The men might take center stage tonight, with Colman Domingo, Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton and A$AP Rocky serving as co-chairs and LeBron James as honorary chair. I’m still excited to see what the ladies have in store, though. What will Zendaya be wearing? How many Kardashians are attending, or are we choosing to believe that Rihanna got them uninvited? South Park took aim at Ozempic and the larger theme of obesity in its most recent Paramount+ special. While much of the episode’s scorn was directed at insurance companies, designer drugs and rich moms, Lizzo also featured quite prominently. The outspoken advocate for body acceptance became the latest in a long list of celebrities to get skewered by creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, but rather than run from it, she decided to embrace it.

For Lizzo, embracing it meant recording herself watching it for the first time and posting a side-by-side clip on social media. As someone who loves South Park, reaction videos and celebrities taking jokes at their expense with good humor, I was obviously all over this. You can check out the Instagram embed of Lizzo repeatedly looking shocked, as well as an analysis of why this makes her “that bitch” in the wrap-up at the end…

The episode in question is called South Park: The End Of Obesity. It follows the various characters as they all deal with the Ozempic craze. Cartman, unwilling to exercise and furious that the drug isn’t covered by insurance, decides to make some himself. Meanwhile, Randy Marsh starts hanging out with a group of moms and taking Ozempic with them, while his wife Sharon starts taking the lower cost alternative called Lizzo, which lowers your standards and makes you OK with being plus-sized.

It’s clearly not the most flattering portrayal in the entire world, especially since there’s a side-plot involving Lizzo’s music damaging people’s ears, but the central message of accepting yourself at your size has been core to the singer’s gospel since she got famous. She focused on that during her post-viewing analysis and also how surreal it is to be even thought of by the creators of South Park. All in all, it was much more positive than her pre-viewing analysis, where she admitted her “worst fear” was being “actualized.” Here’s a portion of her wrap-up quote…

Over the course of its 300+ episodes, TV specials and movies, South Park has shown itself to be an equal opportunity offender. It has taken aim at a wide variety of fads, crazes and every political ideology possible. As such, it’s no surprise to see Ozempic as the latest target, as the weight loss drug has become a hot topic of conversation and a divisive issue among some.

As for Lizzo, she’s been keeping a lower profile over the last year or so after she was sued by some of her former back-up dancers who accused her of body shaming and sexual harassment. She remains a very popular figure in the body acceptance movement and her music is still very widely played, most notably her hits “Truth Hurts”, “Good As Hell” and “About Damn Time.”

The sheer dress trend certainly isn't going away anytime soon, if recent appearances by Miley Cyrus and Megan Fox are any proof, but those see-through, free-the-nipple frocks have found some sartorial competition in the form of the corset dress, which made quite the showing at this weekend's Grammy Awards, as Taylor Swift, Doja Cat and more rocked the form-fitting look. 

Taylor Swift Looked Gorgeous In Her White Corset Gown

Music megastar Taylor Swift — who snatched headlines during the ceremony with her Album of the Year win as well as her mid-acceptance-speech announcement of her latest upcoming project The Tortured Poets Department — has a long history of wearing great outfits to the Grammys. For this year's edition, she hopped on the corset dress train in a couture Schiaparelli white gown. 

She paired the lace-up look with a watch choker (set to midnight, naturally), black Giuseppe Zanotti heels and her famous plus one, Lana Del Rey. (Alas, her football-playing boyfriend Travis Kelce couldn't join her because he was busy getting ready for a little something known as the Super Bowl.)

Overall, the Old Hollywood look fit the vibe of her new album, and the night as many other A-listers also rocked corset gowns to the music industry's biggest event.

Doja Cat, Lizzo And More Also Rocked The Corset Look

Other pop stars also stepped out in the waist-cinching style, including Doja Cat, a 2024 Grammys nominee for Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Melodic Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. The rapper-singer, who has never been one to shy away from some out-there fashion looks (remember that feline moment at the Meta Gala?), showed up to Sunday's awards ceremony in a revealing Dilara Findikoglu dress that actually combined both the corset and sheer dress trends.

A true-and-through naked dress like the one Nicole Kidman rocked, the champagne-colored gown showed off the performer's faux full-body tattoos, including one of the Turkish-British fashion designer's name on her forehead. 

R&B singer Victoria Monét arrived at the 66th annual Grammy Awards already looking like a winner in a custom brown corset gown by Versace, completed with Bulgari jewels, a chic updo and the sweetest accessory of all, her two-year-old daughter, Hazel (per Elle). Monét walked away a winner, too, taking home the coveted Best New Artist trophy. 

Lizzo continued the corset trend when the "About Damn Time" singer took to the stage in a surprise appearance to present the award for Best R&B Song. (The performer has seemingly been keeping things on the down low throughout her ongoing discrimination and harassment lawsuits these past few months.) While Swift's corset gown features lace-up detailing along the back, Lizzo's corsetry was front and center in her strapless black-leather number, which she paired with chunky silver bangles and bracelets up and down her arms. 

Pop icon Kylie Minogue looked padam-padam-perfect in her own corseted ensemble, a custom, cherry-red Dolce & Gabbana gown with lace-up detailing throughout and a chiffon cape. The Aussie star secured her second-ever Grammy win for her track "Padam Padam," which nabbed the inaugural award in the newly introduced Best Pop Dance Recording category. 

Though it's clear that corset-inspired couture is on the rise with celebrities, lace-up bustiers and body shapers have been employed for centuries by folks wanting a little extra structure and snatching in their fashion looks. Less pricey than those expensive cryotherapy treatments but more convenient than polar plunging oneself into a freezing ocean, ice baths have become a popular wellness go-to for the Hollywood A-list, from noted almond mom, vaginal-health guru and Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow to professional athletes like LeBron James, Cristian Ronaldo and Naomi Osaka.

Ice baths are pretty self-explanatory: they're a form of cold therapy where a person submerges themself in a bath or vessel filled with ice or ice water for a limited duration of time. Though ice baths have risen in popularity among the rich and famous only recently, they've been utilized for centuries—in Scandanavian countries, for example, it's customary to follow up a hot sauna session with a plunge into a freezing cold pool— and the purported therapeutic benefits are numerous, from reducing muscle soreness to aiding in pain management to reducing inflammation. 

Though far brisker and (likely less) relaxing than those scenic outdoor baths and cushy indoor jacuzzi favored by other celebrities (that bath looks mighty balmy, JLo), it's clear that the demand for ice baths is heating up among showbiz's most notable names. Here are some famous folks who count themselves as fans, plus the health and fitness benefits they proclaim to gain from the cold-water immersion trend. 

Which Celebrities Are Big Proponents Of Ice Baths?

Lebron James

Ice baths seems to be gaining popularity across many disciplines in the entertainment industry, but cold-water immersion is probably best-known as a method of speeding up muscle recovery and reducing swelling and tissue breakdown for professional athletes. 

One of the true NBA GOATs, Los Angeles Lakers power forward LeBron James, has a long history with using cold temps for post-game recovery, from whole-body cryotherapy to waist-deep ice baths. Though he jokingly called the latter "borderline torture," per Business Insider, the basketball icon has regularly publicized his use of those glacial soaks after a grueling game on his Instagram. 

The Kardashian And Jenner Clan

It's not only pro athletes who seek out the bod-boosting benefits of cold plunges. Members of the Kardashian clan have famously adopted the ice-bath trend as a method of self-care, with sisters Kendall Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian and Kim Kardashian all seeking out the chilly services of Remedy Place, a "social wellness club" with locations in West Hollywood and NYC's Flatiron neighborhoods. 

The wellness center reportedly does house calls, which Jenner took advantage of with a portable Remedy Place ice bath at her own home in California. 

Big sis Kourtney apparently liked the at-home treatment so much she installed her own private ice bath at her Calabasas abode with husband Travis Barker, to the tune of $7,500, reports The Sun. She even hosted an entire ice-bath activation at her brand's Poolside with Poosh event, where the reality star and her famous siblings and friends were challenged to take a dip in a barrel bath filled with icy water.

Per The Daily Mail, Kim Kardashian initially didn't enjoy the frosty sensation, jumping out of the ice bath and jokingly dubbing herself "the weakest link" of the group. However, an Instagram video proves that the SKIMs mogul would later learn to love the benefits of ice bath, as she stopped into a Remedy Place location for an icy, full six-minute dip.

Madonna

Many popular musicians, whose bodies have to withstand exhausting touring schedules and high-energy, multi-hour live performances, have also adopted the practice as a conditioning tool. 

Her "Madgesty" herself, Madonna, has been one of pop music's most enduring and dynamic entertainers for decades, and the key to that longevity might just be in the singer's dedication to her physical fitness. Post-show ice baths are one element the 65-year-old performer famously includes in her wellness regimen to help soothe any aches and pains she might have from all of those hours of intense dance choreography. 

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has long admitted to following in Madge's footsteps, and it looks like her self-care routine is no exception. Mother Monster maintains her own performance levels with a nightly post-show routine centered around a cold plunge. 

The singer broke down the post-show wellness routine she implemented during her Las Vegas concert residency, which includes what's called a "contrast bath," an icy bath alternated with a hot bath. Gaga wrote on Instagram:

The "Born This Way" singer has been candid about her struggles with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that can cause widespread pain and tenderness throughout the body. In her 2017 Netflix documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two, the Oscar winner described the illness as a "cyclone of anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and panic disorder," so she could very well be utilizing the baths as much for their mental health properties as their physical benefits. 

Harry Styles

Harry Styles is also a big fan of a cold-water plunge, both out in nature and in the comfort of a private ice bath. The former boy bander has been regularly spotted by eagle-eyed fans taking frigid outdoor swims, such as at Vico Baths in South Dublin. He also has been known to employ an indoor cold plunge after getting offstage from his high-octane live performances, including his world-spanning Love on Tour gigs. He showed off his ice-bath set-up following a Cologne concert on his Instagram in June 2022. 

Lizzo

Styles' famous buddy Lizzo has also jumped on the ice-bath bandwagon, displaying her own outdoor cold plunge over on her TikTok: 

And, seeing as how she's explored nearly every wellness trend from dry brushing to oil pulling, it's not a surprise that wellness queen Gwyneth Paltrow also has a custom cold-plunge pool in her elaborate home spa in Montecito, California. 

Yet it is a surprise that, though Gwyn once sought out the "Iceman" expertise of Wim Hof to teach Goop staffers the benefits of cold therapy in her Netflix docuseries The Goop Lab with Gwyneth Paltrow, it's actually Paltrow's husband, Hollywood producer Brad Falchuk, who is the "obsessive cold plunger" in the family. 

What Do Kim K And Other Celebs Say About Ice Baths?

It's one thing to jump on a Hollywood trend, but it's another if that Hollywood trend actually works. And according to cold-plunging celebrities, they're really feeling the body benefits of ice baths. The Good Place star Kristen Bell has said that she seeks out ice baths for its help with "mental acuity and alertness throughout the day," with cold plunging shown to "increase dopamine concentrations by 250 percent." 

In the aforementioned TikTok, Lizzo hypes up the anti-inflammation benefits of ice baths, captioning the clip: 

Styles publicly touted the virtues of a cold-water dip in a 2022 interview with Better Homes & Garden: 

Tennis great Naomi Osaka has also exalted the restorative properties of ice baths, but like Gaga, she combines the practice with a warm bath following those intense matches. As she told Vogue, it "flushes the lactic acid" out of her system:

Though Kim K was initially scared of the frigid temps, she later said in that Instagram video that the cold isn't that bad "once you get past it":

As with any wellness trend, you're going to want to do your research before taking the plunge—literally, in this case. But if it's good enough for the world's best athletes and most popular entertainers, we're thinking there might actually be something to this ice-bath phenomenon. As we head towards the end of the 2023 movie release schedule, there’s a renewed focus on big ticket spectacle. That desire also comes with a want to find something the entire family can watch, and director Simon Cellan Jones’ new film The Family Plan pairs both of those factors into something a household with an Apple TV+ subscription can watch together.

Though in discussing the process surrounding the Mark Wahlberg-led ensemble comedy, both the director and co-stars Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby revealed a pretty fun story about a Lizzo easter egg. Here’s how spur-of-the-moment improv and the sibling dynamic led to a musical gag that’s part of this year's rundown of new family movies perfect to enjoy during the holidays! 

The Family Plan’s Lizzo Easter Egg Was A Last Minute Addition

The scene we’re about to discuss isn’t exactly a plot heavy moment, but it is included in the credits to Apple TV+ and Skydance Productions’ The Family Plan. So I wouldn’t blame you if you want to keep the comedy fresh for the first viewing, as you would with any of the best Apple TV+ movies. Consider this your jumping off point, as when the text picks up again below, it’s about that time. 

During the road trip that sees Dan Morgan (Mark Wahlberg) on the run with his wife (Michelle Monaghan) and kids, some family singalongs crop up in the middle of the action. For the parents, “Ice Ice Baby” happens to be a track of choice that allows Wahlberg and Monaghan to get a bit goofy. As for older children Nina (Zoe Colletti) and Kyle (Van Crosby), Lizzo’s smash hit “About Damn Time” is their go-to song of choice. 

The moment stood out to me when I watched the film in preparation for The Family Plan junket, as it felt like it was either a moment of improv greatness or just a testament to the brother/sister chemistry Colletti & Crosby had in play. As it turns out, it was a little bit of both, and I confirmed as much when I got to speak with all three parties previously mentioned. 

We'll start with Simon Cellan Jones' part of the story, as that's where it was discovered that the Lizzo tune came up so far along in the process, that track almost didn’t make it. Clarifying how this all came to pass, and the hurdles eventually cleared to make it happen, Jones told CinemaBlend the following story:

That decision-making process is pretty indicative of how The Family Plan took its final shape. Starting with writer David Coggeshall’s Black List-charting script, producer/star Mark Wahlberg helped shape the direction of the project into the movie you can see now. And admittedly, a movie where an ex-assassin tries to evade his former employer, while also handling diaper duty, might not sound like a natural family fit at first. 

But in the spirit of some of the best Mark Wahlberg movies, it’s that unexpected curveball that was used to mold The Family Plan into something that definitely doesn’t lack in car crashes or parental pep talks. That diaper remark wasn’t a joke either, as Wahlberg’s character Dan Morgan proves himself to be a quick draw when freshening up his toddler.

With an eye for both humor and action being kept in mind, the improv friendly atmosphere was certainly helpful. Part of the reason for that is the fluid nature that allowed co-stars Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby to play a huge part in bringing Lizzo into the fold. As I spoke with both of those young stars during The Family Plan’s press day, CinemaBlend was able to learn the following details about their role in this choice: 

“Zoe Colletti: We did have to pick the song. It was last minute, but he did let us pick the song. Which probably ended up being me picking the song. But it was fun. 

Van Crosby: Yeah, it was a good time.”

The decision to welcome improvisation onto the set wasn’t a spur of the moment whim either. As my conversations with Simon Cellan Jones, as well as Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby continued, I learned that the “think on your feet” mentality was baked into the structure of this picture from day one.

How Improv Helped Build The Family Plan In Its Early Days

Reaching back to the script level of The Family Plan, Simon Cellan Jones provided more background into just how the fun and free-spirited nature of improv helped further build the film out. However, he also firmly acknowledged that the script, which was a finalist in The Black List’s 2021 slate of hotly-buzzed screenplays, was still very much the law of the land. Here’s how Jones described the handshake between structure and spontaneity: 

“Bonus moments” has to be one of the most creative names for scenes created off the cuff, and it absolutely describes the Lizzo easter egg of sorts at the end of The Family Plan. It may not have happened if Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby weren’t already in tune with each other as on-screen siblings either.

Chalking up their excellent chemistry to, among other things, a dinner with their mothers, Colletti and Crosby found themselves falling into the rhythm very easily. Perhaps the greatest preparation for this plan of attack was the audition experience, which Colletti herself shared through the following details:

Months ago, rapper and singer Lizzo found herself embroiled in a few legal situations. The first involved claims of misconduct, which were leveled against her by ex dancers from her Amazon series in August. Another lawsuit was filed against her in September and came from the entertainer’s former tour wardrobe designer, Asha Daniels. She accused the “Good as Hell” singer of illegal retaliatory termination as well as sexual and racial discrimination. The star herself is now reportedly looking to get the suit thrown out. With that, Daniels’ lawyer issued a response to the attempt. 

What’s Going On With The Legal Situation Involving Lizzo And Her Former Designer?

Lizzo and her Big Grrl Big Touring, Inc. contend that Asha Daniels should not be able to lean on California’s legal system while she’s in Europe and working for a Delaware-based corporation. On the heels of those arguments being presented, Ron Zambrano – Daniels’ lawyer – released a statement that was shared with Deadline. Not only did he chastise the sentiments that were shared by the Grammy winner and her company but Zambrano also stated that he and his team saw this “Hail Mary” coming:

Ron Zambrano’s client accused the multi-hyphenate of fostering a “toxic work environment” and for purportedly creating a “culture of racism and bullying” amid the tour for her fourth album, Special. The songstress and her team, for their part, claim that amid her “brief employment by BGBT,” the designer “refused to comply with instructions from her supervisors and tour management.” It’s also alleged that Asha Daniels “failed to perform the work that she was assigned” and later “played hooky and refused to show up for work.” In regard to the group’s reasoning for Daniels’ termination, Zambrano shared the following sentiments:

The entertainer, who’s nearly reached EGOT status, as well as her team at Lavely & Singer want their demurrer motion to be heard on January 24, 2024. It remains to be seen just how that situation plays out. 

Where Do Things Stand When It Comes To The Lawsuit Involving The Performer’s Ex Dancers?

Also still in flux is the court case that stemmed from allegations made by the three former dancers who worked with the singer. Noelle Rodriguez, Arianna Davis and Crystal Williams worked with her on the show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls (which is streamable for Prime Video subscribers). Also represented by Ron Zambrano, the trio accused the performer – whose birth name is Melissa Jefferson – of creating a work environment filled with sexual harassment, racism and “false imprisonment.” The three also alleged that they were forced to participate in sex shows and that religious ideology was imposed upon them. 

Days after the lawsuit was filed, Lizzo responded to the allegations, denying them and saying that they were “too outrageous” not to address. In the same statement, she said that it’s never her intention to “make anyone feel uncomfortable or like they aren’t valued as an important part of the team.” These claims arrive amid the “Truth Hurts” singer’s rise within the entertainment industry. She’s seen increased singing and acting opportunities as of late (including a cameo on The Mandalorian). What seemingly made the claims more shocking to the public was the fact that the star of the Love, Lizzo documentary has established herself as a celebrity who supports body positivity. 

Lizzo previously filed to have her former dancers’ suit dismissed as well, and a hearing on the matter was held on November 27. As it stands, the presiding judge has yet to make a ruling on that matter. We can only wait for updates on that matter as well as the ongoing legal situation involving Asha Daniels.

Every October, your favorite celebrities go completely all out for Halloween, whether it be for star-studded parties, social media splendor or for the simple pleasures of playing dress up on their own terms. From Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly’s incredible couple costumes, to Florence Pugh embracing her Guy Fieri hair, celebrities went off for 2023 Halloween celebrations. 

