It may be Father’s Day weekend, but it looks like both Anne Hathaway and her husband Adam Shulman have something to celebrate, as the actress announced that she is pregnant with their third child. After the 43-year-old Academy Award winner took to social media for the big reveal, many of her celebrity friends including Mindy Kaling, Gigi Hadid and Lily Collins chimed in to congratulate her and her family on becoming a party of 5.

Anne Hathaway gave a glimpse at her growing baby bump in an adorable Instagram video set to the tune of Barbara Lewis’ 1965 hit “Baby I’m Yours,” which you can see below:

In the video, Anne Hathaway walks into the frame wearing a flowy white crop-top and matching maxi skirt with her arms crossed over her midriff. She smiles before dropping her arms to reveal her bump, then wraps her arms around it in a hug as she giggles and dashes away.

As far as pregnancy announcements go, this one wasn’t as bombastic as Keke Palmer’s viral SNL bump reveal, and the stage is admittedly smaller than Rihanna’s epic Super Bowl announcement, but Anne Hathaway did it in way that was emotional and classically simple, which fits her style just perfectly.

The former Fifth Harmony member nailed it with the mention of Genovia, as many fans were referencing the beloved character from The Princess Diaries. Playing Mia Thermopolis even provided Anne Hathaway with the opportunity to glean some parenting advice from the royal family.

We already knew this was a huge year for Anne Hathaway, who has a whopping five projects hitting the 2026 movie calendar. At some point in the near future, the talented and charming actress will take on the role of a Hollywood legend when she plays Audrey Hepburn in a new movie about the making of Breakfast at Tiffany's, one of the best rom-coms of all time.

This isn’t a remake of the timeless classic that gave us unforgettable characters like Holly Golightly and Paul Vajrka, and Cat, but instead a behind-the-scenes look into the making of what could be considered one of the most important movies of the 1960s. I am so excited to see this, but I just need to know how they’re going to handle one problematic character

I’m A Big Fan Of ‘Behind-The-Scenes’ Movies, And This Is No Different

Whether it’s something like Saturday Night’s chronicling of the first episode of Saturday Night Live or The Disaster Artist exploring the roots and fallout of The Room, I love me a good “behind-the-scenes” movie. That’s what has me so excited for Lily Collins upcoming film about Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Not a lot about the project was revealed when Deadline first reported on its development in February 2026, outside of the fact that Alena Smith is adapting Sam Wasson’s book, Fifth Avenue, 5 AM: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman, but that’s not dampening my excitement. With the movie being a cultural touchstone and Hepburn being one of the biggest and most influential stars of the 20th century, there’s so much I can’t wait to explore here.

From the early stages of its development (the movie was based on Truman Capote's novel of the same name) to finding its Holly Golightly to working with one of the best movie cats of all time, I’m coming up with dozens of scenes that the movie needs to include. However, despite all that excitement, I have one question…

How Are They Going To Handle Mickey Rooney’s Mr. Yunioshi?

Let me get this out of the way… I’m not trying to knock the late Mickey Rooney down a peg or two (he was a legendary entertainer with one of the best track records), but the Mr. Yunioshi character, Holly’s Japanese neighbor, has long been considered one of the most offensive racial stereotypes ever captured on film. I mean, just watch any of his scenes from the movie, and you’ll see what I mean by this. Even back when the film premiered in 1961, outlets like THR wrote that “the role is a caricature and will be offensive to many.”

From what I’ve gathered, the character was handled much differently in Capote’s original novel, so I’m interested to see how this whole dynamic is handled in this “making of” movie. At what point did the character become a buck-toothed racial stereotype, and what was the reaction to it like on set? These are questions I need answered.

This one is still very much in the early development stages, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens next and if the whole Mr. Yunioshi situation is addressed

As Season 5 of Emily in Paris premiered, I found myself asking some age-old questions, like: Will Emily be able to speak fluent French this season? And will Emily and Gabriel get together again? I also found myself wondering how long Emily had been in Paris. Well, the cast tried to answer that last question about the show's timeline, and all I have to say is…yikes.

The Cast Of Emily In Paris Did Not Come To A Consensus About How Long Emily Has Been In Paris

While Emily in Paris has been on since 2020 and we’ve gotten five seasons, it’s clear that the amount of time that’s passed in our reality is not how much time has passed in Emily’s. So, the show's actors and the creator pondered this question and tried to answer it during an interview with ET.

Some of them actually tried to work out the timeline and make a solid guess with real numbers. Here’s what the Emily in Paris cast came up with:

• Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie): I’d say like two or three years. Maybe three, ‘cause we’ve had summers. No, maybe two. Two.
• William Abadie (Antoine): It’s so funny, you should mention that, because I had an argument with a colleague of mine, I was like ‘It’s been four years!’ She was like, ‘No, it’s been four months!’
• Ashley Park (Mindy): For me, I think between the first two seasons and then the next two, it was only like a couple days. And I think that that was over the course of beginning of spring into end of summer. And then we had our winter. I think it’s only been a year.

So, it’s been anywhere from four months to four years based on the range above. That’s…not helpful. I have to say, though, I appreciate the thought and effort, and they provided a wide enough range that I'd assume the right amount of time is in there somewhere.

However, maybe we shouldn’t be thinking about time, I mean, it is just a construct, right? Well, that’s what the show’s star and creator want you to think, as they explained:

• Lily Collins (Emily): It is a timeless loop. You know what, it’s a beautiful, aspirational, stunning show that I think time is just – it’s just a construct. Who cares?
• Darren Star (creator): All I can say is time is elastic. Time is elastic and very subjective.
• Arnaud Binard (Laurent): The vision of Darren [Star] is such a, some sort of a fantasy, you know? So, yeah, it’s timeless.

You know, this is the philosophy I like to believe in when it comes to Emily in Paris. If a season were to premiere on the 2026 TV schedule, the time it takes place during would not worry me. I’d just want to vibe in Paris (or Greece) with Emily and co. and live my best fashionable life.

Here’s the thing, though, while the cast and crew didn’t have a definitive and scientific answer, and I've chosen to accept that time is irrelevant here, one guy actually did attempt to figure out how long Emily’s been in Paris.

Someone On TikTok Really Tried To Figure Out How Long Emily Has Been In Pairs

In a 21-minute TikTok, samageiger earnestly tried to figure out “how long Emily has actually been in Paris.” He went through the show’s timeline up to Season 4 (Season 5 hadn’t premiered yet) and diagramed it, as you can see below:

The conclusion he ultimately came to was unclear. However, he did provide some guesses, saying:

He explained that Emily in Paris mostly exists in “perpetual warmth,” however, Christmas really threw a wrench in things and “forces us to reckon with the reality of temporal chronology.” So, what he said above might not be right. To that point, he tried to come to a conclusion again and said that at “face value” with all the “spring resets” and “weirdness,” Emily has been there for maybe ten to 11 months.

Ultimately, like the cast, he couldn’t come up with a solid answer and said:

Well, no matter who you ask, there’s no clear conclusion here. However, I think that’s fine and plays into the fun of Emily in Paris, which you can stream in full with a Netflix subscription right now.

As Lily Collins said, it’s a “timeless loop,” and time is just a construct, so maybe we shouldn’t be thinking so hard about this.

Well, when Season 5 of Emily in Paris ended, I found myself asking, “So, Emily in Greece?” Therefore, I had to ask Lily Collins and Ashley Park that question. Their answers were delightful, too, as they threw out some ideas for what could happen if the titular character goes from Paris to Greece.

Once I finished watching the episodes of Emily in Paris that dropped on the 2025 TV schedule, I couldn’t stop thinking about the postcard Gabriel sent the titular character that asked her to meet him in Greece. So, when I interviewed Lily Collins and Ashley Park, I asked them if she was headed there next. In response, the Emily actress said during our interview for CinemaBlend:

In the same interview, Collins spoke to me about Gabriel and Emily’s relationship and how they’re in a new place together. They respect each other, they’re living their own lives, and it might be too soon to reignite that romance.

So, maybe this trip to Greece can be something else instead, and not focus on the love triangle Emily and Gabriel seem to always be in. On that note, Ashley Park proposed that Greece could be where Mindy’s bachelorette party happens, considering she’s engaged to Nico now. She said:

You know what, I love this idea! While I do think Emily and Gabriel are endgame, I don’t think they’re ready to be romantic yet. So, maybe they can have a fun carefree trip in Greece with their pals, and evolve their friendship further. Plus, who wouldn’t love a nice meal from the chef? And not just any chef, a prestigious and acclaimed chef.

I'll admit, a bachelorette party could get weird if Mindy's feelings for Alfie come up. However, on the whole, I'm here for her and Emily taking a girls' trip to Greece to celebrate Mindy's big life update (even if it's complicated).

Honestly, I love this little fantasy, and I want to see these gals live like they’re in Mamma Mia, especially considering how excited Park and Collins were about the potential to go to Greece, as you can see in the clip below:

Listen, I hope they got to Greece too! I loved seeing Emily in Rome this season, and while Paris will always be the show’s home, it’s fun to watch her bop around Europe with Mindy and co.

However, before we go to Greece, Emily in Paris has to be renewed for a sixth season. While we wait for that, you can stream the first five installments of this fashionable and fun show on Netflix.

Season 5 of Emily in Paris saw Lily Collins’ titular character make some very mature decisions that led to her deciding to stay in Paris. However, in the final seconds of the season that dropped on the 2025 TV schedule, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) sent her a postcard that feels like it could change everything. So, I asked the actress who plays Emily about this postcard and what it could say about her future with the chef.

Now, to recap, at the end of Season 5, Emily decides to break up with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) so they can both live full lives in their respective homes. It’s a mature decision, and it seems to be the best choice she could make. Then, in the final scene of the season, her long-time love interest, Gabriel, sends her a postcard that asks if she could meet him in Greece, as you can see below.

So, that led me to wonder if Emily would actually respond to the postcard and go to Greece. During an interview with CinemaBlend, I asked Lily Collins and Ashley Park (who plays Mindy) about it too, and they said:

• Lily Collins: Emily, this time in at the end of this season, is actually really good in her love life with herself.
• Ashley Park: Yeah, Mindy’s the messy one.

Mindy is the messy one this season, with her love triangle involving Nico (Paul Forman) and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount). Meanwhile, Emily is really assured in herself and her love life. So, when it comes to Gabriel, they’re actually in a particularly good place when he sends that postcard, as Collins said:

Now, considering Gabriel and Emily’s tumultuous past, this response makes perfect sense. For once, they’re in a great place during Season 5. But could this postcard change things?

Continuing to speak about how her character might react to that note, Lily Collins told me that she doesn’t think it’ll lead to anything romantic. In fact, she thinks it’s “too soon,” explaining:

I think she’s right. While I did find myself rooting for Emily and Gabriel to try again as Season 5 aired on Netflix’s 2025 schedule, I also love where they’re at individually. Also, I agree that Emily has moved on. Maybe feelings can be rekindled; however, for now, it seems that the chef is the one doing the pining, not her.

To that point, Ashley Park and Collins spoke about how this calls back to Season 4’s ending while pointing out how the tables have turned between Emily and Gabriel:

• Ashley Park: It’s kind of the end of last season, too. She’s like off on a Vespa in Rome, and Gabriel’s like ‘Mindy, where are her coordinates?’
• Lily Collins: Yeah, kind of nice to see the shift from Season 1 and 2 with Emily and Gabriel, and now it's like she's the one that's pretty solid, you know?

Now, if Emily in Paris gets renewed for Season 6, I’d love to see how she reacts to this postcard. Will she say no? Will she go? If she goes, will a romance be rekindled, or will they decide to just stay friends? These are all questions I need answers to. However, Collins’ response to it seems to imply that it might be too soon for anything romantic to happen between them.

Overall, I do think it’s safe to say that no matter what happens, Emily and Gabriel are not the pair they were at the start of this show, and they have evolved and matured so much individually. So, hopefully, whatever happens next will be good for both of them and lead to healthy choices regarding the future of their relationship.

Saying goodbye to animals is always so hard, especially around the holidays. Unfortunately for Jennifer Garner and her family, they had to do just that with their beloved dog, Birdie. And when it happens, there’s usually a great handful of people to join in on remembering the beloved pet, and Birdie is no exception. The outpouring of love for Garner and her family’s pup has plenty of stars paying tribute and sending their love, including the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Lily Collins.

The 13 Going on 30 star shared on an Instagram post that her beautiful, sweet pooch and well-known cooking contributor, started showing signs of not feeling well last Thursday. The family then discovered the worst, that Birdie was indeed sick and had little time left. Garner said that she’s heard dogs tend to wait until everyone is home to show signs of illness, and thankfully, everyone, seemingly, was able to say goodbye together. Birdie’s tribute is sweet, and you will probably shed at least a tear if you’re anything like me. Garner shared some great and personal videos and pictures of her dog being read to, the two cuddling, and Birdie wearing a pair of glasses (somehow a classic picture of any dog owner), amongst others.

It’s really heartwarming to see the support for Garner’s family while they mourn such a monumental loss. I’m glad they have some time together to remember and honor their Birdie all in the same place. If it were me, I would maybe watch some good dog movies as a helpful way to grieve, and eventually, even think about doing my homework and watching some movies that have dogs I’d like to adopt! But for now, it would probably be closer to a marathon of tearjerkers.

I hope that Garner and fam take all the time they need and that they find solace in remembering Birdie together. It’s always so hard to say goodbye no matter your age, but it’s nice that she has plenty of people out there to pay tribute to Birdie and support her family in the process.

Emily in Paris is one of the best shows on Netflix to binge-watch, and a big reason as to why are the characters. Within the Emily in Paris cast, there are two people specifically that we all know and love - Gabriel and Emily - and their will they/won't they status as a couple has always been a topic of conversation. Now, with the duo being an especially big part of Season 4, Part 1, star Lily Collins shared her thoughts on why, in a sea of men in Paris, Emily always goes back to Gabriel.

Those who have watched Emily in Paris know that Emily wasn't with Gabriel last season. In fact, she dated Alfie (played by Lucien Laviscount). However, they broke things off in the first episode of Season 4. Despite this, Emily swears during "Masquerade" that she wants to find a new love interest – however, by the end of the episode, she goes home with Gabriel.

Prior to the first part coming out, I had the chance to speak with the actress behind the titular character, Lily Collins, regarding the couple and why Emily always goes back to Gabriel. She explained during our interview for CinemaBlend that Emily finds him "mysterious," but he was also the first person she really felt a "spark" with when she first arrived in France. That makes their relationship even more special, as she said:

That first spark feeling is a strong one, and I totally get why Emily would feel drawn to Gabriel. Being in a new city and meeting new people is hard, and those first relationships you make are vital and impactful.

Collins continued, saying that another reason why Emily decided to really be in a relationship with Gabriel is that her character isn't the type to just let things go. She would have "FOMO" (fear of missing out) if she didn't at least try to make things work with the chef:

Emily in Paris has certainly had its fair share of romances throughout its three complete seasons. I personally liked Alfie a lot more for Emily, because he was so charming and handsome – the actor even reportedly landed in the running for James Bond.

