hilarity. Despite the fact that the show’s format could seem as formulaic as real-life courtroom dockets, silliness often ensued, and fans were happy to watch these talents play off each other for an enviable nine-season run. Its popularity endures with Melissa Rauch’s 2023 revival.

67. The Honeymooners

TV shows have a way of changing the pop culture landscape by being quotable, and The Honeymooners is one of the earliest sitcoms whose influence is definitely still felt in that category, with “One of these days Alice…” and “To the moon!” persisting so many decades later. The all-time classic follows two New York City couples and the various shenanigans they get into, with Ralph and Alice famously played by Jackie Gleason and Audrey Meadows, respectively. And while the empty threats of domestic violence might be jarring for newcomers, The Honeymooners significantly set the stage for so many sitcoms to follow.

66. Raising Hope

Wacky isn’t always a word that comes up when discussing family sitcoms, but Raising Hope fits that description to a T. The Chance family is filled with more lovable and well-meaning weirdos than you’d think could possibly fit into half-hour eps, but they all have their odd (and potentially relatable) quirks. From dad Burt (who picks his nose by using all 10 fingers), to matriarch Maw Maw (who can frequently be found shirtless and/or braless and giving off old people smells), you’d be hard-pressed to land on an episode that doesn’t make you choke on your big dill pickle.

65. Fresh Off The Boat

Everyone loves a good family sitcom, and while Fresh Off the Boat is technically about the young, hip-hop-obsessed son within a Taiwanese-American family in Orlando, the real comedic meat of the show is his mom, Jessica (Constance Wu). We’ve never seen a mom like Jessica Huang before. Yes, she’s loving, but it’s an absurdly tough, uncompromising love that pushes her nice, America-loving husband and three sons to excel. She’s also fiercely competitive and not someone to mess with, which diners-and-dashers can attest to, and is a big reason why Fresh Off the Boat will always be watchable.

64. Everybody Hates Chris

Abbott Elementary fans can attest to Tyler James Williams’ comedic chops, but he first honed them from his younger Hollywood days as the star of Everybody Hates Chris. Created by Chris Rock (who narrates) and Ali LeRoi, the show is based on the stand-up legend’s teenage years, and finds ways of making everyday occurrences the most hilarious things in the world, often landing a wide-eyed Chris in trouble. From James’ impressive performance as a teenager to the rest of the cast (including a stellar Terry Crews’ dad mode), Everybody Hates Chris is a must-watch for comedy lovers of all ages.

63. Get Smart

Secret agent movies were big in the 1960s, so how could one go wrong with a spoof comedy series created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry? Get Smart stars Don Adams’ Maxwell Smart (aka the bumbling CONTROL Agent 86) often teaming up with Barbara Feldon’s more-than-capable sidekick, Agent 99, to thwart the evil, if not entirely professional, efforts of the cabal KAOS. From the series’ iconic opening credits to Max’s shoe phone, Get Smart stands the test of time, with some great catchphrases to boot, including “MIssed it by that much,” and, “Would you believe…?”

62. Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23

We sometimes wonder how well creator Nahnatchka Khan’s Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 would have fared if it lasted beyond its celebrated two-season run. And we wish we were given the chance to actually see that hypothetical third season for ourselves, as the 26 episodes we did get were spot on. Pairing Dreama Walker’s naive June with Krysten Ritter’s scheming Chloe made for an odd couple who knew how to have exciting adventures. Frequent appearances by an early-career Eric André and an always charming James Van Der Beek only made this ABC series all the sweeter.

61. Good Times

A quality sitcom spinoff can be a challenge. Repeat what worked on the original, or try to do something totally different? Good Times spun off from Maude (which itself was an All In The Family offshoot), and succeeded through carving out its own authentic niche centering around the hard-working and cash-strapped characters of Florida (Esther Rolle) and James Evans (John Amos). The two leads were excellent throughout, though Good Times eventually shifted its primary focus to Jimmie Walker, the sitcom’s breakout star who coined the phrase “Dynomite!” and rode that marketing freight train to global superstardom. A series that lives up to its name, and then some.

60. The Nanny

The Nanny has long been synonymous with its star Fran Drescher, who played the titular Nanny Fine throughout the show’s six-season run on CBS. Despite being a quintessential ‘90s sitcom, the show’s comedy still feels super fresh and contemporary, even if the pop culture references are dated. Descher is truly unbelievable as Fran, and The Nanny has one of the best TV theme songs of all time. And it’s a show that younger generations absolutely NEED to binge-watch, amidst the ongoing hope for fans to see more.

59. Archer

If Archer were merely an expertly crafted James Bond parody, we’d still love it. However, this long-running FX staple’s greatness comes from the lore-heavy, spy-fi universe that creator Adam Reed’s built atop the back of loving send-ups to the espionage subgenre. H. Jon Benjamin anchored an all-timer voice cast that delivered dialogue and performances as sharp as Lana’s switchblade. The show veered from staleness by aping different genres for Danger Island and other “Coma Seasons,” further widening the comedic field of play, and I can’t imagine anyone wouldn’t finger Archer as the wildest workplace sitcom to date. Phrasing, BOOM!

58. Happy Days

When one thinks of Happy Days, the first image that likely comes to mind is Henry Winkler’s Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli giving a cool-as-hell thumb’s up. Though he was initially just a minor player, the leather-donning jukebox-smacking ladie’s man quickly became the show’s most popular character. But its picturesque version of the 1950s and 1960s is just as iconic, as is the entire Cunnhingham family (except maybe for the disappearing brother Chuck) and further ensemble, which spawned a whopping seven spinoffs. And if you don’t agree with all that, well, sit on it!

57. Martin

A couple of years before he became an action movie king in Bad Boys, Martin Lawrence created and starred in his own sitcom, which gave fans five seasons of over-the-top episodes. Lawrence’s Martin Payne is a loud, rambunctious, and highly opinionated Detroit disc jockey who constantly finds himself in all kinds of trouble both at work and at home with Tisha Campbell’s Gina. (A dynamic that shifted in the final season for BTS reasons.) Martin himself was fun, but his various other personas —Sheneneh Jenkins, Rosco, and Dragonfly Jones — gave the sitcom a fun and unique spin, foreshadowing Lawrence’s later career.

56. Living Single

Living Single is one of those sitcoms that thankfully managed to age well , premiering back in 1993 and following a group of friends residing together in a Brooklyn brownstone. With a killer cast including Queen Latifah (who also performed the outstanding theme song), Kim Coles, Kim Fields and Erika Alexander, Living Single’s formula succeeded ahead of Friends reaching more sensational heights, and the topic of influences there has made for many discussions. Regardless, the sitcom is a Black TV treasure, and boasts a trove of terrific musicians, athletes and comedians as guest stars, from Flip Wilson to Chaka Khan.

55. Will and Grace

Will & Grace might as well have also had Jack and Karen in the title as well, such was the strength of this foursome as they unsuccessfully dated and schmoozed their way to making LGBTQ+ history. The NBC Must See TV classic was an Emmy darling during its initial eight-season run, and its ongoing popularity beyond the “final” season inspired NBC to revive it for another two seasons. Which thankfully meant more from the bevy of guests and recurring stars that popped up over the years, from Matt Damon to Matt Bomer to Madonna.

54. Murphy Brown

Sure, Murphy Brown fulfilled the sitcom basics of starring a single, middle-aged working woman (whose eventual single-mom status shook up the status quo), being funny, and serving up great characters — Jim Dial, slugger — to support the Aretha Franklin-loving titular lead. Arguably most important, though, its its rare delivery of a flawed female main character (recovering alcoholic) who’s frequently irascible, dedicated to her job as a journalist, and unafraid to speak up in a male-heavy industry, giving audiences every reason to root for through every uproarious rant and unnecessary assistant change. There’s a reason Candice Bergen earned five Emmys from seven nominations for her work across ten seasons.

53. The Bob Newhart Show

Nobody can do deadpan humor quite like the eponymous star of The Bob Newhart Show. The beauty of this 1970s sitcom was that it allowed Bob Newhart to play off of those stand-up comedy strengths, acting as the straight man to his psychologist Bob Hartley’s many unique patients. Co-starring Suzanne Pleshette as Bob’s beloved wife Emily — the two made sitcom history together on his next sitcom as well — and Peter Bonerz and Bill Daily as his pals, The Bob Newhart Show remains exemplary for its character-driven laughs.

52. Sanford And Son

The laughs that Sanford and Son delivers from episode to episode are fairly unique compared to other sitcoms. Redd Foxx and Demond Wilson are perfectly cast as Fred and Lamont Sanford, respectively, playing off of each other in ways reminiscent of comedy duos in vaudeville and radio shows. The writers also deserve a lot of credit for effectively employing racial humor, considered edgy at that time, as well as for bringing in hilarious characters like “Aunt” Esther Anderson and Grady Wilson. But Foxx – who just oozes superior comedic timing – steals so many scenes with his energetic performances. “This is the big one!”

51. Superstore

All things consumerism considered, it’s almost surprising so few workplace comedies are anything like Superstore. For six seasons, viewers watched Amy (Oscar nominee America Ferrera), Jonah (Ben Feldman) and their wacky big box store co-workers readily getting into myriad insane scrapes and intriguingly complicated relationships, while trying to maintain order (or causing disorder) within the retail sphere. Superstore gives fans peak workplace sitcom, with innumerable sight gags for those watching closely, as well as a low-key, slow-burn mystery involving feet showing up all over the store. It’s a hilarious win-win that theoretically helps everyone see their jobs aren’t as bad as they could be.

50. The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air

Before the Men in Black and Bad Boys franchises and that Academy Award-winning role in King Richard, Will Smith veered away from his successful rap career to introduce viewers to…Will Smith…for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Just saying its name instantly brings its classic theme song to mind.

Following a kid from West Philly sent off to live with his affluent uncle’s family in Bel-Air, this sitcom oozed ‘90s sitcom charm and hilarity, helping Will Smith expand his comedic talents opposite the great James Avery, Janet Hubert (for a spell) and more. From the Carlton dance to that classic “very special episode” where Will gets shot, Fresh Prince features plenty of justification for its continued success in syndication and streaming.

49. Family Ties

Eventually, Family Ties became known as “The Michael J. Fox Show,” and it was hard to avoid. Fox was a charismatic ball of energy who became a bona fide superstar during the run of the show, and even eclipsed famous guest stars such as Tom Hanks when they appeared.

But before Fox reached all-star status, Family Ties won over audiences as a warm, endearing, and relatable sitcom about liberal parents trying their best to raise their three kids – one of whom happened to be a briefcase-toting, card-carrying Republican. We all saw ourselves in at least one member of the Keaton family, and tuned in weekly to appreciate the ties that bound them all together.

48. Mr. Bean

Rowan Atkinson would have been amazing during the silent film era, but is thankfully a more modern talent, since we otherwise might never have known the childlike, frustration-spiked foibles of Mr. Bean. Co-created by the comedian’s Black Adder partners in hilarity, Ben Elton and Richard Curtis, Mr. Bean is an idiosyncratic sitcom in that its five-year stretch comprised 15 sporadically aired one-off episodes, as opposed to seasons, which inspired a pair of feature films, an animated series, and more pop culture greatness.

Atkinson brings his physical comedy mastery to a plethora of disaster-laden circumstances, from nonchalantly changing into a swimsuit to getting ready for the dentist while driving to being locked out of a hotel room and dozens of other awkward moments.

47. The Mick

Only two seasons of The Mick aired between January 2017 and April 2018, telling the story of a foul-mouthed dirtbag forced to be the guardian of her affluent niece and nephews, and all 37 episodes are send-you-doubled-over-off-your-couch hilarious. Which means a lot of people were sleeping on this brilliance when it aired, and we’re still sore about it.

Led by Kaitlin Olsen, the entire cast is spectacular (with a special hat tip to the brilliant Scott MacArthur as the oft-injured ne'er-do-well Jimmy), but what truly makes this show exceptional is its beyond-dark sensibilities and unwillingness to accept the idea of a “line” that can’t be crossed. The final scene of the series finale is actually a perfect ending in that sense, and we’re sure that more seasons would have pushed it higher up the rankings.

46. The Jeffersons

Norman Lear & Co.nailed it when they moved George, Louise and Lionel Jefferson from All in the Family to their own show. The Jeffersons is 30-minute comedy at its finest, offering an excellent premise, and an array of interesting stories built on it. Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford are electric as George and Lousie, effortlessly conveying their on-screen marriage with warmth, humor and occasional contention, all while surrounded by a strong supporting cast.

There’s also the series’ impact on Black culture and the TV landscape as a whole. It’s one of the earliest shows to have depicted an upper class African American family – and the complexities of such a dynamic. We should all be grateful that these characters moved on up.

45. 30 Rock

If there were any doubts that Tina Fey could transport her magic touch from SNL to a scripted sitcom, 30 Rock proved them pointless. The show-within-a-show’s very first season won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, and scored nominations for Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. (Both went on to win elsewhere in the NBC comedy’s seven-season run.)

The show is infinitely quotable, thanks in large part to Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski, and recruited standout part-time stars ranging from Matt Damon to David Schwrimmer to – of course – Steve “How do you do, fellow kids?” Buscemi. Plus, it imparted the following important lesson from Tracy Jordan: “Live every week like it’s Shark Week.” No SNL knowledge is needed to appreciate the sketch-skewing humor, but it’ll help.

44. Scrubs

Hospital dramas have become as commonplace as any TV offering, so having Scrubs around to follow its doctors, nurses and Sacred Heart staff through a comedic lens continues to be a welcome respite. Not to say Scrubs wasn’t without its emotional and poignant moments, since one could argue it functions nearly as well as a dramatic series when in that mode.

But the humor is where Scrubs’ gets surgical with it. Whether we were joining J.D. in his wild daydreams, or the crazy events unfolding between characters while treating patients, this show excelled at delivering the laughs. If only we could witness John C. McGinley’s Dr. Cox ranting at residents while a nameless Janitor pranks people within a real-life hospital. Additionally, J.D. and Turk are one of TV’s all-time best-buddy pairings.

43. Bob's Burgers

In all of sitcom family-dom, few clans are as relatable in their middle-class weirdness as the Belcher family that serves up the titular meals and good-time goofiness on Bob’s Burgers. The beloved series from creator Loren Bouchard has followed sitcom standards to a T while building up its hilarity-filled universe of Italian restaurateur rivals, handyman besties, and plenty of schoolchildren I’d much rather watch on TV than deal with at home. But it’s the Belchers that keep us coming back.

From H. Jon Benjamin’s expertly exasperated attempts to get by to Louise’s rebellious sadism to Tina’s butt fascination, Bob’s Burgers is as timeless as the hamburger itself, and isn’t afraid to mix sweetness into the juvenile hijinks. A must-watch for pun enthusiasts.

42. The Cosby Show

Decades after its debut on NBC, The Cosby Show remains a seminal piece of TV work. This sharp family comedy offers a warm look at a family (who just happened to be Black) and, while the Huxtables are quite pristine, they never feel unrelatable, except perhaps where sweaters are concerned. The impeccable ensemble boasts the likes of Phylicia Rashad, Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Keshia Knight Pulliam masterfully playing off the series’ titular star. Give the writing staff credit, too, for formulating some eternally classic episodes, like “Goodbye Mr. Fish” and “Happy Anniversary.”

Of course, the show’s legacy has been further evaluated due to Bill Cosby’s legal entanglements, and understandably so. That debate will surely continue, though what’s hard to deny is the sitcom’s game-changing position in the cultural lexicon.