This is an odd year for celebrities and Halloween considering SAG-AFTRA actually discouraged actors from dressing up as movie characters amidst the ongoing actors strike. However, that certainly didn’t stop big names from doing the most for the spooky holiday. Check them out: 

Keke Palmer as The Bride of Frankenstein 

2023 has been a particularly big year for Keke Palmer since she recently welcomed her first child in February with boyfriend Darius Jackson. 10-month-old Leodis Andrellton Jackson had an epic first Halloween as the Doctor Frankenstein to Palmer’s incredible Bride of Frankenstein costume. The mother and son went all out with a black-and-white photoshoot playing homage to the 1935 classic. That’s not all Keke Palmer did though; she also channeled Disney’s Life-Size by dressing up as Tyra Banks’ Barbie-esque character on Instagram. 

Florence Pugh as Guy Fieri 

Midsommar and Don’t Worry Darling star Florence Pugh has been rocking bleach blonde short hair as of late, which made for the perfect opportunity for her to be the Mayor of Flavortown this Halloween! The Oscar-nominated actress put on a fake beard and yellow sunglasses alongside A Good Person co-star Zoe Lister-Jones. 

The Riverdale Gals as The Gotham City Sirens 

Riverdale may be over following its series finale over the summer, but the ladies from the long-running show are still besties. After Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes and Madelaine Petsch channelled the Hocus Pocus witches last year, the trio went as the Gotham City Sirens this Halloween. Mendes was Catwoman, Petsch was Poison Ivy and Reinhart went for a classic Harley Quinn costume.

Not long after Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship took off, the couple inspired a meme called “ketchup and seemingly ranch” after a meal Swift was photographed eating during a Chiefs game she attended went viral. While tons of people reportedly dressed up as the couple this Halloween, Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland and husband Wells Adams thought outside the box and dressed up as the two condiments instead.  

Kelsea Ballerini as Barbie 

Anyone else surprised that literally everyone on this list didn’t go as a character from Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie? Country pop star Kelsea Ballerini wasn’t afraid to go for the most popular choice, as she went as Margot Robbie’s Stereotypical Barbie in her hot pink western outfit and absolutely slayed! She is a spitting image of the Barbie lead! 

Billie Eilish as Cat Ballou

Speaking of Western themes and Barbie, “What Was I Made For?” singer Billie Eilish stepped out on Halloween weekend as Jane Fonda’s character Cat Ballou from the 1965 movie Cat Ballou. It’s a deep cut to say the least, but Eilish absolutely killed it as the throwback outlaw character. 

Paris Hilton as Britney Spears 

Paris Hilton paid tribute to her friend Britney Spears by wearing her most famous music video looks. The pop culture sensation showed up to the 2023 Annual Casamigos Halloween Party wearing the “Toxic” getup Spears memorably wore in the 2004 music video for the hit song. She posted the look on her Instagram with the caption “in honor of our Queen.” It’s perfect timing too considering Spears’ viral memoir recently hit shelves. 

Hayley Kiyoko and Becca Tilley as Glinda and Elphaba

“Lesbian Jesus”/pop singer Hayley Kiyoko and The Bachelor’s Becca Tilley went with a classic Hollywood duo in the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch costumes. The couple clearly were having a blast embodying the Wicked women this Halloween as they shared this video of themselves in costume to the sound of “Popular.” Last year, they dressed up as Scooby Doo’s Velma and Daphne, and The Addams Family’s Morticia and Gomez Addams. 

Lizzo as Tina Turner 

Lizzo is a huge fan of Halloween, often dressing in multiple costumes in one year. So far, the “Good As Hell” singer paid tribute to the late Tina Turner, who died at the age of 83 in May. The Queen of Rock n’ Roll is undoubtedly an influence to the hitmaking artist and “bop star.” Lizzo also dressed up as Elvira on Instagram, and we wouldn’t be surprised if she throws in another costume before the end of spooky season. 

Chloe Bailey as Khaleesi 

Pop singer, actress and sister to The Little Mermaid’s Halle Bailey took inspiration from George R.R. Martin’s beloved fantasy world of Game of Thrones for her costume. Chloe looked gorgeous in an armored corset and dragon eggs as the Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi.  

Kendall Jenner as Marilyn Monroe 

Kendall Jenner went for a more simple, but certainly sweet look as the one and only Marilyn Monroe this year for Halloween. Jenner effortlessly channeled the Hollywood legend in a blonde curly wig, diamond earrings, a gorgeous face of makeup and a black turtleneck. She definitely nailed her likeness!  

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker as Beetlejuice and Lydia 

Kendall’s sister, Kourtney Kardashian went for a Halloween favorite alongside husband Travis Barker this year. The married couple went as Beetlejuice and Lydia in her iconic red bride outfit, and it’s so on point! 

Justin And Hailey Bieber as Bam Bam And Pebbles 

Another solid Halloween celebrity couples costume moment comes from the Biebers, who went as Pebbles and Bam Bam from The Flintstones. They even posed with their pups for a Halloween photoshoot, and it was too cute. 

Megan Fox And Machine Gun Kelly as Kill Bill and Death Note Characters

Lastly, Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox stepped out on social media with two incredible Halloween looks this year. First, the couple paid tribute to Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, which recently turned 20, as MGK dressed as The Bride and Fox as Gogo Yubari.

Over the past few years, Lizzo has become a global superstar, thanks to her thriving career as a pop star, as well as her documentary and acting in projects like The Mandalorian and Hustlers. But she's involved in her own controversy now, as former dancers accused Lizzo of inappropriate behavior and filed a lawsuit. And after a few days, she's offered her own official response.

Three different dancers are involved in the lawsuit against Lizzo, alleging sexual harassment, weight shaming, and more. A number of reported incidents were cited, the contents of which shocked fans. The chatter has gotten loud enough that Lizzo posted on Instagram, calling the allegations "as unbelievable as they sound." Check it out below: 

There you have it. Lizzo has denied the various reports going around about her behavior, and the incidents alleged in the viral lawsuit. It remains to be seen how things shake up within the legal system, but she's taking the time to share her perspective and thank her supporters. And interestingly enough, she left the comments section open, where plenty of people are sounding off about the controversy. 

Lizzo shared this message on Instagram to her 13.4 million followers on Instagram. She maintains that the allegations against her are false, and claiming that it was actually the former dancers' behavior that was out of line. Although she says she's not looking for sympathy or to be seen as a victim. 

Despite denying any wrongdoing, Lizzo's statement also addresses any statements made about her professionalism. She admits to being a perfectionist and making tough calls, but denies that she ever tried to make anyone feel uncomfortable. We'll have to see if her accusers respond to this latest update.  

This statement stands in juxtaposition to the picture painted by the accusers who are associated with the lawsuit against Lizzo. The suit against her and her production company was filed on August 1st by three dancers, who claimed she created a hostile working environment. There were specific incidents alleged, including a night at a strip club where Lizzo's dancers were encouraged to touch and interact with nude performers. Some claimed that they were weight-shamed by the pop star, which sounds like the opposite of her music's messaging and her public persona as a whole. And as such, these allegations quickly circulated online. 

Indeed, Lizzo's music has championed body positivity over the years. Her documentary also featured her telling her backup dancers to take up space, despite what society might have told them. Her feel-good music, paired with her talent as a musician and penchant for nerd culture like Lord of the Rings made her into a beloved public figure. It remains to be seen how this legal situation ultimately shakes out, but the allegations are quite serious. 

Lizzo has emerged as one of the premier musicians of this generation, as she’s racked up hit singles and a number of major accolades to go along with them. She’s also been steadily dipping her toes into TV and film and has appeared in some high-profile productions. A major feather in her cap has been the reality series Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, which began streaming for Amazon Prime Video subscribers in 2022. Now, however, several former dancers featured on that show are filing suit against the songstress. And they’re suing for alleged sexual harassment, assault and more. 

Three dancers filed a lawsuit early Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to Deadline. The plaintiffs in question have been identified as Noelle Rodriguez, Arianna Davis and Crystal Williams. Overall, the ladies are claiming that the Grammy winner created a “hostile work environment." The “Truth Hurts” singer – whose real name is Melissa Jefferson – was named in the suit alongside the head of her dance team, Shirlene Quigley, and Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc. A portion of the filing reads: 

The ladies claim they were subjected to body shaming and forced to attend and participate in sex shows while on tour. The suit also mentions a purported case of “false imprisonment” and alleges that criticism was aimed at a person’s virginity. Additionally, the plaintiffs claim Shrilene Quigley attempted to impose her religious beliefs on dancers. The suit further describes an “excruciating” situation that purportedly saw the women auditioning for their own jobs after being accused of drinking on the job. Said situation allegedly resulted in the women being put on “soft hold” retainers.

Discrimination claims have also been levelled at the show’s management team, which is said to be all-white. Black members of the dance team were referred to with unflattering descriptors like “lazy,” “snarky” and “unprofessional.” Per the suit, those adjectives weren’t used to describe non-Black members of the group.

Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls premiered in March 2022 and centers on a group of women who compete for the chance to become a dancer for the titular entertainer. The first season -- which was made up of eight episodes -- was praised, with critics and audiences making note of the body positive messages exuded by the star and others throughout. The show earned six nominations at the 2022 Primetime Emmys and won three, including Outstanding Competition Program. 

This latest development arrives as the performer’s notoriety continues to rise, thanks to her music and media appearances. She recently landed guest-starring roles in shows like The Mandalorian and The Simpsons, which was announced in an on-brand way. 

Lizzo herself has not directly responded to the allegations, as of this writing. This situation is just developing, and time will tell whether either side will provide further clarity regarding what allegedly happened amid production. 

Few movie franchises have been quite as monumental as the Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson’s trilogy made billions of dollars and won countless awards, and is that rare adaptation that even diehard fans of the books tend to love. And we can apparently count Lizzo among those serious fans, as she recently visited the Shire and put together some amazing TikToks of her time there.

The set for the Shire that was recreated for the Hobbit movies was left standing after production was completed, and so it still exists as a tourist attraction in New Zealand. Lizzo appears to have made a trip there and had quite the Tolkien experience, as she dressed as an elf, complete with prosthetic ears, and calling herself “Lizzolas. ” And then she performed the movie’s classic Shire theme on her recorder. The result is beautiful. 

That music and that place go together so well, that watching Lizzo play the piece on her recorder while standing in the doorway of the Baggins house is magic, one can be easily transported to the fantasy world created in the movies just by hearing it. I’m ready for the entire album of Lizzo performing the music of the Lord of the Rings on a recorder. It would be amazing.

Lizzo posted two other TikTok videos, making her own Lord of the Rings trilogy. One shows her walking through the Shire at dusk, and a third shows her getting her makeup on for the other videos. It’s all quite lovely and something that fans of Lizzo, The Lord of the Rings, and especially both, are sure to enjoy.

The comments on the video are beyond positive. Just about everybody responding to the clip is doing so in all caps because they think this is simply incredible. And that’s not that surprising. Lizzo has a massive fan base and is one of the more unique pop stars around. The fact that Lizzo has made the fact that she can play the flute and the recorder part of her pop music is certainly something we don’t see elsewhere.

Lizzo’s command performance at the Shire follows her supporting role in a Season 3 episode of The Mandalorian, which only goes to confirm that Lizzo is a massive nerd. While not everybody loved the fact that Lizzo was in Star Wars, most people were very supportive of her because she was known to be a fan. With new Lord of the Rings movies in development, maybe we'll see her appear there as well. She’s now part of Star Wars and she’s celebrating The Lord of the Rings. Before long I expect Lizzo will have made her presence felt in every major geek franchise, and that’s really not a bad thing. 

Life is brighter when there is a little color in it, and that’s especially true when that color is pink. Considering the Barbie movie is one of the more prominent releases on the 2023 film schedule, and many other trends like Y2K fashion and neon colors have been making a splash, we’ve seen a resurgence of bright pink. Well, not only am I here for it, but these celebs, including Megan Fox, Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya and more, have shown their support for Barbiecore and pink becoming the color of 2023. 

Florence Pugh 

While bright pink has been one of the big colors of 2023, it started to gain traction in 2022. One of the most prominent examples of Barbiecore from last year came when Florence Pugh rocked a bright pink sheer Valentino gown that broke the internet. Following this viral moment, the Little Women star wore the bright color on a few other occasions, and she even went on to become the face of Valentino, where she participated in an ad campaign for a gorgeous bright pink purse.  

Sydney Sweeney 

Jumping forward to this year, Sydney Sweeney rocked a Barbiecore pink jumpsuit to promote her new rom-com Anyone But You, which is set to come out in December. The velvet baby pink jumpsuit was the perfect outfit for the occasion, and the Euphoria star looked radiant in the Barbie adjacent look. Not only was it perfect to promote her rom-com, it also fit the pink trend. 

Megan Fox

Like Pugh, one of the actors who really made a splash in Barbie pink last year was Megan Fox. Both her and Machine Gun Kelly have worn pink on many occasions (as you’ll see later), however, this look was one of my favorites. In this instance, the Jennifer’s Body star went full Barbiecore in an underboob-baring outfit that included cargo pants, pink heels and a giant pink fuzzy bucket hat. Overall, it was giving Barbie, but it was also tapping into some of the hottest trends of the last few years.

 Margot Robbie And Ryan Gosling 

When the actors behind Barbie and Ken walk a red carpet, obviously they have to show up in style. When Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling rolled up to CinemaCon they wore Barbie-tastic looks that their characters would be proud of. Between the Drive star’s fuzzy pink bomber jacket and “Directed by Greta Gerwig” shirt, and the I, Tonya actor wearing a gingham set reminiscent of her character’s dress in the Barbie trailer, these two were absolutely slaying the Barbiecore look and dressing 100% on theme for their new movie.

Hailee Steinfeld 

CinemaCon 2023 really seemed like the place to be when it came to Barbiecore outfits, as Hailee Steinfeld rocked a gorgeous strapless neon pink dress to an event for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The actress, who plays Spider-Gwen among the Into the Spider-Verse sequel cast, donned a look that had the essence of her character, and contributed to the moment the color pink is having. 

Zendaya  

Queen of fashion, Zendaya has obviously played into the Barbiecore trend on multiple occasions, however, one of my favorite looks from her was when she wore a light pink Valentino gown on the carpet for the 2023 SAG Awards. She complimented the rose-covered gown with millions in bling from Bulgari, and she looked like a Barbie ready to go to a ball. 

Stephanie Hsu 

Stephanie Hsu brought Barbiecore to the Oscars as she cheered on her Everything Everywhere All at Once cast mates who won Academy Awards, and celebrated her first nomination. According to InStyle, the bright pink gown was made by Valentino, as you can see the brand also loves a Barbiecore moment, and the actress looked fabulous as she walked the white carpet in the mermaid-like, ballooning gown.

Sabrina Carpenter  

From the red carpet to street style, Barbiecore has made its mark all over the fashion industry. This has been proven by loads of A-Listers, however, one of my favorite streetwear looks came when Sabrina Carpenter rocked a pink striped tank, sheer neon pink skirt and platform baby pink heels – let’s just say she was giving Y2K Barbie. As Seventeen pointed out the singer/actress really looked like the iconic doll as she hopped between the Spotify Best New Artist event and the Stella McCartney X Adidas Party. 

Machine Gun Kelly  

Machine Gun Kelly has famously made his brand pink, I mean his Instagram handle is literally Mr. Pink, and his documentary was called Life in Pink, and those are just two examples of his love for the color. 

While MGK and Megan Fox have been in a rough patch recently, there is no doubting they are a fashion power couple, and know how to rock a pink moment. They proved this again when the rocker wore a hot pink double-breasted suit with red roses, while the actress stunned in a shiny light pink Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini evening gown, per Harper’s Bazaar, at the Good Mourning premiere.

Of course, Lizzo has also slayed the Barbie pink trend! The singer showed up to the premiere of her reality competition Watch Out For The Big Grrrls last year in this fabulous bright pink Valentino mini dress, per her Instagram. Even her pose is giving Barbie energy. Overall, this wonderful singer absolutely killed the Barbiecore vibe with all this neon pink. 

Harry Styles

Harry Styles has also embraced the Barbiecore look, especially when he headlined Coachella (and specifically on the night Lizzo was his guest). The “As It Was” singer looked absolutely amazing in his big pink fury jacket and matching metallic pants and vest. As he rocked out in the desert he had the perfect look to compliment it, and he showed us all that he really knows how to kill a pink fit. 

Jessica Chastain 

Rocking a bright pink Zuhair Murad gown to the 2023 SAG Awards, Jessica Chastain took home her award in style dressed to the nines in an elegant Barbiecore look. Women’s Wear Daily noted the gorgeous off-the-shoulder gown and the Gucci jewels she complimented the dress with. Overall, it was an ensemble that tapped into the opulence of the awards, while also playing into the Barbie pink trend.

As you can see, these celebs have all had completely different takes on Barbiecore, and have rocked pink in so many fun and new ways. So, as Barbie’s release date gets closer (mark your calendars for July 21) I’m positive we’ll have even more fabulous pink looks from more celebs.

Even though every season of The Mandalorian has one large story arc that connects the episodes, the Star Wars series that’s available with your Disney+ subscription usually is good for a standalone episode crammed with Star Wars weirdness, allowing the creators the chance to flex some of their creativity and keep the audience entertained. And that best describes episode 6 of Season 3 of The Mandalorian, which detoured to the planet Plazir-15, that is lorded over by a pair of A+ cameos in the form of Jack Black and Lizzo. Cameos are nothing new to The Mandalorian. In fact, in that very same episode, Back to the Future royalty Christoper Lloyd appeared as head of the planetary security office. But how do these celebrities get the chance to appear in a Mandalorian episode? 

During the recent Star Wars Celebration held on the outskirts of London, CinemaBlend got the opportunity to speak with Jon Favreau, the driving force behind The Mandalorian. And while he did not direct this recent episode of the Disney+ series, he gave us some backstory as to how Jack Black and Lizzo ended up playing Captain Bombardier and the Duchess in the episode now known as “Guns for Hire.” The way that Favreau explained it to us:

Sometimes that’s all it takes, friends. Post your love for Star Wars on social media, and writer/director/producer Jon Favreau may ring you up for a guest spot on a future episode. It’s just that simple. There’s a running joke that several of the Mandalorian episodes follow a very basic formula where Mando (Pedro Pascal) arrives at a foreign destination, needs to complete a mission, but can’t acquire the thing he needs until he helps the locals with a problem. That’s very much the structure of Jack Black and Lizzo’s episode, so it fits snuggly into the format of a traditional Mandalorian season. 

There was backlash online following the issue dropping on Disney+, where one “fan” took issue with the celebrity casting of Jack Black and Lizzo, claiming that this was a jump the shark moment that somehow meant Star Wars no longer was for nerds. My friend, have you listened to Tenacious D? Black might be the nerdiest celebrity on this or any other planet. Just look at my guy J.B. in the viral Star Wars tiktok that helped him land the role!

Naturally, that level of fandom gatekeeping didn’t stand in the Star Wars universe, and hopefully now Favreau’s explanation of the duo’s casting BECAUSE of their fandom will change the narrative. There are numerous upcoming Star Wars projects in the pipeline, and countless celebrities who grew up worshipping this galaxy that’s located far, far away. So it’s better to learn who’s a real fan, before you start labeling famous faces, or claiming Star Wars isn’t for nerds anymore.  