But, considering what Collins said, I genuinely understand Emily and Gabriel and their deep connection a lot more now. Honestly, I'm rooting for them – even after the craziness that was Emily in Paris Season 3, which made me want to pull my hair out.

So, here’s hoping these two somehow work it out in Season 4 amidst all the drama.

The film adaptation of Dark Horse Comics’ Virus is uncompromisingly bad, no matter if you’re familiar with the book or not. But the most entertaining thing to come out of it was the fact that star Jamie Lee Curtis has taken every chance to roast this picture with the most cutting of remarks. It’s truly one of the best cases of entertainers who have trashed their own movies.

Michael Caine - Jaws: The Revenge

This is an example of using class and wit to politely stuff a movie like Jaws: The Revenge into the trash bin of life. Actor Michael Caine’s remarks about never seeing the film, but loving its payday, is something that always hits like the best line at a cocktail party celebrating the movies we love to loathe.

Emily Blunt - Gulliver’s Travels

History almost gave us an Iron Man 2 with Emily Blunt playing the role of Black Widow. And then contractual obligations forced Ms. Blunt to pass, in favor of starring in the Jack Black vehicle Gulliver’s Travels. So yeah, maybe it’s best not to mention this one to this star of A Quiet Place, no matter how much you think she might laugh.

Dennis Quaid - Jaws 3-D

All legendary actors have the gigs that make them, and the ones that they took so early in their career that they’d rather not think about them. Dennis Quaid’s role in Jaws 3-D more than likely falls into the latter bucket, as it’s one of the two Jaws sequels that failed to make the cut with even the franchise’s most devoted fans.

Viola Davis - The Help

Academy Award winner Viola Davis scored a nomination for her role in Tate Taylor’s film adaptation of The Help. Despite her performance’s excellence, Davis still maintains her opinion of regretting having taken part in the movie’s production, and the resulting product. 

Bill Murray - Garfield

No cinematic icon is immune to trickery, especially a trickster like Bill Murray. With his infamous Garfield casting story seeing the comedy legend mistake the movie’s writer for one of the Coen Bros, you can kind of see why he’d use his Zombieland cameo in 2009 to poke fun at the film being his only life’s regret.

Mariah Carey - Glitter

Glitter wasn’t enough of a disaster to kill Mariah Carey’s acting career, and to her credit, she went on to deliver some amazing performances in films like Lee Daniels’ Precious. But whoo-boy, does this musical drama still sting to think about from time to time? 

Elijah Wood - North

While there’s an interesting selection of beloved films Roger Ebert absolutely hated, North is one of the flops that the legendary film critic rightfully roasted. Though it definitely wasn’t Elijah Wood’s fault, it’s probably best if you don’t approach him about this one without some sort of care. 

Jennifer Lopez - Gigli

As a legendary turkey in the world of infamously bad movies, even Gigli’s director Martin Brest has pointed thoughts about that epic fail. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s colossal dud of a rom-com has more than earned its place on the bad side of history, and one could bet that even its mere mention would inspire the most withering side eye from J.Lo herself. 

George Clooney - Batman & Robin

If there’s a constant in George Clooney’s career as an entertainer, it’s his regret over Batman and Robin. Stepping in after Val Kilmer bolted on Joel Schumacher’s second Gotham-based tentpole, you can bet the ER heartthrob wishes he could use a time machine to go back and prevent this experience from ever happening. 

Renee Zellweger - Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation

Out of the Oscar-winning pair of Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey, it’s a safe bet that Ms. Zellweger would be the one who’d want to keep Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation off the table of discussion. Then again, she might be a bit more relaxed on the subject since so much time has passed. 

Robert Downey Jr. - The Shaggy Dog

Early on in his mid-Aughts comeback, Robert Downey Jr. diversified his acting portfolio with everything from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang to Good Night, and Good Luck. And mixed in with the lot was his role as the antagonist in Tim Allen’s remake of The Shaggy Dog. Downey would probably talk about the movie if asked, but one has to wonder what he’d say? 

Emma Watson - The Circle

For someone like Emma Watson, an actor who chooses their projects with a level of mindfulness and message in mind, The Circle must have seemed like a good choice. But the eventual public reaction to the film may have caused the Harry Potter vet to think twice even before approaching source material with names as storied as author Dave Eggers and director James Ponsoldt attached. 

Eddie Murphy - The Adventures of Pluto Nash

The Adventures of Pluto Naash is a habitual punching bag when folks choose to talk about the most infamous disasters in movie history. And thanks to that distinction, even the very open Eddie Murphy wouldn’t be mistaken for keeping this sci-fi/comedy flameout away from the conversation. 

Lucy Liu - Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever

Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever is an infamous movie without even taking into account that it somehow managed to snag the star power of Lucy Liu into its clutches. Admittedly, so few people remember this one that it doesn’t feel like she’d have to be on guard for random fans mentioning its existence. 

Matt Damon - The Great Wall

You might think that the “white savior” worries of Matt Damon’s character in The Great Wall are the reason he might not want to talk about this massive box office dud. But the fact of the matter is, he’d probably politely decline any discussion on the matter because it was a thundering failure that didn’t really win him any new fans.

Jennifer Lawrence - Dark Phoenix

How much did Jennifer Lawrence distance herself from the X-Men movies by time she made Dark Phoenix? Well, not only was her time in makeup severely reduced/scaled back in quality, but she died quite early in the final X-Men prequel from the Fox days. Maybe that's part of why the two-part structure was abandoned prior to its release.

That confidence is probably what got her cast in Warren Beatty’s misguided rom-com Rules Don’t Apply, and to be fair, she and co-star Alden Ehrenreich are two of the only bright spots in this mostly forgettable throwback. 

Eddie Redmayne - Jupiter Ascending

If anyone is ready to admit Eddie Redmayne’s Jupiter Ascending performance is bad, it’s the man himself. While some might be inclined to give him more credit for his work in the Wachowski’s far-flung space opera, Redmayne’s criticisms of his role do come with some important caveats.

Playing a talent agent who knows a good client when he sees one, Jennifer Hudson is one of the people he rightfully tries to fast-track to fame. By no means does that proper judgment mean that this movie is something she, or most viewers, would even remember.

Hugh Jackman - Pan

Some flops crash and burn with very little trace of the wreckage. Others, like the Hugh Jackman starring Peter Pan adaptation Pan, collapse under ill-fated ambitions that don’t end up adding up in the end. But at least we got Jackman’s Captain Hook singing “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” in a totally bonkers musical number.

Pedro Pascal - Wonder Woman 1984

Pedro Pascal is almost universally recognized as one of, if not the best part of Wonder Woman 1984. That still feels like a far cry from something The Mandalorian star would even want to discuss, as its infamy is something that still echoes pretty strongly so close to its initial execution.

Brendan Fraser is a lovable actor who knows how, and when, to get goofy. It’s just a shame that a project like Monkeybone never understood how to use those skills to its advantage, saddling The Mummy star with a movie that he more than likely hasn’t thought about for some time. 

Scarlett Johansson - Ghost In The Shell

There are some who might defend the live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson. Considering how much the movie has been rejected by even the source anime’s fans, and the kerfluffle that came from her casting as Major Mira Killian being seen as a bit of whitewashing, this project is probably one that the Marvel veteran would reasonably remain silent on.

Keanu Reeves - 47 Ronin

It’s not Keanu Reeves’ fault that 47 Ronin was a stinker for the ages. Although if one were to mention the movie to him in passing, he’d probably just smile and laugh, charmingly admitting defeat in that particular case of cinematic disaster. 

Will Smith - Gemini Man

What’s worse than a movie failing with one Will Smith in the starring role? Apparently, a technologically advanced picture like Gemini Man, which saw Smith playing against a CGI de-aged younger version of himself. Finally, a movie that rivals Wild Wild West for infamy on Mr. Smith’s resume.

Jack Nicholson has been comfortably retired ever since making 2010’s How Do You Know? One has to wonder if he’d be equally as comfortable if he were to be prompted to remember the experience and the fallout that came from its release into theaters.

Lily Collins may not be returning to our TV screens for the next season of Emily In Paris until later this summer, but she certainly brought the high fashion this week for her latest movie! The actress is one of the stars of Ti West’s MaXXXine, and she walked the Hollywood red carpet for the horror movie in a barely-there top made completely of hardware.

Among upcoming horror movies headed our way this summer is MaXXXine, which continues the Mia Goth-led bloodsoaked trilogy that has been told across three different time periods. Check out Lily Collins’ premiere look below styled by Rob Zangardi:

Lily Collins wore a long light blue blazer and a matching draped skirt of the same color from Schiaparelli’s spring 2024 collection. The blazer has unique details in that it can be closed via a gold lock on the left side. The actress’ top was completely made of gold jewelry with rhinestone eyes and multi-colored jewels across her chest. She finished off the look with gold stiletto heels and debuted a brand new short haircut after rocking long hair for the past year.

Collins shared her inspiration for the look on her Instagram, which is very fitting for the MaXXXine premiere. She wore the fit in reference to Isabella Rossellini’s Lisle von Rhuman from the 1992 horror comedy, Death Becomes Her. Here’s the fit she was inspired by:

In the campy horror film also starring Bruce Willis, Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn, Rossellini played a socialite who claims to have a potion that offers eternal youth and beauty. When it comes to Lily Collins’ MaXXXine character, she’ll be playing an actress named Molly Bennett, who we know will be in the fictional movie The Puritan II.

MaXXXine is the third movie in Ti West’s trilogy that starts with X, a '70s-set horror film about the cast and crew of a porn movie who make their flick at an elderly couple’s property in rural Texas. Goth played dual roles between a porn star hopeful named Maxine Minx and the elderly woman, Pearl. Pearl then told the homicidal elderly woman’s origin story. MaXXXine takes place in the '80s after the events of X, where Maxine is pursuing her porn career further, this time in Hollywood.

The Monday night premiere also had Mia Goth stunning in a black dress with leather details, Halsey wearing a shiny gold number and Kevin Bacon in a mauve suit among other killer looks. Since its premiere, the third movie from West in this series has earned rave reviews. CinemaBlend’s own Eric Eisenberg gave the movie 3.5 out of 5 stars in his MaXXXine review, calling it “a love letter to the grand history of Hollywood” along with “a hefty dose of gnarly” horror moments.

Other celebrities have famous parents out there, but these are just some you might not realize were related to someone famous. And now, I need to figure out who else might be related to someone I never knew about—time to dive into some Hollywood history. 

It’s become a time-honored tradition for Emily in Paris fans to point our stuff that doesn’t make sense about the Netflix series. Now that Season 3 has dropped, there has been no exception. One major plot point that doesn’t really seem to add up is that Emily’s boss Madeline has been pregnant for three seasons. Let’s talk this out. 

We’re about to get into spoiler territory, so if you aren’t fully caught up on Emily in Paris yet, you have been forewarned. 

Fans Have Some Questions About The Timeline Of Madeline's Pregnancy

If you can recall all the way back to Season 1, Emily was sent to Paris only after her boss Madeline could not make the trip. At the time her boss (Kate Walsh) found out she was pregnant thanks to an encounter with some perfume. Emily goes to the City of Lights instead to work with Savoir, a French marketing company her U.S.-based company has just acquired. This in itself is a bit of a plot hole, as Emily only goes to France because Madeline backs out; however, then Madeline ultimately comes to France while still pregnant.

But I digress. Back to the timeline issue. Madeline popped up early-ish in her pregnancy in Season 1, and by Season 2 is heavily pregnant. Then in Season 3, she’s still pregnant. Season 3 has her coming to France – still fully pregnant – where she has the baby. 

Theoretically, this should be no big deal. Let’s say Madeline found out she was pregnant, couldn’t travel in Season 1 and then if Season 2 picked up sometime shortly after the events in Season 1, and Season 3 picked up shortly after the events in Season 2, the timeline of her lengthy pregnancy could have made sense. If only. Unfortunately, there is some seasonal stuff that just does not seemingly check out and Netflix subscribers are noticing.

The weather is the issue. More time seems to have passed on the series than would make sense for a nine-month pregnancy. Season 1 has Emily in France in the late summer/fall, but then it gets really hot in Season 2, so there’s a presumption those episodes are set in the summertime. If Season 2 had been set, say, six months later, as the tweet above hedges, the episodes would have been shot with a wintry setting. Apparently, it’s always summertime in Paris.

Part of the issue here may be that Emily in Paris was set to film in the first part of 2019, but then filming didn’t get off of the ground until August of 2019, so perhaps the planned stories ended up having to be shifted a bit from their earliest iterations. Season 2 did, in fact, film during the summer of 2021 while filming for Season 3 began this past June. 

In real time, Madeline’s been “pregnant” for more than three years.

The Joke Emily In Paris Makes About Madeline’s Pregnancy 

So, back to the fact that Madeline shows up in France at the end of Season 2. She does this because it’s “now or never,” which makes no sense because she literally avoided taking the job in France thanks to her pregnancy. Maybe she’s just really attached to her obstetrician, but if that's the case, the birth did not go as planned. By Season 3, she is finally close to having the baby.

Fans got a bit of a payday when the latest season finally hit the Netflix schedule. Madeline’s water finally breaks at the Eiffel Tower restaurant. (Her water breaks on Sylvie’s shoes, naturally.)  She’s rushed to the hospital and has a baby boy. The nurses at the hospital joke it’s the “biggest baby” they’ve delivered in quite some time. Of course it is. She’s been pregnant for years, y’all. 

The good news is that Kate Walsh has had a sense of humor about wearing the baby bump for so long as part of the Emily in Paris cast. She told Netflix earlier this year the look lends itself to physical comedy, which she enjoys very much. She shared with Tudum,

So, in a sense it will be a little bit sad to see Madeline without her large baby bump. But who knows? Emily in Paris has already been renewed for Season 4, so there's always the chance the show could just lean right in and Madeline could get pregnant again. 

Season 3 of Emily In Paris is almost here, as it's one of the many shows that'll be streaming on Netflix for December 2022. Darren Star's romantic dramedy series has amassed a nice following over the past years, so one can understand the hype. However, there is one aspect of the series that fans have been seeking clarification on. Sure, there are more than a few elements in Emily In Paris that don't make sense, but perhaps the biggest is how Emily is able to afford all of those stylish clothes. Well, series star Lily Collins finally weighed in on the lingering mystery.

While at the premiere for the third season, Lily Collins spoke to Women's Wear Daily and shared her thoughts on how her character is able to afford a wide wardrobe with a variety of clothes. The explanation she provides is relatively simple and reasonable:

A theoretical rental scenario would make for an interesting storyline, but it would definitely have to flow with the series. However, the character's wide range of clothing is part of what makes the show fun, so prepares some may actually prefer the show keep up that suspension of belief.