41. Party Down

“Are we having fun yet?” The oft-used sarcastic throwback to Henry’s (Adam Scott) singular professional achievement is actually a pretty fitting way to sum up the careers of the motley crew of caterers on Party Down. The aspiring actors and writers who comprise the eponymous catering company would certainly rather be pursuing their passions than serving drinks and apps to their rich customers, but with each episode plunking them into a different bougie event, it was delightful to see the ridiculous and usually cringey situations they would get themselves into.

On top of a fabulous ensemble cast featuring the likes of Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, Lizzy Caplan and Martin Starr, Party Down featured A+ cameos at each catering function. That Steve Guttenberg episode? Chef’s kiss, or at least a caterer’s kiss.

40. The Boondocks

We may never get another animated series about American society as unabashedly insightful as The Boondocks, which was created by Aaron McGruder and based on his comic strip of the same name. Each episode provides a thoughtful examination of the Black experience, principally seen through the eyes of young intellectual Huey Freeman and his gangster-wannabe brother Riley (both voiced by Oscar/Emmy Award-winner Regina King), under the spotty guidance of their John Witherspoon-voiced Granddad.

Not only does McGruder's bold writing provide clever observations about everything from rap music to movie theater decorum, but the anime style continues to remain eye-popping and brilliantly utilized. Especially with the killer kung-fu sequences, which demonstrate a deep love for both the animation medium and the martial arts action genre.

39. Abbott Elementary

Arguably one of the best sitcoms currently airing, Abbott Elementary took the world by storm when it premiered in 2021, introducing the world to Quinta Brunson’s brilliance as Janine Teagues. The Black Lady Sketch Show vet created, writes, produces and stars in the show centering on a Philadelphia school’s staff, and her care and love for it is infectious.

Between Gregory and Janine’s will-they-won’t-they relationship, hilarious talking heads and well-established characters with silly interests (like Ava being a doomsday prepper), this show has all the hallmarks of classic mockumentaries. However, its setting at an elementary school and the unique chemistry the incredible cast has developed make this ABC comedy one that will undoubtedly stand the test of time. (And it won’t need a stool like Janine, amirite, Ava?)

38. The IT Crowd

As if Graham Linehan’s entertainment legacy wasn’t already assured by Father Ted, the man went and crafted another all-time Britcom with The IT Crowd. (Okay, Black Books, too.) The basic premise follows the lives of corporate climber Jen (Katherine Parkinson) and IT department slackers Roy (Chris O’Dowd) and Moss (Richard Ayoade). A classic workplace sitcom trio if there ever was one.

In execution, the 25-episode run was far more fun and unpredictable than the set-up. Skewering corporate culture and malfeasance, as well as all things personal and pop, The IT Crowd feels like a cheeky mix between Seinfeld and Spaced. Not to mention this being a great place to get a Matt Berry fix.

37. Community

It’s difficult to summarize what makes Community such an exceptional sitcom. Its meta awareness and deep love of pop culture is a key ingredient, executed principally through the genius character that is Danny Pudi’s Abed Nadir. But that’s an example of the phenomenal way the show balances the unique voices of its seven main characters – be it the confident idiocy of Donald Glover’s Troy Barnes, the extreme selfishness of Joel McHale’s Jeff Winger, or ridiculous uptightness of Alison Brie’s Annie Edison.

These characters planted in an environment of ever-growing weirdness that is Greendale Community College permits wild, creative, and clever single episode stories… but also not to be slept on are its effective emotional swings (Like I said, it’s really Dean-ficult to sum up!)

36. Modern Family

Modern Family was one of the first family sitcoms to eschew studio audience laughter for the single-camera format, and its massive success and influence was undeniable. Running for eleven seasons, the star-studded sitcom gave viewers a front seat to watching the blended Pritchett and Dunphy families grow up together.

But what makes Modern Family one of the best sitcoms ever is its relatability and ability to tap into all the emotions. There’s plenty to laugh at, thanks to hilarious deliveries from Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell and others, and more episodes than can be poignant, whether it’s about love, sexuality, growing up, or plenty of other feelings to connect to.

35. Arrested Development

At the far end of the “wholesome sitcom family” spectrum is the Bluth clan responsible for the majority of the conning and downward spiraling on Arrested Development. (Ron Howard’s Narrator: “They really were.”) With too many A+ cast members to namecheck in one breath, the fourth wall-breaking comedy is technically about the legal troubles surrounding the family company following a major scandal, but it’s really about the family’s myriad other problems.

Let’s see, we have twin-fidelity, oedipal complexes galore, PTSD from both Army (Mother!) and loss of limb, rampant alcoholism, potentially incestuous foreplay, hair metal magic, and never-nudism, though that’s a corner of a snowflake atop the tallest mountain of comedic quirks. Come for the brilliant performances, stay for the smartest callback jokes on TV.

34. WKRP In Cincinnati

WKRP in Cincinnati is one of those shows that never seems to receive its flowers quite enough alongside others from the era. Airing for four seasons between 1978 and 1982, the comedy takes place at a struggling AM radio station in the heart of the Midwest, and boasts everything one would want in a sitcom: great jokes, iconic characters, and unforgettable TV moments.

Despite early schedule struggles, WKRP eventually found its footing on CBS, thanks to audiences loving the comedic stylings of Howard Hesseman’s Dr. Johnny Fever, Tim Reid’s Venus Flytrap, and Richard Sanders’ Les Nessman. It’s always been a hit with radio DJs, for good reason, and produced quite possibly the greatest Thanksgiving TV treat (that doesn’t have Charlie Brown in it) with “Turkeys Away.”

33. The Critic

In the wake of The Simpsons’ success, creators Al Jean and Mike Reiss shaped a cult classic with The Critic, focused on bitter film critic Jay Sherman, voiced with gusto by Jon Lovitz. The animated sitcom took after its spiritual cousin, offering up both heartfelt and cuttingly satirical gags, and bouncing from ABC to Fox only sharpened the show’s edge.

Keenly lampooning the world of show business, The Critic’s writers crafted A+ parodies of classic films, fake cinematic atrocities so bad they’re funny, and welcomed cameos from actual critics. Anyone wanting to see Siskel & Ebert in a fist fight need look no further. Two words aptly sum up how we feel about this series not lasting nearly as long as The Simpsons: “It stinks.”

32. Married...with Children

With Frank Sinatra’s “Love and Marriage” performance as its subversively optimistic theme song, Married with Children is the gleefully bawdy archetype for sitcoms about miserable people. Ed O’Neill’s misogyny-encrusted slopfest Al Bundy stiff-arms his way through life with affection-seeking wife Peg, blonde joke incarnate daughter Kelly, and lazy hornball son Bud. And Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate and David Faustino are the epitome of “the family you love to watch, but would hate to live with.”

As the live-action series that put Fox on the map, Married with Children has long been celebrated for its politically incorrect humor and cartoonishly offensive storylines, and it remains among the most offensive TV shows of all time. But it worked because the Bundy’s always came out worse than anyone else.

31. Gravity Falls

Gravity Falls’ offbeat sitcom greatness truly deserves recognition for a show that may be written off for being a Disney Channel original. Creator and cast member Alex Hirsch crafted a well-animated, off-kilter show that wins over younger viewers with its thrills, humor and heart, while also capturing older viewers with overarching mysteries, surprisingly deep lore, and barrages of callbacks, clues and pause-required animation details. (Long live Bill Cypher!)

At the center of all the madness is the perfectly realized Pines family — Grunkle Stan, Dipper and Mabel — and their friends and co-workers like Wendy, Soos and others. With two seasons and 40 episodes under its belt, Gravity Falls is a tight show that builds to a very satisfying conclusion, even if fans railed against its cancellation at the time.

30. Parks And Recreation

When Parks and Recreation premiered, SNL and UCB vet Amy Poehler was its biggest name, but the careers of co-stars such as Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt, Retta and Aubrey Plaza exploded in the years after. And it’s no surprise, since the NBC sitcom is where they were able to hone their characters distinct personalities for seven seasons.

Parks and Rec follows the misfit-lite group running Pawnee, Indiana’s parks department Indiana, and had little trouble getting into the wildest hijinks in each 30-minute runtime. The episode “Flu Season” delivers the goods in a nutshell, between Amy Poehler pretending she’s not sick, Chris Pratt’s physical comedy, and Nick Offerman perfectly portraying Ron Swanson’s disdain for government work. Parks and Rec is a quirky and lively show that deserves a spot in everyone’s lives.

29. Letterkenny

It's not often that a show can lean heavily on both the importance of morals and the notion of violence, but Letterkenny managed to strike an amazing balance between the two for twelve seasons. The Canadian sitcom is known for its amazingly paced banter and extensive wordplay and unique phrasings. As if the amazing comedic timing wasn't enough, one of the main themes continues to acknowledge the importance of standing up for what you believe in and striving to do good in the world. "If a friend asks for help, you help them."

Creator and star of the show, Jared Keeso, has also recently hit another comedic home run in the Letterkenny extended universe with the spinoff Shoresy.

28. The Mary Tyler Moore Show

Four years after winning TV audiences’ hearts for the last time on The Dick Van Dyke Show, Mary Tyler Moore struck further gold with her own titular sitcom, earning a spot high on the pyramid of inspirational female pop culture icons. For seven seasons, Moore’s Mary Richards worked diligently amidst other colorful characters in the MJM newsroom, such as Gavin McCleod’s snarky Murray, Ted Knight’s dimwitted Ted, and Ed Anser’s ever-stoic (and spinoff-bound) Lou Grant. Not to mention Betty White’s ego-puff Sue Ann.

Outside the office, some of the Emmy-amassing show’s best scenes featured Mary mixing it up with her neighbor buddies Rhoda and Phyllis, portrayed with respective pizazz by Valerie Harper and Cloris Leachman. “Chuckles Bites the Dust” and “The Last Show” are as good as sitcom TV gets.

27. Friends

“Best sitcom” conversations can’t happen without mentioning Friends once or a dozen times. As the epitome of Must-See TV in the 1990s and early aughts, the sitcom skyrocketed its six stars — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox. Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer — to fame. Decades later, the reruns are ever-present on TV and streaming, and the gang’s catchphrases continue to resonate as new generations make their way through Central Perk’s doors..

You don’t even have to have been a regular viewer to have heard Ross’ infamous “Pivot!” shout, to have a favorite Chandler quote, or to take a side on the Ross and Rachel “we were on a break” debate. Such universal recognition is relatively rare for a show that’s been off the air for 20 years.

26. The Office (UK)

We never would’ve met Steve Carell’s Michael Scott if there hadn’t been David Brent. Ricky Gerais and Stephen Merchant brought The Office to UK small screens in 2001 and, through two brief seasons and a Christmas special, introduced audiences everywhere to a new level of cringe in the form of this hilarious mockumentary series (one which kept its documentation scenarios realistic).

This dry and occasionally super-awkward comedy follows one branch of a paper company and its workers — played by Gervais, Martin Freeman, Mackenzie Crook, Lucy Davis and several other talented actors — as they attempt to get through each and every workday, dignity optional. It’s the simplicity of the show and the way the characters played off one another that made The Office a true gem.

25. Roseanne

Whether viewers are from the working class midwest or other parts of the country, Roseanne found a way to be relatable to so many. Through the sea of picture-perfect television families came the tidal wave that is the Conner family, who bickered, joked and suffered through enduring hard times. At the core of it all was a family raised by two parents, portrayed by Roseanne Barr and John Goodman, whose love remained strong throughout.

The Conners were never the idealized family everyone strives to be, but still feels like a mirror of what blue class households are really like. And despite the baffling retconned lottery season, and Barr’s off-screen controversy, Roseanne’s comfort-TV legacy remains as timeless as the family’s living room furniture.

24. The Dick Van Dyke Show

There are great workplace comedies and there are great domestic family comedies, but The Dick Van Dyke Show somehow stands out among the best ever in both capacities. From the moment Van Dyke goes barreling over that ottoman, you know you’re in for something special, as the star’s gifts for physical and verbal comedy are nearly unparalleled. He’s often not even the one delivering the best jokes, because his reaction to his legendary co-stars is the true punchline.

Speaking of, the show was very much a group effort, despite its single-star title. Conceived and written by co-star Carl Reiner, and co-starring the incomparable Mary Tyler Moore, Rose Marie, and Maury Amsterdam, all the pieces come together perfectly to make one of the most consistently high-quality sitcoms of all time.

23. What We Do In The Shadows

What We Do in the Shadows is a bonkers TV show that shouldn’t work, just like the vampires yelling “Bat!” shouldn’t work as a catchphrase, but it all absolutely does. The mockumentary, spunoff from the co-creators’ film of the same name, follows a group of ridiculous, socially out-of-touch bloodsuckers — save for energy vamp Colin Robinson and human familiar Guillermo — trying to prove their worth in Staten Island.

Despite how silly and NSFW the show is, movie-level prosthetics and visual effects help to elevate and add shocks to the narrative. The cast is truly outstanding, as it goes for any Matt Berry-infused cast, and WWDITS has earned as much awards recognition as any TV horror comedy. With murder and duplicitousness afoot, the series still hits all the sitcom benchmarks, including a fun neighbor (the mind-sapped Sean), a great theme song, and a bunch of A+ celebrity cameos.

22. The Office (U.S.)

Following the success of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s brilliant U.K. series of the same name, Greg Daniels’ adaptation of The Office took the mockumentary style of its predecessor – along with some of the more amusing traits and dynamics of its characters – and set out to tell new stories with office workers in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Whether it’s the hilarious standout ensemble of characters (led for most seasons by Steve Carell’s cringe-perfecting boss Michael Scott), the way it embraces the mundanity of office life, or how it follows years of these workers’ lives over years while squeezing every drop of humor along the way, The Office continues to be funny, relatable and — for many of us — a comfortable place to return to in the years since its fantastic 9-season run ended. Not to mention the timeless romances of Pam and Jim, Dwight and Angela, Phyllis and Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration.

21. South Park

With more than 25 seasons and a growing number of one-off specials, South Park reigns supreme as a long-running pillar of TV satire. A look at the 20 best episodes from the series is an easy way to effectively understand just how relevant this series has been on so many levels, evolving from a Kenny-killing, catchphrase machine to a show with a lot more to say than T-shirt fodder.

What other TV series, much less animated comedy, has taken on major religious institutions, accused killers, wild dieting trends, controversial music superstars and world politics throughout its run? If others exist, they probably didn’t do it as well as South Park does, and there’s still no end in sight to the Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s pop culture phenomenon, even if the duo have understandably been less prolific animators in later years.

20. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

From some of the best TV cold opens – “I Want It That Way” sung by suspects, I mean, come on, it’s genius – to ongoing gags ike the annual heist, and “title of your sex tape” that make you laugh so hard your side hurts, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a wild sitcom that is surprising in the best ways and absolutely irresistible as comfort comedy.

Led by Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews and Joe Lo Truglio, this team of detectives quite literally never gets old, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine only got better in time as everyone grew comfortable in their roles and leaned into the silliness of their surroundings. Especially the all-time terrible cop duo of Hitchcock and Scully.

All around, what Dan Goor and Michael Schur created was so special, and as Jake Peralta would say “cool, cool, cool.”

19. Newhart

Bob Newhart struck TV gold a second time (not counting his stand-up appearances) with the endlessly cozy treasure Newhart, which centered on the comings and goings within the Stratford Inn in small-town Vermont. You know, the kind of small town where a man named Larry can have one brother named Darryl, and then also another brother named Darryl. It’s there where the star comedian and Mary Frann’s Dick and Joanna Loudon take over after a move from New York City, but their big-city know-how can’t quite compete with the quirkiness of their fellow residents.

Nothing ever gets old when it comes to watching the core cast — including Tom Poston, Julia Duffy and Peter Scolar — and the revolving door of recurring actors and guest stars bounce their energies off of Bob Newhart’s. And we’d be remiss not to give Newhart its flowers for shattering TV reality with its truly iconic finale twist.