If the last few years have shown us anything it’s that Star Wars is a divisive subject that brings out a lot of passionate feelings. People have very specific ideas about what the franchise should be, and when a movie or TV show comes along that challenges those ideas, people get angry. Just ask Jack Black and Lizzo.

A new episode of The Mandalorian is always something that’s going to get people talking but the thing that blew up the internet last week was the surprise appearance of Lizzo and Jack Black in cameos. Two major celebrities appearing in the show absolutely set off one fan on Twitter who felt their appearance meant that Star Wars “wasn’t for us nerds” anymore. The comment has gone viral. 

The tweet has received a fair number of likes and retweets, which would seem to indicate that many people felt the same way. However, it’s also received a lot of replies and quotes tweets that are absolutely roasting the initial poster, mostly because, while Lizzo and Jack Black may be famous, nobody should ever confuse them with having been the “cool kids” in high school, as one person put it…

While there are certainly a lot of people today who think that Lizzo is one of the coolest people around, that’s largely because of the way she has built her musical career despite the fact that she had a lot of things stacked against her. Lizzo struggled a lot before her success. She was a literal band geek after all. As another response pointed out, it’s difficult to see these two as high school bullies…

In fact, quite the opposite would seem to be the case. Lizzo has spoken about being bullied in school for not aligning with the mainstream and the world has seen her get bullied on social media in the modern day for all sorts of things. 

Of course, there were still plenty of people who didn’t like The Mandalorian cameos for one reason or another. Maybe it was just a case of seeing a celebrity on the screen. Many of the cameos we’ve seen in Star Wars have been people in Stormtrooper helmets or voicing CGI aliens, so we didn’t always recognize them, but that wasn’t the case here, with one viewer simply saying…

Another replied to the original negative tweet saying…

But in the end, it is, of course, Lizzo who gets the last word. Since the original tweet went viral, she saw it, and while she doesn’t reference it directly, she claps back at the haters pointing out that she was bullied in school, but if people think the opposite, she’s clearly doing something right…

Lizzo certainly isn't getting too upset that people are giving her a hard time over all this. It's like maybe she's had to dealt with this before.

The Mandalorian Season 3 has taken a number of interesting turns thus far and, as it hurdles towards its conclusion, some (like myself) are still wondering what the endgame is. Even still, many seem quite pleased with the stories that have been told over the past several weeks. During that time, the show has gifted fans with a few notable guest stars, but this latest episode really delivered in that regard. The Star Wars series just welcomed some major celebrities to the galaxy far, far away, and the Internet is loving them.

“Chapter 22: Guns for Hire” sees Bo-Katan – accompanied by Din Djarin and Grogu – embarking on her quest to recruit other Mando factions. (That development cropped up last week and really ups the ante for Bo, Din and their clan.) This journey brings them to the independent and democratic planet of Plazir-15. The serene location is quite delightful and is fittingly run by the jovial Captain Bombardier and the Duchess. And those two rulers are played by none other than Jack Black and Lizzo! Yep, you read that right, and fans on Twitter can’t seem to contain their excitement: 

I honestly never imagined that Lizzo and Jack Black would end up joining the Star Wars universe at some point, but I’m not mad at it! And if that weren’t crazy enough, the episode featured another marquee actor, one who’s delighted audiences for years. I’m talking about the great Christopher Lloyd, who appeared as Commissioner Helgait – head of planetary Security Office. It was reported over a year ago that Lloyd had been tapped for an undisclosed role, leading to speculation on the fanbase’s part. Chances are not everyone was in the know, however, and it looks like those who weren’t are shocked that the Back to the Future icon popped up:

Since its debut, The Mandalorian has recruited plenty of formidable stars, from Ming-Na Wen (who’s since starred on The Bad Batch and Book of Boba Fett) to Timothy Olyphant, who also joined Fett’s spinoff. I personally still can’t believe that Bill Burr – complete with his Boston accent – also appeared. So if anything, this latest installment just continues the tradition of bringing surprising faces into the fold. And most fans seem to agree that this latest batch of talent is indeed shocking:

It’s difficult to resist the charms of these particular stars, and it goes without saying that all three have built up their own distinct and passionate fanbases. Keeping that in mind, even the most jaded of franchise devotees are pleased with these guest appearances. One particular user shared blunt thoughts while praising one actor in particular: 

There was another familiar face to show up on this latest episode, too, and it was wrestler and Star Wars fangirl Sasha Banks (who now goes by Mercedes Mone in the ring). A fan appeared to be overwhelmed by the notion of her name appearing alongside the others during the closing credits:

All in all, these were welcomed surprises in what’s arguably one of The Mandalorian’s quirkier installments. It also serves as a major feather in the caps of Jack Black, Christopher Lloyd and Lizzo. There are only two episodes left in this season, and more guests could drop in before it’s all said and done. However, topping these three would be a tall order, for sure.

Simpsons fanatics come from every lifestyle, including celebrities. Multiple celebs have paid homage to the longest-running animated series in various ways, and now one of those celebrity fans, multi-Grammy winner Lizzo will make her mark on Springfield. It seems like almost every celebrity who is a fan of the show dreams of ending up on it, and some stars achieve that goal.  Now, Lizzo, who has been a fan of the show for some time now, has added her name to the list of guest stars, and of course, she did it in the most Lizzo way possible.

The multi-Grammy winner couldn’t hold back her excitement as she hopped on her Twitter account to share the news. The longtime Simpsons fan unveiled what she’ll look like as she joins the citizens of Springfield (Yitty-inspired ensemble included). Of course, in true Lizzo fashion, the entertainer had to throw the word "bitch" at the end to add some on-brand flare to the announcement. Of course, Lizzo couldn’t celebrate her animated TV debut without saying the b-word. Using the word is the rapper-singer’s usual term of endearment toward her friends and fans. So, this was just her way of letting her fans know her Simpsons dreams are coming true. However, the music star looks like she’ll fit in perfectly with the Springfield crowd as her animated self resembles her without sacrificing the show’s style. Sporting the two-piece ensemble was the perfect tie-in to make viewers aware of her fashion brand Yitty. A win-win for all.

Lizzo's been open about her love for the long-running animated sitcom for a while now. She just let her Simpsons fan flag fly when she dressed as Simpsons matriarch Marge for Halloween last year following her epic Baby Yoda costume. Lizzo didn’t just wear a store-bought costume, she went full Marge with a green dress, red pearl necklace, and signature blue beehive. You can check out her transformation into the iconic animated TV housewife in her Instagram post below.

As seen in the clip, she became Marge Simpson with yellow skin to match. The pop star was all about bringing the Simpsons matriarch to the real world. However, Lizzo didn’t just pay homage to one animated TV classic but two as she used audio from Family Guy’s Lois Griffin to recreate the iconic moment where she catches Peter in bed with her mother. She gave the world the Simpsons-Family Guy mash-up they didn’t know they needed. Of course, both animated families have come together previously through the Simpsons-Family Guy crossover episode “The Simpsons Guy,” and if they ever do that again, maybe Lizzo could be involved.

The Grammy winner will appear in the Season 34 finale, which will air in May. Compared to past guest stars, Lizzo will be pulling double duty in her The Simpsons debut, according to EW. She will not only play herself but voice an elf doll that magically comes to life following an accident involving family breadwinner Homer. Her elf character will serve as a guide for him as he looks back on his life. On the other side, animated Lizzo will have a jam session with Lisa Simpson during the season finale.

It is currently unknown when the Season 34 finale will air in May. “Cancel culture” may have started out with the intention of ensuring that people were held accountable for offensive actions or behavior, but the practice of “canceling” someone has always been a controversial one. This has seemingly been particularly true for celebrities, many of whom have lost jobs and income as a result of such displays of public outcry. Despite if or how they’ve been affected by cancel culture, a number of famous faces, including Kevin Hart, Kim Kardashian, Lizzo and Johnny Depp have used their respective platforms to share their views on the phenomenon.

While social media has been a huge tool for putting certain behaviors on display in the court of public opinion, it’s also been helpful in continuing the dialogue about what we’re trying to accomplish in doing so. Over the years, the effectiveness of “canceling” people has often been called into question, and everyone’s got an opinion about what cancel culture means in regards to free speech and censorship. Celebrities in all corners of the entertainment world have spoken out, so let’s take a look at what some of them have said about cancel culture.

Lizzo

Lizzo seemingly needed no reason to speak her mind on cancel culture early in 2023. The self-love-promoting singer took to Twitter to share why she thinks the practice has become “misused and misdirected.” Her full statement: 

Many of the commenters agreed, saying the focus should be put back on accountability. 

Joe Rogan

It wasn’t just Joe Rogan who experienced backlash in February 2022, but Spotify as well, when the UFC commentator and TV personality was accused of spreading misinformation about COVID-19 and the vaccine, as well as using a racial slur in multiple episodes of his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience. Rogan said the efforts to cancel him backfired, telling British pundit Douglas Murray (per the NY Post): 

Spotify does not disclose its podcasts’ subscriber numbers but THR sources said Joe Rogan’s show has had steadily increasing numbers but didn’t spike due to any one event. 

Kevin Hart

Kevin Hart spoke about cancel culture in 2021, noting how he thinks things have gone too far, but he agrees that there should be consequences to people who inflict real damage. In his words: 

The Hart to Heart host was the subject of controversy in 2018, when old tweets resurfaced with homophobic language, causing Kevin Hart to step down as host of the 2019 Academy Awards. When he spoke on the subject in 2021, he said people need to be allowed to learn from their mistakes. He continued: 

The assertion that people aren't going to be perfect and need to be allowed to make mistakes seems to be one commonly made.

David Spade

Famed Saturday Night Live comedian David Spade opened up in 2022 about his thoughts on comedy in the age of cancel culture, saying: 

David Spade admitted he’s not typically one who “starts a lot of shit” with his own comedy. 

Ricky Gervais

British comedian Ricky Gervais shared a similar opinion back in a 2020 interview with Metro. As a comedian who does stir the pot a bit more, it's no surprise he's commented on the phenomenon, noting that everyone has a different idea of what cancel culture means, and some people take it too far. The Office star said:  

He said everyone doesn’t have to agree with everyone else, but people who think others don’t have the right to say something they don’t agree with are opposing free speech. 

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against Amber Heard was one of the biggest pop culture moments of 2022, and in the midst of his legal battle, he issued a warning about cancel culture, saying: 

Johnny Depp was forced to step down from the Fantastic Beasts franchise amongst abuse accusations in the years-long legal battle with his ex-wife. 

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian has had her share of scandals over the years, but in 2021 she called cancel culture “ridiculous,” telling the podcast Honesty (per People): 

She went on to say that if we cancel someone for past behavior, we’re “not inviting them into the conversation to really understand.” 

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone didn’t mince words when discussing cancel culture on the Just Jenny podcast in 2021. She called it the “stupidest thing I have ever seen,” pointing out that we can all grow from listening to different perspectives. The actress said: 

She further implored people to “stop being so small” and “grow some empathy.” 

Megan Fox

Megan Fox has spoken about being “objectified” in certain jobs during her career, but when fans went after director Michael Bay in 2020, the actress defended the Transformers director and publicly stated her distaste for canceling people: 

The actress appeared to note her fans’ good intentions, but didn’t want the director to face consequences for something he didn’t do. 

Bryan Cranston

In January 2021, Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston appealed for more forgiveness in the world and less canceling, telling the AP: 

He implored people to remember that asking for forgiveness is a human strength, not a weakness. 

Rowan Atkinson

Mr. Bean actor Rowan Atkinson blamed social media for today’s society of “us vs. them” mentality, telling the Radio Times (via Deadline) in 2021: 

He said that thought fills him with fear about the future. 

Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin shared his thoughts on cancel culture in a lengthy video on Instagram, saying the situation was getting out of hand. While he admitted there are people who deserve to be punished, we shouldn’t punish everyone the same way, pointing out that “even the criminal justice system recognizes that.” He continued: 

He seemed to fall in line with a number of other celebrities who said people who get “canceled” don’t deserve to have their whole lives ruined. 

Kelly Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne shared her 2 cents on the phenomenon in 2021, after her mother Sharon Osbourne parted ways with The Talk following allegations of racism. Kelly said: 

Ozzy Osbourne’s younger daughter pointed out that nobody feels like they can make a mistake because of what the online chatter might do to their careers and lives. 

Phillipa Soo

Rather than expressing her opinion about cancel culture, Hamilton actress Phillipa Soo shared her advice for those who have been “canceled,” imploring them to listen to what is being said and learn from the experience. She said on Twitter: 

In the opinion of many celebrities, it seems cancel culture may not be achieving the desired outcome in holding people accountable for offensive actions and statements. Hopefully we can continue figuring out the appropriate action to take to effect real change, and it seems many celebrities think that listening to each other and acknowledging that people make mistakes is one step in the right direction. 

While millions of people know Lizzo as a multi-talented performer who’s also a Chris Evans loving beacon of light who regularly speaks about body positivity and does a great job at predicting Love Is Blind spoilers, throughout her seemingly quick rise to fame she’s also been quite open about the tough times she had while becoming the artist we all love and know her to be. Many of flutist’s fans likely know that she was homeless for some time while working her way to the top of the charts, and now she’s opened up about buying a mansion a decade after that difficult period.

What Did Lizzo Say About Buying Her Mansion After Experiencing Homelessness?

The extremely popular “About Damn Time” singer (who’s already halfway to an EGOT) has been open about many things, from recently revealing her Grinchy nature about the holidays to being honest about her struggles with loving herself and telling off body shamers in viral TikTok posts. Now, during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, she’s spoken about finally owning her own home after experiencing homelessness and having to sleep in her car several years ago, and said:

In her documentary, Love, Lizzo (which those with an HBO Max subscription can watch), she talked about the “trauma” of the hard times, and how she’s lately been having a “full-circle moment” because of having bought her home. The “Good as Hell” songstress noted that it was just a few years ago that she was finally able to upgrade to her own apartment, eventually renting a home by December 2019, but owning a house makes her feel like she’s “really being a grown-up” and that “actually feeling safe in the space that I'm occupying” is “a big deal” for her, as it would be for most of us.

For those who are wondering about this house that’s given Lizzo so much joy, according to Harper’s Bazaar Australia it’s a $24 million mid-century modern property located in Beverly Hills, California which covers about 5,274 square feet and was recently renovated. It’s described as being a “treehouse,” seeing as how it opens to the canyon that’s below it, and has three bedrooms, lots of floor to ceiling windows, a pool and quite a bit of outdoor living space, a soundproof media room, and several more features and amenities. 

Even without her new home being as fancy as it is, anyone can see how the Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls producer would find ultimate comfort and joy at finally having her own spot to call home after surviving some very tough times.

Ever since the release of her third album, Cuz I Love You, Lizzo has been unapologetically living her best life as a Grammy winner, game show host, and Instagram baddie. But she’s also an outspoken advocate for feeling good in your own body.

Let’s talk about how Lizzo and these eight other celebrities are contributing to the body positivity movement in big ways.

Lizzo

Not only does Lizzo talk the talk when it comes to body positivity, she walks the walk: within the past year she launched her size-inclusive shapewear/activewear line, Yitty, which includes sizes XS to 6X. But, she also embarked on a quest to find back up dancers that evolved into a revolutionized approach to competition game shows. The heart, kindness, and girl-on-girl support in Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls surprised critics and even won an Emmy for outstanding competition series.

Lizzo’s discography is also full of self-love anthems, including her Grammy-nominated single “About Damn Time.”

Brendan Fraser

Critics were quick to judge Brendan Fraser’s body when he returned from an acting hiatus this year, but The Mummy star also received backlash for donning a fatsuit for his role in the recently released 2022 movie, The Whale. In response, Fraser spoke candidly about his own experiences with weight in a Newsweek interview:

Fraser worked closely with the Obesity Action Coalition, as detailed to Vanity Fair, to prepare for the role of a 600-pound man named Charlie in The Whale, working to portray the character in a respectful and knowledgeable way. 

Fraser also recently spoke out against the insane diet he was put through for his 1997 role in George of the Jungle during a Variety interview, saying his brain was literally “misfiring” from lack of nutrition.

I’m so glad to see Fraser return to the screen this year, but I’m even more glad he’s speaking out about the ways beauty standards in the movie industry have messed with his health.

Jameela Jamil

Jameela Jamil first came out as a critic of “diet culture” when she saw press material of herself for The Good Place and barely recognized the highly-edited photograph. In the years since, Jamil has taken a stand by refusing to allow publications to edit her photos.

Jamil has also been known to take to Twitter to call out celebs who promote unhealthy body images—for example, she’s called out more than one member of the Kardashian family for promoting detox supplements and using disparaging language about losing weight.

Serena Williams

It’s hard to imagine anyone hating on legendary tennis athlete Serena Williams, but even champions have to deal with societal pressures to look or act a certain way. 

In addition to the struggles she faces as a woman of color in a male-dominated field, Williams has also been criticized for looking “too muscular,” but comments like this don't phase her. She had this to say in an interview with Vogue UK:

Williams continues to be an advocate for loving your body and appreciating all that it’s capable of. After all, it’s Williams’ strength and so-called “big arms” that made her the greatest tennis player of all time.

Jonathan Van Ness

Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness took to Instagram and Tik Tok earlier this year to share their “wellness journey.” They had this to say about people commenting on their weight change:

Since sharing the video, JVN has continued sharing updates about their physical transformation as they train in gymnastics. We love Jonathan Van Ness for reminding us that weight loss is not the overall goal of health and physical fitness.

Laverne Cox

Trans model, actress, and activist Laverne Cox says she used to hide the things that made her “trans,” but now she’s learned to love and accept her body despite not fitting into Hollywood’s narrow beauty standards. Cox shared her thoughts on passing at the Daily Front Row’s Fashion Media Awards (via Page Six) in 2015:

Perhaps most importantly, Cox also addresses her privilege as a person of wealth with access to products and treatments that the average person does not.

Demi Lovato

Having grown up in the spotlight, much of Demi Lovato’s personal life has been the topic of celeb gossip. However, the former Disney channel star has learned to be very open with the public about her struggles with body image.

Lovato previously shared with fans that she had recovered from an eating disorder by devoting herself to exercise. Years later, Lovato shared with fans that her workout habits had turned into an exercise addiction.

I respect Lovato so much for not only speaking out about her history with eating disorders, but speaking out again when she realized her healing journey wasn’t complete. She’s also a big advocate for “body neutrality,” which she summarized in a 2019 interview with Teen Vogue:

Shout out to Lovato for keeping it real and honest when it comes to her healing.

Sam Smith

“Unholy” singer Sam Smith has become a role model for body positivity by sharing uplifting posts to Instagram, starting with a vacation pic where they encouraged followers to let nothing stop them from feeling the sun on their skin:

Smith has since become a champion of loving our “fluctuating bodies,” sharing that body image issues are especially difficult for them during the holiday season. The singer had this to say on Instagram (via NME) about loving yourself despite of the number on the scale:

“You aren’t alone” is my favorite part of the post.

Nicole Byer

Whether you know Byer from her current gig as the host of Nailed It! on Netflix or from the earlier days of her career as a correspondent on MTV’s Girl Code, the comedian and actress has always been outspoken about feeling beautiful, sexy, and attractive despite being fat. In response to haters, Byer began captioning her social media photos with “#VERYFAT” and “#VERYBRAVE” to reclaim the hashtags from internet trolls.