As fans continue to wonder about Emily’s wardrobe, they'll also want to prepare themselves for the new looks she'll have this year. Lily Collins says that after three seasons, Emily will adopt more French style sensibilities, as she finds more inspiration in her life, from her friends to her colleagues. Of course, she'll still be the same Emily we all know and love, though Collins mentioned that there's a greater sense of "sophistication" to her attire in the new episodes.

Lily Collins has been open before about Emily's "annoying" qualities, though she does find her quirks endearing for the most part. But with any show, there needs to be character growth. So it’s not surprising that she’s truly starting to evolve.It's exciting whenever one has the chance to see a character grow over time. One would think that Darren Star and his team want the titular protagonist to become more in tune with the culture of the country should the series continue. And they'll hopefully, proceed with a level of respect, as the show has received some criticism for how the show portrays the French. 

All of that aside though, it'll be exciting to see what lies ahead in Season 3. I personally can't wait to see just surprises are in store. Based on Lily Collins' quotes, chances are we won't get a firm answer regarding the source of Emily's seemingly endless wardrobe during this new season. We'll just have to see if the writers choose to address it at some point in the future.

Emily in Paris star Lily Collins is the latest nepo baby to defend her success, following viral comments by the likes of Lily-Rose Depp and Zoë Kravitz. 

Nepotism isn’t a new concept to Hollywood, and a number of established stars have had to deal with talks about their family lately, such as Maya Hawke and The Boys’ Jack Quaid. Now there’s the term “nepo baby” with Lily-Rose Depp going viral for her comments about the subject. Actress Lily Collins is the daughter of pop star Phil Collins, and she recently spoke to Vogue France about her experience trying to become established without relying on her father’s name. As she shared:

Indeed, Lily Collins’ parentage might be new information to fans out there. She’s already had quite a successful acting career. In addition to her ongoing role in Emily in Paris, she’s also had roles in projects like Mank, Okja, and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. Clearly things are on the rise, although smart money says there were some struggles for the 33 year-old actress along the way.

Lily Collins’ comments about nepotism come in her conversations with Vogue France, who featured her largely due to her role as the title character in Emily in Paris. While speaking about her life and career, Collins eventually opened up about the ways her famous father has and hasn’t helped her career. As she further explained,

As previously mentioned, this comes as there’s a ton of conversation online about nepo babies. Lily-Rose Depp recently landed herself in hot water with Italian model Vittoria Ceretti over conversations she made about nepotism to Elle. The comments that started this feud read as:

Lily-Rose Depp was careful to clarify that she doesn’t really equate herself as an actress/model to a doctor, but seemingly feels her training and career speak for themselves. In response, model Vittoria Ceretti wrote a response on Instagram Story, revealing the financial and personal struggles that came with trying to be a model without the support system of a rich and famous parent. 

Zoë Kravitz has had a wildly successful career, but she also admitted to having insecurities related to her famous parents. She was recently featured on GQ, where she defended the decision for famous kids to go into acting. As she put it,

Some points were made. And indeed, Zoë Kravitz has established herself aside from her famous relatives, thanks to performances in projects like Big Little Lies, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Batman. 

We’ll just have to wait and see how the careers of actors like Lily Collins and Lily-Rose Depp continue to shape out, but they’ve both got exciting projects coming up. In the meantime, check out the 2023 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience. But sorry naysayers, there will be plenty of “nepo babies” front and center.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our society and culture, locked door thrillers and dramas have proven to be an interesting outlet for filmmakers. It’s logical, both psychologically and practically. While following social distancing protocols and being health conscious, people around the world have experienced movie-worthy drama in their own lives while in lockdown, and as a result, the ability for any of us to relate to characters’ circumstances increases. It’s also just a hell of a lot easier to make a film in general when you are only using one location and a limited number of principal characters.

When film critics and historians eventually create an entire field of study around the mid-pandemic era of moviemaking, I can imagine Charlie McDowell’s Windfall being held up as a perfect model case – not only because of the limitations that inspired its creation and execution, but also because of its poignant and sharp examination of the wealth gap in our society (an issue which has only been magnified since the global spread of COVID-19 began).

Windfall was initially conceptualized by Charlie McDowell, Jason Segel, Justin Lader and Andrew Kevin Walker out of the desire to remain creative during the pandemic, and with the filmmakers knowing that they could have access to shoot at a specific house on an orange grove in Ojai, California. What they hatched was the idea for a peaceful home invasion that quickly spirals into a tense hostage situation, with four unnamed, complex characters providing absorbing perspectives as they all try and work toward a peaceful conclusion to the drama.

As we first enter the aforementioned Ojai property, its lavish amenities are being enjoyed by Nobody (Jason Segel). He sits in the sun drinking a glass of orange juice, eats fruit right off the branch in the orchard, and while rifling through drawers finds a fair amount of cash to fill his pockets. Of course, it’s quite apparent that he is not supposed to be there – and panic sets in when the actual owners, CEO (Jesse Plemons) and Wife (Lily Collins), arrive for a spur-of-the-moment getaway weekend.

Nobody at first tries to slink out the door without being noticed, but everything goes sideways when Wife spots him. At first, the home invader’s plan is to keep CEO and Wife confined in an on-property steam room and escape with a head start – confident that he has left no trace of himself at the house and that they won’t be able to remember him – but that idea goes out the window when he discovers that there is a security camera right above where he parked his car.

Pivoting, Nobody understands that he can’t destroy the security footage, and decides that his only out is to take enough money from CEO that he can disappear and live his life on the run. Of course, that quantity of cash can’t be summoned instantly, and they learn that the money won’t be delivered until the following night. With Nobody keeping hold of a gun that he finds in a drawer, the trio spends a tense 36 hours together, with patience wearing thin and tensions slowly rising.

Windfall's compelling characters keep you hooked as the clock ticks down.

A reflection of the characters’ namelessness, few details are provided about Nobody, Wife, and CEO as people beyond their present circumstance, with Windfall keeping a tight lid on exposition. They don’t present as bland abstracts, however, as the movie has a way of providing just enough information about them so that you can see the situation through their specific points of view.

Nobody is obviously a criminal, but he also has a compelling eat-the-rich hunger with which it’s exceptionally easy to empathize. CEO is a victim of a theft, but he is also an egotistical, classist jerk with no recognition of his privilege and advantages. Between these respective id and superego-driven personalities is Wife, who didn’t grow up with money, but knew the life-changing choice she was making when she agreed to marry the one of the wealthiest men in the world.

Their individual perceptions of the world instantly drive divisions between them, and sly deceptions stirred into the mix see loyalties shift and become questionable. It’s a slow burn with an explosive finish.

There's a slowdown in the middle of Windfall, but it finds a (no pun intended) second wind.

Pulling off a slow burn with a story as intimate and confined as Windfall’s is tricky business, but the film is mostly successful. There is a drag in the second act when the characters are ironically killing time until the money arrives, but the movie is reenergized with the introduction of the fourth character in this tale: a talented and enterprising Gardner (Omar Leyva) who tries to grasp at opportunity when he finds himself in the position of having face time with CEO. This new player winds up having a fascinating impact on the socio/economic themes of the plot – though I unfortunately can’t dig too far into details without brushing against key spoilers.

This also happens to be one of those magical thrillers packing an ending that makes one reconsider everything that precedes it, and instantly inspires rewatch curiosity.

Jesse Plemons, Jason Segel, and Lily Collins all deliver terrific, dynamic performances.

Like any talk-heavy, theatre-like drama, performances are vital, and all three stars here are doing tremendous work. Jesse Plemons, who just keeps proving himself one of the most impressive talents of his generation, is the standout, putting on a slick and sinister turn that is comical while never making CEO likable (a thin line to walk). Jason Segel, meanwhile, succeeds in the sinister, using his natural charisma to counterbalance his skuzzy appearance and behavior. Between the two men, Lily Collins’ work is more subtle, but also surgical and intriguing.

While film as a medium allows creatives to change the rules of time and reality, I will forever be fascinated by a movie that can retain my attention for 90 minutes with a handful of characters and one enclosed space – and Windfall gives my constant itch a through scratching. It’s a stylish, well-crafted Hitchcockian thriller, a smart modern commentary, and a great actor showcase.

Did you know that actress Lily Collins is the daughter of British rock star Phil Collins? It’s OK if you didn’t know. In fact, it just proves how well she has managed to build a successful career without relying on own her father’s fame (even if she did make her acting debut in Disney’s Tarzan, for which the former Genesis frontman wrote the Oscar-winning song “You’ll Be In My Heart”).

I am actually surprised that the lead of the Emily in Paris cast (who also has an executive producer’s credit on the Netflix hit) has not starred in any superhero movies yet, considering how she has covered nearly every other genre you could think of. Actually, reviewing some of her biggest roles helped inspire a few ideas of whom I think she would be the ideal choice to play in any new Marvel movies if and when that opportunity arises. One Marvel character I have in mind has a pretty unique, tangential connection to Lily Collins’ first-ever comic book movie role.

Jocasta

Early on in her acting career, Lily Collins starred in 2011's Priest, based on Min-Woo Hyung’s comic about a disgraced man of the clergy trying to rescue his niece from bloodthirsty vampires in a war-torn dystopia. Collins played the niece, Lucy Pace, and the titular priest was played by Paul Bettany, who would be promoted from Tony Stark’s digital assistant, JARVIS, to the Avengers' Vision four years later. In the comics, the heroic synthezoid technically does have a niece named Luna Maximoff, but I think Collins would be a better fit to pay his “sister.”

Jocasta was originally created by Ultron to be his bride by downloading Janet Van Dyne’s digital consciousness into a mechanical vessel before she gained control, was rescued by the Avengers, and the residual traces of her mind became the reborn android’s “soul.” Clearly, if Kevin Feige and co. ever planned on bringing the robotic hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would take a great deal of reinventing, similarly to how Ulton’s origin was rewritten in Avengers: Age of Ultron as Stark and Bruce Banner’s creation instead of Hank Pym's. However, I think it would be worth it, especially for the chance to see Collins reunite with Bettany… whenever “White Vision” returns, that is.

Namora

Another one of Lily Collins’ earliest acting credits was Abduction - an action thriller from 2011 starring Taylor Lautner as a teenager embroiled in a government conspiracy while trying to uncover his true identity. Collins plays, Karen - the girl next door whom Lautner’s character, Nathan, has a crush on and ends up joining him on his dangerous adventure. I also have an idea for how these two could reunite in the MCU which is also based on a previous hypothetical casting idea I once had.

Not long ago, I imagined what Marvel characters the Twilight cast could play and assigned Lautner to play Namor the Sub-Mariner, partially due to his iconic performance as another aquatic, young superhero in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Well, I believe that if and when the character finally makes his long-awaited cinematic debut, so should his equally powerful cousin, Namora, whom Collins has the perfect qualities to make for a wonderful, strong, leading portrayal. All she needs is some blonde hair dye.

Power Princess

Lily Collins has also been linked to the Twilight movies cast the time she played Snow White in Mirror Mirror in the same year that Kristen Stewart also played the fairy tale character in Snow White and the Huntsman. Actually, believe it or not, that was only the first time she played a princess, followed by Dawn in the English-language cut of the Spanish-language animated film A Wizard’s Tale in 2018. Well, I would hope that her next royal portrayal could be a character who is just a little more badass than those two, and I think Marvel Comics has the perfect fit.

So, it is no secret Marvel has many of their own doppelgängers of DC characters (and vice versa) and one who bears a few striking similarities to Diana “Wonder Woman” Prince is Zarda Shelton. She fights crime under the moniker Power Princess, in reference to her being a member of the royal family in the perfect land of Utopia Island from Earth-712 in the Marvel Multiverse. Collins has had her fair share of fairy tale wonderment and a few action films, so why not combine them into one game-changing performance in the Marvel movies?

Elsa Bloodstone 

On second thought, I have another idea for a potentially even more badass Marvel character whom Lily Collins could draw from a previous experience to play. In 2013, she was cast in the feature-length adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s young adult fantasy novel The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones in the lead role of Clary Fray, who discovers that she is a descendent of a long line of people chosen to protect humanity from demons. Outside of the prophesied destiny bit, Elsa Bloodstone can certainly relate.

The young, British woman (something Collins also can relate to as Surrey, England, native) is a descendent of one of the most notorious monster hunters in the Marvel Universe - her father, Ulysses Bloodstone, would pass down the family business to her and her brother, Cullen. Elsa has also teamed up with the Merc with a Mouth before, so perhaps we could see Collins join the cast of the upcoming third Deadpool movie, or even debut in her own, old fashioned monster movie. Either way, I hope the folks at Marvel Studios keep her in mind for this role.

Husk

You know what? I actually have another Marvel character in mind who has a few things in common with Lily Collins’ role in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. In addition to demon hunting, Clary Fray is also an Nephilim (a human with angel-like qualities), much like her love interest, Jace Herondale. Outside of also sharing angelic characteristics with her significant other, Paige Guthrie is similar.

Also known as Husk for her mutant ability to shed her skin for various reasons and with various outcomes, this X-Men member has been romantically linked with Warren Worthington III, who is otherwise known as Angel (or Archangel) for his heavenly set of wings. Yet, aside from that, this is very complex and unique Marvel character whom I believe Collins could really achieve something profound with if cast.

Of course, having also starred in projects as dark as Netflix’s Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and Inheritance with Simon Pegg in 2020, maybe Lily Collins is ready for something in the DC movies to be her debut superhero role.

A name that has popped up pretty regularly in my life as a movie watcher over the last decade is Lily Collins. Whether that be through her funny romantic comedies, intense dramas or TV shows, I’ve always found myself watching many of her projects and admiring her acting talent.

So today, we’re going to take a look at some of Lily Collins best movies and TV shows, and how you can watch them, from the start of her career to some of her most recent additions to her repertoire. 

The Blind Side (HBO Max)

If you want an inspirational sports story, The Blind Side is the movie for you. Starring the superbly talented Sandra Bullock, this sports film tells the story of Michael Oher, a real-life NFL player who was homeless, until the kind hearts of a family - mainly its matriarch - took him in when no one else would and would create one of the most heartwarming tales in all of football. 

Lily Collins actually made her film debut in this role as Collins, Michael’s adoptive sister in the movie, and her interactions with Michael are honestly some of the best, as it shows that family can come from anywhere. And truly, The Blind Side is one of those movies that you just need to watch if you want to feel good. Sandra Bullock won the Oscar for her role and it's well-deserved, but the whole cast really blew it out of the park.

Stuck In Love (Amazon Prime)

Lily Collins has become a star of romantic comedies with some of her roles, and Stuck in Love is one of them. This film explores the complications of what the term ‘love’ can do in a family, whether it breaks them up, turns people off entirely, or brings them together. This is all talked about with the main family of the film, the Borgens. 

Lily Collins plays Sam in Stuck in Love, and I love her in this movie. Something about her character’s ideas of love, preferring one night stands over actual relationships so she can stop the heartbreak before it happens, is so complicated yet so real. I also love the contrast that her character has with Nat Wolff’s character, Rusty (who is her brother in the movie), who absolutely is infatuated with love. It’s such an interesting and fun movie to watch and I think you would enjoy it too.