18. All in the Family

All in the Family is arguably one of the most important TV series ever made, sitcom or otherwise, and shows don’t get the chance to change television if you’re not also good enough to stay on it in the first place. Not only was All in the Family successful enough to span eight seasons, but it also spawned five spinoffs. Despite the fact that the show’s primary character Archie Bunker was specifically designed to be the most bigoted person you know, it somehow all works so incredibly well. You love him even while you hate him, which is a testament to the abilities of creator Norman Lear and star Carroll O’Connor.

Dealing with, and poking fun at, topics that had been seen as taboo to even address previously, All in the Family courted its share of controversy and certainly ruffled some feathers. But that’s just further proof that it left an indelible and influential mark upon audiences everywhere.

17. Frasier

For a TV spinoff to be anywhere near as popular as its parent show is a huge accomplishment, and NBC’s Frasier pulled off just such a transition following Cheers’ conclusion. To be sure, it was plainly great to see Kelsey Grammer’s Frasier Crane taking center stage after all those stool-sat years as an ensemble character. However, it’s unlikely the sitcom would have been nearly as successful without the supporting cast of David Hyde Pierce’s Niles, Jane Leeves’ Daphne, Peri Gilpin’s Roz and John Mahoney’s Martin.

These five characters’ unique personalities and the dynamics they share with one another make them one of the best sitcom casts of all time, and we’ll throw Eddie a bone there as well. Let’s not gloss over the intelligent writing Frasier consistently delivered, which was part of the show’s 37 Emmy wins over its eleven years on the air. Its continued popularity even sparked the Parmaount+ revival of the same name.

16. Taxi

Speaking to Taxi’s greatness takes little beyond listing the murderer’s row of talent yukking it up for five seasons at the Sunshine Cab Company: Judd Hirsch, Danny DeVito, Marilu Henner, Andy Kaufman, Tony Danza, Jeff Conaway, Christopher Lloyd, and Carol Kane. Theoretically, these actors could have struck gold with any TV narrative, but the New York setting provided the comedically ideal edge and neuroses that earned the show 18 Emmys and millions of fans. (Not that Kaufman’s Latka Gravas was a local.) Not to mention the quartet of sitcom royalty in creators James L. Brooks, Stan Daniels, David Davis, and Ed Weinberger.

Despite such over-the-top personalities, Taxi excels at grounded and heartfelt storytelling as much as broader humor, never shying away from the characters’ relatable struggles or the hot-button issues of the time. Extra points for its appearances from future Cheers stars Ted Danson, Rhea Perlman and George Wendt.

15. The Golden Girls

The Golden Girls is excellent enough to convince audiences that spending your twilight years in a shared living space with your mother and two roommates is a blueprint for endless laughs, when that might not match up with reality. It’s a credit to the stellar cast comprising Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty. Queens, one and all. Amidst all the drama, the endless insults thrown around, and the cheesecake, the foursome’s friendship really shines through in this show.

It’s indeed that friendship that causes the gals to get into some absolutely wild adventures. Who can forget the time Rose nearly ended the Cold War with the Soviets with a letter? Not every narrative goes quite so big as that, even if Blanche plays up her romances as such, but it’s always a helluva fun ride.

14. Curb Your Enthusiasm

After Seinfeld concluded its historic run in the late ‘90s, series co-creator Larry David could have ridden off into the sunset atop a horse made from residual checks. Instead, the stickler for human behavior not only created true sitcom brilliance, but also broke new ground for HBO and self-deprecating celeb cameos.

Curb Your Enthusiasm — far more than a pretty, pretty, pretty good show — never failed to inspire laughs and shocks in equal order, following David’s over-the-top fictionalized version of himself (think George Costanza on shame-eliminating steroids), facing so many provocatively awkward situations with a vast array of friends, colleagues, contemporaries, and eventual enemies. (R.I.P. Richard Lewis and Bob Einstein.) The largely improvised show found new ways to be both relevant and funny across 24 years and 12 seasons, a task that’s easier said (and avoided) than done. And it also delivered an all-timer of a finale, poking fun at Seinfeld’s polarizing conclusion.

13. The Larry Sanders Show

As host of the fictional late night talk show The Larry Sanders Show, Garry Shandling implores his audience to stay tuned, ordering them, “No flipping!” It was an easy command to obey when it came to HBO’s The Larry Sanders Show, still one of the bravest, funniest, and most insightful programs that happily sinks its teeth into the Hollywood hand that feeds.

Larry is just an exaggerated caricature of Garry Shandling, who let all of his own neurosis and anxieties fly out of the mouth of his insecure comedic television personality who desperately wanted to be liked by his chosen industry. And the show got a lot of mileage out of real-life celebrities appearing and poking fun at their public personas. (David Duchovny for the win.) But it’s the supporting cast – led by the late Rip Torn and the wonderful Jeffrey Tambor – that elevates Larry Sanders to legendary status. There’ll never be another as biting and satirical as this.

12. Spaced

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s long history with director Edgar Wright includes the so-called Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End). Before that, though, they rocked the sitcom landscape with the UK gem Spaced. A relatable premise is vital to a good sitcom, and it was so easy to fall in love with pro slacker Tim (Pegg) and the uber-dramatic Daisy (Jessica Stevenson) while shrewdly securing their affordable apartment under the watchful eye of Julia Deaken’s landlady Marsha.

In addition to watching Tim and Daisy maintain their ruse of being a “professional couple” while figuring out the whole adulting thing, Spaced — one of Simon Pegg’s best projects — packed in endless horror movie references, video game easter eggs, and more pop culture love. (The pantomime gun fight is everything.) It also featured a supporting cast of hilariously exaggerated characters that will NOT have you wanting to “skip to the end.”

11. The Good Place

Sitcoms are, by design, often stagnant, with the same characters facing similar situations week after week. If the jokes land, everything works, but if not, well… Then along came The Good Place to throw those preconceptions out the window. If creator Michael Schur had just repeated Season 1’s twisty premise for five seasons, it would have still been good, but The Good Place achieved true greatness with its storytelling.

Fronted by Kristen Bell and Ted Danson in top-tier fashion, The Good Place takes massive risks with its afterlife-set narrative, changing elements from one season to the next. The house of (God) cards would have tumbled down had it not all worked as infallibly as the big man himself, but it never even wavered. Indeed, The Good Place is simply forking unbelievable from beginning to end, buttressed by fully realized characters portrayed by co-leads William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto, and D’Arcy Carden. Stream the show for everyone now, Janet. Janet..?

10. Fawlty Towers

As part of Monty Python’s sextet of comedy masterminds, John Cleese had already conquered the world of sketch comedy and film, so the next obvious move was to craft a largely perfect sitcom with then-wife Connie Booth, and Fawlty Towers was just such perfection across twelve increasingly fraught.

Set within the non-existing titular hotel in Torquay, Cleese’s Basil Fawlty suffers the existence of everyone around him, especially Prunella Scales’ Sybil, his oft-demanding wife, and the language issues of Andrew Sachs’ Manuel, the establishment’s Spanish waiter. Booth’s chambermaid Polly gets slightly less irritation for being regularly competent. A hotel owner who hates his clientele is in the high-concept echelon, and the series offered up an eternally memorable selection of frequent and one-time guests, as well as builders, inspectors and others whose actions bring Basil’s blood pressure to a proper boil.

Similar to other classic ‘70s and ‘80s sitcoms, Fawlty Towers has been both celebrated and derided for its politically incorrect humor. It's perhaps exemplified best by the series’ marquee episode “The Germans,” and is something Cleese intends to replicate with the revival series he’s creating with daughter Camilla.

9. Cheers

Locations can mean everything to a sitcom. Memorable shows are set in places to which we want to return, from Mel’s Diner to the Dunder Mifflin offices to, of course, the bar from Cheers – where everybody knows your name. Audiences became such regulars to the comfortable sitcom, we practically expected to hear our own names shouted out, a la Norm, when we turned the program on.

The familiarity and welcomeness of Cheers kept us tuning in, even as some of the cast rotated. We all invested heavily in the “will they or won’t they” relationship of barkeep Sam Malone (Ted Danson) and waitress Diane Chambers (Shelley Long), but stuck around when Diane was replaced by Rebecca (Kirstie Alley); and Southern simpleton Woody (Woody Harrelson) was embraced after first filling in for the departed Coach (Nicholas Colasanto). Not that anyone could ever replace Cliff Clavin.

Television hasn’t been the same since Cheers closed its doors, with Frasier going a completely different spinoff route, and I’m not sure another show can be set in a bar, and reach the high bar set by this program.

8. The Simpsons

I think there’s an argument to be made that The Simpsons should have a place on any top 100 list when it comes to describing the best television, regardless of what additional parameters there may be. Part of the allure of this series, as it heads toward 800 episodes, is that there’s not really anything it hasn’t done at this point. There’s a Simpsons episode for whatever mood readers are feeling that day, though it may take a bit of research to figure out which one that is.

What I love most about The Simpsons is how the series has evolved with time and how the show has modernized the characters with the times while still retaining the core elements that audiences loved about them. Sure, seeing Homer Simpson send memes to Lisa on a smartphone can feel a bit jarring sometimes, but it’s also 100% on-brand for the patriarch and definitely less weird in the modern day to younger audiences compared to if he was still using a rotary phone. Plus, if you prefer the old stuff, it’s all available to stream on Disney+

7. I Love Lucy

For the majority of TV’s existence as an entertainment platform, sitcoms have been synonymous with Lucille Ball, who achieved icon status several times over during her run as Lucy Ricardo in I Love Lucy (and other incarnations and later series). The series remains a blueprint reference for sitcom-crafting, and was revolutionary at the time for not only its star, but for her real-life husband Desi Arnaz portraying her faux hubby Ricky, and more.

While I Love Lucy could occasionally pull an emotional heartstring or two, its strength was comedy, and Ball maximized that concept throughout its run. Lucy and Ricky are as loud and wild a TV couple as can be, especially opposite their slightly more subdued neighbors Fred and Ethel Mertz. From Lucy’s efforts to get into Ricky’s shows to her attempts to hock Vitameatavegamin to her and Ethel’s conveyor belt struggles, the show regularly produced unforgettable sequences.

I Love Lucy is also revolutionary for women in television, with Ball helping pave the way for so many other amazing female actresses to lead their own successful shows, even if struggles are still real on that front. No need for further ‘splanation: I Love Lucy is TV gold.

6. Schitt's Creek

Schitt’s Creek didn’t truly hit the mainstream until its final season, but when people found it, its popularity exploded and its legacy was cemented. Created by father-son duo Dan and Eugene Levy, the comedy centers on a rich family who loses all their money, with the titular town as their silver lining. Annie Murphy and Catherine O’Hara co-star alongside the Levys in this most hilarious fish out of water story.

Seeing these four totally out of their element within the less-than-chic town is an easy way in for viewers. But the hooks that keep people watching are Catherine O’Hara’s ridiculous fake accent, Dan Levy’s sassy one-liners, Annie Murphy’s over-the-top everything as Alexis, Eugene Levy’s brilliant straight-man reactions, and the heartfelt growth this family goes through as they learn to love each other and the town they now call home.

Since the show became a sensation, lines like “Ew David!” have entered the everyday lexicon, and impersonations of Moira and Alexis can be seen frequently on social media. Schitt’s Creek shined bright when it was on — remember the network Pop? — and since then it’s cemented itself as a permanent part of the zeitgeist.

5. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Rarely does a piece of pop culture offer up a character who constantly proves themself to be unendingly vile, self-consumed, aloof, destructive and terrible for society. But a combination of those words describes literally every single character who speaks in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Of course, the biggest and most hilarious offenders are the central Paddy’s Pub gang made up of possible serial killer Dennis (Glenn Howerton), his slightly less evil Bird…e… sister Dee, the sexually fluid approval-seeking Mac (Rob McElhenny), glue-eating connoisseur and janitor Charlie (Charlie Day) and the shockingly demented and depraved Frank (Danny DeVito).

No stone goes unturned when it comes to shocking viewers with how low these characters will go to achieve even the most meaningless iota of recognition or selfish pleasure. There’s racially charged (and socially questionable) takes on Lethal Weapon and The Wiz, exploiting all manner of substance and behavior addictions, satirical jabs at gun control, welfare, sexual assault, and much more. Its unsanitary hilarity is cherished among fans who have watched it live on longer than any other TV comedy in history, with no end in sight. (Except for Danny DeVito’s bare one, that is.)

4. King Of The Hill

Animation isn’t often a medium for classic sitcoms, but Mike Judge’s King of the Hill delivered on all fronts by settling audiences into the everyday life of the Hill family. Hank, Peggy, Bobby, and an assortment of other Arlen standouts kept viewers rolling and clamoring for more Southern-fried hilarity during its 13-season stretch. (And more is on the way thanks to Hulu’s revival.)

King of the Hill tackles issues while poking fun at them in ways that most viewers can probably relate to — from the stresses of the workplace to the terror of puberty to the awkwardness of family — adding a layer of realism to the two-dimensional characters’ world. To that end, Judge’s series is also atypical for adhering to realism throughout, as opposed to going off the cartoonish deep end for laughs (outside of dream sequences, that is).

Judge’s Hank and Kathy Najimy’s Peggy, along with Brittany Murphy’s Luanne and Pamela Adlon’s Bobby, provide a lot of the show’s heart and soul with their struggles and not-always-brilliant reactions to those struggles. But it always helps to have friends around like the hapless good’n Bill, the conspiracy-obsessed Dale and the mush-mouthed Boomhauer.

3. Seinfeld

It’s joked that Seinfeld is “a show about nothing,” and that’s a fair surface-only assessment. The NBC hit provides no lasting messages or morals, and it focuses the majority of its creative energy on eccentric minutiae of everyday life – be it waiting forever for a table at a restaurant or getting in disputes with cashiers over proper change. Characters don’t grow or change — save for temporary shrinkage and mustache-growing — and there’s no reach for deep themes. They’re not even nice people.

And yet, it’s utterly brilliant, timeless, and endlessly rewatchable.

Jerry, George, Kramer and Elaine each have their own unique and hilarious personalities strengthened by the actors’ performances, which in turn drives hilarious stories that unlock the real magic of the show: the way everything intertwines. Kramer golfing on the beach is its own weird gag, but also perfectly sets up George being called into action to rescue a beached whale after previously lying about being a marine biologist. Just about every sitcom since the early 1990s has tried to capture some of the magic of the nine-season series, but there is only one Seinfeld. (A notion that Newman would applaud.)

2. Veep

Veep was the [censored] creation of Armando Iannucci, the mastermind known for The Thick of It and Alan Partridge’s various incarnations, and HBO’s political workplace comedy is dripping with just as much satire and [censored] as anything graced by his Midas touch before or after. It’s one of the fastest and foulest sitcoms to date, with a jokes-per-minute rate that rivals other rapid-paced greats like The Simpsons and Arrested Development, and a [censored]-per-minute rate that is second to none.

As it goes with the best of the best, Veep boasts and expansive ensemble of uppermost geniuses, as led by Emmy magnet Julie Louis-Dreyfus’ Vice President (and then some) Selina Meyer, whose struggles to remain a boss in Washington D.C. means absolute hell for the masses of aides, pundits, strategists, etc. in her orbit. That applies most to her body man and extra appendage Gary, played with aplomb by Tony Hale.