#VERYFAT, #VERYBRAVE turned into a tongue-in-cheek movement for women who want critics to know that their weight does not cancel out their beauty. Byer even wrote a book with a title inspired by the hashtags, appropriately called “#VERYFAT #VERYBRAVE: The Fat Girl’s Guide to Being #Brave and Not a Dejected, Melancholy, Down-in-the-Dumps Weeping Fat Girl in a Bikini.”

Basically, Byer wants you to know that she’s hot AND she’s big—the two are not mutually exclusive.

Shoutout to these celebs and many others who are contributing every day to the body positivity movement.

A few times per season, Saturday Night Live picks someone to be both the host and musical guest of a given episode, and let me tell you, whenever they do this I always know we’re in for a wild ride. Some of my all-time favorite hosts of the NBC sketch show have been those who take on double duty. I think musicians thrive on SNL because they are able to use their stage presence and experience performing live to their advantage and charm the audience during both the sketches and the musical portions of the show. 

While there are many musicians that haven’t done double duty yet, there are many who have, and who should 100% do it again. So, here’s a list of ten musicians we’d love to see return as both hosts and musical guests on Saturday Night Live. 

Justin Timberlake 

I feel like at this point, it’s just commonly understood that Justin Timberlake is one of the best SNL hosts of all time. The popstar and former NSYNC member has proven this simply by the number of times he’s been asked back to Saturday Night Live (I mean he is a member of the exclusive five-timers club). 

He’s been also in some of the most classic sketches of the last 20 years, in my opinion. Two of his best sketches have been staples in the SNL primetime Christmas special for years now. One is "Bring it on Down to Wrappinville," where Timberlake gets into the holiday spirit with his pal Jimmy Fallon while rapping dressed as gift wrap. His other classic holiday sketch comes by way of an SNL Digital Short with Andy Samberg, hilariously titled “Dick in a Box.” This song was one of the first times I saw Samberg’s musical talents, and Timberlake’s silky vocals just added to the quality production and absurd lyrics of the now classic holiday song.

So, even though the “Sexy Back” singer has helmed SNL many, many times, another go around would be more than welcome. 

Donald Glover/Childish Gambino 

Donald Glover is quite possibly the perfect person to be both the host and musical guest. Not only is Glover a legendary comedic actor because of his work on Community and his own show, Atlanta, he’s also an accomplished musician who goes by the name Childish Gambino. It’s honestly kind of hard for me to believe that Glover has only hosted SNL once, but that one time was iconic.

Throughout Glover’s whole episode he showed that he would be a perfectly capable full-time cast member (fun fact, he actually did audition but didn’t make the cut) on SNL. If you haven’t seen any of Glover’s iconic sketches, do yourself a favor and either watch the Jurassic World “Courtroom” sketch or the “Barbie Instagram” sketch and you’ll immediately be hoping that the Community star comes back to SNL ASAP. 

Ariana Grande 

While most people connect Ariana Grande to SNL because of her ex, Pete Davidson, let us not forget the comedic genius she brought to the show. Over the years the “thank u, next” singer has brought her pipes to the SNL stage, but in 2019 she got to show off her acting skills and absolutely wow the crowd with her impressions. 

On both SNL and The Tonight Show, Grande has impersonated pop queens like Cher, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Her singing impressions have become so well known, Celine Dion herself even reacted to the Sweetener singer’s impression of her. And she doesn’t just do singing impressions, she also impersonates actors like Jennifer Lawrence, and she has played hilarious original characters as well.

With Grande playing a massive role in Wicked, she’ll hopefully be back to host and sing a few songs, too, on the classic comedy show sometime soon. 

Billie Eilish 

Now let’s talk about someone who recently hosted SNL. I remember being shocked when I learned the young pop sensation Billie Eilish would be doing double duty as part of SNL’s 47th Season. For an artist who, up until that moment, was known for her deep and dark music I was curious to see how she’d do on the show, and she absolutely killed it. 

I always find it incredibly endearing when people on SNL break. Eilish was trying so hard to not crack up throughout her episode, especially when she was sharing the screen with Kate McKinnon, like in the “Hotel Ad” sketch. 

Eilish is also an incredibly talented musician (I mean she’s won so many Grammys, and an Oscar) so it’s always a treat whenever she comes on to perform her music. Hopefully, she’ll come back soon, because she’s on the list of hosts who aren’t actors who absolutely nailed the gig. 

Jack Harlow 

Talk about coming out of left field. Jack Harlow wasn’t even on my radar as someone who would thrive hosting SNL, but he did and I really hope he comes back soon. I remember watching his first ad, and his hilarious Halloween joke made me realize he was born to host and bring the music to Studio 8H.

One of his best sketches was “AA Meeting” where the rapper played a man in AA who decided to pitch his animated movie about luggage to the group instead of talking about his addiction. It’s a hilarious sketch that showed off Harlow’s ability to commit to a bit, which is something he did fearlessly throughout the episode. 

So, on top of Harlow’s impeccable ability to create amazing live renditions of his songs, his comedic timing makes him perfect to do double duty again. 

Lizzo 

Lizzo’s charisma and sense of humor bring me so much joy, and to see her bring that to the SNL stage in Season 47 of SNL was an absolute delight. Watching her episode you could just tell she was having the time of her life, and it was an added bonus that we not only got her as host, but we also got to see her perform a few of her best songs live.

One of my favorite things about musicians doing double duty is when the cast and writers use the host’s musical abilities to their advantage. For example, it’s not every day you get a host who can masterfully play the flute. Naturally, they used Lizzo’s skills as a flutist and dancer to create one of my favorite sketches where she tries to join an “Orchestra” but can’t play her instrument unless she’s twerking. 

Even though Lizzo admitted she was nervous to host, I thought she was a natural and 100% original, which is why I really hope she returns to the SNL stage soon. 

Chance The Rapper 

“Let’s do that hockey,” is one of my favorite lines to come out of SNL in recent years. Chance the Rapper was playing a basketball announcer who was forced to cover a hockey game, and he had absolutely no idea what was going on. His comedic timing was impeccable, and I’d love to see the rapper reprise his role as the clueless sports announcer sometime soon. 

On top of the aforementioned sketch, Chance the Rapper also starred in other hilarious sketches like “Judge Barry” where he played a judge who only takes ten seconds to make a verdict, and “Spooky Song,” where the musician played a ghost who is forced to rap about the embarrassing way he died. 

Here’s hoping that the next time Chance the Rapper releases more music, he comes back to do double duty on SNL. 

Harry Styles 

Harry Styles has been the musical guest on SNL a whopping five times, both with One Direction and solo, but he’s only hosted once. In many of these cases, even though he wasn’t hosting, he would always pop up in a sketch or two and absolutely kill, for example, like in Paul Rudd’s Once Direction sketch that's so iconic. Then in 2019, when Fine Line came out he hosted and provided the tunes for the night, he did such a good job. 

The “As It Was” singer has one of my all-time favorite monologues, where he brings his charisma from his tour to the SNL stage to mess with the crowd, play some music, and make everybody swoon. 

Hopefully, with Harry’s House still being a relatively new album and his flourishing acting career, Styles will be back to host SNL and rock the audience's socks off for a sixth time. 

Taylor Swift 

While Swift made an appearance in Season 47 to play the 10-minute version of “All Too Well,” she hasn’t hosted since 2009, so I think it’s safe to say she’s on a short list of hosts we’d love to see on SNL again soon. What further proved the need for her to come back was when she was featured in a Please Don’t Destroy sketch last year where she and Pete Davidson roast the “Three Sad Virgins.” 

Over the years Swift has appeared in many different movies, and she has created fun music videos that show off her sense of humor for many of her singles. Since it’s been over ten years since the last time she hosted, she has a whole arsenal of new music and stories to pull from for sketches and I just know they’d be amazing. 

Bruno Mars 

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen Bruno Mars on SNL. The Silk Sonic member appeared as a musical guest and host back in 2013. And he absolutely killed it, between his musical monologue, digital shorts like “Sad Mouse,” and the cameo-filled sketch, “The Maryville Brothers: Haunted Castle."

He’s also one of my all-time favorite musicians to watch live. Seeing him and his band dance on stage is so fun, and he always gives a performance that makes you want to stand up and clap at the end. His on-stage charisma definitely rubbed off on his performances throughout the sketches, and I’d love to see him helm the show, while also performing a couple of bops again. 

Hopefully, we’ll get a few more double-duty hosts during Season 48, and who knows, maybe one of these ten will come back to the show. The holidays are a time for celebration, and whether you’re someone scouring the television for all the best Christmas movies or you just like to dress up and look festive, you’re doing your part to keep the holidays fun (and hopefully a little off-kilter). Lizzo is one celebrity who is absolutely killing it in the latter category, as she took to the internet sporting a look that, in her words, proved she’s “100% that Grinch.” 

Move over Jim Carrey and Benedict Cumberbatch because the mean and green queen has come to claim her crown. Lizzo posted a video on TikTok decked out in all green with some gold chains strapped to her body. Check out the video below, which shows Lizzo in some very Grinch-y attire.

Listen, I’m not sure Lizzo is a shoo-in for the most accurate looking depiction of the Grinch, but c’mon, no previous Grinch is going to be able to twerk with such proficiency. OK, so maybe it’s more accurate to say the look is “Grinch-inspired” since Lizzo is mainly just rocking the color scheme here, and crushing it, I might add. 

Lizzo shared an alternate look at the outfit on her Instagram. Take a look at the video below, which she captioned with “100% that Grinch," perfect in so many ways.

For the record, the song Lizzo is dancing to is not her own, but a song called “Mrs. Grinch” by Shelby Swain. Swain, who is also a celebrity hairstylist who worked on Lizzo’s hair seen in the videos above, popped up in the comments to show some love for the “About Damn Time” singer: 

For those wondering why Lizzo is all green for the holiday season, this is one of the outfits she wore recently for the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden. During the holiday-themed event, Lizzo first took to the stage as Mrs. Claus, someone more closely associated with heartwarming Christmas movies and good holiday vibes. Lizzo then made the grand reveal of her Grinch costume, which she hid behind her red overcoat: 

That’s quite a look, and it’s a shame there are only so many weeks left in the holiday season! I’m down with seeing Lizzo do a full Grinch World Tour, but alas, Christmas only comes once a year. Plus, it’s not like she doesn’t have many other awesome ideas for her shows, some of which may or may not revolve around Chris Evans. Perhaps it’s best to just let Lizzo work with whatever the vibes are, depending on the situation, even if she makes a really cool Grinch.

Lizzo is currently doing it all. The “About Damn Time” singer released her chart-topping fourth studio album, Special, over the summer and has been touring her new music (and performing alongside Chris Evans cutouts), but that’s far from all of it. This year alone, she also hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time, got herself halfway to EGOT status, launched her shapewear brand, Yitty, and now has an HBO documentary called Love, Lizzo, which tracks her journey to fame. As the honest release tells it, the entertainer didn't find fame easily and, along the way, she slept in her car and experienced some "traumatic" moments.

In Love, Lizzo, which is now streamable with an HBO Max subscription, the singer and rapper recalls a time when she was couch surfing and oftentimes, sleeping in her car, even during one Thanksgiving holiday. When the Grammy winner recently looked back at that very different time in her life, she spoke to what all of the hardships mean to her now. She said this: 

During her interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lizzo noted that those times in her life were really traumatic for her but also helped lead her to the success that she has today. This year, the star celebrates Thanksgiving in her own house, which is reportedly worth $24 million. Per Harper’s Bazaar, the Los Angeles home formerly belonged to Harry Styles, who the pop star is friendly with. Though the Watch Out for the Big Grrrls producer would neither confirm nor deny her abode's connection to Styles while talking to EW.

But she did share that just a few years ago she lived in a smaller space than she does now, as she previously rented a small apartment before renting a home for some time. As the “Good As Hell” artist now reportedly reps a net worth of $12 million, she had to level up a lot in life to get where she is. 

Lizzo has been pursuing music her whole life, picking up a flute in fifth grade and playing the instrument in her high school marching band. When she was a teen, she and her friends also had a musical group called the Cornrow Clique. While attending college at the University of Houston, she studied classical music, with a concentration on flute, per Biography.  

During her early ‘20s, the fashion mogul decided to drop out of college to focus on breaking into the music industry. At that time, she lived in her car in Houston and oftentimes showered at the gym. All the while, her family, who had relocated to Denver at the time, had a tragedy befall them when her father died. By her mid-twenties, she began recording albums and in 2019 she had her massive viral moment that made her the globally known pop star she is now. The road has definitely been rough for her but, as a result, her come-up in the entertainment industry has been all the more satisfying.

Love Is Blind Season 3 came to a rousing end last week, and while every Netflix subscriber who watched had loads of questions during the season, as well as a number of strong feelings and deep thoughts about this season’s #PodSquad, we can also count hit-maker Lizzo among our number. The “About Damn Time” singer is no stranger when it comes to taking to social media to share her opinions on a number of topics, and as a fan of the reality dating show, she did the same with LIB, and not only did she accurately predict some spoilers, but the artist also had some choice nicknames for Bartise.

What Love Is Blind Spoilers Did Lizzo Correctly Predict?

LIB never disappoints when it comes to getting and keeping fans talking about all of the heartbreaks, inspiring love stories, devastating arguments, and villainous activities of the cast members during every season. So, it’s no shock that her post went viral when Lizzo decided to take to TikTok with some of her thoughts and predictions about where the Season 3 couples would end up. In her short video, she said:

Well! Look at Lizzo correctly guessing the outcome for two of the couples! Now, while the possibility of rich girl Alexa and country boy Brennon making it all the way through their I dos did seem incredibly likely from early on (We never even saw them argue!), the same cannot be said about Zanab and her fiancé, Cole. 

Though those two connected in the pods enough for Cole to propose, they were instantly very awkward around one another when it came time for the cast trip to Malibu. And things went from meh to much worse when Cole had a very inappropriate conversation with the other woman he was serious about in the pods, Colleen. 

That led to a number of arguments, but also lots of times where it seemed like they were more or less on the same page, so accurately predicting who was going to say what was difficult, even when we also saw more than one instance of Cole definitely saying things to Zanab that he shouldn’t have. Later, she told him at the altar that he “single-handedly shattered my self-confidence” in one of the biggest moments from the finale and reunion special, so the classically trained flutist is clearly good at reading complex romantic situations.

What Did Lizzo Say About Love Is Blind’s Bartise?

I’m sure many viewers have lots to say about Bartise and how he treated Nancy during (and after) their relationship, and the musician is no different. Even though the man himself came out while the show was airing to call himself out for being romantically messy, the “Good as Hell” songstress let her displeasure with him be shown by refusing to use his actual name and instead referring to him by a number of choice nicknames, including Barista, Bartleby, and my personal favorite, Bartholomule. Sure, she may have just mispronounced Bartholomew in her rush to talk some shit about Bartise, but I prefer to think she knew exactly what she was doing.

Love Is Blind is over for now, and not only can you re-watch all three seasons on Netflix, but there are also two international versions of the show ready for you, as well. Plus, we know that Seasons 4 and 5 are coming along at some point in the future!

Kanye West has no problem voicing his opinion, regardless of (or especially if) it’s an unpopular one. He’s spoken out about his co-parenting issues with Kim Kardashian, his business dealings with Gap and Adidas, and he upset a lot of fellow celebrities when he mocked Vogue fashion editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, to say nothing of the ongoing outrage angled against his allegedly anti-Semitic comments. The rapper also took aim at Lizzo during an interview on Fox News, in which he called her weight “demonic,” inspiring the “Good as Hell” singer to seemingly make her feelings known on the situation during a concert in Toronto.

During the October 7 stop in Toronto, as part of her “The Special Tour,” Lizzo appeared to make reference to Kanye West’s interview on Tucker Carlson Tonight from the night before. She told the Canadian crowd (via TMZ): 

It should come as a surprise to no one that the talented singer — who is halfway to an EGOT after her recent Emmy win for Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls — is taking the high road against the hate by not clapping back or naming names. She did, however, joke that she’d be willing to get married for dual citizenship so she could stay in Toronto. 

Unfortunately, Lizzo fielding unsolicited comments from body-shamers is nothing new. But the “About Damn Time” singer apparently did not appreciate being pulled into Kanye West’s narrative about weight in regards to health and fashion. Ye said on the Fox News show (via People): 

When Tucker Carlson pressed the rapper on why having a bigger body is perpetuated, Kanye West reportedly responded that it was “a genocide of the Black race.”

It’s not hard to see why Lizzo would want to exclude herself from that particular narrative avenue, as she's worked hard to spread a message of self-confidence and body positivity while promoting her fourth studio album, Special. She's also spoken out against "fake doctors" on the Internet purporting to know her or anyone else's health just by looking at their body size.

Will Lizzo ever get to live down her drunk DM to Chris Evans? The singer hilariously went viral over a year ago for shooting her shot with the Captain America actor, and callbacks to the situation just keep going. Most recently, a cardboard cutout of Evans was present at the singer's show in Boston (Evans' hometown), and it made its way on stage and became part of one of the dance numbers. Needless to say, the on-brand moment looked like a blast for concertgoers.

Tons of fans took to social media following Lizzo’s show in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday in order to share an already-iconic sight of the singer performing “Tempo” on stage alongside a cardboard cutout of Chris Evans. Check out this one TikTok post: 

The cutout shows the Marvel alum in a blue suit with a Boston Bruins jersey on top and a sign around his neck that says “Welcome to Boston, Lizzo.” It’s unclear whether the songstress brought the cutout herself for the occasion of being in the actor’s hometown or a fan brought it for her, but considering her reactions, I’d imagine it was the mastermind of a fan.

In the video, the songwriter's dancers twerked all around the Chris Evans cardboard cutout as she sang. At one point, the entertainer put her arm around it before saying “bye, bitch” and handing it off to a security guard. Of course, I'm slightly disappointed that the actual Evans didn’t come to the show himself, but this was hilarious. 

It was in April 2021 that Lizzo took to TikTok to share her playful embarrassment due to DM'ing the actor before later revealing that he had replied back saying there was “no shame in a drunk DM” and he’d “done worse on” Instagram himself. The Knives Out alum went on to follow her and share that he's a fan of her music. 

Ever since then, a lot of fans have been shipping Lizzo and Chris Evans, with one TikToker even illustrating how the pair’s child might look. There were even “rumors” that the pair were actually having a child together and, although they were false, Evans even played along a bit, saying his mother would be so happy about the news. 

The "Truth Hurts" singer recently revealed she asked the actor to play piano on her latest album, which he humbly declined saying he “would need a few more years of lessons.” While the two, the Grammy winner is currently dating comedian Myke Wright, who she recently confessed that she's “in love" with, via Billboard. 

Lizzo’s fourth studio album, Special, was released in July and has become a top-charting record. Her North American arena tour began last week, with Boston being her fifth show of 27, and the touring stint will end in Los Angeles in mid-November. Aside from music, Lizzo hosted SNL earlier this year and hit the halfway mark to an EGOT with her recent Emmy win. In order to get the Oscar and Tony, perhaps there’s an upcoming movie starring the real Evans that she can appear in?