Les Miserables (BBC)

While the 2013 movie musical Les Miserables stole the Academy Awards, it wasn’t long before the classic novel was adapted again, this time into a BBC miniseries. Les Miserables follows many characters during the French Revolution, but the main role is Jean Valjean, a man who wishes to do better in life and become a better version of himself after being locked up in prison for several years. 

Lily Collins portrays Fantine, the poor young woman who had a child out of wedlock and is forced to enter into prostitution and sell her hair and teeth to keep her little girl alive. Let me tell you - if you thought that Anne Hathaway was amazing as Fantine, you have to check out Lily Collins’ version of her. It’s heart wrenching to see this young woman so full of life have her world completely turned upside down, turning into someone you hardly even recognize, and that is due to Lily Collins’ great acting skills. She knocks it out of the park with this one.

To The Bone (Netflix)

This Netflix original film turned heads for many reasons. To the Bone, starring Lily Collins, is a compelling drama that demonstrates a common mental illness that many people go through - anorexia. The main character shows her struggles and her battle, as she tries to get better despite all the odds. 

Out of many of Collins’  performances on this list, To the Bone is one of my favorites, hands down. The sheer amount of dedication she put into this role is enough to win me over, but then you see her act her ass off as this young woman, creating a compelling performance that brings tears to my eyes.

Okja (Netflix)

You want to know what happens when a pig with superpowers is exported out of South Korea? That’s what Okja is all about. Watch a little girl try and stop the United States from mishandling her specialized pig.

That premise sounds absolutely bonkers but hear me out. Okja has a large ensemble cast with plenty of talent, including the same director as Parasite, Bong Joon-ho, but the story is so much fun and you’d never expect it to be but truly, I don’t think I’ve had this much fun watching a movie at home in a while. Lily Collins plays Red, one of the animal-rights activists in the movie, and I’ve always loved how she and the others’ chemistry just flows so well. 

The whole cast is super talented as well, combining both famous South Korean actors and American ones. Truly, this film is underrated and you should watch it soon.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile (Netflix)

Another Netflix original film on here, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is about one of the most famous serial killers of all time, Ted Bundy. This disturbing story shows just how Ted Bundy used his charm and his wits to lure his victims, and how nobody - not even the woman he truly loved - could ever see what he was doing. 

I love Lily Collins in this movie. Playing Liz Kendall, Ted Bundy’s romantic partner, was truly a test of her acting talent, as her scenes - especially near the end - alongside Zac Efron are spectacular and show just how much range she has. Also, let’s talk about this - Zac Efron was also such a perfect choice for Ted Bundy. I mean, who else could pull off that charm mixed in with that craziness? Such great casting on this one.

Mank (Netflix)

Directed by David Fincher, Mank is our last Netflix original movie on this list, and it’s about the origin story of one of the greatest movies of all time - Citizen Kane. The titular character, the real-life screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz struggled for years to write the film, but this movie shows his ups and downs, and his struggles to somehow create the famous drama. 

If we’re going by the most critically acclaimed roles of Lily Collins’ career, Mank would be in first place. In the Academy-Award nominated film, the Mank cast was filled with so much talent, and Lily Collins just added onto that with her portrayal of Mank’s secretary, showing just how much a person can influence a writer and what they do. As someone who has always had a passion for screenwriting, Mank is a brilliant experience from beginning to end.

Tolkien (Amazon Rental)

If you’re a fan of the Lord of the Rings series, be sure to rent Tolkien on your next Amazon night. This biographical film, starring Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins, tells the origin story of the famous fantasy writer, J.R.R. Tolkien, and how he somehow came up with the wonderful world of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, documenting his child years into adulthood. 

I grew up loving fantasy movies and fantasy series’, so watching this film about one of my all-time favorite authors is definitely such a fun time. Lily Collins as Edith Bratt, the actual real-life wife of Tolkien, was perfect casting, and her chemistry with Hoult is amazing. I’ve always adored their love story, but they really bring it to life in this film, not only showing how long they knew each other but how much Tolkien truly loved his wife and how much inspiration she gave him. I could re-watch this film over and over.

Love, Rosie (Paramount+)

Another fun romantic comedy on this list, Love, Rosie tells the classic story of friends becoming lovers. Both Rosie and Alex have been friends for several years, but somehow, even though it’s obvious they have clear crushes on each other, they never seem to get together. However, when life starts to change, they start to change with it. 

Love, Rosie isn’t the most revolutionary romantic comedy. It’s the same formula you would expect from a film like this. But what really saves it for me is Lily Collins’ performance, and her chemistry that she has with her co-star, Sam Claflin. Those two are so cute as best friends, and even their younger counterparts create such a fun, sweet story that anyone can enjoy.

Rules Don’t Apply (Amazon Rental)

Howard Hughes is one of the most famous film directors and producers probably ever, producing some classic films you might know - like Scarface, Hell’s Angels, Vendetta and many, many others from the 1930s to the 1950s. Rules Don’t Apply follows this famous man, and the tight grip he would have on the people in his company, including, a young actress and her love she has for her driver. 

While this movie didn’t do super well at the box office, I still think Rules Don’t Apply is a great film and Lily Collins is awesome as Marla, the main actress that Howard Hughes is keeping an eye on throughout the film, showing her desperation to try and keep the love of her life, well, in her life. I also love Warren Beatty as Howard Hughes - he really captures the powerful aura the producer had back then and how much weight he had in Hollywood.

Mirror Mirror (Amazon Rental)

If you ever wanted a different take on a classic fairytale, check out Mirror Mirror. This film, starring Lily Collins and Julia Roberts, tells the story of Snow White, but not like how you imagined her to be. When her father dies and her evil stepmother takes over, Snow White takes it upon herself to get the help from some friends so she can defeat her stepmother and take back the throne for herself. 

Let me tell you - there are a couple of people I think are perfect casting for live-action princesses. I think that Lily Collins was the best choice for Snow White for so many reasons. She captures that bubbliness that we know the character has mixed in with a surprising amount of strength and resilience that she has to take on her stepmother despite everything being against her, and I gotta say, Lily Collins kills it.

Emily In Paris (Netflix)

It’s why you’re here, isn’t it? Emily in Paris is a Netflix show that follows the titular character when she is whisked away to Paris for a business opportunity, as she tries to adapt to not only the new people around her but a whole new culture and lifestyle. 

Emily in Paris has faced some controversy over its time on Netflix, but I’ll be honest, it’s one of my guilty pleasures, and that’s mainly because of Lily Collins in the lead role. Somehow, she makes Emily feel a lot more relatable rather than someone who is completely clueless to the world of Paris as she tries to fit in, and her fashion is to die for. I wish I could pull off her outfits like she does. And the Emily in Paris cast is full of talent.

With Emily in Paris Season 2 out now, it’s the perfect time to look back on Collins’ best roles so far and see which out of these picks is your favorite. Or maybe re-watch Emily in Paris again while making some croissants, I’m not sure. Either way, you’ll have a fun time.  

Netflix hit Emily In Paris is gearing up to deliver the second season to fans just in time for the holidays. The romantic dramedy follows Lily Collins the self-awarely annoying titular character who lands a dream job in Paris as a marketing executive, and handles all of the problems and perks that come with such a change (both the believable ones and the not-so-believable kind). With Season 2 premiering soon, could fans look forward to a third season? The star has some thoughts. 

Even though the first season of Emily In Paris was met with some criticism, it didn’t stop Netflix from renewing it for a second season. Lily Collins talked to Glamour ahead of Season 2 and she gave her thoughts about attempts to be slightly more diverse in upcoming episodes, as well as thoughts on a potential third outing alongside the rest of the cast:

Emily In Paris was Netflix’s most popular comedy series of 2020, with 58 million households watching some or all of the episodes. It’s not so surprising that the streamer renewed it so quickly, and it seems like Season 2 would have to tank pretty hard for Netflix to back away from order more episodes. Collins spoke more about the efforts to improve the show through representation, saying:

It's obviously hard to tell whether or not Netflix will renew the series, considering the latest episodes still haven't debuted. Season 1 sparked some major backlash from viewers due to some French-focused stereotypes. It will be interesting to see what will happen in Season 2 and if Emily In Paris will fix the stereotyping issues along with others. It's still possible that Netflix will renew the series for a third season even if the problems persist, assuming enough people are watching those problems, but the streaming execs likely won’t be making the announcement until after Season 2 numbers are tallied.

Fingers crossed that Emily In Paris gets renewed for a third season and it doesn’t fall victim to Netflix’s list of short-lived series that were cancelled after a season or two. Season 2 will debut on Wednesday, December 22, so be sure to make it a Christmas week binge to help those chances.

Netflix has a bounty of amazing shows for anyone to watch, such as the period drama, Bridgerton, or the upcoming The Witcher Season 2. However, there’s one show that’s gotten popular recently - whether for the right or wrong reasons - and that’s Emily in Paris.

While I feel that everyone knows who Lily Collins is, you might not know where some of the other cast members hail from. They might have been in the 2021 Netflix TV shows, or in some of the best shows on Netflix. During this time while we prepare for Emily in Paris Season 2, let’s take a look at where you might have seen the Emily in Paris cast before, including Lily Collins and Lucas Bravo.

Lily Collins (Emily Cooper)

As the titular character in Emily in Paris, Emily is a happy-go-lucky young woman somewhere in her twenties - exactly how old is she? - who travels to Paris for a work opportunity, and she's played by the wonderful Lily Collins, daughter of Phil Collins. Collins herself, prior to her role in Emily in Paris, has done plenty in Hollywood, and made her name known.

Collins’ breakthrough was way back in 2009 when The Blind Side released, and ever since then, she’s been in several different types of films. This includes the sci-fi film, Priest, the psychological film, Abduction, the fantasy film, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, and several romantic comedies, such as The English Teacher, Love, Rosie and more.

Lily Collins has also been in several films that have shown off her talent, such as Rules Don’t Apply, To The Bone, and the Netflix original film, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. She was also in the biographical film, Tolkien in 2019, as well as the Netflix original film, Mank.

While she didn’t do much in the TV realm prior to her role on Emily in Paris - since most of her work is focused in film - she was in the BBC miniseries of Les Miserables, where she portrayed Fantine. Hopefully with her as the lead in this popular Netflix series, we’ll get to see her a lot more on the small screen soon.

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateux)

I think everyone sort of had a love-hate relationship with Sylvie on Emily in Paris, mainly because while she did treat Emily a bit poorly (some of it warranted because who goes to a French office and doesn’t speak French?), she also was a boss who got stuff done and was good at her job, almost like Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada. Philippine Leroy-Baeulieu is responsible for this amazing portrayal of Sylvie.

Prior to her role in Emily in Paris, Leroy-Beaulieu primarily focused on her roles in several French films, such as Trois couples en quete d’orages or Jeanne et le loup. She also has appeared in several French TV shows, with main roles in Agatha Koltes as the lead, and Call My Agent!, and Mirage.

Ashley Park (Mindy Chen)

Mindy Chen is one of Emily’s first friends when she arrives in Paris in Emily in Paris, a young nanny with a voice that shines above the rest, drawing ears for all to hear. Ashley Park plays Mindy Chen, and she's a woman who is full of many talents.

Before her role on Emily in Paris, Mindy Chen was big in the theater world, having roles in several Broadway productions. This includes, but is not limited, to Mamma Mia!, The King and I, Sunday in the Park with George, Grand Horizons, and her biggest role, Mean Girls: The Musical. In 2021, she also played a part in Ratatouille, the benefit concert that happened at the beginning of the year.

In TV, Mindy Chen has also appeared in a couple of other shows as well, including a role in the comedy series, Nightcap, as well as the drama series, Tales of the City. This year, she’s also had a recurring role in the Peacock original series, Girls5eva, so hopefully we’ll be able to see more of her soon.

Lucas Bravo (Gabriel)

Gabriel certainly looks like the dream guy that every girl would want in Emily in Paris. He is a chef, handsome, and seems to be a nice guy - except he is taken, unfortunately, spewing on mountains worth of drama for everyone to enjoy from their couches. Lucas Bravo portrays Gabriel in the show, and has been active in the film and TV industry for some time.

Like some of his co-stars, Bravo has mainly stuck to French film and TV. He’s appeared in French films such as Smart Ass, and has popped up in a number of French TV series, including a guest role in Plus belle la vie, and a recurring role in Sous le soleil de Saint-Tropez. Coming up, he will be making an appearance in the drama film, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, so hopefully we’ll be able to see a little more of Gabriel soon enough.

Samuel Arnold (Julien)

I have to say, Julien is one of my favorite characters in Emily in Paris. Not only was he sassy and didn’t hold back his opinion in Season 1, but he is a good co-worker to Emily and tries to help her out as best he could - even if she sometimes annoys him, but all good friendships are like that. Samuel Arnold plays Julien in Emily in Paris.

Prior to his role in Emily in Paris, Samuel Arnold had a role in National Theater Live: Antony & Cleopatra, as well as a part in the TV movie, Tuer un homme. He also had a guest role in the French TV series, Platane, but Emily in Paris seems to be one of his first bigger roles. He also had a part in the Pandemica TV miniseries, where he voiced a character, but hopefully with Emily in Paris Season 2 coming out soon, we will get to see Julien a whole lot more - and that means more Samuel Arnold.

Bruno Gouery (Luc)

Another one of Emily’s co-workers in Emily in Paris, Luc and Julien are top-tier comedy, and make this show freaking hilarious despite its dramatic moments. Bruno Gouery plays Luc in Emily in Paris, and has done plenty in French TV and film, much like the rest of his co-stars.

Gouery has made appearances in several French films, but has also been in many TV shows as well. He had a role in the French TV series, Doc Martin, as well as a role in President Alphonse and Super Jimmy. Recently, Bruno Gouery was also in a film titled Rose Island on Netflix. With Season 2 of Emily in Paris hopefully coming soon, we will get to see more hijinks between Luc and Julien soon.

Camille Razat (Camille)

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I wanted to hate Camille so badly. Emily and Gabriel have great chemistry, but when you find out that Gabriel has a girlfriend - Camille - and she’s literally the nicest human on earth, you just can’t hate her. Plus, she also becomes friends with Emily, which doesn’t help Emily’s feelings for Gabriel in the slightest.

Camille is played by Camille Razat, who has been active in the French TV and film scene for a little bit of time. She’s appeared in a couple of French films, namely Rock’n Roll, Paris Pigalle, and more, but has had some roles in French TV as well. She had a main role in the eight-part French miniseries, The Disappearance, and had a guest role in Captain Marleau.

Coming up, she will be in two more French films, titled Les Choses humaines and Mastemah, as well as Emily in Paris Season 2, so hopefully soon we’ll get to see her in TV or film again.

William Abadie (Antoine Lambert)

Antoine Lambert is almost the same as Sylvie in Emily in Paris, with the same work ethic and a success record to prove it - but he is a bit of a player, so we can’t like him entirely. William Abadie portrays Antoine Lambert, and since his character was promoted to a series regular in Season 2, I have a feeling we’re going to see a lot more of him soon.