Every Veep co-star brings something perfect to the table, from Anna Chlumsky’s rage suppression as Amy to Matt Walsh’s common sense suppression as Mike; from Reid Scott’s smarm-oozing Dan to Timothy Simons’ arbitrary naysayer Jonah. And we’d just as easily watch spinoffs centered on Kevin Dunn’s Ben and Gary Cole’s Kent, as well as Sam Richardson’s go-getter Richard Splett.

Canadian sitcom Letterkenny has been a highlight for many fans since its debut. Over the last 11 seasons, they have enjoyed the hilarious look at a small Canadian town and its eccentric residents. Whether the Letterkenny pop culture references are your favorite part of the series, or there's something else that draws you in, if you haven't watched Letterkenny before, the good news is there's a lot to enjoy. The bad news is that the popular show is coming to an end. The final season will arrive on Hulu for fans to enjoy the day after Christmas.

Decades later Oprah and Spielberg have produced a new film version of The Color Purple, which adapts the popular stage musical version of the story. The Best Letterkenny Holiday Episodes, Ranked

With like a lot of actors, that breath before a take thing is real. I myself have found doing that for sure. There was a director one time, she's like, 'how instead of taking a breath.., she's like, 'why don't you exhale?' I was like, 'Hey!'

With no shortage of clever words and phrases as well as some insanely scripted dialogue, it's no surprise that the Letterkenny cast need to do everything they can to prepare and nail their hilarious lines correctly. Michelle Mylett, who plays Katie, also found herself falling victim to the breathing technique, which was a hard pill to swallow:

Maybe the inhale..I think the inhale. Yeah. Which is hard. It's a hard feedback to receive.

Regardless of how they get it done, the show has been a huge success and is easily one of the funniest shows on Hulu (or any network/platform, to be fair). The actors are so well known that sometimes Letterkenny fans have crossed the line with the actors in the real world, while others have started petitions to get one star into the MCU. So far we only have his awesome Letterkenny spinoff Shoresy, which is still a hell of a good time and also streaming on Hulu.

The Letterkenny Quotes The Cast Find Themselves Using Most Often

You were watching Letterkenny the other daaaaaaay and you found yourself quoting some ridiculously specific lines, right? The fast-talking Canadian comedy is known for its hilarious and unique words and phrases, which have made an impact on pop culture vocabulary ever since the show was picked up by Hulu back in 2018. As the eleventh season, as well as a Letterkenny spinoff, just launched, I had the privilege of catching up with the robust Letterkenny cast to see how the project had evolved over the years- and I promise you, they did not disappoint or hold back.

Evan Stern, who plays Roald on the show, not only talked about the phrases that have jumped from the show to his own vocabulary, but the ones even his own family uses. As he explained to CinemaBlend:

I definitely find myself doing the 'very tight, very nice, very cool'. Like the 'very veries'. I find myself doing a lot and I say 'to be fair' in my own life, all the time. It's so annoying how often I say it. And then have my brothers go 'to be fair'. I'm like, 'I’ll kill you.'

While I feel that most characters on the show could carry their own spinoffs, some of the main Letterkenny cast members really help hold the ship together while delivering tightly scripted lines, despite much of the show feeling improvised. Wayne's "tom-girl," ass-kicking sister Katie, played by Michelle Mylett, is one such star, who was quick to open up about the impact that the show has had on her everyday vocabulary. Michelle had this to say regarding the dialogue:

Oh, God. Oh, I can't say 'to be fair' without being like 'Michelle…'. I think it's like a fear of mine to be on a show and then I'm quoting the show that I'm on like even if it’s not intentional. So I really try to be mindful of that because it's a bit...cringe.

With the recent Shoresy spinoff dropping having premiered late last year and an eleventh season under their belt, it doesn't seem like the Hulu show is showing any signs of slowing down. Letterkenny'sJacob Tierney Says What We Were All Thinking About Two Characters On The Show

You’re watching your favorite Canadian TV comedy, Letterkenny, the other dayee when you find yourself wondering, Wait… which one is Ron and which one is Dax?

The Hulu exclusive series satirizing rural life in the Great White North boasts one of the most unique ensembles of any sitcom running today. In fact, each character boasts enough fascinating quirks and memorably hilarious qualities to make them all easily distinguishable from one another… well, except, for the two members of the Letterkenny cast we're about to discuss in this piece.

Even the most die-hards fans of the sitcom — which recently debuted its first live-action spin-off, Shoresy, on Hulu — often find themselves struggling to tell the two married workout partners apart. I will admit that — despite their disparate physical characteristics — each and every time I have referenced them in an article about Letterkenny, I had to rely on internet research to confirm that James Daly is Ron (a.ka. "Ronzy") and Gregory Waters plays Dax (a.k.a. "Daxy").

Apparently, this is an issue not lost on even Jacob Tierney, who co-created Letterkenny with Wayne actor Jared Keeso and who also stars as local pastor-tuned-MoD3an’s employee, Glen. The actor and filmmaker was recently interviewed by EW about the show’s slow, pressure cooker success story and, when asked about any past characters he would like to bring back, had this to say:

There's enough of them. I can barely fit them all in a fucking frame. [Laughs] I don't want more actors; I have plenty. I barely know which one's Reilly and which one's Jonesy. I don't know which one's Dax and which one's Ron.

So, not only does Tierney struggle with differentiating Dax from Ron, but he also faces the same problem when identifying fellow gym dwellers, Reilly (Dylan Playfair) and Jonesy (Andrew Herr). Intriguingly, this reflects a running gag on the show that Wayne often fails (of, perhaps, refuses) to remember either of the hockey-playing best buddies' names.

EW writer Tyler Aquilina then reveals that he isn't sure which is which when Dax and Ron are on screen either. This prompts the following reply from Tierney, jokingly claiming that Daly and Waters might be just as clueless:

I don't think they know! I think they learn both lines, and then they're just like, flip a coin to see who says what.

Thinking more about this topic and reminiscing about the best Letterkenny episodes, I often can’t tell the difference between another pair of workout buddies named Tyson and Joint Boy, who are played by Jay Bertin and Joel Gagne, respectively. I also tend to forget if Sash Striga is the one who plays Aly and Nadine Bhabha plays her friend, Bianca, or vice versa (the former turned out to be correct). Finally, I do recall a time I genuinely wondered if I was looking at Wayne’s French-Canadian ex-girlfriend, Marie-Frédérique (Magalie Lépine Blondeau), when it was actually Kim Cloutier as Anik, the French-Canadian ex-girlfriend of Daryl (Nathan Dales).

Luckily, I suppose it does not always really matter if we find ourselves seeing double with any of these characters because, in most cases, they come as a packaged deal, especially Ronzy and Daxy. Maybe one day, if the creators do want to make it easier for fans to solve this conundrum, it would help to make the couple the stars of their own spin-off. I'd give that a Texas-sized 10-4.

How Much Of Letterkenny Is Improvised Vs Scripted? The Cast Explains

The Crave TV and Hulu show Letterkenny has solidified itself as one of my all-time favorite shows, and so much of that is due to the unique writing. The pacing is quick, the dialogue is often strange and the show is packed with numerous catchphrases that, to be fair, often help fans identify each other in the wild.

Something I have often wondered is how much of the script is read verbatim versus how much improvisation happens during shooting. I recently spoke with the cast and the director about Letterkenny's tenth season and the upcoming Shoresy spinoff, and took the opportunity to learn how much freedom they have to stray from the script.

Director, writer and actor Jacob Tierney, who plays Glen, stated that the show doesn't go down exactly as fans might expect, revealing:

You know, there's so much dialogue in this show. There's nowhere near as much improv as people think. It's largely scripted dialogue and also the scripts are so rhythmic and the pace is so specific that improv, it'll happen, of course it's a comedy, it happens, but it doesn't happen very often.

K. Trevor Wilson, who plays Squirrely Dan, a character who has a unique dialogue that's all his own, seemed to echo Jacob's statement, adding:

It's all there on the page. We're given the freedom to make it our own, you know, whether that's like, “Hey, I think my character would say it more like this”, or, you know, every once in a while you just come up with a cheeky line and you throw it in there. But the nice thing is we have the freedom to collaborate. It's all there on the page. But if we come up with an idea, Jared and Jacob are always open to listen. And sometimes this seems organically changed through that collaboration, but it's all there on the page to begin with.

I figured that there must be some elements on the show that weren't planned or at least happen more organically. As Jacob Tierney mentioned, it is a comedy, after all. These assumptions were confirmed once I was able to speak with the Skids. Evan Stern, who plays Roald, discussed where improv does come into play, noting:

I mean, it's heavily scripted. The fact that Tyler and I get together the night before and run it 400 times, I think can tell you how tight it is. But then the improv comes at either the beginning or the end of a scene for a bit like, uh, Jacob won't cut a scene until he's seen you suffer enough. So he'll just let it run and then you'll be forced to improvise at the end. That's generally what happens. And none of the physicality is scripted. So if I come in on his back, that's not in the script.

Melanie Scrofano, who plays the gin and tonic-drinkin' Mrs McMurray, echoed the sentiment about the physicality of the show, while even citing a specific, uh, erotic, example:

That's the thing I would've said is that it's like, the script is the Bible to me, but then, I get very awkward and uncomfortable. And so my improv comes physically. I’ll force feed a banana to someone.

Shoresy just so happens to be a fan-favorite character also be played by Wayne actor Jared Keeso and because of this, on the OG Hulu show, we never get to see Shore’s face (though your mom probably has). All that has changed now that we’ve gotten the first look at the spinoff, aptly titled Shoresy.

When the first look trailer kicks off we’re still getting a look at the back of Shoresy’s jersey, and for a second I thought the new spinoff might continue the gimmick of showing the character from behind. But that is not the case after all, because we get a whole look at the hockey team and this time Jared Keeso’s sporting a new ‘do and missing a tooth, for good measure of course.

Of course, it’s hard to make Jared Keeso look unlike Jared Keeso and Shoresy isn’t really going to try, which I’m cool with. This first look trailer spotlights the character, but given Shoresy’s main bit in the Letterkenny world so far has been tormenting other hockey players with chirpin' about their mothers, I’m most definitely interested in what this show will actually be about. A new update from Hulu says the 6-episode series will follow Shoresy on a quest “to never lose again.” Hope he figures it out, bud.

When CinemaBlend actually spoke to the Letterkenny cast for Season 10 a short while ago, they confirmed Shoresy would be continuing his hockey journey but were tight-lipped about what else was coming. One thing I really did enjoy was Jacob Tierney referring to it as the Letterkenny TV Universe (LKTU), but now we actually know a little bit more about what's coming, including the cast. Take a look.

The new series is expected to debut in the spring of 2022, so very soon, according to Hulu. A Letterkenny Shoresy Spinoff Is Coming, And The Cast Shares Some Fun Details

Letterkenny has been quietly gaining a cult following ever since it moved from Crave TV to Hulu back in 2018. The Canadian show is known for fast-talking and plenty of catchphrases, and has reached its 10th season and now the cast has revealed more good news about the future of the Letterkenny Television Universe, which is about to expand with a Shoresy spinoff.

I recently sat down with the cast and director of the show to discuss the latest season as well as the upcoming spinoff. After some light chirps thrown my way during the interviews, director, writer, and actor Jacob Tierney, who plays Glen, divulged what he could about the upcoming spinoff, of which we haven't heard that many previous details.

I'm not sure what I'm allowed to tell you about it. He's getting a spinoff. It exists. We have filmed it. He will play hockey. I hope that everyone likes it. Something I'm really, I'm really proud of it. We're still in post-production on it. We just finished filming it. I don't wanna give too many spoilers away, but it's very exciting. And yeah, it's a fun, new kind of expansion of the uh, Letterkenny TV Universe. The LKTVU…? It just rolls off the tongue. Everyone will want to say it.

While Jacob did his best to avoid any potential spoilers, other cast members helped shed some light on the tone of the upcoming spinoff. Here's what Evan Stern, who plays Roald, had to say to CinemaBlend:

I think it's gonna be a lot more heart than you expect. That's what I'll say. I think there's gonna be a real hometown vibe and it's gonna specifically focus on Sudbury from what I understand. And we've been shooting the show in Sudbury for the last seven years and I think it's Keeso’s opportunity to showcase that city and how great it is here.

Dylan Playfair, who plays Riley, went on to talk about his fellow teammate and what we can expect about the direction and physical shooting location of the new show:

I mean, hey, Shoresy wants to win, right? He goes north to win. It's actually, um, it's kind of neat. So, in that series, they use Sudbury, they use the real city as the backdrop, which is where we actually film Letterkenny. So there's a little bit of ‘life imitating art’, or ‘art imitating life’, I guess…would be the, the more accurate representation. He goes off and, and leaves Riley and Jonesy behind to battle it out in the beer leagues. And, uh, I believe he is going out to win a ship if I'm not mistaken.

Nathan Dales, who plays Daryl, says he's been mostly kept out of the loop, but states that he has no worries regarding the direction, since it's being helmed by two Letterkenny greats.

I think we're gonna find out a lot of different things about a guy that you don't really know too much about up until this point. He's sort of a one-dimensional character up until this point. And I think the show is probably gonna show, uh, great many sides to him, for sure….Obviously, you know, Jared and Jacob, make a hell of a team, so I can't imagine it's gonna be bad.

As far as Letterkenny itself goes, the season 10 trailer dropped in early December and the episodes themselves went live on Christmas Eve and are still available to binge if you have a Hulu subscription. News of the spinoff has been scarce so far but the end of season 10 clearly points to a new direction in the near future. Thanks to filming back-to-back, the next season is reportedly finished too, though there's no word on when we'll get it yet.

With how many shows come out all the time on streaming platforms, sometimes we forget that there are so many amazing shows that are from across the world as well. While Hulu has some fantastic original shows, there’s a plethora of other entertainment on there that I believe you should check out right now.

From entertaining coming-of-age shows to fantastic anime, the amount of great international shows on Hulu looks to be never ending. Here are some of the best that are currently streaming on Hulu that you should check out next.

Skins (2007-2013)

In this coming of age series, Skins follows a group of friends in their teen years growing up surrounded by older figures - some of which aren’t the best role models, so it’s up to them to try and find their place amongst the crazies around them.

Skins is such a great comedy drama and really such a good teen show to watch. With a large Skins cast, it’s the perfect show to watch because it’s constantly changing the characters and the stories that you follow. It’s also the perfect show that addresses so many important topics, including puberty, bullying, eating disorders, PTSD, bipolar disorders, and so much more.

Luther (2010 - Present)

Starring the suave Idris Elba, Luther is a popular British drama that follows a murder-detective who is very, very good at his job, but because of this, he's pretty much obsessed about his work, and sometimes lets that obsession about murders, serial killers, criminals and more affect his life.

Luther is such a fantastic series. Really. I could go on and on about this and still wish there were more than just twenty episodes. Idris Elba has done some amazing roles but Luther is one where I really feel he shines, showing his range as an actor in the mind of the titular character.

Attack On Titan (2013 - Present)

This is probably one of the most well-known animes of all time. Attack on Titan follows Eren Yeager, a young boy whose home is attacked by giant humanoid monsters that feast on the flesh of humans - one of which kills his mother. When he grows older, he, his friends, and several other allies join the Survey Corps, in hope of somehow getting rid of the monster problem forever. But this unveils secrets of his life Eren never thought were possible.

I could go on about Attack on Titan for hours. I remember when I first heard about this show, I was a little hesitant regarding anime in general, just because I had some bad experiences with it in the past. But after giving it a shot, I can gladly say that Attack on Titan is some of the best TV I have ever witnessed. From the first episode, we get action, suspense, heart, sadness, everything you could want in a drama, with cliffhanger after cliffhanger, it just never stops. You’ll want to keep watching, for sure.