A plethora of well-deserving stars scored 2022 Emmy wins on Monday night, including beloved rapper and songwriter Lizzo. The entertainer won Outstanding Competition Program for her show, Watch Out for the Big Grrrls (streamable with an Amazon Prime subscription), and gave a passionate acceptance speech. This is a major accomplishment on its own but, in the grand scheme of things, the singer is now halfway to becoming an EGOT. So Hollywood, please do a solid by giving her some acting roles so that she can join the exclusive group.

Many stars aspire to become EGOTS – people who’ve won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. One would think that Lizzo herself would be interested in achieving the highly coveted title though, last night, she was definitely living in the moment. In her speech, she expressed her gratitude while also discussing just what it means for her to be honored for the show. Check out the full speech, which she shared to Twitter down below:

It’s honestly hard not to consider just how close the “Truth Hurts” singer is to the moniker at this point. As of right now, only 17 stars have managed to accomplish the feat, including the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend, Mike Nichols and Rita Moreno. And there are others who are only one award away from an EGOT. Personally, I’d love to see her earn the distinction but, again, that’ll all hinge on how many acting roles she manages to pick up over the next few years. 

This may be hard to believe given her star status in the entertainment industry, but the rapper really hasn’t done much work in the realm of film. As of this writing, she only has two movie credits to her name, with one being the animated film UglyDolls. Her most prominent production, however, is the critically acclaimed crime dramedy Hustlers, which was led by Jennifer Lopez. It’s worth noting that the Detroit native has also sought out roles for herself. In 2019, Lizzo expressed interest in playing Ursula in Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, though the part eventually went to Melissa McCarthy. (She and McCarthy would have a nice exchange about the situation sometime later.)

I don’t think many would argue that the singer could be a force in a movie or a stage play, given the right role. As evidenced by the vast social media praise surrounding her Emmy win, it’s clear that she has a firm fanbase, one that would likely pay to see her in productions. I think she’d be perfect for a romance film of sorts (even if I’m not sure any love story can top her actually shooting her shot with Chris Evans). And of course, if more acting isn’t in the cards, then she can always earn that Academy Award and Tony by contributing music to a project or even by serving as a producer. 

There’s no telling if or when it might actually happen, but I’m confident that Lizzo will earn EGOT status at some point down the road. She’s already proven to be one of the hardest-working people in show business and, if she were to hit that mark, it would serve as a validation of her efforts. Plus, I’m sure reaching the milestone would just feel good as hell.

Taylor Swift had quite the night at MTV's Video Music Awards on Sunday night, and the internet is completely living for it. The pop star was not only wearing the most beautiful dress I’ve ever seen, but she was having a blast enjoying the show, Dylan O’Brien in tow. The two stars were celebrating the Taylor Swift directed short film/music video, All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version), which O’Brien starred in. This was for good reason, as the song was the big winner of the night. 

Like myself, people can’t seem to get over her dress. I mean, come on. She looks incredible. Many fans think the dress could be an indicator that she is getting ready to re-record her Reputation album. The dress looks like the jewels she wore in her “Look What You Made Me Do” music video and Swift has a track record for dropping Easter Eggs for her fans to figure out what her next project could be. Without getting into speculation, for right now I just can’t stop looking at how gorgeous the dress is. 

Dylan O’Brian seemed to be having just as much fun as Swift. The iconic duo were killing it dancing to BLACKPINK’s performance of their hit song “Pink Venom.” Looks like these two have remained close after the iconic "All Too Well" music video. I’m so happy to see the Not Okay star supporting Taylor on such a big night for her. 

BLACKPINK wasn’t the only artist that got Taylor moving on Sunday. The “Cardigan” singer was letting loose during Lizzo’s performance of “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready).” I am begging for these two iconic pop princesses to collab for a single on Swift’s new album. Imagine these two killing it together on a stadium tour. Just take my money now. 

Swift was not about to be stopped. When Nicki Minaj started performing her 2010 hit “Super Bass,” the pop star couldn't help but dance rap along. I’m starting a petition for Swift to bring back her rap alter-ego, “T-Swizzle," immediately. 

The support for Nicki did not end there. When Minaj won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, Swift encouraged fellow audience members to stand up for the Hip-Hop legend. Love to see women supporting women. She got support from Beyoncé when Kanye West infamously interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs (sparking a years-long Ye/Swift feud). I’m glad the singer is paying it forward and showing support for another icon. 

The night was hardly over for the “Shake It Off” singer, as she won the biggest award of the night, Video of the Year, for "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)." In her acceptance speech (which she finished), she announced her 10th studio album (12th if you count her re-records), will be released October 21st. She later announced on Instagram that the album will be titled Midnights. She is so iconic for this, I can’t deal.

I have already started decoding her album announcement post to figure out what may be in store for us Swifties. In the meantime, there will be (thankfully) an abundance of Taylor Swift content within the next couple of months. The star will also be appearing in David O’Russell’s Amsterdam, which comes out later this year. This weekend, Beyoncé fans were gifted with the first new album from the beloved icon and Oscar-nominee (for her work on King Richard) since her 2019 The Lion King-inspired album with RENAISSANCE. The 16-track album was quickly hailed a “masterpiece” and broke streaming records. However, in the less than a week that the dance-y and sultry collection of songs were released, a number of controversies have already surfaced. We’ll catch you up. 

RENAISSANCE is Beyoncé’s seventh studio album following the cultural phenomenon that was 2016’s Lemonade that brought out Jay-Z’s infidelities in their relationship. Aside from the latest album hyping up fans with tracks like “ALIEN SUPERSTAR” and “VIRGO’S GROOVE,” here are the controversies the album has already been hit with after Beyoncé bared it all for the new release. 

One Song On Renaissance Had A Slur

On the track “Heated,” the song used the words “spaz” and “spazzin,” which is considered an ableist slur to those who have cerebral palsy, a condition that causes motor impairments in the arms and legs. Disability rights advocates noticed the use of the word in the song and urged Beyoncé to change her lyrics. 

Following the backlash, the spokeswoman for the singer said the word was “not used intentionally in a harmful way, will be replaced,” per the NY Times. The song has since been updated on music streaming services with the word “blast”. In June, Lizzo faced backlash for using the same word in her song “Grrrls,” which she has since updated as well. 

Beyoncé Sampled ‘Milkshake’ Without Permission

But, the lyric change in “Heated” isn’t the only thing that was updated in RENAISSANCE. Kelis, a singer best known for her hit song “Milkshake,” took to social media to share her anger over the 2003 song being a sample in Beyoncé song “Energy” without a credit to her, calling it “theft” in an Instagram post from a fan. Two producers of “Milkshake,” Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, were listed as co-writers of “Energy,” but Kelis was left out. She posted this blunt response: 

As Kelis shared, she was frustrated that Beyoncé and her co-writers did not have the “common decency” to call her up and let her know her music would be part of “Energy.” When the RENAISSANCE update was made, the Kelis sample was also removed. 

Now Monica Lewinsky Wants Out Of An Older Beyoncé Song

If all that heat wasn’t enough, former White House intern Monica Lewinsky has become part of the RENAISSANCE controversy. In response to seeing the news about Beyoncé removing the slur from her new song, Lewinsky said this on Twitter: 

“Partition” is a 2013 song that came out on the singer's self-titled album Beyoncé. On the song, Beyoncé sings “He Monica Lewinsky'd all on my gown.” The lyrics is a reference to Lewinsky famously wearing a blue dress that was covered in former President Bill Clinton’s semen during one of their Oval Office assignations and later became a piece of evidence in his impeachment hearings after their sex scandal. Beyoncé namedrops Lewinsky to imply a mess on a dress, as the song details a sexual situation. It’s clearly a lyric Lewinsky has not been keen on over the years. 

It’s both Beyoncé’s week and really not her week as a number of controversies sprung out after the release of RENAISSANCE. If you do happen to be on the Queen Bey hype train, you can revisit her incredible Coachella set and self-directed documentary Homecoming with a Netflix subscription. 

You’ve heard of the urban slang term “big dick energy” a.k.a. BDE, right? Think of it as having confidence without being too cocky about it. Everyone has their own idea of who carries this admirable trait, and Anne Hathaway shared who she believes has BDE. You’ll be very impressed with her choices.

There are a lot of people in Hollywood who exhibit the powers of BDE based on what a celebrity stands for, as well as their actions. In Interview Magazine, Anne Hathaway was asked questions by a number of celebrity chums of hers. One of those friends, Mindy Kaling, mentioned to Hathaway about being part of a text chain five years ago about who she thinks has BDE, and this was what the Princess Diaries star had to say.

She makes some nice points. After all, Lizzo has had no problems speaking out about internet weight shaming and being proud of your body. Billie Eilish won Album of the Year at the Grammys for her first album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? as well as winning Best Original Song at the 2022 Academy Awards. Harry Styles has established himself as a successful singer and acted in movies like Amazon Prime's My Policeman, where he plays a gay cop. United States Vice President Kamala Harris wore Christopher John Rogers’ unforgettable designs during Inauguration Day. And we also can’t forget about Michelle Yeoh, who continues to dazzle us in every kick-assing role she plays, like A24’s high-grossing film Everything Everywhere All At Once. So who would you say rocks your BDE scale?

Anne Hathaway has had some BDE moments herself. Not only has the actress won Best Supporting Actress for Les Miserables, but she’s had no problem firing back at her haters for not having some intelligence behind their negativity. The former Disney star has also spoken about fat shaming and not caring about living up to Hollywood’s size standards. What you should also know about Anne Hathaway is that she recently quit drinking for her six-year-old son and plans on continuing that behavior until her son turns 18. Well, it proves in terms of recognizing BDE, it takes one to know one. Although if it was up to me, I would rephrase the term for women as BOE (big ovary energy). 

Anne Hathaway’s latest project saw her being part of the cast for the Apple TV+ limited series WeCrashed. She played opposite Jared Leto as his character Adam Neumann's wife, Rebekah Neumann, who is also the chief brand and impact officer of WeWork. While we won’t be getting a Princess Diaries sequel anytime soon, Hathaway has some upcoming movies under her belt like the Cannes hit Armageddon Time, which received a seven-minute standing ovation from the audience. We’ll be sure to continue to see Anne Hathaway show that BDE in everything she does going forward.

Let me tell you - I thrived off of The Proud Family when I was a kid. I loved that show to pieces and enjoyed every family message, hilarious bit, and all around great characters up until the show ended. It’s a fantastic animated show centered on a wonderful Black family, and will surely make anyone love these funny members of the Proud family. So, imagine my excitement when I found out that The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder was coming to Disney+.

To say I was eager to see what the show had to offer with a more grown-up Penny and a new atmosphere is an understatement, and the moment that it premiered on the popular streaming platform, I was watching it from day one. From that first episode, I’ve noticed so many fun cameos from celebrities that are truly hilarious to re-watch, so here are my top eight celebrity voice cameos from The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder Season 1. 

Lil Nas X (June Bug)

While his cameo in the season finale of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder was short, I have to put it on here for the fact that it made for good entertainment. When the Proud family visits family in Oklahoma, they get caught up in the wrangling business, and you can clearly hear Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” in the background as Oscar (the father) tries to wrangle horses. 

His character, June Bug, is seen only for a little while, saying "I'm the only one that plays guitar around there." It’s certainly a fun little cameo that, if you recognize his voice, you can clearly tell that is him, without a doubt. 

Tina Knowles (Ms. Gina)

It seems the drama that Tina Knowles had with Disney+ is over with, as she actually had a guest spot on The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder in the episode, “Raging Bully.” Here, she plays Ms. Gina, the owner of a fancy hair salon that no one can ever seem to get an appointment at. That is, everyone but Suga Mama, whom Ms. Gina always makes time for. 

It’s a hilarious cameo and one that I really enjoy, as you can really tell that Knowles connected with the character and had a super fun time recording it. 

Eva Longoria (Melrose Avanúñez)

Eva Longoria has been a big name in Hollywood for some time, from her starring role in the Desperate Housewives cast, to taking on new TV and movie roles over the last few years. She decided to step back into the voice-over world with a cameo in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, when she voiced Melrose Avanúñez in the episode, “A Quinceañera to Remember.”

There’s just something about her voice that makes me smile, but her character, Melrose, is the opposite, as she clashes with everyone at LaCienega Boulevardez’s party and makes everyone’s life a living hell, which further shows her voice-acting talents. I also especially like that she was a part of an episode that really took the focus away from Penny, giving other characters the chance to shine more. 

Lamorne Morris (Himself)

As a New Girl fan who loved Lamorne Morris as part of the New Girl cast, I have to say, him in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder was something I didn’t know I needed. His guest cameo, where he plays himself, in the episode, “When You Wish Upon a Roker” (which also guest-stars Al Roker), is just perfect. 

Morris is the lead of a hip-hop musical based on the life of Benedict Arnold - you know exactly what this is parodying, and yes, it is indeed Hamilton, the smash hit that was released on Disney+ in 2020 for the world to see. It’s hilarious to see him in this role and I personally wished we had gotten more of this parody than we did. I would have listened to a whole soundtrack of just Lamorne Morris rapping. 

Lizzo (Herself) 

Hands down, this was one of the best cameos of the season, specifically because Lizzo sounded like she was having the time of her life recording this. 

Lizzo has been making headlines for the last several years, whether that be from her hosting SNL to going viral when she shared her DM’s with Chris Evans, you just can’t not love this performer, which is why she was the perfect choice to guest star as herself in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, during the episode,  “Snackland.”

Her role is perfect, where she comforts Penny after her friends replace her in a group because they didn’t like her voice. Lizzo, who was in the area, comforts Penny and tells her to embrace her voice in her own Lizzo-way, truly inspiring me, as well, to embrace who I am. The queen of self-confidence, that is exactly who Lizzo is. 

Tiffany Haddish (Ms. Hill)

When I think of Tiffany Haddish, I always instantly think comedy. Haddish has so many hilarious movies and TV roles that it’s not a surprise that she’s also in the voice-acting world, as her personality leaks through and shines in any character that she does. That’s the case for her cameo in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, in the episode, “Home School.”

Here, she voices Ms. Hill, a substitute teacher for Penny, who has a surprising backstory - that she lives in the teacher’s lounge rather than a home, and Penny learns about the lesson of being grateful for the home that she lives in - because not everyone else can have a nice home like she does. It’s a great cameo for Haddish, as it not only teaches a valuable lesson, but shows off her voice-acting skills wonderfully. 

Bretman Rock (Makeup Boy)

If you follow YouTube creators, like I have for many years, this name probably sounds pretty familiar. Bretman Rock is a famous influencer who is known for his killer makeup looks, which is what made me so excited to see him guest-star in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, in the episode, “Bad Influence(r).”

He plays a character called Makeup Boy, an influencer whom everyone seems to be obsessed with besides Penny, who sees through his tactics, and finds a way to get him canceled by getting famous herself. As someone who has grown up in this cancel culture and makeup guru world on YouTube, it is hilarious to see it come to life on television, and honestly, Bretman Rock was the perfect person to play that role. I especially love that Makeup Boy isn't even upset that he was canceled near the end - he instead thanks Penny for making him remember his roots. Just perfect. 

CeeLo Green (Shuggie)

Last but not least, we have CeeLo Green, a legend in the music industry, who guest-starred on the pilot episode of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, called “New Kids on the Block.” In this episode, Green plays Shuggie, a panda. That’s right, you heard me, a panda. 

It’s a stupid-funny cameo, where Shuggie insists to Penny and Maya (someone she’s trying to be friends with) that he doesn’t want to be saved even though everyone assumes he wants to be. He’s happy just being who and where he is and doesn’t need people to assume he wants to be anywhere else. Green’s voice was the best choice for Shuggie, as he not only gives an attitude to the panda but sings a fun song that shows off his vocals, too. 

With The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder getting renewed for Season 2, according to Variety, it’s only a matter of time before we get to see more celebrity guest cameos. And, I’m sure they’ll be just as entertaining as these were.   

One of the best things about Saturday Night Live is you have absolutely no idea what the next sketch is going to be about. Sometimes it’s topical, as we saw last night with an Easter Cold Opening that included Dr. Fauci, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Elon Musk, Donald Trump and more. Sometimes it’s random like Lizzo playing a flautist who moves it a little more than the conductor wants her to, and sometimes it’s commentary on something that happened a long time ago. Enter the Black Eyed Peas. 

The pop-rap act had an incredibly successful run in the aughts with a string of huge hits including “Let’s Get It Started”, “Where Is The Love?”, “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling.” They dominated the radio and were played widely at bars and hotspots, but the lyrics to some of those songs weren’t necessarily the most sophisticated. So, more than a decade later, SNL took aim at some of those rather on the nose phrases. You can check out the sketch below, which features Kenan Thompson, Chris Redd, Cecily Strong and Bowen Yang as the group in question and Lizzo and Aidy Bryant as record executives trying to get them to go deeper…

First of all, let the record show Lizzo is a good actress. She’s obviously done music videos and has acted here or there, including a bit role in the excellent Hustlers, but I was impressed by her work throughout the SNL episode. There were times in which she smiled/ giggled a little, but her lines were mostly delivered with authenticity and conviction, even when she had to get weird. She just jumped in and went for it, which is all you can ever ask of a host without extensive comedy experience. So, cheers for her. I truly hope she’s invited back to host again at some point down the line.

But as for the sketch itself, this is just too much fun, especially for all of us who were high school/ college/ post college aged when Black Eyed Peas were tearing up the radio. There was a several year period where it felt like you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing their music; so, this was a really fun trip down memory lane. I also think this toggled a good line by including pointed jokes at the group’s expense but not going so far where it came off as too mean.

Fans really seemed to enjoy the sketch on social media. There were a lot of tweets about how much people were loving the jokes and how clever a lot of the references were, especially the nods to “Let’s Get It Started” and the song’s original title that certainly does not play today. 

SNL will return for additional episodes this season, though the specifics have not been made clear beyond Benedict Cumberbatch returning to take up hosting duties on May 7th with Arcade Fire, which will coincide with the opening of the highly anticipated Doctor Strange 2. Expect to see a terrific episode, as well as plenty of coming speculation about which cast members will stay and which cast members will go after Season 47 concludes. 

Following Kim Kardashian’s first-time stint on Saturday Night Live back in October, a lot has been said about who does or doesn’t qualify to headline the sketch comedy show. Lizzo’s imminent debut as host tonight isn’t getting much scrutiny on that front – most likely because her online comedic talents proceed her just as much as her singing and flute talents. However, the Grammy winner opened up about the aspect of the SNL gig that does actually make her feel “nervous.”

Lizzo will be doubling as both host and musical guest, with only the latter being her second time to do so. (She performed “Truth Hurts” and her other hits during Eddie Murphy’s return as SNL host back in 2019.) So it’s not the musical performances that have her worried, that’s for sure. Speaking on SiriusXM, the 33-year-old shared that “corpsing,” or breaking character, in front of the comedy vets could be an issue. She said:

Kate McKinnon has indeed brought back her notorious Ruth Bader Ginsburg impression to SNL recently – so I’d be worried about accidentally laughing on live television, too. But Lizzo will be in good company, considering how they all have broken down with chuckles or snickers at some point in their scenes. Bill Hader and Jimmy Fallon are more widely known for corpsing, in fact, than for actually staying in their roles. (For proof, watch this hilarious montage of the SNL cast members doing so over the years.)