Abadie has been active in film and TV for some time, with plenty of roles. He’s had parts in Pink Panther, Resident Evil: Extinction, My Sassy Girl, The Human Contract and more. Abadie has also had several guest stars in plenty of TV shows, including Sex and the City (created by Emily in Paris creator Darren Star), CSI: NY, Entourage, Gossip Girl, 90210 and more. William Abadie also had a recurring role in the drama series, Homeland.

Kate Walsh (Madeline Wheeler)

While she didn't make that many appearances in the show in Season 1, Madeline Wheeler is responsible for sending Emily off to Paris in Emily in Paris, so she needs to be included with how much her one decision impacted the lives of others. Kate Walsh portrays Emily’s American boss, Madeline, in Emily in Paris, and has done plenty in Hollywood.

Walsh has appeared in several films, such as Under the Tuscan Sun, Bewitched, the coming of age film, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Girls Trip and more. Walsh has also had recurring roles on TV shows such as Fargo, The Fugitive, The Drew Carey Show, and others. One of her biggest roles was playing Dr. Addison Montgomery in the medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy for several years, as well as her role in Private Practice.

After that, she went on to have roles in the NBC sitcom, Bad Judge, played Olivia Baker in the Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why, and plays The Handler on The Umbrella Academy, so there’s truly no stopping this amazing actress. I can’t wait to see what she does next - that is until she pops up in Season 2 of Emily in Paris.

With so many stars, both international and national, I’m eager to see what they’re going to do next, both in Emily in Paris Season 2 and in their other projects. What are you excited about the most when the next season premieres?

Filmmaker Fede Álvarez made his first big burst onto the horror scene in 2013 with his well-received Evil Dead remake, and he gained many more fans with the release of 2016's Don't Breathe. Now, as fans wait for the release of that film's sequel (which Álvarez co-wrote), every horror fan out there needs to binge the hell out of his new streaming TV show Calls, which is definitely worth the price of a month's Apple TV+ subscription and then some. It's definitely not the kind of project that anyone could possibly be expecting, so read on to find out exactly why Calls is such a must-watch series for anyone who loves horror, science fiction, and/or psychological thrillers.

Calls Is Unlike Any Other Horror On TV

It should take potential viewers exactly 0.5 seconds to grasp that Apple TV+'s Calls is on a completely different wavelength than most horror projects. The anthologized concept involves viewers being privy to a series of phone calls (and other forms of verbal communication) while the world is in the midst of an unexpected and horrifying apocalyptic event, but nothing of the zombie or pandemic variety. It's not a live-action series, though, so you're not seeing physical actors on their phones, but only hearing them. It's also not quite an animated series, with a visual style that's more abstract, lo-fi graphics rather than literal interpretations of people and places. It's essentially like non-randomized Winamp visualizations that are coded to freak you the fuck out, and they all range from 13-21 minutes, never outlasting their respective stays.

Though it is based on the French series of the same name created by Timothée Hochet, Fede Álvarez's Calls is definitely its own beast of a tale. And when I had a chance to talk to the genre-centric director ahead of the show's debut on Apple TV+, he explained how he got involved with such a unique idea for a horror TV show. In his words:

While I won't give away any spoilers about what audiences will experience, since things quickly take some very wild turns in the first episode, suffice to say Fede Álvarez and his creative team definitely came up with some refreshing and mind-boggling new ways to approach short-storytelling, which we'll get into more below.

Calls' Unique Visual And Audio Approach Is Unexpectedly Disturbing

As effective as horror audiobooks can be, as well as spooky podcasts, Calls ramps up the atmospheric aural sensations with a digital visual palette that successfully evokes dread and unease with shapes, lines, and letters in a wide variety of ways. Think about all the ways a phone call can be disturbing, from crossed lines to strange voices to technical glitches – they're all covered here. And all without confusion over who is speaking, since Calls makes the speaker identification part of its disquieting visual motif.

Below, Fede Álvarez talks about how the challenge that he and his creative team took on in approaching the minimalistic visual design, and he also jokes about the non-intuitive way giving the first Calls presentation went before Apple's execs.

To that end, I would easily put Calls in the Top 3 trippiest TV shows of all time, but obviously in a way that's entirely separate from the trippiness of cult faves like Twin Peaks, Mighty Boosh or Channel Zero. The majority of Calls imagery is almost meticulously hallucinogenic in the coolest of ways, although the audio itself will likely send one down a bad trip road.

Calls' A+ Cast Includes Pedro Pascal, Karen Gillan And More Big Stars

The fact that Calls is an anthology series, combined with the lack of a live-action production, allowed Fede Àlvarez to pull together a pretty stunning list of well-known talents, and it's indeed worth going over the majority of them here just to drive home how perfecto a group it is. The pitch-perfect slow-burning premiere episode is almost entirely performed by Succession's Nicholas Braun, Emily in Paris' Lily Collins, and the MCU's Karen Gillan. The next episode continues the MCU-ness with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who co-stars with Space Force's Ben Schwartz, the Child's Play franchise's Jennifer Tilly, and The Devil All the Time's Riley Keough.

The episode that breaks most from the horror genre stars Halloween's Judy Greer, The Morning Show's Mark Duplass and The Mandalorian's Pedro Pascal. And look at that, Pascal's Mandalorian co-star Rosario Dawson is also in an episode. For time's sake, let's just run through some of the other stars post-haste, shall we? We've got The Voice's Nick Jonas, Yellowstone's Danny Huston, Parks and Recreation's Aubrey Plaza, The Act's Joey King, Hollywood's Laura Harrier, Don't Breathe's Stephen Lang, IT's Jaeden Martell, The Righteous Gemstones' Edi Patterson, Community's Danny Pudi, SpongeBob SquarePants' Clancy Brown and more. It's a smorgasbord of awesome actors, and nobody phones it in, so to speak.

So clearly, I'm already a big fan of Apple TV+'s Calls, and I'm hoping everyone else out there will be convinced that it's a one-of-a-kind trip into the depths of space, time, and weirdness, and that the trip is one worth taking immediately. David Fincher’s Mank features a number of actors playing icons of the 20th century – including not just Gary Oldman as Herman Mankiewicz, but also Arliss Howard as studio founder Louis B. Mayer, Charles Dance as publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst, Tom Burke as the legendary Orson Welles, Toby Leonard Moore as the brilliant David O. Selznick, and Tom Pelphrey as the great Joseph Mankiewicz. One person you almost surely haven’t heard of, however, is Rita Alexander, who was the titular’s writer’s secretary and played by Lily Collins. This is primarily because there is very little substantial information available the actual woman – which presented a certain challenge for the actor as she was getting into the role.

Taking dictation during the writing of Citizen Kane while Herman Mankiewicz is laid up following a car accident, Rita Alexander is a key character in the film, but I learned while speaking with Mank’s Lily Collins during the movie’s virtual press day last month that she didn’t have a great deal to work with when it came to efforts portraying the real woman with perfect accuracy. She still wanted to provide her performance with authenticity, however, which drove her research in other directions:

From a logistical standpoint, Herman Mankiewicz probably isn’t able to actually write Citizen Kane without the support he gets from the diligent secretary. As Lily Collins describes, Rita’s position is primarily to help Mank finish the script in accordance with the tight deadline he has been given, and she does that by transcribing his thoughts and organizing his notes, but she also has to work to save the writer from himself, as he is a hyper self-destructive alcoholic.

So while Rita Alexander may not appear in Mank exactly how she was in real life, Lily Collins did her best to capture her spirit and her contribution. It also very much helps that the actor is what might be described as an “outside-in” performer, which is to say that she uses external elements like costuming to help her fully encompass a role. Collins explained,

It’s a cocktail, but at the end of the day it works, and like all of her co-stars in Mank Lily Collins delivers a wonderful performance. This fall/winter, Lily Collins has a significant presence on Netflix. In October audiences were introduced to her as the titular character in the new hit show Emily In Paris, and in just a couple weeks fans will be able to see her opposite Gary Oldman in David Fincher’s Mank. What you probably don’t know, however, is that doing both projects made her schedule rather crazy in the second half of last year, as they had some significant overlap.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Lily Collins last week during the virtual junket for Mank, and having noticed the production dates for the movie during my preparation I asked about how the schedule lined up with her work on Emily In Paris – and the short version of the answer I got was, “Not well.” As she explained, the effort to be a part of both productions really ran her ragged, as she was frequently making international flights back and forth between the United States and France. Remarking on the contrast between the film and the show, Collins said,

It generally takes about 11 hours to fly from Paris to Los Angeles, which is a hell of a long time in the air and a serious time zone change, and while most people like to decompress a bit after a trip like that, Lily Collins wasn’t given that luxury. Because production on Emily In Paris essentially halted when she wasn’t there, turnarounds had to be quick, and evidently she was helped by evidently having an active imagination.

Clearly it would be terrible if Lily Collins went through all that and then totally regretted the effort, but fortunately that wasn’t case. Instead, she is grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the creative minds at the head of each production, saying.

In Mank, which is David Fincher’s first feature since Gone Girl, Lily Collins plays Rita Alexander, who is employed as Herman Mankiewicz’s secretary while he recovers from a car accident and develops the script for what eventually becomes the cinema classic Citizen Kane. All of her scenes take place in 1940 and were shot on location in Victorville, California (where the actual events took place), and obviously that presented a very different on-set experience for the actor in contrast to Emily In Paris, which sees her playing an American millennial hired by a French marketing firm.

This contrast was actually something that Lily Collins was grateful for, though, as it better allowed her to compartmentalize the characters and approach them individually. She explained,

The first season of Emily In Paris (second season coming soon) is now streaming on Netflix, and we are now less than two weeks away from the online debut of Mank, which is premiering on the service December 4. As one of Netflix's latest high-profile dramedies, the Lily Collins-starring Emily in Paris has enjoyed a pretty solid October, gaining tons of viewers as it jumped around the streaming service's daily Top 10 TV shows ranking. Granted, the Darren Star-created series has not been without its woes to cope with, given that many French viewers have had bones to pick with Emily in Paris for leaning too heavily on overused stereotypes and viewing France through rose-colored TV glasses. While there's arguably some merit to some of those particular criticisms going against it, the show's French star Lucas Bravo says one of those clichés is right on the money.

In Emily in Paris, Lily Collins' titular American who gets a marketing job in France and marvels at the world around her while meeting new people such as Lucas Bravo's Gabriel. Bravo previously spoke out in semi-agreement with some of the critiques the show has earned, and while recently speaking with People, Bravo humorously pointed out one very specific stereotype that he considers the biggest, even if it's totally based in reality.In his words:

To many people, mixing a gym workout with cigarette smoke probably sounds like antithetical behavior in every way possible. But to some people out there, the only way to follow up any big burst of physical energy is to settle the nerves with a big burst of nicotine. That's the kind of authentic stereotypical behavior that can be seen on display in Emily in Paris. Lucas Black continued joking, saying:

One can only wonder how many American stereotypes would come up if a French TV creator crafted a show in which a Parisian female traveled across the pond to join a U.S. marketing firm. Perhaps it would involve characters recreationally smoking marijuana (only in certain states) after going to the gym. Or maybe just skipping the gym altogether and shoveling deep-dish pizza in their faces while watching Netflix shows. Which is basically just Le Beavis & Le Butt-Head, I guess.

Creator Darren Star addressed the complaints and criticisms about all the French stereotypes, but not in any kind of apologetic way. Rather, Star purposefully wanted to glamorize Paris so that the show could experience the city through Emily's eyes. And those eyes just happened to see a lot of snooty sales clerks and people smoking outside the gym, as well as the Eiffel Tower a lot.

Between the backlash from certain viewers and Lily Collins doing some bad math in recent weeks, Darren Star’s new Netflix series Emily in Paris got off to an inauspicious start and not a tres chic one. Still, a lot of people are watching, which leaves us asking just a few short days into Emily in Paris’ Season 1 run: How old is Emily during her stay in Paris? And how did this mystery weave such a tangled web?

How Old Emily In Paris Seems To Be, According To The Writers

If you’ve watched Netflix’s Emily in Paris, the show has dropped some hints about Emily’s age, though has never been explicit about her exact birth date. First and foremost, we know Emily Cooper is at least a few years removed from college as she mentions in an early episode she has a masters degree in marketing (or communications, if only the powers that be could decide).

Emily Cooper is from Chicago, so if she started college at 18 like most Midwesterners, she would have graduated college at 22. And even if she was on the East/West college schedule of attendance between the ages of 17-21, she also has a Masters in marketing, which would have likely taken her two years to complete following her initial degree.

After the completion of her marketing degree, which would have come around the age of 23 or 24, she went to work for the Gilbert Group in Chicago, where she worked long enough that when her boss Madeleine Wheeler could not longer take a position in Paris, she was offered the gig. Even if she had only been working for for the Gilbert Group for a year (and that’s an “if” given how chummy she is with Madeleine), Emily would be around 25 at that point, a point which a lot of fans apparently took for granted until series lead Lily Collins started talking about her character's age…

What Lily Collins Said To Confuse People About Her Age

Earlier this month in an interview with Vogue, Lily Collins did what seemed to be some bad math and told the outlet that she sees Emily Cooper as woman who is 22-ish, noting,

Lily Collins is an actress who did attend college at the University of Southern California, though she told Shondaland in 2019 she hadn’t graduated yet. Still, she should seemingly have a gauge for how college and masters degrees work. So, even if she's not up on corporate advancement, she'd sort of be able to figure out Emily Cooper's age. Given her actual answer, one would hope it was not taking into consideration some of the facts Emily in Paris' writers had attributed to Emily, including that Masters Degree. Basically, though, if Collins had forgotten about that bit and doesn't have a ton of experience with office advancement, it's easy to see how she could have imagined Emily Cooper as younger in her mind.

The good news is, the actress has been a good sport about her gaffe. Over the weekend she took to her Instagram Stories to poke a little fun at her mistake via social media. This is something that Emily Cooper herself would probably approve of.

How Old Is Lily Collins Actually?

Outside of starring in Emily in Paris, Lily Collins is actually 31 years of age and has been in the acting business for over a decade now. While I’d certainly declare her a youthful 31, there’s a big difference between being 31 and 22. That’s practically a 10-year gap and while actors and actresses often play younger, I'm not sure I'd believe Lily Collins was playing a 22-year-old even if her original math had held up. In fact, I think most people watching thought Emily Cooper was in her mid-to-late 20s while watching Netflix’s Emily in Paris.

That would have given Emily Cooper time to finish college in the U.S. at 21 or 22 and also time to finish graduate school at 23 or 24. Plus, it would have given her the time to actually gain some corporate experience at 24 or 25, or maybe even until she was 26 or 27, before she was shipped off to Paris to make waves as the new American in the French business world. This is a Netflix rom-com, but it's a show about loving the work you do, having a knack for it, and figuring out who you are as a person as well. It makes sense it would be about a 20-something, but there's just been a lot of drama behind determining Emily's exact age.