Killing Eve (2018 - Present)

In this spy thriller series, Killing Eve is about the titular character, Eve, who is given the job of hunting down Villanelle, an assassin who also happens to be a bit unstable. However, as their hunt continues, a strange and unusual relationship begins to evolve between them.

Killing Eve is such a fun series, for sure. Lead Sandra Oh shines in her role, as does the talented Jodie Comer, showing this strange connection these two have despite being enemies. That’s what really draws you in with this - the strange connection these two have that somehow evolves into something more. I don’t even want to get too into it because this is a show that you deserve to go into blind.

Bloom (2019 - Present)

This Australian drama will keep you entertained from start to finish. Bloom is a drama/sci-fi series where a massive flood has destroyed the homes of hundreds of people. A year later, an unknown plant emerges with the ability to turn people young again, but this power also starts to bring out the worst in society.

I sort of call Bloom the TV version of Tangled, except it’s a lot more dangerous. What I love about it is that you really do start to see humanity crumble, all because of this plant that came out of nowhere. The cast is talented as well, showing the true hysteria that happens when people feel they have nowhere left to turn to.

Deutschland 83 (2015)

Moving on, we have the German television show, Deutschland 83. In this spy thriller series, we follow Martin Rauch, a young German soldier whose life changes when he is suddenly sent out to West Germany (before the Berlin Wall fell) to act as a spy. This in turn leads his life to be altered forever.

I know we're focusing on this one season, but Deutschland 83 actually has two other seasons, called Deutschland 86 and Deutschland 89. And honestly, for good reason. The show is exciting from beginning to end. I’ve always loved a good spy thriller and Deutschland 83 is the perfect example of how to do one properly. I also love the inclusion of history within the show and its focus on Germany, as someone who loves to learn about the culture and the story of other countries.

The Office (U.K) (2001 - 2003)

I’m sure everyone knows at this point that the American version of The Office was based on the original from the United Kingdom, but did you know it’s available to watch on Hulu? The Office, starring Ricky Gervais, is a hilarious workplace sitcom that follows the employees of the Wernham Hogg Paper Company in the United Kingdom.

If you like The Office, you’ll like the British version. Simple as that. While the characters aren’t as zany as Michael Scott or even as creepy as Creed from the American version, there is still so much to love about the United Kingdom’s The Office. Plus, Ricky Gervais as David Brent is a role that I wish we got to see more of. He plays the character so well and is hysterically funny.

Heartland (2007 - Present)

This ongoing dramedy series is a huge hit in Canada. Heartland tells the story of sisters who live on a ranch with their loved ones. While showing what life out in the country is like, the family expands and starts to tell new stories to generations down the line, showing just how far they have come - through fifteen seasons (and counting).

Heartland is one of those shows that you should watch if you just want to feel good. It’s heartwarming, family-friendly, and has plenty of great messages about the value of good relationships. It almost reminds me a little of Modern Family but with a little more wholesomeness put into it. Something else I love about it is the usage of their sets, mixed in with beautiful country landscapes and majestic horses.

Murdoch Mysteries (2008 - Present)

Another ongoing series from Canada, Murdoch Mysteries is a great mystery show that takes place long ago in Toronto, following the titular character, William Murdoch, a detective. As the viewers, we get to follow along as he solves strange mysteries, both usual and unusual, all while unfolding a bigger plot at hand.

As someone who has also loved murder mysteries and shows like that, Murdoch Mysteries is the perfect show to watch. Covering a new mystery every episode, the series really keeps you on your toes and doesn’t stray for a second with its brilliant storylines. Yannick Bisson is fantastic in the lead role, as is the rest of the cast.

Atlantis (2013 - 2015)

If you want a fun fantasy series mixed in with adventure, check out Atlantis. This show, first starting off in the modern world, takes its lead character, Jason, on a crazy adventure when his submarine breaks down in the ocean. But after he somehow survives the horrible situation, he finds himself awakening near the ancient lost city of Atlantis, surrounded by strange people and strange creatures.

I’m a huge fantasy nerd, who will watch anything that has anything to do with gods, monsters, magic, or all of the above, which is why Atlantis is the perfect choice for me. Something I also love about Atlantis is its use of Greek mythology, often citing characters from the Greek myths, as well as using monsters from them too.

Letterkenny (2016 - Present)

This hilarious Canadian sitcom that has gone on for so long is a winner. Letterkenny follows two siblings who live in the small, fictional town of Letterkenny, located in Ontario. Together, they live on a farm and try to make money by growing produce, all while trying to survive the wackiness of their hometown.

Letterkenny is freaking hilarious. From the first moment I started watching it to the next, I found myself snickering every couple of minutes, creating fun experiences while also having a stellar Letterkenny cast that has perfect chemistry. I also love the fact that they make some of the funniest holiday specials I’ve ever seen in sitcoms. I mean, their St. Patrick's Day special makes me laugh every single time.

Cowboy Bebop (1998)

Last but not least, we take a look at another anime on this list, Cowboy Bebop. This anime, which only had one season, follows the story of close bounty hunters, as they travel through space on their ship - aptly titled the “Bebop," hunting people down.

With the anime recently getting the live-action treatment on Netflix (even if it was cancelled only after one season), the anime itself is such a great one to watch, especially if you’ve never seen anime before. Spike Spiegel is a complex protagonist who is badass but also has a dark past and secrets that only make him more interesting and intriguing to root for. Plus, the stories are so much fun and full of moments that will have you cheering at your screen at the sheer badassery you are witnessing.

There are truly so many amazing shows that are out there right now that you can watch from other countries, and hopefully this gave you an idea of just a few that are worth the time to binge. The Letterkenny Season 10 Trailer Is Here And Yew, Does It Look Wild!

You're sifting through the latest in entertainment news todayee when you come across the triumphant debut of the Letterkenny Season 10 trailer. The teaser comes just nine days before the hilarious Canadian comedy series returns, and proves that the Hicks, Skids, and other residents of the titular town are in some wild misadventures as you can see in the video above.

You may want me to pitter patter and get on with my reaction to this 110-second trailer for the Hulu hit, but I honestly do not know where to even begin. Perhaps, we could take things from the top of the preview, which starts off with the familiar sight of the four main Letterkenny cast members - namely Wayne (series co-creator Jared Keeso), his sister, Katie (Michelle Mylett), and good buddies Daryl (Nathan Dales) and Squirrelly Dan (K. Trevor Wilson) - kicking back some Puppers in front of the fruit stand.

However, things quickly go from 10-ply to 1 (in terms of comfort) when she mentions a racy memory about her visit to Daryl's second cousin's house. Without going too
much into detail, it does call to mind a certain recurring joke from some of the best Letterkenny episodes about a side character named The Ginger and his relationship with an Ostrich... "allegedly."

Speaking of side characters, the trailer also teases the return of bromantic hockey player duo Jonesy (Andrew Herr) and Reilly (Dylan Playfair). They have, apparently, caught the eyes of city girls Aly (Sash Striga) and Bianca (Nadine Bhabha) despite previously hooking up with Skids leader, Stewart (Tyler Johnston).

Meanwhile, the older male locals (including Coach, played by Mark Forward) appear to be preparing to receive a prostate exam, which might be the event that Wayne tries to get out of with constant "chorin'." On the other hand, he could be trying to avoid seeing anymore of his ex-girlfriend Marie-Fred (Magalie Lépine-Blondeau), whose return is also teased in the preview.

We also see a few glimpses of one of Letterkenny's toughest fan-favorite characters, Tanis (Kaniehtiio Horn), but without enough context to understand what she has been up to since trying to launch her own energy drink. On a more dismal note, it appears that Katie's cheating ex, Dierks (Tyler Hynes), has blown back into town for a rematch after getting the crap beaten out of him by the entire cast in the Season 8 finale.

However, the one side character whom I am personally most excited to see is the very misleading Mennonite, Noah Dyck (Jonathan Torrens), who promises to treat the male Hicks with a "sausage party." He and his family are one of the essential reasons, in my opinion, why Letterkenny is one of the funniest TV shows on Hulu.

I can only imagine just how bucky things are bound to get in the footage we have not seen, and cannot wait to see, on one of the most highly anticipated 2021 fall TV premiere dates. Letterkenny Season 10 hits Hulu on December 26, 2021. Yew!

Tool's Maynard James Keenan Apparently Loves Letterkenny, Absolutely Roasted Star In TikTok Video

I’m not sure there’s much in the world I enjoy more than fandoms colliding. OK, maybe like the occasional chocolate chip cookie or hitting a running milestone, but otherwise this video of Tool’s Maynard James Keenan calling out Letterkenny star Evan Stern is an example of one of the reasons the Internet can be great (when it doesn't suck of course.) In fact, watching Keenan go on his own Letterkenny-level roast just made my day. But it’s gonna take a little explaining to get to how and why Kennan just told Roald actor Evan Stern to “calm the fuck down.”

Evan Stern, along with a couple of his other Letterkenny co-stars (see: Michelle Mylett) are pretty active on social media. Recently, Stern noticed a video of Tool and Puscifer frontman Maynard James Keenan wearing a Letterkenny shirt and took the opportunity to share that hot fact with his own fans. It's worth noting, Stern’s character Roald is a Tool fan on the series and has mentioned the band before. So, he made a video connecting the dots between the Hulu and Crave series and Keenan himself.

Letterkenny boasts a slew of fans, so the realization a big name might watch isn’t a shocker, though it’s fun watching a cast member do a little bit of a deep dive into the show's fandom. However, what’s even better about Evan Stern’s find is that Maynard James Keenan himself responded to Stern's post (in another Letterkenny t-shirt) and managed to both call out the Roald actor on a misconception while also spotlighting he is in fact a fan, as was postured.

Dropping an f-bomb and telling Evan Stern to “calm the fuck down,” Maynard James Keenan also pointed out that he’s the lyricist and the only singer Tool has so he’s not the “lead singer.” The trash talk was peppered with Letterkenny one-liners and I wonder if it’s weirder for Stern hearing Maynard James Keenan quoting Letterkenny or if he still finds the number of times a day he’s asked to say “Stuart” by strangers to be the odder occurrence. Either way it could be worse, as someone could be asking Stern about butt stuff all the time. Letterkenny problems, amirite?

In the meantime, Letterkenny just recently wrapped filming on Season 10 and a slew of cast members shared photos from set. There’s no word on when exactly those episodes will be dropping on Crave and Hulu, yet. However, last year we got a surprise set of episodes right around the holiday and it really was the gift that kept on giving. So I could imagine Hulu either dropping the episodes in similar fashion or even at a similar time this coming year.

Now I'm just hotly anticipating a future in which other celebrities who also happen to be Letterkenny fans also get in on roasting the cast when warranted. There's got to be something to keep us all occupied while we wait for the new episodes to drop. As long as that activity is not fucking an ostrich I'm here for it.

As luck would have it, Hulu and Crave’s cult favorite series has been hard back at work over the last several weeks and now some of the main cast members have confirmed the show has wrapped. That’s not just one season the show has wrapped on, it’s two, as over the last few weeks the cast has banged out a slew of episodes that are sure to be quotable. As Season 9 was the last set of episodes to stream, Season 10 and Season 11 will now be on the way.

Tyler Johnston, who has played Stewart on the long-running comedy through its run, was among the first who shared a cast photo from set. He also noted the new seasons of the series wrapped.

In addition, Michelle Mylett, who plays serial dater Katy, was also among the people who confirmed the series was filming just a few days ago. Bonnie McMurray actress Kamilla Kowal had a similar post, but it was Mylett who later noted the series would be filming not one set of episodes but two. More on that in a bit, as this is her first look from set.

In a separate post on her Instagram Stories a few days ago, Michelle Mylett also confirmed that the cast shot “14 new episodes” of Letterkenny in “just over a month and a half” for our streaming pleasure. That would seem like a lot more episodes than we would normally get for a season of Letterkenny; regardless, given the show will be pushing out two seasons and not just one, that should average out to seven episodes per season, which is on par with the seven episodes apiece we get for Season 8 and Season 9. (Early seasons were six episodes.)

This gels with what producer Mark Montefiore said a few months ago when he mentioned the next two seasons of Letterkenny would film back-to-back. Still, the news the show has wrapped is pretty monumental, as Letterkenny (like many shows) had some struggles getting back to filming during the pandemic. Luckily, Season 9 had already been in the can while a lot of stuff was shut down, so fans did get new episodes of the Hulu series as a nicely packaged holiday gift from the streaming service last year.

Still, it took a while for Season 10 to really start moving forward again. While there’s been other stuff from Season 10 and 11’s filming that has been rolling around the interwebs for a short while, it's unclear how long it will take to edit and get the episodes ready for their streaming debut. It's also unclear how long Hulu and Crave will wait in between pushing out the two seasons, it is a little reassuring to know there are at least 14 more episodes on the way.

Letterkenny Fans Sign Petition To Cast Jared Keeso In The MCU And I Suggest You Let That One Marinate

Jared Keeso has built up a vocal fanbase over the past half decade or so as his show Letterkenny has grown in popularity. Many of those fans mostly celebrate their love by obsessively quoting his character Wayne and complaining about new episodes not coming fast enough. A small minority, however, express their fandom by dream-casting Keeso into a wide variety of projects including ones of the superhero variety. The latest dream is to have Keeso play Wolverine, and you know, it’s actually a pretty good idea.

Much of the recent conversation has centered around a petition, hilariously started more than two years ago by a fan named Christopher Atkinson. He pushed for Keeso to be cast as Wolverine in light of his Canadian heritage, his history of playing a tough guy and the fact that he’s in good shape and the right size. The casting ask didn’t attract a ton of attention at the time, but in the years since, it has slowly picked up some steam to the point where it started running around a fair amount over the past month. It has now passed 5,000 suggestions and could keep growing.

My guess is the majority of Letterkenny fans likely don’t need an explanation on why Jared Keeso would make a great Wolverine. For those who don’t watch the show, I’ll do my best to explain the appeal, and for the record, if you don’t watch the show, examine your life choices, bud. It’s funny, well-written and contains a host of amazing side characters from the local town that show up just often enough. Think of it like a Canadian Parks and Rec if there was way more hockey, swearing and drug usage.

Anyway, on the show, Jared Keeso plays the local tough guy Wayne. He spends his time chorin’, drinking Gus N’ Bru, throwing hands and getting angry about degens and their bad behavior. He’s a strong silent type who projects a very intimidating physical presence. He also has a very sly sense of humor that never seems too forced. He certainly wouldn’t play Wolverine the same way as Hugh Jackman, but it’s easy to envision a really interesting, new take he might have. So, let’s all let that marinate awhile and hope the studio realizes the possibilities.

As for what Jared Keeso is actually up to, the 9th season of Letterkenny premiered on Hulu this past Christmas and was warmly received by many fans. We don’t have specific dates on upcoming seasons, but there has been talk of filming multiple seasons at once; so, there is hope we’ll get a larger collection of episodes in the future. Prior to the lockdowns, he was touring North America with his Letterkenny castmembers as part of a live show, but like everything else over the past year, it was delayed.

It’s unclear what the MCU’s plans for Wolverine might be moving forward now that Hugh Jackman has stepped away from the role and Disney once again owns all the X-Men characters and can incorporate them into the MCU if it so chooses. Marvel has a history of bettting on comedians in superhero roles, specifically pushing Chris Pratt to audition for Guardians when he didn't want to, but key players including The Russo Brothers have talked about how complicated recasting Jackman would be. So, until we hear something beyond just a fan petition, you probably should pump the breaks on your excitement.