Regardless, I believe the Hustlers actress will make a big splash as she always does. Not only did she slay the Season 14 premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race back in January, she also unquestionably won last Halloween outright with her Baby Yoda costume. There’s a sketch idea right there for you, Saturday Night Live writers. When asked whether those same writers kept her in-the-know about their plans for her, the singer stated:

SNL certainly has a ton of material to work with when it comes to Lizzo’s hosting debut sketches. Just imagine seasoned host Melissa McCarthy being invited back to 30 Rock for the night, just to do some kind of Ursula face-off with the freshman star. (ICYMI, Lizzo had been vying for McCarthy's villain role in the live-action The Little Mermaid, and lost.) But I'd settle for a reference to Ass Crack Summer or the singer finally having Chris Evans’ baby like she's always wanted. Which, if they get Captain America himself to play along in that bit, it would be the greatest thing ever. Ever.

Several newbie SNL hosts have taken the reins in Season 47, including Rami Malek, Kim Kardashian, Owen Wilson, Jonathan Majors, and others. Tune into ABC tonight at 11:30 p.m. EST to see how if Lizzo still has the "Juice." Just don't crack!

The latest season of Saturday Night Live kicked off with an episode hosted by Loki and The French Dispatch star Owen Wilson, who finally led the show for the first time in his career. And, even though he has admitted in the past that his nervousness has stopped him from doing something like this in the past, Wilson did a tremendous job with his hosting duties, especially the sketch that saw him reprise his Cars character, Lightning McQueen. The SNL Season 47 premiere also featured Kacey Musgraves making history with her instant-classic performance.

October 9, 2021 - Kim Kardashian West With Musical Guest Halsey

On October 9, Kim Kardashian West hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time, and proved that she actually had great comedic timing. The episode, which was watched by millions of viewers, saw the reality TV star poke fun at her ex-husband Kanye West, multiple members of her family, and even O.J. Simpson to make her mark. The second episode of the season also featured musical guest Halsey, who performed on the very popular show for the fourth time throughout her career.

October 16, 2021 - Rami Malek With Musical Guest Young Thug

On October 16, Rami Malek, hot off the long-awaited release of No Time to Die, hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time in his career. One of the highlights of the episode was the sketch that saw Malek share the screen with his 007 co-star Daniel Craig, and SNL mainstay Kenan Thompson, in an audition for a Prince biopic. The third episode of the season also featured musical guest Young Thug, who made his SNL debut with a pair of electric performances.

October 23, 2021 - Jason Sudeikis With Musical Guest Brandi Carlile

On October 23, Saturday Night Live alum Jason Sudeikis returned to his old stomping grounds to host the long running series for the first time since departing the cast in 2013, although he has made multiple cameos during the years since then. The Ted Lasso star was featured in the majority of the sketches, including the cold open that saw three different versions of Joe Biden conversing in the Oval Office. Sudeikis also gave an impassioned opening monologue about the show’s history and what it means to him. Musical guest Brandi Carlile made her SNL debut in spectacular fashion.

November 6, 2021 - Kieran Culkin With Musical Guest Ed Sheeran

On November 6, Kieran Culkin hosted Saturday Night Live for the very first time and became the second Culkin brother to take the stage (Macaulay Culkin had the honor of hosting during the 1991 season). In the years since making his acting debut as the soda-loving Fuller McCallister in Home Alone, Culkin has appeared in movies ranging from Father of the Bride to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. He has also been one of the major players on the HBO drama series Succession, for which he has received both Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his portrayal of Roman Roy.

Filling the role of musical guest on SNL on November 6 was Ed Sheeran, who took the stage for the third time in his career. Sheeran previously appeared on SNL in April 2014 and February 2017.

November 13, 2021 - Jonathan Majors With Musical Guest Taylor Swift

On November 13, Jonathan Majors hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time in his young, yet highly-successful career, delivering an impressive opening monologue and showing off his comedy chops in many of the night's best sketches. This probably won’t be the last SNL appearance by Majors, whose career reached new heights following his portrayal of He Who Remains on Loki in Summer 2021, especially with his continued involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Stepping in as the musical guest on November 13 was Miss Americana herself, Taylor Swift, who broke from tradition and gave a single ten-minute performance of "All Too Well." This marked the fifth time Swift has taken to the SNL stage since she made her first appearance on the show in November 2009. Now, we just need to get T. Swift back on hosting duties.

November 20, 2021 - Simu Liu With Musical Guest Saweetie

On November 20, Simu Liu added Saturday Night Live host to his list of 2021 achievements when he appeared on the long-running sketch comedy program. Liu made waves earlier in the year when he portrayed the titular hero in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, making him the third Marvel star (so far) to host SNL this season. Liu is also no stranger when it comes to comedy, as he was a fixture of the sitcom Kim’s Convenience and also made guest appearances on Fresh Off the Boat and Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens.

Rap sensation Saweetie served as the Saturday Night Live musical guest for the first time in her career on November 20. In addition to her successful music career, the MTV Video Music Award-winning performer has also been featured on Grown-ish, Wild ’n Out, and Cooking with Paris.

December 11, 2021 - Billie Eilish

On December 11, Billie Eilish followed in the footsteps of Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and a few dozen other famous singers who have pulled double-duty as Saturday Night Live host and musical guest. Hot off the July 2021 release of her sophomore effort Happier Than Ever and the long-awaited release of No Time to Die (which features the Grammy-winning title track), Eilish showed off her comedy chops in multiple skits and the impressive opening monologue.

Billie Eilish also took care of the musical duties with renditions of "Happier Than Ever" and "Male Fantasy" alongside her brother and musical partner Finneas.

December 18, 2021 - Paul Rudd With Musical Guest Charli XCX

Paul Rudd officially became a member of the prestigious 5-Timers Club when he hosted Saturday Night Live on December 18, but not in the way in which everyone hoped. Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in New York City, Saturday Night Live's Christmas episode became a collection of pre-shot segments filmed throughout the week and classic skits from holidays past. Rudd was joined by fellow 5-Timers Tom Hanks and Tina Fey in studio, as well as Steve Martin and Martin Sheen via video. Fey even stuck around to appear alongside Michael Che in the Weekend Update segment.

Charli XCX was originally scheduled to be the episode's musical guest, but her performance was cancelled due to the decision by Saturday Night Live producers to have a limited cast and crew and no live audience due to the uptick in COVID-19 cases, according to a Tweet the singer made.

January 15, 2022 - Ariana DeBose With Musical Guest Bleachers

On January 15, Golden Globe winner Ariana DeBose made her Saturday Night Live debut when she hosted the first episode of 2022. DeBose became the second member of the Hamilton cast to serve as SNL host, and first since the Broadway hit’s creator Lin-Manuel Miranda hosted back in October 2016. To star things off, the West Side Story star was joined by SNL mainstay Kate McKinnon to perform a medley of numbers from Steven Spielberg's 2021 adaptation of the iconic Broadway musical.

Several days before Saturday Night Live was set to air, Roddy Ricch was replaced by Bleachers as that week's musical guest. The Jack Antonoff-led group performed the hit songs "How Dare You Want More" and "Chinatown."

January 22, 2022 - Will Forte With Musical Guest Måneskin

On January 22, Saturday Night Live alum Will Forte returned to 30 Rockefeller Plaza’s Studio 8H, and became the latest in a long line of SNL greats to host the show for the first time (even if he was the last of the core 2000s group to do so). Forte was joined by Kristen Wiig and the two went to town with some of their most iconic characters and tons of laughs throughout the night.

Italian rock outfit Måneskin served as the Saturday Night Live musical guest, performing their hits “Beggin” and “I Wanna Be Your Slave.”

January 29, 2022 - Willem Dafoe With Musical Guest Katy Perry

Willem Dafoe took to Studio 8H for the first time in his legendary career when he hosted Saturday Night Live on January 29. During his hilarious and endearing monologue, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star touched on everything from his over-the-top facial expressions to comparisons with the Joker.

Serving as musical guest was Katy Perry, who performed “When I’m Gone” and “Never Really Over during her fourth appearance on the long-running sketch comedy program.

February 26, 2022 - John Mulaney With Musical Guest LCD Soundsystem

Former Saturday Night Live writer John Mulaney joined the “Five-Timers Club” in a sketch during his February 26 hosting gig with cameos by Steve Martin, Candace Bergen, Paul Rudd, Tina Fey, Elliott Gould, and, most surprisingly, fellow former writer Conan O’Brien. Following a moving, choral tribute to Ukraine, the comedian gave a very personal, but thoroughly hilarious monologue and, later, kept tradition with a new musical sketch that pokes fun at New York’s subway system.

Also appearing in said sketch was musical guest LCD Soundsystem, the Grammy Award-winning rock outfit led by singer James Murphy. For their first appearance on Saturday Night Live since May 2017, the band performed two songs off of their self-titled, 2005 debut album - namely “Thrills” and “Yr City’s a Sucker.”

March 5, 2022 - Oscar Isaac With Musical Guest Charli XCX

Just in time for the Disney+ premiere of his Marvel TV show, Moon Knight, later in the month, Oscar Isaac made his Saturday Night Live hosting debut on March 5. During his opening monologue, the actor mentioned his MCU induction as a segue into showing clips from his childhood home movie - coincidentally called The Avenger - and capping it off with some encouragement for kids to be “weirdos” on the chance that they might host SNL one day.

Performing some tunes from her latest album, Crash, in between the humor was  Grammy winner Charli XCX.  This was the British singer’s second time on SNL, which was supposed to happen the night Paul Rudd hosted on December 18 before her appearance was canceled in response to the Omicron variant in New York.

March 12, 2022 - Zoë Kravitz With Musical Guest Rosalía

Making her SNL debut on March 12 was Zoë Kravitz, whose role as Catwoman in The Batman became a point of conversation that night. Her monologue saw the return of past Catwomen (Kate McKinnon as Batman Returns’ Michelle Pfieffer and Ego Nwodim as Eartha Kitt from the 1960s TV Series) as well as Aidy Bryant as a “Cat Lady” and Chris Redd as comedian Katt Williams. The actress also starred in a Please Don’t Destroy video (featuring a cameo by Riddler actor Paul Dano) in which the titular trio attempt to give their host a cat.

That night’s musical guest was Rosalía, who became the first in the show’s history to sing entirely in Spanish for both performances. This was also the first Saturday Night Live appearance ever for the singer-songwriter whose sophomore album El Mal Querer won the Latin Grammy for Album of the Year in 2019.

April 2, 2022 - Jerrod Carmichael With Musical Guest Gunna

It was actually surprising to learn that Neighbors cast member Jerrod Carmichael had never hosted SNL before he hit the stage when the show returned on April 2, 2022. In his monologue, the actor, writer, comedian, and filmmaker commented on recently coming out as gay on his new HBO Max stand-up special, Rothaniel, and his unwillingness to talk about a certain Oscars ceremony incident before later starring in a sketch about it.

The audience was also treated to a pair of performances by Gunna, who released his third and most recent studio album, DS4Ever, in January. The Georgia-based rapper also starred in a music video with Pete Davidson about some people’s preferences for watching “short-ass movies” depending on the time of day.

April 9, 2022 - Jake Gyllenhaal With Musical Guest Camila Cabello

The last time Jake Gyllenhaal hosted Saturday Night Live was 15 years earlier, followed by a few memorable cameos - most recently in February 2020 as a “guy who travels in pajamas” at LaGuardia Airport. The Academy Award nominee and Ambulance star actually mentioned his Dreamgirls song performance in drag at that first 2007 gig when he re-entered the Studio 8H spotlight, front-and-center, on April 9.

Also celebrating her sophomore SNL gig was Camila Cabello, who previously appeared as the show’s musical guest during Season 45 in 2019. The Cuban-American Grammy nominee, who made her acting debut with Amazon Prime’s Cinderella cast in 2021, was also joined by Willow Smith for the first live performance of their new song, “Psychofreak.”

April 16, 2022 - Lizzo

After making her Saturday Night Live debut as a musical guest on the night Eddie Murphy returned in Season 45, Lizzo made her hosting debut on April 16, 2022, with an opening monologue that she promised would break the record for the most times “bitch” has been said on live TV, and she just might have achieved it. The Grammy-winning artist had previously admitted to being nervous about breaking out in laughter, which did happen often, but actually leant to the appeal of the show and solidified Lizzo as one of this season’s most charming and enthusiastic hosts yet.

The Hustlers cast member also served as musical guest, performing two songs from her new album, About Damn Time (first introduced by herself and secondly by her mother). She also collaborated on a funny track with Please Don’t Destroy and demonstrated her masterful skills with a flute in a sketch that also utilized her twerking talent.

May 7, 2022 -  Benedict Cumberbatch With Musical Guest Arcade Fire

For the second time, Benedict Cumberbatch hosted Saturday Night Live while promoting his lead performance in a Marvel movie - namely Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, this time. This being Season 47’s Mother’s Day show, the Oscar nominee paid tribute to his mother and his wife in his hilarious monologue and later shared the screen with his MCU co-star, Elizabeth Olsen, for a funny moment from a later sketch.

Joining the Five-Timers Club on May 7, 2022 (if the membership rules also apply to musicians) was the episode’s musical guest, Arcade Fire, who also once performed on the show as special guests with then-host Mick Jagger in 2012.  The Grammy-winning, Canadian indie rock group played the two-part song “The Lightning” and “Unconditional (Lookout Kid)” off of their latest album, We.

May 14, 2022 -  Selena Gomez With Musical Guest Post Malone

Former Disney Channel star Selena Gomez, who previously performed on Saturday Night Live as a musical guest in Season 41, made her debut as a host  on May 14, 2022. In her monologue, the Only Murders in the Building cast member made fun of her co-star, Steve Martin (before also appearing in a sketch with him), and paid homage to her days on the children’s program, Barney.

While Gomez did not perform any music that night in Studio 8H, as that gig was secured by Post Malone. This was the first SNL appearance for the Grammy-nominated rapper and Wrath of Man cast member, who was also joined on stage by Roddy Rich and Fleet Foxes.

May 21, 2022 - Natasha Lyonne With Musical Guest Japanese Breakfast

Closing out Season 47 of Saturday Night Live on May 21, 2022 was Natasha Lyonne - the former Orange is the New Black cast member and star and co-creator of Russian Doll on Netflix. The actor made her hosting debut on what would also be the last episode for cast members Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney.

Also making their SNL debut as musical guest was Japanese Breakfast. The Grammy-nominated indie rock group, headed by Korean-American singer Michelle Zauner, performed two tracks from their third studio album, Jubilee, called “Be Sweet” and “Paprika.”

As someone who thought that Season 47 was, overall, a success, I am excited to see what they have in store with Saturday Night Live Season 48.

Before the live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid was even officially a thing, there were ongoing debates on who should play which characters, including through fan campaigns and ones by stars for certain roles. While she was initially pushed by fans, pop star Lizzo took matters into her own hands. The “Truth Hurts” singer made a case for herself as Ursula by posting a video of herself singing the Disney villain’s signature tune “Poor Unfortunate Souls” made up as the character. While she got an audition with the House of Mouse, things didn’t end up working out as Melissa McCarthy scored the role as the voluptuous sea witch, but the two women have since shared a sweet exchange.

Despite vying for the Ursula role, the rapper and McCarthy didn’t officially meet until they ran into each other at the taping for pop superstar Adele’s CBS special One Night Only. While at the taping, the two women had a nice conversation. The multifaceted music star and the actress found out they had more in common than auditioning for the same role. Lizzo laid out to Variety how their conversation turned from causal to surprisingly eerie:

Talk about a star-studded event! Imagine telling Melissa McCarthy your audition was awful as Tyler Perry walked by. At least the two women could bond over their commonalities, no matter how awkward it was. Of course, Lizzo was just saying her audition was terrible in jest. In the same interview, the Grammy-winning star cleared up the air about how things played out with Disney.

At least Lizzo gave her all despite her initial claims stating otherwise. Her viral TikTok video showed she had the skills to pull off the popular villainess. But that wasn’t the only live-action Disney adaptation the Grammy winner was aiming for. A fan felt the plus-sized pop star would be great to play one of the Muses, Terpsichore, for the live-action Hercules remake, which the musician completely agreed about. It seems like she is ready to make the full crossover to film after her role in Hustlers.

While fans wait for Lizzo’s big-screen return, viewers will have to wait a bit to see how Melissa McCarthy does as Ursula. The Little Mermaid won’t arrive in theaters until May 26, 2023. The live-action remake is just on many upcoming Disney movies expected to premiere over the next few years. Many 1990s kids grew up watching Eddie Murphy play the entire Klumps clan in The Nutty Professor franchise. Each film elicited laughs with a hint of sweetness and silliness. Oftentimes, the laughs were at the expense of the intelligent and doubt-filled Sherman Klump. While some laughed at the character, Grammy winner Lizzo couldn’t help but connect with the overweight college professor. The “Rumors” singer recently explained the emotional reaction she had to the 1996 comedy.

The pop star understood the plight of Eddie Murphy’s character as a young girl dealing with food issues growing up. Of course, now Lizzo has become the face of body positivity despite facing hurtful rumors such as her killing someone stage diving, which was clarified through a TikTok video. But growing up, she saw only stereotypes of overweight characters in film and television. Watching The Nutty Professor symbolized that for her. While many viewers laughed at the Klump family’s antics, the rapper-singer opened up to Variety about what led her to empathize with Sherman Klump rather than dislike him:

Seeing Professor Sherman Klump through Lizzo’s eyes painted a different picture of an otherwise funny character. Hiding food in his desk was a sign of shame for Professor Klump, as he was always quick to close the drawer. She found a kindred spirit in the overweight professor as he reflected on her struggles with food. So understanding the plight of food anxiety and secret eating hit different for the Grammy winner.

Despite building around more stereotypes, The Nutty Professor franchise brought joy and laughs to millions of moviegoers. The first film was a critical and commercial hit, grossing over $274 million and Professor Kumlp being regarded as one of Eddie Murphy’s funniest movie characters. The queens are back, back, back again. The hit reality competition series RuPaul’s Drag Race has officially kicked off Season 14, and fans are thrilled to see the new line-up of prospective drag superstars. They were also agog to see that the main guest judge for the season premiere episode was none other than pop superstar and expert flutist Lizzo.

The Season 14 premiere of the Emmy Award-winning RuPaul’s Drag Race hit VH1 last Friday. In addition to introducing seven fierce new queens, the episode also featured one absolutely stunning guest judge. Lizzo, the singer behind hits like ‘Juice’ and ‘Truth Hurts,’ hit the mainstage to serve stunning looks and honest critiques in equal measure.

Fans were, understandably, thrilled. Though Lizzo gave herself a thorough introduction, fans immediately recognized the pop goddess:

Fans also commented on Lizzo's futuristic outfit - after all, this is RuPaul's Drag Race we're talking about. Lewks are not just an optional dress code, they're an absolute necessity. Styled by Marko Monroe and reminiscent of Tina Turner's 'Thunderdome' look from the 'We Don't Need Another Hero' music video, Lizzo shined like a mirrorball in her silvery mesh extravaganza. Fashion mavens were quick to take note: 

Lizzo also endeared herself to the viewers when she praised instant fan-favorite Kornbread “The Snack” Jeté, who she dubbed a ‘supernova.’ Longtime Drag Race judge Michelle Visage wasn’t quite eating up everything Kornbread was serving, but Lizzo and drag legend RuPaul were more than happy to shush her in favor of applauding the future challenge winner and South Carolina native. 