If she’s 27, though, that whole subplot – and spoilers – where she accidentally hooks up with Camille’s brother who recently graduated high school (she thinks he's college-aged) gets a little odder the older Emily Cooper is, however. Plus, I don't know exactly how old her other love interest Gabriel is playing, but in real life actor Lucas Bravo is 32 and similarly aged to Lily Collins. So, if we really look at the storylines too closely, it's all very uncomfortable anyway. Perhaps it’s simply better to do as the Netflix series does and think of Emily as a 20-something and move along.

Darren Star, the popular producer behind such gems as Beverly Hills, 90210 and Younger, has been one of the TV creators hopping to Netflix recently. This week, his newest series Emily in Paris starring Lily Collins premiered and it has already been crushing out on the streamer’s Top 10 list. Given its popularity, a lot of people are asking whether or not Emily in Paris has been greenlighted for Season 2 already.

Honestly, if you take Darren Star’s statement at face value, the showrunner and show creator at least seems confident in his latest series and already has ideas for Season 2. He talked about a sequel season with O Magazine this week as part of the promotion for the new Netflix series. Without revealing too many spoilers – which is great for those of use who may not have binged the whole series yet – he had this to say about Season 2:

So, that seems to indicate more is coming, right? Not so fast. Netflix can be a fickle company by nature and has more recently cancelled some shows that have seemingly had avid fanbases. (Not to mention the show the streamer cancelled that had already been picked up for another season, complicating matters further.) Fascinatingly, Emily in Paris was initially supposed to be Paramount Network original, like Yellowstone, but that network recently shifted strategies around original fare and will be honing in more on movies than TV programs moving forward.

So, Will Emily In Paris Get Renewed For Season 2?

Netflix ultimately picked the show up, but in fact, Emily in Paris has not been renewed for Season 2 yet. It’s worth noting that people are clearly champing at the bit to find out whether or not the rom-com does get a second season. It should help that people are talking about the show online and that it’s been popular on the subscription streamer since its release, ranking #2 in the Top 10 list at the time of this writing. There are even a slew of TikTok videos devoted to the show.

If you haven’t watched Emily in Paris, its delightful premise has Lily Collins playing a Midwestern marketer who shifts her life to Paris. Darren Star shows are generally fun watches, but this one gets a special boost simply because it’s a show coming out right now about a location most of us can’t even travel to currently thanks to it being 2020.

Ten episodes of Emily in Paris were produced for Season 1 of the hit rom-com series. If you’ve already plowed through those and haven’t watched Darren Star’s other series Younger yet, I highly suggest that as your next watch. It's a program that has also shuffled around from TV Land to Paramount Network, but it can also be streamed on Hulu.

When playing a real life figure like J.R.R. Tolkien, or his wife Edith Bratt, it takes a lot of research to make sure you’re doing your job well. It’s something that both Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins faced when preparing to star in director Dome Karukoski’s Tolkien, a biopic on the life experiences that lead the titular author to start writing the Middle-Earth franchise.

But when trying into character, both Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins found that there was a fair degree of difficulty and liberation when it came to portraying the couple that would eventually fall in love and get married during the events shown in Tolkien. And a lot of those difficulties came from the fact that the younger incarnations that they were inhabiting aren’t exactly captured in a lot of media that they can base their portrayals off of.

When CinemaBlend spoke with both Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins during the press day for Tolkien, the question of the hardest challenges when honing their characters came up. And in the case of Hoult, the actor had the following feedback to provide when it came to his own research efforts:

The lack of footage for both J.R.R. Tolkien and Edith Bratt’s younger selves is something that certain actors might see as stifling for their own creative process. After all, you don’t want to go into a film like Tolkien and totally botch the characterization of the man who wrote The Lord of the Rings, or his beloved wife for that matter.

But as folks who see the movie will find, both actors are up to the task of portraying very humanized versions of Tolkien and Bratt, as they tell the story of their meeting, and eventually their falling in love. Without proper characters, this wouldn’t work in a fictitious narrative, but in the case of Tolkien, you have to believe that the love between Ronald and Edith is so strong, he’d create epic romances and ravishing Elvish beauties in the name of that love.

To that respect, Lily Collins saw the challenge of portraying Edith as a similar learning opportunity to that of her Tolkien co-star, as she provided the following answer to that same question:

While Nicholas Hoult had footage of J.R.R. Tolkien’s interviews from later on in life to go off of, Lily Collins didn’t have anything of the sort when it came to her portrayal of Edith. While it’s certainly an added level of challenge, at the same time, Collins admits that so long as her performance landed in a zone of approximation that matched what was written about Edith Bratt, she was free to move her performance in any direction that suited the sort of aura surrounding Edith’s character.

Very rarely can any actor capture the complete essence of the person they’re playing in a biopic. But in the case of Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins, their portrayals of J.R.R. Tolkien and his wife are so well drawn, you can believe their story is not only true, but worthy of a happy ending.

The life story of Tolkien and his ultimate creation of Middle-Earth make for good movie watching, and audiences can see it for themselves as they see Tolkien in theaters, starting with early shows this evening. Between the various incarnations of both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, as well as the new biopic Tolkien, the fascination with the world of Middle-Earth is one that is still as strong today as it was when this literary legend first got its start.

It certainly isn’t by accident, as the world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy franchise has captivated the imagination of audiences since The Hobbit’s first publication in 1936. And no one knows this better than the cast of director Dome Karukoski’s film centered around the years that Tolkien himself spent in the halls of academia and the trenches of war.

Depending on who you talk to, there are various aspects to J.R.R. Tolkien’s work that attract any particular reader. And as it happens, CinemaBlend was on hand during the press day for Tolkien, and was able to ask the actors present on the day just what makes those works so timeless. In the case of Nicholas Hoult, the man who plays Tolkien himself, those works of literature stand out for the following reasons:

Of course, J.R.R. Tolkien didn’t create the world of Middle Earth in a vacuum, and there were a couple very important people that stand out in both the story of the author’s life, as well as the film version that Tolkien will dramatize for audiences that will see the film in theaters.

One such person was the love of his life, Edith Bratt, who is played in the film by Lily Collins. When asked what she felt made Tolkien’s work so special, she shared some of the same aspects that Nicholas Hoult had highlighted, but with some additional details as to how her character fit into the legend behind the history.

In particular, Collins had the following to say on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien:

As there is a lot of romantic love to be highlighted in the world of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, especially when it comes to the Elvish beauties that Edith Bratt had inspired Tolkien to create, there’s also a strong bond of fellowship.

That particular branch of the mythos that J.R.R. Tolkien wove into his works came from the friendship he had with a personal society of school friends known as the Tea Club, Barovian Society, or TCBS for short. In Tolkien, the world of this informal fraternity is depicted at length, as the author and his friends, Geoffrey Bache Smith, Robert Q. Gilson, and Christopher Wiseman, are seen creating the club and using it to achieve their great goal in life: to change the world through art.

Played respectively by actors Anthony Boyle, Patrick Gibson, and Tom Glynn-Carney, they too had a unique perspective as to why J.R.R. Tolkien’s work translates so well through the ages, as shown below in their individual remarks during a grouped interview:

With both massive sales of his printed works, as well as the various adaptations for stage and screen that have seen The Lord of the Rings presented to the world, J.R.R. Tolkien’s impact on the world of fantasy is one that isn’t going to go away any time soon. This is especially true when taking into account the fact that Amazon is about to bring the world of Middle-Earth back to the masses, courtesy of their upcoming epic TV series.

While storytelling and fantasy have come a long way since J.R.R. Tolkien's era of literature, the core values of Tolkien's storytelling have never gone out of style. So even if audiences aren't particularly keyed into the author's famous tales, his work lives on due to his influence being felt on stories like Harry Potter and even Game of Thrones.

If you have been browsing Netflix this weekend, you might have come across Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile about serial killer Ted Bundy. Zac Efron plays Bundy while Lily Collins plays his longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer. Stepping into any kind of dramatic role like this must take a toll on the actor, but Collins got an extra boost to play the role after she was visited by what she believes to be the ghosts of the women Ted Bundy killed.

In the film (and also real life), Ted Bundy killed 30 women and girls across seven states in the 1970s. During the majority of this time, the charismatic Bundy had a girlfriend named Elizabeth Kloepfer. Kloepfer couldn't believe that Bundy was guilty and claimed that he was innocent. It's a strong story and an especially powerful one considering the many victims at the hand of Bundy.

There are plenty of instances where survivors or family members of victims give their blessings to have a movie made, but it's really rare for ghosts to give the okay. Lily Collins claims that the spirits of the women Ted Bundy killed visited her late at night, and it began when she started to wake up at 3 a.m. every night.

Lily Collins goes on to tell the Guardian that she believes she was being contacted by spirits. However, it wasn't a scary experience like out of a Conjuring movie. Collins states that she wasn't frightened at all and that the women were there to show their support.

It's not my place to say whether ghosts are real or not, but Lily Collins sure believes it, and it nevertheless sounds like quite the experience for her.

Including Extremely Wicked, 8 films have been made about Ted Bundy. He's been called one of the most ruthless and cold people to ever exist. Netflix's film has gotten mostly mixed reviews, but most critics have called Zac Efron's performance as Bundy a highlight of the movie.

There is a certain surface image that we have of Zac Efron as an actor thanks to his roles in things like High School Musical, Neighbors and Baywatch. That image is about to be blown out of the water, though, because Zac Efron’s next role is that of Ted Bundy in the upcoming film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, And Vile. Check out the actor taking an unsettling turn as the notorious serial killer in the trailer for the film below.

Zac Efron often plays charismatic, funny and charming characters, which makes his role here all the more perfect, because it plays on our preconceived notions about the actor, just as Ted Bundy himself went against what you would expect a serial killer to be. Ted Bundy was all of those things and Zac Efron is bringing that to the role, but, beneath the winning smile there is a hint of something far darker.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, And Vile knows all of that, and for a good part of this trailer, it is showing us a loving father and devoted boyfriend, who is charming the media and everyone around him. This is no Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs; surely Bundy could not have done these things.

If you knew nothing about Ted Bundy you might believe that and think he is being framed, but, because you do, the effect is entirely different. You are unsettled because this is Ted Bundy, but also because of what Zac Efron is bringing to the role, a certain look, expression or movement that provides a glimpse at his true nature.

This works especially well because Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, And Vile is told through the perspective of his long-time girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer, played by Lily Collins, who ignored the signs, and for years refused to believe that he was guilty. She may have been seeing the good and ignoring the bad and this trailer operates in much the same way.

While it goes without saying that the crimes are heinous and everything the title of the film says and more, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, And Vile looks like a really fun movie that isn’t nearly as bleak as something like Zodiac. The tone is zippy and Zac Efron looks hugely entertaining in the role. This trailer even has some funny moments, like the very end where Ted Bundy escapes and is running down the street in a robe.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, And Vile premieres at the Sundance Film Festival this month but a wide release has not yet been set. Although serial killer Ted Bundy is the focus of the upcoming thriller movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, the story will be told from the perspective of Bundy's girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, played by Rules Don't Apply's Lily Collins. For years, Kloepfer was unaware that her boyfriend was one of the worst monsters ever to walk the Earth. Like most of the people Bundy crossed paths with, she thought he was a charismatic charmer, and the latest photo from Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile's shoot exemplifies this as we see Collins' Kloepfer and Zac Efron's Bundy enjoying a pleasant evening together.

Over the last couple weeks, Zac Efron has been sharing behind looks into the making of Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile on his Instagram page, from our first picture of the Baywatch actor as Ted Bundy to Efron behind the wheel of a 1968 Volkswagen Beetle, the car Bundy used when kidnapping and killing his victims. Efron's latest picture shows him and Lilly Collins (who recently wrapped working on Tolkien) shooting a scene that looks like Bundy and Elizabeth Kloepfer on a date. Collins' Kloepfer is clearly having a good time and doesn't at all suspect that the man alongside her is a deranged murderer. However, she'll soon learn the truth and have to cope with his true nature. In real life, Kloepfer alerted the authorities several times when she started to suspect Bundy was behind the disappearances of numerous women, and her calls were one of the many developments that eventually led to Bundy's arrest in 1975, though he wouldn't be permanently imprisoned until 1978. Bundy was executed in 1989 for his crimes.

Announced at the Cannes Film Festival last year, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is being directed by documentarian Joe Berlinger, and Lilly Collins (whose other credits include Mirror Mirror, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Okja and The Last Tycoon) was added to the cast last October. The movie's other actors include John Malkovich, Angela Sarafyan, Jeffrey Donovan, Grace Victoria Cox, Kaya Scodelario, Haley Joel Osment, Dylan Baker and Terry Kinney.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile doesn't have an assigned release date yet, but I suspect it will be ready to go by 2019 or potentially even in the final months of 2018. Voltage Picture's Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, about serial killer Ted Bundy, has just cast one of the lead roles for the upcoming thriller. Lily Collins will join the film as Elizabeth Kloepfer, Ted Bundy's girlfriend during his notorious murder spree. Lily Collins will join Zac Efron, who was already announced to play the notorious serial killer in the upcoming flick.

We already knew that this film is going to be told from the perspective of Elizabeth herself and now, according to Deadline, we know that Lily Collins will portray Bundy's girlfriend in what was no doubt a highly coveted role. Lily Collins was recently seen in Amazon's The Last Tycoon and in Netflix's Okja. She is currently filming for Tolkien, where she will portray Edith Bratt. She also received a Best Actress Golden Globe nomination last year for her work in Warren Beatty's Rules Don't Apply.

Lily Collins will join Zac Efron in what has the potential to be a career-changing performance for the former Disney Channel star. Efron may be best known for his comedy roles and frat boy persona but this type of character allows for a transformation that could really show off his acting chops. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile will hopefully provide a unique perspective on the Ted Bundy story since it is being told through the eyes of his girlfriend. Elizabeth Kloepfer long believed Ted Bundy to be innocent before she finally realized the truth.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile is being directed by Joe Berlinger and written by Michael Werwie. Joe Berlinger is primarily a documentary filmmaker of true crime stories, so he definitely has an affinity for this subject matter. He was also the director of 2000's Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. Given his background in the documentary world, he may be able to bring a unique sense of realism to this thriller. The main question is can he get the kind of performances out of his leads that these roles demand. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile is set to begin production in January but a release date has not yet been announced.

Ted Bundy was a serial killer and rapist in the 1970's who admitted to 36 killings and is suspected of having committed up to 100. Bundy was put to death via the electric chair in 1989. His name has since become notoriously mentioned with all of the most well-known serial killers.

The true crime genre has seen a surge in popularity in recent years thanks to the Serial podcast, Netflix's Making a Murderer and The Keepers and HBO's The Jinx. Most recently Netflix's Mindhunter from David Fincher explored the early days of the FBI's exploration of the criminal mind and the genesis of the term 'serial killer'.