The Best And Worst Guys Katy Has Dated On Letterkenny, According To Michelle Mylett

Dating can be hard, especially when bad gas travels fast in a small town. Combine that fact with a pool of potential flings famous for crazy slang and phrases and you'll see why it's especially difficult for the characters on Crave TV and Hulu's hit show Letterkenny to find true love. After a series of suitors ranging from drug addicts, preachers, and hockey players, Michelle Mylett, who plays Katy, has weighed in on the best and worst guys that she has dated on the hit show following the debut of its ninth season.

Fans of the show know that Katy is a headstrong character who "knows exactly what she wants" and dates whomever she wants, even if those decisions occasionally lead to major brawls and beatdowns. When asked by CinemaBlend if there was anyone she thought her character had dated on the show that was actually a good fit, this is what the badass sister of the toughest guy in Letterkenny had to say:

Weirdly, I thought Stewart was a nice fit only because they'd been friends, they've all known each other forever, but they had this kind of like lovely history where she was fond of him and sort of saw him and his goodness. Obviously, he took a turn and that wouldn't have worked for Katy at this point, but I thought that was a nice fit. I think Katy’s a pretty easy breezy person as far as who she dates, but I don't know if she's dated her soulmate yet.

Now, her answer may come as a bit of a shock to those who have yet to see the crazy story arc that Stewart has gone through over the show's nine seasons, but after giving it some thought, I think it makes perfect sense. He seemed to be the only person she had a genuine connection with and they do have a history that dates back a number of years. While her relationship with Reilly and Jonesy is... interesting, it never felt like the healthiest dynamic for Katy-Kat.

There are, however, some boyfriends that Mylett felt were even worse matches than those mentioned above, claiming the most terrible to be, of course:

Dierks.

Her quick response in our interview should come as no shock. Katy's latest Letterkenny boyfriend, Dierks, who has a nickname that I will not repeat here, was clearly a real piece of work. When I asked Nathan Dales, who plays Daryl, he was slightly most hesitant in his answer at first, but quickly came around, claiming:

Dierks is pretty bad but the “citiots’ from... no, no Dierks, never mind, fuck that, pardon me, Dierks. Done.

I have to agree with this one. While others may have cheated on Katy in the past, she was very clear with Dierks that if he wanted to date her, he had to be all in. Wayne even told the smooth-talking American that "I'm just dying to get a piece of you" and "if you misstep, you'll have every dude in Letterkenny lined up around the block for ya, and I'll be comin' first." The shirtless "citiots" can't compete with the missteps Dierks made with Katy.

Even off camera, the show has had an impact on some of the actors' love lives. Actor K. Trevor Wilson, who plays Squirrely Dan and has his own peculiar love language, had to publicly ask fans to stop berating him and his fiancée with one of his most infamous lines from the show. It seems that the show has made quite an impact on fans of comedy while also taking ruthless shots at pop culture, with no signs of "takin' about 20 percent off or so."

K. Trevor Wilson Discusses The Origin Of Squirrely Dan’s Strange Dialogue on LetterKenny

CraveTV’s hit Canadian comedy LetterKenny is known for its wild dialogue and phrases rooted in pop-culture deep cuts, hockey smack talk and good-old fashioned country living. The show’s cast of characters each bring their own signature sayings from “ferda boys” to “pitter-patter,” some being so foreign they are almost unintelligible to those of us living south of the Canadian border. Squirrelly Dan, played by K. Trevor Wilson, is known for his own idiosyncratic approach to dialogue as he interjects an “s” into seemingly random words. In a recent interview he shed some light on exactly how the team behind LetterKenny decided to use such strange dialogue for Squirrelly Dan.

When asked about the origin of Squirrelly Dan’s unique line delivery, K. Trevor Wilson noted that it’s a team effort to decide exactly where the enigmatic “s” will land:

It's funny. We actually have discussions before some scenes about what words I should add “s’s” to. I've sat down with Nate, Jacob and Jared. And we're like, ‘is it funnier if I say all the “s’s” here, or if I save up the plural to the very end of the whole sentence?’

Over the course of the show’s 9 Season run, there have been some notable catch phrases featuring that mysterious “s” including the famed “That’s what I appreciates about you.” But the origin story of Squirrelly Dan’s dialogue stems from K. Trevor Wilson’s stint as a standup comedian:

It really came from Dan, who was sort of the third Hick added. Nate and Jared had already established their characters in the YouTube shorts originally. So when I joined up, I wanted to do something different than the other two characters. Being a touring standup [I] spent a lot of years playing small towns. My buddy and I, Ryan Dennee, toured together a lot and we'd go to these towns and we'd have guys come up to us after the show and this was how they talked. English was their first language, but they mispronounced words left, right and center. They added “s’s” where there didn't need to be “s’s”. We would do these impressions on the road, in between gigs to each other to make each other laugh. So I brought that to the show. I was like, ‘I think this, this would work with Dan’ and started doing that. Jacob and Jared were both very quick to be like, ‘we liked that, that works, please keep doing that’. And it just became a permanent fixture to how to write Dan. But it did just came from being in small towns and having a hundred guys come up to me and being like, ‘You knows, yous a pretty funny standsup comedians’ And it's like, great. I don't know where that came from.

According to Wilson, the strange dialogue is actually rooted in real people he met on the road! The more I watch this show, the less I understand Canada. The choice makes sense though, as LetterKenny is based on small rural communities in Ontario.

Since the show’s first season, Squirrelly Dan has been a staple of LetterKenny, sometimes at the center of some of the show’s best episodes. Squirrelly Dan fans will recognize the character from his strange manner of speaking, philosophical prompts and the occasional dirty joke. K. Trevor Wilson has recently spoken out about some of the more promiscuous dialogue from his character being used as lewd jokes towards himself and his wife. So, if you plan on making jokes about the famed "butt stuff" scene to K. Trevor Wilson, expect him to tell you to take your tank top, tonka truck and to kick rocks.

Why Letterkenny's K Trevor Wilson Has Had Enough Of 'The Butt Stuff'

When you become a celebrity, it's inevitable that some things are bound to change, such as your interactions with the everyday public and the types of quotes that you may have shouted at you. Back in the old days, you had to physically see celebrities out in the wild to praise or accost them. With how easy it is to find and even insult celebrities via social media, all that has changed. K. Trevor Wilson, who plays Squirrely Dan on the popular Crave TV show Letterkenny, discovered this in an alarming fashion. In fact, he finally had to request that fans stop quoting one particular bit that his character has become well known for on the show.

Compared to the majority of the characters on Letterkenny, Dan has some of the tamest popular lines on the show. So, I was surprised to find out that actor K. Trevor Wilson finally had to ask fans to stop quoting one conversation that took place over a friendly game of catch. Once he brought up the specific subject matter and mentioned that not only is he getting annoyed, but his fiancée is also being pulled into the heckling, it all made a lot more sense. I sat down with a few Letterkenny cast members to discuss some of my favorite quotes and to praise the fast-talking, hilariously obscene dialogue in Season 9 when Wilson revealed that it's not always a barrel of laughs when those lines reach you in the real world.

The butt stuff has plagued me. In fact, I several times asked the internet to stop making comments about the butt stuff when I post about me and my fiancée. There are just... I understand it's funny on the show, but we've got to remember that in real life, you don't talk about butt stuff with the general public. That is for your closest friends during a game of catch and your most intimate partner. You don't ask about butt stuff on the interwebs.

K. Trevor recently even took his message a step further on social media, sharing his frustrations with his followers. You can see his tweet and how serious he is about the matter in his last sentence:

Now, to be fair (to be faaaaiiiiirrr) the whole scene is very memorable and easily quotable. But it's easy to see how having strangers comment about your characters' sex life could ruin the mood in your real life. I think it's time we give these nice people a break.

After this revelation, I decided to dig a little deeper into the writing room process to find out more. Letterkenny is clearly one of the funniest shows out there. But if what we get to see on the show is already so ridiculous, what other comedic genius is getting left on the cutting room floor for going too far? Wondering what obscenities could potentially be getting tweeted to the cast, I asked director, writer, and actor Jacob Tierney, who plays Glen, if there were ever any lines that were simply too over the top to keep in the script:

We definitely brought things to the table that were so outlandish that I had to be like, ‘Lisa (Gail), I'm very sorry, but my ears cannot hear that’. She's the dirtiest, filthiest member of the cast. I finally said it. The secret's out and I feel better.

The Letterkenny Cast Explains Why We Don’t See The Resolution To That Major Cliffhanger

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Season 9, Episode 1 of Letterkenny. If you haven't checked out the new season yet, then pitter patter.

Few cult shows in recent memory seem to have viewers as divided as Crave TV's Letterkenny. People seem to either love or hate the fast-talking, slang-driven, often obscene Canadian comedy, which has recently returned for its ninth season on Hulu. I was ecstatic to find out that even amidst a pandemic, Season 9 was shipped and would be ready for me to binge on Hulu on Christmas day. But after the first episode, I was a bit surprised to find that the season premiere had no footage of the biggest Season 8 cliffhanger. What happened in the fight with Dierks? Luckily, I received some explanation.

In my experience, when introducing someone to the show for the first time, they will decide whether or not they are ready to binge it all or stand up for a scrap before the end of the very first scene. The show is renowned for being vulgar yet witty, offensive while still progressive, and has a strange moral compass that makes it difficult to determine if the best episodes of the series are those which force you to rethink your own stance on modern-day issues or those with bits so ridiculous they cause you to choke on your bottle of Gus N' Bru.

I sat down with a few Letterkenny cast members for the Season 9 premiere to discuss why that particular fight wasn’t shown when the series picked back up for the latest season. Here’s what director, writer, and actor Jacob Tierney, who plays Glen, had to say about the decision to leave out the big brawl when the latest season hit Hulu:

I mean, we do a lot of fights, so sometimes by not showing a fight, you've shown a great fight. We want to surprise you. We can't just give you endless fights. And I think also in keeping with the spirit of the show, where there's not a lot of bullying and bullying isn't rewarded, I didn't really want to watch twelve people beat up one guy. I don't mind knowing it happened, but I'm not going to need to see it.

This seems to make sense, in hindsight. As much as I wanted to actually see Dierks get what was coming to him, watching the Letterkenny crew all gang up on one man wouldn't exactly display the "fair fight" aesthetic that fans have come to know and love. The show has never shied away from violence or taking endless shots at pop culture. But Letterkenny has also gone deep into some moral principles of the characters in the show (“when a man asks for help, you help him”). As the show has matured (is "matured" the right word?) it appears that the writers have drawn the line at showing a twelve-on-one beat down, as Michelle Mylett, who plays Katy, went on to discuss:

It's funny because a lot of people were like, ‘I'm so excited for the new season, because we finally get to see everybody kick the shit out of Dierks!’ And I totally understand wanting to see that, but I think filming a scene where it's a group of people beating up one person is maybe not on brand for LetterKenny, because it's one thing to imagine what that is. It's another to see that maybe it's a little bit too dark or like bully-ish or something. That was kind of what I was thinking, but I get people wanting to see it at the same time.

It appears that while leaving out what would no doubt be shocking footage of a well-deserved scrap, there’s more at play here than simply avoiding the violence. By not showing exactly what happened, we as viewers are left to draw our own conclusions. As Nathan Dales, who plays Daryl puts it, sometimes leaving things up to the viewers own imagination is the best way to get the point across:

Like Michelle said, I get that people want to see that and that they want to be shown what happened, exactly. But I think it's kind of better if it's left up to the imagination as to what we did as a group to him for being such a dirtbag...I think not showing it gives people their imagination and they can run wild. ‘What did they do? What did they not do? Did they just pull down his pants and give him a spanking? Or did they actually beat the shit out of him?’ You know, who knows? But the point is you get to draw your own conclusions. You know something happened and that's sort of where it was best left.

First Letterkenny Season 9 Scene Has Wayne And Co. Taking Shots At Angie And I Can’t Get Enough

Letterkenny is finally making a comeback on Hulu and Crave and it’s doing the dang thing before the end of the year. We already got a first look at some of the returning characters in the upcoming season, as well as what to expect from the episodes, but what we didn’t get was Letterkenny’s unique combo of highbrow/lowbrow jokes. Thanks to a new Hulu clip, we now are able to enjoy the gang ripping on Angie to our heart's content.

Obviously, I can’t get enough of the gang taking shots at Angie, whether that be Katy kicking her straight in the box or generally other people making snide comments and taking Wayne’s side when it comes to Angie and her cheating heart. Angie pops up occasionally, but apparently in Season 9, she’s going to be busy reinventing herself again. This time, she’ll be no puck bunny. In fact though, Daryl is the one who seems most disgusted by the newest version of Angie, noting,

Daryl: She’s acting different like someone who’s gone traveling for the first time and then come home and is acting different.Dan: Is there anything worse?Wayne: Stillborn puppies, and nothing else.

This looks to be the first cold open for Letterkenny Season 9 and it comes complete with Wayne holding some puppies. So I'm pretty excited about how the whole scene plays out. Meanwhile, ripping on Angie has been an age-old pastime for the characters on the Hulu series for a while now, given the way Wayne's "flame" ended the relationship with him. Angie was never fond of Wayne's reputation in town nor his fighting, but then when he shaped up for her she cheated on him. The rest is Letterkenny history.

Angie only pops up in a few episodes of the series, but she's pretty unlikable the few times we meet her, so talking about her in this manner behind her back is unsurprising and probably as deeply satisfying for most other Letterkenny fans as it is for me. Despite this, given this is a cold open and given Hulu already revealed the new season would feature several through lines including Tanis creating her own energy drink, the hockey players learning about Judaism and the whole gang attending an American Buck and Doe, we may not hear much more about Angie during Season 9 of Letterkenny.

We initially expected the new episodes to hit Crave and Hulu in 2021; however, that has turned out to not be the case. The new episodes will actually hit Hulu on Saturday, December 26 -- just after the holiday. Hope you'll be able to relieve any family stress with some much-needed laughter, bud. At least that's something to look forward to this pandemic-filled holiday season.

Letterkenny’s Michelle Mylett Shares Funny Set Video As Hulu Preps For Season 9 Release

While a lot of the cast of Hulu and Crave’s Letterkenny are not particularly active on social media, there are a few leads, including Michelle Mylett, Dylan Playfair and Kamilla Koval (Bonnie McMurray…) who do post a little more often. While we know Season 9 is on the way before the end of the year now, it wasn't as perhaps out of nowhere as you'd guess. One of the clues that should have helped us to anticipate the new episodes were on the way sooner rather than later may have been a funny set video shared by Michelle Mylett ahead of the announcement.

While the video in question wasn’t necessarily moments from the upcoming Season 9, it should probably have, in fact, alerted us to the fact the cast was at least champing at the bit to get back to work earlier this month.

She wasn’t the only Letterkenny star to get us hyped pre-trailer, so perhaps we should have seen the signs. In fact, lead Dylan Playfair also used an abundance of ellipses in a post that probably should have given us a hint that new Letterkenny was coming down the pipeline.

As it turns out, Letterkenny will have the batch of Season 9 episodes out sooner than we expected. That’s because earlier this year, producer Mark Montefiore had said that even though the show was renewed it wouldn’t be going into production for a while--and that was namely due to safety precaution cost increases and more related to global events this year, so most of us weren’t expecting new episodes in 2020 at all. Per Montefiore:

Unfortunately we had to push our production from this year to next year because of COVID-related insurance issues. COVID means that there are a very few amount of productions that are able to happen right now. COVID expenses to be able to make the set safe have ballooned, and insurance is lacking right now.

And yet, now we have a trailer, a plot synopsis -- which includes Tanis starting her own energy drink brand -- and a Hulu release date on December 26. This answers some of the lingering questions we’ve had about the upcoming episodes. In addition, as Jonesy actor Andrew Herr put it on Instagram after the trailer was released, it’s really just good timing, noting, “It’s been a tough year for a lot of people in 2020, so let’s end it with some laughs during Christmas time!”