Lizzo delivered such a memorable performance on RuPaul's Drag Race that even past contestants gave her a social media shout-out. BOA (also known as Bitch On Arrival), an alum of Season 1 of the spinoff Canada's Drag Race, attested that Lizzo might snag herself a spot in the Top Four. 

While most fans are more than familiar with Lizzo in the year 2022, there was a time when the ‘Cuz I Love You’ songstress wasn’t making headlines. One Twitter user noted that Lizzo had actually appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race as a guest judge in an episode of Season 10. However, she wasn’t the headlining act that she is now; instead,  at the time, Lizzo was unknown to many Drag Race fans (although the lip sync was indeed to ‘Good as Hell’). Now, Lizzo is a superstar worthy of a season premiere, and this fan got a little emotional:

The second half of the season premiere will air on January 14 and introduce the next seven queens that will compete for the title of ‘Next Drag Superstar’. Plenty of celebrities have celebrated Halloween with extravagant costumes. Famous faces like Heidi Klum have even made holiday dressing an annual tradition, with fans eagerly waiting to see what intricate outfits their favorite stars will wear in a given year. This time around, however, one celebrity quickly rose through the ranks to dominate social media mentions and provide some much-needed laughs. The celebrity? Lizzo. The costume? A hilariously elaborate Baby Yoda. 

The singer and flutist definitely owned Halloween this year. The Grammy-winning performer donned prosthetics and plenty of green makeup to embody Grogu, a.k.a Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian. Check out her look below: 

Lizzo is almost unrecognizable in the costume, which involved elaborate face paint, giant prosthetic ears, and the alien’s signature tan coat. The "Truth Hurts" singer put a Hollywood spin on the character's look by adding a long blonde wig, a gold manicure, and some stylish shades. The final touch? Some shearling Ugg boots a la Alexis Rose. 

The star's hilarious Insta post also showed Baby Yoda’s night out on the town. Grogu had a few drinks, posed for paparazzi photos, and struck a pose on a crosswalk. He seemed to have a bit too much fun, however, as his publicity team claims he has no memory of the events. Someone should have called Pedro Pascal, as it seems that the Child might have benefitted from the supervision of his Mandalorian babysitter. 

Lizzo wasn’t the only celebrity to go all out this Halloween. Model Hailey Bieber donned several iconic Britney Spears outfits, including the red latex bodysuit from the "Oops!.. I Did It Again" video and the lingerie-inspired ensemble that once graced the cover of Rolling Stone. Singer and The Voice coach Ariana Grande also made use of special effects make-up. She donned full facial and arm prosthetics to portray an old Hollywood-style ‘Miss Creature from the Black Lagoon.’ 

Rapper Lil Nas X dressed as everyone’s favorite basketball jock Seth Powers from Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide and everyone’s least favorite wizard Lord Voldemort. Other Halloween 2021 highlights included Harry Styles’ cutesy take on Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz and Megan Thee Stallion’s glam version of Pinhead from Hellraiser. Nevertheless, while many stars made valiant efforts, Lizzo’s Baby Yoda is one for the history books. I, for one, would not be mad if she actually appeared in a Mandalorian crossover episode. After all, if Ed Sheeran can sing on Game of Thrones, Lizzo can definitely play the flute in the Star Wars cantina. Disney, make it happen.

The hilarious part about it is Chris Evans actually decided to respond, telling her there was “no shame” in her slippery fingers doing the talking. Cut to four months later, the internet is still loving the idea of the pair and are even imagining what a hypothetical daughter of theirs would look like:

Lizzo shared the video and pretended to be pregnant again, because it feels like this bit will keep going until Evans and Lizzo actually have a baby... maybe?

It seems like the two celebrities have a mutual respect for each other, even if it's platonic. Chris Evans admitted he’s a big fan of the singer famous for chart-topping songs like “Juice” and “Truth Hurts” after the private message got them in contact for the first time and led Evans to start following Lizzo on social media.

They definitely have something in common, considering both of them are huge Disney fans. Lizzo has campaigned to be in roles from the House of Mouse before, most recently as one of the Muses in the live-action Hercules movie, and Chris Evans had long been vocal about being a bit of a musical theatre nerd, especially in terms of Disney musicals.

Back in 2018, the chart-topping pop singer shared a convincing Ursula rendition for Halloween that had some people feeling less confident about Melissa McCarthy’s role in the live-action Little Mermaid movie, in all honesty. But since that ship has sailed, it’s time to think about another Disney role for Lizzo. Since she released an Ancient Greek inspired music video, fans want her to play one of the Muses.

It’d be perfect, right? There’s even a live-action Hercules movie in the works from the Russo Brothers, and it just wouldn’t be the same without its musical narrators. Since Lizzo’s “Rumors” music video came out last week, fans have been casting the “Truth Hurts” singer and other actors as specific Muses, and Lizzo is reacting to their ideas.

Lizzo is active on TikTok, most famously for her posts connecting her and Chris Evans, so she came across the side of the social media platform casting her in the Hercules movie. The one she chose to react to is a commentary on users' tendency to imagine her as the shortest and heaviest of the bunch, just because she is a full-figured pop singer. And, no thank you.

Lizzo reacted to a post by Alexsis Page, which criticized another post that cast her as Thalia among their picks. She shared that it “pisses her off” that people would cast her in that role when she’s clearly better for the role of Terpsichore, because her vocal register matches more closely with the character that was initially voiced by LaChanze in the animated film. She pointed out that Lizzo would actually be one of the taller Muses of the bunch. Judging by Lizzo’s reaction, she agrees with Page’s analysis and is down to bring her vocals to a Hercules film.

The TikToker subsequently made a post sharing her own picks for the Muses, which include Respect’s Jennifer Hudson as the middle and main Muse Calliope, Glee’s Amber Riley and Alex Newell as Melpomeme and Cilo, along with Orange Is The New Black’s Uzo Aduba as Thalia. Page sparks a great conversation about how casting too often comes down to outward appearance over who is better for a character, and her casting ideas are on point.

We have to wonder if Lizzo’s latest music video “Rumors” is subliminal messaging to Disney about the impending Hercules live-action movie. I mean, just look at the visuals:

Disney's live-action Hercules was first announced back in April 2020, with Avengers: Endgame’s Russo brothers producing and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings's David Callaham writing. The Russos updated in early 2021 that they were awaiting a script before moving forward through development. Until then, the next live-action Disney films are The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan & Wendy.

If you’re anything like me, you can’t get enough of the whole Lizzo/Chis Evans dream romance situation that is unfolding on the singer's TikTok. And there’s more tea to spill! Apparently there’s an imaginary little Avenger in Lizzo’s womb and Chris Evans knows all about it. And he had the best response to learning about the "big news."

This chapter in the endearing tale that is Lizzo’s and Chris Evans’ social media love story all started when a fan told Lizzo that they knew she was pregnant with Evans’ child, and the musician jumped into action to jokingly confirm the pregnancy claim. Lizzo revealed in a video on her TikTok that Chris Evans sent her a DM about the supposed pregnancy, where he is pretty much all joy. Evans, in typical mama’s boy fashion, says his mom will be happy about the news and calls the fake baby their little “bundle of joy”. Here it is in Evans’ own words:

What’s even better than his reaction to the news he and Lizzo were having a fake baby is that the DM from Evans came before 4AM. If he were a normal person, I would chalk that up to a drunk text, but since it’s Evans, he’s actually probably just up for an early morning workout or to take his dog for a stroll.

It’s clear that he actively sought Lizzo out this time, reaching out over the pregnancy joke to start up a new conversation after a few months of not talking. In the TikTok, you can see in their chat history that the last time they spoke (at least in these DMs) was when he wished Lizzo a “Happy Birthday” back in April, and it looks like Chris Evans was the one who initiated that little chat as well.

In her post, Lizzo talks about how her fans now need to come up with a name for “little ‘merica”, which honestly is probably the best name already. The artist’s imaginary relationship with Chris Evans started a few months ago when Lizzo contacted Evans, shooting her shot. The actor responded to her messages positively, and they seem to have a friendly and playful faux relationship going on.

The only thing left is for these two to meet in real life, really, and I’m dying for it to happen. Chris Evans has plenty of time now to finally start up something with a lucky lady, now that his time with Marvel is pretty much done and Gray Man has also finished filming. Sure, he’s got plenty of other projects in the works, but it seems like he’s carving out some time to throw Lizzo (and their fake baby) some love too.

Flute master extraordinaire and queen of owning her curves Lizzo has a bone to pick with somebody. Specifically, we’re talking here of what gets said about celebrities, namely her, and why it's being said in the first place. The Grammy-winning singer clapped back against the latest insane rumors circulating about her that she killed someone while stage diving, and she used her signature in-your-face humor to do it.

In case anyone forgot, Lizzo is really "100% that bitch." And she isn't willing to let these rumors go any further. In a recent TikTok, the Hustlers star confronted the insane idea of her killing someone while stage diving, saying:

Lizzo captioned the video with “stop the [cap emoji],” meaning stop the slander. But that wasn't all, the singer even jokingly gave the people a visual (i.e. flopping on her bed) to show how her body isn't so big as to kill someone by stage diving. Clearly, Lizzo is fed up with the crazy insinuations people make up because of her body type. Prior to this killer stage diving TikTok video, Lizzo complained about the bothersome habit on social media in which spectators put judgements and diagnoses on large bodies. She urged her fans to remember that all bodies are “different” and that “your body is your body... so enjoy that bitch.”

But the “Good As Hell” singer isn't all talk about accepting oneself and being happy, she also walks the walk. I'm particularly thinking of Lizzo sliding into Chris Evans DMs without a care in the world. In the latest update about the success of her endeavors, Evans followed her back on Instagram and Lizzo joked again on TikTok that Evans was “the father of our child,” affectionately called “Little America.”

All jokes aside, I would honestly die for the real possibility of Chris Evans and Lizzo together. That's the actual Bennifer-level romance America wants to see come to fruition. But what we don't want to see is Chet Hanks make any sort of gains after shooting his own shot for Lizzo and deeming it “White Boy Summer.” We kindly refer Hanks to Lizzo’s declaration that it is “Ass Crack Summer,” if anything at all.

In this wild world of would-be rapper proclamations and what goes on in Chris Evans’ DMs, let's all not forget that the truth sometimes hurts. So stage diving death rumors with Lizzo’s name on them should find their way to the trash bin.

Well, if you’re just tuning into the saga, the “Juice” singer took to TikTok in April to hilariously share that she had drunkenly messaged the actor on Instagram the night before as a PSA not to “drink and DM.” It all went viral when she revealed that Evans had responded to her message, saying he was a fan of her music. Three months later, fans are still into the pairing, and Lizzo is playing along.

The 33-year-old music sensation took to TikTok to answer a fan who suggested that Lizzo might be pregnant with Chris Evans’ baby, and it includes the Captain America theme music. Check it:

Rihanna’s Fenty fashion line may not have made it through the pandemic, but some of the “Diamonds” singer’s other brands are still going strong. This includes Savage X Fenty, the singer and entrepreneur’s feisty line of lingerie. Now, that brand is going viral for selling some butt-baring leggings and someone better call Lizzo.

The former The Voice mentor is really trying to make butt-free leggings happen. Right now she has a few options in the new genre of pants, too. One’s a Soft Mesh Open-Back Crotchless Legging (which reviewers say run a little big). Another option is a paisley printed pair with a butt-baring cutout called the Bohemian Paisley Open Back Leggings (which has a lot of ribbon-y things and clasps and are "Rihanna's Pick"). Normally this would be the part of the article where I’d mention images are potentially NSFW, but we’re kind of in new territory here. Just note, you’re gonna see some butt cleavage.

Look, Rihanna’s Savage Fenty Line is known for selling sexy lingerie, so the fact her line itself might push out something butt-baring is not that huge of a shock. For example, Rihanna has butt-baring lingerie in her line this season as well, though that sort of peekaboo look is typically more for the bedroom than the living room or gym.

I’m just not really sure what the practical application for butt-baring leggings is? They’re assumedly too risqué to wear out in public. They also really feel like a weird choice for getting in the mood or even for wearing around the house. Plus, I'd have to assume anyone choosing to squat in those is deeply uninterested in actually working out.

However, I am not every woman and these leggings actually seem to have good reviews, with both pairs landing solid four star averages. To note, there is an audience for this, as Lizzo once wore a butt-baring dress to a basketball game and twerked on the jumbotron and I assume would be here for these leggings. In fact, the “Truth Hurts” singer declared it “ass crack summer” just a few months back. Now, you too, can join her.

Rihanna loves a good butt, and when she worked on Ocean’s Eight with Anne Hathaway she made sure to let her co-star know that she was killing it from behind. I guess this is simply the next step for Savage X Fenty fans to show off their assets. There’s a trend on TikTok where people tell the story of how a celebrity has them blocked on social media, but thankfully that’s not the case for Lizzo and Chris Evans. True, most drunken texts to celebrities are probably met with a big ol’ block, but apparently Chris Evans is much more gracious...at least when it comes to Lizzo. While we know TikTok queen Lizzo has her options open, it seems like she’s got her sights on Chris Evans even more now that they’re having a full on conversation in Evan’s DMs. Recently Lizzo posted an update to the ongoing Evans situation to her TikTok that briefly flashes a screenshot of the two celebrities’ conversation. Jokes on you, Lizzo, my pause game is on point. If you’re not quite as skilled, I’ll lay it out for you. Basically, Lizzo tells Chris Evans that even though she unsent her original message, she’s glad Evans responded and knows she exists now. Evan responds by saying he already knew who she was and is actually a big fan.

The rest of the conversation in the screenshot is (strategically?) covered by Lizzo’s face, but it seems like her and Chris Evans are having a pleasant conversation, and it looks like it may be about the show Lizzo has coming up. Although we can’t really tell what all is being said, it looks like the conversation continues past the screenshot as well.

While it seems like the two are just having a friendly conversation, a girl can hope that new headlines of “Chris Evans and Lizzo Engaged” are in our future...and I’m sure Lizzo has her fingers crossed as well. I mean honestly the two may be from different industries and have two different personalities, but opposites do attract and stranger things have happened.

Listen, the road to Chris Evan’s heart is found by following his dog. Lizzo’s half way there, as she also has a dog. He loves dogs, she loves dogs, it’s perfect. Together, they can buy an island and fill it with foster dogs who can roam free and play together. Their match would truly be one made in dog heaven.

While we may not know if this dog mom and dad have plans of meeting up and making a go of it, one can hope. Based off of their continued communications, it doesn’t seem completely out of the question. Sounds like Lizzo needs to just keep being her delightful self.

In his latest attempt to break into the rap scene, Chet Hanks, son of legendary actor Tom Hanks, officially declared it “White Boy Summer” in his new music video of the same name. There’s weed, twerking, and something called the “Chet Walk” that he’s trying to make a thing. But also in the video, Hanks simultaneously declared it “Black Queen Summer.” And he’s apparently very serious about it because he attempted to shoot his shot with Grammy winner Lizzo.

The “Truth Hurts” singer, probably unintentionally, got the ball rolling when she slid into the DMs of actor Chris Evans and got a response. It appears that Chet Hanks was hoping for a similar result. Per The Shade Room, Hanks posted Lizzo’s thirsty TikTok on his Instagram stories with the caption, “If it don’t work out w/ captain America im here baby WBS BQS.” Hanks has some pretty high confidence to think Lizzo might consider him over Captain America, but there’s no word yet if she even responded.

I’m actually pretty convinced that Chet Hanks has a thing for Lizzo, or otherwise seeks to mimic the viral response that she is a magnet for. He shot his shot for her, after Lizzo did so first for Chris Evans – to the delight of Marvel and music fans alike. Now, a few weeks after Lizzo hilariously declared it “Ass Crack Summer” in a series of raunchy Instagram pics, Hanks seemingly attempted to bank off of that and redeclare it “White Boy Summer.”

Judging by her viral TikTok about Chris Evans, Lizzo may be down for “White Boy Summer” in some capacity or even the idea of a “Black Queen Summer.” She is a noted advocate for body positivity and was spotted linking up with other major women of color performers, SZA and Kehlani just a few days ago. But many online aren’t quite sure about Chet Hanks’ current attempt at trend setting. His die-hard fans seemed ecstatic in his comments, yet a lot of others noted that he is “doing too much” and has “gone too far.”

The majority of the reactions to Chet Hanks’ “White Boy Summer” video, though, seem to be a way to roast the offspring of a famous actor. Some of which include that “Tom hanks don’t show you affection?” or “Tom come get your boy” or “That was forest gump money.” Tom Hanks has become unwittingly involved in his son’s antics in the past. Meanwhile, Lizzo seems blissfully unaware of Chet Hanks, who currently faces abuse allegations from an ex-girlfriend, and his overtures. She’s still living her best life, and I’m living for her great ideas, “Ass Crack Summer,” for one, and her casting as the live-action Ursula, for two.

There’s nothing like seeing one celebrity shoot their shot at another one. Lizzo was the latest star to slide into another star’s direct messages, but she didn’t slide into any star’s DMs; she flirted with Captain America’s Chris Evans. Lizzo’s regretful shot caused the internet to rally behind her pursuit of the Marvel Cinematic Universe star.

While some doubted whether it was a leak or not, the Knives Out star knows what it was like to deal with awkward social media moments.

In a series of posts, Lizzo shared off a revealing new look. When she says it’s going to be “ass crack summer,” she legitimately means it. I’d be remiss if I didn’t note these images are safe enough to be shared to Instagram, but are probably NSFW. ‘Butt’ don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Why is Lizzo declaring it “ass crack summer?” Well, there has been a rash of celebrities who have recently declared what kind of summer it’s going to be as the pandemic wanes. This seemingly started when Tom Hanks’ infamous son Chet Hanks declared it “white boy summer” last week. Dionne Warwick, who often comments on pop culture goings on via Twitter (this week she’s been all over that Bridgerton news) later responded in a tweet declaring “I will be having a Black Woman Summer. What foolishness did I just see?”

Now, according to Lizzo, it’s ass crack summer, or at least it will be once the weather warms up a little. So, I guess if you haven’t invested in a partially mesh dress with a big old cutout in the back, you aren’t in with the times. Along with skinny jeans and side parts, I guess covered derrieres are now out too? Don't ask me to weigh in here; I'm a millennial.

Some celebrities were here for the new look, as Demi Lovato responded with the simple comment, “HOTTTTTTTTT.” Regardless, if the “ass crack summer” was a bit much for you, the good news is that Lizzo shared a less booty-centric look at her outfit to her social media feed as well.

Seriously though, Lizzo has always been a huge proponent of body positivity and is confident in everything she wears and tries on. She stressed to Elle previously that it is because she didn't really like herself before, and so now she works really hard to practice self love.

Regardless, her outfit choices do not always work out in her favor. Another time, the Hustlers star made headlines for twerking in a thong at a Lakers game. It wasn’t really the twerking that was the issue, to be clear. The dress she wore and was then posted on the jumbotron had a gaping hole in the rear. The Lakers cam cut away, but it made the rounds on the Internet and sparked some backlash.