Netflix's To The Bone is already in hot water, which is bad news considering the film hasn't even hit the service yet. The film centers on Ellen (Lily Collins) who is a girl with anorexia nervosa who enters a treatment program to help her eating disorder. Many have seen the trailer, and a few are speaking out in fear that the film and Netflix are triggering and romanticizing a very serious issue.

Metro writes that people are flooding the comments of the film's trailer on YouTube with criticism towards how To The Bone addresses eating disorders in its roughly two-minute trailer. Those criticizing feel that Netflix is using the spectacle of shock to draw audiences in, and perhaps romanticizing what it means to have an eating disorder. Director of To The Bone Marti Noxon has addressed these criticisms on Twitter and assures fans as someone who suffered from eating disorders herself that the film does not portray it in that way:

It's worth mentioning as well that To The Bone star Lily Collins has also talked about her struggles with an eating disorder through numerous outlets, so it would appear many people educated on the subject matter had a hand in this film. Collins has gone on the record before saying she spent years controlling her eating habits and abusing laxatives for nearly a decade without her friends or father (Phil Collins) knowing about it. From the sound of it, it seems as though some of the scenes Collins is acting in the trailer are portions of her life that she may have actually lived, which could provide further legitimacy from those opposed to its airing.

One has to wonder if the controversy of To The Bone is, in a way, tied to 13 Reasons Why. Much like To The Bone, 13 Reasons Why found several critics who did not appreciate the show's depiction and graphic display of suicide. Most criticism of 13 Reasons Why came after the series had premiered, however, which may be why audiences are quick to get out ahead of To The Bone before anything potentially damaging ideas reach the masses.

People will get to decide for themselves whether To The Bone is respectful or not as the film hits Netflix on July 14th. Keanu Reeves is also featured in the film and looks to be taking a break from his rough and tumble John Wick persona that has really elevated his career as of late. Few genres have become safer bets for awards season than biopics. However, the prestige of the genre has also led to a major over-saturation of these types of films. That being said, every now and then we see a trailer for one that really gets us excited as moviegoers. Warren Beatty's upcoming return to the silver screen as Howard Hughes in the long-awaited Rules Don't Apply has done just that. Check out the trailer below to see for yourself.

That's a trailer that sells Rules Don't Apply as pure, unadulterated Oscar bait -- and I mean that in the best possible way. Centering on a young driver (Alden Ehrenreich) for the eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes (Warren Beatty) in 1958 Hollywood, the film follows this young man as he begins a forbidden relationship with a young actress (Lily Collins) as the wealthy businessmen also falls for her. It's a movie chock full of hilarious antics befitting a genuinely absurd man like Howard Hughes, but it also appears to possess a deeply profound love story set during the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Each and every member of the Rules Don't Apply ensemble looks perfectly cast in their respective roles, but the one we're most excited about is up-and-comer Alden Ehrenreich. The actor most recently proved his ability to take on an old-Hollywood period piece earlier this year in his breakout role as Hobie Doyle with the Coen Brothers comedy Hail! Caesar. He's clearly got strong acting chops, and another great performance in Rules Don't Apply could go a long way towards proving his ability to nail the character of Han Solo when he steps into the shoes of the iconic character for the Star Wars prequel.

The fact that Rules Don't Apply will actually come to the silver screen in many ways feels like nothing short of a miracle. Warren Beatty has expressed a vested personal interest in making the project since the 1970s, and as his career has worn on, it became more and more likely that he would never get a chance to chronicle the life of the eccentric Howard Hughes on the big screen. Although he hasn't made a movie in quite some time, it's abundantly clear that the aging actor/filmmaker hasn't missed a beat as he appears to effortlessly shoulder the dual burden of directing Rules Don't Apply while simultaneously taking on its most important role. The man may be getting older, but it's clear that he's still got it.

Four years have passed since Hollywood first made public its intentions of seeing the parody novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies turned into a movie. Now, at long last it seems this genre mash-up of horror and romance is finally making its way to shooting.

Dread Central reports out of the European Film Market that the project is finalizing casting and prepping for production. This latest incarnation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies boasts a screenplay by Academy Award-nominated writer-director David O. Russell, and will be helmed by Burr Steers, whose last directorial efforts were the Zac Efron double-header of 17 Again and Charlie St. Cloud. Set to star as Elizabeth Bennet is the lovely Lily Collins of Mirror Mirror and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

No specifics on when principal photography might begin have been announced just yet, but this is the closest the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies movie has come to being a reality in years. Based on the cheeky Seth Grahame-Smith novel that re-imagines Jane Austen's classic novel with a heavy dose of zombies and martial artistry, the project was first announced in the winter of 2009. At the time, Russell was rumored to direct, and Natalie Portman was poised to play Lizzie Bennet the Zombie Slayer. But both were just the first in a long list of could-be helmers and leading ladies.

After Russell eventually left the project, there was a scramble for a new director that threw names like Neil Marshall (The Descent), David Slade (30 Days of Night), Matt Reeves (Cloverfield), directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie), Mike White (Year of the Dog), Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) and Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) into the mix. From this, White emerged as Lionsgate's suprising pick in the fall of 2010. But by the following spring, White was out, blaming scheduling issues. Next Fright Night director Craig Gillespie was attached, but he too bailed before the year was out.

Finally, Steers signed on in May of 2013, and Collins was set to star. Before her, Emma Stone and Blake Lively were considered for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' sassy, ass-kicking heroine. Both reportedly turned the part down. Why is unknown. It'd be easy to assume they'd seen either Dark Shadows or Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter--both penned Pride and Prejudice and Zombies author Grahame-Smith--and lost hope for the project. However, neither of these box office bombs had hit theaters just yet.

Thankfully, it seems Lionsgate has been smart enough to take the basic premise of Grahame-Smith's novel, which works surprisingly well, and dropped the author. Russell, is a sharp screenwriter who won major acclaim for his last adaptation, Silver Linings Playbook. So, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has a solid base on which to build. Are Steers and Collins the combination this long in-development project needs to bring it to life? We'll soon see.

It’s not always an easy task to create movies based on a series of well-liked books, especially those that have plenty of historical context that needs to be explained. The Lord of the Rings is a famous example of a film that gets the pre-narrative information out of the way early, by explaining the history of the ring in a story at the beginning of the first franchise film and coloring in other details later. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones doesn’t get that luxury. Since the story is one of a girl named Clary learning about her past and her unique role as a member of a society of Shadowhunters, an exclusive crew who protects the world from demons, the background details need to come out throughout the film. Unfortunately, this means the movie lacks some of the subtlety of its novel counterpart.

Jessica Prostigo was responsible for the screenplay that adapted Cassandra Clare’s City of Bones and director Harald Zwart brought it to the big screen. While they maintain the barebones outline of the narrative, a lot is changed from the book to the movie, including the opening scene. The earlier that details begin changing when being adapted for the big screen, the more the storyline will have to change later, and this is an issue The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones runs up against, again and again.

Following are the ten biggest changes I noticed in my screening of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Feel free to remark on any changes you feel may have been more noticeable. There are many spoilers in City of Bones book to movie comparison. Do not delve in if you want the film to be a surprise.

The opening scene introduces us to Clary, Luke and Jocelyn rather than the world of demon hunting. Clary’s been drawing a mysterious mark and her mother seems worried, but why she might be on edge isn’t explained. While this is less exciting than the opening sequence in the book, it does give us a glimpse at the haphazard unit that is the Fray family and we do get the fun club scene later on.

The mystery of who Clary is unfolds much faster in the film. Instead of the story of Clary’s mother’s shadowhunter past unfolding over time, we get scenes with Jocelyn where she says things like “Tell Luke that Valentine is alive.” This speeds up the plot, but it doesn’t let audiences savor watching Clary as the puzzle pieces fall into place. She finds out exactly how she fits into the shadowhunter world pretty early on.

Speaking of Jocelyn, we actually get to see Clary’s mother take on a few demons at the beginning of the film. City of Bones never does a huge justice to the character who is asleep for a good chunk of the series, but giving Lena Headey her own fight scene and showing how she is capable of taking on demon gives us an idea of how Clary is able to keep her wits under duress.

Clary’s first time up against a demon involves an oven explosion and a subsequent fire, after which Jace still has to come back and save her. It’s pretty damsel in distress-y, but it does save the writer from having to explain what a sensor is and does for shadowhunters. It also means that Clary can’t act tough about killing a demon later.

Hodge’s bird, Hugo, is briefly introduced onscreen, but he doesn’t play the huge role of spy and creepy character he plays in the novels. Hodge’s cat, Church, doesn’t make an appearance at all. Their presence in the books helps to explain how Hodge accrues so much knowledge and keeps a web of spies underfoot.

When Simon drinks the adventurous blue liquid, there's no misadventure in which he turns into a rat. I’m not sure if budget costs or the ludicrousness kept Zwart from moving forward with that plotline. I do know this film is very bad at teasing an additional potential romance between Simon and Isabelle, and maybe turning Simon into a rat could have put the focus briefly on the character and helped us to see how conflicted he is in his feelings, as well.

Bane has a much smaller role. Magnus Bane is the most popular character Clare has ever written. I know this because Bane appears in Clare’s prequel series The Infernal Devices and is getting his own set of short stories due to demand. He’s a dynamic, amusing, luminary figure and his lack of screentime and his less exciting personality in the film don’t do the character much justice.

The setting for the big showdown against Valentine is different. Instead of featuring a portal in a creepy old hospital on an island, the portal is in The Institute itself. This forces Valentine to bring the fight into a safe haven. Additionally, he introduces weird bat and fire-oriented demons that amp up the action a little in the film’s later scenes.

We learn about Luke’s ability to “change” early on. Clary must piece together that this means her mentor is a werewolf, but he and his pack play a huge role in helping to take back The Institute after Valentine swarms in. Werewolves are not supposed to set foot in The Institute, but as pack leader, Luke convinces them to break the rules once, to devastating results similar to those in the book.

Clary plays with her new rune-making skills at the end of the movie. A sequel, City of Ashes, is currently in pre-production and should the movie do well at the box office, we should be seeing more of Clary’s unique skill set in the future.

Remember all the way back in December 2009 when we first learned that there was going to be an adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's Pride & Prejudice & Zombies? If you forgot, I can't honestly blame you. It's now more than three years later and the project has never managed to make any real forward progress, running through directors like David O. Russell, Mike White, and Craig Gillespie, and potential stars like Natalie Portman, Emma Stone, and Blake Lively. Despite the fact that the production has never been able to make two pieces stick, it continues to rise from the dead.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Lily Collins is now set to star as the female lead in Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. What's more, Burr Steers, the filmmaker whose previous credits include Charlie St. Cloud, 17 Again, and Igby Goes Down, is now attached to direct. For those unfamiliar with Grahame-Smith's novel, the story is a twist on Jane Austen's classic story, pitting all of the great literary characters against a zombie apocalypse. While the film was originally set up at Lionsgate, it will now be financed by Panorama, which plans on selling the project at Cannes.

Collins, who is known for roles in movies like Abduction, Mirror Mirror and Priest, has a potential big break coming out this summer with the adaptation of the young adult novel sensation The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Still, a part of me sees her taking this part after seeing what Jane Levy did with the female lead in Evil Dead, a project Collins dropped.

Stuck in Love is the first feature film from writer-director Josh Boone. And while this is our first look at his ensemble romantic-comedy, its insanely stacked cast speaks well for its script. Untangling several interwoven stories about sex, love and romance, Stuck in Love stars Kristen Bell, Logan Lerman, Jennifer Connelly, Greg Kinnear, Lily Collins, Spencer Breslin, Admission's Nat Wolff, and Patrick Schwarzenegger in his first role since Jock Kid Game #3 in 2006's The Benchwarmers. And its first trailer seems to suggest that no matter what age you are, or what stage of life you're in, love can be baffling.

This is one thing that unites every member of the Borgens family. Father William (Kinnear) is a celebrated author who has been suffering from major writer's block since his wife Erica (Connelly) left him for a younger, fitter man. His teenage children are also both aspiring writers. Rusty (Wolff) is a science fiction enthusiast who admires Stephen King and seems destined for heartbreak when he pursues a gorgeous but troubled girl (Trespass's Liana Liberato). Samantha (Collins) is on the verge of publishing her first novel, and in response to her parents' divorce decides she'll duck love in favor of flings. But nothing for the Borgens goes quite according to plan.

Samantha meets a boy worth reconsidering her no-love position for. William begins to abandon his obsession with his ex when he starts an affair with a much younger and bubblier neighbor (Bell), who urges him to dive back into the dating pool. And Rusty learns love means more than his favorite novels ever let on.

Stuck in Love made its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival last fall. It opens in limited release April 19th, and expands into a wider release on June 14th.

It looks like Kristen Bell's agent is on a serious hot streak. Just two days after landing a lead role in Disney's Frozen and a part in Jennifer Getzinger's adaptation of Neil LaBute'sSome Girl(s), she has been cast in yet another project. And she has some pretty solid company as well.

Bell, Lily Collins, Lily Collins, Logan Lerman, Nat Wolff and Liana Liberato have all joined the ranks of Writers, a new dramedy from writer/director Josh Boone (who will be making his directorial debut. According to THR, which broke the casting story, the group of actors will be joining Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Connelly, who are already 0n-board. Set over the course of a year, the story centers on a a famous novelist, played by Kinnear, who has become entirely obsessed with his ex-wife (Connelly).

Collins will play the couples' daughter - who is college-aged and is lusted after by Lerman's character - and Wolff will play their son - who is in love with Liberato's character. Bell will be a friend of Kinnear's character who makes attempts to get him past his former love. Stephen King is set to make a cameo as himself in the film while Rusty Joiner and Patrick Schwarzenegger are also playing supporting roles. Production will begin this March in North Carolina.

It's really great to see Kristen Bell keep getting parts. Obviously she rose to popularity with the short-lived Veronica Mars, but in the years since she's shown herself to be a talented and funny actress. Her script choices aren't always the greatest - she does have titles like Burlesque and When in Rome on her resume - but hopefully this new string of roles will bring her the success she deserves.

Mirror Mirror the latest feature from visionary filmmaker Tarsem Singh has had a number of obstacles in its marketing campaign thus far. When the first trailer for Relativity Media's Snow White re-imagining hit last fall, commenters web-wide were quick to criticize its kid-friendly sensibilities, favoring instead the film's unavoidable rival, Snow White and Huntsman. While the former boasts bright colors and broad humor, the latter relished in brooding dark hues and decked out its pale princess in full-body armor. Then rumors emerged that many of the positive comments that peppered blog post's for Mirror Mirror's underwhelming trailer were the work of a troll hired by the film's studio.

Relativity was losing more and more ground, when they shifted the film's release to two weeks later, allowing for more time to re-tune their marketing. First the film's producers promoted the family-friendly appeal to parents with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Mirror Mirror. Now making its web debut is the new international trailer which proudly revels in Mirror Mirror's glorious—and sometimes girlish--delights. There's plenty here for kids to gawk at, but the latest trailer for this female-fronted adventure also offers seven elements that might enchant more mature movie-goers.