Next up, Letterkenny is hoping to film Season 10 and Season 11 back-to-back. Season 10 may seem like a milestone for the series, but while it is an impressive number of seasons, it should be noted the show only films a handful of episodes each season. At the end of Season 9, the show will have reached 61 episodes, so we have a while before Hulu’s Letterkenny breaks the iconic 100-episode mark.

Surprise, Letterkenny Finally Has A Premiere Date For Season 9 And There's A Trailer, Bud

Letterkenny is one of Hulu's most highly-anticipated originals. On for eight seasons so far, I think a lot of fans have been champing at the bit for news about Season 9. However, there's been very little word about the new episodes outside of some minor filming news coming down the pipeline in recent weeks. However, Katy, Wayne, Dan, Daryl and the rest of the gang are finally coming back and before the end of the year as well. That's what it's all about (aboot/aboat?).

A new release from Hulu indicates we will be getting Season 9 of Letterkenny for the holidays this year. The new episodes will hit Hulu on Saturday, December 26. I am extremely hopeful that Wayne will take the opportunity to hand out a set of gifts, perhaps with the help of Bonnie McMurray again this year, but if not I'd also take an inappropriate Christmas joke or two from Gail. Whatever happens, it's still a nice gift from Hulu, particularly given it's coming at a time when the service is upping its prices.

Still, mostly I'm just happy the show is finally coming back. I know it hasn't been such a long time since there were new episodes of the series to plow through, but 2020 has been a particularly long year in general for most of us. One of the things that just so happened to be affected was the Letterkenny schedule.

The Hulu and Crave series was originally supposed to get off of the ground in August or September of 2020, at least in terms of filming. But allegedly that didn't happen. Last we heard --and this was from producer Mark Montefiore-- delays had occurred and the show had expected a 2021 premiere date. So even though Season 9 is going to swoop onto the TV schedule just in time for the end of the year, which seems late, it's still sooner than most of us expected. And the announcement came with puppies to boot.

Letterkenny is hardly the only series that has seen delays in 2020. From additional insurance and safety measures to ballooning budgets to accommodate the insurance and safety measures, there's been a lot to factor in. Even when shows have gone back into production, some of them have had to shut down again, as recently happened with Henry Cavill's The Witcher.

Yet, Letterkenny made it work. And while we don't see a ton in the trailer outside of fighting and a few character-specific moments, Hulu also delightfully shared a synopsis that indicates the Hockey players will "learn about Judaism," Tanis will start "her own energy drink" brand, and the whole gang (hicks, skids, hockey players) will attend an American Buck and Doe, which I didn't even know was a thing. In addition, we now know there will be seven new episodes this season and I can't wait to see how they play out. The good news? For once, we don't have too much longer to wait.

Letterkenny Isn't Going Back Into Production For A While, But There Is A Silver Lining

In a situation that is more pump the breaks than pitter patter, Letterkenny had been expected to get off the ground for its monumental 10th season on Hulu this summer. Filming had been anticipated for August and September of this year; however, like many a TV series, Letterkenny had to pump the breaks following quarantine restrictions and more related to the pandemic around the world. Now, however, we’re finally learning when the series may be getting back to filming. Spoiler: It’s still going to be a bit, but there is at least a little bit of good news.

We’re clearly past the August and September timeframe at this point, and now it looks as if Letterkenny is not set to move forward until 2021. Those related to the series are pumped about the new season’s scripts; regardless, the actual filming is not expected to begin now until the Spring of 2021. There is a silver lining, however.

When last we checked up on Letterkenny it had been renewed for Season 9. Now, however, executive producer Mark Montefiore recently said that when the show comes back they hope to film Season 10 and Season 11 back-to-back. That seems like probably it's a typo, give Season 9 is coming down the pipeline next. However, either way the comment does indicate two more seasons are coming and will be filmed quickly. So while we may need to grab a Puppers and rewatch favorite old episodes in the meantime, at least we can feel a little excited about the fact the show is nowhere near taking its final bow yet and there will be a lot more coming.

Letterkenny’s Mark Montefiore was the one who broke the news, noting to Sudbury.com that the Canadian fan-favorite is a bit of a cult favorite and not exactly getting the money per episode that Game of Thrones did. AKA it doesn’t exactly have a ton of extra budget dollars to play with. Given that the 2020 pandemic has led to increased testing, insurance and safety precautions for COVID-19, that has a huge effect on budgets, and apparently that wasn’t a feasible option for the Crave and Hulu series.

Unfortunately we had to push our production from this year to next year because of COVID-related insurance issues. COVID means that there are a very few amount of productions that are able to happen right now. COVID expenses to be able to make the set safe have ballooned, and insurance is lacking right now.

Letterkenny isn’t the only TV series that had to be pushed back due to the pandemic nor is it the only series that is still seeing delays due to current global events. We’ll keep you updated as soon as the popular comedy moves forward, but for now you can see what Hulu does have in the slate with our full October schedule. There's no need to get into the Gus 'N Bru yet.

Letterkenny Season 9: 7 Big Questions We Have About The New Season

You’re watching the most recent season of Letterkenny the other dayee and after having a good cry over that heartwarming finale, you find yourself wondering, How is Season 9 going to top that? Naturally, that then leads you to ponder when you might be able to see the next season of the popular Hulu exclusive comedy series at all.

Co-developed by Jared Keeso (who also plays central hick Wayne) and Jacob Tierney (who also directs and stars as Glen), the cult sitcom profiling the lives of a rural Canadian community (which originally debuted on the Canada-based streaming platform Crave, on which it is still available in the Great White North) has been confirmed for Season 9 as of June 2020. The question is when we should be able to expect to see more fighting, chirpin’, and maybe a limerick or two, among plenty more things to speculate over.

To be fair (“Tooooooo beeeeeee faaaaaaaaaairrrrrrrrrrr!”), people who fail to anticipate the upcoming continuation of a popular series with a healthy dose of patience end up just being a poopy-pants about it. Yet, when it comes to a series as clever, funny, and lovably relatable as Letterkenny, we cannot help but ask for the production to pitter patter, as well as a few other burning questions. That being said, when will Season 9 get at ‘er?

When Is Letterkenny Season 9 Going Into Production?

As has been the case with most ongoing TV shows and upcoming movies in 2020, your guess is as good as ours regarding when the cameras will roll on the new season as production continues to endure a Covid-19 related pause. To add fuel to the fire, back in March, the Letterkenny crew cancelled the remainder of its North American tour of live shows until further notice for the same reason. Hulu and the rest behind the series have remained relatively silent about the issue and we suggest you’ll just have to let that one marinate until confirmation of Season 9 back in production is announced.

When Will Season 9 Of Letterkenny Premiere?

Considering production of the ninth season itself remains up in the air, the date of its official premiere on Hulu (and on Crave in Canada, respectively) is yet another certainty we do not have at the moment. While we could expect Letterkenny to return in the Fall of 2021, we could assume the same for many series without knowing for sure. Fortunately, we have more questions that are relatively easier to speculate over.

How Many Episodes Will Letterkenny Season 9 Have?

Going off of the last couple seasons of Letterkenny, we might be expected to see seven more episodes for Season 9. This was a change from the typical collection of six episodes each before Hulu officially acquired American distribution rights in early 2019. These would often be followed by an unofficial seventh episode between seasons in the form of a holiday special, which leads us to our next question…

Will There Be A New Holiday Special?

Since the release of “St. Perfect’s Day” between the second and third season, Letterkenny has put out five holiday-themed episodes, the last being “Valentime’s Day” after Season 6. Considering we were not treated with a special between the seventh and eight seasons, we would hope that Season 9 could reignite that tradition with an episode that shows us how the Hicks like to celebrate New Year’s Eve or Thanksgiving, which are among the few major holidays nationally recognized in Canada that they have yet to touch. Heck, even if the next special delves into a holiday American audiences won’t know squat about, we would still be game.

Is Clark Backo Coming Back As Rosie?

It was a treat to see Clark Backo, also known for her guest spot on The Handmaid’s Tale and recurring role on Supernatural, return for Letterkenny’s eighth season as Rosie, who reignited her and Wayne’s romance following their awkward Season 3 breakup. This was especially satisfying after Wayne’s doubly devastating end with the unfaithful Marie-Fred (Magalie Lépine Blondeau) in Season 7. Since we have no evidence to support the contrary from the events of Season 8 or in the news, we only hope that we will see more of Backo and, in turn, more of Wayne and Rosie as an item.

Is Tyler Hynes Coming Back As Dierks?

One person whom we would not mind seeing less of in Season 9 of Letterkenny is Dierks, played by Tyler Hynes (who had previously appeared on Star Trek: Discovery), who was revealed to be two-timing Katy (Michelle Mylett) at the conclusion of the Season 8 finale. On the other hand, it would be pretty nice to see the outcome of that epic cliffhanger, in which the bulk of the main cast rushed toward the cheater with clenched fists and vengeful eyes. However, like Clark Backo, Hynes’ inclusion in the new season is currently unconfirmed.

Can We Expect A Season 10 Of Letterkenny Soon After Season 9?

With Letterkenny releasing two seasons per year since its 2016 debut, it would not be out of left field to assume that a tenth season would be close to follow Season 9, supposedly in the winter of 2021. Of course, that would mean that the ninth season would drop in the preceding fall and, well, that is just another thing we cannot be certain about either. On top of that, Season 10 has yet to be confirmed anyway, so why don’t we take about 10 percent off there for the time being?

The Best Non-Hick Letterkenny Side Characters, Rated From 10 To 1-Ply

You’re enjoying your 17th consecutive binge of Letterkenny the other dayeee when you begin to contemplate which character, outside of the four main Hicks, you think you like the best. Then, you begin to realize that the most effective way to determine this decision is to figure out which side character from the Hulu exclusive is the one with the most “ply.”

A devoted fan of the absurd comedy, which provides honest commentary on life in rural Canada, would understand that “10-ply” is classic Letterkenny slang for calling someone “soft,” which can either refer to their physical or emotional vulnerability, or even both. Given how the titular town’s citizens, especially Wayne (Letterkenny creator Jared Keeso), tend to judge each other this way, we figured why not do the same in an effort to rank our favorite characters.

We deliberately left out the Hicks because ranking and rating them would be too easy, with Katy (Michelle Mylett), at most, a 3-ply, Daryl (Nathan Dales) and Squirrely Dan (K. Trevor Wilson) both at about 2, and Wayne proving enough times that he pretty much borders on zero-ply. However, the following Letterkenny side characters are fair game to decide who among them is most emotionally secure, physically tough, and also hilariously quippy on a scale of 10-ply (the softest) to 1-ply (the strongest). Who can defend their honor?

10. Glen

Portrayed by Letterkenny co-developer Jacob Tierney (who also directs most episodes), Glen is undoubtedly one of the funniest characters on the series (particularly for the countless double entendres that allude to his supposed sexuality), but he is softer than a brand-new feather pillow on an untouched cotton field, maybe even more physically than emotionally. His struggle to commit to the conflicts he starts himself and complete lack of effort to hide (or, perhaps, genuinely accept) his true nature are probably why he was forced out of his position as pastor at Grace Fellowship Church, leaving him to take a job at MoDean’s II (later MoD3an’s).

Rating: 10-Ply

9. Coach

The essential reason Letterkenny’s local hockey coach (Mark Forward) is ever funnier than Glen is how irresistibly amusing it is to see him at his most “fucking embarrassing” moments. However, when Coach is not mourning his late wife, Barb, or throwing a childish fit over a game loss, he could rival the Hicks at name-calling, as he proved in the Valentine’s Day special, but only if his opponent has no comeback most likely.

Rating: 8-Ply

8. Roald

I would deem more susceptible to any name-calling or similar offense would have to be Roald (Evan Stern), who is one of the more quotable side characters (“Stert!”) but is, comparatively, the weakest representation of the Skids in Letterkenny, due to his unflinching devotion to Stewart, which sometimes comes off as pathetic. However, in retrospect, such loyalty can be hard to come by and is worthy of respect. Not to mention, at least he is open and accepting about his homosexuality, unlike some people.

Rating: 7-Ply

7. Stewart

Speaking of the Skids, their unquestionable leader is Stewart (Tyler Johnston), who is a Grade-A pain in the ass for his blind defiance of anything close to conformity (which is at least funny to us), but, on the other hand, the Letterkenny Valentine’s Day special did see Stewart and Wayne in a rare moment of peace and commonality, which helps boost his chances on this list by quite a bit. What really boosts his score here, however, was how unexpectedly ripped he got Season 8, giving him a much-needed leg-up when the tarps come off.

Rating: 5-Ply

6. McMurray

Speaking of tarps off, fighting has never been much of a problem for Letterkenny’s Agricultural Hall President, McMurray (Dan Petroijevic), especially when they are degens mucking things up. Yet, therein lies the problem as he often tends to get a little too excited when there ain’t no reason to. Plus, you best not bring up homosexuality around him or he’ll get “kinda weird talking about it.”

Rating: 5-Ply

5. Bonnie McMurray

McMurray’s daughter Bonnie (Kamilla Kowal), also everyone’s favorite server at MoD3an’s, is not really the fighting type, but never fails to bring out the deepest ply within most men (and sometimes Katy) with her breathtaking beauty (“Ohhhhh, Bonnie McMurrayyyy”). Not to mention, she is usually quite strong in her convictions, whenever she actually has any, and rarely seems threatened by anything or anyone in Letterkenny, unlike her father.

Rating: 4-Ply

4. Jonesy And Reilly

Two frequent victims of Bonnie McMurray’s appeal are Jonesy (Andrew Herr) and Reilly (Dylan Playfair), who are so astonishingly co-dependent on each other that, for a while, either had no issue dating Katy at the same time in earlier episodes of Letterkenny. That being said, their bromance is the kind that some men would only dream to have with their own biological siblings and is the secret to their success on the hockey rink.

Rating: 4-Ply

3. Gail

One thing that Gail (Lisa Codrington), the proud owner or MoD3an’s, undisputedly has on Jonesy and Reilly is her resilience to any kind of disrespect, which she can almost be too quick to snap at, if we are being honest. Plus, “soft” is certainly not the word one would ever describe a woman as uncomfortably open about her sexual conquests as she.

Rating: 3-Ply

2. Shoresy

You could also say that about Shoresy (played by a disguised Jared Keeso), even though his openness about his sexual conquests is not ever actually genuine, but a means to taunt Jonesy and Reilly, any other Letterkenny hockey teammate or opponent, and pretty much anyone else he comes into contact with. Until the day that this degen says the wrong thing to Wayne, his rapid-fire chirpin’ is most welcome and nothing short of legendary.

Rating: 2-Ply

1. Tanis

Being this tough never quite looked as good as it does on Tanis (Kaniehtiio Horn), the leader of the Natives at the “Rez” outside of Letterkenny, whose only reason for backing down from (or instigating) a fight (even though she has enough men to do it for her) would be to let her nails dry. Before you could just start to think about make fun of her for that, she would have already broken your spirit with an intimidating glance and sharp tongue that almost got the best of Wayne during the short time they were an item. To quote her father Wally (Joseph Nakogee), “If you find yourselves in her way, you ought to swiftly get out of it,” and that’s just what we love about her.

Rating: 1-Ply

You’re watching some of the best episodes of Letterkenny the other dayeee when you figure subtitles might be in order if you are going to try to keep up with its signature rapid-fire dialogue. Of course, even flipping on that setting barely does the trick as the TV show – streaming exclusively with a Hulu subscription in the States – is pertnear full of lingo only natives of the Great White North would understand. You are probably even scratching your head over what “pertnear” means, aren’t ya?