At the end of the day, maybe instead of using wild adjectives to describe the upcoming summer, we should all just hope that the weather is nice, the cicadas aren’t everywhere and that life returns to some semblance of normality. Unlike, these other “summers” that have been declared all over the Internet, I think those are all things we can get on the same page about.

There's no denying that Hustlers stole a lot of hearts and made a whole lot of cash when it premiered in theaters around the globe in September of last year. While it didn't receive any Oscar love, even though it received awards consideration from various other organizations, writer/director Lorene Scafaria's true story-based crime dramedy proved to be an entertaining and captivating feature. And it was aided nicely by its assured ensemble, which included strong performances from Constance Wu and particularly Jennifer Lopez, in what's been celebrated as one of her finest screen roles.

Now that it's been a little over a year since the acclaimed film swayed its way into theaters, what's the esteemed cast of Hustlers doing now? Let's take a look and see!

Constance Wu (Destiny)

As Destiny, the newcomer to Moves who flies under Ramona's wing, particularly during her criminal endeavors, Constance Wu has the central role in Hustlers. Prior to this performance, Wu was best known for playing the lead character in Crazy Rich Asians, for which she was Golden Globe-nominated, and for her long-standing roles in ABC's Fresh Off the Boat and EastSiders. Wu also lent her voice to Next Gen and The Lego Ninjago Movie. And she starred in Sound of My Voice, Parallels, and The Feels.

Next, Constance Wu voices a character to Wish Dragon, which is expected to come out sometime next year. She also stars in a dramedy titled Low Budget Ethnic Movie, which is directed, written, edited, produced, and starring Daniel Yoon. Wu is also soon set to be seen in I Was a Simple Man, and the rom-com, Mr. Malcolm's List, which she's also producing.

Jennifer Lopez (Ramona Vega)

In the memorable role of Romana Vega, the veteran stripper who shows Destiny the ropes and eventually introduces her to a life of crime, Jennifer Lopez gave arguably the performance of her career in Hustlers. So much so that she seemed like an Oscar frontrunner, and many folks were mad when she wasn't even nominated. Alas, while the Academy didn't recognize her work, she certainly had more-than-a-few admirers.

Both as a musician and actress, Jennifer Lopez has established a long-standing career. Particularly as an actress, Lopez is known for Anaconda, Out of Sight, Maid in Manhattan, Monster-in-Law, Shall We Dance?, Gigli, The Cell, The Boy Next Door, Enough, The Wedding Planner, U-Turn, and Selena. She's also known for TV shows like In Living Color, Shades of Blue, and American Idol.

Next, JLo produces and stars in the romantic comedy-musical, Marry Me, which hits theaters in May. Likewise, she'll star in and produce The Godmother and Shotgun Wedding, both of which are in pre-production. She's also the host of NBC's World of Dance, which recently aired its fourth season.

Lili Reinhart (Annabelle)

Playing the part of Annabelle, a new-to-the-game stripper with a queasy stomach, Lili Reinhart played a standout supporting role in Hustlers. Most notably, Lili Reinhart is known for her role as Betty Cooper on The CW's Riverdale. She also appeared on Fox's Surviving Jack, and in episodes of Law & Order: SVU, Scientastic!, and The Simpsons. Additionally, Reinhart's film roles include The Kings of Summer, Miss Stevens, Forever's End, Galveston, The Good Neighbor, Not Waving But Drowning, Lilith, and a cameo in 2019's Charlie's Angels reboot.

Outside of her ongoing role in Riverdale, Lili Reinhart was most recently seen in Amazon Prime's romantic drama, Chemical Hearts, in August. She was also an executive producer on the movie. Currently, she doesn't have any additional roles lined up yet.

Keke Palmer (Mercedes)

As Mercedes, another stripper who becomes part of Destiny and Ramona's money-stealing enterprise, Keke Palmer played one of the main roles in Hustlers. First finding fame through her award-winning starring role in Akeelah and the Bee, Palmer is also known for Barbershop 2: Back in Business, The Longshots, Madea's Family Reunion, Shrink, Joyful Noise, and Pimp. She also played the title character in Nickelodeon's True Jackson, VP, and she starred in Winx Club, Scream Queens, Berlin Station, and MTV's Scream. She also hosted Just Keke.

Most recently, Keke Palmer appeared in 2 Minutes of Fame. She also stars in Turnt Up with the Taylors. And she was one-third of GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke, which was canceled this year. Next, Palmer plays the title role in Alice, which is now filming. She's also set to lend her voice to the new series, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

Julia Stiles (Elizabeth)

In the role of Elizabeth, a journalist following Destiny's turn into criminality that's seen throughout the film, Julia Stiles provided the connective tissue for Hustlers' rambunctious story thread. The actress is best known for her supporting role in the Bourne franchise, as well as her leading roles in Wicked, 10 Things I Hate About You, Down to You, The Prince and Me, O, and Save the Last Dance. Additionally, Stiles is known for Silver Linings Playbook, Mona Lisa Smile, 2006's The Omen, It's a Disaster, A Guy Thing, and A Little Trip to Heaven. She also appeared in the fifth season of Dexter.

Currently, Julia Stiles can be seen in the third season of Riviera, which she frontlines. She'll also star in The God Committee, which will arrive next year. Additionally, Stiles is currently filming Esther, also known as Orphan: First Kill, which is a prequel to 2009's Orphan.

Lizzo (Liz)

In her big-screen debut, Lizzo plays Liz, a fellow stripper at Moves, in Hustlers. As a chart-topping rapper-flutist, Lizzo has been raising her profile more and more throughout the years, and that includes a couple of acting roles along the way. In addition to this supporting turn, Lizzo provided a voice performance in 2019's UglyDolls.

As a musician, Lizzo has released three studio albums, 2013's Lizzobangers, 2016's Big Grrrl Small World, and 2019's Cuz I Love You, as well as 2016's EP, Coconut Oil. Her most well-known singles include "Good As Hell," "Truth Hurts," "Juice," and "Tempo." Earlier this year, Lizzo won three Grammys, including Best Urban Contemporary Album, for her latest studio album. Additionally, Lizzo was recognized as Time Magazine's Entertainer of the Year last year.

Next, Lizzo will be heard in the upcoming short film, Yeti! Yeti! She also recently signed a production deal with Amazon Studios. And she made a fun cameo in The Eric Andre Show Season 5.

Cardi B (Diamond)

While she has been making a name for herself as one of the hottest rappers in the business right now, Hustlers is Cardi B's official screen debut, as she doesn't have any other film or television credits to her name outside of music videos and talk show appearances. Every actor or actress needs to start their career somewhere, and Hustlers is a pretty damn good place to kick off your acting career. Even though she's surrounded by veteran talents and up-and-coming performers, Cardi B certainly holds her own here, proving to be a charismatic and dynamic screen performer. It definitely wouldn't be surprising if this movie launched a stable acting career in Cardi B's future.

Nevertheless, she's already doing exceptionally well in the music world, with a Grammy to her name and several other accolades to boot. That said, Cardi B is soon expected to be seen in F9.

Mercedes Ruehl (Mama)

As Mama, the club's den mother, Mercedes Ruehl played a watchful and mindful older maternal figure in Hustlers. A multi-award-winning actress with an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a Tony to her name, Ruehl is an incredibly accomplished actress who sadly doesn't get her full due today. Her most well-known performance is in The Fisher King, for which she won her Oscar. Her other notable screen credits include Big, Radio Days, Heartburn, Married to the Mob, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Last Action Hero, and Roseanna's Grave. Additionally, Ruehl appeared in episodes of Frasier, Law & Order, Entourage, Psych, Law & Order: SVU, Life in Pieces, NCIS, 2 Broke Girls, and The Mysteries of Laura. She also had a recurring role in Power.

Hustlers was Mercedes Ruehl's most recent film role. Additionally, the actress reprised her role as Judge Tessa Hudson in a 2019 episode of CBS's Bull.

Madeline Brewer (Dawn)

In the role of Dawn, a drug-addled hire whom Destiny finds unreliable, Madeline Brewer played a prominent role in Hustlers' second half. Most notably, the actress is known for her work in Netflix's Orange Is the New Black, Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale, and her leading role in the horror movie, Cam. Additionally, she appeared in Netflix's Hemlock Grove. Her other film credits include Flesh and Blood, Captive State, Braid, and Hedgehog. Brewer also appeared in Grimm, Black Mirror, The Deleted, and Stalker. Her other credits include the short films, Marie Celeste, from last year and this year's The One. Also, the actress played a prominent part in John Cameron Mitchell's musical podcast, Anthem: Homunculus.

Most recently, Madeline Brewer starred in Now Is Everything, which is currently in the film festival circuits, and the newest season of The Handmaid's Tale. Her upcoming films include The Ultimate Playlist of Noise and Separation.

Wai Ching Ho (Destiny’s Grandmother)

As Destiny's caring and concerning grandmother, Wai Ching Ho played a key emotional supporting role in Hustlers. Outside of this performance, viewers might know Wai Ching Ho best for playing Madame Gao in Netflix's Daredevil, Iron Fist, and The Defenders, respectively. Her other TV credits include Law & Order, One Life to Live, Fresh Off the Boat, New Amsterdam, Flight of the Conchords, Blue Bloods, Orange is the New Black, The Jim Gaffigan Show, and Law & Order: SVU. Additionally, Ho appeared in Cadillac Man, Robot Stories, Premium Rush, Tracers, Adventures of Power, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and Set It Up.

Most recently, Wai Ching Ho appeared in an episode of Comedy Central's Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens. She also starred in Lucky Grandma, which came out virtually earlier this year. Next, she'll star in a pair of short films, klutz. and A Father's Son, as well as the dramedy, Joyful.

Trace Lysette (Tracey)

In the role of Tracey, a fellow stripper working at Moves, Trace Lysette plays a prominent part in Hustlers. Outside of this performance, Lysette is best known for her work on Amazon Prime's acclaimed drama series, Transparent. She also appeared in Blunt Talk, Pose, Law & Order: SVU, Drunk History, Midnight, Texas, David Makes Man, and Coffee House Chronicles: The Movie. Additionally, Lysette appeared in short films like 2015's Bloody Mary and 2017's Deadbeat, as well as the music videos for Maroon 5's "Girls Like You" and Cher's "SOS." The actress can be seen in the reality TV series, I Am Cait, and the reality competition series, RuPaul's Drag Race. She was also recently an interview subject in Netflix's documentary, Disclosure.

Most recently, Trace Lysette reprised her role as Shea in Transparent's musical series finale last year. Next, she'll star in Venus as a Boy and Monica.

Usher (Himself)

In the role he was born to play, Usher makes a starry cameo appearance in the middle of Hustlers. Though he's known primarily as a musician, he has kept a consistent acting career in both film and television, including leading man performances in In the Mix and Light It Up, as well as notable supporting turns in She's All That, The Faculty, Gepetto, Moesha, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, 7th Heaven, Soul Food, Texas Rangers, Killers, Scary Movie 5, Muppets Most Wanted, Hands of Stone, and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. He was also seen in various episodes of NBC's The Voice.

Earlier this year, Usher starred in Hulu's Bad Hair. Additionally, the actor-musician was seen in the drama, Burden, which premiered at Sundance in 2018 and got its formal theatrical release earlier this year. He also recently directed the music video for his single, "I Cry."

Lady Gaga and late night hosts like Jimmy Fallon had been teasing One World Together At Home for a few days before the unprecedented TV event aired on not one network, but multiple, with collaboration between late night rivals, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel to boot. Sure, we’ve seen multiple networks air things like State of the Union addresses in unison before, but this was something different and something special.

Curated by Gaga, a slew of artists, from rockers like The Rolling Stones and Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong to pop culture phenoms like Taylor Swift and Lizzo all shared their own performances on the small screen. Peppered throughout these were interviews with doctors and other people on the front lines, as well as appearances from icons like Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and more. The whole thing made for an event that combined online and primetime viewing, as a 6-hour pre-show streamed ahead of the actual TV event.

All in all, despite people being stuck at home, it was a satisfying night of television and you can see some of the great and fan-favorite performances below.

Eddie Vedder Performs “River Cross”

The Pearl Jam frontman does not do anything in half measures. While he’s simply playing and singing at the same time in his video, he is belting it out here. There were a lot of great performances and I could see how some people may have preferred Billie Joe Armstrong or Stevie Wonder, who played the late Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me,” but this one had my attention a little more. Eddie Vedder has an advantage though, given his incredibly distinct voice.

Celin Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Lady Gaga, Lang Lang And John Legend Perform “The Prayer”

Lady Gaga collaborated on her own performace with Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, John Legend and Lang Lang in a very impressive performance that just cracked my top 5 – though is worth watching for its sheer impressiveness. Lang Lang on the piano is highly entrancing, but I’m also a sucker for people who can play piano really well. Technically one of the greatest achievements of the night, for sure.

Keith Urban Performs “Higher Love”

Steve Winwood’s classic song “Higher Love” was a great song pick for the One World Together At Home event, but the reason this performance ranked so highly for me has nothing to do with the song choice or Keith Urban’s vocals. From an editing standpoint, Urban’s track was one of the most interesting to watch all night, as the video featured him performing different aspects of the song which were then mashed together into a really cool video. Watch it.

The Rolling Stones Perform “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”

Plenty of celebrities chose covers for the One World Together event, but if you are a classic band like The Rolling Stones, you already should have one song in your repertoire that fits the event. Like Elton John also did with his version of “I’m Still Standing,” The Rolling Stones played their classic “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” popping in when their parts started on the song. It’s a cool video to boot.

Camila Cabello & Shawn Mendes Perform “What A Wonderful World”

For me, this was the top moment of the night. Not only does it seemingly confirm Camila Cabeloo and Shawn Mendes are social isolating together, it’s clear they really worked out their version of “What A Wonderful World” and just sound great together. We know this already thanks to “Seniorita,” but this lovely cover will be sticking with me for days and days after the performance. In fact, I’ve already watched it multiple times.

This didn’t quite make my Top 5 for the night, but all you Swifties out there probably really enjoyed Taylor Swift’s sweet rendition of “Soon You’ll Get Better” and it's definitely worth a mention. Sidebar: The prettiest thing about this video isn’t even her voice but that to die for wallpaper or wall mural.

Ultimately, everyone who performed for the event was doing it with good intentions and each of the performances offered something for fans across the world, which is why global acts like Columbian singer Maluma and Nigerian singer Burna Boy were also included. The One World Together event brought a lot of people together on a Saturday night and should be one event we’ll remember for a long, long time – no matter which performances were your favorites.

Saturday Night Live is on its way back for Season 45, and if this season is anything like the past few years it'll be must-see television. Things are looking good so far after some names for who will be involved have been released, and one of them is really big.

November 23- Will Ferrell With Musical Guest King Princess

Will Ferrell's latest hosting of Saturday Night Live will have a bit of fanfare, as he'll join the ranks of the show's "Five-Timers Club." The former Saturday Night Live cast member can now step alongside stars like Candice Bergen, Ben Affleck, and Bill Murray who have all hosted five times, as well.

King Princess is the musical artist, and may not be a name everyone in the mainstream is familiar with. Her song "1950" is fairly popular at the moment, and based on that this appearance should be one that fans of the indie-pop style will appreciate.

December 7-Jennifer Lopez With Musical Guest DaBaby

Jennifer Lopez returns to Saturday Night Live for the third time, though this outing will be different than her appearances in the past. Her third hosting will mark the first time Lopez is not also the musical guest, which means most all her screen time will be in sketches.

Instead, the musical guest this time around will be rapper DaBaby. DaBaby is all the rage right now with his hit single "Suge," which is off his debut album Baby on Baby. I wouldn't suspect J Lo and DaBaby will collab during this episode, but hey, anything can happen when you're live!

December 14- Scarlett Johansson With Musical Guest Niall Horan

Back for the sixth time, it's always a blast when Scarlett Johansson is on Saturday Night Live. That might be because audiences are so used to seeing her in more serious roles in movies, or kicking ass in the MCU.

Saturday Night Live will see another One Direction alumni this season, as Niall Horan will come on as the episode's musical guest. What, is Horan not good enough to be a host as well?

December 21 - Eddie Murphy With Musical Guest Lizzo

For the first time since 1984, Eddie Murphy will host Saturday Night Live. The former cast member of the show is back, which is kind of a big deal, considering how rare his television appearances are. Of course, he's been picking up more projects lately and making appearances on Netflix, so perhaps this is just another push into Murphy being a part of Hollywood's limelight again.

With Eddie Murphy back on SNL, one has to wonder if any other former Saturday Night Live cast members will appear as well. We also have the great Lizzo performing, so this pre-Christmas episode is sure to be a treat!

September 28 - Woody Harrelson With Musical Guest Billie Eilish

With the release of Zombieland 2 happening in October, Woody Harrelson is set to open up the season of Saturday Night Live. Harrelson's hosted Saturday Night Live before, so chances are he knows the ropes and will be able to get Season 45 off to a strong start.

On the musical side of things, "Bad Guy" singer Billie Eilish will be taking the stage to get the audience moving. Eilish's videos have been known for their creepy aesthetic so be on the lookout for a memorable musical performance on this one.

October 5 - Phoebe Waller-Bridge With Musical Guest Taylor Swift

The Fleabag and Solo: A Star Wars Story actress is ready for her closeup, and probably a skit or two with Pete Davidson. She's going to kick off the week off the first show of October, and hopefully give fans more to hope for than a re-emergence of David S. Pumpkins or maybe one of his associates.

Of course, we can't forget the musical guest, who currently has one of the top albums in America. Taylor Swift is psyched to be returning to Saturday Night Live, and to be in the same show as Phoebe Waller-Bridge as well. Swift expressed her excitement for the announcement on Twitter, and is apparently a big Fleabag fan. I think that's a hint these two should be in a skit that parodies the show together.

October 12 - David Harbour With Musical Guest Camila Cabello

While Stranger Things fans are still waiting to see what happened to Hopper, David Harbour is just getting booked to host Saturday Night Live like it's no big deal! His hosting date is a little early for Black Widow promotion, so this could be to promote the release of his upcoming film Dhaka. It may also be to promote a Stranger Things Christmas special, which isn't known to be a thing at the moment but it could be!

Camila Cabello is tagging in as the musical guest for this episode, which is quite the glow up for the former Fifth Harmony member. Expect Cabello to perform her mega hit song "Havana," and possibly her other single "Never Be The Same."

November 2- Kristen Stewart With Musical Guest Coldplay

Kristen Stewart is back to host Saturday Night Live, which we can hope will be completely devoid of Twilight skits now that it's been so long. No musical guest has been announced just yet, unless of course Stewart has decided to make this the debut of her singing career. It wouldn't be the worst way to launch a singing career.

Stewart's return to Saturday Night Live comes three years after she created a viral moment on the sketch series by dropping an f-bomb during the show. Stewart quickly assumed it would be her last time being on the iconic NBC staple, but obviously, that wasn't the case.

November 16- Harry Styles

This will be Harry Styles fifth time on Saturday Night Live, but the first time he will actually be host. The former One Direction member turned solo artist will strut his stuff and attempt to show the world he's more than just a pretty face with an angelic voice.

And if Styles isn't the best actor, at least he has two musical performances to remind Saturday Night Live why to invite him back in the future. Who knows, perhaps he'll surprise viewers and be a Justin Timberlake caliber of SNL host?