1. Lily Collins is thoroughly lovely as Snow White, displaying poise and charm along with some to-die-for eyebrows.

2. Armie Hammer is wonderfully dreamy as Snow White's adoring prince, from his sparkling white smile to his dorky rabbit-ears top hat.

3. Julia Roberts, who has long been rumored to be cantankerous, finally gets to embrace her inner bitch as the Evil Queen!

4. Awe-inspiring and totally enviably fashion!

5. Sexy swordplay!

6. Jagged, retractable dwarf stilts, sweeping cinematography and impeccable set design hint to what Tarsem, who crafted the stunning fantasy tale The Fall, has in store for Mirror Mirror audiences.

7. The prince as a puppy is wonderfully reminiscent of the seminal fairy-tale mini-series The 10th Kingdom. Remember how awesome that was?

Mirror Mirror opens March 30th.

We’re waiting on official confirmation from the studio, but for now, Variety reporter Jeff Sneider has Tweeted that Lily Collins has to bow out of the upcoming Evil Dead remake due to scheduling conflicts.

As we reported weeks ago, the Blind Side actress was in line to play Mia, the leader of a group of friends who take a vacation to a secluded spot in the woods and accidentally unleash a centuries-old evil force. The twist of this Dead is that Collins’ character is a recently sober drug addict who believes that the weird stuff happening around her is part of the “drying out” process.

Variety doesn’t elaborate on what the conflict is that’s keeping Collins out of Evil Dead. It could have something to do with her promotional duties for the upcoming Snow White fantasy Mirror Mirror with Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer. Outside of that, she was scheduled to play Clary Fray in Scott Charles Stewart’s action-adventure The Mortal Instruments. Which project stands in her way?

If Collins is out, then the casting machine will rev up once again for what is expected to be a major part in an anticipated horror reboot. Fede Alvarez directs and co-writes the new Evil Dead movie, which was touched up by Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body). It’s due in theaters on April 12, 2013, with or without Collins in the lead.

Lily Collins is having a massive 2012. She’s set to play Snow White opposite Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer in Mirror Mirror. And now Bloody Digusting says she’s the first name added to the cast of Fede Alvarez’s The Evil Dead reboot.

The site says Collins, who most know for playing Sandra Bullock’s daughter in The Blind Side, will play Mia, one of the five friends stranded in a cabin in the woods who come across the Book of the Dead. One by one, each character is possessed by an evil force until only one survivor is left standing. Mia, according to the site, is recovering with sobriety after a recent drug overdose, which explains why the other four campers don’t believe her claims that strange things are attacking her in the woods.

Bloody says the characters in Rodo Sayagues and Diablo Cody’s screenplay are David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia. (No Ash? WTF?!) The site says David is a mechanic. He’s engaged to Natalie, and the crew heads to the isolated cabin to help Mia detox. They speculate that Eric is the one who unleashes the centuries-old evil.

This is not to be confused with Drew Goddard’s anticipated The Cabin In the Woods, which has a similar plot but apparently goes in very, very different directions. As for Evil, I’m still getting used to the idea that they’re going to try and improve on Sam Raimi’s horror classic in the first place. But if they’re going to give it a whirl, they better commit to the trilogy, because we all know that Evil Dead 2 is the true masterpiece, and Army of Darkness could use a retouch. Oh, and more Bruce Campbell.

The comments section of many a movie blog can be a sordid place, where hateful readers linger with nary a positive thing to say. Writers do what they can to avoid the comments, for to peer into that section beneath a post is to stare into the mouth of madness, and to wade into the conversation and attempt discourse with a commenter can be an exercise in insanity.

Oh, and as it turns out, studios may be hiring trolls to post bogus positive comments beneath stories pertaining to their upcoming movies.

MovieMavericks.com recently figured out that the strangely positive posts beneath their story on the Mirror Mirror trailer came from the same IP address. In addition, the same comments (from the same four users) could be found beneath Mirror Mirror posts on HitFix, ScreenRant, The Playlist, and more. Notice how “Charlie” misspells director Tarsem Singh’s name (“Tareem”) in all of the posts underneath all of the stories on which he comments … or, better yet, cuts and pastes.

So the questions, as mentioned by MovieMavericks, circle around who’s responsible. Is it Relativity Media trying to drum up support for their own film on movie message boards? Are the personal assistants of actors Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer or Lily Collins tasked with hitting movie sites to post positive comments about the trailer, whether they believe in them or not? And here’s a better question: does it matter? Comments sections are open to anybody, and if a studio wants to go through the effort of creating a fake name to post a positive comment that they hope influences a reader, is it any worse that “blurbing” favorable critics on movie posters, newspaper advertisements, or TV commercials? Are you guys more willing to see something like Mirror Mirror because a comment under a story said it’s going to be the best movie ever?

One of the biggest battles of 2012 will be between Universal Studios and Relativity Media. As we’ve been reporting all year, both film companies have their own takes on the Snow White fairy tale coming out during the 12 month stretch. We’ve already seen the studios butt heads over release dates – Relativity pushing Tarsem Singh’s Untitled Snow White project up to March 16th while Universal has Rupert Sanders’Snow White and the Huntsman dated for June 1st – but what if the characters themselves went head to head?

Early this morning the first images from Singh’s version of the Grimm fairy tale came online and when looking at the Snow White and the Huntsman images from Comic Con, I got to thinking: how would Kristen Stewart’s princess do against Lily Collins’? Could Armie Hammer kick Chris Hemsworth’s ass? What would be the result of a battle between Charlize Theron and Julia Roberts? Below you will find my complete breakdown.

Battle of the Snow Whites: Kristen Stewart vs. Lily Collins

Looking at these two images, I know exactly what you’re thinking: “Eric, one of these young ladies is wielding a sword and shield while the other is sitting pretty in a fluffy blue dress. This is a no brainer.” To that I say not so fast. Stewart may have the equipment (the sword is actually below the picture), but Collins has the numbers. Stewart looks all sad and alone in that photo because she has no friends, meanwhile the bright and shiny, happy-looking princess is surrounded by seven dwarfs that are clearly a little off kilter. Hell, Mickey from Seinfeld has a battle helmet on and one of the dudes in the back clearly murdered and decided to wear a ferocious beast. Plus, that big fluffy dress would be pretty damn hard to stab.

Battle of the Dashing Hero: Chris Hemsworth vs. Armie Hammer

Now things are getting a little interesting. These are both strapping young men wielding hardcore weapons that could easily kill a man. But let’s do a little bit of body language analysis, shall we? First let’s take a gander at Hemsworth. His hair is straggly and looks like it hasn’t been washed in weeks, he has a beard (which is a +1 in any fight), his eyes suggest that he’s not too happy with the way you’re looking at him, and the axe is slung over his shoulder like it’s no big deal. Now let’s move over to Hammer. Yes, his sword is thrust forward, but he seems to be leaning back a bit taking a defensive stance. His coat is nice and shiny and I polar bears would be envious of how white that shirt is. If these characters were to actually fight, Hemsworth would probably be okay with getting stabbed a few times provided it got him close enough to chop off Hammer’s head. But let’s be real, this was over the second I noticed the beard.

Battle of the Evil Queen: Charlize Theron vs. Julia Roberts

This is a much different kind of battle than the last two. Neither of these characters are inclined to do any physical labor themselves, so they definitely aren’t going to be picking up arms against each other. No, this is a battle of malevolence; a war that is won by the queen that simply wants it more. Ignoring the dagger in Theron’s hands (that’s clearly for show, come on), the high-collar and black dress looks so damn evil that Osama bin Laden would have thought it was a bit too much. Then there’s Roberts relaxing deep in her chair and wearing a dress so big that even if she were to try and stand she probably wouldn’t be able to find the floor. She looks so damn relaxed that you could Photoshop a remote control into her right hand and nobody would blink an eye. The choice is simple: one of these ladies simply wanted it more.

BONUS ROUND - Battle of the Other Guys: Sam Claflin vs. Nathan Lane

Seriously? Come on. It’s in the eyes.

There still a little bit of time before the two competing Snow White movies come out next year, but it's probably wise to start picking sides now, because what are movies for if not meaningless contests? In one corner you've got Kristen Stewart, a suit of armor, Charlize Theron and Thor himself Chris Hemsworth swinging an axe instead of a mighty hammer. In the other corner you've got visionary director Tarsem Singh, an ethereal Lily Collins in an iridescent dress, and now, some new images from the film to help clearly draw the battle lines.

Tarsem's Snow White movie is still untitled-- the Kristen Stewart one is called Snow White and the Huntsman, if you're keeping track-- but that hasn't stopped Entertainment Weekly from revealing six new images from the film, including several shots of Julia Roberts in grand form and even grander dress as the Wicked Queen. We also get the first looks at Armie Hammer as the Prince, Collins in swordfighting mode (see, Kristen Stewart's Snow White isn't the only one who gets to do battle!), and the seven dwarves in a pretty jovial moment with Collins. As if it weren't already obvious, Tarsem's take on the material seems to be far more traditional and fairy-tale feeling, whereas the Kristen Stewart-starring one directed by Rupert Sanders, with its battle armor and dark look, seems to be headed somewhere entirely different. I never thought I would say this, but it really looks like there might be room for both of them, even if I do spend the next 6 months getting them mixed up. The untitled Lily Collins-starring Snow White hits theaters first, on March 16, while Snow White and the Huntsman comes a few months later on June 1. Choose your dwarf alliances wisely.

Last week it was reported that The Blind Side star Lily Collins was in line to join Odd Thomas, the Dean Koontz adaptation starring Star Treker Anton Yelchin. Then, later that same week, Collins landed the lead role as Snow White in Tarsem’s adaptation of the fairy tale, and honestly who could turn that down.

So with the female lead role in Odd Thomas open, Variety has it that 19-year-old actress Addison Timlin has stepped in to fill the void. Unfortunately for her, the character’s name is Stormy Llewellyn and she’ll have to be referred to as such for the duration of the shoot, but starring in a Dean Koontz adaptation with Anton Yelchin in the lead will certainly get her name out there. She recently enjoyed a six-episode run on Showtime’s Californication as David Duchovny’s love interest, so it’s safe to say that we’ll probably be hearing a lot more about her as her career moves forward.

In the ongoing battle of the Snow White movie projects, the one directed by Tarsem has taken a step forward by casting its princess. According to Variety Lily Collins, the 22-year-old Blind Side actress who also happens to be the daughter of Phil Collins, has been cast as the lead in the untitled 3D film, which features Snow White teaming up with the classic seven dwarves to reclaim her kingdom from the wicked queen. That evil ruler will be played by Julia Roberts, and Armie Hammer is on board to play "Prince Andrew Alcott," who presumably wakes Snow White from her spell at the end of the story.

Relativity Media has been moving swiftly forward with the project in recent weeks, gearing up to start production in May and setting a release date of June 29, 2012. Meanwhile the primary competition, Snow White and the Huntsman, recently lost Viggo Mortensen in the titular male lead; still, Kristen Stewart is attached as Snow White and Charlize Theron as the wicked queen, and production is scheduled for the fall in time for a December 2012 release.

With neither Relativity or Universal blinking at this point-- despite the setback in finding a male lead for Huntsman-- it looks like we really will be getting two Snow White projects within six months of each other next year, making the fairy tale heroine the asteroid, volcano or Truman Capote of 2012. There's so much starpower on either side it's hard to say which one will come out on top, but given how many seemingly identical superhero movies we're dealing with this summer, I don't really mind having two Snow White projects to choose from next year.

For those who are unawares, Lily Collins played Collins Tuohy in last years football dramafest The Blind Side which landed her several more roles in releases for this and next year. You’ll be able to catch her alongside Paul Bettany in Priest when that kicks off the summer on May 13. Fun Fact: she’s also the daughter of LEGENDARY musician Phil Collins.

The 22-year-old up and comer will likely add another film to her lengthening list of projects in the form of Dean Koontz adaptation Odd Thomas, according to Variety. They're reporting that she's beaten out a list of contenders that included Emma Roberts and Kat Dennings to play Stormy Llewellyn, girlfriend to the titular character Thomas, a clairvoyant line cook who will be played by Anton Yelchin-- you all remember him as Chekov in the Star Trek redo from 2009.

At the helm will be Stephen Sommers who most recently gave us one of the worst movies of all-time, G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra. Sommers will be directing his own script he wrote from the Koontz novel. Here's the book's review from Publisher's Weekly if you want to know more:

Now that the casting of Sony’s new Spider-Man is out of the way (in case you haven’t heard it’s Andrew Garfield), the rumor mill can turn its attention to playing guess the girlfriend. Because when it comes to superhero movies, that seems to be all women are good for in Hollywood. Playing girlfriends. Here’s hoping Scarlett Johansson can turn her Black Widow character from Iron Man 2 into something worthwhile. Until then, let’s see if we can figure out who’s going to get to kiss Spidey while he hangs upside down in the rain.

THR claims to have a line on who Sony’s letting director Marc Webb consider for the movie’s female lead. That lead, by the way, is definitely not Mary Jane Watson. So at least that’s one aspect of this reboot that won’t be repetitive and boring. Unless of course it’s Gwen Stacey, which is possible. But it’s definitely not Mary Jane, tiger.

So who’s up for the part? Not Mary Elizabeth Winstead. They say she’s out of the running, though I’m not sure who thought she was in. Scott Pilgrim’s flop couldn’t have helped. Here’s who is in contention:

Imogen Poots: This 21-year-old Brit was in V for Vendetta and 28 Weeks Later in smaller roles. Now she’s shooting Fright Night. I’m rooting for her, but only because her name is sure to get a laugh during Spider-Man: The Do-Over’s opening credits.

Ophelia Lovibond: Nice try with the funny name, but Lovibond is no Poots. This 24-year-old Brit has been in more than 20 movies and television shows, almost none of which you’re likely to have seen.

Lily Collins: THR misspells her name in their story, which tells you just how well known she is. Lily’s a 21-year-old Brit who you might have seen in The Blind Side as “Collins”.

Teresa Palmer: She’s a 24-year-old Australian who’s been rumored for almost every superhero movie in existence, but never actually made it into any of them. Most recently she had a part in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Emma Roberts: She’s Emma Roberts and she’s 19. The only actress on this list who’s really much of a “name”. She’s Julia Roberts’ niece and she’s had starring roles in movies like Valentine’s Day, The Winning Season (where she’s great), and Hotel for Dogs. She’s also the only American on this list.

My pick is Emma, and not because she’s recognizable. Truthfully, most of the other actresses have mostly done movies where they were hired because they’re pretty. Emma Roberts has actually done real, leading actress work and been good at it. She’s great in The Winning Season and in addition to the kid stuff she’s done she’s done acting-heavy indie movies like Lymelife. She can act. She’ll be great. She’s also American and it’s bad enough that Andrew Garfield is half a Brit, it’d be a little weird if the entire cast of one of the most well known, all-American superheroes is British. Or at least it would be weird if anyone cared about this horrible idea for a movie. Which they don’t. Sorry, I had to throw that in. Carry on.