Despite being the hicks’ unofficial leader, it is difficult to imagine someone like Wayne in a position of authority, yet, that is just what he attempts to achieve when he accepts a nomination against McMurray (Dan Petronijevic) as Letterkenny’s Agriculture Hall President, but not without some reluctance. He never has prove his initial hesitate as warranted, however, since Stewart’s attack ad for him, including some hilariously uninspired recreations of iconic commercials (i.e. “Whassup!”) and an immaturely profane campaign slogan, costs him the election.

Fortunately, it never costs this episode any laughs, for it has some of the finest pop culture parody on Letterkenny, a healthy dash of political commentary, and sees fan favorite McMurray and his wife (Melanie Scrofano) in a moment of hilarious competitiveness.

9. The Letterkenny Leave (Season 4, Episode 5)

While McMurrays can be quite competitive, what they specialize in is awkward, overt sexuality, that is bad enough between the two of them, but if seemingly directed outward, that's when things can get a bit dicey. Such is the case when they throw a hot tub party of which their true motives are put into question, prompting Wayne, Katy, and Daryl to plan a swift exit, while, an oblivious Dan continues to enjoy the jacuzzi along with Gail and Glen, who seem more visibly aware of what this hot tub get-together is (allegedly) a cover for. This uproarious Letterkenny classic puts you directly into Wayne’s mindset with a direct threat to your comfort zone.

8. A Fuss At The Golf Course (Season 4, Episode 2)

It is oddly satisfying when Coach (Mark Forward), the bumbling mentor of Letterkenny’s hockey team, suffers so much embarrassment, as he calls it, despite all his life’s tragedy, but never has he deserved such ridicule more than when he schemed to keep Canada goose droppings off of the local golf course by pouring oil on their eggs to prevent hatching. This puts the McMurrays and the hicks in a much justifiable tizzy, coming to the “Canada Gooses’” rescue without hesitation. The group spends the entirety of their day harassing Coach and his golf buddies over their handling of the goose situation, even their own well-thought out solutions, in this funny sight of good triumphing over manic aggression that also serves as a meaningful message against animal cruelty.

7. Super Soft Birthday (Season 1, Episode 2)

While the pilot of Letterkenny was a perfect way to acquaint audiences with its unique tone, the following episode may be more essential in establishing the characters’ true nature. We see Daryl at peak insecurity pleading against his traditional birthday party, the skids enjoying dance sessions outside the dollar store, Wayne defending his title as the toughest guy in Letterkenny, Jonesy (Andrew Herr) and Reilly (Dylan Playfair) auditioning for Canada’s The Amazing Race in a post-credits sequence, and the birth of one of the series’ best running gags: talk of the Ginger’s lewd act with an ostrich (“allegedly”).

“Super Soft Birthday” may not even have the series’ absolute best party scenes either, in my opinion, but it is a super quotable, relentlessly entertaining must for a Letterkenny watch party.

6. We Don’t Fight At Weddings (Season 5, Episode 1)

As the previous episode had made clear, Wayne is never one to back down from the chance of a fight, the one exception being while in attendance at a wedding. However, while attending the nuptials of Dax (Gregory Waters) and Ron (James Daly), the hicks are tempted to break their rule when they fall prey to mockery from a trio of “citiots,” but eventually find the perfect way to uphold the rule by having Katy, Bonnie, and Tanis luring the three urban degens into a nearby motel room where Wayne, Daryl, and Dan are waiting, fists clenched.

I applaud this Season 5 opener, also featuring a great soundtrack spot during the climactic fight which hilariously coincides with the grooms’ first dance, for an example of a sitcom episode giving you exactly the ending you anticipated.

5. Uncle Eddie’s Trust (Season 2, Episode 5)

Few series poke fun at pop culture the way Letterkenny does and the means of which they take a shot at reality television in this particular episode, in which Wayne and Katy try to decide on a way to benefit the community with heir inheritance, is breathlessly funny and original.

The bulk of the episode resembles how entrepreneurs present their business ventures to the hosts of Shark Tank and each side characters’ pitch is pretty much identical to certain popular reality series, with some unsubtle jabs at any logical flaws in their concepts and even any controversies they may have faced. “Uncle Eddie’s Trust” is a prime example of the series’ clever parodic style as well as a fun ode the central casts’ colorful personalities.

4. Letterkenny Talent Show (Season 4, Episode 4)

There is even more of that to be found in the Season 4 episode in which Wayne and Katy become judges for a town’s own talent competition, hosted by the auctioneer Jim Dickens (Alex McCooeye) whose talking speed puts new meaning to Letterkenny’s unequivocally quick dialogue.

Aside from the obvious tribute to America’s Got Talent throughout, every featured act serves the dual purpose of paying tribute to characters’ essential traits (such as Coach’s interruption-prone ballad about his late wife prematurely concluding in a fit of anger) and to an essential cultural institution (most notably Gail’s rendition of an adult film that sparks Katy’s interest). The performance that takes the cake, however, is Daryl’s dance, which begins awkwardly until the rest of the cast joins him onstage for an unusually heartwarming conclusion to a much-expected display of hilarity.

3. Holy Sheet (Season 8, Episode 6)

We have covered Letterkenny’s style of parody plentifully, but not so much its incomparably glorious use of double entendres, of which the series’ crowning achievement, in my opinion, comes from the eighth and most recent (and, potentially, best) season. The hicks’ Mennonite acquaintances Noah (Jonathan Torrens) and Anita Dyck (Sarah Wayne Callies) have a tendency for misleading communication, which, in this instance, leads Wayne, Dan, and Daryl to suspect they want more than just a hand with some chores based on gossip that some Amish have offered outsiders to procreate with their daughters. The persistent and unpredictably funny series of puns and innuendos is so bold and meticulously crafted that you cannot help but wonder if the boys’ horrifying suspicions are true.

2. St. Perfect’s Day (Season 2, Episode 7)

We also covered at the top of the list Letterkenny’s tradition for holiday specials, the best of which, I believe, is the first, which takes place on one eventful St. Patrick’s Day. The episode is also one of the few that is told mostly through flashbacks, since the gang has to help fill in the blanks of what took place at the previous night’s St. Patty’s celebration for Daryl who, despite his friends’ assurance of his “legendary” partygoer presence, cannot remember a thing. Each of the hicks take turns recalling the night from their point of view, guaranteeing a more than few boisterous twists and turns that assure this episode’s titular claim of perfection is genuine.

1. Day Beers Day (Season 8, Episode 7)

I mentioned how the most recent season of Letterkenny may be its greatest, and my top reason is its finale in which Wayne and Katy's respective romantic arcs come to momentous conclusions. While the bulk of the cast enjoy brews for Day Beers Day (which, technically, makes this a holiday special), Wayne finds closure with cheating his ex (Magalie Lépine Blondeau), who also informs him that Katy’s current trip to comfort her hungover boyfriend Dierks (Tyler Hynes) is doomed based on signs of infidelity.

The rare sight of character favorites simply enjoying each other’s time together was enjoyable, when merriment's transition into an urgent collective effort to come to Katy's aid is the most satisfying episode or season ender yet, showing how much these characters do care for each other, making one proud to be a fan of this weird little show.

DMX’s Barks (Season 6, Episode 5)

This fun Letterkenny cold open reveals Katy's “low-key” love of DMX. Wayne also expresses his admiration for the “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” rapper, particularly as an animal lover “on account of him always barkin’ like a dog in his songs.” After Daryl’s fail to imitate the gruff essence of DMX’s signature “arf, arf” earns comparisons to a cat, Katy demonstrates the barks' power by concluding an impromptu hardcore rap verse with an underwhelming "meow."

Dating Apps (Season 1, Episode 1)

Letterkenny’s pilot episode showed how risque the show was willing to be with this bit that sees Daryl take the recently dumped Wayne to a singles function at the local church where they run into devout Christian, Margaret (Kelly Lamb). When Daryl explains that Wayne has been spending a lot of time on Tinder, Margaret – under the impression that Tinder is just gay dating app Grindr in disguise – condemns the use of such technology with an unnecessarily in-depth description of its users’ activities. This also serves as a perfect introduction to the series’ use of side characters who are a little too open about their close-mindedness.

What To Watch On Streaming If You Like South Park

The world of animation has never been the same since the introduction of South Park. While the series may be banned in China, it has been made exclusively available to stream on HBO Max. Furthermore, there are plenty other movies and TV shows of thematic similarities also available on Netflix, Hulu, and/or HBO Max.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s Emmy-winning hit, which has ran on Comedy Central since 1997, follows four young elementary school boys too mature for their own good from a rural Colorado town that is frequently overrun with potentially cataclysmic phenomena of a crudely satirical nature. Of course, like any animated series, they all came through the experience with an important life lesson, unless Kenny does not survive.

However, for those who do not yet subscribe to HBO Max (or do, but have already watched more than their healthy amount of South Park), also available to stream are the many series and films alike that are inspired by, inspired from, or somehow related to the long-running satire. Fifteen quality programs come to mind.

Big Mouth (Netflix)

One can only imagine if South Park would be less controversial if the main characters were not children. The same could be considered for this Netflix original animated series co-created by Nick Kroll, who voices multiple characters along with John Mulaney, Jenny Slate, and more. However, it is the painfully honest and uproariously funny portrayal of the harsh times of adolescence that makes Big Mouth a remarkable and special work of art for its time. Malcolm In The Middle (Hulu)

For seven seasons, it seemed like no one on television was having a harsher time with adolescence than a young man named Malcolm (Frankie Muniz), the most intelligent member of his grossly dysfunctional family, made up of two overdramatic parents (Jane Kaczmarek and pre-Breaking Bad Bryan Cranston) and four (eventually five) unforgiving brothers. Said problematic siblings from the Emmy-winning Malcom in the Middle might bear the closest resemblance to how the kids from South Park would be depicted if adapted for live action. Bob’s Burgers (Hulu)

If the family from Malcolm in the Middle were animated and made their living from the food service industry, they might look like the Belchers, who own, operate, and live above a local eatery named after husband and father Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) whose wife and children are prone to shenanigans not as brutally offensive as South Park, but equally funny. Bob's Burgers is one of best animated, less-than-kid-friendly crowd pleasers on TV and, since its debut nearly a decade ago, it has and an upcoming feature film spin-off. Stream it on Hulu here.

Home Movies (HBO Max)

Before collaborating on Bob's Burgers, co-creator Loren Bouchard and star H. Jon Benjamin also worked together on this animated series that became an Adult Swim staple in the early 2000s about a young boy named Brendon Small (voiced by the co-creator of the same name) who spends time making amateur films with his friends. Home Movies has the look and feel of a typical Saturday morning cartoon, but with a unique comic edge that puts it within the same category of enjoyability as South Park. BASEketball (Starz)

A year after the debut of South Park, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone starred in their first feature-length, live action film as co-starring leads in which they play childhood friends who invent a sport that combines two of America's favorite (but vastly different) pastimes. You will not find much of the same clever cultural commentary that Parker and Stone are known best for, but you will find more than enough of the same boisterously crude humor in BASEketball, directed by one of the masterminds behind Airplane! Aqua Teen Hunger Force (HBO Max)

Speaking of humor virtually devoid of cultural commentary, this Adult Swim classic, which ran for 11 seasons over 15 years, does not just achieve a similar level of crudeness as South Park, but is undeniably one of the most bizarre animated creations in history, if the nonsensical title was not enough of a clue. Following the surreal adventures of a milkshake, a meatball, a fast food-style order of fries, and their middle-aged human neighbor, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and its 2007 feature-length spin-off, is so aggressively random and unusual that you may find yourself unable to look away from it. Rick And Morty (Hulu, HBO Max)

A knack for cultural commentary actually sparked the inception of this Adult Swim original, once a simple spoof of Back to the Future before Justin Roiland and Community mastermind Dan Harmon expanded it into a hilarious, exciting, and even thought-provoking tribute to science fiction as a whole. Ironically, Rick and Morty (named after the hard-drinking scientist and his anxious teenage grandson, both voiced by Roiland) has become one of the most worshipped examples of the genre in history, becoming just about as popular as South Park in only four seasons, probably for how well it works as a relatable family drama as well. Good Boys (HBO Max)

The kids on South Park are unique to their demographic for their mature and adept reactions to very non-childlike shenanigans they get themselves into. That is not so much the case for Jacob Tremblay, Keith L. Williams, and Brady Moon's trio of tweens from Good Boys, who become wrapped up in increasingly volatile situations way above their age group, in this very R-rated, but surprisingly endearing, 2019 comedy from co-producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Letterkenny (Hulu)

Before establishing a reputation for brutal satire of a universal appeal, South Park was initially conceived as a send-up of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's childhood in rural Colorado. Letterkenny has a similar origin, serving as a dramatized adaptation of star and creator Jared Keeso's secret Twitter account used to mock the cultural disparities he witnessed growing up in rural Canada. With mile-a-minute dialogue and characters that put an eccentric spin on mundanity, this Hulu exclusive series will change your perception America's northern neighbor forever. The Boondocks (HBO Max)

Let's switch over from a rural setting into something more suburban, particularly the neighborhood of Woodcrest, in which Chicago-born brothers Huey and Riley Freeman (both voiced by Oscar-winner Regina King) experience a bit of a culture clash with their WASPy peers after moving in with their grandfather (John Witherspoon). Adult Swim's series adaptation of Aaron McGruder's comic strip The Boondocks ran for four seasons between 2005 and 2014, but is more relevant now than ever for its unapologetically shocking and brilliant funny dissection of racial stereotypes that, like South Park, is all seen through the eyes of some very precocious youngsters. Family Guy (Hulu)

Also known for its unapologetically shocking humor is the breakout hit of co-creator Seth MacFarlane, who also voices three members of the Griffins, among other citizens of Quahog, Rhode Island, who seem to have a knack for finding obscure cultural references in any given situation. It should not come as a surprise to see Family Guy on a list of programs related to South Park, not just for the similar animated adult humor schtick that has also earned it more than two decades on air, but the highly lauded behind-the-scenes war the two series have engaged in for years. The Simpsons (Hulu, Disney+)

At least Family Guy has been able to set aside its differences (or lack thereof) with the show that neither it nor even South Park may have existed without. For more than THREE decades, the groundbreaking and hilariously satirical The Simpsons, created by Matt Groening, has been the most prestigious and highly influential animated sitcom on primetime television, inspiring a hit 2007 feature film, a Universal Studios theme park attraction, and an insatiable appetite for donuts. Team America: World Police (HBO Max)

For their cinematic follow-up to 1999's Academy Award-nominated South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, director Trey Parker and his co-writer Matt Stone took their signature talent for boldly non-subtle social commentary into a long overlooked territory of animation with the use of puppets. Marionettes fighting terrorists is a ridiculously unlikely concept that they brilliantly take advantage of for Team America: World Police, easily the greatest action-packed musical Hollywood satire featuring puppets making love ever made. John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch (Netflix)

Comedian John Mulaney gathered a diverse cast of precocious youngsters for his take on old school children's programming in the vein of Sesame Street or The Electric Company in this feature-length Netflix special filled with fun musical numbers, inventive sketches, and some surprising cameos. Of course, considering this is a list of programs recommended to South Park fans, it might be best to give John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch a watch on your own before deciding if the kids are ready for it. Peanuts (HBO Max)

There should not be any trouble deciding if this iconic program, based on the comic strip created by Charles Schultz, is suitable for family viewing, which makes its appearance on this list somewhat questionable. Well, other than an attempt to include something for the kids, Peanuts, like South Park, is a funny and often relatable heightened depiction of childhood: a concept that you could even argue was pioneered by the adventures of Charlie Brown and his friends.
